I’m fine with my Medical Alert. So far, everybody's been nice and helpful. I’ve fallen a few times before I got my medical alert. It was my daughter that suggested I get it because my family either work or they’re too far to come and get me with no vehicle. However, the new button where it automatically records when you fall is really sensitive. I was bending over, even folding clothes, or changing my bed and the button went off by itself. So, I take it off if I’m going to do bending down and reaching or anything because it would send it off. This has happened three times, so I’m not really happy about the sensitivity of it. I understand, so I go in and try it for a while. But I don’t know at this point if I really want to keep it or just stick with my old one.
So far, it’s okay and I have it on always. I take it in the shower with me and then I change to the other one afterwards. And then, when I go to bed, I change back to the regular one. Thank god I haven’t had to actually use it. I’ve tripped a couple of times, but I haven’t fallen again. It’s part of my everyday life. I use my Medical Alert like I’m supposed to and call to have it tested. A couple of times, I was gonna call when it accidentally went off because I thought the response would be faster but somebody did answer and I didn’t have to call. The response time was not as fast as I thought it would be, but it’s okay. If I ever do need it, I’m sure it would be a good thing.

I've had the Medical Alert for a year now. I wear the device on my arm all the time in case I fell in my house and needed help since I'm by myself. I got one that I can wear around my neck but I'm short. If I put that thing around my neck, it comes down below my bustline, so I don’t use it too much unless I put it in my undergarment. I told Medical Alert that I should use the neck piece and I wish it could go out so many feet away from the house. Nonetheless, I'm satisfied with it.

Someone told me about Medical Alert and someone from Medical Alert called me. I wear the button around my neck, but it goes off when I move too much. I may not wear it when I'm really busy doing stuff like cleaning, as it has gone off twice already. Medical Alert goes off faster than the previous one I got. Then they'd call and check to see if I'm all right, and I say that I don't need help. Yet it is fine when I use it when I go somewhere. I live by myself and so I've used the button 3 times but I've been in the hospital 11 times. Once I hit the button, the Medical Alert team would get on the phone and talk to me until the ambulance gets here. Also, my problem now is that I feel bad when getting up in the morning and need help. The Medical Alert is good for me and I tell others that they're great. A friend will be calling them as she needs it now.

My husband has Parkinson's and I'm a diabetic. When I first joined Medical Alert, I was in Canada and I thought I would be paying Canadian funds. But I was mistaken because they were charging me US funds, so it made a big difference for the exchange. I called them after a year, and at first, it was so hard to get a hold of anybody to talk to. Then, at last, I found the right person and the right phone number to call. They were good, and they changed me over to Canadian, as far as I know. I'll know this year when I pay because I usually pay by the year. I test the device once a month, and their response time has been very good. If you have health problems, you should look into Medical Alert.

Medical Alert has been great. I've used it four times and every time I've called them, they've been wonderful. There has been a police car and an ambulance here within five minutes. I have to have mine turned on because my husband passed away two months ago and I'm alone now, and I'm not that healthy. I've also talked my sister into getting Medical Alert. She's 74 years old and she's got a boyfriend, and she's got kids in the house. She could be in front of her house or right out back in the house, and the store. She should absolutely have one.

The house I live in a small town of Wilmot, New Hampshire is on a side road, a half mile up from the town hall. My daughter and son-in-law bought this house when they were still working in Europe and wanted a home to come home to on vacations. After I retired, my kids asked me if I would move down to the house and kind of look after it because they at that time were still overseas. I've been here ever since and it was because I live by myself and reading something that I decided to get Medical Alert.
I wear the alert button around my neck and I also wear it to bed. The only time I take it off is in the shower because I really don’t want the cord to get wet, but what I do is I have it on the edge of the bathtub where my shower is so that I certainly can reach it on a moment’s notice unless I happened to knock myself out. At which point, I wouldn’t be able to press the button anyways but that's where I put it. Also, I don't wear the newest one that is supposed to detect when you fall all the time because I found that it's some little thing. I wasn’t even falling. But all of a sudden, it set off the alarm. There was a notice that I had problems and it's driving me crazy. I just wear my regular one.
I test it each month and I dial in. the voice comes back very quickly so that I can release it after we've checked that I am who I am and my address, etc. My emergencies have been when something has happened and they have called me which I think is good. My only problem was, not too long ago, I was having problems on my machine. My trouble light would come on and flash. I wasn’t having any problem with it, so I would just clear it. One morning after about a week of that doing it on and off, I all of a sudden had a policeman at my door just after I got out of the shower.
I had done a little further research and I was told that when receiving new necklaces, take the old ones, put them in a bag, and put them in the freezer and it eventually destroys them. It wasn't made clear to me that it wouldn't completely knock the instrument to death. I talked to Medical Alert's folks again and discovered that the freezer did not necessarily kill them, it showed low voltage. That’s why that light kept coming on. After my episode, I took them out of the freezer and took them to the transfer station or the dump.

Our mother was with my brother, but he sleeps in the daytime and she's awake. We're spending more time with her now because she's 100 years old, but when we weren't here as much, I felt much better that she has Medical Alert. I talked to somebody about the new equipment for the falling and it was excellent. I was impressed with the rep's knowledge and her ability to answer questions and tell me things that I wasn't even thinking of. It was very professional and well done. I've been very happy with the whole system. It's easy to use.

My children don't live with me and they were worried about me falling and somebody not knowing. They wanted me to get a Medical Alert after my husband died. Also, I had a fall and I broke the ball out of the socket on the right side so I had to have an operation where they had to put another one in. And I was falling quite a bit because one leg is shorter than the other and I get unsteady really easy. So since having the device, I don't have to worry. And if I fall or have an accident, I know that somebody's going to be right here. As a matter of fact, some people up the street, a couple of houses away, have one too and her husband fell the other day. She said that he couldn't push the button but she did and the ambulance arrived.
My Medical Alert device works fine. It is hanging around my neck and I always put it under my clothes without thinking about it. Then I get up the sink a lot of times and I would bump the edge of the cabinets so it would go off. I bumped it accidentally a couple of times and the fireman from the fire station down the road were here in a flash. It's preprogrammed and when I bump it, it'll say, "Calling for help." I never know who's calling or answering but they respond very quick. If I'm not calling for help, I just watch, listen then say, "No. I really don't need any help right now. It's just a mistake." I hate to do that, but I can't help it sometimes.
Everybody with Medical Alert has been very nice even the fireman who came to find out if I was okay. My daughter asked what would they do if they couldn't get in the house and they said that they'll break down the door. I told them that I didn't want that expense. So I got another key made, hid it outside, and put that on their information for them to know where it's at. I'd recommend Medical Alert to anyone that needs it.

Medical Alert is a nice, reassuring factor to have with you when you’re by yourself and would need help and couldn’t get to the phone. I’ve known about Medical Alert for years. My elderly mother had one and my mother-in-law also had one. I'm in my mid-70s and have balance problems from time to time. I'm usually home and not always with a companion. When I'm by myself and if something would happen, the Medical Alert would be a nice way to get in contact and I feel more secure having it. On occasion, when I would reset the button, the Medical Alert representatives were very congenial and helpful. The device gets in the way sometimes yet other than that, I’m satisfied.

My husband is alone sometimes. He’s 95 and I did not want him not to have access to getting help if he needed it. We have the Medical Alert and he doesn’t even bother with it. There's one on the table and we got the one that goes around his neck and one that goes on his wrist. He leaves them sitting in the bedroom as long as I'm home. If I'm going out and be out for a while, I make him put one of them on. I spoke to the Medical Alert team once to make sure the device was working. The reps were good. We are satisfied with Medical Alert although I paid the extra not long ago and it was not too cheap. Nevertheless, it's a good thing to have it, especially if you live alone.

My Medical Alert is comfortable and I'm well pleased with it. The other day, I set the device off by mistake and there was somebody there right away asking me who I was and what was going on. Their reps were excellent in the way they treated me. Getting a Medical Alert device made good sense in case I fall down because it's just the wife and me who are in this apartment and also if I fall down out on the street and nobody has enough brains to call an ambulance. I'd recommend Medical Alert highly except for using it during a power failure. I had a problem with my device about two years ago when we had a power failure and I pushed my little pendant. The rep was saying, "What is your emergency," but she wasn't receiving me saying that I had fallen on the floor and I couldn't get up because I have a mobility problem with my legs. So as soon as the power came back on, I said to the dispatcher that I've been responding but she said that they haven't been receiving other than when I pushed the button. I got the contract out and it said that it works regardless of a power failure. All the pages that came with it said that if I do not respond, they would automatically send aid. But it didn't work that time. And that was my only real problem.
Now, I've got the new pendant such that it immediately activates if I fall. I also had a funny experience a couple of nights ago when I dropped my pendant on the floor. I don't wear the device in bed because it's a little uncomfortable and it's much larger than a little pendant. So when I went to reach for my nightie, I knocked the big pendant onto the floor. It didn’t hit the floor but I heard, "What is your emergency?" So, I said sorry and that I just dropped the pendant. Other than finding it a good but funny experience, I've had a great response. Then one morning, I was getting up for the day and I got too close to the edge of the bed. When I went to swing my feet out, I slid under the floor. I pushed my button and then two big, bulky, good-looking paramedics came. They lifted me up off the floor and away we went.

The people at Medical Alert are good. They are a nice bunch, and they seem to be on the ball and are really on the money. I have called them when necessary. I feel really satisfied with the situation up to what it can do for me, and it's a great situation for those that are in the city who are close to the headquarters -- they are all in Melville. In a regular situation, I would rate them top of the line. I'm glad I had to have it because it would have been a bad situation. However, there seems to be a problem of distance. I'm in a remote area and critical time means critical situations and I was in a critical place more than I was in a normal place. I pay $400 a month and they're right here and there's no distance between what I am paying and what they paying. So, they probably will have to fill in that situation. People will need Medical Alert because it's there, but I hope that nobody needs it and that people will be satisfied.

My mother in law has been harassed on the phone for a month about a past due amount. The company has her credit card for billing so how can she be past due? Several calls made on her behalf and she is absolutely correct about this company - they are hard to reach as they are always "experiencing higher than normal phone activity". Very frustrating to the point we returned the equipment today at our cost of $30. We do not trust this company to cancel the account and stop billing, so the request to cancel was made on the phone, by fax and by mail/included with returned equipment.
Others have returned the equipment and keep getting billed. They might have great medical alert service, but their customer/billing service is horrible. An elderly person does not need the added stress of dealing with calling this company daily hoping to reach them, then having an unresolved issue after a month. Our CVS Pharmacy promotes Medical Alert, but we will definitely do more research before signing up with another company.
Hi Sylvia,
Susan has tried to call numerous times over the past week since we saw this review to speak about this but has not gotten a response. She gave her direct dial so there would not be any hold issue for you during a call back.
We did not have a billing issue on our end. Unfortunately, your mother-in-law provided an invalid credit card for this account so the bill payments wouldn't go through on the card number provided, hence the repeated calls for payment to her.
We attempted to put it through on Auto Pay, but when it didn't go through, we changed the account to invoice. The payment for the open invoices was not received until January 17. We had no other recourse except to call for an updated card.
The months of November, December and January were owed and that is why collections was calling her.
I am sorry for these issues, but if we had been given a valid credit card, and payments were made in a timely manner, there would never have been an issue.
I will send you a private message as well with more detail.
Thank you,Alex

I was going to call Medical Alert to cancel the other device because the rep talked me into a smaller one which I thought was a good idea if I fall. I was really surprised because this weekend, not only did they call me and leave a message, but they called my son and said there was something wrong with the battery. There wasn't anything wrong, I just didn't have it back in the socket. That was good that they did that and I feel more secure now that I have Medical Alert. I had a heart attack and now, I have COPD and I have arthritis at the base of my spine. I wear my Medical Alert button around my neck wherever I go. When my wife passed away, I was going to get rid of my Medical Alert but then I thought I am going to be here by myself so I continued with it. I had the old system which was not rigged up for a fall, and I had it updated. I had two emergencies and I had to go to the doctor. The Medical Alert team did what they were supposed to do. They called my son and let him know what was happening. And the EMS team came over. Everything worked pretty smoothly.
The Medical Alert device is a good gadget to have especially when you’re in a house by yourself. I used mine recently and I pressed the button and got the Medical Alert people. They asked if I needed assistance and then they called the local EMS, Emergency Medical Services. And from there, they took me to the hospital. It took the EMS a little bit of time to get here and I don’t know what the problem was because the fire station is right across the street from my house. But, I’d definitely suggest Medical Alert to my friends if they were on my condition and they had any health issues. It’s good for an emergency. A heart attack will not let you know when it will creep up on you. And if you’re by yourself, you’re not going to have enough time to be calling 911 and talking to people.

I never take the button off, except to charge it off at night to charge it. But I’m a worrier and I worry that my button isn’t going to work although it has worked fine. But I was misled one time four months ago. I was told that I couldn’t do something but then later on, somebody called me and wanted to sell me the same thing. I got my Medical Alert device after my husband died. I felt uneasy about being alone and the device gave me confidence that I could get help in a hurry if I needed it. Once, I was unaware that I bumped the device and they came on the speaker wanting to help me, which startled me. So, I knew that it was very fragile as far as sensitive in picking up my request to get them here. The same thing happened to my sister-in-law. The vibration of a ball bouncing off her wall triggered the device. I, however, have returned the device since I'm moving to a nursing home. Medical Alert's reps, who were very courteous and understanding, encouraged me to keep it, but I'm not going to be able to.

I have my Medical Alert device around my wrist, and it's comfortable and it's like a watch. I'm a senior and living alone and I got bad legs. I keep my device on me all the time when I'm here in the house. I feel safer because I only have to press the button and all my family is involved in a matter of a minute. The Medical Alert team is a good crowd to deal with. They've been really nice when I called them and always there to help. When I tested my device, their response time was good and fast. I would certainly stand by Medical Alert and let my friends know how good it would make them feel when they are living alone.

I wear the device around my neck during the day and there’s no weight to it at all. I don’t even notice that I got it. I take it off at night and lay it on the table by my bed. Since having the device, I’m not afraid that I live alone. I used it one time and the responders were right here quickly, and they were all very polite and careful with me. Medical Alert called me one day and explained the product to me. I took it and I’ve had it for six years now. The one I have now comes on when I fall and I feel safer thinking that I've got something I could call if I needed to. I don’t like wearing it as the string that it's on is black and you can see it around my neck. It's not too good to look at but it's worth it to have that support. I've used it a time or two and the response time takes a little a while but they're not really close to me. Recently, they put it on testing for me and when I pushed the button, it made the noise that it's supposed to but I couldn’t hear their voice. That aside, I’ve had a good experience with them.

When I first got it, the police came and I told them I didn't push the button. I don't know how that happened. I wear my device on the wrist and around the neck sometimes. They told me not to wear it when I'm sleeping so I keep it on the headboard of my bed. I have a new button now and it's the newest one that they have. I want to be able to stay in my own home and my family has been pushing me to go somewhere. I haven’t fallen in years and I’m careful about what I do, and I don’t feel I needed the Medical Alert as much as my kids think I do. Getting it was a way to deflect them for a while, however, it’s not working the best for me since I’m a bit too active. I wear the necklace all the time night and day, but most of the time, I'm not sitting at home and it’s hard to carry it without it getting accidentally bumped all the time. The deputy came here since I couldn’t remember my password the first time, and it was embarrassing as hell.
I’m not very happy with Medical Alert right now. The first person on my call list in case I get in trouble received a call saying that I needed to do something about the battery on my handheld. When I called Friday afternoon, I was put on hold, then I was told that someone would call me back if I leave my number. However, no one has called yet. Now, I’m waiting to see what they are going to do. If I do need a new battery, somebody should have explained to me where I could get it and how to replace it.
I haven’t had to use my device outside, but I have bumped it a lot. I’m a widower and I do a lot of things. I clean the house, do the dishes and clean the beds. Their response time has been so good that it has made me feel bad since I’ve been bothering them when I shouldn’t be. Up until Friday, their team has been very good. When I had somebody on the line during a test call, they were very courteous and caring. All in all, I’d recommend Medical Alert. It would work for someone who sits around all day.

I had to have something to get help when I needed it and we heard about Medical Alert. We’ve had it for so long now and we really have good service with them. When my husband was diseased, we used it quite a bit because I could not lift him when he fell. And I hit the button all the time if I put the button outside while I’m working or I’m trying to open something and it would go off. So, I turned it over where the button is next to my skin and this way, it does not go off if I hit it. But the response time from the reps is pretty quick. Also, it just works inside the house and I’m fine in the house but when I go out, I do not have it. And I wish it was altogether in one compartment, the one worn around the neck in the house and the one when going out in the car or yard. I’d tell people to get one if they’re by themselves or they are older people or with illness because we’ll never know when we’ll need it.

Medical Alert is worth having and anyone should have one. My nephew helped me install my device and it took him two seconds to do it. Then I got to thinking that I should have the lock on the door where anyone who knew the password could come in, so the same nephew came back to install it. So far, I've called Medical Alert twice and they brought me to the hospital. I've also called them three times about the tiny yellow light on the box that would come on and blink. They told me that my battery was working good and that I should just to go turn it off, so that's what I do.
I've had a couple of cute little instances with Medical Alert's team, too, and they have been wonderful. One day, my little nephew was here playing and I didn’t realize he touched my Medical Alert. Soon, the ambulance came in our driveway. I explained what happened and the guy said that it was all right. Then, one time, I was at the hospital where the doctor was trying to put an IV in my arm and was having a hard time. Apparently, my Medical Alert went off when he was doing that because when I came home, all my neighbors were here. They said that the ambulance was here and that they they got a key and opened my house. They also said that they went in and looked for me, but they couldn’t find me.
My friend has a different Medical Alert than I do but it does the same thing. One day, she got money from the bank and put it in an envelope. Then she went over and had her car washed. When she was getting money out of her envelope, the wind started blowing it away. She called Medical Alert and they came right away. They helped her find some of her money, although they couldn’t find it all as some of it was blown too far away.

I'm very unsteady on my feet and I live in a retirement, but I'm here in my little apartment by myself all the time and they don't check on me so if I fell, I would just be here. Medical Alert makes my life better because I feel safer. I changed from a regular alert to the one where if I fall, it goes off. I wear the pendant and it’s fine. It makes me feel better although the only thing is I call when I don't mean to because I seem to bump it a little. I'm kind of clumsy and so, when I brush my teeth, I seem to bump it on the sink. But I'm getting better at watching it. The Medical Alert reps had been very helpful but the response has taken quite a while here lately. When I bumped it a couple of days ago, I came in to the big speaker here and I sat there for five minutes before they answered.
The only problem I've had with them is that I would like to be billed every month, and when I would check the new service, they're billing the $10 extra for the fall alert thing every quarter. I need it billed every month if possible and I talked to them about it several times. I talked to several of my friends about Medical Alert. I had a cousin and she didn't see any offense in it, and I finally talked her into getting one. And sure enough, here a couple of weeks ago, she had a stroke and, luckily, she had the one when she fell, it went off. And this is three times now that they found her on the floor. And I've told my friends about her experience and that's why I went ahead and got the one, that when I fall, it goes off.

I got all this medical alert service since I became ill. I was diagnosed with having heart failure and it was the beginning of Medical Alert. I live alone and most people insisted that if you live alone you should have the Medical Alert buttons. The first one I’ve had I know it’s over a year going into the second year that I've had it and then the last one I have it for six months. I had wanted the 911 travel button so they told me to send the device to them and then they gave me the one with fall detection and it would be the same monthly fee and then I would have a different coverage.
Medical Alert is wonderful. I have no complaints about it except the button is so sensitive. I have to be careful about touching it because they were here when I didn’t even need them. They respond fast. At least 10 minutes they were here knocking on my door. I had to open the door and crack it because I don’t have my clothes on. That was how fast they got here. I apologized to them and they were just glad I was okay.
I feel more confident since having the Medical Alert. I have it through around my neck and then I would sleep in it but now they kind of rub together. I take it off at night and I sleep and have them right by my bedside. I don’t sleep with it anymore but I wear the first one I received 24/7. I didn’t take it out except to take a shower and I put it right by the bath in the bedroom while I’m taking the shower. I’m satisfied. The only thing I’m dissatisfied with is that it is so sensitive. But otherwise they’re good. I recommend them to anyone.

Medical Alert's response time was very quick. When I called them, they got my daughter and she was here very quickly, too. She took care of everything.
I had the device where I could talk back and forth and it was still in a case. I had it in my pocket and carried it all the time, but I lost it when I went out of town one day. I didn’t have it when I got home and my daughter checked it, going to places I have been to, and never found it. Medical Alert sent me a new of everything where I have one for my neck, another for my wrist and also the one that’s good wherever I go as long as I keep it charged. The devices were fine although I wish that the length of the cord of the alert around my neck is a little easier to adjust. I have trouble with it sometimes. I'm healthy but my legs are aching and I'm a little older now. So, I need whatever protection I can get. Also, I have a 70-year-old aunt who lives in Europe. And she had fallen and could not reach her phone and laid there for two days and she died. It motivated me to get a medical alert device. I would not want to lay on the floor and not being able to reach a telephone. People could fall down the stairs and can't get up. So if a person lives alone, having Medical Alert is a good idea. I have Medical Alert's necklace as of now, and I feel assured and better with it. It's a better protection than without it.
The only thing is their ads had shown us pictures of a person in the park so I thought it will also cover me if I am outside. But it is really just for the house. It's expensive for what I'm getting, too. I should check my device a little bit more. But I set a couple of false alarms, so I know it's working. I was a little disappointed with the wristwatch because it is really inconvenient. When I get up twice in the night, they told me not to wear the necklace because it could set it off. So, I thought I'd wear the wristwatch, but the clasp is ridiculous to put on. I need protection, too, when I'm getting up in the middle of the night. Sometimes, I carry the watch with me if I remember. I've already made it clear to Medical Alert that it's not senior-friendly at all and it's awkward.
Also, I thought when I fall, I have to speak right on the necklace, but actually I have to hear the machine three rooms away. So, it's a little not as wonderful as I thought. But if they couldn't get an answer, they would just come. On the other hand, I had one incident where my device went off accidentally and their response time was excellent. So, I'm relatively satisfied with it. I recommend Medical Alert to people.

I got this Medical Alert bracelet and for some reason, it was sending off false alarms even though I wasn't doing anything. A lady by the name of Kim called me while I was on vacation in Phoenix and she said that I needed to buy the necklace. She said it would cost $45 so I went ahead and purchased it. I told her that I would not be back in San Antonio - my mailing address - for two weeks so I asked her to hold it until then.
She mailed it out immediately and told me that she already sent the order. She also told me that she was going to mail the lockbox so people wouldn't tear down the door if they couldn't get a hold of me. It's because I'm 77 years old. I'm wobbly and I've fallen down several times. And even though I'm living at the apartment right below my daughter, I'm somewhat living on my own. I asked them to list down my daughter's name on the contact person first so she could come down and check and make sure I was okay if I wasn't answering the phone.
When I talked to the lady about that the first time, before I talked to Kim, she said she'd put down both of my daughters to let them know. I then called the representatives at Medical Alert and said that I was moving for about two weeks for the Christmas holidays in Arizona. When I went out for two weeks, I had this problem with my beeper. I was coming home and apparently, Kim had mailed the more sensitive necklace ahead of time. They said that they had tried to contact me. But at that time, I was on an airplane on my way to San Antonio. Finally, they got a hold of me in San Antonio and they said they couldn't figure out where I was at. I was checking into a hotel at that time when I finally got the signal.
They sent an EMS in Arizona who told Medical Alert that I wasn't there when they went out there. The EMS in Phoenix went home and then Medical Alert contacted my daughter and she said I wasn't there either because I was in a hotel in San Antonio. I also contacted the company and told them that I never received a lockbox. I talked to the guy about changing back to San Antonio but I couldn't get through. They said they were gone on New Year's Day. That evening, I came in on the 30th and nobody was there to answer the day I was back in San Antonio. I did that when I checked in but when I came back to my apartment on the 31st, I couldn't reach anybody. They said that they weren't expecting calls and to call back customer service during another time.
Finally, I came back on the 2nd and tried to contact them to tell them about my experiences. I asked what was going on and that I was getting all these alarms but I didn't touch my wristband. I put the sensitive alarm thing on and found that it connected again and something went off. I went to the mailbox when I came the 31st, got the necklace and put it on, thinking that would be helpful. But the guy, who I could hardly understand, said it was a sensitive instrument and that I shouldn't be moving around a lot. I told him that I exercise and do all these stuff. He said that I should use the wristband instead. I also told him about all the connections that I couldn't figure out but he couldn't figure them out either. My issues never got it resolved and I never got the lockbox too.
With my experience, I was not concerned about me, but my daughters were panicking. My daughter said that I needed to get rid of the device is that was the way it was going to react. But I like the thing. In fact, I got the wristband on right now because I'm getting ready to go out of town. But the necklace is so sensitive and I don't want to put it on my neck. If it's going to be that way, why have it? The other thing too, it was sitting in my post office. The rep mailed it to me and she just put it in an envelope with a bunch of bubble wrap. I thought that maybe somehow the device went off or possibly this wristband. But they said it was 5:30 in the afternoon that they got all the calls. By that time, I had already reached San Antonio so I didn't know what's going on.
Also, I tried their customer service and we weren't communicating and he wasn't really that interested. My wife worked for QVC and they had a time thing where they had to get the customer off to get to the next one. That's the way the rep worked. Also, when I try to call them, they're either busy or it's after-hours. I go through the lines and I don't know which one I need to talk to. I try technical and I get these guys from India and they don't know what to do. I would really appreciate any assistance they could give me to tell me what to do like on the necklace thing. I'm paying $45 for three months and that's a lot of money. I'm on a pension.
It's a nice device and it's supposed to help me when I fall like when I take shower and that happens. But what if I fall down in the middle of the street and I can't push the button and pass out? I like the idea that they'll contact EMS, Glacier and I'm really satisfied with the security of it, but they said numerous times that they couldn't locate me in Downtown, San Antonio and at my apartment. My telephone here is blocked sometimes by the trees. I called customer service and they said to call AT&T which I did and they said they were working on that. But my signal goes up and down.
Also, it doesn't register back with the device I wear on my belt when I'm out. The one I took with me on my trip, the lady suggested I plug it in and not take off the device. That was really handy and I liked that device, the way I can either slip it on or put through my belt. That was wonderful. But at this point and with all that's going on, I'm dissatisfied with Medical Alert.
Once before too while I was here, they called me but I hadn't touched it. The wristband didn't light up and it's supposed to when I touched it. The only time it lit up was when they called me and left a message and I pressed it. I said it was a false alarm. In a very strange way though, it's kind of reassuring that Medical Alert is on top of it. I wanted them to contact my daughter when I was staying with them but I never got back to tell them that I was in San Antonio. I tried but I couldn't get through. They all were very busy on the 800 number that I have here.
I'm sorry that I've had the bad experiences but my concern is my daughters are really kind of aggravated by it. They get real emotional that I'm dying. They're very concerned that I can have a heart attack or something else might go wrong. Both of them have young kids so they don't need to be bothered about me. I don't want them to knock down the door in the apartment complex. I didn't use the device or even hook it up for two months because I was moving and I couldn't get telephone calls all the time. I had to go outside and I couldn't do that with this system. It just doesn't work really good that way. I had one guy call me and he said to just take it and put that thing inside. I didn't understand what he was saying though.
Hi Frank,
I am just circling back on your review. I know Susan spoke with you a few weeks ago to sort your issues. I live in an apartment by myself, I’m 93 years old and I've had two heart attacks in my lifetime. That's why I have the Medical Alert device with me all the time. I keep it tucked in my brassiere and not dangling out where I will hit it. I hated that black chain they sent it with, though, but I have the lovely silver chain that I put it on that goes with the rest of my jewelry. I put it on a longer chain, so there's no drag on it at all. That makes it easier. I can tuck it into a brassiere and it stays there, and I know it's there. I can just touch it and it would go off but I'm very cautious. When I hug somebody, I hug by bending back. I have grandchildren that like to hug me, so I have to be very careful. Also, I don't wear it at night, but I have it right beside the bed. I have it on in the shower, and I've never had a problem. I don't have to wait for somebody to come and bathe me. I get in the shower by myself.
The first time I ever had used it was four years ago when we had a car accident. I really appreciate having it because the last time I had a heart attack, I was at the hairdresser. All of a sudden, I passed out and the ambulance was there in a matter of minutes and they had me in the hospital in a matter of minutes. Their response was very quick. They wouldn't have been there that quickly if not for Medical Alert because my hairdresser would've had to make the calls.
It gives me a sense of confidence because I'm an active person. I have people in for lunch, I have bridge clubs and I go to the University Women's club. I'm very active in the community and I know that wherever I am, it's there for me. I never go out without it on. The fact that I have it gives my family comfort too. I have three sons here in the city, and they are very happy that I got it. It has gone off three times and I'm really ashamed of it because they were accidents. But, Medical Alert has been very good. I just tell them what happened and that's it. I'm very satisfied with it. I would recommend it to anyone because I know how fast it works. More people would be comfortable if they have it.
Yes, our system is really great for active people. I am glad to know that when you needed us, we were there for you.

My father is coming close to 95 years old and we thought it was a good idea for him to have Medical Alert because he falls quite a bit and he usually needs help for that. I did the setup and testing for him. We are currently at our family cottage in British Columbia, but my father’s main address is in Alberta, and we go back and forth. With the exception of this last time, when I set it up, I notify Medical Alert that my dad is changing addresses and I do a test. It takes an unusually long time for their people to answer and I’ve noted that on more than one occasion. I hear the signal saying, “Dialing your call” and that happens usually for five times. Then, there is a pause and somebody comes on. I’m with my dad about 95% of the time but on occasion, he is on his own and if he needs it, somebody needs to answer it more quickly than what we’re getting from the testing.
Also, sometime before Christmas, we got a call from somebody in their Oklahoma office encouraging us to change to a newer pendant, one that would detect falls. But it was sent to us without any instructions, so I had to phone Medical Alert because there was no way I could have figured it out. Then I found out that it’s very sensitive so he should take it off when he’s sleeping and, even more importantly, it’s only good if he’s near the receiver. So, we kept it for about a month and sent it back. He’s quite happy with the original pendant. He wears it all the time, except when showering. I’m with him so much, he doesn’t really need the device but it’s not that expensive and it’s like insurance for the odd time that I go up golfing and he’s on his own.
Another thing is when their rep was giving me instructions on how to use the new pendant, I wanted to clarify with her what happens if my dad needs help and I’m not here. I’m on his Medical Alert’s information as somebody to notify. The gal responded that they would call an ambulance first and then call me. I would want to be called first and if they can’t reach me, then an ambulance. If he inadvertently hits the button and an ambulance is dispensed, it’s good that somebody’s coming to check on him, but if it’s not really needed, then that ambulance is tied up. That’s not a good utilization of an essential service. The ambulance could be going somewhere else. Whenever I’ve had to call them for help or information, though, they are always helpful. Sometimes, I have to jump through a few loopholes because I do not end up with the right department. But I eventually get to who I should be talking to and they’ve always been very polite.

I live alone and if I took a fall, it might be a while before my family member would try to contact me so it made sense for me to have a Medical Alert system. If I fell and couldn’t get to a phone, I have a button to push. I’ve had it for several years now and I wear it when I’m at home, though I don't think it works outside my home. Usually, I wear it around my neck but once in a while, I stick it in a robe pocket and it’s relatively convenient. I tested it a month ago and they responded in less than a minute. It seemed like it was off for a while, and a battery had to be replaced yesterday. They’re back on now and everything seems to be fine. I pay for the service once every three months and they’ve also brought their charge down a little bit to better compete with other companies offering a similar service. I would recommend them.
Hi Joan,
We do have Mobile Elite which has a GPS function and works outside of the home and is great for active people who need our safety device.
Please let me know if you would like someone to reach out to you to tell you more about it. Or just give us a call and tell someone you're interested to know more about Mobile Elite version of Medical Alert!

My husband and I are elderly. If he falls, I cannot pick him up. He's much heavier than I am so we wanted to be sure that if he was home alone and I was away, that he would have access to help. We've had the Medical Alert system for quite some time and we've used it at least three times. They responded right away and speaking to them was very pleasant. They're very helpful, knowledgeable about their product and I have no complaints. I feel less worried and more independent with the device. I'm very satisfied and we just got a new button that detects fall, so I'm happy with that. I would recommend Medical Alert.

My husband and I are in our 80s and he had a stroke. He would go walking and was afraid that if he fell, no one will know where he was. So, we got a medical alert as a matter of safety and to get our kids off our back. He has the device with him when he goes out. If he’s out in the yard or down the street, he has a way of contacting someone. I also wore it one day when I went for a walk. It works out great and it’s a security blanket. I like the little GPS thing that you carry in your pocket so that they can find you if you’re on a side street. You’re not confined to the house. While cleaning, the button got pressed accidentally. We told Medical Alert it was a false alarm so they put it down as a test, and their people were very helpful.
Glad it was just a false alarm!

My mom lives with me and she's going to be 91 years old this week. When I go away, I worry, so I got the Medical Alert for her. If something would happen while I'm not here, she just has to push the button and they'll take care of it and they'll call me. We check the device periodically like we're supposed to, and when we go to the machine to test it, it tells us step by step, and somebody is there right away. They responded quickly. We got a new button recently. If she would fall, it would automatically go to an app to push it. She wears the device to make me feel better. She uses the necklace and she doesn't even realize it's there. I hope Medical Alert continues to do what it's supposed to do and if I really do need it, it's going to work.

I'm disabled and sometimes I'm here by myself. Having the device gives me a little assurance. I like the wristband the best but I changed it to the necklace because of the fall. I’ve used the button when I needed the rescue squad and when I pushed it, I was sitting at my table and I could talk to them right through my machine. I also trained my five-year-old to use it if I'm actually down. She knows how to press the button and go through the machine. I like Medical Alert. I have a risk of falling all the time. I get lightheaded and can't find the floor for a second or two. I wear my Medical Alert device around my neck all the time and unless I need it, I don't pay any attention to it. The only time I take it off is if I take a shower because I don't want to get a lot of water in it, although they said it's okay to get it wet. I wear my device to where the button on the side is next to my chest all the time. I’ve had Medical Alert for at least three years and have used it a couple of times when I fell and couldn't get up by myself. I had to call and get help for them to come get me up. It has worked fine every time I've needed it. And the response times for me have been good. I just had to push the button and in a minute, somebody came out.
I can use my Medical Alert device anywhere. I can go where I want to without thinking about falling and getting hurt. I don't worry about it and I'm doing fine. My son is next door and I can be over there, and an alert will be answered. It's about a yard support and it's nice that it reaches that far. I've told several people about Medical Alert and how it works. I also told them the number to call to sign up for it because it really gives peace of mind when you know you're covered. And even in the middle of the night, you can get help.

We had comfort and security knowing that everything is fine. The only time that we actually used it was when we were setting it up to test to make sure it worked fine. We've had Medical Alert for seven years. We heard about it and I got it for my wife. She started wearing it because she wasn't doing the best in the world and I was working. But she never used it and she didn't wear it a whole lot. Then in 2015, before she had a stroke, I had her wearing it more. Then we got a wrist band here years ago because she was having trouble with the necklace. Three months ago, I got the one with the motion sensor on it. The new one is very sensitive and I make it go off quite a bit. I accidentally set it off the first night I had it. All I know was that when I was in the bed, I had to wake up and answer the phone and tell them that I was sorry. After that happened twice, I quit wearing it to the bed. Then I was getting out of the shower one day and noticed I couldn't wear it in the shower anymore. But I'm trying to wear it as much as I can.
When I had the other one, the one that doesn't have the motion sensor, I was wearing it at night. This one here, I can't so I'm hoping that if I do ever fall that it will help me out. I was in the hospital majority of the month of October, so I've got some more physical problems. I called the doctor and I told him what my blood pressure was and he said, "Either you call 911 or I do." I know that if I was to need this, I could tell that it would work. I know when my wife was wearing it a year ago and one time I didn't get to her quick enough, and the police and the fire department both came.
However, somebody from Medical Alert keeps calling me, wanting me to get the device. I'd hang up on them and tell them, "I've already got one." I don't know why they keep calling. I've told them a couple of weeks ago that my wife had passed away and they said they were going to get it taken care of. Back when I ordered the device with the fall detection, I told them that she had passed away and I was the one wearing it. They said they were going to get take care of it. I've called them whenever I had to reactivate a button and undoubtedly, nobody relays the information. If I have to go through this very much more, I may have to just cancel it all together and mail it back to them and take it out with somebody else. Other than that, I recommended Medical Alert to another lady and she used it two different times. Right now, she's in a nursing home, but it worked very well for her.

My kids and I are glad I got Medical Alert. Living alone in a small town, I decided that it was a good insurance policy. If something happens, somebody could get in. I have the one that’s on my wrist rather than the necklace. I used the button accidentally one time I was out doing some work in the garage. They asked how I was and made sure I was all right. They explained that they had called my home phone then they called my cell phone. They were very pleasant. And I told them, I inadvertently hit the thing that I wear on my wrist when I was working and didn’t even realize it. But it was very good. Every time anybody has called, they’ve been very helpful.
I feel safer that I've got it on. If something does happen, all I've got to do is push the button and the people know to come to the back door. That’s where I've got the key to get in. They’ve got the combination and the information right inside the door. My wife was sick long enough that I know 95% of the first responders who are going to come. They may not know me personally, but they know who I am, and they know the house because they’ve been here a lot over the years. And they know where they can find the information because I've got it on the refrigerator just inside the back door like the guy told me to. And they’ve got all my kids’ information to where they can get a hold of everybody. I have recommended Medical Alert to several people.

My mom is independent but if someone isn't around and she needs help, then she would be able to get it through her Medical Alert. She has it for safety reasons and it also gives us a feeling of reassurance to know that she has it. She also knows that it's there if she needs to use it. But we've had some issues with the strap that she wears on her wrist. They had to send new ones but they didn't send one that was small enough for her wrist. It would fall right off of her wrist and apparently, one person had said that they couldn't really see on their screen exactly what size it is. We finally have one now that fits her though.
All our communication seems to be always through the States and that is fine. But the service is being offered in Canada and we can't pay in Canadian Dollar. It seems that if something is $39 for someone in the States and we were to get the same thing here for her, then it would cost much more. There is quite a difference in the price for us to have it per month and I would like to see that that was not an issue. I also wish the system was more portable where we could take it to our place when mom is with us. Otherwise, we've had good satisfaction with Medical Alert. We've had the service for four years and I would recommend it.

I also wear it at night. I had to take out the new one because it kept going off when I turned over quickly. It went off twice on me because I got into bed quickly and the fall made it go off. They responded very quickly before I could even get from my bedroom to shut it off. They told me to wear the old one at night and not wear the one that will show a fall so, I change them out in the morning. In addition, they've helped me and instructed me to get a better one that would take over if I fall. They also helped me get a lock box for the house so the police can get in. Except when my grandson comes and stays with me, I live alone. My Medical Alert is shaped like an egg, white, thick, and has a black button on the back. It's also bulky and I don't like it. I wear it all day and although I don't wear it in the shower, I keep it close.
I pushed the small one by accident. It got in the small pocket on the front of my purse. I went to my son's and when I arrived home, I received a message that my emergency button was on and they were asking what was wrong. I didn't know anything about it and when I felt my neck, my Medical Alert wasn't there. I looked through my purse, the ground over here at my house, and at my son's. We couldn't find it. Finally, I checked my purse again and checked the pockets in the front, and there it was.
I am very happy you are satisfied with your Medical Alert device!

I was feeling faint a lot and when I was in the city, I had difficulty breathing so my son decided that I should have the Medical Alert device because he’s not always around. I wear it around my neck and put it on its little holder at night because if it's around my neck, there's every opportunity I'd roll on it. Then, the Medical Alert team would be calling and waking me up. The different times that I've mishandled it, they phoned within minutes, if not sooner. They were concerned and wanted to make sure that I was all right and I assured them that I was. I was just a little confused, though, one time because I've been thinking of getting the bracelet and they told me that it would be fine and that they could exchange it at no cost. But they sent me a bill for the amount that it would cost. Other than than, Medical Alert fits into my lifestyle and would tell others to see if it fits theirs.

My Medical Alert device works fine and I like it. The reps are nice, but I wish they’d answer the phone more often. I call and call, and I don’t get an answer. I've tried calling during the best time of the day and that didn’t make any difference. However, the fire department is awesome and I love them. They’re here within 10 minutes at the most, but I have a key lock on the front of my door to hold my key so they can get in, and they don't seem to get that message when I call through Medical Alert. I have to tell them myself how to get into the house, so if I was out cold, it wouldn’t do me a bit of good.
At first I felt more secure with Medical Alert, but I didn’t always have my button near me and I realized I could call 911, which worked just as well. I've used Medical Alert once or twice and called 911 the rest of the time. More than for my own well-being, I keep them because it makes my daughter feel good. She’s in North Carolina and I'm in Albuquerque, plus I'm 76 years old and I fall down a lot so she wants to know that there’s somebody who can get to me.

I have the Life Protect 24/7 and it has lots of units with it which cost more money. I just received it in the mail and charged up the battery. The device is worn around my neck and I can bring it anywhere but it is big for my neck and it only goes 400 feet. So, if I leave the house to go anywhere, I had to take this other unit with me that goes on a charger. I wear it all the time although I never used it yet. And, I'm trying to decide which one of these units I want to keep.
One concern I had was when the device was not running correctly and Medical Alert doesn’t answer a call on a Saturday or Sunday. It was the first time and I was scared because I didn’t know what to do. Then, I learned what to do now, I unplug and plug it again and it corrects itself. But, if something else happened to it on the weekend I wouldn't be able to talk to anybody. If it's not working you can't push the button and get them. There should be someplace I can get a hold of somebody that would tell me what to do.
Hi Johanna, Please let me know if you would like me to have someone call you to discuss what to do in these kinds of situations.
Thanks for you being a valued customer.
Stay safe!

My daughter came up with the idea of purchasing this Medical Alert device, and I feel safe with it. It went off one time tight after I got it, and then the phone rang. I talked to the people from Medical Alert and they were friendly. I’m going to start wearing the watch though, since I’d rather wear that when I go out than I would the necklace. I would definitely recommend Medical Alert to others.

I have used it four times now and the Medical Alert team responded quickly. I could understand the words and it sounded all right to me. I’ve been very happy with Medical Alert. I got it after I had a back surgery and had been a lot incapacitated by myself if I’m home alone. Then, I had another back surgery since I’ve started the Medical Alert. So, I’m still having home health care people come in and help me in the shower. Having the button puts my husband's mind at ease because he feels he can leave the house and not have to worry quite as much. I wear the bracelet all the time since I didn’t like the medallion. I could hit it and it would go off too easily accidentally. The last time I really needed them, I was surprised that it took them more than a couple of minutes to respond. But my experience was satisfactory. Other than that, I hit the button only when I get a test notice from them.

I have macular degeneration and everywhere I go, I have to be with someone because they have to take me. I have also fallen down multiple times and had broken bones. In case of emergencies, I thought that my husband might be gone or in the wrong part of the house and couldn't hear me. So I wanted to have a way to let people know where I am. I got the Medical Alert and I wear it on my wrist when I'm in the house. There's no reason to wear it other than that because it doesn't do the signal that goes to other places.
I also have the necklace but it didn't work correctly when I tested it. It just kept making signals. I told the representatives that it was a test and they said they had turned it off. Then a few minutes later, it went off again without me doing anything. So they asked me if I was touching it, but I told them I wasn't. When they thought they had it fixed, it went off again a few minutes later. Finally, they told me that I had to drive out and throw it somewhere where it was far enough for it not to have the signal getting on to my house. It was kind of a hard way to disposed of something, but I did that. Then they said I would be receiving another one in a couple of days and it took a week for me to get it. So now I've got my wrist one and the other one is still in the sack. I've never taken it out of the bag and I didn't want to go through that again.

I have very poor balance and I've had 10 falls since I moved to this particular town a year and a half ago. I walk with a cane but I still have to be very careful about falling because I’ve had some serious injuries that have led me to the emergency room or to surgery. It seems like I'm forgetting to lift my foot when I’m walking through the door of a store and they’ve got a raised platform out there that had been there ever since. Being on Medical Alert gives me a sense of security. The devices that I got in the program make me pay more attention to where I’m walking and what kind of terrain it is. If I’m walking on a sidewalk and then I’m stepping down onto the street, I have to have a hold of the cane in order to give me steadiness as I make that downward step.
I also feel a little bit more of assisted. I can get somebody to me quickly if I do indeed have an accident. They’re very professional and they call and check on me at the littlest thing. Sometimes the wrist band gets in the way and sometimes I knock it open depending on what I’m doing. That has been a problem occasionally. Sometimes, if I drop my pendant on something hard as I’m taking it off, then it’ll ring for a fall. Once, I was mowing my front grass and two ambulances came up on me. I didn’t know I had pushed the button or see them drive up. They walked up to me while I was still mowing and asked if I called for an ambulance. I told them I was obviously not hurt. It’s one of those silly things that happen if I'm not really careful. That’s partly because of me and the fact that I have such a poor balance. Sometimes, I cause it to happen.

I had a tumor in my brain and it led me to have seizures and a stroke. Plus my balance is off. I started out with with GreatCall, which was my husband’s account. When he passed away, I called them to put the account in my name and somebody called me. They said that I needed a new necklace since I'm by myself and I agreed. They sent me a new necklace but it was not compatible with the monitor that I had so they sent me a new one which was the Medical Alert device. I had to use it for an emergency one time, and they called on the telephone and they were there in minutes. It has been great and I feel safer knowing that I have Medical Alert.
However, now I am paying both GreatCall and Medical Alert. I have medical challenges so my niece comes once a month to take care of me. She was also paying my bills and she asked why I'm paying GreatCall and Medical Alert. She canceled my Medical Alert but I told her that I don’t have a monitor now, so she said she’s going to straighten that out.

I'm disabled and I've been with Medical Alert for so long. I feel the security that I have it although I've never had to use it over the years. I have accidentally pushed the button and the response time was very good. I like the device around my wrist rather than my neck, and for years, I've had the wrist. Medical Alert sent me both but I've always used the wrist one and the band was like a wristwatch. The last time the batteries went, I called up and they said they would send me a new one. The new band wasn’t the same kind, it was Velcro. I have very small wrists and when I tried the tightest it could be, it was dangling off my wrist and wasn't coming on. I called them and they said that's all they have now and that I could bring it to a jeweler, but when I looked at it, it's not made that way. It doesn’t have the little stick that goes in the holes of the watch so I had to resort to wearing the one around my neck, which I really don't like.
Hopefully, Medical Alert can go back to that wrist-type option. If not, I might as well enter a different company because I really don't like the neck one. Also, a month or so ago, I wasn't feeling well and I got a very high-pressure call from somebody at Medical Alert, trying to get me to get the one with the faller. I sent it back and they said they would adjust my account. I've always been very satisfied with my experience with Medical Alert and I would recommend them. However, I didn't like that high-pressure person calling me. I gave in because I wasn't feeling well but I just wanted to get her off the phone.

I fell 16 times and had to use it to get someone to come help get me out of the floor. I was trying to get from my wheelchair into my reclining chair and every time I try to get up, I would fall.
When I had to use it, I liked that their team always answer me back. However, it’s sensitive and as soon as I would mash it, it would always start an emergency and I don't like it. When it does, the emergency man has to beat it. Otherwise, I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t been through it a lot of times because my son found me lying on the floor a couple of times and I didn’t know how long I had lain there. I looked into Medical Alert and had such a good response from the first guy I spoke with that I decided that if they could be that pleasant then I would go and sign up. I fell three times and their response was immediate. It was really wonderful and I'm very happy with Medical Alert. They provide excellent customer service and it's a comfort to know that I have something that can get me assistance if I need it.

I came to live with my daughter 10 years ago and I had a heart condition. We have quite a large home to where you can’t hear from one room to another. I was by myself for a while around the house when the kids had things to do, and they both were working. I fell one time so I decided that I needed some security and I got a Medical Alert. I wear it 24/7. Last January, I fell in my bathroom at four o’clock in the morning on my birthday. When I hollered for the kids, I remembered to press my button and it reacted fast. It called us the emergency and reached out to the ambulance service. Our police called the house when the kids were already there helping me get up. I had no broken bones, but I hit my head and had a couple of black eyes. But otherwise, I’m doing good. It helped me quite a bit. If it hadn’t been for that and for me hollering for the kids, I would not have been here. I recommended Medical Alert to my friends.

I live alone and my closest relative is my son who’s three hours away so looking into Medical Alert was a good idea, in case I need them. I have been using their service for 3 years now and I had to use it at one point to get me to the emergency room. Their team’s response time was very good and they responded within five minutes. With Medical Alert, I enjoy my company, I have hobbies I look forward to and have friends that I have a meal with three times a week. I am confident that if I fall, it will be responded to if I'm wearing my button. I would recommend them.

I needed a medical alert device since I've been falling while I was walking for the last two years. I fell four times in 2016 and four times this year. The last time I fell was the last time I stopped walking with a walker and I’m in a wheelchair now. That last fall juggled everything loose and I've been having trouble the last two years with walking right. Apart from other ailments, I have a degenerative bone disease so some of the vertebrae in my spine are crammed down and the rest are bulging out at the back with a disc, and that’s why my legs don't work. My grandson and his wife used to get me up when I fell. I'm heavy-set and they'd lift me up a little bit and then I could scoot over towards the bed or into the chair. They'd pick me up by my arms and stick me in the chair. But the last time I fell, it was in the bathroom and there wasn’t much room to maneuver me anywhere.
I got a medical alert device from Medical Alert because there's nobody here now who can pick me up off the floor. The device was working all right when I called for a check. I knew that the fire department or ambulance people would come when I pressed the help button and they'd be here in 10 minutes, then they could get me up off the floor when I'm slammed forward.
My alert device just sits on the desk and it's not in the way, and it doesn't bother me. Once in a while, I get in the shower with it around my neck, but I have to remember when I take my clothes off and it comes off too, that I have to put it back on. I lost the pendant one day and I had to go to every room to see where it was, and it was on the bathroom floor where I had taken my gown off to get dressed for the day. Also, I get so many aches and pain, and Medical Alert is the fastest way to call my hospital. I've got a lock on my door and I tell the emergency response or hospital people I'm talking with over the phone what the number key is so they can get into my house. So, Medical Alert makes a big difference. I recommend them to anybody that needs the medical alert device for the reason I got it, which was for falling, and my girlfriend needs it.

I've been very satisfied with Medical Alert. I picked a number of different organizations and I mailed them for information and I ended up choosing Medical Alert. I'm 82 and my children insisted I get it because I still climb ladders to do things. They're in Pittsburg and in Maryland. This was a way of making sure I would be taken care of. Medical Alert calls me when my alarm goes off accidentally and their response time is very quick. They also talk me through at the end of the month when I try it to make sure it's working. Plus they're very courteous and concerned.
I put the device around my neck but I have to put it inside my bra because it goes off when I bend over and it hits the sink. It's very sensitive. They called me twice when this went off when it dropped off the bed. Evidently it went through a process where they would assume that I was falling. I'm very pleased with them and would pass information about them to a friend.

Before my husband passed away, he was not able to get out of bed and if he did, he could very nicely fall, so we got the Medical Alert for him. If he can't get up to help me if I fell, then that was the biggest push for getting it. I wear the device all the time except when I go to the swimming pool. I take it out and put it in the locker because there's enough people around if I should do something silly. As soon I could come out of the pool, I put it back on again. I've had good experiences and it's a comfort knowing Medical Alert. If I fell in the basement, I can't get the telephone, so I feel a little better about having it. I could push it and I hope they can hear it from the basement.
Unfortunately, in the time that I have been with them, I made three false calls. I've got the device on my neck and the button is towards my body, so I can't jam it from outside, but it still gets beat. Every time I accidentally hit the button, I've been in the house within 10 to 20 feet of the button, so I can't respond. But the reps respond quite well. I'd be a little annoyed with me if I made a false call, but they’ve been very nice to me and they would help.

One time, my husband pushed the button as he was just trying it out and all at once, we had the cops out here to check on us. While we knew it worked, my husband was very embarrassed. I had a stroke and a heart attack and I’ve been lucky so far. I try to be careful but I don’t want to just sit back and not do anything. If I sit still, I’ll eventually lose the little bit of strength I have so I want to maintain what I have. I also had an accident in ‘07 which caused me to have one of my legs cut in half. And after having to go into therapy, I learned to live with that. The hardest part was I was by myself when I had a fall. I needed something to help me to be alert. If I fall, I have no way of getting to where I need to get to when they’re trying to help me. They have to take my things and just scatter all over the place and it’d be hard for me to get in and out of an area. And that’s what made me really want a Medical Alert.
My husband got it for me. I wear the alert around my neck but I’m having problems with my alert because it will go off if I bump into something. Nonetheless, my Medical Alert fits into my lifestyle because if I get into a problem, they’re here asap. The first time I noticed something, my cellphone dialed the police for me and I noticed the police came out but I hadn’t called them. They said, “Well, your phone called.” I needed somebody to know what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. And if anything happens medically, they will be here and it can help me if I lose my mobility. Medical Alert is good and safe to have. I recommend anybody to have a Medical Alert.

I'm diabetic and I have high blood pressure and I just recently had emergency heart surgery. So being here by myself, plus I'm unsteady on my feet, it's scary. With my Medical Alert I know someone will come and check. The device is comfortable and I wear it all the time around my neck. I have two buttons -- one of which goes to the alarm system.
I mainly wear the Medical Alert when I'm out because I'm going out my door to go get my car and the next thing I know I'm on the ground. However my Medical Alert goes off a lot and I told them that if you fart it goes off and sometimes I don't even know that it's triggered. But they’re very efficient as far as responding as soon as it goes off, and they call right away.
Last week they had the fire company, EMT's and the police here because it went off twice and then it went off a third time and they couldn't get a hold of me and I didn't even know it. They called my sister and they sent all the departments here. I'm very pleased with Medical Alert and I feel very secure now that I have the service. I recommended Medical Alert to my neighbor next door because she's 98 and she lives by herself. I told her that the Medical Alert would be the best thing for her.

Should anyone ask, I’d tell them what the Medical Alert does and how it would help them if they fall.

I'm 87 years old and I'm very healthy. But because of my age and that I'm alone my children told me to have a Medical Alert device. My daughter lives 10 minutes away but I could fall. Although I'm alone at least I have this device. I feel very confident with it. We own a jewelry store and they put a long silver chain with the device for me instead of the black thing. It looks better now. But I keep it usually under my clothes. When I'm in the house I have it on top. I wear it if I go in the yard. I'm still covered for that since I have it on while I do a little gardening.
I like the Medical Alert a lot. I was interested in this new thing that could hang around my neck which they called me about. I tried it but it was ridiculous. It's for somebody that can't move out of their chair. As soon as I took the thing off it rang. That happened four times. I went to where we had a business and while I was there the company called due to my alarm. Another when the device went off the alarm system called the police department. But this was my alarm system in my home and in our business. Then they called my daughter as she was my backup. They asked her if everything was okay since my alarm went off. My daughter told them that I was there with her. I mailed that device and said that it was going off. I asked if they've had problems with this but they didn't really say much. They gave me my $100 back right away.
They also sold me a lock with my combination on it from my front door as it was complicated due to having an alarm system. I told them that the key was in the garage, in a bag and then they had to do this. This was a lot easier for them. They know now that it's on my front door, they know the combination and they can just come in. I have them on for three years and I wear it all the time. I've been fine. I always go to the machine and do what the instructions say and when the device went off the people from Medical Alert were very nice about it and they tried to explain. I like the Medical Alert a lot and I'm very pleased with it.

I'm 89 years old and I live by myself in the country. One of my sons talked to Medical Alert and got me one of their products as a safety device. Having it helps my peace of mind a lot and my doctor said she's glad I have it. Otherwise, my children might not have allowed me to live in my home by myself. It's an assurance for them that I'm okay. It also enables me to live in a familiar situation as I thoroughly enjoy the quietness of my home and my independence in it. I'm happy for me.
There were a couple of times that I had to call for help and use the Medical Alert. Before my husband died, he had Alzheimer's. He fell one time and I could not get him up. I pressed the button and the team’s response seemed to take a long time. But it might be because I had just worked myself to exhaustion. He was in the edge of the woods and I cut all the vines then put my walker down there trying to get him to pull up on my walker and walk back. I also had a false alarm several weeks ago at the opening day of hunting season. It was a suspicious looking situation when two vehicles stopped and communicated in front of my driveway so I called for help. But it turned out to be some hunters and the one that stopped there was my nephew. I still am embarrassed by it but I appreciated the Medical Alert team for answering that call soon and for coming. They called the police who then came and checked.
Last night, I had a false alarm again. I was trying to get undressed to go to bed, then I struggled with something and touched that button. Before that, one time I was sitting here studying my son's school lesson and the thing went off, too. I must have reached out to pick up a book and hit the button. I've had those two false alarms lately to which I was sorry. Medical Alert's reps have been responsive, polite and helpful. They've done well and if anybody asks, I would recommend Medical Alert.

I live alone and I wondered if I don't have Medical Alert and if I fall down the stairs, I’ll be down the stairs for a long time. I will keep the wristband on longer than I should as opposed to wearing the necklace because, with the necklace, I could be picking up something and bang against it. Every month, I am supposed to push the button three times and make sure that somebody answers me then I should say it was just a test. And I hadn’t been doing that because I never really saw what it was I had to do. I set the alarm off and I quickly push the button so I knew it was working which is also why I haven’t had a lot of experience with it. I could get along without the device but that’s just when I get into trouble.

So, I wear it inside-out and close to my body so that I don’t knock the button.
On the other hand, when the button has gone off, the Medical Alert team are very prompt. Since using Medical Alert, I feel more secure, now that my husband had already passed away. I have done everything they've told me and it's still blinking, and I don't know what to do about it. Nonetheless, it's nice to know that I have the full one now so that if I have a fall, they detect it. I really think that I'm doing okay, but it's here as a precaution and that's really what I have it for. I wear it when I remember and it's right here beside my bed. I don't wear it all the time but I know I should and I have to get better at that.
Medical Alert suggested that I wear the device close to my chest. I do so, but I can't open a jar. I squeezed my hand in the jar to try to open it, and next thing I knew, I got a yell, "Emergency. My mother lives in a retirement home and she needs to earn the apartment. And she needed to submit all of her expenses for the year. She doesn’t have a credit card so Medical Alert bills my credit card. I pay it and then I take the money out of my mother’s account so I asked Medical Alert if I could have a statement sent to me because I can't give my credit card statement for my mom.
I asked them one time and waited two months. I called back and asked them again and they still didn’t do it. And then, they offered me an alert button that would sense a fall. And when I got it, I requested the statement again along with the statement of the additional charge and never gotten any. They told me they'd send it and I understand that there's a process but I've never received the statement. And that is $330 a year that could go towards my mother’s medical expenses to help reduce her rent but we can't use it. I decided that if they didn’t send it to me, I'm not going to renew. I'll go with another company only because that statement would save her money.

Because my wife no longer needed the equipment, I contacted Medical Alert and was told to ship back the equipment for a pro rata refund. I shipped it and it was received by the company on Oct 4. It turned out that she had only used the unit for 6 months. I was quoted a refund of $269.94 and that it would be credited to my card in 10 days. Having heard nothing, I recontacted on 10/24 the refund section and was told that the sum would be returned by 11/24. On 11/28, after much anguish I was finally ably to speak to an agent. He stated that the refund would be on my card the next day. In closing I wish to say that I am not accustomed to being lied to by so many people. My impression after all this is that the company must be in financial difficulty and this is one way to improve the bottom line.Next day and day after...nothing.

I have tested the button and the last time was about one month ago. But as soon as I asked them anything, they're on the job. For one week, I wore the bracelet. But I didn't have to use it. I was covering up a sore on my arm. There was something that had to be removed off my arm. It was not because of the device at all but it was hurting or bothering me there. Then I had the necklace. I've always used the necklace but I only use it if I go outside.
I had to call them once when I fell just outside the door. I stepped on a pad laid down on the porch. I immediately turn around really quickly and got tied up in that thing. Luckily, the lady on the street waiting for me to come, came up the walk and found me sitting there. I had beckoned the people going down the street if they can help us. But they walked up and they didn't want to hurt their backs. So we've decided to just call Medical Alert, and the fire engine came in about 10 minutes and they just put me on my feet. They were more than happy to help me then.
In February my mom passed away. I contacted Medical Alert and returned the equipment. In May Medical Alert charged my credit card for the annual fee. I had to challenge the charge through my credit card company. It was removed from my credit card. That's when the 'Delinquency Notices' started coming. One time, the police showed up and they said that they got a call to come here. I told them that I accidentally triggered it and I didn’t realize that they were going to show up.
I once had to go to the hospital. We sent USB alarm and the EMT's came and they took me away in an ambulance. They tried to be down to about three minutes from the time they received the call to the time that they were able to get to my house in Palo, Alto. The ambulance driver went across the oncoming traffic and my son said that it was like the parting of the Dead Sea. I have the wristband and the one I wear around the neck. However, I don't use it very often because I'm not here most of the day. By the time I come home, I'm ready for bed and I don't wear it in bed because it's bulky and it's uncomfortable moving around. Also, it's a lot of money for me because I'm on my own supporting my husband in a home which I have to pay for, so I might hand my Medical Alert in.

I have Medical Alert for about two years now and it has helped me out a lot. My children got it for me but I've been paying for it. I test the button just when Medical Alert's reps would like to have it and they've responded well. Talking with their team has been great. I've used the device six times and I've never had a complaint about it. When I had an emergency, they sent somebody out right away. First, they called my son or my granddaughter, then they sent the fire department over here. I live about five blocks from the fire station. I've got a blind spot in my house and if I'm in there, I can't talk to my Medical Alert. They can't understand me or they can't hear me. But they'll send somebody out immediately anyway. I wear the device on my arm and having it makes me feel safer since I live by myself.

I live alone, I'm 85, and I have fallen. I have used the Medical Alert device twice and their response time is excellent and they came quickly. However, I'm not very pleased with my device. The bracelet that I wear keeps falling off my hand as it's too big. I called them up and I asked if they could send me another one. They told me no and that this is the only one they have that's compatible with the service I have. Also, when I pressed the button to check it out, I could barely hear them. I called them up to see if they could make it louder. They told me that it's just what it is and that if they don't hear me, then they'll telephone me. But that's not what I want. Their reps are very nice but I don't like the service.

My husband had a severe fall two years ago and again last year so his visiting nurse practitioner suggested that we get one of these buttons from Medical Alert. He stays in the house most of the time but I had felt secure with Medical Alert that he can smash the button if anything happens. We had a problem at the beginning when we had been told that we would have two buttons plus the GPS. It didn’t work that way so they had to redo it because we're both using the buttons. We needed two of the GPS kind and the first one they sent was just the original kit that had only one button and no GPS on it. That was a problem for a while but has already been solved. Then a month ago, we tried to check and the button couldn’t get all of the signals from our house but the team has been good and efficient. My daughter was the one who talked to them most and she said that the lady was very knowledgeable. There are no problems now.

My daughter was concerned because I live alone and I’m getting older. Before she went out and bought something, I went ahead and got Medical Alert. The pendant has been easy to use. Their people are very good at responding. I have the device that doesn’t reach out everywhere but in my immediate area. I feel very good about it and it gives me peace of mind.
One of their marketers talked me into trying out some updated device that will detect falls so that even if I were unconscious and not able to respond, they would be able to send somebody. They sent a device out and I activated it but within the first six days, there were four false alarms sent to the company. That was unacceptable. After that, I talked with one of their people. They said that maybe it was very sensitive. They would send me another one and I was to send the first one back. They sent me another one but I was not comfortable activating it. I sent both of them back with their label. In the note I sent with the package, I explained why I was sending the devices back. I also wanted the money back that they charged me on my credit card. Now I’m back to wearing the old one which I like. I’ve had it for several years and it’s reliable. I’ve been satisfied and I would recommend Medical Alert.

But I’m having a little problem right now and I talked to a lady last night because the power light keeps blinking. She said to wait about 72 hours, that it may be the battery and it may work itself out. If it doesn't, I am to call her back and they would replace the battery. Other than that, the Medical Alert people reps are very nice. One thing I still have to learn though is to check it ever so often to make sure it’s working.

The Medical Alert team tried to treat me nice but they lied to me, although it might have been accidental. When I got the system at first, everything went right. I set it off accidentally one time and people showed up by mistake. Then a couple of weeks ago, I fell out of my bed and the button went with me and I was upside down on top of it. It set an alert out and I heard my phone ring but couldn’t get to it because I was on the floor. Nobody showed up. I live by myself in an apartment downstairs from my son and I was lying on the floor for four hours before my son and daughter-in-law found me. I called Medical Alert the next day and I told them that I wanted to cancel.
The rep said, “Well, the reason why they didn’t come is that they tried to call your cell phone and you didn’t answer, so they figured you were okay.” I said, “Me not answering the phone, that would give me more cause to check on the person.” My phone sits up on a little table, and when I fall on the floor, I can't reach it. So that really pissed me off. Also, a couple of weeks before that, I called because I lost my GPS for my device. She said, “Give it another try. I'll give you a $50 gift card from here.” I paid up until next May and she's going to extend it until June, which is fine, but if it's not going to work and help me, I don’t want it. I had to pay $30 insurance but didn’t get it free. If I paid the $30 for the insurance, everything would be covered so I did that and I still have never gotten that GPS. Luckily, I found my GPS.

My wife has multiple sclerosis. She hasn’t had any falling episodes for a long time which is good. I’m in and out of the house and I have a cellphone. If she’s adjacent to the house phone, she can get me. But if not, I figured that she should have a pendant regardless and in that way, she can get some help on its way. I always remind her if I'm leaving the house or anything like that to keep that pendant handy. I’m a retired firefighter EMT. If she calls 911 and tell her that, they get out here real quick. They’ve been out a couple of times. But we're kind of working it every which way to cover all the bases.
I've been very pleased with Medical Alert because they have worked with me. They get ahold of me if something’s awry and we get it ironed out real quick. Over the years I have changed cards and payment methods, and they don’t get too antsy with me. I've had no problems with that and no problems with anybody answering the phone. And on the tests that we've done, they’re real prompt. The biggest issue we have with testing it is we don’t test it enough. The last time I talked to somebody there, they said, “You gotta test that thing weekly.” I think they’re just trying to encourage me test it but I don’t know what they do with it.
They changed pendants quite a while back and I've got a blinking trouble light on that thing, but everything works. I've had it for a long time and they tell me all the time to look if I can find where the other one is. And then, if I find it, to take it off a couple of miles and drop it. Outside of that, everything works fine. I would recommend Medical Alert. They’re very cordial. And when you have a problem of any kind, they work it out for you to your satisfaction. And more than that even, it’s to your understanding. We get a little tiff between the years once in a while, and I don’t quite follow what they’re telling me, but they’ve been really good.

I was having a quiet night watching TV and it would keep doing it. I phoned them several times, and each time, they said that they've fixed it. The fix would last for two or three weeks before it starts firing off again. So I phoned them and told them to take the unit out. If I'm going to die, I'm going to die. I'm 77 years old and I've had a quadruple bypass. I just got to the point where I didn't care.
The lady talked me into trying a new unit. It's a lot smaller and if I have a problem, they can trace me and send help to wherever I may be. I was in my house for 48 years, before I moved into an apartment about four months ago. I'm getting used to it, but this new unit seems to be really good and better than the one I had. Medical Alert has been life-saving and I have nothing but praise for it. Here I am, 40 years younger than them and I’ve had to use Medical Alert several times because I have lupus and I’ve had more bad days sometimes than good. Where we live, the houses are far apart. We're also surrounded by the lake and you can’t get help when you need it. It’s one thing after another around here. A couple of weeks ago, I jumped off a tractor and I thought I was a goner for sure. Another time, I whacked my head and I was black and blue and bleeding everywhere. Somebody was there and she ran back to my house. I pressed the Medical Alert button and before she came back, I had called 911. She goes, “Boy, they’re fast.” But, nope. It wasn't her. They were glad I was wearing the little button on my wrist too.
The only problem we have is that we live on a lake. There are huge bushel trees all around us and I don’t get a signal everywhere. There are no two houses alike either and though my neighbor might be able to get a signal, I don’t. It’s really iffy because of the hills around here too. If I’m out on the boat, I have no signal but I got a big horn and when you keep doing that long enough somebody’s going to wake up. With living in a small town, there's not a whole lot of places you can go without finding a volunteer fireman. Then again, it’s getting cold and it’s no fun down here anymore. Besides, I’m a city girl and I’m ready to go back to the city now. Once we get out on city roads, we’re fine.

We bought this house here in Warsaw and my husband hadn't retired yet and the stipulation was somebody had to live here. I moved down here by myself in November 2013. My husband told me to get one of those alert buttons so I got Medical Alert. When he moved in here two years later I was going to turn it in. But he can't hear well. If he's in his room and I scream bloody murder, he wouldn't hear it. So I decided to go ahead and keep it. I set my Medical Alert off accidentally three or four times. It was when I went to take my blouse or my pajamas off. I had to rush to the bedroom to tell them I was all right. Whoever I talked to said I needed to have my necklace upgraded. I was told it was not going to cost extra but they started charging $10 extra.
I called and talked to a guy named Peter. He was a gem and he didn't get upset when I was cranky with him. He was the sweetest thing. He told me that he was not going to charge me the $10. I ended up telling him what a nice guy he was. I asked how would they get into the house if I needed some service so he sent me a lockbox. I sat there and I could not get the thing that fits over the doorknob to work. I called up and I felt like a dummy. This one guy kept telling me to push the silver thing. On the door that comes open there's a little knob there and I thought that's what I needed to push. I kept trying to work it. The guy then put his supervisor on the phone. I kept looking at it then I found the silver thing they were talking about.
Everybody I dealt with has been good and polite. Nobody's yelled at me for accidentally setting off my alarm. I took it off the chord because the first time I set it off I figured it was too low. They called my husband since I didn't get to the phone in time because I was in the kitchen and I didn't hear it. My husband called and asked, "What's wrong? What's going on?" He got a call and saw an ambulance coming up the road. I told him that everything was fine. Medical Alert's team was really polite but I was too embarrassed.
I put it on a shorter chain. It's stainless steel chain so it's hard for me to get off and on by myself. I just grin and bear it because I don't use it at night, however, I'm concerned that I'm going to push the button when I'm tossing and turning in bed. But I think it's amazing how fast they got here that one time and how fast they call. I recommended Medical Alert to a friend and she already got one.

I have the one that you put around your neck. I went to the senior center and everybody was talking about this. One of them asked me if it works everywhere I go. And I got one now that I can use even for a distance outside the house when I’m shopping around.
I always take it inside and I haven’t had any bad experience with it. When I go to the senior center, I let the lady that runs the whole thing there that in case I pass out or I got hurt and if I cannot push the button, to push it and somebody will come pick me up, check me up or take me to the hospital. And she had all the doctors that I have and chose here in Wichita. The people call once in a while to see that it’s working then it’ll say on the cell phone that they’re checking. So, then I don’t bother them. I know that they are checking even if I haven’t pushed the button. I know that I can push the button and somebody will be there for me. I live by myself and my son told me that it's best that I have a Medical Alert. I had another device which is a little different and when I hit it or push the button then it went off like a big siren and could be heard through the house. But that could only be used in so many feet in the house. With Medical Alert, I have to carry it with me so I can hear it. It's little where I had it in my purse but my telephone rings louder than it does. I can also go over to my sister’s place or any place and it follows me. My son said that it’s better because it would get me more places and the alert is doing its job. He said that it would shake and automatically be banging if I get into an accident. I won’t have to get the phone out. That way, I don't have to tell them what's wrong until they know where I was at if something happened.
I feel secure with Medical Alert but it's something I have to wear around my neck. One time, they called my son to come over. I was in the bathroom and the alert must have gone off in the kitchen. I didn't even hear it until the team came in hammering down the door. After that, my son told me to carry it with me even if I'm going in the bathroom so that I would see the flashers. But I talk into the charger and not the thing around my neck. I don't push it unless I'm testing it. If it goes off, the reps would ask if I’m hurt or if anything is wrong with me then I’d tell them that it went off and I’m alright. They check every time it does that and the reps were nice and did really good, and I hate bothering them.
Yet the Medical Alert is very touchy and goes off quite a bit. My son called the office and told them about it. Also, I can't hear it when the thing goes off. So my son looked at it to see and it's already as high as it's supposed to go that maybe something went wrong with it. But Medical Alert said that’s the way it does so maybe they could make it louder. When I went out with people and played cards, I might have bumped it on a table but I didn't hear it. There's no big siren on to alert me when it comes on. But I know I can hear it out when my purse is out in the dining room area and I could see that the light was flashing on it. Someone said that I have to have it close to me so I can hear them. I hid it in my purse and my sister heard it on. Nonetheless, my son and I are well satisfied with Medical Alert and I'd recommend it because it's very helpful. He liked that Medical Alert will get on it right away if away if anything happens.

I have to dodge from one part of the house to another and I'm not in a suitable state for that. I have to stay agile. This thing is shouting at me, "Emergency, emergency". The other day when I got in touch with my son, I wasn't even in my house when the thing went off. I didn't know what happened. I just changed it and then it came back. My son Collin was worried, so I looked at the machine and there's nothing that said that it had gone off. He wanted to make a ring in the night and I didn't think it was necessary. They had brought an ambulance. I had to do something that I didn’t approve of but I did. Then the other day, my other son was here and the thing went off. I was out in the garden and he was ready to dash in the garden. It's very sensitive but it's not bad that it's going off.

I wasn’t home and the cat walked over the Medical Alert device and activated it. That was about the only time I’ve ever had to do anything, but I had called over there just to do testing and it was fine. I am alone and if I do fall or hurt myself, I would need something so I looked into getting a Medical Alert. With that, you know that you’ve got your device so if anything happens, you have a neighbor to call, so to speak. I wear the device as a necklace and I’m really happy that they now have the fall button which, in case of a fall, activates by itself. That’s a great one as I’m a klutz and I trip quite often.

My mother-in-law has dementia. Since her using Medical alert, my wife says it makes her feel more comfortable because sometimes we have to leave my mother-in-law alone for a little while, so we want to have that contact in case something happens, like if my mother-in-law is in the basement and she falls. She wears the necklace but other than that, she's not really mobile so she doesn't go out a lot. She has had the device for almost a year now and it has helped her as she feels a little safer with it. The set up was very simple and easy to do. They sent the package by mail and I set it up myself. If you’ve got to update it, it's no problem and we check it once a month to make sure it's working correctly. We've already referred Medical Alert to a friend of hers.

I fall a lot and I had been lucky that when I did, my daughter was usually here. However, I’m alone sometimes so I’m glad that I got Medical Alert and I make sure that it’s on when nobody’s home. Their team was wonderful, nice, didn’t make me feel like I’m a dummy when I accidentally call them and they dealt with it lot. They also said that I can go to the park and if I went away from the home, I took the other button. Everything went well with Medical Alert.
