I have a son and a daughter who were very insistent that I wear a medical alert device. They picked one from LifeFone and I wear the device around my neck. One time I was over at my sweetheart’s house and I got a bad pain in my lower abdomen and on my left flank. I pressed the button and I found out that the phone only works if I’m home. It has a very small range. So, I forgot that and waited for the sweetheart to come home from church, then she called up 911 for me. So, when one of the kids who put me into this thing comes to visit me, I will ask them to look into a different thing I could wear that has more range. Other than that, I’ve called twice and checked the battery and there's always somebody there.

I work and my mother needed protection. LifeFone was the quickest one that responded to our need. We requested their services and so far, it’s been okay. We've had it for a year and when we’ve tested when we called, there has been no problem at all. I feel good knowing that my mother has the device and if she presses the alert, somebody’s gonna answer. And if there’s an emergency, at least there’ll be some way somebody is gonna get here and help her. Also, I’m gonna get called, so I can move with her. So far, the service we’ve gotten has been good and it’s been quick. Even when we test the system, there’s a quick response. I would recommend LifeFone to my friends.

My son wanted me to get a LifeFone device being that I’m alone, and he said it would be a security for me. I wear my device around my neck and I have it on all the time. I've had it for seven months, and I feel secure knowing that I have it. I had fallen one time, and my son said, “You should have called LifeFone.” I was in a room, so we tested it from another room to see if they could still hear, and they said they could.

I'm getting old and I got one leg and can't get around. I got my LifeFone from a recommendation of somebody that had it before me. Their reps answered all of my questions and explained everything to my liking. Everything is fine and I’m 100% satisfied so far. They’ve been very nice to me.

I had a stroke and my children didn't want me to stay alone. My son thought that they would feel better if I had the medical alert button. He got me the LifeFone pendant and my children feel more comfortable knowing that at least I have something. The people at LifeFone have been very good when the alarm goes off because we inadvertently press the button. I dropped my pendant on the table yesterday, and the alarm went off. Someone called me right away to ask if I needed help, and I apologized for that. So he said he would take that as my monthly checkup. I’m glad I have it. I'm very satisfied.

I would get uncontrollable seizures, so my kids had to call 911. I got LifeFone so at least help would be on the way. My only concern is that sometimes I lose electricity or the system goes down and they don’t call right away to say my system is disconnected and they're not receiving any information. They would call me the next day when the system is already back up and running. So it would be nice to know if the system goes down. It has a battery backup of at least seven days so that it shouldn’t interrupt communication with their services, for them to give me that type of phone call. I know my kids have jumped on me, pulled the LifeFone thing around my neck, done all kinds of stuff, and it hasn’t gone off. It would probably go off if I’m falling down back and forth, having a seizure, but I don't know how to set this. But as far as their reps they have been professional.

My four kids decided that because I'm 91, I should have LifeFone. It's comfortable to wear and it has been going well but we had a little trouble. It went off at times when I didn’t want it to go off. One time, I was putting on my soft pajamas, and it went off. I didn’t understand it so I told my daughter-in-law, Jane. She called LifeFone and they said sometimes the device is very sensitive and maybe I bumped something, and I did not bump anything. But lately it hasn’t been going off at odd times. LifeFone gives me a sense of security. However, I have a friend who said there are better medical alerts than I have and there are some out there that keeps you safe even on a trip. I don't have GPS on my device and it may not be enough, so I wonder if I should get hooked up with a different company
Thank you Ms. Norell for taking the time to speak with me this morning. What a pleasure it was. You expressed concerns about a service that would allow you to remain covered while outside and we discussed some options; while going through you realized that an On the Go system was not for you as your lifestyle has changed since you signed up. LifeFone is very pleased to have you as a valued customer and will always thrive to bring you the service that you expect and deserve. I fell in the tub. I was leaning on the soap dish and the soap dish came out of the wall with quarter of the wall, so I fell. I didn't hurt myself but I ended up on the floor and I couldn't move. Nobody was in the house and the ones that were up here didn't hear me. I was calling for help for about over an hour. Finally, my landlady came home and I yelled for her and she came right down. The tenants came down and they wanted to pick me up. I said I didn't want anyone to pick me up but the police because the tenants all had back troubles. The police came and they got me out of the tub in no time at all. I didn't hurt anything, but it was a terrible experience. The cop said I gotta get a LifeFone because I wouldn't have waited five minutes if I had that.
Also, I got sickly after that and I ended up in the hospital. My son came and found out about it and he right away got me the LifeFone. It has been wonderful with their customer service reps and they call right away. One time, the device went off and I them I was sorry and that I didn't know what triggered it to go off. They told me to not worry about it and that as long as I was all right. They also asked if I was all right. They were very nice. Also, I fell one time and I had the phone hanging on the door. A friend of mine came in next door and I told her to get me the phone and she did. I pressed it and they came right away and they helped me up in two seconds. I never have it hanging on the door again. I wear it on my neck all the time now.
It has been working very nicely although it only works in the house. But it's no problem. I'm usually with someone when I go out and if I'm not, I'm in town or I'm with people. There are always people I know I would get help. If anyone asks about LifeFone, I would encourage them to get it. I have encouraged my friend who just called me now and she's thinking about it. She lives in the house with her daughter, but they go away sometimes and she should have it because she has a heart condition.

I'm having a good experience with LifeFone but their response is not as rapid as I expected. They said it takes about almost a minute for a response but that’s long if you’re unconscious. It should be at least 30 seconds. But LifeFone is an improvement compared to what I had before as far as the equipment is concerned. The other service I had before changed hands and they won’t improve the price of the service, so I wasn’t too happy with them after they had the changed. The service of LifeFone is also better. When there was a storm I didn’t have the power afterwards, so I think the storm must have done something to the LifeFone box, but they were quick to send me another box. I am living by myself and since having LifeFone my family feels better

My husband died in January and I live alone. I have my IT band in my right leg and I get shots in my back every couple months. It's completely worn off and I have to use a cane and step real slow, and sometimes my legs give it out. I got a LifeFone after I fell the last time. Recently I was in the kitchen and I tried to hold onto the counter, and my legs gave out. The team that came was wonderful. They got me off the floor and in bed. They also made sure my dogs were okay.

I had a serious illness and my adult children insisted that I get a LifeFone device. I am in an adult living center and we have our emergency pole chain so I don’t need it but they feel better about it. I just have it taken out of my checking account every month and I don’t worry about it. It goes around my neck first thing in the morning and then, when I go to bed at night, it goes around my wrist. Occasionally, I forget and take it off and throw it over on the dresser and it goes, “Emergency! Emergency!” and I jump out of my skin and I push the button and say, “No, false alarm.” If I don’t get to it quickly enough, someone comes on.
Every six months or so, somebody will call and check. They would ask me to push the button, so I do. LifeFone is very good but if I’m out of my apartment and I need them, that’s just too bad because this is only for my apartment. However, if I am down there on the floor and need them, they will take care of me when I push the button.

I was originally given something around my neck to wear, but it would be safer if they would also give me the wristband. I have a 91-year-old mother who was widowed and she still lives on her own and I live 200 miles away. And for my peace of mind, I got her a medical alert system from LifeFone. We love LifeFone. It gives me a great sense of security. We know that it works because we found out from trial and error. My mom is also hard of hearing and one day, she had her hearing aids out and she was brushing her teeth and her necklace was bumping against the sink and she didn’t realize it. She also didn’t hear the voice talking to her because she did not have her hearing aids in. And when she walked into the living room, the EMS and the police were there. It was a good experience because we knew it worked. My mom lives in a small town of 700 people, so the police department and the EMS were really excited to see how that system worked also because they had never witnessed it. So, it was a good test run for everybody.
One time when I was visiting her, she got the new replacement because the batteries were running down. So, I had to call the team at LifeFone and activate it. I talked with an associate then and I said, “My mother would have to do this sometimes on her own. Is this gonna be a problem?” And the associate said that they would take the time and really work with her. And as a matter of fact, that happened and my mom is not a tech savvy person at all, and they were very patient with her and they taught her to drop it and activate it and made sure everything worked before they hung up with her.
My mom feels safer because of the GPS on it, too. An older lady comes and takes her shopping and she takes the little GPS phone type thing with her on her purse so if they ever have problems, they can always be located. Also, we were concerned of making sure that the signals worked because she lives in a small farming community. But, we never have a problem with the signals. Everything has been great, and I recommend LifeFone to everybody.

I know I can get help if I need it, and that’s been a great comfort for me. Also, my children are happy that I have it. The only thing is I usually wear the bracelet on my arm, which has been great but I don’t wanna get my skin irritated, so I thought, “Well, I need to take it off at night and use the necklace at night.” I am a very restful sleeper and every time I wear the necklace, I manage to turn on the LifeFone and that was not good. My mom's doing okay but the fear was that she might fall and nobody would be there until they went to check out at lunchtime. She lives with my sister and her husband and I have siblings who live right near her as well. But my sister and her husband were going away to their second home for months at a time. And even when my sister ran to the store, she worried what would happen if our mom fell and she didn't come home for two hours. Our mom was gonna have more time at home by herself for mornings or evenings so we wanted something there. My brother had LifeFone for his wife when she was ill years ago and he said that it should go well. And it's been working great. I had tried a different brand but it didn't really work. It wasn't as user-friendly or as customer service-oriented. It just wasn't as smooth of a transition as LifeFone was.
My mom tends to keep the device in her blouse but there had been times that she bumped it on something. In those times, it goes off immediately and it's very loud, which is great because she does wear hearing aids but she can hear them. They respond immediately and they ask if she's okay, what happened and if she needs anything. They check in and they are very kind. It's been a great service and it's worth it. It certainly gives my siblings, my mom and me a sense of comfort and reassurance that should anything happen, somebody's there. Having LifeFore really is a comfort.

But I get frustrated that I have to wait for it to go through the medical alert system before it finally shuts off the alarm. I also have the little remote that I can take with me but it’s bulky and cumbersome and I never use it. And so I'd probably discontinue that and I'm looking into other resources having a longer range from the base than mine does. There’s another one out there that’s recommended and has a much longer range like a football field, and so I could go outside and still have it be effective. Also, I am considering looking into a different one with different price options that are recommended by Consumer Reports. Other than that, I'd still recommend LifeFone.

I have four children and they ganged up and insisted that I get a LifeFone. I tried the one that goes around my neck but that was a nuisance. They say in the paperwork not to put the device inside your t-shirt. So, I ended up throwing it behind my back and if I really have a problem, I could remember where it was. But it got into the soup and into the sewing, and every time I bent over, it was in the way. So, I opted for the one on my wrist and that's working better. It's a nice safety device, but I don't give it much thought. I'm pretty independent and very careful. Plus, I take my time doing things.

We switched between two different locations and phone numbers and so, every couple of weeks I have to call LifeFone and that took a little while to work out, but it did. We haven't tested it at really far distances from the unit, but we're happy with it because we did extend it for a second year. They told us to call in whenever we want to verify if it's working to see if it had switched over to the new location and phone number, and that works pretty good. I can call 24 hours a day. But sometimes I tend to get people that don’t seem to have any idea what they're doing. So for the last 10 times, I just called in normal business hours and I got a more experienced human being.
I've told Tom that if he's outside and has a problem, he can hit his buzzer and I can clear it here and go outside. Like right now he's out on a piece of equipment and if he was to fall and I wouldn’t know it, he can hit his buzzer, I can get out there and I still won't be involving the LifeFone people, but I'm using it as an alert here. When we got it, he was alone part of the time but now, he's not alone. Also, Tom has Parkinson's, so he has a really soft voice. When we have tested it, we know where the base unit is and I've had him be like 30 or 40 feet away, and the salesman said that the person that’s on the either end can boost up the receiver and should be able to hear him even if he's not talking very loud. And I don’t think it's quite as good as they advertised.

I used to have a different medical alert device but we had bad luck with them. They were very rude in customer service and my sister, who did a lot of my affairs, kept waiting and waiting to contact them but nobody would answer. When I used them the fist time because I had fallen, it took a long time before they finally answered. Then when I had fallen again on the same day, I never got a hold of them. My sister said it was ridiculous, so we changed to LifeFone. So far, they've been pretty good from what contact I've had with them. I also feel secure having the device because I have something that I can rely on. It's something you don't wanna admit that you have to have, so it's better not to think about it.
I got the arm watch. Its top is black and the alarm part is white. One day, when I was looking around in my bed, I found the the black part of my watch and it came apart. I got it attached and I hope it lasts. Then my sister said not to worry about it, that we could send it back in, and they'd send another one. But as much as we have to pay a month, they should get better arm products. Other than that, LifeFone's reps are very good when they need scheduling for routine check-up. It's also very good when something comes on and the device would power off and power on. They're very good on that part, so that makes me feel better because it shows the alarm is working right.

However, I could have used a bit more help in making sure that the account was set up. I like LifeFone better than our previous service. Number one, it’s the digital kind and number two, it was less expensive than Life Alert. More than anything, the cost was what led us to switch. And another reason that LifeFone worked better was the portability. We could easily switch it from one location to another. My mom was living with my brother but she wasn’t getting very good care. Then she came to our home.
I also had a problem with AT&T. I don’t have very good cellphone coverage here so I was having some concerns about whether or not the button was gonna work all the time. So the tech service people helped me get it connected with this booster device so that I get better coverage. But at first, when I would call, it would take quite a while for the LifeFone people to answer so I was kinda concerned about that. But lately it seems to be better. We do the monthly check to make sure it’s working right. My mom's gonna be 98 next week though, and I’m not really sure if she would remember to use the button if she had a problem. Still, it’s a little added bit of insurance.

I love my LifeFone. I live by myself and I’m 84 years old. I have fallen a couple of times, so it was a necessary thing. The LifeFone people have been most kind, even when I’ve hit the button accidentally. I had it go off one time in my house and I was out in my garage. I had my neighbor come running down asking if I was alright. I had accidentally hit the button but I didn’t hear it go off in the house, and they were immediately here. The only thing I am not happy with LifeFone is when they take the payment and they do not notify me. I only get a small pension and sometimes I don’t have $300 in my checking account.

My nieces decided that I needed a LifeFone because I would be 94 years old in a week and I live alone. They were concerned that I might fall and purchased it for me. I wear it religiously since I promised them that I would. I thought it was very sweet of them to buy it for me. We have it tested once in a while. I'm very satisfied with it. One time, I accidentally hit it and it scared me to death. I yelled so I apologized and the lady said that it was all right. She was very nice about the incident.

My grandmother suffered a stroke some years ago and at the time she was staying by herself. As she progresses in age, we wanted to have someone with her. She also has a LifeFone, which she enjoys. She tests it once a month and some of the representatives will go on and ask her if there was a problem or something that she may be experiencing. Their demeanor is that of concern, but I have noticed that they've been slow to respond a couple of times. Sometimes they will be right on and then other times it's been a few couple of minutes or so. Other than that, LifeFone seems to be a helpful system. It's beneficial especially to seniors or those who are experiencing health challenges. We want to know that someone is there in the events that we aren't there to help our loved ones.

I had fallen and I was down for eight hours three years ago. And luckily, my neighbor was home and he heard me yelling through the wall. He got the fire department and police department over. He called the landlord and let them know too. I ordered the system from LifeFone because eight hours was a long time to lie there because I couldn't get myself up. It has worked out fine when I've had to use it, except for the last time, they didn't tell the fire department where my outside key was. And so, my door got a little destroyed.
I pressed the button, then the person came on and asked, "What's going on?" I told them that I had fallen. When they communicated to the fire department, I thought they were supposed to communicate that my outside key for them to get in was in a certain location because that was put on my paperwork where it was. They didn't communicate it to the fire department and the fire department proceeded to break down my door. I kept calling and yelling at them, "Don't hit the door. Go to the air conditioner." It's magnetized to the bottom of my air conditioner. But they couldn't hear me and kept hitting the door. And so, I kept pushing the button for LifeFone to call me again and I couldn't get them to call me again so I could tell them to tell the fire department where the key was. That's the only problem I've ever had.
LifeFone's response time is fine because the fire department building is within a half a mile of where I live. Interactions I've had with the people at LifeFone were fine, too. I have no problems with them. After the experiences I've had, if people ask me about them, I'd tell them to sign up because you never know when you're going to get stuck someplace.

LifeFone is like a lifesaver. If I fall in the house or I happen to be outdoors and I fall, I'll push it and I will get a response. I bumped it against the sink once and it went off. So I went back and told them I had just bumped it against the sink. I would recommend it to one of my friends who probably needs it. And I'd tell her that it's a safeguard. In case she'd fall, she can push it and get somebody who comes on the line.

One time, the sheriff came and said he had a notice that I was down. But I just had bumped the necklace and didn't realize that it was on. I've only had LifeFone come once. It was late at night and they came, picked me up, and put me to bed. And I feel safer with my LifeFone if I'm outside the garden. But I don’t know what to do with it in the bathroom. I don’t know whether to hang it on the chair or whether to hang it some place so I can get to it because I don’t want to necessarily keep it on while I’m bathing. It's definitely a comfort and I never take it off. However, one time I switched from my device to something that's outside the house. I fell outside over something and the device was supposed to work, but it didn't. I wasn't happy with it, so I went back to the original one which is in the home. I would recommend LifeFone overall. When I do my testing, a couple of girls seem like they’re a little bit irritated. I tell them that I’m just doing my monthly test like I’ve been instructed to do. They ask me if everything is okay and I tell them yes. But they question my calling. I’ve been in customer service my whole life. I supervise the employment insurance division for the State of Nevada and we monitored calls. I don’t know if LifeFone does it because they can playback these responses this team has when they get a call.
Also I had two necklaces because I upgraded to the fall detector and it didn’t work. So a LifeFone manager credited me a couple of months for that and I still have it. I tested both of them, my old one which works fine and my fall detector which does not work. I still have the device but I asked if I could send this back, that they can send me an envelope like they typically do, but the rep said they can’t do that. I told her that I got a device that’s not activated and that they probably could use it or recycle it. I told her to have her manager call me and she said she would, but I never got a callback from the manager. Still, I’ve had my LifeFone device for years and they have a rapid response, less than a minute. So I’ve still had a good experience with LifeFone.

I’m 80 now, have almost no equilibrium and can’t stand on my toe. I’ve broken almost everything with different falls over the years and even fell right in the middle of the street one time. Also, I use a walker but sometimes I leave it in the car and I don’t use it in my home, and it’s concerning for me if I needed immediate assistance, so I got a LifeFone. I did some research and both my son and I felt Lifefone is a good medical alert service. I also felt that I needed it.
I wear the necklace all the time or have it close to my bed, and I also take it in the shower with me. However, I don’t wear it at night because it bothers me, so I put it on my nightstand where I know exactly where it is. Also, the one thing that I don’t like about it is that it has a clip on it that doesn’t work with the clothing that I wear. So, I have to have a pocket or have the device in my purse, but I don’t like to take my big purse to shopping. I tend to forget to carry it when I leave and go somewhere, and the necklace is no good if I don’t have that device with me. But it works fine if I have a pocket in my slacks or my jeans. I feel secure with it and it’s important that I have it. It's great and I like it very much.

With the LifeFone medical alert device, I felt like I have somebody in the house with me and it’s very convenient. I sometimes get tired of it hanging around my neck. I’ve told about LifeFone to several individuals. I’ve had three spells of where I passed out and my son and my wife decided that I needed to take in some equipment if I’ll have another one and have to be totally by myself. I've had too many strokes and the family decided we needed to take precautionary measures. LifeFone would call to test if the device works and it has been satisfactory. I've got the GPS one hooked to my belt which doesn't bother me as I've gotten used to it. At night, I put the alert button on a necklace.
LifeFone's response has been appropriate and so far, we have had to go through two emergencies and they were taken care of over the phone. One of them was when I was out because of the livestock. I was in the shed and picking up a feed sack and passed out. It took me a little while to regain my equilibrium. The other was when I had been bent over and fell down and they called about the emergency on the phone.

We've come to the point where the family realized that we needed help for safety reasons. We were concerned because my husband had fallen. He can't withstand his medication so he has to rely on me to help him stay balanced without falling. And I myself have fallen in the past on an icy driveway or walkway. The only sad thing that happened was I misplaced my LifeFone over a month ago and I cannot find it. I called LifeFone and they said it would cost almost $90 to replace it. I told them our resources aren't that great and I didn't feel I wanted to put that out. My husband had one for the wrist in the package and his neck phone was a little smaller than mine. It's white and mine was black. He didn't want to wear his though so what I did was to use his. I activated it with the master LifeFone here. I used it and it worked.
We have accidentally hit it and they respond so fast. They're very good. They also like to be made known at least once a month that I'm here and that everything is going well. I hope not to use it for emergency but it's comforting to know that help is right here. When I leave the house and go away from it, I can't take my cellphone or my pendant with me. I leave it near the LifeFone base so it's handy when I get back home, and put it back on. I would recommend LifeFone to anyone in our shape and condition.

Getting a medical alert device was my son's idea. Also, the people in the hospital I ended up in said that I needed one at home. I live alone and they didn't want me to be alone. My son went ahead in getting LifeFone while I was still in the hospital and after I was out of the hospital, I was in a care center for two months. The device is not being used and I keep it on a tray beside my chair because I'm only five feet tall and it gets caught in my clothes. I also have a cat that sits on my lap about 80% of the day.
It's bothersome sometimes because every other month, they're telling me that it has failed, and we have to go through a whole rigorous stuff. I didn't understand why they had to keep doing it over and over every other month. The last time, which was back in October, because it's not near where I have to sit, I have to get out of the chair and go over to the base and stand, which I don't do very well, and we went through it. I lock up and then I can't move. I'm sitting in an automatic chair that goes up and down with a push button. I hit my full and I finally told her that I can't stand any longer.
I don't understand why that it's just sitting on my record player and why it should fail. It's just an excuse to get me to go through everything which means I've got to get my book, look up the number and do all the different things. If something isn't even a year old, it shouldn't have failed each and every time that they blinked me on. The last few times that it happened, they called because something went wrong with the button. It was because I dropped it, just picking it up. It's almost annoying. I just got it back on, and then it's off again. I guess I just have to live with it.

I’m 86 and I live by myself. I get around good but my daughter thinks I ought to have LifeFone so she got it for me. She paid it for a year in advance and added the extra deal that when I fall, it would go off. It was $350 for a year but LifeFone gave one year for free. However, it's a little bothersome to keep it and it went off a couple of times when I was in bed. When I turned over, it turned on and pushed it and they responded immediately. They woke me up a couple of times during the night, said it was alert and asked what was wrong.
It happened twice and their rep mentioned that I might need to change it to one that wasn’t as sensitive, but I decided to quit wearing it in bed and put it on the nightstand. One time, I was at the bar and it was sitting over beside the bed when it started ticking fast like a clock for a few minutes and I wondered why. Now, it has quit that and it's not making any sound. I also fell last week and hit the floor but it didn’t go off. I try to wear it about all the time and it stays plugged in all the time too. But their reps have been friendly. I’m satisfied with it.

We've had LifeFone for about three years now and it's been good. My wife had a stroke and my health deteriorated. I walk a couple of miles a day but I had a couple of falls. I fell twice in the house so I saw we had a local LifeFone agent and decided that I needed one. Having LifeFone gives my wife and I confidence that we could get medical attention quickly. Their service has been adequate and satisfactory. Everything they told and that I have experienced and asked for help has been forthcoming.

LifeFone was recommended to me by a couple of medical personnel. When I had a bad asthma attack where I fell on the floor and was breathing very badly, my aid who comes with me every day couldn't pick me up so she pressed the button on my LifeFone and people came and got me. I was satisfied with their response, the way they handled me and put me in the ambulance. The ambulance attendants put me in a wheelchair because I couldn’t breathe properly and I didn’t want to go on a stretcher. They took me to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital. They stood with me for a while and when I was finally attended to, it was quick.
The experience was good and I have no problems with the people at LifeFone. I was very happy with the service I was provided. People came within 10 minutes that my aid called for them and I was very happy with the speed and they got me to the hospital in a hurry. I was there a couple of times and was serviced within 5 or 10 minutes and in some cases 15 minutes but each time, the service was good.

LifeFone has been very good to us. My husband and I have used it a few times for different reasons, and it's taken us to the hospital. My husband was once out in front of the house, cutting down one of the branches on the tree, and he fell on top of the branch. He called LifeFone and they came. I didn't realize he was out there and the phone came on. However, the device is only within the area of the house and a few feet outside. If I'm walking or driving up the street and have an accident, it won't work.

It's good to know that LifeFone is there when you need it. I fell one night and I felt like I broke my foot and was bleeding. So, the first thing I did was push the thing around my neck and they called an ambulance. Then the neighbor that's hooked up with it came and we went to the hospital. Then when we had a power outage for a long period of time out here where I live, they called to find out what was the matter. Their response time was good and they were fine when I spoke with them.

My husband had a stroke about a year and a half ago so I thought it would be good to have the LifeFone. The problem is, he does have dementia and I worry if he will remember to press the button. But then, my daughter thought we both might as well get it since we’re older, so we both have one. My husband uses a cane, sometimes a walker, and one time when he fell, I used LifeFone to get the EMTs to come because I can’t pick him up. However, I was having some trouble with the one that I carry around with me. Some days it’s fine, but the other day, I was gone about six hours and when I came back, it had the green light blinking. But it also has a red light on which to me meant, it had to be charged. And I thought it’s supposed to stay charged for 24 hours. I had called them once before but they said nothing was wrong. But overall, the experience was okay.

I take full-time care of my dad and I got the LifeFone so I could be gone from home for a short period of time and have peace of mind. It was a little touchy in the beginning in trying to figure out which system would work right for him, in getting different people at different times and not having them to tell me the same thing each time. But we figured it out and he's been using it for four years now.
We had ADT when he was at his old house before I started caring for him and I did not like that system at all. I like LifeFone's wireless system. Nobody can mess with it outside the home and it can go anywhere. The wireless GPS system enables us to take the device when we go to my daughter's. But when I went a couple of times to my daughter’s and took him with me, I called ahead and let LifeFone know the address he's going to be at so that they would have his location if the device goes off. But once we came home, I called and let them know that he was home. Then I called for a technical issue and they asked if he was still in Chesapeake, Virginia. So I had to re-explain that we took a trip and that I already called them about it. Other than that, we're happy with everything and I would recommend them.

There's not much I can do with my age. I don't drive anymore and my eyesight and hearing are bad. I have a caregiver who comes three mornings a week, three hours each, and that has been a big help to me. I've been alone for almost 15 years since my husband died, but it was my son's idea to get the alert. I wear it around my neck sometimes and I don't sleep with it on. During the first week that I had LifeFone, my son told me I should wear it all the time, so I went to bed and rolled over on it. I'm about half asleep and they called me to ask if I was all right and I was. The reps have been helpful.
I had five calls in the last week and a half. Some of them were about my computer, which I don't have, and the others were about my back, shoulder and knee ache. I don't have a backache or a shoulder ache, and the upper part of my right arm only hurt for two, three days. My right knee is bigger than my left knee had been for sixty something years, so it hurts once in a while but not much. Braces were going to be sent to me and I've got two braces for my back. I used to do a lot of fishing in Wisconsin and I wear a brace. LifeFone has been a help and it's a comfort to know that there's a button I can push. I'm satisfied with it.

We're grateful for the peace of mind that LifeFone offered us knowing we can get help very rapidly. Our son-in-law was the primary mover in arranging for it. His mother was incapacitated and almost burned her house down. Fortunately, they had LifeFone and it picked up the problem with the fire and got the fire department there before she even knows the place was on fire. I figured that somebody must be on the ball and monitoring that stuff so I said that it was a good idea and we signed up for it. My son-in-law tested it from the upstairs bedroom to the main floor where the equipment is located and the operator could hear him just fine. It was a concern because when we initially got it, I was sleeping upstairs and my husband was on the main floor, but now the situation has changed when I was unexpectedly hospitalized.
When I came home, our kids got me to sleep on the first floor which was very necessary. My husband is legally blind, slightly hard of hearing, has COPD and is on oxygen at night plus he sleeps like a log so if anything happens, he's not with us. We're happy with LifeFone being where it is. Both my husband and I have wristbands, and I had an occasion where I should have used it, but because it occurred in the middle of the night, I was reluctant to because I was afraid it would upset my husband if guys came in the backdoor and waking him out of a sound sleep. We were able to get a hold of a family member at that time, but it was an error in judgment on my part and I should have pushed the button immediately, gotten help and gotten to the hospital. I had some back spasm that the hospital still hasn’t been able to diagnose and I was unable to move.
I was half on the bed and half off and remained that way for several hours because I couldn’t reach my phone and I hollered for my husband, but he's a sounder sleeper than he thought he was. But it got resolved and things are better now. At least I know if we're here on the property or in the house, I can push the button, and if they don’t get a voice answer, they're going to send somebody down to check on us. We have a wonderful response time that can’t be beaten. We live in a relatively small village where the police and fire stations are only four blocks away. There had been times in the past when we have called and before the caller would hang up, they would be here. We're not out and about very often and I've been relying on my cellphone to be the instrument of choice, but it’s going to change as I’m thinking very seriously of converting the LifeFone over to the one that has the away from home feature.

My nephew gave me LifeFone as a gift. I was assured that I didn’t need it but I did. Since the box arrived I have communicated with them because I had a couple of questions installing, checking and connecting it to a telephone and they were very good. Their reps were friendly and nice. One time I fell in the bathroom and I had a message on my machine but I could not hear the rep because I was not that close to the terminal. He said, “If you can hear me and you don’t need help give us a call and let us know. And if we don’t hear from you we will call 911.” And I could not call them so they called 911 and they came right away. The LifeFone worked beautifully and I was very grateful that I had it.
My problem with LifeFone was the lockbox. When I pushed the button help came but they couldn’t get in because the lockbox did not work. Fortunately the windows were open in my bedroom and the light was on and so they came around to the back of the house and came in that way. But that’s not easy as some of the men are big and my window isn’t that big. They hustled me off to the hospital where I stayed for six days. Then I was shipped over to the rehab and I got out yesterday.
I called this morning to do my monthly test and that went fine. Then I called the 800 number and spoke with someone very nice, and I explained to her that they could not get in and then I tried it this morning. The rep said, “Are you pulling down on the thing? Because that isn’t how it opens. It opens like a drawbridge.” She also asked me if I would like to try the lockbox while she was on the phone. But I was too far away to the lockbox and I’m limited with what I can do that time. I did try eventually and I still couldn’t get the lockbox open. But my hands are not very strong so I will have my caretaker do it when she comes. Still I was very pleased with the way LifeFone worked.
