I don’t have to have a sitter and I am more independent with having the ADT Medical Alert device. I pushed it accidentally one time at five o'clock in the morning in bed, when I turned over but I turned it off. So, I have not had to use it. I just accidentally did it several times.

I have ADT security for my home for a couple of years and they do a good job. When my wife had dementia in the early part of February this year, we needed some safeguards around the house. We talked about a medical alert and I knew ADT had it. My daughter and I thought it would be a good idea to put the communication box with two fall pendants because my wife has already fallen two times before we ever thought about this. That was one plus to get it. I called ADT and the advisor that I talked to was very nice. By the end of the conversation, we took the service for the home alert service.
The only thing I don't like about the pendants is they're too nerdy. You really got to be careful where you put them down and how hard you put them down. If you fall, there's a gimmick in here that trips ADT for them to call us on the communications band and find out if we need help which is a good thing. That way, we don't have to call the fire department or the police department if something happens. I've only had it since February 23th and it seems to be working fine. They're very conscientious. If problems come up, like a low battery or I take off my pendant and put it on the dresser too hard and it goes off, they're Johnny-on-the-spot to get back to you and to find out whether you need help or it was just a miss.

My sense of security is better since I’ve had the ADT Medical Alert device. I’m less stressed if something were to happen because of the fall detection that it has if I did fall or I have something around to where if I am able to alert them myself, then there's a button there that I can push and alert them myself to give me assistance. The device has gone off by accident but it tells me to push the button to cancel the alert.

The ADT medical alert unit didn't work out. I had had one before from another company. It was a little thing I wore around my neck in the house and out the house. I spoke right into the little thing that was around my neck. This one with ADT, they had three different things I had to have, one for around my neck when I'm supposedly in the house, one for on the go and one for the bathroom. I felt like when I went out the house, it was the same as if I was in the house because wherever I had this thing based at, if it was in my bedroom and I go into my garage and fall down, it can detect that I fell down in the garage but they can't hear what I'm saying from the garage.
After I got the device activated, I happened to look over at my end table and I noticed that it wasn't doing anything. I had it in the cradle to charge it and it wasn't blinking. Just as I noticed that it wasn't blinking, ADT called me to tell me that it was showing them low battery. I told them it was sitting in the cradle but there were no lights blinking. The rep tried to work on it from there and she told me she'd call me back because whatever she was doing wasn't working. When she called me back, she said they couldn't get it to crank back up so they were gonna send me a label to return it. Three days later, they sent me another one.
It was supposed to be $40-something a month but when I got the bill, it was almost 100. I called to inquire why and they told me I had to pay for activation. They gave me a couple of other things plus the monthly bill. I said, "I haven't even had it a month and I'm just getting the new one that y'all sent me because the other one wasn't working right after a week."
At first, they weren't willing to do anything then I spoke to someone else and he had me on hold for a little while. I told him, "I'm sending it back. Send me another label. I'm not paying $100. I can't afford it and nobody even told me that I had to pay to activate something that I'm going to be using." I also said I never liked the fact that I had so many parts to go through it. I just wanted one little thing to go around my neck that did everything I needed and I didn't know it was gonna have that many things to go with it. Most of the time, I don't have pockets in my things. I would have had to have a pocket or a post that I can put the other thing in or they have a little case that you can put it into, like clip it on my clothes.
They sent me another box and a label and I returned it. But the guy, after we talked and he had me on hold for a long time, he came back and said that they were going to take the whole thing off the bill, which they did and I was fine with that. But I have the home security system and I was wondering why would they charge me that much money. I thought it was crazy to have to pay to activate it. How is someone gonna use it if they don't activate it? Nobody ever told me that I had to pay all that. I didn't get all the right information and I didn't want it.

I had Medical Alert for a couple of years and I was satisfied. But when they said that I needed to get two more monitors to be heard, I felt that was an added expense and I couldn't afford it. ADT is a little more expensive but even if I'm in the basement, they'll be able to get in the front door because the key is outside. One day, I bumped into it and I didn't even know because I have it hanging from my neck. They called and I said I hit it by mistake. They're very concerned and quick to respond. They're very accommodating too.
I feel fairly confident about ADT. I'm not too sure about them hearing me from the bedrooms upstairs or from the basement downstairs but I know if I press the button and they don't hear me and they call and I don't respond, they're gonna call out emergency help for me. That's all that matters. If I need help, I will get it and the expenses I save is more. One day, they hadn't heard from me and they called to check up was I okay. They go out of their way to do everything they can to make you feel satisfied and secure. They put that extra touch in and it's like getting a hug.

My experience with ADT Medical Alert has been fine so far. There have been no false alarms until a couple of hours ago when it went off. It kept saying "Press the button, just stop the alarm if this is not an emergency." I kept pressing the button around my neck and it didn't stop the alarm. It was going to call the medical teams and the only way to get the call to stop was my CNA who had to go to the base unit in another room and press the button. That was not a good experience. I was, at the time, getting a bath from a CNA in the bathroom and there was no way I could have gotten to that unit.

I requested the packet and ADT Medical Alert sent it to me. I didn’t hook it up right away and the reps called me to ask if everything was okay. I said that I’m waiting to get someplace you have to hide a key for the ambulance or whoever when they come. It took me a little longer than usual but they were very patient. They were very helpful when it came time to hook it up. It was step, step, step. And now monthly, you just push the green test button. It asks if it’s a test and I’d say that it’s a test. We test back and forth. I haven't had to use it for an emergency but I'm very pleased with it. I have the little clicker button hanging on my scooter, which I don't leave too far away from me. It makes my kids very happy and gets them off my back.

I was looking for something that I could have a quick response if I had needed help. I wanted to be able to have something that was with me and I could have it in the shower. Other than that, I liked the idea of having a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector that would call for me if I wasn't home and ADT had that. I've had nothing but good relations with them and happy with their work. The installer of the security system was very friendly, helpful and he explained things as we went along and I was very happy with him. When I found that a few days later that the window in one of the bedrooms could be opened even when the system was armed, he came back and put in a relay thing that would carry the signal onto the main panel and that thing works fine. They have good equipment, good service and it certainly works like it should.

I feel safer with ADT Medical Alert because I fall easily and my son feels better that I got one with me. I can push the button in the little one that I use in the house and talk back, and let ADT know I'm okay. But I was wondering what to do if I'm in the car and I accidentally bump the device. It happened to me one day. I was getting out of the car and somebody was talking. I couldn’t figure out what it was and then, I finally did but I couldn't let the rep know I was okay. I came in the house and she called me. So, I’d better carry my cell phone along to let them know.

We've been having some problems with testing out the device because the first one wasn't working. ADT had to send another one. The second one they sent, Robert ended up getting it caught around his neck in a necklace. We had to cut the thing to get it off. So they sent a new one. But when he had cut it, it dropped on the floor and we couldn't get the thing turned off and it took them about five minutes to answer the call. They kept saying, "Call in progress. Call in progress. We'll be with you. We'll be with you," but they weren't.
Our house is not too small but you can't go from one part of the house to another half, the device will go off but you can't answer because they can't hear what you're saying in the monitor. The device is fine in the house, but other than that, you have to carry a monitor with you every place you go. Robert is not really attuned to that. He doesn't want to do that. So that is one part that I don't like. You can't get a wrist monitor for that particular type.

I returned it back and now they've been bugging me about whether if I returned it back or not, and I used their envelope. Now they’re saying I should have recorded the return tracking number. It's just a mess. People shouldn't consider ADT Medical Alert unless they've made up their minds that they want it because returning it could be problematic. Also, it doesn't charge properly and as soon as it doesn't charge, it starts giving you alerts. Any backup emergency numbers you gave, it's calling them.

I've had ADT Medical Alert for a while. I am a fall risk and I was in a nursing home for four and a half months. When I got out, my husband, my mom, my sister and I decided that I would have some kind of alert in case one of them wasn't around me. I had an emergency, so that was when I got it. My husband and my momma have died, and I'm still with it.
I've had to use the button twice. I had to activate it. I like that ADT does contact my contact people to let them know that the battery is low or that they need to be charged. And should I leave home without the actual monitor in my pocket, then they contact my contact people to let them know that I'm out of range, and that way, somebody would have to look out for me or they would try to contact me. I don't understand why I have to keep the monitor charged, but I have to take that with me. It seems like if I charged it, then that would be enough. ADT would know that I have left home or left somewhere. I don't know why I would have to have the monitor with me. Should we be away from the electrical outlet for a long time and that goes down, then I don't have anything.

I usually put it under my shirt so it doesn't swing out and bump things. The quality could be a little better as far as the aesthetics of it. It is very rare that I use the device unless I'm going somewhere with my purse. For some reason, I haven't really trusted the smaller device but at least I know that there's a mic on the larger one. I just don't like it around my neck 'cause it's too bulky. I don't mind it when I'm out in my yard 'cause I will just put it on a belt and put the case around on a belt loop. ADT should make their Medical Alert device more comfortable where I can carry the device with me and I wouldn't have to go in my purse because if somebody snatches my purse, the device is gone too. I would definitely have it every day whenever I go and wear it if it has a little more discreet design.

It’s nice, especially if the person doesn't have a lot of people to talk to. So it’s more than just a medical alert system. People really care and they're checking on the well-being of the person.

The button fits fine in our lifestyle. I've had a fine experience with their team.

I had the necklace first and then, I got the other one that I can take out into the world with me. I can go anywhere and get checked anytime. The team has been nice to me and when I mistakenly push the button by accident, they don’t get irritated or upset. They’re kind and I appreciate that. They are all so helpful to me and I feel safe. If it rang too long, I would tell them and they might say they would check my battery.

I enjoy talking with them when they call me. The person that calls me is a very nice person. I look forward to him calling me every week. I've had a very pleasing experience with them.

My ADT Medical Alert is going fine. I keep it close with me all the time and it gives me a little more confidence. One time, I forgot to put it in the charger and they called. They let me know that the battery was down. I'm satisfied.

Their team was okay. However, I've got two of those systems here and they just did not work. We could not get any reception on them. I called them and they told me to just send it back if it wasn't working. But it's not their fault that nothing was working.

The ADT Medical Alert device is still working so it’s okay. I’ve tested it and there’s no complaint. The response took a little while but it wasn’t that long.

With the system that I have, it switches over to battery when the power goes out. It's worth the $10 more a month. Although the necklace that I wear is very sensitive. It goes off nearly every day. You have to quickly hit the button, hold it down, and it beep-beeps, and it's canceled. That's the only thing I've had to get used to. It's got to be sensitive so that when you fall, then it tells them that you fell. I have a call every week from ADT to see how everything's going. So that's good.

I am getting old and the device offered the fall alarm thing. I had it tested the other day and it's working fine. The response was quick. The first time I did the testing, the light came on the machine to test it. So I pressed that and then someone came on and talked to me and said to hang up off my phone and use the button. So I used the button and it came and I spoke with the rep. Then it said it was a good test.

I'm pleased with it. This morning, I attempted to go out the door that I forgot I was protected by ADT. All the bells and whistles went off. But I was able to enter my passcode correctly. I've been satisfied.

I'm really happy with them. Someone calls me up and checks to see if I'm okay. I don't really need that service because I live with my brother. But if I lived alone, that would be a lifesaver. Their reps are very friendly. You get to feel like you know them. I've had an excellent experience. They contact me if there's any loss of connection between my device and their office, so I know I'm always covered.

I carry the device with me wherever I go. I have more security that in case I do have an accident, there's someone there to help me. Their reps are all wonderful people. I haven't run into anybody who's even slightly grumpy. The only drawback is that sometimes, it takes a while to get them on the phone. I'd call them and it would say, "Call in progress." Sometimes it'll do it 10 times and by that time, I could have been dead already. But other than that, ADT gives me security and well-being.

I feel very protected when I'm alone because I have ADT Medical Alert. I like the idea that when I go outside and take the unit, I'm covered no matter where I go. I know somebody will be there if I need help. When I accidentally hit it, the team was very understanding.

When I forgot to charge my medical alert device, ADT called to tell me it needed to be charged and their reps were good. But I don't care about this strap and I will get something I like that looks better.

I've been more independent since having the device. I also feel comfortable walking alone. I'm enjoying my pendant that I have. Everything is okay. It's great to have. People would be more relaxed if they had it.
