I took ADT Medical Alert because I'm very well-satisfied with the Home Security I have. My sons and I agreed that it was a good company to work with and I got perks with them. I'm starting off with the basic and if I think I'm headed for more problems, they told me I could upgrade it at any time. And it was no contract. They made it sound like if I changed my mind and I went into assisted living and maybe I didn't need it, it would be no problem returning it. I like their policy. Also, one thing I was impressed with was I called and ordered it one morning and I spoke to the girl for about an hour. She was so kind. Then, the device came the very next day after I ordered it. I would recommend ADT.

I called Medical Guardian and I did not like the way the salesperson talked. He was very pushy and did not give me the information I needed. I called Life Alert and they sent me a brochure. Then my daughter said since I got ADT security, just get an ADT Medical. I haven't used it, thankfully. I'm supposed to test it every so often, but I didn't know how to do it. Overall, I'm very satisfied. I live alone, but I'm not alone.

I just had a triple bypass not long ago. One morning, I got up and I felt dizzy, and I thought, I live on my own and if something were to go wrong, I have no means of communicating. Having ADT gives me a bit more peace. It's easy to use and I don't have a problem wearing it every day. I travel with it too.

Robert wears that wristband all the time. He got a letter last week about that the unit was not being charged. When I was here, I went and looked at it. Robert and his daughter actually put the thing upside down. So it should have like an arrow which way to put it on the charger. It's very easy to put that upside down and then it's not charging. It's sitting in the cradle, but it's not charging. For an older person, that is not a good design.
When you're dealing with older people, sometimes a step-by-step or a picture on what to do and how to do it is really what they need. They could make a handy little thing that he could put on his desk that shows what to do if things happen. But when I called ADT, they were as nice as could be. Their customer service is excellent. They were very helpful. The rep walked me through exactly what we needed to do, because I had questions, like are we supposed to always leave it on the cradle. The professionalism of who I talked to was excellent.

My doctor didn’t want me alone in the house and the ADT Medical Alert was available through my ADT service. I usually wear it all day. It worked for me during the time that I needed it. I’m not gonna keep it but for a couple of months.

I have ADT for my alarm and they gave me a special offer for the medical alert device. I'll feel safe because it's right there and I can push the button. I happen to accidentally push that when I was taking a shower and the box came right on. The response was right away. They kept asking me if I was okay and I told them I’m fine. I have it to go around my neck and I don’t like the comfort of it, but so far, I've had someone here with me. When I'll be alone, I will wear it.

I wanted something that the watch part would be self-contained - that I could receive and send messages over the wristwatch. But it's not true with ADT. You have to have a little device in addition to the wristwatch. So, it wasn't what I wanted. I sent it back. I wrapped it up and put a label on it. ADT said it would be another month before I would get the money back.

Hello Nelda. We apologize for any frustration this has caused you. Once the equipment has been received we will notate the account and process the refund accordingly. Thank you!

I always wear my cell phone. But I realized that if I were to fall or something like that, I might not be able to get to my phone. I just wear the device underneath my blouse and I would be able to reach up there and press the button and be able to get the help I needed. It can be a little heavy sometimes and it gets a little frustrating. But for the most part, I don't even notice it. I feel secure. I've tested it every couple of months and the people say, "Call us any time to make sure it's working." I've done that. It's just that I'm paying 33 and I would be a lot happier if ADT came down a little bit in their pricing to around 25 instead. I'm a senior citizen, so every penny counts. But there's an old saying that you get what you pay for. They're excellent.

We had another product but it kept cutting in and out. We had a hard time catching up with a person even when we did our test. One of them was faulty equipment and we had to end up sending that back. That was a no-no due to the situation of my husband and I and our son. My husband had seizures, so he needs something with him at all time when I'm not around. Then, even though there's someone with my son at all times, he has a base ADT 911 caller and it works great. Even when we do our tests, they're always right there on point. They answer every time. That was really impressive for me, especially for last week when we had a medically alert. When he hit the button, got the call, the people answered in a matter of seconds. He said it was an emergency. Within minutes, they said that the ambulance and everyone are on their way. The ambulance took about 15 minutes to come. But they did their part and got up here. ADT was more efficient.

My son made me have a medical alert device because I live alone. We have ADT in our house and he just thought it would be convenient. He did all the setup because it was his deal. We've already had one checkup that I have figured out how to do and it went through easily. The device is hanging around my neck. I'm going to get a better chain on it so it's a little more becoming. I feel a little more secure with it even though I didn't want it. I don't even notice it that much.

I feel a lot more secure since using ADT Medical Alert because I know that they're going to call someone and that they'll continue to call to make sure that someone comes to get my daughter with special needs if I need to press the button. I had a stroke, so it was hard to call numbers. My daughter can understand instructions, but in an emergency situation, it was kind of panicky trying to get her to understand that she needs to call somebody to come get her. At 4:00 in the morning, people weren't answering their phones. She would just be paralyzed herself with fear and she didn't know what was going on. At that time, she couldn’t ride the ambulance anymore. She would have just been left here alone. But ADT would have kept calling all the people on the list until they got somebody.
I accidentally hit the button once when I was outside and they’ve been great and patient. When I had a stroke and was on the floor, I thought of how are they gonna get in my house. They have the information now with the key outside and they would let paramedics know where it is and my medical history. It’s so convenient. I have that comfort knowing that I have that safety to wear if I have an emergency situation all around. If something happens, I have something close by.

It makes me feel very safe, having them right there in my pocket, on my waist, wherever I carry it. I can go to the store by myself now. Before, I would never do that because I might have these sudden dizzy spells and then I would have to be rushed to hospital and I got all these strangers around me. Finally, after the second day and it was blinking red and white, I went over there and pushed the button. They answered me immediately and I told them what it was doing. My husband hits the device on something or pushes the button every week sometimes. I'm trying to teach him how to work it and to use the monitor. He kept saying that thing around his neck was a microphone. It’s the pendant that he alerts when it’s the monitor that he needs. There was one incident where the EMS were sent out. I was there but the reps called immediately. They have been very polite and nice. I would highly recommend ADT but would tell others to make sure they read the manuals, be up-to-date on all of that, and to call if they need help with some part of it.

My mother's 89 and had an ADT Medical Alert for a while. I went through some operations with my spine and I'm not walking really well and I'm falling. I used the device a couple of times and it worked fine. We like the device and we're happy with it. I only had to talk to customer service on a couple of occasions and they were very pleasant. I have to call them and tell them where I'm gonna put a key. If I fall and call that machine and nobody answers it, then they can come. But they wouldn't know whether to knock the door down to come in or not. Other than that, I'll keep using ADT. The amount of money to pay is good.

The team at ADT has been great. One time I had gone out to my car to put my purse and my water in, and I've come back up the steps to get my dogs because they had a vet appointment. I fell right inside my door and I didn't have enough strength in my legs to get me up. They tried calling my son who was out of range. He was working. They called my daughter-in-law and she came around and got me up. The only problem is that when I have forgotten to put my little monitor on the charging app, they don't call me, they call my son, and he doesn’t need to be involved. It’s fine to call him when I fall, but not when I forgot to hook that back up to charge it.

The first time I ordered the home security system, the wristband signal would be in the bedroom and the electronic part, where you receive and accept messages, was 45 feet away. It wouldn't work. I reordered through Decades and they ordered the same thing. It's not going to work. I need some kind of a monitoring system that includes two speaker microphones in two separate rooms. Also, over the years, I've had people come and change the batteries, which I paid for mostly. I thought I have an insurance policy that would take care of that but changing batteries isn't included in the insurance so I spent $7 a month pretty much for nothing.

If the reps hear something, they are right on it. They do better than the alarm system. My alarm system can go on and on and on, and nobody will answer. But the device can bump up against anything and it will turn on. I'm old enough not to play with it, but I don't want it to keep ADT calling me. Other than that, your mind feels better. Sometimes when I leave home, I would be like, "Wow, I'm going too far away from home." I've never had to go that far from home. But ADT said two football fields. It makes me safe. Even if a break-in happens, I can push it. And if I pushed it, ADT will know something's wrong. I don't have to fall.

The ADT Medical Alert is super sensitive. I was putting off taking a shower because a week ago when I took a shower, the fire department ended up at my door. So, I just took it off and put it right next to the shower so that if I fall, I can reach it. But they've been very easy to work with. I have the lockbox at the door and It goes on the outside of the door that you put a key in. So, if some police need to get into your house, they don't have to rip the door off. I'm just putting off getting that set up because my friend tried to set it up and was not able to. My caregiver really worked on it for quite a while. Before, I can leave my husband at home and go shopping but now, I can’t go off and leave him unless somebody is here with him. He does fall and I was afraid he’d fall while I was gone but we will be placing him in a nursing home as soon as they get him qualified. So, I’m gonna have the ADT Medical Alert device changed into my name. It has been good but when my husband fell, it didn’t go off. When I go to take my shirt off, I would be like, “Oh, it’s gonna go off.” I always use my garden. So, I’m in my garden, and I'm wearing it around my neck. I feel safer. I’d be frightened to fall or stumble. And for even outside, if you’re around your house, it’s effective. I'm a retired RN, so I think it's very effective for folks who live alone at home and they need help. If you're not even elderly and you live alone, you never know. You may need it. Marilyn experienced some falls lately. The Medical Alert that she was wearing didn't activate upon fall. We were told that this one would trigger a phone call to 911 if she fell. One time I must've hit it on something, then they thought I fell. If I wear it around my neck and if I brush my teeth and it hits the countertop, somebody would say, “Hello, Charlene. Is something wrong?” They’re right on top of it. Then I have to go to the base and hit it and say I’m okay. Other than that, my alert is really easy to operate. I love it. I just hate stuff around my neck. I feel like I’m wearing something all the time and I’m always feeling it.

I started out with Life Alert. My children looked at that and they said, "We have ADT and we can get a better system with ADT than you do with Life Alert." So I canceled them and went with ADT. However, I have to take it off when I go to bed because it feels like it's trying to strangle me. I don't feel comfortable with it. The floors are wood but they're not slippery. So I'm able to go to the bathroom and come back to bed and do things that are normal at night. But when I get up in the morning, I take it out of its charger and put it in its pouch and hang the pendant back on me.
But when I wear it in the shower, I have had problems with it. I haven't touched it and I haven't done anything. I haven't even bent over when it goes off. The first time that happened, I had left the main unit in its charger. Then I was in the shower and I couldn't hear it. So they were calling me. Finally, I got in touch with them before they called. But they had already sent a unit out to come and take care of me and I was fine. It's done that several times.
Also, I'm very careful when I take it off and lay it very gently down on the window ledge right by my bed because it's gone off a couple of times just doing that. So the last time it happened, whoever I talked to said that they would consider sending me another one, that maybe this one was too sensitive. But this device makes me feel a little better. I have stepped on a step and started to fall backward and my daughter was right behind me. I am not in denial of my Parkinson's but I'm still walking and I'm still doing everything I normally did. It's just not as easy. So this lets me know that if I fall, I'm gonna have help.

My Medical Alert's clip is so strong, I can't get it on the belt. They call it the console and it's the one that has the speaker in it and it communicates with the satellite. There's a little pouch that you put it in and you can hook it on your belt. But the hook, it's so strong you can't even open it up. But once you get it on it stays on, so that's the advantage to that. Other than that, FedEx dropped it off when I ordered it and it was very nicely packaged. But I probably didn't need to get the fall pendant and I'm better off getting the wristband. I asked if I could get a wristband and somebody said on the phone that it was going to cost an extra $5 a month. And I didn't want to do that, so I live with what I have.

So she's walking with a cane, which is great, but we want to be able to keep it attached to the cane because she has a cane with her at all times. Otherwise, that's been very troubling. She's getting better and she's going to be on our own soon, so we're trying to figure out how to keep the mobile device attached to the cane. Otherwise, we're very satisfied with them. I wanted to stay with ADT because I have ADT security but the unit did not work for me. Constantly, a voice from the unit would tell me that I needed to put it onto the charger. I put it on the charger and half an hour later, it would say it was fully charged. Normally, it takes three hours to charge it. I would take it off and 30 minutes later, the voice would tell me the unit needed to be charged. This was going on day and night and I couldn't have that voice talking to me all night long.
I talked with the company and they tried to resolve the issue. They sent me a second one, thinking the first one was defective. I tried that one for a couple of days and it did the same thing. It kept telling me I needed to charge it. The minute I put it on the charger, it said it was fully charged. Finally, I got so fed up with the unit that I sent it back. It might work perfectly for somebody else but for me, it was useless. We finally came to the conclusion that I live up in the mountains in Prescott, Arizona and I do have internet but it is weak. The system needs to work with internet so anybody who gets it has got to have internet to make it fully functional. If they don't, they may run into the same problem that I had.

I have ADT security for my home for a couple of years and they do a good job. When my wife had dementia in the early part of February this year, we needed some safeguards around the house. We talked about a medical alert and I knew ADT had it. My daughter and I thought it would be a good idea to put the communication box with two fall pendants because my wife has already fallen two times before we ever thought about this. That was one plus to get it. I called ADT and the advisor that I talked to was very nice. By the end of the conversation, we took the service for the home alert service.
The only thing I don't like about the pendants is they're too nerdy. You really got to be careful where you put them down and how hard you put them down. If you fall, there's a gimmick in here that trips ADT for them to call us on the communications band and find out if we need help which is a good thing. That way, we don't have to call the fire department or the police department if something happens. I've only had it since February 23th and it seems to be working fine. They're very conscientious. If problems come up, like a low battery or I take off my pendant and put it on the dresser too hard and it goes off, they're Johnny-on-the-spot to get back to you and to find out whether you need help or it was just a miss.

The ADT medical alert unit didn't work out. I had had one before from another company. It was a little thing I wore around my neck in the house and out the house. I spoke right into the little thing that was around my neck. This one with ADT, they had three different things I had to have, one for around my neck when I'm supposedly in the house, one for on the go and one for the bathroom. I felt like when I went out the house, it was the same as if I was in the house because wherever I had this thing based at, if it was in my bedroom and I go into my garage and fall down, it can detect that I fell down in the garage but they can't hear what I'm saying from the garage.
After I got the device activated, I happened to look over at my end table and I noticed that it wasn't doing anything. I had it in the cradle to charge it and it wasn't blinking. Just as I noticed that it wasn't blinking, ADT called me to tell me that it was showing them low battery. I told them it was sitting in the cradle but there were no lights blinking. The rep tried to work on it from there and she told me she'd call me back because whatever she was doing wasn't working. When she called me back, she said they couldn't get it to crank back up so they were gonna send me a label to return it. Three days later, they sent me another one.
It was supposed to be $40-something a month but when I got the bill, it was almost 100. I called to inquire why and they told me I had to pay for activation. They gave me a couple of other things plus the monthly bill. I said, "I haven't even had it a month and I'm just getting the new one that y'all sent me because the other one wasn't working right after a week."
At first, they weren't willing to do anything then I spoke to someone else and he had me on hold for a little while. I told him, "I'm sending it back. Send me another label. I'm not paying $100. I can't afford it and nobody even told me that I had to pay to activate something that I'm going to be using." I also said I never liked the fact that I had so many parts to go through it. I just wanted one little thing to go around my neck that did everything I needed and I didn't know it was gonna have that many things to go with it. Most of the time, I don't have pockets in my things. I would have had to have a pocket or a post that I can put the other thing in or they have a little case that you can put it into, like clip it on my clothes.
They sent me another box and a label and I returned it. But the guy, after we talked and he had me on hold for a long time, he came back and said that they were going to take the whole thing off the bill, which they did and I was fine with that. But I have the home security system and I was wondering why would they charge me that much money. I thought it was crazy to have to pay to activate it. How is someone gonna use it if they don't activate it? Nobody ever told me that I had to pay all that. I didn't get all the right information and I didn't want it.

One day, I bumped into it and I didn't even know because I have it hanging from my neck. They called and I said I hit it by mistake. They're very concerned and quick to respond. They're very accommodating too.
I feel fairly confident about ADT. I'm not too sure about them hearing me from the bedrooms upstairs or from the basement downstairs but I know if I press the button and they don't hear me and they call and I don't respond, they're gonna call out emergency help for me. That's all that matters. If I need help, I will get it and the expenses I save is more. One day, they hadn't heard from me and they called to check up was I okay. They go out of their way to do everything they can to make you feel satisfied and secure. They put that extra touch in and it's like getting a hug.

The installer of the security system was very friendly, helpful and he explained things as we went along and I was very happy with him. When I found that a few days later that the window in one of the bedrooms could be opened even when the system was armed, he came back and put in a relay thing that would carry the signal onto the main panel and that thing works fine. The second one they sent, Robert ended up getting it caught around his neck in a necklace. We had to cut the thing to get it off. So they sent a new one. But when he had cut it, it dropped on the floor and we couldn't get the thing turned off and it took them about five minutes to answer the call. They kept saying, "Call in progress. Call in progress. We'll be with you. We'll be with you," but they weren't.
Our house is not too small but you can't go from one part of the house to another half, the device will go off but you can't answer because they can't hear what you're saying in the monitor. The device is fine in the house, but other than that, you have to carry a monitor with you every place you go. Robert is not really attuned to that. He doesn't want to do that. So that is one part that I don't like. You can't get a wrist monitor for that particular type.

My husband and my momma have died, and I'm still with it.
I've had to use the button twice. I had to activate it. I like that ADT does contact my contact people to let them know that the battery is low or that they need to be charged. And should I leave home without the actual monitor in my pocket, then they contact my contact people to let them know that I'm out of range, and that way, somebody would have to look out for me or they would try to contact me. I don't understand why I have to keep the monitor charged, but I have to take that with me. It seems like if I charged it, then that would be enough. ADT would know that I have left home or left somewhere. I don't know why I would have to have the monitor with me. It was very simple to set up my mother's ADT Medical Alert. She has had no problems with the device at all. She's happier having that device and it's great if she falls. Also, the reps have been excellent.

My doctor ordered the ADT device for me. Sometimes, I get up and I feel like I’m gonna fall. I might get up too fast and I get dizzy. I keep the thing around my neck just in case because sometimes I do fall down. The ADT reps are very nice. I really like ADT because they check in with me even though I don't use it that much. It's very good to have around.

My children are very protective and they worry about me. We live in Portland, Oregon. We live in a lovely neighborhood. But then we're having murders and we have homeless. This is all in Multnomah County. It's a very liberal county and everything is for the homeless and anybody who can harm somebody else. It's just terrible. I'm moving into Clackamas County and they enforce the laws and they don't have all these. Now, where I'm moving, I've been given another medical alert device. But I'm going to keep the ADT one because it's the better of the two. I'm very pleased with it. When you first start wearing something around your neck, you have to be very cautious that you don't bump into something.

I keep my ADT Medical Alert charged just in case. The last time I tested it some months ago, ADT called to check it out. I did walk outside when they called to check. At that point, I could hear them and they could hear me. I asked them where I was and they told me where because I was wondering if it was even giving a signal.
It is very rare that I use the device unless I'm going somewhere with my purse. For some reason, I haven't really trusted the smaller device but at least I know that there's a mic on the larger one. I just don't like it around my neck 'cause it's too bulky. I don't mind it when I'm out in my yard 'cause I will just put it on a belt and put the case around on a belt loop. ADT should make their Medical Alert device more comfortable where I can carry the device with me and I wouldn't have to go in my purse because if somebody snatches my purse, the device is gone too. I would definitely have it every day whenever I go and wear it if it has a little more discreet design.

We've had the ADT Medical Alert for a while now. We've put it in my mother's condo because she still lives alone. It’s there just in case of emergency. Every once in a while, she bumps the device or sometimes, the battery goes low and the guys from ADT Medical Alert are quick to call. We’re thankful for that. If anything ever does happen and she needs it, she knows that it’s pretty reliable.
ADT sends us new things when they need to. They have this new program where the ADT person calls on a day just to check in on the person and have a conversation with them. I set it up for Friday. It’s nice, especially if the person doesn't have a lot of people to talk to. So it’s more than just a medical alert system. People really care and they're checking on the well-being of the person.

With the system that I have, it switches over to battery when the power goes out. It's worth the $10 more a month. Although the necklace that I wear is very sensitive. It goes off nearly every day. You have to quickly hit the button, hold it down, and it beep-beeps, and it's canceled. That's the only thing I've had to get used to. It's got to be sensitive so that when you fall, then it tells them that you fell. I have a call every week from ADT to see how everything's going. So that's good.
