I noticed charges for $4.95 on my bank statement from Netzero which I once tried to set up an account with but was informed that I couldn't because of my location, so I told them to just forget about it. The guy could barely speak a word of English but I'm pretty sure he said, "Okay, no problem. Your service is canceled."
Now, about a year later, I'm seeing these charges, so I call and sure enough, I get an Indian woman who can barely speak a word of English, and she tells me this has been going on since last May, and she says that I have an account open for Norton Internet Security, which I already have on my computer (I bought it). So, I told her to cancel the account, but we will see the next bank statement. I have a feeling this is not over yet.

My account was terminated in January but I just received a notification stating that it was suspended. Why am I being billed for something that has been canceled? What are you going to do about refunding my money that has been taken fraudulently? Why do I have to go through this ** with NetZero every three or four months? What kind of business model do they have, saying, "We've got your credit card and we'll charge you whenever we want?"
I need this resolved and my money returned. I don't care if it's ten cents. An illegal transaction is just that, illegal. I sent emails and talked to a representative on the phone. I was assured it has been cancelled. Look at the last time it was used. Was it November? Was it December? No one here uses the phone for Internet. It was for a guest who is no longer here. But the service continues to pop up like Freddy Krueger and suck funds out of my account.
Hey NetZero, you **. I cancelled my credit card that's on record with them and informed them that I want my ** money! We all need the CEO's address and email. I will send him boxes of ** with NetZero CDs stuck in them to represent the ** service they provide. Service? Since when is theft a service?

My overall experience was horrible. Rate it as less than zero.
In short, I lived w/my Mom right before she passed in October of 2009 and the number you have on-file (i.e. 816-761-6572) was SHUT OFF in November of that same year; her number (check your records)
Nonetheless, I have continued to be charged for the last 17 months (11/09 to 7/11) for a service I DIDN'T UTILIZE. I couldn't EVEN if I had wanted to; there was no phone service, as stated earlier.
I talked to someone in Billing and they claim there was no cancellation noted on my file (not true) and the best they could do for me was reimburse me 1 month's billing and then eventually, after talking w/a supervisor--2 month's bill!!! OUTRAGEOUS!
I plan on reporting this to the BBB AND the Attorney General's office for the state of Missouri. BTW, your customer service was NOT HELPFUL AT ALL (see above) and actually insulting to offer such a paltry solution. My motto: "What goes around, comes around." Hope you are still in business next year. (sigh)

I was visiting my sister in Florida, who had just purchased a new Dell computer. I put the computer together for her and wanted to connect to the internet and set up email for her before I left to return to PA, since she is not computer literate. I installed NetZero on her computer and then called them to set up a "free" 30 day account on my credit card. I was switched to India and spoke with a man who said my credit card wouldn't be billed for 30 days and that I need the 14.95 version which had Norton Security. I explained that I had just installed the latest version of Norton on her computer and didn't need it. He insisted I did and I insisted I didn't need it. We hung up after several rounds of this.
I then realized there was no modem on my sister's computer so she called ATT and set up an account. ATT would send a modem the next day. I called NetZero back and was connected to an Indian named "Summer". When I tried to cancel the account, she insisted I needed Norton even with cable. I again said I did not want or need anything from Net Zero. After several minutes of this, I asked "Summer" what part of no she didn't understand. She then, in a threatening tone, said my credit card number could end up on the internet for everyone to use. Needless to say I was shocked and upset.
I hung up and promptly called American Express to cancel my card explaining my conversation with "Summer". Also, when I tried to uninstall NetZero from my sister's computer the computer froze, three separate times! I also think Norton Symantec has some responsibility since it's their program that Netzero is pushing.

I tried to cancel Netzero for 5 months now. Every month, I call up yelling at them, after trying to contact someone, sometimes taking hours, and they tell me I will be refunded and canceled. I am going on the 6th month now, and guess what, Netzero charged. I don't understand how this company can be allowed to continue this business practice. I've read, literally, hundreds of similar complaints dating back years. What can be done? I just want them to quit. I would also love to see action taken against them. It isn't fair that there isn't something that can be done. I hate you Netzero.

I have called Netzero several times to cancel my internet account with them due to the fact that I have not been able to connect with internet, errors have occurred or I just have been bumped off of service. They keep wanting to set me up with tech services and charge me for checking out. My computer is not/has not been the problem, their service is. I have obtained new service with another server and am now on high speed instead of dial-up.
Today January 6, 2011 at 1:38 pm PST, I have cancelled my account with Netzero through their agent by the name of Vella. I told her that the call was being monitored and that funds could no longer be drawn on the account as I had notified my banking agent to cancel any further transactions. At this time my computer is being blocked by Netzero and will not let me access the new server and is drawing errors created by them. Vella said the account would be closed in 4-8 hours, that an e-mail confirming cancellation would be sent to me. The service from Netzero has been unsatisfactory for the last 2 years and after many attempts to cancel and to stop being billed for services not rendered, I hope that this is the end of this nightmare.

Tried to cancel Netzero. Was told I was cancelled. The next day, I got an email thanking me for subscribing to their service. Kafka is still alive and well! Called back. Told I was signed up for a backup program at $14.95 a month. No! Requested total cancellation of all services. "Just a moment sir." Ten minutes later, told my account was now cancelled but I would be provided with a three month e-mail account and then be charged $11.95 a month. No! Okay then, I will only be charged $4.95 a month for Norton security. No!
Finally, I asked the CSR to quit trying to sold me things and cancel my account completely, please! She said she would. But failed to give me a cancellation number. I checked my email nothing. I called back and obtained a cancellation confirmation number and was told I would also receive an email confirmation. From what I have read, I better go change my checking account or I fear I will be calling Netzero once again to recancel my cancellation. Wow! Total elapsed time: two days and many, many lost in translation minutes.

On 9/24/10, I called California and talked to a Jennifer to cancel my account with Netzero. On 12/15/10, I noticed they were still charging me monthly at $4.95. I called both California and my credit card, Navy Federal about this. I called Navy Federal only after Jennifer said to wait and she was transferring me after she told me about the 9/24/10 call. I waited about five or six minutes and hung up as nobody came on the line. Jennifer could hardly speak English. I have sent dispute forms to Navy Federal. I only paid the bill net of the Netzero charge. Stephanie, at Navy Federal, was most helpful. I also sent a letter asking if I should stop using Navy Federal's credit card until this is corrected. It was Stephanie who said I also had a $2.97 charge the last month and there was another $4.95 charge that they received. I didn't catch the $2.97 charge.

I canceled my account by email on 09/10 that I have had for at least 5 years. The fees were still taken out of my bank account as of 12/10. I contacted Netzero. He told me that the only way you can cancel this account is through phone. After quite a long disturbing talk, the rep issued me a two month credit. On 12/09, I noticed a charge of $25.00 on my bank card statement from Netzero. It was a charge for early cancellation. Netzero said that I changed to upgrade the account in 01/10 and it was to a 12-month contract. The rep who accepted my cancellation did not make me aware of any contract or that there was a fee for canceling the contract. They will not refund my $25.00.

We have been signed up with Netzero for only 3 or 4 months and have only been able to log in a very few times. You can forget getting any of the sites pulled up. We have tried to contact them several times and it has been no help as they blame our computer and our errors and then charge us 1.95 for trying to make me feel stupid. Me and my husband are really trying to find a more efficient provider who is in it for more than just the money. I never saw my 30 free trial, and my debit card is having charges pulled from it every month even though they know we are very really unhappy with their service. They don't seem to care because they keep taking my money. I think this site and all others of its kind should be fined and shut down.
You should not have to pay for help from your provider when you are already paying them every month for service. You may or may not get on any certain day, and this is the way we feel. It seems there should be a law preventing them from charging to help for a service they are already receiving money for. I feel, in my opinion, that the technical problems are created on purpose by Netzero so they can force people to call. This is my belief. Thank you for your time and taking the time to read this. I hope you heed warning when it is offered.

June of this year, I had Comcast installed then called Netzero to cancel my account held for 7 years. I explained I didn't need their service anymore and Netzero hi-speed was not at all hi-speed. I was told, "okay we're going to give you the service free for 3 months."
I kept seeing $4.95 debited from my account. I called again to India (yes) to cancel and was given a 10 min harangue by India woman I could barely understand trying to get me to retain Norton security software as a back up to all the problems likely to happen to my computer in the future for a charge of $4.95/month. The woman would not accept "NO" for an answer. Finally, I had to say I don't want Norton, I don't want Netzero anymore, so close my account.
I intend to write my CU to have them reject any further charges from Netzero. I've heard this can be done to avoid future costs. Beware of these hucksters from India.

I explained how I wanted to cancel my whole account and after bantering back and fourth, he said he would cancel the account. I will never deal with this company again. We live in the Northwest (Idaho) and our landline service was sold by Verizon to Frontier. We like the NetZero high speed internet ad on TV and ordered their DSL. We received a setup kit immediately. We set up the system to our desktop PC and got everything working. After a few "drops" in service while we were online, we went to get online on 08/13/2010 and found we were disconnected by NetZero. At the same time, we keep receiving automated phone messages from Frontier Telephone Company trying to sell us their DSL package. We finally spoke to a Frontier representative who told us that they have been disconnecting any company that has sold services for DSL on their proprietary lines without their permission. NetZero apparently is the biggest offender in this area. They did not have permission to use or modulate their services through Frontier's telephone lines. When Frontier picks up a pulse on their line showing it is being used by another company, they immediately shut them down.

The latest Netzero game for revenue: About a month ago, upon logging on to Netzero, I received the error message "invalid user name or incorrect password". I had been on the internet with them the previous evening and had done nothing with my computer, so I knew they had generated the problem. I called their connection commitment number and verified that my account is in good standing. I explained to them my connection problem and had them transfer me to tech support (for free) for resolution of the problem. Their explanation was that they needed to reset my password so I could log in and then I could restore my password back to original.
On 8/21/10, I was again unable to log in. Calling the above number and verifying my account status, I again connected to tech support for free only to hear that they were performing maintenance on their servers. I inquired about a redundancy of their system of having a primary server and a backup server so maintenance could be performed without interruption in service. The tech was clueless in this area. In waiting for 25 minutes to be connected to the tech, the recording informed me of their off hour call times, 11:00PM to 5:00AM. It seems that this would be the time to perform your server maintenance rather than 7:00AM CST. I was able to log on around noon that day.
This morning, I went to log in and received the invalid user name/password error again. Calling the above number and checking my account status, I was transferred to tech support for free to have them reset my password so I could log in and reset my password back to original. It would seem that Netzero is creating technical issues to generate revenue. Let's say you have 500,000 customers calling in with a technical issue and each call takes 20 minutes to resolve the complaint, at $1.95/minute, in one day you have generated $19,500,000.00. Not a bad day's wage for a problem you created. If I know my system is not the source of the problem, I'll be ** if I'll give them a red cent of mine for something they are creating. Too bad the government isn't watching out for the consumer other than these postings.

I did not need or want a email for a year but I agreed just to use the money that I wasn't going to get back anyway. I got my bank statement and viewed NetZero account taking $14.95 out of my account. I have DSL internet with another company. I was furious as we had tried as when I got married to my husband he had NetZero and I tried them for a few months and did not like them, so I changed providers. This was in March of 2008. I called NetZero last night to question those charges. Spencer was the person I spoke with (if that is his real name). I told him my problem and he said I have two e-mails on file. When he asked me what my e-mail was I told him; he got all anxious so it seemed from my end. Then he told me we had 2 accounts: my husband’s and mine. I asked him then how long have I had an account with them; he really then became flustered again. He said only since February and they would reimburse me for only June and I would have to go to my bank and report fraudulent charges and said someone else was using my account.
He then said, “Hold on, I am going to check on something.” He then wanted my credit card number and I said I am not comfortable at this point giving you my number. He said, “Ok, then I can't check to see how long we have billing your account and who is using it.” He said then it was not my e-mail for sure and he started retracting, saying that I did not need to know because it was just a bunch of letter and numbers. I told him I wanted that e-mail because I was going to give it to my bank. Then he starts reading off numbers and letters as **. I felt very suspicious with this Spencer person. We got back to the billing again and he said since this past February my card has been charged. It was February of 2008 and I had noticed on my statement--that’s how much I pay attention to what is being charged. Not only that, since they have been charging my card, they must have it on file. So I know he was lying.
He said he could check the account if I gave him my card number. I felt at this point I am going to go to the bank in the morning. He can check how long it’s been and how much money I can plan to have returned to my card. I gave him my number as it has already been compromised. He said I have since March of 2010 and I said, no, since March of 2008. He then said, “Ma’am, don't get mad at me. I am just telling you what I see here.” And I then told him, “Would you be upset if you found out someone has been using your card fraudulently?” Still quite upset with me, he said yes and wanted to get off the phone. I thought I would check NetZero out to see if anyone has complained. This company sounds shady for sure by all the stories. Is there anything being done? They need to be shut down.

My equipment and specifically my search engine is now rendered useless because of unauthorized advertising when any search is undertaken.

I have had Netzero since about 2003. I've paid for the service up until about July of 2009. Everything had been working fine. And now I can't log into my account. I called the billing and accounts dept and they said my account was active but for any further questions I'd have to talk to the support team, but they charge $1.95 a minute just to talk to them. I told the man on the phone I wasn't going to pay that price and so he gave me a web address so I could email them instead. Here it is: www.***. So I did that several time and every single time it brings me back to the home log in page. Every single time.
So what am I supposed to do? I have email addresses in there and some other information I can't access now. The reason I went with their free hours is because I finally got internet that wasn't dial up. I was going to just cancel Netzero but they talked me into keeping the 10 free hours. I should've gotten all my info. Out of there by now, but I didn't foresee this problem. And 2 bucks a minute is a huge rip off just to talk to somebody. I'm pissed!

I canceled my account with Netzero in November 2009. When I spoke with the representative I told her to cancel everything that I had already registered with another Internet provider. Then in December 2009, I was charged a fee of $4.95 for a Norton Virus Scan CD. I called and told them that I did not request the CD and to remove it from my debit card.
The representative told me that it would take 3 months to credit my account and that they would remove it. Then I received my bank statement for January 2010 and they charged my debit card again. I never used the CD and asked them not to provide me with anything. I have yet to be refunded the charges Netzero billed me. All charges were inappropriate charges.

I wanted to verbalize my brand of difficult situations that I've had dealing with NetZero ISP for the last 4 months. They market a setup disk to introduce their service in Wal-marts all across the country. They promised a free trial offer for their first month of service to attract your attention. As it stands, I was billed $55 for my service plan, and I needed to correct the situation accordingly.
Unfortunately, these folks outsource their Customer Service to the Philippines which sets the stage for a very difficult interface to solve your dispute. In mid-December, I reached an agreement with NetZero and established a credit of $52.50 to offset the $55 in fees for supposedly a free trial offer. I was satisfied until I noticed that they were accounting their credits one at a time, leaving a significant sum remaining on my Verizon phone bill every month.
As a matter of fact, they were planning to account for credits in the amount of $38.75 ($25 and $13.75 respectively) instead of the $52.50 agreed to in mid-December. Another worst-case scenario presented itself in having to deal with folks in the Philippines to get my due. I spent 45 minutes promising cancellation of service before I was finally able to get an intelligent supervisor to post the remaining $13.75 credit onto my bill that gets forwarded to Verizon.
In retrospect, at least 80% of the American market will be discouraged by the slow/sluggish service offered by NetZero, but not myself. These folks are especially quick to bill/charge but tedious and pondering in their attempt to focus on customer service. Wow! For anybody with the ability to read this woe/grief/misery, please think twice before you consider going with United Online, which offers both NetZero and Juno as Internet Service Providers.
At first, I thought it would be a cost-effective way of selecting an ISP, but I soon learned that when you need to deal with folks in the Philippines to handle a service issue that originates in the USA, something is noticeably wrong somewhere. Please consider your options before deciding to choose either NetZero or Juno as your ISPs, because you will be inheriting a difficult (if not impossible) situation in processing service problems. Thanks very much for the opportunity to make this clear, and by all means, have a very nice day.

I was looking for a service that was in my budget range. So I came across a "Free Month" Netzero. I had signed up and all was good until I received my bank statement. I was in the "Negative", $50.00 in ACH fees. So I called Customer Service and asked them to send my Credit Union a letter, and state that I shouldn't of been charged and that it wasn't my fault. They said, "I'm sorry, we're not responsible for overdraft charges." I said this is not my fault, I am on a fixed income and I can't afford $50.00 to be taken from me. I am now waiting for them to respond to my 3rd email and hoping they will send that letter to my Credit Union. Because by all the complaints about this company, we will all have a few shares in it!

They say it is because they sent me an email stating said charges, but the rep only disclosed a one time charge and a stated amount to be billed monthly. The hidden fees not revealed are 150.00 for a cancellation and 2.20 a month extra on top of the billed amount. These extras were never revealed, cancellation and surcharges, until after the expiration period.

A few years ago, we signed up for NetZero dial-up services. Then we upgraded to DSL on the computer. I was on the phone, doing the transfer with their help center. At no time did they mention that I would have to cancel my dial-up, or be billed for it. Two years later, after trying to call and ask about charges, and them repeatedly saying nothing about a "dial-up" account, I get the truth. I have 2 accounts. They charged me $179.40 for one year service. After a lengthy battle and threats to call the BBB, they agreed to credit my account $179.40. I would have to call back later to find out if they approved the other year. Three days later, they will only credit me another $89.70. And the dial-up has been canceled. I wanted to cancel the DSL also, but she said I have to call a different number. What a mess. I am switching to my phone company service!
I would like to know if there is a lawsuit going on that I could join. They steal people’s money from their accounts and have no retribution. Theft is Theft! Holy cow, they are still charging me $5.95 a month for games! I thought it was a free trial only. I never authorized this charge! So now I get to be on the phone another 30 minutes to get this fixed. When you stay with the same company and upgrade to any service, the other service should automatically be canceled. Why would one need dial-up and DSL? They should be charged with a crime!
My bank account suffered greatly during these hard times. We had overdraft charges and insurance that wasn't paid on time because of them. I have endured a lot of time and suffered a lot of stress because of their mistake. They should be charged with a crime and banned from providing any service any further until they meet the BBB standards.

He then canceled my account and offered me a 5 dollar a month back up internet. I told him no. After being on the phone with her and repeatedly being put on hold for God knows what reason, she came back on and acted like she was doing me a favor by canceling my account (again) and withdrawing the charges. This is still to do with the ongoing case against NetZero about taking my $115.57 off my debit card without permission. Also, that for the whole month of July, I could not buy groceries, my dog's food, toilet paper, anything. I had to wash my clothes in my tub. It was devastating. As I stated, I live on disability, $674 a month. I live in an apartment complex through HUD. All my neighbors are in the same boat I am in, meaning they get small checks a month to survive. On a month, some do not even get a check.
My point is, my neighbors were helping me with food the best they could. My dog and I were eating loaf bread for three days. One of my neighbors found out, bought my dog some food then others gave me what they could. This is an outrage. It was and still is my disability money that NetZero stole off my card. I did not and still do not owe them anything. I cancelled NetZero on June 13, 2009.
I have been with MSN since and NetZero takes or steals my money off my debit card on July 2, 2009, three weeks after I had cancelled. The only, if any, amount I would have owed them would have been $9.99, not $115.57 but any way, Direct Express was supposed to give me back my $115.57 provisionary credit while they so-called investigated. As I told them, "What's to investigate? It is my disability money. NetZero did that without authorization." So, I sent a summary letter to the main company in Austin, Texas on July 3, 2009 at Direct Express' request while waiting for the form to be mailed to me to dispute the claim against NetZero.
I did not get the form until nearly the end of July, although I called Direct Express about it every day asking for my $115.57 back, the credit they promised me. Then they said, "it was denied." I said, "It can't be denied. I called you on July 2, 2009 when it first happened. You said you would send me a form to dispute it but while I was waiting on the form to be mailed to me, I could write the main company in Austin, Texas to write my own dispute summary so I did and sent it off on July 3, 2009." Up till date, I never got my money that was stolen from me by NetZero in July 2009.
I suffered. That was my grocery money, etc. but out of the blue, I happened to check my Direct Express debit card on August 3, 2009, and my $115.54 was put back on there. I was so happy. So, I went shopping and spent most of it, leaving me $14.24 left to live on until September 1, 2009. I put the card up in a safe place. I did not use it for eight days or more but I decided to go to a store called Li'l Cricket. I got four items, a dollar apiece, four dollars. I gave the cashier my card because I still had $14.24 left and to my shock, again, it was declined.
Embarrassed, I went home, called, put in my account # at Direct Express. It said zero balance again. I could not believe this. I was thinking NetZero did it again. So, I called Direct Express. I talked to a woman named Crystal or Christina. She put me on hold, came back and said that Direct Express denied my claim. I said, "Ma'am, that is bull," not the bad word, just ma'am that is bull. It was my disability money and the whole $115.57 was put back on August 3, 2009. The $14.24, it was what I had left from that so now I am broke, zero. I can't buy toilet paper, shampoo, my medicine, any thing. I want my $14.24 put back on my card asap. I have been stressing and am real sick from this.
This is an outrage. I do not want to have to wash clothes in a bathtub again. And I was at the hospital yesterday under anaesthesia. I had a colonoscopy and an EGD, the tube down my throat. The results: I have a large ulcer at the end of my esophagus and a hiatal hernia, I know, mostly because of the stress caused by NetZero and now my own company, Direct Express. I deserve better. I cannot buy the medicine the doctor prescribed for me. I want my money back on my debit card today, the $14.24.

According to their records, when I called in January, I agreed to a modified service. I assured them that I had not done so. The Netzero rep said they could only go by what's on my account record. I explained that I had canceled the service because I had canceled my telephone service and would not have agreed to a modified service. In April of this year, I ordered Netzero whilst on vacation out of state because the house didn't have wireless. They offered one free month, so I figured I would take that offer. My account was immediately charged. Moments later, I realized I didn't have a dial-up modem, emailed customer service to cancel the order and refund my account. I got an email later stating I needed to call them. I replied with, "No, I ordered online and I can cancel online. Do it and refund the money". They replied with, "We have issued next month of service to be free" instead of refunding my money. Uh, are you stupid? I said I can't use your service because I don't have a dial up modem.
So last week (this is June now), I saw a charge for Netzero service and immediately saw red from anger. I called the customer service. I explained how they ripped me off and I want this month refunded now. I already paid for a full month I never used and now they are charging me again. The call ended with them saying they would refund it. Today, I saw no return from them and called again and got put on hold then told "It won't go into your account for 1 to 2 billing cycles" - meaning 1 to 2 months. I said "It's going to take you people a month to return 8 bucks? Are you kidding me?" Then the 12th Arab person I talked to said, "What I can do is put you in for immediate refund of money and that would show up in 1 to 2 days". I'm like yeah, do that. Thanks.
Who waits a month to refund money? Well, I have a theory: A company who is thriving off the interest they get from money that is not rightfully theirs to be sitting in their accounts, collecting a month or two worth of my interest. Probably thousands of others as well. They are letting these tens of thousands of people who "forget to call and cancel" or are waiting for a month or two for the money to be returned to their accounts, make them rich by wrongfully withholding money. Let me say, Netzero service is horrible, customer service is worse, business ethic is horrid. I will never use their services again and if I can help it, neither will anyone I'll ever meet in my lifetime.

In June of 2008, I opened an account with NetZero using my credit card. Welcome, they said, this is a one-year contract. I started to use the dial-up right away. It lasted for three hours, then their computers canceled my service. I called the next business day and cancelled. Okay, was the reply, but you get 30 days free service. "What part of 'no' don't you understand?" I said.
This was June of 2008. I have been billed every month since then. I called for the second time and talked to someone that spoke horrible English. I requested a rep from the U.S. and was given a number to call. Guess what? A recording stating that no one was available to talk to me until 9 PM. Was this U.S. time or was it 9 PM East Overshoe time?
I'm going to file a complaint with the New York state's Attorney General's office, just as soon as I can. I feel that they are stealing from me, and have been doing so for a year now. How do they get away with it? Are their operations offshore? Today's date is 06/06/09 and the time is 5:37 AM Eastern Daylight time.

I have sent numerous emails and also written letter to this service without any response to my request to cancel my service! I am requesting a refund for those 2 years. I requested several times to have my account credited, again with no response. If this is not addressed ASAP, I will be contacting an attorney to have Netzero taken to small claims court. Why would I want to use Netzero when I have gone with another service for over 2 years now? Please address my complaint immediately. Thank you.

After numerous attempts by telephone, I have not been able to stop the charges. They have a series of canned reasons. They can't stop the charges and reasons - more information is required from me. They are obviously reading for a text. My only recourse appears to be to terminate my AT&T services and then begin new service.

I called NetZero customer service in February to cancel service. At that point, it had been 2 months without being able to read my email. The woman assured me that I would get 2 months free! All I wanted was to drop them, but she refused to listen! Why would you keep them around? So what if it only costs $10! I couldn't do anything with it. No email, no surfing either. The pass code went invalid in December. We changed it and 2 months later, I had quite enough. My call to them was to get rid of that useless service. My new ISP is beyond reproach! Now we can actually view YouTube without suffering through an hour of buffering, only to get booted off. I don't think they have supervision at all!
When our phone bill came in, NetZero was still being billed. 2 free months was a pipe dream. I'm ready to contact the BBB to see if they can grease the rusty wheel and actually do something about this scam the employees seem to be running. Mr. Goldston is having his reputation destroyed! I just called them again at 11:10am this morning, explained to some woman why I was calling and asked what it would take to cancel my service and after a while of putting me on hold, she finally agreed to transfer me to the cancellation department (which is the department that I was calling), and after 5 minutes of being on hold again, they disconnected the line and hung up on me. Last October 2007, my son and I were looking for a cheaper way to access the internet and we got a NetZero disc and tried to program our computer, but it didn't work, so we threw the disc away. December 21, 2007, our house caught on fire and we were displaced for approximately 8 months. The whole time we paid our phone bill in order to keep the same number, even though we had no service. Why did we do that, because our number has been the same forever.
At any rate, our computer has not been connected to anything since the fire. I paid my American Express bill today and for the first time since I got this card, I felt the bill was a little too high, so I asked to have someone help me go online and establish my password so I could look at my account. I saw a charge for $14.95 for NetZero and they have been charging me since last October 2007. I've talked to four (4) people now from NetZero the last one being the supervisor Andi, and she only repeated what everyone else said, and they all tell me that they do not charge for usage, they charge for availability. This service has never been available to me or my son.
When I called them up, they asked my name and my phone number. They don't even have the home number on record. How could they be charging me for the availability when you don't even have a number to make it available. I asked for the executive office number, they told me they didn't have that number. So I went on the Internet and found the executive office number ** prompt #4, Westlake, California. I am a caregiver for 2 elderly parents, and work a full time job. My mail is overwhelming. I've never taken issue to my American Express bill before, and what I normally do is call them from work on payday, find out what I need to pay and pay it over the phone. Today, the bill seemed a little high, that's why I questioned it, otherwise they would have got me for another month without me knowing. From now on, I'll be checking.

I told him I was not happy with his company and cancel my account. I thought it was closed until I got a letter from them saying I have been turn over to the UNL collection division for $14.90. I called 10/8/08 @ 6 pm and spoke with a Customer Service Rep. She couldn't help me I ask to speak with her supervisor Peter. He said they had no record of me ever called and my account was still open. I couldn't believe it so I try logging on - sure enough it was still active. So let say I didn't cancel my monthly charge which is $9.95 since Feb 2008. That is 10 months @ $9.95 per month = $99.50 balance due. But I received a letter for $14.90.
I noticed when I check to see if I could still get into Netzero 10-08-08, by the way is when I received the collection letter. That NetZero has since email notices showing I need to pay as of end of July 2008. It said I owe $29.95. So now which is it? Do I owe you $14.90 or $29.95 or $99.50? If I didn't cancel my account how come they didn't bill me for all the months they show it is still open. What a awful company to deal with. After I cancelled the account I was still receiving monthly charges on my American Express. I called American Express and told them I cancel the account. So, even though DSL is offered the five blocks that I moved, I could not connect to my old internet service.
I was forwarded to a customer service rep. I explained my situation, expecting an easy fix. Because I had was on a year contract, I was not allowed to move. My options were to: A) terminate my contract, pay the $150 termination fee, and start a new contract; or B) keep paying my monthly fee, but not be able to get on the internet. Even though I explained my situation (how was I to know that I would be getting a divorce when I signed up for service) they would not budge on their policies. I did not want to cancel my service within that year, I just wanted to continue my service, but at a different address.

I am legally blind and if you don't have services to help us I will have to change carriers. I will expect to hear from you and see a credit on my account. This has messed up all my bank account. and as a handicap person it has really upset me that people would take advantage of us.

I can not remember the exact date that I cancelled my netzero internet service but I noticed that it is still coming out of my checking account and I cannot find a phone number anywhere that I can call them and discuss this with but I thought you might be able to help me. They held out $17.94 out of my April check and I Had never gotten a copy of my transactions from my bank so I assume that this the same ammount that they have held out all along.PLEASE HELP ME.

I am paying for internet service and can not even log on! Every time I finally get in it goes back off! You have very poor and slow service!
No way to check my mail or even write to you!

I cancelled this dial-up service in February 2008 but they continued to charge my credit card $9.95 per month. When I emailed them they informed me that they had no record of my cancellation. At the time of the original call they informed me that they would mail me my confirmation number. They did not.
Impossible to contact them by phone to cancel, not allowed to cancel by email through my netzero account, and no mailing address available.

I've been using [the] service for a couple of years or more and I'm very tired of being yanked out of service in the middle of a project without warning. Occasionally I'll be warned of losing my connection and I'll typically hit the stay connected thing and all's well. But too many times I've been in the middle of something only to find that my connection has been lost. This is unacceptable!
I've lost too many letters, web sites, and pictures for this to continue as it's been. I live in the country where it's impossible to improve on dial-up. All I ask is that before [they] dump me that I have a chance to say NO! I'm so tired of being in the middle of an e-mail or another project and finding that I'm already off-line. I request that [they] either give me a warning EVERY time or inform me that that can't happen. There are many servers and my patience is wearing very thin. Surely I'm not the only one who feels this way. Please advise...
