I signed up for a one year contract for about 15 dollars per month, and no one told me the fees would go up to 28 dollars after 6 months. I believe this company is a scam outfit, all consumers be careful.
I don't know much about the internet, but I decided to use it to look for things that I am interested in. I won't be spending much time on there, so I chose netzero as my internet service, especially since I could use it away from home. I ordered their service and waited and waited. I called a few times, only to get the reply that it would be there anytime and how to track it online. Well, I have no online, so how can I check it? I did go to a friend's house and she tried to find the info out online, to no avail. I called and as usual, was put on hold and given the option to be called back in 30 minutes or so.
What is this, the 19th century? Neither my friend or I had the time to wait, so I decided to give netzero until Monday, and then I would cancel. No netzero, so I called, finally got through, got offered the moon and told them I want my money back. Finally the CSR got with the program, and authorized the refund. If I ran an internet company, I would bend over backward to get that modem and disk to me, not give excuses every time I call. I wouldn't have 400+ negative reviews. Please, if you haven't yet gotten their service, don't. I believe that they will be going bankrupt soon with their product and customer service.
I recently received the "upgraded" hot spot from NetZero. Since then, I have had no phone service since my phone goes through my internet service. I have spent so much time on my computer going back and forth with NetZero that I've had to buy more service. NetZero claims that Basic Talk is no longer supported by them and I needed to contact Basic Talk to find what to do to connect through NetZero. Basic Talk, says that NetZero has to disable the firewall they've installed in the hot spot. I have had to reboot my PC many times just to log onto Facebook or restart because my computer locks up. I can't access my email, which I told them, but they insist they have responded to my requests by email. I'll be returning and canceling as soon as I get another internet service.
I order an internet access device (hot-spot) in Sep. 8, 2015 with 2 GB data service plan - Mobile Broadband Plus. Got the device 3 days later (Sep.11) that work fine. After 1 1/2 days (Sep. 13), 2 GB data gone, service had been stopped. Without any internet access, I had to top up another 2 GB data that had been cost $29.95. Reconnection took forever. 15 minutes later, service had not back on. Now at 12:30 AM, I try to call their customer service on the phone twice, got disconnected twice. I had find out later that customer service stop serving after 2 AM EST.
Now, I try to upgrade my plan ($15). It had not been working. Then I try to upgrade one more time ($15). Still, nothing would go on with the internet access. In next morning, I called customer service. Finding out NetZero customer service is in INDIA, not Indiana, U.S.A. We had a hard to understand each other, so I hanged up the phone. Then go to email with my phone, and finding out the sale rep. with ordering got my own email address wrong. Everything is had been fine, after 24 hrs. It had cost me over $190 for two weeks of service. NetZero had not done anything to satisfied their customer or care. All they want is MONEY. DO NOT DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH NETZERO AT ANY COST.
I canceled my service with Netzero. They charged me two extra months of service and for the free device and they refuses to refund my money saying there is no record of my cancellation of services. The device did not work well. It was bad service all along. I wish I would have read these reviews before doing business with this rip off company. Wish they had a option for zero stars.
The Netzero device arrived on Thursday. I hooked everything up Friday evening. My nephew was playing Nick Jr. online on Saturday & I think by evening around 7ish that same Saturday. It stopped working and said a screen came up saying that I had to pay them $15.00 more dollars to continue. Mind you I just gave them $91.00 and some change to get the internet & told my bill wouldn't be due till the 3rd of the following month. This is a big gap. I ordered the most expensive package because I knew I use the internet a lot. I don't see how they possibly stay in business. I hope someone reads my review before even dealing with them. Now I have returned the device which was a chore in itself & now they told me this morning they will deposit my 64.98 back to my credit card in 1-3 business day.
They understand English when it's time to take your money but trying to return anything or complain they don't understand you all of a sudden. Also they will keep trying to hang up on you like it's an accident and it's not. I was determined to get my money back so I will let everyone know how if I get it or not. NEVER GET NETZERO. THEY SUCKKK... RIP OFF SCAM. I don't have my order number but I do have my customer service number.
I signed up for service this AM and was told that I could purchase a pre-owned modem for $24.99, $20 activation fee, and $6.99 shipping and handling. A total of $51 was agreed upon. Only to be sent an email that shows a purchase for a new modem $129.00, total charges of $136.00. I asked to speak with a supervisor about their fraudulent billing practices, TO NO AVAIL. I threatened to call my local news station to make the public aware of their unlawful practices and lo and behold an email was sent refunding the stolen moneys. PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY.
Set up an account for my family. One time fee of $98. The rep told me the next billing cycle was Oct 3. I had not received my device and they were trying to take out more money. I called them and they said I didn't pay for the service. After I paid they connect me for 2 days and they said I used up all data and I had to pay more. This company cannot continue to be in service. Too expensive. I had to cancel. 100 bucks down the drain.
Had NetZero and no longer need it and they still bill my account automatically. Presently I'm having my bank stop payment till someone from NetZero Contacts me into closings this account. I have not used this in 8 years but I will not be charged on a phone on hold waiting for someone to find my account. Funny thing is I cannot access this account but they still take your money. I will be talking with a attorney in getting my money back.
I called to cancel service with Netzero and request an address to send the product to them. They wanted to charge me an early termination fee for a product that did not work. I called my bank to stop any re-occuring debit from this company, but they took the money anyway. I called Netzero again, asking for an address to send their faulty product back and customer care transferred me to another number which I could not get thru. Very rude, it's like they hold you hostage and threaten to do what they're gonna do regardless how you feel. You're at their mercy over the phone.
I have experienced absolutely nothing but problems with NetZero. Nothing works. Now 5 months after I returned a device that did not work, NetZero billed me for the device and they are demanding confirmation of the returns. The passwords never work. Stay away from NETZERO!
NetZero gave us such a hard time! They made us buy data a few times in the last weeks and the internet services was finish in a few hours. They are STEALING PEOPLE'S MONEY! THANKS GOD WE HAVE OTHER COMPANIES TO GET SERVICES!
Netzero 3g stick sucks - Awful customer service. The device I ordered worked 2 days and then froze my laptop. I called customer service technical support and still no luck. So I returned the 51 dollar stick. Had to pay for return shipping because they were going to mail me a label! I couldn't get my email because I had no internet. When I signed up I was supposed to get a "free" month. They charged my 20 dollars. I did get that money back, but out of the 51 dollar stick charge, I only got back 24! I had to pay a connection fee AND SHIPPING for something that didn't work. I hope at least 1 person reads these comments and doesn't sign up for the service.
I thought I would save money so I signed up for NetZero so I wasn't locked into a contract with Verizon or Comcast. I used their device for 3 days. Only used 16% of my data. They will not give me a partial refund of the unused data or let me return the equipment for a credit there either. When I cancelled it took me about 10 minutes for their billing department to spell my name. Not an unusual name. Then she kept asking for my name over and over again asking how to spell it. She could not get it right. I don't know why that has to be so difficult but it is nothing compared to not being refunded for only 3 days of very unsatisfying use with a ripoff company. I'd be better off with Verizon after all of their hidden charges.
I thought NetFlix was the answer to my WiFi problem. Small, convenient, portable. Perfect, right? Not by a long shot. When I signed up they asked my need of WiFi. I told them I really didn't understand the whole MB but what I want to do is stream Netflix. I was told that 2,000 MB would be more than sufficient and if not I could upgrade to 4,000 MB over the phone. I got the device yesterday and streamed away. FOUR HOURS LATER I was out of data FOR THE MONTH!!! $52.90 provides 4,000 but you only get 8 hours of data.
What person in all the US only uses 8 hours of data for a whole month? The highest is $82.00 for 6,000 MB and only lasts 12 hours. What a scam!! My fault for not understanding the data crap, but isn't it their responsibility to tell me that? Had I known I would of NEVER ordered from them. They refused a refund but hopefully I will be reimbursed for the device when I send it back. All in all, a very unpleasant and expensive lesson. P.S. Pleasant, mannered robot reps but they don't tell you the whole truth AND very hard to understand them with their accents.
I have had this product for over a year now. Absolutely horrendous. Takes forever to load a simple web page if it actually loads it. Which doesn't happen all that often. It felt like I was back in the days of dial up modems. I am going to give Google's Fi a try. It can't be worse than this!
I called Netzero and signed up for their $19.95 service. Three days later I received the device. Following the directions I expected to be connected to the internet. Instead I have gone through 3 weeks of hell, speaking almost every day to someone who wanted me to take my device (a desktop computer) 2 of 3 miles away from where I live to see if it might work there. After 3 weeks, they decided it may be the device they sent so they sent another device. After a day and a half I called the tech people again. They told me they have to enable the device and to try again in an hour, which I did.
The device did not work again. I then called to cancel the service I did not receive only to find out I can get the $19.95 plus tax back but not the activation fee of $27.00. If I would upgrade to the $120.00 plan they would assure a plan that works. I believe this a bait and switch scheme. I must send back their equipment within 30 days. All I have to do is go online and download a label. Really, go online??? If I could go online I would be a happy camper. I am now on the phone (45 mins plus) trying to get them to send a return label so I can send their crap back to them so they can send it to the next victim. Do yourself a favor and pay the higher prices of a reputable company.
I just received the mobile internet from Netzero. I still had my house wifi. Netzero stated that within one hour that I had used 3 gigs and exhausted the wifi. That is a total ripoff. I tried contacting them to no avail. I emailed them.
Do not buy this product! Netzero is the absolute worst! $74/month and only lasted 3 days! TOTAL RIP OFF!!!
I want out, but I'm unable to get out. That is, I want to terminate all services and unplug my e-mail address with Netzero. Finally, the representative agreed to completely remove me from their services, but two days later I got an email message saying I was in there until the end of billing period. They keep charging my credit card and I can't get rid of them.
NetZero. I was considering internet through them using their mobile hotspot, But after calling the 800 #, the lady said customer reps are in the Philippines and that NetZero does not hire USA customer reps. I live in the USA. WTF! & no longer interested. Dissatisfied. Should be 0 in the rating, not 2 stars. Bbrrrrr.
Disaster day 1, shipped new iPhone & 4G broadband stick to wrong address. Request to 'port' old cell # is currently pending... Supposed to take 24-48 hours. I'm now waiting over 3 weeks.. with no cell service past 5 days as they cut off existing with porting request. Call center in Philippines is utterly useless. NetZERO accountability. Now dealing with 3rd 'senior executive' and senior technician who have not yet managed to resolve my issue and provide the service I already paid for. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
The service supposed to be 30 days but only last two weeks. When you download it takes up all day before you download and when you pay your bill you are paying twice the amount you suppose to pay when your service is disconnected. When you have data left over and not using it they still disconnect the service. When time for your payment which is due on your payday and have data left they still turn service off knowing you fixing to pay them. It's really a total rip off just to get customers to purchase their services. It's really not high speed platinum. It's slow speed platinum. When you open any website it takes forever to open and it's a shame that they are such rip offs. You really can't do nothing and if it WiFi why do you have data? The service is just lousy.
I returned their dysfunctional device, and I showed them the USPS proof that device had been returned. They still refused to refund me the charge. Out of last resort, I contacted my credit company to dispute the charge. Discover charged the amount back to Netzero. Not only did Netzero never respond to my email regarding the return proof, they actually canceled my account after the charge got disputed, and they did not even have the least decency to notify me about the cancellation. Discover told me Netzero never responded to their investigation either. That is how bad that company is!
I called them and spent 20 minutes demanding a supervisor. Some idiot in the Philippines refused to transfer me. I will be canceling the whole service. Worst company ever that I have dealt with. They are all ignorant and uncaring.
I signed up and paid $65 for the MiFi box, and a $20 connection fee. Seven days later, they charged me $22 for a full month's service. I called and asked why they charged me a full month when I didn't sign up until June 22. After only a few times on the internet, I was out of data and had to purchase an additional amount at a cost of $15. All in all I WASTED $122. The data gets sucked up so quick, it is ridiculous. They won't give me any refunds and I'm stuck with this worthless MiFi box. I will be contacting the BBB.
I placed an order for Netzero with the intent of finding the least expensive way to connect to the internet. I received their 4G Stick on Friday, July 3, 2015. I attempted numerous times to access the internet, access my Netzero email and web page, and the result was that most of the usage was deducted and left very little access time for the rest of the month. The only place I was able to access the site is at work and I do not need my laptop at my office. I was then informed by Netzero that I needed to go outside to be able to use their service to connect to the internet.
I called this morning, Monday, July 6, 2015 and attempted to cancel the service. The rep wanted me to keep the Norton protection that I never got and then had the nerve to ask me to use them in the future. She also informed me she would send the cancellation number to the Netzero email that I had called to cancel. I did not trust them and had seen numerous complaints all over the internet so I called my bank and put stop payments on the two withdrawals. However, I am probably too late. My next step is to withdraw all funds from my account and terminate the debit card and have a new one with a new number issued. Thus, stopping them from further access. This experience has been a nightmare and I want to do whatever I can to go after them.
I joined in January of 2013. They sent me the usb stick. The wifi speed was very slow and after I switched to a higher Gig it was slower. I emailed them and asked for a refund and to send them back the worthless USB stick.
Told them what I wanted to use it for. They said it would work perfectly. They started billing me for usage before I received their modem that I paid for. I no sooner got modem plugged it in and my usage was used up first day. Upgraded twice usage lasted about four days. Still fighting to cancel service. I wanted the free service they advertised as I had this useless modem. Free service is no longer available. I have free service for 3 months and then it's $2.95 a month. That service lasts about a half hour. Will be contacting BBB!
This has now happened to me twice so I know it's not a fluke. I called to cancel months ago and they said yes then billed me again. I had to fight like hell to get it back. Today they did the same old trick. Unethical as crap, avoid these guys like the plague, they will steal it if they have to.
I got the wireless internet. These people are a huge scam. I told them what I would be using it for. Netzero suggested the amount of data I needed, I got the device in 3 days, I used the internet no more than 3 hours when I got the email saying data was almost up for the month! To my surprise I thought it was an error so I called them up, they said I used up all my data, I then requested a refund in which they did not comply till I mentioned the BBB, even at that said they only reimburse me with the cost of the device 67.58 not the full amount I paid $130. When I sent in the device, they said they cannot refund me because the "warehouse" has not confirmed they received it, and is still giving me the runaround. Till this day I still haven't been refunded. Please beware!
Had Netzero @ Jan. 2015. Was never told they auto-bill. No way to end it other than giving them a prepaid card to charge since "that's the only way they do business"?!? Said, "Get Walmart card. Be sure to keep money on it." HUH?!? -- "Disgusted in Atlanta"
I ordered the device and paid $27.42 for connection fee and a partial $21.41 for monthly service which was 3-4 days less than a full month. They deducted some days that it took to ship the device to me. They would not refund any part of the almost $50 that I paid. They said that I didn't pay for the device and I could keep it because I might want to connect with them later. No way. It took forever to connect to the internet and I kept getting kicked off several times during the hour. Don't waste your time and money on this rip off. I did get a confirmation through email that they will not charge my card again. If they do I will go off on them.
Been a Netzero cus. for at least 10 years. Was told at time of purchase, that since they messed up my address, they would give me a special rate that would never go up. Well they just raised it. And they won't even address what they had previously promised.
I asked for help as I couldn't get my password to work or get it to reset it. Talked me into $99 service as I supposedly had all these problems with my new computer. Two days later I managed to reset my own password and whatever they were supposed to have done to fix the errors made the computer slow where it wasn't before. Talking to them did no good and I ended up having it put on my credit card in spite of my complaints. Not a happy camper.
I have just got done reading all the complaints writing on this site and I have experienced them all. I really hate to say that Netzero just love to scam us hardworking people and still getting away with it. I was sold by their low cost rates, and once I gave my card number could hear their cash register going off. Then I didn't even have any service. Had to call their tech several times and now after only 8 days of usage I ran out of time.... You got to be kidding me... I demanded a refund... Talk to a supervisor and still no luck... But I did do one better. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau... which I think everyone should. They do respond to each complaint and they do go after these scam businesses. I did ask for a full refund and for them to investigate Netzero so others can be protected.
I found out that interference from your DSL filters disrupts the signal. So I put tinfoil to cover all connectors on the incoming phone line. The Phil service guy was too stupid to know that. After a month of OK service it stopped working. Gee maybe I should reset the modem. No go. Gee is it the line so I tried a phone call, it was OK. So I stop thinking "gee." And I start thinking SOB. I call service 4 times in 2 days, no info, no explanation, they will escalate to advanced technicians. Oh goody, they haven't done that yet? 30 hours disconnected, backup dialup didn't work with any reliability. I can't trust them any more for my eBay operations and would hope that ANY internet company would have the basic ability to track and trace their signal to a specific link... And the consideration to notify their customers of service interruptions. No? Then why don't we go back to pigeons and smoke signals. Idiots.
Yes I ordered Netzero to download and web surf etc, it was 77 dollars with the box and first month. After two hours of bad connection my monthly INTERNET data was gone. I called them, they said they would fix it by giving me bonus data and went and charged my card another 20.00 dollars. Their scam artists quality, customer service sucks. Total rip off.
After a upgrade and two purchases wasn't able to even work with the internet. Customer service sucks. I wouldn't even mind paying 100$ for a plan if the crap work, but it doesn't.
Absolutely NEVER do business with this company! I signed up and paid, they sent me a 4G device, NO coverage. So they sent me a 3G device and billed me for that, NO function at all. I spent four and a half hours on the phone with tech support, which was a series of various Indians who spoke only broken English. Then I requested a refund, which I never received, but had to spend another hour on the phone, again with people who spoke almost no English who just kept asking me my name and other info over and over again. These people are outright thieves! I am now pursuing prosecution through my state attorney general's office.
The other day I signed up with Netzero and was told that I only had to pay 26 to get my internet started. So I did. He told me it was a special running and the device would be free. So I was told I needed to pay 47 now to get the internet on. So I paid the 47 and now the internet moves real slow. I mean dial-up is faster than this. Also I told them the other day I like to play games and get on YouTube and the guy told me to purchase the platinum which I guess is the plan I'm on now. Only problem with that is I can't get on YouTube or play games, not with 8 GB. The girl I talked to today explained more than the guy the other day. If I would've known I wouldn't have paid for this. I will be searching for another service after I post this. Save your money folks.
Top Ten Reasons Netzero Is The Worst Company I've Ever Used:
1. Netzero's internet service rarely works. I am a customer and the service is so bad, I started keeping a journal of disconnections and service failures. But whenever I would alert Netzero and ask them questions, they never answered them. Instead, they would send a template email stating their wireless internet service cannot go through walls, glass, etc. Can you believe that?! The purpose of wireless internet service is to go through walls, glass, etc.! Other companies have been doing it for years and continue to do it without any problems. Cellphone companies do it too. But Netzero admits that they cant do it. Yet this doesnt stop them from selling the service, even though they cant provide it.
2. On the very rare occasions that Netzero's service works for a few minutes, they limit the amount of data you can use, which is ridiculous because the other companies provide unlimited data in the same price range.
3. Netzero has a Data Usage Report that is supposed to help you keep track of your data so that you dont run out. But the report doesnt work. It will deceive you by telling you that you have plenty of data left when actually, you dont. Then you will run out and Netzero will try to get you to buy more.
4. It appears that Netzero takes data out of your account even when your internet modem isnt plugged into the wall and your computer is turned off. One night I checked my report and I had used 20% of my data. I unplugged the modem, turned off my computer and went to bed. The next day I turned my computer on and connected the modem and the report stated I had used 28%. So it seems that overnight, Netzero took away 8% of my data away while my modem was unplugged and my computer was off. I notice that this happens often; 5. Another method they use to take data away from you is when you are in the middle of a download and the internet connection fails and you have to download the file all over again, which uses twice the amount of data.
6. Another disturbing reality is when Netzero won't allow you to check your Usage Data Report at all. There have been so many times I tried to check mine, only to receive this message: There was an error processing your request. Please try again in a few moments. So I tried again. It still didnt work. So I tried again a few moments later. It still didnt work. So I spent the entire day trying. It never worked. By preventing their customers from being able to keep track of their data usage, the customer is more likely to run out of data. Then Netzero will ask them to buy more; 7. Apparently, Netzero's internet service doesnt work when it rains. Yes, you read that correctly. When it rains, I cant get on the internet.
8. Netzeros internet service is so bad that when you call their customer service line, you immediately get a recording that states: "We are currently experiencing heavy call volume. You may wish to call back during non peak hours of 9 pm - 2 am". Can you believe this?! This demonstrates 2 things: 1. Netzeros internet service is so bad that their customer service line experiences high call volume from all of their customers who cant get on the internet throughout the day. 2. Netzero expects their customers to go without internet service all day until 9 pm, then call for assistance.
9. Netzeros service didn't work for an entire weekend, so they promised to give me a credit, but never gave it to me. I was without service for a whole weekend because it was raining. When I finally reached a Netzero customer service rep, they made me troubleshoot for over an hour and 10 minutes, then finally admitted that their service doesnt work when it rains. They they promised to give me a credit, which they never did. When I inquired about it a week later, they said they werent going to give me anything. So be warned: Netzero lies.
10. Netzero refuses to hire American customer service reps. When you call, you wait on hold forever. Then you are forced to speak with someone in the Philippines, which is a complete nightmare of miscommunication and frustration. Personally, I don't think Netzero should be allowed to do business in America if they aren't going to hire American customer service reps. So many Americans need jobs. In summary: Netzero is the worst company I've ever used. I'm looking at several other companies that are more reliable, less expensive, and have American customer service reps.
I responded to a internet advertisement, Sept 2014, for 9.99 and I end up getting charged 34.95 for the device, thinking it was free. When it came by mail, it was not activated. I called them to inform them of it. They told me that I was paying for device only and that I needed to pay for first month activation… So I told them that I did not have any money for that. So I’m thinking I don't have service. NetZero went unauthorized and was charging me 42.58 from Nov. 2014 to April 2015. They never sent a email stating they were taking my money… or call me to see was still interested in getting service.
My bank kept having negative account balances and something made me go to the bank… and they highlighted NetZero as for taking 42.58 for the month April as well the past month. I called them to let them know. The only thing they claim is that it automatic bank draft… after… so they waited for money to be available and to take it behind my back. That is against the law. NetZero is only refunding me for April 2015. What kind of ** is this!!! I’m very pissed. Net Zero, you are criminals. People cancel your debit card asap! Them devils.
Just a warning to others about NetZero mobile broadband service. They're advertising like crazy on TV. I signed up, purchased the device, and set it up 2 nights ago. I connected my laptop and just tested it out - much faster than the free internet at the hotel I'm staying at right now. BUT... within a couple hours, I got an email from NetZero that I had used up my entire gigabyte of data for the month. WTF? I didn't DO anything!! I had read this same complain online from a few people who said that all their data was used just by setting up their device, but figured this was an old issue that was fixed. I should have heeded the warning. So yesterday I called to try to get my data reset and the situation corrected.
I called twice. Each time the same thing - a lecture on how data is used by someone with a difficult to understand accent. I understand data and the internet. Duh. I don't need the explanations, I did nothing to use even a small fraction of the data plan! They both read the same script that "I'm sorry. You can purchase more data or upgrade." No matter what I said, the same stock answers. I asked each time to speak with a supervisor. I was told there wasn't one available. I asked again, and was put on hold.. forever. I should have been worried when I called their number and realized there was NO OPTION FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE LISTED ON THEIR PHONE MENU! Yikes!
So I tried an email explaining my problem. I got the same response via email. A lecture about data usage, how it adds up, and the suggestion that I purchase more data or upgrade my plan. Let's see, if I used a gigabyte in 2 hours just by being connected, how many gigs would I need to purchase to last a month if I actually USED the service? The number would be staggering, not to mention the cost! Anyway... I told NetZero I was going to post warnings on social media, so here I am, warning others. I'm sure others have had positive experiences, but I also know that I'm not the only one with this particular complaint.
Oh, their current offer on television for 30 free days? It doesn't exist once you get to their site either. So, if you have NetZero and have been happy, kudos to you! If you're thinking about getting NetZero, you might want to think twice!! I was suckered in only because I travel a fair amount and some of the better hotels charge $12.95 a DAY for internet access. This should have been cheaper. Ha ha.
They really don't know that they are doing. Bad customer service... They want to take your money but all excuses to give you back your refund... Make sure to check your account people. Be careful with NetZero.
This company sucks! I had this service for 2 days and it will not connect to a smart tv! I called and they won't give me a refund! This company really needs to be looked into because they are a fraud.
My wife and I ordered the service via phone and was greeted by a poorly English speaking person. She was very hard to understand and was very quick to sell the product. She failed to explain what it was that we were purchasing, did not say anything about the amount of service we were getting, just wanted to get the sale and finish up. We agreed to the purchase with the thought that we would get unlimited usage. As I had stated she did not offer any packages just the service.
We were billed for a whole month before we even got the modem for the service. I could understand that but when we finally got the modem we used it for less than a day and a half and got a message saying we had to buy more minutes. We received very poor customer service on both the beginning of the service and end service. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT WITHOUT MAKING SURE you understand what you are getting. I feel the service was misrepresented to us and would not suggest this product to ANYONE!
The only way to cancel Netzero is to stop/cancel the credit card you gave them. I fell victim, I cancelled and was still billed just the same. Cancelled the card and never had a problem since. Sorry, but it's the only way to cancel.
Well from the first time I started with this service, there's been nothing but problems. Moreover, they try to get you to also buy their internet security/antivirus, but I didn't. Moreover, my laptop started getting many viruses.
I thought this was the best service until I accidentally charge my credit card twice and they would not refund me for the second charge. They were so rude to the fact I cancel service with them. Comcast, I won me back.
I received my wifi box weeks ago. Not being able to connect to youtube, facebook, web, etc since day one. I called and spoke with technical support. Young lady (very nice) stated that they could not troubleshoot because I already went through my gigabytes. I asked to cancel my account. She transferred me to another rep. The rep was very rude. He asked if I had already spoken to technical support. I explained the above. He stated that records did not show that I had spoken to tech support. I explained that she had transferred me to him. Very rude he stated that I would need to speak to tech. After I had explained again the above he stated that I would not get a refund. I asked him to cancel regardless of the refund. Poor on his part and poor on the fact that I paid for something I could not use.
Currently, I use Time Warner for my desktop which costs $45.00 per month. But I also pay over $50.00 for NetZero for my laptop. For the last 12 months, I have not been using my laptop, i.e., near zero usage of 8 GB NetZero stick. AKA "ZeroNet".
Awful from start to finish. First, they lie to you. Tell you amount of data you need... Only $45 per month. Lie Number One: My bill is $52 a month. Lie Number Two: Telling me they would take out the amount on the 25th of each month. Instead, they took out two at one time. I didn't know until I looked at my account. The service didn't work for the first 1 and a half months. Called and spoke with them about 4 times, every time 45 minute convo trying to trouble shoot. When it finally worked I asked for a pro rated credit. They said they would give me more data instead. Whatever. Always slow.. often doesn't connect. Always have to fiddle with the modem.
Today I can't get on. Instead I get connected straight to their site saying I need to buy more data. Even though I don't do ANYTHING except surf and eBay and online shop. They were the ones who told me that this amount of data was enough... asked me if I gamed or streamed movies. Nope. They seriously ding you every second. Asked me if I wanted to upgrade instead of buy more data... Oh? You mean pay more money when all I do is surf, and your service is 50/50 on reliability?? No thanks. And their commercial was running as I was calling (AGAIN) to complain. Saying that internet is free.... "Why pay for internet?" is their stupid slogan. Complete B.S. Will be switching ASAP.
Received the internet device but didn't get any signal. Spent one night on the phone with the tech support and he advised me to wait few hours for the device to be charged! Spent another night on the phone with two different agents to troubleshoot; no success. The device couldn't get any signal. Already spent two nights and few hours of headache and asked for refund but rejected to refund $20 activation fee! What was activated?! Regret believing the false information at the first place. Netzero sucks!
UPDATED ON 02/19/2015: They told me to send the device back and I will be refunded for it. Device is 19.99$. They sent this email to me: We have refunded your account for the cost of the returned device, minus the $35.00 restocking fee. Your total refund amount is $0. If you have any questions, please email us at http://www.netzero.com/pat. Stay away of Netzero!
I recently found out that they had been taking money off my credit card for services I was not using. When they were contacted they said it was a month service and it did not matter if I use the service or not they still was charging wth!!!! Netzero is prepaid and the internet was slow so I went with a different service. If you ever use the service make sure you cancel your account. SMH.
I order a hotspot from net zero. Told them I needed it for three tablets and a phone the plan of 50.00. It wasn't nowhere near enough. I told her I couldn't afford a higher plan. I cancel net zero. I haven't the hotspot a month and she said she it wasn't returnable. Should you know that before that sell it. I just lost money for something I can't use.
First of all they are not in the States! I should have known BETTER. Bingo…Netzero bad idea. I would not recommend under any circumstances. Departed location. Need CS translation. No difference in prices/data from your mobile hotspot.
I ordered the device online and selected my plan. I receive the device with no services. I called and was told that I didn't select a plan. So, I have to do this again, ordered the services and eight days later, I'm out of data. I had to add more funds to get more data. Now, I've paid them a total of $105 and some change and it's only been 8 days into the billing cycle. I call again to cancel account. Instead, they offered 60GB of data for free, which lasted a week. I also could not log-in to the account to view billing, even on my mobile phone I couldn't log-in...I'm out of data as of today. I called the company and cancelled the account. The rep tried to give me a lower plan, but I said "no, I will still have the same problem."
The ONLY reason why I would suggest this is because it's very super fast with a good connection on the fastest setting. With a poor connection, it's slow as snails. That said, when you change to the slow speed, it's much slower & does save a lot of data.
They CHARGE it seems out the wazoo for data. You do not want this system if you intend to use for extended periods of time OR use a lot of data like video's downloads pictures etc. 50 bucks gets you 8 GB total of data. SOMEHOW I think they charge you both directions because other services for 50 bucks was slower than their slowest connection but unlimited namely CLEAR, I changed from them because after the owner sold (whom I personally spoke with to resolve issues) their service went to the trash... but at least with them I could watch movies and surf all day on the weekends. My normal usage patterns is on the web all day long - I used up my first 8 GB in a couple days ALL the WHILE trying to be conservative.
Another issue is that it does not want to speed back up to warp speed, and stuck on lightning speed. I changed the settings because it seems that the fastest for same page views sucks much more data - I ASK WHY... was wanting to change at whim back and forth depending on the business urgency I needed the speed... it won't for some reason allow me to reset to original setting at 10mb speeds. When I did the online tests, they were at or above their advertised data rates.
I've had very few encounters with the people on phone. They spent a lot of time and answered a lot of questions and resolved issues, although a few dozen times I've had to explain to them what I was asking because not all their english is up to speed.
NetZero 5G high speed dial up is a waste and is no faster than the standard dial up package they offer. I had several issues with this product and when contacting tech support several times The issue was never resolved, and is supposedly being looked into by someone. It was a constant repeat with every call to NetZero Tech on what the issue maybe. Not one of their techs could resolve the problem. I was offered free Tech support not once but twice and free High speed service for a month. I declined the second offer for free tech support, why would I want it when they couldn't correct the issue the first time.
My account was cancelled on 1/21/2015 and my free service was to be until 2/21/2015. I do not have it when I called to inquire as to why I was told that it was never offered and they had no such record. I told the person I spoke to an Administrative Supervisor who offered me that service. He then placed me on hold, came back and of course still nothing. I have no reason to lie, but when you're paying for a product you expect to be provided with the service you paid for, and not a constant run around as to what the issues might be. They are unprofessional and have no knowledge of proper Tech issues is my guess. And I also guess that the Administrative supervisors tell you want to hear while lying to you the whole time. This company is only in it for profit and cares nothing about the customers. I would not recommend this service to anyone. BUYER BEWARE should be their logo.
I paid for 3gb. I wasn't told that watching two and yes I mean two movies on Netflix would consume the 3gb. When I called (had to locate a number whereas it doesn't cost me) I spoke to someone that is apparently from another country and was told Netflix eats up a lot of data... (poor excuse). I paid for more data 5gb and after playing one and I do mean one game on PS4, I received a message I used up my data already...
I purchased the Netzero device and service 11 1/2 months ago. My contract is over the end of this month and I will cancel this service because of how undependable it is. The service didn't work properly ever! It took several minutes to connect to the internet. I often couldn't connect to the internet at all. If I called and asked for technical support, that service was only useful once. Usually, when I said I wasn't able to connect to the internet, the technician would ask me to take the device to an open window. They often blamed the weather, but I live in the Northeast and the weather changed over the time I was trying to access the internet using this service. Therefore, it couldn't be the weather. I would never recommend anyone use Netzero.
I cancelled my service in Sept. I never used the service again. A pmt was taken out in Oct of $37.90. Then a pmt of $34.95 was taken out in Nov 2014. Then credited back after I called and complained after seeing this on my credit card statement. I thought everything was fine until I was going through my statement again in January 2015 and discovered that they tried again to take funds out of my account. I called back again and stayed on the phone with this guy for 30 mins and was told they didn't receive the device so they tried to get a pmt, and I also cancelled service early.
I told the guy like I told the one back in Nov 2014 that I never used the service after cancelling and you took 2 Pmts which 1 is for cancelling early and that's why $34.95 was credited. Also there was an email telling me to keep the device. The guy told me to go ahead and send the device back and there will not be any more pmts taken out of my account. This was on the12th of Jan 2015. Now here it is, the 16th of Jan 2015, and I'm looking at my statement again and they took a pmt again!
I called AGAIN and this rep tried to give me the same line as the others, and I had to explain all this again (I'M REALLY PEEVED NOW). She put me on a long hold after I told her I need to speak to a mgr 2 times. She came back and said there will be a credit on my account in 2-3 business days because they have the device, but in an earlier conversation she said I will get a refund when they get the device... GO FIGURE! You think this will happen? I'm waiting to see! When it does I will be cancelling that credit card! PS. I hope I put everything that happened on here! I want everyone to know that NetZero are crooks! Don't sign up for their services no matter how desperately you want internet service. Oh! AND THEIR SERVICE IS HORRIBLE! THAT'S A WHOLE OTHER STORY!
My friend ordered Net Zero through his account from Clear Internet service. He knew I had been having financial difficulty, so he felt that this internet service would be best, because it required no contract, the monthly bill would not be costly, and I would be able to access the movie channel, my Yahoo account, and perhaps be able to do my homework. I had no idea when he ordered the service for me that my box would be data driven-vs- my monthly service driven. My box only lasted 2 days.
My friend paid 70.00 dollars to get the service started. After paying the fee online, it took several days to be mailed to me, so I just had the internet from Jan 9th 2015 til Sun Jan 11, 2015. By the way, the service was stopped a little bit after midnight while my son was using my computer. This is the biggest rip-off ever. If your significant other really has your best interest at heart, he would not recommend Net Zero under no circumstances. As soon as I get off work, I will have my friend to cancel this mess! By the way, also be careful with this mess because, I tried watching a movie on Saturday morning, and I could not log on because a screen popped up and said that too many people were using the service!!! What about that...
I cancelled my service because I was charged for a new month before the equipment I paid over $70.00 for had even arrived. I have called daily since inquiring why I have yet to receive the promised email verification of my cancellation. Each time a rep tells me to "rest assured" that my service has been cancelled and I will receive an email within 24 hours. Still no email. Called again and advised I was recording the call and was again told to rest assured that my service was cancelled and I would receive an email within 24 hours. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR NETZERO - they have terrible customer service and do not keep their word about anything that they say.
I will not recommend this service to anyone. Disappointment with it. You are quick to charge for everything and not provide service. When I call for help I only talk to foreigners. They can't understand anything and get your information wrong, their is no supervisor to help resolve problems and you are always billed for everything. I requested to be sent a paper bill and looked up, they took the money from my credit card. I will never use this service or recommend it to anyone.
In December 2014, I didn't have Internet service because I lost my purse with my cards, so the bank block everything until the investigation was over with. So they sent me a new card and this month on January 2, 2015, Netzero charge me 83.00 on my new card and I didn't give the number to them. So I call and ask them how they got my new number, they tried to lie, I immediately told them I will be calling the better business Bureau on them. They are liars and they all sticks together. Then I told them to credit my money back to my account and she said they can't do that. I would have to just use the Internet service until February 6, 2015, and for me to call then and let them know I no longer want their services. Instead they charge my account this month and turn around and cancel the service right after and then told another lie saying I told them to cancel my service. They try to play mind games, be aware of Netzero, or make sure if you cancel your service with them you get a confirmation, if not they will charge you again.
I applied for net zero, when the cond came I tried to activate, I timed and calculated how much time I spent with tech support. Some didn't know how to help, one tech told me to take computer outside, I replied, "it's raining and I can't walk ten feet from my house to use". After at least six calls, finally a tech said he would mail another key, which didn't work. Again after several calls, a tech finally said it was my fault for not returning x the other usb port. I promptly mailed back, tried to activate the other, several hours and, I think the techs were as exhausted as I, the calls just kept mysterious dropping. I cancelled service, even got a confirmation, but the company said that they would only refund for usb port. It was a scam, I just wanted my money back, because my husband does banking I didn't know that they were still deducting out of my account! So I cancelled again! I can't get back hours I spent on phone with techs, everyone had a different excuse. My computer was brand-new, I just want my money back. I'll never retrieve the hours on the phone with techs and the countless dropped calls. This company has got to be shut down.
I ordered the Netzero wireless service on or about 11/2/2014. On or about 11/3/2014, I got an email stating the item had been shipped. They started billing me every month now on the 2nd of the month, not when the service started. I requested they bill me on the 3rd or later. You think they would comply? No. they decided they are going to do what they want to do, and billed my account without authorization, because it's too much work to adjust a 24-hour difference, even though I do not have service until it's paid. There has been too much petty bickering back and forth. This customer service can't be based out of USA, they're too stupid and unprofessional. I will cancel my account ASAP.
I had cancel my hotspot service, $2.99 for 200 MB, in Oct 2014, but after one month later, Netzero charged me for $7 per month for the Norton security software. They said I had agreed to have that service but I couldn't find any email confirmation. I had tried to login to my Netzero account, all I got was asking me to reset my password which I had tried numerous time to reset without success. I had cancel again today, 12/28/2014, still no email confirmation about my cancellation. Something is not right here... I will wait for few more days for an email confirmation.
"Goodby [sic] Satan Claus!" - That is the subject line from an email sent to me by NetZero after I tagged a previous unsolicited email advertisement from them as spam. After reading the reviews on this site I decided not to use NetZero. Remembering that their email was deceptive, i.e., it had screenshots of what looked to be embedded videos, and that their site didn't show a real monthly rate (only introductory "as low as" rates with an asterisk that didn't have a corresponding explanation), and the email was sent unsolicited, I found that it fit a basic criteria of spam. I guess their feelings were hurt. But “Goodby Satan Claus!” is the funniest Christmas card I've gotten this year. So thanks for that!
Had DSL with NetZero for many years. Service was much slower than promised. On speedtest it rated a D-. They couldn't and/or didn't help after many complaints. I decided to switch my e-mail addresses to another provider and they wouldn't be forwarded. They, at NetZero said I couldn't do it at this time (they were working on it). So, slowly over 6 months changed my e-mail contacts to another service. Called to finally cancel on 12/19/14 Member Services (option 4) 1 (866) 810-8092 to process cancellation of my DSL and Megamail services (on autopay). They tried to transfer me to technical support saying they 'could' my e-mail addresses transferred. I told them never mind about that.
Then they said that my e-mails would be deleted if I cancelled the Megamail, that I could use it until March 20th then it would be $11.95 a year. I "specifically" told the NetZero representative that I did NOT want any dealing with NetZero and I specifically didn't want to call back before March 20th to cancel Megamail before being changed. I did NOT want them to every use my Discover Card to charge anything again. They said OK, Conf. #**.
I then get 2 e-mails "thanking me" and "welcoming me" to purchasing the following products: NetZero HiSpeed and NetZero MegaMail (dated that same day I cancelled). The other e-mail was thanking me for continuing my NetZero membership. So, I had to call back and found out they were "still" planning to bill me for MegaMail after the "free trial" unless I cancelled before March 20th. I told them I would consider it 'fraud' if ANY further charges appeared from their company. End Story #1.
Story #2 - I called about their TV advertised Broadband service. I spoke with a rep. that promised I would receive a 'minimum' speed. When he said I had to pay $20.00 for the device and I said forget it... he said he would send it for free. Mind you, I was committing to a monthly service charge of $9.95. I got the device, tried it and it was awful, with the same 'speed test' speed of D-. I called back and the person at NetZero said they couldn't do anything. I told them that they would cancel my account or I would contact the credit card company. They said OK then but they couldn't refund the cost of the device even if I returned it. Fortunately I didn't pay for it. This is the ethics of NetZero. I can't even post this to Facebook because they made it impossible to comment about them.
I ordered the 4G NetZero Stick. I was told it was virtually "unlimited" because I explained that I am online all day, used up my access everyday during the month. I paid the $27.00 and some change and then three days later I paid $37.00 and some change. Six days later I was told I needed to pay again because I had used up my access. I canceled it at once. I was lied to and ripped off. There is no refund.
I switched over from NetZero to Comcast and when I called and let NetZero know that I was canceling my services and that I now have Comcast the person on the phone asked me why I let them know that I needed faster Internet speed for my kids that I placed in online school. He said okay and let me know my services were canceled BUT I'm still being charged! This has been since the end of August!! Don't use NetZero. They’re terrible!
I didn't understand when I ordered the box that it was data driven vs. Monthly service driven. When I ordered the service, I mentioned that I would ONLY be watching movies from Netflix. I was never told that the $39.99 monthly price would be ALL used up in 5 days. It took a LOT of yelling but I ended up getting every dime of my money back and SWITCHED to AT&T. I pay LESS money and it lasts for the ENTIRE month!
I recently ordered the NetZero stick for my desktop computer so I could continue my online classes. I wasn't informed upfront that it was a pay as you go service nor was I told about the additional cost for overages - the commercial clearly states no overage costs. I was in the middle of class and my services was suspended without any warning. I called customer services the next day and that's when I was informed my services were suspended because I went over the Megabytes for my service plan and that I would have to buy additional Megabytes for $9.99 to restore my services. I did that but my bill was due in a few days and I inquired about paying my bill early and I was informed that I couldn't because their system wasn't set up to take early payments.
I have called several times since then to speak with a manager or supervisor and wasn't allowed to. I feel that they are a rip off with poor customer services as well as false advertising. I am currently still a customer of NetZero because I can't afford anything else at the moment. I was a customer years ago but never had these problems that I am currently having. I am doing poorly in my classes due to interruption of service whenever I am running low on Megabytes which I have no knowledge of. I feel as though they should notify their customers whenever they are running low on their Megabytes and allow us to pay our bills early to avoid interrupted services.
The absolute worst order experience in customer service outside or inside ever! The core of my heat of after my last interaction about 3.5 hrs ago needs cooling. I hope this is not a hint of issues to come.
I was signing up for "home modem" for my area for 8 GB. Then I was told I had to take the MIFI mobile because they do not cover my area. So I purchased it thinking it was the same. NOPE. You get half the data. So being unhappy, I called to cancel within 4 days of purchase and ask for a refund for the MIFI mobile device. They are refusing saying they do not have a return policy. How can a business/corporation for the consumer NOT have a return policy? I work for a major manufacturing company in the legal department and this is unheard of for what is supposed to be a reputable company. This is wrong. I was told I would receive a call from someone within 2 business days about the device and IF I will be allowed to get a refund. REALLY!?!?! This is terrible business.
Am going through a now lengthy divorce. In its initial stages felt an internet service without a two-year commitment could work as when the final decree is handed down I would then move to a new location. Decided on Net Zero as in the past they had a good thing in the early 2000's with their cd-rom/sign-up monthly commitment. As if it were a pay-as-you-go system. And for a dial-up at the time, it actually worked. So this time fourteen years later, why not?
Well, let me tell you why I would NEVER do this again. First off, Net Zero is out-sourced in the Philippines. Probably with conectys.com as they are cheap. Whatever the group, they give themselves American-sounding names like Jared and Kathy instead of Severo or Rosario, actual local first names. Quick to offer an apology because, really, what am I going to do, fly over there and give them a piece of my mind? From there, I have been able to learn the most efficient trouble-shooting protocol which is not listed on the tip sheet included with their Hot Spot device. Running on a cell signal within close range, it should work as I live in a densely-populated area. It tries at best. And so far in five months I have had to exchange this device three times. When asking for a return shipping label the CSR's freeze up over the phone. Quickly, English becomes a foreign language to them. One female rep just kept moaning in confusion over the concept and tried to respond as if she knew what the request was for, missing the mark over and over. Embarrassing. Even more embarrassing is that these CSR's are trained with good phone manners. They really are trying to help and no doubt are aware of Net Zero's fall-short-of-the-mark determination.
Frustrating at best. Well, thanks to many, many phone calls to Manila I can troubleshoot on my own very quickly however it takes up a more than a fair amount of my time along with a new sense of patience I have developed only leading me to think I could and SHOULD move to a high-speed contract somewhere else. And promptly. If I had known the marital split would head into overtime ahead of time I wouldn't have the need to write this.
Have lost count of the daily and sometimes HOURLY moments Net Zero arbitrarily bumps me off, leaving me stranded and going through the dreaded routine of reconnecting. This ascribes deeply to Albert Einstein's definition of insane. Look it up and you won't doubt it a second. My cell phone buries Net Zero's performance leaving the shovel in the dirt. With Net Zero you get just that ... ZERO... ZILCH... NADA... NOTHING.
We cancelled service in July 2014 after finding a much better provider. I should have been more diligent about checking our online banking statements but when we weren't charged in August, I assumed everything was taken care of. While checking the statement this morning, the first item pending was Net Zero. So I checked the previous months and they have been taking out monthly payments for the past four months! When I called to complain and ask to be reimbursed, I was told that I had agreed to continue to use them as a "back-up". This is entirely false. Why would we want to use Net Zero as a back up when their service was so painfully slow and we changed to high speed link. We were elated to finally be rid of their service, then find out we were still being charged. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
I called to order based on the commercial that advertised the hot spot. They convinced me that I needed the USB device instead. I was charged for the device, although it failed to operate. It is supposed to be plug and play. Upon calling tech support, they said that they would have to send a new device as the first could have been faulty. The new device failed to work as well. In the meantime, I am still being charged for the device as well as three monthly service charges. They assured me that refunds or credits would occur after services were up and running. When customer support was unable to help me get the second device to operate after having to call five times in one day and take three hours to attempt to troubleshoot, the rep. told me that they had done all that was possible to troubleshoot. I reasoned that It may be due to my hardware. So, it was best for me to just send all back and get refunded for unused service as well as the two devices. Their opinion was that I should keep attempting with more devices. Now, I know why.
When I called the cancellation department, she informed me that I can only be credited for the devices which I have to pay postage to return. She said that they bill for availability of service and not usage. To which I replied, if I am unable to access the service, I do not have availability. So, be forewarned. They try to convince you to keep troubleshooting so that they can continue to charge you a monthly service fee even if you have not established service. This is a supreme lack of integrity! I do not even know if this is legal.
I am being acutely fair in this review even though I cannot believe the unfair, inhuman, degrading, repugnant and reprehensible service that I have endured at the hands of Net Zero Service. I am now the proud owner of a Clear Clear Stick after returning my Net Zero stick after I tried to get that stick to work for over 6 months. Please bear in mind that I had to cancel a credit card in order to have Net Zero stop billing me even though I have never received competent service of any kind at any time. As of this morning I have my net Zero stick re-activated and it promptly died on me inside of 10 minutes.
I am now in the process of trying to have my money refunded again, canceling my service, again and am on the verge of filing a law suit if in fact the rest of the aggrieved out there wish to do so. I have been practicing law for over 25 years and I have never met a firm that has such incompetent help that they are borderline criminal if not dyed in the wool (pun intended) thieving sheep-herders from some long lost province of Tibet (or the vicinity). You are lucky if you speak to anyone that can mouth the English language without ending a sentence with sahib or sorry, both of which are platitudes as they are only after your kopecks, rials, or dinar.
If I think it would do any good I would hire a local witch doctor or mystic to place a curse on this company as begging, pleading, persuading or/and any legal ethical tactic falls on deaf ears as long as they have your money. This company will promise you anything and as long as you are willing to wait on hold for endless hours while they tend to their flocks as they sure aren’t interested in solving your problems so I am assuming they are shearing their sheep or swilling their pigs. Unfortunately, I do have a JUNO account that has been nothing but sound and stable for 15 years. I would like to be there when this firm goes out of business however, mediocrity tends to endure ad infinitum. If you are interested in proceeding legally against this firm please feel free to drop me an e-mail at ** and make me aware of your concerns. If they had a conscience they would refund all of our money and the cost of our time dealing with their incompetence, BUT, then they would be out of business, anyway.
I received the device for wifi and had nothing but issues with it from the moment I attempted to use. I called technical support numerous times in a two day span and they insisted I go through their troubleshooting steps over and over again. I requested numerous times from day one to cancel the service and each time they refused unless I go through their troubleshooting steps. I asked to speak to a supervisor on many different phone conversations and twice with the mention and insistence on my part to speak with a supervisor they hung up on me. When I called back they stated it wasn't their policy to hang up on customers so their answer was "we must have had a bad connection." This occurred twice. The connection was wonderful until I mentioned supervisor then there became a bad connection.
After a week of fighting with their wifi service to work I again spent two hours on the phone just to cancel service. Asked for a supervisor and the connection would go bad and be lost. I was told it was not their policy to return money, when you can clearly find a 30 day money back guarantee on their website. I finally after two hours told them I would be contacting the BBB and voila I got a supervisor on the phone and part of my monthly fee back and will get the money back for the device once I return it. They say there is a prepaid shipping label online but all I find when I put in the website they gave me for that is more unhappy customers. How can a business survive when run like this? I guess it survives from customers who don't push for their money back so NetZero is pretty much getting money from no service. Ronald T. Burr needs to look into these policies and try and correct some of the actions. You will not have a business if you consistently have unhappy consumers.
First off, shame on me for not knowing better than to ask whether the internet data was unlimited. I was blown away when I was denied internet access after only having internet service with Netzero for 4 days. When I called to cancel, I was offered a little more data and asked to call in and cancel one day before my billing date. That did not sit right with me. Data was used up the next day. I just got off the phone with the 4th representative tonight (the 1st one spoke too low, the 2nd had a bad attitude, the 3rd acted as if he couldn't hear me, the 4th was tolerable). I asked to receive an email confirming cancellation and I was informed that nothing in the system stated any cancellation. He said it as if that would relieve me. I was mortified. He then says he will check again and magically it appeared in the system this time. I have repeatedly asked for that confirmation via email and I told him that I've read all of the awful reviews online. I want proof my account is canceled. The representative would cut me off, "Yes ma'am, you will get it"..
I then requested a refund on the device since it is not compatible with any other carrier/service. I was told that no.. for many ridiculous reasons. I asked to speak to a manager. "We are not going anywhere with this." He asked me to hold. I waited a good 5 minutes and he comes back apologizing that a manager is not available but that the supervisor ok'd the refund. I was given a return address and told to call back in 5-7 business days after sending it back to follow up. I asked for his name, he gave it up but he stated he was not authorized to give me his supervisor's name. I asked whether I would be charged a "restocking fee". He cut me off (again) and said "No, that will be waived." I was only informed about that AFTER I asked. Very fishy. I was given a reference number. Based on all the reviews I've read, I feel like something is definitely up their sleeves. Help!? Suggestions? What would you do or expect?
First off I have had their service for 6 days when I called to order. She said if I pay 19.95 a month I can do all my basic stuff like read emails and read my book. Well after I paid 76 dollars and change she said that was for everything. Come to find out they charged my bank again 2 days later for I guess the monthly service which was 20.62 which I guess the lady lied because that was not all. Then I got this Norton 360 which by time I got done dealing with these people for the pin number Netzero was supposed to give me when I signed up. I kept getting told 24 hours to get my pin which was another lie. It took them 3 days to give to me then when I call to get the pin they want to charge my bank card 1.95 a minute for technical support which, who does that?
Never in my life have I ever heard a business charging for their support to help you with their crappy service. Now it's been 6 days and now they're telling me I have to buy more data. They don't let you get unlimited anything because their so called 19.95 a month is actually only 2 hours you get to go online. So basically I just wasted a hundred dollars on 2 hours of internet which half was trying to get their crappy service to work and the other hour I got to read half a book I have online.
Now I say people should boycott this company until they're out of business. Not only that but call this so called founder of this rip off company and get him to issue all these people he's ripped off full refunds, which they lie to you there because in the beginning when I ordered this stuff the lady said if I am not happy make sure I return it within the 30 days for a full refund. Well guess what? The so called manager they have, that I don't think he even was said they have no such policy at all that when you buy there crap you are stuck with it. Well why would you want it if they're going to keep ripping you off, if you send it back you should get a refund!!!!!! SO PLEASE DO NOT GO THROUGH NETZERO THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. Please just say no and if anyone hears or knows of any class action against this Netzero please post it. I will be more than happy to just get this company to shut down to save the rest of the hard working people not to get ripped off like I did!!!
I got it and it was not compatible with my computer. I tried to call the awful customer service department located in (sigh) the Philippines. I wanted to return it and they said no but I could keep device. I talked to several people there. I talked to a 'manager' who told me he would transfer me to someone who could let me return the device. I got another woman who flatly denied that I could return it. I asked to be transferred to a US customer service department and they told me no. Just awful.
Signed with Netzero for better than a month and used service 5 times in 5 different places. The service would connect and after a while would disconnect. I called Netzero and they want to charge me a termination fee for a piece of hardware that does not work.
It is my hope that a class action suit is brought against Netzero. I fully intend to get a full refund, but one should not have to go through so much aggravation to get what is rightfully and legally theirs. Obviously, Netzero will not refund anything without a good fight. I checked their Better Business Bureau rating. They are rated A+. The rating is based solely on their resolution of complaints. They had resolved over 200 complaints. So don't look to the BBB as a source of verifying trustworthiness of a business. DO, by all means, file a complaint with them if you are unable to get unearned charges dropped.
I was unable to get internet service with use of the hotspot. After 5 days of being played (speaking with multiple technicians and repeating the same steps over and over, being transferred to "corporate" and having the person I was transferred to telling me I must have the wrong number, being told that my iPad and computer don't work) I called to get a full refund for the service and device. The person I first spoke with said that my case had been escalated and that their senior technician had tried to contact me. It turned out they had the wrong phone number, or so she said. She transferred me to a senior technician who wasn't a senior technician. He said he had notes from the senior technician.
After trying a few things, at least twice, he put me on hold to talk to the senior technician for more steps. I finally asked to speak directly with the senior technician and was told that the senior technicians don't have phones! He said they only correspond through email. I blew. I yelled that was odd since I had been told they had been trying to contact me. He said that they were unable to resolve my problem at that time, but the senior technician told him what my options are. Either I could return the device and try another one or I could wait a few days while they try to come up with a solution. I asked what else. Since he said those were my only options, I informed him that they were to give me a full refund.
I was transferred. The person I spoke with said she saw I had already tried to cancel service so she was going to transfer me to free tech support. I yelled, "Don't you dare!" so she transferred me to yet another person to handle my cancellation. That one told me that he couldn't give me any refund because they are valid charges. I said they were not and yes he can give me a full refund. Ultimately, I had to resort to threatening to call corporate the next day and to suing the company before they agreed to drop all charges, including shipping. I followed the call with a call to my credit card company to let them know that I was contesting the charges if they weren't in fact dropped.
Didn't give me what I ordered and still took money from my car. They said they would put back 27.95 but took out money instead.
I got Netzero in April, it never really worked very well and I decided that I could get more data that actually works through my phone for the same price. I cancelled in June which was a hassle, I had to repeat to the person on the phone that I just wanted to cancel and that I didn't want to try troubleshooting before he would finally agree to cancel my service. I took a hit on the device that I was not able to return, but it was worth it to just be done with them. Now after 3 months of not charging me and me assuming my account was cancelled and closed, they have started charging me a $2.95 monthly fee for a use as you go plan that I didn't want and didn't sign up for or agree to pay for and they are using my card that was on file from when I had active coverage. I have not contacted them yet but I am not expecting it to be a fun call. I will update after call.
I just called the customer service thirty minutes ago. Customer service numbers are all based in the Philippines. I was told no customer service to address my complain that is USA base. I received the broadband device two days ago. It's not working at all. I called yesterday and the other day to address the same problem and it was not resolved. I followed all the instructions they told me how to make it work and it just don't give me any connections at all. So I called the customer service today to have my service cancelled and to return the device. The customer service said that you cannot return the product. And I was sooo mad that when I check my credit card, they already billed me and took out from my credit card for the first monthly bill. So, I called the customer service again today and asked them why I got billed already and I did not even use the device. And I did not sign up for automatic payment and I did not authorized them to be using my card. Netzero are totally scammers, I will never recommend to anyone and be careful with your credit card charges, because they also charge you for calling the customer service. This is a fact and consumers, don't use Netzero. You think you are saving money, it will cost you more.
So I got the $19.95 Plan, didn't even use it for a day. They said I overuse my data. In order to continue I have to add more money to my plan. Like hell, I told them "you should have post that in your ad, stating that is not unlimited." So if you're reading this, don't waste your money on Netzero. They're completely garbage.
I ordered the service and it took several attempts to get it up and running. Then it seem to run out of data quickly even though I don't stream, download or watch videos. I upgraded my account from the "bait" rate of $19.99 to the "switch" rate of $34.99 and still didn't seem to have enough data to get me through the month. I told the representative I was cancelling my service and they wanted to charge me an additional $75.00 for a "cancellation" fee! I was told the device I paid $24.99 for was in fact $99.95 and that I was given a "discount" because I agreed to a year's service.
In an email to me, the company said "1 Year Commitment was a fair agreement during sign-up as we have given you the device for 75% off. Normally, the Hotspot costs $99.95 (excluding shipping) but we gave it for 75% off when you called to sign up on a fair deal to keep service on a Year's Commitment. We're sending this e-mail to confirm that your account ** is cancelled. The Early Termination Fee which is the 75% device cost was waived upon cancellation as a special consideration."
I sent them the original email and asked them to show me where it stated the Hotspot costs $99.95 and where I decision to cancel was subject to a "Early Termination Fee". I returned the device (via registered mail), cancelled the debit card the service was linked to and was never charged another dime.
I called these people and they told me I could get service in my area! Bought the device to plug into laptop. Everytime I try to sign on, it connects, then disconnects or says "no service". I again called to cancel, and they are going to charge me a termination fee for something they sold me that does not work for me. Be careful if you go with net zero, they do not stand behind their service commitment. I say they are losers as far as service and customer care.
My husband purchased Netzero so that we could have internet while on vacation. $76. We arrived, hooked up the internet. Soon after, the net shut down and took us to a pay page. To continue we needed to pay more??? Confused, we just paid a small fee to another provider, which was wonderful. Arriving home, my husband called to complain and they offered nothing.
I ordered my NetZero equipment on July 1st 2014. Today is September 3rd 2014. As of today's date I have not once been able to access the Internet via my NetZero account. I paid $70 for the equipment, the first modem it came was not compatible. I just spoke to customer "No Service" and actually informed the representative that if he continues to work for this company after today, he should be absolutely shamed of himself. If you sign up for Netzero after reading my post you are a glutton for punishment and don't require internet because you will not get any. Their name should be Net Negative.
When I foolishly set-up service with these LOSERS, I was on the rebound if you will. I rent a room & when the lady across the hall set-up U-Verse my basic ATT/DSL was lost. Within 48 hours, we came to an agreement that allowed me to "share" her signal. I immediately called NetZero to cancel. Not only did they "fail" to cancel my order, they sent out a "hot-spot" device anyway that was partially opened & defective as well. Also, they kept charging my credit card the $19.95/month access fee. Ultimately, NetZero did cancel my service but REFUSED to credit my account for the $81.49 defective "hot-spot" device or the $19.95 monthly fee that they snuck in. Now, my bank that issued the card has "gone-to-bat" on my behalf. Outcome still yet to be decided.
I ordered the portable hotspot when the device came in the mail after paying $25. It never worked. I kept calling customer service. They kept having me play with the device telling me to charge it for a full 24 hours before trying to use it. Then they finally after 13 times of calling said they would send out a new device. I let the device charge for another 24 hours. That device never worked either. I kept calling customer service and complaining about the issue. They kept putting me off for the next day. The next day I was able to finally after a lot of times asking for a supervisor I got a hold of a supervisor which then I told them I do not want the service no more. They said they were going to issue my $20 back and for me to mail the devices back, they would issue me my $25 as well and they would cancel my service with no cancellation fee at all.
They've issued my $1999 back. I mailed the devices which I never got the $25 back and today a little over a month later I receive an email of a bill in the amount of $113 and some change that they tried to go into my account and take for my services that I don't have nor want. My service was canceled July 16. This is August 19 and they're still trying to bill me for a service that I have not had.
Upon speaking with customer service tonight, the lady was rude, disrespectful and still wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor. I asked her, "Why is there such a problem for me to speak to the supervisor?" She said because I don't need to speak with them, that she's handling my case and if I mail the boxes back I will get my $25 back and I'm arguing with her that I did mail - that it's not my fault they're trying to say that they didn't get it. Then I asked her, "Why are you still going to my account trying to take money?" She said, "No, we are not" and I told her I have the email to prove it and she's basically telling me I'm a liar. I would recommend zero to no one because that is what you get with their service - zero. You get no service through Internet nor customer service. You get actually what their name says - zero.
I was led to believe that the lower price monthly service would be enough for me. BAH, I used up the monthly charge in two days, then spent another $50 in just two weeks. I could have gotten UNLIMITED internet from a legitimate company for only $35 a month. Which I have now. I cancelled NET ZERO two months ago, and they KEEP charging their monthly service fees to my bank debit card! I call to cancel again, and ask why wasn't it cancelled last month as promised? OH, the phone was disconnected, so the cancellation did not go through. I was livid. Because they took the money out of my account again, illegally. One of my checks bounced, then I had a $28.00 charge from my bank for an overdraft fee. When I asked the rep at Net Zero to reimburse me that bank fee, he was rude! Said that they do not reimburse for that, I need to talk to my bank! Then another rep at Net Zero told me they were going to refund the money into my account, so then the money would be back in my bank like two weeks after the fact, so then ask my Bank to refund the overdraft fee! I asked her what country she was from because that is not how banks work in this country. I wanted the phone number for Net Zero legal department and their corporate office.
Guess what? The Reps cannot give out those telephone numbers. I asked for mailing addresses...Guess what? the reps can't give out those addresses either. I finally said "I don't think you are even a legitimate company, your corporate offices don't even have a mailing address, and your legal department doesn't have a phone number!" I said I would complain to the FCC. Guess what? Then they wanted to talk to me about it the next day! OMG do not ever give them your debit card number, they will keep on charging you after you cancel. I have the cancellation number from last month that they gave me when I cancelled again. This month they charged me AGAIN! Their excuse was that the phone call must have been disconnected before the cancellation went all the way through. I have spent more than TWO hours this month trying to get it through their thick skulls that I no longer use their service and it was supposed to be cancelled last month. You give them your debit card, and you will NEVER be able to cancel.
I still haven't figured out how to get NetZero to stop billing me after I cancel with them. I call and cancel and they bill me the next month. It's ridiculous! I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau.
If you ever think about getting Netzero think again. Netzero suck bad. My children and I have been using it for 11 months not using more than 2.5 to 3 gigs a day. I buy 5 extra gigs and they are gone in one day. We do practically the same things every day. Now how is that? That is not the only thing. Now they are telling me they are going to add a 2.50 charge to my already set payment of 49.95 for them making their connection better. I didn't agree to this charge.
So they better not take it out of my account. Do not use Netzero, I feel like they are scam artist. Just posted this on Facebook and want to let everyone here to read this too. Thank you.
I was surprised that they billed me of something that I wasn't aware of! The sales reps on the phone were inconsistent with their information! You just don't know who to believe! I told the supervisor to review to pull out the voice recorder!
Ordered Netzero Internet service after sales person assured me several times that home address was in and surrounded by the strongest 4G available. After waiting a couple of months and finally receiving the "best" device yesterday, spent entire day try to get a connection. It was determined that there was only intermittent service and their tech supervisor suggested I return device for full refund. Customer service claims supervisor said no.
I thought I was getting a great deal on internet service... I was wrong. I signed up for the $35 plan and they took that money out. Okay that's fine. But then they took out another $35 and I called them asking why. They said it was for first month's usage. The device hadn't even arrived yet! So they refunded that money. It first arrived last Saturday on 7/19/14 and I used it for ONE DAY just to check the internet connection. I didn't use it at all on Sunday, 7/20/14, and today on Monday, 7/21/14 when I tried to use it, it wouldn't let me log in. I called customer service and they told me that all of my data had been used up. With only about 15 minutes of usage?? So I asked to be refunded my other $35 because I would be sending their device back ASAP. They told me that there wasn't a refund policy. So after being on hold with about 3 tech support people, they finally said they would refund it. I do not recommend this horrible internet service to anyone!
Well our hotspot broke and we had to buy one off the internet. So we thought it was cheaper if we go for a new internet services. Then we see a NetZero commercial and we thought it would be good. We bought a modem and pay for the activation fee of $81. Now here's the kicker. We set it up and made a account and they were saying we had to pay $31.64 to connect to the internet. We spent all day speaking to customer service discussing why wasn't the extra charge explain when we were buying the plan so they answer by waiving the cost of $31.61 so they activated the modem (Mind you we just got it). That night my son was playing his games all night.
The next morning, I plan to watch the movie so I got on my laptop and went to Google. Suddenly a pop-up from NetZero said I use all my 6 gb and I had to upgrade my plan. Well, wait a minute, I didn't even know that we had a data limit. It was never explained when I was talking to them about their service. I ask them what plan would be good for my family and this is what customer told me - "The $34.95 would be the perfect deal with the modem," but now of today we can use for 4 hours a day or less. Next month, I plan on switching to another internet service that does not have false advertisements.
The woman on the phone was downright RUDE, IGNORANT and NOT AT ALL COOPERATIVE. I just wanted to CANCEL my account because after buying a new computer and emailing Tech Support I was informed their service would not work on Windows 8 without obtaining a new stick or hot spot device. This woman argued with me that I needed to talk to Tech Support. After two emails I know what the problem is. Then she insisted on upgrading my service. Mine is at the top already. Then she refused to cancelling offering me free service. What good is your service NET ZERO when it currently will not run on my new computer. Then she told me to wait and kept me on HOLD. She cancelled it and I was thinking of maybe switching back in the future, but with that kind of attitude, NO WAY!!
Before I order it, my question was: Is there any data usage limits. On this the answers was; yes, with the lowest price of $10. So I choose next with (ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS WITH UNLIMITED DATA) for $20. The speed was so slow.
Working from home, I need to upload small files frequently. Presently it takes 5-6 min. for Net Zero to download a 5 MB secure file. It takes 10 min to upload a 1.9 KB secured file.
I ordered netzero on 06/18/14 and $45.00 for the modem and shipping and handling so on 06/20/14 I received the modern. I received the modem and set it up, nothing works. So I call netzero, tell them I was having issues and issues so they credited my account for $46.62 when I cancelled my service because I wasn't getting any results. They took back the 46.62 and charged me another 30.00. They kept forcing me to go to tech support and I asked them for a replacement modem. They refused, kept making me go to tech support until I had to curse out the operator to make him to understand I wasn't getting anywhere with tech support.
My advice, don't go to netzero. They are truly horrendous, this is the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my entire life. They'll never receive my business, they deserve to be closed down completely.
BIG RED FLAG!!!!!! "NET ZERO".....OOOOOOOOOO=COMPANY. Long story short, My UB stick went to another state when I first ordered it and was told it was delivered, just not to my address, of course! Back east to another state. 3 days later, it was dropped at my door. I have had nothing but dropped and interrupted service throughout my entire service with Net Zero. Their service department told me it could be my computer... WHAT? I was told I should go outside or sit next to a window, avoid the trees in the area, move my computer to another location in my home... WHY SHOULD I NEED TO DO THAT? MY COMPUTER SITS IN FRONT OF A WINDOW OF MY SECOND FLOOR HOME, MY HOUSE IS MOSTLY GLASS!!!! WHAT KIND OF JOKE IS THAT! Excuse me!
After numerous attempts and speaking with their customer service department, nothing they said or did resolved any of these issues. Took 10 minutes just to connect to the internet first of all, which was so dreadful. I hated to turn my computer on at all. Once on, the UBstick never worked properly. Flashed and interrupted my work documents every 3-5 min. Lost signals. LOST WORK!.. Saying I wasn't connected to the internet. NO ZERO! Never again... Smart, I used a prepaid card to activate service with a limited amount applied. Not another Dime to your company for horrible, so-called "service"!!!!!
We will have Netzeros Hotspot for a week tomorrow. The first day, it worked great. Then, I decided to check the usage. My son used it for about 15 minutes, and I had used it a little over a half hour. It was already at 27% of our allowed usage!!!!!! And we had used it under an hour!!!! Didn't use it again until Wed. I kept checking the usage about every 15 minutes. Between Wed. and Thurs. we used it over 8 hours and it only went up 10%. How is this possible after we supposedly used 27% in less than an hour? Today, what a headache. We continuously had the solid green light meaning there was no connection. THREE phone calls and it still only works when it randomly wants to. You pay TOO much and get junk. And you get weaseled into a contract after they promote NO contracts. And when you talk to a Tech, it's like pulling teeth to get them to answer. I literately had to repeat myself FIVE times before he would respond. DON'T waste your money, time and patience on this POS!!!!!!!!!
They said "NO CONTRACT. NO COMMITMENT. NO WORRIES". When I went more deep, their advertisement is 75% off on device with 1 Year Contract. Govt. should banned that kind of liars.
They are horrible people, they encourage their employees to lie bait and switch, those junk modems are meant to break just to discourage the new customers into canceling, forfeiting their down payment. Netzero figures they make more profit this way than providing satisfactory long term service... This is my opinion... They treat their honest employees as bad as their customers... Horrible, greedy upper management...
WARNING!!! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL BE SORRY. I installed the modem they sent me and tried to use the internet, but was appalled at how awfully slow and internet was. 3 hours later, they shut off the internet service and sent me an email claiming that I had used up my data and would need to pay and upgrade, or wait until the next billing cycle to start before I could use the internet again. I was told by the rep who signed me up that I would have unlimited internet and data. They refused to give out their address so I could return the modem. In addition, they will not issue a refund!!!!
Okay, so long story short - we ordered the NetZero stick thinking my mom could use it for her Samsung tablet. Of course that was not the case. So I called and was told we had to get the hotspot device in which we did - works perfectly. The issue is that when I called to get the return address to return the stick device for a refund - the rep told me that they do not issue refunds. Boy did I blow a fuse. I told her how is that possible to not offer refunds, especially for a device we can't even use!!! She put me on hold two times just to come back and tell me the same thing.
Nowhere does it say that they do not offer refunds on their devices and if it is on their site - it's hidden somewhere in a very small fonts. So yes - I am out of $70 and stuck with a device we can't even use. Just know I will be closely monitoring my account because I don't trust this company. One more thing, when I called to cancel the account for the NetZero stick, she tried desperately to get me to keep the account open for $2.97 a month. What!!! Why would I want to keep this account open when I don't need it for NOTHING! All I can say is please be careful. If you ask my opinion, please go with a more reputable company to save yourself the aggravation and more money.
I just moved to this address. I had a clear wireless service that does not service this area. So I went and order netzero wireless broadcast advertise as no contract on tv. So I went and paid upfront for the device and the shipping and handling. I received my device and being that they advertise no contract so I made no service payment since I order the device on March 7, 2014. So this month, April 3, 2014 I called to pay as you go. And I was told that I had to pay March and April since the service was active in March. My question is, what service was active because I had no internet service in the month of March. Inclusive, netzero email me that my service was suspended for non payment of $41.00 they could not draw from my card without my authorization. What service? I never had one to use yet they want to bill me $41.00 for internet service. I cancelled. Now they send me an email of billing, again that I can continue to use the service until the end of the billing. What service. What billing? I never had service.
When speaking to your people first call, not able to understand English! Second was mislead about the MG's. Was mailed the broadband unit long before the CD. Customer Service was slow and told to call the tech support, much worse to speak to. Waited a long time for each person. Waited and was being charged for MBs I never used? The total service was the worst I ever had. I would never advise anyone to buy your services or equipment!
I was charged 2 different times in one month for the same service. They took 68.00 out of my account and they don't want to put half of my money back...... Netzero is a scam and I wouldn't recommend anyone to get it at all, not even for a month..... Netzero is a scam.
I was checking on the Walmart MasterCard debit card and noticed that Netzero had charged us for Oct 16, 2013, Dec. 2, 2013 and Jan. 27, 2014. I called them up and asked why we were being charged when we were not using their service. My brother in law did have service at one time but he cancelled it a long time ago. The agent told me that they had charged us because the service had been reactivated on October 15, 2013. We are only three and none of us ever reactivated service on this date. She told me that it was done online and that is not true because I and my brother in law are the only ones that use the computer as my husband does not know anything about using one and is not interested.
Then she told me that it was done under **. I went and tried to log in but I didn't know password so when I tried to get a new password, I put in the information required which was my username and zip code, and it came out that one or more fields were wrong. I know it was not the zip code. Then I checked on the account and got the message that because the user was unsubscribed no charges were being made. Why were no charges made for November 2013, February 2014 and March 2014? I want to know how we can get the charges put back to my husband's Walmart MasterCard debit card. We did not reactivate the account online at all.
My card used at Target was replaced. Got a robo call saying your card was denied at NetZero. I have never used them. Called them back to report the fraud. They could have cared less. Had to ask to have the fraud reported. After 5 minutes, finally told me the charge shows as United Online not NetZero. Rude & unhelpful. Not a customer and never will be. Apparently completely uninterested in fraud and who/how their service is used.
I recently ordered a Netzero 4G stick for my internet tablet over the internet. When I got my device it didn't fit my tablet so I called customer service to see if I could return it or get a refund, maybe even a exchange but Netzero said that they don't give refunds or do exchanges so the lady asked me for my card number. Then the next thing I remembered was that I was being charged for my first month of service when the device that I ORDERED does not even work with my tablet so I asked the lady what about my first month free trial and she said and I repeat THERE IS NO FREE TRIAL FOR THIS OFFER. I told her but that's not what I read on the internet for Netzero 30-day trial. I mean is this a joke, why are they playing games. I think I'm going to look for another internet service that has their customers' best interest at heart and not trying to rip them off. Good luck to you people out there who choose to be mistreated and getting stuck with something you can't use.
I ordered a device on 01/28 and during the order process and on the receipt it clearly states 3 business days to receive your device. When my device did not arrive Friday I called and explained I would be leaving on a business trip Sunday and needed the device to travel with me. I was asked to please give it until Monday for the device to arrive. Monday, no device and another long time on the phone being told there is nothing they can do, please wait until Tuesday. Finally received tracking number Tuesday however it was not able to track my shipment. No device Tuesday however I do have a business to run and not time to sit on hold again.
Wednesday I receive an email stating the device has been delivered. I call home since I am away on business and NO there has been NO device delivered. When I check the tracking number again it showed the device being delivered to a zip code nowhere near my home. Yes I called again, they stated well they are showing the device as delivered. Well I am your customer and I am telling you it is not at my home. I said cancel the account. We will have to refer you to a higher manager. Please allow 2 business days for them to return the call. Friday the device is on my doorstep. No door bell, no nothing and people were home.
HMM? YES I call again, I want to return the device, well now that you have the device if you cancel you will be charged an early termination FEE. WHAT? Again, I was transferred to a manager that said she would have a HIGHER manager call me back in 2 business days. I never received the call from the last one? Today Wednesday, note the 3 business after the timeline they set for themselves, I get a call while I am in a public office building and Amanda leaves me a message stating she is so sorry for my inconvenience and she will be crediting my account for 1GB of data for my inconvenience. ARE YOU KIDDING. I was told by my credit card company I needed an RMA number to return the device. Well it is being shipped back without an RMA and with a signature requirement. Pay a little extra and deal with a reputable company!
Net Zero is a SCAM! They advertise "No Contracts" but when you call up to get a "free 30-day trial" they make you sign up for a year, otherwise you pay $50.00 for a "hotspot" device that doesn't give you the online service they promised you. (No bars!) When you call to cancel, they pass you to the next guy, & refuse to take back the useless device & give you a refund. So, you end up paying $20 for shipping + $50 for a useless device that doesn't work! (Net Zero equals Zero Internet access & the company should be shut down & put out of business!) Don't ever sign up with them!
I contacted Netzero on 1/21/14 and sign up for the platinum account which is $49.95 per month. I had to pay $19.95 for shipping plus $42.75 for the first month because I was receiving the device in the next three days. I received it on that Thursday I charge it and connected my devices. Well my device were always losing the signal, had to go in multiple times to my WiFi to reconnect so on Saturday I called customer service and let them know that I was having problem staying connected which was weird because the Netzero signal was good. It always read connected which was weird if I was always losing connection on my devices. They were trying to tell me that my tablet, iPad and phones may be defective, really?
Anyway they didn't solve anything. They said to call back if it keep happening so I called back today, 1/30/14, and told them I was still having connection problem and now they say I used up all my data already. I said, "Really, I was barely connected." When I do get connected, it's disconnect right away so how I used all my data in seven days... Now I have to pay $99.99 to cancel. This is a ripoff.
I was left on hold also and it was frustrating. They kept me on hold and I was not happy. I am trying to get out of this. They took money that wasn't in my account. They got their money. I am not paying anymore, they can terminate me and I will never do business with them again and will tell others about their poor customer service reps that passed the buck when customers are upset. You should not be in the business if you treated consumers like numbers.
Trying to save money and ended up spending more. Internet never worked, kept calling and after 14 days still didn't have internet. Currently in process of trying to obtain return address (3 days) to send equipment back and not be charged. Very frustrating situation.
I have had Netzero dial up for years because I live in a rural part of Louisiana. I happened to notice that the 3G Broad band was now available in my area so I contacted Netzero to change to the Broadband. The representative checked the map and assured me that the service was available in my area. I purchased the hotspot and paid the extra monthly fee and shipping fee of 19.95. When I get it, it won't work in my area and so I emailed Netzero and they tell me it isn't available in my area yet but that I could use it while I travel. So meanwhile, I will have to pay additional monthly fee to keep it on with the rare chance of using it. I want my money back and I want everyone to know of the false advertising on the Netzero site. Don't be stupid enough to fall for it.
I called and cancelled service 10/14/13. I was billed in 11/16/13. Called again to cancel. I was billed again 12/16/13 and 1/16/14. Called again and emailed customer support. Will dispute through my bank. I was a NetZero customer since 2003. The DSL connection worked okay but the modem broke three times and had to be replaced. Customer service is terrible.
I am writing in hopes to help someone out there to make the SAME MISTAKE I made by signing up NETZERO internet. First, let me say when I called and got some information about this so called great price fast internet... I was sucked in... I knew it was toooo good to be true. The man rep that answered the phone was very pleasant but also lied to get me to believe that I was getting a great deal by purchasing the 19.99 a month plan. He initially asked me what do I use the internet for and I explained to him that I had an iPad, a laptop and a PlayStation that all needed wireless internet. He assured me that the 19.99 a month plan would be good for me. He also asked me for my address where I would be getting the service and he stated that there is 4g internet in my area and I would have fast, reliable internet service.
Well here's really the truth... I have poor bad slow internet speed and I am only able to connect 2 devices even after I was told I could connect up to 5 devices....... WTH. This company tricked the hell out of me. It's even more frustrating when calling the 1-800 # for some of assistance. Their answers are scripted!!!!!! They are fake and they act like they are genuinely sorry. To make the long story short, I have had the service for 4 days not even a week... I called to cancel this service because I have had it with them. The rep stated she would give me a bonus of 1,000 gb and I clearly denied that offer. She then informed me that I was locked into a contract and in order to cancel this service, I would have to pay 99.95 to cancel this contract.... Hell no was my answer to that.
I then told her that I wanted to speak to a manager. Oh guess what, I was put on hold for 20 minutes before the rep came back to me and said that the supervisor would contact me in 1-2 days about this issue..... I am definitely contacting the BBB about these scammers. From what I see, they have scammed so many people with their fake promises. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM: LIARS, SCAMMERS.
I called and cancelled my account sometime in the spring of last year. I was looking at my credit card statement and found that I was still being billed. I called them today, 1/7/2014. They are saying that I cancelled it back in September 2013. I was given no reason why they did not complete the cancellation. I was able to cancel the service. THEN, they tried to give me a *free* service for one month (internet protection) and then it would be billed. I kept telling them no. There was also problems with the representatives accent. It was thick and he was difficult to understand.
I lost my Verizon foisted service due to snow storm and wanted to sign up with NetZero. Their small connection device is weird because you have to be near windows to get a strong signal. My brother and I decided that it is not worth the aggravation to go through so I will just cancel the service. They should try and improve their data shield.
I called Net Zero explaining to them I was looking to save money. The sales representative assured me that for $34.99 a month I would be receiving a HotSpot w/ 8 GB of service. I agreed. I received the device on a Friday 1/3/14 and on Saturday 1/4/14 I received a message stating that I had to purchase more data in order to go back on the internet, which was shocking to say the least. I have called three times so far to get the address to return their device and cancel the service and they are avoiding giving me the address and trying to charge me a cancellation fee. I am very upset by this whole ordeal and intend to contact a lawyer but I just want to make the public aware of the scam that Net Zero is pulling.
I wanted to try internet service by NetZero company. I called them to inquire their service. They told me that first I needed to buy the modern. I told them that I already had one. They said, "You need to have a modern from our company in order to activate it, otherwise it will not work." I agree with their terms and I order a NetZero modern, and I paid the first month of service. I just have less than 15 days with the service when it stopped working. I called them. They say that I need to buy more data to get internet service in my computer. I really do not remember if I bought more data or not. What I am sure that I called them to cancel my service. This was a prepaid service. My mistake was that I made my first payment with my debit card. Once I canceled my NetZero service, I activated another company server. But NetZero continued taking out of my bank account the monthly payment by several months although I had canceled my account with them. I went to my banker as soon as I noticed and they blocked this payment. I called NetZero several times and they argued that they never received a cancellation call, but they never get a signed form of my consent to withdraw my monthly payment as well.
I tried to cancel in November because they charged me $100.00, and I only had the device for less than a month. I called and thought I cancelled in November but was billed twice since November. I called Netzero today and got nothing but the run around. I have been told, "You called to cancel in November which we show but you didn't say you wanted to cancel but asked why are you being charged $100.00." What? I told this girl several times I want to cancel. Back and forth about why I am being charged a service I cancelled in November. I don't care at this point. Cancel. I was screaming at this point. They are really a pain to deal with and I will not ever come back to this disorganized, horrible customer service company again!
I called NetZero because I needed internet service for the Theological Seminary Classes that I was beginning the next week. I explained to the customer service person that all of my classes are webcam classes and I would need at least 30 hours of webcam service a month. The customer service person told me that they were having a sales promotion at the time and I could get what I needed for $25.00 a month. In fact, he said that this would give me 40 hours of webcam service a month, so I signed up and gave my credit card info.
The next morning I was telling a friend about it and he told me that it didn't sound right and to call their tech department and double check. I called about 9am (it wasn't even 24 hours later) and told the tech guy my conversation with the customer service person. I was told by their tech rep that the customer service person was wrong, that even with their most expensive package I would only be able to use 8 hours a month for webcam. I cancelled the service but was told that they do not give refunds (I had paid the $25.00 and $19+ for shipping and handling) and they had already charged my account.
After repeatedly asking to speak to a manager, they finally let me speak to someone who said that he was a manager. I explained everything to him and was told to return the unopened package to them at my expense as soon as I received it, and they would refund the $25.00 but not the shipping and handling. I received the package a few days later and took it straight to the post office and sent it back.
About a week later, I received an email stating that I would not receive anything back because there was a $35.00 'restocking' fee. This was bad enough but to make matters worst, they went into my checking account and withdrew an ADDITIONAL $10.00 to make up the $35.00. This is the worst experience that I have ever had with a company. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH NETZERO. The customer service person lied to me to get the sale. I had to insist on speaking to a manager, and then the manager lied. And I am sure it is illegal to go into my account without my okay to take more money for a restocking fee.
Don't make the same mistake I made! I wanted to save some money, so I decided to find a cheaper internet provider. Big mistake. The hot spot would not stay connected and would go through an endless cycle of trying to connect, shutting down, rebooting, trying to connect... I returned one bad device, only to get another bad device in the mail. I have called no less than seven times - either talking with technical support or customer support. I want to cancel because it doesn't work. But because the device was free, they are now saying that I will have to pay $100 to cancel. I told them I will not pay because they have provided me with a device that does not work. Save yourself time, frustration and money, and find a true internet provider that will not give you the run-around or send you defective devices.
OK, as mentioned yesterday to the questionable customer service, your moron "HIGH" signed for the returned device in Duncan, SC on the 25th. Since the issue was not fixed yesterday, I am reporting a card fraud and a charge back to Visa and Wells Fargo so I will get my money back plus you will get penalized if you do not handle this by this morning. Feel free to try and sic your lawyers on me for telling the truth and I will get a payday from you for the damages. You have really pulled my chain and there is a limited timeframe for Netzero to correct their blunders. I filed a rip-off report today and will be filing one every day for the next year (364 to go). Below is a summary:
These days, companies are aggressively trying to strong-arm against a previously ignored issue - Adverse reviews. However, Netzero has earned every drub and slap I have added here. They are free to sue in this litigious society, but I warn them, everything here is backed up with public record, government record, and single party consent recordings so any lawsuit will result in a payday for me if they are so reckless as to try. Netzero ads enticed me to sign up for their broadband service. Their map shows service on the edge of the Fairfax County Parkway in Virginia. No sooner did I sign up that a technical co-worker told me Netzero did not work here but Cricket does. I tried to call them to confirm and was met with idiocracy and poor customer service. I tried to cancel my order, but Netzero refused.
There is an email to my military account which is irrefutable on this issue. I eventually received the broadband device and in fact on the top floor (and all subsequent floors), at all corners and sides of the building (windows, balconies, and the building parking lot), there was no signal. I called up and again ran the gauntlet of idiocracy and stupidity in cancelling my account. I was informed that I would not receive a refund if the device was not received by October 10th, 2013. Yesterday, I received a call from Netzero saying again that they had not received the device. I am cautious and log each call because they say customer service charges are $1.99 per minute. I took valuable time out of my busy day for a valueless company.
Netzero was asking ME for the tracking number, when the shipping label came from their website! I read them the Riot Act and informed them that a person named High had signed for the item at their facility in South Carolina on the 25th of September and gave them until close of Business yesterday to apologize and credit my account for all charges. I informed them that if they did not, I would be leveling a fraud charge against them and that is exactly what is happening today. I trust Visa will properly process the charge back, and Netzero will not just have lost a customer, but has recruited a Herald that will proclaim Netzero's inadequacies until they go out of business. If you are thinking about Netzero, you have been warned!
NetZero sent me an email about free Norton antivirus; I didn't respond. They sent me one CD and charged me money. I didn't open CD because I had MS Security Essential. One month later I found out that my credit card was charged $71 totally. I expect just $21.95 for DSL Speed Saver, 1.5 Mbps (but it runs just half of what they said). I have felt sick because of too much harassment one after another.
I signed up for the internet program, the one they advertise, first year free. Such a lie, they get your card info, for the equipment, but start to charge you the next month for the monthly service of $34.95. They know the bank will not reimburse nor stop paying them monthly. Do not sign up for this program. Plus they don't cover most areas. VERY, VERY POOR SERVICE. Big mistake to go with NetZero. The only thing you get is ZERO.
I paid about $44.00 for modem and delivery service. I used the internet for 2 days and was shocked to find my service was halted. I called NetZero and to my surprise I had used up my gigabyte something. I spent 44 dollars for 2 days of internet service. I specifically told the worker that I used the service to watch movies. NetZero has the right name because you get ZERO worth of service.
This is the worst internet stuff. I never used that it doesn't get signal. I wanted to return it first day but you said you don't accept return. I waste my money just a piece of junk. Worst of worst service and deal ever.
I called Netzero and was on the phone with them for over an hour with the manager Rain making sure everything was clear about their wireless modem. They promised me coverage in my area and other areas I asked about and promised if it did not work then I could get a refund and return the equipment. I received the equipment 2 days late (August 29th) and they tried to charge me for the supposedly free month and charged for the 2 days I did not have the device. I called customer service complaining that the device did not give me wireless internet in my home and when I went to San Francisco (places the promised it would work) also that I was not informed of being charged for the first month. September 2nd, I told them I wanted to return the device and that I had been told I would get a refund.
Well, they claim they have no record of the manager telling me I would get a refund, so I told them to listen to the recorded call, and they told me they stop recording when managers get on the call. So I told them we can listen to my recorded call because as I let them know I was recording too. After that, they told me they would refund the monthly charge and that I had until the 25th of September to decide if I want to keep the service. I called back on the 4th after trying to see if the modem was working to find out I had reached a data limit. I called them and said I no longer wanted their service. They told me I had to pay a $99 cancellation fee. Smh -_- Why am I supposed to pay for something that doesn't work, that never worked and especially after I was told I would be refunded and had until a certain date to decide if I like the service? I just want to send the modem back and be done with this company. It should not be this difficult. PLEASE DO NOT GET THEIR SERVICE!!! I beg you!!!
Under the guise of being a legitimate internet service provider, this company epitomizes everything unethical, dishonest, untrustworthy and fraudulent. Do not let its slick looking website fool you. Look for a contact business address--there isn't one. If you try calling the "customer support" number, take note of how there is no menu item in their phone options for directly reaching a "customer service" rep..
Here's how they treated a new customer: After paying for their service, they sent me a device stick that they confirmed would work where I live. After arriving two days late, I connected it, and it DID NOT work where I live. I called Netzero to inform them their device was not working as promised. After eventually navigating through their phone maze, I spoke to a "Customer Service" rep., who then transferred me to a "Technical Support" staffer who suggested I stand by a window or go outside to get internet reception from their device. I think not.
They said to send back the device, with no offer of a refund. When I objected, they said that they had no refund policy. Because they had already charged my credit card, they had my money. So after much complaining and persistence I finally got them to issue a partial refund (or so I thought), crediting my account for the shipping costs--the remainder to be credited to my account when they received their device stick back. And I had to foot the cost for shipping it back to them---which, not surprisingly, was only $3.65 via USPS--far from the inflated $19.95 they charged for shipping.
In good faith, but now in hindsight, naively, I sent it back. They promptly sent me the following email: "This email confirms we have received your returned Netzero 4G Stick. We have refunded your account for the cost of the returned device, minus the $35.00 restocking fee. Your total refund amount is $0." This was my first experience signing up with an internet service provider. Upon reflection, I should have listened to my gut when I initially made my inquiry into signing-up with Netzero--especially when I asked the sales rep. about how well their service handled streaming video from Netflix. He replied that he was not familiar with Netflix.. Please, for your own sake, DO NOT SIGN UP WITH NETZERO! There is good reason that ZERO is in its name.
I was tired of the slow speed I was getting with Verizon DSL and I didn't want to pay $35 a month. I thought I was being smart by signing up with NetZero for their $20/month 4G mobile plan. I had to pay $50 for the mobile hotspot, but I thought that would be cool in case I wanted to take it on vacation with me. I thought 2GB would be enough data for me in the month, but the manual for the hotspot device does not mention that you need to turn the device OFF when not in use. I lost 1GB while I was at work not even using my internet at home!
I complained to CS and I was told the device has a "heartbeat" and no data was reimbursed to me. These CS reps do not care about satisfying customers. I have had to upgrade my data plan twice this month (so now I'm paying $50/month). What a mistake I made. Now I see, 2 weeks after I signed up, they are offering a FREE device if you sign up for a 1-year agreement. I called to tell the company I wanted my $50 back and I would be willing to sign up for the 1-year. I was told they do not have a "refund policy" and there was no way I would get that money back. I asked if the higher ups in the company would prefer getting $100 out of me total and I would cancel at the end of the first month or have me sign an agreement and get hundreds of dollars from me. They didn't care. I was told I could sign up AGAIN and get ANOTHER hotspot for free! Oh yes, that solves my problem, having TWO mobile hot spot devices that I don't want. I hope this company fails in an epic way.
This company is such a rip off. The charges for less than one month were outrageous. I spent over $100.00 just to use the internet for web browsing. How is that possible? Don't buy into the hype. This company is ridiculous. If you have to have a Wi-Fi or hotspot, Clear isn’t nearly as bad. But I finally had Charter install a Wi-Fi modem and router, now I am completely satisfied, and when I need a Wi-Fi hotspot I'll use Clear.
Netzero charged my credit card $20.00, $45.00 and then $99.95 in one month. I hadn't even received their internet box and when I did, it was a hotspot box and I called them and told them I needed it for my computer with the Ethernet jack so I would be sending it back and I would like my credit back on card. They refused to give me the return address and my refund. The is a scam company. Do not get these people. They don't have customer service skills and they lie about product.
After seeing the ad on TV for a FREE 12-month internet services, I hesitated initially. Knowing nothing is free, I decided to inquire. I spoke with a lady customer service representative (I have her name) who advised me, when I asked, that there were different packages of service available. When I asked about 12-month FREE, she said, "You have to purchase one of our packages." So I said, "Then where does the FREE come into place per the ad?” Her answer was vague and unanswered with gibberish. The representative then went on to describe the different package costs. At this time, I was beginning to feel a bit uncomfortable; however, I was in sort of a desperate need for internet services at that particular moment due to job-search activities.
After a long discussion with her, I decided on and gave her $70.00 from my checking account (debit). Never once did the representative MENTION or SAY that my service was in increments of per bits or so many hours, and I would then have to call and purchase more time. Trust me when I tell you, "I WOULD NEVER AGREE TO THOSE TERMS!" Why should I? It does not benefit an adult. That’s something for my twelve year old nephew. As a consumer, I feel this company has been given carte blanche to confuse and use consumers. I filed a complaint with the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU who advised there’s nothing they could do. The Better Business Bureau stated the company would have to understand and refund my money for misleading sales approach. When I received the pop-up request on the screen, right in the middle of my research, asking me to contact NetZero customer service, I did.
The man representative advised me I needed to give further money for continued use of internet service. I told him I just paid $70.00 today to use the internet. The male representative went on to explain the TRUTH about what I had purchased, and that I could not get my money back. He offered and gave me a few more hours of usage due to my being misled regarding what I had paid for. I told him this was still unacceptable. This is when I contacted the Better Business Bureau. To this day, my money has not been refunded and to this day, I feel totally RIPPED OFF! I think we, as consumers, should file a Class-Action Suit against this business for tricking hard working consumers and stealing their money.
I had seen a commercial on TV and called to get the specifics. They informed me that for $20 a month, I could get internet at a speed of 2 gigs. The box arrived a few days after I signed up. I was really excited to see it work! The next day, I came home to no internet. It was only used about 30 minutes so I called NetZero. They explained that the 2 Gig was an amount of internet, not the speed and that the unit must be powered off after use and because it was left with power on, it used up all my time in one night while I slept. I explained that I was not properly informed of this product and do not want it. They were happy to cancel for $100 more. It's only 7 days since I called and they had already taken $50.00. The unit worked one night; now they want $100. It's more to cancel. So NetZero will give you one day of internet for $150. Are you ready to sign up yet? I am poor - God help us stop these criminals from robbing poor people. God bless.
NetZero is not even a USA company. The customer service and whole company is based in INDIA! No wonder they are screwing Americans & then they wonder why the majority of Americans are racists. My fiance and I purchased their 4G hotspot. We received it on June 24, 2013 and the device did not work! It kept saying it was searching for service. We called the "tech support" and spoke with a "manager" who we could barely understand. He straight up told us to get in our car and drive around to see if the connection would work. Ha ha!! Seriously? Then when we said we wanted to cancel, he stated that we would have to pay the $99.95 early termination fee!
My fiance went off on this **!!! He also stated there was nothing he could do for us! What?? Are you kidding me? We had the device for 4 days and it did not even work. So I check my bank statement as I do every day and I see a charge from NetZero for $30.29. I immediately called and asked to speak to higher management in the customer service department. After speaking to a lady named Patti for an hour, she finally agreed to refund the $30.29 and waive the early termination fee as long as we send the device back to California (where the products are sent from). Not only did I agree but I made her email me what we have agreed on so if anything different was to happen, I would have her words in writing.
Everyone, please read these reviews! You can get your money back but you have to fight for it!!!!! Do not get NetZero! They are a ripoff company looking to screw over Americans as if the government doesn't do a good enough job at that already!!!
I ordered NetZero based on the advertisement - no contract, no commitment. I ordered the $19.95 for 2000MB on 6.12.13. Once I submitted my credit card information on 6.12.13, they sent a confirmation of payment with a 12-month commitment. I immediately called to cancel and they stated I could not cancel because of the “no charge” for the device and the $19.95 per month for the 2000MB! I could cancel for an early termination fee of $100.
I received the device on 6.15.13. I retrieved the device from the PO Box on 6.17.13 and to date, the device has no connection in the home, even with the device in the window or on the lanai. In order to have service, I have to stand outside in the backyard. To date, I have paid $19.95 for the device shipment and $17.95 for no service - the pro-rated amount. It is a scam and when I asked where they were located, the customer service people were all in the Philippines, outsourcing from America. To date, there is no service in the house. The only connection of service of the device is in the back yard.
I have tried to cancel membership 8 times and every time, they send me an email saying it's canceled, but I keep getting billed. I have stopped payment 4 times. I guess I will have to change banks.
I've joined Netzero for over three years. I had dial-up first, then I moved on to DSL. I used to have Time Warner Cable as my internet provider. I went to Netzero DSL because it was cheap. However, I realized the $5-10 doesn't make a difference. I'm planning to switch back to TWC at the end of the month. I move every few months because of my job. Compared to Netzero and TWC, Netzero doesn't get good coverage and they're mostly offline. I filed a complaint and they haven't gotten back to me. Apparently, their "senior representatives" were supposed to call me as soon as they can. I waited over a week. I called again and they said the same. It was a horrible experience. I can't wait to go back.
I started out trying dial-up... Too slow. They raised the plan for HSI and raised my bill to $30.00. My PC loses connection. It loads a page slow and after clicking a link, it is slow. Do I time how slow? No. I called Tech Support and now they will charge $1.95/min for support. I have called tech support in the past complaining of the slow loading. He had me disconnect the modem.. wait.. reconnect the modem for a fresh loading of the site (instead of connecting from the old connection settings). Slow, slow, slow. In contract.
I called in January to cancel after losing the device. They are still taking money out of my account. There has been no activity since that time. I just by chance looked at my bank account and realized that they had taken two payments in May and still took monies out in February and March.
I wanted to buy my sister the lowest cost internet service and as Zero.com is advertising heavily in Michigan, I went to their online site. Wow, for only $9.95 a month I could get her two months’ Platinum service and the first month is free! No time limit stated, so what could I lose at less than $5 a month? Only everything! As they required either the routing number (not on my life!) or bank card, I became suspicious and phoned them to offer a check by mail prior to service. The salesman with an Indian accent answered the phone. He happily told me I could get the service for $14.95 for one year. When I advised him his information conflicted greatly with their site's offer, he fast talked an explanation then agreed. Next I told him about the first month free and he agreed to that. If I told him Golden Gate Bridge was included, I'm sure that would have been also included.
Then I told him I wanted to prepay by check and received an adamant no, as they automatically charge my bank account or credit card on the 13th of every month. I thanked him and said goodbye. Next I read 20 of the 279 complaints on your site and found equal numbers on Ripoff and Scam Reports sites. If you want hassle, poor service and $90 cancellation fees that include (such a deal) restocking fees and automatic monthly deductions that continue up to a year after; oh and if you read their terms, you have to agree to their changing your computer settings whenever Netzero wants, then surely sign up and call yourself a lollipop. FYI, I'm sure Netzero.com would never do the following that some internet sites do, which is selling your bank account and credit information. I found 7 different such sites charging my 87-year-old friend with Alzheimer's, who bought hair product from one.
The hair site's fine print said they'd pre-ship $200 of product "knowing she'd love the free 30-day trial that only costs $7.95 for shipping and handling." If you make just one such purchase from an online site, check to see if you also receive four or five charges under $2 each from beauty and vacation sites you've never heard of before. These minor hits are a prelude to $19.95 monthly charges that those who never check their statements can occur for years until you notice them. Unless you're a lollipop, only deal with reputable sites like Amazon, Sears, Barnes & Noble, and the like. I hope this helps someone before their money is taken again and again. PS: In Netzero's terms, you've agreed to not enter a class action suit (I wonder why?); agreed they'll not issue refunds on billings; agreed to arbitration and small claim courts under their conditions. The good news is if you win, they won't charge you their attorney fees. I wonder if they have a handful of attorneys on retainer.
On Feb. 20, I signed up for a free 30-day trial and after the free period, it's $6.95 a month. On Feb. 26, I called to cancel, as I found service with my old provider for $5.95 a month. The man on the phone offered 90 days on top of the remaining 30 and said after the free trial period, it would cost only $5.45 a month. On March 17, I find out that NetZero billed my credit card $6.95 on Feb. 22. (my bank statement arrived on March 11, but I returned home from vacation late the night of the 17th). On March 18, I called NetZero, got the runaround, was left on hold for over an hour, transferred and got disconnected. I called back and was put on hold for 35 minutes listening to the most annoying tune so I hung up and nothing was resolved.
On March 20, I called NetZero again, more department transfers. Finally, a credit will be made to my account within 30 days and no further billing during the free trial period. On March 22, $6.95 is billed to my account. On April 10, I became aware of the charge on March 22, as I received my bank statement. I called NetZero, talked to billing and was assured my $6.95 would be credited to my account within 30 days with no further billing. I asked to cancel, was transferred to another department (they make you verify who you are every single time they transfer you, and they do it multiple times) and I cancelled service once and for all!
On April 22, the $6.95 billed in Feb. is credited to my account. (I guess in June, I'll get my March charge reimbursed?) On April 29, $25 was taken from my account by NetZero. On May 10, my bank statement arrives and I am now aware of the NetZero charge. I immediately called NetZero, was put on hold for 22 minutes, got an answer, verified who I am, got transferred, verified who I am, asked to speak to a supervisor, got transferred, was not required to verify who I am, then I was told it will be sent up to management for review and that I will hear from them within 48 hours with their decision. I can only guess what they will tell me: "It's a standard cancellation fee for service contract membership termination," maybe for a free trial membership?
I remember NetZero back when people were still using dial-up. I was hoping to see that they have improved, but apparently, they have not. Back then, you could easily sign up, but if you ever wanted to cancel you were SOL. If they still have these kinds of poor business practices and broken promises (which based on the reviews they seem to do), then we've got to ask ourselves why this company isn't being fined, and why the executives are not facing jail-time. Send them to Folsom Prison.
Rip-off Warning: NetZero Broadband is a rip-off! They stated that I would have unlimited usage, and if I was unhappy that they would return my money. I don't have unlimited usage and they refuse to return my money! The customer service representative has finally transferred me to a supervisor. I will get part of my money back in 24-28 hours. The other part I will get in 5-7 business days after they receive their equipment, but I have to pay for the shipping.
I was expecting to get the trial packet which I never received, and this company has been charging my account $17.60 each month. After contacting the customer service department, they decided they would refund only $35.80 and the other balance of $35.80 they would keep to cover their costs. I asked the lady if she investigated and saw any usage on this account and she responded with, "There was no usage," so why are you keeping my money? I want my entire refund asap!
NetZero, Juno, Outsourcing Kings, whatever you want to call them, they are the worst company to get internet services from. Stay away! If you have an issue, they will blame all of your lines and equipment, but never themselves. When their router goes down as it constantly does, they tell me it's an issue with my PC. That's impossible as I could try my PC, my other PC, my Mac, my iPad and iPhone and still have the same issue. They also have a listening problem. They want you to listen to them, but far be it for them to let you get through expressing a complete sentence. They have the rudest reps ever.
I went back to AT&T after many long and frustrating conversations with NetZero. Let's just say that you get what you pay for, and what might seem like a bargain is definitely not worth the ulcers you'll get later on from them. They have bad equipment, bad connections, bad communication, bad representatives, bad supervisors and managers, all finished off with a big layer of rude.
I promise to be fair with my comments. I can't get a message written or a site opened without it freezing up. My notes/letters look like they have been written by a third grader due to this site freezing up while I'm writing. It's obvious to me what's going on. As before, when they start getting ads flashing and moving around the edges of the screen, there isn't enough gigs to work my computer. My computer is a fairly new computer. I would really like to know who has lost their jobs due to poor reviews in this company. I sure hope that it isn't the techs who are losing their jobs. At this point I would be going after the CEO. You start eliminating the higher ups, we might get results. I wouldn't advertise with this company if my life depended on it.
There is no customer service, no live body that will ever talk with you and there really is no service, especially if you travel. The supposed service is only in selected cities and the plans are really a rip off where to stay with your current service. It will only be frustration and a mess to clean up at your expense. Just save yourself more grief and money, as it will cost you more than it can provide.
I had Netzero 3 years ago and cancelled the subscription in April 2010 when my wife and I separated and they now have sent it to collections stating I owe them $39.80. I have sent the letter to the company disputing in which someone signed for it on 1/14/2013 and cannot tell if this issue has been resolved and have no way of reaching anyone.
I failed to load new minutes on my phone. They didn’t give any reminders. I got a top-up card. Really poor service. All I wanted was to top up my card. Instead, I was grilled for 15 minutes about my account. Customer service was an Asian guy (hard to understand). Between that and their system always down like when I use the navigator for work, I don’t recommend them. I never had problems with pay-as-you-go phones from the big companies; they never let me get stranded during New Year’s night and the night before. Next day, service started back just fine (lot better than it did when I was lost). I’m not gonna use their services. Cheap isn’t all good.
We have had NetZero internet service for 3 years and all of a sudden in October, the internet connection stopped working. I have called and tried to disconnect the internet service on several occasions and have been sent from department to department, while we are still being charged via credit card automatically, despite the fact that they've said our service was disconnected. Along with that, they have refused to send a confirmation email to a personal email account. Not only am I highly disappointed with the fact that they are simply giving me the run-around about cancelling, trying to upgrade the internet service, I am also enraged by the fact that they continue withdrawing the amount every month when I had stated several times that I wanted to cancel the account. Not only did they tell me that the chargers were from "previous overdraft charges" but that I apparently had two accounts, both of which were withdrawn from my online account, despite the fact that I had only one account set up to do so. NetZero was a decent internet source until it came time to cancel the account and now it seems impossible to do so. I do not recommend the service due to these reasons.
I recently purchased the 4G broadband and I hadn't even been on the thing for an hour. No downloading or anything like that, and all of a sudden, I get a message that I used up all my data and need to purchase more. I'm like what the heck. I called Netzero, and of course, I'm speaking to someone in a foreign country. They told me that I need to turn off any running programs and my antivirus as it uses data. Really, Netzero? Why would I turn off antivirus? So my computer can get corrupted? I asked for a refund and was told the device is mine and they don't offer refunds. As I understood it, the policy says 30 days guarantee. They are full of ** and I will blast them whenever I get the chance.
I signed up for 4g broadband service, and from the beginning, it was spotty at best. On YouTube, I couldn't access videos without interruption. And they said they had great coverage in Atlanta, but they don't. I had to sit outside at my mother's home in order to get access to the internet. When you tell them about their terrible service, their response is all of our charges are valid and they are not crediting any of the money back to anyone. If everyone reports them to the Consumer Affairs Division of your respective Attorney General's office, perhaps something can be done about this company. NetZero is taking people's money and providing horrible service in exchange. I plan to blast throughout social media that NetZero is guilty of deceptive advertising and horrible service and that they don't care at all about their customers. They just want to sign you up and take your money.
I terminated my landline and tried to cancel NetZero premium service three times. The third time I felt suspicious and put a block on my credit card. Sure enough, I get an email saying that I owe $11.95 for NZ email and my credit card is not good. I absolutely made it clear that I did not want any more NetZero service, but the agent went into a prefab speech about NZ email. I said no, even dropping the F-Bomb to underscore my meaning. It appears that NZ is using foreign speakers who pretend that they are not understanding customers’ intent to terminate. For you people who keep getting billed, just tell your credit card to stop payment. For paper customers, switch to credit card payment and then put a stop on. It'll cost you $12, but you will no longer be a slave to their pretend-ignorance about termination.
I am a flight attendant and got the Netzero hotspot to cover spotty coverage of hotels and airports. This worked fine as long as I remained domestic. As I went to international flying, I no longer find that paying for a monthly service to be of value. I called customer service to ask for a downgrade to the "free" service only, to be informed that it was not possible to go down, only up. Upon reading their fine print, it does say that after 12 months, the free service will terminate unless you move into a paying account and once you have a paid plan, you cannot go backwards.
The customer rep informed me that I could always sign up again with the same device, but when I asked could I open a new account and get the free service, he was quick to state no. It seems a little too shoddy of a system that only lets you walk up the pricing ladder, but not adjust back down as a situation warrants. I now have a perfectly good hotspot device from Netzero that will now be available on eBay! Too bad it was a good service otherwise.
Oh, my God! Netzero has gone to the dogs. At first, I thought that it was my computer and I was ready to take it in to have it looked at. However, I used my corporate computer which has a larger server to see if the same thing would happen and sure enough, it did. After writing a very lengthy reply (25 minutes) to a message that I received, all of a sudden I get a reply from the server telling me that the internet service is down. It is the same crap that I would receive from my home through my regular computer. I’ve had this service for a few years and have been reasonably happy with the service from Netzero. But when it starts to interfere with my time, which is very valuable to me, it’s time for me to switch to another service.
I also see that Netzero is famous for not allowing people to get out of their service and people have to block them from their bank accounts, which eventually leads to Netzero continuing in adding up service that goes on the customer’s credit report. So, how do we end our service with Netzero if we wish to do so? Do we have grounds for lawsuit, especially with so many complaints against the company?
I ordered a NetZero mobile hotspot and received it two days ago. I charged up the device and turned it on, but the hotspot was unable to lock onto a signal and connect to the net. I live in Arlington, so I drove through Washington and into downtown Silver Spring, MD. At no point was I able to connect. I contacted NetZero after this run and requested they replace the obviously defective device. I got back a reply that my address wasn't covered, but someplace nearby was. I requested they give me an address where I could connect from or replace the device. No response.
I just got off the phone (after an hour on hold and another 15 minutes in the middle of the call) with NetZero customer service for the fourth time trying to cancel my account with them. I believe the first attempt was made in 2007 and it is now 2012. I started saving the reference numbers after the second failed attempt. They had no record of my last cancellation request with the number, and obviously no record of the two prior. I estimate that they have collected from me in the vicinity of $400 in membership fees after multiple requests to close my account.
I ordered a stick connection device from Netzero along with their free monthly service. Including tax and shipping/handling cost, the stick was $79. I installed the software and could not get a connection on my laptop PC. I took the laptop outside of my house and got a very poor connection, slower than dial-up. I called and requested to return the device and was told in no uncertain terms that cancellation is not allowed per the terms which I accepted. When I argued that I could not get a connection in my house, they informed me to go outside and use it.
I tried to argue that the only way I could find out if I could get the proper connection was to purchase the device. I was once again told that there is no cancellation per the terms of the agreement. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told it wouldn't change things as a supervisor would tell me the same thing. I can get a clear connection in my house which is only 3G and Netzero advertises a 4G connection. No way. I would be more than happy to join in a class action against them for misleading advertising and forcing me to purchase an item that I cannot use. My guess is they are inflating their user numbers in order to mislead advertisers, other customers, and investors. Perhaps, the SEC and others should look into their business practices.
A week ago, I ordered the hotspot with free 200mb a month internet. I got it yesterday. Today, 8-16-12, I ordered upgrade for $34.99. The last thing the rep. told me (not before he signed me) is that the next bill will be on 9-10-12 (not prorated). I told him that I am not agreeing to it. He told me that he can't change it. I asked to speak to the supervisor and she said the same thing. I asked to cancel and she told me that the free internet will be canceled as well. I paid $119.95 for the hotspot that will not be functional.
I have been a member with Netzero for many years. I switched from dial-up to hi-speed service and finally canceled because hi-speed was just as slow as dial-up. I called Netzero to let them know that I no longer needed or wanted their ISP service on July 24, 2012. Now, it is August 16, 2012 and I have not gotten an email confirmation letter of my request for cancellation. I had even called them again yesterday to remind them of such and to let them know that my husband's credit card was charged for August service without his authorization.
The Netzero said that they don't pro-rate the charges when a person cancel service after the billing date has passed, even if the request for cancellation is the day after the billing cycle. Unfair! My cancellation was six days after billing cycle. I am sure most Netzero members using its service don't know about this little clique. Not that it would matter a lot because getting untied from Netzero is like trying to get out of an occult! It seems like Consumers Affairs is much help with this critical issue. How can we start a class action lawsuit against Netzero for violating our rights? I am open to be contacted by an attorney if it's a free telephone consultation only.
Over two years ago (a lot over), I got Hughes Net Internet and cancelled NetZero. They argued that I still need it as back up and I said, "No, I didn't," and to "please discontinue my service." I unplugged the phone line and never thought a thing about it but they kept on taking out a monthly fee. I called back and told them to cancel again. They were still taking it out. After about a year, my husband said they were still taking it out so he got mad and called but they are still taking it out! We stupidly have been paying a service for years that we haven't used. Is there any way of getting our money back or just get them to stop taking it out, short of hiring a lawyer?
I had cancelled in April after realizing that I like the service I got from Clear. I called them three days after I signed up and requested to cancel. It was obvious that I was talking to someone from India, who barely understood what I was saying. Then she continued to say I could still have free service and in three months, be charged. I told her no, I want nothing. There was no place to fill out paperwork for canceling, so I had to hope my word was good enough. The account I had used was closed, but my bank still honored the request. So I was charged a fee from a service I had already cancelled and never used, and an overdraft charge. The bank is honoring it, but refuses to see that there is no official way to cancel the service.
I rarely raise my voice, but found it happening in the several phone calls it took (and numerous emails) to discontinue my Netzero service. It can only be done over the phone and the people that you speak with can barely speak English and certainly don't understand it. I made it clear that I wanted to discontinue the paid monthly service. Instead, I was signed up for an additional service. Email responses from Netzero only verified the bogus additional service, essentially maintaining that I had ordered them. Even after several phone calls and emails, Netzero refused to discontinue service and continued to sign me up for additional services. Now I have to waste further time disputing the scam charges on my credit card. I hope it was worth it, Netzero, as I am now your worst advertising.
I had DSL service with AT&T. I did not have a landline. NetZero offered faster DSL for less money. Three months later, AT&T disabled my phone line and my DSL service stopped. NetZero insisted that I install a land line phone to enable DSL. I say did not need with AT&T; they say "we're not AT&T." They wanted AT&T to repair the phone line. AT&T says you have no service with us and we have no dealings with NetZero. NetZero is charging me a cancellation fee even though they admit this was beyond my control. Rip-off.
We called Tech support and all you speak to are people who you can hardly understand. There is no true tech support; they all try to blame it on the company that supports the phone lines, even though we have no problem with our home phone service. Internet service comes and goes at any given time of day for no reason. Our monthly bill keeps going up every month because of unexplained fees. Overall, company, product, customer service, and tech support is very poor quality, and for anyone even thinking of dealing with Netzero, don't. Run.
I have a very touchy used Apple computer and many internet carriers will not work. I found Netzero which claims it uses my OS. I signed up for the free 30 days of service and gave them my debit card number. When I tried to download their software program, it would not open up. I tried periodically for three days and I could not get it to open. I kept dragging it into the trash. I then decided to go with my telephone provider and use DSL. I signed up with Netzero on March 16, 2012 and by March 20th, I gave up and signed up with the telephone company instead. I contacted Netzero by e-mail but was informed I needed to call 800-851-7908 to cancel my account. I then did this and by then it was March 21, 2012.
I spoke to a person by the name of Bella and she said she could do this. She told me she was mailing me a a Security Software package to use because I had until May 17, 2012 if I needed to use Netzero for backup. I told her I never even used Netzero at all because it would not work on my computer. Why would I need them for back up? I already had an internet carrier I was using for the past three years and they cancelled me on 3/27/12. My DSL started with the phone company on 3/30/12 and I have no problems. I just checked my bank statement yesterday, 4/18/12, and noticed a charge for $6.05 for Netzero. They emailed me and they told me I did not cancel, but agreed to their "High Speed Internet Service". I was livid, and called the same number again and spoke to the same person, Bella, and she now insists she cancelled my service and would send a confirmation email - the same things she spoke before and I have not received any emails from them. I checked and my account is still active. My next step, and I sent them an e-mail this morning, is that I am going to report them to the FCC.
