Customer service is absolute garbage. I have used the service for years, and despite it being pricey, I did it because it is easy to use and I was too lazy to take all my passwords to another app. Well I paid for the renewal through Apple but there is some disconnect so Dashlane is not recognizing the renewal. Literally I have been trying to solve this for almost two months. Previously when you did not renew your plan, you could access your passwords but could not edit them or add new ones. Now you cannot even see them. So I paid the renewal, I have sent customer service the receipts for the renewal as they requested, I still do not have access.

Literally I have had banking issues, an issue accessing an old email address, and got into it with my husband at the grocery store because I could not access a store app password like I always have because Dashlane is holding my information hostage. And you cannot access a person through their live chat unless you have their premium service... WHICH I PAID FOR but since my app will not update, no customer service for me. It took over an hour to get access to a human who I am guessing is not in the U.S. and doesn't give a you know what about helping me. So we go back and forth over email and I get sorry, we are working on it. No they aren't. I will now have to fight with Apple to get a refund and get a new password app and what pain...

Absolute pits, biggest thing is no customer service, doesn't matter if someone is stealing and changing all your passwords but then they insult you with a $60 fee/yr higher than anyone else, can not longer get into the app, my passwords all changed due to either hackers or no upgrading the worse so called service ever, actually were pretty ok on the free version than when you pay the largest fee in the subject, you are on your own, only help is AI which we all know is a nightmare, cheap way to have customer service, I have spent the entire day calling my financial accts, trying to make sure I am safe and than all the passwords are changed, can't get into medical stuff or media is gone, can't get back in..DO NOT GET DASHLANE!! expensive and horrible. A company that can't give you one on one service is a waste..never again!!

How the mighty have fallen.... Used to be really good, but lately (2023-now) very buggy. Dashlane has made an intense push to expand market share, now targeting businesses. The rhetoric from the corporate offices is that they are making the product more "secure" which is why so many changes have been made. The latest: all consumer users will have to log in via the browser extension. According to the Dashlane script - the browser extension is encrypted and secure in ways the desktop simply cannot match. I find this explanation dubious at best and a flat out lie at worst. If the extension were so super secure - why aren't corporate customers required to use it? Companies have a higher need for security than the standard user.

A closer look will reveal that Dashlane is pushing consumers to the side to make way for businesses. The website for example - dashlane.com - is now their portal for business customers. Consumers have to go through a labyrinth just to be told that effective October 1st, there will no longer BE a website for us to log into - we must go through the browser extension.

The changes to Dashlane are also of benefit to businesses. Autofill for example, while convenient for consumers, is inconvenient for corporations. Corporations as a rule, simply need a secure place to house passwords. Autofill as developed by Dashlane is a secuity risk and as such Dashlane changed autofill for everyone. The consumer experience will not get any better anytime soon. Eventually Dashlane will figure out that businesses bring in 80% of their revenue, so there is no incentive to pacify consumers. Dashlane will eventually become a corporate supplier and sell off the consumer side (kind of like how Intuit sold off Quicken so they can focus on the more lucractive Quickbooks for business customers). As much as I used to like Dashlane (I still have a family subscription) - I do not recommend them anymore.

Dashlane has lost all my passwords. They said it was because I changed my main password. Seems like this should be something they could handle since they are in the password business. I'm switching to another company.

I hate Dashlane. Why do they charge every year for a subscription? I remember the days when software only had to be purchased once. What a money scam Dashlane is. Plus, the annual $59.99 charge is ridiculous. Also, Dashlane charges my debit card two days before my renewal date. The software is always buggy, it does not auto sign in on the EA App and Steam. I have to open the Dashlane app on my smart phone and type in those passwords manually. What a complete scam. For the expensive price, I would think they would fix these issues. What am I paying for? This is my second year using Dashlane and I will not be renewing next year. I hate Dashlane.

Absolutely terrible. Don’t these people realize that jot every problem can be solved by their BOT? Impossible to get a human to help solve a problem that is entirely of their own creation. No way to download a hoper link to log in…all you get is a sales pitch asking you to sign up for Dashlane…I already have (unfortunately) signed up for it many years ago, and know I need a frigging help to solve a problem that your genius employees created.

Dashlane is horrible, I had the free version and have been unable to log back in. I was even willing to upgrade to their premium plan to help secure my log in and they don't have customer service. You cannot speak to an agent for help. I do NOT recommend using them.

Dashlane customer during 2022, 2023, 2024. Was very happy with Dashlane until they suddenly downloaded an iOS 16.x version of their app to an iOS 15.x device without preserving the existing version and without providing advanced notice. No other Apps I have download an unsupported version over a supported version. Most Apps will refuse to download and replace a version that's working with a version that is not working. This is especially troubling when out and about and suddenly you can't login to your banking app.

You'll think you're done with them, but Dashlane always comes back... like a boomerang or HPV (I would imagine). Dashlane is never truly gone. Popping up in your life--subtly--with a random and irritating email 6+ months later that has you question whether or not you actually deleted your account. After unsubscribing, you hop on chat to get further information, concerned about automated subscription charges. Since you're writing this review in the distant future--approximately 2 years laters--the precise sequence of events is a bit hazy. But the fact that you are taking the time to write a review about a company you thought you had nothing to do with for year(s) in present day... well, it can be assumed that sequence of events is likely not a defining feature in terms of value, when reviewing Dashlane.

Anyway, I can't recall if I spoke to someone only via chat, or also on the phone at some point. However, despite I no longer had access to my account (because I believed I had deleted it), I was told by Dashlane that my account had in fact not been deleted. After expressing my desire to have it deleted, and explaining that I no longer had the email associated with my account, I got to combat about 30 seconds - 1 minute of marketing monologue (it was a phone conversation then), before being able to lock it up to get on with it. This verification process entailed a code that would be sent to a valid email address I would then enter on Dashlane's website. The purpose of this was to verify I truly wanted to close my account. Hung up and closed out of chat once I received the email...

I got the email and went to the website to enter my information and the code that had been sent to me to verify that I'd like to close my account. The code was invalid. I tried entering it multiple ways. Nothing worked. Super. I didn't feel like addressing it further that day, so I left it for another time. Of course, because Dashlane now has a valid email address, I started getting spam--but with no way of adjusting my account setting preference. Every time I would get something I would 'unsubscribe', but that gets irritating every time and isn't always successful. It was time to finish things.

I reached out via email the second time (maybe 3rd time technically?). Told them all of the above, expressed in no uncertain terms my desire to have my account closed, canceled, disintegrated, whatever... third time's a charm with code #2. Today, I check my email and I have an email from Dashlane about my free account? I first unsubscribe and mark it as spam, again. Then I contact them through their website and attach a screenshot of the email.

I get that if you have an email address, there's nothing you can do about receiving unwanted email. But never have I continued to receive spam email from a company that I paid money to for the purpose of safeguarding my own information after canceling service. So think about that if nothing else... the fact that a subscription-based digital wallet and password manager does not respect the boundaries of their customers nor request for privacy (however you want to look at it). I hope tech companies and journalists see these reviews as well and take other things into consideration.

Dashlane is a standalone password manager that can be run on a computer or smartphone. It saves all sorts of sensitive information, not just passwords.

      • Dashlane is easy to install and use: Users can quickly and easily download and install it on their computers and mobile devices.

      • Password use is automated: Dashlane works by automatically saving passwords when users enter them online. It then autofills the login screen when the user returns to the site.

      • Offers help with password creation: Dashlane offers comprehensive tools for generating secure passwords as well as rates user-generated password strength.

      • Password recovery: If a user forgets the master password, he or she has no way to recover it and get back into Dashlane.

      • Must install Google Authenticator for two-factor authentication: Users who want an extra layer of security must install a third party app; while this app is highly stable and secure, its presence still represents a security risk.

The ConsumerAffairs Research Team believes everyone deserves to make smart decisions. We aim to provide readers with the most up-to-date information available about today's consumer products and services.

      Dashlane questions and answers

What problem is Dashlane trying to solve?
Dashlane is focused on making identity and payments simple and secure everywhere.
What sets Dashlane apart from the competition?
We place a priority simplicity and universality. Dashlane is designed so even the most novice users will be able to easily navigate the product. We strive to have this same simple user experience on every platform.
What needs does Dashlane fulfill, and how do you fulfill those needs better than your competition?
Dashlane helps users manager their online identity with a fully-featured password manager and secure digital wallet app. Dashlane allows its users to securely manage passwords, credit cards, IDs, and other important information via advanced encryption and local storage. We have helped 3 million users manage and secure their digital identity, and have enabled over $2 billion in e-commerce transactions.
      How does Dashlane measure success?
Success in the short-term is based upon user feedback and public reviews of the product. We have worked hard to deliver a great product that works and have been lauded by The New York Times, USA Today and The Wall Street Journal as having the best product on the market.
What’s the most common misconception consumers have about password managers?
Unfortunately the greatest challenge is that most people do not even know that password and identity managers exist. The majority of the public struggles with organizing and securing their online life and have no idea there are solutions that can fix their problems.
How has your industry changed in the last 5 to 10 years?
The industry has become more visible as the number of security breaches and hacking incidents have increased. 10 years ago, a product of ours was considered a luxury or non-essential. In today's online climate there is a growing understanding that it is a necessity.
What is something you wish every consumer knew about Dashlane?
We wish every consumer knew about identity and password solutions. Most consumers struggle with these issues and are completely unaware about how to tackle the problem. We believe Dashlane offers a solution that merges convenience and security; two elements that consumers often believe are mutually exclusive.
Has Dashlane received any awards or recognition your customers would like to know about?
We have been selected by the following publications as being the best in our industry:

David Pogue/The New York Times – “Dashlane is life-changingly great.”

The Wall Street Journal – “I recommend Dashlane. It's so simple, so you'll actually use it.”

PC Mag – Best Security Product of 2013

      CNN Coolest Gadgets of 2013

Highest rated productivity app on iTunes
How has Dashlane grown or evolved?
We released a new version of our product that enables users to securely share passwords and have additional features that will be rolled out over the coming year.

We closed a $22 Series B venture funding round in May 2014 which made us the password manager with the most venture funding.
