United American Insurance has a good policy. Their rep was very good. Overall, I'm satisfied. I would like to have had some dental with it, but apparently, it wasn't available. Also, when I was doing my drops for my cataract, the pharmacies wanted this ridiculous amount for the eyedrops, so I went to a Canadian company that got the very same eyedrops for 25% of the costs that the Americans wanted. I'm an American, but I just couldn't believe that we have such a system, then I had to pay for the 25% myself, and I may need those for the rest of my life. So, I wasn't happy about that, and part of the insurance because I was saving the insurance company money. I should have been at least rewarded for my investigation to find that, indeed, I not only could save money for myself but for the insurance company. But other than that, I've been overall happy with things.

United American Insurance doesn't cover anything. I even called and talked to the head representative of the company and they said that's all they've got to offer. My co-pays are paid but I'm unhappy with their prices on premiums. I'm paying 590 through them and 475 through Medicare, and that only leaves me with $200 to cover prescriptions or anything else. When they leave you in the red and you've got groceries and utilities in the house, it's hard to come up with and stay afloat.

United American is very expensive and difficult to deal with. The National Kidney Foundation now pays my insurance premiums and pays by the quarter. United American raised their rates but didn't tell anybody. They raise their rates every single year. They’ve gone from $150 to $350 over the period of the thing, which is excessive. Also, when I call, I get jerked around and nobody knows anything. It’s a pain and I try to avoid it. Last month, I got a check back from them for $300. What's that for? I called up, “Well, I don’t know.” United American has messed it up and sent me bills. They are not consumer-friendly at all. They don't try to help me. When they create the problem, they don't try to help me fix it. I have to do it myself.

I called UA before my husband, a Vietnam Vet, went to Korea to visit an old army buddy. He was to be gone for 3 months. He left on October 27th, 2020 and was to return on January 19th, 2021. I called UA to find out if he was covered for any medical issues while he was gone. They said yes, he was covered, and whatever Medicare may have covered here in the US, that's what they would cover there, at 80%. I felt secure in my decision to have him go on his trip. As it was, a terrible thing happened to him. Two days before he was to return home to the US, he was outside by himself, and he fell on the ice and cracked his head. His occipital bone was fractured, he was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, and had to remain there for 7 weeks. He had a severe brain injury, and was finally sent to rehab 6 weeks in.

The total hospital bill was $44,000 (this was for all ICU, ambulance, full hospital stay and rehab). I began sending the bills to UA and started the claim process. But every time I called to check on the disposition of the claim, I was told they would not speak to me, they needed to speak to my husband, who could not speak. During this very dismal time that I could not be with him due to Covid, this insurance company refused to speak to me. All bills have been sent in. My husband is now home, after receiving exceptional care at the hospital in S. Korea. My calls to UA go unanswered. I see that no claim has been filed that I am aware of. Even though I FedEx'd all reports and bills to them.

One CS rep said to me: Well, the accident needed to happen within the first 60 days of his trip. I was NEVER told this when I called to see if he would be covered. NEVER. So here I sit, still without so much as an email or a phone call from UA providing me with any sort of a disposition at all. During this very dark time, I have been treated cruelly and without empathy by this company. I still have not been contacted by them. I started sending papers in on February 5th, and the last papers on March 11th. I plan to contact the Insurance Board and the Attorney General's office about this horrendous treatment. I have been a customer for 5 years, and I can't believe how unprofessional this organization is. Shame on them! Seriously!

I spoke to a representative and everything was done right. The one thing I love about it is that the doctors aren't limited. That's very important. Some of the other plans, they get you and then they knock off the doctors that you use, and then you have to go find a doctor within network or get a new doctor. Neither one of those are good answers to the problem. So I like the fact that doctors are covered, everybody gets paid, we're all happy, and my life is easier.

United American pays Darlene's bills. Her main concern is they pay the bills. United helps pay for her dialysis. If she was with the new Advantage Medicare, she would be stuck with the 20%. And that's not good because each one of those sessions are over $5,000. If she was to go into the hospital or get lab work, having to take care of her bills when it comes through has been smooth. And if I had a question, I can always call United. Or first I call Medicare and they make me understand what the bill is. And that's when they would say, “Well, her second insurance should take care of it.” And when I do, it doesn't come back to us. We're happy.

From the very beginning, their person who did the seminar was amazing, because it made me understand. Taking care of Darlene, I'm looking out for her benefits as if it was for me. How most elderly people look at their insurance is they don't want to pay so much. They want the cheapest. But the cheapest doesn't always pay everything in advance. For example, even when I tried to tell Darlene about it, she did not want to change because she’s used to being deducted 70 some dollars out of her Medicare to pay for her insurance. And then when this United came in, it went from 78 to 100 and some dollars.

I said, “Okay, here. You weigh it out. Write down how many times you go into the emergency room, go to your doctor's appointment and pay your co-pay, and you have to go in and pay for your lab works. You tally all those up for the whole year, not including the times you go into the hospital as far as your emergency coverage. Is it less than this 100? Take this 100 and some odd dollars, times 12 for one year, and you tell me which is cheaper.” And when she did, she said, “You're right. It's a lot cheaper.” I said, “Look. You get in the ambulance, you don't pay anything. You go to the hospital, you don't pay anything.”

She had to go to a home for physical therapy. Medicare only pays the first 21 days. Thereafter, you are responsible for the remainder if you still need physical therapy. And by having United health insurance, it was the best insurance she ever invested. We not only use this here in Florida. When we were in Albuquerque, she had her own room. She could eat in her own room. If she doesn't want, she can go out to the dining room. And the utensils were not paper plates, paper cups and plastic forks. It was forks, knives, spoons and dinnerware. That's how good the insurance was, that she was able to use it. And that was the most peaceful mind that I didn't have to worry about who was going to pay what. It was all taken care of. United is great.

My primary insurance agent got me the United American insurance. The application process was seamless. My agent took care of everything. She knew I was going to go in the hospital for some more surgery. She told me that this could be an ideal plan for me if I was going to be in the hospital any amount of time. The way it turned out, something unexpected happened and I spent quite a bit of time in the hospital. I've been very pleased. I love an insurance company like United American because I didn't hear anything from them and all my bills have been paid. That’s why I renewed it for this year. For a supplement, it’s expensive, but it's well worth it if you're going to have any kind of hospital stay or surgery.

I hope that United's price won't go up, because I have $1,000 pension and I pay $400 for health insurance. So, it doesn't leave me a lot to live on it and I don’t know if anything can be done to have more coverage. Like the Advantage customers, they’re choosing the advantage they’re receiving like free food, transportation, and membership for the gyms. If at least we can use the free membership for the gym, it will be great because we need that. But I'm thankful that this way, I have the freedom to choose the hospitals and the doctors for my needs. That gives me peace of mind. And since September, I have been facing a challenge and I had surgery for the last three months. So, having the insurance makes things much easier. All in all, my experience with United has been excellent.

United American was recommended to me by a gentleman when I was still working. I was going on Medicare because I worked till I was 75. I was still with the other company that had group insurance. But there were some confusing things like who pays first on stuff. I took the plan that the gentleman recommended and was told to pay the extra money that it cost to have United American do the paperwork. I would then never have to look at another thing again. That has been the best investment that I've ever made in an insurance product.

With United American, it's automatic and you don't do anything. I pay for whatever it cost the whole year at the start of the year so I don't get a monthly bill. I paid them recently for 2021. I never get billed unless it’s some really weird off the wall thing where I'm in a hospital and suddenly Medicare doesn't cover it. United American is not cheap but you get what you pay for in this world. I have no qualms about what it cost and I intend to stay with them till the day I die. If everything in the world is as easy, convenient, and dependable as United American, it should be a great place to live. If people have any doubts in their mind on who to go with, they should pick United American if they have the money to pay for it.

I pay a monthly fee to United and then, they set aside so much, put it in the bank and pay me 3% interest on it. At the end of the year, they use what they set aside with the interests I get off of it to pay my bills and generally, they don't have to pay much. But in the last couple of years, it seemed like they keep raising that amount and never tell me, which was one part that I wasn't crazy about. I was responsible for $2,000 in the year and then it would be 2,200, and then it was up to 2,400. They don't raise what I pay a month but it uses more of my funds that they set aside. But I'm satisfied with it. United has always paid the bills and no place has come back for more money that they didn't pay. So, as long as they pay the bills and I just make one monthly payment, it is working out okay. I would recommend United but if people find something better, that'd be up to them.

We have a home down in Florida. We met a guy there when we moved 20 years ago and we started being real close friends. He turned 65, and I was still about 63 at that time. He told me about United American. It just so happened that two doors down from them was David, who was a representative for United American. My wife was born a year ahead of me. She was turning 65 in a couple of months. So, the guy came over to our house where we live a couple blocks away, he explained the insurance to us and we went ahead and took it out for her. Six months later, I became 65. So then, I told David, "Look, I wanna get down on that also, the F plan," and he said, "Okay."

Back here in New Albany, where I was born and all, I knew a bunch of insurance guys and I asked them about it. They said, "Look, that F plan is probably not gonna be available in a couple years from now. It's really a good plan." And I said, "Well, I went ahead and got it down there." My company paid for my insurance and my wife's insurance for Medicare and drug program and all that kind of stuff. January 23rd of last year, I had to have a pig valve put in my heart. Medicare and United American paid every penny and my doctor told me it was probably about a half a million dollars that they put out. Plus, I had to go to rehab center for 10 days. I never paid a dime of that.

Between my Medicare and my health care insurance, United American, and my wife's and the few drugs plans we had through Social Security, it runs $800 a month. And what they paid just for my heart surgery, no matter how much money my company pays for my insurance, just in all the insurance, I'm way ahead of the game. It's not that I wanted to be ahead of the game, but people that don't go out and buy Humana or somebody in the drug program, you got a $500 deductible. My company pays through Humana $50 a month. That's $300 a year. I have a $500 deductible. If I didn't have one of my pills it would cost me $1700 for 90 pills which would take me for three months. And I'm already paying $50 a month to get that drug program through Humana.

When we went back to Florida, I even told David, "What you talked me into buying was fantastic." And he said, "Yeah. I told you it was good." So, I told a lot of other people. Then I found out from a friend of mine who I had spoken with that he got involved in selling it about two years ago. And he said he still sells it up here in New Albany, Indiana and it was because I told him about it, which I thought was coincidental. I'm totally satisfied with United American.

But they jumped my monthly premium from 349 to 269 with no notification letter and no explanation. I'd tell others to check prices very closely.

An insurance agent recommended United American Insurance. He said he has used it for 20 years. He's now in his 80's and have had very good success. The plan that I have is no longer available, at least not to new customers. That was the one that paid everything that Medicare didn't pay, unless Medicare refused to pay it because of reasons that are peculiar to Medicare. There weren't very many of those and most of them, the hospital managed to straighten out because it was a billing issue. United American has been absolutely wonderful.

We've been on them for five years and they just upped the expense on the policy for both of us. A gentleman came out and explained what they had and the coverage that it gave, and it seemed to be reasonable. We have considered going back and relooking at it since it is going up in price. I got a letter saying that as of two months down the road, our premiums are going to go up. But we have had good coverage. They do cover everything past the Medicare and we don't even have to file it. They charge $6.95 extra so that they get it directly from Medicare. That's nice. But I've had problems trying to reach them in the past because our salesman has moved. I've had trouble getting hold of the company through which he was working and I've tried to go that way rather than go directly to the company.

Shortly thereafter, I called to request a refund. IN the meantime I received a letter stating that I needed to provide proof of coverage in order to receive the refund. As a Medicare supplement is optional, there can be no such requirement, which I have explained to the representatives I have spoken with, and on two occasions they have said that I would be getting a refund by check. No check has been received, so I called once again (5th call), and was told that I needed to submit proof of coverage. I've asked for a supervisor to call, no call came. When I was working, I had Blue Cross Blue Shield. Then I went out on disability and I got a supplemental to my Medicare for about 15 years now with United American Insurance. Until about six months ago, I hadn’t had any unpleasant experience with United. But I had a problem when I moved into supplemental housing. I lost my home in the hurricane last year in Florida then I moved to Mississippi in a little apartment. Your income affects your rent and when I needed a letter from United stating what my monthly and quarterly payments were, I had a heck of a time getting that. It cost me three months rent and an increased rate simply because it was a couple of days late getting the information I needed. But I tried for three weeks.

One guy claimed he’d provided the information and he hadn’t. Then the next one was rude because he said the other guy had emailed the information. But evidently, he talked to the other guy and at the same time, I received the information from both of them on the same day. I was upset not because it hadn’t got done or that there was a problem, but that I was treated like that. He refused to email it to me because he said the other guy already had, and evidently, I didn’t know how to get an email. I had checked my deleted, my trash, and junk mails but I didn’t get their email. And regardless of that, he didn’t have to treat me like I was an idiot.

Aside from that, the premium is so terrifically high. It shouldn’t cost more than my rent and my utilities. Also, that one policy is a third of my monthly income, and I have no residual. And once I lost everything in the storm, that was a big deal. But I have not ever checked around to compare prices, if someone offered disability to retirement, simply because the policy did what it was supposed to do. Also, I’ve been sick and I should probably focus more on the pricing, but I’ve just hung in there with them.

The company policy seems to be to wear you out with unending demands of additional information to avoid honoring the accidental death rider on their policy, which they acknowledged only after I had sent the information in writing and had a lengthy conversation with the representative. Cause of death is noted twice as accidental on the death certificate. Among the things they now want are a police report, a newspaper article and an autopsy report including toxicology test results. None of this is available as the accident occurred when Nancy choked while having lunch at her care facility and was then transportation to a hospital. The loss of a loved one is heartbreaking yet this company seems determined to never let me come to closure.

Original Review: My sister died of an accident in April. I have sent everything I have been asked by United American Insurance Company yet cannot get this resolved. When I try to call to check on the claim I get a new person who tells me something totally different. I left my name and number with a promise I would receive a callback with 2 1/2 hours from a supervisor. That was 5 days ago. I called again today, got a different story again then was told I would have to wait another 48 hours to know anything. Told me to call me Wednesday or Thursday. I asked why? Lady told me she could not hear me and ended the call. What in the world? Am frustrated and hurt. Every time I have to tell this story again, it brings up the pain of losing my only sister. I was her guardian. Today is Nov 18.

Tremendous! That's the first word that comes to mind for United American. I had never heard of the company until my agent recommended it. I am thankful that she pointed me in the right direction. I've had the plan since July of 2018 and couldn't be happier; no networks and the freedom to see the doctors of my choice. I signed up for Plan F at a great rate---and no increases so far. With Plan F, I have no co-pays or deductibles---and all of my claims are processed automatically and timely.

My husband and I both enrolled in March 2019. First of all when the claims started coming in to them we received a plethora of mail from these folks. Every claim they wanted to verify it was not due to a pre-existing condition. Even things like imagining bills. Our doctor had to fill out about 25 or 30 forms. I got letters saying they were reviewing the claims. Finally they started approving the claims and were applying the payable amounts to the deductible. When my husband got pneumonia and sepsis that added a lot to the deductible, then he broke his ankle and had surgery followed by 20 days in rehab and now he is in the hospital getting PT three times a day.

This month they only took out the premium for my policy and they state they have voided his policy with a notation that they are refunding the premiums paid. It took 7 months for them to decide that something was inaccurate on his application. Funny that coincides with him reaching his $2,300 deductible. Also, they never notified us that his policy had been voided. Now, of course, my husband won't qualify for a different company due to new pre-existing conditions. Also they will not even tell his policy was voided, I have to send a letter by snail mail to get that. In the meantime, open enrollment slips away. Steer clear of these people.

I have been with United American for my medicare supplement since I turned 65 in October of 2015 and they have have been there for me every step of the way. With this policy I am able to see any doctor of my choice with no questions asked! No referrals or hassle, I go anywhere I want. During my time with United American they have never increased my rates, they actually reduced my rate in November of 2017. I was in shock to see a insurance company lower rates. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for Medicare coverage to consider a Supplement plan with United American.

I have had United American since 2015. Having no knowledge with medicare and the options, I interviewed several different companies. Devin **, came from United American. I explained I was not sure what state I was going to move to and needed to have insurance that was nationwide, not for emergencies only. I also wanted a company that I didn't need permission slips (referrals) to go to a specialist. I also said I didn't want to have constant co-payments. I bought my policy from him. Since that date I have had two surgeries and several minor medical issues. To this date I have not had any billing problems. Whenever, I call him he responds immediately. I have recommended several other people with him and I know they haven't had any issues either.

I rarely ever do reviews but after seeing all the negative comments I felt I had to. When selecting a company you need to understand what you are buying. I did my due diligence. Yes, my premiums aren't the cheapest but I also have great coverage and so far my premiums have not increased. In fact, because we moved my premium went down.

I got into United American through my agent Devin ** and he explained to me that going with a supplement would allow Medicare to be primary and that I would be able to visit any hospital, doctor, or specialist nationwide without any referrals or hassle. Boy was he correct. I took a Supplement Plan F which is the best available plan and I have been able to see any doctor I want and United American has paid the bills for all my medical procedures. It's funny reading these reviews how a lot of them don't make any sense. One person said that she changed her policy from a Medicare Supplement to a PPO. If you make the change thru Medicare and don't tell the insurance company that you made the change of course they're going to deduct your account and send you a bill that's what all insurance companies do. Yes, the customer service department can be slow, but at least it's here in the United States and not in the Philippines.

Unfortunately, some agents trying to impress their clients give out the wrong number for customer service and give out the agent only number. Those girls can't and won't answer your question it's your agent that has an active agent number is the only one that can. The Life ins side of things is crazy. if you notice that you're going to pay more in than you get out, take a paid up policy for the amount that you have and walk away. If you paid 8,000 into a 5,000 dollar policy then that's your fault for being stupid. United American might have its faults but most of these reviews sound like lazy people not being proactive in their own life's and now they're blaming others for their laziness.

It took me from October, 2018 until April, 2019 for them to find a payment I made that they didn’t have a record of. Talked to numerous people. They had me jumping through hoops to prove I paid it electronically. Had to email pictures of my bank account, had to go to bank and have them copy info from my bank account and have bank fax to them. This was all for a $30.74 payment!

They finally somehow found it after all that. Now I had a premium due May 21st, paid it May 7th electronically and now I get a letter insurance has lapsed for lack of payment! Same thing all over again. Tried several times to contact supervisor who handled last mess and no return call. I am going to find out how to report this company to the insurance board.

I turned 65 last August and he advised me that I HAD to go on Medicare. I advised him I was still employed and had a Company Hospitalization Plan. "You're 65 and you're entitled to this program. You worked for it," he tells me. What about my wife who is 3 years my junior?? "Oh she can go on Cobra the next three years. Don't worry." I sign up for Medicare at his direction and he sells me this top notch supplemental plan that I would never have to pay out of pocket for anything.

Shortly thereafter I go in for a routine Doctor's visit and they take all of my Medical Cards. Blue Cross, Medicare and of course the super duper plan that Old Ben sold me. Weeks later I am notified that nothing is covered and I owe for the visit out of pocket due to the fact I have yet to me my Co-pay for my group health Insurance. Contact my Great Found Friend Ben and he tells me not to worry. It's just a mix up and he will get it handled. Week goes by I contact him again and he tells me to get in touch with him later next week and WE will call Medicare together. I am now paying Medicare quarterly $403.00, Supplemental policy for $272.95 and my group coverage for $308.00 per month. I reach out to him again and am told he will get it corrected. It is just an error. Not to worry.

Another trip to the doctor and it as the last visit is not covered. Now I'M angry. A year has passed and I am paying monthly all these fees and have yet to hear from good old Ben. Being frustrated I meet with a couple of agents locally as I live in Ohio. They immediately advise me I have been clearly misled and I need to cancel the policy, remove myself from Medicare as I have a Company Sponsored Health plan and demand my premiums be refunded. I start with my outstanding new found friend Ben the agent who told me to TRUST HIM. I lay it out in black and white and minutes later he responded by e-mail telling me to CALM DOWN. He understands I am upset however he can cancel the policy and get all of my premiums refunded.

Minutes later he leaves me a voicemail 4 minutes and 7 seconds telling me the same thing and not to get upset because he will have to Lawyer Up!!! Well here we are weeks later and he doesn't respond to e-mails, United American does not respond and I have now filed a complaint against he and the Company with the State Of Ohio Department of Insurance. Both of these folks will soon be listed in a lawsuit due to the fact I have been lied to and paid out nearly $6,000.00. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of one or both of these businesses. The agent simply states it was a MISUNDERSTANDING!!! He clearly lied to me, misled me and totally misrepresented the product.

I now owe a collection agency over 3 thousand dollars because of a series of tests. Please read the very tiny fine print before signing anything for this insurance company!!! They cover NOTHING. When I signed up for this plan through an agent, I was told I had to have the payments deducted automatically from my bank account. After a year I switched to a Medicare advantage plan, having been told by Medicare that enrolling in a new plan meant being taken off the old one. I was shocked to find, in my Jan bank statement, that United American deducted payment for January ($309). I called them the next day and finally spoke to someone after a 45 minute wait! I told them I was on another policy and demanded a refund. Fortunately, I called my bank and told them not to allow any more deductions. The next week I received a bill from United American - for February.

I have had a life insurance policy on my mom for 13.5 years with United American. While waiting for the death certificate for my mom to be issued, I called United American Insurance to find out what they needed from me. I was told @ that time that it takes approximately 15 days to process a death benefit claim. I sent the requested documents on 10-18 via PRIORITY mail. I was under the misguided notion when your client sends something to you Priority it goes to the top of the pile. I got over that. I called to check the status of my claim on 11-04 & spoke to Ebony. She told me that claims take up to 3 wks to process but that she would check the status & return my call. She did not. I called her back, that is when I found that my documents were 'received' 10-24.

I called to check the status of my claim a few times during the week of 11-07 & everyone says up to 3 wks to process a claim. One person even put me back in the queue of calls. On 11-10, Marduk acted as if she was doing me a favor by taking my call & not hanging up on me. On 11-11 I called & asked for a supervisor. Shantrell told me that all of the supervisors were in a meeting all day. She asked for my contact information so that someone would call me later. I asked the name of the supervisor that would be returning my call, she told me Kim. Kim did not call. 11-14 would be 3 wks, by their count.

I called 11-17, to find out the status of my claim. I cannot express how undone I am when Renee` informs me that it is being processed 'accordingly'. I asked according to what!? She informed me that it is being processed 'accordingly'. 11-18 I called & asked for a supervisor, Justin would like to know the details so that he can let the supervisor know. I gave him the details, but he doesn't have clearance to view my policy. He speaks with a team lead, & whomever he was speaking with doesn't have clearance either. Oh! And all the supervisors are in a meeting all day, but he will send an urgent email so that I will be priority.

I asked him the name of the supervisor that would be returning my call, he says Kim **. She did not return my call. 11-21 I called & asked for the superior of Kim **. LaSheema would like to know the details. I am hesitant to go through this again with someone who doesn't have any authority, but I do. Again I am told that it takes up to 3 wks. I inform her that it is PAST 3 wks & again I ask for a superior. She told me that Kim was not in the office 11-18. I told her that is not what I was told, & again I ask for a superior. She transferred me to someone's vm. I left a msg & I said that I would be contacting the NC Dept. of Insurance, that I wanted the check sent to me via next day air.

This company has made the death of my mom more traumatizing than what it already was. They take their payments like clockwork, why is it this difficult to get death benefits? What makes this more difficult is I posted ALL of this last night on their FB page & shared it on my page. Not 10 minutes later, they commented, apologizing & wanted my contact information so that they could reach out to me. I thought to make things right. Nope, this morning they deleted the posts & all comments.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and my one debilitating symptom is fatigue. I have already tried several other drugs to combat this symptom and many were antidepressants that made me so sleepy that I would sleep the day away or I looked like a doped up zombie. I also tried ** and it worked until it messed up my stomach so bad, my doctor discontinued it for me. It didn't make sense that it did nothing for the fatigue except to say, I could not sleep when I needed to.

So going thru more 'step therapy' is not the answer for me since I have been experimented on enough at this point. I have been on the generic form of ** for at least 7 years and it is noted in my medical records so why not request them instead of making me jump through the same exact hoops again. I'm also aware that this is a highly sought after drug of pill poppers on the street across the nation, though I am not abusing my meds. I do not tell anyone what I take for fear it would be stolen. Failed to happen. I paid Jan and Feb. out of pocket. Learned today (4/28/15) that SS had paid then took money back from UA for those two months. I kept getting reassurance from US/customer service that SS would pick up payments, not to worry, but then would receive letters of non-payment. UA was unclear from the get-go about the process and failed to help get things squared with SS. I was just told by their Resolution specialist that I owe them for an unpaid month. The saga with UA is time consuming and totally inefficient. Did SS fail or UA? UA claims that they have no responsibility to resolve issues with SS and specifically to demand payment. I have not had any previous problems with SS. I will change insurers this coming Fall.

More recently, I was informed by my pharmacy that I did not have any prescription coverage. After again contacting the company I was told that I was given new group and bin numbers. Rx Problem 1: I switched my Part D coverage from Blue Shield to United America as of 1/1/15 based on premium and drugs costs on the medicare.gov website. One of my drugs was listed as $3 for a 30 day supply at a local retail pharmacy with United American. This is what I paid under my previous plan. When I picked up the Rx, the cost was $24.51. When I accessed the website of UA, the drug was listed as $24.51, not $3. I was told by my pharmacy to clarify this directly with UA. I have placed a call to them and I have now been on hold for 45 minutes.

Rx Problem #2: My doctor changed the dosage of a generic drug I have taken for years. It was submitted to CVS Caremark, the mail order pharmacy for UA. When I received the Rx, I received the brand drug and not my usual generic. In addition, I was charged $14.61 for a prescription for which I used to pay $0. I emailed Caremark and received an automated reply that it was the policy to use substitute this brand name drug when the generic drug on my Rx was prescribed.

Naturally, I was perplexed because I had been prescribed a generic. So I spent more than an hour on the phone with Caremark. The rep explained that UA's policy is to substitute Rx's with a generic equivalent drug and that in this case, the generic equivalent is the brand drug! This seems unethical to me. When I complained, Caremark didn't bat an eye and said they would fill the Rx with what was actually prescribed (generic) and would send me a mailer to return any unused pills of the brand name drug. When they received the mailer, they would issue a refund. I am so upset that I have to deal with this company for a year and will examine every Rx transaction very carefully. I cannot warn you enough to research plans prior to subscribing. I leaned my lesson. Jan 2016 can't come soon enough.

I'm reading the same type of complaints about United American over and over. I have had the same problem in getting for one of my providers. The tactics that United American uses to delay payment are repetitive. Always asking for either different paperwork, or resubmission of the paperwork that has already been submitted. They illegally cancelled my Medigap policy last year. My written contract gives two ways that my policy can be cancelled, either by non-payment of the premium or by a WRITTEN notice from me. When I realized that I hadn't received my monthly bill, I called only to be told that I had cancelled my policy.

They never gave me a real reason for the cancellation. They did tell me that I had CALLED them three weeks earlier and cancelled my policy, which was a complete fallacy. They have told me that if I want my providers to be paid in a timely manner that I must pay a "crossover" fee of $6.95 a month to coordinate benefits with Medicare. They can't send me an application in a written format, but they will take my money over the phone if I give them an account to charge it to.

I have contacted my State Representative’s office via email and they are now doing a Congressional Inquiry into United American's business practices. I urge everyone who has had or who is having problems with United American Insurance Company to contact their State Representative so that this company can be exposed and either fined, or put out of business. They haven't had any problems cashing the checks I send in every month. They just have a problem with paying for the services even when every piece of "proper" paperwork has been sent in.

It's my opinion that they illegally cancelled my policy last year because I actually use my health insurance benefits. If I hadn't been paying attention to my monthly bills, they would have been able to get away with a legal cancellation because my premium would have gone unpaid beyond the "30 day grace period". They were ever so kind to offer to take my banking information and take my monthly premiums from my bank. Did I trust them to take automatic payments on a monthly basis? Absolutely NOT. This is a non-trustworthy bordering on scamming company. Policy holders - BEWARE!

After a conversation with a federal judge I know, it appears that the only way my issues and the hundreds of others, who have complained to consumer affairs, will only be resolved with a huge, multi-million dollar class action lawsuit again United American. I would love to see this done.

For nearly a year, I have dealt with a branch manager who mislead me into applying for Med Sup Policy promising a certain issue date to avoid having to pay a months premium with employer plan costing me over $500.00; a VP who scheduled a visit with me and did not show; a paralegal who promised on a recorded 3-way phone call with Ga Insurance Department representative to pay benefits during Jan 1-20th, 2010 if I would agree to change issue date from Jan 1 to Jan 20th, but now refuses claims on those 20 days; and state insurance office that sides with company instead of me, the consumer.

I bought a Medicare supplemental insurance policy for age under 65, 7 months ago. They have denied every single claim that was ever submitted to them. They sent me denial notices because I had to wait for a six-month pre-existing condition clause. My agent said that as long as I had proof of an existing group plan I, the waiting period would be waived. They agreed when I told them that I had the certificate to have a guaranteed issue to purchase new health insurance. This insurance was purchased prior to the 63 days time allowance. I faxed the certificate to my agent and to United American.

Nothing happened except when my agent said that he was working on it but most of the people that he had dealt with it in the past had retired or are getting ready to retire and they just don't care about this problem but he would work on it. I called United American daily to see if they got one of the four faxes which was the same certificate faxed 4 times, that I sent them. As of June 15, 2010, still they had not received it. I asked if I could speak to anyone in new business where the faxes are sent and decisions are made and I was told that no one talks to that department. We are only allowed to send them internal emails. I asked them about their pre-existing condition clause, that if I were to go to the doctor for a sore throat which is obviously not a pre-existing condition, would they cover it. I was told by a service representative that they deny every claim in the first six months regardless of the condition.

Before I even filed a claim, my premiums went up in the fourth month by more than 20%. I called my agent many times. He said that he is working on it. He has been caught in so many lies. I really don't believe a word he says. Last week, he said that he needed to know what doctors I saw, what for, and how much United American owed them. I told him that I thought there was some kind of HIPPA violation going on because I shouldn't have to tell my agent my doctors’ names and diagnosis. I went ahead and did it because I am desperate. I pay $4,800 per year for this insurance and after pulling the last 3 years of Medicare EOB, I won't even come close to owing that much in out-of-pocket expenses. I have paid them close to $3,000 so far and they are arguing over paying $230. I will get them to pay this and then I will cancel my policy and take my chances.

She said my insurance was just like a PPO, that I could use my card at the doctor's office just like any reputable company, same with the dentist or pharmacy. I went to see a doctor, gave them the card then I got a letter from United saying the following: Your policy provides protection against the expense of accidental injuries. However, it does not provide benefits for treatment of an illness. In short, this company is a scam and I would be willing to bet that they never pay out anything towards anyone's claims. The total pay out from United American Insurance was only $200, which was barely 1/4 of what I calculated my policy should have paid. When I asked the insurance company, they explained that they only pay out $200 annually on the policy. This seems strange since my premiums are almost $600 per year. I went to work for United American and left a well-paying job. They promise prospective agents six figure incomes to lure them in. It did not take me long to figure out that working for this company is a joke. They give you about five days' training and then tell you that you have to sell 12,500 in ap or you are let go.

They provide absolutely no literature to help you sell. In addition you are a virtual telemarketer. They require you to make around 800 calls per week. The Wichita office employs around 22 agents. A short time after becoming employed with them, I noticed there were always new faces in the office. So here is what UA does: They hire people and have them pay to get licensed. They use that agent to sell a few policies and then fire them for underperforming.

How does this make any profit sense for UA? Well it's easy. The agent sells policies and is promised monthly residual income. If the company fires you then they no longer owe you any residuals. Bottom line is this company is a scam to work for and does not provide good coverage for its clients. Do not go to work for these people. They ruined my life economically!

The claim was denied since it was an "outpatient". This was not explained to me by the agent when I purchased the policy.

I have no control over whether the doctor deems me injury/illness and outpatient or inpatient. It appears to me the right thing to do was to minimize the cost of the visit so the doctor made the right choice. However United American refuses to pay. I called to challenge this decision and was told I can purchase a "rider" to my policy that would cover the "outpatient" expenses.

I reject this as a "bait-and-switch". This is a total misrepresentation of what I purchased. To add insult to injury, they were able to mail my ID cards to my correct address but the explanation of benefits package I have not yet received because they have an incorrect address. Sometime later, I visited my doctor and found that they only paid a $50.00 of the $165.00 charge. I was being treated for skin cancer and United American only paid a small portion. The balance was left to me which I had difficulty paying. The doctor's office notified me that my insurance was terrible. After not being able to pay the balance, I was notified by the physician that they refused further treatment. I then became a victim of lung cancer and had numerous testing procedures which United American would not pay even one dollar. One oncologist refused to treat me due to, and I quote, "Your insurance has refused to pay for any charges, therefore I cannot treat you. I was referred to a doctor's group, who agreed to treat but I had to apply for indigent assistance through the hospital.

United American would only pay up to $300.00 for any procedure and if you have more than one procedure, they decline payment stating that they have already paid $300 which is their maximum.

I now am about $100,000 in debt and it continues to grow and has negatively affected my credit. Due to my condition, I am unable to find other insurance to replace United American and they continue to collect their premiums. This is seriously wrong. I am waiting for hospitals and other physicians to refuse treatment which with my illness will mean death.

Remember that this company has forced me into a very serious position but my bills are continuing to accumulate, causing and forcing me into poverty by applying for indigent care. I have a very good oncologist, who I respect, as he is treating me in spite of my insurance but the procedures are not covered. I still have a hard time knowing that I cannot go to many hospitals or other medical centers due to my health insurance. This cannot be legal, can it? We heard how wonderful they were. How they had been around for so many years blah, blah, blah. I was told they would pay 80% up to $160 per doctor's visit. I asked this question probably ten times to the salesman and he said it's the same way each time. Mind you, this was over 3-4 visits. Next time I will have all conversations recorded! Apparently from what UAI told me on the phone, I would have to see a doctor three times for one condition in order for them to pay. Then they would pay the percentage up to $160. The REAL problem is that UA will hire ANYONE, so long as you haven't committed a felony. Most of the agents know zero about insurance, they are only counting commissions (which are the highest in the business). You make a TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY WRITING THESE POLICIES! As much as $700-800 per policy for the Flex plans. None of the medical plans will pay, none will covr lab work or emergency room visits or annual physicals. they are written in VERY obscure language depending on the fact that the customer does not know much about insurance. When i sold these policies, I truly believed they were the best for the money, but then, I had never been sick or really knew anyone that was ever really sick enough to use one. The medicare plans are good, just expensive. The medical plans are now worth he paper they are written on. I just thank God that I left UA and found a real legitimate company. And for those of you with complaints, you are all complaining to the wrong places. If you want to see something done about it, you need to file complaints with your state's 'DEPARTMENT OF INSURANCE" they oversee insurance companies. I was in mgmt with UA and THAT IS THE ONLY THING THEY ARE TERRIFIED OF BECAUSE THEY CAN RUN THE RISK OF BEING KICKED OUT OF THE STATE IF ENOUGH PEOPLE CAN SHOW CAUSE. Good luck!

My wife was in a serious accident where she broke seven vertebrae. The accident was not her fault. She had several hospital stays and one serious surgery. Total bill for cat scans, x-rays, hospital, and surgery now exceeds $80K. United American has covered about $16K. All my calls have been answered by desk clerks who all say the same thing: "We are not a major medical insurer!" I cannot believe it. This is exactly the opposite of what the agent who sold us the policy said it was; the exact opposite.

This is not even health insurance as this company does not have insurance contracts with the medical caregivers. The hospitals had no idea who they were and had no financial contracts with them. Do not buy United American. It is not health insurance in the traditional sense; at best it is a sort of health "rider" or "addendum" but for the cost it is a total scam. A class action lawsuit is required. Does anybody know if one exists? If not, let us file one ourselves. With over $60K due that UA would not pay, contrary to their sales pitch, I would say that we are facing financial ruin. I purchased insurance to avoid this situation. What I was told was a complete misrepresentation of what United American actually is. Medical bills are very difficult to work with, and applying for Medicaid is even worse. I wanted my pay, that made me negative. I came in on payday to get my last check I thought. I was told that I was not entilte to the check because I did not represent the company any more.In essence Iwas robbed and was now down somewhere around $5000 for having worked at United american.

The man in charge Marion P has done this to hundreds if not thousands of agents and gets away with it. I complained to the insurance commisioner and nothing was done. To add further insult to this I was sent an I9 that said I was payed roughly $2000 dolars while working there. I was responsible for the tax on that money, even though roughly 1400 of the dollars were never given to me. I complained to the IRS to no avail. This company in the very definition of unethical. They train their people to lie as they train others but the new agents may not know that they are lying. I did not know that I was guilty of misrepresenting products until I really studied the policies. I would like to apologize for hurting anyone that I may have hurt while working for that unethical company. I also got hurt by them and it makes me wonder if they are willing to traet an agent that earns them money like that how will they treat their customers????????
