Date of loss April 23, 2015. ** at Santa Rosa Auto Body agrees that the estimate that State Farm gave me was not right and very unfair. ** from your team was very rude to ** of Santa Rosa Auto Body and I. ** asked to speak with your supervisor and she told ** no he can't and that she was going to make a note in the system that if he calls back he will get directed straight to her and her only. ** hung up and called back and spoke with ** from team manager and said the estimate was very unfair and that you guys need to make this right. I feel the same and feel like I have been treated very poorly, I was rear ended by your client and I'm not being treated fairly with this payment of $224.00 is an insult on the damage that was done by your client to my rear end to my vehicle. Even The Estimates I got at Auto Body And More and Blake's Auto Body were much higher estimate pricing then your adjusters.
I have called multiple times on this matter your team never calls me back. I plan on taking my car in for repairs but your $224.00 check you sent me won't cover my damages, even your own adjuster has a bid for a much higher bid like $1200 which was below all the body shops I went to. I would appreciate a timely reply so I can move forward with this as fast a possible. I don't accept your $224 for repairs on my 2001 Mercedes Benz C-240.

I have been insured by State Farm for 18 years without having to file a claim. I was driving my mom's car (not injured), police to arrive he suddenly came up with "Hey I was hit too and got a partial plate". No way was this guy rear ended. He hit me as soon as I hit the brakes (he was changing lanes) and I saw no car hit him. I have waited over three weeks for State Farm claims to finish their "investigation" and now they say my claim is denied because of an "unknown driver" that caused all of the damage. This is incredible.
The guy who hit me is also getting therapy for a neck/back injury. Nice. I was not injured at all. I was also told by my agent that I can't even use my State Farm insurance to cover the damage because the insurance "follows the car not the driver". So basically my mom's insurance is going to have to pay for the damage. The whole experience has been very unpleasant and I am currently completing quotes online so I can change insurance companies. STATE FARM SUCKS!

I was involved in an accident with a State Farm insured driver. My insurance carrier "Progressive" filed a Michigan mini tort claim for $1,000 to help recover some of the costs in repairing my vehicle. I received a notice from State Farm that they would not pay because "Their insured was not significantly at fault" for the accident. They obviously send these out without any review of the police report which clearly states the other driver "failed to yield" as they pulled out in front of me from a side street long driveway. No one could possibly interpret this as "not significantly at fault" if they bothered to read the police report. I faxed State Farm the police report with this information, but have not heard from them for 2 weeks.

I was involved in an accident last week. The other person was in the right turn lane and crossed over into my lane. I saw him coming so I honked and attempted to swerve to no avail. The city I was in does not take police reports unless there is an injury or the cars aren't drivable. We were told by an off duty cop to exchange info and have our insurance companies duke it out. Well the other driver refused to give me his info so we had to wait for an officer to come out who basically forced the driver to exchange info with me. When the officer asked him what happened the officer told him that he was at fault based on his account of the events, but remind you there was no police report. It turned out the driver wasn't the owner of the car and the car's owner has SF as do I. I'm thinking this would be cut and dry, the other driver's fault and that's it.
Well the car's owner and the driver gave a conflicting statement from mine so I was told that the claim would have to be escalated. When I asked about the escalation process I was told that I would be contacted to give another statement which would probably be recorded and that someone might come out to look at my damage. I asked if it would help if I could provide the name and badge number of the responding officer and I was told yes and that I could provide that information when the claims rep reached out to me. Fast forward to the next day, I hear absolutely nothing from SF. Around 6 pm my mom, who I don't live with, calls me to tell me that SF left a message on her voicemail stating that I'm negligent.
I call the claims dept and I'm told they came to that determination based off of the statement of the car's owner (who wasn't present at the accident scene), the driver (who was already told by the cop that he was at fault), and pictures (which show my car in between two lanes because I was swerving to avoid the idiot that hit me). I asked if they would contact the officer that responded and the guy said that they would make an ATTEMPT. The claims rep was very rude and tried to cut me off while I was speaking. He then told me that even if the officer states that the other driver was at fault that doesn't mean that SF will change their decision and that for them to take the officer's word indefinitely she would have had to been at the site when the crash occurred. Total bull!!! SF just ruined a 16 year relationship!

I had an auto insurance contract with State Farm for a year and half. But I noticed the price they were giving me was absolutely crazy. I was paying 120$/month for 1988 Nissan Maxima, and I had a perfect clean driving record for more than 8 years in California & my hometown (I am 27 y.o and a PhD student with GPA 4.0 for the whole period of the contract). The problem is they never ever tell you about the discounts that you actually deserve, and it's like it is your responsibility to find and beg them to receive.
Also, they will charge you as much as they can for many things that you really never need! In this case, they take advantage of the lack of your knowledge about insurance policies! After all, once they found out I was about to cancel my policy, they suddenly became so nice to me! But as soon as I said I was sure that I wanted to cancel it because "I was simply not happy with your price", they became rude and said okay go to hell! So disgusting! I promised them to put a review for them, and I am doing it right now! I am now paying as low as 60$/month to Geico with even better liability (500/500). Just because they gave me the all discounts and removed all the extra absolutely unnecessary items.

Horrible experience. I do not recommend using Chuck McAveney or State Farm. My family has used State Farm and the McAveney Agency for many many years. I figured when I grew up I would use them too. I have been a customer for over 20 years and always paid on time and have never filed a claim. My first claim for hail damage and they only want to fix half of the damage at best and are only paying half the rate of my cheapest estimate. They want to patch the entire front half of my roof with numerous patches and said they don't care that it won't match or that it opens us up for more leaks than replacing the entire roof. Every roofer I spoke to advises against this. Apparently loyalty is not a part of State Farm or Chuck McAveney's policy. Shame on me for being loyal to them for so many years.

Now the guy at the store told me I got to pay the check back plus the fee!! I call and talk to about three people but no one was no good help. Our car was rear ended by a State Farm covered insured. We were going about 5 miles an hour in stop and go rush hour traffic on the interstate when this person rammed us going about 45-50mph. After the other driver immediately apologized, admitted fault and the police report showed we were NOT responsible, we had to wait for DAYS for State Farm to accept liability. It was a joke! Their customer service is horrendous. My husband's $1000 glasses were destroyed in the accident and we still don't have them replaced by State Farm because their medical claims unit apparently is NEVER working as they definitely don't return calls.
We may not be your insured, but your driver could have killed us and definitely did a lot of damage that you are responsible for covering. Yes we have our own insurance, but why in the world should we go through subrogation and maybe never get our money back when you are totally at fault?? Your customer service is HORRENDOUS and I only gave 1 star because there wasn't an option for NONE. If you are with State Farm, I would strongly suggest you move your insurance elsewhere.

I talked to the State Farm claim opener who was nice but it was all downhill from there. This guy backed up into my rear fender in a parking lot so not like we were fighting about who was at fault. So I go to the State Farm website and pick one of their approved auto body companies since it had good reviews on yelp. After 3 weeks of hearing "we don't have a status on your claim", I finally find out that my car is totaled so I have 2 choices... 1) Keep the car, get $3K and have a salvage title or 2) Surrender the car and get $5K, so that seemed okay but I said, "Let me look at used cars cause the car only had damage to the trunk and it full drivable and not even totaled." So I call back the next day and said, "I'll go with surrendering the car and taking the money", but then they said, "You now have 3 days to find a new car and return the rental or you will have to pay for the rental".
I told them I have a week vacation planned at the CO river out of state in 2 days. Since they took so long to decide it was totaled and they give you less than a week to find a new car, it was ridiculous. I had to argue with the claim rep asking for an extension and he would say, "Maybe I can give you an extension". He stressed me out so much and I had to argue with him multiple times during my vacation to make sure I got an extension. Thanks for ruining my vacation State Farm, YOU SUCK!!!

State Farm Insurance has no integrity. Your client parked on the street where several of "No Stopping Any Time" signs placed along the street. State Farm's client did not check the traffic while he was merging to the right side of my car. He crashed into the middle of my car while I was driving straight. The middle of my car on the right was badly smashed while State Farm's client's front left bumper was damaged. State Farm rep simply told me on the phone that he wasn't at the accident scene so he had to side up with his client who said I was at fault because he did not see me coming and the middle of my car smashed into his left bumper. I will go all the way to the court to fight for this unfair conclusion. State Farm rep refused to pay for the damage their client caused.

I'd always wanted to be a State Farm customer; they would take a very good care of me. I firmly believed it at the time. I had a great local agent once, he was of Japanese descent. He retired and later I had done business with two agents (and their staff) and who were all very unhelpful and unprofessional. I'm a good driver, even get "good driver discount".
One day I was at a full stop and got rear-ended and it totaled my car. I called SF and the driver who rear-ended admitted full responsibility. SF said they would represent me and subrogate if I pay a refundable deductible. What they did was to pay for the value of my car, 80% of the rental car cost, and a trip to my doctor's office (Thankfully I wasn't hurt, so it was just a check-up). SF refused to subrogate the 20% of the rental cost. When I asked for an explanation, they said it's a rule that they don't subrogate the out of pocket rental car expense. When I asked "where is the rule written? Give me a copy of it", she said "It's industry standard" (What does that mean?! Did she just make it up?).
When I asked when I would get the deductible back, I was told it would take 6 month to a 1 year. Okay, if there was a question in whose fault it was, I would understand it might take some time, but there isn't any question. I asked, "Would it still take that long?" the answer was "Yes". In total, I'm out $500 for not doing anything wrong, not including all the time I've spend making phone calls just to get back to my daily routines and coming to the realization that "No, SF would not take care of you". We are having to go after the other insurance company ourselves for the 20% of rental car, which raises the question "Why on earth was I religiously paying the monthly premium if I had to do the work myself and left feeling like I caused this accident?" I want to believe that SF was, in the past, a good insurer; but certainly not anymore.

Accident was 4-6-15 - their insured at fault. Police report their insured cited vehicle is considered totaled. I have been chasing State Farm to call me and still have only received 2 calls from them, they do not call back and when you ask for a supervisor you do not get one, and their excuse is "We are extremely busy." They can spend all that money on commercials on how they think how great they are on claims, but won't spend the money to hire more claims representatives. Will never buy State Farm insurance - if they can't handle a claimant I wonder how they treat their insureds.

Like tens of thousands of Canadians, we are "Snowbirds" who also own a home in AZ. We are usually in AZ only during the winter months. After 20 months of having our auto insured with State Farm, because of their high premiums I changed to another auto insurer. And we learned from our new insurer something that the State Farm agency I dealt with never bothered to tell us even once during our 20 months with them - that, if we were like most Canadians and spent only the winter months in AZ, that we could save ourselves THOUSANDS of dollars every year on auto premiums by taking advantage of an option they had of placing our policy on a reduced coverage, and paying for just comprehensive (fire, theft, vandalism); and not having to pay premiums for collision and third party liability during the time we wont be driving it.
That, in our case, amounted to around $3,000 that we could have saved during the 20 months we were insured by State Farm. I was very disappointed, outraged - that none of the agents or the agency owner, all of whom KNEW we spent only 3 or 4 winter months in AZ, and even spoke with us at various times while we were in Canada but NOT ONCE informed us of any such option during the 20-month period (from August 2013 to March 2015) that we were their automobile (as well as Home) insurance policy holders. They neither cared enough, nor were conscientious enough, to inform us of this option that could have saved ourselves around $3,000 in automobile premiums during the time we were their policy holders.
When I brought this matter to the attention of the State Farm agency owner on north Phoenix (contact me and Ill tell you the name), and later to State Farm corporate office, they both washed their hands off, telling me they can do nothing about it now! No wonder the leading consumer magazine ranks State Farm in the bottom half of general insurance companies including experience at claims time. There are many far better companies out there. Do a web search for best general insurance companies, and you can see it for yourself.
I wish I had done my own ratings check-up instead of simply being referred by my real estate agent. Or go to the local library and check the rating in Consumer Reports magazine, the leading consumer magazine that publishes surveys of hundreds of thousands of their subscribers. Oh...about all of those rosy State Farm TV ads that show how much they care? It's just marketing BULL, with little relation to their actual practices!

When the policy was written the agent was let known of me hitting the deer and me and having to let my insurance lapse and still went ahead with it. 3 months gone by and get a letter saying they were gone to drop me for being a high insurance credit risk. The customer service department is rude and the adjusters can never be located. The only time I heard from my actual agent is when I called her. I've even had one adjuster laugh at me when I ask him what I'm suppose to do about getting my car replaced and another csr placed me on hold and never came back. I was looking for cheaper car insurance and was referred to State Farm by a friend/broker. My previous car insurance broker contacted representative ** with the Manhattan location and provided her with ALL my information. After looking into my background, she offered me car insurance for $150.00, which was less then what I was currently paying. The following day I went to the office signed the documents, paid for the insurance and was given a temporary insurance card. This was during the second week of April 2015.
Two weeks later I received a call from ** stating that my insurance is going up $114.00! She stated that the overwriting department looked deeper into my history and noticed that my license was suspended for 3 days in 2013. I explained to her that I had no knowledge of that and was going to The Department of Motor Vehicles immediately. I then received formal cancellation of car insurance policy letter. My confusion is this, if Ms. ** did a background check and everything was good, why is it weeks later that there's an increase/ cancellation. I believe this is done often, hoping that people are desperate enough to pay the difference and remain. If they offer you something that looks to good to be true, then question it.

I sold one of my vehicles and had it removed in March which left me a credit so I wouldn't have to owe anything in April for my other vehicle. One week later I went to a dealership and financed a 2010 Jeep. I called my State Farm agent at the dealership to add the Jeep which had to have full coverage. State Farm quoted me $128 a month for the Jeep and then another $54 for my car so $182 total a month. They sent me a bill for $245!!!
I called State Farm and was told that the ratings on the Jeep went up so I told them to up the deductible to $1000 and it brought my monthly rate down to $211 supposedly then they turned around and said it would be $217!! Needless to say....I walked out and didn't pay a dime! I got insurance through my employer which was a new thing my employer was doing....I now only pay $30 a week ($120 month) for both vehicles with a $500 deductible plus towing included... I was "convicted" without my knowledge of a mild hit and run. When I was made aware I did all that was required of me. I was driving a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse when road conditions lead me to rear end a Yukon Denali. At 10 mph. I went to the ER with a broken nose, the people in the Denali refused. I received no tickets. The police even pushed my car into a nearby lot so I could have it towed on my own.
Now two years later the people in the Denali decide to sue for over 70 grand. I wasn't even given the chance to defend. Eventually I'm found responsible for this 70 grand. I can't pay and am forced to file bankruptcy. Now according to Illinois bankruptcy law they cannot take action. Like suspending my license. State Farm is above the law apparently, because I was just arrested for a suspended license even though my bankruptcy went through months ago.
Do not get insurance thru State Farm, and if they're coming after you, get ready for a fight. I know this might seem like bs, and I can't change your mind. Corporations can not feel that they're above the law. I hope that others can read this and just see. I go to my lawyer tomorrow and court on this next month. Thanks for reading.

I was with State Farm my whole life (my parents had it also). I am 63 years old. I had some very good agents and a spotless driving record. 2 weeks ago my daughter went into a very deep ditch in a rural area of town. A tow truck brought it to a body shop. State Farm paid the tow, as I had road side assistance coverage. We were told by the State Farms claim person, the damage estimate made by an adjuster was $8300. A check was sent and cashed by the body shop. We were also told it would take about 2-3 weeks to fix it and given a rental, as I had that coverage as well. 9 days later, at 8 am I receive a call from the claims department stating a second adjuster came out said the damage is $12,000 and they are declaring it as a loss. As we only had the car for 5 months, the loan is underwater.
The person I spoke to only told me there was nothing I could do about having to pay the remainder of the loan, they expected the $500 deductible, and would I please get the car out of storage as this was costing them money. I told her I wasn't paying for a car I can not drive and hung up on her. This was my daughter's first accident in 13 years of driving. I never heard anything from my agent, who has never taken the trouble to introduce herself to me. I thought I was going to faint and couldn't stop shaking. If this is being a good neighbor, I'd hate to see a bad one. I'm going to fight this, and am extremely disappointed with State Farm and how I was treated as a paying customer. The incompetence and poor customer service is mind boggling. (I'm rating based on assuming what her experience has been. For a long time customer, I'm surprised at the poor service).

They refused to do so even after I told them that Mercury confirmed their willingness to pay. Also, the Mercury claim adjuster contacted State Farm and told them the same thing. State Farm did not allow Mercury to do so. I don't understand why it is so difficult for State Farm to work with the other company on their customer's best interest.
The repair was completed and invoice was sent on Apr 11. I had to email them Apr 17 asking for my deductible reimbursement. That was when they realized they should send the case to subrogation. Then they tell me we have this preferred shop if you take it there you will get a lifetime warranty on the paint and repairs. BIG BIG MISTAKE. Well, I opened my big mouth and told them I just had this vehicle painted a few months prior due to someone egging it. Well this body shop starts seeing dollar signs and all of a sudden the paint starts mysteriously bubbling and peeling while in their care. Next thing you know they will not give me the lifetime warranty that was promised unless I have it painted again.
Well instead of sanding it down and fixing the issue they are telling me they are just going to paint over the paint they are claiming is bubbling and peeling. One hundred percent BULL. I then told the body shop to stop work until the adjusters from both insurance companies are able to assess the situation. Well now they do not want to pay. I tell the body collision company I am taking the vehicle somewhere else and then all of a sudden it is dismantled and is not road worthy. A company that does not want to pay for the damages they cause working with another company trying to weasel out of warrantying their work and not only trying to collect for the repair but is trying to get my insurance company to pay for another paint job.
Since all this occurred I have watched numerous youtube videos on how to prep for an auto paint job and none of them use a high pressure air gun to remove excess debris. These people are loony, avoid them and their preferred auto repair shops at all costs.

I have been in contact with them for 5 hrs within 3 days because I was charged for a quote but no one could find it. Yet I was being offered 8 different quotes from 2 different agents (assistants). The owner was never there to resolve the issue and although I ask for him to contact me he was not available, and they still want your business.
The worse part was asking for a supervisor who was an idiot. Instead of helping me, he said that they have to charge the right premiums as if I was trying to get a $120 for $5 premium. After 4 yrs of no claims and I have clean record and 4 cars with them and an excellent (sort of) agent. After reading about a hundred reviews and a talking with the Agent, this is the short, based on fact. State farm hires a 3rd party to do risk analyses on all customers every 5 yrs. for over your last 3yrs. It's based on the number of claims more so, than on their out of pocket expense for the most part.
Example... there was a 12yr customer with 8 cars insured, he put in 4 tows in last 3 yrs, That's it! He got dropped! Another guy had one, at fault 100k claim, they paid out and he got renewed! Don't get the tow package! It's cheap but in the end it's how they determine you as a risk, on purpose. Basically, as they see it, if you're willing to use that petty little bit of coverage, you're willing to claim on everything! They don't dig it and I've hear over and over and over the same thing... if the rate is good, anything under 3k pay it yourself... This insurance is for catastrophic coverage only!!! I got dropped for 5 litigate tows in 4 yrs...
I also got rear ended by a non-insured drunk driver, rear-ended by my neighbor, (her insurance paid) and a truck that dropped his load on my car... agent said that wasn't covered, even with full coverage!? I took it to corporate and indeed it did get covered! Go figure... It was all good except the tows... I'm getting dropped, even thou I didn't do anything wrong?!
Note to the wise... make sure before you make the move get it in writing that none of the claims are listed as "at fault" go through corporate claims to find out!! What will happen is your rates with any other company will sky rocket later and to change, even if it's not your fault, goes into a data base, at that point you will need an act of congress to change it!! Get everything in writing from corporate, not the agent or it doesn't mean a thing!! Hear me now or believe me later... better to stay away from State Farm... you get what you pay for!! PS to be fair... the agents don't get but a few bucks off each person so be aware, they will be so-so on helping you... don't blame them... Their hands will be tied... so move on...

My daughter car was rear ended in the school's parking lot. We did get a police report which I suggest you do the same if you are dealing with State Farm. I took the car to a body shop and they wrote me an estimate for $2089 to replace and paint the rear bumper, install a new light and whatever it needed. I sent a copy to the State Farm. The state farm had asked us to take the car to one of their facilities in Fort Worth TX. The State Farm did not offer to look at the car after I told them my daughter goes to school and has a busy schedule. My daughter took the car to the address they had given us and they wrote her a check for $490 which was the fourth of the estimate I had sent them. Both me and my daughter were very upset. She was told the bumper which is plastic and damaged, did not need to be replaced.
I called state farm and they told me they did not have the $2089 estimate, I had sent them and asked me to send a copy and they will make some adjustment. I did so and I called them again. This time the person who answered the phone was acting like he did not know anything about the case. I told him I had paid lots of money for the car and I need to fix it right and he told me if I take it somewhere else to repair it, I may have to pay out of my pocket and told me I had to take it to their shop. He had a bad attitude, he even told me he did not think I could find a bumper for a car that old. He kept lying about many things. I was told State farm write their estimate as low as they can. They write it based on what they can see the surface of people hopping they take the check and go. This is fraud and is meant to misguide people. Same thing when the last person I talked to told me that I had to take it to State farm repair shop, which is not true.

I was the first car (in front) when I was hit by a Mini Cooper who was hit by a Toyota Highlander on the 405S on 3/20. Luckily I left plenty of room in front of me so I was only hit from behind. Contacted my insurance agent who reported it to the claims dept. Just like all the other posts I was told if I pay my $1K deductible then they would subrogate the claim and get their money back and my deductible, however, it could take several months. OR I could contact the 2 companies insurance carrier and file a claim. Why do I pay them if I have to handle this myself?
I went to State Farm because my dad had been with them for 40 years (notice the word "had" - he left and went to Good Sam). Now my daughter has been re-ended and same story - State Farm: "pay us your deductible and we'll get your car fix or file claim with the car that hit you". I am so disgusted with these people. I am just at a point where they can just sit there wondering where my monthly payment is - they sure aren't working for it. Everyone on this string is complaining; has anyone been successful in getting their car repaired without paying the deductible? I'm going to try to reach their corporate office and the State of California Insurance Commission dept. This is wrong!

I have recently changed residence from New Jersey to New York State. My State Farm agent in New Jersey was of no help to us at all. Whenever I called she was never available or never returned our calls. The receptionist always told us she was not available until I told the secretary I was going to call corporate to let them know I was paying for an agent that was not responding to our needs, she miraculously got on the phone immediately. However, moving to New York state and changing all the documentation was another nightmare. Our agent is in Lake Katrine and we are trying to find out why our premiums are so high and put into high tiers. No good explanation.
I have 2 windshield claims in the past few years, one I was shot at on the garden state parkway and another from a piece of flying debris on the NYS thruway. My Dodge Caravan was hit with a flying tire from a truck on Route 80 in New Jersey. Could have been worse if I swerved over to the other lanes possibly causing a fatal accident. Why am I being penalized for this claim? I will be shopping for a New Insurance carrier.

I called in January 2015 and got a quote. I was quoted at around $110 for both auto and renters insurance. I got my cards and insurance information in the mail and it was all good. Both January and February I was charged for the amount I was told, but come March, I get a charge of $142. I was confused and called. I was told since it was after hours, I would need to talk to my agent the next day and they would leave him a voicemail. Well, the next day I don't get a call, so I call them. I get the whole "it's after hours and we'll leave another voicemail." About a week passes and I call again. Finally called during business hours and talk to some lady who says she meant to call me back but hadn't gotten to it and that she would look into it again. I'm frustrated at this point and throughout this whole phone call waiting process I'm getting angry.
Around 6:00 pm that same day, my agent (finally) calls me and explains why I was charged $142. He tells me he made a mistake and that my premium is actually $120 and that the extra $30 for March was them getting what I should have owed the first two months. He admits that it is his fault and insists that I was sent a notice about this but I had never gotten it. They have my number and e-mail, neither of which were used to contact me about this either. He kept apologizing but I kept saying "You made a mistake and now I'm paying more." I was so angry that I told him I felt I shouldn't be paying more than what I agreed to pay because of his mistake. He said, "Well that's what your premium has to be and a quote is not a premium." I had paid two months at my quoted premium. I hang up on him and call the customer hotline and the lady keeps telling me that I need to discuss this with my agent and I have to keep telling her that he's the problem.
She gets her supervisor and she puts in a complaint for me and keeps telling me she can't do anything - only my agent can. At this point I am beyond angry and tell her that I am not going to keep paying for their ** service and she says she has to hang up because of my language. Absolutely horrible customer service and apparently they can change your premium whenever they feel like it. They did not once try to help me get my premium down or say "Since I made the mistake I am going to see what I can do to fix it." Instead they all basically said suck it up and pay the new price because that's what it has to be.

However, I am young and inexperienced (it was my first accident and I was still shaken up from it and worried about how I was going to get to school and work) with how everything works between insurance companies so I decided to call my agent before discussing things with the other driver's insurance company.
A lady answered the phone and did not put me in contact directly with my agent, but instead tried answering my questions, which was fine. However, she was short and cold with me on the phone. She talked down to me and chastised me for not having more coverage (I am a broke college student on my own insurance plan, it is my personal choice). I did not feel comfortable discussing anything with her and after hanging up the phone I felt more stressed and worried. I felt more at ease talking to the other driver's insurance company than I did my own. After some consideration, I think I will be switching car insurances.

I have been a loyal State Farm customer for over 17 years. I made a very bad mistake of changing my agent to Michael Johnson State Farm aka Big Mike in McKinney, Texas. I have a great driving record, no speeding tickets since 1988. I purchased a second car, 2009 Toyota Yaris. When a cousin relocated to the area, I had her to purchase a policy from Michael Johnson State Farm to cover on the car.
Approximately three weeks in Texas, the cousin relocated back to her hometown. I contacted Michael Johnson (Big Mike) alerting him that she no longer resided with me and to move the car to my existing State Farm automobile policy. Michael was so upset that he tried to charge me double the amount of insure a 6 year old car. When I contacted him, he would not return my calls, I got desperate and had to call the 24 call center on Saturday and even after the 24 hour call center contacted him, he still did not initiate a call to me.
I called him again the following Monday and expressed my disbelief in the charges. Since then it appears that Michael Johnson has placed some kind of new codes in State Farms system because since that call of complaint to him, State Farm has increased my rates on my other car (Jeep) when there have been no factors or changes in my driving record or history.
I would not recommend that you have any dealings with this guy. My policy was perfectly fine with State Farm until I let him serve as my agent. If you live in the McKinney, Texas area run in the opposite direction perhaps to Dennis Baker, where I should have stayed. I have been trying to get my policy fixed since the first week of February and he seems to be blocking my progress. Hopefully, State Farm Escalated Team will expedite my complaint, otherwise, I will have to seek a new insurance company for my multi-car and home.

First off, I pay my insurance every month right out of my checking account just like most people out there. State Farm always has my money, so in my time of need I am denied help. When is enough enough? I had a truck stolen almost a year ago now and I am still arguing with state farm about taking care of it for me. State Farm has sent me a letter saying they are not denying my claim but cannot go any further until I cooperate with them even more. I think that at this point in everything my rights to keep certain things private are being violated. I feel like state farm is just playing games because they don’t want to pay out on a truck claim. First off I declined to sign the authorization letter letting state farm have free roam at what ever they wanted, I felt that was a violation of my rights.
In return I offered to retrieve documents for state farm if they gave me a specific list of what they wanted. I worked hard to get what they wanted and said they needed. (Even though I felt half of the stuff was not needed for them to look into the matter) Even after all this I was asked to come in for a examination under oath. This took several months due to my work schedule and me working out of town most of the time in the oilfield. I was very unhappy when I went into finally do the e.u.o. I spent almost two hours there and was not hardly asked anything about the theft or the truck, instead I was drilled about bills at home and past stuff in my life that had nothing to do with anything, this was very sensitive talk and it upset me a lot. They had no right asking some of the questions they did.
When my time was up I had to go, had to be back on location 2 hours away to prevent losing a contract for work. After months of state farm asking for more info and trying to reschedule the rest of the e.u.o. we finally meet again, I again brought with me more info they said they needed. This meeting did not last very long because I walked out and feeling like I was being bullied by the att. and the investigator from state farm. Then expected me to remember exact conversations from almost a year before that I had had on the phone. After me explaining I didn’t remember I was asked several more times before I got mad and walked out.
I have requested state farm make a decision with the info they have and they just send me a letter saying it’s not denied but waiting on me. I feel like State Farm is allowed to go too far when it comes these types of things. I am still paying on a truck I no longer have, and I still pay state farm every month but am currently shopping for new insurance.

I have an elderly female acquaintance that had a private property accident. She hit a building post while parking her 1999 Ford. Damage consisted of a headlight, fender and grille. She had no prior claims. Local agent sent claim onto the adjuster who totaled the vehicle. Repair shop told her parts were unavailable. Adjuster advised her it would cost more to repair than what the car was worth. They then just ignored her repeated calls for information, alternatives or advice. Local agent of probably 40 plus years was on vacation. Secretary further advised it was out of their hands and with the adjuster. No personal service. Why have a local agent?
After waiting several weeks, the elderly lady called upon a female acquaintance employee at the dealership where the elderly lady had many dedicated years of service performed there. The dealership lady and advocate for the elderly lady, spoke to the repairman and to no surprise, the parts are now available and the car is going to be repaired. But the elderly lady is afraid her car insurance will be canceled so she canceled her claim with State Farm. The repair shop had called me stating that StateFarm stated they did not want to pay for Dodge replacement parts but ended up paying for them because other parts could not be found. It took a month before I got my truck back.
After I got my truck back I got a letter in the mail my insurance was cancelled. The accident was not my fault. When you go to see their doctors what a joke. StateFarm’s doctors said I was not hurt bad. But said after some time I could go back to work which I wish were true. After seeing my family doctor I was sent to a specialist **.
** took a look at the films and MRI films said that I had more than one disk that was damaged. The next month I had surgery. After my surgery I was told there was still damage that he could do nothing about. Today I take very strong pain meds and have to take them the rest of my life and had to retire. I to this day have very bad pain from the accident. Well State Farm tried to say there is no such damage and it was not caused from the accident. I keep getting harassing calls from State Farm Insurance telling me they are going to stop paying for my meds and doctor visits.
It’s been over 14 yrs now and they still call and harass me. I did nothing wrong. Some days I can hardly walk. State Farm said that I did not need the surgery and I shouldn't have had to take the meds this long. When you get mad your muscles tighten up when that happens to me it causes my pain to increase. In the last year I have seen the specialist because my pain has gotten bad after a spinal tap and ex ray I was told there is nothing that can be done that the damage to my disks in my neck have gotten worse. And state Farm has not paid for any tests for a long time. I have contacted my State rep and they are seeing what can be done. If everyone would contact your State rep maybe after enough people complain something can be done who knows. But like I said I still get harassing calls and letters in the mail trying to get me to quit.
Unreal isn't it? Their doctor during a visit had ask me to bend backward as far as I could so I did. State farms doctor put his left hand on my left hip his right hand on my right shoulder and jerk me backward further than I should have. State Farm’s doctor had hurt me bad. After that he left the room and hid. Now this was done not long after my surgery. I told my doctor and specialist what happened and they were not happy campers. Because the specialist and my family doctor said "do not let anyone grab and jerk you" because there is a chance I could be hurt bad.
Plus I was told if I did not have the surgery I would have been paralyzed and State Farm said I did not need the surgery and they did not pay for it. And stopped paying me and ruined my credit which took me a long time to repair and now they are still harassing me saying they are going to stop all payments. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. If anyone has a story like mine please tell your State rep and report it. I live in hell every day with this pain.

Had to wait 5 days to get the report from a prominent town in the State of Texas because their policy is to post the accident report on the State of Texas' Website which means there is a convoluted approval trail to get it there. While waiting on the report, contacted the Police Department responsible and given one of the driver's involved who hit our vehicle (it was a 3 car accident). Called the insured which turned out to be State Farm and they denied the claim. Two days later I was able to retrieve the report and found out the driver who hit the driver who hit us was also insured by State Farm. Another call to State Farm and lots of bumbling and passing off from 1 agent to another. Already not happy.
Finally get the car in the shop 10 days later and my new car is sitting on the lot the day I take it in. Told State Farm I wanted the difference in the diminished value since I had proof I had already sold my car... of course the fish tailing started then. 13 days later the back door of the Highlander repaired and the offer to buy down $1000. Dutifully send in the paperwork and I call two days later. Told it can take 10 days before anyone calls me back and THEN the agent has the stupidity to tell me sometimes repairing a person's car makes the value increase! I told him my car was exactly 6 months old and that I had never seen where the value of the car increased since the advent of CarFax and that if they wanted to play games I would hire a lawyer. I lost a $1000 worth of value in 3 days to the stupidity of a State Farm insured driver who was looking over to the Feeder road at a boat instead of the cars in front of him. He was ticketed after all.

When I see companies with just negative reviews, it makes me want to leave a review to shed some positive things out there. I have been with ** at State Farm for 5 years and never had to file a claim until a month ago. I have been getting excellent rates since a young age with them. I was rear ended with someone by American Family Mutual. State Farm immediately started the process with State Farm since I did not know the other party's insurance company until later. State Farm put me in a rental car, and we ended up settling on a fair amount that my vehicle was worth. I worked with ** with State Farm and she kept in communication via E-mail with me and extended my rental car out past my policy limits. The other company then reimbursed State Farm and paid for my medical and some of my loss wages. Everyone is happy in the end and no legal ever had to get involved.

I am very disappointed in the State Farm's customer service pertaining to my claim and total loss. I was mislead and lied to about what would be covered and reimbursed. My AUX didn't work in the car I had insured so I had a an iphone adapter installed. Unfortunately, my car was totaled. I was told once submitted a receipt for the install I would be reimbursed.
I asked several times if I could take the car to a reputable place that was less than a mile away to take my iphone adapter out of the car. State Farm denied my request and told me to submit a receipt and I would be reimbursed. I reiterated, "I will be reimbursed?" The representative assured me and this was a lie!!! They refuse to reimburse me after they assured me it would be taken care of.
Now that the car has been moved their suggestion is for me to travel 1.5 hours away with a mechanic which is completely outrageous. That would cost me 3x as much as it would to just buy another unit. State Farm lied and took advantage of the situation which left me short. I am not only disappointed but also truly disgusted in their practices. Time to start looking for a new insurance company. State Farm cannot be trusted!

In May of 2013, I purchased a restored, vintage motorcycle and insured it for full coverage with my State Farm Agent, **. Prior to this, I had been a State Farm customer with this office since 2003. I am a good driver with a multi-vehicle policy. On July 13, 2013, my motorcycle broke down. I called State Farm emergency roadside assistance provider Roadside America. Roadside America sent one of their contract towing companies to pick me up.
I rode with the tow truck driver back to my house with another motorcycle rider who had broken down nearby me and who the tow truck had also picked up. The tow truck driver attempted to unload my motorcycle from his flatbed truck by riding it backwards off the ramp. I was new to motorcycles and did not know this was the wrong way to unload a motorcycle. While riding it backwards, the tow driver slipped on an oily spot on the truck's bed, lost control of the motorcycle whereupon it rolled from the bed onto the street and crashed. Prior to this, my motorcycle was in spotless, pristine condition with not a scratch on it. After this incident, my motorcycle's chrome and fairing were heavily scratched and damaged on the entire right side.
I filed a claim with State Farm the next day and a police report the next. My eye witness saw the whole thing and provided her contact information so State Farm and the police could get her statement. The police report stated the accident was a collision and I was not at fault because I was not in control of my motorcycle at the time of collision, the tow truck driver was. My motorcycle sustained $2250 worth of damage and required 3 months in the shop to fix. My State Farm Agent ** assured me after I provided her the police report that State Farm considered this no-fault since I was not in control of my motorcycle at the time. ** assured me State Farm would pursue collecting damages from the tow company and that I would be reimbursed my deductible, which State Farm told me I was required to pay, if they were able to collect from the tow company.
In August 2013 WHILE my motorcycle was still in the shop, I received a letter from State Farm informing me that my insurance policy for it was scheduled to be cancelled. I immediately called ** because I was required to have full coverage because the motorcycle was financed and since my then husband was a state trooper, not having insurance was not an option. She informed me that I could ignore the letter because it was automatically generated when my brother, who lived with me and was on my policy, sold his car. She told me my policy was not going to be cancelled.
Two months later, I was informed by my lien-holder AND the DMV that the insurance had been cancelled in August as the State Farm form letter said. This was completely unexpected and unbeknownst to me because I had been paying my premiums and was reassured by ** to ignore the letter. I called ** and demanded an explanation. She didn't have one. Instead, she advised me that it must have been a mistake at corporate because, according to her records, I still was insured. I told her that my lien holder AND the DMV thought otherwise so she had better provide them with the appropriate documentation by the close of that business day. She told me she was very sorry about the mix-up and that she would take care of it. Shortly after this, my insurance payment adjusted upward. I had a multi-vehicle policy and assumed something had been adjusted, but didn't seek the precise reason at the time.
State Farm advised me in early 2014 that they were unable to collect from the tow company and therefore could not reimburse me my deductible. Fast forward to March 9, 2015. I discovered today that someone in ** office changed the address of my ex-husband to my address and sent his insurance cards to me. This is the second time this has happened; I advised the office staff of their error the first time. In addition to a general dissatisfactory experience since 2013 BESIDES the awful trauma of having their stupid contract tow driver wreck my motorcycle, I decided that I would find another company to insure my motorcycles. I called GEICO, gave them my information, and got an excellent quote. I advised the agent I'd had 1 collision in the last five years when I'd backed into someone while trying to parallel-park.
Then, a terrible shock. The GEICO agent checked the Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange and informed me that State Farm had filed my motorcycle's damage by the tow driver on 07/13/13 as a COLLISION UNDER ME AS AN AT-FAULT ACCIDENT ON THEIR RECORDS!!! Furthermore, because of this, GEICO would have to charge me more than what they originally. Surprisingly the exact same amount for the exact same coverage I am now paying State Farm!!! I have been paying a higher rate TO State Farm because of this for over a year and a half! Furthermore, this affects the rate I pay to insure my other vehicles.
This is ABSOLUTELY UNCONSCIONABLE. Perhaps the other pile of screw-ups I've had with my insurance since 2013 that ** office is responsible for may be due to incompetence, but this... THIS was done with malevolent intent. I guarantee I'm going to pursue this complaint until I have completely exhausted ALL avenues of complaint outlet. I'm going to report it to the state insurance commission, Better Business Bureau, and any other applicable organizations as well as consumer satisfaction websites. Do NOT do business with this State Farm Agent ** because you will, eventually, get shafted. I am so angry about this that if ** were in my presence at this moment, I'd find it exceptionally challenging not to spit in her face.

On 2/19/15 around 6:45PM, a 20 year-old young woman, **, made a quick hard left turn as I was driving straight in the right hand lane, and she caused a minor collision. I say minor because I pushed my breaks to the floor when she turned right in front of me. I minimized an otherwise much greater impact. ** was driving her boyfriend's car which has no insurance, but she has a State Farm's policy on another car. I reported to my own insurance carrier that night. My insurance adjuster, **, reported the claim to State Farm two days later. ** said I can call State Farm for the claims status. When I called, they had done nothing yet.
On 2/28/15 at 11:30 AM, ** from State Farm Claim called me and recorded my deposition. He said he would find out if State Farm can cover ** for the car she was driving. He said he thinks there is coverage and will call me possibly Monday morning, 3/2/2015. He did not call and I didn't hear from State Farm the following week, and I called in to check on the status. I was told it's still being reviewed. Someone else from State Farm, **, I couldn't make it out, left me a phone message on Fri, 3/6/2015. He said State Farm has not talked to their insured, **. He said State Farm is not sure if the car driven would be covered by **'s policy. He suggests that I go through my own insurance company to have my car repair done, for State Farm does not know how long the review process will take. He said State Farm makes no guarantee that they will accept liability for this claim.
On my own car insurance policy, I have a $500 deductible on physical damage coverage, and I have no rental car coverage. For these reasons, I need State Farm to accept their insured driver's liability. This accident was not my fault, and I did not do anything wrong and did not cause this accident. Why should I pay a $500 deductible and pay for a rental car while my car is being repaired? I thought this is why the law requires every driver to be insured and meet the minimum financial responsibility.
I feel State Farm is dragging their feet and avoiding liability on my claim. They pass my claim from person to person. When I call them to check on the status, I have not talk to the same person twice; it's always someone who knows nothing about my claim. I need State Farm to step up to cover their insured driver ** in good faith and repair my car. The repair estimate is only $748.10 plus 2-3 days of a rental car for my husband to drive to work. My insurance adjuster ** said she can get me a rental car at $15.50 a day; I don't know if it includes the taxes and fees.

To all current State Farm policy holders and those considering switching to State Farm Insurance: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING. This is a true account of what transpired starting on October 20, 2014 on Shoreline Blvd. Corpus Christi, Texas in the early evening. My son who is a member of our Armed Forces was driving back to base when the right front tire of his car, a Veloster Turbo, struck a construction pot hole approx. 18 inches deep that was not marked without any warning signs being posted. The car bottomed out so hard that the tire left marks inside the wheel well. The oil pan and car's framework had scar marks and dents. Also, the right side windshield cracked. Further damage included the bottom of the turbo inter-cooler being bent and the the bottom of the fender housing had road gravel jammed into it. What we did not know at the time was that the turbo wastegate assembly had pulled loose.
After this road collision, the car went into limp mode and my son was able to get back to base only 5 miles away. The next day, he started the car and was on his way to the Hyundai dealership to have the car checked. He drove approx. 1 mile from base at about 30 miles an hour, when the wastegate assembly came loose and one of its hoses fell on the spinning CV axle and was ripped off the car. This caused the Turbo to boost out of control and before he could shut the car down, it blew a connecting rod through the engine block. He then proceeded to contact State Farm and was instructed to take it to one of their Gold service repair centers. For 2 weeks we waited for the engine to be replaced and thought everything was fine. On the third week I receive a call from the repair shop saying that State Farm had cancelled the claim and would not pay for repairs.
We waited another week while the car was being put back together. When we then received the Hyundai back, it had not been put back together properly. State Farm then informed me that it was not their problem. The reason they gave for refusing the claim is that they said they had never seen this kind of damage before and said it was not possible to have happened. We took the vehicle to a second ASE-certified repair shop for an estimate at our expense. Their report stated the pothole caused all the damage to the engine. We submitted this report along with pictures of the damage and a download from the cars ECU which showed turbo wastegate failure.
It took them 3 more weeks to deny the claim a second time for the same reasons. The cost to replace the engine with a used one parts and labor is $6800.00 plus the cost of a new windshield. Also we have had to pay approx. $650.00 for the use of a rental car for my son. Is this the way that State Farm treats its customers that serve to protect their freedom to do do business?

I signed up with State Farm because the name seemed to be one that I could trust. My insurance was almost $230 a month for 2 cars and the worst possible coverage that I could get. After a few months of paying this ridiculous bill I started talking to some of my coworkers and family members and realized how bad I was getting screwed over. I called the insurance company and they told me that the reason that my bill was so high is because of my ex-wife's driving record who was not even listed on my insurance policy!
I told the agent that my ex-wife's driving record should not have anything to do with my insurance premium. The agent told me that they would look into it and then call me back. I got a call back about 10 minutes later and they told me that it was not because of my ex-wife's driving record but instead because of a very minor fender bender that I had a year prior (the only accident I have had been responsible for in 16 years!). I was told by the agent that State Farm is not the best insurance to have if I have any infractions on my record over the past 3 years.
I told the agent that I would search for insurance elsewhere. I called around and got some insurance quotes that were literally half the cost for twice the coverage. I then called State Farm back to cancel my insurance policy before my account was charged. It was the 14th at 4:50 PM, the local office was closed so I was transferred to a corporate office. I was then told that the local office had to close my account but an urgent request would be put in for me. So the 15th (Saturday) came and my account was charged anyways. I called on the 17th and told them that I wanted my money refunded. The agent told me that they would have to send out a check and it could take up to 14 days!
Things to know before getting insured with State Farm: Local Agents seem to run everything. My agents worked Monday - Friday, 9 - 5. If you need to get something solved outside of those hours, good luck! You are on their schedule, they are not on your! They can take your money electronically, but they cannot give you your money back the same way. Unless you have a perfect driving record they are extremely expensive!

Finally a woman came out and did her thing and then told me there is a hold up on my claim that I have to call in to get an explanation. I called and they were willing to release my external damage payment sent out but they need some adjuster to look at the damage I have and she advised that I send in pictures. I sent in the pictures and received a call from this adjuster whom told me that they will not pay for the damage of my ac unit coming out of the dash from the hit and my compass not working from the hit.

My husband and I have been State Farm customers for years. A few years ago our agent retired and was replaced by someone out of State. From day one the new agent hounded us for more coverage, investments, etc. About a year ago I received a call saying my home needed to be inspected and he needed photos of my home. I asked him why we needed a new inspection. I was told because we had a homeowners claim from lightning running in on our lines and it had flagged our account. So I asked him because I am a stay home mother and I didn't know him well if he could please call me and let me know when he was coming. Months went by, almost a year and he called me on a Saturday wanting to come out for photos again. I didn't hear back from him again so I assumed it had been done. This was toward the end of the year last year.
In January I received another call wanting to come take photos. The call came on the one year anniversary of a death of one of my family members. I told her he could come but I would appreciate if he waited until the following week because this was a hard week on my family. I never heard back from them. Until about three weeks ago, I get a call from someone in his office. They left a very personal message on my voice mail that was intended for another customer. I called her back to find out if they had mixed our phone numbers up and they had. I found out he now has all new staff and we know none of the new people. So we decided to find a new agent.
A few days after I called him and requested a transfer to a new agent I get a letter in the mail stating my homeowners policy would not be renewed. The reason being, because they were unable to obtain photos of my home. When I spoke to him he admitted my paperwork was laying on his desk and he was planning on getting around to getting photos. He didn't do his job, so my insurance was dropped. He had over a year to get this done. This is how they treat long time customers. My new agent is trying to get it corrected, but there is no guarantee my insurance will be renewed.

In late Nov (2014), I stopped using my perfectly good 2004 VW Jetta, simply because My tags were up and I needed a smog check. For one reason or another I didn't get back to it until January 2015. When I did I was horrified to find my car soaked and covered in mold. Of course the first thing I did was call the insurance. They picked up the vehicle the next day. It took them a whole month to inspect it and finally they called me back and told me my car was a total loss and that it would be covered under water damage. The claim adjuster I initially spoke to told me she just needed to review the case one more time with the inspector and would get back to me.
The following week I get a call from Kim **, who happens to be a completely rude and aggressive claim handler. She told me that my car would NOT be covered because the policy does not cover mold/fungi. I was confused because initially I was told that the inspection revealed "water damage" in which they found a "water line" which indicated that the car had been flooded with water. Of course, I am disappointed because I have been paying "full coverage" for this vehicle since 2004. Yet, they will not cover my vehicle because I did not report it before there was any mold. She indicated that this exclusion is noted in form 9805B on page 22.
Interesting enough I still have the original documents I received when I opened my policy with SF in 2012, in which I was given notice of form 9805A. Apparently the new form (9805B) came in January 2013. I guess we are all suppose to stay updated with their policy changes and we are subject to them. Also, there is no such thing as "full coverage" - the insurance companies will always find any way to not pay!! I refuse to give them more of my hard earned money. I will be looking for another insurance company.

Approximately 2 weeks later it was towed to a salvage lot. It sat outside in salvage lot in the rain, etc. for a month. A month later someone finally contacted me to find out where I wanted it REPAIRED. 2 weeks after that it was towed, it was towed to a dealership and although it was stripped no roof, doors, seats, console, battery, spare, fender and hood damage. They were still insisting they were going to repair it.
It has now been sitting at the dealership for over a month. I have been without a vehicle for over 4 months. I was only offered $35 a day towards a rental for the first 30 days. I finally am seeking new insurance so I do not have to spend all my time on the phone fixing these issues. These people get paid to do this. State Farm's excuse was that they recently hired inexperienced and new Underwriters. The bad thing about that is if they report the mismanaged information to your credit then it is very difficult to get removed, and even the Underwriter who reported it has a hard time removing it. I am anxious to see how they apologize to me this time. I pay them to manage my insurance. Instead I have had to manage it, fight to fix their mistakes and more. When you pay a company like this good money then you expect good service. Thumbs down for State Farm.

The cop came did the report and the woman came over to me and stated she was sorry that she wasn't paying attention. I called her insurance company cause they called my husband that since it was me driving that they needed to talk to me on what happened.
I told them it's plain and simple she's at fault and got the ticket. I have a brain tumor I told them and that was the day 35 min I had to go for my treatment and I had to miss it due to all this stress. I asked for a rental and this man was so so so rude and wanted to argue with me. I am so stressed out you think that they would be some what nice to the other person that THEIR person that they insured be kind. He wants to argue. After reading many of these reviews, it is glaringly obvious State Farm has without doubt one of, if not the most incompetent, staffs/employees in the insurance industry today. My only hope is one of their VPs takes note of these boards and does something to correct it, because I'm certain they are unaware of how dire the situation has become for there to be this many complaints versus other carriers. That said, it does however also explain the onslaught of advertising the last few years from a company who seldom, if ever, advertised previously. The name always spoke for itself. I do however find myself howling with uproarious laughter every time I hear a commercial about reduced rates when mine keep going up. I am paying over $1,000 year for liability only on a vehicle that is also over 20 years old. I am a single middle-aged female with no claims.
My story however, is completely different from what I have read here in that they PAID a claim that had absolutely no merit or warrant. It would take quite some time to explain, but the bottom line is a woman fell off her bicycle and I was kind enough to call the authorities on her behalf. The officer asked if I had hit her or had any contact with her and when I explained that I had NOT, he instructed me to LEAVE at once. There was a bicyclist behind her who verified that I was not involved and again, he yelled at me to GET OUT OF THERE. Here, I thought he was a lazy cop not wanting to do his job until 3 months later, when the woman sued me claiming I had in fact hit her.
She changed her story five times and yet State Farm still paid the claim. Her deposition lasted 5 hours and State Farm's attorney stated she was the most pathetic person they'd ever encountered. She talked about her failed relationships and sex life. My deposition lasted all of 20 minutes - that's how cut-and-dried the incident was. She fell off her bicycle and I called 911. Her injuries were caused by the rate of speed she was traveling at when she fell. To say I was incensed with rage would be a severe understatement. You could hear me yelling in Russia. I was so irate. They kept saying they did it to protect me when in fact I have no assets and the sheer beauty of her claim. I'm retired living on SS.
In fact, the day I was served I immediately contacted NJ Division of Insurance Fraud who took the case. If it had no merit, they would've never gotten involved. That was State Farm's ace in the hole if she continued to pursue her false claim. She would go to jail. Instead, they paid her a whopping $150,000 and she sued her own insurance company after State Farm paid her and collected another hundred grand. I'm seething just thinking about all of this again. She walked away with $250,000 after stating she was traveling between 25-30 mph when she lost control of her bicycle. There was no accident report and instead an INCIDENT report because my vehicle nor I wasn't involved and yet they PAID HER CLAIM. You just don't find this level of incompetence on a greater scale or she knew someone at State Farm who was in cahoots with her. There was not a scintilla of evidence to support her claim.
This is precisely why the officer screamed at me to leave the scene after I told him I was not involved. He too damn well knew she would sue me. I later found out through others in the insurance industry that bicyclists are the number one FALSE CLAIMS. These imbeciles riding around in their spider man costumes on congested roads. I was LIVID because this is exactly why there is rampant insurance fraud in this country and why people DO NOT STOP when someone is hurt. I know I will never do it again which is just so sad. Not only did I stop to call the police, the first car on the scene was a nurse who helped her as well. I wonder if she sued her too!

On January 18th several friends and I got on our motorcycles and were enjoying a beautiful day riding. All of that came to an end when a man in a pickup pulled out of a parking lot into the lane we were traveling in. Luckily most of the riders in my group were able to avoid the pickup. Unfortunately, in my efforts to avoid the pickup my motorcycle skidded out from under me and put me on the ground at approximately 40mph. I was very fortunate to escape serious injury. I received numerous abrasions, bruises, and one dislocated and lacerated finger.
As it turned out, there were numerous witnesses of the accident who gave statements to the police officer investigating the accident and gave their contact information to one of my friends in case I needed their statements later. I was feeling pretty good when I got a copy of the accident report and read where the investigating officer determined the driver failed to yield and caused me to crash my bike. Then I noticed the driver was insured by State Farm. Good thing, right? WRONG!!!
The claims agent assigned to my claim has been nothing but rude, argumentative, deceptive, and uncooperative. With several witness accounts and a police report all claiming the driver of the pickup being at fault, State Farm insists their client did nothing wrong. The agent has demanded witness information and evidence so she can determine fault. Well, I decided I would try to deal with her. It was easy enough for me to email pictures, a list of witnesses with contact information, as well as a list of my injuries and damage to my bike.
I waited a while and heard nothing back from State Farm. One day I sent another email asking if there had been any progress with her investigation. Approximately two and a half hours later she emailed me back stating she had contacted witnesses and mailed forms to me that would help me get an estimate of damage to my bike. Later two witnesses call saying they had received messages asking them to call her and give a recorded statement. Of course they had received those messages just prior to the email she sent me. Both witnesses have continued to try contacting her in order to give their statements with no success. They have described this as phone tag.
It is a shame that when good people are willing to do the right thing, a company like State Farm will plays games and treats those people with such disrespect. Also, the helpful forms, the agent mailed 3 days after her email, were merely a letter stating that State Farm still was not accepting responsibility, but I had the right to have an estimate of damage to my motorcycle done at a shop of my choice. Taken directly from the consumer bill of rights.
I have been driving vehicles of various kinds for 40 years and have been fortunate that it has been many years since I have needed to file any kind of insurance claims. Going through a less than pleasant experience trying to do business with State Farm helps me understand just how fortunate I have been. Lessons Learned: if you are ever involved in an accident with someone insured by State Farm, make sure you get contact information from as many witnesses you can. Take as many pictures of the scene as you can. Gather evidence as if you were going into court. You will need it if you think State Farm is going to accept responsibility. Never expect that they will do the right thing!

I had an auto accident on 10/01/14. I was sitting at a full stop, in a turn lane with my blinker on, I waited approximately 15-20 seconds before it was clear for me to make my turn. I started to turn from the turn lane into a business and this crazy woman came from behind me, into the oncoming traffic and hit me while I was turning, forcing me back into the turn lane. State Farm says it's my fault that I actually turned from the far left lane in front of the woman (I don't know what drugs State Farm reps are doing but apparently it makes them delusional). I asked for a accident recreation specialist and was told, "No we're not paying for that." Then they went so far as to ask me to do THEIR job for them by going to the surrounding businesses and asking about video cameras. To which they got told "NO, your job, you do it."
But to make matters worse, I submitted a complaint with the state and they LIED to the state and said they went and spoke to the surrounding businesses. (I know they didn't because I WENT TO THOSE BUSINESSES AND HAVE EACH MANAGER ON VIDEO.... stating they have never NEVER heard from or spoken to State Farm.) Needless to say I'm filing a lawsuit and now I'm going to ask for more than my car fixed since they want to lie, cheat and steal, they can pay for my court costs, time lost from work, emotional distress, mental distress, car rental for 5 MONTH, yep 5 months it takes them to lie to the state... good luck State Farm, explain it to the judge, I'm sure that Knoxville TN would love to hear them explain how it took 5 months for them to not DO ANYTHING.

Just recently got State Farm, and it was a complete step down on service and convenience. No insurance company in general are a pleasure to talk to, but at least with Esurance, Geico, even Liberty Mutual they were much better when it came to convenience of using their site, getting in touch with them, via email or calls. State Farm, you have to always call the office located near to you to get any answers on your policy. The main hotline the reps don't know a single thing about your account, and they just tell you already something you know, that is to call the agent who "started your policy!" I mean really?!
This is poor service for such a big company. And my agent is so unpleasant when it came time to changing my policy. I don't like having to deal with talking over the phone, but even when I email asking him questions, he doesn't seem to want to clarify. It's almost a burden for him to have to deal with me. That's why I prefer to do everything online, but their website is awful, and the policyholder has to call it in every time. They won't allow any other person to access the account, even with permission! It's almost ancient!

My wife was involved in a car accident on December 20, 2014 with a State Farm customer. The Omaha police department was called and the driver that rear ended our pickup was sited at fault. We contacted our insurance agent to make him aware of what had happened and he contacted the State Farm claims team that was working on our claim. Our agent was told that in regards to claim ** that if we agreed to have the repairs done at Inter-tech collision repair we would not be required to send State Farm an estimate before the body shop could start working on repairs to our pickup and our agent was also informed that if Inter-tech felt that if our car seats needed to be replaced that State Farm would allow for them to be replaced.
Our pickup was taken to Inter-tech on January 6, 2015 to have the repairs started and the work was completed by January 8, 2015. After talking with the body shop manager he agreed that due to the severity of damage to our pickup that the car seats that we had should be replaced. The manager stated that he had called the State Farm claims team and had advised them of his position on our car seats and advised that they be replaced because of the liability of using a damaged car seat. On January 12, 2015 we contacted the Intertech body shop manager and requested that he email a written statement of what his position was on the replacement of our car seats to our insurance agent.
On January 16, 2015, Molly from the State Farm claims team contacted my wife and informed her that they would replace our car seats and that we would need to forward them a receipt of the purchase to be reimbursed. Then, on January 22, 2015 Kevin from the State Farm claims team contacted my wife and informed her that they would not be replacing our car seats because the body shop had not indicated that there was damage to the car seats. My wife informed Kevin that we had been told previously that State Farm would pay to replace our car seats and questioned why they had changed their mind. Kevin asked for Mollys name so that he could speak with her about her phone call to my wife. Kevin called my wife back on January 23, 2015 stating that he was not sure why Molly would have told her they would replace our car seats when it is not their policy to do so and again informed my wife that they would not be covering any replacement car seats for our vehicle.
We feel that State Farm initially was on the right path when they told us multiple times that they would replace our car seats due to the accident. My wife and I are extremely frustrated not only in the fact that we were lied to by the State Farms claims team in which they agreed to replace our car seats and by the rude treatment from Kevin in the conversation he had with my wife on the phone, but also by the lack of regard to child safety by not following the manufacturer guidelines in regards to car seat replacement after an accident. My wife and I hope that we never have to deal with State Farm in the future and will make sure our friends and family are aware how ridiculously State Farm has handled our claim.

I have been with this company for over 20 years. My first accident was over 8 years ago, did a considerable amount of damage as a woman stopped in the middle of the street, thinking it was a parking lot. I t-boned her, choosing that versus a ditch with a telephone /electric pole or pushing the car next to me into oncoming traffic. I was behind a car that had a flat on the highway, it's hubcap flying into my car, with windshield and scratches down the front of my vehicle. I had one accident my fault, 8 years later. I was told that they would drop me with any more.
I sustained injuries with the second accident. I went thru PT for several months, in 2012. In 2014, my injuries acted up and I needed PT again. I called at least 8 times to get ahold of the person handling my claim. I am supposedly covered for life for the injury. I started treatment as I was in severe pain. I finally got ahold of her supervisor, and was able to someone about my claim. I am now being told that because I was not seeking rx for a year, my injuries are considered "healed". Despite my PT and doctors telling me that my injuries are r/t my accident they still refuse my claim. Retha in the Kalamazoo main office has to be the worst. I leave multiple messages with no call back. I have threatened to contact my attorney to help, as they are clearly shrugging off their duties. I am not driving at the time, they screwed that up too...needless to say, I am not going back to this poor excuse of an insurance.

State Farm has been the cheapest insurance for me. My state farm agent is located in Morgantown, Pa. The man that has been handling my insurance needs is Doug. When I first started he always tried to find me the best deals and call me in every couple of months to see what better deals I could get. Over the past couple of months that has all stopped. He never cares to find out what I need anymore or call me in for appointments. I feel like I was totally shafted. This makes me not want to give my business to State Farm any more. I am currently going to look into another State Farm location that is closer to me with people that care more about their clients. If the same thing happens I will move on to another insurance company.
I was recently in a minor accident where my car slid from the ice and hit a curb. I put a claim in and they set me up with Hertz rental on Lancaster avenue to get me a rental car while mine was being fixed. A couple days went by and my mechanic heard nothing from State Farm, so I called them. They tell me, "Oh we're sorry your claim wasn't fully processed. We hadn't fully submitted it." So now Hertz is calling my phone continuously wondering what is going on with my car.
State Farm finally sent someone out and then when they paid the money the shop needs another week to get my car fixed because of the delay with the money. I will be furious if I am billed for the longer time my car is in the shop from Hertz rental or even my insurance goes up because of it for some reason. I need a car, there's no two ways about it, and I pay the extra insurance for reasons like this when I would need a rental car. If my claim would have went through the day I submitted it I wouldn't be so harassed by Hertz rental. If my insurance company cared a little more they might be able to help me with the problems I have been having or better yet apologize for the delay.

Involved in an accident. Totally fault of other individual who also has State Farm. Wife injured and required surgery and PT. From the day we reported accident to today.15 months later, not enough adjectives to express our anger, frustration and shock on the entire experience of dealing with State Farm agent thru claims. 15 months later, this claim still not settled.
First, we had to go through 4-5 different claims people just to report accident. We have timely done all the leg work and sent documents numerous times since their system of getting info is antiquated and totally ambivalent to their customers. Second, in the entire time from day 1 of reporting accident, our agent, Karen ** has never made one phone call to us nor in any way acted as an advocate for us with State Farm. I have/had been with Karen **, State Farm agent for almost 30 years with all my insurance: auto, 2 homes, umbrella policies. The communication from the final State Farm claims agent given our case has been nothing short of terrible. Again, accident was totally not our fault and the other party causing accident is also insured by State Farm. On surface, this seems a no-brainer in managing this claim quickly, effectively and fairly... no way that has been done.
Learnings: My former State Farm agent Karen ** cares nothing about her customers. She only cares about selling and collecting money. Second, I have always thought State Farm was a premier insurance agency who took care of their customers and did it quickly and fairly. This is not so in any way. I would dare State Farm to hire an outside consultant to come in and objectively review their business practices, the standards they hold their agents to and finally, the efficiency and effectiveness of their entire claim resolution processes and communication. They won't do this because they know they will fail miserably, yet just don't care. If you are with State Farm, suggest you terminate them and your agent immediately and find an insurance company with true credibility. If you're not with State Farm, don't go with them. I don't believe my situation is unique. I do believe this is what others experience as well.

Well long story short, but still long. We left many many years of excellent service with Allstate due to a phone call from State Farm informing us that we could save a great deal of money with insurance through them. We reluctantly switched needing to save some money at that particular time. When signing up we found out to receive the great quote we had to sign up for life insurance policies for both of our insured sons. Now we already had life insurance through my husband's plant, but to keep the price quoted we agreed.
The first year and a half were ok, but we didn't need anything. Then when we had questions or wanted to change vehicles and get quotes, or notify them of good grades with our sons for discounts, the lack of returning emails or phone calls was very bothersome, but we dealt with it. Something we had never had to deal with when we were with Allstate. Then in December of 2014 we wanted to move our policies to a closer office and maybe receive more prompt service from another office. Now being an excellent customer with no tickets, no accidents and great payment record you would think that this task would be a simple one.
We requested once by phone and three weeks passed and we heard nothing, then we went into the office very frustrated at this time and requested a transfer in person, another week passed and nothing!! I will say that while we were in that office, a person came in that had just been involved in an accident and she was not taken to an office for assistance. She was abruptly asked whose fault was it in the front reception office, and basically just dissed to call claims and there was nothing further they could do for her. Well that was icing on the cake per say..
I contacted the new office we wanted to transfer to and at first a staff member was very understanding, then upon talking to the agent of that office it was revealed that we would not be treated any better, and that in fact I was now being treated as the bad guy and he didn't want my business even if that meant us leaving State Farm. My former agent finally got in touch with me in the form of an email which he had never been able to answer before, and then followed up with a phone call; basically condemning me and calling me a liar of accusations of failed communication, but still insisting I stay with him and State Farms.
Are you freakin kidding me??? I kept telling him to cancel and he kept insisting that he wanted our business and pressing me for exact times when we had not been serviced properly, again being treated like the bad guy, and that I was over exaggerating the whole situation. He finally agreed to cancel, but left me totally stressed from just a phone call.. I immediately called Allstate and they listened to the horror I had just been through and showed extreme compassion and knew what kind of customers we had been and were excited to have us back... Please people don't give up quality of service to save a few bucks with State Farm. You will very much live to regret it...

I go to the agent to set this up, only to find out the quote I received online is only if I buy renter's insurance and enroll in auto bill pay. I paid my first month on the 31st and then my next due date was the 16th. Then I call a month later to add a car, I received no discount for having 2 cars and had to put even more money upfront. Needless to say, I should've avoided them once I learned my quote was deceiving and cancelled my policy. Even canceling wasn't easy, customer care couldn't do it and it took the agent forever to call back and confirm. Once she finally did, she was rude. The online site is useless as well, you can't add cars, change anything or cancel policy, you have to contact the agent for everything. With their limited hours, it makes it nearly impossible.

My daughter was tricked and yes TRICKED into signing an auto loan with a $750.00 CREDIT LIABILITY DISCLOSURE. She never asked to INCREASE her AUTO LOAN another $750.00 and was never explained to about this additional amount added into her AUTO LOAN and was never told there would be a $100.00 PENALTY FEE if you pay off your AUTO LOAN EARLY... SERIOUSLY??? She told STATE FARM BANK agent CHRISTINA ** that she was already PRE-APPROVED for an AUTO LOAN and that she did not nor was she interested in taking out a loan through STATE FARM BANK.
The auto dealership insisted she take out this loan in order for her to drive the vehicle home that day. They told her (STATE FARM BANK) that would not be a problem but she would need today to finance the vehicle through them in order to take possession of vehicle. This could have waited until the next day until she went back the check from her CREDIT UNION but they all insisted she finance THAT DAY through them. We will file DECEPTIVE PRACTICES with an Attorney!

My accident occurred in mid-November of 2014. I was driving a fairly new car of 2012 and was currently at a four way intersection, turning left at a green light. The person at fault ran the red light and t-boned my car and hit my left fender/tire and bumper. She pulled her car up the closest parking lot while I slowly dragged my car after her. We both exchanged insurance companies and come to find out, we had the same one: State Farm. My car was immediately towed and taken to the body shop of my choice. I got home, called the claims office and provided the accident information. Everything went smoothly and I received my rental car.
For two weeks, I called every so often to check up on my car. Everything went fine until the fourth week, when I am finally updated about State Farm not doing their job from the get-go. When the mechanic discussed the repairs with estimator, he would agree but when he "approved" and sent over the paperwork to the body shop, the approval repairs were not the same so in turn this is what caused all these delays. The body shop informed me the steering gear for the suspension needed to be newly replaced, and they were just pending state farm to return, which of course had been done but per the approval notes, they were not. So far we're 1.5 months in. The vice president of the body shop himself apologized for the delays and stated that state farm estimator argued with him regarding the steering gear replacement.
The VP stated it would be a safety issue if they were to replace the steering gear with a used piece; the estimator disagreed. To replace with a new part means the amount would total my car. Due to this, there has been a hold on fixing my car; the body shop refused to replace my steering gear with a used piece due to a safety matter. They typed out a statement of refusal and yes, I've filed that for a possible law suit. At this point, I was pretty furious because I have children and if a mechanic is questioning the safety of myself, my kids, it's a red flag! I immediately called the claims office to see what was really going on and why their estimator was questioning the opinion of a mechanic's concern with safety.
They immediately denied everything. I was transferred to the estimator's office who stated that this was not a "make your own policy", it was state farm's policy to reuse 'recycled' pieces due to state farm "going green". He assured me that these 'recycled' pieces are taken from another vehicle similar to mine except a different year, sent to a shop to be checked and verified of it's safety use, and then sent to the body shop for repairs. I did asked what there was to do for myself to receive a new steering gear for my vehicle and also what about my warranty for my car? He stated there was absolutely nothing I could do and that there is an "act" out there that prevents any dealerships from voiding my warranty. The next day, an estimator called and discussed with me regarding replacing the steering gear.
He informed me that I would have to pay the difference in the new steering gear, which would be $800. I stated that this accident was absolutely not my fault, why would I have to pay any money at all to assure that my car is safe to drive? The estimator stated he was sorry but it's per their policy and that I needed to "okay" the used pieces for my car to be repaired. He informed me that state farm provided a life time warranty for the piece they are replacing which would be a great advantage to me. I immediately spoke to the VP of the body shop right after and he informed me that if I were to accept the used steering gear, it would void my warranty and also the "lifetime warranty" state farm guarantees will not cover consequential damages to my car and my current warranty with the dealership will definitely void then also, which means it all falls back on me. At this point, we're two months into this whole situation. An adjuster (Andy) was assigned to my case due to the complications.
Andy called me and stated he just got off the phone with the VP of my chosen body shop and stated it was the "most useless conversation" because all he discussed were litigation laws against State Farm. He attempted to read 15 pages of State Farm policies regarding coverage for vehicles regarding 'recycled' parts. He stated that I would have to pay the difference for the new steering gear. I again said the accident was absolutely no fault of mine, why would I have to pay to ensure the safety of my vehicle? All Andy could do was apologize and attempted to read me more of the state farm policy crap. He did reassure me that there was a lifetime warranty for the recycled piece and that state farm WILL cover consequential damages.
I found that pretty hard to believe. I called my brother (also a mechanic) the next day to assist me with this whole complication. He called Andy to discuss other options, perhaps maybe totaling my car. My brother was forwarded to another adjuster because Andy "was busy". The other adjuster assured my brother that the steering gear will be taken out from the exact same car model and year as mine. My brother, as clever as he is, asked why this adjuster was lying to him because clearly this adjuster wasn't going to the junk yard to rip out the steering gear and send it straight to the body shop. The adjuster responded "I am not lying to you, I am telling you".
Obviously they were not getting anywhere and so my brother was forwarded back to Andy. They discussed several things and Andy attempted to also read policies of state farm to my brother and informed him that I should have it because he sent it via e-mail to my account? Of course Andy caught himself and attempted to say that my e-mail may not have worked? Anyways, Andy told my brother at this point, I am paying for my own rental car because I have stalled state farm from repairing any further damages to my vehicle and they are only pending my response. At this point, I begin researching and found the insurance commissioner website, where you can file a complaint regarding any insurance company that won't do their job accurately.
My brother informed me of better business bureau also. I went ahead and attempted to file a complaint with my own agent at state farm who informed me that I couldn't because there was already a claim filed so it's a duplication. She did state she will discuss the whole matter with the adjuster and figure something out. An hour later, Andy called to inform me that they are totaling my car. So after almost 2.5 months of my time wasted, state farm finally makes the smart decision to save themselves even more of a loss by totaling my car.

I posted a complaint about State Farm but now my issue was finally resolved. The sad thing is this , I had to comlpain a lot and post complaints online before State Farm would help me. But finally I had a nice person in the claims dept who helped me to try and get this resolved. Am still waiting for BRE Canyon Creek ( owned by Essex Company ) to credit me back my 250 dollar deductible.
I got rid of my agent named John ** in Granad Hills as he was not handling my problem at all. I switched to a new agent now and will see how this one does. Anymore problems with State Farm and I will leave them for sure. I pay them to handle accidents and other related problems if they don't they are not doing the the job they are getting paid for.

I am writing you to complain about State Farm Insurance. I have been a State Farm Insurance customer for over 30 years. In that time, I have been denied 3 different claims. First claim was when my car was broken into in Fresno, they denied that claim saying it was a hatchback. Second claim when I lived in Visalia my house had a flood from a sprinkler problem they denied this claim saying they don't cover that kind of flood.
Now this claim which happened right before Christmas I sustained damage to my brand new car at the location of where I live in my apartment complex. I was leaving the underground parking structure and they had a carpet cleaning van partially blocking the only driveway entrance/exit. So in leaving while going out the automatic gate, I had to go slow so as to not hit the van and the wall to my left. The automatic gate started to close and I was not fully out of its way yet so the gate hit my bumper and taillight lens causing some damage. I got out saw the damage and was upset. I quickly went in and reported it to the manager on duty at BRE Canyon Creek apartments where I live. He came and checked my car and said report it to State Farm and bring him all the paperwork. I reported it to State Farm and they told me to take it to the repair shop which I did.
It took them about a week to fix my car so I got a rental car. State Farm told me at the claims dept to not contact BRE Canyon Creek that they would do it. After waiting over 2 weeks I called the claims dept back and asked what's happening. They then told me I did not have enough evidence for this that they are not going to do anything and I will not be getting my $250 dollar deductible back which I paid to the repair shop. This totally infuriated me to no end. I asked to speak to a supervisor after being treated rudely by the lady on the phone, was left on hold with music playing for over an hour so I hung up.
I have since sent my agent John ** of Granada Hills telling him I want him to get me my $250 dollar deductible back and why am I paying them all this money year in and year out if they don't help me. I called BRE Canyon Creek and spoke with that manager again and asked him what's happening with this. He said its been turned over to the legal dept and I said "oh ok then I will get my lawyer now to get involved." He said I don't have to do that.
I tell you what. I have very serious health issues including heart and other problems this is causing me a lot of extra stress to me. If State Farm and BRE Canyon Creek do not take care of this problem very soon then I will get a lawyer and sue them both for what I lost and for causing me a lot of unnecessary stress. This is a small amount of money in comparison to other claims but it is the principle of the matter that they both need to do the right thing. I am very unhappy with State Farm Insurance and BRE Canyon Creek.

State Farm is the WORST! Horrible customer service and a bunch of liars. The claims department says they are doing an investigation but they don't do anything. They were suppose to take measurements...didn't. They were suppose to speak with witnesses...refused my witness because we work in the same building (accident was in an employee parking lot). They were to obtain police report...claimed it was never received. So on and so forth. Investigated nothing and then puts that I am at fault even though police, witness, and everything else says otherwise. Now they expect me to pay. Their employees are lazy, rude, and incompetent. I had been accident free for almost 10 years and my family has had State Farm for 20+ years and this is how they treat customers when you finally call upon them. They just collect your money and otherwise don't care about you. I will be seeking new insurance, as should other State Farm policy holders.

I have been a State Farm customer for over 30 years, since I was 15 years old. I started out on my parents' policy, and I eventually got my own. They used to be so awesome to work with, but their customer service has gone horribly wrong. There isn't even enough room here to name everything, but I'll give highlights: Wanted to switch to another State Farm office. Was told several different times that they would take care of it, but I had to keep calling back for them to get it right. Frustrating and annoying.
Was involved in a car accident with another State Farm customer. Initially, they said they were going to deem the accident a 50/50 at-fault situation, which I was unhappy with because the other party was clearly at fault. Then, weeks later -- after the claim was closed -- they changed it to my being 100 percent at fault. How does that happen after an investigation is closed?
Car was damaged going through a car wash. At first I was told not to worry, that they would help me recover. I had to follow up constantly because I wasn't getting any information. Later I was told that because the damage was lower than my deductible, they would not help me recover from the car wash. What? In both instances I had to talk to the claims department numerous times and answer the same questions: Who was in the car? Were there car seats? Did everyone have their seat belts on?
Here's the latest: I have been informed by State Farm that they are canceling my policy because when my car was damaged in the car wash, my husband had been driving and he's not authorized to drive my car. (And, by the way, this is now their excuse for not helping me recover from the car wash.) When my husband was excluded from the State Farm policy, I told them he has his own car insurance, but they don't care; they are still cutting my policy. It makes absolutely no sense, but I am actually glad they are cutting me. Now I have to actually make the move. I wish I would have left State Farm years ago.

In 1994 we had insurance with State Farm on my daughter's Mustang. She was involved in an accident. When we went to file a claim we found out we were not insured. The agent's Secretary had not mailed our check to the proper place. Our check was found in the desk drawer of the secretary along with others. We had to pay for our Daughter's car and also the person she hit. I went to a lawyer and was told I had a good case but if I were to lose I would be responsible for all expenses. We didn't fight it. I didn't have the money at the time for a lawyer. I later learned from a State Farm Employee that one of the bosses said, had I hired a lawyer they were going to settle with us out of court. Why couldn't they do the right thing in the first place? If State Farm was the only insurance company on this earth I wouldn't buy not a DAMN THING from them!

Over a year ago I got stationed at Fort Knox. I was in desperate need of a vehicle as the Military offers no help getting around in case you come in young as I did--unlicensed. When I had gotten married at the time, I had leadership on me demanding to fix my situation because I either relied on rides or mainly biking it. Crazy enough my husband was able to loan out a vehicle under my name being unlicensed as long as he would drive. Not long after finally getting my license, I was insured just as he was with State Farm and was about 3 months from deploying.
Before leaving as anyone would do, I touched based with everything and made sure they would continue the automatic payments while I was gone. Unfortunately while deployed, things started to roll downhill and I end up filing for divorce. In the process I called State Farm to have the ex taken off and re-instated. They seemed impossible to get a hold of and would have me transferred over and over. So much so the 1 SG I had took the phone and started up a storm in order for someone to answer me.
Finally someone answered and looked up my stuff and claimed it was cancelled but would recreate it and re-instate it for me which I couldn't understand why. I had a family member eventually help out back in the states to straighten everything out. They reassure me I'm insured and that everything would be fine. I get back and right before block leave, the next day end up in an accident. Find out they again cancelled it without informing me properly and even if wasn't turned out it was only liability when it was supposed to be full coverage as they assured me. It takes forever for claims to even get back with me and even the bank ends up telling me to raise hell because it's happened before with other people.
Right now I'm stuck in a nightmare any driver would, having no insurance to cover and hoping the costs are not extraordinary or possibly becoming more screwed. As you can read from all these reviews, STAY AWAY & BEWARE of State Farm. They will cover only themselves and will do anything to cover up what you are first sugar coated with such as those ** commercials of theirs. Learned my lesson and going to USAA. On March 25, 2014 I was in an accident that involved a State Farm insured person, who was at fault. By December 19th, the claim is finally in the final stages. I was driving - my daughter and granddaughter were passengers in the car. All of us had medical issues and we were offered separate settlements. A problem arose when the Independent Adjuster, Angela found out that my granddaughter did not have a married mother and father. Angela has a hard time understanding that people do have children out of wedlock and there are parents who choose not to participate in their upbringing. Angela requested a piece of paper stating that the father is not in the child's life. My daughter and I both asked her what type of form does she want? She says get something from someone stating that the child has only one guardian. Since the father was never involved, there are no documents from the court or anywhere else. After 5 different phone calls, Angela ** has not sent us a request form that will release liability (she claims that State Farm has none) or has not named the actual form she wants.
Several years ago, there was an accident and the at fault insurance company sent us a "Parents Release and Indemnity Agreement" form. This was provided by the at fault insurance company. According to Angela, there is no form that State Farm has for this type of release. My granddaughter is 9 years old. The settlement is minimal - to have to go to court will cost 5 times more than what is being offered. What is wrong with this woman? Are her prejudices against a single mother supported by the company she works for? Why do I have to do her job for her? What is wrong with State Farm? Angela first started her position early December 2014 (she admitted this to me!). Why hasn't she been adequately trained?
I have requested to talk to a supervisor several times and I still end up with Angela, Independent Adjuster for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company. Why can't State Farm send me the form that needs to be filled out or send me the name of the form that needs to be provided? Is this a scam against young children with only one parent????

Not only have my rates gone up over the last year to which my agent cites as "administrative costs and that maybe if he explained it to me slower I'd understand"... but my daughter was hit by a car by someone whom also has State Farm insurance. Since this "woman" has no medical coverage and I didn't file a report against her because she was a "friend". When it came down to money, the lying woman suddenly came up with witnesses (which are NOT on a formal police report because there IS NO police report) and State Farm is telling me that since I have medical coverage... for ME to file a claim. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Then I have asked THREE times for a copy of this report/witness statements that the "claims representative" Melissa ** claims to have. NOTHING. Crickets. Not a response. Nothing. My request is for the medical bills to be paid. That's it! I'm not looking to sue the idiot who hit my kid, just pay the out of pocket medical costs (which don't even add up to $2000). My attorney said it's pointless to pay him for something that is so minor in costs... but I'm honestly thinking about filing against State Farm and the driver just for the principle. I absolutely DETEST State Farm. They are by far, the most WORTHLESS insurance company I have ever heard of. So long as you never have to use them...they will take your money with a smile. We did not understand why exactly they were dropping him and the only reason they gave us was because of me. Not only that but my significant other had been insured for 17 years without ever even getting a traffic ticket and then someone had rear-ended him which was minor but a couple months later they raised his insurance because of the accident which was not even his fault to begin with. Especially when I thought I was covered by my insurance company because State Farm's crappy agent told me I was and would be. What if I got into an accident?

I was hit in rush hour traffic on 9-5-2014 by a delivery driver for IKEA. He admitted he saw me exit a driveway (usually this is the person exiting a driveway's fault, according to some attorneys) and stop. I stopped to double-check my lane to be sure it was clear which it was. A lady was making a left turn into the driveway as I exited the driveway. She was my witness that the delivery driver sped up making an unsafe lane change since he obviously didn't see me execute the turn. He hit my car so hard it bounced onto the sidewalk hitting a heavy metal bike rack and practically knocking me unconscious. The delivery driver refused to show identification, reveal the name of the independent delivery company he was employed by to deliver items for IKEA.
I called IKEA and found out the company name, Diamond Transportation, LLC, which was suspended for nonpayment of seven years taxes to the California Franchise Tax Board, and a suspension means the company isn't allowed to operate or have drivers doing deliveries. I found out State Farm is the insurer and the policy is in effect. The adjuster, Adrienne **, was very rude and turned my witness's statement, according to the witness when she found out the claim was denied, in an erroneous reason for denial... failure to yield...there was no one to yield to since the witness and I were the only two in the lane before the delivery driver sped up and totaled my car. I am suing State Farm as soon I can find an attorney who will take the case. Just had to comment since so many people have had problems with State Farm lying and cheating on claims.

Back in 2003 I had a drunk driver pull out in front of me. To avoid hitting them I swerved in to the oncoming lane. There was a car coming towards me so it was either run over the car that pulled out in front of me, hit the car coming towards me head on or drive into the trees on the side of the road. I ended up running over the drunk driver's red Oldsmobile. Due to the fact that he didn't have a driver’s license his DUI charge was dropped and he ended up getting public intoxication and operating a vehicle without a license because at the time a DUI was a traffic violation and in order to get that you had to be a licensed driver. State Farm found me at fault for that one and my insurance went up.
In 2007 I was hit by an uninsured drunk driver that ran an intersection in Jacksonville Ar. This time I called my State Farm agent and they had a rental car and tow truck there before the cops could even do a report. They fixed my truck and gave me two different rental vehicles. The first was a new Jeep Cherokee but it was too small and I couldn't fit stuff in it. I talked to my State Farm agent and they went and got a new 4 door Chevy Silverado. The body shop screwed some stuff up on my truck so I ended up driving a rental car for about 6 weeks. They actually ended up replacing the frame on my truck, which I have never heard of and would have thought that it would have totaled it. I only had the truck for 2 weeks before it was hit and didn't purchase gap insurance at the time of purchase but everything worked out.
In December of 2012 after backing out of a parking spot my passenger side front tire clipped the back bumper of a minivan. I talked to the lady and exchanged information and she said that it would be fine if we talked to the insurance company on Monday when they were open. Much to my surprise I ended up getting arrested a couple of hours later for assault with a deadly weapon and endangering the welfare of 3 minors. I ended up having to hire a lawyer and it ended up that I bumped into a minivan that belonged to a lady that spent much of her life in mental institutions and was on mind-altering drugs. It took me 2 years in court to get out of that mess but State Farm stuck by my side, they paid the claim and in the end the crazy woman was ordered to pay my attorney fees (although I haven't seen one red cent).
Overall, State Farm has been good and fair to me. The second insurance agent I had was worthless but all I had to do was drive 5 miles down the street to the next agent and I was saving $70 a month and had someone there that did more than just collect money every month.

Two months ago, the insured of State Farm caused a 3 car accident. State Farm has refused to take responsibility in spite of photo and witness evidence. They cite "pending investigation" even after months. Currently, the responsible party has changed their story yet again and thus a new investigation. It is obvious there are a number of idiots and deceptive employees working at State Farm (not all but definitely on this case). If State Farm had a bit of real business sense, they'd do something really intelligent like: 1) find out whom they are dealing with because I have boats, cars, trucks, trailers and homes all insured with one company for a number of years and 2) they could be trying to impress people like me who may be interested in getting a good deal with another company. Instead they are protecting an individual with a criminal record and only liability.

We had State Farm insurance since the 80's. November 18 our 33 year old drug addict son stole our less than month old car. His license is revoked and has a history of arrest for 2 DUI, and Burglary. He was living with us only because of the following: he had done 14 months treatment and was doing well but was only supposed to stay for 90 days after completing those months in sober living facility and starting new job. After one month he stole a credit card $900.00. We threw him out but the police said we had to let him back in and told us to go to the court house and evict him. The court house said they don't do it because there is no lease and sent us to the county. They also said they don't do it there. My husband had to take 2 days off to do this. We couldn't find a lawyer to help us get him out of our house. He broke into our bedroom from the outside window and stole jewelry and coins. The police didn't arrest him. Police told him and us that it wasn't an offense to be arrested for. So that led up to the car theft. We have camera's in the house but they proved no deterrent to him while wearing a hoodie to disguise himself taking the key and then making another trip to my purse to take another credit card. We discovered both missing at 5 a.m. the next morning. The police wouldn't report the car as stolen.
We hired a private detective who found my son in a mental hospital in another state but not with the vehicle. He claimed the vehicle was stolen from him while he was trying to located drugs. A second police report was filed in that state almost two days later that listed the car as stolen but the car was never recovered. The insurance company State Farm, claims that the car wasn't stolen because my son 'assumes the right' to drive it because he was living in the house. My son didn't have any right to drive any car in any state. He couldn't be insured, plus the car and the driver were fully insured is what I believed when I bought the policy. Either way my car IS stolen. Don't buy State Farm..They don't pay.

I did not have a current insurance card in my car, so my mechanic called my agent for a current card to complete the inspection. They told him that my policy was CANCELLED, that I was not covered under them. I have never been late on a payment... and I never got any notice in the mail. I called my agent's office and was told indeed, that my policy had been cancelled since July 2014, and that it appeared it was done by their underwriting department.
The agent I spoke to said she would call Underwriting and get right back to me. She did return my call in about 10 minutes to inform me that the Underwriting department had done that accidentally when they changed my last name. They did immediately fax a card to my mechanic so that he could complete the inspection. I am angry! If I had been pulled over or in an accident, it would have appeared at first as though I was uninsured, and it may have been a bit hard to prove to an officer... I truly have no faith in their work ethic anymore.

Within minutes of calling my agent I had the claims department calling me to follow up. Last spring, my wife was hit by a distracted driver in a parking lot. The other driver was too busy looking for an address on her phone and did not avoid hitting our car. State Farm investigated the accident and determined that because our car was backing out of a parking space, it was 51% our fault. When I questioned the head investigator, I was shocked at how little he knew about California vehicle laws. It was like talking to a teenager who had never read the operator's handbook. I requested a re-determination. It was denied.
According to the response, my request was not received within the 30 days. This was not true. I sent it certified and have proof it was within the 30 days. So State Farm breaks the law. Regardless, the State Farm team will not change the determination. I will have to sue them as I did in 2000. I won then and they paid all claims and my lawyer's fees. My point is, I insure six cars, two homes, four boats, two bikes, two jet skis, and a 5-million-dollar umbrella policy State Farm would at least consider losing me as a customer. Nope, they do not.

On the morning of Oct 29, 2014 my two vehicles, a BMW X5 and a BRAND NEW 2015 Volvo XC60 were parked in front of my home, the Volvo on the street, the BMW in my driveway. That morning happened to be the day before my birthday. I was awakened by the sound of a loud crash and a car alarm going off. I went outside in front of my house to find my brand new, 4 month old Volvo had been hit and pushed 50 feet at a speed of about 50 mph according to the police, and the Volvo was spun 120 degrees and pushed across my front lawn and into the driveway hitting my BMW parked there! My neighbor was driving on sleeping pills and had fallen asleep at the wheel! His insurance was Geico, mine is State Farm. In all my years I've never been in an accident I caused, and never ever file claims, that didn't stop my own company, State Farm, from trying to screw me. Geico sent an estimator to look at my cars, he deemed that the Volvo was totaled and BMW was fixable. However, when the costs were added up they realized that he had exceeded his Geico policy limits, hence State Farm came into the picture to handle it all with under-insured motorist coverage. This is where the problems began.
State Farm sent out 2 estimators to look at the Volvo, and they claimed it was repairable for under $20K, and then proceeded to ask the body shop to repair my 1 ½ year old BMW with salvaged BMW parts, not new ones as Geico had prescribed!!! State Farm even told the body shop to put damaged parking sensors back on the BMW in order to save money! The worker at the body shop said that "Geico treated you better than your own company did!" I'm a car guy, and my Volvo was clearly not repairable, it had clear frame damage but State Farm didn't listen to me when I explained this so I was forced to hire a lawyer.
After 2 full weeks of fighting, the Volvo was suddenly and magically totaled by State Farm with no explanation ever given as to why they had so dramatically changed their story. The BMW eventually was repaired as well after weeks of fighting over the fact that State Farm was trying to claim that paint chips to the BMW's body were my fault and not from the accident, despite the fact that landscaping gravel had been kicked into the air when my Volvo was pushed across my front lawn and I had photographs showing this! They eventually backed off and paid for the paint chips after almost 2 weeks. This was all being done to a customer who did not cause this crash, never turns in claims or has had an accident, and currently also had no cars thanks to the crash!!!
All this took over a month and a half, in the meantime my rental car coverage ran out and I was forced to borrow cars from relatives. They say "like a good neighbor State Farm is there," I would say that State Farm are as good of neighbors as my own neighbor who lives up the street who crashed into my cars and to this day has never apologized to me! My Volvo's car loan has still not been paid off by State Farm despite the fact that over a month has elapsed since they totaled it and I have already had to make a car payment on a car which I no longer have which is currently sitting in a junkyard thanks to my good neighbors at State Farm! State Farm can care less that I'm paying for a car I don't even own anymore! STAY AWAY FROM STATE FARM!!!
All these commercials they have on TV get paid for by them screwing their own customers on claims, I'm living proof of it. You can't get any more innocent than I was in my crash. I was laying in bed watching TV in my house, yet my own company could care less. They never ever ever even one time tried to rush things through the claims process to try to get me my BMW back so I would have at least one car back. The adjustors don't answer phone calls, they don't explain their actions, and they’re just flat out crooked. I am currently looking into filing a bad faith lawsuit against State Farm for their conduct on this claim with my lawyer. STAY AWAY FROM STATE FARM!!!

IN March 2013, I had a fender bender in Northern Virginia. While the accident was technically my fault, the other driver did not have her driver's license with her nor her insurance card- whole thing was very suspicious as she pointed out damage to me that there was no way I could have caused. A 35 years State Farm Client, I immediately reported the incident to the insurance company. I specifically asked to be contacted if and when the other party contacted State Farm as I wanted to be there when they looked at her car. They promised they would. They also told me she hadn't called yet and they were about to put the file away (yes, she had 3 years to file, they meant they were going to put it in inactive. Realistically, how many people who've been in an accident that they claim is not their fault wait a month to call the insurance company).
A year and a half later, I learned she had called the insurance company and they paid most of her claim and NEVER CALLED ME- DESPITE HAVING IT IN THE NOTES. They said "we're sorry." If that's how I'm treated after 35 years of loyalty to them, ** them. I've already started changing insurance and would love this comment to go viral. The big wigs sit in their office and make their bonuses for doing nothing and the people who pay their salaries are treated horribly
Back in 2004 I had a similar experience with State Farm in that they had gone to the group method of handling claims and had determined it was my fault. A lot of yelling over the phone and persistence finally got them to have one of their better investigators come and re-enact the accident with me (those in their offices had made the determination without checking the details) and agreed I was in the right. The next day I heard from the MD office, very apologetically, about how I wanted to handle things. Meanwhile, for a month, it was a nightmare. State Farm doesn't care about its clients and does not reward customer loyalty- and has no problem lying to clients. "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there" - not true. Sure glad State Farm is not my neighbor, or I would have moved.

I've had State Farm for 4 years and they are good until you actually need help. In the past few weeks I've gotten zero help from them on various issues. First, I called to get a copy of my ex husband's insurance cards because he was returning home from a military deployment and I needed his new insurance card to be able to get on base to pick him up (his insurance was renewed during the deployment so I needed a copy of the new card that day). I explained to them that I can provide documentation that I have power of attorney for him since he is deployed and we have a child together, but they were still unwilling to help. What am I going to do with an insurance card, steal his identity? Come on. Have a little understanding for a military family.
Secondly, I called a few weeks later to see if we can get a new quote for putting our policies together since we are working things out and moving back in together. Again, they were unwilling to help me saying the rates wouldn't change. I ended up getting a quote from another company which will cost us $50 less a month for more coverage so I went ahead and switched companies. Calling them to cancel has been such a nightmare. I have probably called about 7 times in the past week and can never get a hold of my agent who is the only person authorized to cancel the insurance. I finally spoke with him today and he was trying to get us to stay saying he can give us more discounts. Ok well why didn't you offer that before I already switched insurance companies??? It's a little too late for that now.
On top of everything State Farm is reporting that I have an accident from 2011 which absolutely never happened. The claims dept. is stating that I hit another car in a parking lot which caused $1500 worth of damage. My car has never had damage to it nor has it ever been fixed in a shop. The claims dept. refused to send me any documentation on the accident so I am stuck with this claim on my record that I have no knowledge of. It's only affecting my new rate by $10 a month so I'm not even going to bother fighting it any further, but it's definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. The next day I contacted my agent who informed that if the claim is under $5,000 that they could issue a check from their office. They advised to take a few days & make sure I could remember what exactly was taken.
After taking a couple days and making a list, I felt confident I had figured out everything that was stolen. I called my agent again & the employee began the process. I was asked if the robbery had been at my Mustang Oklahoma address. I replied, truthfully, that "no I had moved 6 months ago to Del City." (Move was made after my daughter had been raped, could not press charges & was seeing the kid around town.) She put me in hold for a substantial amount of time & returned to the phone saying that the claim would have to go through the main office because I had moved.

And because of those injuries, I was unable to get any of the other driver's information at the scene - we were hauled off in the ambulance pretty quickly (I didn't even get my license or car reg. back at the scene, had to go pick them up later). I started a claim with my own insurance company (Geico), but as I had none of the other driver's information, I needed to acquire a copy of the police report. This was a bit difficult to do since I had no transportation (I failed to have rental insurance on my personal Geico policy - lesson learned) and ultimately had to walk to the State Police barracks (Colorado State Troopers were who ended up handling the accident scene) to get a copy.
I sent a copy of the report to my claims agent the same day I received it. She acknowledged it and sent it to State Farm first thing the following morning, which would have been 11/20/14 - a large part of the delay in obtaining this was due to injury and being unable to walk an hour to the police barracks - and no, I didn't have someone to take me or some other easier method, otherwise I would have done so. When I spoke to my agent that day, she told me that whoever she talked to at State Farm said they wanted me to call them as soon as possible so they could take my statement, but for the time being they were not going to claim any liability for this accident since their client - the one who ran a red light and hit me, as detailed in the police report, complete with the citation number of the ticket she was issued for doing so - had told them that she didn't run a red light, it wasn't her fault, she did nothing wrong, etc, etc... All with no documentation.
Evidently they weren't too pleased with the appearance of the police report as when I called them on 11/20/14, I was told the person I needed to talk to wasn't there and they didn't know when she would be. When I asked about how long I should expect to hear back from someone, I was snarled at and told that they'd "JUST RECEIVED" the police report and how should they know how long it would take? I dunno, because they're claims department of an insurance company...? They continued to avoid me/delay things until yesterday (11/24/14) when I went to the impound lot where my car is located to collect my personal items from it, only to be told that I could not because State Farm was refusing any liability for this claim, since their client "said" she didn't do it - yet oddly I have a police report from CO State Troopers that says a bit differently, and like I said, even includes the citation number of the ticket she was issued (I was not ticketed for anything, as I did nothing wrong).
One of the women at the tow yard called State Farm to speak to them and was then told that they (State Farm) were still "waiting to hear from me" in order to take my statement (please refer to the previously mentioned avoidance of talking to me). I was given the phone right there in the office as State Farm said they'd take care of the statement right then - and they promptly transferred me to voicemail. The lady at the tow lot called them back and simply handed me the phone without giving them the opportunity to "transfer" me again. I did end up giving a statement, that I was told was recorded, so there should be a record of it, but nothing further happened at that point. The person I spoke with ("Emily **") also acknowledged having a copy of the police report that Geico submitted to them for me and said that it appeared pretty "clear" as to what the case was. And yet, they still assumed no responsibility at that point because she wanted to call the State Trooper who handled the accident scene - no problem, I gave her his name and number.
As of the end of the workday today, 11/25/14, I have not heard from anyone at State Farm, nor have I been able to get any of my personal items released from my vehicle - things that I NEED. I called and left a message for "Emily **" and did as the tow lot suggested I do - gave her the current total due in lot fees, which is approaching $1000 at this point. Beyond that, I obviously have received no compensation for either my vehicle or any other claims that they should be paying. They have until 12/19/14 to deal with the lot (per the tow lot) before my car and all of its contents are removed from the property and sold. I feel it would be wise that they cease acting like this is not their responsibility and take care of things in a timely manner, such as by the end of this week at the latest. I don't particularly care that this is Thanksgiving week - this is their job, they need to do it no matter how much they're trained to not pay out on claims that they actually owe on.
The attached photo is my vehicle as seen at the impound lot. Front end is destroyed, windshield is shattered [airbag], and the frame is bent (my girlfriend had to have her door [passenger front] pried open as they could otherwise not get her out). It may or may not be worth mentioning that I am 38 and have never, in 22 years of driving, been in an accident - not even a "fender bender". The driver who ran the red light is a 20-year-old female that takes "selfies" inside of cars (per her Facebook page). Her "excuse" to the officers at the scene for running the red light (which she admitted at the scene and then told State Farm she didn't do) was that she was "unfamiliar" with the area (this is in the police report). My understanding is that a red traffic light means pretty much the same thing everywhere. This also was not a just-turned-red light - it was a light that had been red, other opposing traffic had already stopped, and I had a green turn arrow. Actively seeking representation.

My wife was sitting at a stoplight and was slammed into by another car going at least 55 MPH. My wife's car was totaled. My insurance gave us an estimated value of 11K within 2 days of the accident. It took State Farm 11 days to come up with a figure of 8.8K, and now they refuse to pay for a rental. I have asked repeatedly for State Farm to show me three quotes for a like vehicle (my wife's car only had 60,000 miles despite being a 2008). State Farm's response is "We provided a quote for a vehicle with 90,000 miles, and adjusted the price." Their agents have been unresponsive, and have not sent me the information in writing despite three requests. They have never even asked my wife's condition after the accident. The information from their adjuster is not accurate, and no one seems to care. Their only concern is to provide the lowest possible claim amount. I am NOT in Good Hands.

As usual the call goes right to voice mail and it says "This is Carmen and I will be gone for an extended amount of time." I call my agent back, "Agent is at a funeral try the number again but this time press zero at the end of message to speak to another agent." I did, spoke to Kim of the Total Loss Claims Dept. I asked why has it been 18 days without hearing from State Farm. Her reply was she did not understand my question. I gave her my claim No. and asked for her name. She said her name was "Kim," and had no operator or employee identification NO. I was to just use her first name for my detailed notes. She asked just one question and that was if I wanted her to mail me a settlement check or have it sent to my Agent's office.
Not wanting to wait another 10 or more days waiting for snail mail I told her to send it to the Agent. I called my Agent back and spoke again with Ally. I asked Ally if claims was required to give more than just a first name and she said they only give an Alias Name. Later my Agent called me to let me know they spoke with claims and settlement money will arrive later this week, maybe this Thursday. I was so disappointed with this experience. Not one single time today was a settlement amount discussed with me regards to the amount for my Vehicle Claim.

State Farm told the DMV in Maryland that my insurance was cancelled between September 23-29. I am like what? I call my agent. He tells me that everything is fine. I ask for my 6 month renewal card to be sent to me (as a little test). It is promptly emailed to me. Then on Sat. Nov. 1, I received a computer generated letter dated Oct. 6 from DMV. It was a letter telling me to turn in my license plates as my registration was suspended for nonpayment of insurance bill in September. I called my agent again, and asked which month I failed to pay my bill. He said September. I asked did he know that as a fact, since my insurance was "re-instated" on September 29. He responds to me that the payment was late. I ask him when is my bill due. He says the 20th of every month. I then ask why do I have an email from from him telling me that my payment is due on the 28th? I have a number of emails from the insurance agent telling me that everything was fine, and then I started getting emails telling me that "I will not help you."
I called my attorney. She then called him. He told her how he wanted to help me and how he tried but I refused the help. I forwarded all the emails I ever had with this insurance agency as well as my bank statements with state farm payments highlighted for over a year. My attorney then calls the DMV with the case number. She talks to them. They said I have to pay $150 fine to have my registration re-instated. DMV tells her that State Farm will not forward them the CR-19 form to clear me. At this time, a law suit is being processed. I have been driving for 39 years. In that time, I have had 3 speeding tickets, and 1 deer hit, and never a missed payment. (1 star = don't ever get State Farm)

While driving in heavy rain my Honda Ridgeline hydroplaned, causing me go into the ditch at high speed. Everything seemed OK though, and I was able to drive out and continue my trip. There was no apparent damage other than some hay in the undercarriage. I removed all the hay I could see. A week later while driving, a small fire started under the hood from some hay by the catalytic converter. A passerby put the fire out with an extinguisher within minutes but not before some damage was done. At the body shop they also discovered that there was some damage to the bumper when I went into the ditch. State Farm claimed the bumper damage and fire were two separate accidents, applied my $1,000 deductible twice, and said they were two separate "chargeable" events on my record.

They will treat you like their best friend until a claim is filed. They also treat their employees like another constant negative change, it almost seems that the less experienced you are the better off you are. Everything is about the Sigma Six, no flexibility. It's almost like spending your day in a communist country. Those who voice an opinion or disagree with anything are blackballed. Personally I don't do business where a company treats their employees like a dog. The lack of experience in many management roles is almost comical.

So let me tell you a little story about State Farm. On 10/20/2014, I was hit by another vehicle - no fault of my own and the other person (who also has State Farm) admitted fault at the scene. It is now 11/11/2014 and I still do not have a vehicle. In the beginning, everyone was so helpful and sympathetic because it was a scary situation and my passenger and I had both been injured. My agent was very eager to help us out with anything we needed. When the police report came back, however, and everyone realized that the other driver also had State Farm, the tune quickly changed. We contacted our agent's office about what to do next and were told repeatedly that there was nothing we could do and no one else we needed to bother speaking to "because it would all work itself out." The receptionists were rude to us and finally, after my husband decided to be rude back, we got a 1800 number out of them.
After calling this number, we were informed that the claims people had, in fact, been waiting to speak to us - information our agent failed to tell us. We got the ball rolling on some of it. The vehicle was moved to one of their collision centers where it was deemed a total loss. So, here we are waiting on whomever is dealing with the other client's policy to get back with us and make an offer. We had just bought this car not even a year ago, so we need to loan paid off. They've only granted us a rental car for a week, because "We can be assured that we will have a new vehicle by that time." We did not have another vehicle. We still do not have another vehicle. They finally call us back with an offer and it's over $600 less than what we owe on the car. While I am well aware that they are only obligated to pay off what the car was worth prior to the accident, I have been a good customer and they should have taken care of that extra money without any argument. I have two vehicles - one under liability and one under full coverage. I've been with this company for over two years and I pay bill like clock work every month.
On top of us now having to come out of pocket on our car for an accident that was NOT my fault, but the fault of their other client, we were also told that they would no longer pay for our rental car because it was simply a courtesy that they extended to us. Are you absolutely ** kidding me? A courtesy?! I have to work. My husband has to work. We need a vehicle and again, the accident was NOT my fault! What kind of company takes care of their clients like this? And now the cherry on top of the proverbial, bitter, curdled, rotting, sundae: When speaking to our loan company yesterday about why it is taking them so long to accept the final payment from State Farm, since we already paid the money they made us come out of pocket for, we are informed that State Farm lied on the evaluation of our vehicle to try to save themselves some money and now the loan company is having to go after them for the correct amount that they owe us on the vehicle. Turns out they didn't include the spoiler, fog package, or the more expensive radio My Link system that our vehicle was equipped with when they were determining what it was worth.
So now, I'm still without a new vehicle, am paying out of pocket for a rental, and they actually thought they could pull one over on the bank. Is this how you take care of all of your customers, State Farm? Like a good neighbor, my ass. My neighbor has never even so much as asked for a cup of sugar. You screwed me out of over $600 on an accident that was someone else's fault, not to mention the time lost at work and the money I am now paying for a rental, so that I can get back to work, just to make more money to send to you. I'm sure this will be deleted promptly, but that's OK. Because it's plastered all over the rest of the web and the details of this incident are going to the tax commissioner.

I got written statements by all the drs I saw pertaining to the accident including Dr. Michael **. After the 2 yrs I had to get a lawyer, Mr. **. This week Dr. ** gave his deposition contradicted everything he said in his letter claiming everything was not caused by the accident, the opposite of what he had stated.
Early on during my treatment Dr ** told me he had State Farm for his insurance. He had a problem with a bathroom that flooded. SF said they would pay then changed their mind. He threatened to go to another insurance co. State Farm said, "go ahead we will tell them you put in a false claim." Dr. ** stayed with them. I continued to stay with Dr. ** until he told me there was nothing more that he could do to make me better because of my medical problem with drugs. He sent me to a health food store to get ginkgo biloba which I still take. My primary dr. suggest I do acupuncture, which I do every other week because I pay that, State Farm does not. I really would like weekly.
Anyway State Farm is an awful company. I cannot believe how they can intimidate drs, insurers, their own & innocent victims like myself. We agreed, signed the papers, paid the premium and the auto policy was formally issued. About a week later the agent called and said State Farm decided now that they wouldn't cover my home due to a claim to the former insurance company for damage caused by a major, nationally known, hail storm (heaven forbid file a claim in time of need). They said that they are now going to raise my auto insurance by 15% due to their decision and the fact they had the auto tied to the home (rather normal).

When we finally came to a red light, I noticed this woman was smoking pot, because she decided to light up a bowl right at the red light. I was involved in an accident, in a parking lot. I pulled out and about to go forward but I saw a BMW coming toward, so I honked but the other driver kept coming and hit my car (his bumper to side of my car). The kid in the BMW was distracted by several girls in the parking lot (he admitted he was not paying attention) and didn’t hear me honking.
I called my insurance and everything worked out as it was supposed to. Apparently the other driver didn’t report to his insurance and was avoiding calls from my insurance company and his insurance company, so my case was assigned to their so-called special investigation team. After week and half, I contacted them and explained what happened. I also told them that I have a dash cam recording of the incident and the State Farm agent told me that they would contact me if they needed further evidence and will send someone out to look at the video, and they needed to contact their client to get his story.
After few hours later, I received a call from State Farm saying they have determined that it was 50/50 fault, that it was 50% my fault for being at the parking lot. I called to challenge their decision, asking what factors were used to determine the 50% was my fault. They stated that they got hold of their client and was told that we were both backing up same time, ignoring the photos (side of my car against their client's dented bumper). I asked them about the photo and they stated that the photos were inconclusive (side of my car against their client's bumper). I brought up about the dash cam video and they told me to make a certain type of video file, burn it on to DVD, and send it to their office.
They determined that (ignoring the facts, my car was hit on the side, that I have video and audio of his client stating that he was not paying attention, their client not reporting and avoiding calls for over a week, and the photos of both car) it was 50% my fault so they are not liable for damages. I reminded them that I will seek legal advice (lawyer) and will wage a social media campaign about their BS. Now they are going to send someone out to see the video (I cannot upload dash cam video, due to video file size and their limitation of upload size) and reassess the damages to determine what happened.
Their basic answer to 50/50 fault is I should not have been out. When first interviewed (phone), their first question was "What and why were you at the parking lot?" That says it all. They are not interest in the truth but looking for a blame.

Spoke with ** again the young lady who took my payment and that has been the front for all of this and she stated now they sent it to the wrong address and that now they have the correct address and will mail it overnight, again refusing to give me the tracking #, check # and started yelling at me for bothering her so many times with this issues.
"State Farm commercials says how friendly they are and Like a good neighbor." I do not believe they will mail me a refund, since no one seems to be able to give me a check # a overnight address, the corporate office for complaints, tracking#, Nothing. When I told her I was filing a complaint she didn't even care. I want everyone to know State Farm dropped me yet is keeping my money, what kind of friendly neighbor is that?

Besides the fact that each month my payment is different and I have to spend an hour at least getting that straightened out, on August 7th someone tried to break into my car on the passenger side door. This is very obvious as you can see where they used something metal to try and pry it open. Everyone that has seen it can see with no problem what happened. When I took my car to a Sate Farm rep for an estimate in the damage, he refused to give me one stating that it was from previous bad body work! The door will not close properly and has a gap in it from where they tried to get into it but he told me I bought the car that way!
He stood in my face and called me a liar. He would not even acknowledge the police report I made and kept insisting it was from prior bad body work. When I bought the car the door sealed tight and had no gap and maybe the car does have prior body work but that has NOTHING to do with the damage done since I bought it. Bad body work will cave in anyway not pry out! He refused to even for an estimate on my car and as I stated before blatantly called me a liar! State Farm is the worst Insurance Company Ever and I do NOT recommended them to anyone! I am calling every TV station and Radio Station and Newspaper about the way I have been treated over this!

I was driving down the road. As I was approaching my destination a little dog was in the street. I slowed down to avoid hitting because I thought it belonged to the jogger on my right. As I slowed down I said to my mom (passenger) "now look at this lil dog in the road" at that point boom! I was hit from behind by the SF client. It was so off guard that my mom turned to me and said what happened. Long story short SF is saying even though their client got a careless driving ticket it is 50/50 liability, we both were in fault therefore they are not paying anything for their client actions as this adjuster tell me this seem happy to say they believed I stopped in the road therefore her client had no choice but to hit me.. as if I intentionally stopped with my 2yr old in the back seat!!!! And laws know if I would've hit that damn dog I would've been charged with animal cruelty homicide or something. I'm a single mother that left an abusive relationship a year ago, didn't have a car or a place... finally got this car in February (Infiniti, I loved that car) was picking my son up to head to conway to get my keys to our first place only to get rear-ended by SF client and ruin my life. I'm totally devastated and all out of prayer and hope. SMH.

If you want a good insurance company that will be on your side and give you the professionalism you pay for, do not use this agent. He does what HE wants and lies. DO NOT use him.

I have had State Farm Ins. on my 2001 Ford Taurus for about a year. On Sept. 19, 2014, I purchased a 2003 Chevy Suburban that I needed full coverage Ins. on because it was required by the finance company. I called my agent Jacob ** office and gave the vehicle and finance company info to a person named Laura. I told Laura that I needed a binder faxed to the finance company asap or they wouldn't approve my loan. At that time she told me that my acct. was showing a closed status which made no sense to me because I had just made a payment a week earlier.
She looked up the payment and said it would be a couple of days before the payment would post and the acct would reopen. She then took all the information and said she would fax the binder to the finance company as soon as we hung up and that she would call me in a couple of days to get payment for adding the Suburban. She didn't tell me that I had to make the payment before they would cover it. Another thing is that their system wouldn't even accept the payment until the acct. reopened according to her.
So Monday after noon my finance co calls and says they need the binder. I called the office and explained to another girl that Laura was supposed to fax the binder and she says that she's sorry and that she will fax it right away. From Monday to Friday my finance co called me every day and I called Jacob ** office and each time they said they were sorry and would take care of it right away. They never faxed it. Instead I got a phone call from Laura on Friday saying the acct was reopened and she could take payment and start the ins. on the Suburban.
When I asked if I had been covered that week she said no that I didn't make a payment so how could I be covered. I don't know why she lied to me but she almost cost me the loan on my Suburban. I then told her that I wanted my policy canceled and that they needed to refund my last payment. I then decided to go into the office and talk to Jacob ** himself. As soon as I walked into his office, he rudely says, "I want to know where I can get free ins. That's what you want isn't it", and he started laughing.
I never asked for free ins. I offered to pay the premium when I gave Laura the info, but she said couldn't take the payment because the system wouldn't let her. I think it's wrong on their part to lead you to believe you have ins. when in fact you don't. I have now gone back to AAA and they faxed the binder so I didn't lose my Suburban. I know If I treated customers in the way they did I wouldn't have a job. Thank goodness I didn't have an accident during that week!

I was rearended by one of their policyholders back in the middle of July. I had an estimate and a place to take my car two days later, but because state farm couldn't get their act together I had to wait 2 weeks to get an estimate from them then I was able to take my car to the place that I got an estimate from first and could have left my car that day to get it fixed. I had to be aggressive and threaten to escalate everything to get them to first admit it was their clients fault even though I had a police report. Then to get me a rental car then to get my car in and repaired. It has been extremely annoying. It's now almost october and I still haven't gotten everything finalized.
I tried sending an email to the rep in charge of the claim and was told that it can take up to 24 hours for their system to process emails.... 24 hours for a email? Come on they have absolutely zero customer service - their game is to wait till you get sick of waiting then settle for less. I wouldn't want to wish dealing with state farm with my enemies. I feel for anyone that is hit by someone with state farm. All I have to say is be patient and stand your ground. But be prepared to have it last months.

I've been very dismayed at the unprofessionalism of the company and especially, of my agent Michael ** who continues to claim that his hands are tied as he continues to escalate the prices. First, my son and I were placed on one joint policy where I own both cars, not what I requested from him. Then when I relocated, the "automated system" added another hundred to the bill. Still not given warning just excuses. Now in addition to that charge, the monthly bill has increased $40 more each month.
Mike seldom answers phone without an attitude, his staff puts me on hold while he gives them the responses to relay. They hem and haw through the wording. It's obvious he's right there. Then he calls back with some bogus "pass the blame" comment on some other company area "the underwriter," "the policy" or threats of "there are other insurance companies". Our three-way phone with his supervisor was weeks ago and nothing is settled as I can hardly wait to see what kind of pricey policy they conjure up.

My vehicle damage was appraised at $13,500 when it was only worth $10,300. They have a policy that they will only total a car if it's more than 75% assessed value in repairs. The damage was almost $9,000. I called adjuster, agent, and State Farm disputing this appraisal value, and informing them this car had been in two prior accidents before this, and their appraisal was too high. They would not agree to this, and said to let them fix this, and they would send an appraiser back out when repairs were complete. Well, when they did this, they called me back acting like they were never aware it was in a prior accident, and said they could not assess a value of depreciation, and would not be cutting a check for the difference.
The name of this person who misled me was Kim **, and was the rudest, condescending, and outright most hateful person I have ever spoken to in the customer service industry. I was almost going to hire an attorney, but thought that it would probably end up costing me more, and let it go. Then, when I went to send my medical bills in to the medical side, they reassigned my case from the nice lady "Lisa **" to this Kim **.
I don't know about anyone else here, but this cannot be by coincidence. I am seriously considering changing my insurance now with all the emotional distress this lady has caused me, and would not recommend this company for insurance even though I have been with them for years. They are dishonest, and whoever you reach is somehow tied into the other. They are only concerned about keeping the revenue in house, and will obviously do whatever it takes to make that happen. It's sad, because I have always liked them until now. :(
To Summarize: Vehicle was over appraised to meet their requirements for not totaling vehicle. Kim ** had said they don't pull Carfax when appraising vehicle, but they do for depreciation, and will not pay the difference. And now, she is handling the medical side with the property damage. This sounds like a highly motivated individual when it comes to mistreatment of clients, and would not recommend this insurance company for anything. FYI, Kim ** responded in last conversation that they were not entitle to pay anything, and that fixing my vehicle should be enough. I am furious. I was inconvenienced regarding transportation to and fro work until rental car was taken care of, and had to use my own insurance even though it was his fault, and charged a deductible to fix my own car. I was injured and extremely sore for two weeks. I missed a few days from work as well. You be the judge.

First time in my driving history I've experienced such terrible service. The person that hit my parked car called their State Farm agent and admitted it was their fault. The next day State Farm called to confirm my side and was told they were working the claim. 5 days later I hadn't heard back so I called them and was told they were waiting to establish liability. WTF. They were told day one from the policy holder they were at fault. I had to tell her to recall. Once the adjuster showed up on day 7 after he advised me it would take 5 to 7 working days to receive a check so the repairs could begin. In the past the check from an insurance is cut right on the spot. So here I am 13 days out after the accident and no check or follow up call. Worst insurance I've dealt with and would never recommend to anyone.

The first email had no attachment so I had to call her back, the 2nd email had my info and SOMEONE ELSE'S! Then hours later she says she forgot to ask for a copy of my ID, 2 WEEKS later she emails that she forgot to ask for pics of the vehicle for the application! The agent hasn't even finished my application! I called the 1800 # instead of the local agent and the poor girl said there was no around to help her because she was not licensed to view my account. She was very nice and sincere but that doesn't help me when I don't know if I have legitimate insurance! Use anybody else but them! If State Farm was really my neighbor I would move!

Began State Farm In Drive Program in good faith which relates not only to given terms but includes implied terms so that the recipient of services is not deprived of reasonable expectations. The program begins when the package is mailed, NOT when the unit is put into the OBD port. Delayed receipt of driving information meant payment of another 3 months. Calculation of premiums meant initial reduction of 3.78% NOT 5% as promised. Email calculating reductions are NOT transparent to the consumer. Expectation is reduction in premium. Agent stated that is was feasible rates were at the lowest possible. Requested feedback which was never obtained despite repeated phone calls. Receipt of 6 month premium (payment can be done every 3 months) verified lack of discount. Again, no explanation offered or obtained.

@StateFarm I love my local agents! They go above and beyond to help people. That being said, the process of dealing with the State Farm claims people has been a complete nightmare! This was the first actual accident that I had ever been involved in. I was on my way to work on I-85 south nearing the Kia exit, exit 6. I was at the end of a line of cars in the passing lane. All of a sudden, a reddish/maroon older model explorer vehicle in the right hand lane sped up and came completely toward me in my lane. I tried moving over, but they came so quickly that I had to go all the way out of my lane. I thought that they tipped me and found some evidence of such on the right side of the car.
As soon as I started off the road, I was spinning. I went into the median, which is a deep and wide V shape in that area. I tried to get back on the road and was sliding toward trees. I tried to get my vehicle straightened out in the median and slow down. I was unaware that a large drainage/culvert type thing was in the median. I hit it hard enough with my right front of my vehicle that my coffee left the cup holder, the tervis top came off, and it was all over me, the windshield, and the car. My backpack went from the front passenger seat to the back. Change that was in a small side slot was in the floorboard. I hit my head hard enough to suffer a concussion and mild brain swelling that resulted in being out of work (I'm a teacher) for four days.
I was incredibly shaken up by all of this. I called the police and then my husband. The car that forced its way into me did not stop. As I said, we were at the end of our respective line of cars in our lanes. No one else stopped either. Later on, I learned that people I knew saw my car in the median after the accident had ended and didn't realize it was me. Not that all of this wasn't bad enough. Now we are having to deal with the fact that because the car did not stop and there is not significant damage down the right side, the claims department wants to specify this as collision instead of uninsured motorist. Let's not forget that the police report and the body shop showed where someone came over on me.
This is what makes me furious! First, State Farm is NOT the lowest price around town, not even close! In fact, I had ALFA before but Jody convinced me that State Farm is a great company that always takes care of you even if their price is a little higher. What a crock! I have avoided at least 75 accidents in just the last few years by moving over slightly and blowing my horn when someone has come into my lane. But believe me, that will not be the case anymore thanks to the wonderful claims department at State Farm! From now on, I will grab the wheel tight and let the other vehicle plow right into the side of me. That way, State Farm can then pay for the damage to the front side panel, two door panels, the rear side panel, possibly a bumper or two, a couple of tires and wheels, maybe a side mirror depending on the size ratio of the vehicle, and could even have to work on the windows if they get scratched or busted!
However, on this accident I saved you all that money by getting on out of the way. Do you really think that driver would have stopped if they hit me any harder than they did? Because of my quick thinking and actions I avoided a much worse crash that could have involved a roll over or multiple other cars that were around us, or possibly a death. Yes, you say that the law is the same no matter what insurance you have. I say that I can get exactly what State Farm is doing for me at half the cost that I pay now! Furthermore, State Farm can be sure that I will let everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, know exactly how Like a Good Neighbor, oh wait, State Farm isn't one!

They won't reimburse me for out of pocket expenses unless I provide a lot of proof and receipts to back it up. One person who I hired to take me to drs office has moved out of the area and I can't get a receipt from him. I had the convenience store make me a copy of their security footage to finally get them to fix my car. My out of pocket expenses were only $270.81. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
