My car and house were damaged by hail on 03/18/13; as of today (03/29/13) nothing has been done. My car has been in the repair shop for nine days and the shop can't work on it because State Farm refuses to send out an adjuster. I did get a call about my house and was told an adjuster (with a Texas telephone number) would be out the middle of next month. My rental car insurance with State Farm is sure to run out before the repairs are started! It appears that the insurance company has no adjusters in Georgia. I have called the company many times and was told they’re busy and will get to it when possible. They suck. Take your money and run.

A co-worker walked off the job on Friday to start working for State Farm the following Tuesday. He called me and other co-workers to see if he could practice by quoting us. A couple of us said sure. He revealed information to me about a co-worker’s auto insurance for no apparent reason because I did not ask for it. Then he told me detailed information about the same co-worker’s home insurance that he just sold to the co-worker. He revealed some details regarding the status of my quote to that co-worker even after I stated specifically when I sent him my information; and I quote (with names and my company removed in the parenthesis) "Though it goes without saying I will state it for the record anyway. (co-workers name) and (my company name) do not know of the (info I wanted not disclosed to company and co-worker) and that information, so please do not mention it when quoting (co-worker)."

Now I don't know how to get my information scrubbed from the State Farm site. Could you imagine if I were letting him quote for one of their financial programs not just insurance? He would have even more information to share with other people. I am sorry but I don't trust State Farm and will tell everyone I know, “Run if approached by State Farm.” I also understand State Farm probably does not encourage this type of behavior. However (this part is second hand), the actual agent was standing next to him when he was discussing my quote with my co-worker. So I don't think this particular agent discourages this behavior either. Unbelievable, they allow such behavior with their personal account representatives. But I realize now I should have expected such behavior from an individual who is willing to walk off a job like he did. I will certainly be protecting my information going forward so that I don't end up in this situation again.

Talking down to customers seems to be a prerequisite for employment, at least in the total loss claims department. A State Farm customer hit me and totaled our car. When trying to seek basic information, you get a lot of "I told you this already" in the tersest manner as if one were a child. I’m sure they are happy relating these stories to one another of how they "really told him/her off" after the phone call is over. But it strikes me funny that a company that spends millions trying to gain customers treats people so very badly. The good news is that they got to scold me, but I get to encourage all my friends and family not to use State Farm. And I have a lot.

After leaving a distressing voice mail to my new agent, she promptly returned my call and is submitting an appeal on my behalf. I will see where it leads. I told her I did not mean to "shoot the messenger". It is the underwriters and the risk assessment that are to blame. VA insurance commissioners are probably "in the pockets" too. At least my agent was compassionate and took the time to get many details and to advocate on my behalf. If all goes well, I will certainly recommend her to my friends/family. Thank you.

Three weeks removed from a crash that was the fault of a State Farm policy holder, I am still waiting for assistance from them. There has been no attempt by SF to contact me, much less get my vehicle repaired. Every contact I have had with them had to be initiated by me. In most cases, I have not received call backs when I was told I would. Perhaps it would mean something if I was their customer, but it has been made painfully obvious that since I'm not, they couldn't care less about me. At this point, they've made me very happy to be an Allstate customer.

If I could give lower than 1 star right now, I would. After being a loyal customer for 42 years, the latter of them being with my husband and 3 sons (for auto ins.) and insuring my home with State Farm, I received a cancellation notice today for our vehicles due to a report from their contracted 'risk assessment' company. They listed any infractions by those on the policy (currently 4) most negligible. My husband did have a DUI (his 1st, but a crime comparable to murder in the lovely state of Virginia) in 2011 but was told by our State Farm agent at the time that that wouldn't pose a problem to our car ins. policy. He had had a totally clean record before that. No speeding tickets, nothing. We trusted them and then this.

I have paid out so much money to State Farm throughout the 42 years. I have been a loyal customer (though I don't know why now). I paid tough premium rates when my 3 boys started driving at age 16 and watched my premiums increase every time there was a minor fender-bender so they wouldn't have to shell out a dime. This is totally a racket. I guess I've been a bit naive. Part of ObamaCare was to 'reign in' the crooks in the medical insurance industry. We need something similar for the car insurance industry as well.

Some folks at State Farm are raking in bonuses when they drop their 'loyal customers' after bleeding them dry. It is probably easier and cheaper to purchase, use and sell guns in this country than to drive a vehicle. What gives? Any insight would be appreciated. Oh, and State Farm has the nerve at the same time to mail my 24 year old son at my house an invitation to join the State Farm family for all of his insurance needs. Are they crazy?

I have had our car insurance for 4 cars, homeowner's policy, and my husband's business policy with Dave ** for over 20 years. My son had called for rental insurance on February 12. He had rental insurance previously but he canceled it in 2011. The person he talked to later left a voicemail stating what the amount would be and to call back because she wanted to talk to him about car insurance since she saw he was on my policy. He did not call back because he wasn't interested in a change in car insurance and he had the understanding that she was moving forward with the rental insurance they had previously discussed and this would be billed to him. She did not mention anything in her voicemail that she needed a payment or to talk to him to move forward.

March 2, the property he was renting was destroyed in a fire. When he called for a claim, he was told there was no coverage. I requested a meeting with Dave ** to discuss the misunderstanding. He was very condescending, arrogant and disrespectful. He kept reminding us that he has been in the business for 38 years and why would we think he had coverage without actually making a payment. I stated there were numerous instances where I didn't have to make an immediate payment because it was billed. He was very argumentative and asked me for examples. My son was very upset having just survived the fire and being treated like this. My son told him he was being disrespectful and he did use some swear words. Instead of Mr. ** taking into the account the trauma my son had just gone through, he stated that my son talking like that showed his intelligence. I asked him if we could play the voicemail message to show why we had the misunderstanding and he responded, “If it makes you feel better.”

I asked why wouldn't they follow up with a phone call if they had not heard from my son for 2 weeks. He responded they don't follow up with people who inquired about rental insurance. I took that to mean he doesn't value their business and certainly didn't value our business as long term customers. Not one time did he express sympathy or concern for my son surviving the fire.

They have more than doubled my premium for an economy car. I have only one car. I have written a complaint earlier about them cancelling my policy during hurricane Sandy, when they were not allowed to cancel anyone's policy, even if they didn't pay them. And I paid them. Now, because they had to, they increased my premium again. I did not even report a claim. They have also said something about me having to write to them, and I couldn't call them. So they won't even let me report a claim. They should be blown off the face of this earth. And all the agencies and complaint bureaus and everyone else, including all the regulators and investment banks and rating agencies and media, should also be blown off the face of the earth because they haven't done anything about any of what I have written or complained about. These are serious complaints against them and they belong in jail for what they do and did, nothing less than jail, let alone the million or 2 that they owe me for what they have done and that would not even make up for it.

I feel State Farm isn’t holding to its terms signed. I have had multiple problems with my car not being adequately fixed (not properly) being my check engine light came on not even a mile from the shop. It still had manifold O2 sensors and misfires and a few other trouble codes and it was scheduled to be back to VW instead of the other shop. And the car was stolen three days before it was scheduled to be towed to the VW service and it was stationary until stolen. The wrong oil was put in the car. The engine was completely blown and several other issues and State Farm is not wanting to fix the vehicle but I have to pay 6 and 700 a month for full coverage. I am outraged with the hassle and trouble and debt they have put me in. It has been at Volkswagen service department for over five months and they are trying to take ownership of my vehicle now.

I called Steve Ford Agency at 9:00am CST to speak with Shara(?). I did not get the card ... No one answered locally nor was there an answering machine saying if they were open or not (customer service thought they maybe closed for President's Day). A call in should at least explain what is going on at the local agency including the hours open and perhaps a telephone number to be called if the call is urgent, etc.

Instead, I was holding and holding; then someone answered and I asked if they were in Manitowoc and she said Bloomington. I don't have a lot of time to explain how upset I was, as Steve Ford Agency sent me (3) three mailings about checking out their coverage. The Bloomington customer service rep and Ms. Amy, the manager, kept repeating, "I understand. I understand." And finally I said, "No, you do not understand." They didn't know if the agency would be open or not. Maybe they are closed for Pres. Day. Maybe they didn't flip their telephone to local office answering. These explanations were repeated over and over again, with absolutely no resolutions.

I concluded the 25-minute call by saying, "Make sure Steve Ford Agency does not contact me in anyway and to take me off their mailing list." I also asked a complaint be submitted about the Steve Ford Agency's lack of customer service and, additionally, about the original person who answered the telephone call at corporate headquarters. She was of no help whatsoever! Ms. Amy advised me that she would talk with her supervisor and review the conversation if indeed it was recorded. My rating on my experience with State Farm Insurance is very unprofessional.

They are nasty, disgusting, despicable people. That is all to say at the very extreme least. They wrongly decided on an accident and blamed me for something that I wasn't responsible for. Worst, they spoke down on me. They stole my money and then cancelled a policy. They literally spit on me, and that is the least of what they did. And for absolutely no reason, except for blaming me for whatever they blamed me, which had nothing to do with me, I pay them and then they cancel. Then, they had to reinstate because they were worse than wrong; but they doubled my premium rates and made it impossible for me to get any other insurance.

I complained to the NYS Department of Insurance. The State Farm responded to my complaint on October 29, 2012, the day of the very big storm in the northeast region (Sandy). On that date, I suppose they had nothing else to do but to respond to the Department of Insurance with all lies, except telling them that they cancelled both my auto and my home owners policy (on the day of the storm). And with no reason, except the lies that they made up, they would not let me speak to anyone about it; they would just hang up on me. I never heard of an insurance company hanging up on anyone; they are worse than children. They take my money and my time, and then they literally beat me up. If I don't let them, they say that I'm not respectful. I can't even begin to tell you what a horrible, unethical, miserable group of people they are; whoever they are.

Then they reinstated 4 months later, raised my premium, and doubled it again for a minor parking lot accident that was not my fault. They have falsely reported to the credit bureaus and to the clue reports or driving reports. They tell me that there is no agent, and I have to deal with their Operations Center; who only hangs up on me when I would call them. They lied to the Department of Insurance and perhaps, they are the ones to blame in the first place, along with the rating agencies. But whatever they did to me, and continue to do, they could even be considered criminals. I paid them their premium after the storm; without even reporting a claim, they wouldn't allow me to. They turn around and cancelled my policy even after I paid them their exorbitant and unjust rates. They said that I told them to cancel my policy, which is why they didn't send any notice or give any reason.

I most certainly did not cancel my policy. I wouldn't have paid them if I meant to cancel; I did not cancel my own policy. They totally lied about everything and the NYS Department of Insurance has done nothing to rectify any of it. They are also too busy trying to find a reason or excuse for State Farm so that they can come back to me and tell me, again, that they can do anything that they want to do. The New York governor even issued a special rule during the big storm in October stating that the insurance companies cannot take any actions against anyone’s policy in the regions affected; and that was for 3 months after the storm. They cancelled my policy a month after the storm, and after I paid them their increased unjustified rates, without notice or reason except to say that I cancelled my own policy. Even after the storm, they were right there on me, seemingly so.

They are stalking, discriminating, directly, and intentionally causing me worse problems. These are hate crimes, if nothing else. I would press criminal charges, but I do not even know who to press them against; the original agent? I don't even know. But whoever is causing these problems belongs in a place worse than the jail for what they are doing. I am not getting any help from anyone. This is just a tiny example of what I have had to deal with. It is a good example of a sick person who has nothing better to do but to make things difficult for me; which could also stem from the mailing address that I provided. Usually, someone gets insurance for protection. In this case, they just take the money and spit on me. All of this may not sound like a big problem, but like I've mentioned, this is the very, very least of it; just a tiny example.

The insurance company was not allowed to cancel anyone’s policy for 3 months after the super storm in October 2012, no matter what. Not only did they cancel my policy for no reason, they also took a great deal of money from me first, and didn't even allow me to call or report anything during the storm; and I was still covered then. Like I said in the last report, words cannot even explain what they have done and continue to do to me. I hate to use these terms, but it is very close to attempted murder, with no exaggeration. I have tried to contact the police, but they are just as threatening to me and do absolutely nothing to help; which probably means that they are involved as well. I don't want to get too far-fetched, but no one should make anyone and put anyone through what I have been forced to deal with. I don't think that what I have written is too far-fetched either.

To have people call me and leave me messages, in tones in which they have been left, is inexplicable; and not even infuriating. Most likely, it could stem from someone who once thought that he owned me, or that he could abuse me the way that he did and has. I shouldn't have to rack my brains trying to figure it out. I should not be having any problems, and it is only others that cause the problems for me; they stomp all over me, as if they think they know me when they most certainly do not. Like I said, they belong in jail for what they have done to me and for what they continue to do. Jail would be too good for them. After the storm, they let up for about a day and then they reverted back to whatever they were doing to me before the storm. They blamed everything on me - all their claims and all their problems; all on me.

Suing would not even rectify what they've done. State Farm has over 40 million customers; 40 million. And they are directly attacking me. I even spoke to someone and said that I was someone else. They were going off on my name; they knew my name. Does everyone at State Farm know my name, even the executive customer service office? They were probably the reason for all of this; again, with no clue as to why. They passed a memo throughout their whole company with my name on it, slandering me and making up all sorts of things, to say the least; and again, with no reason. If there is a reason, they would not divulge anything about it; it’s all behind my back.

They are a multi-billion dollar company, and they have nothing better to do, or any other way to run their business, but to blame everything on me and do what they've done to me. I have no idea who is responsible for that. Well, I have documentation and everything to back up everything that I've written. Anything that they can present, I can more than refute and prove how wrong they are. Saying that they are wrong, like I've said, is an understatement. And like I've said again, words cannot even begin to explain what State Farm has done; whatever or whoever is responsible has done and continue to do. I have the option to add documents but there are too many to attach; whatever I would attach would not even begin to explain what they've done and are doing.

They tried to blame it on someone else too! Then when I called, some guy named Mike said to me, "Now you listen to me! I just spoke with your husband, and you're going to have to wait until I get answers!" Mind you, it had been 4 months since we moved, and they still didn't transfer our policy! I have to say that I have been a State Farm customer for 20 years. Through this time, I have insured 3 different houses, a life insurance policy, and two teenage drivers. I'm now in the market for a new insurance company. Both of my "already older cars to begin with" have aged and depreciated in the past 4 years, but my insurance rate has stayed the same. I have no tickets and no accidents on my driving record. My driving record has been clean, clean, clean all the way through. I removed my son from my account 3 years ago. My insurance did not decrease. I recently reduced one vehicle to liability only, and sent my agent an email asking to remove my daughter from my insurance (because she is now married with her own insurance).

State Farm failed to remove her. Not only did they fail to remove her, but my insurance has increased. So I've been on the phone for over an hour this morning trying to figure out what is going on. One online rep said, "Ma'am, this takes time." My thoughts: Well it didn't take time to increase my rate. Today, my agent, who I corresponded with through email 3 weeks ago, said he needs my daughter's new insurance paperwork in order to remove her from my account. He failed to let me know any of this. I would not have known if I had not decided to check online to see if she had been removed. Don't bother calling the 1-800 number. They can do nothing for you.

I was stopped at a red light and was rear-ended by a young girl who was texting. She hit me so hard that her car went under mine. I suffered a closed head injury with traumatic brain Injury. I had 2 neurologists and my own physician and a neuro-ophthalmologist and a neuro physician. They all agreed on the findings. Then State Farm started sending me to their doctors where I was treated like a criminal. All their doctors disagreed with my doctors but one. I ended up in arbitration. I got 48,000 dollars which I won't see a penny of that because I have 80,000 dollars in doctor bills. They called these doctors IME.

Well, my neurologist is an IME and this is what he told me. They sent the doctor a separate form to fill out to say that there is nothing wrong with you and then State Farm pays that doctor a nice chunk of change. Meanwhile, my whole life has changed. I still have to see a neurologist and go to a pain management clinic and I can't afford to go to PT. I did have good credit until this accident. This is why State Farm had to do a commercial about you can't believe everything you hear on the internet.

Well, State Farm, there goes another lie. I hope that State Farm members read this and drop them because Heaven forbid you should be in an accident that was no fault of your own. Please forgive me if everything is not spelled correctly or words may be skipped that's part of my brain injury. This accident happened two years ago in Michigan and the adjuster I had to deal with has a reputation as being a witch which I am using a better word than the people I met that had her and are still going through hell. I pray everyday for this lady because I know she'll have a higher power to answer to.

I am not a customer of State Farm, thank God. I was injured Nov. 29, 2011 when their State Farm-insured driver rear-ended my vehicle. My car was repaired on time and at no cost to me. However, I incurred about $5,000 in medical bills from four different medical providers and State Farm has yet to pay any of them one cent. I have complained that this accident is their responsibility but they will not pay anything until the claim is settled. In the meantime, these four providers are making threatening collection calls to me and negatively affecting my credit rating and credit history. I am still injured from this accident; however, I cannot seek the additional medical care I need as the first $5,000 still remains unpaid by State Farm.

I have tried to settle the claim with them but the offer I have received is so ridiculously low I turned it down. To summarize, they basically have me in a headlock. They won't pay the $5,000 owed to my medical providers and some of the bills are over a year old. I can't seek the additional medical treatment I need as the original bills remain unpaid. I won't settle until they make an offer that covers my outstanding medical bills and covers me for my time and expenses incurred in the several months I received medical care as well as my pain and suffering. I had to quit my golf league in the summer and my bowling league during the winter months because of my injuries. State Farm has not taken care of me and will not negotiate in good faith.

The excuse is that the quote at the agent’s office did not pick up the information correctly even though they are supposedly using a computer system that is supposed to link to State Farm rates. I will be shopping around. No one notified me that there was such a major screw up - I just got a big "surprise" in the mail the other day. I have never had such a major screw up in my life. I just wanted to let you know about the 'wonderful' service I'm getting from State Farm following an accident my girlfriend and I suffered in April 2012 in New York. It is now January 2013 and I have still yet to receive repayment of my deductible from their subrogation team despite they and the NYPD deeming the other driver 100% responsible (he was racing another car on the freeway and span out of control, t-boning our vehicle). They have said that as the at-fault party's insurer (in this case, Countrywide) is holding out until a court case is presented and the court date is not until April 8, 2014 (nearly 2 years following the accident), they are unable to make an exception and refund my deductible (which I'm holding as a balance on my credit card and it is subsequently costing me money in interest charges).

I have spoken to State Farm customers who have been in similar accidents where the other party has been at fault and they have been made whole soon after the claim was lodged, so I do not understand what is different in my case. I even emailed the CEO/President of State Farm, Ed Rust, and that went nowhere fast. All in all, State Farm are not living up to their motto of being a 'Good Neighbor' and quite frankly I can't understand their position at all if they wish to provide customer satisfaction and maintain goodwill.

Because the kid that hit me was not insured, I was forced to go after my "Uninsured Motorist" coverage with my insurance, State Farm! For those that don't know what that is, it is the amount of coverage you pay exorbitant premiums for to cover yourself and your family in case you are hit by an uninsured person. I believe that the minimum amount of coverage you are required to carry in Utah is $25,000.00, but you can go as high as $500,000.00. The more coverage you want, the higher your premiums will be.

I was at a complete stop, waiting for an oncoming car to pass so that I could make a left hand turn into a parking lot, and was hit from behind by a distracted 17-year old driving a full size GMC truck doing 45mph. My vehicle sustained $8,000.00 in damage. I sustained a concussion, a labral tear in my right shoulder, central disc herniations at C4-5 and C5-6, along with disc herniations at L5-S1. To correct these injuries, I will require an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion at C4-5 and C5-6, as well as either a microlumbar discectomy at L5-S1 on the left and/or possibly anterior posterior spine reconstruction at L5-S1.

My uninsured motorist coverage was $100,000.00. My current medical expenses to date, excluding these surgeries, are $28,764.63. I have spent the last two years fighting for the coverage limits of $100,000.00 that I have paid my monthly premiums on to State Farm for the last 16 years - on time, every month. I have never had a ticket, never had an accident, and never filed a claim. The estimated cost of the surgeries is $211,900.00.

Mark **, the attorney for State Farm, claims that I suffered a lumbar strain as a result of this accident; and even more disturbing is the fact that he stated under oath that it is his opinion that I will never have the surgery because I am dying of breast cancer. Well, let me tell you. I am not going through the hell of chemotherapy, affectionately known as "red death," a double mastectomy, and 25 doses of radiation for any other reason than to live! How this man can look himself in the mirror and be proud of what he does is beyond me, but you can rest assured that I hope he gets everything he deserves in life!

For your information, State Farm and Allstate are two of the worst insurance companies to pay you for any injuries you might sustain in a car accident! We have changed insurance carriers and are getting twice the coverage for half of the premiums we were previously paying. Please pass this along to your friends and let people know what true slugs represent State Farm and get paid to insure that you do not get what is rightfully yours!

She made the mistake and put my payment onto someone else's policy that had a different car than mine but the same name. They refused to refund me for the issue made on their part. Then, they refused to refund me the money owed for the tow I had to get for my car even though it was a part of my coverage. I'm canceling my policy with these thieves hoping they'll refund me back the money left on the policy because I've read complaints that they don't do that either!

I have been a customer of State Farm for over 25 years, having had family auto, HOA, renters and life insurance. I have just been informed that State Farm will be dropping me on 2/1/2013 or re-rating me with a 400% premium increase. The reason State Farm gives me is that I am a bad driver based on one moving violation in 2011 and a small accident in 3/2011. The moving violation I acknowledge, it was a rolling stop. However, the accident was non-injury and resulted when I nudged my girlfriend’s car while backing out of garage. I specifically asked my agent at that time if making a claim would cause me to be dropped. The answer I received was "no".

Unfortunately, due to 2 intense family sicknesses (one chronic for my now ex-wife, and a fatal prognosis for my now 7-year old son), I had some severe financial setbacks and just bad luck. As the sole care provider of my son, I have been responsible for all his care, chemo and managing his over 70 surgeries. As can be imagined, the costs are incredible in terms of expense, stress and time. The financial stress of having my auto premium go from $70 to $260 a month is hard to adapt to and even harder to reconcile as due to my "risk". I suspect that State Farm is more likely pruning itself of less profitable clients. As result of my recent setbacks, I no longer have multiple cars in the household (divorce). I no longer have HO insurance (lost the home to foreclosure).

I also was unlucky in having 3 claims that were no fault. Each of those claims was not disputed as to being the responsibility of third parties. None the less, State Farm no doubt views the payouts as not particularly profitable. Notwithstanding the fact that other parties either admitted to the liability or there were witnesses to the claim incidents. In closing, I feel it is absolutely predatory for an insurance company to seek only customers that pay dutiful premiums and rarely if ever make a legitimate claim. Unfortunately, due to my financial circumstance, my recent misfortune and perhaps my stubborn disposition, I cannot accept these rate changes without inquiry or challenge. Thank you.

After 40 years of having State Farm Insurance, they informed us that we are longer able to renew our automatic renewal policy. They told us years ago that they can never cancel our policy for any reason whatsoever. However, if they decide they don't want you any more, they simply change the rules. And yes, they looked into a problem over a year old, and even though it was cleared up, that was not good enough for them. They simply said find insurance elsewhere; this after over 40 years of loyal service. Obviously, State Farm is not interested in staying in business but rather another company going out of business real soon.

I really thought that State Farm was probably the best company out there. But after this experience, I will make it a point to hit every blog and internet feedback site, BBB, whatever the case to let my experience be known. I was in an auto accident on 11/5/2012. On 11/30/2012, State Farm still had not processed the claim. In fact, they had spent the entire month chasing their tails instead of calling the finance company to determine the problem. Two things happened on 11/30 (a Friday). First, I was asked by a State Farm claims agent and my agent to call the finance company. I believe they did this thinking I would have no success and side with them. To the contrary, the finance company was very helpful and told me what was needed. I called State Farm back and told them what the finance company told me. By the following Monday, the wheels were rolling again. With no experience in insurance, I did in 15 minutes what the "experts" at State Farm couldn't do in a month.

The second thing that happened on 11/30 was that my rental car coverage reached its limit. This was extended to 12/3/2012, which is the date I was informed my claims agent, Lynn **, would be returning to work from her 2-week vacation. To cut a long story short, the rental car issue went to management - a Ms. Liza **. She determined that as the policy limits was reached, they would have no more involvement in paying for the rental car.

Bottom line, State Farm totally disregards their customers. I have been with them for almost 20 years. This is my first claim. I am in a situation out of my control that I hire State Farm to deal with. Despite not dealing with the problem, their answer to their failures is to say time has lapsed so it is now the customer's problem, thank you for paying your premiums on time all these years, goodbye. I would have been better off self-insuring than paying these **. If the state is going to require citizens to have insurance, why don't they police these cowboys? Well, I didn't go to law school to put up with hacks like this. I am preparing a lawsuit, which will demand much more than the cost of a rental car. If you are not a lawyer, get one before going anywhere near this company.

Compulsory insurance and State Farm insurance - It seems that when State Farm is against State Farm, State Farm clients lose. If State Farm is against the County (they have what is called "self-insurance"), then you must request payment on the damages from County officials, not the insurance company, per se. But in this state, they do not pay fair market value, i.e. 25% lower than the lowest body shop bid. State Farm requires that their lawyers "represent you," but the beater doesn't get fixed! Bottom line: all of these cases potentially could go to court. Each gets a civil judgment. No need for compulsory insurance since a nice car, or bank-owned, is fully insured, already. Might want to look into "sovereign citizen" way to not have corporate insurance.

I went to Lowe's to pick out new faucets for bath and kitchen. When I got in my Jeep, I noticed damage to my left side mirror. It was around 9:00PM and dark, so I could not tell the extent of damages. When I got up to go to work the next morning, I noticed scratches on the Jeep's hood (a few) and a minor dent on the left side door. I called my agent then and told him the incident details. I asked him if I had the insurance company pay for the damages (I carry a $1,000.00 deductible), would they hold it against me - as I cannot control what happens in Lowe's parking lot? "No, no, no," they said. But they did anyway and I know this for a fact because I am insurance shopping now and the other insurance companies say State Farm claims that I caused an accident.

This is a lie and fraudulent behavior. I want the record set right. I want my insurance file corrected. I am not giving up. I have many other complaints with the California, Maryland State Farm company but I'm just too angry to discuss this (that) matter further. I have always liked State Farm until I needed to actually use them. If I have reached your headquarters office, I'm being told that it's you guys playing me like a yo-yo. Thank you.

She was charged with careless driving, failure to yield and failure to provide proof of insurance. As it turns out, she had State Farm as well. Her policy must have been better than ours because State Farm fought hard to back her up. The woman denied fault and changed her story multiple times. It took over three months for them to reach a conclusion - that they were both partially at fault.

We are now in the process of suing the woman at fault and the DA told us that we have a solid case. To make matters worse, every agent we spoke with at State Farm was terribly rude and knew very little about our case. My daughter was recently in an accident. I have had insurance with State Farm for a couple of years. In July, I lost my debit card and failed to realize that the automatic draft to pay my bill was tied to that card number. In August, I realized it - don't remember if State Farm contacted me or what, but I went into the office, paid my bill, gave them a new card number and signed a form giving them permission to draft my account. They had difficulties with processing this payment, and I had to get proof from my bank that it had in fact been processed. I was told that it did show up at the main corporate office and it should show up the next day once the system caught up.

Anyway, on Oct. 31, my daughter was in an accident. State Farm says I have no insurance - I have no insurance because they never processed my payment. Their reasoning is because they said they gave me notice by mail - one letter. They are not taking any responsibility for their representative not doing her job. I am at a loss for words. I am a single mom that works full-time and I attend school part-time. Just recently, I started also working another part-time job. They plan on going after me to pay for the damages. I told State Farm that I hope they feel good about doing this and not taking responsibility for their mistake. All they could tell me over and over is "You should have opened your mail and you should have checked on it." I don't understand why it is my job to make sure they do their job? Is that not what we pay them for? Is State Farm a company that does not take ownership when they make errors? They just look for any loophole to make you at fault?

I am insured with State Farm and was recently rear-ended by an uninsured driver. (A police report was filed stating that the uninsured driver was 100% at fault.) I called the State Farm claims department the day of the incident to report what had happened. Two weeks later, I had not heard anything from State Farm, so I called in, and they let me know they were "having trouble" obtaining the police report and that it would take more time. A week and a half after that I called back in and they were "still having trouble" obtaining the police report. That day, I decided to obtain the police report myself (which I was able to get in about 20 minutes). I then called the claims department and spoke with a representative who gave me a fax number to send the police report to.

I immediately faxed over the report and received confirmation that it was received. This happened on a Friday, so I called back on Tuesday to see how much longer it would be (since it was about a month at this point) and was told that no fax had been received; they offered no explanation as to why. (This concerns me in and of itself, as my address, driver’s license number, etc., were in the police report, which is now lost). I then spoke with a representative who said that she would email me a secured link to email the police report to. I confirmed the email address multiple times; however, I never received an email from her/State Farm. I called back the next day, and a representative who sounded extremely annoyed stated, "Oh, we have the police report now. We're working on it." She did not say if they had found my fax or if they had finally been able to get it on their own. (This also annoys me because I went to the police station on my lunch hour and paid for a police report.)

Now, it will take an additional 14 days to get any sort of answer, as that is how long the uninsured party has to respond to their request. What this means is it will be 2 months since the accident took place that I am able to get my car fixed. I have been completely disappointed in my experience with State Farm. They not only made me feel like a nuisance the entire way through, but they also made me lose faith completely in their company. Not once did State Farm offer any empathy/concern/apology that I had been in a car accident that damaged my car and was 100% not my fault, that they had lost my documents, that I have been driving with a damaged car for coming up on two months, or that they have never once contacted me to let me know what was going on.

I am a Durham, N.C. resident. I purchased my home in 1995, my first home ever. I had to shop around for insurance. I do not know how and why I selected State Farm. I made a major mistake in my life. My agent's name is Chuck **. He has no compassion. As long as you are making your payment, all is well. Just do not make a claim. You will be in trouble.

I had a water line break under the driveway, water everywhere. I called Chuck (State Farm agent). They outright turned me away stating that I was not covered. The damage was overwhelming to say the least. That was in December of 2007. In 2010, I came home one evening and I had a theft. This was a shock to me as I never had this happen before in my lifetime. In 2012, I had a water leak. If I had known that State Farm would leave me out in the cold like this, I would have cancelled the policy. So now State Farm outright refused to reinstate my policy.

After seventeen long years, where is Customers for life? I called Chuck. He was very rude. He spoke to me with no compassion. He frankly told me about myself and than hang up on me. Who does this to a customer? State Farm, so okay, here I go again. Chuck had my payments higher than the car payment. When I asked him about this, he mentioned something about the car having been in an accident. I explained to him that I had just purchased the car. I had only had it less than a week. He couldn't care less about what I was saying. He used and held that against me.

So yes sir, I was truly angry. You would think that this was all his money. Out of all of this, State Farm paid less than $7,000. The way I was treated, you would have thought they paid me over $100,000 and to add salt to the wound, when I called to appeal this, they had a man call me. His name was Tim **. Oh, my God, he was just as worst as Chuck ** (Guess road). He had the nerve to lie on me about me and when I tried to correct this (how did they ever become agents, no customer skill whatsoever), they were trying to make it harder for me to get any insurance. They also has falsified information about me to make it harder for me, saying that in 1996 I made claim of theft. That was not paid; that is an outright lie.

Chuck should be ashamed of himself. They should change the name to Snake Farm, since they are always trying to destroy you. God, please turn this around, back onto State Farm agents like Chuck and Tim **. Okay, cancel my policy if you will but you do not have to lie about me. I may be going too far, but I'm going to the street and anywhere else to tell everyone about how State Farm and their mistreating of valuable customers. They have never been a good neighbor. They are your worst nightmare, and always have an excuse (liars), treat you like you are a nobody. Tim also said to me that they have had customers for over thirty years who had never filed a claim. So what does that have to do with me? He's just letting me know that if they do, they will be cancelled.

The insurance commission should investigate State Farm and their practices, for God's sake. Please listen to the customers because without us, you have no business. We are the force behind them and they need to know what happens to an agent who may have some misfortune in their life and may have more than one or two claims. I wish no harm. What goes around come around, Chuck **. Listen to your customers, stop thinking that you are God. You are so ungrateful to your faithful customers.

I also had told them my son was a resident of Arizona, so he was no longer in my household. I think that may have been August of 2011. Initial e-mail was 1/3/12 about dropping a vehicle. When I got my 6-month policy premium to review at the end of March, I once again called and dealt with Christen. She was recommended by my brother. Once again, I sent another e-mail dated 3/28 asking her to take care of it and also had sent the copy of the e-mail I sent Angie. Well, once again, I got my 6-month policy premium to review; and lo and behold, the Toyota was still on there. My son was also listed as being in the household also.

Once again, I called and presently I am dealing with Susan; and quite frankly, my plan is to cancel my auto insurance with State Farm, because I seem to have been taken advantage of. My payment is due to come out on 9/28, and I am going to my Credit Union to see what I have to do to not allow the payment. I expect a full refund of what I have been overcharged. I do not want a credit to my account; I want my damn money back. I am not sure what is going on in Jeremy's office, but in my opinion, there are a bunch of incompetent people employed there.

I spoke with Susan yesterday and was assured I would have an answer today. I am running out of time and seem to get nothing but excuses from anyone I deal with. I am so disappointed with the service I had gotten from your company, and as soon as I get my auto insurance taken care of, I will move on to my homeowner's (which is also with your company). I sure hope that between the 3 or 4 of you, you do the right thing and refund my money; or I will keep pursuing until I get my money. I guess I expect things need to move a little faster, being I have a disabled husband and am on a fixed income and really cannot afford to piss my money away. So they cannot go back and charge for the 4 years, only for last month. Instead of paying $64.13, my payment this month (Sept. 2012) is now $87.27. Then next month, it will be $70.52. The extra charge is not so. When we did this payment in the beginning, we sat eye to eye (face to face) with the understanding it was from $61.00. Then they even went up higher to $64.13 as of July. Also, I had canceled one of the 3 cars, because my husband no longer drives. (He is 79 years old.)

I had State Farm for years, no complaints. But the day my son was rear ended on the freeway by another car (much heavier), it ended. The car did considerable rear end damage to my son's car, but little to their own car. Both cars, it turned out, were insured by State Farm. The State Farm inspector made the simple statement, "We don't believe that that much damage could have been caused by the car you claimed hit you. Claim denied." So not only did they refuse the claim, they in effect called my son a liar. Now I ask, if another car had hit him (rear end damage) - why wouldn't we have claimed it at the time? Not having the time or money to get a lawyer and fight it, we let it go but the memory is still fresh.

My wife and I were with State Farm for nine years in some form or another with Home Owners, Auto, and Personal Item Policies. We've paid over $5000 in premiums faithfully over this time period to Rob **, a State Farm agent in SC. My wife backed into our truck one day, so I wanted to get the car fixed as we are still paying for it. Our deductible is $1000, so they paid around $600. One year later, I backed out of a friend's driveway and didn't see the fire hydrant on the side of the driveway, and scratched the car again. Our deductible was $1000, so they paid around $300. During the same year, a bad hail storm came through, and every third house in my neighborhood had to get a new roof due to hail damage. I called for an inspection (a service paid for and included in our home policy with State Farm) to make sure our roof was okay, and they counted that as a claim. Then, I called to have the windshield on my truck filled in because of a rock chip from interstate traffic ($50 cost to State Farm; in SC windshields have to be covered free of charge per state law).

After they paid the windshield claim, I was informed that they no longer would cover us because I had exceeded the normal amount of claims for an "ideal" State Farm policy holder. I was furious, having paid them over $5000 in premiums for 9 years. With their cost only totaling $950, I could not understand why we were dropped. I called the agent, and he told me that statistically, the fourth claim in the life of a policy holder with State Farm is a "big pay-out claim," and they were not going to be caught on the hook for our potential "fourth" claim. He wasn't nice about it as he felt the need to defend State Farm. I appealed the decision, and was declined coverage again, as the underwriter affirmed State Farm's initial decision to deny my coverage due to claim activity (Note that I only appealed it because the office manager at my agent's office was angry about it as well, and she felt so compelled to call the main office of State Farm, and the underwriter told her to convey the above to me).

Not only did they drop me, but they coded us "high risk", which was going to make my premiums higher for the new coverage at any of the new companies I chose for insurance. I was even more furious at this situation when I was told the above. We were the victims of life situations, and we called our police, State Farm, and instead of helping, they raped, molested, and mutilated us!

Why pay for, and have the law mandate insurance if you're dropped when you use the coverage you pay for? It's the biggest legal scam going. Then, once they've dropped you, they can code you which makes your next policy cost higher. I will never be loyal to any company again because of this incident; I tell everybody I know, and new people I meet about my treatment at State Farm. State Farm gave our 9-year loyalty no consideration. We were a number, and we were judged, and subsequently dropped because of numbers. That's simply unacceptable!

Even the insured driver admitted to the police and my insurance adjuster. They keep saying that they could not contact the driver to hear his statement, so they could not make payment or even have my car inspected. The only response to our calls is to wait. This is the worst car insurance I have ever encountered in terms of the claim handling. I had some accidents with customers from Progressive and AAA before. All the claims were handled within a few days. So, I highly recommend to stay away from this State Farm car insurance company.

I called the agent’s office to report the wreck; they took the information and sent it to the main office. Two days later, I was told I had no coverage with them anymore. What I found out as the reason that I was dropped was because my friend who lived in the same home had his own insurance with another company. I had a head-on collision that put me down for almost a year. There was no letter from them and the only thing I could find out was there should had been a certified letter from them (State Farm). What can a person do in this mess?

State Farm has horrible customer service and they do not fix their messes in a timely manner at all. In March, I changed my name (I got married). At that time, I explained not to add my husband to the policy as he has his own policy and never drives this car. Well, they added him anyway. At that time, they also asked if I wanted to "bundle" and get homeowner's insurance. I stated no several times because I already have a great policy elsewhere. Well, they added homeowner's insurance as well without my consent. In order for my policy not to cancel, I was forced to pay about $100 extra a month due to them adding my husband anyway. I received a letter in April that he could not be insured.

From April to June, I still had to pay the extra amount for an unknown reason in order to keep my insurance active. State Farm owes me a refund of $200 due to their mistakes and it is September and I still haven't received my refund. I should have gotten it in June. I still have no answers as to when I will get my refund and I constantly have to call to try and get a resolution. All I want is my money back that I should have never had to pay! I also had to have a window replaced. I had to call and set it up myself which was okay and I did. Well, the people they chose to fix it broke all the clips in my window and didn't replace it causing my window to crack and be replaced an additional 2 times. Finally, I called State Farm in hopes for them to correct this mess and get my clips, etc. replaced and they refused. I then requested State Farm use a different company on the last install and I set all that up myself and had the clips replaced and etc.

State Farm does nothing correct but take your money out of your account the day it's due. Otherwise nothing else is corrected and nothing else gets resolved unless you push and do it yourself. Even that will take 4 months and counting. I'm a very displeased customer.

State Farm took a statement from their insured, but no statement from my son or his passenger. They did not get a copy of the accident report. They found my son at fault in less than half a day and refused to pay for our damage. I finally found someone at State Farm who said the investigation was handled inappropriately and that they would lose if the case went to arbitration. She reopened the claim, got a copy of the accident report and took a statement from my son. State Farm reversed the decision, but they still found my son 30% liable so they only paid for 70% of the damage. My insurance company (USAA) also investigated and determined that the State Farm driver was completely at fault.

A woman got out of the hummer and said she was sorry. She wanted to leave and for me to just get her information but I told her she had to wait for the police. The police came and took my statement but not my spouse who was with me in the car. He told me I could leave.

When I got the accident report, it said conflicting stories about what happened. The girl lied to the officer and said that I was in her lane, but she got a citation for a suspended driver's license. The hummer belonged to her friend, who was insured by State Farm, and he gave her permission to drive his car. State Farm would not admit to liability saying that they were going to believe the woman's story.

My wife does not count as a witness. I said that the car should not have been on the road because of the suspended license. State Farm said a suspended drivers license means nothing, "too bad, we won't assume liability." So to all police officers who give people tickets for suspended driver's license, why bother, according to State Farm, when it means nothing.

In May 2012, I went through a flood water situation and my car drove through 4 feet of water. My car was immediately towed to Mercedes Benz of Miami due to the fact that State Farm's "preferred" shops all refused me and told me to take it to the dealer and that only they can work on it. The dealer recommended a lot of services to be performed but in the end, only 3 oil changes and a few sensors were changed. The total bill was $2,100.00 (I paid $500.00). A month later, my engine rod flies out the motor and cracks the block. This is pretty obvious that they missed a repair or State Farm never authorized repair because my engine was in pristine condition before this incident.

The best part is my service records indicate "low compression" at the time the car was compression tested and they also stated my car was "misfiring" and that after 3 oil changes they could not remove the "slush" in the engine. State Farm and my dealership still released the car back to me in this condition. Now, I am being asked to pay for a $12,000 motor and State Farm is telling me that this is Mercedes’ fault for not doing the repair correctly and Mercedes is telling me this is due to "flood water intrusion".

I am at a loss. I can barely afford an attorney and now I have to bear the burden of paying $180.00 weekly for a rental car that I am not even enjoying. State Farm and Mercedes Benz of Miami has completely lost all my trust, period. Being a loyal customer to them for 6 years, this is what I get. Six years isn’t a whole lot but I’ve only been driving for 6 years. This is ridiculous.

I recently received a letter from State Farm advising that they were dropping my motorcycle insurance due to claims. There were two claims listed, one was a not-at-fault accident where I was rear ended as the last of a 5-car collision to be rear ended and the other claim was under $1,000. I was at fault as I backed in to someone with my car. Both of the accident were in my car and not my motorcycle, which has never had a claim. I came form a State Farm family with relatives as agents and I once worked in my father's State Farm agency.

I called my agent's office, which no one ever speaks to the agent as they are never in, so I spoke to the representative who I asked to write an appeal form me as my family has been insured with State Farm for over 40 years. I personally have been insured with State Farm for over 29 years with no accidents or tickets on the motorcycle and the company was cancelling based off of a not-at-fault and at-fault accident under $1,000. The representative came back to me several days later and said she won the appeal and they will reinstate in their standard company, but not the mutual company I was currently in. The price difference was supposed to be a $40.00 increase, so I advised to proceed with binding the coverage.

My policy was due to expire on July 23 and when that day passed and I still didn't have a policy or ID card, I called the agent's office. The representative said she forgot to collect the money the last time we talked and so the policy was not reinstated. I was very upset and wanted my policy put back in place as discussed earlier, with the same effective date as the expiration. She later came back to me with an increase of over $200.00 for the renewal. I asked what happened with the quote several weeks back that was a $40.00 increase and I was told that quote was incorrect because she placed the coverage back in Mutual when quoting.

With my back up against the wall, I paid the increase because no other company would go back and issue the policy with the same expiration date. I purchased another policy today from another standard carrier and the difference for one year of coverage is $552.00, with additional coverages State Farm didn't quote. I am looking to move my auto coverage next. I do not need a good neighbor like that in my life and I'm guessing neither do you. Goodbye Snake Farm!

What a three-ring circus. I contacted a local agent three weeks before our commercial liability policy with another company was to renew. I provided all of the requested information and was told that "the underwriter" was being consulted at every step along the way. Meantime, instead of doing her due diligence on the policy I called her about, this "representative" immediately began snooping into other policies that we had (something I guess they have access to) and started hustling us for those lines of business as well. I moved three policies over before they had to admit (right on top of the expiration of my existing policy) that they would not cover us for the policy I initially contacted them about. Of course, they deposited my check even though they knew they couldn't write my policy.

Everyone's worst fear is what I am now dealing with. I had to madly scramble to get insurance because I cancelled my other policy based on the assurances (including an evidence of insurance) they provided. This included having to write a second huge check. What business has that kind of money right now? I still haven't received a refund. I receive promises that it will be processed, but of course no check. I can't talk to anyone but the incompetent or slimy agent who did this. If I try going higher up in the State Farm food chain, I am immediately referred back to the train wreck that did this. They have you by the short hairs and know it. It's obvious by how smug they are.

This insurance agent is either very incompetent or very dishonest because, apparently, All State Farm agents know that they don't write policies for our line of work. Just to test the theory, I called four other State Farm agents and was shut down the minute they ran my license. Every single one of them told me immediately that they don't write my line of work. Since this is standard knowledge, the Department of Insurance confirmed that I should have been notified that they don't cover my line of work the second I provided my license, the second day after I contacted them.

The best part was when the owner of the agency called me at 5:30pm, bristling because "he was working overtime" trying to get the underwriter to change her mind. Newsflash, I didn't want them to change their mind. I wanted him to tear up my check, not deposit it and let me renew my existing policy. Actually, a simple "no" would have been great. This outfit even suggested that I cancel my license so that I would "fit" into their policy. Hello? If I had thought about it, I would have suggested that he give up his license. I especially didn't want a policy that would be questioned the second I called in a claim. Particularly when I already had a policy that covered me adequately.

So, bottom line: I have this hassle and I still can't get my money back on a policy they issued despite a definitive "no" from their underwriter. On the plus side, I am filing a formal complaint with the Department of Insurance and I will take every opportunity to warn people about this tacky business and its practices.

I'm not an agent and didn't know until the crisis that I had to have an additional water back-up plan, which my agent finally told me it would have only cost me $35 a year. His staff has offered me all kinds of marketing with regards to my car and knew I had a finished basement and never told me I needed sewage, water back-up etc. I thought this was included. I refuse to be treated this way and I don't believe that particular office on 2500 W Dublin Granville Road had ever had my best interest at heart and I no longer want them representing me and I don't want others to get treated this way. I can never get a straight answer and be careful of the insurance you are seeking. Don't let them tell you what you want, do your homework. It’s your money and we are why they are there in the first place, my soon to be ex-agent and his staff still don't get it. Not a care in **’s voice, no feeling whatsoever and oh, I must throw this in. I finally arranged a meeting with my agent for this Friday at 10 am since I never met him in like 12 years or ever.

I just received an email from ** again saying since my agent needs to come over to my condo anyhow for an inspection, they decided to cancel my meeting for Friday and decided to do the meeting at my condo that day instead, never asking me or considering my feelings or plans because that office thinks they can do whatever they want. We have been with State Farm over 11 years and I had no problem with them until a year ago. I received my policy and realized that my premium went up. I was paying $844.29 every six months for full coverage but when I received my new policy, it was $1,071.46 for six months. When I got a chance to call to ask why the hike in my premium, they couldn't give me a correct answer. They said for me to look over my policy and see if I really need certain things like the comprehensive and to call back. But the last time I checked, they are the agent, not me. They should be looking to help my pocket not theirs. But as I see, that is not the case. Within this time, I had a lapse in insurance because of them not notifying me in time with things. So DMV asked us to surrender our plates, which we did and had to take the car off the road because they said we had to wait for 28 days before we can register our car.

After calling State Farm and asking why we were not notified that our registration was suspended, they couldn't tell me. So, we had to wait out the suspension and when we register the car, we have to send a copy to them of the suspension so they will make an adjustment on our insurance that was already paid. My premium was due on July 6th but with the way the economy is, I couldn't pay half on that $1071.46 but send a payment of $179.50 to do monthly installments, in which they cashed the check. So, I thought everything was okay until I received a letter on July 27, 2012 with the refund of the $179.50 and I was told to pay either the $538.73 or the total balance of $1071.46. I deposited the check and issued my credit card number for payment. As of today, August 10th, I checked my credit card to make sure the payment was taken out and it wasn't. I called them right away and asked if they received my payment. They said no. I told them that I sent the information over a week ago with the letter stating that I had to pay half to keep my policy current and they told me it was cancelled on July 6. But how can that be if they deposited my check for the $179.50? That means they accepted it.

The letter didn't state that I had no insurance. So as I am speaking to Ellen, she told me very rudely that they sent a letter and they emailed and texted me about it. I asked, "What email add did you send it to?" She said she didn't have that information in front of her, but she did have the information that my policy was cancelled. I asked her what number did they text to. She repeated my home number but the last time I checked, I don't get texts to my landline house number. So who is ** who? They are not doing their jobs as agents. All they want is the money and not to do anything for it. So with that, I called Geico, had them give me a great quote and I took it. Sorry I had to waste so much of my money on a company that doesn't care.

I have been a customer of State Farm since I was 21 years old. I've always taken pride in my driving record - only one speeding ticket in my entire life, no at-fault accidents until March of 09 (over three years ago) when in an effort to avoid an accident, which would have been someone else's fault, I got into an accident causing about $1200 worth of damage to the other vehicle. I didn't repair my car. And then again in 8/10 when a lady decided to come to a complete stop right before entering a highway - with no oncoming traffic in sight causing me to slam into the back of her, causing extensive damage to my car (about $8,000) and causing her about $3,000 in damage - hers was a big car, no injuries.

I accept responsibility for those accidents and was so disappointed in myself but what could I do. I took a defensive driving class on my own for which State Farm gives no credit and vowed to never back up in any parking garage again and to never take my eyes off the person in front of me until I know for certain they are gone. My 18-year-old son started driving two years ago and last February while driving down an interstate during rainy weather, the driver in front of him pulled out of the lane unexpectedly revealing traffic was at a dead stop. My son stepped on his brake but because the road was wet, he skidded to the left staying in his own lane but the nose of his car went onto the shoulder of the road. He came to a complete stop but then was struck in the driver's side by the guy behind him. For some crazy reason, the officer gave my son the ticket but SF said it wasn't his fault and sent me the law that stated the person behind you has to be vigilant.

The guy now claims that my son hit him after hitting the embankment first and of course, the two insurance companies are going to fight it out. State Farm sent me a letter this week informing us we were not being renewed because of my two prior accidents and my son's accident. This was my son's first incident. He had no tickets, he's an honors student who attends an arts school, who did their steer clear program, and took the same defensive driving class I took, in addition to taking driver's education. 28 years of loyalty and paying to this company and having paid so much more than we have taken and this is how State Farm treats us. We have perfect credit rating and steady jobs in this crazy economy and this is how we are treated when we need our insurance company the most. Well, let me just say we don't want State Farm. To be honest, the few claims we have had were not handled well.

Years ago, my car was stolen and when I got it back, SF refused to pay for about $1000 of the damage stating it was old damage due to rust. The car was left in exceptionally rainy weather - windows open for almost a month before they found it. It was not old damage and they had pictures of the car that they took which indicated it was in pristine condition. Then there was the time when SF told me that my comprehension did not cover the bad gasoline that ruined my car so I paid for it and found out later that the girl at the office was new and didn't know. SF didn't pay me back all of the money because it was in hindsight so I was out about $200. Oh yes, even though SF said my son was not in the wrong, they still made me pay my deductible for getting the car fixed and are telling me it may take a year to get it back.

So, I called Farmer's Insurance yesterday and learned I can get insurance for $100 less a month - yes, $100 less a month for the exact same coverage. I don't know how Farmer's service is but perhaps this was kismet and it was time to say goodbye to State Farm. State Farm alleged to have mailed a letter to me requesting mileage on my vehicle, but I never received it. I went online to pay my bill and noticed that the monthly premium had increased by $85, so I called to find out why. Sophia (service rep) told me she couldn't do anything. If they said they sent a letter, then they sent it. I asked if it could have been lost in the mail or anything. She responded to me that State Farm mails never get lost. At that point, I knew I wasn't dealing with a normal person. I asked again if they could rectify the matter and her response was absolutely not. She proceeded to get loud and rude with me. I lost it at that point and let her know that she and her company were unethical and committing fraud against customers. She argued with me up and down and refused to rectify the matter. She closed by stating that she was going to have me cancelled. At this point, I want justice as it makes no sense that customers are robbed and disrespected by insurance companies when it's their error.

I believe I should not have to pay due to their mess up. Thanks for listening. I've been with State Farm for a year and half. I've never had so much issues with a company ever. Here's my story. I started paying $225.29 which everyone at work said was high, but just getting my G2, it would be high. Okay, the insurance is every 6 months, not a year. From March 2011 till July 2011, I paid $225.29. For Aug 2011 till Sept. 2011, I paid $262.99. I called and asked to find out why. I got told it went up on all boards and they couldn't tell me the reason. I find out that for everyone I know, their insurance went down. In Oct. 2011 again, it went up to $276.60, from Nov. 2011 till Jan. 2012 and it was $268.50. In Feb. 2012, it was $287.16 with still no reason why.

Then starting in March, I added a new car because I needed work on my primary car and I still needed a car so I bought another one for a limited time only and this is where it gets messy. In March 2012, I paid $411.73 and then added rental's insurance. In April 2012, I paid $336.16. I cancelled the second car. What really happened is that they didn't cancel it, they suspended it. After arguing with State Farm about getting the car cancelled for months, it was finally cancelled. July's bill showed it was cancelled. In May 2012, I paid $201.59. State Farm cancelled my primary car. Yup, that's right, they cancelled my primary car's insurance without me asking. I'm not really sure, to be honest, how long I was actually driving without insurance due to State Farm's fault. In June 2012, I paid nothing because the amount I paid for May's insurance was refunded back to me.

In July, I paid $269.07. Then they gave me a refund of $124.16 for the old car that was supposed to be cancelled back in April and told me I owe $440.43 for the difference in the premium from the effective date change and it would be spread over 3 bills because of the muti-car discount still added when the car was suspended. Now for August, it's $318.49. For August, I should be only paying $203.58 a month. Now, why the hell should I be paying back $440.43 when I asked to have the car cancelled since I didn't need it anymore and gave it to my mother and did not ask for my primary car to be cancelled? It took months of arguing with my agents about getting this cancelled. I should not have to pay this amount due to State Farm's fault. I have called the corporate office about it and they wouldn't do anything and sent me to Billing and to find out that the person I have been dealing with since I got insurance (who knew everything that was going on) no longer works there. That's just great. Let's say I'm not a happy customer and getting screwed over big time.

My insurance premiums have become out of sight! I have been with State Farm for approximately 35 years and unfortunately, was involved in 2 accidents within a 3-year period. My insurance has risen from $805.66 in June 2010 to $1,359.52 in June 2012 (for 6 months). The current bills reflect a $286.43 increase from the same time period of a year ago. In January of 2012, I made changes to my policy in effort to reduce my premium (liability bodily injury from 100/300 to 50/100, property damage from 100 to 50 and increased my deductible to 500 from 100, which lowered my premium by $301.65). However, my current 6 months came right back up to $1,359.52.

I have contacted my new agent Tony ** and he felt that I was paying too much as well. When he contacted the underwriter, he was told that there is nothing they can do because I am part of the old pricing scale and basically, my rates will only continue to escalate. The only thing I will regain is the safe driver discount when the 2nd accident reaches the 3-year mark. Even without the accidents, I was already being overcharged significantly according to Mr. **, who said "This makes no sense." I honestly do not understand how they can mistreat a loyal policy holder like this. They have honestly been making advantage of me for years and I was unaware of it. I am at a loss of what to do! All I can say is buyer beware. State Farm Insurance is not an honest company and does not value your business!

I was involved in a car accident six months ago. A big truck smashed into me in an ice-covered alley. It crushed both doors and threw the car against an adjacent building. State Farm paid for the damage to the vehicle. After a vacation road trip, I discovered my new front tires were shot. I had driven 7000 miles on a pigeon-toed front end due to bent tie rods. I called the shop that didn't fix the problem initially as well as State Farm. I showed an agent the bent tie rods and shot tires. She took pics of them as well as the tech read-out from the new alignment where I discovered the bent tie rods. The car had not been involved in any other accident between the truck hitting me and when I took it in for alignment upon returning from vacation. It had brand-new tires and an alignment just prior to the accident.

The claims agent denied the claims, saying the force of the truck hitting my car in the side did not cause the bent tie rods. I told him the force of the blow was huge and threw me and the car against the adjacent building, crushing both doors. I also told him the car had not been in any other accident. I hadn't so much as hit a pothole in the intervening time.

The additional bill was $817, which is not much compared to what I spend with these guys every year. Their adjuster was rude. Worse, his understanding of physics left much to be desired. I'm sure these guys and gals are trained to use any chance they get to deny a claim. This one was pretty simple. Huge truck smashes into vehicle, causing unibody damage, nearly totaling the vehicle. Tie rods are bent in opposite directions - meaning, the vehicle experienced a compressive force from the left and the right. The only way this could have happened was from the truck hitting me and slamming me into a building. End of story. These guys are weasels. I've cancelled all my policies with them and encourage you to do the same.

Again, I have had 2 vehicles at my shop for 13 weeks, and they refused to pay to have them totally repaired.

They will have no problem cutting you a check for $1300.00 when it takes almost $8k to fix, and they bring in some PDR (paintless dent removal or pathetic dent repair) specialists from Arkansas to get high in your parking lot and tear up my customers' cars with no regrets or warranties of any kind. And the adjuster said the only reason he's here is for the money and that he gets to go back home and not deal with customers. State Farm likes it that way, so they don't have to employ anybody who's out of work in our region.

I have an adjustor who used to be a bodyman or so he thinks he was. He writes estimates for his friends and fixes their cars in his garage. Talk about conflict of interest, the manager has been notified and he either don't care or is on the take, or helping his adjuster in the garage, because I'm sure he used to do a little bodywork too.

I wish I had changed insurance companies before. Last fall, I was involved in a front end accident with another driver. We both had State Farm. There is no question it was the other driver’s fault. State Farm had originally called my vehicle totaled. I was fine with that. No one wants a car that has been that badly damaged, especially a damaged frame. Then the body shop that did the estimate for State Farm, they no longer have a department for that, negotiated with State Farm and came down on their price. And State Farm approved the repairs. I couldn't believe it.

Now, I have a car I would never ever have purchased. I changed insurance companies before the repairs were completed. I sent them my premiums on time for 25 years to protect my assets. Not because I was concerned about their profit margin. I obviously did not have any value to them as a customer. I have had several mechanics look at it. Every single shop asks me why the car was fixed. They all say they have never seen a vehicle that had been that badly damaged gets fixed. I have several estimates that say the vehicle is now worth about half of what I paid for it 4 months before the accident. The mechanics are always really helpful until State Farms calls them, then the mechanics won't return my calls.

I am trying to pursue a diminished value claim in small claims court against the other driver. I figured small claims would be the fastest and easiest way to resolve the loss in value to my vehicle. I most likely will lose this battle because State Farm is providing the woman that caused the accident with a lawyer. While I have limited financial resources so I must represent myself. Again showing me the value I had to State Farm as a customer. It does not seem right that I did not cause the accident but State Farm has decided that I must bear the financial burden while she walks out of court laughing with a smile on her face.

A driver insured with State Farm hit my vehicle, and dealing with the total loss department has been a nightmare every step of the way. Three months later, we're almost finished settling. My biggest regret was not getting a lawyer involved sooner. They low-balled initial offers for the vehicle, didn't consider later proof of what the vehicle was worth and actually sent a check out for less than we decided using the slowest, least securing mailing option available. They didn't reimburse my mail expenses to get documents to them, tried to fashion a lie about not being able to communicate via email and instead only through faxing (?), and have taken their sweet time every step of the way. For people like myself with little legal experience, if you're dealing with State Farm for an accident caused by another driver, only work through your lawyer. If you must speak with them, speak with a manager, and keep a careful record of everything they say after each conversation to keep track of inconsistencies.

I have been a State Farm customer for a long time. I had my house with them and my 4 vehicles. Hail damaged my 4 cars. We only claimed one because three of them only had minor dents and little white spots in the windshields. The one we claimed had major dents, also, with little white dots to windshield and a bull's nose that we had, cracked the windshield all across and all above.

When I was getting out of my vehicle, the claim adjuster immediately told me that the windshield crack and permanent white dots that my windshield had were old and that I could not claim them as "hail damage". This comment sparked a discussion of me stating "Yes, the windshield was broken before but not as broken as it is right now. As it is, I have to replace it immediately." He was arrogant/irritated. I responded that if he told me that my windshield was not going to be replaced due to it being broken prior to hail storm, I could understand that, but not to tell me those permanent white dots and the increase in the size of the crack was not due to hail. He stated that a lot of people were trying to get their cars fixed with the excuse of hail. We engaged in a heated argument and I left without accepting the claim.

I called customer service to complain. I stated I pay $10,000 per year for home and vehicles for peace of mind. There are other insurances out there that charge me $5,000 per year or less for exactly the same coverage. When I wanted State Farm to recognize that the windshield was further damaged with hail, I was just requesting the peace of mind that I thought I would have with a "reputable" insurance agency. The windshield costs $180 and State Farm charges me $10,000 instead of the others that charge me $5000. I was not upset for the $180. I was upset because for all these years, I have been paying so much extra money to discover I was enrolled in a lousy insurance company that is telling me that my windshield was not damaged by hail when it happened while I was driving my vehicle.

The manager stated, he had been working for State Farm for 30 years and he had a lot of hail damage experience and that it was very "strange" that down here in the valley, the amount of windshield claims were much higher than in other parts of the United States, that people were trying to claim other damages the vehicles had, into "hail claims". I responded that my co-workers were with other inexpensive insurances paying much less than me and they treated them very well, did not have any problems with their claims, and even had rentals while their cars were fixed. Some cars were even totaled and claims were paid immediately.

The agent proceeded to tell me that hail was "water," could not have damaged my windshield leaving those permanent white spots. I answered him that "water" had a different density and had a factor of velocity added to it. He stated, bottom line, hail does not cause "that" damage. The claims attendant, the manager were rude, racist against the people in the valley, and arrogant.

I feel I have been paying the extra $5,000 per year for a "peace of mind" that never existed. Now I regret having been in State Farm for so many years. I feel I have been throwing my money away. I learned from personal experience, moving to the "lot less expensive" insurance company and looking forward for the customer service they offer.

They could've said that with the tornadoes from last year (I'm in Missouri), etc. They needed to recoup losses. I'd have understood that. This, however, is just highway robbery. After not receiving this right away, I was sent a letter stating that my policy would be canceled as of April 16, 2012. I sent them the requested information when I returned from vacation on April 3, 2012. Payment was taken out of my account on April 4, 2012. Then I received a call from my local agent on Friday, April 13, 2012 that my policy will still be cancelled on April 16, 2012 because my husband's name wasn't listed on my prior policy.

I was with my prior insurance company for the past five years since relocating to Missouri. My husband and I both have excellent driving records, no accidents or tickets. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. We are one, so what difference does it make whether he was listed on the policy?

They are still trying to get out of paying a dime. It's not the first time I have heard this. Take your business elsewhere. Also, take pics and keep receipt of everything you buy; otherwise, you won't see a dime on that alone. They are actually accusing us of lying. They're all smiles as they take your money, but when it time comes to cover your claim, forget it! I contacted Tony and told him to transfer all of my products to Mark ** in Algonquin. He argued with me for an hour, explaining that I didn't need to do that. He could service me just fine from Glen Ellyn.

Truth is the staff who answers the phone is extremely unprofessional, and I really wanted to be with a different agent regardless. After an hour, Tony said he would transfer all of my products to Mark ** (the new agent). It turned out that after 3 years, we realized that he did not transfer the life policy. I recently requested again to have it transferred, and they did not process my request. State Farm should really look into how Tony ** and his staff conducts business, as I do not believe that it is in the best interest of State Farm.

When I told the claims rep I could not have moved to the other lane because there was a car in that lane already, he said, "You could have hit you brakes." I said, "If I did that, then I would have been rear-ended by the cars behind me.” His response: "Well, then they would have been at fault.” Classy. Real classy. My advice is to stay away as possible from ever having any dealings with State Farm.

I reported it 5 days after, February 13 (my mother was being admitted to Hospicare when the accident occurred and I forgot to call sooner). They claim it is my fault they didn't know about the accident until 3 weeks after it occurred; therefore, I need to pay the bill. My understanding is I let my insurance company know, the other person involved lets their insurance company know, and the person at fault's insurance company picks up all expenses. I do not believe it is my responsibility to pay storage ($1470) because their insured customer didn't report the accident. Please help!

On February 22, 2012, I was hit by a State Farm insured vehicle; we were located at the intersection of 610 and Kirby, in front of the Davis Chevrolet dealership in Houston Texas. I was making a left turn from a left turn lane and she was going straight in the left turn only lane to the left of me. She hit my car at the left front fender. We exchanged information, I called the police and they said, if no one was hurt and the car was drivable and we both agreed to the circumstances they did not need to come out.

We agreed and your insured Chastity **, Policy number ** called her agent, Tricia ** on the scene and reported the accident. They gave me a claim number, ** and said that claims would follow up. By Monday, 2/27/2012, I had not heard from State Farm's Claims so I called them. The agent from Team 22 said they had to verify the claim with the insured and as yet were not able to contact her. I called again on Thursday March 1, 2012. They had contacted her and she told them that I had come into her lane. As a result, they were not legally liable. I then gave the State Farm Clams the name of the witness on the scene: Marvin **, Fleet Manager of Davis Chevrolet, ** Ext. **.

On March 6, 2012, they said they talked to the witness and said he did not see the actual impact. He looked up after hearing the crash. On that basis, they had to deny the claim. The witness did see that the insured was attempting to go straight from a left turn only lane and he pointed out to her that she was in a left turn only lane. We did not move the vehicles until he (the witness) helped direct traffic around us so we could pull into the driveway. At the point where our cars stopped, she was beyond the point to turn from her left lane only, turn lane.

Today March 6, 2012 they denied claim because (witness did not see impact.) What kind of investigation did the claims department make? Clearly, this is an attempt to avoid responsibility for the accident. I will continue to pursue this issue until justice is served.

In May 2007, I was rear-ended at full speed. My vehicle was rolled over and pushed quite a length up the road. The weather was clear and calm. The stretch of roadway straight. I was waiting to make a turn, had my turn signal on (which was later proven in court by the on scene police chief accident scene reconstructor). I had to be cut out of my vehicle (it was totaled). I had a head injury, among others. To date, I still have balance issues, memory deficits, executive function deficits (cannot do things in proper order); have problems recognizing/writing numbers and some letters, word-finding problems; problems with following and understanding conversations, movies, TV programs; cannot make quick turns with my head so I cannot drive (doctor will not allow me to.

I have not driven now for almost five years); nerve damage in my right leg in which I always have pain/take prescription pain meds; nerve damage to the middle digit on my right hand (I am right-handed); sleep problems. I don't sleep unless I take a script sleep pill and that doesn't always work. I have 1-2 nights/week when I don't sleep. I get constant bad brain days, where I cannot think enough to even form sentences to make a conversation. I don't feel well at all so I don't talk, go anywhere (assuming I'd have a ride), answer the phone. I do nothing. It's very hard to explain.

It is a very dark, lonely place to be in when this happens and it happens on average at least 1 to 2 times per week. It's like everything leaves my mind and there is nothing there. I'm there physically but not there mentally. My doctor wanted to get me into physical and other therapies as soon as possible but State Farm wouldn't authorize it. The doctor insisted I go and stated that the longer I am made to wait, the less chance of recovery. My husband obtained an attorney just to get me into therapy. It was somewhere around three months post accident that I was finally able to start, which consisted of physical, cognitive and speech. I completed two rounds of PT at two different times, the last being hooked up to a new computer program that measures the amount of imbalance. It showed I was markedly off balance (or severely, I can't remember the exact term). The therapist said the therapy would not improve my balance and I was more than likely not going to get better. I have what I'm going to have.

As far as the bad brain days, they think what happens is the brain is working so hard to keep the basic life functions going (breathing, operating the organs/functions, etc) that it can't also maintain all the mental aspects. I lost my business, as it was a service oriented business and now use a cane to walk. State Farm now offers me a settlement amount that is laughable. I'm not in this to get rich. I just want enough to be able to pay the bills for whatever the rest of my lifespan might be. I am not the same. Life is not the same. I am not okay. Is there anyone out there who can make this insurance company responsible, accountable and take care of their clients?

How long are they going to get away with such shameful treatment of their customers? Why are they being allowed to get away with this? I've been a customer for 32 years! Is this what I deserve? Does anyone have the intestinal fortitude to do what is right? I'm going to the newspapers and press if they don't do right by me. I am told by attorneys they litigate everything and spend more money doing so than taking care of their clients. Does this sound like normal human behavior to anyone? Does this sound like good business practice to anyone? Had I run my business this way, I'd have been out of business shortly after starting. So why are they treated differently? Who calls them on their wrongdoing? Who is their watchdog? Or does nobody really care?

This summer I was involved in a minor fender bender. The damage to the other vehicle was minimal and there was no damage to my vehicle. Our insurance company State Farm accepted his photos of the scene and 1 quote to repair his vehicle. They did not bother to ask me for my photos. The quote he got was outrageous, $4600 plus to fix a broken headlight and an 8" scrape to 1 fender. State Farm gladly accepted this quote and paid it. They obviously do not care about their clientele.

We also recently turned in a claim to them about our roof needing replacement after a major wind storm. They sent an adjuster out who told us our roof is not missing enough shingle to replace. There is exposed tar paper and shingles all over our yard literally. We had to get 5 quotes from roofers before they would even consider coming back out for us to dispute their denial. All 5 roofers told us it was a bad roof. Too many shingles are missing and it is not rated for our area. We turned in our 5 quotes and requested a different adjuster be sent out. They reviewed the quotes and sent the same adjuster who again told us he would not pay for our roof.

We as clients should not have to furnish 5 quotes to fix our home that obviously needs repair. But a non client turns in an exorbitant quote to fix something and they only have to have 1 quote. This is ludicrous. This company should not even be in business. We plan to switch companies today and tell everyone we know how ridiculous this company treats its clientele.

I strongly encourage consumers to shop around, as State Farm is not your best option. I was in my first accident several months ago, and despite a police report and 2/3 drivers in the accident claiming Car A was at fault, State Farm has decided to claim that I'm somehow magically at fault for the accident.

Not surprisingly, they cannot get a hold of Car A (illegal, fraudulent insurance) and therefore have no one to pay the bills. So, rather than do what car insurance is supposed to do (i.e. protect their client), they've decided to throw me under the bus to avoid costs. Not only is that a ludicrous ignorance of facts, but it's a huge inconvenience to battle. The icing on the cake is that their claims department staff is beyond rude -misrepresenting information to try to bully you into alignment and just flat out being difficult and evasive throughout the process.

If you are unfortunate enough to have their insurance when you get in an accident, take notes on every call you have with them - their staff picks the information they choose to write down, so you may think you've got a case but they'll claim they never knew certain info. Honestly, switch insurances now - State Farm is terrible!

I was insured with State Farm since 2009 in Reno, NV. My agents name was Mathew **. He was an excellent agent, and while he was with State Farm, I had no problems with my policy. Mathew ** left the agency permanently towards the end of 2010, and I received a letter stating a new agent would be taking over the agency and I would be contacted soon. Over the next several months, a new agent was never found. I had numerous problems with my insurance during that period. Little things like a renters policy being added to my policy when I was not a renter, continuous problems with the company failing to pull the automatic draft from my account, and therefore forcing me to drive to the agency each month to pay for my insurance in person.

In August of 2011, I decided that without an agent, I was no longer willing to stick with State Farm. I went into my agency on August 18th of 2011 and asked what I needed to do to cancel my policy. I was told while in the office they would put through a cancellation, and recommended I stay with the company one more month to give myself time to find a new company. That day, August 18th, 2011, I paid my policy through for another month. I received a receipt, which I still have. I paid in cash. I was told my insurance was good through September 29, 2011. I found other insurance within a week of deciding to cancel with State Farm, and verified once again through my Agency that I was insured through September 29, 2011. Based on the information I was given, I had a policy started with the new insurance company on September 27, 2011, with the understanding that I would be considered double insured for a period of two days. Within a couple of weeks of starting with the new insurance company, I was told by the underwriters they were having a hard time obtaining verification of my previous auto insurance and asked that I get a letter of experience from Start Farm.

I contacted my previous agency of State Farm and was faxed a letter of experience that day, stating I was insured continuously from November of 2009 until September 29 of 2011. Last week, I received a certified letter from the DMV stating there was a problem with my insurance coverage from August and September of 2011. State Farm entered into the DMV system that my insurance with State Farm was cancelled on August 20, 2011 due to non payment. Therefore leaving me with a lapse of coverage for 37 days. A lapse of insurance in the State of Nevada is a mandatory registration suspension, in addition to a $500 fine. Until I pay the $500 fine, I cannot drive my vehicle. I have contacted State Farm numerous times to figure out what happened. I have proof through a receipt and a letter of experience issued by State Farm saying I was insured until 9/29/2011. However, the underwriters are claiming according to their system, my insurance was cancelled, and there is nothing they can do to help me. So either State Farm underwriters have made a mistake, or my agency took my cash and never entered it into the system. If the system claimed my policy cancelled in August, why would they issue me a letter of experience stating I was insured through 9/29/2011? I'm now stuck with a $500 fine, $130 of my money stolen, and two fraudulent legal documents issued by State Farm. I either want this situation fixed, or the now $630 they owe me due to fines and stolen money.

We have had auto insurance through State Farm for over 20 years with only seven claims in that time span. For 12 years, we had renters insurance and never had a single claim. I had a Bronco for 16 years and never had a single claim. We totaled one car back in 2005 and then went the next several years with zero claims. In the last two years, unfortunately, we have had 4 claims: one for $5336, one for $1600, one for $200 and one for $600. So basically, for the first time in 20 years, they had to pay out more than they took in so they dropped us! They've made a heck of a lot of money off of us the last 20 years but God forbid we should use the insurance we pay for. Like a good neighbor, you don't need a neighbor like State Farm! I was in an automobile accident. The driver who struck me from behind had State Farm Insurance. I suffered back injuries and neck pain. I am still in pain. After all was said and done, State Farm offered me $5,100.00 which was not enough to cover my medical bills. I have to pay an additional $200.00 to $700.00 out of my own pocket, maybe more.

I am unable to work because of my back injuries. I owe my Lawyer, the ambulance that took me to the hospital, the hospital, and the testing facility that did my MRI. The Physical Therapist waived the rest of their balance. I am totally alone here and I don't know where to turn. I also do not have any money. My sister suggested that I tell someone what happened to me so that others might know what goes on when the average person is struck from behind.

Please be warned. State Farm really needs to be investigated by the Florida Insurance Commission. We all pay auto insurance. They have the money to pay for your medical bills, but they won't, and no one will make them do this.

PS- Also know this: If you are married and you and our husband or wife are in the same car, the minimal amount that you can claim ($10,000) is split between you two. They treat a married couple as one entity. Please be warned.

Their "family" atmosphere makes it impossible for them to become tough and smart enough to run their business efficiently. It is disgusting.

It's one thing to have your company create an environment where people are "happy" to work there; it's another thing to have corporate to be clueless enough about human nature that they are being totally taken advantage of. Wish I'd seen this, years ago. I had been a State Farm customer for about a decade when one day, sitting in a line of rush hour traffic, this massive GMC truck makes a left hand turn across three lanes of traffic and right into my front end causing major damage. I was surprised that State farm had decided to fix the car instead of writing it off, it was that bad.

My poor car was in the shop for about a month (CarStar) and they did their best but that car was mangled. I got it back and the alignment was completely shot. Wheel facing right to make wheels face forward. I was told by CarStar that State Farm wouldn't cover that (even though the truck drove basically right into my tire). I drove it to a dealership and had them fix it. A few days later, I notice my window doesn't work anymore (they had to replace parts of my driver’s door as my mirror was ripped right off). I also noticed that as soon as I hit the highway and was going about 90, the whole car shuddered and shook. I took it back. They said “tough crap, that’s all the insurance would pay for.”

So for the next two years, my poor car sits dead in my in-laws garage because I don't have the money to actually fix the accident damage. Meanwhile, State Farm continues to bill me my $160 every month. I was told I had to have coverage, even if the car wasn't being driven.

I finally found out they were seriously bilking me. I cancelled the insurance and dropped my home insurance with those thieving you know what is and now I will tell anyone who will listen. State Farm steals. State Farm does not care about you. State Farm is rich.

I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra, fully loaded and completely dead that has been rotting for four years now because of these thieves. Do not purchase State Farm insurance, it is not insurance for you, it’s for them!

My car was stolen on November 13, 2011 from a local mall. It was recovered on December 14, 2011 with major damages. I brought the car two months before it was stolen in excellent condition. My claims adjuster told me it was up to me to prove the condition of my car before it was stolen and crashed. He stated that in his research that he did not feel that the thief would have caused such damages. Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures when I brought the car, the car dealership did not have any pictures nor did the finance company have any pictures. Only after I threatened to have everyone that I know and work with complete an affidavit stating the condition of my car did they agree to cover all damages.

I became the victim twice once from the thief and once from State Farm. My car had over $11,000 worth of damages and after being in a State Farm selected shop for 6 weeks I picked it up and was only able to drive it 10 minutes away before I had to stop at a repair shop because it was not drivable. I had to pay out of pocket for them to fix my car and guess what? The State Farm shop that did all of the repairs had charged State Farm for the same exact repair. I called my adjuster and he told me that I would not be reimbursed because they had already paid for that repair. So basically I am struck with a vehicle that probably will fall apart as I am driving down the road.

State Farm, carrier of my mother's car insurance and homeowner's insurance committed fraud. My elderly mother broke her back in Sept 2010. She was recovering from surgery but still in considerable pain when in Dec of 2010, she was involved in a very minor, "bump." I hesitate to call it a fender bender as that implies great damage. As a precaution and at the urging of my concerned father, she went to the hospital to be checked out.

It was discovered that she had three more broken vertebrae, which were not likely caused by the accident. The driver who "bumped" them was uninsured so my parent's uninsured motorist coverage kicked in. She had surgery to repair the three broken vertebrae which resulted in a punctured lung and ongoing care for several more months. A report was made to State Farm, details given and permission to obtain medical records was given twice.

In April of 2011, Medicare, who automatically covered the medical expenses, as a conditional payment until liability could be sorted out, sent State Farm a conditional payment letter, stating that they were owed $13,000 unless State Farm disputed these charges and sent proof as to why Medicare should bare the expense. State Farm had 30 days to respond.

Well, at the same time (early April 2011), State Farm did two things. Sent Mom a check for $4800 saying she had requested the payment so she could settle the matter herself. Not true. They also sent a "request for conditional payment letter" to Medicare. Mom did not cash the check and continued to urge State Farm to settle the claim.

I have just learned, January 2012, that any document sent to Medicare relating to the same claim number would constitute a dispute and thus stop the demand process for payment of the $13,000. The initial letter sent to State Farm, from Medicare insisted they dispute within 30 days or a demand letter would be sent.

Well, I believe State Farm knew damn well, that sending the request would halt the demand against them, which is precisely why they took the action to send the request at the same time as they attempted to "settle" the matter with my mother. Medicare stated that the two documents, the conditional payment letter and the request for a conditional payment letter, must have passed in the mail.

From April till November, my Mother made several calls trying to compel State Farm to settle the $1700 bill she was receiving for the emergency room visit the night of the "bump", which State Farm was liable for. There was always an excuse as to why the bill hadn't been paid and in August the claims adjuster even sent a letter to the hospital stating my mother wasn't covered and they should seek payment from her directly. This gets better.

At the end on November, the hospital bill remained unresolved and my mother, who has always paid her debts, grew concerned that the unpaid bill would have lasting effects on her supplemental insurance or the balance would become hers to pay. We made another call to the claims adjuster and agreed to accept the settlement of $4800 to pay the hospital bill. We were told the balance was for "pain and suffering". Well, the other shoe falls when my mother receives a conditional payment letter from Medicare stating that they had been informed by State Farm that my mother had accepted a settlement and she would need to dispute or receive a demand for $13,000.

So, I call the claims adjuster for assistance. No return call. I then spent 49 minutes, the precise number of minutes I am told my wait time would be, waiting to speak with someone in the Medical Payment Recovery Dept with Medicare. I was told that my mother was now the debtor as she had accepted a settlement. Let me stop and say that Medicare sends one letter... and only one letter. Never, ever did my mother receive an update or further correspondence regarding the unpaid balance of $13,000. After all, she knew that State Farm had 30 days to settle or dispute and naturally since they had permission to request her medical records, they had taken care of this matter and Medicare was satisfied.

But she was now the debtor. I was informed by the Medicare rep that: They only sent the one letter to State Farm which my mother was copied on. One document sent referencing the claim number indefinitely suspends the "demand" for payment from State Farm...

Finally, I was informed that State Farm did only two things regarding my mother's claim where Medicare was concerned. They sent the "request for conditional payment" in April of 2011 and they sent the notice of Settlement in November of 2011. Never did they send a dispute, never did they provide Medicare with the medical record information they had the permission to collect to dispute the claim.

    Why is this fraud?

    1) They intended to deceive my mother by taking no action to settle the conditional payment matter with Medicare, they merely stopped the demand process.
    2) They withheld pertinent information from my mother. In other words, they knew the $13,000 demand was out there and still sought to settle the matter with my mother for $4800.
    3) My mother was led to believe that the only outstanding debt was the emergency room care. She therefore relied on the information or lack thereof from State Farm.

    4) She was harmed in excess of $8,000.

Now it is up to my mother to dispute this herself, of course it will be me driving the process. My mother not only broke her back a year and a half ago but she is 73 years old, has COPD and MDS (pre-leukemia) in addition to suffering from a punctured lung during her last back surgery that nearly killed her and subsequently has had to have her gallbladder removed and has lost 4 inches and 50 pounds.

Also, a lot of damage to my neck and back. I am still under treatment for my neck injuries but have already been told by the State Farm adjuster that they will not be considering the injuries to my hip when they do try to settle with me because I had a bone spur on my hip that I was not even aware of. The person that hit me was 100% responsible, no question on that, but they still are trying to get out of paying me and I am a State Farm customer too, have been since 1994.

I can say for sure that if they don't fix this and agree to pay for all my injuries, I will drop them as my insurance carrier go with a new company and then sue them for everything. But I refuse to continue to do business with a company that treats people this way. I have spent over a year in pain everyday with no end. It might be possible that I may have to have more surgery and I am going broke paying my co-payments for my medical and the travel expenses and lost wages since last January going to doctors and having and recovering for the surgery I have already had.

When I bought this truck it had 4-5 dents in the cab portion, the front windshield was cracked and had some peeling paint. The reason I bought this classic was it's very good, no rust, clean and in straight condition. About 3 months after I bought it, it was vandalized while sitting parked in my backyard. Truck was pounded on putting in around 20+ new dents, both doors were kicked. Chrome had some fresh dents, paint in 3 areas was scraped off. Upon seeing the damage, I called the police and had a report made. Next day, I called my State Farm agent about the damage, they had me call the claims center for further investigation.

After getting an estimate at their recommended body shop, they made me wait a week and a half to get any response, after me calling them 6 times. They then set up an appointment to meet at the body shop again with an investigator. The investigator right off the bat treated me like I was liar, pointed out all the flaws from previous body work and peeling paint. I said I'm only concerned with the vandalism not the old imperfections. Well, all I can say is they had their minds made up before they came there, any moron could see the fresh damage and paint scrapes.

It was a bright sunny day, I suggested that we bring the truck indoors to see the damage better, they didn't care to do that. Why? Because their minds were made up prior. I had to tell them to stand at an angle to the door to plainly see the kicked in dent on both doors. Why? You're the professionals! Boys, you need glasses! I offered State Farm prior pictures and a statement from the guy who sold it to me as to previous condition, they wanted no part of it at all. I was treated as a liar the whole time.

I sent pictures of its previous condition to the claim rep." Penny" that clearly shows its nice condition. She stated she couldn't tell the difference from my pictures to her investigator's pictures. Give me a break! I offered to take pictures of the damage with the same camera to show her the damage, she didn't care in the least. I have been a state farm customer since about 1996 have had auto, life, homeowners, renters policies with them and never have had any claims.

In 2003, I purchased a 4 family rental property. I was told by my state farm agent that they could not insure it as since 9-11 state farm had quit writing new policies until they came up with a 'more profitable product' I went with Allstate on it. Meanwhile, my homeowners rates almost tripled due to them looking for more profit.

Since then, I had moved and as of this year have auto/life/renters policies with them. I have never had a claim ever. Paid huge rates to a universal life policy that I had to let go this past summer due to the economy and losing my job. Then of all things, our house got broke into, I had no choice but to file a claim. I had always been told to go with replacement cost policies so you were paid current replacement costs instead of depreciated costs if something were to happen. Yeah right, state farm came up with a 'settlement offer' which was pathetic, then told me the remaining replacement cost would be paid when the items were replaced. That was in July of this year. We moved, so all mail went to our new address.

Over the past 2 months, we had not received any bills from state farm. Just the checks for the claim, a renewal of the renters policy and a notice that a vehicle that was suspended on our auto policy would be cancelled if we didn't let them know otherwise, which was fine as it isn't running. On this past Saturday we received a check from state farm that stated it was a 'refund' for cancelling our payment plan account.

Confused, I contacted my agent on Monday and was told it was due to the suspended vehicle being cancelled. Okay, that is was fine, then today, we were looking at our bank account and a check from state farm for the claim had bounced. Separate issue with their bounced check, it had supposedly been printed on the 'wrong form' and was cancelled and reissued this past week, that doesn't fix the fact that I was charged for it not being honored!

I called their 24 hour line and was told that all of my policies were cancelled about a week ago. The check was a refund for whatever. We were pay by the month, so I was very confused when in the past I was told by the agent that we did not have the 'month ahead' on our payment plan. So, what would a refund be for when they claim our policies were cancelled for non payment? We never received any type of payment due, cancellation notice or otherwise.

Since we have filed the first claim ever: The agents person I deal with locally had been very nasty with the claim handler that I deal with on our claim, the claim handler has been quite nice. State farm refused to insure the property that we are moving to stating they didn't insure the type of construction the house is. We so far have been told by other insurance companies that they won't insure our house due to the claim we have currently.

I would not recommend this corrupt company to anybody, after being a long time customer, to be treated so badly.

On Saturday, October 22, 2011, I was the victim of a hit and run by a State Farm insured driver. The incident occurred at an Exxon gas station in Northeast Houston. The driver backed up into my car while I was about to pump gas. He realized what he had done and then took off fast. An off-duty Houston police officer chased him down and brought him back to the scene. Unfortunately, the police officer didn't want to stay. He told me to handle it with the driver who had hit me. The driver approached me and tried to do this "Who me? " thing. He said, "Excuse me. The nice police officer said that I may have damaged your property. I don't know how this could have happened. Did I do that to the front of your car? No, it wasn't me."

Fortunately, I had witnesses and was able to get one of their phone numbers. The driver who hit me was a complete jerk. He refused to give me his insurance information and threatened me. For no reason whatsoever, he started calling my four-year-old daughter a ** and started taunting my wife. We called the police. When the police arrived, we were relieved as a family. We thought everything would be okay. We were wrong. I'm a white man and my wife is Asian.

One of the cops was a big time racist that showed up. He asked me what my wife's nationality was and told me he didn't like the way we looked together. He was absolutely awful to me and tried to side with the bad guy. I was able to get the guy's insurance information, despite the horrible experience. I filed the claim and State Farm has been awful. Still to this day (December 13, 2011), nobody has come to look at the damage to my car. State Farm has done everything possible to do nothing and keep the claim dragging on and on. The claims adjustor is lazy as hell and always has an excuse. Everything is in place (my witness verified the entire incident), but still nothing has transpired.

It is my impression that State Farm knows their driver did wrong and that the company is liable for the claim. However, they are doing everything possible to find a way to potentially deny the claim. It's been a horrid experience. "Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there" is **. What a terrible company. It's amazing that you have a driver who did a hit and run, yet his insurance company is doing everything possible to give him the benefit of the doubt. I hope the situation is resolved soon; but if I get denied, I would love to file a law suit against State Farm, the claims agent and the driver who hit my car.

I started with State Farm back in March when I put my car back on the road. I went in, signed up for Auto Insurance, Renter's Insurance and volunteered for a free HIV test. That was it. I gave my info for EFT payments and paperless billing, I received my papers and insurance cards in the mail and all was good. I did not receive anything more from them in the mail besides a holiday card. I moved to a different state in July and notified them of my move. They said to just call and cancel, and they'd even give me quotes for a State Farm agent where I was moving to. They never did. I moved, got a different car, notified them of the change and all was still good.

I received a letter in the mail from State Farm headquarters around September 8th, asking if "I was a aware that a Life Insurance policy had been sold to me and whether I had any record of it". I checked the no box, signed my name and wrote my number on there and requested it to be taken off. I never signed up for any of that needless crap. So I created an online username to try and decrease my insurance payment and took a peek at what exactly I was paying for. There it was, a $50,000 life insurance policy that is about $15 a month that I had no idea that I was paying. I decided it was time to go with another insurance. I called and asked for my policy to be canceled. The rep said all was okay and I signed up with a much, much cheaper company who gave me more coverage.

Almost two weeks later, I checked my bank account and I have a negative balance. State Farm did not cancel my EFT payments and overdrafted my account. I called and at first, the girl said my account should not have been charged. Then she came back, changed her story and said technically, only my auto policy was canceled. I said that no one told me to be specific and I was under the impression that all my policies were canceled. Then she proceeded to ask me if I wanted my renter's insurance canceled. I said of course! Are you kidding me? I want the life insurance that I did not even sign up for canceled as well! Oh, but apparently you need a signature to cancel that. She simply said I would receive my refund via check in the mail and that was it.

I went to the bank and had them cancel the payment so that State Farm did not get any money and they also put a block so no more money could be withdrawn. I relayed this via email to State Farm and got no response. Few days later, I saw a deposit into my account different from the one they had wrongly charged. I was not made aware of this so I assumed State Farm was giving me my refund for canceling before my premium was due. I sent yet another email requesting a response because I was having trouble getting a hold of them during business hours and I attached proof of two NSF fees that I incurred because of their mistake, and I mentioned that I had no record of signing up for a life insurance policy.

He simply replied that they sent me detailed descriptions of my policies every month, which I keep all of my paperwork and I have gotten nothing of the sort, and that in order to make up for wrongly charging my account, they refunded me the charges minus the "life insurance" fees that were due and since they did not get any money due to my stop payment, I now owed them that money back. I said I don't think so, you owe me a refund from my premium, you owe me for two NSF fees, and I want a refund for this ** life insurance that someone charged me without my permission or signature. They just ignored me and said I would be billed in the mail and that I need to send a signature to cancel the life insurance policy.

I had been with State Farm since 1976 when I first received my driver's license. I have my homeowner's insurance through State Farm as well. My agent is great. I have always received the good driver's discount as well. State Farm canceled my insurance earlier this year. I received one speeding ticket (paid it instead of traffic school) and also filed a claim when a car hit me as I was backing out a parking spot. I think the "at fault" was questionable, but I filed a claim for the other car, no damage to mine. It was a minimal damage to the bumper of the other car. State Farm canceled me saying my rating went up because the damage to the other car came up to over $1500 (very hard to imagine). Either way, I cannot calculate the amount I have paid toward my insurance for over $30 years, then they cancel me?

On the next day, State Farm called me at 11am and changed the quote to $901. I was put on the spot and I had to go through with it. They called me again later that afternoon saying they made a second mistake with he quote and wanted another $150. I asked them to call me back as it was not convenient. On November2, I did not get a call back so I phoned them to ask why I was to pay more than the huge $900 amount. I refused to pay and asked what my options were and I requested they cancel the policy at midnight. I arranged an alternate insurance with 21st Century from midnight. I called State Farm back to confirm the cancellation at midnight.

On November 3, I called again to confirm my cancellation and asked how I was to be refunded. They said they could process the credit to my card. On November 9, I called to complain that no refund had been received to my card. They promised me it would be done by Friday, and latest would be Tuesday. I called once more on November 15 to complain yet again, that no refund had been seen on my card and now they state that the refund would be by cheque but that it had not been processed yet. I checked and they did not have right address to ship the cheque to.

On November 21, I called again and still the cheque was not sent out as promised. They gave me some bull** that they needed to adjust it by 50 cents. They said they would send it tomorrow and that I need to wait 10 days for it. They have been holding my $900 for three weeks so far and say it will be at least another 10 days. I have my car insurance, a life insurance policy and a home insurance policy with State Farm. I like my representative, and Todd at the office was very polite. My complaint is with the State Farm policy for health insurance.

I just retired from teaching in the State of Florida. I have a health insurance I can carry on, but it costs $608 a month. I am 63 and I cannot get medicare until 65 (as you know). I talked to Todd, I think about a quote for health insurance. I cannot access the insurance until January 1, 2012, as I had to sign to keep my teaching insurance or lose it at the time of my signing out of the county. I asked Todd for a quote. He says it will be approximately $435 a month, but he cannot be sure until we submit the form and it might take 3 or 4 weeks for State Farm to come back. In the mean time, he cannot submit the form without me writing a check for the first month.

I do not think State Farm should have the use of my $425 until we make an agreement. I am okay with the $25 fee to make a quote to me. As a long time customer, I think since about 1972, I feel you are treating me unfairly. I think you should charge me the $25, give me a quote, and let me make the decision before taking my $425, approximately. I have called another insurance program and they are making me a quote without charging me the estimated monthly amount. My husband, Frank **, who also insures his cars through his business agrees with me.

Maybe Todd is wrong about you cashing my check and keeping my money until the quote is complete. I might not have told you that I cannot start the new policy until January 1, 2012, as I had to sign to keep my current policy until I could replace it or I could not get it back. Please email me back. My State Farm person is Ann ** at Teel and Waters Insurance. I want State Farm, but I think this policy of keeping my money without interest for 40 some days is financial larceny.

I haven't even been told you will insure me yet, but you want my money. This has never happened before with the car insurance. When the office makes me a quote and I write a check, I usually have a difference back within a week if the quote is too high. Thank you for helping me.

This is a response to Michael in Fayetteville: This is how it works. The insurance company is working in the best interest of their insured. In your case, you are a claimant. It is the insurance company's responsibility to have contact with their insured, either by phone, in person, or by mail, before accepting liability for that person and fixing your vehicle. This may take some time if their insured is not being cooperative. My suggestion to you is to contact your own insurance company. If you have the coverage on your policy, they will fix your car (you may pay a deductible), then they will subrogate to get the money back from State Farm. Put yourself in the insured's shoes. Would you be happy if some random person called up and filed a claim on your policy saying you were at fault and they just paid the claim without even notifying you or giving you a chance to give your side of the story? Hope that was helpful.

Remember people, all insurance companies have these types of things happen. There are going to be times when claims don't get paid. There are going to be individuals who work for the company who might not act in the most ethical matter. Switching your carrier every 6 months because your rates went up $10 is going to hurt you in the long run. You won't get the best rate because the company looks at you like a frequent shopper. Bottom line, stick with a good reputable company (research them on the department of insurance website). Stick with them through the roller coaster of rate increases and decreases (yes they do have those! ) and understand that there are procedures that have to be followed. Read your policy booklet, become familiar with your company's responsibilities and your responsibilities in the event of a claim. It helps if you have a good agent that is willing to explain things to you.

I ended up paying $80 for the month that they quoted me $80 less. I don't feel that I should have been charged the increase for the month that I was quoted. That was totally unfair. And I can see that they quoted me the wrong price but they should have not charged me for the month that had already passed. This is not a good way to do business.

My car was backed over parked in Oneida,TN on September 5, 2011. I went to a couple of state farm shops to get estimates on fixing my car. Cumberland auto in Cookeville,Tn was local, State Farm bonded and could get it done quicker. So, I went with them to have my car fixed. Dropped my car off September 19th at 8 am. Was in big hurry cause my son was to have surgery @10 am in Lebanon,TN. The day to pick my car up was September 23rd 2011. First thing I noticed was that my bumper was cracked in corners around the grill, which it was not when I took it in.

Dirt in paint, drivers side bumper was sitting high (passenger side was impact side), car was pulling when driving, (so I took the car to Firestone as soon as I could it was out of alignment, which it was not when I left it there my drivers side was -.18 out of toe which I had to pay $146.00 to have it put back in alignment). Had 1/4 tank of gas when left it and was empty when I picked it up. My leather seats had grease in them, holes almost poked in back seat. My car smelled of oil and grease. Paint dust everywhere inside my car and in places I can't get to to clean.

Upon speaking to Mark, the body shop manager he said he let Ultra Pro drive my car off the lot to "detail it" and they were gone with my car for about 2.5 hours and their shop is only 3 minutes up the road. On Saturday September 24th, I was on my way into work opened my ash tray to put my change in it and discovered my husbands diamond ring was gone. I called him, asked him if he remembered to get it out and he said no and could not believe it was gone. I called Cumberland Auto and Mark told me to prove it was in the car.

I told him I have a 7 year old child who knew it was, did he want to talk to her? I asked Mark why my car would need detailed when it was only having bumper painted, fenders blended, hood replaced and painted a new chrome strip, a new grill and new light fixture. He said it was just something they do to be nice. I told him no, my own mother has not drove my car to let someone I don't know drive my car. Left me feeling very much violated and upset. I didn't give permission for anyone to drive my car especially off the lot and he allowed a complete stranger to me drive it off of his lot and hit something with it.

Cumberland Auto didn't do all the repairs listed on the sheet. I called State Farm and ask for an adjuster to look at this crappy job that was done on my car and the cracks in my bumper that were not previously there. The guy who came was named Ed and he told me that he was friends with Mark from Cumberland Auto, and said he saw nothing wrong with my car. A Lady from State Farm called me and said to take my car where ever I wanted and it would be fixed like it was before ever being hit while parked. I have had to fight with state farm just to get a flawed hood that was put on at Cumberland Auto taken off and replaced. State Farm told me they were going to take the flaw out of it and I was stuck with it. I fought with them for well over a week before they said they would replace it with a new hood.

Turns out the other hood didn't have some protective coating and the paint came off in a sheet. Well, they didn't replace the hood with a new one. They did use a used hood. My car has been in the shop since October 3rd, was suppose to pick it up November 1st, drove all the way to Nashville and it wasn't done. Then was told it would be ready on November 5th. While in route to pick my car up, the Collision manager called me told me bumper still isn't aligning right when he shut the hood he scratched it. My car really needed a new bumper and something was wrong, obviously wrong with the support underneath cause the bumper won't align right.

I told him that is what I have been trying to tell them all along but no one will listen. I am still without my car and now I am being told no they are not going to fix the bumper right nor my support underneath the car. My bumper on the car will never look right. I have found that State Farm has liars and the case worker whose name is Jordan, is rude hateful and talks smart to me. I keep getting the run around and lies. I have filed a police report over the ring, which has not been found.

Initially, they found me at fault but after sending them diagrams they changed it to shared fault. The other party was also State Farm.

I had two prior claims both in 2008 and both for replacement windshields after damage caused by thrown up debris from trucks. When I called my rep I was told they had fought for me to obtain the alternative policy I mentioned. I should add that my policy had gone up a couple of times due to my record and after 12 years with them I had paid in premiums far more than had been paid out by them. Prior to 2008 I had not needed to claim on my policy. I also have a house insurance policy with them that has never had a claim on it.

My agent had sent in to suspend my payment debited from my account last month because my pay period was on the 29th of the month and the auto debit comes out on the 28th. I then brought in a cheque on the 29th and the girls there did show that they had put in for the payment to be suspended. On September 30th 2011, my account showed that the cheque had been put through and that the regular payment came out on the 29th of September. So two payments came out. I asked for the money to be refunded and I was told that I had to go to the bank to show proof that the cheque had cleared.

Without my permission or my agent's knowledge, after waiting for my money, my agent's office called and said that they has applied the money to my next payment which I did not ask for and had taken time off to go to the bank and have the endorsed documents to send to show that cheque had been cleared and get the refund as I was now $400.00 short.

I never have to this date, October 27th 2011, received this money and assumed that they still put it towards the next payment. I did not authorize that it has left me very short and had to borrow the $400.00 that I did not expect to pay as it was for my Mortgage. Who has the right to make decision without my knowledge until I receive a letter in the mail regarding this.

I am so peeved and I am looking for another insurance company that will not use my money for something I did not give permission. If they cannot refund someone's money then they should not take extra payments out. I want this money returned; I have money in my bank for the payment and I am pissed.

This is not my agent's fault or her employees - it is the Finance Department they deal with.

My sister moved from NJ and into my apartment in NY. She was financing a vehicle. Being that I had insurance (with State Farm) and that we were now living together, we decided to get insurance together. I put her under my policy. I asked if we can just apply for a NY title without having to change the name on the title. The agent (Yolanda) insisted that we couldn't and the name change had to be done. We went to DMV. My sister signed the title over to me and I applied for a NY title. Eventually, I got a letter from DMV stating that they couldn't issue a title because the lienholder wouldn't issue a title under someone else's name. But we never received the NJ title back from DMV. My sister then got her own insurance. And I got a letter from DMV stating that I was under penalty for not having insurance for X amount of days. My sister couldn't get her car registered under her name because now there was a title issue through DMV. DMV has the title in their system with my name and won't release the title.

To make a long story short, I came to find out that the title could have stayed in my sister's name as long as she applied for a NY title under and her name was on the insurance ID card (in which she was on the policy). The car's registration and insurance would not have been an issue at all. But because the agent insisted we couldn't do that, we are more than $800 in debt to DMV and I've lost 2 full days of work. Thanks to Yolanda at State Farm on Main Street in Flushing, NY.

The court solicitor finally told the insured person to stop the dispute or he would get points added to his record. The adjuster was responsive and came out the next day (who gets the one star above). But then, it still took 2 weeks and 2 different claims for people to respond. Then, Sylvia ** (who was on the case from the beginning and at the end) finally called and gave the vehicle loss estimate. I had to make sure that tow bills were included and asked about loss of use and injury. She had to think about that and would get back. It took another 5 days and she offered one thing on the phone, which I repeated twice. When we got the check, it was another thing. She combined everything that was discussed under only one of the figures we agreed to. Of course, we had to sign off on all before getting the check, so there was no recourse. That was very tricky State Farm and Sylvia **!

I was involved in a car accident in the company parking lot. I was pulling into a parallel spot and backed up within the lines to straighten my car when I was hit from behind on the right side by a car that was coming into the lot. It did not yield to let me complete my parking. My rear bumper was damaged by the hit and I ended up at the hospital. The other driver got out the car telling me she was so sorry she hit me. A witness stated that she slowed down then suddenly began driving very fast towards my car as I was backing up to straighten my car when she struck the rear of my vehicle. State Farm determined that I was 100% at fault in this accident without even asking me or coming to the site to see the damage to my car. I think the adjuster is at fault in this and I am changing my insurance to another carrier. I had to pay for my own repairs while State Farm paid for hers. This is not a fair outcome.

I have written to Mr. Edward Rust, CEO of State Farm Insurance, several times regarding concerns that I have with State Farm. However, I have not yet received any response from him. I am therefore writing this open letter in hopes that he will respond.

On November 8, 2006, I was involved in an auto incident. There was a scratch mark on the other car; however, I did not feel a thump and there was no damage to my car. So I assumed that the two cars missed each other. To this date, I am still not convinced that the two cars actually made contact. The other driver and I exchanged information, and later I called State Farm to report the incident. I relayed all the information to a State Farm agent at the 24-hour call center and I was given a claim number.

A few days later, a claims representative contacted me to discuss the incident. I was suspicious of how State Farm was handling this matter, so I asked her to send me a full report of State Farm's investigation. I explained that I wish to verify the information on the report to ensure its accuracy. I was told that I would be receiving a letter soon.

On November 30, I called the claims representative to say that I still did not receive the report of their investigation about this incident. I was told that I would not be receiving a report, and that State Farm considers me to be 100% at fault for the collision and that the matter was closed.

In early December of 2006, I received a call from a State Farm team manager. He was responding to a letter that I sent to Ed Rust, CEO of State Farm. During the phone call, he indicated that there were irregularities regarding State Farm's investigation of this incident. I asked him if State Farm had verified whether or not the two cars actually made contact, but he seemed to not understand what I meant, so I explained to him the same information that I gave to the claims representative before. I also mentioned to the team manager that I felt that the other driver may have been speeding, and asked him if State Farm verified this. Again, he seemed to not know what I was talking about, so I must assume that this was not investigated. I, again, asked for a complete report of State Farm's investigation into this matter, but he said that State Farm does not normally issue such reports. I indicated to him that in my opinion, State Farm seems to have a habit of botching things on my account, so it is imperative that I receive this report so that I can verify the accuracy of State Farm's investigation of this matter.

Later, in a letter dated June 28, 2007 from a claims representative, State Farm sent me several poor quality photos of both cars. However, as of the date of this letter, I have not yet received a complete report of State Farm's investigation of this matter. Each time that I instructed State Farm to give me this information, either verbally or in writing, I was given a non-committal response.

On December 13, I was contacted by phone by a State Farm tasker. He requested that I meet with him at the scene of the incident and explain what happened, which I did. He said that he had already met the other driver. I asked the tasker to verify if the two cars had actually made contact and to verify the other car's speed at the time of the incident. He seemed to indicate that he would look into it. Please note that my discussions with the team manager and the tasker were after I received the letter from State Farm indicating that the matter was closed.

In a letter dated January 16, 2007 from a State Farm claim representative, it was again indicated that State Farm considers me 100% at fault and, among other things, that photos indicate light color scratches and scuff marks on the right corner bumper of my vehicle. However, my car and the other person's car are not light in color. In fact, my car is silver and the other car is metal flake/dark gray in color.

Later, in a letter dated March 5, 2007, State Farm indicated that I am 51% or more at fault. So first, State Farm considered me 100% at fault before collecting essential information, but later, after collecting further information, considers me to be 51% at fault. However, State Farm still refuses to share with me the information that they collected. I feel that all this is, in the least, inefficient, and at most, suspect. I want State Farm to send me the report with statements, photos, reports and any other original information related to this incident so that I can verify it and then we can move on to closing this issue.

While researching this matter, I've found that there are no laws requiring an insurance company to share with their customers the information that they collect, except information that the customer personally gave to the insurer, but it seems that an insurance company may share this information with their customer voluntarily.

I've been driving for about 25 years. In all that time, I have never caused an auto collision. I am deeply concerned that State Farm has botched this investigation and has ruined my driving record. This is not the only trouble that I've had with State Farm. In fact, I've had trouble with State Farm on-and-off in 2006. There were two other non-related incidents.

In June of 2006, the brakes failed on my car. Fortunately, there was no collision. I had the car towed to the dealership for repair, and I rented a car for a few days while my car was in the shop. Later, I called my agent to obtain a refund for towing and car rental charges, but I was told that I did not have towing or car rental coverage. I was sure that I did, but I did not have my policy in front of me, so I said goodbye and then started to look for my policy. A few minutes later, the phone rang; it was the agent's office, and I was told that I did have towing coverage but not rental. Later, I found my policy and it confirmed that I have both towing and car rental coverage.

Later, I talked with a State Farm agency field consultant and she assured me that I would be reimbursed for the rental as well. Some time passed, but I still did not receive a check. Later, I received a letter from a State Farm claims representative which stated that I would not be receiving reimbursement for the car rental. So first it was no, then yes, then back to no. I feel that State Farm owes me for reimbursement for car rental and something for the time that I spent trying to collect it. State Farm did reimburse me for towing.

In another incident, in the fall of 2006, I was rear ended by another car. This was a slow speed incident at a stoplight and there seemed to be no damage to either car. However, I asked the other person for her information and wrote it down. I called my State Farm agent, but an answering machine answered, so I left all the information on the recording. However, I never received a call from the agent. Some months later, I discovered that State Farm had no knowledge of this incident. Later, I was contacted by State Farm to give them the information again. I now consider this matter closed.

I have since left State Farm, and I'm now with another insurance company. I am still trying to resolve the November 8 matter, and the reimbursement for towing for the June 2006 matter. I am also in the process of contacting my elected civil servants to request that they initiate laws to require businesses (especially insurance companies) to share all information that they have of their customers to those customers. Remember, Mr. Rust, insurance companies are in the reliability business, and they must live up to that.

In August of 2007, I bought a used slide-in truck camper. When I contacted my State Farm agent, I was required to provide documentation on the new replacement cost of this camper. The manufacturer was out of business. But I had plenty of documentation on the far superior construction methods used to build my camper. The agent and I agreed that the only proper comparisons with similar construction would be Alpenlite or Bigfoot, with an agreed new replacement value of $52,000. I still have no idea why they wanted that.

In September 2010, my camper was hit while I was in a K-Mart parking lot. No witnesses and no one was hurt, so the sheriff's office did not come out. I took the camper to the local RV dealer with the most repair bays. I was given an estimate that would not repair my camper in a manner that would last for many miles, per the service writer. Also, their repair would redistribute the weight and center of gravity, causing it to be unsafe to carry in the bed of my truck. I searched around and found an RV dealer that had sold my brand when it was new. I called and they had experience repairing Real-Lite campers to their original methods and standards. This dealer's estimate was fairly high, so State Farm decided to total it.

My research leads me to a current value of about $12,000. State Farm has offered $5,300, the amount of the first repair estimate. If times were better, I would take it and forget State Farm exists, calling it the cost of my education. Of course, I had a costly education from Allstate years ago and another $15,000 tuition bill from Humana 4 years ago. It seems the only solution is the elimination of for-profit insurance companies. I have already convinced others to move $3,500 annual premiums elsewhere. When this is resolved, they will be losing another $4,000 in premiums plus any other business I can push away from them. State Farm doesn't care about losing these premiums. They have told me so. The slide-in campers they have used as comparables are nothing like mine and are of no use to form a value. Meanwhile, county code enforcement is about to start fining me over the junk RV in my yard. I know there is not enough money in this to involve an attorney. I have been looking for an independent adjuster, but they all seem to deal only in homeowners insurance. Do you have any suggestions?

The State Farm agent then informed me to take the camper somewhere to be looked at, however, there wasn't much in it and they are not going to cover it. I asked, "why am I paying you again?". They said unless it has been damaged by a storm or something, they are not responsible. So I got the camper looked at, at my expense of $50.00, and the bill to repair was $10000.00. State Farm then asked me, "so do you want to turn in a claim for this?". Yes, I said. I would like this problem fixed. So another week went by and an investigator came by to tell me that "Yes, this is your fault. It's a maintenance issue and we're not responsible".

I would like to let others know about my experience with Jared Swank's State Farm Insurance in Olmsted falls.

Shortly after I purchased my home in Berea (2006), a neighbor named Gary ran from across the street over to my house. Gary is an employee of Jared Swank's office. During a conversation, Gary said to me: "When you first moved in, I scanned your name to see who you had your insurance with. I noticed you were already with State Farm." This is a violation of my privacy rights. Gary did not know who I had insurance with. He took it upon himself to look up my personal information for his own use. He did not have my authority to do so. At the time, I did not do anything about it. However, I was furious.

Several months ago, I was reviewing my credit report. I noticed that State Farm Insurance reviewed my credit report through Lexis/Nexis. I was concerned again so I contacted Jared Swank's office. Jared, himself, advised me that 'State Farm will never view my credit report'. He assured me of this over and over. I insisted State Farm viewed it because it was on my credit report. He, again, insisted that State Farm never reviews credit reports. I advised Jared of the incident I had with Gary who works at his office. Jared said, "Look, what you think of Gary as a neighbor has nothing to do with my company." Well, it does have to do with your company when Gary is accessing my very personal information with the use of your company's personal search engine, and it is for the benefit of your company! Jared also insisted that his agency does not use Lexis/Nexis, nor do they have access to it.

Needless to say, I have filed civil rights complaints through Lexis/Nexis, State Farm Insurance, and the Office of the Attorney General. It became obvious to me that Jared was wrong. Lexis/Nexis called me to tell me that Jared told the employee of Lexis/Nexis that I gave State Farm the authority to look my information up as a consumer of State Farm Insurance. So, it looks like State Farm does have access to Lexis/Nexis and State Farm did look up my personal information. Gary did not have permission to look up my information when he did not know who I had insurance with. Jared was wrong when he said that State Farm never looks up credit reports. I had insurance with State Farm for nearly 20 years and never had a problem with them looking up my credit report. Now, Jared is making excuses for his agency. Why is there a need for all of the contradicting information? I am no longer with State Farm Insurance. I have found a much better company that I feel secure with. I will continue to pursue my belief that my privacy rights were violated and my personal information was misused.

I want to know if by law I have the right to do so. And do they have the legal right in this situation to deny me car insurance for any such reason? They were rude and demanding. And now they are refusing my policy renewal. I find it interesting that they (Underwriting Department State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company) tell me: “You may have the right to purchase car insurance through the Hawaii Joint Underwriting Plan. Please see your State Farm agent or any licensed Hawaii insurance agent for details.” Well, it will cost me more than what I'm currently paying. What are my rights? I'm interested in escalating this matter legally and bring in media attention as well, but only if I have a good/clear case. I'm certain this is not an unusual complaint. Thank for your support and insight. Aloha.

State Farm Insurance has ruined my life. They made a mistake on my auto coverage and added me onto a family plan that I did not even know. When I called to correct the problem, they refused. Then I reported them to their regional office and they cancelled my auto insurance without telling me. I then could not get an auto insurance because in Florida, it is against the law to have your auto insurance cancelled. The agent retired and there is still no justice for me.

After five years of being insured with them (four cars, house and business), my son had two accidents. The first one was a total loss; it was the fault of two parties. The second one was the uninsured party’s fault. Well, these guys did not renew my policy because they said I had twelve claims. I haven’t had that. They were counting towing services and house claims that they did not pay and et cetera. However, that is why insurance companies were created, aren’t they? They must say the truth. I’ve been paying an obscene amount of monthly payments, and never failed on that. Now they just do not want me as a customer.

I am writing to inform you of a recent experience with State Farm Insurance and warn you so that something like this does not happen to you. We have recently been denied coverage for a recent auto accident. On the evening of August 23, 2011 at 8:23, I had an auto accident two blocks from my home in Olathe, Kansas. It wasn't a serious accident but it did cause damage to my car and another vehicle.

That night, while going through bills, we were horrified to discover that my auto insurance premium had not been mailed and was late by 23 days. We never received a courtesy call from our agent about this lapse. We made the payment the next day and reported the accident. Two days later, we were informed that since the premium had not been paid at the time of the accident, State Farm would not be honoring our claim. This was investigated at the highest levels at State Farm and throughout, we never received any concern about our circumstances. Only cold institutional treatment. You know the whole, like a good neighbor State Farm is there? It is only there if they want it to be.

The premium had not been made due to extenuating circumstances. I am an elementary school teacher and I'm attending graduate school seeking a master's degree in gifted education. My wife's father has been dying of cancer since his diagnosis two years ago. He also has advanced Alzheimer's which was diagnosed prior to the cancer diagnosis. My wife, who has taken the responsibility of paying our bills while I am going to school, has acted as an additional caregiver for my father-in-law as Jim has become more incapacitated. She is going over to her parents' house most every evening to help her mother care for Jim and working from their house at least once a week. The stress has been incredible and unfortunately, the premium payment was missed. When the payment was made, our insurance was continued by State Farm with a lapse for the time the payment was late. This was when the accident occurred. Now, State Farm is happy to continue having us as customers and have us continue to send them large premium checks.

We have been loyal customers of State Farm Insurance for 23 years as a married couple and my wife was a customer for five years prior to our marriage. We have our life insurance, home owners insurance and auto insurance all through State Farm and have never had excessive claims made on any of the policies. We are good, honest citizens of the United States and the state of Kansas and always pay our bills even when times are tight. We are not trying to defraud State Farm, but merely wanted State Farm to honor a long-standing association we have had with them when we needed them. We have paid many thousands of dollars in premiums during our association with State Farm and think we deserve better treatment as loyal customers.

State Farm has increased our premium under the NC SDIP point system, claiming that we were negligent. However, we maintain that we were not negligent. State has no proof, whatsoever, that we were negligent. They did not send an agent to view the conditions of the road at the time and have no way of determining that we were negligent. As stated, NC Law requires the driver to be "Free of Negligence" to avoid being assessed SDIP points.

We have stated that we drove with great care and acted as a reasonably prudent person would have done under similar circumstances, and meet all the care, and reasonable prudence requirements of the definition of Black's Legal definition. We therefore dispute State Farm's claim. They were not only unable to prove that we were negligent, but were not able to prove that we didn't act in a careful and prudent manner. State Farm has wrongly assessed SDIP points. We accuse State Farm of being dishonest and of misrepresenting the facts to their own benefit.

I had a wreck on 24 August. I drove the car to the dealer, then immediately called State Farm. I then waited until 6 September without hearing from anyone. I later found that someone had evaluated the car and declared it totaled over a week previously. I do not understand how it can be totaled when I could drive it several miles from the scene of the accident to the dealer. I called your claims department and Kelly **, after some discussion, agreed to have my car repaired. Then I checked with the dealer, Downtown Ford in Louisville, and they said they could have it ready for me by today because I am leaving on a trip tomorrow morning. I waited and again, heard nothing. I called the dealer just now and was told that someone came and re-evaluated the car. Now, you want to total it again. I am really frustrated. It's been 3 weeks. You're threatening to leave me without a vehicle. You consistently do not contact me when you're supposed to. I think when I do get something worked out, I'll change insurance companies.

My mother was called and told that my husband and I were 2 months late on our car insurance and 3 months late on our home insurance. The insurance lady told my mother all of our information. My mother called and reamed me. I called the insurance company. I was told that we were fine and not late, and actually had a credit on our account. When I asked why the insurance lady would call my mother and speak to my mother, the owner had no idea. We did get everything handled. But I am still very frustrated, seeing as how I am in my late 20's and have been on my own since I was 18. I will switch companies!

I am a State Farm customer or should I say was. On 4-09-2011, a pick-up truck pulled out of an apartment complex with the intent to cross over a total of 6 lanes to get to the other side of the highway. The driver never looked at the west bound traffic, only looking for east bound oncoming traffic. I was traveling west, and they pulled out in front of me. The driver at fault is also State Farm. She was cited and found at fault. Both vehicles had to be towed.

Things started out okay but went wrong very quickly. Every time the garage had a question about my repair, it took a week to resolve. Days turned to weeks. By the time the final disposition was made, it was 12 weeks later. In the meantime, my bank wanted payments. I had only bought my car 5 months previously. By this time, I'm on the phone with total loss almost every other day and could get no straight answers.

When I was told that my vehicle would be totaled, I was told I had 5 days to return the rental. When asked about my current loan, I was told that SF would call my bank and get a letter of guarantee to get the title so that I could get another loan. When I asked how long this would take, I was told in 3-4 days.

On the 3rd day, I called my bank to check the status and was told that no one had contacted them. I now have 2 days left on the rental. I called SF back and raised ** and was told that the request would have to be overnight. Two days later, I still didn't have it. This would cause screaming match number 2. The rental needed to be returned by 6 that evening and I still didn't have a new car. When I told the claims manager that overnight means overnight and not 2 days later, she said, "Well Mr. St***, if it goes out after 2pm, it's not overnight. It's 2 day delivery." Then the haggling over pay-off value started.

SF wanted to give me $6,500 on a $12,000 car. We finally settled on $10,000. They sent the bank $6,500. Phone fight #3 ensues, and I was told that I must be mistaken that $10,000 was never mentioned. After I wrote a letter to SF corporation, I got a call telling me that the total was never changed in the computer and that another check for $3,500 would be sent.

Everyone told me it took 14 weeks to settle something that was not my fault. Then, my son had an accident - his fault. In the meantime, my wife has 2 blown discs and a torn rotator cuff because of the wreck and has to have surgery. She hired a lawyer. Yesterday, we were cancelled. If SF were the last insurance company on earth, I would not use them.

I cancelled my current policy with State Farm for two cars. I took out another policy for a new truck. This new truck has low-jack alarm. State Farm did provide a discount for the alarm. I went to AAA for a quote, and my insurance for my truck was at lower rate. I cancelled that policy with State Farm on July 29, 2011, but haven't received my refund. It is now September 9, 2011. I sent email to the local office and a letter to State Farm Bakersfield. I still haven't gotten a reply.

In January 2011, our son was involved in a single car accident involving black ice on a road in which he drove off the road, causing damage to the axles and tires of our 02 GT Mustang. State farm suggested a body shop in the city of Lubbock, Texas where our son is attending college. The body shop was Precision Body. They repaired and delivered the car.

The work was not done correctly as we began experiencing problems with front end alignment and the new rear axle was making loud noises. We took the car back two or three times and it was eventually decided by the shop to order another rear axle assembly, from a junkyard, I might add! The second axle was installed and immediately we again had problems. A call was made to the shop because the wheels simply did not look like they were aligned and the front end alignment pulled heavily. Again a call was made asking why the shop left a wheel spacer out and why the car was still not aligning correctly. I asked for them to check the alignment and they stated that they were sending the car to Ford,

We got the car back and my son drove it to Houston for summer break. I took one look at the car and was appalled to see the fear axle so far out of alignment that the tires actually tilted visibly inward at the top. The second axle was seriously bent. I notified State Farm team 53 to discuss the ongoing problem. Their statement of "findings" was not only insulting and downright appalling, it is without merit or any known facts based only on assumptions. They stated that the claim was paid and that we must have caused further damage to the car.

If State Farm thinks they can attack our integrity, our principles, or our morals while jacking us for our premiums, they have no idea on the battle they have just entered. I cannot begin to tell you how scammed and defrauded, belittled, and simply crapped on. People, there is no loyalty or honor amongst State Farm claims agents, in my opinion of course. My attorney will now be assigned to handle this one as needed, period! And yes, State Farm, we will check your integrity at the door.

State Farm located at 320 Saw Mill River Road in Yonkers, NY. I went to this agency to get a car insurance. The agent gave me a quote, handed me some papers and told me to sign them; that I was signing the policy. A few weeks later, I received a letter from a loan company that they want a payment on a loan that was taken out by State Farm in my name, and that they will take the money directly out of my bank account if I don't pay. When I would question this agent about certain fees and what they were, she was dumbfounded and could not even answer my questions. This agency is highly unorganized and sent me over seven letters with different amounts due and different due dates. Then they sent me at least three different cancellation dates. I did not know what and when to pay and in the midst of all these inconsistent due dates that was sent to me, they sent me a late charge fee of $65. I appreciate your help with this matter.

This company took my information for car insurance even if they knew my husband has not had a license for 5 years, knew that I married him less than a year ago and knew that I have a good driving record. They then sent my information to underwriting, took $127 of my money, sent my policy and agreed to cover me, then cancelled my insurance because my husband is "an atrocious man". When I asked how this is my fault as he is not on my policy, she said "you married him". So I get money stolen and punished for something my husband did years before I met him? **!

Apparently they were just going to keep my money and cancel it in October! The letter said it was already cancelled and I could get a refund. Here is her reply when I asked for my money back so I can go with another company who was cheaper anyway:

    Christina,

If you would like me to cancel your policy effective today. I will be more than happy to do that. State Farm will send you the difference from the time your policy was in force to the day it was cancelled. You will not get 100% of the premium back.

Please let me know what you would like me to do.

    My response was:

I've made several reviews about your company already. Contacting the BBB and my bank to dispute. You have disrespected my husband and me and should have had your ducks in a row before taking my money and sending me an approved policy.
