There were 4 lanes where the accident happened. We were both entering the same lane when we gently tapped @ equivalent points on the car. I immediately moved back into my original lane making sure no car was in the way. We pulled over, I got out of the car, walked over and asked if she was okay as she was still sitting in her car. She said she was fine. And as she continued to sit in her car, she poked her finger out the window barely looking at the side of her car and said, "That was there before." I stepped back, looked at her car and said, "That's old damage!"
I walked over to my car and there was virtually no damage, just a ripple (3 dimples or indentations) in the right wheel well and absolutely no paint loss or chips anywhere on the car. When the police arrived, he looked at my car, looked at her car and said to the woman (pointing to where she pointed earlier on her car) saying, "That's old damage!" Soon after another police officer arrived and took over. He was young. He didn't take my statement, spent his entire time with the other woman.
Overlooked by All: 1. There was no ticket given. 2. The 1st Trooper on scene that saw the old damage, he's being overlooked. 3. In the police report the officer said, "I was unable to describe the incident." Even though he was apparently gave a falsified report which is being overlooked. 4. My pictures I took the day of the accident and sent to Progressive were overlooked by Progressive. 5. The report the adjustor wrote that said there was a 2 inch difference, basically stating there was no way I could've caused that damage was overlooked. 6. The lady was speeding/passing on the right hand (slow) lane. 7. The other lady had two children in the car and one was in the front seat and was not properly restrained (the point, I'm trying to make here is that the officer overlooked everything in this case).
The Consequences: The accident was deemed 100% my fault. I asked the woman to not go through my insurance and she said, "Oh this is an old car. I won't even get this fixed." This woman was dishonest from the start and is taking advantage of the system. My insurance will go up to $5000 a year (this is not a joke) because only one insurance company will take me after having this claim. Why would Progressive knowingly pay out to a person committing insurance fraud?

After receiving an online quote for $160/month, I proceeded with the buying process. Suddenly, my premium jumped to $196/month. According to them, because I had a non-fault accident back in 2013, I was a higher risk. I called them to get this resolved and told their agent that someone had side-swiped me on the highway and was cited for this by the NC Highway Patrol. His insurance paid for my repairs, so why am I a higher risk? The agent refused to listen and attempt to resolve the issue, so I told her they just permanently lost a new customer and hung up on her.

I was in a minor fender bender over a year ago. Like a good person I called my insurance company and let them know. I will admit I was at fault in this minor accident. Total repair estimate for my car a hundred bucks and around 250 for the other guy. Not worth claiming, right? The claim was cancelled, the last contact I had with a rep was stating the claim was cancelled. I try to get a new auto policy a year later and my rates have tripled. I have no idea why. My agent tells me it's about this claim. Apparently the other guy went to the hospital a week later and claimed to be injured--a 22 year old healthy black male. They paid him 7000 for bodily injury and never truly investigated his claims. There is NO way this man was injured in our minor collision. But my insurance rates have tripled and progressive will not review this case for fraud. My driving record is utterly screwed because of this and I can't get decent insurance rates to save my life now.

CLASS ACTION SUIT: Progressive does not deal in a fair manner. I wish to file a class action for unfair practices in making not guilty parties sign a waiver letter just to give a partial payment for losses and not be able to take the guilty party to court for the remainder of the damages. The law requires for insurances to practice in a fair manner. I need to know who wishes to join me... I can share with you some relative law cases and try to obtain a law firm who is willing to file a class action suit. Email me at: **.

I have been with Progressive Insurance for many years. I originally had a local insurance company and when a Progressive customer hit me I switched because they were very fair and seemed friendly. This has proven to be a mistake, they raise insurance costs for seemingly no reason. (Never been in a wreck in 5+ years, no tickets as well.) Every time I call in I speak to someone who doesn't have a clue about customer service, as they jump straight to business and immediately ask why you are calling in like you are bothering you. Gone are the days of "how is your day going?" or "How are you".
My car is an older car that isn't worth much money, yet Progressive seems to think that my deductible needs to be higher each time I renew. I have just the bare bones basics and pay over 60+ dollars. I moved a ways down the street and that was justification enough to raise my rate with no apology. I pay on time every month through autopay and every time I call in I get a rep that either doesn't care at all, or is downright rude. (I've called a max 3 times since I've had the policy.)
This is a very poorly run company and checking rates with the competition I seem to be over paying by a whole lot. Poor customer service and shady ways to increase deductibles means that if you're looking for a company that values their customers, stay very far away from Progressive, as the only thing progressive about the company is the consistent rate increases and extremely unmotivated customer service.

Called Progressive 9/05/15, locked keys in truck. At first I was told my truck wasn't on the policy, had to read off the vin numbers. She found it... "we are sending someone, should be there at 8:50 p.m." No one. Called Ideal the towing company, they stated he would be coming!!!! Back and forth with Progressive telling them I have 3 small sickly kids, one 70 year old woman, and my health isn't that great to please find someone so I can get out of this park it's dark.
I asked the drivers several times how long it will be before he reaches us? He keep giving me different times and how many miles he was away from us??? I'm very unhappy with the services Progressive called themselves providing last night. I'm going to try my best to get my father to leave them... it was after 10:30 p.m. when he did make it after the police told him to stay where he was, he would bring him to us! He pulled up with a lady in his s-10 truck radio up loud, gets out smoking! This is what we pay for???

Linda was rude, condescending, and unhelpful! They have the highest rates out there. I signed up with Progressive with liability insurance, when I bought my new car I wanted full coverage and their quotes were higher than all the others. I decided to go with State Farm. When I canceled with Progressive they charged me $55 even though I paid for a full month and an opening fee, I had coverage for 15 days! In the end I ended up paying over $250 for insurance for just 15 days and the women on the phone mocked me. So disrespectful and unprofessional.

So I'm on a light and the light turns green with me going straight. The Progressives driver comes out of the ramp, hits me, and drives on the sidewalk. So we stopped, exchanged insurance, made a claim. Ruby ** is handling my claim, she emailed me requesting information. I told her in words how and where it happened but she didn't understand, until I drew her pictures and took new photos of the area. Ok so 1 week goes by I call Ruby 2 times, on the 3rd she answers and says "oh I talked with our driver but we need more information, you can get an estimate only".
Ok so today was week 3... I call Ruby at 12:05 pm, 12:20 pm and 12:30 pm, I talked with Kathleen and she said she will leave Ruby a memo. At 4:30 pm still no call and Ruby is there 8 am to 5 pm. I asked for the manager at ** and he didn't pick up at first either, got in touch with him and I asked him "why is it taking so long and why is Ruby neglecting me via phone and email". He said they are unable to get in touch with their driver and if I can't wait call my insurance and let them handle it... then he said "can you wait one moment, can you do that for me", and hung up. Now if they deny my claim I can sue them with the video from my dash cam?

For my first time buying a car, having to get full coverage on it seemed like a lot. Progressive made it sound easy. Until they actually had to handle my claim. I turned too sharp one morning, hit a pole on my passenger side, and was immediately undriveable. A few days later my claim representative TYLER ** calls me to tell me my car is totaled. I'm in shock. I hit a pole going not even 10 mph and my car I just got 4 months ago is totaled??? Yes because progressive only quotes brand new car parts so that right there is half the overpriced cost. After they total my car out. My only next option is for them to tow it to junk yard. (So they could get more money out of it, I would never see/ go towards my $4,000 interest I still had sitting with me even after my insurance paid the Kelly Blue Book to my lien holder.)
So now I'm telling Tyler I still want to keep my car. I wanna fix it myself for what the car shop has got my estimate down to $1500. He tells me for days I have no other option but to let them come tow it so everything can process. (Their check to the lien holder and their money to come from the parts on my car at the junkyard.) This is where it got ugly on the phone and I told him I would be doing this right here- telling everyone how awful he handles claims and doesn't help- because I knew I could buy that car back from my insurance and he never offered and said I couldn't for day after day.
He says one day he talked to his supervisor and here's what we can do. We can sell the car back with a salvaged title and tries to tell me that's not what I was asking the whole time because I just wanted to buy the car. I didn't say anything about salvaged. This guy is just getting me word for word and not helping always sounds like he's just taking his time to get back to me. Has never answered my call, always has to call me back. Final straw with him was this past week. Wednesday he calls to tell me he is OVERNIGHTING my title to me. I need to take it and switch it to salvage, send him a picture of proof, then he'll have my car towed back to my shop (where they towed it to an off lot of their choice to be held for collateral ).
Friday evening comes and I didn't receive a title yet. I think okay if he overnighted it Thursday it should be here today so I call Tyler to find his phone is off. Saturday comes and goes. No title and his phone is still off. Sunday I don't think they run but if they do same thing, no title and his phone is still off. Monday morning he calls me to tell me he tracked it and it was to be delivered today. I go, how does that make sense for overnight shipping? It's been 4 business days. His explanation is simply it's fedex's fault. Well I was determined to see about that one.
As soon as the FedEx lady arrived at my house that morning I walked out and greeted her and asked simply if this package was an overnight package. She pointed directly to the package and says "No. Right here it's says it's for two day delivery!" I immediately call Tyler and ask why did he tell me I would have overnight shipping when I didn't. He simply says that he himself l was not in charge of shipping it and he was sorry! 3 different occasions I have this representative telling myself, myself and my boyfriend that he was definitely overnighting it.
I was expecting to have the title switched that same Friday, my car be towed back to the shop and it would be getting worked on right now. But you know what? None of that has happened bc I am at the mercy of this awful claim rep. I have two jobs and this is has been the hardest month spending more money taking rides than I ever would just putting gas in my car. Literally breaking me and this claim rep acts as if it's not his job to assist me as quickly and efficiently as possible.

I applied for a free quote for car and home insurance online from progressive and filled out all the information they wanted. They said my house was valued at 75,000 which it isn't. I said it was only worth 65,000 and they said I had to hire an independent assessor to show the value of the house. My property tax is based on 65,000 and why should I have to hire someone to prove the value for my house. My current insurance company used the tax value. I wouldn't buy progressive if they were the last company on earth and I will let everyone I know just what jerks they are and how crappy they treat potential customers.

They are the worst company I ever had to deal with and I am sure I would never buy insurance with them, not even if I got it for free. Worst experience ever!!! Although I have happily been with Progressive for over 6 years, today I was beyond frustrated with this company. I don't typically bash companies on the internet -- but in this case, I had to. My partner and I recently traded in both of our cars for a used truck. Before we purchased the truck, I called to get an insurance quote to be sure I could afford the monthly payments. Sure enough, the payments skyrocketed, but it was still super affordable. So we bought the truck! Yay! Of course today, I called to actually change my policy, and they told me that my monthly payment was over $40 more than what they quoted me. After being on the phone for 45 minutes, I finally got it so it was only $22 more than what they quoted me. I just took it.
Just out of curiosity, I shopped around. Although I wanted to be loyal to Progressive -- I figured what the heck. Sure enough, I found insurance for $10 less a month with Geico. To make it worse, my partner had just cancelled his policy with Geico hours before. He received many military discounts and loyalty discounts, but because he had cancelled his policy with Geico under the assumption that we were getting a deal with Progressive -- all of those discounts went away. So Progressive basically lied to us about our monthly payments and screwed us out of discounts and affordable monthly payments. I cancelled my policy immediately. Do not trust this company! They are liars!

I was talked into getting the roadside assistance package. The second month of a new term with this company I locked my keys in the car. I was happy that I had added the coverage. However, the company they contracted to assist me never arrived. After calling back 3 times and waiting over two hours I was able to get help from a friendly passerby. I called the locksmith to let them know I didn't need any more help. Several weeks later Progressive sent me a cancellation notice for using my roadside assistance coverage. Now they want to fix their mistake. I will never use Progressive again. I can't rate them any lower. Also, I see that over 1,000 people have rated them 1 star when I'm sure they would have liked to give a lower score. All I can say is you get what you pay for. With Progressive that's nothing. The idea that by law we are required to have coverage that doesn't help, seems to be a scam. Be wary of this company.

My car was hit and the person who hit my car ran away. I told Progressive about what happened and they investigated for three months and tried to find any excuse not to pay for the claim all because they seen that my kid got a ticket in the car a while before this all happened and because of that they decided not to pay me for the damage. Now I have to take them to small claims court and I think that is a horrible way to treat someone who has three cars under them and Been with them for two years. Be smart. Take your business somewhere else before they try to rob you too and cause more stress in your life!!!!!

I'm disgusted with Progressive. My husband and I have been with them 4+ years. They claim to have a loyalty program. I find no loyalty whatsoever on their end. It's really iffy how our policy varies in price from one month the next one month will be $150 the next could be $220 - who knows? Not once has my husband or I been in an accident or had a ticket, especially my husband who has been driving almost 30 years with no issues.
I'm disgusted by how unfair in their policy they are. When I received paper bills from them the price was way high but of course companies always say "Well that's counting this month" or whatever etc. I let it go. But now I receive the bill through email as soon as it comes out, of course I have the same issue. Then at one point it was only $60 a month - the lowest it's ever been, because I gave them my debit card number.
I think it's wrong that it's $60 if I give all my card information to them but at least $150 if it's not through my account. Needless to say, I'm done and looking for a different insurance company. Progressive is one big joke. Flo is awesome but she's also a fake character just like progressive and their "low prices" and "loyalty benefits".

Progressive is a terrible insurance company. I was hit by someone in 2012. I followed all the proper guidelines in submitting a claim. Got my car fixed etc... However, when I call to get information on the accident because one of the pieces on my car has a faulty paint job. The trunk of my car that was replaced has absolutely no gloss left to it. Looks very dull and just overall a mess compared to the original parts.
Anyway... I call and end up speaking to one of the rudest people ever. This woman became very sarcastic with me and didn't care whatsoever in helping me. To top off the despicable customer service rep that I unfortunately had to speak with couldn't even find my information on the car accident. They had absolutely nothing on it. They couldn't tell me a thing about the accident. It just vanished from their computers. I don't recommend anyone having insurance through this company. Even while I was having my car fixed not a single person throughout the entire process was pleasant. Very rude.

When I called Progressive to file a claim the agent I spoke to said they had not yet heard from the hit and run driver.
I had to wait until the next week and when I talked to the Progressive agent he told me they would have an adjuster get in touch with me the following week. At this point I'm getting really upset. 1st off, wow. I was hit, mirror was damn near off the car at a stop sign. Lady takes off after hit (they're insured) and I called 911 and cops got her. I laughed, like really? After claim was submitted to them they called 2x to different agents from 2 different states, Ohio and PA. So they both got my story. What's next, right? My claim was denied. I knew this was going to happen because the other person felt she was wronged. Really? I sued Progressive and case settled out of court. Good thing too because I'd have won way more. My car's fixed and I'm happy with the offer that our family practice got back but I am disappointed in the way they treated me after the 1st adjuster denied my claim once I filed suit. I was greeted by a nasty fellow who was damn certain of himself. Last checked God didn't appoint him commander of insurance. I'm a student in Law and I am humble so please understand. I'm not after you for millions, LOL. Fix my car!!!
Progressive claims adjuster was rude. Said "you need witnesses and I'm a lawyer for the insured." 1st off he was reported for this. I'm a law student, I'd never daresay I'm a lawyer if I knew I wasn't, so I knew he lied!!! And he misrepresented the insurance company and their interests at hand. I am a shareholder of PGR so I understand why they'd be upset but come off it, man. The police saw it all, do you really wanna play this? He hired a poor lawyer who saw this case and probably grabbed a shot glass because his client was guilty as hell.
Since my family has a practice I wasn't swayed by his threats. In fact I loved it. He made a complete Jack@$$ of himself and Progressive Insurance had no choice but to discharge the claim with payment of satisfactory since it was in small claims court already. It made sense to settle but they chose to do it the hard way and that's why PGR sucks. It fails to stand for what is right even when their client is guilty as hell!!! I would not recommend PGR since it's worried about $ instead of people.

Two years ago we moved to FL state and went with Progressive Car insurance because it was cheapest at the time and seemed in very good standing. We usually pay our policy every 6 month or for a full year. Everything went well until we added 3rd person to our policy and we have to pay only sum under $200. It was not a big deal, right. Payment was processed before the due date and everything went well.
Then following week we got a call that our policy increased due to our Credit Score change??? Didn't make any sense. Then two days ago we got a letter from Progressive that and I'm quoting: "Your account has been listed with our company for collection. If paid in full to this office, all collection activity will be stopped." The amount was the $5 less than what we paid?? So I called them again to see what going on. Per Progressive they never got the check. So I called my bank. Got the monthly statement, since the payment was processed a month ago I had the statement in my hand. Then I printed the check and the monthly statements and faxed it over to Progressive, e-mailed over to Progressive.
Progressive are not sure who got the money. I got a copy of the check that was cashed by Progressive with their stamp on it?? This is beyond radicals. Now the price of the same policy is $671 for six months, no accidents or tickets in well over five years and no claims.
I asked to speak with a supervisor, we spoke for over 48 minutes. I had copied the text of the online chat session and saved it in a word document - I informed the supervisor of this. He said that he had accessed the session and was looking at it. At the end of the conversation he said he could offer no resolution and that this was a misquote. The witness told me what happened since she saw the whole thing so she's backing me up on this too! Even the lady that hit me admitted it was her fault. How much proof do these stupid people need?! As an auto dealer I am forced to deal with these incompetent buffoons on a fairly regular basis when registering vehicles for my customers and without fail every transaction requires at least four times longer than my interactions with virtually every other insurance provider. Nobody in their company is ever on the same page as anyone else and I am required to sift through countless layers of their internal bureaucracy to get the the two simple forms required to register a vehicle in Massachusetts. They are simply awful and I hope they go bankrupt and their corporate headquarters burn to the ground.

A driver turned left in front of me, and we collided. My airbags deployed, but the front end of my car was destroyed. This happened on Thursday, July 30, 2015. I went to ER in ambulance for CAT Scan of neck and xrays of spine due to the fact that I had extensive spinal surgery which included fusing of nine vertebra on Oct. 29, 2014. The doctor saw two suspicious injuries, so I sent those films to my surgeon in New York for comparison. My back and lower neck hurt. In the meantime, I do not have a car to drive, and I am stranded at home. I have a doctor's appointment today and must beg a ride from a neighbor. I reported my accident as soon as I got home on Thursday. My company, Horace Mann, took the information, looked at police report and determined it was not my fault.
Progressive and I have spoken with 2 adjusters there and provided them with the police report. Have spoken with me but failed to take all of my statement. It is now August 4, and nothing has been done regarding my claim or my rental car. I always leave two phone numbers but if they don't reach me on one, they do not try the other! I want some response to my claim and a rental car now! I had planned to begin substitute teaching this or next week but have no way to get there. They are depriving me of income because I was the victim of their driver. I will not stop with this statement if I don't get satisfaction. There are other avenues of reporting.

I spent a week investigating online and with sheriff department that reported to scene of accident and found all applicable information. My wife recently got boat insurance through Progressive...all fine. When she got it till I had a claim they said it was caused by something else than what it was, even though my boat mechanic said it was what it was. They looked through everything, tore my boat apart without my permission, and denied the claim. They did not put it back together the right way. When you take apart a boat you need to replace seals and other stuff. They didn't pay for that, just labor to tear apart.
If you want boat insurance, this is not the place to go. They will feed you a line of ** till it comes down to paying for the right way to put it back together, then stiff you with all the cost of doing it right. My lower unit got hit by something. They said it couldn't of happened cause there was gear live on gears, lol. I have a gear lube reservoir that leaks gear lube into lower unit if needed. They tore it apart without my permission and after denying claim, wouldn't put it back together the right way.
The right way is new seals and impeller but they'll just wanna pay for labor. Then sent me a letter saying my wife don't have a valid driver's license, lol. She does or they wouldn't of gave her insurance in the first place. You don't need a license for a boat to drive so why do you have to have one for insurance for a boat? They could never answer any questions with a straight answer. I would never recommend Progressive to anyone. Forget Flo -- she is a hack.

Accident occurred June 5th - not a fault. Person who hit me (insured by Liberty Mutual) did not file a police report and refused to speak to either her or my insurance company. Progressive jumped to the conclusion that I must be at fault, but as long as I pay my $500 deductible, they can get it taken care of (over $6000 in damages). Today is July 23rd and car is still in shop. Progressive refuses to pay for rental, it has been coming out of my pocket since Monday. Spoke with a 'supervisor' today and she informed me that the rental is actually out of pocket since July 5th (over $500 at this point), and the auto body shop is not one selected by Progressive.
There are two locations of the same shop, same owner, same everything, but apparently only one is considered a Progressive shop - and it's not the one my car is at. No one informed me of this, and it is now 48 days since I've seen my car...and STILL do not know when it will be ready for me. Representatives do not answer or return phone calls, different answers from everyone you talk to, beyond frustrating. Save your sanity and avoid them at all costs!

On or about May 15, 2015 my car got broke into while my wife was at work at Abuelo's. We called the cops and they got a report. I then called Progressive, which they told me it would be a week before the adjuster could make it out. During this week it rained for about 30 minutes once or twice a day. During the break in they broke the driver window. We kept a bag and tarp over the window but whether rain or shine my wife still has to drive to work and we have kids that have activities that need to be driven to. When the adjuster came out he said he didn't need me, he knew what he was looking for, so I let him be til he was done. He estimates around 1000 for the radio, headrest DVD players, window damage, and any other damages saying he could get used parts.
I was then told to take it to a shop, which took a week to find one because no one wants to deal with Progressive. While my car was in the shop I got called by Justin from Knoxville telling me how things were going to be. Had an attitude the whole time like I was a felon when I have been paying insurance with them for years. Then informed me I was told 3 different times to duct tape my window. Why would anyone duct tape their window. Before Justin I talked to a lady Rosanna who never returned my phone calls and informed me she was done with me.
Finally 3 weeks after my car was in the shop I talked to the estimator Greg who finally said he would write me a check for 1000. We never said that was the end of it during the call or anything. We go to pick up the check and it said final payment like this is all squared away. Went to pick my car up from the shop and the insurance company paid 500 and I was informed I still owed 200. Got in my car and they hadn't fixed anything. On top of that the adjuster that showed up to talk to the guy at the shop ordered a box of spray to clean carpets which was 60.00 and never showed back up to even pay the shop the money for the carpet cleaner.
When the cops came out they estimated 2,500 worth of damage and stolen property. We got our window fixed for 200 which we paid out of pocket and they wrote us a check for 1000. Tell me how that adds up. They are the rudest company and not all about customer service. They are always right and the customer is always wrong. This is July 21, 2015 and I just got my car back today and still have no radio, my carpets still have rain damage and my driver door buttons still don't work right. Looking up a better insurance company now. Never again will I go through them.

I was involved in an at-fault accident that I immediately took responsibility for, because that's the right thing to do. I contacted Progressive and made a claim immediately and explained the incident. They promptly took care of the people whose car I struck by giving them an immediate rental and offering to come out and quote the damage on their vehicle next day. On the other hand I have had nothing but issues with this claim as far as damage on my vehicle goes. They said they could not send anyone out to assess the damage on my vehicle for a week and a half and that I had to take my vehicle in to one of their service stations, which is an hour from my house.
I did this, on my only day off, and was then advised that I could not use who I wanted to for repairs. I wanted to use a family friend who's done repairs on all of my family's vehicles for years, since he doesn't charge an arm and a leg for labor and would help save on my deductible. I was advised that Progressive will not make out a check to him to have these repairs done and will only make the check payable to my lien holder (who I finance the car with) or pay another shop directly. This makes no sense to me, what does it matter who's fixing my car if you're going to pay out the same amount regardless? I've had no problems doing this with my former insurance company and will likely be canceling my policy with Progressive. In addition, the rep contacted me and hassled me about obtaining a rental car (which I pay for). This whole thing has been inconvenient.

Progressive claims they offer accident forgiveness, but like all insurance companies it is a scam. It has a bunch of contingencies attached like the claim has to cost less than 500$. In this day and age it NEVER costs that little to fix a car. So, basically, what happens is that I end up not getting my car fix due to fear of them raising my rates. Why do we have insurance? To pay to get your car fixed in an accident, but we don't because they raise our rates even if you are a safe driver with a clean record!

I was happy to go with Progressive because its first 6-month premium was very competitive. However, this is a "suck you in" rate, and once the first 6 months passes, the cost increases, and the customer is charged for all claims, at fault or not. A man on my road gunned his truck out of his driveway and hit my car broadwide on the column between the front and rear seats, totalling the car. I was able to avoid hitting a yard light and the home of his neighbor and had no injury. I did have an at-fault accident when I went in the ditch as a result of a road construction sign (no injury).
Six months later, a deer ran in front of my car, and my choice was to hit it or go into a house (no injury). The at-fault accident was the first driving infraction I had had in almost ten years. My rate increased by over $500 per year for the first two accidents and $400 a year for the deer accident. My first premium was about $460/six months, and now the quote if over $1,000/six months. When I went to other companies for quotes, I found that Progressive refuses to complete the fault section of the information sent to Lexis-Nexis (the company that keeps your driving stats and where insurance companies go to get your driving record), so that you are listed at-fault for all driving encounters. (As a result, other companies cannot give you competitive quotes, and this ensures your continued stay with Progressive.)
I filed a dispute with Lexis-Nexis which sent a copy of my dispute to Progressive. Progressive did not respond, even though their reps told me that they could see on my Lexis-Nexis report that I was listed as not at fault, a lie. I sent the accident report to Lexis-Nexis, and they confirmed in writing Progressive's lack of response to the dispute and they removed the not-at-fault accident from my record. I talked with a manager at Progressive and he said he was unaware that Progressive did this (right!). So, now I'm contacting companies again for quotes. I think Progressive is one of the most underhanded companies with which I have dealt.

After my accident they took my car to do an assessment and called it a total loss. They were fair enough with finding comparable cars but they then deducted a fairly large sum from every vehicle calling it the adjusted sale price, as if they know what the car will sell for. I contacted all the dealers they had listed and 5 of the 8 cars had already sold at or very near list price but the insurance company was still unwilling to readjust their price to reflect actual sold prices.
The next big thing they do is under rate the condition of the car to rob you of even more money. My car in a fair assessment was slightly better over condition than the norm for my year and mileage, making it 3.2 - 3.5 out of a 5 rating due to things like I hadn't power washed my car in a couple months and drive a gravel road semi regularly. My rating was partially knocked down to a 2.35 because of dirt, come on, dirt washes off. I have dealt with many insurance companies through the years for myself and family members but this was the first time with Progressive. It has been the worst experience I've ever had with any company. I am warning everyone I know to stay as far away from Progressive as they can if they want fair and honest treatment.

Our Yamaha boat was in our marina slip and we received a call in early June from the maintenance supervisor that our boat was sinking. While on the phone with him, we requested that he flip the bilge pump on until we could get to the marina and see what had occurred. We had experienced several days of heavy rain and due to the location and direction our boat was facing though that maybe it had taken on excessive amounts of water due to this. We cleared the boat out of water and waited until the next day to see if the boat would stay clear of water. Unfortunately, our boat took on water overnight and it was again sitting exceedingly low in the water. We tried to start the engines and they refused to turn over. One engine sounded as though it was attempting to turn and the other one just sounded as if it choked. We had the boat towed to the dock and removed it from the water.
We had contacted Progressive Insurance and notified them of the issues with the boat. After a day or two we received a phone call that we could drop it at a shop to get an estimate of what was wrong with the boat and the cost of repairs. It has been over a month since our claim was made and I have only heard from our adjuster 2 times in this process - the initial contact and once to get approval to do the flush of the engines by the company where the boat is located. Every occasion when I call the adjuster, I am sent straight to voicemail.
Today in the mail, I received a notice that our claim has been denied due to a worn hose that let water into our boat. At the bottom of the letter there is a large list of reasons they will not cover repairs to your boat. I haven't heard any news from the repair shop, so I phoned them today and notified them of this information and inquired as to why they hadn't called me to inform me of what was wrong with my boat. And the gentleman stated that it was because they hadn't done the estimate on it yet. How can Progressive make a claim denial when the shop still hasn't figured out what is wrong? I am so disappointed and frustrated by this process. My husband is deployed and I feel as though they are taking advantage of this situation.

Our employee was involved in an auto accident several months ago. It was 100% the fault of the other driver and the other driver was cited. The other driver was insured by Progressive. Progressive listed the vehicle as a 'total loss' but their settlement was several thousand less than what was owed. (We'd purchased the vehicle 'new' a month and a half prior and it had less than 500 miles on it.) When I questioned the gap between their offer and the pay off value, they recommended I file a claim with our insurance company for the difference. Doing so would impact our future rates and I rejected that offer.
Their offer letter gave us 48 hours to accept. When we didn't accept, they picked up the rental vehicle they provided us and we were forced to rent a replacement vehicle on our own. We spent $2k on rental fees, until we purchased a replacement. I sent Progressive a certified demand letter, asking them to 'act in good faith', and itemized our losses and expenses, but they never responded. Two days ago I received a certified letter from a local auto yard stating that our vehicle is being listed as "abandoned." I called to find out why and the representative said that Progressive has released the vehicle from their responsibility and we now have to go pick up the vehicle or it'll be sold. So we're going to incur more fees - that I'm certain Progressive will refuse to pay.
Something has to be done to stop Progressive's 'extortion-like' tactics. I have no problem seeking an attorney to recover all our losses but a general consumer may not have this ability - and these tactics could be financially crippling for them. I know exactly what Progressive is doing - they are working the percentages, betting that only a small percentage will actually file suit against them. What will it take for them to reform their MO? Perhaps a class action lawsuit? Any suggestions?

This sounds so great and all, and for awhile I was happy. UNTIL I found out that my insurance sales rep was just trying to get a quick sale. (I guess you get what you pay for.) He should've been more informative in that in the state of Georgia, if your car has a lien-holder, then you are REQUIRED to have full coverage.
The sales reps are trained to know this stuff. I'm 25 years old, I'm not an idiot. But there is so much stuff they say to you over the phone that I just want to get the best rate & be legal!! Now I'm in the hole and Progressive has ended up costing me EVEN MORE MONEY than if I had just paid for full coverage in the beginning. I will NEVER recommend Progressive to anyone!!!!!

I had been with Progressive for 7 years, never late with a payment, never one claim filed. I was hit by an uninsured driver in Dec. 2014 and had uninsured driver coverage, which I utilized. They totaled my car out and that process was fairly simple. However, the bodily injury side has been BEYOND a nightmare. To start the agent told me completely wrong and said I should have all medical run thru my health insurance, wrong. I ended up having have everything re billed which delayed things further and dealing with collection agencies was horrible.
Then after trying to get a hold of my rep for a month I finally got in touch with her to find out that she was missing med docs that I told her I could have sent over to their office. After doing that I've now been trying to get in touch with her for OVER a month and she won't return my calls. I now have to hire an attorney just to get this stupid claim finished. I can't get the medical treatment I need because I can't afford to pay anymore co-pays so I'm sitting here praying she returns a call. Her excuse last time... "Oh, I've been planning an estate sale for my parents and I've been really busy." Really Progressive?? I was hit by a truck.
To add insult to injury they tried to use the accident against me, even though it was ruled 100% the other driver's fault and raised my rates from 61.00 to 123.00 per month. No thank you. I went with AllState - got better coverage for 67.00 per mo. on a new vehicle and I hit a raccoon just last month and they literally called me every other day to see if I had any questions on the claim. The body shop they go thru even loaned me a car so I didn't have to rent one. What a difference. I have been telling everyone I know to switch, which they have. I highly suggest not to go with Progressive, they'll take your money and screw you over in the end. It's been a sad and frustrating process.

I have dealt with almost every insurance company in my adult life from either being a client or being hit by all the terrible drivers in this world! I have never been treated so horribly! I had to basically BEG to get new car seats for my three children and when I asked about compensation for the pain, time, stress, and trauma I was told, "Oh we don't do that, I've never paid out to anyone just because our client wasted their time!" Are you kidding me? My disabled Veteran Husband was in the vehicle when we were sideswiped with no cause or reason or warning! On top of that, my three young children are now terrified to get in the car every day! My six year old daughter has had multiple nightmares over all of this!! How does a company not have compassion for the people that their clients hurt?
I truly do not understand how my Husband can honorably serve our country and my children who are innocent in all of this have to suffer while I argue with an insurance company to at least replace their car seats! The claims adjustor said that before she could pay out for the cost of the car seats until I bought them! When I explained that three car seats for children would cost well over $300.00 and that I could not afford that, she offered no solution! I finally asked if I sent her pictures of the make and model if she could then issue the payment for them and she clearly very annoyed by my even asking said, "Sure fine, okay, I guess."
What is wrong with people? Your jerk of a client came zooming up in a non-merge zone during traffic on a HOLIDAY weekend and got mad at the car in front of us for flicking him off, so what does he do...HE HITS US!!! And yes, this idiot even admitted this to the cops and it is on the record! But who is the one being punished... MY FAMILY!!! Thanks a lot Progressive!!

My parked car was hit at 2:30am. The owner was on the scene of the crime and alleged that somebody stole her car and she pursued them which made them hit my car. Both of our cars were towed away. While my car was sitting in storage while they completed their investigation it racked up charges. The claims adjuster has been nothing but a liar throughout the whole process. He works in the Malvern office. They finally went and got my car back after almost 30 days of sitting in storage. The claim adjuster then tells me that they were only going to pay for ten days of storage and the other 20 days are my responsibility. Then they call me back with an estimate and says that they are going to take 900.00 dollars out of my check. I told him that I didn't agree with that and the adjuster said if I didn't agree with that then I would have to come and get my towed car and then they wouldn't pay me for anything which I later found out isn't true.
I called the claim adjuster's supervisor to report him and he was just as rude as the claim adjuster. I even called the corporate office and he never called back. Progressive is nothing but a ripoff and their customer service is beyond the pits. After reading people's review, it good to know I am not the only person experiencing such horrible customer service. We should file a class action suit against them because they gag the people and no consequences have been put forth. I am even contacted the Better Business Bureau on them. They never send you any documents in regards to your claim. I still don't know the outcome of the investigation. I still don't know if they really paid the tow people what they said that they paid them. As far as I'm concern I don't know if that's a real number that they paid or not.

They will not give me statements of my coverage and payment history. I asked and they said no they will not do that. They said "look at your bank statements." On 10/01/2014 I was involved in an accident in my 2000 white Volkswagen Beetle with insurance. I reported the incident to Progressive Insurance claim department the same day to start the process. Within a week they had me meet an adjuster who would take pictures as part of the claims process. After a week I called to see what going on, only to be told that the other party said it was my fault. I denied that. Claimed and expected them to fight for me because I was victimized. Upon further investigation, I found out I had uninsured/underinsured motorist insurance. My agent never told me this and never called me back and my claim went unattended. The accident was proven by Progressive that I was not at fault. Now that I have brought it to their attention they are giving the runaround. Now I have a different agent who had the nerve to have an attitude because I want answers.
I have tried to speak with corporate only to be directed to another Progressive agent that gave me limited information. My policy covered this type of accident and my agent refused to assist me in using that insurance. I was mishandled, mislead, lied to and betrayed by a company I trusted. I have made all the calls with promises of call back which never happened. They are putting me off so they can find a way to not pay my claim. The Progressive agent acted in BAD FAITH and gave me useless information to get me off the phone. In the meanwhile my car when unfixed, I was injured and no one never called or pointed me in the correct direction. My car untimely suffered because the adjuster failed to take enough pictures and now they say they need another look at my car before they will offer me any compensation. They are putting me on hold again with the hopes that I will just sit back and wait on them.
I have never felt disrespected or betrayed by any type of company I trusted to have my best interest. I have been without a car ever since. I have missed out on jobs as well as family business because I was carless. To add insult to injury they want to give me the run around all while finding ways to lowball my claim. I have been duped by a multi-Billion dollar corporation. I only want what's owed to me and to be made whole again without more lies and run around tactics. This situation has caused me great anxiety and sadness to know that people would steal your money with no intention of ever helping you get better. They are pulling me from every direction and I am about to break.
I paid them so diligently that I overpaid and they never said you are overpaying. They are thieves who steal from hard working individuals like myself for their own self gain. This is a horrible way to do business and it's been done to me because I made a claim. They had hoped I'd forget and then say the statute of limitation has run out and they wouldn't be held accountable anymore. As of now that is not the case, I have a legitimate claim. They said it was proven not to be my fault, they contacted the other party with information I provided, only to lie to me. They said, "it's he say, you say and if you go ahead with this claim your insurance will go through the roof." They lied, I was eligible. They should of assisted me all along.

I got in a car accident and the other party was in the wrong but because the other party had Progressive as well as I, they lied about who were in fault so they would not have to pay the extra money for the full damages for my vehicle. I was backing out of my drive way barely moving. The other party was speeding 40 miles per hour in my neighborhood. Did not stop at the stop sign. And the speed limit is 15 miles per hour. I was the one who got hit and my car was damaged, her car was fine. The police gave her (the other party) a citation because she was at fault. And Progressive said I was 80 percent in the wrong and she was only 20 percent in the wrong. I was only given money for 20 percent of the damages, not enough to buy another car. My son bought his first car less than a year ago. It was stolen from his work in April first thing in the morning. Police report was made and Progressive Insurance was notified. Of course the way they talked to my son and I on the phone was as if they knew it all and we were supposed to be guilty for his car being stolen. The questions they asked were like, "Was the car driven out of the country?" Just because we live in New Mexico does not mean we take off to Mexico. Lots of insinuating questions which bothered me because the lady on the phone from Phoenix sounded racist to me. My son was desperate to find his car and we and his friends drove all over Albuquerque for days and nights to see if we would spot the car. Progressive was not very cooperative at all and my son had to constantly make the calls to them with no result.
Finally the thieves blew out the engine and abandoned the car. Since the car is under my son's name, naturally the cops called my son. He went and had the car towed to a shop but also immediately contacted Progressive. Three weeks have gone by since the car was found and they have not done anything. Every time my son calls them, they make him feel like it all is his fault. They are now stating that the car engine was blown out before it was stolen which just does not make sense. They don't get it that the thieves drove that car when they stole.
This experience with Progressive has been a nightmare. One of the reviews posted said that she was in an accident and it was the other person's fault and he had Progressive Insurance and they immediately fixed her car. I am sure this is how Progressive lures other to buy their insurance and once you are under their hook, then when the time comes to take car of their clients, they make excuses and try to come up with stories to not fix your car.
This is the worst insurance company ever. I do not recommend this insurance company to anyone. I understand they have to get to the bottom of the truth but without them ever trusting their clients and having faith in them, a company like this should not exist at all. This company steals money from you in the form of insurance and when it is time for them to take care of their clients - they are not available for contact, they do not have time to contact you, or they concoct their own stories and make you feel at fault. If anyone is thinking of getting any kind of insurance, please do not get Progressive because when the time comes for them to take care of you. Progressive does not make any kind of progress...they come to a standstill and watch you get frustrated.

I filed complaints with both the Ca and Tx insurance commissioners (pol. bought in Ca, accident in Tx). Both said to either get a lawyer or arbitrate with a referee. Well arbitration with progressive costs money and I can't find a lawyer that will represent on a contingency.
After exhausting both avenues with CA and Tx commissioners and making final pleas with progressive that are now actually denying that road side assistance was ever even requested, now that has really pissed me off, I found the phone record of that call and contacted the company anonymously and sure enough they do have record of me calling? I am a disabled man and had to crawl under our 5th wheel to change tires with semi screening by at 80mph, my wife in tears because she just knew I was going to get hit and Progressive just didn't give a damn.

SADLY after asking multiple times for quotes when I had this feeling he was only in it for Progressive... I was told 3 quotes... come to find out they were ALL Progressive and he told me the lowest of ways to pay for them... I accepted the lowest way I could pay it and then after getting off the phone realized that I may have just been forced into a sale without EVER hearing another quote from another company, no competition... just lying saying "these are the lowest quotes" and saying he would give me those extra quotes after giving him the info he asked for... I DID NOT get the LOWEST, I DID NOT GET ANY competition! They did not fight to have my business, they lied and continued with their agenda...
When I got off the phone realizing I may have not got the best of quotes but still got insurance (I run a company and must get something immediately) I decided to do my own research to see if they had done their job of competing for my business... they had not and I found out within a week or so I was being overcharged and had multiple other options! I call and tell them they swindled me into their insurance company and told them how they had not lived up to their end of the bargain, and I want a FULL RETURN OF THE MONEY I have handed them that I have now been proven to have given them under FALSE pretenses... turns out they won't give my money back and definitely NOT in FULL.
They also expect me to follow procedure and "law" which orders them to ask personal questions about my vehicle and registration and point being, they WON'T hand my money back without me pulling more money (that I don't have) out of my ass to BUY another policy from someone else, THEN they MUST talk to them to PROVE I have the policy before they consider giving back money THEY STOLE from ME. I don't have another insurance with that vehicle because I don't have MONEY they took from me to buy another!!
You lied to take my money and then want to follow exacts to keep my money! Give me my money back you theives and if the law wants to suspend my license because I’m without insurance. So be it!! The next renewal $22/mo increase...the next renewal was a $39/mo increase...No Accidents, No changes in our driving history, no points or anything on either license...no changes occurred at all! Part 2 of this fiasco is In January. We requested a quote asking how much it would be to add our son to our policy who was purchasing a car that day...They told us the ridiculous amount and we of course said "No thank you, he will get his own through another company." That was Jan 23rd of 2015.
In May of 2015, I received a new declaration page showing a increase for our premium with a name added to our policy, only they had his first name correct but last name was incorrect. I called to question this and Progressive informed me that because we questioned about adding him on, they ASSUMED he was a member of our household and added him to our policy. Really!!! I was then informed I needed to fill out an Exclusion form to have him removed from policy that they would send me, sign it and send back. They had name wrong for him, birthdate incorrect, but if that's who they put on our insurance then please take him off...Signed it and sent it back.
Then I was informed that we needed to correct his birthdate on the form in order to take him off. I could not understand if you put him on without having correct birthdate why can't you take him off the same way. Now I feel they are trying to screw with me...but I corrected birthdate and sent the form again. So now the there's still an increase in the next payment due and I was informed that they wanted us to pay for coverage for my son from 4/1315 to 5/13/15. Are they crazy!!! I informed them "We will not do it and that you cannot bill me for something I did not request to have done and also he had his own coverage starting from 1/23/15 to present." So now they said I can send in that proof. Just way too much.
So after being a Progressive member and going this within first 2 years, we have now CANCELLED our policy with them. PLEASE DO NOT obtain car insurance from Progressive...They said if a driver lives in your house they automatically and add them to your policy...That's BS and I'm still considering reaching out to the Insurance Commissioner about this. I was being honest - I didn't have time to look. It all happened so fast. What makes me more angry is that I myself did all of their work on my end - I took photos, emailed them to Progressive, picked up my police report with the witness' statement on it and faxed it myself. On May 9, 2015 my vehicle was involved in an accident. My vehicle was struck from behind while I was stopped at a traffic light and it was pushed into the car in front. I immediately contacted my "trusty" insurance company Progressive Direct Insurance and filed a claim over the phone (policy number is ** and my claim number is **). Here in Florida you are required to have damages to cover property in case of an accident up to 10,000. That is the law. Of course, because I was not at fault I wanted to file a claim under the other driver's policy, who has Geico Insurance. The other driver was fined for the accident. The claim adjuster for Geico has denied the claim; first they stated they needed to determine who was at fault (which is ridiculous). Then they said the damages exceeded the $10,000 limit on the policy, amazingly coming to this conclusion without looking at my car.
To make matters worse, I am getting all this information from my own claims adjuster from Progressive, who by the way 30 days later still has not seen my car either. I decided to go see someone at a local body shop, recommended by the local dealership. While at this body shop (Maitland Auto Body in Casselberry Florida,) I spoke to a gentleman named ** who refused to give me an estimate. He said to me that this was standard procedure to deny claims due to the fact that there is not enough coverage under the policy of the party at fault's policy, and that he works with both Progressive Insurance and Geico Insurance. Although he refused to give me an estimate, he was very eager to get my claim number and the name and phone number of my claim's adjuster. By the way, this same shop has a sign in the front of the building advertising Free Estimates, and another one by the front counter stating that you must pay your deductible upfront.
The bottom line is that my own insurance company, Progressive Direct Insurance (the same one with all the Flo commercials) refuses to even do an estimate on my car to determine if the damages can be covered by the party at fault's insurance company. They seem eager to work with me to get my car fixed under my policy. I wonder what will happen to my premiums if I go that route. I also wonder if they are just in agreement with Geico, and who knows how many other insurance companies to deny customer the money that they are due under the law.

The driver behind them also didn't stop causing a second collision with our car. The driver that hit them fled the scene. We reported it to Progressive Insurance in April but because their insured wouldn't call them back for six weeks we were left unattended.
Now today Progressive Insurance denied the claim because of the second car. At the three hour mark, I call and find out that the guy hasn't even left the dock yet and is refusing to.
The Coast Guard is concerned about a father and son stranded in the middle of nowhere and with nightfall coming. They ask if they can pull us off the boat, and I agree. So the Coast Guard sends a rescue helicopter and pull us off the boat. Now at this point, when you've screwed your customer so badly -- you would think they would be the top priority the very next day. Nope. It took a full five days before their guy shows up. Everyday for the five days I called, texted and let them know the pump would only hold out as long as the battery held out which is about 48 hours. The boat was filling with water with each wave to hit the side of the boat. The wave action was working the keel into the mud. So by five days later, when the guy shows up he says, "It isn't covered because it is a hard grounding and not a soft one," meaning the job has become a "salvage" and not a tow.
As soon as I get my boat back, I am cancelling Progressive and finding another company. I am sad that they got any money from me at all. Their delays caused a small problem to become a very large one and then they said in essence that you are not covered for the larger problem -- just the small one. They will never be able to explain the five-day delay in getting my property back, and if they made a mistake, they could have covered the extra problem. It probably would not have cost a penny extra, but they cling to technicalities, even if their lackadaisical response created the technicality that they now hide behind.

Last June I had to send in proof of address, and did so with the office I deal with - The Erny Insurance. The agent was on the phone with Progressive and we got everything faxed and I was told everything was good. I got renewed and then renewed again in December. Now this June - same thing again - Progressive says they never got the proof of address document(s). How do I still have insurance, you idiots then? Why do I have to go through this again?

My husband, prior to his passing, purchased Progressive Auto Insurance after being in an accident and discovering he did not have SR22. Progressive assigned him a fictitious VIN Number and Vehicle. I had the names of representatives ** (knowingly sold the policy) and ** (spoke to me after my husband's passing until I unraveled new findings). I reported them to the BBB and Progressive refused to speak with me after I accused them of illegal business practices and unethical behavior. Progressive insisted via the BBB they would not speak to me because I had no will, proof I am the spouse. I was dismayed because my death certificate indicating I am the surviving spouse did not meet their requirements. Also, ** spoke to me after my husband's death until I inquired of their mishandling of this policy. I feel this is a form of socioeconomic discrimination. I am penalized because I did have a will?
Furthermore, Progressive sent written correspondence that the vehicle was not registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles but yet continued collecting funds from my husband. In essence approximately $2,000 worth of coverage was purchased prior to my husband's demise illegally. On the monthly statement are two names - Insurance Loft and Progressive. This is even more puzzling but checks are sent to Progressive so I hold them to be accountable. However, I am sure each company will blame the other. And the infamous iconic Flo character continues to advertise "sprinkles are for winners". They are not "winners" in my book. I am going to continue until I am heard and reimbursed. Next, I will write my local news stations and file a complaint with the state attorney.

My daughter was rear-ended on the Ventura highway in California. The other driver was insured with Progressive, so we filed a claim with them. Everything was going great. She dropped the car off at a Progressive repair center and was given a rental. Then it went south from there. The amount of the damages was more than the other driver was covered for by about $500 to $1000. Progressive stopped the repairs and said they weren't going to do them. The Progressive client told Progressive he'd cover the difference, but they still denied.
Now I have to go though my insurance company (State Farm) to get these repairs done. I will have to take this driver to court to recoup the money for these repairs. Progressive even admitted on the phone that they add buffers into their estimates, which in this case took it over the maximum coverage. So in short, you better not get hit by someone with Progressive Insurance because they might not have sufficient coverage to repair the vehicles they hit.

I was involved in an accident in October of last year and progressive dropped me after 3 years of paying them at least $250-$300 a month regularly for car insurance. They are stating that #1 they could not verify my address and needed to know where the vehicles are being parked. #2 that since they don't have that information (all of a sudden) that they cannot renew our policy, even though they have done it on their own three to four times before. I just expected them to be there when I needed them most. I thought the reason you paid insurance was to have coverage in case of an accident. Call me crazy.

While they were making repairs to my whip they gave me a nice, uppity rental and the entire process was over in a jiffy. The car came back clean as a whistle inside and out and they even repaired my broken mirror free-er than Nelson Mandela. In addition, they fitted me with a gift card to the nearest petroleum station to replenish the juices they had used when transporting my vehicle to the shop. Overall I was very impressed. Progressive has to be the worst company that I have ever dealt with. They are not my insurance provider and they never will be after my current claim. I was rear-ended in my Toyota Tundra by a gentleman in a Toyota Yaris. His car was totaled without doubt. My truck had a smashed bumper, folded rear quarter panel, damage to the hitch, tailgate and bed. Nothing major and all primarily focused on the rear passenger side.
After 10 days of constantly calling Progressive and leaving messages and not knowing whether my truck was truly drivable or not (because they would not inspect it), I finally heard back from them. At that point I had left the local agent 9 voicemails, filed 5 complaints with their corporate office and sought council. The agent stated that the only reason they called me was because of my complaints. I explained that I didn't want to use my insurance company for fear of them possibly raising the rates even though it wasn't my fault. Once things began to get worked out, they demanded (not recommended) that I take my truck to the shop that they wanted because they prefer doing business with them. This is illegal in the state of California (if not everywhere).
After doing some research of local shops (because I am not from California and don't know the area well) I decided to try out their recommended shop. Progressive said that they set up a rental car for me through Enterprise and they would meet me at the shop. I arrived at the shop the following day only to learn that they had no idea that I was coming. I spent hours at the shop waiting on them to work things out with Progressive so that I could leave. On top of it, Enterprise had no idea I needed a car and was not ready to pick me up either.
It has been almost 2 weeks now since they started on my truck. I have gotten no updates (I requested daily updates and progress checks) and no time of when it should be ready. Again I have left countless voicemails for the agent and shop, and still no reply. Part of me wishes that I would have just claimed this all on my own policy so that it would have been handled better. At this point, a little extra cost is worth it.

Not the company you want if your car is totaled. What a shock to find out they don't use the NADA of Kelly Blue Book like reputable companies like State Farm use. Instead, they pay some company called Marshall's to use J.D. Powers to appraise your car. And then they electronically find some used cars for sale in your area and use those as a comparison, regardless of whether they meet the condition standards of your car. In our case, an immaculate, perfectly-maintained car was compared against 1 good car and a few real dogs, with no extra consideration even for ours having several brand new items (new brakes & tires in the past month).
If you like getting low-balled by a thousand dollars or more, Progressive is your company. And talking to them, at least the people I talked to, was pathetic. One adjuster actually told me that because I'm older and retired, things have changed a lot since I was in the swing of things. Flo, your company is not what you claim it is!

Upon leaving Michigan to be stationed in Connecticut, I had to get a new insurance policy and decided to acquire Progressive. I told them I still had a Michigan driver's license and my car was still registered to Michigan but I would be living and driving in CT. They said no problem, I would just have to be under a CT policy. Sweet.
A few months later I got a letter in the mail (at my CT residence) saying they were canceling my policy because I was living in Michigan but under a CT policy. WTF... I quickly called them and told them "I'm in the Navy, I'm stationed in CT, there's no active submarines in Michigan bla bla bla." They said "Sorry for the inconvenience." and they canceled canceling my policy. Yay...
A few months later I tell them "Hey, I'm going on a 6 month deployment. Can I change my policy to just stowage, I'll be leaving it in CT?" "Sure," they say. Excellent. In the middle of deployment we pull into Scotland where I check my email (no Internet access on submarines at sea) where I see a notification of cancellation saying I need to provide them with a CT address even though at the top of the email it has my name with my CT address. Upon returning home I see the letter in the mail... In CT... saying my policy has been canceled and is not renewable.
Besides horrible professionalism and bad customer service, let's talk common sense. Why would I lie about living in CT? Everything is more expensive in CT including car insurance. I should of just lied and said I was driving in MI still and it would of been cheaper and probably would still have insurance. Anyone think it's possible to sue these scammers?

Involved in a minor accident on May 4, 2015 in my CHEVROLET Silverado. Immediately contacted Progressive (customer for 15 years). Initiated claim process. I was contacted the following day and was told I had to take my vehicle to one of their preferred repair shops. Closest one was 19.8 miles away. This is a major metropolitan area! Took vehicle to a FORD body shop as instructed. Quote was using re-manufactured part, reusing one damaged part with negotiated reduced labor rates. Was also told there may need to be adjustments to the quote for hidden damage. When I asked Progressive (via email) how a chrome bumper could be re-manufactured, I received no response. I never told the representative I did not want to have the vehicle repaired.
Approximately four days later I received a check for the repairs minus my deductible. On May 25th, I received an email asking me to complete a customer satisfaction survey. I completed the survey. I received a call from a "manager" on May 26th. During the conversation, I was told I did not have to take my vehicle to the FORD shop, that I had other options. When I asked why these options were not explained, I was told the Progressive will not "list ten options" and let you choose one. I was not treated with respect by this "manager". He routinely spoke over me as I tried to talk.
He continually apologized for MY displeasure, yet never offered any resolution other than the "new" option of taking my vehicle to a body shop of my choice, but only with their adjuster present for the quote. I explained I had already gotten a quote and the quote they provided "didn't add up" when compared. Parts prices were inflated in the Progressive quote. I purchased a NEW replacement bumper for $100 less than the Progressive quote out of my pocket before the token settlement check was received.
Bottom Line - Progressive is not a company that I would recommend. I will have the vehicle repaired, document the repairs and transfer this vehicle to another company I already have vehicles insured with. All insurance companies are difficult. But once I am dissatisfied, I will no longer give them my business.

I have full coverage with Progressive and never have had any accidents. And I was driving home during a storm. Hit a pothole. Messed my car. I called in the claim. The rep gave me a rental car and said someone would be out to look at it tom. They never came out so I called back three days later and asked her why no one came. She said they had to investigate my claim since my policy was newer. I said fine. Gave them all my info witnesses numbers. She also told me she wasn't supposed to tell me any of this but that's why it took three days because they were already investigating my claim. Also I'd have to return the rental. I still said ok. Went along with everything.
Now they finally send someone out to look at my car. And he tells me that because the bottom of my car has rust that they aren't going to cover it. Because it could have happened eventually because of the rust even though he sees that it was caused by the pothole and even says it's not my fault. I explain that I bought the car about two months ago. Never had a problem with it plus it's inspected. If it passed inspection and is legal to drive on the road and I by law have to have insurance how can they not cover it? Because he thinks it could have happened later so I call back the investigator and all how I fight the claim. He tells me I can't. What they have decided stays.
So after about an half hour of rudeness I tell him "I'll be seeking legal help." He says "that's fine. I'm still going to be investigating though your claim being new on a policy." I tell him "the only reason it's new is because I just got the car." But I tell him "it's fine. I had nothing to hide." Soo day's the day I find out he charged me for the rental car they agreed to pay for even though I wasn't found at fault for anything. How is this right?

I needed to move my Progressive installment pay date, but unlike most major carriers, Progressive doesn't offer installment date choices in California. I was forced to move to an insurance company that would.
It cost me $50 in cancellation fee to change insurance companies. Progressive refused to prorate actual premium coverage costs. If you're considering Progressive and need to pay your premium in installments, make sure that your payment date is something that you can live with because they will not allow changes and moving to another insurance company before the policy term ends will cost you a $50 cancellation fee. A week later, I was informed by Progressive that they have not been able to contact their client and need to reach her to get her side of the story.
Three months later, after many calls and many complaints with the agent and his superiors, I was told by Progressive that due to their inability to reach their client by mail, phone, or "social media", they are cancelling her claim and in effect would render my claim default and I get no compensation. The program itself isn't bad but the penalty for hard braking is ridiculous. 7 MPH/SECOND is ridiculous to stay above. You basically have to coast, you can barely hit your brakes. The only way to avoid hard braking is to run yellow lights and stop signs, or driving below 25 mph.
I am really disgusted with this device. Every time the radio beeps I assume it is the device chastising me. Although we don't yet have chickens, we were told we would need to "remove the chicken coop as it presented a risk that we may be tempted to have chickens." Upon tear down of my vehicle the tech noticed that the halo cover had a pinhole in it and was assumed that the problem was my fault and the adjuster called me and wanted to tell me that he wouldn't take care of the headlight upon noticing this.
However, how is it possible for these lights to work with no moisture problems and no issues for four months and then literally the day I hit something it starts leaking but that all must be my fault. I was so frustrated I wasn't thinking. I should have come up to the shop and looked myself being a tech myself and verified the quote on quote issue. But regardless I told the shop to put the car back together and I would pick it up. When I went to pick the car up I asked for an estimate, there was none. I then started my car and the headlight that was lighting up when I took the car there was not working and underneath the splash guard for the headlight was missing and the headlight cover was broken and floating around in there.
I was so very frustrated that I left and called claims and reported all that had happened. I was told this would be resolved and I would get a phone call in 24hrs. It has been a week now still no phone call. I am not asking for a million dollars and am not trying to get something for nothing. I am trying to go about the insurance claim the right way but I can't get any help. The fact of the matter is I got in an accident and the car needs to be fixed on progressive’s wallet not mine. I didn't purposely hit a snowbank and didn't want to buy a headlight for no reason.

This is an official complaint about how Progressive Insurance rips their customers off. I had an accident on January 25th 2015 in my vehicle and Progressive Insurance decided to investigate the claim. Fair Enough. They then asked me to make two recorded interviews and send forensic "yes - forensic investigators" and a Nissan specialist to look over the car. Once reports came back that the brakes were worn more than they should, they simply denied the claim.
The vehicle was serviced on regular basis and I have a report from qualified mechanic stating that brakes were still serviceable. The car overall was in good condition - according to forensic investigators. I have never been involved in a total write off collision. After reviewing my records and phone bills they saw that I am a law abiding citizen and not a fraud.
So Progressive insurance I will now demand all my money back for all the years you have been insuring me for and seek legal representation in court. I will also get the message out there to The Financial Ombudsman (already lodged a claim with them) And advise as many people not to use your services as you are simply doing what some "Mafia" would do. Take the money when it suits and deny to pay when it doesn't. You're a SCAM and I hope millions of people read this.

In 2013 I removed my now ex-husband from my policy as he had left me. I had no problem doing so and he was not on my policy for 6 months. He called in to Progressive and they just placed him back on the policy without my permission or knowledge. Not even a few months later he put his son on the policy. His son is not blood related to me. They had an accident. I was not notified and Progressive claimed to have talked to me. Anytime I call and want to make changes or remove my husband from the policy they say they can't. I am the primary holder... he doesn't even drive his own car.
Then our divorce was finalized in beginning of February this year and he called a month later to Progressive and had my last name changed on the policy back to my maiden name. Even though I still haven't been able to officially change my name back. Progressive just took his word and changed it, again without notifying me or without my knowledge. That is aiding in committing a crime because if my insurance and my driver's license don't match I am screwed if something would happen.

I came in from out of town, she called to add me and these jerks told her it was going up another 47 dollars!!! It's price gouging, and it should be illegal. The absolute worst! I was in a car accident. The car was drivable. I was told I had to bring my car to one of their auto body shops to get an estimate of damage and I had the option of getting the work done at one of their shops or go elsewhere. A the estimate and a check was cut for USED PARTS! Not to mention they increased my policy monthly payments by 50.00 and had absolutely no explanation why! So I had to increase my deductible from 0- 1,000. I was able to get my car repaired.
During the repair I rented a car from enterprise. According to my policy it reads $40 a day for 30 days up to $1,200. While at enterprise I was offered a Rav-4 with a 6.00 difference. I said why not?! IM COVERED UP $1,200. Lo and behold my $350 deposit from enterprise was NOT refunded. Progressive only covered up to $600. When my policy reads up to $1,200! By far the worse! This company does things with evil intent. In 2010 I got hurt badly, the guy had no insurance. We notified progressive on time. We had to go to court against the tortfeasor. I won a judgement against the tortfeasor. We gave them proof that the tortfeasor had no insurance which triggered my UM/UIM. All this time no investigation, no depositions. The driver whose car I was into did not have insurance, but her insurance said that at the time of accident she was covered so they tendered their share, and progressive told us that they could not pay until Dairyland paid their share. Right after we got that settlement we presented progressive with that and the judgement against the tortfeasor. At this point i received a lot of treatment for my shoulder, i was told that i would need a replacement right away. I was 38 years old.
We try to negotiate with them but they refused. Their adjusters never showed up to meetings that agreed to. At some point they sent an investigator to the woman whose insurance paid a portion of my UM/UIM. Even that investigator questioned their motives, because if dairyland paid why was he there to investigate something that was already settled. In Connecticut the law says that you cannot file anything against your own insurance until you are done with all other companies and that there are no other insurances out there. The point is progressive told us to deal with the other company first and then they would pay their part. That was the worst decision, believing these crooks.
One of the adjusters called and told me that they will pay me if i get rid of my attorney, so I did. Two days later i received a letter stating that the statute of limitations had expired, therefore they were not responsible for anything and that if i have a problem i would need to call insurance commissioner and their department. So i rehire my attorney, then he filed the lawsuit. Since the lawsuit was filed they are using everything in order to stall. As usual they hire this law firm Deluca to fight us every step of the way. When i am suffering, my shoulder is no good. I am still in a lot of pain. I will have to go back and redo this replacement. I can't even buy my daughter lunch at school. I can't reach for a coffee at dunkin donuts. There are a lot of things that have change in my life because of this company. They are doing it on purpose. Even their own representative ** thought this was wrong.
This is a breach of contract and they have been doing it to a lot of people. In the process families are being destroyed. They have destroyed me in so many ways. Now in their last motion they are saying that i was not covered and they compare me to a dog, but i was less valuable than the dog because they said that they would pay a thousand dollars for the dog. This is not right nor fair so I am asking for help. They love to take my money, plus they had to reimburse me for so many months because after the car was gone, they were still charging me. It was a fight to get some of that money back. Now i am hurt and i had coverage but i have to suffer. I can't pay my copays. I have to pick and choose which medicine is more appropriate, all this is cause by progressive insurance.
Updated on 09/15/2015:
Today is one day that I will never forget. Well, back in April I wrote a story about Progressive Insurance breach of contract. I took the advice of my attorney and agreed to sit into a mediation. This is one of those things that you are out of words. Bottom line is that Progressive Insurance is playing a game with my life and my future. They came there to save face and to learn things about the case in order to screw me. First we were never introduced, I was told to sit in a room for a few hours. My attorney disappeared for a while and then he came back with the mediator. I heard one thing today, whatever they offer me would be the only offer. Well people lets see, I have a 100/300 policy, I have a shoulder replacement plus about $125000 in medical bills and the offer was low. After five years of suffering, this company is still using tactics that are considered bad faith and there was no explanation for their offer.
They throw everything at me, special defenses, motion to strike and the last one is a motion for summary judgement claiming that there is a statute of limitations. Well let's see, they got a letter for arbitration, they got the information on the other insurance, they never investigate, they refused to answer discoveries and interrogatories, they never had a deposition in the case, really, all was done step by step and on time. The last thing the adjuster did was that she asked settle the case with me so I tried that, then that same investigator wrote me a letter stating that we can't settle this case because of the statute of limitations. My attorney had meetings with her and she did not show up.
Well today I was told about everything that is wrong with my case and that the middle man was trying to put some money in my pocket. They are refusing to pay the claim, they failed to deny my claim within the reasonable time and they start using the words barred by the statute of limitations. They have done so many things in order to hurt my case. Their adjuster told me to fire my attorney then the case would be settled, she turned around and wrote a letter stating that they had no obligations to pay because of time.
The motion for summary judgement is pending, suddenly they wanted to try mediation. This was a way to put a hold on the case and to find out if I was serious about moving the case forward. I have been dealing with this stress for a long time, every time I hear something about this case I get so stressed out, the anxiety it brings is hurting me, my family and friends, I have to suffer because of PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE.
Today I noticed everyone I saw did not have much to say because, they know what happened, my face says it all. I don't have the strength to participate in any sports activities, I can't even make a layup with my left hand, I love volleyball and I was great at it, sometimes I want to set the ball but I can't. I can't have fun with my kids, I promised my daughter that I would teach her how to play volleyball, since I was great at it. I can't do that now, the limitations I have with this new shoulder has a lot to do with this and it's painful.
People this is no joke, dealing with these issues is serious, at times you feel that no one is listening and care. Progressive refused to make an offer, this could have been over a long time ago. This is five years and there was a time that a settlement was reachable. They chose to fight me instead, they lowball me, they are using every dirty tricks in the book and once I am defeated, I will take whatever they throw at me.
This could be you, remember that. We pay insurances to have our backs. Why they are getting richer by the minute and the more coverage they deny, it's billions of dollars in profit. People, remember it is mandatory that we carry insurance, so it should be the same way with Progressive and all other insurance companies. Tonight, I will be thinking about this and not knowing what they will do, scares me a lot. I am in pain and the cold is not friendly. Progressive: it's time you do the right thing. This is why people should get familiar with their civic duties because only in a courtroom you will get a chance to right the wrong and apply the law. Thank you very much.

I was asking the Diminish Value Claim for my car which they were telling they are telling Progressive can't give any money of it since 2-3 reasons as below: "Your car has no diminished value as of today." How can Progressive tell that there is no money loss for my car? It had an accident which I am not at fault. Definitely there will be money loss. “It had accident before.” I am 100% sure that there was no accident and I said I will show proof (Carfax, Autocheck) that there were no accidents. I reported a claim on January 27, 2015. I went to the store and parked my van in the parking lot, when I came out of the store my car was damaged - there was damage to the front bumper, the windshield, and the passenger door, so I reported the claim. I dropped my van off at the shop so the insurance adjuster could look at it. When he called me back he told me that there was no way the damage was done at the same time because of where the damage was done on the van. I told him that there was no damage prior to me going in the store, he said well there's no way he could cover it under one claim. I needed to report two more claims - one for each damage on the van.
I told him it did happen at the same time and there was no way I was making another claim. He said, "Well I don't know what to tell you but I am not covering this under one claim." So they forced me to make a second claim that was the only way to get my van fixed. They have been treating me like crap, I even talked with his supervisor and he said the same thing.
