I have been a customer of Progressive, through the Wills Point agency, since 2002 and have a 3-year accident and violation free status. Yet, they consistently increase my premiums and monthly fees due to credit rating and failure to agree to payments made via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT). I believe that this insurer is discriminating against me due to race (I am hispanic) and gender (female).

My cost has increased, not decreased, in spite of my perfect driving history and living in a very rural community with no traffic congestion.

Our car was hit by a lady who is insured by Progressive insurance. The lady admitted to my wife and the police that it was her fault and indicated how sorry she was for causing the accident. The police issued a traffic accident report and cited the driver of the other vehicle for hitting my wife and failing to yield. Our small Buick Skylark car incurred front end damage and from the impact of the other driver's car hitting our car in the front end, it twisted the front end of our car and forced our car into a garage along the alley.

Matt, a claims investigator for Progressive Insurance called and wanted to make settlement for 80% of the value. He claimed that it was his belief that my wife was going 5 miles over the 15 mile an hour speed limit and that his company would only pay 80% of all costs and losses associated with the accident. Neither the police officer, nor my wife believed that she was speeding, but Progressive stuck to their story and refused to secure the police report.

Matt, from Progressive, said that they did their own investigation. We attempted to reason with Matt and said that the other driver had to have a good amount of speed to twist and bend our front end and frame in the direction in which the other driver was going. We also spoke of the force of her vehicle that forced our car off of the ally and into a garage. I also said that my wife experienced neck pain and soreness from the impact of being side swiped, but Matt simply restated his position. Matt was unwilling to acknowledge the type of damage to our front end and consider this as evidence. He continued to state that it was his position that my wife was speeding and did not need to consider the police report saying that the police don't always know what to look for when they investigate an accident.

I offered to split the difference between the value of our car and their offer, which would have amounted to approximately $180, but he refused to compromise. I explained how unfair I felt this was, but Matt said, Well, I could have determined that you should receive only 50% reimbursement for the loss of your car. He indicated that we should be happy to get 80%.

In the end, I told Matt that I could not believe his company's position, but conceeded that I was not going to fight it in court. I said that he probably knew that and consequently, chose to offer us a partial settlement. I also told him that he would have to live with his conscience for being dishonest in his dealings. He continued to repeat the same position he had already stated four other times and I summarized to him my position and once again, that his company was being unethical. This phone call took place on July 10, 2008 and began at 3:01 p.m.

I have commerical auto insurance for a 2002 Kenworth T2000 and it was stolen 5-19-08 and recovered 06-04-08. The vehical had no fuel, CB & Radio missing, and the tires were removed and replaced with used tires all different brands. The adjuster had the tractor towed from the impond yard to a kenworth dealership nearby but never had them look at it. I asumed they were working on it but when I called they said they never look at the vehical it was just parked there. He then told me they were not paying the claim as the only damage was the missing radio and that I can go pickup the vehical.

My truck tires were missing that I just purchased in febuary 08, batteries had been changed out purchased in january 08, driver door was damaged, and many parts were missing that i found out later. When I went to pickup the truck it did not run and I had kenworth take a look at it. The bill was $350.00 and the batteries were all dead, and the A/C condenser had a hole punched in it. I spent aaand additional $450 for batteries, $600.00 getting the A/C repaired.

I decided the trucking business was not for me after that experience so I sold the truck for a loss 06-30-08. All together with repairs insurance fee paided will gone and loss of work I lost about $10,318.00 I had to sell it as I could not affor to put new tires and down payment for insurance to keep it working since insurance covered nothing.

I am still dealing with Progressive. Never buy their insurance. My car was hit by a guy who had progressive insurance. I went through months of bad pain and fear that the pain would never end. Progressive admits it was their client's fault. However, they are refusing to even cover all of my doctor/physical therapy bills, much less acknowledge all the fear and the job opportunity I lost.

When my orthopedist recommended an MRI, the agent told me that if I had one, they would never pay for it. I had a lawyer/friend of mine call them, and he called me back and said they were rude and unfriendly, even as insurance agents go. They told him I had purposely run to a lot of doctors. I definitely did not do that. Even though my Orthopedist validates my injury, they are trying to intimidate and harrass me by saying it was too minor of an accident to cause this much pain. They are the worst.

In auto accident 12/20/04. Had just purchased the car 3 days before. Progressive was my insurer. My rep. Natalie, said my car was totaled and said based on the Red Book, which is where they find their Book Value, I was entitled to only 1/2 of what I had just paid for the car 3 days prior. Well, this just didn't sit well with me & I did some research on my own. I realized there are many other criteria to determining the book value than her Red Book. After doing much research, I told her that I wanted full reimbursement for the replacement cost of the vehicle. She argued & lied, saying that the way she quoted me was the only legal way NYS Insurers are allowed to settle the claims.

I immediately wrote to Progressive & the NYS Superintendent of Insurance & the NYS Attorney Generals office. In the letter, I documented every conversation we had (including times & dates), sent copies of emails and stated that based on my research, Natalie had lied to me. Funny how suddenly, a week later, I received a call from Natalie with an apology & she told me I was going to be reimbursed for the exact replacement cost of the car.

NEVER TAKE A CLAIMS ADJUSTER AT THEIR WORD! Always double check what they tell you. Check your particular states laws regarding auto insurance claims. Keep a detailed log of telephone calls/emails between you & them, including times & dates.

There was a fraudulent claim filed agaisnt me with Progressive Insurance for an Auto Accident. An agent by the name of Kelly G called me accusing me of hitting her client. I told her the claim with false and I have proof and witnesses. My car was not damaged and I had a list of people that were there and could vouch that I did not hit anyones car.

She called me a liar to my face, told me I was dumb, and I will have to pay. She slammed the phone in my face, and then continued to call me back harassing me. She never called any of my witness or checked out my story. I feel distraught over the way she treated me over the phone, and very surprised that Progressive Insurance Co. allow there Agents to behave so unprofessionally, rude, and abusive.

This agent has severly stressed me out. She is trying to force me to pay for an accident I did not cause and had no involvement in. She is still harassing me, and is causing me emotional distress.

They now charge 3.00 to mail a paper invoice, along with a premium fee of 0.97. This can be avoided if you: 1-Pay in full 2-Electronically provide them with your bank account info. I requested NOT to receive the monthly invoice, since it's a service; the semi-annual invoice is sufficient. I was told that's not possible. Is this legal? Those who don't have a computer, nor wish to give out their bank account info are discriminated against.

On or about April 16 Th I attended the Ft. Worth Zoo with the class of my special needs daughter. I parked legally in the designated area. The car next to me pulled in at the same time. A brand new Chevy Avalanche. Several hours later I retuned to my car to find fire damage from the car next to me that has spontaneously caught fire. The owner is insured by Progressive Insurance. When I contact His claims agent Allison M, she smirks and states that what happened was an Act of God" and that they were not responsible for paying the damage caused to my car. After seeing that she was obviously insane. I asked to speak with her supervisor Mark H. He was a bit more sympathetic however he was just blowing smoke in order for me to get off the line and not bother them again.

I am being harrassed via telephone by the above debt collection agency. They call me constantly, aproximatly 6-8X's per day, leave approximately 4-5 messages a day in 15-20 minute increments. The debt that they are trying to collect has been paid, however the documents are not available to me, and I have explained this on numerous occassions to no avail.

On one occasion, around March/April 2008, Mr. Rock, who says he is a supervisor, "interrogated" me about: Where am I living, how am I paying my bills, am I receiving gov't assistance, am I receiving disability, and how am I surviving after I disclosed that I was unemployed. He then proceeded to state that "gov't assistance isn't subject to garnishment anyway." I proceeded to tell him that information is irrelevant as well as, personal, he then hung up on me. Ironically, after this conversation, is when the harassment began.

I have also spoken to a representative by the name of Kristine, who has been extremly hostile, argumentative, unprofessional, and downright disrespectful towards me. She does not let me a word in at all, once I advise her that there has been no change in my circumstance. After advising her that I was going to file a complaint, she stated "I don't care what complaint you file,or how many you file, we will continue to call you until this debt is cleared". She also has stated " I don't know what is so hard about you getting the documents to clear this up, if I were you I would just go get them, don't you think that makes sense Ms. M."

I am starting to feel that Mr. Rock has taken a personal interest in my account since my conversation with him, and has his representatives calling me constantly. This agency is clogging my voicemail, as I have kept the messages in case I need them. I am missing important calls because they are calling from an "unknown" number, and I am not answering any unknown callers. They are disrupting me at work with the constant calls. I am getting very edgy everytime my phone rings. Please help me!

I was in a car accident on January 5, 2007 (It is now May 19, 2008) on a a freeway. The accident involved 3 vehicles: a woman who lost control in front of me, my own car and the car who hit me from behind. The damage to the front of my car was minimal, whereas the rear end damage was extensive. The car behind me went up & under me and pushed my rear axle 2 feet forward, it even ripped open my gas tank. I was insured by Progressive, and had my boyfriend call in the claim as I was almost immediatley strapped to a back board and taken to the hospital.

My boyfriend called a tow-truck company which he is familiar with and had it towed to an autobody shop he has used for years. A progressive agent, Jodi, called me after the hospital had released me. When i told her where we wanted the car taken to she said that it wasn't a preferred shop, but I didn't know any other body shops so I trusted that my boyfriend would know better than I. It took almost 2 weeks for Jodi to look at my car and have it towed to the shop. Then she didn't take pictures of it until after it was taken apart.

Once it was at the shop she took 2 more weeks to decide if it was going to be fixed or totaled (or so I thought.) Everytime I talked to her she seemed to be getting frustrated with her job or responsibilites, finally becoming rude to me when I asked her to decide what the damage was by a specific date. My car, a 2004 Jeep Liberty with a uni-body frame, was placed on a frame pulling machine for over 6 hours. The rear suspension was replaced with a used one, and all the electrical components from the wrecked suspension were put in the new one.

The windsheild washer resevoir was crushed and replaced, but they didn't replace the motor that squirts it up - so I ended up replacing that myself months later. They refused at the time to pay for an alignment so I paid for one myself. The glass on the back hatch takes 2 or 3 slams to close it My Jeep still shakes and shimmieys when I drive over 50 mph.

Last June I was driving to Yakima, WA (a 3 1/2 hour drive) and my cruise control and speedometer went out. I had to miss a meeting in order to get it looked at by a dealership. The diagnostic computer said that the rear sensor had an open ciruit thus needing to be replaced (the tech implied that the sensor had fallen out.) When I called Progressive about this, they said I had to take it up with the shop - as it was not a guaranteed place. The shop said they've done all the work that was paid for and wouldn't look at it any further. I was so frustrated that I started crying and screaming at him then I called Jodi at Progressive and she basically washed her hands of the whole situation and each time I've had to talk to her since then she has been down right rude, so much so that I refuse to talk to her and only deal with her supervisor. I purchased the sensor replacement and my boyfriend put it in as well as replaced the wiper fluid pump.

A month later, July 2007, I was driving down the street and my Jeep stalled (like I let out of the clutch or ran out of gas -its an automatic) I restarted it, drove a few feet and it stalled again. This happened several times. I parked it and had my friend pick me up. I called Jodi and she couldn't help me until I took the car in to a mechanic and then submitted the bill. Then Progressive would decide if the damage had anything to do with the wreck or not. I had the car looked at and there was nothing wrong with it... since then it has refused to start at times, lost power steering then regained it, and stalled again. Just last Saturday (OVER 16 months after my acident) the speedometer & cruise control went out again.

This vehicle scares me. I have no choice but to drive it - I have 3 kids to support. I've tried to sell it but can't get more than a few thousand fo it, I face the same situation if I try to trade it in. I bought this car on Jan 1, 2005 and had NO PROBLEMS with it before the accident. I would like to sue Progressive for the cost of a replacement but I have no idea if I had a good case or not. I'm just irritated that the insurance company I've had for 4 years treated me like a nobody - and they are fine with me driving my 3 kids around in a totally unpredictable and unreliable car.

I had a no fault accident where Progressive was the other guy's insurer. All we did was fight over the claim. Finally, I told Progressive I will pay to have the car repaired. I did. Further, that I would file suit against Progressive. I did. Not only for repair of the damage, but also for punitive damages for unfair claim settlement. My suggestion is if you have problems with Progressive file a complaint with the insurance department and give Progressive's reply to that complaint to an attorney. From that point on, don't handle it by yourself. An attorney knows how to fully protect your rights. Who knows, you might become the lead plaintiff in a class action suit. It will probably take another couple of years for my complaint to wind its way through the court system - But, I am patient.

We had auto insurance through Progressive on our car starting in Nov 2007. We were paying the monthly payments on the rates as quoted when we started the policy. In February , we get a notice that Progressive is INCREASING our rate signoficantly. Neither my wife, nor me had any points on our license, no accidents, nothing. We called around found a much better RATE and cancelled our policy. Progressive recalculated our policy after cancellation, at an even HIGHER rate, and are now attempting to charge us for the remainder of our policy. They claim that we breached our contract by terminating the policy early. They are the ones in breach for raising our rates with for no reason.

I have refused to PAY their fee, $265 for the month of March 08. And they now have their collection hounds calling daily. We have told the collection agency that we dispute the validity and asked them to tell progressive to PLEASE take us to court. If a judge see's their actions as fair and reasonable, then sure I will willignly pay.

On February 23 I purchased a used 2007 Saturn Ion for $10,000 from a local dealership. Exactly 14 days later I was involved in a four-car accident. My car was squished in the middle and suffered extensive front end and back end damage. I even had a Nissan Altima wedged underneath my vehicle. Being an insurance agent for over 8 years, the first thing I did was call the claims hotline. I spent 20 minutes on the phone before the woman told me that her system went down, and I would have to call back Monday morning and submit my claim again. I had to take Monday off of work and deal with resubmitting my claim, waiting for the adjuster to call me, and dealing with setting up my rental car.

It takes Progressive 5 days from the date of my accident to remove my car from the tow yard and to their own service center. I finally get the estimate that the damages are over $6,200. It will take them one month to have the repairs finished. I complain that due to the extensive damages, the vehicle should be totaled. My claims adjuster tells me that they will only total the vehicle if the damages are $12,000 or more. I know from experience that insurance is supposed to restore you to whole, not better. Why is it that they will only total my vehicle for $12,000 - when I didn't even pay that much for the car to begin with? That isn't even logical. That's like having your $200,000 home burn to the ground, and your insurance company telling you that damages have to be $250,000 before they will rebuild your house!

I called the claims complaint number, stating that I have written documentation from two separate dealerships, and documentation from NADA and Kelly Blue Book, that the value of the car is in the range where they should total the vehicle instead of repair it. The woman I am speaking to patches me through to another woman who is extremely rude. She starts trying to run circles around me and misrepresent the information that is clearly listed in my policy. I believe she intentionally did this to try and confuse me, not knowing that I am an insurance agent, and know that everything she is saying is lies. I get so mad that I hang up.

At this point I am still arguing with Progressive about the car. I believe I'm on the losing end of this battle, and it makes me furious. In 8 years of selling and servicing Progressive auto policies to clients, I have never been treated so poorly - neither as an agent or a customer. I am absolutely furious that they are giving me the run-around on a policy that I wrote myself. Long story short - I will NEVER sell another Progressive auto policy again. Not only have they lost my own personal business, but they have also lost the business of any client that ever walks through my office doors.

They are keeping the car in the shop for 30+ days, which will result in an out-of-pocket expense for me. I will also have to pay my $500 deductible in the same week that I make my first car payment. I'll be stuck with this car for the next 5 years that will NEVER be the same, and I will never get good re-sale/trade in value for it as a result of an accident that caused so much damage.

On February 25, 2008, I was driving my car home from a shopping trip. I was stopped at a 4-way intersection with stoplights. I was in the right-turn only lane. A truck from Hot Shot Delivery, located in Evansville, IN, was next to me in the straight lane. I was stopped at the intersection, and waiting for the light to turn green so I could make a right turn. All of a sudden the truck next to me plowed into my driver's side door. He backed up after he hit me, and we pulled into an empty parking lot. The man came out of his truck and admitted fault of the accident and said I was in his blind spot. I asked him why he was in the straight lane and attempted to make a right-hand turn, and he answered, he didn't know. I took out my cell phone to call the police, and he instantly started to try to convince me not to call the police. He said that he was from out of town, and he would give me all of his information. I finally consented, and thought since he admitted his fault, and gave me a paper with his insurance company (Progressive), his policy number, his agent's name, the number of his company's office, and his boss' name and phone number, that I could file my claim with no trouble.

I have multiple dents and scratches on my driver's side door, and rear fender. He had no damage to his truck. After leaving the parking lot, I went straight to my insurance company (State Farm) and filed a claim against him. It took Progressive about two days to call me. When they finally contacted me, I told them what happened, and they said they would send someone out to take pictures that day. He didn't show up that day but did in the late afternoon the next day. He took a couple of pictures and left. When I next talked to Progressive, they said that their client had a different story than I did, and he is claiming the accident was my fault. They messed around for about another week before they finally called me and said they believed their client, and would not be paying for the repairs that my car needed. They stated that trucks could straddle the turning lane and the straight lane when making a right turn. There is no way he was straddling the lane, because he was flush next to me when he started turning.

I am in the process of obtaining a video tape of the accident that a TV station has from a camera at that intersection. It will clearly prove that he was at fault. So in conclusion, because he fed me a line and persuaded me not to call the cops, I have a car with damage and no money to repair it.

Luckily I was able to drive around the vehicle in front of me and not hit it. All three of us were taken to the hospital via ambulance, with me being the worse. Luckily, no one was seriously injured. I did spend the afternoon in the hospital and did not get down to see my grandmother.

The day of the accident was the last day my grandmother could hold a conversation. She died 3 days after my accident. I was in pain for months afterwards. I saw my family doctor twice over the next 3 months. I continue to suffer pain from one of my injuries. I was forced to make a car payment on a vehicle that was totaled. It took Progressive 31 days to contact me by letter. I made 3 phone calls before I received a return phone. When I finally spoke with the Progressive adjuster, I was told they would only pay for 1 weeks storage on the car. I contacted an attorney friend who told me to have my carrier take care of the car. They GLADLY did and in a speedy manner. They received their payment from Progressive in December (2007), 6 1/2 months after the accident. I have yet (2/25/08) to settle with Progressive for medical, non-medical and compensatory damages/expenses. I feel like I am being bullied by the adjuster. In December, settlement talks were cut off by Progressive because I was not coming down off my demand for payment number. I am sending them another letter so we will see what happens. My credit has been ruined because of the accident. It has taken me months to pay off the medical bills. I continue to endure stress because of the length of time this has taken.

Thursday morning, I called Progressive and made a claim in regards to a cracked windshield that just happened from a thrown rock on the road. At the time of my call, the crack was 4-5 inches long. Progressive offers a free glass repair service, and I informed the representative that the crack was spreading, and I needed it repaired immediately, before the crack grew above 6 inches (the maximum length they will repair). The representative informed me that a glass repair tech would come out to me later that day.

By the end of the day when no one came out, I called Progressive and a representative informed me that the previous rep that I talked to did not in fact make an appointment, even though she said she did. Now, the crack on my windshield is over 10 inches (unrepairable), and Progressive refuses to admit fault due to not contacting the glass repair tech. They say we offer the repair service as a courtesy, so there's nothing we can do. Even if we are at fault, we still won't do anything about it because it's a courtesy service So why did I even sign up for Progressive if they wont honor their courtesy services? Progressive has now informed me that I must pay for the replacement of the entire window, but if they would have come out when the crack was small, I wouldn't be in this situation. I have talked to several managers, and they all blow me off and treat me poorly. I am switching my policy out of Progressive. I shouldn't be treated like dirt and like I don't know what I'm talking about from my insurance company.

Progressive is forcing me to pay for their mistake and replace my entire windshield. A rep also informed me that until I fix my windshield, my rates may increase. This is all because of Progressive's mistake that they won't own up to.

My car was wrecked on Jan 11, 2008 due to a malfunction of my steering wheel. The wreck happened right next to a Service King and the car was towed to the shop so that they can start work on it right away. After calling progressive, I was convinced to have it towed to their center for their so called concierge level of service and lifetime warranty on all repairs. First of all, it took 3-4 business days before I could get an estimate and 2 weeks and 4 days before I could pick up the car.

Then, one day after I picked up my car, the steering wheel malfunctioned again, and I could not properly park my car as a result. Also the airbag lights where still on, and my horn was not working due to some wiring problems. Progressive towed the car back to the shop and claimed to fix the car after another week, but when I tested the car, my horn was still not working, and the steering wheel started making some funny sounds, and felt very loose compared to before. The body shop now claims that the problems from the steering, the horn and the airbag are from a prior wreck so they cannot fix these. Mind you, this car has passed inspection 2 times since I bought it and the horn and the steering are on the list of items to be inspected. So at this point, Progressive wants me to pick up my car which now has steering wheel problems, and a horn that does not work. Who knows what else was not fixed on this car. I feel helpless and am not comfortable driving this car with my 2 year old in it.

I filed claim number 07-2728596 with Progressive on August 5, 2007 for hit and run damage to my car. Progressive sent me to a substandard auto body shop to evaluate the damage. When I went to the auto body shop, I explained that I did not have any cash on me, and I would not be having any work done that day--I just wanted the an estimate of damage. I left the car with them, and they called me at work 2 hours later and told me that the estimate was completed and asked if I wanted them to proceed with the repair work. I reiterated that I did not have any money and could not have the work done that day. The auto body shop then told me that they had taken my front bumper off of my car and that they would not put it back onto my car unless I paid them $60 cash on the spot. I called Progressive and threatened to call the police. The auto body shop then relented and put the bumper back on the car. Their estimate was for minor cosmetic damage to the bumper only with no structural damage. I then attempted to work with Progressive to get the person who caused the damage (my landlord) to provide his insurance information to get my car repaired.

However, despite repeated calls to Progressive over the next couple of months, no one from the insurance company would ever return my calls. I provided them with the name, address of the person who committed the damage and a witness who saw this person in the area on the day that the hit and run occurred. After calling and leaving 5 or 6 messages for the Progressive claims adjuster which were never returned, I called the main Progressive number and complained to their Customer Care department. They referred it to the regional manager. The regional manager never called me back. To this day, I have not ever received any communication from Progressive regarding the status of my claim or final resolution. The damage to my car is much more substantial than was evaluated by their corrupt body shop, because when it rains I now have approximately 2 gallons of water pouring into the car under the dash on the side of the car that was hit. The electrical system is shorting out as a result of the water. My ex-landlord drives by my new house all the time with a dent in his car that matches up to the dent in my car. I do not believe Progressive ever really investigated this claim, beyond sending a form letter to the perpetrator. I do not believe that the auto body shop that Progressive sent me to was reputable, and I believe that they purposefully refrained from completely evaluating the damage because they knew I wasn't going to give them any money. I believe that Progressive offers sham insurance coverage.

I do not have any money to pay for the damage to be evaluated. I have complained yet again to Progressive and asked them to send me to another shop for evaluation. However, past experience shows me that it is not likely that they will return my phone calls or help me. This is my only car. I commute 80 miles per day. If my car breaks, I will not be able to afford to get another one. I will lose my job, and my family will be homeless. Also, the landlord illegally retaliated against me, and we were forced to move out of his rental property shortly after the form letter was sent to him. Progressive Insurance has ruined my life.

I had an accident on the evening of 11/27/2007. My truck was towed to a local towing company depot. I called Progressive the next day to make the claim. After having to make 5-6 calls to them over the next few days to see what was going on and to ask why an adjuster had not been in contact, they finally had the truck towed to a local repair facility called Haddock in Wake Forest, NC, at their recommendation 5 days later. The adjuster didn't get out there until another week had passed, and when I got to speak with him he said he was very busy due to the 'deer' accidents. I have been waiting now 23 days, and the repair facility has still not even started the work yet. My truck is visible from the main road and is just sitting outside in the rain.

I have no rental coverage on my policy because I couldn't afford it. I have been borrowing friends' vehicles, getting rides, walking and generally doing what I can to get around and to work. My policy costs me $185 a month, and this is the kind of service I get when I have to make a claim.

I totaled my car the day before Thanksgiving, 2007. I called PROGRESSIVE and reported the accident while at the scene, with the tow truck and police still there. I was told that my claim adjuster would be calling me shortly to get more information from me to expedite my claim. He did not. When he did call, he instructed me to fax documents to prove my current address on file with them, which I did within a few hours. A few days later he called and told me I'm being investigated because the address I used at the start of my policy (in March 2003) needs to be verified, so I need to fax over utility bills, rent receipts/contracts, W2's etc. to prove that I lived where I said I lived 4.5 yrs ago.

Progressive has been taking my insurance premium out of my account for 4.5 yrs with no problems and/or hesitation, but now that I need them to pay a claim, they seem to be REDLINING. I only owe $4200.00 on my Aurora, and they're INVESTIGATING my claim.. That's 1/3 of what I've paid into my policy over the 4.5 yr period, and they don't wanna pay for it. The rep at PROGRESSIVE also tells me that if they are able to prove that I didn't live where I said I lived in 2003, they'll refund all my money back from day one (in installments). They'll pay me back over $12,000.00, but don't wanna pay my claim for $4200.00? I feel like I've been raped by PROGRESSIVE. For years I've been paying into this company, THINKING I'm covered; but in the end, I may have to pay for my car, that's sitting in a junkyard, TOTALLED.

Until this situation is resolved, I am still paying the car note for my totaled car; however I've had to rent a car for the past week which is an additional expense. Not to mention, Progressive is still taking their premium out of my account....

I insured my atv prior to going riding for the weekend. Ended up hitting a tree on Sunday. Called a claim in that night 10/8/2007. Next thing I know I'm under some sort of investigation from progressive. 2 weeks later my local claim agent came to my house to review the damage. Then a week later they told me that the could not issue me a check because I did not have a title for my atv. I explained to them that i bought it in new York and that they don't have titles there. they have registration cards for atv and that the guy I purchased it from did not have it registered because he didn't ride it for 3 years. They said that there was nothing they could do until I got it titled.

My argument was that they never asked if I had a title when I registered it so why do I need to provide one now. Anyways I decided to just drop it and fix the atv with my own money.

I backed a small trailer into a mailbox on private property, causing some damage. We called Progressive to ask some initial questions about filing a claim. We were told that because it was on private property and the damage was a trailer that was hooked to an insured vehicle, the deductible would be waived, a $500 maximum payout would be issued, and it would not be recorded as an "at fault" accident. Sounded like a no-brainer, so we filed the claim.

Then we get a call that it WOULD be on our record as an "at fault" accident, and the $500 deductible applied. No biggie, we just wanted to cancel the claim. Can't do that? What? Too late, I had already admitted to an at fault accident and they will not remove that from the record, even if we do not follow through with the claim. They are not able to determine the rep that gave us the mis-information. Ok, I talk to his supervisor and am told the same thing. They will not drop the claim even though I assured them that all 3 policies would be cancelled as soon as they handed me the check. So that's what happened. I got the check, and the next morning all policies were cancelled, and went with Liberty Mutual.

So now I have an "at fault" mark on my insurance and my rates are higher, but the worst part was getting the final bill and 3 weeks later, we get a call from a collections agency! Bill was printed on March 30th, received the first week of April, collections call was on April 24th. They are getting very personal over this, not happy with blemishing my insurance record, but now I am trying to deal with extremely rude collections reps and have a bad mark on my otherwise clean credit report over a 3 week delay in paying the final bill! Unbelievable! We were good customers for years, but we have never been so unhappy with a company before this. Very poor customer service and they get very personal with their retaliation.

Was charged $309 up front to bind coverage on my new car or almost 50% of the premium for 6 months. I was assured this was the best premium I could get. I was charged for things I told them I didn't want after I got the policy. Well I found that Geico could better their premium by almost $200 so I called to cancel "Progressives" policy. Well I found out there would be NO refund as it is the policy of Progressive to claim 90% of all unused premium with the other 10% going to the company who wrote the policy. In other words I paid $309 for 41 days of coverage.

I asked for and recieved a quote for auto insurance from Progressive and they preceded to tell me that after receiving their quote that it would cost me more because I was a VICTIM in two rear end accidents that were not my fault. I can see where you would pay more for insurance if you were AT FAULT, but not because you were the victim of the accident. What is going on with this?

They proceded to tell me that the state allows them to do this when they set their rates and that all insurance companies do the same thing. If that is the case, then we as consumers are getting ripped off and something should be done to stop it NOW. This is a flagrant gouging of the consumer and legislation should be set to immediately stop this unorthodox practice. We pay enough for insurance as it is, so why should we be penalized for being the victim in an accident?

I would like an answer to this as soon as possible so I may take it further to my state representative and state senator, even to the governor himself if need be.

Many states have no-fault laws under which each insurance companies pays for damages to their client's vehicle. Thus, the entire notion of fault is irrelevant in setting rates. Odd as it may seem, some people have more accidents than others and, logically, insurance companies charge those people more for coverage.

I purchased a car for my son and purchased full coverage for it through Progressive. On Dec. 2001 my son rear-ended a truck and caused severe damage to his car. When we reported this to the insurance company, the adjustor asigned was Jay C. who up to this date refuses to talk to us or come and look at this car. He believes that my son was excluded from coverage even though this car and the loan were under his name. His name suddenly appeared on the exclusion list while my other son who is another driver in the household is included. He is two years younger than the excluded driver.

Which father would buy a car for his son and have him excluded? Progressive's main goal is to take advantage of their clients and refuse as many legitimate claim as possible.

Now they have sent the same statement form twice for me to fill out and I furnished them with pictures of the stolen bike and all my receipts and three times I have been asked for explainations of parts and where they where purchased when the info was at the top of each receipt and some parts were bought at swap meets and receipts where given.

Now I'm being asked to do a sworn statement in front of a court reporter and bring my tax returns for 1998 and 1999. When I called Mike Appel up and asked him why I was being treated this way he stated that it was normal for all settlements and that Progessive did this on all claims. I started on the internet to receive a rate quote for car insurance on three vehicles. This could not be completed because of the year of a truck we have. So I was instructed to call and I did.
The customer service rep. had asked for my husband's Social Security number, and I asked her "Why do you need that if I just want a rate quote on cars?" She hesitated. I told her I needed more information on why she needed this number?
She then told me that they have a rating system based on my credit history! I then asked her "What if I have a good driving record?" she answered "We use that plus your credit history" I said, "So if I pay all my bills on time, I will get good rates?" she said "yes" then I said "But if I have bad credit and a great driving record?" she said "that will hurt you."
I asked her if this information (way of business) is known to the consumers, and she said she was not in marketing. What can I do with this? I feel I have or will be cheated, because of information that has nothing to do with insurance or driving record!
Please respond and let me know, and let others be aware of the way "Progressive Insurance" bases their quotes!

Auto insurance companies base their rates on a complex array of factors -- not only on driving record and credit history but also driver age, type of vehicle, place of residence, miles driven annually, whether the driving is mostly business or personal and so on. In the case of younger drivers, grade-point average is often a factor. Believe it or not, statistical models incorporating all this information are surprisingly accurate in predicting which motorists will crumple fenders and break bones in a given year.

I was involved in a car accident on November 26, 1998. My 1998 BMW 323is was demolished and is considered a total loss by two auto body shops. Progressive refuses to honor these opinions and has made no effort to do what needs to be done (totaling my vehicle) or providing me with transportation.

I have upheld my end of the contract with Progressive my paying my premiums, yet they have breached their end of the contract by not servicing me. I desperately need your help! I am a divorced mother on total and permanent disability from IBM Corporation and owned only this one vehicle that I can no longer use. I am still paying my car note and continued to pay premiums to Progressive until this month. I cancelled my policy with them as I could no longer pay for service that I have not received!

I should not have to settle for having my vehicle "patched" and compromise my and my family's safety!

Unfortunately, this is fairly typical. Insurance companies have a great deal of leverage in a case such as yours and it will be difficult to make much progress with them.

AEL could hire an attorney but the cost would be considerable and the experts we consulted did not feel she would be able to recover enough to make it worthwhile. AEL could also call the state insurance commissioner's office and ask if they have a dispute resolution process for cases such as this. All insurance is regulated at the state level, so that's where one must turn for help.

AEL mentioned that she has stopped paying her insurance premiums. This will not help and, if she has another accident, would leave her with no insurance at all. Also, it is illegal to drive without insurance in most states.
