Ever since I filed a claim I’ve been treated terribly. Can’t get anyone to return calls. Took almost a year to get my claim going. It’s still not closed because work can’t get done. They issued check to wrong mortgage company. Took month to get that fixed. Can’t get anywhere with any reps. Very rude and unprofessional. Worse experience I’ve ever encountered with Ins company.

For more than 15 years, Liberty Mutual charged me 630 a month for homeowners' insurance through Ocwen and PHH Mortgage Co. I paid 630 a month for 17 years. Now after dropping them for Allstate, I pay around 130 a month for better insurance. Because of Liberty Mutual, my mortgage loan is now twice what I originally paid for the house. They did this because I didn't know any better.

Beware of Liberty Mutual homeowner insurance. They issue you ACV (Actual Cash value) option to your roof instead of RCV (replacement cost value). You won't know what this is about until you file your claim unless you have the knowledge of it. This means if you replace your roof, you won't be 100% covered by the cost. Your old roof will be depreciated and be subtracted from actual replacement cost. i.e. you pay extra out of your pocket. Liberty Mutual will only do this to Texas residents ONLY as per their claim! If you currently insured under Liberty Mutual, be prepared to talk to that Emu when you are having a claim!

Liberty Mutual has not paid for all the damages to my home. They paid a higher amount for siding and a patio door and revised the payments downward by thousands of dollars. They have failed to tell me why. A public adjustor states insurance is not allowed to do this and yet they have. They have failed to work with my contractor to pay for the damages to my home. They changed carpet pricing three times within a couple of months. They lowered the price to .79 cents a square foot and only raised to $6.13 once the carpet was sent to Itel. They allowed $33K+ for siding and then lowered this amount the following year when I submitted an estimate from a contractor for more.

They lowered to the low $20K. They removed line items they previously paid from future revisions. They keep reassign my claim to new people who know less about the claim. I asked them to explain how they arrived at the amounts on the claim detail and they will not explain the legal authority to me that allowed them to just go in and modify the claim.

They also split my claim and it took over 4 years for insurance to acknowledge I had a roof that needed replacing. My claim involves more than three trades and they have not added O & P to the second claim. For 4 years insurance denied there was interior damage to many areas of my home because of roof damage in a storm. Then when they acknowledged and decided to pay for the roof I was told that the interior damage to the living room ceiling was pre-existing until 2020 when a claims adjustor admitted it was reasonable to have water damage to the interior when the roof was damage.

I have to agree with the review of those who have put in claims and been denied. I too have had a horrible experience with this company and will never use them again. They essentially lied on the denial letter instead of putting down what the real issue was. They were supposed to determine if the damage was from the inside or outside and couldn't do so without taking down the walls--so they not only denied the claim, but made something up instead of just putting that down. I really don't understand why they would do such a thing. You pay for insurance and they fight you tooth and nail to not give you the best service and provide you with what you need. Do not waste your time with this company unless you will never need anything from them.

I am a registered nurse for 37 years. As an RN I have responded to many emergency situations throughout the years. If I were in need I would hope there would be assistance. Unfortunately I was disappointed by the claims department at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. On July 6th 2020 there was a major Thunder and lightning rainstorm. As a result my air conditioning unit was struck by lightning. I know this because I was at home at the time of the event. My circuit breaker turned to the off position and my HVAC unit was unable to cool my home. I contacted Amstel -an HVAC company- and the technician confirmed that the unit was grounded as a result of the lightning and the terminals were burnt. A claim was initiated at Liberty Mutual by John "Clint" **.

I was informed Liberty Mutual would need to send HVAC investigators -Ben ** 888-407-5224 extension ** -to my home in order to investigate the system. Their technician entered my home without a mask (Covid). His findings were normal wear and tear. HVAC investigators' findings were in stark contrast of Amstel's findings. In the interim I purchased several portable air conditioners as it is 95° to 100° in the state of Delaware. A conference call with John Clint **, Ben **, John **, and I was placed on July 15th 2020.

It was determined that my claim was denied as Liberty Mutual had faith in HVAC investigators' report and chose to ignore Amstel's report that the terminals were burnt off as a result of the lightning from the storm. As a consumer it was my hope that Liberty Mutual -my insurance company for MANY YEARS-would assist me in my time of need. I am NOT SURPRISED Liberty mutual chose to believe the company they hired....THEY WILL SAVE $8000!!!

Was struck by a severe hail storm May 2018. Independent estimators were all over our subdivision but would not touch mine because I was insured by Liberty Mutual so I had to use theirs, property professionals. New roof was installed within a month but all the other work was put on ignore. Noticed leak within a few weeks after the new roof was installed. Leak was repaired a year later after black mold has set in. Have gone through three representatives of professional properties including the owner who did absolutely nothing the two weeks he was here but lied and did not show up when he said he would on numerous occasions.

The siding went up about a year later that was damaged along with the gutters which were not installed properly and developed leaks behind the gutter. Also killed a lot of my plants and flowers around the house for being covered so long when the roof was being installed. I even lost 12 Koi fish in my pond due to the shingle material going into it and the fish digesting it. Back to the leak, they sprayed some substance on it instead of replacing the drywall and threw drywall mud on top of that. Having had enough I kicked all of them off the job and settled for a cash payment. Liberty Mutual has good prices but you better hope you never have a claim. I later found out independent contractors would not touch Liberty Mutual because their payment method took over six months to collect.

A Liberty Mutual representative visited my residence during the last week of February or the early first week of March and asked my boyfriend if it was alright to look around the property and take pictures. He asked me later that day if I was aware of the visit by Liberty Mutual and I told him no because I was not informed at that time. The following week on March 9, 2020, I received the inspection notification letter. The letter stated, “no action is required at this time.” Additionally, the letter was dated February 28th and was not received until ten days later, far after the visit. This occurrence appears to be conniving.

I also had a conversation with a neighbor who had Liberty Mutual also. The neighbor was being charged $6,000 a year. These actions can be classified as redlining if similar occurrences happened within the same vicinity. I thought it was the law to make sure the recipient receive the inspection letter before the inspector shows up. What they have demonstrated is unacceptable behavior and lack of professionalism.

We have had several wind and hail storms over the last 7 years but this last one caused a leak so decided to have it checked. It was leaking so called and was told that no longer was the $500 deductible valid but now it was 1% of the value of the home. Over $1700 which was totally ignorant of me to continue to do business with a sub par company. All my neighbors had $500 deductibles with their insurance and that is what they had to pay. It is a shame that the rates are 45% higher than most others and their coverage is that pathetic. Time to look for a quality company for $800-900 a year less with quality coverage. Reasons stated were: Gutters needed cleaning out, and tree limbs were hanging over the roof. There was only one place where any tree limbs were hanging over the roof and ii's way up high where an old tree has long reaching limbs. REALLY? The inspector came and left. Three weeks later we received a letter (with three days notice) that our insurance policy was being cancelled. They claimed the reason was that there were major renovations going on without their prior knowledge. First of all, we closed on a new home. The only "renovation" occurring during the inspection was a paint job around the house. We were never asked nor informed we needed to tell anyone we were painting the house upon purchase. They only gave us three days notice to find new insurance. On the other hand, we got a MUCH better deal with another company. I have a replacement cost homeowner policy which means that the company was to me the actual cost value first, and then pay me the recoverable depreciation after works are completed. The crooked contractor recommended by adjuster intentionally failed to do certain work but completed most of the other repairs. The contractor then attempted to charge me for the work intentionally not done. The final charge was later reduced by about $3000 for the omitted work.

Now adjuster has refused to pay the recoverable depreciation for the part of the repairs that had already been completed claiming that I spent less on the omitted works (this downgrade was not my choice). The effect of their calculation of the final claim payout is such that they are not even paying for the ACV on the work intentionally left out by the contractor. I believe that the adjuster and contractor are colluded and are trying to get back at me. I now have to file a legal suit against them to get back the recoverable depreciation for works done.

The only reply was, rates has went up in Georgia and the most horrible thing about them is they send you a very subtle notice. Unless you pay very close attention you won't realize what is about to happen to you, they will simply change the amount owed go into bank account before renewal comes around as though nothing has happened. I have had Liberty Mutual Insurance for less than a month. I just purchased a home and was required to pay for a year of insurance up front as part of my FHA agreement. The company sent out a rep to take pictures only 4 days after my closing which is not enough time to get a home in order period. I happened to be home at the time and had already taken on a home renovation and was landscaping the front yard when the rep came to take the pictures. Because my dogs were outside with me, he asked to take pictures of them (two Chihuahuas) and was asking me questions about their breed and various things of which I have already answered when I applied for the insurance. The rep could clearly see I was pulling up bushes and shrubs which of course created yard waste and debris. There was also a carpet I had pulled out of the living room and was waiting for trash day to have it removed.

I just received an email today stating that my policy is scheduled to be cancelled unless I remove the yard waste and debris from my yard, and that I need to replace the siding in a few spots on my house. The siding on the house is less than ten years old, and has some normal cracks and bubbling that occur over time, but over all is in EXCELLENT condition. If you won't insure a house with this good of siding, I don't think there is a single house in my neighborhood that would be up to the standards of Liberty Mutual. The vinyl siding is also over wood siding, so there is a second layer of protection from the elements.

When I called to ask to see the pictures of the siding that needs to be replaced they declined to provide me with the photographs. This is an absolute joke. A very thorough home inspector, appraiser and two FHA underwriters listed this home as an as is sale with no modifications or repairs needed, but apparently a few pieces of siding with very minimal cracking and the insurance company refuses to insure my house. I will gladly take my business elsewhere.

A refund check was supposedly issued to me in April within a day or two of cancellation, according to e-mail records. After two months of not receiving any refund, I called their toll-free number to inquire about the check. I was informed it had been mailed to my previous residence address in another state and that a “stop payment” needed to be placed on it and another issued to me here at the address of the insured property early July. A call of inquiry on July 18th resulted in being informed a new check would be issued the next day.

When I called for a follow-up on July 25th, I was informed they needed to check with billing and would call me back. I did receive a callback and was told it was issued to me and my mortgage originator. The lady informed me she would have the Payee changed to just me and another new check would be issued. On August 10th I received another e-mail stating a check has been mailed to me on August 2nd and should arrive in 7 to 10 business days.

Called again today, since it has been 16 business days and still no check. The Customer Service representative informed the check had been mailed to an address 4 houses North of me, where we originally obtained a homeowner’s policy quote before buying our current residence. Today he had to reinstate the policy and then tomorrow he will go in and cancel again and another refund should be generated and sent to the correct address once it is cancelled again. So I called back in June to have it changed and she was no longer an employee there.

I questioned the rep I talked to as to why it could drop so much and why no one ever contacted me in all these years, and she said there’s a note on my renewal that you can call in to have your policy refugees and that they don’t have dedicated reps in all their locations. Once I asked them to renew my policy the retention department kept me on hold to rewrite new policy and later they said they will not renew my policy and said my policy is marked for non renewal. As I know insurance company should give certain number of days' notice and explain the reason for not renewing before it drops your policy. I got notice for payment and expiration date for cancellation, but it doesn't say anything about non renewal. This what I got after being 4 years with Liberty Mutual homeowner Insurance, I never claimed a single dollar and except this never a single payment expiration.

I received a notice from my bank today that my homeowner's policy had expired a week ago. I looked thru my emails and sure enough I hadn't received an email regarding the renewal of the policy, I logged into the site to try and renew and was informed that my information was incorrect. I called customer service who informed me that they would not be renewing my policy. I asked why - never had a claim, premiums are paid thru an escrow, never received an email or a notice via the website indicating there was an issue.

I was told that an inspector came to the house and determined it was vacant, I said yes it was it has been under construction after being destroyed by Hurricane Harvey, she said, "Well we sent you a notice in November and in January letting you know we would not be renewing." "Where did you send the notice?" She said, "To your home address" - I said, "The one you just told me an inspector deemed as vacant!" "Yes, the inspector deemed it vacant therefore you need to find insurance elsewhere." Gladly, what a scam, I am relieved I was notified by my bank so I can find insurance thru a reputable company, that has a little common sense.

Phoenix, AZ. I have home insurance through Liberty Mutual, I live in a house built in 2006, not too old. I just realized a water leak under the sink this week, and called them the same day. They sent out Stanley Steemer to dry the walls and tile and that company notified me that I had mold under the sink. Liberty denied my claim, even though I have $5000 worth of mole coverage because they "assumed" that the leak was going on for a long period of time. I really wished I could see through walls so I could've found the issue sooner! I'm switching now, they stated that it is stated on my policy, but it's not. It's a separate form you have to search for that states it. They won't help you at all, they could care less about you and your family. Save yourself the trouble and don't even consider them.

Purchased 10 policies from Liberty Mutual after experiencing losses due to wind/hail damage in a rental community that were not covered by my insurer. Moved to Liberty Mutual and purchased additional coverage for special assessments on all income properties. Agent got exception to write new policies with recent claims, and sold me additional coverage to make sure we would not experience similar losses. 18 month later experienced identical losses in the same community for 4 units. Claim representative cited an endorsement in the policy limiting these claims for associations/corporations to $1000. Agent acknowledged he was not aware of the endorsement. Sent me email stating in the case of special assessments claim for association master policy deductibles they would pay up to $5000. Email described virtually identical situation to claims filed, only fire not hail/wind.

Liberty Mutual presidential team representative, agent, agents supervisor and claims rep simply said, "Sorry, you should have read your policy closer." It was obvious from the timing of my purchase, (immediately after loss), the purchase of additional coverage specifically to this type of loss exposure, and the email from the agent that they represented that I had purchase coverage for this type of claim. Instead, I get another $12000 loss on top of $10,500 loss the year prior.

Sadly, you pay for insurance all your life thinking you have protection and are covered. Despite their heavy ad campaign (maybe they should save ad money to spend on their clients!?) Liberty Mutual has been an exercise in frustration. We had a house fire. They initially said we were "underinsured" and would have to Sue our agent if we wanted to be covered under their "errors and omission coverage." Then they agreed to pay out but they estimated our $685k house at $245K to repair, so we were forced to substantiate everything we did with estimates, pictures, receipts, etc. If you have a mortgage, all the money goes to the bank and you have to jump through HOOPS to get the funds released. We had to hire experts to prove it needed to be gutted due to smoke damage and hire a public adjuster so they would pay the "replacement value" and complete a total home inventory vs. what some min wage worker in Wisconsin looked up on Amazon.

Thank God the house was still standing to substantiate what was there. We were dealing with no less than 10 people (home adjuster, property adjuster, both of their supervisors, a textile person, an electronic person, a temp housing company, a restoration company, experts in smoke, mold, and remediation - an entire staff of folks) which is nuts when you are kicked out of your home with children, moving, salvaging, and overwhelmed. They interview you immediately to establish your "normal spending" so they can mitigate costs.

Trust me, they are a company concerned with their bottom line, not you. They don't care if you have to eat out every day; they just pay you what you normally spend in groceries. The money they advance you for temp shelter? They deduct from your personal property. You will have to fight your way through the muck for years. It's been two years and we are still fighting them over a 2,000 electrical upgrade and landscaping damage. Looks like we will have to hire an attorney to get what is covered and should be easily paid out. It's a miracle we are back in our home and only $50K out of pocket. After 16 months... and now we are locked into them for 3 years because of the claim. Absolutely horrible to deal with, wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. We have PTSD, no joke.

We called them before the next home insurance was due, stating we wanted to cancel the home insurance portion (we do not have a mortgage and were taking a chance til we could find a more reasonable insurance). When we paid our auto insurance in full, via snail mail with the auto insurance stub, they took a portion of it and put it towards homeowners insurance. We got that straightened out. Since then we have gone with other insurance companies for both home and auto.

Today we get a collections claim in the mail. We have spent half a day trying to straighten this out. But they say we did not cancel until after the next due date. That is not true. We asked them to check their phone records but all they kept saying is that they understand we are upset but they can not remove the bill as they had covered us (unknowingly) for a month or so. The conversation was repetitive and we were not getting anywhere. They offered to lower the claim by $10.00. Needless to say we encourage you to look elsewhere for insurance. anything above a 1 star rating are for folks that have not been screwed by them, YET. I figured that perhaps it will take a little while for them to figure out the billing. I call customer service and tell them that I requested to have it canceled before the start date. They tell me that they will get it taken care of. I receive a bill the following month as well as a notification that my insurance will be canceled if they don't receive payment.

Seeing as I requested cancellation before the effective policy start date, I just figured it was their practice to send those out. The following month I receive yet another bill for the entire amount and I call again to explain once again, that I requested it canceled before the start effective date, that no, I haven't submitted a claim, no I do not wish to have insurance through them and that no, I wasn't going to pay for something that should have been canceled literally a week before it was supposed to be effective. Received another bill and made another call the following month.

I am pleased with the coverage and the methods available to obtain that coverage. But there has not much communication from the company since I bought the coverage, not even a mailing. Liberty Mutual has excellent customer service from calling in to the main 800 number to communication with our agent and his office. He has been great. As first time homeowners we did not understand a lot of the technical terms on the policies - he took time to explain each term and section and how it would pertain to us as well as how it could impact price. Overall he helped us narrow down our policy to the best option for our needs and he never pushed us towards the more expensive option. It was a very honest and trustworthy process. In the end we also moved our auto and purchased life insurance from them as well.

If our Agent wasn't as amazing as he was we would have had trouble understanding sections of the policy as we never owned a home before. Liberty could perhaps have a section online or a pamphlet for first time buyer or general customers that explains some terminology. It is intimidating at first when you begin to look for policies. Other than that, our policy gave us the right amount of coverage we needed at an affordable price. We got to chose coverage to fit our climate. We reside in and we were able to bundle other insurances to lower the price. Even moving auto and life over were more affordable on their own. I was also able to get a discount as well for where I graduated college from and because of the type of degree I received. They have other perks the agent can assist you with.

The insurance is supposed to give a piece of mind and it does for the most part. The insurance is a salvage insurance. It is expensive and is something we need it to have, because we have made a claim. It's not right that once you make a claim you are targeted for things to fix in order to keep your insurance policy. The policy we have was the one that our broker told us was the best for the money, but it is probably best to shop around and see who offers the better deals periodically.

We are now stuck with a bill of 3-5000 for restaurant meals, a $30000 repair bill and still needing to feed a family of 5. Thanks Liberty Mutual for not living up to your policy. By the way, my policy does state that Liberty will pay for all extra expenses incurred due to the damage, including meals. They also tried to take depreciation into account on my floors even though the policy clearly states the damages will be fully repaired regardless of depreciation, it’s to be replaced at replacement cost, no depreciated cost. So my husband and I were about to purchase a house (we just moved into an apartment at the time) and we wanted to get a quote from Liberty to see if their insurance would be cheaper than Geico (our current carrier). My husband spoke with a salesperson named Jessica (can't recall the last name), and my husband asked about getting a quote on a policy. But something weird was happening. Usually you just get an email or something about a quote, but not this time. She was aggressively trying to get my husband to sign off on paperwork. Wait a minute, you don't that for a quote, so my husband declined and hung up. A few weeks later we get something in the mail from them. It was an actual insurance policy. We didn't sign any paperwork nor did we give them permission to send us anything.

On 9/25/18, We called them and I left a message on their public page on Facebook to let them know that they were scamming us. I spoke with Lauren and Bernard through FB. We had to fill out a cancellation form (why? it's a fake account). They got the fake policy number that we received and we were told that there will be a 48 hour turnaround time for a cancellation. Fine, we thought that this was over. A few weeks later, we have moved into our new home. It is now 10/18/18. My husband went to check our mortgage info and found out that Liberty has received a payment. Wait, what? They're not our insurance company, Geico is. My husband called our mortgage company and found out that they have been harassing them about a payment/late charges, so they sent them a payment.

Once we dug more into this situation, we found out that Liberty didn't decide to cancel the fake account until it was time for a "payment", sent our mortgage company a bill, then once they got the payment, they "cancelled the policy". So apparently scamming people and creating fake accounts is now the new trend for insurance companies. We went through this whole nightmare with them (and still are) all because they want to get extra money from consumers. My husband called them to find out why didn't they cancel the fake policy. Of course there was no answer.

Also, instead of just sending our mortgage company the check back, they wanted us to give them our address so that WE can get the check and send it back to our mortgage company. We were afraid to do that because then that will be another scam for them to create another fake policy. Right now, we're going to wait and see if this fake account is removed and get our refund. If not, then may need to seek legal help. I hope that there are others out there who have had similar situations and take them to court, because this is grounds for a lawsuit.

I feel bad for those who have had negative experiences with Liberty Mutual home insurance. I read those reviews after a tree fell on our garage and worried about it. But, we had an excellent experience. We have had Liberty Mutual home insurance since 2005. They are the only company who will insure our home because it was built in 1850. They are also the most reasonable insurers. This incident was the first home loss claim we have filed.

A tree fell on our house on a Saturday. We called emergency tree service first and then Liberty Mutual. On Tuesday morning, the adjuster, Will, came to the house to inspect. He was very professional and understanding. He cut us a check on the spot for 1/3 of our policy limit. He added the tree service to his system so he could pay them directly, taking stress off of us.

It took a while for us to find legitimate contractors. Once we did, I sent three estimates to Will. He reviewed them. I told him we were ready to start the work. Within three days, he stopped by our house with a check for the balance. On top of that all, he forgave our $1000 deductible because the garage ended up being way more expensive to replace than anyone could have guessed. My experience with Liberty Mutual has been nothing but excellent. He responded to phone calls and emails in a timely manner. I never felt abandoned or stranded throughout this entire process.

I asked this lady that I don't want these additional coverage. What I want is for her to find a way to lower my original premium. I am a loyal customer, I hate to leave, but if there is a company that will give a lower premium, then we go to the lower premium. She said, she can't lower it anymore. My original premium was $1660.00 and the new premium will be $1874.00. I told her to remove this $1874.00 and move it back to $1660.00. She said, she cannot change it and I could go ahead and shop with other companies, "just call back if I find one." So I went ahead and shopped and found one, a little bit difference. I could have stayed at Liberty Mutual. But the agent in this new company, she was patient and treated me nicely.

After reading some of the reviews it's madding to see just how unlawful, unprofessional, and just plain inhuman behavior that thrives in their claims dept. My home was vandalized with chemicals, paint, household cleaners, eggs, feces and urine by one of the three felons convicted of my daughter's murder. The claim occurred in Feb of 2016. To date I've just been assigned the fifth adjustor. Hopefully this one will not accuse me of damaging my daughter's urn and ashes. I was steered and mandated to use a restoration company that was not qualified. When I requested another company I was told it's either them or no one. Liberty Mutual has paid them for services not rendered without my name on the draft. Something that the policy states would not occur.

My home was left in shambles. Anything of value taken. This I know have found out was not acceptable practice in CA. I should have been given 3 companies and then the choice should have been mine. But then the claims adjustor is located out of state, also a no no in CA, so how would she be a subject matter expert on CA laws. My home is over 2000 sq feet on over 3 acres. Liberty Mutual stated I must reside in a 300 sq ft motel with no handicap bathrooms (my father is 100% disabled). My animals would then be required to be placed on a leash and be taken out next to the freeway. I was told that place or no place. Again this is a CA State Ins Commissioner No No. Since I was abandoned by the restoration company and Liberty Mutual after I refused to allow a nonlicensed "general contractor" to restore my home.

The company environment promotes perhaps mandates that claims are intentionally made difficult to lowball or even deny the insured any assistance. My Father has pulmonary issues due to Agent Orange exposure, yet Liberty Mutual continues to withhold the last 2 mold reports from his physicians. The first one was bad. The second report worse, the third and fourth must be horrific since they won't release it. I have filed a complaint with the CA Ins Commissioner and am awaiting them to investigate Liberty Mutual's actions or lack of. Looks like perhaps the Federal Government should investigate these practices as it appears this problem extends to all states and all product lines. I just wish that they would stop accusing me of destroying my deceased child's belongings. DO NOT PURCHASE COVERAGE FROM THIS COMPANY.

Liberty Mutual was my homeowner's insurance since early 2009. First thing they increased my coverage without me having any idea that this increase coverage had even been fraudulently been placed. October 21st 2017 I was on my roof starting a home improvement project, "building awning over back deck and stairs" when I slipped on algae, and fell 21 feet. During my month long stay in hospital I reached out to L. M. for some assistance and was told that they were so terribly sorry to hear about accident, but there was nothing they could do to help me, medical, mortgage, nothing. So May 15th, 2018 disabled from fall off roof now, I returned home to find my house had been burglarized. Just to emphasize they even stole my flower beds, WOW.

Sheriff's dept. was dispatched and report filed that day. I reported it to my very apologetic L. M. claims dept. that sent an adjuster out. Soon after I was contacted by a lady from special claims investigator dept., whom proceeded to ask a series of questions that I now am feeling as a villian not victim. I now had to move in with my parents because I haven't been able to make my mortgage payments since my fall. So now my home I built is gone, most of anything that wasn't bolted down has been stolen, a private investigator shows at my parents home unannounced to interrogate my fiance for 2 hours and father for 1 hour then to ask me to open my storage shed to make sure the items that were stolen were not in there. So a month later still no sign of reimbursement funds. Hey! "What's a man to do?"

I recently had a burst pipe in my condo, which caused my kitchen to be get flooded and ruined my cabinets, counter-tops etc. An initial estimate that was given to me by their inspector was just over a thousand dollars, which would not be enough to even do a quarter of the repairs required. The real kick was when two days post-inspection, a Liberty Mutual agent reached out to me to inform me that 3 of their experts have reviewed my case and agreed that none of the damage will be covered at all due to them deeming it a seepage and not a burst pipe (it was a hot water pipe, which is pressurized and experts should know that pressurized pipes don't seep, they can only burst). That's when I started feeling shaky about dealing with this insurance company.

I pushed back and got a quote from a licensed professional to get an idea of what a true estimate for repairs would be. It was $10.5K, which I sent in for review. Then the whole process went dark for two weeks, meanwhile I was trying to get in touch with my case handler calling in and sending emails on daily basis. It took me reaching out to a senior level executive from corporate to finally get the ball rolling. My case handler immediately got in touch with me and advised me that they are accepting the fact that they will pay for the repairs, but sent a counter offer, which my contractor agreed on ($9.8K). So, we went ahead with the repairs having received 2 initial payments and an assurance from the estimator that the only way I will receive "recoverable depreciation" is by getting reimbursement post repairs.

It has now been over a month and repairs have been completed, however, today I received a phone call from Liberty Mutual agent and was informed that only $6K will be covered under the policy, although my contractor and I agreed and signed off on the original quote of $9.8K from Liberty Mutual. Now I'm facing a shortage of over $4K that they wrote in for "recoverable depreciation" that they are refusing to pay.

I have followed Liberty Mutual's guidelines to the dot - "Before repairs begin, please show our estimate to your contractor. If your contractor's estimate exceeds the amounts in our estimate, please contact us prior to beginning the work." I have reviewed and negotiated with my contractor to bring his price down to match Liberty Mutual's quote line item for line item before doing any repairs and now I'm facing over $4K of expenses that I have to pay out of pocket. I then sent in my contractor's quote to Liberty Mutual and was cleared to begin work and was advised that the final payment (including recoverable depreciation) will be issued upon completion. Nowhere in the quote did it mention that only $6K will be covered. I would not have gone ahead with the repairs if I knew that that was going to be the case.

It's also suspiciously odd that on their quote they wrote $5.6K (just under $6k policy limit) in "actual cash value" that they already paid out to me and $4.2K in "recoverable depreciation" that they are now not willing to pay due to my policy's $6K "dwelling" limit. Again, none of the above was stated on the agreed quote/contract. Very shady business practices on their end. The whole customer service experience has been a misery and I regret how much of my personal time I have wasted on resolving this issue. I would definitely recommend to look elsewhere if you are shopping for home insurance. I will certainly be switching in the very near future. More to follow...

We switched to Liberty Mutual 2 years ago for both homeowners and cars. After virtually no claims on insurance for 40 years, a county wide storm felled a huge tree, ripped shingles off the roof of the house and barn and pulled the heavy barn door off track. They had an out of state appraiser come in, we had an estimate and he agreed. Then the company said they would only pay half. The local office assisted and, after another estimate they paid about $1500. This year got a letter from our bank that escrow would be going up as our house insurance increased 25%. No word of this from our agent. I called and he said, of course, you used the insurance, we have to penalize you.

So in a couple years they will recoup the paid amount and continue to charge us at a higher level. How good for them! (They also increased our auto insurance without notification.) So while our level of insurance was good, apparently using it was not. Went to other agents, Liberty put in the system that the claim was over $2000 (I guess including the deductible we paid). That is not fair, not fair at all. So we found another company and recommend you do the same.

They had to go back & get more cause Liberty was wrong. It took me 7 calls to get someone address this issue and it's still not resolved. They aged the home wrong & when I showed proof they said they were going to rate it monthly rather than annual, because they have that option. Over all those years a few claims have been made on their auto insurance. On April 2018, a water leak was first observed in their basement and reported to Liberty Mutual on that same day. The claims agent refused any reimbursement for my parents because the leak had occurred for over two weeks. Allegedly, that information was received from a Ben Franklin plumber who did the work however, the individual who spoke with the Liberty Mutual agent was never identified when we spoke with Ben Franklin.

To date, my fixed income parents have paid out over $8,000 for plumbing repairs and mold abatement procedures. In addition, the emotional stress they have suffered due to this incident has been extreme. Because of our extraordinary dissatisfaction with Liberty Mutual's response to my parents' claim, both the auto insurance policies and the homeowners policy will be canceled. We comparison shopped and found that State Farm would provide car insurance and homeowners for $220 a month less than Liberty Mutual. We will be sure to share this story on social media.

I cannot even begin to express how disappointed I have been with how our Home Insurance Claim has been handled by Liberty Mutual. We had a sudden water damage claim where much of our upstairs flooring was effected as well as our downstairs ceiling and flooring. All of our hardwood matched and was either contiguous, adjoined or connected by direct line of sight. Liberty Mutual is only willing to cover the floor that was directly touched by the water, which in most cases would be fine, except for the fact that they can't match our current hardwood floors. They want to put down transitions where transitions didn't exist before and leave our home with mismatched flooring that is "close enough".

Many of our phone calls have taken weeks to be returned, our contractors have received intimidating and coercing phone calls from our claims adjuster attempting to get them to side with Liberty Mutual on the scope of the repair and to top it off, Liberty Mutual has not only told us that they won't budge on their stance but has told us that if we want any further action we would have to sue them. Absolutely unreal. My family has already pulled their business out of Liberty Mutual and I plan on making sure everyone else in my life stays away from this crooked organization.

We have had Liberty Mutual Insurance for 10 years, both homeowner and car, for a while we had renters - renter and owners. We have had several claims. Claim #1 found out the upstairs bathtub drain was not connected to the drain pipe, flooded the ceiling and part fell down - with renters in the house. We were out of state, and had a $1,000 deductible. Called Liberty Mutual to report the claim, they had the mitigation company out the next day. They orchestrated the plumber for the plumbing repairs and all of the ceiling/ wall repairs and paint. The total came to $1017 so we decided to just cover out of pocket - but they got everything done for us in less than 2 weeks the house was completely put back together.

Claim # 2 My husband was T boned driving down the road, he was not at fault but they had an appointment to have the vehicle assessed by the next day, it ended up being totaled out and we received the check within the week, with the reimbursement for our deductible from the at fault's insurance arriving within 2 weeks.

Claim # 3 Freak hail storm damaged several neighborhoods in our city. It was declared a natural disaster as so much damage was incurred. the adjuster took a week to come out and tried to pull "these shingles were recalled so you need to contact the builder." Contacted the company with proof that the entire neighborhood had roof claims and proof of the hail damage. In response a new adjuster was sent out and she reviewed all information and granted our claim, we had a $500 deductible which the roofing company agreed to waive for a yard sign. This repair took 4 months due to weather as it was mid fall when the damage occurred, a patch was done and when the ice was gone a new roof was installed.

Claim # 4 My suburban was T boned driving down the road, the adjuster had the car in for inspection the next day. Overnighted us a check for the car seats so we could buy new ones. The Suburban was totaled out and we were given the option of a check from Liberty Mutual less our $500 deductible or for them to orchestrate payment from the at fault driver's insurance, we decided to wait and the check came within 2 weeks.

Claim #5 The drain pipe from the upstairs bathtub came loose and there was a slow drip. I have no idea how long it lasted, but I noticed a mushroom in the corner of the ceiling. So I put in a claim. The next day the pipe fully broke loose and flooded upstairs and downstairs (impacted 8 rooms). The pressure was raised that week by the water company and it blew our water heater and all valves (toilet, shower, bathtubs, and sinks). They just adjusted the claim to cover all affected rooms. The entire house ended up needing new floors, we needed 3 new bathroom vanities, several walls and the master shower to be ripped out to repair the damage. It was over a $20,000 claim. We were given checks as the work progressed to pay the variety of contractors.

We did elect to do some upgrades, and those were at our personal expense (less the amount the insurance would cover for the original quality/ materials). We were told when all the work had been completed and the paperwork filed we would receive the depreciation check - for several thousand dollars. It never came, I tried for months before I gave up as I did not have the time to put into all of the follow up.

Claim # 6 Husband was rear ended by a semi truck. We filed the claim the same day, we tried reaching out to the adjuster several times and never received a response back. She closed the case and now we are working to reopen it, with a new adjuster to get his repairs done (likely the car will be totaled). It has been 3 months since the accident.

Claim # 7 - This week the upstairs toilet (new house) clogged and flooded the bathroom, a bedroom, hallway, staircase and the garage ceiling started falling down. I filed the claim on Tuesday night, mitigation was here Wednesday morning. Adjuster arrived Thursday morning, I was handed a check right then for the repairs. Because it was fecal water that flooded the house, Liberty Mutual is covering in full the mitigation/ clean up - it induced mold in 2 days in the garage due to the hot humid conditions. We have a $1,000 deductible and a check to cover the rest of the repairs already in hand. Overall, we have had pretty good fast resolutions. It seems to depend on the adjuster what happens and how fast. What I have found is if you have an adjuster that is not cooperating speak up, or try to get a new one assigned.

Without any warning, I noticed a pool of water collecting on my beautiful hardwood floors, beneath my kitchen sink. Long story short, water had been collecting under my sink overnight due to some malfunction with the piping. I contacted Liberty Mutual, and the customer service rep was so kind and accommodating. Her first words were, "I am so sorry you and your family are having to deal with this sort of situation." As a skeptic, (I've had many negative insurance encounters), I assumed this was some sort of company jargon, and of course she could care less! Boy, was I wrong. Each and every person I encountered--from the call center, to my estimator, to my claims adjuster was kind, upbeat, accommodating, and resourceful!

I can be a bit demanding, and on occasion a "tough-cookie" to deal with, especially when I am undergoing the stresses of an uncomfortable living environment. Yet, throughout my entire dealings with Liberty Mutual, the angry disgruntled consumer never had to emerge. Immediately, my family was offered hotel accommodations (virtually of my choice) due to my circumstances. I was again offered a hotel for my family while my contractor worked in my home. I am always wary of hotel arrangements that aren't made by me, because I am extremely picky, and require a great deal of space (I have 5 children). With that, Liberty Mutual allowed me to choose my own accommodations, provided they were within a particular (high-quality) chain.

I was able to find, new, clean, spacious rooms, that comfortably fit my large family. The rooms were close to home, close to my husband's job, and met my embarrassingly high standards. I even required a one-day extension on my stay (my contractors, didn't finish the job within their original timeline), and Liberty Mutual's placement company worked hard to find available lodging to suited me (a large local conference left many hotels fully booked). Most importantly, Liberty Mutual did not resolve my issues by compensating me for a patch-up job. They literally too.

I signed up for Homeowners Insurance with Liberty Mutual and made very clear to them our property criteria and needs. They set us up with a plan to fit our needs only to secretly remove coverage each year through the use of Special Endorsements on the Main Policy. Unknown to me I was paying the same cost or more each year for less and less coverage.

After a fire at our home Liberty Mutual was unkind, unorganized, hard to reach, and failed to meet our needs after the disaster; eventually informing us that many things were no longer covered by them even though they never notified us. The entire process has been so stressful. I feel sick regularly from the stress. Dealing with them has been a complete nightmare. They are an evil greedy corporation their agents and adjusters have been unkind! Avoid business them at all costs! At this point I'm going to pass this over to my lawyer though I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done at this point.

Liberty Mutual has been our homeowners insurance carrier for generations totaling over 30 years. After knowing our family for generations for all this time and our minimal number of claims as would be expected, we did have a huge fire loss which was not on our home property but rather at a storage facility not under our control. This huge devastating fire occurred on Feb 18, 2015 at a storage building in Waterbury, Ct. and can still be found on the internet under Fire decimates 115 storage units in Waterbury Feb 18, 2015. We had 4 storage units at this facility where we paid approximately $500 a month in fees storing items both personal and for resale. Liberty Mutual claims that if you are selling a personal item such as a living room set, as soon as you list it for sale whether it is on Craigslist, newspaper, Letgo, OfferUp, eBay, or anywhere, it is no longer considered your personal property but that it is considered business property for sale.

We had $150,000 insurance at our home and usually insurance companies cover 10% including our Liberty Mutual insurance for personal property off your premises therefore our insurance coverage for the 4 storage units would have covered $15,000. In this fire, we lost over $100,000 in both personal and business property and with our breakdown of all our personal items, Liberty Mutual had their own lawyers determine that NONE of our property was determined as personal, despite the fact that we gave them a breakdown of our personal Holiday items, clothing, furniture, and all personal items totaling about $40,000. We itemized everything to the best of our knowledge including photos, estimated purchase price, and depreciation but again, the lawyers for Liberty Mutual said they never saw such detailed records but yet did not have an open mind about this claim and the total claim was denied.

They have their lawyers make a decision and you cannot fight it. If you are considering Liberty Mutual for insurance, but sure to check on the internet for all the negative feedback and complaints against Liberty Mutual as you will be amazed. They will grab your money and pay out menial but refuse to pay any larger claims. Furthermore, we were paying over $2,000 a year for homeowners insurance and for the exact same coverage we are now paying less than half that cost for insurance from Farmers Insurance. We may have lost the claim for $15,000 for our fire loss but after 15 years, we will have gained because of saving over $1000 a year in their outrageous premiums.

It has now been 3 years since the fire and we have saved $3,000 in premiums by dropping Liberty Mutual and going with Farmers Insurance. Of course with us paying the outrageous premiums, they didn't want us to leave, but they are the ones to lose out in the end. BEWARE of Liberty Mutual and feel free to contact me as I will NEVER discard all my paperwork regarding this fire and our loss.

Liberty Mutual only covered the water damage ($2000) and not the repair ($10,000). I paid the ten grand out of my pocket, fixed my basement, called it a day. This morning I get a letter from Liberty Mutual stating that they are cancelling my homeowner’s policy because I am “high risk”.

I immediately pick up the phone and learn that I have no recourse at all and have 60 days to find other coverage. After paying thousands and thousands in premiums over the course of 10+ years, Liberty Mutual had to write a check for $2000 and then kicked me to the curb. “Customer Loyalty”, “Liberty Stands with You”, “We Take Responsibility Seriously”. Liberty Mutual has been great to me, until I elected to use their "preferred contractor" to repair the hail damage to my home. Rhino Exteriors is the company in my area that Liberty Mutual hired. I learned the hard way why Liberty "prefers" these types of low grade contractors. They use the cheapest materials available, and the cheapest subcontractors. I now have extremely leaky windows, and most of the oak trim in my home has been ruined with the overzealous use of spray foam by Rhino Exteriors because they REFUSED to admit they installed low quality windows. In short, Liberty Mutual is a good company, but NEVER, EVER USE THEIR PREFERRED CONTRACTOR REPAIR PROGRAM.

For the first few years, the rates would only go up by about $100-$150/year, but for the last few years the homeowners rates have increased by about $500-$600/year! The auto has also increased, and we have no tickets, accidents or anything on either record.

When I inquire about the increases, I am told that construction costs in the area have gone up so our rates in turn go up. We have a storage shed on the property (with nothing even in it) and that went up as well! In the past I have looked into switching to another company, but this year I am finally going to do it. I have looked into other companies and for the exact same coverage I save almost $2000! Don't insure through Liberty Mutual. Rambling rant ahead. Bought a home. Home is 60 years old. Home is stucco. Home is suburban. We were elated to move in after a very terse inspection process. LM sent out a noob to come photograph the house to find leverage to drop us. No, really. She admitted this was her 3rd house ever and was still new at it. She's photographing hairline—and I mean human hair width—cracks as "structural" cracks in the stucco as "water damage." Uh no, sorry. That's not structural.

Then she photographs a downspout that goes to dirt rather than onto a concrete pad like all the others. So I grab a concrete pad I have nearby, lay it in place like the others, and say, "you mean like this?" "Yes, but I already took the picture." "So take it again." "I can't do that." C. Then she says the driveway has cracks. Yes, observant, aren't you. It does have cracks. Is a cracked driveway a wedge to exploit an insurance carriers liability? The house is 60 f years old and passed a rigorous inspection and yet LM comes in right after with this impersonal robotic letter dropping me. I had been a customer with them since college. HFS!

I emailed my contact there at LM and he was horrified to learn of it. He has no power of course because underwriters want a sure thing: collect money and .001% risk of payout. Greedy fs. They didn't even offer a means to refute or correct. THAT'S what drew my ire. Now I have to roll with the most expensive three-initialed company out there. I used to rave about LM. No more. Horrid horrid way to treat a customer after all these years.

Oh, I forgot the zinger. She, the photographer, tells me if I have a padlock to put on the gate, it'll help. I go get one. I go to lock it and she interrupts, "oh, you don't have to lock it; I just have to photograph that it's there." Oh, ok, so you photograph that, but won't take another image of the concrete pad? The vocal anti-man photographer and her dog that photographed the house was from Mueller Service, Inc of Tonawanda, NY. Hey, Mueller, tip for you: teach your photogs the difference between superficial and structural cracks. If someone would have to Dremel a trough in a "crack" to make it wide enough to even get Dap 50 year in, then it isn't structural. Oh, and as a PS, stucco cracks. Funny thing about physics: heat causes material to expand and cold causes it to contract. Who knew.

My friend works for Am Fam and she said they consider hail an act of nature and it is what they consider an "un-chargeable claim" -- just keep that in mind. Liberty Mutual is hands down the worst insurance company in America today. I had this insurer for two claims I was handling on behalf of Home Owners who had suffered loss due to hail and wind damage in Illinois. I worked 200 claims last year and Liberty Mutual insured two of those claims representing 1% of the claims for 2016. Is it coincidence that those two claims were by far the worst two claims of the year? Can I chalk that up to coincidence, or is this the practice of the insurer who simply refuses to pay out when a loss occurs? One claim in Troy, Illinois took 6 months of fighting to even get it to the point of making any profit at all on the work to be performed. The second was settled much quicker, but only because they were so bad at handling the claim the supervisor just accepted my estimate after the email I sent her.

Their adjuster came out and wrote a decent scope of work only for the local or regional manager to follow up with a different adjuster within a week. The "BOSS" whose name was Kevin jumped on the roof, and never even made the Homeowners aware he was coming and ripped off our tarp leaving it hanging off the edge of the home and then went inside to the mother of the home and started bashing our company. He stated we were a fraud company who didn't even install the tarp in the right location. Our tarp team spent over an hour in the attic locating the leak and knew exactly where it was coming in the home. This punk manager never once climbed in the attic and spent a grand total of 15 minutes on the property, and then turned around and stormed off leaving the mother in a complete panic.

I left dinner with my family after receiving the call from the husband and had to drive 45 minutes to bring peace to a situation that was brought out of thin air by a manager who should know better than to do what he did that day. All it took was one really stirring email and my estimate was accepted immediately. The only reason they accepted it was because someone in that company realized how bad their own internal affairs are and simply had no choice but to agree.

Follow up 2016 and my first Liberty Mutual claim of 2017 was one week after the largest hail storm our town has ever seen, struck of Feb 28. A roof here in town which we replaced for the owner in November of 2016 because Liberty Mutual denied his claim last year was installed out of pocket for the owners at $12,500. Now a brand new roof with much better shingles and ice shield all over the place was purchased by Liberty Mutual at $12,000 including shattered windows, gutters and downspouts, Beat up stainless steel chimney cap (installed in Nov) gutter protection, siding damage, shutter damage, content damage. It was conveniently hand measured by a new adjuster over 20 squares short.

They received our estimate this week for over $32,000 and called immediately saying there would be a second inspection. I will most likely be meeting this same punk manager from last year at this property this coming week and believe me he will not be receiving an ounce of mercy from myself, nor my company due to the fact that they have no business in our industry. Perhaps they should find another line of work because indemnifying a HO after a claim is something they really suck at. The government needs to step in and shut these clowns down for good. I spoke to these owners and after this claim is finished they will be switching insurance companies and going with a real insurance company like State Farm or USAA.

I find out today that Liberty Mutual is the insurer for another customer of mine that I just did a roof patch on in a nearby town, and once I heard the name I totally prepared the owners to put on their gloves and after the inspection to follow, which is almost a guarantee to be denied for some ridiculous reason, I am simply turning this over to a private adjuster and then to the State of Illinois Department of Insurance. They are charging these customers over $350 a month for a home that cannot be valued more than $100,000. Now someone explain the justice in that? I have a home that has a replacement cost of insurance set at $1.9 Million dollars and pay the exact same as this elderly couple trying to survive in this mad world.

Blow the whistle on this company as it is more than evident these God awful claims are not the result of incompetent adjusters because the math and probability of such a thing is impossible. This is the result of company policy and procedure that simply teach their entire team not to indemnify homeowners after a loss, even after price gouging the elderly and the poor. I happen to be one who welcomes any fight when I am representing an elderly couple, so I am telling Liberty Mutual right now to bring it on because they don't want any of what they are about to get from me next week. I can only pray that their manager shows up. The same manager who pulled his stunt last year is the one I am praying for this year. It's time he learn a lesson when dealing with someone who knows more about insurance and fair valuations than he ever will.

When you hear the name Liberty Mutual you better run for your life. Spread the word to all your friends and family to cancel their policies with this insurance company if they know what's good for them. Unless they love paying overpriced premiums for insurance that is never going to be available to them when they do need to make a claim.

We had put in a claim for a new roof in 2015 due to the ice dams that built up and ended up causing interior damage. The Liberty Mutual adjuster was friendly and knowledgeable. He examined the roof along with a contractor we hired to give us a free estimate. The contractor replaced the whole roof and also the interior wall around our 10-foot bay window where there was water damage. It was a very pleasant experience in all and the adjuster stayed in touch with us thru the whole process. Extremely happy with this company.

Only good experiences with this company for over 15 years or so. I had two claims and both were addressed promptly and fairly in consideration of my insurance policy. I would definitely recommend them. The two lower scores of 4 vs 5 having to do with cost/coverage is mostly because I have no comparison and as a Sr. citizen on a very fixed income, I feel like I am paying at my limit and rate keep rising.

Worst homeowners insurance company. Zero stars. I had Liberty Mutual homeowners insurance for over 13 years, never once filed a claim for anything and always paid my premium. After a hurricane came close to Oahu a few weeks after they did "random" home inspections. No one contacted me that they were coming. I got a letter saying my insurance would be canceled due to trees close to house and a rain gutter that was not secured. After contacting Liberty Mutual on the phone they said if I make the repairs and email pictures they would not cancel.

I immediately trimmed a few trees and replaced the rain gutter which I might add was in the same shape as when they originally insured my home. I email pictures of the repairs but no answer, email again and verified that I had correct email still no answer, sent a letter with explanation and pictures no answer. Finally almost 1 1/2 month later I talk with customer service. They say that once they cancel they do not reinstate the policy. Exactly the opposite of what they told me 6 weeks before. They are greedy, saw possibility of actually having to pay a claim and cancel many policies here in Hawaii. They should be reported to the Better Business Bureau for bad practices and are not true to what they say. Timing is too coincidence that the hurricane passed by a few weeks before they would probably have not paid a claim anything to get out of it just as they collect my policy plan for 13 years then dump me.

I had a blanket coverage for Jewelry. When I lost a few items they concluded the items stolen instead of lost and have taken more than six months to resolve, then they want to document it with their lawyer court reporter and bring all items on board that don't even pertain to your claim, like 3 years tax return, checking account history. Not worth the time to deal with the BS. After 1 claim they send in their pathetic unreasonable lawyer's.

Never ever in 25 years dealt with such stubbornness. Liberty Mutual Prides itself in paying claims, but on their time & terms! I pray you will see this and avoid companies alike, not to mention this is a international company, find an American company. That is why we pay the high rate of broad coverage, so in case something happens we can quickly replace the item instead of preying on the disabled who cannot deal with stress as such. It even grosses me out that this international company uses our statue of liberty for their branding.

All those looking for car insurance, do NOT consider Liberty Mutual. They told us that they would take automatic payments out of our account at the beginning of each month and then failed to tell us that they weren't authorized until we signed a form and sent it back. They failed to sent us that form in the mail. They failed to inform us that they weren't taking payments out like they said they would (I admit, we should have been keeping better track). They failed to let us know that they cancelled our insurance and had left us unknowingly without it for 2 months. They failed to mention that we owe them a certain sum of money and that they would send that debt to collections.

We got the letter in the mail from collections today and that is how we found out that we haven't had insurance for a while, that we owe money, and that oh by the way our credit is being threatened. COLLECTIONS had to let us know, and Liberty Mutual never told us ANYTHING. No email, no call, nothing in the mail, NOTHING. They are unorganized, back shanking buffoons who don't deserve my money. End of rant.

My husband and I have had Liberty Mutual insurance for a one year for auto and home. We received notice that both rates increased, especially the homeowners insurance. The rep informed me that "the first year we had certain credits (which we were unaware of) and now the roof, furnace and other home coverages are older. Just like a gallon of milk and a loaf of bread, prices go up." In one year? We have a ten year old home. We had no insurance claims within this year. He could not give me a justifiable reason. Same with the auto insurance. I have not had an accident in twenty years nor a speeding ticket. I live in rural Indiana. Yet my auto ins. increased. We are in the process of canceling coverage with this company. Sounds like rates will increase annually due to the roof getting "older" and my terrible auto driving history.

Customer comments here encouraging me to share you my experiences with Liberty Mutual insurance.

    1) They're always come up with many excuses to raise your premium because of many other claims (even if you have NO claim).
    2) The TV commercial are the paid actors/actress and NOT regular consumers like us. The replace new vehicle is ONLY FOR BRAND NEW VEHICLE & ONLY for the first 12 months.

    3) I had a claim in for slow water leak behind the wall and between my shower and the clothes (water is only leak when the shower is turn on). Their adjusters came and refused to pay because they said this have been leak for a while and blame for not keep up. NOTES: I called them when I see the first leak thru wall. Whatever the reason is/are... we are the policyholder and Liberty Mutual responsible to take care of our home/auto claims.

I finally LEFT Liberty Mutual insurance for good. I took ALL my family members and friends AWAY. For those of you want Liberty Mutual to be your home/auto, do yourself a favor. Do your research online. Just remember this and DO NOT be afraid. You buy insurance because you will need some insurance stand behind you and fix the problems with ease to you and NOT add headache to your issue.

We LEFT and much much happy with the current insurance company that we have now. My new insurance company name start out with letter "A-i-A" (sorry, I am not sure ConsumerAffairs will post my review. But I am NOT promote the whole name spell out) and on top of my home policy I get a check dividend just last 02/2017 was $305.00 because they treat us like a stakeholder. Anyway, I just want to share my bad past experience and hope that you can find one will help and stand behind you in the future.

Start out canceling my home policy. They do not inform me about the changes that would affect my car policies and increases. When I called to get that changed they screwed that up and I didn't find out for another month and they would now refuse reverse fees. Now when I'm changing I don't insurance is. Now when I called to cancel the representative told me I was current and I want only thing but just in the slim chance that I would have a bill they would send me out a paper bill.

Now I receive the paper bill. It's seven dollars more than my monthly bill was and they are almost 3 times the amount of my new insurance company is even charging me for better coverage and lower deductible. When I called customer service to ask them questions customer service was even getting confused about why and how it is billed. Nobody could give me a straight answers except for "this is the way it is and this is what you owe" Let alone the troubles I had with them when my car got broke into.

I called the claim department. The first person I talked to got the information, then transfer me to another person. His name is Robert **. So we started the claim. I told him I had 3 broken Windows. He asked if they happened at the same time, of course I told him the way they happened. He said "so then the windows didn't brake at the same time." I said "well not exactly." He said "well we are going to file 3 different claims" which the deductible is 500 hundred dollars per claim which means that Liberty Mutual will raise my insurance fee and I'm gonna end it up paying out of my pocket for the broken windows. I do not recommend Liberty Mutual. As they say in their TV ad I didn't pick the wrong insurance policy I picked the wrong insurance company. I have been their customers for about ten years and this is how they treat their customers - bad, bad, very bad.

The worst insurance company to deal with and the people working there are liars. Stay away from this company. I am cancelling their service.

What happened to the American people helping one another? I have had Liberty Mutual for over 17 years and never once filed a claim. The past month has been hell with them. I had water damage that I found out created black mold and crumbling rot. I took care of half of my roof project last year as I couldn't afford to do it all. This past month was where all the damage occurred. I spent $17,000 on this as I was out of state and the company had my whole side of my house open due to black mold and rot.

When I called Liberty Mutual they would not help in anyway. I sent receipts from reputable companies listing the problems and what had to be fixed. I sent pictures as well. Finally Gary ** says he will come out, thinking he would see the damage and hear my story he said he would only give me money to fix one cupboard and a 12x4 piece of drywall. I asked why he even came out, his response.... to meet me. Great. I took off a day of work to meet Gary **. I then asked for his supervisor Heather **. Apparently she didn't like my survey and wanted to discuss but did not help me. After a week of trying to get her I said I will call her supervisor, hence a quick return call from Heather again doing nothing but talking about my survey. I left 2 messages for Andrew the head supervisor and nothing.

I am canceling my policy. I can't believe after all these years they couldn't help me a little. When I said the other part of the roof wasn't done. Heather said it would have to cave in before they could do anything. So basically let the fire burn then try to put it out. What is wrong with thinking? I have children, work and am doing my best for a life, now I need to save up 5,000 more dollars to fix other half of roof before I let it cave in on my kids like Heather was basically saying and I still owe 10,000 from fixing old problem. If they would fix water damage to my one cupboard and little piece of wall why not the rest. They claim because I already fixed it.... well yes black mold and children don't mix so of course I took care of it. Go elsewhere, do not trust their commercials. They leave you high and dry.

My husband I cancelled out insurance with Liberty Mutual over a month ago. A check was supposed to be sent back then for mortgage premium. I called twice inquiring about the check and girl told me yes it was mailed a few days after canceling. Now a month later my husband calls... check was mailed to an address we had 6 months ago in another state! Yes, I'm angry. Last days she needs to reinstate policy to correct the address. Address in the other state was NEVER given to LM and never insured under them. How and why did that use an address that was 6 months old in another address. Then a man calls back this morning and says that I owe for our auto policy, also cancelled a month ago. I explained that refunded me at the time for that policy as well and now that want a payment. Don't insure with Liberty Mutual or watch your billing and policies VERY closely!

They are not accusing me of anything, nor was the fire my fault. They have raised my premium over the course of 6 years from $1,100 to $2,400 and the recent claim has been my only claim. Five months since the fire and Liberty Mutual is not there to help. I am without a house, and apparently I have to start begging friends for help to get my house fixed.

We purchased a Home and auto package from Liberty Mutual about 3 years ago. During these three years, we have never had a claim nor have we had any tickets. We noticed last year on our homeowners it went up, due to inflation. Ok fine. Then this year in June my auto payment that is taken directly from my acct went up. Not just a little, A LOT! So I call them. Our vehicle policy went up $650 a year. Never having a claim or a ticket, I'm furious. Their only explanation to me is it's a State Increase. Even the lady I talked to thought it was a bit extreme. So we find a new insurance company, Nationwide, who ends up getting us a policy for almost &1000 dollars less than what we were paying. That's not the end... we call Liberty Mutual to cancel our policy September 1st. They say we owe them for September for auto and will be receiving a final bill.

They also tell us we will be receiving a check in the mail for a refund for our mortgage insurance. We receive the bill 2 days later. The check on the other hand, still has not gotten to us almost 40 days later and 2 phone calls. First time they mailed it to the wrong address. Hmmm. Second time we call Elizabeth **. Says she will mail us the check, instead she reactivates our policy applying our refund to a policy that we closed, but I'm sure they will want their final payment within 40 days for the auto payment. Ummm can you say circus! Get it together. I will NEVER recommend these clowns! We are notifying our attorney.

I bought my house for 136k and their replacement cost was 526k. They wouldn't lower the replacement cost so I called Allstate. In 10 min I lowered my premium to 1400. They are rip off artists.
