Six months ago we applied for a homeowners policy and were accepted. Halfway through the policy period (twelve months) their requirements had somehow changed and the premium was increased by 80 percent (retro-actively of course). When I disagreed with the determination, I was immediately cancelled for whatever arbitrary reason they determined at the time. They then have the gall to demand that I pay the difference, or a portion thereof, AFTER they cancelled the policy. That's in addition to what I already paid them according to our original agreement. I was told that the company is losing money. Really? Is that somehow my fault? I paid them a thousand dollars for six months of coverage and have never made a claim. I don't know what planet these people are from, but they certainly do not know how to run a business. This is a terrible company. Avoid them at all costs.

My daughter was in a car accident on December 6, 2014. She turned right on a green light and proceeded to drive toward an intersection with a green light. Out of nowhere, a driver ran a red light into the intersection where she had to slam on her brakes to avoid an accident. Unfortunately, she hit the other car and was quite shaken up. The police came to the scene and ticketed the male driver that ran the red light. His insurance is Indiana Farm Bureau. I immediately called my insurance company to report the incident; IFB did not contact me for WEEKS. They claim there is a "light dispute" trying to place the blame on my daughter. What????
When the claims representative called my daughter, she was trying to place the blame on her which is ludicrous. This is a cut-and-dried case of IFB's client running a red light and causing an accident. There is $3,100 damage to her car with another $350 damage to the engine. The agent repeatedly asked if the car was already damaged. There is clearly an intent for Indiana Farm Bureau not to pay for their client's mistake. We will see them in court. I will also submit a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and our state government for fraudulent activity.
PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR COMPLAINT TO THE BBB as well as your state government office.

Lucky me... I have had 3 bad experiences with Farm Bureau. I used to be a customer and had Farm Bureau home and auto coverage. They were less expensive than most which was a positive. Wow, talk about getting what you par for! As a customer, I had to make 2 claims and Farm Bureau didn't pay either of them. I ate one but decided to contact our state Insurance Auditors office on the other one. I basically had to force them to pay the claim. Ultimately, the complaint to the auditor's office worked as I received a check. I dropped them immediately and told everyone I know never to do business with them.
About 6 weeks ago my friend's daughter was driving down a 2 lane street. Another driver (who has Farm Bureau pulled out in front of her which resulted in a t-bone accident). The cop issued one citation: To the Farm Bureau driver. 6 weeks later and the claim has gotten nowhere. Farm Bureau feels that their driver was not 100% at fault. REALLY? Apparently, in their world it is okay to ignore a stop sign and just pullout no matter if someone is coming. I implore anyone and everyone... STAY FAR AWAY FROM FARM BUREAU!!! They are horrid. I cannot emphasize this enough. IMO, all insurance companies are inherently evil but this one wrote the book.

On November 9, 2014 I was backed into by a driver who has Texas Farm Bureau Insurance. He was very nice and gave me all of his insurance and contact information. I took my 2004 Tahoe to Magnolia Paint & Body for the repairs which at first look were only to the rear driver-side door. When the body shop started the repairs, some electrical damage was found and they filed with the insurance to cover those costs as well. On December 9, 2014 - I was notified that an adjuster from Texas Farm Bureau Insurance was going to go to the shop to look at my vehicle. It is now December 17, 2014 - I am still in the rental car and now I am being told that the repairs will not be covered. All Texas Farm Bureau has done is drag their feet so that the repairs don't have to be paid.

My daughter was in an accident which was determined absolutely no fault of hers. However, Farm Bureau does not operate in good faith in resolving the claim. I would recommend another insurance company that has a better reputation. Agent is great, but Jefferson City corporate folks are crooks.

I am not a client of Farm Bureau but am in litigation with them now. Their insured was cited for driving reckless and rear ended me while I was at a dead stop. As you can imagine being at a dead stop and getting rear ended with a driver going 50 plus mph not looking where he was going can cause a pretty major accident. 4 cars totaled because of their insured thinking something was more important than paying attention. How do you think Farm Bureau acted? They should have been all over getting things taken care of but instead I had to go after the insured and he was all over his own insurance company to handle the claim.
Now over a year later with still having pending issues, my Mother was parked in a parking lot and another one of Farm Bureaus insured hit her. He was very apologetic and said he just wasn’t paying attention. When I arrived and saw he had Farm Bureau I warned my Mother that it was going to be a long road ahead. Sure enough the adjuster Kevin has been nothing but RUDE and LAZY when it comes to handling her claim. So enough is enough. It’s time to get the word out about our experience with Farm Bureau.

Farm Bureau refused to fight, is saying it was cheaper to pay her. It surely wasn't cheaper for me. My insurance was cancelled and tripled, was with them since I was 16. I'm 62 now.

l was with Farm Bureau for years, but have change my auto last year as they went up so much. When I ask why, my agent literally told me I was now 65 and they went up. I have not filed a claim but now I am being penalized because I am a senior. Is that discrimination? I went with another agency. Now for 2015 the home insurance went up from $643 to $873 - a 35.7% hike. Plus the $40.00 membership fee. I think they have gotten away from caring about the fair treatment of their customers and use our money for the lobbyist. Playing politics is costly, it just a shame whoever is making the decision can fall back on the excuse of cost of claims, playing and paying out our money on politics. I had the misfortune of allowing my escrow company chose our insurance company and they chose Farm Bureau for our homeowner's policy. We have only TWO calls in to them in the past year and each time, it was a dire situation with water: first time, well pump; second time - water leaking from a pipe in the wall. BOTH instances left us without any water while waiting for a response and BOTH times we are forced to rely on our own resources to find a repair person. That means that the insurance company will NOT honor the claim: regardless if they have not responded to our emergencies; regardless of the fact that we are living without water for our home while we get idiotic "canned" responses from phone operators telling us that they are getting "someone" to contact us. NO ONE CALLS!
The first instance, someone showed up at our house THREE DAYS LATER and today, all they keep telling us is that everyone is out of the office because it is Saturday and we can't even expect any conversation (let alone repair!) until Monday...once again THREE DAYS without water. I am going to our escrow company first thing Monday morning and getting rid of these WORTHLESS people who take our premiums but do not make any effort to serve the client.

My wife and daughter were on the interstate and were witness to a single car incident that nearly involved them in a very serious crash. A driver driving recklessly at high speeds in wet conditions spun her vehicle crossing a few feet in front of them from the right lane to the grass covered median and on 40 yards crossing two lanes of oncoming traffic to the far shoulder. Fortunately, my family was not involved in any impact & it appeared that the reckless driver avoided impact with any other vehicles. Not knowing if the driver involved was injured, my wife called 911 to report the incident in case she needed medical attention. The highway patrol contacted my wife & collected our daughter's recollection of the event, contact & insurance information. He also told her that the driver following my family gave the same account of the incident & reported the other driver as reckless. He told her she would be on the report as "a non impact vehicle" & told her how to obtain a copy of the report. He ended the call by saying that she would not be hearing from him again & she has not.
My daughter has attempted to obtain a copy of the incident report but it was not yet available. However, my wife received a letter from ** Claims Rep for Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Co of 4450-A N Highland Ave Jackson, TN 38305 stating "investigation of the above accident indicates that you are legally responsible for the resulting damages." The letter further states that "TN Farmer's Mutual Insurance Co has paid the above amount, which includes our insured's deductible." The heading of the letter states "Amount Due: Pending".
I find it interesting that neither my wife nor daughter have received a citation resulting from the incident that they witnessed, yet Farm Bureau has found my wife guilty of "causing the resulting damages" (which have yet to be determined) and my wife was not even driving at the time the incident occurred. In closing, I would like to say that it is a sad state of affairs that if you take the time to call 911 for the welfare of someone who is driving aggressively & recklessly & consequently loses control of their car, you could receive a threatening letter from Farm Bureau Insurance.

Our insurance premium was due on 9/25/2014. I paid our membership dues on 10/8/2014, but was not allowed to pay insurance premium. I was told that our insurance had been cancelled due to nonpayment. In the past if we were late, we received a letter stating when payment must be received (which is within 30 days). I was told it is 15 days if it is at renewal time. REALLY?!! We have been with this company for 14 years. We had 2 claims in the course of 14 years!!!! Both claims (after deductible) together may be $1800. Now while in the middle of a refinance, we no longer have coverage!! I feel Chris ** does not have a dedicated bone in his body!! 18 days and he cancels our coverage. Wow! Now no one wants to cover our home or premiums are so high we cannot afford it. Why do we pay insurance if we can't file if something happens????? Farm Bureau is not a dedicated or fair company!!!!! If the terms about late payments were different, why were we not properly notified?

My family has been with Farm Bureau for 20 plus years with only a few minor claims, which only paid for a fourth of the replacement cost. My dad has had to replace a roof on his house due to wind and hail damage. An adjuster was sent to look at it and he was so fat he could not get on the roof to check the damage. He told the insurance co That it was just old. The roof was included in the premiums as covered. My argument was yes the roof was old but it was damaged by the hail. The pipes on the roof were beaten up and had indentions from the hail but that was not proof enough. The contractor pointed that out but did not make a difference. They had their minds made up that they were not going to pay. I fought this for six months but all I got was that they were being fair. It's fair if all you do is pay for nothing. I will immediately cancel this insurance. I would advise anyone to not go with farm bureau unless they don't mind getting screwed. Their standards are lower than a snake.

Me, my husband, and son was on Interstate 40 in Burlington NC when a drunk driver rear ended us and then fled the scene. I got his license plate number and an off duty police officer seen the entire accident and when he fled the scene. On Monday we filed claim to NC Farm Bureau - claim adjuster came out looked at the car and said he would call back on Tuesday. He never called back. I called him and he tells me he will get to it when he can. My husband calls him back and wanted to know why the delay. We were told by Jason the adjuster that we were being investigated. My husband asked him how are we being investigated for a drunk driving accident when the other driver was found about 20 mins later and arrested, his car seized and taken to jail. His blood alcohol was .18 the legal limit in NC is .08. The accident occurred at 9:30 at night. There were several 911 calls made that night.
The claim adjuster told us just because he was drunk does not mean he caused the wreck. They are telling us to file on our own insurance if want to hurry up and settle. We have the police report stating other driver was impaired. He hit us in the back on the interstate. We also talked to Regina ** and she said we were not injured. I said we had neck injuries and I have a bruised kidney. My son was in the backseat and my husband was driving and they are still saying we are being investigated. We were minding our own business and get hit by a drunk driver. It's my right to want to have my car fix.
I don’t understand - it’s like they are defending this drunk driver. We could have been killed. We have small children. They would have been without parents. How many innocent people are killed by drunk driver every day. I have my police report. I tried to give them an opportunity to do what they are suppose to do but I am in the process of getting an attorney.

We had auto and homeowners insurance with Farm Bureau. Our 24 yr old son moved in with us and he has a police record. First they offered us a higher premium rating it on his driving record. But then I guess they somehow found out about his felony and said they could not give us insurance anymore because of him and his driving record. He didn't even have a license, so I don't think that was the truth. Then a few months later we got a letter saying they were not going to be able to renew our homeowners due to too many claims in NC, so they were not going to be writing as many customers in NC... mmm... So what made them pick us out of all the farm bureau customers... what a coincidence... I don't think so.
I think those were just excuses they used to get out of continuing our coverage because they no longer wanted to insure us because of our son and USAA did the same thing to us, only they didn't beat around the bush. They came right out and said it was because our son. They even called my son a criminal and referred to him as "those people" on the phone with me and said they don't offer services to those kind of people and by giving us homeowners insurance and helping us they would be helping him too, so they said no insurance. My husband is retired military, 20 years in the army and because our son made some mistakes and got in trouble and we want to help him since he is now trying to get his life back on track, we are going to be punished and forced to make our son leave in order to get any insurance. How is that for treating former service men.
I asked if that was a question they asked everyone who applied for insurance... does anyone in your household have a felony, or police record? Of course USAA said no, I knew that but I wanted them to say it to me. I said well then you are insuring a lot of families who have someone in the home with felonies or records, so denying us is DISCRIMINATION! They said in NC they are legally allowed to refuse us and since they did know about our son, they would not insure our home. So I am angry and I don't know if it's legal or not but if it's not the same across the board for everyone and we are being singled out its discrimination. People get punished for their past in this country and they never let it go, even when they try to make up for it and change and now their family members get punished too...
I say let he who is without sin cast the first stone...and I am sorry I ever gave Farm Bureau and USAA our business and our money. Especially USAA which is suppose to back the military and be there to help them and their families..not be judgmental and condescending and discriminate...he is our son and we love him and want to help him and for that we are being discriminated against and punished... Just don't think its right and they should not be able to do this. Also my husband had a traumatic brain injury due to a motorcycle accident, he is disabled and I have to pretty much take care of everything and having extra issues like this to deal with are stressful, emotional and just not necessary..

My new 2015 Tahoe was rear ended Labor Day by a person insured through Texas Farm Bureau. On Tuesday, I called and filed a claim through the 800 number. The person I spoke with was very polite and courteous through the entire process. She told me an adjuster would be contacting me from the Brenham office. I was puzzled by that because I live in Splendora which is over 2 hours away. She also gave me the phone number of the Brenham office. 4 hours later, I called the Brenham office because I had not heard from anyone and was told my adjuster was in the College Station office (which again is about an 1 1/2 hour away from my home).
I was transferred to that office. The adjuster stated he needed to transfer my claim to an office in Conroe. He gave me the name and number of the adjuster to contact. He said to wait a couple of hours before calling, which I did. No one was in, and I had to leave a voice message. I called again around 4:00 p.m. and the phone still went to voice mail. I missed a day of work to take care of this and desperately needed a rental car in order to get to work the next day. It is now a day later and I have still not heard from the Texas Farm Bureau Adjuster.
When I spoke to my insurance company, I was told this is common for Texas Farm Bureau. In order to get the ball rolling and get my Tahoe repaired, I am having to file a claim with my insurance company who will in turn attempt to collect from Texas Farm Bureau. In the meantime, I am out a $500 deductible. The guy that hit me was at fault and received a citation so there is no question who should be taking care of the repairs to my vehicle as well as the rental car costs. I don't understand how Texas Farm Bureau can continue to be an insurance provider in the State of Texas.

I was shocked to see Farm Bureau up near the top of a recommended insurance company list. What??? This company might have been great at one time, but certainly not in recent years. We had policies with them for many years but finally dropped them. The longer we were customers, the worse the customer service was and our premiums skyrocketed even without claims. Our last experience consisted with them not changing coverages on our oldest vehicle. We called, faxed, recalled, sent verifications. Still we continued to be billed at the higher coverage and rate. We finally fired them and sought coverage with a better company. Then they even had the gall to sic a collection agency on us for the small portion of our premium that we didn't pay because they never corrected the balance as promised. Talk about adding insult to injury.
Now mind you, we are good consumers and have NEVER had a collection agency come after us. The collection agency agreed with us after they received details and immediately dropped the claim. Thanks, Farm Bureau, and Goodbye!! Other insured people beware! This is not a company to deal with! Thank goodness we never needed to file auto claims. This is a company not to be trusted again, ever.

First CS rep refused to take my claim because I did not have the make, model and year of the car (I did have the license number and the lady's policy number). After they did accept the claim, I was shorted 500 dollars (based on dealer's estimate). CS rep (Cheryl in Waco) then refused to answer or return my calls or those made by my ins. company. I have now had the car repaired. Had to use non OEM parts (which I have been told that in Texas an insurance company cannot force me to do). In December a drunk driver, one of Farm Bureau's customers hit our block wall as well as our neighbors. Needless to say after several calls to the companies representative, 1 call was returned via voicemail. After several attempts to call back, no one ever did. Long story short I filed a complaint with Victims Services in AZ. I could then get restitution from the person that hit the fence directly.
So, 6 months later I have a court date for the restitution hearing. A week before the hearing, I get a call from the representative leaving a message stating that we will get less than half of the money to repair the fence (we got an estimate). Well, it's so nice you could finally call since the defendant’s attorney called you???? Now Farm Bureau will depreciate it by 60%???? Excuse me we didn't ask a drunk to hit our fence. He says we can call our own insurance company! UM NO! Furthermore, they already paid the other guy's fence off, because he fixed it himself and wanted us to pay him to fix our fence...UM NO.
I called the victims services who indicated that we should not sign the check and are allowed to obtain restitution from the defendant. Guess we will wait to see what happens next week. It just boggles my mind that Farm Bureau doesn't call you back, then when the ** hits the fan, they want to try bullying you into accepting some low amount. If he would have called us back from the beginning, this could have been resolved. Funny, he says when the accident occurred, they came out; then why didn't you talk to us or send us a check 6 months ago?????
It seems to me Farm Bureau doesn't like to pay claims or contact victims of their clients. I WOULD NEVER HAVE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. To think I had an interview with this firm over 20 years ago. Thankfully I didn't get that job! Hope these people are out of business real soon!

My payment was due on March 31st and on April 8th, I get a notice that my daughter's insurance on her car was cancelled all the way back to March 13th and our other 2 vehicles March 26th! We have always taken advantage of what we thought was a 10-day grace period, but evidently we have none, because the letter of cancellation was dated April 5th... The kicker is that my daughter was in a minor fender bender, not her fault, she was rear ended, no damage, on March 20th.... So now the Insurance co. isn't wanting to send the letter of compliance to the BMV, so they want to suspend our daughter's license for no insurance!
How is it that our payment was due on the 31st but our insurance was only paid up until the 13th and 26th... Doesn't make any sense at all to me... We have an atty and we have filed a complaint with the IDOI, as well as the Home Office in Indianapolis. When we contacted an Atty, he said we were the second person to call that day with the same problem with them. It's not like my daughter was driving without any insurance... Until we received that letter, we had no clue! How is this fair? And I was in there on the 28th, nothing was said at all about anything, even being close to cancelling or being cancelled..... The service manager was very thorough explaining what had happened and giving his professional expertise on the subject and a list of parts and labor of what it would cost. The adjuster refused his estimate and told him that all injectors should not be replaced, only the cylinders that were misfiring.
The service manager explained again that anything short of what He recommended would be a patch job. The adjuster then stated He could not honor the claim because the water separator failed to function properly. Again the service manager explained that the water separator was only intended to separate condensation not a blast of water. Then the adjuster said He could not honor the claim because the fuel sample taken from the fuel tank was not pulled properly and was not placed in a sterile and proper container. I sent her copies of the Louisiana State Trooper's report clearly stating her insured, James **, was at fault. She knows this is not pending but is so unprofessional she refuses to pay my claim. What does it take to get my measly $1400 from Georgia Farm Bureau? Why is she allowed to refuse to pay? Tinesha ** is being petty and states her insured said he didn't do it. WHAT??? The police report which is a disinterested third party says he did. She lies and says the damage shows he wasn't at fault...WHAT? It is clear he was at fault. Now we take the word of an insured who changed his statement midway thru the investigation over a disinterested third party, namely a police officer? I just want my vehicle repaired. Ms. ** could easily pay my claim and subrogate with Avis Rental but refuses even though her insured was listed by the police as being at fault.
I just got a call from Georgia Farm Bureau adjuster Tammy offering to pay half the cost of my repairs. She clearly stated that the driver of my vehicle said the vehicle was hit twice. Tammy said this twice all the while knowing she was lying. Tammy has the statement of Christine ** who was driving my vehicle. She was adamant that GFB insured James ** hit my vehicle and was stopped before his vehicle was hit by the third driver, Kim **. Tammy outright lied and twisted the statement thinking I was too stupid to verify what occurred and GFB would get out of paying $700!!! Seriously? I would like to file a complaint on Tammy ** as well for fraud. She knew she was lying when she offered to pay half my repair costs.

I submitted a small claim for a cell phone and was denied after about 2 weeks of waiting. I called inquiring about the claim after about a week and was told I was 'angry' towards them. I have had several bad experiences with this company. First I was charged for a hit and run, which caused my insurance to increase. I was the victim but Farm Bureau wrote me up as if I caused the damage. I was also told that my premium would decrease once I paid for somebody else damages this past June 2013. I hate a lying insurance company and one that rips people off. I always pay my bills and been with the company for years, but no relief. I believe that this company rips off black people. This company that is located in Rochelle, GA.
Another problem of concern is that GFB would not help a church out due to the building shifting. This building started shifting after some major weather our community faced. The insurance company sent some inspectors out that did not do their job correctly. Abbeville and Rochelle, GA are small towns and I suggest that this city be audited because some things are not right and unfair to certain people. I have a lot more to say about this company, something should be done about this action. Providing quality service is what the company states, but yet small communities are allowed to rip off people. Justice must be served and it's not right to mistreat people.

I have been a member of Farm Bureau Insurance for the past 18 years carrying auto, home and life insurance with them. Up until the last year, we had really good customer service as well as claim service. Our problems started when my son got close to driving age. Farm Bureau took it upon themselves to raise our auto insurance premiums by adding our 15-year-old son to our policy without our consent or even notifying us of their actions. My son had not even started his driver education course yet, therefore was not even driving.
I tried numerous times to reach someone about the situation and they continued to put me into a voice mail and the premiums continued in the meantime. I got tired of leaving messages that were never returned, so I put my husband to work at calling them. This situation went on over a two-month period, so we continued to pay our regular premiums less the additional charges they added for our son. My husband was finally able to talk to a live person and he was told that we would have to pay the outstanding balance due on our son in order to keep our entire policy from cancelling. When my husband let him know that we would switch to another insurance company before paying for something we did not authorize nor need at the time, he finally offered another option that he would need to ask about.
He said if we were going to get other insurance quotes, he wasn't even going to ask about it though, so of course my husband agreed not to get any other quotes. A few more days went by and he called back and said we could sign an exclusion form stating that our son was not driving and it would take a little bit, but then a credit would be issued. Sure enough, we eventually got a credit. With all of the poor customer service we received during this time, I continued to tell my husband that we should really look for another insurance company, because if the customer service is this bad, what are the claims going to be like if we have an accident. We continued to stay with them.
Just in August, I made a simple mistake and accidentally paid our gas company the premium for our insurance because they were right next to each other on the online bill pay. I soon received a statement in the mail from Farm Bureau stating that our insurance had lapsed and we did not have car insurance effective as of August 18th. I immediately got online and checked out our banking payments and realized the mistake I had made. I had my husband call Farm Bureau the next day to find out what we needed to do to ensure our coverage was reissued. They lady he spoke with said she thought he could just make the payment and the policy would re-start. She said she would have someone call us though. We made the payment the same day he spoke with her.
As usual, no one ever called us, so we assumed the policy was reissued. Today in the mail, I received a letter from Farm Bureau dated September 6th that they had received our payment and applied it to our policy but it was not enough to reissue our policy. They even sent us a small refund check back. So, for half a month, we have been driving around without insurance not even knowing it! We are so thankful that we did not have an accident as we had no idea we were uninsured all this time. They sure did take our money though, and gave us terrible customer service!
Shame on you, Texas Farm Bureau, for treating such a longtime, good faithful policy holder of 18 years, like crap! I'm sorry I've sent so many clients your way over the years. I will make sure to enlighten the people I have sent your way as well as share the news of the poor customer service with people I encounter. I would be scared to know what the claim service is like!

I have been insured with Farm Bureau Insurance for years and have never had any problems, until now. I have 2 vehicles insured with them, a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire and a 2000 Jaguar S-Type. I had found a great deal on a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix and bought it that very night, it was a Thursday and was blessed enough to sell my '99 Sunfire in the same night. Since my tag transfer has to be done in a county 45 minutes away from where I live, I went ahead and drove the just purchased Grand Prix to work the next morning, which is an 8am-5pm job. I would have drove the Jaguar but it is in another county as well. The plan being that I would drive the Grand Prix to work on Friday, go over to Farm Bureau on my lunch break and have this Grand Prix put on my insurance policy.
Well, the very unprofessional lady at the very front agent desk by the name of Crystal told me that she could not insure my vehicle without it being registered by the state in my name. She also stated that "by Tennessee State Law, you are allowed 30 days to get this vehicle switched over in your name and still be covered within that 30 days if anything were to happen, meaning a wreck or anything to where insurance would be required. Since you only have liability, it will cover liability only." So I thought, Great! Since I was already paid up until 1.5 months from that point, I'll wait a little closer to the 30 days since I live 45 minutes away from the court house and I work the same hours as the court house hours of operation. 2 weeks later, I was speeding and got pulled over by a state trooper. Long story short, I still received a ticket for not having proof of insurance. Of course he tells me that if I just bring proof of having coverage on this day of getting pulled over that the case would be dismissed for not having the proof of insurance.
On the next business day, I go back to the same location and speak with the same girl that I did a couple of weeks ago. She states that "I don't know how you're going to get that proof of insurance because if that vehicle is not on your policy then that vehicle is not covered under insurance so I can't give you anything because your vehicle was in fact not insured with us." I reminded her that SHE was the one who ASSURED me that I would be covered for 30 DAYS BY TN STATE LAW. She said, "Well I don't really know what the law is, I just know it's a law." So when I started telling her how I felt betrayed because I came there in the beginning to put insurance on my vehicle THAT DAY but she says no that she couldn't and that I shouldn't be concerned with it for 30 days. This lady literally stated "by TN State Law" so many times that I had asked her to verify the coverage in that 30-day window.
Well she sure sounded like she knew what she was talking about on that day, but when I go back wanting the proof to take to court she was very unhelpful, did not care that she had bold face lied to a valuable customer, told me that I was wrong and that I must have gotten that from somewhere because she did not state that I would be covered for 30 days without the vehicle being on the policy. She even rudely picked up her phone while I'm in the middle of explaining what SHE SAID to call her boss to come on over. When he did, she starts telling him irrelevant information about my policy that I had to interrupt her and tell him the reason he was called over to the situation. I let him know about how rude she was being and kept rolling her eyes and speaking over me. Then, she has the nerve to look up at him and say, "I did get ugly with her, but it was because she told me I was wrong".
The manager was very unhelpful and took her side completely. I would not recommend Farm Bureau to anyone. They are manipulative and will not own up to their mistakes. And when knowing that they're wrong, they would still rather blame you and look at you like you're the idiot. The unprofessional individual that I dealt with was a heavy set girl with blonde hair and glasses by the name of ** located at 1113 Murfreesboro Road, Suite 415 Franklin, TN. Whoever the manager is there was very unhelpful as well. I did not catch his name but these people are not there to help you. Because of the experience, I dropped my policy that day and went with someone else. All I wanted out of this was honesty. If you screwed up, BE A BIG GIRL AND ADMIT IT. Because of her being ignorant and being stuck in her ways that she must never be wrong, she lost a valuable customer.

My wife and I had our car backed into at church. We traded information with the driver, and called her insurance (Farm Bureau) the next Monday. I spoke to her agent, and explained that I was calling him on the advice of my insurance company, who had determined that we were not at fault. He told me that he would have to "do an investigation" but warned me that "parking lot cases" were typically "no fault." I didn't hear back from him the next day, so I called him back. He told that as there was no police report, it was our word against hers and we should go through our insurance. I explained that we were not moving and asked how this could be a "no fault" case. He reiterated that I should call my insurance (GEICO). He basically said that unless we could prove something, he wasn't helping us.
At no point did he take my statement of what happened, nor my wife's. At no point was any claim opened or was I given a claim number. So, we called GEICO, who promptly informed us that police wouldn't come out for most parking lot incidents, so it was ridiculous for the agent to require this. Furthermore, they told us that there was no reason to think that an accident is "no fault" just because it happened in a parking lot. She was also able to give us a number for Farm Bureau's claim department, which, by the way, the agent never gave us. I suspect that the agent was simply trying to get us to go away, deny every possible claim and see if people will go away. Unfortunately for him, my wife and I can be quite tenacious. Three weeks ago, I purchased a new car. I was returning from work on a busy highway in Colorado. A work truck that was a few vehicles in front of me locked up its brakes and the truck following the work truck rear-ended it. Both vehicles swerved and eventually pulled to the left side of the highway. I did not hit either vehicle, but a heavy iron metal piece of equipment was ejected from the rear-ended pickup and landed in front of my vehicle, which I hit and was lodged under my vehicle, disabling my vehicle. The vehicle, which rear-ended the first vehicle, was cited for following too close. I contacted Farm Bureau insurance of Colorado and was told a claims agent would contact me in a few days.
The following Monday, I did receive a call from a claims agent who discussed the incident and then told me that I could have avoided the accident and they had no claim against the cited driver (who held State Farm insurance). I had my damaged vehicle towed to the dealership in which I purchased the car and asked to attempt to restore the car to recently purchased condition. Later in the week, I was contacted by the dealer and told of the damage and the estimated repair cost (about $7,000.00). I was also told by the dealer that the claims agent from Farm Bureau had come to the dealership to review the damage and told the dealer that they would not cover replacing parts on the vehicle that were damaged; instead, if I wanted parts (e.g., cracked front bumper, etc.) replaced, that I would need to replace at my own cost. The Farm Bureau agent supposedly even questioned inexpensive replacement parts, such as screws, to repair/replace damaged parts.
A few days ago, I was contacted by State Farm and told they were covering the accident. I was contacted today by my Farm Bureau agent who apparently knew nothing about State Farm covering the accident and began the conversation insisting I could have avoided the accident. When I asked her how she determined I could have avoided the accident, she failed to answer the question and even stated she hasn't "yet" reviewed the highway patrol report or reviewed any evidence whatsoever. In short, it’s very frustrating - paying a great deal of money to an insurance company over the years, and when needing assistance, receiving accusations and insinuations of intentionally poor driving behavior with no evidence to back up the claim.

I have had Farm Bureau Insurance since my parents signed me up when I was 16. In 31 years of driving with a clean record, I only had two claims, both very minor. Recently, I was the victim of a broadside accident that was the fault of an uninsured motorist who was speeding down the emergency lane in an attempt to get ahead of rush hour traffic. My car was totaled, and I was injured. The uninsured motorist received a citation, and that was it! He left the accident scene in his vehicle which had only minor damage, and I left the scene in an ambulance with no car.
I reported the accident to Farm Bureau. The next week, I received a rental vehicle to drive for up to three weeks. I was told by my agent that I should begin looking for another vehicle, never mind the fact that I barely felt like moving. I began searching for used vehicles of certain models and with low mileage. I soon found a gem of a car in excellent condition with very low mileage, which I planned to purchase.
I did not feel comfortable purchasing another vehicle until a settlement was made, so I tried for several days to contact the adjuster to find out how much I would receive and when. Numerous calls were made, messages left, emails sent, and still no response. Those that I did talk to acted as if they did not know who was at fault, or that the other driver was uninsured. As requested, I spent $10 on the police report to give Farm Bureau, only to be told that they didn't need it. Meanwhile, as the phone tag game continued, the car I was going to purchase had sold. It wasn't until I contacted my agent and complained about the situation that I received any communication from the adjuster.
By the time I finally received the settlement check, I had missed out on another good deal on a used car and only had a few days left to find another car before the rental had to be returned. Despite the cold and rainy weather and the pain I still felt, I managed to purchase a used car, although not one that I would normally have chosen nor one that I like as much as my previous vehicle.
My insurance rates immediately skyrocketed, as did that of the other driver on my policy, who has not made a claim since being on my policy. We each made separate calls to inquire about the increase and were each given differing explanations. The bottom line is that we, the long-time paying policy holders, who are upholding the law, are paying for an accident that was caused by an uninsured motorist who chose to use the emergency lane as his personal freeway.
I offered to obtain an attorney, but was told that: (1) Farm Bureau would go after the uninsured; and (2) if the driver didn't have insurance, he likely wouldn't have anything else, thus it would be a waste of time. The last time I inquired, no effort had been made to even contact the uninsured about the possibility of making payment. I understand that accidents cost insurance companies a big amount of money, and that someone has to pay for that; but it seems like the insurance companies would make more effort to make the uninsured pay for the damages they cause us poor schleps who have faithfully paid our premiums year after year.
I am extremely thankful that I was able to obtain another car, that there were no passengers in my vehicle, and that I wasn't more seriously injured (I still have pains in my back and side, but I'm afraid to see a doctor again for fear of what it might cost me); however, I feel that the uninsured came out much better than I did. He wasn't injured, didn't have to buy a new car, received only a citation and is probably out speeding around town without a care in the world for all the pain, expense and trouble that he has caused for me.

We have never had a claim on any insurance and have been insured for over 10 years with USAA. I wanted a second opinion as "I don't think" is a satisfactory answer. And both times I was told that someone had just entered it into the computer wrong. Further, since the problem in April, I have been having them read both the bank routing number and the account number back to me. When it happened the second time and the lady told me that they had entered it into the computer wrong, I pointed out I had the numbers read back to me and they were correct. I then asked if they re-entered them into the computer for some reason and was met with 30 seconds of silence.
Also, any time I made a payment by phone on its due date or a day or two later, they always sent out a notice of non-payment. I got no such notices when both checks supposedly bounced. So what are they up to? I don't know, but I suspect that had there been a claim filed during the month of the insufficient fund check, they would have used that as excuse to deny the claim. My repair man told me he was treated differently with my car than any other claim; he has had "wonder why". He was even asked by the adjuster how much experience he had "like it's any of his business". Repair man finished my car but when I got it back, I noticed my car made a noise it has not made before. I took my car to the Nissan place. I was told the transmission was going out. Mind you, my car is a 2010, almost a practically new vehicle. I called my adjuster who didn't hesitate to tell me they were not going to replace my transmission! We argued back and forth on the phone and I asked why not because it was due to the accident. He made a phone call and then called me back and said, "Oh, your transmission is under warranty so who has the warranty will pay for it."
While my car was being fixed for the transmission, the guy noticed my battery was also busted due to the wreck. I paid for it out of my pocket hoping to get reimbursed by Farm Bureau with no problem. I was told by one of the representative that he will have to go look at the battery to determine if the battery was damaged due to the wreck. Also, I might not get but a portion of my money back from the battery, etc. I thought I was paying for "full" coverage, not "portion" coverage. Throughout this whole process, I feel I have been treated like a criminal instead of a victim. I have fussed and argued about unnecessary stuff through this whole process.

My mother has had this policy for several years before she developed dementia and had to be put into a nursing home. I was told by Farm Bureau that I could take over the policy and continue making monthly payments. I have been doing this since Oct. 2010. These monthly payments are not cheap. As my mom ages, the price goes higher. I have made these payments, and the increases, when they were due.
When I walked in to make a payment on Oct 14, 2012, I was told that my insurance had been cancelled. I was shocked, to say the least. I let them know that I have made all the payments and there was no way that I was delinquent. I asked to speak to the person I've always dealt with in the past, but they told me he had retired a month earlier. I was totally devastated with the news; the person I was talking to did not have any answers for me. I have been calling and leaving messages for the past week, but he has never returned my call. I have all the receipts for the payments I've made. He did agree that I paid it like clock-work, but would not give me any answers as to why they cancelled my insurance.
I am totally beside myself knowing that my mother is in a nursing home without any insurance to put her away if she was to pass. I have worked hard to make sure that this would not happen and have sacrificed tremendously for her to have a decent funeral. I accepted this policy due to the health of my mother and her age, which is 85 years old. I do not have a clue as to when my mother took this policy, but I do know she has had this policy for several years. The policy is for $25,000 and I just don't understand what to do, or if I can do anything. If the policy was cancelled for delinquent payment, then it would have been before I took charge. If that was true, then why would they continue to take my money for over 2 years, and then cancel? I cannot get any answers. If you can be of help, please contact me. All if this seems very fishy on their part.

I have been a Farm Bureau customer for 10 years with no problems until April 2012. In the early morning hours while I was at work, I received a phone call that my house was on fire. When I arrived at my house, the fire department had already stopped working and my house was totally gone. I reported the loss to my local Farm Bureau office later that day. The next day, I had to meet with a Farm Bureau rep from the regional office. She was polite but not really nice. I had to do paperwork and she gave me inventory sheets, in which she told me I had 30 days to write down everything in my house, where I bought it, how much it cost, when I bought it and how much it cost to replace.
After I turned that in, Farm Bureau made me do a 5-hour long under oath with their attorney, a deposition in which he drilled me like I was on trial for murder. Farm Bureau has sent me numerous papers to sign and send back since then. It is now Sept. 26, 2012 and Farm Bureau still has not settled my claim. I am a single mother with 2 small children. My insurance is taken directly out of my account so it is never late and I have never had a claim on my house. I think this type of treatment to people who are trying to work and make a good life for their families should be against the law. Farm Bureau should not be able to just hold your life in their hands and play with it.
When you have a total fire loss, your local office no longer has any control and doesn't get told what is going on. In my case, I didn't get told anything either and they will not return any calls. Beware of Farm Bureau, they will be really nice when they are taking your money but when something bad happens, they will treat you like dirt and leave you homeless.

Farm Bureau accepted an auto accident claim and gave me an estimate. After towing my auto to an auto body shop, I called to see about a rental. After 4 hours, I did not get a return call. I called the supervisor, and I got no response. Finally, I spoke with Patrick, who in 5 minutes decided not to pay the claim. The reported damage was $800 (which was low-balled because the estimate did not include the front grill and hood repairs). Then I was told because the homeowner turned the claim over to them and they refused the claim, I cannot go after the homeowner.
First, there is no way they could determine I was at fault. The police at the scene clearly told the homeowner and I, that the child involved caused the damage. This was truly a no-brainer. Second, if this company would do this to me, a victim of circumstances, there is no way I would want them to insure me. They are in my opinion, based on this experience, greedy and non-caring of the parties involved.

For a lack of good judgment, my neighbor's son worked us to move to FBFS. It's all about personal service and your agent will be available 24 hours a day in the event of an emergency. We switched all our policies (including two motorcycles) and less than two months later, he bailed out and quit. As weeks went by, I tried to contact the local Rio Rancho office to find out who was my agent and ensure all was okay. No call backs. I emailed customer service and were assured my case would be taken care of. Still no call backs. I called customer service and they assured me they would contact my agent. Still no call backs, never a return call or not a response from anyone in the company.
Over the last six weeks, I had a concern about one of my auto policies. I called and left voicemails at the office (the receptionist quit or was let go or whatever, so no one was even around to keep open the branch door) and no return calls. I emailed customer service to ensure it would be handled; no return calls. After about the third attempt through customer service, I demanded they contact someone for me to speak to. They put me on hold and after about five minutes, a phone rang. The person who answered no longer even worked for FBFS. How is that for customer service? So, I canceled my policies and found out that my motorcycle policies had to be paid out in full, regardless of whether it was canceled one week in or 11 months. They had no problems finding the document that showed I signed up to it and I wished they put 1% of that energy into their customer service.
I asked them to reinstate the motorcycle policies and I'd ride it out for the rest of the year. No go. I need to move at least one of my vehicles back to FBFS before they would reinstate the motorcycles. So I'm eating $1,000 as I'd have to be committed to even think of trusting them with another vehicle. You expect some common courtesy and there has to be trust and faith in your insurance company when you have all your worldly possessions insured through them. Stay away. Save yourself the headache and heartache. You want to sleep at night knowing someone has your back in the event of an emergency. Imagine if I really had something happen that demanded immediate response. What an absolute embarrassment of a company. They give the insurance a real black eye.

After having our Home Insurance cancelled by State Farm (because we filed a claim for hail damage), our State Farm agent recommended her good friend, Ms **, from Farm Bureau Insurance. We met with this person, told her our tale of woe and anger at State Farm (22 years of being a customer, then receiving a form letter notifying us that we were booted). Ms. ** commiserated with us, took down the vital facts and our history with State Farm, had us fill out the necessary paperwork, and accepted our check for the first year's insurance.
After about three weeks, we received five letters (all duplicating each other) informing us that Farm Bureau had cancelled our insurance! They said that the reason was that we had had two claims submitted to State Farm, information that we had clearly outlined to Ms. ** at the time of our meeting with her. Farm Bureau gave us 30 days to find someone else. When I contacted the FB agent after numerous attempts, we talked. She said that she was being pressured by FB to have us drop our old car insurer, and to take up a policy with Farm Bureau, at about 125% increase in cost. I said, "Are you saying that Farm Bureau is holding our home insurance agreement hostage? That they would only consider revoking the cancellation if we purchased at least one car policy?" She said yes, but she would get back to me regarding details. You can guess the rest. She didn't get back.
I called every other day to determine what was going on. She always complained that she was too busy. Finally, she stopped answering my calls altogether. This behavior on the part of the agent and Farm Bureau was unprofessional and unconscionable. Home Insurance Companies are fast approaching the integrity levels associated with lawyers and used-car salesman.

Caledonia, Michigan Farm Bureau are not good people to deal with! We finally went to meet our new company appointed insurance agent. We originally signed up with Farm Bureau with an agent who mysteriously left the company. Anyway, the first question he asked us was, "Are you a graduate of a Michigan University"? Wow, talk about discrimination against the working middle class. So, we were denied a 10% discount since neither one of us was a college graduate.
After meeting with him (**), our rates went up and we had trouble with his secretary/receptionist ever since. They could not get our fishing boat properly insured but insisted it was a speed boat, which costs a lot more. He increased our 10 years plus auto for no reason. He also increased our premiums on our house for no reason. That's what we get for meeting our agent. We are in the process of changing agents and will never go back to the Caledonia, Michigan branch again. So beware people who do not hold a college degree. You will get screwed if you go to the Caledonia Office for insurance.

I was able to put them back in place, but the last few storms did damage I could not repair and caused some leaks. So I filed a claim. Farm Bureau came out. Then they sent me a letter saying there was damage, but it was caused by more than one storm and they will not fix it. Everyone around me had their insurance replace their roofs from hail damage from more than a year ago, but not Farm Bureau. They are a cut rate insurance company and I would say to all: stay away from their insurance!

Our adjuster, Rich, said we have "neighboritis." He refused to meet the contractor at our home. He just wants a bid sent to his office where he hides. We have him on camera entering the office and having his help tell us he is out of the office and has been gone most of the afternoon.
We have been with them for 21 years and were never late. Let the agent talk us into using him for all of insurance needs except for life and health. They are liars, scammers and cheats. Do not let a Farm Bureau crook tell you otherwise. We have now hired outside help and it sounds promising that this Rich, or I call him little ** the adjuster, will be paying for the hail damage and then some from his own pocket. Watch out for these eels. They are forcing the repair shops to put used parts in your vehicle repairs, that then fail and then forcing you to file an additional claim against yourself to get repairs done correctly. They are begging you to cash a partial check for house damage and then claiming you already settled when the full bill is submitted. Using subjugation to settle an accident when even though not your fault, they claim the other insurance company won't pay. They want you to file a claim against yourself, minus the deductible and raising your rates, and then suing the other insurance company behind your back for the full amount. Very unethical!

I've had an auto insurance policy with Kentucky Farm Bureau since I was 16. The first two years, it was under my father's name, but I still paid the premiums. When I turned 18 the policy was converted to my name. I had never had any claims (accidents) against my policy. I did have a few speeding tickets that were diverted by the courts, so they never ended up on my driving record. To my knowledge, I had never been late with a payment, and always paid my yearly membership dues on time. Over the years, I added two more policies with them, one for my home, and one for my wife's car. I usually pay premiums in three month increments. I asked that all three policies would be staggered (so I would not have a huge bill all at once) and that they would come due around the 28th of each month.
Last year, I was contacted by my county's office that they were having to issue new policies that complied with their new policy numbering system, therefore my three policies were effectively being canceled, and that I would have to come in and sign new policies at the same coverage and rates, as I had before. The secretary said this was more of a paperwork change than a change in my coverage or premiums. In August 2011, I went in and sign for the new policies. Everything stayed the same, or so I thought. My wife's car's premium was due at the end of September. I got a billing statement around September 10th, which was normal. I opened it up and saw the rates had not increased and glanced at the due date. I saw an 8, and it registered in my mind that it was due on the 28th. The same day, I asked for all my premiums to be due. I put the bill in my "to be paid" stack and figured. I would pay the bill around the 25th to 27th.
On Sept. 20th I got a notice in the mail from KFB that my wife's premium was past due, and it would be canceled if not paid in 30 days. I got the bill out and for sure the due date had been changed to the 18th. I immediately wrote a check for the premium, and mailed it out that afternoon. Going to the county office would have been out of my way for that day's activities. The next month, I get my check from my bank, showing KFB had cashed it on the 25th. I heard nothing more, and got my premium bills for my car and house at the regular times. On January 30th, I get my next premium bill for my car, and notice that it has risen to about $260. I looked over the bill, and notice my multi-car discount had been deleted. The next morning, I called my county office, and asked why my premium had raised, and why my multi-car discount had been deleted.
The secondary agent in the office told me my wife's car policy had been cancelled for non-payment. Instead of the policy just merely being late on the 18th, someone at the head state office decided, to go ahead and cancel the policy on the 18th with no notice. My wife had been driving for the past three months, with no insurance! She even used her unknowingly "cancelled" insurance card, when she renewed he car's license and registration in November. When I told her I had the cashed check from where I paid the premium. She told me that payment had been applied to my car's policy! I could re-instate my wife's policy for around $80 (a higher rate), but I said I would not pay it, since I had already paid it back in September. I asked her how come a customer of 24 years that had no previous late payments, could get cancelled so quickly with no notice. She did not reply.
This was not the first incident I and other family and friends have had with this office. I decided to check around with other insurance companies, and found a very respected company to do with business with from now on. I ended up getting much better coverage for my cars, and home with the new company for about what I was paying at KFB. I'm waiting on KFB to call me later this week, when both my house and my car policies are cancelled.

Adam failed to return calls or keep us posted on the progress of the claim or tell us any additional information needed to complete the claim. Then in August, the file was turned over to Jill ** in Durham. At first, she was very attentive, and cooperative. She stated she was waiting on the records from the last hospital, and then she could finalize the claim. On December 20, 2011 those last records were sent and received at her office. It is now February 6, 2012 and she is not returning our calls. She continues to drag her feet and make excuses that she is busy. I expressed my concern about the length of time this is all taking, and the unprofessionalism of Adam and herself not returning calls, or keeping us posted on the progress.
There is no reason this should be taking 7 months and still be ongoing. Something needs to be done ASAP. Farm Bureau is deceptive! In July 2011, I was a first time car buyer and the dealership recommended Farm Bureau. I was told that it would cost $65.00 to get my policy started so that I could drive the car off the lot and that my monthly payments would be around $119.00. I paid the $65.00 thinking this amount of part of my premium.
The next day, I made a trip into the Farm Bureau office to sign paperwork and was told that the $65.00 was a yearly "membership fee" and was told that in order to pay the premium in installments, I would have to sign up for auto-pay, otherwise, I would have to pay the entire $600 premium up front. I explained to my agent that it was imperative that I pay in installments and he arranged it so that I could pay this way and call in my payments each month.
Fast forward to January 2012, I called my agent in order to add a car to my policy and was told that he had left the company a few weeks prior. I was given the name and the number for his replacement, called and left a voicemail. No response. I called everyday for three days and not once were my calls returned.
Finally, my call was returned by an agent from another office and he informed me that my insurance had been cancelled. The cancellation was due to the fact that I had an unpaid ticket. When I was able to show proof that my ticket was paid in full, I was told that my old policy could not be re-instated. I was told that I could get a new policy to the tune of $146.00. This increase in premium was due to my unpaid ticket. I have left Farm Bureau and am very satisfied with my new insurance carrier.

I had no time to stop and crashed in to her rear end. Thanks to the cameras posted at the light all was caught on video and the fault was put on Angela ** for failing to yield the right of way. My car was a 1993 Mercedes Benz 190E, a classic in most peoples eye because it was the last year of this model. I had it for only about 3 months and I bought it because it was a one owner and only had 113000 miles on it and it was near mint condition. I paid $3500 for it and I knew that was above book value but it was what I wanted.
I suffered neck and back pains from the ordeal but nothing I thought was permanent. I waited till January 3, 2012 to go to the ER for my injury because the pains would not go away. The doctors took x-rays and determined that I had sprain neck and lumbosacral strain in my back. Although I had had back surgery in November 2011, my back was in recovery and was before this wreck getting better, but since the wreck I have many sleepless nights of my back and neck pains. Farm Bureau only paid my car off of about $1750 and gave me about $950 as settlement on my car and I kept my car so I can rebuild it. I soon found out that the damage was far more than I expected but I was able to pull the radiator support back and replace the radiator, put a new right side strut on it and replaced the headlight which cost me about $1500 and drive it for awhile till I can afford to buy something else.
I am presently on disability for diabetes and other related illnesses and I am on a fixed income and only receive enough money to pay my bills, and since I was late a few payments before the payoff was done I have no credit to buy a car. I never thought that if I was victimized by another driver I would go through so much pain financially and medically. I haven't settled with them as of today January 20, 2012 on personal injuries but the insurance adjuster assures me that I will not get very much. I have talked to lawyers but they all give me the same answer that because I had previous injuries that my chances of getting any settlement of any value would be very little. My back doctor thinks all my pains are due to the wreck and even he doesn't want to see me. I think that Farm Bureau insurance company is like a bandit and I feel like I have been robbed. I asked that everybody please read these complaints and think it over before choosing them as you insurance carrier.

Over the next year and a half, they came up with as many reasons to not pay, claiming I should collect workmen's comp. But none was available! After running her full list of non-paying reasons, my case was handed over to someone new! Then to the legal department. Finally, they said I had not sent in any documentation of loss wages. And after I did so, I was never contacted again.
I do not know where to turn to now. Can anyone help me? I sent a formal complaint to the Office of Insurance Regulations, and they are in the pocket of the Farm Bureau! In my last communication with an attorney, I was informed that the attorney in Texas (where the accident happened) was guilty of malpractice and I would have to take it to the courts.

The Monday before Thanksgiving this year, I was on my way to work on I-77 when traffic was slowing down. I had already started applying my brakes when in the course of nature, I sneezed. Five seconds later, I was stopped by the car in front of me that I ran bumped, and I mean bumped only. Both the other driver and I pulled off, looked at the damage to his bumper, which consisted of an indentation of where my license plate holder put a crease in the bumper and the 2 screw marks from the screws. We both agreed that police did not need to be involved. We exchanged information and we were on our way. I called my agent and told them what happened. Two days later, I get a call from the adjuster. He asked me a few questions and he then told me that the body shop came back with a quote of $1,859.00 for the damages. (1) I was shocked with the price, although Lake Norman Body & Collision is the highest in the area; and (2), I asked the adjuster to get another quote from another body shop. He said he would. That would be the last time I ever spoke with this mystery man. I called at least 6-7 times and he never called me back.
I called the office about a month later after I received my policy. Of course, my rates went up, so I wanted to find out what was paid out on the claim. Now, so you know, in the State of North Carolina, your rates will not go up if the damages are under $1,800.00; at least, that is what Farm Bureau Insurance told me. The total amount of the claim was $1,839.00. Now, for the next 3 years, I will be paying over $3,200.00 for an accident that should not have cost me anything. I even asked whether I could pay the difference in the cost over the $1,800.00 limit and was told that that was against the law. I could not contact the claimant or the body shop. It is very clear that Farm Bureau's intention is to take as much money and give as little help as possible. I have been with them for over 6 years now, and this is my first accident that was my fault since 1988. I have called to speak with the agent. He is little to no help at all. I have paid insurance to this company for over 6 years and this is the treatment I received.

My wife was hit by one of their insured who was asleep at the wheel. We contacted them about getting our car paid for and maybe a rental. After 6 messages, I stayed on hold until I talked to an adjuster. He was about as rude as I have ever experienced and said he was busy so just get in line. So far it has been a week and they won't return my calls.
I am lucky that I have good insurance thru Travelers so I can get my car paid for less the deduction. However, I have to wait for Travelers to sue Farm Bureau to get my deduct back. Tennessee Farm Bureau has the worst customer service I have ever received. This resulted to a totaled car, personal injury and loss of deduct.

I was involved in an accident with their insured. I inquired about a rental because my car had been towed and is on their lot for inspection. I was told that they could set up a rental but I would have to pay for my insurance on the car. Why am I still paying for something that was caused by their insured?
It had caused loss of work, doctor bills, prescription costs and now rental insurance bills.

We, my wife and I had at one time insured all our real estate and automobiles with Farm Bureau. In, September 2009, we filed a claim that our Rental Property at **., Durham, NC 27713 had been vandalized of all our copper plumbing and the heating coils of the air compressor. They told us that their company and in fact, no company paid for theft. We have never heard that before. In January 2005, we had the whole heating unit stolen and Nationwide Insurance installed a new heating unit.
We are no longer with this Farm Bureau Insurance because that is a piece of crock. The heat pack is connected to the house and they should have paid the claim. The date of loss was 09/30/09, a police report was on file, and I want anyone who has insurance with them to reevaluate their policies because they are not trustworthy. They have cost our family a lot of grief and turmoil to be treated in a manner as this.
The consequences are we had to purchase and have installed all new plumbing which is attached to the house and we have to purchase a new 3 ton Gas Pack which at this time we do not have the monies, because we still have to pay the mortgage and taxes and insurance. If, they had made it known that (Farm Bureau) that there is a difference between Theft and Vandalism when a policy holder takes out a policy then it should be disclosed, but they did not. So, I am telling everyone to peruse their policies and write down everything they say because they will tell lies.

I have had Farm Bureau Insurance for over 20 years. I insured my daughter when she started driving. My daughter is now 18, lives in her own place with her boyfriend, has a baby, and is graduating next week. I tried to drop her off my Insurance this month, and they would not let me. They said that I had to have proof that she has her own Insurance. So does this mean that if she chooses not to get her own Insurance that I have to carry her until I die? I am not legally obligated by any means to have her on my Insurance, so why can't I drop her? What right do they have to dictate that she stays on my Insurance?

In December, I totaled my 1999 Tacoma. I had the truck for several years and had dropped the full coverage due to the high mileage. Three months later, I bought a 2004 Tundra. I called to get the quote and they said it would be $880 every six months. I had other quotes for $200 less and asked why. He said the wreck ran my insurance up. They conveniently lost my defensive driver certificate that I had taken with my job. I was forced to go with another company. I am 32 years old and have been with them since I was 15. My father had been with them since he was 16 and my grandfather used them. My entire family has done business with them since well before the 1950's and this is how they treat long-standing customers.

My name is Lisa, and I am a citizen of Unicoi County, Tennessee. I am not sure that your office is the correct recipient of this letter, but in order to find someone who can help the consumers in rural areas of our country and state, I am writing to many offices and agencies. Please take the time to read this letter, as it is of great importance to the people of Tennessee.
I am writing this letter to your agency and many others as well as specific elected officials at local, state, and federal levels in order to raise the awareness of an injustice to the insured consumers of TN forced on them by the recently instated business practice that is being adopted and misused by Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee as a tool against the consumer to increase auto premiums at will. One that will have a direct affect on our local and state economy - and possibly national - and especially on the stimulation of the auto industry and on the 600,000 other policy holders of Farm Bureau of Tennessee alone.
The misuse I am referring to is the misuse of a consumer's credit report to enable insurance companies to suddenly and without warning, increase auto insurance premiums of already established and existing policy holders (as in my case, 25 years in great standing) because of no other factor than a decision to look at and use (only recently for the reliability of policy holders) an existing credit report that the company has deemed below standard and therefore making the policy holder a sudden risk to the company thus increasing the premium.
Please take time to read this account of my direct contact with this misuse and the fact that a family of above average means in excellent financial state, where both husband and wife have jobs, can be affected with this "less-than-perfect credit report." What the outcome will be of a family where job loss has occurred and the many people in our state that will be affected by this. And this is my attempt to get someone to listen and do something to change this or at least be directed to the person or agency or steps that might help initiate a change in this policy. Read the following scenario to see if this seems logical or fair to you:
A customer/family of 25 years has great standing with the insurance company, no lapse in policy ever, no late payments, has auto, home and life insurance policies with the same company, own their home valued at $300,000, paid off home loan in 15 years, just purchased in 2007 a new F-150 on credit (0% interest), spouse purchased new 2008 750i BMW on credit with no problem getting loan for 50,000+ trade-in (both insured at Farm Bureau for the last 2 years), paying out of pocket for son to attend college, have 0 credit cards or balances, has never or would never drink and drive, 2 or 3 auto claims (fender-benders/teen-age driver) max to date - none major and none at all in last 3 years, and policy premium actually decreased last year.
But, this same policy holder has been awarded a below-standard credit score according to Tennessee Farm Bureau Insurance Company's scale, because on their credit report, a disputed loan was made by someone using this person's credit information and this cannot be resolved despite consumer's best efforts. Therefore, the family "auto" insurance premium has in the last week increased by $200.00 yearly, because they are now a risk to the company, even though the disputed loan was there since March 2007 when they were not a risk and in fact an excellent client!
No, I did not mistype! Auto insurance. The credit score is now being factored into an insurance company's equation to figure the amount of the premium due on Auto insurance, regardless that the consumer has been a customer for the last 25 years and in great standing with the company. And although this customer had no trouble having a credit rating that could secure 2 new vehicle loans with 0% and 4% interest, Farm Bureau Insurance Company feels now after 25 years of service to us and by us, we have suddenly become a "risky" driver and must be charged $200 extra dollars to insure.
I see no logic to that kind of thinking at all. Could it be because the concept they are trying to pass off as logical is really founded on greed and dishonesty, not logic? But wait, I am not finished with this story.
That same 25-year customer, who is mentioned above, could now pay as much to be an insured driver and have the same premium due as the person with a DUI charge, citations, who has no job by choice, who lives off the government, who owns no home, and pays no taxes. But, forgive and forget all that. He does have that high credit score, which deems him a good driver, because he pays his insurance on time along with his one other monthly bill that the government gives him the money for.
Which person would you trust to be driving on the same road as your daughter, son, wife, or husband? After all, that is what matters where auto insurance is concerned, right? The better the driver's record, the lower the cost to insure? That is what I signed on for anyway, until they decided to change the contract without letting me know or be able to do anything about.
A consumer's credit rating is being misused by companies to fit whatever purpose they see fit - mainly as a tool against the consumer and this seems like a very dangerous game for our economy since the greediness of companies has already been proven many times over recently.
With the computer age at its peak and every day becoming more and more sophisticated, the cases of identity theft are at an unbelievable rate. Hackers are able to get a person's information as easily as we look up a phone number and developing new methods faster than the FBI can keep up. Knowing this and the damage that can be done to a person's credit from such an occurrence, not to mention the state of our economy, how can we allow one's credit score to be given this type of influential power in determining unrelated aspects of their lives and used in any way, shape, or form by companies at will?
I can understand if companies want to use it as a screening tool for identifying new customers, who might be a risk and choose not to write new policies to those who they feel might not pay or be a risk in some way. But I don't understand how companies with customers, who have had 25 years of established proof to that same company and multiple policies and have proven time and time again they are creditable clients and not a risk to their company as a driver or in any other way and have paid far more into the company at this point than the company would ever have to pay out, can apply the same scale of risk to that consumer as they would to a new applicant.
It is time someone steps up and stops companies from taking advantage of average hard-working consumers and doing as they wish with no accountability or rules and leaving the American consumer with no avenue of recourse or no one to turn to when wrong acts such as these are committed against our work force. This will directly affect our economy in a big way. Just sit back and watch or do something in your power to see that it is not allowed to happen.
But let's not forget who we are actually pinpointing here - insurance companies, not banks or credit unions. There is no real credit risk, anyway. They are not handing out loans or money to their customers. If you don't pay your premiums, you don't get insured. They'd drop you like a hot dish. So, what exactly is it they're risking anyway?
Imagine, with the economy the way it is now and the number of people losing and lost their jobs in recent days, how many people are going to also lose their insurance because of their inability to pay the new increased premium. How many will lose their main income, because it includes driving. And did I mention losing their car because they can't afford the insurance on it and we can't drive without insurance. Or, can we? I guess the other insurance companies can pay for those accidents of uninsured drivers. They won't mind paying for all those hospital bills and totaled vehicles.
Did I mention the auto companies can forget about any record new car sales for the month, who could afford their new increased insurance premium on a new car, even though Dan G. Citizen is back at work and getting back on his feet, but a bad credit score from the unpaid bills during the layoff has caused a huge increase in the insurance for a new car.
Are you getting the picture of what this will eventually snowball into. It is a vicious cycle. All because of a company whose very origin was to help the working class/the farmers/the backbone of our workforce and one who now has been consumed by greediness and during some of the hardest economic times our country/state has seen in the last 3 decades. This is taking more money out of the consumers pocket that could be spent to stimulate the economy. Insurance companies do nothing to help out our economy, anyway. Money paid to an insurance company is never fed back into the economy, thus making it frozen.
How can we just let this one "slide." How can a person's failure to pay their Visa card bill on time a few times each year, or because their hours are cut at work and they had to chose food or Visa card this month, have any direct relationship to the type of driver they have turned into after years deemed by that same company as no risk at all?
How does getting laid off make you a careless driver who will probably have an accident? How does having a bad crop make you more likely to be a risky driver? What's next, medical? Will our credit score determine if we can be seen at the hospital emergency room or get into a dentist's office? Please! Someone tell me you see the problem with this thinking and will work to do something to help rid of American citizens of this kind of injustice. What kind of absurdity and immoral practices are we going to be forced to swallow next?
Please, please make this a priority on your already full agenda and see what steps we can take to wrong the harm done to the American consumer once again, before it is too late. I will anxiously await your response. I am a teacher in a rural community. How many teachers put in 26 years of service to the same system and are considered a risk of any kind? Teachers, like farmers, are all about doing what's right; and Farm Bureau was made successful by those very people and is turning their backs on them now.

i owned a 2002 toyota camry, paid for, carried uninsured motorist insurance (farm bureau), which is what is required in the state of mississippi. i went to work out at a local gym before work, while i was there, we were notified that there was a car fire outside, at which time i found out that the car next to mine (1999 pontiac grand prix) had caught fire and burned & also caught my vehicle on fire destroying it also. fire department came & extinguished the fire, cops came, information was exchanged. come to find out 2 days later, the guy parked next to me was NOT insured, even though he told the fire department, police, & i that he indeed had insurance.
i of course contacted my insurance company that informed me really quick that they were not liable, because a collision did not happen, even though there was a collision of the flames of the guy's vehicle to my vehicle, upon which destroying my vehicle. to add fuel to this fire, the gym that i belong to is a 24/7 place where they give you a copy of a gym key & you can workout anytime that is convenient to you. well this guy had not been paying dues for the past 3 years, he was there on a counterfeit key. so in short, now i'm out a 10,000 vehicle just because there are losers that beat out system out of every penny possible while the innocent, law-abiders suffer.
toyota camry completely engulfed with fire & destroyed, car worth 10,500.

upon moving to idaho we purchased all our insurance here auto & home, than we transfered out of state I called the middleton office prior to our home closing and gave them the date to cancel, I was told ok if there was any deley in closing just call back. After we moved I recieved a statement from them so I called back to confirm all was cancelled. At this point Im now told we can not cancel a policy over the phone we need your signiture. Now Im in Minnesota so I can not go to the office so she says I will mail you a form and send it back. I get the papers sign them and send them back. I call first week in february to see if everything is cancelled, Im told yes.
Well now on 2/12 they make an automatic withdrawl out of my bank account for a full payment. I call again Im told because I did not come in the office and sign the deley caused us the payment. after speaking to people at the office and being told now I have to get copies of bank statements and whatever else it can 4-6 weeks to get a refund. I think this just a ploy to extort money from people who may not check there balances closely or when they call and are told it was the consumers fault they do not make a stink, its a great way for them to make extra money. hopefully I will get my refund but I think there practices need a little looking into. I lives 1.8 miles from there office when I called to cancel I had been in the office 3 seperate times.None of this would of happened if they had me sign something when I was there, no they wait till Im 1,800 mile away.
