They've been really helpful. I really appreciate it. The claims process is pretty self-explanatory with the app. It's really simple. I click on the link and then go through the steps. The technicians come and do the job. They explained to me a little bit of what needed to occur or what were the issues and then they give me an estimated time frame and they get to work.

The dishwasher wouldn't do anything. But I went to use it the next day and it worked fine. I called AHS and told them that the dishwasher was doing fine. I needed to cancel my claim and so they said, "Okay" and cancelled it. It was easy to contact them and the reps were very kind. I like that with this warranty, I can just call, pay the $75 and somebody will come out. AHS followed through on everything they said. They worked great with me.

I like the fact that I can just go online and put in a claim on what's going on in my house. Then, the process with AHS is quick, easy, to the point, and hassle-free. And it's all connected to my bank account. I don't have to call, sit on the phone, and go through all the stuff. Then they send someone out to my house really quickly to get things done and everything works with my schedule. Everyone's friendly and nice, too.
But I already paid the $100 for AHS to send somebody out, and they keep sending the same company out and their tech never fixed my breaker issue. He's wonderful and professional, but he could never figure out the problem. I have to go in there and keep resetting the breaker. It keeps making that popping noise in the breaker and it's scaring my kids. I need AHS to send another type of electrician. I only paid the 100 bucks, but if they keep having this whatever guy come out and he's never fixing the problem, it's still costing AHS money. Other than that, I'm happy with the service from AHS.

AHS is getting a little bit better but they used to be really good. I have two properties with American Home Shield and in the Detroit area, they say there's nobody in my zip code. Also, they can't even tell me the ratings of the people who come out. I get whoever they tell me. I had an issue with my boiler last year and they sent out these notices that say I can get it tuned up and checked but they told me I can't get mine checked because it's a boiler. But when the person came out to fix the thermostat, the tech said they can do those with American Home Shield. The people I talked to were very nice about it but it's communication. But the company has changed a bit.
Also, it was in the middle of the winter and it wouldn't shut off. It was almost too much heat. I waited three weeks for them to find somebody to come out. And then, the contractor came out from way up north. I never had that issue before. They need to have more available service people for the area. But Sears has been very good. They came out for the microwave, which started making noise, and they had to replace some of the major computer parts inside it. They were slow because there was waiting for approval and it took about a good month. Then, the part came in damaged so they had to redo it. Other than that, the guy who did the repair was pretty good. The first one was a little testy but he was okay, too. I think I just aggravated him because I always ask questions and nobody wants to answer the questions.

I got with American Home Shield on a few other situations throughout the years. At one point, when I called about a repair, the technician found it to be something else than what I had clicked on. They didn't want to fix the problem because I didn't go through the right channels and therefore I had to pay another service fee. I was upset. I almost wound up canceling because of that. This recent experience was pleasant. The power kept going on and off with my electric stove. The problem has been repaired. However, there was no place to describe the problem when I filed the claim online. I wound up clicking on extra buttons to make sure everything that could possibly be the problem was addressed.

The claims process was very easy to do. The information on the contractor showed up within 15 minutes of placing the request. I have an issue with the lever that you push a glass against to get water out or ice. When dispensing water, the valve would stick open or would not open at all. The repairman had to go and order parts for the unit. But we had to call back because we apparently missed something or didn't quite get it repaired because it's still doing the issue. So the repairman is coming back again.

On Thursday, the 3rd, I scheduled the maintenance heating repair with American Home Shield. It was vendored out to Comfort Zone in North Florida. The night before they were supposed to come out, the unit was completely leaking. So, I called American Home Shield and I said, “Oh, my gosh. I have to cancel the heating maintenance and file a claim. There's a bunch of water coming out into the ceiling underneath. I don't know what to do.” They said okay and at that point, it wasn't leaking through the ceiling. It was just in the vent underneath, but the vent was capturing all the water.
They came out promptly the next day and because they were already scheduled for the heat maintenance, they just switched it over to a claim now to fix an issue. The tech said, “Yep. I got it fixed. It was a clog in your tray.” I said, “A clog in my tray? I just did a bunch of maintenance on this. This isn't clogged. All the things that would show me it's clogged are completely clear. What do you mean?” He said, “Oh, well, you wouldn't have known. It's in the back by this and that. But I cleared it out and it's good to go.” He turned it back on and left. We went out of town that weekend, and I came back to water pouring through my ceiling. It started leaking again. That was Sunday night so I promptly called both American Home Shield and Comfort Zone and said, “You guys need to get back out here. There's water dumping through my ceiling. I don't know what you guys did, but it's 10 times worse. Please come out here and fix.”
American Home Shield issued a recall. That was on Monday morning at 6:30. Comfort Zone did not get out here until 9:00 on Tuesday morning, and that was after I had to call them three more times. Last Tuesday, the tech got here and at that point, because I had to call so many times, I requested that a supervisor be on the line and that I need to be talking to a supervisor when they were here because I was wondering, “What's going on? Why are you guys aren't jumping at this? You guys were the last ones to touch it, and now there's a bunch of water damage.”
He was supposed to be here at 8:00 a.m., but he got here at 9:00 something in the morning. I work from home. I was on a work call when they got here. My brother let him in. I told my brother, “Tell him I'll be right out in just a minute. I'm just wrapping up my work call.” It couldn't have been more than seven minutes. I promptly hung up, jumped off, went out, and said, “Oh, hey. Where is he?” My brother said, “He's already left.” So I immediately called Comfort Zone directly, and said, “Hey, you were supposed to have a supervisor call me when this man was here. And he was supposed to have a supervisor on the phone. And he never even talked to the homeowner. My brother's not the homeowner. I am. What gives? This is not okay.”
From that point, they have not been back out here. I had to file a claim with my homeowner's insurance for the leak, and there is mold. We were displaced from our home for a week. We're still displaced from our home. We're here right now today because the temperature has dropped enough that we don't need the AC or the heater for the time being. However, this all happened last week. We were in the path of Hurricane Nicole, so we're looking at 90 degree weather with 95% humidity. So, mold has been growing. We couldn't run the AC so we couldn't comfortably be here. I have made call after call and could not get Comfort Zone. This manager named Chris was supposed to reach out to me. I still have yet to receive a call from him. He finally texted me on Friday and said he was waiting for American Home Shield to authorize the work.
I said, “That's funny because they authorized it on Tuesday and they're waiting for you to call me.” He was like, “Well, this is with the contractor representative. It's nothing you could ask them to do.” I said, “They've approved it.” In the middle of all that, I reached out to American Home Shield multiple times to get updates on what was going on, and what can they do. I was eligible for a second opinion at that time, but no one explained if I took the offer on that, that Comfort Zone would no longer be reaching back. So, I reached out to American Home Shield a number of times, asking, “What's going on? What's going on?” It was over 24 hours before I finally got the escalation team to call me back, and about 20 minutes into the call, after asking that same question 10 times, finally he was like, “Oh, well, Comfort Zone’s not gonna call you back. You asked for a second opinion.”
So I said, “Okay. Well, then forget it.” He was like “So do you still want a second opinion?” I said, “I want somebody out here. So if I have to cancel the second opinion so that Comfort Zone will jump back onto it, do that then. But I need somebody out here.” So, that was canceled on Wednesday. Friday rolls around and I still haven't heard from Comfort Zone at that point. So even though we canceled and hoped that they would jump back onto it, they didn't. I got a knock on my door Friday morning, and it was Beaches Air Conditioning. I thought AHS had sent them out, so I was like, “Okay, yeah. Come on in. Diagnose.”
That was the second opinion and they never got the memo that it was canceled, but they showed up and they diagnosed it, and they said, “Yeah. This thing needs to come out.” They just validated everything that the other company had. There was a fried coil in there, and there was no way they didn't see this when he was originally here on Thursday. The manager of Comfort Zone even said on the phone, “I don't know why he didn't fix it on Thursday. He must have thought we wouldn't have had to get called back out here so soon.” I'm very dissatisfied.

I had to use American Home Shield recently for an AC issue. Whenever it would turn on and then it would cool the house and then shut down, the outside unit would make this really loud, jerking noise. But when the guy came out, we couldn't duplicate the jerking noise. So he said to just keep an eye on it and he also changed out a part. He was super nice and helpful. Overall, it was visually easy to submit a claim to American Home Shield. Then within less than a week, I was contacted and somebody came out. Two burners on the range quit working. I used AHS's online system for the first time and it worked very well. Working with the techs was good. Sometimes, keeping AHS's service is questionable. Their offerings say, "If something breaks down, we'll replace it." But usually, they give us a settlement instead because we didn't like the replacement they were going to offer. They need to work on that. Also, what is a bit excessive or abusive is that whenever I have to replace something new that has an interface like ductwork, the modification part is a lot of money. I had a furnace done years ago and I thought I got screwed.
The other time I thought I got screwed was when we had the air conditioner go out. The original air conditioner on that unit was Freon and that stuff has been banned by EPA. It's no longer manufactured so they had to trade the original air conditioner for new technology. Because of that, they hedged their bet on their guarantee too. I had to pay over a couple of grand because of the technology change. Other than that, sometimes when my claim is more clear cut, all I really have to pay for is the deductible and I'm happy. Those claims are good.

We looked at American Home Shield's policies and determined that they had good ones. They're a good company. The plumber took the time to point out where the problem was. He didn't have the piece in his van, so he ran out to a hardware store and returned to install a new pressure regulating valve. It's much better now.
We had two separate issues. One is we had hard water and the faucets in the master bathroom had been a bit clogged with calcium. The plumber pointed that out, told us how to fix it. That was something that requires a soak, so he didn't do that himself but he made sure we knew exactly what to do. And he checked the pressure regulating valve and saw that too, was not only clogged, but stuck, which is why we were experiencing such a dramatic loss of water pressure. When he fixed that, he tested and made sure the water pressure was back to within regulation and let us test everything and make sure that the rest of the house was better, even though the master bathroom still needed some work. But we were able to soak everything, and everything worked properly by that evening.

My sink was stopping up and my toilet was leaking. I went online and answered the questions in regard to a service call. American Home Shield's site was pretty easy to use. I just clicked on a couple of buttons, described the problem and then they checked my contract to see if it fits. Then they asked for payment information for the service fee that they have, and everything else was done. They gave me the company's name and phone number and said someone would contact me before they would come out. Someone gave me a call, set up the appointment, and then came out to the house. They had excellent service, and they went beyond just saying, “Oh, we're gonna fix this little thing, whatever, for the toilet to stop running, leaky, and all that.” Once they did the one thing, they made sure that everything else was okay and that I wouldn't have to call back.
With any kind of minor issues or even some major issues, AHS had people come out and they've been very good. I’d recommend it to others. I’ve told people who were buying homes, “You should get this. American Home Shield handled the air conditioner claim poorly. There was a fix, but it failed again. They failed to dispatch the person on the recall. They ultimately said they were not sending the person because it was hurricane damage. But now, the insurance company is saying it's not hurricane damage and American Home Shield is just trying to duck their responsibilities. I am extremely unhappy right now because I haven't had air conditioning since Hurricane Ian, September 28th, and this is southwest Florida.
In general, it's very hard to understand the reps. They are speaking to you in English, but it's very difficult to understand the speakers on the other line. The last time I called them, I was on with their person and she was very rude to me. She asked, "Is there anything else we can do for you?" I said, "No, thank you." She said, "Goodbye," but she didn't hang up on me. I said, "Aren't you gonna hang up on me to send me the survey?" She just huffed at me, left me on mute for the next 25 minutes trying to avoid allowing me to go to the survey then hung up on me allowing me to go to the survey. She knew she wasn't doing a good job. She didn't want to let me go to the survey. That's a grimy way to do business.

We weren't getting heat in our sunroom so I filed a claim to American Home Shield. They always have promptly set me up with a service provider. Chris, the mechanic, came out. He took a look at it and figured out that everything was working fine in terms of the hardware and the equipment. It was just a faulty thermostat. We swapped that out and got a new one on. It works now. The same mechanic has been out to my house the third time and he's been awesome every time. He’s super helpful. Even when he's not there, he shoots me a text and answers some pretty basic stuff. I couldn't be happier with Koning Mechanical and Chris in general. He goes beyond just fixing what's wrong. He’s also given me little tips and tricks.
The only downside is that I've had a microwave-oven combo that I placed a claim over a year ago. I've been waiting for a replacement to come in. American Home Shield has given me the option to cash-out where they’ll reimburse me up to my limit according to my plan. But the one replacement they offered is the only microwave-oven combo that they provide. It hasn't been in stock for over a year. If I buy it retail, I would have to eat an additional $700 instead of just them providing it or shopping out for free. That difference is not worth it. It's better waiting. I call every three to four weeks to check in on its status to see if there's any information. Every time I call, it's on backorder. I work with a supply chain. I know it’s crazy right now, so I completely understand. It's just a little frustrating because I don't have a working microwave oven.
But American Home Shield has been super transparent. Any time I call, they're great about being upfront. Multiple customer service reps have told me they'll put my name in their file and flag it whenever it comes back in stock and they'll give me a call. They're making the best out of a really bad situation. I’m still thankful for American Home Shield. Just spending that 25 for someone to come out and they take care of it has been a godsend. American Home Shield has saved me more times than I'd like to count. They have saved me thousands, if not, tens of thousands at this point between mechanics and equipment and installation. If I didn't have them, I probably wouldn't be able to own the house that I have now.

I told him that would be great. I had been asking for them to cancel my policy since October, almost 2 weeks ago. Once he finally agreed to cancel the policy he was no longer going to refund my $75 but had the nerve to tell me they were going to charge me even more. This is the second time for BAD service. Here is why: You wrote a review for Infinity Heating & Air 6 days ago. 1.0 star rating. 11/2/2022.
American Home Shield is our insurance and they sent us... Sal was the technician from Infinity Heating & Air. When he came out my husband told him the thermostat was not working. Sal confirmed. He said he had a new one in the van. He came back in with a thermostat that looked like from the 1970's, super small screen. MY thermostat was originally Honeywell T6-pro WI-FI $136. Value.... Sal installed a Emerson 1F78-151 Thermostat valued $31. How is this REPLACEment VALUE. Not even close in value. Sal said the insurance company will not cover anything else, that was all they would cover. Sal had a bad attitude about the whole situation. We are supposed to have replace value. Very disappointed with this company and SAL at Infinity Heating and Air.... Also Clarence at AHS! What a JOKE! BAD BUSINESS!

I had submitted a claim with US Air and with LG and they switched out the compressor. Apparently, it was a known issue that the compressors were failing prematurely for that model fridge because it was the wrong compressor that was being used. Then, at the beginning of October, the fridge went out. We tried calling American Home Shield but we couldn't get through so we went online and submitted the claim. We had an appointment for October 17th and we had gotten information that a person came out to the house and nobody answered. But nobody heard the door knock or ring. We had to reschedule and the next appointment was for the 2nd of November.
The techs came out on the 2nd of November and my brother was there when they repaired the fridge. The repair person said that the coils were dirty. We had our deep fryer right on the counter that was beside the fridge so, we moved the deep fryer, and we paid the additional charge for the tech to clean the coils. He said that in 24 hours, it should start working again, so we should not put anything nor use the fridge for 24 hours. So, we waited 24 hours and then, we put groceries in the fridge and in the freezer. Then the freezer went out.
When the guy came out on the 2nd, he said we have up until the first 90 days, if anything happens, to call and report that there's still an issue. So, my brother put in another claim to say the freezer went out. But last night, I checked the freezer and it seemed like it was trying to get hard again. But we still weren't trusting it because the only really reason why we know it went out is because there's a tray in the freezer. It's one of those bottom-opening fridges where you’ve got the top part of the fridge and in the middle, there’s a crisper, and the bottom is a freezer drawer. Liquid had gotten into one of the rows and sometimes it'll freeze. Then we'll check the next day and it’ll all be melted. We’ll check the next day, it’s frozen and the next day, it’s all melted. So, we're waiting for the person to come out. They're supposed to be out tomorrow to check and see what's going on with it. The contractors were professional and kind. They seemed nice and efficient.

I would recommend American Home Shield, but I'm paying a lot of money for the service, and there's a fee that I had to pay out of pocket to get the people to come out. Even after that, there were additional fees that were associated with it. If I do an assessment, I could argue that it would be cheaper for me just to pay out of pocket for the repairs and not have the service.
I have two AHS accounts and I had two plumbing issues. Both have been completed. The first one was for my water heater and the plumbing that is associated with it was leaking. Someone came out and rerouted the condensation lines to ensure that it was not leaking going forward. It took a few hours for them because they had to get the water out of the old heater and install the new. But it was fine. It was within a day. The other one was a toilet repair. It took five minutes. It was just a handle that was to be repaired. The techs were professional and nice.

The answer was they were fully booked. That reflects on American Home Shield. My realtor said it was a good idea to look into. And I'm glad I did because I was able to file a couple of claims and they worked out for me. Every time I call American Home Shield, they send someone out here and I get my service. Recently, my refrigerator was leaking and I didn't know what was going on with it. I know it was ice in the bottom of it, but I couldn't thaw it because I couldn't get to the ice that was underneath the refrigerator. I have one of those chrome refrigerators. Two doors open from the top, and it's a freezer at the bottom. I woke up one morning with a puddle of water and it was ice in the bottom of the freezer and I didn't know what was going on. I knew it needed defrosting, but I couldn't get to the ice. I didn't want to mess up anything, maybe punch a hole into anything.
I called AHS and spoke to someone. He seemed like he knew what he was talking about. He presented himself very professional. He talked to me and told me that because the back of the refrigerator was clogged with ice, the water was hitting the floor because it didn't have anywhere to go. He explained to me thoroughly what was happening with the refrigerator and knew what he was talking about. He was a very nice young man. AHS sent a representative out. The guy came out, pulled the drawer out, cracked all the ice that was in the bottom of the freezer, pulled the refrigerator out and went in the back. He said the drain was frozen and he unfroze it. A bit of water was still coming from the bottom of it. But it eventually stopped. I was satisfied because he got here in a timely fashion, was professional, and he explained to me what was going on with the refrigerator. Apply with AHS. It's the best company that is gonna cover your appliances.

I sent in a claim for a plumbing issue. The tech came out. He said that what needs to be done was not covered. So in addition to paying the $100 for him to come out, I had to pay another $80 to have the work completed, and then he kept insisting that I needed to have my bathroom redone and pulled all up because he said there could be standing water behind the wall or under the floor. He said that’s a $10,000 job, and I told him that it's not what I have planned. I didn’t call to report a leaky pipe and have somebody tell me I need $10,000 to do my bathroom.

What I like about having them as my warranty is the convenience of when something breaks down in the house, I just go online and set up a service request and do not have to find a contractor myself and make the arrangements. Overall, it's been a good experience. One of the challenges was that, in a couple of the claims, things moved slowly. It's my first experience with American Home Shield and I have too many complaints. It took me quite a while to convince the receptionist to send the right technician. First, she wanted to send me a technician. I told her the compressor was dead. I needed a company that could handle a replacement job. She said, “No, I have to send a technician first. He has to take a look." I said, “No. Send me a technician with a company experienced in replacing compressors." She refused to do that. I asked her, “If you don't want to do that, transfer me to a manager.” She refused to do that too. The technician who came knew what he was doing. However, after he left, the icemaker stopped working. Besides icemaker, the freezer is not working right. I asked American Home Shield to reopen the case and send a technician over to fix that. I was without a fridge for three days.

Doug’s Construction did a good job replacing my water heater but I still had to pay in addition to what American Home Shield covered, which was a surprise to me because on the commercials, they make it seem like they would replace like for like. I've had a refrigerator go out and they gave me a check for 2,800, which seemed like a lot. But the refrigerator was a $10,000 Sub-Zero refrigerator. So I still had to put out a lot of money in addition to what they gave me. And at first, they said they were going to replace it. They said that for several months before they finally said they were not going to do that and that they'd issue me a check instead.
After that refrigerator incident, I found out that they have an upgraded plan and I bought the upgraded plan, so I had two because they never canceled the old one. I was paying for two of them at the same time, which was a little surprise to me because they said they were going to cancel the old one when I upgraded to the more expensive one that would cover more expensive appliances.
Then, my hot water heater went out and that was worked on by Doug’s Appliance. They did a fantastic job and we now have hot water. But AHS allowed a certain amount for the replacement and the hot water heater was worth more, so I still had to pay another $1,000 on top of what they gave me. Recently, in my rental home, the renter was complaining that there wasn't very much hot water and Doug’s Heating went there. The repair was super easy. Apparently, they just turned up the temperature on the hot water heater, so it felt hotter to the renter. Also, there was some sediment in the bottom so they drained the sediment and refilled it so it was clean, and then turned up the heater.
At another time, I called AHS and told their rep that I had an issue with some exterior faucets that were leaking. I also said that my hot tub wasn't working properly. It has a blinking light and it was not heating. They said that the same plumbing company would fix that. Then, I paid $100 because you have to pay that when you call in for a work order. But the guy that came out just repaired the faucets and left holes in the walls. He said someone else would come out and do the drywall repair since he just did plumbing. But I waited for a month and no one ever came or called.
So I called AHS and asked when they were going to send someone out. It took two calls from me before they got someone to come out and the guy that came out just put a plastic plate over the holes. He explained that if he did the drywall repair, it would be a lot more labor intensive where he had to come out three times, put on the mud, sand it, then reapply the stuff. I got that because we owned a construction company years ago and I knew the procedure. So, he was here for 10 minutes and it was resolved. But I still didn't get the hot tub repaired.
When I did the upgrade a couple of years ago to the more expensive Shield to cover more expensive appliances, I specifically picked one that would cover the hot tub when I was talking to the AHS rep. Also, when I originally placed the work order for the faucets and the hot tub, the gal that took my call said that they were all plumbing things, so they'd just call it as one work order. But until now, three months later, my hot tub is still not fixed. The first guy that came out said that he didn't work on hot tubs, so they'd have to send someone else. Then the guy that came out to do the drywall and furnace said that he didn't work on hot tubs either even though its repair is on the same work order.
So I called AHS back and told them that these two guys that they sent out on that work order looked at the tub but didn't even try and determine what was wrong with it. When I asked them when they were going to send someone, they said it's not part of my plan. So I am disappointed in that. But overall, it's been a good experience and they seem nice when I call them. I'm also grateful that I have the warranty. It's just not quite as good as they say on the commercial.

American Home Shield sent Service Pro Heating for a free inspection of the furnace. The guy showed up. He was very informative, kind of walked me through what he saw up there, and let me know everything was okay. He even went the extra mile. I had some questions about the furnace that I wasn't 100% sure about, and I hadn’t talked to a heating tech, and he even took the time to kind of answer some questions outside of the normal check-up kind of stuff. So, he is a very good technician. It seems like a solid service. I like Home Shield's little offers where you can get some free tune-ups and check-ups on things. They make it fairly easy to go on and request services as well as far as their website is concerned.
So far, I didn't really care for the plumbing vendor I used last year. I had to change out the hot water heater. I thought that their pricing was a little higher than what the market should have been on what they were doing, but they were helpful. So far, the vendors have been pretty good for the most part. I get a quick response from them. They usually get out here fairly timely to get things done. You're not waiting a week or two to get somebody. So, for the most part, they do a pretty good job.

It worked fine and we thought we got it. Then a week later, it happened again and we could not get it. When I first submitted the claim to American Home Shield, it was smooth. I called the guy and he said somebody would call me shortly. But nobody did. It was Saturday. I waited until Monday and called and talked to somebody from the warranty place. I called the plumbing people and when I got through to them, they told me that it was Monday and I would probably get a call between that day and Wednesday. So, I waited until Wednesday and called. I've been having problems with American Home Shield since I've had it. If I would call in for some service, it seemed like it never happened. I had a washing machine problem. First of all, they had the wrong address. They could never find me in the system when I would call. Sears came out for our dryer a month ago. I told the man the dryer was not heating up. The man said that wasn't the problem. He did nothing. He said, "Clean out the filter." And he left. I called back to let them know it still wasn't working. Somebody came back out, they did nothing. They made another appointment. And the appointments were two weeks apart. They didn't come right back out.
AHS told them to come back out again but they never contacted me to even come out. Not to mention, when Sears scheduled my appointment, they did not show up on the day of the appointment. They showed up the following day, at my house and told me I have a certain amount of time to get there. But I was at work. I didn't get the appointment for the following day. I do not want Sears back in my house again.
I'm so fed up with American Home Shield that I'm really on the verge of canceling. Every time I would ask to speak to a supervisor, they would tell me, "No, you cannot." They would tell me somebody would call me back, but it never happened. They would connect me to their escalation department but the people in escalation would hang up on me. Also, when I had problems with my washing machine, I ended up getting rid of the washing machine because they wouldn't do anything for me. I had to go buy a new washing machine. I never had a pleasant experience with AHS.

American Home Shield's okay. It's their vendor who is not responding. They're supposed to come back for the third time to fix the problem. I had to do a work order each time through American Home Shield. November 9th was the third time that I sent another work order. I don't know what's wrong with it. If I knew what was wrong with it, I'd be able to fix it myself. On Thursday the 9th, I reached out to A&R to set up an appointment because I hadn't heard. I had a valid work order number with American Home Shield, so they did not charge me each time I had a work order. A&R said, "I'll have someone out there on Saturday between 8:00 in the morning and 12:00." So, I waited and I waited. No one showed up. So then I called A&R and all I got was to leave a message recording, of which I left two messages and said, "Please call me back to get someone out here. No one showed up. Blah, blah, blah."

Budget HVAC came out for our annual inspection with our furnace system. They found an igniter was the wrong one so they replaced it. They said the one that was on there could have made it blow up. They ordered the one right from the manufacturer that's supposed to be on the furnace. They had to wait for three days for it to come in then they came right out and installed it. It was quick.
However, American Home Shield doesn't take into account where you live. Two times, we've had plumbing issues, and they've sent the same people from the Bellefontaine area. It's a long drive to come up towards Cleveland for them to do a job that may only be $125. American Home Shield needs to start looking for people more local to where the people are calling. I've had to call in twice because both times with that same plumber, they never showed up, but we were getting charged the 125 service fee. American Home Shield had to call the people and verify that they never came out. They couldn't even get ahold of the plumber. I had to wait and call back on Monday because a plumber was supposed to get ahold of me but never did. That process needs to improve.

I had a suspected leak in my kitchen sink line. It smelled damp. American Home Shield sent a plumber out. He was able to find that it was leaking behind the wall. He repaired it. He was nice enough to tell me, "I can't see how far down this goes. You may be dealing with some mold down there. If I were you, I'd have a home restoration company come look at it." He even provided me with a couple names. He also told me that because he had to cut into the drywall that American Home Shield would send someone out to repair the drywall. But I haven't heard anything about that.
I had a claim within a couple of months of closing on my house. It was the issue with the pool. From that day to this day, I just have not had an issue. Sometimes the service is delayed depending upon what it is. In the summer where it's a pool issue, there's only so many people that can address pool concerns, so we might have to wait. I hated that the price went up when it was time for renewal. I asked for a discount and got $125 off for the year, but it was still more than initially what I had paid for it. Also, the longer that you're a customer, AHS should offer you more discounts. But the service wasn't bad when they replaced the dryer, which was fairly quick. The dryer was propane and they didn't have anybody that installed propane. I had to find my own person to install it which meant I had to get rid of the old dryer, dispose of it myself, then find someone to install the propane dryer. Because with Propane, you have to take it apart to change this little orifice on the inside so it'll burn Propane instead of natural gas. So that was a pain. But AHS offered me $100 to help offset the cost of hiring somebody to have it hooked up.
I also had a washing machine that had been replaced. But before that, they had to repair it, so my washer was out of service for almost a month and that's unacceptable. If you got to wait that long for parts, they should have just replaced it to begin with. Also, they sent somebody from McCall East Electronics and they're at least an hour and 15 minutes from here. Coming from Williamsburg all the way out to Alleghany County, it's a long drive. In the end, I had to spend another $100 for a service fee. The first one was in the very end of May and this last one was at the very end of October. But the service person from Appliance Repair was great.

My experience with Affordable Appliance has been one of the few positive experiences I've had with American Home Shield. They made the appointment, showed up on time, and diagnosed the problem, ordered the part and came back and fixed it when they got it. But I had a really bad experience with American Home Shield this summer, and when it was all said and done, it cost me almost $4,000 out of pocket. I still haven't been reimbursed for it. The vendor that they sent out did a lot of negative things and incorrect things that caused me to be sitting in 80 degree temperature throughout most of the summer.
I had to do a second claim in order to get American Home Shield to send out another vendor that verified the first vendor did things incorrectly and put wrong parts into my system. When I asked for the second vendor to provide something in writing so I can stop the payment on my credit card, they didn't wanna irritate American Home Shield, so they wouldn't give me in writing what they told me verbally was going on with my system. I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield.

I had a couple of good experiences where the people seemed to know what they were doing and one or two that really were disappointing. In one case, we had an air conditioning drain that was clogged. The way the air conditioning people who came tried to fix it was to put a hose up to the drain and shoot water up into the pipe. The problem with that was when it got into the attic, the water shot out and seeped into the floor of the attic and into the ceiling of the rooms below. It was the dumbest thing I've ever seen anybody do. I asked, “What are you doing?” The tech said, “Well, this is how we do."
The other time, we had an installation of a new dishwasher and it was a fairly expensive model. The delivery guy put a significant dent in the face of the dishwasher by pushing it in with his shoulder to put it under the counter, instead of sliding it in as he should have done. By the time we did that, the manufacturer was no longer selling the unit that we wanted so we ended up with a different one, which I don't really care for. The trouble is that AHS hires out to the lowest bidders. Sometimes you get people who know what they're doing and sometimes you don't.
On the other hand, we've had pretty good service a couple of times when we had things break. The service cost a reasonable amount which was a $100 visit fee for something that might have cost $1,000 to fix. AHS should focus on the quality of the people that they contract with. They really have to pay attention to the feedback they get about those people. If they don't measure up, they shouldn't use them.

I had to call AHS back and wait on hold for an hour until I finally got someone from America who understood what I was going through. They were the ones who called Sears and got them to come back out. And the guy even had the part on his truck. So, it was done in one day. I submitted a service request for our washer, and the techs were very friendly, professional and on time. They explained everything to me that they were doing and what might be causing my problems. I’ve had problems with the dryer and the washer real close together, and both of those times it was Sears that came out. They checked the sensors because it wasn't going completely through the wash cycle. They determined that it needed a new motor, ordered that and put it in. It still wasn't working right, so a different appliance group came out and, again, calibrated the sensors. Now it's working okay.
I've been pleased with American Home Shield's professionalism. We've had to go through a second service thing with the washer, and they didn't charge me any extra because it was a continuing problem. Their service charges are reasonable. Plus, I like the fact that they cover all of the appliances. This is a home that was built in the ‘60s, and although some appliances aren't that old, some of them are, so they help me keep everything in running condition.

But there have been so many times where they refused to fix or replace. I don't know why I'm paying for the service if they're gonna tell me they're not covering it because of some crazy reason. When my AC went out, three different companies came out. There were three different diagnosis and all three times, American Home Shield decided not to cover. We were out an AC for about a month in hot Florida. I had to pay to replace the air conditioning, and I need them to reimburse me. On top of that, I've been with them a good 15 years, and their contractors were the only people who serviced my AC. Whatever they're telling me is the problem or what is preexisting or there's damage to this, who damaged it? For 15 years, how did it happen all of a sudden?

Spent another 25 Minutes repeating Information that American Home Shield has on file.
After that 25 minutes I had to be transferred to another department, and the agent for American Home Shield began the same process of "verifying" my information. The American Home Shield Voice Mail system readily identified my account via my phone number. The agents are re-verifying in the hopes that you'll hang up, loser power or the call gets dropped. Because I've always worried that something's gonna go wrong, and it's gonna cost me thousands of dollars. And I end up paying 75. So, it's a great company. Get them. The worst thing about them is I could not understand the people that take the calls. They have very bad accent. And I have to keep asking them to repeat it because I don't understand what they're saying. That's the only bad thing about them is whoever they are that answer the phone and I describe what's going on. Other than that, AHS was very good this time. Somebody answered, I told them the problem. They referred me to Ultra. Ultra called, the tech gave me an appointment the next day. So, the whole thing went very nicely with Ultra and AHS.
The first time Ultra came out, because the heater was not working. I love them. They were very good. They have somebody named Gabriel. He was here an hour and a half up on the roof. He came down and said, “It was the fan motor.” He came inside, and said that the thermostat wasn't working. So he said, “I’m gonna replace it.” They were here on October the 15th, and he did that. He replaced the fan motor and thermostat. That's what he did the first time and that was great. It worked for a couple of days. But on November, I went to turn the heater on and the fan was blowing, but it wasn't blowing cold air. So, I called AHS again and said I wanted to see Ultra because they were the ones that worked on this last time. They came out, and he said he had to replace a module. That's what he did, and the heater worked. They’re very good people.

The contractor tried to fix my over-the-range microwave. But it turned out that it had multiple door switches that were broken. The tech only had one in his truck, so he removed it and took it to the shop and had it for about two weeks, and then brought it back and reinstalled it. He made sure everything was good and works perfectly. Everything's been really smooth with American Home Shield, so I've been very pleased with them. I've had my HVAC repaired multiple times by different companies and I haven't had any issues with payments or any of the contractors trying to say, “You owe me more money.” I've had multiple issues with the things that I have covered on my policy and I have not had an issue getting anything fixed yet. The longest I've had to wait for someone to come out was seven days.

I'm a Realtor and I've had some of my associates tell me that I should use American Home Shield and give them another chance because I would never use them in 1,000 years. They never came through for my clients. They wouldn't cover anything. They would never replace anything. I decided to give them a try on my own because there's no better way to see if they're back in the running than to experience it firsthand. So far, it's good. However, there's something that's unclear about my last service call. The vendor needed to replace something on our washing machine in order to do a diagnosis on what I was telling him was wrong with the machine. He made the diagnosis and said that he had to order another part. That was two weeks ago. I haven't heard back anything. American Home Shield seems to have closed my claim but I still haven't got my washing machine fixed yet.

It usually takes American Home Shield a while to respond, but other than that, the service was good. They had someone come out and fix the part on a dishwasher, and the guy was very nice. However, some of the contractors that American Home Shield fielded the calls to, when you did the research to look at their reviews, were terrible. If someone was going to reach out to those companies individually, a consumer wouldn't. The consumer is locked in to whoever AHS has contracts with, but I just rolled with it, and it usually worked out fine. With the three services that we had, we didn't have any issues with them 'cause they were relatively simple.
We sold our house, and I cancelled the account. It's a lot of money. We had it for the whole time and kept paying it, but we only had three service calls, which were for the dryer, the dishwasher and the refrigerator. All three of those would have been less than the $100 deductible for the repairs and on top of paying $80 a month for four years. Having AHS was more like insurance in the event of having the more expensive issues, like the air conditioner going out or even a hot water tank, which is in the $1,000 zone.

I’m very happy. I've had to call them twice and they've come through both times. One time was for our washer. It just kept on turning off mid-cycle. It took 100 times to get through one load. They sent somebody out to replace the motherboard. We were good there. Then a couple of weeks back, there was a gas leak outside of our house. When the gas company came in and did the due diligence on the inside, there was a pipe that was letting out a very slow leak from the main valve. We had no idea. And that's where I feel like American Home Shield shines. Instead of having to pay a plumber to do that, we utilized our AHS there. We were able to get the gas turned back on. It took a day. We've also had good experiences with the vendors that AHS picked as well.
Excellent! We are grateful for the time that you have taken to share your AHS experience. Please let us know if you need any assistance in regard to your warranty. Have a wonderful week.

The broiler wasn't broiling. The contractor is very personable. They've done some work before and they're punctual. They call you back to make sure that you know what's going on, like if they're trying to get a part. The tech found the igniter wasn't working and the eyes on top of the stove sometimes don't come on. I told him that I clean those but he said that the disk on top gets carbon on it and I have to take them off and scrub them. He showed me that I could take a scouring pad and try to keep the carbon from building up on the disc. I'm in the handyman business and I've told many people that it would be a good idea when they buy a house to get AHS because it covers a lot of things.

The element was out in the oven. I filed a claim online with AHS and their website was easy to use. The tech who came out was fast, friendly, and efficient. But not every encounter has been great with AHS. When my water heater went out, I had to have someone else come back and look at it because I didn't like the first company that came out. They wanted to do a video visit. I did that, but I wanted someone to come out also. Then, AHS wasn't going to cover the repair, so I had someone else come. It turned out that there was a different problem, so AHS covered it.

American Home Shield is fantastic. I had the Piedmont utilities out here twice. I was smelling gas. I got up in the middle of the night smelling like I wanna throw up from the rotten eggs. I called American Home Shield the next day, and this incredibly fantastic guy helped me. He helped me identify the only three people who could help me in nowhere-freaking-Alabama. He ended up calling the people in Birmingham two hours away and another company so and so away. He found someone within 30 miles of my house and he got him out here that day. The guy said, "This is really dangerous. Shut the gas off." AHS saved my life. The Quality Air Services is my guy. They are fantastic folks and very polite. Those two guys that came out gave up a Saturday.

My unit stopped working and when the tech came, he introduced himself, and I showed him where my thermostat was and what was going on. He did check in the home, and then he went around the back of the house and checked out the unit. He went upstairs, in my children's room, where the other unit is upstairs and checked that. He had some equipment, and he ran some tests. Then he let me know that he was going to try to see if it was low on Freon. He did about four different little tests. Then he found out that it was clogged. He told me exactly what he was doing and showed me everything. By the time he left, it was working. I also had a claim for my dishwasher and that went over very well. I don't ever plan on not having Home Shield because my parents are older and they can't help me, and I'm in a town by myself. I would suggest it for anyone. I can't afford to buy a new AC or heating unit. But if it's able to be fixed, I'd rather get it fixed.

American Home Shield has done their part in taking care of me. They've done everything I've asked them to do. We still have a problem with our washing machine, though. The first people AHS sent out, they should really check and see if they wanna use them again because the way that they handled it, in the beginning, is not very acceptable. They wanted to order the parts, wanted me look at it and then tell them what I thought was wrong with it. But I'm not a technician. Then they ordered the parts, what I told them I thought about it. But they got it all mixed up. We had a time, finally, getting it straightened out when Madden came out. They were very nice about it. The technician did all that he could to take care of the problem. I was happy with them.

Nussbaumer came out in July 2022. But they didn't want to do any work. They were supposed to look at the stopper in the tub and to look at the faucet. They were also supposed to look at the two toilets. Water was running constantly on both toilets. Because it was so many jobs, they refused to do the work and it was causing the issue. But AHS did a great job. They reached out to RDN Plumbing and they came out and fixed the stopper 'cause water was leaking downstairs into the kitchen.
AHS notified them on a Friday and they were out the next day to take care of that problem. This particular company, for the most part, their dispatch team and their office were so professional. When you call them, you tell them your timeframe that you're available, they try to work with you, and they have every time that we called regarding our time, due to us having a daughter who's nine years old. It's just very difficult and both of us are working. Then they looked at the situation with the faucet dripping in the upstairs bathroom. They allowed me to call Moen. Moen sent out a part. It didn't work. Then Moen then sent out another part. It didn't work. Moen ended up sending out a whole brand-new faucet. They replaced that two weeks ago.
Then they fixed both toilets because it was dripping water. They corrected that issue. Then worked on the sink. But before he left, I said, “I'm getting a drip of water.” He said, "I see why because you have an old valve and that's more likely gonna have to be replaced.” It just didn't stop dripping. So I called them. They came out and replaced the valve just this last week. They put on booties, so they didn't go through your house with muddy boots. They took into consideration your home and also lay down a pad or a mat when they were putting down their tools. For the most part, they did an outstanding job.
AHS also took the time off to listen to what I was trying to explain to them about the situation I was going through. I left and came back and stayed due to the good customer service that I received. I know a lot of work is sourced out. But when I speak with somebody who's from the United States, somebody that understands and comprehends what I'm saying, the customer service is second to none. It's just whenever I'm speaking to someone from somewhere else, there's some type of a language barrier where there are some issues.

I had an issue about getting the $100 service fee back when I had canceled a claim. Also, I'm in a very rural area and there are lot of things I can't get done here. I have a roof leak, and apparently, American Home Shield can't find a person to repair that. They gave me an option of an outsource after four weeks. It was a long time to hear that. I also couldn't find somebody to service my AC. They got some guy to come out. He was an hour away and wasn't even sure because he didn't work on LG units. He worked on Carrier. But he got it going. The overall cost-effectiveness of the service is good. I don't have to make appointments myself. I have had people out here for my washer, and that was quite a lot. I also have had people for my stove and plumbing when I first moved in.
