When I submitted a claim with AHS, the rep I spoke with was very nice. She told me that she was gonna send out a contractor and he would be there on time, and he did a good job, too. The ice maker wasn't working right, so the tech fixed it. He got it figured out.

Sometimes my experience with AHS has been good, sometimes not. I've had to wait over a week for a vendor to contact me. And I don't know if it's anything they can control or not, using vendors that can get back to the customers a little sooner. I was also getting ready to cancel AHS 'cause they've gone up too much.

It's pretty simple to go on the telephone or the internet and get something from AHS. But, I have a call in right now and I've had no response. I contacted them last week before the holiday and told them that my washing machine was out of service. Generally, it's rather quick for them to get back to me, but I'm a little surprised I haven't heard from them.

I don't have any problems with anybody that's come out. They've been responsive. We have two washers and dryers, so I've had the other one looked at, and now, this one. We also had them come out and service our air conditioner and the guys were polite and did the service quickly and got us up and running again. It's nice to be able to contact somebody that takes care of all the services.

Our recent claim with AHS has been ridiculous. We're going on 10 days now and we have not gotten a hot water tank. The techs are coming back out tomorrow. I asked if they would have a hot water tank on their truck and they said no. They changed the thermostat but that did not work. They had to re-diagnose and then contact American Home Shield. I'm a little irritated with them.

AHS is good for what it is. But they're starting to be a little more expensive than I would like. Then sometimes the service is great but sometimes it's not. Circa Service came out recently and it was a good call. But it was a recall. The first person that came to my house misdiagnosed it and they wanted to go into my concrete, but they didn't do their research. I actually diagnosed it and then Circa confirmed that. But overall, AHS is good. Their service is fine, but the people that they contacted to look at my leak, not so much. So it's more of a vendor issue.

I've had American Home Shield since 2012 and now, getting someone out to take a look at what's wrong seems to be taking longer than it used to. It used to be that they would get somebody out here within a day or two, especially if it was something that was an urgent thing like an air conditioner or a heater out in the cold in the winter, or something really important like a refrigerator going out or a freezer.

They used to have people that would come out right away. Now, it seems like it takes a lot longer for someone to come out, and sometimes, it takes up to a week, which really sucks when your air conditioner is broken. Then, it used to be that the people who would do the service request would say, "Okay, this is how much it would cost to be fixed." Home Shield would say, "Well, we'll give you this much to do it," and then vendor would be like, "Okay, I'll take that." Now, instead of letting the vendor provide their own parts, American Home Shield has to order the parts and have them shipped to the vendor and it's on their timeline.

I had an air conditioner that took almost two months to get fixed and this was when it was in the 90 to 100 degrees in the south. So, it was really bad. At one point, they shipped parts out and they came out to fix it and they had sent the wrong parts. At that point, they don't overnight the parts. The part that is really frustrating for me is if I was just paying a repair company to do it, it would be done within just a few days. Also, their prices are going up and their service is going down.

American Home Shield's customer service reps are helpful and they call and they send people to my house to fix whatever it is I need to have done. My recent claim was for my air conditioning. I'm probably gonna have to call the person who adjusted the air conditioner. I'm not sure if it's gonna cut off at 75. It did hit 75, but it never went off. I cut the air off because I had to leave. I don't like leaving with the air because it's so expensive. So, I'm gonna call because there's a guarantee of 30 days for the workmanship.

When something crucial like plumbing, HVAC, or electrical goes out in a house, it's gonna be expensive. It's very helpful to have a home warranty to help cover that and take care of lining up the provider to come take care of the home for whatever the issue is, and American Home Shield's service has been fantastic. My dad has them too. Once I got it and understood the benefits, I signed my dad up and it was able to help him with his air conditioning unit last year. It went out in blazing hot summer. This year, the same thing happened to us at our house, and they were quick and responsive. The HVAC company reached out within a day and was here on the spot. $50 a month isn't bad at all compared to having an over $900 bill that was covered.

I had a claim to American Home Shield for a plumbing issue, and I did it online. I access their website from a mobile phone. It's self-explanatory and easy to navigate. DDX Plumbing came out. They sent text messages and communicated with us. They diagnosed the issue, and they got the tools that they needed. They were in and out. They made sure that the stoppage was finished. Everything seems to be well. Overall, AHS has been able to help us on about any problem that we've had. We like the convenience of it. We've been satisfied to the expectations of what's been set before us. I would recommend them to people who can afford it. It is expensive. In the last two years, I've noticed a 20% bump in their prices. I see that as an issue but other than that, the pricing goes up with everything.

I bought a condo, and my daughter suggested that I connect with American Home Shield for a home warranty, because I bought a lot of new appliances. Recently, we had problems with the smoke detectors, and I had my friend come and take them down. I thought, “Okay. I could just go and replace them.” My son and daughter are with AHS, and they told me I needed to call in about the smoke detectors. I'm older, so they came over and told me what it was that I needed to do. I called in to American Home Shield to have them send someone out to do this for me, and they are the ones who suggested the other company. The other company came out and looked at the smoke detectors.

The other company called in to tell American Home Shield what the problem was and got permission to have the smoke detectors replaced. They would call or send a text message just before getting here, so I could always report back to my daughter. They were always calling me to let me know what it was that they were doing, or sending me text messages, and I appreciated that. They sent out the same technician who had come out before and said that the ones I had could not be replaced because they were too old, and that same technician was the one who came out to put up the new ones. He was always on time.

One time we had something leaking underneath the sink and I had no idea what it was because we have our dishwasher, garbage disposal, hot water and cold water. But I knew it was plumbing, so I started clicking dishwasher, garbage disposal, water pipes, faucet leaking, and sink on the AHS website. They let you click five different options just to get an idea for the service person that comes out so they know to send a plumber or an electrician. Then, within 24 hours of submitting the service request on the computer, the techs call you and schedule something. The longest we had to wait was over a holiday weekend which was three days. It wasn't an emergency though and we could have waited.

For this claim on the leak that we had, within an hour of submitting our request, somebody called and they scheduled somebody to come out between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM the next day. But around 2 o'clock, we got a call saying that the technician had a bigger problem than he anticipated in the morning, though he would still come that day. And he did. He came around 6:30. The communication was great. They always let me know, the tech texted me when he was on his way, and I could track where he was located.

He was young but he didn't make me feel stupid. He walked me through a couple of things and told me that my warranty won't cover repairs until certain things happen. So if I wanted fix things on my own, he told me how much it would cost or that I could wait until the thing breaks and it would be covered, which would only cost me so much. I was very appreciative of that. We also had something going on upstairs in the bathroom sink and he tool care of that as well. It took him a little longer than 45 minutes to finish up since he had to run to Home Depot and get a part then come back.

Sometimes we got ahold of someone that didn't act like they understood, and we couldn't understand them. They were trying to do their job and I'm sure they did it good. It's just we had the problem, but we kept on and got through it, and we still use them. Recently, our dryer went out, so my husband called American Home Shield and we made an appointment with them. They found a person to come work on our dryer, and they ordered all the parts. We had to wait a couple of weeks, but it was worth it. They came and fixed our dryer, and it’s working great now. The cooler on our AC unit was running, but there was no blower, so we weren't getting any air into the house at all. We turned the claim in on a Sunday, then on Monday, the repair company got us on the schedule for Tuesday. The gentleman showed up on time, and he was efficient. He got right to the heart of the issue, diagnosed it, and everything went really well. The only issue was we went a couple of days more with no AC. The repair company had to put in the ticket to AHS, make sure it got approved for the repair, and then they replaced the motor. Sometimes the repair people can do a video chat with to try to diagnose some of the issue and I don't know if that would have helped out on this claim, but if we could have given them a few more details, they may have had the part with them.

With American Home Shield, I can go online, turn in my complaint and have them get it back to us with somebody who is qualified in the field. I can also go in and see that it is still in there. Only one time have I had an issue where AHS sent it to a particular company and, with all of the information that we had completed, they had a company reach out to us and they said, "We're not LG-certified." I said, "I have an LG refrigerator and it said that in our complaint." I don't know how that one happened, but I think that was just a fluke.

They generally send out somebody who knows what they're doing and the customer service is pretty good. Sometimes I've had to wait a long time, but for the past few calls that I've had to call, I've not had to wait a long time. Also, the reps are very polite and always helpful. You can tell that speaking English is not their first language, but they're pretty clear for me. The coverage is good as well. You can get everything covered. You just have to pay for it. I have to pay extra for my refrigerator, but it includes my icemaker. According to my granddaughter, who happens to work for Sears, they're called A&E. The tech came out and it wasn't too long after I showed him the dryer and turned it on that he hollered out to me and said that he was done. He diagnosed the issue perfectly and it turned out it was a roller. He replaced the part and did what he needed to do. The dryer works fine now and it doesn't make the noise anymore. The warranty's price is a little high though we got a lot covered. We went with one of American Home Shield's premium plans and it's about $90 a month. I had my oven serviced and I haven't had to call American Shield for a while, but I was concerned because the vendor they were going to send out had very low ratings on Yelp. So, I called for another vendor and I was assured that we would have a quality guy. And we indeed did. His name was Doug and he was on time. He was from a company called Accord and he worked on the igniter of our oven that went out. I paid my 75 co-pay and I didn't see any other bill nor did the guy said we were going to be billed for the part. I'm was also going to call Accord this morning to tell the lady there that Doug did an outstanding job.

Other than that, based on my experience, AHS doesn't hire top vendors. We had a guy come out for some little part on my dryer and he was not very competent. He broke three parts while he was fixing it. He kept going to the truck, bringing another part, then said he was sorry and that he broke the part. Then he left and didn't come back for another week. So, I was without a dryer for more than a week. Aside from that, there was this one plumbing company called a Right Time and we had their guy come out to fix the toilet. He said that we needed to change out our whole floor to anchor the toilet to the tile. But when we called our regular plumber who's so dependable, he fixed it in 10 minutes. So, I have my qualms about it American Home Shield's repair guys. I've also had the neighbors talk about unqualified people that have come to their houses.

The air conditioning unit in the attic started pouring water out. So, I called American Home Shield and they sent out a roofer. The roofer got up there and he said it was the air conditioner. Then, Best Care came out and said there was a clogged drain pipe. So, they cleaned out the drain pipe and then, the ceiling fell in in the garage. So, they came back out and said that the compressor was not working right. They said it was causing things to freeze up and that was what was causing the water to dump up in the attic. So, they said I needed to replace the compressor and American Home Shield would contribute to that. But they said that my unit was 10 years old and something else could go bad in just a minute. And they talked us into doing more things.

In the end, nobody from American Home Shield helped with the ceiling, so we were doing all that out of pocket. Although it seemed like we paid American Home Shield and Best Care to come out and do a quarterly inspection, and they were saying that the problem we were having was because the plumbing was wrong up there. Other than that, I have three houses that I have covered with AHS and with them, there's a trade-off between a response 24/7 and having people that speak English. But I really appreciate the fact that I do not have to track down a contractor.

American Home Shield's service used to be fantastic. Now, everything's automated and it's hard for older people. I like to actually talk to a person. Their website is okay but it could be easier to use. Also, a lot of times, when something breaks on weekends or holidays, you might get someone that doesn't speak really clear English. They have a thick accent and it might be hard to understand them. So, you have to listen really hard and have them repeat. Aside from that, the amount of coverage included in the warranty has dropped some and I'm upset about the price going up. But everything is.

I recently had a claim for my dishwasher and they got it fixed. On the other hand, my daughter has been waiting two weeks at her house for the people to come back with a part and she couldn't get ahold of anybody to talk to at American Home Shield. So, I found the number I used so she could call them. The experience depends on the contractor that they use because, a lot of times, you might not have a contractor that's readily available. I also had an issue when I wasn't getting cold water in the bathtub. The techs came right out and got that fixed.

Over the weekend, I had to call American Home Shield because I couldn't get the pilot to re-light on the hot water heater. When I finally understood what the lady from AHS was saying, it turned out that she was trying to tell me that even if they took the $85 deductible from me and sent someone out, the technician wouldn't be able to repair it because the hot water heater is still under the manufacturer's warranty. So, I called the manufacturer's number on the hot water heater and they were really nice. They walked me through how to reset everything and the heater came right on. All in all, I've been impressed with AHS over the years or I wouldn't still have them.

We've been with American Home Shield for 20 years, and I don't have any problems. The website has very much improved. That's a quicker service than on the phone, and when their guys come to fix something, I can do that one service charge. Plus, if they can't fix it, then they replace it. Recently, I had my air conditioning unit checked out because it wasn't blowing right. We submitted our claim on Saturday, then my husband got a text and an email. The repairman was gonna come Wednesday, but we had a storm, so he had to come on Thursday. He came early, so it was good. He had to put Freon in the AC, and he serviced it and made sure it was running good. Now, it's working much better. After the guy left, I went online and rated the company. When people say something broke down, I always tell them to get the home warranty, and my sister got American Home Shield. I got her onboard.

We've moved several times, and it's been 10 years we've had American Home Shield through the various homes. Occasionally, we've had a negative experience, but based on 10 years, it's an excellent service. It's very user-friendly. I have the app. I go on online, and it's very simple. I'm very happy with it. Recently, our pool heater didn't heat our spa sufficiently. It would take two hours to heat it up about 10 degrees, and it wouldn't even get to the temperature that we set it at. An extremely knowledgeable tech came out and did an excellent job, but as it turned out, the parts that he replaced didn't resolve the problem. I filled out an online request concerning him. We had the same guy come out yesterday, and he has to order another part.

We had door locks changed with American Home Shield, then we had a big HVAC project. They were able to expediate the process and communicate who they were gonna set that up with, through email and texting. It took a quick amount of time and we had a response from the contractor that they were gonna use. For the HVAC, they covered all of it except $1,600. They paid $9,000 to the HVAC company because we had a whole new heat pump system replaced. That was really great to be able to cover that big expense with buying a new home. People don't anticipate having to put out a large deal of money and something goes faulty within that time period. The contractor came several times and tried to patch the problem and fix it the best they could, but in the end, it just couldn't be repaired anymore.

I made a request about 8:00 in the morning Pacific Time and I got lucky because the repair company was assigned to me and they quickly reached out to see if I was available between 9:00 and 1:00 that day. As hot as it was, I was really thankful. They showed up within a couple of hours, and it was all taken care of quickly. The service was good, but it was a little more costly than I expected. The final analysis demonstrated that something caused a leakage of Freon. It was a minor part, but it was still necessary to have replaced. Other than that, everything was great. However, I noticed the changes that were made to my American Home Shield policy and I can see what direction it's going in. With inflation being what it is and the costs being what they are, my premium goes up and the coverage goes down.

I called American Home Shield to request for service, and it was easy. They told me on the phone who would be coming out and I got a text as well. The repairman who came told me there wasn’t an issue with the drainage. It was something about the foundation, and I needed a trench. He saw the new pipes that have been put in. When it rains, it goes into the foundation.

The experience with American Home Shield was very terrible. The amount for the replacement of the condensate pipe was $600 and they would not cover that. We've paid 102 a month for years and there was not even an offer to pay half. So I cancelled on the 10th. Then on the 17th, they debited my account $102.99. They said the contract ended on September the 15th and because I cancelled it within 30 days of it expiring, they've had to charge me the amount. On the 17th, when I talked to the receptionist, she told me that they would refund the money to me. When I called on the 28th and had not received my refund, they said they couldn’t do it. It was just one thing after the other. When they called back today, I said it was fine.

We had an ice maker that needed to be replaced in our primary residence and when my husband called in the work order, AHS said that they would waive the deductible. But after the techs came out and fixed it, there were some problems. AHS told my husband they could not waive it and they ended up charging him more for that. So, he was very highly upset. He cancelled back in July after escalating it.

We have been very frustrated. We normally have had good customer service from American Home Shield so we always refer them. I referred one of my coworkers and they were supposed to send me an Amazon card for referring. I never got that and that was about two years ago. We refer because we have never had any issues with American Home Shield. This year was not a good year that we had dealings with them. So we decided that, with so many other companies out there, we would just cancel. They told me today I still got coverage until September the 14th and I said thank you. I don't care.

We have been dedicated customers and always paid on time because it was automatically taken out of our account. So we wouldn’t have to mail in or have to call in payments. Also, when there was a service request, it was automatically taken out. So it was never about the payment being late for all these years. And all of a sudden, my mom is 83 sitting down in the house at the time when the temperature was 107. It was 90-something in her house and it was ridiculous. So, I paid the out-of-pocket to have that part fixed. There was also the frustration when you couldn't understand the people that you spoke with because their first language was not English and when you asked for someone else, there was no one else that could help you or the supervisor was on another line. They would offer to call back and if we say no, we would just hold. We would be on hold for 30 minutes waiting on somebody to come back. It has just been bad.

Also, sometimes AHS will let me look up the person they're assigning my claim to so I can pick a little bit. Recently, my hot water heater started leaking out at the bottom and High Tech plumbing came out the next day. The tech was able to get the request then and two days after that, he got the new one and got it installed. I've paid AHS $300 now on top of the monthly fee to resolve a breaker that is tripping. They have sent two companies out that both have 2-star ratings and whom you can never get in touch with. Both companies have an act for running the 30 day timer out so you have to pay another $100 to AHS. The last company they sent out the guy looked right at me and told me what needed to be done to fix the issue but refused to do it and file with AHS that it was complete to get paid.

Needless to say, AHS has been trying for 2 weeks to get this company to answer their phone or email yet has offered no further assistance. I'm sure once the 30-day mark hits the company will answer their call. I called to cancel my warranty since they have now taken $300 from me and left me with a potential fire hazard in my home and they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee for not doing the one thing they have been paid to do. This company is horrible. AHS has over 26,000 complaints with the BBB and are all up in the News for doing people wrong, taking their money and never repairing items, etc. Save yourself the grief and avoid AHS at all cost before it costs you.

I got an email where AHS said everything was covered but I knew I was gonna pay for the coolant if they have to modify anything.

I called AHS and talked to a rep. She said, "Well, there's nothing covered." I was irate. I said that I got an email and she said, "No, it's warranty work.". I said, "I know the part has the warranty. You're covering the labor and everything." But she said they weren't covering. I asked to talk to a manager but then she said there was nobody there. I used some choice words as I was a bit pissed off. When I got a call from East Ohio, the tech said, "These people call from call centers don't have a blessed clue. It's covered. The parts are ordered and I already told AHS. Don't worry. We're gonna get a part."

Three days later, I got a call from AHS and the rep said, "You had a problem?". I explained to her. I talked to somebody else and the gentleman I spoke with was spot on. He said, "No, you're covered for all this." He told me they would cover all the labor and I gotta pay for the coolant. He was phenomenal. So, everything's fine now. American Home Shield has been fine.

I asked if I could have my claim reassigned to a different contractor since I had already waited 4 days.

At first she said no, until I threatened to cancel the service. Then she said she would assign it to someone else. After cancelling the request, she then told me she wasn't going to follow through with assigning it to the company she said she would. When I asked that she follow through with what she promised, she said she had cancelled the request and then began to send me nonsense from their website. As of now, I have been on the chat with her for an hour and a half, going in constant circles because she failed to follow through with the expectation she set. I had received a quote from another company on my own and it was $1,200. The contractor said they had to do it through AHS so they called right there and AHS gave me a quote. I told them I wanted a particular brand, Bradford White but they gave me a quote for a Rheem. I didn't realize that. When they were unloading it, I saw that what I got was a Rheem. I told them I wanted Bradford White and they said that would be another $300. I said, "Fine, Go get me a Bradford White."

So, they called around, found one and came back an hour and a half later with it. They installed everything and it was nice. Their boss called me later in the day after the heater was installed. He said that he talked to his guy and that the guy said that I had asked for a Bradford White. He said though the cost was $300, he would meet me halfway and give me credit for 150. I was very happy with that. With AHS, I like the ease of the service. It's worth it for the peace of mind.

American Home Shield sent Island Mann Plumbing for my two faucets and a toilet. They tightened the faucets. The faucet head was loose, and one of them was apparently broken, and I elected not to have a new one put in at this time. The toilet was running. We had a high water bill. I did the claim online. It was quick and easy. My concern was not the claim itself but who was going to come out and if the job was going to be done correctly. The company that came out fixed it with no problems and told me exactly what was going on and what needed to be done within the home for the future. They were very informative, very polite, and very fast.

Sometimes, AHS has people that are not desirable. This time was an excellent experience, but I've had previous experiences like when 3 Boys Appliance left a nonworking microwave sitting on the counter and closed the work order. American Home Shield stepped in and they corrected what was wrong. This was close to COVID and a lot of things were happening at that time internally with the family, so there were a lot of distractions, but American Home Shield replaced the microwave and mounted it like it should have been in the first place.

It's just it is extremely difficult to get in contact with anybody at American Home Shield. What I did was unusual. I found American Home Shield employees on Indeed, and I did a mass emailing to everyone that I could within Indeed in order to get someone to respond. The way to contact American Home Shield needs to be easier for the consumer to resolve issues. When they have bad tradesmen, there needs to be an easier way of reporting it and not having that person come back to serve other people. I've already let them know that I absolutely do not want 3 Boys Appliance to ever come out to my house. There should be a easier process, especially when a ticket is closed when it's not supposed to be. It's time-consuming and draining on the homeowner.

Two months ago, AHS sent out a tech to work on my refrigerator. The tech said he needed to have a new part and that he had to order it. But not even a month later, it broke down with the same problem again and the tech told me that he could not fix it.

AHS also wants to charge me again, so that's not very good. When I called AHS and talked to a rep, they said that they only give you 30 days no matter if it's the same problem or not and that really disappoints me. They should give you more than a month if they fix something and it broke down in a month. They should fix it for the same money because it's the same issue. So, I'm not using that refrigerator right now because I don't have the money to pay the $100. Aside from that, AHS charges so much monthly and I don't know why they go up so much either. Two weeks ago, they fixed my garage but they only covered some parts and I had to pay most of the money. It makes no sense sometimes to have the insurance.

They were supposed to replace it but then didn't order the right parts. They came back, and then they had the wrong address for the vendor. It was shipped to the wrong address and they have to send it to another address. So it's a big hassle. The holdup is just the contractor getting it together, ordering the right part, and then getting the air handler unit. They told me that they were gonna get somebody to look at it and keep on top of it, but it seems like they don't have that. I'm very dissatisfied. The process with American Home Shield is usually pretty fast. Getting hold of them is hard because they are busy. But once I get hold of somebody, they're out in a day or two. That's with the exception of my air conditioning as that was about two weeks. But everybody's air went out so that was hard. When I had my air conditioning put in, the people that came out were excellent.

I also had my fan fixed and I would have liked to have a new one. It's a Hunter and it's 30 years old. But the techs thought they could fix it. That's okay. American Home Shield is good. As long as the contractors come from a good area, it's good. But if American Home Shield gets them up in the hills or 60 miles away, like going up to Grass Valley or up that way or Quincy, they don't even know what my toilet is because they don't even know what a commercial toilet is.

The policy gets a little pricey. When you go through about three or four years, it's just a minimal thing. Now it's too expensive, especially for somebody who's on social security. It was 40 bucks before and it's almost 60 now. I'm thinking about quitting and not having them next year. I figure, for $600 a year now, I can afford to get somebody out here. Other than that, I would recommend American Home Shield.

They told me the process and to choose if I want them to send me a Home Depot or Lowe's card or to buy the washer myself and then they're gonna send me a check. The person I was talking to was pleasant and walked me through the process. They explained everything easily so I understood the process. I purchased the appliance and then they sent me a check. It was easy.

My previous warranty company couldn't find a service provider in my area and couldn't connect me. But with American Home Shield, I liked that when you file your claim online, they connect you with the service provider in your area and within 24 hours. I filed two claims with them. One was when the compressor on my heat pump blew and the second claim was for a faucet issue in the shower. Both times, I had responses. I had a contractor assigned to me within 24 hours and we were able to make the appointment quickly. Both of those issues were resolved with no problem.

The guy who came for the heat pump was awesome. But the plumber that came out for the faucet was not so great. I had to call to remind him to show up. He was slightly less professional than the HVAC guy. It was just a pain. If I wanted to be on the phone, reminding someone to come to work, I wouldn't have a home warranty. When I sent in the claim for the faucet, the first plumber that American Home Shield hooked me up with never called. They didn't call for about a week. So I called American Home Shield back and asked what was going on with the case. I talked to a live person and he fast-tracked my issue. Overall, the warranty is good for the price and for what I have covered. It's good value for the money.

It's been horrible with AHS. We've had issues with our AC unit. We have three floors. One unit is for the bottom and the second unit is for the second and third floor. We're on our fourth call in regards to our AC unit going out. The first time, the pipes froze and they came in and told us to turn it off. We did what they said and it worked and they couldn't figure out what was going on. A day or two went by and the same thing happened.

When they came out the very last time, the bottom unit ended up going out. The tech said it was the compressor. The second floor unit wasn't working either and on that one, he said the drain was clogged. What was explained to us is that the drain gets clogged and it accumulates water in the drip pan. Once the drip pan gets to a certain level, it shuts the system off so it prevents itself from overflowing into the house. It's been so hot here in Charleston and the humidity dries up, and that's where the water that's inside the drip pan. The system thinks all is well and it starts producing again. We keep going through that cycle. They unclogged it and he said everything is well. But two days later, the air upstairs is not working again.

My husband called yesterday and he was very unhappy with the customer service. He called to say they've already had this one company come out four times and they still have not fixed the issue and if we could have another person come out. He was told no, because we have to let them fix it and they're the ones who have to tell American Home Shield that they can't fix it before anybody else gets sent out. If they're supposed to be working for me, why do I have to wait to a vendor?

Also, there's a huge communication barrier because they don't understand what we're saying and it's almost like they're trying to read off of a script. People outsource work all the time. Nothing wrong with that. But get people who understand customer service and understand how to communicate better. We are due to renew in September and my husband already said we're not renewing.

American Home Shield's service is not great. I don't know if I can get any better. I have a refrigerator that I've paid in fees enough to where I could have replaced it, and it never gets fixed. I stopped making a claim on it. It's broken. They come out and they tell me that they can't fix it, and then American Home Shield won't replace it. It costs me $75 to $100 every time they come out, and I've already paid enough to where I could have just bought one. They've attempted to repair it. They told me it was the circuit board, so they replaced the circuit board. Then, they said that the thermometer for the thermostat is located in a bad place because this unit is designed improperly, so they moved the thermostat. One time, they said, "Well, the drainage is pinched." So, they cut off the drainage pinch.

They just keep saying it's different things and it's not different issues, it's always the same issue that is happening with the fridge. It's never been fixed. They've done all kinds of tinkering with it every time they come out, but they never fixed it. I've had an issue with the AC unit where they've replaced the compressor twice now. The first time they replaced it, it lasted less than two years. It just seems that the part that they're giving me to replace it with is substandard. I've thought of switching before, especially with the issues with the fridge but the only issue is I don't know if the fridge will be covered anymore. Also, they're the only company that covers my pool.

After they fixed the heater, my main shower was still not heating up so I called them back. American Home Shield put in a recall. So the techs called me and I explained what was going on. They told me that I needed to put another claim to American Home Shield so that they could come in and take a look at it. But I've not put in the request yet.

I’ve had American Home Shield for 26 years now and sometimes, they make me mad. But they've done everything in the past. I am dissatisfied with the results of the recent technical visit to address the issues with my refrigerator and microwave oven. The problems with my refrigerator have persisted over multiple instances, with food freezing despite our efforts. Since your initial visit, AHS technician has consistently advised against blocking the vent, and we have followed this instruction diligently, but the issue remains unresolved. Regarding the microwave oven, we provided a video demonstrating that the keypad was unresponsive but the tech advised not to slam the microwave oven door. However, we have used the same oven for years without encountering any issues until now.

I would like to clarify that we did not seek assistance for the refrigerator's freezing issue earlier because each technical visit incurs a $100 cost. It's frustrating to see food items go to waste due to freezing problems. What is even more frustrating is the repeated advice about not blocking the vent, which has not effectively resolved the problem. We seek AHS help to address these issues, but the solutions provided have not resulted in successful resolutions. As a result, we continue to face challenges and anticipate regular food wastage.

American Home Shield and HSA are the same company depending on where you're located. I have another home that I have a home warranty on that's in Maryland and it's covered under HSA. It’s like night-and-day difference working with them. They have much better service. With AHS, you have to fight to get through the frontline people to be able to talk to a supervisor when I shouldn't have to go through all those changes. When I asked to speak to a supervisor about the last situation I had, it was ridiculous. I had to insist and raise my voice. I'm not happy with that at all, enough so that I would change companies.

Recently, I had I had to have the compressor replaced in my air conditioner. Tru Tech, their contractor, is very professional. I ask for them every time I need anything done with my heating and air conditioning because of the type of service they provide. But if I have questions related to the compressor, the frontline person cannot answer it. So, why can't I talk to the people who are dealing with the part or the department to get my questions answered? Four years ago, I had the same problem and the person who was supposed to be helping me was working from home and did not call me back on a timely basis.

AHS automatically assigns you to a contractor. If I have a history with a contractor, I should be able to select them right off. But I cannot select them immediately. I have to call AHS and change to the contractor I want to have. Sometimes, that can delay service for 24 hours or longer.

The process was relatively simple going online and answering the questions to have someone to come out and look at my problem. It was also pretty efficient, easy, and user-friendly. I didn't run into any problems and someone came out quickly to resolve the issue.

It was Tuesday that someone was out here repairing my air conditioning and the guy who showed up, Micool, was phenomenal. I was standing over him because I was trying to learn something about the air conditioning unit, how it works, and what happened that led to this problem. This guy walked me through the whole science behind the air conditioning, what happens when it starts to leak, and how I got to that problem. It was an amazing experience and the guy was extremely professional. He was also kind and it was like I had a relative come to my house and helping me.

At no time did I feel like this guy was suspect or that he didn't have my best interest at heart in terms of wanting to get my problem resolved and get it resolved quickly. He even gave me some tips on how I could avoid the problems that I was having. Since the repair, I haven't had any issue with the AC. In fact, it's gotten better and it's like the North Pole in here. I also got the guy's information because any time I have problems, I may even bypass if I have to and go straight to this guy. Other than that, the price of the warranty is reasonable. I'm paying AHS about $50, then I paid $100 for deducted copay.

It's been great. The American Home Shield warranty is good, but the price just went up and there's no reason that it needs to be this expensive. Most of the time, they try to get out of stuff. They often try to argue things that are not in the warranty. If you read the warranty, it says one thing then they try to say that things are not covered. I'll say, “Well, it says, ‘All parts and pieces.’ What are you talking about?” They'll say, "Well, this is different than the whole thing."

I have used the phone system for claims many times, but I don't use it as much as I can. I tend to use the online. The people that work with the chat are much nicer, and I get through to somebody quickly and get my stuff resolved very quickly with them. It's been a much improved situation. It's better than the phone system where the customer service reps are very aggressive. They find any excuse they possibly can to get out of covering something. They've even accused me of hanging off of my refrigerator door. They told me that the work person told them that there was no other way it could have happened except somebody was hanging on the door, and we don't have any children here. They didn't wanna replace this thing in the refrigerator. It was one little plastic piece, and it was very cheap.

If you should realize that you will not be using the service like I did, you will have a very difficult time canceling. I canceled my account and they told me I had to finish out my contract. They said they’d give me a few free months and pay for the last two months and then the plan would be canceled. After this period was up I got something in the mail saying my account was reinstated and charges would continue. I called back where it took 20 to 30 minutes of wait time bouncing around to different customer service people to no avail. The bills for AHS come in my name, yet they told me it was my husband who needed to cancel the account. His name is not on the billing mailers at all. The first time I canceled they did not need his verification. It seems to me like they are trying to keep every bit of customers they can. Beware.

I make my claims online with AHS and I hear back very quickly online, and they assign me whoever. Then immediately I call whoever and they usually already have the information from American Home Shield and I make an appointment right then. They had to replace a microwave and they did everything they were supposed to do, above and beyond. My experience with the techs has been awesome, too. I have not had any problems. Everything's been taken care of immediately. I made a claim for the HVAC yesterday with AHS and the techs came out today. However, I wish the price of the policy would come down a little.

I used American Home Shield warranty plan for 3 years for an AirBnb property. I was satisfied with the service when I had a minor problem with the dishwasher. The repairman was competent & he provided timely service. I recommend you read the details of the policy. The company they sent for an old air conditioner was rated two stars. They recommended repair, but the repair would not be guaranteed, and they pay very little for for freon (which is fair since it's stated in the policy). According to the policy, you can get a second opinion. If the second opinion disagrees with the provider AHS sent, the repair must be done by the (poorly rated) company they sent.

Next I had an issue with a refrigerator. The repairman looked at it & said "I can't fix it". My renter was without a refrigerator for 20 days. The final repairman said it has reset itself & is working again. He offered to come out again for free if it had another problem, but I replaced it, which probably should have been done right away. I'm done with home warranty programs, the frustration isn't worth it to me.

The only thing I have a complaint with is, somehow, I didn't get in on the package where I have to pay $125 for them to come out. I hate that and I wish it was cheaper.

They are putting limitation on the HVAC system. I don't understand if the payment is the same and why they're changing the plan. I may look for another home warranty system. When I first bought my house, American Home Shield gave me a gift for a key change. The key guy fought with me for no reason. They told me that they would show up but didn't. The next day, they scheduled but I didn't know. I told them I was not gonna be home. He hang up on me. It was not trustful because I was living alone at that time. I didn't feel comfortable and I didn't wanna let him in and change my key. He also told me, "You are living alone." If I'm telling you you're living alone, that means it's threatening somebody. They put the order in the same day and came back the next week with the part and put it in. The reps try to be helpful on the phone. However, their cost is ridiculous because every year they go up, and they don't tell you. For all the money I spend every month, American Home Shield did not fix my hot water tank when it went bad. They sent somebody here that didn't know what he was doing. He flooded my bedroom from the hot water tank. I wound up having to go out of my pocket and buy my own hot water tank because they told me sediment wasn't covered. They should have done a better job than what they did.

They did the same thing with my air conditioner. They didn't buy me a new air conditioner when it went bad. I had to keep filling it up with freon. They were charging $20 a pound for that. It wasn't worth to fill that up. I was spending $500 to get my air conditioning filled up when I could take that money and put a down payment on a new air conditioner. They gave me $1,000 and told me I was on my own.

I had claims with American Home Shield for my upstairs and my downstairs AC. I also made a claim for my dishwasher. The people who came out did awesome. They fixed what needed to be fixed in a timely manner. But my recent claim was not so great. My washer went out and the technician noted that it needed belts and there was probably a transmission issue. American Home Shield decided to do just the belts. They wanted to go the cheaper route. The technician came out and put the new belts up. I got two small loads of laundry done and the washer did the same issue again. Between that, it had some time because before they could get the washer fixed, I had to go down to the laundromat and do a bunch of laundry.

The tech came out and said, "Yeah, it definitely needs a new washer." The service that I put in was on July 19th. When the new washer arrived, it was damaged. American Home Shield had to order me another one and they said that it was going to be the 29th. I called and explained my complaint and they said they could expedite. I called the people and they said the expedite wasn't on there yet. It could be five to six business days. At the latest, it could be the 28th. I tried to explain to them that school starts tomorrow. I have three kids and I've gone pretty much without a washing machine for two months. The little kids like to try to change four or five times a day. But there was nothing else that could be done.

The washer finally arrived last night and it's been installed. It's working pretty well. Most of the settings are just electronic. The technician was trying to move quickly. You could tell he wasn't from around here. In the town that I live in, I live close to a river so the mosquitoes are horrid. I even gave him a little bit of Off for his legs. He was definitely not used to it. Before yesterday, the whole experience was just ridiculous. Yesterday, they did awesome. Every time I called, they kept me updated.

I've used American Home Shield about seven times already and they have done really well. But the go-around and their communication was just horrid. I'd be told one thing by one side and I'd be told something else by the other side. Nothing was ever done. They told me about expediting the washer but that never happened. There was no straight actual answer. I talked to a supervisor and instead of him trying to help me figure stuff out, I was told that the ordering and shipping were not his department but he could send me to the shipping department. That aside, I did talk to a few people that were really good. Another thing was American Home Shield bumped up the cost and never contacted us through an email or anything to tell us about that. We started off at 60 and now we're all the way up to 90.

When I called AHS, some of the reps I got were pretty good and their website is not bad. So far, they replaced our stove and fixed some of our appliances, but others were not fixed correctly. With our pool equipment, we paid extra to get it added and when we had a claim on it, they agreed to cover this one piece on it. But when the pool guy came out, he had to move some of the plumbing around to make that piece fit where it was agreed to be placed, and AHS wouldn't pay for that. And then, they didn't cover the chlorine and lay things. We needed one of those and we paid for that out of pocket as well. I completely understood that, but why would they not pay for the plumbing that had to get done to install the part that they agreed to cover? The guy we talked to just kept reading the little blurb in the contract but that didn't tell me why they weren't covering it. It was so frustrating, so I just hung up.

There was another part on the plumbing equipment that they said was not considered normal wear and tear, so they also didn't cover it. But I didn't do anything to it. It just quit working. Other than that, the technicians were awesome. We paid the $100 for each tech before they came out, which I knew that was part of the contract, then, we had to pay the A-1 plumbing guy separately for him to do the work that AHS didn't cover. So, I thought we were done. But the other day, I got an email saying that I need to pay American Home Shield another $100. I'm going to have to call them again about that because I paid everything already. Aside from that, there's a lot of hidden stuff in the contract.

I've been very disappointed with Home Shield. Their response time is great but once the ticket is opened and assigned, it's a bit of a struggle. Yesterday, I had my garage door repaired to where it could be functional. But Home Shield was calling me to find out how the project is going instead of calling the vendor and they're expecting me to follow up with the vendor. They've got jobs to do just like I've got a job to do and my job is not following up with the vendor that's supposed to be fixing my house.

Not to mention the fact that the story that I get from Home Shield is never the story that I get from the vendor. I thought it was maybe just this one vendor, but it was a chronic issue. When they initially came out, it was a sensor that had been an issue and they describe that this garage door model is chronic with these issues. It's an issue with most of these but he didn't bring the part with him? He said they would have to order the part so he did. In the meantime, I couldn't open and close the garage door. It takes three or four times to do it because it only lowers halfway.

The vendor said he'd be back out here at a certain time. But then he was running late and he would have to come out again. When he came out and tried to put in his parts, they didn't fit and he had taken apart the motor for the garage door opener. He said they would replace the motor. They'd replace the whole thing and that way, they didn't need the sensor. Then, he said he couldn't put the motor back together without the right part so he said he'd be back the following week. I know this is just a garage door opener, but it seems to be a chronic instance. Even to the point where I've already called my agent and I'm yelling at her because she referred me to Home Shield.

I had two cooling situations. One of them was for a property next door that I own and the problem turned out to be the fan, which was repaired with not much waiting time. Right after that went out, mine went out. So I was without air conditioning for almost all of last month. Determining what the problem was then ordering the fan caused a delay, but when the parts came, the repair was done in just a few hours. The techs had to go up in the attic, which is where the thing was, and it was extremely hot, but they worked really well. There was no complaining, and they just went to work and did what they had to do.

Also, I requested some additional parts for prevention and one of them was a larger tray to go under for the dripping. They suggested that I have two switches put on there that would automatically shut off, but American Home Shield didn't pay for those. We had the same problem in the attic before, but it turned out to be piping behind the stuff up there that they didn't see it first, so I had a lot of damage in the ceiling. After the techs finally figured out what it was, they put a larger pan and two switches in there for prevention also. So since the techs were here for my recent claim, I wanted to have that done as well. Other than that, the biggest benefit of having AHS is whenever something breaks down, it usually gets fixed. But I'm not satisfied with the fact that they're increasing their price yearly. The deductible used to be $75 and now, it's $100. The account prices have also gone up.

I felt they didn't explain it well enough and tell me I would be limited with what my dollar amount was. It was a lot of money out of pocket this time. They told me at first, I would get a fan similar to what I had. What they paid me was $55 a fan, which wasn't enough to buy one. So I had to go out, buy the fans. And I just got the reimbursement for the money. There's a site where the electrician can go on and try to replace them with a fan that was similar. But there was nothing in the price range of $55. I had to hire them to come and put the fan boxes in before they could put in the fans. So, it took some time and it was costly. It was a thousand dollars. I thought at least my fans would be covered. But that wasn't true either. I was happy with AHS until this last thing.

I'm waiting for somebody to come out and look at my air conditioner. I screwed up and I could have had a tune-up but I didn't get it. A couple of days ago, I had water coming out of the unit. I shut it off and put some towels down. It's had little drips of water but it's still working. I left it off for almost an entire day in that bad heat. I've read that water is coming out, you really don't wanna run it. But I don't wanna die in this house because of the heat. It's working fine now but it just scared me. I'm just worried that they're not gonna call me. I'm not dissatisfied, but it seems like I spent some money that I probably might not have needed to spend. But it was partly my fault for not getting the air conditioner tuned up because they don't do tune-ups in the offseason. I'm still waiting for the technician to call me. I got ahold of them three days ago. Nobody's called me yet. It's summer and I figured that they're probably busy.

I had another claim and the key place was okay, but I was under the impression that the guy really didn't do anything. They called and asked me what the number was on the key before he even came out. He could only really fix the one door. I was really happy with the garage door as it got fixed. But I really wanted to get a new garage door put in but it was gonna be twice as much. I almost wish I went ahead and did that.

I'm not dissatisfied with American Home Shield but I haven't had to have very much stuff done besides the garage door. I like the fact that I got my garage door fixed so quickly. That guy was knowledgeable and friendly. I'm just mad at myself that I had ordered a new garage door because I thought it was gonna have to be replaced but it was just a chain. I'm learning things as I'm going along. With the air conditioner, I'm gonna have to call somebody else to get it serviced because I haven't heard from this last place.

With AHS, submitting a claim is easy. I do it online and their website is good. But the customer service on the phone is awful. You might as well be calling Indonesia as there's a language barrier. Recently, we had a microwave go out. It's 12 years old and when the guy came, he had the part in hand and fixed it. He was in and out in 45 minutes, and since then, it's been working.

But three years ago, we went through three different technicians for our tankless hot water heater. Then we were told that we had to replace it and our part was going to be $1,200. So I was geared up for that. But then, I told them that I needed one more person to come out because I wanted somebody to flush it. So, they used my instructions and flushed out the hot water heater. And it's been working perfectly ever since then. So, my experience was really sketchy on that one. They should have done my instructions the first time. I was also pretty unhappy with it because I didn't have hot water for 40 days in the house. Aside from that, American Home Shield's AC people are a hit-and-miss, though it's hit-and-miss in the whole industry. I even had to call somebody else out besides American Home Shield because I didn't want to go through their rigmarole on AC that involved telling me I needed a new unit.

Other than that, we had a good experience with our washers and dryers, which AHS replaced. It took them a little while. They follow up on things, too. Also, the warranty is expensive at about $800 a year plus $100 every time a tech comes out. If I have a technician that I like, I might just call them because it probably cost the same.

I pay the fee and the serviceman comes out. They've been very kind and efficient. I had my garbage disposal jammed and I couldn't unjam it with anything. So, I had to call American Home Shield. Sean came out. He got here 9 o'clock, and by 10 o'clock he was finished. A screw had fallen into the sink and that is what kept the garbage from moving. Sean fixed it. He had a good attitude in terms of explaining to me what had happened, and he was very efficient.

I also had a refrigerator break down and the contractor came out, checked it and the serviceman said, "We can't fix this because we can't even get the parts for this anymore." So, I was given a voucher to get another refrigerator. I haven't got it because the products have been scarce. But I've looked at them and the amount that AHS gave me covers whatever I would get.

I've only had customer service one time that the person on the other line was not cooperative. I tried to explain that I wanted one vendor, but I could not have that vendor. So, I had to take the person that AHS sent. But I recommend AHS to everybody that I know. I have the top-of-the-line in the warranty so whatever needs to be done, I only had to pay the service fee. When I first got it, the fee was $50. It has gone up to $100 now. But it's worth it.

I did claim for my air conditioner and American Home Shield was great. But they didn't realize that I had a special type of air conditioner. Mine's a Carrier Infinity and it doesn't work like a regular air conditioner. It has speed drives in it and an inverter changes it to DC powered run motors. It doesn't make any noise unlike a regular air conditioner that goes bang. Mine has five different speeds to it instead of just one. The issue was the board blew on my air conditioner.

I called American Home Shield and told them about my unit. It happened to be Saturday night, so nobody was able to come out until Tuesday. We had to get the right contractor that could work on this. American Home Shield did their job. They got the contractor and he was absolutely great. The part was hard to get and when the first part came in, the contractor looked at it and said, "Hey, this is a used part and it ain't no good." American Home Shield had to order another one and they got one the next day. The contractor put the part in and away we went. We had an air conditioner. We had to go about almost a week without air and that was a hot summer down here in Florida.

Aside from this claim, I got a new $700 microwave from American Home Shield and it only cost me $125 every time. For this air conditioning thing, the price for the board was $870. Air conditioning guys jack that up to twice the price. With the labor, it would have been a $2,000 bill, but it only cost me $125 with American Home Shield. I have and would recommend them to anybody.

I had a water heater that was worn out and it flooded my home. I called up AHS by phone and they got back to me within a day or so. It was over the weekend, so I had to wait a couple of days before the contractor could come out. Vermilion Plumbing came and checked the unit. They had to replace it and I had to wait three days for them to order the unit, get it approved, and get it installed. But the first unit that they got didn't work when they put it in so I had to wait another day or two. They had to come back out and replace the heater core but that didn't work. Then, they came back out and replaced the whole heater.

They did it in as quick time as they could as far as dealing with AHS. They had to try to put a part in and fix it before they could give me a new unit, which I didn't understand. Once they brought the new one out, if it didn't work, they should have just automatically bought me another unit instead of waiting another couple of days, People were taking cold showers for three days. It was just unfortunate. Also, I had a problem before with the air conditioning unit and it took like a month to get it. That process, to me, takes a long time.

We called AHS on May 24th and so far, three different companies have come out to fix the problem, but the problem still exists. The guy from the first company came and changed one part. The dishwasher wasn't drying or cleaning, and he changed the spinner. But it’s just a spinner where the water comes out. The second guy came and he changed the top spinner, then he came back and changed a valve. Afterwards, he came back and changed the soap dispenser. The thing started cleaning better but it's not drying at all. And there's still food and it's not removing things from the dishes.

Then the tech from Sears came and he did an alignment. He took the whole thing and didn't replace anything. He just reinstalled it and it seemed like it was working for him. But we realized that if you put it in an hour cycle with dryer, it doesn't dry. And if you put it in a full cycle, it cleans better but it doesn't dry as it was doing before. It's a 2015 model and they just don’t know what’s the problem. But I'm not saying that they're bad. All of the companies came and they did what they told AHS. Other than that, AHS did the garage door and we had to pay 400 bucks out of our own pocket for that. Also, their reps have been friendly and if you're talking phone calls only, they're excellent. But their commercial says more than what they really are. Plus, the warranty is a little more expensive than their counterparts.

It was just the communication issue that May Heating initially told us they were only available between 9:00 and 4:00. So, we pushed out a further appointment. And when the tech came that day, we weren't able to be here. So we had to reschedule.

I had to call American Home Shield back and let them know. We were trying to work with the contractor but they only have traditional hours and when they said they offer a Saturday, we called back and scheduled for one. It would have been helpful to know that upfront because we could have gotten a Saturday appointment way in advance. We went three weeks with no air. The other issue I had where I had to call in was because I got the recent rate increase. I called in and the rep from AHS said that I could ask for a review of my coverage. They did the review of the coverage and I had to remove some of the services just to continue to afford it.

They were very small and had no parts on hand, and that didn't fix it. It was a month in the summer when I was without air conditioning. They kept coming and trying to fix it. They were very diligent. They would say they ordered the part and when the part comes in, they would get us on the schedule. The part came in and they took three runs at it. It may have been several things broken. But they got it fixed and that was fine. That's the only inconvenience that I had. AHS uses small businesses that are just trying to get started and this gives them clientele. But I've had very good success with it.

I just had my washer and dryer worked on and the guy was a nice Christian fellow. I've not had any attitude problems. AHS told me the contractor would be calling and they did. They set up an appointment and the guy came in the next day or two. He fixed one thing on my washer and had to order a part. My dryer was also having an issue and he fixed that while he was here. He said he would be back to fix the washer when the part came in. He came back and he was just a super nice guy. My washer and dryer are in the garage and it's kinda hot out there. I set a fan out there and he said that wasn't necessary but thanked me. He got his job done and he was very personable.

Everybody around this time of year is suffering with the air conditioning system and I had to wait a week and two days, and it was indescribable. It was so hot here in Savannah. The techs came out and checked the air conditioner. I thought the unit just needed to be replaced because it had been with this house since it was built. But they said that the problem was the coil. It had a hole in it and the wiring, and the Freon. AHS took care of the other part and I had to pay for the Freon, which came to $1,550. It hit me hard because I didn't have it but I had to pull it out of my savings to do it. But other than that, since I have American Home Shield, they have been very good at getting somebody to do repairs. It just took so long.

AHS responds and gets the problem taken care of. The problem was the contractor. There's nothing that we can do about it. But the contract that I had could have helped me out with the Freon part. I’ve been with AHS for many years now and so far, things are good. I recommended my son and he signed a contract with them. But the sales part can give more clarity to the customer buying the policy because I thought I got the max policy, which the rep said I didn't.

They enlighten me about a lot of things on how to take care of some of the appliances. When I had a problem with the Moen faucet, they told me to call Morn and get a new part. When it came in, they put it in.

Recently, a contractor fixed a washing machine that was bouncing around the laundry room. The guy knew exactly after five minutes. He came out on Wednesday and had to order a part. There's no live body involved when filing a claim with American Home Shield. That's a disconcerting thing about it. That was why I called and they arranged for a plumber to come out. They called the next day and had to schedule me for a day and a half later. American Home Shield is an inexpensive way to troubleshoot things. The upside is if you got an old home, you're covered. The downside to them is their contractor is gonna have the least expensive, quickest fix to try to correct the problem. If it happens to work, which in this case it did, they leave. Everybody's happy until it craps out six hours later. Now, you gotta go through the whole process again.

It's an 11-year-old water heater. They should look at replacing it but they don't. They wanna go through these steps. Every time you take a step, it costs $75 to walk in the door. You're at their mercy as far as what kind of work they're gonna do and also what they're gonna replace it with if they need to replace it. When I tried to go back through, I got a person on the phone that I couldn't understand. I was talking to somebody in the Philippines from a call center. I asked to talk to a supervisor and she put me on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up then called back. I got somebody in the Philippines again. I told the rep I needed to speak to a supervisor and they put me on hold again so I hung up. 24 hours later, a supervisor calls me from the Philippines but they were reading from a script.

When we first started with American Home Shield, we were paying 30 some dollars a month. Now, we're paying $62 plus a month. Their premiums continue to go up incrementally, but their coverages go down. At some point, they covered a refrigerator. Now, they don't. You have to put a separate rider on your policy in order to get a refrigerator covered. I'm a little frustrated with American Home Shield. But they served their purpose over the last 20 years since we've had them.

I had an issue with the air conditioning. The techs have come back three different times. Initially, the tech diagnosed the first problem to be the blower. They came a few times because the wrong part was sent by American Home Shield the first time. But then, the correct part was sent quickly after that. replaced the blower motor but now the issue might be the condenser coil dripping. Also, the box that contains the whole air handler needs to be replaced so I'm waiting to hear from the AHS.

Previous to having AHS, everyone was telling me, "Christian, nothing comes of a home warranty. They'll do anything to get out of having to pay." With my first two experiences, I had to pay 100 bucks but don't know where you can spend something like that and get something completely resolved. We also had the whole house rekeyed for $100 and I'm happy with that. Things break and if you don't have the budget for it, what are you gonna do? AHS is designed for bigger ticket items like the AC and ductwork which I'm sure are covered.

Yesterday, the technician came for the refrigerator. He said the refrigerator was totally broken so he had to submit a report to AHS. They have to change a compressor. And we’ve been out of a fridge for four days. It's so difficult because that happened on a Friday. American Home Shield sent the request right away to the contractor. They called me but Friday was so busy and we didn’t have an appointment. Then Saturday and Sunday came. It happened overnight. In the morning we saw that the refrigerator was not working, so we had to throw away so much food. It's difficult without a fridge. So, I hope they resolve the problem as soon as possible.

We had a claim in the past for the bathroom shower. The showerhead was falling down so the techs came and fixed it right away. They said they could fix it but we wanted to replace it. We already bought a new showerhead so they put in that one. It was very fast. I always submit my claims to American Home Shield over the phone and it’s a very good experience.

I had a bad experience about a month ago with my refrigerator. The compressor went out. It was gonna take a month for the techs to come out until I called American Home Shield and told them I needed somebody to come and look at the refrigerator. They sent some Sears people within four days. But they had to order a compressor, which took a week, and the compressor sat here in my house for four days until the techs came and put it on. Supposedly, the technicians lived 100 miles away from my house. I was here without a refrigerator for two weeks and I was using an ice chest to put all my groceries. So, that was a bad experience.

This is my second time using AHS. The techs came and fixed my refrigerator for the first time about six months ago. They came from Yuma and were here within three days. The refrigerator was making a noise. It got full of ice in the back and a fan was hitting the ice. So, they changed a bunch of thermostats back there. When you got a little bit of an emergency and you're without a refrigerator, AHS doesn’t worry about you. They don't take into consideration whether you are out of the refrigerator or not. But Sears made a big effort and came right away. AHS doesn't go out of their way to help you out.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is somewhat frustrating. They always have some hidden charges or something that's not covered or not clearly covered, but you're still paying monthly and you still pay for a service fee. If it's not covered, then they should return the service fee. I had an electrical claim that was denied because it's external electrical flood lights. I had the electrical portion within my service agreement, but they said it wasn't covered. I paid the technician to come out, and they looked at it. They sent the work order back to American Shield, and they denied it.

I also had a claim on my washer. It was unbalanced. When it went into the spin cycle, it did take off and flew across the room. I did a service request, and the man came out and said the shock was broken. It took about a week to get the party in. I didn't understand why it took so long to get a shock in for that washer. But then once it came in, they came right out and repaired it. They only replace one. To me, if it has four, they should have replaced all four. One of the other ones might go out. The tech was great and professional. I've only done a couple of loads but it's working fine so far. American Home Shield's website is a little bit confusing, but you can talk your way through it. I had a contract in 2018 that comes up, but I don't have my 2022 contract that shows up automatically. They just need to redesign it and make sure that the current information is on at the present.

The refrigerator stopped cooling and the freezer no longer worked. And more recently, we had the techs come out again and they repaired it. On this last occasion, the tech walked me through and told me what it was. I met the technician personally, and he shared with me what he thought was the issue. They had to order the part. He didn't have it with him so he came back. But it was a little later than he had predicted. I wasn’t there when he installed it because I was out. But it was working. Then all of a sudden, it went down again.

I'm at a point now where we've lost food and we have a tenant who’s very upset. She has a sizable family and has a lot of food. At first, it was just the freezer, and all of a sudden, she said the refrigerator went out, too. Nothing was cool. So within a span of four days, we didn't hear from the technician. I got back with dispatch and she promised to put it on the high-priority list. So I'm waiting today and see where I am on the priority list.

AHS is a reputable company. I've heard some stories before I even got into it but I had also spoken to people who had used them that were very positive. The team of people who work from dispatch seem very caring and they do their best to try to make sure we connect clearly about what the expectations are as far as time and the quality of what needs to be done. So, I don't have a problem with that. I deal with contractors all over and I don't try to slam people for missing a time as long as they give me some kind of feedback.

AHS stands up to the warranty coverage that applies in the contract. But it’s always that in-between questions that might come up about things, something as simple as losing food. And food price is not cheap nowadays. I had an inkling that it wasn't so much written very clearly that food being spoiled but I kinda had it in the back of my mind they didn't cover that type of thing. Things like that are probably a little more prevalent. It goes hand in hand with some appliances. When they go out, they could cause other damage. And maybe it should be one of the high items of clarity that people know that spoiled food from a burnt-out refrigerator is not covered.

The price of AHS is comparable to what I've seen. I've seen some cheaper but I haven't gotten the same reviews from everybody else. Those who start up come in with a good game and all of a sudden, if they blunder along the way, their image is smeared. So those who keep up a good image after starting, they’re always the ones I look at. I put a lot of credence into how well they're perceived by the public.

The online tools I've used and the aspect of being able to maneuver and navigate in it freely are very good. By and large, it's available. I certainly have made use of it in the past. The big thing with a lot of it is when you get a call, the reps wanna know your contract number. Any time you don't walk around with that in your head, you have to go rambling. But the system has a way of at least getting you further. The people online say you don't necessarily have to have a contract number, they ask for your last name and off they go. So I don't see a problem with it. The online system is just another access mode to the benefit of the consumer. I generally try to have a personal contact with American Home Shield. When I talk to people personally, I feel a lot more comfortable with the name and I try to make sure I stay in that lane and try to get the job completed.

The last visit was a reschedule after reschedule. When the repair people came out, they replaced something on the air conditioner, but the AC is still not cooling correctly. I gave them a call for a re-check and this is the fourth time. They're not responding. The month before that, they came by to fix the unit as well. This is in one of my rental properties and they wanted me to pay for the service call again. I will not recommend American Home Shield, and I will probably be canceling with them.

I had a leak in my sink which was coming from where the drain meets the sink. Plumb Genius came out and they realized they had to change that and the garbage disposal. So, that was what they did and I had no problems at all with it. The little dude who came in looked it over, told me what was going on, and proceeded to do what he had to do. It took him 30 minute tops. Everything is now functioning the way they're supposed to.

I submitted this claim online with AHS and they had a fairly basic website. It asks if you want to file a claim, then you go down and pick what category it's under. It might not be quite specific enough, but it gets you in that area. And they know from there if they need more info. Then they schedule the right people to come and do the work for you. For this claim, Plumb Genius sent a text message saying that they've been assigned as my contractor, then they gave me a date when the tech would come out. Also, 30 minutes prior, they let me know that the technician was on the way.

I'd tell others to go ahead and use AHS. They’re not bad and they treated me well. The customer service was quick and easy. But the coverage is nowhere near general enough. For instance, they might cover this part on the sink, but they might not cover this. Or they might cover this and this, but you have to pay a little extra to get this part covered. They get a little too specific in what you can cover. What they need is an à la carte coverage where I can pick exactly what components I want covered. For instance, most of us don't have the in wall vacuum cleaner system, so we don't need that bundled in the coverages that we want.

It was also user-friendly and the information they gave about the company was clear. The person who came out was professional and within a day, my microwave was fixed. One of the parts was burnt so, he changed it. He said that it's the most common thing that happens, so they always carry the part with them. So it was very quick and since then, the microwave's performance has been perfect. I would encourage people to take AHS as their appliance insurance because I love their quick response and easy access.

I sent in a claim when the refrigerator quit working. The one side wouldn't cool off. The contractor found that there was a switch that defrosted that would let it freeze up. So the tech had to replace the switch, but then the refrigerator still didn't work. There's a switch that transfers the air from the freezer to the refrigerator and that was out. It took three weeks for the part to come in. But the service they did was fantastic. They got it fixed now. The technician was very good. But the issue I had was the three weeks waiting on the part. I had my food over in my sister's refrigerator for three weeks. But I know that Home Shield or even Sears had no control over getting a part. Home Shield did help me with that. They said that there was a refund of $75 on the service call. So, I'm happy with that and I recommend them to anybody.

Hello. I purchased a new home this year and bought coverage from AHS with specific adder for pool coverage. After living in the home for a short amount of time, the pool heater stopped working. There was an error message on the screen about a temp sensor so I figured no problem, this is why I bought the coverage so I called it in for warranty. This was around 5/30/23. The tech came in, saw the message, noted it in his report and then also noted that the unit caught fire...

The claim ended up being denied for fire damage and the rep at AHS that I spoke to didn't even have the sentence from his write-up regarding the temp sensor needing replacement...I don't believe the unit has ever caught fire as it is a new house to me. It is a heater so probably gets hot from time to time. It is rather old but to me doesn't look old nor does it look like it caught fire. I called AHS to complain and they sent out a second Tech from another company.

This tech was at my house on June 13th for maybe 5 minutes. He said yep the temp sensor is broken and needs replaced. He took nothing apart, did zero tests etc. He says nothing about anything that would disqualify me from coverage. I even get a text that says parts are on order after he leaves. Then I get a call or email or whatever that the claim is denied for chemical damage. Again, the tech mentioned nothing of the sort to me and did zero tests and took nothing apart to show there was chemical damage. I called in to argue this with AHS several times and was hung up on several times. It would be one thing if they removed the sensor, found chemical damage and then wrote it up as such. AHS needs to just man up and fix the problem that was found (heater temp sensor) and should be covered under my policy.

AHS has been great for us. We got the highest package available to us and with that, they've been able to do everything we've asked. Their call line is 24 hours. The vendors that they've sent to our home have been very good too. Filing a claim has been very pleasant. For my recent claim, I called and it was very straightforward. The call agent asked other appropriate questions, asking what type of GE appliance it was. Admittedly, I didn't know there were a lot of differences. But with that, I did a quick Google, was able to get the answer. They sent the right GE vendor out. He was able to assess the problem. And he was in and out within 30 minutes.

The tech who came out was professional. He even found an issue that we didn't know we had. One of the other lights went out. So we were able to fix that right while he was here. It was easy-peasy. We just renewed our year. While I was on the call doing that renewal, they answered all my questions in regard to what's covered. That was helpful. They also were able to help us get our air conditioning fixed a few months ago during the heatwave. That was great as well. Everything I've expected to be covered has been covered.

I had a water leak on my washer and I called American Home Shield, and they assigned somebody out of Sears. They came, decided what was wrong with it, ordered parts and the parts got shipped to the house. Then, the Sears guys came back and fixed the problem. It was just a rubberized part and it’s working fine. I’ve had a little bit different issue with my fridge and we’ve had ongoing issues. We had an ice maker problem probably a month ago and the day before the techs came out, it started working again. But I didn't cancel the appointment because I wanted them to check it out. They couldn't find anything obvious though. They made sure the temperatures were correct and leveled the fridge because it recently got moved back in after a major interior remodel. But a week later, it stopped producing ice again. So, I contacted American Home Shield and that's when the problems began.

AHS sent a request to the same Sears group and having just completed one regarding the original request on the fridge, they closed it out saying it was a duplicate kind of an issue. So it took me four more phone calls to American Home Shield before they convinced Sears it was the same issue repeating itself. When the guy came out, because the ice maker had been completely dead for 10 days, he said they got to tear the whole thing apart. It turned out it wasn't the ice maker. The computer motherboard that runs everything was not telling the system to defrost. It's an auto defrost system because it's a KitchenAid. It's a top-end fridge. He said it should work fine until the new motherboard comes in. It came in yesterday and they're coming tomorrow to replace it.

The guy told me that frost buildup takes a long time so it's not gonna rebuild up in the week in between ordering the part and it coming in. So, that's not an American Home Shield issue. That was the communication between Sears and them. I don't blame AHS at all for it. We've had multiple calls over the years and I've been happy with their service. They generally do a good job though there’s a very tiny communication issue once in a while. My wife and I live here in the country and we've got many things that are covered by them, including our well pump and the living space in our barn. It's great to have peace of mind that I have somebody I can call when something like this goes bad. Because years ago, when we first got this fridge worked on, it was a $1,000 repair. And it cost us 75 bucks for a service fee. So it's paid for itself every time we've used them. And it’s five grand if we ever have to replace our well.

We just renewed our contract with AHS and they've dropped some of their levels. They'll only cover $2,000 on appliances now. The reality is that's all due to inflation and it's a business decision that they have to make based on the amount of calls they're getting for those types of things. Although I don't like it necessarily, I understand it. I'd like them to stay in business to keep doing this so it's all good. AHS originally came with the purchase of the house and over the years, I've just continued it. But the little bit of research I have done tells me that American Home Shield is the most popular, best received, on the top end of things. So the price is exceptionally competitive and I can't argue with it. Especially for what it does plus it has paid for itself for many years.
