    I did a repair on my microwave and my dishwasher. I went online and put in the request, then they immediately notified me of the company that was coming to do the job. Then, I got a call from the company and they scheduled the repair appointment. They came to my house and got it fixed. The tech was very good. However, I have had this problem with my microwave for the longest. It should be replaced. I have been repairing the same thing every time. The amount of time and money I've spent on my microwave so far from them coming to fix it, $85, would have been enough for me to buy a new one and replace it myself. They would always repair.

    My dishwasher should be replaced too. They would manage it and fix it, and then they would bring it back working. But then, a couple of months later, I would have issues with them. I would pay another $80 to schedule another work so they would come and fix this, and then we would have issues again and would spend another $80.

    American Home Shield has been fine. But some of the contractors that they have brought up for the jobs have not been great. The technician that came out for the washer quit in the middle of our work order and no one followed up. So we had a washing machine that didn't work for weeks. It did get fixed eventually. American Home got down to the bottom of the fact that the contractors themselves just had a bad employee. But we were left with the short end of the stick. American Home Shield should be faster in getting a contractor to the customer.

    American Home Shield is awesome. I've used them twice. The first time, my refrigerator went out. They replaced it. The second time, I had a plumbing issue. The plumbers weren't able to resolve it, but it’s fine. I've had great experiences both times. I did some type of thing where I came out my pocket, but they're gonna reimburse me. I'm thinking how much it would cost me if I had to come out of pocket myself for both things as opposed to just having to pay the $100 and have to worry about nothing.

    The hot water heater stopped working and the contractor, Discount Contractors, was quick and had all the parts, and fixed it. So, I was happy. We’ve used them a couple of times now. One of the things in the contracts that I didn't realize is that you have to keep your equipment up to standards and it seems like any time they come out for a heat pump repair, there's something wrong with our unit that isn't up to standard. So that is our out-of-pocket cost. They won't even repair it unless you do that, which is very frustrating.

    We had the heat pump repaired and we had to pay $1,500 toward the Freon and another $400 for a locking seal on the Freon because it had a clamp, but it didn't have the specific lock you're supposed to have now under the standards. I could have called a repairman and paid about that so I was very frustrated. Then within five weeks, it was right back to where it was. And we still don’t have it working. They said there's another leak I don't have another $1,500 to drain the whole unit, fix the leak and put it all back in there. American Home Shield doesn’t cover any of the Freon and then we have to pay any upgrades that are required based on the unit being out of date.

    The whole process has been easy. We've only had to make three claims and every time, it's been super painless. The people who come out have been good. Recently, the filtration system in our house, the discharge for that was leaking, and we had a couple other small leaks in the pipe. The plumber came out and fixed the discharge of the filtration system and the leaks in the pipe, and he was done in an hour. He was awesome. A home warranty is one of those things that will pay for itself, and it's definitely worth it if you have a house that continuously nickel and dimes you. It’s definitely paid for itself when it comes to my service. American Home Shield is still good even though their monthly rates have gone up. I get it too. Everything's going up.

    Our refrigerator light was out so it was hard to see inside it. A couple of the burners on our gas stove would not light as well. I went online, submitted a request for service, and I had no trouble doing that.     My dryer wouldn't start and American Home Shield replaced it. They were wonderful. But I was totally ticked with my garage door claim because I called and told them exactly what happened to it and they told me that would be $75. But then I had to pay Overhead Door more money because American Home Shield did not cover all of it. If you tell me that it's $75, don't come back and tell me I owe another $350 because you don't cover the spring when I specifically told you the spring was broken. I'm paying $80 a month for something that's not covered. The vendors have been wonderful but I won't recommend them at all if they don't say upfront what's covered. Also, every time I have a visit, my rate goes up.

    The hot water heater in my house quit working. I sent in the claim online and the website was very user-friendly. American Home Shield told me who the contractor was and their phone number, and if they haven't called within 24 hours, to give them a buzz and set up an appointment. The contractor was very forward-leaning. They called my wife and set up an appointment. When they came out, they looked at the water heater, and then they went up and there's a valve upstairs that is responsible for the hot water. But sometimes, the cold water will co-mingle with the hot water, so the water won't get as hot as it should. That's the valve they ended up replacing and we've had no issues since then. It's worked like a charm.

    We are not happy with AHS. We will not be renewing once our year is up. We have had issues with our electrical work. We have done service requests with them four times. They sent different electricians out who have told us different things each time, supposedly fixed different things each time. The last one that was at our house said that we needed an upgrade because we had a 100-watt breaker box and was bringing well over 100 wattages. It was denied. We weren't told that it was denied until the very last day of the service request grace period.

    A few weeks ago, I came home to no power. We called and they just gave us the runaround. They told us that they couldn't help us, or give us any information unless we paid another $100 in service fees, which I refused because we've had these issues for a while now. I've been paying service fee after service fee. Nothing is getting done. We had to replace the breaker box out of our own pocket, which put us in debt. There's no point in having a home warranty if they're not willing to help us with things when we apply these service fees and requests. But all of the technicians that have serviced our house have been very kind and personable. Also, there had been other services, like our washing machine that we've had to get fixed and they were very helpful with that. It's just when it comes to dealing with AHS and its customer service, it's not the best.

    Draingo came out because my disposal quit working. And the tech called and said that he would go ahead and pick another disposal up and bring it in case mine couldn't be fixed. But it was jammed. So, he unjammed it and got it working. The next day, it stopped working. We reset it again the way he showed us. And two days later, it stopped working again. It was a wasted trip. I needed to be scheduled an afternoon time period, because I couldn't get off work the entire day. And they told me that they could do that. But when they confirmed it, they said I was on their schedule. And whenever they called, if I wasn't home, they would put me at the end of the line and come another day.

    So, I took the afternoon off. The contractor didn't get there until 5:45, and I'm usually home by 5 o'clock every day. If I had known that, I wouldn't have had to take a day off work. The repair guy that came out was very nice and efficient. But the whole experience and the fact that I still don't have a disposal has me a little put out. And I couldn't see spending another $125 for them to come out and say, "We'll fix it and let us know if it breaks again." We got a new one and we're going to put it in ourselves.

    All of my other experiences have been fine. Whenever I've needed a repair, contractors have come out. I usually have to take a day off work because they don't come after hours or weekends. My first few experiences were during the pandemic when it was difficult to get parts. So, the only downside to those experiences was, we had to schedule a second or third visit because they couldn't get all the parts in. So, it took longer. But I can't blame them for that. There's just weren't any parts available. But once they got the parts in, the contractor came out and got them fixed. And everything that they have repaired continues to work fine. So, I'm happy.

    I used the chat feature in September of this year and canceled my prior homeowner's warranty because I sold the house. The new owners did not want the home warranty, which was fine. However, after canceling, the past few months have been the worst experience of my life regarding customer service. First, I kept getting billed for the months on my former property after I called and canceled. Second, I spent needless hours talking to different people and transferred countless times. Finally, when I reached the correct party to speak to, I was told it would be on a case-by-case basis to determine if there would be an early cancellation fee.

    So, I sold my house and no longer have the property, but I still need to pay a fee? Crazy. Then this week, I found out there is still an outstanding balance for October and November, even though I canceled back in Sept. Honestly, no one knows what they are doing at this company. All they do is harass you for a bill that is no longer your responsibility. I want my admin fee back, the final payment I needed to make, and the remaining balance removed since I canceled in September.

    Our whole AC system is shot. I didn a claim online for it and American Home Shield called and let me know when the service people would be there. The tech that came said the furnace was broken. He said it was just too outdated but it's not. He also said that our furnace was cracked but it isn't. My dad's been in AC his entire life. When he looked at it, he said, “There's no crack in this at all. A motor replacement would have been just fine.” But the tech assumed that we just needed an entire new furnace. The tech was friendly and nice. But he just didn't spend enough time. He was there for maybe five minutes and then he left. In the end, my dad ordered the motor and we just didn't renew our American Home Shield. The home warranty did well. It was just the warranty didn't cover what I imagined it would. I probably wouldn't use it again. It didn't pay for anything.

    My most recent claim with AHS was the heater. It just blew cold through the house if you had it set on. It ended up being, the heater motor was bad so it had to be replaced. The tech got there quickly. The only real issue, timing-wise, was I had sent pictures of the part numbers and serial numbers for the unit, and for the part itself that was bad. Because I have a service contract with an AC company in this town for cleaning on the system twice a year.

    While they were here to do the cleaning, they had it pulled apart. I was asking if they've had issues with that house previously with heat, and they never have. So I had taken pictures of the parts to try to expedite the process a little bit. The company that was getting contracted would have the info already before they got there just in case. So they would maybe have the part available to do it then. But it wasn't relayed to the contracted company.

    As soon as he got there, it took about 15 minutes. He said, “It needs this motor.” But they had to go back to get it ordered. Then it was three weeks before it got done. But otherwise, it all went fine. The company that AHS contracted this time was significantly better than the one I've dealt with for other AC-related stuff. They worked with me a little bit better with my schedule. They got everything done timely and I trust the work.

    When SNK came out, they did my AC compressor. But it took a little bit to get them out there to get that taken care of. I've also had a claim put in for the air ducts under the house in the crawlspace. SNK got put on as a contractor for that. But no one ever went to my house the day they said someone came out and checked it. The guy gave me his personal cellphone number to reach out to him about it after they did the AC. But he wouldn't return calls or texts now. I don't know what's going on with that.

    Regarding AHS, everything I've put in service requests for has gotten taken care of pretty quickly. I had an emergency service order put in at one point for my water heater. They had me do a video chat with them so they could see the unit and get the numbers off of it. It was four days before a company was able to be found and contracted out to show up. But they were able to get that taken care of quickly. Since they had me do that video chat to get the information, they didn't have to send someone out and then come back later on. It was instantly approved for whenever someone came.

    They also have other coverage for different stuff. I had to add in the roof coverage. That would be a good thing for roof leaks if it's automatically in that base one. I ended up paying another $100 to have someone come out. They came out and they checked it. They took care of the roof leak in one spot. I told them that I found it inside my attic. But they didn't go inside the attic.

    I like that American Home Shield sets up all of my appointments whenever I have an issue with anything to do with my home. They're quick and convenient. The website is amazing and easy to use.     We had Tompkins Appliance come out. They fixed our issue we were having with our refrigerator (the inside metal bar was overheating). They were good at communicating. They called us when they were on their way. They were very professional when they were working on the refrigerator. They were very prompt in getting the part and scheduling when they could come back to install it.

    The process for submitting a claim with American Home Shield has always been good, with the exception of one time due to environmental circumstances. But they've always been efficient about getting somebody dispatched right away. We've been happy with the service and we recommend them to other people. I appreciate that the monthly payment that goes towards having the coverage is affordable.

    We've had quite a few things that the vendors with AHS have worked on. Recently, they've worked on a dishwasher and a refrigerator. They’ve had to take multiple trips. They're trying to repair the icemaker on the refrigerator. They're coming in for the fourth time next Wednesday. The dishwasher was three trips as well. I don't think they were able to completely identify the entire problem. But Asset Appliance is one of the better ones we’ve had. They're diligent and they finished the job. The biggest problem is you end up with flaky vendors that don't take ownership of the work. Some of the vendors are low quality.

    If you have to replace an appliance, that's where it gets difficult with AHS. Their vendor put a single- stage air conditioner in to replace one for me years ago. They were supposed to come back and put the right one in. They refused to do it. I've talked to the vendor and to AHS probably 20 times. They have this weird process where they don't allow you to escalate an issue. The people that are on the frontlines tell you they're going to do it, but they don't.

    They ought to replace the unit with something that's similar functionality and quality and not make it so difficult. Every time I have to pay AHS a charge, I pay it. I don't fuss around with it. But for some reason, they have this weird business model where it's better to piss people off. It's been aggravating to have that type of experience with them over something that's important. The single stage system instead of a dual stage increases my electricity bill. It's a big house so there's a lot of heating and air conditioning requirements through the year. I've had three different policies with American Home Shield over the years. After all this time, I’m not sure if it's worth the money and the hassle of it, or not.

    I had a blockage in the pipe in my bathtub and the contractor couldn't find the cleanout anywhere. So, he put a snake down the drain and a little bit of hair came out. Then, he poured a liquid down there and it’s fine now. I haven't had another blockage and the water's going through. The gentleman who was here was professional. I normally never have an issue with American Home Shield. They're fast. Normally, when I have an issue, it's with the actual contractors.

    The other claim that I submitted to American Home Shield had to do with an electric fan that was not turning on and it is not fixed completely because the gentleman who was here initially ordered the wrong part. Then, they received the part but I'm still waiting for them. It's been three months now. I've placed other claims in the past where the contractors ordered the wrong part and I had to wait another month because of the supply chain shortage. But I like that if American Home Shield can't fix it, they replace it. I'm always recommending them to family members and friends.

    Some lighting was wrong around the back or was not working functionally as it should and I needed the contractor to conduct some reviews to see if the wiring was acting up or if some of the lighting was off. Apparently, it was more external factors than actual internal factors. The contractor was very personal. This is my second property and American Home Shield did such a good job the first time that I went with them again. I would recommend it. They have good service and they’re always available.

    We've only used American Home Shield once in all these years and the gentleman has been working on our dishwasher. So, he has had to come back a couple of times because there was a new issue that happened after the first time. But right now, it seems to be working good. He got a new part.     The icemaker on my Samsung refrigerator was leaking. When I put the cup under there to get ice, a whole bunch of water would come first. The techs have come out three times and this is the second time they've had to change the icemaker. American Home Shield’s contractors are very knowledgeable and come when they say they're coming. They let me know that they're on the way. If you want security where you don't have to deal out a lot of money, AHS is worth having. I have mentioned it to some of my family members and they asked me if it works and if it’s good. So, I have told them. I'm not able to repair things myself and I can call someone to come out and do it without having to dish out a whole lot of money. I just pay my deductible.

    The techs came in and fixed the problem immediately. They even gave me a tool thing that could help me fix it when that happens again. So, they were great and I liked them. A few months back, I had another claim with AHS where I had the techs come look at my AC that went out in the summertime. With the warranty, I only have to pay the $55 a month now.     I get alerts from American Home Shield about who is assigned to the claim and when they're supposed to be arriving. I also get either a call from the contractor or they ask me to call the contractor to set up a time. Alert Appliances came out for the refrigerator. It stopped working and I couldn't adjust the temperature. They said they had to replace the control panel and they would order the parts, which they did. When the parts came in, they contacted me and then came out and repaired it. I've been happy with American Home Shield.     So far, American Home Shield has been exactly what they say they are. They’re there when I call, and the people they've sent out here aren't gonna win any beauty contests, but they've all known what they were doing and got it fixed. My air conditioner failed recently. I called the home warranty company yesterday morning, and they gave me the name of the contractor they were gonna send it to. That contractor called me yesterday afternoon, and they just left after fixing the air conditioner. Before that, my oven door came off. The plastic handle stripped after years of use, and apparently, that handle holds the whole door together. That oven was 15 years old, and they couldn't find parts, so they bought me a new range.

    If you're buying something brand new, all your appliances, they have warranties. However, if you're buying a condo that was completed in 2007, something 15 years old, then the refrigerators, ranges, and air conditioners are gonna start to wear out. Given that, the home warranty has more than paid for itself. Also, when there has been a hiccup or an issue, I've been able to call American Home Shield and they're very responsive to that. They’re there to help fix it. The contractor that got to work on the oven was having trouble getting to the right person to approve a new oven since there was no way to fix the door. I called and got somebody who immediately transferred me over to someone. I gave them the phone number and the name of the person at the oven repair place. They called them right then, and it was all taken care of.

    Back in the summer, I was having a problem with the air condition. American Home Shield sent a company out to look at it. And they determined that it was a compressor. So, they ordered one. When another guy came out, which seemed to be more experienced, as he started to put the compressor in, he realized it wasn't the compressor. It was a bunch of capacitors. So, he put that on there and got me up and going, which was great. It saved them some money too.

    But when I tried to turn my heat on, heat wouldn't come out. So, I had to call. It cost me another $100. It's $100 deductible each time for them to come out, to find out what's wrong with the heat. Come to find out the reason why the heat wasn't working is because when they took the covers off the unit under the house, they didn't put whatever it is on it that allows it to work. So, when he came out, he turned, snapped it and locked, and I had heat. Still cost me $100.

    The first person that inspected it that said it needed a compressor probably wasn’t as trained as the rest of them. But it cost me $100 more than it should have.

    It would be different if there was something really wrong with it. But you just got to snap the safeties on the cover. I wouldn't have known that even if I went in there to look. So, it cost me $100 any way I look at it. But I like the service so far.

    The guy who came out for the air conditioning was very proactive. It took about a week and a half to resolve because the parts had to be ordered. But it worked out. It was a good experience but I've had prior experiences where I was not happy. A metal part went inside the garbage disposal and it got stuck. The repair guy couldn’t free it and he said it wasn’t covered. I had to spend $200, to install a new one. So, that call not only cost me $75 for him to come out, but he charged me on top of it so didn’t appreciate that because we're paying this money. Whatever happened with the paperclip to go in there was accidental and I don't know if accidental damage is covered or not. It was almost a bait-and-switch. But I don't know what the contract says.

    When I had issues with my parents’ property that's under contract, the tech said that there was a problem with a heat pump. The guy insisted that the thermostat was faulty. He wanted to charge my parents $400 to replace a thermostat that would be compatible with that unit. My parents operated that heat pump for 10 years with that thermostat and it was working just fine. All of a sudden, it stopped working. He charged $75 and he wanted to charge more. When I called AHS to discuss this, they said that piece wasn't covered and they couldn’t do anything about it. I finally got the cost back but it took about four different calls. On each one of them, I had to wait almost an hour on the phone for somebody to answer. So, the AHS customer service is extremely poor on the back end and I'm not sure that I'm going to be even renewing the contract with them.

    For the most part, they'll come out and replace stuff if it breaks for just the service fee. Although, sometimes you have to pay extra for some things, but they'll come out, and they're pretty quick to respond, and they take care of stuff. I like to call in my claim so I know I'm talking to somebody and that they're responding immediately. Whereas if you go online, you don't know if people are reading the stuff right away or when they're gonna get to it.

    When I called in a claim on a Wednesday, the contractor was there on Friday. They were excellent. When the tech called to set up the appointment, he asked once again what the problem was, and he also asked me to send him pictures so he would be able to look at them and hopefully bring the right parts. Sure enough, he showed up and had the part and got it fixed really quick.

    The technician who came was wonderful. The heater needed to be replaced. I was very happy with the work that was done. However, I ended up having to pay close to $700 to have that paid. When I called American Home Shield to try to get an understanding about exactly why I had to pay that much, the person could not give me any kind of clear understanding. I talked to the gentleman who came to do repairs and he told me something but it still didn't make sense to me.

    There should be some clarity and understanding around what's covered and what's not covered. I came from the insurance industry, so I clearly understand how policies work. Some things are covered, some things are not. I don't have an issue with that. But I have an issue with whoever it is not being able to communicate that to me and showing me where that is in my agreement. I have an issue with a lack of clarity, just sending me an email that says I owe 700 and some odd dollars then they'll take care of the rest of it. My question is what exactly are they paying for? This is not the first time that's happened, but I have been reticent to go to another company because I don't know how other people operate.

    AZA Repair, the contractor, struggled to get the microwave fixed. But in the end, they did and it’s working great now. They ended up coming out four different times and I had to pay for two of them, which didn't thrill me. One of their guys came out and replaced some of the little circuits in the control panel. The warranty is only good for 30 days and in 35 days, it quit. So I called American Home Shield and said that 35 days ago, the guy was out to fix the microwave and it's exactly the same broken thing. And they said that it was terrible and they were sorry. But it's past the 30-day warranty. So if I want them to come back or somebody else to come back, I've got to pay for the service fee again. I paid for them to come back because the microwave wasn't working at all. Since it's a built-in, my choice was replace it on my own or have the techs come fix it or replace it.

    The second guy that AHS sent out was a kid who googled the symptoms and cleaned the contacts. It was working for about 20 hours and then it quit again. So I called back the next day and said it's been 20 hours since the kid was here. But the kid said that if it fails again, they'll replace the control panel. The kid comes back out and this is visit number three. He doesn't argue. He just said that he was there to get the information to replace the control panel. It was annoying, but it was good. He took the pictures of all the different numbers he needed and ordered the control panel. Then when the part came in, he came back and replaced it.

    I've had AHS for four years and I kept them because I didn't want to be bothered trying to figure out who to call. It's one number, you call them. It's probably covered. They send somebody, which is the biggest benefit to me. But they've replaced only one thing, which was a bathroom faucet. Another kid came out and said he couldn’t fix it so they’ll just get a new one. It was cool but the one they brought in was lesser quality than the one they took out. They did the service but they didn't do it fabulously.

    My bathroom flooded and I noticed the water levels in my toilets were really low. Then they started gurgling in the bathtub and the toilet. So, I submitted a claim with AHS online and their website was fairly simple. I like the ease of use of their program. Then I got something from AHS that said my claim had been dispatched and that the contractor would be calling me soon. So that wasn't very informative. But when the tech came out, I felt at ease with him. He wasn't full of crap and was pretty honest. He had gotten underneath the house and found that there were some other stuff that I had to put through my homeowners insurance under there. So he was going to have to push the work off to the next day. But then it started snowing and he said that he didn't want to deal with it the next day. So he said he was just going to cancel his other stuff and was going to get it done that day. We had a big main line break out in the yard and he fixed that.

    The very first time that the contractor came out was because the water heater kept going out. The igniter wouldn't start the fire. The tech cleaned it off and it fixed the problem for that moment, but it didn't solve the problem. I called them back, and the tech came back out. He replaced it and turned the gas down too low. I called him back out a few more times because the pilot light kept going out. This last time that I called, the person that came out said, "Well, the gas is down too low. That's probably why it wouldn't stay lit." So he turned the gas line back up, and he also cleaned out our dryer trap because he said that might have something to do with it as well. It's been working properly ever since.

    I sent in my claim online and American Home Shield's website is fine. The only problem is you can't give enough detail as to what the problem really is. All you can do is give it a general. But if the contractor comes out and it hasn't been explained in enough detail, they may not have everything they need to complete the fix. For the most part, the contractors have been professional. They've come out and made the attempt to do the job. When I ask questions, they usually will explain to me what it is that they're doing and they have no problem with explaining to me.

    My experience with American Home Shield has its ups and downs. Sometimes they're great and other times they're slow. For instance, with the home that my daughter is in, there was an issue with an in-floor heater and it took me from November to almost the middle of January to get that resolved. There evidently was a mixup between American Home Shield and the contractor. American Home Shield didn't explain to the contractor completely what was needed. So when the contractor came out, they weren't prepared for the type of heater that it was. They were not experienced in that particular kind of heater. So I had to wait for American Home Shield to send somebody else out.

    When the other contractor came out, they told me that they no longer repaired those kinds of heaters because they couldn't get the parts and that they would have to order them. There was a lag in-between the ordering and the final delivery because they placed the order and it took them about two weeks to finally get it in. After that, it took another week and a half before they actually brought it out to put it in.

    Recently, I had the furnace replaced in the house. The contractor wanted $1,400 for things not covered. The tech said, “Oh, well, we had to modify the ductwork. We had to modify the gas line.” They were simple things that took less than a man hour to do. So I called American Home Shield and I said, “Hey, this guy is trying to take me to the cleaners. If I just take the money for a cash settlement, what would that be?” They said, “$900.” But you can't even buy the unit for $900, much less get the old one out of the attic and the new one up in the attic and hooked up. So we got a second opinion and they said, “Oh, yeah. Well, that wouldn't be $1,400.” But American Home Shield’s policy is you can't hire the second guy. They said he had the same diagnosis. The furnace needed replacing. So since it was the same diagnosis, you go back to the first guy. It's a racket. So they've got you anyway you go.

    I wound up paying the $1,400, and then $900 on top of that supposedly the contractor got because that's what American Home Shield told me they would pay. It even took three days to get that $900 number out of them. I called the first time and they said, “Oh, it's $900.” Then when I called back and made some more inquiries, they said, “Oh, well, that number wasn’t right, and you gotta wait for the cash out department to send you an email.” So two days later, that email finally comes in, and it’s $900. They said, “That's based on what we think it would cost to have it done.”

    My washer broke down and American Home Shield sent me a company that was no good. This repair company came to my house four times and each time, my washer did not work. I'm almost 85 years old, and I had to drag clothes to the laundry for almost five weeks. When I got fed up, I called and asked for a supervisor. Whoever I talked to kept coming on the phone like I didn't recognize the same voice and I said, "I spoke to you a few minutes ago and I asked you to give me a supervisor." But they were playing games with me and I didn't like that. It was really, really unfair that I pay them each month and couldn't get service when I needed it.

    I had threatened to take American Home Shield to court and I told the last person that I talked to, "It seems like I'm gonna have to go higher than you people because you keep playing around with me." This guy told me, "We're gonna get to the bottom of this." He acted like it was something new to him. But each time, they sent these people to my house, all they could do was come out my laundry room and say it was not working. I told American Home Shield, "If you're gonna send somebody else to my house for the fifth time, please don't let it be these previous people who you have been sending." The rep guaranteed me that he would send somebody else and that my washer would be fixed or replaced.

    This time, another company came and it took that man only 30 minutes to find my problem, went and got a part, put it on my machine, and haven't had any more problems. But it was so very unfair to me at my age to carry me through all of this. Nobody at any age, if they're paying their premium, should go through anything when they need service. Somebody neglected me in that transaction.

    I've had a 30-gallon heater ever since I've lived in the house. When it went out, I wasn't there when the contractor replaced the heater. But when I got there, they had this huge heater in my laundry room right next to the washer that's so big, you can hardly get in there to take clothes. They left the paperwork and it's a 40-gallon hot water heater. It ran my water bill up because I have to run the water for so long before it gets hot. The bigger the tank, the longer it takes to get the hot water warm. So it didn't sit too well with me. I've been with American Home Shield for a while and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. But I have been displeased the last two times I had to use them.

    American Home Shield's representatives that you talked to first are not in the United States. The last one that I talked to was from Ghana. I could hardly understand him. I asked him where he was from because I couldn't understand him. I said, "Well, I'll work with you, but try to speak more clearly." He did and then we got it done. He did his best and it was okay in the end.

    Nice Guy came out for the microwave and did a good job. He diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, the part came, and he brought the part and he installed it. My issue was the button that controls the fan did not work. This control panel comes in a strip with a lot of buttons on it. So, the only one that wasn't working was the fan. When he got done replacing the strip, the fan worked, but the other buttons didn't work. So, he said, "Well, there's no sense in replacing the control pad again. Let's get you a new microwave." But it took weeks. I'm still working with American Home Shield and they are replacing my microwave, but it has not been done yet. But American Home Shield is getting it done. It just takes time. You get put on hold a lot because the person that you ended up talking to is not allowed to make any decisions. So then, they have to ask questions or they put you on hold.

    The dishwasher was not working correctly with the top sensors when you press start. All Brand Appliance, the contractor, ended up ordering parts to replace that. Then, the fridge was leaking in the back and causing ice to form on the bottom of the fridge. They couldn't get parts for that because it was a discontinued fridge so, we got a new one.     The tech came out for two claims and he was in and out in 15 minutes or less. Before he left, he told me that as far as the bathroom faucet goes, he couldn't get the knob off the cold side. So he didn't replace the stem on that side. But he said, “Just don't turn it off too hard." Then on the faucet downstairs that he fixed, it was running continually. Not only did he not fix it, it no longer was a drip, but it was a continual run. So I ended up having to turn that off completely. When he came back, he fixed the lower one, but I wanted to check before he left this time. He actually put the stem on backwards to where it turned off in the opposite way than normal faucets. So I asked him to fix that before he left, and then he did. It was repaired and the follow-up was good. Everything was good.

    I went with three companies and American Home Shield seem to fit my budget good. My toilet was flushing on its own. The tank was filling, and I would hear it fill up. It was not leaking onto the floor. My brother put a new gadget in it so that it stopped that. And in my basement, I had a water drip. The plumbing was inside the house, but it was connected to my outside faucet for my hose. And the inside had a gadget that you could shut the water off to that spigot, and you would turn this little knob and it would drain what water was left in that 4 or 5 inches of pipe so that part would not freeze and bust in the wintertime. When the tech was looking at that, he said that my little turn thing needed replaced because it had a rubber O-ring that didn't fit properly. So, he replaced that and the toilet. We've had below 32 degrees and my basement isn't wet. So, we're good. I've recommended American Home Shield to my neighbors. It has been wonderful.

    The lady on the phone told me someone would be calling me within 24 - 48, and they did. Brick Street Plumbing was good about contacting me and calling me back. They came out for three things - my hot water tank, my garbage disposal, and there was a piece in the bathroom that was leaking. The guy that came initially did what he had to do. He told me that for the hot water tank, somebody else was going to have to come to do it 'cause he was gonna have to submit a claim to American Home Shield for that. That young man was very nice. He checked the garbage disposal that was not draining properly. I called them back out for it but it was not the guy's fault. I let them know that the garbage disposal was leaking, but I never mentioned that once I cut it on, the water was shifting. He ended up replacing it.

    We had a furnace issue. At first, the tech and I missed each other, and played phone tag for a little bit. I called and he had left a message. But then, he never showed up during that time. I called him back. He said, "I'm sorry, I missed the message. But I'm gonna get out there." He made every effort to get out here to make sure that it was taken care of.

    We also had a claim for the refrigerator and AHS sent somebody out. It took almost two weeks to get fixed. But they ended up fixing it. But that was the only negative experience I had with AHS. However, when I interacted with their reps, it was frustrating, because I know I was overseas talking to somebody else. I know they were using a script. They also wouldn't put me on with a supervisor. If they would have their phone pool moved to the US, that will be great. Maybe they can communicate better with their customers.

    Turner Electric came to fix an electrical socket underneath the sink. They fixed the issue and then they uncovered a different issue that I didn't originally tell them about so I had to hire a separate company. I had another claim that American Home Shield assigned to South Placer Heating & Air. But there were two no-show appointments. South Placer has not lived up to their end of the bargain. I'm all about communication, so if they call me the day of and say, “Hey, our technician’s sick,” I'm fine with that. I'm understanding but if they don't say anything, then it's a little frustrating. I talked to Home Shield about getting a new contractor other than South Placer Heating & Air, and they seemed pretty understanding about that. They have a little bit of a paperwork process with that, but they're working on getting a new service provider for me. So they're doing their part. They’re doing good.

    I'm very displeased with American Home Shield's service. In 2020, I called them about a situation I had in my bathroom. I don't discriminate but if you're going to have some people that are answering your phones, at least let them speak perfectly good English because I don't understand anything they're saying. When I placed my work order, the man came out here to fix it. He said, “That's not what we got down here.” I said, ‘Well, that's what I told her.” “No, she said you had a busted pipe.” So, I showed him what the problem was. He still refused to fix it because that wasn't on his work order. I was pissed off about that and when I called AHS and told them about it, they didn't try to make it work. They only told me, “Okay, we're not going to charge you the $75 fee for calling and sending them out there.” To this day, I still hadn't gotten it fixed yet.

    I requested to talk to a supervisor. They said, “We’re gonna give you a call back in two days.” That was in 2020. The service is trash. The way they handle business is trash. I was so frustrated. I don't know why I renewed my contract with them but I felt in my heart, “Go on and give them another chance.” I have another problem with the bathroom and this time was okay but the same guy came out. He said, “I’ve been out here before some years ago.” Then I said, “Yeah! You're the one who didn’t fix my problem! Yeah! So yeah, you remember this house. Yeah.” That really rubbed me the wrong way.

    There was a leak that was causing the sensor of our dishwasher to fill with water to make it go to the auto drain. The first time the tech came out, he said that there was too much soap inside it. He poured olive oil to kill the soap. Two months later, they came back out, still getting water in the sensor. So now, they replaced some type of gasket. I'm waiting for it to come in for them to come back and fix it.

    The techs have been super helpful. Really personable and definitely know what they're doing. They work on a whole bunch of different types of brands and models, so they rely on their phone to give them the error codes, and then they're able to get to it. The only frustrating part is that I'm having to mess with the dishwasher again. I got six people in this house, so we go through a lot of dishes.

    We had a major plumbing problem. AHS did their part, but I feel like there could have been more. I was out 40 grand on that one. The toilet was all backed up and caused water damage. But because there was a hole underneath our house that was never filled properly, it was considered a maintenance issue. I had to pay for it out of pocket. No one would cover it.

    But the process with AHS was easy and they have a very wide network of contractors to get service done timely. Their plumber is literally five minutes from my house. Then during the fact that we live in a rural community, the appliance technicians have to come from Memphis, which is about a 50-minute drive, but they're always willing to come out and do the service, which is really nice ‘cause you don't get that luxury out in the country.

    We had a garbage disposal issue. The Water Control Plumbing tech was great but I don't think the issue was resolved. The issue that we were having was around the smell and part of it needs to be cleaned. I'm not sure if that is part of the services that they provide so we just had to find an alternative solution. This has been a better experience. Prior to that, we were having issues trying to get someone out to come and take a look at our heating. The tech didn't show up and it was a whole ordeal. It took me a long time for us to get our $100 service fee back.

    With American Home Shield, a lot of it is just because so much of the work gets outsourced to vendors and contractors. Sometimes, they don't provide the best service. And then, when I reach out to American Home Shield, I get bounced around from customer service reps to customer service reps, which is frustrating at times. Also, it seems like it's difficult to be able to speak to a manager. Whenever I ask to escalate a situation, the manager is not available or I would never get a call back.

    My furnace would sometimes not come on and then sometimes, it would kick on. So, the tech from Dawson checked the filter. It was dirty and he also took a little piece and cleaned it off. He said that a lot of times that helps it out too. Plus, since my furnace is in the room outside, the door needed to have been swept. It was blocking the ventilation and it needed that air circulation to keep it kicking on. But sometimes it'd be pulling too hard and then, it’d stop. And not only that, I had a little something up against the door because I live by myself. And maybe that was blocking off that circulation too, for that ventilation to come through.

    The tech said that the filter needs to be changed more often because I have little dogs. I was doing it every three months. He told me to check it. It’s the third. I'll check it again and I may have to change it. If not, give it two months and change it. American Home Shield had a special with the furnace. Instead of them charging me the full amount of $125, they should have done the $75 special because that was going on. But they took the 125. Still, AHS is a good service. And it was prompt. They got the techs in within two days.

    My washer machine stopped working. It wasn't fully draining. Then my dryer was taking forever to dry clothes. Also, the microwave stopped working. I submitted the claim and I got a couple of texts from American Home Shield. They told me the name of the company and told me when they would be out. The guy that came out was awesome. But he couldn't fix the issue. The microwave and the washer had to be replaced. He did tell me his troubleshooting and explained to me why they were irreparable. For the dryer, he said because of the problem with the washer, it was taking so long for the clothes to dry. So he explained everything to me.     The sink had a leak and the techs came fairly quickly when I made a claim with AHS. But there was a minor inconvenience with the first technician because I wasn't aware that I had to pay $415 upfront. He had already done the work and he said that that part of the job was not being covered by the insurance. But this was never officially told to me by anyone else other than this technician.     Firehawk, the contractor, was super quick. They're the fastest ones I've ever had to call the same day and come out the very next day. Our washer was making some sounds but the guy said he couldn’t fix anything if it was just a sound. But if there was something mechanically wrong with it, then we could go from there. It was a little part that was fixed. The guy was good, knew what he was looking for and knew the part we needed. American Home Shield has done well for all the things that I've needed service overall. We had a little issue on a different topic altogether, but that got resolved.

    AHS saved me a couple grand on my AC unit this summertime. The only downside of the policy was the Freon aspect of how they refill an AC. They are only offering $10 a pound, whereas the going rate is $130 a pound. So, I’m still out a bunch of money but that was not labor and services. They should re-evaluate the contract because rates have gone up in general around the world in the last couple years. I don't know if Freon was $50 a pound or $10 a pound or $20 a pound, but that number seems very off-skewed. But otherwise, they have done a great job and I have no issues.

    American Home Shield's website is good. I don't have to call and wait for hours to get somebody to answer. They also send out a standard email with the name and the phone number of the contractor. The last contractor they sent, The Appliance Man, was great. I put some clothes in my dryer one day and it wouldn't spin. It's an old dryer, and they replaced the motor for the spinner part. My experience with American Home Shield has been good, mostly. If there's a big repair, I don’t have to pay for it. The only issue is it takes a long time for people to get out a lot of the times. If you're impatient, you don't need the home warranty. If you're patient though, then you’d be okay.

    I would recommend American Home Shield because the customer service is very nice. But the plumbers that they sent out were no good. They came out. They set up a snake and it was stuck. The guy cut it out and left everything flowing in the basement. They never came back. AHS never called me. I called them. But I couldn't finish talking to the person. I told them I would call back Saturday morning because the person they sent out was no good. AHS needs to get better people to represent them.

    I'm satisfied with AHS. I have called and they have either gotten back to me or sent me a message, or an email. They contacted the provider and gave me their number and then the name and the information. I was able to call and see when they were coming out. My air conditioner was acting very weird recently. I called AHS and they sent somebody. The techs came in, they cleaned it, and it was fine. I did have a second need for help, and it was our dryer. AHS put me in touch with a Whirlpool serviceman in the area. The gentleman came out and he was here for a while. There was a pencil that had gotten in somewhere within the workings of the dryer. He took it out and it's been fine ever since.

    It's a great benefit to have AHS but I'm having a little problem right now. I'm having issues on the coil for the air conditioner. They found the parts but they're saying that it was not up to code and I would have to pay $1,700. They came back and gave me an offer if I get another contract to say something different, they would give me the 812. They're still sitting on that because I haven't been able to find anybody. For one thing, it's the holiday. Secondly, we've been having a lot of cooling rain in New Orleans. Also, I already paid them 100 for the parts and every time they come out, I got to pay the first 100. I don't think they're being right with this air conditioner. It's not my fault if it wasn't put up there by the code. Why would I have to pay that whole $1,750? I'm really dissatisfied right now.

    AHS was doing great with me until this came up. The dryer went out and I paid the 100 and they brought me another dryer. Also, the microwave went out, I paid the first 100, and they fixed the microwave because it's a built-in. Another thing is I was trying to do the $100 payment on another credit card because it said the other one didn't go through. They took the 100 and the 96. I don't know what they're trying to make me pay for because the people who I bought the home for, they bought it for a year for $512. I told them I was gonna do the small appliances but when these bills started coming at me, I said I don't want to do the small appliances and to cancel it. They were sending me bills for $97 a month and saying that my policy should have been for $1,000, which was not true.

    I’ve had a fine experience with American Home Shield. I just submit the claim online and then I hear from somebody. It's not a difficult process. The washer sounded like you're in an airport, like a plane was about to take off. It was bad. The tech said that it was beyond repair and that they were going to send us a check, which was what happened. We also had a claim for the dryer. It smelled like something was on fire and the clothes smell burnt. It is still not resolved. The tech said they were going to order a part but I haven't heard back yet. Both contractors were very nice. My mom insisted that we get American Home Shield and it ended up being a good thing because we've used it. It's worth it and I told my in-laws to do it. I like knowing that we have it in case something bad comes up. With the roof, we know that we're covered and we're not going to have to spend a lot of money to fix the problem.

    I had great experiences with certain people that I talked with but I had to call American Home Shield somewhere near seven times to get my redelivery scheduled after the guys who came to deliver and install the first washer said they couldn't get it through. Which technically, they probably could have because they measured the doorframe to be narrower than the area that they asked me to remove the window sill from.

    The rescheduling part was a big issue because there seems to be a lot of confusion with what I was trying to have happen. I would never hear from someone back about scheduling it or AHS scheduled a service provider instead of an installer. I had to contact the previous people to get the phone number of the guy, who had my washer that was already in the area in his warehouse, for them to finally schedule the appointment with the right people. But I like how fast AHS moves and their convenience. I don't know where the miscommunication happened but I'm fairly certain that somewhere in there, there was a note that said they just needed to contact the same people to reinstall, or maybe there wasn't.

They'd been in my home prior for a prior request regarding my refrigerator. So, I was familiar with the contractor that arrived to look into the microwave situation.     If you keep the refrigerator door open for more than 30 seconds, the alarm will keep going and the light inside my fridge will stay on no matter if you open it or close it. The tech from The Fridge Guy came out and he was fast and professional. All he had to do was reconnect the circuit. So I was mad about that because that's something I could’ve done. But I don’t have the experience. He explained it to me and was very courteous about it. So, everything was good. I am getting parts for my washing machine right now but should that not work, I am told that American Home Shield will need a second opinion to see if the first handyman was right. It is on the policy and it says that if the maintenance guy is not able to find the problem, then it would be up to AHS to give me credit for such an event.

    The microwave quit working so I called American Home Shield. The tech from Sears IN checked out all the parts and she found exactly what the issue was. It had blown a fuse inside the microwave. She was very knowledgeable. She said this can be repaired with parts and the parts came within a week but it took her two weeks to get here so I was out of a microwave for two weeks. Other than that, when the contractors get here, usually it's very excellent. BJ Cooling came out for the furnace and that guy was awesome.

    The repairman fixed the problem with the furnace quickly which shocked me. It's very rare because most of the time when I call American Home Shield, they don't fix anything. I have to call for another property and I'm thinking I gotta pay these people $75 then they're gonna go upstairs and tell me they can't fix it.

    I’ve had American Home Shield for a long time, and in the very beginning, I was very satisfied. But over the years, they're going further and further down. I would call, and the call would go all the way to another country. I didn't know what the rep was saying and she didn't know what I was saying. I had get off the phone and call the center in Memphis, Tennessee. I told the lady I have too many problems to keep up with them. They said I wouldn't have to go through it anymore, but every time, I've had to go through it again. It's bad. One of the guys they sent was downright rude. He said he couldn't fix the problem and was in and out in 2 minutes. I paid American Home Shield $75 but I’ve had to look at the Yellow Pages and find a plumber to fix the problem for more than one time. If the service doesn't get any better, I'm gonna have to drop American Home Shield.

    We submitted three claims all by telephone and I had to go through the whole series, "What's wrong?" this and that. And instead of being able to get right to a rep, there's no place to say representative and transfer me. But American Home Shield got the person here to fix my problems very fast. It's done, but here was my problem. The gentleman came, looked at the washing machine, took pictures, and put in what parts had to be replaced to fix it. I heard nothing for five days. I got an email that says I can order a new one. But if they're gonna order the parts, I'm not going to order a new one. I called and the hardest part was getting ahold of a representative. When I finally did, I explained to her I haven't heard anything. She said, "One of the replacement parts is not available anymore. So, you have to get a new one."

    I was in limbo for the longest time because nobody called to say, "You have to take a new one." The email said I had 21 days if I wanted a new one. Otherwise, the offer would have been retracted. And that's what came up in the email. If they are ordering parts, why would I order a new one? It wouldn't be fair to AHS. And I had no idea that parts were not available or one part was not available. So, I had to order a new one. Or there were two other options. I could've got a $500 Lowe's gift card or a check sent to me for $500. I picked the replacement. They gave me an option of a dozen machines I could order. Some were for nothing, some I had to pay $200 or $300 more. The $500 fee was the replacement price. But I took the free one and they had it in two days. They got it here. So, it was fine. I'm very happy with AHS.

    P2 Tech Services came out for the washing machine and the stove. It was scheduled at the end of a week and they were here at the beginning of the next. The technician was knowledgeable and personable. He had to get parts for the stove. On the washing machine, it did not get fixed. He told me that day that the chances of it getting fixed was very low. It's a top load washing machine with no agitator, and he said it was a very typical break of it but it's not typically covered. When he came back and fixed the stove, I tried looking online but I don't understand the website. I never could tell if AHS had approved or denied getting the washing machine fixed.

    When my appliances break down, they are there to assist and they usually respond in a timely manner. They generally get a contractor out here immediately and the contractors that they send are always friendly. Also, the pricing is very reasonable.     What I like about American Home Shield is they get to you relatively quickly and no matter what the service is, it could be $100. One time, we had an issue with our washer-dryer and they couldn't fix it, but they sent multiple people out here to try to fix it till they ended up giving us a brand-new one. When my refrigerator acted up and I submitted the claim, it took a week or so for them to be able to get to me, though. I ended up calling them again. But when CK Appliance Repair came, they were very professional. They found out that there was something blocking the fan of the refrigerator and that the door was sticking because it kept freezing and unfreezing. The first guy took the ball from the back of the refrigerator and he said that they would need to make an order for the drawer lining. They scheduled another guy to come in and he replaced the drawer liners. Both of the techs were very good.

    The first floor, second floor, and upstairs furnace went out. The work ethic of the guy that came out was excellent. He did the job and got my heat working. But within five minutes of him leaving, the heat went out again. He got it working when the temperature got to where the thermostat asked for it to get. Then, when it got cooler again and it was calling for the heat to come back on, the heat would not come back on. The guy would not have known that unless he had stayed a little longer.

    So, I had to reschedule and I didn't know the process of trying to get the company back out here. I tried to call the company and I finally got them. I left messages but they never called me back. Then, when I was almost exasperated, I called American Home Shield and they were able to reach them immediately, and then we got the ball rolling again. The guy came out here and he did an excellent job. But it would have been good to have had at least a 30-minute heads-up. We got a heads-up text and the guy got here almost immediately, within 5 minutes. But everything worked out. I've been very satisfied with AHS.

    I had a backup issue in my home, and American Home Shield's contractor would not respond on the weekend, so I had to pay out of pocket for it. Then because that contractor wanted to run a camera down my sewer line, I had to continue to use them and pay out of pocket. When it came to refunding, it took me nagging American Home Shield to get the refund issued. At first, I was extremely frustrated, but they've completed the refund that needed to be done.

    American Home Shield knowing what they're talking about is very important. But half the time, I didn't feel that they did because I would be told one thing and then the next time I called it would be something different and so on. Then finally, I asked to speak to a supervisor because I was being told numerous different things and I was able to keep in contact through email. Once I got the supervisor involved, he was quick to get answers and I could communicate with him through email. So when I had an issue, I would just send him an email and it would be resolved. He put in a work order for me for a washer line, and I didn't have to pay my deductible on that. We did find out that there was an issue and my floor got dug up and fixed where the drain line is.

    A contractor called me to schedule an appointment, but they had scheduled it three weeks out. I called American Home Shield, and they ended up dispatching another company. This other company came and repaired the refrigerator. It lasted about two days before it broke again. I had to call them back. They came back out and ordered more parts. It took a couple more weeks. They came out, repaired it, and that one lasted about two or three days again.

    American Home Shield said they wanted to send another company out and try to have them repair it. I said, "No. You have already replaced everything inside this refrigerator. At this point, I've been out of a refrigerator for two and a half months. I want a replacement. I want something done." They said they were gonna have to get authorizations for that.     I like the ease of use of American Home Shield. I like being able to do things online. I like not having to call somebody and wait to be contacted. They've had some great contractors. They're very responsive and they do a good job of following up as well. Communication is pretty good. I called them today because the furnace went out and killed our air conditioning and our heating. They're very good about talking to me and making sure everything was good. They didn't get it repaired properly, so they had to come back out, but they're very good about facilitating. So far, having AHS has been worth the money. We'll be reapplying for a new policy when this one expires. We're happy with what they're doing. Sometimes their contractors have problems, but they're really good about trying to solve anything that happens. So, I really appreciate that part of it.

But we hate the fact that every year, everything goes up for no reason because our wages aren't going up to compensate for that. So, that ends up meaning that we are taking a pay cut. And it's not unique to AHS. That doesn't make us happy. But it's almost as if we have no choice. So, we do what we have to do. AHS has done a good job of putting together a product that we can see the value every single time. So, it's important that we have that and we plan to keep it.

    The burners on my stove wouldn't come on. The techs were courteous and they had masks on. They did what they were supposed to do and explained some things to me. They had to order a part and they said they would call when it came in. They called and then they set the date on the comeback. AHS' customer service is very good.     American Home Shield hasn't been bad. It's just sometimes they're more so concerned about fixing rather than replacing, or what you pay for your insurance, you end up paying again for services being rendered. So, it seems like you're paying twice. I just had to pay an additional $100 for a subcontractor to come and do work on my furnace. I thought it was covered in the insurance plan when you're paying on a monthly basis. I always thought that them having someone come out to do the work would be covered under the insurance plan rather than having to pay an additional fee.

    Billy’s A/C Service took a while to get out here for the heater repair but I’m not blaming them. Had it been on a normal thing where everything was being delivered like it was, it would have been the proper timing. But it wasn’t a biggie. The tech kept in contact with me to let me know. He was friendly and a good spirited type of person. He did his business.

    American Home Shield is a great company to go to. I had started off another one and I could never get anybody to come out. AHS has proven that they are already on top. Right after Thanksgiving, the outlets in my kitchen stopped working so I called them and they said they were working on it. They were trying to find somebody in their network but they might have to expand their location so they might have to drive an hour. But we’re waiting right now. I'm using drop cord and surge protectors right now to keep my counter icemaker working and not use the microwave. But I will refer AHS to somebody.

    American Home Shield is for our owners to have a service that will fix the problem for the tenants, so that they will be happy. However, our experience with AHS has been horrendous. We had an instance with a problem with the AC. Our customer is still without AC completed for two months. They were without AC because AHS kept sending people, but they couldn't figure out what the problem was. They finally said that they needed to replace. But we had to pay a horrendous amount. And we always have issues with scheduling. It takes a long time with AHS' vendors because they don't answer the phone. We are very dissatisfied and not happy with AHS' service.

    Initially, the range was leaking carbon monoxide. We had to call the fire department, and they isolated it. They said, "It's the stove. It's gotta go.” I filed a claim for that. A tech came out and said, "I don't know if I can fix this. It might just need to be replaced. So I'm going to do some research and figure it out." American Home Shield said that they wanted him to fix it. He said, "All right. I'm going to order the parts and try to fix it." He must have talked to AHS again because he said, "Never mind. They said, they're just going to replace the range because it's too potentially dangerous." Immediately after that, I got an email from AHS saying, "Let's shop for your new range." There were several free options. And there were a couple that were nicer. I paid 170 bucks to get a stainless steel one that is nicer. It would fit my needs for all the cooking I do all the time. I ordered that and it was delivered the following week.

    When the guys came to remove the old range and install the new one, they couldn't, because whoever designed my kitchen was not a smart person. And none of the entrances to the kitchen are wide enough to get an appliance in and out. So, they said, "We don't have time for this. We have lots of other projects with just the delivery guys.” So, we found Appliance Mavericks. They unhooked the old range and had to lift it up over part of the counter to get it out. And they did the same with installing the new one. Appliance Mavericks and everyone American Home Shield sent that we worked with were awesome. It was a long process and it took a lot of energy on my part to make sure this happen. But I'm satisfied with the results. It works and I'm happy.

    I do everything online. I go on American Home Shield's website and schedule things. We had a sink stoppage in our kitchen, and the repair people came out, ran a snake down the drain and fixed it up in about 30 minutes. American Home Shield has also come out and worked on a couple of other different things. The only issue I've ever had with them is sometimes the exact same thing breaks again two months later ‘cause they didn't fix it right the first time, but it's outside of the 30-day window. They have a policy that it has to happen within 30 days for it to be a recurring problem. Still, having a home warranty helps with the big ticket items. If the air conditioner or the water heater went out, I don't have to come up with cash out of pocket to figure out how to pay for them.

    Every time I have a problem at home, there’s always a question about whether it's covered. American Home Shield has different little, “Oh, that doesn't apply.” Also, they could increase their quality of service people. If anybody went online and pick out 10 contractors, all of them have bad reviews. Although I do realize they're social media. But if they are gonna use contractors, AHS needs to be able to assure us that they're quality ones. I understand small businesses because I'm a small business owner myself, but they don't answer their phones. It took me forever. I always have to call back AHS. “They're not answering their phone. Could you please call them and ask them to call me?” The people that I initially talk to are always good. The people that answer the phones try their best to solve the problems. But their hands are tied. They always try to do a good job. Unfortunately, I've had several things that go bad.

    When I first called AHS for my furnace, the people that they sent to my house came and looked at the furnace. It wasn't working, so they just left. They left the furnace apart. They didn't put it back because they knew it didn't work. So, I got a second opinion. The second opinion came and started the furnace. They saw the furnace was not intact, so they told AHS that the furnace has been tampered with. AHS said, “We don't cover that because your furnace has been tampered with.” I felt more comfortable with the second-opinion person doing it, but I was forced to have the first opinion do it because it was a confirmation. But they sent the first person to my house. It has been tampered with because their first person that they sent looked at my furnace and left it. It took me a week to resolve that. We were without a furnace during that period of time for them to get their communications together. I was able to get the furnace in, but it took a lot of months. I’m in Ohio and it was cold so I stayed with friends during that period of time.

    We had a backup and overflow. It was bad. The plumbers came very quickly and did a great job. First, they told me “We'll be out later.” I explained to them what the problem was. They told me they thought it was just a leak. I told them it wasn't that. They sent somebody within an hour. They took care of the business and gave me advice on how to not let it happen again. Everything's automated these days. That was the reason for the misunderstanding about what the problem was. You had to pick from a menu. That was the closest thing on the menu that I could tell them the problem was. If I could’ve spoken to somebody or left a recorded message, that would have been better.

    American Home Shield has done a good job. The contractor that they use that does the heating and air conditioning does a wonderful job. They’re punctual, and they complete the job. They have good communication. But the other one that they use for ovens and refrigerators is one of the worst companies I've had at my home. They came out and didn't fix it. They had to order parts, and they turned it in as completed. So, I called AHS and they said, “No, it's complete.” I said, “No, it's not completed.” So, they had some back and forth with their contractor. And they said they need to charge me another $109 because they have to open a new ticket. I said, “I'm not paying another 109. They shouldn't have closed that ticket because it wasn't done.”

    They figured that out, and they ended up not charging me. And they opened a new ticket. Since then, it's still not fixed. They came here. The knobs on my cooktop were coming off. And they needed to take my knobs. I said we can't live without a cooktop for four or six weeks. So, AHS got involved and some higher end person from there, called me and said that they would arrange giving us a temporary cooktop until they could get the knobs rebuilt. The company that does the work called me and told me they were coming up to take the knobs, and I said, “No, you guys need to give it to American Home Shield.”

    We thought we had it all straightened out. They came. They said they had the parts for the oven and the refrigerator, and I said, “Okay. Be sure and bring a lift for the double oven because one guy can't get it out.” “I’ll make a note of that.” The guy came out and all he did was come and take all but two of my knobs. Didn't touch the oven and icemaker, and left. I talked to them about that today. They said they've had some turnover that should improve things. They apologized. I said, “It’s Thanksgiving. I've got two knobs on my stove.” It's ridiculous. We've been dealing with this since the beginning of the year. But AHS is doing a good job. I like that. The heat and air conditioning people did a wonderful job. But my appliances have been being worked on since the beginning of the year and it's not complete.

    The water heater burst. Am Pm Plumbing assessed it and they had their sister company check the drywall damage and cut everything out. Then they came with the water heater, said the old one needed to be replaced and got it replaced. They were fantastic.     I had a plumbing issue. I called them last Thursday, and I had to follow up with American Home Shield this Sunday to see when somebody will call because we didn't have hot water. The turnaround time is long, which is 24 to 48 hours for them to call you back. So, it could be better. Other than that, I like AHS so far.     We had a garage door opener that needed help. The tech was professional and to the point. We've had AHS for a long time and though they're okay, there's nothing stellar about them. For long-time customers, their rates are high. We had a contract lapse and we had to start from ground service. Customer service is very low and AHS is trying to save every penny it can.     Overall, our service through American Home Shield is good. I recently did request the service to come out because I had a refrigerator failure. The claims process went well. I was not thrilled with the time gap though. They say, "I'll be there between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm." So, essentially, I had to wait at home the entire day. The experience when the technician got here was good. He was very knowledgeable. He was able to quickly identify the issue. Unfortunately, he did not carry the part to fix it. He said it would have to be ordered and he had to come back on a different date.

    Because of the time, I didn't want to be hassled with it again. So, I said, "No, I don't want it fixed," because it was the water for the water service, to be able to drink the water out of the refrigerator. Since it had already leaked and ruined my floor, I didn't want to put back another part in there to have it re-leak again in one to two years and re-cause the same damage that I already took four days to fix. However, after rethinking it, my wife and I decided we would like to have it fixed. So, I wanted to reach back out and I sent an email to American Home Shield to the last one that they sent to me, saying, "Hey, we recently had a service. I would like to actually have it completely fixed." I haven't been able to get anybody to call me back or return my emails to finish the service. They should make it easier to contact them.

    The garbage disposal stopped working. I called American Home Shield up, and they hired a plumbing contractor who came down and replaced it. Everything was good. I'm really happy with their service. The gentleman was polite and prompt, and he did a good job. AHS responded quickly and I'm happy with the outcome. Overall, they've been prompt, professional, and courteous.

    The last job that American Home Shield sent out a contractor for the refrigerator, the contractor sent two people out. I did a recording on my phone so they could hear the sound that the refrigerator was making. And at the time that the contractor came, it wasn't making a sound. The last person that came said he has a warranty for 30 days. 30 days on what? He didn't do anything. He pulled the refrigerator out and looked at the compressor and the fan. He said he didn't see anything and that there was nothing that he could do because he doesn't know where the sounds were coming from. But this goes on all day, all night. It would come off a bit, and come on. It’s very annoying. $75 for two people to come out to tell me that they couldn't find a problem. It was a joke. I'm not satisfied with AHS.

If they say they cover this, then they do. If you get another person to come and check, they charge you the same amount or more than what you pay American Home Shield.     I'm very happy with American Home Shield. They've always responded. We've only used it a couple of times, but we haven't had to wait long. The service person they're hooked up with responds really quickly. So far, so good. A guy came to fix our microwave, and it only lasted about a week. So, he's coming back tomorrow, and they did that at no charge.

    I put in a claim for my AC unit on Sunday and service people were out to repair it on Tuesday. It was a little late in the day, at around 7 o'clock, but I was fine with that. I was just glad they came out and fixed it in two days. It was a really quick turnaround. The issue turned out to be a fuse and they had the part on hand. The service people were very professional and they explained the whole situation. They worked in a timely manner and they got the repair done in about 30 to 45 minutes. They did a great job on their side.

    I couldn't get the heater shut off. It kept getting hotter and hotter so I filed a claim with American Home Shield. The first time a contractor came out, the guy was nice. He did something to the unit in the attic then said it was fixed. However, I couldn't get it to turn back on. I had to call American Home Shield back and have them send somebody else out. It took a week to fix it after that. American Home Shield did a great job. I was happy. I work in real estate and hear nightmare stories about home warranties. They're hard to communicate with. Nobody gets back to you or they take forever or you end up having to pay more than they said. But none of that took place with American Home Shield in my experience for this service. This is the only time I've ever had to reach out to them so far but they made it very easy. There were no extra fees. I'm thankful for that.

    I like that with AHS, I pay my monthly thing, and then I know that every time somebody comes out, no matter what is going on with my stuff, it's going to be one set price. I called them to submit a claim for the motor of my dryer and it was perfect. However, the Facetime thing was pointless. I went through that whole thing, and they came out but they were like, “We have to order the part.” It was strange to me. They said the purpose of that was so that when the technician would come out, he would bring what was needed. So I would not have to wait to get my appliance fixed. But that didn't happen. It was still 10 days before I got my dryer fixed. But everything else was great. I called on a Saturday and they were super responsive.
