American Home Shield is a wonderful investment. It is a comfort knowing that if I have an issue, somebody's going to come, look at things and give me an honest evaluation, whether it can or cannot be fixed. I don't believe they come in with the idea that, “We're not going to fix anything.” They come in with the idea that, “We will fix whatever we can fix. If it can't be fixed, then we'll replace it.”
I recently called to ask for a repairman to come out and double-check my propane water heater. It was a preventative measure because the propane smelled different. I always smell a bit of gas, but this was much more pungent, and it concerned me. I didn't want my house to blow up and I didn't want to be gassed to death. I wanted to make sure that we were okay. Once American Home Shield contracted the repairman, the warranty called me back. The company that was sending the repairman also contacted me telling me the name of who was going to be coming and when to expect him. Jeremiah, the repairman, was great. It was not a problem if I stood and looked over his shoulder. I also asked him questions, and he responded in a friendly and wonderful manner.

For our recent claim with AHS, the plumber that came out was awesome. It took him 10 minutes to get it fixed. Everything was good. There were a few confusions for me when I submitted a claim online. But otherwise, my experience with AHS was excellent.

I've been super impressed with American Home Shield. The contractor was fabulous and came when they said they would. They fixed the problem with our water heater quickly and didn't try to sell us anything.

I had someone come out here on the 23rd of November for my clothes dryer. It wouldn't work. First, the only thing it would do was work on high. Then it would clang, clang, clang, and then it wasn't getting warm. So the guy came out. It needed a belt. So he had to order it and then come back. On the 23rd, he fixed it.

I had a claim for a dryer and it went really well. I could not ask for a better service guy than the one from AMR-Appliance. He was very hands-on if there is a problem and he works through it. He tries to have parts on hand before he comes so he only has to make one service call. It ended up being the bearing that was messed up.
This time last year, my water heater was leaking and no one ever called me back on it. AHS said they couldn't find anybody within my service area so we ended up just replacing it on our own. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.

We had the garage and the refrigerator broken at the same time within a week of each other. The first experience of the guy that came out for the refrigerator was horrible. He had no business card. He didn't have any indicator on his little personal car. I have no idea who the strange man was coming to my house. My 84-year-old dad was visiting and he was so rude to us. I also couldn’t understand his English. He was condescending and he didn't fix the compressors. The guy just left.
The parts came in this week. But we went almost a month without a refrigerator. The problem was they sent somebody out that doesn't do anything around compressors for their fridge, so we had to wait two more weeks for a new company to come out. But the garage guy was wonderful and fabulous. He gave us his card and was very personable. For the AE Sears, I got a picture of what the tech looked like and the guy said, “Give it a day and the refrigerator should be working.” He was professional, too.

A week after that, I called and made a claim for my furnace. It's really cold, and one of them just keeps kicking on, going off. It’s not heating. That was November 14th and we still haven't had anybody to come out and look at it.
They gave us the option to find somebody. But whenever I would contact people, they'd say, they don't usually like to fool with AHS because they don't want to have to go through that ordeal of having to get things pre-approved. I called AHS back and I said, "I can't find anybody. I need y'all to do that.” I'm still waiting on somebody to come and service both units. I called them again Friday and they said, “Give us two more days.” But I still haven’t heard anything. I’ve got good things and bad things with AHS. I’ve had them for a long time. They really have paid off. I just was a little disappointed that I'm still waiting on somebody to come out. But the reps have been really nice and helpful. They would say, “Let me see if I can find somebody. We're gonna put you back in the queue.” They seemed to be knowledgeable about what they were doing.

American Shield Home warranty service is a total waste of money. We paid them $50 a month for a year and a half before ever needing a service, but the contractor never performed the repair. Our heat pump went out in December. We initiated the service request, but the contractor assigned to us didn't answer his phone. We talked to multiple American Shield Home representatives who failed to help us. First rep said she would expedite as emergency, but she never did. Second rep said we had to wait 24 hours to hear back from contractor. Third rep told us to wait 48 hours! Temperature to drop below freezing but we're expected to wait on American Shield Home's contractor for two days and hope he then wants the job. We canceled the service request and hired our own HVAC technician to fix the heat pump 30 hours after our request to American Shield Home.
Now, we want to cancel this useless warranty -- but, the company makes cancellation very difficult. The fourth rep said she would "make a note on my account for someone to call me." No, I want to cancel my account. I reported the company to BBB. Consumer Affairs as it states "is not a government agency AND MAY BE COMPENSATED BY COMPANIES" but, I'm going to give an honest review of American Home Shield to warn other consumers. Look at another company or better yet, use the money to start your personal home expense account. But, a home warranty company that fails to provide service to paying customers is useless.

American Home Shield is good. When our stove broke, their contractor fixed that. We're waiting on a new range hood. It's harder to fix that one because it stands by itself. It doesn't have cabinets. It's not attached to the wall, it's attached to the ceiling. Other than that, they're honest. They stay in close contact with us with everything. It's a very good service to have under your belt for a homeowner. Here in Hawaii, there's only so many contractors that American Home Shield uses the same ones over and over, which is fine. But the last one that came out gave us the runaround. I waited almost six months for that range hood to be fixed, and it's still not fixed only because that first technician they sent out wasn't very thorough. I ended up having to constantly call them every week. A new person would answer and tell me, "There are no notes." Six months forward, it's still not fixed.

I like that AHS is available, that it's a service that I can actually use. But the only thing I don't like is, I live in an area in which it's hard to find contractors to come out, and they have to travel from Sacramento to come out here, and not many do. So, I'm limited to one or two. But when they come out, they're fine. It's just sometimes I've had experiences where it took a long time. Also, my bill is 44.99 a month. I feel like that could come down a bit because I don't use it that much. And I already have to pay 100 just to have somebody come out.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield and the techs from Climate Masters came, and they worked on the heat. There was water in the heat downstairs. So, he vacuumed the water out. The thermostat was off before, so it came back on. The same thing is happening again within two weeks. I can't regulate the heat and it wouldn’t go on. So, they are coming back to do it again. American Home Shield is great. I will recommend them. They are pretty responsive. This claim that just happened is making me not really too happy about it, but I'm usually happy with AHS.

I have a toilet in our master bedroom that was seeping. I had taken the toilet off. I had put a new seal around it and it seeps again. Somebody came and they fixed that. Then we had another toilet that wasn't flushing properly, and they fixed that. They did a great job. I call American Home Shield's 1-800 number for my claims. They tell me who will be coming out and they also give me their phone number. They give me pretty much everything I need. I'm really been happy with who they’ve sent out. I talk about AHS all the time. I tell others that I have them and how happy I have been with them. I appraise them highly. They're a good quality company.

AHS has a prompt response if we have a problem. I had an annual fall checkup for the heating system. It worked fine. They checked the system. Said that we needed to get some motor for it. Ordered it, came in, came back, replaced it, and off they went.

AHS has done what they're being paid to do. I had an oven that went bad. There was something wrong electronically and they replaced a bunch of parts. The tech was very good and capable and the oven is now working again.

American Home Shield has been great. The tech was very informative about what was taking place. He fixed the problem and the only thing I had to pay was a deductible, which was fine. As long as it’s not over a certain amount, that was the best thing. It was just a replacement of things.

My washer wasn't working properly. The water wasn't turning off. I did the claim over the phone with a representative. The customer service and the contractor were very good.

It's been an 11-day battle trying to get a furnace put in. Every time you contact somebody, it's 24 or 48 hours before you get somebody that can try to answer a question for you. That's difficult to deal with. The first contractor American Home Shield sent out failed to find a cracked heat exchanger. So within 24 hours, the furnace went out again. They sent a second tech out. That was when he had made a comment that the heat exchanger had cracks in it and that this furnace was registering carbon dioxide leakage.
I didn't feel comfortable with who American Home Shield sent out. I didn't want him back in my house for the misdiagnosis. That could have been deadly with carbon monoxide leaking. I wanted a second opinion. One person said they don't have anybody else in the area. Finally I got ahold of a person that said they have some other people in the area that could come out. They got a second opinion, but they said that person was just doing a second opinion and it had to go back to the first contractor that came out. I told him I didn't want him in my house any longer and I’d like to have the other contractor do the work.
American Home Shield has been great to us. We've even done some of the buy-outs before. They've always been very fair. But for this claim, they're way out of line. We're gonna have to not have our granddaughter come into town this weekend or for Christmas because we didn't know if we're going to have a furnace in operation. If the homeowner wants a second opinion, American Home Shield should allow that to happen. They should have two contractors in the area they can trust to do the work. They have four that originally came out then they offered three others to do the other assessment. They should give us the option.
I know they're getting discounts through the manufacturer of the product along with the labor, but I hired them as my warranty company and I expected them to be at my back as well. We've been with them for 23 years, and it's disappointing that there was such a battle to get this taken care of. I'm just glad that we're getting the furnace now hopefully, but it hasn't happened yet so I've got to call into the contractor that they approved to do it. I’m waiting to hear back from him to see how soon we can get this done.

The first tech that American Home Shield had sent out came out and told me that it was $1,800 out of pocket to fix because mice had got in there and ate the wiring. So, I called them up and told them they need to send out somebody else, and then they told me it was gonna be $125 fee for the guy to come out. But they would reimburse me if the finding was different. The next guy came out and he was a legit business person with common sense and they fixed it all. The first guy told me it was going to take three or four days and it was going to be $1,800 to $2,200 to fix and all of that was out of pocket. But the second guy came in and fixed it in an hour and I have heat.

For my recent claim with AHS, the water heater was broken. It took a really long time to get it fixed. AHS assigned a company. The company looked at it. But they thought that we had the lesser plan but we have the best AHS plan. The tech said, "You're gonna have to pay 490 something dollars to replace this piece because your plan doesn't pay for this piece." I said, "Not a big deal. We'll figure it out." He also looked at our other issue, which was the faucet in the bathroom didn't work, because they were both on the same claim. He said, "I have no idea what this is. I'll send someone out within the next couple of days to fix this."
A few days later, nothing. I called AHS. I said, "We've been without hot water for like nine days now. We have kids. What are we doing to fix this?" They said, "We thought this company that we assigned to you reached out. They said you need a new water heater and your faucet is fixed." I said, "They never came to fix my faucet. I don't know what you're talking about." We also had to wait a very long time to get the new water heater. When I called AHS about it, they said, "They've been dispatched. I'm not sure what's going on. I'm gonna call you back." The next day the plumber guy called. He said, "I told you that I wasn't able to do it till December 10th." But the day the plumbers got here, it was done within four hours. Everything was completed. They also told us other things that were wrong that we needed to make claims about. Also, every communication with American Home Shield has been great.

I find the claim submission process of AHS to be super simple. I go online and do it. It's quick and painless. I love that I can do it at 3:00 in the morning and it's not a problem. For my recent claim, my dryer broke down. There was no heat coming out of it. They scheduled me the next day to come out and diagnose it. The heating component was out. They had to order a part and then the weekend came. It was Thanksgiving, things were gonna get delayed. But they were here the next Tuesday putting in the part and fixing it. Even with Thanksgiving, it took them seven days from beginning to end. It was awesome.

AHS really needs to watch what the out-of-pocket costs the contractors are charging people because there's some discrepancy there that's not making any sense. But that's not American Home Shield’s fault. For my recent claim, the motor of the heater went out. My interactions with the techs who came out were good.

We had just moved into the home and we turned the AC on and it was not cooling at all. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was way easier than what I thought. It was probably my first time having to deal with something like that. The rep told us that the technician would set up a date and time, and gave us the rundown on what was going on. Dealing with the rep was very quick. The technicians showed us what we were dealing with and were hands-on about it. They went down different options of things that they could possibly do as well as their recommendations. Everything is good now.

Having a home warranty is a good idea in case something in the house breaks, and generally, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield. My tenant calls and lets my property manager know if something's broken, then they file the claim on my behalf. Of the two experiences that I've had with American Home Shield, they weren't able to cover one, which was an electrical issue. I paid the electrician outright. The property manager dealt with most of it, but I was told it was missing a ground. All they did was let me know that they needed to get permission from me because it was gonna cost more than they were allowed without my permission.

When the motor on our dryer didn't want to heat up no more, the technician fixed it, and everything is good now. Having a home warranty, I like that all our stuff is insured.

Two toilets had problems. The contractor came within a few days, which is what I needed. They would have come sooner, but I couldn’t meet them sooner. It was easy. I have peace of mind.

Our clothes washer wouldn't spin right and it was tight. It turned out to be a transmission and some other major parts, and it was replaced. It was great dealing with the tech.

American Home Shield surely does what it advertises to do. I've been gladly surprised. There was something that went wrong with my air conditioning and I was out of the country when it happened. AHS took care of having somebody come and assess. My granddaughter told me the tech had a problem and he made the decision that he could tell what instrument had been used on the unit. That instrument was not used on it at all. I've had some work done on my 24-year-old house but nothing has been done recently. I wanted a reassessment and AHS set up a second person who came up with a different assessment. From that, we went into action to try to fix what was wrong.
It took a while to get it done because we had trouble trying to find a part that could possibly fix it without having to put in a new system. After we found out that we couldn't find the part because the unit was older than I guessed, we ended up getting a new unit. I had some out-of-pocket money to pay, but it wasn't anything near what I ended up getting. So I'm very pleased with American Home Shield and I'm so thankful that I joined.

I have had nothing but a great experience with AHS. They do a great job. The repairman who came out for my washer was great. He came the next day. However, the washer was non-repairable so I'm waiting on my new washer.

For my recent AHS claim, GE Appliances came out to fix my stovetop. The burner was out. That claim was very well handled. The techs were efficient and they fixed it on the same day they came out, and that was perfect. The time before when they had to come out to fix my microwave oven, that was a bit of a back-and-forth. The people who put it up did not put it up right. It was shaking on the wall. They had to come back and bring some other different people and bring a different microwave, which worked better, and the second lot of people were able to anchor it in a better way. It's not as efficient as the one that broke, but it's okay. I also asked them recently about my computer, which I'm paying for all the time, but nobody got back to me with anything. They asked me to send them a picture of the model number on the back of my computer and I did that. But I have not heard another word from anyone. I'm just tired of that.

The most recent claim I had was for the garage repair and it was really good. The contractor came and fixed it. They were in and out in 30 minutes. I also had a claim for a leaky sink and it was okay, although it took the company a while to get me scheduled. They never called, so I had to call them and then a couple of days after that to get scheduled. So that was a little disappointing.

I can call American Home Shield and get someone in a timely fashion. I like that. The last claim I had was for a leak. I saw water on the floor and I was afraid it was a pipe. The plumber said the toilet was leaking. He put a new thing inside the toilet. Everything was fine with the repair. The only thing with American Home Shield is there are some contractors that are better than others. When I had trouble with one, I asked for a different person. They sent somebody else out and the issue was fixed.

My freezer wasn't freezing correctly. The line was clogged. And at the bottom of my refrigerator, there was a piece that was broken off. The contractor replaced that. And they supposedly fixed the freezer. But the line, even when I do the water, is still very slow to come out. Other than that, the contractor was friendly.

When my icemaker stopped working, I went to their website to do a claim. The problem with the website is it only gives you a dropdown. For example, the icemaker was the thing that made us finally call for a repair. But the lights on the inside of the refrigerator and its freezer part had gone out too. I wanted to get them all done. But I only had the option of the dropdown saying the icemaker. If there's more than one problem, it really doesn't give you the option of listing other issues.
American Home Shield sent me a notice that someone would contact me and I actually got called right away. It was a very quick response. The service company was great. They set up a time and were here a few minutes early. They got things done efficiently. I have been happy with my home warranty and I suggest having it if you have an older home. The only issue I have is they tend to go up $5 or so every year and a half. Other than that, everything's been taken care of when we called.

DKH Plumbing came out for a leaking showerhead and the guy did a great job. He told me what he did in great detail. American Home Shield is good and I like it. It works fine.

We had a water heater that was leaking. We called AHS to submit a claim. When we finally were able to hear back from them, we left them a message. But they didn't respond. We finally heard that they had a contractor out that was going to fix it. But we didn't know that until we called them again. The contractor that came out to work on it was on the phone with them for two and a half hours and didn't get any answers. When we tried to call AHS again and update them, because our water heater was leaking all over our garage, we got no information. They said that they were going to send us an email with an invoice. But we never received an email with an invoice. We had to call the contracting company at least a half dozen times to get information because American Home Shield was non-responsive. When the contracting company finally got back to us, they came out and replaced it, and ended up being free of charge.
It was frustrating. I felt the contracting company was in the dark, too, because we were asking, “How much do we owe?” They said, “That goes to the warranty company. They should have sent you something.” We asked AHS multiple times for something so we would know if we needed to pay anything or what we needed to pay. We didn't really have a whole lot with that. We're just glad it got replaced. But if we have to use them again, we're not really sure how that's gonna go because we had a poor experience with them.

Every time, somebody has been able to come out and get our claims resolved. The latest one that Sears did was the regular oven. Before that, we had the microwave and Sears came out, but they couldn't work on it, and they had to get somebody else. On the stove, I would push the control panel but the oven wouldn't come on. The contractor ordered parts, came back and fixed it.
The microwave is working, but because it's through American Home Shield, they only use a certain brand. My old microwave had a panel and the door. The one we've got now, the whole door is supposed to come open and there's not enough room on the wall. So, I have to be careful. I can't open the door all the way. But in order to fix that, we would either have to put a hole in the wall or move all my cabinets. So, I'm just dealing with it. Other than that, all of the contractors that came out were all very kind. They did the best they could, like when they were trying to get the microwave in. They were all very good. We appreciated them.

There are many benefits to having a home warranty. Everything's fine. Up until now, we've never considered making any changes. However, we had a claim that was a nightmare. We're in the cold part of the year. A week or three ago, the heater came on as usual, except it blew cold air for a short while. It was just a blast. But everything was fine and the house would heat up. It would blow cold air at first but that's because it's up in the attic where the ductwork is cold. I tried to tell my wife that but she wanted it checked. My wife can't just call a regular heating and air person. She has to go through Home Shield. She called them and she just wanted a welfare check on the heater to make sure everything was okay. We had no problem paying the bill.
A guy comes out, looks at the heater, and makes an estimate. He said, "We're going to drop in this and drop in that because it has to be compliant with the new rules and you got to use the right kind of juicer." The parts were 100 bucks and he had to replace a part because it leaked. Putting the new juice was $1,100 and that was our part of the deal. A few years ago, you could normally buy it for 10 bucks a pound. Now, it's hundreds of dollars a pound. That's excessive.
Two weeks go by and they got the parts. The guy shows up and does whatever he does. He fixes it, this and that. When he leaves, the heater didn't go off. It kept on running. We're going to have an enormous electric bill because of him. I called them up. They're right here in the neighborhood but they're too busy to come back and correct the problem. The guy said to do this and do that. In the end, I had to go out to the breakers on the side of the house where the power comes into the house and shut the power off. They were gonna get a guy over here but he didn't get here until 7:00 at night. The unit shuts off and it shuts on like that. The techs fix it but now, it's blowing cold air.
I get the guy to finally say, "This thing's blowing cold air." It was cold last night. Also, when the guy was here, he presented an invoice and my wife paid it. She accidentally paid it $100 short. She gave him 1,100 when it should have been 1,200. That's a decent chunk of dough. The guys said we still owed $100. I said, "Are you kidding me?" He is not coming out because I owe him.
American Home got a fella out here today. Originally, he would be coming here late this afternoon. But he got here at 11:00 this morning. He was a really nice and clean-cut kid. He did excellently. He was polite and he got the job done. But he wasn't getting any more money until I know that this thing works. The unit is working now. I said to the kid that if the thing was working tomorrow, there would be a check for him in the mail tomorrow night or Saturday morning. If people are not pleased with anything that we do, I'm all over it. My customers are everything. But the first guy got 1,100 and he was a petty piece of junk.

When our microwave kept shorting out, I put the claim in as an electrical issue. I got an appointment the next day, but the electrician said that it wasn't an electrical issue, so he submitted it for the microwave issue. Another guy came out and said it was an electrical issue and the part wasn't even covered. We went through a week of back and forth to find out that they couldn't help us anyway. American Home Shield said it's on us now to get an electrician to come in. Another one of the issues I have with them is the a 10-minute hold. The wait time is really long.

When we moved in the house, the downstairs air conditioner stopped working. We submitted a claim to American Home Shield, and they sent out a company called Stockdale Services. After a couple of visits, Stockdale Services ended up replacing the coil in the air conditioner upstairs. Everything was working fine then it got cold here after a couple of months. In November, we were running the heat, and the heat downstairs stopped working. I submitted another service request to American Home Shield, and they sent out a different company this time, A-US.
What A-US found was that the work that Stockdale had done was so bad and incorrect that it had caused the problems that we were having, and it put the compressor under pressure to the point where it was kicking itself off. They had also put a coil in the air handler that was the wrong brand. It did not match the Rheem system that we have. They had also installed water piping in the attic, to where if it were to leak, it would leak into our ceiling. They had done a bunch of stuff wrong and A-US recommended to American Home Shield that the work be redone and done correctly and that the air handler be completely replaced.
American Home Shield has agreed to the repairs that A-US is recommending to fix the things that Stockdale did incorrectly, but they're wanting me to cover about $1,500 of those costs. I've disputed that saying I don't want to have to pay that because it was not on me that a contractor of theirs came out, did a bad job and incorrectly installed the equipment. But overall, American Home Shield has been great. They're considering my request and I'm waiting to hear back.

I recently had the stove fixed. One downside is sometimes, the first people that come out seem a little bit of a cut-rate service. Seems like AHS is trying to go with the cheapest. When I originally submitted the claim, S & S was the first one in the pipe, but they had two weeks out before they could even come to the house. I was without a stove and oven, so I called back and said I need somebody faster. AHS called somebody else. They came out and were outstanding. They got the parts that I called for right away. Within the next day, they came back and fixed it. They also identified another issue and put that claim on it as well, and got those parts. I almost have a brand new face on the range.

When I called and set up the claim, the reps were very responsive. The experience with American Home Shield has been very good but we have to have a second visit because the problem was not quite fixed. The tech did say it might happen again.

I've had nothing but good experiences with AHS. I just purchased another policy from them. Recently, my wall oven went out. Plus, the microwave on top had stopped working a while back. Called AHS and they sent Bay to Bay out. Bay to Bay tried to get the parts for it. Because it's such an older model, AHS just had to offer me a fair amount, which was less than half of what I paid to replace it. But I still was very happy with their service.

I love AHS. It's so convenient. I just make one phone call and then they do all the rest of the work for you. I also love the savings. Recently, the ice maker wasn't working. The techs got out here really quickly. They gave me a two-hour span and they were here before the two hours, which was great. They got it done. They were really efficient.

The unit was making a bit of a strange noise. The contractor came out and lubricated the fan on the unit and took a look at some other things and found it was in good working order other than the fan. Overall, American Home Shield has good value for the price of service. Their technicians are relatively good quality and they seemed to have improved in quality over time. We had a plumber come out to fix an issue with our faucet recently, as well as an issue with the garbage disposal, and the relative timeliness of service has been a big benefit, especially recently. We had some appliances that were replaced by American Home Shield, as well as some more serious plumbing issues. So overall, it has been a very good experience.

AHS provides great service. They're very timely. If they can't fix it, they replace it. The plumbers who came out for my recent claim were great, professional, quick and clean. They had to replace the disposal ‘cause it was leaking from the seals on the very bottom. They had one on their truck and they were able to replace it.

A lot of time things aren't covered that you think are covered. It doesn’t make it worth it to have it. Then the contractors that they work with aren't always the best either. I have an open request right now, and it's taking more than a full week and I haven't got scheduled the actual service yet. So it's pretty frustrating.

I called for two issues. One was about the heater coil on my dryer, and the other was the washer wasn't spinning correctly and was making a lot of grinding noise. I got a couple of text messages as well as talked to the lady on the phone with American Home Shield. They communicated things really well, and the repair person they sent was a very professional and friendly guy. He replaced the heater in the washer, then he described the problems that were with the washer and said he was going to talk to American Home Shield about the repair. They replaced it, and it's great. My experiences with American Home Shield have been good.

We received the reminder from Home Shield saying you have to get your filters changed and get the Freon put on there. Each of us thought that other person scheduled it, so it didn't get done. We live in Georgia and we had a little bit of a heat spill during this fall. All of a sudden, we wouldn't get any cold air. We checked the AC and it didn't freeze up. We could hear it, but no cold air was going out. So we called American Home Shield and the only problem was it happened after business hours. But we were able to get someone. It's just that the contractor they had here wasn't available for a day or two. They didn't work on the weekends. So they weren't able to send anybody until Monday morning.
When the contractor came, I got a text and a phone call and then they were on their way. They took proper COVID protocols and it was quite nice. We found out that the AC was out of Freon. So they filled us up and I didn't have to pay them. This was under the warranty. I did have to pay the service call fee. The AC got back on like nothing ever happened. They also did a full check and made sure and that was all it was. They showed me how they put the Freon in and different things. It was awesome.
American Home Shield was prompt. They scheduled the service as soon as they could get somebody out. It wasn't an emergency so I'm very light to stuff like that. But American Home Shield lets me know that if it was an emergency, someone's available 24 hours. So I really appreciate that. They even asked, "Is it an emergency?" So I really take that into consideration. Also, they were very understanding with the whole I had a lot of questions being a first-time homeowner.

A fuse burned out on my dryer and the tech replaced it. He had been out here before and I requested him because he's nice and very professional. American Home Shield has saved me a lot of money than if I would have had to pay for the repair right out of my pocket as opposed to paying a fee every month.

With my appliances, the contractor was great. The guy is wonderful. I had the washer and the guy said, "You have a good washer, but they don't make your part anymore." So, they gave me another washing machine and I like it. But my refrigerator wasn't putting out the ice. It would build up and it wouldn't dispense it. The tech thought he fixed it. And when I called them, I said, "It's been three days and I don't have any ice in my tray." He said, "Call American Home Shield and I'll come back and I'll come and look at it." So, I did and he came out and looked at it, and told us it must be a default in this. Sometimes, you get it. He noticed it's filled up with ice. He flipped over, pushed the reset. I said I've done that. And he watched it. I said, "But that's it. But you can't reset that button but once a day." So, he said there was a default in that. "We'll send it back and get you another one. Call AHS and let them know what happened."
It was easy to get in contact with AHS. But after I got in contact with them, the guy was very hard on me. He told me to go there and he tried to put me on a video. But my phone didn't do that. My phone's an Android and he did an iPhone. I did the thing, but it would not. And he said I didn't have that camera on my phone. Yet he still demanded me to do that. I told him I cannot do that and he was making me late for work. I told him I can just give him a serial number. But he said, "I want you to go in there and do what I tell you to do. I will send you a link and you open that link and you will follow the instructions." He also told me to download an app. I did not like him and I don't like him to call me anymore the second time I got him. I just hung the phone up, left and went to work.
I was at work and somebody named Ron called me and asked about the refrigerator. I said, "I'm sorry, I can't tell them. I'm at work." He said, "You keep the phone next to you. You keep the phone. And when I call you again, you answer the phone. You keep the phone right there." I said, "I don't want you either. I'm a nurse." And they said, "Who was that?" I was not pleased with whoever.

It was a good experience overall. But it would simplify things if they told you upfront that they weren't going to cover that rather than go ahead and send a technician out to then tell you that they're not going to do it. I lost the day of pay because the technician came and said, "Oh, this isn't covered." But it was very clear when I called it in what I was asking about. They apparently don't compare whatever is in your particular contract and what question you're asking till after the fact. That should not happen.

I have a whole new basement and the sump pump was working fine but it burnt out because it was pumping for over eight hours straight. The repair guys came out from Plumbing Enterprises, and the professionalism was good and the knowledge was even better. My whole basement was like a river and I'm still dealing with it but I'm not out any money right now, which is a blessing. When I first moved to Virginia, my cousin recommend that I get American Home Shield and I don't regret having it. I've recommended quite a few people in my family. The automated system is good but sometimes it doesn't prompt you to the right people. So, I don't care for it too much.

It's a rare occasion when I use AHS. But those times when something goes wrong in the house, I save a little money as opposed to paying a contractor outright for a repair. It's a valuable service every time I needed it. It usually works out for me. They came out because I had an AC problem. The compressor outside of my home was working fine. But the unit in the attic would not turn on. I was getting no air out of my vent. The techs changed a capacitor. It was a simple fix and it started to work.
For a week, my AC worked fine. Then, nothing would turn on. I went to my thermostat like normal and there was nothing. Last week, they came out and troubleshoot to try to figure out what was going on. They inspected it but they couldn't find any issues. Being that nothing was turning on, they determined it to be electrical. So I was no longer needing an AC repair person.
Upon leaving, they told me that they were going to put in a transfer request on the same service request. However, I saw an email saying that the air conditioning contractor, A-US, was scheduled to come this week. It rose a red flag. So I called back and got that corrected, to make sure that it was an electrician coming out because it would just be a waste of time because they had already been out. It was a little frustrating, 'cause I got to call and wait and hold. And I did that at work. But I've been with American Home Shield for 17 years in total and I don't have an issue. But I noticed that when you call in, there's a language barrier. It's hard to understand them. But they usually help me and they're super nice.

The worst home warranty I have ever had!!! I contracted with the Company on September 2022 and our contract started after a month so they make sure that no preexisted conditions were there before the contract. My dishwasher broke almost a month after the contract started so they sent us a company to check it. This company ordered some pieces and installed them but the dishwasher didn't work so they mentioned that the touchpad has to be replaced too. They ordered the piece and on their way to install it I received a phone call from the warranty saying that they don't approve the fix and they need a second opinion!!! They sent the second company (which seems to be coming for one reason which is to write a diagnosis that the dishwasher was broke along time ago) So American Home Shield denied the fix saying that this is a preexisting condition (although it is not).
The customer service were not helpful at all and they didn't offer us any solution, so we ended up of canceling our contract (and paying the penalty of early cancelation too which shows how cheap and horrible this company is!!!!) Find another company and don't waste your money and time with American Home Shield!

I submitted a claim online and I just got emails or texts. I thought I had a leak. So, another company came out, cut a hole in the ceiling, realized it wasn't a leak. It was just my AC unit sweating. The drywall company took over a month. The tech never reached out. Because it was a small job, he didn't want to do it. I called him, he never called me back. He finally called me back on a Friday day and said, “Can you come out?” But I was at work. So, we made an appointment for 8:00 to 11:00 on Monday. I stayed home from work, he never showed up. He called me at 12:30 and said, “I'm here. I'm on the way.” I said, “I'm at work now.” Then he said, “Oh. Well, is anybody home? Can they go home?” I said no.
He promised me he would be there at 11:00 AM the next day and showed up an hour and a half late without calling. His job was fine, but I never want to use them again. If that's who American Home Shield is gonna use, that won't work. It was my only time having to use them, but the experience wasn't great. So, if I have another experience like this, I'd probably switch home warranty companies.

My garbage disposal went out, and the plumber who came was great. He was quick, efficient, nice, and communicative, and he just had to replace the disposal. It was old. Our box out in the street was corroded as well, so we had the plumbing people come out. It looked like a leak, and at first, we thought it was a water softener issue, but it wasn't. The warranty didn't cover it because they said it was off property. I called the water district company because our water wasn't leaking. There was a leak, but it was coming from their side because it was corroding our box. They told me they are going to come out and send American Home Shield a letter with their finding, but that was a month ago and I haven't heard anything back. Our water’s not running.

American Home Shield sent someone to replace the breaker that had failed. But the feedback that we'd gotten from the plumber that was working on part of the issue had recommended us that we upgrade the breaker. Our well pump which is an aboveground jet pump kept tripping the breaker. Any time it lost power, I had to reprime it, which meant running to the neighbor's house, connecting hoses from their house to our house, backfilling and having to prime the pump that way. The electricians were able to plead our case, and American Home Shield approved upgrading the line from a 15 amp to a 20 amp.
There are still some issues on the well side but I don't know if American Home Shield covers well stuff because the main problem behind the well pump running too frequently, which was causing it to trip, is that we have a weak foot valve down in the well. Our pump runs every two to three minutes for 15 to 30 seconds to repressurize the line. When we flush the toilet and run the water for a while, it's constantly kicking on and off, which, after a while, is tripping the breaker. We are working with a plumber to try to get that foot valve replaced.
The tricky part when filing a claim with American Home Shield is not being able to specifically say what's wrong. There are only a few different options that you can choose from, which can make it difficult when somebody finally reaches out about the claim. You have to explain the process. Sometimes, the contractors need to be able to come and check out the problem. Then they come again because they couldn't do anything half the time when they first arrive. If we knew what was going on, it could give them some time to prepare beforehand to get the things that they might need to make it a quicker turnaround as far as the service.
A couple of weeks ago when DGM first came to change out the breaker for a fresh one, we were without water for four days. American Home Shield was on top of it as far as getting someone assigned. But there are those sorts of situations where it is an emergency. I've got three kids, three dogs and a wife. We need someone here that can take care of the issue ASAP. When DGM was able to come, they got it to a place where we could have water.
We have had situations in the past where we had a leak in our bathroom and we weren't sure exactly what was going on or which bathroom was leaking down into the downstairs because there are two bathrooms above the downstairs bathroom. It straddles the line between the two of them. It took from December until April to fix the problem. American Home Shield sent someone out but they could only do a couple of things. Then they realized it was a bigger thing and we needed to file another claim. Then we'd have to wait, file another claim then wait for them to respond.
The day that the contractor was supposed to come, they severed their ties with American Home Shield. We were up a creek so we had to call American Home Shield and say, “We need someone here today if at all possible.” Within a couple of days, they were able to find a company who came and fixed the problem. No ifs, ands, or buts. Everything since then, has been a very quick turnaround and resolution, but that initial process was a little drawn out.

I like American Home Shield's service. When you need them, they will soon get someone out there and try to get everything fixed up for you. A circuit had went out. And it wasn't letting the furnace to ignite. It was a while for the tech to get it in because of supplies since the COVID. But when it got in, he came out, fixed it. We had no trouble at all since he fixed it. We had a good conversation while he was doing his work. He worked and we talked. And I told him, "When you come back, you tell them your own client said to send you back to put it in." Because I enjoy talking with him. AHS is a very good company to deal with. That's why I'm still with them.

I'm very impressed with AHS's service. When I called to report what I thought was a leaky water heater, I had somebody at my house right away Monday morning. They followed through, kept me informed, and called the next people that needed to come in to take care of the problem. All of the techs were friendly and they explained everything. They were not in a hurry to leave and they waited and answered any questions I had. They were the best. When my policy from when I purchased a home is up, I will be seriously looking at renewing that policy.

My garbage disposal stopped working. A tech came out and found that there was a toy stuck in the blades. The blades had gotten off. He tightened it up and reset it. He worked very well and solved the problem. American Home Shield is a good program and I like it.

The door of my washer wouldn't stay closed while I was washing. It would always pop open. I did a claim on the American Home Shield and that was self-explanatory. They sent out a repair company and let me know who was coming. They could never get the parts and they ended up doing a replacement. The contractor was very good to explain what was going on and told me the process of how long it was probably going to take to get things. I've been using American Home Shield for maybe 15 years and they've been pretty good with honoring their word on the contract. It's very affordable too.

My furnace had gone out. The techs had brought a new furnace in and replaced it. It worked for a week, and then it started having some issues. It wouldn't come on. I called them and they came out the same day. It was the overflow drain. They fixed it and straightened it out. Everything's been fine since then. Everything was wonderful. The only issue I had was when I called and tried to get them scheduled, it took them two weeks to get out to see me. But I like the service of AHS. They jump right on it and get everything taken care of really quickly.

There was a broken chlorine generator and some pipe work that needed to be done and another little housing cover. It was very pleasant dealing with the tech and everything seems to be working as it should. American Home Shield’s customer service reps were trying to upsell me. They were very passionate.

The cooktop burners were not working. I did the claim online and the website is good. But the work done got delayed. The parts are delayed a lot. I did this claim in the month of September and still, I'm waiting for some of the parts. The contractor is good. But they haven't finished properly at one point and they forgot the screws right now. The tech came last week, but still those screws are missing from his end. Again, he placed order for the screws. Now, the burners are coming out, which is weird. They are good at troubleshooting but work is getting delayed because of parts. The good part of American Home Shield is that if I submit a request, naming the contact and everything is good. They are sending the contact immediately, like within one hour. But after that, it depends. Sometimes on the weekend, you don't get the contractor. But apart from that, they are doing their best.

We have received two furnaces, one air conditioner, a couple of water heaters, a new oven and dishwasher. We have thought about canceling American Home Shield but we still need one more air conditioner that is on its last leg, so we don't want to cancel it until that goes. We had had our annual inspection, and the people that came out said that there was a crack in the intake manifold. And when Piedmont Maintenance came out, they said that everything was fine. So hopefully, everything was fine. The gentleman was not friendly. He just came in and said, “Up! I don't see anything. Everything is good,” and walked out. But I have found AHS to be satisfactory.

A contractor came out for my dishwasher, my washing machine, and my air conditioner. They were wonderful. They came out twice to try to fix the washing machine. I was disappointed at first that American Home Shield wouldn't give me a new one. Why fix it twice when it's old? After the contractor came out and fixed it the third time, American Home Shield finally gave me a new one, and I love it. We got what we wanted and it’s a better one than I expected. The only thing is my husband complains about it. There's no light in the dryer. But I don't care. I love the color. It’s black. Inside, it’s stainless steel. It won't rust inside of it. It’s so modernized compared to the other one that didn't have these different techniques. Also, the washer’s bigger inside.

My heater quit heating. The contractor texted me when they were coming and I had an excellent experience with them. The only problem was it took quite a while and it got cold here. The whole unit had to be replaced so they had to order that part and it took a week or so. But they let me know all along what was going on. Get AHS. It covers everything in your house.

There are some issues that I have with American Home Shield’s plans and one of them is for plumbing. If the screw falls out of the handle, they will replace the screw. But if the drain breaks and doesn't go down right and it's because a piece of it chipped off, they won't repair it because it has a missing piece. According to the plumber, it's not part of American Shield's contract, which is dumb. But all in all, AHS is a great plan and any homeowner should get, not necessarily AHS, but a home warranty plan. I've not had any problems when it came to repair of my appliances. It's always been plumbing and they like to use the same individuals.
I got the plumbing issue fixed in my kitchen but it wasn't done in a clean and flush way. I had to have the repair guy come back out four times because they never fixed the original problem. If someone calls back in for a plumbing issue that wasn't resolved, they should have some kind of caveat where they need to go to another plumbing facility or give them other options especially if the first option is not working. They told me that I could choose to go to someone else and they'll pay a portion of it. But that's bull.

I sent in a claim for my washer and dryer and the contractor was able to get everything fixed. We've had American Home Shield ever since we've been here and it's really been super helpful for us. It's convenient and easy. It's a little bit pricey for some people, but it's a $75 callout, and if they can't repair it, they replace it. There's no other type of insurance that will cover you for that. We've even used American Home Shield for a return pipe under the floor. The contractor dug up the floor and replaced the burst pipe. Then they put it all back together except for the flooring. That would have cost us thousands and thousands of dollars. So I definitely recommend American Home Shield to people.

Except for the delay in contractors, everything's been good with American Home Shield. Recently, we had our annual furnace checkup. Before that, we had a refrigerator issue. The people that were supposed to come and look at the refrigerator called and canceled. They just left me a message saying we'd have to reschedule and left a date for two weeks later. I bought a refrigerator to put in the garage so that we had a refrigerator because it was weeks before our refrigerator got even addressed and fixed. You would think that they would understand that there's some urgency to that. American Home Shield could get more contractors who can address the issues.

My garage door started making a crazy squeaking noise. Two days went by, I couldn't get it to move more than two feet either up or down. I called American Home Shield and they called Ace's. Then, Ace's called me. The guy came out in the early evening and determined that the electronic circuit board that goes in it had been corrupted, and it wasn't feeding the right signals to the electronics of the motorhead. So, he replaced that. It works great. So far, everything's been great with American Home Shield.

We just bought the house not too long ago and we're not familiar with the furnace and it had stopped working. We tried to fix it ourselves but we couldn't find out what was wrong with it. The man came over and was able to fix it for us. There was a gas switch that that had been inadvertently turned off. It was an issue with us not knowing how to fix it ourselves but he showed us how to do it. American Home Shield’s website was super easy to navigate and the service from the contractor was good. The guy was nice and courteous. He came over when he said he was going to.

I had a pipe that was leaking. The contractor came out and fixed the pipe and reconnected it under the sink. They did have to come back because when they fixed it, they caused another problem. But they fixed that too. We're doing great.

They replaced the whole furnace but a few days later, we noticed that the furnace wasn’t coming up the heat. We called them back out and they had to come out three or four times before they got it fixed. But they stuck with us until they got it done. Every time we called them, they came right back out.

I was very happy with the technicians with Oldham County Electric. They fixed the issue very quickly. However, the claim that’s in process is taking quite a bit of time. It has to do with a shower faucet. They tried to replace the cartridge which usually will take care of the problem, but it didn't. The technician said it would need to be replaced. American Home Shield sent another technician and he tried to fix it. Finally he decided he couldn't fix it, that it would need to be replaced. When I called American Home Shield, they weren't even aware that the technician was going to request a cash-out. They're gonna give me an estimate to pay for me to have it done. I am happy overall with American Home Shield. I know, too, that when you have to replace something, it's always going to take a little bit more effort.

We had a slab leak and someone was sent out within an hour. After the plumbers sent the amount for the service. American Home Shield paid their portion and then I paid my portion. The plumbers then got to work. The next day, the leak detector came and the next day, the plumbers did the repair. Everything's working okay now so far. I've also done the free heating tune-up with American Home Shield the week before that and that was pretty quick, too. Technicians called the next day to schedule and they were out the next day.

We had our garbage disposal replaced. It was very easy. We call AHS. There's a payment for someone to come out and they took that. The plumber just came in and replaced the disposal. We didn't need to pay him anything. My husband worked with the technician and he said it went very well. But it was better before they raised their price $10 a month.

I had an issue with a toilet that was leaking between the tank and the bowl. I was amazingly surprised at how good the process at AHS was. What was impressive was that AHS said, "Okay, 24 to 48 hours," I said, "This involves some water, not heavy, but water can do damage." I had a call back from the plumbing service within 15 minutes of my filing a claim. They were also there within two hours. The technician was good. I poked my head in wanting to know what was going on and he explained it. He left everything clean at the end.

For my recent claim with AHS, Mckinney Appliance is by far, heads and above. They were so efficient. They got the job done. The washer is working well now. The issue with Draingo Plumbing still has not been resolved. They didn't even know that my heater vents were staying on in my air conditioner. I had to call the 24-hour contractor.
I had a broken pipe and Draingo Plumbing sent his son up to my house to fix it in the master bedroom shower. While they were here, I went to my mom's bathroom and turned on her tub just to see dripping. Now, the honest one that went down there with me first, said, "I can see where the master shower is leaking this way and the garden tub that way." But the guy told me, "Your garden tub is not leaking." I said, "What then are all those pipes?" He said, "That doesn't mean your garden tub is leaking. It's just all attached to the shower. It's the shower that's leaking."

The dryer wasn't working anytime I would close the door. The knob would just go and you would hear a ticking sound, but nothing would happen. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. And it came out that I was closing the door too roughly. I just had to close it lightly and make sure I connected for it to work. So there was nothing for the techs to repair. But they were good and very helpful. Everything else I called American Home Shield out for, they did a good job and I had no issues.

I like that I have someone to call but I don't like that sometimes, you have to wait for the service call. I live in Florida and I had a neighbor who has AHS and their AC went out and she had to wait three days for them to get out. And that's a problem. That's a long time in Florida to be without air.

I'm very happy with American Home Shield and have been their customer for six or seven years. I needed their help one month ago and techs came to fix my water heater. I paid $75 for the deployment and 150 for what they needed. Everything was fine. If I have the opportunity, I will recommend American Home Shield to my friends because I'm happy with them.

My air conditioner on the first floor was leaking. It was Friday after thanksgiving when I submitted the claim and the tech was her Monday morning. He was very helpful. He told me what to do and how to do maintenance on it. He was wonderful. I love having American Home Shield. Anytime I've had somebody out, they've always tried to help and teach me what I can do for maintenance on my own so I don't have to make any more calls.

AHS is alright but I’m not happy that they never communicated to me that I could upgrade to a better service. I found out that for $10 more, I could have protection for my refrigerator, my washer and everything. I have a claim for the dishwasher and American Home Shield is sending a new one but it’s taking a long time. The claim was opened two days before Thanksgiving and they’re not gonna bring it until the 13th. The customer service reps speak well and are professional. Sometimes though, the first person that you talk to are not good. They don't know anything about anything. I called to find out the status of my claim and the rep couldn’t tell me. I had to tell her everything and then she said that she has to transfer me to the people that handle the ordering.

When the dryer was not heating, the contractor did a really good job. They couldn't fix it so I got a new one. My husband works for GE, so we were able to get a good one, and it was cheaper than they could even do it. So it worked out really well and everything's working very well now.

American Home Shield has usually been good. I recently had a toilet that wasn't draining or filling up correctly. The plumber came out in two days, and he was fast and got it fixed. On the other hand, I had one experience last year where the person American Home Shield partnered with took four times to fix an issue. I couldn't do anything else but bring the same people back out who couldn't get it fixed right because they had a claim on the repair. It got fixed. I was just without AC for about six weeks in July.

I had issues with my microwave. I did a claim with American Home Shield representatives and they were good. The tech that came did a good job as well. Getting the equipment from the manufacturer into the home took the longest period of time. That took a couple of weeks. All in all, use American Home Shield but don’t abuse them and satisfaction is guaranteed.

The whole experience for our claim on the busted toilet was great. The guy was nice and knew what he was doing. He got the job done in a short amount of time and I have absolutely no complaints. American Home Shield is always there when I need them and if I need a rush done on something, it gets taken care of. My heater was periodically stopping. I submitted my claim on Sunday. American Home Shield dispatched a company that day, but the company didn't get back with me until Monday. And they came out on Tuesday, which was the soonest they were able to arrive. They were able to resolve the issue quickly and got me back up and running.

American Home Shield sent me an email for an AC and furnace check right before the season starts. I went back on and scheduled it then Whitney T Holdings came out and did the inspection. The technician shared some findings with me and told me everything looked good. He talked about maintenance on my end, what I needed to do to make sure that my furnace was operating in optimal conditions. I've also had the service through my local energy provider, and I canceled that because I was thoroughly impressed with the responsiveness and the technicians that American Home Shield sent out.

I have cancelled American Home Shield yet I got charged last month from my credit card. It was not supposed to have been taken out because I called to cancel. I guess I have to do more than what I've done. I didn't talk to the right person. They need to improve the way that people cancel and make sure that they don't have to do a trail to find out if they have really been canceled. Also, I wasn't satisfied until the last person came and fixed what he said he would fix and he didn't have to come back. I like that.

American Home Shield takes care of business if stuff goes bad. I had two things going on. The first one, the guy that was to look at my refrigerator talked to me by phone. We just turned the switch, and the refrigerator came back on. The second, the plumber did something with my toilet sink.

I would highly recommend the company. I've had nothing but good service. It's quick and professional, and sometimes they do video services. That way they don't have to have multiple visits. I appreciate that, being mindful of my time. Recently, I submitted an order to have my bathroom fan repaired. The repair people made an appointment immediately, then they came out and got it done. I like the way AHS does it. If I have a need, I can just get in touch. The upfront money, I can pay it online, and then the people get in touch with me and let me know when they can come out. I had a tune-up for my furnace recently. The techs were professional. They did what they had to do and left. I was very satisfied.

American Home Shield is a little pricey, but for us, we don't have to worry about the time it takes to maintain all three different properties that we have with them. They sent Axis for the dryer. They diagnosed it. Someone was going to place an order. Whenever the part came in, they were going to come by. They ended up getting in a car accident, which was out of their control. So, then we rescheduled for Saturday. The guy who came on Saturday said that it wasn't making any noise. So, it was fine.
My mom placed another work order because it started making the same noise again. This time, she recorded the video. So, I sent it over to the lady who coordinates the tech. She left me a voicemail so I could send the video to her number. Overall, the online claims submission is very user-friendly. I had to call recently and it was a nightmare. I was asking the same question over and over. So, it was a waste of time. If I could just do everything online, that would be great.

A tech responded quickly for the microwave that wouldn't heat. He had to get a part but got it done. However, I just switched to Choice because they have better rates than American Home Shield.

For my heater claim with AHS, the techs never told me what was going on, they just fixed it. They didn't say, "We're replacing this or replacing that." But they were very courteous. They were right on it and they switched whatever it was they had to. We tried it out, it worked, and that was the end of that.

American Home Shield is not the best. It's not what I thought it would be. If you have a problem with the device, you don't get dollar-for-dollar. It's like a prorated type of insurance which is a little bit misleading. If you add, for example, a KitchenAid brand stove, and that broke, depending on how old they estimate it is, they offer you a prorated amount for a replacement which can be also cashed out as a Lowe's gift card. But at least I'll have something. I bought an older house recently, so we're finding a lot of issues with it. It's mostly the people American Home Shield contracts with they should improve. There's no quality control on that. We've had some scamsters come in here. They're good to write them off and not use them again. We've also had two companies come in where they tried to rip us off.

American Home Shield sent a plumber when my refrigerator had to be replaced. The plumber never showed up yet he posted to them on the same day that he had done the job. We're in a gated community, so everybody has to come through the guard shack and get a ticket. They register every single person that comes in with their name, the company they’re with, and their license plate. I have evidence that he did not come through the gate but American Home Shield didn't wanna hear that. Four times, I talked with the representative. Each time, they said that they would send it to a higher-up for resolution. When they said they would assign it for a second opinion, they assigned it to the same man that didn't show up the first time. That was the most annoying part.
When the man declared that my refrigerator could not be fixed, he said I needed a plumber because it was leaking. He replaced the hose to the refrigerator as well. He said, “It needs to be replaced before they deliver your refrigerator.” American Home Shield originally said it would be delivered on November 4th then it was confirmed November 11th. There was plenty of time for them to get another plumber out here. The fifth time that I called them, I told them I was done with them. That was when they finally sent out another plumber. He was there the next day. When I called to see when he had me scheduled, he said he was in the neighborhood. He was there in 30 minutes and it was a very minor fix.
They had to deliver the refrigerator and the man even noted on the bill of lading that there was an extreme leak. They couldn't leave it on for very long because there was water pouring out on the floor. They didn't even pay any attention to that. I don't know where that goes, if it went to the appropriate person, but the fact that they did not believe me was unnerving, and that they were gonna send it to somebody else. Now the plumber has to pull the refrigerator out, fix it then hook it back up. Overall, American Home Shield has been great other than that one incident. Right after Thanksgiving, the oven part on my stove went out. I thought I'd give American Home Shield one more chance to get this right. If they do, I'll stay with them. If they blow it this time, then I'm done with them. The man who’s supposed to fix it is coming today.

The electric company didn't finish the job for me. They were supposed to fix five outlets. The gentleman said they only gave him an hour to do it. He did two of them. I was charged $100 for that. He said he'd come back the next day. That was over two weeks ago or more. I called and made a complaint but nobody responds to it. Other than that, American Home Shield is doing a good job. I have three other accounts with them.

Sears came out recently for the stovetop. I’m very happy with them. The contractors with American Home Shield have been able to fix some things that have been broken. I've been generally happy, although there's one thing I wasn't quite so happy with last year. The people that they contracted out with left the place a mess. I didn't feel that it was well taken care of. Also, I wish the turnaround time to call back was quicker.

The contractor came out and identified the problem. There was a problem with the switches on the circuit box that controls all of the electricity in the house. He fixed what's in there. The process was good. My services with them is month to month for now. $125 was excessive. But with the way that American Home Shield is doing it right now where I have to pay even before they tell me who's coming to my house, that I have a problem with. I have to pay $125 before the contractor comes to my house. We've been homeowners over the past 40 years, and I have never had to do that. And I've had issues with providers that I have been recommended to in the past with them not making the appointments.

My garbage disposal was leaking. When the tech came out, he said that apparently whoever put it in seven years ago didn't screw it down. So it cost me $125 for him to come out here and the only thing he did was turn a screw. He was out here 10 minutes. But I have no problem with the scheduling. The tech came out pretty quick. It's just that I pay $59 a month and then I have to pay $129 for one visit, which was kind of disheartening.

The first time the repairman came out for my refrigerator that was leaking, it was not that great. The second time he came out, he did the best he could. Apparently, he tried to clear out some clogged lines that he thought he found. Then he told me that whatever was catching the water was not big enough or not catching it correctly. He said that wasn't something he could fix. He removed the icemaker in the freezer because I don't use that and told me that I just need to make sure I let it defrost itself every six months. While I am not thrilled with what they did with the refrigerator, American Home Shield did a great job on the plumbing claim.

I had a tune-up on the furnace. Getting it ready for the winter and making sure everything was okay. The techs came in a timely manner. With my range claim, I had issues with that. The techs scheduled and they came on time. They were very professional. They found that there was an issue with the switch, the reason why the stove would get higher and I couldn't control it as far as turning it down. The tech left the part showing that he had switched it out. I was thinking everything was all good. But when we used it, found out it’s still having similar issues. It seemed like it got too hot. When I went to turn it down, it didn't appear to turn down to a lower temperature as I expected it to. I called AHS back and I told them what was going on.
They sent the technician back out. At that point in time, they told me that they were going to get a second opinion. However, when the technician came out the first time, he made me aware that it was 12 years old. Now I got an appointment for someone to come back on the 13th to diagnose it. And they’ll make the decision as to whether something can be replaced, or if there is something wrong with it.

American Home Shield is quick on responding and send very professional people out. We're very pleased with their service and we can always contact them when we need them. Everything went well when I had a roof repaired. But with the recent claim with my refrigerator, the techs have not repaired anything. I called AHS this morning because we haven't heard back from the one that came out to do the second opinion. They haven't gotten a diagnosis.

There are usually a lot of issues and things that you don’t know are gonna happen when buying a home for the first time and American Home Shield helps. It’s like an umbrella for it. We did the rekey service for this property and that was phenomenal. The tech was great, courteous, professional, clean and organized. I have a claim now for an appliance and AHS already got the results but what they were offering wasn’t comparable to what we had, so they're trying to look it up. I talked to somebody yesterday about it and we got disconnected, and they never called back. So. I was trying to call them back and get it figured out. So far, AHS is working with us on everything that we need. So, it’s been good so far.

I placed a claim to replace the garage door openers and there was a wait. But I called around and everybody in town had a long wait. So, everybody's busy. There was a cancellation though and we were bumped up, which was appreciated. The technicians were great. They were very friendly, knowledgeable and helped us get on the app that worked with it. And the gal in the office was nice too.
I had a repair several years ago for a replacement of a microwave and AHS replaced it with equal value. But I was upset with them when our swamp cooler quit. It was in the 100s and it was three weeks to get anybody out. I finally hired my own because it was taking too long and AHS said that I'd have to pay for it and then get reimbursed. So, I wasn't happy with that experience. But I called and talked to a supervisor, and she waived my deductible. So that went fine. AHS has been good. I just got a renewal notice for January though and they went up almost 35%. So, I don't know if I'm gonna renew or not at that price.

I had a couple of my air conditioning units went out. Two of them required some minor stuff and for one of them, they kept trying to fix it. It never got fixed, and they finally had to replace the unit. The repairman was great. He was thorough and super friendly. I was very happy with that.

The sink was draining really slowly and once I ran the dishwasher, it was really clogged. The tech was nice. He checked the drain and he said he needed to get a snake. He said it was a significant clog but the issue was resolved. I recommend American Home Shield. It gives peace of mind that if something happens, I can call them. So far, all the problems have been resolved.

It’s a very interactive, user-friendly website. Once I put in the claim online, someone from AHS called me. The contractor did their job. Everything's working fine.

My heat went out and the tech was really good. I prefer him over Plumb Genius who billed on my house and said they fixed some stuff they never did. Another company had to come and fix my issue the proper way. They weren't supposed to come back to my house but they ended up coming to my house Saturday when I had my stove fixed and I had to pay $200. AHS submitted two different $100 service calls on me. Other than that, I love AHS and I've referred three different people to them.

I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and I liked them. I didn't want to leave them. But I’m a insulin person and needed my refrigerator fixed. They told me I had to pay $125 so I paid it because I needed that refrigerator. On the day the repairman was supposed to come out, he cancelled. I'm in Oklahoma and he was in Texas. What’s so cold about it, is every time I tried to call, they hung up in my face. American Home Shield gave me my money that I was supposed to pay the guy that was supposed to come out and fix my refrigerator. I was buying ice every other day. Insulin's gotta stay cold. I'm on Social Security so I couldn't afford it. I just went on to call somebody else out. I won't go back to American Home Shield. It wasn't them but they could have pushed the button a little bit more and make this guy come on out when he was supposed to come out.

What I like now with AHS is that they're answering the phone. I love it. It used to be we had to wait for 20 minutes. However, some of the vendors are very awful, lazy, and don't do their job. But hopefully, I will be able to continue to request those that are very good.

Chesapeake Repair came to our house and fixed a microwave. So far, my experience with them is very good. Brian was a skilled technician and he was familiar with the equipment. He diagnosed the problem immediately and gave us an idea of what his troubleshooting was as well as what he thought the problem was. He found that there was a loose contact and he corrected that. The issue seemed to have been resolved. But about half a day later, we noticed that the issue returned. The whole panel probably needs to be replaced. Brian also suggested that it may be that but he wanted to try that first thing first. The part was ordered and Brian will be called back to install it. Communication has been near superb with text and email. Brian called personally too.

American Home Shield helps with our house because we had a lot of deferred maintenance on the appliances. So, they helped us with getting new ones. They have been very easy to work with. When you call, they're very responsive. They set up appointments immediately. And if you have any concerns, they address them. A local person recently came and looked at all the locks and fixed them for us. Got them all on one key instead of every door different. The tech was very good and efficient.

I had a recent claim with AHS for the washing machine. The techs that came out were great. They also came out and did AC work twice at my house. The first year, they replaced the inside unit. The second year, they replaced the condenser outside and it was good besides one little mix-up.

I've been with American Home Shield for two and a half years and they have been excellent. I did a claim for a water leak recently and the tech that came was great. It turned out I didn't have a water leak. The only thing is American Home Shield could improve their wait times for calls.

I had a claim for an oven and a refrigerator. The contractor who came out was great. For the oven, it was not fixable, so AHS has provided me for replacement value. For the refrigerator, they were able to refurbish a part. It took them about a week to do that.

My master bedroom was not getting enough heat. The contractor came out and looked at the furnace and ascertained that I needed a dedicated duct ran into the master bedroom. I loved the service. The tech was nice and respectful. He told me, "You could get by with what you have, but you might want to look into down the road having a duct put in." Some contractors would want money today and they'll use any kind of tactic. But he didn't do that at all.

My washer was not working. It was leaking water and it was making a loud noise. A tech from Dan's Appliance Repair came out and he was very attentive to what we are looking for and he was on time. I really appreciated that.

I did a dishwasher claim to American Home Shield and they sent Sears. The technician was not very responsive. I tried to tell him what the problem was, but he said, “I'll find out.” As far as Home Shield, it took several weeks before they finally got to the point where they realized that the dishwasher was not repairable. They went through trying to find parts. Sears said they were gonna find parts, which they could not because I guess it's outdated. Eventually, AHS gave me a gift card to have it replaced.
Even if I had to wait would be fine. The dishwasher wasn't running, and food or stuff accumulated in the drainage. I called and called and told them, “Look, it's smelling really bad in my kitchen. I'm having people over for Thanksgiving.” It started in October and they said someone would call me back. They kept saying they were working on it, but it took months.
In the meantime, the whole kitchen in my house was smelling like a sewer. I had people over for Thanksgiving and had fans here in the house. It was terrible for my guests. They understood and they were so accommodating. We had them in a different room and a different place rather than the dining, but it was disruptive. I don't really want to have to call AHS so often for them to realize the seriousness of the problem or that it really is not fixable by parts before they replace it.
What the contract told me was if it cannot be fixed, it will be replaced, but it took so long for them to determine it could not be fixed. They could not get in contact with Sears. I didn't understand that. They set it up for Sears to come out. They came out but when it came to them calling them back to get in contact to fix what was going on with the parts, they couldn't reach them. After that, I did have AHS fix two faucets in my kitchen and my mudroom, and they got to that really quickly. They sent Moreno Plumbing. They called and came over almost as soon as they can and they fixed that. I'm very happy with Moreno Plumbing.

A refrigeration company came out for our washing machine. The noise sounded like a jet engine and they diagnosed a problem with the bearings on the tub and they wouldn't have it be fully replaced, so it was warrantied out. We're getting a new one delivered tomorrow. Before that, we had a problem with our refrigerator as well as with our dampers on our furnace. I don't have a problem with submitting the claims to American Home Shield. It's when I have to follow up on the claim that I have issues. If I'm online and I look up my claim, it'll tell me the most recent information but I can't add any comments or do anything so I always have to call the 800 number. Some contractors are better than others and most are good. But the most recent one didn't return phone calls. I contacted the 800 number again and they took care of it.
I like the peace of mind that I have with AHS. If there was a problem on my house, I am most likely protected in that I don't have to hunt down a contractor and worry about being charged an excessive amount for a service I don't necessarily need. The price is captured so it reduces the worry, overall, about home maintenance.

I've had American Home Shield for years. They were out doing their calls to foreign countries. And you couldn't even get in, and then I wouldn't get called back. But lately, the last couple of times I've had to use them, they've been good. Recently, the AHS rep I spoke to was a very nice man. He set me up for the service quickly. The refrigerator was out completely. The techs had to put on some board. It took them almost two weeks because they couldn't get the part. But the techs were really good. I also had tons of repairs for my pool. But they put in used parts. I hope they can put in legitimate parts instead of rebuilt ones.

As part of the home warranty that my Realtor bought for us as a closing gift, American Home Shield provides a rekey service as part of the warranty. I just initiated that rekey service. And they replaced or they rekeyed the locks on the exterior doors of the home. They allowed up to three rekeys, and I happen to have three exterior locks, so I could also get those. And they reached out to me to inform me that they provided that service. They called me to set it up even. The tech was great. He did the rekey and adjusted one of my doors because it was not closing very well and difficult to lock because of that. He did some stuff that was beyond the rekey. That door works better than it did before he came.

I filed my claim online. American Home Shield sent somebody out right away. They were very professional, nice and informative. They came out and found that my stove was no longer made. It was brand new, two years old, but they don't make parts for it anymore. So, AHS offered to send me a card to get a new one myself or they would replace it. And they gave me a lot of choices. And they took care of it. I've had AHS send contractors out four times, and every time, they were right on top. We just had our sink faucet go out. They also sent somebody out right away on that. My air conditioner, the same thing. I have recommended AHS to friends and family.

I just signed up for American Home Shield a couple of months ago, and I've had to use it three times. The last one had to do with our refrigerator that was freezing up. The refrigerator side was getting too warm and the freezer side was going way down lower than the default. We had a contractor come out to look at it. Most of the contractors have been great but I was a little disappointed with the last one who came for the refrigerator. I could not get to the house when they showed up. They interacted with my son who's 20. If I was there, I would have asked a few more questions to follow up on what the problem was. He just told my son we need to unplug the refrigerator and let it sit for 24 hours then plug it back in.
There's a gasket that was damaged on the refrigerator that I felt should have been replaced. I went ahead and replaced it myself. I'm still dealing with some issues. There's a clog that's occurring in the pipe where the freezer drains, so ice is building up. I can't seem to get that unclogged myself. I'm having to check on it and make sure the ice doesn't build up. Once I clear that out of there, it's running fine.

I've had some great experiences and some bad experiences with AHS. When you see who it is that AHS contracts on Google or Yelp, they're always 1 or 2 stars. In the summertime, I had a horrible experience 'cause my air conditioner went bad. It stopped blowing cold air. I called American Home Shield. The air conditioner guy came and told me, "It's an electrical issue. It's nothing I can do." I had to call American Home Shield. It was another whole day that I had to wait for them to contact me. The electrician couldn't even come until Friday.
I ended up having to get a hotel room for four days because my house was 95 degrees. When the electrician came on Friday, he said all he had to do was take it out of the bottom plug. If he had unplugged it and put it in the top plug, it would have worked. I was out almost $700 for a hotel room, and the copay, for something that all you had to do was unplug and plug in. I was not very happy. I almost got rid of the American Home Shield after that. Then they redeemed themselves with something that happened with my pool that got fixed. But, for my hot water heater, they sent out a plumber that was horrible. He told me, "We're going to have to repipe this and this isn't going to be covered." I ended up telling them to just go. I'd find my own plumber because I didn't want to come out of pocket like that.

With the other home warranty provider, we've had issues with getting people here and people doing their job right. But with American Home Shield, it's been great. I would recommend 100%. The service is quick. I get an email saying the worker is on his way. I know they're coming. I just wait for them and they show up when they say they're gonna show up. The guy who came for the washing machine was serious about his job. He didn't want to get bothered. I would tell him something, but he wouldn't say anything until I said, "Hey, those are some nice boots, man. I got a pair like that in one of those boxes." Then we started talking.

I had issues with American Home Shield when I lived in California. The first thing to go south was the washer that was in the house. It was a washer-dryer combo and they would not replace it because it was an older unit. They gave me a terrible time with that. I tried to go through them to buy a discounted unit and they couldn't offer me a discount.
Then, I bought this place here in Oklahoma and they called to set up a thing. I told them no because of the problem that I had with them in LA. But the guy said they would cover everything. I'm paying for the top tier program here for $100 a month. They did me right whenever they covered the whole compressor thing outside. I had multiple issues with the air conditioner. It wasn't cooling, it was leaking coolant or Freon, and then the catch pan under the unit inside my garage was leaking. They just finally replaced the whole condenser. They were trying to decide if they were gonna replace the coil or just replace the whole condenser and they replaced the whole condenser.

We had a water leak in the upstairs sink and the water was leaking downstairs. When the contractor looked at it, there was something loose upstairs. So they just tightened it up and it was done. They were very professional and down-to-earth. They were laughing and talking, and I really liked them. Everything was a great job. We appreciated it. But when we had a heating problem afterward, it went on for a month and American Home Shield kept stalling and stalling, sending out different contractors. My mom is ill and my brother is disabled and we were freezing in this house. We had space heaters but American Home Shield kept stalling and stalling about they would send another contract out because he denied the first, saying the claim was too new and it was a pre-existing. So they sent out another one, Fire & Ice, but American Home Shield stalled us out for a month.
After that, American Home Shield said they still weren't gonna do the repair because it was still deemed non-existent. Now, if they had told us that in the beginning, we would've just went on and got the heater fixed. We wouldn't have to be going through a cold month in this house like that. So I'm not satisfied with the way they handled it at all. I'm not even working with them anymore. I'm working strictly with Fire & Ice so they can come in and go and replace this unit and we're paying for everything.

The furnace wouldn't heat. I was getting an error code. A high-limit switch was tripping. They changed out the high-limit switch, but that only lasted about a day. Then they found out that the control module was no longer putting out 24 volts, which is what the voltage of the different pieces of equipment in the furnace needs. Another guy came out, put it in, and he finished yesterday, and it's worked. The techs were outstanding, knowledgeable and prompt. I liked that they send you reminders through text messages or emails. They have an app on their phone or in their vehicle. Then it tracks where he's at. If you ever want to look and see if he is 5 miles away, then it updates. I was very impressed with them.

My experience with them is not great overall. There is poor communication, no follow-up and it takes multiple calls to resolve issues. In one instance, there was bad communication between a contractor and the home warranty company. I've had claims for a boiler replacement, hot water heater repair, and a washer-dryer repair. Some experiences have been fine, but two out of the three have not been great.
The washer-dryer repair is resolved. The boiler replacement has been resolved as well. It was surprising because although the contract states that there's a certain limit to the reimbursement that they would provide and that that limit includes the cost of diagnosis, it also included the same hourly charge for the repairman to drive from two hours away because that was the only repairman they could find to deal with the boiler issue. That ate into a huge chunk of what the home warranty company would pay to replace the failed equipment.
There's so much that could be improved including their access to a representative to just get a status update on a job that has been submitted for work. I have to wade through the same telephone prompts every time and it takes five minutes to get someone on the line to ask about the issue. Also, they outsource their customer service support so it's difficult sometimes to understand the reps. They have some kind of survey process in place where you can rate whether you can understand the customer service or you can rate how well you can understand the representatives. So, they're trying to get reps that their customers can understand.

We were with Home Shield for some years but we got out of it because I got very upset with them with a microwave claim they didn't want to pay. I felt like they gave me a hard time. They were very reasonable with me. I spoke to somebody higher up and she was willing to keep us on as a customer and they were going to even give us a discount on our premium. But we got out of it. Then we came back because I was very displeased with the other company we were with.
One thing I like about American Home Shield is that their contractors are a lot more professional, trained, and experienced. They know what they're doing and usually, when we file claims, we never had to wait a long time to get our service done. Also, I like the fact they give the contractor's name, address, and phone number. I just called them because my dryer was not heating and a microwave light was not working. Within three days, the contractor was out. I was pleased with the way the service went. The young man was very professional and quick.

I like the convenience of AHS. I like the service contractors that they provide. They've always been very professional and they've always solved my issue. But it's a little expensive.

With American Home Shield, you will get a quick response from them. And this is something that makes you confident that your appliance or system will be fixed on time. The heating system in my house wasn't responding well to the thermostat. And it was causing some noise when the unit starts and stops working. So, it's normal cycle, but it wasn't responding to the thermostat. The technician came and educated us about the thermostat, and replaced the old one with a new one. It works fine.

If something is covered under my service plan, they're able to send someone. But my disadvantage is in scheduling techs out in a sooner timeframe. If my heat or air conditioning were to go out, they can schedule an appointment or have a technician come. But they usually can't send someone right away. There were times where I thought about wanting to cancel because of that. Because I have elderly parents with me. So with those high temperatures, they don't need to be in a house that hot.
Recently, I had problems with my toilet which gives a loud sound each time it is flushed. The contractor's work ethic was good. I called on a Friday to get the service scheduled and they were able to get a technician out first thing Monday. The technician was able to correct the issue.

A plumbing company came for a leaky faucet. The first guy came out, figured out what it was, and scheduled a follow-up for a couple of days later. The technician who came out was very helpful. It was a quick and easy experience.

My unit wasn't working, so I filed a claim with American Home Shield. It was close to the holiday. They had to order the part, the part came in. The tech let me know ahead of time that he was in Athens, but he was on his way, came in the time frame he said he would, and fixed it. I remember him telling me because I told him about my AC too, and he said, "You got to do another claim." So, while he was here, I had to go back to work and my wife was here. So, I filed another claim and he got it, but he called me and said, "I just got another claim." I had to remind him of what he told me the prior week. So, he just turned around, came back, and fixed it. I have a great service with that company.

Usually, when we submit the claim, the process is easy, as far as calling them and making the payment. Then, they tell us the person coming out and the person sends us an email. I've had claims that were horrifying but my most recent one went very well. It was for the AC and Anthem Mechanical came out. They had to order a part and came back the following week. They did the work and they were fine. But the service is normally worse. The vendors that American Home Shield uses are usually very cheap vendors. One of them came out eight times and he still did not repair the icemaker. We had to buy a personal icemaker and call American Home Shield and tell them not to send him again. Also, over the years, they've increased their cost. I'm planning to move us out of American Home Shield because they have become costly and they use very cheap vendors.

There was a leak under our toilet, and the repair man went underneath and fixed the ring. His response time was fast. I was worried 'cause I didn't know how bad the leak was, but he came out in two days. So far, so good. We've had a lot of things break, and I'd rather pay $125 than buy a whole new whatever.

I had a really good experience. I had an electrical issue, so I called and placed a work order. The technicians called me almost immediately and came out within a couple of hours and resolved the issue. They were really great and on time.

The techs replaced a refrigerator that went bad. The claim process was easy. But AHS's price is too high. They've gone up since I first enrolled and it's overly expensive now.

Fifteen years ago, we owned a home in Virginia Beach and had American Home Shield. We loved them. And the military had me around the world and not in housing for 15 years. So once we moved back to the States and bought a house, we jumped right back out with AHS. They've been great for us. They offered a fall check your heater promotion. We did that, and they sent over a technician that checked the heater in the attic. No issues there. And the heater downstairs under the crawlspace, that one had a burned through burner cage, so there's a flame coming through. So a problem that was related to AHS. They attempted to put in a replacement part, but that part no longer exists. A determination was made by AHS to replace the heater unit itself. That was done very well and in a timely manner, so we were very happy with the program.
The contractor was awesome every time they came out. They were the guys who did the initial inspection. And they came out to replace a part, figured out they don't have the right part. Great dudes, very professional, they suffered through all the questions that I asked them about what's happening and what's next. I asked the Advanced management team at one point, "Hey, what are we doing here?" They were great. Finally, the final team came out for the install who were again professional, very good, and their work was good because we just had the County Home Inspector come out and said all the stuff was good for the gas installation. Everything's up to code.

Overall, I've had a good experience with American Home Shield. A plumbing company recently came for my water heater. The water wasn't getting hot fast enough, especially in the wintertime. The plumber addressed it and said there might be something else that needed to be done. They would send the paperwork to American Home Shield, but I haven't heard from them. I don't know if they're gonna cover that. It's not something that they usually cover and I'm not sure how to follow up on that. I am thinking about keeping the program going next year, but I'm not sure. Every time, they charge $75 for the services. They don't cover a lot of stuff like the fireplace. Also, their operators are overseas and sometimes, they're hard to understand. There's a language barrier.

American Home Shield has been great. I usually call them because it's a lot easier to do that than to do it on the computer. I use a certain company that comes out, and I want to be able to pick them instead of American Home Shield randomly picking somebody. Recently, we had our pool serviced thru them. They contractor was good. They know my pool.

It was time for my AC unit to be serviced and the representative came and checked the unit upstairs as well as the unit outside. American Home Shield allows me to have something in place if something goes wrong with my house.

I have used them in two different home and in all cases was very satisfied. They make appointment quickly and found their repair people to be very professional Al. They replaced motor in dishwasher, repaired old furnace (we were told it had to be replaced but they repaired and replaced a full air condition central compressor). I certainly got my money's worth!

We had two services. One is electrical and the other is plumbing. For the electrical, the contractor charged us for making the changes from two-prong to three-prong. I didn't want to argue with it, so I just went ahead with it and paid them the $100 in addition to what I paid American Home Shield. For the plumbing, the plumber was very helpful. We switched our four houses to American Home Shield, and so far, it's been very good. The online claims are not very precise though. If I want to change the faucet handle, they don't give you that. They just give you very general descriptions. Also, their customer service team is somewhere overseas. Their accent is sometimes hard to understand.

The repair guy unclogged the tubs and his performance was very professional. It was great. American Home Shield is professional too. If I put a claim in, somebody is normally out to fix the issue in two days. Sometimes, it’s soon.

AHS is on their game. I tell them what I need or what's wrong and they get somebody out there to fix it right away. What I don’t like is some of the people I have to deal with don't speak so good English. But they're a very professional company. For our recent claim, the techs thought it was one thing and they thought they fixed it. But they didn't. I called them and they came out the very next day. We had to replace the thermostat and that resolved the problem. It was satisfactory work. Tidied up when they left. I was very pleased.

I like American Home Shield's professionalism and the promptness. I made the call and I had somebody the next day. HVAC guy came out, came and just checked out what was going on with my furnace that wouldn't stay on. It was direct and to the point, what needed to get looked at in order to rectify the problem. "This is what's going on. This is what you got to look at." He was very informative.

Within a couple of days, the technician came. He was able to resolve my problem with the kitchen sink on the first visit. He was on time, polite and he let me know what he was going to do. He explained the process before he unclogged the pipe. Customer service with AHS has been okay. I had a problem with them a couple of years ago with a claim and we were able to get it resolved within a month.

I tried other companies before AHS, and AHS has been the best one so far. They take care of everything right away. I don't have to deal with taking time off work to reach back to them and find out what's going on. They reach back to me and let me know the progress or any type of updates. Recently, a contractor came out for a part of the claim with the piping that was done previously. It was a quick and timely process, and communication was good. Everything worked out well.

We're dealing with a claim for the dishwasher. There's no water coming in. The guy still hasn't gotten back with me and I'm still waiting. It has been almost three weeks now. Christmas is coming up and I need my dishwasher. We have to contact everybody. No one's following up with us. I'm wondering where my parts are and when they're gonna finish fixing my dishwasher.

I dropped AHS. First of all, when I put a claim in for my air conditioner, the company that was fixing it came out six times. It took the whole summer for him to fix the air conditioner. I had another issue with my plumbing and they said that it wasn't covered under whatever I had. Then I started having an issue with my refrigerator and I had to immediately go out and purchase a brand-new refrigerator. I contacted them and they said that I should have contacted them before I bought the refrigerator. I said, “I've been paying this for years and I really haven't even used this, and all the money I spent out, it's not even worth it.” I told them to cancel it.

I like AHS before. Now, it changed. It's hard to communicate with people. I can't understand sometimes their language. I don't know if they're calling from India or if I'm calling India. There was no way there for me to speak with a supervisor. I had an issue last summer with the free tune-up that AHS offers. They set it up with the AC company here in Jacksonville but the AC company never called me back. I reached out to them and they told me, "We'll call you next week." I called American Home Shield to let them know that this AC company was pushing me back. I wanted to have my free tune-up. American Home Shield told me, "Oh, this expired already for the summer." I said, "Why? I never got that service. Why can't I get the service? It wasn't my fault." I followed up with the AC company, with AHS, but nothing happened.
Time went by, winter came, and I called to set up the AC heating tune-up and they told me, "No, you can't because you already have in the summer." I said, "I never had it." I said, "If you look at the calls that I've made in the summer during June, it was a big stack of records that I called trying to speak with a supervisor trying to resolve this issue." Then finally, I got Paula and she was the only one that helped me with the issue and went to the bottom of it and spoke with a supervisor. It was a whole big mess. I was done with American Home Shield.

I had a recent claim for my washer and Harts Appliance came out. They figured it was a timer. They replaced the timer, worked for three days, and then it wasn't working. We had to call them back out and it ended up being twofold. It was the timer and it was the heating element. The tech had to correct both of them. It's great now. AHS has been great as well.

My AC is broken, and I don't think American Home Shield did a good job. This is the second claim I've made with American Home Shield about the AC. It worked for a little while, but now, it's not working at all. I had to make another claim. They're not sending very reputable AC companies. All these companies that AHS is sending have crappy reviews. So, I'm not too satisfied with them and I'm thinking about changing them. They also keep on increasing my fee.

When Sears came out, it was my stove. The digital display could not be read on it. So when I turn the stove on, I have no idea what the temperature settings or anything else is on the range. I called American Home Shield's toll free number. And I was connected to someone within a few minutes. The tech diagnosed the problem. And the range was old enough that no service parts were available. So, he put in a recommendation to replace it. He was very professional. I would highly recommend American Home Shield.

I like that American Home Shield does what they say they're gonna do. They help ensure that the things in my home are functioning properly. I filed a claim for the dryer that would not work, and the whole experience was great. Their contractor was very quick in coming out. They were very efficient. They let me know what was going on. American Home Shield has been pretty prompt about getting appliances and other problems fixed when I need services. Except for the last one, we've had to call the contractor back several times because it couldn't be fixed. It was a leak under the sink. So we didn't know whether it was connected to any of the appliances. The first guy couldn't even find the leak, though there was water under the sink everywhere. We called them back again, and I made sure Home Shield send them again. Then the second person found the leak and fixed it. But he said there might be problem with the part, which he would replace if it happened again. Then it did happen again. There was another leak and he came back the third time and fixed it. American Home Shield has been pretty prompt with supplying us with contractors. But sometimes the problem is at the contractor end, like when they can come out.

When I had a leak in my garage, American Home Shield couldn't find a vendor. The vendor was not available immediately. But American Home Shield reassured me that they're gonna find another vendor, which they did. It was really good. They were on time. The holes in the garage were covered up. I’m happy. American Home Shield is wonderful. I had issues with my leak and they were really on time and very proficient. They had great communication, so I don't have any issues. I always recommend my coworkers to them.

I have two homes and I got American Home Shield on both of them. I used the service recently and they finally fixed the refrigerator. It took them a long time because they had to get parts. I had previous work done by the home warranty and they're fine. Their technicians are very good. I have a lot better experience with the technicians than I do with actually talking to an individual at American Home Shield. It's hard to get ahold of somebody. And when you do, they keep asking you the same dumb question like, "What's your address? And is this you?" Other than that, the service is fine and I continue to use it.

GE came a couple of times and the technician was in such a hurry to put the dishwasher up without even watching if it's working or not or let us know later. The cycle goes in and at some part of the cycle, it starts making noises. They changed something but that didn’t work and I recalled for them. By the time I got to American Home Shield, they said that it’s been more than a month. I said that the problem hasn’t been solved. A part on the dishwasher is still on back order so right now, we're waiting for the part. We have to call them and tell them to take that part or motor and put in a new one. That's almost since September. The customer service at American Home Shield has got their hands tied, too. Some of them are overseas but the majority of it tried to do their best to help. But when you are on a different continent and you are here, it's hard.

Approximately, a month and a half prior to submitting a claim to American Home Shield, we started to get some backups and water would flood out into the garage. It seemed to be only on certain cycles. So, the problem kind of came and went a bit. Once we figured out what the issue was, through trial and error, we went ahead and reached out to AHS. The tech came to the front door, and then we went and we took a look at the issue. He verified through checking on his own that the line was, in fact, clogged. He went ahead and cleared the line out. We haven't had an issue with it since that point in time.

AHS has good service providers. My recent claim was the garage door opener a couple of weeks ago. The tech came out quickly in a couple of days. The only problem with that was the part was six weeks backorder. But they offered a different service to expedite it. I had to pay $335 out of my pocket to have the problem fixed, but it was worth it. I liked the service. So far, so good. They gave me a six-year warranty. They said, “As long as you have AHS, you still have the warranty on it.” However, I had a company who came out to do the refrigerator six months ago. They did the first problem, but then another problem came up. It took a month to have that first problem fixed. But they eventually fixed it.

We had a faucet leaking. My husband called AHS and they said, "Yes, it would be covered." They made an appointment with the plumber, and they came quickly. We did not like the faucet that they were offering, so we bought our own, and then the plumber installed it. He was fairly good, except he switched the hot and the cold, and we didn't have any power pressure on our water for a week. The second technician that came out had an accent, but he was fine. I'm pleased with AHS.

I called American Home Shield for the garage door that we couldn't get to open or shut. They said a garage door company was gonna be reaching out to me. When I talked to the garage door company, I told them what was going on. They asked me very specific questions which we were able to answer. The gal said, “I'm gonna have the technician bring what we think we need.” A repairman came out here and had the stuff with him. He was here at least an hour and replaced the springs. He did a great job. This service call was fantastic. I was amazed. It isn't always that way with some of the vendors that American Home Shield sends though.
