    I've always had American Home Shield since we bought houses. We even had it on our older home property for a while now and it's good protection. We are able to repair stuff right away without going into the savings account that much. They're reliable, convenient, and necessary. I do my claims online because it's quick and it's easy. I can do it on my own time. Recently, service people repaired a pipe that was leaking behind the toilet. They were awesome and super quick. I put in the claim the night before and the next day in the morning, they were already scheduling to come over.

    The service people were very professional and knew what they were doing. They were all certified and they all had their paperwork in order. They seemed reasonable too with their price. They had all the materials to fix the leak right away, so they didn't have to come over again. I already knew the guy because he was the one that installed my water heater when it broke last time. It's perfect now and there's no leak.

    I've used American Home Shield many times since I lived in this house and we've always gotten our issues resolved. The contractors are good quality. We had some slow draining in my shower. It ended up being the drain had a basket in it that had gotten all gunked up. The guy was here for five minutes. I like the online experience. I'm still old school and sometimes like to talk to people. But AHS' is very easy to use. And I like to do it. The response is usually quick. However, their fees have gotten high. That’s the only negative thing I have to say about them, which is like everything else in the world nowadays. When I started with them, it was 55. It's now 95. I've been with them since I lived in Maryland. It has been 15 years. So, of course, things go up. But 55 to 95 is a lot. But it's worth it because if my air conditioner breaks, I pay $75 and get it done.

    When I originally called AHS to get my home warranty, I thought it was too good to be true. I said, “Why doesn't every homeowner have this?” And the guy said, “Well, that's how we think.” I really thought, “Well, it's not going to cover this and it's not going to cover that.” But it's very clear in my contract what it covers, and I pay $75. If they can't fix it, they replace it. And I've paid $75 for the service call. A service call cost more than that. So, if you didn't have the warranty, you'd be paying more than that each time, plus if they can't fix it or you got to buy parts. It seems like a no-brainer to me. So, I'm an advocate of AHS.

    Something was wrong with the air conditioner. The gentleman came in. Unfortunately, it was during the holidays so I had to wait all weekend. That was a little bit of a bummer, but once he did come in, he fixed it very quickly and I have not had an issue after that. He is very professional. He comes in and gets the job done. It's the same gentleman I've had several times. As far as American Home Shield, they're always pretty quick out here. Sometimes it's not on them as far as the service provider, but they're always very helpful if I need something else.

    NO STARS! Consumer beware. I opened a service request on a heater/Air condition unit due to a fan not turning off after heater cycled. AHS contractor advised that the unit was oversized for our home causing overheating and to replace at a cost of $4800.00 not covered by AHS. Our unit is 4 years. No issues until now. Started working on getting financing. A week after AHS findings, our yearly service with Quick refrigeration happened. I asked the QR rep to check the our unit for the issue. He reported a bad switch not turning the fan off after unit cooled. The cost for repair, $1000. I contacted AHS and was told a second opinion had to be requested within 7 days of first diagnosis and by a AHS selected contractor.

    My issue/complaint: I am not a heater/Air condition expert. I paid AHS to protect me for these issues and counted on the expertise of the AHS contractors. I had no reason to believe the recommendation be in-accurate. It was by chance I found out otherwise. Because the 2nd opinion was outside of AHS contract, they would not cover the cost for repair. I have been with AHS for over 3 years at a cost of approximately $2,628 and now with a cost of $981 out of my pocket for something they misdiagnosed. It could have been $4,800 had I gone with AHS recommendation. AHS gets to keep $2,628 and wash their hands of any responsibility to me, the consumer. Consumer beware of AHS. Think twice, read all fine print and determine if this is the right company for you to give your money to for the security of home warranty issues.

    We did a claim for a repair to our heat. We didn't have heat for three days and it was something that was wrong. The vendor, Myers, came out and assessed it. They fixed it and we have heat now. I like that American Home Shield sends somebody out to assess when we have something wrong. Our out-of-pocket is not as much as it would have been if we were doing it totally on our own. And our house is almost 20 years old.

    A couple of the vendors we've had have not been up to standard and we reported it. We requested that American Home Shield didn't send that particular company out anymore. They were unprofessional and their voicemail stayed full. After we reported it, we haven't had any problems. I referred American Home Shield to my mom last week and she now has it. They're supposed to give me a Visa gift card for sharing about them with my mom. I've got to follow up on that.

    I had two claims. One for the furnace and one for the microwave. For the furnace, I had some issues. There were multiple visits done by the technician. But they came up with a reason saying that the problem was pre-existing. I even gave proof to them that the problem happened after one month of my contract. I was a bit disappointed because I tried to tell that it's nothing that happened before the contract was live, and they did not trust me. The problem can happen anytime. The equipment are all seven years old. It was a distress on me. But American Home Shield closed all my services, so I'm not sure what happened with that.

    The heater is working. But it's not being permanently fixed. They removed the temperature sensor. And they told me that the zoning board needs to be fixed. That's not fixed. And all my services are closed. So, if I have to do the service now, I have to create a new one, and I have to pay for it. But the problem is not resolved. I will keep the heater off for one month and raise the issue to AHS. But with the microwave, it was all good.

    My washing machine wasn't working. It would have to be stopped and started. It wouldn't rinse. It would shake. Our water bill was out through the roof. I did a claim and the rep told me that they would send out the ticket and someone would be in contact with me. But he didn't let me know that it was going to be another party so when they called, I was surprised. I didn't know who it was. I thought American Home Shield was gonna call me and set up the thing but they've outsourced it to another company closer to this here.

    When a guy came out to look at the washing machine, he told my wife what the parts were. He explained what was going on with the washer. The parts were on backorder and that took at least a month. The lady from the company called and let us know that it would be here before the end of the month and to hang tight. Techs then came right out and fixed the washing machine as soon as the parts came in.

    Over time, as the garage door goes up and down, it develops stress points at the middle part of it. It's the part of the door that has the least structural support. It starts to bow, and ours developed a bit of a crack in it. So what the contractor did was they came in with these joist cross sections, and they put those in. They fixed that cross beam up, and it was good to go. And it works like a dream. We might be able to stay off getting a new garage door for another three or four years.

    The garage door in itself is $2,000. And they said, “You just strengthen the areas where it tends to get weakest over time, and you extend the life of the garage door.” So, I learned something I didn't know. I was very happy with Neighborhood Garage Door. They came and did a great job. And it's quiet. It's not making these god awful noises. And it sounded like it was on its last leg every time it got to the halfway point. You didn't know if it would get stuck there. It needed it. And I'm glad they came out and were able to fix it.

    The only thing that I would complain about is where American Home Shield is listed in the Google search. I misplaced AHS' number. So I had to go to Google and it pulled up this other company, American Home Warranty, which is ahead of AHS in the listing. It could be confusing because of the similarity of names, and they have been bugging me ever since.

    A plumber came out and unclogged the clog. Everything was explained thoroughly. He told me if it clogs up again, that I would have to reach out to somebody else because it might have roots in it and they don't have the equipment to handle that. I wouldn't get American Home Shield's new packages because the price has gone up for the service calls as well with the overall price if I change and add anything to it. I'm just gonna keep what I have.

    I've had mixed experiences with AHS. I've had some cases where they've been very good about finding people and getting someone right out there for my needs. But when I had no hot water, it went almost two weeks. They had a plumber coming in. But he kept calling and making all these excuses why he couldn't come. I kept going back with them and said, “We got to find someone else.” They said, “You got to give him another chance. We're gonna make note of that.” Finally, after two weeks, they finally realized this really could go on long and they gave me the authorization to go on find my own. They said they were gonna put him on their “Do not call list” anymore. Things like that get you a little upset. But if I weigh out the bad with the good experiences with AHS, the good takes over.

    American Home Shield sent me somebody to fix my dryer. I got up to 30 days in case I'll have the same problem. Having American Home Shield is cheaper than having to fix it through the manufacturer or anybody else. I just have to pay a co-payment of $75. If it costs me more than that, they cover the rest.

    One of the breakers in our circuit box went out. The contractor had to replace one of the little switch breakers. They were super quick. They knew exactly what they were doing. They didn't spend more than five minutes here and I've never had a problem with anything they fixed. The only issue I had with American Home Shield was this past summer, it took us about two months to get our AC fixed. We're down in Texas, so it was triple degree weather and no air conditioning made for a very tough summer.

    The AHS website was pretty easy to use and I like that you can go ahead and prepay for the visit. For my recent claim, the contractor contacted me by phone and set up the appointment. They also let me know ahead of time that the tech was on his way. He was very professional. He explained everything and gave me a little tutorial. He also showed me what was important about the toilet and when I'm flushing it, etcetera. But at the moment, the handle is still sticking, which means the little stopper doesn't go down to stop the water, so the water keeps running. And because the toilet had been leaking, we had it shut off and we hadn't been using it. But there was no way to know that this was occurring. Other than that, I'd recommend AHS. They're very professional, easy to use, and they meet my needs.

    American Home Shield has been nice. There is the convenience that they set us up with different people. We've had issues with our heater and they sent someone out. When it wasn't turning on, True Master came. The gentleman was really nice and I had a nice interaction with him. He was very professional. He took care of the issue right away. We still had issues with the unit but his customer service was really good. For our dishwasher, there was one vendor they sent and it wasn't a good experience. My husband called about that and a different company was sent out and everything went fairly well.

    Recently, we had the air conditioner people come out and work on our system. They added some Freon to it, cleaned it and did a check for the winter. After that, our air conditioner stopped blowing. The outside unit quit working and wouldn't come on, so we had to call back and see if they would come back.

    Sometimes, submitting a claim with American Home Shield can be difficult ‘cause I have to stay on hold for a while, but after that, it's usually not too bad. The service provided by the contracting company is usually good too.

    The main issue I have is a lot of times when we call for a claim, the contractor that comes to us is from several hundred miles away, which makes no sense to me. We live in a town of 120,000 people, so we have contractors for everything here. Sometimes, we might have an HVAC person that comes from Austin, Texas, which is 300 miles away, or a plumber that comes from Abilene, which is 90 miles away from us. We have 30 HVAC and 50 plumbing companies in our town. We don't have a choice on the contractor that comes. We just have to deal with it, and that's the worst part.

    American Home Shield has been more than outstanding in everything they do. Knowing all the potential for riffraff out there, it boggles my mind how they were able to keep afloat. I know they do their math, and they calculate, so much outgoing per natural occurrence, projections for each person. I'm sure they're making money. My goal is to keep out of their hair. There are cases where it's tough financially, particularly in this time of our collective lives, at least for the working-class folks, to afford those things that go wrong. So, the feeling that there is someone with heavy pockets vetting for me, who I can then also compensate by virtue of your monthly payments, which I religiously make since.

    We have a potential plumbing issue with a pool and we realized it was because we were putting too much water in. We put in a service call to American Home Shield and the Individual they sent out said the water isn't from above ground. It is underground and we have to get a sonar in there to test where it's at, and then go from there. It was something that wasn't in the disclosure for home purchase, which should be because it's a big deal. We got the notification back from AHS that it wasn't covered. It may not be covered.     We have a garage issue and we're trying to debate on whether or not we do it ourselves, or if we call AHS to do it. It could be something small, but it could be something that they would cover. Because there's no point of paying a policy payment for something that they won't cover. The techs come out, look at it they say they don't do it and you have to pay the service charge for them to come out.

    Advanced Plumbing just came out this week for a toilet issue I had. Jorge and his teammate were professional, cordial, and did an excellent job. We received excellent service for that service call. But the two prior to that, we were very dissatisfied. We had to replace the pump thing out of our pocket. We had to replace the broken faucet out of our pocket. One thing cost us 2,300 out of our pocket, and the plumber, 160 out of our pocket. And we got a home warranty. We were at the point where we didn't even wanna call them anymore because my deductible is $100.

    A couple of the claims that I filed with American Home Shield were denied based on what the technician wrote up. For example, I had them come out because my faucet’s handles in my master bathroom would not turn the water on. And they wrote it up as being broken. So, American Home Shield determined that it was abused. But it wasn't broken. It just wouldn't turn on. I tried to elevate the issue to a supervisor, but I could never get a supervisor to call me. When you're trying to contact AHS with a problem, they should not deny you the ability to speak to a supervisor or someone that can help you with the problem.

    They were supposed to call me back. This was a call back. In the meantime, we needed to get the pump fixed because of our pool. And we pay for pool service on our warranty. I could have sent them pictures, but they were steadfast and said, “No. If the technician said it was abused, we're not gonna repair it.” At that point, I thought about discontinuing my service. But I know home warranty is hit-and-miss with different companies. I had the guy fix it. We had it replaced out of our pocket.

    I have Samsung double-sided refrigerators. I have one inside my house, and another in my garage because I have three little boys who drink nine gallons of milk a week. I have to keep milk cold on a regular basis. Unfortunately, the fridge was not doing its job and I had to throw away gallons of milk instead of letting my kids drink them because they were going bad. My refrigerator would be at a cold temperature, and through the middle of the night, it would warm itself up. The fan kept going out. So, we called American Home Shield multiple times to get it fixed.

    I had the contractor out to fix the fridge. It was fixed for a week, and it went out again. Called the contractor back, put in another claim. They just came to check on it one time and, again, they said, "It should work now." The freezer portion was cold as ice. But the refrigerator part would not stay cold enough. I couldn't keep a bottle of water cold. It stayed at room temperature. That was when we called out again, and they said that they would replace the entire refrigerator. It was either they didn't have the right pieces or maybe they didn't know exactly what piece was wrong as to why the refrigerator wouldn't stay cold. At first, it was a fan. So, the fan got fixed and it didn't make the loud noise anymore. But they did their job to the best of their abilities.

    The guys that delivered my refrigerator moved my old one out of the way for me, and put my new one in and made sure it was turned on and ready to go. They gave me all the answers and were extremely helpful. I now have a brand-new refrigerator that works and keeps my milk cold for my kids. I would recommend American Home Shield to all of my friends that are getting houses. The efficiency behind it is fine.

    We had called somebody for the washing machine last year. The electrician said that all the fuses in the fuse box in the outside were getting old or were not the right ones. We had things we had to do, and we worked around a problem. And recently, the microwave oven blew out. So, Lorenzo called Sears back to do the washing machine because that is who came out to do it before for American Home Shield. And he called somebody who did the microwave. Will turned the oven on a week later. And it started popping and sparking. Will unplugged it, disconnected the gas to it. They were doing stuff in the house and electricity kept going off on one side of the house, which is the main part of the house.

    They called somebody else to come look at that and the contractor fixed the active problem. They said call them back if something happens again. Because they couldn't do it with AHS unless there's a problem. They would leave an open case for a while, just in case. Like everything, there's always a problem somewhere. But I'd recommend AHS. It's worth it.

    At first, Sears came out and the guy would not work on the furnace so American Home Shield rescheduled somebody else to come out. The guy was very professional and fixed it expeditiously. But my daughter turned the furnace off maybe a few weeks after that, which was when we found out it wouldn't kick in. It was going, but it was blowing out cold air.     There were two issues with the same refrigerator. But I didn't know that it could be resolved at once.     There was a leak in one of the toilets and the plumber fixed that. And then in the other one, the flusher valve was not sealing and the plumber apparently put it in as though they'd finished the job, but they haven't. He said that he didn't have the flusher seal that I needed and that he would bring it back. But he never brought it back. So, I called yesterday and they called me back today to set up an appointment for him to bring it. It took them three and a half weeks to get out and now, it’s probably almost two weeks that it has not been completed so it's been a total of five and a half weeks. I also had an appliance repair and the techs did it as quickly as they possibly could. It was within a week.     I had a good experience with the key guy. The guy who came out for the garage did his job too. But this furnace claim turned out to be a bust. I wanted my furnace fixed about two months ago. I called somebody and he told me it was $85. I asked, "When I pay $85, can you fix it?" He said yes. Somebody came out here and said, “There's a little area of asbestos. You have to get that cleared.” I wasn't there but when I got home, I checked and didn't see anything. He said we needed to clear it, rip it all off so he could redo the whole furnace and put a brand new one in. He said to put a new one in was $3,000 which was not covered under American Home Shield. I told him to just fix the piece that was broken and not do everything. He said, “Okay. We’re gonna order the part.”

    I called a month later and they were still waiting on the part. I complained a lot the last time I called. It has been two months and I don't have heat. We finally found out the furnace is old. They couldn't find the part. AHS said they'd pay for the new part of the furnace. But the furnace guy was telling me there were codes and permits and I had to pay for. We called and spoke to the head person with AHS. He said, "Everything's covered. You're not doing the upgrades. You're just replacing the part.” I confirmed that I didn’t have to pay anything else. He said, “No, you don't have to pay nothing.”

    We put him on three-way with the guy from MS Services. The guy told him, "Based on his coverage, he's not covered for all that. He’s only covered for the parts and replacement." I thought we were waiting for a part this whole time but now they're telling me I gotta pay 3,00 to get it fixed. They’re saying there's a cash out I can do. I can buy the part and fix it later when I have the money or do it on my credit card. Where I live, it is very cold and it’s winter right now.

    We had a couple of contracts with American Home Shield. One of them is for a business property that we own. Recently, the freezer part of the fridge wasn’t freezing. We did a claim and someone came out in a couple of days. The vendor accidentally brought the wrong part so he had to come back another day. Once he brought the right part, it was a quick fix that took five minutes.

    I also had American Home Shield for my house. The reason I got it for my house was for the bigger things like the furnace or AC unit because those are pretty expensive things. I calculated the amount that I would spend over the course of the year for American Home Shield plus what a repair call would be and that's 100 bucks per call. It didn't make sense to have the warranty for any of those smaller appliances. The AC unit ended up going out this past summer. American Home Shield's whole pitch is, “If we can't fix it, we'll replace it.” That’s complete **.

    They sent out an AC guy to check it out and he said, “The blower motor is gone, but they don't make this unit anymore, so we can't find a replacement so we have to replace the whole thing.” I said, “Okay, great! I'm glad I have American Home Shield.” It was 110, 112 during the day so we had no AC and my wife was pregnant. American Home Shield said, “We didn't like the quote from that vendor so we're gonna send somebody else.” A second vendor came out and it was the same deal. American Home Shield then said they would take the value of the blower motor and deduct it from a new unit that I have to purchase. I cancelled the warranty instantly.

    I left things very poorly with them from my personal account and I ended up finding someone that could give me a deal on a new AC unit. I found someone that was able to replace everything, the unit in the attic, the compressor outside, and the plenum. This was for less than a third of what all of these big companies that American Home Shield deals with was going to charge.

    I've been paying American Home Shield for six different properties and I'm gonna cancel every last one of them probably towards the end of the month. I have seven but I sold one. I was going to add another one but I'm not. They make you pay an extra fee. My furnace broke and they said that they couldn’t fix it based on what the technician said. Everybody has the right to work but half of the people you talk to, you can't understand one word they say. The English is that bad. I have a couple of buddies that have the same problem. If AHS is going to outsource work, that's fine. Everybody deserves to make money and I get it. But at least make sure they can speak English if you're in the English region. And it seems like whenever they send a technician out, it's the worst of the worst. If you look at the reviews, they're always horrible people. I don't know if that's a way of saving money, but they're the reject of the litter.

    I called in a claim for my heater and the first guy who came out, Dylan, was polite to my five-year-old grandson. I've had people come in and fix things in my house who were really gruff and mean to my five-year-old grandson though he tries to be friendly to everybody. The second guy, Trevor, was also really nice. They were both efficient and they got things taken care of.My heater is really old and there was a piece in it that kept vibrating loose. So, the tech replaced that and made sure that it wasn't going to come loose again. And it fixed my heater. I would tell others to get AHS.     The washer and the dryer were not working and I contacted American Home Shield to send somebody out. But it was maybe even six months before they did. The contractor assessed the problem and ordered equipment, but there were some communications, and they never came out and repaired it. When I called them about it, they said that the time had elapsed and I would have to do another claim. At that time, it was just the washing machine that was acting up. So, we called AHS again. They were a lot more efficient the second time and sent somebody out. For the first time using their company, this was the first time I was satisfied with what they did. Every other complaint that I've ever made or filed or anything, they didn't fix the problem. But this time, they did.

    This last contractor was amazing and good. He took the washer and brought it right back the next day and it was fully functioning. For the first time, the washer was fixed. When the dryer went out, I couldn't use the equipment at all. So, it all worked out well for that incident. My experience with AHS overall has been negative. I'm kicking myself for renewing it. AHS itself seems good and they've been helpful but the contractors that they're working with don't want to do the work. They'll come in and assess, and then they would say that I got to call and make another claim because they’ve done enough work for what this claim was for. I'm too busy to deal with them. If AHS can get good contractors, it would make a difference.

    We didn't use our home warranty the first year but we decided to renew it. We ended up using it for a dishwasher repair. We were happy with the service then so we decided to stay on with it. We bought another house and we went ahead and got the home warranty because you never know what's gonna happen with a different house. We've always had really good service and really good luck with the policy so we always maintained it.

    About a month ago, our furnace stopped heating. We're going into the coldest part of the year and since we have American Home Shield, maybe they could have the furnace looked at. A tech came out and diagnosed that it was some kind of sensor in the back of the unit. After a little bit, he got it the furnace working great again.

    American Home Shield is great. The process is super easy. I just go online, submit the claim, make my payment, and they dispatch somebody. The only thing is if I could have options for preferential repair people - if there's a way of seeing that there are other people that can come in faster, people that are more local, or people that I've worked with in the past. Service-wise, there are people that have reputations around the area. That might be nice.

    There's only so much I can do. I could fix a few things, but when it comes to some major issues, appliances, I don't have the time to be out there looking for someone, guessing who's going to do the job right and wrong. So having American Home Shield, I go to their website, put in a request for service based on what I need. And it's just sit back and they do their thing. The gentleman has been out before. I had an issue last year and he had come out and went right to work. Everything’s so far, so good. He helped me out a great deal.

    AHS gives you a peace of mind. Something goes down. Your refrigerator. Say a major appliance was down. What am I going to do? I'm going to go on Google and start looking for contractors in the area, and leave messages and whatnot? It's ridiculous. So just get ahold of the American Home, send them a request, and they forward the information to the contractor as well as their business phone. So, if I had to reach out to them prior to an email, it's there. It alleviates a monster headache.

    I've had a gentleman here in my community, and I happened to see an appliance outside waiting for garbage removal because I drive by his house, and I happened to see him and we were talking about it. And I said, “What happened?” He told me the story. I said, “Who came out and did the job?” Gave me the guy's name. I said, “You should have somebody like American Home Shield.” He said, “My wife wanted to do it. I never pursued it. And shame on me.” I'm in a community of many homes, and I do refer.     Very rarely are the things denied with American Home Shield. Rightly so, they're fixed or replaced. My dryer belt broke and the contract communication was fantastic. It didn't take 15 minutes and Bay to Bay Appliance Repair, the contractor, had the belt in stock. Just in case they didn't, I had purchased one from Amazon for eight bucks. So, I had it here. Bay to Bay had to diagnose what was wrong and then, they had to check approval with American Home Shield so sometimes that process can take quite a while. I needed my dryer fixed, which was why I purchased the belt but they used their own.

    The experience with Bay to Bay was good. I had an electrician out here before that because my well pump kept blowing a major circuit breaker on the outside of the house and I assumed it was electrical. I came to find out that the well pump had gone bad, which was what was blowing the circuit breaker. But I had to pay $75 to have the electrician come out and the well was covered under my insurance. Neither of those was fair because it wasn't electrical especially the well pump. It was under warranty and less than six months old. I called about it. Typically, AHS would say they would reimburse it. But in this one, the rep would have to check. And I don't remember seeing it on my checking account that I got reimbursed for that. Still, American Home Shield is very good. It has gotten very expensive though.

The tech was good though the claim took a week. But I understood because they had to get the part.     American Home Shield helps me cover the big cost that I can't come up with at once. The contractor that came recently, John Hudsons, was great. It was less than a week from the time that I got the claim put in and the guy showed up and fixed it. However, I had a dishwasher issue and it took five weeks for American Home Shield to replace it. The dishwasher guy was good but the plumbing company, Plumb Genius, came three times. It took a couple of weeks to get a person here. Then the guy came three times, filled the sink and said, "It drains slow." I said, "Yeah, that's why I called." It was the dishwasher guy that said there was a clog in the main drain and that had to be fixed before they put a new dishwasher in because it would back it up into the dishwasher again. I called the Plumb Genius people back. They came back and messed with the drain and said it was draining slowly. The whole holidays, we had no sink.

    I had to pay them a couple $100 because they had to go from the roof into the pipe to clean out the clog that was in the main pipe. They didn't wanna take a credit card, so I wrote a check. They took a picture of the check while I was there and said that was to verify that the worker guy got it and the company would have it. In the middle of December and before the end of the year, there was a $59 fraud charge on my bank account for a dating service that I've never signed up for. Come to find out, they had taken that check without changing the check on the routing number. They created a fraudulent check and set up an account in my name to auto-monthly withdraw to take that out.

    I went back and told the company, "I got somebody in your company that created a fraudulent electronic check using the check I gave them to pay for you." The lady said, "Hold on. Let me get my manager." Then she went back and said, "We still have the check here." I asked, "Why do you have the check here? It's been a month ago. You need to cash that check immediately." She said, "you're gonna have to write another check." I said, "No, you need to cash it." When I called the fraudulent company, the guy said "You need to give me all your information." I said, "You already have my information."

    I told American Home Shield there had been a fraud on my account using Plumb Genius. Evidently, nothing happened because they assigned them to me again this year when I had a plumbing issue. I said, "I'm not doing business with them. They messed up." Everything was on that account. I shut the account down and it took me months to go through all my different companies that I had auto-drafts from, to recontact them and change account. It was a nightmare.

    I had an experience in my last home a year ago and after waiting a month for the contractor to fix my washer, I just went about my business with a broken washer. Then seven months later, American Home Shield contacted me and said they couldn't find the parts so they’re gonna pay for a washer. They gave me $700 towards buying a new washer, which is great but it took seven months to resolve it.

    My recent situation was a hot water heater went out and completely should be covered, and AHS says they are. I've sent them receipts that I received from the people that installed it and they keep sending back to me and saying it is not an adequate receipt. So, they won't reimburse me for the $1,900 I spent on my hot water heater until I get a different receipt for them. I've sent them everything that I was given and the plumber is working with me on creating something for them. It's very shady. If I finally get a check for my hot water heater, I'll be happy but I'm having to jump through hoops. I’m the one who had to find somebody to do the work too. I’ve been a little bit leery because there's nobody I can call and talk to on what they don't like about the receipt.

    I had some electrical work done. I got a call from the contractor on the day I submitted a claim but they didn't get out until Monday. That was mainly because on Friday I wasn't home. The tech that came was very knowledgeable. The things that I was concerned about were repaired. But there were some additional things that were found while he was here. He's coming back today to finish up those things.

    American Home Shield's customer representatives have been pretty good. But there was one time that they had a really poor online presence because you couldn't get online. There were some issues with their online feature that they have rectified. That was in the beginning when I started using them. Other than that, it's a lot easier now to get online with them. I'm glad they got it straightened out.

    I would recommend American Home Shield to a friend. My husband passed away a couple of years ago. If you don't have someone in the house that does work like this, this home warranty is a good security blanket, which is a big thing for me. If I have any problem with any of the major equipment that's in the house, I have something that covers it. It's not gonna cost me an arm and a leg unless I have to replace something.

    We had some leaks. When the first plumber came out, he rodded it from the main line, and that didn't work. So, I asked for a second opinion. The tech from the second company that came out rodded it through the toilet, and that seemed to do the trick. He was very knowledgeable. He explained what they were doing, and what would cause the issue. He was knowledgeable about it. Doing the claim to American Home Shield was fairly easy. I just go online and do it, and then they'll send me confirmation of who's going to come out.     There was a leak in the refrigerator and it wasn't cooling adequately. And the icemaker wasn't functioning correctly. I was pleasantly surprised that the American Home Shield website functioned as correctly and as quickly when I made the claim. I got a call back quickly too and the contractor was very good. The tech diagnosed the issue and found another issue with it, and fixed that. He did a great job. He said he was gonna look and see if he had the parts on his truck, which he didn't. But he was able to fix it without replacing it. The refrigerator is functioning as it was manufactured.

    American Home Shield had a reasonable amount of cap on their appliances. I dropped my other home warranty because they didn't cover a large enough amount of money to replace if there's a major malfunction and an appliance needs to be replaced. It was a $1,000 cap. My Thermador double oven is an $18,000 oven today and my refrigerator is probably $4,000 today. So, the $1,000 that my prior home warranty company covers were insufficient. AHS covers up to 6,000 though that doesn't even cover my home. And even though my cost for the AHS warranty is three times as much as the other one, it was important to have that insurance policy, to cover a catastrophe where an oven or refrigerator needs to be replaced.

    I've never ever had a problem with American Home Shield getting somebody out here, assessing the problem and getting the situation taken care of. I told a girlfriend of mine about them and how I've never had any problems with them. Every now and again, there's a glitch here and there, but that's not American Home Shield's fault. They have to work with other contractors to get the job done. Recently, my heating system was making a lot of loud noise and it wasn't blowing. I put a claim in and a technician came out fairly quickly. The contractor didn't receive the information from American Home Shield right away, but they got right back to me when I called and sent somebody out. The technician assessed everything then put in the claim. The claim was approved fast. Now I'm on the schedule to get the repair done.

    However, I had a problem with my refrigerator, and when I first called in the claim, I told them that my icemaker was part of what my problem was. The person that I talked to went through and took pictures. They came out, and I had some issues with the little side rails on the refrigerator. The side rails weren't under contract. But the icemaker was. When I called back, they sent somebody else out because the person from GE who came in the beginning didn't put a claim in for the parts. The second person took care of everything.

    I had an annual checkup, and then the compressor wasn't working on the AC unit. The tech fixed the thing and that was taken care of. He did a great job. It's working again. Thank God, it was something minor. I'm hoping that nothing else happens. Because I'm a little concerned. The tech that came out here said our unit’s really old. If we have to replace the coolant, AHS will only cover $10 per pound. The unit takes eight pounds and it's $100 per pound. And that’s a lot of money for me to cover the pounds when AHS is getting paid for the warranty.

    My microwave has had the similar problem over the years and it keeps getting fixed. American Home Shield won't replace the microwave for some reason. Recently, we filed a claim for our smoke detectors. Unfortunately, my husband didn't call back within the 30 days. It's still doing the same thing. It cannot be fixed. We can't seem to get to the bottom of it. If you have to call, it's a long wait time to get someone on the phone especially on the weekends. Online is the quickest way get the service. If I have a problem with my kitchen sink, my bathroom sink, and my tub, all of those are different service fees. A technician will come out and say they're all different service calls. But I made one call. I don't think the people that are booking the call make that clear that you pay $100 per issue.

    My preferred way of paying which American Home Shield no longer uses is that we pay after their contractor comes out. Now, what they do is they take out the service fee upfront. It may take a couple days before we hear back from the technician to schedule to come out. I don't like that. I prefer them to be paid once they do the service. It could be same day, but not before. One time I had a bad experience with a technician. But other than that, over the years, everyone that's come out has been cordial. I like the fact that if your appliance has to be replaced, they give you the option to choose one for no cost and it tells you what the additional costs are if you get a higher grade of appliance.

    There was a leak underneath the sink and the repair people found out that the pipes were loose. The repair guy thoroughly went through every pipe to make sure they are all tight. I like having so many different things covered by American Home Shield but we've had a few things that were denied, which was upsetting. Our hot water heater went out and AHS said that it wasn't covered, which I didn't appreciate because in the contract, it says it was. So, we ended up having to spend our own money to replace our hot water heater. Also, the price has gone up every year. But it is what it is. We've had a couple of friends that were with AHS and they didn't think they were being treated correctly. So they left AHS and went with other companies.

    The first thing I called American Home Shield out for was my dryer because it was making a squealing noise and they sent the contractor out. But I had to wait three days. Then, when the guy came, he was here for 10 minutes and then, he left. He said that AHS was going to let me know what they were gonna do. I waited and finally got a notification that the ticket was closed. I called AHS and asked why the ticket was closed. The guy didn't ever do anything with the dryer and the rep said that he didn't find anything. So I asked if what she’s telling me was that the noise coming from the dryer was nothing and the tech couldn’t figure out what to do about it. She said it could be a number of things. I told her that it was still making that noise. So, what could be wrong with the dryer was never fixed. I asked if I have to wait till it stops working for them to come and fix it. And I was told, “Yeah, pretty much," and that was frustrating.

    But the garbage disposal situation was quick and perfectly works now. The garbage disposal wasn't working so, the tech had to come out and figure out why. He was able to fix it and was in and out in less than 30 minutes. It turned out something had broken and jammed the blades, so he was able to clear it. When I deal with AHS on the phone, the reps are polite and quick when they respond. The process of putting in a ticket is simple too through the website. So overall, it's not difficult to get it done good. Also, I'm appreciative of the $75 service call as opposed to having someone charge me a whole lot more to just come out and try and see what's going on first. But the wait time sucks sometimes because it takes AHS two or three days. They gotta find a contractor, book them and get them out here.

    I'm 75% happy, but it's mainly due to American Home Shield's contractors. Some of them have been good. Some of them have been okay. I had a claim on my air conditioner. Capacitor went out. But they fixed that too. It was during summer. It took them a week and a half to get out, so I had no air conditioner for eight days. I notice that some contractors are more on stuff. I had a heater here in my home, just cleaning. A preseason, they call it. It was just a preventative maintenance type thing. That guy took two and a half weeks to get out here. If my heater was not working, I'd have been all over AHS to get somebody efficient. But my heater was working.

    The computer board was out in my refrigerator. The claim was submitted through AHS. And this guy got right on it. Amazing, smart. Better than the last guy last July. The guy didn't diagnose it then. Didn't fix anything. Stayed plugged up. The refrigerator froze over. I didn't realize that in here two weekends ago. The refrigerator got hot again on the top. Lived out of an ice chest for four days. And Appliance Doctor was good. The tech came out here, diagnosed the problem, ordered the part. It came in the next day, late Friday night. And he came out Saturday first thing in the morning and fixed it. It’s an outstanding job.

    I had American Home Shield on a past home that I owned and they would offer you a great rate the first time around. But the moment you try to renew with them the second year, the prices go up almost a full 100%. I have the warranty again this time and I'm hoping that that does not happen again. Other than that everything is going great with my first year in my earlier property as well as my first year in this property.

    I had to use the service and my issue got resolved. It was satisfactory. This was for a plumbing issue. I had a couple of leaks in the house and American Home Shield was able to connect me to a local contractor, All American Plumbing and Rooter Services, who had about three days of wait time. When they were finally able to make it, they were able to fix the issue. Everything is doing well. American Home Shield has good vendors. They work with experienced folks, unlike some warranty companies that generally have only the newer and less experienced ones.

    We have two furnaces, one in the basement had quit working and it was cutting off. The problem with modern day gas furnaces is it got so many safety features. And that's always what fails. It's not the basic heating unit, which is easily fixable. It's all these extra safety features and tubes. So when that gets out of whack, they're troublesome.

    I submitted the claim with American Home Shield on a Sunday and the contractor arrived on Tuesday. They were Superb. I've had them work on our system years ago. The techs are concerned and want to do what's good for the customer. The tech came out twice. He went and got parts and came back, but the problem was still there. So he got with his service desk. When I called in the next morning, she was on the phone working out what to do. And they sent a service tech with 10 additional years of experience. He came out Thursday and worked on their system. And it's an odd deal. He would work on it and stand there, watch it for a while, and it would work. He would sit in the truck for a few minutes and the furnace would cut off. So, he kept going in and out. He was here a good two hours. He got it working, but it needs one more additional part to fully stabilize the unit.

    AHS has improved over the years. I do this stuff online, which I'm cool with. And it gets it done quicker and easier. So, they're moving in the right direction. They had a big price increase this past year. But I understand, with inflation and all the cost of parts and everything going up, you got to protect your business. So, this still works out as a good investment for me.

    I put a report in, and American Home Shield dispatched a technician out for an inspection. His name was Vincent, and that was the text message name that I had. My wife was there during the inspection and I showed up towards the end. Vincent sent me a picture of his findings, which was a giant crack going through the entire unit. He shut the unit off due to his findings and said that we cannot turn it back on, then the company came back out and replaced the unit.

    I loved my experience, and I put a review in afterwards. As far as the technicians and with AHS, I've been overjoyed with their service. I have had a couple of issues over the few years that I've had the home warranty service, and AHS has been phenomenal in their communication. The contractor was great, and customer service was super helpful through the entire process. Anytime I go through something major like this, it requires a lot of work in putting an order and coordinating deliveries and installation. I've had a lot of experience with that. So there's a lot of things that can happen, but the whole process was very smooth. Even when it came to the installation of the unit, there was a weird turn to get down to the basement and it was difficult to make the stuff happen, but these guys were really gracious. They cleaned up after themselves too. Overall, I was very satisfied.

    When it comes to protecting all of these major expenses that you have as a homeowner, it should absolutely be a no-brainer to get American Home Shield. It's so easy, from submitting a claim to communicating with people throughout the process and just watching the savings versus talking to neighbors having to fork over the entire cost of these big repairs.

    My dryer wasn't heating up and the tech came out in about a week. He looked at it, informed me what was wrong and came back. He gave me some tips on what to do to keep it going. He was very professional and courteous. I’ve had a great experience with American Home Shield. I've been with them since I bought my house in '97. The customer service representative has been very helpful. Even with things that I'm not sure about, I can call and ask if I am covered for it.     A gentleman came, looked at the fridge and said he could not find a problem. I said, "The only other thing I could think of is that maybe it's the dishwasher. I looked over on the side of it, and it's dry, but there was water." He asked, "Did you pull this part off underneath?" I told him I didn't know how to do that. He pulled that off and told me that was exactly where the water was coming from.

    What happened was I had a garbage disposal that went bad, and I had a recent homeowner's insurance claim because it leaked and ruined the floor. They had just replaced the floor with tile. The contractor that came in to do this work didn't tighten up the hose of the dishwasher well enough. The guy American Home Shield sent was awesome. He said, "It's a simple.     One of my properties had electrical issues. One outlet started flickering and the other would shut off after a few seconds. I got a call the next day and the tech was out a couple of days later. He fixed the problem really quickly. But the premium has doubled on one of my properties. My plan is to compare other companies and look for a new warranty ‘cause it doesn't make sense to pay twice as much for the same service. I am really pissed off. Why am I paying double for something that hasn't changed?

    What really bothers me is that they're all about new people who are coming in for the first time, but they don't care about the existing customers. I'm more than happy to go look someplace else and find better deals but that’s just a waste of my time. It's better for them to work with existing customers and offer these deals to new customers.

    The top of our stove went out. Everything went out. I thought it was because of a fuse. But when I went to check the fuse box out, nothing was out. I paid $100 for the technician to come out. He got here and all he found out was that I didn't push the plugin that was next to the stove. It took me all day to wait for him, though. They said between 8:00 and 5:00, and he walked in the door two minutes before 5:00. But I'm satisfied with AHS.

    The washer went out so I called American Home Shield and they sent a technician out a few days later. The young man stayed here a long time. He was going through diagnostics on the washer. But, he was able to determine that the bearings went out. The young man said that it's more costly to fix it than it is to replace it. When he left, he said there was a good chance that American Home Shield will look at the case and determine if they're willing to replace it. The next day, I got an email from them saying that they were going to replace it. I have the washer here now. I'm pleased with everything about AHS. But the biggest frustration is they'll assign somebody almost immediately. But then I don't get a callback. I'm always forced to have to call and I'm the one that's got to make sure that they're coming out.

    The contractor had to put a whole bunch of replacement parts 'cause the freezer worked, but the refrigerator did not work. For three weeks, we had to put a fan in our refrigerator till the parts got in. We're talking about $40 worth of batteries. It's the third time we've had to have it for the same problem. The first time, the GE rep came in and said that it was a programming problem. He did that. Two months later, we had the same problem. We couldn’t get a GE repair guy in. We only could get somebody that has worked on GEs ‘cause the GE guy could not come for three weeks, and we were leaving for Europe.

    I ended up going out, ‘cause the person they were going to send from the warranty place happened to be the same person that did my dryer, and it took three weeks for him to get my dryer parts. I went to what I thought was a GE person and he ended up selling a $600 part for it. We had to pay for it because we went out of the American Home Shield. It went down again a month later, and it ended up being the fan. Five different parts were delivered, but they were all late. We didn't get them until the end of November. American Home Shield needs to get better people to work on things.

    The company that AHS assigned me to was Home Choice but Home Choice turned around and sent it to another company called Blu Plumbing. This is a claim for the water heater and the guy from Blu Plumbing didn't do the job right. He didn't put it into code and he was supposed to put a pressure tank on it but he didn't do that. Also, it's still leaking on the floor and I can't get them to fix the problem. They sent out another guy and he was here for five minutes. He told us that everything was fine and not to touch the temperature knob that it's per code. Then he walked away while I was trying to ask him questions. I was thinking about calling the Better Business Bureau at this point because I'm quite upset because this is a very unsafe system that they put in our house.

    I tried calling and they keep saying that their supervisor, Vicki, would call me back and he didn't call me back. So I got a very nice person at American Home Shield who was just answering the phones, but she sent an email to the supervisor. He then called me back, left me a message that he was working with Home Choice, and that he would call me back on the 20th, but he never did. I tried to get ahold of him yesterday several times but they wouldn't give me a supervisor number or the corporate office. All they can do is send emails.

    We are concerned because we have a leaking gas water heater here and we're not getting any timely response in this. Before this incident, the techs that AHS sent out always fixed my products, even when we had to call back. We had a claim for our pool heater and we had to call the techs back within 30 days because something went bad again on it. There seems to be a device on our pool heater that goes out because we don't run it all the time. AHS has also been very professional and they take care of the problem.

    But this situation with the dryer got out of hand. It's been over a month now and I still can't get anybody out here. I told them that this plumbing company that they're sending is not giving good customer service and AHS should not have these people go out to other people's houses. They're not doing the job right and I don't want anybody to have to deal with what I'm dealing with. There are phone numbers, but I've left five messages and nobody calls me back on either one of these companies. All they do is send you texts and they don't even answer the questions.

    Even the tech who was out here said that he couldn't even get ahold of the company. We had a problem because when he first came to install the dryer, he was taking all the copper piping off and we didn't understand what was going on or why he had to do what he did. And he even used old parts on the new water heater, which was very unusual. When I called American Home Shield, I told them the situation and they sent a second company out to give me a second opinion about what happened. And that was with Hers & His Plumbing.

    They came out here and they said that it was a rigged job. Per code in this subdivision, everybody in my subdivision has a pressure tank on the water heater. But when Blu Plumbing came out, they said we didn't need one. However, the second company said that all the installer had to do was lift up and look at our waterline and he would have known right there and then that we needed a pressure tank on there to prevent any kind of explosion. Because it's a gas heater.

    So the second company put the recommendation in and I told American Home Shield that I didn't want Blu Plumbing coming out here. They need to figure out the problem and send the second company out to fix it. But they're trying to send Blu Plumbing again to try to fix the problem because they want us to pay for labor again. So this is going back and forth. I've called five times within the last week and a half and nobody's doing anything. They don't seem to think it's a priority that I have something hooked up in my garage that's still leaking and is not properly up to code.

    We had a claim for our heating system. David with AIRMAX was the first one who came in. He's the owner of the company. Someone named Jordan also came. They were here a few days ago. Each did a great job. They knew what they were doing and they worked well while they were here for a couple of days. The heating system worked for three full days then whatever they fixed stopped working. I'm going to call today to see if we can request them to come back again. There's gotta be a switch or something that clicks off after a while. We looked at the system itself upstairs and there was just cold air blowing.     One year, my washer tore up and it couldn't be fixed. I had to pay half of the new washer and AHS paid half of it. And last year, my air conditioner tore up in the hottest part of the summer and it took American Home Shield a month to get the part. It was not a good year with them. A few years back, a tech put the wrong thermostat on the wall to control the unit. It worked but it was for electricity. Our air is electric and our heating is gas, and we just got the right one this year. Just recently, we got up one morning and the unit wouldn't come on, or we thought it wouldn't come on. The man came out here and looked it over and went outside. He said that since we got this thermostat on the wall, it’s slower in turning on to keep it from having any real problems, like blowing up. It heats up before it turns on. He replaced the thermostat and the other one just came on right away. It works good now.

    We were getting an error code on the washing machine. AHS gave me a window of 8:00 to 5:00 on the day the contractor was coming. I would like that to be shorter than a whole day. They came in the morning and the tech was great. He walked me through the repair. He took off the front of the washing machine and cleaned out the drain which was clogged with little socks that kept getting in there. He gave a way to alleviate that which is to check the rim each time. I've been pleased with AHS. It's protection for all these appliances that always seem to go haywire at some point. So it's worth it. If your item is not fixable, it gets replaced and you're gonna come out ahead either way.

    A lot of times, it's very difficult to understand when we call in. And I know that American Home Shield has a lot of foreign workers. There are two claims open. The oven just kept beeping and turning on by itself. The other one, the dishwasher door was broken a week ago, but I didn't think that AHS would fix it. It was the weight in the door broke, so the door just falls. I happened to mention it while the guy was here for the oven, and he said, “That should be something that's covered.” So, I went ahead and made a second claim on the dishwasher, which is something minor. The oven is disconnected right now because the tech said the two parts are discontinued. I liked him. I've had a very bad experience with a plumber that AHS sent out two years ago. So, I was very happy with him.

    I'm old and can't do all the doggone stuff myself anymore. I did a little bit of research and I got some good results from reviews for American Home Shield so I went with them. Whenever I had a claim, I called the 800 number and I've had success doing that. I did one recently for a microwave issue. I needed someone to come out within an hour but they couldn't do that. It was the day before Thanksgiving so I knew that they wouldn't be there the next day. But they came on Saturday. They were very efficient with that. +I liked the guys I used, Silver Star. The technician was very professional and he did a good job. Unfortunately, I had to order a part and it didn't come for a couple more days. On the whole, I've had a very good experience with American Home Shield and I'd recommend them to anyone at any time.

    I own two homes, and I have two different policies, but I don't like much of anything about American Home Shield. There are so many hidden clauses in their agreement that one needs to be an attorney to understand their agreement. At one house, I had to have a water heater replaced. Take one out, put one in, and it wound up costing me $1,000 for something that was only supposed to be a $100 service call.

    The last plumber that was out to the other house did a great job, but the company American Home Shield sent me to that same address for the washing machine was horrible. They've been out four times on the same problem. The washing machine would not fill the water properly, and they said they were ordering parts. They installed the parts and it still didn't work. We called them again and they came back. "Well, we need a different part." They ordered another part, and it was the same problem. The company never runs a test, and every time they leave, the machine wouldn't work. The last time they came, they said it doesn't show any malfunctions. However, we can't get the machine to run through a complete cycle when they're not standing there, when clothes are in the machine. We have to have a washing machine at that house. We got an eight-year-old child. I finally gave up and bought a new washing machine.

    I can keep going through a history of problems that I've had with American Home Shield. Every time, their contractors find a way in the loopholes in the American Home Shield agreement that makes the homeowner pay more money. I was talking to a young lady in my office who has a different company. She calls them and they let her hire a person and reimburse her. No questions asked. With American Home Shield, everything's got to go through them. We got to wait for them to ship the parts. The next chance I'd get, I'm going to go away from American Home Shield 'cause I'm being ripped off.

    American Home Shield's website is really easy to navigate and everything I need is right there on the home screen. It's also really easy to talk to somebody if I need to, because they have all their contact information. There's a section where I can talk to a live person as well, so it makes it really easy to get any type of information I need. When I submit a claim, I get a text and an email, and it gives me the name of who's coming and what company they're from. Typically, it gives me a picture, if available, of whoever's coming out. They let me know a rough time estimate of when the service person is coming, then when they're sent out, it gives me an option to track the progress and the location of the person coming.

    I recently had somebody come out and look at some electrical work in my house. The outlets to the outside of the house were not working, and then three of the outlets in the upper bedroom were not working as well. The electrician was able to look at one of them. He looked at the outlets in the upper room, and somehow the lights outside were connected. The other two outlets that didn't work have a cut in the wall somewhere, so he wasn't able to repair that, but he did everything else. The electrician was a super great guy. I had a couple of questions, and he was very knowledgeable and really relatable. The plumber that I had come out before that was a super nice guy as well. We had somebody come out before that wasn't through Home Shield, and he told us all this stuff that needed to be done.

    When the guy from Home Shield came out, he explained to us why what the guy told us before wasn't necessarily true, and an easier and cheaper way that we could do it, that worked a lot better. Overall, I've been really pleased with the credibility of the people that have come out and the work that they do, and I would definitely recommend American Home Shield to anybody that asked me. We had a lot of different options going into it, and I'm super glad that this is the home warranty company that we chose, because I've had the greatest experience with them out of any companies that I've worked with.

    I'll recommend AHS to friends because they're very helpful and they have a smooth process. I had a person come over and they replaced the parts on my stove. Everything was done quickly. The stove is working perfectly now. They told me Whirlpool was gonna replace my washing machine which was also part of that service order. They said somebody should be getting in contact with me, but I haven't heard from anybody.

    I had been noticing that the house wasn't getting heated even though the furnace was showing that it was on. I have a Nest thermostat so I can look at it. The house was fine for a little bit. And then it seemed to be coming on intermittently. And then with the Nest, I could turn the fan on. It seemed more and more that I was having to do that manually. It really just crept up a little while ago because I hadn't really been using much heat until recently.

    The service company contacted me quickly, which I was quite impressed with. I know how busy these guys can get when it's really cold or really hot. I told them I was not a dire emergency but I would like for them to come out as soon as they reasonably can. The guy was was appreciative of that and he would get out there as soon as he could. He was pretty timely and came out within three or four days after we had talked. He diagnosed the situation and told me what seemed to be happening. There's a trigger that the fan comes on. When you ask for heat, the fan doesn't come on until the system warms up so it's not blowing cold air.

    The tech came back a little while later after that but ended up having the wrong part. He had to come back a second time with the corrected part. He needed a longer piece. He came back earlier this week and fixed the issue. There has been no problem since he came back and fixed it. Everything about the whole experience was terrific, from American Home Shield to the contractor. The contractor was responsive, explained the situation to me, and didn't take up too much of my time other than my wanting to stand out there to learn about what was going on. American Home Shield provides good coverage. So far, we're really satisfied. I have a rental house and I bought the home warranty for that property too. That has mostly newer appliances but you never know what's gonna happen.

    Contractors come. They fix. And that's it. We've had very few debates regarding the ability to fix things. So over the years, American Home Shield has done well. We've replaced all of our pool equipment in our previous house for a considerable amount of money. AHS took care of it. We've had a couple of issues over the many years we've been with them, and they were companies that subsequently were dropped from their service, because they weren't living up to what AHS promised as far as their service.     We had a sink that was leaking. The top busted, and it wouldn't completely turn off. We had to wait almost five days for Summit Plumbing to come out. When guy came out, he took a look at it and then he replaced a part. It was working that day, but unfortunately, there was a small leak. It was very hard to detect, and we didn't even notice it for several days. So I got back with Home Shield and they sent them back out. They replaced the entire faucet, and I was happy with that.     I bought this house last December 21st and the previous owner said they got me a year of AHS. As soon as I tried to use it though, they said that my account was never activated. There was an issue with the check. But that all got resolved and having used it, it’s nice. I had a dishwasher claim. Almost every part on it went out according to the guys who came out and looked at it. The first guy who came out inspected it, made an assumption, and ordered a part. Turns out that didn't fix the issue. Another guy came out and he actually got in there and inspected things. He found out that a lot of things were wrong. That guy did a good job from what I can tell.

    We got a brand new dishwasher and it looks great. I got it a little earlier than the second schedule, which was nice. But I discovered that there are parts that are required that are not included with the dishwasher. That was kind of crappy. I need a specific fitting to be able to plug the water into it and I need a power cable for it. It doesn't come with a power cable. And the power cable requires a strain relief grommet. That usually comes in a kit you can buy. But it's weird that they're required for the dishwasher, but they don't come with it. Other than that, I've had no problems with American Home Shield. They've been great.

    I submitted a clam for my heating unit outside and American Home Shield had a company we were dealing with that was awful. But I was very happy with what AHS did later on. Normally, before winter and before summer, they always come and do a check, which is wonderful. I appreciate that so much. When Advance came, they said that my unit had mold. When I called AHS, they said they cannot do mold. So we called Advance and told them that.

    Advance charged me $1,200 to clean the mold. But after they cleaned the mold, it was not cool yet. I like for it to be cool before I put my heat on. So when I put the heat on about three weeks ago, it started shaking and making a lot of noise. So I called Advance and told them that. Advance told me to call AHS and I did. They sent another company, Climate Control, and they were wonderful. We were out of heat going three weeks and AHS repaired the motor through Climate Control. So, I don't want Advance coming here anymore. I love American Home Shield. When you call them, the customer service is great. They talk to you nicely, listen to your complaints and do what they have to do. I recommend them to people and I want to congratulate them for their services for over 15 years. The only thing I want AHS to do is to make sure that the companies they send are good ones.

    American Home Shield’s website was standard but it’s a little complicated in terms of where I needed to go to actually put the claim in. But once I got there, I was fine. The guy who came out for my stove took great care about how he entered my home and I appreciated that he wore his booties and a mask. That was good professionalism on his part. And he was on point in the way that he spoke to me. First, he showed me what was going on. He told me what the problem was, what needed to be fixed and how it needed to be fixed. He had to get the part and then, he told me that he would either be able to come back that day or some other time. But he would call and let me know. And he did.     American Home Shield took standard insulation costs, about $1500 and called them modifications to avoid paying installation. AHS only is paying $255 towards a finance installation. Avoid them unless you enjoy a corrupt company that won’t pay per the contract

    AHS sent a contractor out the same day for my refrigerator. The tech found what the problem was and had a quick solution to it. He couldn't resolve it that day because they had to replace it. He sent the paperwork and AHS signed off on it. In 30 minutes, they had sent me an email telling me to pick out a refrigerator or that I could go buy my own and use a cash out card. I have received a new refrigerator since then and AHS paid for it. The warranty saves me money. If something goes down in my house, I don't have to come out of pocket. The only thing I have to pay was the deductible.

    American Home Shield's lack of communication and transparency is definitely misleading as far as when you sign up for the service compared to what items can be approved based on the contract. There's a lot of miscommunications and confusion on the contract because there are certain parts that they'll say, "We cover things," but then when you look under certain things, it's kind of hidden in a way.

    AHS is a reassuring company because you know that they're not ripping you off and things are gonna get fixed. If I call the regular plumber, he might say it's something major. Whereas AHS is not going to do that because they wanna save as much money as they possibly can. When you put in a claim, you usually get a response almost immediately from the company that's been assigned your job. I've been really happy with AHS. As a matter of fact, we decided to sign a contract with the heating company that they sent out one time for yearly inspections. They were so good.

    I also did a claim when there was water coming out of the bottom of our toilet. I did this online as it was easier. Someone came the next day and he was really nice. He fixed the toilet really quickly. Unfortunately, what he did did not fix the issue so I put in another claim. They came back first thing the next morning and fixed it. Everything is working perfectly now.

    I noticed that there was water at the base of the toilet. I had somebody come out thru AHS to see what was going on. I prefer to have a human contact, but I used the website because when I called in the past, it took forever to get somebody on the phone to tell them what my issue was. Online, I was able to go on and say that it was a toilet in my bathroom and describe the problem when they designated it to whoever the service person was. They called me very promptly, and I was able to talk to a real person and communicate to them what my issue was. This contractor was great. They let me know when they were coming and came on time. They gave me an education and fixed the entire problem. They were very conscientious. I've had a couple of claims that I had taken up to management with what they did and I wasn't happy with. But I still decided to, instead of canceling them and go with someone else, go ahead and stay with AHS.

    If you've got a house, you should have a home warranty for the things that go wrong with every house.     On the first of the year when I had to use my AHS warranty, it took about four months to get my air conditioner fixed. My friend's daughter worked for American Home Shield and I had to contact her to get something done because they didn't seem to want to get me a contractor that would actually come to my area and service me. So, she found me a contractor, and by this point, summer was almost over. But now, my heating system is freezing up and they're just telling me now that it's an old system when it's never froze up before. The last contractor they had come out was very nice and they did everything. The tech suggested that I replace it and that he could give me a quote of about $7,000. But why do I need a home warranty then?

    I don't see how my system being old and freezing up just now is the problem. There's got to be something else that's going on if it hadn't been freezing up for the last six years that I've had it. I get that it's an old system, but at the same time, there's something that's got to be wrong with it that all of a sudden, it just started doing that. At this point, I'm not really thrilled with American Home Shield and it seems like a scam to me. But I'm hellbent on getting my money back out of American Home Shield because I put over $4,000 into this in the last six years in payments and deductibles.

    Also, it's like pulling teeth to get information out of American Home Shield. I haven't had time to contact my friend's daughter yet to find out from her because I'll go straight to her. I don't even deal with customer service anymore because I've had it out with seven agents and they just have absolutely no care about them. They don't care about the customer service and they don't care that you've been dealing with 100-degree weather, your air's went out, and you have children in the house for the last three months. All they care about is taking my money every month and that is insane and ridiculous.

    Having a warranty through AHS gives me peace of mind. During the build of the house, there were pipes that were installed wrong where two pipes were connecting down to one. One of the pipes slipped and it caused a flood from upstairs all the way downstairs. My whole flooring and the stucco all the way from upstairs to my garage were replaced and didn't have to come up with thousands of dollars out of pocket having the insurance.

    Also, two weeks ago, underneath my sink was leaking and it was fixed immediately. I didn't have to wait long. It was very efficient and professional.     AHS is pretty quick as far as trying to get someone in there. The communication with them has been good. They send me the contact info and it doesn't take long before the vendor starts contacting me. They're also good at giving me a heads-up when they're coming to whichever house.     It's beneficial to have AHS. The only thing is that I wait so long for a repairman to come. Also, the contractor has to talk to AHS first. But other than that, AHS has replaced my pool and they recently replaced my washer. The contractor had come out four times and it just wasn't worth fixing. They were professional.

    The chain of our garage door stopped working. This was a wear and tear problem. It was the same issue with the garbage disposal. It's good to have someone that you can call and they can come quickly. Sam's Garage came on Monday and I love them. They're really good. They had to order a different chain and they're coming again today to change the part. I like American Home Shield. The only thing is they sent an email the other day saying they'll be raising the prices.

    I've had one really good experience with them but for the most part, it's really difficult. You can get things done but there are hoops and delays. It almost feels like the delays are so that you will give up and pay out of pocket. Also, AHS always has high additional out-of-pocket expenses and they come up with ways to say that something isn't covered even though I have the supreme service. It can be frustrating, but it's better than having nothing most of the time.

    My most recent claim experience was really good. I had already paid someone to come out and they gave me the diagnosis. When I contacted American Home Shield and their contractor, I said, “Hey, someone came out and this is what the problem is.” The tech came and, “Yeah, that's exactly what the problem is.” That made the claim go faster because he had a part in his vehicle. It didn't cost me anything else. Even though I pay the service fee for American Home Shield, I gotta pay the service fee for somebody else because they come out right away. If you already know what your problem is, it's a lot easier than if you have no idea and the people can give you the runaround.

    So far, having a home warranty with American Home Shield has been a really good experience. Anytime I had any issues, I called and they did come out and provided good service. Charlie Redd’s came out for an oven repair. They did very well. They were prompt, courteous and professional. The only thing with American Home Shield is sometimes, I have a hard time understanding the person I'm talking to. I'm hard of hearing, so that makes it kind of even a little more difficult. Right now, I'm having a little bit of an issue with my heating system being repaired. As I understand and I found out this morning through one of the representatives that it was the way the issue had been submitted by the contractor to American Home Shield. Apparently, they went to a different format that's not probably used by American Home Shield, but it seems like that's been resolved.

    The machine on the spin cycle started making a loud clunking noise. I looked at the machine, made sure there were no articles, like money getting stuck up in there. I unplugged it, looked online and thought about resetting it. That didn't work. So, I called AHS. I spoke to the representative, and they called me back and told me who the agent was.

    The agent called me the next day within 24 hours. Then, due to the holiday Thanksgiving, there was pushback for four days due to the people getting off for the four-day Thanksgiving weekend. The company that came out was good. I spoke to the gentleman prior to his coming out. He gave me a date on that day, and then he called me the day of, saying that he was coming out. He diagnosed the issue and we just moved forward. The transmission in the washing machine was damaged.

    The benefit has been very good, because American Home Shield normally gets the person to do the work. If there is a problem, they work to try to fix it. So, I appreciate that. Plus, all I have to do is pay the copay of what have you. The only problem I have is I also have a pool, and AHS never found a technician to come the last time I called. But AHS refunded my service charge. Other than that, the service has been pretty good for me. They get back to me through e-mails or whatever.

    The freezer is working, but my icemaker’s still not working. Last week when the last technician was out here, she checked the water. And we put the filter in. But for some reason, it made ice one time and it didn't make ice anymore. With the plumbing, something had gotten in the line. They couldn't tell. And it stopped up at that point. It was taken care of in a matter of minutes. The technicians' work ethic was great. Once they got out here, it was good.

    American Home Shield is so reliable. I had no clue what was going on with my furnace. I'm new to homeownership, and this was the first time that I tried to turn on my furnace, since it's now cold and a couple of weeks ago, it was still 70 degrees. So, it was nice to not have to panic about how I would have someone come out do an estimate, and how long it would take for them to repair it and what parts I would need.     I like the fact that American Home Shield will just keep throwing parts at my old dilapidated AC and heating unit, and I don't have to worry about spending $18,000 on a new system for a house that I'm going to sell in the next three years, unless I die first. Recently, I had an HVAC company come out and do something on my furnace. They turned on the gas. It was one of those "duh" moments. I turned off the gas this summer when my wife thought it was leaking, which was why we got it in the first place. We had a leak up there, and the first company wanted to replace the whole system 'cause it's old. The second company said, "Oh, yeah. You got a leaking gas line. Here." It was a $50 part plus the service call versus $18,000. The techs have been fine and they don't embarrass me when it's something dumb that I've self-inflicted like this.

    American Home Shield has been amazing to me. I love having it. It's a peace of mind. If something goes out, then you ain't gotta worry about having the cash right then. You pay the service call and you know it's gonna get fixed. Gilmore's Home Solutions came out for the refrigerator, the microwave, and the stove. It would show an error. We didn't think it was that big a deal because all we had to do was unplug it and plug it back up. The technician looked at it. It was the circuit board. He took it apart and it was about fried. I called back because I didn't get an email back. They sent me to this one, then to that one, into this one. But when the technician from Gilmore came out, he was amazing. He did what he needed to do.

    American Home Shield replaced the refrigerator. They gave my wife choices to take, but she didn't like any of them. The ones that we liked that were on their website weren't available right then. We needed the refrigerator, so we went and bought one, sent the receipt in, and they sent the reimbursement check. We had the roof looked at too. But on my account, it still shows I owe $25 for some shingles they replaced. They weren't even the same color and it still leaks.

    I got American Home Shield when I first purchased my home. I keep it active because I've had a good outcome with them. Every time I've submitted a claim, the problem has been fixed within a very short amount of time. It’s a great company and I don't plan on getting rid of them. Recently, we would set our heater at a certain temperature, but it wasn't getting up to that temperature. That would happen off and on. I put in a claim with American Home Shield and had a contractor come and check it out. They called me within 20 minutes of submitting the claim and told me what time the next morning they would have somebody out there. The technician ended up having to do some maintenance.     I've had things happen and when I called AHS, the techs would come out and check it out. And they either fix it or replace it. Recently, my hot water heater went out and I made a claim on the website. It was very easy to navigate. You just put your stuff in, then they shoot you an email, and call you and set up an appointment. Within a few days, the tech was out here and he was freaking awesome. When he came in, we chatted it up for a little while. I told him what was going on then he jumped down there, did something, and fixed it. That was cool. He said there's a backorder on hot water heaters and he didn't want me to go a week without a hot water heater. So he got it done and fixed it up for me.

    Before this, I had a guy come out for my microwave and he was awesome, too. But I did not like the guy who came out for my washing machine. His bedside manner was not good. I understand you're fixing things, so time gets a little crazy. But he was three hours late. Then, he wasn't saying or doing anything. He kept running the washing machine but then he fell asleep standing up. Then he said there was nothing he could do because he didn't see the code. We called back and I told AHS that I didn't want the guy that they sent down here the first time to come back to my house. But I would have to pay an additional $100 for them to get somebody else to come out. In the end, the same guy came back out and he fixed it, but now it's leaking again. I just didn't call AHS because I don't have another $100 for them to come look at the same thing over again. Other than that, my experience with AHS has been great and I have no complaints.

    American Home Shield is good with their customer service and being friendly. But there are certain things that are not covered under the contract so that was a drawdown. It didn't matter which contractor you were with, it still didn't cover it. So, we weren't able to resolve the issue through them. I had to go through a second party, on my own dime, to get the issue fixed.

    When the home was built, there was a fitting that was used improperly and didn't allow for the device that the repair guy use to unclog to be able to reach where it's supposed to go. So, instead of routing the tool to where it needed to go, it just ended up going somewhere else. They tried to fix it, but they weren't able to. They weren't allowed to have a different device, which is called a hydro-jetting, to be used because it's not covered under any of the plans. It's not a fault of the homeowner because I'm the second person to own the home since it was built. So, I'm sure the person who owned it first didn't know either. AHS should have an outlet as to what is covered.

    My most recent claim with AHS was for my plumbing. The first people that were sent out tore my ceiling up and put a hole in my ceiling. He didn't do anything. He said something was wrong, like a crack in the tub. I said, “That doesn't sound right.” When he came, he was rushing out. He just didn't sound knowledgeable of anything. When I called and complained about the fact that the filling was messed up, AHS contacted the first company. The first company said they weren't gonna do anything about it. The latest thing that occurred was a contractor coming to fix my ceiling. He said my ceiling was fixed so he had to pack the mud on top of it. But it's not really completely done because we still have to do something to it.

    The primary purpose for retaining American Home Shield is if we have some large item go out.     I have two houses and American Home Shield sent out the first contractor to my first house on a refrigerator claim, who was a heating and air conditioning guy. This was back in August and the guy never responded to me nor to AHS. I had to wait 48 hours and then I had to keep submitting to get AHS to get a new guy on. It was the first issue I had with this complaint on my refrigerator in Anderson. As soon as I saw that they put this guy on, I immediately called them and said this guy doesn't exist. If they look at my records, it shows that this guy did not respond to my messages nor to theirs. So, I was shocked that I had to wait when both they and I knew this guy doesn't exist. It was a nightmare.

    The appliance service was a major issue with American Home Shield. They sent somebody out who came out immediately and they rectified it but the guy said he didn't do refrigerators. So they found somebody in Georgia three hours away from me, which was my next red flag. They don't have a good appliance person in their system. But when I had to fix my pool, the guy came out immediately and there were no issues.

    Everything I've done through American Home Shield has all been online. Their systems work really well. But there are times when it's been very delayed to get a tech out. When I had water pouring from my ceiling into my basement, it ended up kind of half-resolving itself. When the plumbers came out, there was still some remediation that needed to happen, but the clog that was causing the problem had pushed through. So, if it had remained an emergency situation, it would have been problematic. Sometimes, the delay in service can really be a problem if it's something that's more urgent.

    American Home Shield was cheaper. My recent claim was to fix a garbage disposal in the unit I'm renting in California. My tenant was there and everything seems to have worked out fine. They were pretty prompt and responsive, and they fixed the problem. The one thing that is a problem is that I have to call. My tenant’s phone number is not listed, so when she calls directly to AHS for any problems, they say she doesn't have a policy, and I have to do the calling. So, I don't know how to make it so that she is listed on the policy and she could just make the call herself. The most efficient way I found to get through is online. The last time I did everything online, and it was fine.

    We looked into others and it seemed like American Home Shield handles a good amount of stuff. We had an issue with our garbage disposal since we bought the house. We never put anything down there that we weren't supposed to. We took good care of our stuff. But it kept getting stuck. It took a lot of muscle. It would get stuck again a few days later, had to get it unstuck. Finally, I couldn't get it unstuck anymore. So, the plumber came out and replaced it. Everything was good.

    It was not a pleasant experience with American Home Shield. My refrigerator broke. A guy came out and put in a report. That was in the beginning of August. He said, “We can't fix it, you need it replaced.” I must have spent easily seven hours, an hour plus each time I called before I was able to rectify it. I would put in another complaint with ConsumerAffairs and they would kick it back. It took 4 months for me to get my money from American Home Shield. There were no refrigerators ‘cause of the backstock. I had a refrigerator that I had to throw everything away that was in the freezer ‘cause it went from 25 degrees to -6 because it was broken. The door wouldn't close ‘cause a piece was broken on the refrigerator door. It was horrible. I would just get the runaround.

    Another thing was I asked for a plumber to come and look at my jet tub that wasn't working. They sent out a plumber that wasn't even contracted through them. I took the day off and waited. The guy called me after he was scheduled to come, at the end of the day, and said, “I'm not even contracted to come and look at your tub.” I was supposed to get two free service calls after that but didn't get them. Between the tub and the fridge, it was a nightmare.

    The drain pump motor burned out. It was so bad that it needed to be replaced. AHS replaced it. The tech was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He's the owner of the contracting company. You couldn't ask for a better situation.

    We had a leaky garbage disposal. It caused some yucky stuff to happen underneath the sink. I put in the information in American Home Shield's automated system. And they sent me an email telling me who would call me. That was A.G. Plumbing. They called me within 24 hours. Made the appointment for within a week. It was fairly quick.

    The gentleman was fabulous. Came in, got under the sink, looked around, pulled a few things here and there. Saw the gaping split in my garbage disposal. It was fairly old, but beyond repair. And he said, “I am sorry. We're gonna have to replace this.” And I said, “Have at it.” It was so quick. Cleaned up everything. And even wiped the cabinet down where he was working. I was very impressed.

    My experience with American Home Shield was fine. Customer service gets what I need. But I was concerned about the guy that came and fixed my garage door. American Home Shield is going to charge me and the guy also charged me $250 out of pocket. I thought that was wrong because American Home Shield is supposed to pay him. He ripped me off and that needs to be checked.

    American Home Shield is a great company and we've been with them for a while. The only thing is some of their contractors are bad. My AC went out about five or six times in a month and I had to pay for Freon twice. After the second one, they gave me the Freon and I didn't have to pay for that. But it's just an inconvenience. This was during summer and we had to get a hotel.

    I've had a good experience with American Home Shield. When my water heater pipe burst, I called them one day, and the repair company came out the next day and fixed the issue in a timely manner. My sink was also damaged, and I couldn't use it, but it wasn't covered under the warranty. However, the repair company could replace it for me, which I said, “Okay.” I'll call them back when I have the money to pay for full price. ‘Cause it would have been a different price if it was covered.

    American Home Shield sent Amazing Comfort to fix my AC because my air conditioning unit wasn't fully engaging. It wasn't blowing cold air. He got here in a timely manner. As far as calling me before he arrived, 30 minutes prior, he did that as requested. He gave me an update when he was through the tunnel 10 minutes out. He came in, he got right to work, went outside to my AC unit, looked at that, and came inside. He used foot covers. I appreciated that because I didn't know where his feet were. He followed safety guidelines as well. He used the proper equipment he should use. He was very fluid in his movements.

    We've been so happy with American Home Shield. We bought our house in July and we've had a bunch of issues. They've been incredible to work with. Recently, we had a plumber come out to look at a leak that we had in our crawlspace in the basement. He noticed that there was another pipe down there that was leaking a weird gooey substance. He said that we should get a roof person to come because he thought that the gooey substance was coming from insulation, and that there might be a leak in the roof that was grabbing insulation on its way down then bringing goop into the crawlspace.

    We asked a roof guy to come out. He went up on the roof and found a bunch of other problems as well. He noticed that there was a duct that wasn't connected to a heating duct. We had to get an HVAC guy to come out to look at the ducts that were in the attic. But the roof guy repaired the ducts that were not attached correctly. It was open, so squirrels were getting inside the attic from the roof and dying in our attic. We have a guy coming today to get the squirrels out of there.

    Customer service has been great so far, and the speed of service has been good. American Home Shield sends very good, professional guys as well. We have two properties, and the pool guy that they sent out was really good. Recently, I had a claim for a refrigerator and I've still got it open, but the delay is my fault.     American Home Shield's service is a little expensive, but I've been happy. My heater wasn't working. And I've had a few different things. The lock on my washing machine broke. It's nice that I can have that stuff covered for them to come out and fix, but it's a multi-step process. And to actually get it fixed, it takes a while. They have to come out, diagnose it, and from there, they have to go through the warranty to order a part, wait for that part to come in, and they can come out and fix it. So, the timing is a little annoying. But I'm happy with the coverage and how prompt they are to get people out. So far, so good.
