American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

We had issues for the plumbing claim. The guy that came outside to fix the sink made a worse leak resulting to puddles of water under the sink. I told the lady from American Home Shield I needed them to come out. The lady spoke to them and he told her that the car broke down. But if your car broke down, you should still give the customer a call. Because I waited that whole day. I wasted my time. She told them they gotta fix the kitchen sink and something in the bathroom. They were supposed to come Friday, and they never called me back. But it was resolved today. I like the way the customer service lady spoke to me and took care of it. That's what made me change my mind about the whole thing. She was good.
We also called AHS last year for the microwave, but they never fixed it. They kept telling me it was an over the counter microwave when it was a built-in. The electrician that came out let them know that it was a built-in microwave, and finally, they came out and fixed it. But the electrician was excellent. He was the best.

I had issues with old faucets. The techs came within the next few days. Their work ethic was very good. They were very professional and efficient. AHS is a very good service to have.

AHS is doing a great job. I appreciate it. I like that I don't have to pay the price of an electrician or a plumber to come out. I give them the base. If it's a little bit more, I have to pay a deductible. That helps me out a lot. I had a claim for my AC unit recently. I had a technician come out. He checked it out and replaced a couple of parts. It seems to be running fine now. I like that with AHS, I don't have to pay the price of an electrician or a plumber to come out. I give them the base. My experience with American Home Shield was fine. Customer service gets what I need. But I was concerned about the guy that came and fixed my garage door. American Home Shield is going to charge me and the guy also charged me $250 out of pocket. I thought that was wrong because American Home Shield is supposed to pay him. He ripped me off and that needs to be checked.

I just lost my husband to COVID this year so I praise God that I was able to have American Home Shield because just recently, the vacuum, the garbage disposal and the dryer broke. I was starting to get stressed and then I remembered that we were paying for a warranty. My husband was the one who handled all these and I had to see if we were still making payments or how the payments are being made. And we were, so I was able to call and request the claim. So far, AHS has been great. Sanchez Appliance came for the dryer but it was National Plumbing who came for my garbage disposal. The gentleman from Sanchez was fast and professional. But both gentlemen from both companies were amazing. I have a note in my front door asking everybody that comes in to please wear a mask. I was able to see through the cameras that they didn't have a mask. They went back to their car and grabbed a mask. They were very respectful.

I had a water heater issue. The techs fixed it and they did a great job. Our air conditioner messed up also and something happened with the defroster on our unit. They ordered the wrong part. But they came a couple of days later and put the right part in.

I have this continuing problem with my refrigerator and freezer. The last time American Home Shield sent someone out, I had to pay another $100 because it was 30 days since their contractor had come out. When the service company came out to do this last repair, the part they replaced was not the two previous parts they put in. I didn't think it was right that it wasn’t covered under the other service call. Other than that, they were great. They got the parts faster than I would’ve thought, the way things are nowadays. I am very happy with American Home Shield. I've saved a lot of money. I probably had over $600 worth of repairs done already.

American Home Shield is great and responsive, and I've had a great experience. When I've had a problem, it's been addressed quickly. The only thing is that instead of replacing an HVAC unit, they just patch it. They won't replace it when it should be replaced. But their contractors are very good and I’ve always been 100% satisfied.

We've been so happy with American Home Shield. We bought our house in July and we've had a bunch of issues. They've been incredible to work with. Recently, we had a plumber come out to look at a leak that we had in our crawlspace in the basement. He noticed that there was another pipe down there that was leaking a weird gooey substance. He said that we should get a roof person to come because he thought that the gooey substance was coming from insulation, and that there might be a leak in the roof that was grabbing insulation on its way down then bringing goop into the crawlspace.
We asked a roof guy to come out. He went up on the roof and found a bunch of other problems as well. He noticed that there was a duct that wasn't connected to a heating duct. We had to get an HVAC guy to come out to look at the ducts that were in the attic. But the roof guy repaired the ducts that were not attached correctly. It was open, so squirrels were getting inside the attic from the roof and dying in our attic. We have a guy coming today to get the squirrels out of there.

Home Shield is cheaper and my experience with them has been good. I did a claim for my garbage disposal and within two hours, someone came and fixed it. I also did a claim for my dishwasher. Techs ordered a part and they came in. They were professional. Home Shield saved me a lot of money and it's better. It's better than those warranties that come with new builds because those have some restrictions on them saying that after two years or three years, it expires. If you buy something new, it doesn't break down within those two years. By the time something is wrong with it, the warranty is gone. But with Home Shield, you only have to wait for a month after a year then you register or sign up for it. It's an awesome deal.

I had a water heater claim to American Home Shield. There were about four different companies that came out here to do little pieces of each thing to replace the water heater. Every time, somebody would come out and it was like, “Well, who are you?” “Well, I'm so and so from this company.” I was like, “Well, why?” Then I ended up getting charged $694 to the company for the water heater. I asked them, “Well, so what did American Home Shield pay you?” They said, “Oh, we can't tell you that.” To me, it appeared that they were being paid twice. I called American Home Shield and they said, “Well, we paid for the water heater.” I said, “No, I paid for the water heater.” The company agreed that I paid for the water heater. I said, “But the receipt says ‘install.’” “Well, that's how we put it so that you can use it on your taxes.” It was a really confusing time for me. So, I'm gonna go with a different company for my home warranty.
I called to get clarification on that charge, and the guy that answered with American Home Shield said that they were going to pay for the water heater. I said, “Well, if that's the case, why did I pay for it?” He said, “You didn't.” I said, “Yes, I did.” I said, “So, somebody should give me my money back then, if you guys are gonna pay for it.” He was like, “Well, we're not giving you any money back.” It was frustrating.

I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield. For my recent claim, my power kept going out every time I plugged something up. The tech said that I needed more voltage. But he wasn't able to do anything. They wanted too much money for me to get more voltage. He said that it had to be rewired.

The top part of the oven wasn't working. The tech came in and replaced the igniters to warm up the oven. He was good. He knew what he was doing. He solved the problem. He installed it in less than 30 minutes when he came back.

Customer service has been great so far, and the speed of service has been good. American Home Shield sends very good, professional guys as well. We have two properties, and the pool guy that they sent out was really good. Recently, I had a claim for a refrigerator and I've still got it open, but the delay is my fault. We're at the point where American Home Shield has sent the link for us to choose the replacement fridge. I just haven't gotten around to choosing.

I kept telling American Home Shield that the washer needed to be replaced. They had four techs out here. They send in the parts and by the time they get the part, American Home Shield is paying 400 and something dollars for the part when they could have just given me a new washer. Techs started coming out in September and they finally resolved the issue. I got a new washer yesterday.
I got a home warranty because my stuff breaks down and I can't afford it. I needed somebody to help me out. There are certain things that American Home Shield does not fix and I don’t like that. They sent guys out for my garage because my garage door won’t go up and they said that wasn’t a problem. I needed new wiring going down on the ground because I was not getting enough power to the garage. But they didn't do that. I paid my $100 for the deductible but they didn't do anything. Why am I paying the $100 and the guys are not doing anything? American Home Shield needs to create a better policy. They should also tell the customer what is and isn’t covered. I’m mad because they won’t fix my electricity.
Also, American Home Shield needs to get the people in there to speak just a little bit clearer English. Sometimes they are not quite understanding what you're saying. They get it mixed up. I told them that the guy that did the garage said I needed an electrician. American Home Shield sent the same guy right back to me. He told me to call American Home Shield back and tell them I needed an electrician and not him. Customer service needs to listen clearly to what people are saying.

I had two claims with AHS. One was for my water heater that burst. I called on a Friday but they were calling me back on Monday. So I had to get another tank on Saturday because we didn't have any water to shower. On Monday, the person was telling me that I have an appointment on that day. It was too late. I called AHS, I was so angry. I had even told them, "I'm gonna report this to Better Business Bureau because I have referred so many people to American Home Shield. I have been a customer for so long." These people told me, "Nobody told us it was an emergency." I was so disappointed.
Then, the second claim was for a microwave. I called and they gave me the number to call. I called this man. He came and said, "Oh, nothing to repair here. This was just a switch." He did it quickly. The microwave was clear and we were able to warm our food. I was fully satisfied. But for the heater, they need to reimburse my money.

American Home Shield gets the job done. My lights were out in my kitchen and my dining room. A tech fixed that for me and put new wiring in. He was great and very understanding. The only thing about my home warranty is everything went up. Other than that, it's okay and I wouldn't change it.

My refrigerator was still under manufacturer's warranty and Sears was willing to pay for the part, but they weren't going to pay for the labor. And American Home Shield didn't want to pay for the labor. So I went back and forth with them for three months and in the end, American Home Shield paid for the labor. Recently, my washer and dryer messed up. I called AHS and asked them to look at my account because I was calling them every two months and they've been sending different companies out here. The washer & dryer would work for a little bit, then it would break again.
So finally, they sent back the last worker that was out here. He just came out three weeks prior and he said it was not fixable anymore. He said that he was going to tell AHS to replace it and I ended up purchasing a new unit from Home Depot. But I got a defective one, so now I'm waiting for them to come pick up this one and get another. Even though I've had some bad experiences, I'd still recommend AHS. Every company is going to have their pros and cons, it just depends what situation you're in. But overall, AHS is a good company. I just hope they get better with their service.

Our refrigerator suddenly started freezing everything. There was something going on where too cold of air was coming in. All of a sudden, all our groceries and water bottles were frozen, and we couldn't get it to a normal temperature. The technician came out and was super professional, but then after they left, the problem persisted. I called American Home Shield. They responded right away and got the technician back out again quickly. The claim is still open. He just left Friday. We're trying to see if things are working again. But so far, it's been good. Despite the issue with our refrigerator’s happening, American Home Shield has been on top of it and making sure that things have been good. The only thing that I haven't heard yet is what other options we have available.

American Home Shield sent Amazing Comfort to fix my AC because my air conditioning unit wasn't fully engaging. It wasn't blowing cold air. He got here in a timely manner. As far as calling me before he arrived, 30 minutes prior, he did that as requested. He gave me an update when he was through the tunnel 10 minutes out. He came in, he got right to work, went outside to my AC unit, looked at that, and came inside. He used foot covers. I appreciated that because I didn't know where his feet were. He followed safety guidelines as well. He used the proper equipment he should use. He was very fluid in his movements.

The service with American Home Shield has been really good. One of the big benefits is we get somebody who has been vetted to go out there and take a look at the problem. The repair costs are subsidized, and that's good as well. We have an ongoing furnace issue now. The service has not yet been completed, but I've had previous repairs and I have not had issues with them.

The contractor was great. The guy came out, fixed the issue, and I was happy with everything that happened. I've been with American Home Shield for six years, and I have peace of mind. If something goes wrong, I make a phone call, and normally, they resolve it. If it’s not in the coverage, then it’s on me. I’d tell people to purchase the warranty.

The coil on the old dryer would separate so there's no connection and there's no heat. You can reconnect the coil but it's just gonna burn up in that same spot again because it's a weak area. So, we had to order a brand new one. The tech from Beacon Appliance made it work temporarily. When the part came in, he completely replaced the coil. He’s a wonderful guy and it was excellent dealing with him. But it is the second time that same coil went out in my dryer in a year's time. They have had to do it twice now.
I’ve been using American Home Shield since I got them. They're great. I had an incident but it wasn't their fault. I had to have a well put in and the pump people said I needed an electrician. So I paid the $75 for electrician. And they came and told that it’s the pump people. So I was a little disgruntled that I paid for a runaround. But I like keeping my warranty because it helps me with home repairs and so, I'm not paying extreme out of pocket cost.

American Home Shield’s prices are a lot higher than the company that I had before and it seems like I don't get the servicemen as quickly. About four weeks ago, my dishwasher went out and the fellow called me about a week and a half ago and said that the replacement came in damaged so he sent it back. But I haven’t heard from him since. In trying to call the appliance place that I have to call for the dishwasher, I find it hard to understand the operators. I also get put on hold. But today, I finally gave up because I had to go to the doctors. I have a hose on my faucet for the sink and last night, when we were washing dishes, the nozzle fell off. So I'm calling them again today to get that serviced on and I haven't heard back from them either. It's a little frustrating because now I don't have a dishwasher and a kitchen sink faucet. Nobody has called me back and a courtesy call would be nice. Otherwise, the stuff that has been done has been good.

The problem with the dishwasher started probably about 30 days before I contacted American Home Shield to have a service guy come out. It had a slow leak that developed into a bigger leak. I was told that a repairman would come out. And once he got back with them, then we’d all get together and they’d decide what to do, whether it was to repair or to replace. AHS is great. People should use them.

Our garbage disposal was not working. The sink was clogged up on that same side, too. The young man that came out was very good. He wasn't in here long at all. He unclogged it and showed me a tool that he uses, and gave me a little tip. To sharpen the blades, put ice down there periodically. He was very helpful. He was nice, took his shoes off right away, and was very polite. This was the first claim I used with AHS. I was very impressed.

I do the claims on the phone because I don't have a computer but the phone prompt system can be frustrating because if there's background noise, it picks up on it. So I have to make sure that I have the TV turned off and the house is quiet. Otherwise, it doesn't understand what I'm saying. Last year, during winter, I had carbon monoxide detectors put in because my heating system was old. I have a security system and they recommended it. That thing went off in the middle of the night and American Home Shield replaced my heater. I had to pay a little bit with it because part of it wasn't covered. It had to be upgraded to code. But without AHS, I'd have been without heat last winter because I'm currently on workers’ comp for an injury at work. I'm a nurse and I wouldn't have been able to afford to replace that heater. So I’d have been using plug-in heaters, which is totally unsafe. AHS got the parts ordered and the techs got everything taken care of.
I also had to have a hot water heater replaced within 30 days of that. I had to pay money for that, too because it had to be upgraded to code because codes changed in 20 years. But AHS is always prompt. They get me assigned to service, whatever it may be. My air conditioner went out in the summer and it was gonna take 30 days to get the part. AHS bought me a window unit for my bedroom and I had a cool room in the house where I could go to sleep. I don't know that anybody else would have done that. The experience with AHS has been pleasurable. I love it. I've had AHS for over 20 years and I wouldn't think about being without them.

The repairman who came for the heating unit that stopped working did a fantastic job. In a single visit, that person resolved the issue. I was satisfied. It was a very pleasant experience. After Select Home Warranty where I had a terrible experience, American Home Shield is a breath of fresh air.

I recently had American Home Shield fix the bottom of my sink, and it's great. The only thing I am critical about is the time the technicians get here, but that's not American Home Shield's control. That’s more of the technicians. It usually takes them two or three days, then sometimes, they don't have the part and they have to wait a week or two before they get it.

The refrigerator was never set up right and I opened American Home Shield’s website and said there were door and ceiling issues with the refrigerator. They got the serial number and model number of the refrigerator because we were discussing potentially replacement of door gaskets. But it turned out all the doors were misaligned based on the floor level. The freezer basket was not bolted right and it was also not aligned right. So, the bolts on the basket were loose. The tech was very skillful and did everything right. He came and leveled everything.

When I had my water heater replaced, the first plumbing company they sent out wanted to charge me another 350 bucks. What the tech said was pipe work but he wouldn't tell me what it was. So, I called American Home Shield and had them switch it to someone else. They took care of it. Recently, I had a shower that was leaking. The tech contacted me the next day. He was the one who replaced the water heater for me back in February and he was a professional guy. I've used AHS almost every year I've had it. They've covered everything I’ve ever had a claim on without question. My only complaint right now is the price and how much it went up this year. I understand it goes up a bit every year but this year was a significant jump.

The whole process with AHS is not very transparent. Sometimes the contractor will come and do something, but they won't completely fix the issue. Then they will close out the claim. This happened to me three times already and then I had to call back. There's no follow-up from American Home Shield to make sure that the customer is getting the service. They need to check with the customer before they close the claim. But recently, I had a drain blockage that they fixed. It's all fine now.

There was an issue with my AC. An HVAC company comes out there and for whatever reason, Home Shield always chooses that company and I don't like them because they try to upsell stuff. They tried to tell me I needed a drain pan. But my AC has been working for about seven years without that drain pan that they kepte offering. The other pieces were actually the issue. They go through this thing. They say where they tell me I need this and XYZ. I did not want to buy all these other extra services they are trying to sell me. Because when they go through Home Shield, they limit what they can get to charge you, which is what I appreciate. But this is how sometimes these vendors try to go around that.
When I needed something like a blower motor, Home Shield denied it because of a lack of maintenance. My property manager called one of his HVAC guys. That HVAC guy said, “Home Shield should have replaced it, but I don't know exactly what that company told Home Shield.” Depending on what that the service company told the warranty company was why the claim was denied. I ended up getting the unit replaced out of pocket.
Other that that, I don’t have any problems. When my toilet wasn’t refilling back up, Home Shield ended up replacing it and fixing the water flow. The toilet's working great now. When my hot water heater stopped working, it was replaced by Home Shield in the beginning of 2021. It took them about a week to get everything done. That was dope to me. I only had to come out of pocket like $400, which was cool with me. That's how I know that this home warranty works. It saves thousands of dollars and certain headaches even though every now and then, stuff slips through the cracks with the vendors in the games that they play.

My dishwasher wasn't drying. I made my payment on a Friday and the tech came right after the weekend. The tech was very informative. He explained why it wasn't working and how he can fix it. He also shared different ways to save energy on my dryer.

My furnace wasn't working. A technician came out and had to clean out the tubes. He said there was shaving from when the furnace was first built. American Home Shield is convenient. I don't have to worry about how am I gonna pay for these types of services upfront. I definitely would recommend it to someone.

I've had a good experience with American Home Shield. When my water heater pipe burst, I called them one day, and the repair company came out the next day and fixed the issue in a timely manner. My sink was also damaged, and I couldn't use it, but it wasn't covered under the warranty. However, the repair company could replace it for me, which I said, “Okay.” I'll call them back when I have the money to pay for full price. ‘Cause it would have been a different price if it was covered.

We had a leaky garbage disposal. It caused some yucky stuff to happen underneath the sink. I put in the information in American Home Shield's automated system. And they sent me an email telling me who would call me. That was A.G. Plumbing. They called me within 24 hours. Made the appointment for within a week. It was fairly quick.
The gentleman was fabulous. Came in, got under the sink, looked around, pulled a few things here and there. Saw the gaping split in my garbage disposal. It was fairly old, but beyond repair. And he said, “I am sorry. We're gonna have to replace this.” And I said, “Have at it.” It was so quick. Cleaned up everything. And even wiped the cabinet down where he was working. I was very impressed.

I like the convenience of the warranty. It gives peace of mind that if something were to break that's common that I only have $100 deductible. Recently, our outside plugs weren't working. The techs put new GFCI plugs in and new caps. They made sure it was all working and it was easy-breezy. I also had a sewer claim ‘cause things were overflowing from our toilet and stuff. The plumbers fixed the toilet seals and made sure that the sewer was cleaned out. Most of the time, interacting with AHS's contractors has been pretty good though I had one recently where I tried to get my heat serviced, and they would never schedule me. So, I had to contact AHS and get a refund. Also, if your problem is an emergency, it's hard to get ahold of anybody at AHS if it's on the weekends or after business hours.

My oven stopped working. The service provided by the contractor was very efficient. They diagnosed the issue and ordered the part. They came back and installed it. AHS is really expensive but when you need it, it works.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling upstairs. A guy came over and he looked at it. He said it was the motor and ordered a replacement for it. He then came back and put it in. That fixed the issue and everything works well. American Home Shield is excellent.

American Home Shield sent McCarty for my hot water heater. I didn't have hot water. I was very satisfied submitting claims to AHS. The gentleman that came was nothing but polite and helpful. He tried to see if it was just something wrong with my hot water heater. Then he realized that it was bad and that it was leaking. He showed me where it was leaking. He replaced the hot water heater.

Our furnace went out a year ago and even though it was a covered appliance, we ended up having to pay for it ourselves because American Home Shield couldn't get somebody out for three weeks. So, that was something that we weren't happy about. I just had surgery and there was no way I could be in a cold house for that long. So, it was an out-of-pocket expense after having paid for insurance for all these years, which was frustrating. I pay 600 and something dollars a year, which is a lot of money. Everything else has gone okay although I had some plumbing problems and I ended up paying the plumber. AHS said they wouldn't touch it because I already had my contractor look at the plumbing. So I wasn't able to use it for the plumbing either. But when it’s the refrigerator or the oven, AHS seems to work fine. Now that I'm on my own, to be able to call them and pay $75 to have them come out, I'll probably keep it.

We had a new claim for my heating system. The process was easy but it took AHS a day to get back to me. Also, it got confusing with the contractor. I missed their call and they missed my call. Finally, we got ahold of each other and got things going. They were out within a day after we got everything situated. I also had problems with my well pump. They sent a tech and he wasn't the right guy to do it. I called another guy and he said, “No, we don't do that.” Then finally, somebody came out and they did it. If you are going to do a warranty, AHS wouldn't be a bad company to go with. But it's not worth the money overall. I've been thinking of canceling that type of insurance.

When the AC unit is not working, the contractor said that it's either the circuit board or I had to get a new furnace. The claim has been open for about a month now. But I haven't heard from them. I wanted to get the circuit board, but the insurance doesn't cover it. But when I had a claim with the heater, American Home Shield covered it. I also had a problem with my dryer, and they fixed it.

We had a claim for our pool pump and Mike's Pool Service was out there the next day. The tech saw what was wrong and I had him put down the estimate and send it to Home Shield to get approved to get the parts to replace the pump. That was done within two weeks. They were great.

Our heating unit wasn't working properly. It would cut on for a second and then cut right back off. I contacted AHS and they had Amazing Comfort call me. They were able to find out the problem and get it corrected.

AHS doubled the monthly bill by increasing it twice each year without even notifying me. I could not resolve this issue over the phone. When I got fed up and finally told them I am canceling my contract, they started offering some minimal discounts to keep me. When I rejected their offer, several representatives simply disconnected their phones. The last representative whom I talked became aggressive after hearing I am still canceling my contract and charged me for the whole month in advance which I did not use/need and on top of that, he charged a Cancellation Admin Fee amounting to a one-month payment. Avoid this company at all costs - don't trust their rosy offers, which are valid until you take their bait!

I love American Home Shield. I would never leave them. They're the best company. I recommended them to some of my co-workers that got their house. I'm very satisfied to be with a reliable company that will take care of all my needs. When one company would say they couldn't come, they would send another technician. Recently, my furnace was shutting off and on. The contractor had to put in a motor. They were trying real hard. They were so professional. The only thing American Home Shield made an error was when they took another 125 out. But they refunded it back.

The element had gone out on one of the burners on the stove and the techs were out the next day or the day after. It was quick. But the longest thing was they had to order the part. The tech was saying it would be there on a Tuesday and he could come the next day. Because whenever it arrived, they could come the next day and put it in. But that was coming up to Thanksgiving and I couldn't do it at that particular time. So, I asked to just push it to the next week. So, it was more on me. The stove is working fabulous now and the tech was absolutely wonderful. American Home Shield is quick, efficient and very courteous. Even when I have to talk to someone about something, they were right on it. I have peace of mind and it's beneficial how easy it is to process the system. I prefer to submit claims online because I can do it at any time. I don't have to talk to a person and I can just go straight online and put in what I need and get immediate feedback.

When I called in a couple of claims, it went through easily. The icemaker broke. The techs were good and friendly. And they told me what they were doing and what could have happened. They explained everything. American Home Shield said the part would take 24 weeks. And they gave me the choice between just the price of a new refrigerator, or wait on the part. They just gave me the price of the refrigerator. I was very satisfied.

It was about four days to get a plumber. Then they had to come back ‘cause they had to order some parts. That took another week. They were good but the issue I had, which was not their fault, was they said, "“We can't touch that. That's not at code.” When you buy a house, you find out some of the work is not done to code, but there's nothing they're gonna do about that. That’s frustrating. But for what they've been able to do, I've been satisfied.

I had them do a rekey and the claim submission process was super easy. I did the claim on the day we closed and the contractor was here the next day rekeying. It was a super fast response, which is appreciated. Also, the tech was super professional and he was in and out, which is nice. I also had another claim where the inspector thought that there was something wrong with the heater. I had someone come out and take a look at the furnace and it turns out everything's fine with it. I feel comfortable now that I get his word that it's in working order.

The faucets in the master bath were leaking and going down underneath the sink into the cabinets below. Cascade Plumbing, the contractor, fixed whatever needed so that they stopped leaking. They said I did it at the right time because it can cause rusting in the inner workings if I haven't gotten it fixed. I like that with American Home Shield, you're not going to have a big bill if something breaks.

I had a plumber come out to look at my kitchen sink because it wasn't draining. However, I was told that it wasn't gonna be covered. I called and asked why. The woman on the phone said, “Because it's not normal wear and tear, that is not covered. You put something down there that caused whatever the issue is.” I said, “It seems like either the tech knows how to write it out so that it doesn't become covered or it doesn't seem like anything is covered.” I wanted to cancel my service.
She said, “I can send out another plumber to give you a second opinion. But if the plumber says the same thing, then you have to pay for that visit again.” I said, "I don't wanna run that risk, because, again, that's $125.” She said, “Okay. I'll send somebody out for a second opinion, complimentary for this one time.” They're supposed to come out today, but I haven't heard anything yet.
They also came out for my AC, which was great. They took care of everything right then and there. The techs were prompt. They also came out for my bathroom. The claim was 3,800, but I was told that AHS would only cover $1,000 of that, which is better than nothing. But I pay almost $60 a month and then I pay $125 every time they come out. And this was only the third time I've had to use them. I don't expect every single thing that goes wrong to be covered, but if I have the highest plan, I don't understand why I'm getting pushback for certain things.

My boiler was leaking gas two separate times. During the first one, the pilot wouldn't come on. The gentleman from Union Express came out and put a thermocouple in there. The next time, my husband went down the basement and he smelled gas. They call it a back up, and then we called PGW. They came over and verified it, and we had to call American Home Shield. The tech came out two days ago and did another thing because it was leaking gas again. So that's two leaks on there PGW's been out. The boiler is completed now unless we smell more gas.

American Home Shield can improve on the people that do the repairs. They need to find good people and not just the cheapest people they could find because they're gonna be the ones that are working for us. This last claim was a plumbing issue. It took the repairman over two weeks to get back to me. American Home Shield did the same thing I did, left a message, shot them an email. Within a couple of days after that, we heard from them. But I'm still waiting on the same company to come back ‘cause I'm doing a recall on their work. It's been a week now and I haven't heard back. American Home Shield reached out to me on email about this service, and I told them they had a button to push and I pushed the button. I need help. They said they'd call me within 24 hours, and now it's been 48 for American Home Shield also.

The American Home Shield policy that I had for our property in New Jersey was great. But using the policy out here in Nevada sucks. We had a claim for the hot water heater and the plumber that came didn't even look at it. He just opened up the door, took a picture, and said, “Okay,” and hit up his friend as soon as he hit the car. He told his friend that we had a flood and for him to give us a call. The plumber tried hooking his buddy up for business, which was very unprofessional. As soon as he walked away, the remittance guy was calling us. He said he works with American Home Shield.
The plumber also wrote a report even though he didn't even look at anything. Our claim got declined because it was a pre-existing condition. But a used house is already a pre-existing condition. Why offer a home warranty if you're not going to cover their pre-existing problem? We've had American Home Shield for over five years. Luckily, we haven't really used it for big ticket items like our air conditioner, which is what we got the home warranty for initially.
My husband said to the rep, “Anything that has water running through it, you're not going to cover because it's a pre-existing condition.” The guy responded, “Yup.” We had this escalated and to an extreme. My husband wrote to three different people. He had to fight and say, “Home warranties are supposed to cover pre-existing conditions. That's what they're for.” I'm very dissatisfied and we're looking around. I feel bad because we had a claim for our refrigerator due to the compressor going out and the guys who did that were great. They were professional and courteous. We had to wait for a part but they were very communicative with it. Love them.

The microwave wasn’t working properly and American Home Shield had to replace it with a new one. And on the refrigerator, the water panel had some issues going on so the whole system had to be replaced. Everything is working perfectly now. The tech was a great person and I liked him. These appliances break, especially in the old homes, so it’s good to have some extra coverage. Whenever I call AHS, they're reliable and the techs come and help me. The only problem is that the customer service people sometimes have difficulty in understanding you. But otherwise, I have no problem. AHS did a marvelous job.

My dishwasher went out. The tech who came knew exactly what he was doing. He was professional. He was really nice. The only thing I have a complaint about that bothers me is I'm having an issue now with my bathtub, but I can't call anybody. I can’t get ahold of anyone to do it any other way. I don't know who to talk to see if it's covered. I don't wanna pay the $100 and then have somebody come out and say it's not covered. It’s $100 I won't get back if it's not covered.

AHS's website is pretty nice. It's set up so that you can log in real quick and get an appointment set up. The contractors call you within a day. Recently, our refrigerator was leaking. The techs replaced the door on it the first time around and put all the old guts in it from the old door. It ended up having another leak and they came out and fixed that. It still wasn't fixed, so they had to come out a third time and fix it properly. They finally got it corrected. They were very good at what they did. AHS has been very good to us. We've had a few things that we've had to call them on, and they've taken care of every one of them.

We've been with AHS for a long time and we've never had a problem. They have been really good. Recently, the pipe underneath our kitchen sink broke. I called, reported, and within two days, the gentleman was here to fix it. I've had one bad service tech and that was all in all those years. The rest of them have been fabulous.

My microwave went out and American Home Shield sent out a service provider to look at it. The tech said it was probably a couple of fuses and he scheduled another appointment to come out and fixed the issue. Once the repair was done though, it wasn’t explained if I would have to pay another deductible if the microwave goes out. I had to ask a lot of questions after they said a service person would be assigned to me as far as next step. The automated diagnostics check via the phone was very complicated. It didn't work. When I spoke to a live person, I was told to download an app. There was no way to put speaker on so it was hard speaking to that person and all the diagnostics that they asked me to do had already been done prior to the call, which I explained. She couldn't hear what I was doing and the pictures weren't clear.

I had a claim with AHS for a bad sensor and a porch light. The tech came really quickly. We thought it might have been the switch. Changed out my light switch. Went through it and found out that I had a bad day night sensor and the light. Bypassed that and fixed it. That was the third time the tech's been here. He's a great guy. He's dependable and informative. AHS has a quick response time. They also find good people.

American Home Shield sent J.G. Services for our heater. There was an issue where it wasn't working, but it ended up not being a heater. The whole claim experience was great. We've had AHS for about six years, and we like it for anything that happens in the home. We've used it a few times for plumbing issues and it's always been great. We like them. I also like being able to request if I know I don't want someone.

American Home Shield looks after their customers. On the policy, it says you have one free service a year, but you still have to pay the 125 when the contractor comes. The guy that came and serviced the heater outside left the switch off and we had no idea. All we knew was that it was pushing out cold air. A repairman from Cabot came, checked everything out and everything was perfect with it. I would recommend Cabot.

American Home Shield is a terrible company and I am not a huge fan. Their customer service sucks. I've been lied to multiple times by their reps whenever I call. Overall, it's been a bad experience. I had been fighting with them to get my heat pumps fixed since the beginning of June and it took several months to finally get that worked out. The companies that they hire to come out, for the majority of the part, suck. It took me so long to get my heat pump fixed because the company that they had continuously been assigning me, even though I had asked for them to switch it, was claiming that they were coming out. I have cameras all around my house and they never showed up once. They were trying to charge me the fees for it when they never even looked at my heat pump. So, that was an issue. Finally, after arguing with them for months, I was able to get another company to come out who managed to fix my heat pump. But that's another issue.
AHS doesn't care about the contractors that they're hiring. They don't care that their customers are saying that their contractors are trying to charge me things that they never came out to do. AHS is a scam of a company trying to get out as much money as possible and not actually following through on their end the majority of the time.

I had a plumbing issue where water was barely trickling into the bowl. Between flushes, you would have to wait. I'm having my family of four coming for Christmas and they were going to be using that bathroom. It was totally unacceptable the way it was. I called American Home Shield and did a claim. Mario from American Plumbing came out a day earlier than we talked about and he was fantastic. He looked at the problem and went out to his van. He brought in a new part, installed it in just a few minutes, and we were done.
Mario was here once before. I was impressed with him then because he was very professional and he knew what he was doing. He took care of things and he was out the door. He was a very pleasant and nice man. I have another order pending on my heating for the winterization tune-up. I've got that rescheduled. Techs will be coming out a little after Christmas. I have been a customer of American Home Shield since 1994 in two different addresses.

For my claim with AHS, the dryer was stopping and going. Every once in a while it would hit again and work. But this time, it was pretty much dead when I called AHS. The tech came over. He wanted to take his shoes off. I told him not to bother. I left him in the room and went about doing something else. He called me and that was when he said it was not the dryer. It was where you plug it in. Something to do with the electric thing. What impressed me was when I called AHS back to say, "It wasn't that. It was the electric thing unit that it was plugged into," they didn't charge me to have that electrician come out and fix it. That blew me away. I'm very happy with AHS.

Whenever we turned the heating on, the smoke detector went off almost immediately. Then there was this burning smell. The tech from Royal Air was very pleasant and nice. There was a part that needed to be replaced. The part came in pretty quickly. We've had really good luck with AHS, except for one which just happened to be the most expensive thing that needs to be fixed. But everything else, we've had covered.

I received the plumbing service. And it was going to turn into a nightmare until I had to escalate it with American Home Shield, because they denied my claim. Am I satisfied with the work that the second plumber provided? Yes. He knew what to do. But am I satisfied with AHS' service? No. The wait time is too long. The staff follows written instructions on what to do and how to do it, rather than use some critical thinking and common sense. They’re trying to go by the book. If there’s another provider, I will leave them.

I had no power in my garage, and I couldn't figure out what the issue was so I used AHS. The electrician who came gave me some preventative maintenance tips for my breaker box. He also did something extra and installed the outlet in the ceiling for me, which the guy that installed our garage door didn't do. It helped make it a little safer there in the garage. American Home Shield has saved me hundreds of dollars. I'm very satisfied with it and I would definitely recommend it.

I called American Home Shield for the dryer that wouldn't come on. Sears came out and fixed it. It took a little while but that one was okay. The one I had problems with was my icemaker. A plumber came out, and he supposedly found an ice cube stuck in the wheel that turned around which stopped it from turning. That was the first false alarm. It still didn't work. American Home Shield sent Sears. They came out and replaced the whole icemaker. It still didn't work. American Home Shield was supposed to send another person to fix it. But it was past the 30 days so they told me I'd have to pay the $100 again. I'm not very happy with American Home Shield. I'm thinking of switching right now to another company.

My wife was there when the tech came out for the AC, and she was very pleased with him. But before he came out, we had another contractor come out and they flat lied to me and my wife about needing a new unit. But the second guy was honest. He was real nice to my wife. He explained to my wife what was going on and what we really need to do to fix the problem, instead of making us purchase stuff that wasn’t wrong with the unit. Everything seemed to be working fine. American Home Shield saved me a lot of money. The tech's visit here would have had me out of my pocket about $14,000 just because the first guy misled my wife for something that wasn't the problem.

My claim to American Home Shield was for a routine check on my furnace to be sure everything was fine. The techs discovered that I had a leak around the metal portion, and they welded it together and made it work.

It was a plumbing issue that I had most recently. It was a toilet. I can put a request either by calling or doing it online, but it's an easy process. I put the request in over the weekend and on that Monday, the contractor called and came out the same day. I had the same issue in March of this year. When the technician came out, he said what they did was replace one part of the mechanism that needed to be replaced. Apparently, it was two parts to it. So when they came out in March, they only replaced one part. And he said they should have just replaced both, because if one goes out, it wouldn't take long until the other part of the mechanism would go out as well. So, I was disappointed in that. Because I was charged another fee for something that could have been resolved in March, as compared to waiting a few more months knowing that the other piece would go out.
I like the comfort in knowing that if something goes wrong around my home, it’s covered. I can call American Home Shield and get the issue resolved. There's some comfort in knowing, just from a financial perspective. I have to pay the service fee but see it as an insurance policy in case something goes wrong around my home.

The Thanksgiving sales were going on so I bought a new thermostat for my home and I called American Home Shield to send someone to replace my thermostat. But the guy who came didn’t know what the issue was. First, he said, they don't change the thermostat. I said that I just called to change the thermostat and I don't have any issue with my heating system. I bought the Google Nest and he said that they don't do or don't know Google Nest. Even I didn't know how to set this up. But he helped me anyway. It was a small thing to change the thermostat but it was a good experience. I’m planning next year to order the duct cleaning through American Home Shield as well as my plumbing stuff and changing my faucets so I can get a better rate.

American Home Shield told me that I was gonna get a free service for the AC. When the guy came, he found a problem in the AC motor. He ordered the part then came and put it in. He knew his thing. However, it took a week and I didn't know it was going to take that long. Also he did not do the heater, the refrigerator and the stove which at the beginning they said they were gonna do. I'm a little unhappy about that but everything else was great. Overall, I'm happy with American Home Shield because it gives you a peace of mind.

Generally, American Home Shield has been fine. If something breaks down, it's more of that very typical insurance mentality that I have. It's convenient. The very last claim I had was when my air conditioner stopped. There was a sound from the heating mechanism, and the guy said there was nothing wrong. The guy was nice, and he checked it thoroughly. However, I had bad experiences too. I had A-US Air Conditioning come out, and they were all for the money. I paid them $5,000 for a new air conditioner and that air conditioner kept on having some problems, but they wouldn't cover it. They won't come. “Oh, no, this is not our problem.” Finally, I called American Home Shield and requested them to send someone else. The guy figured out that A-US didn't do the pipe wiring right.
A-US Air's interest was only to change the air conditioners, and after that, they didn't want to do anything. When they did the piping completely wrong, it created a lot of problems for me over and over again. It was 100% their fault, but I had to call somebody private and pay extra money. American Home Shield also got played into their hands. They were really bad people, and I told AHS that they need to take them out. A-US uses American Home Shield just to get their business.

I had a refrigerator that was freezing up. I did a claim to American Home Shield. They corrected that and did a good job. My dryer died and they fixed that, too. The techs were spot on and let us know when they were coming. They came on time and did a good job.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling. Submitting a claim online with AHS was really simple. The tech was very understanding because, at the time, I was working while she was working on the AC and I explained to her that I wouldn't be able to assist her that much. She allowed me to work while she was fixing the AC. When I was on the phone with the customer when she was leaving, she wrote me a letter telling me what was wrong with the AC. She did amazing. She got everything done in a timely manner. All I had to pay is $100, when the lady explained to me, without my home warranty, that repair would have been almost $500. I appreciate AHS so much. I am able to save some money with that coverage.

I'm not happy with American Home Shield. I don't know where their workers are from, but they're foreign, and sometimes, you can't understand them. Other times, you can. Then you make yourself very clear of what you need but then you won't get that when somebody comes out. You end up paying $85 for nothing. They also never cover anything. Once, the techs came out and they couldn't fix the inside of my toilet. But the plumber for my recent claim was okay. But the office, they'd tell me the window, and then the plumber wouldn't ever be there until way late. That was a scheduling issue because they were giving the plumber too much to do, so he couldn't really fit his schedule. Because the plumber came out, I met him, and he was a really nice guy.

When I first did a work order, I was assigned a contractor that was rude, disrespectful and didn't want to help. I called and informed American Home Shield of the situation, but they did nothing to fix the issue. They didn't want to change the contractor. The contractor had lied and said that they had gone to the house when they didn't. So in order for me to change the contractor, I would have to pay another 125 for work that was never done on the house. According to them, I would no longer have contact with that specific contractor, and I have placed another work order. I had them change it to a different one. And I called and scheduled with them. They called me two hours later, saying that the work order had been cancelled. I had to call back. I had to argue with them while they were changing it. And it was just the big ordeal trying to have it rechanged to the contractor that was originally set in place. It has been a headache having to go back and forth.

American Home Shield has been great so far, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone. I've done three claims, and the website was easy to use. The repair people are professional too. They were really good at their job, and they did the job quickly. My toilet was leaking recently, but it wasn't an internal plumbing problem with the drainage of it. It was the tank. The plumber tightened a few things and it fixed it.

I had a garbage disposal that quit working. I did a claim with American Home Shield and someone called. The process was easy. A tech then came out with the day and fixed it. The tech was fine and the garbage disposal is working now. I have peace of mind with my home warranty. But it's probably cheaper if I didn't have one.

The fan was not working in my living room area. Techs tried to fix the remote on the wall but could not fix the remote on the wall unit. They attempted to replace it but I was told that that model remote is no longer used. So they fixed it by putting it up and leaving me a remote control to the fan that I use to control the fan at night. Give American Home Shield some consideration. But be sure of what you looking for them to provide. There are certain limitations that'll come into play that you may not see when you first review the plan. But once you have a claim, they come up. For example, I didn't know that they only pay $10 towards Freon. Freon cost over $100. That is a very big disappointment.

I like the service. The part that I don't like is they will fix something but if something breaks after their contractor fixes it, American Home Shield doesn't take the responsibility of it. I had three refrigerators that I needed fixed. They had four different companies that came to my house to fix it. None of them knew how to fix one of the refrigerators. I had to take it back, and American Home Shield gave me money for it. That was good. But the problem was, when they connected the water hose to my refrigerator, that thing leaked and it flooded my whole kitchen and living room.
I told American Home Shield that the hose was broken. They needed to come out and fix it because they never fixed it right. They kept saying, “We’ll send that guy back.” But they waited 30 days. After 30 days, they said that they cannot send nobody back because it had been 30 days. They told me that they were gonna call me back and let me know what was going to happen. The way they sounded, they were gonna fix it. I waited two weeks. They did not call me back. In the meantime, my house was going bad. My floor swelled up. After a few weeks when I called back, they said they will not fix those. Because of that, I had to call my insurance company.

We did a repair before our recent claim with American Home Shield and the people who worked on that forgot to cut the string on the flush a little bit shorter. It was working but after the first repair, it stopped after some time. So we had to resubmit a request. The people who came yesterday cut it short and it started working after that. They explained all the programs and the work they did to fix the issue, and gave some advice. Everything is good now.

Having a home warranty gives peace of mind. I don't have to scramble and try to locate a repair person. If something breaks, I know it's going to be covered. American Home Shield is reliable and efficient. I did a claim when my garbage disposal was leaking and it went out. American Home Shield sent someone out to repair it and they were fantastic. My first claim, my dishwasher was leaking. Initially sent someone out to repair it but they didn't resolve the issue. A tech came out the second time and he was able to repair the dishwasher and it doesn't leak anymore.
My only complaint is the window they give you is just so wide like between 6 AM and 12 midnight. The window was so large that I had to leave out to make an appointment. I knew the tech was going to come as soon as I left the house. And that happened. When he called me, I let him know that I was en route and he waited for me. That was really nice of him. On the whole, the techs came out pretty quickly and they were fantastic. Their work ethic was good and they were efficient. Everything's working great.

We've used American Home Shield a lot. We like that we just call them and they schedule somebody to check out what's the problem. They've replaced two faucets for us. We've had some issues with our appliances and we've had really good experience down there with the people they send out. We've been lucky with the AHS down in Port Aransas. We like them and I'm getting ready to renew it.
The faucet was loose in the bathtub in the front bathroom and in our master bath, the handle of the faucets in the garden tub was stripped. Then, one of the faucets in the master was frozen and it leaked a little. ASAP Plumbing came out and had to order the parts, and came back out. We had to figure out when we didn't have renters in there for them to come out. We're in low season now so they were out recently to finish that and did a great job. The timing was great. The techs came when they said they were going to. We set up a time and they said between 9:00 and 11:00, and they called as they were heading our way. We spoke to the people and visited with them, and they were good.
We had to re-call and it was past the 30 days. They said on our plumbing, but then when they went back and looked at the time that it was actually ordered, the part was ordered, we were within our time. So, they didn't charge me for them to come back out, which is good too. I had another problem with my dishwasher in that they came out because I couldn't read my panel. So, the techs came out and replaced it. Then, about 20 days later, my daughter was down there and she said the door just slammed open. So, I called and they sent the guy back out. The guy was fixing my door and he said he saw something that was sticking and he cleaned it out. The spring sprung on that. So, it wouldn't be the stuff that I called about, but the guy came back out and fixed it and it's working great.

Extreme Air and another American Home Shield company came out for my air conditioner. In the summer, Extreme Air came and fixed it, but when wintertime came, the unit wouldn't kick in. So when I called to get services, I asked for another company, not the first company that came. When the second company came, they said they could not resolve the problem, because whatever Extreme Air did, it was something that they would have to reverse. American Home Shield had to transfer the ticket back to Extreme Air to come back out and resolve the problem. They came back, and now I have heat. My issue was resolved, but I don't know come summer if I would have my air back because it seems like one kicked out the other.

American Home Shield sent Whitney and I was telling them when they came to do the power how the light was flickering sometimes. The tech said he fixed the problem, but the problem has not been resolved because it still is jumping. So, there must be something that's not connected right. I showed them how we were doing upstairs. It was the same flickering, but he suggested that they needed the light thing to be changed because they're outdated. That still has nothing to do with the lights. They go from dark to bright. He said he went out and turned the power off on the side of the house, and then he came back inside and fixed one switch, and he said it was hooked up wrong inside the switch.
I did the claim to American Home Shield by phone. It was very difficult to get in contact with a representative. When I got through, they just told me someone would give me a call. I still had to reach out to them. As of now, I'm still waiting for them to see when they're gonna send someone out about the situation because it has not been resolved. They just said someone will be contacting me once they get the parts. Also, the tech said that they charge the clients for them to do the repairs. Overall, I'm not happy with the service.

The water line main switch was leaking inside the wall and water was building up. It was a very slow leak that eventually started seeping through the wall and created some mold and some water damage. When I put the claim in, AHS put me in contact with an expert plumber and he came out and assessed that it was more than just a plumbing situation. It's also going to be some mold treatment and repairs to the wall. The contractor was knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt. They came by the same day after contacting me. They were really great to work with.

The service of AHS has been great. Two of our burners were not working on the stove recently. I called AHS and it was easy to submit a claim. The claims rep was great. They emailed and sent me a text message with the contractor’s information. The tech that came out talked us through exactly what he was doing. He was very knowledgeable and his customer service was very good.

The dryer was not working. American Home Shield sent somebody to fix it. The guy who came to fix it said some part was not working, so he replaced the part and it started working. But when our refrigerator broke down, the tech that came out wasn't very professional about it. AHS sent somebody else and then he fixed it.

The latest claim that I submitted to American Home Shield was the duct cleaning and I read that it was part of our contract that they do it for free, but then we paid for it, and I haven't had it done because they don't really do that. I submit my claims online. There's a lot of chaos on the website. I'm a little frustrated with some of it. There's not much information. I just received the contractor's name and number. We're thinking about leaving American Home Shield because of it.

My freezer and refrigerator had broken down. I submitted a claim online with AHS and then PJ Appliance called me. It was great. However, it's an up-and-down experience with American Home Shield. At one point, I didn't have access to a dishwasher. It took them six months to get the thing fixed. With my recent claim, I didn't have access for two weeks to a freezer. A lot of times, with the parts, it takes too long.

I was having problems with the roll on the washer. It kept making a big noise and the washer moved out of place. A company came to fix the problem of the balance in the washer. I had to call American Home Shield when I did the claim because there was maintenance on the website. It has never happened to me and it was just this time. I tried twice and it didn't go through, which was why I decided to call and do it with a representative. But everything went well. The communication and the timing were perfect. The only thing was that after the contractor came to repair the washer, I encountered a new problem when I used it. After I was done washing, the area where you put the softener and the soap was full of water. So everything stayed in place and it didn't actually wash my clothes. And even though I put the cool temperature for the water, it came out hot. So every time I opened my washer, you could feel the hot water.
The contractor was good and was very prompt in calling, and the timeline was accurate. When they say they were going to come, they came, so I have no complaint about that. The only thing was that they were in a hurry and the guy misplaced the hot and the cold water, and that created a whole new problem. Mistakes happen and it's okay. But the thing is that we called and my husband left a voicemail, but they never responded back. So, my husband had to fix it. He had to take off the washer, move the cold and the hot and put it in place. After that, it was working. My husband had to finish the job so we paid for half service. I like the promptness from AHS. We've put several claims before and the service has been great through their part and the contractors are the only setback with this. Before this, everything was perfect.

I just had an electrician out to replace an electrical outlet that went bad. He was very nice. Also, American Home Shield has done some good improvements. With the way they're doing it currently reflects the changes.

I am not pleased with AHS. I've had a request for a refrigerator pending for over six months. I've called numerous times over the course of months. There were some parts that were supposed to be ordered, but then the parts are no longer available. And because the contractor never uploaded a report, every time I call, they put me through the same process. The representative acts as if it's the first time I'm calling and they have no clue. They insist that they have to repeat the same process and they call the contractor to ask them.
It's the 25th time I'm calling them and they should have notes documenting that the contractor is not willing to submit a report or cannot submit a report. The system blocked them out. It's beyond the date. They should have that in their system. Every time, they tell me they're escalating it and I should get a call back within 24 hours, 72 hours, by the end of the day. But most of the times, I don't get a callback. One time I got a callback, but I was told, “It looks like it's gonna take a little bit longer. I'll call you again tomorrow.” Never called back.
This is a pretty serious improvement that's needed because I don't know why I am having this problem. Other people have told me that they've had very good experiences. If they can't fix it, they replace it or give you some cash credit. My daughter and nephew experienced that. For some reason, in my scenario, in this one case, I can't get an outcome or conclusion out of them. I don't know what's going on. I'm still very frustrated.

We've had four work orders in the last month with AHS. One of them is still being worked on. Three of them have been completed. They really came through on our refrigerator. It was a weekend when the refrigerator went out. When I talked Monday morning to the company that was assigned, it was clear that they were scrambling, had someone ill, and couldn't even tell me for sure if they could get some of them on Wednesday. By this time, I had to throw everything out in our refrigerator.
They suggested I call American Home Shield, which I hate to do because nothing ever gets done and I'm always on hold for an hour, and then they hang up 'cause I'm not allowed to be on hold for an hour. But I tried. I was able to get ahold of someone within 10 minutes and that person kept me on the line while they arranged another place to come out Tuesday morning, which was really great. That person ended up calling us Monday evening and asked if we were going to be around, and came and fixed it on Monday evening.
But we have not had good experiences a lot of the time. We went an entire July with no AC in Texas. The dryer took a month to fix. The other two things took a week. One of them is taking two weeks because of a part. We had a microwave that was going out and every six months, they were coming to fix the same problem and they fixed the same problem five times. They wouldn't replace it, so we just did.
Financially, AHS is a benefit. You get what you pay for, which is we have a budget and we can meet that budget because we know that American Home Shield is there. However, there is a lot of time and stress that accompanies having that financial benefit that we - if we had more money, could do it on our own and have less stress.

We've had American Home Shield for a while. We've dealt with them a lot with issues here and there. It's not bad, overall. We had a stove that got damaged. A guy came out and said it couldn't be fixed, so I had to replace it. American Home Shield had replacements that they suggested that would work, but unfortunately, it never came in stock. After a year, we ended up finding a replacement and bought it ourselves then we got the check from American Home Shield in lieu of the actual item.
I wish American Home Shield was more open to allowing the customer to use their own companies that are licensed and insured. I had a good company come out for the AC initially, on my own, because they were already the name that was on the AC. I asked American Home Shield if they could use them but they don't allow that at all. It's hit or miss with their contractors. We had one that came out for our microwave, and they were horrendous. When I looked them up online, everyone said how terrible they were. They don't have a real number or get back to you after the fact. But the last one we had come out was at the top. They've been good for the AC that we're still trying to get fixed.

70% of the cases, I call American Home Shield for a claim and somebody reaches out to me. They show up within a reasonable time frame. It's hard to get contractors nowadays but they seem to prioritize AHS customers. Recently, a contractor checked out my furnace that wasn't working. They serviced it but couldn't find anything. A week later, it stopped working. They came back, and something needs to be replaced.
30% of the time, it's a contractor who I don't hear from. Then I would keep calling American Home Shield. Sometimes, it's the contractor who refuses and says it's too far or the dispatch assignment didn't go smooth. It's not a fluid process. Somebody came for furnace repair two months ago. I had a new furnace repair and it would be nice if American Home Shield could go back and see who did the furnace so they have continuation. But they assigned somebody who was very far from my home. They didn't call me back for several days. I had to call American Home Shield back. They canceled on me, and out of the blue, there was a new assigned contractor. I called American Home Shield again. They said that the contractor had pulled out and didn't wanna do the call.
It's long every time I call American Home Shield. I have to always count on 15 minutes to half an hour just to put in a request. Sometimes, I cannot understand the reps. I feel that I keep repeating my claim. Also, I've run into it where one person will say it's not covered then the next person will say it's covered, or it's the other way around. It would be nice if they get trained a little bit more before they start working on the phone. You get put on hold too. Yesterday, I called two times. I got the same girl, but she couldn't hear me. Initially, I called her for a claim. When we were processing the claim, she put me on hold. She came back but couldn't hear me. I called back, it happened again. I called back for a third time and got somebody that could hear me.

The techs have been out three times for the same thing but they can't fix the dryer. They told me they replaced some parts of the dryer. But it's still doing the same thing. They came out again. The first guy told me, "That's just the way it is." The second guy said, "Replace parts." The third guy also told me I need to replace the outside vent, which is not right either. It's still doing the same thing. I called them back and they said, "That's what they said to do and that's just the way it is." They're not doing anything about it anymore. It's frustrating.

I did my own research and chose American Home Shield because I liked the promo. I also checked Better Business Bureau statistics and complaints. My real estate agent was promoting a different company, but I told her I was more comfortable with American Home Shield because I was more familiar with it. In California, where I sold my condo, we can offer American Home Shield as the home warranty during home sales. My only complaint is I'm getting too many emails and phone calls.
For this home, I've already taken advantage of the rekey service. That was exceptional, because otherwise, the policy is you have to wait 30 days, then if there's an issue, your warranty comes into play. To be able to do the rekey right away makes perfect sense to me, and the guy that came out was solid. In fact, we made an appointment for Tuesday, but I got called in to work and had to reschedule. He was very flexible with me, and we found a time that worked. He arrived early and went straight to work. He was friendly too. A couple of the locks that he was replacing, I told him, "These are really sticky. I don't know what's going on with them." I liked that they were all rekeyed to one key. It was much more convenient.

The washer wasn't draining or spinning and the clothes will stay wet. So, I had to drain it. I called the guy and he replaced the motherboard. Four days later, after I went to wash again, the same thing happened. It didn't want to work. So, I had to wring our clothes and I had to drain about three gallons of water. The guy came back out and checked it. He said it wasn't fixable. The motherboard had been fried up again and he had a hard time finding parts. I was sent an email to choose from another washer and I did already. It's not the same thing or the same color or brand. But if I had to pay no money, that's good. I’ll just pick one. American Home Shield is a learning experience for me. They’ll explain things you don't know. I liked that it’s a monthly fee and if something goes wrong, they’ll fix the appliance for free or they'll replace it.

With AHS, I like the convenience of having the multi-package for the home. It's nice that you can call someone out and they cover you with what you need to be done quickly. Being able to not worry about plumbing and it also does HVAC and other appliances too. Recently, we had an issue with one of our water heaters. The plumber came out and checked it. Then the next issue was, our toilet overflowed and flooded our upstairs and came down through our ceiling fan of everything. We had them check the toilet line to make sure nothing was clogged from the upstairs line going down through it.

I put an online request in. Their website was intuitive. It was good. They gave me the name of the contractor and their phone number, so I could make an appointment. I was going to be in and out of town. So it was better for me to make the appointment than for them to try and do it. The guy that came out was good. He was efficient, fast, and polite. Overall, American Home Shield was a good deal for us. We've had a couple of repairs along the way and sooner or later, there would be more. It's not that expensive for what you get.

For my recent claim with AHS, I went onto their website and I told them I had a leaky pipe. They found a company that was around my house and sent them out. But it wasn't a leaky pipe where the drywall fell. It was in the bathroom. It was the toilet upstairs and the water was just running down the pipe. They charged me the 125 bucks for them to come out, and then they fixed it. I also had the freezer die. The techs came and fixed it, 125 bucks. They left. But I said, "The problem was the door is bent so it doesn't seal at the bottom. That's why it keeps going out." The tech came back, didn't charge me another 125 bucks, and sent it in, "This isn't fixable." AHS gave me a $1,422 gift card to Lowe's. I had an option of picking the refrigerators that they had or getting a check after I bought one. They've been great.

My oven went out. I submitted a claim over the phone with AHS. Their customer service has always been good. The tech that came out was really good. He was confident and knew what he was doing. One time, my dryer went out. The same company came out. The gentleman fixed the dryer but he left dents in it and scratches. He also didn't clean up behind himself. I took pictures and sent them to American Home Shield. They responded right away. The same gentleman came back. Not only did he get his dents out, but there was also a dent that my brother did when he was on his knees trying to fix a light. I told him that was already there and he fixed that one too. They took care of it right away. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield and the companies that they use.

They did an excellent job and provided the services. The contractor they sent out was quick and efficient and did their job. The water stopped running in the faucet. It had some motion detection device and I had them switch it to manual only because I've had this problem in the past.

I called American Home Shield and their rep took care of my concern. It was for the belt to the dryer. The gentleman that came by was fantastic. I really liked him. He did his job and was really clean, nice, neat, and very respected. I highly recommend his company. As far as AHS, for what I spend paying their insurance, I have to come out of pocket. So, I'm losing money and I'm not impressed with them. I’m not gonna have them as insurance anymore. I started noticing that every time I called, I had to dish out another 100 and something dollars. I think I'm wasting more money in having the insurance policy, plus having someone come out here and charge me. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

I've used AHS one time for a washing machine. The circuit board was going out in it. Everything was good. The tech explained to us everything he was gonna have to do. He had to order the parts and come back. He was really nice.

This is my second year with American Home Shield. The first year was part of the deal when we bought the house, and the second year, I renewed because the experiences have been fine. Their pricing is a little high, but other than that, the service has been okay. The last time they came out was for my heating unit. It stopped working. I made a request online and got a response within 24 hours, then the guy came out the next day and fixed the problem. He was great. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, polite, and very neat. He put booties on when he came in the house.

With AHS, I like the peace of mind that if an appliance goes out, I don't have to come up with an amount of money that might be uncomfortable to come up with all at once. Recently, my swimming pool heater would not operate. I called AHS at 9 in the morning and they said they would contact me within the day. Their contractor called 30 minutes later and said they would be out by noon. I explained the situation and told the rep I wouldn't be home. The tech called at 1 in the afternoon and said that the electronic board that ran the heater was out. He replaced that and the heater was operating.
Communication with AHS was very good. They use very good contractions who know what they're doing and are able to diagnose and fix problems. When the field technician says, “This can't be fixed,” they replace the items with quality equipment and with no hassle. I had a little over a year-old Bosch, you know, high-end dishwasher that went out due to a power surge. The tech said they don't make parts for those and he replaced it with a high-end KitchenAid. It was just my $100 deductible and it was over.

A part in my dishwasher was not working and the unit was not washing correctly. That was replaced and the dishwasher is washing now. My oven was also cracked and American Home Shield ended up replacing that stovetop for me with something that's about the same style. The oven is perfect and it's been working great. The technicians were really professional and they helped me out.

The AC wasn't coming on. When the contractor came out, the tech found that the motor fan was not working. So, he put a new one in. And everything has been great since. I'll use them again. American Home Shield's customer service is good. They are the best thing to go with. I’ve had a couple appliances in my home mess up. And they have been Johnny-on-the-spot. That's the best insurance I've had for anything.

American Home Shield is worth the money. I have peace of mind with my experience with them. I had a blockage in a toilet and the repair guys were great. After three times, it's finally fixed. I know the people in the office were pressured but they weren't the nicest.

We had some leaky faucet issues and a disposer issue. It was a combination of things. We let them build up and then called American Home Shield, and Janicek's Plumbing came out. I wasn't a fan of homeowner warranties but my daughter lives at this house and we're glad it’s there. American Home Shield is doing a great job and it's the second year that we’ve renewed it.

The hinges came off the garage door. The tech reset the hinges and told us that maybe the rollers need to be replaced, but that could be done at a later date. The service was good. However, I had an issue with the water heater that exploded. We put the claim in. When people finally came out, which took them a while, the first individual installed it incorrectly. PG&E came out and inspected and found a gas leak. And at that time, we tried to get someone else, but American Home Shield would not allow that to happen. We will go to another place as soon as the contract ends.

We had a good experience with American Home Shield right up until we had a claim for the washer. A young kid came out and I don't think he had a clue what he was doing because he was googling the washer online to see what the part would be that he had to order. He ordered all these parts and the parts came here, and they were supposed to come. I took the day off, but they never came. So I called and I was told that I never had an appointment. But I know I did because I did it online, which was the way I was told to do it. So then, they send him back to do the parts. He had told me he wouldn't be the one coming back, but a technician would be coming back. But it was him that came back.
He put everything in and it doesn't work, so he claims it was the motor. So this is after three weeks. Now, it's gonna be another two weeks before the part possibly could be in. It was gonna be after Thanksgiving. I had a house full of people coming for Thanksgiving, and no washer to do any bedding. I was having a hissy fit about it. They ended up saying they were gonna replace it. That was fine, except they didn't tell me that. It's just lack of communication all the way around. So they're waiting for me to call them and see if I was gonna accept their exchange. It was very confusing and upsetting.
In the meantime, my husband went out and got a washer for me. Then we find out that American Home Shield wanna do a cash out of about $400 but I paid $800 for the washer, so I was irritated at that to begin with. But I picked the cash-out, which is supposed to be here. I called the other day and they were supposed to be sending it out. It was very upsetting to the point where my husband wanted me to cancel the program because he said it was too much hassle. Every time something's wrong, you don't know who's coming or what's coming.

I sent in a claim for my ceiling fan. When you flip the switch, the fan would come on, but the light wouldn't, which was odd. When the tech came, he got up to the fan. He thought it was something up there, but it wasn't. It ended up being in the wall switch. But he fixed it and it's fine now. I also had a claim for my garage door when it wasn't opening. The contractor came out and fixed that. It was an old part that they couldn't get anymore so they just put in a new opener, and that's working great now, too.

I've had to use AHS several times over the last year and they've been very kind and quick. I live in a remote area, so not a lot of the big city services really want to come out. They always answer the phone, even though you have to wait a little while. You could also always understand what they were saying. They were quick in getting somebody out and sending the appointment. The follow-up was wonderful, too. They've chosen good companies because I was very happy with the plumbing company they sent me. They had to come out once, but that didn't do it, so I called the American Home Shield and they sent them back out and were able to take care of it the second time, which is okay.

I had one claim for plumbing issues and there were a couple of different things and everything went well and got everything fixed. In talking with the plumber, it would have been $700 to do all the work but it was just the deductible for 125 with American Home Shield. I made the claim online with American Home Shield and then, the repair guy called later that day to set up a time. It was prompt service. Everything was good to this point and I'm happy with the service from AHS.

My washing machine was broken. American Home Shield makes the claim process very simple. You go online and tell them the reason why you're submitting your claim. You make your payment and based on my experience, I get my calls the same day from the provider of the service. For my washing machine, the provider called and said that they would come out in two days. They came out and were very professional. I love them. They were very nice and they didn't make me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. I'm a woman in my own house. That was good. I ended up getting a new dryer. American Home Shield is amazing. During COVID when I really couldn't afford the home waranty, they lowered my payments so I could keep coverage on my house, which is important because everything in here is on its last useful legs. American Home Shield is worth every penny.

Some type of pressure valve went out on my boiler and the heat wasn't going to my second floor. The contractor that American Home Shield sent had to come back a second time but the first time the gentleman came, he was very knowledgeable and got the heat going in some ways I wouldn't be without heat at all. Then he told me that they would have to order a part to be replaced. He explained the whole thing and he was very good. They came back a lot sooner than what he had originally had told me. He said they're busy but it was no more than a difference of maybe three days. Everything is working great now.

I discovered yesterday that I have a leak underneath the sink and I don't know when it occurred. Somebody shut the water off so I didn’t notice it. The contractor was supposed to come out today but they didn’t. But they’ve been here one time before and they were okay. They did a good job. We own the house but my daughter is living in it and sometimes, AHS would put her off. Last year, her heater went out and she called on a Friday. They told her it was gonna be a Tuesday before they could get out. The temperature outside was in the 10s and 20s so it wasn't acceptable. Heat is an important commodity. AHS should work on their response times and put more of a heaviness on things like sewer blockages. When you got a water stoppage, you can't wait four days for the contractor to come out. Because it's easier just to call Mr. Rooter and get them to come out. You get it a lot quicker.

I told the claims rep that my dishwasher was not working and usually, she would ask a model number. But this time, she didn't. She told me if the technician needs that information, he will ask me himself. The contractor contacted me himself so I did not have to do anything. Everything was very easy. He said the storage container under the sink was close to the outlet box and that caused the plug to burn. Everything is working well now. We have renewed AHS for three years and we have been very satisfied.

The heater was blowing cold air and we wanted to make sure it was working properly. The tech came to inspect it and found that the heat strips that were supposed to kick in when the unit goes on were not working. He was very polite and informative. He let us know everything that he was doing before he did it. When we first started using AHS, he had a couple of difficulties. But using them online is much more streamlined. If you're gonna book appointments and things, just do it online. It's a lot easier. We like that we can get somebody to come at a time that's convenient for us because we don't have the traditional Saturday and Sunday off. For the most part, we've been able to get the appointments for the days that we need.

My fridge was leaking water, and the techs came out quick. It was good. The fridge had another issue where water was not dispensing and they also fixed that, but then that stopped working again. However, it was not leaking so I didn’t call for a follow-up. My heater stopped working one day, so I called somebody for that too. This is my first time to have a home warranty, and the benefit is peace of mind. When I call American Home Shield, they find people to come do the service for me. Otherwise, I wouldn't know who to call because I'm new to the area. I prefer submit service requests online, but it's limited as to the categories that I can select. Sometimes I don't know under what category I should select or the help that I need is not listed, and in that case, I will call over the phone, then that person will select which category.

I like the quickness of everything with American Home Shield. They could work on the phone situation though. You got to push so many buttons to get through this and that. If you're looking for something different than service, it takes you through a lot to get to it. But when I call and need service, I get it. In my claim for the refrigerator, the contractor called right away. I missed the call the first time. I called and left a message, and they called me back. The tech changed the seal around the door and then, he changed the circuit board. He had to order the part but it was quick. He came on a Friday and came back on Monday. He was professional and communicative.

They came out for our furnace and it took two weeks for them to get the part in. I was without heat for two weeks without heat and it was a little hard. But the tech was great. We had to call them back after they put the part in because it worked when he left but by the evening, it started getting loud. He came back out that following Monday and something was loose and he was able to fix that. Home Shield has been well worth it for me. The only part is the waiting part. I know we have to go through the process but overall, it's been good.

I really like AHS. They're great and they're ten times better than others I had. They ask you about checking stuff when winter came and give you ideas about what you should check and instructions on how to check stuff. My kitchen faucet was broken recently. The techs came when they were supposed to. It was great. They had to replace it. They had the parts. Everything works fine now.

It was a great thing that I was able to schedule the appointment through the app. It was helpful, especially because I made the appointment on a Saturday, which was when it happened. I didn't have hot water so the repair guy came and fixed it. He went right to solve the problem, so I like it. We have hot water now. It’s just the guy didn’t have one of the parts that it needs so he was going to submit it to get it replaced. But I haven't heard anything from the guy or from American Home Shield about that.

Every single claim I've ever attempted to made with them they've denied. The one they did end up covering, I had to FIGHT for. The contractors they send out are unprofessional and don't know what they're doing most of the time. I've been waiting a month for my stove to be fixed. They keep ordering parts and not fixing it. I've called to complain and ask for a new contractor several times but they just repeat themselves like robots and provide no help AT ALL. They refuse to let you speak to a supervisor and robotically speak at you and don't listen to a thing you're saying. DO NOT buy a home warranty from this company. It's a waste of money and you'll be at their mercy if you ever need anything fixed.

I'm feeling good about American Home Shield. You pay the monthly fee and $125 every time you have a claim, and that's all I've paid on anything. I've had to get a new refrigerator and I’ve had two visits to fix my air conditioning unit and the heating unit. The tech had to come back a second time for the heating unit and put a whole new board and a bunch of other stuff in. But I've not been charged anything else and everything has been quick. As soon as I tell American Home Shield that I need something done, they get the work order in and somebody's here within a couple of days. So, I've not had any issues with them at all so far and I'm very pleased with them. It's all been perfect. Everybody that they've sent has been professional and good. I found my heat and air guy from AHS. It's on my sheet that if I ever call AHS and they call the heating and air, that he's the one to come.
We bought this house in 2017 and we had another home warranty but they didn’t offer anything and I didn’t realize that. My wife’s friend recommended AHS. Her entire air conditioning unit went out and AHS replaced it. It didn’t cost her a dime other than the monthly payments and the 125. For the first initial call, it covered everything, because she had the premium package. So, we got AHS and I got the premium package, which covers all electronics and everything in the house. But I'm not gonna call them over for certain things like a printer. I’d just buy one. It's been awesome for the refrigerator. Because you're talking two grand for a refrigerator, right out of pocket. Just with the refrigerator alone, it’s way more than paid for what I've already paid in the service fees and in the monthly.
This winter, we had an issue with the furnace and the tech had to come back out again. I have gas on top of a heat pump and the unit is in terrific shape. He said that most units that's been in this long would have already started messing up and that my unit’s been well taken care of. I said that I change the filters every month and I do all the maintenance that’s supposed to be done. And the people that were here beforehand had done the same exact thing. But there was an issue with the board and the thermostat. Something wasn't working right together so we had a bunch of electric outages here. It would go out every day and I called the electric company and the guy said there were squirrels getting in the lines. Once or twice a day, the electric would go out. It was messing with that old board that was on the furnace. So the tech had to replace that, put a switch on the outside and then, replace the thermostat.
When the tech came the first time, he didn't have the stuff. So he had to come back a couple of days later, which was perfectly fine. But he did get the heat working and everything was fine to get me tidy over till he came back and actually fixed it for good. I had to call American Home Shield again for him to come back and they never charged me another fee, because it was only within the same thing. So, I was happy about that because with some of the things that I was used to in the past, they would have taken the opportunity to say it’s a whole other call so it's gonna be 125 bucks. But it wasn't like that at all. The rep said they write up the next work order and have him back out. So, the tech came back out and fixed it, and left.
My daughter bought a house last year and we had remodeled it in February. It had been sitting for 10 years so we got down and got the air conditioning unit stuff working. I said that the air conditioning unit was probably on its last legs. So, she should get ahold of American Home Shield and tell them what's going on, see what she needs to do and get the premium because it's not a matter of if but a matter of when it's gonna go out. She got on the phone and got in touch with AHS, and was honest with them and told them exactly what was going on. She ended up with a premium plan. Two months ago, the air conditioning unit went out completely. The techs came out and she paid $125.
Lee is the one that does all my stuff and he went down there, looked at it and told them that the whole thing gotta be replaced. She asked if she needed to get ahold of and he said no. He showed her on his little pad that she was covered. They were just going to replace it. He got to order it and then they’ll have a crew come in. It would take about a day and a half, and they would have it put in for her. It never cost her another dime after that. So I've been recommending American Home Shield to everybody I work with and talk to. But I don't recommend the entry level plan. I recommend the premium because if anything goes wrong, they pay for it all and you're not out any more money at all. Everything that AHS said that they were going to do, they've done. Everything that was listed in what I read when I bought it has been true so far.

We had the garage and the refrigerator broken at the same time within a week of each other. The first experience of the guy that came out for the refrigerator was horrible. He had no business card. He didn't have any indicator on his little personal car. I have no idea who the strange man was coming to my house. My 84-year-old dad was visiting and he was so rude to us. I also couldn’t understand his English. He was condescending and he didn't fix the compressors. The guy just left.
The parts came in this week. But we went almost a month without a refrigerator. The problem was they sent somebody out that doesn't do anything around compressors for their fridge, so we had to wait two more weeks for a new company to come out. But the garage guy was wonderful and fabulous. He gave us his card and was very personable. For the AE Sears, I got a picture of what the tech looked like and the guy said, “Give it a day and the refrigerator should be working.” He was professional, too.

When I call American Home Shield to request for something, I can’t understand the people on the other side of the line. American Home Shield is based in Memphis, but their call center’s overseas. They don’t know what an HVAC is. I got to looking at the policy. They cover so many things that it’s not even funny. The policy we've got right now is $45 a month. That would be $540 a year. A new central heat and air unit can cost you anywhere between $6,500 to $12,000. They cover refrigerators too. We've had to have our refrigerator worked on so many times. Thank goodness, I know a good refrigerator repairman.
Fletcher Heating and Air came out recently to do a complete central heat and air unit replacement. They got here, ordered one in the afternoon, and left at 5 o'clock. Everything was running. With this particular unit, I asked Fletcher, "Does this come with a new thermostat”? They said it didn't so I said, “Let's upgrade then.” Ecobee is the thermostat that I got. You can control it with your phone, your tablet, or your PC from home or anywhere in the country. One of the best things about it is it’s got a feature on it that I can tap, and it brings up the weather for where I live.

I had an electrical issue, and the service tech was very helpful and had very good customer service. We have small kids, and he followed the instructions that were provided about coming to the home and making sure that there were no shoes on the carpet. He was very respectful and considerate, as well as informative. The only improvement I can think of is American Home Shield could be a little more detailed or concise regarding what will be covered and what is not.

We had an issue with the first claim we made. I would recommend them to a friend for other things, but I don't know if I would recommend them for bigger items. Our air conditioner quit working and they didn't want to fix it. We paid for the 120 or whatever deductible for our HVAC, and they refused to fix it. So, we had to turn around and fix it on our own. But we've used them two other times for an electrical thing and for our garage door opener, and they were great those two times. I got online and submitted the claim with American Home Shield for somebody to come out and look at our garage door opener. The person came out in not even two days. He was great. Everything is now perfect and like it should be.

I’ve had issues in the past, and I just went on American Home Shield's website and submitted a claim. It has this check-off deal where the consumer can select what the problem is, if it's an oven, a refrigerator or something else. I had a service request for my oven, and I checked which brand it was. They took my $100 for the service fee, then somebody reached out to us and scheduled a home visit within a few days. When the techs came by, they looked at it. It turned out that I made an error. It was the first time I ever had a convection oven, and the repair man taught us a lot about the appliance. I never had a manual for it. It was just there when we bought the house.
I've been working with American Home Shield for quite some time now, and I’ve been extremely satisfied. They're great. I’ve had friends that have had them who said "Oh, I've had horrible experience." I've never asked them about their experience, but I can understand their frustration. It’s just that they base it off of an emotion rather than a consumer’s product that in the long run is a good deal.

The furnace wasn't heating in the house and the techs had to check it out. They changed a part, but it didn't resolve the issue. I ended up having to get it replaced and I didn't choose to go through that process with them.

When you call AHS, the contractors come fairly quick. The plumbing guy came the same day and the pool heating guy came the very next day. They were very professional. They were very, very nice, and they did what they were supposed to do. The service is great, but the service call fee is a little high at125 bucks. Other than that, I'm happy so far.

I have two claims with AHS that are pending, one of which I just reinstituted because they did not follow through. I called the same firm back. It appears that they are going to do something now. But they were a little slow on the uptake and it was all over a screw for my oven. One of the things AHS told me early on was their supplier could not get his product from where he was getting it from. What was expected was that they would keep me in the loop. Instead, I was the one that had to initiate a phone call to ask a question rather than have them say to me they were having trouble getting this item but I was still on the books.
Up to that point, everybody and everything that we have used AHS for has been incredibly well done and very professional. I continue to up my renewal for AHS and I wouldn't do that if I didn't feel like it was a good investment on our part. They recently put in a water heater for us and the crew that they had was awesome. Because they didn't take care of it the first time around, we were not charged for the second visit. It all came under our contract that we have that if AHS can't fix it, they’d replace it. That cost much less money than if we were going to have to go out and buy a new one.
I certainly recommend AHS to people that I know, if they haven't heard of them before. I tell them to look into AHS because it's working for us. I've been with them for almost three years and I'm happy. I had a girlfriend that spoke very highly of them out of Westchester. She told me that I should sign up and that the home warranty pays for itself even if it is $100 a month. That was a good move on our part. I can always get a hold of somebody. Also, their time in getting back to me does not even fall under the category of lengthy, but it does take a couple of days for me to get into the queue. Their response is incredible and they back up the product that they're selling.

Sears was dispatched to fix my electric range and the tech was very good. But he didn’t find anything. Right now, if you stand and play with the range, you have to keep moving the dial to keep it turning on. Still, I've had nothing but good experience with American Home Shield. The techs come out within 48 hours and usually fix the problem.

American Home Shield is responsive and they’ve honored their guarantees. If something isn’t fixable, they replace it without any issue. I’ve had at least two major appliances repaired over the years and they have given me a fair price for it. And I was able to buy a new product when they couldn't fix it. So, I've never had an issue. My pool timer wasn't working and the techs were great. They fixed it the same day and it’s working perfectly now. I love AHS so far. It's been excellent all these years and maybe I’ve had some trouble getting calls through once but even that was corrected. You can call and you get someone on the phone right away.

I had someone come out here on the 23rd of November for my clothes dryer. It wouldn't work. First, the only thing it would do was work on high. Then it would clang, clang, clang, and then it wasn't getting warm. So the guy came out. It needed a belt. So he had to order it and then come back. On the 23rd, he fixed it.

The contractor came out several times. Once for different stuff with my toilets. My toilets are original, so they all needed floats. Then they came out Monday this week for a thermocouple in my hot water heater. They came out very quickly. I was impressed. They're a small company but their customer service is A1.

My water heater went out and the tech from D2 Plumbing came out. He was real prompt. I called in the morning and he came out that same day. He checked to make sure that I really needed one and he came out the next day and replaced it. AHS covered the water heater but because they didn't make the water heater that I had installed originally, I had to get a different one, which took some extra costs.
I had a washing machine go out earlier in the year, which they were pretty prompt with, but the biggest thing was the delivery of that washer. The company, J.B. Hunt set up a date with me and I took off work. The company failed to call me and tell me that it was changed because their driver didn't show up. They rescheduled for two days later but nobody showed up two days later. I waited and I called and it was never scheduled. I had a really bad experience with J.B. Hunt.

I mainly had drains that were super clogged up. The techs were here the next morning. They snaked them, cleaned them out, and were gone. They were clean, quick, and got their paycheck easily. They had longer snakes than the one that I got. They just knocked it out real quick. They were also very polite and professional.

The techs did a great job with the fridge and the dishwasher and I didn't have any problem with the guy that was doing the garbage disposal. But I just found out they're leaking bad. He put the garbage disposal in last Thursday but didn't realize it was leaking until my wife looked under there and saw water down in the bottom of the cabinet. We had to put something on there to catch the water. The claim was closed with the contractor but American Home Shield had to submit a repair order. So, I'm waiting for someone to come out and take care of it. They said someone will be here Friday between 2:00 and 6:00.

The washing machine just went out. One Sunday, I was washing, and then it started making a funky noise. I decided to give American Home Shield a call. Their representative was very professional. Every time I submitted a claim with AHS, they are very courteous and professional. They told me who it was that was coming and told me to look for a call from them within 24 hours. The contractor sent me an email before 24 hours. They were also very professional. They came in, they called me and they told me what they found, and they told me they would have to get in touch with my home warranty company. They told me they had to order the part, and said as soon as the part gets back, they would give me a call and let me know when the part was in and give me a date when he would be coming to install it.
The first part was about a weekend. Once he put the first part in and it still was making a thumping noise, he had to check, and he found that he had to get down inside and found out the washer was hitting on the tray the washing machine was sitting in when you load the washer. I said, "Well, Lowe's was the one who recommended me buying the tray when I bought the washer." What happened was when they installed the washer, they didn't screw the leveling legs out. So when the washer got full, the pan had ridges on them.
He said if the pan was flat, it wouldn't have done that but since the pan had originally been rubbing underneath the bottom of the machine, that caused damage to the motor. They had to order the motor, and that took another week but I wasn't worried about that. I said, "Well, at least we know." Once he came back and put that in, everything went well. Overall, AHS does good work. The people that they've sent have done wonderful work. So, I'm truly happy.

My tub, toilet and sink were clogged and the company that I had couldn’t unclog it from the inside. So, they had to install this pump on the outside of my house that would cost $1,600. They said the insurance didn't cover any so I had to pay it out of pocket. But everything got fixed in one day so I'm still happy about that. I got to take a shower, which was a plus for me. It’s the second issue I’ve had with the house. The first experience with American Home Shield wasn't so well. It took almost over three months to have my AC repair and I had to go out and buy an AC until it got fixed. But AHS resolved it after a while. Once it got fixed, I went and put a nicer one. They paid half of the bill. It was time-consuming but AHS has been great.

I had both my dryer and my dishwasher repaired through American Home Shield. The techs were really good. My dishwasher is not completely fixed, so I have to call them back because they have yet to return my call for that service. Overall, the customer service at American Home Shield has been really good. I liked the price of AHS. I remember having them once before when I moved into a new house, and the stove electrocuted me. I called them and they took care of me right away.

I do the things online now, because when I call in, nobody speaks English. And I told American Home Shield that because they can never understand me and I can't understand them. But doing it online was easy. I just gave Randall & Sons. And I had their telephone number where I can call them. But the tech never called. It went three days. And I had to call him on my day off. But when I called him, he came right out. He gave me a new pipe underneath the bathroom sink. He was great. American Home Shield is a good service. It has good coverage.

There was one American Home Shield rep that was short with me. She didn't want to go out of her way. But I talked to a lot of them and most of them were fantastic. Garrett's Cleaning and Appliance that came out the first time. The tech couldn't fix my dishwasher. It would not work. So, he suggested that it would be replaced. Another company came out the second time to deliver the new dishwasher. It was hardwired. So, they said they couldn't touch it. They left it. Garrett's came out again to install it.

Our washing machine wasn't rinsing. A gentleman came when he said he was gonna come. He was very helpful. Everything went exactly the way that AHS said and the way I expected it to. Apparently, it was the board that needed to be replaced on the inside. It wasn't spinning and the door was locked. I couldn't unlock it at the end of the cycle. I tried to work with it and we finally had to have it replaced.

Every time I'd wash clothes, the breaker would trip. It was stopping. It wouldn't even make it through a whole load of wash before it would trip. The website of AHS was easy to use when I put in a request. They sent the name of the company that would be taking care of it, and then the people called to set up a good time. There was a text too, so that was nice. The techs were really nice, too. They had it knocked out in 20 minutes and they were out of there. It's been good and working fine ever since. I'm really happy with AHS.

Everything went fine when Diamond Roofing came out for my AHS claim. They were quick and prompt. They came up, did a look, first go around, and they brought the parts up and put it on the roof, and were gone. I've got two other claims that I've made with AHS, that I've called a couple of times off and on, because they're more nuisance issues than real problems, but still haven't gotten them resolved. But this claim worked properly and went well.

I had a claim with AHS for my furnace. It was super easy. We just did it online. They matched us with the person that would come out. The contractor let me know when my appointment was. The techs had to order a different part. It was the week of Thanksgiving, so outside of them being closed for the holiday, they got it fixed within a week. It was super quick.
They were friendly and very professional. They got right to it and let us know what was going on, and they were on their way. When the guy came out to do the inspection, he was only in our home for 20 minutes, before he found out that the part that he needed that he would have to order. Then when the guy came back to fix it, he was only there for an hour, and then it was done. It was really great.

I had a claim for a dryer and it went really well. I could not ask for a better service guy than the one from AMR-Appliance. He was very hands-on if there is a problem and he works through it. He tries to have parts on hand before he comes so he only has to make one service call. It ended up being the bearing that was messed up.
This time last year, my water heater was leaking and no one ever called me back on it. AHS said they couldn't find anybody within my service area so we ended up just replacing it on our own. Other than that, I'm very satisfied.

American Home Shield has done what they said they're gonna do. We had an issue on our heating unit up in the attic. I called American Home Shield and they got me somebody to come out and fix it. They set me up the next day. It was the wheel which turns the fans, and they had to replace that. The young man was very good and friendly.

American Home Shield is really good. The service takes longer than if you hired your own contractors, but it mitigates the risk. So, it definitely serves its function of not suddenly having a huge bill. It's a good program. I'm happy with it.

I've always had a good experience with Home Shield. It's easy to submit a claim. Usually I call them and sometimes the wait on the phone's a long time, but that's very rare. This time, I did a claim online. I did it on a Friday, then the repair people were here Tuesday, and it worked out great. I had my toilet fixed.

I got the policy that covers everything, and the cost and the quality of service is good. I was paying 61, then American Home Shield let me know they're going up $10 on me next year. I got the letter three days ago. The only thing bad about the home warranty is my AC went out in June and they just replaced it last week. I have two units, one for front of the house and one for the back, and the second unit had to work extra hard. I followed up with American Home Shield for a whole summer, and the technician didn't turn in his work orders properly. I had a bad experience with it, but everything got completed, finally. Also, I looked into it, and the contractor that I got had bad reviews. American Home Shield needs to check on more of the reviews on the contractor.

My microwave was not working. The power igniter had gone bad, and the guy who fixed it did it in no time. He was very knowledgeable, but the previous guy who came over, not so much. The issue that I had got resolved, but it took a really long time. Still, American Home Shield has been good, so far, for me, and I would tell people to take it.

American Home Shield's claim process was easy. I needed my garage door serviced because it wasn't going up and down properly. It kept thinking that there was somebody in the doorway. A person from Winston Doors came out at the promised time and he was able to fix the issue.

I called American Home Shield to service my hot water tank. I spoke with a young lady and she was very helpful and arranged to have Dimitresse Construction come and look at the plumbing. The tanks was replaced. It's already been installed and everything is fine. I had to pay $390 and that was to replumb the thing. I love American Home Shield. I've been with them since I bought the house.

American Home Shield’s customer service reps are very good at times but other times, it’s a little hard to understand them. Dealing with the tech for the washing machine was horrible. I reached out to AHS and they were good enough to send out another technician. AHS has been very good but it gets frustrating when they can’t locate somebody. It takes them a little bit of time. If you have an appliance that's down, you need somebody right within a week. And sometimes, it takes three weeks before you get an appointment.

There was a gas leak and a water leak, which was a water heater. American Home Shield fixed both. The reps have been helpful. And the techs were polite and professional. I got a good feeling. I enjoyed having them in my home to do the work.

I'm very happy with American Home Shield. Recently, a repairman came to fix my icemakers. But he could not fix it because it needed a part so what he did was turn off the icemaker because it was overflowing. Within a day or two, he received the part. He came and fixed it. He was one of the best. He has been to my place a couple of times in the last year. Most of the contractors are very good.

American Home Shield is a wonderful investment. It is a comfort knowing that if I have an issue, somebody's going to come, look at things and give me an honest evaluation, whether it can or cannot be fixed. I don't believe they come in with the idea that, “We're not going to fix anything.” They come in with the idea that, “We will fix whatever we can fix. If it can't be fixed, then we'll replace it.”
I recently called to ask for a repairman to come out and double-check my propane water heater. It was a preventative measure because the propane smelled different. I always smell a bit of gas, but this was much more pungent, and it concerned me. I didn't want my house to blow up and I didn't want to be gassed to death. I wanted to make sure that we were okay. Once American Home Shield contracted the repairman, the warranty called me back. The company that was sending the repairman also contacted me telling me the name of who was going to be coming and when to expect him. Jeremiah, the repairman, was great. It was not a problem if I stood and looked over his shoulder. I also asked him questions, and he responded in a friendly and wonderful manner.

For our recent claim with AHS, the plumber that came out was awesome. It took him 10 minutes to get it fixed. Everything was good. There were a few confusions for me when I submitted a claim online. But otherwise, my experience with AHS was excellent.
