The service of AHS has been good. I like that I don't have to worry, I just call them and they will take care of everything. You also don't have to worry about your out-of-pocket repairs. You have to pay for the service call, but if you compare that with buying the whole appliance, it’s worth it. I had an issue with my dishwasher and it was fixed. The company that they reached out to called me the next day and scheduled an appointment with the technician. The tech was very knowledgeable. He explained all that he was gonna do.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

American Home Shield seems to be better than the others that I've had in the past. Recently, I had issues with my washer and they were able to get a technician out who determined that the parts were no longer in production. So they sent me a gift card so that I could go get me a brand new washer. It was a very easy process and it would have been quicker but the day that the washer broke was the day that we were leaving for a vacation. So while I was on the road, I called AHS and they said the technician would call me back. But when the technician called, we were still on vacation. So I had to tell them that we were not going to be back for a while. But when we were back from vacation, we arrived on Friday and the technician was out the following week on a Tuesday. And it took another seven days for them to determine if the parts were available, then another two days to get the gift card.
I called customer service during the process to find out if the parts were available. Then I asked what would happen if the parts were not available and that was when they explained to me that I could give me a gift card. I didn't know that they would even give a gift card. They said that I could either use the money toward their inventory or go to Lowe's. So we opted to go to Lowe's. The reps at AHS broke everything down and said that I would get an email and text message with the results, which I did. Their customer service was great and everything they said would possibly happen had the part not been in production was exactly what happened. Also, after that call, I didn't have to call them and ask where was the gift card. I just waited for the text message and the email. Even when I used the gift card, I didn't have any issues and it was almost like Lowe's knew exactly what to do.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I like AHS. When we had a plumbing problem in the kitchen, they sent out a tech and we paid them $125. But they told me that they couldn't fix it and we had to end up calling John Moore to fix the problem. $125 was not worth giving away if they couldn't fix the problem. Plus, we ended up having to pay $900 out of pocket. Other than that, the customer service of AHS was good. When I wasn't getting heat from my hot water heater, they sent someone out and they were able to fix it. But they said the hot water heater needed to be replaced and AHS wouldn't cover the replacement because they said it was still good.

My AHS warranty covers a lot of things and it’s saving me some money. Usually, the contractors that they send do a good job. But some of the people they got contracts with aren't any good. When that happens, I usually call them back, tell them I'm having a problem, and ask if they could provide a different contractor. Recently, I called AHS to file an electrical claim and it was easy to get a rep. He took my request and contacted a contractor. Then he gave me the name of the place and told me that they would call me and let me know when they were going to be here. Afterwards, techs came in and fixed a couple of ceiling lights. If a friend of mine needs a warranty, I would tell them that AHS would be a good company to try.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

American Home Shield doesn't cover anything. I was trying to get my air conditioner fixed and they sent out a company several different times. It never got fixed. Another company still didn't get it fixed. The contractors are not worth anything. I paid them 125 for them to come out and say, "It could be this and that," and didn't do anything. It's not worth getting a home warranty company. AHS put me off from trying any other company.

I am compelled to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the service provided by American Home Shield (AHS) insurance. My recent interactions regarding a refrigerator issue have left me thoroughly frustrated and dissatisfied. I initially contacted AHS to address a problem with my refrigerator, seeking a resolution to the ongoing cooling and ice-making issues. Despite multiple service visits, the problem persists, and the so-called "fixes" implemented by their service professionals have proven to be ineffective.
This recurring problem has led to a significant inconvenience, forcing me to discard groceries three or four times within the past two months due to the refrigerator's failure to cool adequately. The lack of a reliable solution from AHS has not only resulted in a waste of time and money but has also caused considerable frustration and inconvenience. The inefficiency of the service professionals dispatched by AHS raises serious questions about the effectiveness of their repair services and the overall quality of their coverage. As a paying customer, I expected prompt and reliable solutions to my appliance issues, but the repeated failures have left me deeply dissatisfied.
I am thoroughly disappointed with the level of service provided by American Home Shield and would caution anyone considering their services to think twice before engaging with this company. My experience has been nothing short of frustrating and has significantly eroded my confidence in AHS's ability to deliver on its promises.
Tigest, we appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

I had two issues and AHS responded in a timely manner. I called their number and it was not difficult to get a rep. One of the claims I had was for my garage door and it seems to be working okay now. The other one was for my garbage disposal and the first tech who came out said that it wasn't in his field. When he checked it, he said it was an electrical problem. He relayed that back to American Home Shield and they set up another person to come out here.
The second guy was an electrician who said it was the breaker and he changed it. The first time I used it, it worked. The next time I used it, it tripped again. But those were brand new breakers put in about two months ago and they don't go bad that easy. So that claim is not yet resolved but I don't have the time to sit down, put things together, and call the tech back out. Other than that, having AHS is economical and I’ll recommend them. For the consumer, the warranty is very helpful because it's very costly to get things replaced and worked on. And if you have a protection layer, it helps you greatly.

Our AC and furnace were having issues. So we placed a claim and American Home Shield pretty promptly assigned us a company, Placer Heating and Air, who came out and diagnosed it. Unfortunately, the extent of the issue was pretty major. So the warranty deductible didn't cover the cost of replacing it in total. But it did discount a little bit of the service we ended up going with.
We ended up getting the furnace replaced. So it was a fairly large job. After they completed the task there, they scheduled the county inspector to come out and sign off on it. The county inspector came out, and said Placer Heating and Air didn't provide the correct documentation. So then, Placer Heating and Air had to come out, give us the paperwork that was forgotten, and then they scheduled the county inspector again. The county inspector came out again, inspected it and noticed some things were missing or incomplete. So they scheduled for Placer Heating and Air to come back out and do a couple of adjustments. Then they scheduled the inspector to come back out. They just passed the inspection with the county inspector this week. It was a little frustrating with the inspection part. But overall, I'd still recommend American Home Shield.

We were having a draining problem and the contractor couldn't do anything under American Home Shield. They did a small thing that they could do but they had to come back and do a heavier duty job that we paid for. American Home Shield's contractors are usually great and the coverage is a safe thing to have to get something fixed that could cost more if we didn't have it. Whenever somebody says they'd buy some property, we tell them they should get some sort of home insurance and we recommend American Home Shield.
We're thrilled to hear that you were satisfied with our services. Your feedback is appreciated, and we look forward to helping you again.

I recommend American Home Shield to other people. I had a contractor come and repair my dishwasher. The water would run, but the soap was still stuck on all the dishes. I also had a contractor come out and fix some faucets. I had a couple of faucets that were broken, and they were all included in one bill. Then I had three faucets and they fixed them all, so I was satisfied with that. The plumbing contractors have always been good.
For the electrical claim, an electrician came out but said that electrical in the walls is not covered. The ballast was bad on the light fixture, and the electrician said that they could not replace it, that I would need to get the whole fixture, and that the warranty would not cover the installation of the new fixture. That ended up being a hassle. We paid for the service fee and got nothing. My biggest complaint is that every time I call, it always sounds like I'm talking to somebody from another country. Another complaint is the service fees have gone up. We have it on our other house as well. The service fee was $75 then it jumped up to 125.
It’s because of members like you that we continue to improve as a business. Please feel free to call on us again when you need us.

I'm disappointed that American Home Shield doesn't cover much. We've had multiple problems and we were under the impression that they were gonna safeguard us when we bought our home. But it's only cost us money. We pay a monthly service then if we have someone come out, we pay for that too. But there's not much they can fix. The only thing that's covered is an AC. Nothing behind a wall or a door can be fixed. It's all cosmetic stuff or some things that we could fix ourselves. It's not the big issues, which is why you would have a home warranty. I'm probably not going to renew for that reason.
We never got an answer on the last thing that we called out for though they ended up sending a leak specialist. I filed a claim with my homeowners insurance. For whatever reason, the report from the leak specialist went to them. We don't even know how to fix the problem. Now, it's extended and I'm not gonna call American Home Shield for their contractor to come back out and look at it. I'm not gonna pay more money to have somebody come back out to not give me an answer.
We have a spot on our ceiling that's a leak. It looks like it might be coming from upstairs where there's a bathroom next to an AC handler. No one could tell us where it was coming from. We all assume it's from the bathroom. But you can't tell it's from the bathroom because you'd have to pull out the tub or breach a wall to find out where it's coming from. Now we have another spot in another part of our house which would lead you to think that maybe it's the roof. We had someone ourselves that we paid to come out and look at the roof. They say it's not the roof. Again, we don't have answers. There was no follow-up from American Home Shield and I wish there would have been more follow-up.

The claim for the water heater was perfect. Usually, when I have a claim with American Home Shield, it's always good. They do it right away and professionally. Except this time, it wasn't fully done. The last claim I had was the garage. They fixed the spring but didn't fix the remote where I press the button and it opens. I have to manually do it.

Tin Smith Mechanical came out for my most recent claim and it was very straight-to-the-point. The tech evaluated what was wrong with the AC. I needed a new capacitor and a new motor or a new fan in the AC outside and they had their truck with almost everything I could have needed, so it was a quick stop. After an hour or so, they were heading out and my AC was fixed. I like it a lot and it was more convenient. I've had other contractors come out for the washer and the refrigerator, which isn't the end of the world, but they had to order parts and then come back when the parts arrived a week later or so.
I file claims online through their website. Once you put in the issue and before you submit the ticket, they offer a decent amount of videos for things to attempt yourself. I was gonna use them to do my garbage disposal because it wasn't working and before I submitted the ticket, there was a video that asked me to check the bottom of the motor and to turn up with an Allen key. That ended up resolving this stuck object that was in the garbage disposal, which then saved me having to call them and get someone out. AHS is worth it and it's peace of mind. I keep it because the AC alone, if that went out, would cost me a couple of thousand dollars. I'm happy with it for what it covers.

Of all of the HVAC groups that have come for my various issues, Certified Heating & Air who worked on our most recent claim was the most interested in helping. I really appreciated what they did. They did their diagnostic, we talked about it, they updated the core, and then the unit worked for an hour or two. Then, it didn't work and I texted the tech back. He gave me a few pointers and we spoke. He came back out and found that there was a second failure mode that he hadn't picked up on the first one. He got through with American Home Shield and got it taken care of. Regrettably, the unit took two weeks to get when it was 105 degrees, but that's not the fault of either the contractor or American Home Shield.
The only really bad experience I've had was when I had a water heater claim. That took me a good 30 hours to get clarified and fixed after everything was set. I followed all the instructions, did everything I was told, and it was rejected. We had to provide all the information and then, finally, a supervisor called up and said they would cover it. I got the money, but it was a lot of effort.

I had a heating issue and the company that came out did a great job and resolved the issue. Everyone that has come out, agency or company, has been great. I've had more issues with American Home Shield than the contractors. I had a service provider that couldn't get me service prior to Christmas and AHS didn't wanna switch the provider. Also, sometimes it's a battle to get things communicated properly. A lot of times, you can't understand who you're talking to when you call in. But other than that, it's a great service. Getting connected to a contractor and not having to come out of pocket as much are the most valuable things for me.

I used American Home Shield for some toilets that were leaking. That experience was good. They sent a guy out. He diagnosed it and fixed it the same day. Recently, I submitted two requests. The first one was for a leak. A guy came out and said he tightened something up, but I still had a leak going. He should have seen where it was leaking. Another plumber came out and he said something was handtight. He tightened it with his hand. I had to pay $100 deductible both times. In the meantime, I had water damage. It was under my sink. But now, it's all torn out and I had to file an insurance claim, which is not good for me. American Home Shield let me down. I left another provider for American Home Shield because I had them in the past and thought they were good. But this incident makes me think about leaving.

The dishwasher would run for 15 minutes then it would stop running, throw a code and there would be a couple of inches of water in the bottom of it. The repairman who came was a pain. We did not have a working dishwasher for three months on the first one. I feel like he was a new hire. The dishwasher is seven years old and you could hear the drain pump struggling in it. After he Googled, he told me that I just needed to move my drain hose the he left. He did not even turn the dishwasher back on and do a test run. I turned the dishwasher back on, and 15 minutes later, it threw the code and wouldn't drain. I went to the American Home Shield site and put in a ticket that it still wasn't fixed. Two weeks later, he came back out and said that it was probably the pump. He called his manager to ask if he should replace the entire pump or just a part of the pump. The manager told him to replace the turbidity meter. I work in an environmental lab. I could tell straight up it was not the freaking turbidity meter.
He ordered the part. A couple of weeks later, he came out and installed it. He did not do a test run. I turned it on, and 15 minutes later, it did the same thing. I put in the ticket again. He called and was pulling up to the house. I told him, "You know it's the drain pump so just go ahead and order the drain pump." He installed the drain pump. He still did not do a test run before he left. I turned the dishwasher on and it would not even turn on. I had to run outside and catch the guy in the driveway. He never reconnected it whenever he installed the drain pump. I missed five days total of work and it was about three months. I'm not above handwashing dishes, but it was annoying.
But I love American Home Shield. I wouldn't wanna not have it. It's nice to have an appliance break down that would normally cost $400 or $500 and pay 100 bucks for it. My dryer went out last year. Instead of having to buy a new dryer, I paid American Home Shield 100 bucks for the service fee. They couldn't fix the dryer, so I got a brand-new dryer. There was one time when my AC went out in the middle of August. I live in Florida. It's an older model unit so it took them a couple of weeks to find the part and get it in. American Home Shield credited me with a free service after that.

When we bought our very first house in 2000, it came as part of the thing where you get a free year of American Home Shield. And because, at the time, we lived in a older home, we decided to keep it. We were in that home until 2014, and then we built a new home. We had such good experiences with American Home Shield in the past that we re-upped with them even though we had a much newer home. I like the fact that I can pay a monthly fee and don't have to worry about having to come up with thousands of dollars out of pocket all at once. The repairman who came for the fan motor on the AC unit that went out was fantastic. He was able to diagnose the issue quickly, showed me what was going on, and told me that he was gonna have to order a part. It was fixed very quickly.

We like American Home Shield. We've had them for 25 years in three houses. I try to let people know that it's an excellent service to have. Sometimes it's hit or miss with the service but when I explain to them that I don't want a particular company to come back ever again, they send somebody else. We had a hot water tank that exploded at the bottom and an HVAC issue. They fixed them both. Unfortunately, at the beach, it takes a long time to get somebody there. It's not that many people in the area to work. It’s isolated. Temperatures were extremely hot, and I had to wait seven days for somebody to come out to fix my HVAC. I had to go to Lowe's and buy a portable air conditioner to use in my bedroom while I waited for them to come and fix it. But once they came, they were superb.

The claims process for the garbage disposal was very smooth. They decided it was like I said - not able to be fixed. It was leaking. They went out, got a new one, and replaced it. But for the dishwasher, it took multiple trips. The contractor put $20 worth of parts on it and punched their ticket. There was an issue with the rack inside. They replaced the carrier on that. As for the other issue, they put the new seals on. But this dishwasher is 17 years old. Those seals lasted for 16 of the 17 years, and we run the dishwasher every day. The replacement seals lasted 60 days and it's back to leaking again. The new seals that they put on must be the cheapest seals known to mankind. Now, I have a towel at the bottom of my dishwasher as we run it. Because it's past my 30 days, if I call it in, they're gonna put a new pair of two cent seals on there.
I had a hot water heater go bad right before Christmas. It was leaking on the floor. I called American Home Shield and they opened a case. Two days later, I had been given outside approval to find my own vendor 'cause they couldn't find a vendor that would take the job. I'm disappointed in that. I have the coverage so I don't have to go surfing around on the internet and find my own people. I pay American Home Shield to have people on payroll. On December 27th, the guy that I found locally came out and did an estimate. He had to call American Home Shield and get approval as an outside vendor. He said, "It can't be fixed. It needs to be replaced." But American Home Shield didn't approve him. They said it was over their limit. I went out on my own after 22 days. I was calling and got a thousand call records at the call center, where people can never help you.
I've been badgering back and forth with them. Calling the call center is a horrible experience. English is not their first language most times. You can't hear them well. It seems like they're reading a lot of scripted stuff. I could never get ahold of a supervisor or a manager. I was denied 52 times sideways. Just this past week, I was given a call to say that I was being denied once again, even after all my notes, because I did the work without their approval. But nobody would call me. The website is limited. It is good that you can open a case on there. You can see your case on there too. But I can't get ahold of anybody. They have the chat thing. But they just say they're gonna get back to you on that. They don't fix your case. I can't see anything. When I go on there, it shows me that this plumbing company that's never called me in 14 days is still assigned to my case and they'll call shortly.
22 days in, American Home Shield still hadn't found a contractor to come to my house. The only guy that ever showed up was my guy. They said they wanted to get a second opinion. I waited another 10 days. They finally found a vendor who never showed up. I called that vendor two times. Finally, I paid over $3,000 to have it done. It's a very large hot water heater. It's expensive because it's power-vented. Now, I'm fighting with American Home Shield. I still haven't received money. I heard last week that somebody approved it, even though I was told no 10 times. The 11th time, I got an email that said a check could be sent to me within 7 to 21 days. I'm at day 30 now. It's still on my dime. The cost is good for my coverage, but it only counts if they cover a claim.

It's been simple with American Home Shield. It's app-based. When you need appointments, you just sign into your account, tell them what the problem is, and one of their network people will schedule an appointment and come out. Flesher's Refrigeration was excellent. They had a few items to call us back on because we had questions, and they were very prompt on calling back. But I'm not so impressed with the plumber that American Home Shield sent out twice. I feel he's a scam artist. The last time I had the same issue where I needed a plumber to come out, I asked them to assign a different vendor, which they did. But it was further away and I ended up cancelling that service call because we figured out the problem on our own.

American Home Shield is a little overpriced and it's sometimes sold as a total home warranty, but it's not. It's like a warranty for appliances and systems, but not an actual home. As long as people understand the coverage and what they pay for though, it’s great. When there was no heat coming out of my dryer, we ran through the website and we were given two different phone numbers and an initial appointment date. The contractors then called me to let me know that they needed to move the initial appointment that was originally made through the website. When they arrived, they diagnosed the issue and realized that the heating element was bad. Originally, they were gonna order a new one because they didn't have the one that they needed on the truck, then they realized they could repair it. They were great. They repaired the heating element, reinstalled it, and so far, so good.

As a single parent who owns a home, having American Home Shield gives me peace of mind. If something comes up and it's a big expense, I'm covered. The only bad thing is any time something breaks down, it's always been on a holiday. That's not American Home Shield's fault, but it's been like, "Oh, crap. I have to wait three or four days." Other than that, American Home Shield has been great. They're affordable and they provide timely service. I've had two claims. One was my dishwasher (it exploded one day), and the other one was for my shower. Both claims were resolved and saved me money and it's worked out really well. If people ask me whether or not they should get the home warranty, I would say, "Absolutely."

When I call American Home Shield, they quickly respond. Recently, they had my furnace checked and the tech was very professional. However, now, I have to pay 100 all the time when I call for service. I changed the information for my payment, and American Home Shield called me because my debit card wasn't updated. That was how I found out that I had to pay more.
I'm an old customer, and everything changed since August, but they never called and said, "Hey, your contract is gonna be renewed. Everything's gonna change right now." I called to ask why my payment was higher than it used to be, and the rep explained that my contract was renewed automatically. She explained that I had 60 days after that to complain or ask for a lesser price, but nobody explained to me about that. I asked her if I could cancel and redo the contract because I had a paper that said that I can pay $54 monthly. It's gonna be less money for the service request, but she said, "If you want, you have to wait one month."

Customer service has been good. I like to call American Home Shield on the telephone so I can get a name and have a contact person when I call versus chatting with somebody online. Most of the time, when I file a claim, they text me the company's name to let me know, and the company usually reaches out to me and we work around each other's schedule.
Recently, my thermostat went out completely. The unit was still operating, but the thermostat died. I tried changing the batteries, and it still did not work. American Home Shield had someone come and replace the thermostat, and my daughter said the repairman was in and out. He checked the system outside, then he came back in. He finished everything the same day and he wasn't long. I would tell people to get American Home Shield. I enjoy them, and I have a lot of friends that have American Home Shield already. We all talk about our good experiences with them.

I like American Home Shield. I had them in Colorado for almost 11 years, and it's been almost 30 years since I've been dealing with them. They're a good company. I call them and within eight hours, somebody will call me back and let me know that the technician is coming. The technician will call and tell me when he's coming and what day and about what time. The technician will also call before he gets here and tell me about where he's at and how long it will take him to get here. When he's here, he cleans up everything, double-checks the job and makes sure the unit works. I'm satisfied with the service. My dryer quit recently, and when the technician came out, he had it up and running half an hour later.

Six months ago, I needed to have an air conditioning repair done and I did the request by phone and email because there was some confusion. I tried to schedule it online and the system didn't confirm it. I also talked to someone over the phone, but they didn't look at my account and they scheduled another one. I got charged even though the guy didn't come. It was a little confusing, but we got it straightened out. So it was fine.
The customer support has been good. Everyone's polite. That one situation, I had to fight a little to get my money back and that was a bit tedious. Generally though, I've been with American Home Shield for a while and I haven't had any problems. The service people have all been good. There have been times I've had to have somebody come back a couple of times to fix the problem, but generally, they were polite, on time and kept coming back until they got it fixed.
I like to insure things. It gives me peace of mind, and the few times that I've had incidents, American Home Shield has always handled it. My dishwasher broke a few years back and I got a new one. I just moved into a new house almost two years ago and the air conditioning needed some work and they were able to take care of that for me. Overall, it's been a good experience. I've told a lot of people about American Home Shield. They are great and I tell everybody to sign up.

Sometimes when I call American Home Shield, the people I talk to aren't that experienced. And a couple of times, they had to get the people who were doing the work on the line. Customer service is not always that good an experience. And sometimes, they don't understand what I was talking about. Recently, AHS had to end up replacing my AC. But it took a while because they tried to fix it several times. It finally stopped working. And they said, “You need a new one.” I've got a couple of people that knew what they were talking about and were able to help me. But a couple of times, they weren't, and they had to get the Comfort Expert on the phone.

American Home Shield gives homeowners peace of mind. My husband has a busy job. So, it takes some of the pressure off of the marriage when we could contact somebody and they would come out and handle it. Some mechanic wasn't cooling. I called. American Home Shield. I got through quickly. Normally, I would do a request online because they have that option. But I like to request L&L because their tech has done a lot of work for us and he's great. So, if I have a specific request, I would call in and see if that person is available. But we've had some come out and it has not gone well. We had to do a case with AHS where we were escalated to a specific team that handles those types of issues. But it was always resolved even if it has not gone as well as we hoped.

I had several plumbing issues. I filed a claim with American Home Shield. The contractor came out, and it wasn't the garbage disposal. It was something else. It was between the garbage disposal and the dishwasher. I couldn't figure it out. But they charged me for the garbage disposal anyway. They only let me put one item. They didn't let me say, “I think it's a garbage disposal,” or ”I'm not really sure because I'm not a plumber.” They ended up resolving it, but I had to pay for both of them. I had that same issue where I had to pay extra to fix something because it was installed incorrectly, so I understand that. They left a big hole, so I was worried about critters coming in. I called A1 and they said, “We'll report it to American Home Shield,” and they would have to come out. They never came out, and I ended up having a handyman fix it.

I thought American Home Shield was a good program, but it's not. I have a specialist that could do something but they're not in AHS' network. I have to use their network of people but they aren't qualified all the time. It would be nice to be able to expand the network. We had a pool heater problem and a pump problem. It was the plumbing problem because it still leaked. Last year they wouldn't fix it. And it was the heater because the heater would get fixed. American Home Shield tried to charge me too much. Clearene came and I had to buy my own pump because Clearene said that AHS wouldn't cover it. So, I ended up buying my own pump and paid Clearene to put it in myself.

If we had an issue, it has been very difficult to get someone from American Home Shield. It started out well. I even referred AHS to other friends. But as of late, things have changed. Customer service is not as quick. If I had a lot of problems, I would not get a person. So, to do it online, sometimes we got specific things. When we first got it, we were able to tell somebody something. They would tell us, “This falls here. You can do this.” And we could get something done under one visit if it was two things related. Now, if the choice is not there online, it’s difficult. And it's almost like, “I gotta choose one thing or the other.” And we haven't been happy with that.
If we had two plumbing issues but one was not listed online, we would not be able to choose that other one. That was the last occurrence we had. So, if you don't get a person on the phone to explain it, you have to now pay another deductible fee for someone to come out. And that wasn't good. And it seemed like there are certain things that they cut back when they changed it to making sure you had to do the payment online. I understand this business. It seemed the customer service went down to us.
The contractors we've had come out have been great people. AHS would find someone that is local to do the job. And the companies that came out have been okay. The problem is with AHS not covering specific things. We had a toilet issue. And something that they used to cover, they didn't anymore. That was different because the contractor had to call and get approval, and send pictures in to see if it qualified. It got more nitpicky now. So, we shopped around to see if there was something else we wanted to explore and if there was anything else out there that’s equivalent or better.

It's a racket going on. I had an issue with my refrigerator door. American Home Shield sent out two different one star rating service providers. So, I called AHS and said I was a little concerned. I read all the reviews. Majority of them said that these contractors come out and write up the work order so it appeared that it was the customer's negligence. It happened to me. The first gentleman came out. My refrigerator door's hinges came off. Told me everything was fine. I waited. When I called AHS, they said, "The claim is denied due to what the technician wrote up." I said, "Ma'am I don't agree with that. Can you send out another one?" So, they sent out another gentleman. His rating was a 1.
He said that it was just normal wear and tear, no negligence to the customer. So, I called AHS back again. I've already paid my service fee to them. I said, "Can you send me my money back if you're not gonna fix the door?" And she said, "Sorry about the misunderstanding. That a particular part is not covered up under your warranty." I said, "I don't agree with that. I have the best plan that money can buy with y'all." They fought me tooth and nail, and tried all kinds of shenanigans not to fix the freezer door. They fixed it, but it took a good week and a bunch of phone calls and questioning things. They went from, "We only go by the technician," to, "I'm not covered." And when I didn't buy it on that, they decided to fix it. So, it's some scamming going on with them. Because if you are a reputable company, I don't see the benefit of using people whose ratings are 1. But that's their commonplace thing.
The contractor writes the contract so they don't have to fix it, but they're still getting paid for coming out to the house. But AHS is leaving the customer stuck, and it's hard. If I was not persistent, I would lose with them. And all of that is on record. Allegedly, they record every conversation. And I know that they got a lot of lawsuits going. But I believe there are some scamming going on with them, between them and the contractors that they used.
When I asked that question, they said they don't base which contractors they use off of their reputation or rating. That doesn't make sense. Wouldn't they want the best, not the worst, representing their company? I've talked to people that the contractor said he ordered parts. It's a lot that they continually to use the same contractors that most people are complaining about. That means a red flag. They're in cahoots.

Having American Home Shield is convenient. It gives a sense of security that if anything went wrong, they would repair it. They don't work for big things. If there was a minor crack that has been in a stove for 20 years, they won't do anything. They won't repair. But for newer appliances, they're good. Also, they're not very fast, but they solve the problem. My AC motor was bad and AHS replaced it. It was taken care of. It was two days during the heat wave. It was fast. I also had a repair for a stove. AHS did it within four days. The techs didn't speak a lot of English, but they took care of the problem.

If my appliance breaks down, AHS would come and fix it. But the $100 upfront fee that you have to pay is a minus on them. I found somebody that was cheaper and they do the same thing. Other than that, the companies that AHS sends out to your house pretty much do things in a timely manner. They sent the electrician to change my ceiling fan out and the service was fine. I also had a claim for my faucet where the techs had to replace it and that experience was good. But when I had a problem with my refrigerator, the techs had to get a part for it and it took a little bit of time. Aside from that, when a tech had to come and fix my toilet, he stayed here for two minutes and said that it was fixed. But about a couple months later I had the same problem. They had to come out and switch out the whole kit on the inside. That was another $100.

Because there was one time in the summer when I didn't have air conditioning for over a month. I do my claims online using American Home Shield's website. The site is great. Typically, they give me the name of the contractor or the company that the ticket’s routed to, and their contact information. I have peace of mind knowing that I can just submit a ticket, especially if it's something that comes on sudden and typically, within 48 hours, somebody's here or responded. I have not had any issues at all with contracting companies. Every one that's responded has been professional and courteous. They've come and done their job and if there was something they had to order, they let me know.
AHS is very responsive. You pay the premium and you pay the ticket fee of $75 but a lot of times, I found there have been a couple of instances where the repair was over that amount. I'm handy but if I’m gonna have to climb under something or get on a ladder, I don't have to get my hands dirty. I know other people go to different training schools and other schools and get certified and things. Why not let the person that's certified to do it do it?” Someone came for the air conditioner. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it. I ended up having to get a brand new AC. But prior to that, they diagnosed it and got a new part in and replaced it.

I'm happy with American Home Shield in a lot of aspects but it only takes a couple of bad experiences to sour somebody's opinion. My entire job is contracts. It was cut in black and white that there was a refusal to honor AHS' contractual agreement. I was displeased with my dishwasher. I opened the dishwasher and it fell out of the hole. So, I submitted a claim and AHS took my money. The contractor came and said, "I can't reinstall it. They won't pay for a reinstall," even though it clearly states contractually that they cover faulty installation. And they said, "You need to call the people who installed it." But I bought this house with it in it. I didn't install it. It was because it is a newer dishwasher, but whoever the previous owner of the property had installed it did a piss-poor job within a few days of whenever we took ownership of it. They refused to honor their contract in that instance.
I went out in the garage and there was water all over underneath the heater. I turned the water off and cleaned up the water. A couple of days later, the contractor came out and said, "There's water stains underneath it." So, AHS refused to pay for my water heater because the contractor said there was staining. I was annoyed with that.
The app is effective. Somebody that issues with electronics, specifically, like an older generation might have some hard times with it, but I don't have any problems with it. According to my contract, there are things that are covered that do not show up on the app. Within the first few months that we moved in, I had some leaking in my plumbing in my bathroom, and randomly, it would gush out. I submitted a claim on my app and the contractor came out did stuff. It started doing it again, for some reason. So, a couple of days I filed a claim and it says leaking faucet, but it's like not leaking shower stall.

I call because I couldn't get through from the app. They updated their something so it kept logging me into my old account. I anticipated a contractor to come. It was for my washer. They came, but were in a rush. It almost came off a bit rushed and rude. And whatever the tech put in the report, which I disagreed with, was not valid. AHS will cover other repairs. But they don't cover anything for the washer. I've used them two other times, and those were very good. I would encourage using AHS.

I don't like having to do the automated thing. It's all right. But I speak to foreigners when they finally answer, and I prefer to speak to an American because I can understand them. Also, the tech for my stove kept being late. He would say, “I'm sorry. I was in a car accident.” And the next day, he would show up. Or, “I can't make it here.” The contractors are hit and miss. But whenever I call to make a complaint, AHS would send me somebody else from a different company. And I would tell them, “Don't send that person again.”
I don't recommend AHS to my clients because there's another program that’s this much. There's another home warranty that does a lot more. If you get the right plan, if they install something that's not up to code, they will fix it and make it up to code. American Home Shield doesn't do that. My AC unit broke down and Johnson & Sons put in the coolant that you put on the AC initially to see if that would work. It didn't work so, I had to call again. They came back and said that it was a bigger problem. They called in to replace it and it was replaced. That was closer to the summer. Then, in the wintertime, my heater broke down and I was able to get that fixed. They had to replace the heater as well. And now, it's the water heater. When I called AHS and said it was a boiler, it was actually the water heater and American Home Shield placed the order with a company that doesn't do water heaters. So, they switched the order to another company. But I couldn’t get ahold of them. I was gonna call them. If they don't contact me by tomorrow, I'm probably gonna call American Home Shield just to let them know what's going on. But usually, when I call AHS, they're good at fixing the problem.
The customer service experience has been good. I thought the AC unit and the heating unit were somehow connected and the reps helped me out. To do a claim, it's $133, which is a lot of money for me. They were very understanding and I appreciated that because it was so close in time for both to be done. They charged me half as a courtesy so they were very nice. The AHS service was solid. But they refused to compensate me for the part that they said that I needed to begin with. It's a garbage company. I feel like they use the cheapest parts. Also, the first language of everybody that I spoke to is not English so I feel like a lot of things are just miscommunicated, maybe not even heard or possibly not even understood.
I spoke to a manager and it was just a cycle. The issue never got resolved. American Home Shield gives you the runaround. I asked for a certain vendor not to come back to my house because I felt like they were subpar and they kept sending the same person. I wouldn't recommend them. The customer service was not helpful at all because everything I had to do with them, I had to do through the bank. If I call and make a payment or online payments, I'm still getting both the emails from American Home Shield, like I'm paying two different accounts. I can't still distinguish which one is which. Also, the most recent claim I had was for my dryer and they sent someone out but he did not fix the problem. They said I had to pay them to send somebody else out. I got someone I knew to fix it. It hasn't been too good of experiences lately, but it's not all bad either.

I bought an older house and everything was working when I got in but all of a sudden, the sink was leaking and I couldn't turn it off. The technician said that American Home Shield was not covering it and that was it. I don't like that they don't tell you the issue. I did not get a letter saying specifically why they denied it. The technician sends a report into American Home Shield stating the issue but I feel like as a homeowner, I should receive those reports also. Other than that, I've had very good experience with them.

They're very fair in my dealings with them.

Budget Rooter came out for a plumbing issue in my most recent claim and they were helpful and they explained the situation. Budget is typically the company that Home Shield uses and I've only one interaction with a Budget guy that I didn't like. Sacramento is a big town and the guy lived on the other side. He was annoyed that I was calling him about this issue, because he thought that it was a non-issue. That was a couple of years ago but every other time they've sent someone here, they've been nothing but courteous and helpful.
The coverage has been helpful on just about everything. The only thing that I was rather disappointed was that last year, there was a whole lot of major flooding and power outages in the Sacramento area. When the power came back on, it fried my garage door opener and Home Shield said that was somehow not covered. It seemed weird. I ended up having to fork over 1,000 bucks that day.
Other than that, they're very helpful with plumbing issues. A plumbing issue could cost you anywhere from $800 to a few thousand dollars so just one plumbing issue pays for Home Shield for a couple of years. Also, I recall I had an issue with the refrigerator that I used to have and they ended up replacing almost all the electronics in the refrigerator. It was an expensive refrigerator and with all of the time they put in with having the technicians come out and the parts, it paid for the refrigerator. I tell people that this is a very useful tool. It's one of those things that you're paying them most of the time for something you don't use, but when you do use it, it pays for itself.

Sometimes the service of AHS is good, sometimes it's not. They also jacked up my fee too much recently. My monthly payment has increased a lot. I used to pay about 85. Now, it's 145 something. I'm not too happy about it. I'm looking to change now. Recently, one of the sump pumps was bad. They said they could not do anything about it. They used to be very good, but now they're not.

I have five rentals and I have them under American Home Shield's care. But this year, they went double of what I was paying when I first enrolled. I've been with them for a few years and I told them to drop the price down. I can't pay $1,000 a year then continue to pay them 125 every time I call. Also, every time I've tried to get a vendor out to do or return a broken item, I get into a snafu. I have one rental property in Kingman, Arizona and two in Golden Valley, and I can't get a tech out there because there's no one available in the area.
AHS would tell me that I could go ahead and select one and pay out of pocket, then they'd reimburse me. But that doesn't work for me. It would work for someone that's rich but that's why I protect my rentals because I can't afford to pay out cash if something breaks down. But they always turn it around on me and I'm fed up with it. One time, I needed an electrician and when they finally they got one, there was a problem. He had to do rewiring to bring the house up to code and American Home Shield doesn't cover rewiring because it's not up to code.
Recently, I had a claim for the wall heater up in Big Bear where it was snowing and raining. I paid a service call for a tech to go up there and on the first call, they gave my tenants the diagnosis. American Home Shield approved a replacement and I didn't know what the problem was because they didn't tell me anything. They just took care of the business and the tenant said they replaced it. But I've made three calls on that furnace because the tenants have had problems with it and 30 days after the replacement, it messed up again. It's a brand-new unit. I told AHS that they better reimburse me back my money because I was not going to pay them three times in a row for a brand-new furnace that they paid a vendor to put in and install. The tenants are freezing their butts off and I'm scared they're going to run out and leave the property. Then I'm going to sue AHS for having them empty the unit.

I always call American Home Shield any time something goes wrong. Recently, my Maytag ice maker was not working and I made a claim. They sent it to Whirlpool but I never heard anything from Whirlpool. So I called them back and they gave JD Appliance. But the other day, I was looking at the manual for the refrigerator, then I started pushing buttons and I had the ice maker working. So I called the American Home Shield for them to cancel the claim. AHS is fabulous and I would recommend them to anybody. They are accurate and they do an excellent job. I've never had any problem with them. They'd say I should be contacted by the contractor in 12 to 24 hours and if I haven't been contacted, I could just call them back.
One time, one of my maids hit the switch upstairs and turned all the power off upstairs. I didn't know what was wrong and they sent a guy out on me. He must have tore everything up up there and took the ceiling fans down. Then he came down and told me that all we had to do was flick the switch. Other than that, they did my stove because I needed another igniter. I like the contractors, too. My first mistake was, every year you get your air condition upgraded, so I paid $1,000 for the guy to come out. Then I remembered we had American Home Shield. So I called them and the rep told me that I was supposed to call them first. So anything goes wrong now, I call them first. If you call early in the morning, you go through the automated system. Usually after 8:00 or 9:00, you could get a real person. But things have worked out very good.

My most recent claim was when Advanced Mechanical AC came out. They had to replace the fan motor on the AC but it was not just that. The fan itself would not come off the motor and they did not have an extra fan. They had to come back in a few days and they got it to function. They were on top of things. But then, it started going up every year, even on the years I didn't have claims. I called and I complained and they said their policy is to raise it every year.

Calls are being sent to a call center out of the country. It's sometimes very difficult to understand folks when they're trying to communicate with you. My experience with AHS has been good. My washer wasn't working properly recently. I paid my deductible, which is $150. The next day, a technician came out to look at my washer free-of-charge because I had already paid the $150 deductible. He gave me some pointers and some tips. The tech was good. I don't feel like he did anything, other than he told me that we were putting too many clothes in the washer. Although it was a brand new washer, he said, "Just fill it up one-third." Everything's working now. Flash Garage Door Service came out recently too. They fixed my garage. They realigned it. We didn't know that the light beam on each side of the garage had to be aligned properly for the garage to work. Something that we put in the garage hit the little thing that the beam comes out of so it was pointed in the wrong direction. He unscrewed it and realigned it to where the beam could face each other. And that fixed the problem.

American Home Shield has helped me with a lot of things. They've done a lot of repairs for me with my appliances. There was only one thing that they didn't do that I wish they did and that was the insulation in my attic. That insulation had been under a recall and I didn't know it. The people who used to own this house didn't tell me anything about it and I'm not even sure they knew about it. The stuff deteriorated and it was all around in the attic and AHS didn't replace it.
But other than that, the reps have been helpful, patient, and understanding and the contractors have been skillful, knowledgeable, and courteous. One time, I had a leak in my hot water heater and they sent someone out. The tech said it was fixed but it wasn't fixed so I called them again. They give you 30 days and it was in the timeframe. They sent someone else out and I didn't have to pay anymore. The second tech fixed it and he did a good job.

The service of AHS has been good. Every time we've had to use it, we've gotten a prompt call out for a schedule, and everybody's come on time or as scheduled. We had a garbage disposal replacement two weeks ago. We also had to do one claim for our heating was not heating as it should. The benefit of having AHS is having somebody who can come fix it, in theory, at a reduced cost. I'm paying every month, and then paying for a service fee. But if I end up having to do two things or just one thing and it costs a great deal of money, and yet, we don't have to pay the full, then that's a win for us.

I had a horrible experience with our air conditioning the summer before last. The techs had to come out three times and it was three different people each time. I don't like that you can't choose or keep the same people. Whoever put in the antifreeze that I had to pay $1,100 out of pocket the first time didn't put the sealant or a dye so that they could see where the leak was happening and it leaked again. So, I had to add more and I had to pay again. American Home Shield did not cover that and I was not happy because they were the ones that chose who came out and they didn't do it correctly. So, that cost me a lot. It should not have to be out of pocket so much money if your AC or something goes out big.
I have recommended AHS before for saving money when big items go out like our fridge but you don’t get a choice and you're gonna be stuck with whoever is coming in. The last one I worked with on my washer ordered a part and said they wanted to offer me money. The part was gonna be on backorder for two weeks or up to maybe a month and when the guy was out, he said AHS was gonna have to replace this because he couldn't get this part. I liked the people who came out to service and I said okay. They tried to pay me out half the price for the part. I called AHS and they called the guy and all of a sudden, they replaced my washer. So, you gotta be on it. They're not very reliable. But it is what it is. You have to know you're right. But I've had my toilet worked on and that was great. When the water heater was leaking, the contractor was amazing.

Called for service. Unable to get parts, turns out nobody knew who was ordering the parts, the actual repair company or AHS. Turns out AHS and they never did order the parts. Seems like not having AC is no big deal, even if it 100 degrees and humid. 3 months of nothing happening even after being repeatedly being told on the phone parts have been ordered. Turns out they lied about ordering parts and it would easier and cheaper to save 60 dollars a months on paying them and just getting a new AC. As previously stated, worst company ever. The only thing worse than their service on getting anything fixed is their service in cancelling memberships. They even had the audacity to send me a bill to cancel my membership after not repairing my AC. I would rate less than zero if I could.

I've recommended them to others because we've had nothing but good experiences. I have been an AHS customer for probably 20 years and I've had them at this house as well as my previous house. I had one of those slow drip leaks that you don't pay attention to behind the toilet. I was preparing for my brother and his family to come up. So I was gonna freshen up the guest bathroom and I noticed a puddle of water. I traced it back with my hand and felt around and saw it was coming from the toilet. I live alone so I don't use it and by the time I noticed it, it had done damage to the baseboard, drywall and the vanity. The contractor fixed that and had to cut a big chunk of drywall out, and replace the vanity and the baseboards.
American Home Shield’s website doesn't tell you who will service you but it tells you that somebody will reach out to you within 24 hours. I've submitted claims early in the morning and I've had people call me that same day to set up an appointment. And if it's later in the afternoon, after business hours, and if I set it up, the company will call typically in the morning that next day. The majority of the contractors have been good. I had a little bit of an issue with one and I had to keep going back and forth. They had to order a part for my stove and the communication wasn't what I expected it or needed it to be. I had to do most of the following-up with them as opposed to them following up with me and keeping me abreast of what was going on with the stove. Still, American Home Shield is worth the money and I've referred them to several of my friends and family members.

AHS gives prompt attention to my service requests and I can usually request online. But there had been a couple of instances when I requested pool service where I would have liked to have requested a particular contractor because I've been serviced by two different pool contractors that work for American Home Shield and I found that one is quite a bit better than the other. One of them didn't seem as knowledgeable as the other pool contractor. It seemed like he struggled to diagnose the problem, and he would fix the pool, but it wouldn't get fixed. And there have been some instances where he had to return at least a second, sometimes even a third time, to get it fixed right. But to request a specific contractor, you have to call in and that's a much lengthier process where there's a 30-minute hold time, which is not acceptable. So sometimes I just dispense with that because it's too much work.
Other than the occasional pool contractor, the techs I've had have always been aces. I would use my warranty at least once a quarter and recently, I had claim when I didn't have power from one entire wall of my kitchen. When the contractor came, he pointed out to me that there's a reset button on the outlet that I could have pressed to reboot. I know about checking the circuit breaker thing in the garage, but I didn't know about that little button and it was something as simple as that. The tech was very good and he didn't make me feel silly. I wound up paying for the service call, but it was educational because now, when it happens again, that's what I'd do. I've been satisfied enough with AHS that I've stuck with them all these years. I know I have options, but I'm still with them.

The water wasn't going from the refrigerator side to the freezer side draining appropriately. So, I called American Home Shield once to have a contractor look at it and fix it. It worked for two months. But it stopped working and water backed up again. I called AHS and let them know. They required me to pay extra another round in order for a technician to come out. So, I told them to cancel my service. That got escalated, and they went ahead, sent out a technician with no charge. The technician that came out was a good, friendly guy. He took out the same pieces on the front panel within the refrigerator. It's like a water heater to melt the ice. And he blew out the pipe that goes from the top to the bottom. According to him, that step was missed. And he said from now on, it wouldn't happen anymore.
I had a water line issue. The pressure in some of my sinks weren't adequate on the hot side versus cold. So, I called AHS, paid for the fee, scheduled time, and the lady called me back saying that we needed to reschedule. Her technician wasn't able to make it and I said, "Okay, fine." The second time around, no one showed. I called and complained with AHS. They claimed that I would get my money back. I never did. So, I filed a complaint with my credit card company and they credited me back. I complained to AHS about it. They wanted to charge me again and have somebody scheduled to come up. But I didn't feel comfortable because they didn't manage the process well. AHS is good to have. But like any other company, the service varies. Also, they're overpriced for their membership fee. I've been thinking about moving from them, but I just haven't had a chance to look at other competitors.
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. Please know that I'd like to look into this further. I'll be back in touch with you soon.

American Home Shield’s service has been great. I reported the issue with the dryer last week and the techs came out and took the dryer partially apart. They ordered a part and it came in and they're coming back sometime between 12:00 and 5:00. It’s a five-hour window, which is big, but it’s expected. It would be a little nicer if they could say they’re gonna be here between 3:00 and 5:00.
There's a whole bunch of items in your house that are covered by AHS such as the air conditioning, built-in microwaves, and washer and dryer. It's nice to do a predictive cost as opposed to just being surprised. When they break, you're looking at a $300 visit minimum from a repair person. I'm paying 70 bucks a month and whatever goes wrong with it, it'll cost me $108.25. So, I can allocate whatever the price is per month. $900 a year, spread out over 12 equal payments and I have a reserve of a couple of $100 that I'll have to keep to repair anything.
Five years ago, the air conditioning went out shortly after we moved in and the techs said they could keep repairing it but it was never going to work. It was designed poorly. We bought a house that has a builder's air conditioner and it's a bad air conditioner. They gave me the make and the model and put me in touch with a company that was extremely professional and efficient and had a reasonable price. They came in and did the work, and it was all said and done within a day and a half. You wouldn't have known that they'd even been in the house.
AHS had great contacts and the people were here doing what they were supposed to do when they were gonna be here. There's been a couple of scheduling issues like we can't get anybody in for a week. That's a long time to go when something's busted. One item that got broken that they had to replace was the built-in microwave. The back and forth and finding a replacement took about a month. Otherwise, it was great.

I didn't realize that the item wasn't covered, which was why the service couldn't be done. But for the most part, they've come through and they've saved me hundreds of dollars in the long run. AHS sent Suffolk Appliance out and they did great. The gentleman saw what the issue was and there was a part that he had to order. It was fairly fast. But the issue was they were backed up so it took them two weeks to get us on their schedule. I like the AHS app because it's less time-consuming and I can go straight to the links that I need to go through and everything is more easily accessible. The turnaround time is usually within 24 hours. I was happy with the price I was paying back in November but I'm trying to figure out why the bill went up over the last two months.

American Home Shield does a yearly increase without letting you know about it. I called and asked why and told them that last time, the increase was $10 but now, it's 18. The reps don't know why. Another thing is when you put a work order in, normally, they don't debit your account until the work is completed. The last time, I put the work order in and before the technician came out and did the work, they had taken the money out of my account already. I was not pleased with that. The time before that, I had two issues at home and AHS allowed me to put it on one work order. But now, they don't do that. Everything is separate. I've spoken with different people there but nobody can give me insight on anything.
I can’t understand what the customer service rep is saying because of their accent. I don't mean any harm but I always ask to speak to someone that speaks English well. But everyone who has been out to my home is great. I just need to know why there's an increase every single year and if there's gonna be an increase, AHS should let their people know and give them an update as to why. We don't use them a lot but I wanna have it. Just in case something happens, we're covered.

American Home Shield is very easy to use and supportive. We've had it for a while. I can do it online or I can call when filing a request. I did the last two online, which was very simple. A couple of major appliances were either throwing the electric breaker or something wasn't working. AHS sent someone out to take a look to fix it and we went from there. They fixed one of my air conditioners once. AHS is a great company and I liked all the contractors. They've all been professional and very respectful of my property. I would recommend AHS if people needed a home warranty. They're fast, professional and very helpful.

American Home Shield's website is user-friendly. You can get to the claim page from the front page, which was very, very helpful. But for our last claim, we had to call four times to solve one problem with my heater and it was really cold. I wanted to have the dryer taken off the gas line, but then the gas line was sealed. We've already got a new electric dryer from my mom and dad that we were gonna put in instead of the gas dryer. American Home Shield said that they don't do that type of work. So we're gonna have to have the gas company come out and do it.

After I report an issue, it takes so long for someone to come out until it's bad. The guy that came out to repair the microwave took it out of the screws and put it on the counter, which the first guy didn't do. It was unnecessary. I was sitting there because I work from home, and I saw a big spark. Then he asked me if he could leave the microwave on the counter. He said he needed to order a part, which whatever part he messed up was not the part that was wrong with it. So, then he shabbily left and put it back up in there because he was mad because I wouldn't let him leave it and get out. Then he showed up about two months later, and that microwave would have been on that counter. I told him, “No, because we had a party or something. And I'm not just going to let you leave a hole in my wall.”
I called Home Shield, told them what I happened and what I was going to do, and that I did not like what the guy did in his repair. Whatever he did, he messed the microwave up. We need a new microwave. I told them to don't ever send him again. But he kept trying to come back and I kept telling him, “No.” Home Shield said they had to send him back because he had to complete what he had done to bring the part back.
When the other guy came out, he said, “Whatever he took out, the part he took out, I can't replace. I can't fix the microwave because he's taken the part out.” He ended up having to come back because they told me he had to bring the part back. I said, “Get a part to someone else knew to have them come out.” He brought the part back. In the meantime, he shabbily put it back up there while we were looking. The screws are not done. The door is messed up and you can't close it. The other guy had to try to repair the door and then get the microwave back because it's a heavy microwave. He replaced that part that he broke that either he remanufactured or there was still something wrong with the same part that he brought back to replace. Now, the microwave doesn't come on again. It's the same thing.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

American Home Shield is very fast and high-tech. So, there's a lot of communication. They have been quick to respond. Almost as soon as I scheduled a work order on the app, I would get a text and an email saying that AHS has assigned a technician to the problem. The next day, I would already hear from the technician. So, we've been impressed with it and there are follow-up texts and emails asking how things went.
The first couple of years, I didn't use AHS much. I had an HVAC unit on the other side of my house that needed service and that went well. This year, I've had to use AHS a couple of times. We had a dishwasher go on us, we had the heating thing, and another thing was my kitchen faucet, which I didn't know was covered by AHS, but it was. And in the case of my appliances, we could not have been more pleased. We also had an oven that stopped working. It was the perfect storm this year. The appliance service company that came out and worked with us was awesome. The guy was such an expert and was able to take care of the whole situation and fix our oven. We ended up getting a new dishwasher. So, I would highly recommend AHS. It has been a good experience for us.
In most cases, the technicians have been very professional and have done a good job. We have been very satisfied. My system was not working. The temperature had dropped considerably. It was very cold and we had no heat. Fortunately, we have a gas fireplace. So we were able to survive. But it was a pain. I set up the claim with AHS through the app, which was very easy to do. I had set it up on a Saturday and the tech he was there on Monday. He diagnosed the problem, had to order a part, the part came in a few days later. So, we had several days when we didn't have heat. It was not the most comfortable situation, but they did the best they could. They had to order the part, got the part, came out and installed it. Unfortunately, that didn't work.
The part was in transit from shipping. It was a motor that has a circular fan on it that pushes the heat up into the house. It was in a metal housing and, in shipping, it had been squashed. The tech hadn't noticed that in installing it. It was hard to see. So, he had to come back out and was able to remove the motor, adjust the housing, the fan worked and it has been fine since. In the winter with heating, you have a danger of freezing pipes. Would have been nice if it could have been a quicker turnaround time. But it was also close to the holidays. So, there were extenuating factors that we understood. But overall, we were pleased with their response time.

Everything with American Home Shield has always been very pleasant except the two times in the last five years where my service was denied. But my recent experiences in the last year and a half has been very good. It was an easy process to set up the claim. I even got used to setting it up online, which makes it easier. Then I get a text message and an email and a phone call. Everything's fine. But I really have a sore spot because we have a pump that is part of my property and part of my home foundation that takes standing water on my back deck, which is part of the home foundation. It pumps it way out across my back acre. That pump burned out and American Home Shield, through a lot of appeals, said they wouldn't cover it.
My greatest frustration was whenever I had to appeal to somebody, there was a language barrier when I called. The appeals process was very cumbersome. I've done 20 calls in the last 10 years and there were two or three of them that have been very, very aggravating. Also, they raised the rates this year on another 30 bucks, which I haven't addressed yet. But as far as the service, it is good.

I've had a stoppage. Prestige Plumbing has come out a number of times for us. American Home Shield randomizes the contractors so it’s fair for the contractors. But a lot of times, the contractors have people who are smokers. My wife is highly-reactive to cigarette smoke, even if it’s secondhand. We've asked for Prestige Plumbing because we know that their guy, who usually comes out is a non-smoker. We've had them out a number of times. I wanted a new toilet installed. I went out, bought the toilet. They came and installed it for me. They were great. The tech had been out a couple of weeks earlier to clear the same stoppage, but it did the same thing again. And they fit us within the same day. Which was great.
Some of the workflows that are AHS online are not accounted for all the different permutations of the workflow. Online, for example, if I get assigned the wrong person, I have to call to get reassigned rather than having a way to do that. Have the contractor reject it. Have it come back to me. Writing something to explain why it has been rejected, get redone. That could be a bit smoother. Other than that, go for AHS.

I've only had to deal with American Home Shield one time and it wasn't very good. I called in a refrigerator compressor on a Friday and nobody works on the weekend. So, I had nobody to come out on the weekend. And whoever was assigned it to called me on Monday and said, "I'm really sorry but we don't work on LG appliances." So, AHS assigned it to a company that doesn't even work on the appliance that I had, which meant that it had to go back to AHS again. "Can you work on an LG appliance?" That's the first thing they should do. So, we were on day four without a refrigerator.
AHS had to give our claim to another contractor who came out and told me that I needed a new compressor, and it took them four days to approve it. I had to call AHS three times and ask them why they weren't approving it. I've had AHS for six years. I have to pay $60 every month, I got one claim and they dragged their feet on it and at the refrigerator? I understand if it's a washer or dryer, but it's my refrigerator. I had to take food to my son's house or my neighbor's house. It wasn't pleasant.
The contractor told me that he didn't stock that item and he would have to order it. I talked to him every day, and by Thursday I said, "I don't understand this. If they don't approve this until tomorrow, you're still gonna have to order it, and I'm gonna go into the next week." He said, "No, Jody. I went ahead and ordered the compressor anyway, hoping that they would approve it". That's the only reason I get my new compressor on a Friday, a week later. It took me one week and it took me getting involved. I've had many friends that I encouraged to sign up for AHS that have canceled it. There were five of us that went on this at the same time and I'm the only one left that still got the coverage.
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. Please know that I'd like to look into this further. I'll be back in touch with you soon.

I've only been in this house I'm in now for about a year and I'm paying $90 a month here. I have another home in Muskogee that I inherited from my father and I insured that with American Home Shield years ago. It's maybe worth 30,000 and I started out with them at $75 a month. The last renewal, AHS raised it to $125 a month. I didn't wanna cancel but I did because I was a loyal customer who started at a certain level and every year, they raised it some percentage. And regardless of what the property was worth or what the repairs were on that property, they just arbitrarily raised it to this ridiculous amount per month that is way more than what anything in the house would be worth. They were only concerned about raising it so each year, it went up with no thought that I've been a loyal customer for probably 20 years. If it happens with the house I'm in now, I'll drop them too.
It's not that I don't like the company, but that's not a very good or smart policy. When you call the company, you always get somebody offshore now, which isn't necessarily bad, but it is when you have a real issue because you're not talking to anybody with authority. I've always had home warranties. It's a good idea but only when it pays. The last time a contractor from AHS came out, a single wire in the air conditioner looked like it'd been pulled away. The man who came out had been out for something else once so we knew each other. We were dumbfounded by it and couldn’t figure out what caused it. It was a $100 service call. It was like sabotage but nobody lives there and I just use it from time to time. I was using it last year for a full week during that heat wave.
AHS was always a good company. But some of their vendors aren't the best. The Sears vendor was dreadful. They came out to fix the refrigerator in the house and it took them six months to go back and forth and say they fixed it and didn't fix it. They ordered a part and the policy of American Home Shield is you can't switch vendors if they've ordered a part. So, I was stuck with that vendor. And I couldn't get anyone else who could fix it. I wound up buying a new refrigerator and putting that refrigerator out on the patio. Some other more reachable local vendor came out and replaced the cooling fan, which is a $20 part, in five minutes. And that refrigerator worked. I gave it to my friend. It was easy to fix it but I had a brand new GE refrigerator that was all fancy.
Most of the people are great but every once in a while, you get one of those. I've learned quickly to say no if they start that. When they wanna take an appliance into the shop and they can't fix it on-site, which they're supposed to do, that's usually representative of a bad vendor who is gonna milk American Home Shield for as much money because they pay their vendors well.
My first experience with AHS was in Texas with my house there and the first vendor I got was a complete lunatic and a crook. Everybody's been good but the ones I remember are the ones that had been bad. I spoke to someone else in the company and I said they needed to get rid of that person. They were terrible and dishonest. Many years later, one of the little wine refrigerators broke and they tried to send the guy out again. I said I didn't want him here and they told me to give him a try and that they talked to him. The guy came out and wired the refrigerator backward. So, it worked and then stopped working. I got my friend to come and he told me exactly what it was. They wanted to do the same thing which was take the refrigerator to their shop.
If you're gonna replace your appliance because it's unfixable, there's a budget for that and these dishonest people know how much there is to spend and they'll try to fix it for hundreds of dollars. So, when you go to replace the product, the consumer only has $100 left in your budget to do that. So, they take away the benefit of getting the new appliance. That only happened once, but it was a real eye-opener. My first thought when I moved to Texas was this was just like Oklahoma. That's why I always value the home warranty because Tulsa is better. But in Muskogee, it was impossible to find anybody who wanted to work or was honest to do a job anymore. It's changed for some reason. There's just no competition.
I thought Muskogee, when I moved back there, would be better because it’s the little town I grew up in. But it was dreadful. But AHS has always done its job. Some of what is wrong with that company has to do with management. The choice to have offshore call centers isn't a great choice, but a lot of companies make it now, just like a lot of companies have long difficult voice mail when you call them. AHS doesn't do that. You could do the claim online, which is great. By and large, they've been good as well as all the vendors. AHS doesn’t understand customer loyalty though and doesn't reward it. They have lost a lot of business for people like me who are spending so much now when I've been with their company so long. And that's only because nobody has paid attention to how long I've been there. So, they just keep raising the rates.
I try to only use the website because depending on when you call, the call times could be a little long. And the only time I ever call is when there's something extraordinary. There was something in the last year that it would be nice if it could be done now and I tried to call to see if I could get it done more quickly. Because sometimes, if you stress it as sort of an emergency, they will try to accommodate you. You can't do that through the app. The app just makes the appointment for whatever it is.
I’ve been trying to get to know the vendors. I've had a couple of plumbing issues and it's the same old guy from the same company. I've talked to them and they know me and I know them, which is nice that it's not someone new each time. American Home Shield doesn't necessarily keep their vendors that long. Some of the companies, that's all the work they do. So, they'll stay with them. But a lot of them are starting out. I've noticed over the years that the wife is at home manning the phone and the husband is out doing whatever the service is. And they communicate by cell phone. They're not companies that normally, you'll be able to even use if you were looking for, say, a plumber. They're companies that only work for those guys.

My dishwasher stopped working and it was leaking water behind it, which was running out under the patio. I contacted American Home Shield and the first guy that came said that they were going to have to order parts, which was for replacement supply lines or replacement hoses. Then, they called and told me they were going to come out and install them. But they brought the wrong parts with them and the guy said that the parts that they ordered didn't work on my machine. Then, the guy put some kind of sealant on the areas that were chewed on the supply lines. It was something that he was squeezing out of a tube and he said that that works really well for sealing those areas.
He told me to let it sit overnight then try to run the dishwasher in the morning and it shouldn't leak. So, I started it in the morning and water went everywhere. I called them and told them that it was still leaking. The repairman said that I had a mouse problem and there were mice coming in and chewing on the supply line. He said my policy wouldn't cover that but they'd fix it for me this one time. He said that if I could get my mouse problem taken care of, they'd come out and repair it. But he said if my mouse problem continues, then any future repairs on it would be my responsibility. So, I bought a bunch of mouse traps and sticky traps and got the mouse problem under control. But then I got a letter from American Home Shield that said that the repair was not going to be covered because damages caused by animals aren't covered. So, the mouse problem had been eradicated but the dishwasher is still sitting there not running.
Other than that, we had a claim when our water heater went out and the techs came in and replaced that right away. AHS was Johnny-on-the-spot and we didn't have any problems. We also had a problem with our clothes washer, and the techs came out and fixed it once. Then we had to call them again because the same problem occurred after the fix. The techs came out and said that it couldn't be fixed and that it needed to be replaced. So, they put in a brand-new washer.
I then had them come out for the dryer a couple of times because when we put the clothes in, close the door, and push the button, we got nothing. The guy came out and said that it was full of lint. He said that it was a repair but a maintenance issue. So, American Home Shield wasn't going to cover it. I had to pay the guy directly $75 to come out and clean the lint. He opened the machine and I saw that there was a lot of lint backed up into it. I also paid him an additional $75 to take the machine apart and clean out the the lint so it wouldn't overheat and it would run.
So, when we first started with AHS, if we called and we had an issue, they were very responsive. I've had a couple of plumbing issues as well and the plumbing people that they sent were just dynamite. They did excellent work and they showed up when they said they were going to. But when they installed the water heater, they said that they weren't responsible for putting the vent hose or the vent pipe in the top of it. So, they just left that way there. I had a hole in my roof that that pipe was supposed to extend to, so water poured in. And we ended up having the roof repaired because of that hole.
The roof repair people went ahead and installed the vent pipe for that water heater. They came in and had to replace some pipes in my sink. We had cast iron pipes and they replaced it with PVC because they were occluded, had corroded, and were cut down to where there's a quarter of an inch clearance for water to pass through. But they went under the sink and cut out drywall to get to those. So, when the tech finished I asked if they were going to put those pieces back into the drywall with a little glue or just leave that open. He said I had to call my drywall repairman for that and that he didn't do that. Then, when we had the mouse problem, I realized that they were coming in through the holes that he had cut into the drywall behind my sink. So, one thing led to another.
I also have a complaint about the plate that my kitchen faucet goes through that is corroded. It's slowly disintegrating and when I asked them if they could replace the faucet or the base plate, they said that the reason it's corroding is because I don't have a water softener. But water doesn't even come in contact with that. All it does is hold the faucet in place.
All in all, I'm semi-satisfied with AHS. I'm not really happy with the rate increase and the decrease in service. I would also tell my friends that I've had some satisfactory stuff done but my satisfaction dealt more with the contractor that they sent than the company itself. They're turning down and opting out of more jobs than they're doing at this point. But before, I could go in, put down what my issue was, and there wasn't a big deal. Also, the plumber that came the last time said that they had a meeting at his plumbing place and it was something about fraudulent charges going on with American Home Shield. So, he said they had to call them and get everything approved before they do any work.

I've been using American Home Shield for seven years, and I like having the coverage. My AC went out during the summer twice, and their website was super helpful. Instead of staying on hold on the phone for a long time, I just entered a claim, then the right people contacted me soon after. The repair people they assigned were awesome. They were very communicative about when they were gonna be there, and they were on time. They explained stuff and talked us through things. They were supposed to get back to us about giving us a new unit and quoting us, but I still haven't heard back from them. However, I can't afford it right now, so I just let it go.

In the past, my experience with AHS was overall satisfactory. But I had an issue with them when they charged me twice for a job. They said the claim had two different things, but I thought it was one charge per visit. I also told them that the same company was coming for both things. There shouldn't be two charges. But in the end, we resolved it and they gave me credit. Aside from that, when we had a plumbing issue, it took the contractor at least 45 days until we heard back from them. It wasn't a bad leak but if there's a leak at home, you cannot wait five days until the plumber calls you.

The service from AHS has been terrible. Even if I tell them exactly what's wrong, they send the wrong technician, I tell them the manufacturer, then we have to start all over again. When I first started, they were a much better company. But now, I'm looking for someone else. Also, it takes a long time for someone to answer the phone at AHS. Most of the calls go to Vietnam and to other places where there are roosters. Very few are in the United States. That's fine but there's got to be a better way of communication.

It's the luck of the draw with American Home Shield's technicians and vendors. People have to vet them. If they don't review them on Yelp or Google, they might get someone really bad, and if they just trust what they're saying, they might put themselves in the hole. When American Home Shield sent a vendor for the AC, it was one from Rocklin, and they said, "You need to replace your whole system." We got a second evaluation by another tech and they said, "Your system is fine," and they replaced the part. Recently, the back of our washer had a leak, and AT Appliance came out, evaluated it, and ordered a part. It took about a week, then they installed the part, and so far, everything is good.
Another problem with American Home Shield is they raise their rates every year without even telling people, and there are major things they don't cover, like AC and furnace. If they can't fix it, they won't pay people out. They'll give a subsidized amount, which is nothing. It doesn't help at all. We're real estate agents, and we refer Home Shield because they're the best home warranty company around for our area. However, even when I tell them, "Hey, listen. I'm referring you. You guys have 20 different referrals from me. Do a better job," they don't, and we're stuck with that.

We recommend AHS. Whenever we have a claim, we would put in the requests online, then we'd be contacted by their agency to let us know who the agent would be. After that, that company would call us and we'd set up an appointment. We had claims for a dishwasher and a dryer that were not working, and the vendors we worked with were pretty good. They had to get some parts then they came back. Having AHS gives us peace of mind and we like the ease of finding contractors.

I like American Home Shield. They've fixed the things that I've asked them to fix. Even at one time, there was a problem with the contractor they used to repair a clothes washer. It was Sears, and that was an awful experience, but finally, somebody at AHS was able to contact the person that deals with contracts. That particular service was not the best, but AHS did their part. While it took a few phone calls, somebody was able to hook up with them and get the problem solved, which was nice. They replaced the clothes washer.
I use AHS like I do a home insurance. When I have a problem, they're there and they're good about it. They recently had someone come out for a problem that was created by the air conditioning people they sent out prior to that the year before, and they were able to figure it out and fix the problem. Overall, nothing in this new world goes 100% smoothly. There are always bumps in the road, but American Home Shield has been able to handle them. I've gotten a number of things fixed and dealt with their agents and those were the issues that were either satisfactory or unsatisfactory, but overall, the people at AHS were fine.

Fine print allows you to go into a new 1 year contract just by sending an email stating. They wouldn’t put me into a new plan since there is only a 30 period to change plans once renewal date takes into effect. Customer service was so hard to understand and was rude. Terrible business model. Let a 6 year customer leave instead of offering the rate a new customer gets. I went with Choice Home Warranty instead. Don’t waste your time with AHS.

The last time I reached out to American Home Shield, I called them over the phone. When I had problems with my garbage disposal and one bathroom that the tank wouldn't fill up, they had a plumber come out and look at both of them. He had to go to the office and get the piece that he needed to replace the part in the toilet, then he fixed everything in about 25 minutes. It was all done in the same day, and I've had no issues with them at all. I don't know what plumbers charge today, but I believe I paid a little more than I should have for the work that he did. Any of the contractors can’t just do something on their own. They gotta come out and evaluate the problem, and then instead of just taking care of it, which you would think what you'd be able to do If they're your trusted supplier, they have to report back to American Home Shield, take pictures and get approval. So that's a loss of time by AHS. I had one complaint where they wanted me to go in and take pictures of the problem in my freestanding ice maker. But the ice maker doesn't work and I couldn't take a picture of the problem. So, that waste of time is annoying. And if you ever have to call American Home Shield, good luck because you forever get the message of increased call volume. They’ve had increased call volume for 10 years. They should hire a few more people.
I have three contracts and I replaced the air conditioner at my home in Huntington Valley three years ago and in Ocean City, New Jersey, the summer before last. I paid for it all out-of-pocket and never reported it despite it being covered because I knew how long they were going to take. You can't be without cooling when you've got 90-degree days with huge humidity in this part of the country. In Ocean City, New Jersey, AHS doesn't have enough qualified people. I had a problem down there with the circulating pump on my hot water system. So it was another plumbing issue. It's a summer home and we were there. I called the request in and the contractor made an appointment to come out to examine the problem but they never showed up. I made a second appointment and they never showed up again.
We were leaving about the third week in June and I couldn't deal with it. My family comes in and uses it. I can't have them inconvenienced. So I have to come back in August when we're down for the month. I set up an appointment through American Home Shield for early August while we were there and that contractor never showed up again. I was so fed up. I left to go until the following year, which was this past summer and when I called AHS, I said they had to send me a different contractor. And they said the contractor that had been out had already ordered the part. I said I cannot deal with that contractor. They missed three appointments and I still have the problem.
AHS assigned a different contractor who came out but he had to go through the whole thing all over again. So, some things like that get so frustrating that every now and then, I would ask if it’s worth it. I'm spending roughly $100 a month. We have a lot of things that can break in the home with all the appliances so I put up with it but I wonder.

I tried to get something fixed thru AHS and it was a crazy runaround situation. I told them it was a really bad move because I would cancel. There was an issue with a window air conditioner unit that was inside the wall. So, it was a little bit raised. Because the house is a smaller house, it doesn't need a lot of air conditioning. But the air conditioner itself is super cheap and 30 years old. Plus, there were no screws in the back of it to access it to “fix it.”
So, when the techs went to the outside of the house, there were no screws and they couldn't get into the unit to repair it. They said they couldn't do get access to it but I told them that there's no access because it's an old air conditioner, it's not because there's no room to get at it. There's plenty of room. So, we went round and around. AHS also said that they couldn't send someone else who could access it. So, I was so frustrated. Aside from that, when I called AHS about this concern, the rep I was talking to was at a call center somewhere else and they didn't care. They were just following protocol and reading the script.

My last experience with American Home Shield wasn't all that great. I had a problem with my air conditioner and I would have to upgrade my whole system to get them to repair this little piece. I was getting the runaround. I'm paying 125 bucks a month to American Home Shield and they didn't want to cover replacing the AC. So I was not too pleased. I'm gonna have to finance it myself. I had to have two technicians come out because the first one didn't recognize that it was a problem. He did something and the air started blowing a little cooler. But that was because it wasn't a hot day. Once we had 100-degree weather, I had to call them back to have somebody else come back out and that was when they diagnosed the problem correctly.

It's really bad when filing a service request because you talk to somebody in another country and sometimes you can't really understand them. Recently, I had an AC claim and Air Pro Masters tech came out. He said it could be fixed, but it was gonna cost $1,400. He also said they have to reroute it and he would fix it so I don't ever have to use Freon again. He was supposed to come back but he never did. They sent a second guy out and he said there was nothing wrong with the unit. But it was making a loud noise. I called my friends who have an air conditioning company and it turned out I needed eight or nine pounds of Freon. But Air Pro Masters was gonna gouge the homeowner and screw everybody. They're gonna do something that’s really not necessary. Home Shield should send somebody else out.
Also, we had this huge rainstorm that came through Vegas two times and there was massive flooding in places. Thousands and thousands of roofs needed fixing and we needed some roof stuff. By the time I got the roofer, it was three months. Their excuse was they they couldn't find anybody to go out here and that they were backed up. Then, the tech came and he removed the shingles on the roof and it took him 8 hours. The tar paper just happened to wear out. For weeks and weeks, I was emptying buckets every time it rained but the guy fixed it in eight hours. The roofer said, "It's too bad you have that company." But the lady on the phone that I talked to was very nice. She said they were gonna get on it and apologized. She had the skills down and she spoke good English. I could understand her.

Two companies came out to deal with an electrical problem and the first one was incompetent and the guy didn't know what he was doing. American Home Shield then sent out a second contractor who came out and did the work. The techs had to replace a couple of outlets. It was a minor stuff but the guy from the first company didn't have the parts in the truck, so he figured he'd make it a complex thing. AHS spends too much time trying to deny claims than they should. And whenever you have someone come out, you have to pay X number of dollars. That fee is too high.
We've considered many times the value of getting rid of AHS versus doing the work ourselves. But for some reason, my secretary just keeps on renewing it. AHS comes up with a lot of reasons not to honor a claim and tries to put so many caveats into the certain types of coverage that they do. They're always trying to find a loophole. It's business these days. Also, they put a bunch of people from overseas on the line to try to interpret your coverages when I’m an attorney. I can read them a little better than the people they put on the line. There are some pluses and a lot of minuses too. So, it's just something you have to weigh. I look at it from the perspective we’ve got 30 years invested with them. I will stick with them. I haven't done the math to calculate what I could have done. Because if I do, I'll probably freak out.

And the only thing I pay for is the call and it's 75 bucks. The most recent claim I had was to come and check the heater before the winter came in. They didn't find anything wrong. And the guy thanked me and left, and I never heard anything from anybody anymore. So, my $75 was it. The one before that, I asked him to come in and check the air condition before the summer. That's why I remember one year. Because I called them before the summer and I called them before the winter. Both times went smooth.
I read somewhere where they had a problem with the wrong estimates and contractors always wanted to sell more product. I never had that. And I had another guy call me and tell me, "Be careful with them because all they do is repair, they don't replace. Everything that they do, they just wanna replace it and they wanna charge you extra." I've never had that experience.

I had a plumbing stoppage. Northwest Sundance was very unprofessional. They didn't show up when they were supposed to. When they came, they said that the problem was taken care of, and that they ran water for 15 minutes. I got home the next morning, and took a shower with the same problem. So, they didn't take care of the problem. They came out two other times. The third time they came out, supposedly, they hydrojetted the problem. They left water all over my bathroom. That went all the way into my closet. Then I got something from American Home Shield saying I needed to pay for them to fix the problem. It was $650 for the pipe. I could never get them to tell me what it was that needed to be done.
Everybody at American Home Shield kept reading me a pipe replacement, which is a pipe modification. I wanted to know what are they modifying. It didn't make any sense to me. Nobody could tell me what it was. I didn't have any confidence in these people to come out to my house and do the work. So, they sent somebody else out to scope it to see if they could figure out what the problem was. They scoped it, figured out what the problem was, and then American Home Shield closed my case.
I still have the problem, so they sent new plumbers out, but they still wanted to send out Northwest Sundance. I said, “I do not want those people coming.” So, I had to wait about three weeks until I could get a different plumbing company to come. They told me that Northwest Sundance was the only one available. I said, “That's the only plumbing company you have?” They said, “Well, that's the only one that's available because people want the other preferred one.” I said, “Well, then that's a problem. You shouldn't be using someone…” When I looked up the reviews, they had a two-star review.

AHS sent a company out, they came out four different times, they couldn't fix it, and they finally sent another person out. They installed everything, but all they had to do was program it. So, it was resolved.
American Home Shield is great as far as following up an issue. It's just they'll give you a great rate in the beginning, but then it keeps rising. Even when I wasn't using it, it was rising. But they're a good company. The coverage is good, and any time I submitted a claim, somebody was out there right away. They sent someone who fixed the leaky toilet. I went online and told them what the issue was. I put it in the comments and said I had a toilet that was leaking, and I put the information in, and then they took my money. They assigned a plumber, and a plumber called me. The plumbers did an amazing job. They were in and out.
