    We sent in a claim for a water heater and they approved the replacement, and we had it within the next day. It was quick and easy. It needed a repair at first. But that didn't solve the problem, so they came back and replaced the heater. We usually send in my claims over the phone. All we have to do is walk through the prompts and then we get a response back from them a couple of hours lately. We've got good service with everybody they've sent. They've usually been professional and friendly. Unfortunately, we don't get to choose who the repair company is.

    The only bad experience we had was in 2021 with our furnace. The furnace went out the first week of September, and we didn't get a new furnace until the middle of December. Meanwhile, we were heating the house with a fireplace and like four or five electric heaters, which turned out, in the long run cost us $480 a month in electrical bills. All of it mostly was because American Home Shield ordered the wrong furnace twice, and they just kept sending it back.

    One time, they didn't order the wrong one, they sent it to the wrong location, like the top of the state, and the furnace people refused to travel a day to go get it. But that wasn't part of their job. In December, they just said, "Just put in whatever furnace you have in stock." But we were out of heat for quite a while. They had the new furnace all along, they just wouldn't give us the upgrade.

    The electricity on one side of my wall and my kitchen went out. I sent in a claim online and it was very convenient. The website was user-friendly and pretty quick. American Home Shield gave me a quick response time frame for them to assign a company to come out. It was convenient. The contractor did the work pretty quickly. I showed them where the breaker box was. The tech tried some stuff and then went back in to look at the outlets and figured out what it was pretty quick. He just had to tighten up some wires in the outlet.

    My icemaker was not working and my refrigerator was leaking. The contractor came out and they fixed. A part had to be ordered for my icemaker and that took a while. I called back in December of ’22 and it was just fixed in February. But once they got the part in, they repaired everything. However, my refrigerator was still leaking. All I had to do was defrost it. Everything is working fine now. The tech was good. He was very knowledgeable and helpful.

    When I first started with American Home Shield, I was paying about 50 dollars. Now, I'm up to 87 a month. Other than that, most of the technicians they send out can fix the problem. The only issue I do have with them is every year I've had some type of problem with my AC, and they just keep patching it and patching it and not just fixing up the problem, which is replacing the whole unit. I shouldn't have to call every year.

    We had a part malfunction on the garage door. The techs were able to fix it pretty easily. Working with them was a good experience. AHS makes it easy to submit work orders and not have to go through the process of finding a contractor. It streamlines the process of getting things fixed quickly. I recommend it especially for first-time homebuyers.

    My kitchen range was malfunctioning. The oven was not cooking at the right temperature, and one of my burners, I put it on low, and it went to high and burnt the food. I called American Home Shield, and my interaction with the rep was a lot better than it used to be. It used to be that I couldn't even get them on the phone. I'd have to call four times or be on hold for 40 minutes. This time, I wasn't on hold very long, and I got somebody to talk to.

    The rep set up the claim and gave me the name of the repair shop, then they contacted me about two days later. They came right out that week, then they had to order the parts. It took about a week, but if it wasn't for the weekend, it only took four days to get the parts. Overall, it was a good experience, and so far, my kitchen range has been working fine. The repair man had to put a new switch into the burner, and he adjusted the temperature in my oven. I'm very pleased with his work. He did a good job, and he was nice, courteous, and clean. American Home Shield is a good company. Do business with them.

    I've been happy with AHS whenever I've used them. But they've got that horrible automated thing that wanted to automatically take money out of my account to pay the $75. And when I eventually spoke to a real person, I said I would not do that and that the only way I would pay my $75, my part, was when I spoke to a real person. And they understood exactly why it bothered me. The techs they've sent out were all very pleasant and professional. They'd always come at the time they were going to come. They'd call me and say they would be here in 20 minutes. So far, they have fixed my garage door, but they came back because there was an issue and they realized it was their error. They also fixed my dishwasher and the latest thing was my attic fan. Since the repairs, everything has been excellent.

    I keep telling people they ought to sign up with AHS and they keep saying no because they don't want to spend the money. But having American Home Shield gives me a sense of relief that if something goes wrong, I don't have to rely on somebody else who says they're going to come and help me. This way, I pay the $75 and it's done.

    American Home Shield's website is good. When the door on my microwave broke, I filed a claim and they said, “The contractor is gonna be Sears. And they'll be out in three weeks.” I've used Sears twice, and they've both been on the long end of the arrival schedule, but this one was worse. Besides that, Sears said, “Okay. It's cheaper to replace it than to repair it.” They sent a thing to American Home Shield, and American Home Shield ended up replacing the unit with a nicer one.

    American Home Shield has been good, and their claims process is simple. I just call and say, “Hey, something is wrong.” They'll then get someone out to my house in 48 hours or 24 hours, if it's convenient, and get it repaired. One contractor they sent left my house really unkept. The air conditioning guy went up in the attic and left the attic door open. He also left a couple of things out of place. When I got home, it was a mess, and when I called the contractor, I didn't get a good response. The next time I had a call about the air conditioning, I told American Home Shield, “I don't want that guy in my house again,” and they accommodated me. It would be good to have a faster response time though. I know just about everybody's air conditioner breaks down in the summer time, but when you have kids and the air conditioner is down, it's a horror.

    American Home Shield did an annual check up on our furnace, and we had issues with getting the technicians to come out on time. They were supposed to come out and it got canceled for some reason, then it got rescheduled twice. It was the end of that period where they do the maintenance, and we said, "No, we didn't ask for it to be canceled." I'm not sure if it was the technicians or American Home Shield, but they eventually got it resolved and the technicians were great when they came out.

    With American Home Shield, I have peace of mind. Every time I've called in when we've had an issue, they've been prompt with getting someone out to get it resolved. If it didn't get resolved the first time, they made sure that they got it resolved the second time. Our daughter just bought a house, and we talked to her about getting a home warranty coverage. She chose a different company because of price point, but she got a home warranty.

    The techs had to come for a refrigerator that wasn't making ice. In the beginning, they said something was burned out at the back of where the ice maker is. They defrosted it and replaced it. But they had to come back because the ice still wasn't dropping down. They repaired the whole issue on the second trip and also put a rubber thing around it. But, what I don't like is that AHS does a timeframe and if it's passed, they charge all over again. That's not fair. Also, they do the payment upfront. The techs may not be able to fix your issue, and you still gotta keep waiting, but AHS already got their money.

    The wait time with AHS is too long sometimes and also, their reps are smart-mouthed but it's okay. My husband had a question about a refund they were gonna give back but we eventually got it.

I called to cancel American Home Shield. They offered me two free months to compare. Unfortunately, I was charged for the two "free" months. I have to request a refund now. Beware the promises.

    I’ve had a terrible experience with this company. I’ve had an event go out on my range, and for 2 years I’ve been trying to get it fixed. AHS has tried to claim the problem is a manufacturer defect (it’s not) and has tried multiple times to get out of the appropriate repair or replacement. They claim they haven’t received information, but they have because I have the emailed responses. My approved vendor has submitted everything they’ve requested, and have made many many phone calls with no resolution only excuses. I get representatives who cannot speak English and who have no means of actually getting anything done. I’ve even filed a complaint with our state Insurance Commission. That also didn’t help. My next step would be Arbitration or Small Claims. I have tried reaching out to Corporate with no luck. In hindsight I would have saved my money.

    American Home Shield's service has gotten worse in the last few years. My water heater needed to be replaced. American Home Shield had the vendor come and do the assessment. Based on the assessment, I wanted to go ahead and purchase a water heater and have it installed. But American Home Shield did every single thing to make it harder to be able to do this. They said that if I had a possible appointment with the vendor, then there was no way they would give me the details of what the offer would have been. I am living in the home for several days with no hot water. When I called any of these vendors, they gave me a far future date when they are able to come to do the work.

    If I cancel the appointment, that means when I call back, then they're going to defer it even further out. I'm going to be in the house without hot water for the longest time. So I have to look for a hotel to use. I escalated this claim. I had a conversation with the escalation manager and recorded it. They kept calling back, but they never gave me an opportunity to say, "Okay. This is what the offer would have been." It's a number. It should not have an impact on any possible appointment which you set with your vendor. Because the vendor would have booked that. I'm disappointed about the escalation management team.

    AHS has been awesome. So far, it's been super easy to make a request. Secondarily, they keep you informed as far as when to expect the individuals. They call out for the service. They also track everything inside their system. With the first phone call we made, when we got into the home and had a major drain backup, the folks were out very quickly. Everything got taken care of. They did the work and had to do a quick return trip to correct some other issues. There were also absolutely no concerns with AHS. Recently, we had our locks taken care of as rekey is part of the home warranty service itself, and then worked on the fridge. It's been wonderful the way that it's been treated. They've said, "Okay." Sent someone out. The tech was excellent, too.

    I've been a little frustrated with American Home Shield. There were a couple of months when I thought, "Okay, I'm canceling next month." But then there's been times where I'm like, "Wow, they were really on the ball. And this particular agent took good care of me." So it really varies depending on the person that I spoke to or assigned to me.

    We have American Home Shield on our rental property. We had renters and needed something repaired, and my property manager told me, "If you go through them, more than likely, our experience has been that it takes a few days, at the very least." It's true. So I lose money on American Home Shield, and I lost money during the rental season. For instance, the refrigerator wasn't working, and American Home Shield said, "Oh, yeah, we can't get anybody to you till next week." I told them, "Well, the renters are there for three days without a fridge, that just can't work." So then the property manager has to get me somebody and I pay out of pocket for everything, even though it would have been covered under American Home Shield.

    In a perfect world, I would be able to pick the people that I want to come and do the repairs because American Home Shield sent some repair people that weren't as good as others. I was warned that what they will try to do is do a quick repair that will probably not last. American Home Shield doesn't wanna pay for the unit or for the appliance to be replaced, so they'll keep doing these smaller repairs over, and then it will just keep breaking down. But they did replace a refrigerator for me this past year. They gave me a certain amount of money, and then I used that plus added more to it because I wanted a nicer fridge. But still, they did follow through with their contract, which was nice.

    With that refrigerator claim, American Home Shield gave me a repair person, and they came out and said, "Oh, yeah. Boy, that's gonna need a motor and it's gonna be a while." Because of that, I ended up buying a brand-new fridge on my own months later. So I put the broken one in the garage, and I put the new fridge in the kitchen. Months later, I called the repair company and said, "No one has come and repaired this refrigerator. It's been months." The rep said, "Oh, my goodness, I just pulled up your account. You know what? You need to call American Home Shield, they need to replace that refrigerator." So I contacted American Home Shield, and they did replace it. But it was months of waiting.

    I had a garage door that was making such a terrible sound that even the property manager said, "This is probably gonna break soon. You need to do something about this." So I called American Home Shield, and it took a few days for them to send someone out from a place that was in Florida, which was over an hour away. The people said, "Oh, this isn't a repair issue, this is a maintenance issue. It needs to have maintenance done to it, and American Home Shield doesn't cover this. And here's the bid." It was almost $400.

    I contacted my property manager and said, "Hey, here's what they told me. Is there someone that you use that's literally right here on the island?" She said, "Yeah, this is who we use. We really like them." I contacted them, and they came and said, "Oh yeah, we'll take care of it. It's a maintenance thing." They charged me $149. It's not something to fix, per se, so American Home Shield didn't cover it, but they still got my $100 just for making the call.

    I just purchased my house and I had to use AHS already twice. It was gonna be three times, but one of the other times, I had to cancel because the appointment that one of the technicians for a rekey was giving me was going to be too far out. I needed to change the locks on the house, so I had to cancel. But they moved through it quickly to try to get somebody else to do it. But the other people were busy too, so I just canceled. It was a good experience.

    The knob on the shower wasn't selecting the hot water. It was just cold water. They sent the plumber out and he fixed it in 10 minutes. I had another plumbing claim for my water heater. The water heater that we have is 18 years old. It's all full of build-up that it's not working properly. I called AHS so they can set up a technician so they could service the system. The technician said that he couldn't service it because it is too old and it wouldn't hold off to the service that they do to it, that it was going to start leaking if they performed the service. They might come in tomorrow to change the water heater. I like that AHS is quick to respond.

    I submitted a claim with AHS and it was the second time that I called them on the dryer. Everything went through fine, but when AHS contacted the repair shop that was going to do the repair, the repair shop thought it was for the same claim that I had the first time. They didn't realize it was a different claim, so it took a little longer for them to come out. It took about two weeks before they came out. But the guys who came were very professional and they got the job done. Since then, the dryer has been doing what it’s supposed to do. All in all, the warranty is worth getting.

    For my recent claim with AHS, the upstairs air conditioning unit was not working. The tech was very knowledgeable and professional. He explained to me what was going currently wrong with the unit. He repaired it quickly and in a timely manner. It was a good appointment. However, American Home Shield keeps putting a Band-Aid on the problem instead of fixing the problem correctly. If it needs to be replaced, they should replace it.

    I am not happy with AHS right now. I have had real problems dealing with the people that I talked to, and them not understanding what I need to be done. I've always thought they gave good service until they started outsourcing their call center. They basically tell me that they can't do anything. I also can never get ahold of anyone in the Memphis office to tell them the problems that I'm having. Also, my fee has gone up to $85 a month and I've been with them a long time. I don't feel like I'm getting what I'm paying for.

    Every time I call, they send out subpar contractors. When I had a problem with a blockage in my sewer line, they sent out someone that wasn't even a plumber that snaked the inside of my house and broke the back out of a brand-new toilet. I have the pieces still to prove that it was broken from the inside out. I did not break the toilet. But the contractor said, “You did that. This is your problem.” When I called and finally got through to someone at American Home Shield, they told me it was my problem. I'd have to take them to court.

    The tech came up and checked the furnace. He said I needed a new thermostat but that has never happened. Whenever I have a claim and it's something that needs to be taken care of right away, I usually call AHS. If it's not quite so urgent, I try the online thing. They'd say that somebody has been assigned via an email and that I should be expecting a call from them. 99% of the time, somebody would call me from the appliance repair place, and most of the time, they're good and they pretty much know what they're doing.

    However, I have ongoing problems with my Bosch dishwasher. The tech said they needed to repair the latch but a few months after they did that, it died again. Then, one of the guys said that they really need to go to Bosch and order the exact latch that goes in the dishwasher. But I don't think any of them are actually doing that. The last guy who came out asked if they've been repairing both sides of the latch, one on the door and one on the dishwasher itself. I said no and that they only worked on the one on the door. He said that the one in the dishwasher also needs to be repaired. So the dishwasher is actually working the way it's supposed to be working, but I'm just very frustrated with them.

    Also, when my garbage disposal went out last year, a company that I hadn't seen before came out and and the guy who was working on it had to be autistic. He kept insisting that I put something down the garbage disposal that wasn't supposed to go down there. But I said that I have put nothing down the garbage disposal. So, he went and told American Home Shield that I had dropped something down the garbage disposal and that was why it was not a covered job. I called them then and told them what happened with the tech. So they took my remarks into consideration and they sent somebody else out. The next guy who came out said that he could not finding anything there and replaced the garbage disposal.

    Other than that, I've been satisfied with AHS because they get the work done and the service is affordable. I recommend them, too. But sometimes the people who come out here and work are not really pro American Home Shield. They said AHS doesn't pay them enough. But if they have to pay them more, our fees will probably go up. I'm a senior citizen now, so I would prefer that the prices stay down. I pay 61 something a month then each time that something is serviced, it’s $75. When my refrigerator was going out, the tech said that it needed a new compressor. So they ordered it and put it in. The tech said that it would normally be a $700 job, but I paid $75. That right there makes AHS worth it.

    Up to Code Plumbing was good and bad. One of the technicians that came out was excellent. He was very thorough. Gave a lot of information. The technician that came out prior to him to look at my water heater didn't do his job. He was supposed to check the water heater. My wife said that he went into the back and didn't have any tools, and yet gave a description of what needed to be done to it. He came back with an estimate of $1,490, which was the max that I could pay. We got a second opinion for it and that's what I'm still working on now because the information that they're giving doesn't match up. Also, your appliance has to be broken, not working, for AHS to really get stuff done. We had our dryer that was making weird screeching noises. They told us to take a video of it and we did that. They couldn't reproduce it and they said, “Because you can't reproduce the sound, so they can't tell you what's wrong with it.”

    My latest claim was pretty embarrassing, but our spa didn't work. I moved here and I don't know how to use the pool. When I called my pool guy, I told him, “Is there a filter that needs to be turned off?” He said, “No, no, no.” So I said, “Well, I guess I need to call my insurance.” He said, “Yes, go ahead.” So I called the contractor over, and they looked at it and said, “You didn't turn it on.” There is a spa button that's really, really obvious. But there's another button behind a closed door that you have to turn on to instigate it. The tech gave us a tutorial on how to actually use the spa. Before that, we had a leaky pipe in the plumbing. The tech came and cleaned all that up and glued it in so that it wouldn't leak. It was great.

    American Home Shield has been great. I've had real problems and not real problems, but they always fixed the problem, even if it was just educating me. When I had a problem with my plumbing in the bathroom, the contractor came out and assessed the problem. But I ended up hiring my own contractor to fix the problem. But I've used American Home Shield for the contractor to come out when I had a big problem and they fixed it. I've been really happy with them. I would definitely recommend them and their process. For 80 bucks, you get to have someone come out and assess the problem for you, and after that, they take over and pay whatever residual there is. So, to me, even $80 to educate me on how the whole pool system works was totally worth it.

    Compass Plumbing was amazing. I highly recommend them in Santa Clarita. My water heater broke. It was Wednesday morning last week. I called American Home Shield early in the morning and right away, they put it in for Compass to come out. Some of these companies are sketchy and they're not good to come out, or they say they can't do this. But a plumber came out and looked at everything. He put in the PO right away. American Home Shield approved it shortly and the plumber was out on Frida and did everything beautifully. He got it up to code. What impressed me was his professionalism. He was so kind, going through everything and explaining bit for bit. When he left, it was flawless. You can't find that a lot now.

    There are a lot of mixed reviews with these warranties. They come out and say nothing's wrong. But with American Home Shield, they go with what is written up. If there were problems, American Home Shield was always there get another technician or plumber if we weren't happy with the first one and didn't solve the situation. Our air conditioning unit broke for the first time last year. American Home Shield got great heating and air people that came out. When we looked at what we had to put out out-of-pocket, we were still saving 3,000 or 4,000 because air conditioning units could be 10,000 now. If anyone was going to ask, I would recommend American Home Shield.

    The microwave went out. I filed the claim by phone, and American Home Shield sent someone out and couldn't do the repair. I had to pay money upfront for service and then get reimbursed for a new microwave, and it was about four months later that I got reimbursed. It was hard to understand the contractor. They weren't from this country. They weren't very knowledgeable. But I stuck with what they said and I got the full amount reimbursed. I called American Home Shield again today to get a renewal process to make sure that everything was okay. But I couldn't understand the person. He was very unclear and didn't understand what I was calling for. But I hope it was resolved.

    I placed a call three weeks ago. AHS sent out Melton Plumber. They fixed one part in the bathtub. They told me, “Don't run the water for at least six hours.” Six hours came and we ran the water. It had a leak. I called back. AHS said that they could put a ticket in for them to come back out. But, the first guy didn't come back. They sent the second guy. The second guy changed another part. Before he could change it, he said, “I need you to open up the ceiling.” I had to get somebody to open the ceiling. I had to pay for that. Then they had to send out another work order for them to come back to do the work after I got the ceiling open. They came and fixed one more part. They told me, “Don't do anything for about 24 hours.” I waited for 24 hours and ran some water. It was a waterfall.

    The tech came three days ago. He said, “We're gonna get every part that we can put up here. We're gonna get it done.” He brought another older guy and they looked. Everything up there looked like new. I would run the water. It would run a waterfall, then it would start leaking. That's where I'm at. I can't keep dealing with the same issue. I just need them to come and fix the problem. I have worked with AHS plenty of times and I had no issues. This is the first time I called for a plumbing issue and this is the result I get. But I really like American Home Shield. They couldn't fix the refrigerator ‘cause it was outdated, so I got a new refrigerator. I also got a new microwave. It’s not them. It’s these people that they had contracted with.

    American Home Shield agents are trained in a way to deny coverage. It's a very frustrating experience. I've spent 10 hours on the phone over the time of a few weeks. There is a pool electrical issue, which turns out to be the motherboard of the pool equipment needs to be replaced. That is covered. So they sent a local service provider, and they came. They somehow mentioned the word multimedia sensor, among other things. But they picked on the multimedia sensor, and they said that the multimedia sensor is not supported. But that's an electric board. I was trying to explain and reason with the guy. They told me, “Oh, no. You don't have to worry. You can just request that you pay us again, pay another copay, we'll get somebody else there.” I said, “Fine.” This is clearly not a multimedia sensor so I requested a second technician.

    I had the second technician come out and he said, “Yeah, this is a motherboard. Motherboard needs to be replaced.” But then they said, “I'm going to send the report in for approval.” I checked online and American Home Shield said it was declined again. I went to call them and ask what was going on. They said, “Well, the second technician said it's the same thing. It's a multimedia sensor.” But that can't be true. Because I talked to him and he didn't even say the word "multimedia sensor.” They said, “Well, that's what they said.” But I said, “I was the one who was there. What can I do? It's your word against my word about somebody else's word.” They said, “We can call them.” That took a couple of weeks because they kept playing telephone games. They called the second vendor and told them it was not multimedia sensor, and it was the motherboard for the pool automation system. It controls everything about the pool.

    American Home Shield called the vendor again and told me, “Oh, yeah. I talked to the vendor. They said it's not the multimedia sensor. However, we don't cover home automation systems.” I said, “What do you mean by home automation system?” They said, “Oh, go check the contract.” They showed me the contract which says they do not cover home automation systems. But this is not a home automation system.

    I was trying to explain that the clause is not talking about pool systems at all. But they said, “Well, you see, we don't cover home automation system. And the technician said it’s home automation system.” I told them, “Home automation system’s home automation system.” But they told me, “Oh, I completely understand your concern. However, we have made a decision, and your coverage is excluded so we have to decline the request.” I called about six more times and talked to different supervisors. But they kept saying that it's a home automation system, which they don't cover.

    We used American Home Shield when we had a stove issue and it was pretty timely. The contractor came, fixed it on the spot, and then left. So that was pretty awesome. I didn't have to talk to anybody and I just paid $75. That's exactly the experience I was hoping for. I can't imagine spending 10 hours just to keep trying to reason with someone. To be fair for American Home Shield, it's not always that way. But once you get trapped, you get trapped.

    When we signed up with American Home Shield, we got the highest level of the plan, which comes with a two-per-year HVAC tune-up service. When I requested it, they said, “Oh, we stopped doing that. Yes, it was offered the past, but that is no longer available,” So I told them, “You signed me up. You can stop offering it to the future customers, but I signed up. I still get it, right?” But they still said, “No, we don't do that anymore.” It was not a huge thing. But their interpretation of these things is so arbitrary. Their agents are not US-based, so communication with them has been difficult. There's a language barrier, and the basic rationales are different. Even when talking to supervisors, they're from the same call center. Sometimes, you get routed to different call centers, and it's just a mess. I don’t want to deal with American Home Shield anymore. I didn't renew my contract with them.

    My water heater was leaking. The contractor was nice. He had a new water heater with him when he came. He checked to make sure we really needed a new one, and put it in. But the heat was too high and so we called them back. I like that AHS is easy to navigate but what I don't like is that when the furnace didn't work, they were in no hurry to get here. Nobody came to fix my heat for four days in the middle of winter. It freezes here in Ohio. I have kids in here and the pipes will break. And then what? Whose responsibility is that going to be? When I call and try to talk sense to them, the reps would say, “Well, the contractors have 48 hours.” People could freeze to death. That's not good service. They should have automatic service, especially with issues like that.

    I had a contract for air conditioning alone by an air conditioning company, and I was paying about as much for just the air conditioner. American Home Shield covered the same thing but in the whole house. I like them because they respond very quickly when I have a problem. So far, the service and support have been excellent. Recently, I filed a claim for a stopped up kitchen sink. The company that did the fix sent me a text telling me that they were sending someone over with the individual's name and a photo. When he showed up, he told me what he was here for and went right work. He cleared the drain. When he had it working, he called me. I came in and looked at it, and it was draining.

    The techs came out for my fridge and the service was very timely. They fixed it and told us everything was okay. But it started giving some noise again, it's not cooling like it's supposed to, and the lights that used to change when the temperature changes is not there anymore. So, there's something still wrong with the fridge and so far, AHS has repaired it about two times. We also had a claim for the heater and our experience with that was perfect because they changed it. They didn't do partial replacement like they have been doing with the fridge, trying to change parts and nothing is working. Other than that, I've done a claim online and their website was very proactive. But it was not easy to navigate because of the lack of expected feedback.

    I couldn't understand the guys that American Home Shield sent and they didn't know what they were doing. They took my old stove off and got it dismantled. Then they told me they couldn't put the new one in. They said I would have to get somebody else from AHS to come out and do it, or get my own plumber. They said they didn’t have the right parts and I said there’s a Home Depot Depot about a mile and a half of here. They weren't interested in that. So, they left me with a new cooktop sitting up there. I told the lady at AHS and she said they could settle and let me get my own plumber. So I did and they put the stovetop in in just about an hour.

    I've been with American Home Shield longer than six years and I've always had good service. They have a contractor, Mid-State Appliance Repair, that has always been great. They came out when the refrigerator went bad and replaced it a few years back. Then, they came out and changed the dishwasher. They does great work, but they don't install gas-operated stuff. I don't understand why AHS had to send somebody from way up in Atlanta down here at middle Georgia, at Thomaston. We'd like it if they'd have somebody closer.

    I had a problem with the water heater, my pressure valve, where it releases its pressure off it. AHS sent a young boy down here and he didn't even know which way was tighten and loosen. I told him he was tightening that thing and he was gonna strip the threads. I had to show him how to loosen it. And he did a bad job of the PVC pipe that after he left, I went in there and redid it. But as far as American Home Shield goes, I have no complaints against them. They always take care of the service. It’s just people don't wanna work anymore like they used to. AHS is doing the best they can by getting contractors out. I'd recommend it. I have a friend and he got on American Home Shield before I did and his son's been on it for a while too. So, all three of us have been on it for a while. And I have no plans to leave American Home Shield as long as they're taking care me.

    Sometimes, it takes a week or two before the contractors with American Home Shield can come out. Sometimes, somebody will come out, but they don't have solutions. Then I call them back again and get a different person. They take the order and somebody will come out. When they resolve the issue, I'm fine with them. If I don't get a solution, that's when I have a problem. I got the solution with the toilet that was running. I got the solution with the dryer, but I had that on the second call. I had to pay another $75 to get someone else to come. Whoever American Home Shield sends out, I would prefer that that person be qualified enough and know what to do in order to solve the problem so that I don't have to call back and pay another $75.

    American Home Shield provides a quick fix for things I need to repair. Recently, the dryer wasn't heating. A technician came and fixed it quickly. Oddly enough, it’s had another open case now for the same dryer. Someone called me today, and they didn't want to go a little over a week out so I called American Home Shield. They gave me a new vendor. I haven't got a call from them yet. On the water heater repair, I know it's up to me to read the contract, but I had to pay a good amount out of pocket for that repair. There were some parts not covered. It would have been good hearing it from American Home Shield first versus the hearing it from the technician.

    I’ve had several faucet leaks. One of them was an emergency. So, the contractor that American Home Shield sent got out there very quickly. The others were within two or three days. I had different plumbers come out from different companies. One of them needed to remove something, and they said they couldn't remove it because they were afraid they would break it. So, I didn't get it repaired. Another plumber came out for a similar item, and they were able to fix it. I wasn't happy that we needed a different company. There are several things in the contract that said that it wasn't on the warranty because it wasn't in the contract.

    Some of the things that are in the contract that are not supported doesn't make sense, like I have a refrigerator with a freezer that I'm having problems with. And I have a standalone freezer. So, the standalone freezer is not covered under the contract. But the refrigerator freezer is covered. A built-in microwave is covered. But if you got a standalone microwave, that's not covered. But after two different plumbers from different companies came, everything has been working good.

    I used American Home Shield when I owned my previous home, and the service was fast, efficient and affordable. They are usually quick with assigning me a contractor with a convenient time. And they're efficient with solving the problem. It was just this time I felt the issue wasn't resolved. I recently needed my furnace repaired because the heat wasn't coming on those cold days. And the contractor came out and serviced my furnace unit. I couldn't remember my login so AHS had me put in my address, and it said, "Find your warranty". Once I put in my address, my warranty popped up. And I was able to click on what my issue was. They were boxes of what your issue was.

    The tech was very nice. He worked fast. But I assumed that with him fixing the furnace that that would also fix the AC. I thought it worked both ways. I didn't know I had to do a separate order for the AC because when you turn on your thermostat, when you switch into heat, the heat comes out, when you switch it to cool, the air comes out. I called. I'm still waiting for them. They kept hanging up on me. Calls kept dropping. Finally, it said, “Push 1 if you would like to receive a return call to stay in line.” But that was an hour ago. They are usually easy to contact.

    The main line leaving the house was clogged. I filed a claim in to American Home Shield online. The technician who came listened to us. He had the right equipment with him. He was able to make the fix. He was here maybe 30 minutes. I know that they cover up to 100 feet as long as it's not a collapsed line. He was able to do exactly that. He stayed to diagnose and he made sure that once he was done, it was truly cleared and that we could get water flowing without it raising up again, so that it was a finished job and that there wasn't anything deeper going on. He was knowledgeable enough to say, "Yeah, no, this happens." He was able to tell whether it was a collapsed pipe or not. It wasn't, fortunately.

    The nature of the insurance game is, it's not as easy to get things replaced because they have to go through a process and when you're out something, it can be frustrating to go through the hoops. We had an air conditioning issue that we had them come out and do. We looked in to some issues and we can either pay and get a whole new system or we can limp it along, so worrying about it going out day-to-day in the summer. We just decided to replace it ourselves. The other thing is, when you're doing it for your home, you are looking at what you want. When you're going through a home warranty, you're at the will of what they will provide.

    When we have had them out, AHS has been pretty good about getting people out quickly when we've had plumbing issues. It's just the nature of the product itself. They're a company to make business. You don't make money by replacing everything the way a homeowner would, instead of paying out money and getting the best, getting better dishwashers or stoves rather than the basics. It's not in their interest to make sure that I have the best that I want. It's their business to make sure that they're replacing a 12-year-old unit or a 20-year-old unit. The baseline model today has as many, if not more features. So it's an upgrade, but it's not what I want, and that's explained within their rules, but it's still frustrating.

    The heater wouldn't start. The technician found that there was a part broken. He said he knew the heater. So he replaced it but the heater broke again. He realized that the piece that he replaced was broken again. It was secondary because it wasn't receiving enough power to start. So he had to replace two parts. But now, it's broken again. But overall, the customer service at American Home Shield is excellent. They send a technician immediately. Unfortunately, we have been struggling with this heater issue.

    AHS Claim #: ** Purchased home warranty through American Home Shield when we purchased our home in 2022. Submitted 3 claims for our Rheem water heater - first two issues were resolved with a band-aid of a solution. On our latest claim American Home Shield is denying our warranty claim, asserting that our water heater is not working due to a manufacturing defect. AHS's service tech had been working with Rheem to process the warranty, and it was this tech who made the determination that the issue was a manufacturing defect.

    Upon contacting Rheem ourselves, a Rheem rep sent us an email stating that they could not confirm or deny that it was indeed a manufacturing defect. Further, AHS's contract states that a product can only be deemed to have a manufacturing defect if determined by the Consumer Product Safety Commission, similar regulatory entity, the manufacturer or distributor has issued a warning, recall or determination of defect. AHS's stance is that they are taking the service tech "for his word" that it is a manufacturing defect. I'm not a lawyer, but i don't think that their contracts language leaves room for the tech to make the determination of a manufacturing defect.

    We've been without water for a month while AHS has drug their feet on this claim. The water heater itself is only 3 years old, and now we're basically being told, "sorry, you're going to pay to replace a 3 year old unit". Beware of using their services for home warranty claims.     I always use American Home Shield. They come out every six months to do my heating and air conditioner. And this was the first thing that they've done on an appliance in my household. Everything they normally do, they do a great job. The compressor went out on my refrigerator. It was a little motor thing that went in the back. The tech fixed it and it's working. But with all the money that people pay to have AHS, I pay 80 something a month plus $75 for the contractor to come out each time, I had, in both of my freezers, top to bottom full of food that I lost 300 and probably $60 to pay, why doesn't the insurance company cover that?

    I asked the lady from AHS and she said, "We don't cover that. You need to get with your home insurance." I said, "It wouldn't be under my homeowner's insurance." That's a $500 deductible. Why would I want to pay 500 to get $360 back in groceries? Because I had just filled my freezer up because I was gone for two weeks on vacation, came back and it was gross. Other than that, I enjoyed the gentleman that came out. He was very kind and helpful. I'd tell others that I like AHS.

    The service has been good. American Home Shield has been having someone come out the same day or the next. They're friendly on the phone. Buster's Appliance has come out several times for different things, and we've been happy with all the repair people that have come out, even the one guy that didn't put the dishwasher back the right way. We didn't even realize it until a few days after he left. But everybody was nice. My only thing is, you know, we're not getting anything for the money. Because I could call Buster's and pay them $30 to come out and do a diagnostics myself.

    We're paying 1,500 a year. Contractors have come out, but it has always been minor and nothing gets replaced. Most of our appliances are new. So, I keep telling my husband we need to stop because we're not saving any money and we're paying whether something's broken or not. And he said, "You know, you'll be sorry if something breaks." But I know they would not buy me a new washing machine. Also, AHS increased their fee a bit.

    Our dishwasher stopped working and it had a CL error light on it. I couldn't figure out how to fix it because it said you press and hold down a button, but we didn't have that button on our particular one. Buster Appliance has come out and they weren't able to diagnose it either. The tech mentioned that he would have to Google the CL light and find out what the problem was.

    I mentioned that the last time someone came out, they pulled the dishwasher out and the problem was, we had had sudsy dishes in there and the suds filled up the little thing in the bottom. So, it thought it was flooded. That guy fixed it. It was six months ago. But when he pushed it in, he didn't do it correctly. And now, the dishwasher doesn't stay in place. So when Buster's came out this last time, I mentioned maybe that was the problem and something was loose. So, he opened up the bottom, pulled some stuff out of it, looked at it, and said that there was something in the bottom that didn't need to be in there. It was this foam. And he said, "You don't even need this in here." So, he pulled it out. And he put everything back together and said he would have to let us know once he could find out how to get rid of that or what was causing that CL lock.

    After he left, I pushed it back in and I found that the guy last year, when he put it back in, the front of the dishwasher was on our tile and the back of the dishwasher was in a bit lower. Because he removed all that stuffing out of there, I was able to push it in back. And once it was not on our tile anymore, but it was on the concrete, it was level and it started working.

    Since that first guy came last year, our dishwasher is scooting all around. If I open up to let the dishes dry a bit, the dishwasher tilts. It used to be stable. And we have not fixed it. So, Buster's didn't fix anything. They came out and looked at it, took some things apart, and they would find out the code for me. But in the meantime, I fixed it by pushing it back the way it was supposed to be originally. I called Buster's, and I told him that the error code went off and it's working now. And I told them that it must have been the level because when I pushed it back the rest of the way, it started working.

    I purchased the house last June. I noticed that my water heater and furnace were very old, so I wanted protection for those appliances. But as I've lived in the house, I've noticed other things started going wrong. So, I've been using American Home Shield for the other services as well. It has worked out well for me. And it has been helpful. I like that it’s easy for me to submit a claim. It's a flat fee every time the contractor comes out. And I'm able to bundle multiple appliances if needed per visit, which has been helpful.

    My oven wasn't working and my dishwasher wasn't cleaning. The tech replaced the coil in the oven to make it start working. The top sprayer on the dishwasher was broken. He replaced the top sprayer. And he told me that my water wasn't hot enough to make the soap fully disintegrate. So, the advice was to turn up my water heater a bit to make the water hotter so that it would fully clean my dishes. He was nice, knew what he was doing and helpful. He allowed me to watch and answered any questions I had.

    I have the platinum plan so that's $93 a month. But it doesn't matter what it is. I already have my washer and dryer replaced. They could get very expensive. I was reading the other day, and a bunch of people in my neighborhood were complaining about American Home Shield, and I couldn't believe it. I said I have never had a problem with them. They said AHS is too expensive. They don't come through. I don't understand what American Home Shield they were talking about. The contractors have always been good.

    The contractor came out three weeks ago because the water is leaking from my washing machine. The laundry room is not very big. So, he would have to close the door in order to pull the machine out. I went back and I was looking at it, I asked, "How's it going?" He said, "Okay. It was just a little opening at the bottom of the washing machine." He must have been here half an hour. And in the past when I've had problems, the guy is here several hours. So I said, "What was the problem?" And they're Russian, so they don't understand a bunch of stuff. He pointed to a clamp. So, it just needed a clamp. I asked him if we would have a problem here with water and electricity. I don't know if he understood. It was a big communication problem.

    A few days later, it's still leaking. So, I called A1. The guy came out last week and said he needed to order new parts. He should have known that two weeks ago. Now, I have to wait until those parts come in which he said five to seven days. And I have to schedule them or they would just come out. I can understand, that's out of their control. But I called A1 and I told them, "This guy wasn't here for very long the first time. He should have known he need a part. And he just came, and left a few minutes ago. He was here one minute. I had just walked into the kitchen and he told me he's leaving. I don't wanna get anybody into trouble. I don't want to be disrespectful. I’ve always liked their work." What did she do? She just apologized, and said they would get on it as quickly as they could. So, we have a leaking washing machine. And I don't know when they will come up. Hopefully, this week and possibly next week for sure.

    I've had a situation where AHS sent somebody else out the second time. The guy came out because the dryer was not working. He took the entire thing off. Bolts everywhere. I said this to myself, "How is this guy gonna put this thing back together?" And he told me he had to order parts. What happened later was they sent this guy. He came here and I told him what happened, he said, "You know what? I'm gonna damage this thing out so you can get a new dryer. This is ridiculous." I said, "Look at all this stuff. He's gonna come back and put this whole thing?" It was like a puzzle. But all in all, A1 has been good, and I love American Home Shield.

    Some of the contractors were trying to get over on the situation. So, I got fed up and will not renew this year. I called a plumber and he had to fix my faucet. He ended up putting a new one in. But before he came, he said there was gonna be an additional fee which would cost me $200. AHS sent me the estimate that he sent them. When I looked at it, it said there were some pipe modifications that had to be done and I wasn't aware of any of that. So when he came, I said, “Okay, so what actually does the $200 cover? Because it's saying something about pipe modifications.” And he was like, “Well, they pay for the new faucet, but they don't pay for me to hook it up.” That didn't sound right. I had that done before, and you never had to pay for someone to hook something back up if they were going to replace something. I talked about it too much and he didn't actually charge me. But I made it aware to them saying, “Hey if I had paid the $200, what was I paying for? That’s just extra money going to the technician for nothing.”

    I had to call my refrigerator in and the contractor told me that my door gasket needed to be replaced. I've been with AHS long enough to know that they cover parts but the tech was telling me that it was gonna be an additional $624 to replace the gasket. When I looked at the estimate they sent, the tech had rolled the gasket up like I did physical damage to it. He said that AHS is not paying for it and he was gonna charge me for the part directly. He was also gonna charge me $300-something for labor just to put a gasket on. When you pop it out and pop the other one right back in, it takes not even a minute. So, I called AHS saying, “Well, I'm not gonna pay that.” Also, he took my refrigerator apart and left my freezer fan unplugged. So, the refrigerator was not cooling. I didn't find that out until the next day when everything in my refrigerator was warm. And I had to disregard perishable items in my refrigerator because it was at 60 degrees.

    I asked AHS to send out a contractor to give a second opinion to get it fixed. The tech worked on my refrigerator, replaced the gasket and it was covered by AHS. I didn't have to pay anything different. Nothing is justifiable for no $300 labor for somebody who only takes two seconds to pop in and out. I told the rep, “Are y'all even checking what the contractors send y'all? Or y'all just saying, ‘Hey, it's not covered?" I'm fed up with the experiences I've had and that's not acceptable. But I've never had that experience before with American Home Shield.

    I pay American Home Shield the 100 bucks and they always get me good contractors. I've been happy with the contractors that they get me. There was no hot water going out of my master bathtub, but it went on everywhere else. And at first, we thought it might have been the hot water heater. The contractor came and checked that. That seemed to be okay. They checked the bathtub. There was a valve that controls the hot water and the cold water together. That's for if you have young kids. You make sure they don't get scalded. So, it's like a regulator. We have had a panel there. So, we had to hire somebody to take the panel and fix it. But they came back out and fixed it. So, I'm happy with AHS. I'm concerned about my hot water heater. If it goes out, I hope they would be able to help.

    Somebody has been out a couple of times to repair the heater and they finally located what the problem was. It kept staying on. Í did my claim to American Home Shield via the website. It's user-friendly. I got the contractor's actual information and the time that they were gonna call. They changed out a part on the actual unit itself and they also replaced the thermostat. They had to leave and order the part. When they ordered the part, they kept me updated as to when they ordered the part and what their projected time of getting the part. This particular company has come out several times and they've always provided great service. After being a customer for 5 to 10 years, AHS has been a perfect service for me because it helps out with things that I could do for myself but I don't have time to do it.     I don't believe that Home Shield does everything they promised to deliver. I had to have the drum replaced in my washing machine. I was told that if they can't replace it, or if it needs repair and they can't replace it, then they would give me a new washing machine. However, they didn't tell me that it's gonna take 3 to 4 weeks to replace the drum and that there's an extra fee to install it. There are a lot of hidden fees that I was unaware of and I don't necessarily like that.

    Also, it usually takes three to five days for a tech to come out and they're not coming to fix the issue - they're doing an assessment. Then they have to call Home Shield for an approval for a part, wait for the approval, wait for the part to come in, and then schedule another appointment. We could be out of an appliance for 10 days. I can't do that. That does not meet my needs when it comes to my rental property or my personal property for that matter. There are things like that that I'm not satisfied with and they don't say all of that when they spell out what they do. But other than that, I like their service. It comes in handy. I just don't like some of the nuances.

He tried to file a claim to just buy a new dryer because of how much money AHS had spent on repairing it but after the third time, it was fixed. The guy claimed that they weren't gonna fix it because it's the bearings and the washing machine was still working.     We took control of the house and it was time to put new locks in. The experience with the rekey was fine and the technician who came out was great. But I'm not 100% satisfied with American Home Shield’s determination on the refrigerator. It was sold with the house and should have been covered. But when we submitted the claim and finally got their local vendor out here to take a look at it, they came up with a big laundry list of things that needed to be done. And it's a Samsung, which apparently had a class-action suit against AHS, and they probably would have paid for all the parts just so they don't get more people complaining about them. But it was denied out of hand because it was extreme use. So, my overall interaction with AHS was not the best I've ever had with anybody.

    The AC wasn’t cooling and it was the first time I've ever had a repair where I didn't have to pay extra for. The tech was friendly, relatable and answered the questions. American Home Shield has always been good but it would be great if they covered more Freon type stuff. I've had to spend a lot in the past with air conditioning stuff.     The tech from Ace’s Garage Door ended up not doing anything but he diagnosed the problem and I had to put in a whole new motor. But he was good. I like him. I've had a positive experience with American Home Shield this year and last year, and calling and ordering services online have been more efficient than before. I was ready to quit so many times before, but they turned it around or something happened. I like that it’s only $75 to have the contractor come out and usually, no matter what they do. If it's something over that, AHS will cover the greater portion or whatever their cost would be to replace it.

    The techs have been excellent. I have a favorite for appliances. Busters is always great and I always want him to replace my washing machine or say it needs replacing because it's probably 15 years old. He just fixes it so he comes every couple of years to tweak it. And it's still working. It's an ancient top loader. But it hasn't cost me other than $75 every other year.

    My kids that live in Pasadena tried AHS for a year and a half and they had absolutely the worst experience getting good technicians in that area. I had referred them so I felt bad. I'm beginning to understand that it depends on the area that you live in also. The technicians would just not show up or they would come and not know what they're doing and have to send somebody else that do not speak English. Different areas need work. It's not one blanket across the United States.

    The motor to lift the garage door up and down was old and it wasn't working that well. So, the techs came and checked it out. They said that it needed to be removed and a new one put in there. So, that was what they did. The whole deal was great and I had no problems with them. The garage door works beautifully now. AHS also has a very good way of communicating with people, giving them the right information, and answering everything you ask. So, I was satisfied.     I have a newer dishwasher and the hose on the pump ruptured. I did a claim with American Home Shield and it was so easy. It took two or three minutes to request for service. A tech came and was incredibly knowledgeable with current and newer models of equipment and what faults to look for. He was very friendly too and he did a phenomenal job. The whole process took maybe an hour, total time. The dishwasher was repaired. The service was so good that they even leveled our dishwasher so it works better than when we bought it and had it initially installed. He gave us additional things to look out for with our particular model. On the whole, there is peace of mind knowing that our home is covered and American Home Shield has always come through. This home warranty is absolutely worth the investment and I would never own another home again without it.

    They're professional and they have a quick response. The dishwasher was not working. The microwave was not working too. There was also a knocking sound in the refrigerator. From me trying to run the dishwasher so many times and waiting for the tech to come out, whatever jammed the dishwasher got rinsed through. Because when he got there, the dishwasher was working fine. Then the refrigerator, miraculously, nothing was wrong with it. What the tech did was replace the light bulbs that were in the refrigerator. There was nothing he could do with the microwave. They had to replace it. In lieu of replacing it, they're sending me a check. The guy that came was excellent. I couldn't ask for anything more.

    We bought our house a month ago and we've used AHS half a dozen times. For the most part, the experiences have been well. We had one little hiccup where they told us something was covered and set the appointment and came to find out it wasn't covered. But they made it right. They refunded our $100 deductible. Right now, we got a work order out for our microwave. American Home Shield, for their part, did really well. My issue was with the contracted company that came out to fix it. The window we were given was 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and that was asking a lot from a working family to block out a whole day.

    I like American Home Shield's reliability. I have had a couple of quotes from other places, not through American Home Shield, and they told me it would be an X amount of dollars and a certain thing was wrong, but it was not. The companies American Home Shield goes through come out, fix it and tell me exactly what's wrong. They're not trying to scam me. Foxcroft HVAC came out twice. The first time, one of the motors in my furnace was messed up. They replaced it with no problem. On another issue, I got a quote from another place first which would have cost me $400. I called American Home Shield and a repairman came out. It was a tube that was clogged. He blew it out, told me to change my filter and it was fine. The service is a little pricey for the $125 service fee. But other than that, it's fine.

    Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is a nightmare. You talk to people overseas, and you can barely understand them and they can barely understand you. Right now, I'm waiting for an appliance company to come and install the dishwasher. I've had a dishwasher in a box sitting in my kitchen and it's gonna be almost a month that I haven't had it installed. They had scheduled the wrong people to come. When they delivered my dishwasher, the guys looked at it and said that it was not wired. They sent these people in to wire. When he looked at it, he said, "No, it's wired. I don't know why they say it's not. But your pipes down in the basement are not up to code."

    They sent somebody else who is a plumber. Then, they sent me another plumbing company, which I thought was very confusing. The guy, when he looked at it, said, "Ma'am, I don't know why they said that. Everything is up to code." I am beyond annoyed. I don't know why I still haven't got a call because all I need is somebody to come and install that dishwasher. I have another issue on a leakage in the basement and I'm already having a plumbing to come and work on that because American Home Shield is not gonna cover that. It's ridiculous. When the people that come here, it almost seems that they're trying to find anything in order not to cover it.

    One of our pool parts was broken. We made a claim online and American Home Shield’s website was super easy to use. They sent a text message and an email to give me the name and contact information of the assigned contractor, and when the tech came out, he was excellent. He told me exactly what needed to be fixed and he fixed it. We also had an old pump part on there that we didn't need and he said he could take it off for us if we wanted to or he could leave it there. So, I had him take it off because it wasn't necessary.     The experience with American Home Shield is pretty good. I call and then within 48 hours, they'll call and try to set up something to fix anything. I had my ice maker and washing machine that went out, and then it took a long time for me to even hear from the contractor, and I couldn't get back in touch with them. Home Shield couldn't get in touch with them sometimes. Then, they said the parts should have been in here, and the parts should have been in by now, and this and that but at the same time, I was going to the laundry to pay around $60 to wash clothes because the washing machine was out. Other than that, I had some other people for my hot water tank. They were pretty good with coming back and forth. They would come back a couple of different times and try to figure out what was going on.

    Our dishwasher was not working. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online through the web portal. It was simple. I logged in and then there was a button to submit a claim. I went to that form, I filled it out, and it was pretty easy. I was sent a text message with the name of the company and their phone number. The contractor called to let me know when they'd be coming out. We scheduled the appointment and then they came out and identified that they had to order parts. They said they'd get back to me in about a week or so when the parts come in to schedule the next appointment, then they came out, installed the parts, and that was it.     My washer was making some crazy loud noises, and American Home Shield had it fixed. It's still making a noise. I was contemplating on calling them back because I don't know if some things were stripped or had come undone. The tech was very good about coming out and dealing with it pretty quickly. He was very nice, kind and good. With this experience with the washer, AHS was very professional and on the ball. My biggest frustration with AHS is the people in their in-network provider that they have to use. Our heater was out for days, and the people were just like, "Oh, well, we'll get to it like in two weeks." Then when they came to do the repair, they said, "It's gonna be another $1,000 over whatever your Home Shield covers 'cause you needed some kind of upgrade."

    There were all of these other things to the point where my husband and I were almost like, "Do we even need this warranty?" We're paying this much a month, it would have been probably about the same without having to pay for the warranty and we could have gone with somebody we wanted versus them telling us we had to go with these people. We're held at the mercy of their provider network and that's the problem. Part of having a warranty is hoping that if you need them, they will be there within a reasonable timeframe. It's like, "Okay, I can go with your in network, but if I have to go outside it, can you at least cover like a 50% of the charge or something?" My thought is that they've made contracts with these people probably for a lower cost that's why they use them. Then those people know that you have to use them. So, there's really no incentive for either of them to change their systems. We're kind of at the mercy of that.

    I filed a claim for my stove. Sears has come out here three times but it’s still broken. The online system just takes your money. Every time you file a complaint, it doesn't recognize that it is still an open claim. It just makes you pay. This last time, I called and the young man that helped me was very kind. He took care of everything and got a repairperson out within a couple of days. But I am frustrated because they replaced this one part three times. I got the replacement part that just came in today and they're scheduled to come out on the 22nd. American Home Shield is a good business, but it can be managed better.

    The claim I submitted only time is about my AC. What was going on was a leak outside. The area that is supposed to leak the water from the AC was clogged, and the water went to the other side. I noticed the leak was coming so heavy and I called, the guy came in, unclogged the drain, and everything is perfect now. I'm extremely happy because everything looks so fast. I called Saturday. American Home Shield let me know somebody would contact me. They contacted me Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning they were in my house and fixed my problem. Everything happened very fast. The guy is generally professional and explained to my daughter exactly what was going on, exactly how he found it. And recommended to pay attention next time. We're very satisfied with the job they performed yesterday. The water goes to the right place.

    For repairs, sometimes there's not a schedule, sometimes contractors charge too much. But for two girls like myself and my daughter, we have to have some services like AHS that we could count on anytime we needed it. It's a handyman anytime we need electrical, plumber, AC. Every time we called, AHS is very fast and professional. And the price is amazing. I pay $39 a month, and that is a good deal. Because with the guy that was sent to my house, I only paid 125.

    I like that our appliances and plumbing are covered. The main thing is the vents, the furnace, all that stuff are covered. In case it goes down, we could call AHS. We don't have to try to fish around for anyone. American Home Shield would make sure we have somebody. They would send somebody out. At first, AHS told me they would send out that doggone United Air Temp, and I told them, "Don’t send out United Air Temp ‘cause they’re the worst company probably in the state of Maryland.” And they already messed up our stuff before. So, I told them to give me somebody else.

    The guy fixed the heat. He came in, saw what it was, and he fixed it right away. It was a hot day, and he came out and fixed it before it got cold. So, that was good. There are some things AHS hasn't replaced that they probably should have replaced. But they replaced our dishwasher. I'm gonna call them back and tell them they need to give me a better dishwasher. That dishwasher is a cheap one. I had a dishwasher that steams, drying and everything, and they gave me something that don't even dry.

    My garbage disposal wasn't working. Unfortunately, I paid the $100 for the visit, and all it was was I had to press the reset button. The technician was on time. Air Pro called ahead, and sent a picture of who was coming. I've dealt with Air Pro before, and they're usually pretty good. As far as American Home Shield, I've had the warranty for many years, and they usually respond right away and get my stuff fixed. I had one big claim where I lost my water heater, and they were pretty quick in replacing that. So, I only have good things to say about American Home Shield.

    I got a call from somebody selling American Home Shield and I listened because I used to do that job and I know how hard it is. The kid convinced me that this was gonna be good for me. I told him I wanted to pay for this upfront for the whole year and he gave me a better deal. He said I was covered and that my home warranty was to start its effectivity on February 6th. On February 17th, my hot water heater broke and it went out. I called American Home Shield and they told me they needed to find a contractor and they would let me know. They found one and that took two days. I live in such a small community that the only contractor that agreed to come this far was two hours away. It then took another three days to get the guy out here. He confirmed that the hot water heater broke.

    He called American Home Shield and they asked him, “Do you know she's a very new customer? And are you sure you can't fix the hot water heater?” He said, “No. It's old. It's done its job.” They had to order a part and that took a little while because of where I live. In the end, they got me a new hot water heater and the guy installed it. Everything was good.

    Two weeks after that, my heater went out. I called American Home Shield and made an appointment. They found a contractor and when their tech came out, he did whatever he needed to do. He tested this and that and found out that it was my breaker. He installed a new breaker and now I have heat again. Within a month of having the service, I had to call him twice and got stuff fixed, and it's been fixed.

    I'm very happy with American Home Shield. I am newly single and in a new place where I don't know anybody. I feel very pleased that I get a contractor to tell me this or that so I have peace of mind as well as money saved. It costs $125 to have a guy come out but that's still okay. The contractors are a hit or a miss because the first guy told me that he was told that he was the fifth or sixth person American Home Shield called that would even come out this far. But both of the contractors that they hired to come to my home have been excellent. I love them. Even my little sister who was skeptical said, “Man, you did good.”

    The tub in the master bathroom wasn't draining properly. A-1 Affordable Plumbing came out but the tech couldn't see anything wrong with it. I asked if they don't use snakes or drain plumbing and he said no and that it's an old house and an old tub. He said I have a 30-day window if anything happens and to give him a call. Within a week, we had an issue with the toilet in our guest bathroom where the water would come up to the rim and then drain slowly. A-1 Affordable Plumbing came back out but the guy said there was nothing they could do about it. The owner said it's an old toilet and for 500 bucks, he would get me a new one.

    A couple of days went by, I called Roto-Rooter and the issue of an old toilet was not an issue. The drainage was an issue because the pipe was full of weeds and roots. The contractor tried to upsell me a new toilet and that would haven't solved the issue. It didn't sit right with me so I called American Home Shield. I said I need to be credited for those two service charges. Each one was $100. They sent a vendor out that was incompetent. But the rep said they have to charge me for the service call and the tech did come out. Why should I pay for a service call when their guy did nothing? I was totally frustrated when I called back to express my disappointment with the vendor that they chose and the fact that they refused to refund the $200 that was charged to my account.

    Our experience with American Home Shield was fine until the last problem we had with the oven. We waited for such a long time, and it's still not fixed. Our oven, all of a sudden, started failing. So, we called AHS, and they said they'd send somebody. Apparently, a lot of people have got this failure. They have to replace the control panel inside the oven. They gave us a time and then they called one day before that time the contractor was supposed to come, and he said, "We don't have the part." I said, "Okay, when are you gonna have the part?" They said next week, and the week after the call, they said, "We don't have the part." Then, they never called, and we never heard from them. So, it was dragging on and on.

    I called American Home Shield. They said they'll call them. Nobody came back to me. Eventually, they said the job is closed. We called JennAir who manufactures that thing, and they said they'll fix it for much less than AHS was offering us to encash. We called AHS and said, "That's stupid. We really love our oven, and we want that piece to be replaced, because it's brand-new. It's not that old, it's like three years old. So we don't wanna change it. So why don't you pay less and fix it? JennAir is offering $1,700 to fix it." My wife talked to them. Eventually, they agreed. We have to send the invoice.

    AHS depended on the contractor too much, and the contractor had no vested interest in fixing. Then, when we called AHS, they said, "Okay, call the contractor." I said, "No, my job is not to call the contractor. My job is to call American Home Shield. I got American Home Shield taking care of me. And that's what should happen, we should call you, you arrange and you do the thing, you call and you check and you call JennAir. If you have one contractor who cannot fix it, call somebody else to fix it, because that's my contract with you." This oven is $5,000 worth. I'm not looking for a handout, I'm looking for somebody to fix it.

    Eventually, we solved it, and we told them, "This is our solution. And our solution will save you money." Then they accepted. It shouldn't be that way. They should make the solution, come back to us and say, "We contacted another contractor, JennAir, and they're gonna come and fix it for you." I've been with AHS for years. Other than a few times here and there where they couldn't do certain things, I was fine with it. I've always told my friends, "I recommend American Home Shield. They've been okay with me. We've had problem with our dishwasher, they fixed it." Lots of my friends don't have a good experience with American Home Shield. So, I was thinking maybe I'm lucky I got the best contractors that they assigned for me. In this case with the oven, it didn't turn out to be that way.

    Both front burners on our glass-top stove were out, so we had to use burners in the back, which is not convenient when cooking. We decided to put in a claim and CTI came out. They ordered parts but the parts were not backward compatible with our range. The tech recommended replacing the range. But American Home Shield only wants to give us $600, which is not the value of the range. I paid a lot of money to them and they should be replacing my range.

    Also, I had to call them to find out what was the status of our claim. The rep said they should have called me back a month ago. I'm pleased with CTI but I'm not renewing with American Home Shield. They do a very good job at sales. They get you in and they get you hooked but when it comes to completing a claim or any of that, they do a poor job.

    Do not use this company. The kitchen faucet is an unacceptable replacement and DOES NOT MEET THE STANDARDS SET IN OUR CONTRACT. The contractor hired by AHS replaced our $500 kitchen faucet with a $90 cheap replacement that does not have as many features, a hose that is so short it short that it does not even reach the edge of the sink and it kinks any time it is slightly raised to wash dishes.

    I have reached out to their customer service department about 12 times in the last 2 weeks ever since it was replaced and have keep being told that either I have to wait a week for a call back or that there is nothing that they can do. Most of the time the rep can not even understand what the issue is due to the language barrier. And yes I have reached out to the company that did the work and was told to take it up with AHS. I will say it again do not use this company for your home warranty as they will not be any help with any issues with replacements or contractors.

    I had a little issue with a rep who did not explain the situation properly to me and that's because of language barrier. When they don't understand you or you don't understand them, it creates a big problem. A technician came out to fix my garage door but in the midst, he charged me an extra fee, and my garage door still wasn't fixed. He told me to contact him if I’m still having issue with the door. So, he came out here two other times but my door still wasn't fixed. On the second time, he told me to contact American Home Shield, which is out of my 30 days. I had to get someone completely different and pay a fee and I was explaining that to the guy from AHS. He told me that all I had to do was pay $50, but would receive the $50 back. So, to my understanding, I would be paying zero. I found out it was $100.

    The language barrier is my biggest issue with AHS. I'm a foreigner myself and I keep getting people that really do not speak English or do not understand it very well. I become so frustrated because I'm on borrowed time. Every time I call, it’s either I'm on a break from work. So, to sit here and have to keep repeating myself, I just become so agitated. But other than that, everything is okay. The last person who came out here to fix my garage did the job. It was something that needed to be replaced and he replaced it. We kept telling the first guy who came here the reason why the door keep getting jammed. We have to manually do it because one minute, it would work. One minute, it would stop. He said it just needed to be dusted off. He dusted it off and my door still wasn't fixed, and I kept calling him.

    The toilet was leaking and we didn't know where. We found out that it was not covered because it was from the base of the toilet and we were not prepared for that. We just thought the toilet would be covered, which means everything. I don't know anything about plumbing and it sounds like it was a whole issue. But it was a breakdown. American Home Shield’s website is not user-friendly because you gotta go to one, and then you got to do something else to try to get to certain people, and you just finally just write a note and hope it gets to the right person. I just wrote an email saying that this was the situation.

    AHS has come through on other things. So, this one incident does not define the whole time with them. People should give it a try and see if it fits their needs. Some people don't have an old home or problems or maybe they feel like they can fix it themselves. But it's always good to have experts who can see it and they can call somebody to actually fix it.

    American Home Shield has been fine in terms of responding to requests. We made a number of claims over the past few years and our experience in going on their website, making the appointment, and saying what's needed, has been positive. We had a guy who did the washing machine and he was really good. I liked him a lot. The guy who has come the most often has been sometimes okay, sometimes not so okay. But we've asked the company to not send him out anymore. When he came out for the oven, we asked AHS for another guy and they sent out a guy from A&E Repair. He was very pleasant and workable. In general, the warranty comes in handy when we have a problem and overall, we've been pleased with the service. They have a limited number of people that they can choose to send out but that's the only flaw in the system.

    The policy was purchased when I purchased my home on August 1st. American Home Shield's customer service is in the middle because there are times when I call, like I needed my refrigerator serviced. I put in the service request on December of last year. It didn't get serviced until two weeks ago. I had several calls. It was escalated. And I could never get a manager on the phone. When I did, I was given the runaround. And then there were a couple of times when I would call back, I would be told my issue had been closed because the manager tried to reach me and couldn't. But nobody reached out. So I'm the one that has to constantly make all the calls. Their customer service is terrible.

    They need to address their clients’ needs and not the vendors'. Because they seem to be more so on the side of the vendor. And we go by the recommendation of this company on who the vendor is to use. I'm a new home buyer, so if they tell me They would send this company out, it should be a company that knows their business and would resolve the issue as opposed to creating a bigger issue for the client, and to make the client have to constantly keep calling and getting the runaround to get the issue resolved.

    With my sump pump issue, I had to pay out of pocket $900 for a new part from the company AHS recommended beginning of October. Here we are now in March and the floaty failed. It burned out and it was because of it was improperly installed, because that was another issue that I had and I didn't get the satisfaction on getting resolution. So, I'm hoping that AHS would go ahead and replace the part and not make me have to pay money again and get it resolved. My floors have been ripped up. I have machines in there, trying to dry it now. And I have an 80-year-old mother living in that space. So I'm not happy with how everything has gone.

    Other than that, I had an awesome experience with AHS. The contractor came out because I had water leaking from my toilet that another plumbing company, Best Way Mechanical, supposedly fixed. But they fixed it incorrectly. Pronto Plumbing came out because I had a leak in my bathroom, and the tech was able to diagnose the issue quickly. It was just improper installation done, and he resolved my issue. He was very professional and knowledgeable. When my sewer pump failed on Sunday morning and flooded my basement, when I called AHS, I specifically requested Pronto Plumbing be sent because they diagnosed the problem and resolved my issue.

    I had a problem with my gas heater. We thought it was the thermostat that was bad. But the thermostat was new and there was nothing wrong with it. It was just a loose wire at the heater. We had a problem initially. I was without a heat in the master bedroom side of the house for about five weeks and it was a little chilly at night. American Home Shield sent out one technician who didn't have any idea what he was doing. The same contractor sent out another technician, and he thought he had fixed it. He said it was a bad fuse. He replaced the fuse, and it started working. But after a day, it stopped again.

    I called American Home Shield back, and they sent out another contractor. The repairman knew exactly what he was doing. It was a pleasant and efficient experience. The only issue that I have is when you call, you get somebody on the line and they have to transfer you to the person who takes the information. They're overseas and I can't understand the accents of most of these people. They're older people like myself. It is so impossible to try to understand them. You just hang up and forget about it.

    American Home Shield sent some people out for an electrical claim. They wanted to redo the whole house. I knew it wasn't right. I called American Home Shield and they sent someone else out. They rewired a couple of sockets. There are things American Home Shield can do better. One time, I called them to repair a leak in the house. I had to take the sink and everything out before the contractor would do anything. If you buy a new car and you drive it for a couple of days and the engine blows up, you don't take out the engine and take it in to the mechanic to have them fix it. You take the new car in and they fix it.

    American Home Shield used to be this company that always looked for an opportunity not to pay out on claims. And their service providers were subpar, and it was an issue. This time around, the first one that they referred us to had awful reviews online. I called AHS and said, "You know what? I just really don't want to deal with these people."     We have an electric stove and it's got four burners on the top. The right front burner and the oven were both not working correctly. Once you turned the right front burner on, it went on full and you couldn't turn it down. The oven was the opposite. You could turn it on, put some food in there to bake for 30 minutes. But by the time you got out after 30 minutes, it was still cold because the oven wouldn't stay on. Both the oven switch and the right front burner switch were replaced and now the oven and the right front burner are working good. But a couple of days ago, the left front burner went out. They didn't replace that switch. I don't want to spend another $100 to American Home Shield for another call until it gets to the point where something is unsafe.

    I'm happy with American Home Shield, but they're not perfect. There have been a couple of times in the past where they were a little slow getting things done. The price has also gone up from $50 to $72 a month. But at the same time, I've had a number of things fixed that reimbursed me. I don't feel like I'm losing money.

    I haven't had to use American Home Shield until recently. It gives peace of mind, but I was starting to question it. But if I didn’t have it, I would need it. However, the last few weeks have not been fun. I worked hard to get two leaks completely fixed. When the contractor came, they said that it was only one and they thought what I thought was a second leak was residual from the first one. They fixed the leak but they didn't tighten it enough so it continued to leak where they made the cut and seam.

    The first time the techs came, they were super nice, very quick, efficient, and helpful. The second time they came out, I had an issue, and it was twofold. The lead plumber was old school and set in his ways. So when he looked, he didn't like that I pointed out that indeed I had a second leak even though he thought I didn't. So when he looked at the second leak, he was standoffish. He also was when I said, “This is still leaking where you made the connection. It's leaking. It's been leaking all weekend.” And he asked, “Oh, are you sure?” I said, “I know when my floor is wet, that it’s continuing to leak.” They know what I'm talking about, but I know when water is leaking from the ceiling.

    They went to fix the original leak and tightened it, but when he tightened it, he did it so tight that he crimped the pipe. I'm fearful to have the ceiling put back on because it may leak. I am now caught in the position where I don't want them back out here to try to fix it. But I had to close up my ceiling, so I let AHS know, and they said, “Take pictures so that if you have another issue, you at least have the pictures that you can submit with the claim."

    When the tech looked at the second leak, the valves were in between two studs, because they were in the ceiling but also under the floor. The tech said, “I can't do that. All this has to be cut out. Your wall is gonna have to come out.” My ceiling was already gone, so I said, “Okay. That's fine.” He said, “I don't do that so you have to have someone come in here and do that, and then I can come back.” “All right. How do I coordinate this and how are they gonna cut precisely where the pipes are that you need?”

    He went out to his truck, called AHS, was on the phone with them for a while, came back and said, “I'm old school. I'll use a blow torch and I can't use the blowtorch that close to your studs because it will burn your house down. You're gonna have to cut all this out. Or you can have a second opinion, which I would recommend you do, because maybe there is another plumber out there that can do it. I already talked to AHS. You just have to call. Right here, I wrote that they denied access. They're not gonna cover the access made to make the repair. So you're gonna have to cover that on your own and call them and ask for a second opinion. If you have another company come out and they say the same thing, they can choose to have us come back out. We'll fix it, but you have to open up the wall.” I signed it.

    When I called AHS, right after he left, the rep advised me, “No. He should have denied the work. If he can't perform the work, he should have said he couldn't do it. And that would have triggered a second company automatically being reassigned to you. We don't do second opinions just because, so this is going to have to be escalated, that and the third.” I said, “Fine. Let's escalate it. Because this is what he told me. I'm doing what he told me. I'm following it on good faith that he’s telling me what he just got off the phone with you guys and discussed. And now I'm finding out that that's not true.”

    She said, "Absolutely. We can escalate it. It's gonna take 24-48 hours.” I waited the 48 hours. I called back. I needed to find out if the escalation was accepted and I could have a second opinion done. I ended up having to call three times to find out. It took a week for me from the time the plumber came to the following week of when I could get someone assigned. And each time, I had to re-explain the whole story to someone and found out something different.

    The third time I called, they said, “Okay. That's not actually what was supposed to be done. We're going to actually close that other one out. We're gonna open up a new one. We're gonna waive the fee that you normally have to pay, because you did identify two leaks. And that's the only way we're gonna be able to get you a second plumber out there.” They did and they had someone come out, because I told them, “I don't even trust the Murrays Plumbing and Heating anymore. He told me a bill of goods, as far as I'm concerned.” And come to find out, he damaged the pipe that he was supposed to fix. So, T Mayes came out.

    The first time they came out, they didn't have all the supplies that they would need. So, I had to have a recall done. That was a pain. I understand, as far as the system is concerned, if they came out, they made their visit. But if they didn't complete the work, there's something that should automatically trigger them to come back out again as opposed to the customer having to call back and say, “I understand they came out, but they didn't have all the supplies, so I need them to come back out again” in order to have AHS re-trigger another recall visit. Other than that, T Mayes did the job. They didn't need a blow torch. They put the water back to full pressure. It was a half hour that they waited around to make sure there were no further leaks. I've had them come out before, because this summer, I had a hot water heater issue. They were a fantastic company to work with. A company that AHS should continue doing business with.

    The refrigerator's compressor was faulty. The first visit was not from Ericksen but from a different company. When the technician came in, they found that the refrigerator was sealed equipment so they had to get back to American Home Shield. AHS sent Ericksen Appliance, wherein they came in almost a week after. When they came in, they saw the refrigerator and checked it out, and they said that it seemed like the motor of the refrigerator was not working. They tried to fix it, and the cooling came back but still, the freezer zone was not working properly. The temperature in the freezer zone was still not up to the mark. We put in the second request saying that it is still not fixed. Ericksen came again. They checked the equipment, and then they heard the sound, which was being made by the compressor. So, they mentioned that it probably needed a compressor replacement.

    It has been repaired now. The only concern was, the whole process took almost a month. Ericksen had to visit four times. The first time, they visited to inspect. The second time, they came in with an equipment to repair the fridge, but it was not repaired. So, I reached out to American Home Shield and asked for a revisit. Ericksen came in again after that, and they placed a request to replace the compressor. With the compressor, they came in five days after the request was placed. So, the timeframe was just a little too long.

    I've been living in my house for over 35 years and I've had American Home Shield for 27 years now. It was affordable and I also have it for my daughter's house.     We have had American Home Shield since 2009, dating back to our prior home. There's a monthly charge and there is what is now a $75 payment for a visit. But after that, all repairs and labor are taken care of by AHS. I like that if there's a big issue, I have some predictability in what I'm paying. So, I pay a monthly charge and I pay per incident, but I don't have to worry about a potentially catastrophic several hundred or $1,000 bills.

    Overall, the website experience is good. I would like a bit more flexibility to describe the specific problem that I have so the technicians are prepared when they come out and know what they're dealing with. And if there's an option to select a preferred vendor, that would be nice. Other than that, the website is good and easy to use.

    Most of the contractors that we got through AHS have been very good. They solved the problem. They're reputable and licensed. We've only had two poor experiences, but it was six years ago. We've had good experiences in recent years. The lights inside of the refrigerator went out. So, we called AHS to make sure that they diagnosed what the actual problem was before we just go out and buy more bulbs. They came out three days later, fixed the problem in like 30 minutes, and it's fine. Get AHS, especially if you have an older home.

    We've been experiencing problems with the dryer. So we called American Home Shield about four weeks ago and opened up the ticket. Somebody from Sears came out, looked at it, and said there were no issues. It was heating up when he came. But a couple of weeks later, we experienced the same thing. Since then, we've been checking it on a daily basis and it hasn't been working. We paid the $100 fee when the first guy came out. I was hoping that this time around, I wouldn't have to pay the fee, which was the case since it was within 30 days.

    We put in a service request on Saturday and hoped that it will get picked up some time on Monday. But we heard nothing. So, we left it 24 business hours. But again, we heard nothing. We tried to call the number of the contractor and got automated responses. I wasn't able to get through to a person because nothing leads you to a live person. So that was a little frustrating.

    I ended up calling American Home Shield, which then they told me, “Oh, it's because it's Sears. And they have a different process.” I said, “I wouldn't have known that.” They said, “Yeah. You have to call us first and then we put in the ticket for you.” She put in a ticket on the 13th and then said that I had to wait another 24 to 48 hours, which was again frustrating because I've been without a dryer for a couple of days and I've been waiting. I wouldn't have known that there was a different process because it was Sears.

    I asked the rep if they can reassign it to another company. She said they couldn't. They put it through Sears again. But then within a couple hours yesterday, I got a text saying, “Oh, you have somebody else assigned.” So, they did reassign it to another company who finally got in touch with me today that they're coming out tomorrow. So, it's been a journey. But overall, I would recommend American Home Shield because they've come through in terms of being available and sending folks to resolve our issues.

    Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was simple for the courtesy of the locks being rekeyed. The only thing that was very inconvenient was when it came time to file a claim about some plumbing issues I had and they said they haven't received payment, so they couldn't send anyone out. I didn't know about that until we're about to submit it. And I was, "I don't understand. It's been several weeks. What do you mean you haven't received payment?" "We haven't received payment, so we can't send anyone out."

    That was frustrating because this was all set up through my Realtor when we went to purchase the house. So, he had it set up, and went to closing, securing all the documents, and showed that AHS is listed on the closing documents, that payment would be sent to AHS. There was no indication on when AHS would receive payment. They just said, "Call back. You can schedule appointment later." "Well, how late?" They said like, "Give it a week or two." I ended up getting a plumber and paying out of pocket for that because it had to be fixed.

    It's very difficult talking to them when their English is very poor. I gotta ask them to repeat what they were saying several times because I couldn't understand what they were saying. I get that companies would outsource because it's cheaper. But if AHS would have something like this, it would frustrate the clients and would say, "Screw this," and be done and cancel their policies with AHS. They keep saying the same thing and it does not change their circumstances of what's going on. And If they would hire people that would speak English here in the US, that would be great.

    The first time I used American Home Shield was when my refrigerator went out. It was fast and they got me a new one. I was very happy. But the communication has to be better. I didn't have a refrigerator for a month or two. I was making all the calls asking, "Hey, what's going on?" I was calling the actual person who was fixing it and American Home Shield too. American Home Shield should be more verbal with the emails and text messages. But that has improved a little bit since the first call I made.

    My second claim was when I had water leakage. The tech came out and did something. It was less than an hour, and he said it was fixed. Then I was able to call my insurance company, and they sent out the restoration people that dried out my basement for four days and took all the drywall out. Everything was in alignment. It was moving at a fast pace until the fifth day. The day after they grabbed up the fans, the water was back and it was flooded everywhere. I've already invested money in getting it dried out and for the drywall, but now we were at square one. So that delayed and pushed back my whole expedition of getting everything together.

    I called the T Mayes people because the water happened the next day after they left. I told them to leave a note, and the rep said she put it in the queue that I called about water the next day, but it wasn't consistent. I had to go on vacation and the day I left, the water flooded again, so I had to leave my house flooded and I couldn't do anything about it because my flight left at 6:00 in the morning. I called them again and said, "Hey, this is really the problem. I thought it was just a residual water being left in, but obviously, the problem wasn't fixed." The lady said, "Oh, my gosh. I'm so sorry. We're gonna send out a different plumber, a master plumber, whatever." I told her, "With water in the basement, please always send out your master plumber."

    The master plumber came in a timely manner the next week. He was able to come on a Friday, which was inconvenient for me because I work so I had to reschedule them. I had to redo that two Fridays in a row. So that was upsetting. When he came, he really snaked it out. But I now have plumbers anxiety because I need concrete evidence that it's fixed. I told him, "My contractor was saying something about having a camera, so maybe you need a little more reinforcement." But he said no and did some other stuff. That was two weeks ago and I have not had any water, but I still have the bucket next to the wall just in case.

    Two of the burners on my gas range weren't working correctly. I sent the claim online on a Friday. Then the tech contacted me on Monday and came out on Tuesday around noon. So it was very quick.     Having American Home Shield has been worth every penny. I love that I can just go on the website, request service. It's assigned to a vendor within minutes. And I can see who it went to. We have our favorite HVAC person. So, we've been able to just call them and say, "We just put in an order," and they would pull the contract over to themselves.

    We have a little casita in the back. The shower wouldn't hold the temperature because the faucet handle kept moving down. The tech came out and not only did he fix it, but he explained how somebody had separated a matched set of faucets that are normally used in the two showerhead shower, and they only used one for the single one. It was put in backwards. So, it caused problems. And when somebody fixed it, they used the wrong handle. So, he knew what he was talking about. He had it fixed. He did a great job.

    As a rule, I like American Home Shield. But with the last two claims, I've not been very happy with them. One claim was for a furnace. I called and had the people come out. This was back in December when it was really cold. The people came out and checked the furnace. The furnace did this exploded sound, and when they were lit, it would go "poof". The guy said to me, "Oh, you gotta get this furnace changed." But he got it working.

    The furnace went out again, and I called them back. They came back and the tech got it working again. But it went out again. I called American Home Shield and told them that this furnace had got to go and that the guy told me it needed to be changed. I went ahead and had the furnace replaced because I could not have my tenants in the house with no heat. This went on for about 10 days. When it was all said and done, American Home Shield said, "Well, you didn't get a work order or whatever you needed for us to replace it. So we won't pay you." So I let that go.

    The last situation was for a stove. American Home Shield sent a company out and the first time the tech came out, he said, "Well, I have to order parts." Then the parts came and he came back out and then inserted the parts. The stove worked for one hour. I called him back and he said, "Okay. I'll come back." He came back and got it working again. Then he left, and the stove worked for one hour. I called the company back and they said, "Well, the serviceman have a family emergency, and he's gonna be off for the next seven days."

    I called American Home Shield and told them all this, and the young lady said, "No problem. We'll take care of this." But I never heard any more from them. So I started calling them back and saying, "Well, what's going on with the stove?" They said, "Well, we called the company. And they said when they left the stove was working." This was true but it only worked for an hour.

    My tenant was a little annoyed. So I went ahead and bought another stove. I told American Home Shield, "Look, I gotta go buy another stove." So this guy said, "Okay. We're gonna take care of all this. We're just gonna contact them, do this." But I never heard anything back. Finally, I spoke to a young lady and she said, "Well, there's nothing they can do. They will refund you the $75 you paid, the original $75 for the service call.” They refunded the $75 and then I bought a used stove. But this went on for two months. So I'm not happy with that. But other than those two instances, I've always had good dealings with American Home Shield.

    My experience with them was horrible. Our dryer wasn't working. The techs called up and said, "Let us hear it over the phone". They heard the dryer and said the issue was the motor. They came a week and a half later and put the motor in. But the dryer still wasn't working. It wasn't heating up and they said the issue was something else. They said I had to put in another work order. I asked what they meant because they never came to check to see what was wrong with it. After that, we had to wait for them to come back out. They came back a week later to fix the problem. But we're searching for another company because that was just horrible. AHS should have given us someone else. The company that came didn't do anything. We pay them every month and we shouldn't have to wait and wait. I had to go spend extra money at the laundromat.

    I've had AHS for three years. Everything has been great except for a couple of things recently. I had a claim for my water heater. Sometimes, it works and sometimes, it doesn't. But then, I started waking up with ice cold water in the morning, which prompted the claim. The first contractor, Budget, looked at it and said that it's a 1991 but AHS won't pay for it unless it's dead. Then, I had another contractor tell me AHS won't cover it unless it's dead. The funny thing is when the contractors come out, the water heater would be working that day. If they come out when I call AHS that morning, they could have seen it's full of water, but it's ice cold. That's been frustrating. I've never had a problem with Budget, though. They have come out to my house a couple of times for things.

He was here in an appropriate time and cleaned up after himself.

    I submitted claims for an electrical issue and a plumbing issue. The electrical issue is fixed but the plumbing claim is still in the process. They had to do a diagnostic and the plumbing company had to submit their result. American Home Shield had to approve it and that's the part that took the longest. It's been approved as of last week, but I'm still waiting on their call to get an appointment. But we're understanding of the timeline and American Home Shield has been really good.     It's been really great with AHS. But my last experience has been frustrating. They sent out a contractor to look at two of my appliances. The first contractor looked at my microwave, installed a switch on the door and said, "It's all working." Then he said he had to get a part for the dishwasher. But I never heard anything back from them. Also, the microwave crapped out the day after he left. So, called and tried to get a follow-up from a contractor. They told me something completely different and said that AHS would not cover the parts for either appliance.

    I called AHS and said, "I don't know what this guy is telling you, but he told me something completely different. Don't ever send those guys out to my house again.” So, they sent out somebody else. The other contractor came out and said, "The dishwasher needs this part and the microwave needs this part.” And so, I've been trying to get them to fix that ever since. And I can't get anybody to call me back or let me know what's going on. I want some communication and for AHS to tell me if they are gonna fix my stuff or not.

    When things break, I put in a service request to American Home Shield and it gets fixed. I had a couple of things this year. I needed to replace a breaker. It was under warranty, so I had to wait for it to come from the company. They came back out. There was no charge to install it once it arrived.     The tech from Whirlpool was very good, professional-looking, and a results-oriented contractor. There was some disconnect on the circuitry board on the door. I got the results I wanted. In the past, I've had some problems with American Home Shield. They'd send somebody out here that was driving a beat up, old pickup truck with a ladder slapped up on top of it, and they're a contractor. When these people pull up, if they haven't got some kind of marking on their vehicle to say who they are and what company they're with, I'm turned off almost immediately.

    Recently, when somebody pulled up, their truck was marked and the young man was very helpful. He seemed generally concerned about my issue. He told me he was gonna take care of it and he'd get it fixed and if anything else happened, I should give him a call and let him know because they wanted to make sure that it was done right. They did a really good job. They were professional in their appearance and in the way they made me feel that they were concerned about the issue as much as I was.

    I've had some inquiries from other companies that have given me better overall pricing, such as lower initial fees and service fees. Some were even willing to cover my septic tank service. I've kind of shied away from all those people simply because I have had good results with American Home Shield. I've got two homes under policy. I've got one in North Carolina that I've had for at least 20 years. I would love for them to begin to look at people in my position who have been with them for a long time who have reached a super senior status and say, "Let's give those guys some discounts on this stuff." That would be helpful.

    So far, the service of AHS has been fairly good. Most claims have been warranted. There had only been one event where a claim was denied but that worked out fairly well. SRL Services came out recently for an appliance repair. It was for my dishwasher that wasn't cleaning anything. They replaced the pump motor and one of the boards. Unfortunately, that did not fix the issue. So, they had to call out another specialist on LG, who diagnosed a different issue and the part's on backorder right now. SRL was very professional, timely, communicated well and friendly. Unfortunately, they couldn't fix the issue, but it was a difficult issue to diagnose. I was pleased overall.

    As long as you don't have to deal with someone at AHS, it's fairly easy if the process works where you file a claim, a company gets assigned, and the work gets performed and the issue is resolved. But if you have to talk to customer support, it's fairly painful. I had an appliance that they didn't want to cover the failure on and it seemed like the answer was no straight out of the gate.

The recent one I had was for a refrigerator repair, and the process was very quick. I did everything online, entered the model number, then they sent out a technician who did a review. I had to have a motor replaced in the refrigerator. The part was ordered, and it was an easy install. The technician was in and out. Having American Home Shield gives me peace of mind.     The two wheels fell off of the dishwasher's bottom tray which holds the big dinner dishes. The tech knew that we needed two wheels, so he went and ordered two wheels. But when he came out to replace them, the third wheel fell off when he pulled the tray out. He fixed that instead of ordering another wheel and used super glue to use the peg that holds it in. He was a nice guy and he knew his stuff. But every time we've had some kind of repair, it’s never been 100%. Not with him per se, but everybody.

    When our ice maker malfunctioned, the techs came out, put a new motor in, and fixed it. But now the arm doesn't go down automatically and when we want ice, we have to reach into the freezer and put the arm down. And when it makes too much ice, we have to reach in and push the arm that lays on the ice back up. Also, when the knobs were leaking in the shower, the techs came out and fixed them. But they took them off and put them back on with a little bit of a sealant. Had I known it was that, I could have done it myself.

    It's like a Mickey Mouse thing where the techs didn't do what I felt needed to be done right. They jury-rig the problem instead of replacing the broken appliance. They're trying to keep their costs down because they're working at a very minimal profit. The only thing I've ever had replaced was the motor that makes the ice and the only time that a tech came out and fixed the issue 100% was when a lady plumber fixed the water that kept running. She went to the hardware store and bought the new plunger thing that she put in there. She said it was only a few cents and she did a good job.

    The contractors also all appear to be new. They don't have utility trucks and come out with a car, except for that lady plumber. She had a truck and it had a name on the side. But the last guy, he had a truck with the name on the side, too. Other than that, the main reason I keep the service is if something big goes out, it has to be replaced. But each year, the price goes up. It was $600 on the first year, then it became $800, and this year it’s $1,300. It’s to the point where I'm going to start just putting that money in the bank and it'll pay for whatever I need.

    American Home Shield sent Quality Service for the dishwasher and the tech said, "Ma’am, I won't be able to put it in because the hookup was wrong." It wasn't in their contract for them to do that through American Home Shield. So, I had to get a plumber to come and do that. It cost me extra, but that’s fine too. Quality Service said, "Call us when they finished.” I called them and they came out. He hooked up everything.

    When I started American Home Shield, the service charge was 50 something dollars. That had been over 10 years, and now it went up to 75, but I don't mind paying the 75 because when my washer was out, they gave me the washer. The only thing I had to do is the service fee. Now, the only thing I don't like is when I had to pay the plumber to do that line. I thought all that is hooked up together. I've always told people about American Home Shield. They always have been good to me. I’m gonna stick with American Home Shield even though they did me wrong about the HVAC system. That's another $20,000 I had to pay.

    I love American Home Shield. I like their professionalism and how patient they are with me and my craziness. They also follow up. We get good service from the people that they send out here.     On March 1, 2023, I completed a request on the AHS website to have our pool heater looked at, since it wasn't heating our spa. We got told we would hear from someone from Watertight Pool & Spa 24 hours later. On March 2, they scheduled our appointment and said March 6 was the earliest they could come out. On March 6, they came out as scheduled. Being a teacher I was not able to leave school, so I left the gate open for them to asses our heater. We did not hear from the company so I had to call the following day to find out what had been diagnosed. Instead of telling me anything they said to check my email, & that they had already submitted it to AHS.

    When I opened the email it said that they needed to replace the manifold and that it would be $4500+, & that it wasn't covered by AHS. However, when I called Watertight Pool & Spa they said that quote was to replace the entire heater due to the chemical /sediment buildup. Communication with the service provider was very limited, they told me I needed to talk to AHS as to why it wasn't covered. I immediately called AHS on Wednesday, March 8, and the customer service rep said they wouldn't cover it due to chemical build-up and said it is not considered daily wear and tear. We've only been here for almost 3 years and used the heater a couple times each year.

    My mother called AHS on March 10 at 9:58 AM to inquire about adding their pool and spa to their AHS plan & specifically asked if chemical build-up would be covered on a pool and spa heater and was told, yes it would be. She has the entire conversation on recording. So my mother and I phoned AHS on March 13 at 1:18 PM and I got the same customer service rep & she reiterated that chemical build-up was not covered. My mother told her that she had the conversation, about chemical build-up was covered by AHS, on recording and the rep's response was that it was not covered. We then asked for a supervisor, and then got put on hold several times only to get told there wasn't a supervisor available and that one would have to call us back in 24 hours.

    So at this point, we still don't have a resolution and still unhappy with American Home Shield. BEWARE if you buy the optional pool coverage, it probably won't be covered & you are throwing good money away. Growing up our family has used American Home Shield for 25 years, and when I bought my first home it was a no-brainer to go with AHS. However, I am now second-guessing them and considering going with a different home warranty.

    I purchased American Home Shield for an older home I purchased. I had a leak in the roof. Called them for a claim, they could not find a roofer in my area so when they said if I could find someone that was a licensed roofer and insured they would approve the repair. I live in a very remote area and could not find a roofer that was willing to come out for an emergency repair. I had a few general contractors but they did not meet AHS standards. I called AHS and they were not willing to work with me or the contractors. I ended up paying out of my own pocket. Then when I wanted to cancel my policy they charged me $75 for an early cancelation. When signing up for AHS they told me they would find a vendor and ensure the repairs were done. It took over a month, with a leaky roof, of back and forth and I still had to pay out of pocket.

    The faucets were leaking and the commodes were running periodically. One commode would run every now and then and refill the tank, but then another got to where it wouldn't refill the tank when you'd flush it and the water wouldn't refill it. Sirius Plumbing came out and serviced the faucets and the commodes. There was one faucet that started dripping a day or so after the service. Then it got to the point that you couldn't shut the water off. So I had to turn the water off underneath. It was also leaking at the base of the faucet. So instead of just running into the sink, it was also running onto the countertop and then the floor. Sirius came out and put a new cartridge in that faucet handle and it seemed to stop the problem.

    The young man that came out did a good job. He was experienced. But maybe they were being a little bit cautious about trying to conserve materials. In the past or pre-COVID, you would've seen them come out and simply rebuild the faucets and that would have been done. But all in all, the gentleman knew what he was doing and quickly was able to take care of the claim. So they did fine.

    I have come across some companies and not all of them are maintaining the standards and meeting my expectations. But part of my problem is that I relocated from one state to another and I don't have the contacts that I've built up over decades of working with contractors and subcontractors. So the people that I'm relying on now through American Home Shield have to find people who are available to provide the services within the time frame that needs to be done and they're working with a variety of different companies. Some companies are going to be a little bit more professional and qualified than others. But all in all, their contractors were fine and I'm pleased with it. American Home Shield has done a good job. My experience has been positive and I hope that it will continue to be that way.

    We found water dripping into our garage from the bathroom above it. So, we called American Home Shield for them to send a plumber. I got a text and an email with their information, the name of the company, and the phone number in case they didn't call us, and telling us they'd be calling us within 24 hours. They did. They were great. The tech found the leak and said that he needs to pause and get restoration involved. So, we’re in all that right now. The great part is when it was all dried out, I called them back and said, “Okay. Now you can fix it,” and they were out the next day.

    I had a stoppage in the sink and I didn't manage to open it. I called American Home Shield right away. The tech claimed that we need to change the whole piping system because it was too old. AHS is gonna investigate and they didn't call me back ever. So, I poured Liquid-Plumr on it and it seemed to do the trick. However, the problem is beginning to come back. So, the guy never solved it. I made a second call for the same sink. I don't know if it's a result of the first visit on that, but there was a leak under it. This plumber who came was very good, and he replaced the pipe under the sink. I don't have a problem with the leakage anymore. However, it does seem to begin to get slowed down. That means the stoppage is someplace still there.

    He ran a snake. I was there. I was watching. At one point, he said, “I can’t do it.” He was looking to change the whole pipe. I said, "Well, how much is it? It's not gonna be covered. So if I wanna fix it, how much is it?" It is gonna be between $5,000 to $6,000. So, I sent him on his merry way. I was not impressed at all. As far as American Home Shield, sometimes they send people to work or just get a foot in the door and look for other things to do. I don't appreciate it and I'm not a plumber. I don't know if they're right or wrong. I'm more interested in unplugging my sink.

    When we bought the house, the coverage came with the home protection plan, which happened to be American Shield, and I just kept it going. One call and they send a repairman. I noticed the last few years, their repairmen are not very good. That's very disappointing. I get the impression they come to see what else they can do. They try to upsell. I had an electrician come because the outlet was malfunctioning. The first thing out of his mouth was, "Oh, you are misusing it." I said, "What am I misusing?" The outlet comes with two plugs. I have a microwave and a toaster oven. They've been there for like six years. Lately, they're starting to act up. I never used the two appliances at one time. "Why don't you take a look and see if something is wrong with the plug?" "Well, if you want me to, I will." Nothing was fixed. I had to move my microwave someplace else, which is not very convenient because my kitchen is not that big.

    I would be very hesitant to recommend AHS. You have to be prepared to argue. You have to be prepared to call. I never bothered with the electrician because I know I can't win. If the electrician tells AHS one thing and I tell them something else, then they're gonna tell me, "Well, we can send you another one and see what he thinks, but you're gonna have to pay for it." They come between 8:00 to 12:00 and then from 1:00 to 5:00. I don't want to spend my hours waiting for a repairman and for him to come and scratch his head and not do anything. It's annoying. Replacing an appliance was done with a struggle. It's more like, "Oh, yes. I'm going to get it because I paid for it. And you are going to see it that way." It's always an argument.

    I don't know how to fix the things that go on that mess up in the house. AHS has always been fair whenever I needed them. They always come through for me. Recently, my ice maker wasn't working.     My upstairs heating unit wasn't working. Every time I turned it on, it would smoke and make a buzzing equipment noise. I sent in my claim online and American Home Shield's website is pretty limited in choices. But it serves its purpose. I've talked with a representative numerous times but the claim is still not resolved. Legum's has only come out once because American Home Shield has not authorized them to do any service yet. So the issue is with American Home Shield. I've spoken to six different customer service reps, and I haven't received any clear or consistent responses as to what my next steps are in order to be able to resume my claim. I received a call from someone in claims adjudication but it wasn't a supervisor or anyone that could provide any clarity as to my next steps.

    Our heat went out and we had to get a kerosene heater until we could get AHS to get someone to fix it up. When the techs saw what the problem was, they offered two things. They could repair it and that was the route American Home Shield wanted to go. They repaired it and our heat has been working fine ever since. AHS is a good policy to have. Once you pay the $100 fee, you don't have to worry about taking care of anything. They're either gonna fix or replace.

    The door hinge of the oven had malfunctioned. The techs had to take the door off. They waited for the hardware to come in and the tech reattached the door. AHS's reps were very helpful. At first they weren't sure if my repair was going to be covered. But it ended up being covered and they were helpful in setting everything up.

    I've already had to use the warranty twice. I had the water heater go out and we got it replaced. And then, I had the oven fixed and it cost me $85 to do the repair. So, I was happy with the warranty. It is well worth it. I'll renew it.

    I had a switch go out on the microwave. The techs were very nice and informative. American Home Shield is okay. But it's a little overpriced for what you pay and then what you pay as far as the techs coming. The tech only costs $16 from what the tech told me and I'm paying $125 with AHS plus the monthly payment. Also, I'm always hoping that they don't come up with something to be out of code. When it came to replacing my furnace, it cost me money. AHS didn't cover that because they had to update this and that. Plus they gave me a much smaller furnace. I'd like to see either the copay or the monthly fee down a little bit. Other than that, I like having the security of AHS.

    I made a claim for the freezer saying that these are my issues but they didn't fix the whole freezer. They had the tech replace coils and stuff to fix the temperature regulation but the tech said there was a part missing and they didn't replace that part. I'm still over-producing ice and it's been way too long for me to go back to them and tell them that this isn't still fully fixed. I'm not happy. Also, I had some issues with my payments and I told them I wasn't able to make a payment and I would get three calls within 10 minutes. They have different numbers that call and it's not always the same phone number. I wouldn't recommend them to friends.

    There was a period of a couple of summers when we were without AC. The same tech continued to try and repair it until he said it was gone. It was a little frustrating because he told us that American Home Shield is only authorizing repairs right now but that the AC was eventually going to go and it did pretty quickly. It should have been replaced earlier. But they have to go through a certain protocol and try and fix every part, which seemed to cost more. Recently, the washing machine wasn't draining properly. Bissett Plumbing came out pretty quickly and although they had to reschedule on me, it wasn't too bad. I've had them come out before so I know the company and they were fine. They fixed the washing machine that day.

    There are certain companies that have a relationship with us. When I call in and American Home Shield sees that I've been a member for so long, I can request certain companies that I've had before and it's nice to have the same company come out for electrical or something like that instead of switching up. Also, with American Home Shield, if you have more than one issue, they only charge you one deductible. That's nice to keep in mind.

    I still am waiting on an open claim with American Home Shield. Tomorrow, the techs are coming to fix it. They had an issue getting the part because the air conditioner was so old. I have had AHS for almost 10 years, and at one time on two different properties and now just one. I don't think I would ever go without having it. On one property, they replaced the air conditioner. They've repaired, over the years, a dishwasher, two different stoves, a refrigerator, a dryer, and this air conditioner. So, there are two air conditioners altogether. It's a big peace of mind, and their service is outstanding.

    I had one issue about five years ago. The heater went out in the home I was living in and the technician said it was because there was too much dust on the coils. I asked American Home Shield to get a second opinion. I paid upfront for the second opinion. Once it was found it was not our fault, that money was refunded back to me and they did the repairs. So, they've done a generally fair process.

    With American Home Shield, I'm able to have access to specific professionals to do specific work fast. All these guys have been great. When I had to get a garage door replaced, they recommended me to the company. That company inspected it and we talked to them and they gave me a nice little price for it. So I got a discount paying for the garage door itself to be installed. I also put in a plumbing claim. The internal piece of the toilet that pulls the plug up and drains the water snapped. I halfway started to fix it and then the first plumber that came out here said there wasn’t anything he could do about it because I fixed it. He said it was not broken so he couldn’t do anything. Then my other toilet did the same thing and broke. This time, I didn’t fix it. They replaced the toilet.

    The only thing I didn't like was that they didn't haul the toilet away for me and the trash didn't pick it up. Now I got to take it to the dump site. But overall, I would recommend American Home Shield. Since I've been a long term customer, I would recommend that they lower the cost instead of raising it for repeat customers. They’re lucky nobody contacted me about a home warranty or else I would have moved to another one.

    I did a claim and the process has been a circus because they would assign someone, and then the company would either not show up on time or they wouldn't call me back quick enough. I was having an emergency in my house. I could only use one bathroom in my house. I was trying to get a plumber out but I couldn't get anyone out. American Home Shield got someone that talked Spanish to come out but couldn't communicate with us. He told them the wrong things, so they denied my claim. I told American Home Shield that I wanted a second opinion, but then make sure they present someone that could talk English. They did that and we ended up getting the issue fixed. So that was good, but it was a hassle. We went without water for two weeks while we were calling back and forth and trying to get them to send someone out to us.

    I had to put another claim in for my roof. I called the vendor that American Home Shield assigned me and they said he would not come out to me because he didn't like all the red tape that American Home Shield had. He said, "I'm not going to jump through hoops to provide a service." I called back American Home Shield and they said, "Well, we can't take your word that that's what he told you. We need to hear it from him." I said, "Well, call him because I just got off the phone with them." It took them two days to confirm that he did not want to do work with them and they finally reassigned me to someone else. Another company called me, but they couldn't see me for a week. I'm still waiting to hear back from them so they can schedule an appointment to come and look at my roof that's leaking.

    American Home Shield should vet the people they're sending to our houses before they send them out. It seemed like they were just looking people up in my area and trying to send them to me without vetting what kind of business they were. I had a couple of companies that came out and were ready to work but American Home Shield wouldn't let me pick a person. It had to be their person. It seemed like they were just calling people out of the phonebook. But if they're going to do that, then why couldn't they just use a person that was right there ready to do the work at my house? That was the frustrating part.

    Someone told me getting a home warranty would take a lot of the stress out of my life and get to have stuff fixed if anything went wrong. But I found that it has been the opposite. While I'm grateful that American Home Shield did finally get someone out there, it's been really stressful trying to get anything done. So I'm good to do my one year with them and then I'll be done with them. I wouldn't ever recommend anyone to use them again.
