I had several claims on my appliances and they were great. The best thing was I had a double oven that went out and it took them a long time to get the part. They ended up putting a new double oven in because they couldn't get the part to fix it. I had a claim a couple of weeks ago for my refrigerator with the little button on the outside that says cubed and crushed. The button stopped working. I called and they sent someone out to fix it. The tech fixed it. Not only that, he noticed the little light was off. He ordered the light bulb. We hadn't even noticed that. AHS has been excellent. I recommended American Home Shield to all my family members.

My air conditioner stopped cooling and didn't work. I called AHS to submit a claim. The techs came out in 24 hours. There was a bad capacitor and burnt-out wire. They got it fixed. I was satisfied. I've had a bad experience with American Home Shield before. This time, it was fine.

I've been with AHS for six years now. I've had quite a few claims over the years and they pretty much all have been taken care of. When I submit a clam, I go on the computer and I request a service call. They usually assign somebody to me, and those people call, set up an appointment, and it's generally taken care of in one to two appointments. AHS has been well worth it for us, financially. I had a microwave handle break recently. I put in for them to come out. The tech looked at it. The gentleman had to order the part. The part was shipped to the house. The tech came back at their scheduled time and installed it. He was very nice.

The oven quit heating. I went online and submitted a claim online. AHS sent an email with the person that would be taking care of it and the schedule. I contacted the technician 'cause they had a certain day and it was from 8:00 to 5:00. I said, "Can you narrow that down so I can be sure to not be here just all day?" I got the tech's voicemail. He called me back and he said that he would try to get it in later in the day. Everything went fine. They were very professional. The guy who came out to look at it had come down sick. They, at the last minute, had to get ahold of someone else to come out and put the part on when the part came in. So they took care of it. The guy came out and got it done. Everything went well and smoothly.
It's good to have the peace of mind that if something breaks down especially if it's a major appliance that goes out, you don't have to worry what it's gonna cost. You have your deductible and you know your cost. We're satisfied with AHS. I haven't had any problems. We've used them three times now and each time, they took care of it.

In the past, I've not been very pleased with AHS. But as of late, I would recommend them because they've really helped me out. I like that I can easily request service and they have contractors. I don't have to go look for them myself. For my recent claim, coming off of the filter, the pipes were leaking. After that one, I did a call back because then the pipe leading off of that one was leaking. The contractor said I needed to file a new claim. So, I filed a new claim. There were some additional things that weren't covered. The tech said I could either pay him to do it or he told me that I could go to Leslie's and buy parts and do it myself. It wasn't difficult. Their website was good and easy to use. The agents on the phone are also thorough and respectful and they clearly speak and they make sure that I'm happy. So, I appreciate that. There are just some things I wish were covered.

I'm very pleased with the service of AHS. First of all, the price is nice. I recently had to utilize them and the process was very easy. The person they sent to my home, I was really pleased with. My toilet upstairs broke on the inside. I needed to have somebody come fix it. On the day of the appointment, the techs resolved everything. All I had to pay was my service fee that is part of it, and then everything else was covered.
AHS has two benefits. First of all, I like the security of knowing, if something goes wrong, I can call somebody for assistance. Two, for myself sometimes, when something breaks in the house, it's not really my field of expertise. So, I struggle with, "Who do you call?" I go online, I go to my account with them, I indicate what's wrong, and they handle everything. I like the ease of that. It's not my decision. I don't have to try and figure out who to call and hope that the party that I'm calling is reputable. I was glad my friend mentioned AHS and now I'm really glad I signed up. I should have done it years ago.

They recently repaired my air conditioner. However, it stopped working a couple of days after the repair. It took three days for them to come back. Everything's up and running again. I've had American Home Shield for a while and this particular company was really good. Very professional. It was quick. It didn't take the tech long. I was amazed that he wasn't afraid to go up under the house with snakes.
One particular company for the air conditioner, I didn't like them. The company was out of Charleston. Customer service wasn't very good and they would tell me one thing of the problem and then American Home Shield another. So, I didn't use them one time. I just hired someone else because I gotta have air conditioning. Then, this last time, I decided to try them again but it was so much better with a new company. The biggest benefit with AHS is that I could just schedule. I don't have to look for someone myself, and then it's not as affordable.

My neighbor's hot water heater started going. We all had our houses built at the same time. They were telling me nightmare stories where it was costing $7,000 to replace the hot water heater. I said that's insane. Before my stuff starts going out, I might as well get AHS. So I got AHS and I'm glad I did because a year later, the hot water heater went out.
I had great service from the gentleman from Aurora Appliance Repair who came out for my oven recently. He was fantastic. He did an awesome job. He diagnosed the problem in an hour and a half. He had to order parts to replace one of the gas outlets. Then the same guy came back once they got the part in. Everything works now. However, AHS is a little pricey a month. It used to be $30 a month. Now, it's 45. But when something goes wrong, it's better than replacing an appliance. I had claims for the hot water heater, stove and garbage disposal and with those three items, it's paid for itself.

So far, AHS helped me. But at this point, my water heater is still in the garage, flooding the garage, and I asked them, "Please, this is an emergency, I need a technician to come out right away, at least to let the water stop." But so far, I haven't gotten any call back from them. It's been two days, but today is the worst. They sent out a company yesterday and the company was trying to rip me off telling me that they have to pull a permit and they want me to come upfront with $750 cash. I called AHS back and I told them what happened. They're looking for another company. But what I wanted them to do is get a company quick to come out and stop the leak, like turn things off until they send a reputable company. I also had a claim for the pool and it was okay, but at the same time, again, the guy wanted 200 cash on the side for the plumbing. These companies try to rip people off. I paid the 200 'cause I wanted the pool to work and not turn green.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

Our AC went out, and then we submitted a claim through AHS's online services. The website was great. It was really easy to submit what I needed. They had the option that I was looking for already as a pre-filled option. I just had to click a few things and submit a payment and it was done. They assigned it to a contractor. I submitted the claim at 10:30 at night when I knew no one was open and I got a call from the contractor the next morning at 7:00 am. They came out and fixed it. However, we have a few inconsistencies in our experience with different claims. But that doesn't have to do with AHS so much. That's more of the different contractors that they partner with and send out. A couple of other times we've submitted a claim, it's been a little bit harder to get someone out.

I've been with AHS for seven years now. I've used them 10 different times. It went excellent every single time. They got somebody out to service it right away. I always got a good diagnosis and a quick fix. Recently, I had a claim for a dryer. It stopped working. It wouldn't engage the motor. They had somebody out in three days. They diagnosed it and ordered the motor. Another tech came out, said that the motor that they sent was no good and that it was gonna need two or three additional pieces in order to fix it. Got ahold of American Home Shield. They said, “That's above our allowable limit. We will replace the unit.” A week and a half later, the new unit arrived and they put it in.

I made a claim, on June 6, 2023, after my AC went out. By the 12th, a technician from their contracted provider (Mays Heat & Air) came out. He diagnosed the problem and sent in the report. I also asked if there was a way to expedite the order because I take care of my 72-year-old mother who had been diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Cancer. He made a note and later I received a text from the company stating the order was being processed. By the 26th, I still hadn't heard anything. So, I contacted Mays again. The representative said they were waiting on approval from AHS.
I contacted AHS and the representative said that they were waiting for the paperwork to be processed. I explained to him the situation and asked if there was a way to expedite it. (I know there are other customers, but if there was a way, it is greatly appreciated.) He said he'd contact someone and see what can be done. Now, it is July 20th and AHS system says I have no claim and the representative is saying they're waiting on the diagnostic order. How is every AHS representative's system showing something different/contradicting? As it's getting hotter and hotter, how long does it take to process an order to replace an AC evaporator coil? Is the work being done based on how many more payments I can make, before processing the order? What else do I need to do?

The American Home Shield reps have been good, and I've been satisfied with the policy. One of the benefits is I don't have to look around for a competent repair company. I recently had an air conditioner problem. I reported it on Tuesday and someone came out on Friday. It didn't surprise me because it was the first really bad hot spell, and I'm sure everybody's AC needed service. I wasn't happy about it, but there was nothing we could do about that. Other than that, the repair people diagnosed the problem and took care of it. They had to get a part from a parts place a few miles away. They knew what they were doing.

I put in a request for my washing machine and American Home Shield had a guy call me the next day. The tech was very good. It took about a week for him to complete the work because he had to get the part. But once he had it, it took about 45 minutes to replace it. The washer wasn’t draining and we drained it and then, he had to drain some more out. Now, it’s not spinning. He had to order a couple more parts but he’ll be back when he gets those. I had AHS do maintenance on the air conditioner and the furnace. They usually respond right away. The tech was friendly and did what he was supposed to do. I recommended AHS to my daughters and they both have it. AHS replaced the washing machine for one of my daughters. Homeowners need to have the warranty because you'll never know when something's gonna break.

The service has been hit-and-miss. There was one occasion where I had a clog in the bathroom toilet, so I had someone come out, and the guy was very dismissive because he didn't wanna figure out where the clean out was. He said he couldn't do anything unless he knew where it was. I said, "Well, can't you go on top of the roof and do it from the roof?" I was told no, and I said fine. I called Roto-Rooter, and they did it from the roof. I had to pay out of pocket for that. I wrote a letter to American Home Shield with my dissatisfaction, but they didn't do anything about it. They were very dismissive, which that was upsetting.
I live in the Central Valley and it's super hot here, and there have been occasions where my AC hasn't been cooling that great. American Home Shield sent people down where it didn't seem like they really spent the time to try to see what the problem was. They would say, "Well, you gotta make sure you're cleaning your filter or you're changing your filter out in a timely manner." I would say, "Well, I have," then I'd have to call them out at another time. That happened recently. Last Fourth of July, I called in because my AC wasn't cooling properly. The guy who came out went on top of the roof, and he was up there maybe 10 minutes, then he said, "Okay, I went ahead and it's kind of frozen up there. All you gotta do is keep it where it is right now and then lower it within the half hour."
Through the Fourth of July week, the holiday, it was not cooling again, so I had to call someone out again. The next guy that came over spent a lot of time up on the roof. He even took my water hose up there and used it to cool it down, and now, it's been doing fine. American Home Shield should make sure that the people who come for the AC are really checking everything out and taking the time to see if they can fix it instead of just saying, "I think we're done." or "You're good" and on the way. Other than that, I've been satisfied with American Home Shield. Although, the prices have gone up substantially. It went up almost 20 bucks. Before it was 62 a month, and now, it's 80 something.

We had a leak in our toilet and it flooded our floor. We have a bathroom on the second floor, and someone came out and looked at it. He was gonna charge us $160 for, in our mind, a low pressure in our plumbing line. It's in the toilet bowl itself, but he wanted to tear the roof out and go through the tub, which had been repaired two and a half years ago. I said, “No way, dude. Why would you wanna do that?" He was also gonna charge us another $600 on top of the $160 he claimed what was wrong with our toilet.
Nine days later, the guy came back after I called and called and finally had to call back American Home Shield. We had to go to the bathroom at the neighbor's house. The guy got cocky with me, so I finally said, “Look, we're not dealing with this anymore. Can we get somebody else to come in?” American Home Shield said, “Okay,” and we got our second opinion. We've had one good tech, which was the last one. At least he was honest, and he said it was not a low pressure. AHS was supposed to let us know something and the tech said they would send me an email, but I have not heard anything.

Claim submission is easy. People just have to make sure they read their contract very carefully. Some things they might think are covered, but American Home Shield only goes up to a point, then there are additional fees. They changed that policy to include some of those things, but there's a trade-off. The benefit of having American Home Shield is when you have a breakdown and there's a major cost, like an air conditioner. I've had that. I've also had to deal with a water heater. One of the things that has happened though is that the cost has gone up significantly. Sometimes I've had to get a second opinion on some of the things that they deny, but I'm still with them. I have to get it resolved.
I recently requested service for my refrigerator wherein the water was not coming out and the ice maker wasn't working. American Home Shield sent Amtec Services and the repair guy was very good. He explained what was going on and how to prevent what happened from occurring again. I've had several different kinds of people come out to do some things, and the guy from Amtec was one of the best I've ever had.

I got a new unit put in and it stopped blowing cold air. The person who was coming out contacted me and it went according to the plan. He thought it was a piece, but he found out that it was the factory overcharging the system. Once he downed the charge in that, everything started to work fine. Everything is performing exceptionally well, and he didn't have to replace anything. He was great. Even the first time that he came out, he informed me on why I was getting such high electric bills in the winter. It was due to my AC unit, and all of that was rectified. American Home Shield is a great service, and I like the repairs that pay the cost.

The customer service rep was good. I just have a problem with paying $125 and getting bad service. I'm not happy at all with American Home Shield. The contractors that they use have 3-star ratings. KN Repair came to fix my dishwasher and they were horrible. I asked in early spring to have the HVAC system cleaned and ready for spring cleaning, because there was a free assessment with the AHS membership, and it was poorly done. I had to pay another HVAC company to come out and do my annual clean out which cost me an $80 fee that I wasn't expecting because the home warranty offered it. So it's been crummy from the start. AHS needs to find better contractors that are gonna come in and do everything that is supposed to be done. My HVAC was part of a 12-point assessment that was supposed to have been done and these guys did not do a full assessment.

American Home Shield has been very good to us, mostly. We like them. Shortly after we moved in, we had to have the air conditioning replaced and another appliance. They did it. Over time, they've bought me a washer and a dryer. I did a claim on the dryer last week. It wasn't heating, but it would run. When I had originally called it in, it was over a week before they could get here. But the repairman was on time. He thought it needed cleaning out, which it did. I paid for that. That was extra. He had to go outside where it vents out into the yard and clean that out. He fixed the broken part of the dryer. He found that there was a wheel and something else inside it. It was broken. He replaced it and it's working fine. I was very happy.

Two weeks ago, it was 100 something degrees, and my air was going out. A contractor had to come and work with that. I put the call in on Friday but they couldn't get out until Monday. They promised some time Monday between 8:00 and 12:00, and a technician was here around 8:30. He came in, looked at the issue, and addressed it.
Every time I've dealt with American Home Shield, they've been on time. The people have been courteous. The technicians appear to be professional and they address the issue. When you call American Home Shield, they take your credit card upfront over the phone so you're not sitting there, having to give money or checks to the technicians. I had to pay two service fees for my air conditioner. One because I said it was the air conditioner, but the repair company found out it was the air ducts. I thought that was all lined up with the air conditioner. I don't go up in the attic, so how I was supposed to know that it was the air ducts? All I knew is that my air was feeling hot. We had to pay $75 for someone to come out there and take pictures, then I got a lady that told me that it's not covered. I didn't like that. She was also reading all this mess that I didn't understand. I didn't have my contract in sight, and she didn't tell me to get it. I told her, I said, "Well, ma'am, is it covered or not covered?" "Oh, it's not covered." "Well, gosh, why didn't you say that from the beginning?”
I like that the home warranty company covers things. They have some people that will come out, do a full inspection and say, "Hey, this is not covered" or "Hey, I'm gonna have American Home Shield to cover this." Some people will word it the correct way where I don't have to pay two service fees. It depends on the company, because they're the ones that get back to American Home Shield with all these. I didn't get anything done. All the guy did was lead me back to the company, and American Home Shield wanted me pay $1,400 for them to seal up the air ducts then $1,500 for them to do something simple.
I don't know how to fight this situation, but I really wish I could get somebody to help me on that. That's a dispute. We pay American Home Shield a lot of money for all these years. I've been with them for 21 years, and I can't get any kind of service on that part, so now we have try to find somebody else to come and look at this 'cause they were too high. Somebody else is coming out today to see if the problem can be fixed, and hopefully for a cheaper price.
This is the second time that we had to pay two service fees for someone to come out just because of the wording. “Oh, you didn't word it right. So therefore you gotta pay another service fee for them to change courses of what they're going to do.” Why would people know about air ducts and air conditioners? The home warranty company needs to, at least, allow some kind of wording to be wrong or a person not to know extremely about what's going on with their device for them to pay for it. All in all, American Home Shield is good when it comes to other things, but at this present moment, I'm upset about this air conditioner ordeal.

We were happy with the technician who came for the air conditioning system that was not operating properly and failing to turn itself off. When he first came out, he couldn't get the system to duplicate the problem. He told me to take a video and pictures of when it happened again. I was able to submit the video and photos to them, and they came out the second time and fixed it. American Home Shield also replaced our kitchen range that went out. It's a little nicer than the old one. It was a long process but back in the day, we had to be patient, and they eventually let us order a new one and got it installed.
We've had a furnace issue where there was a delayed response because in the winter time, those furnace service guys are swamped. We had a discussion about what was truly an emergency and we needed somebody to come out right away. That only happened once or twice, and that was before the online service request system that they have now. Now, things are so much better. They have an outstanding website that's optimized for mobile devices. That's been one of the biggest improvements they've made. I used to be on the phone for 15 sometimes 30 minutes waiting to talk to someone for service. Now, it's a breeze. I log into AHS.com, request service, and next thing I know, a company is calling me to schedule a time to come out. It's wonderful.
American Home Shield is outstanding. I once was very sad and depressed, because every time something broke, I would cringe. But now, I'm at peace and happy. I don't worry about things breaking. When my wife calls and says something's not working, I just go online while I'm wherever I am and request service. I recommended American Home Shield to my cousin, and she considered them but went with a different company that was a few pennies less in premiums. What a disaster that company is. She's always complaining to me about how people show up, they're not the right people, or they're not very confident and they can't fix the issue. Then she has to complain, and they send someone else. What a nightmare. Whereas, every time American Home Shield sends someone out, they're competent, professional, and friendly. They answer all my questions because I badger them a little bit.
The only thing is I've referred three friends to American Home Shield and one has signed up. But their referral system on the website doesn't work very well, so I never got the referral fee. I sent the invitation to my friend, and they used the link in that to sign up for the service. For some reason, it didn't show me as the person referring them. I called American Home Shield but they said there was nothing they could do.

American Home Shield is hell. Their rates keep going up but they don't wanna pay for anything. When our washing machine went out, we went almost five months with no washing machine. They said it was because of covid but this was last summer. They gave us the copay back, like that helped. We waited and eventually, they decided to give us a new one. But they chose and they didn't even match what we had. They came close but they went to a lower brand.
On the issue with our AC, American Home Shield has sent out several people. But it’s been ongoing and they wouldn't repair the AC. They kept doing patch job after patch job. We even had people that came out and made the AC worse than what it was. The gentleman came back and fixed it on his own after American Home Shield wouldn't cover it. He paid us, but he only paid one night of hotel accommodation even though it took him a week to fix what he made wrong and it was in the middle of the summertime.
American Home Shield finally sent the last contractor we had for the AC unit. They wanted to do a side deal with us but we did not wanna do a side deal with them. We told them to fix what American Home Shield told them to fix. When we brought it to American Home Shield’s attention, that was when they refused to cover our AC again. They told us it never happened. I said, “Yes, it happened. After we paid the contractor the $792, they drove right off and didn't fix anything.” After they sent all these different people, they are no longer covering our AC. The reason they did that was ‘cause I went all the way up to the top. I went through the Better Business Bureau. I filed complaints through there.
The customer service at American Home Shield is horrible. They do not return phone calls. It took me several months to get all the way to the top. I was mailing letters, but they don't respond. They use people overseas on their customer service and there is a communication gap. All they do is repeat everything you say which makes you angry when it's 105 degrees and you ain't got any AC. Sometimes they'll put you on a long-term hold, and you're just waiting.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

My experience with Comfort Pros was different than my experience with Liberty Plumbing. Comfort Pros was unprofessional and dishonest. They shouldn't even be in business. They told me that I needed a brand new system and that even if they could replace one part, it wouldn't be worth it because the air conditioner was so old. They gave me a price for a whole new system. They submitted the claim to American Home Shield that they could fix the part which was conveniently not covered under my warranty. I was presented with paying 7,000 for a brand new system. Comfort Pros lied in order to try to get me to buy a new system from them. Because I'm not a gullible consumer, I understood that.
When I tried to explain this to American Home Shield, they didn't care. They said, "Comfort Pros has to fix your air conditioner, and you have to pay this price." I told them that it wasn't even about the price that I was quoted to fix the air conditioner part, it was about the fact that they were dishonest. I said, "I don't care if they would do it for 14 cents. I don't want them coming back to my house.” I ended up doing the cash out option so that Liberty could come back and give me a second opinion. They didn't come out until I had a a long argument with American Home Shield, where they were trying to deny me the ability to have a second opinion. I somehow managed to use my right to do that at the end of the day.
If Liberty was gonna tell me that they would fix it for the exact price as Comfort Pros or more, I still would have chosen Liberty because we've used them before and they're very honest. The person who does the scheduling is so helpful. Liberty came back out and gave us a quote for replacing the part, and they said that there was no reason why the entire system had to be replaced.
We received our check yesterday to then use that towards the money that we paid Liberty. It was not a lot and we still paid a lot out of pocket but at least, it was paid to Liberty. If we went through American Home Shield, they told me that they would not allow Liberty to do the replacement. It would have had to go back to Comfort Pros because that's the protocol. I've never had a problem with American Home Shield before. It's usually the vendor we have problems with. But in this case, American Home Shield was also partly very difficult to work with.
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. Please know that I'd like to look into this further. Send your contact information to the email sent to you and I'll be back in touch with you soon.

I have a claim pending for my dishwasher. The contractor is trying to fix it and figure it out, but it's not been resolved yet. They changed the coil the first time they came. The second time they came, they fixed the sensor. The supervisor came and told me it could be the display but I told him the display works. Now they're ordering the display. If that doesn't work, I don't know what they're going to do because they've changed everything. But so far, American Home Shield is good. I had a bad experience with the previous home warranty. The technicians aren't able to fix things or wouldn't show up. But with American Home Shield, the technicians show up.

I've only had one experience with American Home Shield that I didn't like in 10 years. They have gotten better with their response time when I call. It's easy to put in a request. When I first started, I had to wait on hold for a long time. It has been a great experience. Recently, I had a leaking shower into the downstairs area. The tech was knowledgeable around what was happening, and even made a recommendation that I have someone look at the flooring since it leaked downstairs just to make sure that it had not been wet for a while or covered up and not get to dry out properly to prevent molds. It went beyond just looking at what was happening with the situation he was tasked with. AHS is worth the ease of mind knowing that I could call and I have something in place to be able to help me with some of those unexpected expenses.

I am very unhappy with American Home Shield. And I wanna cancel my contract with them. I had a claim that they do not understand what I'm saying. And they did not provide coverage for my cooktop. It caught on fire. And it's unsafe to use. One of AHS's coverages is normal wear and tear. And they call it insufficient maintenance. Those two are covered. And that's different from an insurance policy. But in a warranty policy, it is covered. And the equipment is old, at least, 18 years old. So it's normal wear and tear. But they said that it was misused and abused and in terms of that's not covered and that's specifically stated in the warranty policy. But it isn't misused and abused. My wife and I keep a very clean house. And we maintain everything.
They stand on that, and they denied the claim for the replacement of the cooktop. I've had two technicians. Now I'm working on my third to try to justify that it's needs replacement. But they think that it should be repaired. It can’t be repaired. In a month or so, it will still be unsafe. So it doesn't make sense to repair it. I don't understand the thinking that AHS does on these things. It's not a lot of money to replace it. If you made a claim through your homeowners insurance policy, they would replace it because they would see it as unsafe.
We have been going on three weeks now. So, we're in a catastrophe mode. I've been in catastrophe before. But I paid for this service. There were other incidences when AHS didn't come through for me. So, it's time to change. I'll find another warranty company that's better and more reasonable from their staff and start all over.
I had Gary's Appliance, and the second was Appliance Tech. They're not experienced and not as knowledgeable. I know because I asked them, they do not replace cooktops. Cooktops are complicated. They have glass surfaces, and they have downdraft systems. They involve spacing requirements and all of that. And they don't have that ability to do that. Usually, when you discuss issues with people, they listen to you, and try to work out a problem. But this did not happen.
I have a third one now called Mega Plumbing. They're a more sophisticated company where they replace cooktops. And it's a complicated process. There are lots of trades involved. Mine is a downdraft, which means it's vented through the cabinet down below, through the floor and out the exterior walls. The first two companies don't do that. They don't replace cooktops.

We had pipes break underneath my house and the people that came out this time were absolutely amazing. I had all these tiny little places that I had asked to stick an entire pipe because all American Home Shield is doing is causing more trouble because they're jury-rigging this to be able to fit instead of replacing them. What they were doing was putting tiny little pieces of PCV pipe married to copper pipe in between. So these kept leaking and the more I had to pay $75 for them to come out to fix. So I am not happy with the work and the way it was done. But the people that came out were really good and I trusted them.
When we do have somebody that comes out that is good and that listens and takes our experience into account, I'd like to keep those people. I don't want somebody to come out here that I don't trust. I want to work with somebody that we're familiar with. But I'm unable to do that. When I had a claim for the pool, American Home Shield sent out Turner Pool. But I don't like them. I don't want them at my house or to take care of my pool. I don't trust them. They're not good people. They're not reputable. But American Home Shield continuously sends them up here. When the technician came out, I pointed out two issues to him. The main issue was a big squeak. Every time the mechanism inside of the dryer starts, it would get loud. Then over the course of weeks, it got louder and louder. Besides that, there was also a hinge issue. It was not set correctly. The technician was really good. He saw what was happening and he really took corrective action. He was able to take care of that noise by applying some lubricant. Overall, American Home Shield was good. We've got our money's worth. If I would have had to deal with these issues myself, it would have been more of my time doing research and getting contractors.
We had a claim for the air conditioner of the home that we sold. They checked out the ACs to make sure that they were ready for sale. So that was good. But I wish that they did a little bit more. It was just average work. But since we signed up for American Home Shield, it helped through the transition of selling our prior home and then buying our current home. It was helpful having somebody through the contract that was trustworthy. In other words, I didn't have to research and find somebody. The company they sent didn't know what they were doing, and I explained to American Home Shield that the repair guy keeps changing parts and I don't think the issue was my AC. Other than that, they've always been good to me, and I've recommended the home warranty. I like the price and how they fix everything. They always fix the problem fast, and when I call, the reps are always nice.

I had a pipe leak. I submitted a claim online with AHS and it was easy. They assigned Plumb Genius to my claim and their contact info was on the website. I had them a previous time that I wasn't so thrilled, but this last time was very good. The tech fixed the pipe and it didn't take very long. AHS gave me a little more peace of mind but it goes up every year in cost and it got to be too cost prohibitive for me, so I cancelled.

American home shield is a scam, they take your money and take months and months to make repairs. Recently I had to request service for our dishwasher and AC a few days apart. I’ve had their service plan for 2 years and this was the first time I had the use it. I put in a request for service and paid the deductible even before I could make a request.
They sent someone 2 days later for the dishwasher and the guy came and said we needed a new water release valve. They said they need to order the part and it will take one and a half weeks to come back with the part, I said ok, if that’s the earliest you can do, I do t have any other option. They come back and the part is mailed to our home. They attempt to change the part and then tell me the part isn’t enough they need to order more parts. So I’m summary it was about 3.5 weeks to get a dishwasher fixed. Now, if I called a normal repair company to do this, it would have been fixed the same day, if not at least within the first 48 hours. No reason it takes over 3 weeks to fix a dishwasher.
Strike 2… AC isn’t working at all, I request service, pay the deductible, contractor comes 2 days later. Tells me the blower needs to be replaced. They will order the part blah blah blah… fast forward 5 weeks later… no part, no answer from contractor or AHS. Like an idiot I give them the benefit of the doubt and call every day for eta on the part or status on the repair. AHS has no updates keeps saying the contractor will handle it. Call the contractor they say they are waiting on part still. 5 weeks for a part, are they for real?
After waiting over the month and in the middle of a heat wave in July, I had to call a hvac company to come take a look, they come diagnose it and replace the part the next day and all is well. So AHS is a fraud. Who can wait for an AC repair in the middle of summer for over 5 weeks? How is it that the company I called later got the AC blower in a few hours and it took AHS contractor 5 weeks for something? I have yet to hear from AHS on this repair. I would never recommend this to anyone. I spoke to a neighbor and she had a similar experience with them for a washing machine repair, 3 months for a repair. If you want to wait 3-4 months for a repair that can be done in less than 48 hours then their plans are for you, otherwise if you want a normal service experience, steer clear of these thieves. The worst experience I’ve ever had. Horrible customer service and people who have no idea what they are doing.

We bumped heads a little bit with AHS, but they straightened up everything and they did a good job. I like them and I'm going to continue to use them. With most of my claims, things went how they were supposed to, but I had one situation with my burner on the top of my stove in my island and it was atrocious. We finally got it squared away and they gave me a new one. Other than that, if you got a home, having AHS is a good idea. I got a big house and little stuff happens. My boss turned me on to it and everybody else that worked with us and, I'm happy he did. With AHS, you got a $100 deductible and they'll fix most stuff. For my cooktop, it would have cost $2,500 without installation, but it ended up costing me 200.

We have a home warranty that includes the repair for our AC unit. We filed a claim on Sunday 7/16 for our AC unit being broken. On Sunday evening, the AC company called and scheduled an appt for Tuesday. The weather in Texas has been 107 with heat index up to 115. On Tuesday, the AC repairman came and didn't have the parts he needed to make the repair. Even though we told them it was the blower motor and blades. When they were done, they stated that it would be 4-5 days before they could come back out to finish the job. My home was 90 degrees inside at that point.
I chatted in to American Home Shield help, and I was told by the agent (whose name I have along with the transcript of the chat) that the service order hadn't been completed by contractor so they didn't know if everything was approved. I asked about accommodations for the 4-5 days we are without AC. (Texas has declared this an extreme heat advisory.) She told me that once we knew if it was approved, they could see what the best way to help me would be. I specifically asked again about accommodations. She repeated her answer.
I worked to get the approval pushed through with the contractor. When I finally get them back on the phone/chat, they then proceeded to tell me that they don't cover accommodations while waiting on parts. Then I asked about another AC contractor coming to fix it. They said that they don't change contractors once assigned. That is untrue because they have reassigned contractors before with our AC problems. I asked to escalate the problem and the person on the phone (Whose name I have) refused to put me through to their supervisor. I asked for over 5 minutes to speak to a supervisor. They refused.
When I got off the phone, I looked for a place to lodge a complaint and there is NOWHERE to do so. I can't find an email or contact us or anything. Your only options are to chat online from your account or to call in. I had done both of those and neither was pleasant or resulted in any help being given. Overall, they were unhelpful, misleading and at time outright lying to save money. STAY AWAY from American Home Shield if at all possible.

I've been with American Home Shield since the 90s. I have mostly homes that have American Home Shield with and I've recommended them to a lot of people. The other house that I have, I have other people that are renting it and everything seems to be okay over there. But in my last call, I had a horrific experience with American Home Shield. They set me up with a company that I've never dealt with. They told me the time frame and that was agreed upon. They also sent me an email of the time frame that was agreed upon. I scheduled my day around American Home Shield. There was a doctor's appointment and various things that I had to change and flip-flop around. I ended up calling this other company that they recommended and I got the runaround for hours. I got recordings and couldn't speak to anybody for at least three hours. Seven hours later, I was still waiting for a service tech and got nowhere.
I finally got ahold of American Home Shield. I ended up speaking to somebody in the Philippines. They told me there were no other service carriers in my area that could do the work. This person was probably lazy to step to the plate and look into it. I didn't feel the people in the Philippines are helpful at all. They are nice on the phone, but I don't think they are able to resolve anything that is very resolvable. It's very frustrating when you're talking to somebody that works with the company but doesn't understand the process. I ended up calling again and was able to get somebody in the States. They said, "Cancel these people and we'll get you with somebody local." Right at that point, I knew there was somebody local.
This was a holiday weekend, so it was tough. When I made the call, it was on a Friday. The person that I spoke to from American Home Shield was exceptionally helpful in setting me up with somebody else. She wasn't able to reach them and neither was I but on Monday morning, the other company had the claim. I spoke to the repairman about 8:00 in the morning to see how quickly I could get somebody to come out and take care of it. They said it was three hours. Three hours later, they were at my door, and they took care of the problem.
Thank you for sharing your feedback Harry. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

Most of my claims with American Home Shield have been awesome. But I did have an issue with a claim a while ago. I kept saying the dryer and refrigerator broke again. I made two claims at one time. The repairman initially fixed one dryer but the refrigerator never got fixed. He said the refrigerator could not be repaired because he thought it was the whole back panel. I had to wait to hear back from American Home Shield. When I did, they said, "Well, we have to send a different technician out." I kept waiting and waiting and they never sent another technician.
I called back and told them I never heard back from anyone. They said they called the technician. I asked what technician they were calling and they said it was the initial technician. I said, "He's not responding to my calls anymore." It was the weirdest thing. He was totally responsive to all the other ones. Every time I communicated with him before, he was awesome. I said to American Home Shield, "If you guys can't fix it or send somebody out, you're gonna have to replace it."
The refrigerator should just be replaced. It was a major issue with the unit. All of a sudden, the girl said I no longer have coverage. She said, "Well, you demanded it be replaced, so they dropped your coverage." First of all, I didn't demand it be replaced. It's a refrigerator in my tenant's house. I said, "If it can't be fixed, you've got to replace...that's your policy, right?" I went nuts and she said they would get back to me within 24 to 48 hours. I never heard back from anyone.
Another thing is you never get the same person. I call back four days later. The rep said they contacted a new service contractor. But I never heard back from anyone. and I kept waiting and waiting. Now we have a refrigerator that's not keeping frozen and it's not keeping cool enough. One day the lady called me and I pretty much had a breakdown with the gal on the phone. She ended up saying, "Hold on." What they would do is they keep telling me, "Well, we're going to contact the contractor." This is what they kept doing with the initial contractor. I'm like, "You can see your emails. You've emailed him, you've called him. He's not responding. Something happened to the guy." The gal said, "Oh, no, you're covered again."
We're still dealing with this. They're having a technician come out, but we have to completely thaw the refrigerator and freezer and have it completely emptied 24 hours prior to having that done. They were supposed to do it today but I thought we were thawing it today for tomorrow. I screwed up. We were supposed to thaw it yesterday and have them come today. I had to change the appointment. That aside, I've always been generally extremely happy with everything. American Home Shield actually replaced a wall unit furnace that we had. That was a couple of thousand dollars. That was extremely awesome.

In general, American Home Shield is good. I have three different contracts with them. I almost canceled them but they have improved a lot. I had to wait for a long time to get an answer but now, they respond very quickly. Also, they are willing to listen. But for my most recent claim for my dishwasher, their response has been very bad. The first vendor couldn't even pull out the dishwasher because the dishwasher is in-between cabinets. He saw a little bit of water underneath. He made a report to American Home Shield and said the dishwasher was not working because of the water damage. This technician is from a company called CPR. American Home Shield wrote me a letter saying the service is denied because it is a water damage.
The next day, I hired a handyman. It only took him five minutes. He pulled the dishwasher out, and there was no water damage at all. I called American Home Shield and they sent a second vendor called Service Pro. They responded quickly. The service person checked it and agreed with me that there was no water damage. He said the control board was not working and that it should be covered. That was almost two weeks ago but I've never heard anything from American Homes Shield or from their vendor. Anytime I call them, they have a voicemail. They never call me back. I called American Home Shield regarding this four times. They said they would call a vendor, but they would never respond.

It has taken me a while to write this because I don’t like giving negative reviews. Months later it is still bothering me, and I feel you have a right to hear this. I originally took out home insurance with AHS because of the perceived peace of mind and protection it gave me. I have been with AHS for over 5 years now, and I have been generally happy with their service through the few claims that I have had. But my last claim has eroded all the trust and confidence I had in them and left me feeling vulnerable. I leave you to judge!
My AC broke down at the beginning of this year. I called AHS and they sent Beaches Air Conditioning & Heating LLC. This contractor said I had a leak in the line set somewhere in the house and, because it was inaccessible, AHS rejected my claim. I paid the company I use to do my AC maintenance to come out and find the leak. They said the leak was outside the house in an easily accessible place. I called AHS again and they sent a different contractor, United Air Temp Air Conditioning and Heating. This contracting company came back 4 times and diagnosed 2 different problems and changed two different parts. The AC still did not work, and finally they also said there was a leak in the line set in the house. AHS rejected my claim for a second time.
By this time, I had been without a working AC for 7 weeks. I lost 23 work hours because of having to be home for service visits. I chose a company to re-pipe and replace my AC unit since it was 15 years old, and it clearly could not be fixed. The company doing the installation isolated, and pressure tested the line set in the house and guess what!!! There was NO LEAK in the original piping installed in the house. The company replaced my AC unit and did not need to replace the line set. It was, and still is, sound. I called AHS and told them that they had not received the correct information and diagnosis from the 2 service contractors they had sent to repair my AC unit. AHS had rejected my claim twice based on this inaccurate information.
AHS would not consider sending someone out to verify that there was no leak in the line set and as such, there was no basis for them rejecting my claim. They would not consider paying toward the replacement and offered only to refund me the original service fee of $100. Co-incidentally, or not, my premium went up by 25%.
Dear Lesley,
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. Please know that I'd like to look into this further. Send your contact information to consumeraffairs@ahs.com and I'll be back in touch with you soon.

I tell all my friends to get American Home Shield, because they've saved my butt several times. Recently, I noticed my refrigerator quit being cold, and the freezer quit, too. I called them at two o'clock in the morning and submitted the claim through their 800 number. I paid the deductible with my credit card they have on file, and they had somebody out the next day.
The first contractor couldn't or wouldn't do anything. American Home Shield had to send out a second contractor. He was with Sears, and he said my refrigerator couldn't be fixed. He suggested that he was gonna put in a new fridge, then American Home Shield emailed me with fridge choices and I picked one. It was easy. They had several models which I could get at no cost, and they also had a few examples of what I can get if I contributed some money. I took the no cost model, which is similar to the one I had, and they're gonna have it delivered. I've been without a fridge for about two weeks now, so I look forward to getting a new fridge. I'm waiting for them to call me and tell me its delivery date.

When my AC goes down, I do a claim online. American Home Shield usually sends me a company that will come or call me the next day. They'll come and fix the unit. That was what I did on the 2nd of July and they sent me whoever they wanted, even though I said, "No, there's another company that you guys have been sending in and they work." I told the guy that the unit was not cooling and he stayed about two hours. He went up in my attic, where I have my heater. But I was talking about my AC. I told him there was a noise and it was not cooling. He claimed that there was nothing wrong with the coolant and that the AC was working fine. I said, "I hear it really loud." He just told me to let him know if I heard it again. That was it. I gave him the heads-up ahead of time before he even went out, but he never even looked. 16 days later, it goes out.
I live in the 118-degree weather and my AC went down last night at 9:00. At that time, there was no one to come and help me so I contacted the company that American Home Shield used last year. A tech came down at 9:45 and he fixed it. He said the capacitor was already damaged but it was still struggling. I ended up having to pay cash in the end as American Home Shield refused to reimburse me the $305 that I paid from my pocket even though I have insurance. They said that I didn't get a service order and they wanted to send whoever they wanted to send. But no one was gonna come at 9:45 at night and I live in a rural area. My kids and I are not going to be sitting at home with no AC.
I have filed claims before. I've been with American Home Shield for 17 years. The worst part is that there's no one in the US and it's hard to understand who I'm talking to. I request someone in the US and they transfer me here and there and I never get anyone. That's the biggest issue. This morning was the one that frustrated me the most. It took me an hour and a half. Customer service just said, "Oh, we can't help you..." It's like, "Then why are you answering?" I asked for a supervisor several times and they refused.
When I called the first time, I said, "Send me to the office that cancels my account. I don't want this account anymore." They sent me to another person who also had a little bit of difficulty with English and she offered to waive my monthly payment for one time and then two times, so that I wouldn't cancel. I said, "Well, no, I want a reimbursement of $305 because I ended up paying for something that was an emergency." I still didn't get that reimbursement.
I never really used American Home Shield's service that much. Aside from the AC, I filed for my ceiling fan and my electricity that were having issues on the outside. With the ceiling fan, it broke down and tech checked it. The tech took about an hour. In the end, it was replaced it with a similar one with no issues. That was good. As for the electricity claim, it wasn't turning on and it was burning out the light bulbs. Apparently, the wire was messed up. The techs fixed it and they put the fixture back. That work was completed in about two hours. They were good too. Another thing with the warranty is I noticed that the monthly payment went up and I never got notified.

My oven went out and American Home Shield assigned Mr. Fixit to work on it. After they came out, the oven was working but the stovetop was not igniting when it was supposed to when you turn the knob. You had to turn it and it let out too much gas, and then all the burners were igniting at the same time. So I needed them to come back. They ordered the part and got it right away, but it took over a week for the tech to come out here. When the tech came and repaired the oven, he wasn't going to check the temperature. So I asked him, "Could you please turn the oven on and check the temperature with your gadget?" He was ready to run out. I have an oven thermometer, but I wanted to make sure he checked it. So he did. He should have checked the burners at that time as well, but didn't. The igniter went out on the oven quite a few months ago and the guy that came out that time checked out everything before he left.
I had to call the American Home Shield office and speak with someone there and explain the situation. That was difficult because they didn't speak good English. I almost asked to talk to someone else, but we were able to work through it and let the rep know that it was an issue with the stovetop and not the oven. She must have gotten ahold of them and I told her I texted Mr. Fixit, and I left two voicemails but there was no call back. So she got ahold of them, and then I got a request for two dates for the next week. Mr. Fixit was coming next Wednesday to look at it. But it was very difficult. I couldn't use my oven at all. So it was not pleasant.
When the tech came on Wednesday, he said, "This is my fault. I didn't check it before I left." I appreciated that he admitted it. When he put the new motherboard in the first time that he came out, it changed all the burners igniting on seven instead of the igniting area. He realized it needed to be fixed and he was very nice. He said it was a matter of adjusting each one so that when you turn it on to high, it's on high and not medium. It's gas so it was dangerous. But it's all safe now. American Home Shield has always had the best contractors. They've been very conscientious and I've even hired them to do additional independent work. So they were good. But American Home Shield keeps raising the co-pay.
We had very good vendors in California. We only had one problem with two plumbers that were brothers. They didn't fix the toilet. They had to come three times because it kept leaking and they kept saying that was just a screw and they would tighten it again but it didn't fix it. So by the third time, my husband hired a local plumber and it ended up where it needed a new toilet because the porcelain was cracked. But we've been real happy with American Home Shield as a whole.

I signed up a contract with AHS in 2022. Requested a service when the dishwasher was not working in April 2022. AHS sent (after 4 days) someone from NATIONAL PLATINUM SERVICE INC. The servicemen did not even speak nor understand English and was not able to fix the problem, let alone even diagnose the issue. I had to call my handyman and he fixed it in 15 mins -- It was just a lose connection - Landed up paying the handyman $150.
I reported this to AHS and asked them to refund the service charge and they declined after several attempts. In May 2023, I requested them to cancel the contract but instead they decided to increase the fee by 15% and continued to charge my credit card without my consent and authorization. On July 16th, called the customer service and requested them to explain why my contract has not been cancelled - They said cancellation department will call me on this matter and cut the line. Think before you sign-up for AHS - Look for other options. Most of the testimony seem to be paid and they seem to have lost the trust and commitment to service the customers.

I've been very happy with American Home Shield. I used to love the ease of making a claim most. But even now it gets a little complicated after that. I wanted the contractor who was my regular one. But it's a random hit whether or not I get the contractor I wanted. I'd have to call back and tell them I want the person who serves my air conditioners who doesn't work for AHS anymore.
Recently, the outside compressor for the heat pump had a part go bad such that was gonna cost me more to get it fixed. So, they replaced it. I paid $5,500 but the Freon is over $1,000. I got it cheaper than how much I would have gotten it otherwise. I like the contractors AHS sends very much. They did a good job. AHS is the easiest way to get home repairs. You can get the techs out here faster than I could going through somebody that I don't even know how to get out here. For anybody who is getting anything more than a simple house, I would highly recommend it.

AHS is amazing, but when it first started, it was a little cheaper and they did a little bit more. Recently, I had my dishwasher repaired and the gentleman did an excellent job. It's running well now but the price of the motor was more than the price of another dishwasher and I had to wait two weeks for that part to come in. But I didn't pay out of pocket though and I just paid the deductible that they required. AHS has always taken care of my home. I enjoy the process and the warranty helps me quite a bit whenever I need it. I've been paying on it for 16 years and in getting somebody out then having to wait a couple of weeks, I'm just not used to that when, before, my turnaround time was a couple of days. Also, So, there are little inconveniences like waiting for the part to come in on the dishwasher where 10, 15 or 5 years ago, it wasn't as stringent a process.

Whoever rep I get at AHS, they're very helpful. They listen to me and they refer me to the right person. I had a claim for my stove. I got an email that they shipped the product two days before the tech came, and then they called me two days before to remind me. They also texted me the day before, and they also texted me the same day, and then the tech called me when he was 10 minutes out. He fixed the burner. He said he was all done and I could let him know if I see something wrong with what he fixed.
I also had a claim because my air conditioning was not working. I called AHS. When they called the company, the company told me to wait until July 12th. I told them I have kids. But they didn't have an opening. I called AHS back. I have a three-month baby. I could not wait for three weeks and a half. It was almost a month. So, they called the people, they said they still didn't have an opening. I called them, I asked how much would it be for an emergency and they said it was 200. So, I paid them from my pocket and then they came the same day that I called them.

My icemaker wasn't making ice so techs came and checked on it. A tech then came back and put in a part but the part didn't work well. He came back today and he noticed something in the back. It was some kind of thermostat that he had to change. The tech was very quiet and went straight to work. He did his thing. When he needed to address something, he came to us. He talked to us and said, “I gotta go down to the park, come back.” After he got through doing it, he explained things to us. He showed us the part and he told us why the unit wasn't working, which was good to know. The fridge is now up and running. We went to the grocery, we came back, and it's still making ice.
We've had American Home Shield since November 2021. We had a couple of things that techs had to check on like the air conditioner, the water heater, and the faucet that just popped out. Their customer service really wants to the correct problem. They really want you to be contented knowing that they're gonna get somebody to work on the issue. They're really quick and they pop an email saying that they contacted this person to repair. If I don't hear by a certain date, I am to call them up.
There was a case where I had two different appliances and I had to pay twice for two different areas. The representative wanted to make sure. Was there anything else they need to look at? She really wanted to help out and that was awesome. We're seniors and we're retired. I cannot have my husband go underneath the sink and fix this and fix that. Having maintenance for these things is a blessing, especially in our age. Sometimes the $75 is like, “Oh!” But after you get to see what they had to labor and what the parts were, it comes out reasonable.

I initially did a claim online with American Home Shield but for some reason, the claim didn't go through. I ended up calling. They gave me a plumber. I called the plumbers to schedule the service because I needed the job done quickly. Because of the holidays, they were gonna take four or five days. I asked American Home Shield to give me a different plumber and got assigned to Pro N Stall. I called them and they were pretty booked but I explained my situation. I had to move out of that house the following day and that I really didn't have time to wait until after the 4th of July holiday. They were able to squeeze me in and get the service done the following day. I gave them all the information they needed so they had all the stuff on hand. The work took less than 20 minutes. Now, I have a brand-new, non-leaking garbage disposal.

We had a power outage one day though I'm not sure that knocked the AC out but it was hot the rest of the time. The tech fixed it and it's cold now. So, everything is fine. Everything's great with American Home Shield but I was surprised with the monthly payments going up. I didn't know until I looked at it one day but it’s fine. Everything is going up right now. So, it’s understandable. I like American Home Shield. It’s bad though when you pay and you still have to wait three days to get somebody out. But it could be with anyone.

We were customers for 16 years! In the beginning they were good! They responded quickly and if we had issues with the service providers they sent out, they got someone else out to my home ASAP. In the last three or so years there was a SHARP decline in quality of workmanship and customer service. On May 30, 2023, I did a request for a refrigerator that was not getting cold enough. They sent out Norrod's Appliance Repair. After they left the next week, my fridge did not get cold at all anymore. They requested he come out again on June 4, and he submitted status complete after coming to look at it and saying he needed to fix the compressor, but never came out to do it. I called them and they said they would contact Norrod's, but Norrod's never responded.
I called AHS every week until June 30, and all they would do was make another attempt to contact the service provider. What made this entire process even more difficult was that their call center had been outsourced, so everyone I talked to had a very thick accent. I requested a new service provider and they said I would have to pay ANOTHER service request fee. They finally said that the "Escalation Dept" would get a hold of me within 24 hours, and they did not call back until July 7 and still refused to give me a new service provider unless I paid another fee.
I finally requested they cancel my contract. It was not until then that they offered me a new service provider, two months free and a refund of the service request fees I already paid. The process the last few times we need service were so difficult I declined and canceled my contract. They then told me I would have to pay an administration fee of $65 upon cancellation. Considering for three weeks I asked to speak to a supervisor and I was repeatedly told "No, that is not the process", I have no idea what an "administration fee" will go towards! You cannot email them, only reach them by phone, which is a long and arduous process. Go a different route!

My A/C stopped working on 7/3/23 and I opened a service claim and paid the $100 fee. A company called on 7/5/23 and said the earliest they could come out would be in 6 days. I called American Home Shield and said we could not wait that long due to medical issues and they agreed to place us with another A/C company. It took them a day to do this and then the company has another day to contact us. The new company never contacted us but told AHS they did and had set an appointment for 7/7/23. They never called us and never showed up for the multiple appointments they told AHS were agreed to by us, but we had never spoken to this company. That was it for me and after multiple phone calls I was able to cancel my warranty.
I’m still waiting for a refund of the $100 service fee since no one came to our house and I cancelled my plan. I will never, I repeat never do business with AHS again. They do business with subpar companies, who in turn provide subpar service. They were fine with leaving my disabled spouse with serious medical problems in triple digit temps for more than a week. I’m also still waiting for my prorated refund of my monthly service fee as well. Air Boss Mechanical, LLC in Tampa, FL is the company they placed us with. Please check out the reviews on this company to see the type of companies AHS deals with. You should stay from American Home Shield at all costs!

The gentleman showed up within a couple of days, which was great. I didn't know how long it took him to do his part so I inquired a couple of days ago as to what the status was. American Home Shield said that they had to get some information from him. But I just talked to him on the phone because there was a message that said for me to reach out to him. He said he had already done his part. It's up to AHS. I've been waiting two weeks on what they are gonna make a decision on. I'm used to doing the phone and doing it online seems like it's more time consuming.
When you put in a request and it takes them two to three weeks to get somebody out to you, it's disappointing especially if you have plumbing issues. I had to shut off water in part of my house because of it. Other than that, everybody's been good. I did a claim my other home. They wasted their money sending somebody out four times but that was okay. I was thankful I had a backup refrigerator. I did exactly what they said. I went and got the refrigerator they told me to get. They were very helpful in that area.

A compressor in our refrigerator went out. I called American Home Shield and they contacted a person to come out. They told me who was gonna come out and that they would call me and set up a time. From there, the rep did a video where I could show her on video what the issue was. The company she reached out to contacted me and set a time. They came out, looked at it and found out it was the compressor. They ordered the part and when the part came in, they called back, scheduled a time, came and fixed it. I would tell a friend that American Home Shield is the way to go. The benefit was great versus me having to try and figure out what was wrong or have to buy another refrigerator.

I contacted American Home Shield, the home warranty company, to schedule a service contractor in my home. AHS scheduled the contractor. The contractor, did not show up for the appointment. I reached out to the contractor several times, and did not reach anyone. I contacted AHS to let them know that the service was not completed, and asked to have this service switched to another contractor, or to refund my service fee. The representative I spoke with, kept putting me on hold, and kept me on the phone for almost an hour. She could not resolve the issue. I asked to speak with her supervisor. She took my information and told me a supervisor would contact me in 3-4 hours.
This did not occur. AHS did however contact me to try to sell me a new home warranty contract. During that call, I again described my issue. Again, they were unable to help me. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told that someone would contact me in 24 business hours. Meanwhile, I lost one day of work due to waiting for the service contractor who did not show up, and almost another full day due to being on the phone with AHS. The issue still has not been resolved, my money still has not been refunded. There seems to be no mechanism in place to help customers when the contractors do not show up and complete the service.

Updated on 07/17/2023: I recently wrote a review about this joke of a warranty company. I’m still here waiting for another contractor to come out. It’s been a month and my refrigerator is still not fixed and the only thing they can tell me is they will send someone out. That was over a week ago. Still no contractor. Below is my review and the pathetic response from this fraudulent company. Company response 7/17/2023 "Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future."
Original Review: Our LG refrigerator stopped cooling. I called AHS and filed a claim and they said someone would contact us within 24-48 business hours. We received a notification that Sears would come out 12 days later. I called AHS back because we can’t go that long without a working refrigerator and they sent Countywide Appliance 2 days later. This was my first experience with AHS and Countywide Appliance.
The night before the tech was scheduled to come to the house, the refrigerator started leaking a lot of water out of the bottom front. After it leaked, it started to cool again. The tech came out the next morning as scheduled and immediately accused us of leaving the door open, causing it to not cool and then leak. This was absolutely not true. Not only is there a door alarm that would prevent us from leaving it open, but when it was not cooling at all (for 3 days) it was warm with the door closed. I had to throw away all my food; everything was warm like it was left out on a shelf. After we told him that was ridiculous and not factual, he then said “well even if something is wrong with it, I can’t diagnose it because it’s working…and besides, these LG refrigerators are pieces of shit. All Korean made. We can’t even access the parts to repair it if we did know what was wrong”.
After that exchange, my husband showed him ice buildup underneath the freezer drawer. He took at out and said it was fixed. I went grocery shopping and filled it back up and 2 weeks later, the same thing happened. Everything had to be discarded again because it was not cooling. I called AHS back and told them I wanted a different contractor to come out and why. They told me they couldn’t do that without making me pay for another service fee. I wasn’t going to do that so I agreed to have them come. I received a call from Countywide appliance 3 days later and they scheduled an appt for 4 days after that.
At the end of the conversation the woman said….”if it starts to work again be sure to call us and cancel so I don’t waste their time or mine because they won’t be able to help me”. Is this for real? I called AHS back and spent 4 hours on the phone trying to get help. Finally I was able to get someone that claimed he would refund my service fee (he lied…he never did) and I was told a different contractor would come out. I have been without a working refrigerator for almost a month and I’m no closer to a resolution. I can’t wait until this is resolved because I am going to cancel my plan and tell any and everyone that will listen to me how awful this company is and how incompetent their contractors are. What they advertise is NOT what you get. I pay 125/mo for this crap service. Meanwhile, I’m feeding my family out of several coolers and a dorm fridge. How can someone go a month without a refrigerator? I’d love to know.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

I have had a contract with American Home Shield now for approximately three years now. By far they are the worst company I have ever had to deal with when it comes to customer service. I have an ongoing problem with my refrigerated AC that AHS has yet to resolve. They continue to send the same three AC vendors, none of whom have been able to resolve the problem. After speaking with numerous customer service reps and with reps from their “escalation department,” no resolution to date.
One of the problems is that AHS has only three AC vendors for the city where I live which has a population of about a million people. I was told by one of the customer service reps that since none of the previous vendors was able to fix the AC, I could have a different vendor of my choice fix the problem, they just had to wait for the diagnostic report from the last vendor (who didn’t fix the problem) and they would then allow me to choose an alternate vendor. They promised they would have the diagnostic report and call me back within 24 hours.
When they called back (and it was not within 24 hours), I was told something entirely different. They want to send the same vendor again (the same one who has been here multiple times and has not been able to fix the AC), and if he diagnoses the same problem, then I have to pay for a second opinion. I asked the rep why they would continue to send the same vendors over and over again when the problem is not being resolved. Their only answer was that those were the only vendors they have on contract. At this point in time I am extremely unhappy with AHS and am contemplating cancelling my contract and pursuing legal action due to the fact they have not honored their contractual obligations. I pay my monthly fees without fail yet they don’t seem to fulfill their end of the bargain.
The other problem with the three plumbing/HVAC vendors in my city is that none of them have any provisions for emergency service calls if needed. I’ve had water heater and plumbing issues in the past and had to pay out of pocket instead of using the AHS vendors because none of them provide emergency services. It has gotten to the point for me that having AHS for my home warranty service is useless and a waste of time and money. Buyer Beware!

I have been with American Home Shield (AHS) for 15 years now. I felt very fortunate for most of this time. In the past 1 1/2 years something has changed and their service has been reduced to something unrecognizable. Three times in the past 2 years, I have had terrible service. I had a small leak in the toilet caused by a wax ring failure. I should have fixed it myself, but I wanted to be sure it was just the ring. AHS' assigned plumber came out and said the flange was too short. He wanted $3000-$5000 to build up the flange and dig out under the house. I hired a licensed plumber for $125 who fixed it. It has not leaked since. Two months ago my A/C stopped working. Temps were in the high 90s. AHS was going to take 2 days to assign a contractor. I paid a professional who fixed it in 1.5 hours after calling them. The parts for the repair cost $62 and labor was less than my deductible with AHS.
Now what made me write this review is my current issue. A hose bib (exterior spigot) started leaking. It was leaking in between the brick and the drywall. I had to shut off all of the water to the house so it did not flood the inside. I filed for service yesterday and the contractor called today stating they cannot come out until Monday (4 days). I would need to have AHS expedite it if I wanted them out any sooner. Needless to say, the phone call did not go well. I was told no one could fix it until tomorrow.
Another 24 hours without water. My birthday is Friday. 10 family members are here for it. We have no water, no toilets, no showers, no washing hands or clothes, and no cooking or washing dishes. I asked to speak with a supervisor or how to file a complaint. I was told there is no way to do so. What? No customer service number. AHS has changed for the worse. My prior reviews were 5 stars. Now I cannot recommend them. Look elsewhere for a home warranty, as I am now doing. 15 years of loyalty means nothing to AHS, and they do not care about your health and safety!

It was pretty horrible being so hot but they did the best they could. AHS is a tremendous benefit and a peace of mind to a first-time homebuyer like my son. You just go online. Years ago, you call and wait along with the other 5 million people. It's a big improvement to be able to go online and get feedback as to who has been assigned. Sears came out for the dishwasher. Then they came out for the ice maker. The only issue with that was the wrong part got sent. But the appliance people have improved. They're dependable. Even Sears, whoever they've got now is 10 times better than the ones they had three years ago. My plumber is good. I'm happy. Last year, it was terrible. We've had two experiences with American Home Shield. The most recent one was excellent. They chose a good service agent. The agent did exactly what he was supposed to come out to do. The fee was reasonable. There was no attempt to add additional layers of cost from their side. But the previous experience was disgusting. Our upstairs air conditioner broke, and we put in the first significant claim that we had ever put in with American Home Shield. They gave us unadulterated runaround. In the end, they wanted us to pay $4,700 extra for in case items. It was not because there was an identified plumbing requirement, but it was because they might possibly be a plumbing requirement. It was the same with the electrician which was for one replacement. It took them months. If I had any option, I'd already be with someone else. But the problem is we still have a broken air conditioner. I can't very well go and change to a new service provider and say we have a broken air conditioner.

We talked to another refrigerator person who said it sounds like we know what we're talking about because if something works and then doesn't work, it's usually some loose connection. We paid $100 but we never got a text. The techs came out twice and one time, they came out and the refrigerator worked, so they just walked away. The tech was really rude to my husband and he wouldn't even leave a receipt saying he was out. That was very upsetting.
We asked AHS, “Why can't you send another company out?". They said they couldn't and they had to send the same people. I said, “That's ridiculous. So, they're working for you, they're not doing the job, and you're gonna keep sending them out? That's stupid.” I don't like to pay $100 for something and then find out that if it doesn't work, AHS is not gonna send a new person who might be more professional and also maybe more knowledgeable.

I had American Home Shield send somebody out to take a look at some electrical issue we were having in our basement. A couple of the outlets weren't working. I explained what was going on. The contractor came out to fix my heat pump for the 20th time. The same company, C&R Plumbing comes out every year because they can't fix it and they just rig it up 'til the next time. When I made the claim, I told AHS not to send them out but they said it was the only company they had. That's a lie because I fussed about it last year, they sent a guy named Bob. I've had nothing but trouble with American Home Shield doing what they're supposed to be doing.
I used to love AHS. I've had them for years and recommended them when I sold my house. I've lived in this house for almost two years and still haven't got my air conditioner fixed because they keep sending the same people out. I got Freon put in my air conditioner last year by another company that they sent. The tech said he put Freon in it. I called him after he left and told him it still wasn't working. He said, “Oh, give it time.” But I haven't heard anything since. I complain to AHS and they don't do a thing about it. They just want your money. I shouldn't have to pay to keep having these people come out. That's over $130 every time I call for the same thing. That's not what their contract says.

I had my electrical work done by American Home Shield and that was fine. I did this claim online. When I was looking for a phone number for them, the one that I found wasn't working and it sent me to a different company. That aside, the electrical issue was fixed in 20 minutes. When I talked with American Home Shield about my ductwork, that was not a good experience. When I asked them to send a different contractor out here for a second opinion, they refused to do it. They took the tech guy's word that came here. I canceled the warranty and I would tell others to find someone else.

We have a house that's 2,750 square feet, and put two air conditioning units in when they built it. One runs the bedrooms, and the other runs the living room, basement, kitchen and my office. The back air condition unit for the bedrooms went out and just blew hot air. So, I called American Home Shield and scheduled an appointment, and looked back through my emails that I had received from AHS and I said, "I wonder if I can still get my tune-up on the AC unit for the second one." And they said I could still do that. I had to pay the other $100 for that.
The contractor was the same one I had out two years ago to work on the first AC unit. And they were professional and did a good job. They were here within a day and a half. This time wasn't very quick getting out here. It was a week out. The techs checked the good one out first and they fixed the other one. It was a capacitor. Both of the units ended up being just a small piece the techs had. The first one didn't have it on his truck, but somebody else met him that day and brought it to him. And the second one had it with him. Both units are working fine now.

The other day when I went to create an account, the rep said that's not true. But I'm still not dissatisfied with AHS. Most of the time, my experience with the techs has been good except for one time when they said they came but they never did. I'm still waiting to get refunded for that, because they never showed up and nobody has contacted me about that either. The rep said she put a claim in but that was not the truth. I tried to get ahold of American Home Shield's customer service rep the other day when I did the report and it said it was an hour wait on the phone. This has been the first time there was a real problem. AHS could get better contractors. Out of the three contractors, two of them seem very good, and the other one has a terrible rating, which is Consolidated Heating & Air, who didn't even bother calling us. I had to get ahold of them after three days. We were not very happy with them and they only had a 3-star rating. My wife got a call yesterday afternoon from Same Day Air who are the ones who said, "We're sending it back because we can't get to it for two weeks." And now, my AHS home page says they are still assigned. But we don't even have anybody who knows they're assigned to do this. Also, AHS needs more customer service people just so you could talk to one. We were paying $35 a month when we first started, and now, it's 70.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

My first year with AHS was awesome but this past year has been horrendous as soon as I renewed. Their deductible has gone up from 75 to 85 without any notification and that wasn't what I agreed to. I agreed to the same terms as the first one. I also couldn't get ahold of anybody ever. I've spent an hour on the phone every time I call and speak to somebody from India n a voice message deal. They read off the screen and they said they could help me, that they'd have to escalate it, but then no one ever called back. I've told them to call me back four times.
Then, when you call, they read back the same conversation you've already had. They also couldn't transfer me and said they were going to write an email. Then, they made me stand on the phone while they were writing their email. There was no listening or understanding. They always say that they reviewed my contract but I don't even have a copy of my own contract, so how do I even know what's in the contract? It's ridiculous. So, it's like I paid them money for a warranty but nothing's ever done, and I feel like I wasted my money.
On my recent claim for my AC, there was supposed to be three options. They were supposed to be able to pay for the repair and I was supposed to go to get a second opinion. Or I was supposed to take the cash value. I called them to take this cash value and they said that they couldn't do anything about it. They said my claim was pending and not even approved yet. So, it's been miserable. I just got off the phone with A-US, the contractor that they sent out, to just come fix the AC, and I'm going to have to pay $2,200 out of pocket to have them fix it. All in all, I would tell other to go with somebody else, not AHS.
Are you still in need of assistance?

Things have been good. I tried somebody else and they weren't as thorough as American Home Shield, so I came back to them. Recently, my air conditioning didn't keep the place cool. The technician was very knowledgeable. The service call was on a Wednesday or Thursday. And AHS said that the technician would get back to me within 24 hours. They did. But what they did is on Friday, they called and just left a message and said, “Your appointment was scheduled for Monday. Somebody would call you on Sunday for a time.” But they didn't even say that. They just said, “Your appointment was on Monday.” So, I called them back and said, “Somebody just scheduled the appointment for Monday. They didn't call me. They didn't do anything. They didn't give me a time.” And they said, “We booked the appointment. And then we'll call you. The technician will call you the day before to set up a time.”
The fortunate thing is I'm retired, so I don't work. But if I had a job, I don't know what kind of person can have a job, and the technician would call and say, “I'm gonna come see you on Monday. I'll give you a time on Sunday.” If I was working, it would give me no time to plan a work schedule to ask for a dayoff or maybe I could get off early. He called me up on Sunday and said, “I'll be there between 7:00 and 11:00.” That wasn't convenient for a consumer that had a job.
I've had some back and forth with them over the years on some of their repairs where they've had to do A, B, C, D, E, F, G, before we got to Z. And sometimes, they spend more money and consumer time trying to nickel-and-dime things before they replace it than to just go ahead and replace it. We had a dishwasher a few years ago that leaked. AHS sent a technician out six times before they redid the dishwasher, which was a pain in the butt. Because every time the technician came out, somebody has to take off of work. Somebody has to be there. And they gotta schedule this. It was that back-and-forth feedback that I had to end up going through. Other than that, there’s a benefit of knowing that I have somebody that would come out and do some repairs.

For the most part, service has been good and AHS was efficient. This last time, though American Home Shield was fine, the communication with their contractor A&E was terrible. There was nobody I could talk to. They ordered parts on a Monday, and the appointment was set for Friday. By Thursday, I hadn't received any parts. was trying to call them and say, "Do you still need to come out?" I didn't wanna lose the appointment because I want the washer fixed. But there's no way to contact the contractor. You either accept the appointment or you cancel it. This went on for days. There were text messages and an email now and then, but not a human being. Eventually, they couldn't fix the washer so AHS gave a $500 credit. It doesn't cover the whole thing, but it's better than nothing.

I called them on a Friday because I was having an air conditioning issue where my house wasn't cooling evenly. They sent a person out to work on it on Monday and he fixed it. He went up in the attic and rerouted the flume. Then, I was having some vibration in the air conditioning system, so he went out to the compressor and tightened some things. He also put some wedge Styrofoam in some areas so it wouldn't vibrate and he tightened some things in the unit in the attic. Since then, the AC has been working great.

He came, looked at it, fixed it. We requested the ducts to be worked on a few months ago. Somebody came. He said there was a misunderstanding about what they cover and don't cover. We explained what we wanted. The guy said, "AHS doesn't cover this. But since I'm here, let me look at what you guys really need." Because we thought we needed to clean the ducts. The guy went up, looked at it and told us, "Your ducts are clean." I've seen situations where that kind of contractor would come by and say, "You have to do this." The guy said, "You don't need to waste money on hiring somebody to come and clean it for you."
I had faucets that were leaking in the bathroom. I called AHS. The customer service was very good. They were always very helpful when I reached out to them. AHS is good with telling me that somebody would call. They would give me the information of the person that would call. Somebody would call from that company or text. I had a problem with the sewer line and I didn't have any ability to use any bathrooms. When I made a claim, AHS was unresponsive. Three days later, I was still trying to get ahold of the plumber. They finally reassigned someone but in the meantime, I had to hire my own plumber to come. I called around and found someone that came out the same day to help to at least alleviate the problem to where they at least restored services again.
There was a lot of back and forth because AHS have protocols involved. They ended up sending people out that refused to scope the plumbing to see what was actually going on and didn't want to see video evidence. They ran a snake instead and drew their own conclusion from that. When they ran the snake, there were some evidence of roots and that automatically disqualified everything. It didn't matter that the pipe collapsed and that it didn't have anything to do with the roots. So that was not so good. They walked away and said it wasn't anything that they covered. AHS ended up not doing anything. In the end, I received a sizeable settlement from my homeowners insurance that took care of the problem. But AHS should have fixed the plumbing because the homeowners insurance didn't fix the plumbing part of it. They fixed everything that it damages.
Other than that, AHS has been great. If there's just regular normal stuff happening, they're a good company for that and that's why I kept them. I've had AC maintenance cycle done and had the AC repaired recently. It broke down on a weekend, so I had to wait for service until Monday. But on early Monday, the guy from Hansen Mechanical came out because I left a message on a Saturday explaining that it was an urgent situation. I told him that I have an 88-year-old in the house who's in hospice care, and that I've got fans to try to deal with it, wetting her down every hour and so forth to keep her cool. So, they responded to that and the AC was fixed before noon. The issue ended up being the condenser, so he replaced it.

I have put in all kinds of requests and they've been sending people out. But it's not getting fixed. The first repair person told AHS that it was not repairable and they should get a new stove. But, they started ordering parts. They sent a specialist and for him to get the parts, it took three weeks. He repaired it but when I used the oven for the 4th of July, it was still seeping out gas.
I had a supervisor call me yesterday and they all said the same thing: “We're gonna get somebody out there.” I've called the gas company and done everything I could possibly do. We even had the bath cut off and I had to pay an additional fee for the plumbers through AHS to come. They said, “You gotta get the person for this oven to come back ‘cause that's where the gas smell is coming from.” I had to pay the $125 and the reps said unfortunately, they couldn't reimburse me for that. In the other times I've used AHS, I've never had this problem. I am very angry.

With the exception of when it's a holiday, American Home Shield have always come through in a pinch. I've been very pleased. When I had a sink stoppage in the kitchen, I did the claims process online and then Chase from Patriot Plumbing came out. I've used Patriot Plumbing before. They're the guys that normally come out when I screw something up.
Chase has been out on occasion. He's always very friendly and professional. He always presents himself well. The fix must have taken all of eight minutes. I knew what the problem was. I knew it had to be snaked, and he came in. He said, “All right. We're gonna put the P-trap back on because that way, we can fill it with water and we'll know when I get the clog.” Otherwise, if there's no water and they’d have to put it back together again, and then try and run the water. So he put it back together very quickly, and filled it with water. The clog wasn't too far down. All he did was drop the snake down and did his thing, and bingo! It was done.

Home Shield wasn't too helpful in the whole process. With what I paid them to do, I could have done it myself and pretty much did a lot of it myself. But Plymwr Plumbing was very receptive. They had to change it out. The additional costs were out of my pocket, which I found out later that it was something that I wasn’t supposed to pay. But both of the technicians were great. I've had American Home Shield for a long time. I used to have three policies. I own two rental properties that I had American Home Shield on but I've since sold those two. Their service has been good. The air kept triggering the circuit breaker and then it stopped working. I called on a Sunday and submitted the claim through a recording. They told me who was assigned and when the appointment would be. They also told me when the contractor was on their way. The contractor was timely and they fixed the unit.

In the beginning, I had a miscommunication on my plan. I had to upgrade and get a more expensive one for my HVAC system. Other than that, I haven't had any issues. Recently, my dishwasher wasn't draining and the buttons weren't operating properly. I had two different techs and they were both excellent. The first one looked at the dishwasher and cleared the clog. But then my dispenser wasn't working properly. So, he had to order a new one and he said that his office would call within the week to have another tech come. They had the replacement within two days and they were back within a week. The second tech was really friendly and patient. I was three minutes late and he waited for me.

I'm paying more deductibles and having the contractors come out takes up a lot of my time because I have to keep calling back. I've been thinking if it's really worth it for me or if I could just set this money aside and call somebody and deal with it myself. I would like one-trip resolution unless there's something that has to be ordered and they have to come back.

We've been pretty happy with American Home Shield up to this point. We just had an air conditioner replaced and we ended up paying the people that came $5,200. I was a little taken aback by that amount. Also, American Home Shield has contracted with some people that didn't look very professional. Some of them came and looked like they just crawled out of bed. Their clothes were not suitable. It may have been a uniform, but it was shirts out and not clean. Their work was not good quality either. I've let American Shield know about that.

American Home Shield has been pretty nice. I like the warranty. I've been able to use it several times on some items that had broken. So, I really enjoyed it. I had a contractor come out last week and they fixed a leak I had under my sink. But then I noticed yesterday that the leak started back. So, I ended up turning that water off and called American Home Shield. I told them they need to open that claim back up, and they did. They're coming back out tomorrow.
The only thing is that when I have problems with my air conditioner, I normally end up paying out of pocket because it takes so long for American Home Shield to get somebody out here. My AC went out yesterday so I put in a claim, and whoever they gave the job to said they can't get out here till Monday. But we're gonna have a heat index over 100 degrees starting tomorrow. So, I ended up calling a local AC place and they're gonna come out here today. But that's out of my pocket.
Wow! Thanks so much for your feedback. We appreciate your business.

May Heating and Air came out for my air conditioner. They were prompt and very professional. They called right before they came to say, "We have 10 minutes in the area." They weren't able to do anything. But they were able to tell me what the problem was and then they reported back to American Home Shield and the place where they worked for to let them know that this was the work that needed to be done. So it was a good experience.
The only problem is that I've been waiting since June for the air conditioner to get fixed. I called the last company that did the work, and the gentleman said, "Okay. I'll get back to you," but never got back to me. So I had been waiting for American Home Shield to call me. The young lady said that one part came in and that she's waiting for the next part. It's burning hot in Georgia and I have to go somewhere else in order to sleep.

When the tech came out for the AC, he identified it as being just a little low on Freon. He fixed it. It was a great experience. He was informative about the job. He explained things in layman’s terms. Overall, American Home Shield is great. However, they turn out volume calls to these organizations. So the guy that was supposed to fix our refrigerator never fixed it. It just keeps on doing the same thing. So sometimes the repairmen do shoddy work because there's so many volume calls.
There had been a couple of times when American Home Shield didn't pay for the repairs because they only pay the contracted company a set rate. So when they come out, they come up with other fees and things of that nature. We were considering leaving American Home Shield because of that. It seemed like we would pay the $75 service fee, but the actual company would come up with additional fees, like $1,200. But this last experience was positive.

American Home Shield is still dealing with one of my air conditioners right now. They're trying to go through the approval process because it needs more work. But the claims process is pretty simple. I just go online, put a claim in, and then they will assign a vendor usually right away. But there's one vendor that I don't care for that they use, and I got him this time on the air conditioner. My air conditioner was broken, and it took them about five days. But they told me if I pay them $150, they'll come out earlier. So, I did. I ended up paying $250 because I have to pay a $100 deductible to American Home Shield just to get them to come out earlier.
The experience that I had with the vendor that came out for my dryer was horrible. It took a month to get my dryer back. The guy called the repairman, but instead of coming out, he asked me what the error said. So, I told him. Then he ordered a part and when they came to replace it, it was the wrong part. So, they had to order the part again. But when they came out, it was the wrong part again. This happened four times and it took about five weeks for them to fix the issue. I had two more parts shipped to my house. It took the guy an hour and a half to finally get my dryer to run. I called American Home Shield and complained. I told them, “I don't want these people coming to my house again for anything because they took five weeks and kept getting the wrong parts.” So American Home Shield needs to listen to their customers about the vendors they use because some of them are not that great.

Because I had my family and we didn't have any air conditioning in the house. South Texas was getting over 100 degrees, so that helped out. The tech from Bertech Heating and Cooling was great, efficient, punctual, fast and very informative. He went outside and checked the outside unit. I've been a long-time customer of AHS in different homes. Their service has always been good and top-notch. The only thing that I don't think American Home Shield is appropriate for is a 10-year or younger home. But anything older than that, it's very appropriate. We had a washing machine drain that was plugged. The tech came out and tried to run a snake through it and put some chemicals through it. But it didn't seem to work. He suggested that he'd come back. And this time, it was gonna be $1,000 to use a water pressure machine on it, where he was gonna blow through the line. I asked him, "This is a washing machine line. It's PVC pipe. I don't know if it's gonna handle that." He said, "It will, and it'll solve the problem” for $1,000.
I went in and I ran a little water through this washer to see what would happen. True enough, it drained. It was fine. So I called them. I said, "I’m canceling an appointment that we have." The lady said, "Okay. I have no problem. You haven't paid for it yet." But I probably would have canceled that anyway whether the drain had worked or not. Because we were moving, selling the house, and I didn't feel like spending $1,000 on a drain. That was a lot of money.

There's a disconnect between the callers and the weekend folks. My AC unit went out, and when I called in the evening, I told the operator, "I need to see about getting somebody either tonight or early tomorrow." I called twice and both operators just kept saying, "It takes 24 to 40 hours to get somebody and then it won't be on the weekends." Generally, the service with American Home Shield has been pretty good. Occasionally, they will send somebody that we have felt is not from a very good company. The company has had poor reviews. Then when the workman gets here, they're actually not very good, but that only happened maybe twice over the years. Most of the time, the workmen that they send are pretty good.
We had a repair on a dishwasher not too long ago. The guy that came out explained what was wrong with the dishwasher. He said that the fix was probably not going to last long and that he suspected that within the next year we would have a completely broken-down dishwasher that couldn't be fixed and would need to get a new one, but he had fixed it so that it’s been working so far. American Home Shield covered the issues that we've had. The other day, we had a new wax seal put on a toilet and we weren't sure if that was covered or not. We called them and asked. They said, “Yes, it is covered.” A guy came out and did it, and it's been fine. AHS seems to be doing a pretty good job.

It was super easy to navigate the website of AHS. It has my information. I logged in and then I said what my problem was. I went down to plumbing. I said my faucets were leaking. I didn't know that two faucets are one unit, so I said, "It's two faucets," thinking that it was two different problems. I got a call the next day the Fourth of July from whatever plumbing contractor and the tech came out on the 4th and the tech fixed it. The tech was a nice guy. He knocked on the door and I have a security system so I could see who he was.
My left handle had a bigger problem than the right handle. He had to take the handle off and he had to replace the washer because it was completely deteriorated because I have hard water where I live. But when the tech replaced it, he may have done it too tight because now I don't have any water pressure in my shower. He's got to come back out and adjust that water pressure a little bit. I reached out the next day and they said, "Okay, we'll be out."
I've been with AHS for six years now. I had one plumbing issue that they couldn't deal with. It was a leak in a pipe. But when I had a refrigerator that produced ice and it froze up, they had somebody come right out in 48 hours. The tech had to replace a component and it got replaced right away. If my washer's not draining properly, somebody comes out right away. Or my dryer's off-kilter, somebody comes out. I've had them come out for numerous things and it's always worked well. I'm very appreciative because I'd rather pay a $100 deductible than pay $400 to a plumber or $400 to an electrician. My hot water heater went out in October and the plumbing company that came out, I only paid $750 instead of 2,000. So, that was a big deal. AHS does what I need it to do and it's not expensive too. I'm pleased with AHS.

AHS did well by me several years ago. I owned a home in Delaware and I had American Home Shield. It's a little questionable now. There was some change from the last time we had them. Number one, there's a service charge now. $100 you put down every time you call and request something. Number two, I requested rekeying service and they came out. They said, "You have different kinds of locks, double locks. So, we're gonna have to charge something else." Not only did they get my $100 service fee, but they also charged me $800, to rekey everything. That was not good. Considering changing companies or getting a better explanation of what I should expect on these calls. If my AC is making a lot of noise, I don't see why that couldn't be something that could be covered. What it needs to do? Blow up or stop functioning before somebody comes out and does something?

This is the second time I have done it. The contractors that American Home Shield use are very prompt. My air wasn't cooling. I submitted the claim online on a Saturday and the people came Monday. I don't like calling people because I got to stay on hold. AHS had their website categorized where if it's electrician or plumbing, it's separated and have a lot of things to choose from. And I could just choose from it. So, the website is user-friendly. And the turnaround time is quick. I have done it on a Friday, and people have contacted me the same day. I was shocked because it was a holiday at Tuesday. I didn't think nobody was working, but they came on. And they were there at 12:00.

I like AHS because if anything needs to be repaired or something, I have somewhere to go and I don't have to search for information myself. They're usually really good about letting me know who's coming and what kind of service it would be for. I like being able to have one direct company I can contact. I am very satisfied with their service. They usually have a quick turnaround time and there's a lot of services that they cover that some companies don't always cover.
I had a shower nozzle that wasn't working. AM PM Plumbing came out and replaced a part that goes inside it to make it turn on and off. I submitted this claim online and I like doing the website because it's faster. I don't have to stay on hold and it gives me the option to describe what the issue is. I like the ease of doing it online. Also, I liked the tech. He described what he needed to do and what was done and he was in and out real quick.

But American Home Shield is like an insurance policy. You pay for it and hope you never need it, but if you do, you hope that it will cover whatever needs to be done. So, I have it just in case. My refrigerator's switches for the crushed ice and water no longer worked. They wouldn't push in. So, I was stuck with just getting crushed ice and I couldn't get water out. The tech had to order the part, came back and did that in a timely manner.
I had one problem that was never settled to my satisfaction. I have a mobile home. So, the tech moved the inside vents. They were 18 inches from the wall. So, I had him move them closer to the wall. And he said, "No problem." He went underneath the house and tried to connect them and he said that the ductwork was rusted out and that he could not get a connection to them. So, I called American Home Shield because they would repair or replace ductwork. The people they had come out, one person said, "They are rusted. They need to be replaced." Another person came out and said, "No, this workmanship from the contractor--" because they were underneath and trying to connect them and they couldn't.
They couldn't connect them because they were rusty and so brittle. There were a bunch of pinhole types in them where the rust had eaten through and there were bigger holes like a size of a quarter. But AHS said, "Oh, okay. So, we're not gonna do anything with them." So, I had to pay for that replacement to the ductwork myself because they refused to do it because their people said, "Oh, it's poor quality workmanship," when it was rusted. AHS gets the lowest-paid people. If it's something like on my refrigerator, it doesn't matter. But with my ductwork, it cost me almost 11,000 to get that repaired. It should have been covered under warranty but they refused to do it.

I just finished submitting a claim with American Home Shield for a garage door torsion spring that broke in half. The contractor fixed it. The tech seemed knowledgeable and quick. When he came, he said it's not covered. I showed him the contract. So, he took a picture of it. And he installed the torsion spring. But after the repairs were done, AHS called me back and told me that it wasn't covered. But I have a contract that they sent me that says it is covered. I said, “I'm not paying $200 out of pocket when the contract clearly states it's covered.” They said the contract they sent me is for the renewal. So I said, "Why would you send me a complete contract if it's for a renewal?" If I knew it wasn't covered, I wouldn't call for a claim. I explained that to the girl, and she said, "That makes sense." They said they would just hold off on the claim until my new policy renews and charge then. So, they made it right.
The only thing I wish AHS would do is instead of just assigning me a company is give me a list of companies. Because some of these companies that they send are from far away. So, the scheduling is always off. AC Overhead is two hours away from where I'm at. Other than that, AHS still took care of whatever I needed taken care of.
Thanks Enrique. We're thrilled to hear that you were satisfied with our services. Your feedback is appreciated, and we look forward to helping you again.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for my air conditioner. The contractor had come out. At first, the company tried to get it replaced, but they just kept fixing a bunch of stuff. It took a while to get it finally complete from beginning to end. They had put something in backwards. But they got the ac back to working cold. Austin Heating & Air had good technicians. There was some communication in the beginning. The receptionist were more the ones with the attitude versus the other guys. They would cancel me as a customer because I was confused. And they said, “You know what? I'm gonna call AHS and just cancel your ticket. And you can go somewhere else.” But I didn't wanna start over. So, I bit my tongue and just apologized if I was in the wrong and tried to move forward. Because I was already a couple of repairs in.
Once the summer started again, the ac would work good in the lower heats. But once it started to get the 100s or 90s, it wouldn't keep the house cold. So, I reached back out to send the contractor back over. I'm waiting for an estimate, but I got approved for a replacement. Hopefully, that's good news for me. And just moving forward, I just gotta cover the cost of the crane, which I don't know how much yet. I would have hiccups with any insurance company. But at the end of the day, I've been taken cared of.

AHS has been helpful with everything. I enjoy that I can talk to somebody without doing everything online. Most recently, the AC was not working properly. K&S Heating and AC came out and the issue was that the Freon in there wasn't enough. It had to be charged with a little more Freon.

I called AHS because the thermostat wasn't working and everything went fine. It turned out that the panel wasn't closed right. I've had other claims for the AC before but we didn't care for the tech they sent out before and they gave me somebody else. Other than that, I like AHS for a lot of other appliances that we use them for and I've never had any problems. I've always had somebody come out right away. I've used them for the washing machine and the guy came out the next day and fixed it.

I've had American Home Shield for a long time. And I would not not recommend them. I never had a bad experience, with the exception of the one-time way back, but they corrected it. And everything is hunky-dory. Recently, my dryer stopped working. So it was either the control module or the belt itself. It wouldn't spin. I open it, light would turn on. I hit the start button, and I could see everything light up. But it wasn't communicating. And I could see the counter countdown too with the time.
I love the website. It's very easy to use. But for other things that I've dealt with AHS in the past with, they recommended people I would not allow within a quarter mile radius of this house. And with another experience, I had to call in and say, "No. I don't want them. I want these people." I should have the option to refuse, and let AHS recommend somebody else or I type in who I want to come. Other than that, their website generates immediate results. I like the gentleman that AHS recently sent out. He knew what he was doing. Very courteous and clean. He answered all my questions. And I discussed a couple of scenarios with the dryer. He recommended everything that I hoped he would. So I was very, very pleased with Brooks.

My microwave keypad wasn't working. I called the number for American Home Shield, they scheduled someone to come out, and they gave me a date and kept me up to date when the service would be taken care of. The technician came in, he had the parts and got it fixed. American Home Shield does a pretty good job.

The air conditioner broke and I submitted a request online on a Sunday. Then, I got a call on Monday morning from the contractor, Blue Sky, and I talked them into coming out later that day. They did and fixed the problem. The tech got the job done in 30 minutes. We got lucky it was the very first thing he checked and he happened to have the part in his truck. Before, we have had to wait a long time for parts. But given the past three years of supply chain challenges, it's somewhat to be expected.
The only thing with AHS is when I submit a request online, they systematically assign a contractor and they keep trying to send the same pool company out. That company is awful and have lied blatantly. The wrote things up to where it wouldn't be covered by warranty and I had to spend time and effort to get a second opinion out. The way around it is to call in, submit the request, and tell them I don't want that specific company. It would be nice if AHS gave us options with the contractors.

We just purchased a home in Elkins Park. An older person had it before so the things are really beat-up and outdated. They haven't been maybe serviced. A couple of my friends have American Home Shield and recommended it. We got it. I thought by having the warranty, I can just call up and someone comes out and see about it. I gotta pay and then I'm done. But I don't really understand the warranty. What's the purpose of having the warranty if you have to pay before and you still have to pay when techs come out? A gentleman came out and we had paid $100 beforehand. I figured that was probably what it would cost if I had called somebody out anyway. The gentleman just used a plunger and the tub was unstopped.
As far as the people coming and doing the work, they do what they are entrusted to do. They do well and they're pleasant. They're very helpful and they understand the problems. They come right out too. For example, when the man came in for the tub, he said, "Make sure you hang up the shower thing where the water comes out. Let it drip. Because water stays in there, they back up." That was a helpful hint. So when we shower, we let it hang. We see just what he meant because all the water drains out of that. But I don't understand the copay thing.
Our furnace still works. The problem this morning was the filter had not been changed in two years. I appreciate the tech coming out to tell me that and to get some new filters. But again, even though the thermostat worked, it was busted up. The little plastic screen in the front broke out. I don't want the busted thermostat in my home, so I had to pay for it to get a new one. We got a new one this morning and that was $190. When I gave the lady the work order, I gave $100. In total, it cost me $290. I'm paying the warranty out of my mortgage and when I call to get things done, I pay. And then when techs come out, I pay. That's a lot of money.

We were out of town and my dog sitter shut my door to the hallway, which made my house hot. We thought it was the air conditioner, so we called American Home Shield while we were out of town so it would be fixed when we got home. All I did was fill out the form online and I talked to AHS that afternoon and had the appointment set up for the next day, so it was simple. It ended up being just the doorway was shut, so everything cooled down. But the contractor went ahead and did a service on the ac while they were there because I asked them to.
I used AHS a lot in my first year I had it because I just bought a house. And the last year and a half, the air conditioner was the first time I've used it again. But everybody AHS sent out has been great. The warranty saves us money in the long run. We pay the fee upfront, but when we have an issue, it's covered other than our deductible fee. So, it makes it a lot more affordable for someone who can't shell out $4000 at a time.

In the early days when we first subscribed to Home Shield, when we called the 800 number, we got a customer service rep that answered the phone and the service was A+. Now, we have to press buttons for departments and what we're wanting to do. Then, when we do get a customer service rep, they seem to want to do a good job and work hard at it and they're very nice people, but oftentimes, I have a hard time understanding what they're trying to say. That gets to be a problem.
Other than that, when we've had major items like air conditioning units and water heaters that got bad, Home Shield has stood behind them and replaced them. The most recent claim I had was for the side-by-side refrigerator/freezer in our garage. A switch went out and the unit was not as cold as it needed to be. Home Shield was able to get a technician right over. He switched it out and got it to work just fine. He was very prompt and it was a good deal.

I've had American Home Shield now for eight years. I had them at another house I had 13 years ago, and I had another company and it was just like pulling teeth to get something happening. Somebody told us about AHS and we got them and, sure enough, they were great. I probably spent more money per month than what I get out of it, but if something really big ever happened, it would be good to have. I've never had a problem other than with the vendors they use. I have had to deal with having trouble getting them to do a service at a certain time, but that's really not American Home Shield's problem. I recommend them. I've even sent people to them.
I had a recent claim with Flash Garage Door for my garage door that quit opening. I wouldn't expect them to come as fast as they did. They were very nice, they did a good job, and they were very professional. It was a great deal. He knew what he was doing and I really enjoyed it. I have not one problem with everybody in the last eight years I've dealt with from American Home Shield. Overall, I like that I don't have to argue. I don't have to try to convince them. I just tell them the problem, they take the credit card number, and they call me that night or the next day and set up a deal. It's easy, fast and professional.

We've been with American Home Shield for some years. AHS has been our best bet. My wife knows that I’m not a tinkerer. AHS has put in hot water heater, air condition, microwave, dishwasher, and oven. Recently, my washing machine bounced around. Something in the tub was wrong. I liked the tech. He was quick and knew something was wrong with an appliance. I told him what was wrong. He has already got from American Home Shield what he needed to look at. He came. He told me what was wrong. He fixed it, and left. And if he didn't have the parts, he would submit what he needed to do, and came back and did it. He didn't waste time with a lot of conversation.
