American Home Shield did the ticket and it was done quickly. They checked. They were good and professional. The contractor did whatever they could on day one. They had to order some parts. And they did that themselves. It was a good experience. I recommended a couple of my friends to go ahead with AHS.

What I like about American Home Shield is when I call to request service, they always find me somebody right away. The only thing I don't like is the prices are going higher every year. One of the things that I do when I call is request somebody that speaks Spanish because I get service right away as compared to when I get regular customer service. I just called and told them that my AC wasn't working, and they contacted the contractors. They gave them my phone number, and the contractor called me to set up an appointment. The AC wasn't cooling off like it was supposed to and when the technician came over, he said that it was only dust. We had very hard wind and there was a lot of dust on the side. He said that I needed to have them serviced, but I said that I serviced the air conditioning about two months ago. He said, “Okay, but nothing is needed.” He sprayed it with water and it's cooling off better.

The AC was freezing and it was not producing cold air and it was leaking. The website of AHS was very good when I submitted a claim. From the website, immediately the message got to the subcontractor. The subcontractor took a day to come out. AHS is worth the investment.

With American Home Shield, I like that I didn’t have to call somebody when I had issues, and they take care of it. Their customer service reps are very nice. We have two policies with them and the only thing was with our other home, the air conditioner went out and they said it was from neglect. We dispute that, but it is what it is. It was not covered. Other than that, I had a recent claim for the toilet. The technician was good and they're coming tomorrow with the parts.

So far, the service of AHS has been really wonderful. We filed a claim. They sent out one provider to do the plumbing repair and he ended up having to open up a hole in our ceiling. He was able to get it all taken care of but they had to send out another person to come back and do the drywall, to close the hole in the ceiling. It was painless. Other than the fact that I had a hole for two days while we had to wait for the scheduling, but otherwise, we paid our one service fee and everything has been taken care of.

Their service has been very well. We had service out here on Friday for our dryer. They replaced the rollers. We're still having an issue that they did not fix. They ordered a part. They'll be back out next week to fix it. The techs have been very good. We usually get Sears who is now called A&E. We're very happy with them. We request them whenever we can because they're the best that we've had.
With AHS, I like the peace of mind of knowing that you're gonna pay $75. When we had an issue four years ago with our dishwasher, we paid the $75 fee. After three months, they could not get the part for it. So they ended up giving us a price to replace the whole dishwasher. It wasn't satisfactory to me. I questioned them about it. But they made it right. We ended up replacing all our kitchen appliances. So if they can't fix it, they offer to replace it.

They have been polite, proactive and very good. All the technicians that have come out have been great. People I've talked to on the phone have been outstanding as well. The Sears technician came out recently to check out a refrigerator. He was great and very friendly. However, we had a replacement washing machine come in yesterday and there was some damage. But it was way in the back corner of it where it was not gonna be seen. So I signed a little waiver that said it was fine. The people who delivered it called me and said I should call American Home Shield about it.

The service of AHS has been straightforward and simple. You make the call. You pay your deductible. They come out and they fix it. If it ain't right, they come back. We're not making millions of dollars a year where we can say, "Don't fix it. Let's just replace that thing." It's cheaper to pay a monthly fee than to get hit with a $2,000 bill for a new washer, dryer, or even worse, a hot water tank. These things are expensive. But for that mild amount, you make one call to AHS and that does it all.
I had an issue with my HVAC unit. I had water running on the floor. They resolved that issue. Every time the techs came out, they were very kind and helpful. The last gentleman who came out to fix my HVAC system, I felt really bad because he had to be out there in the heat. He looked a little tired. I made sure that he had some water and an apple, something that's gonna help. He was gracious for it and thankful for it. I was like, "No problem."

I like that AHS is cheap as far as getting something done and it's not too expensive each month. It's better than having somebody come out and you get charged almost triple. They also fix the issue pretty well. However, some of the companies that they use don't always respond in a good timeframe. Sometimes I have to call and check in on them. But in the end, it gets done.
Recently, the fan of the AC wasn't coming on and it wasn't cooling. The first guy that came out couldn't figure out anything was wrong and that anything was going on with it because it worked when he first came. Then, the next day I had to call back and tell them that it wasn't coming on. I had another guy come out within a week. He could tell that the switch was loose. He was also able to look at the motherboard and he replaced that too.

My first claim with AHS was a backed up drain out in the yard, one that goes between the house and the sewer. So they Roto-Rootered that and cleaned it out. They wore two pads and made sure that there wasn't any water leaking going on. They also cleaned up afterwards. It was great. They did good work. My second claim, I had my garbage disposal quit. They replaced it with a brand new one.

The service of AHS has been mostly good. But the first contractor AHS usually sends us is horrible, and then we have to jump through 20 hoops to get a good contractor. We eventually get a good contractor. I just wish it would happen as the first thing that comes up. Our pool was broken. It was too hard for the contractors and they didn't wanna do it. They said they fixed it but they never fixed it. We had to have a second opinion come out and they fixed it on the first try. Whenever it's the second company that comes out, they are always wonderful and they always enjoy working with American Home Shield. The website of AHS is also very easy to navigate. I like that a lot.

When we bought this house, all the appliances, we had no idea how old they were, so we bought AHS in case something breaks unexpectedly. Being retired, I'd rather put a little bit out a month than have a large bill later. Recently, the tech from Sears showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, left, and came back with the parts. He was fine. He knew what he was doing. Everything went smoothly.

The AC was blowing hot air. I called AHS and it was very easy to get through someone. The rep was very pleasant. The rep gave me the name of the tech that would come out, and then they texted over they would be making an appointment with Air Pro Master. The tech came out and replaced the motor in the air conditioner.
The guy was personable. His name was Mario. Introduced himself well. He had the right information because they had already been out a month prior to do a capacitor on it. I didn't have to tell him anything. He came into the house for two seconds, went up on the roof, got the motor running again, and then said that he'd be back the next day to replace it because he didn't have one on the truck. He showed up at the time he said he was gonna show up. He handled his business the same way he did the first day. We really appreciated it.

We had some leaky faucets. The tech was able to repair them. The tech was a very nice young man. The technicians that AHS has sent have been fine. The only frustration sometimes is they look at it and say, "I have to order a part," and then you're at the mercy of the suppliers. But that's not the technician's fault. The supplier is the only drawback to the home warranty.
AHS seems to be fairly flexible in terms of renewals. I used to have five more until they priced themselves out of existence. But for a major property, they seem to wanna renew at a reasonable price. If they don't, you keep pushing until you get a reasonable price. I'm always a little frustrated, "Why didn't you give me that price at the very beginning? I've been with you 10 years." Choice Home Warranty will beat their price every day.

The capacitor on the pool pump needed to be repaired. Working with Alchemist Pool Service was great. AHS has responded so far this summer. In July, my main refrigerator went out. That took five days to repair. But AHS brought the appropriate technician who was able to repair it. Then the AC unit needed a capacitor and someone was there within 48 hours to repair that. I've had four claims but what I dislike is the last one. I'm waiting for authorization to be approved or denied on an air conditioning unit that is not working. It's been going on since August the 1st and the unit is at a rental property. I have a tenant there and it's 89 degrees in the house. The technician stated that he diagnostic problem that he sees has to get authorization, and it's most likely not covered. So, I may be looking at some significant costs.

I just had a claim and I'm disappointed. I have an old HVAC that is 25 years old. The tech wrote "lack of maintenance" as the reason why it failed. I complained and AHS sent someone else. That was good and I appreciate that. The new tech was more experienced. He said he'd get a report to AHS today and then I'll wait to hear from them. There are a lot of things AHS doesn't cover and the price is getting higher. Coverage is almost $90 a month which is over $1,000 a year. My friend who is in real estate said he's with Fidelity and they're much cheaper. If AHS gets back to me and says they're not covering anything, I will terminate the contract.

I was having an issue with the AC because it was not cooling. I called American Home Shield and I put the order in. Airboss came. They checked the entire unit, and they realized that the compressor was at fault. It had a leak, so they changed it. I didn't like that I had to wait two weeks for it to go through. It was the hottest part of the summer. But once Airboss had the okay, they came immediately the next day and replaced the compressor. I had to pay 1,400 out-of-pocket for the refrigerant but the labor and parts were included. AHS is worth having.

The first experience we had with American Home Shield in Florida, we had them for a week and our four ton air conditioner went out. They had to replace it. Recently, the dryer wouldn't heat up. The tech was out right away. He had a part in his truck. He was in and out of here in no time. We had AHS at another home, a block away. It took them a while to send the guy that fit the hot water tanks. It took him two hours to drive out there. It didn't seem like worth his while to do it. I felt sorry for the guy. AHS needs a more centrally located. It's problematic that he would have to go so far. When they get their bids, they can look them over and maybe they want second best. Other than that, they're lightweight surprise bills compared to heavyweight surprise bills. I only have a bill each month, but I don't have big surprises.

The service has been very, very good and very prompt. I've enjoyed it a lot. American Home Shield is very reasonable. I'm a new homeowner, so they definitely helped me out a lot. I've had to call them out for some repairs to the air conditioning unit of the property. More recently, I had a problem with my refrigerator. This claim was a little bit more difficult to navigate through with them, just for the fact that the issue was reoccurring a lot. I understand there was due process with it as far as sending out a claim and waiting for somebody to come out and evaluate. It was a bad issue to have because if the refrigerator is not working, your food can go bad. But American Home Shield was able to rectify the problem after a little while. There was a lot of back and forth, but they were able to make it right, which I really appreciated.
It would be nice if there was a way you can escalate claims that couldn't wait, especially if it was reoccurring with the same problem. The first time I tried to get the problem fixed with my refrigerator, it lasted for a little while and it was after the period where I could reopen that same claim again. I had to open up another claim with the same problem. It's a little bit tricky to gauge because it could have been another problem or wasn't exactly the same problem. But this one turned out to be the exact same problem. So it would be nice if there was some way that there could be a tracking system of the reported problems. So if they saw that it was the same exact problem from the past, they could escalate it. But other than that, everything's been relatively good with American Home Shield. I've been enjoying it. But I noticed that my rate increased a little bit and it wasn't explained to me why it increased on that.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I sent in a claim when the HVAC had a blockage on the AC. The contractor had to come and unclog it. Then in a month or so, another issue happened with the blower motor and they replaced the blower motor unit. American Home Shield gives me peace of mind. But they should assign a contractor a little bit more early, and then work with alternate guys if those guys are not available instead of waiting for 48 hours.

The control board of my fridge and the fan motor went out. They had to replace those two. The only problem I had was the technician told me that they would come back the following Wednesday. He said the part would come to my house, which it did, but the second part came that Wednesday morning, so they did not come until Friday. So I had to take another day off. That was the only part I didn't like because they changed my appointment time. I already had my stuff fixed to be there on that Wednesday. They fixed it that Friday. But I had to use a cooler and ice to keep my stuff cool for a whole week. That wasn't cool at all.

I had an air conditioning issue that was supposed to be fixed before we closed but was not, and then some plumbing issues. The claims process was quick and easy. I just clicked the link in their email, went to their website, logged in, chose my problems, and submitted the issue. Within 24 hours, a technician called to set up an appointment to come check out my issue. The contractor was able to fix the air conditioning issue the same day. So I was very happy.
With the plumbing issue, they identified it right away. They just had to see what the coverage from American Home Shield would be. That took a couple of days and now, they're waiting for parts to fix it. But the whole toilet has to be replaced and we have to pay $150 for the toilet seat because American Home Shield considers the toilet seat as an accessory and not actually a plumbing implement. Then there was another part of it that wasn't covered also. So we are going to have to pay about $500 out of pocket for this plumbing claim. But overall, American Home Shield covered quite a bit for a brand-new home warranty policy. So I'm happy with them.

A month after we moved in, we had an issue with our dishwasher, and we submitted a claim. American Home Shield sent out a technician and diagnosed the issue. But he lied. He told AHS that I told him that the dishwasher was broken before we moved in. I had an inspection report when we purchased the home that everything was working correctly. Then AHS denied the claim.
I had a terrible time trying to reach somebody to get an answer. It was close to a month before I found out the reason for the denial on the claim. Up until then, I was not getting an answer. Anybody I tried to call would not be able to answer the reason why. At that point, I just wrote them off. A few weeks back now, our air conditioner went on the fritz. I called AHS on the phone and the turnaround time was next day. The reps were polite and they said someone would get ahold of me. They also told me who it was coming from, so I knew. The tech who came out was a very nice person. He had a sense of humor because when he was going out the door, I asked if there was a warranty and he said the time he'd get in his truck and leave. And he was laughing because I was joking with him.
My cousin was right across the street and I told him he needed to get Home Shield, too. He got it, but he didn't get the thing where I get the $25 Amazon card and he gets one. I told him he was supposed to tell them that he was recommended by me but it’s complicated to try to get anything. Once it's been done, it's been done, which is wrong. It'd be a lot easier way when you have to go to some site to sign in to do this and then go in that way. He thought he just went in there and it went in that way. But it didn't work there and that was a little bit screwed up that way. And that happened twice to me.

Our garbage disposal wasn't working and in one of our faucets, the water was not coming out with the right pressure. I submitted a claim online with AHS and their website was fairly straightforward. They assigned some company to work the issue within 20 minutes, but it was a couple of days before the tech showed up. The gentleman had some tools that we didn't have, so he was able to do a little bit more checking than we were able to and he found the issue with the garbage disposal pretty quickly. And with the faucet, he ended up having to replace part of the spout.
American Home Shield's service is good with a given particular conditions. If it's an issue that happens on a weekend, you might not see anybody until Monday and that's understandable. However, when they dispatch the job to a company, some of the companies that they dispatch stuff to have very low ratings. So, usually, I would wait to see who the company was dispatched to then check the rating online. And if they had a bad rating, I would cancel the request and make a new one. For my last claim, they assigned a company the first time that was correct. But in previous times, I had to cancel and do another request before I got a better company.

I had an issue with the freezer and I submitted a claim with AHS. The service was pretty good and it turned out that the water line had to be thawed out. I didn't even have to call them to do it and I could have done it myself. I also had a problem with the disposal and they ended up having to replace the whole thing. The techs came and did everything on the spot. All in all, the warranty has a good price for what you get.

I had an issue with the recirculating hot water pump. I spoke with a rep at AHS. Had a hard time explaining what the recirculating hot water pump was. They thought it was a water heater. But it's working fine now. However, I had to wait a couple of days while JC Plumbing went back to the American Home Shield to get clearance to replace the part. It would be nice to be able to clarify things a little quicker upfront.

My water heater started leaking and T&C Plumbing came and took a picture of the old water heater. They set it up. The plumber immediately called American Home Shield because it was a 32-year-old water heater and there was an additional payment that they had to make because the code in 1991 is not the same as today. So, AHS was covering the water heater, but I had to go out of pocket for the installation of the water heater to be under the current code. That was resolved on the same day they came. T&C Plumbing didn't call me on Friday. They probably didn't find the time to get the boiler and everything that they need but they called Saturday morning. They made the appointment between 4:00 and 6:00 but called to come earlier at 3:00. It took a while, but that's probably their policy because there was only one technician. But he did an amazing job. I didn't have to be without a water heater for long.
I’m impressed with T&C Plumbing. On the conference call with American Shield, they explained how much it was going to cost me out of pocket and the work that they were going to do, and if I'm okay with all of that. And I said yes. I need the new water heater. I always have a great experience with AHS. Once or twice, I set it up and the contractor would come in 10 days. I said I cannot wait 10 days. I called AHS and they set me up with another contractor.

The dryer was still running when it turned off. So, we had to unplug it. The first time we unplugged it, it reset itself. But after that, it wouldn't reset any more. It's getting the error codes E-1 and F-1. The contractor has been out before. He seemed knowledgeable and competent. He conferred with his superior and they agreed on what the problem was. The unit's old and they've seen it before in this unit. It's a computer board and American Home Shield had already done a repair on this unit. So, they said rather than fix this and then something else goes wrong, they would just replace it. We could take a dollar amount and buy one from Lowe's or we could get one direct from Whirlpool and that one would cover the whole cost. They said a new one and that's what I'm hoping.
I've had several problems AHS has fixed and they send out someone that they trust. I don't have to look all around the world. The contractors make a 100% effort, to comply with their contract with American Home Shield. So, they come out right away. In the real world right now, you can't get anybody to do anything. I moved to McComb two years ago so, it's different vendors. I had been in Lumberton for 15 years and knew who to call when something went bad. And usually, it was hard to find people out there too, but I never thought about purchasing American Home Shield. It's definitely worth the money. It's worth the deductible just to have somebody who's interested in coming out and fixing the problem. I'm happy with them and we've been with them for over a year.

One guy came out and said he had to order some parts for the dishwasher and a different technician came back when the part came in and did the repair. But both of them were very knowledgeable and professional. American Home Shield doesn't have that many people on duty, especially with just getting through Covid. You may have to wait a while to talk to them. In the past, we had the air conditioning unit go out and we had to wait days and days. We live in Louisiana, so, especially this time of year, that's bad news. So AHS could improve on reducing the wait time. But I understand that's not dependent on them but more on the company that they call to do the repair. Overall, everything is good. I pay $90 a month and if you have something go out, even a water heater, which they replaced earlier this year, AHS is definitely cost-effective.

So, American Home Shield gave me a follow-up from the person that left a few things undone. The service has been great with AHS and the only problem is that at times, it’s the wrong type of contractor. The washing machine was repaired a year ago by Ennis Appliance Center. It was making all kinds of racket and the techs replaced a major part and it got better for a while. But it started doing it again. The dryer had gone to where it was taking two loads to dry versus the normal one. I had checked the vents and everything I knew to do and didn't seem to find anything. Then, they had been out for the dishwasher at least once. Columbia Appliance had been out one time as well and the dishwasher just never worked very well since I bought the house. It has never cleaned very well. Several pieces have been replaced on it and it just had gotten to where it wasn't cleaning, wasn't drying, and it wouldn't even get the soap off the little soap area in the dishwasher. So, I called American Home Shield to have everything looked at.
I've been needing the techs to come out for the dishwasher but have been putting it off for a little while. The washing machine and the dryer started acting up, so I thought I better get the tech out here. I went online and picked appliances and then, it asked which ones were needing repair. I checked the three that needed repair and it asked me for a little description of what was going on. I got a reply email that my claim had been received and that Ennis Appliance with the address and phone number would be contacting me to schedule a time to come out. The tech was very nice. I was very pleased and would use them even if I was paying for it myself.
The tech replaced a part on the dryer and it is functioning awesome. I got an email after he put in whatever he suggested needed to be done for the dishwasher and the washing machine and AHS decided to offer a payout to get new appliances. So I worked with AHS and those are scheduled to be delivered on the 8th. I bought my home in January of 2021. It was winter and the central air couldn't be checked very well in the inspection. It was the original unit to the home so I made it part of the deal that the sellers include one year of home warranty in case that didn't work come summer. Shortly after that, AHS reached out and said we could extend it to appliances. So I did it and I had a repair on the washing machine in the first year, and it was so easy. It was nice to have that. You can make one little call, and somebody else takes care of getting somebody out here.

Our air conditioner had a problem and American Home Shield sent someone out to fix it. We called on a Tuesday and the company called that same afternoon and set up an appointment for that Friday between 8:00 and noon. Joe, the technician, called or sent a text saying he would be here at 8:30 and he was. He fixed the problem and we couldn't have been happier. He took my husband out who is a stickler for wanting to know what went on, explained what the problem was, and showed him a few things.
We have been very happy with AHS. We've had several problems over the years and they have been very good about sending someone and having the repairs done. The only issue we had was both my husband and I are elderly and we had a microwave that we needed replaced. They replaced the microwave but would not install it. They gave us money to have it installed so, we had to find somebody to install it for us. It was an over-the-stove microwave and we were able to find somebody finally to install the microwave but we didn't quite understand that. I like everything about American Home Shield. I like that when I call them, somebody goes out there and takes care of the problem. When our AC quit working, someone came out and fixed it that same day. I never used to believe in home warranties because I have every contractor under the sun to come out and fix everything that I need. One day years ago, the air conditioner at my mom's house broke down and it cost her a couple of thousand dollars to have an air conditioning company come out and fix it. My mom struggled to have a couple of thousand dollars. I knew that there was probably going to be a day that my air conditioner would go out too. At that point, I thought it might be a good time for me to get a home warranty when I purchase a house. You never know.
I'm a real estate agent, and I have clients. When they get home warranties, they ask me who I recommend. And because of the service that I've gotten from American Home Shield, I recommend them. I order a lot of American Home Shield warranties for my clients. A home warranty is like health insurance and I tell my clients that it's for the big stuff, like water heaters, air conditioners, and furnaces. That was the only sole purpose of why I ended up getting a home warranty on my house. I don't use it a lot. But for what I've used it for, it was definitely nice to have.

The freezer of a portable refrigerator for an upstairs bedroom wasn't working but the motor was running. I submitted a claim with AHS and the contractor got back to me within 24 hours. But they sent a technician to fix something that he couldn't fix. When I called AHS about my claim, I told them what was going on, sent photos of the refrigerator, and gave them the model number. But when the tech came out, he said he couldn't fix it because it could be the compressor and they didn't have compressors of that type. He said they were going to call AHS and have them take care of finding someone else to come over for us.
So, I left it to them and American Home Shield sent me a closeout saying that my item has been closed out. So I called them up and the rep said that they were going to have someone else come out. But it didn't seem like they knew what was going on. So that took another couple of days and when that guy called me, he said he couldn't do it until the end of the week because he was busy. So it took longer than it should have.
When the guy finally came out, he said that it was not the compressor as it was running. He found out that the fan was frozen stuck. He said that when you leave the door open, the thing keeps running then it freezes up the fan, so then everything stops. When you close the door, the fan stops spinning. He opened the door, he took a blow dryer heater, heated up the fan, and wiped off all the remaining water that melted off. The fan started spinning and the freezer was working again. The first guy could have done it if he had looked a little bit more carefully. And the second guy got it done because he took time to see what was really going on.

This was the second time I had them and this time, it took them five days to even call me for an appointment. I had a leaky sink. It took me two weeks to get American Home Shield to assign me a different plumbing company. They gave me Adam's who I had before for the water heater. At first, American Home Shield was good, for the most part. But we're still dealing with an issue right now where we had one of their maintenance crews come out. They connected my air conditioning wrong. They set the motor in reverse. We thought it was working, but then it failed again. When we called them this time, they brought somebody out. We didn't know that it was wired incorrectly. So it had to be the previous crew they sent that did that. The tech fixed it and everything went well. But we shouldn't have to pay for that twice.
American Home Shield's pool warranty is not worth it. They have so many exclusions on it that they can't repair anything on a pool. They made it very hard for me to take that particular feature off. In fact, they didn't reimburse me for it. They just gave me free credits toward the calls I would make in the future. The first level of customer service at American Home Shield was God-awful. They were resistant and I had to threaten to leave in order to get them to take that one little thing off. I finally had to convince the lady to escalate me to somebody else. I then got somebody that could finally do something.
They should have a more educated first level customer service. It seems like they're designed to say no to everything instead of taking time to research it. When we did have problems, they could look back through their notes. They need to figure out a way, especially when they give you credits, that when you call back in, it's easy for them to find it. Because the customer service rep had to go back and read all the notes. At first, she did not go back far enough in the notes to find it. But after being pressed, she went back further and actually found it.

We have had a home warranty with American Home Shield for 30 months. When we purchased our home, it came with a 6-month warranty with AHS which we decided to stay with afterwards. Our water heater went out in late June, and we called AHS immediate. They charged the normal $100 for filing a claim then connected us with Whitney T. Holdings LLC as the plumbing contractor. The contractor diagnosed the problem with the water heater by connecting to my phone then asking me to point the camera at various spots so they could take photos. It was soon determined that the tank needed to be replaced which is when problems started.
I spent many hours making calls and waiting on hold with both AHS and the contractor trying to get the installation scheduled. AHS would tell me they were waiting on the contractor to provide information and at the same time the contractor would tell me they were waiting on AHS to provide information. Eventually, we were able to schedule the installation but only after paying the contractor $515 to replace the flu. This was 10 days after we originally filed the claim. We explained to both AHS and the contractor that this was more than an inconvenience as our 25-year-old daughter has special needs and our shower is set up for her specifically.
Once the installation was complete, I noticed that they connected the tank to the old flu even though we had already paid for a new one. The plumber stated that there was no need to replace it and that I should contact their main office for a refund. When I requested the refund, I was told the $515 was to cover costs not paid for by AHS. The invoice they provided to us, and AHS does not provide details of what the money was for. The contractor refuses to refund the money and has only said they are sorry. We are unhappy with the service they provided.
I then contacted AHS thinking they would help get our money refunded. After speaking to multiple customer service reps. and waiting on hold for at least 30 minutes per call, we were eventually transferred to the Member Resolution Department. The 1st time we connected with this department they said they would forward everything to their Contractor Relations department, and it would take 48 hours to get a response. I called back two days later and had to go through the whole process again. 1) Call customer service and explain the situation. 2) Get forwarded to Member Resolutions and explain the situation. 3) Get told to wait 48 hours while Contractor Relations reviews the case. I went through this process 3 times before giving up and cancelling the warranty.
Regarding the process of cancelling a warranty with AHS… It is a long difficult process where you must explain your reason for canceling then listen to them tell you how they understand your frustration but would hate for you to be without a warranty if something were to happen. It took me at least 2 hours to get them to cancel. By the way, it costs $90 to cancel! In total, it cost us $705 to have the water heater replaced and the warranty cancelled! Our monthly payment for the AHS warranty was $90. Do yourself a favor and stay clear from AHS!!!

I'm 71 and the online claims process with American Home Shield is very easy to do, even for somebody who is not computer literate. I can call or submit a claim online and they usually get somebody out there properly, and they take care of whatever the issue is. American Home Shield is a good company and they do what they say they're gonna do.

I sent in a claim for some leakage on my water heater. This experience was much better than the one I had before where I had problems with my gas stove. That one took close to eight months and it was not completely resolved. So, I was very pleasantly surprised when we put the request for the water heater and I got a pretty quick fix on it. The first day that the tech came out, he assessed what the damage was. They had to replace the whole thing, so he had to go back. But within a day, I got a phone call and they told me that it was gonna take two days. They were able to purchase the part and get back to me within four days. They were able to schedule the service for the time I requested. The tech was right on time. Initially, he thought it was going to be a couple of hours. It took him four hours because he had to run and get some missing adapter. But he was very professional.

I like that the service is predictable. It's kind of predictable that we'll be able to budget for home repairs and get them done. We had Sears come out both for the dishwasher and the refrigerator. They did great service. They were very prompt. Sears was the most prompt vendor that I've ever had. They were very fast. They were very efficient and ordered the part. Some of the Sears guys are arriving today to put the part in the fridge to get it done. So I was happy with both Sears and American Home Shield for picking me up with them. I prefer to call in my claim. It's easier for me to call them. I like that they have that option with things getting so automated these days and with voicemail loops when you call places. I like that I can reach a live person.

Sometimes the communication with American Home Shield isn't as clear as it could be. I gotta pay attention to what they're sending me too. But other than that, they've kept their end of the agreement. When I had a claim for the air conditioner, the guy that came out didn't make me feel like an idiot. The air conditioner flipped the breaker. He told me why the breaker flipped and also showed me on the panel that it was a 35 amp condenser. The breaker was a 30 amp one and it was on the hottest part of the day. He said, "So you probably would want to get a 35 amp breaker. But before you do that, make sure that your wire can support that." But I found out that they don't make 35 amp breakers anymore. So I'm still in a quandary on how to solve that problem.

I have my AC looked at by the company that installed it every six months to do the winterization, and then the summer stuff for the HVAC. They happened to notice that the pan was cracked and that there were some issues with the coils. They sent me an estimate that was outrageous but I have a home warranty. So I contacted American Home Shield and I went with the company that they deal with. I left a message and the gal responded the same day, and then they were out within a couple of days. The whole thing started in June and the job was finished on July 25th. Any delays were because they had to order parts twice. They only got the coil, and then they had to wait another two weeks to get the pan.
I also had a claim for my cooktop range. It took a little more having to escalate it to get it fixed because it took forever and ever. The guys tried to fix it but they couldn't fix it. Trying to talk to somebody was next to impossible. I asked them several times, "Who can I talk to? I need to talk to your supervisor." But they kept saying, "We can't let you do that." That irritated me for a long time because I kept trying to fix it. The technicians for the range top came out four times. Luckily, I've got a six-burner stove and it was only two that would click and never go on. It finally got resolved. But it took us three months.

Having American Home Shield is a good benefit, because my washer had gone out a while back and they were able to replace it with another one. I had to pay the difference because AHS didn't wanna pay for the exact type of washer that I had. But If I didn't have AHS when my freezer went out, I would have paid $1,300 for repairs. So, it makes a difference on the warranties. In the past, my experience with them was very crappy. This time here, it was very good. Because they got rid of the contractor that supposedly had fixed my renter’s refrigerator and it wasn't fixed properly. My refrigerator had gone out of the freezer part. The recent contractor was able to fix it. It took three weeks for the parts to come in. But the guy was very good about fixing things.

And it took the contractor three more days to get here to fix it. That was the worst experience that I've had with AHS. But having it is like a security blanket. American Home Shield usually answers right away. I asked for this specific company that I used about three months ago to look at my dishwasher and they sent them. The dishwasher is only four years old and it works great but I couldn't turn it on or none of the buttons would light up. I flipped the breaker and it wasn't that. I tried everything and it wouldn't turn on. It needed the whole electrical panel replaced where the settings were. AHS covered that but I had to wait till they ordered it. The guy came back and put it right in and it started working fine again.
I called AHS about the rack but they were quick to jump to say they don't cover the racks anymore unless it impedes the function of it. It's impeding it because the left side is broken and the right is not. It has a blade on the bottom and on the bottom of the top rack and the blade is hitting the items that are on the bottom rack because it's leaning on the left side. So then, they would fix it. They weren't gonna do it if that wasn't happening. It's weird that AHS doesn't cover racks anymore because they did four years ago. I bought another brand-new dishwasher in May of 2018 and it was a GE and I had nothing but problems with that thing. It was a lemon.
GE tried to cover everything and then, the warranty was up in a year and I called the next day. They said my warranty was up on it and they wouldn't come out and fix it. So, I tried to get American Home Shield out here and they said the warranty should still be good if this happened. So, it was back and forth with GE and them. I said I'm not buying the GE product again because it was a lemon and I asked if AHS could at least send me another dishwasher. I've called five times for things that's gone wrong with this and they said that model has been discontinued. I told them to send me something similar and they wouldn't do it. AHS didn't pay for me to get a new one because it wouldn't work at all because it was the motor. So, I got screwed all the way around. I ended up borrowing $500 from my dad to get a new one, which is the one I have now.
My porch light went out and it wasn't the bulb and it wasn't the breaker because I tried it several times. So, I bought a new porch light but I couldn't find anybody to put it up for me because I'm not supposed to be climbing. So, I called American Home Shield. I'll just have to pay them and let them charge me the $100 to come out to replace it. But the rep told me that they only cover things inside the slab. In other words, inside the house, inside of the slab. I said my front porch is part of my slab. It is attached to my slab and the light is on the wall there. But they said it's outside and they only cover the inside. Not replacing the porch light ticked me off.
All AHS does is take. They don’t pay you anything. They don't cover certain things anymore, which they should cover, and the prices have gone up a little. I used them for many years off and on. I have a reverse mortgage and they called me and told me that American Home Shield was no longer suited. They're not good enough to be considered as one that can be used as the required home warranty with my reverse mortgage anymore. AHS is nitpicky now. Some people used it a lot and got a lot of things but now, AHS doesn't even cover pipes anymore that are outside the home. If you have a pipe burst, they won't even cover that anymore. I have the Gold Shield package, which is the second tier and it covers the ice maker. So, it makes me wonder if I should look into it a little more.
I had to call the Better Business Bureau on them once with my hot water heater because it quit working. I know it was old and the techs came out and changed the conduit and the couplet on top but they left the piece underneath that was attached to the couplet. I sent a picture to the Better Business Bureau. I told them they could look at it and tell that AHS didn't fix it right because it's all new parts here attached to a corroded piece. It went back and forth for a while to the point where it finally went out-out and I had to get a new hot water heater. And AHS only paid for a portion of the hot water heater itself. They wouldn't pay for the installation, which was more than the hot water heater itself. AHS used to be good and they’re better than others that I've had, but they've gotten a lot worse than what they used to cover. Sometimes I have to go into battle with them to cover things that are really simple.

Our washing machine broke and the claims process was incredible. Everything was fast. The people I dealt with from the company that came out were very courteous. I just paid the $100 fee when they came out to see what the problem was and American Home Shield covered my whole fee. The contractor was unable to replace the part because the machine is so old and a new washer was sent out. It was the one that I picked out. I was told it would be delivered on August 8th but it was delivered today. The service I just had today and in this past week was excellent. AHS is a comfort. It's a crutch or shield in case something goes wrong in the house because you have that coverage.

American Home Shield has been very good up until the last couple of years but nearly everything that we turn in to have repaired, they don't cover. And what they charge is way more than it is. If we put the money in the bank, then we'll have enough to pay for anything without having to use them. AHS used to pay for things but now, they don’t.
AHS can't even pay for a faucet in the Mesquite house. The faucet's been broken and they won't do anything about it because they don't wanna mess with it. At 80-something dollars a month, they can't even repair a faucet or install a new faucet even if I bought it. I'm 81 years old, and it's very difficult for me to get under there and replace the faucet. Airstar Services, the contractor, did a good job with the AC at Oxford Place, which is where my sister, Norma, lives. The guy came out and replaced the capacitor. He said the is a good one and it shouldn't have any more problems. But since then, we have filed for a refrigerator repair over at Oxford Place.

American Home Shield doesn't use reputable companies as far as I'm concerned. I have yet to call a contractor who answers the phone. They do not answer the phone at all. I told them American Home Shield about that. I had a claim when m refrigerator was making noise and they sent someone out. Those guys did not even touch my refrigerator. They just said it's not under warranty. I told them to leave. I called AHS back and told them the techs didn't do anything. They were gonna set up somebody else to come out and charge me another 100 bucks. I told them to forget it. That's the bad part. The good part is I called about my refrigerator again. They called a General Electric technician. Somebody that knows what they're doing. He came out and he hooked up an iPad to the refrigerator and updated it. It fixed everything. I also had a claim for a doorbell that needed repair and they fixed that real easy. That was good.

The coil froze and Reliable, the contractor, couldn't do anything until it thawed out. An hour after they left, it thawed out, which was no big deal. They came back the next day and took care of the problem and I haven't had an issue with the AC. I've dealt with Reliable for several issues and they're good people. I enjoy dealing with them. I just wish they weren't 45 miles away. The experience with American Home Shield was decent. They get ahold of whoever they need to fix whatever needs to be fixed and do it right away. It's just waiting on the contractor to get in touch with me after that. AHS gets to the issue quickly and makes sure to let me know they’ve reached out to the people.
I hate AHS’ automated system. A basic thing, like "Pay bill". I have to repeat it seven times before it clicks to it. And I'm on the phone with a computer for 10 minutes trying to make my payment. So, I avoid that as much as possible. It takes you five minutes to tell it you wanna talk to a representative and it goes through the spiel again. I want a representative. So the automated system needs to be updated. Better yet, just get rid of it and let a human being answer the phone so I can talk directly to them and not play games with a machine.

I'm in the middle of a claim to American Home Shield. It's a little frustrating. They haven't been able to find the issue. They've had different technicians come see the problem and then give a different diagnosis. So, it's still not being repaired. The claim was for a condensation leak on the AC. They initially sent out an AC technician to do a check. So, he checked it and said that the air con was working normally and the problem was the ductwork insulation. So, they then rescheduled to have another technician to come down. Yesterday, he went to the home. My tenants were there. He didn't do anything. He did not view it or make any repairs. So, now we're just waiting for his diagnosis.
I contacted American Shield, and they said they can't do anything until they view that diagnosis report. I just want the repair to be done correctly so we minimize the inconvenience to the tenants. Because of the leak, there's water leaking from the ceiling. So, I'm a little concerned that it might be flooding. It's been about a week already.

Recently, the motor on the fan on the heat pump was very loud because the bearing was out on it. I submitted a claim online to say that there was an issue with the heat pump. Several days later, a local person followed up with a phone call. They scheduled a time, talked about the problem, showed up with the part, and fixed the motor. One time, the range went out and the resolution was AHS did a cash-out. We used American Home Shield as well when we had an issue with our dryer and that took about two months. A part was on backorder. That was the hard part. They had no idea when that part was going to become available. Even if parts are on back order for a year, you wait for the part. A lot of places have 90 days. If the part is not available within 90 days, they will do a replacement. American Home Shield does not. That was one down and I was not happy with that. That aside, when you have a home warranty, you just go to one place. They determine who to use and it's easier.

There are some companies American Home Shield sent out that were not as good as the others. But we can't have the same ones all the time. It's just whoever's available. There's one full service that they usually always send. And I don't care much for them because they take my equipment, and they never return it. But they're the only ones they send out. And they always overbid until I get a second opinion. They're not honest. They never answer the phone. I have to buy new equipment. And when my pump went out to the pool, they gave an outrageous estimate.
I called the second one. AHS sent another one. Out of 1,800, the guy only charged me $100. I have to call AHS and I would be online forever, just trying to get to speak to someone, for AHS to send me someone. That's frustrating because the hold is long. And to request it online, they wouldn't give me that option. I have to call them. The only way it's fast is if there's a dispatch number. If they press that option that’s for dispatch, it's a lot faster. I have to plug in my phone because it would take a long time. Sometimes I can't go on the website. It just says it's not working or it's not in service. Or a lot of times, it's not good at all.
Even with the roof, I had a guy come over and repair the air conditioning. It had just rained. And I told him to be careful, it might be slippery. But he was a very, very large man. He made a hole in my roof just his weight. And AHS would not repair it so I had to get another contractor to come out and repair my house. He shouldn't have been on the roof in the first place. But other than stuff like that, I gotta watch, "Oh, they're sending that person again". It's like anything. I just gotta watch who comes to my home.
Other than that, I'm pleased with AHS. They're really fast when it comes to getting people to go out there. It goes clear. Submitting a claim goes fast if I do it online. But if I ever have to call to request service, the only downfall is that sometimes, I can't understand what whoever I'm speaking to is telling me. It's a strong accent.
Recently, the tank wouldn't fill because there was no water coming out. There was no water pressure. And it was because there was sand or something in the line. I guess it was due to my well. A lot of times it kicks sand into the water lines. And the contractor had to clear that. So, they knew exactly what was wrong. And the fan, they just fixed it. It was easy and fast.
The price has gone up. And my deductible is high compared to what it used to be. I didn't even expect that I have to pay when I schedule a service. So when I saw 125, "Really, when did that happen?" It used to be 75. And then when the 75 hit, for the other homes, it used to be 55. But I've had lots of good things replaced in my home that would have cost a lot of money otherwise.

Now, what I do is that as soon as they give me the name of who they assigned, I quickly, while I still have them on the phone, review to see that they have good reviews. I have declined and denied a referral. When I have noticed that they have 1 or 2 stars, I will tell AHS, “Please find me someone else. American Home Shield's service is good overall but there are things that they can improve. You can use a website to file a claim and that process is very smooth. However, they hand over the subsequent repairs to some local repair technicians and it's hard to get hold of them. There's only one way to talk to them and that is by calling them. And when you call them, they don't pick up. When you leave a message, they respond sometimes. Many times, based on my experience, they don't. You're at the mercy of them calling you. If American Home Shield can take care of that one issue, that can fix a lot of other things. The price is a little bit high too. That aside, the purchasing and getting the claims open are good. Their customer service when I call them is very attentive. I'm satisfied at the moment.

I have two properties with American Home Shield. They're good and my experience is great. It's very easy to request service on their website. The price of our service is great. So, I'm a lifelong fan. They're a great company to do business with. I had a plumbing claim with them. There's a shower valve that they had to open up the wall to replace the whole component. So, it wasn't as easy as unplugging the showerhead and looking if there were any debris in there. The wall had to be opened up. Then they sent whoever they hired out to do the replacement. I also had a fridge in the garage that went out. They couldn't fix the deal, so they bought me a brand-new one. I just had to pay the difference. They gave me this website where they said, “Look. We’re gonna only allow maybe like $1,500.” It's a garage fridge. So, I was like, “Better than the $100 price I had in there before.”
Having AHS as my warranty is like getting into a car accident but playing bumper cars out there, and the insurance premiums don't go up and they're fine with it. It was like, “Okay. Well, let us know what's your next claim.” I’m like, “All right. I'll find it and I'll send it to you.” That's the neat thing. It's like having insurance on a car, but for your home where more things are gonna break. They've only made maybe $1,200 off of me in those two years as far as premium. They're upside down with me as far as I'm the bumper car guy that the premiums don't go up on. They keep repairing it. I'm not intentionally breaking this stuff. It's wear and tear. The AC was the latest thing that I had with them. The unit was backed up. So, instead of me being the diligent homeowner and flushing out the AC lines, I sent in a request. They had someone out here the next day. The person flushed up the line and it was back to being new.

When submitting claims online, it is easy in some ways. Some of the flaws that I find is that the consumer doesn't have a choice of the vendor. If you call the American Home Shield number, you can talk about that with the rep but if you do it online, you just get what you get. Some of the contractors that American Home Shield sends are phenomenal. When they were smaller and US-based, they were extremely consistent with the quality of contractors and many of the contractors still meet that criteria. When you get good ones, they're really good -- careful, honest, and willing to back up their work. If there's a problem, they come back right out again and it makes you feel very safe to have them in the house.
However, over the last three years, the quality of contractors has been very widely variable. Last summer, we had a terrible issue. Our HVAC system broke and we had an HVAC company come out. They determined that a compressor needed to be replaced. Everything was pretty normal and standard and they replaced the compressor. But we had a certain type of refrigerant that was an older type and when the guy put the new compressor in, he had to evacuate some of the refrigerant. He didn't evacuate all of it because it wasn't a full system decompress and he put back in a newer refrigerant that messed things up. The older type and newer type don't work well together.
We didn't know this and it was a series of figuring it out with repeated callbacks. When everything is working with American Home Shield, everything is great. But when there's an issue and the contractor is saying one thing and doing another and you're not getting a response, the call center keeps you in a hold loop and they're trying to give the contractor the benefit of the doubt. They're trying to do their very best but they can't communicate with anyone or at least they say they cannot communicate with anyone stateside. I was stuck in this eternal loop of trying to get an escalated problem resolved.
Finally, I got some resolution after doggedly trying to get to the main office. I got some gal who gave me some recompense for what was broken but it wasn't certainly what I had thought all of my premiums had been paying. We had people say we would be spending way more money than what makes sense to fix a 20-year-old system. At that point, I felt like I did not have the power to make the right fiscal decision but I decided that I would do the smart financial thing, which is just replace the system.
In the last three years, it really felt like American Home Shield was taking shortcuts, especially when it came to the vendors they were sending out. It felt like I was fighting the integrity of the vendors and I had no way to talk to American Home Shield about it. I would just get some call center with someone who I maybe could understand but there was such a disconnect. I didn't feel like I had a place to really be heard.

The management facility that managed the house that we were renting had American Home Shield and whenever American Home Shield sent out technicians for whatever we needed to be fixed, they were always knowledgeable, kind, and courteous. Now for our house, we went to American Home Shield to purchase the policy because we already knew the kind of service we could expect. It had good coverage on everything that I wanted. They explained there was a 30-day wait after you paid for the policy. You're allowed to cancel it for 30 days. The whole process for getting the contracts was very smooth, clearly explained, and straightforward.
We put in a claim to rekey the house and American Home Shield sent a guy. He rekeyed it and everything's great. In both cases, for the rental property that somebody else was paying them for, and for here so far, they're spot on. I have used their online interface to request for service and it was pretty easy to do and very intuitive. The response was very rapid. When I typed in the request online and hit enter, I had a phone call from somebody within 10 or 15 minutes to schedule my requested service. You couldn't ask for better than that.

My water heater exploded. The hot water got underneath our flooring and made a big mess. I did a claim online and then I got an email back saying somebody would be in contact. Someone came out pretty quickly. They were really nice, very polite and professional. As soon as they saw it, they knew straightaway it needed a new heater. They were super-efficient and they contacted American Home Shield. The job was done very quickly and I'm very happy.
We've been American Home Shield for at least nine years. I purchased the house and it came with the home warranty. At that time, it was the right thing to do as there were some appliances we thought were gonna probably give up. I have peace of mind with the warranty. Six years ago, we had a problem with our air conditioner. It was 100 plus degrees and the unit kept on icing up. A guy came out and he was nice, but he was a little bit not as professional as he could have been. He was just a little bit off when I asked some questions. It wasn't a big deal. He fixed the problem. He said he was coming back because the unit needed parts and that took a little while.
The unit went down again at the beginning of this year and the same guy came back. He was totally different and was absolutely professional, super quick, and got the job done. He has a totally different attitude. The unit was up and running within about two days. I got a new quote from American Home Shield and the cost recently went up. It's just I got an email asking to give me a free quote to be able to get American Home Shield and it was odd, the fact that I was already with them.

The dryer and the dishwasher were messed up and the ice maker on the fridge wasn't working properly. Because all of those fell in the appliance category, we only had to pay American Home Shield a one-time fee of $125. A contractor came out and addressed all three in one visit. They fixed the dryer. The appliance repair guy said that the dishwasher was unfixable, so they replaced the dishwasher. They gave us a list of options. We googled each option and didn't like any of them. One of the other options was a $795 Lowe's gift card. I found an LG stainless steel tub, three rack dishwasher. It was $1,000. I found it on an old ad on sale at Sam's Club for $595, and Lowe's price matched it. That left us almost $200 left over on the Lowe's gift card which we used to buy a new garbage disposal. For $125, we got a new dishwasher, the dryer fixed, and a garbage disposal.
Shortly after that, the AC went out on the third floor. We called in that work order and had to pay another $125. A week and a half later, the main level AC went out. We had to pay another $125 for it. A contractor came out and replaced the suppressor and capacitor on the main level AC. They ordered a new outdoor unit for the upstairs AC then the guys came out to put it in. When they put it in, it still wasn't working, so they diagnosed that the indoor unit evaporator core was bad. Now, American Home Shield is gonna replace the indoor unit as well. Without American Home Shield, we probably would have paid out around $12,000 worth of repairs since July 4th. Instead, it's just cost us $375.
On the top level AC, I was a little disappointed. I do construction for a living, and I know that if you install a new AC unit outside, it's gonna be 410A, which is the new refrigerant that they use since they got rid of R22. My unit's R22. I didn't assume that the outdoor unit wasn't gonna work with the indoor unit. I thought that if it worked, it would be problems in the future. But when the AC guy came out to hook it up, he did the outdoor unit. They tried to run it and it wasn't working properly. He came in and told me that the evaporator coil on the indoor unit was blown and that he would send it into American Home Shield. That alleviated my worries about the future. Both contractors gave very detailed explanations of what they were doing and why they were doing it. They called before they came, let me know status updates when my parts came in and when my parts were ordered.
The only thing that was frustrating was the separation of powers at American Home Shield. I was getting impatient and trying to reach out directly to American Home Shield to find out what was going on. When you call and ask for an update, they're just reading off a computer screen. You can't get any answers unless you speak with the claims department. But when you call the claims department, you never get an answer. They want you to leave a message and they'll call you back. I left a message, but they didn't call back. The right way to handle it is to go through the service provider.
I called B&L Heating & Air a few times, but they were waiting on approval from American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield, and they were telling me that they were waiting on something from the contractor. It stalled it out for a week. But we got it squared away. I called the secretary with B&L and explained to her everything that was going on. She put me on hold, called the claims department, spoke with them, got it approved, and everything moved along from there.
The contract only lasts for a year then they renew it. I didn't even see the contract renewal email until a week ago. They charged our card, and it was more than what we usually pay. I called in and spoke with the rep, and they said my contract renewed on August 10th. I went and checked the email, and that's where it said my rates would go up and that my coverages were different. That was frustrating. But the new coverage covers the well pump, which the last coverage didn't. I'll use American Home Shield for the rest of my life.

We have had American Home Shield for a number of years in California and have had to use them a couple of times and was very pleased with the services and service providers they used. We even provided one year of service to the buyers of our home when we moved. When we purchased our home here we also purchased a home warranty which we recently had to use for our HVAC. So far the experience has been terrible, They wanted the deductible before their preferred service provider even showed up. Then when the provided did show up all they really did was tell me my unit was ** and try to sell me a new one. By the way I have a 5 year old Carrier unit rated in the top 5 best to have.
He then proceeded to tell me that he knew what was wrong, and that he would submit it for authorization to fix, however they most likely will not cover it. I asked him if he could add refrigerant, as he said my system was low, and he stated "No, they do not cover enough for us to do this". We then called AHS customer service to see what was going on and was told it could take 23-48 "business hours" to make a decision. Unacceptable. In the meantime I have had to call in another HVAC company to get my system back up and running. 95 + degree days and they want us to wait for them to make a decision that could take them up to 6 business days. Disappointed and let down 08-01-2023.

When I turned on my air conditioner, the fan would go on, then 10 minutes later, the air conditioner would go on. American Home Shield sent somebody out to look at it, and they changed a part, but it didn't fix the problem. They had to come out again, and now they said that I need a new compressor. My air conditioner is very loud. I ordered a compressor, and the techs are supposed to come out as soon as they get the compressor in. The mechanic told me that the noise should be considerably less by putting that in, and from when I turn the air conditioner, I should have no delay on it turning on before the fan goes on first. They were good and courteous, and they went through all the steps.
I really wanted a new air conditioner, but the mechanic said the one I have is of good quality. It's very old, but he said, “But it's a better quality than the one they have now. If you get this new compressor, it'll last you quite a bit longer.” To replace the new air conditioner and heater, it's 10 to 12 grand and I don't want to pay that. I'd rather spend a thousand. I had to pay for the Freon because that's not included. American Home Shield does not pay for Freon, which I'm not too happy with. Old Republic pays for Freon, and I like them better. Now, I have another work order in with AHS because I have a leak under my sink. I put that in yesterday. I might call the plumbing company today. I haven't heard from them yet.
Thanks for sharing your AHS experience. Please let us know if you need assistance in regards to your warranty.

He said they were playing games with him and that he was not going to be using AHS anymore. Other than that, it took him two to three days to come out after I called AHS to file my claim, and since the repair, the AC has been working good. It turned out that a fan motor broke down. So, I called Home Shield and they sent out a technician. He came out and checked it all out and worked on the burners. But he couldn't fix it. So, he ordered parts. When I got the parts, a different technician did all the parts and checked everything. I was really impressed with him. But he still couldn't fix that burner. So, he called the company for me and also American Shield and told them what he found. After that, they popped up on my email and everything was taken care of. I was blown away. Sometimes the person that answers in American Home Shield may have a little bit of a language issue with me. I don't always understand them right away. But as the conversation goes on a little, I get more clarity with it. They'll send me the name of the company that is going to respond to the request. When the company notifies me, then we set up the appointment and they come. I've called and asked if I could have someone check the electric range.
When the tech came out, he said it was not even repairable. I told him that I was concerned because it was heating so hot. If I would have tried to do the self-cleaning, I might have even had a fire. So they've ordered me a new stove. American Home Shield sent me several pages of several kinds of ranges. After a filter of certain ones, I picked and sent that in yesterday. I've had electrical issues, plumbing issues, gas issues, and air conditioning issues. The technicians were all locals and they seem very, very nice and knowledgeable. So I'm pleased.

In February, we contacted American Home Shield due to a malfunction in our Samsung refrigerator. Technician "X" from Astro Appliances made repairs, but the problem recurred after three months, resulting in a worsened condition and a broken ice maker due to the technician's alterations. We filed another service request, and Technician "Y" from Astro Appliances claimed the issue was due to Energy Saver mode, even though the problem persisted in normal mode. The technician didn't put in effort to fix the fridge and advised us to defrost it for 48 hours. Within 35 days, the refrigerator broke down again, and despite assurances from the technician, both AHS and Astro denied responsibility and disagreed about the recall period.
We are deeply unsatisfied with their inconsistent revisit periods, incorrect diagnosis, lack of resolution, and potential fraudulent practices, as well as their unhelpful customer service responses. We demand a fair resolution, including a full investigation into the matter, acknowledgment of their mistakes, and a fix to our refrigerator, as we feel deceived and deserve better treatment from both American Home Shield and Astro Appliances. How are we supposed to live without a properly working fridge for this long?

I have utilized American Home Shield for over 20 years. We had a really big home and it was big and beautiful. However, sometimes the appliances are very expensive. We had a refrigerator that was crazy, we had a range that was crazy, and we had a heater for a pool that was crazy. It took a little while, but the refrigerator was very expensive to repair and they repaired it. The stove had something simple, but nobody could ever figure it out. Finally, somebody figured it out and that was because of American Home Shield and they replaced eventually the heater on the pool.
There have been times when some of the vendors have been less than credible. One of our heat pumps wasn't working. I reached out to American Home Shield and they assigned a company who came relatively quickly. What I was expecting, because this is what I've gotten before, is somebody comes in and goes and looks at it and the next thing they say is, "It's gonna cost you another $250 to $500 to do it." That's what has happened to me most often in the past on air conditioners.
That is not what happened to me recently. The guy came in and I showed him where everything was. He had it diagnosed in eight minutes. He told me what was needed. He went to his truck and he got it, a little piece, put it in, and he was out of here in under 45 minutes. I was expecting him to say, "Now you have to pay for the Freon and you have to pay for this and that." All I could determine from that one instance is that maybe there are some better vendors because this guy was top-notch. A lot of times with air conditioners, if the homeowner watches, they can fix it. It might be the clogged water pipe. If you just unclog it, it works and you don't need to pay $125 to have somebody come in and do that.
In this scenario, that was what I thought it was. I was watching, but it wasn't. It was an actual part that was broken. When I asked him, "Did I do something to break the part?" He said, "No, this part is notorious for breaking during the hottest days in the summer." All I did was smile, "I got it." This guy was great. However, AHS was hard to get ahold of, and then I had to wait. But if I do it online, sometimes it seems like they've cleaned up their online approach. It's more organized now than it was.
It's important for people to consider AHS. I had a refrigerator upstairs. An expensive one, but it's a little one and the top is the refrigerator and the bottom is an ice maker and freezer. Instead of calling American Home Shield, I called the manufacturer who sent somebody out here and it cost me $275. All that was wrong with it was one of the tubes was clogged with ice and that was all he did. I didn't know that I was gonna be charged because it was relatively new. I didn't know I was gonna be charged more than the visit when he didn't even have to replace anything. I owned American Home Shield at the time. I didn't use it because I figured, "What the hell?" But that won't happen again. I'll just call American Home Shield. Instead of 275, it would have cost me 125.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

American Home Shield was truer to what they were. You get what you pay for. I could’ve got a company where my copay would have been $50 as opposed to $100, but it turned out they wouldn't be as true as American Home Shield. The website has every category for plumbing, electronics, or for heat and AC. It's all the right questions. You go and hit that copay button. And somebody would either call, email or text you right away. AHS has good vendors. There are some vendors who are not quite as good, but they eventually will get it right. I had one vendor trying to look on my AC, came out here four times over the course of a year and a half. We finally changed vendors. And the guy had fixed it within a half hour. So, AHS works with me to get things right. They do a great job.
Usually when I have something wrong, in this house, I got a $75 copay. It started $45 way back years ago in my house. I have two houses. My house in Greensboro, I pay $100 copay over there. I had an AC unit that was problematic. The furnace was very good. But the AC unit was back from 2001. And recently, it went out. The guy who went out said, “You need a capacitor. And the capacitor will probably cost you about 2,000. Maybe when you add the Freon to it, it might cost you $2,000 because you gotta add Freon. And that’ll keep you going. And then a new capacitor will cost you another $1,500. And so, that's about $2,000 out of pocket. So, they probably gonna try to talk you into buying a whole new unit, which might cost about $10,000." I said, “I'm not doing that. I'm not interested at all doing that.” So, they contacted me later. He said, “You may be able to get something done for $5,000.”
AHS was able to work it out with the contractor. It would have been a bit more. We got it down. The initial quote was $3,000. And we got it down to $2,600. So, I got a new air conditioning unit loaded with freon which will last me now. It has a good warranty on it. And this thing would probably have a lifetime span of 15 years. Also, the contractor had to do some zoning work. They had to replace the concrete slab. So, to get a new AC unit in a day of the summer where I'm out of pocket just $2,600, plus my initial $100 copay, $2,700 out of pocket, that's great.
AHS would try to pay less as possible and repair until the vendors couldn't repair anymore. When you pay $100, they don't wanna do it so much. But my AC, I understand that years ago, $100, they had to replace the whole AC. I understand that in today's economy, you can't pay $100 and they replace your whole AC. You gotta meet them part of the way. When something is old like a 2001 AC unit, it has to be replaced. You can't fix that. That's fair. And they're very responsive. They have been good for me overall.

I called American Home Shield on a Tuesday and the guy came out on Monday. We knew where our washer leaked from and we did a video call with the tech. He knew exactly what was wrong as soon as we showed him where it was leaking from. The bad thing is he came out and put a part on, but here it was a defective part. So, we had to wait for him to order it again and he came out the following Monday.

Anytime contractors came out, they patched the problem to where it worked. They don't fix it. Everything that I've called in, the refrigerator, washing machine, and dishwasher were all just patched, and I ended up having to replace every one of them out of my pocket. So, I paid American Home Shield $100 to patch. My air conditioning and heating went out, and AHS has patched it three times. It went out, and to fix it, they said it would be about $3,000. I said, "Never mind. I'd rather do the cash-out option to see what I can get for it, because I'm replacing it." Which I have, and it was way over that.
And they wanted to patch my heater as well. The two gentlemen that were there both said that it was burned out from the flame. It had a hole in it, could have caught my house on fire. They wouldn't fix it. They said I had to wait until I turn my heater on. But no. Because it's propane. I couldn't get them AHS to even send anybody out, so they had me two weeks without no air condition in 105 temperature. They said they couldn't find anybody. And they never called me. It just kept on going on and on. Finally, they said, "Go ahead and get somebody to come out." I did. But AHS said, "Oh, no, we're not paying that. We're gonna have somebody come out and fix it."
Another week and a half went by, somebody came out and looked at it. He said, "I can patch it, but it's not gonna help you with your heater, so you have to call them again, pay another $100, and then I can try to patch it." And I'm like, "No, just forget it. I'm not doing that." I'm not gonna have my house catch on fire by patching it.
Freon was came out constantly on the outside unit, and they kept just filling it. They weren't fixing it. They came out twice and never fixed the leak. When the whole thing went out, AHS got ahold of somebody to come put one in. And once they put it in, it has been working fine. And they come out to do repairs. They made an offer of $800, which is fine with me. But the problem with that is they said I had to show them a paid invoice. I've got 18 months to pay that, and I could use that $800 to put down so I don't have so much to pay. Because it came out to $12,000 to fix the whole unit.
It used to be that on the small things like the refrigerator, they would come out and I would pay the $100 and all that. But two weeks, we're in Texas, and I we haven't seen under 105 in weeks. So, I had two little window units I had to purchase because I couldn't live there. I gotta have something, but AHS would not help me. I got all these permits, but then I showed them how much I put down, they said they still couldn't help me until I paid the full amount.

I've used American Home Shield for 10 years when I was in California and in the last two years, I've owned a home in Texas. I live in a small town in a rural area and it's about 13 miles to town and I've gotten decent service out here. AHS has been responsive. When something isn't covered, because it does happen, I've always been able to work out with a contractor from them to fix it or to get it replaced. But whenever I've had them out, I've had no issues. I work with people who've had nothing but bad luck with them. But I've not. 90% of the time, I've had good service from them.
I had a huge septic tank issue down here in Texas. The people who owned the home never pulled a permit and they did the septic system themselves and messed it up. It was broken and American Home Shield didn't cover it because it wasn't the septic tank or the pump. It was the leach field and they don't cover it. But through them, I got a competent contractor. He was out here and got permits filed with Parker County. It was done in three days and that's good for a septic tank system. I had some issues with my roof and all the screws had to be replaced. Even though AHS didn't cover the metal roof, they got me set up with a good roofing company.
In California, my automatic garage door broke and AHS couldn't cover the spring on it. But it was fine. I had some air conditioning issues as well as plumbing issues and they covered those. There were a couple of things over the years where the techs came out. I also had an issue with my washing machine and AHS covered that.
I make my payments through the website and get copies of my contracts. I've never had any issues with it trying to figure out what's going on. The price is a little high although my coverage also includes a 743-square-foot apartment that my son built and a garage. They cover everything in that apartment as well. Mine probably is more expensive than the average person's because I have a well and a septic tank that throws extra money into it. It was about $90 a month and that ended up being about another $45 a month. And I have a $100 deductible, which is one of the lower deductibles. So at the end of the day, it evens out.

The washer and dryer is over 40 years old and American Home Shield chose to put some more pipes on it instead of replacing it. Chris, the tech, was great. He said it will be a sad day when my washer and dryer goes all the way out. We’ve been with AHS since before we even moved into this house and it'd be 29 years in December and the customer service is very poor. The price has gone up and they cover less. They always got a reason why you gotta pay for it. They need to go back to the way that they worked when they were covering and replacing things when they break down instead of finding loopholes as to why you have to pay for it. It’s that bad that I've called the Better Business Bureau twice. And I haven't found another company yet but I'm looking.
When we first got AHS, the lady that sold us this house started us with American Home Shield because it has only been one family in this house and she knew that things were gonna eventually need to be fixed. I had electrical problems and like plumbing, it is either covered or it’s not. AHS said it's covered but they always got a but. We need some new VI switches and they said we would have to pay for it, which was about $1,250.

The dryer stopped working and American Home Shield sent the mechanic to see what was wrong with it. He thought it was one thing and it wasn't that. But he found out what was broken. The contractor had to order parts twice and come back. The first time they came, it took two weeks to get the part. Once they got it, they called and set up an appointment a week later. They replaced the belt and the board on it. The person made a mistake fixing the wrong part but once they got the part right, they took care of it.

The technician informed me during his last visit that he would have to order more parts. I later received a call from AHS stating the repairs were no longer covered and I would have to pay out of pocket. What am I paying your company monthly for then??? I requested cancellation and was placed on a long hold all to be informed the department that handles cancellations were not available. I made several calls after this one to cancel and got the same thing. I was informed someone would contact me. No one contacted me. This is unacceptable. If a customer is not happy with your services and requests cancellation they should not be given the run around. Beware of this company. Do your research, I sure wish I did. The inner workings of a sink needed to be replaced. I reached out to American Home Shield by internet. Their website was easy to navigate. Comfort First came out, and they had to order parts. We've had no issues with it since but it's just one of those things. First, our water heater went out, so we upgraded to a tankless water heater. Then, we started having problems with showerheads and sinks and toilets, the whole nine yards, so they were out here quite a bit over a three-week span. The house is nine years old. The nice thing is all the faucets and everything are MOEN products. MOEN has a lifetime guarantee. So there were two that they would have had to order parts, but I already had the spares from MOEN, so they just used my parts and fixed the issue. AHS is a very valuable product to have in the event that things break around the house. It's nice to know that you've got that peace of mind where if something does, AHS is gonna take care of it.

It looked like it turned on and he left. Five minutes into the cycle after they had left, it was doing the exact same thing. So, we called back. We're still dealing with it. It's not fixed yet. They called and they are scheduled to come out tomorrow again. I did not enjoy this particular contractor for the dishwasher, but the other ones that have come out have been wonderful.
I tell people that I have American Home Shield and what I like about them. It's nice to be able to call someone, put in a claim, and then have someone contact us. So we said, "Let's go back to American Home Shield. At least we get decent service." Fortunately, they gave us a better price this time so we're happy. However, they used to respond immediately, and now it's within 48 hours. That's the only complaint I have about them. Our air conditioner claim was fine. We were very happy with the service, both with AHS and with the air conditioner people. Two guys came out the same day and they fixed it immediately. They replaced the capacitor. There had been problems in the past with other things but not the air conditioner.

A-US Air Conditioning of Texas did a good job too. We had a leak in the ceiling in my living room and there was water dripping. When the tech came in, he was very nice. He said there was condensation. He put some black tape in there around the pipe. He was touching the box and said, "I feel there was a little cold in here. I'm gonna put this black tape around to protect the cold air coming out of the box." I said, "Okay." So he put it on and he was checking on the pipe to make sure. He said, "If there is a problem, please call us back." Then we saw that the wall in the ceiling was dry. We don't have problems anymore.

I don't like paying 60-something dollars a month then having to pay a $100 fee every time techs come out. But their monthly fee is relatively low to cover the home the way they do. Also, the $100 fee is fine because you can lump all these issues that you have in your home altogether. AHS is fast and responsive. Problems are solved efficiently and they cover plenty, which has been significant for me.
It's annoying that they want a picture of the serial number when I submit a claim. That's more work for me. They want a video call for you to video the serial number. So, you cannot submit a claim away from home. But I understand that it's helpful information for them to obtain about the appliance before coming out. Recently, my washing machine was stopping during the cycle. I had clothes everywhere and I couldn't wash a complete load. That was annoying. The tech was an expert and it was incredible how he knows all about the appliances.

Our home warranty policy coverage started 6/2/23. Our A/C unit stopped cooling on 7/25/23. Opened a service request with American Home Shield on 7/26/23 and they dispatched contractor who completed visual inspection of the unit on 7/27/23. A/C tech left invoice stating the condenser coil was leaking Freon and replacement is necessary. Also noted "new policy?" On the invoice which I do not believe should be relevant to our service request. American Home Shield called 7/28/23 to tell me the replacement would not be covered because this was a pre-existing problem with the unit, which they do not cover.
We had our home inspected prior to closing in June, there were no problems with A/C detected, and had been working fine until 7/25/23. The contract states pre-existing issues are known by the owner or "reasonably detectable" prior to the start of coverage. There was no indication that the condenser coil to our unit had any issues prior to the start of coverage, nor could it be detected by us as the unit was functioning as designed until we became aware it was not cooling.
American Home Shield states they are only denying coverage based on the technician's report that this was a pre-existing issue. I don't believe the tech can determine the issue began nearly two months ago based on his "visual inspection". American Home Shield verified all parts of the A/C are covered with our plan, yet they're trying to get around replacing the covered part. We have been quoted between $5000-$6000 for replacement without the warranty. Currently our home is 90+ F during the day, and it is forecasted to reach over 100 F in our area for multiple days next week. All we want is for them to honor what they state in the contract.

The air conditioner wasn't cooling properly. Water was leaking from the second level to the kitchen ceiling below and we saw the wet spot, and then we knew something was wrong. I contacted American Home Shield by phone. They said someone would be calling me very shortly to set up an appointment to come to the home. They sure did. They committed themselves and came exactly like they said they would. The gentleman was cordial. I watched him put the gauges on and he saw what the problem was and he took care of it and I had no problem since. We're very pleased with the performance of the unit now.
I would highly recommend others to go to AHS and tell them that they were proficient and they didn't mess around. They told me exactly who's gonna call me, when they're gonna call me, and when to expect a call, and like clockwork, it was. The person that came to do the work advised me when they would be here and they would arrive within 30 minutes of the time they say they would be and I'm pleased with the work that they did. The only thing with AHS is the co-payment is a little high, but price is fair in comparison with others. Their website was easy to navigate, too.

The service with American Home Shield over the years has been up and down. We had our AC go out a couple of summers ago and it took a long time for a technician to come out and properly diagnose the issue. We had to come out of pocket to do it on our own because the vendor was backed up schedule-wise. It was the same thing with the dishwasher. When it went out, the options provided weren't comparable to what we had. They don't replace exactly like what you have which is a bummer. I ended up having to come out of pocket for that as well. Those were not great experiences. But when the garbage disposal went out, it was a quick fix. It was the same with the issue with the refrigerator.
American Home Shield could improve on having better quality vendors, making sure that they come out and fix it the first time. Recently, we've had the same vendor come out and work on our AC three times in the last few weeks. It would have been nice had they figured out the problem the first time instead of having to have them come back and reschedule. They said that it was the capacitor on the AC. But the issue happened again where it wasn't blowing cold air and we were smelling smoke. Then they were saying it was another capacitor on the furnace. We smelled smoke again. The third time, they came back and said they replaced another capacitor and moved something out of the way. It's just been capacitors this entire time.
American Home Shield is overpriced. The service rate has gone from $50 to $100. $75 is reasonable for a service fee. $100 is a bit much, especially if it's something minor where the part doesn't even cost that much. There's also been trouble trying to get them to have someone come out sooner. Getting reimbursement was a hassle as well. It's been challenging to get people on the phone that can be helpful when things don't go the way that they're supposed to.

The washing machine dial would not work where you could not select what type of wash you want. It just spun. Also, the ice maker was getting stuck when it tried to dump. So, it was producing very little ice. I called American Home Shield on the phone. I have a yearly prescription with them. They had somebody assigned within just a short period of time. Then they contacted me. All that went very quick and really easy. They've always done real well. I got an email from Home Shield that said what company had been assigned to it and if they would be contacting me. The tech from Hornet was great. Both parts had to be ordered, and it took about a week. Then they scheduled to come back. They replaced a part inside the ice machine that controls the dumping. Everything's working good.
Overall, I'm very satisfied. The last four times we've used AHS, the technicians have been great and went out of their way to help us. Having AHS, I do not have to shop around. Just one phone call, and they can line up professionals to be here. We have that assurance that if something happens, Home Shield is gonna stand behind it. I'd definitely refer them.

The technician troubleshot it and he had to order some parts. He was very cordial and professional but it was an inconvenience because they came out to look at things quickly then said they needed to order a part. That's how repairs work but sometimes it can be difficult, especially if I have to take off from work. The first time, it was a week to get the parts. But the icemaker was not acting the right way. It was freezing the ice in big chunks. They had to come back out. He replaced a couple other components that he had on the truck. But I have to call them back ‘cause the icemaker is still doing the same thing it's been doing.
I had American Home Shield for my first home. Within two months, my HVAC system went out. I called them up and paid the service fee. They couldn't repair the HVAC, so I got a brand new one. American Home Shield is worth the money because you never know when appliances are gonna go out.

Cloud 9 Pools was outstanding. I was having a problem with my pool pump that wouldn't come on. The other company said, "You need a new pump. It's gonna be $900." I said, "I can't do that. I'm gonna go ahead and go through American Home Shield." I put in a request about 4 o'clock in the afternoon. The next morning, American Home Shield sent me a message telling me Cloud 9 was gonna come and take care of it. They came the next day and said, "No, you don't need a new pump." There's a part on the pump which is the capacitor. The repairman went to his truck and said, "I don't have one, but I've got one in our storehouse. I'll go look for it." He went back to his office, called me and asked if he can come back out. He put it in, and it worked fine. I paid $125 to American Home Shield instead of 900 or more to my regular guy.
I was very impressed with the professionalism. The fellow who came out was the son of the owner. I said, "I'd like to switch to you guys to have you do the regular maintenance. I do every two weeks with the company I have now." He said, "My father likes to do it every week." I clean the pool twice a day so I don't need somebody to come out and clean it.
I was very impressed with American Home Shield taking care of the tech quickly. About two months ago, I put a request in. I had some ceiling lights, and two of them weren't working. I spent the next month and a half calling American Home Shield and talking to people overseas trying to get the issue resolved. They couldn't find an electrician here on Hilton Head or in the Savannah, Georgia area to do it. I finally said, "You can't do this. I want authorization to go ahead and find my own guy to do it." They finally did that. I still had difficulty finding somebody who was willing to come out and do it. I wound up fixing it myself. They've refunded the $125 that they had charged me but I was not pleased with that call. That was two months I wasted.
I've been with American Home Shield for 17 years. They used to not cover freon. You get a whole new system but it would cost you $900 in freon. Now, they cover it and that was when I came back to them. I was with another provider for a year and they were impossible to deal with. American Home Shield has replaced the whole air conditioning systems and everything else. My next-door neighbor just replaced the air conditioning system for $9,000. I said, "I had one done in my previous house five years ago and one done in this house. The one in the previous house was $75 it cost me and the one here was $125." I'm a booster for American Home Shield. But it's very difficult to go ahead when you have a customer service problem and you're talking to people who don't have a real command of the English language. Also, the online option for filing a claim could use a little more specificity in the options.

But several days ago, it did the same thing. I called them up, and they said, "We'll send somebody out. There is no charge."
American Home Shield sent a fella out yesterday and the air conditioning unit wasn't coming on. He found the problem which was an electric unit-type thing. He took it out and put a new one in. I was out there with him and he said, "There, it's running." It was running, but it wasn't cooling. When I went up in the bedroom again, it was still hot up there. It was 90 degrees. Early this morning it was 88 and the temperature was set for 74. Before that, they checked the freon and everything was okay then. Supposedly, the repairman's coming back to work on it today, but I don't want him all of a sudden to say, "I gotta put in 20 pounds of Freon."

What got me on American Home Shield in California was I had an air conditioner go out and they replaced it. That was something that was expensive. My other stuff since haven't been that expensive, but it’s cheaper than paying cash out of my pocket. The toilet was leaking from the tank, so I had to shut the water off and put a bucket into there until it was drained. I thought they would have to replace the toilet. So, the tech replaced the insides of it. And it’s fine now. They've also been out before to unplug a toilet.
However, I didn't like True Value in Cherryvale. I was pissed off because the tech doesn’t call right away in a reasonable amount of time. I called there. “Oh, he took the day off,” or “He left earlier.” That happened at least twice. And it's a plumbing problem with the toilet. And when they finally sent somebody out, they weren't an actual plumber. I asked, “Then why did you come?” The boss told them to. So, they couldn't fix it. They had to wait until the real plumber could get out. That was screwy.
Thanks again,

I had a dryer and washer combo unit that was producing a really loud metal-clicking sound. I called American Home Shield and they sent out four different companies. The last one was Guard Pro. Out of the four, three technicians said it was not repairable, but American Home Shield just kept sending more people for second opinion. After four people saying it was not repairable, they finally took the advice and then replaced the unit. The whole experience was dragged way too long because I started the claim in February and just got it fixed two weeks ago. I have an employee discount on Samsung's washer and dryer and I ended up purchasing a model that was way out of their offering price. So I just asked them to cut me a check with the reimbursement and then I ended up purchasing on my own.

American Home Shield has replaced every appliance here over the years. They’ve treated me very well. They put in a new HVAC system three years ago and about a month ago, it completely went out the night before July the 4th. AHS found a company nearby that was working on July the 4th. So, they came over and put in the right part. They knew exactly what it was. They said that any new system that goes out that quickly, it's gotta be the compressor switch made in China. The tech said all those switches go out in about three years. So, he replaced it with an American-made switch. He said it will last me 15 years. AHS did a good job on that.
In the past, I've had some problems with customer service getting ahold of someone and whether or not they spoke good English, and sometimes they just didn't cooperate. They would want to assign someone to me whose office was 200 miles from here and they wouldn't be able to come for a week. But AHS hasn't been that way recently. I've tried their website but I didn't like it because I couldn't provide specific information about problems or I wasn't getting feedback. So, I like to use the phone. I can get immediate feedback, and let them know what's going on if there are any special problems. If I’d gone online with the July the 4th thing, I don't know when I would have heard back. The price is a little high because AHS is gonna bump up the service call, which I don't like. My service fee has been $75 and it's either gonna go to 100 or 125. I'm not pleased with that.

My dishwasher wasn't working properly and there was something that needed to get replaced in it prior to the homeowner before me. It wasn't clicking over to drain, so the dishes would get clean, but then the water that was supposed to drain would stay in there. I thought something was weird about it, but it took a couple of days for me to contact the right people. But then I realized I have coverage for that, so I contacted AHS. Their claims process was easy. I described the issue to them and did a quick video chat. They looked and see what the issue was, then they sent a personnel out.
When they came out, they replaced one part, then they had to come back due to ordering of another piece that needed to get ordered. The contractor was cool and straightforward with me. He let me know if there was anything that I needed to do, or if I needed them to do more, he told me not to hesitate to contact them. But the biggest thing was pretty much on their promptness. Other than that, I like that I can call AHS and talk with somebody, as far as having to go through a lot of automated buttons. They're also a bit more price-friendly compared to my last home warranty. so far, I'm very pleased with them. Without a doubt, I wouldn't see myself going any place else.

The first time I called American Home Shield for the air conditioner, the Myers tech said the issue was some kind of line that was broken. He fixed it and the air started working. But about 10 days later, it got hot again. So he came back out there and said that the Freon was leaking from something. He said there was no way to fix it and that I needed a whole new system. Then American Home Shield called me and said that I need some kind of coil thing replaced. So that's what I'm waiting on them to do now. I'm also waiting on Myers to set up the appointment, but I hadn't heard anything yet.
The tech was knowledgeable in what he was saying. But I didn't like that when American Home Shield called me, they said a whole different thing. The tech told me that it couldn't be fixed, but then American Home Shield said it was something that can be fixed. I told the lady on the phone last night that I don't want to be paying all this money to fix something and then it ain't what it is and then something breaks again. She said that I have 30 days. But all in all, American Home Shield is worth getting. You have to pay a little something every month and if something goes wrong with your house, you pay that one fee and they try to take care of it. If they can't, you still won't pay the whole price of it.

Recently, we had a problem with our washing machine tub that has a connection underneath that goes to the main. The tech cleared up the line. Also, our ice maker quit working. The first time, Alfredo, the tech, put a new ice maker and tried to adjust the lever you push to get ice out. That wasn't connecting and also the piece he put in didn't work. We had to call him back and he came to fix it. The third time they came, the water line going to the ice maker was frozen. So, Alfredo cleared it up and he did great. AHS works well.

American Home Shield has covered most of everything that we needed to be covered. We bought a condo and it was built in 1983. We've had several problems such as the air conditioning unit. We've had a lot of repairs such as the water heater, garage doors, and refrigerator. American Home Shield has been pretty good about getting people out. After making a claim, they usually respond within a day or two. They've been timely. We had a leak in the wall and we had to have our wall taken out. The technicians that came out were good. They later came back and redid the wall. The only thing that is frustrating that I've gone through is that it's so often that things happen on the weekends and when they call to make appointments, you can't get anybody to come out on the weekend. A day or two has been the soonest. Some of them are three or four days down the road.

We thought that our oven wasn't working. The problem turned out to be the fuse to it. American Home Shield sent out someone else to do the repair. The claims process is fine, but I don't like paying upfront the $75 because I don't know if the company is gonna do the work. I've always felt that it was a little unreasonable. I don't wanna pay anyone for doing work until it's done. Nine times out of 10, I have to call the contractors and set an appointment. Half the time, they can't be bothered or they don't know when they can get out to do the work.
Overall, I like that all of my essential items in my home are covered by American Home Shield. I can make one call and someone comes out. I'm paying monthly for the service, but we've had some things where it's paid off. We’ve had a couple of things where we haven't had to pay anything. American Home Shield's website has improved immensely over time. I put in the request for the service online and I get a message telling me who was assigned for the service. And I get a call back from that service provider in a reasonable amount of time. AHS did an excellent job doing air an conditioning repair a month ago. The contractor came out on a timely manner, considering the hot weather, did the repair. There were no additional charges over the base fee of $100 that AHS charged. Sometimes, there were expenses that I incurred as a result of things that they don't cover. But they've always made that information available upfront. If I have a situation, I could get a repair done in a reasonable amount of time and for a reasonable amount of money. Because AHS has the deductible and that covers the expense. Considering the highly inflationary period we're in, it has gone up from 50 bucks a month to just shy of 100 bucks a month. But in today's market, that's reasonable because it covers a lot of stuff.

Everything is easier online. A lot of times, there are issues with the wait times on the customer service line. Also, the reps have to reverify who you are. We bought our house and the refrigerator went out one month later. AHS got a compressor and fixed it. Then, our sprinkler system blew a gasket and a month later, the pool pump went out. AHS fixed those as well. Recently, the garbage disposal stopped working. A day later, a tech messed with it for 10 minutes then replaced it. Trying to get services in a town is difficult because everybody's busy. It's easier to go through AHS because they get licensed contractors. Also, AHS gets a contractor much more quickly than if I call through Google ads. I had a guy drive up from West Palm and his drive was 55 minutes to get to my house. I have a 20-year-old AC unit. So, I'd rather pay $600 a year to a warranty than be on the hook for a $7,000 AC unit when it breaks inevitably. Delta T came out and they changed the inside unit. The outside unit has not been changed. We're very satisfied with Delta T. The claim submission process with American Home Shield is okay but it could be better as far as the assignment of the vendor. We got lucky with Delta T. They assigned a very good vendor. With the first vendor they had assigned, my wife called back and told them we didn't want them because the reviews on that vendor were awful. We've had that problem before. I've made claims before where they assigned a vendor that was 70 miles away from my house, and it's a small one-man shop.
They tend to deal with small one-man shops, which is fine. I wanna support local business, too, but I live in South Louisiana. It's July and when my air conditioner goes out, I don't wanna wait four days for somebody to come fix it because he's the only guy in his shop. The last claim I made with AHS was over a hot water heater. The guy they sent to me gave me a bad quote. It was fraudulent. He was quoting things that are not up to code and trying to upcharge me for them. Then if you did simple Google search, Google reviews, Better Business Bureau, there were multiple complaints about the same vendor for the same exact reason, trying to sell them things that weren't required, and trying to pass them off as being code even though they weren't.
When they do that, they lower the price they're charging American Home Shield, and they make it up by charging the customer because American Home Shield is not gonna pay for upgrades to your system that don't meet code, which is fine. That's not part of the warranty. I'm good with that. What this company does is they undercharge American Home Shield and add extra stuff on there that I'll be ought to pay for out of pocket, and that's how they make their money. I've run into a couple of them that do that. So, I don't find that American Home Shield always vet these people very well and look for feedback on them.
As far as the customer service, I get some people that are very easy to work with and I get some people that I just hang up and call back. As far as the coverage, they cover what's listed in the warranty. There are some things I prefer them to cover more, but at the same time, if you read the coverage before you buy it, they cover what's written on the paper and that's all you can ask for. So, I'm fine with that.

I had to have a new central air unit installed. Also, I was without my refrigerator for almost three weeks before my freezer got fixed. American Home Shield set up an appointment with a company that couldn't fix it, so they had to get another company. The company called to tell me they couldn't replace it, because AHS didn't call me and tell me the company couldn't replace it. So, I had to call AHS and let them know that that company said they didn't service this refrigerator. So, they had to deal with Sears to come and service the refrigerator, because it was a Kenmore. I had to wait even longer for Sears to have an available appointment time.
Recently, I had leakage from my kitchen sink, and the tub was stopped. AHS no longer covers the standing freezers. I have one of those. So, if I had an issue with that, I couldn't get that serviced anymore. An ideal plan situation would be where a customer can have their plan cater to their actual needs, as what's actually in their home. Because if you're saying garbage disposals, dishwashers and trash compactors, not everybody has those. Some things people don't have so they don't need that, but AHS covers it and pay for it. But something that people have, AHS no longer covers it anymore. However, new things are covered. So, part of the central air unit and installation was covered. The technicians were fine. If I didn't have AHS at the time, I would have had to pay for all of the central air.

I told him it was a new part, there was nothing wrong with it and I just put it in yesterday. He didn't say a word. During that time, I was gonna switch. We didn't recommend my son and his wife to get a home warranty with them. But AHS is a good company now, compared to when I first went with them. They’ve got quality companies that come out. It's completely different. Peterson Plumbing came out and replaced the garbage disposal. The tech was out there the day after I submitted the claim.

American Home Shield relies on local contractors to do the work for them. When I had a claim, the local electrical contractor had some kind of issue with their phone system and couldn't receive phone calls for a few days. So even though it's supposed to be a 24-hour turnaround on most jobs, it actually took over a week until they came out. They didn't have the right part on their truck, so I ended up buying the part myself after the guy showed me what was broke, and I fixed it myself. So that was kind of not so great.
I've had American Home Shield do a half dozen things for me, and it's always been great every other time. The technicians were competent, professional and friendly. With American Home Shield, I've got a good connection to someone who will show up pretty promptly. It can be tough to book contractors to do stuff, so it's nice to have that really quick turnaround. American Home Shield's website is very informative on what the different programs cover exactly. They have everything listed. So, I knew exactly what I was getting when I ordered. Also, it's affordable for most families. I questioned it for a while, because it is expensive, but not that bad. Our air conditioner was not working correctly. It kept popping switches. It was the first time I've used the website. And it worked the best. It was easy to navigate. I had to pick what was going on. Luckily for me, there was one. But it didn't give me the option to write something in, in the event I needed to for the particular issue, which would be nice to add. But I got an automated response right away that they received the request. And another update quickly as we lined up the supplier in the area. They contacted within 24 hours. I was concerned because at some point, they didn't have a vendor down here for AC, but AHS did.
The tech called beforehand, confirmed what was going on. And made a time that he could come by, which was quickly. Their office is near my place. He came when he said he would and did a great job. Very professional. It took four attempts. We kept doing a process of elimination. Because he couldn't get it to behave in the way that it had been behaving. We tried the most obvious thing first. He said, "Call me back if it doesn't work, if you have any other problems." So, we were able to call back. He told me to go through the website again. He came back out and he thought it was another thing. So, we tried that. The third attempt, we tried changing the switch. And the fourth attempt was a fix. From the start to finish, it was a 10-day window. But every time, he was on the job. He called me before he got there, saw if it still performed the same way. He had all the parts on his truck.
The last one was adding Freon, which was a special order Freon because it wasn't something readily available. Instead of draining it and changing everything out, the most cost-effective thing was to just top it off. We ended up getting two pounds of Freon, which stabilized the unit. The tech was prepared. He called us, and when we found out it was that product, they didn't have it in stock. It wasn't something anybody around here stocks, and it was a special order. So we would let it ride for a little while to see if the other repairs that he did finished it off. And he finished what he started.
The vendor called and said, "Hey, don't order that from anybody else. We can get it. I'm gonna call around our different locations and see if I can find something that's sitting on the shelf." Because we only needed two pounds. And it has to be ordered in a large quantity. It's $2,000 to get all of it, and nobody uses it. It's something that nobody uses anymore. So he was able to find something, and they brought it up to him. And he came over and fixed it, very good. Even on their premium plan, they only allow $10 per pound for Freon. And Freon normally runs $200 a pound. AHS needs to increase that amount that they cover. Because if I had to replace all of it, it would still have been $2,000 out-of-pocket.

When we got American Home Shield last year, it seemed like everything would be pretty much go with the flow, and everything was gonna be okay. When we have a problem, they're gonna come fix it. But when we had an electrical problem and the contractor came out, they said that it was wear and tear. But we still have the electrical problem, and that was not covered. So we had somebody else come out. American Home Shield never advised us that we have 30 days to get a second opinion or to get somebody else without having to pay a service fee. My electric problem was never fixed.
Two months ago, my water heater broke. They had us a whole month without hot water. They never gave me a call to let me know what the status was. I had to call every day in between my work hours to try to see what was going on. I had to boil water every day for me and my family of six for us to shower. Supposedly, the first contractor was not able to get it after a month. They found somebody else, and that guy got it done in three days. He kept me informed. I'm very satisfied with the second contractor, but I'm not satisfied with American Home Shield at all.
I asked American Home Shield if they could reimburse me the $75 for the first contractor that didn't do anything. But they said, "Nope." We also had to pay again for the second contractor. When I would ask for a supervisor so I could expedite the claim, I was told, "This is not a reason." But I have small kids and I have no hot water. It was an emergency. But they said, "No, it's not considered an emergency." Nobody called me after the second contractor fixed the issue. I was beyond overwhelmed.
We have our garage door that broke down right now. American Home Shield sent somebody, but they need to replace the pole, and that's not covered. That's $900 out of our pocket. Only the motor is covered. American Home Shield should be more informative with their customers. They should at least have somebody call them back. If I didn't call them, I wouldn't know anything.
Maria, we appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

AHS has been good. I don't have to search for a service provider because that’s done through them. The only issue that we had was it cost us as much to replace a water heater as it did the actual water heater. Part of it was the plan that we had. It's a combination of their monthly payment plan tier but AHS can make it a little bit more seamless as to when a claim is made for, especially an appliance that may have code changes, that that is a non-covered cost.
With the recent claim with the air conditioner, we had $1,800 of non-covered costs, and we took the cash payout, which was only $700. So, the total that American Home Shield covered for the replacement of that AC compressor was about a third of what the cost would have been if we had completed the work through them. The air conditioning unit’s compressor burned out and it took a week to get the contractor out. We weren't living in the home at the time we were putting it up for sale. That's good and bad, because we made a concession to the buyer instead of having the AC repaired because we weren't sure how long it would take for American Home Shield to ship the compressor to the service provider.

I've had two things that I've had to do with American Home Shield in all the time that I've owned it. I am pleased. One of the issues had to do with checking my air conditioning system that was supposed to be done in early spring. The company AHS assigned it to gave me a date when they were coming and cancelled three times. By the time we got to the third date, it was beyond the time when AHS would send one of their vendors to do the work. So they said to me, "We're going to give you $100 and you have to get your own company." So, I did. And it cost me more than $100. I had to get my system checked out because I would not turn on my air conditioning unless it was checked. So, I got this other company. They had been to my house before because they were pre-AHS. They did my preseason check in the past, and they're a very respected company.
They replaced the part and the part was good. But there was a wire that showed some signs that it had overheated. And the insulation on the outside of the wire was slightly melted. The guy said, "I would recommend you let us change the wire." So I said, "Okay," and I paid for it out of my own pocket. But AHS refused to reimburse me for it. I was pissed off because of the company that they hired to come out and do my preseason check. Anybody would have found that wire. It was obvious. I complained about it. The area manager would get back to me, but never did. I texted him at least three times. And he said, "I'm just busy. Give me a chance." But never did. So, I'm very disappointed in him.
I told AHS, "You will never send that company into my house." Because what they did to me was unconscionable and put me into a situation where I didn't know what to do other than pay out of my own pocket. And what the hell am I paying all this money for if I'm paying for stuff out of my own pocket? That's why I have the insurance policy. Especially since it was AHS's problem, not mine. But we went past that. They better have somebody ready for me for when it's time to switch over to heating.
My other experience with AHS is very recent. I was in my kitchen and found the floor right by the front of my kitchen sink was wet. So I opened the cabinet and there was all this water in the cabinet under my kitchen sink. I ran and got a mop, and cleaned all the water out. I couldn't figure where the water came from. So, I thought it was a plumbing issue that is covered by my platinum policy. So, I went on the website and I requested service. AHS sent out a plumbing company that incredible, up to my expectations of what AHS represents.
It turned out it was my garbage disposal, which was not that old. It had sprung a hole. That plumber had a new disposal in there. They get a lot of that because they carry them on their truck. And it had a nice warranty. He gave me the paperwork that went with it, which I have filled out and sent in to the company that manufactured it. That experience was 110%. Whereas the other experience, I would have rated as minus something. It was day and night. I hope that the price would not escalate, because I've had my first services done.

My dishwasher wasn't working. I called American Home Shield and they sent someone out. But trying to reach someone at American Home Shield was almost impossible and there was always a language barrier. The tech came out and said that the issue was due to roaches. So I called my exterminator and asked them what was going on because they came out on a routine basis. They said, “Your dishwasher absolutely did not break down because of that. You had this issue like two, three years ago. You have not had any issues since then.”
I called American Home Shield back and they said, “Oh, okay. Well, you just have the exterminator, the people that came out, send a list of all the times they’ve come to your house.” I asked them what was that going to do. They said that they would go ahead and send that information back to American Home Shield and I would get my dishwasher repaired and there would be no cost to me. So I did that.
I got the information from my exterminator and then I called the contractor and they said, “I don't know what you're talking about. We're not changing anything on our side.” So I called American Home Shield back and they said that I was never told that by the other representative. They asked me if I would like to have a second person come out. I said, “Well, you know what? Let me just make a phone call. I'll give you a call back tomorrow.” I called them back the next day but they said that my time had run out and I couldn't get a second opinion.
I had to make a million phone calls. I finally made my way up the chain where they said that I could have a second opinion. So the second person came out and took a look at it. They said the issue was due to insects. I explained the situation to them and then they changed the invoice so that it did not reflect it was by insects. But the next thing I knew, my claim was denied by American Home Shield saying it was caused by insects. But I told them that the invoice was changed where insects were not included. I went through the whole story about everything and now, it is still pending.
The last time I called American Home Shield was two days ago and they said that they needed to have it go through another chain for them to review it and then give me a call back. But they said their invoice shows it’s insects. I said, “Can you give me the invoice number? Because my invoice, which I can give you the number, has nothing to do with insects.” She said no. They don't have that information. So, as of July 25th, I have not received a phone call back. American Home Shield does everything that they can to not pay a claim. I'm still going back and forth. I'm not getting phone calls back. It has been absolutely horrible.
I also had a claim for my water heater. I needed to get it replaced. But American Home Shield told me that in order for them to repair it, it should be up to code. They said it was no longer up to code. But it was just up to code a year ago. What they were going to do cost more than getting the water heater replaced. So forget going to American Home Shield who I spend all this money every month for all these years. It's cheaper for me to go out of pocket and just call a local person, which was what I did.
Thank you for sharing your feedback Barbara. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

It was freezing in the bottom of the fridge and the tech fixed it. He was good. It was all taken care of. I’ve been with American Home Shield for about a year for convenience. It’s easy to schedule something and they send someone out.

The freezer stopped getting cold and the nicest part about the whole thing is just initiating the complaint and navigating the site. It’s easy to do. Right when you do it, they assign you a contractor and give you the number. And they even allow you to do a video call if you want to. But everything else is screwed up. I don't like the quality of contractors that American Home Shield has. I have literally just paid for it myself at times. There should be more of a quicker response time to their contractors. They take cash paying people first. So, when I called about my freezer being that it wasn't freezing, it took them three days to come and check it out. Then, it took four days for the part to come in and for them to come back and fix it. I bought another freezer in the meantime.
I received something one time that said if I renew, I would get a discount and I missed that. I had to call and complain about why they were giving new people this, that, and the other. I've been a customer for more than 10 years and my stuff is sky-high. They said I missed my renewal window. So I complained until they gave me a $75 credit. I’ve gotten to the point where I keep up with my emails now. But it's at the year's end and I knew because I just called with this last service to lessen my package because I don't use it that often. So, I wanna pay less. And I was told I could make no changes until this window in December.

Having American Home Shield is cost-effective. And they're not Johnny-on-the-spot, but it's better than not having a home warranty. It works for our purposes. My freezer wasn't cooling, and my one of my gas stove's burners wasn't igniting. AHS' service is better than what it was when I had them before. Their practices have improved. Between the call and the contractor, it was within seven days. For the stove, he said he couldn't fix it. It was major. And with the refrigerator, with the freezer not fully cooling, he said it needed a new compressor and I should hear back from them. Both those claims are pending. The contractors are smaller companies, but they're polite and competent.

American Home Shield's people are very friendly. If I called back, I had a question, as I did on the AC, they answered it. So, I've been very pleased with them. And when I place a call, it's $100. But that's only if I place a call for something. And I only call if there’s needed work, so I don't mind that. AHS gave me a range of items that I could cover, and I have the Gold package. That versatility really is what you want. And I have always been pleased with the contractors that they've had to come in. They have been honest and straightforward with me.
When I called in a repair on the washer, I told them what the issue was. And they said, “Okay. We'll have this technician of such and such a company call you.” That person called me, and I had to reiterate what my problem was. Maybe that's them wanting to make sure that they understand. But that was bothersome. At another time, the guy and I did a video, so he said, “Hold your phone, hold the camera so I can see this. Let me see that.” And he said, “This is something that I can't do.” I said, “You weren't doing anything. I was the one doing it.” So he said, “I'm gonna have to have a tech come there.” I said, “Very good. I think that's an excellent idea.” If it was my mother or somebody, she doesn't have a cellphone so she couldn't have done a camera review with them. That would put a lot of people off. That would be challenging for an older person. Those things are not tools that they should assume everyone has access to.
I had my air conditioning unit checked in the spring for summer, and it was determined that I was out of refrigerant and my coil needed replacing. I waited until I could place a call to say that I wanted to get that taken care of. AHS said okay and connected me with a service provider. They contacted me, and they sent another tech out, which was foolish. I thought he came to do the work, but he again just checked the unit and said, “Yes, you're out of refrigerant and you need a new coil.” The service provider called and said I would need to contact AHS and tell them that I was ready for the work to be done. I did that, and they said, “We'll schedule the appointment and have them call you and schedule an appointment,” which they did. From the service provider, there was a conglomerate of all kinds of things, because I told them, “Okay, it was time to come.” But they didn't come and they sent me an email, and I was preparing to go on vacation. I still told them to come. But they said they weren't able to because they had to get the refrigerant. So, nothing occurred while I was on vacation.
They called me and said, “We got everything set. We can come.” I said, “No, I'm not home. You can't come.” So they said, “Okay. Enjoy your vacation and we'll call you when you get back.” When I got back, I called because by the time, it was June 25th and it was hot. I had difficulty getting them to schedule because they said I was entitled to a discount. I didn't understand why.
I had to pay out of pocket. Initially, the provider told me how much it would cost, which they said would be 1,480. I went back to AHS and told them. They said, “That's for the refrigerant, because that's the price.” I said, “Yeah, I know, by the pound, depending on what the current status is.” I called the provider, “I'm ready for that.” And they said, “We can get you this discount.”
I read on the service provider and there were some bad reviews on them. He said, “No, you're entitled to a discount. And if you want, I'll send you paperwork.” So he sent the paperwork and I read over it, and it seemed sketchy to me. So, I called them back and said, “No, I wanna go with what you originally told me.” And they said, “Fine. If you wanna pay more money, we will let you. But I'm trying to say you can get this for less.” What they said was instead of just doing the items that were needed to be replaced, the coil and the refrigerant, they would upgrade my system to bring it to code. And I would have to pay for that because now the code has changed.
But when I called this lady to book all of this, I said, “You sure I'm gonna only have to pay now $800.” And she said, “Yes.” “Because I'm not gonna pay up any more if you say yes.” And she said “Yes. And if the charge goes up, they have to call you to get an approval to charge you more.” “All right, let's go ahead.” I finally got that resolved, which took two weeks. I sent them the $800. And the guy came. He did the work in no time. I signed the paper. He gave me a copy of it, and he said, “Thank you very much, ma'am.” It has been great since.
At one point, I thought my dishwasher wasn't working. The guy said, “You need such and such a part. I'll have to order that and come back once we get it.” Got the part in. He came back. He put the part in. It still wasn't working. So, I asked, “What is happening?” He got a stepladder and stood up on it so he could see the back of the washer. He said, “I'm sorry, ma'am. The plug is not in. It's not completely pushed in. That's why.” So, he pushed it in, turned it on, it started working. I said, “You've already put the new part in. It should last a little longer. Thank you.”

I'm very upset with American Home Shield right now. My heat pump went out and when I called them, I got a notification they were coming out for my sump pump. I had to call them back and say it was my heat pump. So, that took me another five days before somebody came out because they made a mistake. The tech came and put Freon in my heat pump. He said that's a Band-Aid for it. Me and my husband said okay. Right before I went on vacation, it went out again. American Home Shield texted me and asked if I would rate this company on how they fixed our heat pump the other day and I said I don't even know if they fixed it because I'm not at home. When I got home, it was running. But two days later, it was not working.
I've been home since the 15th. The techs were supposed to come out yesterday and the guy told me he's having trouble getting the parts. They were gonna put a coil in. I said nobody talked to my husband or me about this. They were supposed to come and check it out and we were told that it needed to be replaced two months ago. He said he would have to call me back. I ended up calling him back and he talked to my husband. He said he would call back and let us know whether or not we're having a three-way conversation with American Home Shield that night. He said that if not, it'd be the next day. And we haven't heard from him.
We’re waiting for American Home Shield and the company that's supposed to fix it. My husband said he does not want that company to fix our air conditioning. They're not reliable. AHS treated me well before. My oven went out and the techs came out and fixed it right away. They also fixed one of the burners on my stove because I didn't even know that one of the wires was shorting out. AHS has also replaced my washing machine and my hot water tank with no problems.

If you're picking a warranty service, I would recommend American Home Shield. I appreciate that they have people that are able to come out quickly to fix an issue. I can submit a claim online after hours. But if it doesn't fit in a little box, it's helpful to have that person who's knowledgeable. I've called and it has been helpful having a personal touch for things that were difficult to tell if they were covered by the warranty, instead of going online and saying, "I think this is it" and having someone come out and having it not be covered under the warranty, and I would be out $85 and my problem is still not fixed
Except for the thing that was not covered under the warranty, they have all fixed the problem. The air conditioner was no longer cooling, and that was bad because it was over 100 degrees outside. If it was a leak, they fixed it. I had a problem with the heating element and they fixed it. I also had a problem with the cooling element, and they fixed it, too. I have two warranties under AHS and they are duplexes, and they only have one address on it. So, when I do a claim for the other side, the person who comes out would have to contact AHS to get authorization to work on the other side, because it has a different address.

I've had issues with my dishwasher and my washing machine and the customer service experience with American Home Shield was great. From the time the request was sent in, they got someone out in about seven days. It was very quick. AHS is a good insurance to have. It's a very good company. It's normally not an issue and when you put in a request, they'll let you know. You get an automated thing saying who your technician is, what company and they'll reach out to you to set up an appointment to come out. AHS is fast, friendly and professional. They honor everything that they say though the technicians that they send out is something totally different.

I talked to people that rarely could speak English and every time I call, I get a different explanation for the same situation. It's pathetic. My air conditioning system went out and then, there was an electrical problem connected to it. The claim went easy. The tech came out and did what he was gonna do. Then, another AC guy came out and inspected what Happy Bear did. The problem was not solved and we had to switch it over to electrical. It was just a circuit breaker that needed to be replaced. It was a one-and-a-half-minute job that took a week to get done. Arizona right now is about 120 degrees and my 70-year-old parent lives there and my toddler niece. I was explaining to American Home Shield how dangerous this is and can they just, at least, try to contract with someone else to get someone out there. Going through it all and reliving it right now was horrible.

Most of the time, I call customer service for some places like Best Buy or Sears and it's a wreck. But AHS was a pleasant experience. The first time, the tech got the dishwasher fixed but it broke down again a month and a half later. AHS deemed it unrepairable because it's old and they wrote me a check for a new one.

The air conditioner wasn't working and American Home Shield put me in touch with Sea Breeze Heating. They called me and I explained that when we turn the air conditioner on, it was making this terrible noise. So they sent somebody out. The tech looked at it and there was a fan blade that was not working. It was cracked and they ordered the part. When the part came in, they put it in and it's been fine ever since. We've had the Sea Breeze people out before so I knew they were good. We've had other issues with people AHS sent out that we weren't happy or satisfied with. But Sea Breeze was excellent.
I’ve been with AHS for a few years now and mostly, it's been positive. But we had a few issues that I was not happy with and I was at the time not able to spend the time or energy to find another company. But once I got the new yearly rate, which is now over a thousand from around $800 a year, and the visits went up from $75 to $100, I checked around. Others are a lot less money. So, I am planning on switching warranty people.

The mini split system was installed on June 14th and it’s not cooling now. They found a leak in the system, so they ended up having to replace the unit, which cost 300 and some dollars, which I wasn't thrilled about. I called American Home Shield yesterday and they weren't very helpful. It's been over 30 days, so I didn't get any satisfaction. This may not be covered. The rep said she'd call the technician and have them contact me, but that hasn't happened, so I’m gonna call the technician from Earl's Air Conditioning. I’m not satisfied with American Home Shield. And they're the most expensive one out there. I used to have Fidelity and I may be going back to them.

I just signed up with a full house contract + pool and spa service, and could not regret more. Our first service placed was on 6/26/23 for our dishwasher that is leaking, yes I say "is leaking" because 30 + days have passed and nothing has been resolved. Every time I call they do not have the records from previous calls. They told me to reach out to the contractor, upon reaching out to the contractor he tells me that he sent his report to AHS and can not do anything more for me.
This week along I called AHS three different days, to which they have only one day recorded. I requested twice to escalate my case, and it seems that today they did. The escalator representative, Naomi, told me that the vendor needs to call the authorization department in order to further explain the parts order. The vendor said that he had submitted everything, so now what??? How much longer will I wait for them to fix a dishwasher. It's the worse and I want to cancel my annual contract.

Do not waste your money on this company. They will charge you monthly fees and additional fees when they send a technician. Then they will provide absolutely no value or service. Their technicians are unprofessional and incompetent. On multiple occasions, their our repair contractors do not even answer their calls! One a technician comes, he says the item is now repaired but "wait a couple of days for it to start". A couple of days later, nothing happens. You call them, they apologize then send someone else just as incompetent as the first one they sent, then the whole movie repeats. This is a large enough operation that can only be stopped by a class action lawsuit for the hours they wasted of my time and others. I will be looking for a lawyer to teach these bozos a lesson.
