    I submitted a service request for a broken air conditioning unit. I went through 2 AC companies through AHS to fix my AC unit. They misdiagnosed the problem and we’re trying to up-sell me a new unit. I had to call an AC company directly (not affiliated with AHS) and they showed up the same day and fixed my unit in 2 hours. So after 2 weeks of no AC, I had to call my own AC company to fix a simple problem and AHS refused to pay for the cost, even though the part is covered in my policy. Terrible company! If anyone else with similar problems would like to join in on a lawsuit reach out to me.

    Overall, AHS has been good. But the coverage is getting a bit expensive. Most recently, I had a problem with my air conditioner. I had a bit of trouble getting a hold of the contractor they assigned but once I did, they were able to fix my issue right away. The tech was prompt, on time, professional and friendly. He knew what he was doing and explained everything really well. It was a problem with a leak. I've checked on it a few times and it has been great.

    With AHS, I like having security if something goes wrong. Overall, the warranty has been worth it. I've had to call for a variety of things including my air conditioner, washing machine and dishwasher. I've also had to call for a plumbing issue. They've all gotten fixed promptly which has been nice.

    In June I contacted AHS to request service to get plumbing repairs to my gas line which was leaking gas at the meter. The Utility Co had turned off the gas. There was a back and forth with me constantly calling them with little results. They charged me $125 for the fee. It is now July and they want me to find my own plumber. Ms contractors contacted refuse to work with AHS because of payment issues. I do not have the funds needed to get the repairs ($150 -$175/hr) done and at present without hot water or heat if needed.

    AHS refuse to put my request for services not rendered in a written statement to me and stated they could not provide a contractor to do the repairs to my gas line in Meridian Mississippi. If it was known that this would be an issue I would not have wasted time establishing an relationship with this entity. I asked at the onset whether AHS would be able to or could provide a contractor for services required if needed and I was assured that this would not be a problem in this city. Totally disappointed and left to be without favorable results.

    The oven was not working. I made a service request to American Home Shield through the website. Submitting the claim was easy. They took the money, but the oven has not been repaired yet. It's more than a month now. Sears came out after a while, and then they said they're gonna order a part. Then, a day before yesterday, I got a message saying that they canceled the service request because one of the parts is not available. So far, I have not gotten anything done with AHS. Everything is delayed. We put in a service request, the vendor will come out weeks later, and then they don't fix it. They're just going back and forth. But even though nothing gets done, at least the customer service people are nice to me. They are very responsive when you call them.

    With AHS, I don't have to worry if I got to call somebody, I'm paying 100 bucks a month, but I know that somebody will come and it'll just cost me 75 bucks unless they have to replace Freon and then it's a whole lot more. When my AC shut down while we were on vacation, the tech came out and it turned out that the problem had to do with a capacitor. We put a request in on Saturday night and he made it out on Monday afternoon because they were closed on Sunday. The tech was a nice guy. He checked a few things inside, then checked outside, replaced the capacitor, and the AC kicked right back on.

    A few years ago, when I had my pool pump go out, the guy who came out didn't speak any English and trying to communicate was difficult to me. They need to have English-speaking people. Other than that, they've replaced my pool pump a few times. At another time, we had a claim for an AC on the other side and when they techs were up in the attic, one of them stepped on the condensing line and busted it. It created a leak that jacked up all the drywall in the garage. But they paid for somebody to come out and fix it. Then, I had another claim where the tech who came out unplugged my beer refrigerator. The beer I had was expensive and you burn it if you unplug the refrigerator. Or if it's been cold, it needs to stay cold continuously. So, it was $150 in beer that I had just thrown away because it was no good. So, there have been good contractors and there have been bad ones.

    Our washing machine broke and AHS immediately replaced it. They had somebody come by and look at it first, and the tech was excellent. For the replacement, we had a choice, but we picked the same kind of washing machine. We also had issues with our air conditioning and they were very quick to help us with that. It took the techs a little bit to diagnose it as it had a problem three times and it was a different problem every time. But they fixed it every time and since the last service, the AC's performance has been really good.

    One of my vents that led to the furnace impacted the carbon monoxide being allowed into the house. AHS was fairly quick in getting a technician. They told me the person to contact, then I negotiated the times with the person that accepted the service request. When he came out, he expressed concerns that I thought the problem had something to do with the air conditioner. And he was very clear that it was a danger because of the carbon monoxide being released into the house. He then sent the proposal to American Home Shield and I got an email that said to reach out to them.

    But I didn't see anything that said they were not going to pay for any repair and I didn't realize that the $350 that I was quoted for the repair was my portion. American Home Shield didn't pick that up and I was a little upset by that because it wasn't clear to me that they weren't doing it. I would have wanted the whole thing repaired and not a patch job for something as serious as carbon monoxide. So, I went and reached out to my insurance company at that time.

    AHS should have better communication. Also, I've used them four times total and each time, it was a process. So, it was an interruption to a day. I work from home and I do a lot of Zoom meetings. But it worked out and it's better than me having to pay out of my pocket the full amounts that we had. I've had a furnace replaced and my portion of that was about 500. In my understanding, it was a $3,000 job. So, it's about the savings. The price of the policy is fair as well, considering they're taking a portion of the major expenses. My portion is minimal. I'm on a fixed budget, so it's really important that I don't bankrupt myself paying for repairs. Aside from that, American Home Shield's website is user-friendly. Any time I've gone in, I've been able to get what I need and explore.

    When my house was not cooling properly, I submitted a service request online and the website was easy to use. If I could figure it out, a trained monkey could. American Home Shield sent someone out within a day. I didn't submit the claim until in the evening and if it had been too hot, I just would have gone to a hotel. The technician that came out knew exactly what was wrong. It was a leak, and as soon as he went outside, he had it fixed in under an hour, made sure everything was reset internally, and told me I could close my windows, turn off my fans, and enjoy cool air.     Having American Home Shield takes a weight off my shoulders. I could see other people in the neighborhood getting stuff done to their houses, and I thought, "Oh, I don't wanna have any surprises." I don't have to worry about that unknown factor, and it's super easy to use the website. I like that. Everybody's been really nice too. We had a roof leak, and the repair people were out within four days and fixed it. Recently, our air conditioning unit went out at one of the hottest weekends over 4th of July.     American Home Shield is good. When I call, they come out, but I wish they had an app, because I have to search through my emails to try to find something. I called them in early July when my house wasn't cooling and the guy that was sent out was really nice and pleasant. He looked at both my units and changed something. He said, “We have to see if it'll work, and go from there. If there's any issues or anything else, then just give us a call back. We’ll come out and take care of it.” Last Thursday, I came home and the upstairs was 85 degrees, so I called the repair company back out.

    The guy came on Monday, and I was charged another fee. I wasn't too happy about that. When the initial time I called and the house wasn't cooling, the guy touched both units and looked at both thermostats, but he said he didn't work on it. That was the reason another fee was charged. I said, “Clearly, you can see I have two units.” It’s still not fixed yet, and I'm still waiting. The guy said that they'll give a call once the part comes in.

    The last claim I had was on a washing machine, and I haven't gotten it resolved yet. It took a week before American Home Shield got somebody out there, and after someone got there, he turned everything in. The washing machine, because of the age of it, is out, and the repair guy said they couldn't get the parts for it. He said it had to be replaced. It was good because he did what he was supposed to do. However, I haven't gotten anything from American Home Shield. I called a couple of times, and they were supposed to be getting back with me on it.

    Before the washing machine claim, I also filed claims for a water heater as well as a faucet on my other house and they are still unresolved as well. With the faucet, I told American Home Shield I didn't want the contractor they assigned to put it in because he was charging too much money and putting in an inferior faucet. It was not gonna be one like the one I have, and I could get the one that I have for less than what he was charging. American Home Shield was supposed to send me a link to take care of that, and I haven't gotten that either.

    With the water heater, it was two weeks after I filed the claim before I got any information from anybody and they couldn't get anybody to come out. They told me to get somebody, which I did. By the time they sent me the form saying the person had to contact them, I had already contracted with them to put the water heat in the next day and I paid the guy. I paid cash for the water heater and haven't gotten reimbursed. The contractor had to call American Home Shield to get authorization, but they forgot. The faucet was a claim in February, the water heater was a claim in May, and the washing machine claim was in June. No one has called, and no emails have been sent.

    A contractor has been fixing my air conditioner and ordered a part. But they have never come back. I was waiting for the man to bring the part. He said as soon as he gets the part, he'll call me. That was last week. I’ve been waiting for him for long. I don't think he knew what he was doing. He told me what to do every time it goes off. I have to go outside and unplug the thing for the breaker for the air conditioner. Then I have to go to the electrical box for my house. I turn that off and wait a minute. We get some cool air for two or three hours but that's it. I've had a claim on my washing machine too. It was spinning and making noise. A guy came and fixed it. I recommend AHS ‘cause you got so many companies now that's popping up but not giving all the services for the price. The price is good. But other than that, it all depends on what company they send out to me.

    For the most part, I have a great experience with American Home Shield. They get back to me within 24 hours. All of the contractors do good work. Recently, Grade A Plumbing came out for a faucet leak in the bathroom. They communicated. They sent a text when the technician was coming. He changed the faucet on there. The only complaint I have is my premium went up. I called in about that, and they were gonna give me a credit to adjust it. But that credit never took effect.

    The ice machine on my Samsung refrigerator wasn't working and it was leaking. I had been dealing with that for a long time, and I never thought to call the home warranty, then I thought, "Oh, wait, I have that and it covers it." The website is super simple to use and I love it, but I'm more of an over-the-phone person. I called American Home Shield and they had somebody come out right away. The technicians were very professional and knowledgeable. I didn't even know Sears was still operating, so it was cool to see that they had the technicians that work on the appliances and they knew what they were doing. They fixed my refrigerator.

    The reps were very friendly during signup. However, I'd like to see like the exclusions on what's not included be more upfront. Also, the customer support is good, but sometimes it takes a bit longer to deal with that. I have a friend who has the home warranty and she was not happy with the AC vendor that they used, ES Heating & Air. It was three days before somebody got to her to schedule an appointment. Other than that, everything's good on my end. I am happy with American Home Shield's services, and I've referred them to a couple of friends and family. It's a great price and they cover everything I can think of. Also, if I call them less than a month since the last time they came out for the same issue, then they'll waive the service fee sometimes.

    So far, AHS been okay. I've only had a couple of instances that have been minor. The biggest one was a water heater which somehow, even with the warranty program, I still ended up paying 900 and something dollars to have it replaced. They say they cover the water heater, but any additional plumbing or anything that's needed or modifications to meet new specifications, I have to pay for. For the most recent claim, I called it in late on a Friday night and Saturday afternoon a contractor was there for an air conditioning repair. The repairman was there 20 minutes and it's all been working fine since.

    American Home Shield had to replace my washer. At first, I was disappointed because the washing machine must have been already in the state where it needed to be replaced. The technician from the first company said he fixed it but it wasn't fixed. Then they told me the part was supposed to have been delivered in two days but when I called them, they told me it didn't get on the order. Also, the price went up this year.

    Whatever you do, do not sign up for a home warranty with American Home Shield. I’ve paid for the top platinum coverage for over 15 years. The first time I need an appliance replaced, they refuse to replace with a comparable item. It doesn’t matter that the contract says they will. It even states they are required to replace with similar features, CAPACITY and efficiency. Their policy is to install “standard” 50 gallon water heaters. I have an 80 gallon one. The supervisor told me it was comparable because they both heat water!!! In that case, they can replace an oversized washer with an apartment sized. After all, they both wash clothes. Their policy is to replace with their opinion of what standard is. It doesn’t matter the quality or cost of what you currently own.

    By the way, a 50 gallon water heater does not even meet code for my house. That doesn’t matter to them. I have been told so many obvious lies. I won’t take your time to list them all. Some were absolutely ridiculous! It took almost 4 days for a supervisor to even call me (when I was promised 4 hours). I’ve referred this whole mess to the Better Business Bureau. If you’ve had issues with them, I’d urge you to do the same. That seems to be the only voice we have as clients.

    When I moved into the house a year and a half ago, we were having air conditioning issues. AHS had a vendor come out and they were very friendly. The techs did some stuff but it didn't fix the issue at all. It was just, "Oh, this is just the problem. It's gonna be like this." This year, I noticed the issue again.

    They sent out a different vendor but AHS had no information about who the first vendor was to be able to look back on the previous claim. The new vendor did great and was prompt. They found the issue and replaced the part. My AC unit functions great so the issue was misdiagnosed by the previous vendor.

    AHS did a pretty good job connecting me to a technician. Within two days, I was scheduled. The only issue is that there have been two different instances where a tech finds out what the problem is and then has to do something additional. The communication from the vendor to Home Shield back to me that things are in the works is the only glitch that I've noticed. Other than that, I like knowing that the rate I get if I call somebody for certain services is the exact rate for them to come out. Also, I'd rather have the investment of the cost of the warranty with a little peace of mind even though there is a ton of stuff it doesn't cover.

    Doing claims with American Home Shield online is easier and a lot quicker. You're usually contacted within 24 hours of putting in the request. When my AC wasn't working, I contacted American Home Shield online, paid them the 100 bucks, and they sent CamAire out. CamAire called and set an appointment. I told the CamAire what the issue was as I knew what was going on after I listened to it. The capacitor was out. If you try to start it, it goes, "Tooooot. Tooooot." It didn't have enough fuse to start. The tech that came had the part on his truck and he was there for a total of about 15 minutes. He replaced the capacitor and we made sure it was working then off he went. CamAire was really good.

    American Home Shield's customer service is fine and so is their website. It's easy to use. But I'm dissatisfied and I'll probably be canceling the service. The price is fine if they would actually replace what's broken. It's advertised, "We'll replace your AC if it's broken." But when the guys come out to work on it, there is a limit to how much they can do. My freezer just went out so I called American Home Shield and a guy came out. He did something to the unit and I had to call again because it quit working a month later. He was limited to $400 for a $3,200 refrigerator freezer. I'll put the $85 away every month and I'll just buy a new one when something breaks.

    American Home Shield typically has fast response. I usually do the claims through their website and there are a few things that should be added such as the fine print. I've done spring tune-ups and I wanted both air conditioners tuned up. But there's not an option to put two ACs. It's just AC tune-up. I've had some issues in the past but for the most part, submitting a claim is straightforward and the website is user-friendly. My most recent one was an air conditioner repair and AHS had a company assigned to our claim. I never got contacted so I contacted the company that they assigned. They were a week and a half out before they could come. So, I called AHS and they got another company to come out the next day. It took 10 minutes for the tech to fix it. And since then, I’ve had no problems.

    Over the seven years I’ve had AHS, I've had multiple things worked on. I had a claim for the ceiling fan. It was fine but the light wouldn’t come on. I changed the light bulbs thinking that the light bulbs were blown but it didn't work. So I did a claim, and they sent an electrician out. He changed a sensor in the fan and it worked great. That took about ten minutes too.

The monthly premium has gone up 50% and that's the only thing that would probably stop me from continuing to subscribe to them. Other than that, I would always recommend them. If I have a plumbing issue, I just call them and the problem is taken care of. When I submitted a claim for the pool pump, I received text and emails. It was very informative. The tech determined that the pump was putting out enough pressure. There may have been a blockage in the line, and he inspected the line and found that there was some debris in the line. So he took care of that debris. He was very helpful and professional. But my problem still isn't solved, so it's something else.

    I have a couple of accounts with AHS for both rental and personal properties and they have been really good with responding. When my oven would not heat up, I called to have a tech come out. He repaired it in about 15 minutes. He had a professional attitude and presentation. I also had the microwave done by American Home Shield when it stopped working. At another property for my son, he called recently about the dishwasher. I would highly recommend considering American Home Shield. Their website is good. The one thing I don't like about it is if I cancel an account, I have to pay a standard fee of $25. It doesn't matter how long I've been with them. They are also getting ready to go up. Plus they are putting a cap on the amount, up to $5,000.

    The tech that came in said he fixed the water pipe. But it started dripping a couple of hours later. When the other gentleman came in, he said, "Oh, it's the valve in the back." He also said that it was going to cost $200. One of my family members who does plumbing happened to be over the weekend after that and said, "That's not it. They just messed the cartridge and didn't lock it." It was pretty bad. I told Home Shield to red flag the contractor for me and that I don't wanna use them again. But Home Shield was amazing.

    I've had quite a few repairs at my house and they've always been courteous, and supportive. They answer the phone within a couple of minutes, which is great.     The air conditioning unit was not working and it was one that they had installed a few years back for the same property. We requested for a service and paid $100. Somebody came and the guy said it's under warranty and they are not covering it. It's American Home Shield who had installed this exact thing a couple of years back and we don't have the receipt. We finally find out through American Home Shield where they got it but the place doesn't cover California so they couldn't guarantee it. We went back to American Home Shield and they kept arguing with us. I told them to call the company but they don't wanna call. I was super frustrated. They finally agreed after all that to do something about it.

    Also, I have a garage door opener that was installed by them. I didn't get a choice and they chose the cheapest one and even then, I still had to pay out of pocket for whatever they told me. I finally paid myself for a new one after looking up the best Yelp review. American Home Shield mostly offers the services to mediocre people. The companies that work with them are usually third-rate companies and they do the bare minimum or they do mediocre to below-average jobs. Most of the time, they just deny the service. I lose my $100 and that's how they make their money. Only very occasionally would they fix the issue and everything is an argument. Overall, it's a huge headache and getting more and more expensive. I have canceled my policy for one of my properties but the three others that are my rental properties are still with them because I need somebody.

    We had a claim for the air conditioner and we paid a $125 fee. The techs came and the issue was just something minor. So, that wasn't a big deal. But I had a claim two weeks ago for my swimming pool which had a crack in the housing. They wouldn't power it. I pay a company every week to come out and check the chemicals and backwash. When the microwave went out, they couldn't get the part for it so they just put in a new one. That cost me $75 and I got a $300 microwave. But it seems that they work harder trying to get out of paying than they would if they just went ahead. Other than that, AHS's system on the telephone is better than it used to be.

    I usually go online to submit claims and I put in the information into the form and let them know what the issue is. Very soon, somebody gets assigned to the job and I'm always happy to pay the $75 fee that is required for initial investigations. It has always worked quite well. Most recently, our clothes washer was not working properly. Cycles were not being completed and my wife would find clothes standing in water. The repair person came and he wasn't able to determine a problem. It wasn't giving error signals he needed to know for sure what the problem was.

    I thought he was a little abrupt and not really interested in helping that much. That's the impression I got from him. But he said to be sure and call back if it continued to have problems.     I had a claim a couple of weeks ago for my air conditioning and American Home Shield scheduled it. But I had a very hard time getting any kind of communication from the company. They kept telling me they would schedule the installation and every day, it was the same. The AC is a two-year-old unit and I called the people who first installed it. They said there was not even a claim put on it, meaning the company that American Home Shield sent me hadn't even ordered the part in two weeks. And it's 100 degrees here in Houston. So, I ended up cancelling and just paying out of pocket to get it fixed.

    Some of the people that AHS deals with are not trustworthy. They also overcharged me for Freon. They had me pay for the Freon upfront and told me I needed nine pounds but my unit only holds four. I mentioned that to AHS before I cancelled them. I made sure I could get my money back, which was $600. I verified it from two sources so I was paying for the labor still with something covered. And that was not the first. I have two units at my home, which is a one-story but there’s one on each side. I remember making a claim for the other unit and they had me pay for a slab to put the new unit on. Being young, I didn't think about what they were saying. I already had a slab and they didn't pour a new slab. So, I paid for something I already had. I realized it but it had been a couple of years.

    I've been ready to cancel American Home Shield several times but something always will happen. But I'm seriously probably doing it now. I'm also not impressed with their rate changes every year. Their service is not going along with their rate. The service call has only gone up once. It started at 59.75 but the monthly right now is 76.99. Also, AHS feels very automated and ingenuine. I've spoken with the service company and scheduled it, and the man has come out. That was on a Sunday. On a Monday, I got a call from American Home Shield from a rep saying they got my claim and the company was gonna come out. And I said that already happened. The systems haven't crossed where they have recorded what I've already spoken to another rep about.

    I have peace of mind that, in most instances, AHS is gonna pay the fee and everything else is gonna be covered. We have a fridge that is known for having the ice maker freeze up.     American Home Shield was contact by my husband and I at the end of May. Due to my furnace making noises and AC not working properly. 1st tech came out on May 25. Gave us a diagnosis and explained to us to not run unit lower than 75 degrees but American Home Shield claim tech said NOTHING was wrong! Fast forward July 5 furnace stopped running. Today is July 27. I have been without AC. Now American Home Shield is billing us for 1700 to repair claim. It's due to misused and abused. When really it's a failure of contract! If it would've been fixed the first time the claim was put in. My husband and I would be in this position! My claim was denied twice and at least 3 different companies and 6 different techs has been to my home and nothing has been repaired.

    When I call AHS, it's been good ‘cause it saves me money. I've been paying on it for 20 years that I'm probably even. We also pay $75 each time they come out to do a call. They ask me for my policy number and then they call me to set up an appointment, or I set up an appointment. Everything I've needed has gotten fixed, so I'm good. We had an issue with the GE microwave door. It worked out fine. They came and fixed it, but then it cracked again. But it wasn't their fault. It was just the GE door was faulty.

    American Home Shield repaired a dryer for me and it was covered. The dryer broke twice and I only had to pay 100 bucks each time. So that was good. I also had to have an AC unit replaced. I was grateful for their help but when the AC unit was replaced, I still had to spend $4,100 out of pocket. It was probably a $9,000 AC unit so I was happy to only pay $4,100. Their new contract for next year says that they only cover $5,000 in AC repairs but I'm positive the old contract did not say that. So, I was a little upset that I had to pay that much out of pocket when I'm paying for their insurance. I wanted to see if anywhere in their contract says things they don't pay for when it comes to air conditioning.

    AHS did a good job but I've asked them three times to email me a copy of my contract and they have not sent it to me. I'm not happy about that. I've talked to three different humans asking for someone to email me a copy of my contract. I've also talked to three different humans asking them to send me a copy of things that were not covered for this repair they just did. This was two weeks ago and no one will email me anything. I'm not thrilled. I'm about to make a Better Business Bureau complaint if someone doesn't send me what I was asking for. When you call them, they know who you are from your phone number right away. So it's right in front of somebody. Yet, they still can't send me a copy and I got hoodwinked a little on this AC unit. Maybe it says in the contract they don't pay for this or that, which is cool. That's fine. But I wanna know for sure because the policy is getting ready to renew and I wanna be able to compare the old one versus the new one.

    When I call American Home Shield to submit a claim, they're fine. They choose somebody to come. That company gets in touch with me and we schedule an appointment. Usually, the appointment is right away or within 24 hours. Recently, the air conditioner would turn on in the morning and then in the afternoon, it wouldn't. They put a part in that started it up and it's fixed. I've also had an ice maker repaired by them and a hot water heater, too and now my trash compactor. I've been very happy with them.

    I've put in a service request, and the website makes it so easy. I love it. American Home Shield's service has been great too. I called one time and I had great customer support. I called the AC guy out one week, then the compressor went out two weeks later. It happened over the weekend and I was trying to see if I could get a third party to come out and fix it because I didn't wanna go the whole weekend without an AC. The lady was really kind about it. She told me since I had just gotten maintenance done that she would waive the service fee. I was really satisfied with how she handled it. The tech was a cool guy as well. I've see him twice now.     We had a plug in the kitchen drain, and I tried to get it out myself, but I could not reach it. We did a service request on a weekend, then the plumber came out Tuesday morning. It was relatively quick, and the plumber was good. It turned out that the plug was 75 feet down from the drain. The plumber tried multiple different things, because he didn't think it was gonna be that far down either, and it took him quite a while.

    We had other service requests before this as well. One was with regards to the air conditioning that was freezing up, and there was another one with the air conditioning last year where we had the same issue. We also use American Home Shield to come out and do the yearly check on the furnace. The home warranty has come in handy with the few items that we had in the house. It's not just American Home Shield though. Any home warranty helps when it's a house that has problems that could potentially be very expensive.

    I was a member with American Home Shield (AHS) for a couple of months when I gave them a very positive review. A few months later, I placed a claim for a leaking toilet. The claim was approved and their plumber checked it and directed us to refinish the floor before he replaced the toilet. A week later, the plumber had a medical emergency and was going to be on Medical Leave indefinitely.

    Over a 10-month period, I checked with them and they could not find a plumber to complete the job (not sure if they ever tried). They gave me an option to find my own plumber, but no one wanted to deal with home warranty companies. (I'll note that I live on an island and getting responsible professionals is challenging.) After haggling with AHS for 10 months, the original plumber returned to work and again checked our leaking toilet and a second one that had just started to leak. AHS denied both claims, even though the first one had been approved. Now they denied both toilets.

    I had to fight and push the claims for 10 MONTHS. The first claim was denied later because the toilet sat on the floor that entire time and some of the components had become dry. The cost to repair was too high and they claimed it was my fault. My claims were moved up the chain of command, after ridiculous amounts of time on the phone, and a manager started to help resolve this ugly mess. I was assured the equivalent products or better (according to their policy) were going to be used to replace a Kohler toilet and the other which I can't remember, and emphasized that one was white and the other bisque. The manager insisted that the plumber knew the colors.

    The same plumber (returned from Medical Leave), installed 2 low-grade contractor products in white. I learned from the plumber that he was directed to install low-end toilets in white. I was enraged!!! For 1 1/2 years, I was paying $125.00 per month for coverage. Two weeks later the first toilet showed a leak. The plumber checked it, and it didn't show anything because we had turned the water off.

    Now, three weeks later, I have canceled my membership because they violated the rules in their policy, they never got my online access corrected, they are not consistent in sending e-mails regarding approval of claims, they installed cheap toilets, and adding insult to injury...I had to pay another month's premium because I'm canceling before March 2024. They tried to give me a $50 rebate, but my time was worth more than that. It cost me another $125. to get rid of AHS. If I had the money, I would have sued them. Over the 1 1/2 years membership, it cost me $2400+. It was the worst investment I have ever made.

    We purchased additional coverage for our inground pool. We submitted a claim two weeks ago. AHS contacted us 10 days later advising that they could not locate any local servicers. Their first option was for us to locate someone ourselves and take care of the repair and they would reimburse. We all know how that would end up. We would be out whatever expense we put out. Next, they ask if we would be willing to do a service call by phone to diagnose the problem. We paid our service fee as required....and we're receiving a phone call? When you try to contact customer service, you speak to someone you can't understand. I did my research! This company was supposed to be top notch. Buyer beware!!!! We have done everything possible to maintain the pool chemicals and still the pool is unusable during this massive heatwave. We have out of state family coming in tomorrow and what a disappointment! No pool!

    My refrigerator stopped cooling. Put in an order for repair - the vendor, Ancient Service, Inc., advised they could not come out until Wednesday - I place the order on a Thursday. I called AHS to see if they could send someone sooner, not without cancelling the current order, so I waited. Took another week before they came out with the part - TWO WEEKS - NO WORKING FRIDGE!!!! And today, the guy put in the part and left - shame on me for not making sure everything was in working order before he left, but since he asked me what settings everything was on, I believed he was setting my refrigerator to cool (and freezer).

    Ran some errands, came home, and lo-and-behold, the settings are flashing "0" and now neither the freezer nor refrigerator are cooling - and they can't send anyone out until tomorrow. AHS OWES ME A NEW REFRIGERATOR FOR MY TIME, TROUBLE, AND SPOILED FOOD. The vendor was HORRIBLE as well. Needless to say, I am not renewing my warranty with this company.

    You should get American Home Shield on your house. In the long term, it's worth getting because you don't wanna pay $200 or $300 to have somebody come out and fix. I like the cost and the promptness of the contractors that would contact me within an amount of time and get me there and give feedback. Recently, the air conditioning unit needed service. Warm air blew out. But there was no cool air. There are many questions to try to get into submitting the claim. But everything looks fine. I looked online to see if there's any feedback through Yelp yellow pages to see what the reviews are of that contractor. There's one negative, but everything else was positive. That's what influenced me more. And the contractor person was very nice and went out of his way to do something else regarding making sure my AC unit would last me through the summer. Everything is working.

    I am completely unsatisfied. The first claim to rekey my locks was great. I had a plumbing issue and HVAC system wasn't working at the start of Winter. The plumber came out, AHS didn't cover the issue so I paid the deductible and the plumber out of pocket. An HVAC tech came out in December and noted that there was a faulty part in my heat pump. I didn't get a follow up by AHS or the HVAC tech until MARCH that the unit was too old and not covered by AHS therefore I was quoted a price of $4k to repair with no guarantee it would work because this part needed to be replaced to test the rest of the unit.

    I had called customer service numerous times in January, February to get some kind of follow up. We had to use space heaters to keep my family warm. They just kept apologizing and saying they would "escalate". I thought having a warranty would help with costs but in reality, the deductibles and having to go through a tech through this company is a rip off to me. I'd rather hire my own handman, which I did, and in the long run I've saved money while getting my home needs taken care of.

    We call American Home Shield for service requests, and they go through the procedure they're supposed to go through, which is fine. We pay $75, then the service guys come and check things out, and it’s been covered. It's good for someone to come in and give us a truthful evaluation of the problem. With the last request we had, the person that we were given for our air conditioning texted but didn't notify me about, “Was this a good date or not?” They just told me they were coming that day. I called back and canceled, then we never got a call from them. I can see how the American Home Shield reps are not at fault at the office. This was the person that was assigned to us that we had a problem with. Finally, we got it taken care of yesterday, and the service people resolved the problem with our air conditioning unit.     Whenever you finally cancel your policy you will wish you would have read this post. The company doesn’t do anything but call vendors with the same money you already paid. The basic function of the company is allow you pay a monthly fee and hope you never use the service. If you use the service then whatever needs to be fixed will not be covered or will be partially covered. You will be left wondering what did I pay all that money for?!?! The escalation department will “Call you back in (maybe) in 24-48 hours” and then you will say “What A Useless Company”.

    I don't like AHS at all. They don't cover as well as I thought they would. For the AC, they sent out the most horrible companies. Not a good experience. The AC is fixed now. But I got it fixed outside of AHS. AHS didn't cover the repair due to the notes from the AC person they sent out. They shouldn't have taken only the advice of the AC person that they sent out. They should have given an opportunity to get a second person out. Because that turned out to be not the reason why it was broken. AHS blew that call, so they are losing a customer. I'm getting rid of them.

    Never have this insurance. Be careful of an insurance assign named Zahid from appliance tech INC because I've been spending the past 3 weeks trying to get him to properly fix my stove, which he hadn't done. We wanted to complain about the issues we were having of getting our stove fixed, yet they are making us wait more than 24 hours to be able to!     The subs American Home Shield has had before have always been very honest. At one point, we needed a replacement of a cooktop. They couldn't match the unit that I've got. They said, "We have this much money or it." It was about half the cost of the new one but that was at least something. But I'm calling American Home Shield tomorrow and stopping my contract. We had a broken hot water heater and it did a little bit of leaking. We called American Home Shield, and they sent somebody out. The unit is 21 years old and it was the largest residential unit I could buy at the time. It's 119 gallons. Part of the reason for that is we had young children, so I wanted to keep the temperature very low. Mays Plumbing came out, looked at it and said, "Yep, it's broken. It needs to be replaced."

    We got a note in our email which said, "Call American Home Shield and we'll tell you what's up." They said, "We're not going to cover your unit. It's a commercial unit." I said, "It's not a commercial unit. I have documentation. It's a residential unit." They told me it was Mays Plumbing that called it a commercial unit. They said, "Let's send somebody else out there for a second opinion." They sent HMK Plumbing out. By then, I had pulled the original documentation and a big red form on the handout that comes with the unit. It says residential electric hot water heater. They again said, "No, we're not going to cover this at all. It's a commercial unit."

    I sent an email to the company asking them to document that this was a residential unit sold in 2002. They sent me an email back with confirmation that it's a residential unit. I also did the research. A commercial unit is 277 volts and 12,000 watts. A residential unit is 4,500 watts and 240 volts. I sent them a copy of the contract. They then told me, "We're not going to replace it because it's more than 75 gallons and nowhere in the contract does it say any gallons."

    After spending hours on the phone, finally, I got ahold of the resolution department and that was after I sent a FedEx to the company with all of the exhibits. There was no email address to send to. They kept telling me to use americanhomeshield@ahs.com, customercare@ahslink.com, customercarelink@ahs.com. But all these emails bounced back. This guy named Aaron who was very pleasant looked at all the data. I sent him the email and the people from American Home Shield had the FedEx sent to their headquarters in Tennessee. They've had it now for nine days but I've heard nothing. American Home Shield needs customer service. I don't mind the price which is $1,200 a year if they cover what they say they are covering. But when they're not covering it, it's not worth it.

    American Home Shield has been all right. Sometimes, I had to call back in like with my AC. We had one guy coming out, and to me, it seemed like he was trying to sell me a new air conditioner from his company, telling me that my air conditioner was unrepairable. At that time, when he did that, I wasn't thinking. My biggest thing was, "Oh, my God, I'm gonna have to spend money and buy an air conditioner because they can't fix this." So, I was like, "What's the point of me having a service contract?" I used to work for an extended warranty company, so I know the tricks of the trade when it comes to them sending out service centers and when it comes to us doing parts. If it's not repairable, typically, that's something that the company has to replace. They try to repair it, and if it can't get repaired, then they'll look for another alternative for you.

    I had already called someone to come out to check my air conditioner. They did the six-month checkup for preventative maintenance. I was like, "When they came out, they didn't say anything was wrong with it." The dude was saying that he couldn't fix it, so he left. He left all his information from his company on how much their air conditioners would be. So, I called my warranty company back, and I said, "Hey, dude telling me he can't fix this. Okay, well, what are we gonna do?" I needed air conditioning. So, I wanted answers. I said, "What do you mean? Somebody else needs to come out here and fix it." They sent someone else out, and that guy was wonderful. He fixed my stuff and he was done within 30 minutes.

    I only try to use my extended warranty on my major stuff such as my appliances. I did have an issue once with my shower. I didn't know that if they come to fix your shower, if there's something behind that wall, they don't open that wall up. You're responsible for breaking the wall down for them to get to it. I was kind of mad because the pressure was not good, so they had to go behind the wall to fix something, but it took them three minutes for whatever they did after I tore down the whole wall. I was stuck with a hole in the wall until I had somebody to come back and re-tile it. If it's an issue with my shower, next time, I know I ain't gonna call AHS. I was like, "That's $100 I'm spending for you to do that, when I probably could have went and bought that part myself and broke the wall down and do all that." Other than that, it's been good.

    My most recent claim was for my refrigerator which wasn't cooling. When the tech came out, he said he put Freon in it, and it's working fine now. He was here not even an hour. The night before, I had already pulled the refrigerator out so I can clean behind it that way he would be able to get to whatever he needed to get to. He pulled it out again so he could look behind it. He went outside to his truck, came back in, and did some stuff. He wasn't here that long. I stuck my hand in the freezer and in the refrigerator, and he did let me know that it was cooling. I did notice that the temperature had changed.

    There have been times when I was like, "I'm gonna cancel my warranty." I almost left them and went to another company because their service charge was a lot lower. I'm glad I kept AHS because you never know how much it costs for somebody to come out, if they're gonna fix it, and how much it'll be with parts. I don't read my terms and conditions, but I got common sense to know that if it's normal wear and tear, if you're using your oven and your oven ain't heating, they should come fix it. If your refrigerator is not cooling, your air conditioner is not cooling, and your freezer is not freezing, to me, those are things that you didn't break it. If you didn't break it, you should be able to have it repaired.

    Overall, I would recommend AHS. For the most part, every time I do call and speak to the representatives, they are nice, kind and they do understand. They are very empathetic. AHS is a lot cheaper than other warranty companies and they are sending out big-name people to come out and do repairs. They are well-known names that can afford to replace a product if need be. AHS just needs to look at the pricing for customers that have been with them for a long time. We need some kind of something.

    I wasn't happy with the company that American Home Shield sent. The guy came and he was nice at first. He started walking around the whole house looking around. I left him to go under the house, and then he said he was finished. He didn't do anything. He didn't change the light. It's still not working. Also, he left the crawl space going under my house open. We had no reason to check it behind him. He's a professional. We paid for that service, but he left it open. We went to the beach for four days, came home, and found it wide open. Animals had been up under there from the field. So, I called him and he said, "Well, don't you know, lady, that mistakes happen." I said, "Yeah. But you're the one that was supposed to close it back up."

    I was very upset about this. So, I called his office to speak to his boss. I left four messages and they never called me back. I said I just paid to have that crawl space fixed and cleaned, and now, I've got animal poop under there. I did call AHS and somebody took the message and they never got back to me. The initial issues I had were the plugs around the porch weren't working and then, the light in the living room blew a light bulb. So, I knew something was wrong. All he did was unscrew it and put it back. The light bulb is still blown out and it flickers. I told him that. He didn't do anything to it but unscrew it from the ceiling and put it back. He fixed the exterior sockets. He found the reset area.

    He didn't need to go under the house at all because the reset button that he found was in the laundry room. When I called him to tell him what he did, he said, "Well, didn't you check behind me and close it?" I said, "I don't need to check behind you. You should have known to do that as a licensed electrician to clean up behind yourself." He hung up on me. I've left messages with the answering service for the owner to call me back. I never want them back.

    I've always had American Home Shield for years. I'm not happy with their $125 co-pay. I've had bad experiences with some of the electricians they have sent to the home not being knowledgeable or being sloppy and dirty. I also have another policy on the home with another company that charges a lower premium per month and per co-pay. So, it depends on what's broken as to what company I will use, but some of the contractors that AHS sent out have been very incompetent and they leave trash on the floor.

    To submit claims, I call the main number and somebody calls me. Sometimes I can't understand them because they're foreign. So then, I'll have to call back. Also, the process is lengthy. It takes a long time for them to get the information. I hate it when they always say, "Well, Miss Carolyn, I understand that your sink is leaking and I'm sorry you're having that problem."     I had a claim for my hot water tank and the plumber came out and did something to it. Then, another plumber came out and said that something is not put on right. He said it can't be fixed and that I need parts. I asked what it is I need but he didn't tell me anything and just told me to get in touch with the insurance company. But nobody has called me. I've been out of hot water for over two weeks. All I know is AHS sent two people out and I don't know who messed it up. They keep sending me a message saying that they're gonna pay partially but nobody has gotten in touch with me. I'm not planning on keeping them if they can't do it.

    In the beginning, the experience with American Home Shield wasn't all that well because they were using different contractors. If I called about something, then that contractor wasn't there anymore. When they got steady with the contractors, it's been easier for us. Whenever I made a claim, they would come out and fix it with no issues. The prices did go up all the time. I know during COVID, the prices have gone up a little bit, but I appreciate them coming out to fix the issue and never had a problem with them not being on time. People who came out always knew what they were doing. That was why when I bought my second house, I continued to stay with American Home Shield. I like the ease of being able to go online and file a claim and that the contractors call you right back. It's not a big delay. They call you back within a decent timeframe to get you scheduled.

    They recently sent Comfort Masters for my air conditioner claim. These two guys had come out a while before when I had just bought the house. So, my AC is clogged, and they unclogged everything. They checked the pan and drained everything. They had to come back to do the same thing because the pan had overflowed again. So now the third time they came back, it was just for my AC not putting out cold air. They told me that everything looked good, but they did unclog the pipe again. The old thermostat wasn't working. So, I installed the Nest thermostat because nobody would do it for me. The tech told me that when I did that, I had switched a wire to something else in order for the cool air to come out. He did it and it's working ever since. The guys are both always friendly. My grand dog remembers them.

    If I set the temperature to 73, it was showing 75 on my thermostat so I thought something was going wrong. Remy Refrigeration Heating and Cooling reached out to me the next day after I filed a claim. Their tech came out the same day and he told me that the last person that put something in my unit had put a little bit too much refrigerant. He had to release a little bit of it and he also let me know that my unit was older. Since we were having almost 100 degrees in Florida during that time, he said the unit was trying to keep the house cool as much as it could but there was nothing else that he would be able to do because it was running fine.

    Another time my AC was messed up, they had to order a part and the part got lost in the mail. It was taking forever for it to get to me to get my AC fixed and they kept saying that it was en route. They got a manager on the phone who got them to look into it and that's when they realized that the part was missing. They had to reorder the part and after they did all that, the part got to me and the unit was fixed. Also, the manager kept in touch with me until I got the part. I love American Home Shield's services so far and they've been very helpful any time I have a problem about a claim.

    I had American Home Shield years ago and I didn't get a chance to use it. I went to another company but I did not like their service. In April, I signed back up with American Home Shield. I used the service when the AC was not cooling enough. We gave it a try to see what was going on. I know someone who actually worked on an AC department and he said that, "Oh, you know what? It could be Freon. It could be a lot of things. Maybe it's leaking." I needed someone from a professional point of view. I wanted to see what American Home Shield would say. A guy came in and he turned on the AC and checked it. Our AC unit is fairly new and was within five years. The tech found that the tapes were not taped out so the air leaked out. It's not that the unit was leaking. He fixed that. He was pretty truthful and the AC is working fine.

    I'm very satisfied and I would recommend American Home Shield to other friends if it's affordable. The only thing is the copay is little bit higher. Some other company charges 80 something but American Home Shield is 125. One company charges 45 a month while American Home Shield charges 77. But I understand. One company charges $40 a month but it's not the premium one. For example, if your AC rans out, you need to upgrade to a premium or they will not cover everything. I might be throwing away $44 a month. It's very cheap. Right now, I have platinum service.

    I also did a claim for my range and guys came out. In the end, the range was not covered because they found out that a roach went in there. No matter how clean your house is, you could not see those roaches lurking around the house. I understand that. But I wish they covered. That was something that I had to buy on my own.

    We just moved into this home and there's a private power line I didn't know about and it wasn't marked. We had a fence put in because of coyotes in our area and it clipped the power line. They shut all the power off until they got somebody out here to fix the wire. But I had to pay $1,600 to get it fixed. Nobody will take ownership of it. Also, it was confusing with the American Home Shield rep because he was overseas. Everybody on their first line of questioning are all overseas. They screwed my account up three times -- canceled it and put it back and then tried to charge me $1,100 for that. I finally got somebody here in America to get it straightened out. But I still have to wait. I have another claim on a bathroom and I still have to wait until the end of this month to get it fixed.

    The air conditioner didn’t work and it was over 100 degrees in this house. My mother called me to say that something was wrong so we came over and she said she has American Home Shield. So I found the paperwork and she was able to call in. The contractor was professional, knowledgeable and let us know about some discrepancies that he noticed. He showed us the old part after he put it in and went through whatever the testing protocols were. He showed me the capacitor, told me the age of the unit and that they only last X number of years, to think about replacement and make sure the filter was changed.

    The air conditioner was making a weird grinding noise and we were scared. So, we had mom back at her nephew's house in case it went out again. So I was here again and the contractor was kind enough to come out on July 4th. He looked at it and said he didn’t hear it. But I had a video of it. He said whatever it is, when it happens, to contact AHS and it will be replaced. But he did the once-over to make sure everything was aligned and nothing was rubbing up against anything. Maybe it was just a small animal. But he did what seemed a thorough protocol. He was even nice enough that he called AHS and did some follow-up questions that I had. And he gave me a callback and explained to me American Home Shield's response and to make a note of it so that down the line, this is how things would go.

    The service was very easy. The person that we spoke to was friendly and knowledgeable, and the agent that my mother spoke to was so sweet. They said it was a two-week wait but when they found out that my mother was 78 years old and bedridden, they expedited the process. And sure enough, somebody was here in three and a half days instead of two weeks, which was super important because that was the first full week of this heat wave that we were going through. So I appreciate that. Even though we moved her to another house. But that was a great option to have.

    I had a leakage in the drain in my kitchen and it was probably the best service call that I ever had. I'm a software engineer and I do not know anything about plumbing.     It's kind of hit and miss with their techs. Sometimes, it'll be where they don't seem to understand what they're doing or don't wanna take the time to figure out the issue. But for the most part, it's good. I wish I were able to request the same techs because I'd like to have the good techs back at times. But AHS changes out their providers pretty frequently so almost every time, it's a different group. Once they get a contractor that's got a lot of really good reviews, they should try to keep them and let go of the ones they're getting poor reviews from.

    I've had some good and some bad experiences with American Home Shield's contractors. I recently had a claim for a leaky roof and the technician came out this past Friday. He repaired the roof and told us at that time to give him a call back if we had any problems at all. Two days later, the roof started leaking again and when we called him, he was very rude and unprofessional. He told us that we shouldn't call him, that we had no business calling him, and that we need to go through the home warranty company. We told him what the issue was and he said he wasn't coming back out. He said it's a three-hour commute and he's not coming all the way out here for a leak. He said that if he comes back out here, it would be to replace the whole roof.

    I called American Home Shield and I told them what happened. I requested to have someone else come out other than that same technician. They put in another call and sent the same one back out but he didn't come out. He just called in and told them that he came out. He gave the same diagnosis and gave me a $1,500 estimate. I called American Home Shield yesterday and I told them he did not come back out. I talked to my tenant and no one came out and he did not call me or my property manager. There was no way for him to give a second diagnosis without going in to look at the leak to see where it was coming from to make sure it was the same issue. It's very frustrating.

    American Home Shield emailed me this morning and told me I owed $1,490 if I wanted him to come out and repair the roof. I called this morning and I was very adamant about them sending someone else. I said that I don't want him to come out and I'm not giving him $1,500. He should have fixed the roof the first time and if he couldn't do it, he should have said that he couldn't do it.

    I have 13 contracts with American Home Shield. All of my rentals are with them and I hardly ever have any issues. So, when I have an issue like this with someone that's very unprofessional, doesn't know how to do his job, and just trying to do it for money, then I have a problem with that. I'm really thinking about just leaving American Home Shield and taking my business elsewhere because this is totally unacceptable.

    The bearing on the washer was making a loud noise and the technician checked it. He said the bearing was bad and they would put in a claim and let me know about those. I got a call a couple of days after, stating that the claim was denied because it was not a mechanical issue. That was not right, so I asked for a second opinion. American Home Shield gave me a second company and the technician came out. He said it was a mechanical issue. The bearing was bad. So, he put in a claim and it was approved to replace the washing machine. I already got everything in. AHS gave me a code and I got the value. I went on the website, chose one and I ordered it. It was brought in and installed.

    The only thing I don't like about American Home Shield is that the guys that they hire to come out and check the equipment are Mama and Papa companies. I did a few repairs through AHS, one was my garage door opener, and the guy refused the claim. The technician who came out said it was not covered. AHS is using these local companies and they don't want to put the claim in. AHS needs to have better companies coming out to do these repairs. I called the first company about 100 times and no one returned the call. The dryer was not drying properly and the clothes were still damp. And I'm still having the same issue but I can't deal with it anymore. The technician came out and changed a part but the element is going bad because the clothes are still not drying properly. I have to dry them twice and there are not many clothes. I use it all the time. If AHS can replace the dryer, that'd be awesome.

    American Home Shield has been awesome. We're happy with them and we're gonna continue to go with them until something causes us not to. The last tech that came out for the air conditioning was amazing. But we had difficulty with the one prior. I called out to get our annual complimentary HVAC system check. After the repairman did the check, he didn't put the wires back on the compressor and plug it up like it was supposed to be. We thought it was a problem because it wasn't blowing cold air. Certified Comfort had to come out. When they came out, the repairman told us, "The other gentleman didn't put the stuff back in. I got a picture for you. I'm just gonna put it back in and that's it." He was there less than five minutes.

    I called American Home Shield to let them know that the gentleman that they had sent out to do our complimentary service caused a problem. I told them I wanted a refund for him coming out because we had to get somebody else out there. The person on the other line was going back and forth with me and telling me, "As a complimentary effort, we will refund you half your money." I said, "It's not complimentary. The guy that you sent out did not finish the job properly. We are in a heat wave. My family and animals are without heat for three days, and we have to call somebody else back out to fix the problem. Stop saying you're gonna complimentary give me my money back that I owed because he didn't do his job properly." She end up changing her tone and wording.

    I pushed to have the home warranty, but I wasn't expecting it was gonna be worth it. When something is ruined, most people buy another thing because that's it. Our washer has had a problem, and when I had the first company come in, I didn't have a very good experience. The second time I requested service, American Home Shield brought the same contractor.

    On the third time, when I had a problem with the washer, I asked Home Shield, "Please, if there is another contractor that you guys deal with, I would prefer to have somebody else because it doesn't seem they're getting my problem fixed because it's getting worse." The person on the phone was very respectful, professional and did their job right. Home Shield sent me another company, and my experience was amazing. It wasn't fixed but I was told me I needed a replacement for it because it was gonna ruin the entire house. I have it in the second floor, and it might be breaking and the water would come out of it.

    When our air conditioning was not working properly, I called the number to submit a service request. American Home Shield contacted the company, then they contacted me to make the appointment. The first two guys that came were there 20 minutes, and they replaced something on the air conditioning unit, but it didn't seem to work properly shortly afterwards. I called back and told the company, and they were initially going to send the person out in three days.

    I called on a Friday and they were gonna wait until the following week, but when the rep looked at the heat index and how hot it was getting in my area, she managed to get someone else out the next day. I was thankful. The other guy came, checked out our unit and confirmed it still wasn't working properly. He was there about the same length of time as the first two guys, but he didn't replace anything. Whatever he did though, our air conditioning unit is working fine now.

    So I bought a new home and got a new home coverage…sounds good right…since it came with the house I decided to use it when I found a leak and some electrical issues…. 2 weeks and $200 later I feel like a fool. Total scam… They send their providers… After you pay $100 and they do zilch but give you what would cost others nothing… an estimate. That is bad enough but they use providers who recommend “modifications “ in their estimate, which of course provides American the out they need to not pay for the repair. So there you sit… $ 100 gone and feeling like a fool because you fell for the scam.

    My breaker kept getting flipped. So the power on that part of the house wasn't working. The contractor came out and it was fixed. But then we realized that it was the fan that kept switching it. So then I had them come out to do the attic fan. I really appreciated who came out and how they handled it. It was the same company, but different people came out every time. American Home Shield is great to have, especially if you live by yourself and don't have anybody that's handy around, but they are not always the easiest to deal with.

    Our refrigerator stopped working and everything fell out of the freezer, and the water came out onto the floor. They said it would be between 3:00 and 5:00 but the guy got there pretty early. He was very professional. He did an amazing job.     My experience with American Home Shield has been good and bad. I had a job that I had a hole in my bathroom wall because the pipe burst. I asked for them to come and fix it. They did come and fix the pipe. However, they left a hole in the wall. When I called them and let them know that it wasn't done, they said they sent a gentleman out and he never came out. It wasn't until four months later when I did a follow-up myself with him personally for him to come out and do it. He did a halfway job. It's what they would consider repaired, but I would still have to have somebody come and paint it now because they just left it as is. This was with Appliance Repair Service. I do everything online with AHS. Once the guy didn't come out, I called. A representative was supposed to call me back, and they never did. That was what made me contact them personally. From past experiences, AHS really doesn't cover a lot. There's a lot of fine print. I'm close to canceling them for that reason alone.

American Home Shield is the best investment I ever had. I'm paying $68 a month, which is affordable for me, instead of being able to come out of pocket with a whole lot of money in one lump sum if I needed to. So it works out for me.

    There was water backing up in the dishwasher. The techs came for the garbage disposal and they were prompt. They were also courteous and efficient. They moved the hose around under the sink to make sure that the disposal wasn't clogged. Try American Home Shield. The come-out price is a little too high but that's because of the area. It's cheaper in some parts where I have other properties. Other than that, the monthly price is pretty good. They've been easy to contact and quick with giving me a contractor.

    Prime Plumbing Services came out when my toilet wouldn't flush. They were professional. They fixed the problem initially and then the toilet acted up again. They came back out and fixed it again. They also let me know what they did. I like the 30-day workmanship guarantee with AHS. If something isn't fixed properly, they'll come back out and fix it again for no charge.

    When I call them, they send a tech right away. The only problem is that the fees keep getting higher and higher. I tried to talk to them about it but they never contacted me. The times I've needed to reach customer service, they were okay. But I had one problem where it was difficult to communicate what I really wanted. Other than that, the tech who came for my recent claim was really knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing. He was friendly and ver professional. I had a very small area to work in and it was a little difficult for him but he was patient. He came back a second time to fix my ice maker so I didn't have to put in another claim for that. It was part of the first service for the fridge.

    I like that AHS overs most of the things I might have a problem with. The only thing is that they take the fee right away. I called them one time to fix a water heater and the fee was really a lot to get a replacement. It was a little too much but they said that's the way the policy works.

    The AC unit was running constantly. The contractor said that there was an air filter that was in the condenser or the main part of the system itself that we were not aware was in there. It was limiting air flow. They resolved that. Overall, it's convenient to have American Home Shield. We could file a claim if we have any sort of issue and they offer a pretty wide range of coverage.

    Some of the communication has been a little bit difficult. Everything is a computer and you can't ask a computer a question that it isn't programmed for. That's been a bit of a challenge for me. However, they've been very good about some of the repairs. On Monday, I'm supposed to get a stove replacing my old stove that they can't repair. That gives them super brownie points with me, although it took a couple of months.

    They set up a time and I printed out the date and time it was supposed to be delivered. But I went back to my computer and it said I wasn't set up. I called them and they said that because they hadn't done the order form as detailed as it should have been, they reissued it. That meant I had to re-sign up for delivery. But the computer just told me I didn't have it and I had to make a phone call. It's working out beautifully, though. It was just a little glitch that I'm sure they could fix with a small programming thing. Other than that, they upgraded my stove to make sure that my old one will be hauled away, which is a nice thing.

    Also, there was a heater that I tried to have fixed but they were unable to repair it and I ended up getting a new one. They were not able to cover it and I wasn't told how much it was going to cost me as a co-pay. I was really surprised when it ran into several hundreds of dollars. More communication would have been more helpful. But with this one with the stove, they went online and the lady walked me through it. She was on the phone with me while I was working on the computer. It's a beautiful system. I had a person I could ask questions and I had visuals.

    Over the years, I've had my air conditioner serviced twice. The man came and fixed my air conditioner, and everything was fine. They're really quick. I called American Home Shield and in a couple of days, they were here. I pay my deductible. That's all. I saved a lot of money because if I had to have it fixed myself, I would have paid thousands of dollars, and I only ended up paying 100. AHS is the best thing in the world. It does plumbing things around your house and things that you wouldn't even think about. It does your appliances and it takes care of a lot of things. It will really help anyone that has a fixed income because you don't have that extra money if something breaks down. You got that $100 you can spare, but you don't have thousands of dollars.     American Home Shield had to send Aire Serv out for the air conditioning. The fan was working, but it wasn't blowing any cold air out. The tech had to replace a part, and it works now. We did the claim by phone and whoever we spoke with said they'd take care of it and they did. We were with AHS for a long time. Then we canceled them but then we went back for them because we like them.

    We had an issue with a stopped drain and also an issue with a leaky toilet. I called American Home Shield and Aladdin's Plumbing picked up right away and they took my claim. I was given their name and number. AHS said the vendor would call me and then Camy from Aladdin's called right away and they set something up as soon as they could. I was happy with them. There were roots in the drainage so American Home Shield did not cover that, but Aladdin's Plumbing gave me a good deal. We've always had a home warranty coverage. We've had different companies, but we're happy with American. We've been with them for about a year, but we've been with them in the past, too. They're a good company.

    When I do my claims to American Home Shield on the phone or the computer, it's quick. Whatever company they assign to take care of the work request, they get back with me within 24 hours. The only complaint that I have is when I have to make a phone call. A lot of times, you have to wait a long time. When you finally get through, it's hard sometimes to understand the person that is answering the phone. We do our best to try to get to the issue and it's difficult. I know they're working hard and trying to provide a service but sometimes, it's just hard.

    We just recently had an issue with our AC and we had to do a recall because the issue was not solved on the first visit. It was quick. I did it online, and the company got back with me the very next day and everything went well. With the AC, two technicians told me the same thing and said, "Right now, we check all components, everything seems to be okay." One advised me to switch from one type of filter to another. I don't think that that was the issue, but we followed their advice. Everything is okay so far. We were a little concerned because, here in Arizona, it was the beginning of summer and it was not cooling properly, especially with little ones, and then four-legged kids. But so far, so good.

    AHS sent the same guys before when we had other issues with the AC. We were trying to get the company to finally show up. The problem back then was the Freon and they were having too many calls and too many issues. So finally, I called and said, "Hey, I understand. But please, if you send the technicians then in a few days..." This gentleman showed up and it happened to be the owner of the company. He showed up himself to apologize. We told him, "Oh, no, we understand." We were just a little concerned because we were thinking that, "Wow, maybe our request got lost and everything." When he added the Freon, he told us, "You don't have to pay anything." To us, it was more of the fact that the owner showed up than the actual Freon for free. That says a lot about that business.

    I constantly have to reach out to AHS and argue to get anybody to show up. Half the time, they don't do the complete job which means I spend another six months on the phone trying to get the techs to come back. I have a claim from 2021 that's still ongoing. The main issue is that AHS doesn't reach out when they say they're gonna reach out. I have to spend two hours on hold and jumping different departments to figure it out. Recently, I had two leaky pipes. One was connected to the toilet and the other to our faucet. The contractor didn't speak good English and he wasn't able to explain what was happening. I looked over his work several times and he didn't do a good job because he still needs to finish it. He was trying to fix what I was saying but he couldn't understand it.

    So far, my American Home Shield experience has been good. The only issue I had is, I had forgotten that I had American Home Shield, and when I called and told them that we had problems with the AC, they wouldn't cover it anymore because I already had someone come out and do it. Other than that, I haven't had problems. They sent Appliance Solutions. I had issues with the dishwasher, and I wanted them to check my dryer and my washer, which they did. On the dishwasher, they said it needed a part and they had to order it. They came to my house a week later but I wasn't home, so I didn't know that they were going. I told them to reschedule. The next thing I knew, they sent me a new dishwasher, and have them come out and have them install it. Everything else has been fine with them as well.

    It's very easy to file claims to American Home Shield online. They're responsive. If I'm having issues with any of the technicians that have come out, like I did with the plumber, it was easy to switch to get them to have another company come out. So, they're not very hard to deal with.

    The air conditioning unit was blowing out hot air and it was a holiday weekend. I made a phone call to AHS and I got a telephone prompt. I explained the issue and I was told someone would get ahold of me in the next 24 hours. Then, they sent me a text saying that someone would be in contact and they told me who it was. I called on a Saturday and Infinity Home Solutions called me pretty early on Monday morning and came out within three hours. The tech changed the capacitor in the AC unit and he was off.     I've had one bad experience with American Home Shield but they came back and took care of it. I had an AC problem on a weekend and the contractor said it was gonna take three weeks for them to fix it. It was too hot and I had my family from Georgia down there. I had to get somebody and just got it done. Recently, I had an AC update and we thought there was something wrong with it. The tech said there was nothing wrong. He cleared it out. It took about a week but he came by. He had a good attitude and was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. He was a big help.

    I also had a claim for a dryer that was leaking water. It took a while because the tech had to order a part. But the tech came in the same day the part came here. He did very well. He explained the process and let me know that I wasn't the only one that has these kinds of problems with this dryer. AHS responds quickly. It's just that the people that they contract out to do the jobs may have somebody else in front of me so it takes time. Other than the first AC fix, everything else has been okay. The warranty is worth it. It doesn't matter if you have to wait three extra days. It’s just the money that doesn't come out of your pocket.

    Every experience so far with American Home Shield and all their vendors has been amazing. We bought it the first year that we had the house and we've had the house eight years now. We just continue renewing the policy every year because it's been so good. I submit claims over the phone. I like speaking to the representative because with their automated call system, you will need to pay your $100 to start the claim process. I wanna talk to a person, find out who's gonna come out, and then authorize them to do it.

    All State Plumbing came out recently when I had a leaky water heater. They looked at it and said I needed a new one. They said they would work with American Home Shield to get it done and the next day, they called me to tell me they could come the next morning and fix it. They were prompt and they were able to get it replaced in a little over an hour and half. Also, they cleaned up the mess.

    My American Home Shield policy started on September the 30th of last year. I've had claims for our air conditioning unit. The outside unit failed. The first time, the technician came quickly. The second time, unfortunately, it was around the Fourth of July holiday, so it took a little while, but I was satisfied with them. Given the timing of it all, they got here more quickly than I was afraid they might. The repair was super helpful because the unit is getting close to 20 years old, and the failure mechanism they were gonna fix was gonna be about half the cost of replacing the entire outside unit. So, they gave me the option to upgrade for that additional money, and so, it was perfect. They didn't force me down a road, they let me choose how to spend the money they were gonna offer.

    AHS has used a single provider. It's A-US Air, and they've been very responsive. They did a good job of taking the time to explain the issues and resolving them. So, I've been very pleased. I've had a furnace and two units have had trouble, and AHS not only fixed them, but it was simple, we could do it online, and there was no pushback on payout. I just paid my service charge. With the major repair, once again, it was so simple and easy. I have received benefits, probably 3x of what the premium cost was, and with no argument. It's not how I would have expected it to go, given typical interactions with insurance, so I have glowing reviews for them. It's been a pleasure.

    The most recent claim I had was for my garage door. The spring was broken and I called and submitted a request. Once AHS has contracted the company, they called me and scheduled an appointment. The tech came out and he was friendly and very helpful and the work was completed in 30 minutes. I also had a claim for my refrigerator when the icemaker wasn't working. The tech who came out was very helpful and they couldn't repair it, so AHS purchased me another one -- a better type of refrigerator.

    The only thing with AHS is I wish the turnaround was a little faster. Sometimes it takes longer. I had my air conditioning go out a while back and they had to order a part. I wish they kept those parts on hand for different vendors so it wouldn't take a month because being without air is not very good. I had to rent a portable unit to cool my house. Other than that, it's a great product and I have recommended them.

    My AC was not keeping up with the Texas heat. It was set at 70 and it would get up to 80 in the middle of the day. I went on the website, logged into my account at AHS and submitted a claim. The website was user-friendly. I got who the company was, and then closer to the time that they came, I got the name of the person coming and the estimated time frame.

    His name was Colton. He was fabulous. He was very polite, informative and was talking us through what he was doing. My Freon needed to be recharged. He didn't do it without talking to us first like some people would. He let us know, "This is what it was gonna be." The company gave him the wrong information that I would have to pay for the Freon, but I informed him that I had the Platinum account where I don't have to pay for the Freon. He called, confirmed and apologized. But he was really respectful in that sense as well.

    I asked him his professional opinion if my AC is just too small for the square footage of my house, and he said, “In my professional opinion, yes, I believe that you need a new AC.” If anything else happens with AC, I would love for them to come back out in the future because I had such a great experience with them. I also love the fact that AHS covers a lot of issues that could come up. It also has saved us from being super uncomfortable in our house.

    AHS has been very professional and helpful. They absolutely act like they're there to help you. You're not just a burden to them. I really like that. I had a water leak. AHS sent me to the contractor. We had a couple of weeks because they had to order the parts and then something happened, they had to go through the whole thing all over again. So it took two months when it should have taken one.

    But still, I got a brand new bathroom and a brand new bathtub. The tub was what was holding everything up. Because these manufactured homes, they're specialized bathtubs and they have to be built to fit. The new bathroom looks great. The guys did a great job too. The techs were very professional and friendly. They did their best to help me out. I really appreciated them and I really like them. My second claim was my air conditioner. That was the one that took a while because they had to order again. Because it's a manufactured home and they're not standard-made, they have to be specially built.     For my recent claim with AHS, the refrigerator was leaking. It ended up being the filter for the water. Everything is performing fine now. However, I have had some trouble with speaking with their customer service representatives. It took me all the way around the world to get something. One rep said, “We're gonna give you a free service call.” So, I called to get it. But, they couldn't see it. They couldn't honor this. I said, “I ain't got time.” Also, their accents were so thick. I could hardly understand what they were saying. But as far as the service people that come out, they have been great.     I had coverage already, but the company that I was previously with, I didn't like them anymore. So I googled American Home Shield and decided to go with them. I almost left, though, because they went up on the policy from $65 to 80 something dollars. But then they brought it back down, so it was fine. I like the convenience and the quality of service, as well as promptness. They are always really prompt when I reach out.

    My sink and my toilet were backing up recently. The website of AHS was convenient when I submitted a claim for it. I received a text confirmation that someone was dispatched, and an email from American Home Shield. Within an hour, the plumbing company called me and texted me. The tech was out here within an hour.     We came back to American Home Shield, but it is not the same American Home Shield that we had years ago for years. Their customer service has been outsourced to people who don't always speak the greatest English or understand what you're trying to communicate to them. It's been extremely frustrating.

    Periodically, we pay for two maintenance agreements on our air conditioning because we want them checked four times a year. We have Evans Air who does our maintenance, and they come out twice a year. We have two permanent filters that they take out and wash, and we have two replaceable filters. The other one that we hired is Bannister Plumbing and Air Conditioning. They have great customer service. They started doing air conditioning. We also signed up for their maintenance service because theirs is a little different. With Evans, it costs us $400 a year. With Bannister Plumbing and Air it's a $25 a month member fee, and they come twice a year. We've used them to repair anything so it works out great.

    American Home Shield sent out this one company called Everyone Loves Air. This man that showed up and made me feel uncomfortable. I've told American Home Shield after the first time that they sent him out, "Please don't send this individual to the house anymore." They sent A-US Air and there is a technician named Hector that comes out from A-US from Garland. He is the nicest. He's been around air conditioning for years and he's so thorough. He'll show us exactly what's wrong.

    When I called back, I asked them to send A-US Air each time. They've done things ac couple of times. There's the unit that goes in my boys' bedrooms and the den, and it seems to be the one that always has something wrong. The next time something went wrong, I had Evans Air come out. Since we have this maintenance agreement with them, it only cost us 35 bucks for them to come out. I asked what was wrong with it and they said it looked like the coil had a crack in it.

    I called American Home Shield and US Air came out. They confirmed there was a crack in the coil which made sense of why it was leaking stuff that wasn't supposed to leak. Before that, we had a problem with the emergency switches. They had to fix that. Then they fixed the coil and it worked from March until June but it's not working again. I called in but they said they couldn't get anyone out. They wanted to put Everyone Loves Air on there. I called in and said, "I've asked you guys to not send these people to my house." They said A-US Air was not available. I called A-US Air in Garland and they said they were available on July 4th. This was our third time. I called American Home Shield back and told them A-US Air is available. They said, "They're not available. I cannot put them in our system." It was he said, she said. I was talking to people at American Home Shield who weren't understanding great English and who would not give me a supervisor.

    They told me they would have someone call me from escalation but nobody called me. It was frustrating that I was doing that for days. American Home Shield cancelled my service request, and they wanted to do a new one. That was what went on for days. A-US Air came out and the unit that we have here was when the house was put in. There are two compressors - one of them had burnt and the other one had grounded out. We didn't even know that one of the compressors had been clamped off. I said, "We've been talking about replacing these units one at a time. It already has a new coil in the attic. Let's just buy a new compressor." Hector from A-US Air said, "You need a new compressor. I will turn it in." He only turned in the one compressor. He didn't turn in the other one because we have no idea when that quit working.

    My husband and I called Evans Air. We were going to go through A-US Air because we liked them so much, but A-US Air said it would take six weeks for them to order one and they wouldn't be able to match the price we got from Evans Air. We paid Evans Air the cashout thing and Evans Air, on July 15th, put in a new condenser and it's the one that has a two-stage thing in it. We gave them $6,200. The only person I spoke with that spoke great English was a lady named Mary in the cashout department. She processed it quickly. I would not recommend American Home Shield to anyone. They've sullen our last two years' experience with them. I'm looking into other companies. Money-wise, it's a good deal but you are not able to communicate with the people that you call in and they can't get any reputable contractor.

    In one of the showers, the faucet and the thing that you turn to make the water go out of the shower or the tub, was broken. So it needed something new. I submitted a claim with AHS online and their website was easy to navigate. The guy who came out had the replacement, put it in, and it works now. AHS is a good service but they have some policies that I don't like. I live in a house that was built in 1961, so a lot of the things in it are super old. When the showerhead broke off, the plumbing place they assigned to my claim decided it was because of normal wear and tear. But they wouldn't fix it because we didn't keep the broken part. That was ridiculous because I didn't have any control over the boys that were living down there, and apparently, it broke and they threw it away. It was not fixable since it was torn up pipe and there was no way to use it again. But because it was not present, AHS would not pay to have it fixed.

    The contractor that American Home Shield assigned to us for something was very spotty. For one job, the contractor would be great. But for the next job, it was not. Then American Home Shield would send an email saying, "Hey, did they get back with you?" I said no and once I heard something back from AHS saying that they've talked to the contractor. Then other times they don't. So right now, I'm waiting for a call back from this contractor about a part they said they ordered and it's been two weeks. The last time that I contacted the automated number of AHS, they asked, "Have they done an authorization something?" I put in there no, and then there was no further communication from AHS.

    We have a lake house and we needed a service for its roof. The AHS system was automated for making a claim and it was fairly straightforward. They assigned the claim to a roofer and the roofer contacted us, even though it's a little bit out of the way and most roofers are not that keen on going there. But after a slight delay, they wound up making arrangements to come out and do the repair.

    The company that AHS contracted with was called Resilient Roofing and the guys who came out were good old boys of South Carolina, but they knew what they were doing. They made the repairs and fixed some other things related to the roof that they saw that were certainly things that were not things that they made up. They were just things that were wrong. There was also some other issue with a leak that I wasn't sure if it was a window thing or a roof. They pulled back the siding, figured out what was going on, and caulked the area where the problem was. It's hard to get people to do repairs, so I was happy that they were able to do that. Also, for the cost of the service call, that was a good value for the work done and it alleviated my having to go find a roofer and hope that the guy knew what he was doing.

    We had American Home Shield originally for about 15 years. Then we bought a brand new home where everything was under warranty, so we didn't have them for three years. Then when that warranty dropped off, we picked them up again. This time, we've had them for about two years. So far, the service is very good. We had the dryer went out a couple of weeks ago. We just called and opened up tickets. It was the 4th of July weekend, and they sent somebody out on a Monday. He came in, fixed the dryer, and was gone in 45 minutes. We paid nothing more than the deductible.

    A big benefit of having AHS is not having to worry about a big bill. One of the things that wasn't covered under our new homeowners insurance was the brand new refrigerator. We bought a new refrigerator when we moved into the new house. It was $2,600. It lasted two years and broke. We had somebody come out to look at it, and it was $1,200 to fix it. If we had been under American Home Shield, it would only cost us $100 to get it fixed. We're pleased with AHS. That's why we still have them.

    The tech is scheduled to come back today because he initially thought it was one thing but it's not. He looked at the AC and asked me what it was doing, which I researched, and a capacitor can do that. So, he switched out the capacitor and added some more Freon. But the AC is out again. AMP Mechanical must be American Home Shield’s preferred contractor because this is not the first time I’ve had them. I had them on a refrigerator. They came out and when they got here, they said they were not licensed to change out the compressor. So, they turned the order back in. AHS sent out a different company that could change out the compressor and they determined that changing out the compressor was not to the greatest benefit so, AHS replaced the refrigerator.

    I had a plumbing issue and AHS sent somebody out, which was why AMP got involved because they said okay. It kicked off my AC and the electric company or AMP needed to come out to fix the AC. Then the plumbing needed to be done. AHS made sure each one of those items was done. They had replaced the hot water tank too. I've been in insurance for 34 years and AHS can be streamlined a little better. If I was AMP, I wouldn't be driving an hour and a half. Those people keep having to move and then they come out and then they can't do it. So, AHS wasted their time. But I ended up getting it done. AHS has been good and I would recommend them. I'm thinking about picking them up for my rental.

    I had repairs on a microwave, a refrigerator and a dryer, and the tech fixed everything. The claims process was quick and we never had any problems with the workmanship. American Home Shield said if they can't fix it, they replace it. They replaced the refrigerator, which was good. They couldn't fix it because it was the older model. AHS is A+ I've been telling people about the service. I know another lady and everything was good with her too. But my mother didn't have the same experience I had, which was why I was trying to get her to understand. She didn't have a good experience but I did. When they asked her about the air conditioner, she said they couldn't find anybody. Also, the price went up for her and it stayed the same for me. We haven't had the problems she had and I don't understand that. So, she ended up going elsewhere.

    AHS's service is reliable. However, it is getting a bit expensive. I was looking at other warranty companies to go with. I can get a service for about $60 a month compared to the $95 that I'm paying every month. That's my only complaint. Recently, I had claims for the dishwasher and AC. The claim process was smooth and easy. The techs resolved it. AHS is good for convenience when things like that happen. As long as the technician can schedule you in at a decent time, then it's good to have.

    I submitted a claim online for my dryer with American Home Shield. It was a quick process. It's always convenient and easy to use the online system. It said “service request” at the top, and I scrolled through, selected what the issues were, and then submitted the claim. Then you get a million emails and text notifications about every step of the process and who is coming. The dryer wasn't drying the clothes and it was making loud noises. Two parts were replaced. We had two different people, somebody came initially, and then somebody came when the parts came in. Both were great.

    However, the dryer is making a very loud squeaking noise that was not present before. I submitted a thing yesterday for it. They said that somebody will be coming back. I could select a day, and I selected Friday. But I haven't heard anything else about it. AHS is a great company that you can rely on.     My dishwasher wasn't cycling appropriately. I went online and submitted a claim with AHS. It went really smoothly and easily. They gave me the name of the contractor. So, I knew who to expect. After that, the contractor called and set everything up as far as the time of the appointment. The folks there were really good. The tech changed out the internal panel that controls all the cycles and he ultimately ended up replacing the outer panel. Because when he opened it up, the panel itself had been opened up before. We just bought the house, but it was all torn up. He couldn't put it back on because it was broken. So, that was another visit and he replaced it. It seems to be working perfectly now.

    I have another home. I have AHS on that home when we bought the house in Colorado. As far as I'm concerned, they've done right by the contract. I figured I would use them again. I would also recommend them. As of the number of times that I've used them, they always come through as the contract states, which is a rarity these days. They haven't tried to get out of anything. That, to me, reeks of integrity and that means something to me.

    The sign-up with AHS was quick and easy. I went online and chose which plan would best fit our family, and then had to select it, put my card information in as to how we were going to pay for it. It took two minutes, tops. The service so far has been absolutely fantastic. The fact that when I have a need and I can sign in to their mobile app, give a description and within 24 hours, I get a call from whoever is going to be handling that need. From there, they come out. They're kind and professional, they listen to what our concerns are and they correct whatever issue is going on.

    So far we've had to do one plumbing claim for seals that went out in our toilet and it was leaking everywhere. Another one, we were having an issue with our air conditioner. It kept tripping the breaker and blowing hot air, so an AC technician came out and corrected that issue quickly. We had to pay our $125 deductible that we chose when signing up. But that was the only thing that we had to pay out of pocket.

    AHS is absolutely worth the price because the coverage options that they have can really save you. Especially if somebody has a low-income situation, the deductible is reasonable. They have multiple different plans with multiple different coverage options that you can choose from. They are also quick to handle any issue.     So far, my experience with AHS has been great. I've had them on every home I've owned since I was 25. I've never had any issues with them. My recent claim with IQ Appliance was fine. The only thing that wasn't fine was they had said that there was a part they weren't sure if it was gonna be covered or not. But then, they never got back to me about whether or not they at least filed to try to see if it could be fixed or not. They just left it open. But right now, they put in the paperwork and AHS is looking at it whether or not it's covered.     Macklin Plumbing fixed three leaking toilets. The technician was great. They have done work for us before and I was very glad that American Home Shield sent the same technician for this problem. With American Home Shield, I like the ability to find everything in one place in terms of repair and the peace of mind having bought a used house that you don't know what the previous owner did with it. When things go wrong, American Home Shield helps to correct those problems. However, it has taken a while to get someone to fix my air conditioner. I submitted a claim on June 26th and it took four different companies to finally get it going. Now, the current company is still working on the problem. They had to close out one part of the ticket and reopen it this week.

    The staff person was also trying to call American Home Shield Monday and Tuesday to convey that the ticket's still open and they need permission to try a different way to repair the air conditioner. She spent time on hold and didn't even get the option for the call back. The option to have a call back should be there because that helps businesses. I'm waiting for them to come today to finish the job. It's been three weeks. The worst part is waiting for hours on the phone, on hold, to follow up on current orders that aren't getting finished. Not only is my time being wasted trying to get something fixed in my house, but also my time is being wasted on hold or waiting for a call back. There's also a telephone prompt asking "Do you have an existing claim? Do you have a new claim? Do you have other issues?" The choices don't match the idea that my technician didn't respond yet or thee company closed the ticket, but it's still open.

They sent it to a specialist. The specialist came twice, but he didn't see the problem. He bought a new vent. After he left, in couple of hours, it broke again. I had to call them back and they sent the same person to me. He fixed it. American Home Shield covered everything. I had the same problem last year and they fixed it too. They've raised the cost though.

    American Home Shield has saved us thousands over the years. They fix whatever is going wrong with the house. Whatever they aren't able to fix, they replace. I've had nine homes and I've always had American Home Shield. Recently, our AC upstairs was not cooling. We had someone come out to repair it through American Home Shield. He serviced the unit and let us know that it needed to be cleaned outside. He did something on the furnace, said everything was working cool and left.

    When I came back home an hour later, it was still hot. It turned out that the unit that he cleaned was the wrong unit. He cleaned the one that was working. I had to call them, and they sent him back the next day. He came and everything was working fine, cool-wise. But when he was working upstairs on the furnace, it was two days later when I came home and there was water pouring from upstairs in that closet where the furnace was down into our kitchen. That was when I called for the third time. I requested a senior technician, and they sent an older guy who had been with the company longer. He ended up having to do something upstairs with the furnace and blowing out some debris. The unit is now running cool.

    I had to get my dryer fixed, and we waited for a couple of days before they were able to fix it, but they did it fast. I also had a fan out. They came by and replaced the motor. Whenever I have a claim, I call American Home Shield and tell them what the problem is. I wait for them to schedule something. The contractors call me and we schedule the appointment. If they want me to use my phone to show them what the problem is, they send me a website and I use my camera and show what's wrong with the device.

    We called American Home Shield for the HVAC and within minutes, they sent out the text and the email with the service provider that was going to fix it. I called the company and asked if they could come out that day. They said, "We might if it's considered an expedited request from American Home Shield." We called American Home Shield back, talked to someone, and got everything sorted out. They reached back to United Air with an expedited request. It was within two hours of the initial phone call to American Home Shield that United Air was at our house and fixed the air conditioner. That was world record, especially on a holiday. It was the capacitor. The repairman had one in his van, swapped it out, and that was all it took. He checked the freon and for us while he was there. Before that, we got a dryer replaced. Every time I think about canceling, something big breaks and we get it covered with American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has more comprehensive coverage and the limits per appliance is higher. We used them for the rekeying service that came with our plan. We also had two other relatively simple issues, and they were able to take care of them very easily. One concern that I had was when I signed up with American Home Shield, I tried to be very clear that I wanted my swimming pool equipment and my spa covered. We had a problem with the spa two weeks ago. They were saying they were sending somebody out. Each time, the contractor called and told us they don't do tubs.

    By the fourth time, the company called and said, "Not only do we not do hot tubs, we reviewed the coverage for you, and you don't have coverage." It wasn't American Home Shield that told me I didn't have the coverage, it was one of the contractors. That wasn't very good. Apparently, the coverage only covered an in-ground spa that shared common equipment with the swimming pool. My portable spa was therefore not covered, and it cost me quite a bit of money that I wasn't planning on spending. I was not happy about that.

    American Home Shield could make sure that their customer knows what they're getting and what they're not getting and not have to go through reading the fine print. Even as I read my contract, it was extremely confusing to me. When December rolls around, I'm going to find a company. If American Home Shield does not cover the spa for a reasonable cost, I will not be able to use them again. I'll have to go with the competitor. But for the things that are clearly covered, they did a good job arranging people to come out.

    My AC quit working the beginning of July in Texas. Temps of 104 and 105 every day. Took a week to get someone out. He said unit needed to be replaced. AC is 17 yrs old. But only the inside not the outside unit. Total cost was $4400 of which AHS agreed to pay $2200 only. Then I did not like the reviews of the contractors they sent. Did not want them to replace my unit. Asked to choose my own company and was told that was not allowed. So I ended up hiring my own company and had units replaced the same day at my expense.

    The AHS contractor needed another week to order parts and then another week before they could install it. I called AHS to cancel my contract and was forwarded to a supervisor who told me that I was misinformed and could have been allowed to choose my contractor via an Outside authorization. She spoke to her manager and then told me to have my AC company to send a receipt and gave me a dispatch number as well as her initials to put in the email. She said they would look at what they could possibly reimburse me for.

    The next day my email was returned to me saying it was not an outside authorization so she gave me the wrong email. So I called again today. This rep tells me that she gave me incorrect information and that I can only be reimbursed the $100 service fee. The runaround and changing of rules is unreal. Not to mention they were only going to pay $2200. Here in Texas new systems cost a minimum of $12,000. My monthly contract fee is $100. I have had them for over 2 years. What a waste of money!

    I had an older AC unit. It's outdated that uses the R22. The tech said it would cost a lot to keep putting Freon in it. It kept leaking the Freon out. They could see what they can do to repair it, but it would be easier just to upgrade to the new system that uses the 410 Freon. I opted to get a new system. Everything is fine. American Home Shield is a decent company. It covers the items that I would possibly need repair in the future.

    I called them, and they gave me Hollywood Air's number. I called Hollywood Air the next morning and everything was resolved. I've had a decent experience with American Home Shield but I wish they have better customer service. In order to talk to somebody now, you have to give a credit card first and if you don't, you'll be waiting for a long time. The customer should be able to talk to someone and not just have to give their credit card.

    The techs were knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. They resolved each problem the first time. The techs do what they need to be done, get things back up and running. And American Home Shield covered it. In years past, AHS has saved me money. One year, I needed Freon for the AC. And even though they gave $10 off a pound, I had to pay over $1,000 to get Freon. That wasn't nice, but we needed it. And I've had to pay for parts before. Also, they made a change where if I had two different things that were wrong, like the AC or the appliance, those are different service charges. That's a bit much. I got both the AC and refrigerator done this month. Whoever works on refrigerators or appliances doesn't work on AC.

    When we pay for the service every month but we don't have to use it until something breaks down on summertime, that's money that we're giving away during those months that we don't need to use it like for the ac during winter. AHS should offer something. We've been paying all this money. And I gotta pay them an additional $80 for a service charge. But now it has gone up to $123 a month. And I don't get to use it.

    My refrigerator water thing didn't work for two years. And I refused to pay for it. First, the guy said, “You can put two things on one claim.” I called but they said, “No, you can't.” I was upset about that. I paid $160 for somebody to come out. And all they did was injected some hot water up in the tube and thawed out the water. All of a sudden, it started working again. $80 service charge for that. That's a bit much.

    Half the size of the length of a pinky finger had burned out on the AC. The tech came and said, “You just got a burned-out wire.” He replaced the wire in half a second and was out. I didn't have to pay for that. But I've already paid $98 every month. And I'm paying $160 for two different service charges, $80 and $80, for what needed to be done. That's a rip-off for having been with AHS for so long.

    The AC guy recommended, “You should get your AC cleaned at least once or twice a year, once in the winter, once in the summer, ‘cause it's really dirty and you should get it.” Maybe AHS should offer that to me free of charge. Give me some incentive to stay with them. My husband and I are thinking about canceling them and going with somebody different.

    I hate American Home Shield warranty. The only reason why I kept them is because it's a rental property and sometimes, it's easier for me to call and pay the $75 for somebody to come out and look. But they don't pay for anything. One claim was with my hot water heater. When the hot water heater was installed, it was installed according to code. They put in the brand new hot water heater. It was to code standard. But codes change from time to time. We don't know when they change, but they upgrade. You gotta make upgrades. But American Home Shield warranty doesn't pay if it's an upgrade.

    I had the option of putting in a hot water heater that did not need the code upgrade. If I had went with the company that they said, I didn't have a choice but to put in their water heater. But if I went with another company and they put in their recommended hot water heater, it did not require the upgrade. American Home Shield warranty didn't pay for it. So I had to come out of my pocket for almost $1,100 to get my hot water heater fixed. I didn't like that at all.

    Recently, the line on my air conditioning broke. The contractor said that it wasn't because of normal wear and tear. So I had to pay $850 dollars to fix it. Plus, the $75 that American Home Shield warranty charged me for someone to come out. American Home Shield will pay for small things, like an electric outlet that isn't working. But they didn't pay when I had a water spout that leaks out of my basement to the outside because it was an exterior issue. So I had to call my own plumber out to have them put the shutoff valve on the inside so it wouldn't leak. That was $400.

    When the electric outlet wasn't working, an electrician came out and fixed it. I paid $75 for them to fix one outlet. This happened about four years ago and I'm getting ready to call them back out because the outlet is not working again. When this usually happens, I'll walk through the house and I have them do all the electrical issues together so it'd be worth my money.

    My water pump on the furnace failed and it was under $100. But I could have just had my own person come out and fix it. But because I pay the money for the American Home Shield warranty, I had them come out. Overall, the contractors have been helpful. But there was one contractor that wasn't responsive. But that was the only time I've had an issue with the contractor. Everyone else has been pretty nice. I've had American Home Shield for 20 years and my rate increased from $54 to $71.

    I had an issue with my garbage disposal. The tech showed up within four days. The disposal was completely damaged and he replaced it within 10 minutes. He answered my questions. I was really happy with his service. But I have one dissatisfaction with AHS. I've been a member for seven years and when I started, my monthly payment was $34. Last week, it has increased to $65. If I have to pay $60 a month, I can put that into my account for a rainy day. If I don't have any issue for a year or two, that could be close to $400. They shouldn't increase the monthly fee. Most of my house equipment are brand-new so I'm not gonna have any problems for 10 years. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with my warranty. AHS has very friendly service and they're very responsible.

    We had a hot water heater replaced. The tech that came out was great. He was very friendly, nice and professional. He knew what he was doing. He also cleaned up after himself. The only issue I had was that after that was replaced, we all of a sudden had no hot water pressure in our bathtub upstairs. It worked perfectly fine before he changed the heater. The contractor would do it, but I would have to put a claim through to American Home Shield and it would end up costing me another $100. So I'm not doing that.     We were having trouble with our HVAC unit. The controls and thermostat would just turn off sometimes downstairs. I filed a claim on my phone on the internet. The American Home Shield app is pretty good overall. There have been times when I thought it was a little clunky or there were not as many options as I needed. It seemed like there wasn't quite a perfect category. But with this claim, it was fine. A guy came out within two days. He checked in with us and we told him what was going on. He seemed to instantly have an idea of what was going on and went to work. He fixed the unit in 25 minutes. He said it was a drain issue inside the unit.

    Every house is different and people need to take into account whatever they think their house needs versus how much they're gonna end up paying. For us, having the warranty has been almost entirely worth it. At worst, we've broken even when it comes to how much we're paying them and how much we've had replaced. We've also definitely come out ahead. We had a water heater break and that was somewhere around $1,500 and we're paying 700 a year. The warranty is of pretty good value overall.

    The thing is there should be transparency around the reason for rate changes and why costs go up. Another would be the ease of use of the website and making it a little more user-friendly or expanding the options for reasons why you're having a call come out. They drill it down into, "Oh, it's this part. This is what's wrong with it." But they may only have five options for what's wrong with it.

The rep was very nice and helpful. The contractor came out Saturday. They diagnosed the issue and said they needed to get a part. They said, "The part will be in in four to five business days."     We've had so many problems getting American Home Shield to fix things properly. We've had somebody out for the air conditioning a couple of times a year every year. It's insane. One time, they sent out this contractor who we keep calling out but weren't fixing the problem. They would come back out and they would keep diagnosing something else. They got to the point where nothing was working and getting fixed and they said, "Well, it's this and it's not covered so you'll have to call another AC company." We told AHS we don't want that contractor back. They sent another company out who did a fantastic job but there were things that weren't covered. We went and got the AC fixed out-of-pocket.

    Then, we tried calling them out for the heat pump for the pool but they don't fix anything above ground. We had a leak underground in the pool and they don't fix anything underground. It seems like everything that we file a claim for isn't covered. Also, I had a high-end refrigerator in the house and they gave a bargain replacement for the refrigerator. That's like driving a Mercedes and it gets totaled and the insurance company says they wanna replace it with a Yugo. I've been very disappointed.

    The toilet's valve shut off. When I want to make a repair, it's very easy to navigate American Home Shield's website. And very quickly, I would get the name of my contractor and they would call me. AHS is very good in general. The only issue I have is two years ago when the air conditioning upstairs died, AHS could not find a contractor which had ladders that were tall enough to go on my roof. I called the company that installed the air conditioning and they had the big ladder. So, they came, but I had to pay for that. I could not use AHS because the company was not part of AHS. Their air conditioning contractor doesn't like to work on taller houses. Other than that, I was very pleased with my experience.

    The warranty has helped out. Right after I got AHS, my dishwasher went out. But they didn't replace the dishwasher I had. They gave me money for a new dishwasher but I had to pay an extra $300 to get the one I had. I had a Samsung but they were trying to give me a Frigidaire. Also, I had a claim for my dryer. The tech came within a few days. But AHS had to send a second technician because the first one didn't resolve the issue. The first tech said he put a new part in. But the second tech said gave me the part he took off and he said it was the same part. So, I reported the issue to AHS.

    I like that it's only an $89 service fee which is not bad. My AC fan wouldn't shut off even in the off position. Home Shield sent somebody to fix the problem. But the claim took three weeks because they had to order the part through the manufacturer. When they finally brought it, it wasn't programmed so they had to send it back. It was another week but the AC got fixed before the heat started.

    My claim process for my fridge was not very easy. The AHS rep was telling me the contractor could not come before Wednesday. I end up telling them, "Give me the phone number of the contractor so I can call them to see if they can come and help me."I called and explained my fridge is not cooling and that we were gonna lose more than $600 in food. They said, "We're going on vacation but we can come." The contractor was very nice and they helped me on time. They noticed the urgency of the matter and they made the fridge work. I'm very happy with them.

    But I'm not happy with AHS because they told me they're not gonna cover the handle of the freezer. They think it's malfunctioning and it was me who pulled out the handle. It was not misused.     I've always been able to resolve all the issues but sometimes, you find out that American Home Shield doesn't cover something. And I've had times where people have come and it's very obvious that they're not local. They've traveled a long way and sometimes show up in their own vehicle. And that means they don't necessarily have the part with them. They would have to order the part and get it 10 days later. I'm in a situation right now where the gentleman was here a week ago, Monday, to replace my fan. He said it was working when he left. The next day, it was not working. I called the company and was told he just quit and they won't get it back out to me until next week. I have not talked to American Home Shield about it yet because I'm hoping that this company will come through for me.

    Making a claim is not simply making one phone call and somebody shows up at your door and fixes and walks away. Sometimes, it takes a little more follow-up on my part. AHS is doing the best they can but I'd like to see them have more contractors and local ones available to address the issues faster. AHS replaced an air conditioning system seven years ago. I have older appliances, air conditioning systems, and other parts of the house that I maintain my AHS warranty to cover those items. So if they fail, they would either be repaired or replaced.

    I call American Home Shield and tell them what's wrong with the appliance. Then, they find one of their dealers or whoever they have contracts with who are close to us. We make the appointment and the contractor comes out. My refrigerator was not cooling and I was having a bunch of people over for the 4th of July. So, I called AHS and they had somebody out here in two days. I had the freezer packed too full and it wasn't getting the airflow, and the tech cleaned the coils. The contractor has been out here before. Trevor, the tech, is from Marshall, Missouri, which is an hour away and he does an excellent job. I would recommend AHS. So far, they've done excellent jobs for us too. When I call in, they get a hold of somebody and they're out here within a reasonable time. We haven't waited over a week.

    There was barely any pressure on the hot water side of the shower. The tech showed me that the problem was a piece of plastic in the hose. He showed me how he fixed it. Usually, when I put a claim in, the techs call me later the same day and come the next day. I was satisfied with how promptly AHS took care of my issue.     Sometimes, American Home Shield’s website just generates a random company assigned to your service request and we usually like to pick the companies that we've done before and have good reviews. It's easier to get the same company if you call them or AHS directly instead of doing it online. The waiting times are short and AHS is able to create the service request easily, without any issues. So, dealing with customer service has been simple and easy. Our upstairs AC wasn't cooling properly and we wanted to get AC Wizard since we've done them in the past so I called AHS. The contractor had to refill some of the Freon in the outside unit and resolved the issue. The AC is working as it should be.

    If you have the service, use them for any issues you might have with your appliances. Overall, it seems quicker and more cost effective than having to manage it yourself. So, it's a good experience. There's a lot of dependency on the contractor that's assigned to your ticket but as long as it's good quality, everything works out smoothly.

    My latest claim to American Home Shield was for replacing an electrical outlet because it was causing other outlets to go dead randomly. The electrician from Hopwood was very good and did it very quickly. We never had a problem again. So far, so good. The Home Shield folks were great on the phone, and everything was quick. Since I'm a first time homeowner, it's nice to be able to call and have things taken care of. Also, since it's an older house, to be able to have the home warranty is good also. The only thing that we ran into trouble with was when our cooktop went out. I called Home Shield and the automated system told me that my plan didn't cover cooktop. I should have gone through to a person and talked to them. I replaced my cooktop off of that information. Once you do that, there's nothing they can do.

    In the five years that I've been with American Home Shield, I've not used their services once, except recently. My air conditioner went out, and I had to wait eight days to get any services. They responded promptly, but the agency that is contracted under them did not have any availability. When the agent came, he told me that my air conditioner needed Freon and it would be an additional price, which was fine. However, after he told me the additional price and I paid it, he also told me my air conditioner had a leak in it, so it's slowly leaking Freon. I asked him, “Could that be fixed?” He said, “No. That would have to be a different service.” I didn't understand that. He was positive, friendly and sounded well aware, but another service call was gonna cost me more money.

    When I called American Home Shield to tell them what happened, they advised me that that was not the truth. If that wasn't the truth and these are the people they work with, somebody should have contacted them and did something. There was no resolution whatsoever, which bothered me even more. That was very disappointing to me because that means that the person who did the services was trying to get more money by not fixing it. They could have killed two birds with one stone at my home, but they didn't. I didn't like that. I’m gonna need more Freon, and I'm gonna have another bill. I considered leaving American Home Shield and going with another company, and had I not been in a contract, I would have.

    American Home Shield has been very good. They schedule right away, and I've never had a complaint with anybody that's been sent out. The contractors AHS brings in are very professional, very nice, on time and fix whatever needs fixing. I've been very pleased with them. I did a service request online when I had a leak in my bathroom sink and a leak in the kitchen faucet.

    The repair people scheduled within a day, and they were in and out. They explained what they found and fixed the leak. It was very easy. However, I am canceling my American Home Shield policy as of August 1st because I've sold the house and a new contract has been done for the new owners. It was part of the closing agreement, and they'll be using American Home Shield. That's how pleased I was. It offers peace of mind, especially for refrigerators and air conditioners that can cost a lot of money to replace if they break. Homeowners don't have to sit there going, "Oh, gee, do I have 15 grand to put in a new air conditioner?"

    I contacted AHS for a service on my air conditioning unit and it was resolved very fast. The tech was called the same day and he was very knowledgeable. He went right to the source, found exactly what the problem was, and took care of it within two hours. If you have old appliances and things in your house that might need to be repaired, AHS is a good thing. But if everything is good, by the time that you do need something, it's usually going to cost you more in the long run. So, the time that we've been here in this house, we paid American Home Shield monthly payments and it totaled up to what the air conditioning would have cost had we had to replace it outright.

    I've received some contractors that were not so good from AHS. But the last couple of times I've used them, I've been pretty happy with what they've done. I had techs out for the repair for my water heater, salt water pool, salt cell, and air conditioner. The claims process was straightforward and easy. The works got scheduled when they said they were going to schedule them within the timeframe and the techs usually got to us in about a day after the works got scheduled.

    But sometimes, when they came out to do the diagnostic, they couldn't resolve it the first time. So they had to come back. Or they had to order a part, so it ended up taking a little bit longer. And then, they'd do it by elimination. So they'd try one part and if that didn't eliminate the problem, they'd come in and order something else. Then they'd come back in the next couple days and try that. So that was a little bit lengthy when they did that with the water heater versus having all the parts needed to be able to quickly diagnose and fix the issue. Other than that, AHS covered all the repairs.

    I always tell people American Home Shield does a good job. I call them, they come out here, fix the problem and no issues afterwards. I like their website as well. It's very useful and convenient so that I don't have to call, 'cause I don't always like to call in and then wait for someone to pick up. Doing it online is quicker. If I know what the problem is, I go through there and just knock it out.

    I did a service request online and I got a text message saying that American Home Shield reached out to the people who were gonna come fix the microwave. I got in contact with the repair people the day after then they came out here and to diagnose the issue, it took about an hour and a half. They found out what was wrong and ordered the parts.     I had a dryer go out and when I made a claim with AHS, it took five days to get somebody out here. With the power out we've had in Memphis, it took an additional five days on top of that. So, it was understandable. I knew I had the power out and he couldn't work on it. When he came out, he replaced a fuse and it was all it needed to take. He was on time and extremely efficient. I also had a problem with the dishwasher and the clothes dryer, and I was really pleased with the guy who came out to check it out. He got it working with a quick call.

    Then, I had a problem with my washer where a belt broke in the thing and the washer started flooding the kitchen. I know you can turn the water off of the pipe, but I had a tub full of water that was already washing and that was what was draining. So, it flooded into the dining room and the living room, where I had the new carpet. I called American Home Shield and the first company they assigned was Greenway. They said they'd be out in five business days but it was the weekend, so that meant it was going to be Friday, Saturday, Sunday, then they got five days on top of that. They said that was in their contract that they didn't have to be out here for five days. On the other hand, AHS would say that they'd guarantee somebody would be out here within five days.

    So, I canceled the thing, had the water cleaned up, and I had to turn off the dryer. I got a company called A Plus and they were out here within an hour. They got the thing turned off and patched up. And the other company came out within two hours, had the water all vacuumed up, and had fans in there. Then. the carpet company that had just installed the carpet got out there the next day and replaced the carpet that had been damaged with the water. So, everybody else I called was able to come out and take care of the water damage. That stuff would leak under the baseboards and the refrigerator, plus I had a video of the thing overflowing, but Greenway didn't care. They took that leniency of the five-day timeframe and turned it around on American Home Shield.

    So, when I call AHS, I always request them not to send Greenway. And for whatever reason, Greenway seems to be the one that always pops up first. They call Greenway to send them out, then I have to call back the next day and cancel the contract. It has become a pain. When you have an emergency, that's when the contractors let you down. So, generally, American Home Shield is competent in getting people out to do the job. But in an emergency, I was severely disappointed with them. The way they've got the contract set up allows for incompetent contractors to take advantage of it. In fact, I got a new central air and new kitchen appliances now and I was just talking to my sister about cutting them off this year because if I need the washer and dryer, I'm going to have have to pay for that anyway.

    Also, the price has gone up from $75 that's been for years, to $100 for a service charge. The monthly rates have gone up, too. The cost of American Home Shield is $800+ for monthly service, then if you have any calls or emergencies, it's going to cost you $100 every time someone comes out. So, a guy like me who's on Social Security and makes 2,500 in a year is spending $1,000 on America Home Shield. That's just exorbitant. All in all, when the service works, it works okay. And when it doesn't work, it's atrocious. They're good if they can send somebody out. But if you have a real emergency, you can't depend on them.

    I called AHS and I told them what the problem was. They said someone would contact me and they did. Then, they sent someone to the house to troubleshoot the problem and repair it. The tech was knowledgeable, professional, and patient. He was a very impressive young man. I enjoyed feeling like someone cared and that I didn't have to worry about the thing that was not operating properly. He told me what was going on with the AC and we learned that it was under warranty. So they were able to call the air conditioning people and they replaced the part, then the tech that AHS assigned came back and put it in. Even though he came back twice, he was always focused. Young people are talking on the phone more than they're working, but I got none of that from him. Since he fixed the AC, it's been working perfectly. In fact, it's working too well and now, I'm freezing.

    I also had a thing with the water heater where the water was getting hot in the kitchen but not in the bedroom shower. When the tech that AHS contacted came out, he needed to order a part. I learned that where I thought the water heater was the problem, it wouldn't have been hot in one place and not hot in another. So there was some kind of device in the showers that had to be replaced and the part came two days after it was ordered. Then, the tech came right back, put it in, and adjusted the elements. With both people that I had in my house, there was never any clean up on my part and that is very important to me because I don't like cleaning up behind other people. All in all, when you are paying for American Home Shield, you're securing less stress. So a thing may be broken, but you don't have to find a company and worry if the tech is honest, if they know what they're doing, if they are ripping you off, or if it is overpriced.

    With AHS, I did not have a positive experience. On July 4th 2023, the air conditioner failed. On July 10th, a technician arrived to inspect and found that compressor had seized due to leaking condenser coil. They approved a replacement on July 17th, 2023 (approval of the diagnosis report took more than 6 days), and charged me $880 (citing non-covered fees). They wanted to charge me for electrical line and line set even though we aren't moving the a/c location. Since, I am in need of air conditioner, I agreed to the charges. On July 20, 2023, they ordered the Payne A/C, which was the least expensive option (SEER14) but did not equal the efficiency of my existing air conditioner. My existing air conditioner is Carrier 16 SEER high performance Puron. The contract says that they will replace with similar efficiency.

    Also they are not changing the evaporator coil which is from Carrier. I am not sure how the efficiency is affected. It is very horrible to deal with them. I am without a/c since 7/4/2023 and after paying for warranty, they want to install the cheapest possible equipment. Now, they are trying install a different brand condensing unit even though my HVAC unit and evaporator coil is Carrier.

    American Home Shield is good but sometimes, it takes two weeks to fix the problem. When a repair happens, usually, it takes at least a week and they have to order a part. I'm okay with that. My washer machine got messed up and they took time to get it fixed but it was still manageable. If you cannot wash your clothes for one week, it's not a big deal and they fixed it and they were very professional.

    But right now, I'm running without any AC for the last two weeks with a one-year-old kid in the home and it's a nightmare. They said the part is gonna take two weeks but they are repairing it. They gave me the option to replace the unit itself but it's so expensive. I was quoted $8,000 for a complete HVAC unit and there was no middle ground from American Home Shield for us to both take a hit. I said to the upper management that there should be a better price available to replace the HVAC system instead of paying a huge dollar amount out of pocket. They said they would reimburse me $1,100 if I get this repair by outside people but I didn't. I asked if they could adjust that money in that $8,000 but they said those two are two different invoices and they cannot do it. I went with the repair option, which is a zero-dollar cost for me.

    It is appliance insurance but in this situation, it's really not helping out 100%. There should be a system which could clump everything, interrelate everything, and help the customer at the end of the day. If they would have spent that $1,100 towards that new HVAC system, it would have cost around $7,000 for me and I would have been happy. Other than that, they have been helping out me in a very good way.

    For every claim I ever called in, they always got somebody out here and took care of the problem. All I had to do was pay a service charge and I've called in several items.     Any time I call American Home Shield and I explain what the situation is, they're very professional. They explain the process well to me and they immediately get a technician out. The AC stopped working and it was 90 something degrees in the house. I called them and they assigned Ohohna.     We had some plumbing issues. We've had the contractor out here in the past for air conditioning problems. They've always been real good. I enjoy working with them. They've always been real fair. I called them late in the week and they were gonna send someone out on Monday. Monday rolled around, and I called them to double check to make sure they were coming. They said they called and postponed my service visit. But I didn't get a call or voicemail. When I came home from work and I asked my wife, she said she didn't receive either. So we don't know what that was about.

    The contractor said they were coming Tuesday but then they called me back the next day and said, "Oh, we gotta wait till I think Thursday. Because the person that I scheduled to come Tuesday, he's actually off Tuesday, and I didn't know it." It seemed aggravating to us. We could not use our dishwasher and one of our bathrooms. But that was just that one time. The other times they've come out, they've said, "We'll be there this day," and they showed up that day.

    I'm happy with American Home Shield. I've recommended them to other people to check out and possibly try to go with them. American Home Shield is fine. There had been times that I've called and they said my claim was not covered. But I didn't get so aggravated that I wanted to call and complain. The only problem that I ever had was with the contractor for my plumbing claim. American Home Shield saved me a lot of money. Our house was built in the 60s and the very first year that we lived in it, we didn't have to pay for the home warranty was included. But whenever it ran out, we renewed it. We've been paying it out of pocket ever since and we hadn't regretted that from the first day.

    Having AHS saves me money and it saves me the headache of trying to find somebody to fix things. When something is broken, they send someone out to take care of it and if it couldn't be repaired, it was replaced. I recently had a claim for my stove and my dryer. My stove switched from Fahrenheit to Celsius and I couldn't get it to go back and my dryer was making a loud, grinding sound. It took the vendor a while to get with me because they were on vacation but he was very nice and professional. When he came out, he said they were both easy fixes.

    American Home Shield was not treating me fair on a washer that broke and I escalated it and they took care of it. Submitting a claim is easy. I either go online or call. They automatically deduct my deductible and put me in the queue, and I usually get a call from the contractor. Usually, it's timely. But sometimes not timely enough when it's over 100 degrees outside and my air conditioning breaks and it takes the techs a week and a half to get here. But they fixed it once they got here. All the air conditioner people are quite busy where I live and it’s not unusual to see a week out on air conditioning repairs in summer in Texas. But that's the contractor. American Home Shield has several contractors, but they give you the one that's got the least lead time.

    I had AHS for two years and this past Saturday 7/15/2023 would have been my Very 1st time using the service. On saturday around 2pm I noticed my 50 gallon water heater was leaking water in my basement, I immediately went online and requested service from AHS, I then received a email on Sunday around 1am of the company that would be dispatched to come to my home,,,around 8am I called the said company and asked if they could come urgently due to the leak getting bigger and more water is starting to drain I then turned off the main water supply but still water was running from the tank and pipes, they informed me they would call me back,,,

    I again called them at 11am and was again told the same thing,,,at this point my basement is flooding , I then went online and found a licensed , bonded and well know company was able to come to my home within 1hr, my water heater had to be replaced and the cost was $2300,,I then canceled the service request with AHS(no one ever called back or came to my home)

    On Monday I called AHS to inquiring about reimbursement and was denied due to me not using a AHS provider...they informed me there is a special process for emergency situations which is NOT in the contract Nor online(so how the hell was a suppose to know)..I was denied to speak with a supervisor however I did speak with 2 escalation reps who were not able to grant me relief , per statefarm the water damage to my walls,floor ect is est at 6k..So basically the 2years of paying for a warranty with AHS was scam..oh btw one rep told me I should have just waited for them to reach out to me...uhhmmm my water was running for almost 2days out of the tank!!

    I've been having problems with my air conditioning unit and the techs have come out several times to try to fix it and it's still not fixed. They go to the unit, check it and ask questions. They've replaced things and when they leave, it's working. But the last time the guy came out, he wasn't probably gone two hours and it started doing the same thing that it was doing all before. But they'll be back out tomorrow. It was the same exact problem I dealt with all last summer and American Home Shield said that they can't recommend that the unit be changed out. They have to wait for May Heating to recommend it. I'm not sure how many more things they can change out before they realize that the unit needs to be replaced. It's over 30 years old.

    I'm pleased with what AHS does but the techs just keep fixing things and then, they come back and then, it'll break. They'll fix it again and then, they come back. My electric bill went up last year because of the unit. Because if it gets hung up and you're not home to turn it off, it just continuously runs and blows out hot air. AHS has its pros and cons. I only had to have one thing replaced and that was my water heater. It's good that the techs come out and replace things. The only thing I'm not pleased about is that every time, if something happens and you call for it, and then it breaks after day 31 and it's the same exact thing, you have to pay another $100. Plus, AHS has gone up continuously every year since I started.

    One of the main reasons why I picked AHS was because of the price. It was a good range. And I understand that things have changed and parts go up as well. Other than that, it's fine. And another thing is, if I have two garage door openers and I call for one, I gotta pay $100 for each garage door opener. But it's actually one call if both doors are broken. Right now, my garage door openers are not working. But it's probably cheaper for us to go out and buy one than to call.

    The experience with American Home Shield has been positive. The washer wouldn’t drain the water and the tech fixed it immediately. I've had this washer fixed twice in a month and this service repair guy had come before for a dryer. But in between the dryer and the washer, it was a different repair guy that I wasn't very confident with. He eventually fixed it but I had some issues with that whole service.
