    The warranty has a good price at $90 a month. I had them repair the kitchen sink that sprang a leak such that I had water everywhere. I had a plumber within an hour. He was most gracious and I liked him quite a bit. It was just one pipe that needed to be replaced. He's coming back for a second problem that we have.

    When I have a claim, I go on the computer and put in a request. American Home Shield almost immediately sends me what company it's gonna be and either I can wait for a day or so until they call me or I can call them right away and let them know that there was a request sent in and give them the number. A lot of times, they'll call me back that day. The last time that I had a claim, the guy came out that day. The coverage is really good.

    I filed a claim online when I had an AC issue. It was a really seamless transaction. I went on the American Home Shield website, said what I needed to be done, and then they had somebody call me.     The claims process went pretty smoothly according to the contract. Our fridge was not working and the tech that came out was excellent. Fortunately, he had a part on his truck to replace the part that was broken for the blower. Overall, the price of service with American Home Shield is good. But their call center is in another country. I barely understand their English. Doing the first call was difficult. We're unhappy with all the companies using foreign call centers to save a few bucks. But sometimes I get an American English speaking person here in the States.

    The air conditioner went out upstairs. I sent in a claim and the contractor called me that evening, even though it was past business hours and got me scheduled for the next day. So, they reacted very quickly and professionally. They were very on time. The tech did exactly what he said he was gonna do. Everything is running. There are times I'm working and I can't just stop to be a mechanic, so it's nice to have that access with technicians through American Home Shield. They're the only company I've had for a home warranty over two houses, so far. I would recommend them. But I wish their website had a sub-comment section when submitting a claim online because some people aren't mechanically fine.

    I loved American Home Shield in the past. For the last thing that they just came for, everything was great. But I've had a problem with something that happened last year and it was very complicated and it took about 20 phone calls. I have a heater that heats the flooring. They had a guy come fix it. When he fixed it, he said that we should give it about an hour or two and everything should heat up. But a day later, it didn't heat up and he wouldn't come back to the job. He said to replace the part. I sent American Home Shield the text from the contractor, and I had to find him because no one works on this stuff.

    When I found him, he actually was with American Home Shield. So, he did the job, but he didn't wanna come back out and finish it and all the lines just needed to be bled. I talked to whoever installed it in the house and he said that there was probably a bubble in the line. But I don't know how to do that. So, I knew what needed to be done and they weren't listening to me. It was a big misunderstanding. I showed American Home Shield the text of what he said to me versus what he told them. Nobody was reading what I sent. He was saying that I said I was going to my contractor. I said, "No. If you don't know what's wrong, I mean, just ask them. Maybe we could figure this out." So, it became very, very involved.

    By the time they agreed to get somebody else out here, it was not cold anymore. So, there's no way to see if it's really working. It's floor heating, so it's radiant heat. They said that I'd basically have a rain check for the fall to use it and I wouldn't have to pay. But the last two times I had air conditioning issues, American Home Shield has been great. The guy came out and fixed the AC, but then it broke the next day because he didn't fix all of it right, and they came back out. So, the company that I used was great. They were fabulous with what I needed to be done for my regular air conditioner.

    I can call American Home Shield 24/7. I tell them what my problem is, they give me an answer and they go through. I can hear them on the computer. They tell me who will come. When something happened, I told them what it was and they told me that they would put in the order and they gave me who would come out then and a number, say if I haven't heard from them in a day or so, to call that number. And what I'm paying for coverage is still good to me.

    We had to have someone come because the water faucets were dripping and I had a plumber. My washer couldn't be repaired, they gave me a new washer. I got a new garbage disposal. And a garage door opener quit on me one Sunday getting ready to go to church. Couldn't raise the garage door and they had someone here the next day.

    When the air first started acting up, I called them on a Sunday and I told him, "We're on extreme heat advisory here in Texas and we're burning up and I need some air." The lady told me, "Stay by the phone. You'll be getting a call." And 6:30 in the morning, the guy called me and said, "Okay if I come over?" I said, "Yeah, come." So, they worked on that thing. They patched the thing, fix it before. But when it couldn't be fixed the last time, they got it running for a while, and it broke. Finally, when the last people said, "This cannot be fixed. It's old. We even patched. There's no more work done." And it was on a Saturday. And he let them know and they texted me saying they would gonna look at my plan. Sunday and Monday came, and they told me that they would replace that unit. They gave me a new, bigger one. They came through.

    American Home Shield texted the contractor. I would have got it sooner than the nine days. But on the Thursday they texted me and said they had to redo a part. I said, "A part? You can't put another part." Lane caught it. When AHS texted them, they were fixing to send the wrong thing because they were keeping them up and would just tell them what they were sending. The guys said no. That's why they had texted me saying they had to reorder. That was Thursday. The following Thursday, I got a call from Lane saying, "We got something for you. Can we bring it?" I said. "Yes. Jesus, bring it." And they brought it out because we had went out and got a little window air thing for the front and we had fans.

    When they came, they said, "All right. Let's get you some air." They went out, did what they did and came in. They were the one who caught the burnt wires from a while back that was on the inside in the garage in that unit. They were good. They were friendly. The tech told me, "I'm putting this in. This can't be done and you need a new unit. Give me two hours. I'm doing what I'm doing. You call them and let them know you can't stay in here." But before I call themed, after they did what they've done, they texted me.

    I got a friend in Dallas and she has just got AHS. I told her to not rid of them. She visited me, I said, "Don't get rid of these people. I've never had a problem with them. This is the biggest thing here. And they say they're going to replace it. Don't care what our friends say. You stick with them. I never had a problem when I call them to come. Within the day, they're here."

    I live in the podunk so it's hard to get service out here. But it's not American Home Shield's fault. Their website is easy to work through. I've always been real pleased when I talk to them. I like that it's right there for me and I know exactly what I'm gonna pay for. I'm in the middle of a claim right now and I'm having trouble getting the guy to come to my house. I had an electrical socket catch on fire. The tech said yesterday he'd be out this morning, but he didn't call or contact me. I contacted him at noon. He said he'd be here around 4:00. He contacted me now and said it's gonna be even later if he comes. But the claim that I had with the AC went real well. The tech was real good.     We've been with American Home Shield for a long time and their contractors have all been good. That's why we renew our policy. Convenience is the biggest benefit to this. You pay 100 bucks and they send somebody out normally within a day or so. They tell you what the problem is. The service fee used to be 75. Other than that, they either repair or replace for 100 bucks now. I like that concept. The ice maker of our refrigerator broke. American Home Shield really good. They had to order parts and that was all taken care of in a couple weeks' time. The tech was fine and everybody affiliated to this was great.

    I like the convenience of being able to come out to my house and fix whatever. I have noticed that since I've joined the program the fees tend to go up every year. But it's still worth it to me to be able to have somebody to be able to come out and service whatever I have going on. That service should continue. I've had good work. I've had one contractor two years ago where we requested them not to come back out because they did not fix the job. AHS switched it to another service provider and documented it in my records not to send that service provider out to my home anymore. But everybody else that I've had have been good. I like the speediness of the service providers, and they have always been professional, and clean up. They didn't leave a mess. They came out quickly and fixed the problem the first time. Didn't even have to order parts. But when I've run into where they've had to order parts, sometimes that could be a bit of a delay. That may not have anything to do with the American Home Shield, but just the shipping process itself.

    I had a weak water stream. So the water was barely coming out of the sink in my guest bathroom where my girls use the bathroom most of the time. Through American Home Shield's online website, I can do a service request. And I just did it that way. It was a fairly easy process. I just went under the service request process. It's already linked to my contract. So the contract services are there and I just check off what whatever issue my concern was. And once I submitted it, AHS would tell me who my claim has been assigned to. They provide me with the contact information to make the appointment. But most of the time, when I've made appointments, they would call me before the 24 hours.

    When I've had to call for customer service for issues that may be unresolved or getting somebody on the line. Sometimes that could be a lengthy process with just getting to the right person and getting the issue resolved. And once I got to somebody, I understand waiting, because I would tell the person and whoever the first representative is. And they would usually have to relate and go to a higher up. We've had AHS on two of our houses now and have recommended them to plenty of family and friends.

    We have had American Home Shield home Warranty for 20+ years. In these years the yearly cost continues to go up as does the out of pocket deductible. The service has declined over the years. We have used them approximately 6 times over a 20 year span. Our latest issue is plumbing, a leak in our crawl space from the kitchen sink to the main line. The service order was placed more than a month and a half ago. No communication ever from AHS, we have had to continually call them and wait on hold.

    The first communication was about their inability to find a plumber in Kentucky out of more than 4000 licensed plumbers in KY. They said we could find our own plumber to diagnose the issue, pay out of pocket and then submit for reimbursement. We were able to get a local plumber here the next day on our own. But then they require the plumber to jump through multiple hoops, first saying they need the plumber/tech to email the issue and cost, the tech does that. After waiting a week, we call to find out what's going on, now they want the tech to call them to explain the issue and the cost. The plumber tries on three occasions to call, getting put on hold each time for which he's working other jobs and can't wait on hold for 10-15+ minutes.

    After another week, I call AHS again and go through more excuses and am told they will email a phone number to me that the plumber can use to get directly through without being placed on hold, it's been yet another week and no email from AHS. Is this going to be an ongoing issue now with AHS, where no one/contractors wants to work for them, so the homeowner has to do their (AHS) job that the homeowners are paying them to do. Disgraceful and poor communication and very poor service.

    My experience with American Home Shield is better than it has been. This last repair I had went flawlessly and it was a privilege to have. But before, I couldn't understand the vendors that came out. They wouldn't talk to me. I would ask them a question a couple of times and they’d get frustrated. Having AHS saves me quite a bit. I've been in my house for 60 years. It's an older home so when something breaks, it’s something that I don’t have the finances to fix. It hasn't been anything huge over the years but I lost my husband in ‘99. So, I depended on American Home Shield after he passed away. The only problem I have with AHS is the response to repairs. The wait can be lengthy and sometimes, that's not always what we as consumers are looking for. It was way before COVID. I have a handicapped son that lives with me and sometimes, whatever the problem was, it wasn't sufficient enough to wait a week.

    Dr. Cool had to come out twice. The first time, they replaced the fuse that goes to the thermostat, then the unit went out again within a day. They had to come back and troubleshoot it some more, and from the call to the day they came back, it took them four days. They replaced the fan and the capacitor the second time, and it's been running good ever since. The repair person was friendly and very knowledgeable. Overall, I've had American Home Shield for many years. It’s a good company, and it's good to have if something happens.

    American Home Shield sent somebody out and in a couple of days, he tried to fix the unit but he couldn’t. So, AHS decided to replace my refrigerator and I just got the replacement yesterday. The whole process was great. It took two weeks but it was not their fault on how fast the refrigerator got to me. The first time we used AHS, it wasn't that pleasant of an experience. But the last couple of times we've used them is way better than the first time. You always hear AHS would replace the appliance if they can’t get it fixed and they did. My wife and I looked at each other and said that was a hell of a deal.

    I've had Sears come out twice which they've been great and I had this guy. He was good because he literally walked me through the whys and even thought that the part that we needed wasn't gonna be able to be gotten. He was very informative. But the first time, AHS gave me a person that wasn’t as reliable to fix the service but we factored out everything they did. The person dropped the ball the first time but since then, everything has been good except that AHS raised their prices 20 something percent. I wasn't happy and I made them aware. And the only thing I didn't like about that was even though the people that you were talking to can't do anything for you, I didn't like the it's okay if you go somewhere else attitude. That was the kind of impression I got when I called up about the price.

    I have peace of mind with American Home Shield. If anything breaks, you can call them, and they'll get you, within at least a day or two, somebody to come and repair or give you an estimate of what's going on. They order a part, and it might take a day or two, and then they come and repair it. It's really cool. They get somebody out usually within 24 to 48 hours. It's usually more like 24 hours. It's fairly quick, but it depends on the day. too. If you call them on a Friday, you don't expect somebody to get back to you until Monday, but there was a time when someone actually got back to me late Friday to make an appointment for the following Monday.

    Antech came out recently because our dryer, which is only a few years old, was making a squeaking sound. It turned out that there are these wheels that make the tumbler turn. I might have called them on a Wednesday, and a tech came out on Friday and had everything and repaired it, and it took about an hour. It's working great now. I have no issues with AHS. They're reliable and the people that they send out are reliable. If you don't like the company that they do send out, you could request another company if you had a bad experience with the company. We did, a few years ago, had a bad experience with the company, and they sent another company out right away. As far as the cost, it's not that expensive. It would cost you more to repair it if you called somebody and you didn't have coverage for it.

    I like that I can still speak to someone at American Home Shield if I’d like to do so, or just open a claim through their menu tree. I'm old fashioned and I do prefer speaking to someone, but I do appreciate the other option because in the past, I would hold for 30 minutes just trying to reach someone. When I had my refrigerator replaced some years back, that was a benefit. They fixed it, but trying to get to the correct department was a hassle. I had an air conditioner claim at the height of the extreme weather. It was not as quick as it could have been, but they quoted me seven days. I called on a Monday and they were gonna come out the following Monday, and then they moved it to a Saturday. They were able to get the AC repaired.

    Most of the technicians have been amazing, professional, friendly, and most of the jobs have been done correctly the first time. With my plumbing, I've had to have them come back maybe a couple of times. In one order, I had an issue with the sink stripping, and then I had my kitchen sink that had some issues, so they have multiple things they had to fix at once. The sink started dripping again on one of the visits, and then with the faucet that they replaced in the kitchen, there was something under it that was stripped and they had to come back and replace that.

    My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for a washing machine issue. It was not completing the spin cycle. I went on the AHS website to do the claim, and it was very easy to use. It was straightforward. It was pretty concise, too. It was easy to describe my issue, and then I quickly got a response that the case had been referred to Sears at the time. It was received and dispatched in a timely manner. Then I was told I should be receiving a direct call from them on coordinating the dispatch.

    The tech was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He communicated ahead of time with his estimated time of arrival. They give you a window of how many hours you can expect the technician. He called and said that he would be arriving within that window. He got here a little bit even early. So, it was well communicated on what time frame they would be there. The technician himself identified himself and what time he'd be here. He was easy to talk to and described what the actual issue was. He knew right away the diagnosis, but he went through his normal process. He had a good idea on where to start. He had to order parts and come back. It was almost exactly one week when they had scheduled the follow-up to be on site.

    Overall, American Home Shield is easy to deal with. It's top-notch service. It's easy to schedule repairs, and they communicate well. There's never been any concerns regarding whether it's gonna be covered or not. The contract that we have in place is easy to review. Even if there was some sort of question, there's easy access to review the contracts upfront, what's supported and what's not. There's nothing hidden.

    We had a couple of claims with American Home Shield. One was air conditioning related, and the other was related to our water heater. With the water heater, the contractor worked it out with American Home Shield. They measured and found the right water heater to replace a like-for-like situation. The water heater was replaced, and the air conditioner was a pretty simple fix. American Home Shield is pretty dependable. They are good at being responsive. Their overall service is pretty good.

    I sent in a claim for the repair of our central air unit. The unit inside our basement was leaking. It flooded a room in our basement. Apparently, the trap must have gotten clogged at some point, and we didn't know if it was from the recent rains that the drain backed up. The technician said that was what happened, but we got it fixed thankfully. It took about less than an hour for him to get everything fixed. The tech was awesome. He was very friendly, nice, and knowledgeable. American Home Shield has been great the entire time that we've had them and they've been usually pretty prompt with getting repairs as needed.

    American Home Shield's service was terrible up until these last couple of times. The tech from C & C Appliance Repair was fantastic. He had to replace the dishwasher and then he had to fix the washing machine. He got it done very quickly. He was professional. I had a garage door broken and I filed a claim Sunday morning and then the contractor fixed it on Monday. American Home Shield was fantastic. But a couple of years ago, they were terrible. Everything was a disaster. It took them about seven months to replace a cooktop, and five months to replace a refrigerator, and I kept getting the runaround. I couldn't get ahold of anybody. The technicians they sent out to repair stuff were terrible.

    I'm not so happy about the claim when my outdoor AC unit went bad and I had to pay $1,300 for the Freon. I thought that was a part of the contract but I found out that it wasn't. I've been with American Home Shield for over 15 years and it was never mentioned. I never got any definite reason why they didn't cover it and when I opened up the contract, they said everything was covered. And the Freon is probably the most important part and the most important reason to have the air conditioning unit on the plan. But I got over it. Also, I don't like the fee so much because I pay $49 every month and then when I need service, I gotta pay an additional $100 for someone to come out. I don't understand all of that part of it. But I'm trying to hold on to American Home Shield. It's always good service.

    Something happened in the kitchen that the sink stopped up. I called American Home Shield and 1st American Plumbing came out the next day. I've been telling others they need to do something like this. When my AC units upstairs and downstairs were both not working, I could have been charged $5,000 but with American Home Shield, they repaired them both for $79. The repair took a long time, though, because they had to work on the box outside too and the unit upstairs needed some type of part. Also, it was a missed thing on the ticket and it was really confusing. The tech had to come back out and he didn't see that he was supposed to do the one upstairs. They didn't give me a big hassle. They just had to resubmit the ticket. Other than that, I've been recommending people to American Home Shield. It's very affordable and they have saved me almost $10,000. Whatever I'm giving them a month is worth it.

    AHS has been helpful when we needed them. It's always been hassle-free. I just go on the website and conduct my part, which is the service part and then they're usually quick to respond. Recently, our AC just went off completely at our house. They were quick to assign somebody to our place.     This company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced! My refrigerator has been out for almost 2 weeks and this company will not send someone out to fix it! I have called over 15 times and each time I am lied to. They tell me they can't find a vendor in my area to fix it but I have found one just a few miles away that can come out NOW! They refuse to let me use them and keep putting me off saying they are still looking. I finally got to a supervisor that gave me the same runaround and never called me back like he said he would. I have had no cold food for almost 2 weeks. Being an older adult, this has impacted me because I have had to eat meals out and it's costing me a lot of money.

    But, of course they have that in their contract -- They do NOT reimburse for my $300 of spoiled food or for the cost of eating out while they stall and refuse to let me use a local contractor that I found! I'm contacting my attorney general and the BBB. Check out all of the terrible reviews for this company on the BBB website! NO, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! You will be sorry.

    When I was looking for a home warranty for my house, I found American Home Shield and I've been happy with them since that point. It's been helpful in a couple of situations. This is my first time owning a home, so there are home-owning things that I don't necessarily know how to do myself, or if I had to learn how to do it, it would take more time than just having the warranty charge one time for someone to come and handle it. I don't have to worry about it past that point.

    The home warranty does all the vetting, and that has been especially nice. I can at least know that whoever they are getting has had someone more knowledgeable review them than something I could do under my own power. It's been nice to have American Home Shield. The claim submission process has been super easy. I go online through the web browser, it takes 30 seconds and I’ve had no issues. The people that have come from the contractors’ side have all been professional too.

    I had Home Serve Memphis come out for two problems. The main one was my bathtub was constantly getting clogged up. I tried to fix that, but the 3-foot pipe snake I bought wasn't taking care of the problem and I didn't wanna buy one of those full industrial, professional ones. That's what Home Serve Memphis ended up doing, and with them fixing the issue with their pipe snake, it was fine. It was like hedging my bet with that. I could have bought one of those professional pipe snakes, but I wouldn't have been guaranteed that that was the issue.

    When I had two repair companies at the same time, both did the job satisfactorily. One was for the dishwasher and the other was for the washing machine. With the dishwasher, the repair man did the job the first time. The second time, he got it to drain and couldn't find anything wrong, but he did the same thing again and came back. He didn't say what he did, but it hasn't messed up since.

    I prefer doing requests with a phone call. That way, I know they got it. However, I've done it both ways and the website is easy to navigate.     I'm an online digital guy, and I can interact with American Home Shield without having to call anybody and wait in a call center. I know that when I send a message, something's happening in the background. Their follow-up is really good, and I haven't had any issues with any of the vendors either. Everybody that they send seems to be polite, reputable, and thorough. Whenever we've had any issues with an appliance, it's either quickly explained and/or quickly taken care of for us. The vendors are not just coming in trying to sell us a bunch of stuff that we don't need. Also, people don't understand that as a consumer, I hold the wallet and the credit card, so they can't make me do anything.

    Recently, we had a string of hot days here in Virginia, and my air conditioner wasn't working well. The repair company came out and did an assessment of it. The tech was a good guy and he did what I thought he was gonna do. My system is original and he made the recommendation of, "Hey, it's time for an upgrade." It is, but people don't spring $8,000 on somebody. The tech was informative, professional, and wasn't pushy. He did a thorough cleaning, replaced a part, and now, everything is great. American Home Shield is getting a bit pricey, but over the years, I've had a bunch of stuff done and customer service seems good. The only challenges that we would have ever run into was obtaining a part somewhere, but that's not on them.

    I was with American Home Shield for quite a while then cancelled them because they weren't doing what they needed to do. A few years ago, I went back to them. The way they do it now is a little different than they used to. You can design your coverage and choose what you want covered. Recently, I put a claim in for the ice maker. I also had a disposal/plumbing issue. A contractor came out to look at the ice maker. They ordered an ice maker then the ice maker decided it was gonna work. I did a recall. They came back, looked at it again, ordered an ice maker and replaced it. So far, so good.

    It was a similar thing with the plumbing thing. There was a clog. The first guy that came out tried but couldn't get it. They needed some other machine that wasn't on the truck. A second guy came back and was able to get it done. The contractors did what they needed to do. Both tried to get there as soon as possible. Even one of them called me and said they could get there earlier, so we moved it up.

    When you call American Home Shield and talk to somebody, it seems you're not talking to somebody in this country, which I don't care for. Sometimes, it's hard to understand the person you're speaking with. Another thing is when I signed up for them a few years ago, it was $55. Now I'm up to $70 a month. I don't like that. At some point, I may cancel it again.

    I had a very bad experience with American Home Shield. They ripped me off. An AC unit was bad. The repairman put a new coil in and a month and a half later, it was not working. American Home Shield had the same company come out again but it kept on breaking down. In Florida, you can't go without air conditioning. It took weeks and the house was 85, 90 degrees. It was ridiculous. I called American Home Shield and told them the situation. I told them I had to bring my own person in because their contractor didn't know what they were doing. A kindergartner could have done a better job than what they did. The welds were broken. It was a shoddy job.

    The rep said they needed approval. I waited days but didn't hear anything. I put all kinds of calls in to the managers to get this resolved. No one got back to me until four months later. Finally, someone gave me insight and said, "You have to contact the vendor who did the job." I called the vendor up and they said, "That's between American Home Shield and us. Why are you calling us?" They hung up on me, cursed me out, and nothing got resolved. That was the worst experience. It was $2,100 I had out of my own pocket to have my own company to come in and fix the job that they should have done. The vendors are terrible. They do the basic just to make it work for the time being. I had a microwave on another property. It went bad. The vendor fixed the microwave. I saw that the maximum cost out was $400. Apparently, American Home Shield puts a price tag on these various costs then they won't pay.

    When we first signed up with Home Shield, they were great. Great customer service, great response, great feedback. Since Covid and since they offshored their customer service, it's been a headache. The only reason why I still have Home Shield is because of their great customer service in the beginning, and they're the only ones that do what they do. They cover everything. However, the price doesn't match the service that they provide.

    The heating coil in our air conditioner went out a year before. It took them six months to get it fixed and during that time, it was a hassle. They were non-responsive with me and with the servicing shop. For us to be such long-time customers, it was hard for us to get anybody on the phone ever. It was a horrible experience. Every time we called, we would never get consistency. The person we would talk to would have something different to say than the last person, and if we ask to speak to somebody else or escalate the issue, they don't let us.

    I sent in a claim when the freezer wasn't making ice and it started leaking, and then the microwave just died. It was a horrible experience. It was to the point where I said, "Next time, I'm gonna actually call American Home Shield myself and ask them, ‘Please don't send them again.’” The first time that the tech came out, he gave us a 30-minute heads-up that he was coming. After that, he was in my driveway and called to say, "I'm here." But that was not enough heads-up. I only work part time. We weren't even in the state. We were on vacation in Tennessee. But luckily by chance, my mom happened to be at my house.

    The other problem was that the first time the tech came out, he diagnosed everything, and said he had to order some parts. Then he came back a week later. But again, there was no communication. He just showed up. Then he had the wrong parts for both appliances. So he had to come back out. On week three of the claim, he went out there and fixed both things. The microwave ran fine for about a day. But less than 24 hours later, it was dead again. So he came back out to diagnose it again. Then I had to order another part and then he came back out. So he came out five times for this microwave. He was absolutely refusing to let American Home Shield know that it needed to be replaced. He tried to fix it numerous times before American Home Shield said they were gonna replace it for me.

    During one of those times that the tech came out, my mom was there and I wasn't home. He asked my elderly mother to help him physically remove something over the stove microwave. She did it. But afterward, her shoulder was hurting the next three days. My mom told me that she wasn't comfortable with it because she was worried that she was gonna drop her side of it and she was gonna bust my stove.

    We had another tech come out to fix our toilet. Every time he came out, he said, "Oh, it's a clog in the main line. I don't have the equipment to fix it. I'll have to come back later.” So then my husband would get on the phone with him and sort of yell at him. Then all of a sudden, he had the equipment to fix it. But this went on for months and months where he would say that it was fixed and then it wasn't and he had to come back out. We finally got another company out there and the guy was amazing because he found the problem. The problem was my child accidentally dropped a toy into the toilet and that was blocking the toilet.

    We've had a handful of bad people come out that didn't do a great job. But we've also had a handful of good people. A lot of the people that I talk to at American Home Shield have heavy accents and I have a hard time understanding them. I'm not 100% sure that they're understanding me when I'm trying to communicate the issue. But we've got great coverage. I haven't come across anything yet that I needed to have done that hasn't been covered.

    The air conditioner would not come on and I was very displeased with the first AC guy that came. He went outside and said he put a valve on it and gave me two cans of Freon. This happened at the end of June and he told me to call him back if I had any trouble. Well, I did call him back and then I sent him a text that the thermostat was showing that it was 83 degrees in my house. He never called. I contacted their office and they said they didn't have a recall. I didn't know how to do that. I did the recall but I don't know if I did it right or not because when I called back, the lady said she didn't see it over the phone but she went ahead and did it for me.

    Five days later, I got the guy to schedule the appointment on a Wednesday. I took off four hours from work and he never showed up. I was in my house at an 86-degree temperature waiting for somebody to come. I was pissed, to say the least. The next day, I called Rivers and asked the lady why the guy didn't come. She said that it was because it rained. I told her that was no excuse for no one contacting me. She said all the agents knew they were supposed to contact the people if something happened. They put me back on the board for Friday so I waited two more days. I had to stay at different people's homes because I had no air conditioning. The second guy came and he was a little better. He, at least, called me and told me he was coming. He went into the attic and he said it was not getting any power. He said he couldn't fix it and they're not allowed to touch anything electric.

    I went back to my computer and I put in another call and paid another $100 for an electrician to come out. That company called me the next morning, which I was surprised by. I didn't know they worked on the weekend. He came out and he told me that there was no power. The problem was a breaker box issue that caused the air conditioner not to work and he had to get a part. He came back to put it in and waited 20 minutes to make sure it was working and then it was fixed. It was a long ordeal. The first time AHS's contractor came was June 26th but I got it fixed a month later. I have had American Home Shield for two years and that was the first time I ever used them. It was a good experience, but it was bad. Also, I was getting ready to cancel my service because it went up $14 from last year. If it goes up again next year, I'm gonna have to cancel it.

    A big benefit to AHS is being able to just go online, request a service, and then have someone come out quickly. Requesting a service is simple and easy.     I still have a claim with American Home Shield going on. It's for the AC unit. I called the company out last week and told them the house wasn't cooling. When they came out, they said, “Oh, there's no problem.” They came back out on Wednesday of last week and still said, “No problem.” I kept telling them there was an issue. The AC was just blowing out hot air at that point. So, I called on Sunday to have somebody come back out. They said somebody can't get to me until Thursday.

    So, today I had to expedite and say, “Let's go with another company. I have kids in the house. We have no AC. We have nothing.” AHS told me they couldn't do anything about it, and I have to wait for that particular company to come back. The rep just said that was their policy. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and I was told it will take 24 to 48 hours for somebody to call me back.

    I've had repairs with AHS and I never had this issue before. I don't understand why we can't go to a different vendor. First of all, you can't even call the vendor who they put me with. You can email them. They should have vendors where you'll be able to pick up the phone and call, see if they can reschedule, or see if they can fit you in. All I can do is leave a message. They have a phone number, but it goes to a voicemail every time you call. First call goes straight to voicemail. AHS needs to get vendors that can check their voicemails and respond to the customer. I wish the rate was lower. I wish we didn't have to pay the deductible we have to pay to get the same service. Also, AHS has people from all over. So, it's hard to understand, and there's communication gap.

    My experience with American Home Shield is amazing. I feel more protected having them. We have placed two claims so far, and both of them have been taken care of very nicely. Two times, it was a fridge that failed. One time, it was repaired. The other time, it was replaced. Not all the contractors were very nice to work with. On the second claim, I didn't have very good experience with the very first contractor. They didn't have any customer service. We couldn't get ahold of them. There was no follow-up. I had to call AHS several times to find out what was wrong, what was happening, and why we were still waiting that long. The other ones were okay though. As far as the replacement, AHS covered up to a certain amount. If I was paying up to that amount, I didn't have to pay anything. If I wanted any upgrades, I could pay up out-of-pocket. So, I just stayed in the limits and got one that they were proposing.

    My experience was not good. I got the letter that American Home Shield won't pay and I knew that. The problem I have is the guy that they sent out was trying to gouge me. He was charging me $200 to clean the condenser and over $200 a pound for Freon, and I had it put in for $45 a pound. Something was wrong, but American Home Shield didn't seem to be too concerned about it. I told them that I don't think they should be using them.

    The other guy with A-1 Septic was a little slow, but once he got there, there was no problem. Overall, I'm satisfied with American Home Shield, and I have recommended them to friends. They gave me a new washer, but I didn't want it. I would have rather had my old one fixed, but they couldn't do it. It's hard to understand the reps as well. Their English is poor. I understand that everything's about money and they are using the people they're using to save money, but perhaps they need better training in English the way we speak in this country.

    We've been w/ AHS for a few yrs now. And for most part it was positive until past year. They do not vet for good companies.. The vendors they use are the worse. I've found a way to bypass that but it's a big hassle. The reason for low rating however is that when we signed up we opted for the $100 flat rate fee in order to have a low monthly fee which has gone from $39 myh to recent contract renewal $119 month...over of what they claim their platinum plan charges and I don't even think we are on that better plan. It seems like we are being penalized for using the service which has been minimal. One year our fridge went out and we opted for a buy out.. That was the biggest expense but if they are going to stick it to you later..that should get spelled out upfront. I'm going to call and if they make it right I'll amend this low rating. If not..the rating will warn everyone about being burned for being a loyal customer.

It runs good for the first 30 days, and it would go out on me. And I had to pay that 125 again. But it was the same issue. Why did American Home Shield charge me again? I mentioned that to them. And I said, "People don't have money like that. Times are hard nowadays. We can't do that." And I wish the deductible was less. Other than that, I've been satisfied.     For the most part, we've had a good experience with American Home Shield as an organization. But there were one or two times where there was a scheduling debacle. Also, we had a technician come out and they put on a incorrect part. And a guy come out one time where I wasn't real happy with the service. He came out to fix our ice machine on the refrigerator and we had him come out once or twice and I paid him for service fee but the ice machine, to this day, still doesn't work. But overall, it's been a great experience. I'm very busy all the time so oftentimes it saves time not having to hunt down somebody. I can report the issue and have a service tech.

    The AC unit was not working and it appeared to be an outage on the thermostat as well. My wife submitted a claim online and we were told it was assigned to Burgos Air. The gentleman that came out was great and there was a thermostat issue that he got working again. He took a look at the units and was very honest. He said that they were in decent shape, compared to contractors that I've had come to my house in the past who I feel are kinda shady. As of right now, the AC is back on minus the little alert on the thermostat.

    The contractors have been excellent. It seems like American Home Shield has a good team around them so I've been very impressed. I don't know why I didn't have them before. Once I submit a claim, I get some kind of response from American Home Shield within 24 hours. They tell me that they received it and that they're going to assign somebody. Then, in about 24 to 48 hours, there's normally a company and technician assigned and within another 24 to 48 hours, they're on the assignment. Having American Home Shield has been great. The only thing that was disappointing was I did not read the inscription in there showing that I have up to about 60 days to make any adjustments. I would have upgraded it from Gold to Platinum but I have to wait until the month of renewal before I can do so.

    This complaint is against American Home Shield (AHS). On 8/10 at 11:30 p.m., our home plumbing began rapidly backing up and waste water was rising from our tubs and toilets. As this was an emergency and health hazard, we promptly called a 24/7 plumbing company to assist us. They arrived quickly and completed their service around 2:00 a.m. The next morning, I called AHS to explain the extreme situation and inquire about possibly being reimbursed for some or all of the cost ($929).

    The representative (Ella) agreed that this was a unique situation and understood that we were unable to wait for previous authorization from AHS for the service. Therefore, she said she'd be elevating the request to the "Authorization Department" and they would contact me on Monday (8/14). I asked her if she wanted the receipt emailed or to even know the dollar amount, but she said they would gather that on Monday, for me not to worry and she had documented everything. When I asked for her ID #, she repeated not to worry and that everything had been noted on my account.

    No call came on Monday. I called AHS on Tuesday (8/15) to follow up. I was connected with Lyca (Customer ID #**). Lyca said there were no notes in my account since March of 2023 from a previous AC repair issue. I asked her if there was a manager I could speak with about the situation. She said there are no managers. I re-explained the situation to Lyca and she insisted that no reimbursement can ever be issued. I pushed for why Ella would say such a thing, asking, "Did Ella then just blatantly lie to me?" and Lyca said yes. When I asked how something like that can be resolved if there are no managers, she only said she too would be making notes. AHS is a terrible company, customer service is atrocious, and I will be cancelling my policy when it is up for renewal. I know to do so before then is a whole other nightmare. Stay away from this company.

    I have issues with an A/C wall unit I requested service. AHS put me with a company to fix the A/C wall unit. A technician came to my house and said it need a new part or replacement. The technician said he will report to his company the problem and they will contact AHS. I contacted AHS and the service provider company. They said they referring the job to another company. I didn’t understand because the technician told me about the issue with the A/C wall unit. I contacted AHS for this information, they said I will receive an email in the next 24/48 hours.

    I never received an email on the A/C but I an email and text message on rescheduling with the same service company. I told them that the company said they not coming back to my house. AHS representative ignored me and told me to wait for my appointment with the same company and told me they not coming back to my home. On the appointment day, the service company didn’t show up as they told me and AHS ignores me when I told them.

    The service company told me AHS lying to me and they not coming to my house again and they needed to find another company to fix my A/C wall unit. AHS knows my mother is in her 90’s years of age and my home is “HOT” with an outside heat advisory. I have been dealing with this issue with the A/C wall unit with AHS for about a month. AHS representatives don’t listen to or be ignoring me. They would not let me talk to a supervisor saying they be busy but promised they will contact me the next day but didn’t at all. I been with AHS about two years and they was not bad like this to now. They don’t care about me or my mother in a “HOT” house with no air conditioner. They really don’t listen to the customers no more.

    We've had quite a bit of a problem with AHS and if it wasn't for the coverage, I would have left them by now. The technicians they sent out were friendly and fast. I never had a problem with them. But at one point in time, we had to fight tooth and nail for AHS to send out a different person for plumbing. And we were going back and forth about that. There was also a lot of misunderstanding with communication to the point where I decided not to call. I had to repeat myself again and again, and there was a language barrier. So, I decided to message through the website instead so that what I wanted done was understood. They should have better communication where the rep understands what the customers are saying.

    I also had a problem with them increasing the monthly fee last year. They said that it has changed again this year, but I haven't been able to look at it yet. Also, they sent the email this time but last time, I don't recall seeing an email. Other than that, the techs were recently working on my backdoor light. It wasn't working at first then it worked for a little while, but now it's not working again. So, they have to come back out here tomorrow. The contractor, Beacon Hill, is usually good. The first time I worked with them, they did everything all right.

    I had water dripping which I thought was something from my air conditioning. When the guy came and unclogged it, he said that the water should go away in a couple of days. I was sleeping on the couch for 3 days because it was too hot upstairs. Another guy came out and told me that there was water underneath the unit, that I need to call a plumber. The first guy never told me that. The second guy was informative. He said, "If the water goes past the line, you call a plumber and check it in about an hour." I checked in 20 minutes and the water was already up. Even though I had to wait two days before the plumber came out, he was here very shortly and unclogged it.

    I called American Home Shield and told them that my home wasn't cooling. I asked them if I could choose my own contractor because the original one that they sent me didn't have a good rating. When I called them and told them that I didn't want that company to come to my home, they told me that they were going to send someone else out, but they didn't. The initial company was still reaching me to come to my home. I called the first company and told them American Home Shield should have canceled the request. American Home Shield resolved the issue but it took some time. Also, I was concerned the first three days. It was hot still in the house. My neighbor came and the part that the guy had installed was loose, so my neighbor tightened it.

    When the technician first came out the house, he immediately started saying, "The way you have your vents in your home, they should have put vents somewhere else. Your house may not cool like it's supposed to. You may wanna consider redoing the ductwork in your roof." He told me that before even investigating the repair. He never went into my roof. Whatever repair he made, he didn't turn my power off.

    There's a language barrier with the people that answer the phone. They're very short with you. They use words like, "We don't have to call another contractor. Our policy states that we can pick the contractor for you. No, you have to go with the contractor that we chose." I asked the lady to please have a supervisor to call me. I asked the salesperson to not send this person to my home but they never canceled the request and never got me another contractor. She said, "Can you please hold? It's gonna be a wait for a manager." She didn't even put me on hold. She immediately came back to the phone and told me they didn't have a manager available and that it'd be 24 to 48 hours when one would call me back.

    About 20 minutes later, she called my phone back and asked me to please hold for a manager. I asked her, "Why am I holding for a manager when you said they're gonna call me 24 to 48 hours?" She told me she never placed the request. She had me tied up for at least three hours and thought it was funny. She was laughing. In my years of working with American Home Shield, this experience is not what I'm accustomed to. Even when the manager called me back, it didn't even seem like she was calling to address anything. Their customer service is extremely insensitive.

    I had a leak and American Home Shield sent someone out. The tech was very professional. He said, "I'm here about the leak that you reported," and then he proceeded to do what he came to do. The problem wasn't covered under my warranty, but I was still able to get the problem pinpointed to what was causing the leak. The water was right under my AC thermostat. So, I was thinking it was the AC that was leaking. I found out it was directly under my thermostat. Everything is fine now.

    When I purchased my home, I knew I needed a homeowner's warranty. I have been with AHS since then. I did try another company once before, but the professionalism wasn't the same. With American Home Shield, they're gonna get right on a claim and send someone as soon as possible. Go with them. I suggest American Home Shield to people that are looking for home warranty insurance. I don't know what I would do without it. It's an assurance that when something goes wrong, I got somewhere to lean on. I know that they're gonna help get a problem taken care of in a timely manner.

    Our AC unit recently got zapped by a surge. We had a really bad storm that came through here three weeks ago and unfortunately, it was almost close to the triple digits. The electricity got knocked out and it knocked our AC unit as well. It got really hot in the house and luckily, we have American Home Shield. But it happened on a Thursday and we had to go to a hotel for a couple of days until the contractor could come out that Saturday. Everything was fixed, though.     American Home Shield rose to the occasion when the other ones had failed. And they were competitive at the time. Also, the service has been good. I can go online and place a claim, I can call them, and follow up with them. AHS' website has a drop-down menu to choose from. It is convenient. AHS keeps moving the price up every year or other year, and that is frustrating. But other than that, it's good.

    From what the contractor determined, the washing machine's drum was physically damaged. It was filled up with water from my perspective, so I had to empty the water out of the machine. The person in the office was communicative. He would check and let me know, and ask what would be the scheduling time that would work for me and him. They held to that schedule, informed me an hour or two before they were to appear of their arrival. And when they were on board, the technician was very professional, courteous, and efficient. He reviewed the situation, gave his assessment, and went back. Afterward, the office followed up to inform me of what the next step might be.

    The order was placed for a new machine within two days after the service technician had completed their write-up. So, the claim was submitted on a Sunday, I received a call from the office manager on Monday, the technician was out on Thursday. That's four days. And the next day, Friday, the order was placed, and the machine arrived the following Thursday.

    I've had a few claims recently. I had two air conditioners, a dishwasher, and a microwave. The vendors that American Home Shield employ seem to be well-trained. However, there seemed to have been a very big change at AHS over the course of the last two years. The management or ownership, or both changed. It's frustrating on many fronts.

    Before there were people that could make a decision and could apply logic and help me out but that is not the case anymore. There have been big issues this year regarding cost and the way AHS treats a situation that I ask them to consider. It's all overseas. I hold call handlers in the highest regard. They do their jobs very well and professionally, and they conduct their business with the power that they were given. The fact that AHS is only using that type of support for all of their issues, even their escalations, and not giving those people any additional powers to satisfy their customers, is the issue. I get that same, "Sir, this is what we can do for you." The other two people just told me that. And I know that I would be passed on to somebody else and would happen. Also, I typically couldn't get the same person twice. There's an agent number that they can share with me at times. I typically couldn't get back to that person. If I did, it's a miracle.

    I have been a client for 20 years, but it's getting difficult for me to justify having them when I've been coming out of pocket substantially for larger systems. The coverage is more geared towards smaller appliances in the home instead of big systems. They seem to want to cover one particular component of an air conditioner or a hot water heater. But there are other costs involved when they're doing the repair. So, they can't just say, "I'm gonna cover that one component, but I'm not gonna cover any of the costs associated with replacing that component." Let's say the out-of-coverage cost would be $2,000 and there's always an option for a buyout. They would give me the cost of that component that they were willing to spend money on as the buyout cost. So, for a $2,000 repair, they would give me $200 for a part that they would replace.

    I got a rental property and a primary residence where we're hitting the 20-year mark on those, and air conditioners and hot water heaters are the things that go bad. I got AHS to cover me from these big expenses. That's their whole thing when they're trying to sell you their protection. "Hey, don't get caught with large bills." I don't, but the air conditioner that I recently repaired with them, I had to put the third compressor into that air conditioner and I asked them to help me with some of those costs. I said, "You guys keep advising me to do the compressor, but you're not covering any of the Freon costs or the code compliance." It's always $400 for them, but $2,000 every time it happens for me. All I want is some consideration for what's happening here and I would like for them to help me with some of these costs this time.

    I got the runaround and got to their escalation department and figured, "These people must have power to help me override the contracts and apply a little bit of logic to what's going on here." Nope. They just read my contract to me and it was like talking to a warranty politician. I said, "Can you please put somebody on the phone that has the power to help and that is not just gonna read my contract to me? Because I understand what you're saying, but I don't think what is occurring here is the experience that you really want me to have." So, I am disappointed in my coverage and the experience from a contract side.

    I got the air conditioning company's and the internet's opinion and the component was $300 and I had to come out of pocket 1,800 for the repair. I'm looking for $75 or $100 on top of the $1,000 that I spend per property and for these systems to be repaired properly. Not for me to have the big system surprise anyway on top of paying them. So, they're making it worse for me. They're making the expense higher on several fronts because of the way they're protecting themselves. I don't like that anymore. I'm considering either just paying myself and putting it in an account for expenses like this or trying to find another warranty company.

    The people that AHS hire try to go above and beyond for me. The guy that did the microwave and the dishwasher spent more time than he even needed to or would get paid for. And they would even tell me. "I'm gonna do this, but AHS probably won't pay me for it, but I want it to work for you." Even they are getting squeezed by AHS.

    Another thing that has irritated me is I have had four homes covered for a very long time. So, I could see that there are differences between some home contracts and others. And they started to recently cover additional air conditioning components and the cost of gas, the refrigerant for some. When they started doing that, I said, "I want this new type of support for all of my homes so I don't have to come out of pocket so much." And the representatives were not able to figure it out.

    When major appliances break down, AHS has been very good at replacing things and giving money towards the new unit. When I needed a new dishwasher, they paid almost all of it and they replaced the microwave door. But I’m not impressed with AHS today. Our air conditioner unit needed Freon and all the policy covers is $10 on a pound. It needed $1,000 worth and they paid a whole $120. I don't feel very covered when it's that big a bill. The service was awesome, though. They came right away. We just had our other unit looked at and fixed. The upstairs one went out two weeks ago and that one took a week for them to come. Also, the automated is not great. You get your service report done, but I like talking to people.

    I can't do the stuff I used to do. So we ended up getting American Home Shield, which my wife and I considered to be a good thing to take care of issues that I have here. But I went to having issues with them, and I also have issues when I call in for service. I speak to somebody with foreign language that doesn't understand me, and I don't understand them. Also, they should not respond back to say the job is completed when it's not. I end up turning around, calling AHS and saying, “We got a report saying it was completed,” that who they sent out is not being truthful to them.

    The first time the contractor came out, they checked the issue and said that they would get back to me because they had to get approved for a camera to look down the toilet system. But they never did. And somebody turned in a note to the company that said that there was no mechanical problem. It wasn't a mechanical problem from the start. It was a gurgling in the flush valve which made it seem like the water backed up.

    The contractor sent a message to AHS to say that the job was completed. My wife and I called AHS and said it wasn't completed because the gurgling still came on. It was not completed, and it was mechanical. So, AHS sent somebody else out, they checked it, and did a bit better. But I still got the gurgling problem in it. He told me the only thing he did was adjust something in the float. And it helped a bit, but it didn't stop it. He checked all three bathrooms. The second time, he went through all three bathrooms. Other than that, I would recommend AHS because they do a good job. They were punctual about getting out and taking care of things.

    Of the 23 years I've been with AHS, I've only had two issues with them. One was with the contractor who didn't do the job adequately. There were a whole bunch of other visits to get the thing fixed based on what he did on the first visit. The other is their accounting system, which leaves a lot to be desired. It's a hot mess and that's recent, so I'm still a little touchy about it. They ended up billing me for an annual premium all at once as opposed to taking the monthly premium because they couldn't figure out their accounting system. It was kind of a shock when $1,100 was missing from my account, as opposed to the 84.99 that I’m anticipating.

    We had a little bit of a go-around about that and we’re still in the process. They were supposed to have refunded the money this past week and I'm hoping that it happens on Monday because I leave for vacation tomorrow and I would really like to have that money with me. Also, they outsource their customer service reps and it's really difficult sometimes with the language barriers.

    Other than those issues, the biggest plus is that AHS is a safety net. I know that if something happens, I can make a phone call or I go online and it's gonna be addressed. I don't have to look for somebody to do the job. They have a whole myriad of contractors that are gonna do what needs to be done and it's gonna get done. Sometimes, it's not optimal. It's gonna take a week because there are parts or whatever, which is what we're running into now. My HVAC shut down and my water heater died about 10 days ago. We're in the process of getting all this fixed. But I didn’t have to do anything other than call them and pay my co-pay. It's a good deal.

    I've made 3 phone calls now to this company. Every time one of their very nice call center representatives from another country answers they eventually hang up on me or go completely quiet as I'm trying to cancel. This company is trying to keep all the money I paid for a year of service and has so far only offered me 200$ of the 850$ I paid. I am 6 months into this annual contract. I've seen nothing about why they seem to be so unwilling to fully prorate me. I'm only trying to cancel because they completely refuse to work with me on recent emergency repairs I needed to make to my home. I guess I was supposed to call them first but I don't understand why we can't work something out. The likelihood that I had any active warranty on any of this aged-out equipment is incredibly unlikely but that didn't even matter to them.

    The warranty has well paid off. My ice maker and microwave went out and I was able to get both of those done at one time. They were fixed with excellent service. Then, my air conditioner in our sunroom decided to go out. But we live out in the country and everybody wants to charge. The tech told me that it would cost me about a $150 service charge just to come out here to my house, which was ridiculous. I would not rely on that contractor to come out here again but they more or less condemned the unit. The unit was corroded and AHS wanted a second opinion. We were without air for three weeks.

    AHS sent Myers out of Montgomery and they were very thorough and they know what they were doing. The technician was Sam and he found the problems immediately. The claim cost us about $425 and it would have cost us $1,500 to $2,000 between the service calls and putting the unit in. And my husband and I are retired so I have limited income so I am very satisfied with my American Home Shield. Then, I noticed that the unit had water in it. I went ahead and called American Home Shield. The tech told me it's normal for it to hold water as long as it's putting out hot air because it evaporates.

    The only thing is I tried to print out my contract when I first got it and I was unable to. I talked to somebody on the line and they were supposed to print my contract out for me but they never sent it to me and I never got it. But I don't really need it as long as I can call in. Also, I used their website when I tried to do a callback on my ice maker. I waited a week or two and I never got a call. They said that I have to call them instead of trying to do a recall online. That got me right there. I don't even bother to use the website anymore. Other than those, I would recommend AHS. I did this for peace of mind. It was better for me to be able to have something I could rely on -- paying a service fee each month and for them to come out and work on the issue instead of having to pay so much money out of pocket. I haven't been their customer for a year and it's a blessing.

    American Home Shield sent out somebody right away, and the company was really good and professional. The whole reason we switched from one company to American Home Shield was because American Home Shield had more people and services to offer around here. With the company we were with before, we'd run into, "Well, we don't have any providers that can come out to fix that issue. But if you fix it, and then we can reimburse you." I didn't wanna keep doing that because that's why we pay a deductible. At least with the American Home Shield, we just pay the deductible and they've been accurate in finding somebody to come out to remedy the situation. I haven't had any issues at all with the quality of the service. The cost is a little more than what we'd like, but it's just one of those things that keep going up, yet nobody gets paid more.

    For the most part, American Home Shield has been good. I recently had a washer repair claim and they assigned Majestik. They had to order a part for the washer, so they came back three days later after initially coming out and repaired the unit. They've come out for other repairs before, and they're always fantastic. When I use Majestik, they're great and it's always so easy. Other companies, I've had issues with. It just depends on the provider that's sent out.

    I have separate claim wherein my AC is technically working, but it's also making this crazy banging sound. When the repair people came out, they didn't hear the banging sound right away. It's one those issues that have to be caught when the unit does something specific. We can't force the AC to do it. It has to be when it's clicking on and off on its own, so they couldn't manually try and recreate it on their own by shutting the AC on and off. It was late, so they said, "Listen, we'll wait a couple minutes. If we don't hear it, you'd have to call us back." They weren't bad and I understand the situation. They ended up running late during the day, so they ended up coming after hours for me. It was 7:00 pm when they showed up. I totally get that they were tired, but I wish they would have had a little more patience to hang out for 30 minutes to catch the problem, because now, I have to wait and call them back out again.

    We called American Home Shield for an air conditioner that quit working. It was towards the weekend and they said they could get someone out Monday. Because my wife is disabled, I asked them to put a special expedited service on this because she would suffer under extreme heat. They found this company who came out on a Friday and looked at the unit. They said it was a broken fan. It's a 20 to 25 year old system. They came back that day with a whole unit, which was the motor plus the fan blades on it. They installed that and it's been working perfectly. We're really appreciative that they did it a day earlier. Both guys were considerate people. There are times that American Home Shield is less than ideal and there are times that they go over and above the call of duty. They also seem to change the things that they cover and the things that they don't each year. But in this case, they did well.

    I've had a good experience with American Home Shield. I like the convenience of knowing immediately we're gonna go online or make a phone call, and it's done. Our air conditioner needed a lot of work. It probably would have been $2,500 worth of work. It was nice that we just gave them our $125 deductible. We also used them for our pool pump. A pool guy gave us a quote of $450, but we got it for $125 with American Home Shield.

    The only thing we were really disappointed in was that we didn't realize they could put any hot water heater. Our hot water heater went out and they replaced it. We had one that was digital where we could set the timing and heat for efficiency. It was a gas. They put one in, and it wasn't so we were not happy. We called, but it was too late. An enhancement would have been for them to offer for us to upgrade it. Also, we had to wait a week without a hot water heater. My husband would have gone and got one, and if he could have been reimbursed, he would have even installed it himself. But American Home Shield said we couldn't do that.

    I like American Home Shield's service. They follow up. On the app, you can see when a technician is on the way. They communicate well. I would recommend them. When our AC wasn't blowing cold air, American Home Shield sent a guy out and he was here 20 minutes. He walked around and told us all we needed was freon. He put a pound of freon in it and left. That was on a Tuesday. As soon as he left, the air went out. We live in Texas, and it was 103. We were hot Wednesday and Thursday. Friday morning, they sent somebody out. He knew exactly what needed to be done. He told us we needed a new unit. He said, “I'm gonna have my guys come back and install the new unit. Then I'm gonna come back later to have you do the paperwork because the installers don't deal with paperwork.”

    They came and put the new unit in. The air conditioner worked Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Tuesday, we went out of town. When we walked back in the house Friday, it was 89 degrees. The new unit had gone out. Monday, they sent somebody out. It was the same guy that came and said we needed a new unit. At first, he said it was a blocked valve.     With a lot of other providers, their systems are so complicated in how you get to how you have to do things. But American Home Shield's is very easy. You either do it online or call them up and they make arrangements for a contractor to come out. They talk with you and walk through what the problem is or isn't. They're honest and they give you options.

    Recently, I had a noise coming from the motor of the refrigerator. My sister said, "When you hear a noise, it means it's bad, and they'll replace the refrigerator." This refrigerator has been here since '99. I called American Home Shield and their contractor came out. It wasn't the motor at all. It was the ice machine that had already been replaced when they came out before. The ice had frozen at the bottom and that was what caused this noise. I paid $100 for them to come out and tell me that I should have cleaned my ice machine. They cleaned it and got rid of the noise. The repairman was very nice about telling me to make sure that I cleaned behind the refrigerator and get the lint out of there because that could be hazardous. He was very thorough. I was happy with him.

    I had called because of a roof leak, but they thought it was because of the way the fan is in the ceiling. One person told me it was covered but another person told me it wasn't. Otherwise, everything's been fine. I've also used American Home Shield for the microwave. They replaced the part but it still went bad afterwards. Their contractor came out twice. They also came out for the refrigerator and the shower in the bathroom.

    American Home Shield is very prompt when trying to get someone to come in and fix your request. I like that. For 70 some dollars a month, you can't beat that. When I needed to get my garbage disposal fixed, they sent me out a plumber who came out and fixed it. He was excellent. The only thing I didn't understand about it was there was a $125 upfront fee, and they were trying to charge me $85. I'm not understanding where the $85 comes from. I called American Home Shield and tried to question them about it. They said they would look into it, but they didn't get back with me.

    I've requested service through American Home Shield three times. The last time was over the phone, but the other few times was on the internet and the website was easy to navigate. When my AC was not cooling like it was supposed to, I put in a claim, then they gave me the name of the contractor, Myers Comfort Specialist, and they also had a picture of the person that was supposed to come out.

    The heating people came out three times. They replaced something the first day, then I'm not sure what they did after that and there's no telling how much that cost. I only paid 125, but if I would have called them independently, it might have been $400. I'm not too fond of Myers. My AC unit still isn't working like it's supposed to and I'm gonna need one soon. Other than that, I'd tell people to get American Home Shield. My mom has it.

    I've been with American Home Shield for quite a while and I have had limited use of the warranty service, but when I have, I've been satisfied with the outcome.     Having American Home Shield has been helpful. The website is very easy to navigate, and the price seems very fair. We used the home warranty for our refrigerator and our dryer, and they were both repaired. Currently, we're dealing with the dishwasher and it was condemned. The technicians were unable to repair it, so we're in the process of getting it replaced. I got the email yesterday to choose the replacement. I just haven't had the chance to do the measurements yet to answer. All in all, I have no complaints about the service and the coverage we have had.

    One caveat is many of the people I speak with on the phone are difficult to understand. I feel bad for them because it's like, “I'm sorry. What did you say? I'm sorry. Could you repeat that?” It happens over and over to where I feel like it's almost offensive to them, but sometimes, it's fine. Besides that, all of the technicians who have come to my house, each one with a different company, have been great. However, I was not thrilled and highly unimpressed with Whirlpool of Atlanta for the process of going through our refrigerator. They were terrible to work with. It wasn't AHS’ or the technician’s fault. It was Whirlpool.

    I have several accounts with AHS and I had one in Florida, which was a horrible experience. I did it for my father-in-law. I ended up canceling AHS because I wasn't getting anywhere. The AC was no good and they were supposed to replace it. The people that came out to replace it came with the wrong unit. They never came out and fixed it. I was only in Florida for a short time because it was my father-in-law's house. I kept calling from Virginia and trying to get it situated. I ended up just letting it go because he had passed away and I was going to sell the house. But it never got fixed.

    I have three houses with them. Their prices for a visit have gone up, but so is everything else. But they're a lot higher than some of the other companies. It's just that with having my house that they were just left at, which is a rental property, I just don't want to change because I'm afraid if something happens, I won't be covered.

    I had an electrical issue with some of the outlets and the company they sent called me on a Monday, set appointment for Friday and never showed up. The problem is, normally, I don't do it online. But I was in the middle of work and I did it really quick on my computer. I usually call them and request a particular company. I usually request the AAA-rated company. I never have a problem when I have the AAA-rated company.

    The AC broke. This guy came out and was trying to talk me into replacing the unit. I said, “No. I'm paying this warranty company for that reason. If something breaks, they will fix it or replace it.” This guy did something. Thankfully, my tenant was walking her child to a friend's house, and when she was on her way back, she saw that the outside unit was on fire.

    I called them up and I had a fit. Then they sent someone out. The United Air Temp is who I deal with now solely for the AC at that house, and said, “We're gonna have to replace everything, the inside, outside.” The United Air Temp said, “Whatever that guy did, he caused fire.” That cost me nothing. Last year, I had an AC problem and they did not really want to fix it or they wanted to charge me $5,000 out of pocket for me to fix it instead of them just replacing the unit. My husband and I bit the bullet and I said, “If I'm paying 5,000, I might as well just replace it.” So, we ended up replacing it. American Home Shield never covered a thing of it.

    I also have them here at my house in Richmond. Any time they’ve sent anybody from out here, I've never had a problem. It was a month ago, the line in our freezer door was leaking. It was dripping a small drip. It turned out that there was some kink in the line and they replaced the freezer door. The guy that came out was really awesome. He said, “They're saying it could be months." I said, “I hope not, but okay.” It ended up only being a couple of weeks. But as soon as that guy got the part in, I got a text message, he came right over that same day and put it in. We have not had a problem with him.

    I called American Home Shield on July 24 and they sent someone out. The tech looked at the air conditioner. My air conditioner is 27 years old and we've been putting it together and having anybody fix it as it goes along. The tech said it was just overheating and he would see whether he could swap out the motor or not. He said he would call and let us know but we didn't hear from him for quite a while. I called on August 4 and the lady I talked to actually called and talked to the tech. He told her that the unit was fixed. But he didn't do anything. They can't do Freon because the unit is too old. I said, “Well, if he can't do something, then what’s going on at least?” The tech still hasn't returned my call when I called after that time. The lady I talked to told the tech that he had to come back out. That very day, I got a message that said, “24 hours, we will contact you.” I'm still waiting.

    I realized that air conditions are a little bit different than everything else. But I thought American Home Shield should at least let us know what they can do. I may have to get a new air conditioner. I'm just trying to get us through this heat before I can actually go buy a new one in the fall. I'm here in Arizona and we had that 31 days with over 110 degrees. It’s just crazy. This part of the day in the afternoon, it would get up to 85 in the house. In the morning when we have a lower temperature of 106. But when it gets over 110, that's when I'm having trouble in the afternoon. We got three fans going constantly to keep the house cool. Our electricity bill is gonna be sky high.

    I didn’t have a claim the first year with American Home Shield and I just signed up again for June. They dropped how much I pay for a year because I had no claim for the first year. My son has had American Home Shield for years and he gets everything taken care of. That was why I decided to sign up for the home warranty. Everybody has been very kind talking to me. It's just the technician refuses to talk with me and I don't know why. If he can’t do anything, he should honestly say so. I paid my fee and I’m getting nothing, unfortunately.

    My air conditioner went out and AHS they didn't pay like they normally would. I had to have a new fan, a compressor, and a thermostat, and at that time I had only been with them a month and they said that I hadn't been with them long enough. I didn't know that but there was nothing I could do about it. I paid my $125, which is what you have to pay for the techs to come, and I had to wind up paying 600 some odd dollars. Other than that, I would highly recommend the tech who came out. He was very informative and he knew exactly what was wrong with the AC.

    It was really hot here and a lot of friends of mine also had ACs that went out. They were on the waiting list and AHS got mine fixed quickly. When I called them, the tech showed up in three days. He came and assessed it, then they had to order the parts. When AHS told me they couldn't cover all the cost, I had to figure out how I was going to come up with the money. When I figured it out, the tech came back the next morning and fixed it. I was pretty satisfied with my experience but they classified the issue as a precondition, which what was weird since my air was running fine and I no problem until a few days before it went out.

    Other than that, their customer service was wonderful and their app was very easy to download. When you talk to somebody, the claims process was also very easy. I'm older and us older folks don't understand technology like other people do, but using the website was so simple. That makes a big deal when people are not tech-savvy.

    I did a claim for my refrigerator. Someone came out within 24 to 48 hours. They were able to fix the refrigerator. But it started shortening out. Now, I had to get a new refrigerator and I had to pay for it. The next appointment wouldn't have been until today. The claim went in the beginning of August, around the 1st or the 2nd. But after the tech came out, they couldn't come back out until the 11th. I couldn't go without a refrigerator that long.

    So far, I've only had to use American Home Shield twice. That was with the refrigerator and the other was for my air conditioner. I thought the warranty was more beneficial but now, I'm not so sure. They're working directly with techs outside of their system. I wish they can improve the recall process, things of that nature, and the timely response.

    Also, when talking to their rep, it was like she was uninterested at the time. It was the first time that I've had that experience. I'm not really satisfied at this point. I'm actually thinking about canceling the warranty. I have kids in my house and food was going bad and there was no refrigerator. The best they could do was get me the next available appointment. That was understandable. But there was glitching of my entire breaker box. It's like, "Okay, your tech did this."

    American Home Shield’s website is not super easy to deal with but it's better than trying to call them. Their phone support is terrible. It's difficult to get ahold of anybody. You have to wait through a deep phone tree. And when you talk to people, oftentimes it's an offshore resource that isn't necessarily clear on what you're trying to say and isn’t able to provide a solution. There’s a language barrier and they're not understanding what the problem is. The customer service template isn't necessarily addressing the problem.

    The people that AHS sends out are not always qualified. Ultimately, they take care of the problem. But oftentimes, it costs more effort and energy than it feels like its worth. We had a problem with the ice maker in our refrigerator and we're on the third trip of the person that is fixing it. Additional damage has occurred to the freezer drawer as a result of the work that he's been doing. But recently, my heat pump stopped working. I wasn't even home and my neighbor let the person in the house. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it immediately. It was great. AHS sent a flyer out about their new electronics policy and we tried to add it. My wife had to call customer service and it was terrible. The guy didn't even know what was going on. But overall, AHS provides a service. And although it's not tremendous, there is value there.

    The first time around, I was with American Home Shield for about 11 years. Then I got upset because my cooktop had been out since June and it was coming up Thanksgiving, and I didn't have my cooktop. They told me I could buy another one but everything I tried to buy was $3,000 more than what they were offering me. So, I canceled them. I spent $20,000 with them over 11 years and I could have bought me a cooktop. But my wife came home and was upset about it. So I renewed it. I ended up talking with a young lady in marketing and she helped me out with the cooktop.

    The claims process with American Home Shield is easy but you couldn't understand what the reps were saying. When I renewed and called about my air conditioner, the foreigners answering the phone told me the contractor that came out to my house said that this was an ongoing problem. I said that was not true. I talked with the person at marketing and it was explained to me that it’s what the contractors do when they think you are a new customer. But they could see I’ve been with them for 11 years and I just renewed after I quit. This time, even though it was a machine, I understood it. The contractor came out and I told him where the unit was. He checked to make sure none of the breakers were tripped on the inside of the house and went out to the unit. When he came back in, he said it was fixed and told me what was wrong with it.

    My pool pump went out. They sent me an email saying who would be handling my issue but the contractor didn't reach out immediately. I reached out to them once I realized who will be coming out and when they called me back, they told me they would not be able to do my issue 'til the next week. Wednesday is the only day that they really come to my area and I was not happy about that. But I went along with it. They asked me to send them pictures of what was going on. Also, I told them I would be out of town and they said they can take care of it while I wasn't there.

    I went on a seven-day cruise and once I returned, I saw that they sent me a text message saying they completed the job and everything was working. I thought they did a great job. But lo and behold, I got back and saw that what they placed on my pool was not the same gauge. It was spaced in a different way. It worked but it wasn't what I had. I called the contractor and I said, "Hey, what happened? Why I couldn't get the gauge back like it was? 'Cause you saw the pictures before you came out, and it took you almost a week to get out here so you could have had the appropriate pieces."

    They had put a gauge on facing upright laying flight which means I can't just look at it. It's facing directly for the sun to hit it every day and the readings are gonna be hard to read. I didn't wanna pay my pool maintenance people out of pocket because I had my warranty. They would have had the exact same part as it wasn't hard to find. AHS's contractor could have at least gotten the right part. I contacted the contractor but the tech said, "Well, I'll see. We can possibly get it, but, basically, I'm gonna charge you again to come out and fix it." I called American Home Shield and they denied the claim. I told them that it was the tech's mess-up in the beginning anyway and I shouldn't be charged. But they wanted me to pay for somebody to come out again.

    With AHS, some contractors are good and others are bad. Two of the techs I've had in the three years were horrible and they wanted to not really fix anything and just get paid.

    I called American Home Shield on June 23rd and they were supposed to send someone out on July 3rd. They called and said that the person that they were sending out had been in a rollover accident. They finally sent somebody out on July 12th and they told me I had to pay $2,420 before they could do my central air because that's what I called them for. I was telling them I'm a senior citizen and my house is hot. I need my air. I finally got it installed on Monday but the contractor had to wait till American Home Shield said that they would pay for the condenser. I shouldn't have had to go through that.

    I told AHS I was gonna find another home warranty. They take my money every month out of my checking account automatically. They take out what they want. I found out they had gone up on my payment a couple of times. So it's not right. When I need my service, I got to go through this and have to wait. But the contractors were nice. I had one for my electrical and another one for the central air.

    If you have an issue, talking to American Home Shield’s reps is hard. They tell us that you can have two things done but when you do, the contractor is not very happy about it. The worst one was when we had two ovens that had an issue and the vendor said he wasn't going to do it because AHS wouldn't pay him for it. Trying to get the people that you call to get it straightened out was a real pain. The benefit of having AHS is you have somebody to call to get it taken care of. But you can't get out information. Most of the time, it's straightforward. But there was a period of time that when you call and try to talk to somebody, they have a script and tell you the same stuff. The reps just don't listen. They're probably not allowed to do anything. And maybe there's nothing they can do but go by a script and say whatever, so they can get you to hang up. And then nothing gets resolved.

    The last few times have been okay. But in the past, it took a long time for the vendor to come. The people on the phone don't have any control at all. There's nobody else to talk to. Maybe the other services are the same. The drains were slow running and the techs came in. It's draining better than it was. But they said it's under the house so it's not their problem anymore and I gotta pay somebody else to come out. Maybe that's all the service they have but if I would have called in and asked them now, I wouldn't have gotten an answer. AHS’s prices have gone up lately so I started looking. I can get a better price for the same service.

    We called in a service request when our air conditioner went out. The guy came out here and told us the things that were wrong with our air conditioner. The coil was leaking and the condenser was going out. The coil needed to be replaced. Then he offered us this product and said that he could redo our air conditioner on the program that American Home Shield has. American Home Shield would give us some type of an upgrade system to our air conditioner.

    We listed to all the things that he was gonna offer, and we said, “Okay,” and then we went with another air condition company because they were offering something better. We turned in the receipts as to us paying because we thought the guy had reported that our air conditioner was broke. But American Home Shield said, “Well, no. he only thing that was wrong with your unit was the fan.” We talked to the guy back and then he told us that the only thing that we would have to pay on it was $2,000 for them to come in and do the air conditioner. But then it turned to be 8,600, so we only had to pay the whole 8,000. We sent in a request for reevaluation but they said they couldn't reevaluate it.

    We had a claim for our hot water heater. If you turned on the hot water, nothing would come out. The first person that came out to fix it said that it needed to be flushed and it's a problem with these particular units. They're made in Japan and they just have different things. It's too small of a pipe so things get stuck in it, and then that was what was wrong. So he flushed it and said that it was fixed, and he said it would happen again. He made it sound like it would happen in a year or two from now. But it happened the next day so we didn't have hot water again.

    I have five kids and school was starting. So we called American Home Shield again, and then they sent out the same plumbing company. It was a different plumber this time and he said that these do have that issue, but he had called about the warranty from the actual manufacturer, and went through some processes, and the motor was bad in our unit. It was covered under the manufacturer warranty. But we needed to pay him to install the part because that was not covered and that would not be covered under our American Home Shield because we were still under a manufacturer warranty. I called American Home Shield and they said it was true. But it didn't make sense to me because why would you purchase the product if it doesn't help you?

    We have two units and the one that we have upstairs was messing up. During the day, the air will go up and it didn't stay at the temperature that I set it at. At night, it would come back down. It took about a week after we did a claim to American Home Shield for someone to come out. The first week that I called, the tech couldn't come until the next Friday. I told the tech that came out that I didn’t see the fan turning on the other one so he went out there. He said it was some kind of new thing or something he had to put in there. He got the unit working and it's been doing good ever since.

    American Home Shield will have people come out and see what's wrong. The only thing I don't like is that some things are not on the warranty and that requires you to pay out-of-pocket. Other than that, they are on time. American Home Shield gives you different service companies. Lately, I really like the ones that have come out. I told people I have American Home Shield because they not only did my AC, they did my stove and my dryer as well. It's good to have this home warranty. They’ll tell you if they could find you somebody right then. They'll call you back when they can't find someone.

    We had a stoppage at our washer/dryer. The water backed up. I called American Home Shield and they said, “What is your problem?” I told them what it was, and they wrote it down. I gave them my name, address, telephone number, and email. AHS called the contractor and they came out and fixed it. It's easy. However, AHS went up on their service call and didn't let me know. All I got was I looked at my bank statement and I saw. Because I was told it was one thing, but they charged me something else. The rep said, “Your contract was up and it goes up to this now.” I was not notified that it would go up. So, “No. We're not gonna play this game.     Appliance Doctor came out for my dishwasher and my refrigerator. They were good. The dishwasher is working okay. But the refrigerator still has a problem. The parts are not in yet. One guy told me that American Home Shield didn't wanna pay the rates. Then they sent another one and the other guy said he ordered the parts. But then it turned out that American Home Shield did not wanna pay for the repairs. They just wanted to pay him for his diagnosis.

    American Home Shield sent a third guy out. He did do some repairs. But he said that American Home Shield just wanted to pay for repairs on the washer, and on the refrigerator, they had to schedule another guy to get a third opinion. He said he was gonna order some parts. They told me that those parts are ordered, but it's gonna take a couple of months for them to get them. Also, it's frustrating all the time when you call American Home Shield support. There's always a language barrier. It's hard to communicate with that. Their hellos and their goodbyes are scripted, and they're so long.

    The AC was turning on and all the motor was running, but it wasn't getting cool. We made a phone call to American Home Shield on a Monday and the contractor was there on Friday. It was fast. The contractor was super, super nice. They called right away to say, “This is the earliest we can get you in. If he has time on Thursday, he might be able to squeeze you in.” They also asked me questions like, “Does it turn on?", "Is it making noise?," and "Do you hear the motor running?” So they had an idea of what they were doing. The tech came early morning and he was really good about letting me know that he was gonna be out in half an hour. So that was very nice.

    The tech was fantastic and super knowledgeable. When he came, he said, “I think I have a good idea. Is it off now?” I said, “Yes.” He said, “Can you leave it off, please?” He went in the back and did whatever he did. Then he came back out and he said, “Okay. Can you turn it back on and turn your thermostat down to, like, 60?” It really kicked in quick so we could make sure it was working.     American Home Shield replaced one appliance and repaired two appliances for me. I've also had them come out for plumbing, an outdoor faucet and two toilets. But the people that they subcontracted with for the plumbing job were absolutely horrible. They had to come out here three times to finally get it fixed. At one point, my hose would not turn off at midnight, and so I had to turn off all the water to the house. It was a horrible experience.

    American Home Shield responded really quickly. But they should be able to reach their contractors regardless of what time of day it is if there's an emergency. I was told, “You're screwed until the morning. There's nothing we can do. It's midnight.” I told them, “Well, exactly. That's why I'm calling you. It's midnight. It's an emergency.” I don't plan on keeping American Home Shield for long once I get the things I need covered done. If I get the things that I need fixed done, it seems silly to keep paying for something that I'm not gonna need for a long time.

    I like American Home Shield's customer service and the professionalism of the company as a whole. They are very responsive. If there's anything that you don't understand or if you have to call in to make a service request, they're pretty much knowledgeable. When team members have to come out to the property, they are equally, if not more as knowledgeable explaining different things every step of the way.

    When I turned the faucet on, I could hear this noise like it was pressure. So I turned the water off. But I heard it a couple of times. So I called American Home Shield and they sent out a representative. I told him that I couldn't recreate the sound. He told me to give them a call if it happened again or I could record it.     I have American Home Shield as an insurance policy in case something does. My experience has been great. My burner on my stove quit working. The ice maker and my freezer quit working. And where you put your soap in for your dishwasher, it wouldn't open. It was super easy to set up a claim. The workers were very prompt, professional and quick. The lady in the office would call and schedule. And they gave me ample different times that they could come out that work with me. It was just one guy that came. They fixed all three of my appliances for me and everything works great. I would recommend them to anybody. Since I had three appliances I had to have service, the 150 wasn't bad. If I only had one thing, it was high. But if it had been my air conditioner, the 150 would have been reasonable.

    I like the convenience of not spending out of pocket for workers to come to my house and provide a service. I save money that way. However, I've noticed that there's an increase in American Home Shield's monthly payment and I wasn't aware. I didn't get a notification that they would increase the payment until they took the payment out. I had to call them to put in a claim for them to hire a plumber to come out to my house. And that's when I inquired about the payment increase. I asked them, and they told me that, yes, there is an increase in payment.

    I had an experience last September where my water heater broke. AHS couldn't find a provider to come and fix or replace my water heater. I had to find my own contractor. That was a big inconvenience for me. I had to do out of pocket expenses. Because it took them forever to keep the line of communication open, whether if they could find someone to come out and fix my water heater or not. It was a hassle with the back and forth. And I had to wait six weeks to get my money refunded. Because I had to pay out of pocket to have someone else come and put the water heater in. I had to keep calling them about finding someone to be able to provide the service of fixing my water heater or getting it replaced.

    Not only they didn't find anyone, they still took my $100. And it took a while for them to reimburse my money. I wasn't happy about that. At the time, I paid $56 a month, and I've been paying that for years. They only paid me back the money that I put out to have a new water heater installed. But they never gave me my $100 back.

    I've used American Home Shield for years. It has been in my home and one of my rentals for years. And I had them on some of my other homes and rentals too. The contractors have all been very professional. The tech was out within a day for the air conditioner, which is very unusual. It's a 22-year-old unit and had to be replaced. A policy is there to replace your major items. So, it's always nice to have something replaced than having to put out that money you paid for over the last so many years. The price has inched up each year and one of my policies is cheaper than the other one. But I may have gotten a discount.

    This last time, the website said I had to approve replacing the air conditioner but there was no place to approve it. So, I ended up calling the air conditioning company. Also, you see it online and there are some of the costs involved. They said it was gonna be an extra $500 and maybe there’s some detail in there. But other than that, I've had no problems.

    The smoke alarm was going off and on randomly during the day. It was about 20 feet above the floor in the living room where I live because it's got an arched ceiling and I couldn't look at it. So I called American Home Shield and they sent the contractor. They had a long ladder and they got up there and looked at it, and said they had to replace the smoke alarm. Something about the radioactive material in it was having a problem. The techs replaced it with no problems at all. They were very courteous and well aware of what was going on.     I placed several calls with American Home Shield, mainly for HVAC, and Air Design was assigned to several. In all of them, the AC wasn't functioning properly and I received A+ service from Air Design. I used to go online to submit claims to AHS but I'm calling them in now. AHS has a lottery system it seems like, where they send it to the next contract that is in the queue. I want consistency. So if Air Design was the one that serviced it last month and it's giving me a problem again the following month, I want the same company and technician to go back out. So we're not starting from scratch again. I usually end up having to leave a message with most other AC companies. But the customer service reps at Air Design are very accessible. Typically when I call them, I'll hold for a minute or two or sometimes get in directly with them. They've done so many of my properties that many of them know me by name now.

    I have 39 accounts and HVAC is what I typically submit requests for. So it typically goes to three different companies. Air Design now knows me and my properties. So the service I get is very good from the customer service reps. Whenever they have to reach out to management to get approvals, it's usually relatively fast. The technicians usually get it right the first time. There have been times when they had to go out two times because they didn't get it right. But they'll usually show up on time and do what they need to do. I have recommended AHS to my friends and they have not had the same experiences I've had. Because I've been using it for so long, I've learned the way to navigate through the system. You have to build relationships and you have to ask for specific vendors. If they give you a random vendor, it seems like at times, they're just there to collect your service charge, which is now $100 so it's high now, and say it can't be covered.

    It looks like most vendors are looking for reasons not to cover you as opposed to a reason to cover you. But that's how insurance companies and warranty companies make their money. And then, they will upsell you. They'll say it's not covered but they'll do it for $900, which is the old bait and switch and it ends up frustrating everybody. At this point, my tenant's without AC for three days. And I'm mad because I wasted all this time. I have recommended AHS to family and friends, and they have not had success. They've been upset and frustrated and they'll usually end up dropping it after the first year. I'm happy with American Home Shield but I would not recommend it to people. They don't know how to navigate the system.

    My experience with AHS has been hit or miss. It seems like they outsource all their customer service reps overseas. The folks are very friendly but they all have deep accents that can be hard to understand sometimes and there’s a language barrier. And the most frustrating part is American Home Shield offers cash-in-lieu. There are times when I don't agree with their assessment and their contractor's assessment. So I will take the cash-in-lieu. And many times, they'll say what the cash out is.

    Every time, AHS has this system in place where they do not mail the check to the right place. I'll be specific in the email that I'll send them not to send the check to the covered property address and to send it to the mailing address, which is my home address. But without fail, every time, they'll end up sending it to the covered property, which is where my tenants are. There have been two occasions where my tenants got hold of the checks and cashed them. Even though I have it in writing in bold, I'll highlight it and even speak to the rep. I know the reps are doing it because they'll even repeat the information back. But there's a disconnect between the reps and the one that cuts the check. They say the two systems do not talk and do not check that. They just look at the account and send it out. That is not good. One time, it took almost eight months for a check to arrive, because they sent it four different times.

    We were having issues with our hot water. There was residue coming out. Mountain Plumbing fixed it for us last year. Then this year, it started happening again. The guy told us last year that if it would happen again, it would need to be replaced because it was about 20 years old. It happened again, so we claimed it through American Home Shield, and Mountain Plumbing came and replaced the old one with a new one.

    Overall, AHS is really awesome to work with when you make the initial claim and get everything going. But then for the plumbing issue, we had to wait. We made that claim in May, and it wasn't fixed until last week. AHS sends the equipment from the East Coast to the West Coast, and then once it gets here, the companies like Mountain Plumbing have to make sure that's the right equipment before they can put it in. So that process in itself, took the longest with the equipment that we needed fixed to come from the East Coast to the West Coast.

    The air conditioner wasn't blowing cold recently. I submitted a claim online with AHS. The website was user-friendly. It was easy to put in a claim if you need something. The tech was very professional and pleasant. He took a look at the equipment and he knew exactly what the issue was, and he was done. It was done quickly.     AHS is responsive. It's usually delays due to local service technicians. But the techs are usually prompt and they communicate well and get to the root of the problem. We've had a couple of cases where an appliance had to be replaced. And then with the air conditioning unit, they were able to repair it without replacing. I like the peace of mind of having the big-ticket item, like the air conditioning unit was just fairly old, and knowing that we won't be horribly out of pocket if something goes wrong with that.

    There was water leaking from the back of the refrigerator. I called in a service request to AHS. It was easy. However, the service provided by Appliance Protection was mediocre. The reason is, what was wrong was a cracked line to my refrigerator. The water line going up to fill up your ice machine had a crack in it. So every time you went to fill up the ice machine, it would spew water on the back of the refrigerator and on the wall. What the repairman did was put a little joint. He cut the tube and then put one end of the tube and the other end of the tube into different ends of a joiner. That worked for about a week. Then that started leaking. Instead of replacing the tube and putting me a whole new tube, he just did a quick fix and it didn't solve the problem permanently.

    I did a callback and said, “What was supposed to be fixed wasn’t fixed.” This was my beef with AHS. They wanna charge me another $100 to come back and fix what was supposed to be fixed the first time. They finally waived that after many phone calls and several complaints. They even sent me an email, said I had an outstanding $100 due on this. But they sent someone else out who replaced the line.

    I have two claims currently. One for the HVAC unit. That unit, I went ahead and was supposed to have a new outside condenser unit put in. It was shipped over a week ago and is up in Maryland. American Home Shield, for some reason, is holding it up in Maryland and not sending it down to the contractor to install it here. Number two, that same air conditioner, I had an evaporator coil that was leaking. I did a cash-out option. That was back in May. I still have not received the check. AHS has not impressed me.

    On July 19th 2023, I put in a service request to have my air conditioning fixed. Prior to the request my A/C would not blow cold air. Eventually, it would not turn on entirely. AHS assigned Right Tech Heating & Air Inc. to come out and diagnose the issue. On July 25th 2023, the service technician Greg said that the entire A/C unit would have to be replaced because the condenser and compressor were damaged and non-functional. He said he would write up the report and we would have to wait for AHS' approval. On July 28th I received an email from AHS to call for the Pro's recommendation and the next steps. I proceeded to call Right Tech Heating & Air and they informed me over the phone that AHS had approved the condenser unit replacement, but not the electrical line modifications which would cost me $850 out of pocket. They said I would need to call AHS to confirm in order for them to place the order on the condenser unit which would take approximately two weeks to arrive.

    I immediately called AHS and they gave me the same information. I told them I was willing to pay the $850 and for them to proceed with the authorization. AHS informed me to give Right Tech Heating & Air Inc. a call back to let them know that they have approved things on their end. I called Right Tech Heating & Air back and the representative Jenna confirmed AHS' approval with me over the phone. She told me that they would be in touch in about 2 weeks once the new condenser unit arrived. I asked if there was anything that needed to be signed or paid. She said not yet.

    Fast forward to August 7th 2023 I get a call from an entirely different company, "Mister Freeze HVAC Inc" asking to set up service appointment for my A/C. I told them I never authorized another service appointment and that I would have to confirm with AHS what was going on before agreeing to anything. I called AHS and they said that the AHS' Authorization department wanted to get a second opinion on the A/C unit and that they were scheduling for a new contractor to inspect my A/C unit free of charge. I looked up the reviews of the new contractor, "Mister Freeze HVAC Inc" and found nothing, but 1 star reviews out of 5 on Yelp. I also filed a complaint with AHS on this same company months prior for failing to show to my home multiple times on a different service request. I was shocked to find that they were still using the same company months later.

    Furthermore, the company has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. I expressed my concern to AHS and requested a different contractor to which I was told every other contractor was booked. I told them it was fine and that I could wait. But the representative I spoke to insisted & told me I had nothing to worry about. On August 8th, two technicians from Mister Freeze HVAC came to my home and said that someone tampered and cut the wiring to the compressor and that the compressor cover had been cut and removed. I called AHS to find out what the report meant for me and they are now trying to deny coverage of my A/C unit. I was really not surprised! This whole situation screamed fraud!

    On August 11th, I called AHS to escalate the issue. I was informed the authorization department initially approved Right Tech Heating & Air's request for a new condenser unit, but when they requested more money for more the replacement items & repairs the authorization department put in a new request for a second opinion which is where Mister Freeze came in. AHS said that the contractor's reports did not match and that they were going to go off of Mister Freeze HVAC Inc's report. I told AHS that it seemed very convenient for them now that they did not have to cover this expensive repair and that I wanted to escalate this issue even further because one of their two contractors is definitely lying!

    The company that benefits the most from this decision is AHS which leads me to believe Mister Freeze HVAC Inc cut the wires. AHS said I would be contacted by a superior in 24 hours for the issue. They've offered to send out a 3rd contractor, but I told them that that would do me absolutely no good if one of their two contractors had already tampered with my A/C unit! This company along with its contractors are fraudsters! I am reporting them to my local state department of insurance and BBB. Stay away at all cost!

    In case of my water heater, I paid almost 90% of costs out of my pocket. I paid $1380.00 and AHS paid $65.00 plus labor costs. When I contacted contractors outside, they gave me quotation for $1600.00 for complete replacement. AHS claims to provide replacement, but they have clauses in the name of replacement. They make you pay the total costs. I didn’t have any alternatives to get it done by outside contractors since I paid monthly premiums and $100.00 service fees was already charged. But I had to pay out of my pocket. If paying my premiums, service fees and total costs of the replacement, what is the use of that useless home warranty? I just got my policy cancelled today! Consumers, please be aware of this insurance!! Don’t take the medicine that doesn’t heal your disease!! But change the medicine!!

    American Home Shield tends to partner with smaller companies and smaller companies tend to go with somebody like American Home Shield because it gives them leads. I prefer that because then, it's easier to know who you're dealing with. You can do a quick internet search and you can find out what people say about them. Usually, they're always from my area. But one time, they had a plumber coming from quite a ways out of area. I just called them and asked if they could get somebody closer and they did.

    In my previous residence, which was where we had our first policy, we had a claim for an appliance and the guy who came up had to drive two and a half hours up just to make the service call. But it couldn't be fixed. So, he came back the next day and installed a new one. He was a super nice man. I also really appreciated the people that AHS send out because they follow through. You can call them back and they're up on it.

    We had a claim when our air conditioner along with everyone else in the world decided to freeze up and kick down. The guy came and checked it out. He told us to turn if off then he started it up. A couple of weeks later, the same thing happened because the poor thing was running 24/7. My husband asked if we should turn it off again and he told us to wait. He said he wanted to come back out and that he didn't want us to do it until he has checked it. He was very responsive and he walked my husband through some things. Plus, we didn't have to pay for a second follow-up because it was all connected to the same service call. Other than that, the price of the policy is reasonable. I was sad to see the deductible go up this year, but what hasn't gone up?

    The technicians are very trashy. Last week, I had a technician come out. He was up and down the house but he didn't know what he was doing. He left with a report that the system is working fine. American Home Shield sent out another technician and he found problems and fixed them. But the system is back to where it was. The room is as hot as hell.     So far, American Home Shield has worked out for me. Every time I've called them, they've always come through and done the work for me. I have them on two properties. What I like about them is that, usually, when I call, they get someone out right away for me. There was a time they sent somebody to my house. I don't know how reputable that individual was, but I did not allow him to do the work that I was needing to get done. It was an air conditioning person. They said I was supposed to get a new air conditioning unit, and this guy said I didn't need one.     I did a claim for a hot water heater and another for my air conditioner. American Home Shield did their job, but the plumbing company did not. The technician couldn't find a replacement. He didn't understand what he was doing. American Home Shield gave me cash-in-lieu so I could go take care of it myself. For the AC, it was on and cold but not blowing cold air out of the vents. The secretary asked if there was anything blocking. I had remodeled a room and there was a lot of dust from the drywall. I did not replace the vents soon enough. When I did, it was like flour was in there. I choked my AC so to protect itself, it went into a restricted mode. She said, “You turn it off for 24 hours. Turn it back on and see if that fixes the problem. If you need us to come out, we will, if that doesn't fix it."

    I turned it back on when she said that. It’d been off for two days. Immediately, it worked fine. But they came out still. The repairman inspected it and didn't charge me anything other than my service fee. He gave me some great advice. On another house, American Home Shield replaced two refrigerators. They helped with the AC too. Almost every time, I'm 100% satisfied.

    The technician checked out the air conditioner and determined the part that was faulty. He said he had to put in a claim with American Home Shield. They came back the following day and authorized the part for it to be fixed. The guy was friendly but his company was overwhelmed so it took a while for them to get back out and fix it. But he gave us a tip. He said to cut the system off and run the fan and that helps suck the heat out of the house. It seems to help a little bit. My biggest problem is when you call, you get a foreigner and they're just reading the script. It's hard dealing with them. They don't understand exactly what you're trying to tell them.

    I called American Home Shield and said that the air conditioner was not getting cold. When the tech came, he just looked at it and said nothing was wrong with it. He said it was just hot outside and didn’t do anything. He was very knowledgeable and professional though. Also, I like that American Home Shield covers more than one issue. When it comes to electrical or water, if I have more than one place affected by the same thing versus one area, I can call and they give a quick response. They would get in touch with a vendor and get someone out to take care of whatever that needs to be fixed. However, the automated system doesn't help a lot when you have more than one warranty situation going on in the house. It only records one thing, so I have to talk to somebody in person and tell them that it's an additional room.

    Overall, American Home Shield is good, but the prices are getting a bit too high. With the economy, your paycheck ain’t going up and everything else is going up. If the affordability is going up, people would have to go with somebody that really work for their budget. There are so many places that are trying to get us. At this time, AAA is trying to get us to come over, as well as Endurance.

    We had American Home Shield for 19 years but since we built a new house, I don't need it anymore because the house is already under warranty with the home builder. The service was good when I had them. They did electrical and plumbing repairs. They fixed the washer once. They also fixed the water heater and the air conditioner. It was just hard to get something online or to call somebody. It was hard to get people, but once we got the people out, it was fine. The technicians who came out were all good. I had to pay out of pocket once for my roof. They replaced two sections of the roof because they weren't sure exactly where it was leaking from. AHS covered up to 1,500. Then we had to cover 2,600.

    I am not extremely happy with AHS. When I had to have my air conditioner done, it took quite a few days. The tech came and fixed it. Then again, it went out. The second time, they fixed it correctly. But when it went out first, they gave me appointment times that he would come in at 5:30. Never showed up. Then my daughter got involved. She called directly. His mailbox was full. Then finally, when she got through, he said, “I don't work after 5:00. I don't know why they keep giving you that appointment.” Finally, they got it fixed.

    For my dishwasher claim, the techs came out and they said they found a mold, and they couldn't honor it so I had to pay $800 and put a new dishwasher in. The way the rep made it sound when I called, my option was to get it sterilized, and then they would fix it. I waited a couple of weeks. I called back, and then the rep I got the second time said to me, “We don't do that. She must have suggested that to you.” As far as the dishwasher guy, he was very nice.     I pay a monthly premium for warranty of home appliances. I have been in contract with this company for approximately 8 to 9 years. I put a claim in for a broken AC unit back in May 2023. The contractor has submitted a price to fix or replace the unit. American Home Shield has denied both repair quotes from the contractor that they had hired in the 1st place. Now it is August 2023, the hottest year on record in Arizona and we still have no AC. Yes this is an expensive repair but I have paid monthly 54.00 dollars for 8 years. I also pay a 125.00 service fee. My most recent premium also increased to 72.00. I don't mind paying but I believe I have NOT been getting what I pay for.

    American Home Shield's premiums are very high. And they can be at times a hassle. I called my recent claim in. Winston Doors was responsive. What I did not appreciate was, I know that the door needed repair. They acknowledged that and got approval. But the tech tried to upsell to a new garage door opener. I already paid a $100 deductible. “It's usually 800, and because you're American Home Shield, it can be for $400.” I don't appreciate that because I'm a consumer. I have an item that they need to repair. Just repair it and move on. But they were responsive. They were one of the fastest ones that I've had. I've had claims that are six months old before they were resolved.

    Where I live, 95% of the time AHS doesn't have a vendor. So, I go through the hassle trying to find my own contractor. And I have to find one that's willing to call them back and say, "Mother, may I?" It's ridiculous. If I'm gonna pay for something, and you sell yourself, and you have all this vast network, but you don't have it, that's not right. They're not consistent. They're not interested in their claim process. And most of the time, they don't always have a contracted vendor for that particular ZIP code.

    I paid for the silver shield service from America Home Shield for 16 months. They took this payment every month and I put in 3 requests for service during this time. They were unable to support on any service. They charged me 125-150 for each one of these requests and at NO point did any contractor ever actually show up. In the final instance, they put in an incorrect statement of what was wrong - I was very detailed and specific about the problem and they flat out LIED to the contractor who was then (of course) not able to support with the real problem.

    The service requests were for 1 plumbing (broken fitting), 1 roof (leak), and 1 electrical issue. I live in an area where there are LOTS of service technicians and within 1 hour of a large (nearly 1 million) metroplex. I was able to resolve every issue myself within a short window of time after I gave up on AHS finding a contractor.

    Since the first two requests were unsuccessful as online requests, for the 3rd request I called thinking perhaps they could tell me if there is a relevant provider. Either the customer service agent knows NOTHING about plumbing and cannot take notes, or she lied to the contractor that they called and lied in the request that I can see on my dashboard because neither match what I verbally stated to her repeatedly on the phone call.

    To make it even better, when you finally do give up on them, you have to call them to cancel your contract and they try to sell you a different contract. They are determined to get their money! To close the contract, you have to pay a fee - yep, you got that right. A fee to cancel a service that has never provided you anything except cost. This is how they stay in business.

    I have two zones and my upstairs air conditioning unit wasn't blowing cold air, so it kept getting hotter and hotter. I opened up a claim that Friday morning and we got a call within a few hours from Jersey Central Air to say that they would come out first thing Saturday morning. They were wonderful. We expressed to them that it was getting to 86 degrees upstairs. It was so hot, and it was during a heat wave. The repair guy said that if he happened to get done earlier, he would swing by that day. We live in the same town and he came the same day. He called us around 4:00 in the afternoon and said that he finished his last job and he would be happy to come over and take a look.

    The repair guy was able to fix my AC. It needed a part and he had it on his truck. Within minutes, cold air was blowing again out of my AC unit and we slept comfortably. It was a great experience, and having our AC unit fixed the same day beat our expectations. However, sometimes it's very difficult to get a live person from American Home Shield. When we have a problem, it seems like we have to jump through the hoops to get someone to respond.

    I've got 10 properties insured through AHS in 20 years and they're pretty good in most areas. But in Ruidoso, New Mexico, they're not good about responding with providers. They don't have providers in Ruidoso and in Carlsbad. I recently made a claim for my AC. It didn't cool for a couple of days, then it started cooling. But the techs didn't come for two weeks. In the end, they resolved it and it started working on itself. It just froze up. Other than that, if something needs to be fixed, usually, AHS can take care of it. And if you're having to replace an AC anywhere, they take the bulk of the cost. It's also easier for me to pay a little at a time than the whole thing at once. Aside from that, I would appreciate them if they would get people on the phone who have a little better fluency of English. With the ones I spoke to, it was hard to understand their accent. So you have to either make them repeat or you say, what you think you heard.

    In the beginning, AHS was really good. But lately, the quality of service has declined and the price has gone up. Recently, I needed my toilet repaired in my master bedroom and I got the worst service I've ever gotten. It took six months and the whole reason behind it was that they just really didn't want to do it. I ended up calling them crying and I told them that I was paying them every month for this service but I still had a broken toilet in my house. They weren't expedient in calling me back and the level of service was horrible all the way around. They sent someone to my house and because of the amount that they were willing to give the contractor, he thought that was not even worth of him even going back over here again. So he just never came back.

    AHS sent another guy and he was trying to get me to give him extra money on the side because he said we were not going to be able to replace it. He said that AHS was going to give us an $8 toilet and it was not going to look like the toilet we had at the time. So, the whole thing was weird. AHS ended up giving me $275 and I had to buy my own toilet. The replacement value that they provided was not even half the amount that I ended up having to pay to have my toilet replaced. I also had to hire a contractor outside then have them come and install it. AHS should value my business more than to leave me with just $275 for a toilet knowing that it was going to cost $800 to purchase the toilet and have it installed. They're a big company and they should do better.

    Other than that, AHS was really good with the repairs of other things like my water heater, my garage door, and my dishwasher. But when it gets more expensive, they get really cheap. The techs that they send out are usually friendly and professional, but American Home Shield is not the best. When I tried to cancel, they didn't cancel my service. So I still have them but it's not by choice. I have their warranty on my rental property, too and I recently used them there. The techs came out and fixed the air conditioner.

    What I like about American Home Shield is whenever I call them and let them know something is wrong, they respond right away and get people down there to take care of it. The overall claim process is fine. I've only had one instance where AHS didn't quite live up to what I expected of them. That was when I had an issue with my washing machine. The cylinder that held the drum broke and they didn't replace it. They said it broke because the washing machine was overloaded, and I didn't quite understand what it meant. I was a little bit concerned. I kept trying to explain to the guy, "There's a fixed capacity. So how can we overload it?" We had to dig into our pocket and replace the washing machine. That was the only time that they were a bit ingenuine. When I requested service recently, the repair people came in and saw what it was. The guy told me what was wrong, and three days after that, it was fixed. Now, everything is working fine.

    I've had American Home Shield since 2009. Our house in the states, and we've had nine years here, which have been all positive experiences except for one time. We were at the embassies in London and Budapest and we had rental houses here, so we used them overseas also. Their service is very fast, and I like the security that I can get things fixed very quickly, except for my refrigerator, which was really bad. We were having a party for 150 people, and my big Thermador kept shutting off. I said, “I've got 13 people staying at my house for this party.”

    American Home Shield sent somebody out and they said, “Oh, no, we can't do it.” They sent another person. “No, we can't do it.” One guy said it was working, but as soon as he left, it shut off, so I said, “You know what? I don't care about your insurance.” I spent the 10 grand and bought a new one myself. That was the only time they didn't wanna spend that money. When my stove went out, they didn't have any parts for it. It was one stinking burner out of six burners and they replaced my stove. It was a $10,000 stove and they gave me 4,500, but we spent the difference because it's our forever home. I’m very satisfied with American Home Shield, and I'd definitely tell people to get it.

    There was a bit of a stoppage through a pipe. My husband was very pleased with the repair and with the technician from Phil's Good that came to repair it. As far as submitting the claim to AHS, I do it over their website and it was very easy. They send you an email and let you know that they received your repair request. They tell you who they gave the job to and they let you know that the contractor will call you within a certain amount of time to set up an appointment.

    We've been protected for 12 years now with the American Home Shield. What I like most about it is the convenience and not having to search for a contractor myself. We don't use it that often, but we feel more comfortable having the coverage as opposed to not. They've had some bumps and pitfalls at some point, but this latest interaction was very pleasant.

    I still got two open orders with American Home Shield that haven't been completed yet. I still haven't heard anything. One of them was for the icemaker that stopped making ice. They said I needed a part. They sent somebody out. They said it'll be a week and a half. It was three weeks ago. I called back. They said, “Oh, we tried to call you. And then we assigned it to somebody else.” Okay. So, I'm still waiting on the part.

    Then on my air conditioner, water start leaking out every time I put the air conditioner on. They sent a heating and cooling guy out. He said, “Oh, it's something with the drain. It’s clogged around there. We don't do it. They'll have to assign somebody else.” They gave me some pushback, but they said they reassigned it to somebody else and they were gonna send me a text and an email, which I never received.

    American Home Shield got great technicians. They've done what they were supposed to do if they can do it. The last one knew it was an air conditioning problem. It was something with the drain. He didn't do that type of work. I needed a regular plumber. The AHS customer service reps are really friendly and professional. It's just we need to get these issues resolved. I've had one claim in the past, and they took care of that with no problem.

    I'm currently having a problem with American Home Shield. Wright Refrigeration came out, fixed the problem for, and they were great. Then, when they left, my ice maker stopped making ice. The guy told me that they would come back out. American Home Shield was saying that they were going to charge me for another appointment, which I explained to the guy that my refrigerator was making ice prior to him leaving. He was like, "Okay, not a problem."

    A couple of days passed by, and it started making ice. So I canceled the appointment, but AHS sent me an email saying that I need to update my payment card for the appointment. They were trying to charge me another $100 for a service call. I haven't gotten in touch with them yet. I noticed that they took $86 out of my account. I'm said, "Why are you taking money out of my account?" They said, "It's your monthly bill." I said, "That's not how much my monthly bill is." She said, "Well, no, it's from back billing or something." I was like, "No, because my payment has been drafted."

    Wright Refrigeration was great, but I'm always having problems with American Home Shield. When my ice maker originally broke, I had to buy a whole new dispenser. The guy that they sent out said that I broke the piece on purpose, and they denied my claim. I was like, "Who goes into the refrigerator and breaks stuff?" I did an appeal. They denied my appeal. So, I had to buy the ice maker right up front for $176. American Home Shield's claim process is fine. Their prices are too high. They went up on their prices and they never gave me a notice. They said, "Well, since you do your billing online, it's on your portal." They never sent me an email about the price-hike.

    AHS is very prompt, although there were a few calls where it was horrific trying to get a call through and talk to someone because I would be on hold forever. It was before so much was done over the web. But since then, it's been awesome. I don't even talk to anybody anymore unless I have an issue. In my very first claim with AHS, they replaced my refrigerator and they have replaced many things over the years -- the microwave, twice, the smooth-top stove, and inside and outside air conditioning components. The last time I called was when I was trying to get a particular service person out here. There was a company that I knew that worked for them who I wanted to come here and they helped me. Most recently, the light on the kitchen ceiling fan kept flickering even with a new bulb. Also, it had three speeds for the fan but only one or two of them was working. I submitted a claim with AHS and Hope Electric was called the same day. The tech was very quick to get here and he let me know he was on his way. He was here for about 30 minutes and he was able to fix the motor.

    The tech came out and did several things at one time, which included my dryer, my washer, my oven, my cooktop, and the refrigerator. So far, the contractors from American Home Shield have all been exceptional. But I do not like that you can only choose three things at one time when you submit a claim and it has to be within the same bracket. So, the techs come and look at your stove and the microwave. But it's $100 every time. AHS is a great company to have. Just make sure you go around and shop around with other people. But they're okay.

    I called American Home Shield and then it went through the automated system and I had to explain what was going on. One garage door didn't work at all, and the other one worked part way. They scheduled #1 Garage Door, LLC, and they texted me, and then the company called and we scheduled a day for the worker to come out. He came and fixed one because it was just the eye. The one that was partially working, the eye had shorted out and the chain was loose. So, he got that one working. On the other one, the board and the eye were shot. So, they had to order the board and I'm waiting for them to get that part. With the supply shortage, it takes a little while to get stuff in, but they'll let me know when they get it to come back and fix it.

    I am a disabled veteran and I have health issues. I also don't have any immediate family. So I like the assurance that with having AHS, I would have someone come in and repair whatever I needed.     AHS has good customer service. It's outsourced, probably to the Philippines, and the people that I dealt with were extremely polite, kind, patient, and really professional. I appreciate that in today's world. Just being polite is a big thing nowadays. They're fast, too. AHS has raised the fees, but that's part of life. Everything that I've asked for or was broken was taken care of, and when I disputed something, they were able to show me in the contract why it was correct. So I don't have any logistical complaint against them, because everything they said that they were going to do, they've done. I recently had A1 Phoenix come out for the disposal. They removed a metal part from the garbage disposal that got stuck in there, fixed it, and did what they were supposed to do.

    Then, I asked the plumber to please look at our faucet, because it was very loose and there was a loose part to it. He could not fix it, so I called American Home Shield and they said that according to the policy, if something is missing, it cannot be repaired. I was surprised, but that has become a non-issue to me. Over the years, they have sent out a few contractors who were weird, but I would tell them I would advise not to use those guys again. But overall, almost all of the techs have been pretty good. All in all, AHS has done a really good job over the last 20 years, so I'm sticking with them. I've had a few phone calls from people asking me to join their home warranty and they were a lot less expensive, but I told them no.

    My air conditioning system had a problem. I submitted a claim with AHS and it took them a couple of days to get a tech out. My experience was good and the tech was able to repair the AC. But I've had some techs who were not great. Also, AHS told me that the contract that I have now covered absolutely everything. I know there are always exclusions, but I've got an AC in my guest house that they're not covering now because they said the system was too old. That was a specific question I asked them, so I’m not too happy about that. But for the most part, they cover the things that they're supposed to without an issue.

    I went online on Sunday and put an electrical claim in. That Sunday afternoon, I got a call from an electrician wanting to come out and set an appointment. He was already booked Monday but was here Tuesday. I've used American Home Shield many times, and I've been very satisfied. I don't have to mess with calling anybody else. I don't have to get out the old-fashioned phone book or go online. My advantage is being able to get a trusted person after I file a claim with American Home Shield. If they are unsatisfactory people, American Home Shield would not use them again.

    When my new dishwasher went out, I called American Home Shield and paid the $125 for them to send somebody. He said, "It's working now. All you have to do is unplug it and plug it back in." But it happened again so I paid another 125, and another guy came. He replaced the motherboard. But I had to call them again two months later. When I called and did the report, the person didn't understand English very well. I was trying to explain that I had called them twice already, and it was gonna be the third, which means $375. I could buy a new dishwasher for that. She still didn't get it. I asked if there was a supervisor I could speak to because I didn't think that was right that I was having to pay a third $125. She said, "They're just gonna tell you the same thing." She put me on hold for a minute and came back saying they were all busy and that somebody would call me.

    I got a call at 5:00 AM. They were calling from the Philippines. They should be aware of the time zone difference. When I went through my issue with the rep, talking about the third time $125, she said, "We'll refund you for the March visit, but we have to do another $125 for this visit." But I have a problem with the not using folks that speak a good English language. When the electrician was here and he had to call, he had to keep repeating to this person over and over . They couldn't understand. It's probably cheaper to get people in another country, but customer service for us is not good. It's very frustrating. They give you the canned answer, "I'm sorry to hear that you're having that difficulty."

    American Home Shield is supposedly a reputable company, but the two times that I've had interactions with them have not been the greatest. The people taking AHS weren't rude but the second one was quite annoying. On the claim for my dryer, American Home Shield wasn't able to help me. They sent out a service person, but the service person said they didn't cover that. The company that they sent didn't offer to help either. That was one disappointment. We had another one claim recently. My refrigerator freezer wouldn't shut so the ice on top wouldn't make ice because it would melt. Then at the bottom, everything was frozen over. We called American Home Shield and told them it was an emergency because I was afraid that the top would stop working as well. My daughter has a very expensive treatment she gets every month at home. It has to be in the fridge.

    We started on Friday before 4th of July, and we didn't get any response. I talked to AHS then I kept calling back. They said, “We've contacted 11 different vendors, and nobody can come out. They can come out on the 10th.” They got a company, and when they contacted us, the earliest they could come out was on the 10th. I said, “I will be in Florida. Nobody will be here.” We went back and forth and ended up they could not get anybody out. I never got a call back until I was on vacation. That company said they could come out on the Monday we get back.

    The company came out when we came back. The gentleman told us that the bottom affects the top. He showed us what to do to get the ice to work on the top, where the setting should be. Then it took a couple of weeks to get the part for the bottom. Luckily, my daughter's medicine did not get affected by it. The medicine that was in there would have been 60,000 to 70,000. Even doing the bottom, we weren't sure if that would help the top because at the time, we didn't know that the bottom freezer affected the ice on the top. We took out the ice bucket on the top and turned off the ice maker on the bottom. We've lifted it, emptied it and put towels underneath. Fortunately, it worked out well. This past week, they came out and replaced the bottom piece.

    I'm very happy with AHS. I only have a $100 deductible which is great. I've never had them tell me they can't fix or won't fix. They took care of our electrical issue. The technician was great. The only thing is some of the technicians are a little slower at responding.

    I like American Home Shield a lot. It covers everything that we need and we're able to get help right away if we need something. Through American Home Shield, we had a plumbing technician come out that wasn't able to correctly diagnose our problem. But American Home Shield sent another one out at our request and they took care of everything. When our air conditioner broke down two weeks ago, they were able to get a technician out in a week. I was thankful for that because it was so hot here.

    The refrigerator was freezing everything. The contractor checked it, waited on the part, and are supposed to be here today to replace the part. They had the part Monday, but they couldn't get anybody out here to get it done until Friday. I've been without refrigerator and I have two grandbabies here. I'm also out of an air conditioner. They're supposed to be out here between 6:00 and 12:00 to fix it. It's 115 supposed to be today but they haven't came out. Everybody's been great, but it's the wait time to get anything repaired that I'm worried about. I like American Home Shield. They did my dishwasher and stove, but I wish that they'd have a little bit more urgency.

    I had a problem with my built-in microwave oven in my home in San Diego. The technician that went in there to check told us that it was not covered. We asked American Home Shield what was going on they got another technician. The second technician came out and he was friendly and okay. I had a lot of questions and he fully answered them. We were there to watch and see what the tech would find out. He saw what the problem was in there. The technician said he was going to get the parts. I'm happy that my built-in microwave oven problem got resolved and it's working now. I'm happy with American Home Shield.

    I call them when I submit claims and they ask questions on what I need done. Then, they give the phone number of the company that will be out and say that between 24 and 72 hours, somebody will get in contact with you. I recently had a toilet that was clogged up. We tried to pump it and tried to snake it but we couldn't get it to go down. American Home Shield had a technician come out and he brought in a certain kind of puncher and cleaned it. The next day or two, American Home Shield took their $75 out for the fee.

    Also, I had a claim on my air conditioner and they didn't do much about that and paid much on that. I paid the fee and they said it was something that wasn't covered. It seems like for bigger items, you pay for this stuff and it's not the part that’s covered or that’s not something they replace. That's the only thing I don't like about them. They should pay a little more on some of the items. They charge $75 every time somebody comes and I'm paying almost $92 a month for the service. And then when something major goes wrong, they say, “Well, that's not under your warranty.”

    My in-laws have been with American Home Shield for some time and they recommended them. I like the cost. It's not really too much to have a contract. It's maybe 40 bucks a month. When something goes out, that's a little out of my hands to where I can't repair. Last year our AC went out and the ticket was $100 to get somebody out here.

    One of the breakers on the circuit kept tripping and it kept going out. We tried multiple things. We then called American Home Shield and set up an appointment with their contractor, Kelly Brothers. The issue got that taken care of for us the same day. The tech was a good guy and his name was Jay. Everything's up and running as it should be.

    Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been nothing but positive. They are able to find a contractor who can come out maybe the next day. Whatever obstacle or issue is going on the house, the contractor is usually able to fix it that same day. They are not really leaving you out there too much, just giving you the runaround and waiting around. Usually, everyone's always communicating and that's what I like about the warranty. Another thing is they run promotions sometimes. Their website is easy to operate if you need to request service.

    I was out of a working tub for some time. When I submitted the online service thing with American Home Shield, the contractor contacted me that same business day, but they couldn't come out for three days. And when the tech came out, he only did a consultation and he had to schedule an actual service. So, I ended up being out of a tub for over a week. Lenny's Plumbing reached back out to AHS to see if there was another company that could expedite the service because they were backed up. Lenny's contacted me the next business day in the morning and told me that there was no other company that could come earlier. So, what the tech did was rearrange his schedule to come on that Friday. So, he made it two more business days and did the job.

    He was knowledgeable. He kept it professional. He did the job in a timely manner and cleaned up his mess afterward. I was very pleased. I newly moved into a house that ended up having an old drum trap in the piping that we didn't know prior to moving in, and it was clogged so that he had to do some repair of piping and add in an access panel, which he did not have to, but he did it for me. He went above and beyond. Everything has been working great since he fixed it. I also love that it was all covered under just my service fee instead of having thousands of dollars come out of pocket.

    The claim submission process is fairly easy but the contractors that are randomly chosen need to be more consistent with their timeliness. It shouldn't go three days before you hear from someone and make appointments. But Greendot Refrigeration who came out for my most recent claim have been very responsive.
