    AHS normally jumps right on my claims and I get good results. I appreciate that because when something breaks down, you want it fixed quickly. They got some reps who are coming and seem like they know what they're doing, while others will come, give a quick diagnosis of the problem, and say that they're not the company for the job. I had a claim and I couldn't figure out which one had an issue, the plumbing or the washer. When the plumbers came, they said it was the washer. They said they'd flush the thing for 10 minutes and it'd be done. Then, when the washer guys came, they said the washer was not leaking and that the problem was the plumbing. They also said you couldn't flush that with that little hose and think it was going to really unclog something.

    Finally, the plumbers had to come back out and snake. I don't know why they didn't snake it the first time but it's squared away now. So, some of the people that are coming out are very professional, then apparently, that plumbing folk came out and wanted to get out of here quickly. But when we contacted American Home Shield that we needed to have the plumbers back, they said they'd reschedule them back out and it happened.

    If I happen to get someone I don't like, I would contact AHS and tell them to take them off their thing and send me somebody else. And they've been very good about doing that. These last people I had who fixed my air conditioner in the 112-degree weather were really great and I would use them if I had Home Shield or not because they did such a good job.

    Also, if somebody tried to get us something that had been a return on something and we could tell, they're not going to pull that one on us. AHS has been helpful on that sort of stuff, which I appreciate, and I haven't switched to anybody else because there was no need to. Our home was built in '87, so things start breaking down and I'm sure that what I paid AHS last year already covered the cost of the service we had on the air conditioning. So, I look at it as we're able to manage more on a set budget by doing that and not having a $10,000 bill. Our daughter bought her first home and we told her to also put AHS on there.

    Submitting a claim is relatively easy. But it's the whole vendor scheduling piece that gets a little weird sometimes. The refrigerator has been leaking for two months. One of the vendors they gave said, "You have to be there between noon and 9 o'clock." I said, "Well, I can't be there between noon and 9 o'clock during the day. Can you give me a more refined time?" They said they couldn't so I tried to get a different vendor. I still haven't found one who can just diagnose the fridge. For my AC issue, someone was out in a day. That was effective. But their screening process and the process of getting feedback to the vendors might be in question.

    AHS changed their terms of use recently to not cover certain things. For instance, they won't replace an AC system completely. Instead, they say, "Well, we'll keep your system running, so we'll replace the coils and the internals." There is a limit on it. Historically, it was a lot better when they would just replace stuff. The price of the warranty is 70 bucks a month so that's not crazy for the amount of money that could be saved. What I don't like is the deductible every time they do service, it's 125 bucks.

    One of our AC units had zero power to it when we got home from a softball game at 7:30 at night. I went online and did a claim. That was excellent, easy, and very fast. Within five minutes of putting in the claim, I got a text message on my phone that we already had a provider scheduled to come out. This all happened at 9 o'clock at night. By 8 o'clock the next morning, I received a phone call to schedule a time with that provider. They were able to come out the same day within 35 minutes. This was in the heat of the summer during the day.

    I had some special requests because I work and live 30 minutes apart from each other. I have my parents who are one minute away but they're in their 80s. It takes some time to stop what they're doing, get in the car, and drive to my house even though it's one minute away. The service provider was required to call me 15 minutes before they got to the house so that they were not waiting for my parents to get there. Sure enough, they called. They then called back again and they said, "Hey, your parents aren't here yet. Is it okay if I go look on the outside for the AC unit to find out what's going on? I understand your parents will be here." My dad was a little bit late. But they were completely reasonable and they just waited until my parents got there. They found that we had blown something. They had my AC fixed in less than 30 minutes. It was fantastic.

    We recommend American Home Shield even though they are a little pricey. Throughout all of the years that we've had them, we've saved money by using them. We used it for the refrigerator, washing machine, water heaters, and air conditioning units several times. We've never had bad service or customer service. It's always been off the charts. Every service provider American Home Shield sent to us has been absolutely excellent. They take care of us 100%.

    When I have a claim, I place the call to American Home Shield, talk about the issue, and they take out the $100 from my account, and then they contact a repair company for that particular item. The only one that I had to wait a long time for was on my refrigerator last week, but I understand that their companies are busy, but it was taken care of.

    I stay with the techs while they're working and I want to get to know them a little bit. I had a ceiling fan replaced in my bedroom and the gentleman precisely laid out all the materials in a row and knew exactly when they were gonna go on. I commend each tech that has been here because they've been very knowledgeable, professional and congenial, too.

    I'm a widow and American Home Shield gives me peace of mind that when something is not working right, I just call them. It's hard to get a handyman and you don't know if you're getting a reliable person or not. So, I would rather have a professional come into my home and take care of anything. It's been all positive and that's great.

    The tech fixed one of the problems and another tech had to be referred out due to an appliance issue. I had a hose bibb that was leaking and it was repaired. I have a dishwasher that's malfunctioning and a technician is coming out to look at it today. The claims process went perfectly. But sometimes we dealt with problems because we lived far away and it took a while for a contractor to get in.

    I've done three claims so far with American Home Shield. We had a claim for our plumbing when we had our sump pump looked at. A tech came out and explained to us what was going on. It actually was functioning the way it was supposed to function. But the tech had to adjust it. He was good and was a really intelligent young man. He fixed the sump pump quickly and wasn't here for 10 minutes. Everything’s great.

    There was also a claim for a shower fixture and there was a little difficulty in getting the part that was needed for the shower handle. There's always gonna be a difficulty in getting parts as it depends on what you use in your home. Outside of that, the technician was knowledgeable and great. He did what he could do. A lot of times these technicians can only do so much. As a homeowner, it's frustrating. We the things fixed right now. But it’s not like they have a plethora of parts and equipment standing by and just waiting for your stuff to break for them to be able to come and fix it. The repair went outside the normal time frame it takes to get things done. But once they got the parts, everything was completed and done properly and professionally. It was clean too.

    My experience with American Home Shield has been a good one up until recently. This is for my washing machine and the issue I’m having right now is getting it scheduled and getting it taken care of. I'm still working this issue out. On the whole, I like the flexibility of American Home Shield's plans. They have a lot of options available for consumers. Some of these help. Some of these plans out here for home warranties don't offer as much. For instance, we have a pool and American Home Shield covers everything on the pool. A lot of companies don't cover things that refer to a pool. American Home Shield doesn't charge you an arm and a leg to have the policy or to add additional items that are not under a basic warranty. Each plan costs a little bit more. The gold plan is the one that we have and it covers pretty much everything like the normal stuff that would break in a home. That would be not so expensive to repair.

    American Home Shield's customer service also seems to be okay and they respond pretty fast. They get back to you in 24 hours. In 48 hours, they get back to you when trying to set something up. It's just a matter of the availability of the consumer itself. Sometimes that could be a challenge. Sales-wise, they're not too pushy. They don't go, "You need to get the next plan." Instead, they tell you what you need.

    My dryer stopped working. The knob head was off. So, we pushed it back on and then the timer came out of its slot, and then it caused some sparks because then the timer went against the metal. So, a tech had come out and looked at everything and then ordered parts, came back and he replaced the entire top panel. So, he replaced the whole top piece that has all the knobs on it, and it still didn't work when he got done. He just couldn't even believe it. He said, "Let's go check your breakers, make sure nothing had popped since it had sparked." I said, "Good idea." So, we checked the breakers, and everything was good. It didn't work. Then he said, "Let me check and see if there's a fuse in here." There was a fuse down on the backside. So, he came back the next day and replaced that fuse and then it was all good to go.

    We've had American Home Shield since we bought our house. So, almost eight years. The first year was and we've been pleased with it. I like that I can just call and then they're gonna send a repair person that they trust or they recommend to take care of the problem instead of me trying to call and find someone. They already have a list of people that they use. So, then you feel a little bit comfortable like, "Okay. Then hopefully, these people know what they're doing, not that I just called some random person that, you know, works on stuff and make sure that they're covered and they're insured and all that stuff."

    Having AHS is worth it because we're not gonna come totally out of pocket when we have problems with our appliances, our heat, or our air just to get it repaired. I've been happy with the contractors that they've sent. As far as the price, it's a little expensive just because my next year is going up. My new contract starts later this month and it went up a good chunk. I have not reached out and found out why it had gone up so much. I know the cost of everything is going up, but it had gone up last year for $15, and then this year is like $30. I've got the paperwork and I started going through it because there's so many pages of stuff that they cover or don't cover. So, I'm trying to figure out what changed.

    The online thing is great because I can just go in, put my claim in, and it's done. You don't call anybody. You just go on there, you can select what's wrong, what you got going, and then everything else is emails or texts. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, you can put a claim in. We've had a good experience overall. We've had to have appliances replaced and it's been covered through our warranty, and then the repairs have been done for us, and so far for us, it's been worth it.

    Every time I call American Home Shield, it seems like my claim is not covered or covered fully. I had my garage door repaired and the guy that came out said that there was a little sprocket that needed to be replaced. But it was gonna take two and a half weeks to get the part. So he suggested replacing the garage door opener which wouldn't be covered under the warranty because they could just replace the part.

    When our microwave worked intermittently, I called American Home Shield and the guy came out and it started to work at that point. He said that they wouldn't repair it. So we had to wait till it broke and then call them then. But it's $75 for a service fee for the guy to come out for two minutes and say that. It did stop working again and someone was supposed to come out again today to look at it. American Home Shield replaced my refrigerator 20 years ago and they covered that fully, which was great. But they've changed things because now, they have a cap on how much they cover.

    The ice maker in my Kenmore side by side refrigerator stopped working. I did a claim through American Home Shield's website. It was easy to maneuver, and they made it simple. When the contractor first contacted to let me know when they were showing up, I was not there but my wife and daughter were. The contractor was very pleasant and informative. They gave step-by-step information on what needed to be done with the refrigerator. They were going to change out the door. But then it was on the point of just getting a new refrigerator.

    American Home Shield gave me 100 different refrigerators to view and it was done all online. I could also add money to it and get an upgraded one, or just get what I had for a like for like. Or I could have asked for the money in a gift card and went shopping. I visually did it through Lowe's. But I decided to do it through the internet and just order it that way. American Home Shield has done nothing but good for me. I like the coverage, the ease of use, the responsiveness and the service period. I'm getting a brand new refrigerator, and it cost me $100 on the deductible.

    I called American Home Shield and told them that the AC unit wasn't working. It was pretty easy. I'm not comfortable doing online service request, so I always call in. When the contractor came out, they said it needed a new fan. They had it in their van. So they installed a new fan. But the AC stopped working last night. It just started blowing hot air. So it's not working now. I already called American Home Shield and the contractor has set up an appointment for tomorrow, 10:00 AM to 12:00.

    I like the service when American Home Shield actually fixes something and pays for it. But every time they come out here, there's an extra charge and it irritates me. When the downstairs AC unit went out last year, they put a new compressor in, but then they said I had to buy the Freon. I called and it's $60 a pound. At that point, I could have just gotten a new AC unit. Another thing was that I have a two-story house and I got an AC unit and then they charged me for the crane.

    We had a string of 100-degree days and I woke up one morning and it was hot in this house. We turned the AC off, turned it on, checked the breaker and did everything we could do but we're 70 years old so we can't be climbing up in the attic, too. So, I went online and told American Home Shield we need somebody to come out here. It was on a Friday that I put in my request and JKT, the contractor, was here the following Tuesday. We didn't know when they were gonna come out that day and I didn't wanna sit in the non-air-conditioned house all day and wait. So, I called and the rep said she would talk to the technician. She called me back within 30 minutes and told me the two-hour timeframe he would be there. He called when he was on his way so we could just leave the hotel and come over here and meet him. So, it was perfect. I was very impressed. I thought they'd be so booked up and I didn't know if he'd be able to even come out.

    The tech got me up and running within 15 minutes. The condensation line that drains all the water out from the humidity here had clogged somehow. It was probably from that windstorm that blew the insulation around in the ceiling. There was a safety that if it couldn't drain, it would turn it off so it wouldn't flood our house from the attic and the switch had flipped and turned it off. So, he turned it on, unclogged the line and we were good to go. They impressed my husband so much. He knew our neighbor needed a new air conditioning unit and he had to go over and talk to the neighbor, and now they're gonna install a whole new unit over at my neighbor's house. So, we highly recommend them.

    Our previous air conditioning company that comes out and services the unit every year told us that there wasn't anything else they could do for it. It was on its last leg and the next time anything went wrong, we'd have to have a whole new unit for $12,000. So, we were thinking that was gonna happen this time and this guy from JKT said there was nothing wrong with our unit and they would keep me going. So, we've switched. We're going with these people from now on. You never know who AHS is gonna contract with. So, it was luck of the draw. We were skeptical but now, we love AHS and are very happy with it.

    I let American Home Shield know I had a problem with my refrigerator and they arranged for GE to come out. GE determined the refrigerator wasn't any good anymore and I had a choice of either selecting online or buying my own. I had to shop for a refrigerator, which took a few days. I decided what I wanted and sent AHS the paperwork, and they said they had seven to so many days to process the check. But I sent the paperwork online and was approved within that day. So, it was just a matter of getting the check processed and mailing. AHS is gonna send me a reimbursement check.

    You can do a lot online with AHS. You put the information in and everything I automated. For the refrigerator, I told AHS the problem online and they contacted GE. And GE took it from there. I called them whether my paperwork had gotten approved or not and the person said it's already been approved. So, it didn't take very much turnaround and was not very complicated at all. I may not need anything for a while but I've had things like the refrigerator, garbage disposal and a furnace that had problems and AHS took care of those. One time I had to have local furnace people check on why my furnace wasn't kicking on. They replaced a part and charged me several hundred dollars. Lo and behold, that didn't fix it. So, they came out again and said it must be a certain part and they were gonna charge me several hundred more dollars. And I said no because it was during a cold spell a few years ago and I needed somebody to fix it right away. I said I would just wait.

    I contacted American Home Shield and they sent somebody out and they said the igniter was corroded. When it started happening again, the same people came out with no additional cost and determined that the other people who put in a new part hadn't adjusted to flame it properly. So, it was a one-time payment and I had two visits and it got fixed. I paid only 100 bucks. When I had to have a local person come and look at our furnace and if I had kept going down that path, it would have cost me close to probably $1,000. Something else wore out, which was an electronic motherboard or control panel and AHS replaced that. It was simple. You'll be paying a flat fee unless it's an expensive part. I wanted a better refrigerator than the one they wanted to replace. So, I had to pay extra. But that was my choice.

    Lately, our fridge stopped working and it's been 40 days and it's not fixed yet. In the middle of the summer with kids at home, we have no milk (we have to buy day by day), no food, no cold water, juice.. NOTHING!! They has the technician come check it out, order the parts, took more than 2 weeks for the parts to find out that it did not fix the issue. Now 11 days later and they are still looking for parts!! I asked to speak with a supervisor, 1 week and I get pushed around by supervisors that they are trying to get in touch with the technician and find a resolution!! The biggest load of horse crap!

    The air conditioner was not blowing cold and it took three weeks for the part to come in to fix it, which is not unusual. The contractor came out last Thursday and made the repair. The air conditioner worked on Friday and Saturday and stopped working again on Sunday. I called them back and they came out yesterday and looked at it. They said it looks like there’s an electrical issue in addition to the repair they made and they’re looking into what they could do to repair that. They owe me a call back with a timeframe for repair. I like the ease of submitting claims to American Home Shield and they line up contractors to do the work so I don't have to chase folks down and deal with it. I’ve experienced convenience and good coverage for the issues that we've had.

    Our dryer stopped working and American Home Shield’s process was probably the most intuitive I've ever had from any company. The person who came out was great, nice and knowledgeable. One person was matter-of-fact and completely 1-2-3. Other people were more engaging. The techs told me what was wrong and what they were fixing. I’ve had to have them come out twice because one thing broke and I don't know if that led to something else breaking later on. Our dryer was working fine three times and then, it stopped again. They came out again for more things. The service went smoothly and was easy. But people should review the coverage because it is too low for the monthly fee and the replacement amount that's covered per item is not high enough. They don't cover enough to actually buy an equivalent model.

    Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is easy. I do it online or call them. The technicians are good. If I have any issue, they resolve it. I like that when something breaks down, you call them and within 24 hours, they get back with you. I don't use them regularly, but when I used them, they immediately gave me the person that they assigned the contract to. Then the person got back to make an appointment within 24 hours. So, I haven't have any bad experience with them.

    We had an issue in the kitchen sink. The water was returning to the dishwasher, and it looked like it happened to be something with the garbage disposal. So it was changed last week, and so far, no water is going back to the dishwasher, so that is fixed. Everything was good with the plumbing. I did the claim online. It was funny because for the kitchen, I wanted to report the dishwasher and I didn't find dishwasher but I was under the impression that the issue was related with the garbage disposal, so I reported the garbage disposal. Other than that, it was okay. They contacted me to make an appointment and verify the information I submitted. Also, the tech did a great job. American Home Shield is a very convenient service to have, especially with everything that is so expensive, or if you don't have the time to fix it, I would recommend it. I have a great experience.     When we submitted a claim, AHS got someone out in a timely manner. However, the dishwasher didn't get fixed at first. So, AHS sent someone else out but it seems like it still isn't working properly. The tech was very nice. He fixed the stove. There was a problem with the freezer. He fixed that too. With the dishwasher, he said it was fixed, but it still didn't work properly.

    So, we put in a survey. I didn't give them a good score because it wasn't working. They got in touch with me and they came back. American Home Shield sent another person from that company. I wasn't home but my cousin was here and he told him what to do, how to set it, and we did it, and it seemed like it still wasn't cleaning the dishes. So, I was gonna call them back and see if they could send a different company.

    The garage door stopped working. I called AHS to submit a claim. They gave all the information for the garage door company and said what they'd be looking at. The tech had a high level of knowledge and was professional. However, he didn't fix it. He said his company doesn't work on those types. He said there might be another company, though, that specializes in that type of garage door.

    I got an email from AHS saying that another garage door company had been contacted. I just haven't been contacted by that new company yet. But I figured since it's a holiday they might have been closed. My heater also went out. The guy came out and figured out that I ran out of oil. And that was it. I had a roof leak too. The guy was busy, but he popped in, hopped on the roof, and fixed it. I haven't had a problem since.

    When I have a service request, I just call American Home Shield and they set it up. It's easy. They choose the contractor and the contractor calls me to schedule an appointment. American Home Shield has been prompt in sending out the necessary person to fix whatever needs to be fixed. However, there's always one little piece missing where somebody else has to come out. I had a draining issue and there's an issue where we don't know where the drain is releasing into the slab of the home and they still haven't gotten to the bottom of it. Plumbing as well as air conditioning people have come out, but the problem still isn't remedied. Also, there's so much American Home Shield doesn't cover. For example, I have mold in the house. They don't cover that, but the mold was a result of the air conditioning unit being faulty. Read the fine print.

Where the breakdown happens is when the contractor sends in their report and the approval process on American Home Shield, especially if there's some discrepancy in what the contractor recommended and what the home warranty is recommending. There was also one issue where one of the contractors did some work on my AC system and made the repair incorrectly. That resulted in leaking in my attic and my ceiling fell in, but AHS fixed everything. They made it right.

    We're in our second month with American Home Shield. When people start with them, they sign up, then they have a 30-day waiting period before their plan goes into effect. Some companies charge people right away, but they still can't use the policy for another month. American Home Shield doesn't charge people until their plan goes into effect, which is nice. The price might be a bit more than some companies, but it seems to cover more and the features that it has are worth the extra cost. The website is very easy to get to as well. Some places have a website, but people have to call them to get any kind of information and to submit the claim.

    If I'm gonna submit a claim for some work, it's very easy through American Home Shield's site, and they send someone out. Everything seems to be fine so far. We had them come work on our AC unit and didn't have any problems. A repair guy from Air Control Experts came and there was a part on our AC that was frozen up. He couldn't finish diagnosing it until it had been turned off and thawed, so he said, "Hey, we're gonna have to reschedule." We did that, and we made sure the AC was turned off. He came back, checked it out, added some Freon and made sure that everything was working fine, and it's been working fine ever since.

    I did a claim online for an electrical issue and another one for an ice maker. For the electrical issue, the circuit breaker started tripping all of a sudden and the tech just said to unplug some stuff. I tried to tell him that there have been no changes to what we had plugged in, but he said, "Maybe you just got lucky for the first few months." We didn't get any resolution from it, and that was a little disappointing.

    On the other hand, the ice maker claim with American Home Shield was a great experience. The ice maker wasn't working on my refrigerator, and the repair man came in and looked at it. He asked me what was been going on with it and if I checked it for ice getting lodged. I told him that we've been doing it for a while. It was sputtering on and on for months, then lately, it never came back on. Usually, we would just turn it off and give it a break. He said, "That sounds like it's a connection problem which is pretty common." He said he had another one and that should fix it. He swapped it out quick and the ice maker has been way better since.

    When I have a claim, I go online, log into my account, and submit what is wrong or what I need looked at or repaired, then American Home Shield makes contact with the repair group. They contact me with the time slot of what will work, and they come out and try and repair whatever is needed. Recently, my AC unit wasn't working very well. I called American Home Shield, and they said the warranty department won't cover it. It was nine plus years old and they'll cover any repairs if it was broken, but since the unit was working, it couldn't be fixed. It just wasn't working at its prime anymore and it was not keeping up with the Texas heat. However, I could keep my AC or pay for a brand new one, which is nicely discounted through their program, and get it updated.

    I chose to get sent me into that discount program, and they sent a technician out to see what was needed for the replacement. I talked to that technician, and he submitted a couple different quotes with options on it, then I selected which option I wanted. Everything was ordered, and they came out and replaced it. When my microwave quit working, I also told AHS and they sent a technician out. He looked at it and also said, “It can't be fixed. It needs to be replaced.” He submitted that paperwork to American Home Shield, then they gave me options to choose from. I chose a new microwave option, and the same company came out and replaced it. The new microwave was an upgraded model. They no longer made parts for the one I had, so they gave me a similar matching model that they make today.

    The claims process of AHS is online and it's easy. But the cost keeps going up for the service. Also, they should send the same vendor to the same house because if something is not working properly, the diagnosis would be much easier. So far, some of the techs who came out were good, while some were not so good. It's kind of the same bag of tricks that you get with every other one.

    We had problems with our heating unit last Christmas and we went for a period of two weeks where we didn't have heat in the house. And I live in Florida, which wouldn't seem bad, except that was the coldest Christmas in Florida. So, we ended up checking in to a hotel. And I know it was over the holiday and everyone deserves their holidays. But I also think they needed an emergency crew, which they did not have. Other than that, I live in a home where things break as in every other house and for the most part, having the techs from AHS come and service has been less expensive than doing it on my own.

    I needed a service for pipe backups. I filed a claim on the home page of AHS and it was easy. Then, I got the name, address and phone number of the contractor. The techs who came out provided a beautiful service. When they first came in, they had to snake the pipes and they found out that the pipes were not properly installed. So they had to re-pipe underneath the home, which American Home Shield did not cover, and the whole process took a couple of weeks. They came last week, but because of the hurricane, there was water underneath. So they had to wait for it to dry out and it just got resolved yesterday.

    Other than that, AHS replaced the refrigerator and an over the stove microwave for me. They give you the option of a gift card or just take the one that they suggest, and they take care of the install. So, I had the choice of getting my own microwave through Lowe's and I took that one. AHS also fixed my air conditioner. I've praised them since I started and I sent out emails to everybody telling them they were crazy not to get AHS.

    Our refrigerator wasn't cooling properly while the front panel of the washer wasn't functioning properly and some of the cycles weren't working. We submitted the claim for these two issues online and the AHS website was good. The submission was a pretty straightforward experience. Initially, American Home Shield assigned us a contractor but that contractor wasn't available for almost two weeks. So we had to request another contractor and that person was able to come in within two days after I filed the claim. The person looked at what was going on, then he ordered the parts and came back in a few days to replace the parts. He ended up replacing the fan of the refrigerator to help with cooling. For the washer, he replaced the panel to fix the problem.

    We were satisfied with the service but it would have been better if the contractor would have done a video call so that we could tell him what the issues were. That could have saved him a trip because the only thing he did on the first trip was look at the appliances and order the parts. So if there was an option for them to do remote diagnosis so that they can order the part ahead of time, that would have been better. Other than that, having the warranty has worked well for us. AHS does a good job finding a contractor that we can work with and it reduces the hassle of us finding the right sort of trusted contractor. I also like the ease of getting things done as well as the cost aspect of it. Although we're paying a monthly premium, we don't have to worry about bearing a huge cost in case of a service.

    The water and ice dispenser on our refrigerator stopped working and the tech came out and fixed that. Then, one of our bathrooms in the basement had a leak from the back reservoir area. The guy came in, fixed it very promptly, headed out, and cleaned up afterwards. Both techs were great. I submitted these claims with AHS online and their website was fairly easy to navigate.     American Home Shield prevents us from having to make unexpected out-of-pocket repairs. They have a network of professionals in place that we don't have to go hunting and pick somebody we don't know anything about. They have gotten somewhat better as the years go by. But sometimes, we have a hard time when we have to call and speak to someone in person because they usually use people from foreign places. They can't understand us, and we can't understand them. But the last few times we've had problems, they've been quick to respond. They found somebody in our area who could do the repair on a timely basis, and the repairs were done well. Recently, the garbage disposal died, and somebody came out and looked at it from Green Day. They determined that it needed a new disposal. They got one, came back and replaced it. The premiums are a little high though, and if I have to call somebody, it's automatically $100.

    When something goes wrong, I can call American Home Shield and they can send somebody out to get the issue fixed instead of me or my tenant trying to call somebody. Shields Plumbing came out recently for a dishwasher that needed to be installed. They were outstanding. American Home Shield could stop raising their prices so often though.

    With American Home Shield, you have someone to call. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg when you are not ready. You pay your deductible, and you are good to go. But I had an issue with the last contractor. They could not fix the unit until the third time they came out. Every time they went, I had to call American Home Shield to call them back before they would come back again. American Home Shield should make sure the customer is satisfied, and that they agreed to what the contractor was out to do before they could leave. Sometimes they say they're done and leave but the issue is still the same.

    If you need coverage on your house, go with American Home Shield. You'll be covered for good. They replaced the condenser and coil in my AC unit. I currently have multiple claims out. My dishwasher was not draining. A contractor came out and fixed it. My ice maker also wasn't working, and I'm getting a brand-new fridge from American Home Shield. They emailed me over a gift card today from Lowe's in the amount of what my fridge is valued at and I'm going to pick out the fridge today.

    There are a couple of items that I don't want on my American Home Shield policy, but I wasn't told that I'd have to wait till the end of the year to cancel them, which I'm cheesed about. Also, getting somebody to come out here and address the problem usually takes so long. I had my refrigerator poop out on me and had to wait almost a week. That's a very long time to have a refrigerator that's limping along in summer. The last repairman was half an hour late, but he did it that day. I waited 24 hours then I still was having trouble with the refrigerator. I called the service directly and was told I was gonna hear from somebody right away. But it's Tuesday and I haven't heard anything. Luckily, the refrigerator is working correctly in the meantime.

    On another claim, I was getting a nasty stink in the house. I had somebody come out and it was a young kid. I had him go under the house and look for something that might be a dead animal or something leaking. He went under the house and did everything to find out where the ghastly smell was coming from. Finally, I had to call another service. The guy who came out asked if I ever use the bathroom in the front hall. I have two bathrooms and I never use the bathtub except when I have guests. I didn't know that if you don't use a bathroom, you have to once in a while run some water through the bathtub pipes because if you don't, that water sitting there will dry up and it will get funky. The kid should have known that. He didn't think to ask how often I use that bathtub. I had to pay $125 and not get anywhere. I had to pay another company.

    Last year, we had a dryer issue. AHS sent a company to try to fix it. The issue ended up being the lint trap that goes up through the attic. That was not part of the dryer claim so the techs could not do the job. But submitting a claim has been very quick and nice on the computer. The last one I did, I just went on the website, found the category that I needed, put in what exactly it was that was wrong, and they were able to get me a company to come out within a couple of days. One of our outlets and a bunch of our lights weren't working. The techs were able to find the switch that was crossed. They fixed that so all the lights worked again.

    I had an issue with some electrical problems in the house. One was a ceiling fan with a light. The electrician fixed that. The other one was an overhead light in the kitchen. The electrician recommended that the light fixture needed to be replaced. He said, "I'll write it up and turn it in." After five days, I hadn't heard anything. We are living in the dark at night in the kitchen. I called this morning and the rep said the light fixture was not covered. Now, I have to pay for another electrician to come out and buy the thing. Another issue I'd had was there were limitations on what American Home Shield pays for. I had a plumbing problem. They said, "We only pay up to this amount. If it goes over this amount, that's out of your pocket."

    I've been pleased with the contractors they American Home Shield has sent out. But I've dealt with a couple of people on their customer service side that I wasn't happy with. They seemed short. I'm also not happy with American Home Shield. I'll be cancelling and going somewhere else. When I told them I'm gonna be cancelling when the contract is up, the rep said they were gonna reimburse me half of the deductible that I paid. That was a plus on their part for that.

    If it's just a basic fix, American Home Shield is good to have. You pay one price for their contractor to come visit and 95% of the time, that's all you pay. But if it's not a simple fix and something needs to be replaced, then you have an issue. American Home Shield says they will replace it but that's a lie. They don't replace anything. We recently had that happen with our water heater. We also had an air conditioner issue. That was the second time their contractor had to come and fix it. Both times, it took them three days. The customer service is overseas. There is a language barrier. Sometimes it's hard to understand what they're saying and sometimes they don't understand what I'm asking. They just repeat what they're told to say.

    American Home Shield just raised their prices, but it's still not bad. It was $75 each time. Now, it's $100. We pay a monthly fee as well which went up too. When we first started, we were only paying $60 a month. Now it's $99 a month. They do it when the contract is renewed. I do automatic payment with them. Each year, they say, "If you don't wanna renew contract, please let us know." They also tell you, "This is what it was. This is what you're paying. There is an increase." It's been going up a little every year. But it's still a good deal. It's still cheaper than constantly having to call somebody to come.

    We don't care for American Home Shield anymore. I plan on switching. When I called one of the times, I got hung up on. When it comes to certain things, American Home Shield is not very good. They take forever to fulfill what they need to fulfill. A part was ordered for my AC unit but it took forever for American Home Shield to order the part and get it out to the right address. The AC unit wasn't fixed for two months which caused my other AC unit to overwork. I had to have them come out recently to fix that. I told American Home Shield not to send me the first company anymore because they had to come out five different times and didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. The second company ended up cleaning out both of the AC units which the other company didn't do. They checked everything and put a couple of new parts in.

    American Home Shield did not approve my washer to get fixed. I had to purchase a new one. But it is one of the covered items in my plan. The play button wasn't working. A repairman came over and took it out. The back panel had failed. He said that it needed to be replaced but American Home Shield did not cover it. They said it was not normal wear and tear. It's the button and things are gonna happen if you're pushing a button for the past whatever years. They said that there was detergent in it, but there wasn't.

    One thing I like about American Home Shield is that you can put in your request online and it goes much faster. They have a higher quality of service in regards to getting somebody out. Most of the time, they will cover the claim and have somebody out on a good timeframe. I just had three different items worked on at my house.

    I had a contractor come out for a toilet issue. I was told there was a hairline crack. American Home Shield sent one technician out. He left the toilet in a much worse condition than it was when he arrived. American Home Shield denied the claim because he said it wasn't normal wear and tear. They would not change their review which made no sense to me. I don't know how you can do anything else to a toilet except sit on it. I was without toilet and water for almost two weeks which was unacceptable.

    Even though my last experience wasn't good, I would still recommend American Home Shield. I have compared them to several other companies and they are still better than all the other companies out there. If you're not home or you don't live close to your vacation home, you can always have someone to go out and it's gonna cost you $100 for your deductible. Majority of the time, that's all you're going to pay for your repair. You're not worrying about your refrigerator or major appliances if something goes wrong. We have a pool and pool equipment could be extremely expensive. Our heater went out and they took care of it.

    It's been quick and easy with American Home Shield. They've responded to everything that I have requested service on. I go online, submit a claim and get feedback right away. The most recent claim was for my oven that wasn't heating properly. American Home Shield sent an appliance company out. They had to order parts, but it took an extremely long time. They said it would be 7 to 10 days. After 10 days, I called ‘cause I hadn't heard anything from them. The next day, they called, came out and repaired it.

    There was one issue that aggravated me. Back in June, our air conditioner went out. We live in Alabama and it was hot. American Home Shield assigned us a company that I had never heard of. They contacted me and it was gonna be over a week before they could get out here. We're older people and we couldn't make it in that heat. I called American Home Shield and talked to a nice, young man in customer service. He reassigned us to another contractor and that contractor was out the next day. Within 15 minutes, they had the issue fixed. I was impressed with the customer service agent that helped me that day.

    I’ve been with American Home Shield since the early 2000s with my property in Georgia, and I've never had any issues up until recently with the contractor that they originally sent out to my house. I submitted a repair claim for the refrigerator. I was confused with the diagnosis of the issue that they gave me. They said the refrigerator need to be defrosted. It's a frost refrigerator. So, I wanted to speak with the technician. He did not wanna speak with me. I had to speak with a manager. During a heated conversation, I requested a new contractor be sent out to the property because I did not want that same contractor to come out. They were gonna send the same one, just a different guy.

    So, CalTek came out, and I was able to speak with the technician. He explained to me what was going on. I'm satisfied with that. CalTek is a good contractor. I've never had any issues with AHS over the years, but it was just hard to get resolution. And when I would call, I get the same technician and they tell me the same thing. Then when you request to speak with a manager, you can't get one. Also recently, they had contacted me saying that my contract was no longer available, so they switched me. So, I was a little concerned with that.

    AHS has been very friendly and cooperative. Also, 10 or 15 years ago, it used to take them a day or two to get back with me. Now when I call, I get a response and I get an agent. They set me up a date that somebody's gonna come out and look at whatever is the issue and we move forward. Most recently, we had a tech come out and he was very polite. He looked at the unit and we checked the circuit breaker because I had cut the circuit breaker off the night before because I don't know if it had ice condensation on it. He took the machine out there and tested the Freon and made sure we had everything. The unit has been running fine since then. I've never had a bad experience with anyone coming out and doing any service.

    American Home Shield doesn't cover everything. I only used them once. And I needed them to come out and replace some breakers and a kitchen light. They fixed the light. But they didn't cover the breakers because they were bigger than the ones that should have went on there, and I had to come out of pocket $170. And it made me feel like if I have to deal with this kind of stuff, what do I need them for? I almost thought about cancelling them, but I decided not to. There may be bigger problems. Because when they came out to do the kitchen light, it worked. And as soon as the tech left it, it started acting up again. We found out it was the switch. But when I called them to tell them about that, I asked them, "Is it gonna be covered?" Because I couldn't afford to come out of pocket anymore. I paid $170 just for them to change some breakers, and that's ridiculous. I have my doubts about them. But I'll give them another chance.

    The compressor was bad in my air conditioner unit and there was a leak from the coils in the basement. It was recommended that they replace the actual condenser, but they just got the parts for the condenser. Plus, it took such a long time. It was in the heart of the heat wave that we had. It was 100 degrees for about three days. But we were without air conditioner from August 2nd until today. The technician was great but I'll have to make a return call to them because the leak is still there.

    When my refrigerator went out a year ago, the Sears guy who came by got my order mixed up. He said he was gonna charge me. So I went away from American Home Shield and went directly through the vendor to get my refrigerator fixed. There was another job that was done for me, and I never followed through. The technician took so long to come that I ended up cancelling that job. But American Home Shield didn't refund my $100. Overall, their customer service is pretty good when I call in. But I had to drop my coverage because they raised the price so much.

    I gave my son an American Home Shield policy as a gift. I was thinking it was gonna be a year or two. But it ended up being five years. I didn't notice that they were deducted from my checking account all this time. My son thought he cancelled it. But they wouldn't let him cancel it. I had to call in and cancel. But then I can't cancel because it's not in my name, because I gave it to my son and put it in his name. So that was where it fell through the cracks.

    My son had repairs done where the American Home Shield would have covered it. But he didn't think he still had it because he said he cancelled it. So I ended up paying an additional $3,000 and I asked for the money back. The same thing happened with my brother. I also gifted him with American Home Shield. I also had to go through extra hoops to get the service discontinued because it was not in my name. The person who pays for the monthly bill should also be able to cancel it when it's done. Otherwise, it could go on and on.

    My particular situation will entail them having to take down the tile in the bathroom in order to get to the shower bath that needs to be repaired. So they let us know that. Then I got a call where they said that if we wanted to, they would provide someone else to come out for a second opinion. So we're trying to decide about that. But other than that, they were very thorough in checking and they tried everything they could to fix it.

    American Home Shield has been very good and efficient in trying to take care of our concerns and needs. I haven't had anything that I can recall that we were dissatisfied with. When I first started with them years ago, I got coverage for my home in Tyler but it got to the point where they said they couldn't service me anymore. So I ended up having to go to another company.

    I put in a service request for AC and heating and then American Home Shield assigned Quantum Mechanical to me. They came out very promptly. Within two days, they were out. The technician was out taking care of examining and going through troubleshooting as far as my equipment. That was when he informed me that my evaporator coil ruptured and that they could hear a big leak coming from it. So that was why my AC was down. They submitted a claim to American Home Shield. American Home Shield approved some of the work, but not all of the work. So there was something out of my pocket. But I agreed to it. It is what it is. It was over 100 degrees here in Texas, and I have kids. They came out again and installed the new evaporated coil. They did everything they said, what was needed, and the initial followthrough.

    When the technician ran a vacuum to make sure the system was holding and that there were no leaks, he told me, "Hey, it's not holding pressure. There might be a leak somewhere. Maybe it might be on my end, on my soldering." He checked it and thought it was there. So he cut it and re-soldered it. He did it two times. At that point, they did another high pressure on it and he stated that there was another leak that he found in my main copper line. But it's leaking inside the wall. They told me that the main copper line needs to be replaced. So they were gonna submit another request for American Home Shield to cover the main line running from the unit to the condenser. Right now, I'm two weeks out with no AC. I called American Home Shield yesterday and they said they haven't heard anything from Quantum about a secondary request.

    As far as American Home Shield goes, I love them and the service. I have never had an issue with them. I had several claims in the past and they've always been very prompt. They got me taken care of right away. The day before my AC went out, my daughter's ceiling fan went out. So I went online to my account and made a request regarding the ceiling fan. Within three days, an electrician was out there and he said that the ceiling fan was burnt out. He said they would submit the claim to American Home Shield, wait for the response, and would be back promptly. Then the following week, he came back out and installed my daughter's new ceiling fan.

    I've had several things fixed or replaced over the years. I was very unhappy that my sinks weren't under warranty, which they would have been. Because I had water burst out one of the handles on my sink, and American Home Shield said that wasn't covered. I've been with them for 28 years and I could never get somebody on the phone. This time, I did right away who got the people and came out right away and fixed the problem. My air went out, and it's Phoenix. It's hot here. They put a new motor on it.

    American Home Shield is very expensive but I'm in a position where I have to have insurance. If I saved $100 a month, then I could have paid for the repair myself. But you don't always know that. Especially air conditioning. I had a claim for my air conditioner and I was very pleased with that. I'm 89 years old and I've gone quite a while without an air conditioner. I called the company that American Home Shield suggested and the tech said, "I'll be out there in an hour." And he was. I got very good service with that.

    It's a very unusual thing for your washing machine and your air conditioner to go out. But that happened to me. The claim for my washing machine has taken me quite a while to get things done. On the whole, American Home Shield is all right. Years ago, I had bad luck with them. I was about ready to quit, but I continued them. This time, they paid off. It got better.

    My experience with AHS has been pretty good until recently. We had an air conditioning issue. Every time we tried to turn it on, it would trip the breaker. Once I realized that the breaker wouldn't stay on, I filed a claim and had them send somebody out to check it. In the process of checking everything, the contractor took a part of the air conditioner that's outside. The tech said that when he opened it up, there was a dead mouse and the mouse had chewed into the wire that goes into whatever this part is and electrocuted it some. He replaced that part but he still couldn't get the air conditioner to work. He did another part and still couldn't get it to work. The parts worked, but the air conditioner itself was still not working.

    He said the mouse shorted out whatever it was but the compressor itself appears to may possibly be bad. He did one more thing and said the compressor needed to be replaced. He told me that from his experience, my warranty would only pay for so much of it and I'd have to pay for part of it, which was understandable. AHS sent me a message saying they were reviewing it.

    A few days went by and I tried to get ahold of them to actually speak to somebody. But when I try to contact them or if I have an issue, the only people I can get are foreigners. A lot of times, if you're trying to convey specific things to them, they don't get it. It's kind of pointless. When I first started dealing with AHS, they still had people in the United States and if I had an issue, I could actually speak to somebody. But now, it's impossible.

    Then, I got a customer service rep who said they're not paying for the claim and they don't cover it. He said the problem exists because of an animal getting into our thing and they don't cover animals. I'm a little perturbed with that because I pay $90 a month every month and have been for years. This is probably one of the most expensive things that could happen as far as I know. I've only used AHS for anything that's had to do with my AC or heating units and now, we actually need the coverage and they're telling me they're not gonna cover it. They seem to think that this is completely due to this mouse and I feel like that's just an excuse. They're just trying to come up with a reason not to pay it. I can't get ahold of anybody so I can't plead my case to anybody who's actually gonna be more than just somebody who answers the phone.

    My wife and I are contemplating if we're continuing with them. In the process of looking things up, I discovered that there are a lot of people who are having problems with that. They're canceling and they're still being charged and having to stop credit cards and stop payments. That's where I'm at with them, which is really disappointing because we've been a firm believer in it because of my parents.

    Overall, my experience submitting a claim to American Home Shield is really good. I just had two claims last week and it was painless. One was a plumbing repair and the other was for a pool pump repair. My pool guy that does the regular maintenance said that the housing of the pump was cracked. He told me what it was gonna cost to fix it, and then I remembered that I had my pool on my Home Shield. So, I went online and filed a claim. The contractor called the next day, scheduled the service, and then came out within 24 hours and they fixed it. Both the technician and the plumber were amazing.

    I've had trouble in the past, not with professionalism, but more with not being able to call American Home Shield. If you call them, you're gonna be on hold for three hours. I don't wanna call their customer service. It's usually somebody that doesn't speak English and you're on hold for 45 minutes trying to get through. But with the way that you have to do it, you go online, sign into your account, and you pay before you get a choice. There's no box to give an explanation. It's all just, "Check these boxes." So, if you have an electrical problem, you can't really identify what it is. You just have to click a box, and then you pay, and then they call you. But overall, it's great. I'll recommend it to anyone I talk to.

    It's pretty easy to submit a claim. You can do it verbally or within the app. Sometimes, when you do it verbally, they send you a link so that you can do a recording if it's making a noise. So it depends on the appliance. The people that come out for the companies that American Home Shield has have always been great, so I've never had any issues with any of them. They usually try to get out in a timely fashion. However, it's Arizona, and when the air conditioning goes out, it can take a bit if they don't have the parts.

    When the air conditioning for the basement was out, it turned out that the compressor completely died. So the contractor ordered a new one. When they submitted it to American Shield, it was a little bit slower than I would have liked. But it is what it is. It took about two days for American Home Shield to approve a part, so that was bothersome to me, especially when it was hotter than hell and the air conditioning was out.

    The following week, my upstairs air conditioning unit had problems, so I had to go to American Home Shield and they added it to the deal. When they came out to fix it after they got the compressor, my husband was talking with the guy and the guy said if I didn't have the warranty, we would have been probably paying around 3,200 for that visit. So it was a big positive. If I had to pay $800 a year for American Home Shield and I just covered 3,200 on one visit, then we're golden. The per month and the fee still are less than what one specific thing would have cost.

    I've been happy with American Home Shield but they need to be a little bit more transparent. They need to be more clear on what they will cover it replaces. They have a list, but they're not completely 100% clear. When you ask the people on the phone the specific question, they just say, “Refer to your contract.” But the contract doesn't say word for word what people want to hear.

But I had a concern because the appointment was supposed to be between 9:00 and 1:00, and I had to leave at 1:45 to pick up my granddaughter. I wanted to make sure that he didn't come at 1:00, and then he would be here later than 1:45. So I called the day of the appointment, and they got me in quicker. That was nice of them. He fixed the issue. I had a water heater replaced some years ago, and it cost me more than I thought it should. I thought it was all covered but it wasn't.     I've seen American Home Shield's website change over the years and currently, it's okay the way it is. It's working a lot better than in the past. I had a plumbing problem and after I submitted the service request online, I received a text and an email letting me know which vendor would be answering, to expect within 24 hours, and to schedule and hear from that vendor. The vendor was very professional and efficient. They diagnosed what the problem was and resolved the problem in a timely manner.

    Since we've been a client of Home Shield in '94, there were some vendors that were very suspect, and they did not resolve the problems that we had. With Home Shield's policy that they had in place, we didn't get our issue resolved. For instance, many years ago, the plumber that they brought in cut into the wall and replaced some lines. We also had to install a water pressure thing in the yard. So that was an additional $400 that we had to do. After it was all said and done, we still had the problem of the drip out of the faucet and sink. So it never got resolved. Home Shield wouldn't call in another plumbing company. It has to be the same company to resolve it.

    We've had lots of claims over the many years with Home Shield and some of the vendors were really professional. They knew their stuff, and as they talked and resolved our issue, it all worked out. The issue gets resolved. But then I've had others that were on the other end of that spectrum. I noticed it was always these companies that we never heard of before. For whatever reason, they try to oversell us on there. They're aware of what's not covered by Home Shield. So they would then make money on that part and we had those types of experiences numerous times. But overall, I would definitely recommend American Home Shield because it's definitely a good option to not having any home warranty insurance. There are more positives than negatives that I found in working with a home warranty system.

    We pay for a service, and American Home Shield delivers it. I like the safety in knowing that if something happens, you can call someone and they can be there. We always started out with the top tier coverage. But I don't like that our monthly fees go up, but the coverage has gone down. When we had an electrical issue with one of our sockets, the tech came in but did not test the socket. He just told us he would have to tear out our wall to trace down the wire, and it wouldn't be covered. The only thing that would be covered would be the electrical.

    When we had an issue with our gas cooktop, it took about two and a half months to resolve, and we had to cook on hot plates. Two months without a cooktop was tough. When we got the hot water tank replaced, it's in the attic and they made us take out the stairs, so we had to get someone to take the stairs out and then put it back in. We had to pay extra for all of that. When the breaker tripped, the person that came out checked everything before he left and we appreciate that, even though it was just a breaker and he flipped it and it came on.

    When I called in the claim for the air conditioner, American Home Shield said that somebody would contact me to schedule the service. We set up the schedule and then the service technician called prior to arrival at my request. They originally gave me a time frame of between 1:00 and 5:00. The technician called to see if we could come earlier and we made that arrangement. He said, “Five minutes.” I told him to give me 15 minutes. Then he showed up. He looked at the thermostat. He went around back to reset the breaker and the system started again. He went to his truck, got a capacitor, shut the system down, and put in the new capacitor. Then he restarted the system and checked the temperatures inside the house. I was very satisfied with the service. For someone who could not afford to pay for some of these repairs, American Home Shield or a home warranty company is the way to go.

    I've had them for years and they've gone up in price. Also, it's $100 for someone to come out here and they used to wait until the tech fixed the issue before taking the $100 out.     My furnace was not working. I called American Home Shield. They booked an appointment for somebody to come and have a look at it. I was given the name of the company and that they would contact me. They got in touch, and the guy came. But he came even before the scheduled time that he said he would arrive. He said it was the capacitor. So, he changed it. The air condition is functioning, but the furnace is yet to be replaced. The contractor hasn't done that because it's a process. AHS has to order it before they can do that. But if I didn't have the insurance, I would have to pay maybe 6,000 or over. It's good when I need it most. When I'm paying for it, I don't like it, but when problems come, I see the importance of it. And they've been prompt with their response and with their process. So, we are still on it to get it fixed, which is good. When there is a problem, they will get it fixed for me.

    The only negative feedback is there were times when I called and wanted to talk to someone and it was long holds. This last incident, American Home Shield said it was a 10-minute hold, which wasn't bad. But there were times when it was four and six-hour wait times and there was no option to leave my number and have them call me back. That has been a couple of years, but that was poor customer service. If I needed to talk to a live person, it was almost impossible. But if something breaks, it's convenient to have somebody that can find a repairman come instead of me trying to find someone to do it. I had a problem with a valve in my shower and the contractor repaired it. The contractor notified me they were on the way, they got here, diagnosed it and had to get AHS' okay to do the repair. I referred AHS to several family members that now use them.

    My dryer was acting up. I called AHS and told them that my dryer wasn't working. They sent out a technician to look at it and they said that they would see if they could get the parts. But they found out the machine no longer had the parts available and they were not able to repair it so they got me a new one. They gave me a bunch of choices to choose from and there was one there that I was going to choose and had sort of said I would. But they also said that they would give me so much money for me to buy one so, I was able to find one locally. I got it and it was delivered and put in.

    Recently, I had an air conditioner issue at my rental. It was not cooling at all so they came out and looked at it. They had to get some parts and it took a week and a half. It was real hot. but they came in as soon as they could and put it in. I also had an air conditioner claim just recently at my place. My air conditioner went out and they found that the air conditioner unit outside was clogged up with leaves and stuff. It needed to be cleaned out and the switch needed to be fixed up. The contractors have been great and I've been very satisfied with what AHS has done. The only thing is sometimes I have to be on the phone a long time trying to get through to them. Other than that, it saves me money and I don't have to go around looking for someone to fix things.

    I've had other home warranty companies and I will only use American Home Shield. I refer them to everybody. As soon as I submitted the request, they followed up immediately. If I didn't have an appointment within 48 hours, they were on the phone with me. They only send top quality, 5-star companies out to our house. They don't waste our time. They get a qualified person for the piece of equipment that we requested help on the first time, not four times later. I've had a few things that were not covered. But they took the time to show me where it fell under the not covered items. They didn't make me feel like they were hustling me or leaving me high and dry. I appreciate that, because I get they couldn't cover everything.

    I've loved my washer's size. It washes wonderfully. All of a sudden, the lid started catching on the top part of it. I didn't think anything of it. I thought we had pushed it in. So, I looked at the hinges. When I lift the lid, I can see the hinges. It's all a clear plastic on the top. And the hinge popped out on the left hand side. It started cracking. The hinge is thick and metal. I tried to push it in so it wouldn't put pressure on the plastic lid. It worked good for a few months, until it just cracked the rest of the way out.

    I would use AJ Appliance if I didn't have American Home Shield. They introduced themselves, communicated so I didn't have to miss four hours of work. Gave me heads up so I knew when they would be there. They were excellent, in and out, super quick. I videoed the issue and submitted it so it saved them a trip coming out. I took pictures of the part number, showed the rep what it was doing, and how I would have to hold the lid until the lid locked for the washing machine to work. Because everything in the washing machine works. He said that that is a very common problem with that unit and model number. He said, "I have no idea why they built it that way, because it's very common." It was super easy. They were fabulous.

    I like being able to call in repairs and have professionals come out and do them. Their technicians have all been professional and able to get the work done quickly. For the warranty, AHS is good, but I don't like some of the contractors. For my air conditioner, I prefer to find someone to get it done because they do it at a better price than the current air conditioning people for American Home Shield. AHS's contractors are charging almost double what it should cost for Freon. I'm being forced to go with them. I'm paying more money than I would if I didn't have the service. So, the last time I had a problem, I called and got approval to have someone else do the work. I was satisfied.

    Online is usually what I do when I submit a claim with AHS and it's pretty quick and easy. I've done one where I had to send through the chat online as well and it was very quick as well. So far, it's seamless and very easy to get ahold of them. Submitting a claim is not hard at all. I did one not too long ago for an AC unit, and the company called me within a couple of days. It was a continuous cooling issue. Finally, with the most recent one, they did a leak detection, and there was a leak. They're trying to get that fixed at the moment. They put more refrigerant on there and that could last for maybe three weeks.

    I recently had a claim and Appliance Care came out. The refrigerator was warm. The service was quick and easy. AHS is good. But once in a while, you get a company that isn't the best qualified for the job. They're not the top company. But the plumbers that come are the best. This air conditioner guy was also very good. But there should be a place where you can really contact them online or email them online. You really can't. It's a little bit of a pain in the neck that way.

    My experience with AHS is going great. Recently, I had a claim for my dishwasher and the sink was clogged. I filled out the report online, and then they sent somebody over within a week. Their website was good. But the dishwasher is not fully fixed right now. The tech still has to bring more pieces. But they sent out a plumber for the sink and the plumber fixed it fast. The garbage disposal was fixed too.

    Sometimes the service of AHS is good, sometimes it's bad. Sometimes there are issues. But I'm still with them because I think that it works. We had one claim for my valve and my faucets and sink, they said that it was wear and tear. It wasn't something that was broken. So I paid for that. Then the washing machine had a simple problem. The drain hose wasn't properly aligned. I also had a claim for the dishwasher. Everything works great now.

    I've used AHS before and I've always been happy with them. Recently, my washer was making a loud clunking noise. I submitted a claim online. I was emailed the name and phone number of the vendor, and then they called me and told me they were coming. I went out to meet the tech, and then he came in and started working and got everything taken care of. He was very efficient. He was able to determine in a matter of 20 minutes that it was dead.     The tech from Advanced Home Services that came out for my recent claim was professional. He knew what he was doing. Because he came to the unit, looked at it and took off this panel. Went back to his truck, came back and was able to go ahead and fix whatever it was. Everything is working really well now. He told me to make sure I pay attention to the unit. Because sometimes, the compressor and something else usually end up following it. I'm just hoping and praying that it won't, that everything was fine, that it was just this glitch. He also said that it was with the weather when the weather was warm, cold, warm, cold. He said that usually happens when it's like that. I like American Home Shield. But I don't like the prices. The prices had all gone up. I'm paying every month. And when someone comes out, now I'm paying another fee and the fee is steep.

    C&C Appliance Repair came out to do some work on my range and microwave recently. Everything was fine. It was professional. They came out to do the initial diagnostic. Then they had to follow up. They said that they were gonna contact me once the part got here. This is the first time that something has been a little bit easy. In times past, I've had issues with AHS as far as getting a claim through or getting the proper assistance. But it's one of those situations where you don't know how valuable it is until you need it. It's like, it's a hassle and an expense. I think sometimes, the company uses that as leverage or an advantage that says, "When you need us, you need us." So you just gotta deal with some of the inconveniences. Also, I know that they are trained to give certain responses. But there were a lot of times, it was not in the best interest of the cover.

    I have three properties in two different states and I'm not always there to be able to get the repairs done.     It's pretty simple to go on the telephone or the internet and get something from AHS. But, I have a call in right now and I've had no response. I contacted them last week before the holiday and told them that my washing machine was out of service. Generally, it's rather quick for them to get back to me, but I'm a little surprised I haven't heard from them.

    I don't have any problems with anybody that's come out. They've been responsive. We have two washers and dryers, so I've had the other one looked at, and now, this one.     AHS is good for what it is. But they're starting to be a little more expensive than I would like. Then sometimes the service is great but sometimes it's not. Circa Service came out recently and it was a good call. But it was a recall. The first person that came to my house misdiagnosed it and they wanted to go into my concrete, but they didn't do their research. I actually diagnosed it and then Circa confirmed that. But overall, AHS is good. Their service is fine, but the people that they contacted to look at my leak, not so much. So it's more of a vendor issue.

    I've had American Home Shield since 2012 and now, getting someone out to take a look at what's wrong seems to be taking longer than it used to. It used to be that they would get somebody out here within a day or two, especially if it was something that was an urgent thing like an air conditioner or a heater out in the cold in the winter, or something really important like a refrigerator going out or a freezer.

    They used to have people that would come out right away. Now, it seems like it takes a lot longer for someone to come out, and sometimes, it takes up to a week, which really sucks when your air conditioner is broken. Then, it used to be that the people who would do the service request would say, "Okay, this is how much it would cost to be fixed." Home Shield would say, "Well, we'll give you this much to do it," and then vendor would be like, "Okay, I'll take that." Now, instead of letting the vendor provide their own parts, American Home Shield has to order the parts and have them shipped to the vendor and it's on their timeline.

    I had an air conditioner that took almost two months to get fixed and this was when it was in the 90 to 100 degrees in the south. So, it was really bad. At one point, they shipped parts out and they came out to fix it and they had sent the wrong parts. At that point, they don't overnight the parts. The part that is really frustrating for me is if I was just paying a repair company to do it, it would be done within just a few days. Also, their prices are going up and their service is going down.

I'm probably gonna have to call the person who adjusted the air conditioner. I'm not sure if it's gonna cut off at 75. It did hit 75, but it never went off. I cut the air off because I had to leave. I don't like leaving with the air because it's so expensive. So, I'm gonna call because there's a guarantee of 30 days for the workmanship.

    When something crucial like plumbing, HVAC, or electrical goes out in a house, it's gonna be expensive.     I bought a condo, and my daughter suggested that I connect with American Home Shield for a home warranty, because I bought a lot of new appliances. Recently, we had problems with the smoke detectors, and I had my friend come and take them down. I thought, “Okay. I could just go and replace them.” My son and daughter are with AHS, and they told me I needed to call in about the smoke detectors. I'm older, so they came over and told me what it was that I needed to do. I called in to American Home Shield to have them send someone out to do this for me, and they are the ones who suggested the other company. The other company came out and looked at the smoke detectors.

    The other company called in to tell American Home Shield what the problem was and got permission to have the smoke detectors replaced. They would call or send a text message just before getting here, so I could always report back to my daughter. They were always calling me to let me know what it was that they were doing, or sending me text messages, and I appreciated that. They sent out the same technician who had come out before and said that the ones I had could not be replaced because they were too old, and that same technician was the one who came out to put up the new ones. He was always on time.

    One time we had something leaking underneath the sink and I had no idea what it was because we have our dishwasher, garbage disposal, hot water and cold water. But I knew it was plumbing, so I started clicking dishwasher, garbage disposal, water pipes, faucet leaking, and sink on the AHS website. They let you click five different options just to get an idea for the service person that comes out so they know to send a plumber or an electrician. Then, within 24 hours of submitting the service request on the computer, the techs call you and schedule something. The longest we had to wait was over a holiday weekend which was three days. It wasn't an emergency though and we could have waited.

    For this claim on the leak that we had, within an hour of submitting our request, somebody called and they scheduled somebody to come out between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM the next day. But around 2 o'clock, we got a call saying that the technician had a bigger problem than he anticipated in the morning, though he would still come that day. And he did. He came around 6:30. The communication was great. They always let me know, the tech texted me when he was on his way, and I could track where he was located.

    He was young but he didn't make me feel stupid. He walked me through a couple of things and told me that my warranty won't cover repairs until certain things happen. So if I wanted fix things on my own, he told me how much it would cost or that I could wait until the thing breaks and it would be covered, which would only cost me so much. I was very appreciative of that. We also had something going on upstairs in the bathroom sink and he tool care of that as well. It took him a little longer than 45 minutes to finish up since he had to run to Home Depot and get a part then come back.

    Any time we've needed something and we've called American Home Shield, they've come through. Sometimes we got ahold of someone that didn't act like they understood, and we couldn't understand them. They were trying to do their job and I'm sure they did it good. It's just we had the problem, but we kept on and got through it, and we still use them. Recently, our dryer went out, so my husband called American Home Shield and we made an appointment with them.     The cooler on our AC unit was running, but there was no blower, so we weren't getting any air into the house at all. We turned the claim in on a Sunday, then on Monday, the repair company got us on the schedule for Tuesday. The gentleman showed up on time, and he was efficient. He got right to the heart of the issue, diagnosed it, and everything went really well. The only issue was we went a couple of days more with no AC. The repair company had to put in the ticket to AHS, make sure it got approved for the repair, and then they replaced the motor. Sometimes the repair people can do a video chat with to try to diagnose some of the issue and I don't know if that would have helped out on this claim, but if we could have given them a few more details, they may have had the part with them.

    With American Home Shield, I can go online, turn in my complaint and have them get it back to us with somebody who is qualified in the field. I can also go in and see that it is still in there. Only one time have I had an issue where AHS sent it to a particular company and, with all of the information that we had completed, they had a company reach out to us and they said, "We're not LG-certified." I said, "I have an LG refrigerator and it said that in our complaint." I don't know how that one happened, but I think that was just a fluke.

    AHS gets more expensive all the time, which I'm not happy about. But I appreciate that they have repaired things in my house that have broken down. They generally send out somebody who knows what they're doing and the customer service is pretty good. Sometimes I've had to wait a long time, but for the past few calls that I've had to call, I've not had to wait a long time. Also, the reps are very polite and always helpful. You can tell that speaking English is not their first language, but they're pretty clear for me. The coverage is good as well. You can get everything covered. You just have to pay for it. I have to pay extra for my refrigerator, but it includes my icemaker. The warranty is helpful, but sometimes I wonder if I should just put the money in my savings and pay for things when they break down. Recently, my dryer was not working and a young man came out. He fixed it right away and the service was excellent.

    Our dryer was making this horrible noise and you could hear it all across the entire house. So, we called AHS and they sent somebody out from Sears the next day. According to my granddaughter, who happens to work for Sears, they're called A&E. The tech came out and it wasn't too long after I showed him the dryer and turned it on that he hollered out to me and said that he was done. He diagnosed the issue perfectly and it turned out it was a roller. He replaced the part and did what he needed to do. The dryer works fine now and it doesn't make the noise anymore. The warranty's price is a little high though we got a lot covered. We went with one of American Home Shield's premium plans and it's about $90 a month. But it covers our septic, electronics, and everything. So for now, we're very happy with the service.

    I called the Home Shield insurance and they sent me a guy who took care of the coil on my AC unit. He didn't show up on time, but it was because he didn't have my real number. I had to call and give him my right number and he showed up the next day. It was great. The AC guy did not try to do any extra work.     I had my oven serviced and I haven't had to call American Shield for a while, but I was concerned because the vendor they were going to send out had very low ratings on Yelp. So, I called for another vendor and I was assured that we would have a quality guy. And we indeed did. His name was Doug and he was on time. He was from a company called Accord and he worked on the igniter of our oven that went out. I paid my 75 co-pay and I didn't see any other bill nor did the guy said we were going to be billed for the part. I'm was also going to call Accord this morning to tell the lady there that Doug did an outstanding job.

    Other than that, based on my experience, AHS doesn't hire top vendors. We had a guy come out for some little part on my dryer and he was not very competent. He broke three parts while he was fixing it. He kept going to the truck, bringing another part, then said he was sorry and that he broke the part. Then he left and didn't come back for another week. So, I was without a dryer for more than a week. Aside from that, there was this one plumbing company called a Right Time and we had their guy come out to fix the toilet. He said that we needed to change out our whole floor to anchor the toilet to the tile. But when we called our regular plumber who's so dependable, he fixed it in 10 minutes. So, I have my qualms about it American Home Shield's repair guys. I've also had the neighbors talk about unqualified people that have come to their houses.

    The air conditioning unit in the attic started pouring water out. So, I called American Home Shield and they sent out a roofer. The roofer got up there and he said it was the air conditioner. Then, Best Care came out and said there was a clogged drain pipe. So, they cleaned out the drain pipe and then, the ceiling fell in in the garage. So, they came back out and said that the compressor was not working right. They said it was causing things to freeze up and that was what was causing the water to dump up in the attic. So, they said I needed to replace the compressor and American Home Shield would contribute to that. But they said that my unit was 10 years old and something else could go bad in just a minute. And they talked us into doing more things.

    In the end, nobody from American Home Shield helped with the ceiling, so we were doing all that out of pocket. Although it seemed like we paid American Home Shield and Best Care to come out and do a quarterly inspection, and they were saying that the problem we were having was because the plumbing was wrong up there. Other than that, I have three houses that I have covered with AHS and with them, there's a trade-off between a response 24/7 and having people that speak English. But I really appreciate the fact that I do not have to track down a contractor.

    American Home Shield's service used to be fantastic. Now, everything's automated and it's hard for older people. I like to actually talk to a person. Their website is okay but it could be easier to use. Also, a lot of times, when something breaks on weekends or holidays, you might get someone that doesn't speak really clear English. They have a thick accent and it might be hard to understand them. So, you have to listen really hard and have them repeat. Aside from that, the amount of coverage included in the warranty has dropped some and I'm upset about the price going up. But everything is.

    I recently had a claim for my dishwasher and they got it fixed. On the other hand, my daughter has been waiting two weeks at her house for the people to come back with a part and she couldn't get ahold of anybody to talk to at American Home Shield. So, I found the number I used so she could call them. The experience depends on the contractor that they use because, a lot of times, you might not have a contractor that's readily available. I also had an issue when I wasn't getting cold water in the bathtub. The techs came right out and got that fixed.

    Over the weekend, I had to call American Home Shield because I couldn't get the pilot to re-light on the hot water heater. When I finally understood what the lady from AHS was saying, it turned out that she was trying to tell me that even if they took the $85 deductible from me and sent someone out, the technician wouldn't be able to repair it because the hot water heater is still under the manufacturer's warranty. So, I called the manufacturer's number on the hot water heater and they were really nice. They walked me through how to reset everything and the heater came right on. All in all, I've been impressed with AHS over the years or I wouldn't still have them.

    We had door locks changed with American Home Shield, then we had a big HVAC project. They were able to expediate the process and communicate who they were gonna set that up with, through email and texting. It took a quick amount of time and we had a response from the contractor that they were gonna use. For the HVAC, they covered all of it except $1,600. They paid $9,000 to the HVAC company because we had a whole new heat pump system replaced. That was really great to be able to cover that big expense with buying a new home. People don't anticipate having to put out a large deal of money and something goes faulty within that time period. The contractor came several times and tried to patch the problem and fix it the best they could, but in the end, it just couldn't be repaired anymore.

    American Home Shield company is taking over 6 weeks to complete repairs for critical home appliances (heating during winter) or denying simple repairs based technicalities (10 year old faucet not replaced because hole is not in normal wear and tear location - faucet neck rather than joint). Customer service practices are hanging up mid conversation, charging $95 fee to not renew contract. I'm not cancelling - Just not renewing. I've been a customer over 10 years. No longer!!

    The experience with American Home Shield was very terrible. The amount for the replacement of the condensate pipe was $600 and they would not cover that. We've paid 102 a month for years and there was not even an offer to pay half. So I cancelled on the 10th. Then on the 17th, they debited my account $102.99. They said the contract ended on September the 15th and because I cancelled it within 30 days of it expiring, they've had to charge me the amount. On the 17th, when I talked to the receptionist, she told me that they would refund the money to me. When I called on the 28th and had not received my refund, they said they couldn’t do it. It was just one thing after the other. When they called back today, I said it was fine.

    We had an ice maker that needed to be replaced in our primary residence and when my husband called in the work order, AHS said that they would waive the deductible. But after the techs came out and fixed it, there were some problems. AHS told my husband they could not waive it and they ended up charging him more for that. So, he was very highly upset. He cancelled back in July after escalating it.

    We have been very frustrated. We normally have had good customer service from American Home Shield so we always refer them. I referred one of my coworkers and they were supposed to send me an Amazon card for referring. I never got that and that was about two years ago. We refer because we have never had any issues with American Home Shield. This year was not a good year that we had dealings with them. So we decided that, with so many other companies out there, we would just cancel. They told me today I still got coverage until September the 14th and I said thank you. I don't care.

    We have been dedicated customers and always paid on time because it was automatically taken out of our account. So we wouldn’t have to mail in or have to call in payments. Also, when there was a service request, it was automatically taken out. So it was never about the payment being late for all these years. And all of a sudden, my mom is 83 sitting down in the house at the time when the temperature was 107. It was 90-something in her house and it was ridiculous. So, I paid the out-of-pocket to have that part fixed. There was also the frustration when you couldn't understand the people that you spoke with because their first language was not English and when you asked for someone else, there was no one else that could help you or the supervisor was on another line. They would offer to call back and if we say no, we would just hold. We would be on hold for 30 minutes waiting on somebody to come back. It has just been bad.

    I have had this service for several years and always paid my monthly premium. In December of 2022 I put in a service request for a free standing icemaker. I have made over 50 phone calls and still not have gotten a repair or replacement for the item. I was offered a cash in lieu of repair offer that would not even cover a repair or replacement cost for the item. I did not accept such a low ball offer and in return they have done absolutely nothing to repair the over the last 9 months. It is now September of 2023. They have not even sent a repair person out to evaluate the item in the last 9 months. The call center wait times and response and the hours they put you hold are extremely rude and unhelpful.

Also, sometimes AHS will let me look up the person they're assigning my claim to so I can pick a little bit. The tech was able to get the request then and two days after that, he got the new one and got it installed.     I've paid AHS $300 now on top of the monthly fee to resolve a breaker that is tripping. They have sent two companies out that both have 2-star ratings and whom you can never get in touch with. Both companies have an act for running the 30 day timer out so you have to pay another $100 to AHS. The last company they sent out the guy looked right at me and told me what needed to be done to fix the issue but refused to do it and file with AHS that it was complete to get paid.

    Needless to say, AHS has been trying for 2 weeks to get this company to answer their phone or email yet has offered no further assistance. I'm sure once the 30-day mark hits the company will answer their call. I called to cancel my warranty since they have now taken $300 from me and left me with a potential fire hazard in my home and they wanted to charge me a cancellation fee for not doing the one thing they have been paid to do. This company is horrible. AHS has over 26,000 complaints with the BBB and are all up in the News for doing people wrong, taking their money and never repairing items, etc. Save yourself the grief and avoid AHS at all cost before it costs you.

    My AC wasn't cooling. The tech from East Ohio Furnace said that my airflow is frozen. He put a little coolant and a leak thing in it. It lasted a month and a half and did the same thing again. He said it was all wet in there so there was a leak. They found it and said that they were gonna put the claim in to American Home Shield and they're gonna replace it. I got an email where AHS said everything was covered but I knew I was gonna pay for the coolant if they have to modify anything.

    I called AHS and talked to a rep. She said, "Well, there's nothing covered." I was irate. I said that I got an email and she said, "No, it's warranty work.". I said, "I know the part has the warranty. You're covering the labor and everything." But she said they weren't covering. I asked to talk to a manager but then she said there was nobody there. I used some choice words as I was a bit pissed off. When I got a call from East Ohio, the tech said, "These people call from call centers don't have a blessed clue. It's covered. The parts are ordered and I already told AHS. Don't worry. We're gonna get a part."

    Three days later, I got a call from AHS and the rep said, "You had a problem?". I explained to her. I talked to somebody else and the gentleman I spoke with was spot on. He said, "No, you're covered for all this." He told me they would cover all the labor and I gotta pay for the coolant. He was phenomenal. So, everything's fine now. American Home Shield has been fine.

    I have filed 3 claims with American Home Shield. Two of them have been nightmares. The experience I had with a rep named Corneila P was by far the biggest nightmare I have had to deal with to date. I chatted with her because they had assigned a case to a contractor who had not scheduled an appointment. I asked if I could have my claim reassigned to a different contractor since I had already waited 4 days.

    At first she said no, until I threatened to cancel the service. Then she said she would assign it to someone else. After cancelling the request, she then told me she wasn't going to follow through with assigning it to the company she said she would. When I asked that she follow through with what she promised, she said she had cancelled the request and then began to send me nonsense from their website. As of now, I have been on the chat with her for an hour and a half, going in constant circles because she failed to follow through with the expectation she set. She has pretty much convinced me to take my business elsewhere due to her poor customer service.

    My water heater broke down. The contractor was very nice and professional. The techs said my water heater was cracked inside and that they would need to order another one. I had received a quote from another company on my own and it was $1,200. The contractor said they had to do it through AHS so they called right there and AHS gave me a quote. I told them I wanted a particular brand, Bradford White but they gave me a quote for a Rheem. I didn't realize that. When they were unloading it, I saw that what I got was a Rheem. I told them I wanted Bradford White and they said that would be another $300. I said, "Fine, Go get me a Bradford White."

    So, they called around, found one and came back an hour and a half later with it. They installed everything and it was nice. Their boss called me later in the day after the heater was installed. He said that he talked to his guy and that the guy said that I had asked for a Bradford White. He said though the cost was $300, he would meet me halfway and give me credit for 150. I was very happy with that. With AHS, I like the ease of the service. It's worth it for the peace of mind.

    American Home Shield sent Island Mann Plumbing for my two faucets and a toilet. They tightened the faucets. The faucet head was loose, and one of them was apparently broken, and I elected not to have a new one put in at this time. The toilet was running. We had a high water bill. I did the claim online. It was quick and easy. My concern was not the claim itself but who was going to come out and if the job was going to be done correctly. This time was an excellent experience, but I've had previous experiences like when 3 Boys Appliance left a nonworking microwave sitting on the counter and closed the work order. American Home Shield stepped in and they corrected what was wrong. This was close to COVID and a lot of things were happening at that time internally with the family, so there were a lot of distractions, but American Home Shield replaced the microwave and mounted it like it should have been in the first place.

    It's just it is extremely difficult to get in contact with anybody at American Home Shield. What I did was unusual. I found American Home Shield employees on Indeed, and I did a mass emailing to everyone that I could within Indeed in order to get someone to respond. The way to contact American Home Shield needs to be easier for the consumer to resolve issues. When they have bad tradesmen, there needs to be an easier way of reporting it and not having that person come back to serve other people. I've already let them know that I absolutely do not want 3 Boys Appliance to ever come out to my house. There should be a easier process, especially when a ticket is closed when it's not supposed to be. It's time-consuming and draining on the homeowner.

    Two months ago, AHS sent out a tech to work on my refrigerator. The tech said he needed to have a new part and that he had to order it. Then, two minutes later, he said that he didn't need to order the part. So what is that? I don't know if he really fixed it. But not even a month later, it broke down with the same problem again and the tech told me that he could not fix it.

    AHS also wants to charge me again, so that's not very good. When I called AHS and talked to a rep, they said that they only give you 30 days no matter if it's the same problem or not and that really disappoints me. They should give you more than a month if they fix something and it broke down in a month. They should fix it for the same money because it's the same issue. So, I'm not using that refrigerator right now because I don't have the money to pay the $100. Aside from that, AHS charges so much monthly and I don't know why they go up so much either. Two weeks ago, they fixed my garage but they only covered some parts and I had to pay most of the money. It makes no sense sometimes to have the insurance.

    My pool claim went very well and I was very satisfied. But I have a claim with my air conditioner that’s been out there for six months, and I have been having problems with the unit for over two years. They were supposed to replace it but then didn't order the right parts. They came back, and then they had the wrong address for the vendor. It was shipped to the wrong address and they have to send it to another address. So it's a big hassle. The holdup is just the contractor getting it together, ordering the right part, and then getting the air handler unit. They told me that they were gonna get somebody to look at it and keep on top of it, but it seems like they don't have that. I'm very dissatisfied.     The process with American Home Shield is usually pretty fast. Getting hold of them is hard because they are busy. But once I get hold of somebody, they're out in a day or two. That's with the exception of my air conditioning as that was about two weeks. But everybody's air went out so that was hard. When I had my air conditioning put in, the people that came out were excellent.

    I also had my fan fixed and I would have liked to have a new one. It's a Hunter and it's 30 years old. But the techs thought they could fix it. That's okay. American Home Shield is good. As long as the contractors come from a good area, it's good. But if American Home Shield gets them up in the hills or 60 miles away, like going up to Grass Valley or up that way or Quincy, they don't even know what my toilet is because they don't even know what a commercial toilet is.

    The policy gets a little pricey. When you go through about three or four years, it's just a minimal thing. Now it's too expensive, especially for somebody who's on social security. It was 40 bucks before and it's almost 60 now. I'm thinking about quitting and not having them next year. I figure, for $600 a year now, I can afford to get somebody out here. Other than that, I would recommend American Home Shield.

    My previous warranty company couldn't find a service provider in my area and couldn't connect me. But with American Home Shield, I liked that when you file your claim online, they connect you with the service provider in your area and within 24 hours. I filed two claims with them.     It's been horrible with AHS. We've had issues with our AC unit. We have three floors. One unit is for the bottom and the second unit is for the second and third floor. We're on our fourth call in regards to our AC unit going out. The first time, the pipes froze and they came in and told us to turn it off. We did what they said and it worked and they couldn't figure out what was going on. A day or two went by and the same thing happened.

    When they came out the very last time, the bottom unit ended up going out. The tech said it was the compressor. The second floor unit wasn't working either and on that one, he said the drain was clogged. What was explained to us is that the drain gets clogged and it accumulates water in the drip pan. Once the drip pan gets to a certain level, it shuts the system off so it prevents itself from overflowing into the house. It's been so hot here in Charleston and the humidity dries up, and that's where the water that's inside the drip pan. The system thinks all is well and it starts producing again. We keep going through that cycle. They unclogged it and he said everything is well. But two days later, the air upstairs is not working again.

    My husband called yesterday and he was very unhappy with the customer service. He called to say they've already had this one company come out four times and they still have not fixed the issue and if we could have another person come out. He was told no, because we have to let them fix it and they're the ones who have to tell American Home Shield that they can't fix it before anybody else gets sent out. If they're supposed to be working for me, why do I have to wait to a vendor?

    Also, there's a huge communication barrier because they don't understand what we're saying and it's almost like they're trying to read off of a script. People outsource work all the time. Nothing wrong with that. But get people who understand customer service and understand how to communicate better. We are due to renew in September and my husband already said we're not renewing.

    American Home Shield's service is not great. I don't know if I can get any better. I have a refrigerator that I've paid in fees enough to where I could have replaced it, and it never gets fixed. I stopped making a claim on it. It's broken. They come out and they tell me that they can't fix it, and then American Home Shield won't replace it. It costs me $75 to $100 every time they come out, and I've already paid enough to where I could have just bought one. They've attempted to repair it. They told me it was the circuit board, so they replaced the circuit board. Then, they said that the thermometer for the thermostat is located in a bad place because this unit is designed improperly, so they moved the thermostat. One time, they said, "Well, the drainage is pinched." So, they cut off the drainage pinch.

    They just keep saying it's different things and it's not different issues, it's always the same issue that is happening with the fridge. It's never been fixed. They've done all kinds of tinkering with it every time they come out, but they never fixed it. I've had an issue with the AC unit where they've replaced the compressor twice now. The first time they replaced it, it lasted less than two years. It just seems that the part that they're giving me to replace it with is substandard. I've thought of switching before, especially with the issues with the fridge but the only issue is I don't know if the fridge will be covered anymore. Also, they're the only company that covers my pool.

    The tech said something about the outer coil not keeping the refrigerator cool. It was not repairable and we needed to replace it.     The tech from All Country Home Repair was great but he just does repairs. When our dishwasher needed to be replaced, American Home Shield was gonna find somebody to do the installation but they couldn’t. So, I had to find my own contractor to install it. AHS authorized me to pay the tech and then, they reimbursed me for the installation. The estimate was about 250 to 280 and it ended up almost 300. But I was fine with AHS covering the 250.

    My water heater went out and Rockland Plumbing took care of it. They did a great job and were very professional. After they fixed the heater, my main shower was still not heating up so I called them back. American Home Shield put in a recall. So the techs called me and I explained what was going on. They told me that was probably not the water heater and the faucet might be the problem. But the other faucets in the house are working and they are getting hot water. They told me that I needed to put another claim to American Home Shield so that they could come in and take a look at it. But I've not put in the request yet.

    I’ve had American Home Shield for 26 years now and sometimes, they make me mad. But they've done everything in the past. When I'm not satisfied, they do their best to eventually rectify the issue even if it takes a long time. Every issue I’ve had has been due to a contractor and it's not even AHS that is the problem.     I am dissatisfied with the results of the recent technical visit to address the issues with my refrigerator and microwave oven. What is even more frustrating is the repeated advice about not blocking the vent, which has not effectively resolved the problem. We seek AHS help to address these issues, but the solutions provided have not resulted in successful resolutions. As a result, we continue to face challenges and anticipate regular food wastage.

    American Home Shield and HSA are the same company depending on where you're located. I have another home that I have a home warranty on that's in Maryland and it's covered under HSA. It’s like night-and-day difference working with them. They have much better service. With AHS, you have to fight to get through the frontline people to be able to talk to a supervisor when I shouldn't have to go through all those changes. When I asked to speak to a supervisor about the last situation I had, it was ridiculous. I had to insist and raise my voice. I'm not happy with that at all, enough so that I would change companies.

    Recently, I had I had to have the compressor replaced in my air conditioner. Tru Tech, their contractor, is very professional. I ask for them every time I need anything done with my heating and air conditioning because of the type of service they provide. But if I have questions related to the compressor, the frontline person cannot answer it. So, why can't I talk to the people who are dealing with the part or the department to get my questions answered? Four years ago, I had the same problem and the person who was supposed to be helping me was working from home and did not call me back on a timely basis.

    AHS automatically assigns you to a contractor. If I have a history with a contractor, I should be able to select them right off. But I cannot select them immediately. I have to call AHS and change to the contractor I want to have. Sometimes, that can delay service for 24 hours or longer.

    My most recent claim with AHS was for my microwave. It would turn on, but it wouldn't heat. The appliance was 41 years old. It's built into the wall as is my oven. I received a check in a timely fashion for the appliance because they were not able to fix it. There are no parts available for my oven. The techs that come to the house, for the most part, have been absolutely wonderful. They're good. They know what they're doing and they're very efficient. However, the people that you call on the phone to get the service, first of all, English is not their first language, so they do have an accent which can come into play.     AHS would fix stuff most of the time. Their price is a little steep but their service has been good. When I got sick with the COVID and I had problems with my dishwasher, the tech came in and I had the idea that the guy was going to come back and replace it. But I found out two months later that he wasn't coming back because AHS turned down the claim and nobody bothered to tell me because the machine was 20 years old. I also had a claim recently for the air conditioner and the tech who came out for that was really great. He had to clean it as the thing was clogged up at the top and the water was backing up on it.

    I was having problems with my air conditioning unit. It wasn't cooling and it was leaking. I made a claim over the internet with American Home Shield on a Saturday night, then I was contacted on Monday. They told me that someone would reach out to me within 24 hours to schedule an appointment and have someone to come out to service my air conditioning. I was standing over him because I was trying to learn something about the air conditioning unit, how it works, and what happened that led to this problem. This guy walked me through the whole science behind the air conditioning, what happens when it starts to leak, and how I got to that problem. It was an amazing experience and the guy was extremely professional. He was also kind and it was like I had a relative come to my house and helping me.

    At no time did I feel like this guy was suspect or that he didn't have my best interest at heart in terms of wanting to get my problem resolved and get it resolved quickly. He even gave me some tips on how I could avoid the problems that I was having. Since the repair, I haven't had any issue with the AC. In fact, it's gotten better and it's like the North Pole in here. I also got the guy's information because any time I have problems, I may even bypass if I have to and go straight to this guy. Other than that, the price of the warranty is reasonable. I'm paying AHS about $50, then I paid $100 for deducted copay.

    About a few weeks ago, our AC units were not working. We had to filed a claim online with AHS and their website was very user-friendly. We had a response within 24 hours and we had them fixed quickly. The techs from the Myers Comfort Specialists of Montgomery came out and they were very professional. They knew what they were doing and we were happy with the outcome.

    The issue on the first AC was due to a cracked drain pan and it took a couple of weeks to resolve because they had to order a part. During that time, our other AC unit messed up due to the condensation pipe causing the flow switch to trip because it was trying to compensate for the whole house while the other one was dead. But the second one was fixed within 24 hours. Then, our downstairs unit broke again and we currently have a ticket pending for that. AHS assigned the same people and I keep on calling them about the part, which they're working on ordering. Other than that, we got a decent price for the warranty and the service has been pretty good so far.

    The repair people were super nice and very knowledgeable, and they did the job the same day. My AC was running, but the coolant was low. They said that American Home Shield covers $10 per gallon of the coolant, so I had to pay out of pocket. However, I usually don't have to pay out of pocket for things, which is good. I'd tell people to definitely look into American Home Shield and see if it works for their situation.

    I had two faucets that needed to be replaced, and I set up the request online. iPlumb came, and they recommended some that the faucets could be replaced with then they replaced them after they got approval. It's been great. The American Home Shield warranty is good, but the price just went up and there's no reason that it needs to be this expensive. Most of the time, they try to get out of stuff. They often try to argue things that are not in the warranty. If you read the warranty, it says one thing then they try to say that things are not covered. I'll say, “Well, it says, ‘All parts and pieces.’ What are you talking about?” They'll say, "Well, this is different than the whole thing."

    I have used the phone system for claims many times, but I don't use it as much as I can. I tend to use the online. The people that work with the chat are much nicer, and I get through to somebody quickly and get my stuff resolved very quickly with them. It's been a much improved situation. It's better than the phone system where the customer service reps are very aggressive. They find any excuse they possibly can to get out of covering something. They've even accused me of hanging off of my refrigerator door. They told me that the work person told them that there was no other way it could have happened except somebody was hanging on the door, and we don't have any children here. They didn't wanna replace this thing in the refrigerator. It was one little plastic piece, and it was very cheap.

    The process is easy. We do everything online through the online account, then we submit the claim and pay the deductible, then the vendor contacts us. We've filed two claims and they were both pool-related. The tech was in and out and he solved the problem. With American Home Shield, we have peace of mind knowing at least we have a warranty. It may or may not cover it though. Weighing our options, I don't know if we will renew. The warranty is expensive, especially when we add on pool coverage, and we've learned there's a lot of fine print, especially with the pool. The first issue we had was not covered, but the second issue was.

    I got a letter from the city telling me that I must have a water leak, so I went down to my basement which I hadn't been down for a while, and the water heater was leaking. I called my home warranty, and they hooked me up with Apollo. Apollo came out, did a review, and got it okayed, then another plumber brought in the new water heater, installed it, and took out the old one. Everybody did a good job. It was quite timely, and I have no complaints. Plus, I didn't have to find someone to carry out my water heater that was broken. I'd tell people to buy a warranty.

    If you should realize that you will not be using the service like I did, you will have a very difficult time canceling. I canceled my account and they told me I had to finish out my contract. They said they’d give me a few free months and pay for the last two months and then the plan would be canceled. After this period was up I got something in the mail saying my account was reinstated and charges would continue. I called back where it took 20 to 30 minutes of wait time bouncing around to different customer service people to no avail. The bills for AHS come in my name, yet they told me it was my husband who needed to cancel the account. His name is not on the billing mailers at all. The first time I canceled they did not need his verification. It seems to me like they are trying to keep every bit of customers they can. Beware.

    I make my claims online with AHS and I hear back very quickly online, and they assign me whoever. Then immediately I call whoever and they usually already have the information from American Home Shield and I make an appointment right then. They had to replace a microwave and they did everything they were supposed to do, above and beyond. My experience with the techs has been awesome, too. I have not had any problems. Everything's been taken care of immediately. I made a claim for the HVAC yesterday with AHS and the techs came out today. However, I wish the price of the policy would come down a little.

    I used American Home Shield warranty plan for 3 years for an AirBnb property. I was satisfied with the service when I had a minor problem with the dishwasher. The repairman was competent & he provided timely service. I recommend you read the details of the policy. The company they sent for an old air conditioner was rated two stars. They recommended repair, but the repair would not be guaranteed, and they pay very little for for freon (which is fair since it's stated in the policy). According to the policy, you can get a second opinion. If the second opinion disagrees with the provider AHS sent, the repair must be done by the (poorly rated) company they sent.

    Next I had an issue with a refrigerator. The repairman looked at it & said "I can't fix it". My renter was without a refrigerator for 20 days. The final repairman said it has reset itself & is working again. He offered to come out again for free if it had another problem, but I replaced it, which probably should have been done right away. I'm done with home warranty programs, the frustration isn't worth it to me.

    Greens Appliance did a wonderful job on our recent claim when my refrigerator was not cooling and my washing machine was dripping water into the tub. I called AHS on a Friday and Greens Appliance came out that Monday. I like the convenience of having AHS. The only thing I have a complaint with is, somehow, I didn't get in on the package where I have to pay $125 for them to come out. I hate that and I wish it was cheaper.

    If you need an AC person, they come out and handle the claim. However, American Home Shield sent me an email that they are changing the plan which I don't like. They are putting limitation on the HVAC system. I don't understand if the payment is the same and why they're changing the plan. I may look for another home warranty system. When I first bought my house, American Home Shield gave me a gift for a key change. The key guy fought with me for no reason. They told me that they would show up but didn't. The next day, they scheduled but I didn't know. I told them I was not gonna be home. He hang up on me. It was not trustful because I was living alone at that time. I didn't feel comfortable and I didn't wanna let him in and change my key. He also told me, "You are living alone." If I'm telling you you're living alone, that means it's threatening somebody. I gave American Home Shield a call, told them what happened and they sent me a new person.

    The overflow pan was overflowing and needed to be cleaned out. I made a service request on the cellphone and the when the techs came out, they cleaned it out and got out.     American Home Shield fixed my stove twice. They did do a good job on that. The appliance company that came out knew what went bad. They put the order in the same day and came back the next week with the part and put it in. The reps try to be helpful on the phone. However, their cost is ridiculous because every year they go up, and they don't tell you. For all the money I spend every month, American Home Shield did not fix my hot water tank when it went bad. They sent somebody here that didn't know what he was doing. He flooded my bedroom from the hot water tank. I wound up having to go out of my pocket and buy my own hot water tank because they told me sediment wasn't covered. They should have done a better job than what they did.

    They did the same thing with my air conditioner. They didn't buy me a new air conditioner when it went bad. I had to keep filling it up with freon. They were charging $20 a pound for that. It wasn't worth to fill that up. I was spending $500 to get my air conditioning filled up when I could take that money and put a down payment on a new air conditioner. They gave me $1,000 and told me I was on my own.

    When I have a claim, I would go on the internet, pay the fee to AHS and type in a brief description of the problem. Then, AHS would send send me a text or an email pretty quickly. The techs they've provided have always been good and I'm very happy with the coverage. The price is a little high but I expect I might use the policy throughout the year. So, the worst case, it's a wash. I recently had an air conditioning issue and it took AHS a day to get a tech out. The tech was fantastic.
