A few months ago, my washer's spinner was vibrating so I went online to submit a claim to AHS. It was very easy. They contacted me and Sears, the contractor, was able to contact me to set up the appointment. They ordered the parts, the parts came and they installed what they needed to fix my washer. Since then, the washer has been great. I thought they had to replace a bearing in the drum and I thought they were just gonna buy me a new one but they repaired it and it's been working wonderful. They gave fantastic service anytime I needed it, that's why I have recommended them to my neighbors.

I recently filed a claim for the dishwasher and refrigerator and it was taken cared of by AHS. But the time before that, we didn't have a really good experience. My furnace went out and I had to pay $900 before they would do anything about it, which I thought was very unusual. And then later, the main office refunded $200 but I was charged $700 for a somewhat unrelated work. I'm not sure if they did $700 worth of work as they were here in just a few hours. But that's the problem I have with that one. I don't know what my contract reached regarding a furnace replacement. There was this other time when we had a plumbing problem and we didn't have the right parts, so they had to come back again. And then, we got charged the second time for the service call. I had to make a lot of calls to further get rid of that charge which one person didn't know anything about.

Recently our sewer pipe was clogged. My husband does the submission of claims to AHS and takes care of it all, so, it doesn't bother me at all. But he didn't complain about submitting a claim to AHS. He made the phone call and let them know what's going on to AHS. And then, the plumber called him and made an appointment and the plumber came out. My husband said everything seemed to go really well when the plumber came out. The guy got the work done and didn't make a mess. He was real polite.

The time before that, when we moved in, we turned the handle of our shower and the whole shower head came off from the wall. They sent a plumber out for that and that guy was a little weird. I was there at home and waiting for him and he showed up in an unmarked vehicle. He looked like a little disheveled and didn't look professional. I would have preferred him at least have the company on his truck or offered me a card so I know that he's actually a professional person, not just coming in to case the joint, but he got the shower fixed.

The electricity guy was really great. It looked like the caps of the wiring were not on and he was frustrated because the one who inspected the house didn't catch that. And so, he did a whole lot of work for us that he didn't really charge for. He went above and beyond and did a bunch of stuff for free. He was really nice and spent a lot of time in the attic that he didn't have to. Our experience with AHS was easy and worry-free. We also renewed for another three years with them.

I submitted a claim online to AHS regarding our ice maker that wouldn't work. My husband was home when the technician came and he said the technician couldn’t fix it so they’re gonna replace it. I had to send in a paid invoice to get reimbursed and AHS did it within two weeks and no issues. It was fast and easy. The folks that I spoke to were great and the service was really good. My experience with AHS went very smoothly.

We have had issues since we bought our house. Like many others before us we had to pay the flat rate of $75 to get the technicians out. I've paid well over $1500 in R-22 fill ups. Every summer we have to dump 4-5 lbs of R-22 into the machine. Which common sense tells me it is leaking. We have had several different technicians come out and assess the unit just to do minor band aid improvement that are only short term. Today 5/25/16 we had a technician come out and immediately point out the hole that is in the unit.

I'm sorry, but after 3 summers of the same problem we FINALLY found a technician that pointed out the problem and said we needed to have the entire system replaced. I was so happy, I have a pregnant wife at home and Minnesota summers are hot and humid. So he submits the claim to AHS and guess what they deny it. They were oh-so-cool with me paying the 675 every year and the 75 fee for every technician. But once they find out the unit is broken they say it happened outside of normal wear and tear. They have an opportunity to do the RIGHT thing. What is the point of having insurance if when it comes time to use it, they deny it and make you pay out of pocket.

I've had several calls previously with AHS throughout the last three years and they’ve always come out and repaired it. The most recent claim that I had with them was for a replacement of my air conditioning unit which went great. The contractor was very detailed, nice and courteous. He explained everything as far as what was being replaced and made sure that American Home Shield had contacted me to confirm the out-of-pocket cost. The contractors came on time and even though they had a lot of work to do, they were very thorough in explaining what they were doing. They were efficient and cleaned up before they left.

The most memorable claim I had with American Home Shield was last year when I had lots of problems with it with my air conditioner. This was summer time when the air conditioner quit working. I had the same contractor but that one quit responding to my calls or emails. I asked them to send somebody else and they said they would if I pay another $75 fee. I finally convinced the supervisor that they should send out another contractor without me having to pay another fee since the person they sent out was incapable. They finally did that and they told me they were going to do something. I said I'll try to schedule the work, but then they quit responding and wouldn't answer phone calls. That was probably eight to ten weeks that we were without air conditioning. None of the three contractors AHS sent had the same remedy for the problem. One of them even lied. They said they replaced the TXV, but they did not.

I'm in construction and I hired one of my own contractors to do the work on my air conditioner. It cost me about 400 bucks to fix it. I sent a certified letter to American Home Shield with my issues. I also sent pictures of what they claim to be the replaced TXV, which was actually the original one. I asked them to contact me to talk about it, but I never got a response from them for my claim.

It was very easy to file a claim for my air condition. I called and told the rep what the problem was. She was very nice and prompt in giving me information and setting up an appointment for me. She gave me the company's phone number in case they didn't call me by a certain time. But they called me very early the next day and told me that they would be able to do it for me the following day. I had explained to them that my wife has a sinus problem and if possible, I'd like to get it done as soon as possible. So, she told me to hold on a minute and then she came back and told me that she would have somebody out there to do it the same day. I've always had outstanding service whenever I call them and tell them I had a problem. I'd tell them what the problem was and they would get on to it immediately.

I have a five-year-old LG refrigerator and door mullion is broken. So created a service request and asked for the technician visit. So technician came home after 5 days and check the refrigerator and explained to me about the issue and told me that "As this is a normal wear and tear, most probably AHS would approve the request and send you the parts." He started discussing timelines on when I would be receiving the parts and when it can be replaced. Fast forward. Two days after, AHS called me today (05/25) and left a VM that the request was denied and it was not a normal wear and tear. So called them and asked them why it was denied. So the customer rep started giving the apologies but at the same time gave me an answer that they have a right to deny the request as per the contract. So I asked them what can be considered as normal wear and tear and list of parts that they would replace in the contract.

They mentioned to me that it was technician's input to them and after lot of conversations I was transferred to Retention dept. She said she can cancel the contract and will not give my money back. I asked her why. She cited the contract again. Then she offered that they would send another technician to come and inspect the same refrigerator and give their opinion. Why I should be wasting my time with another company and another technician when they have a standard policy of denying the claim if the repair is going to cost them more.

So this is what I am planning to do. I am going to contact Texas Attorney general's office and I am going to ask them to investigate all the dollar amount on all denied claims and I am positive with enough data mining on all of their denied claims, Attorney General's office would find certainly find some grounds to call AHS practices as "unfair trade practices." I will not rest until these folks answer someone. They cannot just hide behind their contract and fine prints. Please do not purchase the service from AHS instead you would be better off donating that money for a good cause. At least you wouldn't be spending another 100 bucks for technician's visit.

AHS has NO company in my area to do this job, although I paid them extra for this service. Now they tell me to find my own company and they will reimburse me later. I was under the assumption that this is what I was paying them to do! I am 72 yrs of age and not in excellent health. They keep running us in a circles. I have had to hire external people to unclog my toilets twice. They are not a company to be trusted.

A week after moving into our new home, we suddenly found ourselves with no electric service in three of our bedrooms. Luckily we have a Home Warranty with American Home Shield (AHS) that covers our electric service. We called a representative at AHS and scheduled a service call for the following day at 12:30 in the afternoon. An electrical technician showed up the next day exactly at 12:30. He was neatly and professionally dressed, he introduced and identified himself, and then after asking us to explain what our issue was, he started working to find and solve the cause of our problem. It took him about an hour and half to finish and during that time he traced and checked all of the electrical lines in the house, repaired the problem and then took the time to explain what caused it.

I think what impressed me most about this service and the individual who came to our house was his professionalism, his demeanor, and his honesty. After writing a check for the $75 dollar service fee; which in itself was well worth and cheaper than what it would have cost me if I didn't have an AHS Warranty on my house, I offered the guy a cash tip for his efforts. Without skipping a beat he politely refuse the offer by saying, "No, no thank you, that is not necessary and I get paid very well for my work from American Home Shield." He could have easily take the money and left and it wouldn't have bothered me a bit because the service was excellent and my issue was resolved without any further incidence.

It's especially rare these days to get quick response, excellent service and honesty all in one package. The cost is affordable and worth it; especially considering the fees charged by a regular serviceman would be double what AHS charges per service call just for showing up at your door. I can easily recommend any homeowner to (AHS) for a home warranty policy. It saves time, money and worry; and you can't ask for more than that.

I have been used American Home Shield and Home American Warranty. They are okay to service you a small amount of fee to fix your repair. But if your appliance or any other the repair cost more than 500 or more they are trying to refuse and give you whole bunch of reasons to get away of it. So they don't have to repair for it. I learned a lesson. I pay them too much but they didn't service well if the cost repair is more than what you pay for them. They will service you well if your cost less than 200. Then you may think that is a good deal, but finally they will drip your money. I recommended don't use any home owner warranty. You pay them about average $57 or $60 per. You multiply 12 months is around $700 dollars right there. You can save this $700 in your pocket instead of deposit to their bank account. It is not worth to deal with this. NOT RECOMMENDED TO DEAL WITH HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE. BELIEVE IT.

I have had a policy with American Home Shield since 2005. When the policy was sold to me it was specifically stated that the policy would cover the well pump for our lawn watering system. The pump was replaced in September, 2006 and to the best of my knowledge, they paid for the replacement. The pump has gone bad again and now they are claiming that they only insure water pumps that are used for the home water supply. They also claim that they denied the claim in 2006. Our complaint is that they have been billing us for covering the water pump since day one of the policy. We have asked for a refund for all of the premiums we have paid on the water pump but they refuse to do so. By their own admission they have known since 2006 that they have been charging us for something that they do not cover. They say that we should have removed the water pump from the policy but we have no recollection of ever being told to do so.

Also, if they declined payment back in 2006 because they don't cover water pumps used for non-household water, why did they not stop charging a premium for that coverage? We had one other issue with them a few years ago when they declined to pay for service on our air conditioning service. We should have canceled then but did not. We will definitely cancel the policy now and will file a claim in small claims court.

Our discussion with them today was very unsatisfactory. They are definitely NOT customer oriented. The representative that we talked to claimed to not have a supervisor. She claimed repeatedly that she was as high in the company that we could get to discuss our issue. When asked for her name so we can attempt to talk to a more senior person she would only give us her first name - she refused to give us her last name. She also refused to talk to my significant other, who I asked to talk to her on my behalf, claiming that he is not on the policy. Really? I can't have someone else represent me? At one point they said I should have my attorney contact them. Really? Hire an attorney to talk to them? Their customer service sucks!! If you have to call them, have at least 10-20 minutes to get to a person. Maybe that should have been the first clue as to what kind of a company we're dealing with? VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! A SHAM??

A year ago, my oven quit working. I called AHS to file a claim and they sent a guy out. It usually goes like that with AHS - I just tell them what my problem is, they set it all up, and send the man out. I'm not having problems with their technicians. They just knock on the door, diagnose the problem, then fix it. I give them the money and they go home.

Our most recent claim was on a dryer repair. It was the third time we called about it and it's still not done right, because all they had to do was replace the timer and so far they haven’t worked. My wife put in some clothes this morning at 6:00 when she left to go to work and they were still running at 8:00. To me that’s a fire hazard. I haven’t called them back on it this time. It doesn’t seem to be worth the money we’re paying for. I’ve paid $275 payments on that dryer and that gets old.

I also called them out twice on a downstairs commode leak because the ring on the commode totally needed to be leveled with the commode. They got it leveled and it’s sturdy but it still leaks a little in the back when we flush it. I haven’t called them back on that one either. Moreover, the other issues I called them to fix such as extra shower because the on-and-off handle was broken, I called them twice on that but it was my nephew who fixed it. The O-ring was cut. And so we went to Lowe’s and bought a small bag of O-rings and he put one on and fixed it. So basically I’m three repairs for three and none of them was done right from the get go.

I’ve always had good experience with American Home Shield. We had them for almost 20 years. Recently, I had a wet spot on the ceiling. When the contractor came out, he said it was dry and that maybe it still wasn’t leaking. So he punched a hole through it and ran a camera up there and looked around, but he probably wasn’t sure that Home Shield would pay for something like that. It wasn't wet so I said "forget about it and if it got wet again, I’d call back." He charged me $75 for that. But I reached back out to AHS and it would be covered if it happens again because nothing was done.

There was also one time when the part of the big fluorescent light in the kitchen wasn’t covered so I paid my $75, the contractor left and didn’t do anything, except we called the contractor back. He came back and replaced the ballast in the light at my expense. But I'd still recommend AHS. The process is great. Sometimes I just have to wait a little longer, but other than that, it’s no issue.

I wouldn’t be continuing to use them if they were all bad. I always find the people at their desk answer very responsively. I’ve had one issue with them in the past but it was eventually resolved. It was just not what I expected compared to how they’ve always been and how they’ve been since, but not everybody is perfect. As a senior, I have a problem finding people to do work so it’s nice to be able to make one phone call and have people come out that have been recommended and are being used. I had a plumbing problem. AHS got somebody out over the weekend and I was very pleased that they could get somebody. I filed a claim initially online and then they got back to me with a phone number and the name of the vendor. I was impatient and so I expedited the whole thing by calling the vendor myself. It turned out that one plumber wasn't going to be available until the next day. It was a weekend. So, I contacted them to ask if there was another vendor that would be more likely to come out on the weekend and they got one for me.

The guy came out within just a couple of hours. He helped me figure out what my next plan of action was, which was the line that goes out to the street as it's not covered by AHS. He also helped me with stuff in the house to get it cleared temporarily. I then had to hire somebody to do the work outside. AHS did what they advertised that they would do, and they helped me get through my emergency. It was a happy ending.

I have had 2 unbelievable experiences with American Home Shield. Both horrible. I will highlight them. Current: I own a single family rental property. I pay $45 a month for "protection". I have a $100 deductible. Water heater began leaking. Clearly why you have a home warranty. AHS sent a company to replace. I was told that AHS only pays for the heater and replacement. The contractor said that there needed to be new fixtures put on and the total was $350 (plus the $100). My contract says: "5. WATER HEATERS - COVERED: All components and parts, including tankless water heaters and circulating pumps, except: NOT COVERED: Auxiliary holding or storage tanks, Noise Fuel storage tank and energy conservation unit."

I had to get it replaced as it is my obligation to keep my tenants safe and the home in working order. I called the contractor and they said that was ridiculous and I should ask for a concession on the $350. The contractor even called AHS to tell them they should concede. No concession. 3 weeks later after many calls, "customer service" called and asked how the service was. I laid into them of course and they said "if we conceded $250 and sent you a check, would you be satisfied?" I said yes. Never saw the check, no notes in their system.

Air conditioner wasn't cooling so I order a service check-up through AHS. The contractor came over and said it just need 5 lbs of refrigerant. I said "great, how much?" The going rate (I called around) is $80... AHS pays only $10. The service call was $75 so after my $100 deductible, AHS ends up paying $25. I paid $350 plus $100 plus $45 a month.

My concern: people go to them to be protected for excessive charges. Their website says "It's a one-year service agreement that covers the repair or replacement of many major home system components and appliances that typically breakdown over time due to normal wear and tear." This is a classic bait and switch. The contract was so complicated that the regular homeowner doesn't know what they are getting into. I am not a plumber, an HVAC tech, or an appliance expert. We rely on a warranty company to protect us. I DO NOT FEEL PROTECTED.

Over the past 6 years, $3340 in monthly fees, $200 in deductibles and $700 in additional "non-covered" cost. I have used them twice. I called them today and spent 30 minutes with them having them basically tell me that it is my fault for not reading the contract. I am not renewing with a home warranty company. CONSUMER BEWARE.

My washing machine had a problem with the agitator in January, so I filed a claim and they gave me the service provider right away. The service provider contacted me right away to make an appointment, but they took quite a bit of time in between. They got it on and it failed again in about 30 days. I was out of town and my mother-in-law was here with my husband who was recovering from the hospital. The service provider told her "it's just your power was off", so they reset the power and left. Whatever had used the power off at the first, it did again.

When I got home I called them and said they never really evaluated the washing machine. They just determined that we don’t know how to tell if the power is off. They came out again and determined it was a part problem. They ordered another part. After at least a week for the part to get in and another to get the service provider out, they put that part in and they were helpful.

Then a few weeks, it went out again. They took them again and ordered a motor because they think that’s the problem. I waited another week and it still hadn’t come in. I was frustrated, so I called American Home Shield because I hadn’t really been calling them and I've only been trying to work through the provider. I told them my challenge and then within an hour the provider called and said that the part would be in Wednesday and as soon as they could do was 1:00 to 6:00 on Thursday this week which I took. I still don’t have a washing machine that works. But American Home Shield was very nice. The lady listened to me and I explained to her that L.A. Appliance has been very nice.

With the responsiveness that American Home Shield has done in the period of time which I've contacted them or asked to help or participate, they have done a really good job. It will be interesting to see what happens if the washing machine isn't fixed because now we had a new motor and two new major parts. I'm hoping it's working now. Overall, I would recommend AHS.

However, when submitting a claim, it’s usually not easy to reach someone. I have to stay on the line while the music plays and I stayed on as long as 15 minutes before somebody picked up. The last time I called, it wasn’t quite that bad since it was only about five minutes but still I dread calling because it takes so long. But the people are very efficient once you get a hold of them. The person I talk with knows what I need, takes care of the claim and tells me who will be sent here in Texas, and so that speeds things up. I’d still recommend AHS.

I always get excellent service from American Home Shield. I'd call them up, they handle the issue, and give me the individual. They always give me an expert in the field, so if it's an electrical problem, I get an electrician. They also give me the company name and the phone number just in case that company doesn't call me within 24 hours. Five years ago, a plumber said he couldn't fix my water heater and left. It was the coldest day that we ever had down in Texas and I had to call them up and have them deal with that because I'm an old lady and I can't tolerate freezing to death. Although that wasn't American Home Shield's issue, they were very prompt and had somebody up in my system fixing it right away.

However, the man who put a new motor in when he was fixing the heater forgot to put some type of switch that was supposed to be flipped when readjusting stuff, so I couldn't get my air conditioning running. I had to have another person come out and that's when I found out that the previous guy didn't finish that part. The new guy finished it, so everything got recycled okay. Generally speaking, AHS is always very courteous when I call them. As a matter of fact, I've recommended them to someone who had no idea about a maintenance service.

That is a ridiculous policy and looks like they are just trying to avoid paying for repairs. Will the car dealer refuse repair if the car's silencer pipe is defective while under warranty? This call took months for them to give me a response. Service technician visited and AHS would not update me on the status. I called them twice and they don't give me an answer and always say they will get back to us. Finally they said after three months it is not covered. Who would have time to follow-up this many times for a simple home appliance repair? I don't see a reason why you would want a home warranty that does not pay for covered repairs when needed.

Claim submission was complicated. The claims reps were totally unbending and strictly stuck by their rules. The service provider had to come four different times and I finally refused to let them into my home because every time they came, something else was broken. I got five different estimates for what was wrong. The first guy who was sent by Total Air Care put the capacitor in backwards. The system did worse. The second guy said the first guy had put the capacitor in backwards and may have burned up the motor. Then there was a leak in Freon when there hadn’t been a leak until they started to run over the system. I was told that I had to pay from $35-$75 a pound for Freon. It finally got repaired and it cost me $300.

As American Home Shield's customer, when a service provider does not do the repair properly, the warranty company should back me and say, “We’ll get somebody else sent there.” They just kept sending back the same clowns that kept messing the system. I’m looking for another home warranty company.

We love AHS and always recommend them. But the last claim we had was for our washing machine and they still have not finished it. It’s driving me nuts because they screwed up the wall and they haven’t come back to fix it. I need to call them and have them come and fix it but nobody has called me and it’s been three weeks now. Calling in was always a problem. I have to wait long times, sometimes 40 minutes before somebody would answer the phone and it was a pain in the neck. Now AHS has changed it so it’s an automatic answer even though it’s a problem with the automatic answering, I still get somebody and I appreciate the fact that they have tried to change it.

When we call in at AHS and we get the auto-answer to give messages, it doesn’t work right. It asks for the information but then it skips the sound and it doesn’t finish the sentence. For instance, if you’re looking for claims information, hit the number 1 button. If you want to find out a current claim that you’ve already gotten, hit the dial number 2. So you don’t know exactly what you’re supposed to do. Then because you don’t know what you’re doing, it says, “I’m not receiving a correct answer.” So then it starts all over again. Then when it starts all over again, it completes it correctly so you make it all the way through. I have multiple houses and because of this, if I do not have my contract number in front of me, I cannot get it to the correct house. So I end up with people calling me and trying to make an appointment for my house instead of the appointment at the house that I need the help at. It’s a requirement to have a contract number.

American Home Shield responded and when I called them I said, "I can't take this for the whole weekend." They gave me authority to go out and contact a local company that normally doesn't deal with them and have them come out and they paid the bill. It was a Saturday and I was able to get somebody who was working half day. But that's the only drawback, that sometimes it takes a bit longer to get service when you got to go out of the norm. The eight weeks of jumping through hoops and begging for service for my stove have put me off with American Home Shield. End-to-end, the process was a flipping nightmare. I filed my first claim on April 6. AHS sent MIS Appliance and their guy said the problem was the control board. He said they have to order one and when it comes, they'll come and fix it. They called me two and half weeks later and said they got the part and they'll be at my home right away. The guy came with a part that is not the control board, he then took the whole stove apart and said it's broken and they can't fix it. Before I only did not have a range, but after he left I didn't have a stove top or an oven. He said he'll tell AHS it's dead and will get it replaced.

The next day, I got an e-mail from AHS that said, "We've opened a new ticket for you". Why did they do that? I don't need another repairman. The guy said it was dead, right? So I called and I spoke to somebody and she said, "Oh, no! They said that it's beyond their ability to repair." The repairman just told me it was plain dead. So the second repair guy came in, didn't take anything apart, only looked at it and said, "Yup, it's the control board. We're gonna order the part. It will be here in a couple of weeks. I'll call you when it's ready."

Three weeks went by and the part finally came. They came back and replaced it but it's still dead. They still can't fix it. So it took them from the beginning of April until a week ago to say it really is dead. I am trying to feed my family of four with a crockpot, a microwave, and a toaster oven because AHS did not handle the problem properly and it's incredibly expensive out-of-pocket. After many days of calling and exchanging e-mails with AHS, I finally got somebody who called me and said, "We're gonna replace your stove."

This problem has been a royal pain in the neck and not being able to get a straight answer out of everybody, apparently the first company that said it's beyond their capabilities. If they're like that, then why MIS Appliance is in business? If they can't fix a stove and they don't want to admit that it's dead because I assume they get graded by AHS on how many appliances they declare dead, I'm the one who gets cooked. In the meantime, I have AHS telling me that I owe them another $75 for the second repair guy who came when the first guy couldn't get it right in the first place. My only consolation was their quick action about replacing the stove. It took them only a few days to have it delivered and installed. They took the old stove outside my house as I was told they would.

I should've checked beforehand, but our new home came with 1 year free warranty from A.H.S. So I decided better safe than sorry so opted to continue the warranty after 1 year ended. So, $75 per tech visit + $600 deductible per ANYTHING needing fixed. Sucks, however in the event something major needs fixing it might be a good thing to have on hand. But even so, the fine print ruins my hopes of having coverage with AHS. Most every plumbing issue, which is our major problem right now, is NOT covered under their warranty. In fact, almost everything that's gone wrong thus far here I've just gone and fixed myself to avoid spending the $675.

The builder of our home left wet concrete in the sewer line while pouring the bathroom shower downstairs. Which just so happens to be where EVERYTHING plumbing related in the house connects into and runs out to the street. But AHS states that it doesn't fall under their Plumbing/BLOCKAGE coverage??? And most estimates I've found were as high as $2-10,000.00. Not very happy at all.

They do not consider it an "emergency" because I am able to shut off the water and do not have an active leak. Further, it takes 24 hours to escalate to a supervisor and the "retention" department for accounts is not open on weekends. As a consumer, I am stuck to wait 4 days because I mentioned I could shut off my water. False advertising.

They were nice enough but didn’t give the information that I needed. They assumed that I knew and I didn’t know what information to ask for because I’ve never done this before. I looked for the contract and was told that I would be offered the option, but not until I asked. Before, we’ve had appliances that they'd just work on and fix. We never had to have one replaced.

I was on hold and transferred to four different members to get to the right person one day. I was on hold for 40 minutes, waiting to talk to someone. AHS is a good company. We’ve dealt with them before when my husband and I used to live in a Baptist orphanage wherein we had to have walk-in freezers with all the kids and the mouths that we fed. I was not involved with it but we got those freezers right away and they came and put them in. The repairman came the next day. He checked the refrigerator which has a Freon leak. It is so old that the parts and the type of Freon that it has, they don't use any more. So he said it would just have to be replaced. He told us that they would get back in touch with us in 48 hours but never did until I called them after a week. And then, I have to go through five different sets of being put on hold until I got to the right person which was a little frustrating.

It has been a little over two weeks now that we have not had a working refrigerator. They called Monday last week and gave me a model number, the cost of it with the tax and delivery and the one-year warranty. I have not been able to find any place in Texas that carries this type of GE refrigerator so that I could go and look at it. They didn’t tell me that if we wanted to purchase our own, we would have to do it.

So, I finally called them back yesterday because I’ve not heard anything else. I was told that we would be given the option of taking the refrigerator that I have found that’s comparable to the one that we have or that we could find the one that we want. And she said, “Yes. That’s what you were told.” And I said, “No, it wasn’t. I was just given the model number and it was a GE and how much it costs and that you would pay for tax and delivery and had a one-year warranty. But nobody told me that we had an option that we could purchase our own until I called back yesterday.” She said, “Well, when we gave you that model number, that’s what you were supposed to do. You can either take that or you can pick your own.” I said, “But nobody told me that. How was I supposed to know that?”

After two weeks, I just found out yesterday that we can purchase our own and we have to send the copy of the receipt paid in full, has to have a one-year warranty, a FAX number, to American Home Shield. Now, I can’t cook because all of my frozen food is being stored at my brother’s house. So, I don’t have anything in the freezer or in the refrigerator that I can cook. So I have not been satisfied at all.

I've only had one claim with American Home Shield when I was having problems with my dishwasher. We have a little lime in our water and it so happened that lime went inside the holes in the washer, so it wasn't washing the dishes because the water wasn't coming through. The contractor cleaned it out and told me it was a different kind of dishwasher that we use. He was very friendly and gave some advice about what to do. He said it was better that we kept it clean, but the thing with it is it will clog back up again because we have that lime in our water.

Everything went fine submitting the claim. The contractor who came out was very helpful, did a great job, moved it right along, and wound up replacing it with a brand new pump which is now running fine.

I recently submitted a claim with American Home Shield for my hot water heater and it was very easy. They were out here for another issue and that’s when it was discovered. I went on the website, submitted the claim and followed it up with a phone call. The lady I spoke to was very friendly and knowledgeable. She knows the end of the call center. For the equipment, I can’t expect her to know all that stuff, but she knew who to contact and made sure I was taken care of. She told me who they would be sending out, so I called them up. They sent somebody that day to take a look at what needed to be done, and then the following day, they were out and they replaced my hot water heater.

AHS is the best thing that someone has ever recommended to me. When I first bought a house in 2005 here in Georgia, part of the sales contract was that my saleslady made sure that she put in the requirements, so they had to pay AHS for a year. And within four months of buying the house, I had to submit a claim. It was taken care of and paid for. After that, I tell everyone I knew who was buying a house to make sure to have a home warranty. If they don’t go with American Home Shield, at least make sure they get one because that’s the best thing they could ever do if they own a house. I am happy with American Home Shield. The prices have gotten a little high, but that’s the nature of the business. As time goes on, things are going to cost more. AHS has taken care of me. They’ve done a good job. In fact, it's the best peace of mind I’ve ever invested in.

5/19 called at 8pm about plumbing problems. No plumber, no follow up call from AHS. No serviceable toilet. 5/20 called in the morning. AHS apparently failed to get a vendor to come out and failed to notify me. No serviceable toilet. 5/20 called AHS yet again. Apparently not a single plumber was available to come out; this is a metro area of several hundred thousand people. Not a single plumber available? During this gem of a phone call I got hung up on/disconnected after being on hold for about 12 minutes.

5/20 called AHS; who now graciously agreed to authorize an outside vendor provided I didn't use one from their Forbidden List of Plumbers. Oddly enough, many of the names on the Forbidden List of Vendors are nationally known chains and have great reviews. So now I am spending the evening doing the work of my home warranty company... and still have no functioning toilet. Short version - American Home Shield is failing to provide me any meaningful service.

However, they didn’t have a fan built specifically for that so they modified whatever they had in their van and hooked it up and it works. They did a good job and were in and out within a couple of hours. They were very good and friendly. But the fan they put in makes more noise than the other one did. And even though it was not the proper one, it works. It may be a little noisy but it’s tolerable.

I recently called American Home Shield (AHS) for the first time with a service request regarding a problem with my home air conditioner. When the contractor (from Metro Air - Atlanta, GA area) came to my home, I had explained to him that I had just added refrigerant into my unit a week prior, and it was something I had done at the beginning of every summer for the past few years. Unfortunately this time the refrigerant had leaked out within 2-3 days and began blowing warm air again. Therefore, I explained to him that there must be a leak and that I had spoken to a couple of HVAC repair guys that I knew and they suggested that we probably needed to replace the coils and/or the condenser.

He then apparently used some type of "dye" to identify the leak, but after about 45 minutes later he proceeded to tell me that he could not find the leak and it probably just needed refrigerant (which of course AHS no longer wants to pay for, and did not let us know this until we filed the claim). I stated that there was no way that I had just spent almost $400 a couple of weeks ago adding refrigerant and would spend more money to add more refrigerant when it was just going to leak back out again.

He stated that he understood, and I thought that he was actually a pretty nice guy, but apparently he went back to his office and reported to his superiors at Metro Air that I "refused to have my unit repaired" by not agreeing to add and pay for more refrigerant. Which of course was not the whole story, and in turn, they reported the same untrue statement to AHS. In addition, he also told me that his office would contact AHS that afternoon and that someone would call me the next day (a Tuesday, as he was at my home on a Monday).

Tuesday came and went and there was no call from anyone. On Wednesday, I called the Metro Air contractors office to get an update as to what was going on. No one answered my first call, so I hung up and called AHS. When I spoke to AHS, they told me that they had not heard from Metro Air (keep in mind that the weather on these particular days in Atlanta was high 80's/low 90's). :-(

As a result, I called Metro Air back and spoke to a guy named Troy. When I asked "Troy" (I will refrain from using his last name which I do have), why hadn't they called AHS on that Monday as I was told, he gave me a very rude and nasty response "We've been too busy," and his overall tone was nasty and extremely disrespectful! Of course that set me off, and I will definitely admit that I proceeded to rip into him, sort of speak. After hanging up on that moron, I then called AHS back and told them that I wanted to report Metro Air and "Troy", and I that could not understand how they could have a contractor that treated their customers like this. I also requested that they send out another contractor and that I didn't want anyone from Metro Air in my home ever again.

They actually sent a new contractor out the very next day; Air Design AC & Heating. I explained the same situation to the service technician from Air Design regarding me just having paid almost $400 for refrigerant and this guy was sincerely sympathetic and totally understood. More importantly within 20 minutes he not only found the leak, but also showed me exactly where it was (actually let me hear it from a tool he was using), and needless to say he told me that the coil needed to be replaced. Exactly what I told the first guy from Metro Air! Please keep in mind that at this point it's about a 8-9 days now without AC in 80/90 degree weather. He also stated to me before he left the same thing as the first guy - that he would report back to his office, they would contact AHS, and someone from AHS would contact me the next day.

Well I actually heard from AHS the next day via a voicemail message from them informing me that I would have to pay over $600 out-of-pocket to repair my AC and that over $400 of that amount was for refrigerant alone! Of course, I was extremely upset and called them right away, as I am trying to understand how I have been paying them monthly for years for a warranty repair/replacement service, but when I finally use them, it costs me over $700 (including the initial visit fee) on top of the monthly premiums I have been paying for years.

When I spoke to the AHS customer service representative she really didn't have an explanation other than stating the policy that "AHS no longer covers the full amount for refrigerant." I then proceeded to ask her what was the total amount of my repair (to determine how much AHS was actually paying vs. my out-of-pocket amount). She told me that she could not share that information with me and that this was between AHS and their contractors. Are you kidding me??? Obviously at this point I am really feeling scammed, as I can only assume I am paying more for this repair than AHS. :-(

Anyway, as a result of this experience, I will go ahead and get my AC repaired. But once repaired, I will drop AHS and find a more fair and honest competitor home warranty service. In addition, I will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Of course I am writing this review here, I will also write the AHS CEO, Mark Barry (even though I don't expect a response) and most importantly, I will tell all my neighbors, friend's, family members, business colleagues, and pretty much "everyone" I know not to ever use AHS, as I really convinced that they are just ripping people off!

Finally to AHS; as I know you have someone read these reviews, please don't send me one of those canned responses/comments that you usually do in this forum, like: "Hello Joe, I am sorry to hear about this situation. I value your feedback and the chance resolve any issues that you may have." I have read several of these you posted (like people are stupid and won't know these are canned/scripted responses since most of them are very similar). If you want to resolve my issue, send me all my monthly premium payments back from the past few years so I can use that to get my AC fixed or simply provide what I paid you for all these years!!!

I submitted a claim for a combination microwave conduction oven. The microwave still works but the convection oven had apparently an extremely unusual problem. Wolf said that in all of these units that they had sold, we were the third complaint of this nature and they had to find the guy who had handled the first two to figure out how to fix it. We had one contractor come out and tell us that it couldn’t be fixed. Then, we had another contractor come out and order a new part after a new part after a new part saying that it would fix the problem but it didn't. Finally, he threw up his hands and said it was fixed and that we weren't using it right.

American Home Shield was responsive to our stories about the contractors they sent out. They found Mario and he sat on the kitchen floor on the phone with Wolf and within 10 minutes had the problem diagnosed. He did have to order a part and during the process, he kept in contact with us and let us know how things were going, which in my experience and at the risk of sounding completely sexist, is very rare for men to do. It might be that they take care of everything very well, but they're not big on keeping you in the loop.

I'm more used to having to chase men down and say "hey, what's going on". With Mario, he let us know when the part was ordered. Then he called us back and told us that there had been a delay with Wolf. He kept after them until he got the part. When we found out that he was coming to fix the microwave convection, we were absolutely overjoyed. He is head and shoulders above anybody in any house I've ever owned who’s ever come out to fix things. With the first guy, American Home Shield paid for parts that never fixed anything as well as paying this guy for each one of his trips. He didn't go into it with the intent to steal, but he was incompetent and he thought that if he eventually replaced every part on the stove it would someday work and it wasn’t that at all. It was the programming error that he himself created when he shut down. It was incompetence run amuck. I went through a Christmas and a Thanksgiving with no oven.

Then I found out that the last guy who was out here countermanded what I had said and said "oh no, I've been back. It was fixed." American Home Shield thought that they really had not heard the last word from me. He did that because he wanted to keep American Home Shield’s business and I'm sure there are things the guy can fix, but on the other hand he was so over his head with this and he never once made a phone call. He never once pulled out a manual more so travels with like this little portable library and its track of manuals for different manufacturers.

Mario didn’t make up a bunch of stuff. We live in a community and we have a newsletter. We put him out there as absolutely reliable, trustworthy, the best we've ever interacted with. He’s a price. AHS should be aware that they have gotten magic in their possession with him. He’s wonderful with customers and his work is superlative. He’s incredibly intelligent and astute, knows his stuff and how to cut through problems. He gets the back number for every company so he can talk to somebody immediately who will know rather than going through loop after loop after loop.

I had a situation with my air conditioner and did a routine check-up on it which the SRP sponsors. Then I had a technician come out that was not with my homeowner’s policy, it was independent. He told me that my freeze-on was a little low. So, I had American Home Shield come out and I had a good experience with the contractor. He said, “No, your freeze-on’s okay.” The guy that was here did a good job and charged me $100 for not doing anything but I was happy to pay him.

I gave him my credit card number which was a big mistake. The next day, that number was used fraudulently for two purchases. American Express called me and immediately I had them put a stop on it. I called American Home Shield and told them. I also called the company which is what American Express told me to do, and called the contractor that was there and let the office know. His office didn’t want to take any responsibility and that was a bad experience for me. It took a while to straighten out my credit card number being used but thank goodness American Express handled that for me.

My problem with them is that their contractors are not always reputable and I’ve had horrible luck with the ones that they send. One was a crook that came out to look at my garage door opener. Also, their customer service department is horrible to get through. I'd call them and I've been put on hold for 25 minutes at times. They need to work on those two things. However, when I did the service call, the claims representative was very courteous and nice, and I’m not having issues with the air conditioning. It's been a good, bad and ugly experience.

Beware of this. We have been paying American Home Shield for a warranty. Our AC unit went out and they sent an associate from a local AC company to review. He said that the unit was no longer working but he blamed a wire that was loose. I explained to him this had nothing to do with the unit no longer working... the entire AC unit needed replacement. They basically look for any reason to deny a claim.

I will be contacting the BBB and filing complaints with them as well submitting my reviews of this company throughout the internet. The technician and the representative from the company were extremely rude and dismissive from the start of this process so please don't expect much from this outfit. I assume they are in the business of denying claims just like any other insurance company.

I am so very disappointed in their response. I do not want a new oven, but they will not send the 173.00 so I can find a glass company to come out and cut the glass. In purchasing our home (a foreclosure through Freddie Mac HomeSteps) we were given a $500 credit towards a $560 home warranty through AHS. Knowing the bank/owner wouldn't pay for any repairs prior to closing, this was a great deal. As a requirement of our mortgage and contract with HomeSteps, we had a home inspection prior to closing. We called AHS regarding a corroded pipe (repaired with duct tape), a leaking water pipe (NOT on the home inspection - also there are mismatched pipe materials - should be covered), and a running toilet. The plumber advised that at least the leaking pipe should be covered.

ALL SERVICES WERE DENIED as pre-existing. I called to understand this as no responsible homeowner will buy a house without an inspection and it's a requirement for a mortgage. I was told that if the damage was visible or identified on the inspection, they were considered pre-existing and that there is no appeals process, that I could get a second opinion and if they still agreed, I'd have to pay the $100 service charge a second time. I have read the contract and it states it would cover repairs found in the inspection if the repairs were performed prior to the contract effective date to AHS standards (so you'll reimburse me for repairs done before I'm covered??? But the bank would not repair anything, so this is an impossible statement).

I believe this warranty is a scam, that nothing is truly covered under warranty when you buy a foreclosure, and that AHS has no interest in doing right by the customer. I have reported this complaint to the Better Business Bureau and to my local news. I am highly dissatisfied with the coverage and the level of customer service being provided.

But they were nice and they explained what was going on.

The first contractor who came did everything I expected, although I'm still working with the second one to get my ceiling fixed. His hours are not flexible and our schedules do not match. He said "I only basically work in the mornings." and he wants me to take off work in the morning. But my wife has off during the day occasionally so it's going to work out one of these days, I just don't know when. So I told them that I didn’t want them to dispatch someone to come out and that I would make some calls on my own. But five minutes later, I got a phone call from someone saying they had been dispatched by Home Shield. They came out and I paid the bill and there was no submission of any claim. The garage door was fixed, but we had to pay for everything. This is the third time now that has happened to us so we're reconsidering whether we’re renewing or not. My point is the three times that we've called, nothing has been covered so I'm not sure what we're paying for.

Been a customer for almost a year, my air conditioner recently broke and the claim is resulting in over $1200 in non-covered incidental expenses to me - refrigerant and duct work not covered (mostly because they are fixing a 26-year-old AC/heater that uses a very expensive refrigerant instead of replacing it with a new one, and if something similar happens again w/ the old unit I could have to pay this again according to the policy/contract). Beware if you think the home warranty will protect you from all expenses when something major goes wrong.

At this point I'm having to do the arduous task of getting quotes for paying for a replacement unit vs. the $1200 fix, when I thought I'd never have worry about this again once I got the home warranty. Very disappointed. They are fine for small repairs that barely exceed the deductible amount though - used them once for a plumbing leak and they came and fixed (of course a regular plumber on my own may not have cost much more).

I'm normally on hold for only a minute until somebody picks up. Their representatives have always been friendly and helpful answering all my questions.

The contractor that came out for my heating unit had to come back a few times but it wasn't really their fault, first with replacing parts and then being that it was an older unit, there was a couple of parts that failed after they had replaced those parts. They were really prompt and I didn't have any problem getting hold of them. They understood how important it was to my family to have heat on for the winter and did everything they could to get it rectified as soon as possible. After a couple of trips out, one of which was on a Saturday evening, they ended up replacing the unit. It's been six months since the unit was replaced and it worked great all through the winter.

I have had AHS since 2009. Dealing with them has never been a picnic, but for what you get for the cost I thought it was a good deal. The first few years I lived in my condo, I had to call AHS at least once. The first year I got charged multiple times within 60 days for the same issue. I asked to have this looked into, and I never heard anything back nor did I receive credit. Time was more important, so I let it go. Other issues have been dealt with have been ok, but not great.

Fast forward to today. I have tried calling AHS at least 5 times in the past 14 hours due to a broken AC unit. Each time the recording has started it would take over 10 minutes to speak to a person. I submitted a claim via the horrible automated system (let me press numbers instead of talking). I haven't done this before, but I thought it would ask if this was a call that needed quick attention. I received a call the next day informing me no one could come to my condo until Monday.

So, I called AHS yet again, and this time waited the 10+ minutes to talk to a person. We talked for maybe 2 minutes. 45 minutes later, I hear nothing. The woman said I would hear silence and then music. The music never came. This has happened to me before and the phone call was actually dropped. I didn't want to hang up hope and the call, so I let it keep going. I opened a chat at about 38 minutes on hold (at least this is what I was hoping), and waited at least 10 minutes to chat with someone online. At 47 minutes, the woman finally came back on the line to tell me she was trying to find a company to come to my home.

I would also like to add that this is at least the 5th time they have been out to fix this unit. At the third time, the company that came out suggested it be replaced instead of fixed and would only cost $800 more. AHS policy is to fix if it can be fixed. They have now spent more than $800 fixing the same unit. We each could have saved money at this point.

After an hour on the phone, the woman couldn't help because the chat woman (that I was able to contact sooner) transferred it to the dispatch department. Unfortunately, I used two routes to get a problem fixed and shouldn't have. This was my mistake. I didn't fully understand that the chat woman's work would stop the woman on the phone from helping me. Again, this was my mistake. They are supposed to contact me once a company has been found. There is no time frame or any other option. Since they only contract with a certain amount of companies, it is difficult to find companies that fill requests that need to be completed the same day. So part of this review is offer advice. If you do need service help just wait on hold on the phone because that woman was actually calling companies for me instead of just transferring it along like the woman on the chat. DO NOT USE THE CHAT FUNCTION!

What's the point of having AHS insurance if it is of no use. I should've fixed it myself and would've saved some money. Jennifer from customer service received our phone call after 40 minutes and simply ignored us saying we are not responsible! Transferred to customer service but nobody picked up the phone for almost an hour. Please give yourself a favor and stay away from AHS. Save some money and headache. Pay $75 bucks for each visit for nothing. Worst company ever. Stay away.

I recently submitted a claim to AHS due to a sump pump battery issue and it was very simple. I went online and submitted the claim. Somebody called me and the issue got taken care of. For the most part, all of the contractors I dealt with have been easy to deal with. Also, every claim that we've filed has been very simple so I'm happy with American Home Shield.

On 2/24/16 I made a request that two of the igniters on my stove weren't working. Not a big deal and since I have AHS, let's get it fixed, after all it's under warranty. First guy comes to fix it, just takes a look. Says he needs some new parts and that my stove wouldn't work for 6-8 weeks while they have to rebuild the igniters. A week or so later, they come back to my house to take out the parts, and send them off to be rebuilt. Parts come back in a few weeks, they install most of them and now all 4 igniters do not work. We are worse than we started. Then a few days later we are told the stove will need to be replaced. The only stove that we could use to replace my existing was an upcharge. Then they come to deliver the old stove and the installer doesn't show up. Then the installer shows up a week later, tells me he is going to charge me $60 to cut off a 1" piece of wood so that the new stove will fit. Then he doesn't install a major part of the stove.

AHS is telling me I am responsible for some additional installation that they will not cover and I need to coordinate everything. They won't even give me a recommendation of who to use. Needless to say this whole situation is extremely unfortunate. I have spent hours on the phone with AHS only for them to ultimately "deny" my claim. If I could go back in time and never call them to fix the insignificant issue I started with, I absolutely would. We don't love our new range, the old one was better, and now I am going to be all in $500+ and 20-30 hours of my time to get everything working appropriately. It just seems like AHS doesn't care and they do not have any interest in making the situation right.

My dishwasher broke 3 weeks ago and is still not repaired or replaced. I have been told the part was not available the first week. The next week I was told the part is available and was ordered. The following week I was told "sorry, the part should have been ordered but was not." This week I am told the part was only available in black and my dishwasher is white and it will take another 7-14 days to order that part if I want it. At no time did anyone from AHS contact me to advise me of any of these updates.

I have had to call for status and had to wait on hold for endless amounts of time (at least 30 minutes each time) before anyone would answer. Obviously, I don't want a black control panel on a white dishwasher, especially since every other appliance in my kitchen is white. I have been asking for someone in management to contact me but have not heard from anyone. Bottom line, they should replace my dishwasher since they cannot locate the appropriate part to fix it. However, that option was not offered to me. This is by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had, and I do not recommend American Home Shield to anyone.

American Home Shield called about my proposed cooktop repair. They informed me that Premier Appliance Service said that some water got into the electronics and caused the malfunction and that is not considered a problem caused by wear and tear so they will not repair the cooktop. It seems that I am being accused of purposefully sabotaging my cooktop or that the company is finding a reason to deny repairing my appliance. When one cooks, there is condensation and naturally water collection on the appliance. The appliance was only 2 years old. I am very disappointed that American Home Shield will take my monthly payments under false pretenses to fix my malfunctioning appliances then refuse to live up to their responsibilities. I am very disappointed in this company.

American Shield (AS) assigned a pool company (Artisans Pool Service) for a pool heater repair. After numerous unanswered calls to the pool company the technician finally arrived with 5 minutes warning. After a few minutes he said he could not diagnose the heater as there were two burners that were tipped down and that he was unable to reset them. He called AS and said the unit was not accessible before talking to me. When I spoke with him I told him I would level the burners off once the heater cooled and he agreed that he would return to do the diagnostic (once leveled). I then left a series of messages with him telling him that the burners were level and asked when he would return. I have never heard from him since.

On contacting AS including numerous transfers to various supervisors AS indicated that they could not do anything. I suggested that they send another contractor and although Columbia SC is the capital of South Carolina with an area population over 500,000 people AS told me that this contractor is their only pool contractor for the whole area. Now to add insult to injury they say I owe them $100 for this nonperformance. Not sure what recourse I have at this time.

AC has required repair 4 times since August. I too needed my AC fixed. I am waiting now for a return call to cancel my contract with this company. I called. Spoke with someone who sent out Kane Heating and Air in Killeen Texas. Kane Heating and Air made things worse! Two days later on a Saturday the unit stopped again. I called. They put in an order so the same people then have 24 hours from the time they open on Monday to call us. They can't come till Wednesday to even look at the unit. Should the unit need parts God only knows how long this could be. In the meantime my son and husband are asthmatic - the pollen is out of control. Levels are dangerously high and we are forced to open windows to cool the house. My husband is a disabled Vet so it's very important to me to keep him healthy!

When I called after work to let AHS know about the problem and see if they could help they only tried to discourage me from waiting for Kane Heating by stating that this would cost me another 75 dollars and the wait time will start all over. Oh and by the way the AC is blowing circuits in the house. The unit remains live or (hot). Not safe at all!!! Thanks for sending the worst AC people possible. They didn't clean the unit, inform me about the ants that were in there, or anything! I paid for more freon and would have gladly paid to have it cleaned had I known it was dirty. I found that when working on the yard.

Oh and thanks so much for showing your care about my family's health!!! Sad just sad. Called again today. Told them I had to take my son to urgent care for breathing issues. Asked for a manager to call me and yet again no call. Someone is supposed to come in the AM. I have been a customer with more than one house cover by see people for 17 years. I deserve better!!!

American Home Shield contracted with an appliance repair company that informed me that my dishwasher was not broken. I showed the repairman the dirty dishes and he continued to say that there was nothing wrong. I called again and American Home Shield sent the repairman back out free of charge and he once again told me that nothing was wrong with the dishwasher. I have to hand wash all my dishes because after switching to a top cleaner, pre-washing my dishes, using the sanitizer button, and using the special dishwasher cleaner, my dishes are still filthy.

I called American Home Shield again to complain. They were supposed to have the manager of the company come out to check it and I never heard from the company again. Now, after making a 4th phone which now happens to be out of the 60 day period from the original service call they want me to pay the $75.00 service charge AGAIN. I think that the company should waive the service fee. I asked to speak to the manager and she said no. She told me there was no one else that I could speak to about this issue. I don't feel like I should have to keep making phone calls and spending money to have nothing done.

Worst company I dealt with ever. I took the most expensive home warranty from them and when my microwave broke down, it's a waiting game. Their contractor, Major Service Appliances (MSA) sent someone to diagnose the problem. It cost me 75 out-of-pocket and after that, it's just a waiting game. I call AHS pretty much daily for status and so far I have just been given misleading information. Their status went backwards from 'received the diagnosis' and 'it's in authorization dept' to 'haven't heard from our contractor'. It took more than 2 weeks to send in diagnosis. I have been 3 weeks into a broken microwave. Never got any definitive timelines about when the diagnosis would come in, when the authorization would go through, etc. I got this insurance from my realtor and would check if there is a way for me to cancel it.

My freezer on my Sub-Zero has been giving me problems for the last couple of years. Each time I call AHS they bring in an appliance company who will fill it up with Freon. Each company tells me I have a leak. Then about 6 months to a year I have the same problem again. This time when my freezer stopped working, I decided to call my own appliance company to have the problem diagnosed. The first company which is a very reputable company in our area called Caesar's Appliance (have been in business in our area for over 40 years). The technician came and said that the freezer has a sealed system failure. The technician also told me that they can diagnose but do not repair sealed system failure. In order to get a second opinion, I called Avalon Repair which specializes in Sub-Zero.

The technician came right away and confirmed that I have sealed system failure... that I have a leak in the system which is why I have to keep putting more Freon and that it is toxic for the insurance company to keep putting Freon in as if there is a leak... with heat from cooking it can lead to cancer over a course of time. The technician gave us specifics... evaporator coils, compressor, heat exchanger for freezer at the very least to repair it if repair was possible. He stated that locating leaks was also difficult depending on where it is. So I called AHS and they tried to send out California Appliance Repair. I told them that several years ago the technician (owner) was very verbally abusive and threatened me. The technician (owner) had no clue what he was doing and when you questioned him on what he was doing he started screaming and swearing. He also slammed his equipment down and started waving his hand in front of my face.

Upon renewal they promised me that they would note my account that they will never send out California Appliance Repair and asked me not to switch over to another company. I had to call 3 times for them to finally send out All Brands Appliance Repair. The technician came out on Friday 5/6/16. He looked at the system and confirmed that the freezer had a sealed system failure and everything including compressor needed to be replaced. He informed me that most likely AHS will most likely have to replace it or they will have to authorize the repair which will be a couple of thousands of $$ at the very least. He also stated that all AHS would pay him for this huge repair was $185. He said that he would call AHS on Saturday and let them know it needs a major repair that will be very costly or that it will need to be replaced.

On Monday, I called AHS to see what the status on my sub-zero was. I spoke with Yolanda in the am. Yolanda informed me that they were sending California Appliance repair. I reminded her AGAIN that I am not going to have a company who was verbally abusive come into my house. So Yolanda told me that they will find another company to come out and that they will give me a call in a few hours. It is now 5:14 PM and I just called AHS again. I spoke with Brittany and she told me that they are still looking. What I don't understand is I have 3 work order invoices – one from a company AHS sent out, stating that my freezer has a sealed system failure and have to find the leak and all the compressor etc. needs to be replaced. Yet here I am another day with ABSOLUTELY NO DIRECTION AS TO HOW AND WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO REPAIR IT or if they are going to replace it. They keep giving me the run around.

Each time I call I have to hold for 15 minutes. When I ask to speak to a supervisor they tell me that one will call me in 24 hours. Last time I asked for a supervisor to call about my freezer almost a year ago... the supervisor called about 3 weeks later!! I need my Sub-Zero repaired properly so that the leaking Freon is not in the air making our home toxic environment. They either need to repair it or replace it but they cannot keep giving me the run around to prolong the process. I am hoping that someone who reads this from AHS can assist me to resolve this. I have NO FREEZER!! I hope they do not scratch my review off conveniently "unverified". Seems like they do that many dissatisfied reviews. I am hoping that AHS will step up to the plate and honor what they say they do. I am hoping that my case just happened to fall through the cracks and that this is not how they do business.

UPDATED ON 06/01/2016: On May 5th AHS sent out All Brand Appliance Repair. They diagnosed my sub zero to have a sealed system leak which would cost $2000 - $3000 to repair. Since then AHS has not made any attempt to communicate with me. All communications have been one way... me calling them for an update. They always promise to call or escalate it to a supervisor and yet not once have they followed through.

I finally called them about 17 days ago and they authorized for me to outsource the repair. The appliance company who is going to do the repair called them the following morning, gave them all the information and his license information and had authorized. They informed him that they would order the parts and ship it directly to me and that at the latest I would have it by May 26th. It is now May 31st and I don't have any parts, no phone calls from AHS updating me, and a freezer that doesn't work. I wrote a complaint here on May 9th but soon after they tagged it with FACT UNCERTAIN. Seems like any posts that is inconvenient is tagged FACT UNCERTAIN. They also claimed to want to help resolve my problem but such has not been the case.
