    I had a burst pipe on my kids' wall and the service wasn't the greatest. I was told to schedule an AM or PM appointment and I said PM, and when I was about 5 miles outside of work about 30 minutes before 9:00, the contractor called and said they were on their way. So, I had to waste a whole day at work. I got home and the kid rolled up, and I showed him where the leak was. After he got authorization from American Home Shield, he cut into the drywall and found the leak. He turned off the water and had to get more authorization for something else. But he got everything done and was in and out in about three hours. I'm just waiting on the drywall repair because it had to stay open for 7 to 10 days. It's been a positive experience with AHS. People should get it. It was worth the time and money.

    You call in a problem to American Home Shield and they get back to you right away. Everybody they’ve sent has been very competent and professional. I had a very good experience with the contractor for the refrigerator when it wasn't cooling. You hope that with AHS, you at least get your premium as repairs occur.

    Getting hold of American Home Shield was not that difficult and I'm very happy about that. The rep told us the contractor that was assigned and the tech called to schedule. He was good with keeping the place clean. He put a blanket before he took out the microwave and said if he couldn’t fix it, he would have to order a part. Then he put everything in place and left. The tech replaced a part and after that, the microwave was still acting up. Out of 100 times that I tried, it worked two times. The rest of the time, it was a similar problem as the last time. There was power but the microwave didn’t start. We had an earlier claim with American Home Shield, wherein if I call them, the vendors typically ask us to open a case again. So, I just directly called AHS and told them it happened again.

    I used to have American Home Shield back in California where we used to live back in 2007. We had it for one year and it was painful to follow through the process and we just dropped it. Then we moved here and we had rental properties so we said maybe we should have it just in case. The renters were calling us so it doesn't hurt to have it for our home as well. But all in all, I have been contemplating if I should continue this service or not because every time I open a case, it's a minimum $100 cost, plus the wait. I might not continue just because I have to call and wait for five days and not because AHS is not good.

    This microwave is a pain because it's something you need. So, I would have thought that it's a microwave kind of a thing and should be replaced just in case. But AHS did not. I'm sure they have a lot of business reasons to not do so. But it's inconvenient for me as a consumer that now I have to spend another $100. So maybe for $300, I would have gotten a microwave. It's a relative expectation, money versus time but I appreciate that American Home Shield has to run a business, too. If you have the patience to wait, they are great. And the biggest advantage of AHS is whatever is my problem in the house, at least I'll have someone to come and get it fixed. I don't have to scramble to find an electrician. I'll just call American Home Shield and they will find a person and deal with it. And at least I don't have to do the research and worry if I am dealing with the right person or not.

    I called AHS initially because my stove wasn't working and my oven had issues. They sent a repairman out and he repaired my oven. He said the cooktop needed to be replaced and they sent a link with some different choices I had for a cooktop. I chose the cooktop, they delivered it, and they had somebody come out and install it. AHS did a good job and they did it in the time required.

    I had a problem with the other appliance people that AHS sent out to my house. They were horrible. The guy was rude. He walked out of the house. He was telling me something that he couldn't do. I said, "That's not what it says on the contract." And he just left. But American Home Shield made it right. They sent the best company ever. They were nice and very professional. I liked them. The last appliance people they sent were great and the air condition person they sent was great too. What I love about AHS is I feel covered as if my husband was here. I could just pick up the phone and call. I have a one-stop shop where I could just call and say, "This is not working." And I don't have to call around and find people.

    AHS has helped me out a lot. They have good customer service and fast service. They get to you quickly. They always came out and fixed what I needed to be fixed. My hot water tank stopped the heating. The techs knew exactly what I was talking about. They changed four parts of my hot water tank, which was an electric tank, and they fixed it. It was back working again. They did it in 30 minutes. The techs were really clean. They cleaned up after themselves. They were good and very professional. When I told them what was happening, they knew exactly what to do. They went and got the parts, slapped them on and tested everything, and it was done. Everything is good so far. So far, the warranty covers well. As far as the small issues I've had, I haven't paid a dime. I just paid the fee that you have to pay for them to come out, and then no more money was exchanged.

    I've had AHS for three years now. When submitting a claim, the online is much better than the phone calls. You try to call and talk to somebody. It's brutal. It’s very hard to speak to someone to get things done. But the online is good. You can go on there and do that. For the most part, the technicians have been good to come out here. They're hit or miss, though. Some are good. Some are not. But they come out and do a decent job of trying to do the best they can to fix it.

    I don't love always the idea of having to fight to get something fixed rather than a Band-Aid being put on whatever is going wrong. That seems to be an ongoing theme a little bit and that's been my experience with AHS. But our refrigerator was leaking underneath, and the technician came out, determined what the problem was, and was able to fix it.

    My AC unit wasn't working. Going through the claim process of AHS was straightforward. You select the item that you want, and then you put in the comments of what you think is wrong with it and you submit it. I was given the business name and a contact number, and informed that they would call me. Within 24 hours, I received a phone call, a booking appointment with me whenever I was available. The contractor gave me more information I needed from there. The tech was very professional and straightforward. He asked where the unit was, wanted to inspect everything, found what he expected to be broken and said he'd be right back. He grabbed the parts that he needed and came back to my house. Had it fixed within a total of an hour of the service claim time.

    I use the website of AHS all the time. I have two properties. One of the addresses is incorrect, and I couldn't get them to fix it. It's still under my mother's name who passed away. There are a lot of issues with the website. But the overall submitting a claim part is the easy part. But the rest of it and the maintenance of it are not very good. NW Sundance Services came out and worked on some plumbing. They were fantastic. It was on a Sunday. They called me within a couple of hours, which surprised me. Because usually, on Sunday, there's nobody there. They had called right away and they said, "We can come out tomorrow." I've also had them come out before on another property and it's the same thing. They're a wonderful company.

    I had a stuffed-up kitchen sink and they were able to fix it. The rep was able to diagnose it right away. He called from the road on the way here, which was really cool, just to get an idea of what he was coming into. He said, "I think I know what it is." He got here and he was able to unclog the sink. Some food had gotten down into the trap.

    My dryer is making a sound, like a screeching noise. It was like metal hitting metal. I submitted a claim online with AHS. Their website was very user-friendly.     AHS saves me money when I have to do repairs. I like their customer service and how fast the vendors come out when you have an issue. I submitted a claim online for a leak. The plumber called me right away. He came out and fixed the pipe, but he had to put a hole in my drywall. The plumber did a great job. The drywall person did not. I called American Home Shield this morning because I wasn't happy with the quality of the drywall repair. The rep told me to email American Home Shield claims with a picture of the work.     I love American Home Shield’s website. It's nice and easy. You just put your make and model and what's going on. And within 30 minutes, you got a call from the company to set up a schedule. Nathan, the last guy who was here, was fantastic. The last guy who did my fridge was great as well as the guy who did the dryer. The air conditioner sounded like a helicopter was landing on my house and the tech had to rebuild the motor. He was here nice and early at 7:00, Then, he left with the unit that he had to fix.     There was something wrong with my downstairs air conditioning unit. I filed a claim over the phone and the customer service was really great and efficient. They broke everything down to me and what needed to be done. They gave me the number of the contractor and said I don't have to wait for the contractor to call me.     The first AC company that AHS sent didn't do the right job. The technician kept telling me my AC is good. My AC stopped working and I knew it wasn't working properly and the guy looked like he was doing a favor for me. I decided to not pay my affiliation with AHS. I don't wanna pay $70 a month when they send me a company who doesn't know what they're doing. And I don't have the choice to pick an AC company. We need to use the company they have on the system and the system sets up the appointment. When somebody called me about my payment not going through, I said I decided to cancel my membership. I told the rep I had a bad experience with the company who came to my house the first time I used them. They sent me another company who was here four or five days ago. As soon the guy opened my AC, he said I had a problem and he fix it. He's a professional. He ordered the motor and my AC is working perfect right now.

    Submitting claims was very easy and AHS gave me the numbers and names of the contractors. They contacted me and it was real easy for them to set up the appointment. They came and they did their work just fine. The contractors were very friendly. They explained what was going on, what needed to be fixed, and why it needed to be fixed. They just weren't somebody who came in, silently did their work, and said goodbye. I was more impressed with the second service call for the electricity than I was with the first one, even though it was the same company. The second tech was very professional as far as explaining to me what he was doing. I was very impressed with the plumbing service too. The only complaint I have is AHS doesn't have roof coverage, unless you get the Elite plan. It's $799 per year for the Premium plan and if you get the Elite plan, it's almost $1,000 more. It's a big jump.

    Most recently, I had some issues with my doorbell and it was a fairly quick turnaround time. I appreciate the timely response. 1 Call Contractors came out but they could not fix the entire issue because it is a smart device associated with it. They helped as much as they could and they fixed what they could. I would recommend AHS. It’s a great policy and a great service to have in times of need. The price has slightly increased, but that's with the economy.

    The only thing that I thought was odd with American Home Shield is sometimes they would have people coming from further away. When I have a problem I wanna fix right away and they get somebody from further out than where I live, that could be a little bit of an issue. Also, for the hot water tank claim, the first tech who came out told me he didn't think American Home Shield would cover it because I don't have a pressure regulator and they're funny about that. I asked for a second opinion and I had to pay another $100, which I was not happy with. Another guy came and it was the same thing and they denied my claim. That was a little bit upsetting. I had to pay to have a pressure regulator and I had to pay to put the new hot water tank in. That cost me well over $1,000. I thought that was kind of a cop-out.

    I had a washing machine that was here at the house when I purchased it and it started to act up. We had a virtual appointment where they looked at the washing machine and they could see everything on it. Then, they sent someone out with a part, but that didn't fix the washing machine. They sent someone out with another part and that didn't fix it so American Home Shield replaced it. I had choices online to choose one that they felt was similar but I felt they were not as good. And they gave me a maximum of $500. If I wanted to go buy one, it wasn't one of the ones that they were offering me. They gave me a gift card to Lowe's and I went to Lowe's. I picked one out and it cost me $100 on top of the gift card. Recently, I had to have my furnace fixed and they had it fixed within five days. I had a technician come in and he looked at it. He came out with the part and took care of it real quick.

    A plumber got out to us the next day and had our water heater replaced that afternoon. So, all in all, that was a good experience. Brian, the tech, was professional. His assistant seemed to know what he was doing as well. It was a smooth transaction and a great job all around. For the most part, it's been a pleasant experience with American Home Shield. I like not having to worry when things like the water heater goes out. Otherwise, that'd be a minimum of $1,000 out of pocket. I would like to get a notice when our monthly payment's gonna go up, though. That'd be nice. Our monthly payment just went up without any notice by about 15 bucks. Other than that, we have no complaints.

    We've had a good experience with AHS. I had a claim for my dryer. I had a water leak. I had somebody come out to repair it. A day or two later, I got a message saying they were gonna replace it. And it was replaced. About another four days, I had a new dryer. I just started having my appliances covered, and I'm not physically able to work on stuff anymore. So having the ability to at least not have huge out-of-pocket expenses, is nice. However, I had some trouble finding my customer service number when I needed to contact them about something, but not related to the last claim I had. I had a question and I couldn't find who to contact if they were covered. But I finally got the information.

    I love having AHS because you never know what's gonna happen or what's gonna break down. Also, when you call them, they send someone out right away. They do what they say they're gonna do and I never had a problem with them. My old refrigerator wouldn't seal. They didn't make the parts anymore. I called American Home Shield and they told me they would send someone to come out to take the refrigerator. When they came out, they checked it, and they let me know what was going on. They said they would call American Home Shield and let them know. The techs were very nice. I also didn't have any problem with American Home Shield for getting the money to get a new refrigerator.

    I called AHS recently, and within a day, I had a contractor's information. I called the contractor, got an appointment set up for a few days later.     The claims process with American Home Shield was smooth when our dryer went out. I did everything online. I submitted the claim and they sent a person out who fixed the dryer the next day. American Home Shield worked on our air conditioner, which saved us a lot of money. Working with them has been fairly straightforward and they haven't had any surprises. They've covered everything we've asked them to. The price is a little high but I can understand it. Having this home warranty lowers the cost.     My AC was not cooling so I called American Homs Shield. They sent somebody out to take a look at my AC and answer all my questions. My experience was good but they have to order a whole new unit so I'm waiting. I'm happy about the replacement but it's taking too long to get the unit because it's been about three weeks. American Home Shield is telling me that the unit was ordered and it should be in sometime next week. All in all, American Home Shield is a good home insurance to have. The only thing is every time you call for a problem, you have to pay a $100 co-pay. That doesn't make sense to me. I don't mind paying the monthly fee but we shouldn't do a co-pay. Otherwise, everything else is good.

    I did a claim with American Home Shield and they contracted that work out to Phil's Good. A technician by the name of Barry worked on my air conditing system, changed some parts, and got it going. A day and a half later, the air conditioner started not cooling so I called and they sent Barry back out in half a day. He found out what the situation was, changed a part, and got the air conditioner going. Barry was very cordial and knowledgeable about his work. He was very cognizant of coming in and out of the house from the yard. When he came out of the yard, he would put on the foot coverings coming into the house, just like a technician should do. My experience was really good and positive.

    The only problem that I have with American Home Shield is that they have a person who you're unable to understand what he's saying because he's of another racial descent. Other than that, I don't have any problems with the home warranty. Getting someone out in a timely manner was 100%. I told somebody about four days ago about American Home Shield. I told her that if she didn't have it, she could sure get it. She asked me for the number and I gave her that. I tell folks about the home warranty when I have the opportunity.

    My dishwasher wasn't starting up. Submitting a claim was easy to manage. The contractor was professional and straight to the point. I feel satisfied.     I sent in a claim for the AC. I would reboot the AC unit on the outside and then it would come on. The tech came out and he replaced the part and the unit worked for a month. Then they called him back up and he said it was another little thing that was getting stuck. So now we're good. Prior to this, I had four other air conditioning people come out. One said it needed a compressor. The other one said I needed a new unit. But this last guy said he knew what it was and fixed it. American Home Shield's customer service was pretty good. I paid the $75 the first time but I didn't pay the second time since it was within 30 days. I recommend AHS but the problem is that when you have people that come out, if you don't know somebody that's honest that works for them, that's scary. Just like when they sent three other guys and they didn't know anything else going on.

    I had a leak that I didn't know where it was coming from. Pronto came out and the tech said it probably was the drain in my bathroom shower, but also, there was some water leaking from the turn handles. So, he said because it was leaking there and it was such a small leak, it could be that it was also leaking on the back side of it, like on the other side of the shower. So, he replaced those and the water stopped leaking. We assumed that was what it was because there wasn't a leak. But at the time my husband went in to take a shower, a leak came back again. So, it actually was the drain that is in the bottom of the shower where the water went down. The tech came out yesterday. So, I'm kind of in limbo waiting on American Home Shield to see what's going to be covered. But Pronto was very good and thorough.

    I left American Home Shield in the past because of an air conditioning issue. They wanted me to pay $1,000 for Freon that was obsolete in my 20-year-old AC system that needed to be replaced. So I got mad and left American Home Shield for a couple of years. They offered me a $1,500 discount. But in order to get the discount, I had to go with their vendor who wanted to charge me close to 9,000 for a unit when everyone advertised that I could get one for 6,000. So, I was upset about that experience. I wound up just getting a whole new unit on my own. I looked at going to another home warranty company. But I chose to come back to American Home Shield because of the sump pump.

    The salespeople didn't really explain what was covered and what was not on my plan. When my AC broke, I ended up paying so much out of pocket and American Home Shield only sent me a certain amount of tax reimbursement. I paid a service charge to send someone out twice for no reason. I thought the home warranty would save me but I ended up spending more. There are high charges to get someone out. There are all these coverages that are not covered or all these things that might need repairs that are not covered. I wasn't expecting that.

    For my second experience, I had an issue with my toilet not working. A technician came out and he got it working again. He submitted something to American Home Shield and they let me know it was covered. The technician was able to do everything he needed to fix everything and it was great. That guy was awesome. He gave me an explanation and a quick overview of what was not working.

    I submitted my initial request around 14th July. Then American Home Shield submitted a request for a second opinion around two weeks later. Somewhere in the process, American Home Shield lost the second opinion's estimate, and it took almost a month. They didn't get updates from American Home Shield until Nowell, the primary company that did my work, told me, "Hey, you need to call them and ask them what's going on." At the time, I was scheduled to deploy.

    I called American Home Shield in September, and it took me almost three weeks just to get an answer from them to tell me what was going on. I had to call multiple times for them to give me updates. They would just tell me, "Oh, we're gonna push it to authorizations, or we can escalate it. So I'm just gonna give you a call within 24 hours." But none of that ever happened and I had to call them. They told me that it didn't get submitted, but I know for a fact that it did. So I had to call the second plumbing company to resubmit the estimate they provided. Once that was done, everything started moving forward and the process was pretty smooth.

    The contractors were amazing. The first time they came in, they were straight and told me what I needed to do. They recommended repairing the whole system. So they did that and it got repaired. They were very professional. They constantly gave me updates and reached out to me saying, "Okay, this is what we're missing. This is what we're gonna need. Can you call Home Shield?" Overall, it was a great experience for both the contractors locally, Nowell Plumbing and the second opinion company. Their workmanship was excellent. They communicated with me more than American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield has been amazing and the coverage has been great. It's a good sense of security. Some of my work orders were covered by American Home Shield but I still paid some stuff out of pocket that was not covered, which was fine. When I had a plumbing issue, it cost almost $5,000 to fix but I ended up paying around $2,000 out of pocket because there were some stuff that wasn't covered by American Home Shield. But I would much rather pay $2,000 than $5,000.

    The customer service is pretty good. They try to do the most. But when I call customer service, there's not a number I can call to authorizations. All they say is, "Oh, well, I have to call authorization or email authorizations." If authorizations can tell me from their side what they need me to do, the process would have been so much smoother.

    I gotta look at some of the new things American Home Shield changed. The only thing is they don't have an actual app that you can go on and go through your own policy. They would send me emails of my contract. But for the most part, they did me right. Every time I've called them, they sent people out in a timely manner.

    I had some issues with my central air's heat pump. Most AC, plumbing, or electrical people would charge $125 to $150 just to come out, not including if they got to repair anything. The deductible for AHS is 125, so, I'm winning right there. If I had an issue, I would call AHS, and they would pick who they would send out. Which, for the most part, did good work and the companies had good ratings. They came out and did the work on the house. I wish I could pick my own person. But the bills are a lot more than $125, so I'm saving there. It's warm and fuzzy because they cover all of my appliances, my hot water heater, and they even got different packages I could choose from. I could tailor it to what I want to cover.

    It's a lot easier to submit claims on the phone versus doing it online. I go through many options online, while over the phone, my options are less. The contractors show up on time, and would be here to do the job that they were here to do. All the services that they provide are simple. My most recent claim was for a sink where the faucet part was leaking. My son's most recent service was for his water heater that was not working correctly. It flooded his floors and going through all of that was horrible. He actually researched the company that was coming out to do the plumbing work. Based off of the reviews that he read on the company that was coming out to do the work, it was very poor. He had to use them for the work that needed to be done.

    Of course, the reason why you get these services is so you're not paying so much money out of pocket for the work that you need to have done. He needed to have his hot water heater replaced. But in the interim, because of the fact that the old water heater had actually caused the flooding to the floors, he had to have his floors redone. He originally submitted the request in April and finally had the work done in October because they couldn't put in a new hot water heater until the floors were redone. Finally, the hot water heater got put in, but he had to submit another claim in order for them to come out and put it in.

    My experience with American Home Shield has been not that good. When it comes to replacing things, they would prefer for you to keep spending $75 every month or every other month on the same appliances. They kept wanting me to keep fixing the dishwasher but it was broken. We bought it when we bought this house and it was eight years old. I wanted it replaced instead of paying $75 every two months, which adds up to a brand-new dishwasher. When you tell American Home Shield, "Well, can I go buy my own appliance and then you can reimburse me," it was a whole issue about that. They're like, "No, we have to send a technician out to fix it." We have done this three times already. I just said to forget it and I bought my dishwasher. It cost me $300.

    Another claim I made with American Home Shield was for my AC and techs came in. They had to put something on the air conditioner. When the people bought the house, they didn't put a compressor on the AC. The techs knew it was a compressor or whatever it was that was supposed to be on there and they just left. We ended up having to pay out of pocket to get somebody out here to put a compressor on.

    It's been crazy. But we need the home warranty just in case something big breaks down. American Home Shield said I would have to pay $100 and raised my fee. For the last three years, it always automatically started over. They said that this year, I didn't go in and restart my plan so it went up. We're still debating on whether we are gonna keep American Home Shield or not because I can just put that $75 to $100 up myself a month. And if something breaks down, we come out of pocket for everything anyway.

    I've had a few repair people come out for plumbing issues. The office let me know that the truck was on the way and the guys came in, fixed the issues and cleaned up their little mess. They were friendly. But I was expecting to pay the $100 copay and when I got my receipt, it said $125. I was not aware that American Home Shield had gone up $25. Every time I make calls, it’s always the virus. And that can't be three years later. It doesn’t matter what the scenario or who it is, but every time I ask why, not just American Home Shield, but other companies, that's what I get. People need to stop blaming it on the virus and quit raising prices.

    The yearly rate was 500 when I started with AHS and now, it’s 700. That's a big jump. Before, I could pay the whole payment for the year. But now, because they went up so much, I'm having to make my monthly payments. I haven’t had any problems with AHS other than the pricing. It takes them a while to get anybody out here but they’ve never done me wrong. It's just a couple of little hiccups and I'm happy with them.

    Water was dripping on top of the sink and my bathtub was dripping as well and it was stopped up. American Home Shield told me the name of the company, Patriot Plumbing, and emailed me the information as well. I had to call the contractor twice and the second time, there was no communication. The service guy didn't give a follow-up on what needed to be done because I had to call AHS back out because the drip in my kitchen sink was not fixed. The second guy came and explained what he was doing and what needed to be done. And if that couldn't be done, then they needed to replace the faucet. But it was the cartridge that was the problem and he replaced both of them and it stopped automatically. I recommend AHS all the time. I like the accessibility to having someone come out and fix my appliances. The customer service is great and the monthly premium is not expensive.

    My dishwasher stopped working and there was an issue with my gas stove and the range hood, and all of them were very promptly fixed and resolved. The vendor’s response time exceeded my expectation and the only issue I have would be the parts. The technician ordered a panel for the range hood and it’s not here yet. I called customer care to check if I could get the stove fixed at least and they were more than happy to oblige.

    The online tools and website are handy and nice. But the plan that I chose was a bit of an overkill. I could have gone on with a lesser plan. I'm a first-time homeowner and I wasn't aware of the nuances of all these appliances. There could be more clarity as far as the plans are concerned. So, when I go online, it would help if I knew what the key differences are because I had to call customer care multiple times to get clarity on that. But I'm satisfied with whatever I paid for.     A few years ago, I told American Home Shield’s reps that my dishwasher was not cleaning. So much film built up on the glasses that it would have been embarrassing to serve in them. The plumber ran the dishwasher and it went through the cycle okay. It didn't dissolve the soap and it didn't clean. But he said it was fine. We ended up having to buy our own dishwasher because we got tired of everything coming out dirty. So I resent that. Other than that, the service has mostly been good though not as good as it used to be. We just had someone come out and check a couple of the commodes in our bathrooms and we are not totally happy with the results. My husband and my son had just replaced the insides, and the repair guy took one little hose out that they had put in, and it didn't flush as well after that. And then the handle in the half bath now sticks. You have to always make it go back up.

    My garbage disposal wouldn't come on and I logged in to American Home Shield’s website to submit the claim. I also had a problem with my washing machine and refrigerator but it was a different category for the garbage disposal so I couldn't add it in. I had to pay a separate 125. It was a simple fix. The guy brought his little tool and I asked him what he did. He said the garbage disposal was clogged with food and he used a little wrench under the bottom of it. It is working now. But the washing machine wasn’t covered because mice bit the wire. These particular contractors are okay. I changed to American Home Shield because I had another company that was sending out contractors that weren't good. I was not very pleased with them. My claims weren't covered and I ended up having to get plumbing stuff and I had to do it on my own. I found out they just didn't know what they were doing.

    I chose AHS because I was talking to them. You hear the news and get emails and you just make a decision to try to make some changes. The coverage seemed to be a little more extended when I was having that problem with my plumbing. And the guy who came out to look at my refrigerator and the washer was a very nice man so I was comfortable.

    On the air conditioning unit claim, the contractor told me which pieces would be covered and which would not be covered and they said my bill would be like 3,000 bucks if they fix it. It sort of defeats the purpose of the home warranty. If it's gonna cost me 3,000 bucks, I'm gonna go find somebody who's actually recommended to me. It took a long time to get AHS to agree to do anything but eventually, I was able to negotiate some dollar amount. We also had a heater that was 100% on its last legs. It was not gonna last the winter. They gave us no money for the heater. They did not replace the air conditioner and the heater. It's a personal frustration with the warranty. On the other hand, AHS works great on things like refrigerators and washing machines that are simple repairs and the process is pretty quick. I can get somebody out within a few days. When something in my washing machine was clogged, they were able to knock that out within a few days.

    In the grand scheme of things, the warranty is not bad but it's not 100% what they say it is. You have to be willing to continue to have the conversation if you feel unsatisfied. But the other thing that I think is somewhat of a challenge is, if I call in, some people are willing to help and some are like end of the road. If you have anything that's a challenge and you get on the phone with somebody who's like, "Nah, I don't think so," call back later and you'll talk to somebody who will be like, "Oh, let me see who I can connect you with and we'll get that right." Although, it may take a few calls.

    The pipes had separated and I had a leak under my sink. I called early on Friday because I was trying to see if the plumbers could come out that day. They weren't able to come out that day, but the rep put me on for the next day, which was Saturday. And the rep said if anyone had canceled, she could have scheduled me for Friday. The guy who came out on Saturday was pleasant and informative. He engaged in light conversation and explained why the pipe came apart. It was a minimum task for him to put the pipes back together. He showed where it had separated and he put it back together. He was done in five minutes. He knew what he was doing and what needed to be done. I live in a duplex and my son lives next door. It was on his sink and I haven't heard anything. So, I'm assuming all is going well. If it wasn't, he would have let me know.

    I ordered the Platinum Shield from AHS which naturally covers more of the items in your house. And it was 125 once the contractor crossed your household. AHS collects their money in advance before the contractor comes out. Being that the plumber only took five minutes, I was wondering if it was worth it. But I signed that contract and I had agreed to that 125 per visit. Maybe AHS could adjust it being it wasn't a major deal. And I'm assuming that if it hadn't been a major deal, it would have been that same 125.

    I call American Home Shield to submit claims and they need some people who speak English. You can't understand them half the time. You have to talk to customer service and tell them what's going on. Then, they send somebody out and take a deductible. Sometimes, they connect you with a contractor the same day or the next day but sometimes, it takes a while and you have to call back a few times.

    I had two claims and one was done in a reasonable time and one wasn't. I called on a Friday and I had somebody out here to look at it on Tuesday. On the other one, I called on a Friday and then, I had to call on Monday. I had to call on Wednesday but I had somebody out here on Thursday. I had a flood and my furnace was out so I needed that. And AHS didn't fix it. They said they don't cover a flood but they took my $125 deductible. I told the lady I had a flood, which was why my furnace wasn't working. So if they didn't cover that, they should have told me so I wouldn’t have the contractor come out and look at something that they were not gonna fix.

    I called for my stove before and my furnace last year, too. The stove took a while. The company that AHS used was booked so I had to wait until the next week to get it. But they fixed the problem both times. The people have always been nice. The furnace person this time around was in and out and had less questions. As soon as I told him it was water damage, he said AHS didn't cover that. But he still looked at it.

    American Home Shield (AHS) sent this terrible appliance company to fix my dryer. Prior to the technician's visit, the dryer was working perfectly and a few of the pre-set buttons simply needed to be updated. After the technician's departure, any clothes put into the dryer did not get dry. In addition, all the pre-set functions on the dryer were screwed up e.g. the delicate cycle that typically runs for 42 minutes now runs for 25 minutes!! After repeatedly trying to dry the same clothes for 3 hours - and wasting the electricity to run it - I realized that the technician broke my dryer.

    Upon calling American Home Shield (AHS) to file a complaint and have the vendor removed from their list, AHS said the vendor has the "highest rating in their system", which is a HUGE LIE! Upon doing some research online, I found that the Axis Appliance Company routinely does this to customers. Their Google reviews is 1.3 star rating and their Yelp has a a 1.5 rating. RUN AWAY FROM AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. I am going to cancel my home warranty. SO NOT WORTH IT!!

    AHS has been excellent. We had a hot water heater that had a leak that was detected and everything was super easy in terms of submitting the claim online. We got a pretty quick response from a local contact and got an estimate quickly. We also had a broken microwave at the new condo and we had the same quick response from AHS. We had a vendor that was suggested by American Home Shield that we did not get good response from and they didn't contact us. So, I reached back out and they were very quick to find us a new one.     I had a plugged drain and a couple of days later, the ice maker in the freezer was out of whack. AHS got somebody out in a very decent amount of time and I had no problem whatsoever with the contractors. The plumbing was resolved, then they had to order a part for the freezer. It's been over a week now and I don't know when it'll be in. When the tech left, he told me it'll be about a week or so. Then, they just sent me a text a couple of days ago saying that they just ordered the part and I didn't call to question anything but the repair person told me when he was here that he ordered the part while he was here. Other than that, I paid nothing out of pocket, no, other than the deductible. Also, everything's been good with AHS. Their reps were very efficient and thorough in their job. The service costs too much monthly, but outside of that, it's a benefit. Instead of me having to call different types of repair people, AHS does that and that's a great help to me.

    AHS sent a technician from Whirlpool to service my microwave oven and they tried to repair it, but it couldn't be repaired, so the next step was the appliance's replacement. I got a nice microwave which is about the same thing and is compatible to what I had. I always call AHS whenever I have a claim and they're pretty good. As soon as you call them, they get the information and right then, they'll put in the work order and let you know who will be calling you to come out or to fix the repair. I have never had any immediate issues with them nor have I had an issue with the people that they assign me to. The default at some of the companies, they, for some reason, lack staff.

    But other than that, American Home Shield is a good company to work with. Every time I call in to get something fixed, I got to pay a deductible, which might be $100 or $110, depending on what it is, and I pay a monthly fee. The price is pretty good. It went up a little bit, but it's still comparable to other home insurance companies or might be a little cheaper.

    I had a heating issue with my furnace that wasn't blowing hot air into my vents. They were able to address that. I also had a power outage due to a lightning strike close to my house which caused my one garage door to burn out. They came and they were able to replace it. I like the fact that you pay the one-time fee, and then, if they're able to fix it, great, and if they're not, they replace it at no additional cost. In most cases, if you contact a repairman outside of American Home Shield, you have to pay for time and labor, which can add up to be a lot more expensive than the one-time fee that you're paying for American Home Shield. And that's not including if you have to replace whatever it is that needs to be fixed.

    I have American Home Shield on three properties and every experience has been good. Our policy is $125 a month which feels like a lot, but we know, at the end, that's more than sufficient than what we would pay if we had to call somebody to come out for parts and labor. I've put in 2 claims in the last six months. They were both plumbing. The first one was corroded pipes that had leaked into another bathroom from the upper bathroom. They had to totally remodel the piping. The second one was a leaky faucet in the shower. That was done last week. Unfortunately, it's still leaking so I have a call out to the plumber. I'm waiting for a callback to see if they'll come back out without having to go through American Home Shield.

    Everything else in the other two properties were appliance-related claims. An icemaker wasn't working. They came and replaced it. We had a dryer that was making noise and an air conditioner that stopped working. They fixed those too. As soon as they said that they were gonna be there, they came and the repair was completed in one day. When we moved, we highly recommended American Home Shield to the people that bought our house. My only complaint was when we moved and I explained why we were no longer keeping the policy, I kept getting phone calls from American Home Shield saying we needed to renew. I told them I didn't need to renew because I was getting a new house and I don't need the warranty. That seemed to take a while for them to take note of it.

    I called American Home Shield for the AC. I would turn the fan on, but the unit wasn't spinning. I knew exactly which vendor I wanted to use. I gave the rep the vendor ID, and the call was quick. NOVA-HVAC is fantastic. They will be my preferred vendor for any furnace or HVAC issue. I wish I would have known what the issue was 'cause I could have done it myself. But the repairman explained to me what the trigger was and what happened. He walked me through. He checked the unit outside to make sure it wasn't the unit. He went to the furnace, saw that there were some debris and explained to me why he was cleaning it. If there's debris in the tube, that can cause the unit not to spin.

    For someone who doesn't wanna have to look for their own contractors, I would recommend American Home Shield. When I have an issue and don't know who to go to, I can call them and they'll send out somebody who more than likely will be able to resolve it better than I could on my own. However, for as much as I pay, it doesn't cover as much as I believe it ought to.

    I've been happy with American Home Shield. I also like the heating and air company, KSR Air. They're good. The first time, they changed the capacitor and put freon in. The air conditioner still wasn't working right two weeks later. They came back out. There was a leak, and they had to get permission to do an inspection. This last time, the air conditioning had a leak. American Home Shield followed through with the contractor to get them to come out. I was without air for over a week. I ended up buying a portable air conditioner which worked great and I'll use it anyway. We have a camper, and there may be a time we need it. But the prices went up again. Also, when my water heater went out, the company wanted to charge me to replace all these parts that really didn't need to be changed. They weren't old. They wanted an exorbitant amount for it. You could buy them cheaper at Lowe's, so I just bought my own.

    American Home Shield never follows through. Considering the following up, paying $80 a month with this last incident and with the other second incident, it's too much for them not to be on it like they should. This last incident, I told them I had problems with my refrigerator. The temperature and the ice machine weren't working. The display light needed the bulb replaced too. The man they called to come and fix it did not wanna come out. I waited a long time for him to finally come. I had to keep calling American Home Shield to get on him for coming ‘cause I didn't hear anything from them.

    I'm paying almost $80 a month, and I'm not gonna wait so long for a whole month for somebody to respond to me. There was lack of communication with the company. American Home Shield should have made them call me right back, if not that day, the next day. He finally called and said, “I'll be there on Friday. Is that a good time?” I said yes. The guy that came fixed it right under an hour. He did an excellent job. I was satisfied with his customer service.

    When my air conditioner was leaking, they handled that so awfully. It wasn't even finished. They said it was the plate. An electrician came out and told me a plumber had to come and do his part. When the plumber came, they said, “No. That's fully the electrician.” It was a battle between the electrician and the plumber. American Home Shield was not getting involved at all. I got one call after the fact from American Home Shield. They said, “You need to pay $800 ‘cause we're not gonna pay for the freon.” I said, “But I still have this mildew stain in my garage. Y'all gotta come and cut a hole and repair the damage that the leak caused.” They just patched up the drywall. I was ticked off because of that.

    Recently, I called another guy that I used to work with to come look at the air conditioner 'cause it was not putting any cool air. He just said it needs to be blown out. But the guy who came before with American Home Shield blew it out and caused the leak to come through the wall and ceilings. When this guy I paid did it, it didn't do what the other guy made it do. I don't know what the other guy with American Home Shield did wrong as opposed to the guy that I work with came and did it. Before that, I've never had any problems. I put a claim in for one of my appliances. They came and fixed everything right away.

    American Home Shield has excellent coverage ‘cause they said I have plumbing and a plumber came out. But I don't like that they went up on the price without any notification. When I started, I paid $50 a month. Now, I'm paying 80-something. I got five friends that are with them because of me and they don't even pay what I pay. They're paying $50. If I'm gonna pay $80, I expect better service.

    I like the service. It helps when things go bad especially if they happen all at once. I like the fact that the contractors get here and get the job done. A contractor came out and did the thermostat. Not long after that, the outside air conditioner went out. Then my washer completely went out. They got it repaired though it took a little while to get the part. But I'm probably gonna have to cancel American Home Shield next year because it keeps going up every year and it's not gonna be worth it to me. I started out 50 something. It went up to 60 something, and it's up again to almost 80.

    My air conditioning system leaked water in the basement. I called American Home Shield and let them know. Put it in for a request to have something done. They said a 10-minute wait time but they chimed right in. It was two minutes. They chimed in and answered all the questions, handled everything. They did good. Everyone I talked with was wonderful. And the contractor seemed friendly. But for them to come back and redo a job is another story. They said that the air conditioner was leaking, and they came in and supposed to unstop the pipe. But when they left, during the night, it started leaking again. I had to call American Home Shield and they did a recall on it to send them back out. But they had to make sure that they did not just come back without them coming to check it and make sure that they came. They sent another person out to see if they could do the job. The water is now drying up in the basement, so it might be working.

    I have American Home Shield to help save if I have anything major happen with my appliances. I've had them before and again this past year. They are prompt in getting someone out there. So, I was very pleased with their services before and with the technicians that come to the house. I recently had GBR. My refrigerator died. GBR came out and replaced the condenser fan and the inverter. They did a great job. Everything seems to be running well.

    I urgently asked my friend to consider going to AHS because she has some issues with her home and couldn't afford the repairs. I told her AHS does great service. I told other friends as well to consider getting it because it is well worth it. Just ease of mind, not having to worry if something goes wrong. The copayment is a little high. It used to be 75 and now it's 125. But I get it. Prices have gone up, so they have to raise their prices too. The trade payment for $125 is worth it when you have something major go wrong with your appliances or something in your home.

    I had to pay $1,298 to have my air condition fixed. American Home Shield never gave me any kind of deal. They take money out of my check every month. I didn't like that. And I’m on a disability check. That put me in a hole. They sent a contractor out here to fix the ac. But it took three weeks. I'm about to burn up in the house. And I told them I was a chemo patient. They sent out some good people. But once, the tech didn't know how to charge my compressor. So, I had to wait until Carlo came. He got it going for me right Saturday. He put a new compressor in.

    American Home Shield said they would pay for the compressor. But how could they pay for it when I paid $1,298? They said what I paid for was the nine pounds of Freon. It was very expensive. So, I feel I was cheated on that. I'm trying to see if anybody out there is better because that's a lot of money that left my house. I heard some bad reviews about them, too. I'm still covered because I let them take it out of my check every month. But they went up on me. They didn't even know if I wanted to change them.

    American Home Shield covers a lot of the items that your regular homeowner's policy does not cover. The deductible is fair and reasonable, considering what the cost could be to have any type of irregularities repaired. I'm pretty satisfied with them. I had a claim where my laundry room flooded so they had to replace the linoleum and half of the sheetrock on the bedroom side of the wall in the laundry room side of the wall. They came in and they had some people come in to check for mold. It was a five-day process with the drying out and such but that went pretty smooth. We were satisfied with that. The claim I just had here was for my garage door opener. They sent a technician out and he knew what the problem was. They installed a new transmitter up on my garage door opener and it's been working fine ever since.

    A couple of years ago when I had an air conditioning problem, it took forever for the techs to come out. But recently, when my garage door was working intermittently, the guy came out the very next day I called AHS, so there was no waiting period. He told me that it was the motor that was messed up. He said it was unfixable, so he replaced the motor with the railing, the chain driven thing, to pull the garage door open, and charged me $550 for that. He was there for a couple hours. I thought that if something couldn't be fixed, AHS would replace it. But when I asked the tech what was the American Home Shield coverage for, he said it was to get him to my house and to look at the stuff. Then, I had to pay for whatever repairs that it covered.

    In a couple of instances where I've had the bathroom fixed and a couple of other issues, things worked out with AHS. But in this situation with the garage, it was totally different and it was something that I didn't really expect. Also, other than the instance that I had recently, they were good and it was worth having them. They have a good website, too. But their price has done up to $75 a month which is pretty high.

    The drainpipe was clogged and the AC unit was leaking onto and up underneath my floor, damaging my floor. I put the claim in online with AHS, but I needed someone out there that day. So, I called them and they got it expedited then got somebody out there that day. It took the tech about five minutes to fix the problem and since then, I've had no issues. I received the confirmation from the technician. I was able to track where he was and when he would be at my house. The AC is working now. They did everything that I needed. They looked at the unit.     Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is a lot easy. I prefer to do it over the phone this way I'm talking to somebody and they really understand what I'm trying to say. I'm able to say what's wrong with my house and they are able to get me scheduled for somebody to come check it out. I needed my refrigerator to be looked at. The sealing around the doorframe was starting to peel off, and inside of my fridge was leaking. So, they came out and put on a new seal. I had them come back out just to double-check because it was still leaking. Other than that, they were in contact with me, let me know what time they were coming out, and when they came out they, they took care of it.     My bathtub was stopped up. I contacted American Home Shield by phone. When I do a service call, I prefer to speak to a live body. It's kind of hard every time I call because the customer service people's original language is not English. It's sometimes hard to understand what they're saying. So, it has to be repeated. As far as the timeline, it's usually within two days. I never not received the confirmation the next day except for this last time. I called back. They told me they were still waiting to get in touch with somebody to come here. I called a few days later, it was the same thing. I just stopped calling and started calling other people. I didn't cancel the call, but they ended up coming first prior to the other people that I called.

    I felt like my call wasn't important because of that. I understand stuff happens, but a follow-up call was not given. As far as the price, it went up every year. It started at 80 something, then it went to 90, and then the renewal for this year was 120. So, it has gone up $20 every year, but nobody ever said why. If it's in the fine print, then that's my fault but I wasn't happy with that. I canceled the contract for this year.

    I got a tenant in the house. They called and said the AC stopped cooling. So, I called American Home Shield, and they got All Tech to go out there and look at it. All Tech said that the tenant had something inside the air handler that they took out. They fixed it, and it was cooling again. Two days later, I got a call again from a tenant saying it was doing the same thing. I guess they didn’t fix it the first time. So, they had to come back out. As a matter of fact, they're supposed to be out around 12:00 to 2:00 today.

    I have two houses on American Home Shield. It costs me about $107 a month. Then the service costs $100 every time they come out. I've been with them for about 15 years. As much money as I put in American Home Shield, I could have paid for everything 20 times but they help you when you really need it. I had an appliance went out a while back. They came to fix it, which cost 700 bucks. If I would have saved the money that I had been giving American Home Shield, I probably could have bought that four times, but I'm not a technician. So, I'd rather pay to have someone else do it. Also, they haven't done me wrong so far. So, there's no use of trying to get out if they haven't done me wrong.

    I've recommended American Home Shield to a lot of people. I told them they need to get American Home Shield instead of trying to fix something that they can't afford. Their customer service is quick. It takes them a second to answer the phone, but they're quick to react to something that's messed up. And as far as getting people to the house to fix it, it takes a couple of days, which is understandable.

    My air conditioner was leaking Freon and Same Day Air, the contractor, told me to open up my windows and doors and go outside if I was feeling nauseous because of the Freon. So, I did that. They came out within two hours and told me that it was over $2,500 for the Freon because American Home Shield only covers $10 per gallon and I needed over 10 gallons. Same Day Air also told me that I need a new AC unit because it's rusted and leaking. But AHS will not pay to replace the air conditioning unit. They said they never do. They only would cover parts. So, I ended up buying a brand-new $13,000 AC unit because I'm not gonna keep buying parts if AHS is only gonna cover a $1,200 part and I have to pay almost three grand for the Freon. I had to put Freon in the AC a couple of years ago too. So, it's like it's just being masked.

    The technician was fine and I had no problem. The only thing was he was adamant that I fill out a review while he was standing there to make sure that he got a 5-star rating. That should have been sent out after he left. But they were very nice. I had to have them out again yesterday because I had a little bit of an issue as far as they were supposed to change out some of the lines and they didn't. They came out yesterday and they changed out the line. So, they made it right.

    My air conditioner had problems and American Home Shield assigned a contractor but another one showed up. I ended up having to pay him out of my pocket and AHS has to pay me back. In my recent claim with AHS, United Air Temp came out. The AC was blowing hot air and the tech said the heater was on. But a few days later, the AC wouldn’t come on. So, it's more than that. I contacted American Home Shield last night. The contractor called this morning and said they can't get out till tomorrow. I'm not happy right now. We'll see if this guy fixes it tomorrow and get my air back on. And I'm in Florida, so I want my air back on.

    Updated on 10/12/2023: American Home Shield claims they responded to me regarding my review but they have not. I have received no calls, no emails, nothing! I have checked all my emails as well as spam and junk folders. Not only are they an unreliable company, they are liars! If I could give them a negative 10 Stars, I would.

    Original: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! My basement had water coming in from an unknown source so I called our home warranty company, American Home Shield. It was about 4:30 pm. They referred a contractor who closed at 5pm. I called this contractor when I got off the phone with AHS at about 4:45 pm....the contractor's voicemail stated that they had already closed for the day. I called AHS back, told them the contractor was already closed and that they needed to send someone else out. They told me that all of their contractors were closed and that I would have to wait until the next morning.!!!

    Meanwhile, water is still coming into my basement. I told them that was unacceptable...that problems in the home don't understand that contractors have business hours and that they needed to authorize an after-hours contractor or send a 24/7 company like Serve-Pro. They said that would require a supervisor's approval.

    THE SUPERVISOR DENIED THE REQUEST!!!! I asked to speak to the supervisor which was also denied. I was told a supervisor would call me within 4 HOURS!!! This never happened and still hasn't happened. At this point, AHS was just wasting our time. Meanwhile, water is STILL coming into my basement. My husband and I had to clean up everything ourselves which included carrying a soaking wet, 8 x 10 area rug up a flight of stairs and out into the garage to dry. My husband and I are in our mid-60's so this was incredibly difficult. My husband then got the 12 gallon shop vac and sucked up almost 50 gallons of water. THAT'S 5 TRIPS UP THE STAIRS CARRY A SHOP VAC WITH 10 GALLONS OF WATER....EACH TRIP!!!!

    We called Serve-Pro who graciously agreed to come out and see if they could locate the source of the water. THEY CHARGED US NOTHING! I called AHS back and requested an investigation into this situation to determine why a supervisor DENIED an after hours contractor and why I never got a call back. The response I received was, "We didn't do anything wrong."

    I had a problem with my water heater. I opened the closet to put my vacuum away and it looked like rusty water was coming off the top and down the sides. It was starting to leak, but it didn't leak into the house and there was no damage. Still, we felt maybe there might be something wrong, so I called right away. It was very easy to request for service, and the repair people who came were nice. They were in and out and did what they had to do. They told me that I needed a new water heater and they did same-day service to replace it. I was very happy, and the new water heater is wonderful.

    I've been very happy with American Home Shield. I just had my washing machine fixed. It was off balance, but no matter what I did, it was still doing it. The tech had to replace a lot of parts in it. It started leaking onto the motor and transmission, and he had to order the parts, then he came back and replaced them. I also had a dryer that quit heating, so we called American Home Shield. They sent a repair company to replace a fuse and they were good. When they left though, I went to use the dryer, and the clothes kept getting hotter and hotter, so I called them. The repairman told me, “I know what the problem is. I'll get the part and I'll come back.” It was a couple of days before he came back.

    I have two policies with American Home Shield. I've had one for two years, and I just signed up for another property last month. The price went up this year, but that's just based off of everything in the world. They give options too. I can pay more when they come out, so instead of 100, I can pay 120. American Home Shield is easy to work with. I just go online and submit what I need done, then they get in contact with whoever works on that, like a plumber or electrician. They send them an appointment notice, and they call me and set up an appointment. They come out, then they tell the home warranty company what is wrong and they do an estimate to fix it. When my air condition handler wasn't blowing any air and cooling the property, I scheduled with them. Their website is easy to navigate, and the customer service has been fine. It's mostly online, and they've been very helpful.

    Chesapeake Comfort Systems came and figured out that my unit was leaking and I needed a new handler. They also gave me prices to replace the outside unit part if I wanted to, and they informed me that it wasn't necessary. The home warranty company gives options of different ones too, so it's not just specific to whatever the repair company says. American Home Shield gives two or three options, and if they're gonna cover 70% of it, I can just pay the difference. It cost me $980 to replace the handler, which is normally $3,500. It definitely saved me money. Also, I have custom appliances, and last year, I had an issue with the stovetop. They couldn't fix it, so they gave me the money to buy one on my own. They gave me a $2,500 gift card to Lowe's so I could order a stovetop that fit and replace it. That covered all of the cost.

    We would have used AHS to get a new air conditioner but the company that was required to do the service had a suit with the Better Business Bureau and had all kinds of problems. It was called May Electric and we refused to work with them because the air conditioner issue was something that was ongoing and I needed somebody locally that could handle that. We called four times and asked AHS if we could get somebody locally but they said we had to use their provider. The reps tried to help me, but they were stuck with their guidelines. And unfortunately, we ended up paying nearly $10,000 out of pocket for that.

    AHS also sent techs out who did the rekeying of all the locks to one lock for the whole house to one of the keys that we had. That was wonderful. Then, we had a part break off the stove up at the top above the one unit that had the microwave. I had to wait a little while to get the part, which is common right now post-COVID, but the people were great to come quickly and tell us what was needed. They were great to order it, too. They just couldn't help that it wasn't available to them at the time.

    Recently, our hot water heater had a crack in it in the back and the pan was broken. So, we're in a claim right now for that and so far, so good. AHS used H&H Plumbing out of Savannah and they have been fabulous. We're going to get those two hot water heaters out of the attic because that's a total liability. We want them to put one hot water heater in the garage and they're going to reroute the plumbing. We'll pay the extra from whatever the cost would be for that and get an electrician to do a little bit of stuff.

    I've had good results from American Home Shield and for things that I've got from them, I received a very good price. They usually come in and look at the item when I call them, and I have no problem with them repairing or replacing. I’ve had the bathroom worked on as well as an oven replaced. Recently, my water heater was leaking. It took about a week for American Home Shield to get someone out here to look at it as it happened over the weekend, but the water heater is going to be replaced. They just had to order it.

    If something breaks, we give American Home Shield a call and they send somebody out. But sometimes, we have some difficulties getting someone to come out. We've had to wait. I’m waiting for Prime Plumbing now and they have another half-hour to show up. They were here last week to fix the garbage disposal and they didn't put something back, so it's causing a leak. We have high-end appliances and a few years ago, AHS put a restriction on certain things up to a certain dollar amount. But I've just seen the increases go every year. I had gotten a request to change my plan and they were offering me my plan at a lower rate with one item taken off. When I called back to get it, they said it wasn't available any longer. This is what they do to a client who's been with them for over 20 some odd years.

    I call American Hoem Shield when I have a claim and they check it out. They make sure it's me by determining that the phone number I call from is the one associated with the claim and they ask me what the problem is. A lot of times, it's just automated and I tell them I'm having an issue with my refrigerator, garage door, freezer, washer, dryer, or whatever the case may be. They ask me what the trouble is and I tell them. They go through the process of collecting their $100 and set me up with a repair specialist to come and fix the problem. They either have selected contractors that they use or I could do my own, do the payment upfront, and they pay me back. I've always gone with the ones they've had associated with them and it's always been good.

    The other day, my garage door spring busted and went flying across the garage, and broke up some things. I called American Home Shield and the next day or two, the garage door repairman was out here and fixed the issue. The contractor was Precision Door and their tech was perfect. Once they fixed the garage door, it was fixed. American Home Shield is great and they provide good service. Their website is really easy to navigate too.

I submitted a claim online, put in a request for a service, and the company called me in the next couple of days. They came out and fixed each issue.     We called AHS in July and initiated the claim for the pool heater that didn't turn on. The first company that they sent out was Upland Pool Supply and their techs felt that it was a sensor issue, so they switched the sensor out. But when I went to go turn on the heater, nothing was fixed. Another technician was sent out. He realized that the first technician made an error and that the issue had to do with something to ignite the heater. So, we needed to order that part and replace that. That was an expensive part but it was a part of the insurance. When he came out to install that, it turned out that that wasn't it either.

    It turned out that the whole heater needed to be replaced. The pool heater was nine years old the problem was old age/wear and tear. But Upland Pool decided to not fix the issue. They chose to say it was a mechanical damage and it was not covered. That was not good business and it was being deceitful. Our second choice was somebody that I knew was going to deny it. It was Pool and Spa by James and they do not approve anybody. We’ve had their tech out for other claims and every time he did, he would deny whatever issue it was. But another company would come out and just fix what the issue was. And it would be a little fix. He also lied about the heater and said it was mechanical damage. But I've had two other outside companies that's not affiliated with American Home Shield say otherwise.

    I want to part ways with AHS because those two pool companies are super shady. And that's why we got the insurance was in the event that we needed it in these times. Now, I can't afford to replace that heater. I've tried to follow it up with a supervisor at American Home Shield and pretty much their attitude was, "It's too bad, so sad.” So, I'm not very happy with the company.

    I have been grateful that we had American Home Shield several times. We've had our ceiling fans repaired in almost every room. We've had repair for the refrigerator, washer and dryer. The dishwasher was our most recent service. It was replaced at no cost because it was too expensive to repair. The claims process for the most part has been breezy. Most of our plumbing issues has been done right away. We've also had some of our under-the-sink pipes leak and those have been repaired over the years.

    The only hiccup that we had was when they used a vendor that didn't interface with the portal correctly. I couldn't pick times with them online. I had to wait for the vendor to call me to schedule it. There's some room for improvement on their website. There are some bad actors out there that are copying some of their communications and sending out false links. They could make sure that everybody understands how to identify a real communication. But everything else has been smooth. Any time I've ever had to speak to a human, they've been so helpful. We're moving and we've decided to set up a new account at our new residence too because we love American Home Shield so much. I don't think that I've ever had an issue that wasn't covered except for items that were on the outside of the house, which they are very clear that they don't cover.

    I like American Home Shield. I'm glad that I chose them. They took care of everything I needed. I only pay less than $40 a month. When their contractors come out, the copay which is $120 is not bad. My ice maker, washing machine and refrigerator were fixed through them. With the washing machine and the refrigerator, they needed reseals. I ordered the part later in the week after I had already told them to look at the washing machine and the refrigerator. I forgot to mention the icemaker, and that was being delayed. Within the week of them coming, I reached out to American Home Shield and told them I need the icemaker looked at. That became a process but I blame myself on that.

    I'm not the happiest with American Home Shield. We have a leak that's coming from the city pipe that's going into my house and they're saying that it isn't covered under my policy. I have the highest policy that they offer. What's the point of having a home warranty if they cover leaks, but it has to be inside the house? But they cover a lot of things inside the home. It's a lifesaver for the times I don't have the money to do it. I've had a couple of other repairs and their contractors came out within a timely manner to get it done.     For my recent claims with AHS, my dishwasher needed a lower rack because of the previous installation, the wheels burned out. The icemaker needed to be fixed on my fridge, and the washing machine needed new rubber. They were all covered under one section, so the same company was able to repair the washing machine and the ice maker. The tech was professional and on time. He got everything done quickly.     I had a garage door problem and American Home Shield never covered it. This particular piece was under warranty, so it was up to the garage door company to supply us with it. We could have done it that way but we would have had to wait quite a long time. My husband said, "We need the garage door to be functioning, so we'll just pay the man who showed up."

    I'm not happy with American Home Shield. There's frequently a little bit of an issue. We had a leak and they said they couldn't find someone to come and fix the ceiling. We're seniors and it's hard. Finally, we had it done. We did get a little bit of a refund from American Home Shield and it was $100. I'm paying over $110 every month and it's getting expensive.

    At one time, American Home Shield was very good and reasonable. But now, it's over $100 a month and I've been debating whether to just stop it. My husband is now at a point in life when he can't always fix things either. It's just if I'm paying 100 and some dollars a month and if something is covered, American Home Shield should cover it. I've been disappointed a couple of times. The garage claim, in particular, irritated me.

    When I sent in a claim for my refrigerator, I had to wait a month or so for the compressor. It was a long time, and I had food spoiled. Thank God I had an older refrigerator in my garage. But the tech that came out was a very nice guy. When he came to put the compressor in, my refrigerator didn't start cooling. It needed the coolant stuff to go in there, and he had to come back and finish that. But once he did that, we've been good. It just took a while and I did not like that.

    I've had all positive experiences with American Home Shield. Submitting a claim would be through a phone call, and they set up the vendor that would come and do the work. They would call me back in a timely manner, usually within the day of me putting in the initial request. I just had a contractor out to my place less than a week ago. I had some drain problems in one of my sinks, they took care of it right away, and it was a good experience. They had to go under the sink, and I have stuff stored under there. They took it out and did what they had to do, and they put it back. That was good, and very personal.

    I've also used AHS for my air conditioning system. Since I live in Florida, the air condition goes all the time. So, they came and looked at it, and did some troubleshooting and cleared up the problem, and I was back in my business again. So, I'm very satisfied. The attitude was positive. It was a young man AHS sent out. He was good and very personable. He did what he had to do. There was no mess after they completed the job, which was a good thing.

    My experience with American Home Shield has been terrible. Every time I call them, it's a problem. Somebody they sent for the hot water tank didn't wanna fix it. Now, the ice maker on my refrigerator doesn't make any ice. I've been waiting for three weeks for them to call me back. AHS sent me an email that they sent it to Whirlpool. But they never sent it so when I called Whirlpool, they didn't have anything. I called American Home Shield back and they apologized and sent me to another contractor. I paid 100 something dollars for a virtual and that was unacceptable. I gotta show the tech pictures of the freezer. When I wanna switch to somebody else, AHS told me I needed to pay another $100 but nobody had been out to fix my freezer. So AHS’ service sucks. I’m paying AHS $68.04 a month and that’s $1,200 a year. I'll save it myself and when I have a problem, just pay for it.

    I called back the first guy AHS sent out for my hot water tank and he told me my hot water tank was not up to code so American Home Shield is not going to replace my hot water tank. But he said he could do it for me for $300. When I bought this house, this hot water tank was up to code. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to buy the house because the owners would have had to buy a water tank. So I said, for whatever water tank they got out there now, I should be grandfathered in. I called American Home Shield and complained about him. Eventually, I got the hot water tank and the guy came out. But I still had to pay $300 for the extension because it's different. And now, I've been waiting three weeks to get my ice maker fixed. AHS should give me what I paid for already and get somebody out here. I called Monday and the place said the part hasn’t come in yet. So I gotta keep waiting now.

    Worst company I have ever dealt with, other than a very similar “apparent scam” of a company… CarShield! American Home Shield (AHS) has left my husband and me without air in Arizona for MONTHS now during the worst of the SUMMER HEAT… And I have COPD and struggle to breathe even more in the heat. I have complained and pleaded, yet nothing works because they could care less! Their service providers are equally as bad with attitudes and lazy agendas. You’ll NEVER save enough to make it worth it!!! We waited 6 weeks for a new compressor for the AC and it finally came and the service guy took over 4 hours to install it...to discover the “new compressor” doesn’t work.

    We still haven’t heard back from AHS as to when we can expect another “new compressor” after two weeks. During this same period, our over the range microwave burnt out and it’s been well over THREE MONTHS and it still isn’t fixed. They took MONTHS wasting valuable time and money trying to fix it, when according to their own service provider, they should just replace it. They finally did… But the rude delivery and installation providers insisted they’d have to tear out our cabinets to install it, but NOT REPLACE them! Then they discovered the corner of the new microwave was damaged…and just walked out, saying we’d have to order another one! THIS IS NOT WHAT I SIGNED UP FOR AND PAID INTO FOR SEVEN (7) YEARS!!! ZERO STARS!!!

    Hi, I have been AHS Warranty holder for close to 1 year. Never used the warranty claim until recently when our washer stopped working. Have raised the claim on 08-29-2023, the work order was issues to A&E Factory service (Sears). The tech, who called on phone collected error code and promised to order spares. Technician appointment was fixed for 09-12-2023; a technician showed up without any spares and orders parts. Follow on appointment on 09-26-2023 (almost a month) and the date came and went. Technician never showed up.

    Repeated calls to A&E Factory service never got answered. AHS customer care conveniently blamed A&E / Sears and didn't reassign the work order to another contractor. Now the follow on appointment is scheduled for 10-26-2023 (2 months after the washer went down). Daily calls and hours of wasting time with AHS customer care yielded zero result so far. I wish I could give less than 1 star, but no such option exists on this site.

    I expect to receive a full refund of my payments, as my entire journey with AHS was a nightmare. I had to complain, argue, or display my disappointment for somebody to hear me. In the meantime, I paid $39.99 monthly registration fee whether or not I had any service request, and $125 each time I requested a service. I believe AHS and most of its sub-contracts are in connivance. They come and make incorrect diagnoses to disqualify customers. I encountered unqualified agents who made incorrect diagnoses, and when I ordered a second opinion, the results were different. It happened with:

    1 - The washer/dryer: Diagnosis: It's not a normal wear and tear. I bought a new set.

    2 - The dishwasher: The first agent said, "It's not a normal wear and tear. The machine is not qualified for AHS benefits." I requested a second opinion. The agent sent out repaired the machine within five minutes. The device needed to be reset, that's all.

    3 - I requested microwave repair services. Once again, the microwave was disqualified. This time, I felt insulted. The agent said the item looked like someone punched it. Unbelievable!

    4 - I asked for assistance with one of the A/C units blowing but not producing cool air. Two agents came to my home and, in less than 5 minutes, claimed to have solved the problem. "That was easy. This was the problem." I stood there while they were working on that unit, ensuring the dogs would not attack them. One cut 3-4 electric cords within that unit, then replaced a small box connecting the cables. Yet, there was no cool air at all. They recommended waiting at least 24 hours. "Don't worry. It should be fine. If not, call us back. We guarantee our service for 30 days," they added.

    The house cooled down for 2-3 hours that night and returned to the previous temperature. I called the same company and was told the agents were booked for two weeks! We are talking about living in Nevada in June to July of this year! It was boiling in my house. Even dogs could not stand the heat! My frail mother, 77 years old, had to spend that period in the heat! Only one unit was blowing cool air, so we had to stay upstairs except for my mother, who could not climb the stairs. I bought her a fan, but the fan was blowing heat.

    Suddenly, without any notifications, the same agent showed up one Monday, two weeks after the previous visit. He returned to the A/C unit he once claimed to have repaired. He cut more wires, unplugged others, and declared, "I know where the problem is; the compressor is damaged. I will submit this diagnosis to AHS, and they will contact you as soon as possible." I could not wrap my mind around the previous statement when he first came to fix the unit. "The job was easy," they claimed, but what had changed since then? While submitting his diagnosis to AHS, the agent wrote that the compressor was damaged, and the unit was not a normal wear and tear! I was distraught.

    I requested a second opinion and offered to also hire a neutral technician to be present during the second opinion visit. My request was denied but the other agent sent had the same conclusion: the compressor was damaged, but it was a normal wear and tear. He recommended replacing the whole unit, not only the compressor, and that would cost $8,000 or $4,000 for the compressor repair! I was still stunned: "Why did the A/C work for 2-3 hours the first time? Which wires did the first company cut off? Could their action result in the compressor damage? In conclusion, a day later, I received a notification from the 2nd company after submitting the verdict to AHS: I had to pay for all the unit repairs and submit the receipts. Of the $8,000 requested, AHS would refund less than $700! The A/C was not repaired! A family friend lent me a portable A/C for my mother's room.

    5 - I received an email from Clark County about a water leak. The bill was almost $300. They recommended fixing the problem to conserve water. My toilets leaked. The agent arrived with cheap materials, claimed to fix two toilets, and said the third toilet was not leaking. Unfortunately, the leak continued. I called the same company to report the problem but was redirected to AHS. I called AHS and spoke to an agent who promised to send someone to my home, but nobody showed up.

    The following week, another letter from Clark County was mailed to me as a second warning. I called AHS to cancel my registration as I felt scammed! "The department that handles cancellation is closed. I will leave them a message and they will contact you as soon as possible," I was told. Two days later, a lady called and inquired about the reasons for the service cancellation. I explained the whole story. She said she would take care of it; again, nothing was done. I called back a few nights later and requested to close my account. I asked the AHS customer service agent not to bother calling me back.

    I am writing to advise anyone planning to enroll in home warranty insurance: It is not worth it. Not only broken items are not replaced with the same or superior material qualities, but the probability for service disqualification is high. It is better to hire a technician and save yourself the trouble. In my opinion, these services are legal scams! I do not recommend them at all. I am sorry.

    Recently, we were having a problem with our HVAC system specifically the cooler outside. It was a recurring problem and somebody had already been out through American Home Shield six months before to repair the same issue. This time, Accent Heating came and repaired it. It worked great. I always recommend American Home Shield to everybody. I tell people the coverage is really worth the monthly payment and the co-pay. The rate has gone up substantially in the past couple of years but it's well worth the money to know that somebody will come out and the service won't cost any more than what you expect it to cost. We've had between 20 and 30 instances over these years where we had to have somebody come out. A couple of those times, they replaced whatever was malfunctioning and they didn't give me any grief about that at all. Things just got done.

    It was very easy to submit a claim. I just went online and said I needed somebody to come out and look at my AC. I got a phone number from American Home Shield, then I called JRT Mechanical and they called me right back. They were excellent. They were super nice people and they stayed in contact and let me know what was going on. The unit I had was 22 years old, and they couldn't find the right parts for it, so they had to order a whole new unit. The first unit that they got was the wrong one, so they had to send that one back and get a different one. I don't think JRT Mechanical was the one that was ordering the unit though. It was through Home Shield. Besides that, the service was excellent. The waiting time was not so much, but at least it wasn't in the middle of summer where it was 110 degrees, and right now, it's all working. Overall, American Home Shield has been a worthwhile investment.

    I've had several claims to American Home Shield. It seems like when it rains, it pours. I have two washers and two dryers. The washing machine went out on one, then the dryer went out, and now the washer is out on another one. Then I had a ceiling fan go bad on me. AHS has been taking care of all of those for me. I have an expensive ceiling fan, which is hard to find unless you get it at a specialty store. It has up and down lights. They glow up to the ceiling and down to the floor. They don't make those kinds anymore. The claim hasn't been completed yet because it just happened about two weeks ago. They're looking for parts to try to get it fixed because I don't want a replacement. I can't find a replacement that's equal to what I've got.

    Several years ago, I had another ceiling fan similar to the one that's broken now, and they did fix that one. They initially offered me $250 to replace it, and I said no. When I went shopping, I couldn't find anything similar to what I had, especially for $250. They fixed it and I was very pleased. So, I'm sure they'll do the same for this one.

    To submit my claims, I call in and there's an automated service. They usually will get back to me either by text or call and tell me that they're reaching out to a person to come and do the service work. Then they'll text me or email who will be coming, and tell me that that person will be calling. If they don't call within three days, I can give them a call. I've really never had any issues but one electrician one time. I understood his dilemma because he was coming from an hour and a half away. He's a single owner. So, it was a bit of a burden for him. I was okay with it. AHS found somebody else and it worked.

    I have had American Home Shield since the 80s. My parents got it for me as a Christmas gift, and I kept renewing it. If something goes wrong, they'll fix it. I've only had one occasion where they wouldn't, and that was over 25 years ago when we lived in Delaware and had a pool. I was on vacation. When the pool people called me and said, "Hey, your pool is broken down," I said, "Fix it." When I tried to submit the bill to American Home Shield, they wouldn't pay for it because I hadn't gone through them first. There wasn't much I could do. Other than that, they never denied a claim. Things go wrong and in this instance that I'm in right now, it seems like they come in a cluster. I'm grateful I have it because otherwise, I'd be paying through the nose for repair bills. I would recommend AHS. I've recommended it to my neighbors because they were having issues with some things in their house, and they got it.

    My AC wasn't working and it was really hot in here. I reached out to American Home Shield through their website on a Friday. That seems to be the quickest way to get things to work. Comfort Pros came out on a Tuesday. It was 95 degrees inside our house so that timeline didn't meet our needs. In the fall or the spring, that might not have been a big deal. When I filled out the form on whether it was Friday night, they said it would take two days and that didn't include the weekend. Comfort Pros did a fantastic job and they diagnosed the issue fairly quickly. There were two issues. One was something that they were able to fix right away. The other, however, they had to order a part that took a week to come in.

    The motor was gone in my AC. It would have been nice if American Home Shield offered an option to get a temporary air conditioner. It was a massive heat wave where we were living at the time. I have pictures of the thermometer in the house at 95 degrees and that was at night. That aside, American Home Shield does a good job. But gone are the days when they would be out within 24 hours. When I signed up for the warranty, that was the case. Their quality has gone down but their price has gone up. I've been a member for a while.

    I had a dishwasher that went on the blink. We live in a smaller area and American Home Shield didn't have anybody that could service it or replace it quickly. They gave us what I thought was a very fair stipend for it. Everybody took the information on the phone and approved things right away. The stipend was sent to us very quickly and we went to our local Home Depot and bought a new dishwasher with that. We opted to get a nicer model but we certainly could have bought something with that stipend amount. It was all good.

    The price of American Home Shield is very fair. We've had to use it and it's been there. We've had a great experience so far with them. We're very happy with it and we recommended it to our parents. They have the same one we do. They had their microwave, two garage door openers, and air conditioner serviced by the home warranty. Everything was great.

    The microwave issue had to do with a fuse situation or some sensor and it didn't work. Techs came in and fixed it that same day and everything works fine. In the case of the garage door openers, they were really old and they kept going up and down randomly. My parents hadn't moved in yet and the neighbors would call me and tell me the garage doors were open. I called American Home Shield and they sent a repair service in. They approved it right away to replace both of the openers. That was a little crazy. The techs put two brand new ones in and everything's perfect so far. Everybody that we've dealt with has been very nice too.

    My air conditioning system wasn't blowing cold air. I sent in a claim through the website and it was very straightforward. It has a big yellow button that says "Submit a claim" and then you check exactly what's wrong. I had a great interaction with the contractor. It was very quick and straightforward. The furnace was frozen, so I let that thaw. But when the tech got here, he noticed that it was low on Freon as well. So he pulled it up and cleaned the exterior of the AC unit. He put so much Freon in there to where they can track it. If it happens again, they'll know if there's a leak, and then they can do further repairs if needed. Everything's perfect now.

    Overall, I've been with American for about a year and a half or so. I like that it covers the most crucial systems. It's easy to get, you can submit a claim and get everything repaired. I'd recommend it. When I got it, there was a sale on the membership price, so it was only 50 bucks a month. So it made sense as far as repairs versus just cost.

    The baking element in my oven wasn't working. American Home Shield checked it and replaced it. When my icemaker was not working, they also replaced it. But I recently called them back, and the contractor came back out this week because my icemaker is still not working. The tech did check some additional things this next time. He checked the water line and the compressor fan. So, new parts were ordered and they're gonna come back out and get the icemaker actually working.

    American Home Shield is very responsive. When I put in my request online, they call me within 24 hours. They do a really good job of calling to schedule your appointment. The contractor does a really good job of calling you when they're on their way, which is usually a 30-minute to an-hour window. They'll call you the day before and say, “Hey,” or schedule your appointment and then say, “We’d just let you know we're coming.” They'll send a reminder text. The technician will actually call you on the phone. So, thus far, I've had a really good experience with them. American Home Shield is worth it.

    When the garage door was originally installed, the people who did it thought they did it right, but they did not do it right. So, we've been operating off the remote for a long time. The remotes have worn down over the years. So, the base station never did work. When the tech came out, he noticed that the guy had screwed the screws right through the wire. That was why it never worked. So, he hooked it up. He knew exactly where to look and I told him what was going on. He fixed it all up and I bought some more remotes and we're good.

It's good to know that I can call somebody instead of having me go through the yellow book to find a comparable guy. I feel very confident that American Home Shield has my back. They take the load off my back. It's great. I love it.

    In the beginning, I was skeptical when American Home Shield approached me. Then they showed me that they have different levels of coverage and gave me different options, which I really liked. So, I was able to focus my plan based on my specific needs, as opposed to a generalized spread-out kind of thing. I didn't have to pay for services that I didn't need, which is good. Also, their website is user-friendly and I love it.

    Sometimes it takes a little longer to get the services rendered but we work it out. I had a water heater replaced a couple of years ago and that took forever. It was ridiculous. But the turnaround time has mostly been reasonable -- within a week or the same week. Recently, I had a claim that Andrew Farren came out for and from the time I called in and until the time their tech came out, it was pretty quick. He checked the garbage disposal and he determined that he couldn't fix it. He put a new one in, which he had in his truck, so it was awesome. The only thing with American Home Shield is English isn't the first language for the customer service people. Also, they raised my monthly rate and I didn't remember getting a notification about it. But when I called in about it, they were able to resolve it. I would recommend them by and large, though, because I've had them for several years and they've been pretty good all in all.

    I've been with AHS since 2017 and I like the fact that I can call and get things fixed. Dockside Plumbing recently came out because we were having two toilet issues. One was a leak somewhere and the other was the toilet was continuously running. They seemed to fix the running toilet fairly easily. But the other one, they had to cut a hole on the wall for diagnosis. It has been a week and a half and I am still waiting for a contractor to come fix the hole. I had called somebody the day after and they said they would get back to me in 24 hours but they did not. Then, I called a week later and somebody at American Home Shield looked it up. She said she put the claim in and I've gotten a text saying that somebody has been assigned. I have not yet heard from them.

    It's always been very easy with AHS and whoever they send out has always been really great. My husband is a very busy man and works long hours. These repairs would be a struggle for him to find time to do so it's nice to be able to call one number and have them send somebody out and it's done. I don't have to research who I wanna call. Recently, our air conditioning quit working so I filed a claim. They let me know that they had sent it to Coaches HVAC who would be reaching out to me within 24 hours. Coaches had also done my annual check on the air conditioning in April and it was a very good interaction.

    The tech came out and he messed around with the unit. He told us our air conditioning was over 20 years old and at some point, we would need to replace and that the issue would probably keep happening. The unit went out again when it was 106 here. Coaches said they would send AHS some information and AHS would reach out to us but they didn't. Then, there was a little bit of a disconnect because AHS used three different names of companies. There was this Frontdoor and I had no idea who Frontdoor was. I kept getting a message from them.

    I called AHS and they had sent an email to the wrong email address. They had my last name spelled incorrectly but the rep resolved it on the phone. That was very helpful. We got that figured out and they gave us a quote on what it was gonna be and we agreed to the contract. She stayed on the phone with me while I went through the process of approving everything.

    Coaches came out pretty quickly after, although it took a couple of weeks before we got our air conditioner. Part of that was also scheduling for us but we figured it out. The day they put it in, two guys came and they were right on time. But they told me that AHS was gonna send someone to check their work and once that was done, they would have somebody from the county check it and then everything would be good. But I have never heard anything from AHS about checking their work nor have I heard anything from the county about wanting to come out and check it. Also, I noticed on my Visa card that there's like a 90 and some odd dollar charge and it is one of AHS's affiliate companies. I don't know what that's all about.

    The AC wasn't cooling. The compressor had been replaced about four years ago but it never cooled the house. Every time American Home Shield would send somebody out here, they would look at it and say that's usually the way it is because of the heat here. I had enough with it already and I called American Home Shield again. All Tech came out and I explained to the two gentlemen my issues with the compressor ever since it was changed out. They went through the issue very professionally and troubleshot it. They came to the conclusion that it was a bad compressor from the start. They had to order the compressor and I had to wait on American Home Shield to approve it. Once they approved it, they told me what my part of the charge was.     The warranty gives me peace of mind. I had a drain clog and the contractor was very polite. They took a long time to solve the problem, and then recommended a longer-term solution to all plumbing issues. They tried to upsell it with a little high-pressure pipe cleaning. So, my wife was freaking out about it. I said, "No. I'm spending 400 bucks to have some guy come out." She debated a little bit with me and I said, "Okay, fine. Let's go ahead. Let's give them a call." I scheduled the service and with our 1970's house with cast iron piping, the tech I got said, "I would absolutely not recommend using this process to high-pressure clean your plumbing." The clog was between the kitchen and the point he would inject.

    So I said, "Well, I appreciate you being honest because you probably would have really screwed me if you had blown my pipes open underneath the foundation of the house." He goes, "Yep. I never do this process with cast iron plumbing and pipes unless it's all PVC." He just charged my wife 75 bucks for some enzymatic drain cleaner that is supposed to eat out all the old scum that's clogging my drain anyway.

    I've had the service of AHS for a long time. I have two houses that are on it right now and one's five and a half years. Before that, my other house, I had it too and I had that one for another six years. For the most part, they do what they say. From my experience, it's been good. I had a pool filter that exploded one time and the pump wasn't working. The techs came, they changed my filter and my pump, and I just paid 75 bucks. I've referred AHS to several people already. For the most part, most of the techs do a decent job, too. It was also easy to submit a claim online with AHS. But over the phone was terrible. I was on hold for over 45 minutes, got hung up on, and I had to call back again. But the techs who came out were excellent. They had to replace the whole AC.

    I have two contracts with American Home Shield and any time they've gotten the wrong part, they've been always so apologetic. We have always been thankful for the service people that they send out, and I try to give them a gratuity but they won't take it.     AHS gets stuff done. They get things taken care of quickly and inexpensively. I had a claim when my swamp cooler went out and they said it was not good anymore and was all rusted out. So rather than repair it, they just replaced it and that was great. Recently, my refrigerator was leaking and I couldn't figure it out. The first guy who came out said that it was the compressor, so they had to come back a week later.

    When they did, he asked me if I had the compressor replaced recently. I told him that I haven't and that it was the same when I bought it four years ago. He said the compressor was okay and said that the previous techs overfilled the Freon. And when it would freeze, then it would freeze on the tubing and pipes. And then, when it would melt, it would leak all over the floor. So he fixed that and I haven't had a problem with it since. Both of the techs were very polite. The first one didn't talk much, but the second one explained to me what he was going to do. Also, they covered my floor around the fridge, then they cleaned it up. They were really professional about it.

    My AC unit wasn't working correctly. I went on the American Home Shield site to make a claim and that was really easy and self-explanatory. It has tabs and "Help us" if you can't figure out what's going on. I'm not very computer-savvy but I could figure it out so the site was pretty user-friendly. American Home Shield then sent me a message saying who my service agent would be. My service agent got ahold of me and they also sent me text messages when they were 15 minutes out. They sent me the review through my messaging service as well so I could give them a review after they were done.

    The service agent was awesome. He checked both of my thermostats. He opened up the actual unit and looked at a couple of things. I knew what was wrong with it already so I got up and told him that. We found out that the AC was low on refrigerant as well so he changed some settings on my AC to help me out. He then filled it with refrigerant and the unit is working perfectly now.

    We've had American Home Shield since June. I got it because I had a conversation with some of my co-workers one day about home warranties. One of them has American Home Shield and told me about it. I looked into it, looked into the different plans, and discussed it with my wife. I looked up reviews and found out they have great reviews. I haven't had any issues since. I would recommend this home warranty to my family and show them their website. That's what my friend did with me. Whenever I had some problem, my husband was too busy and with them, I had someone that I could call and depend on. One time, my microwave blasted so something dropped from the outside.     So far, I have a good experience with American Home Shield. Sometimes, some works get delayed because I'm far from the city. So, they cannot find any vendors but besides that, everything was fine. They fixed everything. I filed a claim for the fridge. There was leaking water by the dispenser. A service guy came and ordered parts and then came back and fixed it. It took a couple of weeks because the guy lived far from here. He comes on this side of the town twice a week, but he's really good on the schedules and he did a really good job.

    There was also a claim for an air conditioner. The tech cleaned the unit and checked a few things. He changed a part, and everything was fixed in less than a week. The air conditioner guy work around here. He lives 20 minutes from here, and he's really good in fixing. My only complaint, not for the guarantee, is the plumbing. I have a lot of problems with one company around here. Sometimes, they don't have somebody close. Sometimes, they have an issue with time. They take a while. But at the end, they fix things.

    AHS is pretty quick to solve the problems and we've been happy with our experience. I had a leaky air conditioning unit and the website didn't have every option I was looking for. I had to pick one that was in the general vicinity of my issue and I had to look at a whole bunch of options to make sure that it was logged correctly. Then, I was emailed the service agreement.     My last experience with AHS was really good because they took care of everything. The claims were for the air conditioner. The first issue we had was the compressor was out and the contractor replaced the compressor. Then, two weeks later, I noticed that something was not right. The humidity in the house had shot up. The unit stopped working again. We reached out to the contractor again because that's what American Home Shield wanted us to do. After about a week or two, they never responded. I did another claim and that's when Comfort Pros came out. They put us on the schedule but they came out a day earlier than what they were supposed to, which I was good with. They diagnosed the problem and troubleshot it. They did everything that they were supposed to do. They needed a part and shot the claim back to American Home Shield.

    Comfort Pros was just gonna let the part be on backorder for an undisclosed amount of time but it was 110 degrees. Nobody could go upstairs and we have a baby that lives here. Thankfully, we have two systems and I pulled everybody downstairs. I called Comfort Pros and they said I need to call American Home Shield. I didn't think that was correct, but I did anyway. I called them back and they said that it had been approved since Sunday and that I needed to get my appointment. And they were like, “No. We'll call them,” which they did, and they got me an appointment.

    There was a venting issue with our AC. I submitted a claim online and it was very easy. I picked which unit was giving me trouble and I described what the issue was. The contractor came out and the problem we had with our unit was more than just a venting issue. It was something that wasn't repairable so they connected us with another department of American Home Shield that does upgrades for AC in our area. And American Home Shield has a service where they offer a 50% discount for services for an AC replacement. We went through that and within a week, we got the replacement unit installed. I've recommended people to American Home Shield in the past. There are some people who say that it's a scam but that has not been my experience.     Our AC was freezing over and not working. I put in a claim with American Home Shield and they gave me the name of the service company and said that the company would be in touch to make an appointment to come out and fix the AC. It took three or four days to get somebody out here. During that time I was in Mesa, Arizona. The average temperature was about 112. I would have liked to see something where American Home Shield was able to better triage and maybe have something set up for emergencies. 112 with no air conditioning and having a small child is not just an inconvenience but an emergency at that point.

    That aside, I was very impressed with the service company, Crispy Air, that came out. They were awesome. The tech needed to pump in more than half of what my AC held for Freon. It was that low. And then he stuck around and made sure that everything was working again once it was all done. Our AC is working perfectly and we haven't had an issue since.

    My experience with AHS has always been good. I've had them for nearly two years now. They seem to really care about taking care of things if you have issues with stuff. I have had an issue with the refrigerator recently. It's a more expensive item, but we're still continuing to work on whether we can fix it versus replace it. We're gonna go down another route again about trying to rebuild a motherboard in the refrigerator because the motherboard is not available for purchase anymore. I don't understand it.     I had a leak in one of my pool pump valves, and the first guy from Alchemist Pool Service assessed it and what the repair was gonna be. It got approved, then another guy came back a couple of days later and replaced it. My AC was replaced too. Alchemist Pool Service was out here again today because my pool heater wasn't working properly. It worked when the technician was here, so he went through a bunch of different scenarios that could be causing it to happen sometimes and not others. I've gotta troubleshoot to try to figure it out, because there was nothing he could do. Everything looked fine when he opened it up and tested it.

    So far, American Home Shield has been really good. It's easy to submit service requests on the app, and I usually get a fairly good response within 24 hours. The warranty price is good as well. The visit price is about $15 more than I was paying with my last home warranty. I've only dealt with a couple of different warranty companies, so I'm not sure if that's the going rate now because of inflation. It's still not too bad though, especially when I had to have my AC unit replaced. It was $6,000 I didn't have to pay.

He told me that was normal, that the molding that keeps the air and the dust out of the garage builds up and keeps the door from opening. I didn't appreciate it.     Their people have gotta be smart enough to know that if it's the garage door, it has to be broken. I told the lady what was going on with the door and she said, "We'll send somebody out." Then the repairman comes out and tells me, "It's still working." They tell you these are the main appliances that they take care of. The garage door opener is one. But it doesn't tell you, if it's hesitant to open, they're not gonna fix it. It's gotta be completely broken. I've been with American Home Shield nine years and I'm paying $56 a month. If they compare what I've used compared to what I've paid into it, they can buy me three garage door openers. I'm gonna start thinking about getting somebody else. But on another claim, they fixed my ice maker.

The techs were here when they said they were going to be and they knew what they were doing. Another thing that they've done is my air conditioning. I was gone for a couple of weeks and I came home and the unit had gone out. I called American Home Shield and it took a couple of days for them to get here because they were booked up. It was the days that it was 117. It was very hot.

    I let them know that I was in an area that is 55 and older 'cause I'm 83 years old and I live by myself now. I said, "You know what? I really need somebody as soon as possible." They were here within two and a half days. So far, I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield. I'm glad that I have them because it would have cost me a lot more to replace whatever was wrong with the unit.

    American Home Shield's response has been good. I had a dishwasher issue. It had excess water at the bottom. The contractor came out the first time and diagnosed the issue quickly. They had to order a part and that was about a week. Then they replace the motherboard in it. The company was responsive. I also had two air conditioning issues. I lost the capacitors in both units. It was about a month and a half apart. Again, the contractor diagnosed quickly and repaired that day. Both technicians were very good.

    Some people come a few days later. Some people come in right away. The customer service for the air conditioner repair did not work very well. But I’d still recommend American Home Shield. When the capacitor on the spa was broken, the repairman said it was not covered, but I have a capacitor, and he helped me to put it on.

    The contractor who came for the dishwasher that stopped working was awesome. They had to order and replace a motor. American Home Shield saved me $500. In the past though, you could select who you wanted to come and who you didn't wanna come. I appreciated doing that more than them randomly sending somebody. I've had them send somebody out and that person was a money-grabber. We just had a housing inspection and he tried telling me that the sump pump that was on the house was the incorrect kind. He tried selling me a $5,000 pump that wasn’t covered under the policy. I contacted another plumber to come out and take a look at it. He came out and told me my GFI was tripped.

    I sent in a claim for a broken air conditioner. American Home Shield sent two of the wrong parts knowing they weren't gonna fit. They wanted to see if it would work but it didn't. There was a back and forth between the technician and American Home Shield. There seemed to be some disconnect between when the technician told me he got the equipment to replace and when he actually got it to replace, and what American Home Shield told me. When I brought that back to the technician, it would infuriate him, and mostly at me. He was very angry. He really yelled at me and carried on. I told him, "I hope nobody treats your mother like that." I understand he was busy and frustrated. But I was too because I was displeased. I've paid over $7,000 over the last seven years that I've been in business with American Home Shield.

    It was gonna cost me an additional $890 to replace my compressor when in fact, the compressor was covered. It was the Freon that they were estimating at $890. I said, "Freon don't even cost that much. And you can't put eight pounds in there. So I don't know where that money's coming from." That was a big concern because if I paid American Home Shield all this money and if I had known that every time I was gonna use them, they were gonna tell me no, and I'm gonna have to pay extra money, then there was no sense in having them.

    When I needed to speak to somebody state side, American Home Shield didn't have any option to let you speak to a customer service rep. The reps are in the Philippines and they were very difficult to understand. When it's 115 degrees, there's not a whole lot of good will going. I was not happy. The tech became more frustrated with me because I was checking up every day. But I was displaced. I couldn't even stay at my house, and I work from home. So it was a very disruptive time. I'm glad it's over. American Home Shield ended up replacing the unit.

    I had a front-end washing machine that completely died. So I called American Home Shield to have it fixed. When the tech came, he said it looked like a mouse crawled up in there. The mouse ate all the wires. Instead of offering to fix it, American Home Shield just said, "I'm sorry, we can't help you." So, I had to replace my washer myself. When American Home Shield renewed my contract, they did an increase and I called them immediately as soon as I saw it hit my bank. I told them, "Just cancel it. I'm not gonna pay you $100 a month. And then every time you come over here, you send somebody that says, 'No, I'm sorry, I couldn't fix it." I'm not looking to have it fixed for free. I'm looking for my products to be fixed. When I pay an average of $85 a month over seven years, it's a little high for me. Do not get American Home Shield. It's not worth the money.

    Submitting a service request to American Home Shield has been delightful. The people are friendly and helpful, and they have people in town that do the work. If I don't want them to come back to my house, then they put it in my record, and they don't offer them to me again. They had people come out for the refrigerator three times, and then they said that I needed a new refrigerator, so, I got one. I paid for most of it. The technicians were wonderful. They did the best they could do as far as fixing it. It ran for quite a while, and then there came a time when they couldn't get the part, so that is when we agreed that it was broken. Overall, the price for the warranty is reasonable. The price I have to pay to have someone come out is a little high. It used to be lower than it is now. Other than that, I've been very happy with AHS.

    My air had gone out and at the time, I was taking care of a two-year-old and it was extremely hot in here. I did the claim online on the first day and the contractor called and scheduled it for a week out. So, I hung up and called American Home Shield and asked if there were any other vendors that they had used for that, that I could possibly get in here sooner because I had the baby here. She called the contractor and then called me on the phone and said they would be out sooner than that. They came out a lot shorter than a week. Other than that, everything was great.     I've had American Home Shield too long. I hate them, but I'm still with them. I live in Coachella Valley, which is near Palm Springs, and we have a population of over a half a million people, and American Home Shield uses a service guy that's 60 miles away that comes out here once a week. Our washer went out on us. I put a call in for August 1st. That was our first service call. And yesterday, we finally have a washing machine again. Accord Appliance's technicians are great. As far as the customer service with AHS, there's nothing to like. You can't get to anybody in this two-month period. I'm yelling and screaming about trying to get them out here more often. You can't get to anybody with any authority.

    I recently had an old AC go bad. One of AHS's contractors came out and recommended replacement, but couldn't do the work I needed. I called AHS and they said they could do a cash out for the $1000 they covered for replacements. They said they just needed the report from the tech in their system, which could take up to 3 days. Instead, it took a month, and multiple calls to AHS (each time fighting a hostile phone tree).

    In the meantime, I got the AC replaced by another contractor. When AHS finally got their mess resolved, they said they wouldn't pay me what they owed because I didn't get the work pre-approved - never mind that they didn't say anything about needing that in my initial call, and I would have been stuck without working AC for more than a month if I waited on them. Long story short, they seem fine so long as everything works perfectly and you can afford to wait on their schedule to get things fixed. If not, they will use their own screwups as an excuse not to pay you.
