    The thermostat of our AC downstairs wasn't working properly. We figured out it was the AC unit outside. But it was a quick fix. The tech came in right away the next day, first thing in the morning as soon as I checked with him, and he was in and out. He was great. The customer service of AHS was great, too.     The customer service of AHS was fine. However, for my recent claim, everything has not been taken care of yet. When the tech left here, he took care of one of the issues. But he said that he had to order a special part. Maybe the part hasn't come in yet. We also don't like the fact that we pay a monthly fee and then whenever someone comes out, you have to still pay something. But that's okay too because of the fact that 9 times out of 10, we still don't end up coming out of pocket once it's taken care of.

    One claim that was good was when American Home Shield had a technician out at a reasonable time for an issue with the water heater that was busted and the problem was resolved. The bad one is when it took them a long time for a person to come out and then they said that part wasn't covered or that someone else had damaged the item. And this was with an air conditioning.

    When I was trying to get my tankless water heater serviced, I didn't get a good result from it. So, I was disappointed. I wasn't getting any hot water. So, the person that American Home Shield sent out told me something I needed to get it serviced. I said, "Service? I had already had got it all serviced before, but he didn't resolve the problem." He didn't give me the proper feedback that I needed from him. So, I had to go to somebody else and spend money out of my pocket because I thought AHS would do it. But I'm still paying the money for my monthly bill.

    My experience with American Home Shield didn't start very positive but once they got it straightened out, it was a good experience. I signed up for a contract and when they did it, they put in the incorrect monthly amount. So I called them back to let them know it was the incorrect contract. They had to cancel that and they couldn't get the price right. Somebody was super rude in the customer service department. But somebody reached out and apologized for that experience and said that they would give me a coupon. I didn't care for the coupon and asked to do some training. And it never happened again. So, something must've worked.

    My washer was not turning on and the contractor called me. There was an app I needed to download on my phone and the tech figured it out in three seconds. They ordered the part and within three days, the washer was fixed. I was super surprised. I was thinking how they were gonna diagnose through a phone but they did it. Plus, the tech was very professional.

    American Home Shield did and covered what they were supposed to. I was okay with it as long as they paid the claim. They're very competent. The most recent claim was the air conditioner that stopped cooling. I filed the claim over the automated system. It worked. Also, the tech was a very nice, knowledgeable gentleman, and he explained what he was doing. I liked his knowledge of the product line and what to do about it because it conked out a second time a week later. He came again and fixed it. AHS didn't charge me for the second trip. The process went very well.

    I set up a date when Master Tech Appliance could come out because they couldn't come out that same day and it was four days later. They had to order parts and it took about four days for the part to come in. They came out the following Monday and fixed the appliance. So, it took about a week and a half to get everything taken care of. They did a good job. But it seems like none of these companies have the parts on their truck and once they say what the problem is, it goes back to American Home Shield, who approves it.

    AHS uses small companies and if your refrigerator is gone, then you're out of the refrigerator for a week and a half. It’s the same with your stove. They do a good job but the response time needs to be improved. Ever since I used American Home Shield, I know in advance if something breaks down, it's gonna be a two-week timeframe. I told the people I could go down there and pick up the product in about three hours or I could get it shipped overnight. So, if I could do that, the contractor should be able to as well. They said that’s not the way they work. And when I called the company that had the part, they said I was gonna have it at my doorstep the next day.

    I had a hot water tank problem, I called American Home Shield in advance and they said they were gonna get somebody to look. I called the company and they said I could pick up a brand-new hot water tank because it was under warranty. And when I called the company, I told them the hot water tank was here and to bring the tech out. He came out and had to verify the hot water tank was bad, and then he had to wait another week. He said we still gotta go with the process. So, I had to schedule another appointment a week later and that didn't make any sense.

    If you call a company to work on something, it's gonna cost you $600 for their labor and the time that they came out. So, AHS is a good idea, especially if you don't have warranties on all your appliances in advance. And you can go to their site. The company that worked on the stove just had the guy and his son working. They came out on a Tuesday and he said they would have the part by Thursday and would be back Monday to put it in. So, that was the quickest.

    I usually make the claim on the phone because, on the website, it depends on when they're gonna look at it. I have American Home Shield for my son's place too and I've recommended a couple of different people and they used it too. I told them AHS is good if they need products done. But if they want it done right away, they gotta call a company and it might cost $600. So, they can decide on that. AHS pays for itself but if you need it bad enough, it won't because if it's your air condition and it's 100 degrees out, and they won't be there for two weeks, then you're screwed.

    The garage door wouldn't go up and down right. You had to have the button or it wouldn't work. I called and talked to American Home Shield, and they sent the Ace's guy out. He was good. He fixed it right off and left. AHS also had a guy come and fix my stove. It's somewhat fixed but the oven still doesn't work quite right. It takes us 40 minutes to get the oven to warm up to 375. If you're a cook, that's an awful long time to wait to get something up to a baking temperature.

    Surfside came out for the dishwasher. It wasn't starting and then the hot water coming in wasn't enough. I called American Home Shield. The next business day, they called me and set up a time appointment. The tech was very knowledgeable. He found something else that I didn't. He was a good technician. He said, "I'm gonna go ahead and get the parts for this. And when I come back, it won't take long to put it together." So far, I don't have a problem. I recommend AHS to my family and friends when we gather together. Having AHS is very convenient. The price went up. Almost every year, it will change but I understand with the economy. As a female, it's very convenient just to know that someone is there to fix something for the family.

    Get American Home Shield if you don't have it. It’s peace of mind. They have done a lot over 15 years like the boiler, water heater, plumbing, electric., and appliances, like a dishwasher, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, and oven. I would call, get online, and tell them what I need fixed. They would send somebody. And they would tell me what I need. They tell them what they need to do, and they do it. Two people just came to do my steam boiler, and were excellent people. AHS has a limit on certain things. Like air conditioning, HVAC, 5,000. On a steam boiler, it’s 1,500. I deal with it. But the other things, they cover everything in full. They covered $1,700 worth of work on my pool for $75.

    American Home Shield's service has been better than most. They're the best as far as getting people out. When I lived in San Diego, it was fine. No issues because there were a lot of service people. They now also have AHS at Anderson and on my current house. I haven't had issues getting people out. They come out promptly. I have a card on file with them so once I file a claim, they charge my account automatically. And usually, within that day, I would get an email assigning the repair company. I would call them and make sure when they were coming out to set up an appointment. So, it has been easy. I had a hot water heater repair at the other house where my daughter lives and AHS responded quickly to that and got it taken care of.

    Our air conditioner needed an annual check. The contracting company that American Home Shield sent was wonderful. It was a bad wire and they changed the wire out. They had it done in less than half an hour. Generally, AHS sends out a local guy but sometimes, we get a little tangled up with the folks coming out of Austin. When they come out of Austin, half of them don't understand what they're doing. AHS pays attention when you tell them something though. It's worth the money.

    Optimum Appliance was good but the plumbing company before that didn't solve the problem I initially requested for. The water was not flowing through the faucet and the technician replaced the faucet but the problem was still there. He told me I had to create another ticket to solve the problem. I already paid for it and it doesn't make any sense. I'm not happy with that incident. They ended up submitting a report to American Home Shield saying it had to be another trip and I had to pay again. I told AHS that was not fair. So, that’s still ongoing. If a customer submits an issue, AHS should solve that issue as opposed to creating more hurdles based on what the technician tells them. They take the technician's word for something. There are certain things where they create more issues than solving the problem but generally, they are okay, which is why I haven't switched so far.

    My experience with American Home Shield has been pretty good. The service is great. I recently had a repair with my AC unit and my refrigerator. It went smoothly. The contractors were great. They resolved the problem. I had to pay out of pocket because on the AC unit, it needed some parts and they said the refrigerant that they had to replace wasn't covered under my contract.     I like the convenience. The fact that I can pick up a phone or get online and pay out a bit of a fee and have all the rest of the work done if it needs to be has always been very convenient. I've had a microwave, the dishwasher and heating system replaced. And I've had a washing machine checked out. American Home Shield just fixed my dishwasher that wouldn't drain. This is the second time I've had to have my dishwasher fixed. AHS' website is user-friendly. And the contractor was on time, professional and friendly. They did the same thing both times.     My overview of American Home Shield hasn't been that great because when I first reached out to them to set up a warranty claim for this issue that I've had going on about my plumbing for a while, Patriot Plumbing came out first. They claimed that there was something wrong with the wax ring. So, the guy replaced that. That didn't resolve anything. The person who owns Patriot Plumbing came out, which I didn't even know until I talked to the dispatch lady, but he didn't really do anything. He looked under the house. He looked in the bathroom. I requested both guys from Patriot Plumbing to check my attic. They refused to check it. I was like, "Well, that's one red flag."

    Before he left, the owner said, "I'm going to get one of my best, top technicians." It was just a way to blow me off. When people tell me that, I already know it's a bunch of baloney. They were not reaching back out to me to do anything because they didn't give me any type of contact information. Several days went by, I didn't hear anything else from Patriot Plumbing or American Home Shield. I talked to Patriot Plumbing. They said, "We're gonna go ahead and set it up."

    Then a lady called me from American Home Shield after I told him to come back out for a recall because I was still having the same issue. Then I got an outbound call from American Home Shield. A lady told me that they decided to go ahead and cancel it. I was like, "Well, how are they gonna cancel it before they come out?" The lady said, "Oh, they couldn't find any mechanical errors." I was like, "How y'all gonna tell me y'all can't find anything? You didn't try. All you did was basically take y'all's money.” That was all they did. Every time they got paid, that's all they care about clearly.

    At American Home Shield, I talked to someone named Godfrey, Lisa and so many different people. Godfrey was supposedly a supervisor. He had the worst attitude of them all. The last lady was nice. She did what she was supposed to. She's the only one that saved everybody. The last company that was sent out was really professional, but they told me that I'm gonna have to eat the cost of what it's going to cost to get this replaced. I found out there's a part missing. It's just a hot mess. I wouldn't go with American Home Shield.

    I've wanted to cancel American Home Shield a couple of times because they haven't paid for things that to them were legit but I still keep them. I spent $2,500 for my air conditioning, which was only a couple of years old, but it was an act of God and they don't cover that. It happened at another time too with plumbing and that cost me about $1,500. I pay a lot of money and I don't reap the benefits. In my recent claim, the mechanic Complete Air came out within a couple of days. He fixed the issue right away because I told him what was going on and he figured it out before he got here. I also had a claim for my oven and it just wasn’t getting fixed. The techs took three tries and it was finally fixed. Hopefully, it stays fixed. The last couple of times, my experience with AHS has been fine but they keep raising their fees, like everybody else.

    My furnace went down. The heating coil was bad. I called American Home Shield and they sent Family Heating and Cooling who then said that it was incompatible with the rest of the furnace. To replace the heating coil will cost me somewhere around $1,700 or I could just replace the whole furnace. They said, the whole furnace will be 10,000, but I had to put out funds for $5,499.99. They were decent guys. They told me the same thing American Home Shield told me that I can put out half and get a brand-new furnace or just put out for the heating coil, which I had problems with before.

    I decided to get the whole furnace because I thought that they would pay for it. And when they told me I had to pay for half of it, I was like, I'm kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. I had no choice. I had no air conditioning. It was close to 100 degrees for those two months. I got a family that suffered for almost two months with no air conditioning. They didn't come out right away.

    They had to order from somewhere and initially, they didn't order it. I submitted the claim. I sent my check. They said they received the check, but somebody didn't put the check in. So, it took another month. When they told me that it was on the way, I assumed it was on the way and it didn't. After a month, I called to find out the status, and they told me nobody submitted the check. So, I had to wait a whole nother month. I spent the two hottest month of the year with no air conditioning. I would tell others to go somewhere else.

    The AC unit was not blowing out cold air during a hot day and I had a problem with that. When Comfort First Heating came, it took them just a couple of hours to fix the issue. They were very professional. This is the third year I've used American Home Shield and they’re a good service. The reps get me what I need. But every year, the price goes up exponentially, which is a problem. In the near future, I may have to look elsewhere because I'm starting to pay a lot more money than what I did three years ago.

    The fridge was building up with ice at the bottom and the technician knew what it was. When the contractor contacted us, they should have made it clear that we needed to make sure the fridge was defrosted before he came out. But we didn't think about that part. We had to defrost the fridge so he could get into where he needed to get into to replace the thermostat so he had to come back. And when he came back the second time, he said he had to order the part. So, we just started using the fridge again and he said they would let me know when the part comes. When the part came, he came out again. We made sure the fridge was defrosted. He replaced the part and now, the fridge is cooling. We also told him the lights in the fridge weren't working. So he put in an order for that as well. He checked the switches and they were fine, but it looked like the LED light was not working so he had to replace those. But since then, it's working.

    We’ve only used American Home Shield once for the fridge. Our house is only six years old so it is fairly new. We thought we should probably get AHS now because things will probably start failing. But my father-in-law has got an older house and he’s got a few problems. So, we got AHS for him. For the AC, the young man came and looked at the right place and said the pipe was busted. He replaced it and the AC stopped leaking outside. We’ve used AHS for my father-in-law a few times and the techs are good. They fixed the issue under the sink and the fridge.

    My wife does the claim online and it usually goes well. On the other hand, if I have to do it, I'll do it over the phone because I hate dealing with computers. I prefer to talk to a human being. American Home Shield will send an email to my email address, which is the one that we have in the system. They let me know that the contractor has been assigned and that I should expect to be contacted within 24 hours. They send a text within 24 hours and then, the contractor calls and introduces themselves. They’ll ask when a good time for me is. When we had a major electrical issue, I called the contractor on Monday and the owner of the company, Mike, said he was just getting ready to call me. He asked when he could come out. I told him we were there and he said he would be here in 90 minutes. And he was.

    When we used AHS for the two plumbing issues that we had, the plumber said they came from Killeen, which is about 30 minutes from here. We even got from them a thing that pops up and lets the customer know where they are and what time we could expect them to be here. We could track them on their system. We've been using American Home Shield since we moved here to Texas from Florida in 2006 and we have not had a problem.

    I had four different appliances that needed help and previously, American Home Shield had a company and they sent them out. Apparently, those people went out of business. They came out once or twice and then more things needed attention. So, then I called American Home Shield back and I said, "They said they ordered parts for my washing machine and like it's just been dropped. What's going on? It's been like six months." They were like, "Wait, let's see what's going on." They called me back and said they could not get any answers, so they are going to assign it to Sears.

    The refrigerator was dripping water from the spout. The dishwasher was not heating up enough to dry the dishes. The washing machine needed a new rubber ring. I called them out on the dryer. Sears came out in August and fixed it, and it wasn't working again. I just found out the other day, and I canceled their services to come back because someone turned my gas off in the house and outside. The pool company was closing my pool and they forgot to turn the gas back on.

    The contractors were very informative and verbal and personable and professional. They explained what they thought was wrong. I thought putting the rubber ring on the washing machine would be a quick five-minute fix, and it was like a two-hour thing. They had to take the top of the washing off. I was really shocked that it was that involved. They had to screw things in. So, I can't say anything bad about any of them. The appliances are all functioning well now. I feel comfortable having AHS because I'm not fairly new. It's been five years that my husband has passed. So, I feel very protected that my appliances are taken care of. If you want a home warranty that takes care of things like your microwave going out or your washing machine, AHS is the place to get the coverage.

    This company was highly recommended to us. We paid our dues for 4 years. The first time we had a problem with this company we thought it was just a one time bad experience so we continued to pay for our subscription, we can all have a bad day but after that, EVERY time we tried to get assistance, all we encountered were problems and no help at all from this company. It was always hard to find a person to talk to. The services they subcontract are not reliable and the technicians are just plain rude.

    This company was always happy to charge you every month plus the $100 for initial service fee but then they could never find a solution to whatever problem we had. There's a huge disconnection between corporate and the actual contractors they use. We sold our house and when we cancelled the operator tried to upsell me and charged a "cancellation administrative fee." We would never recommend it. We are so happy to say goodbye to this company.

    The pump that heated the hot water wasn't working and AG Plumbing, the contractor, replaced it. I have hot water so it’s a good thing. The repair guys were fantastic and I've referred them out to several of my customers. I've had several things I've had to call in on and I like the ease of having American Home Shield. You just call, tell them the problem and then, you get a text message with the people that are gonna be repairing the problem. So, it's been very simple. People should get AHS. It’s worth it and they’re a good company to work with. There is no life on appliances so it's important to be covered.

    We had continuous running water in one of our bathroom toilets. My spouse notified American Home Shield. We were told which contractor was being sent out and approximately when they'd be arriving. They let my spouse know what they were changing out and about how long it would take. They even allowed her to watch them through the process. My spouse and I both have had wonderful interactions with all the contractors that have been sent out. Home Shield has been a wonderful asset to us as homeowners and it's been great. I would recommend it to anybody, especially I've even had a few coworkers that I've recommended it to that either were already homeowners or getting ready to start looking.

    When I first purchased my home 21 years ago, the sellers bought me a one year warranty with American Home Shield. Back then it was 500 a year and something like 29.00 dollars per visit if something was wrong. It covered appliances, furnace/ac, ceiling fans clogged drains, leaking pipes etc. Well, it was ok. They did a good job back then. You can fast forward up to today where the yearly payment to them is about 84 dollars a month, and 75 dollars for each visit. That I figure due to inflation and whatever, is still not a bad deal. So, if an appliance cannot be fixed by a technician, then they will let you buy a comparable priced one for free. A good deal.

    This whole thing started when my 20 year old dishwasher leaked. Well, whoever worked at AHS, thought it would be good to find a repair person in Florida to help me. You don't get to pick who does your work, by the way... Well, These people at Cone Appliance were worthless. AHS did not vet these people, and I guess did not care. So all the while I paid for flood repairs while the Cone ** sent over a tech who would not come until I sent them the serial number and model number. They finally did come, they didn't answer phones, put us on hold for 30 minutes or more each time we tried to talk to them.

    So we called AHS to complain. They have a lot of numbers for people probably from India that are good at appeasing you but never doing anything... So after month or more of constant phone calls and patience, AHS finally got rid of those idiots and picked another company closer to us and within a week or so, we got a dishwasher installed. Then the washer broke. Well, at least this time we had the better company to fix it, and it would totalled, so we needed a new one. Months it took from start to finish but finally got new washer. Now, it has been some time since I have called them for anything. In the end, they did their job right at AHS, so, I would give them a good 4 stars at least. Funny though, will be selling house next year and I will never need AHS again, and I will Still.....be happy....Not putting up with all the bull!!!!

    Some of the techs that American Home Shield bring in weren't knowledgeable. For example, the plumbing. We had a couple of appointments when they didn't show up or they showed up very late. Also, it's very tough when they would give a range of the tech would be in my house from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. That's the whole day. Why couldn't we get a more accurate timing so I could go grocery shopping or little errands that I need to do? That's something that could be worked on.

    The last contractor was the good one because he came in and did some work here already. The last one I did with the plumbing was good, on time and got things fixed. But the one in-between, because I have called a bunch of times when they came in, it felt like, "I need to show up because it's part of my schedule," but they were not ready to work. I told them the situation, they said, "I'm not gonna go down the house and check the plumbing. I'll just do my report and see what we do about it." That company did not report it until a week or two after. I waited. It was a bad experience with them. But the one that got it fixed was good. I requested them back to come and fix it, and they fixed it right away.

    I've had to use American Home Shield seven times since we've lived there. When I had to contact them, they took the deductible and usually 30 minutes later, I would get a call from whoever is assigned to the job. And they usually follow up with us and make sure everything was okay. I've had to have a couple callbacks, but no issues with them. They were very easy to work with. They answered all my questions. They took the payment easily. They relayed messages back and forth. When they figured out what was wrong, they would tell me, “This is what you're gonna need. This is how much you're gonna need.” And they're very easy to talk to and to communicate with through emails and text messages.

    We had to have our hot water heater replaced. AHS sent somebody out. They replaced it. We also had to have our heating and air conditioning unit repaired. Our unit is old. The people AHS sent out had to come back a couple of times. But the last time they came out, they fixed it. They were very nice. Same thing with the hot water heater. It was on the same ticket. They got somebody assigned to it right away. Within 10 days, they had ordered it. We got everything approved. And they had a new one put in by the plumbing company. They had to order it. The longest time was waiting for the hot water heater to come in. But it had nothing to do with AHS. It was the company that was replacing it. But they've been great.

    The heating and air conditioning guy was friendly. It was three times he had to come out. He was apologetic because he couldn't fix the problem. But every time, he went out of his way to make sure that he kept the area clean and he explained everything to me. He even put this extra thing on the heating and air conditioning unit so we could drain it easily now so it doesn't clog up. The unit is very old. So, he recommended something that the owner should do. I'm sure it would need to be replaced because it's over 20 years old. And he did the same thing for the hot water heater. He looked at it, contacted AHS and told them that we had another problem. He was very helpful.

    I have American Home Shield for two properties. They are good, and they're good with their response. I have good experience with our other property, but I don't have good experience on my primary home. The recent claim was not that good. We had an issue with the cooktop, and one of the agents came and said they could not repair it. We called AHS again and tried to find out what was happening. The agent was not okay to repair it first. When we said, "We're going to cancel the service," AHS said, "I'll send some agent to take a look at it and give us the feedback." The second agent came. He ordered some replacement part. When I talked to them, they said it could not be replaced. But now, I heard that there is a replacement part, so I'm not sure what's going on. We don't know how this case will be handled. But AHS handled the other incidents well.

    I always tell people to get American Home Shield. My husband is disabled. He used to do all these things. Even when the toilet bowl runs, it's too much for him to cognitively do that now. That's why we got AHS. And even though the price went up, it's still amazing. I'm happy with the service. I speak to somebody in the Philippines. They're very lovely. It usually goes very quickly, and they're very professional.

    My refrigerator didn't freeze completely all the time, and it would smell, so AHS sent somebody out but it wasn't fixed yet. The guy has to order the part and AHS has to give it to him. I emptied the freezer. The freezer is empty, and I'm waiting for him to call me to schedule to fix the freezer. He has to get it fixed. He changed the fan but he couldn't get to the drain because it's clogged up. If the refrigerator couldn't get fixed, I would get a new refrigerator. I'm not putting the turkey in the freezer for it to go bad. So, I'm waiting for them to come back.

    There was one company that I didn't like. I told AHS never to send them to my house again. But Central Appliance is wonderful. I've had them in my home for different appliances in the kitchen. The plumber has been good, and the electrician wonderful. The air conditioning guy was uptight, but what are we to do? And two of my appliances were not fixable, so they were replaced. I've had great experiences with them.

    I signed for $77.40 per month since April 2023 and I was told that they will repair all my appliances and AC at no cost. My cooktop did not power on and American Home Shield did not cover the repairs. My AC stopped working in June 2023 and they asked me to pay $1,600 for repairs as it is not covered. I was very shocked that I have to pay this much. I called our AC guy that I used before to get a second opinion, he came and fixed our AC issue for $80. See the difference? American Home Shield asked me to pay $1,600 for repairs while my old AC guy fixed our AC for only $80. I called American Home Shield to cancel on Sept 20, 2023, but the rep refused to cancel and again I was charged another $77.40 on Oct 21, 2023. I made several calls for 2 weeks from just to cancel and I was being passed around and I was told that for me to cancel I must pay another $77.40 for cancellation fee. American Home Shield is a rip off. Do not sign up.

    Foxcroft HVAC came to check our air conditioning to see if it needed Freon put in. The tech was very professional when he dealt with us. But he ended up having to have somebody give us a quote for putting Freon in and I never heard back from him. It's been a fiasco. We decided not to have Foxcroft come back anymore and we had another company work on our furnace this week. That worked out very well.

    Another company came to fix the ceiling fan in our bedroom. The fan had a remote unit but we lost the remote control for the thing. Some guy took a picture of the fan, went back and submitted his report, and somebody at American Home Shield denied our claim because we did not have the remote. We were out 100 bucks for some tech to stand there for a couple of minutes and take a picture of the fan. I'm not happy with that. I'm thinking about cancelling the coverage. For what we've used, it's not the worth the effort going forward. Read the fine print and make sure AHS is what you wanna do.

    Customer service was pleasant. The contractor contacted me and the tech came the same day. I had to buy the replacement faucet but I didn't buy the right one. What I got had a soap dispenser on it and my sink doesn't have a hole for that. That made me go back and get another type that fits the sink I have. They told me to call them back when I get the part. The techs came the next day and installed it onto my sink.

    I recommend AHS because it was nice not having to search for a plumber myself. Even if I didn't have American Home Shield, even though I know about David and Sons then, I would use them. When I call AHS, the person who would answer was very professional and would explain what I need. The coverage is good and the amount I pay monthly is okay.

    We've had positive experiences with American Home Shield. Our last problem was with our air conditioner, and after submitting the claim electronically, I was notified within an hour that it was being taken care of. Within two hours, I was given the name and number of the persons responsible for coming out and taking care of the claim. I was also given a number to contact if I hadn't heard from them within 48 hours.

    In about 24 hours, I had a time scheduled. Because of the amount of work necessary, it took a week before the appointment was scheduled, but they came promptly when it was scheduled and helped us out there very greatly. Our air conditioner broke during the middle of the heat, and I would have liked to have been able to get it fixed sooner than a week out, but I understand. This wasn't the first time we experienced problems with our air conditioner. We were with another company before and it took a month to get someone out for service. It was due to the amount of service that was being rendered with the people AHS is contracted with. They had a great deal of claims.

    When the service personnel came out for our air conditioner this time, they checked everything and saw that it was low on coolant. They took care of of that, made sure that everything was working properly, and checked the unit to make sure it was prepared for the upcoming summer heat. Everything's been working wonderfully since. I keep my filter changed and it's been running all summer. It's still performing well, and we haven't turned on the heat yet.

    I'm satisfied with American Home Shield, and I'd recommend them. They have done everything that has been needed without delay or any issues.     I've had American Home Shield four years, and I've used them once, which was six weeks ago. Service-wise, it was fine. The claim went good, and the guy was sharp about what he did. He was at my house all 15 minutes. The thing that bothers me is American Home Shield keeps increasing the price without me ever having any calls. I'm sure they have inflation but they should increase the price for people that are using them, and not me.

    If they'd just leave the price where it was, it's fair. I signed up for it. I'm not buying the unannounced raises though. I've had one every year since I've got the warranty, and they probably let me know in the beginning or it's on some fine print. Still, I was with them for a year and I haven't collected a nickel, but it went up from 38 to 42, then a year went by, and it went from 42 to 45. When I used them, it ended up being a minor thing, so I doubt that it cost them any money there either because the initial call fee probably covered it.

    My largest concern is the air conditioner failing in the house, and it hasn't, but then, I got to reading the contract. They're very ambiguous about how much they're gonna cover, so I called in, and the girl that I talked to said, "Well, no, we're gonna cover everything except for your service call." I had the page and the contract, and she was adamant that they're gonna cover it all. I wish I got a recording on it, because I'm not sure they will. I've had a friend that had an experience since we signed up with them, and they weren't all that positive about it. Overall, American Home Shield is good for people who want to pay that kind of money to have insurance on things that they're gonna do.

    My washing machine wasn't agitating, and it had something to do with the motor. Hot Shot was sent out, and they were on the worst end of the ones that I've dealt with. The guy they sent out didn't communicate very well, then we waited for a week, and they didn't call me to schedule an appointment to come back. I ended up having to call them to see where the part was, and they said, "Oh, we'll be out there the next day." Besides that, my washing machine is working fine. In fact, I'm using it right now. Every year, I think about dropping American Home Shield, then something goes wrong and I'm glad I have it. Of the companies out there that I know of, they're who I'd go with.

    I have nothing but a good experience with American Home Shield. The claims process has been great. They usually have somebody the next day. When the stove igniter wasn't working, the contractor that came out lowered the gas. But it didn't turn back up when they were testing it, so there was no gas coming up. While the tech was there, he did a couple of other repairs. He replaced the igniter and that little wrap thing that goes on the oven to keep the heat from coming out.

    My last claim with American Home Shield was fine. The one before that is still not fixed, but I just gave up on it. I had a gentleman out here. It was the switch on my washing machine. We thought it was fixed until we started doing laundry. When you shut the lid, it doesn't always connect to start the clothes washer. So you have to keep coming back even now to make sure that it made the connection. So what you do is you lift the lid and let it slam, and then it makes the connection. That's never been fixed. The issue is that I was being accused of not returning calls. They would say that they called, and according to my phone, nobody called. I even had a witness with my sister-in-law. They told me he would call in 30 minutes. We sat there and waited for a phone call but never got it. I've even considered finding somebody else because of that.

    I've explained my frustrations to American Home Shield a few times. That claim is still open, but I gave up on it because I don't want anything to do with that guy. I'm just dealing with the problem switch until it stops altogether, and then I'll let them replace the whole washer. The guy was cold. The very first time he came out, it was like we were bothering him. Then, the rest of the time, I was trying to get him on the phone and because I left a nasty comment about his services, maybe that was why he's not calling me back.

    With my very last claim over with the refrigerator, the guy was very nice and offered that if it shows up again in the next 24 hours, I should let him know, and he'll come back out and look at it again. The reps were kind of confused at first, but they tried very hard to resolve things as far as trying to work with me. There was no issue as far as the American Home Shield people.

    For the most part, I always get the services that I need. Sometimes it takes way too long. But once they do the service, it is outstanding. They're not responsible for the service and how long it takes for the service people to get there. But sometimes you have to wait three or four weeks for them to even fix something, and when it's your refrigerator, that is unacceptable. The last claim that I had was for a socket. It had a burning smell, and there were some wires in there that were burned. It took three days to get somebody out there. What if my kitchen had burned down in the process? But the contractor's work is very good.

    American Home Shield has been good. I made a claim yesterday on my refrigerator, and the vendor was quick in getting back to me. I've got an appointment for them to come see my refrigerator tomorrow. This is the third time I've made a claim on my refrigerator this year, so I'll see tomorrow if they can get to the bottom of it because I'm done making claims for the same problem. But overall, American Home Shield is responsive and they make it easy for me to make a claim. Everyone I've interacted with that they sent out has been pretty cool.

    My experience with American Home Shield for the most part has been pretty positive. But there were a couple of instances where their representatives didn't exactly know what they were doing. Sometimes their accents are thick. And when you advise of a problem, they try to say the policy doesn't cover it. An instance of this was when I took part in one of their free services where they did a check on the HVAC system. In the process of the person doing the service, they found that one of the pipes under my house was leaking.

    When people have older homes, all the pipes are under the house and not on top or in the walls. I called American Home Shield and told them I had a leaky pipe. The rep said they don't cover it. I said, "What do you mean you don't cover it? That's part of the policy." She said, "No, we don't cover anything outside of the house." I said it was under the house but the rep said that was outside of the house. I said, "But what you don't understand is this is an older house. So that's how the house was built." She still said they don't cover it. I told her to escalate the call to a supervisor. I explained to the supervisor and he said, "You're absolutely right. We do cover that. I understand." I ended up getting another policy from someone else just in case and I kept that policy for about a month or two. Ultimately, American Home Shield covered the claim and they had someone come out.

    I had American Home Shield before. My brother told me about them and referred me to them. I like the fact that they'll send people out and if there is anything that needs to be fixed, they'll come out and fix it. The only thing is they should really focus on the employees that they have and whether they are English-speaking. The issue is the communication factor. Companies nowadays go outside to other countries and these people have a thick accent so it's hard to understand what they're saying. And they don't understand the dynamics of homes built in the 1940s, '50s, or '60s compared to the houses built in the 2000s.

    I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield. I've had a hot water heater and a washing machine that they covered for me. Those are expensive items. Out of my pocket, I've spent $200. I like that. They had to eliminate things so I was without a hot water heater for two months. But it was due process and I understand that. It was the same thing with the washing machine. It was about a month, but it was due process. You can only work as fast as you can get your stuff to try to fix something. So I get that.

    National Platinum came out for my washing machine and they were fine. I was scheduled to have my washing machine delivered between whatever time and 7 PM on one night. At 10 minutes till 7:00, I got a phone call from the guy that was delivering the appliance and he got hung up, and it was gonna be almost 8:00 or so. But I couldn't do it then because my husband goes to bed at 7:00. So I had to tell the guy no and he said he would call back and reschedule. I tried all day the next day. I called back the number that was calling me and the rep told me I had to call their Knoxville branch. So I called the Knoxville branch all day that one day and could not get ahold of anybody. I couldn't leave a message because their mailbox was full. I even called the lady back and she even tried. She sent him an email and I still didn't hear from him.

    I called the driver because his number was on my phone and he apologized and he said, "They'll get ahold of you sometime today," which was on a Friday. But there was no phone call. So Monday morning, I called them back and this time, he answered. We got it set up and it got delivered two days later. Lowe's delivered it. They had it here at 7:00 in the morning.

    I don't like American Home Shield. I'm about to cancel it. They always find a way to not pay. It's sad. As much money as I paid American Home Shield, they always got these little hidden words inside of these policies where they won't cover something. When I really needed them, I didn't get them. I ended up paying even more money. I've had electrical claims, and I don't really use them for that much. For what I use them for, it doesn't even come close to the amount of money that I've invested in this company.

    I called for a plumbing claim. There was a pipe that broke inside the wall. The plumber came over and he told them, "Yeah, it should be covered." They were like, "Well, why did the pipe break?" He was like, "I don't know. Probably normal wear and tear." They made him say something. He was like, "They were making me say something that I didn't even know. I can't tell you why the pipe broke, but it bust." The bill was $880. I've been in really bad financial turmoil ever since.

    American Home Shield has done extremely well for us. For the most part, the technicians were really well. But I plan on calling American Home Shield about the AC. I would tell them that I don't want the same companies. It was 24-hour service, and I had to wait about four days. Also, they didn't have their act together on what the problem was with the air conditioner. They said it would have to be replaced and they didn't send in the form to American Home Shield to indicate that it couldn't be repaired. That was the only bad contractor that we had. When I had a claim for the garage door opener, a guy came out but he didn't carry that particular battery with him. So he ordered one and came back and fixed it. I was pretty happy with that.

    An international company does answering for American Home Shield and they're very, very highly professional. But I didn't like their approach to things. So I'm still gonna call them back and say, "Hey, wait a minute. They didn't do the form. And I have a issue and I'm gonna have them come back." I'm gonna have them come back to take care of that for me. But they did everything else extremely well. Years ago we had a little plumbing issue and they fixed that right away. So, it's good. It's good to have a company out there that helps out.

    My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for a dishwasher. It took them five times to come look at it, and then the guy came and fixed it, and then it wasn't fixed. They had to come out the third time to look at it again. Then they had to figure out what they were gonna do, and they came out again. So, I wasn't really happy about that. Each time, I had to leave work and go open the door and let them in. They should have come the first time, diagnosed it, got the parts, and fixed it on the second time. It dragged out. It wasn't American Home Shield's fault, it was the vendor's fault. They're saying, "Oh, it's working." It's like it works once and then it's back to doing the same thing it did. So, it's still broken.

    American Home Shield's reps were great. They called the contractor that was doing the work and did everything they could to try to get it remedied. I would just hope that AHS would pick their repair partners and have them fix it diligently instead of trying to tell me that it's fixed. Also, I'm not happy because the price keeps going up every year. It started out at 700 in 2018, and now, it's over 1,100.

    It was nice to talk to someone from American Home Shield domestically, because a lot of that stuff can be outsourced. We hit it off well and the rep let me know about part of the promotion I was looking into. If I had gone with the highest plan, the same kind of discount would have applied upwards. That was what we needed, so we ended up doing a higher tier because of that interaction.

    The electricity company came out because in a whole strip of our house, the lights weren't turning on. We found out that some of the bulbs just needed replacing, which I feel so silly that I didn't do it myself. But there were some problems, like some of the switches short-circuited or weren't working anymore. So, it was good they came out because it was helpful. We also had our ceiling fan that wasn't working. They went above and beyond in taking care of that.

    The thermostat register on my microwave was making all kinds of weird noises. I didn't have a read out of what the temperature was on the oven, which presented some problems. I put the claim in through the website and was contacted back immediately saying that Mr. Appliance of Pasadena would be there, and they gave me the date and time. They showed up when they said they would, and the gentleman was very nice and knowledgeable. But he was unable to pull a model number, at least off the microwave. He worked on it for a while and he was looking at pictures of them and trying to find one that looked like it. He took a few pictures of my stuff and uploaded it to the American Home Shield portal. He was in and out of there in under a half hour. He was most pleasant. He said that typically, I would get an email that day, and then it would be followed up later because he was unable to find the model number.

    After a couple of days, I didn't hear anything, and I went back into my claim and wrote a note to say, “Hey, what's going on?” I got a response to that, and it said, “We can't replace your microwave because it isn't on the market anymore, and we're looking for replacement parts for your stove. You should hear from us within three days.” So I waited again for about five days because we were at the weekend again, and haven't heard anything, and I submitted another inquiry.

    I called one time prior to today to see what was going on, and they said, “We're working on it. You'll have it.” So today, I had a long drive and I decided to make the call because the hold times are pretty long. When I got through, I pulled over and talked to the first person and explained the situation. She then told me that neither the stove nor the microwave was available, and that they couldn't get parts for the stove, and that she would have to put me through to Appliances.

    I told the rep that I was very unhappy that this had been a month and I had been without an oven for too long. I was concerned because Thanksgiving was coming, and I have a dinner to cook and no reliable way to do it. So she was very nice and she transferred me to Appliances where I got a wonderful lady named Tarikia. She smoothed things over and did her best to make it right. She needed me to measure and take pictures of the two items when I get home in a few minutes. She gave me her email address and I'm going to do that as she requested.

    Tarikia said she would try to call me back. She was amazing. By the time I hung up, I thought a company that has people like her is not bad, and this is an anomaly. It is not the way they do business. So I feel better, and she was very nice about it. I'm so glad I landed with her. But if I get to the point where I don't hear from somebody, I will call the number she gave me since I was transferred to it. She notated the claim so that they will know exactly what was going on and not have to go back to the beginning and figure it all out again. But when my water heater went out a couple of years ago, it was absolutely seamless. I called and American Home Shield got somebody out there. They got the new water heater. I paid my part, and it was installed and it was done in no time.

    Axis Plumbing was great. They had to come twice but they did excellent work. They got my ice maker fixed. They ordered one part and when the part came, they came back out to put it in. It's supposed to make cubed ice and crushed ice, but it was only making all crushed ice. They realized that it was another part that they had to order. So, they ordered the second part, and then they had to come back and put that one there. Now, it works perfectly.

    The customer service representatives at American Home Shield were great. I reached out to them through the phone. I've had to use them because my stove went out. They had to send the company about the stove. Every time I've called them for something, it's always been positive. I'm very pleased with my package, too.

    I had a leak in the stovetop. I called American Home Shield and spoke with someone. The reps are always good, nice and kind and very helpful. They sent me an email and told me that it was approved for a new stovetop. Then they delivered it on Monday. The installer was very good and respectful. He was also very amenable and professional. But it had to be cut a little bit because the old one was a tad bit smaller. Then it fell right in. But he couldn't get it in, so he couldn't do his part of connecting because it wasn't fitting right. American Home Shield helped me a whole lot and saved me a lot of money since I'm a widow. They are quite efficient. They repaired about three things and everything has been really good.

    We had a terrible experience with the most recent claim. We have a broken oven. We made our claim out at the end of August. We got a technician but it took a couple of weeks. That technician unfortunately had a personal health problem and kind of disappeared and didn't have anybody here returning his calls. Finally, I called American Home Shield and said, "What's going on with my oven repair?" They told me that they would have to reassign it. So they reassigned it and somebody came out finally. They said, "Oh, we need this part." They told me that they were gonna be shipped to our house. So we waited. 10 days went by but there were no parts. We found out that the part was lost. American Home Shield said they would order it again.

    The service repair people never returned a single phone call I've ever made to them. So then they ordered the part again. The box showed up pretty quick. But we had to wait another nine days for them to come to the house. We did not touch the box because I didn't want to interfere with the part in any way or be accused of dropping it. It was like a freaking clown show. The technician showed up on time. He came in the kitchen and opened the box. It did not have all the parts. All it had was a face plate, and not any of the electronic parts that needed to be replaced in the oven. So he called his people and I called American Home Shield.

    Their customer service agents are very professional. They don't get upset when you're upset. They do just fine in the way they comport themselves on the phone. However, it is now the middle to end of October. My oven has not worked since August. It's not fixed and we don't have a date when it will be fixed yet. I am extremely displeased with the whole thing.

    I live way up in the mountains and there are repair resources that don't take work from American Home Shield in my area. A lot of them don't accept American Home Shield. So that becomes a reason to change to somebody else. They've gotta be able to hire people to do the work. When we had a problem with our furnace, the local guy who I know is reliable and good and does good work won't accept American Home Shield. So then, they've gotta go to a resource that's farther a field. In our case, the nearest big city is about 20 miles. The American Home Shield reps were empathetic and they tried to help. But they don't have the authority to do anything. American Home Shield's price has gone up and there's no explanation. So it just happens, which is not great. But so far, everything that I have made a claim for has been covered.

    American Home Shield did everything that I needed so far. When I have a claim, I fill out a ticket online, and then they call me and send somebody out. When I had a claim for the air conditioning, they were able to get somebody out in two days. The contractor was knowledgeable and very nice. He fixed the problem. But the next day, it popped again. So he came back and rewired everything. I did not pay extra. They didn't re-charge me. They just came back out and made sure it was fixed right. I haven't had any problems since. I've also had American Home Shield broken pipes and they were pretty quick and did a good job.

    When the sump pump wasn't working, I called up American Home Shield, and then I went online, putting in what was the problem, and they took it from there. They assigned someone to me, and the contractor came right out and took care of my problem. It was very easy. The rep was pleasant, professional, and very helpful. The contractor was professional and took care of my problem. They wanted to make sure that the sump pump had a dedicated line. It didn't register on my wall panel. So I had an electrician come out, looked at everything, and that was taken care of.

    When the microwave wasn't working, the gentleman came out from the service company and looked things over. He said, "Well, it was no longer functioning. The parts that I needed are not being made." American Home Shield got in touch with me and asked me which one I wanted. I chose what I wanted, and they sent it out. The people came out and put it in. I've been with American Home Shield for almost 30 years and it takes care of everything. They've been wonderful. Their price went up but they didn't go so far out of my budget, so I'm fine with them. Their online site is very easy to navigate. It takes all the information I need to give it.

    We had a washing machine that needed to be repaired, and American Home Shield got on that well but then we had a refrigerator about a week or so after that, and the repairman said that it could not be repaired. It was a little over 26 years old, and he said there were no parts. It was not cooling. The repairman let American Home Shield know, and they told us what they would pay for a new one, and so we went from there. We got the new one straight from the Whirlpool factory. They brought it in. It was 1,395 and AHS paid 1,095. But that was 1,095 plus the 1,395, and that was not the way it was represented when we ordered it from Whirlpool. AHS paid 1,095 and we paid 1,395.

    We appreciate AHS covering 1,095 but the way it looked when we ordered it was it was 1,395 in all. It really upset Jim and he told the girl from Whirlpool that they needed to change the way they had it listed on their website. Other than that, I do have a new refrigerator. AHS had my washing machine fixed as well. Also, I would like to have the repairman that AHS sent out from now on. His name is Anthony. He was very top-notch.

    We used American Home Shield for plumbing. The company came out twice. They had to come back, but they took care of everything. They were good. They couldn't do anything because it's a solar water heater, and nobody in this area works on it. After that, I called everybody. They said they don't do it anymore. So, that was just an oddity, but AHS didn’t offer to replace the water heater. There's nothing wrong with the water heater. It was just a leak, and then we fixed that.

    The only thing is some of the companies are not from our city. They come from the neighboring cities which are about 45 minutes away. We're out in the middle of the desert. It’s just the vendors that they have to work with out here aren't as good and not as reliable. You get what you get. You're lucky to get anybody. It's just a little different than when we lived in California but it worked. So, so far, so good.

    Submitting a claim to AHS is easy. I do it online. Then I make a follow-up phone call, and they're very helpful. Home Shield did the best it could. We've had Home Shield for years and the price has gone up. It's not much different than just calling somebody local just to come and look. I use their website only for the initial inspection. If there's something to replace, Home Shield picks up the balance.

    American Home Shield used to be my favorite but every time there's something happening in my house, they say that I'm not covered. I had a water leakage. I called. I paid the amount for charge money but in the process of fixing the water leakage, there was a damage to the sheetrock. Getting anybody to fix that was an uphill battle. The primary problem is not a problem. Once you call them, they will fix on appointment. Getting the secondary problem resolved was what took me a long time twice.

    When my air conditioner wasn't working, I called and they sent somebody down only to find out that the air conditioner wires outside was cut by whoever was cutting my grass. The guy they sent wouldn’t touch it anymore from then on. I was left to resolve that problem. They didn't fix it. They didn't offer anything. They just left me hanging. Nobody came again.     The claim process with American Home Shield is fairly simple. I recently had a claim that was related to my central heating system. The tech arrived at the house and I showed him the problem. It looked like a thermostat issue. When I tried to turn the system on, it wouldn't come on. He went to the system after I showed him where it was, and he opened up the heater and found that the wires providing AC to the unit had burned. He fixed them and made sure everything worked. It was fast.

    All of my experiences with American Home Shield have been positive. When they can fix something, they say they can and they do it. If there's something that breaks that they don't work on or that's not covered, they let you know that. They provide an avenue that you can take to get that problem fixed, too. They're good. I have warranties from different stores like Lowe's and Home Depot. I use those warranties when they come free with the unit or with the appliance, and then after that warranty expires, then I switch over to American Home Shield because they seem to be better than the department store warranty.

    My sink was leaking and had gotten water all over my upstairs and it was leaking to my downstairs. The plumber that came out was excellent. He was really knowledgeable. He took time to show me what the problem was, where the problem was, and how he was going to fix the problem. So, that was a plus for him. He didn't say, "Okay, I know what that is. I'll just fix it myself."

    I normally call American Home Shield to set up a service request. My experience has been great. The only thing that I'm really disappointed about with American Home Shield is that they went up on my policy, which I didn't know. They said that they notified me three months ago by mail and maybe I overlooked it but when I started receiving my monthly payments, it went up about 20 something bucks, and I was like, "Okay, I wasn't supposed to pay that."

    With the last issue I had with my air conditioner, I was very disappointed with American Home Shield because they hardly covered anything. They say that they cover insurance for my air conditioner, but nothing was covered. I had to pay the $100 deductible and the tech came out and told me what the problem was. He didn't try to do anything.

    Overall, AHS is really expedient and knowledgeable, and there are some things that they really take care of. But as far as the air conditioner, I don't know why they wouldn't even wanna ask about replacing it instead of just trying to repair it. The repair itself, the guy told me it was gonna be over $3,500. A new unit is like 7,200. So, why would I spend 35 on repair when it could break down again next year instead of getting a new unit? They told me they didn't cover new units. So, that's one of the disappointing things about American Home Shield. I would not recommend them as far as air conditioners. I still haven't gotten the air conditioning fixed as a matter of fact. So, I paid the $100 deductible and nothing was done.

Any time I've had a problem, they've responded promptly and they've contacted the necessary knowledgeable persons who had expertise and provided assistance that way. Recently, I had a guy come out and check my junction box and my power, and it was fine. Before that, I called them about a water leak in a pipe in a small bathroom. That was all resolved. I did have a claim with an air conditioner. It was a cooling issue, and they paid for one pound of coolant, and then I had to pay for the rest of it. I wasn't aware that that was the case.     I recently had a claim when one of the burners on my stove was out so I needed that changed. The contractor who came out ordered the new burner, came back, and replaced it. He has come a couple of times to my house and he's a nice fellow. He's polite, on time, and he knows what he's doing. But I've had some problems with American Home Shield where the workman that came out didn't know what they were doing. I had to hire somebody else to do the job properly and pay them. When my air conditioning was out, I called them and the contractor who came out was telling me I had to dig up my backyard for him to come out and take a look at the pipes. He can't just tell me to do that and I have to pay to dig up my backyard. I called Air Around the Clock and they came out and they fixed my thing without having to dig up my backyard.

    Also, the online system for submitting claims is user friendly. It's just that it doesn't get down to some of the details that I want to enter the problem. There are some basic things to choose from but sometimes, I'd like to say something else. They give you a stove option and if you want to say that the hinge on the door is having a problem, there's no option to do that. I have to choose a burner or something. I just choose something and wait until somebody comes out then tell them the problem I'm having.

    This year was a real problem. We pay the year in full and we paid in full in May. They gave us a $100 discount but that did not get registered and they would not allow us to use the service. They kept calling telling me to call this number to resolve the $100 discount but they would say they got the $100 discount and they were processing it and everything was good. We went back and forth until I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint about this. Within 24 hours, AHS called me back and said they finally registered the discount and that I can use the services. But I lost about four months from not being able to use the service.

    Other than that, they are really good when we file a claim. The people that come to the house have always been terrific in servicing us. Recently, we thought our garbage disposal in the sink was bad. We had to have a guy come out and he fixed it in a couple of minutes. Also, they've done things in the past where our ice maker and refrigerator needed repair and the people they sent out did a fantastic job trying to fix that.

    Red Rock Heating fixed the problem quickly and the only thing I didn't like about American Home Shield was they wouldn't pay for the refrigerant that needed to be replaced. It's about $100 a pound and they pay $10. A couple of the contractors have been very good but some have been so-so. I've suggested AHS to friends and my sister already got it.

    We had some air ducts that were supposed to be attached to the vent. We have a mobile home. We live in Houston and we go out for the weekends to Livingston. We had to drive over there so that the repairman could come in and repair the ducts. He wasn't too thrilled about going under the mobile home and you could tell. He expressed it and when he did go under there, he came back and he said that he was gonna have to write a ticket so that someone else could come and repair it. I asked him why and he said that the ticket that AHS wrote was just to go and look at what the problem was and evaluate the problem. I told him I didn't understand why if I told them what the problem was.

    I called American Home Shield and they told me that the person who wrote the ticket wrote that the air conditioner was broken. I had paid the service fee for the first tech to come out which was 125 and then I had to pay another 125 for somebody else to come out. That person went down there and he himself said that he didn't think that they could fix it or that they needed to hire a different type of company. But he said that since it was something very minor, which was just connecting the duct to the vent under the mobile home, he said that he went ahead and did it. AHS owes me $125 and I've yet to receive it. It was a horrible experience. I'm in the process of trying to get my membership canceled. I requested it and they haven't done it yet.

    The contractors are a little slow but I haven't had any problems with getting anyone out to my house for any repairs. The techs repaired my pool equipment, a pool pump and pool heater as well as my washer and dryer.     Appliance Yikes is probably one of the most knowledgeable companies that I've come across. They've come out for our oven, washer-dryer, and stovetop range. After Covid, I put in another service and AHS told me to buy one at Lowe’s and then file for a refund. I ordered it online and then got it. I made sure AHS was gonna come and fix it but it’s not being done. I've been chasing that for a long time. One time, when they called, I gave all the frame measurements. They told me to give all those numbers and then they would give me how much. They would let me know but it's not happening. This is making me think twice because October is the yearly renewal.     I really like AHS. I know other people had terrible luck, but I've never had a really bad problem with any of them. I live up by Kings Canyon National Park. And to get the guys to come up to service my house or even to get anybody doing maintenance on it is a pain in the butt. But American Home Shield seems to find the guys that will come up to my area and do the work.

    I just had a guy up and fix my washing machine. The lid broke. Dave's Appliance was really good. He's done both my washer, dryer and my dishwasher. Recently, my wife painted the house.     My furnace fan was not coming on. When the fan is supposed to kick on, we heard a loud humming noise. My brother looked at it and told me that the fan wasn't jumping, so I called American Home Shield and they sent somebody out and they fixed it. After the rep put in all the information, she told me who it was, and they should be giving me a call within the next 24 hours to set up an appointment. They called me. Within about 7 hours, I had a phone call. I did not answer because it wasn't a number that I knew and it didn't show up as them, but they called me and scheduled me an appointment, and showed up when they were supposed to.

    They sent me a text message saying they were on the way and that they would be there in less than 10 minutes. They said, “Please put away dogs and pets or whatever if you have any.” The guy came and rang the doorbell. He told me who he was, and he had a young man with him who I guess was in training. He asked me what the issue was, and I told him. He said, “Okay, can you show me your thermostat?” He went to the thermostat. He went downstairs, and when he came up, he said, “Yeah. Your fan motor needs to be replaced.” He went to the truck, got some tools, took the fan out, took it to the truck, did what they had to do, brought it back in, and replaced it. He went back to the thermostat, kicked on the fan, and he said, “It's all done.”

    I've been with American Home Shield since 1990. I have had three issues that they resolved quickly, and mostly, it was because of the contractor that they sent out. I called them up and was like, “Look, I want a second opinion and I don't want this contractor sent back to my house.” They have obliged me. I've not seen those contractors anymore. I do know people that have had issues with them and dropped them, but I personally have not had any issues.

    I like that I can put in a ticket any time of a day or night or I can call them and let them know something's going on. They move quickly, as far as I'm concerned, with finding me somebody. Now, whether or not the person that they find moves quickly or not is another thing, but I've only had to call a contractor twice because they didn't call me within the timeframe. But if I called American Home Shield and let them know that I reached out and they haven't reached out to me, they'll reach out while I'm on the phone. If they don't get them, then they'll ask me if I wanna be assigned to somebody else. Two out of the three times, I said yes. They found me somebody else and I got my issue taken care of.

    I had one issue once with the refrigerator 12 years ago. They did a cash-out, which I thought was unfair. They eventually came back to me but by that time, I had replaced the refrigerator, so it was moot for me. Other than that, I have referred all of my family to American Home Shield because we don't have money, and we own houses, so it's like, “Okay. You can either try to come up with the money to get something repaired or you can pay them monthly and not worry about it anymore.” It makes sense to me for those that don't have money. For those who got money or emergency funds, it may not be worth it to you. But for me, it's worth it.

    My heat was not working on the first floor and I called AHS. AHS first sent Main Line but they kept on going back and forth, told me the vent was not okay. They would also not come on the line. I went to AHS again to send another vendor. They did not send another vendor. Each time I would call their customer service, they would say that they needed permission from their seniors, and someone would come back to me. This went on for a few days. I had no more patience. I just called a contractor on my own and got it fixed. There was nothing in the venting. It was the main furnace which was broken. I had to replace the heater. That was it.

    I deeply regret paying for several years for a home warranty plan with AHS. What a monumental waste of money! AHS uses shoddy contractors you've never heard of and always finds ways to decline to pay for services. It kept sending out random contractors to patch together my aging A/C unit as it continually leaked expensive freon I had to keep replacing. Why? To avoid replacing a system that clearly continued to malfunction. I finally had to hire a reputable company myself to install a new system. This is only one of the maddening experiences I had with AHS, and I had no positive experiences with AHS. I would not recommend AHS to anyone who wants to actually receive a benefit for the money they spend.

    When the hot water tank failed, it took American Home Shield several weeks to get the hot water tank. It was a simple thing. I could have ordered it myself, and I should have taken the cash out and done it myself. So sometimes, getting the approval to make a fix or repair is not straightforward and takes time. But it did get fixed and it works. I'm happy with it. Every time A-Fix has come out, it's been perfect. They've been great. They worked on my washing machine. The refrigerator door that I thought would never get fixed from other guys, they got a new hinge approved and put it in. They also put new seals on the door so they don't leak and there's no ice. They have done a great job for us. But American Home Shield keeps on changing the coverage every year and the rate went up 50% this year.

    My sister had American Home Shield first and told me about it. She died in 2021. My nephew still lives in the house and I take care of all my nephew’s needs and finances.     I had the claim for a hot water heater and they did the work. Everything came out fine. There was a little bit of a hassle with the claim because there had to be some upgrades that needed to be done. The old hot water heater wasn't up to code because it had been installed under different codes. As time passed, the codes had been updated. When the guys came out to give me an estimate or look at it to see what they needed to do, they said they had to upgrade some of the protections for the hot water heater. Initially, American Home Shield said they weren't gonna cover that. But then, my real estate agent and a couple of other people weighed in on the contract, and they finally convinced them that the contract said that they would cover it.

    Anybody that I've contacted over at American Home Shield has been helpful and respectful. I've been able to do what I need to do. The contractors did work and were diligent about getting the job done. They went right to work, got everything done in a timely fashion, and also cleaned up. Everything was fine. Everybody has been very positive.

    I don't like doing the claim by phone because when I get somebody, they have really thick accents. They speak English but they don't understand. So for the most part, I put my claim in online. When I needed a checkup, they charged me $100 for somebody to come out. But that company did not go. I was trying to reschedule with the company, but they never came out. I wanted to reschedule one, and American Home Shield charged me another $100 for the same company that didn't show up the first time. I had to fight to get that $100 back. When you want the $100 back, you have to call in and there's the language and communication barrier. So I'm not satisfied with American Shield at all. But their website is really good. I can find my contract and request service there.

    When we had an issue with one of our toilets, the claim went well. But when it goes well, it is not American Home Shield. It is the person they had. Nothing about American Home Shield impresses me. But the companies that come out sometimes are very impressive. They are on time and quick to respond. We have a service out for our AC unit that needs to be repaired, and the company is supposed to be local. But the company that American Home Shield chose to outsource their call center. So there was a communication thing again. I don't want to disparage about that, but it's truly why I won't go with American Home Shield anymore. When I had a claim for the AC, I paid $100 for the contractor to come out but I still had to pay $1,000. So I'm dumping money into American Home Shield.

    Home Shield's customer service was very nice. I told them what I needed and saw what they had available to come to do the repairs. I had them send someone out to repair my refrigerator. The magnet on the refrigerator wore out. The techs came and they replaced it. They fixed everything very well. I had them fix my icemaker on it as well.

    A man who came to do the second repair for my standup freezer was supposed to check my chest freezer because the light is on but it's not freezing. I was asking him to check to see if it was low in Freon. He was like, "No, no, no." And I was like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. 'Cause you're supposed to check it." He didn't check it. When he got ready to leave, he said I had to call Home Shield and talk to them. I didn't even bother with it anymore. But I'm still gonna have to call them for someone to come out and check my deep freezer to see if it is Freon or if it's something else. That was supposed to have been on a work order that I called in already. Calling in again means Home Shield is gonna charge me another service fee. Every time I call, I have to pay $100. I'm not paying twice for something that the tech was supposed to do when I called the first time.

    Another thing is Home Shield went up on my monthly charge. I have them where the payment is automatically drafted. The price went up from $67 to 84. I question why it went up and why nobody told me about it. The only way I knew was when I checked my bank account to see what was being deducted. I saw the different charges. I called Home Shield to question them about that and they said it was an across-the-board raise. The price is pretty reasonable but if they're gonna go up on the price, they need to inform me in some way. That aside, I am not dissatisfied with my home warranty.

    The washing machine had an error code and the original contractor called and I wasn't happy with the phone call I had with them. So, I called American Home Shield and asked them if they could reassign the contractor to one that I had worked with previously. My dryer had broken and I liked that contractor.     American Home Shield sent this company to fix the system and it was fixed. But a day later, it was down again. So, they sent the repair guy back in two more days. When he came out, he said the coils were going bad in it, and it needed Freon. They replaced the fan on it and I'm not satisfied. It wasn’t put in professionally. It knocked some time when I turned the system on before it went down completely. They had to order a part and I waited a little over two weeks. They said they ordered it from AHS so I said I would call them. I did and AHS said they never ordered the part.

    The people never gave AHS the order or there was some kind of mix-up that they didn't know that they weren’t supposed to order the part. I didn't understand what was going on. It didn't make any sense. But American Home Shield said they would order the part. Then ordered the part and we paid for the Freon because they said we had to pay for it. And it's been over a month. The guy came out today and it was the wrong part that was ordered. He said he gave AHS the number of the coil. He showed me the coil and where the number was. It was big and bold, and nobody can make a mistake of that and AHS got it wrong.

    I've been inconvenienced without a system for over a month and it's totally unacceptable the way things have been going. I'm not happy. I've been in my home for over 30 years and that's what got me so upset because I've been with American Home Shield for so long. I got them right after I moved into my home and I never had a major problem. This is a major problem and it's been like Laurel and Hardy. It's been goof-up after goof-up.

    It's been good with American Home Shield. I'm in the process of doing another claim and everything's going smoothly. They do a good job as far as getting everybody out there. They take care of their business. I had them way back. It didn't go smoothly, and I left. Then a friend of mine has had them for 12 years, and they got him a new fridge. It sounded like they changed. This time around, they already fixed my washer. One of the pipes went out in the back. They went in, put a new pipe, and had a guy come out, plaster the wall and put it back together. Now, my compressor went out on the refrigerator. That's covered so they're gonna come out today and supposed to be installing the compressor into my refrigerator.

    I needed electrical work but American Home Shield only uses one electrician in the area where I live. That company came out to my house before. But it was unpleasant and made me so uncomfortable as well as frightful, I told AHS I did not want that company, Kelly Brother's Electric, in my home again. So, they said they would find me another vendor to come take care of my light fixture problem. I called them again and they sent me an email that I could find my own vendor to come and do the work with their approval. So, I did. The tech came and examined whatever the problem was, called AHS. After he told them what the problem was, that the ceiling fan with the light fixture would need a replacement because it was almost 20 years old, and asked him what his fee would be, he said he would charge 200.

    I was allowed 400 for the light fixture. So, I did and I forwarded that to them. It was either let me pay the electrician that came, or he could file with AHS. But they don't want to deal with AHS. They're a very good company. But according to him, AHS doesn't like to pay. So, I bit the bullet. I'm waiting on my $600 for the light and $200 for the labor from AHS. I want my reimbursement back. Because if not, the man wouldn't do the work at my home. Because no reputable electrical vendors want to have anything to do with AHS, except Kelly Brother's Electric, and they are terrible. AHS doesn't have an adequate amount of qualified vendors in the area.

    I dealt with American Home Shield for over a year to have the air conditioning fixed. They sent a person out last year to fix it but the guy didn't do the job correctly, so the AC didn't work. He didn’t know what he was doing. It took another several months to get somebody else out there to fix it and hours of phone calls and frustration. The customer service is horrible and the resolution department is the worst. All the customer service people you call are from some foreign country and barely understand English.

    Amazing Comfort was the last one that I had just on the 23rd. It was a great experience as always. The tech replaced my thermostat because it didn't communicate with my HVAC system and caused my gas bill to increase every year. But for the washer, it took them several months, because they said they ordered parts and they never contacted me. When I contacted them and AHS contacted them, they said they were missing the part and had to wait. Now it's three weeks, and the part is still not there. But they didn't say anything. It went on for another month before AHS got that contractor to come back out to finish the job. But it's still shaking, so I need to call back AHS because they just did it two weeks ago. But for the refrigerator, it was fine.

    American Home Shield had to replace one of the two heating units. The contractor explained the system and it was great dealing with them. The repair is not done yet. They'll be here tomorrow, hopefully, to get everything done. AHS is worth the money. But sometimes, when I call, I have people that I can't understand as far as their accent. I just need more English people where they don't have to continue to repeat themselves so I can understand what they're telling me or asking me.

    It's very easy to submit a claim. And American Home Shield is good, but sometimes the follow through with the companies aren't the best, like when I had them come out for a broken microwave. They didn't call back for almost two months and I had to follow through. And when they sent the new microwave because they said they couldn't find the part for my old one, it didn't fit. So they gave me a gift card to Lowe's and I'll buy my own. It's my house so I will have to follow through. But if they had one person in charge of each account that can review things. Other than that, everyone that I talked to through AHS is nice. They go the extra mile and would call me back.

    We have been customers of American Home Shield for over 15 years. Our water heater went out, so we contacted them and they sent out a contractor. The contractor determined the water heater was defective and would need replaced. I did receive the estimate and our out-of-pocket expense was $1405. I asked for an explanation of why this isn’t covered and they said because it’s modifications and permits. I’m being charged $200 to replace a shutoff valve on top of the water heater, another $250 to replace the hot water line on top of the water heater and another $250 to replace the cold waterline on top of the water heater.

    The additional $705 is categorized under replace water heater. But nobody can break down that $705 for me. I’m just told it’s modifications and it’s not covered. I asked where the coverages for install of the water heater, they said it’s in there. Nowhere is anything listing where install is covered. The price of water heater they say they will cover it is to be determined. I asked for a cash out and they offer me $561.68 to replace and install an 80 gallon electric water heater. So according to American Home Shield, I can get an 80 gallon water heater purchased and installed for less than the cost of replacing two waterlines. This is the worst Service I have ever received from them and so disappointed. I asked to speak to supervisors and they told me I would just be getting the same answer. Beware. I still have 10 days to decide which option is what I’m going to go with.

    One and only refrigerator in the home broke on Monday. Do have to keep medicine in it. I was finally contacted after several calls by a appliance company that came out on Thursday and said he could not fix it. Warranty company is now wanting to send someone else out but they have been unable to find anyone to dispatch or take the job to even set up an appointment with me.     I received this hot water heater through my AHS. In 2021 several. 2022 had to have repair. 2023. The tank seal had a leak that caused the thermostat to malfunctioned causing a fire. Tank had a leak that wet the coils. AHS had the tank replaced with the same product. October 12. On October 23 the thermostat went out again. AHS had the thermostat replaced. Not even 24 hours later today October 25. Yet again the hot water heater isn’t functioning properly. Waiting for the plumber to come out again today. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT.

    I was having problems with a ceiling fan making too much noise. I did the claim online and the process was pretty straightforward. It takes you from one step to the next. It's simple and I'm not the most computer-savvy person in the world. So, it worked out fine. Later on, the contractor set up an appointment. They told me that the electrician would give me a call a half-hour before he showed up, but it was gonna be between 10:00 and 12:00. When he was here, he turned on the fan and said that the fan was out of balance. So, he worked on getting it balanced. There were some problems that the fan blades were all warped, but he was able to get it to where it would be quiet. He was very professional and personable. He listened and communicated well, and told me everything that was going on. They did a great job. My policy with American Home Shield is pretty comprehensive. So, if anything goes wrong, it's probably covered under the policy.

    This company feels like a scam. I've had electricians and HVAC come. With the electricians, I was given an exaggerated quote (e.g. having to go through drywall to run new circuits) to resolve an issue. The 2nd guy was similar but didn't include the drywall need. None of this made since, I am an electrical engineer, so I called my own electrician. The fix was simple and less than $300. Replacing the a 20A with a 30A at the breaker. No new circuits needed.

    Now, I need a furnace replaced. The guy provides an amount for my portion. That cost is literally the same amount I was quoted without going through AHS. I ask what the total was and it's twice as much as other quotes. Either the contractor is inflating prices and/or AHS isn't actually paying for anything. They are just charging me the actual cost and making it sound like the balance is paid by AHS. Either way, I'm cancelling this. In both instances, I've wasted hundreds of dollars on service fees only to hire my own repair people...

    American Home Shield's website is pretty easy to use. You log in to go to submit a claim and then you pick the specific item in the category. You say what's wrong and hit submit. Then it goes out to whoever they're contracted with and then the contractor contacts you to set up the appointment. When our air conditioner was making an awful screeching noise, I submitted the claim early in the morning and I had a call by that same day to set up an appointment for the contractor to come out and look at it. So it was very quick and efficient. When the tech came out, he tested it out to make sure it was making the noise. Then he had to replace a motor in the fan part. Within 40 minutes, the issue was resolved.

    With an older home, there are a lot of expensive things that can go wrong. Even with the cost of the premium and when you add in the service charge for them to come out, you still come out ahead on the repair side. You don't have to repair each individual item on your own. It ends up being more cost-effective. But we had some major appliances that we had to replace, and it was a struggle. We had a Thermador oven and the part went out. They stopped making the part about 10 years ago, so it wasn't fixable. American Home Shield wanted to give us a basic Whirlpool white oven. So it was not replacing apples to apples.

    It was a fight to even get a little bit of a higher model. So that was disappointing. We were under the impression that they would replace with the like model. I understand it might not be the highest model, but something comparable in the same line as far as brand items. But that was not the case. That was the most frustrating part. but overall, American Home Shield covered things that needed to be covered. The experience has been good.

    When the contractor came to look at our AC he even said they never cover anything and they always refuse to pay. I had to call my credit card company to stop them from taking the monthly charges. I heard from the credit card agent that, "Oh I have had many people call with the same problem as you about them not covering anything and refusing to fix things and also not stopping taking monthly payments." WORSE WARRANTY COMPANY I HAVE DEALT WITH. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Don't waste your money.

    American Home Shield has been excellent. I have been continuing with them every year since 2017. They send me an annual contract at renewal time and I read it thoroughly. I have also been targeted by competitors, but they don't offer as lucrative a coverage even though they have deep discounted cost. I look at them, but it's not worth my moving away from American Home Shield. I've been exceptionally satisfied. I've had a couple of claims in past years and it's always been an easy process. My most recent claim was for a plumbing issue in my master bathroom. I submitted it through the American Home Shield portal, and it was the best user experience that I've had online.

    The contractor was terrific. They responded within 30 minutes of my claim being filed to ask me what was going on and to verify my availability so they could send a technician out. It was fantastic. The technician who came told me what he was going to do and showed me visually where the problem was. It was a very minor drain problem as well as some issue with the fixture itself having parts that were corroded. The technician didn't have the correct parts on his truck, but he ordered it right there in front of me and, in less than two days, the part came in and they came back to reinstall it. They kept me in the loop every step.

    One of the circuits dropped out in the house. I went out and I could not reset the breaker. I did not want to replace the circuit breaker myself, so I called American Home Shield. It was easy to get through, but it was after hours. So, it was all automated. That made it a little more of a challenge for me, but it all worked out. All American Electric Services came out. They were able to reset the breaker. So, I learned something. The tech was a good guy. We went out there together and I watched him reset it, and then we reset it again. I'm very satisfied with AHS. It's one call to get service. I don't have to look up each individual plumber or electrician. It's worth it, especially if you have an older home. I'd recommend it to others.

    I had a Kenmore washing machine, and on August 3rd, a request was sent to American Home Shield and I paid my $100 for deductible. They immediately issued a company called Axis, a plumbing repair company. But I did not look up the reviews on that company and I just set it up. At six weeks after I've been calling Axis and trying to find out what was going on and asking for help, a supervisor called me at that point.

    When I first called Axis, they said, “Oh, we've ordered one part for your machine.” I said, “The repairman says there's three parts to be ordered. What's going on?” They said, “We'll research it.” So, three weeks later, they ordered the parts. I did not let American Home Shield know what was going on at that point. So, I waited. They got the parts. They finally scheduled me October 3rd for a repairman to come out. So, from August 5th to October 3rd, I was doing without my Kenmore machine.

    I paid a company to come out because I'm disabled and I put my Samsung in. The diagnosis was that the axle was broke on the machine, the bearings were bad on the first machine. The same thing happened with the second machine. I called American Home Shield at that point, which was around end of September and paid another $100. Then American Home Shield sent out a company called RPS. That company had a 5-star rating, where Axis had a 0.5 rating.

    While I'm trying to deal with Axis, they sent out a repairman at the end of September. He had eBay parts and two new parts because they were in brown boxes. I know that eBay is refurbished parts. At this point, I called American Home Shield, and I was mad. I asked for a supervisor and American Home Shield has the policy that 24 to 48 hours, they'll call you. If you don't answer the phone, then they're gonna leave a message and call you within 24 to 48 hours again. This process is very annoying. Because supervisors do not just handle it in a timely manner unless they're still backed up on problems. It takes 48 hours to call me.

    Around September 25th to October 3rd, both of my washing machines are broken. My water heater goes out in between them. I paid another $100. American Home Shield sent out a plumbing company and they had a very high rating. They immediately fixed the water heater. I have no problem. With the Samsung washing machine that was diagnosed broken, the technician said he couldn't repair it. So American Home Shield immediately sent me to the department that buys you out on your appliance. I was happy with those claims. American Home Shield was very, very generous on their buy-out compared to Choice. Choice lowballs you on the buy-out, but American Home Shield gives you the market price for the appliances, which is a very fair and good policy.

    I got my gift card to Lowe’s within three days. Then I bought a new machine and it was delivered. But I'm still stuck with this Kenmore machine that is broken. Around October 3rd, a new ticket was entered, I just blew my top and told American Home Shield that I wanted to talk to a supervisor. The representative connected me to a supervisor. But somehow he got it mixed up on the Kenmore that I didn't want that machine repaired anymore and canceled my original August 5th problem. Then they issued a new ticket out dated October 3rd. So, I was very annoyed at that. I told them, “No, you're wrong. Go look at a August 5th repair job. It's never been fixed.” I must have made 10 calls to American Home Shield at this point.

    About four days ago, I finally got a phone call from American Home Shield regarding that original August 5th Kenmore machine problem. But now, I've got a brand-new machine all plugged in and I'm happy with that, but I need the other one taken care of. With the diagnosis from Axis that they needed to put the three parts in, they came out that second time with their technician around the end of September. The technician was literally banging with a hammer on my washing machine trying to get the parts out because he told me that it was so rusted. He couldn't even get the old parts out to put the new ones in. He said, “Ma'am, I can't fix it. I'm gonna have to talk to a supervisor.” I told him, “At this point, I would like to talk to the department that maybe buys machines out. Because now, I'm thinking he's caused a bigger problem. I don't mean to offend you, but please tell them I'm disabled, I can't be dealing with this anymore.”

    Axis sent a note two days later in my text message that they have ordered a 4th part and that they're gonna wait for that part to come in. I've called them between the 3rd and the 18th to find out the status of the fourth part and it's never been in. So, I called American Home Shield and I was angry again because of the way this Kenmore washing machine was being handled. The first supervisor I talked to at American Home Shield told me that their policy is that the repairman has parts, so I need to give him a chance to fix it and allow another repairman to come in and put the parts in. Then if I have a problem, then they will deal with the issue.

    When I talked to the first supervisor, I gave him the whole details and the line cuts off. I held on for about 15 minutes and finally, the call disconnects and that call was over. I thought the supervisor was gonna call me back but he did not. He called back a half a day later and I left a message for me saying, “I'll call you again within 24 to 48 hours.” So, it was another 24 to 48 hours.

    Benjamin, the second supervisor, called me back yesterday and I had to go through every detail with him again. I told him that I don't trust Axis. Every two appliances have been taken care of and Kenmore washing machine is still not fixed. We go round and round. Benjamin told me that my paperwork was wrong. After going into great detail with all this, his bottom line was, “Well, the repairman has the fourth part. Axis says you have not been returning their call to let them come out to put all four parts in the Kenmore.” So I must give Axis a third access to my home to fix the Kenmore washing machine.

    I called Axis and asked four times to talk to their supervisors but I never could get anybody with authority. They said, “We'll call you back. We have dispatch. We have our rules. You can't talk to anybody.” I told American Home Shield about all of this. But American Home Shield just said, “Well, you have to give them another try.” I explained to the rep very calmly, “I do not want an eBay part in the washing machine. You're setting me up to have drips again, more rust, water in my garage.” I gave him great detail, step by step, of what was gonna happen. But he held on to, “No, you must do this.”

    I told the rep, “Look, where is the accountability of AHS? Why are you not being accountable for what the first supervisor said? Now, you're telling me the same thing.” I made him look up the notes in the August 5th account. He said, “Yes, ma'am, the same notes they’re entering is what I'm entering.” I said, “Why am I having to go through this again?” Now, I was raising my voice and getting very high stress and my blood pressure was going up. I told him that I do not feel protected by American Home Shield.

    The rep was trying to shove this other company down my throat. He said, “Well, we can do one of two things. You can either let him come out, put the four parts in, or we'll buy you out.” I asked him why he did not offer me that option an hour ago when this started. This was his second call to me. He said, “Well, I'll send it to the buy-out department. They'll contact you. We have our procedures.” Then I calmed down and I said, “Thank you. I appreciate y'all company. I appreciate being a customer of yours. You have always taken care of me and I just don't know what has happened on this issue.” So, he was very nice to me at this point. Everything works out okay at the end.

    American Home Shield recently sent Helios Air to work on our AC. They were able to fix it and we didn't have any complaints about it. It was done timely. So, that was great. We're pleased with AHS. It's different than the other home repair programs that we've had. With this one, you have to pay $100 and something per visit. The other one does not include that, but this one also had a little bit of a wider range of things that were covered without having to add extra things to it. We're happy with it.

    Whenever we had an issue, they were always here quickly. Thankfully, we didn't need them very often. The only thing is when it was time for us to renew, it felt like I got so many phone calls. I was bombarded with, "Your time is almost up. Let's do this." We haven't decided yet. Then I got quite a bit of things in the mail, too. It was too much reminding. We did not need that. Other than that, the people that I spoke to when we decided to renew were very helpful, but that was me calling them. The outbound seemed to be a little bit of a nuisance.

    The contractor came out when the AC unit was not working. They looked at it and one of the units wasn't working. My mother said that the unit upstairs was dripping through the ceiling. So something was wrong with something up there and then the outside unit that pushed the air was out. They were very nice but they didn't seem to be as knowledgeable about it as one of the other contractors that we ended up using that American Home Shield sent out. They had to replace the outside unit and then they had to order a part that was for the upstairs unit also.

    American Home Shield has been fine. When we had an issue with appliances, we submitted a request online. If it was a covered appliance, then there was never a question on them covering the repair. It auto charged the credit card on file for the $100 deductible and somebody came out in a day or two and fixed it. It was really easy. The technicians were good and everybody was professional. They normally called the day of and then scheduled an appointment for a day or two later. They came out on time. They were clean.

    the only thing is American Home Shield has been raising the monthly premiums. It started out at 60 bucks a month and it's up to 90. They are jumping it. That's really the one thing where I'll have to start determining whether or not it's worth the $90 a month for the coverage. Beyond that, I don't have any complaints. I'm sure a lot of the increase is just inflation-based.

    At first, American Home Shield's response time wasn't that good. Now, it's gotten better. The response is usually within 24 hours. They sent Blue Tech and they fixed a leaking faucet. The whole claim process took a couple of days. The technician was professional. He communicated when he was gonna arrive or what time it was estimated that he was gonna be on site.     I went with American Home Shield for the name and the service I received prior to the times I've used them in the years. It's easy to go to their website if you want to schedule an appointment. It's very user-friendly. I submitted a service request and they came out and addressed my washer and dishwasher issues in separate instances. The washing machine would not spin and the dishwasher would not turn on. They fixed the washer. As for my dishwasher, it was just a matter of fixing the lock on it. That took about an hour.     I live alone and I got Home Shield because I need everything working. When something is not working, I need it to be fixed and I want somebody reputable.     I requested for a plumbing service and the person that I talked to provided excellent customer service. Then they sent me a text letting me know who the contractor would be and that I would be receiving a call from that contractor. They had to replace the commode that was cracked and fix the faucet. He knew what the problem was by just listening to what the issue was. I had to get a whole new dishwasher. I picked one out and it took a week and a half to get the new dishwasher. The first person that American Home Shield sent out was a not competent person. It was some company out of Memphis. I called and talked to them about that, and they fixed the issue. They sent another person out. He had the installation done in 45 minutes and then he cleaned up everything. The dishwasher works fine.

    The garage door opener wasn't working properly and wasn't responding to the remotes. I submitted a service request to American Home Shield using their online claim submission program. The claims process was very easy. I was given the contractor's phone number, and how to contact them. I was told that they would contact me telling me when they would be coming and everything after the initial claim would be between me and the contractor. Their office contacted me and we verified the next available service call. Once that was established, the service tech called me when he was on the way. He had to revise a couple of times but each time he did, he called me and said, "Look, this is taking longer than I thought. I'll be later. Is it okay if I change our appointment?"

    Once he arrived, the interaction was great. The guy was great, super knowledgeable, and did a great job. He told me that not everything that needed to be fixed was covered under the warranty. He said, "Here's the things that I can do that are under the warranty. And then it's up to you whether I do the other work that would improve the operation." It will not really necessary make the door open or work properly, but it will be better for it if I do these things. So, it wasn't like he was trying to upcharge me or talk me up for something. It was indeed a necessary repair. It's been a long time since anything had been done to this door. He did say I had the option of just keeping to the warranty's covered items, or I had the option of doing other things.

    I've used AHS several times and I find it easy to use and the company is more than reasonable with repair versus replace. The quality of the companies that they use to do the work has always been good. I'd definitely recommend AHS. It's been super. I'm gonna keep it. It's been more than worth the money. I have recommended it to a lot of people, and a lot of times it surprises me that people don't even know that there's an option to have a home warranty. When they find out, then they're very interested.

    My experience with them has been pretty good. My most recent claim was air conditioner-related and the techs did a good job. While their techs do good work once they get out there, sometimes, it takes them a little while to get out. Last time, it was two days before they could get out there. Also, they called me and I didn't answer the phone. I called them back in five minutes and they didn't answer their phone. I called back five other times and they never answered either. Consequently, I had to reset another appointment for another two days later. All in all, I was without my air conditioning for four days. But once the techs came, they fixed the unit and everything was good.

    But I enjoy the fact that AHS always answers. Their reps are always extremely nice on the phone. They're always very helpful and my issue always gets resolved.

The techs provided sufficient service and I watched them through both processes. They explained what they were doing. Do your research and compare other companies with AHS. They could do better with their response time getting someone on site and with the expansion of their vendor pool. They could also do better with covering things that appear to be in my policy but have not been covered when the techs show up on site.

    As of right now, everything is okay with American Home Shield. I've made contact with who I needed to come out, and they got in contact with me. If they weren't able to handle a certain situation, then they've passed on down to whoever is next. I have somebody coming out today to look into the issue and see whatever else that needs to be tightened up or finished up. But so far, so good. The very first guy that I had was very knowledgeable. He had the little hospital slip-on shoes, which was nice and respectful. He knew what the issue was by just a few details and analyzing. He was great. With the other situation that's gonna happen today with my piping, he said that I was gonna need my pipes to be redone or replaced to get it to drain correctly. The second team that came out snaked it. I didn't need it to be snaked, but it was still a good thing because that cleaned out the line anyway.

    The customer service has been great. We made a list of certain things that we wanted to have taken care of, but we couldn't get them all done at the same time. They're all for their own individual categories. But with the coverage that we have, I thought it would be something that would take care of that. We put a big for lump it, and then we can't do what we want there.

    In one of my claims, American Home Shield opted to give me $600 because I opted to get a particular appliance fixed outside of the auspices of American Home Shield. But the technician that they sent for my air conditioning told me I should give him $4,000. He was going to install a brand-new air conditioning for me and after he did, I gave him $4,000. But it never worked. So, I lost my $4,000.I've done everything I could to communicate with them and they don't even respond to my communication anymore. They are licensed both in Maryland and in Virginia, so, I am going to pursue legal action. So, I've got mixed feelings about American Home Shield because I got that tech thru them.

    Despite that, I still have AHS. The price is too much for me but so far, the other techs that came to my house to work on my appliances did a fantastic job. Even those with the language barrier are still very professional. I recently had a claim for my refrigerator and the freezer couldn’t freeze and even the part that would get cold would buzz. The alarm would buzz because it was not getting cold enough, so I had to go and stop the alarm. So, the techs fixed it and now, the freezer is freezing. And the top part that gets cold to refrigerate the food started working, so there’s no more buzzing. But it took a long time before they fixed the refrigerator because American Home Shield ordered a part and when the part came, the part was damaged. So, the technician sent it back to the American Home Shield and they had to reorder the same part the second time. Finally, when it came, they fixed it with the second new part.

    Everything is at the website. So, it was easy to do a claim online. My washer wasn't spinning and draining. With the dryer, I just needed a filter. But I couldn't take the filter off, so I had to call American Home Shield to get the filter. One time I had put a claim in for my furnace, and they sent Sears out. AHS said they couldn't send anybody else out, and I tried to figure out why. But they sent Sears out, and Sears didn't look at it and just marked it as damaged so I could try to get something from them. They tried to get me to buy a new furnace.

    When I tried to tell the AHS people that, they told me I have to give them another $125 for them to come out and do another look at it. I said, "Why do I gotta give you another $125 when they didn't even look at it?" They need to get better contractors. Some of them come out but don't look at the things that need to be fixed. And whenever they send back to AHS, AHS would just agree with whatever they would say. I don't like that. They should ask both parties, but they don't.

    I had a claim for the washing machine and the contractor came out and disassembled it. Then they repaired the part and put it back together and it worked fine. Recently, the control panel on the dishwasher control board went belly up. The contractor was able to get the parts and put it back together and it's working fine. The tech was a really good guy. The diagnosis was fairly quick. It took him a while to get the parts, but it was done as quickly as possible. He knew what he was doing. We've made a monthly payment to American Home Shield for four years and it was $100 for them to come diagnose the issue. For me, it's still a good deal. It was just a phone call and they came and took care of it both times. So, for us being a rental property, it really made sense.

    I sent in a claim for the refrigerator. Best Way came out and they found that the issue was the water line on the refrigerator. But they didn't fix it yet. It messed up my whole downstairs bedroom. It was the second time that the same tech was supposed to fix it but he didn't. This plumbing issue happened with the same issue that he said he fixed the first time. Best Way sent out people that didn't speak English, and they didn't understand what I was saying and I didn't know what they were saying. I was willing to wait for them to fix the refrigerator so that they could send me someone who speaks English. But the same tech is coming back again tomorrow.

    American Home Shield should improve the way they assist when you call. The customer service reps don't listen to you. They just listen to the contract. I've been paying American Home Shield for two years and never had a problem till now. They should have been a little bit more caring about what was going on in my household.

    American Home Shield needs to hire competent people and to stop outsourcing. When they send me somebody competent, that's fine. But when they send me somebody that is incompetent, that's not good. They seem to hire the cheapest and incompetent people. I had a situation where my food in the refrigerator was ruined. The guy who hardly spoke English came out and said, “I can't find what's wrong.” The report he sent to AHS was he found nothing wrong. So, it looked like there was nothing wrong with the refrigerator, which wasn't the case. They said, “We can send somebody from GE out, but it'll cost you more money.” It shouldn't. But I paid it. And GE said, “It's shot. You gotta replace the refrigerator. It cannot be fixed.” So, I had to pay for that second diagnosis. They gave me a partial payment.

    I also had somebody come up here one time to look at my air conditioning unit. Bad English. And all I could understand is, “Your roof is too high. I can't go up there.” And he didn't even get on the side of the house to check it. He just looked at it from the side from a distance, and left. And it was a big battle with AHS because they said, “Your roof is too high. We won't cover it.” I said, “It's not too high.” He said it is. I said, “What's the maximum?” They said 12 feet.

    I said, “I just had my roofer come over to my house because he was in the neighborhood and he measured it at 10 feet.” And they said, “We can't do anything about it because that's what the guy said.” I said that was not acceptable. There was one air conditioning guy they sent out that was good. But they didn't give me a choice. “Can we send you somebody who's been there before?” They just assign somebody. I just got my renewal, and what I found out was, “We'll replace your air conditioning.” And the fine print was, “We'll only give you up to $5,000.” I pay $1,000 a month with AHS. It's too much money.

    The same company, Amazing Comfort, had come back three times for my AC but it was for three different things, which was understandable. It all happened within a month. At first, the capacitor had an issue, then something came loose inside the condenser, and then the thermostat failed. Everybody did what they said they were going to do and I would recommend them. Everybody knew what they were doing and took care of business. They started at the bottom and worked their way to the top. They were very professional and had trucks representing them well.

    The first tech was very quick and the second guy who came out was an apprentice-like who went through the ropes, which I don't have any problem with. He did it in a timely fashion and answered our question. And the third guy, I really don't know how long it took but he solved my problem. Two of them called me when they were done, and I appreciated that. They also called me before they came and told me what they did and when they left. My only complaint with AHS is my monthly price keeps going up. I started at 26.99 and looking at my credit card, it's 40.99 now. So I was a little shocked. I chose the package I did because I didn't expect much troubles because I handle most stuff myself. And I expected a lower premium because I had chosen the higher deductible. Other than that, I'm happy with American Home Shield.

    I purchased my home and called before the settlement date. American Home Shield was the only home warranty to start service on Thursday for new homeowners. All other home warranty companies start after 30 days. American Home Shield is also a well-known company. I heard from my real estate agent and my colleague.

    I recommend this home warranty, especially for the first year. When I moved in, I used four services in the first 30 days. The first service was for a gas leak, which was urgent. The gas company came and shut off my gas meter and valve. American Home Shield didn't consider that urgent because the gas company already shut off the valve. They sent a plumber after two days. I didn't have gas for water heater and for cooking during those days. The microwave didn't work either. I called American Home Shield and complained about that. They said they didn't consider it urgent because it was not leaking at the moment.

    When the plumber came, he couldn't fix the issue so he called a master plumber. He came and they fixed the issue. They replaced the piece of pipe and I called the gas company and they came to open the valve. I was supposed to be charged extra for the service because another plumber was sent but I told the company they didn't send the right plumber.

    When the electric panel of my microwave didn't work, I made the claim online and that was good. It was almost easy. The contractor sent me a text message. They didn't fix the microwave on the first visit. They didn't bring the piece of equipment. Even if I entered the model number, they didn't notice. I had to wait one week for the piece to arrive and then someone else came to do the installation a week after the piece came. The tech was very good and quick. Everything is good so far.

    I would recommend American Home Shield. My brother also has a policy with them and it was send a link and get a gift card. I did that. It's tricky to get in touch with someone initially. But once you get the reps on the phone, they're usually helpful. I had a couple of issues back when we did that thing last summer with the air conditioner when the person on the phone wasn't able to help me and would need a supervisor to take over the call, and I would expect a callback from AHS, "Someone will call you back before the end of business today." But I wouldn't receive a callback and I would have to call myself.

    The problem is I'm sure it's a call center and if I had a specific problem that I was working on, if it was a claim, there would be a claim number, but they don't make great notes. So, I would have to explain my situation multiple times to every person that I would get transferred to. If this person couldn't help me in this department and they transferred me over, I gotta go through the entire thing again. Just be, "I've had this policy and now I'm running into this problem. And this person told me this." Because I would also have varying answers to questions sometimes.

    It is frustrating to spend 50 minutes on the phone and be transferred from person to person. And in the end, that person would say, "We have to speak to this department, and we'll get back to you," but no one would because there are no direct phone numbers, extensions or anything that I could call. So, if that person doesn't call me back, I would be left in the lurch and have to figure it out again.

    AHS needs to have a dashboard. I called last week because I tried to get a copy of my billing statement and I couldn't get a copy of it online. It's 2023. I should be able to get everything. So, I looked at accounting purposes. Because I tried to do the chat first, the chat people told me they couldn't do anything and I had to call in.

    When I called in, they were supposed to mail me a statement but I still haven't received it. That was a week ago. Everything that has to do with my policy should be available on the website for me to freely print if I needed it. It's a waste of resources. It's a waste for me to have to call someone and ask them to print something and mail it to me in 2023. I said I urgently needed because we were filing our taxes. Also, I shouldn't have to take up AHS' customer service resources by needing a piece of paper. That should be something that's easily accessible because they could have that customer service person that I spent 15 minutes on the phone with help another person with their broken washing machine.

    We've done everything from air conditioning, furnace, hot water heater, to stovetop and microwave. It's easy when it's a small appliance or when it's just a quick and easy fix. But when we need to replace something, it's complicated. I've had our oven fixed three times over 15 years. It's usually just some standard small part that needs to be ordered and they come in, troubleshoot, figure out what it is, order the part, come back and fix it, and it's done. And we have replaced our furnace, hot water heater, and air conditioning condenser. And for those things, it feels every time there were additional fees that didn't make any sense.

    For instance, when we redid our hot water heater, they tried to make us get a permit from the town for the hot water heater and they wanted us to do all these different regulatory things that weren't necessary when we spoke to a licensed plumber we knew. So, they couldn't cover the full amount. To buy and install the hot water heater was $1,500. "We can give you $850, and you can have someone else install it yourself, or you can pay our person who we send the $1600." It happened recently. Our air conditioning condenser was replaced in 2017. And last summer, it didn't work and it had a warranty on it. So, we dealt half with AHS and half with the company that we purchased it from. It was something that had a 20-year warranty and they weren't willing to work with the manufacturer of the item. They paid me out $800 and it cost 2,000 to fix it. It's always like that with the bigger items. And some of it makes sense.

    It leaked Freon and the company that AHS enlisted to do this job for me refused to take the Freon because there's a way for you to reuse it. Some companies would siphon it out, put it aside, make the repair for what was leaking, and put back whatever was still in the tank that they pulled out. This company refused to do that. They said that I had to pay and AHS covers two pounds of Freon and this required 15. So, it was $42 a pound. I had to decide.

    We got an HVAC person that we knew who would pull out the Freon and put it on the side, fix the leak, put the Freon and top it off. I still had to pay him 500 extra dollars aside from what AHS gave me. They wanted $3,600 to do the job completely. And that's why I had to work the system. I would have to take whatever their payout is and pay the difference, which is okay. But I am paying $900 a year for this policy. It has gone up significantly in the past couple of years. When we first started, it was $55 a month. I know inflation over 15 years is a lot. But now, we had to figure it out for our accountant for taxes and it's $900 for the year. So, with certain things, I could benefit more from not having the policy, taking that $80 a month and putting it in my bank account. And if something broke, using that $800 that I have.

    These companies don't love to do the repairs through the warranty companies because they get paid less than they would if they did it on their own, which also makes it difficult to get an appointment with someone if something is broken. In my townhouse, the washer was broken. It leaked out the bottom and it's on the second floor. So, my sister-in-law who lives there was worried that it would go into the ceiling and downstairs. We called and filed a claim. When AHS called back, they wanted to schedule an appointment for October 14th and this was mid-September. So, she would have been without a washer for almost a month. This is what we've always done. We would just let them say, okay whatever, and I would call back in a couple of days and say, "These people can't get to me till October 14th. So, I'm gonna need you to assign someone else to do it."

    But from what I understand, the companies who are contracted by AHS leave a certain number of appointments in their books for the warranty company appointments and they take their own appointments that regularly come into them as a priority because they get paid more money because they're still fulfilling their end of the contract. And for some things, if it was the microwave, we would be like, "We'll wait."

    But at my own house, I also have a warranty and we had our dryer break and I have three kids who are actively playing sports. I said, "I can't have no dryer. We need it every day, need to be wash uniforms around here." I hung up and called back two days later and was "Come to think of it, I cannot wait that long." And they can usually find me someone who has a closer availability. But the wait time is a bit much. They should prioritize things. Like if it's my washer and dryer, it should be more important than a dishwasher or a microwave or even a refrigerator.

    We've had the furnace break when it was February, middle of winter, 22 degrees. So, we had to intervene because we couldn't get someone to come fast enough and it was so cold outside that we had to buy a bunch of heaters and put them on so that the pipes didn't burst. So, there should be an alert level of certain things that should be prioritized over other things. If you have a guy who fixes washers and dryers and microwaves, the microwave people can wait and the washer and dryer can't. And it has to be practical thinking because, in this day and age, some people might think, if you don't have a stove, then that's problematic if your stove is broken because you need to feed your family or yourself. But if the dishwasher is broken, you still have a sink and you can still wash dishes. It's still functional.

Then it took a week after the person came out and told me what it was.     A month after I signed up with AHS, I had a claim for my pool pump. They sent out two people. When the first tech came out, they said the pool pump motor had to be serviced and AHS said they wouldn't cover that. They wouldn't approve the work because it was a new policy and a new claim. Then they sent out somebody else who wanted to replace the whole pump and then they denied that. It was a headache and as a realtor, I told them I would never refer them to any of my clients. I had to make many phone calls and we went back and forth. They said my pump was so old and that I had to have my house inspected before they could do anything. But I told them that when I signed up with them, no one mentioned anything about an inspection. Finally, they paid me out for the cost of a new motor. But it took months to even get anything out of them.

    When the motor went out again, I called AHS and they said they'd send somebody out. The guy who came out was the guy who came out a year ago who said I needed the motor replaced.     American Home Shield’s customer service was wonderful but everything took about four weeks. The folks working on the unit before didn’t do anything. They put Freon in it for a month and that didn't work and AHS said the unit got to be replaced. The problem was, when the company before replaced the unit, they didn't replace the heating unit. Then, the parts had expired and wouldn't fit. They ordered them and couldn’t get them. So this time, everything had to be replaced.

    We've had very positive experiences with American Home Shield. The claims process is nice and easy. I just say, “I need to place a claim.” “What's going on?” I explain what's happening, pay my fee, then I get a call from the vendor telling me when they'll be out. It works for me. We've placed claims this year for various things, and for the most part, I can't complain about the vendors. The technician who came out from Water & DrainWorks was fantastic, warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. The scheduler was also nice and very efficient.

    We've had issues with our evaporative cooler this year and American Home Shield doesn't have an active contract with any vendor around here, but they managed to find someone. They were nice enough. However, we've had repair people come out at least six times this year just to repair a repair. That's not on American Home Shield though. It's just the vendors that were assigned.

    Overall, I'm very pleased with the pricing, and I've been very happy with American Home Shield. I rarely have any issues. Everything I need fixed is fixed or replaced. We placed a claim a few days ago to have a faucet for one of our sinks either repaired or replaced. Water & DrainWorks was the company which was selected, and they will be coming out on Friday.

    It's been phenomenal with American Home Shield. You get one of these home warranty policies and you hope to never use it. When you have to use it, you hope that they respond appropriately. So far, American Home Shield has been responsive. The roof on the property I bought was relatively old and they responded well. We just got the house and were wondering about how much the HVAC system was holding up with the weather. Their contractor came and troubleshot it.

    Their process is seamless. You go online, put your complaints in there, and they have one of the contractors call you within 24 hours of putting the claim in. Every time they scheduled an appointment, they were very communicative as far as letting us know what their ETA was. The three times they've come, they were 5 or 10 minutes early or slightly late but nothing outrageous to cause us to rearrange our schedule during the day to accommodate them. There are a lot of craziness going on with warranty companies and they argue with you. But American Home Shield is impressive. After the repairs are done, they would send me pictures of what the problem was and photos of the repairs.

    We have six houses under American Home Shield. They're responsive. The contractors come out quickly, usually next day. In one of the rental houses, the garage door spring broke and a contractor came out quickly for that. We had air conditioning claims on a couple of houses, but those weren't completely covered. We had to pay out of pocket for a lot of it. We had a contractor come out another time for a leak and they did a repair. They said it probably needs to be exchanged soon. But it's still there and working from the repair they did. We also had a water heater claim which went fine. The first time, the contractor checked it out but the problem had dried up so they didn't do anything. It happened again where there was a small leak around the bottom. We called them again and, this time, they came out and replaced the water heater.

    Ace Appliance reached out and scheduled an appointment for a dishwasher that was leaking. They had something come up earlier than my appointment so they asked if I was willing to have an earlier appointment. That was nice. The technician diagnosed the problem and fixed it. We haven't had any relapse so as of now, I'm happy. He went above and beyond. There was one extra thing that I asked him to not look at, but I just needed him to zip tie something because one of the plastic pipes was sagging. He took care of that and zip tied it up on the top of the sink so that it helped make sure that there wouldn't be other potential issues with what was going on with the water through the dishwasher.

    American Home Shield covers the most amount of appliances at the most affordable rate. If you're a new home buyer and you wanna make sure that you're not having unforeseen major ones, it's a good thing to look into. So far, I'm seeing value from it because it's already fixed one of my issues and I know that my heating will be taken care of going into the winter. It's gonna get a full service. I've already submitted that claim and I'm waiting for them to schedule it. Because I'm in Texas, they're waiting for things to get cooler before they'll come out.

    It's been positive so far with American Home Shield. We had to have a new AC unit put in and it went really well. What they covered on it was good. However, some of their stuff in the contract are confusing. For instance, we had to have a new hole cut in the ceiling for the contractor to be able to get the new unit through there. If you read one thing, it says that American Home Shield covers a portion of that. But when you call and ask them about it, they say they don't cover that. Also, their prices are high. Freon is covered $10 a pound, so we had to pay $400 out of pocket for freon because they said that's what it needed. But that freon was completely gone in two weeks. That was frustrating because they said that would fix the problem, but it didn't. That was $400 down the drain.

    If something was to go down, I could get that corrected thru American Home Shield. I've called them twice. The first time was the air conditioning unit. Something was going on where it couldn't hold pressure. The people that American Home Shield sent out took a look at it and got it solved. On the second one, I was having some issues with the stove, and it ended up being nothing, so I paid the money for nothing. It was some burners that were clogged, and repairman showed us how to unclog those.

    The service has not been where it was when we first joined American Home Shield. We had our stovetop to go out, and we were able to find a comparable one for that where they replaced it. But we're still waiting on a refund on the garage door opener. They used to supply the difference so that you could put money towards buying a new one. It appears that you have to fight them to get that done. They had said that they would get back to us, but that's been over since July. Nobody's contacted us back or sent us a check for the difference.

    When you get customer service like that, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I'm torn on whether I would refer anybody to them. They need to go back to the old ways of doing customer service and do a better job of advocating in their commercials and marketing on what they will do for their customers. They cover a lot. You would think when you call upon them, that they would take care of what you need to take care of. For the most part, they do. But when you get into replacing components, you run into a challenge.

    Our experience with them has been horrible. There's been a claim open for over two years on my home. In June of 2021, one of my air conditioners went out. I paid $3000 for the techs to put in Freon but it leaked back out. AHS sent the contractor back and they put Freon in again. They said, "Hey, something's either wrong with this unit or somebody is stealing your Freon." I said, "As you can see, I'm not a AC man, so I don't have any equipment where I could take the Freon out." We came to find that the condensing unit outside is bad. This is after I already replaced the compressor in it and paid the $3,000 for the new Freon. So, it leaked back out again. They had to do a pressure leak test on my system. So they disconnected everything from the unit, except for the copper lines that go to the furnace, to make sure that there was no leak in the Freon line.

    If there was a leak in the Freon line, I would have been responsible for that repair before they can do their repair. There was no leak so what should have happened was, American Home Shield approving for my new condensing unit to be installed in my home. The contractor never calls back or showed up. I waited a couple of months and called back in. They said that they see that the issue is supposed to have been fixed. They told me that they will get somebody out and that they'd send my issue to customer relations to get with the vendor. They told me to give the vendor 48 hours to call and if they don't, someone at AHS would contact me within the next 48 business hours.

    AHS sent another contractor who said he wouldn't touch the system because the last contractor did the work. They said that I need to get them back out. But I can't do that because they won't answer their phone. This has been going on for two years and my air conditioning system is still not fixed. I have a two-story home of over 4,000 square feet. This problem has made my other air conditioning units work hard and one of those has gone out. I had to pay another 3,500 to get that one fixed. I've spent over five grand and I still don't have a working air conditioning system. I haven't had air conditioning downstairs in two years. My English bulldog died because of a heat stroke because of this issue and no one took responsibility.

    If could find out a number to where I could have made a complaint and actually had somebody not from a foreign country call me back, that would be better. All the third party vendors are overseas for customer service relations and all they do is give the same prompt of, "Oh, I'm sorry. Let me put you on another 30-minute hold because I'm sorry." If I could get someone to move forward, I would have been happy.

    My washing machine went out a month ago and the tech came right out. I paid my $75 and he was done in 30 minutes. With AHS, if there's anything that is gonna require them to have to spend money, they're gonna take their time. But if it's just you paying your service fee and everything else, then it's fine. If I had a dependable replacement for American Home Shield then that's what I'm going to do.

    I've had a great experience with American Home Shield. I used them when a sink was stopped up. They were able to get me an appointment that next week. They put in a new garbage disposal. It was great customer service and the prices is good compared to not having to pay a lot out of pocket.
