United Air Temperature had to work on my toilet which was leaking and they did a great job. I like American Home Shield. They're good and every time, I've been able to call right on the phone and get through. I recommend them to my co-workers and friends.

When I had a problem with a washing machine and a refrigerator, AHS replaced them. Recently, one of the pumps got unplugged and the plumber figured that out quickly and he turned around and left. There was one time when I needed the heating fixed and it took a week or two longer than I would hope it would have taken. The people that they were calling were not responding, which surprised me because you think they would be the first people who would answer the phone. That was a little frustrating, going back and forth, but we ultimately got it resolved.

For our recent claim for the furnace with AHS, the techs tried to take care of it and they were here twice. Did a lot of work, spent a lot of hours but they told me they could no longer continue the work because they found the previous homeowner had rewired on his own the entire electric furnace, which made it inoperable. They were not allowed to put the wires back into factory condition. They told me I had to get a real electrician to come up and rewire it to factory specs and then they'd come back at a later time. I did what they told me to do. I got an electrician and he left an hour ago and he charged me $1,100 and everything's perfect and I'll be good for another 20 years.

We've had so many claims with American Home Shield. We had a problem with a dryer. We've had the repairman out five times and they can't seem to get the dryer fixed. We've had four plumbing leaks that we had to have them come back and redo. Overall, the service is good but we have to have better luck with repair people. We had one repair guy come to do the dryer. He refused to walk in the house because he was allergic to my pets.

I had a claim with AHS for the garbage disposal. It wouldn't turn on. I submitted a claim on my mobile phone. I'm not good at that stuff, so it took me a while. I tried it one day and just gave up and then tried it the next day and then it worked. I'm not good at computers. It takes me a long time to get something done. I had another issue that I wanted the tech to look at, but I couldn't get in and I just gave up. And that issue still remains. But they got back right away. The tech was very good. There was a bobby pin stuck in it. So, he undid that. He came late ‘cause he was backed up, but he still came.

Our tankless water heater quit. I called in a claim on it. It was very easy. American Home Shield sent All Valley. The tech was very professional and did a good job. As soon as they got the water heater from AHS, they got it installed. We had a rainy period a couple days there and this is an outside tankless heater, so they came right away the next morning after it quit raining and installed it. With AHS, I like not having to come up with all the money out of my own pocket. Give them a try.

We haven't had any problems with AHS. However, when I call, I go through the automated person, and then it's almost like I gotta hang up to call again to try to get to a live person. Also, the technician that they sent out for the dryer became aggressive towards me. He was pushing me. When he left, I called American Home Shield and I told them what had happened and that I did not wanna do business with the tech again. They took my information and they were able to give me somebody else.

I had a couple of claims with American Home Shield where they sent somebody out, and they were able to fix it. All I paid was the one-time fee and they came out. They fixed my air conditioner. They fixed my microwave another time. They had to replace something, and it works really well now. There are other times like in the case of my gas/electric fireplace where we can't seem to find somebody that can fix it. The person came out and said, "Oh, I can't work on this. We have to get an electrician." In the long run, it's been worth it to have AHS. I certainly didn't want to buy a new air conditioner if they could fix it, and they did. I was impressed with how quickly they were able to do it.

Our air conditioner wasn't working. It stopped blowing. The customer service of AHS was fine when I submitted a claim. I requested the same guy that came out before. He prepared my AC before. The tech fixed it the same day. However, when the AC goes out in the summer, it takes a long time to get people out there unless you know people. If it's in the winter, your heater is gonna break. The wait times are really long. The deductible sucks. It's always a weighing factor of, "Will I get my return on investment? Will something break? Will it not? Or am I just throwing away my money?"

Another option that they don't tell you is you can have cash out on items. If your appliance breaks and you don't like what they're gonna do, the repair-wise, you can opt for a cashout, and they'll pay you a certain amount for the appliance that's broken or the repair that needs to be done. Their customer service is usually good. The problem is the call centers are mostly overseas, in the Philippines or Vietnam. There is a language barrier. Whenever you really need something done, you need to speak to a supervisor, they gotta call back to the States, and then it's gonna be a waiting period for them, too. It's also too much money with the deductible. They have an annual fee or a monthly fee, then the deductible is the same. You can get medical coverage for cheaper.

I like that when something unexpected breaks down, hopefully I'm only in the hole for the service fee. That has not always been the case because sometimes I get mad because they deny everything as being covered. I used to have two houses with American Home Shield but I dropped one of them. Because in less than a year, three things got denied, and I was beyond upset with AHS. There have been issues. But currently, I'm okay with them. I've had two things recently. AHS fixed them fine both times. We had somebody out here for the dryer. They were okay.

I've had some contractors who I did not like. I pull up the reviews on them before I get them and they could be bad. My refrigerator, to this day, never got fixed. And a couple of years ago, I had called on it. I even bought a thermometer to put in my fridge to show the tech it was not working right, but he didn't care. So, I gave up on that. One tech came in and was here for less than five minutes. But that was on us. We thought we had checked the garbage disposal and he just pulled out a piece of plastic and that was it. That was an expensive five-minute call.

The contractor came out to check my hot water heater. The water seemed like it wasn't staying hot as long. The two guys that came out were fairly knowledgeable about any questions I had. They answered it with confidence. I had a few questions about what it could be. He checked the things out and he said everything was running good.

Trying to get somebody to pay for parts and labor can get really expensive. So having Home Shield is really cool because you pay monthly, and then if anything needs to be fixed or repaired, then they gotta do that. If anything's wrong, they fix it and we don't have to get out of pocket with a whole bunch of stuff. But the worst thing is the service call, they are $100 every time they come out. If I'm paying for the coverage, why am I paying for the service call as well? I'm not too mad about it because I understand. The young gentlemen that come out gotta get paid too.

We've had Home Shield for a while and we're pretty pleased with them. We like that people come to respect our stuff and treat it as if it's theirs. The contractors show up when they say they’re gonna show up. They perform their duty and they do it well. They don't break anything or say something needs to be fixed when they don't need to be fixed. They address the problem and they’re in and out, so I like that.

I was ready to cancel my policy because I was so unhappy. I had a fridge that took two months to get fixed, and a boiler that went out that was never repaired. The damper had gone bad and it caused the boiler not to function properly. At some point, it didn't function at all. American Home Shield denied it, saying it was part of the vent system they don't cover. I had to argue it was part of the boiler system. AHS wouldn't believe the repairman they sent out who said he couldn't get a part because the boiler was too old. They ended up closing my case saying that it has been rectified and nothing happened.

I was frustrated so I called AHS to cancel and they offered me a free month, and could come out and fix my washing machine. So, I didn't go through the normal process for the washing machine. They tried to make good. I was very happy with the Knockout Appliance guy. He put in a new pump. I appreciate that AHS tried to make some things right. AHS is helpful when it works. I'm just questioning if it's worth the hassle that I went through and the lack of some things being fixed.

I called American Home Shield 10 days ago. I said, “My garbage disposal is leaking.” The rep said, “If it's leaking, it's $125.” I started to have an attitude with them. I said, “What difference does it make? How do you charge an extra $25 when it's 100? But if I say it might be leaking, it's an extra 25.” “That's just because you said it was leaking.” “So, if I called for my refrigerator and I didn't know it was leaking and you guys came out and it was, then you’d charge me an extra $25?” She said yes. That doesn't make any sense. When I started with AHS, the deductible was $35. It went to 45, 55. It might have skipped 65, gone to 75, and it was 100 for the last couple of years. I said, “Okay. Then I don't know what's wrong with it. I'm not a technician. I don't know what's wrong with it. Send them out and have them figure out what it is.”

AHS changed their policy, too, where before, I would get the service done and pay the service fee. They now like to collect it upfront before anybody came. I would say, “I'm not doing that.” But they still wanna take how I would gonna pay, and charge me afterwards. I noticed they charged me $125, which I don't recall getting an email or a call saying, “Normally, it's 100, but because it was leaking, it was 125 and we're gonna take that out of your account.” They just took it. Athey had come out and the guy replaced the garbage disposal, they decided it was 125, not 100.

I get it if it was leaking and they would replace the boards underneath my sink and that's why it was another $25, but because water came out of there, it was an extra 25. They would replace it anyway. It was a Kenmore garbage disposal. Sears' store brand for appliances was Kenmore and they stopped making Kenmore stuff before they went out of business. So, it was, “You're not getting parts for it. You're not gonna be able to replace it with another Kenmore. You're gonna have to replace it with something else.” So, it didn't matter that it was leaking or not. It would get replaced either way. But because the magic word was leaking, “We'll tack on another $25.” The guy was in and out in 10 minutes and they charged me 125 a couple of days later on my checking account.

The $100 deductible is insane, especially when adding on $25 for the garbage disposal leaking. But even at 100, I had appliances, washer and dryer, and it was, “If my dryer goes out and I don't know what's wrong with it, I know I gotta pay 100 for somebody to come look at it. And it could be something they fix or don't. We have places here where I could buy a brand-new dryer for 300 bucks. So, why do I wanna spend 100 for a contractorto come out and tell me something's wrong with it that maybe they couldn't fix? So, I took the appliances off because the deductible for it was too much. The kitchen appliances have their own warranty.

The plumber was great. He knew what he was doing. Once he looked at the garbage disposal and said, “Yeah, I gotta replace it,” he went out to his truck, found what he needed, took it out of the box and brought it back in. He was better than some of the people AHS has sent. I have a list with them saying, “Do not ever send these people to my house again.”

There was a water heater that stopped working. AHS sent out a contractor out and AHS said they would replace it. It was a 40-gallon water heater. It was a three-bedroom, 1,600 square-foot house. Everything was smaller back then. But it was a big enough house where it was, “We're in the 2000s now. I would like to upgrade it. If you're gonna pay for a 40, let me put in a 60, and I'll pay the difference.” But AHS wouldn't allow me to do that. I was willing to pay the extra because I get five people living in a rental property and they wanna take showers, by the time it would get to person three in a 40-gallon thing, they would get no hot water. AHS replaced it at the 40.

I found out shortly when they were doing it that I had to get a permit to replace the water heater, which is asinine. So, the tech went and got the permit, replaced the water heater, and I had to make arrangements with the city inspector to come to look at the water heater, and he failed it. I asked why and he said, “He didn't put a drain pan underneath it ‘cause that's code.” So, I had to call them again and have them come out a second time, take the whole thing apart because once it's plumbed in there, you couldn't just lift it and slide the drain pan in. You gotta do all the plumbing again. So, again, I had to be there for that and they did that. And I had to call the inspector and have them come out a second time. He passed it at that time. But everything took double the time because they did it wrong. So, AHS had vendors that didn't know code and how to properly do stuff.

I had a leak under my daughter's sink and I thought I could fix it myself. But it looked more complicated than what I was used to seeing. I tried to make the claim online but the website wouldn't accept the credit card I have on file with American Home Shield. So, I ended up calling and they were able to bill my credit card for the activation fee, which was $125. That's been more than one occasion where I couldn't get the website to work. But it was easy and all I had to do was look at my stuff and input my data and it pulled it right up. And when I called in, it recognized my phone number. So, the rep already knew who I was. The customer service reps were super nice. They were to the point and tried to help me get set up. They asked me if I needed anything else. So it was fine. It was exactly what I would expect or need.

Two guys came out from Herbert Plumbing and they were extremely honest. The younger guy was under the sink and was giving the older guy information as he was looking at it. And he was telling me what was wrong as the other guy was telling him. So, it was cool. I happened to be home, which worked out. They helped me before with a backup issue with a toilet. Both times, they did good and were very thorough. They explained what the problem was and double-checked it before they left. They were in my house for 25 minutes and they were done. It was a good experience. If I had work that the warranty didn't cover, I would call that guy.

I sold my house, moved into an apartment for two years and then, I finally got a house. I thought I didn't need a home warranty but I was completely wrong. If people are moving into a house and they don't know the history of the house, they should definitely get it. AHS is easy to use. You pay 400 at closing and then each time you use it, it's $125. These problems would have occurred regardless and that 125 is cheaper than the plumber's house call, which is probably 200.

People need to remember they have that option because the first time, I forgot I had that option and I paid for a plumber to come out. And they gave me the runaround. I paid 300 dollars and they diagnosed something that they ended up never even fixing. It ended up causing problems in the house and I had to replace the pipe from my backyard out to the street, which cost me $8,500 out of my own pocket, which was painful. It wasn't in the house, so it wasn't covered by American Home Shield.

Originally, Prime Plumbing was brought out by American Home Shield but the work that they did do for me that I paid out of my own pocket was not under American Home Shield. They came out one time because the other side of my driveway where it's a skinny part of the lawn, was completely dug up. So they put the grass seed down and the straw over it. There was a drop cord plugged into the ground with a couple of white plastic pipes coming up out of a round thing that was probably a foot deep and they said they would take care of that. I called probably four times and I've given up trying to get them to do it. They were not cool to deal with. I’ve got guys walking around my front yard barefoot and smoking cigarettes.

The first day Prime Plumbing came out, the backhoe wouldn't start. So they canceled. They finally came out a few days later. They waited for me to get home from Panama City and wanted a check for 8,500. I asked if I could put it on my credit card and they said they were gonna charge me 3.8% interest if I use my credit card. So I would not recommend Prime Plumbing. I still have work that I paid for that they've never come back out. They said they were gonna put a cover over the thing. It’s almost as big a round as a 50-gallon drum in the ground and there are a couple of pipes around the outside of that that are above the ground where I would trip over them. I kept asking if I needed an electrician so this drop cord was not lying in my backyard just exposed. And they just said they would be out here. It's going on for two months now and I haven't heard anything. So I would not recommend them.

The person on the phone got everything set up quickly and within a short period of time, the company contacted us by a text. We called the company and we were able to set up a time. The plumber worked on a sink and some toilets, and took care of what needed to be done. He was good and had a pleasant personality. The cost was $100 flat fee and everything seems to be working. You’d like to know if you’re gonna pay money to this type of home insurance and you call to get something fixed, that they’d fix it, fix it properly and fix it the first time. And American Home Shield did that. So, it was good. 100 bucks for the service call and everything else seems to go for free has worked out.

Their customer service has been excellent. I submitted a claim for an old stove. One side of the coil had gone bad. The tech came out the second time, he said it was a new one, but you don't know whether the whole thing works until it gets plugged in and you turn the oven on. It was the opposite side of what had been the problem before. But he replaced it and it works fine. The crew that came out seemed to know what they were doing. However, I would prefer a little bit lower price for AHS because I have friends that have it and they said mine is almost twice as what they were, but they've had it for a few years.

When you submit your claim, American Home Shield automatically is telling you have to pay for it right then and there. I wanted to talk to somebody first so I told them I was not spending any money until I talk to somebody. Somebody had to call me back and when they did, I felt safer and understood it was $100. A contractor called me in two days to set up an appointment, and I thought it was gonna take a week for them to call me back. I didn't know it was gonna be that soon.

They called me and asked me if they could come earlier that day. It wasn't that long after I had scheduled it. A repairman came and assessed it. He told me what they had to do, and that he was gonna have to order the part. I was thinking that was gonna take another two weeks but it didn't take too long. He had great customer service. I wasn't expecting such a quick response. I'm impressed. The last time I used American Home Shield was years ago. It was for a washer, and it took a month to get a part back. That was why I thought it was gonna take that long this time, but it didn't, so I'm glad.

We did one when our water heater was leaking. I didn't know it would be covered so I called a regular plumber and he said, "Why are you gonna pay for it when you can get it covered under your home warranty?" I went through the American Home Shield and put the claim in online. They called me and said, "We're gonna send somebody out tonight." A tech was out, turned the water off, ordered the water heater, and it was installed within a day. It took six hours to switch the water heaters. It was really fast and the tech was great.

I left American Home Shield for another company, and it was the worst mistake I ever made in my life. It's a little pricey it's but's worth the money. When I call, I usually have multiple items, but they only allow me to give one. If I go to do another one, I get charged for another claim, and I don't think that's right. I have to get through to a representative and that takes forever. They don't ask if you have anything else. They just put that through and if you wanna add anything, you have to either call back and they charge you again or try to get online with a representative that can list them all at one time.

My plumber was very nice and timely. I had a little issue 'cause I couldn't get ahold of the village to shut my water off. That took a couple of weeks before I could get everything fixed, but they came and finished it all the other day. But for the appliances, my dishwasher still wasn't working. I called them back out and it took them three days to get back out here. I'm still waiting to hear from American Home Shield if they're going to replace my dishwasher 'cause it's not repairable.

There are times that I have to fight either the claim or the service to be provided. There are times when they have an expedient response. But there are times when it's just waiting a couple of days before you even get the service started. More recently, Ano Appliances came out for the refrigerator and it was not very pleasant. I would not want that company to come back again.

The guy that came checked the refrigerant and he said, “There's no leak. What's the problem?” I told him that there was no ice and that was what I called about. There was no water that was coming out of the thing when you pressed the thing for water. So he said, “Well, there's no problem with the refrigerator. Maybe the hose is not connected.” But he didn't even look in the back. So I ended up taking a look in the back and found out that the water hose was not connected. Then he said, “Right there. There's the problem.” He was very condescending. I asked him if he had a piece of Teflon tape so I could try to tighten it and I would do it myself. But he said, “No. I'm not a plumber. It's not my job.” So I got charged for $104 for nothing.

The positive part of my experience was the electrical side. JL Electric Company came in a couple of times and helped me install a ceiling fan. They troubleshot the issues with the lighting and the breaker. There were also a couple of things that they did for me. Those guys were very professional. They were on time and they called. If they were gonna be late, they notified me.

I had a leak on the floor that originated from my fridge and freezer and I tried to figure out what it was. I went on the American Home Shield website and selected the appliance that was covered which was the freezer, and requested the service. I was told that I would get a call from a contractor and I did. The contractor didn't give me a lot of context about who he was or where he would come from or what my options were for an appointment. He just said that he would be in the area at a certain period of time and asked if he could stop by. I said, "No." And we decided that he could the following week, which was fine. He was great once he got here. He was very professional and to the point, was fine doing work while I was in the house, and gave me a concise answer and it was the right one.

He saw where the water was coming from, looked through the freezer and the fridge, identified that there was a drip coming from the water dispenser in the fridge, which I hadn't noticed because the drip was slow, and identified it was a broken valve that caused the drip. He got behind the fridge, assessed whether he had the valve as an extra part in his truck, and he did. He fixed it on the spot. I wondered whether the fridge needed a filter replacement. Even though that wasn't what caused the problem, he also identified the same thing and told me how to fix my filter, which wasn't covered by the warranty. But it was a nice thing that he did. He said, "You can do this on your own time and you can Google how to do it." He's good. If you need a service like that, I'd recommend AHS.

I called American Home Shield on the 30th. Then on the 31st, Foxcroft sent a guy here. He was a really nice guy. He checked everything out. He said that we had a board that went bad in our furnace. I paid my $100 to American Home Shield and then later that week, I got a thing from American Home Shield saying that I had to pay an additional $190 because of modifications. I finally got ahold of somebody on that following Monday, which would be almost two weeks ago now. They told me that it wasn't a modification. The board was $900 and American Home Shield only wanted to pay the first 700, and I would have to pay the additional $190. I told them to get it going because it was cold out and this was my furnace.

I called Foxcroft last week a couple of times and they never returned my call. I left messages and then I called American Home Shield. The guy I talked to said, "Well, I will call Foxcroft for you. Just hold." So, I was on hold and he came back and he said, "They're just waiting for the part." I told I would like to know the estimated delivery of this part. But I have yet to hear anything. I'm so pissed off right now that I don't wanna call them because I'm afraid that I might say something that's bad.

I'm a Gold member and I can't believe that American Home Shield put a limit on repairing my furnace. Going back over the new contract that they sent me, there were all kinds of limits now that were never on our contract before. We've been with American Home Shield for about 10 years. Ten years ago, they were the best thing going. But today, they're mediocre at best. Their timeliness and unwillingness to take care of a gold member that's been with them this long and try to charge me another $190 on a part, I would not recommend them at all.

Up until this experience and knowing all these limits now, I thought American Home Shield was a great value for the money. But now, I'm not so sure. In the past, they've replaced a gas dryer and a gas oven, and they've come and fixed water leaks. I was extremely happy with that and I didn't mind making the payments. Now that I've been with them for so long, it's almost like a habit. But the customer service as far as following up has been bad.

I've had some bad experiences. When I first moved in, my refrigerator was bad and it was a 25-year old refrigerator. It was bad because I live by myself, so it's not convenient to let somebody in. I have to have somebody there. I had 12 different repairmen come. That was ridiculous for a refrigerator that was 25 years old. It has cost American Home Shield more in service calls than it has for the cost of the whole refrigerator. It didn't make sense to me.

AHS finally got me a smart guy coming out, but he would replace the door seal. I said, "I have enough good common sense that that's not gonna fix the problem." This thing's 25 years old. And one guy held this little device that would take the temperature, and he was shooting it on the door. You could see that all the bottles and jars were, from condensation, getting hot and cold because that was the issue. Things would get hot, and it would get cold and freeze. So, I have to throw everything out. And he said, "It's not doing it," while he's standing there. Of course not. It was ridiculous.

I ended up getting this woman who was a supervisor and she agreed to replace the refrigerator. Supposedly, the technician came and my dog never barked. And this last one was simple, which is hard to believe. The hot water tank was a good experience and everything went smooth like it should. I've had a few of those, but not often. My refrigerator just recently, over the summer, went. And the technician that came was a dick. I hope he didn't get paid. I should have called them and said to them, "The guy didn't do his job. He came out and replaced the motherboard, and he never checked to see that the refrigerator was working or not working."

It never was working to begin with. The board was bad. And he refused to take my call and he wouldn't return a text message. So, the next day, I called on my way to work, and he sent me this text saying that he'd transfer me to another company. It was a shame that I didn't call AHS and say to them, "Don't pay this guy because he didn't do his job. He wouldn't come back out."

The rep told me, "At American Home Shield, he's gonna have to come at your convenience," which I felt was fair because I took a day of work off and I'm self-employed. I took a day of work off because I need my refrigerator. It ended up being two months that I was without a refrigerator, which is ridiculous. I pay a lot for this. I pay $121 and some change a month. So, that's a lot for what I get. They've increased the plan that it is a better plan. But over the years, has it been worth it? No. But it gives me peace of mind. It has been a bit disappointing, but I don't know what else to do. I keep thinking, "I'm gonna cancel it." And every time I try to, they talk me into staying.

My experience with American Home Shield has been terrible. I called them twice to repair two things that have messed up in my home. They sent somebody out to check on my stuff. They told me that they would get back to me. They then sent somebody else out to check on my stuff. They sent two people and it delayed my thing. They told me that I had malfunctioned the garage door opener and I hadn't even touched it. American Home Shield refused to pay for it. I called the company that actually makes the garage door opener. Mine burnt up. I had to send it to them and they checked it. They sent me a new one at no cost because it malfunctioned. Still, it was a hassle.

I told American Home Shield about what the company said about the garage door burning up and they didn't say anything. They charged me $165 and I had to pay that twice for the two different people to come out there to my house. They should have reimbursed me for that. I shouldn't have been charged that. The other claim I had was for the refrigerator. My ice maker quit. The technician was not pleasant and he accused us of malfunctioning it. My particular ice maker does not have a heater. The first guy that came out there told me my heater went out. That tells you they didn't even do their job. American Home Shield sent somebody else, Pye's Appliance, and they were amazing. I didn't have to pay another fee for that. It took about 5 days to get the issue fixed up. They had to order a part. the ice maker is working amazingly now. I love Pye's Appliance.

I did a claim for my garage door opener and that was easy. It was all online. You can still call customer service and do it that way, but you can actually do a ticket online. American Home Shield takes it from there and they'll send you an email or a text back telling you who's gonna be doing the service for you. The repair of my garage door opener went fine. I got a brand-new garage door opener.

The majority of the contractors have always been good. I only had one bad experience and that was years ago. It had something to do with the stove. The people that did the work didn't pay close enough attention to details to fix the problem. But American Home Shield fixed that problem and they didn't use those people anymore. They sent out a Sears guy that fixed it the first time around. Once they got the right guy out here, the stove went fine. American Home Shield can be a little costly. I pay $79 a month. And whenever a service person comes out, you gotta pay $100. Most time, everything is covered after that. I like American Home Shield.

The guys came out and found the issue, and they were in and out in less than a few hours. They explained everything that was going on every step of the way and even made recommendations about how to keep the appliance going for an extended period of time. The dishwasher is working perfectly now. I have had experience submitting claims to American Home Shield by both calling in as well as doing it online. And I prefer to submit it online. Our oven has been broken for over 7 months. We call them weekly, and each week we're told the same thing. "We're working on it". Customer service doesn't give out any contact info, they just tell you "We'll call you back". They don't. We will be taking them to court. Why do we pay 100's of dollars each year to STILL have a broken oven for the holidays? Completely unacceptable.

The gentleman from United Air Temp did a good job and met all our expectations. He had a positive attitude so he represented his company and American Home Shield well. We've had our challenges with AHS in the earlier years but I've noticed some improvement in their customer service. In the beginning, it was always very difficult to get through on the phone. You have to wait 15 minutes maybe, sometimes more. Now, you can get through almost right away.

We had a very difficult time in 2020 when our washing machine died during the pandemic and that was annoying. I had to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against American Home Shield. I only go that route if I can't resolve it internally with the company and I've talked to a number of people in American Home Shield. I advised them not only on the phone, but in writing, that I intended to file a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and I did. They established a case for this and interacted with American Home Shield and it was resolved.

At the time of the pandemic when we were having challenges, I talked to two people and they said that American Home Shield certainly is not perfect but compared to the other options, they're as good as you get. And that mattered to us because those people have been in the business a long time with real estate. So, AHS is doing a good job but they could polish themselves up a little bit.

So far, we've got things covered that we needed to have covered. Our monthly fees have been going up quite a bit though and I'm not totally satisfied with that at all because I don't know if this trend is gonna continue and it's gonna get worse. It started out, in the early years, maybe in the $60 range. Now, we're up into the mid-90's. It's based on how many times you've used the system and everything else but we're not at the point where we would consider going elsewhere because the price is too high. We're both seniors and I'm a disabled veteran and it would be nice if American Home Shield provided some sort of benefit for people in our situation. Most all the companies I deal with give veteran discounts these days.

I had a blockage in the basement shower/tub and the toilet was slow to flush. James, the gentleman who came out, explained to me step-by-step what he was doing and what he thought the problem would be. He also gave me some pointers on some other things that I could be on the lookout for and could possibly improve on my own to make the situation better and to possibly not have to reoccur again. I would recommend American Home Shield as a great home warranty company. I've had them since I've owned my home since 2017 and I've been pleased with them. The keypad on the dishwasher would turn on and run all day long, and we had to cut it off ourselves. The technician explained everything and was upfront and knowledgeable about what he was doing. But we had to call American Home Shield again. I thought the technician was gonna be pissed off because he had to come back but he wasn't. He texted me and told me he was coming back out, and he was gonna replace the whole keypad. I said okay and then, we set up a date. He came back out and was respectful. He was having a problem and he said it might take longer than he thought it was. He had to move the hose over to get the wiring and stuff off for the keypad. But besides that, it was fine. And he asked me if I had an old towel because there was a little water dripping. I got it for him and everything was fine.

The once-a-month payment to AHS is worth it because if you have a problem, you can get it fixed. I had a problem with my air conditioner and I called them and they sent somebody out. It was a regular yearly checkup because it started getting cold. We turned the heater on one time and it was smelling so I called AHS and got our AC and checked. So if something happens, we don't want to start any fire. If your warranty wore off when you bought the appliance, AHS is something that you might wanna get and it'll save you some money in the long run. I can call them any time I have an issue and I don't have to worry about it. It's gonna get taken care of.

When I called the first time, I told the rep that I needed someone to check the faucet in my bathroom. The hot water wouldn't turn warm enough. Also, there was a draining issue. The first time the plumbers came, they did the draining issue. So, I asked about the faucet and they said that wasn't on the ticket. They said I had to call American Home Shield to get that worked out. They worked on tickets and if it's not on the ticket, they weren't touching it.

I called, AHS and the reps said, "Oh, that wasn't said." I said, "No, I'm sure I said it." She went back and listened to the recording and found that I did say it. And so, she agreed to put on a ticket. But she never did. So, there was an escalation and I spoke to the manager. They said they would send a plumber out and refund me the $100 copay. The plumbers they sent were excellent. They readjusted the limiters in the faucet and in the shower. Then I got hot water.

So, it had to be replaced. They covered some of it and I had to pay $500. The dryer wasn't heating and the first time the tech came out, he thought he fixed it. Then it went out. So, this guy took the whole thing out and fixed it. Everybody's been great and very nice.

I’m grateful I have American Home Shield. People in my neighborhood need a plumber, this and this. The best way to deal with that is to get them one of the guys I used through AHS. In the very beginning, when I bought my house, the guy came and checked things out just for a yearly check-up. He said if I do nothing else, I should keep AHS because the FDA has changed regulations on air conditioners and if mine goes out, AHS will pay for a new one. They cover all my appliances. My home had had the same hot water heater since the house has been built and there's only been one other owner in the house. It was the Sears and Roebuck and it has lasted all these years. But AHS paid for everything. The guy came in and said it’s probably gonna go out in about three years. They don't make them like this anymore. And that's everything.

I've had a dishwasher that I bought new about five years ago and it's not cleaning good. So, it's time to get another one. My neighbor is fixing to switch over to American Home Shield. It only costs $80 a month and to get something replaced or fixed, it's only $100 for the tech to come out and fix. JT Ultimate Pools was fabulous. They’ve always come out and worked on my pool. My motor just quit and the wire's exposed a little bit but the girl I dealt with, Jackie, told me not to worry about it. She said she would work with AHS and get it covered for me. Everyone I worked with through AHS was good.

I had a negative experience when I told them I needed somebody to clean my ducts. AHS said the contractor could clean them but apparently, they don't do that. AHS then got another place that doesn't do ducts at all. It was a solar place. Also, I put down $100 and it took weeks to get that back because they kept saying they sent someone out. Other than that, having AHS saves me money. My gas stove's oven was not coming on. The techs were professional and courteous. It took them 30 minutes or less to fix the problem. I recommend AHS. Overall, they've been pretty good. We just had one experience that I can't give them a high mark for.

One of the garage doors was sticking when we tried to open it. But if you put it down and put it back up, it was fine. The techs found out when they came out that there was a buildup of grease over the years and other kinds of things on the seal. It was not anything mechanical or anything wrong with the door or the motor, I just needed to clean the seals good. When we built our house, we had a 10-year warranty and all the appliances were new. So, I wouldn't necessarily recommend American Home Shield because it's a brand-new construction and everything's covered. But once our house turned 15 years old and we still had all the original appliances, heater, air conditioner and everything else, it made sense. If that's the situation that people are in, it's a good backup over homeowners’ insurance.

I generally interact with AHS through their website or the app on the phone. Most places have gone online and eliminated phone staff, or greatly reduced it. So if you want to get something done, you have to at least try it online. And if you don't get a response back, then maybe call and follow up. The customer service has been good and I've always had good luck with them. We had to have an air conditioner replaced once and it was gonna take a couple of days. But AHS worked to get it done quickly. I didn't expect them to have someone there and get the part but they communicated through the whole process about where they were at.

The tech that came out said that my stove needed to be replaced. But American Home Shield said that they could rebuild the piece, but they were gonna have to send the whole stove out, which means I would be without a stove for three to five weeks, which is crazy. They said they could give me $181 towards a new stove. So I'm waiting for a supervisor to call me back. I got another claim in for a well and they can't find anybody right now. It's been 48 hours. So they're probably gonna tell me to pay out of pocket, which is crazy. You don't buy warranties for that. So my well is acting up. The water is off and on. I have to wait for somebody to call me in two days, which is crazy. It's a terrible experience. When I spoke to somebody that's foreign, they read from a script. So they were no help.

When I was trying to get coverage for the pool, American Home Shield said I gotta wait till November. Then I called them to try to get it added before the summertime came and they said, "No." I said, "Well, y'all told me I can add it on or whatever." But I wound up having to pay out of my pocket anyway with the pool. I ain't mad at that. I've been with other warranty companies who blew smoke up my **. The only thing American Home Shield ever does is when they say, "You're gonna have to wait for 10 minutes," it's like that. That's the only thing that they probably do is answer the phone quicker.

They had to replace it and works great. I had to pay $600 for the hot water heater, which I thought would have covered it all. American Home Shield has provided me with really good work. My AC broke right after we bought the house, and it was a $3,200 fix, and they just charged me my $100 service fee. Then my fridge just broke last week, and they'll replace it. The new one will be here on the 15th. I normally submit my claims through their website. They don't have a mobile app, which kind of sucks, but their website is very user-friendly. You just go and do a service request. It's really dummy-proof. You can click what appliance or what type of repair you need or service call you need, and then you submit it through there. Then they don't charge you until the company comes out and looks at your appliance or whatever it is. After that, they charge $100 for the fee, but there are no more charges after that. Everything's covered as long as it's within a certain budget depending on which plan you have with them.

I would buy AHS for somebody else. That's how good it is, and it's low cost. We have a very big house. It has four bedrooms, three baths, and 2,500 square feet. We have a Jacuzzi. We have a pool. Everything's covered in it, and it was only 800 bucks. I will definitely be re-buying when the warranty is up. I would recommend it. I’d tell others how amazing they are.

If something goes wrong, I can call American Home Shield. They can have it resolved in a timely manner. It takes, “Hey, we're gonna look for this reputable service technician or provider to come out and fix something when it goes wrong.” We had Elite 360 for the heating and air conditioning unit. Something that we thought was gonna be easy was a little more complicated when they troubleshooted it. So, that problem was resolved and everything is working great.

So far, every contractor that's been sent out to the house is very professional. They were professionals and respectful and even took the time. The one that just came out for the dishwasher was phenomenal and took the time to explain, “Hey, this is what happens. This is what happens when it backs out. Using these pods can actually be a systemic thing that can cause further damage to the system.” They gave me some recommendations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. So, it was neat. They really took the time. The only thing is it seems like it's progressively getting higher and higher. The service itself is great but it's getting to the point where I'm gonna make a decision and say, “Hey, is this worth continuing?” My one complaint was somebody came out to the house for the washer and dryer. Then, I was charged a service charge fee and they didn't fix the problem.

My very first ticket to American Home Shield was my dishwasher and the contractor they sent out ripped a panel off it without unscrewing it. When the technician fixed the handle, he put that panel back on, but it only had one good connector. About four months later, the dishwasher failed. AHS sent another technician and that technician replaced the panel. I ended up paying $250 when it should have been taken care of when I paid the first 125. When I asked AHS about it, the guarantee is one month. As long as the unit survived for 30 days, it's a new item. I was miffed. I told them to never give me that technician again. They apologized and they didn't sent the same person out for my refrigerator.

The refrigerator went out initially in March. It was a shortened system and the thermostat had died. The original technician replaced the thermostat and it worked fine for six months. After six months, another component died and he thought it was the regulator, but we were pretty sure it was the compressor. They replaced the regulator and put my thermometers in and it was working fine. I came home that night and the refrigerator died again. I sent a picture to the technician and he said it had to be the compressor. He said he would send it to AHS and when they did, AHS got me a new one.

They sent me an email saying, "It's time to go shopping," which sounds really happy, but it wasn't. I had an 18 cubic foot refrigerator initially and it was very bare bones. I know it was bare bones and was perfectly fine with that. I was perfectly fine being replaced with the most bare-bone thing that could be done. They sent me this list of items but if you look at the contract with AHS, there are a lot of things they do not cover. They do not cover chest freezers, freezer in the garage, wine coolers, or kegerators. The shopping list had a chest freezer, a cabinet freezer, a kegerator, a wine cooler, and a bunch of things that were much smaller than what I have. They said there was one item that matches perfectly my refrigerator and that one was gonna be free but it was out of stock.

There was one that was in stock that was just slightly more energy efficient but it was $250 more so it was gonna cost me $250. I got upset and I called the appliance office. I had been without a fridge for almost a month then. The rep I talked to said she could send me the one that was $250 more and she said they would take care of it so it worked out.

The worst situation I ever had was with my shower claim. I live in a condo and my en suite shower was leaking into the bathroom of my downstairs neighbor. I hated the first plumber AHS sent. He looked at it and said AHS would not cover it. He made up a story and submitted an item to AHS that I had to authorize a $9000 additional charge before he would proceed. I got their customer service and they were awful at trying to understand. If it's not very basic conversation you're gonna have with them, you're gonna have a headache, which is not the best. They sided with the plumber.

They said my only option is to request a second opinion. I had to coordinate with the neighbor downstairs and get them to willingly open their ceiling to give the tech access. She opened up her ceiling and then I called back the first tech. He said he can't go in my neighbor's property so he wouldn't.

AHS sent a second guy and he was a nice kid. He accepted that he was gonna go to another person's property. He looked at the bottom and said I was missing a part and he would get it fixed. I did another coordination with the neighbor and got it fixed. The main annoyance I have right now is sitting on my account with AHS is, "We need your authorization for additional charges," because they've not deleted that first plumber thing. Most of the problems I've had with American Home Shield were serious problems where I wa super frustrated. I wouldn't drop them but I know that if I have a problem, it's gonna be work.

I recently submitted a claim with American Home Shield for my heater that was not working. I paid a monthly fee and I paid for the visit, which is over $100. They took care of it. They sent a third-party company that in turn sent somebody in and fixed my heater for me. It was a fuse-related issue and I thought my heater was done but the tech was able to do something. He opened it up and there were some ground wires that needed to be reattached. The heater then started working. Everything was good. The tech was there for around 40 minutes.

I have American Home Shield in case of emergencies or if something stops working and I don't have to pay a lot of money out of pocket. I used them a year ago for a restroom and they helped out. They sent another person who fixed the toilet. So far, so good. I would recommend American Home Shield. For the amount of money I'm paying, the home warranty gives me peace of mind. We've been with American Home Shield for 20 years, if not a little bit more, and I feel like their customer service has declined as time has gone on. The technicians are mostly lazy. The people that they use and send out get their copay and they come out and everything's kind of bare minimum. We had an issue in September 2019. My bathroom shower downstairs was stopped up. We gave them a call and they sent somebody out. The guy was here for about 10 minutes and said that there must be something in our drain, like a child must have thrown a toy in there. My children are adults and teens. I left for a cruise when this was going on so I was talking to them while I was at sea and they were not helpful. We ended up unclogging the drain ourselves. I just found a local plumber that I go to without using American Home Shield because it's throwing away money.

Also, we had an issue with our pool pump and the pool guy that they chose said it was my fault. I don’t know how it's my fault my pump went out. It's Las Vegas. Pumps run for hours in the summer and things are not built to last like they may have been 30 or 40 years ago. The pool pump ends up going out every three years. At some point, he stated that he was gonna let American Home Shield know not to cover my pool pump because it was our issue and that irritated me.

In 2021, my washer went out so we had the option to purchase a new one or have them ship me out one. They did ship it out and I got it. A month in, the washer went out and now the part that they needed is on backorder. I ended up having to buy another washer and then put that one outside because it was months before they actually came and dealt with it. I have two washers now with a brand new one sitting in a box.

When we first started with American Home Shield, the premium was $55 a month and it's almost $100 a month now. Service call fees used to be $50 and they're now $75. With a water heater claim, they covered a certain amount and then I ended up having to come out of pocket $700. There were some new requirements, like earthquake stuff that American Home Shield didn't wanna cover. It's starting to feel like they're covering less and less and charging more and more.

I had a great service recently I can't complain about, though. My dryer went out and the company they sent out was someone I've used before and they were fantastic. But as far as communicating or speaking with people at American Home Shield, they do not care. I had a circumstance where a gentleman came out and he said he couldn't help us and left. When I called American Home Shield, they refused to give me back the service call money.

All my calls now get sent over to another country, which is fine if that person actually cared about my complaint. But I'm being read a script from somebody who's 5,000 miles away and does not care about my problem. And trying to get a hold of a supervisor to escalate something is like pulling teeth in the 1700s. Their customer service is some of the worst that I have dealt with in my life. I try to do everything through the app unless I have to talk to somebody. I've recommended them to so many people. If somebody asked me 10 years ago how I felt, it would have been lovely but the last 5 to 7 years have been trash.

The very next day, it got warm outside so about a week, I didn't use my furnace. But when I turned it back on, it completely went out.

I called and American Home Shield sent Crown Temperature Heating and Cooling. The first guy that initially came out and did the diagnosis was a sweetheart. I asked him to take the thermostat that they offer through Commonwealth Edison and put the old one back on. He went out of his way and was extra nice. He reassured me that he was gonna check everything out. When he checked it out, he said I needed a new furnace which I already knew because the thing sounded like it was a airplane coming on. It was another two guys that came out to install the furnace. They were nice and professional too. The furnace is a lot quieter than the other one I had.

It used to be that everything that was not working right, they tried to fix it. I'm a real estate broker and sell American Home Shield policies. I sold one to my son and we were given outside authorization to get another company, which I have used with outside authorization several times in our area. When that authorization was given, the company gave their bid of 4,500 to replace the furnace. They kept saying they were processing it but it was denied. Then they said they had to get another company in to do it. I met with them the night before last at the property. They diagnosed that the furnace was producing carbon monoxide in the home and that we had to sign a document saying we would not use the furnace and they were going to replace the furnace.

They also had an air conditioner claim in August that was not addressed. They said that needed to be replaced again. But there is back and forth, trying to find out when they are going to get this done. It's now into a very cold season for the family and we're in the process of trying to get that done. In the meantime, they had a company called Front Door send me two different quotes saying that I would pay 4,000-something and 6,000-something for an upgrade and nothing about the claim that said I had to pay 1,200 just for the things that weren't covered on the home warranty and 1,400 on the air conditioner that weren't covered. We were agreeable to that.

I had a very positive experience when Sears came out but I've had a very bad relationship this time with American Home Shield. I feel it's smoke and mirrors. All the other claims that I've had with the company, even including my home, replacing an air conditioner, they let my outside authorization company that I've been using do it for $6,500. We paid them, and they sent me a check. On this one, I have no idea why they wouldn't let the authorization go through and let my company do it since they gave me outside authorization. I understand that the person that calls you when you call in doesn't have any authority for anything. But when I asked to speak with someone of higher authority, they just would tell me, "You're gonna get the same answer as what I'm giving you." That's not acceptable to me. It would be hard for me to sell another policy.

My claim experiences have been 50/50. Their coverage is not as supportive of the homeowner. My AC issue is still not resolved. The last group they sent did a workaround that removed parts from my unit instead of fixing the problem. The tech shared that there was nothing he could do at that point to fix the issue. It was gonna take more and American Home Shield would have to approve the claim or figure out what they would cover for it. Because of the workaround, the electrical pieces are not fully operational. Now they're coming to try and fix that. It's been sitting in review for AHS for two weeks now and they're supposed to be reviewing the case to see what the next steps are. I'm waiting to hear back from them on that and I don't have any heat currently at my house. I called the contractor to see if we could set the appointment and to ask what they were waiting on. They said that they would reach out to AHS too to get a follow-up on what was needed.

I don't know how educated or empowered a lot of AHS' customer service agents are, so I don't know how much is in their control and not in their control. But it's very hit-and-miss on how helpful they are. Also, with the coverage, I have to work really hard to push them to cover what they need to cover. It's a lot of contract discussion and negotiations are not as friendly in the process.

On the other hand, I wasn't very happy about my first experience because the problem wasn't fixed and I was charged. They came out to fix my refrigerator. The guy said that the water needs to be shut back on and that was the problem. I called the plumber and the water was shut on, but it wasn't the problem. The refrigerator still doesn't work.

Once the plumber has finished, AHS should automatically have someone else finish the sheetrock and the wall.

Every time the techs come, they try and fix my refrigerator. The first guy thought he fixed it but then it started to do the same stuff all over again. The sensor board was replaced a couple of times. But there was snow all over the freezer and I couldn't keep anything in it. The last tech was great. He took the back off and it was all frozen. He finally declared it was dead. AHS sent us different options. We could get a refrigerator or we could go to Lowe's and have a certain amount but pay the delivery fee. So we went with the first option and they would bring it and hook it up. We got a notification yesterday that they are going to be delivering the replacement.

We are pleased with AHS. You need this home protection. It's the best. The customer service reps have all been nice.

I usually submit claims online, and it's simple. When my heater was not working, I did the claim around 11:00 pm, then a technician came in the next morning and right away, he told me what was wrong. The computer of the furnace wasn't sending the signal for the gas to open. He had to change that part and it had to be ordered. It was the weekend, and by that Tuesday, he had the part. He came out on Wednesday, and the issue was taken care of. Overall, American Home Shield is good. When I call them, they always help me. Their price is fair, and I found that they're the best in terms of coverage.

The service is great, but customer service is not that great. I don't know where the customer service line is from, but there is a language barrier. When I call, I don't ever get somebody that's fluent or understands what I'm trying to say. My last claim was during the holiday. It was for a water heater, and the gentleman said he couldn't get to my house for about five days, so I tried to call Home Shield. I was on the phone for three hours trying to get somebody and I asked them if I could speak to somebody that I could understand but they wouldn't pass me. So, I hung up and tried to call again to get somebody. After the third hour, I finally got ahold of somebody that was fluent and they helped me out. They told me what I needed to do.

I like American Home Shield. They're really quick on giving the contract to an individual or company, and then they call right away and that's very good. I already know who's gonna come to the house within hours of me making a claim, and the company American Home Shield contracts with is professional. They come out here, explain to me what's gonna happen, and all the information I need is there. They're very knowledgeable in their work and the policies. That's what I like.

American Home Shield saved me four times. One time, my heater went out. Another time, my AC went out. Then my hot water heater started leaking everywhere last week. All the things have been fixed in a timely manner. I can't say enough good things about American Home Shield. The technicians have been great. There were other guys that were all right. There's a shortage of workers possibly. One dude spoke good English. The other dude was sketchy. I noticed that they were here and I had to put my dogs in the room. One guy helped himself into my house. I don't want people just letting themselves into my house.

The hot water heater claim had an issue, but I don't think that fell on American Home Shield. The microwave I got replaced is making a weird squeaking noise, which leads me to believe American Home Shield can't make a profit if they're selling or producing top-end appliances for people. They gotta be able to make money somewhere. So, I'm wondering if the quality of the appliances is suffering. Overall, I tell everybody about American Home Shield. They saved me tens of thousands.

My AC started acting up. I was under the gold plan with American Home Shield. I had a vendor come out. They checked out the AC, told me what I needed. AHS called me and told me the price out of pocket would be about 2,000 something dollars. So, I thought about it. I called the day after and spoke to someone. I said, "I do not have $2,000 to fix this, but I know that your platinum shield plan will cover at least the Freon.” Because from what I was told, the Freon was $1,500. They cover the first $10 per pound, and I needed 15. It was a lot.

I said, "I hear that your next tier will cover that. If I get that, then would that cover what I need". And the person said, "Let me ask my supervisor." So they asked their supervisor, came back, said that I could get the platinum plan. It would cover everything that is needed. But in order for me to get my AC covered under the platinum plan, I would need to have a vendor come out again. This is all happened within three days of each other. So, I paid to upgrade. When I first got the gold shield plan, they had a special running where you get half off the normal price for the first year. So, I paid $419 for the year. When I upgraded, that promo was no longer running. So, I had to pay an extra 419 and 120, so 539 in order to pay the full price for the platinum plan, which is the next tier. And to have another vendor come out for the same issue, I had to pay $125 again.

The vendor came out and it has now been five days since the first vendor come out. The second vendor came out after I've had my AC off for those five days because of what the first vendor told me. And the second vendor was, "Your system has a slow leak, but it is not bad enough for insurance to actually cover it. So what I recommend is that you keep running your system and that when it gets bad again, then you give a call, your insurance. They'll have us come out and fix it." So I said, "Okay."

Recently, I got an email saying, "It's time for your free tune up. There is no cost to you for us to check your system. But if you need work, then there will be a cost." So, I had another vendor come out just to get my HVAC a tune up. And lo and behold, the issue that was happening in April and May is still happening. So, I called my insurance to get it fixed and they told me that because the work order under the previous plan I had was created under the previous plan is still a thing, I have to pay what I had under the previous plan, which is the $2,155.

I've called seven times in the past month. The first person that I talked to ignored what I said and did not bother to say anything about, "I see you have the new plan. But because it's an old plan, you're gonna have to pay the 2,000." So I said, "Okay. Can you tell me how much I would pay under my current plan for Freon? How much of that $2,000 is for Freon?" All of a sudden, I'm getting told, “I'll have to call you back tomorrow. I need to check some things." So, I got a call the next day and the lady said, "You're gonna have to pay the $2,000." And they sent us the authorization team a couple of times, and they denied it each time. They tried to get the AC covered under my new plan. I am now trying to get it canceled.

I called and asked to speak to the supervisor and for them to find the calls. I'm already hard of hearing. I would sometimes get somebody with an accent that I would have a hard time understanding. It has been a job just to try and get someone to understand what I'm saying and what happened. I'm tired of it. And it's hot here in Georgia or it's too cold. I need my HVAC. It's frustrating. I called somebody else last week, told them I was going to cancel and they said that they would liaise with the authorization team for me and update me this week. But I told them, "If y'all haven't gotten an answer by today, Tuesday, I'm just gonna cancel." Because I've already contacted another warranty company to get this fixed.

I've been with American Home Shield for a few months. There was a claim regarding my washing machine. I've been having some issues with it. Each time I load it up, whether the load is small or large, I hear some cracking noise, especially when it starts. This last time I contacted AHS, I heard the noise through the cycle from beginning washing and spinning. I was concerned that the washer would stop in the middle of the cycle. So, I contacted AHS to take a look at it and let me know what to do. The recommendation was to replace parts in the washer.

As far as submitting the claim, I went online and scheduled the appointment. They contacted me to come in and take a look at it. I described what was happening with the washer to the first technician who came in. He proceeded to order some parts to repair it. When the parts came in, they may have been damaged en route to my house. So, the second technician who showed up indicated that the parts were not usable. He proceeded to reorder the part, especially the one that appeared to have been damaged when it was being shipped to my place. In total, it didn't take very long. The first technician came in a week before last. When he ordered the part, I thought it would take very long but early the following week, all the parts came in.

The AHS technician tried to contact me a number of times to ensure the parts had been received before coming in, but I was so busy. I work from home and they were interrupting me during meetings. So, I did not respond to the call. The second technician, before leaving my house, ordered the same part to ensure that it arrived in a timely manner for them to come in and repair the washer. Now, it is operating okay. Overall, since becoming a member, I've been satisfied with some of the services I have requested from AHS. It is a good service. I've never been a fan of this kind of service and this is not the first home that I've owned but I've come to value the service they provide. I would recommend it to anyone. It's worthwhile.

I called American Home Shield on a Thursday night and put in a claim that my central air was not operating properly. The next day, I received a notice as to who it was going to be assigned. Since this was my first claim, I didn't know what was what. It was about 11 o'clock the next day when I received a call. I called American Home Shield, and they advised me that I could reach out to the company. I did reach out to them, and they told me that it would be Monday. They said that they were all booked up. I did call back to American Home Shield and asked them if there was someone else.

The company did let me know the block of time, which I didn't really care for because it was from 10:00 to 4:00. Normally when dealing with companies for whatever, they kind of block you four hours, but this was six hours. They showed up. They called when they were in my driveway and I reported that to that company. They finally admitted that it is their procedure for 15 minutes to 30 minutes that they will give a call. I said that did not happen.

The work was performed by the two technicians. One technician was specifically very personable. The other one was a little bit standoffish. However, he doesn't have to be all smiley face. They performed the job and later on that day, it got a little warm. So, I turned on the AC and it didn't work. I reached back out and went through the same procedure again. That was about 3:00 that day that I called American Home Shield. I didn't receive a call from that company for that the next morning. I was a bit flustered then. It's up to the customer and they need to be proactive and call.

They told me to give the company another chance. However, if this didn't work, they would have assigned another company. The more personable technician came out. He spent some time. We talked and seems like we got the problem taken care of. We tested it, which was something that didn't happen the first time. Then, they saw it was blowing cool air. The good thing was that when they came back out, it was the guy that was more of a smiley face. I told him, "I'm glad you are the person that showed up because I actually gave a favorable report for you and your partner." I didn't wanna dig into him any more than that and I just left it at that. I had to pay $125. I felt that that was reasonable. Every time I spoke to someone in American Home Shield, everybody was professional. I did talk and make several calls and it was different people, and everybody was courteous and trying to take care of me.

And AHS send guys out twice a year if I call for free maintenance. And they all are thorough. The last got better, because sometimes it would take a while for them to assign me. And one thing I don't like with them is I have a certain company that works on my unit all the time and they know our unit, and a lot of times they don't wanna assign me to that company. I know that company could be busy and AHS may have to assign with another company. But I usually know a company that comes out and they know my unit.

I thought I smelled gas in the furnace. But when AHS told me the contractor was coming out, because I called the company that has the furnace, and they told me don't worry about it because there was nothing wrong with the furnace. But I found out there was a gasoline container that I had in my garage. May Heating came out and checked. They said there wasn't a problem. They did the service, whatever is free the first trip they came out. They could come out again for free for the same problem after 15 days. But I canceled them.

They sent me an appointment. The night before they would come out, it was after 6:00 when they texted me, and they said they were coming out the following day. So, I texted them back and said, “I no longer need your service because I got the problem resolved.” Because there was some gas inside the garage. But the guy still came out. He called and said he was on his way. So, I said, “I did text you. You text me very late at night, after 6 o'clock, said you were coming out. You didn't even give me any notice, even though I did give you whatever. The problem has been solved, so I don't need you to come out.” So, they didn't have to come out.

They were able to tell me what the problem was and how the problem was going to be executed. They kept me abreast about what was going on all through the process. On one of the days that they weren't able to show up as initially stated in the email, the vendor assigned to get it done reached out to me to tell me that there was some logistics issue with his car and he wasn't going to do it on that day. He scheduled it for another day. On the day that he said he was gonna come in, he was able to come take care of the issue.

American Home Shield is great. I have a policy with them in Richmond, Virginia and one in Silver Spring. The one in Richmond has been about going five years. The one on Silver Spring is almost 10 years now. I like the ability to have coverage for appliances and devices that can break down unexpectedly. I recommend American Home Shield. Give them a shot. The only thing they need to work on is their premiums are a little higher. If they can review my premium, that'd be great.

After the service is completed, American Home Shield sends me an email to close the loop and just ask me how that company was. I give them my honest opinion.

American Home Shield's contractors are really good. The HVAC person I had was amazing. My unit is 40 feet up on the roof. Most companies do not come out. It took us a minute to find somebody with American Home Shield that would get up there. They didn't have a person so it took us calling a bunch of places that they contract with to find out if they would be willing to get up there. Most of them have to lean one ladder and climb up one ladder to get to the destination. But none of them would do that because they said, “It's a two-ladder pull.” I said, “No, it's not. You use the same ladder. You use one ladder to get up to the top of my patio and then you pull that ladder up. And then you go to the top.” You don't need a 45-foot ladder.

We ended up finding our own person and it just so happened they contract with American Home Shield. We wrote their name down, knowing that we have a roof that not a lot of local companies will go on because of the height, because it's a condo. We kept their phone number so we'll just specifically request them if we have an HVAC issue because we already know who is able to do it. The tech got up there and fixed our HVAC unit. It was a wiring issue that could have burned the place down. They were amazing so I've told other people about them. That was a really good experience.

When I bought this place two and a half years ago, part of what we negotiated within the price was for one year that we’d be protected by the home warranty stuff. We went through American Home Shield and I would just have to pay the deductible. After the one year was up, we had to use it one time during that time frame of the dishwasher. After the one year was up, they said, “Do you wanna renew with us?” And I said, “Well, let's negotiate the price.” I was able to negotiate a better price than what they originally quoted me. And so, then I said, “Yeah. Then I'll do it.” I paid them. I pay the monthly premiums myself now. Whenever I need a service, I call them and pay the $100 deductible and it's really easy. I feel better. I know a lot of people don't like home warranty companies, but it's covered three pretty big things for me so it's been worth it for me.

They sent an electrician out when the outlet on my patio didn't work. I got an appointment within a couple of days and that was great. I asked for a specific day and they were able to accommodate it. The electrician came out, identified the problem, and fixed the outlet within 15 minutes. I'm glad I did American Home Shield. The HVAC issue was huge and that would have been very costly had I not had the warranty. And getting an electrician out here, I was happy to pay the $100 deductible to get that issue fixed after two years of not having any power on my patio.

I had a plumber come out and fix under my sink and it just cost me a flat fee. I called in because my pipes under the sink were rusted out and I wanted it to be replaced, but American Home Shield put it down as a faucet with that. They tried to charge me a double fee and I said, "Absolutely not." They had that recorder on and it wouldn't listen. So, when I got the call from the plumbing company, I let them know that it was not my fault. I explained to the rep what was wrong. I didn't call in for my faucet. I called in for the pipe under the sink. So, they fixed it. The company canceled that and redid it, and the rep said they didn't charge me a double fee. So, I'm waiting for my Visa to come through to make sure they didn't.

That automatic system that I call in sucks. I have to keep calling AHS back and wait and get the same recorder. And it's not what is wrong and I would try to correct it but it wouldn't let me. They need to update it so I could talk to a person to explain. If it wasn't for the fact that it's a good deal and the people they send to my house are good, I would have dropped them two times ago. But I like the people they send out. Those that come out for my air and the plumber are very professional. I just have to make sure that the correction is in and they don't charge me a double fee.

Everything was fixed in about two to three weeks because we were waiting on parts. I had a good experience, but I would not recommend AHS. This is the third time I called them on the same issue and the other people said they can't fix it. They don't have the parts. They were telling me it was an electrical problem. It wasn't a refrigerator problem. It took three times for me and I had to pay out of pocket the other two times, too. Also, when I talk to them on the phone, the customer service is horrible. I'm gonna be changing another company because it's too expensive. I can pay with another company the same amount I pay for one year and they give me three years.

For a day and a half, I didn't have heat. The AC unit would click on and click off. I turned it off because we had some nice days where I didn't need heat in the evening. When the temperature dropped back down and I needed heat, I turned it back on and it started making a really loud weird noise. It would click on for a little bit, heat up a little bit, and then just click off.

I called 1st Choice Quality because the last time I had an issue and I had done a claim through American Home Shield, they were the ones that were sent out. Since 1st Choice Quality did a good job, I started a maintenance plan with them. I was like, “Okay. I don't wanna file another claim right now. I'll just see what it is. It may be something minor. And I'll just pay out of pocket for it.”

When the serviceman got out here and did the diagnostic test, he told me that the fan was gone. I asked how much the fan was and he told me the price. I could not do that price. He said, "Your only other option is to go ahead and call your service warranty company, let them know we're already out here, and we are vendors for them, and see if they will just take our word for it. But then just keep in mind they may send somebody else out ‘cause they have their own protocol.” I called American Home Shield and I spoke with the representative. It took a while because at first, she said they were gonna send out a company that they had previously sent out for a plumbing issue. I said, “Why would you send them out when we already got the company that you sent out the last time I had an AC issue?" It was a lot of back and forth.

I said, “I don't really have time. I’m a disabled vet. I’m cold. I need my heat. Can I speak to your manager?” She said she didn't have a manager so I said, “Oh, yeah, you got a manager. We all got managers...” She went away for a while then came back and asked about the company that was with me at that time. I told her 1st Choice Quality. I had already given her my credit card information for the deductible. She put me on hold for a few minutes and then transferred me to her supervisor. I explained to him the situation and he said, “Oh, yeah. They're already there. They're a vendor of ours. We’d go ahead and use them.”

Because it took so long, the serviceman had to leave because they had other customers that they had to go to. The supervisor wanted to speak to the person and I said, “He's gone because I've been on the phone for about 30 minutes, trying to get this taken care of...but he emailed me the information and he told me just to let him know what the outcome is. And then he will have their office order the part. And he could be able to come back out the next day if that company was approved." American Home Shield went ahead and approved that. They called the main office and gave him a work order number. They ordered the part and the next day, 1st Choice came out and installed the part.

All in all, I'm not very dissatisfied with American Home Shield but sometimes they take you through so much. For instance, I had to pay twice for a unit that I got. Something was wrong with the unit. Whatever the repairman did, it lasted for 45 days then it went out. I called and American Home Shield made me pay another deductible even though it was on the same problem and it was the same heating unit. They said it was out of the 30 days. I said, “Yeah. It's out of the 30 days, but it's not like I'm asking for something for my washer or my dryer.” Sometimes, the policy is not really looking out for the consumer. It’s more about making money.

Despite that, I do tell people about American Home Shield because we live out in a rural country. Sometimes, you get a handyman and little people who can do little things. I personally don't like using them because there's no guarantee. Something breaks and they don't fix it. You might not be able to reach them for a month or so. That's why I like my warranty company. I've had good service through them. It's just it takes a lot and you have to really be forceful.

I got my mom on the plan as well. She is 83 years old. She's been without heat for almost a month because of the company that American Home Shield sent out. They're saying they ordered the part and it's on backorder. I called them several times. My mom needs heat and we had to keep checking on her. She's got a little gas heater that she was using as her backup. But she had to stay in her bedroom. She's got a little electric heater in her bathroom and then she's got the gas heater in her bedroom. That's dangerous for 83-year-old. The service company still had not come out. I contacted the actual company and they said they still haven't gotten the part yet. It shouldn't take that long to get a part, especially for somebody that's 83 years old. They had been out to her house before for the unit having problems.

I've had American Home Shield in my old address for years. I got the tune-ups in the winter and the check-ups in the spring. I had to use it for a refrigerator, a garbage disposal 13 years ago. When I moved in here, the previous owners left their washer and dryer. The dryer was not working. The guy came out and got it working, but it smelled like burning rubber and he didn't seem concerned about that. He apologized. He said it was probably an old belt that needed to warm up. But he was an awesome person and we laughed about it and tried to figure out how old it was. At that point, I had already made up my mind I would buy a new one.

AHS replaced my blown hot water heater but I still had to pay $1,800. I questioned why my part was so much. It was $3,000 to replace it. I had the Big Daddy. It's 50 gallons or more, which is unusual. AHS told me $1,800 was all they would cover. So, I had to pay that. Other than that, I've been happy. I could have had to pay a lot more if I didn't have it. Since I live alone, it's a security that I got somebody to reach out to say, "Help." It's a relief on my mind. Just like we've got health insurance, our house needs health insurance sometimes.

They brought out a compressor to install it and they were able to turn the compressor on the old one. But they found a leak and they put in new Freon. They were out in about 50 minutes. They were good guys. I've had AHS for a long time and the only problem I've ever had with them was a thing on replacing a shower valve. They only do cartridges. Outside of that, they've been very good about everything and most of the contractors are good people. They've got some subs that didn't work out too well but for the most part, they have been very good. Also, their pricing is okay. When you're down here in the desert with four heat pumps, refrigerators, and everything else that can go wrong and the cost of everything these days, insurance is the smart way to go.

Also, I call them to file claims and I’m in no way prejudiced but you just can't understand the reps sometimes. I'm having a problem right now where the motor went out in my furnace. I had been calling and they weren't understanding.

First, they were telling me that I had an order put in for floors. They got past that and gave me a company that I didn't want because I read the reviews on them and they were really bad. The young lady told me that she would go ahead and cancel the order. But she didn't cancel it because that company eventually called me back and said that they had to order from American Home Shield. They had to cancel it on their end. Then, American Home Shield got me another company and I had to call and make sure that they didn't cancel the order that I previously had. It's stuff like that that's irritating.

I called American Home Shield a couple of times and the reps were very nice. One time, it was out of the state and the rep wasn't clear. He was repeating whatever question I asked, and I knew that he was reading a scripture. He wasn't answering my question. So, I was dissatisfied. But the contractors came out fast enough. But unfortunately, they misdiagnosed my heating system. The technician said that there was carbon monoxide and he shut off my heating system. They told me that I needed a new heating system, which would cost $8500. I got four other plumbers on my own. I paid from my pocket to them just to make sure. They tested the carbon monoxide in my house. I have seven detectors and nothing has happened. They fixed my heat system and it's working. I didn't need to change my heating system. So it was all a scam. I'm very, very disappointed with Home Shield.

When I canceled my service, the rep started scaring me that there was carbon monoxide. Everybody came and tested and I have been in the house since yesterday, I haven't died yet. I'm still alive. There's no carbon monoxide in the house. That's not nice what they're doing to customers. Yesterday, I bought four of the five detectors, that my husband installed, and every one of them is okay.

We have a Whirlpool refrigerator and we were changing the filter. We are on well water, which means that there's much more sediment than you would typically get on a city municipal water system. When we changed the filter, the water flow suddenly stopped. One of the procedures is that you're supposed to run 128 ounces through and throw it away once you replace the filter. We were about halfway through that, and water just stopped coming. So, that was when we initiated the claim with American Home Shield.

A fellow came out and in fairly short order. It was difficult because this is not a refrigerator you can just pull in and out of the space. It's sort of completely physically mounted to the entire opening and screwed in. So, it's difficult to take a look and see what was going on. But he was able to fairly quickly figure out that our issue was the valve had become fouled. So, that was why when you put your cup up to the water, nothing would come out. You'd hear a click but no actual flow would happen. So, we had a damaged valve, and it needed to be replaced. This was in July and he gave us an initial estimate of the beginning of September for when the part would be available. It was on fairly deep backorder. So, we checked in at the beginning of September and they said, “Oh, now, it's gonna be the end of September.”

We checked at the end of September and they said it might be another month. This was through the actual repair folks that we were interacting with directly, Shaw's Appliance. They said, “We're really sorry, but we only have the information that Whirlpool gives us in terms of availability. But just keep checking back.” Shortly after that September 26th phone call, the part came in. So, that was great. The guy came out, replaced the part and took off. I was very satisfied with the technician from Shaw's. He really earned his pay later on because within 24 hours, I noticed that there was water leaking from underneath the refrigerator.

I called him and he was in the middle of his dinner. He lived near me and he stopped his dinner and came right over because the idea of water leaking behind the refrigerator that you can't move and you can't see what's actually going on is an emergency type situation. He said, “The part they gave us is bad.” When they restocked this particular part, they got at least one additional unit. Because this time, the wait on the part was more like a week. When the part came, I got a call back and a guy came out and was very thorough in the installation and then walked me through some ways that I can keep an eye out for water leaking. Over the past couple of weeks, everything has been fine.

Between the Whirlpool refrigerator and the heater, we had some heating issues very soon after we moved in, and American Home Shield saved me a lot of money. For the refrigerator claim, I paid the $75 service fee initially to set up the appointment and I've had two in-home visits from a technician. That's a pretty good savings over what I would have had to pay out of pocket. Everybody I've dealt with at American Home Shield has been awesome.

I had no power to my thermostat. I submitted a claim through American Home Shield's website. Originally, I thought it was an HVAC unit concern because my heater wasn't turning on. Then the HVAC technician came out and said, "No, the unit itself is working properly. It was the fact that there was no power going to the unit. I then put in a second claim to have an electrician come out to see what the power was. The issue was in the power. So, the first claim was through the HVAC, and the second claim was through an electrical concerning no power. I paid two co-pays.

The tech from Safewire was a good guy. He came in, saw that the thermostat wasn't powered, so he went back to the breaker box and then could see that a breaker was not resetting. He did a little systems check. He checked all the breakers, but it was the one to the HVAC. Both the heater and AC were connected to one breaker. So, he took that dead breaker off and then put two individual breakers. So, they'll be pulling from HVAC through one breaker and the heater through the other. In the check, he noticed a burnt component that was not looking good and he had me look at it. He fixed it.

So, initially, the thermostat came on, my HVAC unit was able to start up right away, and then closed everything up. He said he was gonna look into this other piece that he said could be an issue in the future, and that he doesn't know if that was the cause to whatever led to the breaker going out. We're doing really good. AHS is easy to work with. They come in and get things either replaced or repaired and it's a quick and easy experience. They're really good. That's why I continue to renew the yearly membership. If something goes wrong, I don't think about it. I just contact American Home Shield and they send out a technician right away.

Also, at times, I don't think AHS is worth the money. Some of the contractors they send out here are a little less to be desired and I don't think they're very selective on their contractors. The pool guy is really good but we have to specifically ask for that company because they'll send out another company that has ripped us off before.

Two or three years ago, we had a bad snowstorm and temperatures were well below freezing. It’s not a regular thing here in Texas. We had a crack in one of the pipes and when I called, I told the person that and that they're gonna have to wait until the snow melts because you can't really see the equipment. The pool company in McKinney, Texas called me and their tech said he was on his way out. I told him he was not gonna be able to do anything but he came out anyway.

My wife was working from home. She heard him pull up in the driveway in the back and he went through the gate to the pool equipment, peeked around the corner of the fence, got back in his van, and started to drive off. She opened the garage door and was flagging him down. He looked at her but kept driving. Then, we got a phone call from somebody saying that he said we needed a brand-new filter at the cost of $3,000 but he didn't even look. I called AHS and requested for a different guy who had been here before to fix it. He fixed it for the deductible and it’s been working fine since.

It's not always immediate, but American Home Shield eventually gets the job done. I usually get a text with every step of the claim, so I'm usually well-informed. I had to have a door replaced on the washer, and I had to have some knobs fixed on the stove. The person's attitude was pleasant. One visit was to initially assess what needed to be done, and then the second visit, which was about a week later, was them fixing the issue. It took about two hours to fix both issues. I would like American Home Shield to be a little quicker. But for the money, they're worth it.

We had this fridge that broke and the claim is still not resolved. It's been forever and not having the fridge working is a major headache. The year before, we had another fridge break and the attitude was totally different. The claim was resolved super fast. This time, the tech got to see the fridge very quickly but after that, there was nothing. I went to check with American Home Shield but their system didn't even show he had visited. I called the contractor and they didn't know they had already visited. They said that they already sent the estimate for a part and it was in AHS's hands to decide what to do.

All I got was a message from AHS that they had to examine our eligibility. We got the insurance having the impression that all appliances were covered. If that changes when we actually need insurance, I intend to move to a different company with all three properties ‘cause that's very wrong. Also, it's unlikely they'll find a part ‘cause they don't make the fridge anymore. It's a very good fridge, but it's old.

There was an electrical fire in the furnace and the contractor called me shortly after I submitted the claim even though it was late at night because he saw the issue and wanted to make sure that everything was safe. I explained what happened and he asked me some follow-up questions. We submitted the claim on Saturday night and he was out Monday afternoon because he didn't have Sunday hours. He was fantastic and I'd hire him again on my own. I ended up recommending him to somebody who I had gotten some things from Facebook Marketplace while she was still here.

American Home Shield is worth it. Especially now when funds are tight and emergency funds are low, I wouldn't have been able to swing $5,000 to replace that furnace. When my sister gets a house of her own, I'm gonna tell her to get a warranty and I'll recommend AHS because I've had a great experience. It's been the complete opposite of my experience with the other company doing my home warranty, where it was just a headache.

I've been with AHS for seven years and I like that in case something happens, there would be coverage there. It takes away the panic of something going wrong. They've been dependable. I haven't had any claims issues and everything has been an easy process. I had an issue with the HVAC system recently. I called them and spoke to a rep. She was fine. They sent me emails and texts, and then the company followed up. They wanted to confirm my address. I was really impressed with the vendors. I hadn't heard of them before, but they were friendly. They called ahead of time. A lady also sent me a text with the person's name and a picture of the person, so I knew who to expect. It was a good experience. Before they did it, they also told me what would be needed. When it was finished, they told me what we needed. They said that they were sending the follow-up to American Home Shield. I requested a copy of that and they emailed me also.

I had my air conditioner serviced for winter. AHS sent me a picture of who's coming so it can't be anybody phony pretending to be them. The techs were friendly enough. They knew what they were doing and they told me. They found that one of the motors was bad and they replaced that through American Home Shield. I like that other than the $85 I have to pay upfront, I don't have to worry about anything going wrong with the appliances in my home.

The contractor was polite. The tech explained everything he was doing. He was pleasant and polite. He told me the fire of the heating didn't come up because of the weather. It wasn't cold enough out there. But he tightened all the wires up. I asked questions and he explained it. I said, "I don't mean to ask all these questions, but I just like to know." He said, "I'm glad you asked. People need to know what somebody is working on and what they're doing." I was very comfortable with him in my home. AHS needs to get somebody who can speak English. The rep could barely speak it. I couldn't understand a word she said. Also, every time I turn around, AHS is going up in price. I don't like that and that they don't inform me about it. Other than that, I've had a good experience with them.

Underneath the sink, the sump pump was not working. When I run my dishwasher, it would overflow underneath. The tech noticed that the drain was leaking too. He fixed the drain and said, "There's nothing wrong with your sump pump. It's working now." But it was getting hung up. After he left, I had to fix it. I took it out from underneath the sink, took it apart, cleaned it all up and had it working briefly. But the switch was probably bad in it. I didn't want the same people that came back before. AHS sent another guy out here who said it was shot and that it wasn't working. So they replaced it.

I like that in having AHS, it's nice to know if I have anything that breaks down, I can possibly get it fixed. However, if I'd call up there, it would be nice to be able to talk to somebody who could understand English. Sometimes it also could take a few days up to a week for somebody to get out here. I don't know how they respond if the emergencies are acted upon in that timeframe. That's not very good.

I had an issue regarding my microwave. It wouldn't warm the food and the door wouldn't close. I was told that a tech would reach out to me within 24 hours via email or phone call when I submitted a claim online. Via email, I received a notification that a Sears tech would be servicing me. The service provided by the Sears techs was A-plus. I really enjoyed them. Very polite, did the work and didn't leave a mess. They also answered questions that I asked. Currently, the microwave is working well, like back to its usual self.

Initially, I was with AHS when I bought my home in 2020. A friend referred me to them. There was a discrepancy with American Home Shield that I had and I didn't appreciate it. I had requested for a tech to come. I was given a phone number. I called the person continuously. The service person never answered. It got to the point, the dispatcher tried calling them and still didn't get a phone call. At that point, I was upset because here I was giving my information to an individual and they all didn't even know this individual. So now, this person has my information. I was upset over that. So I discontinued my service. But early part of this year I started back up. Now that I'm with them again, I have been referring people to go with AHS.

We had somebody come out and look at it a couple of times, but nothing really changed with the performance. They did some routine maintenance and that was it. We gave up at that point. In terms of the vendor selection on the air conditioning issue, I wasn't really impressed with the vendor that was selected. We also had an issue with the shower that ended up being the shower itself, and like the tub itself, wasn't covered by the warranty. But we had a refrigerator issue that got resolved well. Overall, my experience with AHS has been positive.

We were having some issues with our refrigerator unit. American Home Shield sent a vendor who was extremely rude and unprofessional. They recorded when they were in our home and brought their nine-year-old child while they were doing the repairs. They said they had done the work and left. But the problem continued. When they came back again, they were being rude. At one point, I had to tell him to stop because I was gonna call my husband. The tech said, "You don't have to bother your husband." And my husband heard that he was raising his voice at me. And he came from the other side of the house and he said, "You know what? Stop talking to my wife like that. Get out of our house." My husband said it was very unprofessional for them to bring a child to do the work. The tech said that he always brought the child because she was a witness. My husband told them to leave our home and that we would call AHS to send someone else.

F.A.S Appliance came and located the problem. We were told they were going to order parts to fix our unit. But someone called me and said that the parts were no longer available. Then they ordered a replacement unit. They had to wait because when the unit came in, I told them not to do anything because I was getting my roof repaired. When that finished, they were able to put the unit on the roof. The differences in the service we received from the first vendor and F.A.S was night and day. AHS has also sent other vendors and we've always been very happy with the service that we received.

I like having the AHS warranty and knowing it's there. I submit my claims to them online, which is easy. Recently, the power went out to our master closet and the breaker didn't trip. So instead of me fiddling with it, because it's electricity, I called someone in. R&R Electric's tech came out and he was wonderful. My mom's elderly and she was using the restroom which is in the master bedroom, and he came right when she went in there, so we sat and talked for 10 minutes until she came out. Then, it took him five minutes to get the issue fixed.

Also, I have two refrigerators and I had to do claims on both of them. The techs who'd come out have always said what was wrong, if they had to order a part and how long it was going to be, and when they'd be back. All in all, the AHS warranty is a great product. I'm a real estate agent and I offer this one to my clients. I tell them that I use American Home Shield so I can give them examples for that company. When my hot water heater went out, we typed it on the computer that the hot water heater went out. But AHS sent the job to a company that did heating and air. We found out when the company called us. I asked them if they worked on hot water heaters and they said no. So, I was trying to call AHS and there was nobody to call. There was a number but only their vendors that they use had the number to reach AHS at. I had to wait for that vendor a day later to reach out to them and tell them that they didn't do water heaters.

Meanwhile, my family was without hot water for a week before this got resolved, which was terrible. I had to put my family to get a hotel that was three miles away so they could take showers. If there was somebody who could pick up the call, that could have been resolved a whole lot quicker even though there was a mistake made. I also had to pay for the parts for my hot water heater and I had to pay the techs to expedite the repair because I got tired of sitting around with no hot water. I called AHS one other time and it was done by computer as well but there wasn't a problem.

I also had two garbage disposals that didn't work and they put new ones in. Then, there was a pipe on it that was broken and they fixed that. Aside from that, they put in a new faucet and I paid extra to have them put in my dishwasher. They did that all at once and it took close to three hours to finish. But when I first got the warranty, AHS told me the deductible would be $75. This time when I called them, they charged me 100, so I was a little upset about that. I did a claim with American Home Shield and that was pretty good, except they didn't have the wall oven-microwave combination in there. They only had the microwave or oven in it. I chose both of them and then I put the serial number and that worked.

A tech came out and reviewed it. He turned the unit on and then went home. It took him a day to put a request in for replacement because he was concerned about repairing it since it was overheating. The service company is finished with their part. They only came to troubleshoot it and to see if it could be repaired and put a recommendation in and did a good job on that. We're not finished with the claim yet and I'm still waiting for the replacement. So far, American Home Shield has been good except it takes forever to get the products. It's been two weeks now that we are without a unit.

The American Home Shield website I would be getting an email. It would be nice if I could log on to the website and get where the status is on the claim. The only option I saw in there was the alternative payment offer. I had to call and I had to be handed over to the appliance company and they sent me a website where I could then choose. Why couldn't that be all part of the process on the website? The email was good but put the information on the website toon because the email that they sent me went into spam. I didn't know they sent me an email except when I called.

I initially called American Home Shield because the bathroom was running. Water was squirting out of the bathroom faucet. When you turned it on, it wasn't flowing smoothly. It would spout out. Also, to check a leak in the washing machine. There was a leak in the hot water faucet. The faucet was fixed. The toilet wasn't running when he came. When I called to have it checked, it was quiet. It stopped running. So, he didn't do anything to the bathroom and the toilet, but it still runs off and on now. It's an ongoing thing. All he did with the washing machine was tighten one of the knobs and one of the screws to stop the leak. I asked him if that pipe had to be replaced. He said it was fine and it was just that the turning knob was loose. That was why the water was leaking.

He tightened the knob but he tightened it so much that I could not untighten it, which I needed to do because I put the hoses wrong. He didn't touch the hoses. So, someone suggested changing the hoses from the washing machine instead. But I thought the faucet that he had tightened was on the off position because it looked like it was in the off position. So, I began to unloosen the hose in the back of the washing machine. That was a mistake on my part because water gushed everywhere. I couldn't connect it back. I couldn't turn the faucet because he tightened it so tight, and so I was stuck. Luckily, the laundry room door is facing outside, and I was able to stretch the hose out towards the door. All the water started gushing out of the door.

I called the plumber the day he left because I did laundry and I put it in cold, but I got hot water. My laundry got washed in hot water. So, that was when I found out he did it too tight. I called them back that day and I said, “Hey, can he come back? He did it too tight. And I gotta switch the hoses.” They said, “Well, can't you just find somebody else, some guy to do it?” I told them that I just moved up here and I didn't know anybody. I said, “He's the one that did it, so I assume he can come.” The rep said, “He won't be down there till Monday.” I said, “Okay. I'll wait till Monday.” But they forgot about me.

They never scheduled an appointment. So I ended up hiring a plumber and I got lucky. He happens to live in my neighborhood and he turned off the water from the street and he was able to fix it. So I'm not gonna hire that plumber again. But that has nothing to do with how I communicated with American Home Shield. They were fine.

The serviceman from City First did a good job and on a timely manner. He kept in touch with me and let me know what time he was gonna get here. My concern is that when you have one serviceman in one area and he's at another house, it might take him longer. AHS should always have a backup and not just have one serviceman in each area. Also, they don't cover everything. They cover some of the appliance, but not the garage. Other than that, I would tell others it's a good service to have.

When I reach out to American Home Shield in the evening, it's fairly difficult to get an actual person. Usually by the time I'm able to call, everything is closed. When I needed some updates done to the electrical panel, I liked the timeliness of the tech coming out and explaining everything. Everything that he checked and what I was sharing with him that the inspector had said was an issue. But when he looked at it, he said it was not an issue and then he explained why. So all of that was great. The only thing I'm missing is a follow-up email. So I'll reach out to them.

I've used American Home Shield over the years and I've had pretty good service. For all the things that you don't know and understand, there's an expert on the other end of the line. Then they come out and take care of it for you. But I hate that all the prices keep going up every year, especially the payment that you have to do that was once 75 and now it's 100. When I started, it was only 55 a month and now it's 85.

Our dishwasher stopped working and I called American Home Shield. Nobody answered the phone. It was just an automatic recording that asked me what was wrong. I told them the dishwasher and they said they were sending a tech out and they sent me a text saying it would be Runyon Appliances. Then they contacted me in 24 hours. The technician came out and said the motherboard was bad and we needed to replace it. So, they ordered one. When it came in, they came out and put it in. Then the fuse went out, which he said was fairly common. When you put a new motherboard in, the fuse will go out. So, he put a fuse in and that worked fine.

With American Home Shield, I like that I don't have to look around for contractors and they have pretty much done their due diligence on their professionalism and the quality of work they do. If something goes wrong, I know I can get it fixed quickly. They've been very good for us. I'm very satisfied and I've told other people about it and they signed up with American Home Shield.

We did a claim for our dryer that cost us $100 for the guy to come out. Then we just had a problem with our garage door and it also cost us $100 for them to come out. The tech was here for about 10 minutes. He said it was an adjustment, and that was that. We could have gotten the people that sold us the garage door opener out here for less than $100. So American Home Shield is just not working for us. We've spent over $1,000, and right now, it's not seeming to be worth it.

I called American Home Shield to say we were gonna cancel it. I called at 8:30 at Eastern Standard Time and the rep was gonna transfer me to whatever department that was to cancel it. Then he came back and said that they don't open until nine o'clock. So I was gonna call back at nine o'clock. When I called back, I got a young lady, and she couldn't find our account. She said, “There's something wrong with the system or something. There must be something wrong with the system or you’ve given me the wrong number.” I repeated the number and the address. She was nice enough but whatever the case was, she just couldn't find us in the system by our phone number or the account number that we had. So then we hung up.

About half an hour later, I called them back and I got another young lady and she was able to help us. I don't like that on October 27th, we paid $80 for the monthly payment and I'm presuming that was for the month of November. But on top of that, they charged us another $80 for a cancellation fee. So, I wasn't happy with that.

That was on a Friday after 6:00, and somebody was contacting me on Sunday afternoon to set an appointment for Monday.

The tech was really professional and showed up on time. I asked him if he could call when he was on his way so that I wouldn't have to miss any time at work, and he gave me a 30-minute heads up that he was on his way. He got in and diagnosed the problem quick. He did have to order part, so he had to come back another day. But even when he came back, it was a quick fix. He came in, got it done, and no issues. If I did not have American Home Shield, I would have had to buy a new refrigerator. So it definitely saved me some money.

Then, the contractor did all the communication through text. I got the name and phone number of the contractor but I didn't talk to anybody but the technician. He was a doll and he didn't want banana bread.

I was totally tickled with AHS in California and I wouldn't have gone to any other company because I am totally thrilled with them. They replaced my air conditioner in California complete with a crane because it was on the roof. It was a $12,000 job and I paid $2,000. I like that the service doesn't cost me. I talked to this young man about what a new hot water heater would cost and he told me the amount. And I ended up paying 300 plus my service call which was less than a third of what a new one would cost me. So with AHS, I don't have to have thousands of dollars on hand if something breaks. The year before last, the techs also came out, looked at my fridge, and discovered that the issue wasn't my fridge at all. It was a breaker.

He said it was the compressor, the little black thing in the AC box out on the side of my house, and that there was a little silver thing that feeds into that compressor that was causing the issue. He got that fixed and the AC is working now. It's been pretty easy to work with AHS and they're able to get the service source fast. The communication’s there and the warranty is a good security blanket.

But there's no place to include notes. You can only do a couple of key tick boxes, unlike when I do a claim over the phone with them, I can give them the explanation then they always put that in the file so that the contractor who gets it gets all that information. Other than that, I got the name and contact information of the contractor and STA Services came out. Working with them has been pretty good. American Home Shield sends me pretty much the same people every time. The tech does what he's supposed to do and fixes the problem. Earlier this year, I had technicians come out for the AC unit. They said that didn't qualify to be fixed, which I don't understand why. All in all American Home Shield has been fine. They call you and give you somebody to come out. These people pretty much come out ASAP and they do everything else. It just comes down to when it's time to actually pay to get something fixed. From start to finish, it took half an hour. He left a little bit of a mess he made and cleaned it up on the spot. AHS should provide some information for customers to be careful of scammers out there saying they're from American Home Shield and they're not.

In 2021, they called and said that they were offering a three-year premium plan upfront for $3,000 and it was no service fees. You just call and they'll send a technician out. They kept sending these flyers but it didn't seem right. So, I contacted American Home Shield via phone and I emailed them all the stuff that I received and they said that was a scam, that it’s not from them and they do not offer multi-year plans. They said they appreciated it and they will look into trying to find out who it was. But they would enclose in future disclosure contracts that they offer a 12-month plan only and no extended cash upfront plan.

Our double oven caught fire and I called American Home Shield. It was extremely easy to submit the claim once I was able to understand what the person was saying on the other end. He had a very thick accent and it was hard to understand. Sears A&E, the contractor, called the next day and the repair person was here within just a few days. He was consistent, very polite, pleasant, and diagnosed immediately what the problem was. So, he was very easy to deal with. It was a three-week-long process though. It was no fault of Sears because the person that he spoke with to order the fan and the motor ordered the wrong part numbers and that was from LG. Therefore, we had to wait another whole week.

I'm trying to get my brother on board to get this for his home, so I'm pleased with American Home Shield so far. It’s been a great experience. We've had them for three years now. The plan that I have covers everything that we needed to cover, which includes all the appliances, the heating and cooling systems in the house and the garage door openers which when we bought the house had been broken. And we still need to have someone come out and look at that. I read our contract with American Home Shield and I realized that it covers faucets, ceiling fans and items like that, which I didn't know. So it's a big deal for us.

I was very favorably impressed with the first guy who came out. He did very thorough diagnostics and finally came to a conclusion as to what the problem was and came to a workaround that enabled me to continue living comfortably on the two floors of the house that I mainly use. He found an open duct and after that, he was waiting for parts from American Home Shield. That was in late August and then sometime in October, a different couple of guys finally came out. They were nice and surprisingly knowledgeable, conversationally cooperative, clean, courteous, polite and got the job done in an hour. They did their job and I was fine with that. They took a look at the problem and said they needed to get some parts. They came back with what amounts to duct tape and plastic hangers. So they were done in an hour.

The guys did their job efficiently but my question was why it took two months to get duct tape and vinyl hangers to fix this duct. I thought maybe it was gonna be some kind of special connector that they were waiting on. So if I had to spend a lot of time on the third floor, I would have pursued this much more aggressively and I would have been much more unhappy. I discussed this with Douglas Mechanical and they have agreed to give me a free heating system checkup with an $85 value. That doesn't recover two months of not having the third-floor air conditioner but it's an effort at trying to do the right thing. So I have them tentatively scheduled to come out Monday with another service call for an appliance.

I had American Home Shield many years ago and was unhappy with it. After some of the lawsuits got settled, they got much better and I tried them again. For the most part, it's good. The most recent unhappy experience I had was with a 14-year-old faucet handle fixture and the plastic part had broken. It was obviously wear and tear and apparently, the plumber that came out simply refused to accept wear and tear. So, I had to eat the cost of a new fixture and the installation, which got me upset because that was unjust and the appeal fell on deaf ears. I can always have a second person come out but that's a crapshoot. So I decided it was easier for me to handle it myself.

There was another instance on a rental property where I had a bad main water cut-off in the house. It was inside the wall so it was inside the perimeter of the slab and it was inside the structure. The guy that AHS sent out said it was gonna be $2,700 because it was not covered by AHS. He said they were gonna have to dig a ditch from my water main up to the side of my house and then give us an exterior main water. One of the pluses of this house is it's an interior main water so it won't freeze it rapidly. So they wanted like $2,700 for that and I said no. It doesn't warrant that so I hired my own plumber for 250 bucks and it got done perfectly well.

The first time we used American Home Shield, we needed a plumber to install a hot water dispenser in our kitchen. The guy wrote it up in such a way that changed the whole thing and American Home Shield refused to pay it so we got our own guy to do it. AHS paid $200 of the expense. The second time was for the air conditioning and they sent out a person who was good and did everything he was supposed to do. Our air conditioning has been working fine since then and that’s been at least six months.

I was sitting there one night and I heard this bad noise, like rocks being slammed against something. I went out to the garage and the noise was coming from the hot water heater. I told my husband about it the next day and he heard the same thing. He went to take a shower and we didn’t have hot water. But he turned up the heat on the hot water heater and he was able to get more hot water. By the time the people came out, we didn't have a problem anymore. The guy from Direct Connection Plumbing said he couldn't find anything wrong. It hasn't done what it did when we made the appointment. So, nothing was fixed.

The reps from AHS are always very nice when you talk to them. But I question some of the people they send out because it seems to me, they look for an excuse not to do anything. And they find their excuse. But we have not cancelled AHS yet because every time I get fed up with the whole situation, they send somebody out who does a good job. So, they're still in the running.

I've had good luck with American Home Shield. I used the washer for about a month and then, it started leaking over. The techs tore it apart and the bottom had rotted out of it. AHS bought me a new washer. It was nice. I’m glad I have it. This home had a bathtub and it was taken out. A roll-in shower was put in as well as a plastic type pan. When it gets hot with water, it expands. When it contracts, it goes, “Tick tick tick.” I thought I had water dripping but it was the pan.

My thermostat was broken and I called American Home Shield, and the tech fixed it for 125 bucks. You pay for a service and you get it.

I had an emergency shut-off on my hot water heater that I wasn't aware of so there was no hot water in the house. The tech took a while to get there. But once there, he turned it back on and told me the battery was dying and explained what happened. The coverage with American Home Shield seems to be good but the copay was a little bit higher than expected. I was expecting about $75 and it was over $100.

I was having an issue with my thermostat and the tech just switched the wire. We could have fixed the problem. The experience with American Home Shield has all been positive and the customer service has been great every time.

I had a blockage in my commode and it was related to the septic system. The tech came out and emptied the tank and took care of it for me. It took a little bit to find the top of my septic tank. But the tech was very efficient and got it done. Regarding the website of AHS, it's okay if it's just a straightforward request. But if you have a question or a problem, there's no place to explain what's going on. I'd like to have a comment column there.

I had a leaky faucet I needed to have looked at. I submitted a claim online through the online portal of AHS. It was an easy user experience. Everything was very well organized there. I had no issues or questions as I was doing anything. Within the day, I knew it was going to be F6 Plumbing. I also got a call from the plumbing company. The day of my appointment I was sent, “This is the plumber who's coming out. This is his information and the time he'll be around.” Very professional and good company. It was a good experience. There turned out to be other issues with my water pressure. They had to get me a quote for that. But they said once I fix the high water pressure, that the leak would fix itself. My husband just rigged something and we're good. I would recommend AHS for the peace of mind ‘cause things go wrong being a homeowner.

We had a problem with our heater. It wouldn't click on. We called to have someone come out and look at it. They were very good at giving information about the contractors. They texted, called and emailed. I knew exactly what was going on. The guy that came out was awesome. He had to replace the thermostat. He also had to tighten up some things that there was a leak on. Everything is perfect now. We’re very happy. AHS is easy to contact, set up appointments and get things done that way. But the plan that we bought should have been explained more ‘cause it doesn't cover a lot. Nothing on the pool is covered, but we didn't know that when we signed up. There are also other things that weren't covered as well.

My experience with AHS has been mostly good except for one very bad experience. I had a contractor that they recommended that did not have a valid license in the state to do work and was actively being sued by the state for defrauding customers. When I told them about this, they called the guy who then started blowing up my phone, coming around my house. I finally was able to talk him down and he stopped coming around. But it was a very uncomfortable situation that they put me in. I told them the situation that they put us in, and the lady on the phone didn't either understand or didn't care.

I just wanted him off my property. He did a wiring job that would have killed my family. I had him come out to replace a light in the pool, which required him to run electrical, and he wrapped a wire that would be exposed to salt water, which is what the pool was. He wrapped the wire with electrical tape and that is not the way that it's supposed to be done. If I hadn't seen it, he would have put it back in the hole. His wording to me was, “24 volts won't kill anybody.” And that's completely false. I had to pay out of pocket to fix it. It was 1,600 to this guy and then an additional 1,650 to another company to come out and do it right. And American Home Shield deemed that they were not liable for the first one because they recommended somebody who was in their system, but they didn't verify they had an active license to do work. They were refusing to have any responsibility for it.

I called American Home Shield and talked to them. They started out at $94. I told them I'd pay $64 a month. The rep came back and said they'd do that. I got the best one they got. Five days after it went into effect, I opened the refrigerator and my meat was spoiled. American Home Shield got somebody out there within two days and got it fixed. It cost me $125. They took care of the rest of it. It saved me $3,000.

We've been happy with the service. Everything's been timely handled. Best Mechanic came for the recent hot water issue. They were fantastic. I appreciate their customer service, timeliness and alertness on when to be looking out. Our hot water heater would cut off. We had to hit reset repeatedly. The first time a repairman came out, they hit reset, and it seemed like it was good. It didn't trip any breaker. After he left though, it continued to do it, and I started having to reset it every day if I wanted to have hot water.

I usually get a text from American Home Shield giving me the contractor's information. In most cases, when we've had to utilize the service, they reach out to me in advance to confirm the appointment and let me know what my windows are and who to be expecting to come out. I've appreciated all of them that have come out. Two years ago, we had someone come out and fix our lights. But sometimes, I wish I had a little more clarification under some of the subjects of coverage, what specifically that includes. If it says plumbing, what does that include with plumbing.
