I had a leak in my ceiling from the hot water heater and it caused part of the ceiling to break open, fall apart and fall down off the floor. It wasn't anything major, but it was enough to be annoying. So, I called American Home Shield to have them set up an appointment to come out. They had somebody out there in two days and fixed the leaky PEX line. It took them 20 minutes and they were done. I like that they responded quickly and got out of my home quickly. That's always a big plus.

Two weeks ago, I told them that I had an issue with my refrigerator. They said, they were gonna get right on it and that we would get a discount. They said they would get back to us in 48 hours. But I never heard from them and I ended up going to buy a new refrigerator. They're just like all the rest of the warranty companies. They talk a good game, but when it's time to do something, they are always saying, “Oh, we don't do that and we don't do this.”
Some of their techs are okay and some are not. One came at night to fix the air conditioner and it was dark. I told him, “Maybe you need to wait until you get some light.” And his attitude was, “I'm here. I'm gonna do it now.” And when he left, the same problem was going on. He didn't fix anything. When I called him back, they sent somebody else with that tech's company. AHS ended up not fixing anything. When I called a contractor on the outside, they told me that it was fixable. So, they fixed it and I had to pay. I don't like that. I'm thinking about giving AHS up.

American Home Shield's service over the years has been good that's why I stayed with them. We had a new air conditioner right before summer. We did a claim for it and the process was good. We were contacted by the company that they sent out there, and the guy was very knowledgeable. I have an engineering background, so I was able to ask him some questions about what they were going to put in and a lot of the technical things about it. They answered every question, and they came and put the new one in. Then there was some little glitch somewhere, and the company that installed it came out immediately.
My daughter lives in the home that is under warranty with AHS. She's a cancer survivor, and it was very comforting to know that somebody was gonna come out there and take care of things when she wasn't able. They always answer my questions. Plus, I've gotten some negative feedback from some of the other companies that people are not happy with them. So, I stayed with them.

My experience with American Home Shield has been largely good. It's just submitting a service request is slow, and it's hard to get in touch with people, but they've taken care of things eventually. They refer a contractor and then sometimes, the contractor takes a while to respond. If I need to get a hold of someone, the wait time is ridiculous. So, if the contractor calls me fairly quickly, it's good but if I ever need to contact American Home Shield, it's bad.
The technicians are good. It depends on who you get, especially with the appliances. I've noticed that there are a few vendors that are bad that I've gotten more than once. So, I try and call to get a different one because I know that the one that was assigned to me was really bad. They keep getting assigned to me, I guess, because nobody wants them.
Most recently, American Home Shield sent out one person and then they diagnosed it as a compressor problem, and then they said that they would need to get a second opinion. So, they sent someone else, and then he was really good. The first person responded quickly as well. Then the second person diagnosed it completely differently. He was able to fix it, but there were multiple things wrong with my refrigerator. So, it took him a little while to repair it and to get the parts. From when I first called to when it was closed, there were multiple parts that needed to be ordered.

We had an issue with the disposal. American Home Shield sent someone but it only took like a minute. They were really good. The tech listened to what was going on. We had just bought the house. There was a rock in the garbage disposal. The customer service with AHS was great. They let me know that they were setting up a contract or one of the people would be calling me and they did. The turnaround time was quick. I've encouraged people to get American Home Shield.

I had a microwave replaced and it was a good experience. The part wasn't available and I was pleasantly surprised when I got an email from American Home Shield saying, “Here's the amount of money you had to work with and pick the one you want.” I’ve used AHS for 10 years or so. The downside for me is that the cost has gone up but other than that, I've recommended them.

Our air conditioner wasn't working. The tech put some Freon in. With AHS, the job gets done and it's cheaper than other companies for the total amount. The service speaks for itself. That's why we renewed it.

If there was a problem, I could always call American Home Shield. One time there was an issue getting a part and it took a bit longer. Other than that, they're willing to provide answers on everything. Also, the people usually show up on time and if there was a problem, they would explain everything. So, everything has been positive. The most recent claim was a transformer. The contractor came out and fixed it. It took a bit of doing, but they got it done. There was a short in the system. The techs were knowledgeable. I had one technician once who was a bit new and had to call for some advice from somebody. Other than that, they seemed to know exactly what they were doing.

If I hadn't gotten American Home Shield at the beginning, I probably would not have. Since I've done it, it's a hit-and-miss. There are certain things that are okay and there are other things that aren't. We've had certain plumbers that's very limited. So, unless you really advocate and insist that you get another plumber or service, then they will keep on sending out the same people.
There are times when their contractors are not legitimate. I had a plumber come out and was constantly saying, “Oh, well, this isn't something we could fix.” There's always a reason why it didn't fall under the warranty, and it was something very simple. A handle fell off and they would say, “Well, it looks like it was being abused.” I don't understand how that's excessive wear. I really had to advocate for a different plumber.
A service company had people coming out, and half the time, they would fix things, but half the time, they wouldn't. One time, the company had a plumber stay in the car. Then an apprentice came and assessed the situation. The same thing happened. I think it's more with the company that they chose, but it would be nice if American Home Shield gave a little more power to the consumer on companies that could be utilized. Some of the parameters for what it is that is covered can be extremely narrow. You don't really realize that when you first start, and if you're aware, then it makes a big difference. There are some loopholes that seem shady. So, there are some things that could be better. I've thought of canceling it. I’m on the fence on that.

I thought I had a burned out lightbulb in my microwave. It took the contractor only two days to respond. The repair took two visits 'cause they had to order parts. It wasn't the light bulb that was burned out but the board. I waited two weeks more and it was fixed. AHS's pricing is bad but it is worth the investment.

My experience with them has been fantastic. Their website has lots of selections. I had a plumbing situation with my shower upstairs that gets clogged. The tech was very personable and knowledgeable. But you can only have one visit per problem and that's a pain because I have to take off of work. I had an issue with my ice maker and I'd have to put in a separate claim for that.
I've had a great experience with the contractors. AHS vets people and I feel confident that I can trust the people coming in. They're presentable and very professional. The warranty is worth it.

Submitting a service request to American Home Shield is terrible. They jerk me around on so many different things. It took me six months to get a repair done. The people are hard to understand. I had a repair, and a few months later, it went bad. Then I had to pay another $100 for someone to come out and do it again. It took me over six months to get a refrigerator fixed. There was a crack in our refrigerator door as well as the icemaker, and it wasn't working properly. It went round and round with several different contractors before they finally found somebody that would do it. They came out, and then it took forever to get the parts, and the hassle back and forth. I probably got 100 hours on the phone with the services that I had to get done.
I got an exhaust fan on the kitchen stove, and they couldn't find anybody. I had to get my own. They sent the exhaust fan to me. It sat in my garage for three months until I could find somebody that would do the install. They did pay to have it installed. It was a negotiated thing, but it was very frustrating. I gotta do the work for them. I find them to be a very terrible company. They put you on hold. They don't get back to you. I really don't have much good to say about them. They kept giving me contractors that could not or would not do it.

With American Home Shield, I like the ability to schedule a service call, the fixed service call fee and the replacement or repair of our appliances. We've lived in our house for over 20 years, and things break. We are not handy people. So, it is nice to have that reassurance that someone's there if you need them. We submit claims online or by calling. It's been rather easy. We're typically given the name and a telephone number and then that contractor will schedule with us. We had Sears out for the dishwasher. We ended up having to ask for a new contractor on that. Sears came out the initial time to diagnose but they never showed up with the replacement part. AHS took care of it and called a different contractor and got us taken care of.

American Home Shield's service is a zero out of 100. We're 100% dissatisfied with American Home Shield. Talking to someone who is in our area would help. They send out the worst service providers in my area every time. When you try to talk to them about the services and what happened, they don't take our point of view. They only go by what the service people said.
AHS said they'll repair things and they don't. Some of the things that they refused is ridiculous. They won't replace one of our stove handles. The little circle stove handle, they won't replace that. We had a dryer issue as well and it took our service person a week to contact AHS to get the approval. We didn't have a dryer for about three months. We didn't have a working stove for about two months. When you try to talk to somebody, you get somebody in the Philippines and they won't forward you to any boss. Also, the price have gone up $30 in the past four years per month.

Usually, if I have an issue with the house, I will go online and schedule an appointment with American Home Shield. The people they assign are usually very responsive. Recently, we had a leak coming from the ceiling and I assumed what it was, which was the drainage on the AC in the attic was blocked and it was. I wasn't even home. I was able to go online and schedule an appointment. The contractor texted me back that they could come the next day, and they came the next day. My son was home. They went up. They took care of it, and they left. I had to replace my entire AC system at one point and they took care of it. The people they assign show up very quickly and it's great.

We usually do requests with American Home Shield online because if you call, it would take three years. The website is not bad except for the fact that you don't have an option. It's not hard to just put in a request but American Home Shield is gonna assign the work order to whoever it wants to assign it to. And it's going to be like pulling teeth to get it changed.
If you set up everything online, they won't do anything differently than exactly the way they have it set up. They don't vet their contractors very well. I've had some that I didn't want to come back. Sometimes, it was hard to get American Home Shield to put it on a list where they don't send a person back because they would keep sending the same person, which I understand that sometimes there is not a lot available. But American Home Shield wouldn't reassign a work order when I asked them to.
There was somebody I called and they took a long time to call back. There was another situation where you could tell that the guy only wanted to fix the issue if it was a big job that he was gonna get paid a lot for. Since it was something minor, he didn't wanna do it. There was a thing with the AC a couple of years ago. It was very hard to get American Home Shield to pay for anything. I had recent experiences that were better. But in general, it's a headache if the claim has to do with the AC. That has never been a good experience. We had something either for a washer or dryer recently and this was at a rental. We paid for someone to come but they didn't do anything. It was not covered by American Home Shield so it was something we ended up having to do on our own.

We had a refrigerator go out, and I put in the first trouble ticket to American Home Shield. It took about a week and a half to get someone out, a week to get parts, another week to get someone back, and they couldn't fix it. It took another week to get parts and another week and a half to get someone back. They ended replacing the fridge, but the whole process took over two months. The replacement fridge is very comparable. I've had the fridge replaced twice now. I've had the washing machine replaced. I've had the dryer and the dishwasher fixed.
The technicians are fine. The issue is they're understaffed. I think it's a general issue. So, it takes them upward of a week to even schedule somebody. Then they can't reschedule until they have the parts. So, with supply chain issues, that's a week and a half. If a service person has to come back after they come out and diagnosed the problem, from beginning to end, that's gonna be at least three weeks.
In the last round with the fridge, I told the AHS customer service rep the model and they were using a contractor, I'm not in this country, and she got everything wrong. So, the recommended replacement fridge that came back was like a $1,200 fridge, and it was completely not comparable. I called back and got ahold of someone stateside. I sent them my receipt from the previous fridge purchase and a picture of the fridge. Then they came back and everything was fine. Their contract customer service is poor. The stateside customer service is good.

American Home Shield sent someone out once to check the refrigerator that I have that was not working, but they didn't wanna pay for it. My refrigerator was making ice inside, and they denied the claim. I have to talk to them and see why. They said I can call a second opinion. I had to call somebody else to come again, and they said if the person that comes again deny it, I have to pay him for coming. A year ago, I had a claim for the garage door. The guy came, fixed it, and I had to pay extra for the other part. The guy said, "I can fix this part, but if you want me to fix the other part, you have to pay me." It was $80 extra. It's not worth it because you pay every month, and then when somebody comes, you have to pay extra, and then they come again and not do anything.

The couple of times that I used American Home Shield, they were very timely in finding a company to service my needs. Their website is pretty easy to operate. Last year, I didn't know that the old portal was changed and so they canceled my coverage. But when I did renew it, their coverage went up and I didn't get any type of compensation or incentive for staying despite the challenges that I had had. Then I just got an invoice yesterday that said they're going up again. So I'm ready to cancel because I can't afford them. A couple of the technicians have been young and really not thorough. They came in, gave a quick diagnosis and then moved on. There was one guy who came and said, "Oh, ain't nothing we can do about this." Then he left.

The service with American Home Shield has been good. We've had HVAC problems. The claims process was simple. The guys that showed up have been great, knowledgeable, and respectful. AHS only charged for the service call and everything else is included. I've yet to get any additional bills. Having the warranty, I've saved a lot of money.

He said it was not their problem. It was somebody else that had to take care of it. So American Home Shield sent somebody else out. He was pleasant. I've had a couple of problems and American Home Shield took that load off of waiting for the other shoe to drop and hit you with some big bill you can't afford. I sent in a claim when the dishwasher was leaking and going underneath of the hardwood and it started to deteriorate the hardwood from the bottom side. So they had the dishwasher replaced. The claims process was fine. But a couple of the processes are a little strange to me. It has something to do with when you call in the claim and something about the way you file it. But it didn't really have an impact on me necessarily, but the process was a little strange. I've had very good luck with American Home Shield from the service that I've been getting.

I dropped American Home Shield because they're not worth it. When my AC unit went out, I called American Home Shield and paid them $100 for someone to come out. Then they told me, “Hey, your unit is old. We can't fix it. There's nothing we can do. We can give you $500 toward fixing the unit.” But I paid a $10,000 premium. I'd rather fix it myself. It may be worth it in the first couple of years of owning a home and you have new appliances.

My washing machine wouldn't drain water. It was just full of water all the time. It wouldn't pump. I called American Home Shield and it was fairly simple to get through them. Atlas came out and they were great. They were very nice people. American Home Shield is a good company that they always stood by their warranty.

American Home Shield is good and prompt. But sometimes the companies that they use are delayed or not able to get ahold of them right away. But eventually, the work is done and that they, so far, have abided by the contract. So, I'm happy with that. American Home Shield is pretty reliable, so far. Every time I've called them, they've gotten somebody to be in touch with me the next day or so. So far, so good.

I had a drip from my air conditioner and it was coming back through. But I caught it in time. I didn't have problems with the company that came out. I really appreciate it because it was quick and real professional. Also, my refrigerator was going out. I called American Home Shield and they got somebody out and got it fixed in a matter of minutes. So I really appreciated it.
Reaching out to American Home Shield now is a lot better than what it was. One thing is that you have to go online to do the claim. So, you don't talk to anybody. You fill out the work order online and then in an hour, you'll get a reply with the name and phone number of your contractor and that they're gonna get in contact with you in about 24 hours. My experience with American Home Shield has been excellent in the last year.

There's a language barrier many times when I called American Home Shield if I had to talk to someone. It would get sketchy because they don't understand. English is not their first language. It happened multiple times when I was, "No. That is not what I want fixed." Recently, the oven overheated. It shut down. The seal wasn't right. It made more steam. The contractor came out within 24 hours of the call. They did something, and everything was fine. It didn't take them an hour to fix it. They're good. The service is valuable. I've chosen to stay with AHS over others. My service with them has been good.

I did a claim to American Home Shield and they sent Peacher out. The commodes continued to run. Apparently, it was something in the tank of them. So, they had to replace that. I was put off that several days after Peacher Plumbing had been here and made the repair, AHS called me to let me know that there was nobody in my area to do the repair. So, that was a little off putting, considering that it was somebody nearby who came and did it. I've already recommended AHS several times. Their pricing is a bit higher than other companies. Other companies have a lower service fee and also a lower monthly price for the total contract. So, probably this next go-around, they're gonna outprice me out of the market because I'm retiring and it's too much.

I like American Home Shield's warranty. However, I had an experience with the garage door that needed fixing. The company that AHS sent out to fix it said that it was the fault of the door that had been put up, which the door was done 20 years ago. And they wouldn't pay for it. So, I went ahead and paid for it, not with the people that they called. I called somebody else which was a lot less than the company that AHS charged, even though AHS would not pay for it.
I'm thinking of changing because AHS Home Shield only fixes things that are old from wear and tear. I don't understand that. And the way it was explained to me by the contractors was they only take care of things that are worn out. I would have to read my contract more, talk to somebody else at AHS about it. Also, my plan with AHS went up. It used to be 54.39. It went up to 79 in the last year. Otherwise, it's okay. Contractors come out. But sometimes, the companies AHS send would take a week or so before I could get any service.

Starting next year, I'm gonna stop American Home Shield. There is no follow-up. The waiting time is horrible. The work is not completed. They left me hanging just now. I have to buy a brand-new dryer because the agreement was, if they were not able to fix it, they would have to give me a used one. But they said they could not do that. And it has been a month that I did not have a dryer working recently.
I had a plumbing experience. The guys came and left a big hole in the wall. They said AHS would pay for drywall. Called AHS. I told them specifically the toilet has to be removed so the guys could work. They sent me somebody and said, “No. We don't remove that. Call the insurance and say you need to send the plumber again to remove it so the right workperson can come.” And they said, “I'm sorry, but that is not covered.” It is a catch-22 all over. Terrible experience.
Every time I called for plumbing, I always had to pay out of pocket. They said, “This part, the insurance doesn't cover, so it's $250.” I called AHS to complain. And they said, “Unfortunately, we don't cover that kind of a part.” So, I may just hire somebody directly, a plumber, on my own account. The last time for the bathroom, when the contractor came to fix it, it was $500 out of my pocket.

I usually submit my claim online with AHS and their website is user-friendly. We had a leaking water heater recently and they replaced it. The techs were really good because they were fast and they worked us in so that we wouldn't be without a shower and water.

I was with AHS for many years and I always had a good experience with them. Foxcroft HVAC and Refrigeration came out and checked out my furnace. I was selling my house and I went and checked my furnace, made sure it was all right. But then when I got my thing for the New Year, my premiums went from $74 a month to $150. That was a bit much. I don't have AHS now. It just got too pricey.

Their service has been outstanding. Recently, I had an AC repair. I called them up and they sent somebody out. The techs were professional. I ended up getting a full replacement of the AC inside unit, outside unit, so it took a week or two. They paid half. I paid for part of it, too. It was good. I've been with AHS for seven years now and their service has been excellent. Having AHS, I like the comfort of knowing if I have a major issue, my reduction and out-of-pocket expenses goes down. I had a heating issue recently and I put in a claim online. Got an email reply. The vendor reached out. They came out and took care of it. The vendor was very good.

AH Appliance recently came out for the dishwasher and they did their job as I expected. They repaired the issue. Today I had another order. So far, American Home Shield has been great. I was with them for three years and I stopped it. Then I've been with them again for two years. They do a good job. It's very easy to access in order to get repairs done. The prices are good. You don't have to shop around for estimates, especially to get the labor done. I had to change a water heater and had a garbage disposal and electrical checked. All of them were covered. I only ended up paying $800 which was for the actual water heater.

Having AHS gives me peace of mind. I put in a service request for the air conditioning. I did it all online and all the instructions were emailed to me. Most techs that AHS sent have been fine. However, there's one plumbing outfit that I won't allow on my property anymore. On two different occasions, two different properties, they didn't even do any of the work, but I had to pay the fee. There was nothing that they did. I had to call a plumber to go and do the work. AHS was supposed to have reimbursed me for the fee that I paid.

My last experience with American Home Shield getting my AC repaired was a joke. It took them about four months to get my AC fixed. When we got it fixed, it was already too late because the season was almost over. When I had the contractor come back again because my AC wasn't working, the technicians did not connect it correctly. I was disappointed with that. The communication between a client and corporate office with them was horrible. I was still paying my dues and they still didn't take care of it. I still had to pay out of pocket a lot more than I should have. But since they came back and did everything else the second time, the AC has been working better.

My most recent claim was for my washing machine, and we had some complications. The first time the service agent came out and he repaired it, the door wouldn't close on the washing machine. So another gentleman came out, did a workaround and repaired it. But on the same day, it wouldn't open again. It took a couple of weeks to get the part. It was unacceptable, but what could we do? The worst part was the contractor's attitude was somewhat poor in dealing with my wife on getting this claim handled. When I was calling to check on it, it didn't improve. It was poor customer service at the front end. The technician was fine, but the lady's office manager was horrible. When we called to check on the delivery of the parts, it was like a “Well, we'll get it when we get it” type of attitude. So that was quite disappointing.
I asked American Home Shield if we could get another contractor and they said, “Well, you can change, but the $100 you paid will be prorated so you wouldn't get your money back. It will go to somebody else.” They couldn't do it, so we had to wait at the time. I have been a member of American Home Shield for a long time, but lately, the prices have gone up so much. I'm paying $1,200 a year and then every time I need to use it, it's $100. When I started off, it was $400 a year, and the service request was 30 bucks.

Every time I used American Home Shield, they've came and did a good job. The last time that used them was for my ceiling fan. The tech got up there and fixed it. It didn't take him long at all. It worked just fine. American Home Shield is always available, and they always do good work. I know that whatever it is, they will make sure they fix it.

We noticed that the water in our bathroom was just running. We set up the claim online and American Home Shield responded quickly. They had it done within the next 24 to 48 hours. Our water bill went down. So the tech fixed the problem. When he came out, he already had the parts, so he didn't have to reorder the parts. He already knew that it would be covered. So he was great. He did the work between 20 to 30 minutes. He was very fast. American Home Shield is a must. The coverage is awesome. But I saw an increase in my monthly rate. I was paying 59 but I'm now at 74, which I didn't like.

I've been a member of AHS for years. Their service has been really good. We had air conditioning and plumbing claims recently. The last plumber was the best one. The other one was not as good. We bought the house here four years ago as it is and we haven't touched anything or messed with anything, and they said it had been messed with and tampered with. That was the plumber telling American Home Shield. So they could only go by what they said. We had to pay extra money because of it, $300 more to the plumber. I've told AHS to change the outfits that they use for the plumbing. But when our oven broke in Charleston, South Carolina, the techs came out and looked at it and said, "We'll have to replace it." And they did. It only cost us 100 bucks, didn't have to come out any other money out of pocket.

I like the fact that if something goes wrong, I have somebody to contact with some company behind their guarantee. AHS has always been worth the money to keep. The techs all seem to know what they're doing so far. I've never had any issues with any of the contractors who we've had come out. Recently, the whole AC unit was blown. They gave me options of replacing the unit or doing the whole HVAC system, which was what I liked to do since it was 23-plus years old. Everything's functioning well now. We're still in the process of getting the inspection done.

AHS sent Greenway out to fix a refrigerator for me. The refrigerator made a loud noise and it stopped cooling. They met my expectations. However, I'm not happy that AHS has gone up every year. It’s doubled now than what we paid a few years ago. It started out at 65, and now it's 135 a month.

I called American Home Shield to file a claim for the AC and that was fine. They assigned a contractor, Lonnie's Heating and Air Conditioning, and they got ahold of me. It worked well. It took about a week for their technician to get out there. He had to get a part. He had that with him when he came so he was all prepared. He was a very good and nice guy. He fixed the problem.

I've been using American Home Shield since 2009. The key thing that keeps me with them is I don't have to search anyone. I don't have to make phone calls. I call American Home Shield, and they get someone available who's generally reputable. The contractor that came for the air conditioner that wasn't turning on was efficient.

Having AHS, I like the peace of mind. It was a used house. All the things on it are used and you don't know if any of them have a problem. So far, my experience with them has been very good. Recently, the light of the refrigerator wouldn't come on. It was not a bulb problem. There was something in the electronics. The repairman identified the problem and replaced the electrical board at the back and that seemed to have solved the problem. The tech was excellent.

When I separated from my initial provider, I went with American Home Shield. It was less expensive and had more coverage. Recently, something happened with my hot water heater. The water wasn't heating. The repairman who came out was good. I was late getting home, so he waited a few minutes for me. When I arrived, he pulled forward to park in front of my home, which was courteous. He was by himself and had to go in the attic at the location of the hot water heater. Whatever he did worked.

Somebody came out for the water that wasn't going down the drain, but said he couldn't do it. He didn't wanna be bothered. But the second guy who came out did a good job. He couldn't initially do the job until he got special unit to do it. But he came back and did the job. It wasn't a small job. It took a good amount of time to do it. When the toilet wasn't working right, American Home Shield gave me a girl. I called her and told her I had guests coming in from out of town and they were gonna be here for a good amount of time. She said it would be four weeks. It was ridiculous. She didn't wanna do the job.
When this last guy fixed my thing, it was a couple weeks that we had to wait till he finally came. He wasn't a local guy. He was down from Strasburg, Pennsylvania which is almost a 45-minute drive. American Home Shield should have been able to have somebody locally. Also, they reduced my price, but they cut the package back. They raised their prices tremendously. The deductible went from $75 to $100. I'll try one more year but if it would take a long time on the next problem, I'd probably leave.

In over 20 years, we've used the service. So, we've had issues with our main refrigerator that they came in and repaired until they realized that they couldn't repair it and replaced it. In the time that I've had American Home Shield, I left them once to try another home warranty and they were horrible. So, we came back to AHS and we still refer them, but it's not as good a service as it used to be. The vendors that they use not are as reliable as they used to. They don't have reliable hours for people who work. And I constantly have to check back with the vendor to make appointments. So, the vendors are not as high quality as they were back in the beginning.
My last few experiences have not been that great. I wasn't able to schedule and I kept getting text messages saying that I was scheduled on days that I wasn't scheduled and couldn't be there. And it created a lot of work on my end to just cancel appointments that I didn't make. I had a refrigerator that went bad. AHS said that it wasn't covered because it was my refrigerator that was in the garage, which should have been covered because I have the maximum plan. But AHS said that it looked like rodents might have eaten the wires. That was the first appliance I ever had an issue with that they just said, "Not covered." But we had a hot water heater go years back. The contractor came, took it away, brought in a new one.

For the most part, American Home Shield has been good. When I call, they send people within 24 to 48 hours and they fix stuff. When one of the AC units was not working, I logged my service request and Air Rescue came out on the same day. They were nice and very quick. There was a failure of a capacitor and they fixed it. They were professional and friendly. The tech said that if something was not working, he asked me to directly call them and they said they'd come and take care of it. So I feel good. I like the fact that American Home Shield brings in technicians and we can stipulate the time. So I don't have to worry about finding technicians by myself.

Sometimes I like the people that American Home Shield send out depending on who it is. The last people that came out and did something for me were good. They took care of my problem. The gas valve wasn't working. It took a while to get to me. But when they ordered the part, it took a long time. But that was not the guy's fault who fixed it. I had a problem with one of my bathroom tubs. The faucet leaked bad. American Home Shield sent somebody out. And within a week, I had my faucet working again. The tech was nice. In the past, I got a tub that kept getting clogged. So, I called AHS. The contractor said they couldn't fix the pipe all the way because they would have to go further into it. Also, I had some electrical go out. The contractor told me they couldn't do it because they would have to put holes in my walls. So, I was upset with AHS about that because of how long I've been with them and I don't use them unless I need them. Because I didn't have electricity in my kitchen and dining room, that upset me bad. I almost changed warranty place because of that. But I just stayed with AHS.

I've had excellent service every time with American Home Shield. I've had a microwave taken care of as well as a dishwasher and an air conditioner. The last one was the dryer. Something was caught in it because it was squealing and the tech from Appliance Repair Select removed it. I was satisfied but I had a service call for the water heater and I was not happy. It was leaking and the tech from the company that AHS sent out said I was gonna have to take the little cabinet, build a stand for it and get permits. It was gonna cost me $800 when the water heater only costs $500.
I've never had to do that before and I've lived here and I am the homeowner. So, I don't need to get another permit. And it doesn't need to go on a stand because it's not a gas water heater, it's an electric. So, some people from my church told me to get the water heater and they would install it. And it was perfect. I told AHS about it and they didn’t care. But that's the way it works.

I've had American Home Shield for two years and it has been easy and straightforward doing the claims online, filling it out and getting an assignment for service. I had an issue where the online system didn't work as I had expected for a particular recall and I was able to call in and talk to someone. They fixed it right away and I didn't have a problem at all. AHS makes it easy to deal with appliances when they break down. They have great contractors that have come out. They had a contractor for an AC unit who was very helpful and pointed out what they needed to do and and fix. They were honest in what they couldn't fix at that time or told me what it is that they can complete. I also had one on the electronic side we had to spend some time troubleshooting, but they finally fixed the issue that I had without any other problem. I've had a great experience with AHS.

Our garage door broke and the guys who came out were awesome. They told us what was wrong, said they'd have to get the part, came back the next day and fixed it. The garage door works better than it ever did. American Home Shield gives me peace of mind knowing that if something breaks, it's gonna get fixed. It's easy to go online and tell them what the issue is and usually, they call you back the next day. We had one negative where we were scheduled and the contractor never showed up. We had a washing machine that went out, and after having the technician look at it saying that it couldn't be fixed, American Home Shield gave me a choice of getting a particular model washing machine or cash to get whatever I wanted. We went shopping and I thought that was a fair deal. I've had some very good service from American Home Shield, but I've got mixed feelings about them. Some contractors have been better than others. Some didn't seem like they were very professional. Overall though, we've been happy. At the end of our year's contract, we renewed, and come February, we'll probably renew again. It's worthwhile.

I like the old way of setting up claims online. We just go directly in there, but now we have to go in there and put our account number in, and that takes a little longer. Recently, my washer went out, and American Home Shield had to replace the whole unit. The only thing I did not like is when the contractor came out to work on it initially, they said they gotta order a part. It was a week, then come to find out, they knew upfront that they can't get the part. The guy knows whether he can repair it when he comes in, and they know what the allowance is gonna be. I don't know why they had to go back and forth, but once I got in touch with someone, it was easy. They were able to help me out.

American Home Shield was fine. I liked it. They fixed a lot of things. But then they destroyed my trust. So I went to another company. I had a claim for the garage door. One of two springs broke on my garage door with an electric opener. I paid them the $100 deductible and they sent out a person. The contractor said that they could fix it, but it would cost me an additional $437 out of pocket. So that would mean it was almost $600 to repair it. The bid to fix it was much less.
I talked to American Home Shield and told them, "Well, I can get this done from scratch for less than $150 from a local company. So why are you bringing somebody from 150 miles away?" I told them that I didn't wanna accept the bid and they should just pay for the damages and I would pay the difference to this other company. So then they charged me $437 if I wanted to use this other company. I told them to pay me the difference. It was gonna be $60 or $80 that they were gonna pay towards it. But I already paid $100.
They were gonna replace one spring even though when you fix a garage door opener, you're supposed to fix two springs. If one breaks, you gotta do two because they'll be stretched and they won't balance. Not only that, but most of the work is in the labor to tear it all down. That's the last thing you take off. Then you gotta put it all back together even to replace one. But they didn't wanna do that. They said they would pay for the cost of one spring. No labor to take it down and to put it back together. That's crazy. How are they gonna do maintenance on a garage door opener if they're not going to pay the labor to take it off and put it back on?
American Home Shield was good right up until this incident. Now knowing what I know about them and that if they have one fluke, bringing somebody from outside and not letting me choose who I want to work with and bringing somebody in that's gonna cost four times what it's going to do, I wouldn't recommend them. I replaced them with another company and I'm paying about 50% less per month and covering more things.

I've had very, very good luck with American Home Shield. Fortunately, nothing's broken in a while. But at my mom's house, she had to have a dishwasher replaced and it was not an issue. Her air conditioning too had an issue and they fixed that, and my air conditioning. So, all three of them broke. I have plans on my mom's house and my house. So this summer, the fan went out in the air conditioner, and they came out and fixed it within a couple of days. They got the fan and the next day, they replaced it. I pay American Home Shield about 200 bucks a month. So it's a little on the steep side because I don't really use them. Also, they could cover more stuff.

When it rained for three days in a row, my water heater would not give me hot water. I got on to American Home Shield's website and made a request. So they sent out a plumber. The plumber came out and said, “Oh, your water heater looks fine, but it looks like the electricity isn't going directly to your water heater.” He showed me. He would put his little tool and it wouldn't light up. He said that I didn't need a plumber but I needed an electrician. Then I got a call from American Home Shield saying, “I just wanna update you on the status,” which is great, “that the plumber recommended another trade to take a look at your electricity that was feeding the water heater.” Because it was Saturday, they said, “They'll notify you probably by Monday, 24 hours to 48 hours, when they'll be coming.”
The amazing thing was that I got the call in the morning, and about two hours later, I got the call from the electrician that same day. He said, “I got the request from American Home Shield. And if you're available, I can come by today.” So he came by same day, two hours later, just as he promised. He was great. He checked it out and said the problem was that my breaker was bad. There happened to be a replacement breaker right below it. He said, “It's right there so I can replace it.” Then he added, “Luckily, you have one, because this is original equipment from 1958 when the house was built. And it might be hard to find a replacement breaker.” So he put it in and it worked. He was very professional and timely and got it solved. We've had a couple of rainy days this week, and all of the hot water is working and we get it every single day.
I've had American Home Shield since 1999 and we’ve since sold that house and got it for the house in Hawaii. They try to fix the problem, which we would love for it to be fixed, but sometimes, you just can't fix it. So, we've had a couple of situations like with our original stove, where the contractor came and they said, “Oh, gosh. This is GE original 1958.” They tried to fix but they couldn't. They were never gonna be able to get the parts for it. So, there should be a 3,000 credit on my account when we buy our next stove because they couldn't fix it. In the past, I've had a toilet replaced in my Washington home. I've had a washing machine replaced in my Hawaii home because it couldn't be fixed.

The second time the guy from PJ Appliance came out for the microwave, he had to change the panel inside of the microwave because it went out again. Everything is fine now. It’s been a good experience with American Home Shield. I like the convenience of having someone being able to come out and fix the problem. The cost has gone up since the first time I've had it and so did the service fee. But I understand the reasons why that happened.

We had a roof leak from the air conditioning unit and the water coming down ruined the ceiling in our laundry room and it needed to be repainted. American Home Shield said it was not related to the leak and didn't pay for it. We requested to talk with the manager but the manager never called us back. I'm not very happy with AHS and I'm looking to find someone else.
When filing a claim, we’ll call and tell AHS what the problem is. Somebody may come out about three days later but they don't come out on weekends. You make a call on Friday, saying you have an issue, and they may call you back on Sunday or Monday. And you pay the $100 deductible. Also, my monthly fee went up from $72 to $89. Last year, someone came out to check one of our air conditioning units and it was free. AHS uses cheap vendors who don’t repair it good. We live in a $400,000 house and it’s not right to get cheap people to come here and pay to make repairs, and not let us use the one who normally services our units.

American Home Shield sent out someone to look at my oven a couple of days ago, which was working at the time. It just wouldn't self-clean. But now, my ovens don't work at all. The technician called me to tell me that the parts were unavailable and the oven now was obsolete, and they didn't fix it. I want to call back and ask for a second opinion. American Home Shield said they were gonna be in touch but I haven't heard from anybody.
American Home Shield helped us in the past. But it's been difficult because if the problem persists and you don't get the contractor back in the appropriate amount of time, you have to pay again for the same problem. When we started the policy, American Home Shield assured us that they would be able to maintain and replace if needed with the same kind of appliance. I have a Viking double oven and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. They only reimburse up to $2,000 for replacement. That's not even gonna begin to scratch the surface with the costs going as high as they are.

Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for an AC. They sent Doctor Cool out. They had to replace a part as far and it's been working great since. It was during the hot months of the summer and there was no air in the house. My parents are elderly. They came out right away. My parents had no issues at all. If they had, I would have heard about it. We have no complaints. As a matter of fact, we're thinking about putting our house in California under a plan. As far as the technician, my dad said he was very cordial and respectful.

American Home Shield works 90% of the time. I was happy with Extreme Heat & Air. It was for an AC issue this summer. But outside of the air conditioner, I've had horrible experiences. They’re very pleasant, but being nice doesn't matter if they're not getting the job done. They passed me along to four people. The quality of contractors is a hit or miss. They’re only working off what they know and it's a disconnect sometimes with things. The people you speak to when you call don't know anything as far as the issues. They’re just going by the book. You hit them with a question that's off that script, and you’re gone. In the past, I've asked to speak with someone that could help me, but that didn't happen. They said they would call in 24 hours but there was no call.

We had a very small leak in a plumbing area of our kitchen. American Home Shield gave me the name of the company and a phone number to be able to be in touch with them. The guys that came out seemed to be in a hurry. It was at the end of the day. They came later than what they had anticipated being here, and when you're at the end of the day, you're always pretty much gonna get a late situation because they get tied up with other stuff. So I wasn't surprised and necessarily disappointed.
The tech evaluated the issue and discovered that there was a leak. It wasn't a large leak. There was a very, very slow loss of water. He did an outside water pressure test to make sure that wasn't really broken in the slab, and explained that their company did not do work like that. It was just gonna be above the slab process. Otherwise, I'd have to call someone else, which honestly made sense to me. The tech did his job. But if I was him, I would have done a better job as far as communication and taking the time to evaluate. But after we got it fixed, I realized the guy did exactly what he should. The next company that came in didn't have to break the slab. There was a pinhole that could not have been discovered without chipping away a little bit of concrete around the copper. They fixed it in an hour.

American Home Shield should not outsource their calls to foreign countries where I would speak to someone and English is not their first language. There's a bad communication barrier and gap there which also causes issues. Also, costs are too high and it takes long to file a claim. I've had to do an HVAC claim which was denied. AHS stated that it would cost more to replace the unit than repair it. So, they gave me $100 to a $700 unit. I've used them before for my microwave twice but it still is out. And if I call them, that would be $300. I could have just had the microwave replaced.

My experience with AHS has been good. I like that I have access to my account and put in a service request if I need to. Once I ask for service, the vendors will contact me for an appointment time. During summer, when everybody's having issues, if it's something like water heaters, I know that's gonna take longer. They contact me, but the service might have to take a little while. But it's okay otherwise.
I had plumbing issues in my bathroom sink recently. It was clogged. The plumber had it taken care of within 15 minutes. He gave the best service. He was very professional and nice. He also cleaned up very well. I've used AHS four times now. I also had claims for the water heater and the washing machine. The customer service of AHS has been very good. They take the time. They go above and beyond. They're very professional and kind. It’s best to have it ‘cause it saves you a whole lot of money.

We've been with AHS since the 70s. It's not as good as it used to be, but we have them to cover stuff. We had a plumbing issue. We had a hot water heater replaced and usually, it would be just the $75 coverage. But we had to pay an extra almost $700 because of the pipes they put in. But 90% of their contractors are really good. I wish they'd cover things like they used to.

Our experience with AHS has been wonderful lately. When we needed a dishwasher replaced, they came and replaced the dishwasher. They sent people out for my water lines. They've been really good. Everybody that came out for every claim that we've had was very thorough. We're very happy with their service. We're going into our third year with AHS. I like the security of knowing that they're there.

American Home Shield has helped in a lot of things. But a lot of things have not been very good. They sent a couple of people out that were no good and I told them that. They didn't come back and finish. I ordered one item around COVID. They could not find it. It was something that got broke with a pot and three guys even admitted it. The last guy said somebody hit it with something. I lost money on that one so I just gave up on that.
American Home Shield should get the feedback about the people. The job probably would have been done several times. A couple of times I told them, "Do not send this person back," and they didn't. But they need to because they're paying out and they're not even asking us if the job is done. When I recall to get it done again, that is another $100. I'm re-spending hundreds on stuff that is not even getting done. You can't argue with them because I tell them that and they say, "Oh, I'm sorry about this." I haven't been very happy all the way around.

Filing a service request to American Home Shield is a 9 out of 10 only because Sears was supposed to make an appointment, and I took off a day from work to make sure I was there for the appointment. Sears never showed up. Two hours before the time that they were supposed to arrive, they decided they couldn't make the scheduled appointment and then they scheduled me for about a week later. So, with that, I called American Home Shield. They had another guy come out the very next day. It took him about 45 minutes to diagnose it and tell me I needed a new unit, and that was what I had to get. I give him nothing but absolute praise. I had fantastic experience with him. He was from Dan's Appliance Service.
They gave me a bunch of different options as to what I could do. They said, "I can give you an electronic gift card that you can take to Lowe's and pick out what you want as far as your new dishwasher." I said, "Are you kidding me?" He said, "No, that's what we can do." So, I did that. And it was about two days later until Lowe's could deliver it. Overall, I recommend American Home Shield to anyone. They're fantastic.

American Home Shield's website would get confusing when you have multiple units in your house. They kept emailing me about they wanted me to do a winter checkup. But I got three units in the house and the deal was only for one of them. I didn't feel it was worth having them come out to do one out of the three. It's like Russian Roulette, figuring if I would pick the right one. It's complicated if you have to try to cancel one because if you put something in and wound up being something that should have been done a different way, canceling it, it would become a problem. You wind up having to get on the phone and wait online to talk to somebody. You can't necessarily do it on the website. Other than that, two times the contractors had to come out, I've had good experience. Recently, the ac wasn't cooling correctly. But the contractor came out and took care of whatever was wrong.

I had a claim for the fan in the den and the tech who worked on it was terrific. He took a look at it at first and he ordered the parts and came back. They communicated and they replaced the fan. We've had American Home Shield for years and, so far, we have not been unhappy.

The spigot was leaking and the tech from Tom Melton's Service did was tighten it instead of taking it apart and replacing any of the washer gaskets inside it. After he tightened it, it was near impossible to turn it on and off. It will leak if I don't tighten it back up, but I have to loosen it in order to turn the spigot on and off. As I do that, it'll continue to get looser so I have to go back and tighten it back up again. It was all about not wanting to replace the spigot because that's not covered under warranty, and it's gonna cost a fortune to do. I never called back in to readdress. It could be another $125 service call. I always write AHS into the deals when I buy a house and I typically get that going. But what I'm not liking is they keep bringing the price up every year. I've gone up $300 in the past two years I've lived here. It's teetering on the point of it's not worth keeping for as much as I've claimed over the years.

Budget Plumbing was horrible but all the other ones were fine. I've been with American Home Shield forever and the price keeps going up. I have one warranty at my mom's house and one at my home. So, I pay for both and I'm on a fixed income. But they are reputable and I have recommended them to people who have been looking for a home warranty.

Every time I would close the microwave, it would shut off and trip the breaker. Clutch came out but 30 days later, it broke again and Sears came out. The tech said that they replaced all the buttons. It looked like the ones that Clutch used were old and he put all new ones. But I didn't like the fact that AHS tried to charge me another $100 to come out. It was two days past the 30 days and the rep said they credited the first one from Clutch and then charged me again. I haven't checked my account yet.

We had a leaky faucet upstairs and another one downstairs in the laundry room. The contractor came out the next morning after I made the call. They looked at all the problems and diagnosed what was going on. They made some suggestions and were quick and professional. They knew exactly what the problem was and replaced the parts that were bad. They got it done within two hours.
The warranty is great and I have no worries. If something goes out, it's covered. American Home Shield was sending out a dispatch immediately with the phone call and then, I got a call 20 minutes later about setting up the appointments. It's easy and hassle-free. Their customer service reps are efficient and ask all the right questions, and we get right down to the point. I like the warranty but the price goes up each year. When we first bought the house, it was around 500. And we paid 740 now for the year, which isn't horrible. But I don't wanna expect next year to be, all of a sudden, 900.

I normally call American Home Shield to submit a claim and I have no problem with it. Sometimes, they got people overseas and I tell them I want a representative back in the States. They transferred me over with no problem. I prefer talking to somebody here versus somebody overseas. Even though they do a good job, I gotta try to keep repeating myself.
Appliance and Repair came out and the guy was supposed to put a piece in for my washing machine. My wife was saying there was a problem but the guy said he doesn't see it. Some problems are intermittent. One minute they show up and the next minute they don't. And at the time, it wasn't. I still got a problem with the button. He said it was working at that time. I let that go. But he told me he was ordering the drawer and I haven't received it yet. I gave him a call two times. So, if I ever got anything wrong with my appliances, American Home Shield should not send back that company. I should have gotten a courtesy call. I'm gonna give them a call back because they took my $180 for the service call.

The regulator wasn't regulating the propane on the stove and the contractor ordered some parts for it. They have been here before and they’re always good. American Home Shield has taken very good care of us for the last year and a half. I like their coverage.

American Home Shield is something good to have in case of something breaking down. I like not having to pay out of pocket to have something serviced as far as a large amount. I had a claim for the dryer and another one for the refrigerator. The icemaker wasn't working and the guy fixed it. He was knowledgeable and nice.

American Home Shield has been very good with us. I've already recommended them to several of my friends. I tell them that they've treated us right. They've replaced several things in my house. We just had Parish Plumbing come out and they were good. We had a slow drain in our tub and they fixed that. They ran a line through my sewage outside, poured some solution to get it unclogged, unplugged in the tub and it worked. They also changed my garbage disposal. The one thing that I chose to do when we did the garbage disposal was I bought it myself because I wanted a better one than what they were gonna offer. But I never heard anything back if they would reimburse me for a part of that. That was what I chose to do when they did my stove and they did that that way.
When a contractor did a recheck on my unit, I was a little bit upset that they didn't tell me that it was just once a year. I thought it was gonna be for the air conditioning and heating but they said they could only come out for one or the other. That was a little bit deceiving because they didn't tell me I should choose heating or air. They led me to believe that it was gonna be for both when each season changes because they're different units.

American Home Shield is always great. I called them when my hot water heater broke. It was a few days that Showers Plumbing Company could come then I got pushed back a couple additional days because someone was sick. I had talked to them and asked if they were just gonna replace it. They said they needed to diagnose it first. I described the issue and they told me they were gonna replace it on the first visit. But when they came out, they ended up just looking at it and saying, "We need to replace it." They had to make a subsequent appointment then they came out and replaced it.
American Home Shield had originally told me that it was gonna be $100 deductible. But when Showers Plumbing was out, after they replaced it, they had told me it would be an additional $345. They explained something that I didn't understand. I was already in a bad way financially. $345 was a lot to me to have to do it. But I needed hot water, so I just paid it. After they left, I called American Home Shield to ask about that and they said they were not supposed to charge me that $345. American Home Shield called Showers Plumbing and said they needed to refund it and they did. It took five business days for me to get that $345 back. It got taken care of but it was a little frustrating. I subsequently set up a visit. A contractor gonna come out and check out my heater before winter. I did that online and that was easy to use.

I have never had bad service and I loved American Home Shield up until two months ago when my dishwasher flooded out. On the third visit, I said, "I'm having a leak.” It ended up damaging my floors and I had to call my homeowner’s insurance because I had a huge flood. It was a nightmare. I had to call a plumber from American Home Shield just to have him say, "Yup. It's your dishwasher." I was livid.
Now, I've got $50,000 in damages, and I'm so angry. I was a loyal customer all these years, but because American Home Shield couldn't get off their tushies fast enough and they didn't believe me, I ended up with a dishwasher that flooded my entire floor. Meanwhile, my water heater went out and they replaced it immediately.

My air conditioning went out and the company American Home Shield assigned couldn't fix it, so they got me another unit. All in all, American Home Shield is good, and I will keep them. They're polite and nice. When I call, they react and anything that I have a problem with, they always send somebody out. I tell people about them, and I got other people with them. I had been with them for two years, then my daughter joined them, and then my son joined them as well. My daughter's friend also joined them now.

My garage door wouldn't open. The spring broke, so I called American Home Shield, then they put me into contact with the people that fixed my garage door. They responded quickly, came in, told me what the issue was and fixed it. It's been good since. American Home Shield is a good company, and I like the peace of mind I have with them. They are are very responsive. When I called when I had an issue, it was fixed. It's worth having the coverage, and I would tell people to have it.

It's good to know that I can call American Home Shield and they'll schedule a repairperson to come out. I pay a flat fee every month and they cover the rest within a certain amount. I like that, because I don't have anybody that I can call. It's hard to find somebody to do handy work these days, but with American Home Shield, I have assurance knowing that they send qualified people to do repairs. I like that as well. The only drawback is I have to wait a bit. It's not their fault though. It's the company that they assign. Sometimes, I have to wait a few days to get service. However, if I say it's an emergency, they'll come out as quick as they can. Recently, someone came out and serviced my furnace, and the guy did a good job. He was very thorough, and he explained what he was doing and why.

My experience with American Home Shield has always been good. Recently though, they had a service company come and check out my issue. It was my water heater, and they changed that, but that was the only thing that was done. In the quote, they said they needed to build a new base and change some of the pipes, but they didn't actually build a new base. The water heater came with its own. I was thinking of going to Home Depot and just buying the unit itself for them to install, because then it would have been the same.
American Home Shield paid for the unit itself, which was good, but when the service company installed the water heater, they charged $800 more and I didn't see what that was for. I called and they said, "We changed everything out." I didn't wanna keep going over it with them, so I just let it go. There was no point fighting over spilled milk. Besides that, it's been four months, and I have not had any issues since the service company came out.

It's very hard to get through to American Home Shield most of the time because the number rings, but it just keeps going through a cycle then it cuts off and echoes. It takes me a while before I finally get someone, and customer service talks too bland. "Hey, you're just a customer. So what do you need? What do you want?" Recently, they had someone come fix my dryer. One of the kids hit the wrong button on it, so the repair people just came in and reset the button.
I've been on and off with American Home Shield, because at one time, I had a problem with my AC unit and I called them to let them know. My baby boy was just born, and I told them that the unit wasn't working. It was hot. They sent someone to come work on my AC and they said that they just filled it up with whatever they were gonna fill it up with. I said, "That's not working. It's leaking somewhere." They said that they couldn't do anything about it. They were gonna keep filling it up, and the next time it fills up, it was gonna cost me, so I cut off American Home Shield. I had the money. I bought a brand-new AC unit for $5,000 and put it in.
American Home Shield called me back and said, "Hey, we're sorry about what happened. Take us back." I needed something for when something goes out, so I took them back, but I'm not that impressed with them. They're not trustworthy and I don't like them, but there isn't anything better. Also, after I took them back, they raised all the stuff up on me. Now, I gotta pay more for them to come out and fix my stuff.

When our dryer was shutting off and wouldn't run, we went online and put what we needed help with as well as what the problem was. The repair people came and they had to order a part and come back.

When our AC stopped working, I called their number then the reps took the information and told me that somebody would be calling me. Within a couple of hours, I heard directly from the Arctic Air. They called and asked me the same questions like, "What's going on?" It was good, and they were very efficient. They came out, looked at my AC and diagnosed it quickly. A relay switch had burned out on the condensing unit outside, so it wasn't kicking on. They repaired it and were done within three hours.
It's nice to have the coverage, and people would be crazy not to have American Home Shield. With a home warranty, I don't have to worry about how much money I'm gonna be out of pocket on any particular breakdown. For AC and heating, that could run into the thousands of dollars. It's the same thing with the appliances. Nothing's cheap anymore. Even a dishwasher or washer and dryer, I could be out 500 bucks easy. I take care of my stuff, so hopefully I don't need the coverage, but if something breaks down, I know American Home Shield is there. I can be out my copay and know it's gonna get taken care of. I've never had any problems with AHS, and every vendor I've ever had that signed up with that service has always been good, local folks. It's not been somebody I didn't know or trust.

Getting American Home Shield is the cheapest or the best financial decision when it comes to things that break down in the house. A lot of things are covered under the contract and I only pay a fee. That's usually all I have to pay if it's within the contract, and I like that. I heard about this home warranty company from my dad, and the website is good. Something about our stove was not working (whether it was the outlet to our stove or the stove itself was broken) and the steps to submitting our service request was very simple and quick. I got a notification on who the repair company was gonna be on the site.
The company that was assigned called me before they arrived, then they showed up. They were great and really accommodating. They went above and beyond to fix what was broken. They went to our electrical box and swapped out a couple of the fuses that were faulty. They also said that they can come out within the next 90 days if anything else was wrong and do that for free. Now, everything's great. Things are hotter than what they were before with the stove.

I usually set things up online, and I don't have any problem with the website. However, if I am having a condition with one of my appliances and I checked what's stated on the website, but when the contractor got out here, they said it was something different, then I have to pay them another $100 for them just to check. For instance, I thought I had a leak from my hot water tank. The website asked if I had a leak and that's what I checked. I was seeing some water and it was running up my water and gas bills, so I had to shut off the hot water until I got somebody to look at it.
3-D Hoover came out here, but they said the leak wasn't from my hot water tank. They said that it was underground. That meant I had to pay another $100 for them to inspect the problem even though they were already at my house. I called another contractor out here and he fixed it and it wasn't underground. I don't want 3-D Hoover back in my house again. Some time back, they came to work on my AC. It was leaking up there and the tech said he blew something out.
In some situations, American Home Shield is okay. In other situations, they are not. For a long time, I could not get them to check my furnace for the winter because they told me they didn't have anybody available. If I'm paying them, they should have somebody available to come out or at least pay me to have somebody check it. Until that time, I've never had any problem with American Home Shield.

I call in for service requests and it goes through the automated service. I love it. I called in for my refrigerator and a couple of hours later, I got an email, then a repair guy came out. He checked out my refrigerator and he had to wait on a part, but it was all good. I recommend American Home Shield to all my coworkers.

I've stayed with American Home Shield for so long because it's been helpful having it. Usually, the experience is good. When there is a problem, it is because of the provider they are using. American Home Shield responded by sending out a second opinion or getting another look at the issue. They’re pretty much very accommodating. I wouldn't buy a house without this home warranty.
I use the app when I make a service request. It used to be you had to call in. The app is very quick and usually within minutes or before I even get off of it, I have already gotten the message responded to. Normally, American Home Shield works very quickly. The only time I was dissatisfied was with my most recent claim. The first guy American Home Shield sent out tried to say that we damaged what was broken, which was ridiculous because it was a piece on the air handler that was in an enclosed closet. We didn't even have access to it.
What happened was we noticed a leak downstairs and it was coming from the air handler room. When that happened in the past, the line had gotten clogged. We live in Florida. Even though we treat the line every month, change the filter every month, and do what we can, the issue still happens because of the heat and the algae buildup in the lines. We assumed that was what it was. But the first guy that came out tried to say it was a part and that it was gonna be quite expensive to replace. He told American Home Shield we broke it. I requested a second opinion because there was no way that what the first guy said was accurate.
The second company that came out responded very quickly and they verified that the part that the first technician said that they needed was completely not correct. There was no way we could have broken it. It wasn't even broken. The issue was, in fact, a clogged line. The gentleman repaired the clogged line and was getting ready to leave. But there was some kind of problem. When he started the unit back up, he burned the motor and we needed a new one. I had a problem with that in that they said they were gonna come back. We waited all week for the part. They told me not to worry about it because they were gonna have the part.
Friday came and they were supposed to be putting the part in. They came and said he had the wrong part and he would be back in half an hour. He never came back and the company never called. I was calling American Home Shield and they were calling the company. It was just a big mess. The weekend came. When I followed up the following Monday, the person I spoke with said he thought the technician would make it back in time. But then he couldn't get the part that he needed. American Home Shield couldn't even understand because they put all the specs in on the quote that they do. The technician knew what he needed and came without it.
And the service company didn't really seem to care. In fact, they even hung up on me. I went back to American Home Shield. We were in a situation where we didn't have an AC. We have a two-story house and it was the hottest summer we've ever had in Florida. We had people coming to our house on Sunday. My husband's 80 years old. My daughter was getting ready to have a baby any day. We ended up having to pay another company to come and fix the issue and this was out of pocket because American Home Shield couldn't release the company and put the claim to somebody else without talking to the company first. The company wasn't calling them back. We ended up having to pay over $500. American Home Shield did give us some compensation and we got a couple of hundred dollars of it back.
That was the only time I've ever had a situation and it was really frustrating. That comes from the people that American Home Shield uses. All you can do is give them the feedback and maybe they can change companies that they're working with. There should be some improvement with the people that they're using in some instances. I've had American Home Shield closer to 15 years. Normally, they're very responsive and they assign somebody. When the contractor comes out, they fix things right away. Overall, American Home Shield is above average or close to perfect.
But lately, customer service has been a little bit more difficult maybe because they've gotten busy or more popular or have more people. It used to be a little bit easier to get through on the phone. But the app is helpful with anything that you have to take care of right away. American Home Shield comes in handy to have it. Compared to the cost of what it would have cost for me to take care of things when technicians go out, it could be a lot of money going out. The rates in Florida for insurance have gotten unbearable lately and theirs is part of that too because it's increased this past year. It was a significant increase so it was a little hard to take. But overall, it's still worthwhile to have the home warranty.

Submitting a service request to American Home Shield is satisfactory. I've done it both by phone and online. I prefer doing it online. Their website is suitable. Recently, we had an issue with the air conditioner system. I turned in an online request. The techs came out, checked the system, and indicated that there was a problem. They were saying, “Look, this is beyond our scope.” I asked for a second opinion. They came back then and said, “Yes, it's within our scope.” They fixed it.
They indicated that there was prior damage before we had purchased the house. That wasn't something that was brought up that we could control because we just purchased the house with the inspection and the warranty was included. It wasn't something we did. So, that part was a little challenging and frustrating to hear, but they did come around and honor the warranty. Another issue we had was with a water leak. Somebody fixed that. Then they also fixed the air conditioner. The work was satisfactory.

I like the service of American Home Shield. I like that you have 30 days before you pay that next deductible. This summer, I had a problem with my own central air unit. I didn't know that you have 30 days before you pay your next $100 deductible for them to come out for the same problem. They keep coming out until the issue is fixed and that saves you money. The tech did it this summer for me. It took them forever to realize what was really going on with the central air unit.
The guys that came out were nice. My husband will always call me when they're here. The guy used to call my husband. He asked to have my number. He called me back personally that night to see how everything was running. He called back that Friday night and on Monday morning. He didn't have to do that so that was nice.

What I like about American Home Shield is having a set cost per repair and the ability to have appliances replaced if they can't be repaired. The technicians that they have sent out have been good. I had Sears here twice. The first time, they replaced a pump. The second time, they replaced the soap dispenser. Their guy was good. He was quick.

Giants Plumbing was great. They've come out several times. There was a leak behind the bathtub. The overflow drain was leaking. So when my children would fill the water up too high and it would hit that overflow drain, it was leaking behind the tub and puddling into the spare bedroom next to it. I reached out to American Home Shield, and they immediately assigned Giants Plumbing. It was the weekend when I did it. Giants Plumbing called me on Sunday to schedule.

American Home Shield is excellent. I talk with a real person when I have a claim with them. They tell me about the contractor. They put the work order in but I have to also call them myself to verify the appointment. The last issue I had was with my washing machine. When I turned my cold water on, the water was running on the floor. It was some kind of knob that I needed. If I knew better, I could have bought that myself without spending $100. But living by myself, I really didn't know that was something I could have gone out to the store and purchased. Overall, it was good because I got the problem solved. The plumber was a really nice guy and was professional. He did the fix in not even 30 minutes because it was something so simple.
I had a problem with my air condition being backed up and water was running under the floor too. I was told that was because of something I wasn't doing so American Home Shield didn't cover that. I learned from a neighbor that once a month or so, I was to add bleach so it wouldn't back up to kill the allergens and the bacteria. American Home Shield went up now. I got an email saying that my coverage changed and my price went up. I was paying close to $90 a month. Now, it's gotta be 100-something. I have to call and see. I need to get with somebody that's a little bit cheaper because I live alone on on a fixed income.

Our refrigerator stopped working as far as like providing any sort of cold air in the refrigerator or freezer portion. I had to talk to American Home Shield on the phone because it was difficult otherwise to get a resolution. It was kind of a long winded situation. The actual contractor that came out was really good.

I had a water line that wasn't giving me water. I made a phone call to American Home Shield. They hit me for a payment. They came out. No matter what it was, somebody eventually came out. Some of these guys are far better and more qualified than others, and there's been a few that have been a little disappointing. The guy that came out resolved the issue for me rather quickly, and it was an act of stupidity on my part. I had had an issue with respect to a remodeling project. I was incapable of replacing some of the valves in my house, and a company that I had to pay out for, I hired to come in and replace some valves in my house. I was trying to use a line, and I didn't put two and two together.

The thing that I like most about American Home Shield is if you pay one time the $125 and if you have a similar issue in the next six months, they're gonna come for free.

Submitting a service request with American Home Shield is quick and simple. Anything that I can do quickly online is a lot easier. I don't like being on the phone. The website is pretty user-friendly. The most recent claim I did was a water heater replacement. I went online and there was a drop-down list of what appliance you're having an issue with. if it's something else, you can enter the info, hit submit, and they will assign a company to you. They'll call you to schedule somebody to come out. They'll come out and do whatever then submit everything over to American Home Shield. American Home Shield will take care of whatever their portion is and bill you the rest.
For my water heater, the timeframe was a couple of weeks. The person who came by to do that work was very helpful and it took him an hour to do the work. He didn't make a mess. American Home Shield is very convenient. A lot of people don't really suggest using home warranty companies as it's smarter to just put money every month into an account to have to pay for these things. But if I have money just sitting in an account, I am going to spend it.

My bathtub was slow with water draining. I submitted this claim to American Home Shield over the phone. The techs had to go on my lower level of my house and cut part of the ceiling in my closet downstairs to try to find the pipe. I have referred the company to other people.

I have two AC units and the heat pump for the upstairs wasn't working. The contractor came out once to change filters but they couldn't find anything. I ended up paying another company that was not warranty connected because the contractor from American Home Shield came out a second time and they said that there was a leak that they couldn't find in the wall and they didn't do that. So that was where this American Home Shield situation failed me. I called American Home Shield back and they said the same thing. So I had to call a whole other company to come in and spent $8,000.

Submitting a claim is an easy experience as far as going in. American Home Shield is pretty quick about getting back to you and finding somebody within your area to do the work for you. Then somebody gets back in touch with you in the next day. They say you can always submit online, but I always call because it could get lost in translation online. Within a day, they'll get back and say, "We've got your claim. XYZ Repairs will be at your house." It might take them three or four days.
I had a washing machine that started smelling like electrical burning. American Home Shield told me that they've got a company that would come out. I thought we would have to replace the washing machine. But when the company came out and looked at it, they said no. They had to order a part and it took about 10 days to get in. That was the only inconvenience. But as soon as the part was in, they scheduled a time to come in. They put it back in and the washing machine hasn't had any issues.
When I had I had to get my HVAC looked at, the contractor came out, looked at it and said that the coils were bad and it was leaking Freon. We had to put Freon in and Freon wasn't necessarily covered by Home Shield. Freon can be expensive. But the issue that I had was that they took the coils out and said they repaired it, and within a month later, I had the same issue. American Home Shield kept sending the same company out. The tech sat down one day when he was out here and said that I should call Home Shield and tell them that I wanted a different company. He said, "And when you tell them you want a different company, they have to get you a different company as far as the HVAC company. Because what they allow us to do is just basically keep trying to repair the coils. The coils are bad and you need a new unit."
I called Home Shield and they said they were going to send another HVAC company. When they come out, they looked at it and said it was not good and that I needed a new unit. So I wound up getting a new unit and Home Shield paid for it. Then I had to pay for the rerouting. But it was $700 versus a $7,000 unit. So that's why I still use them.

We had an issue with the furnace and the drain valve from the condensation that comes off of the air conditioner blower in the basement, and that's what we had to have a call for. Apparently, there was just a clog in the valve, and so that's what the repair was involved with. I reached out to American Home Shield online. A tech came the next day. It only took about 45 minutes.

When I submit a claim, the process is usually pretty straightforward. Once I submit the claim and it's approved, it pops up either immediately or within a few minutes saying who the service provider is. I just had another recent claim with a service outside of plumbing and it popped up immediately that it was gonna be a certain appliance people.
The service providers are always good, professional, and kind. They explain and walk through everything. This recent service was pretty straightforward. But I've had a water heater installed. I've also had them replace faucets and different things that were much more complex and they always take the time to say, "Here's what the problem was. Here's what we did to solve it. Here's how the new thing works." So, they are very thorough. Everything was great except when I had a pipe burst, it went on for several months before anything was resolved. American Home Shield sent out somebody for plumbing and then someone separately for heating because they couldn't agree if it was a heating pipe or a water pipe. They kept bouncing back and forth on who would own it and who would do the repair and American Home Shield was just in the middle. But American Home Shield contacted me every time to walk through what happened.

American Home Shield replaced the furnace and air conditioner unit. We paid $1,200 as a copayment. The contractor put it in and it leaked water into the garage and collapsed the ceiling. So when I called American Home Shield, they sent another contractor, PNP. They came five times and said it was okay. Each time they claimed they fixed it, it wasn't. So they told American Home Shield they couldn't fix it, and then they sent Speedy Air out, who claimed they fixed it. But we won't know until the weather gets warm and we use the air conditioner. So I was very displeased with American Home Shield warranty.
We also had a leak in the ceiling and I called American Home Shield. They sent a plumbing company out, and they couldn't fix the leak. They said it was not the pipeline. But I insisted it was. I had to call an outside contractor. They ended up charging us $1,300 and we had to pay for it out of pocket. I asked American Home Shield for some relief but I got nothing. So I'm not happy with them. I would like a supervisor to call me.

American Home Shield is a hit-and-miss. Doing claims online is much easier than calling. Recently, I made a claim for my microwave and someone came out the next day and fixed it. It took the techs about an hour to do the work. They had to pretty much take the whole thing apart and put it back together. They did it pretty quickly.

Submitting a service request is easy. But it's not always easy to receive service, especially lately. The companies that accept and work for American Home Shield are getting less and less reliable. This past summer, we had some air conditioner problems and the company that American Home Shield sent out to deal with our problem at the time was someone who seemed to be in a hurry. He didn't want to take the time to research what exactly was the problem. He quickly diagnosed it without equipment. It turned out that we had to pay him $1,000 for Freon that dissipated within 24 hours. We had to call him back in within 24 hours. He did some more or less satisfactory quick diagnosis. We didn't trust what he was saying by this point so we asked for a second opinion from another company, which we ended up using out of pocket.
American Home Shield is supposed to cover the cost of the coils but I'm still trying to get that. That was what was promised but we still haven't received that. Back in 1998, there wasn't anything smoother running than asking for service and getting service. The satisfaction was so quick and easy. But with how many people American Home Shield covers and the times, it is a struggle a lot of times. It was worse during COVID. It was hard to keep people in.
Less than 10 years ago, we started having trouble getting ahold of American Home Shield. When you would call, you were on hold for an hour and it was awful. But they opened up the online service request and that made things much easier. It seemed to be getting better. It was either that or the department that I needed was quicker to answer than it seemed to be a few years ago. American Home Shield is either hiring more to answer the phone or their system is getting better. I have not been on hold like that in quite a while.
We had two major things happen in the summer, which is not unusual. That's why we keep American Home Shield because it never fails that the cost of American Home Shield per year usually pays off in repairs. The longer you live in a house, the more that's gonna happen so it's important for us. We have two different houses and we keep American Home Shield on both of them, no matter what unsatisfactory problems we've run across. The benefits outweigh that. This past summer, we had issues with the air conditioner and as soon as that was resolved, we had a hot water heater issue. It went out. The plumbing company that American Home Shield sent out, we really like. They are the exception to the rule.
The companies that American Home Shield usually sends out are not your top-notch service companies. I've heard from many companies that it's difficult to be paid by American Home Shield on their end. I don't have control of that. I only know when I received bad service, I can request that the company never be used again. I have called and asked that they be taken off our list. But that's rare. But this particular plumbing company that came out had been out to replace hot water heaters twice in the 11 years we've lived in this house. In the last replacement, the tech mentioned, “If you have trouble again, you might think about an on-demand hot water heater.” I kept that in mind when this water heater went out.
American Home Shield was not gonna cover that. They will cover replacing the hot water heater. What they reimburse is the cost for that hot water heater. It cost us a bit out of our pocket but that was our choice. The only thing is I have not seen that reimbursement either. I need to call and see. That's gonna be time-consuming. You're passed from the customer service to a different department for the reimbursement stuff. It's a process.
American Home Shield has been around longer than any of the home warranty companies.I never heard of them until the mid-‘90s when we were selling a home. The real estate company we were using used them to cover the presale of the home. After we sold the house, we keep the policies on any home that we owned over those years. My husband is an impatient person and has geared toward changing them to a different company because there are home warranties to choose from now. But doing the research, none of them are gonna be 100% satisfactory. There are some issues upon reading the reviews.
We have had the same policies on our houses for so long. I really hate the thought of switching. If we were to not to like what we switched to and wanted to switch back, our coverage is not gonna be the same cost for what we get. Once you get a package, it's yours. American Home Shield has changed over the years and they've changed what they cover slightly, like they quit covering water softeners. There are probably a couple other things that have changed too. But that wasn't a deal breaker for us.
All of our family members carry American Home Shield now. All of our kids have learned owning a home is expensive and it's easier and better to go ahead and carry American Home Shield, whether they use them for each thing or not. In the long run, it's still going to help. The home warranty has gotten more expensive but most years we have a repair that would have cost us every bit that much to do ourselves.

We've had American Home Shield for almost 30 years and we've used them so many times. 30 years ago, they didn't have everything online like they do now. We had to call them. In the last few years, I've just gone online but it's the same thing. Whether you call them or go online, they respond timely. Some websites are very difficult for an old woman like me, but theirs is easy to operate. Once you find out how to handle it, it's not hard at all. Also, once I contact their customer service, they always follow through. Over the 30 years, they've increased the copay. It's not as cheap as it was before but they're in line with everybody else in the same industry.
Every time that they've sent anybody, they've always done well, and done what they were supposed to do. Not too long ago, Servicemax came and fixed an appliance and it was fine. I put in the thing with American Home Shield and in the next day or two, I got in touch with Servicemax. They came out three days later. It was in a timely fashion. I just recommended AHS to one of my nephews and he signed up with them. I said, "They're good. So pay them money, let them start taking care of stuff you have."

I have had nothing but one bad experience with American Home Shield. It was a long time ago when I was trying to get my heater done and they sent out someone who was really disrespectful. I was trying to get another person to come. I was having complications with that, and I was having problems with what I had to pay, which was 6,000 something out of my pocket to get a unit put on my house that I felt that they should have covered. I was gonna change over at one point when I had a bad experience with AHS, but since I've been with them for so long, I changed my mind about trying to change to another service. I try to stick with what I had. Overall, the technicians are okay except for that one experience that I had.

I had a clogged up sink in the tub in the bathroom and in the kitchen. American Home Shield's customer service was helpful. They tried to arrange for the contractor. In the past though, it used to be where if I didn't want somebody, I'd say, "Well, give me somebody else." They're telling me now that I have to take whoever comes up first. I had some issues with Aaron Plumbing in the past not showing up. So I said, "Well, can I get somebody else?" They said, "We can't do that anymore. We have to go whoever the first person comes up." I like to be given an option between at least two providers instead of having been stuck with one.

American Home Shield's website is not 100% friendly but it does what it's supposed to do. But the biggest problem that they have is their representatives. When you talk to somebody from China or from the Philippines, it's very difficult to get the claim processed. I have one claim denied some time ago. The dryer was not getting hot and the contractor they sent came out twice. The second time, they said I was putting too many clothes inside the machine. They saw a lot of clothes that I hadn't folded and they thought that I was overloading it.
The AHS rep I talked to said they could not fix it and that it was my fault. When the claim was denied, the tech said, “Well, this is our telephone. We can do it for you for X amount of dollars.” The guys were just crooks. The repair still isn't done. In the beginning, AHS was fantastic. Then they switched and things started to get a little bit out of control. They have to change the customer service people and they have to open their minds as to please the customer more than just, “You're at fault,” or, “You're not at fault.” It seems to me like right now, American Home Shield is looking for fault with the customer. So why do they offer that service?

There's been a time or two where I've not been pleased. This time, I'm not pleased with the amount that was paid on the claim. The contractor was very professional and knew exactly what they were doing. They had to cut into the Sheetrock into the walls in four different places. They did an excellent job in cutting out the areas that they needed to work in. But one of the guys fell through the ceiling and that had to be repaired. They cut out a big place and put a piece of Sheetrock back up there.
The plumbing company doesn't do the tape and batting so American Home Shield hired a guy to come do that. He taped and batted the ceiling but he did not do the four other areas that the plumbing company worked on. Now, we have to hire somebody to come in and do those. We owe over $2,000 out of our pocket on this one claim, plus our trade fee went up to $100. We had no knowledge of that before I called and turned in the claim. Plus, when I called and turned in the claim, I couldn't get to a live person. All it was was one of the robot calls.

American Home Shield has been great. I call them and they send a vendor. Normally, they contact me quickly within 24 hours and schedule an appointment to come see my repair. They come at their scheduled time and fix it. When it's high season in AC units, they might take a little bit longer but not much longer. This house is 13 years old and my garage was not going up. AHS sent someone right away, and they came out and fixed it the next day. I had some other issues with it and the little laser in the bottom was all messed up. They fixed that, too and now, everything's functioning. I've had air conditioning and microwave issues as well and AHS fixed them all.
I had an issue with one tech but it wasn't American Home Shield. They immediately called me and apologized because the guy was inappropriate. It was one of the AC unit guys. AHS sent someone else out and did an excellent job of taking care of it right away. When it comes to the claims, they are a little bit higher than the other companies. But it's tit-for-tat. They have to make their money somehow. The other company was charging me more monthly, but when I was getting the actual repairs done and filed a claim, the claim itself was way lower.

My AC wasn't working. I had two contractors come look at my AC because one of them couldn't fix it. The first contractor said that there was some issues with my AC and the one part was missing, so that they weren't gonna cover that. I told American Home Shield that I have been with them for more than 10 years. If a part was missing, it was somebody that they sent to fix my AC previously. They sent another company out for a second opinion and they were able to fix it. I used it for a few weeks after they fixed it. As of right now, everything is working good.
American Home Shield gives me a peace of mind. If something breaks, I have one place to call so I don't have to be searching out for different companies. Sometimes the companies that they send take a long time, especially the AC and it's 115 degrees in the house. Sometimes it takes two days for them to contact you and one or two other days for them to even show up to the appointment. I had an issue with my washer and they said they couldn't fix it because of the flooring. I had to buy a new washer and it worked perfectly. In general, American Home Shield is good. There are just a few little things that they need to improve. There are a few little things that I don't agree with but it is what it is. That aside, I recommended the home warranty to one of my cousins and she got them.

I was having a problem with my air conditioner and the tech took less than an hour to fix it. He knew what to do and he was very good, thorough and effective. I'm happy with it. My air conditioner is still working so it’s all good. Every time I've ever called American Home Shield, I have no problems with getting things repaired. The couple of times I called them, I liked the companies that they connected me to. I don't have a problem with the automated system and the company called me back personally to set up the appointments. So, I like the way they got that system. I consider myself a senior adult but I have worked with my iPad and my computers but for older people who don't quite understand all these new ways things are done, it could be a challenge and would not go too well with them. They like to talk to people.
I used to have the other one, but now, I have the highest program that AHS has. I went to that one because I had the one under it before and I had a problem with one of my toilets. The repair people fixed it and had I had the plan that I have now, I wouldn't have had to pay $300 out of my pocket. When I had the other plan, I wasn't expecting to pay 300 and some dollars because I thought I had it covered. It did not cover all. So I bumped it up and got AHS’s maximum so I don't have to pay to get these unexpected things that were not covered under that one. So, they should make their coverage a little bit clearer in the description of what you're getting.
Everybody wants things to be cheaper than what you pay and AHS should keep it where it is. I'm paying 100 and something a month and a friend asked me if it’s worth it. If I'm paying 120 a month, I'm just averaging but my point is that these appliances cost way more than that. And I don't like incidentals. I like to be okay if something happens and not worry about how I'm gonna pay for it. It all depends on how you look at it. I like to have insurance the same way you pay your auto insurance. If something goes wrong, I have to pay the deductible but my car gets fixed. So, it works for people in our income type range. I would recommend AHS but I have other friends who don't like those types of things because they figure it's a waste of money. But I don't see it that way.

My water heater was 23 years old. It broke down and leaked everywhere, so I did a claim online wth American Home Shield. That was fairly easy and it took me less than five minutes. The turnaround time was two to three days. American Home Shield paid for a new water heater and I had to pay for all the installation. Patriot Plumbing, the installer, was able to get out fairly quickly. They did everything. They had to order a new water heate and I had to wait three or four days for the replacement. My water heater is fine.
My issue was that when I looked them up, they only had a 1 star review and they wanted cash upfront before they did the work. I found that very odd and unprofessional. I'm okay with paying but cash is odd for a company. Also, to pay upfront before you do the work is a big no-no when it comes to home repairs. A couple people I work with have home warranties and they all found it very odd that I have to pay anything. I was like, “Oh, is that not normal?” And they said, “No. If you have a home warranty and you're paying a certain amount every month, they should have just paid for the water heater and the work. You should not have paid anything.”
That bothered me. I tried to call American Home Shield and get them to send someone else out because I wasn't comfortable with that and they flat out said no. That aside, the work was completed and everything worked out. I'm a new homeowner and I don't know how home warranty works, I was happy that it was only 500 versus thousands of dollars. But in the future, I'm not gonna do that again. I might fight the payment a little bit more. All in all, I would 100% always recommend to have a home warranty.

I've dealt with them on a couple of issues with this house. The representatives that I've dealt with were courteous and very understanding. Most recently, I had a claim for the unit outside that regulates the heat and air. The fan had went out. I called Home Shield by phone and they kept me informed. I also got a call when the technician from Texas HVAC was on the way and another call when he was here. I met him outside and he had me turn everything off and then on so he could see if it was something from the start-up or if it was something safety-wise. He thought the motor was gone and he had one in his vehicle. He took everything apart and replaced the motor. He plugged everything back up outside. He had me turn it on again and it came right on. The repair was not even an hour.
He explained everything really well and even answered some additional questions that I had just because I'm a curious type guy. He didn't have any problems answering questions and showing me how stuff works. I haven't had a bad experience with Home Shield as of yet. As long as they got the unit and they're making parts and they can replace the parts, Home Shield would trump any technician or handyman depending on what they're gonna charge. But I had one issue where we were gonna replace the hot water heater and it was financially easier for me to buy the unit and then have a handyman to replace it. Other than that, everything else has been parts and I've had no problems with Home Shield.

The microwave was broken and my dishwasher was not working properly. Most of the time, I called American Home Shield for that. Lastly, I had hail damage on the roof. But as of today, it's been how many months. It happened in June and I called them in August but they still haven't resolved it. They gave me the person and the technician said they don't do that kind of job. They already told AHS but nobody bothered to follow up and I'm tired of calling and arguing with them many times. So I'm giving up and I'm fixing myself with a different company and paying out of pocket. AHS has a fair price, not something too expensive. But I currently have a plan with a different company and it's much cheaper.
The last time I had a problem, AHS couldn't find people to come out to fix the AC. It took almost a month and I demanded that I look for a different person outside and they pay them directly. But they refused it. It took months and months and AHS kept telling me a different story. They kept passing me to different departments and I kept complaining. So I'm not very happy. Each person tells me different things and when you ask for the supervisor, they block you from talking to them until I cancel the account. When I called the cancellation department, at that time, they said they would reach out to the supervisor and they would give me a call. That way, you can get a hold of the supervisor. AHS says they will cover but wait until you need it. They don’t do what they offer. It's a bad experience.

One of the dials of our washer wasn't working. I reached out to American Home Shield online. Online is great. The turnaround time was quick. When Adam's Appliances came out, they were not able to fix it because the part isn't available anymore. I have confirmed with several other vendors that the part’s not available. American Home Shield promised to replace it. The trouble is there's construction issues. The washer’s still kinda working, but we're gonna have to make some changes in the room. The size of washers has changed, and we haven't been able to do it yet. People should have AHS. It saves a lot of money. We've had it for a long time and they charge a lot less.

I haven't been with American Home Shield that long, but so far, so good. I was gonna call them today, though, because I'm dealing with them with a situation. I haven't heard anything. I just purchased my home and I had services because I'm going through them for everything that I have in my home. I'm doing one thing at a time. The first thing that they did for me was my vent. It was some type of circuit type board for the stove. They ordered the part. The person came out, and they fixed that. The second item that I worked with with them was with my air conditioning. They fixed that.
The third thing, which is what I'm waiting for now, is my heating. It's heating with oil. So, before they could fill the oil drum in, they have to replace the oil drum. It has a hole in it, so you can't put oil in there. You can't test the system. My furnace system hasn't been tested yet because we haven't been able to. So, that's the next thing. The last correspondence I got from them was that they are doing a quote for that. It's good that everything is getting fixed. As far as the warranty, it's good.

My daughter was living in a condo that I have and she was complaining that the duct that was closer to the air conditioning was smelling like humid and it was getting colder than the other areas. The contractor went to check my air conditioning and there was something that they couldn't do because they were not experts. They were gonna charge me extra for cleaning the duct and didn't do it at the end. I hear so many complaints but my experience with American Home Shield has not been bad. My experience is normally positive because I’ve been lucky. They are good when you have an old house. I can put in things like appliances. Sometimes, the technicians are not the best. I know someone from air conditioning and he was telling me American Home Shield pays the technicians too low or the companies that they hire.
There are people who will tell you that you need to replace your air conditioning and it's not true. It happened to my daughter recently and that was when I thought that AHS is not that bad. At least they try to do it and sometimes, they send you a second opinion. I've had it, especially with old houses. I used to have another house and it was easy to call AHS. The techs would come and fix the problem so in that case, it's worth it.
AHS changed some things though, which are ridiculous. One time, the air conditioning was not working and I asked for urgency because there was a baby. They told me it needs to be 103 degrees to consider it urgent. At 103, the kid will not survive for it’s too much. And they changed that. I remember I used to tell them the issue was urgent. So whenever it's urgent, they run. They pay the company more to go immediately. Also, the monthly fees are going up. I'm not super happy with things like that. But I'm an easy person and I try not to complain.
The customer service has been better lately. They answer the phones immediately now. I've seen the change. Before, I put it on speaker and waited for two hours. They’ve improved that answering thing and they're doing better with that because immediately, they send you the contact of the company that's gonna help you. So when you call, they're always there. I always recommend AHS, especially in these cases when the houses are old and you rent it and you are not around. It gives you a little peace of mind.
When I started years ago with AHS, it was a lot cheaper but everything is expensive right now. I hate it when they don't tell you or raise the thing without considering anything. One year, I called because I put in a new house and it was cheaper than the one that I had for years. I asked why and they told me it was because I never called to say anything. So they are just waiting for you to complain. The guy made me a different agreement, so that's good. I’ve learned the lesson, which is, you have to complain to get something better. Every year, you have to call them.
Lately, I put in a request for a dryer and the guy came, and he was just looking at it. He said it was not the dryer. It was the vent. I asked how he knew that. He said it’s a condo so it’s a building and it has got to do with the HOA. I called the HOA and asked if they heard anything about the the ducts from the building and they said every apartment has its own duct. So I was surprised with that one. And I paid 100. Then when I called, he was late.

My heater had stopped working and the contractor got everything taken care of. They ordered the part and within the next two days, the part was in and they came in and replaced it. The air conditioner had a bad part on it and it was going out. It happens a lot. I wanted to commend the tech who came because when he came to the house, the part that was being installed went bad. And the tech went clear across town to grab another part from where his supplies were and brought it to my house. He knew exactly what part it was. When he got back, he threw it in in 10 minutes and he was done. It was storming that day and I appreciate all his work or that company. Everything is very professional when submitting a service request and it's been a great experience with American Home Shield. Their price is not too bad considering everything that's going on nowadays.

The plumber found a leak in the piping underneath the sink and fixed it. He made it look awesome. Atlas Plumbing did a wonderful job and was amazing. American Home Shield, not so much. Whenever we would turn on the AC, it was not cooling. When I called American Home Shield, they sent some technician. The service was very poor. When I called them, they were not responding. That guy came in and just went out to check. But I didn't see anything. That did not work. But when he left, the issue started again within a week and I had to call them again. Someone else came. The last technician was very good. They checked the things. Maybe they replaced the same thing or there was some issue. They went to the attic. Nothing happened with that. Same thing with the outer unit. He also replaced something. Now, it is good.
I've been with American Home Shield since 2012 because I moved into this place in 2012. At the initial stage, the service was good. But after a couple of years, they started changing something, that there is a priority and less priority. Also, it took time to send some technician. I have to make an appointment. And the price has gone so up. The monthly service charge is very high. I cannot afford this anymore. Because it says that the monthly charges has become $100, whereas I started with $40. Also, the service fee that they ask for is typically very high now. Usually, they charge me $75 per visit, but now they charge me $100 for each service. Supposed something happened similar here, if it was plumbing, they would charge $100. And if it is a problem with the AC, that is also a separate service. So, if I call them for two services per visit, those are separate two separate services because they are in a different group of service.
The quality of the product that they provide us is not as good as previously they used to provide us. Once, I had a problem with my faucet. The person from the plumbing company told me that, “American Home Shield does not provide this much of amount. So, I cannot give you this type of quality. You have to select from this price.” They gave me some certain price, which didn't go with my product. I gave them a piece of old faucet to replace the broken one. So, they did it. Whoever the people that would come from that company would give me whatever they want. The most important thing is I need to save some money. The coverage fee is too high, so I have decided to change this American Home Shield with someone else. I'm changing it now because I can't afford it anymore.

The first time around, American Home Shield had my address wrong and they couldn't change it. I had vendors that would come but wouldn't work on my unit because they said it was the wrong number. I also had another problem when they sent an electrician to look at an outlet. The tech said he couldn't fix it and it was gonna be $2,000 to repair my whole electrical panel. He also said AHS wouldn't cover that. He tried to rip me off and it cost me $125 for that electrician to come for the service call. I called AHS multiple times and got frustrated so I cancelled my contract. Once I canceled my contract, I had a contractor friend come over and switch the outlet out in five minutes. It cost me $50.
But I'm back with AHS again and I have my address correct. I've made a claim for my garage door opener which wouldn't open. The motor wouldn't work because the chain fell off. I had Sam's Garage Doors in three days. The tech was really good and fast. But the door is not opening 100%. If I didn't have a low car, I would have a problem. I contacted AHS and they said if the contractor came out again, I'd have to pay another thing again. Other than that, I've still saved a lot of money than if I didn't have the warranty.

As a new homeowner, American Home Shield was advised by my neighbors who had this warranty. So far, we haven't had too many problems but whatever has happened, they've been able to fix. So, it's been working out well. My HVAC was giving a problem. So, Air and Water Solutions came and they sort it out. It took about four visits, and everything was sorted out. They were efficient about things. The techs have all been very pleasant. They answer questions. I've been very happy with AHS so far.

I had a bad experience with my last service. When I signed for my warranty, they never said that they don't qualify the refrigerator if I still have a warranty from another company. They only said that if it's not working, they would fix it or replace it. I was without a fridge for eight days and I was throwing my food. They sent me one tech and then another. The techs report what's happening and AHS would say if the claim is qualified or not. They don't tell me right away what has happened and I had to buy a new fridge.

American Home Shield sent Lane Service out and our air conditioner has been serviced. The tech just tapped on something and it started working again. Our unit is a little bit older. A part needed to be replaced. Lane Service is good.

We have an air conditioner that had an issue. American Home Shield sent Air Link Mechanical out and they fixed it. It's fine now. Usually, when I had someone come out in the past, I always had to pay a good bit for the Freon. Now, the only trouble I did have is that a service person will take the call. They'll say, "Hey, we'll handle it." We did that with some minor issue with the ice maker, and it took them a while to come out. So, if they're not going to come and do it, they shouldn't take the call. I did call and say, "Hey, I need somebody else out here."
I refer American Home Shield a lot. I'm covered and I'm really happy with it. I tell others that they should get it. It's important to be protected. We're all gonna pay for repairs in our house. Even if you don't use it, it's a good security blanket. We've had really good response. One time, we had to wait and I just called our rep and asked, "Hey, could you check into what's happening here?"

The toilet clapper had ben making noises and it was leaking. That was replaced. There was also a problem with the garbage disposal. I'm pleased with the work and the timeliness of the techs. But the cost of AHS is too high. The year before, I paid 800 something dollars. I paid 1000 something this time. I had doubts renewing the contract.

It's been a good experience with AHS and I'm happy with my warranty. I had two appliances that needed to be fixed and the techs fixed them. The Whirlpool tech did a bunch of diagnostics. He said that he couldn't find anything visually wrong and it was probably the controller board that was not working. He came back a week later and replaced it. It worked so he did the right thing.

I tried American Home Shield for the price. It's a little bit below average. I used them one time and did my claim online, which was pretty easy. I described what my problem was with the drainage and they scheduled a serviceman to come out and check it. The serviceman, Gatordrain, called me the next day to let me know when and what time he would be out. Gatordrain was the only option I had. American Home Shield didn't give me choices.
When I would run my washing machine, my toilets would bubble. The Gatordrain person was in uniform and was friendly. He used a device and went up into my main drain line in my house, cleaned it out, and it fixed the problem. It probably took him 30 minutes to clean the drain line. I was satisfied. American Home Shield's coverage is adequate.

So far, the service with them has been great. I know what to expect and the process is never complicated. We've done stuff with our plumbing and HVAC system and everything was processed faster than I thought it would be. I paid our little service fee and I had no hidden fees or crazy stuff happen. Before I had the warranty, I paid over $1,000 for a repair on my HVAC. When we got the warranty, I paid 100 something. There's a financial benefit having AHS for sure. I'm also able to have somebody willing to listen and get our stuff in order. It's super easy so I don't have to stress anymore.

Something was wrong with one of my AC units up in the attic. The tech said it had two capacitors, one on the outside and one on the inside. The one on the inside had to be replaced and that's what he did. That fixed everything and it's been working ever since. If your HVAC is still under warranty after the installation or through the company itself, I would not recommend American Home Shield or any other home warranty company. But if it's out of warranty, definitely try AHS.

Submitting a service request to American Home Shield is a little frustrating. Sometimes, you wanna talk to a live agent because you're trying to explain the situation because the options aren't available and you can’t. The motor on the refrigerator went out and we tried to tell AHS that. They sent the person out who declared it. So, we were without a refrigerator for two months. And then, we had to get one and they didn’t have what we wanted in stock. Once you declare that something is not fixable anymore, it seems like it takes a long time to resolve the situation. AHS only gave us a gift card to Lowe's but I didn't buy my refrigerator at Lowe's and we had to pay them. AHS says they'll cover certain things but then they won't. They won't cover Freon in the air conditioning unit.
When I first started with American Home Shield, it was $50 and now, I pay 100 and some dollars. I understand about some increases going on. But it should be something locked in for customers who have been with them that long. I've been with them with my other house and I've been in my other house for over 21 years.

We've had a great experience with AHS. We've had to use them twice for a hot water issue and everything was great with the contractors. They had to order a part. And when it came in, they came right away and replaced it. AHS takes away the worry of something happening in your house and not being able to afford to fix it without the insurance.

Generally, I’ve had a very good experience with American Home Shield which is why I've been with them for a long time. But lately, it hasn't been very good. I've had an issue that hasn't been resolved for a few months already. This was for a sewer line issue in my house. Initially, when I filed a claim, AHS sent a contractor and they unclogged the line. This issue happened every six to nine months in the last five years and every time they sent out a contractor, they unclogged the line. The last time, the contractor recommended a camera inspection to see what was going on and the report showed roots are growing in the section of the sewer line. They recommended drilling and digging to remove, cut that pipe and replace it. So that was the work order they submitted to American Home Shield for approval.
Every time I call about the order submitted by the contractor that came to my house, I get a response that the agent on the phone is not authorized to work on my case. AHS has an authorized agent in the state of California where I live and will call me back but that doesn't happen. I called again the following week and I got the same answer. So I'm still in that circle of calling back every couple of weeks and I never get a call back from an authorized agent. I asked for a direct contact so I could call them myself. I'm stuck getting that permanent fix done and getting American Home Shield to approve the work order request from the licensed plumbing contractor.

American Home Shield’s service is decent. I had claims for a refrigerator, a washer, a garage door opener and an HVAC unit. They covered everything but the HVAC. It was time to replace it and that's not what happened. If they’re gonna advertise that if they can't fix it, they’ll replace it, then that's what should happen. It shouldn't come in to all of these other external situations such that the system is old and they can't do this so they can't do that. They shouldn't bait and switch. The HVAC was the most expensive and the most problematic situation. A new system was between $5,000 and $6,000. And AHS gave me a check for $1,1000. So, I wasn't happy with that. But everything else was good.

We have appliances in our home that are getting old and American Home Shield saves us money when we have to call to have them repaired and someone comes right away. The contractors were all good. We had our garbage disposal replaced and they got right to it and did it in a short period of time. They knew what they were doing. In my most recent claim, the tech fixed our icemaker as well as our refrigerator. We've had the same person come three times in a row now and he solved our problem. He was friendly and very nice. American Home Shield’s prices go up every year, which we don't like. But sometimes we can bargain with them and they're reasonable. Other than that, we're happy.

A couple of my air conditioning ducts were torn and I was told that the contractor could come and repair them. So, they came to repair those and it was easy. It was good. I didn't do anything. I just paid the man and he said he'd take care of it with American Home Shield. So I like that. They were very nice. The only thing was that the company that they chose was not even close to where I live. It's real far. American Home Shield should take our zip codes into consideration and it might be easier and faster to get someone. But I don't know how they work. Maybe not everybody takes American Home Shield.

If I need to call somebody, the people who answer the phone are kind of hard to understand. Sometimes, they don't understand what I'm talking about. But I've liked all of the contractors. I'm happy with the coverage. I wouldn't be without American Home Shield. I've had different things done over the years. It's been really, really helpful.

I was trying to get my unit replaced and I was supposed to pay the $700 and the place that was supposed to give me the option never called me back. I kept calling months and months and months until I just got rid of the plan with American Home Shield. The unit that I had there at my house was in a position where American Home Shield ruled it out that they couldn't fix it, so they were gonna give me an option to buy a new one. So, they referred me to this company but they never called me back. There were multiple notes where I've called in and I was begging them, "Please, I need to replace my unit because it's hot and I need y'all to get me on the phone with the right people." They kept calling the same people that never returned my phone call, and they never put the unit in my house.
Every time you call American Home Shield, you gotta pay another 125. I really wanted to keep them, but I couldn't get the results that I needed. It was just ridiculous. Every time I called, nobody could help me. I did everything I needed to do, but they didn't follow up. I had a claim that Universal Plumbing came out and the lady there was nasty. My plumbing sucks. They never fixed it. They were also supposed to fix the dishwasher. It's a brand-new unit but it's still stopped up. Universal Plumbing dropped the ball. Every company that American Home Shield referred me to, after I paid them every month, dropped the ball. It was just a mess. They failed me.
I also had an electrical company come out, and the tech fixed the problem with that, but he failed to fix the problem with the panel. I didn't get that fuse box replaced. The house was built in 1962. So, I'm trying to get all that done. It was just too much of a hassle to keep calling these people and they don't wanna come out. They let me expire on my 30 days and I gotta pay another $125. They just would not follow through. They wouldn't do what they need to do so the customer could be protected. When I needed an oven replaced, it wasn't replaced. The guy came out and told me he was gonna put the ticket in for the oven, but he didn't do that. I called American Home Shield and they said, "Oh, you gotta put that on a separate ticket, ma'am." So, it's just too much to deal with. I'm very dissatisfied.
I need $400 back for the months I paid American Home Shield so I can put it into the repairs in my house and try to go through another company and get it done. I threw away thousands of dollars just waiting on them to call me back so that I could get this stuff done and nobody ever did. The customer service reps at American Home Shield were nice. But don't like to talk to foreigners when I call because they don't understand anything and then I don't understand what they're saying to me. That's kinda frustrating.

I sell American Home Shield to a lot of people. I have American Home Shield in my own home and I'm happy with them. But it seems like every time I send this to a client of mine, it goes haywire. A lot of times, the average homeowner doesn't know how to deal with a home warranty versus me, a Realtor. So I have the ins and outs on how to deal with them. I do property management for my clients. My recent experience with American Home Shield happened on the 25th of November. I made a request when our tenant's refrigerator went out.
The contractor came on the 27th. The technician put the file as complete but never sent in a report to American Home Shield. So I called them on the 29th and said, "Hey, it's been two days. What's the status? What are we doing? What's going on? Is something gonna get fixed?" American Home Shield said, "It's marked as complete. We need to get ahold of the technician." They couldn't get ahold of the technician for two days.
I called American Home Shield again and said, "Hey, it's been a week already. My tenant has been without a refrigerator for almost two weeks. Nothing has been resolved." But they said that they would reschedule for the same technician to go out there. This happened two days ago and when I called them the last time, I said, "What's going on? Because my tenant doesn't have a refrigerator. This is beyond almost two weeks already." So they made the request two days ago. The technician company texted me today and said that they wanted to go out to the property on the 11th, which is Monday. Today is Thursday. This is past 24 hours since they should have reached me. So they wanna go out the second time to look at the refrigerator they already looked at once. This is why I didn't wanna use that specific technician. Why would American Home Shield send the same company that gave them a bad rep by not completing to file?
The people at American Home Shield are just customer service reps. They don't have a manager on file. When something's going wrong and you have to talk to that type of person, they have in their own team like that. But they're not a manager. So at the end of the day, my tenant still doesn't have a refrigerator, which causes my client to waste money to lower the rent because the problem is not fixed. My client and I are not happy.
Why am I selling this product if this is the type of customer service that we're getting from bad technicians doing the job for American Home Shield? The technician literally went to the house, did nothing, and marked the file as complete. If I hadn't called and said, "Hey, what's the status?", it would have just been sitting there this whole time. American Home Shield should automatically cut that guy out and go to the next person that wants to do good business for the company. This also happened to me with my own home in the past. When you call American Home Shield customer service, they can't solve anything and they don't have an answer for you. They want you to contact the technician to figure it out, and it shouldn't be like that.
The American Home Shield website is good. It takes your payment pretty quickly. It takes your payment pretty quick. But that's my argument too. They took a service fee, but there was no service done. That should be refunded automatically when it goes haywire on the technician-wise. The company should fork up that money, if somebody pays $100 to get some kind of response. I pay American Home Shield 800 bucks a year and that's a lot.

Some of the people who come with American Home Shield are fine. But we had problems with one company. They did a lousy job and the guy was really rude. He was coming out to work with the plumbing in the showers. But the second guy that came out was very nice. Sometimes, American Home Shield is good and sometimes, it's not so good. Sometimes, it's a long wait. Sometimes, the people are competent. Sometimes, we're not totally satisfied. There was one particular occasion when we told American Home Shield that they had to get another company to handle the situation because we weren't gonna tolerate the guy who came.

There was something wrong with the oven. We submitted a claim with AHS and since the service, it has been functioning fine. AHS saves money and we recommend it.

Everything with AHS has always been just very prompt and professional. It's really hassle-free and they're very easy to work with. Usually, I call in when I have a service request and when I talk to a live representative, everything is good. Their website is also really easy to navigate and user-friendly. You can see all the information you need for a replacement value. After submitting a claim, they send out a service guy and he'll assess the problem. If it cannot be fixed, they will give you a replacement value towards a new one. It's pretty straightforward. If you think that they undervalued your item, you can always call and talk to a supervisor. So they'll reassess it and have a supervisor look at it. I've been in a situation like that where they've given me more money than what they had initially proposed. The techs who have come out are also great and I've never had an issue.

The first time somebody was sent by American Home Shield, it was for my dishwasher that broke. They fixed it. The second time they came, I had a water leak and it ended up being a toilet. Then, not too long after that, my hot water tank went out. The toilet was fixed the same day. When they did my hot water tank, it took a little bit longer because they had to get it approved through home warranty. It took about five days with everything total. It was always the same people. They were super nice and really professional. They cleaned up after themselves. I was really pleased. I felt comfortable with them being in my home.
When my dishwasher broke, it was the same company that my husband used to hire. We had a refrigerator one time that quit working and they came out and fixed it. So, I knew them when they came out here. I felt comfortable with that, too. AHS has only done one thing that aggravated me. The price is fine for what I get and for my peace of mind, but they raised my rate and didn't inform me. It was 110 and it went up to 123. It wasn't much but I should have been told because I didn't know and it scared me.

I bought American Home Shield and used it when my unit was not cooling properly. The techs ended up adding coolant to it and the unit has been good since then. The techs were friendly.

My wife was happy about American Home Shield when she first got it. We used the home warranty and we liked it. We were impressed. Submitting the service request was very easy and simple. My wife called in and set the appointment up. The tech who came was thorough and polite. It was a microwave issue and it was something electrical. The microwave kept shutting off every time. The tech pulled the face panel off on it and fixed whatever was wrong. In about 20 minutes, he was out of there and everything was back on working. Everything was good and I was happy. The price seems a little bit much. It went up a little bit from what it used to be. But if you need it, it's good.

American Home Shield’s website is where I usually do all my claims and I like it. It’s easy and convenient when you're on the go. I’ve had to use AHS no more than three times a year and my most recent claim was the heater. I called AHS that morning and by noon, they had someone out here. So, they're quick on responding and getting someone to come out. The tech fixed the heater within a few hours and was nice and professional.
I had a problem with my garage and I wouldn't recommend the first set of people that AHS sent out. They weren’t truthful because they kept saying they didn't have the part and were ordering it. But they didn't order it. I told AHS I didn't want to deal with these people. Those people were not good at representing their business. I told them not to send them to anyone else. When people are calling when things are broken, they want it fixed. We're in America. We're microwave people and we want things done fast. The second people AHS sent out had the issue in the garage door fixed the same day. If you're not happy with a contractor, AHS will rectify that. So, I like that. I always tell anybody who owns a home or business to get AHS because they will need it and they come quickly to help.

Everything that American Home Shield covers is fantastic, even some of the new stuff that they added. I would like to add those but I have a hard time affording the 80 bucks a month. It got to the point where I couldn't afford AHS for a few months because of the price change. But they gave me a couple of months free, so I didn't cancel it. They've always fixed stuff timely and it's been a great experience. They've helped a lot over the years. When we first moved in, our fridge went out and the techs came and fixed it. AHS also did our hot water tank a couple of times as well as the furnace so, we haven't had a whole lot of problems. The techs from Foxcroft HVAC were great.

For my recent claim with AHS, my dryer was not working. The website of AHS is good. It is easy to navigate and easy to find out what I needed to be able to put in my claim. I knew the day and approximate time that the techs were coming and I knew who was coming. The tech quickly came in and found out what was wrong and had it fixed in no time. It's doing great now. I like the reassurance that if anything major happens if we would have to replace an appliance or something like that, it would be covered and not be an immediate expense out of our family income. AHS is worth the money and it's a very good company to work with.

For my recent claim with AHS for my property in Austin, the air conditioning wasn't cooling. I got an email saying that the air conditioning company would be reaching out to me on their behalf. They did a great job. But I have another property in Orange Beach and it's been a nightmare with every single thing I've dealt with them. I'm about to call them today because they just renewed me and I wanna see about canceling. But in Austin, it has been good.

I recently had a claim for my HVAC. The furnace wouldn't work. The claims process was extremely easy. I was immediately advised by American Home Shield that Starlight HVAC was contracted, and then within minutes, I had an email from Starlight requesting to make an appointment. The tech was professional, knowledgeable, timely and straightforward. He changed one of the circuit boards. I've been protected with AHS and I would not go without it. You pay the $85 upfront, but it's so worth it because, no matter what the problem is, you're covered. I highly recommend AHS. The problem is it's a bit on the expensive side for say a Christmas gift.

We've had a couple of instances where things weren't covered but American Home Shield’s service has been adequate. We had a stove repair as well as a refrigerator repair and the latest was some plumbing. The claims process for those went well and we got full reimbursement. We had some incompetent contractors come and then cause delays on a microwave replacement. But the follow-up was good. If you have a 20-year old house, things are gonna go bad and AHS helps cover those systems. It has paid out.

Having AHS, I like the security of not having to pay a bunch of money. Like when the water goes out, that costs thousands of dollars and my share would be just $100. I've had good and bad experiences with AHS. If it costs too much to repair, they go ahead and buy a new one. But sometimes they just wanna keep on repairing something that's old and just when things need to be replaced. But I don't have problems with the technicians that they send. I just wish we had more of a choice though. We don't have a choice of who they send.

One of the outlets in our kitchen stopped working. And we couldn't figure it out. It was a GFCI plug and the tech had to replace the whole thing. The tech was great. He took care of the issue, cleaned up his mess, no hassle, and didn't try to upsell us anything. He just did his job and got out of there. It was nice. Having AHS, I like that if anything goes wrong, it's not gonna destroy us financially to have it fixed. AHS has worked out for us every time we've used them.

I've carried an AHS warranty for years on my house and it covers the appliances. For my recent claim, the refrigerator wasn't cooling and the freezer wasn't freezing. Submitting the claims was very easy. The company sent me a text and then they sent me a picture of who would be coming. The tech was amazing. He explained everything, told me about the LG and what happens with it. He didn't have the part, but he ended up coming back the same day after his other calls and he got the part and he fixed it the same day. It was very quick, professional, and they took care of the problem within 24 hours.

A rat ate the wire on my central air and Comfort Temp’s tech came out and fixed it. He figured it out right away and then turned around and clipped it. He even cleaned it out. American Home Shield is great and the only thing is when I called for something with plumbing, they didn't do it. But if people don’t have any kind of home protection, they should get AHS. When my central air went out, it was hot. It was late at night when I called them and they called me the next day and were out the following day. I didn't wait long at all. One of the reasons why AHS doesn't know what company they're gonna go with is because they wanna see, with it being summertime, who's available and who they can get out right away.

Their website is good. We've made a claim on the dryer and the hot water heater. The company came out for the hot water heater and did whatever they did and it was fixed. For the dryer, the technicians that they sent to do the work could never get it to work right. I ended up calling the manufacturer and doing a claim through the manufacturer. They sent a technician out that was able to fix it. Everything runs well now. So far, all the technicians that have ever come out have been good.

The service that I get and the vendors that I've had through AHS have always been good. My only issue is the vendors that they have, their star ratings are always 3 stars or less. And the response time to the vendor sometimes is more than 48 hours before they can come out. That's the downfall of the vendors that are affiliated with American Home Shield. But the service, once they come out, is always good. I don't have a problem with that.

I've used AHS once and it worked out well. I had an air conditioning issue. I called them and they coordinated for someone to come out. I did it online. I paid my deductible and then they handled everything else. I didn't have to pay anything extra. It was a simple fix. However, I think that they send away too many emails. I'm constantly getting emails. And some of them are weird. It's like, “You should get American Home Shield.” I'm like, “But I already have you, so I don't understand.”

I liked the service that I was provided with when I had AHS in Alabama. I went with them again and they've been great. My recent claim was for my hot water heater that was leaking. The claim process went quickly. I paid my deductible. They replaced it. I haven't had a problem since. I get fast, reliable service from AHS. And they have a great resolution. They're always going above and beyond to make sure everything goes well. I highly recommend it to others.

American Home Shield is a good service. I used them for my hot water tank that had gone out. The plumber that came was nice. He texted me and told me he was on his way. He suggested that I get a bigger tank. He was straight to the point. But I've had a couple of people come out, and I wasn't impressed with some of the stuff that they did. The first time I used American Home Shield, a guy came. I'm accustomed to when I have my unit serviced. They change the filter and clean it. The guy said, "You just need to turn the switch off and vacuum out of it." My husband said they were supposed to do that.
