American Home Shield is a home warranty provider that offers service plans throughout the contiguous United States. It offers three home warranty plan options, priced from $29.99 to $89.99 per month, with either a $100 or $125 service fee. In addition to normal wear and tear, plans cover breakdowns from rust, insufficient maintenance and faulty repairs, which are often excluded from home warranty coverage.

I purchased a plan from American Home Shield, the one with the most extensive coverage. The last lady that I dealt with over the phone was very smart-alecky, but other than her everybody else that I've dealt with has always been very, very nice. There is one issue with a company I've had with American Home Shield. I had a lot of problems with this one company. I never had any problems with anybody else, everybody else who came in, they were supposed to do all. But aside from this company, I am very satisfied with my experience with AHS.

A co-worker told me about AHS. I've been with them for 5 years now. So far it has been great. No complaints. Every time I've had issues they responded and took care of the problem quickly.

I've had American Home Shield for 3 or 4 years. I used to own a bunch of rental places and I use them just because it's easy. When I have a bad experience I cancel my service. I haven't cancelled everything so everything must have been a good experience.

American Home Shield was good, it's just the wait time, and they have no control over that. It might be something that they might be able to work with the folks. Sometimes it would take two or three days before we would hear from the people as far as response. They did the job and they did do a great job when they came out. Home Shield did respond but it's the vendors getting back with Home Shield and the communication that was the problem. Overall it was good and it can be stated that I did save money.

I've had American Home Shield for years at my house in Atlanta. I moved to this house, having a little bit of age on it, in Mississippi. I had everything replaced and fixed and serviced. And then I went ahead and put the warranty on it because I want to make sure everything was up to scale before I have a few hiccups. They checked everything out the best that they could, but little leaks here and there happened and I turn the knob on the hot water heater and that was leaking. So they got a plumber come in and fix the unit.
I have recommended them to a lot of my friends. I have been trying to talk to mom and dad to get one on their house because it's very similar to the house I'm living in now. When I needed something done, they sent somebody right out. The only hiccup here is this is a smaller town, there's not many people that work for them in this area and so sometimes I have to wait longer. But they always came out and they fix the problem. Even if they had to come back a couple of times to fix it, they made sure they did. They didn't leave the thing for long at all. I've been very pleased with them.

I have a new home and I'm retired. I don't do any kind of maintenance around the house and for repair work I thought American home Shield would be a good thing to have as a resource and some friends have used them in the past and they were very satisfied with it. I've been with them for about 6 months. I have called for service and it went well and was very good. I didn't have any problems at all. They're very prompt and responded very quickly and cleaned everything up. I called one day and they were out the next so everything was great. It was a very consumer-friendly process and the technicians seemed to be very, very confident and the people that they had sent out are actually very good. They know what they're doing so I'm very satisfied with them.

I've had American Home Shield for years and years. When I was in Glendale or Eel Rock we had it and when we sold the house we extended the coverage for those people. Then we had it out here where I live now in Lano ever since we've been here. We built the house in '72 and moved here in '88 so we've had them all at that time. I've been satisfied on every event that I had to call for. They were timely and courteous as much as could be expected. Since there were independent people doing it, sometimes they don't do what they are supposed to do but they've always been there with any reason.

I have American Home Shield now for at least 5 to 6 years and they served me very well. They are extremely courteous and they are very fast -- when I just found I had a problem and I called American Home Shield they had people standing by, that within an hour or two I got a phone call and a scheduled setup and it's just absolutely fantastic. I'm very happy with them.

I'm not too happy with American Home Shield because I've got two service orders right now - one that they're working on from Thanksgiving that they gonna get finally complete tomorrow... because I had to order parts (I got the parts in right after Thanksgiving but they're just doing it tomorrow). Then I've got another service request currently right now with my garage door opener. I turned it in on Monday and to date nobody has contacted me to set up a service schedule so at this point I'm really not happy. It almost made me look at going somewhere else.

These boys have been really good! I've never had any problems. But I do have a little anxiety because a lot of people do complain about them and they say a lot of bad things I haven’t experienced. There's a rumor out there too that if you use it too many times they’ll get rid of you...

I've only been with American Home Shield for about a year and a half. So far they have been really good, well worth the money! I've had a different warranty company for every one of my houses. They are actually covering my real house and I've had two claims with them and they are Johnny-on-the-spot. Their response time has been excellent just like they said. I have been pleased with their contractors. They are professional. I've recommended them to several of my friends who have now purchased from them.

I've had American Home Shield for 16 years. I first heard about it through a realtor. It's been okay except if prices keep going up and things getting less than pretty quick... I'll cancel it.

I heard about American Home Shield from one of my friends. She was telling me how great they were and so I came right home and called. I've been with them for three or four months now and it has been great. I called them on my refrigerator and they came out the next day. It was amazing. It was really fast. I would and have recommended them.

Everything is fine. It sounded good to us and so we went ahead and joined up. We had moved in a brand new house and know how expensive it can be to replace a refrigerator or washing machine or anything like that. We were allowed to pick out whatever it is that needed to be replaced or fixed, and there were 10 or 12 choices so we picked out what we wanted and every time that we have a need for something then we just call AHS and they set up an appointment for us from some local agent.

I found out about AHS through a real estate company that I worked with years ago. I bought a plan that had everything except I don't have a pool and something with the septic system. Overall, they're pretty good. I'm not saying they are the greatest company but being a single person and not having anyone to do anything for you... it's better than having nothing. However I had a plumbing problem and that was the worst experience I have ever had because they never could get it fixed and they never fixed it right. It was the American standard product that was in here and they said that item was very difficult to work with. They got it fixed somewhat, useable, but it’s not fixed correctly yet. So I just kind of settled for that because I got tired of all the people come in and out of my house. Also when you call and you think that you have one to speak with 24/7 or they can send someone to your home within two to three hours, it may be two to three days before you see someone and I thought when I first signed up with American Home Shield it was a little different. You call in and you say that you're having problem with you’re A/C. Ok, they could contact someone for you. But I've had experience where I've had to contact people myself.

I didn't want to have to worry about repairs so I got American Home Shield. They were referred to me by someone I know, and now I've been with them for 6 months. It's been good so far. I have requested service and did it online so I didn't have to talk to anyone. They were prompt and easy to deal with.

I had pretty good experience with American Home Shield. My main complaint is that if we don't properly diagnose an issue and the service person comes out we are still responsible to pay $75 but otherwise, we've had a positive experience.

We've had American Home Shield for several years. I had heard about some of these programs from some friends in the past and decided to investigate. The experience with them has been good generally. Most contractors have been very well-prepared, very well-qualified. I had only one of those contractors who was deficient. I'd recommend them to a friend.

We had American Home Shield as a one-year package already purchased when we bought the house. We had them for a while now, since 2000. We used them whenever we have a problem. Their phone people that worked at the headquarters are just very good. They are well trained, courteous, pretty sharp. They are way above average for telephone access. Overall, we’re very glad we've got them.

The gas company found out that my dryer was a fire hazard so they told me to call somebody. They didn't tell me whom so I just called American Home Shield. We've had AHS since the previous owner of the house bought the policy for us the first year we were here, and then we just kept on with it. Because I'm serviced with AHS, I called them, and I was very pleased with the service. All I can say is, they have speedy calls back. Their service has been quick and easy and painless. Our experience with AHS so far has been excellent.

Something came in the mail about American Home Shield. It looked interesting so I just rolled with them and got their base plan. I'm very, very pleased with them. I had one service and their local contractor was very, very good. They communicated, came out and got it fixed. So that was good. They do what they say. I recommend them, and I already referred them to my parents.

I've been using American Home Shield for about four to five years. We used to own three houses and we had Home Shield for all three. I like them, I wouldn't renew it if I didn't, and I renewed it every year. I'm very satisfied with them. I had no problem with them. They always take care of me, whatever I need. They're on time. Anytime I have something wrong, within 24 hours I hear from the repair people whom they assigned to repair.

One of my friends told me about American Home Shield. I was going to be purchasing a house again so I got it to cover the bases. It has already come in handy just for stupid stuff that people who previously owned it did. A certified technician could actually repair so it's been really good. It's an easy process and they have prompt service.

American Home Shield was transferred with my property. They have been great; however the vendors that they are using are creating a problem because we are not getting quality service or quality product. I have an issue pending right now. They replaced the hot water heater with a very low quality hot water heater that doesn't work properly and now they are telling me I need to reset my whole system to accommodate this cheap hot water heater. This house is 18 years old.
I have other problems with a contractor they have... American Home Shield should be responsible for who they are contracting. It is a great plan or product, but the subcontractors they are using is below grade. With that I'm not going to renew my contract with them. I'm going to choose another vendor that use better quality contractors because I don't want cheap stuff in my house.

Overall, it's a good experience. I plan on keeping American Home Shield and we'd recommend it to anyone that was looking for it or to all my neighbors. The only problems I have would be the actual service people that come out here. I've had no problem with anything that came out here before but this last thing we had with our oven took a good while because they kept sending the wrong part. Other than that everything's been fine.

They sent Myers heating and air to fix air conditioner. They replaced evaporator coil. They cut drain line to short, it leaked on center beam under house. I have paper work and receipt. Called American home shield because of damage caused to beam due to water dripping on it. They said they're not responsible. They did confirm they sent them. Called Myers about what happened. They came to house, did not go under house and look. Looked at pictures on husband's cell phone and left, when I called them they said not responsible, they don't go under houses. I said "I have receipt and line runs from attic to under house and it tied together," they said "no, they didn't do it" and of course won't return calls. In process of talking to lawyer for damages to my house. You pay a fee for a service and then you really pay when you get service. It's funny, I have a receipt for American Home Shield and a receipt from Myers but neither is responsible. So now about 6000 for house to be leveled, windows don't open, some don't shut, tiles popping up in bathroom, cracks above doors, front door wont lock and there is more.

When we purchased our home, the appliances we got all came from Sears and when I called Sears to have insurance on them, they refused. I was constantly receiving stuff in the mail from different organizations and some of the fliers that I received were from American Home Shield. I called them and they did it. I've been very pleased with them because they stand by their products. If they cannot repair, they will replace and that happened with my washer. They couldn't fix it so they replaced it. I know it's not with them but the only problem I had was when my hot water heater went out and water was running everywhere. The company that came out didn't get here within the 24 hours.

AHS is a joke!!!! We are supposed to have a 48hr window for a service tech to fulfill an appt. Request was sent in and the earliest appt available was 72hrs out for a 2p-6p visit. We get a call from the contractor at 645p that he is rescheduling for first thing in the morning. According to AHS, they take no responsibility. All they have to say is "we are sorry for the inconvenience." Bye bye AHS after this water heater gets replaced (hopefully)!!!! This is the 5th time we have dealt with their unprofessional service companies being put off. Houston TX.

The person they kept sending out was not fixing the refrigerator. I told the people on the phone that it was not what he'd kept continuing to be fixed because I can tell the way it was the fool wasn't getting close. He kept changing stuff and I told him that he was just building up a bill for AHS (They changed two things that I don't think I needed). So eventually the refrigerator kept doing it and it did it like for the 5th or 6th time and they finally sent Sears out and the freezer and the refrigerator has been working fine ever since.
I've had American Home Shield since September. The first experience was horrible but after that it's been okay...

I've had American Home Shield on and off for so many years. It's all my systems in my house. My experiences have been positive. Everything has been easy and I've had to use them quite a bit this year so it's been nice. They are efficient and worth it and I have a two hundred year old house.

We've been American Home Shield customers for years. We annually renewed and also had them at our previous house. It's the basic plan. Our major appliances are covered and the electrical and the plumbing. We've had very good experiences with them. It's an ease of service. It's pretty basic and again because we are repeat customers we know what we've got. I know my options when we encounter a problem and what to expect. I know that I'm going to get real quick transfer from American Home Shield while on the phone or while online to a contractor.
I know that I hear from the contractor. It has never been more than 24 hours, most often it's less than 24 hours when they contact me and it has always been. Depending on a couple of times we've declared an emergency and they have come right out. If it's just normal problems, they are out within another 24 hours. All of my memories are good. They are professional on their appearance and demeanor and the way they communicate with us, their promptness to fix problem. They are easy, excellent, good value.

I got no big complaints with American Home Shield so far. So far everything has been pretty nice. This last call I had got delayed somewhat. My repairman's been very nice, exceptionally friendly. He said he ran into a difficulty in getting parts, I don't know, due to the end of the year inventory and all that stuff. Outside of that I've got no complaints. I'm pretty satisfied with it. In fact I'm considering trying to put a plan on it my mother's house for her. I've not reached a full decision on it yet but I'm thinking about it.

When I used American Home Shield in the first place they were just one that my company recommended, and I've just stuck with them the whole time. I've been with them between two different houses since 2008. My experience has been excellent. I have filed many claims online. The process is very easy. Every once in a while I file my claims on the phone. They always had prompt response times. I'm happy with the experience that I've had with American Home Shield.

We've been with American Home Shield for a long time. I don't want anybody else to have to fall into the same pitfall that we've done and we put a lot of money in there and it's absolutely ridiculous. I had one situation with my sewer system. They kept coming out and when they finally got down to the fact that it had to be replaced, they said that it wasn't covered and they've been fixing it for the last six months or more. That's crap! They said it wasn't covered because there were roots in there and the roots weren't covered. Still, they can't go down there, they don't cover to have a camera to go down there and find out if there are roots so how can they tell me that they don't cover it if they can't see the damn roots down there anyway! And they've been taking our $75 every two or three months to repair it. It's not worth it at all. I'm going to be shopping around for someplace else.

We first had First American for 12-13 years and they kept raising their rates and excluding more and more things that they covered so I started shopping around and did an internet search and found several of them, compared what they were offering for the price and chose American Home Shield. I've had them for about a year and a half. They are great. I call them or request service on the internet, either way they are fast. They let you know right away who is going to respond to the call. The contractor calls you pretty quick and they are here in no time. I'm happy with them so far.

I had a home warranty program with American Home Shield before. When I relocated I got a warranty with another company, through the seller. So when that warranty was up, I definitely came back to American Home Shield. So I'm a repeat customer. I have placed claims with them. I am totally satisfied with them and have always been.

My girlfriend had been telling me for years that she had a home warranty, and I didn't know too much about it. And she said it's the best thing to have, especially when you're a homeowner. So I said okay, and I let it go on the back burner. Then I started to think about it because I was paying out of pocket for every little thing. Every time I looked up, something was wrong. I had to pay out of pocket. I happened to be surfing through the Internet and came across American Home Shield. I read some reviews on it, and decided to go with it. I will have had them a year in May.
There's an electric contractor that came out that said he had to order some parts and would come back when he gets them. But I have yet to see this gentleman back and that was in October. I have placed a phone call back to Home Shield, in which they contacted him. They had to put a new ticket in again, and I still have not heard from this gentleman. Things like that make me frown because I have recommended them over and over again, but with this particular situation, I've even called him personally, and didn't receive a phone call back. And I had a plumbing issue where I had a plumber come out, and the guy was a cocky because he had to come out again less than two weeks later. I felt he insulted us in a way, because he says, "Oh well, you know, when you buy cheap products..." I have the top-of-the-line products in my home and had to correct him on that and didn't appreciate that comment. And I hope that if I need plumbing that they have somebody other than that person.
I liked the service in the beginning. It was excellent but if this is the kind of people that they have working for them, it almost makes me upset that I put another warranty out there for a year, for another property of mine. Any time I call in to Home Shield, they're very professional. It's the people that they send out that is the problem.

I heard about American Home Shield from my son-in-law and he was very happy with the service, and it sounded like a good idea since I'd owned the house 10 years. I've been with American Home Shield for three months and my experience has been fine so far. I filed one claim and it went very well. The AHS staff was good and prompt response. They were professional.

I learned about American Home Shield through my brother-in-law. I got their condo plan. The company that they ended up sending out the first time did not fix my A/C the way I thought they should have. And of course it got to be winter time so I have to wait until it's coming to spring and summer to see if it's working right but now they did fix the last repair. I've only dealt with them twice before. Overall pretty satisfied, so far.

I learned about American Home Shield through a realtor when I purchased my home a number of years ago. I had everything covered. The American Home Shield team was absolutely fantastic. I appreciate the fact that they are very responsive. I wish they sent or give you the choice of sending the same service company. I had a couple of issues where they sent different companies out, different vendors. That was okay because it does give you exposure as to who is in the area in case you do need somebody that you can contact. But sometimes you meet someone and the company has been very good to work with so you'd like to keep them but. I still haven't had a bad experience with any of the vendors that they've sent to my home for any repairs. They've really had been super. Overall experience has been very positive and I will continue to use them. And I have recommended them.

My mom gave me the number for American Home Shield. I have the plan for my appliances inside the house and my pool equipment. The contractors that they use are very professional. They're here when they said they were going to be here and generally my issues were resolved right away. The experience is excellent.

My next-door neighbor had a problem with their air conditioner and a repairman came, and I asked him if he could do work on my house and he said he was working for American Home Shield. So I got a plan from them. I don't know what they call it. It covers my appliances and I pay a separate monthly fee to cover air conditioner and heat. They have been helpful. It seemed like a good deal for me. They came out for three different appliances and I only had to pay one deductible and the repairs cost more than my year's premium. It's good peace of mind.

I have attempted to get a washer and a range repaired since Nov. 22, 2013 and as of Jan. 15, 2014 my range has not been repaired and I had to go and buy a washer. AMS collects millions in service fees, however will leave their customers at the mercy of incompetent services reps and sub-standard technicians. The customer is not their top priority and their supervisors don't take calls for project resolution. I was told by a Kentra (cancellation department) that I held no more value than anyone else, even though I'm a 14-year customer. On what planet does tenure not count and you don't want to retain a 14-yr relationship, huh? Then Ms. Kentra tells me to go and find my own company, when I pay AMS to give me quality technicians to resolve the issues. I work hard for my money and won't throw it away on a company that believes they are entitled. My sister is a housing counselor and has recommended AMS to 1st time home buyers as part of their pre- and post purchase education, that will stop immediately due to this experience. There is no way anyone should go through all of this to have a service request fulfilled. If anyone knows of a warranty company that has exhibit quality service and excellent reputation, we are quality customers, please refer.

American Home Shield is typically responsive. We get contractors that finish up the jobs in a very quick period of time. And the cost, while it has risen double, it's taken it 20 years to do so. So I don't think that's too bad.

Overall, I've been very pleased with American Home Shield. I've had a great response from them. But right now, I am very angry. It was the first time I had a bad experience with them. I called last Saturday because I had a plumbing problem. There was a foul odor coming from the bathroom and I called AHS for help but I didn't talk to anyone. I talked to a machine. I called last Saturday trying to tell the machine and it gave me the confirmation number of some SDL Plumbing. I did not hear from SDL until Monday evening almost when they called, so I said to just cancel it. That was a whole three days gone. They need to figure out some kind of way to notify.

I heard about American Home Shield when I bought a home and part of the closing was that I got an American Home Shield policy paid for by the seller. I got the full coverage of what you could get for a condo. They've been great and helpful. I used it once last year but it was just for minor repair. I had a burner out on a cook top. They asked me if I had any other things and I said I was having trouble with the ice maker on my refrigerator. So they said they could be done at one call because the repairman care company they were using serviced both. So that was great and they were both very minor repairs. The repair people that I've encountered have been polite, clean, great. Overall it was an excellent and a positive experience.

I've been very satisfied with American Home Shield. My experience with the team has been good so far. I have the plan that covers everything. I've used them about four or five times. The only thing I noticed they went up $10 but I just hope this is not a trend. It’ll just keep on going because I’m on a fixed income.

There were so many home warranty providers out there and I've been with American Home Shield for a while. They have been courteous and knowledgeable. The experience was fine but their washing machine guy caused all my problems so I was very unhappy with that. I had the washing machine repaired and I don't believe that he fixed it correctly. So then the washing machine overflowed and I didn't use it for a while until I noticed water was dripping and it went into the furnace, so I had to have all that stuff repaired. Then they denied it because he had said that I overloaded it. I have been washing clothes since I was 10 years old and I'm 68 right now. I know to load a washing machine so I wasn't real happy about that and I was getting ready to leave because that cost me $600. But I haven't left yet.

I had American Home Shield a few years ago and then I switched to somebody else and then I went back to them. Everything has been fine. There was a little confusion between the vendor and the company but maybe it was on my part of who was in charge and who should have been reporting back to me about when they would be coming over. But I found their service to be extremely valuable. They're excellent.

One of our friends had American Home Shield. I purchased the basic plan - 48 or something a month. Their people have been great and courteous. They responded immediately and the contractors came in on time. I had a problem with the dishwasher, and they came. The guy found some other problem and I was surprised at how quickly they were able to deliver the parts the very same day and get it fixed so I didn't have to take another day off. Overall, I think it's worth my money because it saves me the headache of having to go find plumbers and different people. Since they do it all, it makes it a lot easier for us.

We've had American Home Shield for five years and it’s been great. The plan we have covered everything. We've got two refrigerators, stove, washing machine, dryer, air conditioning and heater. They've always been very courteous and answered anything we needed to know. Every time we've had to have something done, it’s been done in a timely manner and taken care of to our satisfaction.

Had my toilet break and would not flush. A piece small as a thumb tack broke off when opening lid and fell into toilet where there was human waste in toilet and when I flushed a bucket of water in toilet to manually flush toilet until repair man came it flushed down toilet. Because piece size of thumb tack was flushed they denied claim. They danced around saying "I am not saying you should of stuck your hand in waste but because you didn't retrieve part your claim is denied." When I call to cancel plan since I had to pay $300 for new toilet since I would not pay sleazy repairman what he was trying to swindle out of me the customer service put me on hold for 25 minutes when I asked to cancel. When finally came on and I expressed my frustration only after she asked I was put on hold every time I said something she didn't like. When I asked her to not put me on hold again and to just cancel my account she told me that she has to take a hold of our conversation so she was just giving me time to calm down and think. What kind of customer service is that!

My plan with American Home Shield is the one that covers all the appliances and the furnace. They've been very good and responsive. They're trying to repair a dishwasher I have now and if we can't, I can get a reduced price one from them. It's a positive experience. I was skeptical at first but they've responded every time I've had a problem and have corrected 3 or 4 things in my house.

Submitted original request about under sink "water heater" leaking via voice recognition on the phone. Was called by service company who told me that they were told it was the water heater and cannot attend to the matter since it was not what they were told. Scheduler was extremely curt and refused to answer question about the $75 call charge. I then went online to cancel the original service request and properly inserted the correct request in regard to the "instant hot water dispenser".
Service personnel was dispatched this morning. I brought the unit that I had taken out over the weekend AS IT WAS STILL LEAKING/DRIPPING even though the water had been turned off (2/3 gal capacity) so that he can see what condition the unit was in. He wanted to collect the service call fee before he was going to call and he did nothing else besides commenting that there was calcium buildup. He then spent the next 20 minutes outside the house calling some party. He returned to tell me that I will receive a call to re-install the unit and he will check that it leaks first before they can do anything. I told him that it will take me 5 minutes to re-install the unit and he can check - but he refused saying that he has the next call to make.
My schedule was from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. Service personnel arrived at 10.15 and left before 11.00 am. I am totally dissatisfied with the service I got. I could have easily install a unit myself but since it is under service warranty I wanted to make use of something I have paid for but never made use.

My home now is 19 years old and things are breaking and decided to get American Home Shield. I purchased the $70 to $80 a month plan. It’s not inexpensive, I have 2 heating units. I called them on the phone. I tell them what's wrong and they send somebody to come in and do my repairs. I've been very happy with the people who have done my repairs. They use a company that I don't like to use and when I call them I make sure that I tell them that that's the company I don't want to use. Especially because they service heating, air conditioning. They also do some plumbing and stuff. When you get to the point where your home needs warranty service, it's a great program.

We have had American Home Shield from my very first house I bought in South Carolina. It came with the house, and at that time we'd never even heard of it. That was 1994. We got their basic coverage and then we also have the washer/dryer and the fridge. Every time a repairman comes out, he's really good and courteous and normally it's fixed during that visit unless there's some oddball part he has to order and then it's still going 3 or 4 days. They're actually very, very good with one exception. We've had our washer repaired 5 or 4 times and at one time they said "You guys just need to replace it." We said okay. They said "We'll prorate it for $400" but from my understanding of American Home Shield, if the appliance can't be repaired, it had to be replaced and the entire cost of replacement was covered. It was kind of strange they only offered a $400 prorate.
I would highly recommend American Home Shield to any new home buyer and used home buyers. Every time I buy a home, I get American Home Shield coverage. I referred my mother and she got American Home Shield at least 2 years ago.

We are with AHS long time ago, so not ready to change. We keep renewing our warranty and we cannot get rid of it. The only thing we don't like about is their co-payment is a little bit high premium because the Republic insurance, the co-payment is $60. AHS is like $75. This is the only concern me and all the people that are subscribing to Home Shield have. When it comes to service, they are good and they respond. We don't have any problem at all with them.

I got AHS through my mortgage with a particular institution. I have their service on my rental properties in southern California. Getting them was a matter of convenience for me as I live in northern California and at that time, I didn’t know of any other home warranty companies. As far as AHS’ response and professionalism go, they’re excellent. In the past, I have had maybe two or three unpleasant experiences where the contractor has come, and later on I found out that apparently this particular item was not covered, and yet I had to pay the service fee, and I was not able to get a refund from them. To be honest on a couple of occasions, I’ve thought about maybe going with somebody else, but I’ve been with them for a few years now.

I was comparing the home warranty companies via their internet advertisements, and American Home Shield looked good. I chose them because of their payment plan per month and they seemed easy to work with. I've had AHS service since September of this year and our experience with them has been very good. I've had to use them on a situation with my central heating and they were very prompt at coming out and sending a service person. The only thing and it's not really their fault, it's spelled out on their contract, I had to wait for about two weeks without heat while they decided but I was able to discuss things with them which was wonderful.

I've had American Home Shield since last August and it was because of a friend in Oklahoma that had it. They had a problem and it was taken cared of very well and she said they were very pleased with it. So far my experience is not good. We have a tank-less hot water heater, and it went out Thanksgiving Day and they still haven't fixed it and got it resolved. They sent a plumber, and then an electrician and sent the plumber back. I kept telling them it wasn't an electrical problem. It was a plumbing problem, something going on in the unit itself. So nobody has been able to fix it. I'm unhappy with the fact that they warrant something that they haven't got anybody to work on and that it has taken from Thanksgiving. I mailed them, and they didn't quit drafting my payments. They are extremely slow and unconcerned. My main complaint on them is they're saying they don't have anybody in our service area that knows how to do this. So, it seems to me that if you don't have anybody that's bonded and licensed and insured to work on it that you shouldn't sell policies that cover it in that area.

Our experience with them has been fine. However, their vendors could use some work. I'm having an issue with the plumber they gave me yesterday. They were supposed to come to unclog my sink and it's still clogged. They were supposed to be back and I haven't heard anything from them. I don't think it's AHS’ fault. They should do more research on their workers or whoever they get though. Other than that, I've had no problems. They're real prompt on getting things done.

They have called the same people, the same company, for everything we ever have done and what we pay the monthly fee for. I wasn't happy when the monthly fee went from $60 to $75, so to get somebody to come out here to do anything it's a $75 fee. That is a little steep.

The vendor came and claimed to have 12 years of experience but could not give a logical explanation of the issue that I had. He cannot explain why there is heating in one section of the room and none on the other section but recommended a work around and said to "try it out and then we will see what happens". What kind of answer is that?! And the trial they recommended cost a few thousand dollars. Excuse me, you want me to experiment a few thousand dollars and then see what happens??? The agent from American Home Shield felt that this is the solution and that you the customer are silly and stupid for not being able to understand and follow it. I tried to explain but she wasn't interested in listening to what I have to say about my issue and how it was handled. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she said her supervisor is not available and would get a supervisor to call me. It has been close to three weeks... I've yet to hear from the supervisor. So clearly she is also not very honest.
I came back from my vacation and saw a letter reiterating the same thing that this agent said. The issue that I had raised was completely ignored. It's unfortunate that it's still outstanding.

I've been with American Home Shield for a long time. I'm glad I have it. It's always been real good. We are up and retired now and when something happens, we get serviced. 95% of the companies that we dealt with are good. They were maybe a few companies that they recommended that were not really good and I called them and they rescheduled. They were always concerned about my needs and everything. They're excellent!

We have the American Home Shield regular plan on appliance, light fixtures, plumbing, washer and dryer and refrigerator. There is no problem once you get a hold of them on 1 800 number. One time we had trouble calling them because it was late at night. I was at the hospital and something happened at the house but after that we've had no problems with them. It's a good plan. So far we don't use them that much but when we have used it, it has worked.

I have not received an e-mail or telephone call from AHS. But after talking to a couple of friends, I think maybe it was a misunderstanding on my part. AHS is not going to replace my Water Heater if they can prolong it's life by increasing the temperature setting. They probably won't repair or replace it unless it is leaking or totally broken down. That is OK with me so long as I get good service when needed.

I contacted AHS regarding my water heater not heating the water like it used to. I have had this unit for 7 yrs, so I thought it was time to replace it. The plumber came and increased the setting so it would heat the water more at a higher temperature. He said there was nothing wrong with the heater. My point is, if it is not functioning the same, at the same setting it has had for 7 years, then obviously it has some build up inside and it is going to go out in a few days, today or 6 months from now. Why do I have to wait till it is totally broken down, when I have to go to work without a shower, or it develops a leak. Why not be proactive and fix it. Worst part is, the plumber won't take my calls. I think the mechanics that work for AHS have a separate phone lines for AHS calls, and do not take their calls.

I learned about American Home Shield from the bank. I didn't know about anything else so I went with them and bought the plan that covers almost everything except for a pool. We don't have a pool or a whirlpool or things like that. Their people have been wonderful and have done a great job. It's been a quick service. Every time, if needed, their assistance has been there. American Home Shield sent me an email advertisement. After I got the advertisement, I spoke with one of my family members about it and they have a policy with them and have had one 3 years with them so that was how I started with them. I've had both good experiences and not so good experiences with them. When I first had a situation with them, they were very responsive and if something needed to be fixed, they would come out and take care of it.
Over the last two years or so, they had some changes going on. Some of the problems were misdiagnosed and I wasn't happy because I was still out of service of of whatever it was. They would set up an appointment and I would have somebody not come in to help me. The last time that I used them in December, I had everything in the house break at the same time and they were very responsive on getting out here and getting the situation taken in control, so they had a diff. in their service. Last month, they were very responsive and that's great.

I heard about American Home Shield on TV. It was a good idea because I have a rental property. I bought it over a year ago and haven't really had to use it except I had a scheduled maintenance that I initiated also, that hasn't come too well. I'm still waiting. They have postponed my service call now for the third time and now they got it scheduled for this coming Wednesday. With all the cold weather and everything, I can understand that and it's not a big deal. It's just an inconvenience for a businessman and to work my time around. And I'm on hold for 20 minutes before someone even answers the phone. That's not good service.

I’m a realtor and have several rental properties. I knew about American Home Shield with reference to extended warranty on purchases of properties that you needed in your coverage. I've been a customer for at least 10, 12 years and never had a problem. Whenever I called they were on time and they get someone out to the residence or to the rental property fairly quickly. On one occasion the owner even came out and made sure it was taken care of real quickly. They are very professional. I’m very satisfied. I was referred to American Home Shield from somebody at work. I've been with them for at least 4 years. We had a little blip last year where they collect the service fee. I had already prepaid it over the phone with American Home Shield, and then the vendor demanded collection from the person who was opening the door for them. So there was a double payment and it took me forever to get that resolved. They finally realized after I just had a fit and they finally gave me a refund just recently. So every time I tell them, “Please, do not collect from my tenant.” They won’t even do service and I keep paying it over the phone. So that was the problem. But other than that, it’s been pretty good. It’s a good system and they’re able to be reached and they respond in a decent amount of time.

On Friday our plumbing went out and he backed out. We waited until Monday to see a plumber. My husband's been paying for septic as an add-on charge. What the plumber told us we should do is to have the guy come and pump our septic if it needs to be pumped and install a vent line - an access line of some sort. Anyway we're having to pay out of pocket to have somebody come and do our pump or septic. We have a rider that's supposed to cover pumping our septic and that kind of stuff. Of course, they wouldn't pump our septic because it doesn't have that access pipe to it. You actually have to do the pipe properly.
My husband said you have those access things but you can't do it right to do it that way. You have to establish it to correctly pump the septic tank, and they really did have access to clean up the line. We won't know if we could pump the septic until they open it, but they would've been accessed to pump the line. We've never had a problem before this; we just pulled the toilet and run the line, but American Home Shield didn't want to do that. So we're still without any plumbing since last Friday. I'm angry with my experience.

I've got the top American Home Shield plan. They have been awesome compared to First Choice which I had before. It's been like night and day. The customer service has been great. My stove went off right the day of Thanksgiving and they had a repairman out here the next day because I had another meal to cook for the weekend. It's so great so far.

I've been with American Home Shield since 12 years ago. I have always had their warranty plan that covers your appliances and also the plumbing. I haven't used any of their discount programs for their members, but they've offered it. I've been real pleased because without them I couldn't afford to replace these appliances that I would've had to replace out of my own pocket. Even though it's cost me some money out of my pocket to get it up to code, which is not their fault, they've been a great help to me. They took good care of any problems I've had.

American Home sent us something in the mail and we decided to go with them. We've had them for 17 years and the experience has been great. The people who they send out know what they're doing and they come and fix it and it's been great. We haven't had any difficulties with them. I have always recommended them.

My husband selected American Home Shield. We've had to use them four times. They've been okay. One was great, the others were okay, and one was terrible. They do follow through but the vendors aren't the best for everything. The heating was good the second time, but the plumber for the water heater was not.

I went online and found American Home Shield. I liked what they offered. It seemed to be more reasonable as far as price goes, so I got their plan. I've been a member since September, and so far so good. I have one service call right now and it's been going well. He's very responsive, courteous, and knowledgeable.

The people that had the house we bought had purchased a seller's warranty from American Home Shield to cover all the appliances and stuff for a year. And we were able to get that when we bought the house. We went ahead and renewed it and have kept it ever since we've had the house. American Home Shield has been very good. We had one bad experience with one of their vendors. This past fall, when it started getting into the cooling season, the furnace was in bad shape so we had it replaced. The contractor was only here part of the time. He had another full time job, so he was in and out and had one of his service technicians (a troubleshooter) do the installations so he was never completely sure on how everything was supposed to go and the owner could only come in at certain times. It just dragged out but eventually they got it done. I was unhappy with how long it took. The owner didn't seem that concerned about getting the job done as he was more concerned about his other full-time job. Every other contractor has been excellent. I have renewed and will continue to renew the coverage. I'm very pleased with the service.

My daughter and another friend told me about American Home Shield. They sounded better so I also purchased it a couple of months ago. I only had one claim. They came over since I asked them to fix my air conditioner and just do a maintenance check. The guy that is doing it is in a hospital right now so he was not able to come. But they tried to do what they're supposed to and I don't have any complaints.

I've been a real estate agent and I've been in the industry. I knew about warranty companies. I did a little research and found out that American Home Shield was with a large company that had four or five other entities underneath one umbrella under ServiceMaster. I figured they must be pretty good so I got them. I've been a customer for six or seven years. I've never had a problem. I've had a number of things done and they pretty much do what they say they're going to do. They've been very good. We've had plenty of appointments with them. In fact, I have an appointment coming up. American Home Shield is reputable, good quality, and worth the money.

During the holidays some meat that was being heated in a container caught on fire in the built in microwave. The microwave shut down and soot and burned grease was deposited on the inside of the microwave. American Home Shield arranged for a Technician to service the microwave... An appointment was made and the technician concluded the microwave needed to be replaced. AHS then made arrangements for Sears to come out, without contacting me. Finally arrangements was made for Sears to come on the 8th of January, no show. A call was made to Sears. I was informed that the appointment was for Thursday, the 9th.
The Sears technician came out and stated he had a work order for the range. He was informed that there was nothing wrong with the oven, it was the microwave. He proceeded to check out the oven and concluded that there was nothing wrong with the oven. Another call was placed with Sears and AHS and a conference call was held. Arrangements was made for another technician to come out on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Both technicians stated it would have to be replaced. The lead technician placed a call to AHS who informed him it was not covered. Upon calling AHS customer service informed me that a fire in the microwave did not constitute normal wear and therefore, it was not covered. So the microwave is still not repaired.

I started using American Home Shield 7 years ago. Generally speaking, I've had very good experience with them. A couple of times, they claimed that they had been able to schedule a repair appointment within a couple of days. But the repair people did not show up and when I called directly the repair people, they claimed that they had no work order or didn't know anything about the job. It would appear that on occasions there's a breakdown in the system. The staff that I've dealt with has been very helpful. When I'd call back I'd say, "Hey what's going on?" I was able to get a hold of somebody. I've been very satisfied with what American Home Shield has done. I have recommended them to friends and they've gone with American Home Shield. It's been fine.

We were having ice storms where I live and my heat went out. The guys that American Home Shield sent out said they have to order a part, in 3 or 4 weeks. I wasn't pleased because I haven't had heat in the house since then. They told me they would provide up to $125 and space heaters. For an extreme situation like that it would have been better that they find somebody else to take care of it for me. I have a daughter and I've been living with people here, as it is cold at home. I go home the other day and my water heater is leaking all over the place and I have a wet carpet, no heat, and no hot water. They said they would cover it but my out of pocket cost is $550 for the heater hose. All they can do is cash out or I can find somebody to do it and they will reimburse me. I feel in extreme situations such as mine, more could be done. Other than these, the experiences with AHS were cool. Now, I'm on a limbo. I have a house that I'm paying mortgage on that I can't even live in right now. I would still recommend them because anything else that I've done with them has been done in a timely manner and handled properly. They are good but could be better.

It has been years ago since I've been with American Home Shield. When I first bought the house, the previous owners had it. The plan was for the appliances. The service is pretty good. When I put in whatever I needed online, I'm getting a phone call from whatever the company is the next day. Just one issue... why would they go up to see us every other year?

Peace of mind. Their contractors work so that's a plus. Sometimes the contractors vary in their interest in complete customer service, and the company follows up. Right now I've got one that I'm waiting on. I ordered a part and it's been a week or so and I had a little trouble with them getting back with me. But when I contacted American Home Shield, the company called me so that was good.

I had American Home Shield in Arizona for quite a few years. I moved here to Texas so I continued. I've never had any trouble with their claims rep. They have been courteous and helpful. But with some of the contractors they have, not too good. Still I recommend them to everybody everywhere I go. I always say "if you guys have insurance, everything is fine." American Home Shield has always been good, nice and helpful whenever I needed them.

I worked for Service Master when we lived in Memphis and American Home Shield were a subsidiary-- they were one of the companies in the Service Master brand. When we've had something break, AHS come out. They're very speedy, got it fixed and I save a whole lot of money. AHS is very convenient. They're very customer-friendly. We've had a couple of occasions where the vendor wasn't real sharp but they've been very quick to take care of any of those situations. We recommend AHS all the time.

About 12 years ago we bought a repo and the real estate agent was offering American Home Shield protection. Because when you buy a repo, you really don't know what's wrong with it. It made us feel more comfortable about buying the house. So then when we sold our house, we offered American Home Shield as an incentive for our buyer. Then when we moved into the house that we originally had American Home Shield on, we went ahead and bought it on our own. We have had them for two years this time and 12 years ago, we had it for the one year. We've had a couple of small or minor things go wrong and they were very easy to contact and took care of it right away. They are really, really great. Very reliable, convenient and easy.

The house was built in '93. The appliances and the house itself have not been updated. So for my own protection, I needed to have some additional protection for the first few years I’m here. American Home Shield’s name was given to me by the people here at High Park who administer the retirement community. I’ve been a member since August and it’s been wonderful. My heat pump actually froze most recently. They have to come out the first time and they showed me how to turn on the emergency heat, thank God because it always happens when it's cold outside.
I was able to have heat while I had to wait 2 weeks for the part. They put the part in and 3 weeks later, it froze again so they had to come out the 2nd time and they didn't charge me the 2nd service fee because it was a follow-up and I thought that was pretty special that they took responsibility for the repair and this time it was only a $10 part but the first repair would have cost a lot of money. Then I had a leak in my dishwasher and another contractor came out and they took care of that in short order and I had a leak under the sink. I had a 3rd contractor come out and it turns out one of the fittings of the bottom of the pipe had just rusted out or something and they fixed that right there on the spot and I haven't had a problem since. So I'm a very happy customer. I would recommend them to a friend.

I could've got me one but their cost is cheaper than the one I end up getting, but I didn't want to layoff it so they sent me a check just like they said they would for the amount they said they would. They were very professional and they did what they said they'd do when I purchased the policy. I've referred them to a couple of people but at this point, they haven't purchased anything.

And with the maintenance and stuff, you don't have to necessarily know who is the best person to call to fix whatever problems that you can have. American Home Shield already know who. My experience has been good. I've had American Home Shield for almost 20 years. I've had no problems at all except they are just sometimes difficult to get a hold of over the phone but when we needed them to get something fixed or replaced they're right there and the people they've sent out have been really good. The Service Master group has been just fine. I have recommended them to a lot of people.

For AHS to get someone to contact me when I need a repair done, it's more speedy to go through them for this than try to get a repairman on my own. And the ones that they sent are always qualified and knowledgeable.

American Home Shield is great. I love them. I have them one year short of how many years they have been in business. I have everything covered on my properties including appliances, the refrigerator and the dishwasher. And a swimming and all the pool equipment that goes with it. I like them a lot. I have recommended them to everybody. I have bought maintenance agreement on all three of my properties so that twice a year they come and check out everything for me. The contractors that they book the business through had been extremely nice, very efficient, very courteous and have answered every and all questions that I have.

A fellow pastor told me that he had Home Shield. That’s how I got acquainted with them. I've been a customer for a couple of years. My account got cancelled there one time, but it was mainly out of a misunderstanding. Then I was able to renew it and it’s been back up. I've used it about twice and the experiences have been good. They've always been courteous and knowledgeable and able to answer my questions. They've always done what they said they would do for me. And so, I’m perfectly content with that. I recommend them all the time.

Right now I'm angry with American Home Shield. I've had to call them and still haven't heard anything back but they're still taking payments every month. I had a problem with my heat so they sent somebody out back in November. The person who came out told me it was my compressor and he was going to report it back to American Home Shield. The following week they sent somebody else, this time a company from within my hometown and he said the same thing. I haven't heard anything back since that visit and I was worried in December. So I called them and she said he never reported anything back and she will contact him and I have yet to hear anything else back. My heat still hasn't been fixed and I've been running the emergency heat which is just enough to get by where you don't freeze. At this point, I don't even know who to talk to about it. I've called I'm not getting any feedback about anything.

I've been using American Home Shield for a long time. I have two homes and a plan for both. It's the all inclusive one that covers everything. Everything's been great. When we call the issue gets resolved quickly and no problems at all. It's a quick, professional and excellent service.

I saw American Home Shield online and I got the plus plan that covers everything. The only thing I was upset over at the moment is the Sears people that they sent out to repair my washer. They damaged the floor in the laundry room and I'm having to argue with them to get it repaired and it's been two months. The Sears guy told me that I ripped the floor and I told them that there is no possible way that I can rip that. I would have to pull the washer all the way out of the laundry room and shut it back and I'm not strong enough to do that. American Home Shield is awesome. If something breaks and my husband is not here, I just call and they fix it and I'm good.

My nephew told me about American Home Shield because he had it and told me what a good program it was. He had never used it but he had it for a couple of years. So I went out and got it. And when I did use it, it worked real well for me. The representatives were very, very polite, very efficient and have the information right there.

Met and exceeded my expectations!!! American Home Shield has been excellent and wonderful. I had a very good, relatively new oven and cooktop and the part was no longer available for some of those tiny items and they replaced it even though it was in excellent shape and almost brand new. I was happy with that. I would have preferred to have it repaired but since they couldn't repair it they replaced it :) It was very easy.

The service has been excellent. I've had a microwave repaired and a dishwasher fixed. I've had the fan motor in my heater and air conditioner repaired, or replaced recently. They were pretty prompt. I'd called in another service request and got some other company. I wish I wrote down the number because the lady says, "Don't you know you have a 60-day warranty that they had to come back out if anything was wrong with it?" So what happened was there was another noise in the fan area and the guy came out and it was just a simple wire. But other than that, the experience I've had with them has been okay. It's been excellent dealing with them.
