When we first moved into this house, we had a series of plumbing problems and we never got rate changes or anything like this due to the amount of claims we had. It's been really great. I have no complaints with American Home Shield. My latest claim was for our furnace. It's just an old furnace. It was making noise and the tenant got a little worried, and so we called in and they sent out a technician. The technician said it needed to be replaced, and that was it. Overall, AHS been really nice to us. I'm gonna keep it up.

AHS has been providing excellent service to my home needs for over six years now and I could not be happier. The contractors who perform the repairs say AHS is the best home warranty company they have worked with because they are easy to obtain approvals from and they pay promptly. When the men with the tools who are doing the repairs are happy, the work is done well and on time. That speaks volumes to me.

I had Parker Plumbing come to my house 3 times. My hot water heater was acting up and not producing enough hot water. Each time they came they told me that nothing was wrong. They said they checked the coils, and blew out the heater. After they left the third time, my husband got mad and called Maytag to find out about getting coils and he watched YouTube to find out how to change them. The heater is under warranty so they sent me 2 heating coils. One thing we did find out was that they never blew out the heater as they said they did. My husband blew it out and it was loaded with gunk. He also changed the coils, and now it works great. We have plenty of hot water. I am dissatisfied with Parker Plumbing, not American Home Shield. I called 3 times and you sent someone each time, and didn't give me a problem.

I had an AC unit went bad. I submitted a claim and it went real smooth. It went great, in fact. The contractor was upfront, clear cut, no issues and just right on. It did not work at all before he got there and it worked perfectly afterwards. AHS is outstanding and as you would hope.

While my contact and dealings with AHS have been satisfactory the referred workmen/repair company have not been very good. I have had 6 house calls on a 3 1/2 year old washing machine and have not had luck with a decent repair. They were just here on Friday and the first load... not working properly. I have had 3 different companies here for the problem with AHS. I would like a resolution by a decent repair not a replacement item.

We have used AHS for appliances, air condition-heat (preventive maintenance) and plumbing. This is the second house we have used AHS for service and when we moved in this house they had it covered by another company. We did without air in Texas for 2 weeks in July. I immediately cancelled their service or lack of and signed up again with AHS. I will never do without them again. They supply stellar service.

This is my second time with AHS and I have always been pleased with their customer service.. even when I was not so nice. When a contractor did not repair my item to my satisfaction, AHS sent another contractor right away. As US Army retiree .. I give you a Hooah, AHS!

I'm not too happy with American Home Shield right now. A lady at work had told me about them. They were okay until recently. In fact, right now I'm waiting on them to replace the furnace. My furnace broke down and the guy called it in Monday and everything was set up and I was supposed to have my furnace replaced the next day. And then they said no, they had to get another company. I couldn't have my furnace until tomorrow, they're supposed to replace it tomorrow, and it's cold here in the east coast. I feel like they didn't go with the first person because they probably found somebody cheaper and the cheaper person couldn't get it to them as quick as the other person. I know the game.
So right now, I'm a little disturbed because ever since Monday, I've been without heat when they could have had it done Tuesday. I feel like they're really not giving me anything because I've been paying them for a few years now. So, I've almost paid for the furnace myself. They could have done a better job on this particular instance.

The A/C at my townhouse in Plant City, Florida was not putting out heat. You gave me the name of a local company to check my unit out. They were courteous, prompt, completed the work and gave us energy saving tips. Could not ask for any company to do a better job.

I reported my hot water tank had burst, flooded my hallway and did not know exactly what to do. I was so upset. When I collected my senses and realized I should call my home shield insurance and get some information, which I did, I realized they had the answer to my problem or situation. Immediately they started to work and as soon as they had all their contacts available I was notified and my problem was solved. I only called back once.

My furnace wasn't working and the temperature outside was near zero degrees. I contacted AHS and a service person fixed my problem quickly. He was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. My furnace is working again. I would recommend AHS to anyone with home property.

My hot water did not work one morning so I had to call AHS. They assigned a plumber to come out and assess the problem. It was deemed that the hot water tank had to be replaced. I had the best person come out and replace my tank. He gave me tips on hot water tanks and how to keep them running for a long time. I am a Real Estate Broker and tried to encourage all of the buyers and sellers to use a home protection plan like AHS. So naturally when I bought my own home, I included AHS with the purchase. That was 7 years ago and I still carry the policy, till this day. Gives me such peace of mind on anything going out. Thank you so much AHS.

Contract #**: In the second week of January, you sent a service person to repair our washing machine and dryer. The washing machine was successfully repaired and the dryer was authorized to be repaired but we requested options. We talked to AHS and they agreed to call us back within 24 hours with options. They did and we elected purchase. We went looking and selected the model. Economics led us to purchase locally with reimbursement from AHS of $298.36. Karen in purchasing said that our check would arrive within 2 weeks of when they received a copy of the purchase receipt. The receipt was sent on 1/14/14.
When we did not received the check, I talked to someone named Chastity who verified the purchase receipt was in their possession but she said the check would now take 3 weeks. We called again on 2/13/14 and talked to Ebony who now said there was no record of our receipt but if we would send it to her, she would assist in getting the check out by Friday, 28 February 2014. She was successful in making that happen. If this is AHS policy to delay payment, then the people were successful. If not, somebody dropped the ball and we were disappointed with having to call to get action. This is the first difficulty we have had with AHS.

This replacement took longer than I expected but really through no one's fault. It took time for me to visit stores to examine the recommended replacement only to find that the model was not available. Secondly, the manufacturer's substitute was too large which required me to contact AHS to see if another model was acceptable. After receiving approval from AHS for another model it took a week before the shipper called me for a delivery date. Unfortunately this call came while I was out of town and I was not able to accept delivery until a ten days later. From that point on everything went smoothly and efficiently. The installer showed up on time, was very professional and businesslike and completed the installation successfully. I was pleased with the AHS service but might not have been as pleased had the appliance been one that was essential, such as a water heater.

Had another company come out to fix water heater. They could not figure out exactly what the problem was so they replaced the heating elements, but while doing this they broke the water line which caused a flood in the basement. Called american home shield and they sent a repairman out and he fixed the problem in about 15 minutes which was the line in the water heater. I would recommend this service to all of my friends and family. I am a very satisfied customer. Thanks.

Tenants reported stove not working on 2-18-14. As of today 2-27-14 it has not been fixed yet. They are calling me and I have told them it was not at my home it's my rent house. They are still calling my home. This issue is still not solved as of 2-27-14. Please to get this corrected the address for service is **.

American Home Shield was great to work with. They were prompt and responsive to my needs. The service was provided by Sears and that's where my problems came in. They cancelled several times and it was difficult to reschedule. All total, it was about 6 weeks before my repair was done correctly by Sears. I love having American Home Shield to protect me from expensive repairs!

Every claim I have put in with AHS usually is a fight to get completed... or it is denied. The latest was my pool heater which I pay extra for each year went out. They sent a tech who said the pool chemicals were off a bit and that's what caused the heater to quit working... denied again. Seems to me any large claim other than a washer or dryer they do anything to get out of paying the claim. Water heater went - I was charged over $600.00 to get a new one???? They blamed permits and removal of the old unit. Oh and the old one was not installed correctly so I had to pay for the install of the new one..

Within 30 days we had to report 3 times the same problem. We have a rental property at ** in Sachse, TX. The problem was with the furnace. It was finally repaired but it took 3 times to get it taken care of. I am the owner of the property, not the renter.

I have always been satisfied with Am. Home Shield's service. They have been both prompt and efficient in their service. However, I have a heating and air conditioning unit that has been band-aid fixed on several occasions, that really needs to be replaced instead of being temporarily fixed. What do I need to do about this? However, overall, I would highly recommend American Home Shield to my friends and family.

Our realtor recommended American Home Shield and then our seller had it before us. They said that they had good experiences with them so we chose AHS. They've been pretty good. We had a little issue with our heating, and they were very courteous and very helpful. They were able to get somebody out to help us pretty quickly. When they answer the phone, it's not like they're going to hold for a long time. They're very efficient, very knowledgeable and pretty accessible.

My renter in Unit B called on Saturday, January 11 that his hot water heater was cold and he could not get it to stay lit. Here in Bowling Green, Kentucky, we had record, freezing temperatures for the previous two to three weeks. Because of this record cold, pipes all over the area had burst and plumbers were in high demand, working lots of overtime and weekends. After contacting AHS they promptly called back to say that they had assigned AKR Plumbing out of Park City, Kentucky to service the "dead" unit.
Angle, the owner's wife and scheduler informed me that Roger was "booked" to at least the end of the following week. I have used AKR on several previous occasions and after explaining the situation, she said she would check his schedule and see what she could do. He arrived Monday afternoon and after inspecting the unit checked with AHS who approved a new AO Smith water heater. By Wednesday the new unit was warming the water and the renter was very pleased with the speed that AKR had responded. AHS and AKR worked together to handle a serious problem in a professional, expedited manner - thank you to both!

Repaired on first visit. I did notice that the one side of the dryer is sticking out a bit. I didn't notice it until several days later. It appears that they didn't get all the interior screws put back in. Is it too late to have this looked at???

We've been very happy with American Home Shield. We've had the coverage for 7 months, and have used it five times. We had our water heater, dryer, furnace, and oven fixed. Everything has been as advertised. We've only paid the $75 service fee on the calls, and the rest has been covered. The only downside is that when we called about our water heater it was on a Saturday of a Holiday weekend, and we had to wait until Tuesday to get it fixed. While that wasn't the greatest option, we are still very satisfied; and will probably sign up for another year of coverage.

I called in on February 27, 2014 for dishwasher repair. The service man came out on February 29th. This is the fifth time I have had to have a service man come out on this dishwasher. It is only 4-1/2 years old and was a top LG model. I have spent over $300 in service calls and have asked about my options regarding replacement. We paid $890 for the unit. One of the repairs cost $880. When I asked the service company what the options were, he said it was up to AHS to offer the options. When I called AHS, they said it was up to the service company to offer options. I have been on the phone with AHS several times with no answers except for "We are sorry for your inconvenience". That does a lot of good. The AHS representatives offer no help whatsoever. "ANGRY" is an understatement right now. I am tired of going in circles with no resolution. Right now it has been one month and my dishwasher still has not been repaired.....supposedly they are waiting for parts. Really!!! This is a top brand. What is the problem? AHS does nothing to help.

My husband used to work at a business where they took care of the servicing for American Home Shield. He does remember about it and thought they did a great job of providing service, and when he wasn't involved with it. We went ahead and got it for our rental and our house. We're going on three years now. They're very good, courteous, quick, get the job done, call you right back or they answer the questions right away. If I had a problem with something, they've been very good about taking them off the list and informing us we can go with someone else and not have to repay the $75 fee. I have been recommending American Home Shield to friends.

I originally called in a heat claim with American Home Shield, which I'll refer to as AHS, on 12-17-13 and our heat is still not heating properly today! They assigned McGovern Mechanical to handle this claim. Brian and another employee from McGovern came, a few days after I called in claim, and told me that they thought they could replace the whole unit due to it still being under warranty. However, after not hearing from them for several weeks, I made several calls to them and finally got to talk to someone who told me that only the coil was covered. It took them either a month or month and a half to fix the coil. They could not charge up the unit because it was too cold. I understood that. However, there were some days, in these past months that they could have taken care of this and did not.
I have called to follow up and each time I talked to receptionist Bobbi **. She said she would have someone call. I never received call. I did this so much that out of frustration, I ask for owner and she said his name was Scot and he would call. However, he would not even call back. I called for Brian several times as well. He was the service tech who came the first time. He did not call back either. I called one day and the receptionist, Bobbi **, could not believe I was still dealing with this. I was told the same thing.... someone would call. They never called. I was always given an excuse such as.... due to weather they could not charge unit, also, other times would say that they were too overwhelmed from opening the Nashville location, etc. etc. etc. Their original office was Memphis. I called there and left message for owner, Scot McGovern and he still did not call.
In the meantime, I was following up with AHS every few days as well. AHS was only referring it back to McGovern. I followed up 12-20-13, 1-14-14, 1-17-14, 1-22-14, 2-1-14, 2-4-14, 2-9-14, 2-10-14, and again today 2-24-14. On 2-1-14, my complaint got assigned to Evelyn ** in the research area. It took her 4-5 days to call me. I explained in great detail all the problems I have incurred with them and McGovern not handling my claim. She called McGovern and talked to Brian and was told it had been too cold to charge my unit. She just acted like it was no big deal. I ask her didn't she think that since my original claim was 12-17-13 that they could have found one day to charge my unit! I reminded her it took them well over a month to put in coil. She just acted like it was no big deal.
I ask for President or CEO of company and she said she was the highest I could speak with. I also reminded her that a couple of the AHS reps had called McGovern and were hung up on. When they tried to call McGovern back, they would not answer the phone. They could not leave message because answering machine was turned off.
Well, Brian from McGovern finally came after my husband had called him daily. The unit was charged, however it is still not working properly. My husband has contacted Brian on his cell phone again telling him the heat is still not fixed. He said he was sick and would let the owner know we still have problems. I also put in another call to Evelyn ** at AHS. This is the second day and she still has not called. So far, nobody has called from either place to address this LONG overdue problem. I'm just hoping that something will be done soon!
My second problem is this..... In a conversation on 1-17-14, I told AHS I wanted my 75.00 service fee back because of all the difficulties with this heat claim. I was told they could not refund my service fee, but they would send me a coupon for a future free service fee. This was apparently done 1-17-14, because reps have told me this, but because I never received it, I called to inquire about it again and was told that all certificates were stopped and they are not sure when they will be mailed out to customers. When I asked why they were stopped, they could not give me an answer. The rep today said it would be released four weeks from the original request and I reminded her it had been over four weeks already. I ask for a supervisor and she said she had to send an email for one to contact me in the next 24-48 hours. Very frustrating!!!
Another problem I'm dealing with is.... a plumbing issue. I called around January 17th regarding my garbage disposal. It was making a loud sound. I called and cancelled the claim before 7:00 a.m. on January 22nd because it began working properly. I thought it was messed up and something must have just been hung. Note: The disposal is still under warranty.
Today, I received a bill from AHS where the plumbing company named Hers and His plumbing said they did not get notified of my cancellation by AHS, so I would have to pay the 75.00 service fee. The rep did come but told me because I cancelled claim, I would not have to pay service fee. Also, the morning I cancelled, AHS said they would notify plumbing company immediately not to come and I would not owe any fee. When I contacted AHS today, they said that I would have to pay since the plumber was already on his way when I cancelled. This is just not right! Both companies assured me no service fee would be due.
I'm so frustrated with all these problems. We purchased this home warranty when we purchased this house over fifteen years and I can't get them to help me! They take my monthly premium, but refuse to see that my claims are satisfied. Nobody will do anything to help when I call for help. You cannot talk to anyone higher up. You just feel stuck. I plan to write to the President, Mark Barry. He says in one of his articles that he is aware they need improvement and I'm hoping that he can get my problems handled. I am disabled and stress makes my situation worse. I think I've endured enough! Makes you wonder how many people are having these type problems. Thank you for providing a place for us to rate companies that treat people unfairly. Hopefully, this will help others by reading my complaints.

I was scheduled for a service within 48 hours of my Saturday morning call. Rocking H Plumbing was dispatched that same week (it was a leak but no emergency). They showed up at the time expected, fixed it right the first time. I paid my $100 service charge. All good!

My furnace stopped blowing late one night so I contacted AHS. I received a call the following morning and set up an appointment with one of their vendors. The service man came out that afternoon and informed me I would need a new motor. He ordered it and put it in early the following morning. Great job.

Central Heat and Air stopped working during the coldest time of January. Contacted AHS online, notified them of the problem and they dispatched GreenWay Home Services immediately. GreenWay contacted me within 24 hrs and dispatched as Technician. The Technician diagnosed my problem and made the necessary repairs. Results not only solved my immediate problem but with the repair in January resulted in a reduction in my Electric Bill for the month, the January bill was less than my December bill which wasn't as cold, unit was just not functioning efficiently evidently for a while. Unit working great during this coldest time of year for us thanks to AHS and GreenWay Home Services and Technician Kevin **. Not sure why any home owner would not have such a Home Warranty Service for their home. Thanks to all.

I recently called AHS with a service request on our heating system. The company they sent, Infinity Heating & Air, were awesome! They called within 24 hours, were there when they said they would be, and fixed the problem expeditiously. We're very pleased. Also pleased with the follow-up from AHS to ensure the contractor got in touch with us and that the issue was resolved. Very happy with this company overall.

We have had American Home Shield for about 18 months now and have used it twice. Both experiences have been great. Our last was when our washer stopped working in mid-cycle. We called American Home Shield and a service Tech was there the next day. He explained to me in about 30 seconds, not kidding what the issue was and told me he would have it done in 20 minutes. He then serviced the washer and our dryer. American Home Shield is kind of like the Affordable Care Act, only it really works and it really is Affordable!

We have used our home warranty several times for appliance repairs and air conditioning and heating issues. The agent for American Home Shield immediately opens up a ticket for us and refers us to a reputable repair company. Within a very short period of time, a repair company comes to our home and fixes our problems. We are very happy with our American Home Shield warranty.

The repair company was dispatched within two days of my initial service call. They gave me a two-hour window and were timely and professional. When the repair turned out to be cost-prohibitive, an AHS representative called me and took a complete description of my washer to research a comparable replacement. They called back the next day with a recommendation, which we felt was a bit more than we really needed, so we countered with a model more to our liking. AHS placed the order and within 3 days, we had a new washing machine. The delivery people gave us a four-hour window and were timely, professional and thorough. They took away our old broken machine, cleaned up the mess is left behind, put the new machine in place, connected and tested it. They did a great job. We couldn't have been more pleased with the entire process.

2 weeks ago I called in regarding my fridge being out. A tech came out and supposedly fix it. Then my fridge goes out again on a Saturday night. Now I call, reopen original issue, now compressor is out and I am told it could take 2 weeks! I'm not sure why not having a fridge is not considered important? So when I call AHS they are like "you just have to wait for the part, no other option!" I asked to speak with a supervisor 4 times. Finally I'm told they will call me back. The supervisor called me back on 10 min, that was a plus! This manager advised of the cash out option whatever repair would cost they could give to me and I could do with it what I need. This pleased me finally cause was going to purchase a fridge that day, couldn't wait! He assured someone would call me the next day with the amount! Still to this day have not received the call back and I have even called a few times... Very frustrated!!!! :( Horrible experience!

Earlier this month our heating system was blowing cold air. AHS sent our Service Contractors of TX and then Bella, when we asked for a 2nd opinion. Both companies stated that nothing was wrong with our heating system. Both said our system was too small for our home, and each said we needed a complete new system. We then called a company on our own. Three of the 4 heating strips were not working and the thermostat was faulty. We feel we were lied to by the AHS companies. Cancel our membership as of 2-28-14. I would never recommend AHS to anyone.

I have an old house (1963). It is in great shape, but as we all know, things go wrong. No matter what time or day it is, when I need AHS, they are there. Any time I have called, I always get a well informed, helpful person. They always are sympathetic to my situation, as if I were one of their family members calling for help. I have used the internet to order a service, which is easy but I'm one who prefers talking to a human. I always receive an email with the company who will be contacting me for the service to set up the date and time. I really like that. It helps to know who I will be dealing with before dealing with them.
I have needed plumbers, electricians and for air/heating and each company has been great. I pay monthly and definitely feel I get my money's worth and then some. I never worry about how many calls, they have never made me feel limited. Even if I had a new home, I would get AHS. No matter how old or new, things go wrong and I am so comforted to know I will always be taken care of. It is a great peace of mind and one less thing I have to worry about. Who knew? I had put in request for service on my gas stove which was answered promptly and the selected appliance repair person visited and quickly determined that my stove was prior to 1994 and that a new stove was warranted. He efficiently contacted Home Shield and I was informed, via e-mail and phone, that same updated version could be obtained. This was all I desired as the model and size fit the bill quite nicely. The stove was delivered and the old one removed without any problems. That was almost 2 yrs ago and the stove has been working beautifully ever since! AHS was recommended to me by my brother who lives in TX. I live in SC and hoped I would receive the same service he did. I have called them on several occasions and received A+customer service. I have had plumbers, someone to repair my refrigerator and an air and heating service call. The people they deal with have been knowledgeable, friendly and prompt.
My last problem was at Christmas time and I received an unexpected call from the plumber late Christmas night. No one is perfect but I had nothing, but the best service from this company and would highly recommend to anyone. I have also never had to pay more than my co-pay, so the customer service persons have always had enough knowledge to evaluate my problem and know if it would be covered by my policy.

Even though the repair was not a covered item, I would expect the technician would have been a little more responsive. He informed me that a part had to be ordered and would take 3-5 business days to come in. His initial visit was Feb 8, by the time he came to install the part, it was Feb 20 and that was only after several calls on my part including a call back to AHS. Even when item is not covered, technicians should still communicate better with customer as if AHS is still monitoring the repair and tracking its completion.

American Home Shield is a product and service that I would never recommend that anyone purchase. I should have taken the credit at closing. It would have been far more beneficial to me and less hassle. We have had problems with our A/C system since we moved into our home in May. Our System failed 3 times over the summer. The contractor they sent out to "repair" the system was a company, that numerous residents, in our area complain about. The last service call, he never fixed the problem. He actually pumped a large quantity of freon into the system, which was not needed, thus potentially damaging the unit. Thankfully, he couldn't get the unit fixed, so we called another company that was able to pump out the overloaded freon before the system had a chance to turn on.
We have had independent contractors (4) determine that we have a system that was installed improperly and needs to be replaced. That is why it was constantly malfunctioning. AHS has asked us to show much documentation regarding this over the past 4 months, only to deny fixing the problem with our system. By the way, I have the supplemental part of the warranty, that includes "improper installations, repairs and modifications". The real-estate agent who sold the warranty at closing said that she would never use this company again.

I am appalled that AHS will not fix my unit properly because of an A/C company putting old no longer used refrigerant in my unit - which I had no knowledge had been done. The response was quick - we had an appointment the next day. They thought that it was fixed, the sensors were replaced and that was good. It didn't solve the problem and they came back twice and bolted the sensor to the frame of the door rail and that solved it. They were nice.

My furnace was not working at a time when the temperatures were dropping into the 20's. I called AHS and a technician was sent out to do the repair. The furnace worked for a couple of days and then stopped working again. I called the technician that came out for the first repair and he said you will have to call AHS back and schedule another appointment. He also said, "The appointment must be within the next couple of days because I am going on vacation." I called AHS to let them know I needed another service call, but it needed to be within the next several days. AHS made sure I got the appointment before the technician went on vacation.

When we moved into our house we had to call AHS after the first hour. Our furnace broke and it was 20 outside. They didn't even have us in their system yet but still sent someone out the next morning to fix our furnace. We have also called them for a plumbing issue. I came home during a record cold snap and although I had electricity in some parts of the house, I had no heat or electricity in other areas. I assumed it was a fuse and tried to fix it myself, it wasn't a fuse! I got online and completed an AHSW Service request and within 24 hrs had 2 vendors setup to come to the house. Both times it was a Sunday (of course) and both times a reputable plumbing company (DS Plumbing) called us almost immediately to see if they could come right now, or set a appt. In both cases we were able to turn the water off so it wasn't an emergency but they came the very next day. EXCELLENT service. We used AHS on-line request for service and it worked flawlessly. The techs were great. Accurate and efficient. However, the office worker was far from being an asset to the company. She did not let us know that our service "window" would be cancelled. A day was lost from work. Also, we were again forgotten as another service "window" was slammed shut for a last minute truck inspection. Another 3 hours wasted. If my daughter had not called 2 hours into the waiting we would not have known at all. Without details, the female at the office was extremely abrasive on the phone. I will not stand for this type of treatment. If this is the type of organization that works for you, then maybe I need to look elsewhere for coverage.

I purchased my home in October 2012 and asked for a home warranty as part of my closing costs. It turned out to be the best decision I could have made as I am getting back on my feet after a divorce and am self supporting. My budget is pretty tight and does not have room for excessive home repairs. During the first year of home ownership I had multiple times I needed the services of American Home Shield. And each time they came through with no hassles or problems. I even feared that they would not renew my contract for the second year since I had to use their services so many times that first year. But it turned out I had no need to worry... they renewed my contract and even allowed me to add more coverage for some appliances and water softener. American Home Shield was a lifesaver (and budget stretcher) for me and I would recommend them to anyone.

Called for heat pump repair company. I was told would contact me, didn't. I called them. They fixed it and it stopped working again overnight. I called next morning. When they called back they couldn't get to me until next day. Another night without heat. Next day I had to call them again around noon. Tech admitted "forgetting" about me. Fixed it again... was same problem. Wasn't fixed right 1st time. "A wire was in wrong place." 2 nights with heat now and so far so good.

Only a period of several months our hot water became less and less until it was only warm. We contacted American Home Shield and reported the problem. The next day a repairman came and decided that we needed a new element and heater unit. He quickly did the swap and we thought we had the problem licked. However that did not fix the problem. Again we reported to AHS that we still had little to no hot water. A repair man was dispatch and he braved snow and ice covered roads to bring a whole new heater. I am not sure what the problem really was but I do know that now I have HOT water. The company that did the repairs, Brothers Plumbing and Air, were very professional and AHS stay with me until the problem was resolved. Thank AHS.

Most of the work I've had done from you guys has been on my heat pumps with only a couple of times for a commode. I have to be honest and say that I actually saw a cousin of mine on FB saying negative things about AHS but I have nothing but very positive experiences from anyone that you have sent to my house. I'm certainly glad that I didn't get whoever has been coming to her house. But always the people have come on time, been VERY professional and I've never had to have anyone come back for the reason that they came the first time around. Unfortunately I've had repeat trips for the heat pumps but it's always been something new and normally many months between visits.

I have requested for a dishwasher repair from AHS for 5 times in the last 5 years. The repair person sent to our house replaced a few parts but could never fix the problem fully. The same repair person was sent each time. The money spent on the repairs could have been spent on a new machine. I have used the best detergents, rinse aid and even dishwasher liquid gels to ensure that the dishwasher remains clean. I have come to know that they never replace your appliances, but will only repair the best they can. There is no guarantee that it will not break after a month, in which case you will need pay the service charges once again. Also, the word of the contractor is weighed more than their customers. Overall, I am very disappointed with the quality of service. I will not renew my contract. Also, most of the commonly failing components are outside the contract and will not be covered by the insurance.

I am happy with the service. However, I thought paying a service fee for both my washing machine and dryer was excessive. The technician only provided a diagnosis for the dryer. He said they did not do the type of work to really fix the problem. However, I still was required to pay the $75 service fee. I could understand if the dryer was really fixed.

I have a heating/cooling unit. The heating unit is in the attic, the cooling unit is outside. On one of our coldest weeks my heating unit did not work. I called a "specialist" who was running a special. They came out & announced that my unit was obsolete & I would have to replace both units! I then remembered I had AHS, I called them, they came out (Austin Plumbing & Heating) fixed the problem and all is working fine! (Thereby saving me thousands of dollars).

Jason came out and recommended replacement of the motor. I had other companies come out (not with AHS) and they replaced the thermostat and nothing changed. Not only did the replacement work properly, but Jason was such a happy fellow. He proceeded to tell us that we all need PMA (Positive Mental Attitude). Technician was sent out to my home from Sears Home Care Services. Andrew told me that the agitator was out on my washer, and he ordered a new one. Informed me that he would be back on February 7th to install the new agitator and never returned, and did not respond to my repeated phone calls. I called AHS and was told that "unfortunately there was nothing that they could do! We have no control over a contractor's scheduling!" I was thoroughly disappointed in hearing this because AHS has contracts with these individuals/companies to service their clients; therefore, they are ultimately responsible for the actions of the contractors.
I called another company in Baton Rouge to come out and install the new agitator, and was told that it was not the agitator, but the transmission on the washer was going out. He was very honest and guided me in making the right decision regarding not spending money on repairing the washer because it would not be worth it to spend that kind of money ($295.00) on a machine that was 16 years old. He, as well as myself, was very disappointed that the problem was misdiagnosed, and worst yet, that AHS did not offer any support - financial or otherwise - to me as one of their customers.
I purchased a new Admiral washer last Friday at a cost of $343.14 and it was delivered and installed on Wednesday, February 19th without any delays or problems. The technicians were very professional, courteous, and respectable. On February 7th, I missed a half day's work because I left early to be at home when Andrew (technician from Sears) was supposed to return to my home. In that incident, I suffered lost wages.
Additionally, the electrician (Ben's Electrical Service) has not been back to repair the lights in the utility room, the ceiling fan, or the light that is out in my Master Bathroom (Tub Area). He has made several promises to call/come out to finish the work, and has not made good on either one. I purchased the fixtures for the utility room almost a month ago. I'm having to take showers/baths in the dark because he has not come out to do the repairs. If his workload is overwhelming, at least he could have been honest about the situation and not keep stringing me along, and lying about coming/not coming out.
I have never been so disappointed in all of my life with the quality/lack of quality in the individuals that AHS hired as contractors assigned to come in and do the requested repairs. Not to mention, the lack of concern exhibited by your customer service representatives. It appears as though as long as AHS is receiving the $48.67 that I pay every month for the Home Warranty Service, that's all that matters. As a customer, I feel like when I needed to utilize the services of AHS, I have been totally ignored, abused, and my repairs were neglected. I brought my business to AHS because you all were highly recommended by several friends and family members. They too are thoroughly disappointed in the events that I have had to endure in the past month, and are considering cancelling their services with AHS.

Rep courteous and apologetic; however, once this was cleared and the date arrived, the rep did a quick inspection and determined needed to be replace. He advised on when he would returned to replace. My first experience with American Home Shield was very good. I was pleased and surprised. I had a toilet that was running and nothing I did would stop it. I was afraid of an overflow when I went out of town. I called and explained my situation to the customer service rep and they got someone out the very next day, before I had to leave on a trip. On December 28, 2013 we arrived late to our home from a Family Christmas Party and realized our Hot Water Heater was not working. Sunday 29th we called American Home shield and they said they would have a tech out first thing on Monday morning the 30th. We were fine with this. We could shower at Grandma's or where we currently go to the Gym.
Well things worsen as the time went by (24 hrs). By the end of Sunday we realized our 4 yr old daughter and mom have strep throat along with ear infections.Things got really bad from here. Monday early AM our daughter throws up in our bed and on herself, mom has no energy due to the strep throat and ear infections, she's fighting as well. She gains enough strength to strip the sheets in our room and boil some water (hence - no hot water) to clean our very sick child.
In the mean time I reassure mom that AHS is going to have a tech at the house by 8 AM. Mom is concerned of strep spreading due to the sheets and PJS along with anything that had been vomited on laying in the laundry room - due to not being able to wash because of the hot water situation. Mind you mom is very sick too. I reassure her again that AHS will have a tech at our house by 8 AM.
Guess what? The tech showed up at 8 AM and worked continuous knowing the situation in our household. He had a new hot water heater installed by 1 PM and we had hot water for baths and laundry within an hour of the install. We were very appreciative of the quick response of AHS and the tech. It was a difficult 24 hours but I knew I could count on AHS and they proved me right once again. Thank you for the help on that Monday from Hell. It was like you sent an angel to our home and within a little time we were in heaven again.

We called American Home Shield when our AC was not cooling; our Fridge was not cooling; our bathtub faucet was broke, etc. On each of these calls, we were assigned a contractor right away and the contractors responded and fixed the problem in less than 48 hours except for the compressor which had to be replaced. And they impressively ordered and replaced our compressor in less than 1 week. AHS request a feedback on the performance of every contractor they sent to us for repair thus able to track and hold the contractors accountable. No wonder the companies AHS contracts with, have very knowledgeable professional service team. We strongly recommend AHS without any reservation!

Something broke on the furnace, and they came the very next morning and fixed it in the worst time of the winter when it was very cold. We didn't have to wait days, we get serviced fast.

Although my problem wasn't as difficult to fix, the electrician that came was polite, quick and explained what he did and what was the cause of the problem. No hot water on Tuesday. Called AHS and was told that someone would contact us within 24 hours. When we didn't hear from the plumber by Thursday we called him only to be told that they MIGHT be able to service us by the following Monday or Tuesday. Called AHS and were told that was the ONLY plumber they have in their service. This is a family with children and hot water is an EMERGENCY. The contact person at AHS suggested we get our own plumber to install a water heater and send the bill to AHS. I can't wait to see how that turns out! If we can't get service I have little faith that we'll see a reimbursement.
Everything else aside, we actually will have to go into debt for this because we don't have that kind of money on hand. We canceled an AHS policy in another home for just this reason, but that was in Maryland, so we thought it might be different in Florida. Looks like this is a fly-by-night operation. BEWARE before you sign a contract.

Had several occasions for plumbing repairs in the past few months: one a broken drain pipe and one a leaking garbage disposal. Technician's spend time to troubleshoot and find more problems of our dishwasher than we already know and they fixed all the problems in such professional manners even our college children was impressed. The company that was sent out to check the heating unit failed to repair the problem. They were here in December and looked at the unit saying they would return to correct the repairs when the weather was better. We were told that we had to run the unit on emergency heat until they returned because on regular heat the A/C unit also comes on. It still does. They came back a couple of weeks ago to finish and did nothing. We're still having to use emergency heat for heating.

Water heater was leaking and replaced. I had no complaint with American Shield. My problems were with the plumbing co. DNB Services. The state code had been changed since my house was built 20 yrs ago and I understood that I had to pay for a new drip pan and a 2nd outside drain. The charge was $250. I thought this was excessive and upon checking with others that had to do it and hardware store and plumbers, my thoughts were confirmed. However I needed a water heater and DNB would not do it unless I agreed to let them do the work. They also said the roof vent hole needed to be enlarged by 1/2" on each and would be another $50.
I would have to get a roofer to come and seal the hole they made another $75. As they did not do that and if that roofer did not come while they were there I must sign a release that excused them from any water damage even if I had the work done the next day. Which I did. After they got there they wanted an additional dollar amount for the drip pan. The replacement was done in a professional way, water heater is working but extra just kept coming at, I think, too much.
I had previously had DNB out last June to put new insides in a toilet. After 2 visits it was still not working properly but after complaining again they agreed to come look at it and if It was their fault fix it at no cost to me. They did. It had not been installed properly in the first place. Because of this I let them come see about the water heater. I do not want to deal with them again. They have lots of other complaints on their web page. I am sure American Shield has other plumbers that will not be such a hassle to deal with. They left no info on the new heater and it is not a name I ever heard of. Hope it proves satisfactory.

We had problems on the coldest night in February with our heat pump. It stopped working at about 9:00 p.m. I called AHS!! After being helped with a friendly customer service agent, I was told to turn on emergency heat, and a service person would call us with 24 hours. The next morning we received call from Brian's Mechanical, And within 3 hours we were back to normal with heat and repaired heat pump! We are sure glad we had AHS, and service was awesome!

My heater thermostat was replaced quickly and efficiently by a knowledgeable service man. He very carefully explained how the thermostat was to be turned on and off. He took care in his work and placed the new thermostat so that it looked well and well as operated perfectly. My water heater failed to stay lit. Service technicians visited 3 times, once to clear a line and twice to relight the burner. The second technician to visit explained the process of diagnosing and he remedying the problem. It was determined that a new water heater was need. Follow up on the warranty of the heater was done to determine which parts where covered and when that was done an appointment was made to replace the water heater. The water heater was replaced neatly and efficiently.

AHS has been true to their promise ever since we signed up last November. We've had their representatives to our home to repair our heater on a cold, wet day with no complaints and immediate results, for which we were quite grateful, since it was one of the coldest days we've encountered in the "sunny" south this winter. We've also called them to repair leaks in several of our faucets, and to make sure our hot water heater was working properly. The third call was to get our oven working again. In each case, the repairmen were courteous and knowledgeable. We could not be happier with AHS and the service they provide. We finally have some peace of mind with regard to our aging home and appliances!

The last Ace Garage repair service man sent out I felt he thought because I was a woman that my mechanical knowledge was limited and that he could mislead me on needed service on the amount of tension on the belt after he replaced a Teflon wheel in the motor when all that was needed was a (adjustment of the belt) and the spring that need adjustment because the door was heavy by the way it would cost me $175.00 to $185.00 to have it adjusted. The last repair person didn't comment after he inspected the garage opener or door about additional costs our repairs needed. By the way so far my garage door is working fine.

While washing dishes I could hear drops of water under the sink. I looked and there was water coming from the bottom of the disposal. I called AHS and the plumber returned the call, came to my home and replaced the unit with a new one from an unopened box.

I was lied to. Given false information. I thought I had carbon monoxide coming from my heating unit. Your man came and all he did was take front off heater turn thermostat up to see if it came on. Then turned it off. Told me I had a smoke alarm and that would detect any carbon monoxide, that is not true! Then said how to write bill so I would not be billed again.

My Overall experience with American Home Shield has been a god-send. It is truly a huge benefit to have such a service available to consumers who have little to no experience with appliances, plumbing and many other services offered. It offers one less thing to stress over as you know someone professional and knowledgeable will be at your aid to assist you. And if you are not 100% satisfied for whatever reason, they are eager to appease the problem. I have recommended AHS to others. And I plan to keep the service as long as I have a home.

Have had home shield for over a year now. A/C broke down last summer and the contractor came the same day I called and had the problem fixed. Heater broke last month and a heat exchanger had to be ordered. Took 6 days for the part to be in but the contractor was prompt and very knowledgeable. So far great experience with American Home Shield.

In January, I created a Service Request to fix a faucet in the master bathroom. MSE Plumbing came and looked at it and said that they need to come back. While they were there, they suggested we add a toilet problem to the work order. I called AHS and asked for the service to be paired with the faucet work order and the AHS representative confirmed that it was done. I called MSE and confirmed that they got the work order. I forgot the date, but it was late January/early February. During that time, we were waiting on a part from Kohler for the faucet.
We eventually received the faucet part from Kohler and scheduled the visit with MSE to fix the faucet. At the same time, I confirmed with them that they were going to fix the toilet as part of the same work order. They arrived at the house, fixed the faucet, and told my wife that they don't have the work order for the toilet. While the MSE plumber was at the house, I called the MSE business line and conference called AHS. While on a 3-way call with MSE and AHS, the toilet work order was found and confirmed that it was paired with the faucet work order.
I was on the call with Ruth from MSE and she can confirm this. Ruth asked the AHS rep to send her the work order and she'll get it and text the plumber with it. We all said thank you and goodbyes and hung up. A few minutes later, my wife tells me that the MSE plumber left without fixing the toilet because the work order never came through from AHS!
I called AHS this morning and the call center person said that I couldn't join work orders. She gave me a voicemail to a supervisor and I left him a voicemail. This is a confusing mess for a $75 work order. I'm an extremely unhappy customer. This is a rental property and I have limited time to meet plumbers at the house during business hours. I'm expecting the work order to be completed without an additional deductible fee.

I've been with AHS for quite a while and have happily renewed my contract year after year. The cost is reasonable considering the items that have been replaced or repaired in my house. For instance: the motor on my new dish washer went out. I say new but it was one week past the warranty. AHS sent a repairman the next day and had the dishwasher repaired in two days. I've had my A/C, my washer and dryer, garage door opener, ice maker and refrigerator seals etc. etc. repaired or replaced throughout the years. I will renew again and again and I tell everyone they can't afford NOT to have the coverage. It's saved me thousands of dollars.

Purchased the home warranty from AHS on the advice of my realtor.... and it has been well worth the cost. Unfortunately I've needed their services 3 times already but haven't paid more than my deductible. I've not had any issues and will renew my warranty when the time comes.
