    The techs were great. Accurate and efficient. However, the office worker was far from being an asset to the company. She did not let us know that our service "window" would be cancelled. A day was lost from work. Also, we were again forgotten as another service "window" was slammed shut for a last minute truck inspection. Another 3 hours wasted. If my daughter had not called 2 hours into the waiting we would not have known at all. Without details, the female at the office was extremely abrasive on the phone. I will not stand for this type of treatment. If this is the type of organization that works for you, then maybe I need to look elsewhere for coverage.

    I purchased my home in October 2012 and asked for a home warranty as part of my closing costs. It turned out to be the best decision I could have made as I am getting back on my feet after a divorce and am self supporting. My budget is pretty tight and does not have room for excessive home repairs. During the first year of home ownership I had multiple times I needed the services of American Home Shield. And each time they came through with no hassles or problems. I even feared that they would not renew my contract for the second year since I had to use their services so many times that first year. But it turned out I had no need to worry... they renewed my contract and even allowed me to add more coverage for some appliances and water softener.     Called for heat pump repair company. I was told would contact me, didn't. I called them. They fixed it and it stopped working again overnight. I called next morning. When they called back they couldn't get to me until next day. Another night without heat. Next day I had to call them again around noon. Tech admitted "forgetting" about me. Fixed it again... was same problem. Wasn't fixed right 1st time. "A wire was in wrong place." 2 nights with heat now and so far so good.

    I love American home shield. They are the best when it comes to service. My home is 10 years old and it seems that all of a sudden everything was falling apart.     Only a period of several months our hot water became less and less until it was only warm. We contacted American Home Shield and reported the problem. The next day a repairman came and decided that we needed a new element and heater unit. He quickly did the swap and we thought we had the problem licked. However that did not fix the problem. Again we reported to AHS that we still had little to no hot water. A repair man was dispatch and he braved snow and ice covered roads to bring a whole new heater. I am not sure what the problem really was but I do know that now I have HOT water. The company that did the repairs, Brothers Plumbing and Air, were very professional and AHS stay with me until the problem was resolved. Thank AHS.

    Most of the work I've had done from you guys has been on my heat pumps with only a couple of times for a commode. I have to be honest and say that I actually saw a cousin of mine on FB saying negative things about AHS but I have nothing but very positive experiences from anyone that you have sent to my house. I'm certainly glad that I didn't get whoever has been coming to her house.     I have requested for a dishwasher repair from AHS for 5 times in the last 5 years. The repair person sent to our house replaced a few parts but could never fix the problem fully. The same repair person was sent each time. The money spent on the repairs could have been spent on a new machine. I have used the best detergents, rinse aid and even dishwasher liquid gels to ensure that the dishwasher remains clean. I have come to know that they never replace your appliances, but will only repair the best they can. There is no guarantee that it will not break after a month, in which case you will need pay the service charges once again. Also, the word of the contractor is weighed more than their customers. Overall, I am very disappointed with the quality of service. I will not renew my contract. Also, most of the commonly failing components are outside the contract and will not be covered by the insurance.

    I have a heating/cooling unit. The heating unit is in the attic, the cooling unit is outside. On one of our coldest weeks my heating unit did not work.     Technician was sent out to my home from Sears Home Care Services. Andrew told me that the agitator was out on my washer, and he ordered a new one. Informed me that he would be back on February 7th to install the new agitator and never returned, and did not respond to my repeated phone calls. I called AHS and was told that "unfortunately there was nothing that they could do! We have no control over a contractor's scheduling!" I was thoroughly disappointed in hearing this because AHS has contracts with these individuals/companies to service their clients; therefore, they are ultimately responsible for the actions of the contractors.

    I called another company in Baton Rouge to come out and install the new agitator, and was told that it was not the agitator, but the transmission on the washer was going out. He was very honest and guided me in making the right decision regarding not spending money on repairing the washer because it would not be worth it to spend that kind of money ($295.00) on a machine that was 16 years old. He, as well as myself, was very disappointed that the problem was misdiagnosed, and worst yet, that AHS did not offer any support - financial or otherwise - to me as one of their customers.

    I purchased a new Admiral washer last Friday at a cost of $343.14 and it was delivered and installed on Wednesday, February 19th without any delays or problems. The technicians were very professional, courteous, and respectable. On February 7th, I missed a half day's work because I left early to be at home when Andrew (technician from Sears) was supposed to return to my home. In that incident, I suffered lost wages.

    Additionally, the electrician (Ben's Electrical Service) has not been back to repair the lights in the utility room, the ceiling fan, or the light that is out in my Master Bathroom (Tub Area). He has made several promises to call/come out to finish the work, and has not made good on either one. I purchased the fixtures for the utility room almost a month ago. I'm having to take showers/baths in the dark because he has not come out to do the repairs. If his workload is overwhelming, at least he could have been honest about the situation and not keep stringing me along, and lying about coming/not coming out.

    I have never been so disappointed in all of my life with the quality/lack of quality in the individuals that AHS hired as contractors assigned to come in and do the requested repairs. Not to mention, the lack of concern exhibited by your customer service representatives. It appears as though as long as AHS is receiving the $48.67 that I pay every month for the Home Warranty Service, that's all that matters. As a customer, I feel like when I needed to utilize the services of AHS, I have been totally ignored, abused, and my repairs were neglected. I brought my business to AHS because you all were highly recommended by several friends and family members. They too are thoroughly disappointed in the events that I have had to endure in the past month, and are considering cancelling their services with AHS.

    On December 28, 2013 we arrived late to our home from a Family Christmas Party and realized our Hot Water Heater was not working. Sunday 29th we called American Home shield and they said they would have a tech out first thing on Monday morning the 30th. We were fine with this. We could shower at Grandma's or where we currently go to the Gym.

    Well things worsen as the time went by (24 hrs). By the end of Sunday we realized our 4 yr old daughter and mom have strep throat along with ear infections.Things got really bad from here. Monday early AM our daughter throws up in our bed and on herself, mom has no energy due to the strep throat and ear infections, she's fighting as well. She gains enough strength to strip the sheets in our room and boil some water (hence - no hot water) to clean our very sick child.

    In the mean time I reassure mom that AHS is going to have a tech at the house by 8 AM. Mom is concerned of strep spreading due to the sheets and PJS along with anything that had been vomited on laying in the laundry room - due to not being able to wash because of the hot water situation. Mind you mom is very sick too. I reassure her again that AHS will have a tech at our house by 8 AM.

    Guess what? The tech showed up at 8 AM and worked continuous knowing the situation in our household. He had a new hot water heater installed by 1 PM and we had hot water for baths and laundry within an hour of the install. We were very appreciative of the quick response of AHS and the tech. It was a difficult 24 hours but I knew I could count on AHS and they proved me right once again. Thank you for the help on that Monday from Hell. It was like you sent an angel to our home and within a little time we were in heaven again.

    No hot water on Tuesday. Called AHS and was told that someone would contact us within 24 hours. When we didn't hear from the plumber by Thursday we called him only to be told that they MIGHT be able to service us by the following Monday or Tuesday. Called AHS and were told that was the ONLY plumber they have in their service. This is a family with children and hot water is an EMERGENCY. The contact person at AHS suggested we get our own plumber to install a water heater and send the bill to AHS. I can't wait to see how that turns out! If we can't get service I have little faith that we'll see a reimbursement.

    Everything else aside, we actually will have to go into debt for this because we don't have that kind of money on hand. We canceled an AHS policy in another home for just this reason, but that was in Maryland, so we thought it might be different in Florida. Looks like this is a fly-by-night operation. BEWARE before you sign a contract.

    The company that was sent out to check the heating unit failed to repair the problem. They were here in December and looked at the unit saying they would return to correct the repairs when the weather was better. We were told that we had to run the unit on emergency heat until they returned because on regular heat the A/C unit also comes on. It still does.     Water heater was leaking and replaced. I had no complaint with American Shield. My problems were with the plumbing co. DNB Services. The state code had been changed since my house was built 20 yrs ago and I understood that I had to pay for a new drip pan and a 2nd outside drain. The charge was $250. I thought this was excessive and upon checking with others that had to do it and hardware store and plumbers, my thoughts were confirmed. However I needed a water heater and DNB would not do it unless I agreed to let them do the work. They also said the roof vent hole needed to be enlarged by 1/2" on each and would be another $50.

    I would have to get a roofer to come and seal the hole they made another $75. As they did not do that and if that roofer did not come while they were there I must sign a release that excused them from any water damage even if I had the work done the next day. Which I did. After they got there they wanted an additional dollar amount for the drip pan. The replacement was done in a professional way, water heater is working but extra just kept coming at, I think, too much.

    I had previously had DNB out last June to put new insides in a toilet. After 2 visits it was still not working properly but after complaining again they agreed to come look at it and if It was their fault fix it at no cost to me. They did. It had not been installed properly in the first place. Because of this I let them come see about the water heater. I do not want to deal with them again. They have lots of other complaints on their web page. I am sure American Shield has other plumbers that will not be such a hassle to deal with. They left no info on the new heater and it is not a name I ever heard of. Hope it proves satisfactory.

    In January, I created a Service Request to fix a faucet in the master bathroom. MSE Plumbing came and looked at it and said that they need to come back. While they were there, they suggested we add a toilet problem to the work order. I called AHS and asked for the service to be paired with the faucet work order and the AHS representative confirmed that it was done. I called MSE and confirmed that they got the work order. I forgot the date, but it was late January/early February. During that time, we were waiting on a part from Kohler for the faucet.

    We eventually received the faucet part from Kohler and scheduled the visit with MSE to fix the faucet. At the same time, I confirmed with them that they were going to fix the toilet as part of the same work order. They arrived at the house, fixed the faucet, and told my wife that they don't have the work order for the toilet. While the MSE plumber was at the house, I called the MSE business line and conference called AHS. While on a 3-way call with MSE and AHS, the toilet work order was found and confirmed that it was paired with the faucet work order.

    I was on the call with Ruth from MSE and she can confirm this. Ruth asked the AHS rep to send her the work order and she'll get it and text the plumber with it. We all said thank you and goodbyes and hung up. A few minutes later, my wife tells me that the MSE plumber left without fixing the toilet because the work order never came through from AHS!

    I called AHS this morning and the call center person said that I couldn't join work orders. She gave me a voicemail to a supervisor and I left him a voicemail. This is a confusing mess for a $75 work order. I'm an extremely unhappy customer. This is a rental property and I have limited time to meet plumbers at the house during business hours. I'm expecting the work order to be completed without an additional deductible fee.

    We hadn't been in our new house a month when we saw that our toilet was leaking and that it hadn't been secured as it was rocking. We called AHS and they got a plumber in touch with us right away. He came within 48 hours (there was terrible snowstorms here) and showed us why the toilet was leaking (because someone had installed it wrong & smashing it, with the wrong size wax ring; and finally it was never fastened down right). He fixed everything, telling us exactly what he had done to correct the problem. It hasn't leaked since. As my husband is handicapped there are some things that he cannot do. I was so relieved to have this service as it is an older house. But I feel I would want this in any house I own: new houses have problems too!

    AHS sent out the same plumber a few weeks later as there was a leak in the kitchen sink drain. Again, someone had put in the wrong sized drain pipe and water was spilling everywhere under the sink. He showed us and put in the correct sized pipe and drain, fortunately before damage was done to the new cabinetry. Things can look good, but you know, neither my husband nor I know what to look for. Fortunately AHS has some very fine people working for them and they do! And both incidents took only part of an afternoon to fix.

January: AHS informs me that they could not debit my ckg account; I talked to someone at AHS who took the new number for the account (new in December) and the billing proceeded correctly. February: AHS informs me that could debit my ckg account, despite the fact that the payment went through correctly in January. I call the AHS customer service number on Feb. 10, give my number again to them, and the operator says the billing will occur at midnight.

Feb. 18 I use the email address listed on the AHS website to submit my problem in need of resolution, and there still hasn't been any response to the email. Feb. 20: I again call the customer service number, and the person there takes the account number info, and promises that there will be a deduction in the next 24 to 48 hours. We'll see!!

    I purchased the AHS preventative maintenance contract for my air conditioning in July 2013. I was told I would be called soon by Morgan Air Conditioning, Lutz, Florida. They never called. I Called them in September and had to leave a message and they never called back. I called AHS and ask them to schedule one of my 2 preventative maintenance checkups that I was entitled to get. I soon was scheduled with Morgan Air. They checked my system and they said all was functioning well. The only problem was according to them, my air conditioning system had too much mold on it and AHS would not pay if anything malfunctioned. I was made to feel like I had to spend $1149.18 to buy a biocide light to get rid of the bacteria. I paid it and had it installed on the spot. Then checked with a friend that had been in the air conditioning business and he said I had been scammed. I called Morgan Air and the installer said he couldn't remove the biocide light now because wires had been cut and it couldn't be reused. Although unhappy, I felt like I had no choice but to keep it. Unemployed and living off of social security at the time made the $1100 very difficult. I am a long time customer of AHS.

    E-mailed AHS the week of January 22, 2014 to report faucet leaking in kitchen sink. A plumbing company, Lindsey, call and set an appoint for Monday, JANUARY 27, 2014. The plumber from Lindsey Plumbing arrived on that date. He said he would have to order the part and would come back and install it. The next week FEBRUARY 4, 2014, I had not hear back from the plumbing company. I called them and talk to a young female that answered the telephone, and asked if the part had come in, she put me on hold and went to look. When she got back on line she told me the part was not in but would check on it and call me to set up an appointment when it was delivered.

    The next week, week of FEBRUARY 11, 2014, I again called the plumbing company to see why my faucet was not fixed. This time the young lady told me that the company they had ordered the part from was the wrong part. That they had reordered the part again. I then sent an e-mail to AHS to see if they could use some leverage to get my sink back where we could use it. Did not hear from AHS, but on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2014, Lindsey Plumbing called and set up a follow up appointment for TUESDAY, 2/18/2014, to fix the faucet. The same serviceman came on 2/18/14, that had came the first time. He said he did not know why his company had sent him back since he still did not have the right part. He showed us the part they had given him at the shop and he said that will not work. The company sent him anyway knowing he did not have the part.

    The serviceman is very nice and has never charged us. He said said he only collects when repairs are finished. This is getting very irritating and still for a month now, unable to use the kitchen sink. Also until last Sunday, 2/16/14, Lindsey Co. Has never called me as to the delay or when we may expect this problem to be fixed. I have called and called them week after week and still waiting for the repair. Please get this fixed. I used AHS this week for our dishwasher. HotShot Appliance came out the next day and fixed the dishwasher. PLEASE HELP.     I find that having a home warranty is that covered repairs are quickly responded to by vetted service providers and I don't have to search for them myself.     The heat was not working. The tech had been here previously to repair it. It was within less than 3 weeks when we noticed we were not getting the warmth that we had a few days earlier. I called AHS and right away they set everything up for us and the tech called us the very next morning and scheduled with us a time to come out that day.     The cable on our garage door snapped off the coil and caused the door to stick and not open completely. The repair co, Cactus Garage Doors came to repair the door. We were told that our warranty does not cover the spring and that the cost to repair it would be $130 (service call less $75) plus $205 to replace the spring. We ended up paying $205 for this call. I called another garage door company we had used in the past and their quote for the same repair was $130 total cost of the spring and repair. I am not happy that we had to work with a company that charged $75 to do the same job.

Under the terms of that policy, we have had the dishwasher and microwave serviced, the furnace replaced, and the hot water heater serviced.     After several weeks of phone calls to Customer Relations and speaking to Tyneshia, Will, Karen, Tomeka, and Aretha (none of whom returned calls as promised), all they could tell me was your technical (?) department said that they considered a replaced garbage disposal's CAPACITY was based on the horsepower of the unit, not on the size even though the unit that was installed was much smaller in size and could not handle as much food as the unit that was replaced. In trying to reason with your people, I asked if you replaced a 5-ton AC unit with a 3-ton unit that had the same size motor, would you consider that as the same CAPACITY? AHS's final answer was they considered only the horsepower as being EQUAL in CAPACITY, and AHS denied my reasoning & request to replace the unit with a unit of THE SAME SIZE that they took out. At that point, I told AHS that I would not renew my contract and you were losing a customer who had been with you for 17 YEARS!

    AHS is absolutely terrible. It may be a complete scam too. They never actually fix any of the problems. Every time a repairman comes, I pay the $75 service fee and then they report no issues back to AHS. I suspect their service contractors are incentivized by AHS to report back that nothing is broken or that appliances are functioning normally even when they aren't so AHS won't have to repair anything. They pretended to fix my range but it was clearly not working properly. They claimed Viking products are simply that way and there is nothing they can do. I have asked to speak with a supervisor and/or manager and they have consistently put me on hold for 20 minutes at a time. Supervisors never call back and the whole experience with them has been abysmal. Terrible service!! I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

    I have 3 properties covered with AHS. I have always been pleased with them. If I did have a problem with them (repairmen they sent out, etc.) they took care of it promptly. I just had a washer that couldn't be repaired and they replaced it quickly. I also had an AC that couldn't be repaired & they paid $$ toward a new replacement. I would recommend them. I only have one complaint, they use Sears now & you can't schedule a repair as quickly with them. You can choose another company to come out sooner, but Sears doesn't put AHS customers in front of their customers, so longer wait time. Sometimes a much longer wait time depending on appliance and season time.

    I had no problems using the automated system to create a service call. My problems started afterwards. Universal Plumbing seems to leave all warranty work for last. The "first" appointment they had was in two or three days. Universal had changed the water heater in the past but when the techs came out, they had to "check" the system out and then order a heater. Then it was another four days until I could get another appointment for the install. The techs were great, it's the company that is lacking. Please review and try not to send them out to me again.     AHS has been great about sending contractors out and getting things fixed in a timely manner. They have NOT been great about responding to customer service request when I had issues AFTER the repair. I requested someone from AHS contact me on several occasions but I never heard from anyone. For example my dishwasher does not clean my dishes. They sent contractor out who said it was my dishes or soap. I paid for 2 service calls. I emailed c/s to discuss that my dishes were not cleaned. I finally called in and requested a different contractor be sent out. They determined that the dishwasher is not draining because the line was not ran correctly. MY dishwasher is still not cleaning and had black mold on the bottom. Picture is uploaded.

    Late last year we had a sewer backing up, and you sent out two different people to work on it to no success. The problem wasn't inside the house which they worked on in the bathroom, it was working fine. The problem was under the house and in the line out to the alley. I was told since they hadn't fixed it I could call anyone I could find. I called Kelley's septic tank and sewer service and they fixed it first time.     One of the commodes should have had the plunger replaced and the chain inside keeps coming off things that didn't happen before. The hot water heater screams and we were told that was normal, funny it didn't do it before. We spoke to the electrician while he was here explaining that the starters he replaced were very noisy and we needed them changed out. We have also called him and reminded him. Still no return visit. He put in a light in the kitchen and one of the fluorescent bulbs comes on and off... Perhaps its in the wiring. The ice maker was corrected so far after their second visit to align the gears.

    I've had to call A.H.S. twice recently. The first time was for my high end oven that stopped heating almost exactly to the day the manufacturer's warranty expired and the second for my dryer. The first technicians weren't familiar with the brand so AHS sent some different techs out a couple of days later, they got on the phone with a representative of the manufacturer and together determined the problem and solution. It took a week for the parts to arrive so about two weeks after going kaput they had the oven working and I've had no problems with it since.

    My dryer started making this awful screeching sound and Joel, one of the guys who worked on the oven came out. After the first ordeal Joel seemed like an old buddy that I shared a war story with (kind of). He quickly determined the cause of noise and had the replacement part on his truck, it took 45 minutes from start to finish. In conclusion, the money I saved on the oven repair paid for the insurance. Did I mention I put in the work order online on my tablet? I am completely satisfied with A.H.S. and would highly recommend them to my fellow homeowners.

    My A/C and heating unit are original to my now 20 year old home. I had to call AHS several times over the years to work on it for one thing or another. But a couple of years ago, one of their service company techs figured out that we needed to upgrade the capacity in the electrical system, plus a pinhole leak was discovered in the outside unit, which was causing a Freon bleed off. We were able to take care of these important finds and so far, absolutely no more problems. We'll eventually need to replace the units, but thanks to AHS, our 20 year old units are working beautifully and every year is another blessing.

    Dripping faucet in the bath room. I thought that this was covered. But when the technician came, he told me that he had checked and it was not covered. He then explained that he could repair it for a charge. I appreciate the honesty of this technician.

    In 2013 - my dishwasher was not draining. It took over 3 months, 3 different companies and minimum of 10 trips to my house to try to find the problem before the right mechanic finally came out and repaired it. Also - December of 2013 I called for service on my central heater. ** came out and said my wires were burned because the pilot on the heater was way too high and needed a part etc. He said it could have caused a fire. He got the heater working, but he said that he still needed a part and to talk to someone about what he could do to complete the repair and am still waiting after 2 months.

    Sure hope my house does catch fire. These repairs should not take months to complete. I have been with AHS for over 26 years. Yes, I said 26 years. Service was never this bad before. Having problems the last couple of years. I am very disappointed at how long these repairs are taking to complete. Totally unnecessary.
