The fan was running in the heating system, but there was no heat. The first time I submitted the claim with American Home Shield, it was over the phone. It was fine and I cancelled it because it appeared as though the heating system worked. Then I submitted it online and it was no problem at all. I just never received a follow-up call after the service was done. The contractor they sent was great.

I've had American Home Shield for years. The problem started about three days before they came. I called during a snowstorm that we had here about a month ago. Everybody was excellent. It was on a weekend and snowing here so they couldn't get to me right away but they got to me in two days and the service was excellent. The contractor was very good and professional. They offered to come back if I had any more problems, free of charge. AHS has always been on time and good. I haven't had a job done by them that wasn't completed. They always explained everything and I understood what was going on and I would recommend them to family and friends.

When my husband, Active Duty Army, came down on orders for us to move, I immediately began researching home warranty programs. I knew that if we were not there to fix whatever needed to be fixed I was going to find the BEST company that would care for my home. Was I ever wrong... We called American Home Shield 23 December because our tenants did not have heat. The 26th a contractor came out and assess we needed a new air handler, mastic and Freon. Paid $625.00 and waited for the install date, 07 January. Bought tenants 3 space heaters, firewood and deducted money off their rent as this was not exactly how a family with 3 babies wanted to spend their holidays....

No one showed on 07 January. Called contractor following day and was told no one was available until 11 January. I put tenants in hotel from 08-11 January because at this point the house was so cold for so long our pipes were now frozen. No heat and no water. Contractor came on the 11th but left without the heat running, with a promise someone would be back the following day (I have that in writing). Needless to say, no one showed. It was not until the 15 January that there was heat.

One week later the thermostat began shorting out and the heat would turn off on its own during the night. Calls were put into American Home Shield to request service but no one responded. I made frantic calls to American Home Shield after receiving notice from ADT that the smoke detectors were picking up on something burning from the garage, where the system was. The contractor was unreachable by myself or American Home Shield due to "their Internet and phones being down". I asked for a new contractor and was denied. I then asked that my call be recorded because I was telling American Home Shield something was terribly wrong and they did nothing.

It took me calling the Corporate Office to get any resolution. We had some serious fire code violations not only in the wiring of the air handler but also that the air handler put in was a USED 2008 Nordyne. No mastic was ever replaced, and an electrical fire that condemned both interior and exterior units. There were no wires hooked up for the AC to even work so why did we pay for Freon?? The written assessment of the damages are being kept from me. American Home Shield has told the contractor who came in to clean up not give us any information - literally. He has also been "spoken to" by AHS for disclosing information to me regarding my home.

I have reported both to the Federal Trade Commission, Attorney General and The State Board of Licensing. American Home Shield will claim they are not responsible for the gross negligence of their vendors but by law ultimately they are. This is under the doctrine of "respondent superior" which basically states that a principal is responsible for the acts of their agent.

For our claim with American Home Shield on the garage door, we worked with two different companies. The first company that I dealt with was not satisfactory. The guy that came was horrendous. He was just white trash and it was horrible. And this is a rental property so he was dealing with my renter, which wasn't great. Then it was a month ago that we had another company come and they were fabulous! He was absolutely great and meticulous and explained everything. Submitting a claim with AHS was perfect and great every time. Within the day, they would call back. Each agent I have spoken to has been wonderful. Overall, the experience has been good.

My wife and I moved in to our 14 year old condo 3.5 months ago. We purchased the AHS home warranty to fix our broken oven, stove, & washer. After calling and finding out we didn't have coverage for the washer, we added it. Unfortunately, AHS mistakenly cancelled our first service call order since they still thought the washer wasn't covered. I had to have a different guy come out to diagnose the issue. He claimed it wasn't leaking and asked me to show him where. It was a good thing the first guy told me where so I could show the second guy. He then claimed he needed parts and they'd call me when they had them to come back. It then took over a month to get the proper parts since it was a ball-bearing leak and they needed a seal kit from several sources, both local and from shipped parts. It took a couple weeks to get them out twice the first time to diagnose the problem, then another month to get parts, then another week to come out to install. The first parts were defective so they had to order more and another week later, on the 4th visit, 2 guys came out and after over 3 hours' work, it was fixed.

I proceeded to run a couple loads and within 2 weeks, my house filled with smoke from the washer. After another week, they came to fix it and noticed it needed a new belt. Later in the week, they bring the belt but I was told the motor wasn't working to turn the belt. They come back another week later and replace the motor/transmission but it's not fixed. They told me the motor was now defective and they'd have to replace that. Another week goes by and they've got the part but can't come out for another week. I had an appointment today but one of the guys had a car problem so now it's rescheduled for Friday.

Last week, I called the appliance repair company and AHS to plead for a replacement since it's been 3.5 months of them trying to fix my washer. The thing is just a stackable Kenmore that's 14 years old. They claim they will only replace it if the appliance repair say there's nothing they can do. This is extremely frustrating! The appliance repair people keep coming back but haven't fixed it yet! I think they just want the business and don't care that I have to leave work for all these appointments. :(

My wife handled the claim with them and said that everyone was pretty good. She said that the tech that came out was a wonderful, really nice guy. He got it done to like new condition. It was quick and I really appreciated that. When the lights came back on, it was pretty eye-opening.

I have no problem with American Home Shield. I think they're a great company. I haven't had any of my clients complain about them. I've had them for about six months or so. My microwave just stopped working one day so I called and filed the claim. The contractor that they sent you was good but I did find the problem that resulted out of him repairing the microwave and I have not even contacted American Home Shield yet. There was something loose in the hood around the microwave and it fell down. I did contact the company and he said he did not break it. I said, “I never had anything done on it. I felt it loose after you came back.” He said he would come and take pictures.

He came in Friday and said he'll let me know if they find the part. I haven't heard anything back. I don’t know if it’s fixable because when it fell, more parts broke off. I don't want to go back to American Home Shield and tell them that this company broke it... I don't want to complain about it. I just want to deal with them directly. If they don't remedy the situation then I would call American Home Shield back.

Ultimately, it took four trips to figure out what was wrong with it, but they finally got it fixed. We think that their service is valuable and we're going to continue subscribing to it. There have been some things that took a while to figure out, but that's understandable. We had issues with our air conditioner and it took almost two years and six visits to figure out what was really wrong with it. All in all, we've been pleased with the result and it has saved us a lot of money.

Our claim with American Home Shield was for the water heater. The rep was nice and kind. The service from both the first contractor and the second contractor was good. The only thing is that I was only supposed to be charged $75 for the first contractor but American Home Shield sent me a statement saying that I owed $75 even though I had paid the first person that came out. I guess it was because two people had to come out, an electrician and one for the water heater. The water heater actually caught on fire and that's why they had to send an electrician out. The overall experience was good. The only part I didn't like was them charging and trying to re-charge. They could have filled in my contract or whatever on the computer that I did all the additional stuff.

I like the contractor they sent out. He was a nice guy. He told us everything that was wrong with our water heater and asked us if we had any questions and it was pretty basic. We ended up having to get a new water heater so now it's fine. It was not something we could wait on until it actually broke in order to use our home warranty for it. So we had to go ahead and get one done.

I sent a claim to American Home Shield for my garage door opener. There were two electricians that came out. The first one was Platinum. They were horrible and they didn't fix it. Then they sent out Dawn Electric which were wonderful and he had it fixed like in 10 minutes.

It did not go though without a whole lot of my time sitting on the phone calling them and being on hold and calling them and trying to get things resolved. I probably had four or five calls. I also get these emails from them, like one just recently, the other day, telling me that the contractor that they've assigned to me has been trying to get a hold of me and no one has tried to get a hold of me. I've had that happen twice now. I'm thinking that they must automatically generate an email after 48 hours. AHS reps were always courteous and friendly although I don't feel that they always gave me the right information. I recommended them to a friend but that was before all the turmoil with Platinum.

It's very fast. The only thing is we did have one bad experience, but it wasn't through them. It was because of their vendor that comes out. When they send someone to do a survey and you write an essay about a bad contractor, you do not get contacted. That’s the only thing that I would change; that they would actually contact because of a bad review on a vendor that comes out.

We've had American Home Shield for a number of years. The representatives are fine. The problems that I have are that some of the contractors are not contractors I would want to work in my house or on equipment in our house. They eventually get it right although we had one property that they were not happy. It’s in a very remote coastal town and it’s difficult to find service providers in the area. And so after they made the repair, they refused to renew our policy. That was pretty bad. They’re probably like all other home warranty companies. It's hit and miss as to who they send out.

I do feel that they don’t send the best contractors. And it may be that the contractors don’t want to accept the offers for their payments. It’s not just one experience. We have a property that they have insured in New Orleans and the service there has been fine. They charge a lot more for coverage in New Orleans than they do in California. But at least, they send out reputable contractors. In California, it is hit and miss.

The contractors they sent always have been good. The recent one knew immediately what the problem was when he got here and fixed it and was gone in about 15 minutes. All the experiences with AHS have been good. I never had a problem getting anything fixed.

A month prior, I've done it on my own for the same thing. I knew nothing was wrong with it but they just wanted us to check it. Filing the claim was great. The rep helps me with everything. She did the claim and did everything for me. The contractor they sent was someone I've seen before so I had a good interaction with him. I had a plumber come out a few days before that to check some stuff. They go out of their way. It wasn't too bad. I've already recommended AHS. They’re great.

I had a stopped up sewage pipe inside the house. The water, when you flush the commode, was making noise in the wall. It wasn't really flushing well. I called American Home Shield. They couldn't fix it. They got the sewage or the pipe inside the house cleaned but there’s another problem and they weren't going to do anything to it unless I paid an extra $400. It works better but there’s still something wrong. The guy who came was real knowledgeable. He worked his butt off for a couple of hours trying to resolve the issue.

Submitting the claim was fine. Everything was good with the representative. I made a call to find out if the plumbing was covered and they said no. I wasn't angry or upset. I’m just dumbfounded because if you have a problem in the pipe inside the house, I figured it would be covered. And I did not know there was a bigger problem than what we had and the other problem was what was not covered without any more expense.

I went online to do the request at first and then I called back to let them know that it was an emergency because the temperature that night was going to be below zero. They were really nice. They upgraded it to an emergency. The contractor that came was great. In fact, he called while I was still on the phone. It just worked out that he was fairly close in the neighborhood so he came within an hour or less and it went well. The company has always been really responsive. I had someone come out last fall to look at the A/C (needed a new circuit board and refrigerant), and then I had a few calls this winter for the furnace (flame switch and blower motor). I have no complaints about the contractors (two different companies - both seemed very professional and I would use either again), and the AHS warranty process seems very simple and user-friendly. I have renewed my warranty for the next year, and I think I broke even cost-wise with the 3 calls over the last year. It is a nice comfort to know that there is an easy and quick way to arrange for service without spending time to research different companies and contractors. Recently, my husband and I purchased our first home. We were very excited and looked forward to being homeowners. Our home came with a hot tub. We had been in the home for 6 months and used the hot tub several times. Then, we noticed that it was not heating up properly so we immediately contacted Home Shield. One week after we called them, a gentleman finally came out to look at it. He spent literally 3 minutes looking at the tub then left. The company that Home Shield contracted to come out called us another week later and informed us that our hot tub was 'not wired correctly and would not be covered'. We considered calling Home Shield again, but then we received a bill. A bill for someone to come out for to look at our appliance for 3 minutes and NOT fix it, or tell us anything more than we already knew. We were unaware that a company would still require a 'service fee' for not fixing the appliance. A company that we pay yearly to have our appliances under warranty.

Understandable if we didn't already pay over $600 a year for Home Shield to warranty our appliances, but then to send out ANOTHER bill for 'service fee' and not fix it? My husband called customer service and spoke to a customer service rep. The rep proceeded to get upset and rude with my husband. I called back and am awaiting a manager to call back. The way I am understanding Home Shield is that this is a scam. A company that wants to give you peace of mind that your appliances are under warranty, but in reality, you are paying a company to have the luxury of coming out and, regardless if they fix it or not, still charging you a fee. To anyone thinking of getting Home Shield, I would not recommend it. If you are purchasing new appliances or have bought the warranty from Home Depot or wherever you bought the things from, stick with theirs. NO need to buy more 'warranty'. NO need to pay into a scam.

One day in middle of a particularly hot summer we heard a loud POP outside and our AC system died. We called American Home Shield (AHS) and arranged a service call through them. A local AC repair company arrived and recommended replacing this 30+ year old Borg Warner system (which appeared to be the unit which originally came with the house when it was built ca. 1979).

I called AHS for authorization to replace the system, but they stated they would only reimburse the cost of repairing the defective unit, which according to the AC repair tech would simply be a band aid fix that would be needed again in the near future. I asked AHS point blank whether they would allow the same downtime to occur repeatedly (even mentioned my wife having a heart condition that could be impacted by a lack of temperature control), but they refused to offer more than the cost of repairing the old unit. I accepted this, then dropped my contract with them and spent the money to replace the entire system (fortunately local county rebates saved me some cash by doing a package deal).

Aside from covering the cost of some appliance repairs, I think eliminating AHS as the middleman was the best decision. In addition to infuriating me by suggesting my wife's well being is less important than their bottom line, they impressed me at the end especially as more of a scam than a useful service. Would not recommend.

After further dealing with AMS, I will say that they did make an effort to resolve the issue again. After this post, I was contacted by and AMS representative who was much more helpful than the original gentleman I dealt with though customer service. The original reason I called AMS out to my house was because of the loud noise my A/C unit was making. The original repair service came out and told us my compressor was being overworked and needed to me replaced do to a missing diverter in the attic. AMS stated they would not repair the A/C because of the preexisting condition, and would not cover it going forward even if I paid to have the part repaired.

AFter the complaint on this sight, they send out a different repair service for another look. This time they stated that the compressor was not being overworked that my unit is designed without the diverter in the attic because it doesn't need it. However, they would not be able to do anything regarding the loud noise the compressor makes because it was working fine.

So, in conclusion, I am not sure if they are still covering the unit since the follow up appointment had a different report. I am also not sure whether the compressor does need to be replaced since that was in the original report. However, I will say, that AMS did follow up quite well and tried to resolve the issue. If they let me know my unit is still covered under the policy soon, I would change my rating of them and recommend thier services.

    Original Review: March 7, 2014

We have had AHS since we purchased our house three years ago and had never filed a claim. Last week we called them because our A/C unit was making a loud noise. They sent out the technician who told us that the compressor was about to give out and he would send that information to AHS. AHS called us three days later and told us they would not cover the repair because the compressor was being overworked due to a missing part. I asked them if I paid to have the missing part put in, would they then cover the unit. They said they would no longer cover my A/C unit. I then asked them to let me out of my contract since they are not covering my existing units as the contract states. They said they reserve the right to deny coverage on any existing units or appliances, and I would have to pay the remainder of the contract. This is a waste of money and very much a headache to deal with. I absolutely do not recommend AHS in any fashion.

For American Home Shield's response to my issues as outlined on Consumer Affairs, I give them a 5 -Star rating. Within a few hours of my posting, I received a call from a very competent representative from the Customer Service department. First, I was impressed that Kassilynn had done her homework and reviewed the file before calling - this was not the blah-blah-blah that I had been hearing. She understood the sequence of events and that it had been poorly handled from my first call. I didn't have to explain, justify, or get upset again. It was an adult conversation.

Secondly, rather than just platitudes, the representative arranged that the installation of my new water heater which was on-going as we talked would be covered by AHS since I still had a warranty in place.

Therefore I am revising my rating - my initial experience was and is well-deserving of a one-star and the company's response to the social media post is well-deserving of a five-star. So I am "satisfied."

    Original Review: March 6, 2014

I placed a service call for a water heater that was leaking water into my garage on Saturday morning. I called American Home Shield. When I talked to the representative, she took the information and said she would call the DrainGo of Alabama to see if they could make an emergency call and that she would call me back. When I didn't hear back, I called DrainGo on Monday morning at 8:00 and was told that they could not come Monday, but would Tuesday between 8:00 and 12:00. On Tuesday, I called to validate the call multiple times and was assured that they would be there. At 3:00 when I still hadn't heard from them, I call back DrainGo and they say they didn't have the request from American Home Shield.

When I called back American Home Shield, I was told that the original agent had cancelled the call. No explanation, no justification, no call, no email. The rescheduled call with another provider was Friday afternoon and I could easily envision that American Home Shield would argue about replacing this 15+ year old water heater which is dumping water into my garage and then it would be the weekend - blah, blah, blah.

I bit the bullet and called a reputable local plumber and will pay for the replacement out of pocket. I will have hot water, be able to stop the damage to my garage and the continual sweeping up of standing water which I have been dealing with for five days, and not have to get dressed for work at the YMCA. I consider my "home warranty" as $600+ of wasted money and a painful lesson learned.

To add insult to injury, when I called to cancel my policy, I am told that only the "cancellation department" can cancel my policy and they would not let me hold on the line for the transfer. Keeping me on the line for extended periods of time when I tried to figure this out, never was an issue, but now when I want to cancel, I can't just hold. Now it is a form from the "service" representative to the "cancellation department" who has 24-48 hours to call me (not counting weekends, of course) and that there was no supervisor available - blah-blah-blah again!

My advice is to save your money, find a local service provider with a good reputation that will do what you need done, when you need it done, and will be respectful of your time. At the end of the day, it is probably more cost effective. American Home Shield, at least for me, has been a huge waste of money and time.

They’re professional, have experienced subcontractors and I’d much rather pay a little bit each month than $400 or $500 in one pop. I never had a problem with them when I submitted claims. The most recent claim was for a dishwasher that is three years old. The drain line was clogged and it had a bunch of gunk that needed cleaning out. They sent out a contractor who was wonderful and now the dishes come out cleaner. I have had bad contractors before and American Home Shield has been wonderful about not sending them back out.

I had no problems with American Home Shield. They were very good. Everything is resolved. What I like the best is that no matter what repair I need, whether for appliances or plumbing or electric or anything that Home Shield covers, I just have to call one place to get all the services and don't have to go to the yellow pages to try to find somebody. It is a great idea.

I have a bad furnace blower motor. The motor has about 1x2 inch end play causing the furnace to vibrate and shake. This will cause the blower wheel to come apart, and damage the furnace and will cause the motor to overheat which could cause a fire. After the company Weathervane that you sent out, checked the furnace, informed me that American Home Shield stated that vibration and noise are not failures at this time because the motor still runs. So to me you would rather reface the furnace when it shakes apart or repair a house if it causes a fire.

Weathervane then wanted to give me a price for replacing it and I told him "no, I work in the HVAC field and have already talked to a contractor," and told him about this and he did not believe me until I showed him my paper work. I assume you have a lot of complaints due to the fact the box about an attorney is already checked in advance. I cannot in good faith recommend American Home Shield to anyone due to your underhanded repair practices.

We had received our home warranty from American Home Shield when we bought our home. You're a little skeptical at first, wondering if this will be a good service. Well, this has been a great service. We have used AHS several times, beginning with a replacement part on our stove. This winter proved to be a real test as it has been unusually cold. We had an issue with a water pipe freezing. AHS has been very helpful in providing professional plumbing services for helping with resolving our issue.

A couple of days later we had a water pipe starting to leak. AHS was prompt in getting the same plumber back out to fix the issue. We also had an issue with our furnace not heating after a subzero cold snap. AHS provided an excellent HVAC person to come out and check that. AHS is always following up afterwards to make certain that service has been provided. Our contract with AHS was up last month and we renewed the contract without hesitation.

They said they checked the coils, and blew out the heater. After they left the third time, my husband got mad and called Maytag to find out about getting coils and he watched YouTube to find out how to change them. The heater is under warranty so they sent me 2 heating coils. One thing we did find out was that they never blew out the heater as they said they did. My husband blew it out and it was loaded with gunk. He also changed the coils, and now it works great. We have plenty of hot water. I am dissatisfied with Parker Plumbing, not American Home Shield. I called 3 times and you sent someone each time, and didn't give me a problem.

I'm not too happy with American Home Shield right now. A lady at work had told me about them. They were okay until recently. In fact, right now I'm waiting on them to replace the furnace. My furnace broke down and the guy called it in Monday and everything was set up and I was supposed to have my furnace replaced the next day. And then they said no, they had to get another company. I couldn't have my furnace until tomorrow, they're supposed to replace it tomorrow, and it's cold here in the east coast. I feel like they didn't go with the first person because they probably found somebody cheaper and the cheaper person couldn't get it to them as quick as the other person. I know the game.

So right now, I'm a little disturbed because ever since Monday, I've been without heat when they could have had it done Tuesday. I feel like they're really not giving me anything because I've been paying them for a few years now. So, I've almost paid for the furnace myself. They could have done a better job on this particular instance.

Contract #**: In the second week of January, you sent a service person to repair our washing machine and dryer. The washing machine was successfully repaired and the dryer was authorized to be repaired but we requested options. We talked to AHS and they agreed to call us back within 24 hours with options. They did and we elected purchase. We went looking and selected the model. Economics led us to purchase locally with reimbursement from AHS of $298.36. Karen in purchasing said that our check would arrive within 2 weeks of when they received a copy of the purchase receipt. The receipt was sent on 1/14/14.

When we did not received the check, I talked to someone named Chastity who verified the purchase receipt was in their possession but she said the check would now take 3 weeks. We called again on 2/13/14 and talked to Ebony who now said there was no record of our receipt but if we would send it to her, she would assist in getting the check out by Friday, 28 February 2014. She was successful in making that happen. If this is AHS policy to delay payment, then the people were successful. If not, somebody dropped the ball and we were disappointed with having to call to get action. This is the first difficulty we have had with AHS.

This replacement took longer than I expected but really through no one's fault. It took time for me to visit stores to examine the recommended replacement only to find that the model was not available. Secondly, the manufacturer's substitute was too large which required me to contact AHS to see if another model was acceptable. After receiving approval from AHS for another model it took a week before the shipper called me for a delivery date. Unfortunately this call came while I was out of town and I was not able to accept delivery until a ten days later. From that point on everything went smoothly and efficiently. The installer showed up on time, was very professional and businesslike and completed the installation successfully. I was pleased with the AHS service but might not have been as pleased had the appliance been one that was essential, such as a water heater.

I originally called in a heat claim with American Home Shield, which I'll refer to as AHS, on 12-17-13 and our heat is still not heating properly today! They assigned McGovern Mechanical to handle this claim. Brian and another employee from McGovern came, a few days after I called in claim, and told me that they thought they could replace the whole unit due to it still being under warranty. However, after not hearing from them for several weeks, I made several calls to them and finally got to talk to someone who told me that only the coil was covered. It took them either a month or month and a half to fix the coil. They could not charge up the unit because it was too cold. I understood that. However, there were some days, in these past months that they could have taken care of this and did not.

I have called to follow up and each time I talked to receptionist Bobbi **. She said she would have someone call. I never received call. I did this so much that out of frustration, I ask for owner and she said his name was Scot and he would call. However, he would not even call back. I called for Brian several times as well. He was the service tech who came the first time. He did not call back either. I called one day and the receptionist, Bobbi **, could not believe I was still dealing with this. I was told the same thing.... someone would call. They never called. I was always given an excuse such as.... due to weather they could not charge unit, also, other times would say that they were too overwhelmed from opening the Nashville location, etc. etc. etc. Their original office was Memphis. I called there and left message for owner, Scot McGovern and he still did not call.

In the meantime, I was following up with AHS every few days as well. AHS was only referring it back to McGovern. I followed up 12-20-13, 1-14-14, 1-17-14, 1-22-14, 2-1-14, 2-4-14, 2-9-14, 2-10-14, and again today 2-24-14. On 2-1-14, my complaint got assigned to Evelyn ** in the research area. It took her 4-5 days to call me. I explained in great detail all the problems I have incurred with them and McGovern not handling my claim. She called McGovern and talked to Brian and was told it had been too cold to charge my unit. She just acted like it was no big deal. I ask her didn't she think that since my original claim was 12-17-13 that they could have found one day to charge my unit! I reminded her it took them well over a month to put in coil. She just acted like it was no big deal.

I ask for President or CEO of company and she said she was the highest I could speak with. I also reminded her that a couple of the AHS reps had called McGovern and were hung up on. When they tried to call McGovern back, they would not answer the phone. They could not leave message because answering machine was turned off.

Well, Brian from McGovern finally came after my husband had called him daily. The unit was charged, however it is still not working properly. My husband has contacted Brian on his cell phone again telling him the heat is still not fixed. He said he was sick and would let the owner know we still have problems. I also put in another call to Evelyn ** at AHS. This is the second day and she still has not called. So far, nobody has called from either place to address this LONG overdue problem. I'm just hoping that something will be done soon!

My second problem is this..... In a conversation on 1-17-14, I told AHS I wanted my 75.00 service fee back because of all the difficulties with this heat claim. I was told they could not refund my service fee, but they would send me a coupon for a future free service fee. This was apparently done 1-17-14, because reps have told me this, but because I never received it, I called to inquire about it again and was told that all certificates were stopped and they are not sure when they will be mailed out to customers. When I asked why they were stopped, they could not give me an answer. The rep today said it would be released four weeks from the original request and I reminded her it had been over four weeks already. I ask for a supervisor and she said she had to send an email for one to contact me in the next 24-48 hours. Very frustrating!!!

Another problem I'm dealing with is.... a plumbing issue. I called around January 17th regarding my garbage disposal. It was making a loud sound. I called and cancelled the claim before 7:00 a.m. on January 22nd because it began working properly. I thought it was messed up and something must have just been hung. Note: The disposal is still under warranty.

Today, I received a bill from AHS where the plumbing company named Hers and His plumbing said they did not get notified of my cancellation by AHS, so I would have to pay the 75.00 service fee. The rep did come but told me because I cancelled claim, I would not have to pay service fee. Also, the morning I cancelled, AHS said they would notify plumbing company immediately not to come and I would not owe any fee. When I contacted AHS today, they said that I would have to pay since the plumber was already on his way when I cancelled. This is just not right! Both companies assured me no service fee would be due.

I'm so frustrated with all these problems. We purchased this home warranty when we purchased this house over fifteen years and I can't get them to help me! They take my monthly premium, but refuse to see that my claims are satisfied. Nobody will do anything to help when I call for help. You cannot talk to anyone higher up. You just feel stuck. I plan to write to the President, Mark Barry. He says in one of his articles that he is aware they need improvement and I'm hoping that he can get my problems handled. I am disabled and stress makes my situation worse. I think I've endured enough! Makes you wonder how many people are having these type problems. Thank you for providing a place for us to rate companies that treat people unfairly. Hopefully, this will help others by reading my complaints.

The repair company was dispatched within two days of my initial service call. They gave me a two-hour window and were timely and professional. When the repair turned out to be cost-prohibitive, an AHS representative called me and took a complete description of my washer to research a comparable replacement. They called back the next day with a recommendation, which we felt was a bit more than we really needed, so we countered with a model more to our liking. AHS placed the order and within 3 days, we had a new washing machine. The delivery people gave us a four-hour window and were timely, professional and thorough. They took away our old broken machine, cleaned up the mess is left behind, put the new machine in place, connected and tested it. They did a great job. Now I call, reopen original issue, now compressor is out and I am told it could take 2 weeks! I'm not sure why not having a fridge is not considered important? So when I call AHS they are like "you just have to wait for the part, no other option!" I asked to speak with a supervisor 4 times. Finally I'm told they will call me back. The supervisor called me back on 10 min, that was a plus! This manager advised of the cash out option whatever repair would cost they could give to me and I could do with it what I need. This pleased me finally cause was going to purchase a fridge that day, couldn't wait! He assured someone would call me the next day with the amount! Still to this day have not received the call back and I have even called a few times... Very frustrated!!!! :( Horrible experience!

I have an old house (1963). It is in great shape, but as we all know, things go wrong. No matter what time or day it is, when I need AHS, they are there. Any time I have called, I always get a well informed, helpful person. They always are sympathetic to my situation, as if I were one of their family members calling for help. I have used the internet to order a service, which is easy but I'm one who prefers talking to a human. I always receive an email with the company who will be contacting me for the service to set up the date and time. I really like that. It helps to know who I will be dealing with before dealing with them.

I have needed plumbers, electricians and for air/heating and each company has been great. I pay monthly and definitely feel I get my money's worth and then some. I never worry about how many calls, they have never made me feel limited. Even if I had a new home, I would get AHS. No matter how old or new, things go wrong and I am so comforted to know I will always be taken care of. It is a great peace of mind and one less thing I have to worry about. Who knew? Great price, quality, friendly and knowledgeable service all in one company.

American Home Shield is a product and service that I would never recommend that anyone purchase. I should have taken the credit at closing. It would have been far more beneficial to me and less hassle. We have had problems with our A/C system since we moved into our home in May. Our System failed 3 times over the summer. The contractor they sent out to "repair" the system was a company, that numerous residents, in our area complain about. The last service call, he never fixed the problem. He actually pumped a large quantity of freon into the system, which was not needed, thus potentially damaging the unit. Thankfully, he couldn't get the unit fixed, so we called another company that was able to pump out the overloaded freon before the system had a chance to turn on.

We have had independent contractors (4) determine that we have a system that was installed improperly and needs to be replaced. That is why it was constantly malfunctioning. AHS has asked us to show much documentation regarding this over the past 4 months, only to deny fixing the problem with our system. By the way, I have the supplemental part of the warranty, that includes "improper installations, repairs and modifications". The real-estate agent who sold the warranty at closing said that she would never use this company again.
