This is the fifth year he has performed magic with my old a.c. When John comes in the door, I know that everything will be soon functioning smoothly and that my old a.c. will run well for another year. I think it is over 25 years old.     I have AHS on a house I own that my sick daughter lives in. I have this coverage to make things easier for her. She cannot tolerate heat well with her disease, so when the air conditioning goes out or has a problem, I get on it right away. I think it took 4 times for someone to fix the problem last summer. This past March, we called for service and it took over a month to get it fixed. First the part ordered didn't work and it was finally decided to replace the unit or at least that is what I was told.

    I just "assumed" that the old unit would be replaced with one that doesn't require freon as we were told that we had to pay for it as it was being phased out. Why would you replace the unit with one that needed something that was being phased out? Instead of paying $75 for the call, I paid $285 and $75 which defeats the purpose of having coverage in my opinion beside the fact that my daughter suffered with the heat in Mesa for a month. This is a true and honest review.

    I recently had an A/C unit that was freezing up. The repair guy came out and told me that my system had a freon leak and that it was low 2 lbs. AHS only pays for $10/lb of freon. Freon cost $60/lb. Therefore, AHS paid $20 plus the leak stop. Seems like they could pay more. I guess we'll see how it is when I have my next A/C problem. It's coming in the near future because I've had nothing but problems with my A/C units!!!

    My oven stopped working one night without any warning. I went online at AHS and created a service order the next morning. I received a call very shortly from the service contractor saying the technician would call me to schedule. The technician called and came the same day after a couple of hours. He diagnosed and confirmed that the igniter was the culprit. Fortunately, he had the part in his van. He replaced it and tested to make sure everything was working and put everything back together. The whole repair took only 30 min or so.

    We have had AHS for years, in two different states, as well as recommending them to clients when we were real estate agents. AHS always comes through for its clients. Our most recent experience concerned a non-working built-in microwave oven and some non-working electrical outlets in the kitchen.     American Home Shield used to be really good about taking care of their customers and if a company they dispatched for a service call didn't fix the problem, they would send someone else out. THOSE ARE DAYS GONE BY! Our Maytag washing machine has been down for a month and BAY TO BAY APPLIANCE (NO) REPAIR just made their third trip out here. OUR WASHING MACHINE STILL DOES NOT WORK!!! I have called AHS numerous times asking for another company and they refuse. I ask about replacing the washer and all AHS can say is the repair company needs to deem the item unrepairable before they will replace it. SERIOUSLY???? How long do we have wait and how many trips does Bay to Bay have to make out here before someone figures out THEY CAN'T FIX IT? Of course, trying to escalate this to a supervisor at AHS goes nowhere too. I leave a voicemail and no one calls me back. I'm done. Needless to say, I will no longer be an AHS customer once this fiasco is over.

    I've had AHS since we bought our home in 2008. Since then we've used the service more than a few times. Each time we've had excellent customer service. The companies that they chose to fix our issues were professional, courteous, and very prompt. We had to have our furnace fixed one winter and AHS had someone come out right away!     As far as getting somebody in the house for any repairs that I need, American Home Shield has been a great help. The problem with the heating started maybe two years ago. There was always one thing after another and it was another company. It just so happened that my bill continued to grow and it went to where it was too high, about $$400. I would call the company and they would come more than 30 days after the fact. One day it could be hot; another day it could be cold. My last repair in November, the technician told me that the issue was fixed, but the next two months, my light bill didn't change.

    I called the company back but they never responded. Then when I went with a separate company, the best company that I've had, Oxford, they showed me very obvious evidence that their work was left undone and there were cables not attached the way they're supposed to be. So that led me to believe that the other company would just come into my house with more problems and make another one so I would pay them again. I was so disappointed. I did my claim over the phone and I never had any issues with American Home Shield representatives. It was just that one particular company that came to my house.

    Our hot water heater started leaking last Friday. We called the plumber Monday because we had not heard from them and received an appointment Tuesday afternoon. The plumber confirmed we needed a new hot water heater but needed approval from AHS. They said we should hear back in a day. It is now after business hours and still no contact from AHS and no hot water. We purchased the best policy that they offered at nearly $700 for the past five years but will not be renewing.     I've used American Home Shield several times through the years. Most recently, our upstairs heat wasn't running. It was the blower that had gone out. The serviceman was very good and very prompt. He came in and got the job done. A few years ago, Home Shield used a contractor that didn't fix our air conditioning. They made several trips out and added Freon to the lines but that wasn't the problem at all. The upstairs unit was leaking Freon and another company came out with a leak detector and detected that so they had to replace the unit. It has generally been good. When we've submitted a claim, they've gotten somebody on it pretty quickly. I also have a policy on another house. I've used them for five or six years and if I was dissatisfied, I wouldn't still be using them.

    We haven't had American Home Shield that long and this was my first time submitting a claim to AHS since becoming a customer. I did it over the phone and there were problems with the contractor because he told me that he didn't get the fax from them, and then I had to call back and the girl said, "I don't know why he didn't get it, I sent it." And then magically, he got it!

    This service call that we had was with the heating people. They were real smart ** guys. They were making fun of anybody who would go through AHS. You could tell he was an employee for that company that came through, and I can't remember how he said it, but basically I gave him the check and he goes, "Oh another satisfied American Home Shield customer." So if I were you, I'd either replace that company with another company or I'd have a long talk with him because he's a real jerk. He's not a good fit, I think. I already wrote all this up and sent it to them.

    Well, the second AC company (3 Brothers) replaced a capacitor and filled up the unit with Freon (although AHS, like most warranty companies, only reimburses up to $10/pound and Freon runs over $50-60/pound now that it's being phased out. Ran $400). The unit cooled for about an hour then quit again. We called AHS back and the first AC company (Royal) came back out 3 days later and fixed the unit. At least AHS waived the service calls for both visits. We did get a followup call from a different AHS supervisor (the first was rude) and she gave us a direct line in case of any problems--she was great. So the unit finally got fixed but it required a lot of calls and aggressive followup on our part. I got the impression that their contractors at much less enthused to service home warranty work than regular cash business--kind of like a bad HMO that already has your money.

    We got a free 1-year home warranty with the purchase of our rental condo in Houston with AHS - we will not be renewing it. We had a water heater leak and were unable to contact AHS on their "24 hour number" that night. We ended up fixing the heater ourselves. Just this week the AC unit went out AGAIN (after being inspected and "fixed" twice by their AC contractor). We called the AHS "24 hr" number Sunday night and got a RECORDING; the AC company did call us back directly the next morning and scheduled an appt, Wed between 1 and 6 and never showed up.

    After calling the AC company at 6 - who was then closed and not answering - we reached AHS who couldn't reach the AC company and told us we should call back in 30 min. After calling back my wife called AHS AGAIN and they finally reached the AC company right away (on a second number) and told us that their AC contractor said we were "never scheduled for an appt" -- despite the fact that the AC company CALLED US to actually schedule the appt and my wife called them back to confirm.

    We are now waiting to get a call back sometime tonight from an AHS supervisor (who was too busy to talk to us so we could only leave a voice message). So basically our tenants sat in the hot condo waiting from 1-6 for no reason and now my wife has been on the phone for 1-1/2 hours. TERRIBLE SERVICE, especially at $75 a service call. And how can a "24 hour" line not get answered? I guess they don't mean 24 hours in a row...

I called them to get a service rep to come out and look at it. They told me what was covered and what wasn't after they submitted their report/request for repair parts.     American Home Shield is fine. The appliance people and the air conditioner people you all send are usually very good people, and I haven’t had any problems, but the plumbers they have in Midland is terrible.

    The contractor (Israel) showed up on February the 14th and said, “Yes, your hot water heater is bad. We have to get you a new one.” They called up American Home Shield, said they have to change the gas valve and the line to bring it up to code. I said, “That’s fine.” We made an appointment for him to come back and he never came back. I called American Home Shield and then he called me and apologized. He came for the hot water heater again (took us over a month to get a hot water heater in) and left the gas leaking! It could have caught on fire and burned the house down!

    I called AHS and they told me to call the emergency line. The contractor called back two and a half hours later and I was on my way back out of state. I drove in from out of state because my wife doesn’t want to deal with him because he won’t show up and he won’t do what he’s supposed to do. So, he’s supposed to come and fix it but he never showed. I just got tired of waiting on him and turned the gas off and left.

    He called last night at 8:30, wanting to know if he could come to fix our hot water heater because American Home Shield contacted him, and I said, “No!” I said I already paid another plumbing company to fix it. I called them 3:00 yesterday afternoon. They showed up, looked at it, said they’d be back in the morning. They showed up on time, replaced it and went, and we paid them...

    AHS reps are always very nice but one thing I didn’t like is they told me they’d put him on ‘do not call’ list for us and they’d give us another plumber, and then he called us. This is the fourth time we’ve had incidents with him. I’ve told him to his face on the phone, and I’m telling you all, that he will never step on one of my properties again. I’ve told the people I talked to today at American Home Shield "to make sure that those service calls are cancelled, and I’ll still put you all on another house." But that’s not happening, and I’ve got a renewal coming up (because we have 3 contracts with American Home Shield). We’re not dealing with your plumbers anymore.

    American Home Shield Warranty gets the "we suck" award of the year! Have been in our new home less than 2 weeks and ran a load of laundry. Now have full bathtub, toilets, shower and back up onto the floor, need I say "emergency". American Home Shield Warranty never called us back in 2 hours, four hours, six hours or 8 hours despite repeated calls and then the emergency number after hours. We ended up in a motel, couldn't use our water, toilet or shower, and now today they say they tried three plumbers and no one in our area? Are you kidding me?

    They didn't bother to notify us during our multiple calls ever that they ever contacted anyone and now say for us to find a repair person ourselves! Ha! Next I am going to the real estate office that sold us this warranty. What a rip-off it has been for us! Here we sit with no help, no customer service and their lousy excuse... we're busy! They should be held accountable for this shoddy service! Where do you go to file a complaint with them? 1-800-we-don't-care, that's who! Disgusted in Onalaska, WA and sitting in a house with no bathroom/drain facilities!!!!

    This review is lengthy and could be longer, but this is a true, honest experience we have had with AHS. We have had this service since we bought our home in 2002 with a brief 6 months back in 2005 when we didn't have them. We have called them out every summer for 12 years, sometimes twice and have called them out in the winter time as well. They send someone to do patch work on the AC units. We have two units in our home and both have had issue but the main unit is the one that has issues constantly.

    This past Tuesday, we came home to a hot house. We are in Texas and it's already hot here! I called AHS and spoke to a very rude agent...I was rude too afterward. I pay this bill every month for 12 years and pay every time someone comes out. They sent a company out on Wednesday. The company that came out stated it was the coils and it would need replacing as well as leaks etc. but the coils were clean. He then gave us a sales pitch for a new unit that they could install. We have kept this service for all of this time because we knew and they knew that these units are going to need replacing, not just patching up. And by the way, our electric bills in the summer run between $400 and as high as $1000 before. Our units are 1997 units.

    On Thursday, we received a call from AHS stating that our out of pocket will be $1500 and $600 of that is the freon, it uses R22. They stated that the company normally charges $60 per pound of freon but they saved me money by only charging $50 per pound!!! I asked them what are they paying for and how much they are paying but they claimed to not have that information. And to add salt to this, they said we could do a cash out and find our own repair person and they would pay us what they would have paid the company that gave us the estimate....that amount is $620 but you only get it when you submit the receipts showing the repairs have been done!

    I asked about canceling my service because I just bought all new appliance for the kitchen and laundry so I really don't need their service if they aren't going to pay for a new ac unit. They told me I would have to pay cancellation fees and penalties....my contract end June 26, 2014! We have wasted so much money with this company. The rates have gone up every year and the service fees have too. I also didn't mention that we had them to come out a few years ago to replace our garbage disposal. The guy comes out, uses a broom. It worked all of 3 days. I called AHS back and they said they would not send anyone else out nor fix it! We let that slide thinking our home was otherwise protected...NOT!

    I used to be with another home service. We left them and came to American Home Shield. They tried to get us to come back. With AHS, everything has been positive. We've submitted claims several times. The most recent was for electric. Now it's up and running and everything's fine. The contractor took care of the problem we were having. There's just that one contractor you sent us that came for the refrigerator who didn't really know about that brand of refrigerator. That was unusual, because generally, everyone else you all sent out here have been wonderful and understanding.     We've been with American Home Shield for years. We made a claim for one appliance. Our interaction with the contractor was good and bad. The contractor came in. We had two complaints: one of them was the dishwasher and the other one was our stove. The contractor came in on the dishwasher and told us that there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher, that we needed hotter water, and we needed less soap. We've tried that and it’s not working the way it should still. He didn't seem to understand how to fix it. He said there was nothing wrong with it, yet it won’t clean the dishes properly.

    The other thing was on the stove. When he came in, we had to show him the problems with the stove, and he had a hard time understanding the problem. Then when we did show him the problem and he finally got it through his head what the problem was, then we didn't hear back from anybody. And so, we had to call to find out that he hadn't turned in the request for parts or anything to you people. We more or less had to run that rather than having them do it. American Home Shield is fine. There’s no problem with them at all.

    I had to fight the last time to get some service. My refrigerator was out. It was completely out, everything was melted. AHS gave me the name of the company, and then the company called and said when they would be able to come. It wasn't reasonable, based on the problem. So I called AHS back again, and the girl was able to talk them in to coming out that day so I didn't have to wait 48 hours. I don't know why they weren't able to come prior to her having to call them back, but I was grateful that they finally came that day and solved the problem.

    So it started out bad, but it turned out okay. The representative at Home Shield got the job done. She was able to call them, and then they were able to call me, tell me what time they would be here, approximately what time they would be out that day. Finally the contractor came here to do the work and they were pretty professional and courteous as well.

    My experience with American Home Shield was fantastic! It started a couple of days before I put in the claim. I don't remember the exact date. A couple of days, I noticed that the dishes did not come out clean. So at first I thought I was over piling - putting too many dishes in, which I know how to do because I've been here a while. But then I thought I'm putting too much soap in or something's blocking it. I wasn't sure. So after washing the dishes over again over nine times, I realized that there was a problem with the machine.

    The kitchen got filled with a bunch of dishes. I got down to my last glass and my last fork and I called Home Shield. I believe it was a Saturday or Sunday. And it was wonderful because they were able to get me an appointment. I called them on Sunday, not knowing if they were open. I believe it was Saturday and they got me an appointment for Tuesday. The guy came here on time. He did an amazing job. And he did an excellent job in fixing it. He was on time and professional. He schooled me on a couple of things that I didn't know in regards to the appliances that he fixed. He told me exactly what he was doing. He was pleasant. He told me ways to save money in regards to the settings that I was using on the dishwasher.

    It was a great experience. I just have to call on one thing because I noticed something just recently. I meant to call today. Its the part where the water comes out, there's a piece that sticks out. Every time the cycle stopped, the piece sticks up where I cant pull the basket out of it. I didn't address that when he came because it wasn't an issue, but now I noticed every time the dishwasher stopped, when I got to pull out the basket, there's a round tubular piece that comes up. It protrudes up. It looks like its stuck in a certain position that it shouldn't be. So I have to call him to make it well. Called the customer service to see if I can have someone come look back out again because I don't want someone my honey or me to pull it out and replace that. But the dishes are definitely clean and I'm very pleased with the person who came and I hope that he'd be able to come every time because he was excellent.

They gave me the name of this guy who works with them. I called them up. He came over and I paid the $75 visitation fee. The contractor was a very nice man. He knew what he was doing.     I've had American Home Shield for about 10 years or so. I recently submitted a claim for my plumbing. It was constant leaking in my daughter’s bathroom. She had put a towel there to stop the noise. I looked at it and thought I could fix it, but I couldn’t. I called American Home Shield and what concerned me was when I called and offered up the problem, the gal talked to me and said it wasn't covered on my policy. So, I got on the internet and pulled up my policy. It said that it was covered.

    I talked with another person that said that it was covered and that she had been mistaken, and that they'd set that claim out and somebody would call me. But the gal that told me it wasn't covered didn’t know that problem was covered. Initially, I wasn't very happy and if I listened to her, I would have said okay and called somebody else and paid for it. The contractor they sent me did a good job.     We had a catastrophic failure of our water heater and it flooded our basement. Submitting the claim with American Home Shield went fine. It was just like every other problem I had. They took the claim and had a plumber come out. In this case we were not particularly happy with the plumber that was sent out and we opted instead to have our own plumber do the work and have American Home Shield reimburse us. We have a completely new water heater and it's working just fine. American Home Shield itself was fine.     American Home Shield was really nice, but they suggested that we rip out the wall and replace the plumbing in our bath and shower. Of course, we were going to have to pay for replacing the wall, and they would pay for the plumber. I thought that didn't sound right because the plumbing and the hot water just quit. It wasn't a slow deterioration.

    So after they'd left, of course, it was going to be expensive to put in all new fixtures. I went ahead and pulled everything because I thought maybe the stem was just plugged. So I undid everything, pulled the stem wherein reversed it and that’s what it was. I went down and bought another stem for $3 at Home Depot, replaced it, put it all back together, and it works fine. They could have done that, and it would have saved a lot of headache. Plus, we've had a bathroom where the towel didn’t match. We basically just did not want to claim. It ended up in no claim on our part because I ended up fixing it.

    It wasn't American Home Shield’s fault, they did fine. The contractor was a nice person, but was a lot iffy. It would have been a bad deal for American Home Shield and for us. It would have been a lot better if they just changed the stem themselves. And they're the professional, not me. I don't want to make that contractor mad, but I really don't want that contractor. I don't like to ruffle people’s feathers but then again, I don't want to use them again. I’ll use American Home Shield, but I don't want to use that plumber because that plumber took the easy way out and it was going to be expensive.

    I submitted a claim for the heater with American Home Shield online as the heater wasn't blowing hot air and they sent an electrician. Submitting the claim online was a hassle. It's a drop down menu where you pick what your issue is. It's confusing because there's AC and heat... It goes between an electric and heat pump and I didn't know what kind of system I had. They only give you so many options. That's how I ended up with an electrician here instead of a heating and air person. Even after I told the electrician that first came what the issue was, he said it probably wasn't electrical but he looked over all the electrical equipment anyway and he sent the referral out for the right guy. It works perfectly now. It was a good experience.

    I've been pleased with them so far. This is my second claim and both of them were pretty good. However, I don't like the online refer system. I actually called them. Every time you call, they remind you, "Well, you can make the claim online." They push that online claim but it should be a little better than what it is.

    There was a confusion in my most recent claim -- it dealt with the septic tank. One came out and it was the air conditioning company but there was also the plumbing... But when I called, I had said the house was stopped and the septic tank was filled up and the pump on that had to be fixed. So then the first one that came out said he couldn't handle that and he called American Home Shield and talked to someone there. They found somebody that would come and pump our septic tank out and everything was done in a timely manner. So I'm highly satisfied. It's working fine now.

    I had a hot water heater that needed to be replaced. The water went from hot to cold and wouldn't get hot anymore. So I went online and submitted a claim. I made the claim on a Wednesday but the contractor didn't hit me back within two days or so. So I went on and called them and then they made an appointment for much much later the following week. I let them know I had a small child here, of course we were without hot water, if there was any way that they could try to schedule a little bit sooner, which they did. They came on a Monday morning and he was able to come back on the following day and make the repair. So everything worked out with that. The only thing that was wrong with this experience was that the contractor never called. I've been with American Home Shield for three years now and I've only had to use them once before and that was a better experience. I'd still recommend them though -- I don't fault them for the contractor not doing their part initially to get back with me and other than that the service has been stellar.

    American Home Shield has resolved my complaint. They sent a new contractor who physically removed our air conditioning unit, took to their store, and reinstalled it After 4 months, our air conditioning unit now works. We did not pay additional out of pocket fees, issue went on too long. I feel they only resolved the issue because I complained to an outside company. I would have liked them to resolve the issue because of the 8 year continuous, harmonious relationship.

    I have been a customer with AHS for over 8 years. I have two accounts and have recommended friends to AHS. However my view of the company changed when they sent the same contractor to my house 4 times in less than 4 months to fix the same problem that remains unfixed. December 2013 I received an excessively high electricity bill and was encouraged by my electricity company to have my heating unit serviced. I contacted AHS and they promptly sent over a contractor. The heat contractor stated it was not my heat, but my compressor was not properly installed.

    AHS had previously sent contractor CLA of Cedar Hill in the summer to fix my compressor. They failed to properly install a hose that caused my compressor to malfunction. In response in December AHS sent CLA back out a 2nd time to fix the compressor. CLA stated I needed a new compressor. It took until March to receive a new compressor, which CLA installed. When I started the air later that month, it did not work. I contacted AHS and they sent out another contractor, Kozy. Kozy stated the new compressor had the wrong hose and was not properly welded. AHS told Kozy not to fix it, but sent CLA back out a 3rd time. CLA came back out for the 3rd time and told AHS that the compressor was fixed. The air worked for a day, but stopped working that week.

    This Friday, April 18th I contacted AHS and CLA came out for the 4th time. The air worked until Saturday morning and then it stopped working again. CLA was supposed to come out Monday April 21st. They never came. On April 22nd I called and explained to them that the air had stopped working again and I asked them why they failed to come on Monday. They could not provide me with an answer. It is very hot in my house. My house temperature is higher than the temperature outside. I contacted AHS today to tell them the air was not fixed and that CLA had been out 4 times and failed to fix the problem. AHS does not want to pay another contractor and it is obvious that CLA does not know how to fix the air unit.

    My most recent claim was for an issue with my air conditioning. Originally, there's been a couple issues with it. The initial issue was in February and it turned out to be the compressor was shorted to ground. The compressor outside, the part of the AC unit, needed to be replaced. It was taken care of and everything was fine. About little as 60 days later, I noticed that it wasn't working correctly. I wasn't sure what the problem was, I didn't know whether it was cooling enough or what, so I put in another service request and they sent out a circuit contractor. He came out and kind of looked at it and found out that the freon has gone out of the compressor.

    At that point, there was really nothing they could do with it because a previous contractor had done it and it was still under that clause or warranty. They called American Home Shield and they told them to do a leak check to see if they can find where it's leaking or what the problem is. So they left and they scheduled another visit to come back and do the leak test and figure out what the problem was. And they and American Home Shield was supposed to determine whether to send out the original company or not -- they had, at some point, right after I made the appointment for them to come out the second time to do the leak check.

    I got another service request confirmation from Home Shield, and this time it was saying I had another $75 service fee. So I called AHS first to check that because my understanding was that I shouldn't. They said I was correct. They fixed it, which kicked out another, and then later on I ended up getting another one but this time it had the original company scheduled to come out.

    The original company came out, looked at it, and ended up refilling it with freon. They made sure it would work and it's working fine so far. So in the end it all worked out fine. I may have paid that second company $35 dollars for no real reason because they didn't do nothing but in the end the AC got fixed. So it wasn't a bad experience, it was just a little frustrating with the miscommunications.

    This year was a bad year appliance wise. My oven went out the day before Thanksgiving, then my washing machine, dishwasher and then the hot water tank. AHS was quick and got the items/problem resolved. They had professional come to the home that provided outstanding customer service. Two of these items the most expensive, the hot water tank and washing machine, had to be replace and could not be repaid. AHS did what they said. I paid my deductible and now I have a new tank and washing machine that are more efficient than my old one. The oven was a double oven that the motherboard burned out twice.     The oven stopped working. You would set it to turn on and it would not turn on. It would look like it was all set to go, but nothing would happen so I called American Home Shield. The contractor was good. He knew immediately what it was, and ordered the part and came back and put it in. It's working fine now. Sometimes a claim goes well, and sometimes it doesn't. There are times when you need someone to come to the house faster than they can send one of their contractors, and there are times when, over the years, I've had disagreements with them as to whether something should be covered or not. But they are doing better now.

    They've introduced several tiers of coverage that you need to pick a little bit more comprehensive coverage. I would like to upgrade to that, but they won't let me until my contract is over, which I think is silly. They have to wait until the current one I'm on expires for me to upgrade my contract even though I'd be paying them more per month.

    American Home Shield is a great company. I've been a customer for 5 years. I have my own house and another property and I have policies on both. Most of the time I file my claims online unless it’s an emergency where you want to call and talk to someone. I log in and I will describe whatever is happening, and I get an email back saying which local company they assigned the repair to. The local company contacts me and we arrange when they come. Most of the contractors were courteous and professional. There was one that wasn't and I was able to ask them to send somebody else. They sent somebody else, and they come, and they were nice, and fixed the problem.

    5 years ago, when I started, it was 20% cheaper. And every year, the premiums go up. My monthly payment was below $40, and now it's $48. That's the only thing that I don't like but I definitely recommend the company to everybody I know. It gives you peace of mind. Something happens, you call them and in a day or two, they are there. They will try to repair it. If not, they will replace it. I would definitely have this for the rest of my life unless they go crazy with pricing again. I've been checking the other companies but Home Shield is the biggest name and the most trusted name so far. Of course the deductible is increasing too. I started when it was $15, now it's $75 but they have to make money. Everybody works for money, and sometimes they have to make things work. So far I'm very satisfied.

    Filing claims to American Home Shield was pretty good but the last one I did was not good and I'm not happy about it. My last claim, I called for a leak and I told the person I talked to that my sidewalk outside was all wet. The problem was outside my house. I talked to two different persons and they never told me that it was not part of my insurance. They sent somebody to look at it but it was outside so now they want me to pay the $75 but I don't wanna pay it. I'm not gonna pay it because both persons I talked to never tell me that it was not included in my insurance. I know it's written down on my contract but when it's an emergency you don't look at all the fine line.     My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the heater that went out on me. I did not quite understand what my problem was and I need to try and get some clarification before the other one renews and before it expires. I don't understand why I have to pay some 700 plus dollars for the water heater when the first time my heater went out in 2002, I did not have to pay anything. They say I had to pay for the inspection for this new water heater. But since then I have spoken to another person who said they were paying $125 and their water heater went out and they did not need to pay anything. I didn't know why his fee for the contractor coming out was $125 and mine was $75. But at the same time, because he paid $125 when they had to call them, he did not have to pay anything.

    I was going to call AHS and see what our difference is because I know I'm paying $47-$48 a month, and it has gone up since. I wanted to know what kind of insurance policy he had that I did not have and what type of policy he has compared to mine. I don't know what he pays a month. Up until this year, American Home Shield has been very good.

    I've had several claims with American Home Shield. I recently submitted a claim for the heating and ended up having my whole thing replaced. They paid me for a pay out because they were only going to replace the compressor and keep it running. If I wanted to complain about that, I could, but it just isn't worth it because the unit is old and it needed to be replaced. That's just the fact of this situation. They did what they said. They were more than willing to order the compressor part and keep it going. And that's all they really committed to do. Dealing with American Home warranty employees is always outstanding.     I've submitted several claims to American Home Shield. They are very good and very informative. If some issue that I had is not so direct, they point me in the right direction on what they cover and what they don't. So far the contractors that I've had are knowledgeable on the situation that I have and willing to work through the issue without prolonging it. They're really there to help fix the problem instead of just looking at it and saying they can't fix it. It's a very good program. They have the right people for the contractors.     Filing a claim to American Home Shield is a lot smoother than with our previous company last year. It wasn't like AHS at all. We had someone come out right away and they were a reliable contractor. The contractors were absolutely professional and courteous. The processing, other than falling over a weekend was kind of stunk, but other than that it seems like it ran pretty smoothly and there wasn't any issues. The appliance is definitely better and has more upgraded features. AHS people were just super helpful and they called me back right away. It was the same lady.     I recently filed a claim online with American Home Shield for a hot water heater issue. The one I had just stopped so I had to get it replaced. The process was easy and I was able to contact someone, so no issues there. They did a great job in working with me. However, the contractor they sent out was horrible. He wanted me to pay in addition to what American Home Shield was going to pay. He told me the total job would be about $1400, but I got somebody that would do it for $800.     The plumbers were great, came out, look at the water heater, found it was not working anymore and got it replaced. It was a fast and easy process. The new water heater started to leak.     We had a problem with our plumbing. The hot water heater was out. And then our heater was not working. American Home Shield had to put a new part in it so we could get some heat. I call when I need to submit a claim. I don't notify them on the computer because it takes a while to hear back and I'm always in a hurry. When I call, they're very pleasant and they tell me that someone will call me within such and such a time. And they tell me who it is that will be calling.

    We've had good luck with all of the contractors. Last year before we had a big water leak, everything in my whole closet in the bottom of it was wet and there was a little leak. You could barely see it where water was spraying out of a little copper tube. They fixed that. Then our hot water heater quit working and they supplied us with a new one and brought it up the code. I haven't had any trouble. It's working fine. The contractors are pleasant and the work has been done pretty promptly.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield plays smooth. My recent claim is probably their wackiest one. The first company that I was assigned to didn't call me after they got the request so I had to call them and then they said they couldn't come for a couple of days. It was my heat and it was cold so I called back and the person who answered was gracious enough to assign me to a different contractor. They got someone out that same day. The young man was wonderful. He explained everything that he was doing. He was very respectful and very professional.

    My experience with all their contractors has all been good. The only wait time I had was the summer before my air conditioning had stopped while I was on vacation. Of course it was heavy demand for repairs came July or August. It did take 5 days but when they came they were quick and it was easy. They were great about it. They also gave me some heads up.     American Home Shield is covered on our new home. I've had only one call when I had to use them and everything was fine. Every time I had to have them for my house that I was renting, they always seemed to find people that were adequate to do the job. The last time I had to have a plumber, I had to go through a couple of them. They're a good service and so far, I'm happy with the price and hopefully I'm paying for not too many services.

    The home that I have is unique. I built a home for handicapped people that are seniors or young people that are just starting out that have to use a home that cares for them.     We've had American Home Shield for a number of years already. Our recent claim was for an electrical problem. They sent a man here but they didn't have a toner because there was something that was not working so they couldn't use that. The other guy that came here didn't have a toner either. They ran a current through a line to see where the problem was and none of them had it. They would have to tear up the walls to find it and we don't want that to happen. At the beginning, the service was pretty good and now it seems like it's more restricted. But they did some services that we were pretty happy with.

    I've had American Home Shield for quite a few years. I recently submitted a claim for a plumbing problem. What happened was about 6 months before they came, I had another plumber come and fix the bathroom downstairs. But when I flushed it, I had to hold it to complete the cycle. So I was having problems with that and sometimes I have company and they flush and it didn't flush the whole thing. I called again and they sent another plumber. Every time we filed a claim, the response had been pretty much immediate, whether I've done it online or on the phone. And everyone I've spoken to has been very accommodating. There's also a lot of transparency about what is and is not covered. We've had a really positive experience. We've had a few claims and they've all been kind of handled promptly. Now, in some cases, we've had to pay for it ourselves, but they were pretty clear about kind of why something was or was not covered so we've been very satisfied.
