I had problems with a leaky faucet and decided to call American Home Shield and have them fix it and this was the best thing I could have done. AHS sent me a plumber who was professional, on time and did a very good job on my kitchen sink and my bath. I am extremely satisfied with the work and will definitely call again if I have any more problems.

The first tech came and diagnosed the problem and had to order the part but his diagnoses was wrong when the part came in and a different tech came out and made the correct diagnoses. But he had to go get the correct part. The second tech was super and should have an attaboy. However they charged $52.00 - yes, fifty-two dollars for a knob that turns the burner on and off.

As always I was happy with the service. It was easy to do the request. The contractor who was selected and contacted me was great, addressed the issue, did what he could, ordered the part and came back to install without me having to track them down and see what the status was. They just took care of it.

My water heater was leaking. I called customer service and schedule an appointment for later that day. The contractor called me and said he could be here earlier if that would work. He was very efficient and clean and knowledgeable. He said if I had any problems to give him a call. I was very pleased with the service of customer service and the contractor. I would recommend them to anyone.

My instant hot water dispenser failed. The contractor arrived the next day and was able to replace the unit that day. Having replaced a similar unit in my previous home, I was very impressed with how quickly he was able to complete the installation. (It would have taken me 4 times the time he took! ).

When we purchased our home 6 months ago, the realtor suggested purchasing an American Home Shield policy. We had never had any type of policy in the almost 50 years that we have owned homes. Since moving in, we have had to use AHS 3 times. In each instance, the contractor called promptly to set up an appointment, arrived at the specified time and quickly fixed the problem. Each contractor was friendly, very helpful in explaining what they were doing and answered any questions that I would have. Having the peace of mind that my home is protected by American Home Shield is priceless.

Monday morning, I got up, went into the shower and lukewarm water was coming out. So I went and checked the water heater and it was busted. I called American Home Shield and the guy came out that day. He had the wrong size water heater and they ended up coming back the next day to replace it, but everything went fine. Submitting the claim was good. They told me they put it as an emergency and my wife is happy. They told me they would get in contact with someone and I should hear from them before too long. It was a great experience and it satisfied me.

The worst. Called Friday afternoon, no one was willing to come out until Monday. When plumbing coming arrived, they were willing to change out the hot water heater but American Home Shield would not permit it. They only would allow them to install a water heater that they supplied the plumbing company. I was told it was going to take a week instead of having it installed that day. So they actually wanted a week to go by without hot water. Ridiculous. No service on the weekend, then wait a week for a hot water heater when one was readily available. My advice find a new home warranty company. Don't use American Home Shield.

First off, it is nearly impossible to get a hold of anyone (supervisor) at AHS. After waiting 6 weeks and 3 appointments with their recommended supplier (Antech appliances out of Escondido, CA), it took them several appointments to only figure out that the first two appointments/diagnosis were incorrect. When we called Antech back, they hung up on us. Then when I called back and requested to speak with a manager, they would not connect us with anyone at their office. AHS claims to only work with reputable suppliers and this is simply not the case. Worst yet, when we requested to work with another supplier we were told by AHS that we would have to pay double! I would highly recommend to use caution when working with this company or anyone they recommend.

Called AHS Thursday the 15th of May filing a repair request for Electrical. The AHs contractor called early Friday morning May 16 and said they would be out between 10:30 AM and 1;30 PM. When the didn't arrive by 1:30, I called and they said technician would be there by 3 PM. He finally showed at 3:15 PM. The technician checked my entire system and determined I needed another separate line stickily for the furnace/air condition to solve the problem. He couldn't do any work until AHS approved and would be back Monday to fix. He did not fixed nothing while here. No lights in bathroom and no air conditioning. I paid him $75.00, the contract required amount for visit but received no service. When I called AHS to confirm approval to do the work, they denied the claim and told me the contractor would be happy to do the work for $495.00.
I have been a customer of AHS for over 15 years. Faithfully paying a $40 a month fee for warranty coverage with very few claims for minor service. Months ago, I placed a claim for my garage door opener motor and they did the same bait, a switch thing. We don't cover that but if you want it fixed the contractor will do the job for X. This is deception and possible fraud with the contractor and AHS in collusion working the customer to benefit both companies. I will never use AHS again and will not renew their contract in July. Once known for their great service and excellent contractors, AHS has fallen to the bottom of the warranty business. Stay away!

Our outdoor unit went out back in March. I called in a repair request and AMP Mechanical was sent out to research the problem. We needed a new heat pump and AMP sprang into action. They installed it, but the new one failed. AMP is STILL working with the Carrier rep to get the new unit replaced. We are very pleased with the folks at AMP but Carrier seems to be dragging the process out.

I've had to use AHS twice already - the first time having the repairman out three times to fix the problem. They are always extremely friendly and get workers out ASAP. Being a first time homeowner, it's kind of like having the comfort of a maintenance help line or (good) landlord still.

So far my experience has been very satisfactory. AHS has handled all my claims professionally, efficiently and in a timely manner. I have bragged about it to my neighbor and co-workers. My co-worker has signed on and my neighbor is going to. Word of mouth goes a long way!

It was the heating unit. It started two or three days prior and I called American Home Shield and submitted the claim. The representative was very nice. They're always knowledgeable and aware of the different contractors in the area and they send the best ones, so I've never had an issue with that at all, ever. They're always very polite and act as if it's an emergency. I've had this experience that if it's really cold or really hot, they'll take the time to say, "Okay, we'll expedite this call", so they can have someone come out to do the service immediately, as opposed to just putting a general call in. I've referred some people to them because I've received outstanding service. I'm very happy with the excellent service they provide.

My ceiling fan would not reverse & required a new part. The electrician consulted with the fan manufacturer regarding the replacement module which was supplied by the manufacturer under warranty. After the parts were shipped to the electrician, he immediately replaced the fault parts for 2 fans in a timely fashion.

I paid this company for 7 years and hardly ask them for a repair services. They always find an excuse and a loophole to avoid responsibility. My pool was leaking through chlorinator and after one week that I lost plenty of water from the pool, I had to call and follow up on my request. They simply said sorry that part is not covered. They did the same thing in my previous request. If you read your contract carefully you will see that they have created many ways to commit scams and steal your money the legal way. Stop your contract and save your money.

When it spin, it moved around the floor. Then it wouldn't turn on at all. They fixed both problems and it works good now. And fixed it the same day with no problems. The serviceman was very kind and you could tell he know what he was doing. Thanks American Home Shield.

I have had this home warranty service for 20+ years, it has covered my past 2 homes. The co-pay and premiums have continued to rise each year. Originally, a 35.00 copay is now a 75.00 copay. I have paid well over 10 grand in premiums over the years not counting the copays. Two years ago, we had an issue with a water heater which needed work, there was also some appliances the past few years that have needed things here or there. Some of the contractors that get sent to our home for the appliances have come with their wife and kids in tow, while another has come drunk and it took him 3 trips to the home to never fix the dishwasher. Once a new company was sent, the dishwasher was fixed the first time.
With that being said, after 20 years of paying my premiums, they are telling me due to the fact I have claimed, I can no longer renew my plan. In other words, if they have to spend money on you... they drop you. I have called on this, I was offered a plan 2x more than what I can get as a new customer. I have spoken to supervisors, all which will not give me a last name. They claim they are within their rights to cancel you at any time so beware, I will be taking this to a higher forum with legal action.

The upstairs unit would not come on. I suspected the thermostat was the problem, but didn't know for sure. I requested that a Tech. come check the A/C unit and get it going. He showed up as schedule (within the time frame they requested) and then after troubleshooting the unit, he did in fact replace the thermostat. Unit is now working correctly.

The water heater has no hot water and it was [icky]. I’m confused when I call out American Home because I figured it would take too long but it didn't. They were almost two hours away and I live out in the middle of nowhere so they go by my zip code. They were wonderful and I’m glad I got them, Thank God! But any other person, it would have taken forever, because it happens to me every time I put in a call. This time it was really good.

Contacted AHS due to a problem with our heating system. AHS contacted a repair service in our area and they responded within the hour. The technician arrived the next day, repaired the unit and we were good to go.

Our dishwasher was leaking and some of the functions weren't working, So when the repairman came, he said he had to order a replacement part. AHS determined it could not be fix and had to be replaced. The first one that was delivered was damaged and another one had to be ordered. When it was delivered, the delivery men were very professional and efficient. We are enjoying our new dishwasher very much. Thank you.

On 4-23-14, I had a new Goodman air conditioner installed at my house, very happy with the installation. The only thing was that David of Sweet Mountain A/c sold me on the Goodman because he said it had a better warranty. But when the men came out to install, they had no warranty papers. I asked about them and they said I would have to talk to David. Well I did call him on Friday May 2 and he said he would have one of his men drop off the warranty papers. I called again on May 9th and left a message and to date he has not returned my call.

My family has been very blessed not to have a major catastrophe while in our home. However when my wife and I first moved in, we sold all of the extra appliances. Shortly after that, it started happening. One piece here, one piece there and the dishwasher is leaking. If we believed in jinxes, we were jinxed.
We were blessed to have been able to have AHS and when we called, they responded. If I had a question, they answered. If I wasn't sure it was covered, they helped explain it to me. The website is designed to make things simple to navigate and select the issue with no wait times on the phone. I am impressed with AHS and the team they have assembled to met the needs of my home and family. I truly do recommend AHS, it is an investment in my home and in my family.

For the first time this year I turn on my air conditioner in the house... and it did not work. I call the American Home Shield to tell them the problem. I call 05/11/2014. They told me 24 hours they will call me... I am sorry to said today is 05/15/2014, still no one came or call to tell me that they will have someone. I call everyday to find out why they take so long for someone to come and find out what is round.... I have a child of 19 months in the house. The temperature is 98 degrees..... Could someone tell me when is this problem going to be fixed? I am not happy with this company. I do not recommend this to no one.

It was determined we needed a new toilet after the second visit from our plumber. The plumber was supposed to submit the paperwork for approval to AHS. This took a week to complete. We had to contact AHS and the plumber several times and leave unreturned messages before finally speaking with an AHS representative who called the plumbing company. After that contact, it took 2 days to fulfill our service.
We are happy with the new toilet, but we were unhappy with having the burden of making the calls repeatedly, instead of the plumber simply contacting AHS, then calling us to set up the 3rd appointment time. It didn't make sense to us why the plumbing company dispatcher kept telling us to call the plumber directly and leave messages, since that was clearly not moving things along. All we really wanted was someone to communicate the delay and set up a future appointment.

Excellent service overall. Our water heater went out and after I requested service on-line the contractor contacted me within a few hours. After replacing both the thermostats later that day, the water began to heat but we ran out of hot water quickly the next morning. They sent someone out again the next morning. Apparently after the first trip, the top heating element burned out. Even though it took a second trip the next day, I was very satisfied with the service.

I am currently a customer of AHS. While out of town on business, my wife called me to inform me the water heater was leaking badly. I told her "no problem" call AHS. She did and AHS promptly sent out a complete CROOK from Rite A Way Plumbers in Riverside. He obviously saw this to be the perfect opportunity to take advantage of a helpless mother and attempted to up charge her about $800 for "additional repairs" not covered by AHS.
Once again, I told her "no problem" call AHS and have them send another plumber. She called and AHS who refused to send out anyone else and gave us the option of using the CROOK or taking a "cash out", and by the way she'd have to wait 3 days to find out what the "cash out" would be. Leaving us with the options of use the CROOK, go without water for three days or hire our own plumber; we opted for hiring our own plumber. The plumber came out and confirmed our suspicion, the the first plumber was a CROOK and replaced the water heater for about $900 dollars. AHS then came back to tell us our "cash out" was $440 (after taking out $60 to pay the CROOK). AHS was completely inflexible and obviously can care less about the little guy. Obviously, I will be cancelling my account and moving on to another warranty company.

I was very please with the service that I received. The speed of the work done by both AHS and the contractor kept my daughter from freezing throughout the winter. The repairs done on the AC was a blessing now that we are in the spring/summer months in Texas.

I was told by an agent of AHS that my contract would cover any upgrade to $250.00. However, I had to pay out of pocket $150.00, because I needed a 4" pipe for 40,000 BTU. My Hot Water Heater was a 36,000 BTU, which according to the repairman they no longer make. I have a 3x3 contract which pays for any upgrades.

The contractor was prompt in responding to the initial claim. When he arrived he knew exactly what it would take to remedy the situation. The repair was executed quickly and was tested to make sure that it was successful.

There was leak coming from under my house and I could not locate it. The ARS Plumbing guy told me that he could not dig unless I paid 1475.00. I could not afford this price so I asked if I got someone to dig under the house so they could locate the leak or leaks would that be ok and where. So I got some to dig and they found the leak which was not under the house and made it so they could fix it. The ARS guy was still not satisfied and said he needed more uncovered. I felt like he should have tried to do something without asking for such a outrageous price. AND HE HAD THE NERVE TO TELL ME HE WOULD NOT BE BACK OUT IF IT WAS NOT RIGHT. So I got a friend of the family fix the whole time for 300.00. And did a excellent job. I REALLY WOULD NOT LIKE FOR THAT ARS GUY TO COME TO MY HOUSE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

Terrible service! Customer service unable to help. Called for ac not cooling. AHS sent a company but did not accept their diagnostic. They informed me they needed a second opinion. Two days have passed and they can't find a vendor for a second opinion. I've called 6 times and same answer. They can't find a vendor, their supervisor is not in, they will call me back, wait four hours, etc. I would give them 0 stars but is not an option here.

American Home Shield agents were very understanding and helpful in arranging for quick repairs of garbage disposal and overflowing toilet. Major plumbing issue from back up of stack vent pipe was quickly resolved. Plumber was on time and thorough in correcting the problem. He was as clean as he could be with backed up drain water and sediment. Plumber was punctual and quick in replacing the leaking disposal unit.

My recent experience with AHS was excellent. I lost heat on a Friday during a significant cold snap. The contractor responded quickly and a service contractor was scheduled for the next day (Saturday). The technician arrived in time, was professionally attired, was courteous and efficient. My system was fixed within an hour or so. The serviceman also took the time to show me a few tips on routine maintenance of the system.

Excellent response time from AHS and the contracted service vendor. Service company was very prompt in setting up appointment, and on day of service call, serviceman was polite.... Identified himself and was very knowledgeable about my problem. He was so careful to keep the work area clean, which I greatly appreciated! AHS customer service reps were wonderful to work with. My policy had just expired and an issue came up with a covered item in my home. The customer service rep immediately understood my issue and helped me reinstate my cover so that I could submit a claim. The process went smoothly and quickly with no issues.

I got a brand new range! It took a few days for the entire process, but AHS ended up getting us a brand new range! First a contractor was sent out to repair a burner on our old range that was not working and causing a breaker to trip. He was unable to make the repair, so a different repair company was dispatched to attempt the repair. They determined that the range was not able to be repaired, so AHS emailed to me the options for replacing the entire unit. I had the option of paying a little bit to upgrade, or go with the new unit they recommended for only the deductible I had already paid for the service call! I went with the one they recommended, and it was a very nice choice. It took a few days for the entire process to be completed, but I ended up with a beautiful new range for only the cost of my deductible. It was a big blessing to have this insurance.
I have had AHS insurance on both of the two homes I own for a number of years, and it is a big stress reliever to know they are there. If anything goes wrong with my appliances, furnace, etc., I know they are just a phone call or online service request away! I don't have to hunt to find a reputable service-repair provider, because AHS arranges for one to call me, and I just schedule a convenient time for the service call. It has been a big help to me.

I called & asked your rep if the home heating oil tank (badly rusted bottom & possible leakage) was cover as part of the oil furnace system and she said yes. Your rep created a work order and CVHA came out to look at the tank. Another one of your reps called me and belligerently told me the tank was not cover under section F; then section E; then no he made a mistake section F, then E. He was rude and accusing when I had explained in depth at the beginning how it was the oil tank associated with the oil furnace. Not pleased.

I had a leak in my house which was inside the wall. The company that came out was wonderful in their response and timeliness. Their work was great. The only issue I had was that I had no idea, and not been informed that I needed to go to the website to pay the deductible. Maybe I missed that somewhere, but it would be nice to have that stated during call.

On 28th March, we called for an order to fix the electric services for a recessed light, ceiling fan, and a bathroom fan repair. Till today, 12th May, they still have not told us about the repair work for the recessed light, in spite of multiple telephone calls to American Home Shield, and the insurance repair services.

Each summer, I have trouble with my unit, replace parts in unit every summer to get it back in operation. This being going on for the last six years or more. The unit is old 1991, the repair guys state that on every time they come out to take a look at it. I have been with AHS for a long time now and every time it the same problem. I understand upgrade and replacement parts but the same items added every summer. This is why I am dissatisfied in this matter....Thank You!!!

I love American Home Shield. It always works out for me. Recently, I had to have the furnace outside fixed and it worked out pretty good. It was on a weekend when I called and they contacted me. I contacted them on a Monday or Tuesday since I hadn't heard anything and they said that the company they were dealing with wasn't taking any new customers. So they had to search around and find another company to come out and do it and they did. They came out and checked it out and found the whole heat exchanger and tore it apart and had that in within a week.
The phone representative was good. They're always confident. I just love talking to them because they just jump right on it. We did have a little bit of a problem after. When it was running before, the whole heat exchanger would send an exhaust up through the vents. After they had fixed the furnace, I thought we were still getting some more smell and they came back out and rechecked it. I had my ductwork checked because I didn't know whether I had a hole in there or not. They found that the smell had gotten into the lining of the ductwork but that's all cleared out now. It's all great. We can run it again.

Guest room bath/shower diverter was nearly not flowing. The plumbing contractor arrived in a reasonable time, since it was not an emergency and had the diverter valve cleaned and lubed and working perfectly in a short time. Thanks American Home Shield. This is our fourth experience and all have been positive. We'll continue to pay our premiums for the peace of mind we have.

We have been loyal AHS customers since we purchased our very first home in 2002 and have been in our current home using AHS for 7 years. We have always sworn by them and given any of our friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc. who were homeowners crazy looks whenever they indicated they didn't have a home warranty! AHS was always our first recommendation. The service has always been impeccable - even when it wasn't a covered repair. But today they have really messed up! We have the extended plan which covers our HVAC unit - and we have 2 of them since we have a 2 story home which costs us approximately $600/year.
We also have the HVAC preventative maintenance plan which is an additional $330/year. As a part of the preventative maintenance plan, AHS will send a HVAC technician out twice per year to inspect our HVAC system. We just had this done in October 2013 and the technician rated everything Satisfactory. Well this weekend my A/C went out. I submitted a service request to AHS and the technician came out today and advised that the evaporator coils were badly clogged and had been for quite some time and were beyond repair/cleaning and needed to be replaced. AHS is refusing to cover the repair to the tune of $4K because of poor maintenance of the evaporator coil --- but hello they did the maintenance check in October and advised that the evaporator coil was in satisfactory condition.
How do you get to refuse to repair an item due to improper maintenance when you are the company performing the maintenance and indicated the system was satisfactory? After being passed around several times between the AHS service department and the preventative maintenance department, I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told I could write a letter!!!!! After continuing to press for a supervisor, I was told they would give someone a message to call me back and 4 hours later and I am still waiting. After this experience, even though it is my first bad experience with AHS, it's a doozy enough for me to completely end my relationship with them and never recommend them to anyone else, in addition to filing a complaint with the BBB and the Texas State Attorney General's office because this reeks of fraud to me!!

I called for service on my washer and refrigerator. The service provider came fairly soon, but took about 2 weeks for him to come back to repair my washer, after about a week the washer started to leak again, and the service man could not come back in the time frame I needed, since I was leaving the area for my summer residence. The refrigerator part was deemed faulty by the repair man and again not able to get the part reordered and repaired in time before I was to leave. I am hoping that these problems can be resolved when I return in the fall without me having to pay another service charge, since nothing was repaired on the first charge.

Our refrigerator had started freezing vegetables in the vegetable trays. We contacted American home shield. A service person contacted us the next day. He arrived the following day and replaced the control panel. He explained what he was doing. He was very clean, professional, and answered any questions I had regarding the refrigerator. We will tell other people about our experience and recommend they should have American home shield to handle any service problems they may have in their home.

I have been a customer with AHS since 1995. I had a problem with my AC and the technician came out promptly. I received a call the same day and they were there to do the repair the following morning. I also appreciate the 1/2 hour call ahead which allows me go to work and meet the technician there. I was originally given to another company, however, I asked to have US Heating and Air because over the years they have always worked out well for me. I recently purchased a warranty for my primary residence as well.

My clothes washer stopped working. And this was after a visit from AHS contractors for the dish washer and the oven. So I was bummed that yet again, something had broken. But, the contractor came out when he was said to, did the work, showed us what was wrong and even told us what it would have cost to fix it. Basically, I would have had to buy a new washer. So it was a good experience!

We have a heat pump/AC unit. Our upstairs unit was not heating. Called a repairman to check it out and he found the system was low on Freon. Worked for about 2 days and it stopped again. Called AHS and they sent someone out. I advised them that we just had Freon put in. Rather than look for the leak, they just added more Freon. Again, this lasted about 2 days. Called AHS again and they sent out different rep from same company. This time, he went right to the air handler (upstairs) and looked at it (he was there for about 2 minutes), and said it was leaking there. I asked why they didn't look there to start with. Said it was protocol to fill with Freon first...
Then AHS called to tell me that they were going to replace the air handler complete because parts were not available for my unit (it is a 2006 YORK). And since they were replacing the inside unit I had to pay to replace the outside unit (the condenser unit, which is about $3000), with a knock off brand, PAYNE. I asked them why they couldn't repair the air handler and they told me that my unit was 21 years old and no parts were available. After 3 phone calls and hours of time on hold, I finally convinced them that the air handler was not older than my house.
The contractor had written down the incorrect model number and since he couldn't find it, assumed that parts were not available. Once the model year was corrected, now the contractor refuses to repair the unit and told me that parts are not available. I called YORK as well as a local contractor who said that was incorrect, parts are available and will fit in place of the old. AHS has promised me several times to return calls from a supervisor to resolve and I still have not had the problem resolved, which started in February.

Older home that I am updating and living in needed valve stem in master shower. Took a while for the part to arrive. Apparently there is a shortage on older parts in this area. Must be because of the beach rentals of older homes? After the first attempt, the technician came out and realized it needed an additional part. He went to the local A.H. store and found what he needed. He had a positive attitude and was able to explain what he was doing so that I understood.

In the last year, I've not had any issues with American Home Shield. However, it was quite the ordeal in 2012 when my refrigerator stopped working and they chose to fix a 27 yr old fridge for $300 instead of replacing it. The "fix" lasted a month and you ended up having to replace it but only after going through a ridiculously long process/red-tape leaving me without a fridge for a couple of weeks. I keep the service because I find it necessary with an older home NOT because I find your company to be the best or very good with customer service. You're simply better than the others; which unfortunately, doesn't say much.

American Home Shield is a little pricey compared to the competitors, but usually reliable, as long as you don't have to call them on the phone because the waiting time is too long. I had an experience in the last six months where they, after 48 hours, could not find an electrician with a tall enough ladder to work on my ceiling vent. So I had to find an electrician. On top of that there was a lot of extra paperwork for me to do and explain to the electrician how to get reimbursed and everything else. It was really painful.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield on the phone for appliance. My wife told me that they just quit working and then I remembered that we had coverage with them, so we called right away.
The experience in submitting a claim was perfectly fine. The representatives that I spoke to were friendly and knowledgeable. They were most helpful. As for the contractor, it was kind of funny. He told us what the problem was. He got to order the parts. He came back when he got the parts and then he was very embarrassed because he forgot to order one part. So we waited a couple of extra days, which was fine, and he came back and got it taken care of and our appliance is now working fine.

The most recent claim with American Home Shield was for the garage door opener. The contractor came and fixed, but he's got to come back because the lady who lived above here was complaining it made too much noise. (But then again, if you live above garages, you're going to be able to hear garage door openers and she lives over three garage doors??) In addition to this, I have some insulation in the attic that may be emitting off fiberglass particles. And since I'm in cancer remission, I need to get it removed. I just found out about it. It's covered under my warranty so I hope they will do it.

The service man who came to check the microwave was very professional and after going clear through it, he discovered that it was arcing and needed to be replaced. He told that to the office and as of today, Sunday we are still waiting for it to be replaced. My only complaint is the process could have happened sooner. Hopefully by early this week, we will have our new one.

On April 18, 2014, I received a text from my tenant that they don't have hot water. She had been smelling gas and called the Gas Company. Gas Company showed up and advised her that the water heater vent was causing the problem. The gas was shut down. I called AHS and requested Emergency Plumbing (I had a very good experience with this company last March 25th with kitchen faucet leaking and bathroom stoppage). I also requested AHS customer service to put a rush on this concern which they did. Emergency Plumbing showed up between 3 - 5 PM the same day and fixed the problem. If you have any rental properties, make sure that you carry AHS coverage. I have 3 of them and I have a peace of mind. Submitting claims with American Home Shield is fine. The reps were knowledgeable and courteous. However some of the contractors they have are not satisfactory.
The contractor I had for the dishwasher was just atrocious. The first time they came, they flooded the floor! They said “It’s okay to run it till I come back with the part.” Well, we ran it and it flooded the floor. The next time they came back, they didn’t have the right part. They had to come back again. The next time they came back, they put the wrong part in. They said it worked and they left. We tried to turn it on. It didn’t work. The fourth time they came back, they said, “Well, I don’t know what’s wrong.” So I said, “Just get out!” and I went and bought a new dishwasher.
Problem was the next time something came up (we had a problem with our waste disposal unit) they referred me the same contractor. I said, "You have to be kidding! I do not want that contractor." I said, “There’s no way." "How could you have them on the list and how could you refer them to me?” So I complained and we got a different one and they got us a good one and it was very good. The guy was perfect. He came in and fixed it. No problem... on time. It was just excellent. So overall experience is good but AHS should take that contractor they sent for the dishwasher off the list.

With my recently submitted claim for the pool system, there was an issue with a broken ball bearing thing and they fixed it. They got the issue resolved. But I had a bit of a do-si-do with my washing machine - I went back and forth with that for a while. It took four visits over about three weeks until they figured it out. But now it's fine. So things have gotten ultimately resolved and it's all good.

I've been a loyal American Home Shield customer for several years. However, in the last 6 months, their service has gone downhill. It took 2-3 months to send an electrician to my mother's house. The reason for the wait I was told was they have few contractors in my mother's area. In contacting them about this and other issues at my mother's home through email, they have not been replying. Therefore, you have to call waiting anywhere from 15-60 minutes on hold. The current issue is their a/c contractor informed me today my upstairs a/c was fine. However, my downstairs a/c required a coil and drip pan repair. When I asked whether it was worth leaving the upstairs a/c on, I was told it would cool only the upstairs (because of the type of coil my a/c has).
The tech asked if I wanted the upstairs a/c off, I said yes as I have bad knees and trouble with stairs so he went upstairs to turn it off (or so I thought). I left the house and when I came back I heard a fan running so I went upstairs and found the a/c still on and a leak on my ceiling. I contacted the a/c contractor and expect a call on Monday. When I called AHS, the customer service rep didn't understand why I was calling them. When he finally understood, he kept repeating the damage was not their responsibility. It was the responsibility of the a/c contractor and AHS would not assist me in dealing with the a/c contractor. Hopefully, others are having better luck.

The problem that I had about electrical, it’s okay. It’s no problem -- They come and they order the parts. When they come back, they fix it... The only problem that I got with American Home Shield is on the particular problem with my heating. They had to reschedule it four times. So every time they do reschedule, I have to take the day off because there should be someone at home. And of course if you take day off, you're not paid.
When they rescheduled the third time, the guy said, "You don't have to be home." Then I said, "How about the check?" Because I haven't issued a check yet. He said, "You can mail the check, then we'll just show up there." So I mailed the check. But then the following day, he called and said, "You should be home because we have to fix inside the house." ??? Next time maybe they have to make sure that when they come, they have to finish the work.
Furthermore, when they completed the problem, they issued us the invoice and it says there, “No charge to the customer.” But the Home Shield sent us the bill for that $75. So I tried to get in touch to that company, the CSS, and last week, it looks like their phone is not working. So I called AHS too and explained it to them and they said, “We’ll try to get in touch to the CSS and we’ll see what happens.” I have the copy of the invoice that they issued to us.

It cost me $1278 and my family was without water for 30 hours due to incompetent contractor. Also was left without a cook top for week and had to do the work myself. Phone people are incompetent and not honest, rude. Didn't represent Home Shield. I would fire them if they were my employees. Completely disgusted and unhappy. Have told everyone about my dissatisfaction with Home Shield. Spreading the word as much as possible to keep friends and colleagues from using this dishonest service. My hot water heater went out sometime Thursday May 8, 2014. We had storms all day Thursday and when I could not hot water I thought that the pilot had been blown out. Since we had the storms Thursday I did not check the pilot until the next morning. When I went out in to garage to check, my garage floor was covered with water. I called American Home Shield and the rep was very nice and said that since there was water everywhere, she would report the problem as serious. She gave me the name of Vacon Plub. and said they would call to set up an appointment. Later that afternoon since I had not from anyone I called. I was informed that they did not have anyone available and that my policy was for would end 24-hour service. I call American Home again and got another plumbing co. Still no response so I call this morning and the voice message was that working hours Monday thru Friday. Again I called Amer. Home and the very nice rep. and he said that he would help and someone would call and let me know when I could expected service. It is almost 2:00 and haven't heard from anyone. I am really disappointed with your service. It looks like I will go the entire weekend without hot water..

Our recent claim to American Home Shield was a toilet problem. It wasn't a big problem. They fixed it in two seconds. AHS has always been very good every time I submit a claim. They call me right back. Whoever they contact, they called me within that day and then they sent someone out around my schedule. They were very easy to work with. I really am pleased with them. My experience with AHS is very convenient. It is worth the price. I have to pay a flat fee but I know it will get fixed without costing too much and I don’t have to really have any extra worries. It’s like an insurance policy for your home and it is definitely necessary.

She gave me the name of the company who will address the problem and told me I would be contacted by them. The contractor they sent diagnosed the problem. Spin cycle wasn't working. A repairman from Sears put the belt back on & leveled the tub. The spin cycle was spinning so fast it ejected the agitator & fabric softener dispenser. Another repairman showed up & stated that the fast spinning caused damage to the machine, so he ordered some parts & a week later 2 repairmen showed up & got it running. It's been 3 days... so far... so good.

I'm happy to say that I was contacted by a Customer Service rep from American Home Shield and she completely resolved my issue. I was able to contact a plumber and have him perform the repair and American Home Shield paid for it. In fact, I'm so happy that I just renewed by insurance contact for another year. They really stepped up to resolve the issue and the result is they once again have a satisfied customer.

I submitted a repair request for a circulating pump on my tankless water heater because it was intermittently making grinding noises that indicated to me that it was/is possibly going to break and I was concerned it would cause more damage if that happened. I was told by AHS that their policy is not to replace anything until it completely fails. My feeling is that is like saying you won't replace a tire with a bulge in it until it blows out, possibly causing an accident. I am in the process of paying to have it replaced outside of the AHS insurance policy.

We moved into our new home in December 2013. We immediately had AHS come look at our hot water heater. It was looked at 4 times before the only service tech in our area determined and actually told us their best guess was that the hot water heater was failing because of a secondary issue. The plumbing company has terrible BBB reviews and is not reputable. They are licensed, but not of any good reputation. As of 5/2 our hot water heater issue was still unresolved. In fact it finally quit working completely. We had to hire another company to come out. They said it was old and had no secondary issues. This is a licensed company in our area with a good reputation. We submitted all the necessary paperwork to the claims review department and now AHS refuses to honor the diagnosis of a company, this company we had to pay out of pocket to come and make a real diagnosis.
This is not one of their companies so this reputable company's diagnosis holds no value to AHS' terribly rated service company they will dispatch. They told us our hot water heater case was closed and would not be covered. We have no other opportunity to talk to anyone about this. In fact the last man I spoke with today ended the conversation by saying, "We hope you'll be more satisfied in the future. Have a nice day." Click. He hung up on me. If you live in a small town DO NOT do service with AHS as they do not have enough companies they contract with to ensure that you will not be the one left out to dry like we were.

Made the appointment with AHS. On March 10, Grants Pass Plumbing came out with the proper tank replacement after he had about a week (or so) earlier came and inspected, assessing replacement was needed. He was most careful removing the old tank (had a few rooms and doorways to negotiate) and putting in the new one. He was also very patient and professional with my asking questions, watching how he did things (more for my education as opposed to any sense of inspection), and giving me care tips and support. Overall, an excellent experience. This work and service brings added value to the AHS brand.

Then we went to kitchen and showed the problem. It was a minor issue and this guy could not figure out and started banging on gas burner with his hammer.
I was surprised and saw the burner. It had lot of dents. I asked him what was going on. He said there may be a gap between burner and gas pipe. Once he is done banging with hammer, the issue became bigger. Now this guy went outside and sat in his car, ate some burger and came back and said, "AHS won't cover this" and he said he will repair it for $496 (excluding $75). I was shocked. I am seriously planning to complain about the damage this guy did and planning to talk to my attorney. Good thing is my home security captured what he was doing.

I have had a few items that have needed repair. All I have to do is call AHS and they contact the service person that is needed. I have received prompt responses to set up service, and the service has been done at a very reasonable time and in a very professional manner.

Absolute waste of money as nothing is covered. Air Conditioning condenser shuts off three nights in a row but begins to run mid day. Can't repair/replace unless unit is in failure. Not in failure when the service person comes and no option for a night call (even volunteered to pay for evening visit). Finally get them to come in the morning during failure (on the third try) and decide it is the SmartZone Controller $950 and not covered under warranty. Call manufacturer company and two local contracts $544 is their price for board. Call my own second opinion and it's the fan motor, board is fine. Call about the fan motor being covered and well... that isn't specifically listed. It would have to be in failure and a reason why the fan motor is going out! Bottom line useless and absolutely no help with alternatives. Had in and out air for a week. Finally just paid out of pocket which I'm sure is their intent!

We have had excellent service with our AHS repairs. The appointments are set up right away and repairs are scheduled and done within a few days. The repair technicians are professional and courteous. I have referred AHS to several of my friends and co-workers and continue to tell others about it.

I had a problem with my A/C unit so I called AHS and a tech was out the next day on time and was very knowledgeable. He fixed the problem in 30 min and I was on my way back to work. Great Service.

The service AAA appliance call the same day. They came at scheduled time, did a very thorough check of the machine and found that it was unfixable. The company called the next day to set up a delivery time. Everything was done in a timely manner. I was pleased with the whole process.

AHS has been the best, most efficient home warranty company I have ever dealt with. I sold real estate for 10 years and most of my clients would choose AHS. Whenever they chose a different home warranty company, it seemed there were always problems. I have had AHS in my home for many years and have never had any problems with any of their service calls, customer service or the reps they use. I highly recommend AHS as the leader in home warranty companies.

Our hot water heater started to leak. AHS had a technician from a local company come and take a look. He decided it needed to be replaced and with the ok from AHS, pulled a new one off his truck and did so right then and there. In 24 hours we were back to normal.

It took a little time and coordination, but Eric was finally able to fix my fridge. My only complaint is that he has no follow up, so you have no idea where you are in the process. You don't know if part was ordered, when to expect him back; everything is kind of in the air. But as far as skill and knowledge he is great. Diagnosed the problem right away, ordered the right part the first time, and did the installation properly.

A nice young man found the problem quickly, replaced the wall switch which almost matched the 4 switch plate and corrected the receiving code for the remote fan. Good, quick, relatively inexpensive and it works.

The claim with American Home Shield was for a water heater. There was water leaking out of it. We called Saturday and filed the claim. They referred us to A1 Plumbing. We put in a call to them thinking they could get us on the list for Monday. They were very nice. They came out Saturday morning and looked at it, and drained it so that they could fix it quickly on Monday. It was a good experience. We've been with them for twenty years or so and we've been very satisfied. If there was a problem, they've all worked to fix it. They are excellent.

In San Antonio, Texas, the temperatures are extreme during the summer. Can you imagine not having a working air conditioner? Well this happen to my family and I received prompt service within two days. The company was able to fix the problem in a reasonable amount of time. What I liked most was the customer service. They asked if I had an elderly person with medical problems in my home. In answering YES, they would have sent a company for immediate repairs. In all, the monthly price for the contract is good, considering the cost of calling for service and repair prices in today's world.

I called in a repair for my washing machine and oven. The technician was professional, knowledgeable and very nice. American Home Shield honored their commitment that if they can not fix it, they will replace it. My washer could not be repaired and I received a new one in a week. I have been without an oven for the past 3 weeks. The Technician responded and order a part that took two weeks to get here. After installing the part, the oven still does not work. He said he had to order another part. The technician does seem too competent.

Horrible experience, with the warranty company and the vendor they sent out. Bottom line, I chose the cash out option due to issues with the crooked repair company that was sent out. I was told the allowable amount to repair my central AC unit was a big whopping 35 bucks! Thanks for nothing, American Home Shield. I ended up repairing it myself out of my own pocket and eating the $75 service fee. I cannot put to words the aggravation and grief this company caused me and my family. Please, save yourself some grief and steer clear of this company, American Home Shield.

We added the pool equipment coverage when we bought a house with a pool and are certainly glad we did. We had pump problems and heater problems and AHS responded promptly and professionally and fixed the problems. We recently sold that house but will go with AHS when the house we are building is completed.

My toilet stopped flushing; would not fill up again. I went online to set an appointment. The message I received was that it sounded like an emergency and to call in which I did. The customer service person did not treat it as an emergency. She said City Plumbing would call me within a few hours. I waited until around noon at which time I called City Plumbing. The owner, Nelson, said he was pretty sure he could have someone here in the afternoon. Two plumbers did arrive in the late afternoon and fixed the toilet using my replacement parts which I had purchased to repair myself but decided I couldn't.
The repair was completed quickly & friendly. The problem I had with this experience was going online, told I should call in and then not having it treated as an emergency after all. There is a disconnect between online customer service and telephone customer service apparently. I used my time to go online and then to call in. It should be a one-stop-shop. City Plumbing probably would have called me back sooner if it had been treated as an emergency as your online people seemed to think.

I contacted AHS, to report my water softener not working. It did take several days to get a vendor to come, reevaluate and then replace the system. The Company that came was very professional, tidy and did a complete and thorough job. I am pleased!

The 17 year old HVAC system was out of order twice; once was during 30F weather. AHS was very responsive and prompt in sending someone to repair it. It took over a week to get the part which was due to the age of the system and not AHS. I could see it was going to be one thing after another, with temporary patches, so I replaced the system and will request a cash out. Overall, AHS offered good service.

We would highly recommend American Shield as your home warranty company. When I called for service, they immediately told me who would be calling me and that company called me usually that day and set up an appointment that was within a week from the call. Each company for each service called me to let me know when they would be there. If they were running late, they would call and that enabled me to get other things done. All the service representatives were friendly and knowledgeable and completed the work in a timely and efficient manner. We were very pleased with American Shield for coordinating everything and very pleased with all the companies that they use. We had an appliance company, a plumbing company and electricians.

I have two houses with AHS and the customer service sent the tech to the wrong house when I called for a service for my AC unit. They sent it to the house that I didn't call for it. And I paid for it. When I called back to see what happened, they told me they will listen to that call and I will receive a call in the next 3 business days and it has been for almost 2 months, nothing yet. I got tired calling back, they sent the tech again and the tech didn't even fix it. Never called me to tell me what was the problem so I am very mad, sad with the service. That company that AHS sent to my house just stole my money. I have been with the company for a very long time and I was happy but after this nightmare, I just want to cancel both contracts.

On Monday, I placed my order. AHS sent me an email letting me know what company would contact me, which was Barry Johnson Electric. When I didn't hear from anyone, I called Wednesday evening. I was told they were having a computer issue with AHS customers and would get back with me before close of business. So far, I have not heard anything. Should I call them back? Feeling ignored but still love AHS and feel it is a privilege to be able to have it.

I have had a sizeable leak in my house. The plumbers that were sent could not locate it so a leak specialist was called in. Another day went by before he came and found it. Another day has passed with no follow-up from plumber... 4 days of water leaking at an alarming rate and I am waiting on your contract plumber when I could have had a local plumber here and be on the road to fix it. So the ratings don't reflect the finished job since it is not completed. But both have told me that the warranty will be extremely limited for the repair and I will owe much.

I have had 2 claims with American Home Shield. One an air conditioning problem and the other a water heater problem. Both claims were handled promptly and courteously. My warranty is set to expire in July and I will definitely renew my contract. American Home Shield is the real deal in my opinion.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone 2 or 3 months ago because it looked like there was something wrong with my air conditioner. Water was running out from it and was coming down to my patio. The representative that I spoke with was very pleasant, and I had no problems submitting it. They came out and said that there was a little something they had to fix and it was all done, and I was happy.

The company sent was timely and very professional. They took survey trip and called for work approval and returned the next morning and completed the work. I received a call back to confirm all was working well. My only complaint was American Home Shield would not cover the $300 fee to pull the pump out of the well, 450 deep well. I had to pay that amount out of pocket.
