From the time I placed my call to AHS, I was contacted within 24 hours of my call from the contractor. I have had AHS for over 7 years and this was the first time my problem was not fixed on the first attempt. However, they were quick to respond and fix it right away. Customer service was very professional and helpful.

I Had to have Hot Water Heater replied recently. AHS was "Johnny on Spot". No problems, I would recommend AHS to every Home Owner.

It seems that every renewal period the monthly charges go up. I don't understand why. It also seems to happen without any warning. Happy with service, but very disappointed with the increase in monthly fees. You would think there could be a discount for being a longtime customer. Guess, that's just wishful thinking on my part!

The wall oven was out of order. The response was fast, a technician came and identified the problem, since there was a need of a spare part that was not on stock it was back ordered. It arrived on time and the technician came and fix the oven.

I have been with AHS since 2009. It was recommended to me by a friend. I have found their staff helpful and friendly. Their contractors have always been the best and quickly diagnosed the problems. So far the warranty has covered my repairs in full. AHS is well priced.

AHS has always been prompt in response to service request and dispatch of technicians. They diagnose the problem and get a solution in place quickly. If they don't get it right the first time, they will come back at no charge until the problem is fixed. A part went out on my A/C and the technician diagnosed it and it was fixed within the hour. They were out on the same day I called. That is saying something for Arizona!

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was great. All I had to do was get online and explain what was wrong and just put it through. I sent a claim for my air conditioner two weeks ago on a Saturday evening. I put it in an email and it went to Crouch Plumbing and they got it early at 7:00 AM. They came out immediately and diagnosed the problem and got it fixed that day. The contractors were just great, very positive, polite, and helpful. It was a very helpful experience and it was one that was just pleasant and very efficient and helpful. It's efficient and I have recommended it to everyone I know who owns a home.

I have truly been satisfied with services from American Home Shield Warranty program. This program has been a blessing to me in many ways. It has saved me a great deal of money and etc. I remember when my air condition went completely out and could not be repaired. They immediately did the necessary paper work and the unit was here the next day and properly installed by Myers Air Condition service. They were kind, courteous and very prompt with their services. Due to the fact I have a medical condition they wasted no time in ordering the unit and getting it running.
Next, my stove went out and the technician was prompt with their service. I have told everybody that I could contact about the great service with American Home Shield Warranty and this program can't be beat. I've tried others in my life time but they are the greatest as far as I am concerned.

The baffle broke in my Neptune Front Load Washing Machine. At first, they thought it was my fault. After further inspection by Dino Factory Authorized Service, they discovered my stainless steel tub had what you call Oil Can Syndrome. Dino's is excellent and they are very knowledgeable. AHS is now replacing my machine at no charge to me through your appliance replacement service.

My oven decided to chose its own temperature instead of the temperature we set on the dial. I called AHS, and a very polite gal helped me open a work-order, and schedule the service call. The Tech arrive right on time, diagnosed a bad temperature control unit. He checked to see if the part was still available for my 23 y/o GE Oven. Well, it turns out the temp. unit's been discontinued for several years, and no longer available. He explained the process of replacing my de-funked oven at no charge to me (beyond the $75.00 service call fee). Since all this transpired on a Friday, I figured that it would be at least the end of the following week before I heard from AHS. Wrong! I received an e-mail first thing the following Monday, that contained 3 new oven models to chose from. I made my choice, and returned e-mailed it to them. My new oven arrived Wednesday morning, along with two installers swap old for new. An hour later they were gone! And so was my old oven and all the trash. My new oven is in place and working great! Thanks AHS!!

Nothing is scarier or more aggravating for a South Florida homeowner than air conditioning trouble in the summer. But between American Home Shield and Automatic Control Air Conditioning, I had no fears and no worries when my A/C system developed problems. AHS processed my service request quickly. Automatic Control responded likewise, showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. Within 48 hours, it was all taken care of.

Called AHS when our tenant said the disposal was not working. By the next day the replacement was in and all was well. We are happy with the service, as we are 1000 miles away from our house and have to rely on AHS for service. Things just work smoothly. Thanks!

Air conditioning was not working. Called American Home Shield and they were quick to have someone call me to schedule an appointment. Due to the floods on the day I called, the repair was completed the following day. Communication was excellent and I would recommend this service.

I have just finished my first year with American Home Shield. I had to call them on three issues and each one was handled exceptionally. Their operators are friendly and helpful and their contractors have been highly professional and very prompt. Absolutely worth the premium...this has been a particularly bad year for my HVAC system at my house. My furnace went out during the coldest few days of the winter when the temps and wind chills were in the negative 20's. My service was restored within just 2 days. Then at the beginning of the summer, my AC went out as well...both systems were replaced with new more efficient systems in a short amount of time and mimic all out of pocket expense to me, a single mom without the means to replace either system. I am eternally grateful to the guys at M-K Butler for all of the help they gave me.

The first company you sent was not good. Quickly said what was wrong and changed a part. Refrigerator did not work after he left. Second company you sent was excellent. Did extensive work and made sure unit was running prior to leaving.

I highly recommend American Home Shield. The service and promptness are superb. My old refrigerator stopped working. AHS replaced the old unit with a wonderful unit. I paid a $75.00 service call fee and AHS replaced my unit with a $1199.00 new unit. I worry about a lot of things, but I never have to worry about American Home Shield.

We had our pool filter that the bottom part of the housing had sprung a leak. The first contractor (Champion Pools) came out and denied service without even attempting to do anything, due to I had sprayed some stop leak material on the leak in an attempt to stop the water from coming out. I feel like the contractor was lazy, it was hot and it was my wife that was there. After discussion with AHS, they sent a second contractor out (Expert Pools) who agreed with me because it was very apparent that the stuff I had sprayed on in no way damaged anything. It scraped off rather easily and he wound up finding the leak and replacing the bottom housing. This was thanks to you at AHS who trusted us that the first contractor did not do what they should have and Expert Pools.

Our 30 year old washing machine had served us well but eventually gave out. Unable to find the parts, AHS gave us a reasonable amount to buy a replacement. The contractor was efficient and coordinated everything with AHS. A no-hassle experience.

I have been a member of American Home Shield since 2003 and have used their services many times. I have mostly had good service (there was a bad service rep in Johnson City, TN but was able to get a replacement rep) reps and the service has always been honored by AHS. I have recommended AHS to all my neighbors wherever I live and have done so with the greatest of confidence in the referral. I have now built a new home and was offered a great deal on service protection for a new build. I have used AHS for this home several times and the reps they send have always been knowledgeable and courteous. I would not think of owning a home without have an AHS service contract on it.

I contacted AHS in April because the downstairs central air was not cooling. Tri's Heating and Air was the company that provided service. The tech added freon and said to call back withing 60 days if the unit did not cool the house. I contacted AHS again in June because the upstairs unit was not cooling and the downstairs unit was making an unusual noise. A tech from Tri's came and told me that there was a leak in the downstairs unit. He added nitrogen with more freon to determine where the leak was located. He also added freon to the upstairs unit. AHS approved a return service call and the tech came today. He said the evaporator coil needed to be replaced. He will return when the part comes in.
I have been pleased with the service from AHS and in particular, Tri's. The only negative experience with a AHS service contractor was when the central heating unit was leaking gas and the first company sent to service it (AHS Heating and Air) did not find it. The techs were defensive in stating that they had fixed what was wrong. The smell and leak continued. When a second company (TD Refrigeration, Inc.) came, the tech said we were at risk of an explosion because of the gas leak. I contacted AHS to say I would NOT accept AHS Heating and Air for any other service. AHS has been a good choice for our home repair service.

June 23rd, Home Owner called American Home Shield (AHS) requesting service on Hot Water "Pilot Light not staying Lit" AHS Dispatch: 290389782 Vendor: The Plumber". June 26, VENDOR COMES OUT, does not diagnose problem, only lights heater and leaves indicating if problem exists: “Pilot goes out" call back. Day 2, June 25, Home Owner calls AHS back again requesting SAME Service on SAME water Heater - "Pilot light" not staying lit, Dispatch# 290703572 Vendor: The Plumber. Vendor comes out, same results: "ONLY LIGHTS PILOT" and again does not DIAGNOSE ACCURATELY PROBLEM, only tells Home Owner pilot "NOT GETTING PROPER CIRCULATION in ATTIC".
As result, Home Owner makes modifications to attic at allow circulation, result again Heater Pilot goes out again. Day# 3, Home Owner calls AHS Customer Service "PLEADING for EMERGENCY SERVICE" due to # of days Home Owner has been without HOT WATER AHS: NOT EMERGENCY. Home Owner talks with 2 Separate Supervisors at AHS "Justin and Donna", response from Supervisor: “NOT EMERGENCY". Home Owner very very very frustrated with AHS lack of response and non response.
DAY # 4, Home Owner calls back AHS requesting service DISPATCH# 290998862 for NEW Vendor : Vendor: ARS (Saturday). Sunday: NO HOT WATER and NO Service Call. Monday, DAY #7, Home Owner called AHS "EXPRESSING DEEP DISSATISFACTION with the POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE", as result of POOR and SLOW Non-Emergency Request from AHS.
HOME OWNER CALLED SEPARATE PLUMBER AND PAID OUT OF POCKET FEES TO PLUMBER TO RESOLVE HOT WATER HEATER PROBLEM. BEEN TRYING GET AHS TO RESOLVE FOR 7 DAYS NOW. HOME OWNER HAS PAID $800 OUT OF POCKET TO RESOLVE HOT WATER ISSUE. AS RESULT OF POOR AND UNREASONABLE SERVICE FROM AHS: HOME OWNER IS REQUESTING AS OF TUESDAY JULY 1, 2014, THAT MY CONTRACT BE TERMINATED IMMEDIATELY.

My washing machine was making a lot of noise and I assumed it was the bearings. I called American Home Shield and they sent someone out right away. They required a second opinion because of the cost they were told it would take to repair it. I was told Sears couldn't be here for another week, but after calling Home Shield and explaining I couldn't wait that long, they called Sears and got them out much sooner. I was given the option to have it repaired, or given the amount it was going to cost to have repaired, put towards a new washing machine. I decided to purchase a new machine since I needed a larger machine. I feel they went out of their way to accommodate me, and am very happy with their service.

I had RELAXED HEATING AND AIR come out to fix the A/C and furnace. I had asked to be the first call on the serviceman's route. I am a sales rep. I normally leave the house at 6:30 or 7 am. Relaxed's idea of early is 9 am. The serviceman didn't arrive until 10:30 am. He was not finished until 12:30. I think you need to find service agencies close to your subscribers' zip codes. Also, find companies that are able to have their techs come out at 7 or 8 am.
The serviceman came back on Saturday to finish the job. This time he was here closer to 9. He did a good job. I just wanted them to come out earlier than their start time.

We bought an existing home and had been in it less than 6 months when the water heater broke and flooded the utility room. We called AHS for the first time (and wondered would it really work or would we get some kind of run around). I'm pleased to report that the entire experience was fantastic from the CSR at AHS to the CSR at the contractor to the tech that came out and installed the replacement water heater. Professionals all the way. And to top it off, the replacement water heater was a top of the line unit, not some cheapie from a discount retailer. All it cost me was $75.00. No hassles at all!

I have only been a member of AHS for a few years and had never heard of this service before I was introduced to it. My real estate agent recommended it so I signed up for it. They told me exactly what was covered and I have contacted them about 4 times, 2 times for an a/c problem and 2 times for an electrical problem, and each time my problem was addressed immediately and I was very impressed with the service I received. I would highly recommend AHS.

Second service call within one month. Serviceman said thermostat cover was calibrated with thermostat and it's not. Air went out twice within one month. Had to wait days to get service both times. Same service people forgot me last year.

Our central air unit went out and American Home sent out a repairman within a few days. We had some trouble with the first man. I believe maybe you should screen the people better that you send to our houses. As customers, we need to feel safe with the knowledge that the people you're sending to us aren't ripping us off. American Home Shield Is The Greatest
When purchasing a newer home than one previously owns you would expect fewer problems right? WRONG.....Thank goodness for American Home Shield because our newer home was a basket of problems. I'm talking A/C, microwave, refrigerator. When I call American Home Shield I cringe thinking OK how many times are these people going to put up with me?? Answer: EVERY TIME... They are always concerned about my problem and passionate to the situation at hand. They are always sorry to hear that I have been inconvenienced and get me a repair person close to our home immediately.
Without AHS we do not even want to begin to think where we would be. I can honestly say for me it would not be a good place. But these people ease the pain of broken down appliances in your home. They are eager to get you back on track and back to the comfort level in your home that you once enjoyed. They always ask who do they have the pleasure of speaking with and always end the call thanking us for choosing them and calling in for our repair needs. Where in the world today do you get that kind of service? I ask you again where? NO WHERE but at AMERICAN HOME SHIELD because they are like I stated in my subject line simply THE GREATEST!!!! I don't know the order number, but my electric stove coils in the oven started burning and burn completely out and American Home Shield sent out a repairman and I had my oven back in working order the next. I was very happy to go back to my baking.

We have been very pleased with our home warranty. We purchased our new home, and after we moved in, our water heater needed extensive repairs. It took a while for the service technician to order the correct repair parts in, but once they were in, we were fixed up in no time. The cost of this repair alone more than paid for the home warranty. The new appliances have MUCH more technology, and parts can be very expensive, compared to just a few short years ago. Not to mention, even if you are pretty handy and could fix your older appliances, things have changed. My wife & I are 100% satisfied with our home warranty. It was a great choice!

Everything went ok. Had to wait on a second opinion, just made it take longer to be repaired, was out of air conditioning longer. I have asthma and so does two of my grandchildren. I left and went to another warranty service for a slightly cheaper price. I found during the year I was away that the other company's contractors did not contact me or return calls right away, even for some minor repairs. Then I had a biggie, a leak in a slab. I found out that their coverage was only half what I would have gotten with AHS. I am so glad to be back with a company I can trust to take care of my problems!

Ahs is very quick to respond when service is required, the only draw back is some of the company that they uses is questionable. But if you are dissatisfied for any reason with the services that is provided, they will do everything in their power to rectified the situation.

I had listed my home for sale with a realtor & was going to offer a AHS home warranty. Big, big, big, mistake. Once you list your home and you sign up for the home warranty, the realtor calls it in. Well, we were gone for the weekend and 4 days after signing up with AHS, which is for home buyers and sellers, we discovered a water leak but could not determine were it was coming from. It was coming between the walls. The hot water heater was leaking from underneath. It soaked the carpet in the bedroom downstairs. The first technician came out in two days and didn't even think it was the hot water heater & it was called in 2 days later. They denied it saying that it was pre-existing before the contract. So after some complaining and calls from the realtor, they sent another company out for a second opinion. They found the water leak underneath and said they would call it in and I got a call about an hour later claiming that it had been denied again because it was detectable. Duh, it is obvious that it is detectable.
As a professional myself, I would not recommend this company at all. It is suppose to be about customer service and fixing what is covered under a home warranty plan regardless if it was prior to and not noticed until days later. That is what you sign up for, right. Poor, poor, business decision. I will never use this company ever and I thought about going in real estate and it makes me sick to see, hear, and now experience this company poor customer service. Go with other companies other than AHS and please do yourself a favor and check with other companies and their reviews before you make a decision and don't go by just the BBB reviews because there is 19%, now 20% angry people which is the second highest percentage reviews with Consumer Affairs.

My Tenants called me about the washer drain issue & they are on the 2nd floor condo. They also referred me to a Plumber that would give me a quick service @ a great price. He was late for the appointment by 45+ minutes. He told me that he needed to get a longer cleaning coil and it could take a few hours for $150 - $200. I declined the offer and called AHS. To no surprise your attendant/service was Great! On Time and completed the job in 30 Min. I've been with AHS for over 20 years & very satisfied with your services. I think you should hire Tony The Tiger for AHS Advertising, i.e. "AHS Service is Grrrrreat"!

The first vendor referred to me by AHS came out 2-separate times (first time on 3 June) and the problems with my A/C units was not resolved. It is now 30 June and the A/C downstairs still does not work. And now AHS is making me pay a second $100 deductible, though I reported both problems when I made my original request (my A/C unit was leaking water AND it was not cooling off my home).

Any and all experiences that I have with any work orders I've called in have always been handled very professionally and with the problems corrected in the least amount of time. Two of the problems I've had was handled by Bissett plumbing and a/c and was corrected in a very professional manner. I would highly recommend American Home Shield for any home repairs needed. This I would rate as a 10 plus.

Easy one stop shopping for all our home repair needs. Once you subscribe to their service, you simply go to their website and submit your needs. They will then schedule an appointment with one of their services and the bill is covered by AHS, after your deductible. Have several services done from appliance repair to AC to Plumbing issues and although I had an issue with one of their service providers, AHS was quick to take note of my problem and offered a solution I was happy with. SO yes I would recommend them.

Our service call was assigned to Arctic Air Service & Maintenance. They came the next day after I walked into a pool of water in the hallway. The air conditioner had leaked enough that it was in the hallway and two bedrooms. I was very glad that they came out and repaired the leak. The service personnel that came was very quick in finding the problem and repairing the problem.

Our gas range needed fixing because we could smell gas when we tried to light the oven. AHS sent a repairman, who found the trouble and found that the range manufacturer no longer made the needed part. The gas problem could have resulted in an explosion, destruction of our kitchen, and injury to us. AHS replaced our range with a new one.

This man is to be commended for an excellent job! He came out to clear a slow drain in my kitchen and he got it draining again. But he said it wasn't draining fast enough, so he went out in the 101 degree heat, up on my metal roof, and spent half an hour clearing the vent pipe. It was a brutal job and he could have gotten away without doing it, as I wouldn't have known any better. As a result, my sink drains beautifully AND my dishwasher performs much better. I am so impressed and so grateful to this man! He is an excellent representative of your company!

American Home Shield did an excellent job for me recently getting my problem fixed quickly. I explained that I have a family member on hospice care and needed my a/c fixed that day and they were able to find a service agent that came out and fixed the problem that same day! I called AHS to report that I was experiencing problems with my pool. The pump was no longer working. I placed the call and a repairmen was notified within a very reasonable amount of time. I contacted American Home Shield regarding my air conditioning that went out in the middle of the night. They responded with a few hours and had a serviceman out the same day. While he was here, he checked the entire system and replaced what parts were not working property. I only paid the service fee... the rest was on American Home Shield's nickel. Thank goodness I had them.

The contractors American Home Shield uses seem to be your average home repair guys. I probably would chose the same contractors on my own if we didn't have AHS. They usually call within 24 hrs of our request for service and we get something scheduled. We haven't had any problems or complaints about the repairs that have been completed. I would definitely recommend them to friends or family that are home owners or thinking about buying a home.

Last year due to issues with my home heating and air conditioning system that were covered by my AHS contract, I signed up for their preventive maintenance contract supplement. Based on their literature I assumed this would be a reasonable means to obtain service and inspection of my system and to be proactive in preventing unexpected service calls for system failures.
AHS has contracted with a local HVAC company for repair services, but when I contacted them for scheduling a "PM" system check at the start of this year's cooling season I was notified by AHS (after several weeks of waiting) that they did not have a contractor in my area to provide the required inspection services. Some few weeks later my wife received a phone call that we would be receiving what appears to be a partial refund of premiums paid since AHS is unable to fulfill the contract.

AHS has been great... no complaints. Any repairs I have needed have been done to my satisfaction... but I think they have wasted a lot of money nickel & diming an item's repair beyond its life and worth. They will spend more money trying to fix a dated item over & over again than they would have spent to replace it and be done with it. I think they would be more cost effective to review the age or potential future output for an item's continued repair costs... and just replace it as opposed to here & now saving a dollar.

Poor----- First operator said she could not find me, because I did not have my current contract # (It changes every year). Then told me I did not have service with you! AHS should use an account # that can be used every year regardless of contract #! The second operator could not find my name in your files either. Requested a supervisor, then gave up after a long wait.
I have no difficulty logging on to request service, using my email address on your website. I was trying to coordinate an issue about the service that was in effect at the time, to try and save you some money. However I could not find anyone with knowledge about anything. I wasted at least 1 1/2 hours then I had to just hang up.

My wife and I purchase a new home that came with American Home Shield (AHS) warranty. Our realtor explained to us how wonderful it would be to have a warranty and not have to worry about any major repairs. We moved into the house on 1 May 2014 and we noticed a water leak coming from the washer area. So, we called AHS and put in our first work order on 4 May 2014 because the website prompted a message error to call them. The call was not difficult to make and I was met with nice friendly customer service that provided me a company name and work order.
The next day the plumbing company (generic receipt does not have name on it) called me back and arranged an appointment time for 5 May 2014. The plumber was on time, very nice, courteous, professional and asked me where the leak was at. He made his observations/inspection and then called AHS to get approval for the work. In a couple of hours he completed the repairs, accepted the $75 payment and left. I was happy with the work and with AHS.
On 9 June 2014, my wife noticed water coming from the same location that we had previously made a call on. Another call was made on 10 June to AHS (again the website did not allow me to put in a work order and prompted a message to call). The call went just like the first time. I was assigned a work order number and company to come out and do the repairs. Only this time I was told that I would not have to pay the service charge of $75 because it was previously reported. American Mechanical & Plumbing company called on 11 June and set up an appointment for 12 June.
The plumbers from American Mechanical & Plumbing were on time and somewhat professional. I took them to the leak area and they asked me to move the washer because they could not. I told them the other company did not have any problems moving it and they were sent from AHS. They apologized and restated that it was company policy. I moved the washer for them and they started their inspection. It took them about 20 minutes to figure out what the problem was. I was told the washer drain pipe, located between the hot/cold valves was not leaking but was overflowing and that was the problem. They said they would try to snake it and clear the line. The snake idea did not work and they said they could not locate the clear out to the main line. They also said it would have to be cleared out through the roof vent but they were not authorized to get on the roof. They would call AHS and notify them of this. They left with the work not being completed and a promise that they would follow up with AHS. I was expecting a call from AHS that evening, I did not get one.
I called AHS the following day (13 June) and provided them with the work order and company name who was at my residence. AHS said that they could not proceed any further until they received the estimate from the company. After getting off the phone with AHS, I called American Mechanical & Plumbing. Their clerk advised me that she would have to talk to the plumber b/c she did not know anything about it. I followed up with AHS on 15 June and this time they said they had received the work order from American Mechanical & Plumbing. According to them, it would have to be cleared out from the roof top. This was not covered under the AHS plan. So I hired another plumber (No Sweat Plumbing) who came out and unplugged the drain. I called AHS back to let them know that I was not happy with the company they sent (American Mechanical & Plumbing) and let them know that I hired my own plumber who came out and performed the services they could not.
On 21 June, my commodes started backing up and I called AHS to put in a work order. Same process and same results. I was assigned American Mechanical & Plumbing again. They called me on 22 June and said they could come out on 23 June. I told them that did not work, I have a family with three children that need a restroom. They said sorry but due to the bad weather (it was raining) they did not want to send out their plumbers b/c it was not safe and it would also track in mud to the house. I accepted their appointment for 23 June. I did not wait for them to come out.
I called Mr. Rooter (plumbing company) who came out the same day and with the same conditions. They unclogged my commodes and left. I called AHS and told them about my experience and cancelled the work order with American Mechanical & Plumbing. AHS said they had cancelled the appointment and sent an email to American Mechanical & Plumbing. On the next day, American Mechanical & Plumbing called to notify me that they were on their way. I explained to them that the appointment had been cancelled and why. They said okay!
I received a letter dated 19 June from AHS. It states that this letter is to confirm that the clearing of the lateral plumbing line stoppage where no accessible ground level clean out is available is/are not covered under the home service contract with AHS. It also identified a contract section number with specifics. The bottom line, was they were not going to honor their contract due to their contract writing. It was not signed but did have the title Support Operations Department. The moral of this feedback is pretty clear. I paid $455 to American Home Shield (Home Protection Plan) for a warranty product that will not cover repairs. In addition to the warranty cost, I have spent $436 on plumbing repairs. My wife and I are not happy or satisfied with AHS. I do not have any photos to add to this feedback. I do however have receipts to substantiate my expense.

I would first like to say that I was very pleased with the representative from the company that was sent to fix my A/C. He arrived on time and was professional. However, I live in Arizona and I think your policy of a 24 hour repair time is unreasonable for A/C repair in this state. I feel this type of repair in the summer should be considered an emergency. Two days prior to my A/C breaking, 20 dogs died in a facility when their A/C went out. When day time temps are 110+ on average and only cools down to the high 90's or 100's, no A/C can now become life threatening. I was disappointed with the response I got from the rep I spoke with from your company who had absolutely no understanding or consideration for my concern.
Because the A/C is my #1 reason for having this policy, I will look into other companies and their policies concerning how they handle such situations and if I can find one with a better policy I will change companies. I believe the concern to be that important. Thank you.

I was referred to American mechanical heating and air by American home shield. My appointment was for June 19, 2014 12-4. I received a phone called from receptionist (Debbie) to pay for service before rendered. She stated anything over $100.00 has to be paid in full before technician can come out. Wow, I never heard of such thing. Two young guys came out to repair ac less than 24 hours, ac still not working. I called the office the next day and spoke with the same receptionist. I explained to her situation, house is very hot and need for someone to come out and repair my ac. I was told they were booked for today and she can get me in first thing Monday.
This is not acceptable, been without ac for a month now. You guys already got paid for a job that is not complete. I have a infant and toddler in the house and I need to speak with a supervisor, that was not available, she was very rude and insensitive. As a result they came out four times before they finally got it right and each time was a different problem with the ac and American mechanical heating and air has been in business since 1996. Makes you wonder about momma and poppa joint. Why do I need home warranty If I got to pay for service and warranty. PLEASE BE VERY LEARY OF AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. STAY AWAY!!!!!!

Four years ago our central A/C-Heater broke. AHS sent out a repairman who said it could not be fixed. AHS replaced the entire unit. They saved the day. Now 4 years later the A/C is pumping out warm air and it's 107* degrees outside. As I write this I am waiting for the repair specialist to come. I am thankful to have AHS.

We have been with AHS for over 10 years. Because of our most recent experience, I would never recommend them to anyone, am telling everyone I know not to use their service and will not be renewing our service contract. We had a service call for a leaking water heater. After the technician took less than 5 minutes to assess the problem, he just left.
In numerous calls to AHS, always initiated by me or my husband, they denied our claim, said that it was customer lack of maintenance. I have spoken with at least 10 different plumbing entities and friends and no one, I repeat, NO ONE, has ever cleaned out their water heater annually. On an early conversation, the denial was overturned by Sally, but to date, we have never received a call back from anyone, even after making no less than 8 telephone calls to AHS and waiting at least 15 minutes on each instance. We were always assured that we would receive a call back - NOT ONE!!!!

I called the plumber direct .Told him about my hot water heater went out, on **. He told me to call AHS, and report the outage. I called AHS, they within minutes sent plumber an email with all the information. He fixed the hot water heater in less than 2 hours that I contacted AHS. Now that's service.

The air conditioning unit wasn't working. It took a couple of days for the repair guy to come out at our home, but it was resolved within a few hours. The contractor went above and beyond any expectations. Some companies in the past had been a nightmare and this company was anything but. They were awesome and it was totally unexpected. The unit is working great now. It was a pleasant experience with AHS. We had a lot of stress and concerns, but they got the problem solved in a timely manner. I've recommended them to two of my neighbors and know for a fact that one of them had signed up.

Water heater went out Thursday. I called American home shield Friday to request service. A service tech called Saturday morning to see if he could come out to look at the problem. He came out, diagnosed the problem & ordered a water heater installed Monday morning easy as that!

We have been with AHS 7-8 years already. Very pleased with the affordability, and the repairs and replacements provided. One thing to remember, some folks do not like the 'Service Fee'; however, if you call for repairs directly, in most instances, you will pay the fee anyway. Very satisfied with our experience. If I could offer AHS one suggestion, it would be to narrow the time for Heating/AC repairs to occur. I would recommend AHS to anyone concerned with cost and service.

I've had a/c problems for the last 4-5 years. Every A/C season, I'd call in to have my A/C repaired. All that would happen would be to recharge the refrigerant and say it's good. Finally, last year, Golden State Comfort recharged AND added dye to the system to locate the leak (that NO ONE took the time to do before). Well, a/c season hit this year and called in a repair. GSC came out and checked levels and the levels were low. They found the leak at the heat exchanger in the garage. While replacing the exchanger, he saw the inside of the FAU. The heat exchanger was cracked. That could have led to carbon monoxide poisoning. So, he replaced the FAU as well. We/and he, thought he fixed the system. Not. I had to call back in to have a tech come back out.
They sent out another contractor and I had to pay $75 again (AHS said I'd be refunded, but it's been 3 weeks and no refund). The contractor did something, said it was fixed. Well, it wasn't. I called AHS again and a 3rd contractor came out. He said it was the compressor. He ordered one and a week later, he came and installed it. I got charged $650 for refrigerant. My system HAS BEEN LEAKING FOR 4-5 YEARS and now I have to pay for it!?!?! Needless to say, I paid the contractor. Two days later, my system started doing the same thing. We’re just below triple digit temps and it took a week to have the contractor come out. He's supposed to show today. I told him just to bring a new outside unit and replace the whole stupid thing. I'M TIRED OF DEALING WITH AHS! THEY NEED TO FIX THE SYSTEM, NOT REPLACE IT ONE PART AT A TIME!!!!!!!!
So, I'll find out today and moving forward if my a/c system will be fixed. If not, AHS will probably make me wait a week with 100+ degree temps.... yeah, right. I will not recommend AHS to ANYONE. THIS REPAIR IS GOING INTO 3 MONTHS! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!! An un-happy customer.

On or around May 6 I filed a claim on several appliances, one of which was the washing machine and Ice maker. I have been getting a runaround between the contractor AHS sent out and AHS themselves. It has been over 2 months now and the items have NOT all been repaired. Not until I requested to take my auto renewal off did they FINALLY ask a supervisor permission for a different repair company.. Seriously!!! Now after 2 months you are going to attempt to help????

I have had American Home Shield (A.H.S.) for several years now. As a homeowner it is a product you must have. It provides peace of mind at an affordable price and service repairs are from local businesses who are prompt, courteous and professional. There are several experiences I would like to share but the bottom line is that they all had the same result. Most recently, my water heater failed to product hot water. The pilot light was on but the gas plate was not catching. I called A.H.S. and within 24 hours my water heater was up and running. All I paid was the home service charge for the repairman visit. It doesn't end there, two months later the water heater goes out again. I go to A.H.S online and submit the work order. Within 24 hours I have a scheduled service appointment and the next day the repairman shows at my door. The water heater was leaking water. A quick call for replacement authorization and my 40 Gallon water heater was replaced with a brand new one. Again, all I paid was the service visit charge. The response time is impeccable, my family can enjoy their hot baths and showers and I have the peace of mind knowing that my appliances are protected. Thank you! American Home Shield.

Advantage Air Mechanical was the assigned repair company. My first call was on 5/15. When I sent my first review I thought it was fixed. The repairman came out the same day and said he had to order a part. I was going out of town so he said he would put it in without me being there if need be. In the meantime, he said he wired it so it would work but not be dangerous. When I came back from my five-day trip, it was still working so I figured it was fixed and gave them a good review. Two weeks later it stopped working. I called them again and found out they not only hadn't repaired it, they hadn't ordered the part. They told me I had to wait for the part to come in over the weekend, in 100 plus temps. My house would get to 96 before it started cooling down after midnight. The part came in on Monday and it turned out to be the wrong part. He got it working temporarily again. They reordered the part but said it would take a week. The temp fix lasted a couple of days. In total I was without AC for ten days. It was horrible. The repairman Josh was very nice, but the company is on its face with too many calls and not enough competent people both in the office and on the streets to handle to work. You guys need to fix this. Please.

As part of our buying our home, the previous owner provided us with the AHS policy. The house has a large in ground pool. We have never owned a pool before and added the pool rider to our coverage. Any time we've had a question AHS had been there. Any time we've filed a claim they have been prompt, courteous and incredibly fair. I would recommend AHS in a second.

Been with them for 20 years because big repairs are never a surprise. I've seen a $600 part or more just get handled with only my regular customer co-pay. And if you have more trouble with an item within 30 days, they do not charge another co-pay. All in all, they are easy to work with, and easy to get service on your home.

Repairman came timely and said parts needed to be ordered, which would be done through Home Shield. Having heard nothing more for more than a week, I called Home Shield and was told the contractor should have told us the parts were being ordered and should take some time to come in. We await the arrival of the parts and the completion of the work. We have been with you for many years and this is the first time we have been dissatisfied with the treatment by a contractor.

I have been with American home shield for several years now. I recommend this warranty to everyone that has a home. They have been great to me. When I call them, they are right on it. They will set up everything for you and have somebody to call you right away to set up appointment with you. Then they will follow up with you to make sure the work was done to your satisfaction. If you don't have this today, I highly recommend that you get this today. I have not had a problem with them.

My water heater recently broke and one whole side of my home and garage was flooded. I contacted my Home Warranty company AHS and within 2 hrs. a plumber was there and the unit was replaced. I sure appreciated the fast, professional service. As this was the first time I had to use my warranty I am very impressed and plan on staying with AHS as long as I am in my home.

The ice maker in my refrigerator was INOP and it is leaking water on the floor. It took 4 visits, yes 4, to get the job done and each tech blames the other for doing a make shift job. Really. I opened the freezer door, it was frosted all over and water leaking after the 3rd visit. I could not get an emergency service repair, had to wait 2 more days. Terrible service for this repair.

Thank God for AHS. My Air Conditioner was not working. I called the people who installed my Heat Pump for service. They told me $1,300.00 and I asked for what and he stated for a coil. My husband and I discussed the cost and we forgot we had American Home Shield. To the rescue AHS. My heat pump needed Antifreeze and we have air and are happy with AHS services.

I have always been pleased with the response of the workers and quality of their work from American Shield. Disappointed that every renewal my rate has increased and my service call amount has increased. The purpose of this is to use it when needed. Your people are instructed to keep putting repairing old units as long as they can, which makes the consumer have to keep calling out service repairs - in the long run - would it not be cheaper in some instances to replace some of the units? I have had my AC/Furnace worked on at least 10 times since I have received this plan. Not once have you used a local contractor. Every guy has come from over 30 miles away. I am glad to have the plan; but wondering some of your money choices and wondering if you could save somewhere else rather than raising my rates and service call fees every year!

They have been great and all the vendors they use have completed warranty work exceptionally well and I now personally use some of the same vendors for home repairs not covered by my policy. I had to have a compressor replaced in one of my AC units which was done by AHS. During the process, they had to cut off the electricity and one of the breakers would not reset (30 years old). The AC guys were not certified to do electrical work, so they called AHS and reported it. I was called in a couple hours by an electrician who came the following day. He did not have a replacement breaker (all are now of a different design). He spent half a day replacing the outside breaker box and breakers with current design. Great service.

This second and third opportunities to deal with AHS first as landlord, second as a result of home purchase, and third as seller. There is now and never has been an issue with service providers. In the last six months span I have acquired a rural home with AHS policy provided and also purchased a policy as the seller of our former home in Fort Worth. I still do not feel comfortable that AHS understands these transactions. I have filed two small claims for the AC unit in the rural home and the automated system shows no policy for that zip code. Seems much more clumsy a process that need be--and certainly is not as seamless as the service end of your service. For what it's worth, I am not a micro-picker--I have been the VP of operations of a large multi-location heavy steel operation in two states and am very sensitive to small issues like this that can kill your business if left to simmer. I want AHS to continue to grow and be untouchable in the market place.

Technician who diagnosed problem reported we needed an 80,000 btu/hr heater. The repair firm who installed the heater was very difficult and was not professional at all. The heater that was installed was only rated for 66,000 btu/hr. Policy reads to repair or replace. The heater was over a 10% decrease in heating abilities. Very sorry service on both the warranty company and the repair firm. Would not recommend the repair firm or the warranty company.

I've been a customer for a number of years. At one time I even had 3 properties covered in different states. The two investment properties had them covered for a few years and never used it on one and only used it once on the other house. I paid for years of coverage but didn't use it. It's been a valuable service for me but in the past 2 years when I did use it, the repairs were minor and not worth the monthly premium and copay. The last 3 times I used it the repairs were minor and wouldn't have cost the $75 deductible let alone the monthly fee. The repairman was in and out in 15 minutes. It has been worth it in the past but I'm not sure if I'm going to continue the service. The copay goes up each year and so doesn't the premium. I'm paying about $900 yearly.

One of the springs in our garage door broke and so I did the calling online and did everything automated. Within probably 20 to 30 minutes I received a phone call from the D&G Garage Door Service company and the contractor was going to be able to get me in on Saturday. We were going out of town so then he set me in at the next available slot which was on Tuesday and he got me in at 9 o'clock that morning.
He was business-like. He came out and assessed the situation and then he also did show me two other areas that I might want to have improved something and have something replaced and I could see what he was talking about and where it was. I did that. He fixed them and finished their job, and did the paperwork, gave me the receipt and I gave them a check and that was that. Overall, I was very pleased and it was very easy to get my problem solved.

I'm very happy with American Home Shield. The two times I've used their service, one was for the oven microwave and the other one was for heater pump, the contractors came out and did what they were supposed to do. Both contractors were very professional. They've done their job quickly and cleaned up after the job was done. Everything went well. So far, I haven't had any more problems with those appliances. They work like new.

Generally it's been a good experience submitting a claim to American Home Shield. The quality of service has always been good and speedy. Their reps were good, nice and pleasant. I, however, cancelled my most recent claim with them because when I read through my paperwork, I saw it was something that they didn't cover and I didn't want to spend $75 just so they'd tell me they wouldn't cover it. But overall, AHS has given us great and fast service.

One fine night during summer of 2014, Mercury fell so low that I have to switch on heating. But to my surprise central Heating didn't work. Then I checked cooling..... same thing. I filed a complaint with AHS (worth mentioning that I brought this warranty less than a month ago). I have been assigned with a firm that will work on my case with all details including phone number by email within an hour. I called them and found that they scheduled me for one week later as their is no slot in-between (that's really bad). Finally tech. came & resolved my issue within an hour. Issue found that my blower was not working. He fixed it & unit is back to normal heating and cooling. No doubt my 1st experience was very pleasant with AHS.

I had service with AHS for years and finally cancelled due to POOR service both on the phone and from the company. They sent out to see the issues with my furnace. The 'professional' that looked at my furnace said there were no holes in the cells, but when the real professionals from the company that took it apart and took the time to clearly show us the THREE cracks, they saw in the original inspection! I decided at that time I no longer trusted this company to have people handle things correctly, only cheaply.
When I called to cancel it took 3 months to finally get a cancellation letter. NOW I have received a collection letter about this because the rep that I talked to cancelled the renewal and not the 'existing' contract. When I had to call AGAIN to tell them that my contract was cancelled and finally figured out this was an 'error' on their part, I asked for their rep's name so I could make sure I had something to relay when they mess up again, but was promptly hung up on. It shocks me that after I was told that I would receive a check for the $200 that their 'pro' would have been paid for the supposed fix or the $60 for the space heaters, in which I received NEITHER. I have never been so upset, offended, and completely dissatisfied with a company.

Our A/C went out the first time we tried it. They said someone would call me within 24 hrs, they did not. It was 2 days. Then they said they could not come to service us for a week. Long story short, they sent a con-artist to our house who told us one thing, and AHS another. AHS would not stand by us. They put us on hold for over 2 hours in 2 days!!! This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Please, please never use this company! They will not cover anything. The service provider told us we need a new system and the old one can't be repaired, but told AHS it could be repaired. Then they told us AHS would not cover anything and we had to pay $4000 out of our own pocket. AHS did not believe us. They talked and talked in circles. We asked to speak to a supervisor, and they put us on never-ending hold twice! They are run around scam artists. Period. I would give this company zero stars if I could.

When we bought our house, our realtor really pushed for us to get an AHS warranty. We weren't going to do it, but when the sellers agreed to pay half, we consented. I think the cost was $600. When our A/C wasn't cooling properly, we submitted a service request. No one called or showed up. After two or three weeks, my husband called and someone came the next day. He cleaned the unit out and added 1 1/2 lbs of refrigerant. We had to pay a $75 service fee plus $26 for freon ($110 total) b/c AHS only covers $10/lb for freon. So now I'm wonder why we paid hundreds of dollars for a warranty so that we could save $15 off the cost of freon. What a waste of money! This company obviously makes money so the customers are the ones losing.

because the unit was outside behind a tall fence. So then I had to call American Home Shield and get somebody else out to look at the place. He came out and fixed it supposedly and within two days, it had gone out again. So he came back a few days later and had to replace the valve that was in there and it seems to be working fine now.
The claims representative also were very attentive and they worked very quickly. When I called back to tell them that the person didn't have the ladder and then the guy didn't fix it, they came out the following day. Also, shortly after I bought the house, the motor went out on the dishwasher and they had guys out the next day and they fixed it immediately. Every time I've had to use them, they've been very, very good. I'm very satisfied.

The timeliness of the contractor through American Home Shield (AHS) is awesome. Depending on the problem, once requested service is in, someone calling you within a day or two. We have experienced no problems with any contractors that have been dispatched to our home. Very reputable individuals doing quality work have been the norm. Once there and problem diagnosed, if there is a reason why the contractor has to return because of parts that need to ordered, etc., they always explain everything and answer any questions that need to be answered.

In regards to my former complaint with AHS concerning Quality Assurance and violating their warranty contract, my issue has been resolved somewhat.
Shay from AHS called to express her concerns and to try and resolve my legitimate complaint. In all honesty, I feel that she was sincere throughout our conversation and allowed me to express my concerns fully and assured me that my concerns would reach a higher level within the company. I would like to thank Shay for calling me but I do feel the effort to resolve my complaint was brought forth due to Consumer Affairs.
I only give this experience 3 stars due in fact because I strongly feel that American Home Shield and its managers are not doing enough to assure that the quality and professionalism of the contractors they hire meet the expectations and confidence of their customers. AHS also needs to realize that the contractor they hire is not always correct in their diagnosis. Case in point: An AHS contractor diagnosis that my ac system had a bad circuit board and I was quoted retail price of the circuit board at $975.00. I went to other vendors and found the price of the same circuit board to be less than 1/3 of the quoted price. After 9 days without ac, I brought in another contractor of my choosing and expense. The contractor found that the water in the float trap was backing up to the safety float switch and cutting ac system off as a safety precaution. Contractor cleaned float trap out and ac system has been purring every since. Total cost, my contractor, $178.00 vs. $975.00 plus labor with AHS contractor and ac still would not have worked.
AHS needs to establish a Quality Assurance program other than a survey that monitors the quality assurance of a contractor after so many complaints have been received on said contractor and start listening to your customers. You may not think so, but many times, they are right!

As a Realtor, I read reviews and picked AHS. I had a good experience signing up (because they want your money). I even referred my mom to AHS. She has had nothing but a horrible experience and it pains me that I can't do anything to help. It all started when her tenants called about the AC. We live in Arizona and AHS promised someone would contact my mom within 24 hours to fix the AC. After 24 hours, no one called. My mom called and the girl said that there was nothing she could do. My mom requested a supervisor and the rude service rep informed her that a supervisor was not available.
Long story short.... They made my mom pay $600 to fix the AC and promised (we have an email to prove this) that she would be reimbursed. She has not received her money and every time she calls AHS, they give her the run around. She has left numerous messages with a supervisor, none of which have returned her calls!! Beware and read the reviews carefully. Many people have had this same issue and I did not take it seriously when I read in the beginning, but now that it's happened to us, these reviews are accurate. Some people have had good experiences, but if you have an issue or question with AHS, be prepared for a headache. My mom still has to pay her premium, but has not seen the money promised to her regarding her AC repair!!!!!

We had one little claim with the air conditioning. It was freezing up and the second one was our washing machine. It made horrible noises and didn't run right. The problem started one day and so I called right away. My experience in submitting a claim was perfect. The first time I called on the phone. I did everything over the phone computer. It went very well and the second time, I didn't even turn my computer off and I got already the phone call from the maintenance guy. It was very fast.
Both contractors were pretty good, professional. They're on time what they told when they would come. They did a good job on the AC as well as the washing machine. No problems at all - everything is working now. My whole experience working with American Home Shield was perfect - the professional handling on the phone with the company directly especially on the computer. The computerized method system is very easy to go through. For me stuff like that is always a little hard.

Filed service request online late on a Wednesday night when our air conditioner went out (I live in Texas - this is a big deal in the summer months!). Service company called and would be 3 days before they could make it out. Tech was rude and said he wasn't going to fix it. I complained and AHS sent the case to "Cash Out" department and I was told they would contact me within the next day to tell me how much they were going to pay me to have the AC fixed. After a week, and four angry calls to AHS later (still with no AC remember!) the Cash Out department FINALLY called...only to tell me that I have to have the repairs done, THEN send them the receipt detailing what repairs were done and only THEN would they issue me a reimbursement check.
My complete condenser unit (the outside AC thing with the compressor, coils and fan) needed to be replaced. I was told that they would reimburse me UP TO $865 - yep eight hundred stinking dollars. I was quoted by another AC company that it will cost $2,030 just to replace the outside unit. Why on earth did it take this company a full week and a day to call me and tell me that I have to have it fixed and send in the receipt? And why on earth do I pay $500+ dollars a year for a home warranty, PLUS a $75 service call fee, when they will only pay a fraction of what it will cost me to fix the problem? You can bet I will be cancelling my contract right after I get my AC fixed! This is the biggest waste of money I think I've ever spent!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! You will regret it!

I've had American Home Shield for years so I have a lot more experience with them. My most recent claim was for the toilet in the bathroom. I called them in when I found out about the problem. They had someone contact me the very same day. They were out here at the time they said they would be here and did a good job in repairing it. Something in the tank was broken so they replaced it. Now the unit is performing like new.

I had a dishwasher that was leaking and flooding my kitchen. After calling AHS they contacted Grace contracting. It was determined that indeed it was my dishwasher that was leaking and had mold growing in the Island. Grace contracting did the dry out, removed the dishwasher and placed it in the backyard. I got an call and email from AHS stating that the water damage was not covered, which I understood. I have since had the island and all the water damage repaired. Today was my 3rd contact to AHS to have the original problem (dishwasher) replaced. I was told that since the dishwasher is not installed, that they will not service it. I was even told to have the broken dishwasher installed and then they would service it. Now they are calling Grace contracting to confirmed that they did indeed remove the dishwasher. I explained that they did the dry out and they had to remove the dishwasher to complete the dry out.
AHS are having trouble getting Grace contracting to even respond. I have already paid the trip fee, I have already paid Grace for the dry out. AHS keeps telling me that they will contact me. Not once have I heard back from them. I called them every time and every time they try Grace will not response back from them. All I want is my Dishwasher replaced. It's obvious and a easy resolution, there is no reason to be difficult. Hold yourself accountable and hold your contractors accountable. I am the customer. I should not have to wait for you to talk to your own company that you contracted out to my house. Unacceptable and Horrible customer experience.

AHS won't cover anything that cost money! I had to pay $1200 to install a clean out system which I was told would solve the issue - my clogged pipes. The pipes are still clogged and I was told that I now need to pay $180 for each toilet to be removed and cleared! AHS has not paid for anything since I started having plumbing issues. I honestly don't have a reason to renew my plan with them.

This is the first time we have had a home warranty for a home we purchased and I am so grateful the sellers purchased it, because it was a waste of money! We have had several issues with this home, improper installation and some sort of water back-up (gray water), and every single time they find some reason not to cover it! I am not lacking in intellect and have written and negotiated my share of contracts. There are several areas in their contract that would allow for repair of the issues at hand and we are at almost 100% failure to cover. The plumbing issue is still outstanding and we have asked for another company since the first was incompetent. Lastly, out of all of my phone calls, only one representative I spoke with had what I would consider acceptable customer service skills. I would not recommend this company, ever. Their entire focus is to do everything within their power to not cover the repair or replacement.
