I made a claim for somebody to come out to fix my electricity. They came out on more than one occasion, usually at night. They couldn't find the problem initially. Then the second company did come out. They found the problem but they jury-rigged it. They indicated on the receipt that I might need a rewire and I never even saw that on a receipt. They didn't tell me it might need a rewire. I need an electrician out here before I had a short and the house burned down. So I wound up getting another, at my own expense. They said I could file a claim but I was so annoyed with them, I just said "I don't want you to do this anymore for me." So my bill was paid on time.
So my complaint with them is I had to get Weeks Electricity to do the job for me. And I don't have my paperwork right now. I brought Weeks out and it cost me over $850 out of my pocket to fix it. And they could have done that for me, had it been brought to my attention. I also had a claim with my air conditioning in my house in New Mexico and it was done by HVAC rep. I went round and round for weeks before an American Home Shield representative turn it over to corporate. Once they turned it over to corporate, I got a response and the people went out there and fixed the job the right away. But it took me weeks and I can’t remember how many calls. I’m not real hopeful that they’ll do anything about it; they said they would but I’m out of contract with them now, although this took place during the contract period in my house here in Houston.
There should not have been any delays or issues with you receiving service in a timely manner James. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the inconvenience. We will work on improving our services.

We filed two claims in a row with American Home Shield: plumbing and electrical. And both have been excellent. Really great and they fixed it right away. One was a garbage disposal which was leaking; it was old. It got replaced and they did a nice job on that. For the electrical, the repairman came for the problem and a couple of circuits weren't working. He made sure everything was okay. They both did a good job. Everything's good so far and I'll continue using them. I'm very satisfied.
Anthony it was a pleasure reading about your experience with your electrical and garbage disposal service requests. Thank you for sharing.

Every time I called somebody on the phone, everybody's always really nice and friendly, and the people come out and fix whatever they need to fix. I've been a customer for about a year and a half and have called them three or four times and I'm just thrilled with them. I definitely will recommend them and do recommend them to anybody.

The problem started right in the beginning of the season where the ac wound up having a small leak somewhere. It worked good for about a month and then the AC was struggling so I called American Home Shield. There were no problems submitting the claim. The contractor that they sent out was excellent. Actually he had come to the house previous on a claim and I requested to have him come back again. Everything was great. I've been with AHS now for about a year. I call up and they take care of my claim and they don't give me any hassles or surprises.
Great Dennis! We value your feedback and it is wonderful to know that your experience was hassle-free! Thank you!

I have had a contract with American Home Shield for over 10 years. I called on Friday 10/24/14 to get service for a leak in my garage. I thought it might be my hot water heater. I was told I would have service on Monday. That was fine until I woke up Saturday morning with a flooded bathroom. I called AHS to try to get someone in earlier. I had to turn the water off the whole house. When I spoke to AHS customer service I was told there were only 2 plumbers in Broward County that worked with AHS, and they would try to get someone from a 50-mile radius. I have since spoken to at least 8 people at AHS and still no service. It is now Sunday afternoon and I am still without water. Not only have they been unable to provide service they canceled the company who was originally coming to repair my problem. I have now been told that the original company might be able to squeeze me in on Monday. I am a 74-year-old widow without water for two days now and no real resolution to my problem in the near future.
We are sorry to hear that you feel there is no resolution for your issue. However, we have a specialist team that works with customers to form the perfect solution when needed. I will be more than glad to have a specialist contact you Virginia.

My dishwasher drawer would not open and I submitted a claim online. The contractor they sent out was fine. I did have to call him as he didn't call me for a while and I wanted it to get fixed. He came the next day but he had to get a part and was back in a couple of days. He told me exactly when he would be back so it was a good situation. American Home Shield has been very good about getting things turned around. It definitely gives peace of mind to know you have something that you know what you're going to pay every time someone comes to fix something. I've recommended it to some people.

Our recent claim was for the air conditioner. Submitting this claim was okay but I had problems thereafter. Iceman, the company that was sent out, replaced a coil and got the unit working. But approximately 6 days later, the unit stopped working and that same company went out again. The technician who went out, diagnosed the problem as neglect. So American Home Shield wouldn't cover the expenses to repair it because they said it was caused by neglect. That's what's puzzling me. How can it happen? Someone went out there and got it working. How can it stop because of neglect? As a result, what I needed was a new unit...
Talking to an additional company that went out, because I asked for a second ruling, the second company also said neglect which made sense. But he also told me that the company who made the unit, went out of business 30 years ago. So that unit had to be at least 30 years old and it was a freon-based unit which they don't use anymore, so what freon they can get is very expensive...
In the end I had to pay for a new unit. I got another company independent of American Home Shield who went out and did it in one day. They replaced the unit, put a whole new unit in and got rid of the old. The old unit was gonna go shortly anyway. But, once again when Iceman repaired it, replaced a coil or something of that nature, and then 6 days later it stops working, same guy goes out, it just blows my mind. It’s very confusing. So my problem now is that I really feel as though American Home Shield should be paying for this. That's what I pay them for. And I don't send repair people out, they do. They select them, they send them out, and this is what I wind up for. So it's kind of disappointing to put up with this pile.
Hi Randy thank you for taking the time to share your experience. If you have a copy of the invoices concerning both the AHS contractor and your service contractor who installed the unit, please forward those in for review. We would like to make things right, and if the service contractor from AHS did any work on the coils, before making their final report, we would like to research this issue.

The contractor sent by American Home Shield was excellent. He came out, did it and had to re-do some plumbing that wasn't covered by the insurance. He said he gave me the exact price it would be, left to go get the stuff, came back in about 15 minutes and finished it all up, and it was great. He charged me exactly what he told me he was going to. It was a great experience. It was fast and just as expected.

I had a compressor put on my air conditioner, and the compressor went out within 30 days. We were having a problem with who was supposed to rectify the situation. This issue went on for 24 days without me having an air conditioner in my house, and I told them I had a health condition and I have three young kids: about 1, 2 and 5. At that time, it was 107 degrees outside so it was worse inside my house. I've been with AHS for a while and I've never been late on my payment. I've always been a good customer. I was shocked at the way it was handled.
Everybody would say something about American Home Shield, and I was the one sticking up for them. But now I understand what they're saying. I don't want to be like that because I like having that extra faith in my mind if something happens. But I just couldn't believe it when they told me to go out and purchase portable air conditioner. And I purchased them. Then they told me it wasn't written down that they told me to purchase the air conditioner. I told them that "If it wasn't written down, how would I know the number for reimbursement? How would I know this information if somebody didn't give it to me from American Home Shield? How would I know the address?" One lady told me that they'll reimburse me $100 and I said okay.
My biggest issue was that I had to wait 24 days to get a working air conditioner. I have a 2,800 square feet house. It's a two-story, so it was hot. Everybody was sick, and they said they would try and get the part. I even volunteered to go pick up the part for them because it was unbearable in the house, and my husband went out and purchased the portable air conditioners. I said "Honey, you should have went on and just bought a new air conditioner." So now I got three portable air conditioners in my house, probably totaled at $1,500 in my household so that the house could be livable during that time that we didn't have air.
I felt like no one cared. Because there's no way in the world you want to come out, sit up in a house with 100 degrees outside and no air condition for 24 days. I felt that they didn’t do what they had said in print. But before this experience, I had a great, great experience. But this last experience did me in.
Thank you for sharing your experience. The service you experienced during the summer should have been complete with better results. We do not cover for portable air conditioners, so the representative was offering a courtesy reimbursement. We do appreciate your loyalty though.

I recently decided to try AHS as my previous Home Warranty company was a disappointment. My contract date took effect almost three weeks after I signed up. Two days into my contract, the motor on my blower for the furnace system started making a whistling noise. A tech came out and told me it was about to go out and would need to be replaced. He stated it was wear and tear. He needed to take the blower to the shop to have the motor pulled off and new one installed with a capacitator.
Upon his return the following day, AHS informed me that this would not be covered by my contract because it may have been deteriorating prior to the start of my contract. In theory, this is true for all HVAC systems and appliances as they age. I was told that a mechanical test could have detected that it was going out prior to my contract start date and I would be denied under section A.2.d. I pointed out that my contract states specifically that such items are covered under A.2.d. "Undetectable pre-existing conditions which are defects or mechanical failures that could not have been detected by a visual inspection and/or simple mechanical test. A simple mechanical test is defined as turning the item on and off to ensure that it is operational. While turned on, the item should operate without causing damage, irregular sounds, smoke, or other abnormal outcomes."
My AC unit and the blower were working after my contract began. Using the definition of "simple mechanical test", the part passed. Yes, being "on" may have caused damage to the motor. However, a part that endures wear and tear will be damaged over time. I was told a second tech could be sent out to my house for another opinion. If the opinion was different, AHS would replace the part and not charge me for the 2nd tech's visit. Why would a second tech not have the same opinion that the part could have been failing for several days? My tech was charging a couple hundred dollars to AHS to fix the part. Instead, I had to pay double the price because AHS did not want to hold its end of the agreement.
I am very disappointed in this Company and Home Warranty companies in general. Negative stars would be given if possible.
We appreciate the opportunity to address your situation, Robert,.We apologize for any inconvenience and will use your feedback to improve our policies and services. We look forward to helping you, someone from our team will reach out to you shortly.

However I came home during the repair and was very impressed with the level of service, the technician not only repaired the shorted out wire and replaced the capacitor, he took the time to clean out the condenser. He checked the Freon level and installed a couple of pounds. He then came inside and checked the temperature coming out of the vents and stayed while the system cycled. Last night, I concluded a very disappointing phone call with a very unhelpful associate from American Home Shield named Tiffany. I decided to cancel my warranty because I have taxes due on three properties come December 1st, and really need every bit of cash.
I requested cancellation via email three days prior to billing (10/21/14), and received a response, via email from a live associate of AHS named Shantevies stating I would be contacted. If my card info had been removed right then and there, I would not have been billed the afternoon/evening of 10/23/14. Strike 1 where an employee failed to do their job. I then received a voice mail earlier in the day on 10/23/14 while I was at work, from the retention department, who also failed to remove my payment information. Strike 2, second employee did not due the simple task of removing my payment info. Consequently, the transaction of $52.30 on my Visa card was withdrawn the afternoon/evening of 10/23.
Upon seeing this transaction, I contacted American Home Shield and spoke to a representative named Tiffany. I asked a number of things from this rep, who failed to do any of them:
1. Cancel my account/provide a refund (could not/would not issue a refund)2. Provide an email address for the CEO/Corporate office (only had a mailing address, even though the whole global/transnational society does email)
3. Find me a supervisor that could take my call (apparently this call center did not have a supervisor on shift)
4. Transfer me to the retention department.
Strike 3, 3rd employee did not assist. When I saw the call was going downhill, I recorded it via my laptop, and advised Tiffany that it will be released to the national/social media to ensure no other customers get taken by this company. I also emailed the VP of Communications for ServiceMaster Peter **, but he only forwarded my email to customer service. 4 separate employees passed the buck in this case, apparently to keep my account from being cancelled, it appears this is the practice of AHS to force customers to stay.
I fully expect that Tiffany and Shantevies and the rep who called today will have their employment terminated, as this refund could have been handled at any juncture in between. I do not appreciate any kind of elongation or attempt to keep from issuing a genuine cancellation request. I will be creating a blog about AHS today, where I will post the audio of the conversation. I will also keep looking for Mark **, the CEO's email address.

This has been the most pathetic service I have received in ages! After a refrigerator in my house stopped working, a contractor was sent to my house twice, the first visit cost me $75 and it was unsuccessful, the second visit was the same. Customer service agents politely promised to send out yet another contractor, I've called twice and I'm still waiting, 4 weeks later! I'm thinking of canceling my policy. Disgusted.

However, I called because no one did not call me to confirm to me the fees I had to pay. I was very concerned about that.

Our most recent claim for AHS was for our electrical outlet that weren't working. I did submit a claim through online and it was very easy. The contractors they sent came right away and fixed the problem. And subsequently I had to call them back because whatever he did when he put the new outlet in, it broke the box. They just came out again yesterday and repaired that. It's been pretty good but I think their service charge of $75 is a little excessive but you know it's what you get.

Usually when you call the general line and get the general folks, they’re not quite as helpful. They don’t necessarily go the extra mile, or they don’t have as much authority to do anything. But I’ve had mostly very, very good experience with American Home Shield. There used to be Beau and she used to be in the corporate office (She’s no longer there. It’s Susan who is there now and has helped me the last time.) When I would call Beau, she would immediately take care of everything for me and her follow-up was amazing. I was actually really sorry to hear that she left recently.
Overall my experience is certainly good enough. But I’ve gone through like a rush of problems there for a while.
My recent claim was for my dishwasher that apparently just stopped working. It seems like a repeat of the problem that I had had several months prior so I was a little frustrated with that. It was doing the same thing. It was leaving water in the bottom, which was stinky, and the electrical panel wasn’t functioning properly / going through all the cycles appropriately. So I placed the claim online. It was in the evening when I come home from work. The next day I got in and they had it assigned but the contractor couldn’t come out for 4 or 5 days. So I called back and I said, “Well, I’ve used Apple Appliance before and I already called them. They can come out today. Is there anyway I can use Apple Appliance?” And they said no. “I thought you allowed Apple Appliance to come out to my home before?” But they wouldn’t.
The guy that I talked to wasn't as helpful and he didn’t really explain why they couldn’t and I don’t know if Apple Appliance wasn’t any longer on their list. He didn’t take the time to explain it. When I called back, Susan then took the time to fully explain why we couldn’t go with Apple, that there really didn’t appear to be anybody who'd come any sooner.
As it was, we just waited until the people could come in 4 or 5 days. It took longer for the repair to happen but they were able to fix it and the dishwasher seems to be working now. So I’m still very satisfied and definitely refer American Home Shield to other people and brag about it. I love them. I’ve had them now for probably about 8 years. I would absolutely continue it and plan on doing so. I definitely appreciate, being a single mom and having the comfort of knowing that at best it's $75 that way.

I am starting to wonder if this company is one massive scam. Three times American Home Shield has weaseled out of repairing the items that are under their warranty. The first time our garbage disposal wasn't working and they sent a service man. He went straight to the sink, sketchily pulled out a beer bottle cap (neither my husband nor I ever drink beer), and said "you burned the garbage disposal by putting a bottle cap in there". He quoted a large amount to replace the unit. Luckily we didn't agree to that. A few days later we discovered the reset switch was off, we flipped the switch and our garbage disposal is still working fine.
The next time the air conditioner was not working due to a fuse that had burned up. The service man noticed a small plastic pot on the side of the unit and said that the overheating was a result of storing a pot by the unit and refused to cover it. It was so hot we relented. This time our refrigerator was not working and we called them. The repair man said "Evaporator coils clogged and compressor seized due to lack of air flow, Overheated." The insurance would not cover to repair it saying "we had not maintained it" because we failed to open the back of the refrigerator, remove the cover and clean the coils inside.
Their pattern is they fix small things which are less than the deductible of $75, but when they have to pocket something for a bigger repair they come up with some questionable excuse not to repair it. I am very disappointed with the service I have got from American Home Shield lately.
Suhanthi we apologize for your experiences. If you have doubts and concerns about a service contractor, always remember that there is option for a second opinion. A second opinion can confirm a diagnosis so that the customer will have a chance to get two different contractors out to diagnose. If the second contractor determines the first contractor misdiagnosed, then we go with the second contractor's diagnosis. Since we are not technicians we rely on their expertise of what failed and why, but never feel that you cannot challenge what they report. I have multiple houses and multiple policies with A.H.S. In many calls the repairman does not show up for days. If you have no hot water, OR Heat, you're just plain out of luck until their repairman. Keeps you last on his list. You pay $100 or more for repair but most repairs are about that. Forget about getting new equipment. They make it very hard to qualify. I have paid this company $700 a year for 13 years and when I put a claim in the guy shows up couple days or more - has to get authorization. Takes week. So you're out of a needed appliance for two weeks when local guy fixes it in 24 hours. Purchased policy for an apartment building. Hot water heater blows. Repairman NEVER shows in 4 days. Tenants angry. Had it fixed locally. Water heater ruptured. And they refuse to pay. Malus send you denial of claim With no telephone number to grieve. Get switched around to different departments, no response from email. I have paid them maybe $15,000 in premiums for three properties plus $1400 repair out of pocket service charges and they deny a Bonafide repair. Take money and put away for breakage instead.

Had issue with unit, they sent out a tech. He misdiagnosed the problem and only after I asked a few questions found the evaporator coil to be faulty. Three trips later he replaced. Still not cool. AHS said we would be reimbursed $X if we affected the repair ourselves. We did and when asked for the reimbursement, they said they don't pay out like that. Bottom line is my wife suffered in the AZ heat with her MS for two weeks due to AHS not performing their jobs as per their contract with us. While she had a relapse, we were left to pay out of pocket for a new unit ($7K). My wife's health would have been better served had we not had coverage and simply had the repair done ourselves. AHS was a negative from every standpoint I can see or imagine. All we got for our money was a tech who couldn't fix the problem and lies from the company saying they would pay for repairs then saying they never do anything like that.
The only straight answer we have gotten to date is, "we will look into that". To what end? Oh and unreturned phone calls and emails - so that's something else we got for our money. They knew my wife's health was at stake and still they did nothing except to tell me they would pay a cash out price if we went out of pocket to repair the unit. Which, considering my wife's health, we did. Then they come back with, "we never do that". So they had us pay for the repair for them?!? Interesting move AHS. I was thrilled with it because the fee has gone up by $5, but it's still well worth the money for the whole year for all the appliances. In three years that I've had it on this house, I've used it twice before for the air conditioning. To pay just that minimal fee and have everything fixed - and they were here right away and the people that they contact are absolutely wonderful - has just been a great experience.
AHS sends very reliable people. They know what they're doing, it's not any of these fly-by-nighters. I'm very comfortable with them, they clean up after themselves. It's just been a very pleasant experience, all three times I've used them. I tell my friends it's very important to have them because you never know when you're gonna have a problem. I wasn't sure where it was coming from, but assumed it was a broken or leaking pipe under the floor since I could not locate it. I called American Home Shield first, but they could not get anyone to me until the next day. They also stated there were no guarantees of repair and they could not do anything if the problem was inside of my walls. I had to pay a local plumber over $500.00 to get it resolved that day, because the alternative would have been a ruined upstairs floor & ceiling. Because of this, I was reluctant to continue my membership. I waited to pay the bill because I wanted to discuss it with my wife first. As a result, I got busy, forgot about it, and received a collection letter in the mail. Even though it was my fault, I of course, didn't care for the tone of the letter.
On Oct. 2nd, I called the number on the letter to express my discontent, pay my bill, and cancel my account. I was able to do two of three, but was told I had to speak to the Retention Department to cancel. I waited on hold for a while, and finally left a number for a return call. Apparently, someone finally called back two days later, but I was busy at work, didn't recognize the number, and didn't answer. Today, I received another letter, dated Oct 14th asking for a 3 month payment, even though I had already made the payment earlier this month. The lady explained that only the current payment was due, even though I asked for my account to be canceled. She connected me to the Retention Department again, where you guessed it, I waited on hold for 46 minutes before finally hanging up. There is only a number to a call center that can only take notes and that consistently always gets things wrong and does not follow up as agreed. In my case an AHS contractor did an incorrect and dangerous installation of a ceiling fan that was falling off the ceiling putting my family in danger. I called AHS to send another company that would confirm the danger and the incorrect installation and correct it. It was agreed with AHS that I would not pay another copay as the problem was created by AHS in the first place. Despite this agreement AHS keeps sending past due bills for an amount that was agreed I would not pay. Repeated calls to the hotline lead to nothing. They promise to follow up and then nothing happens.
Call center agents are incompetent. After explaining the full case they put you on hold and come back and say: "We confirmed you haven't paid yet." The entire call was about that we had an agreement that I would not pay for correcting the inappropriate and dangerous work an AHS contractor did. So the call center agent obviously does not understand the simple request in the first place. Repeatedly promised follow ups are not happening. It is not possible to escalate a case or to talk to AHS directly. I will cancel my service and can advise everyone not to contract AHS if you would want to spare yourself hours of frustration on the phone.
We sincerely apologize about your experience with your ceiling fan service work order! We appreciate your feedback and would like to make things right. We’ll schedule someone from our Service Resolution team to contact you within 48 hours for a solution.

I have had two occasions to use my AHS contract in the last 12 months and both times they took care of the problems as promised. In both cases the contractors were a bit slow to respond because of our remote location to the contractors home base, but they did take care of the problems as per the contract. I plan to renew my contract when it comes up for renewal 2 months.

My most recent utilization of AHS was to have an inspection of my heat pumps. It was found that one of the air exchange modules was defective and needed to be replaced. Since the system had been installed by Sears and was new, the warranty covered the repairs but only because the response from the AHS contractor gave the specifics of the defect and Sears had no alternative but to make good on their warranty. Thanks you, AHS.

I have two policies with AHS for two houses. Submitting the claim with them was very easy. They're wonderful, always very, very courteous and helpful. I've actually called to complain once or twice and they have always been very easy to deal with. They listened to me and calmed me down and explained. The contractors they sent out were very knowledgeable, very focused and easy. American Home Shield is a fabulous company. They always do a very good job, and if for some reason the trades person doesn't finish the work completely, they immediately send over somebody else who will.

I have been a customer of AHS for over 10 years, but have had the need to use their services only a few times thus far.
Earlier this year (in June 2014), there was a blockage in the water pipeline leading to the shower. Though the contract lists the coverages to include 'Plumbing stoppages', the AHS representative stated that any 'repair work' related to the faucets are not covered. In order for the technician to check the water flow, the technician is required to remove (unscrew the shower head). I was told that it is not covered!!!
Other than using AHS, I regularly have the Air conditioning unit tuned twice a year (once for summer and once for winter). The most recent AC tune-up was done in early Oct 2014 through ARS. The technician who carried out the tune-up service documented the 'Air flow issues'. Earlier (in Sept. 2012), the service provider, Kozy services (through AHS), had replaced the 'Evaporator coil' in the AC unit, when they re-did the ducts. I don't believe it was inspected / certified by the city / town (I came to know about the need to have ANY AC repair work inspected / certified by the City of FM through the ARS technician).
Now (Oct 2014), the ducts for the airflow in the Air conditioning unit was giving way (a few connections opening up in addition to sagging). A technician from Kozy services (through AHS) visited my residence to inspect the AC unit, when I did mention the issue in question (related to / caused by the 'incomplete' previous work on the AC unit by the same service provider in Sept. 2012). Now, I am told by AHS representative that the duct work is not covered as it is not related to any mechanical failure!
As a common man (customer), I was under the impression that any work, as listed in the Contract is covered. However, it is not. I am very disappointed with AHS due my recent experiences. With too many catches, I don't believe it is worth their services (After having paid the annual contract fee and the service fee for the technician's visit each time). I am close to deciding to cancel my contract with AHS.
As I am writing this review, I have been placed on hold for over 30 minutes as I await to speak to an AHS CSR.
Hi Manivannan, thank you for giving us the opportunity to research this issue. Someone from our resolution team will contact you on today after further review of this service request history.

So far, my experience with American Home Shield has been good. They seem to go up in their price every year as far as what you pay the contractor when he comes out. I started out at about $55. Now I'm up to about $75. This has been in the last three years. We have had problems maybe one time in the last six years, out of the repair guys that they had sent out. But once I called them back and told them about it, I've never seen them come back out for anything since then. The people they contract with were on time. And other than one occasion, they have been extremely professional with their work.
I have choices because I can either go on the Internet or like right now I'm at work, I do with my cell phone. I can call them from my cell phone and once I call them, it's pretty much handled. They call me back to make sure that the person came out on time and did what they had to do. Sometimes I get three phone calls from American Home Shield to make sure that the repairman did his job. They always want to know how he reacted, what was the interaction he had between us. With the price, that’s just the way I feel. That’s society these days. I'm not going to cancel them because of that. Overall, I am very satisfied. I've had them out for a number of things and never had a problem with those guys - Never. I have recommended them to co-workers that have homes and they have issues. I keep telling them, get a home warranty. Go to American Home Shield.
That's great news Larry! We are happy to have you recommend our warranty company and have you as a loyal customer. We look forward to handling any future service needs.

Overall, I have old appliances. The home warranty has proven its worth. I have had a garage door replaced, leaky shower valve (had to fix the drywall damage, but I was fine with that), washer clutch, dry fix, and new garbage disposal. I do not call for small issues (75 copay and that is not me) but my house is built in 76 with most appliances being 10yrs or older. Plumbing fixes and garage door has went well. My issue is small appliance fixes. AHS gets a great deal from Sears and sells their appliances. They turn you out in the name of discount and bottom lines.
I have a second dryer fix (9 month apart). The first I had to wait 6 weeks for three trips from Sears. The tech were great but the timeline was terrible. We have two kids and laundry piles up in a MN winter (outdoor drying not an option!). They come, diagnose, then parts and fix at later dates. I pressed them the first dryer fix but they did not have other vendors. They sent it to a plumber but after I called them they informed they do not fix dryers (wasted two days). The second dryer fix, I asked if they had added vendors and said three weeks (first available) was too long to wait to diagnose the issue. After a lot of advocating and many calls they approved an outside vendor.
I live in a city with over 100,000 people and 90 miles from a major metro. I called the four other vendors. One of them came and gave me an estimate (Bob's). D & T, Gary's, Mark ** all said they would not come out (names to say I'm not bsing). Bob's gave me an estimate but will not work with AHS. One vendor (not Bob's) told me they get nothing but headaches from home warranties (4 calls and 2 hrs of unbillable time). They call and disagree with labor rates, trip costs, use their own parts not allowing them to charge overhead to parts and take up phone time that they cannot bill for. I do not blame the small business owners.
Armed with a quote on letter head, license and bonding proof I called AHS three times. They refused to help me stating the vendor needs to call. Most reps told me their hands were tied. Waiting three weeks for Sears is the only option. I ask for supervisors, called sales and told them my contract was up for renewal. No help at all. They only escalate issue after 30 days. They rarely call back or follow their timelines. More hostility and apathy than anything, which was matched by myself. F for communication. F for call backs. F- for over policy regulated customer service that work against customers. B for Good value on old appliances. Great techs from Sears and other vendors. They lost me on appliances and customer satisfaction. I am going to try out another company.

I have not used my American Home Shield all year until my water boiler broke last month. They took their sweet time sending a plumber to my house (we had no water for over a day and I had to pay ROTO ROOTER to come to my home in an hour to make sure all plumbing was shut off). AHS assigned Plumber (BEAR), looks at it and says 'not covered', claimed it was not the 'boiler' but where the water is stored. So the big round/cylinder unit that is labeled 'water boiler' is not covered, even though my contract calls for water heaters to be covered, what the heck??? So the plumber has me and my family over a barrel because I have 2 small children and we need water. $3000 out of my pocket...
Then my ice maker in my freezer is not making ice, plumber comes out and says 'not covered'. AHS claims that since my fridge and freezer are not connected (1 inch apart), it's 2 separate units, they don't cover the freezer with ice unit. Then I alert them that I paid extra for additional refrigeration with ice maker to be covered. They still claim the freezer is not part of 'refrigeration' coverage. Well where the heck would an ice maker be but the freezer? Two calls this year and both times I felt like they absolutely rooked me. I'll pass on American Home SCAM next year.

I left word for them and they called me back and gave me an appointment time. That was a Sunday night and they gave me a time for Tuesday morning. The contractor was a nice person and knew well what was wrong. He got right to it and fixed it and said goodbye.
We've had American Home Shield for years and used to have it on two houses. Now it's only one. We've had all kinds of claims: dishwashers, refrigerators, washing machines, heat and air and hot water heaters and they've been fine. I would recommend them to other people who are looking for that kind of protection. My experience with them has been very good. The people that come are knowledgeable about what they are dealing with and the price is pretty good. They're also owned by companies here in Memphis so it's a two-way street. My experience has always been very, very bad. I don’t use them anymore. I always had good relationships, I’m a real estate broker, I’m not doing that great right now but up until that time I was managing over 200 homes. At the time I had a problem I was paying them over $33,000 a year. I had an air conditioner problem in a rental that I had no control over, evidently some tenant that was there before had a dog pee on the unit out there. That’s not covered evidently for the damage; never heard of it before in my life, used them for many years. They refused to fix my air conditioner so I had to put a new air conditioner in myself. I discussed that with people but nobody wanted to even listen to me. With the $33,000 I paid that year, they could’ve come in and said, “Well, just because it’s you, we’ll take care of that.” My son’s still using them, against my best wishes. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Sorry to hear about your recent experience with us. We sincerely apologize that we were not able to take care of this for you. I did the claim process online most of the time and don’t have any complaints with that. Our recent claim was about a refrigerator that I had for a number of years. It went bad. While I was doing the investigating about repair coming out, and they were very prompt in getting back to me, I decided to buy a new inexpensive refrigerator because it was in the garage. They did their end of the job but we just made a decision to buy a new refrigerator, so I didn’t have to use American Home Shield. I also had a garage door problem; they came out and took care of that and everything was very satisfactory. We’ve been in our home since March, and our regular larger refrigerator that was in the kitchen had a problem with the ice maker there. They came out, repaired that and replaced the part.
You do have to wait for someone to call you from whoever the subcontractor is and when the subcontractor comes out and it’s an air conditioning problem, you have to wait for them according to their schedule. Opposed to that, if you weren’t using American Home Shield and were taking money out from your own pocket and called for service, you would get it much faster. If there’s a part that needs to be ordered, the subcontractor has to get in touch with American Home Shield who has to approve it and it has to be ordered. There’s a time lapse that’s involved in it. We’re in Arizona, so during the summer, it can get very warm. There is a delay factor in using them. It doesn’t mean I’m not satisfied with them; it’s just a little glitch that they have to adjust. The subcontractors they use are usually not well-known subcontractors - small companies - and that’s another issue.

After having home inspection and seller having various home repairs completed prior to closing, my ac was not properly cooling around three weeks after moving in. Called AHS to have a service call come out. Two days later a tech arrived on a Friday and told me the system was frozen over and would need to be thawed before he could inspect it. With no sign of what the issue was the tech immediately started trying to sell me an entire no ac system for $5,500. I found this approach to be unsettling. He turned off the system and said he would be back on Monday when office was opened. That meant having the whole weekend with no ac in Texas heat.
Monday came and no sign or word from tech. I called his office and they said they would be out on Tuesday. Tech showed up and started troubleshooting. He told me his leak detector wasn't working properly and that he needed to go to his truck to fix it. Then he finished and said he felt it was a bad coil and he would send report to AHS. He also tried to sell me a new system again. Another weekend went by and I get a message from AHS telling me that my claim for repair was denied bc according to the tech the equipment had a pre-existing issue.
I called AHS and told them I had a report from a licensed ac company that serviced the entire unit before I bought the house showing everything was in good working order. AHS asked me to fax them the report, which I immediately did. Now it has been three days and each time I call AHS they have told me a reviewer would call me. Nobody from AHS has called me and I am frustrated at how long this is taking. Thank God for a cool snap in the weather so that it is not unbearable to stay in the house like it has been. Sure would like to use the service that I paid for. So far it has been a terrible investment.

Our problem started way before the storm that they’re claiming it was caused by. It was at least six weeks previous to when we called. It’s the heater that was the problem. Six weeks before, we would turn the heater on and go on the spa and then it would kick off and my husband would have to go over there and restart it. Finally we got to the point where we called American Home Shield. Actually the pump went out and my husband called about the pump and said the heater was kicking on and off and won’t stay on.
The gentleman came out to replace the pump motor and look at the heater. Then it started to rain very, very hard. As a matter of fact, he had to stop work. He and my husband came to the back patio and they just sat and waited for the storm. Now this fellow who came out said that he opened the motor and there was a bunch of water in it, and I think he told American Home Shield. Well, he opened it up in the middle of the rainstorm, of course there’s gonna be water in it. And then they said they were not gonna replace anything because it was an act of God. But the fellow says, “Oh, actually what I told them was I couldn’t make an analysis because it was raining too hard.” American Home Shield refused to cover it and we are quite upset about it... But we would still use American Home Shield, unless they disown us. I would definitely recommend them. I have, as a matter of fact.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for 13 years. Since we build our home. They came out 1 time before when I had trouble with my dishwasher. We were having trouble with dishwasher and they sent a serviceman out and they said they needed a part and would order it and would come back. When serviceman comes out you must pay them cash or check before they leave. He left and I did not hear anything for 4 days. I called to ask what was going on and they said that they would not be fixing the dishwasher because it was installed incorrectly 13 years ago. I asked for a supervisor and they said they would research and call the service company and call me back. They never called me back.
I called again and asked for supervisor and explained the last person never called me back. 48 hours later that supervisor never called me back. I have called their call center and they now say I can not talk to a supervisor, not even the original ones that said they would call me back. The last time I called I told them I would wait on line to talk to the supervisor and they hung up on me. Very bad. Just know they are unethical and it is a racket. I will contact Better Business Bureau and I will spread the word how bad this company is.

Last Friday night, when I opened the dishwasher to put something in it, I noticed that there was water collecting in the bottom. And I thought that's odd and decided that I'll have to call somebody on Monday. Saturday morning at like 6:00 AM, our four-and-a-half year old had actually snuck down the stairs to the guestroom where her Nana and Pop-pop were staying. And when they were coming back upstairs, she actually slipped and fell because the kitchen floor was covered in water from the dishwasher. She wasn't hurt, but it obviously scared the mess out of her.
So I immediately called American Home Shield. And obviously, they can't make the person who they send the request to respond that day, but it would not stop leaking and I could not find the water shutoff and so I kept calling. Then I emailed and I kept calling the guy until finally he came out that Saturday and all he could do at that time was tell me what the problem was and shut off the water, which was enough for me. And then, he came back out. It took a while for him to come back to fix the dishwasher. But it finally got fixed. And while he was here, I said to him that the dryer makes a high-pitched noise. I asked him to fix it and he said yes. He asked me to call American Home Shield and have a request put in and he came back out within two days and fixed it.
Our dishwasher has always been loud, but ever since he replaced whatever needed to be replaced to stop the leak, it is 10 times louder now, to the point that we can hear it all the way upstairs in our bedroom with the fan on and the door closed. So we only run it at night when everybody's in bed. The contractor knew that that was happening but he said that there's really nothing he can do about that. But the dryer was fine.
Another problem I have was with the billing. Last year, I had a monthly bill sent to me. And this year, they're telling me that they can't do that. That it's not even in my record. And I told them that I have every single monthly statement that they sent me that I ripped off and I sent the check back to them with an envelope they have provided. They said they haven't done that in years. So I said okay and gave them my debit card information to take the first payment, but after that, I want to pay monthly. And they said okay.
Then I get a notice from them and I found out that they had never removed my debit card and they were getting ready to just charge me every month even though I had asked them not to. And so, I called back. Then they told me that it's going to be my responsibility to take care of the payment. That I'm going to have to log on every month to pay for it. And that if I'm late, I get a fine. Basically, it makes me leery of how they keep records.
Hi Emily, thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. I would like to have a case manager reach out to you to discuss this matter.

Not a happy customer right now! I've only had to use my warranty a handful of times over the years and it has been hit or miss. There is always some catch to what is covered and what is not covered it seems like. I just got off the phone with AHS customer service dept. after trying to clear up a clerical mistake either on My Plumber's end or AHS's end for service I paid for back on 9/4 IN FULL and am now being asked to pay again for. I called last night and spoke with a very helpful lady named Jamie, she tried to clear the matter up but got no answer from My Plumber so she asked me to fax anything I had showing payment to this contractor (whom I have already complained about once to AHS and gotten no response from). So last night I scrounge up my invoice and print out my bank statement showing again, PAYMENT IN FULL and I attempted to fax it to the number I was given with two failed attempts. I scanned the documents in and called your customer service again and after going thru the entire process again I simply asked if there was an email I could send these documents to since the fax wasn't working.
Whomever I spoke with was rude and unhelpful. She tells me again to fax. I explain again that the fax is not going thru! I have already spent too much of my personal time on this error already, I just want to email these to someone and be done with it! She tells me that don't have an email, only the one fax. I ask her if she can check the fax machine and she then tells me that is not something she handles. I ask how can it be possible that you don't have an email in 2014??? Seriously, who still faxes stuff??? Again, she tells me no emails?? None, no one has an email? I find this very hard to believe. She tells me to try the fax back later today. I tell her again that I am sick of dealing with this and just want this resolved now. Her response, "I'm sorry mam, you will have to fax it" (to the non working fax?? that makes sense!). I then ask to speak with a supervisor and get put on hold for a while before deciding to just hang up! First of all, this contractor, My Plumber, spent almost 2 hours at my home with a snake that was meant for a sink drain trying to unclog my sewer line outside! He could not get it unclogged and sent me on a wild goose chase with my city saying it was a clog in the city's line.
The city came out the next day (my sewer still clogged mind you) and the city confirmed it was not in the city line. I call My Plumber back and inform them of this and they tell me my next option is to pay them $350 to run a camera down my line and see where the problem is (not covered under AHS). I decide to call my own personal plumber that I've used many times for different jobs and he says that is ridiculous, they used the wrong snake and he is 99% sure he can unclog my drain. He comes out that evening and within 20 mins of running his SEWER LINE snake down my line, he unclogs the line! And only charged me $99 vs the $125 I paid to your contractor for NOTHING! And now they are trying to collect more money from me for doing NOTHING! Not pleased at all with either My Plumber or AHS at this point! I'll be looking at other options for my home warranty.
Okay. Thank you for responding.

But overall I don’t know that I’ve gotten what I paid for, but I suppose if I’d gotten what I’d paid for they wouldn’t be in business. They wouldn’t be making money. I’ve had American Home Shield for several years. We pay five to six hundred a year into it. Do I get five or six hundred a year out of it? No.

I requested service online and usually within a couple of hours on both times, I got a phone call from the provider. They came the next day and arrived right on time, and within a half hour of being there, everything was fixed and they left. There are two things I like about American Home Shield and why I keep renewing my service with them. First, they give me amazing peace of mind because I did have something that was a little bit more complicated a few years back and it took two trips, but they took care of everything and it was fine. We've been with AHS for years now and their customer service has declined rapidly. If you contact them via their website they NEVER respond; phone reps are rude, condescending and threatening. They are full of excuses as to why things are not covered; including but not limited to techs who mistakenly report the incorrect issue (and then we are told that even if the tech corrected it, they have lost credibility and it STILL won't be covered, even though the same issue was covered by AHS in the past!).
AHS spent over $1,000 repairing a $300 dishwasher and didn't replace it until one of THEIR TECHS broke it for good causing an irreversible leak. Then they wanted us to put a white dishwasher into a kitchen will all stainless steel appliances ~ who would do that? Their contracts have changed drastically over the years and we will be changing home warranty companies. I cannot NOT recommend them enough.

During that time the weather was hot and some disabled people live in the house and they need the air conditioning unit to keep them cool -- they get sicker if it gets too hot. The contractor come out and take a look at it and said, "There's nothing we can do right now. I can send a guy out tomorrow."
A guy came out a couple of days later. He got up on the roof, and in less than five minutes he came back down and said it's fixed. I said, "Wow! That was fast." He said they just put in two pounds of Freon. I then said, "You mean, it take you five minutes to put two pounds Freon in there? That's not right. I used to have a car repair shop. I know it take more than two minutes to put in two pounds Freon." He said, "Yeah, we cleaned up the condenser and everything." I said, "How did you clean the condenser? You don't have a hose to clean it up there???" It doesn't work so a couple of days later they sent somebody out to come fix it. He fixed it and then it doesn't work again. And then they finally sent one who fixed it.
I'm happy with all the service I used to have. Never had any problems, but this... all the other contractors are very professional.

A couple of times, I haven't been happy with American Home Shield, but for the most part, it was good. Recently, a rental management company reported to me that a guest complained about the ice maker not working. So the management company had called their own service and they came out and said they needed a compressor and it was beyond repair. It wouldn't be worth fixing it and they wanted to sell us a new one for $1,300. Then I called American Home Shield to report it when it was reported to me. AHS sent somebody out and the next day they came out and fixed it. It cost me $75 instead of $1,300. So it was a very positive experience. I hope next year if it happens again and somebody complains that it doesn't work, then I'd probably ask American Home Shield. I’ve had the service with American Home Shield since I bought the house in 2004. My most recent claim with them was for the garage door. I couldn’t access them on the computer, so I ended up calling and everybody was real helpful. The technician they sent out came on a Saturday. He had some questions, so we called the American Home Shield office. The person who answered said I was really lucky because normally, in those cases with garage door coverage, it wasn’t as extensive, but because I had been with them so long, it was more extensive than most. And so it was covered, but the guy thought maybe I needed something else so she explained that to me and I said, “Okay, thank you very much.” So the technician did the repairs and it was fantastic.
There’s complete peace of mind in being with AHS. Through the years, I’ve had issues, little issues here like garbage disposal or a dishwasher. The only thing I have to say about American Home Shield is I don’t like the online stuff. I prefer talking to people on the phone and every time I do, they’re always polite, always nice. It’s immediate and they give me the name of the company, the technician, and the phone number. I can call and double check... everything goes very smoothly. I had one guy that did something with our garbage disposal. He didn’t do it quite correctly, but the other guy that came out to do something with the dishwasher said, “Hey, the guy didn’t do it right, but I’m going to fix it for you.” So I’d totally recommend AHS. They need to update their way on how to submit a claim to give us more options to add or like a space for us to write down exactly what’s going on with the order that we need to place. When I submitted the claim, I didn’t choose the exact problem because they just give us whether the refrigerator is working and there is another option that says for non-working. Those are the only two options they gave us.
Anyway, the refrigerator was making this weird noise and they came to fix it. The contractor was a friendly guy. He gave me a lot of information how to avoid that type of situation in the future. So that was well appreciated. I filed my original claim to American Home Shield about a month ago on the 13th of August but now I have to call back for the same issue which started like 2 days ago. So they came in today and they said that they were gonna order some type of motor, that they were going to replace it. So I’m still waiting for them to fix the refrigerator.
Jose, If there is anything else we can do for you please let us know. We hope everything gets resolved with your refrigerator and we are pleased to hear that the contractor is being professional and educating you with tips. Thank you for the feedback regarding the website, we will use this information to improve it!

Our garage door chain came off the track. I was able to get it back but the motor would not work. I called AHS to file a service request. First thing the next business day, I received a call from their contractor. They came within a few hours. In fact, they were due between 1 and 3 pm but arrived early. I placed a large ladder at the door for them. The work was completed and the ladder was moved back where it was typically stored. I have had this firm to the house once before. Excellent and timely service.

The problem started with when I renewed my contract with American Home Shield. I was not informed. Let me start from prior to that even. Prior to me renewing my contract a year before, I have requested by phone that my payment date be changed to the first of every month, and so I had been making payments every first of the month for a year or so, probably more. Then it was time for my contract renewal. I renewed the contract but was never informed that my payment date would go back to the original date prior to requesting that to be changed to the first of every month. So I was made aware that American Home Shield had been into my account on July 23rd so I immediate called and said I have requested that it be taken out the first of the month, because we get paid at the end of the month.
So I was told, "Okay, we can change it," so I didn't bother to call again. But then on August 23rd I found out that American Home Shield had been back into my account, took out the payment, which caused my account to go into overdraft because it wasn't a payment that I was expecting. I called and complained about the situation. The customer service rep said she couldn't help me so I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was told that there was no supervisor available at that time. She didn't tell me I had to fill out a form. So I really have a problem with them: 1) in all the calls, this has not been resolved; 2) I'm never allowed to speak to a supervisor, and 3) no one has gotten back to me after I faxed in the information and called twice after that. I've been a customer for a couple of years and I feel like I'm getting terrible customer service.
Hi Robbin--A case manager was previously assigned to assist you with this issue. Everything that you have faxed in is currently being reviewed. You will receive a call shortly to clear up the confusion.

Really, you pay for this, then something breaks, takes 3 weeks to have it replaced, then they give you $70 less than what you're quoted. Oh and you paid $75.00 for a tech to tell you your appliance is broke... American home shield is terrible. Their departments don't talk to each other... Customer service is non-existent. Do not get these guys.

I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. I have filed two claims with them: one was the garage door opener and that happened just overnight. When we open it, it would go up but then it would just come down again. So, they put in the new one and it is working fine. Second claim was for my upstairs air conditioner. The contractor just finished that up the day before yesterday. I'm very pleased with everything. Submitting a claim was very easy and the service people have all been very friendly and very cooperative. I have no complaints.
Great feedback, Joanna! Thank you, we genuinely appreciate it and we’re happy to hear you’re happy with your most recent service requests!

My experience with American Home Shield is excellent. I can only say good things about them. I've had American Home Shield for over 14 years now and it's always fast. When I make the call to report our needs, somebody usually comes out the very next day. Their contractors have been professional and courteous. They call when they are on their way. They take the worry out of the problems. We just make a phone call, they send us the people, they monitor the people and they contact us and it gets done. And there's no downside risk. Should it not work for any reason, they call the contractors back again and it doesn't cost us extra. It's all very, very good.

The service has just been horrible for us. We had high hopes and even paid for the whole year with so much confidence. But this has turned out to be a nightmare. I have attempted repeatedly to resolve my concerns but no one at AHS will respond. When you call, you receive a complete run around and then they terminate the call with no resolution. Again, I wanted the service to be top notch but this is just not the case here. I have sent email after email to the ahsclaimsreview@ahslink.com address but no one responds at all. I am filing a BBB complaint and will spread the word to stay away. I wanted them to at least address our concern but this has just been insulting.
Hi Brian, if you would like a case manager to review your claim, I could have one contact you.

Faithful customer for 5 years but I've had enough with AHS. The last two service calls never happened, first to get my air conditioner serviced which is required since their policy states equipment must be maintained. The service provider was unable to reach my location in time. It never happened. Second I had a plumbing issue, which their contractor and I agreed on a call 30 minutes prior. They called saying they were 15 minutes away and I let them know it would take me 20 minutes to arrive. They refused to go to my house. I called AHS. They said any agreements made between the contractor and the customer isn't their concern and as long as the contractor contacts the customer within 48 hours they will not give you another contractor.
I filed a BBB complaint and I'm switching to another company. I'm cancelling 2 accounts with this company and combing through my contract in hopes I find some breach of contract on their part. They don't even care if you're satisfied with the service you received. I've given feedback with 0 response or follow up calls. I requested to speak with a supervisor and they refused to let me speak to one and said they'd have to call me back within 24 hours. It's been 2 weeks. That says a lot about their customer service. The coverage seems great on paper, but the minute you need a service call the problems will arise.

We recently filed a claim with American Home Shield because of the light switch for the light on the fan and the living room. I turned it on after I've been here just a few days and it popped, made a loud sound. I called Home Shield and they sent a gentleman out and he was really fun. He put in a new switch, he said they didn't charge it out. And then about 3 or 4 days later, it popped again. This time, smoke came out of the light. So I called and they said it wasn't covered by the warranty because it was a light fixture that had to be replaced on the fan, and someone had put in a bulb that was 100 watts, which was too hot for it. But they got here right away. They were very nice and worked carefully and did everything they could to make it work as quickly as possible. They took the wire out and they waived the service call fee, but they couldn't pay for the light fixture because that wasn't covered by the warranty. But overall that's a good experience when you have to go do something like that.
Many thanks for the feedback, Suzanne! We’re pleased to hear you’re satisfied with our services. If there is anything else we can do for you please let us know.

I called on 9/24/14 to cancel my policy. They told me that I had to speak to the retention department, and the hold would be over 15 minutes. Told them I could not tie up my phone, so they sent an internal email to this department to contact me. The next day I was contacted but missed their call. I called back, on the 26th to no avail. On 10/7/14 I discovered I had been charged for the next month's premium, so I called again. Travis said I should get a call within 24 hours by the retention department, and he would follow up the next day. 10/8/14, I received no call from either the retention department or Travis. I called my bank to dispute the charge.
On 10/9/14 I called again and spoke to another individual, Michelle in the GA office who said she is going to call the retention department herself. That was at about 8 am. It is now 6:22 pm and I still have not heard from anyone. This is the worst customer service experience I've ever had, just shy of Time Warner Cable and Sprint. What does it take to get them to confirm my account has been cancelled?

Two weeks ago or so, one of the knobs broke off the control panel. That was the first problem that we had with the clothes dryer for over 20 years. So we put a claim in, and the local Sears guy came out and analyzed everything and said that we can't find the part. So, the information was passed on to their central office and the office decided to replace the dryer. We got a notice that the dryer would be replaced and a technician was assigned.
Last Saturday he shows up to install the dryer. He was told the dryer was delivered, but the dryer had not yet been delivered. So, we're still waiting now on when the dryer will be delivered and when it is, we're supposed to call the installation guy back and he'll put it in. That's where the claim stands, so it's still an open situation. And I have a feeling that the local supplier here may not have had that dryer in stock. And we're waiting on a restocked issue. But overall, AHS have done the work that was needed to be done. And the contractors that they send out here are generally pretty competent. And my experience with them has been reasonably good.

I agree with the fact that American Home Shield, in most cases, uses inferior contractors and replaces covered items with inferior replacement items. But the last straw is trying to cancel a warranty. They will answer the phone if you want to buy a warranty but I was placed on hold for more than 70 minutes trying to cancel my warranty before it renewed. Their customer service is horrendous. I have used/referred them to customers in the past, but I never will again!!!! This company shows the worst business practices of insurance companies. They love taking premiums, they hate and avoid paying claims.
They are like the TV car insurance companies that promise to save you money and do, until you have a claim like not having insurance at all. Just money down the drain. I'll have another Home Warranty when Costco, or some other customer service oriented company, endorses one. These companies that only provide internet based service are greedy, self-serving and should not be dealt with if we want our money's worth. With AHS you can do anything on the web but cancel, why is that? They used to call this type people "CROOKS". Wonder what the new name is for them? THIEVES, maybe?
Hi Michael, your concerns about the cancellation have been expressed to our Retention Department. That department will work on improving its call time to eliminate the high hold times that you advised us about. We have checked on the results of your cancellation and the contract is cancelled. You should be receiving the letter confirmation in the mail within a few business days. We are sorry to hear that you were not pleased with the services. Thank you for your feedback as it will help us make changes for the better.
