Me and my wife moved into our new home in 2009. I was searching for a warranty after my new home warranty expired and AHS came highly recommended from several coworkers and I have had great service on all my repair calls, thanks. I will continue to be a customer.
Thank you for the positive feedback. We are happy to have you as a loyal customer Terry. Your recommendations are appreciated!

We had no previous problems and then in just one day, the house was hot and it wasn’t cool enough. I got online to American Home Shield and pushed the button that they told me to and put down answers where he asked me to and it was so simple. Kevin, the contractor, was topnotch. Since the repair, the air-conditioner’s performance was perfect. I'm staying nice and cool, and in Arizona that’s important. I've always had good luck with American Home Shield. I continue to give them my money every month and I don’t mind doing it. I have recommended them to people.

I have never been so unhappy with a company as I am with AHS. The repair people for both plumbing and HVAC issues are the lowest of the low bidders. When AHS assigns a company to you, check the reviews for them online, and if not good ask for another company. Ask about "Cash in Lieu" if none of the contractors rate well for your area. I ended up having to replace AND PAY FOR my HVAC system after AHS contractor broke it then lied to them. It wasn't until 2 weeks after I cancelled my policy that I had PG&E come out to check my heater that PG&E capped it off as hazardous. The house was vacant and the last people to touch the system was AHS Maintenance guy.
We hate to hear that you had this kind of experience and that you cancelled your warranty. Your feedback is appreciated and we try to ensure that we are using the best local contractors available in all areas of the country. However, if there is a problem with the contractor please let us know so that we can re-evaluate the contractor. We will work to improve our list of contractors.

I contacted American Home Shield on Monday about a water leak under the slab of my 22 year old house. The earliest the local plumbing company they contract with could be at my house was between 2:00 and 5:00 on Wednesday. At 2:30 on Wednesday, I hadn't heard from the plumber, so I called. I was told they would have to reschedule me for between 10:00 and 1:00 on Friday. Finally, around 11:00 on Friday, a plumber showed up. After tearing out large sections of my wall, scratching his head, and general indecisiveness, the plumber said he would have to come back the next day (Saturday).
The plumber came back Saturday morning, ripped up the carpet in the bedroom closet adjacent to my bathroom, busted a hole in my slab, dug a bunch of dirt out and made a mess in my closet. He then decided that the leaking water line wasn't accessible from the location he was working in and said it was under my bathtub. He called American Home Shield and told them there were two options.
First, he told them, the bathtub could be removed and a direct repair could be made to the leaking line. The second option, he said, was to run a new line from the water meter, under the slab, and tie it into the manifold in the location he'd already exposed. He said that American Home Shield wouldn't even let him fully explain the second option. He told me that they simply said "no way" and put him on hold.
While the plumber was on hold with American Home Shield, they called me and told me that I would have to remove and then replace the bathtub at my own expense. The woman told me that they would not pay for what seems to be the more sensible option: running a new line. I was told that I would have to remove the tub, call them when I had it done, and they would send the same company back to repair the leak.
Five days after I called American Home Shield, the only things that have been done are ripping up my carpet, removing large sections of wall from my bedroom closet, busting a big hole in the floor of my house, making a mess, and charging me American Home Shield's $75 fee. I cannot turn the water on at my house because of the leak under the slab, which means I can't live here. Now I'm being told by American Home Shield that I have to essentially destroy my bathroom myself, at my own expense, so the plumber can come in and make another hole in the floor of my house and maybe find and repair the leak. Once that's done, I have to put my bathroom back together, again at my own expense, and hope for the best.
I called American Home Shield and asked them if they would pay $1000 (the amount they'll pay for a repair of a slab leak anyway) towards the cost of running a new water line, and cash out my contract so I could cover the balance of the cost for it, since I DO NOT plan on renewing it or ever dealing with them again. I was told that they don't cover the cost of running a new water line, even if it is the solution that makes more sense, and they would not cash out my contract.
This is my first (and hopefully my last) experience with American Home Shield. As far as first impressions go, American Home Shield seems to me to be a bunch of crooks who are only interested in collecting the purchase price of the contract and not paying to have a supposedly "covered" claim repaired. I haven't completely ruled out the option of suing them in small claims court.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have a case manager assigned already and they will call to discuss the service request. We're sorry to hear about this experience!

Purchased home with AHS Warranty. I had emergency plumbing problem - sewer backing up into home. AHS couldn't find anyone to come. 5 phone calls & 22 hrs later AHS still searching for plumber - but we can't live in hazardous situation any longer. Requested authorization to call our plumber. There was no consideration of situation we were in. That's how they make their money. No one can wait for emergency repairs, so you pay out of pocket, for peace of mind - which cost AHS nothing.
Our company understands there will be emergency problems and we apologize if you were not offered any options to get a contractor out to the home. I will forward this feedback to the appropriate department so that we can look into this issue. But we will also have a case manager give you a call concerning the delay.

My AC quit running several months ago. I called American Home Shield and explained to them what had happened. They told me that within a few hours I was supposed to get a phone call from the contractor that was gonna come out to find out what the problem was. The claims representative was very cordial and very nice. The contractor was also nice and very informative. He explained to me everything that was going on. Since this has happened before, I kind of had an idea what my problem was, so when he came out, he told me what he was going to do. He put in the new piece that had failed, and once he did that, everything worked fine. The AC has been great after the repair. I've had very good service with American Home Shield. They were very nice, attended to my services almost immediately, so I've got no complaints. I've had good service and I'm very pleased with them. I haven't even considered going with anyone else. I'd even recommend them to other people.

We've had quite an excursion, three things happening. Our refrigerator had to be replaced because they couldn't find the parts for it. So we got a new refrigerator. The guys were just awesome, I have no complaints. And then after that, the pump on our well decided it was going to quit, and we got that done. In the meantime, the biggest problem that we had was getting an electrician because our fuse box outdoors, the 200 amp, was gonna blow. The claims representatives were really good. They did what they had to do - no problems whatsoever. After the repair, the well pump and refrigerator were good, but we did have a problem trying to get an electrician because electricians are always booked, but we found one that we got ourselves. Other than that, things went really good. American Home Shield is very, very outstanding.

I was doing my laundry and the washing machine wouldn’t drain. My wife called in and told them what was going on. Then they called within 24 hours to schedule a repair time. The contractor called and scheduled up a time. When he arrived, he was on time and knew what the problem was. And he did his work and was gone. It is working fine now. We're pleased with American Home Shield and haven’t had any complaints. We just wish that the premium wouldn’t go up so much. Other than that, everything is fine.

This was a horrible experience and due to the company that AHS hired to do the work I had to buy a window unit and live in one bedroom during the summer time in South Texas after my A/C stopped working. Twice they came out to "fix it" and twice their attempts failed, but every time they came out they demanded another co-payment, FOR THE SAME REPAIR!!!!!
Each time I had to call AHS and remind them that the warranty stated that the $55 service charge was only to be paid once if the same problem occurred on the same appliance. Then they finally agreed to replace the system but since it was a condo that had been built in 1984 they decided that they would not replace it with a modern, up to date A/C and heater unit so I had to wait over a week while they scoured the country to find the exact same unit that had been installed in '84. Believe it or not they found the very last one in a warehouse somewhere in Dallas and then had to haul it 250 miles to my condo. It took 2 days to install it and each day my home was left a mess with filth and debris everywhere.
Each day the company demanded another $55 for the work, claiming that was what their contract stated and each day I had to call AHS to get it straightened out and complain. Then after a few months the A/C started to blow warm air and I had a local company come out and look at it. They found that the copper pipe that goes to the outside compressor had not been fully soldered so the coolant leaked out. AHS stated that the company that THEY had hired to do the work was no longer contracted with them and that I would have to contact them in order to get the cost of having the pipe junction re-soldered reimbursed to me. This was the worst experience I've ever had with my home and AHS is the absolute worst company ever. I later found out that AHS gets sued quite a bit due to the terrible service and failure to comply with the warranty and contracts they sell to home buyers. Don't EVER use them!
Thank you for sharing your feedback about your service request. We wish that we could have made things right. Sorry for the inconvenience! We will use this feedback to improve our service contractors list to prevent customers from having a contractor that performs work like the one that serviced you. We do not hire contractors, but they do contract with warranty companies for more work in their area. If you have an active contract, I would be glad to have a case manager contact you concerning this matter.

I contacted American Home Shield in October about my heat not working. A month later, and many phone calls, my heat still does not work. They sent out a contractor who misdiagnosed the issue. After which, AHS sent them out 2 more times, each time a failure. The last time the contractor informed me that he will let me know what's next. After not hearing from them, I call American Home Shield to find that they have closed the case prematurely, no one letting me know.
During this process, there has been a gross lack of communication from both the contractors and American Home Shield. The only time I know what's going on or what should be done next is if I pursue it myself, having to call both sides constantly. At most, all American Home Shield has ever done is put things into their "notes" and "send another request to the contractor." There has been no escalated action or urgency on their part. They've refused to switch contractors for me or to put any accountability on the contractor. Finally after demanding to speak to a supervisor, the rep offered to submit my case to the research department where I would be assigned a case manager. I don't have much faith that the case manager will reach out to me or even if it was escalated. Meanwhile, we're approaching December without any heat.
We are glad that you brought this to our attention Tina. I would be more than happy to have our service resolution department reach out to you. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to make things right.

I called 4 times. I understood they could not get anyone to come out due to the holiday. My question was, what is the emergency plan b? They did not attempt to even send out a loaner until they could send someone else out. No return calls. I have been a customer for a very long time. But I will not renew with AHS.

Our recent claim with American Home Shield was for our dishwasher. The springs in the cable wire had issues. The door squeaks when we open and close it. My husband submitted the claim and talked to somebody. When the contractor came and he looked at the paper and said that we have a charge of $75 because we have American Home Shield, it worked for us because it would have been $250 if we didn't have them because he had to come back twice. The dishwasher is quiet after the repair. Everybody should have American Home Shield because they basically cover all of your appliances. It's wonderful.

I went in to take a shower in the morning and noticed that the shower was leaking. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and although it was fairly simple, I'm not real happy with any automated system when I can't talk to a live person. The contractor that they sent out was excellent. He told me exactly what the problem was and the three options we had if he was going to try and it didn't work which I was thankful it did work. He had seen it before and he was very knowledgeable. The shower has worked perfect since. Over the past three years, I had been real happy with American Home Shield. I am writing this review because I am the midst of attempting to work with AHS on a hot water heater ticket we opened on 11/10/14. I have made 8 calls to AHS and still cannot reach someone with authority and common sense. I have made 5 different requests to have an upper management supervisor contact me to discuss my issue/complaint. I made two different calls yesterday and was told there was a 24 to 48 hour call back window for one to call me. Here I am past that time frame and I have still never heard from one. We are in our 7th year of having an AHS warranty and have seen the highs and lows of dealing with them. Most of the issues we have experienced are due to the shoddy/rinky dink contractors they tend to use.
Many of them tell you one thing to your face and then report or tell AHS something different so they can cheat the homeowner. (We have a written document that was accidentally left in our home by one of their contractor's service reps. The document outlined the actions the rep should follow to require the homeowner to incur more of the expenses and to force the homeowner to place more service calls.) Some of the contractors are great but when you get a bad one, like the one who was assigned our hot water heater ticket, you get caught between the contractors lies and the AHS "customer service" reps telling you they must go by what their contractor states. When I read Robert's comments about the $515.00 in code charges he would incur I laughed out loud. That was the same amount that was quoted to me.
I took the parts listed as "code modifications" listed in an AHS letter I received and performed some research. They listed 'T&P as one of those items. That is a temperature and pressure gauge. I found out this was a standard, included feature, on a basic Whirlpool hot water heater I could purchase at Lowe's for $398.00. They also listed a drip pan. Lowe's has them for $22.00 but the contractor told AHS they would have to charge me $85.00. I decided to call the Code Department for the City of McKinney and was able speak to the individual who would come out to inspect the completed work. When I told him about my hot water heaters, their location in the garage, and the specific setup he laughed and stated they had no such code which would require me to have a drip pan. He went on to state the City actually had no "defined code" other than adherence to the manufacturer requirement and industry defined standards.
I ended up providing him with all the parts listed in the letter and he stated all of them were recommendations/requirements of the 2012 IRC, which is the International Residential Code Council's 2012 version of their trade group guidelines. So basically, AHS is standing behind this curtain of code language to not have to pay for having work completed in a prudent and reasonable manner. There is much more to this issue but I am going to stop at this point. I am hoping this review will prompt AHS to have intelligent, intuitive, level headed, rational upper manager call me to get my situation corrected ASAP. I pay for a warranty and expect it will be honored. AHS staff should be reminded the premiums we homeowners pay, support their company and pay for THEIR salaries and benefits. Without us you would not have a job!!!
Hello David, a case manager will contact you to resolve this matter with the hot water heater.

Our fridge went out on November 13 and we placed the 1st service call to AHS on November 14. We had 3 repair services come in on different dates which we are still with the last one who is Ramb's Appliance. First of all I cannot believe that a refrigerator is not considered an emergency to have repaired. This is not like my washer or dryer is out and I can do without it for 3 weeks. First person to come in looked at it and did nothing. Second person to come in said it has something to do with the freon leaking as well as the temp control which is what I originally had told AHS because of a gas like smell in our home. Third person came in and fixed the temp control, but still stated that we needed a compressor. Mind you that the compressor and temp control was changed in 2012. Here it is day before Thanksgiving and they will not return until next Wednesday. AHS sucks and I will not renew my contract in the coming year. I'm sure they will be having a good Thanksgiving.
We would like to have a service resolution representative follow up with you regarding this refrigerator request. We apologize for the issues you experienced, especially during the holiday time Karen.

My air-conditioning wasn’t working. When I called them up and suggested a contractor I do know that’s reputable, they said, “Well, they’re none on our list. But we do recommend Day's heating and air-conditioning (which was out of Cape City, little further away).” So I said, “Okay.” In the end, I’m very pleased. They were very professional people. They did a really great job. They even found out part of the work was already covered under the warranty of the air-conditioning itself. They went the extra mile for American Home Shield, because we had no idea that part was still under warranty. So it was a very pleasant experience. Very well done.
I highly recommend American Home Shield. It’s a very good company to do business with. We've only had to use them a few times. But it has worked very well having them. We’re an older couple and we’re in a very rural area. When you get someone to come out here, just the service call alone can be very costly. And in most cases, they have to come out at least two times. First time is to assess and the second time to repair if it needs a part. You can really run into a whole bunch of money.

Most recent issue is the kitchen trash disposal and this had happened multiple times and I don't know how it was between American Home Shield and the subcontractor but there are lot of room for improvement for communication and coordination. The contractor just show up without calling the resident. In this case, it was my tenant. Fortunately sometimes, people are there; sometimes they are not which only delays the whole process. On top of that, the first contractor took their own time to show up even and then it took almost 7 days, nothing happened. I called my tenant and said, "What happened?" She said, "Nothing."
It's an electrical machinery but it ended up having that we were sent to a plumber. I called American Home Shield and they gave me the plumber's number. I called the plumber. They had the call last week and then they said they had the wrong phone number and whatever phone number they read to me was wrong, not very close to what my tenant's phone number is, that I originally put in the request. They said, "Okay, now we will call." I was not so happy about this whole situation. It's been almost three or four weeks now. As of now, it still has not been repaired.
I have a mixed experience with American Home Shield. In some other request for my primary home, there were problems again with the contractor, not with the American Home Shield because they took good care of me, they gave me a replacement microwave. So I was happy with that and that's why I continue. But on the other request, I'm not sure because now here my tenant comes into picture and that include some kind of liability issue. If not done in timely manner, I will be in trouble. So then I think I should coordinate it within myself because I have to do it anyways. I have to call AHS anyways and call the contractor and whatnot.

So we put in a claim for AHS, and Mr. ** called the same day, and came over a few days later. He was friendly, relaxed, and talked with us at length about our questions. Turned out, some repairs were needed to correct the initial installation of our furnace to bring it up to code. He said he'd make up a bid for the necessary work, and left so we could decide what to do. Next week, he gave us a reasonable bid and we scheduled the work. No drama, just getting it done. The first couple of times, they came to look at it. They weren’t really very easy to deal with. They didn’t know what was wrong with it. My son ended up taking it apart and figuring out that there was a part that was burnt out. The part wasn’t available and there’s a replacement cost. I had to pay a little bit more money because I wanted the stainless one but it was a great option. I love the whole experience. Having the insurance was great. I am very happy.

Our warranty was sold to us by our realtor as covering the cost of replacement if any of our main components of our home went bad. This included the water heater. We called to make an appointment because we did not have hot water. The company they sent couldn't make it out for 4 days. Once they arrived the repairman said it was a heating element. 'Fine' I said. Except the heating element was so corroded the repairman had to jar and hit and pry at the water heater for the element to come loose. $75 later and we had hot water....for about 3 days until the water heater started to leak.
After contacting AHS again it took another 4 days for the same guy to come back. This time he says the tank is leaking and AHS won't cover the $515 to "get your system up to code." Funny, except I had contacted another plumber for an estimate for a replacement job out of pocket that was about the same price, INCLUDING THE WATER HEATER AND LABOR. The representative of AHS was quite rude and condescending when I spoke with her. I was informed there is a "cash option" but that it is considerably less than what they would pay to the plumber to replace the unit. After this experience I would not recommend AHS or any other "home warranty" to anyone.
Hello Robert, I'm sorry you feel that way, but AHS does not write any of the reviews that are listed on this site nor does AHS own any portion of this site. The reviews, both negative and positive, are placed by consumers such as yourself. If you elect to have the water heater replaced by our vendor, any non covered charges are due at the time the vendor renders services. Unfortunately, your contract does not cover code violations. Your work order has been escalated to our Service Resolution Specialist, Lillian. She will be contacting you to discuss this. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

On November 7, 2014 we placed a call into AHS regarding our water heater leaking all over the floor. We waited 5 days and no call back. We called again. We waited another 7 days for the plumbing staff to show up with no equipment to replace the water heater and no estimate of when they would be back to replace the water heater. We called again today and finally got the plumbing people to commit to showing up tomorrow to replace water heater, however, now the pipe has split as well. We have been waiting 3 weeks for replacement of water heater and now to get the pipe fixed as well. Our wall is wet as well as my kid's room. On the other side of wall, has mildew now on the carpet.
We have telephoned AHS several times only to get the same run around, "oh, yes, I see you have been dispatched to the plumbing staff." We have called the plumbing people 3 different times and no answer. We are very disappointed in both AHS and Pacific Coast Plumbing. We have had great experience before now.......we have been customers for 15 years, but maybe it is time to look for someone else.
Hi Lynn, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for your recent experience and would like to assist you. Is it okay to have a case manager contact you to resolve the issue with your leak and water heater?

My latest AHS claim was for our air conditioning unit downstairs. It wasn't cooling. There was a Freon leak in the coil. The contractors who fixed my unit were really pleasant. The first one who checked it thought he found it, but he only found one little part that was leaking. There was another one, and he didn't find it. The second one who came was very thorough and actually removed the whole coil, and there he was able to find the other somewhat "hidden" part that was leaking. Both contractors were from the same company and they weren't upset that they had to come out twice. In fact, they were very pleasant about it. Since the repair, my unit has been working just fine.
We will always keep American Home Shield on whatever house we own. It's very useful. In fact, I'm selling my house in Crestview and I'm going to buy American Home Shield for a year for whoever buys the house. Overall, my experience with them has been extremely positive. Service calls are answered immediately. Charges have always been what they're supposed to be, so I've been very pleased.
We thank you for taking the time to share your experience Jennifer! Glad to make your experience a great one!

Seems like my issue is very similar to some of the other complaints. Signed up with AHS, filed a claim for my clothes dryer, took a day off from work to accommodate a very inconvenient service calendar. Technician finally showed up and diagnosed the problem, ordered a part that was delivered the same day, said he would be back to fix and I have not seen him for 6 months. Made numerous phone calls, left messages, spoke to reps but nothing and finally gave up. The only contact I have had with the company is letters requesting payment and collection notices threatening collection enforcement - for what?? Just left a message with a rep today 11/25 asking for a supervisor to once again call me back. She was reluctant to take the message, choosing to focus solely on my bill payment. More worried about getting their fees than actually fulfilling their responsibilities.

We had an electrical problem occur in our kitchen where the GFCI plugs stopped working. To be fair and in full disclosure, we had an outlet *moved* 6 inches (not rewired, not added to, etc), so we assumed this was the problem, although the plugs worked fine for several weeks after the work was completed. The contractor showed up while just my wife was at home, and spent nearly 3 hours poking and prodding, looking at the plugs and checking things. He then announced the problem was the new wiring wasn't up to code and he wasn't responsible for fixing it, as it would require tearing out drywall and replacing wire. My wife let him know that no new wiring had been installed, and he apparently became belligerent when she called him on it, saying things like "What do you want me to do about it?" and "Do you have any suggestions?"
He promptly packed up his tools and left and said AHS would be in touch. 2 weeks later, we had received no notification from AHS. When I called, the rep informed me the decision had been made a week ago to not cover the problem. I asked why, and she said we had non-code work done to our home. I let her know the situation with the contractor, and she asked what I wanted her to do about it (this seems to be a theme). I let her know I'd like to cancel my contract, and I was promptly transferred with a "please hold." The woman I spoke with next likely got hired from the DMV. She was completely devoid of emotion, and stated it was their decision to not cover the work. I asked to cancel my account, and she stated "it will be canceled" and then hung up.
I had an electrician friend come over to take a look at the problem, fearing the worst. He took one look at the plug and said "the wires are crossed." He uncrossed the wires and reset the GCFI, and everything worked. We told him the story and showed him the card that had been left by the contractor. He said he knew the guy, and he was *not* an electrician, but more of a handyman. Frankly, I'm done with AHS. They've done moderately well by us in the past, but recently, their contractors and especially customer service has deteriorated to a completely unacceptable level, and this last encounter was the last straw. I think my account is even still active with them because it was never canceled by the rep.
Brian we are still showing your account to be active. We hate to hear that you wanted to cancel, and apologize that the contract was not cancelled when requested. If you still wish to cancel please reply back and I will have a representative contact you to assist.

We’ve had American Home Shield for years and years and we have been more than satisfied. We’ve had it on several different houses. Right now, we have it on two houses. So overall experience with them over time is great, but right now, it's not good. More than a month ago, we called in our refrigerator’s icemaker because it wasn’t working. And three times, Sears was sent out. They ordered parts, and they ordered parts, and then they came last week and they said there was nothing more that they could do. It’s making ice but sometimes it doesn’t put out the full pieces of ice and it doesn’t put out crushed ice at all. And so I called it in again on Friday and I spoke to someone named Win. I said, “I realized it was Saturday but I wanted to make sure that I called it in.” And she said that she would look into it and get back with me first of the week but I haven’t heard from her.

I had to call plumber in their network who said he would come out the next day. He came out and determined we needed a new hot water heater. He also let me know that there were $300 in 2 permit fees that were not covered. I am not a novice and knew this could not be accurate. I called the town and was told he only needed one permit to do the work and it was $25. I brought this up to both the contractor who said he did not want to discuss this and an AHS supervisor who told me that is the way it is!!! They are knowingly employing crooks. Furthermore the contractor said if I got the cash and lieu and paid then I would not need to pay the permit fees. Furthermore I was promised by a supervisor on Nov 21 that the cash in lieu Sept. would contact me by the latest Monday Nov 24. I called 3 times with no luck getting a $ amount. I had a claim with American Home Shield during the summertime. Submitting the claim wasn’t an issue. It happened fast. They’d gone out that next day to see and evaluate what was wrong. The biggest thing was we waited three days for the parts. They try to wait on the parts they needed. The claims representative was good. We talked about what the issue was and she said that she can help me out and put in a claim and walked me through the whole process. I was happy and the service was excellent.
I had an issue with the contractor. They had to come back because the air conditioner thermostat was set at a certain temperature. They had done wiring upstairs in my attic and had left all the covers of box of the wires open. When we noticed that it started getting cold outside, we turned on the heater and it didn’t come on. They fixed the air conditioner but broke or never realized that the other part was broken. and had to come back. We called the company back and had to resubmit another claim as a follow up to the first claim through American Home Shield because they wouldn’t come back. They said, “Oh, no, you got to go back to American Home Shield, file another claim.” I did that and it went good with American Home Shield. Within a couple of hours, I had an email.
I called the company, made an appointment and said, “Look, now that I have American Home Shield backing me up, can you come to my home and see what I’m talking about so you could see what your folks did at my home?” They went up there, took pictures and said, “We’re sorry for all this.” I had to wait another two days for another part that was broken. Apparently, they didn’t realize that the air conditioner and the heater part broke at the same time. They got the part in and two days later, they got it fixed. Everything got done eventually but if AHS hired quality control with the folks that they’re working with, it would have been a little better.
I had another claim recently. About two weeks ago, the dish washing machine stopped heating up the water. We put in a request, got approved and AHS sent out a team and I had no issues. Again, I had to wait on a part. They had purchased a whole front end on the dishwashing machine where you push the button to start it. It got replaced and the dishwasher is working. Everything is good with American Home Shield. I’m happy with the service provided. I had a separate insurance company where I was paying 600 bucks a year and it was not even close to what you all do for me. I was glad that a friend of mine got me hooked up with them.

We’re a new customer to American Home Shield, but we have another home that we have a home warranty on with a different vendor and American Home Shield is much easier to work with. I filed the claim over the phone. Rep was very good. I wasn’t there when the contractor arrived, but from what my property manager told me, it was very good. Since the repair, it seems to be fine.

The last claim that I made with American Home Shield was for a water heater and it was repaired to my satisfaction. I made a call to them, they took the information down and assigned a contractor and the item was repaired. They also fixed my refrigerator not so long ago. They had to order the part and it took a week, but they came back and put it in without a problem. I changed over to another company before but I came back to them because they seemed to have been better than the others. I'm satisfied as of today's date.

I submitted a claim over the phone with American Home Shield and the representative was very nice. I wanted somebody because the plumbing was causing a problem and she couldn't get someone. And then when she did I didn't want that person. The contractor she found was just so expensive and I had to pay things. I didn't know I was supposed to pay after the $75 but I went ahead and did it. I said, I don't really want them anymore. But the man that did it was very, very good. Very nice, very kind, and very punctual. There was no problem after the repair so overall it was still a very good experience.

There has only been one other time that I've been very disappointed with American Home Shield. I'm not even sure I'm going to even do them again next year. The problem started in June when I called them about my air conditioning unit not cooling down. I ended up having to pay $200 something for freon on the system and called them back the next month because the system was not cooling again. And again, I'm having to pay another service charge again each time I call them when I'm calling for the same problem. I called for the last time. The guy that came out was honest with me and said this problem was here the first time when they came out but no one fixed the problem then. It needs a new coil. I had to pay another $200 something for Freon and a service charge for a problem that should have been fixed in June. I called and talked to them about it but they didn't seem to want to hear me.
They finally came out after two weeks later when I called and said "I'm calling to check up on the status of my order that was supposed to have been done two weeks ago". They finally called me. The guy said, "I'll call you back." He called me back three days later and came out. But if I never called, I don't know if I even would have it installed right now.
The contractor was good and very professional. He spent a lot of time and after it was over, he explained to me everything that was going on. He didn't even take the service charge at that point because he said I needed to call the office and negotiate and talk to them about the service charge. He was very honest with me and he wrote up everything that he needed before he left. He said he was going to call American Home Shield and see if I can get it approved. They would be putting a new coil. If they can't get a new coil, then they'll have to install a whole new system for me.
Over time, they've been absolutely wonderful. Anytime I've had an issue, they sent the order in. The people usually came out in a timely fashion and have always taken care of my needs. There's never been a problem with them. And if there was any extra cost that occurred on the situation, they would let me know that upfront before I even went through with it. They've always have a good track record with me. They've been a good warranty company to have.

The first time American Home Shield came out to work on the air conditioning system, it worked great. There's just one call and they came out and fixed the problem. Then I called for my dishwasher and they came out like seven or eight times and they never fixed the problem. They couldn't diagnose it right and then it kept leaking. Then they finally came out and they got the parts, but then it took like a week to get the parts. They eventually fixed it but I'm very displeased on the second time.

I have been calling everyday and finally today they told me that they place an order for the part just today and that is gonna arrive on the 26. I am having family in town and I won't have hot water. I asked if I buy my own water heater if I was gonna get reverse for it, they said no. Now I will have to take my family to hotel because I don't have hot water.. Usually American Home Shield has been outstanding but I was not that impressed with the last experience we had. We had some problems with the heating system in the early summer. We needed the heating system at night and it wouldn't come on. So we tried to get it taken care of and AHS sent out a couple different companies to work on it, and neither one of them got it fixed. We just sat on it then for a while because we knew that we didn't need it fixed right away. But, in the late summer, we decided we need to get this taken care of. We don't want the winter to come with no heat. We got somebody else to come out and he fixed it. The thing is I had already paid to the first company $75 for service. We figured, okay, if we paid already and it's not fixed, I shouldn't have to do this again. But it turned out I did have to do it again and had to pay twice. That's our minor complaint. Our major complaint is that AHS didn't send anybody out that knew how to fix it. We ended up going through three companies before getting it finally fixed. This company that they finally sent was great. Now we have a heating system and it works. Other than that, it's always been fine. I've never had any problems until this.

Every time I’ve called American Home Shield, we’ve gotten good service. The most recent claim was the receptacle in the bathroom. It stopped working. We were afraid it was something in the wall. They sent an electrician out but it was our mistake, there was nothing wrong with it. He put a new receptacle and it was fine. He was very knowledgeable. They’ve always been very nice and we’ve always got very fast service. I also made a claim regarding our garbage disposal that quit working. They sent somebody out to put it in. Then the dishwasher started backing up and we had to call them out again. We found out that they had forgotten to take the plug out of the garbage disposal that allows the water to go from the dishwasher down the drain. We had to pay for another visit and I felt we shouldn’t have to pay for that. But that’s the only problem. It’s a very pleasurable experience to have American Home Shield. It has taken a lot of pressure off of worrying about an appliance breaking and having to pay for it.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was easy. I got on the website and didn’t really bother to look up my contract number, just on my address, and then go through the list and go down the list and look for what appliance you’re looking for. I didn’t have much interaction with the contractor that came out because they said this occurred on the 20th and they came out initially on the 22nd. We were in San Francisco as of the 21st, so my sister-in-law was the one here. The unfortunate part is that they discovered they needed to replace the toilet and he was not prepared to do that at that point. So he needed to come back to do that, and she had asked them to do it by Friday because we were coming back Saturday night. He thought it wouldn’t be until Monday but said he’d see what he could do.
Unfortunately, it appears that they called back here later that Wednesday to try and schedule when they would come out again, but my sister-in-law wasn’t home and did not remember how to get to the voice mail here. We got back late Saturday night and on Sunday I had left a voice mail message to see when they could come out and when they didn’t call me back Monday morning I called and they couldn’t come until Wednesday then. It wasn’t exactly their fault because it seems like they had to schedule me too from whatever day you call them for them to come out. It’s unfortunate that Steve did not get the message and call them back and it ended up being quite a while. They did come out yesterday and my sister-in-law dealt with them. But he seemed very nice and very efficient. I would recommend American Home Shield to a friend.

Our part was never ordered as assured, and when it was, it is literally sitting on technician's front porch with no interest in completing the project. AHS has done little to abide by their contract and make reasonable accommodations for an error in which they have admitted was an oversight. They said they ordered the part. They did not. Recently I submitted a claim with them when my oven wouldn't reach the desired temperature. It’s fourteen years old and they found a place that would repair the motherboard in it, so they took the motherboard out of it. Which means I have no stove whatsoever. Anyway, the contractor they sent out has worked for us before. He's a really nice guy and I really like him. The only problem was he could not find the right circuit breaker. Our circuit breaker in the house is not marked and he's an appliance man, not an electrician. The only way that he could get it to shut off was to shut the whole house off, but we couldn't go without total electricity for three weeks. So he had to call in an electrician to come out and find out how to turn the circuit breaker off. We waited almost a week before we got the electrician out here.
As of now, my stove isn't fixed yet. This Friday, it will be three weeks with no stove. But I'd still give AHS five stars without a question. I’ve had them forever and they’re wonderful. AHS reps have always been very polite and wonderful with me. When my heater blew up, they were wonderful. They had my new heater in in two days!! :) I'd absolutely recommend American Home Shield. I was getting a lot of leaks, drippy faucets, and someone suggested maybe my water pressure was up too high or it might have had a bad pressure release valve. So I called American Home Shield and someone came out and they told me it was very, very high and they changed it. But recently my water pressure has been very low so they sent somebody out again who told me it was right where it needed to be, but make it any higher, it would cause the same problem again. So that's been somewhat of an issue. Anyway everybody at AHS was pleasant. They took the information and sent someone out.
Another claim I submitted was for my a/c. My air conditioner was leaking. When the guy came out, he cleaned up the coils. He said there was a lack of backup in coils. It was nothing major and haven't had any problems with the air conditioner since then. The guy did tell me that I should get it checked each season. He gave me a lot of good advice on how to maintain it so that I wouldn't have any issues.

My toilet clogged up. So, sometime back in August, I called them up and this is the first time I had used them. I signed up with them in March of this year. I called them. They sent the guy, and he’s a nice fellow. He’s my age so he’s kinda old. First thing he told me is, “What is it that I’m supposed to fix?” And I said, “You’re supposed to unclog my toilet.” And then he said, “You know, they always send me these things. I’m an electrician and an electronics repair. They always send me on plumbing calls.” His name is **. He hand me his business card. He’s actually in the phone book as electrician and repairing odd jobs type of thing, electrical jobs.
He worked on the toilet for about an hour and a half and he got it unclogged by using a roller router or whatever. He was a nice old man, and he cleaned up, and I paid him $75 and I paid an extra $5 because I felt kind of sorry for him. Because I don’t want to be like him doing the same thing actually. It sounds goofy but it’s how I felt. Anyway, that was in August. It’s our second bathroom. So we use it probably maybe 5-10 times over the next month. We went on vacation in September, we came back towards the end of October. We’d had some friends in the house who stayed with us. And so they knew that the toilet was slow in going down whenever they flush it. They had to use another toilet most of the time we were here.
So in my next call to American Home Shield about getting my bathroom spa thing fixed I also told them “I don’t think my toilets working real well either. Can we get somebody named other than Mr. **? Because he’s not a plumber. He really isn’t.” That was in October. I haven’t heard back from them. So, I’m here now. Now it’s early November. And the toilet just won’t flush. There’s nothing down there clogging it, but it’s just clogged up. When you flush it, it doesn’t flush. The water comes towards the top of the bowl, slowly recedes back down again. So I called the lady about it again last week, and she said, “Well, you’re now past your 60 days so we can’t do anything. It’s got to be a whole new service call.” I said, “I don’t think that’s right.” I did tell them about it within 60 days. That I tried to make another service request in 60 days. It was August 25th when Mr. ** came out. I remember that date from the check. I called back on October 14th, 15th, or about 16th.
The lady got very nasty so I asked to speak to a supervisor. She left the phone, she came back and said “Our system to contact the supervisor is deferred. The supervisor would have to call you back within 24 to 48 hours.” That was either on Thursday or Friday of last week. I understand it’s the weekend so I haven’t received a call back from them. So that’s my sad story about the bathroom at my address. I’m really upset with them. They did respond about the pool tub thing. They can’t find anybody for that but I think they probably tried their best to do something on that.

I called American Home Shield (AHS) on Oct 29th to request service on my tankless water heater. They sent a technician out on Oct 31st, who diagnosed the problem, but said he did not have experience working on a tank-less heater. AHS called a second technician who came out on Nov 2nd and gave the same diagnosis. AHS confirmed that the entire repair/replacement was covered under my contract. However, they failed to authorize the replacement water heater until Nov 10th after multiple calls from me. They never explained why it took so long to authorize.
The part arrived on or about Nov 12th, but the tech said he could not come out until Nov 17th. I asked why so long, and he said that he lives and works in Modesto, a town that's about a three hour drive away. When I asked AHS why they didn't pick someone closer they told me that they don't contract with anyone in my "area" that fixes tank-less heaters. I told them I live in silicon valley, there are hundreds or even thousands of experienced plumbers near me. The rep replied, "But not that WE contract with".
The technician finally came to perform the repair on Nov 17th. He soon realized he had the wrong part, and reported he would not be able to complete the repair. I called AHS to see what they would do next, as my family had been without hot water for 3 weeks already. The first time I called I was told that their records show that the repair is "finished". I told them that "no, it was not." The next time I called they said someone would call me back. No one did, so I called again and they said they need the tech/plumber to order a new part, but when I called to speak with the tech/plumber, he said that AHS needed to Authorize the order and that he could order anything without their authorization, which they HAD NOT given.
After calling AHS a few more times, I finally got a hold of the first truly helpful person in the "Autho" department, who said she would have the part ordered and sent to my home ASAP. Hooray, right? Not so fast. I called the owner of the plumbing company and he told me that "a lot of my guys are on vacation now" and that because we live "so far away", I would have to wait another WEEK before they could come out unless the part arrived by tomorrow on 11-21-14. I called AHS again to report this and they said they would call me back. Now I am waiting to see what will happen and wondering if my family will have to spend thanksgiving, our 4th week, without water.

We came home from our vacation and our freezer had quit. So we contacted American Home Shield and it took them a while to get a repair person because I don’t think that person works for American Home Shield, he was a private contractor. He’s come and worked on my refrigerator before, but apparently they had to go through their process to get it authorized. Anyway, apparently the air compressor quit, it had water in it and so it quit. So the guy had to come and put a new air compressor in and then they had to put a new filter in, then they had to clean out the line... So, it’s quite a while.
With American Home Shield there’s a process you have to go through and sometimes it seems so stupid because the thing obviously isn’t working, but you have to go through this process. And it just takes forever sometimes. And it gets really frustrating for my tenants. The time before this, I have a rental home and the refrigerator quit working. I was in Europe when this happened. So, I requested service through the internet. They chose somebody who apparently didn’t do repairs. Finally, I just told my tenants to go rent a new refrigerator. So, they did that and for a while the old refrigerator that didn’t work and the new refrigerator were both in the kitchen until they found some people to help move the old refrigerator down to the garage because it didn’t work anymore. So it was in the garage and we had the rental upstairs. Well, American Home Shield said that they would not pay to have a technician come there and check the refrigerator in the garage to verify that it didn’t work because it wasn’t in the kitchen.
I tried to explain what has happened and I’m in Europe and they have to have a refrigerator. But they just refused and said it was just not gonna happen. "It’s in your contract.” So just I went ahead and bought a new refrigerator. And of course had to throw the old one away. I just gave up. They have some really ridiculous rules. Anyway, that’s the frustration. It usually works out okay.

I joined AHS in August of 2014 because a friend of mine had used them and really had success. That being said I think that is possible. What I will say after my first experience in using them it has been a disappointment. Just to express how anal I am, I read the "sample" contract, made notes, called them, went over everything and felt I had a very good understanding of their product and because of that and the recommendation and the positive reviews here felt it was a safe bet.
So my first experience was plumbing (leaking faucets) related. Because it was my first run I did the initial request online but their website was throwing errors so I called on Monday to firm receipt and the process. Didn't want to be any issues and wanted to make sure everything went smoothly. I asked a lot of questions but got different answers along the way. Not real comforting, but everyone was friendly. Of course the first frustration is the phone menu system and LONG wait time. That's just crazy, use technology please, online chatting could have covered most questions and issues but then there would be documented correspondence.
The contractor they sent out was on the money. No issues with them luckily. The issue that annoyed me was that the faucet needed to be replaced, OK I had been told that I could easily upgrade and pay the difference if I wanted. Now that's when I was talking to sales.... flash forward to time of need. No, that's complicated on so many levels. Basically, they push the "cash out" method to deal with anything like that. You would think that the cash out method would cover labor and materials cost for you to go and do whatever you want. That is Not the case, you end up paying a lot more and they don't cover labor costs at all. So at the end of the day you pay the trade fee for someone to come out and not do the work $100.00 in...then you can pay the person for his "regular" rate not the AHS rate and the "regular" price of the faucet not the AHS rate....so you see this adds up very quickly. And you will NOT be net ahead after it's all said and done! Also, if you cash out, they pretty much say you are on your own if there are issues. Which made me ponder if I had any future service calls for a leaky faucet, would there be an issue?
This all felt like a total misrepresentation of what was sold to me. But I'm in for the year so I'll see how any future service requests go and of course post reviews accordingly. What did I do, I sucked it up, got what they offered which isn't what I wanted and will eventually have to lay out the money to get what I want but learned a very valuable lesson!
We are sorry to hear that you are not pleased with your warranty service. Thank you for sharing your service experience Darlene. Upgrades are not covered, so if choosing to upgrade, then the cost is related to the contractor's retail rate. We apologize for the confusion in coverage. We had five different issues. Because we had so many issues, I understand from American Home Shield that if you give them you should give them all of the issues that are going on. So, if you have five plumbing problems, you need to give them all five plumbing problems. My understanding of that is because they don't want a plumber coming out and then finding five different things when you only called about one, and then he charges them back for more. So we list all five of them on the website. But when my husband went to pick a category, there was no specific category that fit exactly what he wanted done. So he wanted them to call him and they called us.
Anyway, one of issues that we had was that we kept having the smell of sewers in our front bathroom. A company came out for that and we were surprised that it was given to them. Because when I read the reviews about them, they were extremely negative. But apparently, they do all kinds of different things. My husband said they arrived on time, the guy was really nice, he looked at all the problems, and was very informative. The guy said that when the house was built, the codes have only one vent and so our bathtub, toilet, and our sink, all vent through the same single pipe. If that bathroom isn't used frequently, it dries up the water in the trap, and so it doesn't prevent the back flow of the sewer gases into our house.
It definitely wasn't covered as something that American Home Shield would fix since it was a code at the time that the house was built. But my husband thought he had really good service. So, we had a positive experience even though they weren't able to do anything about it. They are very responsive. The coverage is reasonable and we feel that the price paid for itself. Neither one of us have ever had home warranty before, and this is our first time since we bought our house. But we feel quite satisfied with their services that we actually came out for renewal, we renewed it. I would recommend American Home Shield.

During the summertime, they came out and they took care of my refrigerator as well as my stove and I was satisfied with what they did. The unfortunate thing is the stupid microwave just went out, it sizzled. It’s built into the thing so we just quit using it. And because it's been past 30 days since we had that other claim, now we would have to pay another $75, and I just can't afford it lol. We're both retired and on disability. Anyway being on a limited income, it's hard, but it's affordable to keep with the program. It's a great program to have in the end because appliances and things cost a lot of money. And if they can't repair it, they're going to replace it for you. They're awesome!

American Home Shield has been great. Every time I've called, I've had good service. My house is old and every once in a while things break down. We call right away as soon as something happens. Our most recent issue was a plumbing problem under the house - a hose was old and it had broken open. My husband went online and put in the claim. They called us immediately as soon as they got the message. Their reps have been very good whenever he calls. The whole experience has been very positive. A plumber came and repaired it. For senior citizens, AHS is an excellent thing to have. It gives me a lot of peace of mind. I find it very reassuring to know that they are on the other end of the phone when I have problems at home.

There was a problem with my oven so I submitted a claim w/ American Home Shield. I did it all online and confirmed with emails. The process of filing the claim was okay. Except the first one didn’t take for some reason so I filed again. Anyway the person that came out the first time got the overview of the problem, ordered parts, and then we scheduled another appointment.
Two additional workers came out and they said that the first guy did not order the right parts. So then they had it all out and they were troubleshooting different things, etc. And then they had to order different parts so it resulted in a third visit with the correct part to fix it. Problem was corrected. My husband says that he feels it takes longer for the oven to preheat than what it used to, but I haven’t noticed it. That’s just like him being hungry and waiting for it to heat up so he could eat his pizza:)

They quoted me the price and gave me the time that they will come set up. I even made the deposit online, the fee to pay for it and when they came, they were able to go right in and do the work. My experience with American Home Shield has been very positive. Every time I've had to use the service, they have been responsive in a short period of time and the contractor they use to fix the problem. My claim was with a switch that had to be replaced. This was 4 months ago. The contractor wired around it because they had to order the switch. A couple of days later, the switch came in. They came out and put it in and it works fine. The contractor switch has a sticking so I called that in and it's scheduled to be fixed tomorrow. I submit the claim online and it's very simple to do. The contractors are pleasant and knowledgeable. They got everything done quickly. I've been very pleased with the service and it's outstanding service.

My air conditioner broke on a Tuesday. I called the American Home Shield. They sent out A-Plus to do the work. However the contractors were not able to find the damaged part immediately when they came in Thursday. They didn't check it completely and ordered a wrong part. They came back Saturday and found out that the fan hub was the one broken, but they didn't want to buy the part from an available store, Aircode. Three days later they showed up with the part and acted like there was nothing wrong. They said we could call again if there were any problems, but we will not call them again in this lifetime.
Fortunately it wasn't super hot during the days when I didn't have any air conditioner. But it really pissed me off that my air conditioner could have been fixed on that Saturday but they didn't want to pay the cost of the part. I had to wait until their ordered had shown up. If that's the way they're treating all of the customers, then they shouldn't be a part of the American Home Shield contract. This is the only problem I've had out of the 5 repairs I've had done with American Home Shield. I've had people to order parts and the part comes in the next day and they're right there to fix it. So I have no problem with American Home Shield. I just have a problem with that contractor.

In 2010 I had a home warranty with AHS. We called for a problem with our A/C and a company called Bayliss & Bayliss was dispatched. They replaced the unit with a Grandaire Heat Pump and the A/C worked fine. Then came winter and when we turned on the heat, the unit froze up. After several more visits by Bayliss I was told that the unit would not handle the cold temps we were having. (I called the manufacturer who confirmed that it certainly would handle temps to below 0) Had another co. come out last year who said a part was missing and installed the part. Still didn't help. Now it's cold again and I have the same problem. My AHS warranty was not renewed, but because I believe the AHS contractor provided a defective unit AHS should be responsible to replace it with one that works properly.

I called American Home Shield within a few minutes of me noticing this noise from the air conditioning system. I requested a specific vendor that I've dealt with in the past to come out. They told me that that person was on a no-call list right now because they were too busy. So I told myself I really, really know these guys will come out for me because we've worked with them in the past. The girl I spoke to that evening had told me, “Oh yeah, we'll call them and then well make the request for you.”
When I called back the next day to make sure it had been done, it hadn’t been. It’s the first time I have ever been disappointed with American Home Shield. But the girl that I spoke to that morning was really great. She got on the phone right away with them, made the request. I had already called the vendor that morning and said “hey you're on a no-call list, please confirm” and they were ready for it. So that’s how come I actually end up calling back American Home Shield and finding out the girl the night before hadn't sent that because I have spoken with them. They called me a few hours later and they were like, “Hey we still haven't received that request.” But once it got through, they got over here right away and they checked out the whole system. At first they couldn't figure out where that noise was coming from. Later they found that there was a small leak in the system and very quickly got it all fixed up. As always, they were extremely nice. So I can't complain at all about them. We enjoyed dealing with them.

Our air conditioning went out. It happened on a Sunday night so I called American Home Shield at 10 o’clock. The woman was nice and gave me a choice of two different companies that could come out here, Hot Boys and TSS. I didn’t know either one of them so I went with TSS. Then the next day, I called them and they said that they were down a tech so they weren’t going to be able to do it this Monday until Wednesday, maybe Thursday. That’s not acceptable in the South in August. I said, “AHS said that they had another company. Maybe I’ll go with them on Tuesday." She told me, “That’s fine... We’re down a tech so go ahead.”
They don’t want the business. So then I call AHS and they say, “No, they have 48 hours to get a tech out to you. That’s their protocol.” So even though common sense says they don’t have the staff, she calls up and then she was like, “I got an appointment for you tomorrow.” Well, the guy that they sent out (I wasn’t home, my 18-year old was) was very rude and clearly not really a tech because he didn’t know what to do. He said that he identified the part that was missing and said it had to be ordered and then went away. So that was Tuesday.
They were supposed to come on Thursday with the part but they couldn’t get the part because they don’t have a tech that’s certified to put it in, which told me that the first guy wasn’t a tech. AHS said, "We have 24 hours to find you another company. 24 hours would be 9 o’clock on Friday." 4 o’clock on Friday, I called them and said, “What happened to the 24-hour window?” Then they said, "We’ll give you Hot Boys, they’ll come out Monday 12-4. I call Hot Boys Monday morning and they said they know nothing about this thing scheduled. They have no time on Monday, it was going to be Tuesday. That guy comes out on Tuesday and say he identified the same problem and basically he needed to order that part. They made me wait until Thursday to get the part!
Another things is when I talked to AHS on the Friday and said, “Can’t this be done faster?” They said,” Oh, you mean expedite it?” I’m like, “Yeah, why don’t we expedite it?” She looks up on the computer and she’s like, “Oh, it’s 84° in Williamsburg so no,” like that was their standard rule. Under 86°, then it’snot eligible for expedite. I don’t know what her threshold was but 84° was just pleasant. Actually it was 86° on Saturday and 91° on Sunday.
It was bad without air conditioning. So I sent AHS a complaint letter. I was furious. Two pages long of the details of what happened because we didn’t get our air conditioner fixed for 11 days. It’s a series of bad things. However they did rectify it and gave me 2 vouchers for future service calls and up until then, I had no complaint. They respond. They generally cover what they say they’re going to cover. So I’m very happy with them, overall. The second tech that came did say to me, you are in the 1% of people that were mishandled. I’m going with that. I think it was just a fluke.

So far everything with American Home Shield has been absolutely wonderful. I came home from work and it was hotter inside than it was outside. The people that they had me contact said it would take until Monday. Then suddenly someone left me a voic email saying they were at the house on Saturday because I had called them Friday. They left and came back because no one was home. I got their voice mail 45 minutes later, called them back and they said they can be back in that area later that day. They asked me to call them when I get home and they'd see if they were still in that area. They fixed it one day later instead of waiting the whole weekend which was a very hot weekend so I'm so happy.
The representatives on the phone are very nice and pleasant. Every contractor I've dealt with has been absolutely wonderful. Been customer for over 8 years, and our washer and dryer were the only appliances that were not brand new when we bought a new home. Our washer has been worked on repeatedly and we have been without a washer for close to a month total time. AHS will not replace it because they say it can be repaired. Washers can always be repaired due to a huge spare parts supply. They have offered us $157 as replacement cost on a top of the line Kenmore elite washer (over 700 retail) because that's what they would pay for repair. Bottom line, we have paid AHS over $4000 over the last 8 years and have cost them under $1000 in repairs AND they are completely unwilling to replace an old appliance that has repeatedly broke down in the last 18 months. Not customer oriented. Go with another company as I will be. Do some research, there are better companies with cheaper monthly rates and service fees. I have no idea how this company keeps customers. As soon as something big goes wrong they hang you out to dry...pun intended.
Hello Ryan, I understand your concerns and frustrations with the washer service work order. I purchased an AHS warranty with my new home. I spoke directly with the sales people of several warranty companies and chose AHS. BIG mistake - HUGE. After calling in my spa for a leak that I was assured was covered by their sales person, I was informed after a week or more that they didn't have anyone contracted for those repairs. And my only options was for them to continue to look for someone, or they could have me look and then get an estimate have them approve it and then I could pay for it and be reimbursed. Well after finally finding someone to do the work, it took them a month because locating the leak in a hot springs full insulated spa is more than a little difficult. They found it, repaired it and then repaired the heater which caused the leak. They reported to AHS, who then called me and denied the claim.
Here's why - first they fixed before informing them. Second, the only parts they cover are accessible parts (these were in insulation that needed to be removed to get to) and last the pipes leaked from freezing, which was caused by the heater going out. Now the heater would have been covered but not the repairs that were needed because the heater went out. Here's why told to by a retention agent, "It's like this, if your hot water heater goes and ruins your floor even though it was caused by the heater, it's not covered." I said "Of course not. The floor was never warrantied but the pipes were." But since speaking to the representative I have read the contract thoroughly and nowhere does it say anything about the exclusions they stated.
Basically they are trying to get out of paying on a claim. My original intention was to continually renew this coverage but if this isn't handled properly I will just have my lawyer, the BBB and my state’s Consumer Fraud Division do their jobs.
Hello Dennis, I apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced with your spa work order. The Retention Dept representative, LaPorscha, is awaiting to review your invoice. Once it is received, she will contact you. Thank you for providing us with your feedback.

I live in Florida and the air condition was running but it wasn't cooling so I called them. At first when I submitted the claim, they told me that I couldn't have anyone out here for three days. If you live in Florida in the heat of summer, three days is a killer. I called back and said I can't do three days. I asked if they can send somebody at least the next day, because that's what it said when you fill out the form and purchase it. It's supposed to be next day service, especially if it's air conditioning or heating.
The second person that I talked to got them out here the next day. The second representative was wonderful. She was right there working and got it handled within a few minutes on the phone. The contract with American Home Shield was not my choice, but was purchased on my behalf by the seller as a condition of the sale. My realtor may have made the choice, but I do not know if that is the case. First, a copy of the contract was never sent to me, though the purchase was completed 6 weeks prior to closing, until two weeks after closing I called because the washing machine did not work. I was told the washing machine was not covered but the non-existent air conditioning, the trash compactor, and the garbage disposal were covered. When I asked to be sent a contract so that I could understand the coverage, I was told I would receive it in SIX WEEKS. (They were true to their word!)
My realtor (who is a trusted family member) told me that AHS coverage was subject to "a $75 deductible." That is false. They charge a $75 "service call fee" whether they provide any coverage, or not. A fine reading of the contract placed at the very end after pages of optional, additional expense coverage that was not applicable to my contract indicates that they can deny coverage for anything from missing parts, mismatched components, malfunction due to lack of capacity, and any of a number of other fine points. Given that AHS does not allow the contract holder to choose the service provider, it would appear that the company coaches their chosen service providers to come up with the application of an exclusionary clause.
For instance, the contract specifies that for ranges/ovens/cooktops "all components and parts" are covered, except clocks. One of four burners on my gas range would not light. I called AHS, and they sent a service technician from 40 miles away. The technician determined that the burner plate was the wrong size, and spent 10+ minutes on the phone with AHS only to tell me that nothing was covered. In spite of this, I was still required to pay the AHS "service call fee" of $75, which I was told to pay directly to the service provider, as opposed to the servicer's usual fee of $65. So, even though the company asserts that they have no responsibility or liability for the service, they assert that they have the right to dictate the service fee paid. On top of that, the servicer tried to charge me for 1/2 hour of labor, but could not explain to me what work had been done or if there was work done, why it was not covered by the AHS contract.
Further, though the contract states that the customer may cancel the policy at any time, there is a whole series of clauses regarding what the customer might be charged beyond the cost of the contract. For instance, even though they have covered no repairs, I strongly suspect, that because I have called them, they will maintain that they have "incurred service costs." This company is a rip-off. I would like to cancel my contract and apply it to a warranty with a better company, but I'm afraid it will only cost me more money.
Hi Shannon, I apologize for any confusion the contract coverage and verbiage may have caused. If you would like to discuss this further, a case manager is available to assist you.

We started having problems with our dishwasher almost a month ago. They sent out a tech who just cleaned out the inside, ordered some new wheels and said it was fine. Well, it wasn't so they called the same tech out again. He said he didn't know what was wrong but he could see that the dishes were still dirty so he said AHS would contact us. They contacted us and said another tech from another company would come out and look at it. The new tech came out, seemed much more knowledgeable but said that it couldn't be fixed so we would hear from AHS with our options.
AHS sent us a survey to find out more about our current dishwasher and then got back to us with our replacement option. They told us we could have white or black even though our current dishwasher and all of our other appliances are stainless steel. They said if we wanted stainless steel like our current dishwasher then we would have to pay the upgrade fee. We were frustrated but there didn't seem to be another option so we paid the upgrade fee. We didn't hear anything from them for a week and so my husband called and spoke with them (this was a Monday). They told us that they didn't have any way to track it but it should be there that week.
By Friday we still hadn't heard from them so he called again. They told us that we could speak with Whirlpool, who they ordered it from, to find out about it. Whirlpool told us that they had not been given the shipping address or the billing information. Gah! So he called AHS back and they said that one of their employees had called Whirlpool and straightened everything out. And Whirlpool told us that it would be here by the following Friday (that would make it almost 3 weeks since we ordered it). Again frustrating...
Finally we get a call today telling us that the soonest that they can deliver it is the Wed. before Thanksgiving. The company that is delivering it is only going to unpack it and leave it in the room we tell them too. AHS has another company that comes out to install, who won’t make an appointment until after the appliance is delivered. So I called AHS today to see if there was anything they can do. They say that there is nothing they can do but now their story is that the reason the dishwasher is late is because it was on back order and we should have been told but we weren't. The woman I spoke to was extremely rude and I was crying by the time I got off the phone with her. So now we will have a dishwasher delivered the day before Thanksgiving but not hooked up. So I will have a dishwasher that doesn't work with the new one unpacked and sitting in the living room with 40 people coming to dinner.
Hi Jennifer, Sorry to hear about your recent experience with us. We sincerely apologize and would like to assist you in getting this resolved. Someone from our Service Resolution team will be contacting you to form a resolution if that is fine with you?

I had two claims. I had one for my sink and one for my washer. The only problem I had with AHS was concerning the washer.
I had to pay the $75 for something that was never repaired and I didn't get that back. I paid for the guy to come and look at the washer and he said that there was a part on it that I need. They did send someone out here to fix it but then he said that he had to order ANOTHER part which I never got... I waited almost 3 weeks or so for them to give me some kind of information about my washer but they never did get back which makes it so bad. So I called Samsung and they came out here and fixed it. Anyway I called AHS back and they said that they were going to replace the washer but then I was calling them back to tell them that's okay because Samsung already sent someone out here. I was a new member at the time. So I was thinking maybe because I was a new member they didn't act that fast that I thought they were. Overall however I thought they did a good job. I had no problems with the AHS reps on the phone and when I put in my claim with American Home Shield, someone was out here the same day.

I have been a customer of AHS since 06/2003 and up until the last few years we haven't had any major issues. However the last three years, they have had to come out every winter to work on my heater and/or come during the summertime to work on my a/c. Last year the repairman advised me that my unit was outdated and we would continuously have this repair issue. I contacted AHS and discussed the issue with them. I was advised AHS would continue repairing the unit until it was no longer able to be repaired.
11/12/14 my unit went out again...the repairman came out on 11/13/14, told me it was fixed. Less than 20 min later my unit was running colder than before he left. I called him back and this time he advised that my unit would not be repairable. I spoke with someone from the Authorization department who advised me that instead of paying $75.00 I would have to pay over $500 in order to have my unit fixed. The representative was rude, condescending and very unprofessional. I requested to speak with his supervisor....he denied my request and stating that I could only speak with customer service. I called back and spoke with another agent and requested to speak with a supervisor again. I was told there was a 4 hour turnaround. Over 4 hours later I called back and was told there was a 24 hour turnaround for a call back.
I called back today 11/17th, spoke with another agent and again requested a supervisor...this time one called me back. Every night since Thursday has been at or right above freezing temps and I have no idea when my heater will be fixed. This has been a horrible experience and I feel as if AHS should do a better job of making sure their customer issues are resolved especially for something as important as a AC/Heating unit. I shouldn't have to call them or the repair company everyday to find out when the part needed will be received and installed.

I contacted AHS on Thursday 11/13/14 about our hot water heater. It had begun to leak and one side of it was bulging. I went through the phone prompts and set up the service call. The hot water heater cannot be used and must be replaced. I was told that all of the water heaters are purchased by AHS and it would take several days to come in. So we went the entire weekend without hot water. I waited until noon on Monday to call and see what the status is. I found out that the heater will most likely not arrive until 11/19 and that the service company will call us then to schedule the work. Anyone else can get this done in 24 hours but we are supposed to wait at least a week to have hot water and be able to shower, wash dishes and clothes in our home. I wish we had saved the money and just hired someone to do the work ourselves. It is not worth the wait time and inconvenience to deal with this.
When I asked if there was a supervisor I could speak with or a way to file a complaint, I was told that the operator could give me an address to send a letter to. Really? A letter? We should just take ice cold showers and wait for the letter to resolve the issue. AHS is just not worth it.
We appreciate the opportunity to address your situation, Jennifer. We apologize for any inconvenience and will use your feedback to improve our policies and services. A case manager is available to assist you in getting your water heater service request completed.

Approx a week later I called AHS to follow up and was told the claim had been closed! So they reopened it. I contacted the local contractor and was told the motor had to be ordered and would be in on Thursday, 11/13/14. I called Friday 11/14/14 and was told by Air Solutions that the motor was in and the technician would be there between 8 am and 1 pm. My tenant contacted me late that afternoon saying no one showed.
I spent over an hour on the phone with AHS on Friday night and spoke to a "supervisor" named Justin who assured me he would call me by 10:30 am on Saturday. No call. I called back Saturday afternoon and after another multi-hour call, I was connected again with Justin. He said he would escalate the problem and I would receive a call from a manager by 2:45 pm on Sunday, 11/16/14. No call. I called Monday morning, 11/17/14 and went into sales, and lo and behold, someone answered immediately! As of this writing, my tenant has been without heat for 18 days and no one seems interested in helping. AHS is all about getting the premium (sales) and not fixing the issue.

My experience with American Home Shield has been so far so good. We had a pool pump explode on us. It started splashing water everywhere. I called in my claim. I talked to a nice young lady and she had told me that somebody else would be calling me back. And then the same day or the next day a gentleman from the pool company called me. The people were very professional. They came out. They had to wait for the part and our pool turned green, and they came and they made it clean again before they left. So I was shocked.
Everything has gone seamlessly. On the day of the repair the repairman called me to tell me he was coming, and I told him that I couldn't be there at that time. And he said “Well I’m very busy. I don't have any other times. But the pool pump’s outside. I'll take care of it.” And I said “Well how am I gonna pay you your $225?” He says “I'll put a thing in your door” and he did, and we sent them the check and it was all good. He did an awesome job. Our grandkids were here from Pennsylvania when my pool pump burst so it was really a lifesaver.
I haven’t been a customer long. I was hoping I would never need American Home Shield. I was hoping that I would buy this and nothing would ever happen. But I'm pleasantly surprised. We had one of these once before and I cancelled it. Right before this one started, we had Sears and we had nothing but issues with them. And so I went around and around for weeks before I decided to do American Home Shield... I saw a TV ad actually and all of a sudden I thought "You know what? I better do it." I’m glad I did it now. I have to say everything I've had to deal with was positive compared to what I’ve dealt with Sears in the past. I am a very hard person to please but I am very, very positively impressed with what I’ve got. When I see their deduction out of my credit card, it doesn't even hurt me. I’m glad I have it. I've already recommended them to about five friends and they've all signed up.

I noticed water building up in the air conditioning unit and in the garage. I thought I had condensation coming from the AC. I contacted AHS reporting a problem with the AC. They in return dispatched the AC repairman to the house. He found that it was not the AC but the water heater in the next room leaking. He checked the AC for any other problems and then advised me to contact AHS and have a plumber dispatched. The plumber came and checked that it was in fact the water heater leaking and not a supply line. He ordered a water heater and came back the next day and installed it. All repairmen that have been to my house have been very professional, polite and knowledgeable.

We've absolutely loved American Home Shield. Our most recent claim was for our air conditioner that just plain quit on us. It was the heat of the summer and we thought we were going to die because it was so hot. So we called and they couldn't come right away, but they found someone to come as soon as they could and they fixed it. We visited with the contractors while they were working. They were very honest and upfront with us and told us what was wrong with the air conditioner. My husband is mechanically-inclined so he was able to see what was exactly the problem. They took the part that they needed and put it on there to make it work. Then, a fan motor was shot in the air conditioner even though it was a brand new air conditioner, maybe because of the heat here. They fixed that and he left us with a copy of the bill. Since the repair the air conditioner had been fine and have had no trouble with it.
We are really happy that they allow us to be able to pay it monthly because otherwise, we couldn't have it. That is something that we have really appreciated and we really like. We are very satisfied with them. They were very, very helpful and were able to fix anything that we needed to have fixed. The same man from Moore Air has come twice to fix our air conditioner and my husband said he is very good and does a super job. He doesn't waddle to try to take more time. He just fixes it, and he's done. My only complaint against American Home Shield is that they do not pay for the extra Freon. If your air conditioner loses Freon, you're stuck with it and that's a very expensive thing.

But the garage door, I had to pay for everything because the guy say that it’s because it didn’t get serviced or whatever. So I had to pay for everything. That didn’t work out good. The refrigerator was fine, though -- they buy the parts and put it on, and everything was fine. Since the repair, it’s working all right, just making some noise when you have to get the ice. I was told the contract number changes each year, and if they would just send us a new book with the updated contract number on it, it would be nice. Here is my issue: This is our 2nd season having issues with our heater. AHS refuses to replace unit, per the technicians advice that they sent to the home. History: We bought our home in April 2013. We began having issues in October 2013 when the temperatures began to drastically change. We had several service calls for the heating unit, in which they fixed the same part over and over... and over. We have read over our policy and our heater should be replaced by AHS. The tech told AHS that it was "improperly installed" and we need to downgrade to a 80% furnace from the 95% furnace.
The unit was installed prior to us owning the home. And the home warranty was in place when we bought the home and we extended upon renewal. A contractor put the unit in the home and he still states it is properly installed. The unit located in an unfinished area of our attic which has insulation all over it. And it is installed correctly. Per the tech your company sent, we have no option but to replace the unit. And we feel that based on our history with repairs, and the lack of verbiage in our contract, American Home should be responsible for the payment. We had another company come out and give us a price, which was lower than the company your office sent out.
This is the only option that will fix the problem. My husband is a disabled veteran, with a lung disorder. We cannot afford for him to get sick in the cold air. Currently my master bedroom is 48 degrees. While we have heat from our 2nd unit in the living room and main living areas, none in any of the bedrooms or bathrooms. We cannot afford to have this repair done. We have no clue where this money is going to come from this week. Not to mention we have 5 children who will continue to freeze if this is not resolved asap. The amount of the new unit with installation is $3847. It is scheduled for install on Tuesday. We are still not sure how we are going to pay for it.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We would like to make things right. I could have a case manager contact you regarding this service request to see what other options are available..

We called American Home Shield and they were very prompt in giving us someone to talk with, and we got with them and they came out in a reasonable amount of time and we felt the fellow who came out was very experienced. However we weren’t too fond with the lady from the garage door company. She said AHS wouldn’t warranty our garage door if we didn’t get rollers. But when we called American Home Shield, the rep we got said "No that wasn’t true. You don’t need rollers..." So then we had a three-way conversation with the garage door company. The lady on the garage door company that said we had to have rollers said that a man named Scott from AHS told her that. And this other girl, the AHS rep, didn’t know who Scott was, but told the lady at the garage door place "you go ahead and fix the door, we will warranty it." And so anyway, we got that solved and the gentleman came out. He’s very nice and knowledgeable and he did just what he was supposed to do. So as far as the work being done, we liked it. The repair was very good. We can't flaw the service. But it was a hassle back and forth, and I don’t know who to believe. And somebody probably should check in to see if they’re adding on things.
Thank you for the feedback Anita. We will check to make sure that the contractor is aware of the different warranties that we have in place.

I submit my claim to AHS over the phone or online, but I like to do it online if possible. Once in a while I'll have some problems with their website and have to call. That was more early on when they first started doing the online thing, but now it seems to be corrected and I can easily get my claims in when I need to. My most recent claim was our refrigerator, our ice maker, and we're still having some problems with it. The company that American Home Shield sent out obviously can't test an ice maker while they're here. They got to give it time to make ice. It didn't work right, so we had to call back out for a second time. The contractors were very nice people and they seem to be well versed at what they're doing but we've had to have them come back twice on at least two occasions because they didn't do it right the first time.
And now since they've been here and it is making ice finally again, on the door part of the functionality of the refrigerator, the flap that the ice drops through is freezing up. When the ice drops on there, it's not heavy enough for it to open the slot. You open the door to the freezer and you get ice fall out all over the floor, which is a pain in the butt because you know it's not the way it's supposed to work. I don't know what the solution would be to that. But I am glad we have American Home Shield. Wish the prices hadn't have gone up like they have. When we first came in we were only paying $45, now we're paying $75, so it's almost doubled. I know the cost of doing business has gone up, but at the same time, has it really doubled? AHS is not perfect but it's good and they're consistent.

My last claim was for a refrigerator. I came home and all the water from my ice maker was on the floor and I opened my freezer and there was no ice. It had melted, and absolutely not cold. I opened my refrigerator door and then it wasn't cold there either so I called American Home Shield, put a claim in and then it came up LA Appliance. I said I didn't have a great experience with LA Appliance. I wanted Rick appliance. I prefer Rick because he's done some other work. He came out before on my microwave and a long, long time ago on my ice maker. I use him all the time. His service is wonderful. He always calls me, he's always on time, and I absolutely love that... Anyways the rep goes, “I’ll cancel that one for LA Appliance and I’ll put in for Rick,” and sure enough that night I got a call from Ricks Appliance.
Rick came out the next day and ordered a part. It was a compressor, something for the freezer, and he said, “oh if your freezer goes out it affects your refrigerator.” Which I had no idea. He said, “what will happen is your stuff in the refrigerator side, it’ll start getting less cold and less cold” and sure enough so I moved everything out thank God or I wouldn't have known that. That was really interesting. And he said, “I will try to get this part overnight.” I got the part the next day so it was perfect. The fridge has been perfect since the new part was installed, not one issue. Love my refrigerator. It’s like 13 years old but still hanging in there thank God, because they’re not cheap anymore.
I definitely would not be without AHS. Not a chance. They should never go out of business. I’ll be sad if they do. I’m very pleased with them. Everyone I come in contact with has been absolutely 100% wonderful. The phone reps are always polite. No complaints whatsoever. I recommend AHS to everybody who buys a home. You’re crazy if you don’t get it. Making one payment is $75, you would spend that much on any repair in your house. One part could cost you $200. My youngest is looking for a home because they’re renting right now, and I told him to have AHS when he buys his home. I've had mine for a long time since my friend recommended it when I built my home like 13 years ago. She goes “you’re crazy.” I told him, “Just do it now because if you ever have trouble and if they can’t fix it no matter what they’re gonna replace it with equal or something that’s right."
Thank you Linda for your feedback on your appliance call. We appreciate your recommendations and value your loyalty as a customer.

Our last claim with American Home Shield was for the drainage pipes underneath our house. It took 2-3 weeks to repair. The sewer was leaking, which didn’t make me happy, and I had to get on the phone with them a lot. Everyone I spoke to was good but one gal tried to back out of the whole thing by telling me “In Section D this and that, on Line I it says that we won’t cover anything that was pre-existing.” So I told her, “Stop right there. It’s a 1964 house. I’ve been paying a lot of money. I have this warranty to cover plumbing in case it’s bad sewage, septic.” We went round and round, and I finally said “I’m done talking to you right now because I’m not just gonna keep this up.” Finally it got sent over to another department and the woman over there was extremely helpful with me. She helped explain things to me and said to me “Do you want to pay it and then we’ll reimburse you from your fees, or do you want us to pay the plumber? How do you want to handle this?” She explained it to me so I knew what was going on.
What happened was it was expensive. One guy gave a bid of $4,500 because he wanted to do the drain lines and the incoming lines, but we found out that the incoming lines had already been done, there’s no galvanization. So I called AHS and said, “He’s not doing the work. Don’t send him here anymore because he's not a good plumber. He had bad reviews, not only online but with the other plumbers that were here.” They said we don’t want to give him a bad review because we go behind... and finish his work and make money? So I’m like, oh brother. Finally they did choose the plumber that I asked for and I was happy with that. He came out and finally started explaining. He was an older guy and couldn’t do the job because he was a single person. It took more than one person. Anyway, we've had AHS on two other homes and we knew this guy when he came up and did some electrical work for us. We knew that he was a good guy. So overall, we’re happy with American Home Shield. I’ve been under the house since it’s been done and we have no leaks. They may have taken a little bit of time. But they have come through, they’ve done what they’re supposed to do, and people are people like that one gal trying to argue out of it.

The first time we filed a claim on our garage opener was five months ago. The guy came out and said more or less it was the owner error, that something was supposed to have been adjusted, and he tightened it up so it would close faster. So it did work for about four weeks, and it started acting up again and my husband tried to adjust what he said. Still wouldn’t work, so we put in another trouble thing and they sent out a different company. The guy said it was totally something else. He fixed it and we hadn’t had any problems.
We filed the claim online and got the quickest response that we’ve ever gotten from American Home Shield. We’ve had bad experience in the past with air conditioning, and that’s why we don’t have that coverage anymore. They’re good with appliance repair but not good when it comes to heating and air conditioning. It could take a full week before somebody would get out here when you didn’t have anything working. With the appliance, they were here within the same day or the next day.

A couple of months ago, I had a problem with the pool pump so I submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The representative on the phone was very good. My only concern was it took a little bit longer to get their serviceman over than I expected because he only comes into my area two days a week and I had to wait four days before he could come in. They put a new pump in and it's working fine. They’ve been pretty good. They're an excellent company to work with. That’s why I renewed another year with them.

When we moved in, the water kept fluctuating from hot and cold so we decided to see if the water heater was covered or not and it clearly was. There weren't any problems when we submitted a claim to American Home Shield. I called them and they set me up with the right company that I needed and we went from there. The contractor they sent were professional. They were exactly what I wanted when it came to the service that I needed. No complaints there at all. Since the repair, it has been flawless.
Thank you for sharing your experience about your water heater call Michael! We are happy to hear that you were happy with the repairs. It's great news to hear that the contractor was professional and took care of your repair needs.

I have no problem with American Home Shield, I'm happy with them. I had been having a problem with the AC unit and they came out and fixed it. The representatives were very courteous, very helpful and quick. Got me a contractor and the contractor called me and we scheduled, and everything went well. They were great and very professional. They're clean, courteous and efficient. They weren't talking trash or cussing and I like that. They got their work done and they were out the door. Now, I got AC again. I didn't have problems with it after the repair.

American Home Shield is a good company. The only thing I had problem with was my microwave. They were supposed to replace that and my allowance was $480. I went and bought a microwave for $226 and sent them the receipt. They were supposed to send me a check back but the problem was that they don’t want to cover sending somebody to install it. I’m supposed to install it because I chose to buy out. I said “Okay, well how about this, I go return the microwave and you send me a microwave and send somebody to install it? If that’s how it works, you guys want to pay more money, that’s fine with me.” I have not heard from them yet.
I've had a few claims with American Home Shield for the last three months. Everything else works perfectly and they did a good job. The rep was really helpful. They contacted the contractor and the contractor contacted me within 24 hours. I’m pleased with them. The contractor was very good. He did what he was supposed to do in a matter of time. I was satisfied and I would suggest American Home Shield to anyone.

Water heater & Heat Pump and Air Handler replaced. LRI Services are good to do the work and follow-up. Excellent employees. Seems we paid a lot for the 19-year-old heat pump but we didn't want it to go out in the winter. Plumbers did a Perfect job.
Thanks for the positive feedback you shared with us! We are happy that you are happy with the services received on those service requests.

American Home Shield had been very good. They have notified contractors if we needed them and it's been taken care of. Something was wrong with the water heater. 3 or 4 times they had to come out and service it and finally, it had to be replaced. I submitted the claim over the phone and it was absolutely fine. The representative was extremely good and the servicemen have been wonderful. There was one particular man who did most of it and he was just fabulous - a real Southern gentleman. I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. They've been very responsive and right on the money every time.

They come in and fix whatever needs to be fixed and if it doesn't they'll tell you, like the last guy did with the washing machine. He said that it was just too full when I had a comforter in there and showed me that the tub was just leaning the wrong way. That was pretty simple. He must have pulled it back and that was it. But it's something that my husband can't do. I just hate to call for little bitty things that I know is going to cost me $75 but I would recommend American Home Shield. My daughter has it and my other daughter in Texas has it too.
Wonderful Linda! Some issues are more simple than homeowners think, but that's no problem! We love for our technicians to educate our customers on their appliances, as it sometimes gives you the ability to understand how the appliance works! Thank you for the feedback!

I filed a claim online because there was a clog in my plumbing. It was easy to do it on the computer. The contractor that arrived explained everything to me. He told me what he was doing and what I needed to do to keep it from clogging up. It’s been good since then and I've had no problems. American Home Shield takes care of you fast.

My garage door stopped working. It happened on a Friday and American Home Shield couldn't get to me until Monday. I was without the use of the garage for a couple of days. The representative told me that I'll be getting a call from the contractor. Once the contractor got here, he recognized the problem and fixed it in an hour. The guy just pointed out some other things that I might need to improve the performance of the door, a little tune-up job. He was helpful.
