I've been a customer of American Home Shield since 1996, and my recent experience with them has been quite frustrating. I had a plumbing issue and they sent Infinite Plumbing and Construction to handle it. My hot water heater was malfunctioning, but American Home Shield claimed the problem was due to leaking pipes, which wasn't accurate. An independent plumber confirmed my suspicion that the issue was with the heater itself and not the pipes.

American Home Shield tends to use companies that point fingers at the customers to avoid covering costs. I inherited a hefty bill of over $2,000 although my sister saw the same water heater at a much lower price in Home Depot. Eventually, I paid $1,200 for what was purportedly necessary repairs and replacements. American Home Shield didn't reimburse me for any of these additional costs.

They keep sending out shoddy service providers who fabricate problems to squeeze more money from customers, while the main issue—a 30-year-old water heater they originally installed—remains unsolved. The only charge I should have faced was the usual $100 service fee, not an extra $1,200.

Overall, I am very dissatisfied with American Home Shield and cannot recommend their service.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite satisfactory overall. Submitting service requests online is very easy, making the process convenient. For instance, when one of our heaters stopped working, I requested service, and the company sent technicians from ES Heat and Air. They arrived promptly between 10 and 2 as promised, and efficiently fixed the issue on the same day.

While most of my experiences have been positive, there have been a few bumps along the way, particularly with communication and service write-ups. There was an instance with an air conditioner where we had to wait because the issue didn't meet a specific threshold, but eventually, we managed to get a technician out sooner due to a cancellation.

Sometimes the communication barrier with customer service can be a challenge, especially when trying to convey specific issues, and there have been times when I've had to wait on hold for quite a while. However, the problems eventually get resolved. For example, we had a prolonged issue with a washing machine that required multiple visits and resulted in a month-long wait, but the resolution process was eventually smooth.

Despite these challenges, American Home Shield offers easy options for repair or replacement, and we received a Lowe's gift card promptly, which helped us deal with the washing machine problem. I appreciate the small-world experience of meeting someone whose spouse works at Home Shield, as it provided another resource for resolving potential issues.

In summary, while it's sometimes a waiting game with American Home Shield, the issues do get resolved, often in a satisfactory manner. I would rate their services a 4 out of 5, given the overall outcome is positive, though there is room for improvement in communication and response times.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for nearly 25 years and have generally been satisfied with their services. However, I recently encountered an issue with an appliance repair. The technician who visited was professional and initially seemed to fix the problem by ordering and replacing a part. Unfortunately, the same issue resurfaced a few weeks later, prompting me to submit a new request for repair. Despite this hiccup, I would still rate their service a 4 out of 5.

My experience with American Home Shield over the past 15 years has generally been positive, although my recent interaction involved a significant delay. I had an issue with one of my appliances and reported it on the 1st of January. Understanding the holiday season, I expected some delay. However, it took until the 7th for a technician from Tri-County Appliance to visit. Unfortunately, the delay stretched to nearly a month due to miscommunications and the technician having the flu.

This frustration was only compounded by the knowledge that in today’s market, where most parts can be swiftly sourced from places like Amazon, it shouldn't have taken three weeks to source a part. There was a lack of communication, as I was informed only after my inquiries that their staff had been sick the previous week. On the positive side, the technician who finally completed the service was professional and courteous.

I hold no grudge against American Home Shield, my concerns were primarily with the service provider. Despite this hiccup, I believe American Home Shield is a worthwhile backup for emergency situations, and I'd give them a rating of 4 stars.

We've been dealing with a problematic dishwasher that has caused significant inconvenience, including flooding our house twice, which now requires us to replace all our floors. The only positive aspect of this ordeal has been Oleg, the technician who is always punctual and professional. However, despite his efforts and multiple visits, the dishwasher remains unfixed. The dishwasher breaks down repeatedly, often after just one partial cycle, making it unusable for our family of five.

We've had technicians visit at least a dozen times, which has resulted in lost workdays and the inconvenience of rearranging our schedules. Despite this, American Home Shield seems hesitant to replace the dishwasher, opting instead to continually send out technicians. One technician was notably late, even attempting to visit at 6:38 PM after missing the scheduled window, which was incredibly unprofessional. Ultimately, while the technicians, especially Oleg, have been polite and punctual, the overall service from American Home Shield has been disappointing.

I submitted a claim to American Home Shield because my furnace was not working correctly. Initially, it wasn't working at all, but before the contractor from Red's HVAC division LLC arrived five days later, it started working again. While the process to schedule a contractor was easy, the delay in their arrival was concerning. If my furnace had failed during extremely cold weather, I might have faced a significant issue with potentially frozen water pipes.

Although the contractor was professional, they arrived when the furnace was operational, making it difficult to determine the exact problem at that time. I was charged $125 for the visit, and they suggested my furnace needed servicing without any immediate repairs being conducted. I'm unsure about what American Home Shield has approved for repairs, as I haven't checked their email follow-up yet.

I first got American Home Shield services when considering selling my house, thinking it might be beneficial for potential buyers. So far, I find the communication could be improved, as there was a mix-up and delay in the contractor appointment. Despite some uncertainty about my furnace's condition and American Home Shield's approval status, I'm indifferent at this stage but aware it could have been a more severe issue.

I submitted a work order for my Bosch dishwasher due to an E15 error code. American Home Shield sent Arizona Value Appliance and Repair INC to handle the issue, but the experience was frustrating from the start. It took two weeks for the technician to come out, only for them to simply open the door, turn on the dishwasher, and then leave. The error persisted.

I had to reopen the work order, and it took another week for them to come back. This time, the technician diagnosed a dead motor, replaced it, but the error still showed up. It was infuriating having to go through the process again, only for the problem to remain unresolved.

I requested a different technician after multiple failed attempts to fix the leak properly. Communication was poor, and the process dragged out for nearly two months. I have arthritis in my back, as does my mother, so being without a dishwasher for that long was painful and inconvenient for us.

The representatives I spoke to at American Home Shield were generally helpful and compassionate, which I appreciated. However, being unable to choose my own appliance service contractor was a significant downside. Those I dealt with seemed inexperienced and were difficult to reach, causing unnecessary delays. Ultimately, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and effort to continue with their service.

I would advise anyone with a new home to consider American Home Shield for the initial years due to their strong customer service and coverage. However, be wary of their high costs and the companies they contract with. Despite their expensive pricing, their customer service and coverage quality is decent, but dealing with their contracted repair services was far from satisfactory. Overall, I would rate the entire experience with American Home Shield a 3 out of 5.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield involving a claim for a leaking part in my air conditioning unit. Initially, another company assessed the problem incorrectly, but A&M Air Conditioning LLC identified the issue as a leak in the condenser unit outside. The team from A&M was very communicative, walking me through each step of their process, which I appreciated.

The submission of the claim was straightforward. I called American Home Shield and spoke with a representative, which was favorable since it wasn't an automated system. While I can't recall the specifics of the representative's professionalism, I generally found it satisfactory. Before the contractor's visit, I received their name and contact number, and they reached out to me directly.

If I were to rate this experience, I'd give it a 4 out of 5. The initial misdiagnosis and the proposed costs for freon were concerning, as they nearly matched the repair cost. I believe that when a service promises to fix something, it should cover everything necessary for the repair.

In advising friends and family, I'd say American Home Shield is worth it, but it's important to stand firm and question aspects that don't align with expectations. Overall, I'd rate their customer service, pricing for fees (factoring in that it came with my house), and coverage each a 4 out of 5.

I recently had the opportunity to use American Home Shield, and my experience was quite positive. When I had an issue with a circuit breaker that kept tripping, I reported it online—a process that was quite easy. Ace10 Home Services was dispatched to handle the problem.

The electrician who came to my home was courteous and professional. He introduced himself, we discussed the problem, and he quickly identified and resolved the issue by removing a short within the system. Since then, the circuit has been working wonderfully.

I've been with American Home Shield since I purchased my home in August, thanks to the realtor's recommendation. While I find the deductibles a bit high, I appreciate the efficiency of their service. I've had four service calls, and each time they've addressed my issues effectively.

I tend to manage everything online, so I haven't interacted much with their customer service. I like their website. I had an extremely frustrating experience with American Home Shield. Although the technicians from Sears handled the repairs on my dishwasher and washer professionally and efficiently, American Home Shield completely mishandled the appointments and claims process. They constantly rescheduled appointments and even sent multiple companies for the same issue. They are notorious for playing games and denying claims without valid reasons.

For instance, they sent someone who ended up breaking my AC, which is now making noises and isn't functioning properly. Despite numerous calls, they refused to accept responsibility or send someone who could fix it. As a person with a disability and living in Florida, I depend heavily on air conditioning, and this situation has been severely challenging. They keep insisting no one is available, yet I found someone willing, but American Home Shield wouldn’t issue the necessary work order.

When it came to another issue with my refrigerator, they sent a technician who replaced the fan, but the problem persisted. All my food thawed and spoiled, costing me a great deal. This back-and-forth has been ongoing for weeks, reflecting poor customer service and inadequate resolution efforts from American Home Shield. I strongly advise against signing with them due to these unreliable and distressing experiences.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield for nearly 20 years and typically, their service has been great, which is why I've stayed with them. However, my recent experience with a microwave repair has been disappointing. The initial technician not only failed to resolve the problem but also improperly reassembled the microwave, leaving it partially disassembled with attitude issues. Later, an electrician identified a potential cause related to a burnt circuit, but the technician from ACA, presumedly an affiliate, did not respond adequately or prioritize our issue despite multiple follow-ups.

American Home Shield tried to assist by reaching out to ACA, but the response and service from ACA were frustratingly inadequate. As homeowners trying to sell our house, this unresolved issue is stressful, affecting both safety and property value appearance. I recommend that American Home Shield swiftly transition to a different service provider if one company fails to perform, to prevent extended inconvenience and expenses for the customer. While resolving this issue, we've been forced to eat out daily, further adding to frustration. I hope they improve by promptly replacing inefficient service providers and perhaps assist with replacement costs when necessary.

I had a challenging experience with Express Appliance through my American Home Shield warranty. Initially, my refrigerator stopped working, and the scheduler I dealt with was quite rude and unhelpful, which was frustrating given my disability and the urgency of the situation. It took nearly four weeks to get a service appointment, leaving us without a refrigerator since Christmas.

The first technician who visited only spent about 15 minutes, identified an issue with the ice maker, ordered a replacement, and left without thoroughly checking the refrigerator. When the parts arrived, it took another week for the technician to return. The second technician was more thorough, spending more time diagnosing the problem and concluding that the compressor and control board needed replacement. Despite this, it took over a month without a functioning refrigerator due to delays in receiving parts and scheduling follow-ups.

Ultimately, I found out that American Home Shield capped the repair costs at $2,000, and the costs of the multiple technician visits were deducted from this total. This policy left me with a lower reimbursement amount when the refrigerator couldn’t be fixed and needed replacement. While my experience with American Home Shield's phone customer service was positive, the overall process, due to policy limitations and delays, was exhausting.

In conclusion, I would cautiously recommend American Home Shield due to the initial attempts to help, but advise potential customers to be aware of the repair cost limits and the extended timelines this might lead to.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield. Initially, I had a leak under my bathroom sink. When I contacted them, they claimed it was due to a frozen pipe and that it wouldn't be covered. I ended up hiring an emergency service which cost me a significant amount of money, only to find out it was a simple fix—a loose hot water line that just needed to be screwed in.

When I tried reaching out to American Home Shield again, they said they covered everything under the sink. However, the first technician they dispatched couldn't shut off my water and claimed the job was done. They had to send another person who found that the previous technician did nothing because I had already fixed the issue myself. I was still charged $125 for this non-service.

Currently, one side of my sink still leaks but American Home Shield refuses to cover it, saying it's not their responsibility. My dealings with them have been frustrating. I've contacted them multiple times since moving into my new home in July, mostly to be told that my issues aren't covered, even when the paperwork states otherwise.

For instance, they refused to cover my hot water heater, claiming it wasn’t the right one for the house, despite it being installed when the house was built. Additionally, their promise of servicing the furnace and air conditioner once a year was met with excuses about having to wait until March, which made no sense during the winter months.

I've been using American Home Shield since 2002, and I'm consistently impressed by their service. Recently, I had an issue with my cooktop, where three of the burners stopped working. I submitted my claim online, which was a very user-friendly experience. A representative from Repair Tech Plus came to assess the problem and was very polite, covering his shoes and displaying professionalism. Unfortunately, we discovered that my cooktop model is no longer in production, so replacement parts weren't available.

American Home Shield emailed me options: they offered a comparable cooktop and other models, including both gas and electric options. They also provided alternatives like a gift card from Lowe's or a check. I chose the comparable cooktop, which was delivered promptly. My experience with American Home Shield was not as smooth as I had hoped. I filed a claim for my garage door because the bolt kept falling out, and while the process was easy due to their automated system, I would have preferred speaking with a live person. I was frustrated when they didn't use the $100 service fee that I had already paid to cover the repair costs.

When the technician came out, he explained that it was more of a maintenance issue, which isn't covered by American Home Shield. He recalibrated the door and lubricated parts but didn't really address the bolt problem, which had caused the cable to stretch. I ended up paying $269 for this service, in addition to the $100 already spent, which seemed excessive. The repair has been effective so far, but the cost was a significant concern.

I've had past issues with American Home Shield where they wouldn't allow me to replace parts I purchased on my own. I rate my experience a 2 because of these frustrations. Their customer service is not ideal due to the reliance on automation and the service wasn't fully utilized for my benefit. But the cost seems comparable to similar services and the website is functional and easy to use.

In general, I'd recommend friends or family to compare different companies and read reviews before committing. I've heard positive stories about similar services handling larger repairs, like an air conditioner replacement, but have yet to experience that level of service myself.

However, I didn’t receive a receipt, which I might need for the buyer of my home.

I've been with American Home Shield since around 2016, initially impressed by the service my parents received. I opted for a package that allowed me to cover items like the washer, cook stove, and refrigerator, which was affordable and practical for my needs. Although I haven't used the service much, the occasions I did required assistance were satisfactory.

There was one negative experience related to an air conditioning issue at my mother’s house. The technician was rude and unhelpful, and their service led to an additional expense, as they failed to cover repairs citing issues with the system which needed an overhaul. Eventually, replacing the system led to savings in energy bills, validating my decision to not use that company again. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been mainly positive, and I have recommended them to friends who have also appreciated their service. I plan to continue their services with the purchase of my new home.

American Home Shield has been wonderful to me and I've been so impressed. I signed up in December and was able to start using the warranty the 1st of the year. When I called them up, trying to make an appointment for three things that I needed, the people were very understanding and patient. They explained things, gave very easy explanations, and things went very smoothly.

I had a claim for the HVAC that was not putting out heat. I had it maintenanced by another company and they froze it up. There was two inches of ice outside, there was enough puddle of an ice where everybody called it an ice skating rink, and it was only blowing out part of it. I had two other heaters sitting in the living room. So, I called AHS and they said they were going to send so and so out on such and such a day, and they were going to be from Cool Heat Heating and Cooling Company. They're over on the far side of Eugene which is about 20 miles from me.

The guy who showed up was named Wade and he asked me what was wrong with it. I told it was not heating like it was supposed to. He then proceeded to tell me to quit arguing with him. But I told him that I was not arguing with him. So he got two feet in front of the machine, turned it on high, backed up to four feet, and said that it was working fine. He also looked at the filters and he left. He was here for 15 minutes and I was a little upset. He didn't really do anything. I called American Home Shield again, so their rep made another appointment. I asked if it was going to cost me and she said no because Wade didn't fix the problem. She then said that Cool Heat would send Wade and Ben, because I asked for a different technician.

Five days later, Wade shows up. Nobody else. The fist sentence out of his mouth was, “What seems to be the problem this time?” I told him that it was the same as before and he said, "I told you it was working just fine.” But I told him that it wasn't. And again, he went with his I'm-gonna-argue-with-you spiel. He then said that he was going outside to make a phone call. He was out in his van longer than he was in my house and this time, he didn't do anything. He comes back to the door and he said he was waiting on the warranty company to call him. Moments later, I got a ping from American Home Shield saying that I have an appointment set for February 6th. So I wrote out my review on this guy. He was very curt to me and he didn't want to explain anything or communicate.

I waited a three days, then I called up American Home Shield and I told them that since my HVAC is not working, I went to somebody else's house for a few days. And I told them that I would like to know what this appointment is for. The guy then went out of his way to find out and tell me. He said that the diagnosis was that the motor wheel was dirty and was not blowing out air out of half of the unit. He then called Cool Heat. I was so impressed with this guy. He came back and said that there was going to be two guys in my house on the 6th and they were supposed to do some sort of cleaning. But he said they were not paying for it because they don't claim those items. The first meeting, the guy told me that the motor wheel would cost $200 to $500 out of my pocket to clean. It's an internal wheel.

At this point, the rep told me to hold on again and he called Cool Heat back. When he came back, he said I was going to have someone come out on the 6th to look at it thoroughly and there would be no cost to me. Cool Heat was going to take care of it. So right there, American Home Shield is a 12 out of 10 in my book. Also, their rep did not want me to hang up at all. But he still didn't know exactly what they were going to do or who was going to come over here. On February 6th, there was a knock on my door and a guy younger than Wade came up. Apparently, he had been sitting out in his pickup because he was 20 minutes early, and he said he'd go in and see if he could do something. He said that his name was Sebastian and that he was waiting on Wade. I told him that Wade didn't like me, wouldn't tell me anything, and that he liked to argue. Sebastian said that that was what he does. I then asked him what they were going to do that day and he said they were going to tear my machine apart. And he started taking it off the wall.

There underneath the unit that needed to be moved and when Wade showed up, he didn't say a word to me other than, “All this stuff was supposed to be moved”. I told him that he didn't communicate to me what he wanted me to do and he pretty much quit talking to me after that. So, they tore off my unit, took everything out, wrapped it up, cleaned it internally, lubed this, looked at that, did this, did that, went outside, added some Freon, and checked the connections. They were here for over two hours and they did not fool around. When I went outside, I told them that there was still water and ice. Wade told me that those were supposed to be there. What he didn't know was I was taking pictures the whole time of what they were doing and how they were doing it.

Compared to Wade, Sebastian was communicable and personable. But every time he tried to tell me something, Wade would shut him up. Then they decided to go outside. Wade was also very upset because I have a decorative cover around my outside unit and he didn't like that. In the end, it wound up taking three weeks to solve the problem. I left for a whole week and went to somebody else's house because it was ridiculous that I had to have two other heaters sitting here in the living room to keep me and my animals warm.

On their second trip, Ben was supposed to show up, but it wound up being Wade and Ben. I questioned it and never got an answer. On the third trip, Wade's phone rang and he said to tell Ben to meet him at his house. He said that he didn't need to go to that place, so Wade told Ben not to show up here. Also, I don't like people coming in and being curt with me and telling me I don't know what I'm talking about and what I'm saying is wrong. But I liked that American Home shield stepped in and explained what they could and could not do for me, and that they could communicate for me.

Recently, I had a claim for my dishwasher and I was so impressed with the tech that AHS assigned. He was professional and communicative. Other than that, I was told that AHS covers microwaves only if they're built in. They also cover a hot water on demand unit, but they're not all lumped under appliance. I was also going to have them look at my fridge and dishwasher, and they told me that they're not under the same thing. But the stove and dishwasher are under one heading of appliance. The refrigerator is under another one because of the refrigerant. So, if I would have had the dishwasher and stove looked at, it would have been one service fee. But to add the refrigerator to it means another service fee because of the breakdown of the different departments.

Then, the HVAC is by itself because it's a heating and cooling unit. But exhaust fans, they would cover the one in the kitchen and the one in the bathroom. The lady was so kind and patient in explaining these things to me. But the service fee is not extraordinary and it threw me a little bit. But for the short experience I had, I would give AHS 12 out of 10.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield concerning my dishwasher. It wasn't cleaning the dishes, and when the technician from Amtech Services Inc. came, he identified that the heating unit was faulty. He ordered the part, came out, and replaced it. Once he left, he said everything was good to go and even went beyond expectations by mounting the dishwasher. They were really great to work with. However, after running the dishwasher again to test it out, the dishes still weren't being cleaned properly. I reached out to them, and they're scheduled to revisit to check the issue.

As for the claim process, I used the online system, which was straightforward. You simply log in, specify the faulty appliance, and they assign a technician to you—I found it quite hassle-free.

I've had American Home Shield coverage since purchasing my house, as that's what the company she always uses. On a satisfaction scale, I would give them a high rating because they fulfill their commitments. What I particularly like about their service is the ease of use and straightforwardness, and I can't think of any improvements needed.

I had a plumbing issue in our laundry room, and overall, I'm very satisfied with the service I received from American Home Shield. I initiated the claim process online, which was easy. It provided various options to choose from and to describe the issue and if I wanted to give a description, I could.

After submitting the claim, I received an email that the contractor, On Point Plumbing, had 24 hours and they would contact me with the time and date of their visit. I also got an email that stated that someone was on the way. They showed up and I told them what was going on, then they assessed, fixed and reported it.

When the plumbing team visited, they were friendly and highly efficient. I appreciate that they explained how they were going to fix the issue using a snake to unclog the drain. Now, everything's draining. I couldn't be happier with their service, and I love them every time.

We've had an American Home Shield membership for five years, which we continued after the initial year provided by the previous homeowners. Although we've only used the service a couple of times, I believe it's a reliable safety net to have and I would recommend it to friends and family.

The coverage, customer service, and my overall experience with American Home Shield deserve top ratings. In particular, I would highlight the importance of having something like this in place because you never know when you might need it.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield and their contractor, American Home Appliance Incorporated, regarding my malfunctioning washer. The unit had a bidirectional transmission that would rotate one way to wash and another way to spin. It wouldn't rotate in the wash direction, so the transmission was shot. I reached out to American Home Shield online, and they responded within a couple of days. When the contractor came out, they diagnosed the problem and determined the machine was beyond repair.

American Home Shield provided us with options: either select a new appliance through their site or opt for a buyout. We chose to order a new appliance and it was installed within four days. The new washer had many more features than the previous one, which was quite basic and they don't sell anything like that anymore. I'm very pleased with this upgrade.

American Home Shield has been quite responsive. I've always been satisfied with the contractors they send out. However, their online portal could use a few improvements, like having more options that align with what’s covered in the contract, such as furnace repair.

Overall, I’d recommend American Home Shield to a friend as well as rate them highly. My experience was positive, especially with the enhanced appliance we received.

I've had several experiences with American Home Shield over the years and it's been a mix of both good and bad. Recently, they handled an electrical issue in my home. My house was built in 1972, and it has an old breaker system that shorted out. They sent out McDonald Electric Service, and they did an excellent job fixing it, although I wish American Home Shield would consider replacing the entire system, given its age and safety concerns.

Unfortunately, there have been less satisfactory experiences as well. One technician who came to fix my stovetop made inappropriate remarks about race and religion, which made me uncomfortable. More disturbingly, he chipped the edge of my glass stovetop while reinstalling it, which could eventually lead to further damage. I didn't report him to American Home Shield out of fear of potential repercussions.

Additionally, there was an incident with Gates Electrical or Air conditioning company. They sent a technician who broke the steps leading to my air conditioner, and he tried to solicit extra work off the books. His actions left the air conditioner unfixable until I hired a different company to properly repair it. Even after reporting this to American Home Shield, I only received a refund of the service fee, but they did not cover the cost of repairing the steps or the additional work I had to commission. While I've had some very professional technicians from American Home Shield, like those from McDonald Electric, there have also been numerous issues that make me hesitant to give them a positive review.

I had a challenging experience with American Home Shield when dealing with a heating and cooling issue. The technician, Connor from Pleasant Valley Heating and Air, was initially fine during the diagnostic stage. However, issues arose during the installation phase completed by Wesley. Changes in the estimated work had me requesting a corrected itemized list, which led to Connor reacting aggressively over the phone, accusing me of not wanting to pay.

The thermostat that they installed didn't have the necessary functionality, and when I sought a resolution, they insisted that only Connor could return, despite having other employees who could do the job. This situation was disconcerting as I didn't feel comfortable having Connor return due to his prior behavior. Although American Home Shield refunded the initial service fee, it didn't solve the immediate problem, and I had to purchase and arrange for the installation of a new thermostat with community help. This was my first negative encounter with them, as I usually expect an option for a different vendor when faced with such service issues. While they offered the refund, the lack of alternate options or solutions left me dissatisfied.

I've been a customer with American Home Shield since 2011, and while I've generally had a positive experience with their service, my most recent claim was not resolved to my satisfaction. They denied my claim, asserting that the issue was due to my dog urinating on the unit, although I firmly believe this wasn't the problem. Initially, some part up in the attic had failed and American Home Shield sent the first company out. The guy replaced the part in the attic, but he didn't check and make sure the system was working. He had to come back out and do something else. He replaced the thermostat upstairs. The unit started working, and that lasted for about a week, then it started freezing up outside whenever the temperatures got colder.

They came out and said that the unit was leaking Freon because of where my dog urinated. The outer shell of the unit was involved, but my unit was almost 20 years old and it wasn't even leaking. Once they came in, checked the Freon level and said it was low on Freon, the system worked. It was just low on Freon and I felt they used the situation as an excuse to avoid paying to put the Freon in it. American Home Shield eventually sent another company out for a second opinion and they also indicated the need for Freon. However, the claim was still denied. I needed a new system, and I ended up paying out of pocket for it.

This was the first claim denial I've faced. I have two units, an upstairs system and a downstairs system, and in the past, they've come out and worked on my unit. They've replaced some fan on the unit outside. They also replaced a part for the downstairs system, and they did something else with the air handler at some other time as well. Given my recent experience, I'd rate American Home Shield at a 3 out of 5.

He managed to fix the problem, which was a faulty breaker, in about an hour and a half. He communicated well, arrived on time and called as promised, which was a relief.

However, my past experiences with American Home Shield have not been as satisfactory, particularly with plumbing issues. Previously, it took over two weeks to find a plumber willing to work with them, and when he got here, he resolved an internal faucet leak but couldn't address a more severe issue outside with the graywater tank. I had to make numerous calls and it seemed like finding someone to work with American Home Shield was a challenge, potentially due to low payments or other issues. Despite these past frustrations, the recent positive experience with the electrician has restored some faith in their service. But if this last experience hadn't been good, I might have considered canceling my service.

I've had American Home Shield for about a month and unfortunately, my experience has been anything but reassuring. My ordeal started when my sewer line backed up. I promptly put in a request for service, but it took them two days to find someone to send out. They found Showers Plumbing Thursday afternoon, but they couldn't come out until Monday. The person also did not show up, then the appointment was unilaterally changed to Tuesday without notifying me. I checked my account and noticed they changed the appointment. I took time off work for the morning expecting them only to find out later that my appointment had been changed.

When the company finally appeared on Tuesday morning, they inserted a cable in the wrong area and it ran into a foreign object. They got their cable stuck and it broke off, leaving two feet of cable sticking out of my shower drain. To make things worse, my shower was left filled with sewage because they had not brought the proper equipment. They had driven all the way from Iowa, which is the next state over, and they were not going to return for several days. They left, and American Home Shield refused to cover it and charged me a service fee even though the company wasn't in our service area, which was why they had to drive from three hours away.

Desperate, I called a local company the next day, and they removed the stuck cable and fixed my sewer line. All this took more than a week without functional plumbing, which was incredibly challenging. I had influenza when it first happened, then my child got influenza too. We could barely flush our toilet and we couldn't do laundry or shower. It was terrible.

Overall, I find the warranty a terrible investment. The lack of timely service, the coverage denial, and the ensuing charges were frustrating. I would rate American Home Shield a one out of five. The customer service couldn't do anything, and they did not cover the issue as promised by the warranty.

The company they initially sent did not appear qualified—they had to be called out four times for the oven, with no resolution. Eventually, I insisted on a different company who diagnosed and repaired the problem immediately. For the dishwasher, the first company claimed the issue was due to abuse and said it couldn't be fixed, refusing to provide a report despite multiple requests. I requested a second opinion from another company. They came out, laughed and said it was so simple. They fixed it on the spot.

Financially, this was troubling, as I ended up wasting $500 for the multiple visits. American Home Shield charges $100 per call, and I wasn't reimbursed due to the time elapsed. Thankfully, since the repair by the second company, both appliances have worked perfectly. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I am very dissatisfied with American Home Shield.

I used American Home Shield’s services for an issue with my water heater, which was quite old. I had just moved back into a house I had been renting out, and it stopped working. They sent someone to evaluate it and determined it was normal wear and tear, which meant it wasn't fully covered. Despite this, what could have cost me around $1500 for replacement and $200 for installation ended up only being $400 for parts. I found that to be satisfactory.

The contractor they sent was knowledgeable, managing to navigate a challenge due to the change in hot water heater sizes over the years. It was gonna be a tight squeeze getting through the smaller door to the room that the hot water heater’s normally kept in. The professional work and personable service impressed me, and I would definitely use them again if needed – hopefully, I won’t!

Overall, I’d rate American Home Shield a 4 out of 5. My initial experiences involved some misunderstanding due to common overselling of their coverage, where people tend to claim it covers everything and drastically reduces the cost and they never have any problems. People have to be realistic and it's important to remember the home warranty helps reduce costs but doesn’t cover all scenarios without certain conditions being met. If someone's AC has a freon leak, the company isn't gonna just gonna come out and fill it for free.

I've heard stories from people, “Oh, there was a windstorm. I lost some shingles. So, they completely replaced my roof.” No. The company will have someone come out and patch it up, but people are gonna have to find somebody to redo their roof. That's almost not fair to penalize them for it. Regardless, it's valuable for what it does offer.

The contractor climbed up on their eight-foot ladder and assessed that the fan needed replacement but noted on the work order that a 10 ft ladder was necessary for the job because they would have to get up to the ceiling. Initially, we were denied because they claimed that American Home Shield wouldn't pay for access.

We have a 10-foot ladder, but the contractor has a 10-foot ladder too and I verified from the company that there's no extra charge for using their ladder. We've been in a battle with that now. The contractor said, "We can't do it. It's not safe. We've got to send out two people," but the insurance won't pay for that. The contractor proposed performing the job outside the insurance coverage, suggesting that the reimbursement from American Home Shield was insufficient. I asked for another contractor to be sent out to check and the home warranty company scheduled one. However, when I called that person to change the appointment, they told me that American Home Shield canceled the work order, then I was called by American Home Shield and they offered to give me $135.

Despite these complications, all prior services by American Home Shield had been flawless. However, this recent problematic and time-consuming claim made me reassess their service level, attributing a lower rating compared to my previous positive experiences with them. I've got a dispute with them right now and we've had to escalate it multiple times.

I had a positive experience with American Home Shield concerning a claim for my washing machine. When it stopped working, Sears came out and managed the repair. They ordered the necessary part and returned promptly to install it once it arrived. Since then, I haven't encountered any further issues.

The two technicians who came to my home were super nice and very knowledgeable. I always handle my requests through American Home Shield's online service and the turnaround time is impressively quick. Submitting the request is easy to do, and they have someone at my home within a day.

I've been using American Home Shield for a few years and am quite pleased with their service; I have no complaints. If a friend or family member asked, I would tell them the same.

The only downside is that the price increases every year, which I rate as a 3 out of 5. However, their overall service, especially the online platform, deserves a 5. Overall, I would highly recommend them.

I recently had to deal with a non-functioning furnace, which was particularly challenging as my family and I had to endure quite a bit of discomfort during the winter. The initial issue was the thermostat not working. I tried replacing it, but that didn't help. Eventually, I decided to use my home insurance through AHS to get it fixed.

The problem was just a loose wire, but the difficulty was to follow the path to discover where the loose wire was. He spent two hours here, but he also cleaned the sensors. It took one hour to figure out the problem.

The furnace is now functioning perfectly, and the experience with AHS was quite positive. I would recommend them. However, one area that could use improvement is the scheduling—the appointment took about three days to set up, which was inconvenient.

I submitted a claim with American Home Shield when my heating wasn't working. I used their website to request service, which I found very easy to navigate. I received an email detailing who would come to the property, and I scheduled the appointment by calling directly, as I prefer not waiting.

When the technician from Crispy Air Heating arrived, he was professional and identified that the problem was due to a bad transformer. He ordered the part, and while they were able to schedule it for the next day, I wasn't available, but I appreciated the promptness.

Despite the professional service from the contractor, I was disappointed with American Home Shield because they refused to cover the repair. They claimed it was a pre-existing condition since the issue could be diagnosed by "easily mechanical means," a term they didn't clearly explain even after several escalated calls. It felt as though they were just trying to deny the claim based on their internal policies, especially as it was within the first 30 days of the contract on this property.

Even though I've had American Home Shield for years and generally had no issues with them, this experience was frustrating. They denied the AC repair but refunded the $100 deductible after my escalation. Although their service on a different issue, like my garbage disposal, was handled well and without extra cost, the inconsistency was concerning.

Based on this particular case, I would rate my recent experience with American Home Shield as very low, primarily because of their handling of the AC repair claim despite having positive interactions with them before.

My refrigerator was leaking, and I called American Home Shield for help. By the time the technician from Sears arrived, the leakage had stopped, possibly due to a faulty water filter I had replaced. I had turned off the water supply as a precaution. Once everything was back on, there were no more issues. Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been positive over the years. I've been with them for about three to four years, initially learning about the service from my sister.

The technicians they send, including those from Sears, have generally solved my problems effectively. For instance, a previous dryer issue turned out to be caused by birds nesting near the vent, which they quickly identified and fixed. Regarding their service, I would rate it a 5 out of 5 and recommend it to others.

However, I did face a problem about two years ago when I required a plumber. They couldn't provide one promptly, and although I hired someone I knew in compliance with American Home Shield's standards, they wouldn't reimburse me as this plumber wasn't certified under their service. Despite this, I was charged a $100 service fee for what felt like an unnecessary visit since nothing was actually repaired.

My experience with American Home Shield has its ups and downs. While their customer service is generally great, it was the contractor they hired, National Plumbing, that I had issues with. Initially, we had a problem with the toilets and shower flooding, and National Plumbing's solution was to simply seal the base of the toilets, which didn't resolve the issue. They claimed there was no access for snaking the pipes, which turned out to be incorrect. When we brought in a second plumber, they easily found the access point and fixed the problem. This oversight resulted in us being out of our home for almost three months due to the damage caused. We also had to pay out of pocket to have somebody else come out because the issue that they said was wrong with it was not.

American Home Shield's representatives were always helpful to the best of their ability, but on the downside, their accents sometimes made communication difficult, which might have led to misunderstandings.

Rating my experiences, American Home Shield themselves deserve a 5-star rating for their efforts, although clarity regarding subcontractors like National Plumbing is needed. As for the customer service interaction, due to communication barriers, I would rate it a 4. Despite the pricing concerns, which I evaluate at a 5, I still value their overall effort to rectify the situation with us.

Initially, Winston Doors came out but were more interested in charging me $280 to rewind the garage door than actually fixing the problem. I thought the charge was ridiculous, so I didn't proceed with it. The worker sprayed something that temporarily fixed the issue for about 10 days, but no real repair was made. I scheduled another appointment through American Home Shield, but the service provider never showed up twice. Frustrated, I ended up hiring a local person to fix the issue.

I've been using American Home Shield for about 10 years, and this is the first real problem I've had, though it's more with the service vendor than the company itself. Despite the inconvenience, I've generally been satisfied with American Home Shield until this incident. The overall experience with Winston Doors left much to be desired, but American Home Shield has been reliable otherwise.

I used American Home Shield for an electrical issue in my house, specifically a loose wire in a light switch. The technician they sent was able to resolve it in just one day, which I appreciated. Historically, my experiences with American Home Shield claims have been generally positive, though there have been minor hiccups like technicians not showing up on occasion. However, they’ve always managed to address the issues eventually.

All the technicians who have come to my home have been polite and respectful, providing notifications before their arrival. However, I believe American Home Shield could improve by being more upfront about changes to warranty packages, especially for long-term customers like myself who have been with them since 2000. Overall, I would rate their service a 4 out of 5 stars.

I had a claim with American Home Shield when the toilet in my house started running. The process of submitting a claim online through their website was really easy. I was informed about the contractor, Texas Plumbing Company LLC, who would be attending to the issue and when via email and maybe even a text—I don't quite remember.

When the contractor arrived, he was very friendly and efficient. He quickly identified the problem and replaced a part that's in the back of the toilet. Apparently, we had a special kind of toilet, but he happened to have the part readily available and fixed the issue without any hassle.

I've had American Home Shield since we bought our house a few years ago, as it was recommended to us, and we've continued to maintain it. Throughout my experience with their service, everything has functioned well after repairs.

I haven't encountered any problems and find the service very efficient—problems get resolved quickly. I'd rate the ease of using the website at 5 out of 5. Although I don’t handle the payments directly, I would guess the price is reasonable, maybe a 4 out of 5. Overall, my experience has been easy and efficient, and I would recommend American Home Shield to friends and family.

I’ve had a long history with American Home Shield, having been with them for 30 years. Recently, Hill's General Plumbing Services came to fix an issue where an air gap next to the faucet was spraying water, and a tube below was doing the same. The plumber and assistant arrived the next day, which was a relief since I’ve typically faced delays of a week or more for service. This timing is crucial because I rent out my downstairs, making it necessary to have quick repairs.

Though Hill's did a fantastic job, my overall experience with American Home Shield has been disappointing. It usually takes too long to get things fixed, like when it took over a month to get a washer repaired — a situation that inconvenienced my busy household significantly. Additionally, while their concept seemed excellent when we first subscribed, there are better choices out there now. Therefore, I’ve been contemplating whether to stick with them or just directly pay for services.

It's been pretty challenging dealing with American Home Shield's inefficiency, and while some repair personnel like those from Hill's were good, others weren’t quite up to standard. The coverage itself is decent for my needs, as I have a straightforward, older home. But, responding promptly to service needs remains a huge concern.

I would recommend friends or family to look for another company with better reviews and faster service. In essence, consider your options and make sure the company you choose can deliver prompt and professional service when you need it.

I always use American Home Shield and I have been using them for a long time, ever since I bought my homes. As a landlord, having their service is very convenient, especially for big repairs. Recently, I had some leaks, and Cal Home Construction came out to do the repairs. They were very professional and nice. They fixed two leaks, and I'm waiting for them to give me the parts for one faucet and for the next appointment to get it fixed.

In the past, I’d call American Home Shield for service, but now I set everything up online, which is a lot more convenient. If a friend asked about my experience, I'd say American Home Shield is great for convenience and handling major fixes, but it's not inexpensive, so they should consider whether or not it fits their budget. For me, the service is great and really helps me as a landlord.

I would rate my experience with them 4.5 stars. I think they could improve by speeding up repairs for urgent issues like air conditioning breakdowns, especially since these often happen in the summer. It takes a while because it's expensive, but they get it fixed. In terms of customer service quality, I'd give them a 4. Sometimes it seems like they use overseas agents and I gotta explain things to them. While they're nice, communication could be better.

The delay to a total of about three weeks was due to my unavailability and not any fault of theirs.

I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield regarding a repair for my microwave. I contacted them on January 5th for service. They inspected it and informed me that parts needed to be ordered, which would take a week, followed by another two weeks for the repair appointment. They said they would get the parts. The parts were delivered to the house, so I called and told them that. They still made the appointment and I have it all on my phone, but they didn't show up the day they were supposed to. I called them and they said, "Not all the parts are in." I said, "All the parts are at my house. I told you all that."

That went on for about five days straight of them making an appointment, then when I called to make sure that the appointment was on, I was repeatedly told they were still waiting on the parts. I finally had both Sears and American Home Shield representatives on the phone because I was furious. A rep insisted I provide the part numbers to prove I had them, despite my sending pictures. I read her the parts and it still continue on. When I called Sears to see if they were gonna make the appointment, they still kept saying that they were still missing parts.

The microwave finally got fixed around January 28th, almost three weeks later. I talked to American Home Shield and they talked to Sears. I talked to Sears numerous times too. The repair technician did a good job and fixed my microwave, but the customer service, particularly from Sears, was lacking. It seems they could benefit from some training. I'm not satisfied with my experience with American Home Shield and will look for another home warranty company when my contract ends in June.

Despite the service issues, I don't have a problem with the monthly payment or the $125 service fee, recognizing it as part of the process. However, American Home Shield's influence on their subcontractors' responsiveness could have been stronger. I primarily interacted with them over the phone and found the process quite lacking.

I've had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield concerning my dryer repairs. Initially, New Oak Tech came out because the dryer fuse kept blowing, and despite fixing it once, I faced the same issue with cold air again. The technician advised me to clean out lint from the attic, which seemed unusual, and although I complied, it didn't resolve the problem. The dryer stopped working properly again a month after the initial repair, and I was left with more issues.

When the technician returned, he identified a broken tube connected to a motor in the attic, which was hindering the dryer's function. He attempted a temporary fix and mentioned needing a part from Lowe's, but it has been a lengthy process with approval.

I've had multiple unsatisfactory interactions with American Home Shield's customer service. Despite assurance in their policy about second opinions, they've continually sent the same technician. I even found that my work order was closed and the technician got paid, yet my dryer remained unfixed. Their customer service relays generic responses without practical help. When I insisted on escalation, it led back to the same unresolved solution, and even the technician admitted his truck issues, which delayed further repairs.

Rating my experience, I'd give American Home Shield a 1 for overall satisfaction, primarily due to the inefficiency and repetitive visits without resolution. Their customer service, though polite, is unhelpful, earning them a 2; coverage rates higher due to variety but hasn't benefited me due to ongoing dryer issues. The pricing seems steep, especially paying $125 repeatedly for inadequate fixes, so I'd rate it a 3. With the amount of money that I've spent on my dryer, I probably could have bought another dryer.

Despite my grievances with American Home Shield, they haven't addressed my concerns effectively. I reached out to them, threatening to contact the Better Business Bureau because I felt they were unaware of how their contractors were handling repairs.

Initially, the range touch panel wasn’t responding properly, and my washing machine wasn’t working correctly either. National Platinum was excellent. I specifically told the American Home Shield representative to send someone who really knew what they were doing. In the past, they sent technicians who didn’t really know how to fix the issues, and it turned into several back and forth visits.

This time, they sent someone who immediately knew what he was doing and handled it properly. National Platinum was excellent. The repair process started right away. I showed the technician what was wrong with both the range and the washing machine.

He tested them, went through different steps, and asked me questions about what I had experienced and what he should be looking for. He was trying to understand exactly why I said they weren’t working. Based on what he saw during testing, he made a determination and told me that the office would be calling to let me know the decision.

What I like most is that getting my problem addressed usually doesn’t involve a lot of rigmarole. However, sometimes I reach people whose first language isn’t English, and that in itself isn’t the problem. The issue is that they don’t seem to listen to what I’m telling them. They’re just reading from a script instead of paying attention, and I don’t like that.

It’s fine if English isn’t their first language. But if they’re not fluent enough to understand what I’m saying and handle the situation without relying on a script, that’s a problem. The other issue is that sometimes the people they send out aren’t experienced repair technicians. That just wastes everyone’s time.

I previously called about my range and my dishwasher. Both were having problems with how they were functioning. They sent someone out three times from the same company, and each time they told me there was nothing wrong. The only thing the repairperson did was call the manufacturer’s headquarters and ask what the issue was.

I finally had enough and told them not to send anyone from that company again. I asked them to send someone who really knew what they were doing. American Home Shield said they would, although I shouldn’t have had to ask. When the second contractor sent someone out, he fixed the range in about 15 minutes and determined that the dishwasher needed to be replaced or repaired. I can’t remember that part now. Either way, he took care of it. The point is, he knew what he was doing and he solved the problem.

Overall, the warranty coverage is very good. For me, paying the monthly fee is useful compared to trying to save money for possible future needs, because that money always seems to disappear. In general, when I call about problems, Home Shield takes care of them with very few issues. Only once or twice was there a lot of back and forth that shouldn’t have been necessary.

Recently, I had an issue with my oven and stovetop. When the original people came out to see the oven and the stovetop, they never indicated that my oven needed a piece to go over it, and the wires were just out. Later, when the people came to install the oven, they said they couldn’t install it because I was missing a covering for the oven wires. They left the oven in the middle of my dining room, still unboxed.

I called about it, and the guy I spoke to was rude. When I called back, the dispatcher said he was in the wrong and that all he got to do was resubmit the referral so the oven could be installed. But when I spoke with another representative, she said that because of the contract with GE, they couldn’t send them out again and that they would have to put in a new work order for someone else to come out.

Two or three days passed, and me and my husband ended up paying someone on the outside to just come install the oven. When they installed it, they also put the cover on it and redid everything for us. They also said the oven needs its own circuit because it’s a newer model. They had to do a whole new breaker box just for the oven because it was pulling too much electrical. The electrical people that American Home Shield sent the first time didn’t check everything thoroughly. If this oven had been installed, it could have caused a fire. We paid over $900 for the people just to do everything for us.

For our stovetop appointment, we asked the contractor to call us when they were supposed to come, so one of us could leave work because me and my husband both work about 15 minutes away from home. They never called us, but we did receive an automatic text saying the technician was already en route. We saw them on our Ring doorbell at 11:58 and he said he had just gotten off the highway and was five minutes away. When we spoke to him through the doorbell, he said they were not supposed to wait and that they would just come back. My husband took the rest of the day off because he didn’t want to leave in case they came back.

Later, they reached out to AHS and said that they came and no one was home, but that was a lie. We got the footage showing they came at that time and that we spoke to them. They never came back. That was for the stovetop. We eventually got someone else to install the stove, and they ended up paying us $125 because we have a stove that doesn't work and it's just sitting there.

After everything, they scheduled another appointment for the oven installation with the same company we had issues with. I told them that it was unfair because they already had a record of our bad experience with them. I said they weren’t going to come back to my home and do that to me twice. After that, I never heard anything back.

If I have the money right away and need good service, I would rather pay for it. With American Home Shield, I pay the $125 service fee, but I don’t feel like the contractors give a full rundown of what’s actually going on. If I call a company myself, they’ll come out, dissect everything, and give me all my options.

I’m not satisfied with them because I’ve also had issues before with my breaker box getting hot so I kept calling them about it. I eventually had to pay $1,500 because I felt like something wasn’t right and AHS is not telling me anything. So, finally, come to find out I just need to get a couple of wires to redo my circuit breaker box.

The service is not worth it for major things. It's only worth it for minor things, like a washer and a dryer, or a light fixture that went out. If I’m going to pay for a home warranty, I need them to really dissect everything so I know what I'm dealing with.

It was the clothes washer, and I turned in the claim online. It was easy. When the technicians came out, they worked with the tenant but weren’t able to fix it, so a replacement was approved.

We’ve used Glenn’s Appliance before, and even my tenant is familiar with them. I received an email letting me know who was coming, so I was able to notify the tenant. That was for the initial maintenance on the old appliance.

We’ve been with American Home Shield for a long time, probably since 2012. Sometimes it’s been for our own house, and sometimes just for rental properties. With a rental, especially when you’re not there, it’s easy to call and have someone go out. The process has improved and is pretty simple and smooth. We used to have a $75 service fee per visit, but I think they changed all their plans to $100. I’d prefer it to be $75 instead of $100.

I’m a Realtor, so I’d always heard of American Home Shield. That’s why I originally called them back in 2012. The last few years have been really great. If you asked me 10 years ago, I might’ve said, “Eh,” but recently it’s been great. It takes the stress out of figuring out how to get things fixed, and I think it ultimately saves money because they come out and repair things instead of you having to go buy a new appliance.

I was with American Home Shield for four years, and I am not happy with my experience. I'm very dissatisfied. So I'm rating them negatively, because they put Ukon Appliance in my house even though I made multiple complaints about them.

Ukon Appliance Repair came out to work on a washer and stove oven. At first, the technician didn't want to do anything with the oven. He just kept on postponing everything and said, "Oh, I have to order another part for the washer". I'm like, "What about the stove?"

He said that he’ll look at the stove when he comes for the washer. I'm like, "No, you come and do what you can do now. And I'll wait for a part." He said, "No, that's okay. Next time, until you get the error code again on the stove." I'm like, "Well, can you regenerate the error code and get to see what it shows?"

My concern was not really the stove, as much as the washer. I had the worst experience with this company; they’re really bad. Ukon Appliance is the worst company I've ever dealt with throughout my whole life.

The other thing that they don't wanna do is fix it, but then they go tell the insurance company that they put an order for a part. So the insurance company is afraid to consider this a cash-out deal because they already put a part on order.

But then at the same time, they're not really taking care of the problem. Because either they're lying about the part that's being ordered or whatever it is that they're doing. I just had the worst experience. So I cancelled Home Shield because of Ukon Appliance.

American Home Shield was not able to assist me. They're basically saying, "We cannot get ahold of Ukon Appliance. But then at the same time, our hands are tied, we cannot do anything." They don't care. All they do is just take calls and hang up.

They're lying and not being so up front. And then they cannot resolve the problem. They wait and rely on the contractor. That is not good. Going on three months now, and I have not gotten a resolution yet from both companies, either Ukon or Home Shield.

My claim started on December 11th, and they haven't resolved my washer problem until now. I keep telling them that I need a washer, there are our kids and two adults in the house. And it's not fair that you keep coming with the wrong part. So that's how upset I am.

I went with another company for a home warranty to take care of my washer. And then they automatically assigned Ukon Appliance to me. I told them, "I'm gonna cancel you right now if this is the only company that everybody's using”, and they changed it to a different contractor.

But I still ended up throwing away that washer, and actually bought a new washer just to give myself headache-free.

They did fix it, but it took them a month and a half to do it, so we were without microwave the whole time. My daughter has stage IV cancer and just imagine how that went. American Home Shield hired three different companies to come out, and they kept changing them, so I don't think that was done in a timely manner. Fast Appliance, the last company, did the repair and they just replaced some parts. For the stove, they were supposed to get us a handle and they haven't gotten back to us on that yet, so I'm not sure what the plan is with that. My other warranty company was a lot faster than American Home Shield on getting things done. Every time I’d call American Home Shield, they would say they’d reach out to me the following day, and by the time they get back to me, it was a week. So, I'm not satisfied at all with their service.

The only thing I have an issue with is that I’ve had my fridge go out multiple times in the last year and they just keep sending somebody to try to fix it. It keeps going out and they make me pay for a service call again. It happened six times in the last year and they won’t replace it.

I had an issue with my coils. During my fall cleaning before turning the heat on, the service man said that the coils were extremely dirty and I needed the coils replaced. When the heat pump came on, it made a large straining noise. I got a bid from them, and I didn’t really know it was covered under American Home Shield, so that’s when I called.

When the contractors came out, they said good morning and told me their names, but one of them stayed on the phone most of the time. At one point, I noticed my smoke detectors had been taken down and left on a chair, and I also smelled a burning scent. When I asked about it, they told me everything was okay. I also noticed a wrapping around a cord coming from the heat pump that had dry rotted. When I asked if they could replace it, they said they hadn’t even noticed it.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since we first moved into the house through a housing program that required us to get that. I got out one time because I didn't have the money to pay for it, then I got back on there. What I like most is that I can afford the deductible and that AHS responds in a timely manner and is available 24/7. Depending on the contractor, they will come regardless. Although sometimes the contractor is kind of slow because they’re just a one-man show.

They also screen the companies in a little more detail. I once had a contractor who was very disrespectful to me when looking at my dishwasher and told me I didn’t need one. That made me uncomfortable, and I asked that the company never be sent to my house again.

I have recommended American Home Shield to others. I recently told one of my church members about them. She has been talking about several things in their house that have malfunctioned, and I told her that she needs to get this program I'm on because I have never had to worry about it. I’ve had things fixed through the service before, like electrical issues when my lights were flickering, and that technician was very good.

The other guy that came was for the garbage disposal. My wife tells me that I've got a slight leak now that I didn't have before, so I'm not satisfied with them. I haven't had a chance to call the contractor back because I was getting ready to call American Home Shield and see if I can get out of it because I'm getting sick of them.

The only negative thing I have to say about American Home Shield is that they jumped the price up $50 on me. We started out at $50. Now, it's $132.99 per visit. The price that I paid was more than double.

I’ve had American Home Shield for almost 10 years, since I bought the house. They get back with me with somebody coming out to repair something when I need it. Sometimes, they’re not really particular with some of the companies they deal with. They always come up with excuses. Also, the vendors try to get me to pay more out of pocket than anything else on one project I had. The garage door guy was really good though, and so was one of the electrical guys who came out before.

As the appointment got closer, the company contacted me and gave me a smaller window for when they were going to arrive.

The service was good. It was the same guy who had come out earlier in the year when I had an issue with my dishwasher. He ran tests to narrow down what it was and then ordered the parts. He then came back once the part was delivered to my house and fixed it.

Our heater was blowing cold air, and they came out several times, and before they could fix it. He came out and replaced several parts until he got it done. They were great. Every time we told them that it wasn't working yet, they had no problem letting us know that they were coming back out. When I need to do a recall because my insurance only paid for so much and I had to do another recall on it, they showed me how to do that because I had no idea. American Home Shield could cover more, and I'd like to be able to pick what they cover. Because I don't have a pool and they cover that, and I'm sure I'm paying for that.

They're wanting to replace it with a different brand than the brand that we currently have throughout our house. I put a claim in for my toilets and also for one of my water hose bibs. The toilets were constantly leaking. Prior to putting this claim in, I had already put a claim in months prior to that, but the issue had not gotten fixed.

The thing is, I work away from home, so I travel away for months at a time. I came back, and when I came back, I was notified by the city, San Antonio Water System, that I was using a lot of water at times when we weren't even home, so I needed the issue addressed. Come to find out the toilets were all leaking through from the tank to the bowl, constantly running.

So they got here. They finally did the test to where they found out what it was. I knew what it was, but it was never addressed. Anyway, they addressed that. They went ahead and changed out the internals in the tanks, stopped the toilets from running. They get to the water bib out back.

And it seemed like the technicians just really didn't wanna do the job, because he gave me a couple of reasons why. “Well, we can't do the job.” And I asked why. And the first thing he told me was, “Oh, it's outside of your foundation”. I said, “Well, no. The water bib is not outside of my foundation. It's coming out of the house, and it's on the house. So, it's not outside of my foundation.”

And then he says, “Well, I'm not sure what caused it to break.” And I told him, “Well, it's probably because that's the original bib from when the house was built back in '96.” Everything on that was original because part of the build had the bib coming out of the back of the house. However, there was PVC that the bib was connected to, which comes out of the house, which is on the house.

And he says, “Oh, we're not gonna be able to fix that.” I asked why. And the first thing he said was that it was outside of the foundation. And then he says, “Well, maybe the cold weather caused it to break.” I said, well, “Well, I don't think that the cold weather would have caused it to break, being that the coldest it got down here in South Texas during that time was only 50 degrees.” And he says, “Okay. Well, let me go ahead and call American Home Shield to see if I can get an approval.”

And when American Home Shield called me back, they said, “Oh, well, according to the technician, he's saying it's broken or it broke off because of the freeze.” And I told American Home Shield representatives that. I said, “Well, no. It didn't break off because of the freeze, because it didn't freeze here. It's only 50 degrees.” “Well, we can only go by what he puts on his report.” I said, “Well, that just doesn't make sense.” And he says, “Well, this is where we're at.” And I said, “Well, I disagree.”

They sent out another plumbing company. This was ASAP. ASAP was the second one. Ambition came out prior to that. And I found out later on that they're all buddies, ASAP and Ambition. So, they're given the same diagnosis ‘cause they don't wanna fix it.

But what it is is they're trying to charge me out-of-pocket $700 to fix it, because they said, “Oh, well, if we do it, American Home Shield doesn't approve of it. Then we'll just charge you $700 and we'll fix it for you.” I said “$700 to replace the bib? That doesn't even add up to me. It doesn't make sense.” He says, “Well, that's where we're at.”

And I said, “Okay. At this point, I don't need your services. I appreciate you guys coming out. But at this point, I'd rather do it myself. Because if I run to Home Depot and buy a bib and buy the little part myself, it would cost me maybe $30 at most. And I can do it myself. But the whole issue is I pay for warranty, I pay for service, so I expected my service to do that since it's already paid for.” And they said, “Well, this is where we're at.”

And one of the companies -- I don't know if it was Ambition or ASAP -- took pictures of it and sent it in. And I was talking to American Home Shield representatives, and I was asking them, “Well, one of the companies said that it was outside of the foundation. Can't you look at the pictures and see that it's not outside of the foundation?” And he says, “Well, we have to go by the technician's report.”

I said, “I understand what you're saying. You have to go by the technician's report. But at some point in time, we've got to make sense of what's going on. Look at the pictures and you'll see that it's not outside of the foundation.” This is basically what happened. AHS never helped at all.

I asked him how to prevent the issue in the future and what I could do for maintenance. He explained everything I should do, what products to buy, how to use them, and even explained it to my husband as well. I was very pleased with him.

The customer representatives I’ve spoken to were polite, nice, and willing to help. I wish the price wasn’t expensive. The price has gone up, which isn’t fun, especially when we're on a fixed income.

I had an issue that ended up being with the control box or breaker panel in my breaker box, though we didn’t know that at the time. They came out, fixed it, and I had no problems at all. It was resolved quickly. I’ve only been with American Home Shield for about three months and I usually submit requests through the app.

I live in South Alabama, and we had a rare situation, we usually only see snow about once every 20 years, but this time we got a foot of it. It shut the whole county down because we don’t have snowplows or salt trucks or anything like that.

American Home Shield was trying to get someone out there, but they couldn’t because the roads were shut down and weren’t safe. It was kind of a perfect storm. They did everything they could. Even though it took a while to get someone out, they were trying, it’s just that nobody was available to send. It wouldn’t have mattered if it was American Home Shield or anyone else.

They returned about a week later to complete the repair. They refunded the $125 service fee so we could purchase a space heater. Since the repair, everything has been working fine.

The only thing is, we are in Minnesota and when the furnace goes down, we would like to have this attended to immediately rather than waiting for at least 24 hours. Also, the service charge is increasing every year. Otherwise, they've been good.

My heating wasn't blowing out hot air. It wanted to click on, but it didn't. There were a few different issues going, and he found that it was a bad switch in the component.

I put the claim in on a weekend. Th contractor called me a couple of days within the first part of the week. The tech was excellent. He explained what was going on. He showed me a couple of other issues with the system. He handled himself professionally.

I'm not gonna be with AHS very much longer, though, because I had a really bad issue with them previous to this last call. I called December 4th to get my garage door fixed. They sent me somebody, but that person wouldn't have been able to come out until the 18th of December. I called back and old them that's too long. I need to be able to have access to my garage. I asked, "You don't have anybody else that can come out sooner?"

So what they did was they cancelled the appointment on the 18th instead of holding on to that appointment to make sure that they can find me another appointment, which they weren’t able to d so. To make a long story short, this happened a couple of times. I didn't get my garage door fixed till January 8th when they finally got somebody to come out. And it was the original people that they had first initially set me up with.

They came on the 8th and fixed it. And then I had another issue that was part of what they had to do to fix my garage. There was another part which when they have to replace the part, the spring, the spring was covered. But the balancing of the door that you have to do when you replace the spring was not covered. So I was out of pocket $300 and something, not counting the service fee that I had to pay, which was 125.

Having American Home Shield has been a complete waste of my time. I had a plumbing problem, and they sent a plumber who tried to scam me out of $2,500. When I complained, nobody really seemed to care. They then sent another plumber who completely changed his opinion about what the problem was and was totally wrong.

After that, they wanted me to pay about $900 out of pocket to excavate something that should have been covered. It wasn’t really excavation just because you move some dirty out of the way. They could’ve done it by hand. But they still said I had to pay $844. American Home Shield told me I was responsible for that cost, so I hired my own plumber instead. That’s how bad it was.

It’s my pressure regulator valve. I made a service request because I had a lot of vibration and banging in my pipes, and I also couldn’t get hot water to my master bathroom. The plumber the warranty sent said my water heater was fine, so American Home Shield wouldn’t cover fixing the actual problem, which was the shower cartridge keeping me from getting hot water. According to him, that wasn’t covered.

For the PRV, he said he couldn’t find it and told me I’d have to pay $2,500 out of pocket for them to dig up my yard. It turns out it was above ground and clearly visible, where it’s supposed to be within 12 inches of the city main. So yes, I’m livid.

I highly recommend American Home Shield for anybody looking for a home warranty. I've had them for several different homes. I moved around a lot over the course of five years, and I've had nothing but great experiences with them.

The price is reasonable, and customer service is all online and super easy. They are good with big repairs like the refrigerators and freezers. They nickel and dime you – like if an outlet is out, it’s still a $135 service call – but they’re very generous and helpful when it comes to long-term projects.

My most recent service request was that the heating completely froze. There was a big block of ice from the inside out. AJ, the guy who came out from Reliable Heating and Cooling, was awesome. He was super nice and very helpful. It took him two times to fix it because the first time, he thought it was one thing. It's been working great ever since. He even said that if it’s broken again, he was going to come out and put it on his truck and fix it. He was so willing to get the thing figured out.

They’d say, "Well, we've ordered it. We have to wait. We have to get it from this source." And finally, they say, "Okay. Once they ship it, then we'd get a tracking number." Still, we were freezing. It didn't matter if they kept us in the loop or not. We were freezing.

I was very dissatisfied. It was in the dead of winter and we were just dying. I actually suggested the whole time to just cancel the policy and go with someone else. That's how horrible it was.

Having a warranty like AHS is just convenient. They sent out High Priority Plumbing to look at my water heater. They then determined that they needed to replace it, so they replaced my water heater. Everything's good now.

American Home Shield sent Pronto Plumbing to fix a water leak. I can't say that person really made me feel at ease. It was like, "Oh, well, let's just go through the process." That's how I felt behind it. But once I broke the ice with him, he was pretty cool. He explained to me what was going on. That much I appreciated. What I did not understand is why he didn't tear down more of the drywall because there was a leak behind there as well. He basically repaired what he saw, pulled down some of the drywall. But there was another leak that was behind the wall as well. Now, I understand that he was fixing what he initially could see. But when you have a leak and you've got damp drywall, why not just pull all of it down? But he was still cool. That's all I can say.

It's better now, but I wound up having to call Pronto again. What I did not like was the fact that I was told, "Well, we're gonna call you right back," and they never called. And I wound up calling the following day to say, "Hey, you said you were gonna call me back because we found this other leak and it too was gushing" Well, it was a slow leak, but then eventually, it started gushing as well. So I didn't appreciate it. Then finally, she did call back. She's like, "I'm so sorry. We will call you back."

By this time, I got even more water all over my laundry room floor." And then, when I got the call back, they said it would be another charge if I had them to come back out.

I wouldn't say that I'm dissatisfied with American Home Shield. The only thing I don't like about American Home Shield is the fact that, half the time, you can't get somebody who really speaks clear English. This was one of the few times that I did reach somebody who was English-speaking, but that person was really just real nonchalant. It didn't make me feel as if my business and everything was valued, let alone my emergency.

Having American Home Shield is cost-effective, considering you don't have to pay out of pocket a whole bunch of money. But the quality of the service provider is to be desired. It's almost like you get what you pay for.

Sometimes it takes five or six days for American Home Shield to get somebody to fulfill my claim. If it were a heating problem in the winter, that would be severe, or if it’s an air conditioning problem in the summer, that would be severe as well. Other times it takes more than one visit because if a part needs to be replaced, they frequently have to order it. They don’t always carry every part possible on their truck, so it can take a couple of visits. Usually two visits resolve it. On one occasion it wasn’t resolved at all and we had to purchase something new, but they got it repaired this year.

For my recent garage door issue, they came when they were supposed to come. The people from 495 Garage Door called prior to their arrival to let me know they were coming. When the technician arrived, it was a simple fix. He wasn’t here longer than 45 minutes. He did an excellent job. It was done thoroughly and quickly.

Everything has been good with American Home Shield. The technicians that come have all been good, friendly, and they've been doing their work. There was some circuit problem from the living room to the guest room upstairs and that affected the microwave, and with this particular issue, putting the request took some time. American Home Shield allocated the contract to a certain company, but she didn't turn up ‘cause she was sick. I took the time off from work and nobody came. They transferred the contract to another company who wanted to come out, but they called me, my phone was off, and they didn't call my wife's phone. I called them back and they told me they were not scheduling. I called American Home Shield, the company called me back and they told me they were coming. They came and they solved the issue.

My water wasn't getting hot and my heat wasn't blowing in my house. Long story short, Budget came out to my house because of that issue. And once they got out there, they thought that I wasn't receiving any power from the gas itself. So apparently, because my gas company is doing work in my area and they're switching out everybody's meters and stuff, they disconnected my service and didn't tell me that they disconnected my service.

So I basically filed a claim for nothing. They didn't actually end up having to do anything, but they were very pleasant and they told me what was going on.

I filed a claim on Thursday night, American Home Shield got somebody to reach out to me on Monday morning, they were out the next day and got that fixed. He came by and he tested everything, made sure the mechanism wasn't messed up. I came in and saw that he changed out the spring, tightened up the chain for me, and he adjusted the door so that there's no lights in the gap. So, he was great.

I'm very pleased with American Home Shield. I called and spoke to a representative from another country, and most of their customer service seems to be foreign based. But he was very helpful. Took the time, asked me and documented all the things I was talking about, and then this other guy reached out probably within 24 hours. I had four appliances that needed to be looked at. My washing machine, the agitator wasn't moving. You could hear all the parts working, the electronics, everything, and he determined that the bearings were bad, and not a fixable issue. The refrigerator wasn't cooling right. He replaced the defrost bulb and it's working perfect now, no problem. With my dryer, it took two loads to run to dry instead of one, so he had to replace the element on my dryer. He showed me that it was the element in that was bad because he showed me the parts, and it was very informative how he explained things so I could understand what was going on. The oven wasn’t working right, so we just decided not to use it. It was just a simple part and he got it fixed. I really enjoyed him. He showed up before 8:00 in the morning, came in and looked at everything, decided how to come up with the right parts. He came back about two days later and had everything fixed in less than an hour. It wasn't difficult for him because he knew what he was doing. He was very sincere. I've got to call the company because they will either send me another washing machine, or I can buy another one and they’ll reimburse.

They just had another gentleman in here this morning on my plumbing that I called about. He checked everything out and explained it very well. He won't be the one coming back to fix it, but I guess, somebody with his company will be and it’s a pretty good-sized company. He was in and out in about 35, 40 minutes, but I didn't rush him. We got everything covered, and I know what to expect whenever they finalize what's covered and what's not. It's a lot of water leaks and he did test the pressure and he said that it would definitely below the maximum pressure because it's city water. He said, sometimes, city's water has to be real strong because there's a lot of people pulling off of it going down the pipe, and kind of closer to town and some of those on the far end. But he said he's seen it as high as 400 pounds per inch, but mine was only about less than 80. He said if it's more than 80, then that maybe why it's causing things to leak and I was nowhere near that.

There's lots of companies out there, but the way the guy from American Home Shield explained everything to me, it sounded good.

I had to wait 30 days before they took out the first payment. They took only about $50 a month, and my service calls were $100 that they take that out prior to the guy coming. So, I was gambling a little bit ‘cause I'd already spent $150 before the first guy walked in the door. But I'm very glad I did. American Home Shield approving a new washing machine alone is gonna be about $1,100. And then, his service fee to fix each of these three appliances, on a separate service call it would have been about 150 each, plus the parts. So, I'm looking at about another $600 for three parts fixed, so that probably would have cost me close to $2,000 to get all that done on my own. If they handle it on the plumbing just like they did with the appliances, then I will be forever grateful.

The dryer wasn’t heating, and the clamp holding the washing machine drum was broken. The drum was banging around, and when I poured water in, it came out onto the floor because the drum wasn’t set properly. I called American Home Shield, spoke with an agent, filed the claim, and got a claim number.

They followed up and told me who would be coming out and gave me their phone number. The process was very easy, and I’ve never had a problem with it. Affordable Appliance came out and fixed both the washer and the dryer. They were superb, and I was really happy with the service.

The technicians were very efficient and knew exactly what they needed to do. They were personable and friendly and made me feel at ease. They explained what they were doing, which helped because they were strangers in my house. That made me feel comfortable with them. I like that part.

They let me know they needed to order a part, and they handled that in a timely manner. As soon as the part came in, they called me and came out as soon as they could. Everything is now working like new. It’s functioning the way it’s supposed to.

I pay a monthly fee. Some people say they pay every month and never need it, but you pay life insurance the same way and may never need it until the end. You pay the premium for peace of mind. If an appliance goes out, all I have to pay is the deductible when I file a claim. The contractor comes out, repair it if they can, and if it needs to be replaced, the warranty replaces it. I like that I don’t have to come out of pocket for that, and the premium is pretty affordable.

The only small issue I had was when my air conditioner went out. I read insurance policies all the time, but they’re not written in plain terms. I didn’t understand that I would have to pay out of pocket for the coolant because I wasn’t in a certain program or option. I don’t know if that was my ignorance or them not making that clear.

That said, they can’t explain everything to everyone, and I’m sure they have a lot of customers. Overall, I think American Home Shield is doing a good job. I’ve had no problems with them.

American Home Shield sucks. They can never get anyone to come out and service my house. Why am I paying all this money for? Rhey can’t get a plumber or an AC technician. They can send people for other things in the house, but they can’t get anyone out here for my heater. I’ve been without heat for a month. I’m using propane heaters because American Home Shield keeps saying they’re going to send someone, but nobody calls or shows up.

The technician from Cool Comfort was rude to me on the phone and tried to call me a liar. He said he never set up an appointment, even though he had me waiting all day. When I called him the next day, he told me, “We never set up anything.”

We had American Home Shield in Florida and never had a problem there. They were great and always showed up and did what they needed to do. For some reason, up here, they can’t get anyone out, even though there are plenty of companies around. I don’t know what the problem is.

The home warranty keeps trying to send technicians from three hours away. No wonder they don’t want to come. When I get on the phone with American Home Shield, I get nowhere. I end up getting angry and cursing because it’s so frustrating. I don’t need that in my life, especially when I’m paying for a service. I wish I could get a refund for all the money I’ve given to American Home Shield.

I called American Home Shield and told them I had a problem with my dryer. A gentleman from Perks Appliance and Repair came out to fix my dryer. He tilted the dryer, knew what was wrong with it, did some kind of temporary fix to it, and it started right back up again. I called American Home Shield. And they were willing to fix the problem. But I’m like, “The gentleman could have fixed the problem the first time he came here.”

Then, they tried to charge me again for the same issue that the gentleman didn’t fix in the first place. So, I escalated it up to the supervisor and they called me. And they said that they will fix it, no charge to me. But at that point, me and my wife, we were like, “That’s unacceptable. You’re going to try and charge me for something that they should have fixed the first time.” So, that was my reason why I canceled my policy or my subscription. I got the warranty in case things go wrong with my house, I need something to fall back on to get it fixed.
