    I am referring American Home Shield to relatives. It's been such a wonderful service to us, especially once with a very serious plumbing problem, and once with a very serious air conditioning problem. We're paying a monthly fee to end up with an outstanding service that would have cost us a great more than that monthly fee ever could. We are given a list of things that we can put on the policy to be serviced. We've had washing machines checked and a dishwasher serviced as well. There have been times we were dissatisfied, but when we called American Home Shield and expressed that, they made everything right.

    My most recent experience with American Home Shield was as satisfying as most of them. We had the air conditioning unit on our roof checked out because we're changing from gas heating to electric cooling, and we have it checked out every year. It was very thoroughly done. We requested the repairman specifically because last season, he came out and did an excellent job as a follow-up after another company that we complained about came out and did a very poor job.

    I had some issues and questions as far as how much chlorine, how to measure the chlorine using checks and balances, how to get rid of green algae, and other issues that every pool owner has, and American Home Shield has "servicing swimming pool" document available on their website. I opened it up and it was excellent. I printed it off and have that in my file now too. However, the price has gone up quite a bit in the last two years. We are both retired now and are on fixed income, plus our supplements. It's a hard difference there, jumping to $20 above what we were paying before.

    I would recommend others get American Home Shield, especially if they have an older house like I do. My claim gets done but though not always in a timely manner. I called in a service for my refrigerator and the first time that they came, the technician said he needed to buy a water filter and that would fix the issue. The very next day, the refrigerator was leaking. I called back and another guy came. He was nice and figured out what the problem was. It wasn't the water filter. The water housing was busted so he had to order one.

    When he came back to put the water housing in, he said that a pan under there was broken so he had to order that and come back. He was supposed to come back and they kept sending emails that he was on his way. At 7:30 pm, I called and asked if he was coming. They said, "He's coming, but do you wanna reschedule?" I told them I was not taking another day off work. I was taking off work each time they come. He came here at 8:30 at night on a Monday and I got to got work on Tuesday. I was very unhappy. But it wasn't his fault. They overbooked him. Recently, I got my air conditioner tuned up and had to pay for it. The people are okay, but they are always foreign and I have a hard time understanding what they're saying.

    I had my AC checked about a month ago. It was a free service through American Home Shield which went well. I had some renovations done to my garage and was asking them if I could add on more service for it. They said no and that I would have to get a new policy for that. Once my policy expires, then I can add my garage. But until then, I would need two policies, one for the house and one for the garage. I don't think that's fair.

    I have a level of trust with American Home Shield. I haven't had any bad experiences with any of the contractors that have come. I made the assumption that American Home Shield was gonna send someone reputable. I sent in a claim for the microwave and the tech came out and looked at it. Based on his experience, he determined what was wrong and that was exactly what the problem was. He ordered the parts, and then came back about a week later when he had the part. He took the microwave down, did the repair, and put it back up. It's been working ever since. American Home Shield kept me from having to buy another $700 microwave. I have rather expensive appliances and tankless hot water heater and those things would be very expensive to replace. So it's worth it to me to spend 100 bucks or so a month. If something major happens, they got it. It gives me peace of mind.

    Most of my experiences with American Home Shield were good. But there were some episodes where there were a lot of hiccups. There was something that was related to the electric service and I was told it would not be covered. I couldn't figure out why it was not covered because it seemed like it should be. The service person who came down the first day didn't do the thing right. Then they said they would come the next day. But he didn't come. Then he came on the third day. He did nothing major. I was expecting it to be smoother.

    The recent claim that I had was good. But for the last three years, I've been having problems with my air conditioner in the summer. The contractors would say they fixed it but I still had the same problem bouncing back and forth. But the guys that came out here last month were pretty good and detailed on what they were doing. Overall, my experiences are good in submitting the claims. The American Home Shield reps have been all been good. The customer service is great.

    When I have a claim, I put it on the website and then American Home Shield assigns a vendor. The vendor reaches out and schedules a good time and date if that works. Then they come out and pretty much troubleshoot whatever needs to be repaired. So far, so good.     American Home Shield sent me an email about their preventative maintenance. I had two different AC companies come to my house to do maintenance. One of them was Same Day Repair, and they were good. They told me that there was a part that needed to be replaced. The gentleman came and he went upstairs and brought me a part and told me that part needed to be replaced. So, then I thought he was gonna order the part. I did not know that the part was replaced right then and there. He told me, “This part needs to be created and we need to create a work order.” I said, “Okay.”

    The consultation was free initially. The maintenance repair was free, but then because the part needed to be replaced, he called AHS and I said, “Yes, I agree.” I needed to pay my part, which is $100. Then, apparently, he changed the part and I did not know that he changed the part. Two weeks went by, and I was waiting. I reached out to the company and I said, “Well, I'm waiting for the part. Do you have the part?” They clarified right then that the part was changed the same day the tech was here. I said, “I was not aware. They did not share that with me.” Well, can you send me some pictures?” They sent it, and they said that it was changed. So far, so good.

    Submitting a claim was good for the most part. There was just one time that it wasn't as smooth as I wanted it to be. But half of it was not on the company itself. It was on the contractor that they contracted. When I had an issue with my garage door opener, I made an appointment and everything went well. The contractor showed up on a Friday and he didn't have the pieces that he needed, so he had to reschedule for next Friday.

    The next Friday came around and he came to fix it. He said that in order to fix the belt, he had to replace the garage door opener rollers. But the rollers were not covered under warranty, so I had to pay an extra $290 to get the rollers replaced. I told him I don't want the rollers replaced because I could do it myself since they were about 30 bucks on Amazon and I could just install them.

    He told me that he couldn't replace the belt unless they replaced the rollers. He said that the door had to be balanced. But I didn't want to pay the $209 because I already paid $100 for the warranty so they can come out here. So he rescheduled again for next week and then I ended up replacing the rollers myself. The contractor came back the next week to fix the belt. He said there was something wrong with the door and that he would replace it because they couldn't keep coming out here. But it took three times for the belt of the garage door opener to be replaced when it could be done the first time.

    A plumber came out for my kitchen sink. The drain was backed up so he had to snake it out. He also fixed my kids’ bathroom faucet. I was happy. But my experience with another claim was awful. The electrician fixed the problem quickly and saved me a lot of holes by going through my attic and getting the power reconnected in my bathroom. But my problem isn't with the electrician, Queen Electric. It's with American Home Shield. I have four holes still in my wall. I was trying to resolve this yesterday with American Home Shield but could not get a manager that speaks pure English to assist me. They are trying to give me a $525 cash payment versus sending someone out here to do the work. I do not want that.

    During the tune up, the provider noticed that there was something else that needed to be fixed. I ended up filing a claim so the problem could be fixed and not cause additional damage to the unit. I prefer the online portal because I like to make things happen quickly. But on that particular day, their systems were down so the online portal couldn't help. The person on the phone could not help as well. There should be some SOP that American Home Shield's people are empowered to say yes to certain types of situations. Their provider told me the problem is covered by American Home Shield. But for four hours, no one could give me a decision because no one could say, "We'll tell the providers to go ahead and do it." Their preference was, "There's nothing we can do about it. They can leave then you can schedule for someone else to come out," which was ridiculous to me.

    American Home Shield has always been great. I had to have my stove replaced one time. I also call them out every year to have my air checked and redone. I just had to have them replace the unit.     My air conditioning wasn't cooling and All Hours Mechanical came out and assessed everything. The techs said I had a coil leak and they were gonna have to make modifications and change this and that because it was the old Freon. Then, American Home Shield said my part would be 400 some dollars and they were gonna pay up to $800. I was thinking that I was covered up to $5,000. I opted to not do the work and take the payout of the $800 that American Home Shield was gonna give me. I hired my own contractor and they're putting a brand-new unit in tomorrow. People should read every bit of small print. They should not go by what AHS tells you over the telephone because they don't match.

    The reps were friendly when I called American Home Shield. They called me back and scheduled the service. Then, the technician called and it was flawless. He was friendly and professional. AHS charges more than other home warranty companies. But I would recommend them because they come out when they say they're going to. And they replaced the product.     I had a home warranty and then it got sold to American Home Shield and it's been a year since I switched over. There was an issue with one of my toilets and I had a dryer vent cleaning done recently. I also had an AC tune-up and an issue with my AC at one point. I filed the service requests through AHS’ website and it’s manageable but not as good as the previous company’s. It seemed like the options to select your issues were a little limited. I remember having to pick something else for the toilet and then explaining it in comments. And it seems like they don't offer the same services that the previous company did before it was moved to American Home Shield. In my old contract with the previous company, one of the things that was available was window washing and that is no longer an option, it seems, under this new contract. Some other things that were available don't seem to be available in this new contract.

    I had problems with both companies with trying to get ahold of somebody to talk to. But the contractors were good. It took a couple of times for the toilet but the contractor for the AC found the issue quickly. I had to wait for them to come out though. I had to tell them my wife has asthma and the AC needs to be done. And for the dryer vent, the contractor just had to do the cleaning. I would recommend AHS because it's a good benefit and very helpful.

    AHS has been pretty good for me and my experience when submitting claims has been excellent. I do it through the portal and the website is very user-friendly. The contractors are very professional, neat, and clean and they clean up behind themselves. One claim was for my stove and they troubleshoot it with me on the phone. Then, when they couldn't figure it out, they dispatched a tech and he corrected the problem for me.

    I tried to do the AC inspection last year but it was all booked. So, I ended up doing it this year. Same Day Air came out and it was fast. The guy was friendly. He went up to the roof and checked the AC. I needed a condenser replaced and he was able to call it in and get that approved. The deductible that I paid was just for them to come out, service the AC and check it out. So, I had to pay an extra deductible for them to replace the condenser. My parents referred me to get American Home Shield, which was why I got it. People should get it. I had an issue with a faucet recently and I put in another claim for that. The repair guy came out and fixed it. So, AHS is good to have. I shopped around and the price isn’t ridiculous. It is a good price per month.

    I had the tech come out for the free inspection of the AC unit and he was professional. He showed me the issues and gave me recommendations on what I need to do. He couldn't do the inspection because the meter board was reading low. The coils need to get cleaned before he can do the inspection but he didn't try to clean the coils. I had to wait for the temperature to be at a certain level. It was cold outside so the coils couldn't be cleaned. You have to take out the pieces and then spray it. He said to call back and they should be able to send somebody to do that. But the temperature is getting better now. I wasn't sure if they would do it or not, so I never called back. As a first-time homebuyer, if you don't know what's going on in the house, getting a homeowner insurance probably is your best bet. Then, you can make a decision from there, if it's good for you or if it's not.

    A repairman came, checked my air conditioner, told me it wasn't working and to place a work order in. But it was working before he came, so I don't understand why I have to put a work order in. I ignored him. American Home Shield has people who come and check whatever you need. What I like the least is the deductible you have to keep paying then you still pay for other stuff. I even put a comment on one of the emails I got from them but didn't get a response back.

    I've used American Home Shield a couple of times for a few things. A couple of them worked out well. They repaired a refrigerator and replaced ceiling fans. The only thing that's been interesting with both of them is they recommended that I take a cash-out and go with newer stuff than a piece for piece replacement. I chose to do that with the ceiling fans because my wife wanted a different style than what was there.

    I had a call for my hot water heater which was about to die. It was clunky but because it's still producing hot water, there was nothing they could do. It makes noise but I have to wait till it dies. They said, "I'd recommend if you cash this out, go with a tankless one." They were giving me options. I had a claim where they discovered a roof leak and mine's covered with that. But American Home Shield couldn't find anybody. They told me to find a person then they would reimburse me. I couldn't find anybody either. But what I like is the ease of making the service call. Except for the roofing people, I get a call and they're scheduled very quickly.

    The two times I called American Home Shield, they were great. They had a deal so I had somebody come in to check my HVAC. I have a loft apartment with very high ceiling, so I can't replace my filters. The gentleman was very nice and checked everything out. The second one was for a problem with my garbage disposal. A gentleman came and got it running. The technicians were wonderful. They came when they were supposed to, got things done, and left. They wouldn't accept a tip.

    I received an email from American Home Shield for the seasonal free home air conditioning tune-up. I set up an appointment and Gibson Air Conditioning and Heating came out. The technician did a good job. However, I had a bad experience with the guy that did the appliances. They billed me 125 bucks and the guy came out for five minutes and didn't do anything, accusing us of breaking the machine. I had to call, complain and request for a refund. American Home Shield refunded me and told me it's a one-time deal. The service is a little bit expensive for not using it.

    I had a defective thermostat and a contractor replaced it for me. They were prompt and had good communication. I like them. They also had cleaned my air conditioning unit on my first thing that I did through AHS. I did a plumbing claim, and that was great too. But the electrician that AHS sent for a different claim was a total waste of time, and I would never ever do business with him again. I didn't look up reviews for him and had I done that, I would not have agreed to have him come.

    The other thing is he had to drive really far to get here. They're not familiar with this town at all and he wouldn't listen to anything I said. He acted like he didn't know anything. I had called their office and told them exactly the things that I was concerned about. He came in and reported things that were not factual to American Home Shield and American Home Shield denied the claim. When I told them what they were telling me was not factual, they refunded me the 100 bucks for the guy to come out and left it there. It was unresolved. I gave up and paid an electrician to do the work.

    This is the WORST experience I have ever had with a home warranty company! I have pool issues they have not fixed and they don’t intend to fix. They charged me $125 to diagnose the problem and the company that came to my home to “diagnose” the problem did absolutely nothing but look at my pool equipment and say there is nothing wrong. He said I needed a plumber so they sent a plumber. The plumber came to see the problem and said, "It is a pool issue. You need a pool company." So, they keep telling me throwing the issue around avoiding fixing it. Meanwhile my pool equipment and pool plumbing needs attention.

    I requested they send a different company but they keep sending the same man who came initially to “diagnose” using only his eyes as tool and not even touching the equipment. This company is quick in receiving payment and charging fees but avoids at all cost fixing problems. They have taken my money and not honoring the contract we have with for which I paid the highest premium for.

    American Home Shield offers one check of the heating system before winter and one check of the cooling system before it gets hot. You can schedule that any time you want and you get a reminder email that tells you not to forget to schedule your spring check of your system. As a part of the policy, there's no charge for these checks. I availed of the spring check and the techs came out to make sure everything was functioning properly. And all of that went well. One time, I requested AHS for service by phone and one time, I did it online. Both ways were easy. Their reps were also super friendly, helpful, and explained everything they were looking at.

    AHS is always willing to jump on anything we need and the warranty is worth the money because of all of the coverage that they offer. The monthly rate is very reasonable. When I shopped around, most of the other companies are within a $10 to $20 a month difference and Home Shield's about the middle of the road. If you have ever experienced a major appliance breakdown, then paying that money monthly is worth it, especially if you have an older home versus a brand new one. Another thing I like is that they have a list of providers, but if you prefer one because they've helped you before, you can request that same company to come back.

    To submit claims to American Home Shield, you can call in or do it online. It's easier to do it online to submit the ticket, and they assign a company within a few minutes and they'll call you within 24 hours. I've used AHS three times in the last two years that I've had it. My most recent claim was for HVAC repair. The people who came were a great contractor. They were very courteous, very friendly, and very professional. They showed up on time. They did the work and they were very detailed. I'm very happy. They fixed it that same day. It was so quick.

    I also had a dryer claim. It wasn't drying properly. So, they sent a repair tech out who repaired it. The longest claim I've ever had was on another HVAC, but that was just because the manufacturer didn't have the part. It still only took five days before they came back and replaced it. They were able to track it down somewhere else quicker. That was the middle of the summer in Florida, so it was very good.

    This company is horrible. They will refuse to replace items when needing replacement and find every reason to not live up to their warranty. They will not clean my coils, they had a vendor lie saying there were rats in the units, which there were none.

    AHS is fairly reliable but their monthly fee is extremely expensive. There have been times when a contractor didn't even know that they had to be here. In the beginning, AHS used to close the loop between me and the contractor that was coming out. They could improve on following up with their contractor. There was also another scenario where they wanted me to pay, and I had to take it all the way to the top. When I pay for a service, I need the contractor to come out and to do what they can within the dollar amount that I paid for. If I pay $100 to AHS and the contractor comes out to do something and tells me they need another $60, that can never happen. That has happened twice. The contractor pushed back and it was round and round with the contractor and AHS. Finally, AHS figured out a way to pay to the contractor.

    We called to have our garage electric to be serviced. It took two months before the first person came out; said he couldn't do the work because he didn't know what to do. Two months later (after several calls) another person came out to my house unannounced & said it was our fault we didn't know he was coming. Now to our septic tank. We called & requested that it be pumped. Two different people were sent out, both in pickup trucks, saying they were each told that we requested our tank to be snaked instead of pumped.

    In all instances, I called American Home Shield, told them exactly what I wanted & needed, and the people that were sent out did not and were unable to do the job I requested. It has been extremely difficult to get two seemingly somewhat simple services done, and to date, no work has been done and I've spent MONTHS trying to get them done. I spent hours on the phone today trying to get this taken care of, yet again. All I received from the initial service representative and the initial supervisor I spoke to, was arguments about how I was wrong, didn't know what I was talking about, and how their records show that I have only ever called twice in the last year. I am very unhappy with this company.

    AHS is pretty good, though it's not is as good as it used to be. I had the policy for other residences years ago, and they had better screening of their service providers. They were also much more accommodating in what they covered and more amenable to replacing something rather than continue to put Band-Aids on it. For example, for an air conditioning unit that was clearly beyond repair, they only wanted to repair the unit as opposed to replace it. I'm not satisfied with their options for replacement, so I get a cash-out from them then have to pay the difference on my own. But in the past, they were much more generous with the replacement options.

    I call them when I have a claim and they have an automated system but I opt to speak to a real person. They're pretty responsive and for the most part, the intake people are very nice. As for the techs, I've had a mixed bag of experience from them. A contractor that came out diagnosed the problem immediately, but failed to follow up with parts. Then after repeated phone calls, I had to get American Home Shield to intervene and they couldn't get in touch with him. They also refused to send out a replacement contractor. Finally, the guy surfaced as if nothing had happened and months had passed, so that was a really frustrating experience. Aside from that, AHS is getting very expensive and it's making me consider whether it's worth it to just self-insure or continue with the policy.

    American Home Shield offers free AC maintenance checkup and Austin Heating and Air came out to do it. The technician was thorough and explained everything he was doing. The coverage is good but American Home Shield takes a long time to take care of the customer as far as paying them out if something's not fixable. It's a headache. I'm still dealing with one since August of last year. I have a refrigerator that's not making ice and three contractors have been out to the house 20 times. This last contractor determined that it's not fixable.

    I have one of those tanks over the top for expansion and when my water heater went out and it was replaced, American Home Shield would not pay for the expansion. So I ended up spending $1,000 so I could get my water heater done. Since all that was there in the beginning, I didn't understand why it wasn't all covered in the beginning. They were calling it a modification. I said a modification to me is when you have to do something different than what the process is. I said they didn't have to do anything different because that was something that was already there. That's the only issue I've had where I wasn't satisfied.

    The next request I had was with my AC unit and everything worked great. I had a tune-up done and my thermostat wasn't working right with the AC unit. So the tech had to come back. He explained what was going on. I called my security people for my thermostat and they came out and replaced the thermostat and everything was fine after that.

    I almost didn't renew with American Home Shield because of the previous experience that I had with a Sears technician who came out and didn't fix the refrigerator and ordered a part. I didn't have a refrigerator working for four weeks because of that person. It was a disaster and the technician was rude. It was a very uncomfortable experience. AHS didn't help me. They kept saying the part had to be ordered. By the time it finally arrived, I realized I couldn't go without a refrigerator any longer. So we bought a new one. But when the thermostat went, I renewed with AHS. The technician the second time was very good, thorough, and did a good job. I'm glad that it was fixed. AHS used to be part of the National Association of Women Business Owners, which was why I signed up. But they recently dropped AHS and went with somebody else so there must have been a reason.     I had somebody through American Home Shield come out and do the air conditioner check. I did the request online. The website is very user-friendly. They texted me and sent me a confirmation email that somebody would be in touch within 24 hours, which they were. The techs were very forthcoming with when they were arriving and when they got here. Smart Choice was phenomenal. They were 100% better than the previous contractor, Crispy Air, that AHS used to send out. Overall, I'm happy with AHS. It's a fabulous insurance policy for things that can go wrong and it has a level of protection that everybody needs.

    In the last four years, I did the annual air conditioning check every year. In addition to that, I've had to have my dishwasher fixed where they had to come out three different times. It's a very great experience on my dishwasher three times. They had to replace my microwave. They had to come out twice on my ice maker in my freezer. So, I feel like it more than pays for itself, especially when it comes to my air conditioner and the fact that they cover 100% of the R-22 replacement if needed.

    Joe is our rep. If we have questions, he hands down has been amazing. We had a transaction that was about ready to go south. The buyers of a property wanted the seller to replace the air conditioner. The air conditioner was not broke but they were concerned because of the age. Joe was very helpful in getting the buyers to understand how the home warranty works. Also, it's good being able to talk to somebody directly from American Home Shield.     A contractor came out to service my furnace that was making a weird noise. However, I didn't have any service from them because I have an oil furnace and they don't service oil furnaces. They canceled and put the work order back into the system. A repairman from Paragon came out. He seemed knowledgeable about oil furnaces and told me he had to order a part which took a little while. When the part came, he came out and changed it. But after Paragon came out and touched the furnace, it started shutting off randomly. I'd have to manually reset the furnace. He said that it was something and he fixed that supposedly. But it was still not fixed so they came back out again and said that it was something. He's been out four times to try to fix it and we're finally not having any issues with it now.

    I'm happy with American Home Shield. I like how easy it is to submit work orders through the website. I don't have to call anyone and wait on hold. It can be in the middle of the night when the furnace goes out. Replacing a furnace is $20,000. It's an expensive endeavor. I could pay $100 a month and if my furnace was to go out, someone would come fix it or replace it and that's covered under my home warranty. It covers my air conditioner, roof and electrical stuff. I have an older home and it makes sense to have a home warranty and pay the $75 to have someone come out to fix any of the covered items. For the most part American Home Shield contracts with good service providers that are quick to come out. I haven't ever had to wait more than two weeks for someone to come out. If it was more important, like with the furnace going out, they came out quicker because it was still during the cold months that it started acting up.

    American Home Shield is very quick in replying and finding the proper people to do the job. The last claim we had was a dishwasher that was stuck on the cycle. A technician came out and did the troubleshooting. I had to help him. He was able to figure out there was a new part needed so he ordered it. He came back after a week and installed it. The dishwasher was going to the cycle, but it was not coming to the end like it was supposed to. I called back and put another complaint. He came back and changed the control board. He stayed a little bit longer and did troubleshooting.

    Come to find out in the end, the dishwasher is not doing what it's supposed to do according to manual. It's supposed to chime, and the end lights to stay on for 10 minutes. He said, "I don't know what the problem is. But you just use it for a couple more times and let me know." We checked a couple of times and told him it was still doing the same thing. He came back, worked on it for half an hour and told us it was fixed. The chime is coming on, but end light doesn't come on. But I'm okay with that.

    I had maintenance service done on my AC and other than the tech trying to sell me on a new AC when I don't need one, he did a good job. I do maintenance every year and the last couple of reps did not do the upsell. But the contractors have always done a great job. My AC was completely rebuilt when I bought the house and it took a couple of weeks because the techs were waiting on a compressor. But as soon as they got the parts, they were there the next day. I paid a couple of thousand dollars because it's an old AC and the amount they allow for the refrigerant doesn't cover the old R-130 for it. My experience with American Home Shield has been good. The coverage is great. It covered everything I needed it to cover. The call center is horrible but it's okay.

    I have two rooms where the light was flipping and Comfort Experts came in last month and fixed it. But they told me there was nothing wrong with the electricity. I just have to replace the fixture of the light. I had the LED lights in there but the tech told me that whatever was connected to the electricity burned out. So I had to replace the whole lamp and put a new one in there. He said if I change it and it keeps doing the same thing, to reach out to them again.

    My experience with American Home Shield is good. The techs come out and do what they have to do. They explain to you. Every time I have called them, they fixed the problem. A couple of my friends who are homeowners said that they have to pay out of pocket for a part so I always tell them to check out AHS because I don't pay for any part. I pay my monthly bill and if I want them to come up, I pay $130 and that’s it. I noticed though that my bill this month came a little high and I didn't have anything on top of anything.     My experience with American Home Shield is normally good. It’s just sometimes they give you companies that are small that aren't as professional and thorough at work. I had somebody go out and do my AC tune-up. Paying through AHS, I get it once or twice yearly. They sent a guy and my wife said he looked about 80. He went out to my backyard and looked at the AC for about five minutes and then said everything was fine and never went up to the attic, which for tune-ups, they're supposed to go up there. A couple of days later, my AC was not working at all. I had to go outside of American Home Shield and because it was hot, I called Allbritten Plumbing and AC place and paid about $785 to get it fixed. Another thing is that I pay an extra 25 bucks a month for the electronic protection and I tried to put in a report for a laptop that wasn't working correctly and it was damaged. AHS told me it wasn't covered so, I had to buy a new one.

    We didn't think our HVAC unit was working correctly, so we had somebody come do the yearly check-up through American Home Shield. He said that everything was fine and it continued to have more problems. So, we put in a second claim. The same person came the second time, and my compressor was what was wrong and he replaced it. The only critique that I got from my wife is that he was not in a super big hurry. He had his own speed that he was moving in. He was polite, nice, and he didn't have any reason to think that he wasn't working or doing a good job. He just moved in a different speed than the rest of the world did.

    I was dissatisfied with AHS this last time. They said that it would take 24 to 48 hours. I called in on Monday, and on Thursday, I called back because I still hadn't heard anything, and I was told that this was escalated to some other department and with no real reason. I finally got someone that said, "Well, we didn't have a contractor out." So, I was upset and annoyed. It's not my job as a consumer to make sure that American Home Shield has enough contractors to meet the demand of what they have, but yet I was penalized.

    It was a week and a half before I had somebody out to my house. I had to live in a house without AC and had a $450 electric bill because of it. It was put off that it was my problem that AHS didn't have enough contractors that they could get out here. I get that everybody's looking for people to work, but I pay for a home warranty that I feel like I should be able to call in and get something done, especially when their claim says 24 to 48 hours. I talked to a lady and they refunded a $100 and my $125 service charge. That was nicer, but I was still out 150 bucks extra on my utilities that I had to pay. So, it had cost me about a bit more.

    Everything broke down at one time a year after I got AHS. It started with the refrigerator and it went to my oven and then went to my washer and my dryer. I have to pay $125 before they come out here so I was paying that one after the other. But after all, I think I came out on top and I thank God for AHS. When they tell you they're gonna come, they may not always come but I try to be understanding. One time, I got a little irritated with them, but I still held on and I kept calling till somebody came. Most of the time, they are pretty much on the time that they tell you they're gonna come, though.

    A-US Air Conditioning of Texas came out for an AC check. The tech, Corey, noticed that it seemed like my unit was running a little bit louder than normal. He said it looked like the compressor was about to go out because the voltage was at a 15-point-something when it should be running at a nine-point-something. I did another claim and he ordered the part. He said they would contact me as soon as the part comes in. He came back out a day or two later and switched the compressor. He explained everything to me and showed me the piece he swapped out. I noticed that the AC isn't as loud as it was. I haven't had any issues with AHS except for a dishwasher claim that I called in a few months back. It took a while for the part to get in and it took a little while to get that one scheduled because every time they were trying to do it, I didn't have anyone to get over here.     I had a service contract that lasted over two and a half months. The contractor who American Home Shield used said that they had to order the part and it was gonna be five to seven days. Five to seven days turned out to almost two months and at the two-month window, I was complaining with American Home Shield. They kept calling the people and asking them. They turned around and in five to seven days, that part came in. On the initial order, they claimed that the manufacturer didn't give them any timetable. They assumed that they had to build it. They could have told me that. If I needed to rent a refrigerator, I would rent one. But if they don't tell me anything, I wouldn't know what to do. They need to communicate. It was frustrating and it made me wanna switch companies. I have two houses and American Home Shield is better than the other company but that frustration made me say, "Well, are you?"

    American Home Shield’s service is fine, it's the farming out to different entities, and sometimes you have problems with those entities. I had a washing machine go out and it took several weeks. The way they do their business is they come out and look at it, order the parts, get the parts to the house, and have a technician come back out. My washing machine was two visits, but it couldn't be repaired. There were a few weeks I was without a washing machine, and I have three kids, so that was a problem. But I got a gift card for Lowe's to go buy another one. I got a new $3,000 washing machine for 100 bucks.

    I had two appliances that had issues and was told by the repair guys that if I called in, I could put them both on one claim and wouldn't have to pay for two claims. That's not clear on American Home Shield’s website. I didn't know that if you called it in, you can put multiple claims on one ticket. They only allow you to put in one claim online. I had two appliances that went bad, so instead of paying $100 for two, I paid $200.

For the AC claim to get the units inspected, I got three units and was informed by the guy that I have to put a claim in per unit which I don't agree with.     American Home Shield needs to get better people that they contract with to do the repairs. They like to put band-aids to fix issues, but it's gonna go wrong again in two or three months. If I'm paying all this money and something happens and my compressor goes, then they should replace it. If I pay $100 when they come out, it'd be nice if they fix it right, but they don't. Last year, we had somebody come out four times. American Home Shield is like an insurance company. They take your money but when it's time to pay when, they wanna fight you to pay. Some of the people they do business with are the bottom of the barrel.

    I called up AHS and set up a preventative screening with one of the agents. It was fairly easy. United Air Temp came out and cleaned out the unit because it was full of dust and dirt. Also, they did some extra service that I had to pay out of pocket for. The person that came out was excellent. He walked us through and gave us information prior to just doing it. The coverage has been good to me and AHS does a good job. There was a time that they set up a contractor that we wanted to set us up two weeks in advance. It was not within their policy so they had to reschedule another company and that was good.

    The vendors that American Home Shield uses the majority of the time are substandard contractors. They don't show up on time, they cancel appointments, and they're always trying to make extra money. One time, the vendor was late and never called anyone and then, tried to come back and say that the Freon won't be covered in the policy. They tried to charge me $130 per pound and it needed about 12 pounds worth of Freon. The whole thing was a nightmare and it took me a week on the phone with American Home Shield. A supervisor had to get involved. Another one was a garage opener and the contractor said it wasn't covered under the policy. Again, I had to get a supervisor involved and we got an independent third party out and they verified that it was covered. I'm a landlord and I have several policies. I pay thousands every year for these warranties but doesn't seem to matter with American Home Shield. They don't seem to have any respect for customers.

    Our water heater wasn't giving hot water and we called American Home Shield. The tech came out and he looked like he knew what he was doing, so we were fine. Then, we had the one that installed our water heater and the one that just came out. We were very happy with them, but we're still continuously having problems with the unit. We're not getting the full force of the water and it doesn't heat up so they have to replace the whole heater. We called back and we had to pay $100 out again for them to come back out because they said that 30 days already passed. Also, the company that we went through is telling us that we have to pay them $800 for them to install the replacement and that's what the delay is right now for us.

    I had another claim which was for the air conditioner and the company they sent out, instead of going through the insurance, ended up charging me $7,000. They were suggesting a totally brand new system, and they were telling me that the insurance will only pay for certain repairs. What he was willing to go through the insurance was to replace my coil but the air conditioner needed to be replaced in its totality. What was the sense of going for coils when it was gonna break anyway? It was a way to kind of twist my arm to buy it. American Home Shield needs to pick better contractors that are willing to go through the insurance and help their customers.

    Those are the things that I sometimes don't like about the insurance and we pay a lot of money yearly for this insurance. It has helped us in a lot of ways for our house, but there are certain things like those big purchases and now, the water heater that happened to be defective from the company. That wasn't something that we did wrong. It just came defective and now we have to pay to install it. They're getting very lazy and they're not giving the service they started with in the beginning, so I don't recommend the company anymore. It's disheartening.

They are calling these connections modifications. I have spoken to several ** women from AHS who were incredibly hard to understand and they kept saying the same thing about these lines being modifications. Avoid this company.

    The AC company did a good job. They were on time coming out for the free service and ended up having to do other work. The unit had a freon leak and I had to pay an additional 125 for them to do that particular service. American Home Shield is a very reliable company. You get what you pay for.     American Home Shield sent Smart Lock to change the locks. We were really impressed with that. We thought the tech would be here for a while. He was here in and out and had everything taken care of in like 10 minutes. Also, the customer service reps at AHS have been really good about trying to help us. The only thing is it’s taking so long to order parts for our stove. I talked to a rep yesterday, and she said she still doesn’t have an ETA for when the part is gonna be here. We've been over a month without stove. That's not really their fault because they're trying to get it. They're trying to get us a new motherboard. It's just they don't make the parts for the stove anymore.

    AHS has been keeping in touch with us. I did call yesterday because I was a little bit concerned, but then they called. They even texted me this morning and said the parts have been ordered. Other than that, we had a dishwasher issue that they fixed the best they could. It's not attached properly. My husband tried to attach it, and then he said it's not leveled either. But that is something they said that we have to do through a technician. He did come out and refasten it but the board that it was fastened to got other problems. The rep asked me if we were able to use the dishwasher. We're using it as long as we keep shoving it back in the hole. So, we have to call. They said we have to call a technician for that.

    I had some issues with my air conditioner. It started last year. The first company came several times to try to find leaks. I've also had companies come and do yearly maintenance. The one that was most recently done was good because they also found another leak. The tech went out to the truck, got the stuff, came back and fixed it. The previous company was out there four times trying to fix it. I felt great that the last company was able to find another leak that the other company didn't find.     One claim with American Home Shield was disastrous, and the second one was excellent. I hope that the excellent one would be the benchmark for future calls. The tech did a great job. The plumber before that was unreliable and unprofessional. I put in a complaint on them. There was another long complaint right before mine with the Better Business Bureau, where they worked on the house and left things loose and leaking. It was probably a very good thing that they did not do the work on this. But Fletcher Refrigeration, great job. They came out to service the air conditioner. It gets to be 120 around here. They found a wire going to the thermostat from the roof that was cracked and where the wire was showing. So, he replaced that. He did the same day as he serviced the refrigeration. I was very happy because it's air conditioning time right now.

    We had an AC checkup through American Home Shield. We're going into the next season so we contacted them. The person who came checked everything and then they ran a wet vac to suck out the thing. It was really interesting because the day before he was gonna come out, our flood sensors went off. There was water there, and I was like, “Oh, my gosh! There's a guy coming out tomorrow.” It was actually our fault because the previous guy told us we were supposed to run the wet vac once a month, and we didn't. So, six months went by and it was clogged up. But it happened just in time and everything worked out.

    We renewed AHS and we're glad we did because it helped us have someone come and give us advice on what to do. Having the warranty is really good for when you're buying a house, and it really helps if you don't know what you're doing with the house. It is our first house. They bring people in who can talk to you about their opinions like, “Yeah, this filter is too big" or just like what the guy said that, “You need to wet vac it once a month.” It's really helpful to have someone come out.

    Everyone that has come out has been really good. The only problem we're having is that they give us their business card, and some of these people are traveling quite far. So, it's hard to get them to come back again but if you call Home Shield, they'll send someone out. AHS is very responsive. Sometimes, they were over responsive in the sense that, “Okay. Here's somebody to contact. Are you contacted? Have they contacted you? Are you doing okay?” They were very diligent and not dropping the ball.

    It takes a little while to get things done with American Home Shield but for the most part, I'm satisfied. I have a dishwasher claim right now, and they're replacing it. Sometimes, paperwork doesn't go through like it should, which delays things. Sometimes, that comes through the contractor themselves or the people that are under their warranty service. So, it's not necessarily AHS, it's the people they're working with. But for the most part, it's a good company. The technicians they send out are good. When they have the parts, they put the things together. One time, I had to get my garbage disposal replaced. I love that the guy had the part and he just put it up and knocked it out and I really appreciated that.

    I got an email reminder from American Home Shield and I reached out just to get the tune-up for the house and then they discovered an issue once the techs arrived. When I called, I was given the actual company name as well as the tech's name prior to them arriving. Same Day Air Repair was the best service I've had from an AC tech company going through American Home Shield. They were super knowledgeable, professional, quick with what they did, and they weren't trying to upsell everything since they knew I was going through a warranty service. We had the capacitor issues and the showed us pictures of them testing the electric to show that they weren't correct. They swapped out the issue. Our unit has been fantastic since.     With having American Home Shield, it's nice to know I'm never gonna have to pay more than my copay for the repairs. The claim process is okay. Sometimes the lines are busy, but sometimes, they're not. The latest time I did a claim was for a washing machine repair. They contracted it out to Sears and they did a lovely job.     Family AC Service Solutions came out and they did the maintenance on our air conditioner. They did a good job. They cleaned it out. They vacuumed and they sprayed some stuff in the thing to make it smell. We've also had to have techs come out for our washing machine. They took down the model. We told them what the problem was and they ordered the part. They came back. It was still leaking, so I called them back. They sent somebody out again. He looked, and he said, “It needs a new hose.” They ordered new hoses and it's not leaking now. But I had to pay for that one service call. For the service call, it's a little bit expensive because I also pay a monthly fee for them. I have to pay for the service call on top of that, which, is too much.

    I received an email from American Home Shield that they were offering a check-up on my air conditioning system just to make sure everything was working properly. So, I called American Home Shield to have them do that, which I think is great idea. Everybody should have their air conditioning checked before things go bad. My system is new and Gibson's Air Conditioning & Heating was the company that works with them for the maintenance program.

    I would recommend American Home Shield. Their customer service is very efficient. I had another problem with my refrigerator, and I could not get any communication with the company that they had sent out originally, and I was a little ticked off with them. But every time I called American Home Shield, they tried to rectify it. They have different phone numbers to get ahold of some of these companies than I do. I was a little disappointed in the way that the company communicated with me. It was my icemaker that had gone out, and they said it would be two days and they'd get the part. Two weeks later, I still hadn't heard from them. Their voicemail was full and I couldn't get ahold of them. So, I called American Home Shield and they handled it, which was great. I told them, "Don't ever recommend that company again because I won't use them."

    American Home Shield is a very smart investment and it will give you a certain amount of guarantee that they're going to correct things that are gonna occur over the time that you're on your own. I had spring maintenance done on my air conditioning unit. It was very easy to submit the claim with AHS. I was notified that the contractors were assigned. I was then notified that the technician would arrive at a specific time, and the technician contacted me 30 minutes prior to his arrival to let me know he would be there.     There was a free service with American Home Shield for an AC checkup. When the contractor serviced the unit, they found that something was wrong with the compressor so they had to replace it.     The most recent claim was one that American Home Shield initiated. It was an AC maintenance ticket. They initiated that, to try and keep me as a subscriber. The contractor did their maintenance. They serviced the outside. They ran water on the condenser unit, could tell it hasn't been cleaned in a while, ran his checks on the thing upstairs. The time before that was on the stove. It was a year and a half ago. We were never able to secure the parts for it. And they had to just buy us out. They sent us $1,200 so we could buy a replacement. It wasn't enough money to replace it, so we had to take other measures.

    The burner on the stove had gone out. I put in the request. The contractor that was assigned came out, assessed the situation. It needed a part. The part wasn't available at the time. That was right after the shutdown, 2020. I waited a year and a half to try and get a part. Kept calling. “No. It's not available.” After a year and a half, AHS finally said, “You know what? We weren't able to get the part. These are your options. Click on this link so that we could order a replacement product.” But all of the products on that list weren't available. So, I couldn't go down that route.

    What we had to do was receive a check from them. They gave us 1,200 and change. Everything that we found to replace was $2,000 and above. So, we waited a good while. We kept searching. We were able to find the part that AHS and the contractor never could. I was able to get the part and get it installed for less than the 1,200. That's the stove we have. We just got it fixed. So, it hasn’t been on the list as being eligible for service and/or replacement should there be issues again. That was the only one that it didn't go according to plan.

    The second negative is the price increases. I am not happy about the price increases over the last two years with AHS. When I first started was 2016. We bought the house. It came with a year. When we renewed it in 2017, the yearly rate was $62. The current monthly rate is 102.99. I'm not happy with that, but that's the nature of the price increase. We used AHS early on on the same stove where part of the stove cracked. That one was replaced easily. They serviced our dryer. That was an easy fix.

    I had a recent claim with AHS for my dishwasher. The techs came out and adjusted the float deal thing and replaced the float and reset the heating element. Everything's fine now. I also had a claim for the hot water tank and we had to wait four days before we got another one. They had to wait for the approval. The only thing I didn't like was I didn't get to pick my hot water tank. The company also charged an extra 100 odd dollars for a plastic piece. If they had put the original one back in there, I would not have had to pay that extra money out of pocket.

    I sent in my first claim with American Home Shield for a re-key of the house when we first bought it. The key guy who showed up was very knowledgeable. He was very upfront and honest about some of the things that would cost extra, and I respect that. He said he could still do it, but if I wanted this done, I had to add another 60 bucks. That was fine with me. I have seven locking doors and a lot of French doors on the back side of the house. So, it was no problem. He took care of all that. The key guy didn't reset the keypad one, but he did the lock inside of it, which was a little extra because it was a little tricky.

    The second claim that I filed was for the annual service with the air conditioners. The gentleman that came out for maintenance on the air conditioners spent about two hours and he went through everything with me about how the system was, and that I shouldn't really have to do anything.     I had a very difficult time when American Home Shield denied me a claim when I had to replace an oven because I went ahead and did it after waiting for so long. But other times that I used them, they've been very good. The other thing is with their call center. It’s very, very difficult because every process is, “Oh, we're escalating it. We're escalating it.” Then that'll be another five days and you call back in another five days, and they say, “No. Okay. Now it's gonna get escalated,” and that's another five days. So all the processes end up going on for a very long time. It was very frustrating to deal with them.

    Depending on what repairs are needed, dictates whether I will call American Home Shield because some of their repair people are horrible and some of them are good. I haven't been very happy with any of the plumbers they've sent out. I had a frustrating experience with every plumber they sent me. But the HVAC guy that I use, I got through them and I love him. It's also frustrating that it's hard to get ahold of a person at American Home Shield. They want you to do everything through the website.

    I filed a service request for the AC tune-up. I contacted American Home Shield through the app and I didn't like it. It was not in detail about the service that was rendered. They just indicated to me that they gave me a checklist of what will be done. But when I looked at the service, it said that they were clean or replace the filter. That was not done. So it was misleading. But the contractor was very nice and thorough.

    I've had American Home Shield for a short period of time, and I had 2-10 Warranty. Looking at this plan with American Home Shield, there's always a hidden agenda. You go and pay for a premium plan, but you don't get premium service. So read the fine print. If it doesn't spell it out or it does not state it, you probably won't get it. American Home Shield is okay for certain things, but it doesn't give you everything that you need.

    I submitted a claim when I needed to get some work done on my refrigerator and American Home Shield immediately sent it to a vendor. American Home Shield has a large variety of technicians and it's all local. I've had them anywhere from a married couple deal with my air conditioning to a gentleman with a heavy European accent. They were all professional.

    The only thing that I would change with American Home Shield is that I have to pay an extra 125 bucks a pop just to get somebody to come out and look at something. But when I lived in a different state, there wasn't so much of an upfront cost and whatever I paid on a monthly basis covered everything. Even though the guys did a good job of getting it started, my icemaker is not working. So, I'm gonna have to call back again. But I don't wanna have to pay another 125 bucks to get him to come back out. Also, the receipt that they left me didn't give me any kind of indication and I was out of town for most of the week, so I didn't know it wasn't working till I got back.

    Home Shield sends me something for HVAC, making sure the HVAC is functioning properly. Their contractors are good. I only have one weird experience with my washer and dryer. When I called about the washer and dryer, the guy was rude and he said, “It’s water in it and you have to get the water out.” I told him that I couldn't lift it. So that was not helpful at all.

    I can never get a person on the line from Home Shield whenever I'm having an issue. It is an extreme. Their foreign representatives play dumb, like they don't understand what you're asking for. I don't have that experience when I speak to someone who is in this country. One woman even hung up on me when I had a long wait time and I had to call back and wait for someone else. So it has not been pleasant.

    Home Shield is good if you don't wanna go through the vetting of contractors. No one's gonna be perfect, but they're generally okay with the contractors that they send out. But be prepared to deal with website interaction. The level of service you get when you have to contact someone in person is inconsistent. Also, Home Shield is overpriced because they've cut off some of the stuff that they will pay for. They used to replace your whole HVAC. Now they’ll only give you up to 5,000 etcetera, so it's they're covering less and they haven't changed their price.

    American Home Shield offered a check-up service on the air conditioning system. CamAire had been here in previous years for American Home Shield so I was happy when I saw the same guy. I also had a water heater replaced and those two guys that worked on it were highly qualified. It was just the response time from American Home Shield but other than that, it works and I'm happy. My air conditioning and heating system is over 15 years old. If you price the cost of a new air conditioning and heating system, which is significantly less if you go through American Home Shield, I can pay them for quite a few years before I equal the cost of a new system. When my system finally falls apart, I'll be saving money by having been with American Home Shield.

    American Home Shield sent me a solicitation to service our air conditioning unit for the season. For a $100 fee, they would send service personnel to check out the air conditioner and they listed all the different steps that they would take during the service appointment. Within 24 hours, they sent me an email telling me the name of the company that would be the ones that would be servicing it. Then I got a call from the service provider and they scheduled to come out almost immediately. That was very timely. The price was fair and I got my money's worth. I would certainly be willing to continue working with American Home Shield in the future.

    Absolutely do not recommend this company. They will not fix your appliances. I spent 4 months getting the ridiculous run around from the company about my refrigerator. I spent Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years without a refrigerator and when I finally threw my hands up and went and bought one they told me that it was my fault because I cancelled the appointment on Jan 2. No apology, they will never replace anything. They will replace minor parts and that’s all. And you always have to wait at least 1-2 weeks to get a technician to your home. They literally scammed me out of my money every month.

    I called American Home Shield to request the free tune-up that they offer but in the meantime, the equipment stopped working. So, I called them to ask them for someone to be here to do both things. American Home Shield told me that it was not possible to do the free tune-up and the checking of something that already failed. I said, “Okay. So, just send me one technician because the AC is not working.” The tech was very professional. He was checking everything. He asked me what happened. I explained exactly the same as I did to American Home Shield, and he started checking up and down and outside.

    As far as doing the claim, it was not easy to get through to an actual person and also, it was complicated to try to arrange something. The two persons that took my call to make the arrangements were not that nice to me. I was not desperate but I was trying to make them feel my hurry to get someone here. Both persons said, “No. We are following procedures. And this is the way that it is. And you need to wait and blah, blah, blah. If we can do something, I will let you know.” It was not a really good experience. It's not something that you expect when you call for help. AHS should be a little bit more flexible. So, in some specific cases, when something is not working, they could try to at least make me feel more covered or have more backup.

    We couldn't get the self-cleaning oven to work so a tech from Crispy Air & Heating came out and checked it out. He did something but it still didn't work right and they sent him out again. I called him and he said he didn't have to come out and he never came back. I called AHS and said he has to come back. I called him directly and he said it's a non-warranty part so there was no sense even doing it. That's where I left it. The tech was nice enough but he should have got back to me before. He didn't really do much the first time he was there. Also, when the contractors come out, sometimes they're trying to sell you a little bit on things. But I'm happy with AHS. They have been on top of it and the contractors have always contacted us at a reasonable time.

    We've been paying AHS for four years and yet they barely cover anything. We had to get the compressor replaced for our air conditioner and they only wanted to pay 2,000 and offered a 30-day warranty and we would have to pay the rest. We've paid enough money to where we should not have to come out of our pocket with anything. Also, the contractors that they send out are always trying to sell us something. We've had a contractor come out and look at our air conditioner and told us we needed to replace the whole system. We called another contractor out to take a look and all they needed to do was flip a switch. We called Home Shield and told them the people that they are sending out to us don't work for us. AHS is a waste of our money and I'm thinking about canceling.

    I did my air conditioner service for the summertime and the guy from May's Air Condition was very professional and courteous. He did a great job checking everything out and explaining. But I don't ever wanna use Mike's Heating and Air again. They told me a storm hit the motor on my HVAC and knocked it out. They said that over the phone without even looking at it. So American Home Shield didn't cover it because they said that was the force of nature and they don't cover that. We had a storm that night but they can't tell me it was a force of nature. I said it just burned out and they couldn't tell me otherwise it was. So I said I want a second opinion. So, AHS sent out May's Air Condition and the guy troubleshooted it. He said there was no way in the world you could say this was a force of nature, like the lightning hit it. They just assumed that. So AHS covered it after that. But I shouldn't have had to go through that.

    I have a separate septic system and American Home Shield worked with me to get that replaced. The contractor changed it out within the same day but the pump had to be ordered so I had been for about a week without it. Then it took another week for the pump to come in because it wasn’t in stock. And because we're on a separate well system and septic system, I had to get my septic tank pumped again. And American Home Shield did not pay for that. Since the pump, my washing machine went out and I got that replaced. They gave me a credit for a certain amount, which would have been something similar to what I had, but we wanted something a little more advanced or was a higher quality or better product than what we had so we paid the difference.

    DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. I have been a client with this company for over 3 years. Today was the final straw. Every claim you make, this will do everything in their power to deny your claim. They will attempt to use every loop hole possible. Whatever value you think you may be getting from this company - in the long run, it will cause you wasted time, frustration and money. You will never be able to speak with a true supervisor. Every single rep is outsourced and out of the country.     My recent experience when I submitted a claim with AHS was excellent. It was for my annual air conditioning tune-up service. Hansen Mechanical came out and they were great. They've been to my home three times now. They are my preferred services that they deal with for air conditioning, heating and cooling issues. I've never had any negative experiences with AHS. I had my dryer that had to be replaced one time. They sent a person out and they replaced it with a larger tub. Another time, I've had my refrigerator that the ice maker wasn't making ice properly and they sent a company out.

    American Home Shield sends me an email every few months when it's time for my HVAC or my furnace to be checked before the seasons change over.     American Home Shield offers a promotion to have everything checked for the summer. They make it really easy on their app and I do it every year. The guy from Austin Heating & Air was very professional. He introduced himself, explained the procedure that he was going to do, then he performed them. He explained where my air conditioner is at, then he wrote a report and left. It was really fast.

    American Home Shield works amazingly. One time, I had an issue with my dishwasher and I was able to Facetime a tech with the app and get the things that I needed and go to work the same day.     The service company initially came out just to do the routine service on the AC system, but while doing that inspection, they found that one of the capacitors needed to be replaced. They let me know and we contacted the American Home Shield and set up the work order for it. The techs had everything they needed, and they replaced it that same day. I haven't had any problems since they came. Overall, American Home Shield provides quality customer service and they have good contractors. It's been worth signing up for the coverage.

    I was in the schedule for the annual AC review thru AHS. I have two ACs, so I had to call them back up and schedule a second appointment and they handled it. The techs showed up on time and they were very knowledgeable and informative. With AHS, I'm covered for anything that goes awry and I can call them up. The cost of their service is pretty expensive like everything else. But you get what you pay for. If you have an electrical line, a sewage line, plumbing line, a dishwasher, or a dryer, that goes out, it's good to have the warranty. They repair what went out or they replace it.

    Before the winter and before the summer, for $100, you can get somebody to come out and check your air conditioner thru AHS. They test something with the machine but they don't do anything, not even replace the filter. When the guy that came out, I wasn't impressed. I had to tell the guy about what were on the list of things that he was supposed to do and he said no and that he only had to come and look at it, then he would leave. When I called AHS, I explained what the other people said and they immediately got somebody else who said that they would do more.

    But they didn't really do anything for those check-ups. Then, they hosed the system, which I could do. They wanted somebody to come out and be contracted to do more work. But the price they gave to clean the fan was outrageous. But I can't blame that on American Home Shield. That was on the company that they subcontracted to come out. Since AHS subcontracts people who then come out, it's a shot in the dark.

    Besides that, I got a special of so much off for the first year I was with AHS. So if next year I would have to pay more, I would have to see if it would be worth it. But when I had a problem with the drain wouldn't go down, I put in Drano and it went down. I wasn't going to call AHS and pay $125 for them to do the same thing. But if something happened that was really bad, then I would have to call them. Whoever they subcontract to would either charge me a lot or not. Whatever it is, it's not just going to cost me $125. It'll cost me a whole lot more because it doesn't include whatever they charge the other company because there's a whole list of things that are not included. Also, when I started using their app to put in for what they gave me, I had to call them because it came up with a regular service and it didn't work right. Then I went in again and I did it.

    I've been with AHS for over 30 years and I've never had a problem with them. Recently, I had my washing machine go out. They sent a technician in to look at it, then they ordered a part. When the part came in, he put the part in, but the washing machine still didn't work. So, they replaced the washing machine for me. I upgraded a little and paid a bit out of my pocket. I'm very satisfied with it. But I wasn't really pleased with the tech who came out. He was rude and hard to understand. But that doesn't make me feel any different about American Home Shield and it just may have been me.

    As for the claims process, they expect you to do a lot of things technical. I'm not really technical, but I managed to do it with them. It's not as easy to pick up a phone and a lot of it is they want you to take pictures of the appliance ahead of time and that's not my forte. But they had to deal with that because I don't know how to do it. Other than that, I've recommended American Home Shield to some of my friends.

    American Home Shield offers an AC tune up once a year. The technician who came was very good. However, for quite some time, there are areas that I'm not pleased on. I had my water heater that they didn't take care of that they should have had. They had some company come out saying that it needed all this stuff, but it didn't. It was fraudulent. I had a gas company out here and went to the city for what was required of the water heater. They were saying all these things needed to be done. It was 28 days without any hot water. I ended up going in and doing it on my own ‘cause their company wanted all of this. It was a very frustrating experience from beginning to end.

    I tried to discuss it with American Home Shield. I had all the documentation but unfortunately, there's nobody there that will back you up on any of this. You're talking to people in other countries and they don't understand the permit. It’s unfortunate they don't have anybody there that you could speak to that's up above that could make decisions. I don't think American Home Shield cares. Shame on them for these advertisements that they put out on TV. They send out these contractors that wanna take advantage of customers. There was another situation with some of my faucets. It took five times and two different contractors. You have to fight tooth and nail to get what should be taken care of but it shouldn't have to be that way.

    American Home Shield has been great for the years I've had them. I go online, log in to my account and tell them what's wrong or what appliance is not working. Within 24 hours, someone calls me and sets up an appointment to come repair whatever needs fixing. I got a new washer out of them a few years ago. The company they sent to repair it said it was not repairable. American Home Shield gave me a list and I selected one.

    However, I'm having trouble with a company that they sent out here for my dryer. They said it was a heating element and replaced it. Within the 30-day warranty they give, the dryer was not working again. It gets hot but won't come on, so I have to unplug. They told me I had to have the dryer vent cleaned, and they don't do that. I had to hire an extra person to come out here and clean the dryer vent, which he said wasn't bad. I have to send that invoice to American Home Shield to send to this other contractor. I thought a company that works on a dryer would know how to clean the dryer vent, but apparently not. Other than that, everything's been good.

The difficulty for us is because we're so rural, most of the services we get come from Palm Springs or over by LA County so it takes them two hours to get to where we live but I've never had an issue with American Home Shield for all the services I had like water heater, dishwasher, refrigerator, washer, and dryer.     American Home Shield periodically sends me emails when they got deals for heating and air conditioning maintenance and free tune-ups. The last time that I had anybody do anything with my stuff, it was the email they had put out with the free maintenance and upkeep where a repairman came out and did the annual maintenance on my heating and air. He was very thorough and let me know everything was looking good. There were a few things that I needed to be aware of in the future, but there was nothing major that was pending right then and there. He cleaned the unit itself and replaced the air filter.

    The last time that American Home Shield sent me an email was about my carpet cleaning and they recommended a company. The company came out and did a great job cleaning my carpet.     They've came out on a yearly basis to make sure that our air conditioning was still running good and do free check-ups. The technicians were great. They talked us through it and checked the air filters after they checked the fan system for the air conditioners. They checked everything out to make sure everything was good.     This company has screwed me for the last time! Our water heater wasn’t heating and AHS sent someone out three separate times before finally deciding to replace it. We went about a month without hot water, then had them jack up our out-of-pocket amount to replace it. All kinds of charges to “bring it up to code.” We called a reputable company who confirmed that the charges were bogus. So I complained and we were offered $500 to use the company of our choosing. The heater and labor was over $2,500! They wouldn’t budge off the $500 even though there’s no way we could even get the heater for that, much less the labor. So we canceled this “warranty” and will warn anyone to avoid them like the plague. They took our monthly premiums for 10 years and this is the service we got for it.

    TCA HVAC came out recently for the AC for a preventative maintenance thing. I made a phone call and put a claim in. It was fairly easy. The gentleman who came out was very reliable, friendly and professional. We told him that the Freon levels were good. He cleaned it. However, we run into some issues from time to time with AHS. I had a vendor come out and he was a shady vendor. It was a lot of headaches and a lot of things were left undone when the vendor left. And they took the vendor's word for it.

    He came out to do some electrical work and changed some breakers, some ceiling fans and some heater vents and it was always a hassle for him to come out. I was put out three weekends in a row waiting for this guy to come, and he did only an hour of work. The last day he came, he looked like he had some personal issues going on. He was like, "I just can't do it. I'm not gonna finish it." He left holes in the ceiling and he submitted the claim to American Home Shield saying that he had completed all the work and got paid for it.

    AHS offers an incentive where yearly, you can get your air conditioner serviced. The company that they used called me then we scheduled their visit. When the techs came, they cleaned the unit outside and the unit inside. I also bought filters so they could change them. Whenever we have claims, AHS tries to get out as fast as they can. But it'd be nice to have a 24-hour because the first time I ever used them, I had a leak and it was Christmas. Nobody wanted to come out at the time but a leak is a major problem.

    When I started with AHS, their price was really affordable, but it has gone up significantly. So, it would be nice to have a lower payment. I also get emails from AHS about any special going on for chimney cleaning, HVAC cleaning, etc. I also received one for clearing out the clutter. They send a lot of newsletters, too. They are a good company and it's nice to have a just-in-case where you don't have to pay thousands of dollars right then and there to replace something. You pay monthly and the fee to have the techs come out. If the appliance can't be fixed, they replace it. So, you can't beat that.

    AHS sent me an email that it was time to do the maintenance check on my AC units. So, I did the scheduling on their website and it was very easy. Then the tech came and did the summer check on the units. I have three units and it took him less than five minutes to check them, then come back and tell me that everything was okay. There was not enough time for him to go over the three units within five minutes and he did not have any time to unscrew any screws or check anything from inside. So he just checked up if the fans were working and that was it. Luckily, everything is still going fine.

    Also, during the winter, I called AHS about an AC that was not working. A different company checked it and said that there was something wrong with the engine. Then, it took them forever to bring the missing parts and I was not very happy. I had to call the company and American Home Shield multiple times about it. They were giving me a runaround and whoever that lady from the Heating and Cooling company that was answering the phone was telling me about the pandemic. But she shouldn't have because three years after that, they still couldn't get the pieces that were missing because it wasn't in their store. But there was something with the bureaucracy between Home Shield and that agent, so it took a long time.

    Initially, we had AC Wizard come out for a tune-up. They thought there was an issue with the coil for our upstairs AC units. They told me I had to call and get another appointment. I called American Home Shield after we got back from spring break activities, and they sent out Heritage Air. The repairman checked it and let me know the coil was only at 50% capacity. He said, "We'll probably lose it to AC Wizard because they came out to do the initial look."

    I tried to get it to switch over to Heritage, but American Home Shield wouldn't have it. They sent AC Wizard out and they replaced the coil. Once that happened, we still had issues and didn't know what was going on. We ended up paying another $100 for AC Wizard to come back out. The guy was amazing. He was determined to find out what was going on. Initially, he thought it was a wire that was loose. He crimped that but it still didn't work. He came out the next day and found out our drain line for the upstairs AC unit was completely clogged with debris. He blew air through it and it's been perfect ever since. It took forever to diagnose and finally get the right guy but overall, American Home Shield is worth the value especially when you move into a home and you haven't been there from the get-go. There is a grand unknown of what you're getting into.

    The service for the AC check-up was very timely. The repairman had two things to look at. He had the air handler plus the AC unit. He spent his time, did a thorough job, and even changed my filter. But I had to use OneGuard last year in July and was not happy. I understand that July is a bad time for ACs in the valley but being without my AC for three weeks was ridiculous.

    I started looking around for another company at that point but couldn't find one that was any better with service. They were American Home Shield but were operating under OneGuard still. Nobody knew what the other one was doing. One person would tell me, "It's been ordered. Call me back in a day." I'd call him back and the next person I'd talk to would say, "I don't know what you're talking about because it hasn't been ordered yet." The next day, I'd call and they'd say, "It's been shipped." Then I'd call back, get a different person and they'd say, "No, it hasn't been shipped. We just ordered it." Then when they finally got it, they were gonna come fix the issue with no warning so it was very frustrating. At that point, I would not have recommended any of the people I was doing transactions with to use them.

I tell them what I need for service and the amount of time for the person to come out is usually a couple of days. I like how fast someone comes out. I recently called when the fan in the unit wouldn't shut off. They sent me different contractors at times, and one of them checked up on the unit to see how it was functioning and said that I needed a new part for it to get the fan to stop. But he couldn't do it because he was there for just the checkup, and it needed another authorization to do that. It took a while because they had to order a part.     American Home Shield sent me a deal for my air conditioner to get checked out. A contractor came out and checked it. I had two issues, and they fixed it right away. Every time a contractor has came out, American Home Shield has taken care of everything. It doesn't cover everything, but if I have a leak in my house, I can call them, which I did when I've had two leaks in my house. They took care of sending somebody out to look at it, check where my leak was to get the leak repaired. They sent somebody out to dry out the sheetrock. They ripped up my carpet that got wet. Also, if my air conditioner goes out, they'll come out and replace it. I only have to pay my 100 bucks which is a very minimal cost to me. I don't like having to pay that big lump sum, but it's still under 1,000 bucks for a year. If I hadn't had American Home Shield, I would have spent more than that 1,000 bucks already.

    Occasionally, American Home Shield sends out notifications that you can get an air conditioning-heating system inspection for only $100. I took that offer and the people who they scheduled to do my service found some things wrong and they had to come back and fix them. The tech was a good guy. I liked him. He did both the inspection and the service itself, and I like that, to deal with the same person so you don't have to explain anything to him. It was a good experience. But I was confused about exactly how to use the service once I needed an actual repair done. It was difficult to get everything passed out. I spoke to two people and I had to speak to a third person in order to get someone who understood what I was asking and who took care of me and everything went well. So even though it took me a few times to call, the individual who I spoke with before the service was done was able to understand what I was saying and fixed everything.

    When I requested service for the inspection of my air conditioning and heating system, I had to pay the $100 right away. I didn't know that but that was my fault because I spent so long not reading over how American Home Shields works. I went for a long time not using the service that I paid for. So it was an education, but overall, it's definitely worth the money compared to if you had to do the repairs straight out of your pocket which would probably cost about $600. That's pretty good savings.

    Before I had American Home Shield, I had all my repairs straight out of my pocket, and it was very, very expensive. The comparison of how much it would cost without having American Home Shield makes it worth every penny that you pay. I only pay $65 a month, and everything in my house is covered. I used their phone app and it works fine as long as you understand how the system works. It's straightforward. You go in, you request the service, and they schedule it, and then you pay. That's pretty user-friendly. But every time you use it, they should have a guide explaining how the process works, what you have to do, and what's gonna happen. It’d probably take about four sentences to educate a person enough so they'll know exactly how they're supposed to proceed.

    I submitted a ticket online and then spoke with American Home Shield because of my situation right now. The woman who helped me was very good. I lost my job in December and I called them to get some stuff done and take care of the account and she was just above and beyond what I ever expected the company to do. When I signed up originally, I scoured the internet before I chose American Home Shield. One of the reasons that I chose American Home Shield for the platinum package was because of the price. But after being a customer for two years, my rates went up from 74.99 to 94.99 and I only used them once in 2022 and 2023. So I couldn't understand why my premium went up when I hadn't even used the service.

    American Home Shield needs to make it a little bit more clear that after a certain period of time, the rates will go up. My contract is set to renew June 10th and the young lady that I spoke with and voiced my concern about the pricing told me that when I renew, it would go back down to the 74.99. But I'm not sure why the price went back to the original.

    When CC & Sons came out, they did an amazing job. They talked with me every step of the way, letting me know what was going on. I would recommend them highly to anybody. The only issue I had was with Plumb Right Service Plumbing. My sump pump was new when I bought the house. The plumbers ended up having to replace my sump pump, but they put a smaller sump pump in. It did not work and almost flooded my basement. I called and called and called over the weekend. They didn't offer any 24-hour service.

    I sent emails and even contacted American Home Shield. Then they finally got somebody back out that following Monday. They came in, did some work, and said everything was fine. But something was wrong inside the hole where the sump pump is and when they came in that second time, they left without really discussing or going over anything else with me. It was a little upsetting. They were kind and business-like. But they lacked in communicating exactly what happened and what was wrong. Then we had rain that weekend and I was scared to death my basement was gonna flood because of the sump pump. Nobody contacted me back over the weekend. I had to wait till Monday morning to get somebody here.

    The tech came out for a wellness check on the air conditioner and to get it ready for the summer use. We called American Home Shield to get it done and they also notified me earlier about it. The tech was some young lady and she said everything was good. AHS is a handy service sometimes. The only bad thing we have is, we're in a place in Florida and everything's got to come out of Fort Myers, Florida instead of around that area. Those people are three hours away. They need more local talent around here instead of coming so far away.

    I've made a claim to American Home Shield on a couple of maintenance issues. We had some plumbing issues with the toilets as well as the shower drain. Somebody came out and took care of that. Once the job was started, they completed it within a few hours. American Home Shield is a really good program. It's saved me a lot in repair costs. The only thing that I would have a suggestion for is that, rather than paying monthly, I'd like to pay an annual plan and get a discount on that. So, that way, I'm not having it affect my monthly budget. I'm looking through the updated contract that they sent me that is supposed to be effective on the renewal on June the 5th. One of the things that I was looking at is that they do ductwork. I would love to see something like that covered because it's really costing me an energy efficiency.

    Advanced Home doesn't know how to use their equipment. When I had real plumbers come in, we found out what was really going on. The guy that American Home Shield had a contract with said that AHS wouldn't cover my situation with my plumbing because I didn't have an outside catch, which I do now because I had to pay for all of that. The guy from Advanced Home couldn't even do anything. He charged me $700 to pull a toilet and then didn't do anything. He didn't even know how to find his camera with the reader. He gave me a location that was the exact opposite of where the sewer line was. He did not know what he was doing. I had to get plumbing to come out, and they knew where the stuff was and found everything. We found the plumbing issue, which I had to pay 7,000 out of pocket to fix. AHS needs to vet their contractors a little bit better.

    I've only been with American Home Shield for a year up to this point, and I recently had to upgrade to their full service because they seem to loophole out if you don't have their highest service on things. With the plumbing issue, I had to go up there to try to get things resolved. Now I have their highest level, so I'm gonna see because I have to call them. I have a leak and the roofing company came out and said there's a crack that developed in the roof because the property shifted. So, they need it fixed that crack. American Home Shield's app and website aren't really user-friendly. They don't provide numbers to call to customer service. They want you to do everything through their app and you can't always pinpoint a situation or a resolution because of that. They have a range of needs instead of something specific. It doesn't give an option to put in what specifically needs to be done.

    The contractor came out and did a preventative maintenance on the air conditioner. I like that it's every two years. I do the heating one year and the air conditioning the next year, and I keep doing that. So, it's every other year. I do it when I get American Home Shield's promotional emails like, "It's time you can do the free system checks."

    American Home Shield wouldn't go to the vendor that Jet Mobile wanted them to go to. Finally, we convinced them. AHS couldn't get the part. It was a coil for my air conditioner and they were very obstinate about it. Companies have parts for their different things, and they sell them to a second market who sells those parts. They are original manufacturing parts, but they don't handle them anymore because the air conditioner itself is eight years old. I don't know how AHS convinced Rheem after my phone calls to them and my phone calls to Jet. He said, “We're trying to work with them, but they're being very obstinate about having to go through Rheem to get the part, and it's just not available.

    Finally, we convinced them that the part was available and in stock at the second market company.” They went to them to get the part, and we got the thing repaired. Also, AHS refunded me the $125 deductible because of the problems I had. They stepped forward when they needed to. AHS uses people that aren't good. That's one of the major problems I have with them. But this Jet Mobile was a good person. The person I had before them was supposedly Quality Air Conditioning. They were bad. The guy didn't have anything to know what he was doing. And I don't know if he had any experience working on air conditioning, but they weren't quality. I was able to get Jet Mobile, but AHS had to go through their means, but they let Jet Mobile order the part. Once Jet Mobile was able to order the part, the thing was repaired. But I was a good eight weeks without air conditioning. That was horrible.

    AHS seemed to be more expensive, but they all had the same problem of using 1-star companies. You go to a regular vendor, and they're not members of AHS. That means some guy that is looking for work who has a license. But the one I dealt with had no idea what he was doing. He broke my dishwasher. Luckily, AHS came through and replaced the dishwasher. They gave me a $750 allowance, and I bought a new one. The contractor who installed it sent out a guy again to install it. AHS would fix anything. They don't care what you've done. It's in their contract. If they started using 5-star vendors, they would be a good company. Even though it costs more, I'm willing to pay more if somebody is more experienced.

    I submitted a claim to American Home Shield for a repair, and they got back with me quickly and was able to get me a service call and have a technician come out and do the repair I needed. The tech was a really good local-based person. The dishwasher wasn't running. Something was jammed in the motor. He was able to remove that thing that was jamming the motor. I just wish that AHS would have an app. You got to call in and go through that setup. You could do it through the website, but an app would be easier.
