I had a bad experience in recent months with American Home Shield. They didn't get the issue resolved. It was a 2 year-old hot water tank that blew up and they assigned it to a company that never came out. They simply had me send pictures. When I sent the pictures, they claimed that there was a problem with the water heater that was not covered under my policy. I had them send out another company and these other people said that I needed a new hot water heater but did not add on all of the extra things that the other company was trying to add on. American Home Shield said they had to go with the first people since the second company said that it needed to be replaced as well as the first company. I didn't wanna deal with those people because they were padding the bill. I went online and found a couple of other remarks about them that they had done the same thing.
I had no hot water for over a month and was tired of fighting with American Home Shield. They were nasty when I tried to explain why I didn't wanna use the first company so I went ahead and paid for it. They issued me a refund for it, but it was not nearly what it costs. They gave me 300-something dollars but the cost came to over $1,000. I was with American Home Shield for many years in Maryland. I've since then moved to Florida and I'm still a member. But I didn't appreciate the way that they treated me in that situation. They were good until up to that. I've referred other people to them. In fact, my son had just bought a house and I referred him as well. But I'm now thinking about leaving.
I understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to contact us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can talk more about your experience.

We've had nothing but positive experiences with American Home Shield. They had the best price with the lowest trip charge. When the pump wasn't working, the contractor did everything perfectly. They did everything they said they would do. So far, all the contractors have been very knowledgeable and reliable. I never had anybody have to come back.

We've had a good experience with American Home Shield. I usually call them up and ask then they hook me up with a local person and get the appointment scheduled within a week or less. I had to replace a hot water heater and they took care of that. It was a company that had been used before.

Having AHS is good peace of mind. There was one piece of the faucet that had to be ordered for my recent claim. The techs had to come back out, but as soon as they got it, they came out right away. They also fixed the drippy faucet, the clogged sink, and replaced the guts of my toilet that was running.

The tech was very friendly and knowledgeable. He had to order some parts and then he came back a week later and finished the repair. We're satisfied with American Home Shield’s services. It's simple to go online and request a repair and check on what the problem is. If not, you can always call and somebody will call you back right away and you get the answers you need. The people who came out and did the repairs were friendly, professional and polite. They talked us through the repairs that they had to make. My husband walked around with them and went to wherever they did the repair. Everything after that works fine. So we're very happy.

The first person who came out did a breaker change but that didn't fix the problem. The second person who came out fixed it. So, Jets Electrical is okay with me. They did a good job. It's my latest problem with American Home Shield that's driving me crazy. They have been good as far as you call them. They set up an appointment and someone comes out. Two service people have come out. The call was on April 8th and it took five days for a technician to come out and then two weeks to wait for the part. AHS sent out a second service person and he said he couldn't get the dishwasher to work. They said that the part was obsolete according to American Home Shield. They've ordered the part. And now I'm waiting another week to get the part for them to put in.
This has been my first, real big problem with American Home Shield and it's not going well because they're giving me the runaround. They're pushing me off. It's going on for almost two months now. This is making me not wanna re-up with AHS. It's just been one after the other of people who say they’re sorry this is happening but don't help. Most of the time, you need things fixed, not replaced. But now, when something looks like where it might be replaced, you'll get the runaround.

American Home Shield did not relay the information that I had relayed to the contractor so the plumber came out unprepared. Even though I paid for my service fee, he told me there was nothing he could do because it was an intermittent problem. We duplicated the problem and it happened again. But he said it wasn't happening frequently so he didn't know what was causing it. I called the manufacturer of the product in my house and they told me what it was.
I only used American Home Shield twice, once for my garage door and the plumber, and my problem was not fixed both times. When the tech came out for the garage door, he replaced the spring in the door but I called him back and asked why it was making such a loud noise. My garage doors never sounded that loud before. He told me to give it a couple of weeks and it would get better. I called back in a couple of weeks but he didn't return my call. I called American Home Shield and the rep told me they were gonna contact the company. The AHS rep had also told me they were gonna contact the plumbing company and no one ever got back to me. So I just cancelled because I paid for a service I didn't get.

The stove was taking an hour to preheat to 400 degrees. We knew that we're coming to the end of our year with AHS and we've since re-upped at the time, so we called them. We filed a claim over the phone and the process was easy. The tech came out, pulled the circuit board out, went and got a new one, then came back about a week later and installed it. I was comfortable with him coming over and my experience with that stove claim was great.
But my experience with the house and with the roof claim that we had, not so much. They identified the contractor, then I called the contractor and scheduled a time. When the person came out, he identified the issue and the service was great. But the policy provided a $1,000 max and I'd have to pay for everything else. When the lady called to tell me about it, she cited sections out of the policy. But I wanted a written estimate to see the cost for each work that the contractor had to do. She told me that the contractor had been sent to me but I don't have a number for them. I am still tracking that down and apparently, it's incumbent on me to find out based on the name. But I would expect that Home Shield would provide that written estimate instead of letting me track down the contractor.

The gentleman who came out for my plumbing was very professional. He took care of my issue, cleaned up after himself and was very informative and patient. He broke everything down and showed me what he needed to do before he did it. And he showed me the end result when he finished. I was very satisfied. I will recommend American Home Shield because I haven't had any bad experiences over the years of having that coverage. I like that I don't have to go on a hunt if something breaks trying to find a legitimate company and I don't have to go through a whole lot of back and forth. I could call AHS, put my claim in, and somebody responds quickly for the most part to get the situation handled.

The contractor who came for the icemaker that was freezing up had everything we needed and explained it all to me. So far, so good. I've also had to have a washer and a dishwasher replaced and an ice box worked on. However, I don't like how long it takes to get a repairman out sometimes. When I had the air conditioning problem, it was summertime and it took a long time to get them done. American Home Shield doesn't have enough contractors that work for them out in this area in New Mexico. Most of the air conditioning people around here won't use the a home warranty company as they got plenty of work without it.

We've had a lot of different engagements with American Home Shield throughout the year. They are responsive but don't cover a lot. We're not going to re-up. The first thing was our septic, and other than removing the septic material, they didn't fix the repairs that were needed. But that's in the contract. We paid 650 and $125 each time they came out. American Home Shield sent somebody out about seven times for different things. There's no incentive to find the main issue. I was ultimately satisfied that we gave them over $1,000, and they made one repair. We would have preferred a replacement but they did their job. The air conditioning doesn't have a gap in it anymore but it took four air conditioner guys to figure that out. They weren't that interested in helping us find the problem.
Each time they came, no one went under the crawl space until a separate guy who was not related to American Home Shield came out. He cleaned the vents. He took his cellphone and took a picture of this huge 23-inch gap in our metal duct. I would have expected the air con guys that American Home Shield sent out to figure that out. But once we told them that was the issue, they sent a guy out and repaired it. The person that repaired it said even though it was repaired, to check what caused the coolant to leak and create a huge gap, and if the original issue was still there, it would potentially happen again. We had to wait till the temperature rose until over 70 degrees to run the air conditioning. That was when Precision came out and to make sure that it was no longer leaking. The guy flushed something and told me it looked good and that the repair was solid. It took all 15 minutes for the Precision guy to do that.

Crispy Air & Heating had come out a year ago when I was looking for someone to check the AC system because there appeared to be a leak coming from somewhere. The following year, the problem occurred again but for a different reason. It wasn't generating cool air. When they came out, they explained the problem to me. In both instances, they got the system up and running and I'm happy with the services. I even signed a maintenance contract where they come by once a year to check the system. I wanna stay with them permanently.
American Home Shield is the home warranty you need on all your appliances. If something goes wrong, they provide a technical person. They make me feel secure that if something breaks down, I'm still gonna be able to find help as soon as possible. For the quality of service, the price is right. It was a simple process online. There were very clear instructions on what I had to do and they let me know about the $100 fee that they would collect. When I needed to call again, the process was simple as well.

The website you go into to file a claim and see what the problem is, is goofy. But I love the coverage. I paid my deductible. They took care of it. AHS gave me a peace of mind. I talk to a lot of people about it. I said I only pay $80 a month for platinum. And I said, "Dude, you can't beat it." A guy just had something happen and that's how we got on the conversation. My last claim was for my fridge. For the most part, American Home Shield fixed it. I had an issue because it seemed as if the person who came to diagnose my fridge and who came to fix the fridge was not the same person. And whenever AHS farmed it out, they normally did it out with the same people. For example, it went to A&E, which is like Sears Repair. The person that came to diagnose it said that he ordered the parts. When the parts came, they would come back and fix it. When I asked them to come fix something on the fridge sometime last year, that was what happened as well.
When I got the appointment for the person to come back and install the new ice maker, I was given a window in the afternoon and, all of a sudden, I saw somebody show up at my door much earlier than that. I though, "Okay. I'm not expecting you at this time, but okay. No problem." But it was a different person. He came with an A&E van, so I knew that he came from A&E. While he fixed, he told my son that there was something that he needed to clean out in the back, maybe some type of filter, and we had to pay $80 for that.
I was, "I already paid American Home Shield, that everything is supposed to be covered." He said, "No, it doesn't cover cleaning." I said, "That's very odd because this is not a cleaning that I can do." So, I asked, "Is this something that I'm gonna be billed by American Home Shield?" He said, no, I would pay him directly. I said, "Okay. What form of payment?" He said cash or a check. I did it as a check because just in case. Because again, this didn't sit well. This is the first time using AHS that I would have a contractor ask me for a payment like that.
I made the payment for $80 and, instead of it being to AHS or to A&E, it was to a different vendor. So, I said that I would follow up with AHS, but I didn't until I needed to put another claim in. I asked, "Is this normal?" At first, the person I spoke to said, "They're not supposed to clean your appliance." I said, "No, no, no. This is not cleaning like the inside of my fridge was dirty. This was on the outside where he had to remove a plate on the outside and get into the inner bowels of the fridge." The person that I spoke to at AHS said, "No, they were not supposed to have charged you extra for that." They said that they would gonna put in an investigation as to find out what happened. After I got off the phone with American Home Shield, I looked at my security camera. That was when I saw that the person did come from A&E Sears Repair.
The appliance works okay. One of the things was the door, every now and then, still wouldn't close properly. That was why I called back two weeks ago for someone to come out. Other than that, the ice maker works well, which was the primary complaint. The only thing that didn't sit well with me was this person that I'm not thoroughly convinced was supposed to be the person to come. Because right before he left, he said, "Just in case A&E calls you and tells you that they're sending someone over, just tell them it's okay, it's been fixed already." That sounded very off to me.

My claims experience for the shower started off rocky but ended up good. One of the service providers did some work that made the issue worse on my showerhead. The tech left the water in a hot status somehow so, my handles were hot to touch. My father-in-law was able to turn off whatever he turned on on the inside of the showerhead and it was a little bit of a struggle trying to get someone to fix the issue that the original contractor caused. AHS's escalation process is a little bit lengthy and I had to call a few times. I couldn't speak to the people that handle escalation so, they had to send a message to go out for them to get back to me. But they refunded me my service fee as well as sent someone else out to fix it. Also, my past experiences with AHS weren't rocky like this one.

Sometimes the way the provider would come and write up the ticket would determine whether I have coverage or not. I've always assumed that the contractors that contract with American Home Shield maybe aren't the best in their field. So, they do this to generate income. And I've always assumed that they get a fixed rate from AHS. That's why they're always eager to say, "We can fix it today for X 'cause you don't have coverage."
The good of it is I pay my $100 monthly statement and pay my $100 co-pay, and most of the time, it's straightforward. They complete the repair for me and I go about my business. When things start to get more pricey, I get more and more varying opinions to determine coverage. There have been many good times when contractors came out. Like the call for the microwave and they came out and said, "Yes, it's broken, you're covered. We'll order the part, call you back when it comes in." They did, came right out, and fixed it.
I pay extra for my pool pipes. The reason I have the home warranty is because the home is old. With wear and tear, the pool pipes sprung a small leak. AHS tried to say it was caused by chemical damage. I was, "They're pool pipes. So, it's chlorine water. That's the chemical, I guess." That wasn't fair. But they couldn't wait to write up an estimate, $5,400 if I'd like him to take care of it right away. That's the bad thing about the warranty.

The pilot in my water heater wouldn't light and I couldn't get it to light and when I tried, the console gave me an error code. I submitted a claim using an online form and it was pretty easy. It was surprisingly straightforward and they got back to me within a matter of hours. Dockside Plumbing came out and they were very friendly and professional. They diagnosed the problem quickly and they then proceeded to tell me there was nothing they could do about it. They did not have the parts in stock and it was in the morning heading into the weekend. The best I could do was call around the various warehouses and try to obtain the parts. I called various suppliers and the closest part was in a warehouse in Los Angeles and I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. The quickest they could do was their overnight shipping but heading into a weekend, the overnight shipping would have gotten here on Tuesday morning.

The fan wasn't working on my refrigerator and it was not cooling on either side. I called AHS and it wasn't expeditious to make a phone call. Then, the contractors they assigned have been to my house the first time I ever made a claim and they were not professional at all. Parts did not get ordered. This time, I had to call multiple times to get someone out and they changed the contractor who was coming out to fix it from Amtec even if I specifically asked that AHS never send them back out to my home because of the initial unprofessionalism that I experienced. However, they were sent back out this last time that I called.
The same issue keeps happening and I'm quite perturbed by it because I was told by Amtec that if the parts can be ordered and the refrigerator can be fixed multiple times for the same reason, American Home Shield won't give me a new refrigerator. When I talked to American Home Shield, they told me that Amtec would have to say that the refrigerator is not repairable and order a new one. This back and forth and the techs not saying that I need a new refrigerator is only causing me to have to pay every time they come back to fix the same issue. That's generating money for them but this insurance coverage is not benefiting me. I also noticed last month that my insurance payment went up again. Even my service fee has gone up from when I initially signed the contract. At this point, I'm very dissatisfied. Once again, water is coming from underneath my refrigerator, so it's freezing up. The first time that I called American Home Shield, it was doing that as well.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'd like to apologize for not meeting your expectations. Please know that our team will be using your feedback to prevent this from happening again in the future.

When my washer was not spinning, I submitted a request online and American Home Shield scheduled the service almost immediately. They identified who the contractor would be, and it was Sears. When they came out, it was great. I showed them what the washer was not doing and they took it apart and did whatever they had to do. It's working fine now. With American Home Shield, I don't have to think about who to call to come and repair things, and I'd tell people to purchase the service because they're very good.

We needed to get a new dishwasher because ours quit working. The first tech that AHS sent out told me they couldn't install my new dishwasher because my valve looked too old. So, I had to pay for a plumber and I had to get it done within less than a week. It cost a couple hundred bucks for the plumber to come and replace the pipe. AHS then sent a second contractor and they kept telling me that they couldn't install my new dishwasher because they couldn't get the old one out unless the legs were cut off. They were idiots. The new one was of the same dimensions and height as the old one. So, I asked how they were going to install the new one. They said they could just shorten and screw it. Also, they couldn't wait for my husband to come home to get the old dishwasher out and cut its legs off. So, that was another week by the time I got somebody to come back out here. But in the meantime, my husband came home and within five minutes, he got them to screw and shorten. So, he didn't have to cut anything off.
When I called again for them to come out, the day that they told me that they would come out was not the day that they showed up. I had to call and find out that they wanted to come on another day. I told them that I couldn't keep missing work and they said that they would see if they could make an exception and do it on one of those days when my work was more flexible. So, I had to wait. Then finally I got an exception for somebody to come and to get it done. By the time it all got done, it was after Easter where I had 25 people at my house, which would have been great to have a dishwasher during that time. So, that was a lot of fun.
Otherwise, I haven't had any other problems with AHS. The technicians have always been fine. The guy that came to install it at the very end happened to be the same guy that came and told me that there was something wrong with my dishwasher. He was the one who put in the order saying the motherboard was fried, and told me not to use it. He said to leave the breaker off because it was fried and I didn't want my house to catch on fire. So, he knew what he was doing. It was just everybody in between that made things extremely difficult.
And then I was told to call GE. But when I called the number they gave me for somebody to come and say what had been done so they could come back out, they had no idea who I was. So, I had to go back to the warranty company. And when I called AHS and got through to somebody, they said they couldn't even access anything because they were having problems with the website. That was on a Friday and they said I had to to call on Monday. Despite all of that, I've got a dishwasher and it works great.

American Home Shield charged me for the service and the people that they sent out did not do their job. When they came out, they never touched and looked at what they were supposed to do. They refused to service the property. They said they didn't have the proper clean-out area for them and they have to call someone else, but they never did. They never fixed the issue, and they left me hanging. I got my own plumber out to get it resolved. I also called American Home Shield and complained. It took a long time, and I had to go through different channels. I went through the Better Business too.
American Home Shield is recommended when you have a home to have some sort of coverage. I've had it for at least six months, and it's better to have it than not to have it. However, the customer service is horrible and the way they handle stuff can be horrible, but people don't have too many options nowadays. They're stuck.

I've been with American Home Shield for about 10 years, so I know them inside and out. Sometimes I get a good contractor, but sometimes I don't. A lot of times the contractors will come out and they'll purposefully diagnose something that they know is not covered. They'll say, "Well, this is not covered," and then they want me to pay a bunch of money. When my garage door wasn't opening or closing, the garage door company said that my garage opener needed to be replaced. They wanted to charge me $1,200 to replace it, which was too much. I showed the guy online where I could get a garage door opener for $500. I didn't like him. He was trying to rip me off, so I just told him to leave.
I would tell people they can work with American Home Shield, but they gotta deal with them mostly online. I try to submit claims online because I can't get anybody to answer the phone at American Home Shield. I'd be on hold for an hour messing around with them. Plus, a lot of these companies have their call centers in other countries and it makes it very difficult to explain to the person what the problem is. I can hear chickens in the background too.

My experience has been fair. What I find about American Home Shield is that sometimes their vendors aren't the best. Recently though, my experience was a good one, and that had to do with the company that provided the service. Budget HVAC provided the servicing on my boiler system and they did what they were supposed to do in a timely fashion. The technicians were respectful and friendly.

I've got the top coverage with American Home Shield, and it's great. I've always made phone calls for my service requests, and I am gonna have to call them about my oven and microwave. Recently, I did a request for my air conditioning unit, and it went great. We had to have a guy come back from the same vendor that American Home Shield requested three times and the last time. So I paid $100 twice, then the third time American Home Shield waived it because it was a recall. The tech was awesome. He was timely, communicative and very personable. He described everything extremely thoroughly with what was going on with the unit, and he was happy to show us exactly the diagnosis and what he was doing. He was a very professional, knowledgeable contractor.
My only concern is American Home Shield's customer service is very black and white, and after Covid, they started collecting the $100 before they'd even schedule anybody. Before that, they would have the vendor come to me first, then I would pay for the services. I understand the $100 upfront fee. People have to have some level of commitment. However, being a longer-term customer, it seems odd that I would have to pay them the $100 before somebody comes to my house.

I had a plumbing issue in my home, and scheduling the appointment was smooth and easy to do. It was online, and I could easily get to the website. The website works, but the way to put in my claim was challenging because American Home Shield expects me to know what the issue is. There were some sections that were difficult for me to explain exactly what the challenge was and I felt like I had to diagnose the challenge. I'm not an expert in plumbing.
I did not enjoy my experience with the contractor as well. The person was supposed to come around 12:00 and he came earlier, but I don't feel like he did a thorough investigation into what the issue was. He wrongly diagnosed what the challenge was and was trying to move swiftly through his appointment. However, I did not reach out to American Home Shield. I wasn't certain that discussing it with them was gonna resolve it based on my interaction with the contractor. Overall, I'm still gonna continue to be a customer, but I'm a little disappointed that American Home Shield consistently tries to find ways not to pay for things and it's also a very short list of things that they will cover.

American Home Shield has been good. I had leaky pipes, and they fixed that. After that work was done, later, I saw some more drips because there was water damage. American Home Shield will attach in the request if I know there might be more than one leak, but if I don't know, it's another fee to get some secondary work done. That's only thing I don't like. We found a couple of other small leaks, so I had to call American Home Shield back and we had to pay the extra fee for calling them back. Besides that, they did great once they were there, and the pipes have been fine since they repaired it.

We had changed the batteries in the thermostat 10 times and still, nothing happened. JTech Mechanical came out and figured out that it was the thermostat. They replaced it instantly and we were good to go. American Home Shield is worth it. I advised some clients I had in my previous job that since they had an older house and they had some issues going on, it would be a good thing for them to get. The app is very easy to use. The electrician said that I should have the electricity box redone because the wiring is bad, but American Home Shield said no. He fixed he one that goes behind the washer but it didn't help the other two plugs so they had to send in another guy. With AHS, I don't have to try to find the people who come out to do the specific labor type of job. I just make the claim and they contact the right contractors for the job. I had a claim for a breaker in the electrical panel and the tech came out fairly quickly. I also have a claim right now for a refrigerator that's broken. This is the second time that I've had a claim on my refrigerator and both times, when the techs come out, they have to order parts, then it's several weeks before it gets repaired. The first time, we were without a refrigerator for several months before the contractor was able to get that repaired. With the refrigerator now, it's been several weeks and I'm not confident that they will be here on Monday to replace those parts. But that's not a knock on American Home Shield. Just wanted us to pay the cost or to contact their contractors. They tried charging us $900 for a power surge and when we paid for a second opinion they admitted they were wrong and had to cover the charges. This has happened 3 times total and now the 4th time dealing with the exact same problem they are trying to charge another $1600 for the same original problem. Their whole company is full of people who can't speak clear English and don't understand English. I rather be robbed than give this company another dollar. On April 15th 2024 a technician sent by American Home Shield came to see our broken washing machine and said that he had put in an order for a water pump. The technician sent us a picture of the order before he left on the 15th. He said that the part should be delivered in about 10 days. At about day 11 of waiting we called AHS and they said that they got in touch with Sears and that the piece was ordered.
On May 3rd, 15 days after the technician made the order we requested to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor said that if the part had not arrived 20 days after the part was ordered a process to replace the washing machine would start. We waited 5 more days and the part did not arrive. Again we called AHS requesting for the process to replace the washing machine to start. They said the next step would be to get a diagnosis from Sears. The day after we received a text message saying that the part had been ordered!!!
Now over 25 days later, having to go to the laundry, spending time in traffic since it is not close to home, and spending money repeatedly because American Home Shield has not been able to deliver. We called back again to let them know that it is not fair that they made us wait for so long, having to go to the laundry because of their ineffectiveness in getting us the part, and their incompetence in dealing with Sears (who is another failure).
We told them that what we now expect from them is to do good on their word, and start the process to replace the washing machine. They said that Sears had now made an order for the part on the 18th of May, and that "THE PROCESS WOULD NEED TO START AGAIN." It is now the 23rd of May and we are still waiting for the part. We have been loyal customers and we have always paid monthly on time. This is truly an example on how to not treat your customers. AHS has failed to follow their own guidelines, making us wait even more, having us drive to the dry cleaners and spend more money because of their irresponsibility.

Sometimes I feel because we're going through a warranty place, that we're low priority to get service. But it's worth it to have a homeowners’ coverage. Shop around until you find something you're comfortable with. The people called me to schedule to come out. I was able to fix it. And I called to cancel the same. It was within 20 minutes after I made the call. And American Home Shield said they would take care of it and cancel the call. But AHS still charged me for the visit, saying that the contractor came out and fixed it. I spoke with them. They said, “I can appreciate you saying they didn't come out and visit, but I have to talk to them.” And it was a Friday before the weekend. It took them five days to get ahold of them to say, “We didn't come out there.” And they refunded me. It was a little pain. But they fixed it in the end.
I don't like that we pay so much per month and per visit, and depending on the event or the thing that breaks down where we could pay more, like if it's the AC unit. The contractors are hit or miss. Some of them are good, while some of them just do the bare minimum to put a ticket in. I would like more consistency and quality of person. We use AHS often. Some of them come out, and it's great. They would fix it within 30 minutes. One time, our dryer heating coil broke. They came out. It took them four days to come out. They looked at it. They said, “I can't do this now. I have to order parts.” So, they ordered parts. Took another week. So, it was a week and a half that I couldn't wash clothes. When you have a teenaged daughter, that’s tough. Knowing that you are going to be working on what type of appliance I have, have the basic stuff on-hand might help to prevent delayed being fixed.

I dislike the amount of coverage that American Home Shield provides. I'm looking for another provider because, over the years, it seemed like the rate and the premium increased, and the services decreased. I don't utilize the service too often but when I do, there are always limitations on what they will cover, under what's covered, and then certain things that aren't covered other organizations do cover.
There was a leak and the techs couldn't really trace where it was from but deemed it as cosmetic after I had already had some other work done like the caulking. They denied the service as a result of saying that it was cosmetic or according to normal wear and tear maintenance. So, I was a little disappointed in that. I have been dealing with them for other issues for years and it seems like the services are decreasing and my rate has gone up over the last several years as well.
The latest guy that came out was good. He had dealt with the issue with my sink before and I was glad that they did bring that company back out because they do quality work. I have had nightmares in the past. It was never resolved when my sump pump had died and caused damage to my basement. American Home Shield didn't reply quick enough. So, I had to get a contractor on my own. And a part of what they told me was, if you get someone, they would consider reimbursement. They never reimbursed me. It was for like $1,500 of an expense. I was very disappointed with that. I continued to remain a customer and stayed with them, but those are things that would tend to cause service to be ended.

They were claiming that American Home Shield said that the hardware was part of regular maintenance and it should be replaced at my cost every X number of years. I had American Home Shield 15 years ago at another house, and I had a good experience with them. My timing was good and it was on the heels of a class action lawsuit that American Home Shield had lost. They were very quick to perform the details of the contract. I had issues with my air conditioner and with my water heater, and they covered those things. I felt like I got what I paid for at the time. 10 years into being in this house, even though it's expensive, it made sense to go with them again at the very least because with the really big-ticket items that wind up being a giant hit to the wall at one time, they are contractually obligated to cover for X dollar amount. It's just in a nutshell, when push comes to shove, it doesn't feel to me like they wind up covering what they say they're going to cover, even if they are transparent about what they claim they're going to cover.

Every year, American Home Shield goes up on the rates. I don't think they have good contractors, and a lot of them are not familiar with what they're doing or know how to fix a problem. I didn't like Universal. They came to repair my refrigerator, but they never did and I had to get a replacement. My ice maker wasn't working. When I submitted the claim to AHS, I went to the automated system, and then someone called me. They sent me the information of who was gonna come and the name. Then the contractor reached out to me to set up a time. They were responsive, but they couldn't fix the problem. They had to order parts, and it took a couple of weeks for the parts. American Home Shield had to approve it. Then I had to wait for the parts to come in and then they would reschedule. That happened three times. AHS sent another service people out. I had two different service people, and neither one of them could fix the problem.

I had a water leak. I went online to ask AHS for a service and within 24 hours, the plumber called and got me set up. The plumber did an excellent job. I really like the fact that he cleaned up after himself and left the place cleaner than it was when he got there. That was refreshing. Also, six months ago, I would say that American Home Shield's price was high. But I've had two water leaks in the hot water tank in the last four months.

At Bay Appliances wasn’t any good. I have a wall oven and it’s probably the original one when this house was built and it's overheating. There are two ovens but we use mainly the top one. The guy from Bay Appliances told me the parts were not being made anymore so they would put me in to get a replacement. And then, I never heard anything. The next thing I know, they sent me an email telling me that they're gonna rebuild the part, but we would be without an oven for 10 to 14 weeks. And I said that was not appropriate. But they never came. American Home Shield tried to buy me out for $300 and then nothing ever happened. The guy who came gave me his phone number and I texted him but he never contacted me back.
AHS sent somebody else out after I complained. It was another guy from a different company because I told them I didn't want the same company. He came out and did a test. We had to give him batteries because his batteries weren't working and said it was only 10% over overheating. He said that was normal, but I don't buy that because the food overcooks. It cooks quickly and we gotta watch it. Even baking a cake, it'll burn because it's too hot. He said he was gonna submit the information but I still haven't heard anything and I'm getting all these messages from American Home Shield asking me if it was complete. It wasn't.
AHS was fine before and then, they raised my price but they didn't even tell me that they were gonna raise it. It's been a mess. Before, they replaced my dishwasher and garbage disposal, and there was no problem. But now, it has not been satisfactory at all. AHS said because of all the mix-up, they weren't gonna bill me but I don't even know what the next month is gonna be because my ATM card was compromised and they should call about the payment like I told them. But they’re not providing the service. I'm thinking about going to somebody else because I've got two properties that are insured. I'm frustrated. I was trying to recommend AHS to my friend when AHS was doing well because she asked me about it. But now, I'd tell her not to do it.
I'm so sorry for the problems you've been experiencing. Please reach out to us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can discuss further.

I went through the website of AHS to request a service on the dishwasher. They assigned me Sears as the company to come out and I was able to schedule my time right then and there. But they didn't come out for a week, which had to do with my availability. Everything was taken care of right on the website. Then, the techs were going to try to order the part of the control panel, but they couldn't find a control panel. So they put in a claim to replace the dishwasher. So far, they haven't done that yet, but that's because I've been on travel for two weeks. When I got back yesterday, I picked out the one I wanted and it's supposed to be delivered on the 22nd.

A toilet was leaking. I called AHS and specifically asked for A&B Plumbing. The rep tried to at first say that she couldn't assign it to a particular person, but we eventually got to the outcome. A&B is the only company that I like with American Home Shield. They needed a part to fix the toilet and they came back the same day with it. It's working now.
I have AHS because I have rental homes and they service both of the areas which I have rentals. But they don't have great follow-up. I called them the month before and the technician never showed up twice. I had taken off of work because it was during the day and their response to me was they'd call the tech again and hope that they come out the third time. But I couldn't keep that up. Also, the consumers should have a list of available companies that they can pick from that service the area, with the understanding that the techs may take the work order for the day but sometimes, their books may be filled, but there's a list of who are available at the time. Because if I get the company that came out last time that didn't show, I'm going to cancel and recall back until I can get somebody else. So it's really hit or miss with AHS. Sometimes you can get great contractors, and other times you really need to read the reviews before they come to your house.

We have an AC split and I was having some issues. The contractor had to replace the split, which they did, and then, we had another issue where it was leaking from the water pump and they fixed that as well. Somebody told me about American Home Shield and I called. They talked to me for a while and after about a month, they told me to turn in the claim on the refrigerator. I did and they replaced it. I was ecstatic. American Home Shield is the best thing people could do. My ice maker quit working and it wasn't distributing ice or water. AHS immediately called AAA Appliances and the tech came out. He was courteous. He checked and found out that the maker wasn't working and it was replaced. Everything was great. Most of the vendors that American Home Shield hires are lousy so as a consumer, when they tell you who the vendor that they've assigned is, I've learned that you have to do your own research on the vendor and reject them if they're not very good because most of the ones that they send out have very low ratings on Google. If you do that, they'll eventually get you a good vendor. The last claim that I had was a plumbing leak. I rejected the initial vendor and AHS gave me a different one who did a great job. The one before that was an air conditioning problem and AHS sent a vendor out who wanted to charge three grand to repair it. When I did the research on the vendor and found that they had 1-star Google reviews, I got my own vendor to come out who repaired it for 250 bucks. AHS either goes for the cheapest possible vendor or they just don't vet their vendors at all.

My air conditioning unit froze up one day and since then, it had been doing this every year at around the same time. It starts when we start using the air conditioner when it gets warm. I've been told that I had a leak and the cost of it and I was ready to hear that and figure out what the next steps were. But I like to hear from more than one person. So, I put my order through American Home Shield to have someone look at it. They sent Sirius Plumbing and based on the issue, I told them what happened. They checked my pressures and I was definitely low in coolant. They went upstairs, did some checks and showed me the picture of some areas where it was damaged or needed to be repaired.
There were three different price options and they took their time to write it all up, longer than I normally have had with other companies. One was to replace just the lines and the cost of that would be four grand. Another one was to replace the lines and the outside unit and that was eight grand. Then there was another one that was a little bit over 10, to replace my damper systems, the board and lines, and even my furnace. If I'm gonna spend eight grand, I wanna get everything done. I don't wanna stop there so I picked the third option in which they scheduled time for me to get it paid for. They sent me the quote. I had to agree to it and I noticed that they wanted a payment method right away so I made sure that I had those funds ready. I clicked on it and they let me know that they could come out as soon as possible, which was good, because it was still warm enough where I don't wanna be uncomfortable.
The three-man crew came and disassembled everything. They covered the floor and the areas where there's gonna be a lot of traffic going on. They used the footing. They had one guy outside taking care of the outside unit while two guys were upstairs in the attic, and they got it done. They told me it was gonna take about a day and they weren't lying. They got there at 8 o'clock and they left at about 6:00. They explained everything well. I had questions because of the whole system which were just little quirks about it and they were telling me I didn’t have to worry about that anymore and that I should feel the difference. I got a bigger unit outside. I got the new system with the new refrigerant, which is cheaper than the old stuff that I had in there.
I had a digital thermostat that I purchased from Amazon a couple of years ago that I wanted to put up but it didn't work with the old unit and it worked on this unit. So the guys even installed that for me. When they were doing that, they brought out levels to make sure that that was right. I didn't have another one for the upstairs and they said I could order another one. They couldn't top off my coolant because it wasn't hot enough outside to gauge the pressures correctly. So they were gonna have to come back anyway. But when they come back, they would make sure to install the digital thermostat upstairs if I have it in. They were everything you would want. You're spending the money you're spending, then you wanna get good customer service and you want a good product. And so far, so good.
I like the new unit. I could be in my bed and I can turn the air on or off, or up or down, and upstairs and downstairs from my phone. One of the inconveniences of the old unit was I had to go into the attic just to change out the filter and I asked about the options of not having to do that. They said it would be a slight upcharge but they could reroute it where I will not have to go up in the attic to do that. And they did all that work, too. So I'm pleased with Sirius.
American Home Shield is more of the middleman because they've gone up each year. I've even had friends who have left AHS because they figured out the amount that they're paying a month that they weren't using it, and how they could save that money, and just for the event that they use it. I'm not a person that's handy with fixing stuff and it doesn't excite me to say that I got a project to work on. So having a little bit of peace of mind with having a company that will schedule and get people out to look at different things is good. AHS does a good job of being the middleman of getting you the services.
Nobody necessarily works for American Home Shield. They contract everything out and I've been with them long enough to know that. Because that's just what they do and they do a good job of that. They don't pressure you to do different things. They’re honest and upfront, and met my needs. I've had situations where it was a very urgent matter and they seemed to be responsive to that. You can get online quickly with them. One of the things that is weird is, before you even could get out good what the problem is, they're ready to collect payment. But it doesn't take them long to get you down the road with connecting you to somebody who can fix it. I've had the washing machine and the dishwasher stopped working and air issues multiple times, which is gonna be alleviated now.

American Home Shield's response time in getting parts is a little extreme. A contractor came out when my washer went out. They said they could get the parts in six weeks. I can't go without a washer. I've got a house full of people so I just went ahead and bought a new washer. Recently, Ramco Plumbing came out, and it was a horrendous experience. American Home Shield started going on about how the water faucet in the shower was a Moran brand and they supposedly have a lifetime warranty, which when I did the research, that's not true. They charged me to send somebody out who was starting to talk about taking out the wall to fix the shower. I said, "We're not doing anything until I get some guarantees that you guys are gonna fix the wall back." The contractor said they don't do that.
At the end of the whole thing, they were charging me $140 to tell me they can't fix it, to contact Moran, or I can go buy the part, the contractor will fix it, but American Home Shield won't cover it. They called me back because I was not happy with it and told them upfront. They refunded me the $140. What I ended up doing was calling my old plumber. He came out the next day and fixed it in less than five minutes and it didn't require the wall coming down or changing out the entire shower. I'm not impressed with American Home Shield. It was awesome at one time, but they've gotten a little too big. They need to contract better people.

American Home Shield needs more qualified people. The first people they sent out were useless. They did nothing. The ice maker wasn't working, and the guy decided the way to fix it was to defrost it, which we've done several times. We asked what was causing the issue and he said nothing was wrong with it. Then he looked in the oven and said, "I can't find the model number, so I can't replace the element."
I called into the office and spoke to someone. He took measurements and said they would try to find an element that would match to go in there. They finally found something and put it in there. But American Home Shield doesn't have great customer service. I was calling and telling them that the people didn't do anything but rep said, "We have to wait for their report." I asked to speak to a supervisor but was told I didn't need to. I'm irritated with them. American Home Shield also needs to change their website because you have to pay first in order to see a calendar to schedule for someone to come out. American Home Shield has been good to deal with. If somebody was getting a home warranty, I would definitely recommend them. A&S Plumbing provided great service when the sewage injection pump went out. But it took some time for them to get a pump in, which is odd because I could've walked into any department store and got one out of there. The plumber claimed that he had to get it off Amazon and it took a week to come in. Once it came in, he came back out and installed the pump in no time. A lot of times, I don't have the exact problem that I'm having on one of American Home Shield's drop-down menus online so I'd much rather speak to a person. I called AHS on March 12th with no working heating. The first person they sent out said they couldn't diagnose it and let me know right away. They called AHS right away and let them know. AHS refused to reassign it for five days while I had no heat. It was in the 20s at night. Then AHS sent out TNR HVAC who came out April 12th. The board they were saying was the issue was working fine. The repairman said he needed to order it but he needed it approved but AHS. The next day, I called up AHS and they didn't have it in their system yet. I texted him and let him know it was not in the system if he ordered it. That was a Thursday. On Friday, I called up AHS again. They said they still didn't have it in the system. I tried getting ahold of him again but never got a return call.
On Friday night, he finally put in the part request from Wednesday. It took him two days to put in the part request. On Monday AHS finally told me the part had been approved and he was gonna order it. I sent him a text saying the part had been approved, even though I didn't think it was the right part. He sent me a text message that it should be in on Wednesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, I didn't hear from him. I tried contacting him. He finally replied and said the part would be in the next week. I said, "It was supposed to be in yesterday." He said, "Where did you get that?" All that next week, I kept trying to call him but he never returned a call. He had closed the ticket saying he couldn't get ahold of me.
I had to get the call log by the following Thursday and send it to AHS. They have very polite call people at AHS, but they don't do anything. They just push you off. The Twitter people are based down on North Carolina where AHS is headquartered and they responded. I wish the Twitter people were available for their website because no one responds from their website. You can set up an appointment, but you can't do anything with the problem. I sent them a call log showing that this guy from TNR HVAC had never called me back. That was when they said they'd get me somebody different. When I finally got ahold of the third guy, he didn't work on geothermals and he immediately was frustrated because he knew what I'd gone through. He said, "I don't even know why they gave me your account because I don't even work on geothermals." We had to start all over again and finally, the Breon guy came out and fixed it.
I've had good luck with AHS over the years for simple stuff. But HVAC is more complicated and none of the major firms will work with AHS because AHS won't pay them enough. They hire second-rate, not necessarily skilled people, but people willing to take less money. After that kind of service, I canceled AHS and would never recommend them again.

The refrigerator has water coming out of it. It won't cool and all my food is spoiled. I can't use it. The repairman said that Samsung has a lawsuit against it. The second time he came out, he was here at 10:45 and was gone by 10:50. He opened it up, looked into it and saw the water leaking on the floor. He said there was nothing he could do and left. A couple of days later, I called American Home Shield and they referred it to Anthony's Appliance. Anthony's Appliance came out here and looked at it. The repairman pulled the refrigerator out. He got behind it and he checked them. He said the motherboard and the compressor are bad. They'd go back and see if they can find the part. That was when it went downhill.
I was waiting for somebody to tell me if the parts have been ordered. Every day I have to go buy my family food because we can't keep anything cool unless we freeze it in a freezer. I called American Home Shield and Sears and everybody told me that parts were on order. I called Anthony's Appliance and they told me there are no parts on order. They haven't found the parts yet. I started this on the 18th of April and was told I gotta wait till the 28th of May for this to be escalated back to American Home Shield to tell me to go out and look for one. Somebody should at least be able to tell me whether the parts are on order and they will be here X day. I can't even get that. On the 28th of May, I don't know what's gonna happen. I'm assuming I have to call American Home Shield and ask them. I have to go through all this hoopla again.
I'm very upset with American Home Shield. They don't care about their customers anymore. I call there and can't get an English-speaking person. I ask to speak to a supervisor and am told, "Sir, we don't have supervisors here. We have to put a ticket in for a supervisor to contact you between 24 and 48 hours.” Then the supervisor calls and tells me the same stuff four times. I threatened to cancel my service, and the people that are talking to me don't care if I canceled or not. You can't get corporate number. I asked for a phone number to the customer complaint section. I looked online to try to find it. The Better Business Bureau won't give it to me. The closest I can find out is they're in Tennessee somewhere. I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield to anybody out there who needs home warranty.

Don't get American Home Shield. They are going to look for any sentence on the contract to use on their favor. There's no way as a consumer to try to negotiate with them. We had an AC problem that made a bigger problem for the furnace and all the system that we changed. American Home Shield covered the initial things. They said that we needed to change the furnace because it had a crack. Our house is from 1910 and that previous furnace was installed way before we bought the house two years ago. The code was completely different, and nowadays that code is not valued anymore. They said because of that, they wouldn't cover anything so we had to pay out of pocket the furnace.
Currently, I have an open case for my washer and dryer. It's a General Electric single machine. It's not been working since the beginning of March. They sent General Electric company to see the machine. That was very fast. They needed to replace five parts which they ordered immediately. But one is in back order and they don't have an estimated date. They said that probably it will arrive late May. When they told me that, I asked for another option like cash-out because being without a washer and dryer for so many months is not ideal, and I‘m still paying for American Home Shield every month. They said that that's not an option. As soon as they open the case and order the parts, my only option as a consumer is to wait for that. It can take several months but there's nothing that I can do.

D & K Refrigeration did the scheduled maintenance last year. They told me some things that I needed to do to improve my equipment. None of that was covered by American Home Shield so I paid it and had it done. They came back and followed up to make sure that we were doing great. I appreciated that. Then, this year, we had a hot spell early part of March. We were trying to turn the air on and the air didn't come on. It was blowing, but it wasn't blowing cool air. I called it into American Home Shield and they gave me a company that didn't call that day.
I asked if they could please call D & K and to my surprise, they did just that. D & K came out that next morning. It was unbelievable. They told me the unit was gone and made contact with American Home Shield. They said they could come back that day and do it or they could do first thing in the morning. It was a holiday weekend and I had people coming to the house so they worked me in and got me taken care of. They came out early that morning and got it knocked out and made sure we were straight before they left and then came back to check. They did a wonderful job. That's what you call a vendor. I'm telling everybody about American Home Shield. Although sometimes I get someone that doesn't speak very good English. But that's the nature of the beast now for everyone.

The repairman did what he had to do when we had an AC issue. It was quick. However, half the time, I can't understand whoever it is. I have to ask for a supervisor but they will not allow me to talk to a supervisor. I've had a couple of experiences with them not taking the payment out of my account like they're supposed to. They will wait and call me four days later then they keep calling me every day. I had rented my house out and had to evict the people. There were different things that had happened where I had to call American Home Shield. It was a very difficult thing to do being in Hawaii and not being in Texas. But the lady on the phone told me, "You need to write down everything that is wrong and we'll go through everything." That was a beautiful thing because they came out and did everything. American Home Shield saves me a lot of money. I haven't regretted getting at all.

I had a very big issue with AHS because my ex was living in the house and it was a two-year battle to get him out. I'm the sole homeowner and the policyholder and yet he would call in and get them to change and make him the administrator, which he had no right to do. Whoever he got ahold of on the phone allowed it and kept me out of access to my own account, but was charging services to my credit card. I went through a whole thing with the legal department. I sent them copies of the deed and this and that and the other for proof. This went on for months and months and he still was able to call in. I don't know if they didn't look over the notes, but they would change it for him. This happened like six times. I finally got him out, though, but it went on for a while. Other than that, my experience is good when it's good and it's horrible when it's not. With other experiences where people came out and did the work, I am satisfied. I still recommend that people get it to protect themselves, even if it doesn't cover everything. It's a smart thing to do.

The last claim I had was for the stove and it took some months. I live in the country and we had some problems trying to get somebody out here in my area. They had brought out a few technicians but they couldn't repair it and then, instead of closing it out, which was fine, they transferred it. The second one did the same thing and I went through three contractors before they found somebody. Also, I had to keep calling because they lost track of my stove. The technicians would get back to American Home Shield and give their response. Sometimes, I would wait a while and ask what happened. That also took a long time. There was a long delay between American Home Shield and the technician and that didn't help either. I put in the claim in September and I just got it fixed last month. They said at first by Thanksgiving, but Thanksgiving came. Then, I had to buy a little electric oven stove so I can make a turkey for my family and have a stove to use for when I need one because of the stove being broke.
Usually, they're pretty good, though, and I've never had this much trouble. I was in the city and I've had pretty good service with them and they send good people out. But from what it was before and what I have gotten through now, the service really changed. I feel like before, they'd come out and do what they gotta do. If they had to order a part, they would turn that in tell them that they had to order part. But it seems like the communication between the technician and the American Home Shield isn't followed up unless I called. I had to be the one in the middle and keep calling in order to get somebody else going.

I got a claim with American Home Shield that's pending. It was tentatively scheduled for Tuesday but I texted the repairman and told him I was not available. I've not heard anything back in two days. I've been without a stove for over a week. In April, the oven itself wasn't working. He fixed that, but now there's no power at all to the oven.

I've always loved American Home Shield. They've always done me right. In the first 15 years that I had them, they bought me a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and a stove 'cause the old ones couldn't be fixed. Recently, my washer could not be repaired because they no longer make the part. The repairman tried to find a used machine that had been junked but couldn't find my part. American Home Shield is buying me a machine. I've got my money's worth from what I pay on a monthly basis and I'm very satisfied with what I pay. 15 years ago, it was $75 every time they came out. Now, it's $100 but with everything else going up, I accept that.

A contractor came to fill coolant in my unit. A little twist cap had come loose so they tightened it. It's a convenience to be able to call somebody but I've not been happy with American Home Shield because they won't fix big repairs. They'll only put Band-Aids on stuff. I have a 38-year-old furnace, and when the pan to the coils were leaking water all over the floor, they wanted to replace the coils. They couldn't even get the coils. They'd have to retrofit them from something they'd get from China. I opted to take the buy-out but that was only $500. I had another company I was using on a rental property that had the same thing happened. It was the condenser that went out and they paid $3,000 for the whole thing. We ended up putting a new furnace in that cost $4,000, so it was a much better deal.
When my hot water heater broke, I didn't call American Home Shield when it started leaking because I knew they would charge me $1,300 over and above what that hot water heater would have cost. I called somebody else and had them put one in that cost under $1.000. When my dishwasher was making a weird noise, a repairman came out. He couldn't find the issue and told me it was fine. But it was still making this weird noise. I called again, and they sent the same the guy up. It was still making a weird noise. I had them come out a third time and asked for somebody different. A guy came out and found a popsicle stick.
If you go online and say “my air conditioning is not working,” you don't have a chance to say it's not cooling. If you say it's not cooling and it turns out to be something else, then they wanna charge you another service charge. If you call them and tell them, “I don't know what it is. It's not cooling,” and you can describe it to them, you get a much better result than if you just go online and take their multiple choice questions. They give you options, and you have to pick an option, but it doesn't explain what's going on then they send you the wrong person out. American Home Shield has gone down over the years. The price has gone up so high it makes me wanna quit.

I love having American Home Shield. I tell people about it all the time. They replaced the refrigerator for me, which they did great with. They replaced the motor and the evaporator in my AC unit. They also replaced the pool pump and the motor. This is the second time the same person has come out in two years. Two years ago, the same pump went out and they came out and replaced it. They came out and fixed the garage door too. Any time I have anything go wrong in the house, I just go to my app and submit the claim. I've spent less on American Home Shield than they've spent on me.
I had one problem with the AC when I had the evaporator go out. We tried to get in touch with them on a Friday but they couldn't get out until Monday or Tuesday. It was frustrating. I've had the AC serviced twice where they had to put freon in. The first time, they had to put in 11 pounds. They said it was completely drained. When they came out to replace the evaporator, they said they replaced the evaporator then a year later, they said it was empty again. That was the third time I would have had to have freon, but twice in a year.
The company that was doing the service said they were gonna have to pull all of freon out and they'd have to replace. They wanted me to pay for all 11 pounds, and it was worth $1,100. I argued with them but they said, “No, that's what we have to do.” I canceled the service with that company. I hired another guy who came out here, and he only had to put in four pounds to replace what was here. It only cost me $400 instead of the 11 pounds they were gonna charge me.

I love American Home Shield. I've been on the website, and it was easy to use. When I first got American Home Shield, it was 79, and now, it's gotten up to 93. Still, my experience has been awesome, except one time when my septic messed up. I had to go seven days because they couldn't find anybody to come out and fix it. They had to reimburse me my $100 and I had to get it done on my own. That's the only problem I've had though.
When my air conditioner went out, I contacted American Home Shield by phone and talked to a person. They sent out Baskett's Repair and they changed something that looks like an oil filter. All in all, people need to get American Home Shield 'cause they're good. I've done got my brother's fiancee, and she's got it on her mom and daddy's house, and she's got it on her trailer. I'm talking with my best friend to get it on her house as well.

I've always been with American Home Shield, and their customer service has been good. They always respond promptly. We had a clogged garbage disposal in the kitchen, and it was fixed in a timely manner. However, I had one incident that I wasn't so pleased with. We have a double oven, and the glass on the bottom one was broken by accident. When we called them in, they said the only things they fix are things that happen naturally, not by accident.
We were stuck with a two-oven thing that we can only use the one. If we need to replace it at all, we'd have to replace the entire thing. I've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years and I've been paying every month. I felt that that was something they could have changed. In fact, I'm at a point where I'm thinking, "Is it worth keeping?" It's not so much American Home Shield, but I'm wondering whether it's cost-effective to have that type of insurance. It makes me wonder if a large item breaks, would they really handle it or would they come up with some reason? Still, I will tell people to go ahead with American Home Shield.

I reached out online, and once American Home Shield established that Bast Heating & Cooling was coming out, I talked to Bast on the phone. They worked on my air conditioner, and they were quite prompt. They assessed what the problem was, fixed it on the spot and we've had no other problem since then. Overall, American Home Shield is reliable. They honor their contract well, and I've been very pleased with them.

Sears came out and fixed my refrigerator. It was building up a lot of frost and leaking on the inside. I did the service request on phone because it was very hard to do online. Another thing is the services that I've asked for, I can't get in my area with American Home Shield, which makes me wonder sometimes if that's what I wanna have. The prime example is getting emails constantly about setting up an inspection for the air conditioning and see how it's working, but when I go to do that, there's nobody that will come out and do it. There isn't a vendor that will do it in the area. The way I see it, what they're saying is they'll wait till something is totally malfunctioning, and then they'll come out instead of me trying to do a preventative measure.
On the whole, when there is a problem, I can get service quickly. I've had three problems, and I've had service within a reasonable period of time. When it comes to some things like preventative measures that are offered though, it seems like I can't get them through the company. People might wanna check with somebody else who has service in the area.

For the first four weeks, I felt I threw my money down the drain because I thought that I would get a reputable company that would have reputable people working for American Home Shield. But my perception was that was not the case. The first individual AHS sent out replaced one gasket on my refrigerator freezer that goes to the ice maker. Did that fine. The other gasket he replaced didn't do well. It caused more ice in the refrigerator than it should have. AHS sent out another one who tried to jury-rig the gasket that he had, played with it, and tried to order a new gasket. He ordered one that didn't fit my refrigerator freezer, so that caused even more ice. I lost $350 worth of food. The second guy that came from the same establishment broke one of the shelves in the freezer. It was a fiasco. And it took 4.5 weeks or longer for it to be done. AHS reimbursed me for the first deductible, which I was very appreciative of. But they didn't replace food.
The second company that came out, the gentleman told me that the gasket was no longer available, so he purchased another gasket and put that on there. He put the correct gasket on, and did a nice job. He got everything together, came in, repaired it. I also had a problem with my washer. The contractor came out, repaired it. Took 20 minutes and they were gone.

Our experience with American Home Shield is a hit or a miss. I wasn't impressed with this experience that I had with the company that they hired to work on my AC. They need to make sure that they hire top-notch companies and not companies that aren't adequate enough to do the job so that they don't have to send out multiple companies to do the same job. My experience with them this last time was terrible. It took four technicians and two different companies to come out to my house. Three of those technicians were from the same company. I was ready to cancel my policy. It was the experience of the technician that they were sending out. I don't think they were very experienced. They couldn't have been more than 20. They were very young. I just don't think they were very qualified to troubleshoot the issue that I was having. None of them really knew what was going on with it.
They ended up fixing it. It took four technicians and two to three weeks to resolve the problem. I had toddlers and dogs at my house. It was incredibly stressful. One of the ladies offered a refund for the service that you have to pay $125 to have them come out. She offered a solution by helping refund it, so that I could try and get a window unit, which isn't what you wanna hear when you're AC is supposed to be working and fixed by one of their technicians or companies that they hired.
All in all, AHS is not bad. I've had some pretty good experiences with them. I just don't like that they keep raising their prices because a lot of times, I don't even use American Home Shield. I don't have that many issues. In the five years since I hired them, I don't believe I've had enough issues every single month for them to keep raising their prices on me. By the time I end up really having a problem, I could have saved all of that money and put it in a bank account, and just bought something new with whatever and solve my own problem for less money. I'm just paying for peace of mind, but I'm not entirely using the service.

We had an electrical problem. An outlet was sparking. So, we put in a request to American Home Shield and it took them several days before they could find someone to do it. It took like four days before they told us our job had been put with an electrician. Then once we got in touch with the electrician, it was like the very next day they came out. The technician was excellent. He explained why it was sparking. He was like, "I'm sorry, you would not have been able to fix this 'cause it needed a whole new section thing. It wasn't really properly put in." They had the parts there on the truck and they were able to fix it and everything was great.
Every time that we've called in to the service, the biggest problem is the timeline from the time we put in the request and before they contact or get a service person to respond. But once we contact with the service people, it's been good and it is reassuring that things are gonna be okay, and that if something's gonna break, we're not gonna have a big repair bill. It is really nice to have that.

American Home Shield is convenient and their prices are reasonable. Sometimes their coverage can go one way or another depending on the changes that they make from year to year. Also, they minimize the level of effort to find a service company to come and perform a fix for a certain thing. Sometimes their service providers are not the greatest or are far from the actual location of the home. But I appreciate that 8 to 9 times out of 10, they've been able to fix the issue.
The recent contractor was there for the garbage disposal because that was clogged and we were concerned that there was a leak from the upstairs bathroom toilet into the downstairs bathroom. They were the most communicative of the companies that have come out recently. They scheduled with me and my tenant at that property, and had communication with me after they were done and what needed to be fixed after that was outside the bounds of what they were able to do. I like them. There was not a leak like we thought there was. So, that was a win. And the bathroom upstairs could just use a super deep clean and re-caulking of everything.

I like the user-friendliness of American Home Shield's website. Using it was a simple process. The only issue I have is having to pay that $75 each time I submit a service request. But with what I get covered for what I pay a month, I can't complain about the $75. I've been with AHS for several years, which is why I don't understand why I'm expected to pay the regular amount that I'm being charged. I thought I purchased a promotion. But the promotion expired. So, now I pay $100 a month to get AHS. That is the only thing that makes me apprehensive about keeping the service. It's a touch and go with the $75 each service request. Because in one sense, I understand it. Because of all that is covered it, $75 is better than paying $600 for a new appliance.
I went from paying $60, $70 for everything to now $100 without my prior authorization. They just threw me in there. But I would look at my contract and looking at what all is covered, maybe my $100 a month isn't bad. But I barely use the service. I pay $100 a month for it. And I'm paying for just in case. I feel like I'm paying car insurance again. But I like that they cover everything. Another thing I love is they don't give me issues about not being the homeowner. Whether I'm renting or owning, they cover everything. And it's the same across the board. I would recommend American Home Shield to anyone renting or owning.
AHS would give me the company name, the number, the technician that would come out, and their cellphone number. However, it's not a requirement of the contractor to say they would call me three days in advance. For instance, if the technician is coming out on Monday, I would get a text on Saturday or Sunday saying they would give me an 8:00 to 5:00 window. But a technician would call me when they're en route. So, I would have to free up my entire day for a two-hour job. But the work has been outstanding. The last two issues, it ended up being more than what I expected. The technicians came in, and checked my system thoroughly. My air conditioner wasn't cooling the house like it should. The first time, it was the coil because my system is outdated. And this most recent time, it was the compressor. But the contractor replaced both parts. And since being replaced, I have not had not one issue.

I'm in Florida and my wife was visiting Maryland. We have a house in Maryland, too. During that time, my wife couldn't get around very well, and she keeps her medicine in the refrigerator. The refrigerator is about five years old. It had a year warranty on it because it was damaged when we bought it and when she called me, I said, "Okay, I'll call Home Shield and have them come look." So, I called Home Shield and I paid my $125 for them to put in a work order. A guy showed up and he opened the refrigerator and looked inside. Both sides of the refrigerator quit working. This had happened a day. I told my wife to unplug it the night before, and then leave it the next morning, and plug it back in. If it don't work, then I'll call and put in a work order. She had the neighbor do it for her. When the guy showed up, he opened the refrigerator, looked inside, and said it's still under warranty. He got in his van and left.
He said to call the warranty. I know that the refrigerator was not under warranty. So, I called Home Shield back and complained about that. The lady who was supposed to put in an emergency work order called me back and said this other company was on their way out there. They never showed up. During that time, my wife had to have the neighbor come over and bring her medicine. The first guy who came told her to put her medicine in a cooler until we call the warranty company.
AHS shrugged it off. So, I was really upset. I called back five times making complaints and each time, somebody referred me to someone else. Finally, I talked to two different supervisors. The last one I talked to told me to adapt, improvise, and overcome. I don't like anything about AHS. The customer service sucks. They're very unprofessional. 90% of them don't speak English. The furnace, I was told, needed some repairs. The first contractor that American Home Shield sent out was unprofessional and dressed scraggly. He went to my basement, and was there for five minutes. He came up and said, “You need a whole new furnace.” The contractor said they would send us a quote and they could install the week after, and it would cost this much.
I ended up calling AHS and having them send a different company out to check our furnace. That second company said, “You don't need a new whole furnace. You're gonna need some repairs, but we can't actually repair anything until it goes out.” The first company tried to screw me over. I hope AHS would take that company off of their list of vendors that they work with, because I've heard similar things about that company. Other than that, American Home Shield is a good service. It’s nice to have it because any repairs or replacements these days are expensive. I liked being able to pick what they cover and they are usually good about getting a contractor assigned and getting them out to me as quick as they could.

The garage door was off-track. The garage door opener wouldn't work. You have to pull it out manually. American Home Shield sent Ace's and they came in and they wrote that they couldn't access it. They didn't call me. I was in the middle of doing construction. They said they couldn't access the garage door opener part, so they left and I got charged for the fee. They were in the garage. They looked at it and were like, "Oh, we can't work on this. We need to leave." They left. It could have taken five minutes to move the stuff that was right there, but they didn't.
I just called American Home Shield the other day and they said it's not covered under my warranty. I was like, "It's not covered under my warranty? What's going on? It’s the garage door." They said I have to pay $3,000 to get the garage door on track. I paid a guy who has a business. I gave him $50 and he put it back on track for me, but the garage door part is still broken, so I don't have the garage door opener. AHS recently said they're gonna refund me for the claim, but it's still broken, though. And they said if I want to, I need to file another claim to do it again. I don't want that company to come back. I would like another company.
I wouldn't recommend American Home Shield because the same thing happened with the sink last year. My dishwasher had a little water in it. The guy was like, "Oh, it was supposed to be clean before I got here." I was like, "Oh, I cleaned it." He was like, "No. I'm out of here. I'm leaving." It was so much stuff with the dishwasher last year with another company. I usually don't have issues. I'm a really good person. I also had the AC unit guy. He didn't end up doing it. He was a nice gentleman. They just wanted so much money and I couldn't afford it, but he was a good person. The dishwasher people were very rude. They didn't communicate.

The first 10 years with American Home Shield was great. Everything after that has been a hassle. It took me six years to get my refrigerator replaced. It leaked on the floor. I called AHS. Even the gentleman that came out and look at it said, "You know, they don't replace this. They don't wanna replace parts." Same thing with my air conditioner. Called AHS about it. They refused to fix it. They said that I had an animal that would have peed on the air conditioner. I live in a condo that we didn't even have pets. I had my father-in-law come out to look at it and it was when the guys from the association came to salt. They threw that salt down. Our air conditioners weren't escalated. So, salt ate away at the metal of the air conditioner because it didn't have a cover on it. But AHS said I had a pet and my pet peed on it, but we couldn't even have pets.
I didn't know where water was coming from in my basement. A neighbor called me and said, "Water is coming into my side of the basement." So, I rushed to the property and called American Home Shield who sent out Carl's as emergency staff. When the gentleman came to the door, he was very agitated and rude. And when he came inside, he did not help me solve the problem. He just berated me and said, "What did you do?" I said, "I didn't do anything. My neighbor called and told me there was water coming in the basement. I tried to turn off the main pipe, but water still leaked coming from somewhere, and I didn't know where." He said, "You're gonna have to turn off the association for the whole property's main pipe." I said, "I don't know where that is, but let me see if I can find the documents for the condo."
I went to go look for it. When I came back downstairs, he said, "I got it turned off." I said, "Okay. Well, what's the next step?" He ended up getting a phone call. It sounded like from the main office. He was very irate to whoever he was talking to on the phone. He said, "There's old plumbing over here. This is a big mess. I'm trying to deal with this right now. I will call you when I'm done." He got up and we walked upstairs, and I asked, "What's next?" H said, "This is just a big mess." And he got in his truck and I asked, "Do you need anything more from me?" He said, "No." I received a message from Carl's Plumbing and American Home Shield that said there would be modifications, and it wasn't covered by AHS.
I called AHS and said, "I don't understand." At first, he didn't solve my problem. He turned the main pipe off, but water still leaked. I went back to work, came back and the basement was still wet. It wasn't the faucet that he thought it was. It was the toilet because the screws of the main tank rotted. So, as that kept filling up, water kept flowing down onto the floor. AHS gave me their apologies. I said, "I want a refund because he didn't solve my problem and you guys were telling me things aren't covered." They refused. I told the rep I wanted to cancel their services and they refused, too. I stayed on the phone with this gentleman who refused to cancel my service for 45 minutes. He refused to give me a refund and refused to cancel my service with American Home Shield, which I've had for at least 15 years. There was no accommodation at that point.
AHS re-sent Carl's Plumbing out, but AHS sent out two different gentlemen. I told one they left a bad taste in my mouth. When I explained it to him, he was in training, he told the gentleman that was training him, and he came out and apologized and said that wasn't the first issue that they had with that individual, and that they would get me all taken care of. They went in, saw that it was the tank, ran and got some screws, replaced them, and the leaking stopped. But it wasn't a smooth transition and it didn't feel good.

I had a toilet that started leaking. I called American Home Shield to get somebody to come out and check it, and it turned out that it was a cracked tank. So they could not fix it or they were going to have to replace it. The problem that we have with it is there's a shelf that's built in across the top of it, and it barely fits in there. So it had been hanging up and not flushing right. And when taking the top off, adjusting the apparatus inside, and putting the top back on, somehow it cracked the tank. I didn't do anything above what I've done many times before, but whatever it was, the tank cracked. AHS said it was not ordinary wear and tear, so they weren't going to replace it.
That doesn't sense to me because our toilet is over 20 years old now, so I don't know why it wouldn't be normal wear and tear. I can see that they have a point, but I don't really agree. If that's the rule, I disagree more with the report the plumber did on it. Also, I paid the $100, which is the normal fee for a house, whether they fix it or not, and I had another plumber come and look at it. He said the same thing. We've been with AHS around eight years. So many problems you can have go wrong nowadays with your household appliances that it seemed like getting the insurance was a smart thing to do. And most of the time, it works out fine and they've always done a good job up. I've never had a problem up until now. The toilet is still not fixed and it's been over a month. Plus, nobody can find a toilet to replace it because of the cabinet that's in there. They have changed the way they build these things.

I had an HVAC repair service come out to do a tune-up because that's what I do twice a year to make sure it's running efficiently. They said there was an issue with it, so I contacted American Home Shield and I told them that my service technician had seen this issue. They said they couldn't do anything based on their review but that they'd send out somebody and I had to pay the service call. Their technician came back and said completely different to what my first guy said. He was terrible and a little bit rude. When I started to volunteer the information that I had, he didn't want to know what the previous guy had said and he was very abrupt about it. From that moment on, I wasn't comfortable with him.
I complained to American Home Shield and told them their tech is telling me that the repair of the problem he found is not even covered by the warranty. That didn't make any sense. They said that if I sent a second opinion, then the second opinion would make the decision. The second opinion I got met the same results as my first guy. But my second guy was totally out of whack. So far, it's been a month and a half in process and I still haven't had any resolution from American Home Shield.
At one point, they said they could offer me a buyout if I didn't want to have the service done with the second guy. But the second guy is offering such a stupid service that costs $100 and the real thing that has to be done costs a couple of thousand. AHS told me that they would be working on my problem and that they would send me an offer, but I've never heard anything. I'm pretty disgusted with them and I expected better, especially since I did what they said. But this is the first time I've had anything that's questionable.

Having the service for so many years, it has worked for me. I had some electrical issues in the house that they came and they fixed that. But in the past, I've had issues with a few of my claims. In some instances, I was not happy with the outcome. When we file a claim for anything, they assign a contractor to come and fix it and from there, American Shield completely relies on the contractor. They don't listen to the consumer and it should be mutual. That's where they fail. Another thing is, I've noticed this in two or three instances when I filed my claim, that when the contractors come, the price that they quote is five times more than the market price. It's outrageous and ridiculous. Also, my service started with about $75 a month and recently, I got a notification that they will charge me $120 for that. It's a significant amount of money that has gone up.

American Home Shield was part of my closing cost. They provided that for a year. I retained it for another year and I had good luck with them. But my systems were fairly new so I discontinued the plan. And the price went up. My home is getting older. I thought it was a good time. AHS offered a good plan for half price. So, I decided to sign up and good thing I did.
When we tried to turn on our air conditioner for the first time in the year, it kept blowing the fuse. I submitted the claim with AHS and they took care of it quickly. I had an appointment the next day. The contractor called and told me who would come, gave me a time, got my phone number. I knew the name of the company. The tech had to come out twice. He didn't have one of the things he thought he needed, or that he ended up needing. But he was efficient. He came right back when he said he did, and took care of the problem at that time. Everything is working fine.
I've recommended AHS to a friend of mine. She bought a new house 13 years ago. And it's a nice home. But she's single and worried about repair cost. I said, "Look at the plan, here's my plan. You can look at it. It's the best thing. It's just $100 copay. So anything that goes wrong, they'll take care of it. But look at it and see if it would work for you." It handles most problems with an easy copay and easy to schedule.

I have been an American Home Shield customer for about five years. I have had some good experiences and some bad ones. I am currently in the midst of a bad one. I have been waiting for my oven to be fixed for 2 solid months. I have had one repairman (from Sears) come, diagnose the problem and order parts. After that no parts arrived. At different times my service requests have been cancelled by Sears, marked as finished by Sears.
My home page on AHS has been listed various times as having been completed and when the status on the AHS homepage correctly list the service request as open, it has incorrect dates on it. It is impossible to talk to a human at Sears and when I call AHS, they promise to call sears and correct the problem. The problem have never solved. I have called AHS about twice a week for the past months and as yet, my oven is still broken. The status on my AHS homepage does not match the real status of my problem and I get emails from AHS saying the service request is closed and problem is solved. The AHS representatives obviously are not able to communicate with and update the AHS computer system.

The hot water heater was shutting off and I had no hot water. I called AHS and submitted a claim. Then they called the plumber and the plumber sent me a message about when he was coming out. But I didn't get a text message from the home warranty company until o'clock in the evening when the tech had already been there and had gone. The plumber was clean, courteous, and thorough about what the problem might be. The first time, he fixed one problem but then the problem reoccurred and he had to come back. When he came the second time around, he changed thermocouple and that fixed the problem. Then I had no issues for another week or so when heater started doing it again. He came out and that was when he said then it's got to be the thermostat, not the coupler.
He had to order it and he couldn't find the part anywhere. It took almost a week and a half where before I got in the shower, I had to go out there and make sure that the hot water heater was on and relight it most of the times. The contractor called me when the part came in and we set up an appointment. Even before the appointment, they messaged me that morning that their plumber would be out at a certain time. And then when he was on his way out, I'd get a message from them too. So, they were on it. Also, the tech told me that we could either change the thermostat or change the hot water heater. But American Home Shield didn't want to replace the hot water heater even though it's 20-something years old. Despite that, I've stayed with AHS because so far, they've been pretty good about everything else.

I love American Home Shield. The people from the latest company that they sent out, Derheimer, were racists. I refuse to have those people come back out to my home. They were here for a water problem. The man talked rudely to me like I wasn't even a human being. Finally, they did send a young guy from that company, and he came and he did a marvelous job. I had a sump pump that was 35 years old. It went down. It needed to be replaced. What the guy did was he took a part off a new pump and stuck it on there. A day after he left, it got to doing the same thing again. I called them and the owner said, "Oh, so I guess that's just like them pipes." I called American Home Shield and told them not to ever send those people back to my home.
As far as the customer service, at first, it was raggedy. I couldn't understand the people's language. Then AHS got better people, and their assistance was much better. I don't like that when I have to call an outside firm, I got to go through all kind of hoops. They finally approved it. I ended up having to spend close to $900 on my own when this company could have came out. They did eventually allow me to go outside, but they still haven't returned my money for the service that I had to have because I had to pay them. They told me I had to pay out of pocket, and then they'd reimbursed me. I haven't been reimbursed yet.
American Home Shield is a good company. It’s just they're not readily prepared. Most people want to deny racism and other races don't understand it. But I most certainly understand racism and I was appalled. I can't blame them for the racist company, but once they become aware of it, they need to have a better system in place. They did let me know I had an option, but I had to pull teeth to find it out. The lady did call me and gave me the spiel on what I needed to do. I got right on it because I couldn't have a sump pump. I still would recommend AHS to a friend.

We had had the little checkup that AHS offers every season and there was an issue that air conditioner where it would come on but we didn't get any cool air. It turned out that the thermostat was shorting it out, so the tech swapped out the thermostat. He did quite a bit of back and forth trying to figure out what was wrong, and it was as simple as the thermostat. We had a much more modern thermostat than what we have now that he put in. But it doesn't matter. What good is the fancy schmancy if it doesn't work? As long as the air conditioner works, I'm fine.
I requested for this service online and I had no difficulty with it. But I had no issues reaching out to AHS with an online presence to tell them what problem I was having and to set up the original call for the techs to come out. At times when you call and you have an issue, it's hard sometimes getting through on the phone, which is why I did what I do online. And when you do get somebody in customer service, they're not from this country and they don't always understand exactly what it is that you're trying to say.
I've also never had any problem with them dispatching somebody to repair whatever our issue was and we've not had any problems with any repairs that they've done. But there was one tech who came out for one of those heating system check-ups that I felt did a sorry job because he went downstairs in our basement with no tools or bag. Aside from that, the premium seems to have gone up every year and I'm disturbed at that. In fact, the renewal premium would be nearly double what we started out with and we only started out with American Home Shield in 2018. But the tech fee amount that we pay hasn't gone up.

I don't see the value in American Home Shield. I'm considering canceling both my plans. I need to look at the coverage updates. I just received it earlier this week. We've had some worthwhile claims and the small fine print makes them unable to cover those things. So, I'm not seeing the value. Most recently, we had some drain problem stemming from the drain in our water room. And because our vent stack is on the roof and not on the horizontal surfaces of a home because we live in Florida, they were unable to have that snaked, which seems like a pretty minor thing to do. I don't know why the location of it is such a holdup for a one-story home.
We had some roof leaks and vents back in our other home because we have two policies, one for a rental home and one for our home that we live in, and they declined coverage on that. We've had six claims and AHS covered three but the repairs that we've done mathematically don't even come close to what we paid into the policy, plus the fees for having people come out. On top of that, with this drain problem most recently, the contractor wouldn't schedule more than three days out. My husband is a major in the Air Force and I'm an attorney, and our schedules are booked out for weeks. He canceled his day, which was a huge undertaking for him and his staff, and then they canceled the day of.
So, it's been things like that that have put a sour taste in our mouth considering we have two policies and we've been with AHS for five years now. We've had some problems more with American Home Shield as a company like the first couple set of claims that we had like getting ahold of someone when we were having trouble with the contractor. To get ahold of somebody at American Home Shield was difficult. Then that seemed to have gotten better, but the contractor seemed to be more difficult to deal with.

I called American Home Shield because the exhaust vent over my stove wasn't working. The gentleman came out, took the exhaust vent all apart and then put it back together and said, “Ms. **, I'm gonna tell you. When you clean this, you gotta be careful with these filters, because what was wrong here, the one filter was pushed in and up just a little bit. That just was stopping the blades from moving. So there's really nothing wrong.”
My dishwasher wasn't working either, so I called that we could get two birds with one stone. It's a big portable and it rolls around. When I turned it on, it made this funny noise. The gentleman said, “Well, may I?” I said, “Well, yeah. You go ahead and you're working on it.” I was not doing that properly, and I got it between the cycles, and that was why it was making noise. So he straightened that out and it was another senior moment. But this man didn't pooh-pooh me because I called him and we had these two things that there wasn't anything wrong with. It was just something that I did. But he was so kind and he explained thoroughly what had happened with the dishwasher and how I should go about using it. That was just wonderful. The burner was acting up on my stove. American Home Shield sent out a good contractor and it was handled. I had my stove replaced. It was the new version of what I had. So it was better. It was a free upgrade. So I had a positive experience. Out of the three years that I've had American Home Shield, that was the only positive experience I had with them. I've had some HVAC issues that were supposed to be covered and the contractors that they sent out were not good. In Baltimore, the compressor is on the roof most of the time. They sent out five different contractors and all of them said, "Well, no. We're not doing this." So I never got the issue fixed. When I had to escalate it, no one called me back. They said they were gonna do something where I could get an outside authorization. All of the HVAC and plumbing contractors that they sent out were bad.
When I first moved in my house, I started hearing some gurgling noise. So I called American Home Shield for a plumber and the guy came in there that was condescending. He told me that I flushed feminine products down. But I didn't. He said that I had a soft clog. He didn't do anything. After he left, I had a backup so serious that I had to call Michael and Son Services, and I had to pay for it out of my pocket. I didn't have a soft clog. I had a broken pipe in the ground. So I had a bad experience with American Home Shield to the point where I was about to cancel.

My most recent service request with American Home Shield was good. The guy came in to fix a rusty bolt that was connected to the pipe, and there were some issues going on with the leak. So, he recommended upgrading. We had a leak prior. It wasn't more than a year or so when we had the same issue. Apparently, he said that particular type of bolt tends to get corroded. So, he recommended getting a plastic version of it because that one won't corrode like the metal one. He showed me the actual broken rusty piece. He said he would make recommendations to American Home Shield. They never called me back, so I'm not sure if that was followed up.
We've used AHS for a few different items. We had a problem with the microwave. We had a stove issue. We've had about four different issues with appliances and then some plumbing issues. We hadn't had any major complaints about service people. They come in, they recommend certain things, or they tell us what to do in terms of maintenance. I would recommend AHS doing more specialty items like a hot tub. We've had issues with our spa in different times. So, if they could get a contractor that could also work with spas, that would be great. The things that we use the most have the most wear and tear, and having a person who can deal with hot tub issues would be great.

I have a claim ongoing for my refrigerator. It started in March. I understood initially was that if you have somebody come out and it can't be repaired after a couple of times, then they replace the equipment. But it went on to have about eight people come out and they kept repairing a part. They would say, “Okay. Well, it has to be on the part of the company.” It was at least four different companies that have come out. At one time, American Home Shield said, “Well, this will be the second opinion, and then once the second opinion comes through, then, we'll replace it.” But then it seemed like it just kept continuing on and on and on, until finally somebody said, ”Look, this doesn't make sense that you keep having people come out and replace these different parts.” Because they kept doing the same thing. I didn't like the way it took entirely too long.
I looked up the first contractor that came out and I told American Home Shield, “Well, they have a low view, so why are you using this contractor?” They said, “Well, we still have to send them out because their contract is under us and this is who is available. And until they do something wrong, then we just have to go by..” I said, “But their average is a 2 out of 5. And everybody on there has complained about this particular company.” So that company came and they were here five minutes and told me that they couldn't repair it. We had to wait another two weeks for somebody to come out. It was another company that seemed to be good.
Then we had one guy who was very rude to my husband and tried to accuse him of saying, “Well, the other guy said, you know, when we got there, that your refrigerator was unplugged,” but it was never unplugged. My husband had a picture of the guy working on it with the refrigerator plugged in. So then he came back and retracted. It was not a pleasant experience.
As far as the communication, you get charged your fee when the first person is supposed to come out. After that, you should not get charged. So one of the times, I got charged another time, and then I had to get reimbursed. Then when Sears started getting involved, they came to the house and told me that it was gonna be $125. So I asked them what it was for. It's not supposed to be charged. That was another non-communication thing. They had to try to straighten that out, and then it happened the last time somebody called, so I had to call, and they had to call, and it was a lot of back and forth in order for them not to end up charging us. But overall, the customer service reps were all very professional in what they were doing because they were all trying to read a script.
I also tried to submit a claim for the air conditioner and American Home Shield said that based on the age of my unit, they could repair a part of it, but they could not replace the Freon. I would have to pay for the Freon, and in order to do that, based on the age of my unit, it was very hard to find, then I would have paid almost $3,000 just for Freon. I might as well get a unit if I'm gonna pay that kind of money for it. Also, they said they could not guarantee that it would stay. It might possibly leak. So it means I would end up having the same problem this season.

We had a water heater fixed through American Home Shield. They replaced it for 100 bucks instead of 2,000. So, it was great. Then just recently, they sent someone out to fix our washing machine. It was giving off a smell like something was burning inside the washing machine. It turned out the rubber around the seal of the washing machine broke, and it was rubbing against the wheel as it was spinning. So, they had to replace that. I always call Home Shield if I have concerns and their customer service has been wonderful. The only thing is when we previously had American Home Shield, we only paid 400. Then this last year, they raised it up another $100.
We greatly appreciate your loyalty to us and thank you again for sharing your experience.

The tank was leaking at the bottom and I submitted a claim online. Garcia Plumbing came out and the tech was a real nice man. He was here on time, he was polite, and he had no complaints on any of the stuff. But it's a hit and miss with American Home Shield. There are some contractors that will diagnose a problem and it may not be the true diagnosis. They would have to come back, re-diagnose it and say, "Oh, we're sorry. It wasn't that." The problem lies with Home Shield reopening the case. Once the contractor submits his report that the problem has been rectified and it's not, I can't reopen that case. I had an AC leak and the tech didn't fix it. I called Home Shield to see if they could send the same guy out here and they said no and that the tech already closed the case. I called the contractor discussing the problem and called Home Shield again. But somehow, they ended up saying the tech gave a wrong diagnosis so they were able to send him out here again. He diagnosed it the right way and fixed it.

I had an oven claim that AHS contracted out to Sears and Sears couldn't get the part. All I got was notifications that parts were back-ordered and that went on for four and a half weeks. Then, when he came to replace the part, it wasn't the part that they said was bad to start with. They thought the motherboard for the stove was bad but that wasn't it. But they fixed it on the same day. The claim went in on February 4th and it didn't get resolved till 1st of April. Other than that, AHS has been pretty much reliable. The only other thing is the service calls went up. It was $65 and now it's $75 and compared to how much I use it, I would think it wouldn't do that. I've used AHS maybe four times. But the last time I used them, they did replace the stove.

I noticed over the winter that the thermostat wasn't working on my heater. Usually, when it reaches a certain temperature, it just goes off on its own and then when the temperature comes back down, it'll maintain the temperature. But it wasn't maintaining the temperature and it was getting colder. I called AHS and the customer service was excellent. It's hit or miss with the contractors, though. This time, Certified Comfort came out and the tech was good. He didn't fix it on the first time because he didn't think anything was wrong with it. But clearly, there was something wrong because the next day it wasn't doing what a heater is supposed to do. I had to call back and it was a little cumbersome. Instead of just being able to call the company, I had to call Home Shield.
Also, it's always been with my heating and air conditioning where the minute the contractor knows that they're here on a call because I have insurance, they're not that happy about it. It's kind of like, “Well, I can do this but you have a limit.” I know there are limits, but just fix my thing and leave my house, please. And American Home Shield is awesome and they offer a free tune-up every year for my air conditioning but the companies in my area refused to come out because there's no money in it. I've never gotten my free air conditioning tune-up. American Home Shield, on their end, are fabulous but the companies that they deal with are not as fabulous.

The most recent claim was concerning our microwave. I called the 800 number and told them what was going on with it. They sent someone out right away and within two days, someone was out checking it. They ordered a part and they told us before they left that if the part doesn't work when they bring it back, they will replace it. They brought the part back, it did not work, and within four days, they brought another microwave up. Their professionalism is very good and I felt that they knew what they were talking about. I was very pleased with it. I would highly recommend AHS because the people that they send out seem to be very professional and it's like a weight lifted off your shoulders. You don't really have to run around and try to find someone. They do that process for you.

My dryer wouldn't work and was not heating. I submitted a claim with AHS and it was very easy. After two days, somebody from Sears showed up and he was very good. He showed me that my dryer had dust in it and he showed how he popped off the front. He said he couldn't clean it for me because that'd be $50. But when he put the front on, he said that was all I got to do. He was really nice and he cleaned up his mess. I like AHS because I worry about things like my heat pump and my refrigerator, so having this insurance is a peace of mind. It's worth the money and it's nice to have it because you don't have to save up for a $7,000 furnace. It really helps where I can just call and get somebody, and I know they will send somebody good out.

I didn't know how to use AHS at first. Their website is not quite user-friendly and it took me a little bit to figure out. I had to call and ask for them to walk me through it because I don't understand it. But once I got the hang of it, it worked really well. They fixed my refrigerator freezer, which would have cost $800, and it only cost me 125. That was super great. The drawer was broken and the tech said it was off of the track. He put it back on the track properly. Also, my Artisan ice was only popping out one or two and then it stopped working all together. We thought the freezer was broken and he said the freezer was never broken and that it was the ice machine itself. He fixed that and replaced it all together. Also, he dealt with my son who comes across really direct and he was very kind to my son.
But AHS wanted to renew my contract and I asked them on a Wednesday to not call me back until Monday because I was going out of town and I was gonna be working. They rep said she wrote it in my file but they called me every single day. On Saturday, I finally yelled at them because I got really tired of having to say the same thing over and over again. That's what irritated me the most. But after that, they were really nice and they gave me a huge discount to renew, which I'm super happy with. And I like the fact that if something does break, I don't have to worry. I can just sit there and call them up and tell them to come check it.

I had a garage door fixed through American Home Shield. It went well, but I didn't realize that they didn't cover the springs that were involved. The door won't come up if you don't have the springs and I figured that anything that made the thing work was part of the warranty, but I see that it isn't. So, I'm not exactly happy about that. It's in the contract that says they don't cover it, but that makes no sense to me. I've had them come out and fix the toilet. It wouldn't flush, and they had to take a part that wasn't attached to the toilet that made the thing work. Yet they cover that, and they don't cover something that it wouldn't go up or down if you don't have the springs, which is the most important part of the door.

Our latest three claims to American Home Shield were horrible. The first one was our furnace that went out in the middle of winter and it took them six months to get it fixed. So, we were in the middle of winter freezing with no furnace. Our washer went out, and we were told they were gonna fix it. It took five months to get the washer fixed. When I was talking with their local vendor here that they've communicated with, they were saying, "Well, we're waiting on one part." I was on the phone with them, I looked it up and said, "That part's available. I could have it tomorrow. Why can't you get it?" They said, "Why don't you order it and then we'll install it." So, I did.
I paid the $100 and expedited the shipping on it. Then American Home Shield came back and said, "Oh, no, you can't do that. You have to use approved vendors and our approved vendors only and blah, blah, blah, blah." So, we had to eat the cost of the part. Also, there was no leeway and no ability to be flexible. Timing is horrible. It takes months and months to get anything fixed. When the furnace went out, I had to go out and buy electric heaters and heat the house on electricity, which is phenomenally more expensive. It would have been cheaper for me to just go outside the home warranty. So, we left Home Shield.

I submitted a claim over the phone to American Home Shield for a leaking toilet. It was very easy. The techs had to come back. They had to get what they needed, and they brought it and fixed it. I had another leaking bathroom, but they were not told to fix it, so I cannot complain about it. I guess it was not written properly. I told them there were two bathrooms and it was only one that was fixed. I cannot claim another one because it's expensive. It's $120 every time.
Overall, I like American Home Shield's efficiency and the timely manner. Everybody is very responsive and people don't put you on hold. They answer the phone calls. They react quickly, and a service is scheduled within a week sometimes, which is satisfactory. What is unsatisfactory is the cost of visits. Even if the issue itself costs maybe $10, it always cost 120. I would tell others to consider AHS as an option but they need to be careful and see all the conditions and go through numbers and see if it's worth it. When I was signing, the cost of the visit was not really openly mentioned.

I'm very unhappy with American Home Shield. They're very slow to what they do. I don't think that they cover what they say they're gonna cover. I was extremely disappointed with the company that came out and with American Home Shield. It takes them two days to send somebody out, and then they have to get approval, and then they have to order equipment. And in Florida, you can't go without AC. They sent Burleson and they were okay. Their reviews are terrible but they came out. They looked but what needed to be fixed wasn't approved, so I didn't use them. I used somebody else because they were much less expensive.
I have American Home Shield on five homes that I have, and I'm probably gonna cancel all my contracts. It takes too long to get anything accomplished. I've used them before for a water heater and for several other things but I don't know if it's worth it for what I'm paying. I was not satisfied with them. I don't think that the service that they provide is adequate for me. If I call a plumber, I want the guy to show up. I don't wanna have to wait three days if I have a problem. One other issue that I have with American Home Shield is that some of the people that answer the phone are very hard to understand.

American Home Shield is terrible. I paid $149 a month. I have paid them for four years. I had bragged on them before and we never had trouble until April. We put in a claim for our central air to be fixed on April 1st. Last Thursday, we got it fixed. It took that long. On the 7th, I put in a claim for a refrigerator. They kept claiming that they couldn't get anybody. They gave me the phone numbers so I called the people. One guy said, “I won't help them. They owe me $1,200.” Yesterday, they offered me to a payout but they said it's gonna be 14 to 21 days before I get my money to be able to get a refrigerator or get it fixed. It would come in the mail. They wouldn't put it automatically in my bank.
When I canceled yesterday, they owed me $33 from paying them my monthly bill. I still haven't received that as of this morning when they said it would be there. They also tried to argue with me on quitting them yesterday. They hired somebody to come and do our central air two years ago. He put the central air in wrong, so it went out again. We requested Noah's Plumbing from them. They came and fixed it. But our conditioner has not been good for two years. I have MS, so my skin crawls if I get sweaty. I don't get answers when I call. I’ve been a customer of American Hime Shield since 1999, but over the past couple of years, their service quality has significantly declined. Here are some of the issues I’ve encountered: Dishonesty and Scams: The company now operates under new management, and their practices are questionable. I’ve faced fraudulent charges and a lack of concern for customers. Customer service call centers are overseas, leading to frustratingly long wait times. Representatives often provide scripted answers and refuse to connect me with supervisors.
Repairmen Problems: When my A/C broke, I paid $100 for a repairman. He damaged my system and AHS claimed it was an “Act of God,” denying warranty coverage. Their repairman quoted repairs from his company for a new compressor was exorbitant ($7,700 per unit), but my personal A/C technician fixed it for $120. A similar situation occurred with my hot water heater, where AHS repairmen wanted extra $1900 for installation. They promised a cash-out but never delivered.
Inefficient Service: Last summer, my A/C went out during scorching Texas heat. Repair appointments were repeatedly canceled. After months of waiting, they allowed me to hire my own technician, but they never reimbursed me. I ended up spending $5,000 on a new system. Plumbing Nightmare: When I had a plumbing issue, their repairman barely inspected it and left within 5 minutes, stating it was not covered since not attached to the house. The leak was from the water bib which was attached to my house, but they refused to cover the repair cost, because repair was not done by their contractor. Creepy A/C Repair: During an A/C repair, the contractor tried to talk to me through my bathroom door. Unprofessional and uncomfortable!
Cancellation Hassles: Trying to cancel has been a nightmare. Calls get bounced around, and cancellations don’t process. Surprisingly, they still have my old address on file despite servicing my new address for a decade. In summary, my experience with American Home Shield has been horrendous. In the last year I have six service calls, paid $1,538.88 in contract fees, an additional $600 in service call cost. I have received one $15.48 part for a repair. I do not recommend using American Honey Shield, you should avoid them completely.

NEVER WASTE YOUR MONEY ON AMERICAN HOME SHIELD. CROOKS is the most polite and accurate way to describe this company that’s a scam. I purchased the most premium American Home Shield policy. My HVAC quit working during the time of my policy. I have had three contractors come on behalf of American Home Shield. 1. The first contractor said the dampers aren’t working. American Home Shield deemed this as a pre-existing condition and denied coverage. I asked for a second opinion from American Home Shield because it was not a pre-existing condition.
2. The second contractor said that the compressor isn’t working and the condenser needs to be relocated. American Home Shield denied coverage because it requires moving the condenser which is not part of the contract. They said this is not part of normal wear and tear. I called the contractor company and they confirmed that it was normal wear and tear. If this was truly the case, American Home Shield should have underwriters and contractors come prior to signing a contract. 3. A third contractor said that the compressor isn’t working due the compressor being “short in winding.” They said this is due to a power surge which is not normal wear and tear. If it was truly short in winding, how did the HVAC last so many years?
I asked for a 2nd and 3rd opinion because IT IS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE CONTRACTOR COMPANY CONFIRMED IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. Three diagnoses from three different companies with the same American Home Shield answer, denied. American Home Shield will find breadcrumbs to deny the claim. They have the audacity to think that I will move forward and pay full non-covered amount through their portal. Spending $1 with American Home Shield is a waste of money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THIS COMPANY THAT IS A COMPLETE SCAM.

The most recent claim was the tune-up service for the HVAC system. It went good. The only thing that I didn't know, and I don't know if this is spelled out somewhere in the contract where I may not have noticed, but they said that it only covers one unit, and if you have a larger home, like most two-story homes have two HVAC units, and they said that the plan that I have comes with the tune-up service once a year. But I didn't see where it said it only applies to one unit if you have two.
The contractor was professional. They communicated well. They told me that in one of the units, there may have been a leak, and they gave me instructions to call back and do a service request so someone could come out, which was weird because if they already identified the problem, I didn't see why I would have to do another service request for someone else to come out and say, “Yeah, there's a leak,” when he already said there was one.
He gave me some vague information about the upgrade program that American Home Shield has on the HVAC units. He told me I could call in, which I saw. I have seen it on the emails where they upgrade programs where if you have an older unit and maybe it's time to replace, you get discounts on the upgrade program. I haven't called them, though because I don't have another $100 yet to pay for another service call, which I thought it was strange, but I'm thinking again about why I have to pay a service fee for this.
Maybe the tune-up is not anything in-depth. It's basic, so if they saw something, they could let me know. But that's just what I'm getting from it. They're not gonna just walk away even though they're there just to do the tune-up, but if you see something, they're not gonna walk away. They let you know, “By the way, while I was doing this, I seen such and such.” So, he said I needed to call and do a service. I understand his position, because that's the only service that they were getting paid to do, so I'm 50-50 on that.
I had American Home Shield 20 years ago when I purchased my first property at 19, and even back then, they were good. I had an older townhouse, and I had it for a few years. I had an issue with my AC unit on that townhouse, and they came out and did the service, but they determined that it needed to be replaced, because it was an older unit, it was a better decision to replace. So, I got that done, and the only thing out-of-pocket that I had to pay was the thermostat, because they didn't cover that. And they didn't cover the permits. That was the reason that I went with them again, because I had a good experience some time ago. But the coverage is better now than it was back then when I had it before.
There are a couple of more things that they offer now, because when I came up on renewal, I upgraded my plan from the one it was before. The offered a minimum coverage on the roof. That's a good coverage to have. Shortly after, I ended up having a tiny roof leak. So, the timing was good. That was my call before this HVAC service. That was good too. It saved me a lot of money out-of-pocket, so I would recommend AHS.

American Home Shield sent someone out to do their complimentary air conditioner tune-up two months ago. The person who came was great. He was very helpful. He was friendly, did what he had to do, and he even addressed my thermostat because it was having little issues, and he answered some questions on that, too. So, he went above and beyond.

I called American Home Shield for my annual AC refresher just to make sure everything is working correctly for our AC. Getting through was fairly easy. I received an email stating, "This is the vendor that would be coming out and servicing your property." I did have one issue with AHS. I had a wine fridge in my home that was going out. When I was on the line, it came on that I could go online and ask for the service. So, I went online to put in the service request. It gives you what type of service, what kind of appliance, and the only option that it gave me was refrigerator. So, I chose refrigerator and they sent somebody out to repair it. I had to pay $132 for someone to come out. He came out and then said, "Oh, yeah, this isn't covered under your maintenance plan."
When I called them, they said, "Well, you chose refrigerator and wine refrigerators are a specialty item." I was like, "Well, I'm sorry, but you didn't have wine refrigerator in your dropdown." So, I got stuck paying that. I ended up contacting the vendor on my own and asking him how much it would cost to do the repair because I needed it fixed. I found out that the parts cannot even be found anymore. So, I lost out money on that.
I believe AHS is a good product but you need to read the details of your contract of what is covered before you call to ask for their assistance. I have the coverage that does the heater check-up once a year and the AC check-up once a year. You don't get a heads-up. You're not told, "Hey, this is time for you to do it." They don't tell you anything like that. When I went to do my heater last year, I missed it by a week. So, they wouldn't cover it. I had to pay out of pocket. When I did the AC this year, I knew then that I have to call it this month and call on this month. When I had called and went to put the appointment in, they said, "Oh, well, you're a week early." I said, "Okay, so schedule my appointment out a week later." "Oh, we can't do that." So, I had to put it on my calendar to call them back a week later to say, "I need you out here." Their processes are not really customer-friendly when it comes to that stuff.

American Home Shield's usual solution is just putting Band-Aids and they never actually fix anything. I've had issues with my AC unit for over two years and they keep on sending people out. This time, they took care of it temporarily and told me to call them back again and make another claim. It lasts a couple of months and then I gotta call again and it's another $120 to get the person to come out to tell me that either it's not covered and I have to pay tons of money out of pocket or they can temporarily fix it.
I wouldn't recommend them. I pay for an annual premium and then I have to pay $120 every time for someone to come out. Then, unless I get a good contractor, those people usually just come in and say the issue is not covered and that it's gonna cost me if I wanna fix it. There are good vendors sometimes, like AAA All Brands. They actually do repairs and make sure it's covered. But every other person that has come out has basically just handed me a ridiculous bill. I had them come for my roof leak and I got a private quote for $1,500. Then, they sent someone out who said it would cost $3,500 and American Home Shield only covers $1,500. If they had sent someone reasonable and honest, I would have been covered in full but I end up having to pay out of pocket a lot of money and then it doesn't really help.

We had the summer AC check through American Home Shield. The technician was very thorough. He was very good. He shared with me some preventative things I can do on my own in between time to keep up the maintenance. As far as AHS, the only thing I have a problem with is their high trade fee. Also, maybe they could try to have it where it's more convenient to the customer, and they don't have to take off work and sit at home and wait so many hours for someone to show up. They don't seem to do late evening appointments, which would be, for me, better, since they don't do the weekends.
On another property I have, I recently called for the same thing for an AC inspection, and when they came out, they found out something was needing to be repaired. So, I had to pay the trade fee for that repair even though they found the problem with the covered AC inspection. Plus I paid for the repair. So, I ended up coming out $625 off of a free summer repair. I had to turn around and call American Home Shield, pay the $100 because that was a trade fee at that time on my other property, and then they had to do a another request and I had to pay for the repair.

I had a small water leak in the kitchen because of an issue with the refrigerator. I ended up making both a homeowners insurance claim and a home warranty claim. The American Home Shield claim was for the refrigerator issue. Overall, I didn't have any issues with American Home Shield with it. It was a little bit annoying because the first contractor they referred me to ended up being mistaken about what to fix or how to fix it. I ended up having to get a different contractor. But I didn't get the impression that was in any way American Home Shield’s fault. They didn't end up charging me extra for the second callout. The first contractor just made a mistake and it wasn't a big deal. Then the second one that ended up resolving the issue in the end, was also relatively pleasant. AHS has been good. Support contact response times have always been prompt. I haven't had any issues with anything on their end as far as I'm concerned.

Topline came out and did a service for the air conditioner for the year. I reached out to American Home Shield by email. We had an email confirming the time and the date. The service was excellent. Everything was very professional and done very well. American Home Shield is a really good company and they stand beside their work and they do a really excellent job and we've been very happy with them.

The young lady who came out for the twice-annual checkup on the air conditioning and heating system was very professional. She knew what she was doing and did it quickly and efficiently. I was very satisfied. I'm gonna be 69 years old so I'm not as savvy as some of the young people nowadays but the app is very easy to use.

They gave us a quick day to come and check out the heating and AC unit, and everything went perfectly. They gave me information about the filters. and said to clean them every couple of months. They were good technicians. Whenever we have a problem, my wife calls American Home Shield and they take care of everything pretty fast.

There was a problem with the air conditioner, and I needed someone to come and take a look at it. My claim experience with American Home Shield was acceptable. The tech was very knowledgeable and very helpful. There was a capacitor that had gone bad in the unit, and he had it swapped out in half an hour.

My AC was serviced recently by Douglas Mechanical. They were professional. No issues were found and everything was in good working condition. However, I've been with American Home Shield since 2018 and I do not like that I'm coming out of pocket for modifications that I'm not being told ahead of time. Our hot water heater was 1,400 and for plumbing, it was 3,500 and these are surprises that I did not like. I'm gonna be looking for another warranty because of that.

I called in for my air conditioner, gave them my contract number, and they made an appointment for somebody to come out and take a look at my units. They screened the units, changed my air conditioner filters and told me there was nothing wrong with the units. I was satisfied with them. American Home Shield's a good product for the things that they do. You can usually get an appointment fairly quickly and people will come out. They use good people as well. I've been able to get all the repairs done when I needed them. However, one time, it took them a long time to find the compressor for my unit. They ended up having to find one in some other city and truck it down here.

We moved into a new house and we had to change the key being the new owner. I didn't have an issue. I just did the service tech call to American Home Shield so they can change the locks and rekey the house for me. SmartLock's tech was a very good and very helpful guy. He did the good work. I was very impressed with him. I just need four locks because we have a smaller house. He gave me four keys. Overall, AHS has good prices and very good reputation. They have the best deal for the year. I went for the platinum plan, which was $840. Their reviews are the best, too. They are the leader in the field.

I love American Home Shield. I had my air conditioning unit serviced and they did a great job. I live in a place where we have homeowners association things and they have rules and regulations. My air conditioner is surrounded by a concrete wall and they had to go on their hands there to get to the part. But they replaced it and filled all the freon up. I had an electrician out here because one of my outlets was not working right. That works fine now. He was a little odd and I felt a little uncomfortable with him, but he knew what he was doing. I called about a plumbing issue, but American Home Shield couldn't get anybody out here for four days. I had to call a friend of mine who is a plumber, and they sent over someone. They did an excellent job and I was very happy with them but I was disappointed with the response I got from American Home Shield. I talked to more machines than I did a person, and that was frustrating.

American Home Shield is cheap. If you're not sure who to use for services and support and would like a resource to go to, it's a good assistance not only with finding service providers, but also with supplementing any expenditures that aren't expected. Air Majesty recently came out and did the pre-summer AC inspection. They called in advance and were early. They said they found something that needed to be repaired and that I could either resubmit it through American Home Shield or go ahead and do it with them there in the moment. The overflow pan on our AC was rusted which was an indicator that we've had a lot of fluid there. They recommended we replace the pan then put in an overflow sensor.
