It’s always has been wonderful dealing with American Home Shield for the many years we've been with them. Recently, we had an issue with our bathroom upstairs, where the tub was clogged and they were very responsive. The contractors who came out had been here previously for a different issue, they were great to work with, and the tub is working perfectly.

American Home Shield sent 95 Appliance Services out to repair the dishwasher and the technician was great. He had to order a part, but he was able to fix it, and it’s been working fine since then.

It's been amazing having American Home Shield. I've been with them for three years and I’ve been very satisfied. The price is fair for the quality of service I’ve gotten. Whenever something happens, I can easily get stuff repaired and they do a great job. My most recent repair was for my microwave. The company that came had been here before and they’ve always been great.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide!

The process of getting someone out for service was quite fast. I sent the request online, then I got an email or text telling me what company was coming out. I called American Home Shield and then called Hers & His plumbing and quickly scheduled the service call. A totally great guy came out, checked out our water heater, and he did some adjustments to the electronics. He noted it might not be a long-term fix because it was old, and that model was no longer made. But we’ve got hot water for now and the equipment's not running cold.

Submitting a claim with American Home Shield was very quick and efficient, and immediately once it was submitted. Within one hour, they gave me a call for the schedule. So far, so good, the air conditioner is looking good now.
The contractor was very detailed when he explained everything, including the condition of my outside unit and the attic unit too. If I may add, the guy was also very funny.
Regarding the price, it would be the best if they could lower it a little bit. Last year I paid less than 20, but this year I have to pay 35. I've already paid double what I was paying before.
Sincerely,
Mariah

Everything was great with Fast Response that was sent out by American Home Shield. My furnace wasn’t working, and they were able to get me in really quick to replace the pilot light box. He initially diagnosed it on Thursday and came out on a Saturday to replace it, and since then everything is working okay.
I’ve had American Home Shield since ‘16. I’ve had Fast Response come out a few times and haven’t had any problems with them. I also had a plumber once come out and everything went good. I haven't had any issues with the vendors.
The only thing is American Home Shield don’t always cover all the things that I feel like they should cover. They try to piece and part things together instead of replacing it.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield and the service we provide!

I filed a claim online with American Home Shield because I had a GFI outlet that went out in the garage. The technician came out and replaced the GFI in the garage. He wanted to know more about what popped the GFI, so I told him that it happened on a particularly rainy day. He wanted to then investigate the backyard and he found the source of the problem. At some point, somebody had rigged up a fountain in the backyard. On that particularly rainy day, it popped the GFI. He was like, “I can basically disconnect this additional wire to prevent this from happening again.” So not only did he solve the problem, he solved the problem from happening again in the future, which I thought was going above and beyond.
I've had American Home Shield since I bought my house in 2018. My experience has been great. They are responsive. If there’s a problem with whoever is sent out, they will send somebody else. I’ve never had a problem. I know there’s a huge discussion about home warranties if it's worth it, and I’ve always been thankful. When my water heater went out, I was very grateful to have it. It’s always important to me and I think every homeowner should have it.

Our furnace and boiler turned off, and we tried hitting the reset button to activate the flame, but that was not working. We called American Home Shield, and A 1st LLC came out to look at the boiler. It ended up not being something that was covered by American Home Shield. The person who came out said there was just a lot of sludge from our tank that had gone through and it needed to be cleaned out. Our furnace was then up and running.
The contractor was phenomenal. He had actually been to my house one other time for something plumbing-wise, and he went above and beyond. He even remembered the work he did at my house just by my address. He went out of his way to call an oil company for me to set up automatic delivery so we wouldn’t have an issue like this again. I have had people that I’ve not been happy with, but never from that company. I have hoped that he would be the same person that gets assigned to any future issues we have.
American Home Shield has been beneficial for us to have. We’ve been protected since we bought our house in December of 2019. We put it as a requirement in our sale because we knew the boiler was old and would need to be replaced at some point. We’ve decided to renew our contracts every year since, and it's been five years. I always say that we have this home warranty coverage and it has helped us in the long run.
The one thing that I don’t like is it does seem that our coverage is going up every year pretty significantly. I think we paid $700 the first year, and now we’re paying close to $1,500. So, it’s kind of doubled in the last five years. I’m not sure if that’s because we utilize it for a good amount of claims or if it’s just the increased price of everything else. But again, we are getting good service, so I try not to complain that much.
In earlier years, my only issue with customer service was that it was difficult to understand them, just whatever accent they had, but more recently, it’s been much easier to speak and understand people. Generally, it does seem like people are pretty responsive and able to answer my questions. And it was very easy submitting the claim online. I really like the easiness of placing a claim. And in more recent years, it’s been much easier to get ahold of someone and ask questions and get answers quickly.

I had a gas pipe that leaked. We didn’t have gas in the house, and we were waiting for about a week. I was waiting for the man to come. Finally, I called the guy, and he told me that American Home Shield didn’t cover it. The company didn’t tell me that, and I was upset. Their prices also keep going up. But I’m okay because they have paid for just about everything except my furnace. They explained that there were some things they didn’t cover in the furnace, so I had to pay a portion of it.

I really do not like American Home Shield at all. We had major problems with them when we had a hot water heater that went and a toilet that was making loud noises. They said we need a specialist to check for mold and it’s free of charge. I told them that the hot water heater issue just happened, that we got up early in the morning and saw a little water coming out the spout, so there can’t be mold. They said they need to send the person out anyway.
The mold specialist was supposed to be here within an hour, but he came later. He said we should go through our insurance company because we have wetness on the wall and it would be $1,500. I told him he was out of his mind. From this little spout, suddenly, mold occurred? That’s not what was happening. Anyway, earlier in the day, the plumber came and looked at my water heater. He replaced the piping up front of it and left. They said they would be back to fix my toilet because they couldn’t fix my toilet that day.
Later, my husband went to take a shower, and the water was totally ice cold. I called back American Home Shield and told them the problem. The same plumbing company that was gonna come back for the toilet was sent out. When they came out, they fixed the toilet and they said the hot water heater had circuit out. The guy said he’ll come back and put a new water heater. By the way, my toilet is still not running right. They came back at least three times for that. When it was past the 30 days, I just cancelled it because I refused to pay another $100.
I found out later that the hot water heater had to be ordered from American Home Shield and there's a modification fee of $585. I refused to pay it since it’s supposed to be in the contract that it includes labor and takeaway. When I called the plumbing company to tell them I won’t pay it, they were laughing in the background. They said they can’t come out unless I pay it. They were not professional at all. I was out of hot water for over a month.
I was really frustrated, so I contacted my agent that I bought the house with. She reached out to Coldwell Banker to tell them I’m having a problem with American Home Shield. Coldwell Banker recommended this plan and paid for the first year of it. In essence, Coldwell Banker represent American Home Shield.
Finally, after fighting with American Home Shield back and forth and being stressed, they gave me a cash offer of $409. It’s just for the replacement, not the installation or removal. My choice was either pay the $585 or take that. I took it and got the money direct deposited into my account within two days. I do not recommend American Home Shield at all. My husband wanted me to cancel them instantly. I told him I’m not canceling until I get that money in my account.

I had a problem with my air conditioner, and I went online to request service from American Home Shield. The company came out and didn’t even look at the problem. The guy just said that the system was old, claiming that there were caps missing and different things going on. He told me he’s gonna get me a price for a new one. He was pretty rude. I had to get another company to get my issue fixed.

My roof was leaking, and the repair man sent out by American Home Shield ended up patching my roof. It didn’t even take a week. He was the owner of the business. He was on time and professional. He even put me in contact with somebody that can help me with my plumbing issue that American Home Shield couldn’t resolve.
I’ve only had one bad experience, and that’s the plumbing issue. The company was saying they're gonna have to dig through my slab and it was close to like $28,000. I asked for a payout, and American Home Shield said they couldn’t help me. I asked if they can refund my service call fee because the company didn’t do anything, and still, American Home Shield didn’t refund me. That was really disheartening. I’m still waiting to get that issue fixed, and I’ve gotten a few quotes between $3,000 to $5,000. Because American Home Shield already deemed that it wasn’t gonna be covered, I can’t request it again.

Overall, it's been a very bad experience for me. I’ve only reached out to American Home Shield over this incident. And seeing that this happened at 3:00 in the morning twice, initially, I tried to reach out to them by email, but that didn’t seem to go anywhere. So, I called, or I might have done both online and by phone, just in desperation to get my furnace fixed.
And then AHS sent two companies out. JS All Tech was able to take care of the issue, but AHS sent out another company prior, which was an extremely inferior company. And I have not had any issues since it was repaired, but getting the repair done was an extremely difficult.
So, the first day of this claim was Sunday, at 3:00 in the morning. I woke up, and our furnace was out. So, I contacted AHS, and I got an automated message saying that they will be contacting me. And then I got another automated service saying that a heating contractor will be getting ahold of me, whose name was Graham something.
It was 15 degrees out while this was happening. Our furnace doesn’t work. We’re using space heaters, the fireplace, and the oven to try to keep warm. And so, we were contacted, saying that they will be contacting us within 24 hours. We were contacted the next day, on Monday, saying that they would be out on Tuesday. So, we had to wait till Tuesday.
And when they came out, they assessed that we needed an electronic part they called a motherboard. They had to order that part. They came back out on Wednesday to fix this problem. And they did get it going temporarily. And then it lasted for about 24 to 36 hours, and it went out again.
So, I contacted American Home Shield again, and I got a message that a different company will be getting out to me. I contacted American Home Shield several times, trying to get somebody out here, because I did not want the Graham company coming out here again. Because they showed up in a AAA battery truck for AAA services for dead batteries, which caught me quite off guard, because I expected a heating and cooling company to show up.
So, the other company that was assigned responded and said they’ll be out the next day, because I guess they have 24 hours from the time you make a claim to get out there. At this point, it was below zero. And then he came out. He assessed the problem. He went and got the part. Within two hours, he was back, and he fixed it. And as of now, it is still working. So, the second company was good. The first company was a joke.
And I can barely understand most of the people I talked to at American Home Shield. At the end, I did have somebody that was good. They stuck with me. They called me back. So, I’d hate to put him in the same boat as the other three people I talked to, who were just going through the motions and reading off a script, and just very little help, if I could understand what they were saying.
Hi Alan, I understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to contact us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can talk more about your experience. Sincerely, Mariah

I’ve had several claims with American Home Shield. The last one that was a major one was with a toilet that blew the wax seal for the fourth or fifth time. And they had to send out another plumber. So, I was at round number 5. The wax seal is what seals your house from the sewage every time you flush. It’s at the very bottom of the toilet.
And if you ever have a problem, it’ll show up as water leaking from the bottom seal of the toilet. And sometimes it’s not so bad, and sometimes it’s like a gush. And we kept having a reoccurring problem because some of the contractors were not fully capable of knowing how to mitigate the problem. And because of that, we had some water damage and smelly basement.
That was last month, and that was the fifth time. So, I was not very nice. I read them the Riot Act. I said, “How many times would you, as a personal person, put up with having your house smelling like poop because somebody didn’t do the job right, and then that bathroom was out of commission?” And that’s not acceptable either because that bathroom is for my special needs daughter. And so, she has to come up the stairs to another floor to get to another bathroom, and it just makes it complicated.
So, something with them and some things just don’t get proper attention, because that was not the first time. We had a similar incident with our washing machine, and that had to be replaced about four or five times as part of a combo. And they kept playing games with us, saying they’ll fix it. And they actually sent GE, and that’s what made it worse. GE would replace the part that was bad, but they wouldn’t call the unit bad. But they would let it work for two to four weeks, and then it would go out, and then we’d have to call them back again, and they have to replace all the innards, and do it all over again. And then it would work for two to four weeks, and then we’d be going to the laundromat again because it would break.
So we went through that with them five times. And finally, I wrote a note since I know the person who’s the CEO now. I sent a note directly to Bill Cobb for American Home Shield. He apparently got the note, sent it to his assistant, said, “You need to call this man to figure out what’s going on.” Because I told him, “I’ve got internal water damage now, and my house is smelling, and I keep getting faulty repairs. Do I need to call Fox News and whatever?” It takes that to get stuff done, and that’s ridiculous.
My challenge is that I’ve heard worse about some of the other companies, because I considered moving to their competition. And they were cheaper and supposedly better. But when I read the reviews from ConsumerAffairs, people said they were better. But then when I talked to the actual plumbers and the folks that did the work, they said that those people don’t pay. They’ll get them the business, but then when it comes time to pay up, they said that American Home Shield is the only one that actually follows through and pays them their money.
So, that makes it hard for a consumer to go with what ConsumerAffairs recommends, but then you find out they’re not paying the ticket, then you get stuck in between and don’t get good service.
I’ve had American Home Shield for six or seven years. I’ve always either had to escalate or fight with them or beat them up to get them to replace something, because they never want to replace anything. And when it takes five times to replace the same kind of problem that’s like a $20 or $40 seal, that’s not speaking very highly of American Home Shield or their contractors. Same thing with the washer and dryer. A washer and dryer commonly costs $1,500 to $1,600 if not over $2,000.
So, when you replace those parts, you’re spending more than what it costs to build a unit. And when they do that five times, you gotta sit there and think, “Why would you do that five times when you could do once, twice, or you may get to three, but you should be replacing it.” It’s almost like there’d be a check and balance, or some type of legal stance to say, “Look. Three is it, and we get to three, we need to replace it.” Because now, they’re wasting my time, their time, everybody else’s time, and they’re wasting money.
And I’m very dissatisfied with their website because I can’t get to a representative. They want you to do it through an automated way, and sometimes, this stuff needs more urgency than automation, and you need someone to talk to. And when calling their customer service, sometimes we get good folks who will walk us through and try to help. But then what happens is you end up with a problem because even though that person was trying to do the right thing, it gets handed to a contractor who doesn’t. So, it makes them look bad. So, I can’t blame that all on them. Sometimes it’s the contractor. I’ve had one that left us in the middle and didn’t finish the job, and we’ve never gotten it solved.
Hi Stephen, understand your frustration and appreciate your feedback. Please feel free to contact us at consumeraffairs@ahs.com so we can talk more about your experience. Sincerely, Mariah

My most recent claim with AHS was a multi-part visit because the original company that they had sent out to me wasn’t even, I think, a real company. It was just some guy that came in. And before he even looked at the garage door opener, he said, “I'll bet it was a power surge,” which is a disqualification. AHS doesn’t cover damage due to power surges. There was no way it was a power surge. Technically, there was just no way the symptoms fit at all.
And I went back and forth with AHS for a while. They kept saying they’re still reviewing my claim. But in fact, they had denied the claim and sent a letter saying that they denied the claim, but under a different company name, Front Door, which is their parent company, so that I wouldn't know it was from AHS. Apparently, they do this. I did some research. And they are notorious for doing this, particularly with the garage door stuff.
But anyway, I caught them a day before my ability to request a second opinion expired, and said, “No. Come on. We've been on the phone a bit.” And they tried to talk me out of it. “You know you're gonna have to pay for another service fee if the next company says this was the same thing.”
AHS was giving me the runaround and stonewalling so that they wouldn't have to pay the claim. And so, when I demanded a second opinion, they sent out Ace’s Garage Door Repair. They came out and they were actually great. They came out and saw the same thing that the first company saw, which was that the garage door opener had stopped working and it stopped sending signal to the motor to open the door.
But then they came and they examined it and said there didn't seem to be any sign of surge. There's no way that could have been a power surge. I'm gonna guess that they did some diagnostics and saw that the control board had failed and said that they just needed to order a new control board. It took about two weeks before they came back with it and to install it.
It's working perfectly now. They did a great job. Ace’s was fantastic. The guy they sent took the time to explain what he was doing and why he thought that. All of his reasoning and what to expect coming up next. Very, very good customer service, the exact opposite of what AHS was providing.
I think my main problem with AHS is that they fight really hard to not actually pay them. And they also communicate really badly and misleadingly about the status of the claim, so then I'll sit and wait instead of requesting a review. So, If you have the money to self-insure, do that instead. Because for the stuff that's in the hundreds of dollars or even thousands, my experience with AHS is that they fight really hard.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield!

When I called AHS for the claim, the washer was continuing to run and I was smelling something burnt that was coming from it, like burnt rubber. And then, the refrigerator, it has an outside panel and the lighting, the digital numbers were not completely showing all of it. So it could be 10, but I only see a 1. So it was something going on with that panel. I could not even tell what the temperature was for my refrigerator or my freezer.
The contractor that came out was very professional. Also explained to me what he thought was going on with it and what needed to be repaired, and explained to me that he had to order parts for both items. And as soon as the parts came in, they would reach out to me to reschedule.
After the repair, everything is functioning fine. The lighting panel on the refrigerator is brighter than it was, so I guess it was just on its way out. With the washer, I haven't had any issues at all.
AHS is a good company for when things break down in the home, and you just never know when it's gonna happen. I'm also going to start utilizing the additional things that they offer was on the website such as a tune-up on my HVAC. They have contractors for that.

American Home Shield’s warranty service is easy to use. I reach out to them through their website. I really like how it’s set up. They send me an email after I put in a request. The water from our shower wasn't getting hot, and the two guys from HM Plumbing figured out what the problem was. They had to order a part, but because of the weather, it was delayed. HM Plumbing was really great about keeping me up to date with when it would be in and when their guys would come back out to fix the issue. The owner saw the ticket and decided to do the repair himself because he thought he knew a better way. I appreciated that he came out. The part they ordered didn't quite fit the way he wanted it to, so he ordered another one, came out, and got it all done. They worked really hard to get it fixed the best way, so it was a great experience with them.

My garbage disposal was leaking, so I called and told American Home Shield. The contractor they sent was excellent. He was very informative, very knowledgeable, very to the point, and gave me lots of tips about garbage disposal use for the future, which I appreciated. He was very good. He removed the old garbage disposal and gave me a new one.
AHS is responsive and I don't have to worry about who I'm going to get to fix an issue. If I would have called a plumber, it would have been so much more, or an electrician. I also had to call for a fuse that went out and I swear that I went out to the fuse box and switched every switch, but he came out and he just did it. And if an electrician would have came out, it would have cost me a whole lot more. They're very easy. They come out pretty promptly, address the issue, give you information. They've just been great.
They just always come out and took care of stuff and I didn't have to worry about an extra cost of anything except when my air conditioning went out and he had to put in Freon. But it wasn't very expensive for the Freon. But yeah, I've had them for a while and it's just peace of mind. I don't have to go looking around for somebody to do the job. It's worth the money that you spend every month to have that peace of mind, and I've been very happy with them.
It brings joy to hear about our customer's service experience! We hope you continue to enjoy AHS and the coverage we provide!

I've had three policies with AHS. Apparently, one policy accidentally lapsed for a week, and so they set me back. But I have owned American Home Shield policy, at least one, since 1996, two since 2002, and three since about 2010, so I pay thousands of dollars to American Home Shield every year. And they have the absolute worst customer service company I've ever worked with in my 68 years of living. They're horrible.
I haven't talked to an AHS agent from in the United States in years. The last time I got to do that was because we were without heat for two and a half months. Two and a half months over one part.
If I didn't own rental properties, I wouldn't have American Home Shield. I wish I'd never bought it, but I'm too deep in now.
One of my rental properties is a resort rental, and the air conditioner went out on tenants who were there for a week during the summer. American Home Shield decided it wouldn’t take the vendor's advice to replace the unit, and said they could get a part from somewhere. They lollygagged for about three days until the tenant moved out, demanded their money back. And then they ended up letting the guy get a brand new one like he suggested in the first place and install it. I lost $2,600 because of American Home Shield.
So, AHS is the absolute worst company ever that I've dealt with in my life when it comes to customer service. If you want to call somebody in the United States, forget it.
I've looked all over American Home Shield's website, and they sure don't want anybody to comment on their site because they know how bad they are. Every time I've ever been able to escalate and to get somebody who could actually do something within a couple of months, that person has apologized and pretty much said, “Yeah. I know what you're talking about. I hear it all the time. It's what everybody says.” And then I see their ads on TV, and they talk about how somebody's there in 24 hour. It's a bunch of crap.
One of the things that I fortunately learned and people need to know is get to know when you have somebody come out to your house for something, like a plumber. If they do a really good job and they're clean, et cetera, then make note of their company and pray that they remain a vendor. And you can ask. I will never order service online again.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for my hot water heater repair, and my interaction with the representative was good.
The contractor was okay, but I was a little upset because they had to come out twice. The first visit was to diagnose the issue and order a part. It took about two weeks for the part to arrive. I was told they would call me to schedule the installation once it came in, but I ended up calling them back to follow up. After I called again, they confirmed the part had arrived and they scheduled the appointment.
Since the repair, it’s been working fine. I did have them come out a second time because I noticed a whistling noise that it had never made before. They checked it and told me it was normal, and that was about it. I still notice the noise though and I’m a little concerned, but for now, I’ll have to wait and see what happens.

I’ve had a good experience with American Home Shield and Ziepke. The technician showed up promptly. I explained that I needed the house rekeyed, and he took care of it quickly. I requested the service online and the turnaround time was about a day. It covers what needs to be covered and makes my life much easier.

I’ve been protected with American Home Shield for over 18 years and I liked it. My washing machine had an issue with the belt, it was all in pieces. I saw that he ordered a motor and a belt, though I wasn’t watching the whole time.
Everything has been good since then, my only complaint is that two different people came, the first time, one guy came and another guy on the second. I’d suggest having the same person start and finish the job for consistency.
He tried everything while I wasn’t there and said it was working fine. When I tested it, I got two errors right away, but then it worked. I was concerned because I wanted to test it myself, put a load in and see how it works before they left, not watch them run water through it. I’ve been keeping an eye on it for a few weeks, and so far it’s been okay.
The only downside is the cost. I started with less than $100, maybe $40–$50, and now it’s over $100 a month. What I dislike most about American Home Shield is that I no longer talk to regular staff. Everything is routed overseas, and it’s very difficult to reach someone when there’s a problem or conflict.
For example, they ordered parts for my washing machine, one came from UPS and the other went in the mailbox. The mailbox part wasn’t acknowledged, so I was repeatedly told it hadn’t arrived. I had to make numerous calls to American Home Shield and Sears to confirm the part was there, but it didn’t get through the system because it came in the mailbox.
It took days to finally get through to them that the part was at my house. They kept telling me it wasn’t and kept rescheduling four times. Each time, I’d get a notice saying they weren’t coming because the parts hadn't arrived, even though I had confirmed it with both parties. The whole process was completely messed up.
It’s a must-have if the people are buying a home and don’t know the area. We moved to North Carolina with no family or local connections, so we didn’t know any reliable appliance people. A service like this is perfect for that situation. We can’t rely on referrals from friends or family. Other than that, everything’s been okay so far.
I’m about 90% happy with the technicians who come out, but only around 65% happy with customer service and issue resolution. It often feels like a big circle of calls. Everyone is polite and thinks the problem is fixed, but things don’t connect properly. Even when I speak with Sears or American Home Shield, it becomes a confusing, messy process.

The refrigerator went out. I noticed water pooling under the fruit and veggie drawers, so I soaked it up with a towel. When it happened again the next day, I called American Home Shield to have someone come out and look at it.
It seemed the thing at the back had frozen, so they ordered a part. The wrong one came in first, but once the right part arrived, the technician came back and installed it. He showed me the frozen area in the back and took care of it.
The contractor was professional, on time, and answered all my questions. He never seemed impatient. He cleaned up after himself, which I appreciated because that doesn’t always happen. He even took the trash with him.
I get tired of how long it takes to get someone to answer the blasted phone, but I don’t know the volume of their calls. It’s nothing I can’t live with, and I wouldn’t call it poor service. They do get back to me quickly.
I’ve only used American Home Shield twice, and I don’t have any complaints. They sent professional servicemen who came out and did the job. I also like that the contractors call and let me know if they’re delayed at the appointment.
We would like to thank you for your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield!

I had a freezer issue where sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t. I called and spoke with the AHS representative, and I had no issue at all with them. I gave them my card information for the service. They sent somebody out, and the guy was on time, courteous, and explained things. He was gonna order parts, but then the whole compressor died and the refrigerator stopped working. AHS said they can either rebuild it or I can get it replaced. The problem is the money that they gave me for the refrigerator doesn’t cover it. My refrigerator has to fit under cabinets. It gonna cost almost double than what they gave me.
I’m happy with AHS. I got them because my sister had them years ago and they replaced her refrigerator when she had a problem with it. That’s what I was thinking about when I got it. I wasn’t thinking about other kinds of issues. My refrigerator actually never required any service in the 20 years I had it. My sister pays a little bit more, and she said maybe that’s the difference with the coverage. I haven’t had to use them before, only for a cooktop a few years back.
Roberta, thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the helpful and expedience of our customer service team, but we’re sorry to learn that the reimbursement you received didn’t meet your expectations. I'm happy to provide the clarity around including multiple appliances under a single service request. This is absolutely something that can be done within your plan agreement. As long as the items are of the same trade (i.e. multiple appliances, or multiple plumbing issues) you can create a single service request and include multiple items within that trade and only 1 service fee would be due. Your feedback is important to us, and we’re committed to making improvements. Sincerely, Marc

Getting the service with American Home Shield was painful. When I set it up on the phone, the lady said that my coverage would start on the 13th or 14th of February. When the 13th came around, I couldn’t use the app. I sent a message to one of the support people, and he just gave me a hard time and was really rude about it. I asked him why I can’t set up a service because it was supposed to have kicked in. He said he couldn’t help me and to check back in a few hours or the next day.
I checked in the morning and, again, after I got off work. I gave them a call, and the guy was really nice about it. He said it just hadn’t gone through yet, and it’d probably be through tomorrow, which was a little annoying. Finally, we got it all situated. It took the tech a week and a half or more to come out. We were out of dryer for a while, so we had to air-dry clothes the old-fashioned way.
The tech was really awesome and quick. He was really nice to my dog. I’m pretty sure he was Russian, so he wasn't fluent in English, but he got enough to get along. It didn’t hinder him from doing his job. He also had a translator right on hand. He fixed it, and I have no complaints about him.

I was getting a second opinion for two reasons: first, to make sure the first technician was good. And two, to confirm whether original assessment was correct and I really needed a new AC unit. I wanted a second write‑up from another company saying that something was wrong so I could go back to the company that had just installed the unit.
I got a second opinion from Floyd Services, and they were full of crap. The technician tried to sell me a $10,000 AC unit to replace one that was less than two years old. It turned out the issue was just a loose wire and some settings that needed to be reset. What he was telling me sounded right at first, until another company explained that it wasn’t correct and there was no reason to replace the unit.
The breaker was also messed up, so I had to replace it. But the main issue was just some wiring that had come undone, probably from vibration or something. I don’t know how it came loose. The other technicians hooked everything back up, and it works fine now. I only had to spend about $15 on a new breaker.
At my old house, there was another situation where an AC technician missed a leak. It wasn’t that he did anything wrong. It was just a very small leak that he missed. The guy said he found it by accident. It didn’t seem like anything dishonest or like he was trying to sell me something.
There are some things American Home Shield doesn’t cover that I think should be covered, but that’s just my personal opinion. The reason they denied the claim at first was because it was missed wiring. If I had installed something myself and did it wrong, I could understand them not wanting to cover that.
But if the work was done by a professional technician, I think it should be covered. And if American Home Shield wants to recoup their money, they should go after the company that did the work. Like I said, if it was done by a licensed professional, I believe it should be covered. That’s just my opinion, though, and I can see the other side of it as well.

It’s actually American Home Shield that I’m frustrated with. He submitted a request for a new washing machine, and we’re just waiting and waiting for American Home Shield to approve it. I’ve got the highest tier of coverage, but I’m really not impressed and I’m not real happy with American Home Shield at this point. I’ve had them for maybe 30 years, and I recently submitted a claim because my pool pump motor was making terrible noises. The contractor accurately diagnosed the situation, and even said that it eventually will fail. Even though the contract says the issue is covered, they declined my claim and told me I have to wait until it actually fails. Rather than waiting until total failure, they could be more proactive. By the time it finally breaks, it would be two weeks just to get a replacement motor and get an installation scheduled, so it’s just going to cause more damage when it fails.

I filed a claim for my washer. It’s a top‑loading washer with a glass lid. When my wife opened it, a little side bracket broke from age and use. We can still use the washer, but when I called to get it fixed, American Home Shield sent out two companies that were subpar.
They use companies that, in my opinion, have no intention of fixing anything. If they use subpar vendors, that tells me they’re not really looking out for their customers. It’s happened to me far too many times for it not to be the norm.
When the warranty sent a vendor, I’d check that vendor's website. I couldn’t leave a review for the last four vendors. Their pages look great, but you’re not allowed to post anything. So, I had to leave my reviews on Yelp because their sites wouldn’t let me.
That raised my suspicion, because if you’re a legit vendor trying to help people, you’re going to have some good reviews and some not‑so‑good ones. But their sites only show glowing comments. Then they come out here and the service is garbage.
Submitting a claim is easy. That part is seamless. The real problem is the vendors they use. I switched to another company that drops any vendor after three bad service reviews. That’s the kind of policy I need.
After all the money I’ve paid the warranty over the years, I should be able to call and speak with someone I can clearly understand. But I can’t understand their customer service agents.
When you try to explain the situation to them, they won’t go off script. They stick to their script no matter what. They repeat every word to the letter. Their service feels very robotic.
I’m now with Choice Home Warranty, and it’s been a much better experience. Their service is better and the pricing is lower. I had an issue with American Home Shield about six months ago when they raised the price.
Either I missed it or I wasn’t notified. When the payment came out of my joint account, I called to ask about it. They told me they raised their prices, and I said I was never notified. Once again, they just stuck to the script.
I was with American Home Shield, on and off, for almost 20 years. When I bought a house in the mid‑90s, they gave me excellent service and took care of what I needed. But over the years, I noticed a downward spiral in their service, their vendors, and their customer care.
I was greatly disappointed, and I ended my contract with American Home Shield. I even wrote a letter to the CEO explaining why I canceled. Have I gotten a response? No. I’m just one person, and he doesn’t care.

It was a little confusing. American Home Shield told me they were arranging for a technician to service the heat pump and gave me the company’s name. When they didn’t show up, I called the company. They said American Home Shield had told them about the issue, but the warranty hadn’t authorized the work.
So I went back to American Home Shield, and they said it should’ve been authorized. I went back and forth two or three times. Finally, it was approved, the technician showed up, and the work got done.
The technician was very good. I’m reasonably technical myself, so we talked through the idea of adding this auto thing and whether it would make me happy with this reset. We agreed on something reasonable, and he did it. It’s been fine ever since. In the end, the technician basically bailed everyone out.
The coverage is pretty limited, with a lot of nitpicky rules. The warranty pushes back over small things, like saying they won’t cover it because I plugged it into the left side of the wall instead of the right. But certain things are covered, and that part is worth it.
American Home Shield’s website is pretty good as long as what you need is straightforward. But if your issue is even a little different, it sends you in a loop. If it’s the same as what everyone else wants, it’s easy.
Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your AHS customer experience.

They came out the very next day and took care of it, and my husband had a good rapport with the service technician. We were satisfied with the work, and it’s been working fine.
The only thing is that the price has gone up over the years. I have issues with the cost because you're paying monthly and then a service call fee on top of that, and those service calls went up too. I’m not really happy about that part, but it is still better than having to pay full price for something.

What I like most about American Home Shield is that if they’re not able to repair an appliance, they’ll replace it for free. That’s what drew me to them and why I’ve been with them for three years. My refrigerator was leaking and it wasn’t producing water, so I submitted a claim. They had good customer service and gave me the name of the company, but I actually had to reach out to the contractors because they didn’t contact me like they should have. It took a week before they came out, but the technician was professional and knowledgeable. He fixed the water sprout and told me something was wrong with the back of the refrigerator, so there were two issues. He left me with some instructions about changing the filter and running a gallon of water before drinking.
The part I didn’t like was when I had a leak in my shower head. They said the issue was behind the wall and I had to do all this other stuff before they would come back. I had to constantly tell them, “I’m not gonna pay you again to come back out” for the same issue. They really need to keep track of that, because I don't feel I should pay twice. But overall, it's worth purchasing.

Somebody in my neighborhood had AHS, and since I’m moving in an older house they said it’s a good idea for me to get a warranty so, they recommended American Home Shield.
Recently, I was having issues with the microwave popping the breaker. Every time we would try to use it, it would pop the breaker for that side of the house. And then finally, it just completely went out I went on the app of American Home Shield and and I put in what the problem was. And they sent somebody out to my house.
That site was easy to use but getting somebody out to the house was a little more difficult, because they told me they'd be there at a certain time, and it was almost an hour and a half after their window before they showed up.
I had to have them come out twice ‘cause one time they had to cancel. I have another claim open for the house. I'm trying to figure out which that contractor was for this claim and which one is for the other. They told me they would be there between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. And then I got a text message from the actual person at 6:03 to let me know they'd be there in 40 minutes. They showed up at around almost 7 o'clock. The guy told me that there was a switch that had went bad. And that's why it was causing it to go out. He was quick, efficient, fixed what he had to fix, and he was on his way. He was fine.
I have a another claim that's open. And apparently, AHS only has one company that handles electrical. And I cannot get them to schedule a time for me to come out, because I get off at 3:30pm, they stop at 4:00pm, and I can't get home until 4:00pm. They don't do any weekend services either. So I asked Home Shield to provide a different person for me to try to schedule to come out because the lady that was on the phone was rude with me. And when I went online to look at their reviews, they had horrible reviews online. And a lot of them had American Home Shield claims in the reviews on Google. They told me to ignore all of the reviews because they do their own vetting on their people. And that's the only one in my area.
I've had to reschedule a few times. They want me to find a day that I can be home at an earlier time but since I am working, I’m trying to schedule it around my work schedule. They told me not to call back until I had a day that I could be home earlier. Now I've got two outlets that won't even come on even when the breaker is turned on.
Every time I've talked to somebody from AHS, they've been really good, other than the fact when I asked them for another person. But they don't have very many options.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

This all started February 4th. We still don't have a refrigerator until now. Sears was the original one dispatched out and they showed up. The guy came in the house and he pulled the refrigerator out. He pulled the front grill off and the back cover off. He said the coils are dirty and they need to be cleaned. Then he left because he said they’re not allowed to do it. I cleaned them but that wasn't the issue.
I called American Home Shield back and they put in another ticket and dispatched Sears out again. Sears had an appointment scheduled on a Monday but they cancelled it the morning of. They said they didn't have any technicians, so they rescheduled it.
On the scheduled day, a Sears truck pulled up in front of my house. By the time I could get out there, the guy had left. Then I got a text saying that the appointment was cancelled and has to be rescheduled because they have not received the part. They haven’t looked into it. How would they know which part they need? We rescheduled and it got cancelled again.
On the next schedule, the guy came out and he looked at it. He replaced the main board and the overload relay for the compressor but that still didn't fix it. There were two other appointments that have been cancelled as well throughout that whole process.
I have to have a refrigerator. I have a mobile food truck and I’m the only one working on it. They only give you a window from 8 AM to 5 PM. So I had to shut down for the whole day. So every single time I had an appointment with Sears, and whether they showed up or got cancelled or rescheduled, I've lost about $3,000 worth of revenue. Plus, I have to eat out every night. So that’s at least another $70 a day of eating out because I have nowhere to store my food.
They wanted me to do another ticket, but they wanted me to pay for another service fee. So I talked to a supervisor. He got me to agree to let Economy Heating and Air come out and look at it. He said he wouldn't charge me for it. And they refunded my original service fee because of all of this.
Economy Heating and Air showed up and they're amazing. The guy was so professional and nice. I told him what was going on. I told him the refrigerator will run and it'll get to the temperature. But then there was no telling how long it would run and then it just shuts off and it will not turn itself back on. You have to turn it completely off, wait for a while, then turn it back on and it'll come on. The compressor gets so hot you could sear a steak on it. And that shouldn't be.
I told him I would turn the knob completely off position and then turn it back on. He figured it was the thermostat and that it would be an easy fix. He submitted the report and we’re still waiting for AHS’s approval on whether they can get the part ordered and replace it.
Sears is horrible. AHS should never use them. They're going to make AHS look bad. Because through all this, I've really been considering cancelling American Home Shield and going with another company. And I've been with them since 2016.

They've been out a couple of times. They worked on the air conditioner once and this plumbing. And those are the only calls I've had.
I had a leak in the sewer pipe and in a copper pipe. I called it in on a Thursday but they didn't come out and fix it until the following Friday. They did good work and it was done but it took forever. I've been mopping up water for a week because there's no way to stop it. I have about a two-thirds basement, and the leak was under the crawl space. It leaked into the basement through a crack in the wall, so the water just kept coming in. After they fixed it, it was fine. And repairman did a good job of fixing it.

Attempted to get service for my refrigerator that stopped working. Was sent to vendors who could not come out to even look at refrigerator for several days. In the meantime I had to worry about food spoilage. Disappointed that there did not appear to be many vendors available to service the appliance in this situation. Could not wait and incurred cost to replace old fridge. My past experience with them on another issue took weeks to resolve. In urgent situations, would be great if they had technicians that could at least diagnose enough to determine if appliance is repairable or needs to be replaced. I could not risk waiting days for someone to come out and possibly additional days on top of that to order parts. Fridge is almost 10 or more years old. Considering changing to another company.

He was fantastic, professional and shared information with me about my about my furnace that I had no idea of–like general safekeeping things that I should be aware of.
I didn't even know there were companies that offered home warranties until my niece told me about it. She also uses AHS and it has been the most amazing experience. I'll never let this go. I will always have a home warranty, and the way things are going, it will also be with AHS forever.
For the cost of what you would pay to get your furnace fixed, the yearly fee where I paid for the services for the year, plus the service fee that you pay once you've join AHS as your home warranty, it's just worth it because I feel like I save money and I know that they have already vetted the company that's gonna come out here and perform the service. It's been a easy experience and very effective. And I don't have to worry about something breaking because it's covered under this warranty–all of my appliances, plumbing and electric.
I pay $130 to Comfort Pros to come out here. If the problem still exists, you can call them because that's what you paid your annual premium for.
I just bought my house in December. I'm recently divorced. When I was married, it didn't matter because my ex-husband could fix all these things. I don't have anybody like that now. But even if you're not single, but your partner is not that handy, it is so incredibly worth it.

My air conditioner was not responding to the thermostat, and it was heated during the coldest part of it. It was 17 degrees here in Texas at the time. So I submitted a claim to AHS online. I just go to the site and enter my info. It’s all very easy and effortless. The online tools are great.
The contractor came when he said he would come. He was professional, and explained the problem and fixed it. So it was really a 5-star experience. My heater has been working fine since the repair.
The price is a little high, and if there was something that made me reconsider going to another home warranty company, it would be the cost. When I started out, the cost was around $35 a month, and I understand because this was 18 years ago. Now it’s $109, and my service charges used to be a lot lower, and now I’m paying $100 for the copay. In a year, that’s $1200 plus many service calls I have.
It’s a considerable expense. That would be the one factor that would sway me. I know that Sears is in the home warranty business now. That would be someplace, because of lifelong experience with Sears, that I would certainly consider if I found I could not afford to pay for American Home Shield any longer.

American Home Shield, I have no qualms about them whatsoever. Reasonable price, easy to submit a claim, and they stand behind the claims, so they’re good people to work with. The heating system and the thermostat did not correspond. The thermostat would be on one thing, but the interior temperature did not match the temperature setting. It took three contractors before they finally got to the real problem. The last contractor checked it, immediately knew what needed to be replaced and he replaced it. It works perfectly fine.

The guy sent out by American Home Shield was wonderful and I was very pleased with the service. He called ahead of time, was polite, took time to explain to me how the refrigerator works, even showed me I needed to run the water for a few minutes to make sure the lines were cleared up. He set up the temperatures for me, which made it really easy because I didn’t have to play around with it, and he showed me how to put the filter in. He was really good.

American Home Shield is a good company. But I wasn’t happy with Legacy Appliance Repair because I was completely out of a stove for two weeks and it cost me a lot of money. They couldn't give me a timeline, they had to wait on parts, and it took forever. It would have been easier to replace my stove.

I’ve had American Home Shield for about a year and a half. I got them after I saw some reviews online and they were recommended. They actually fix things unlike some of the other companies. I had an AC estimate by a contractor, and that was a good experience. He was professional and explained everything to me. Recently, my ice machine went out and the refrigerator wasn't cooling right. The guy came out and put a new motor on the ice machine. He had the motor on his truck. He ordered a vent, and that took about two weeks to come in. American Home Shield covered it.

I had an issue with a washing machine that wasn't draining. It stopped cycling through the wash cycle and wouldn’t drain the waste water to finish the cycle. The technician came out, assessed it, and found out that it needed a new drain pipe thing. He ordered the parts, and that took a few days. Once it came in, he installed it, so it’s been working pretty fine now. The tech was really cool. I asked him questions, and he had no problem answering them. He must have done a lot of repairs before since he knew a lot.
My sister recommended American Home Shield to me, so I got it as soon as I bought my house. She said it helped her out a lot with her appliances. I like that it’s so easy, that I just push a button, and I don't have to make a whole bunch of calls. I’m a disabled veteran, and I’m pretty apprehensive about making a lot of phone calls because I get irritated fast. I’m not so happy with the price because it jumped from 89.99 to 125. But otherwise, American Home Shield has been good for me, and I trust and recommend them.

We purchased a new home and had recently just moved in. We had problems with the furnace where it comes on and the motor is running, but the power light isn't coming on and it only blows cold air. The thermostat wasn’t acting correctly. It was really cold at the time. The guy who came out was very helpful, knowledgeable, and was able to do a good job. Since he repaired it, it’s been working right. My only complaint is that it took a bit too long for American Home Shield to approve a part.

I was on the website to make a claim for my hot water heater, and I saw that preventative maintenance was available. Submitting a claim for my hot water heater was fairly easy. I always wish there were a few more characters for indicating specifically what's going on, because it only allows 25 characters.
Generally, shortly after I make the claim, they send me a text saying which contractor has been assigned and when they'll contact me to make the appointment. The contractors have all been very professional, helpful, and polite. Fo my hot water heater, there was a slow leak on one of the drain pipes, and they replaced the spigot that was leaking. It’s working perfectly now..
AHS offers convenience. If I need something, I can go on the website, and there's a checklist of issues. You can just narrow it down, step by step. Ahs is very handy to have if you need it.

The motor on our furnace went out, so AHS sent a company to repair that. When they came out, they said they wouldn't be able to fix it for approximately two weeks because they wouldn't be able to get the part. And we questioned that because another heating and cooling contact that we had told us that the parts were available right away and that they should be able to do it right away.
And then after some time, the Detroit Heating and Cooling person said, “Oh, yeah. I guess I can do that. Give me an hour to come back and do it.” They came back. They fixed the motor. But whatever they did, they missed a step, because after they fixed it, then our heat would not turn off. So, the thermostat wasn't working to control the temperature. Once the heat is on, it never shut off.
We called a couple of times and left messages to get them to come back out. Once they came back out, the same technician acknowledged, yeah, that there was a wire that they didn't hook up or connect correctly, which is why it wasn't working. So, after the first visit, they came out maybe four days later, ‘cause there was a weekend in there, maybe four days later or so to come out and look at it and fix it again. It's repaired completely now.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield!

I was having issues with my furnace. It was actually working, but I heard this rattling noise in my walls every time the furnace went on. I wasn't sure if it was something with the furnace, so I wanted to make sure that the furnace was okay. The tech sent by AHS checked the furnace, and it actually wasn't the furnace at all. It was just something rattling in the wall that shook. He kind of figured it out for me.
Actually, it just went away. He kinda banged on the wall. For some odd reason, it still did it. But then I just realized it wasn't doing it anymore, so I'm not exactly sure what happened.
They company came to do maintenance on my furnace before, and I'm very happy with them.

I was away in Florida, and when I came home, my outside hose pipe had burst and was spraying everywhere. And water came into my basement, and all through my basement. So, when the technician from Warhold Mechanical came out, he ended up cutting the pipe and soldering it off to cap it. And then he filled the hole in the brick of the house. And everything seems to be working okay since.
I’ve had American Home Shield for two years, since I bought the house. And I had them before at my old house also. And I used Warhold at my old house and had a very, very bad experience, to the point where I had to take it to the Better Business Bureau. And this time, they were fantastic. I had a much better experience. I have no complaints on their end. The technician was nice, thorough, and explained everything.
My only complaint is that, because of the issue, I had to shut off the water to the entire house, and nobody could come out that day, so I had no water to the whole house for two days. And I even contacted Warhold, and they said they couldn’t come out for that next morning. So, that was my only thing because I was stuck.

American Home Shield is good as far as getting things done. I had a claim for my dryer, and Albatross Appliance came out. So, the technician came out because the dryer didn’t stay hot. And it must have gotten hot when he did it, but he had to come back again because my clothes were not getting hot. It was not drying.
And then when he came back and checked it, he saw that it was a default part. He showed me something right there where it looked like it melted. So, he had to order another part, and then came back out and fixed it. And now, it’s working.
And then during that time, I had him check my washer. And so, he came out and checked it, and then ordered a part that he found out was wrong with my cycle, and he fixed it.
So, the technician was very professional. And when I called AHS to let them know what was wrong, it took a little process time because of the weather. But once the technician came, saw what was wrong, and took care of everything, I was relieved. I was satisfied. He was very good at what he does.

American Home Shield didn't repair anything. I paid out of my pocket for another company because I couldn't get ahold of American Home Shield. It's been a terrible experience. I bought this house four months ago. It's not a finished basement, not stormproof, there's no shielding, nothing stopping floodwater or stormwater from getting in, so my basement flooded. I paid Roto-Rooter $3,000 to come extract water out and bring fans, it didn't work. Two days later, it rained again, flooded again. I spent hundreds of dollars on wet vac, that didn't work. I paid $1,200 to get the gutters, it didn't help, and it’s flooded again. I'm $7,000 in a hole, my warranty doesn't do anything, and it’s ridiculous.
I'm calling American Home Shield and I'm talking to foreigners who don’t understand me and I don't understand them. I’m getting cancellation emails from different plumbing companies, and I'm lost with all of that. I'm very dissatisfied with it.

I recently filed a claim with American Home Shield because my garage door wouldn’t open. The belt had fallen off, and I later noticed that one of the springs on the right side was completely snapped. The bolt held it from snapping and exploding in the garage, but it was almost cut in half, and I didn't even know that it happened. I submitted the claim through the app on the website. The process was really easy, and I didn’t run into any issues filing the claim.
After submitting the claim, I received a phone number and a notice saying the contractor would contact me within 48 hours. I later received a text message with the date they would come out to the house. The company that came out seemed more like a smaller, mom-and-pop style operation rather than a large company with a big fleet, but they were very friendly and helpful. When they arrived, they inspected the garage door and said that they would need to order parts. Since my car was stuck inside the garage because the door wouldn’t open safely, they helped open the garage and push my car out while I had it in neutral.
The only downside to the experience was that our claim was open for quite a long time. It was almost 14 days before they came back after saying they needed to order parts. During that time, I hadn’t heard anything, so I ended up emailing Home Shield to ask about the status. They eventually showed up around day 17 to complete the repair. The delay was the only frustrating part of the experience. Overall, I’ve had nothing but good experiences with American Home Shield. I’ve never been blindsided where something I filed a claim for suddenly wasn’t covered due to a technicality. Because of these experiences, I’ve already recommended American Home Shield to others.

Their website was simple and easy to use. I just went in, clicked a couple of buttons, and hit send. I just wish the website was a little more descriptive so I could have better explained specific issues. The contractor who came out was great. I actually called him myself because I got antsy waiting. After describing to him the problem, he gave me information. Not everyone does that when you call them. So, he had me undo a thing to figure out whether the problem was inside or outside the house. After that, we could flush the toilets until he could get to us to fix everything. They were wonderful.
For the most part, American Home Shield is a great company. They hire people who have been amazing at what they do. I’ve had other home warranty companies in the past where the contractors made me cringe when they walked through the door. American Home Shield gives me peace of mind. We have an AC issue that’s ongoing for the last eight months. When we first started, it was a condenser, and now it’s an evaporator coil. It’s an older model unit, and both things seem to be going bad. It cost me probably $1,500 to get it fixed because I had to pay for Freon three times. That’s not covered under American Home Shield’s warranty program.
Over the last eight months, we’ve dealt with three or four different contractors because they kept on wanting to get second opinions. That caused confusion because I got two ACs on the back of my house. The first AC went out, and the second AC went out about a month later. American Home Shield was confusing the AC and what work had been done to both ACs at the same time. We were out of AC for about three months during the summer time last year, so it was not pleasant. But the last contractor was good and knew exactly what to look for because he had been here the last time.

I ordered a service on the furnace. American Home Shield sent a company out of my area, but closer to me who went out there and did not tell us exactly what needed to be done. But American Home Shield denied the claim. Nobody called to communicate. So I called American Home Shield and they kept telling me I needed to call the people. I couldn’t get the original people. They sent Guaranteed out here to service. They couldn't service. Then you went back and hired this company closer to my house who took the money, never could get in touch with them to come and do the work. They then stood in front of my sister’s face and did not tell us about the fence, because the fence was not a problem. But American Home Shield just automatically denied the claim.
I had to fight, cuss, call, and cuss to get somebody to get me somebody out there to fix that furnace. Then when Guaranteed finally got back out there, the house was filling up with the poison that came from the gas. My sister has medical issues and she was in a cold house. American Home Shield kept putting me through and telling me somebody was gonna call me, but they got my money. I had to tell them that I was gonna sue them for every penny I paid them so I could get my furnace fixed.
Guaranteed Services came to my rescue when American Home Shield finally agreed and took care of the furnace. We got a brand-new furnace. But American Home Shield's customer service people were lousy. They didn't hear my needs, but they took my money. Matter of fact, they kept calling me trying to tell me I ain’t paying my bill and you were drafting my account.
American Home Shield needs to be a little bit more compassionate, especially during the wintertime. Their system needs to have an elevation when it's an emergency. With my sister having an illness, they should have taken consideration and not waited another three weeks, and I had to keep calling back. Somebody should have been reaching out. Somebody should have said, “You know what? We see this needs to be elevated, not the normal elevation.” But they didn't do that. They made me wait trying to reach somebody who they couldn't even reach themselves, and kept telling me, “Well, you want to try to reach out.” I told them, “For what? I didn't hire them. Why you didn't send the people you sent the first time?”
American Home Shield sent Guaranteed Service to service the furnace, but then they got this man to fix it, and that was the problem. Then Guaranteed Service had to come back. But they were so nice. They tried to work over their time to get my sister some heat once they came back, and they’re the ones who deserve all the praise. They tried to flip it and rush American Home Shield to get that furnace for them so they could get it done for my sister. I got two houses I got under American Home Shield. So they need to hear from me because they're getting my money. They’re getting over $100 a month.

I took him in there and he walked into the garage and said I had a one-spring garage door system and it was out of code. I said that was how it was when we bought our home and it passed inspections then. He said that wasn't gonna work.
They were supposed to be here between 11:00 and 4:00 and I had an appointment that day. I told him we had somewhere to go. I asked if he'd be able to fix the garage door and he said he didn't know and that we were gonna have to see what they say. He talked to my husband for a minute and he was going on and on about how our garage door was out of code. He said it was supposed to be a new spring system.
We didn't hear anything and I tried calling Winston Doors to see when the spring would be in and if they'd be able to fix it. But they couldn't tell me anything and I had to call like 500 times just to get someone to answer the phone. I called AHS and they said they had not gotten the paperwork to see what needed to be done. Mysteriously, in the next hour, I saw on my online account with American Home Shield that the authorization had been approved and next thing I knew, I received a text message that I had an appointment on a certain day from 11:00 to 4:00.
My husband was at home and was waiting all day but 4:00 rolled around and nobody had shown up. I looked on American Home Shield and pulled up the text message. My appointment had been changed to 12:00 to 6:00. No one called me to change the appointment. I was just supposed to miraculously know this without being notified. We waited and no one came. I called Winston Doors and asked when the tech would be here and the rep said they didn't have me on their schedule. My husband called AHS and they said no one ever confirmed the appointment. But the text message didn't say I needed to text them to confirm.
No one from American Home Shield ever contacted Winston Doors, from what I was told, that I had an appointment. Then, they told me they couldn't make an appointment for a week and a half. I told them I had already been waiting. I waited a week for my original appointment and a week and a half for them to supposedly order the spring. I was not waiting another week and a half because they couldn't communicate and come to my home to fix my garage door. They said someone could be here the next day from 9:00 to 3:00 but I said I was not gonna wait at home for six hours again. After a long time waiting on hold -- and we were on the phone for over an hour and a half -- they said that they would come at 3:00.
My husband and kids were home and the tech showed up at 5:00. I took him to the garage and he asked if I could open another door. I again told this guy that it was locked. There were boards and I preferred not to unlock it. I told him I thought they were coming at 3:00 and he said they don't give specific times. I was trying to tell him what had happened but he just kept cutting me off and told me he was in a hurry. Then, he said he didn't think he could fix my garage door because it's a one-spring system. I told him he should have that on his truck. He was here to fix it. He said he didn't know if it got loaded. I told him I had already been dealing with this for more than two weeks and he was being rude. I told him he could talk with my husband. My husband came out there and he told him that he was in a hurry because he had to get to his next appointment before it got dark. That doesn't mean to be rude to me because you're late and it gets dark in 30 minutes. But he had the spring and he put it on.
But he didn't make my door, so it closed all the way and I had a gap in my garage door. We had to call Winston Doors again like 10 times to get them to answer the phone. They finally answered and the rep said they can't get back out here for a week and a half. I told them they fixed my door improperly and they agreed to come out within two days and the tech adjusted the door.
My husband called American Home Shield and told them it was poor customer service. That was the second time. The last time we had someone come fix our stove, we also had a similar situation. American Home Shield is using companies that are really rude. They don't have good customer service, it takes forever for them to come out here, and they don't submit the paperwork to AHS in a timely manner. We're just waiting forever and that's crazy. My husband spent I don't know how long getting transferred from person to person to person to get someone to hear our complaints about the situation and we're supposed to be getting back the fee that we paid to get the garage door repaired.

I’ve had a horrible experience with American Home Shield. I couldn’t understand the people I spoke to. Today was the first time I spoke to someone I could understand. The last several times I’ve called, it was very difficult to communicate. It’s not about racism, it’s frustrating. If they have a call center for U.S. members, it’s important to make sure they can actually understand people they’re talking to.
Second, I’ve had to call multiple times for the same issue. I reported a problem with my dishwasher, and each time they said it was fixed, but it wasn’t. Since December, I’ve called three times. The last repair was on February 12th, but it still didn’t work. They’re coming again tomorrow.
Another issue I’m having is with my bathroom. I have a broken faucet in a double sink in a house appraised at $1.3 million. I requested a repair, but I was told they would only install a builder-grade faucet around $60 to replace a set that originally cost $300. They said they only cover builder-grade items, regardless of the value of what’s being replaced.
It’s been very disappointing. You can’t replace a $1,000 piece of equipment with a $100 builder-grade item in a custom home appraised at $1.3 million. I’ll never put builder-grade things in my home. When I tried to discuss this, the representatives were hard to understand, rude, and unwilling to address my concerns.
When I purchased my warranty, I was very impressed with the sales, marketing, and service. Over the past year, things have taken a downhill turn. I’m in a battle with AHS right now. I have to pay $400 out of pocket even though I already have a warranty, because they won’t cover what my home deserves. After paying for American Home Shield for about 14 years, it feels pointless to have insurance on my appliance when it’s not being properly covered.

I had my freezer go out, and I called someone else to work on it. They got it where it was getting cold, but it wasn’t freezing. So I called American Home Shield. They sent someone out that said the issue was the compressor. Then they sent someone else out that said it was not the compressor. But they finally found out what it was, and it needed freon. They got it fixed, and it’s been working fine.
The first contractor was nice and pleasant. He gave me his name. It was wonderful. The second one came three times, but I didn’t know his name until the last day. He wasn't very talkative, but he did his job. The only thing I didn’t like was him speaking negatively about the first contractor, and I just don’t believe in bad-mouthing people.
My only complaint was that it took so long for my freezer to get fixed. It was about three weeks because they had to order the part, so it wasn’t anything like they were trying to take a long time. It just ended up being a longer time.
But other than that, it was a great experience. I’ve told different people about AHS, and they're going to check it out. Everybody was very good. They were courteous and polite. There's no cussing and smoking. Sometimes some come in, and I can smell the cigarettes. But there was nothing like that the last time.
When I signed up, I did it online. I put my phone number and sent it. When I was filling out the other part, the phone rang. The lady called about it, and she was very kind. She even gave me a discount, less than the price of what I would have gotten if I had just continued online by myself. That was really great.
The price is wonderful. There’s so much I’ve had to replace. It’s great because we had AHS for a short time, and I’ve already had to use it. I am very pleased with the price, service, and the fact that everything they told me when I was getting this service was the truth. They followed through on what they told me they would do if any of my products broke down.

Mariah

The most recent claim was to fix the oven door that was locked. The first vendor that came out could not get the door open. They had to look for another vendor. It was a GE special vendor. They declined to work on wall ovens. Then, the third vendor, PJ Appliances, came out and fixed the problem.
The initial experience was good. But after they couldn't fix it and I asked them to expedite the next vendor, it took a week for the next vendor to come on board, only to have the next vendor say he couldn't fix it. They didn't expedite the third vendor. So it was about four days for that vendor to get on board. I was not satisfied with the delay. I was without my oven for about three weeks.
The technicians who came out were good. The PJ appliance technician was great. We had a good conversation. They went right to the product and knew what they had to do. They had to call in the supervisor because of the way the door latched. They had to order a part, and they came back two days later with the part and fixed the oven.
The only thing I'm concerned about is when you have an incident that the vendor does not service, the next step should be to expedite it to make sure somebody gets out there in a timely manner. You don't have to wait another week.
Overall American Home Shield has been great. Most of the time, I start my claims through the website and it's been very good. Their customer service is responsive. However their coverage is getting a little pricey. I've been with them for about 15 years and they're about to reach that peak mark where the cost of the plan may not offset just going straight to a vendor.
We appreciate your feedback and hope you continue to enjoy American Home Shield!

American Home Shield sent Plumbing Buddy to fix my toilet, which wasn't flushing correctly. The technician managed to fix the issue, and I've only encountered the problem once since then, so I haven't felt the need to call them again yet. I have been using American Home Shield for nearly two years and the claims process has generally been good, although I am not happy with the price increase from $100 to $125. One significant issue I have is with the warranty period for repairs. My washer had a spinning problem that was addressed three months ago, and now the same issue has occurred. I believe the warranty should last longer than three months because having to pay $125 again for the same problem feels unfair. Originally, when you purchase an appliance, the expectation is for the warranty to cover a longer period.

I have been using American Home Shield for about 11 years now as part of my home warranty service. Recently, I had a plumbing issue that needed fixing—a leak in the garbage disposal and faucet. Unfortunately, I had to pay an additional service fee to Pronto Plumbing, a company sent by American Home Shield, even though it was to correct a mistake made by the first company they used.
Most of the time, my needs have been addressed by American Home Shield, but I have had some issues. I wasn't happy with the garbage disposal and also had a dishwasher repair in the past. The technicians provided weren't great, and the replacement garbage disposal and faucet weren't as good as the original models. While I appreciate the security of having a home warranty, the quality of these replacements has been disappointing, considering it is a service I use only about once a year.
Overall, I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as a 3 out of 5. While I'm generally satisfied with them, I'm not particularly thrilled with the quality of the products or the usefulness considering the cost. The customer service, however, deserves a 5 as they've been polite and effective. The pricing and the online service experience are decent for the most part.

Submitting the claim for my dishwasher that broke was smoother than in past experiences. I had some issues before and I was in the verge of canceling the policy because it took a while for them to respond. But this time, American Home Shield responded quickly, and within three weeks, they had someone come to fix the dishwasher. The contractor who came was courteous and efficiently completed the repair. When I mentioned a related issue upstairs, he took care of that as well without any hassle.
However, I encountered a significant issue when it came to replacing my boiler. The compensation value American Home Shield offered was much lower than the actual cost. They provided only $1,000 for a boiler replacement, whereas purchasing a new one cost around $5,000. This meant I had to pay an additional $6,000 out of pocket. It seems the values they assign to certain items are much lower than their market cost, leading to increased expenses for consumers like me.
While I would still recommend them for certain repairs, the experience highlighted that sometimes their financial support falls short of actual replacements. Overall, I would give American Home Shield a rating of 2 out of 5. Their customer service often seemed unsupportive when help was needed, which affects the overall experience.
The marketing and pricing seemed reasonable—I'd rate them a 4 each for the pushy but effective sales approach and the fairness of the product's price. The online tool was effective, so I'd give it a 4. I once attempted to disconnect my service due to these issues, but the process was cumbersome, leading me to continue despite my reservations.

I have been using American Home Shield for a number of years, ever since I purchased my home. Initially, I found their service quite beneficial. I've had a variety of appliances serviced, like my air conditioner, washer, and refrigerator, with only a minimal service call fee, which used to be $75 but has recently increased to $100. I've had some dealings with them that were awesome. But there were others where I still had to pay a portion. When I got my water heater replaced, I still had to pay out-of-pocket.
I typically make service requests online, which is straightforward. However, the interaction is predominantly impersonal, making it feel more transactional. One downside I’ve experienced is the lack of transparency regarding coverage. For instance, I was surprised to find out that my upright freezer wasn’t covered because it wasn't a refrigerator/freezer combo. This information emerged only after the technician’s visit, resulting in some unnecessary charges and inconvenience.
My dealings with their customer service have been mixed. Some representatives seem uninformed on coverage details and often need to consult supervisors for simple queries, which can be frustrating. The overall customer service experience would rate a 2 out of 5 due to these issues.
Despite these occurrences, I still find the service to be reasonably priced for what’s covered. The website itself is easy to navigate, mainly focusing on service requests, which is quite user-friendly and would also rate a 4 out of 5.
Overall, American Home Shield has provided a decent service, although the quality seems to have fluctuated over the years. I'd give my overall experience a 3 out of 5 as their initial service was excellent, but recent interactions have been less satisfactory.

I had a claim with American Home Shield regarding a pool heater that was not working correctly. When the contractors came to inspect it, they denied my claim. They said it was a commercial heater, which puzzled me since this heater has been a part of my pool since I bought the house in 2009. Consequently, I've been left to handle the repair out of pocket since the company refuses to cover it.
I've been with American Home Shield for about ten years. My previous experiences were satisfactory. They've replaced several items in my house, like an oven, washing machine, and a tankless water heater without any issue. The technician they sent for the heater seemed knowledgeable, identifying the problem as a possible issue with a relay and commenting on the age of the unit. However, they never followed up after informing me that they wouldn't cover the repair.
I am disappointed with the lack of direct contact with their customer service. It's frustrating not being able to speak to someone directly or having a proper channel to dispute the claim. Despite my past satisfaction, this experience has left me very dissatisfied with American Home Shield.

I've had American Home Shield for about 9 to 10 years, ever since I moved into my house. My experience with them has been mostly positive. Recently, they sent someone out for plumbing issues with my sink, garbage disposal, and sprayer. The contractor was excellent and did all that was expected of him. Typically, the claim process takes only a few days, though at times, I've had to wait for parts.
There was a negative experience last year when communication was poor. My hot water tank was leaking during the summer, and I had to go to the gym for showers. The company frequently changed their appointment times, which was incredibly frustrating as I had to take time off work. They once tried to schedule a repair late at night, which I declined because I live alone with my daughter. It would have been easier if they just informed me about delays.
Apart from that incident, the vendors they usually send out are good. I prefer to use those who are familiar with my home, like those who originally installed my systems. Even though I've had some pricing disputes with American Home Shield in the past, I believe they are one of the best companies, which is why I continue to use them. Overall, I would rate my experience as a 4 out of 5.

May Heating & Air came out for my furnace that wasn't heating properly, leaving my house quite chilly. I found the claims submission process much easier this time than in the past.
The technician from May Heating seemed more knowledgeable than previous ones. I’ve had issues with technicians not being able to fit into tight spaces like under the house or in the attic, but this guy was more competent. However, there was an issue with the unit's power supply, which led to a frustrating back-and-forth between the HVAC and electrical guys. They wouldn't address the electrical issue, which left me stuck. Eventually, they just added some freon, claiming it would fix the heating, though I remembered being told before that repeatedly adding freon signified a leak.
Rating American Home Shield, I'd say a 3 or 4 out of 5. They've improved over time, but they're still not as exceptional as my experience with Old Republic. What I appreciate about American Home Shield is the ease of making claims online. However, sometimes there are language barriers when calling customer service, which can be challenging.
If I were to recommend American Home Shield to friends or family, I'd say they're not bad. They offer competitive deals and are one of the companies I'd suggest, alongside Old Republic.
Overall, while the renewal rate increased, which they explained was due to rising costs, I decided to give them another chance. Though I hope costs stabilize, I'm optimistic about the service standard improving.

American Home Shield handled a plumbing issue for me. Initially, the process had its ups and downs, especially in terms of the contractor lineup. It felt like they don't always choose the top-rated contractors, but instead, those who are more familiar with the fine print, which can lead to initial job rejections.
The first contractor they sent claimed that parts were missing and couldn't complete the job, which I found inaccurate. Fortunately, after I refused to pay more, they sent a second contractor who managed to fix everything that the first one couldn't. That resolved the issue, and the appliance has been working fine since the repair.
While I appreciate having this kind of insurance because it's tough finding reliable contractors across the US, there were pricing concerns. Even though they advertise plans in the range of $45-$50, my plan has unexpectedly increased to over $80. I might have to cancel and re-sign to get a better rate. While it involves a 30-day waiting period, I can wait 30 days to get the lower price.
Overall, I'd say the service is decent and cost-effective compared to other limited options, and I would recommend it. However, their approach to pricing and contractor selection could use some improvement.
Hello Muhammad, and thank you for the review. I apologize for the issues you encountered with the first contractor who was assigned. I'm glad that our next vendor was able to resolve the situation.
I do understand your concerns regarding pricing; in this current inflationary period, cost-efficiency is on most of our minds. AHS is working to maintain the lowest possible cost to our homeowners for even the most expensive repairs. We appreciate your business, and this is one of the ways that we show that.
I hope that you will continue to make use of our warranty in the future.

I had an unsatisfactory experience with American Home Shield. After remodeling my kitchen a few years ago, I encountered a leak under the sink, which caused damage to my floor and cabinets. Despite having a policy with American Home Shield, the service process was frustrating and inadequate.
When I submitted a claim online, it cost me $125, with the expectation that a plumber would address the issues. However, scheduling the appointment took almost three weeks due to rescheduling, and communication with the plumber was lacking. Once the plumber finally visited, the service cost unexpectedly amounted to nearly $500 for issues that American Home Shield wouldn't cover, citing improper installation during my initial remodel.
Despite requesting email communication about a possible payout, as of yet, I haven't received any follow-up. While their online tools and customer service were satisfactory, I am disappointed with the coverage provided and ultimately plan to cancel my policy. Overall, I found the coverage to be unsatisfactory, even though I had initially signed up based on positive recommendations from friends.

I had a clogged sink stopper that needed fixing. Whenever I've tried using American Home Shield's online system, it fails and directs me through unnecessarily complicated steps. So, I've had to resort to calling their customer service. Though I would prefer not to, the representatives I've interacted with are usually pretty good. They note down the issue and within the stated timeframe, I can expect a call to schedule an appointment. A1 Plumbing came out as planned, and I have had no issues since. However, I am expecting another service visit soon for a different appliance - my dishwasher.
I'd rate my experience with A1 Plumbing and American Home Shield as a 4 out of 5. Their customer service is courteous and gets the job done. For the costs associated with their service, I'd also give them a 4 out of 5. My biggest gripe is with their website - it doesn't function for me. My past experiences with American Home Shield have been mixed. The first time I needed service was for my refrigerator, which took about three weeks to repair. Unfortunately, it only lasted a month before I had to contact them again and pay once more. The second repair was faster, taking about 10 days, and the refrigerator is now functioning properly.

My experience with American Home Shield has been a mixed bag. Recently, we had a leak in our washing machine, and they were able to send a contractor in a timely fashion to replace a pump and a hose. We live in a rural area, so finding a contractor quickly was a pleasant surprise, and they did a very good job once they arrived.
However, the process of submitting a claim is frustrating. The customer service representatives are difficult to understand, possibly due to reading from scripts and being from another country, which happens every time I call. It often takes too long to find a contractor as well. Despite these challenges, my past interactions with the technicians have been positive – they are competent and perform the necessary repairs.
While the coverage provided by American Home Shield is satisfactory, at times it feels overpriced for the service level. The online tools have not impressed me either. I recently had Elite Electric Solutions come out through American Home Shield because there was an issue with the electrical system; a line was off. They resolved it quickly within five minutes, and since then, everything has been working fine. I initially set up the service online with American Home Shield. I found the process efficient, as they were prompt with the service. However, I had questions about potential charges if I needed service for different issues at the same time, like kitchen versus electrical problems, but it seems they charge once per claim, which I found satisfactory.
My overall experience with American Home Shield has been positive, though the first time I needed them for an air conditioning issue, it was rather challenging. It took three attempts from the mechanic to fix it, leaving the air conditioning system off for 2 days, which was inconvenient. Because of this, I'd rate the air conditioning service as three stars. On the other hand, the electrical issue was resolved promptly, and I'd give it five stars for that. In general, I'm satisfied with the service, especially since they handle things on time, and I would recommend them to a friend.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield for roughly three to four years. Recently, I placed a claim due to a slight leak beneath my bathroom faucet's valve, which required attention. The service technician sent out by American Home Shield only managed to replace the valve and handle to address the leak but did not change the faucet as needed. The technician cited water pressure from the street as a reason, which I found confusing, since other faucets in my home do not have this issue. I've used the existing faucet for months by manually turning the hot water valve on and off, likely leading to this leak.
Disappointingly, they refused to replace the faucet despite it being covered in the contract. My dissatisfaction extended to the technician leaving a bag of trash in my driveway, which was unrelated to my job, and there was no follow-up after I reported his rude behavior. Though I requested a different contractor to address the incomplete job, no one else was sent. On one occasion, they had to send another technician to finish the plumbing work previously attempted by someone else. Given these experiences, if improvements aren't made soon, I may consider another company. The cost of the service, which is about $1,200 a year plus $100 per call, warrants reliable service and attentive follow-ups.

My recent experience with American Home Shield has been frustrating and unsatisfactory. I filed a claim for a double oven replacement, and despite following the necessary procedures, I'm currently in a disagreement with the company over the reimbursement amount. I found their customer service lacking, as they hung up on me multiple times when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the compensation offered, which is not enough to replace the appliance.
Submitting the claim wasn't straightforward. They initially sent a contractor to assess the situation, but I had to request a second opinion, as I frequently do, due to their initial reluctance to cover replacement costs. This incurs an additional $125 for each assessment. Although the contractors acted professionally, the final resolution wasn't favorable to me. The company deducted $703 to cover the service calls, making it impossible for me to replace the appliance with the cash received. American Home Shield's customer service needs significant improvement. Hanging up on customers who challenge their decisions is unprofessional. I'm paying them monthly for reliability in times of need, yet they seem to evade their responsibilities.

American Home Shield sent American Comfort for the furnace. They're very good. I've had them before, and when they say they're gonna be there, they're gonna be there. As far as the repair, so far, so good. I've had American Home Shield for a long time and I have no intention of changing. I'm satisfied with my plan. It covers a lot of stuff. I'm happy with the service.

I have been a customer of American Home Shield on and off for nearly 20 years. My experiences have varied over the years. Recently, I had an issue with Chesapeake Appliance and Repair. They were supposed to order parts for my microwave and didn't follow through. When they came back, they only installed a light bulb and the issue persisted with noise from the fan. They then asked for another claim for a separate issue, and I was unhappy with the continued deductible charges.
Despite these frustrations, I appreciate the coverage American Home Shield offers. They cover appliances and systems, offering peace of mind with the payment of a deductible. However, the reliability of the contractors they send out is sometimes inconsistent, and the rising monthly fees, which started at $55 and are now over $100 for some policies, are concerning.
The service does offer good coverage when claims are approved, and they often help offset costs for larger replacements, like my heating system. However, there have been occasions where claims are denied over small technicalities, which is frustrating. The customer service is decent, and overall, I would rate American Home Shield a 3 out of 5 for coverage and customer service. The increase in pricing is significant, and I would rate it 2 out of 5.

My experience with American Home Shield has been quite positive. We had an issue with our dishwasher where water was leaking at the bottom. When the technician came, he discovered that the dishwasher was not installed correctly initially, although it was someone else's installation, not by American Home Shield. The dishwasher was unlevel, causing the leak. The technician fixed this during his first visit and also identified that the wrong brackets were used. Though the correct brackets were eventually found, they couldn't be installed as intended. The technician worked diligently to secure the dishwasher with the existing brackets in a way that met our needs. We were very happy with his efforts, although the time it took to get the parts was long enough that he forgot the reason for his return call. Despite this, everything was resolved, and the dishwasher works perfectly now.
Additionally, my husband had a mishap involving the dishwasher, and thankfully, it held up well. We've had to utilize American Home Shield's services for other issues, such as our furnace, which we felt might have shortcuts due to the way our townhouse was built. Each time, they've responded promptly, which has been reassuring. Overall, we're satisfied with American Home Shield as they've helped us rectify various issues. Although we are new to using such a service since moving from rural Iowa, the fees seem reasonable because we only had to pay once for an issue like the dishwasher, even if the technician returned. We've filed claims both by calling and online, and both methods have worked well for us.
We're happy with American Home Shield and would feel comfortable rating them positively based on our experiences.

I recently had an issue with my washing machine and contacted American Home Shield for assistance. I usually file my service requests over the phone through an automated system. After I filed the request, it took a couple of days for a contractor to be sent to my home. The contractor was very helpful and knowledgeable and took about half an hour to diagnose the issue. Unfortunately, they couldn't fix it on the first visit, and we had to get the machine replaced.
American Home Shield provided us with a list of replacement options, and we could choose the one we wanted. Depending on our choice, we could contribute additional money towards the new machine. The replacement was supposed to arrive on a Wednesday but eventually came on a Friday, so it took about a week in total. The new washing machine has been perfect since it arrived, and I've had no more issues with it. While they were helpful, I find the service expensive. I prefer to remain anonymous in sharing this review.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield and my experience was quite positive. The issue was with a leaking expansion tank related to my furnace heating system. I submitted the claim online, and the process was straightforward and user-friendly. American Home Shield responded promptly with an email stating that WarHold Mechanicals LLC would be in touch, and they did contact me directly.
When WarHold Mechanicals LLC arrived, they assessed the situation, explained the issue, and began working. They determined the necessary parts needed to be ordered, which took about 3-4 days to arrive. Once the parts were in, they returned and completed the repair. Currently, everything is operating smoothly, although I'm in need of a new thermostat, which is unrelated to the initial issue.
I've been with American Home Shield for over two years, thanks to recommendations from my brother and real estate agent. I'm very satisfied with the service. The process is simple; if I have an issue, I can email or call, and if it is covered, I just pay the deductible and they send someone to resolve it. It's really hassle-free, and they don't bombard you with unnecessary questions.
Overall, I'd rate my experience with American Home Shield as excellent, as it provides a straightforward solution for home warranty needs.

The furnace unit was malfunctioning; it would work intermittently. When the technician from AirMax first came out, they ran some tests, and it seemed to be working fine, so they couldn't find anything wrong. But the problem persisted after a few days, so a different technician came back. This time, they identified an issue with air intake related to a plate or sensor.
The technician could not repair it on the first visit because they needed to order parts. I initially waited about four days and ended up calling Air Max myself to follow up on the part order. It turned out there had been a delay because American Home Shield needed to approve the order, which hadn't been done. Once I gave the go-ahead, the parts arrived in a couple of days. As for the technicians who were sent out, they were very professional and polite. However, I did have a previous issue with a different technician when dealing with an AC unit, and I requested not to have that person come out again.

I had a claim for my washing machine. The issue was that the tub wasn't spinning during the spin cycle. I submitted the claim through their website, which was straightforward and easy to navigate. After submitting, I was contacted the next day by the dispatcher to schedule the appointment.
The contractor from Assist Services TNINC arrived on time and was very professional. Although he didn't explain the repair process in detail, he identified that the clutch needed replacement. The part had to be ordered, but he returned within a couple of days, as promised, to complete the repair. Now, even though my washer is an older model, it's working fine.
I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as highly satisfactory. This was my second claim with them, and both experiences were smooth, with prompt and professional service. For the first claim, involving a dishwasher, the process was similarly efficient, with the repairs completed in a timely manner.
Overall, I would recommend American Home Shield to friends and family for their reliable service.

I recently had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield and their contractor, Patio Pools. The ongoing issue began when there was a problem with the pool filter. Patio Pools came out and diagnosed the issue, but after supposedly making repairs, a leak appeared. Despite my concerns, they insisted it was a coincidence.
The situation worsened when we had freezing temperatures, and Patio Pools neglected to secure the leak, risking damage to underground pipes. This oversight was alarming, especially since I'm located in a high desert area that can get quite cold.
Throughout this ordeal, American Home Shield has been supportive by ensuring I only pay the deductible. However, Patio Pools sent me invoices totaling around $2,900, which I was not responsible for due to the coverage. It’s concerning because I believe there might be others who have wrongly paid these invoices, suggesting a potential pattern of deceptive billing practices.
Patio Pools’ service quality has been lacking. There was still debris entering my pool even after they said the filter was fixed. They took pictures at my request to document the situation, which revealed plastic inside the filter, something my pool maintenance person confirmed should not be there. This raised doubts about Patio Pools’ competence, especially since they are the ones who originally built the pool.
American Home Shield handled my inquiries efficiently and reassured me that they have taken note of the billing issue. They promised to flag Patio Pools in their system, preventing future assignments of this vendor to my property.
This experience has been drawn out since November, characterized by numerous delays and unprofessional behavior from Patio Pools, including missed appointments and a lack of transparency. I was informed that American Home Shield may not use Patio Pools again, and I was advised to recommend a preferred contractor should future issues arise.
Overall, American Home Shield’s support has been commendable, but the challenge lies with Patio Pools’ poor service and potential fraudulent billing practices. I hope American Home Shield investigates this further for the benefit of all their customers.

I've been with American Home Shield for over 10 years, ever since we bought our house. One of the things I appreciate about American Home Shield is how promptly they handle payments and dispatch service technicians. For instance, during a recent freeze when our heater stopped working, they sent someone immediately. The experience with Blue Sky Heating, who handled our heating, was positive. Additionally, another company dealt with our air conditioning issue quickly as well.
The technicians were professional and respectful. After some issues were initially identified by an inspector, such as exposed wires that should have been covered, they returned promptly to rectify these problems. Now everything is working perfectly.
Overall, I've never had a problem with American Home Shield. Although the cost tends to rise, the security and peace of mind it offers during emergencies are invaluable. I'd never consider getting rid of it.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield involving a claim for a furnace cleaning. During the process, the contractor discovered a gas leak, which was caused by a loose screw. The claim submission went smoothly; the repair technician contacted American Home Shield, explained the issue, took a photo, and mentioned the claim deduction of $125. The repair was quickly taken care of, and I appreciated the courteous service from the contractor. My units functioned well afterward, except for a thermostat issue due to an unclosed furnace door, which was resolved.
This is my first year with American Home Shield, and my overall experience has been great. The customer service is friendly and there's been some confusion due to having two units with similar coverage, but it was handled well. I've also dealt with a refrigerator claim previously, which also went smoothly.
In terms of customer service, coverage, and the sales process, I would rate everything a 5. Although I felt slightly overwhelmed by the marketing, the service I received was excellent. Additionally, the pricing was fair, offering comparable options to what I had for my refrigerator, and I had the freedom to choose where to make the purchase. As for the online tools, while I haven’t used them recently, my previous experience would rate them as a 5 too. Overall, I have been very pleased with my experience with American Home Shield.

I sent in a claim experience with American Home Shield concerning my non-working dryer. Initially, the process went smoothly as they responded within a few days. Eventually, they replaced my dryer, and I was delighted with the replacement process. The new machine is functioning fantastically and is of excellent quality. I expected a cheaper model, but they offered several choices, making me very impressed with the quality I received.
I also had a separate issue with plumbing, where they sent three people to address the problem. Although there was some uncertainty because it was underground, they managed to resolve it satisfactorily.
Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been positive, and I would definitely recommend their services.

I've been a customer of American Home Shield since 1984, and my overall experience has been quite positive. Recently, I had a claim where they sent someone promptly, and the person was both personable and professional. They were able to address and complete the repairs the same day, which was very convenient.
Though I usually set up calls through their automated service, the turnaround for the service was quick—usually within a day or two. I value this efficiency, and as a result, I often recommend American Home Shield to others.
However, there was one instance around two years ago regarding my water heater where the situation was quite urgent. The experience was less than satisfactory mainly due to a challenging communication process, possibly because the support center was located overseas.
Despite this, I would still rate my overall experience with American Home Shield highly, giving them a solid 5 stars because I have frequently recommended them. However, my only concern is the increased pricing and copays, which have noticeably risen over time, affecting my rating of their pricing to about 4 stars. Overall, I appreciate their service and efficiency.

I recently had an experience with American Home Shield which left me with mixed feelings. A plumber from Honest Plumber INC, sent by American Home Shield, was quite unprofessional and alarmed my tenant with exaggerated claims about the plumbing and the need for a complete rework. When I expressed my dissatisfaction and requested not to have that technician return, I was told by the company that they might discontinue services at my property, which was quite frustrating.
Despite this, previous claims have generally been handled well. The process of calling in a claim is straightforward, but the response time can be a problem. For instance, when our only bathroom was out of service, they took too long to address the issue, which is quite inconvenient when there's no alternative.
Though I've mostly had good experiences otherwise, this particular incident stands out. I would rate American Home Shield a 3 out of 5 due to the slow emergency response and the issue with the plumber.
Overall, I have recommended American Home Shield to family members, and some have taken up the service. I appreciate having a service that can quickly connect me with contractors since I'm not familiar with local plumbers or handymen myself. However, I also had a case where I had to pay $5,000 out of pocket for a new air conditioning system, while a friend of mine, a fellow recommender, had a similar installation for less, raising questions about pricing.
In terms of customer service, I would rate it a 3 out of 5 because communication can sometimes be difficult. For the price and coverage, I feel it's a mixed bag, warranting a 4 for price. This reflects the fluctuation in cost-sharing based on the service provider they connect with.

In the past, I have often encountered additional charges above the standard $125 deductible, which usually end up doubling that cost. As a homeowner with a warranty through American Home Shield, I recently contacted them to address a non-functioning spigot and a toilet issue in my home. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. From the start, customer service was poor, and despite the initial claim being made nearly a month ago, the spigot is still not repaired, and the toilet was fixed incorrectly.
The first plumber they sent was unprofessional; he installed an incorrect water supply line and, when I pointed out the mistake based on my experience in real estate, he responded rudely and left abruptly. This kind of service is simply unacceptable. To make matters worse, this same plumber had issues two years prior with a similar repair, which resulted in the rejection of the claim back then as well.
While the representatives from American Home Shield are polite and apologetic, their apologies come with no resolution. The entire situation has been incredibly frustrating, especially when I consider the cost of $700 annually for their services and the increased service fees. After this experience, I am seriously considering canceling my policy once the current issues are hopefully resolved in another week.
I felt it necessary to share my experience because the frustration and lack of service from both American Home Shield and their assigned plumbing company have caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience. This experience has also affected my ability to recommend American Home Shield to my real estate clients, as both my clients and I have faced similar negative experiences.

I recently submitted a claim with American Home Shield because my hot water heater was leaking. I used their online system, which was fairly easy to navigate. Before Gateway Plumbing LLC came out, I received a text to schedule the appointment, and that was the extent of the information provided.
When Gateway Plumbing arrived, I found the technicians to be nice, but unfortunately, the hot water heater is still not fixed. I haven't been informed yet whether it will be repaired or replaced.
I've been with American Home Shield on and off since about 1999, often due to our moving as part of military life. While generally we've had good experiences in the various homes we've insured, there have been issues, such as when I couldn't get service for my stove and dishwasher three years ago, leading me to just buy new ones. Despite this, I generally find the service beneficial, particularly for people who can't afford to replace items outright. Overall, I would rate my experience with American Home Shield as excellent and would recommend them to friends, especially for new homeowners. However, I'd advise potential customers to consider that while the service fee may be more manageable than replacing appliances, service availability can vary based on location.

The initial technician thought the issue was fixed after adjusting the thermostat, but it wasn’t. However, they promptly sent another technician named Michael, who was great. He quickly diagnosed the problem and ordered the necessary parts, which were installed within two to three days. This efficiency was impressive, especially since my previous service provider took two weeks to respond to similar issues.
Submitting the claim was straightforward. I prefer calling them directly, and they were quick to process my information and provide follow-up details via email. The contractor they sent was excellent, offering additional maintenance suggestions that proved helpful.

They said this information was necessary to ensure they had the right parts when the technician arrived so I had to look for the model number. However, when the technician came, he asked me to move the stove myself and after inspecting it, he mentioned that a part had to be ordered and left without much communication.

I had a mixed experience with American Home Shield. I initially contacted them for a plumbing issue involving a clogged pipe. The first contractor they sent, FAHR Home Solutions, didn't have the necessary equipment to fix the problem completely, as their router was only 25 feet long. American Home Shield then identified a second contractor, Showers Plumbing, who had the appropriate tools and expertise to resolve the issue. While the second contractor was excellent, the delay in finding them was frustrating, taking about 2.5 weeks overall. The technicians themselves were professional and courteous. My main concern was the time it took for American Home Shield to locate a suitable contractor. During the delay, I was inconvenienced as the clogged pipe affected my laundry room, kitchen, and bathroom, preventing me from using them.
On a positive note, I previously experienced a very efficient service from American Home Shield when dealing with an air conditioning issue. The swift response and effective resolution made that situation much easier to handle. The contrast between these two experiences highlighted the variability in service response depending on the type of issue. Overall, I understand the nature of home warranties, but the time taken to resolve the plumbing issue was lengthy and frustrating. Despite this, I acknowledge the satisfactory resolution once the right contractor was found.

I recently had a mixed experience with American Home Shield. I had a claim for my furnace, and the contractor they sent was knowledgeable and courteous. They had to come out twice as the initial diagnosis wasn’t correct, but eventually, the problem was fixed, and the furnace has been working fine since then.
However, my first experience with American Home Shield was less satisfactory. I had issues with some valves, and the plumber they sent was unprofessional, both in appearance and service. He opted to spray WD-40 on the valves instead of replacing them, which didn’t resolve the issue.
Despite the initial hiccup, subsequent experiences improved. A different contractor successfully addressed problems with my refrigerator, and the furnace repair team was persistent in resolving the issue.
One aspect that stood out as challenging was the dual-company structure American Home Shield operates under. It was confusing to deal with two different entities, making the process complicated and unclear at times. Additionally, I found their online tools difficult to use and preferred speaking to someone directly.
Overall, while my experiences with the contractors were varied, the warranty coverage itself was satisfactory, though the pricing might be a bit high for what you get.

I have been using American Home Shield for about a year and a half now. Recently, I had an issue with my oven. It wasn't functioning correctly, so American Home Shield sent Sears out to take a look. They tried to repair it, but ultimately they couldn't fix it and ended up giving me money to purchase a new one because the part required wasn't working. This process took about two months, but I didn't mind since they attempted a quick temporary fix initially.
Overall, I've filed four claims with them, and three of those went smoothly. However, there was one instance where the vendor came out and claimed everything was fine, even though it clearly wasn't. In the end, I explained the situation to American Home Shield, and they refunded me the charge, which was good customer service.
One area for improvement is their customer service response time, especially when trying to reach someone in a leadership or managerial role—it can take quite a while.
As for their vendors, it's hit or miss—some are great, while others are just average. Generally, I'd rate my experience with American Home Shield as a solid four out of five.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

I had a frustrating experience with American Home Shield. My hot water heater went out, and I needed both my toilet and shower handle fixed due to a broken cartridge. Initially, when I reached out, it was difficult to get someone from American Home Shield to listen to my issues. And the plumbing company they sent was quick to inform me that nothing was covered under my contract.
The plumber quoted around $275 for the hot water heater replacement, insisting that it wasn't covered. However, after some back-and-forth and a lot of phone calls, it turned out that the valves were covered. The main issue was a miscommunication which seemed to stem both from the language barrier with the plumber and the assumptions made by the plumbing company. Eventually, a three-way call with American Home Shield and the plumbing company sorted it out.
While the plumber sent was hard to understand, he did help by leaving the old parts with me, proving no modifications were made. The parts were just replaced, which contradicted what had initially been recorded.
While my online claim experience was smooth, as the platform is straightforward to use, the customer service over the phone was lacking. I needed to make about 12 calls in a short period to get through to a helpful representative. In terms of repair quality, everything has been working fine since the adjustments.
When it comes to costs, I faced an issue with the pricing of a shower handle that wasn't covered. The company's quotation wildly exceeded what I could find on my own from retailers, which was quite frustrating.
Overall, while the American Home Shield's website is user-friendly, the persistent issues with customer service and pricing discrepancies made my experience less than satisfactory.

Recently, I requested service for the lights in my bathroom, but American Home Shield informed me that this wasn't covered under their plan, and I ended up fixing it myself. In the past, I had an issue with my dishwasher, and they came to fix it without any problems, which was a positive experience.
Generally, their customer service is good. They have a dispatch center that helps in scheduling appointments and arranging maintenance, which I find convenient. However, I do think there’s room for improvement, hence why I would rate my overall experience with American Home Shield a 3 out of 5. Their customer service experience gets a 4, indicating I’m quite satisfied with it.
As for the pricing, I feel it’s average. I use their website frequently to log in and request services, and it's quite user-friendly.

My recent experience with American Home Shield has been quite disappointing. We had an issue with our water heater, which needed to be replaced. The new one provided by the company didn’t match the capacity or efficiency of our previous one. The one we had was a 66-gallon and it was energy-efficient and it would go from hybrid to electric once we wanted it to go electric if we needed more warm water, but this one isn't. It's not even near to what we had. Our home requires a larger unit due to its size, but we received a smaller, less efficient model. The contractor, Free Water Plumbing LLC, was professional and did the best with what was approved, but it wasn’t what we needed.
The process of getting the replacement took longer than expected. Despite stressing the urgency due to water leakage in our garage during freezing weather, it took a while for the situation to be resolved. Initially, the contractor made temporary repairs, but the problem persisted until the entire unit was eventually replaced.
In the past, I've had positive experiences with American Home Shield, especially with an older home where they provided excellent service. However, with this incident, I feel very dissatisfied. If I were to rate them, I'd give a 2.5 out of 5 stars currently. The customer service at the beginning was great. But what I encountered during this last experience was disappointing as they didn't address my concerns adequately. The customer service rep didn't understand where I was coming from, with the unit that I replaced. She said it was what was approved and that's what they could provide for me. While their website and coverage have been solid, the service during this case didn't meet my expectations. I would caution others to ensure they communicate their needs clearly when dealing with them.

I recently had a claim with American Home Shield for a broken pipe and submitted my request for service online. The online process was standard, as I didn't interact directly with a representative, which made it neither a bad nor a good experience. When the contractors arrived, the experience was fine, and the pipes have been working well since the repair.
Although I haven't engaged with American Home Shield's customer service in recent years, I remember it being much easier to deal with early on. It feels like there's more red tape now, perhaps due to an increased customer base.
I'm satisfied with the coverage provided by my warranty; I'd rate this past service as a 5. However, I find the product price to be less favorable, rating it a 2. As for their online tools and website, my experience has been positive. Overall, making a claim was a smooth process, and the service itself was satisfactory.
We appreciate the fantastic review and are glad we could be of service. If you have any further needs or questions, please reach out to us again.

My downstairs heating stopped working and I submitted the claim through the online portal, which was quite straightforward. I simply had to select the issue, confirm my address, and pay the deductible. Soon after, All Tech Air Conditioning contacted us for the service. Although I wasn't home at the time, my wife mentioned that everything went smoothly during their visit.
After the repairs, the heating is functioning perfectly, as it should. While I would rate the claim process a 4 out of 5, due to some past challenges I faced with communication over the phone, I prefer to use the portal for its simplicity. Previously, with a different company, I could speak directly with a representative, but with American Home Shield, phone calls sometimes lead to misunderstandings. I recommend improving the communication aspect, especially for consumers already frustrated with broken appliances. Despite this, the service is reliable and cost-friendly, which I'd highlight when recommending American Home Shield to friends or family.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.

My refrigerator went out due to a power surge. I contacted AHS for service. I was told they did not have anyone in my area who serviced refrigerator and they would need time to find someone. They never did. I had to jump through hoops to cancel the policy. I got it cancelled on Dec. 21, 2024. I checked credit card statement on February 26, 2025 and saw charges from AHS. I contacted AHS and was told that I had a duplicate contract that was initiated on Jan. 17, 2025. I did not initiate it. I was told it would be cancelled and I would receive a refund in 14 to 21 days after lengthy conversations with representatives. They did not have a supervisor that I could speak to. I do not believe them and I believe AHS is a predatory company.

Jones Family Appliance is undoubtedly the best repair service I've ever dealt with. They were incredibly responsive and delivered exactly what they promised, resolving issues efficiently. Unfortunately, my other experiences with American Home Shield weren't as impressive. I had repeated issues with my refrigerator that previous technicians failed to repair properly, often due to communication barriers and shortcuts taken during repairs. This led to further problems, making the process frustrating.
Also, on my last attempt to schedule a repair was through American Home Shield's automated phone system, it incorrectly stated that my appliance wasn't covered. I had to speak with a live representative to correct the error, and although they resolved it, this added unnecessary hassle. I've been with American Home Shield since around 1998, but their customer service and quality of service have not met my expectations recently, leading me to rate my overall experience a 2 out of 5. The ease of using their website has been satisfactory in the past and although I haven’t used it recently, I would suggest improvements for a more intuitive and user-friendly web interface.

We had some plumbing issues with our toilets and the contractors dispatched by American Home Shield were very professional. They arrived on time, completed the repairs effectively, and the performance since the repair has been satisfactory. The process of submitting a claim with American Home Shield was straightforward, as I usually do it online. The website is user-friendly, and I seldom need to speak to someone directly. However, I've noticed that their prices have become increasingly expensive, reaching about $112 a month. While the service maintains its quality, the continuous price hikes concern me, as they don't accompany any improvements or additional services. Because of this, I would consider looking for a more cost-effective provider.

I recently had my toilet repaired with the help of American Home Shield, and I must say that the service was excellent. The technician who handled the repair was extremely professional and competent. Since then, I haven't encountered any issues with the toilet. This was actually the first and only claim I've had to file with American Home Shield, and the entire process was seamless. I reached out for assistance, and within just a few days, a technician was sent to my home. Overall, I had a very positive experience. The technician was knowledgeable, and I was very satisfied with the service provided.

My experience with American Home Shield has been mixed. Back in January, I submitted a claim, and although the process was pleasant and the contractors were friendly, the service was quite delayed. It took almost a month for them to address the problem, and during this time, I had to go to the laundromat to wash and dry clothes, which was a significant hassle, especially with my work schedule. While I understand they have a high volume of business, the delay was frustrating. I also got a claim out here now for the same problem that I had back in January. The same maintenance people called today to schedule an appointment for some time this week.
We appreciate your business and value your feedback. If there is anything else we can do for you, please let us know.
