    My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for my washer. They were going to replace it, but the model they were going to replace it with actually didn't fit in the condo where I live, so I had to go out and buy my own stackable style of washer and dryer. But they gave me credit towards the washer part of it. So I'm happy with that claim. It worked out good.

    Submitting a claim for the washer was fine. But when we had a problem with our refrigerator, it was a horrible experience because it took 4 months for them to fix it. They had one company do it for 2 months and then another company worked on it for almost 2 months. The problem started July 31st and we just got it done 2 Mondays ago.

    The technicians they sent out at different times were very good. But the first people that did the refrigerator, the office people are horrible. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They told me that they had the part when they never even ordered it. They're lying about it. Then when they sent the guy out, he said, "Why am I coming back here?" I said, "Well, they said you had the part to fix in the refrigerator." He said, "They never gave me a part to fix in the refrigerator." I took off a day without pay at work when it was scheduled to happen, and it happened twice with that company. So that wasn't a great experience.

    Last time it took AHS three days to get somebody that would fix my broken washing machine. This is the first time I’ve ever had a problem with them. I've used them almost consistently for the past 15 years since I bought my house except for a couple of years when I just couldn't afford it and I've never had this issue happened before. Otherwise it's all been good. I've never had any problem except for the fact they keep raising their copays. It was $25 when I first started and now it’s $75.

    I submitted a claim for my garage door opener. They were not able to fix it at a timely manner. But, it wasn't American Home Shield per se. It was the company that they sent out. When I called American Home Shield, they said the company that they contracted was AC Garage Door Openers or Overhead Doors (AC Overhead Door Company). I called them on a Friday. They said they couldn't come because they didn't work over the weekend. The next appointment was on a Tuesday. It was weird but I said, "Okay. Fine." They came out on Tuesday. They sent a technician out. He analyzed the whole problem and said he was gonna go back and get back with American Home Shield to see what they covered and what they didn't.

    I didn't hear from them so I called back the garage door people on a Friday. I ended up having to call back 4 times. She kept saying, "Oh well, I have to find the paperwork. Oh well, I have to speak to my supervisor." Each time, she would say, "Okay. I'll call you back within the hour." She never did. Finally, she calls me back after hours. It was 5:30 or 6:00 to say, "Oh. We have to send somebody out there to get a second opinion." I said, "Oh, why? Did you lose the paperwork?" She said, "Oh, no." I said, "Why are you sending somebody else? He seemed to be pretty confident with what he had described and what the pieces that he needed to fix it. Either they were gonna fix it or they were going to replace it for the warranty." So she ended up saying, "Oh, no. We have to send somebody up for second opinion."

    They turned out sending the same kid out who had previously been there. Total waste of my time. I had to wait between the hours of 9 and 1. It took up like 10 or 15 hours of my time because I had to sit around, waiting for this guy to come. He comes back and he says, "Oh. I don't really know why I'm here." I said, "Well, they wanted a second opinion. I guess you're giving yourself your own second opinion." So he looked at it. He's saying it's the same thing. I called American Home Shield and I said, "What's going on with these people that you're sending out to my house?" American Home Shield said, "Well, we haven't even heard from them, have they been out to your house yet?"

    This is for over a week now that I had no garage door. I'm 55 years old. I shouldn't be listing anything to be able to get in and out of my house. It was unbelievable. The kid said, "Well, I found the same thing. So we're gonna send out for the parts." Next thing I know, the company calls me back a few days later and says, "Oh. We can have somebody come out Monday evening to fix it." I said, "Fine." I want the door fixed. The same kid came out to fix it. He's piecing parts together to try to fix my garage door opener. There were no new parts. It wasn't even a part that he supposedly had ordered. Because he was gonna use a new part to fix it. He sat there on my floor on my garage and took a chain that was too big and took a hammer and chisel to it and broke it apart to try to make it work. I really thought it was really shoddy work.

    I paid $75 for that aggravation. I have no idea how long my garage door is gonna last. It was nothing done professionally. I was really unhappy with the people they sent out. I don't know if American Home Shield could have done anything or they would have done anything. That's my story. Now my garage door opener is working. But I'm not feeling very safe about it.

    I'm very unhappy with this particular experience. I've had other experiences where they come in and they sent really good people. I've been with them for over a year and I've had really good experience. I'd hate to judge them by one experience, which seems like it could be more of the contractor than them. But I'm still not sure that my garage door is fixed properly and it's not gonna snap or break again.

    It's been very good with American Home Shield. But the one problem we always have with them is that they only have two plumbers that handle their jobs. And we had continued problems with one of these two plumbing companies -- not being able to reach them and they would schedule but won't show up. I'd report it to AHS and then the next time, we would be assigned that same plumber again. So, each time this happens, I’d have to call them up and tell them that this was the plumbing company we’ve had a problem with, and if they could please change it to the other company, but that doesn't seem to get into the system. They're not learning from those calls that people are coming back with. Other than that, everything else has been great.

    I've been very, very pleased with American Home Shield. We recently submitted a claim online because the upstairs air conditioner's blower wasn't working. And within the day, a local AC person came. I appreciate the fact that they sent someone local because they didn't have to be 45 min away. He was fantastic. So I had kind of figured it would probably be the next day before we heard from them but they came that afternoon. The contractor was very polite and very nice. When he got the air conditioner going again, he left and said that he was going to make another call but he was going to come back and check it one day. And he did. We've just been very pleased. I placed a call on a Monday but the company couldn’t get to me until that Saturday and that was just to even come out and look.     We recently claimed for our Jenn-Air cooktop with four burners and an optional grill. It is older and the replacement part was not available so they got a new range cooktop for me. Submitting a claim to AHS went fine. But, the first contractor they sent was supposed to be some little mom-and-pop place out of Columbus which is about an hour and a half away from us. And when they called about setting up their appointment, there was a great deal of laughing men carrying on in the background. And the first person I talked to stated that he was the owner of the company although I couldn't understand him, his words were very slurred. I told him that it's a long way to go from Columbus, then he asked me how to get here. I said they need to get into Interstate 70 and then he asked if we're in West Virginia. I said no and that they have to go West, and it was one thing after another like that. And finally, he said he will just use his GPS.

    We set it up that they would come on a Tuesday, between 10 and 12, after everybody's gone to work and all that early morning commotion is over with. Then he called on Monday, at 5:15 in the morning, and gave me a heads up that they will be here in a few to install that thing. I told him that they cannot come because we were set for Tuesday. He said that he came all the way from Columbus and it's an hour and a half away. Then I told him that I was sorry but this was not our deal. He made some more noises and I told him to just leave and go home and that we are not going to see them this morning or tomorrow morning. And he just went on and I finally hung up on him.

    I called American Home Shield again and they were very nice and very apologetic. And, the next installer that contacted me was somebody from Dayton, which is only about half an hour away. It was a company that I had heard of and they were very nice. We had it set up for them to come, but then they called me and said that they can't do it because it was a downdraft and they don't work with them so they won't come. So it took me a week of talking to AHS about what we were going to do next. And I told them that there's a very fine company just two blocks away from our house, but it turned out that the company was not on their list. It was the only company that they could find that works on this model so we ended up with the company and got to do the work.

    American Home Shield said they would like to have this company on their roster. But the folks at the company that I have known for 25 years said that the rate for doing work for AHS is not so good, so they have not signed up to be a provider. But, they worked with me on this and removed the old cooktop and replaced it with a new one. Although, I hope that the payment is adequate for the work that was done and we'll see about that when they send their invoice in. It was kind of dramatic. However, I would still recommend AHS. They've helped me four other times and it has always gone smoothly, and have very good service people. It was just this thing that was pretty bad.

    I called American Home Shield for a repair on my air conditioning system back in summer and the person they sent did a great job. He was quick and I was happy with him. The only thing is I didn't realize that there was a 48-hour SoA to have someone come out when there's a repair needed. I don't remember that being pointed out when I looked at the contract. It would have been nice if I had known that because I got a bit aggravated with them when my AC went out. But other than that, I would recommend AHS.

    We had our toilet repaired recently and they came out the next day to fix everything within an hour. We've always had pretty good experience with them, although sometimes it's a little difficult submitting a claim. I once tried to file a claim for an electrical problem when I had some lighting that wasn't working. They said that was not covered even though I had the deluxe package, so I found it a little odd because everything else in the house was covered. I just had my package upgraded last year so I thought electrical was covered, but it wasn't. But still, they've helped us with the pool filter, the furnace, and over the years, we've had several different claims. That's why I've still told other people about American Home Shield.

    Our experience with AHS has been okay but we do have a problem that’s not fixed yet. Back in the winter, we had a leak in our bathroom and had to call the restoration people to come out. So they took charge of everything and the plumbing went through AHS. The water that comes into the tub is a very slow stream and we can’t get hot water because it will take 10 minutes to fill the tub up to get enough water to take a bath and by that time the water’s cold. I was disappointed in that because we have a new bathroom with a tub we can’t use. The plumber that was here said that he couldn’t fix it and it’s because they need to take the tiles off so he can get to it. I don’t care for the plumber AHS uses. I’d call my own plumber. We didn’t want to have to pay $75 for someone to come back out and redo what wasn’t completed the right way.

The contractor they sent had done work for me before and he was very nice and professional, and he came the same day. And my plumbing has been perfect since the repair. However, I'm concerned about my recent claim for my dryer which I submitted 2 weeks ago because it's taking so long. They came out but they had to order a part and it's been 2 weeks. This is the 4th time I've had people out for it and I've contacted them but no one answered. And although the person who came to fix it is very knowledgeable and does a great job out of all the other people, he doesn't call me and let me know what's going on with it.     We were unexpectedly dropped from our last home warranty provider. It was a California company that we had gotten. All of a sudden, all we knew was that we didn't have coverage anymore. We scrambled and I did a little homework. It was between them, American Home Shield, and another company that had a good reputation. We decided to go with American Home Shield because they send the same technicians while the others send different ones.

    I've been happy with American Home Shield. I submitted a claim for the air conditioner and everything went smoothly. I did it online and it was quick, they were fast to assign it. We got a call a couple of days afterwards. We had never done or had any contact with the contractor before, but he got here timely and fixed the problem. It only needed a freon charge. The repair made it better. It's been fine and it works good. It's good to have an air conditioning especially when it gets hot. It's hard when it does and the AC is not working. So far, it's all been really good. I'd recommend AHS to a friend.

    The furnace would not work. I called and they said they would get back asap (contract states within 24 hours). I called on Friday and as of Monday still no call back. I called them on Tuesday and they said they could not find a contractor. I gave them a name of a local plumber and they said he was not an approved contractor and that they are still looking for one. Next day still no call. I called back and said I wanted to talk to the supervisor and the lady said there was no supervisor there and that she would pass the message on for a supervisor to call me. I never received a call back.

    I had a small problem with our water heater and so I called AHS. They were prompt and the contractor found out that there's a screw that's broken and wasn't tight. For a screw, you always got to pay $75 and that was the disadvantage. Additionally, it's concerning and a little disappointing that some of the people that came and worked on various things didn't seem to understand the product itself. They have to call for information as to how to fix it. Sometimes I don't think that AHS is always sending the best technicians to work on things, whether it be Sears or whoever they get these people from.

    In general, dealing with American Home Shield has gotten a bit tricky during the hotter summer months. The wait time to get to speak to somebody over the phone sometimes took 40 minutes. I know that one can deal with the claim on the website and I do that often, but because I'm dealing with a number of condos that I have, the complication of making sure that they're calling the right person means that I prefer to call instead.

    I'm happy with American Home Shield overall - I wasn't happy with one of their contractor in particular, but I think it's probably sorted out now. However Choice has been calling me a lot, offering a very good deal to switch to them. My renewal comes up in November so I'm under a bit of pressure because of the significantly reduced cost with Choice. I wouldn't expect American Home Shield to match Choice's offer but at the same time, I also got a 10% increase in my renewal charges from American Home Shield. I am undecided because switching to Choice would bring me big savings on the number of properties that I have, however, American Home Shield's service has been fine.

    I have a long story with them on A/C. Our compressor fail on 10/10/15. I call on Saturday. It was very hot weather in California. They sent a technician on Monday 10/12 who reported that there were items on and around the air condition and even sent them pictures. The report he sent with pictures suggested that the compressor failed due to overheating. It was a lie, there was no material ever on top of the air condition. Yes there are some toys around but not close, at least 1 foot away. I asked for a second opinion who came on 10/13, reported leaves inside on the bottom of the air condition (it is an outside unit so leaves will always be around - this is 12 years old unit). I ask to see the picture with material on top of the air condition but the technician (first one) could not find the picture, he said he lost them.

    On October 19 I received a letter rejecting my claim stating "that the repair of the air conditioning due to condition that were not normal wear and tear is/are not covered under the home service contract with American Home Shield." After a week suffering from the hot weather and all the aggravation I called a company that repaired the unit at a cost of $1675.00 with 1 year warranty.

    I am a heart patient who has a mechanical valve and a pace maker and also had a stroke so I could not wait any longer in this circumstance. I searched the internet and see that more than 5,000 complaint cases were filed with BBB office. This has to stop. AHS is using innocent customer that pay them around $700.00 and $75.00 for service call and then they tell me the case is denied. I need help. I want them to pay for all what they do. I need help finding a lawyer in California that can help me sue them. Need your advice. Thanks in advance.

    Submitting claims to American Home Shield were all fairly easy, I made them by phone. I went to put in a claim, it wasn't rejected because they kept saying I had to pay the bill and it took quite a long time to get it straightened out. I didn't like the way the amount kept popping up on the account. That delayed me getting service. The one that I hated the most was the plumbing, getting the caulks taken off. I didn't like the company, Plumbing Genius. It was the second time I used them. They put a little hole in my shower that they were supposed to come back and fix but did not. The work they did took too long. I was totally dissatisfied and I would not use that company again. It's been bad since they did the repair.     My sump pump in my crawl space quit. I called American Home Shield and they gave me the name of the plumber who would fix it. A call to him told me he did not service my area. Call AHS again, always very long call wait times, minimum 20 minutes. They finally admitted they did not have a plumber and I would have to wait 24 to 48 hours. I said by that time, I would have water damage. They said I could find my own out of network plumber. He had to be licensed and insured in South Carolina, but I had to wait 4 hours from my original call. And to top it off, they gave me a list of 9 licensed insured plumbers who I was not allowed to contact. Known names like Roto-Rooter, Ben Franklin Plumbing. Hey, I live in the country. There are not that many options and suddenly it is my responsibility to find a plumber that they will approve or not. By the time the plumber got here, he could not get under the house without drying out.

    This necessitated his coming back and an additional cost of $200 which AHS refuses to pay even though their arbitrary delay is what caused the issue. They can't provide a plumber, really? What the hell am I paying them for. Still waiting to be reimbursed. No info after many calls and LONG waits on hold. Only communication I got from them was a notice thanking me for my renewal. And oh by the way, my rates are going up. Yeah right, like I might ever renew with those people. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

    American Home Shield home warranty came with the purchase of the house a little over a year ago. Finally had a chance to call in for a service of our built-in refrigerator in late August or early September this year. Requested service via their online website, which clearly indicated that a service provider locally will call within 24 business hours. Never got a call. A week goes by and I got on the phone to follow up. Was told that the local Sears repairs is unable to come out to do diagnostic assessment for another 2 weeks, this is after a week of waiting for scheduling. This first representative was helpful and tried to book another servicing company sooner. The provider called almost within the hour of the placement, which was great, but was told that they do not service built-in refrigerators.

    Had to call AHS back to explain and given another servicer, who ALSO does not service built-in refrigerator. Finally had to settle to wait for 2 more weeks for Sears while having to deal with spoilage of food. In the meantime, I had renewed the policy via online and the renewal was never reflected. Finally called them back to express concerned about their website and the timeliness of their service and specifically asked for a 'supervisor' to call back, which did occur. Unfortunately, the experience was absolutely disappointing. After explaining my concerns about their website, the communication problems and the length of time to wait for servicing, it was clear she wasn't listening at all. I could hear her doing other things in the background and when I finally said "hello" she said that she is still online.

    The whole conversation, she said was recorded so this would validate my interpretation. She was curt and non-empathetic. I was in shock with this kind of response. I told her I renewed my contract, but want to help them improve their process. Instead, she confirmed that bottom line that if I am unhappy with their service, I should cancel the coverage within 30 days of the renewed contract. She didn't even try to earn my trust of business. Adding insult to injury, I had to call back 4 times between September and October to finally get my policy cancelled. Each time, each representative would put me on hold and either the call gets cut off or I got rerouted to be placed back of the line and speak with another representative all together. Finally spoke with a reasonable representative (Kenesha) who confirmed my cancellation with reference number of #**.

    Was also promised refund of first month's payment. I won't believe this until I see it on my credit card statement. I asked her if all my previous calls were indicated in my account notes. She said she does not see any notes about cancellation request. Why the 1 star? Inconsistent, terrible service, awful website functionality, non-empathetic customer service. I went with another home warranty company and hope this new company will not fail me. Oh by the way, I wrote same concerns via their emails requesting feedback. Never heard back from them despite the time it took for me to give them constructive criticism.

    I had American Home Shield when we lived in California. I moved to Arizona and when I bought my home the sellers offered me a different company's home warranty plan. When that plan expired, I went back to American Home Shield expecting good coverage and service. Two and a half weeks ago I called for service on my furnace. The contractor called me Friday but I wasn't able to talk at the time he called. He said he would call me back in one hour, which was a good time for me. He didn't call. I tried calling him and finally reached him on Saturday late afternoon. He could not come out until the follow Friday, 10 days after my initial call.

    My furnace has not been working properly and it's over 25 years old. I am concerned about carbon monoxide; he didn't have a CO monitor with him - he said he had two but they were both at his shop, charging. Who comes to check an old furnace without one of those? He was sloppy, dirty; his and his assistants' shoes were muddy, and they didn't have shoe covers; I have a wood floor. I didn't want to ask them to take their shoes off because they were so filthy I was afraid it would stink and I'd never get rid of the smell. Both men didn't smell so great anyway.

    He told me the furnace needed replacing and would recommend it to AHS. I didn't hear from AHS, so I called on Tuesday of this week - two weeks after my initial call. The contractor had not contacted them with a "diagnosis." The woman with whom I spoke called the contractor while I was on the line and the secretary said he was out; she left a message to call AHS. I told her I wanted another contractor. She asked me to wait 24 hours to give him a chance to provide a diagnosis. I didn't hear back from AHS so I called this morning. The first woman I spoke with told me that they had to wait for this slob to give them a diagnosis and I could not have another contractor. She said she would send it to "contractor relations."

    I called again and asked for a supervisor. This time, the woman (a different one) said there was no supervisor available. She again called the contractor and she again left a message. She said she saw the note in the file to send it to contractor relations, and would call me by the end of the day, 5:00 Eastern Time (I am on Mountain Time). I am so frustrated. I am paying money for a policy in an attempt to save money when these things happen. We have already had a dusting of snow here (I live at 7,000 ft altitude) and I need a new furnace. How long is it going to take for someone at AHS to do something about this? I told the women I spoke with that this is unacceptable and I want another contractor. Who do I call now??? Please consider this when choosing your plan.

    My most recent experience with American Home Shield was quite pleasurable. I had them out here for an air-conditioning issue in the summer and a heating issue about 3 weeks ago. Both times, everything got handled beautifully. They were good. He kept me abreast of what he was doing, why he was doing that, what may have been the problem all the way to improve the system. When he was here about the heater, I talked to him about long-term: How was the heater, what it would cost moving forward if we chose to replace it. AHS sent a contractor who did a super job. I thought there would be more than just a leak with the water heater, but the contractor checked it out, and everything was OK, and we've had no problems. They're very helpful.

    We've had AHS for a number of years and they have been very helpful in the things that we've had to deal with. In the past we have gone through several microwaves that they had to fix over and over, then finally, they just got tired of it and bought us a new one.     I have three cats and had a wonderful stoppage in the bathroom sink. I tried to fix it a few times with Drano but it wasn't working anymore. It was a pain because it was running very slow. American Home Shield sent somebody out who had to use the auger, that's how bad it was. The snake wouldn't do it. He also put a new thing in the toilet, fixed the water level and now it works very well. I was very happy with the company that came out because I was getting ready to go on a trip and I wasn’t going to leave a potential problem. They have done work previously with the kitchen sink not too long ago.

    American Home Shield also did an expensive furnace rebuild a few years ago. I've been happy with their work and the vendors that they sent. They've been good and gotten people out right away. I heard there were some complaints about it but when I asked one of the vendors that was here previously, he said in his opinion it was people not reading their contracts thinking that they were covered for things that they weren't covered for.

    One of my policies is on a rental house and I had tenants from hell who tore up a lot of things. The kitchen sink was gushing water so I called for a plumber. Submitting the claim was very efficient. AHS got right to it and told me who would be calling, and they did and came out two days later. They showed it wasn't actually in their line of work because my tenant had cut the supply line but they were very polite. It was a waste of $75 on my part but that wasn't their fault. I had to call in another plumber to replace the kitchen faucet and sprayer. I also had a problem with the ceiling fan. It was dangling by the wires and AHS fixed that.     My experiences with American Home Shield have been almost 180 degree turnaround for me. Last two years or so, I would've said I was not at all pleased because I'd have to wait for hours. I'd stay up until 2 o'clock in the morning so I could get the line through. Then the person that I would talk to obviously didn't care. They were not interested really in your problem. One time, it took me almost six weeks to get my air conditioning fixed in the middle of the summer because they kept sending me people that would say they knew how to fix it but they really didn't. Back then, we have a Daikin system, an old and Japanese made mini level system and very difficult to work on.

    I took my contracts out and then they had given me what is called outside authorization, where I could get anybody I want. Then Geri called me, she said: “Lloydelle, I know we've already authorized for you to use someone that you know to do it but I want to tell you about this Roberts Heat and Air.” And I said: “Look, I'd rather work within your network so lets try them." Now its been wonderful. They're wonderful service people.

    Since I had Roberts, we are delighted. The other day when I called, I immediately reached a young lady who was very professional and nice. We had service the next day. At this point in time, we are extremely pleased with American Home Shield. It has improved tremendously for us. As long as they will stick with Roberts or somebody really is certified in Daikin, we don't have that long three and four week wait while they send people out and then people will come and walk off and say, “We don't know how to work on that unit.” And then they have to go back to the deal again and sometimes we've gone through as many as five different service people coming out. That's not happening now.

    Two years ago when I took out my first policy it was like $560, now were up to $740 or something like that. I think that's a little high and I think it's going to scare unless they are just going up on us, I don't know, I would like to do two more. I want to put two other townhouses with them but they've gone up in price quite a bit.

    Currently I would say AHS is professional in how they handle themselves. Another thing, is that they've improved when I call for service. They didn't used to be because we couldn't get through to them. But these last two experiences we had with the young ladies have been very professional, seem to be very caring, they're interested it was just better. I've gotten them about three contracts here in our subdivision by recommending them. They're seeing what good luck were having with American Home Shield.

My only concern with AHS is that they kicked me off of the automatic bills payment without informing me so they had me missing payments but I got it straight. A couple of months ago, I called them inquiring about something I wanted to do. I didn't want to disrupt anything. The rep at the end of time did not say, "Hey, okay we're taking you off online billing." It was clearly a misunderstanding and miscommunication. I'm very dissatisfied with them.

    I had a garage door problem and American Home Shield replaced it but it wasn't the same accommodation I had before. I had an older system where I could use the remote from my car but then I had to have a hand remote for myself and my husband. I thought that if the car could perform the service of opening the garage door initially, it should be able to do it when the service was completed. I didn't feel that the job was complete. So I called, they sent someone out, and I had to purchase something extra that was about $8.50.

    I didn't know whether it was a new service call or just a completion of a service call. They said that the time limit had expired for me to make any adjustments to the service and that I owed another service call to the vendor that provided the service and I understood that I would have to pay it. Despite that, the experience was a good one. They were very nice people to deal with and I would deal with them again. I would use the contracting company even as a private vendor.     Our experience with American Home Shields has been very positive so far. We had a plumbing issue about two months ago and it reoccurred. They came back and redid it and it has been fine since then. Initially, I tried calling them and I don't like their computer system. So I called the plumbing company that had fixed it the first time and they told me I would have to make another request to American Home Shield for another repair even though it would still be under their warranty. So I requested service and she called me back about 10 minutes later to set up an appointment. The plumber was there at the time set and they repaired the plumbing.

    I don't have any complaints with American Home Shield. I have it at my rental home. Their contractor, Platinum Electrical, was very good about trying to contact me in order to get the work done but I couldn't give them a date because I'm not in the house. I have an issue with them before because they also were called about heating and air. They went out to fix the problem and came back saying it can't be fixed and that it needs an electrician. We recently hired an air-conditioning person at our own home and he said, "That is crazy because if they are a heating and air-conditioning company, they ought to know how to fix that problem. You shouldn't have had to call an electrician." It's hard to get them on the phone, there was long wait. If I call them, I have to wait for somebody to give me an information. I have no idea what the last person did. But after being with my older home warranty company, this is such an improvement already.

    I have been a big fan of American Home Shield. My sister-in-law told me about them a year ago and we decided to get their services. We've been in a home for 18 years without a home warranty and my sister-in-law told us it's great value because when something breaks, I can call, AHS would give me the number of the company that's gonna fix it, and I'll get the service in a short period of time. I find that AHS comes through with what they say. Their warranty is of great value to me and I've promoted them to a lot of people.

    I wasn't happy the first time with the company that came to fix my air conditioning though. I mentioned this to AHS but the company ended up having to come back because I had a problem with their work and I would have to pay another $75 if I use a different company. When they came back, they had to replace the unit but it was still not working afterwards. Another guy had to come back because the drain was unclogged. This was a little disconcerting because it was the same company that had to come back three times within a short period of time. The first guy who came should have recognized that it needed more than just a little of this or that. Furthermore, when it got replaced, they should have made sure everything was exactly the way it was in the house. The person who coordinated the calls was also incredibly rude and unaccommodating. In the end though, they did a good job fixing the issue, so I've been very happy.

I did not hear back from anyone that day so I called again the next morning on Friday, October 9th to find out the status of my order. I was told that the company that you contract with was 2 weeks out and they were trying to find another company to do the repair. Do you only have one company that you work with in my area?

    I waited all day but still did not receive a call back so I called again around 4:30 pm to find out what the situation was. I was told they were still looking but if I wanted to find a company that was licensed and insured, then they would give me an authorization code to move forward with that. I was told I would have to pay the company upfront and then I would be reimbursed for that service. However, before the company was allowed to do any work, they were to call American Home Shield back and give an estimate of the cost. Once I got off the phone with American Home Shield at 4:45 pm that Friday, I called a heating and cooling company and I was told that is would cost $108 just to come into my house as it was an after-hours call. I then called American Home Shield back and asked if that was covered in my policy and I was told it was not.

    Not only was I doing the work of your company, American Home Shield, by finding my own contractor but I had to pay the fees upfront along with an after-hours fee. Needless to say, I did not have them come and fix the hot water heater as I was not going to pay that after-hours fee. I have come to the conclusion that anything after 5 pm and on the weekend, I am out of luck as the companies you contract with will not do service calls during those times. This is not good customer service.

    After being without hot water going on 5 days, I made an appointment on Monday, October 12th. The repair man showed up and I explained that we needed to contact American Home Shield before he could fix anything and give an estimate for the repairs. After being on phone with American Home Shield for over 45 minutes, we were able to get the authorization code for the hot water heater to be fixed.

    Not only was I very discouraged with the customer service I received during this entire ordeal, the repair man was exasperated. As you can imagine, my first experience with American Home Shield was anything was pleasant. I will think long and hard about renew my home warranty with your company for next year. I strongly encourage you to revamp your policies and improve your customer service to all or your clients.

    I had some repairs done and did a survey. I wasn't happy with how long it took for AHS to come out here to fix my washing machine. I have put down a whole lot of money out of pocket because they failed. Then when they ordered a part, the wrong part showed up, I had to wait almost a month without a washing machine and I wasn't happy about that. Every once in a while there's a glitch but most of the time, they respond well and get the job done. I recommended them to many friends over the years and several of them have signed up.     I've used American Home Shield twice and the first time was perfect. Then I've had this AC claim and the same people went out. They told me that my AC had frozen up like a block of ice and he couldn't do anything until it was thawed out. So he came back the next day. It was my filters that were not letting enough air in and that's what made the unit freeze up. So the system was okay, but I needed to change those filters. The technician pulled the dirty filters out and left them downstairs. I didn't get them changed. I had to buy the filters and give the 100 bucks to the contractor. Those guys were nice, but I found this odd and didn't know if that was how this should be handled, and I wasn't there to question it. I agreed to pay the $100 charge and I ended up paying $180. I'd like that disclosed a little better. I want to find out if that’s normally how that is taken care of.

    American Home Shields been good so far. I do not like the billing system though. I think it's very disrespectful to not be able to send an invoice to a person and allow them the opportunity to see to pay the bill before they get a notice saying the pay is due. I can't stand that and I just found out that my bill is due on the 28th of every month. I didn't really know that because I'm depending on American Home Shield to send me an invoice so that I could pay my bill on time. I tried to pay a month in advance to avoid getting that horrifying notice that my bill is past due. It wouldnt let me do it. It only allowed me to pay one month at a time. So now that I know that my bill is due on the 28th, I'm going to make every attempt to be sure that I pay that. There's no reason for them not to have a system that allows a person to pay the bill and not receive one of those horrible notices stating that my bill is past due.

    I think they're doing a good job in terms of hiring some really good people but some of them are not as knowledgeable as others. American Home Shield needs to realize that they need to invest the money and being sure that customer satisfaction is of the essence. One of the greatest downfalls of a lowest company is customer service. The other part of that is when one calls a company to talk to a live person and they're just going through a whole series of telephone prompts that by the time one gets to a live person, they're annoyed. All I want to do is talk to a live person that can help me.

    My most recent claim with American Home Shield was for my air conditioning system, a central air unit. The coils were damaged and leaking in the house resulting in a lot of water damage and black mold. But American Home Shield isn't responsible for secondary damage. I called American Home Shield August 15th as soon as I saw the water on the floor. First, I assumed it was the water heater because it was coming from that area. So we took off the paneling to expose it. And then I could see the water was cold and it was coming from the air conditioning unit so I opened it up and it had been spraying water in there. So I called them right away. The next day, they sent a contractor, Bay Mechanical. They're good and conscientious.

    They sent out a gentleman to look at the unit and he said, "You need to have this whole unit replaced." Initially, it got okay to adjust the top section. It took 45 days before the bottom line was completed. Had it not been for Daryl from social media department, the job won't get done. They did get it done but they procrastinated. It's fixed but I have all this residual damage, my floor is buckled and my homeowners may not cover it. It's a substantial repair and a health hazard since I'm disabled with breathing issues. They could have done a lot better than what they did. I think they should have stood up and offered to pay the repairs of damage because in part, they were responsible. They were somewhat complacent in it. And the 90-degree weather, we had a very hot summer down here, especially towards the end and not much rain. I'm not happy

    The humidity is what did it. If the air conditioner was dry, there was no problem because there's really not much condensation. Even though they were leaking, the coils weren't quite as bad but still leak to the point where I was putting down like 3 bath towels to collect the water everyday. And in the afternoon, I check in and they're completely sopping wet. This is ice-cold water so I know where it's coming from. Cant go without air. They finally did but they first ordered the wrong unit. They ordered an upflow unit which is designed for something that goes in the basement. Now, I needed a downflow because this is a single oval house.

    Sunny, the person that works in purchasing sucks. She doesn't know what she's doing. She was trying to order parts from vendors that don't participate with American Home Shield. We had the contractors offering to drive 50 or 60 miles to go get parts to get this job completed. They felt so badly for us. That's why I say Bay Mechanical is awesome. The best part of the experience was them. Because they steered me right the whole way. And then I think they helped get it done quicker than it might have otherwise gotten done.

    The value of my house is going down as a result of this according to the person that works for a restoration company. I'm disabled and my wife is having surgery next week. This is not good. I'm really left in a bind because of this. Quite frankly, I'm lost and they're complacent in this. This is how I feel. I'm kind of angry at them right now. There's been other people that had similar experiences and they're not the only company that does this. A lot of people think these home repair things are scams. Its an evil necessity. If I had to go and pay out of pocket to get this replaced, it might have been maybe $6,000 to get the central air unit replaced. The damages that this cost pretty much equal to that whole unit. I don't have anywhere to turn for that. And I'm hoping my homeowners will come through and do the right thing. I'm waiting to see an adjuster.

    My contract expires in 4 days and I didn't renew. They got to the point where they offered to pay my service fee for the job. Well, $75 isn't gonna make me do cartwheels. Pay for this expense for all the repairs of my house, which they have disclaimers in the fine print. They pretty much disclaim anything. Heed the warning. I'm not saying it's bad for everybody. You might have better luck. They don't have a lot of contractors in this area that work with them so we were limited. But Bay Mechanical is a pretty big name. They did all the air conditioning work on the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, which is a huge job. I would totally recommend them if you're lucky enough to get them. Their hands are tied too. They're willing to do the labor. They had guys waiting there with no work, waiting on Home Shield. And mine wasn't the only case.

I no longer want the service but this company will not let me speak to someone who can take care of this issue. I have called 4 times and sent emails and still no one will communicate with me. Either they tell me they will return my call within 24 hours or they just provide an automated messages saying they are too busy to take my call and then hang up. My only option is to cancel the card they are charging which is an inconvenience but what choice do I have? I thought this would be a helpful tool for a rental property but I see it's just a scam.     AHS is a rip-off scam company. I had an issue with my old heating and leaking ducting system. I called AHS, reported the problem and was told that my heating and ducting system issues would be covered. I was very adamant in my questioning of the AHS agent about coverage of my system and I was assured that I would have coverage for "Leaking heating ducting".

    Their first assigned technician, "Rick's Heating" never contacted me even though I called them personally and left them all my information. The 2nd technician "AMPKO Heating and AC" came out 10 days after my initial call to AHS. The technician saw the failed and leaking ducting areas during his inspection. This technician basically told me because my aged system had not totally failed and my leaky ducting was not apart and falling from the hangers, that HS would most likely not cover anything.

    I heard nothing from AMPKO Heating about their inspection and I called AHS to check on the status of my claim. I was told by the AHS agent the AMPKO technician had put in his report that I was remodeling my house and that he found no issues. I was remodeling my upstairs bathroom!! What does that have to do with my heating system!!! I contacted PG&E to inspect my heating system after the AHS contractors inspection said there was nothing wrong. PG&E arrived and "red Tagged" my heating system. I honestly think that AHS rewards their contractors to avoid any report that will necessitate repair. AHS has since sent me a service fee invoice for AMPKO on top of this for something that their agent knew they wouldn't cover. I would also like to add that the AHS agents that take your phone call are all ignorant and rude. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AHS for your home warranty!!!

    We contacted American Home Shield when our AC quit working and it was 100 degrees out. The AHS contractor came the next day and did a good job. The AC was low on Freon so he filled it with Freon and it’s been working fine since. I think the unit had a little leak but the guy said he couldn't search for it. So they came and did it and it's been fine ever since. This happened just before we were leaving the country on vacation so we had to have a neighbor come and sit on it while they fix it. But it was done fine. We had no problems getting the person scheduled to come here and then to come back and complete the repair once they got all the parts. Their contractor were very good about getting it fixed as soon as they possibly could. The house is actually more comfortable than it's been since I moved here. So it evidently needed fixing. I would recommend them to everybody I know and the air conditioning people were very good too. So I would recommend them as well.

    I recently filed an online claim with American Home Shield for my disposal and it was easy. The contractors they sent were excellent. They were running late, but they kept me informed. The performance has been perfect since the repair. Also, I'd like to highlight something that I was unhappy about, but not for the recent one. Our air conditioner went out during the summer and it was very hot. The contractor was sketchy, and my first dealings with the person was not a very good one. He was not sure when they'll come. I called back and said I need a time so I can take off from work, but he said he's not sure. I went ahead and called the person who I used to use through AHS who serviced our air conditioner every year for a maintenance. They came out, fixed it and they charged me $60. I get that they won't pay premium rates for someone to come on the weekend.

    We've been AHS customers since we've lived in the house for 16 years, and when our air conditioner went out when we first moved in, they put us up in a hotel at that time for one night. It was over 96 degrees and the contract says that they would pay for a hotel if it was a certain degree over, which was wonderful. We only used it for one night and it was great. I should have read my policy better as years have gone through. I wish AHS would go back to their program that if it's over a certain degree which can be verified through the National Weather Service - they will pay up to $90 a night until the air conditioner technicians could come to the house.

    I had the freezer of my refrigerator done by AHS. I have called them and told that my refrigerator wasn’t working. They came and fixed it but I didn't file a claim. After that, it has been great. But mind you, the lady that I had to talk with to file a claim was very rude. She doesn't talk to you good on the phone. I've had her twice, she's not a very nice person. On my first call she would not let me pass my claim, I had to wait like 2 days before somebody would call me back. I wasn't happy then.     Everything went perfect when American Home Shield replaced the garbage disposal. They were in touch with me within 24 hours and then the contractor, Myers, came within two days. He told me he would be here from 12 to 4 and on the day he was coming he called me about 30 minutes ahead of time. He got here about 12:30 and did what he's supposed to. He didn't keep me waiting until after 4 o'clock to come. He knew exactly what he was doing and had what he needed when he got here. He changed everything out, went outside, wrote the report up, came in and it took only about 20 minutes. Then I spent 10 minutes talking to him. He was very clean and presentable. The only problem that we had was trying to find a plumber who was available in a shorter timeframe in the area. The first one couldn't get out right away, but they helped us find a second one that could come sooner. The contractor did a good job in the installation and getting all the things he needed.     I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for the AC. It was a really good experience because they responded within 24 hours of the call. I already had a repair guy here who fixed the problem right at the 24-hour mark. He was excellent and the ac has been working great. However, all my other previous experiences haven't been so good because of the long periods of time or them sending a technician that wasn't qualified. I had that issue last year with the AC. They sent 2 guys out of Copperas Cove, Texas, and they weren't so cool. They came here but didn't fix the problem. Then it took another week to get them back over here. By that time, I ended up calling a manager at American Home Shield.

    I'm satisfied with AHS but when it comes to customer service, they do not answer the phone. In order to get with the customer service supervisor, I had to call a supervisor from sales and it wasn't even 30 seconds before they picked up. I told them to get me with an associate in the customer service department. Once that happened, I had the supervisor handle it and they fixed the problem. We customers comply by paying the monthly premiums as agreed so customer service needs to be forthcoming and answer their phones especially when it comes to cooling or heating. That affects the quality of life especially if someone lives in Texas.

    Water was leaking from the refrigerator and everything went well with the American Home Shield representative when we submitted the claim and in our conversation with the person who arranged for the contractor. But there was a time delay in the repair. We wanted to have the repair done a little bit sooner than when we were able to get it, but that was the only thing I wish we could have changed. We called and tried to get a hold of the contractor, but we couldn't leave a message with his voice mail. The American Home Shield rep tried to get a hold of the contractor, but he was busy with other customers. So we couldn't get service on a Saturday when the problem had occurred on Thursday.

    The contractor sent by American Home Shield had to go in and fix the freezer side, plus the rack underneath for the water. He was very good and knew exactly what the problem was. He explained what he was going to do and what the problem was, and of course we knew what the cost was. Also, the time he spent fixing the problem was good because he was fast and efficient. Since the repair, the performance of our refrigerator has been fine and we've had no problems with it.

    I usually submit a claim online with American Home Shield. If I don't, I'll call which was how I submitted my most recent claim about my pool. I couldn't do it online because it was an emergency. Online, it usually takes a day longer. And if I do it talking to them on the phone, they'll get them out here right away. So, I've had wonderful experience. I love American Home Shield. Their reps are very courteous. I haven't had a complaint on any of them. I've gotten different ones but all of them have been great. They always call the same contractor for my pool which I'm glad because there was one other time they called a different one and I didn't like that one. They got it done very fast and explained everything to me. Since the repair, the pool's been working great and I have not had problems with it.

    I've had American Home Shield for years now and I plan on keeping them. They always send me a survey on the internet and I like that they do that because if there's a complaint, I'd like to put there I would. I recommended them to my son who has a home in Lake City and he blesses me everyday. Every time he has to call American Home Shield, he thanks me cause we don't spend a whole lot of money to call out a repairman.     American Home Shield has been very good for the most part. We've had some plumbing experience. We bought an old house and my realtor daughter said it would be a really good idea to sign up with AHS and it's been a very good relationship since then. Their representatives have all been great. However, when we got the service 6 years ago, they were sending Sears and they're awful. We had a zero deductible contract with AHS for that year and SEARS are ripping AHS off like crazy.

    But when dealing with the private contractors, we've been very satisfied. We've only had one that wasn't really good but the rest of them have been great. We're retired people in our 70s now and not very keen with mechanical stuff. It cost a little bit of money to have a service and but it's a lot better than just getting on the phone or hiring somebody. We know how much it's gonna cost if we do that. Thankfully their service has been good. That's why we recommended them to a lot of people.

    I had difficulty getting through the phones submitting a claim. Whoever I spoke with told me that the best time to call is on the weekend but there are times I would connect 30 minutes on hold. Timing for making phone calls is very hard but once I get online things went well. It's the most effective way. The contractors were great. It took them a little bit to get the parts but what he told me was, "I guess I didn't get the email right away on the confirmation that things are delivered."

    It took longer than expected which was very hard because my whole AC was out and we have babies and children but when they came out, they did a really good job of fixing it. My AC is working perfectly now. I've already recommended them to many people. I have had great experiences and I'm so happy with their service. My brother has rented his house out and has his own home and he's going to get American Home Shield on both of his houses.
