When we bought our house, American Home Shield was included in the deal. Our agent recommended it since we had moved to Alaska and were buying our first home here. They said it was the best option, and we’ve been here about a year.

I submitted a claim online because our heat in our home stopped working. The process was very easy. Before the contractor came, they sent me several things. The technician’s name, the company name, and even a little bio about the company.

The contractor was very respectful and knowledgeable. He had to come back the next day to get a part, some kind of motherboard or component he recognized right away. He said he’d return as soon as he had it, and he did the next morning and fixed it very quickly.

What I liked most was their quick response, knowing that they were coming. They were very good, even though it did take him a whole day to get here.

I've been with American Home Shield for a couple of years, and I’ve had some repairs done. The last one was my HVAC. The first guy who came out diagnosed it and he had to get the part approved. He came back out, replaced the part, and said it was good to go. When I turned on the heater, I was still having the same issue, so I called them back and rescheduled another appointment. A different tech came out about a week later, said the wires were mixed up, he fixed it, and it’s been working fine. I had good interactions with both technicians.

If I could give zero stars, I absolutely would. I have been a Gold Member with American Home Shield (AHS) for months, faithfully paying my premiums, expecting at least basic service when needed. Big mistake. A couple of months ago, my washer and dryer started acting up. I submitted a service request, paid the $125 service fee, and a technician came out. He claimed the issue was fixed—but it wasn’t. The same problems persisted. I called again, and this time, they blamed it on a clogged vent. Fine—I cleaned the vents myself. And guess what? Now my washer and dryer are even worse than before—banging loudly, shaking violently, and practically dancing across my laundry room.

And AHS? They marked my service request as "complete" and left me with completely unusable appliances. I called customer service, and all they did was give me the runaround. No accountability, no real solutions—just an expensive membership fee, an additional service charge, and a laundry machine that sounds like it's possessed. American Home Shield is a complete joke. They take your money, send incompetent contractors, and then abandon you when things go wrong. Save yourself the frustration, the wasted time, and the money—DO NOT use AHS.

Recently, I filed a claim for my oven hood, and it went very well. The contractor was prompt, and their communication was good. It’s been working fine since the repair.

However, our AC stopped working, so we submitted a claim. They sent someone out, but the service provider had the lowest rating on the Better Business Bureau and a terrible reputation. They came out, diagnosed the problem, and said that the entire unit would need to be replaced.

Then American Home Shield told me that they don’t cover the issue. It was a matter of semantics. I don’t remember all the details, but my husband knows them. Essentially, the coil was bad and needed to be replaced. However, they can’t replace the coil, the entire unit had to be replaced.

American Home Shield kept pushing back, saying they only cover the part. But the part couldn’t be replaced without replacing the whole unit. We went round and round with them, it was horrible. In the end, they refused to pay for the full replacement, which was $11,000, and instead offered a buyout of $800. It was bad.

They’ve been fine with the smaller claims, but that one big claim was a different story, they dug in their heels and didn’t want to pay for it. Some claims have been relatively easy to handle, but a couple were unacceptable.

AHS is a good way to cover your house, and when things go wrong, they make an effort to fix it to your pleasings.

My alarm was going off on my hot water heater. I went to the American Home Shield website and filed a claim. It was easy. They told me Third Generation Plumbing and Mechanical would be coming and this company contacted me to give me the name of the technician.

The guy was professional. He looked at it and it was working. He reset it. He said they would have to replace the whole unit because that's not a replaceable item. He wrote up a whole report, called it in, and then gave me an estimate for what it would take to fix it.

American Home Shield can improve on the ease of being able to go online and click on the issue or the problem and that it's taken care of.

I had a bad experience with the technician American Home Shield sent out to repair my refrigerator. Number one, he didn't come with any tools. I'm not an electrician but I know that you need a reader to plug in and let you know the code. This guy came in, looked at it, and said he’s gonna replace the fan. If it’s not the fan, he’ll tackle than bridge when he gets there. He ordered the part. After two weeks, I called up American Home Shield told them I lost my food waiting for that guy to come, and he showed up a week and a half later. It's fixed now, no noises, so I guess he picked the right fan.

They came out to fix a couple of appliances. Stove, washing machine, and dryer. And checked the refrigerator as far as input and output.
I got old appliances. So he told me that a lot of people like old appliances, and they're easy to work on. That's what he did. He explained a lot to me about my washer ‘cause I explained to him it's making a ticking sound. He explained to me, “Well, that's your timer So he took his time.
The dryer I told him it wasn't getting hot, he changed the thermostat, and he took off the aluminum elbow. He explained to me that it was clogged, and he couldn't go further than that. I need to call someone to unclog the air duct cleaner. And my stove, for some reason, the oven door had come off. It's a pulley in there. It came out of line, and he had to put that back in, which he said is unusual but not that unusual. It happens.

The service fee went up. But this time, I felt that I got a little bit better bargain for $100. I'm very unhappy with the price. I've been with American Home Shield for 15 years it goes up every year.

The technician came and diagnosed the problem. However, American Home Shield said that they don't cover it because it's not normal wear and tear. As a result, I had to call somebody outside and do it at my own expense.

Their app is good, and I do use it. However, most of the time, I can't understand their customer service team. The technicians they send are not always top-notch. I would not renew the contract with them, because it takes two to three days to get somebody out here and then additional time to get the approval and the parts. The process of fixing anything takes a long time compared to calling somebody outside to come and do it.

The former home owner had American Home Shield. I made a claim back in January 14th. The vendor that they provided, Chesapeake Appliance Repair, never ever answer the phone. AHS told me that the vendor would be calling me once AHS assigned them to me. He called to say that he was 20 minutes away and that he’s coming to look at the appliances

The claim was for the stove, oven, icemaker, and the display on my refrigerator. I made the request, but my husband was the one who met him to show the appliances. My husband forgot to tell him about the refrigerator display. As soon as he left, I called him to ask if he could come right back. He never responded. After calling him three times with no response, I called AHS to call him because I’m not paying another fee when he just didn’t do what we were asking him to do. AHS also couldn’t get in touch with him.

So, at that point, I googled the company. They have 40+ terrible ratings on Yelp. He got 1 star and 90% of them said they got his name through AHS, with some dating back to 2019. Why in the world would AHS still be dealing with him? I don’t understand how they’re contracting with someone who has a 6-year history of terrible service. I feel like I’m getting penalized for something that AHS should have seen at least four years ago. AHS is still paying him which doesn’t make sense.

The alternative technician came last week for one of the items. He came from GE to fix the oven and the stove, not the icemaker and the display. At this point, I’m working with someone from AHS’ escalation team for the icemaker and display. He’s talked with the guy who would come and do the stove and the oven, and they sent the parts here. But the refrigerator is still not making ice properly and the display is still broken. The escalation guy has been kind and calls me every couple of days, but there’s still no progress. So that’s three months of me waiting and the display is still not done.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for 20+ years, paying them every month, but I’ve been told I need to pay 100 again cause Chesapeake said that they finished it because the guy came out here and put whatever parts on but it’s not repaired. I’m fine with their rate that keeps going up if I can get my stuff fixed. But if it’s going up and I’m not getting the service, what’s the point? There’s also very few things that I’ve needed that isn’t covered in the plan that I have. AHS has made way more money than I’ve used which doesn’t make sense. I have had to go back and forth with them before, but this right here has been the worst.

It’s been a nightmare to me. My husband and I have started researching other companies because this was horrible. I’m stuck holding the bag and dealing with unrepaired appliances while they try to figure out how to get in touch with someone who has a long history of being unreliable.

I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield for my microwave that wasn’t turning on. The submission process was easy, and they provided a very quick service. However, my microwave still isn’t fixed. They’ve sent technicians out three times, and each time I’ve received a different diagnosis. The first technician said it was due to a blown fuse. The second technician said it was the breaker. The third one said that the problem is both on the fuse and the breaker. He said that he would return it to the office to request that I get a new microwave and that American Home Shield would let me know. I haven't heard anything and that has been about a week.

The claim form should have more options that we can choose from, so we could avoid getting a lot of people called out for different services. It costs us $100 every time somebody comes out. With this claim, I have wasted $300 which I could have used to get another microwave for that price.

I received American Home Shield with a home that I bought in 2019. The first year with American Home Shield was so wonderful that I've continued coverage with every property that I've owned since then. If you have an issue, they always try to help you. And if they can't help you, they will immediately find someone who can. They have never let us down, God forbid we have a problem.

I had a recent issue with a furnace that was not actually heating the home. It just wasn't working correctly, and you could smell the exhaust coming in the house. I used the phone to submit a claim because I was having trouble with the online system at that time. I was given the name of the contractor, their phone number, and their address.

The people who came out were great. The first time they came out, they misdiagnosed the problem. But it was very, very cold in our area at that time, so they had to come back out a second time. That time they diagnosed the problem correctly. Since the repair, the furnace works wonderful.

Our heater wasn’t blowing any heat. I submitted a claim and the techs came and inspected it. They found something and then they fixed whatever was wrong with it. After a while, they had to come back because it still wasn’t blowing heat.

The techs were good and I would tell others about how convenient the AHS services are. But I don’t get to pick my own people and I have to stick with the same people even if they didn’t do a good job. American Home Shield has some kind of clause where they have to keep using the same person even though they’re not good. They can’t switch it unless something happens. Techs canceled on me multiple times. They came in and said that nothing’s wrong with my system and that everything’s okay. And then something was wrong with the system.

We also had to wait two days for someone to come out last time, with no heat in the winter. I like how polite the customer service is and how they follow up with you after the service is done. The reps are very helpful and polite. They stick to the rules and they do not go around it.

I also like what they cover, even roofing. They cover more than most companies. I don’t like the price though because the other companies are a lot cheaper than American Home Shield, and they are not willing to budge on discounts.

I have referred several people to American Home Shield. I tell others that about having a peace of mind knowing that you have something if something happens. You save a lot of money. You only pay 118 and 125 or 150 for them to come out. And you don’t have to pay the plumber that fee on top of the labor.

I had an appliance issue. I was upset because the people they sent to fix my oven didn’t screw the parts back in properly. I had been trying to call them to let them know someone needed to come back and fix it. They eventually put the new part in correctly, and now the oven works.

However, the casing or cover isn’t properly attached, and I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve been trying to call to report it, but every time I call, the wait times are very long, and I can’t reach a specific person to address the issue.

It’s very frustrating. Most experiences with American Home Shield are frustrating, and at this point, it’s almost expected. The only upside is that, by the time they finally correct the issue, the vendor at least gets it fixed. I have very limited time since I work in healthcare and spend about 90% of my day with patients.

I don’t have much time to constantly call, be on hold for two hours, and get transferred multiple times to report an issue. Because of this, it takes much longer to get things resolved since you have to go through their entire process to speak to someone.

There have been a few times when I had to send an email and wait two days for a response. The issue I have right now is still not resolved. They repaired the oven at least a month ago, but the cover is still not properly attached. I also understand that in my area, there aren’t many vendors available, so it can take an hour, two hours, or even several days for them to assign someone to address the problem.

It’s sad because they already have a chat feature, but even with that, you have to repeatedly authenticate yourself. No matter how you contact them, you’re asked to verify multiple times. I wish there were more transparency between departments so you would know what’s happening.

I also wish they would inform customers that when a product is replaced, you need to keep your model number and other important information that they don’t collect. I had an incident in the past where I received a brand-new dishwasher, and then that dishwasher broke as well.

Then they told me I need to call others to repair the dishwasher because now it’s under a manufacturer’s warranty. A lot of the information with them is not transparent. You have to do your own research, call multiple times, and even take a day off work, only to be stood up for services.

Then I had to find all that information on the device myself, which was frustrating. When it was installed, they didn’t give me a booklet or any instructions to keep, so I didn’t know how to retain that information. Now, almost a year later, I’m searching for stickers on the device to try to get them to come fix it, because they won’t do it without the model number.

Right now, my oven is still broken, and I don’t know when I’ll be able to get it fixed. I have a two-hour commute and I’m still working at my desk, so I simply don’t have time to call American Home Shield and sit on the phone for three hours. I know that if I do call, that’s exactly what I’ll have to deal with.

At this point, I’m thinking, beggars can’t be choosers. At least my oven is working, even though it wasn’t fixed properly. The framing looks like it might cause another problem, and aesthetically, it’s not pleasing, but at least it works. Before, it didn’t work at all.

I’ve referred a lot of people to American Home Shield because the quality of the service itself is decent, but I definitely don’t mention the headaches that arise when you actually need them to do anything. That’s my experience and where I stand with them.

I had a situation where they accidentally canceled my contract. That’s why I say their customer service is poor. I don’t know how it happened, and I had to re-sign up. It actually worked in my favor, though, because my new contract ended up being cheaper than the original one.

I tried to figure out how that even happened, but I didn’t care because the new contract was cheaper. It makes me wonder why the longer you’re a customer, the more you pay instead of less. That’s the only issue I have with it.

They kept telling me to wait. The technician turned the water off of the house. I’ve been days without hot water and couldn’t wait anymore, so I just pay for it myself. Then they came back to me and denied the claim. They said it cost too much, and it was taking a little over a fourth of what I actually might pay for it. It was terrible.

I’ve had a bad experience with American Home Shield. No one ever came out when I submitted a service request. Apparently, the technician knocked and nobody answered, but I had called him back within a minute of his call. And he told me that he’s already left. I told him it had only been 30 seconds, it’s the middle of winter, and my heat wasn’t working. He didn’t seem to care.

I called American Home Shield. They said they would talk to the other company and get back to me, but neither American Home Shield nor the other company ever followed up.

AHS take your premiums, they take your co-pays, but then they tell you that they don’t have any technicians who can come out and repair. The first technician that they sent out told me that it was gonna be $420 on top of what I already paid to American Home Shield because they weren’t able to do the repair without doing some damage. That is ridiculous to me because I have an access panel. Whenever I asked what to do, the tech would tell me to all AHS and ask for a second opinion.

So, I did that and they said that they don’t have one other extra contractor to send anywhere. I live on the East Coast and 20 minutes south of Philly, so you can’t tell me that there isn’t another contractor you can send out for a second opinion. They decided they were going to give cash in lieu. They wanted to give me $140 and that’s it. I can’t even get another technician to come out and do anything for $140.

They told me to call back and speak to a supervisor. And then they told me that they couldn’t send me to a supervisor because there weren’t any and to call back in the morning. So, I called back. And they said there wasn’t any supervisor because nobody was answering. I was told I was gonna have to wait until somebody calls back.

I’ve been waiting for weeks for people to call me back. They say they’re gonna call or email me back but when I check, no email. They were supposed to have sent me one yesterday before the end of the day. Didn’t happen.

I was speaking to somebody in the escalation supervisory department and I got disconnected and I needed to talk to them again. I got somebody telling me over and over again that they just couldn’t get me over there. Then all of a sudden, an hour and a half into the call, a supervisor calls me on the other line just to tell me that there’s absolutely no way that they can send out a second opinion. They said that because the home warranty says that they can’t. I told them that it wasn’t true because the tech told me to call and ask for a second opinion.

They then told me that my only option is if I want to still have coverage, I have to pay $420 to the original contractor to come out and do the repair, on top of the $100 co-pay and the $250 premium that I pay every month.

I’m divorced and I’m waiting for this house to be sold. It’s got to be put on the market by the courts, and I can’t do it with a broken mixer valve in the master bath shower that only gets scalding hot water and doesn’t get any cold water.

I’ve been a customer since 2007 and I can’t tell how many times I’ve had issues with them over the years where I’ve had to call and make sure that I get my full benefits of what I’m paying for. They are a cheap shoddy operation if they don’t have enough staffing that they have to have people overseas constantly answering the phone and not have anybody here in the United States.

Whenever I get somebody during the day, they’re half asleep because they’re not on our sleeping schedule. Or I call people during the evening to talk to somebody who sounds more alert and then I don’t get anybody because they’re just not open during that time.

I told them I’m gonna be putting this all over Facebook and calling the Better Business Bureau. I’m putting it on Instagram and on TikTok not use American Home Shield ever. Just save your money, save your premiums, don’t ever use that company and do your repairs whenever you can.

Also, if you mess it up on that online tool, you’ve messed it up permanently. You have to call and speak to a person. Especially if you’re gonna be doing more than one item at a time that falls under the same kind of repair, you have to call in. You cannot rely on that online anything. They’re just trying to save money and wanting to charge everybody premiums and not pay or not do whatever they need to do whenever they need to do it. It’s a scam.

AHS are dealing with a lot of people who absolutely will not work with you. You paid money, the premium, the deductible and they will not follow through at all, and there’s nothing you can do about it either. You can just threaten to just say you’re not gonna use them anymore but they don’t care. They’ll lie to you over and over saying that they’ll call or email you and they don’t.

I had a claim with American Home Shield with my oven where the control panel went out. It was gonna cost $700 to replace the electrical panel of the oven. They declined the claim and said the problem was an electrical surge, which is not covered by them for whatever reason.

The electrical is covered by them and since they were not going to replace the control panel of the oven, I was gonna have to replace it. So I needed to know if the electrical was okay. Now, the guy who came to look at the oven never even checked the electrical box. I insisted on him replacing the breaker switch for the oven and he did.

I had no idea how they concluded that it was a power surge, but because I was going to have to replace the oven, I needed to have the electrical checked out, or else I was gonna have the same problem. In the end, I had to pay for a new oven and that was the end of it.

When I put the claim in, AHS called back immediately and set up an appointment of time. The first one was not with Solomon but with Sears. So with Solomon, it was the same thing. I called and they came right out. The tech set up a time that was convenient for me and a couple of days later, he came out and finished it.

I’ve had AHS since 2021 and I’m not happy with them. They’re just like other insurance companies. They look for fine print to figure out a way not to cover stuff. I had another claim with a ceiling fan. The ceiling fan was covered.

When the guy came out, he said he could not fix it and I needed to replace it, which they would cover. However, my ceilings are high, so even though the fan was covered, there was some fine print that said that they don’t provide access to whatever covered items. They wanted me to pay $200 for them to bring a ladder that was high enough for them to get to, which was ridiculous.

That pissed me off. They told me I could take a cash-out of $200 which wasn’t gonna replace anything or fix anything. I really am toying with the idea of dropping this company, and I don’t know that any of the others are any better.

American Home Shield's website is so difficult to navigate, that I normally go look somewhere else but I try American Home Shield first.

I had American Home Shield come over here. I need work done on my roof. And American Home Shield is my home insurance. They should be the ones who would take care of my roof. I shouldn't come out of pocket to have my roof fixed. And because I haven't been able to get anyone, I haven't had the roof fixed, now I have holes in my ceiling. American Home Shield came and looked at the ceiling and said they don’t cover that.

When I moved in here was with American Home Shield, the deductible. And then after I paid that, it should be fixed. But with American Home Shield, you pay the $75, then they come out and look at it. And I have to pay for parts. They did that too when I had to pay for the water heater when the contractors brought it in.

Recently I filed a claim for the dryer. The first person who came misdiagnosed the problem and then made an installation. And I tried to use the machine 10 minutes after he left, and it was worse than when he came. So, I called them. And they sent someone else. The other guy was excellent, except he charged me. I ended up having to pay $800 to have this thing fixed– the drum and labor–in addition to the $75 that I had to pay American Home Shield.

You pay a regular fee to American Home Shield and then you pay the deductible. Then you pay for parts. So, what that means is I could save the monthly fee until I have 2,000 or 3,000 in a separate fund for home repairs rather than pay what I'm paying monthly to keep American Home Shield.

When I can't get any satisfaction with American Home Shield, I go to another company. My experience so far with American Home Shield has not been good at all.

I had a problem with the condensation pump leaking. I went online and filled out that information and that was easy to do. But the techs from Fresh Air was bad. They misrepresented the initial service to me. They told me that the pump was not covered, but it was covered when I called AHS. Then Fresh Air Services changed their tune and said that it wasn’t the pump that wasn’t covered but some other ancillary things. So, they still charged me. They had the pump off at that point so I was obliged to pay them.

If you look on Google Yelp reviews, which I should have done before, there was a lot of very negative reports for Fresh Air Services. They implicate the home warranty company is part of that. I don’t think it’s good for Home Shield reputation to continue to use them. Also, the tech stood over me and said he wouldn’t complete the service until I actually rated him. I couldn’t believe my eyes what he was doing and I was so disappointed. It was very bad.

I bought an older house two years ago so I wanted to make sure I was protected. I got AHS and I think the service itself is great in terms of going through the website and being able to request service. But depending on the age of your house, you should determine whether you think it’s really worthwhile to get a home warranty to start with. In terms of American Home Shield, I thought they’re easy to work with as it relates to that. And certainly, when you talk to them on the phone or use the website, that’s easy to do.

But it’s not completely transparent for each of the various services that you call them out for, what your total cost is going to be to fix it. And it’s depending upon what’s wrong with your equipment. There’s general guidance with respect to that. But you don’t really know until the technician comes to your house and says a part isn’t covered. You end up having to pay over and above what your normal fee is for them to come out.

A tech came out for our washing machine and he replaced the suspension coils because it was knocking on the spin cycle. About two weeks later, it continued to knock, so he came back out, and he said now he believed it was the bearings that are very expensive. He said he would turn in the claim and that he believed it needed a new washing machine.

Then, the dishwasher was leaking. It was rather old, so I also got it replaced. The tech said I needed a new one. I ordered it through American Home Shield, but it was quite an ordeal to get someone to install and haul it away. And they passed that back to me to find someone. They offered me $150, and I couldn’t find anyone at that price. I was on the phone for four hours, but they didn’t find anyone.

They sent out Sears, who said that they only install, not take anything out. I was able to locate a company out of Orlando which is about 150 miles from here, and they replaced the washing machine and took the old one away. The process took about a month. The first company where we ordered it was supposed to bring it and install it, and they got here and he said, “It’s not immediately under the sink. It’s off to the side. We can’t do that.” And that was where the problem started.

Nevertheless, the technicians that came to the house were very professional. It was unfortunate with Sears because I made it very clear. I even sent them pictures, gave them a narrative, told them that the old dishwasher was in place, the new one was here, and that they needed to install and haul away. The guy came and he said, “They only told me that I’m here to fix it.” So, I’ve lost a lot of time, money and energy. The fact that it was passed back to me, I was not at all happy with that. . It has never been this bad.

My realtor talked me into getting American Home Shield. 3 months after buying my home my air conditioner breaks down in the middle of summer in Texas. Everyday in my home was around 100 degrees. I instantly put a service request in with AHS which cost me 100 dollars. They took several days to get back to me to tell me that I would have to find someone out of their network. So I started looking and found someone to come. They told me I would have to call to get prior approval when the tech showed up. The tech showed up and gave his recommendations so I called AHS so that they could talk with him and we could get this ball rolling. They kept me on hold for an hour. The tech had other calls so he had to leave. By the time they answered he was gone and had to end up scheduling another service call.

Since it was several days out I went and bought 2k worth of portable air conditioning since we are over a week now of 100 degree temps in my house. When the tech finally came back I ended up getting AHS on the phone after a 45 minute wait, and he explained to her what needed to be done and the price she then said to email the quote. So he left and I emailed the quote then received an email back stating that the tech had to call in. So I drove down to the AC repair place 25 minutes away and got on a conference call with AHS. I ended up doing this 4 times over a 3 week period with AHS adding new hoops for either me or the company to jump through.

I finally gave up and paid the 7k out of pocket. The AC repair company said this is why they don't normally deal with AHS because they have several customers who were waiting MONTHS to get their stuff approved. 2 weeks later my hot water heater broke. I decided it wasn't even worth it to call AHS and paid the repair guy 2.2k just to fix it, when I explained about my AC to him and the problems with AHS he shook his head and said that his company almost 200 customers that have been waiting on AHS over the past year since he's been there. This company is the closest thing to a criminal organization that exist outside of a movie. They need to be investigated.

I could not be more frustrated with American Home Shield and I've only had them a few weeks. I moved into a home and heard good reviews about this company so when asked by my realtor to determine who I'd like a year policy with I chose AHS. Upon moving in my house I found out my dishwasher isn't working, so I promptly filed a claim. The "pro" they contract with in my area has, solely, 1-star reviews, is NOT accredited with the BBB, and the lengthy horror stories of referred AHS customers for their servicing is horrifying. I immediately called to try and seek an alternative contractor for the job, to no avail. AHS not only doesn't care that their ONLY contractor in the San Antonio area has HORRENDOUS reviews, but I could not, I repeat, could NOT talk to any representative based in the United States.

Four "escalation" supervisors have called me, and all are based in the Philippines. They've told me so. I am appalled at the poor customer service and poor representation this company has, it clearly does not care who they contract with, otherwise negative and poor experiences by its customers would alter its contractor partnership. I would also note that I am aware, companies will generally generate mixed reviews from both happy and unhappy customers so I would assume to find both in a thriving business, FALSE. A's Appliance Repair Co. SOLELY has negative, 1-star reviews. Not a single satisfied customer. I am ready to cancel this gold standard plan I bought and venture elsewhere. AHS does not offer alternative contractors, buyer beware.

American Home Shield has been great, except for the fact that I have just had seven days for my washing machine, since February 12, only to find out the motor is gone. I got ahold of some rude contractors through Sears but then I got ahold of some very nice ones too.

I submitted a service request February 12th and AHS was predicting that they’ll have the motor installed by March 28th. They were supposed to hurry up on that motor order. I was already upset because Sears Repair gave an 8:00 to 5:00 window. And then as the day progresses, that window shortens. They gave time like between 9:30 and 11:30. At 12:30, I was wondering what was going on. I called them and they said the techs will be here by 2:30. By 3:30, I asked them only to be told that they had to reschedule for the next day. I get that but I had already made all my appointments from Friday so I had to change all those to Saturday. There wasn’t any way I could be here Saturday. I had to get somebody over here to babysit my house.

Then I got ahold of one bad guy. He looked at my dishwasher and said that it had black mold on the ring and I needed a new washer. He ordered two more parts, which were not the right ones to get it running fully.

When AHS subcontracts services, I call them asking for updates and they say that the vendors will call. When I had a problem, they told me that I had to call the vendors directly. After it really became a problem, then they started getting involved again. But again, once you make that service call, they’re out of the loop.

AHS is not my first home warranty and it seems like I have to fight about getting things. They say it’s covered and then it comes down to saying it’s dirty or that I didn’t maintain things. But this is Florida and there’s gonna be cockroaches. I don’t care how clean you are and I can no longer pull that stuff out from the wall. So it was more dirty than I would normally let it get. But enough for it to void the warranty from AHS. They tell you everything you wanna hear and then when it comes to the nitty gritty, they try to get out of it

The delays, misdiagnoses, and repeated technician visits have now extended to over 43 days, and my washing machine remains unrepaired. It is unacceptable that I have had to go through multiple service appointments without any resolution.

Here is a detailed timeline of events: February 3, 2025: I raised a service request with AHS after my washing machine started leaking. February 6, 2025: A technician visited but stated that the issue was with the outer pipes and refused to work on it, claiming that he was not a plumber. February 17, 2025: AHS scheduled a plumber under a free service request. The plumber diagnosed the issue and confirmed that the problem was with the washing machine itself, not the pipes. February 18, 2025: Another technician was sent, who finally acknowledged that the machine required new parts. AHS ordered the parts and scheduled a repair once they arrived.

February 23, 2025: The parts were delivered, but the technician did not schedule an appointment until March 3, 2025—an unnecessary delay.

March 3, 2025: The technician attempted to install the new parts but failed to fix the machine, stating that it was still not functional. He asked us to wait until the next day for further updates. March 11, 2025: AHS now claims that the part has arrived, but the technician is not available until March 18, making the total repair time 43 days and counting, with no guarantee of resolution.

This absurd delay in service, coupled with multiple failed repair attempts, has caused significant inconvenience to my household. It is clear that AHS is prioritizing cost-cutting over customer satisfaction, refusing to replace a machine that is clearly beyond repair. I demand an immediate resolution—either a competent repair within a few days or a full replacement of the unit as per my service contract. I expect this matter to be escalated immediately and resolved without further delays. I look forward to your urgent response.

We had American Home Shield when we purchased the house. Our policy covers our well, which is our first well, so we wanted coverage in case any issues arose with our household well. Recently, I’m having issues with my washing machine. During the cycle, it would stop and hang, and I had to unplug it to reset it and get it working again.

I went to my user site to request the service, paid the co-pay, and then Sears called to schedule. I wasn’t home, so my wife let the technician in. He checked the machine, ran his analysis, and reviewed the data. The technician said he couldn’t find anything wrong with it. He didn’t fix it, he didn’t replace any parts. My wife said he used a tool to analyze it, but it didn’t work, so he wasn’t able to complete the diagnosis.

The problem isn’t consistent. Sometimes it runs a cycle fine, and other times it hangs. When it hangs, I have to unplug it for 30 seconds, then try to get it to drain, sometimes it takes two or three tries. Most of the time, it functions.

For the most part, we’ve been satisfied. Otherwise, we would have canceled the policy. They’ve worked on our furnace a few times. We had one hiccup when the heat went out and we needed emergency service, they didn’t cover it because we hadn’t called them first.

Other than that, that was the only issue I had. I wish they had covered it since we had no heat in the middle of winter, so I called a local guy who came within an hour and got us working.

I’ve reached out to American Home Shield by telephone twice now to cancel my policy as I sold my home in December. I called once in December (Which I recorded) and then again appx. two months later when I noticed that they had still been charging me. Due to my lack of confidence in their integrity, I also advised American Express not to accept charges and to dispute charges according to my circumstances. Now I am receiving yet another letter demanding payment. This company is simply incorrigible and despicable. I would like correspondence confirming the closure of this account and a refund of what they have stolen from me.

It's been okay. I've been dealing with my dishwasher issue for about over a year and a half now. You guys have sent out people who are mediocre, can't diagnose properly, and it's still ongoing. The dishwasher guy is coming out again today. So I've called American Home Shield to say there's something wrong with this dishwasher, but you guys keep sending out more and more people. So that's been a very frustrating process. I've had somebody come out and look at this dishwasher over 10 times at this point. It's ridiculous.

One of the contractors was incredibly rude. He wouldn't even tell me what he was gonna report back. I've never experienced that where the guy won't tell me what's wrong with the dishwasher or whatever they come out for. That one guy just would not listen to me, and he just kept arguing. He ended up being completely wrong. The one that we're dealing with right now, they're good. They're nice.

I had a recent claim with the plumbing. The issue was a leak under our kitchen sink. And so, I submitted the claim through the AHS website, which is very user-friendly. And then they assigned it to 3rd Generation Plumbing. They gave me a time schedule, a window of about six hours, and they showed up on the fourth hour of that window.

And when they came out, they showed up with the identification and the uniform for 3rd Generation. And they completed the job very well. They were very professional. And it’s functioning 100% now.

So, American Home Shield was recommended by several friends who also have it, and I’ve had it for a little over a year. And I like that it’s quick, it’s easy to get, and it’s very reputable every time I’ve used it. So, it’s definitely worth getting if you live alone or if you are not handy and you wanna have something to protect your home, the appliances, and the electrical.

I had a furnace that was no longer producing any air. There was a valve that needed replaced and a switch, so the gentleman from Foxcroft who came out was very professional and he answered all my questions. He came quicker than he originally was supposed to, and he was one of the better HVAC guys. I’ve used to own a lot of houses and did a lot of work with people, and this guy was very thorough. I appreciated their efforts.

He knocked a little bit of the soot off of the inside of the actual valves, and you can see the corrosion on the inside, and he got us a temporary solution. I reached back out to AHS saying, “Hey, the guy said this is going to work for a very short time,” and I was told that I wasn’t covered for this and I needed to pay another X amount of dollars.

It was very difficult to communicate, saying, “Hey, my furnace had an issue. We renewed our home warranty. My wife’s an agent. She recommends you guys to everybody. We like working with you, but my furnace isn’t fixed, I have a snowstorm.” I just got back in town, and I don’t know what the real deal is, if I should fiddle with the furnace myself or I should call the guy back out. Nevertheless, every other instance I’ve had with them has been great.

I had a plumbing issue that included the showerhead for my master bathroom, the water heater, and a broken jacuzzi faucet. Swat Plumbing only check and said everything was okay. They said that the faucet was hardly handled by the homeowner, that was why it was broken, and so it was not covered. This was an old faucet have been using for a long time and it never broke. It was nonsense, and I did not like it. Nobody wants to break up anything, and that was normal wear and tear. It broke during use.

Also, I have two bathrooms and both of them showered when going to shower. The hot water went off for 20 seconds to 1 minute. They check this and said, “No, it is okay. Everything is fine.” But still I’m having the same problem. When we go to shower, there is no hot water coming out. He checked that water heater too, and he said it was not working fine. I don’t know what kind of technician they send. I have American Home Shield for my home in Texas and before that, four years ago, I had them for 13 years in another home in California. He said it had something to do with the drum or the clutch. He had all the parts to repair the washer, but American Home Shield told him not to fix it. They said the washing machine has to break down completely before they could do anything. I reached out to AHS and they said that my coverage does not cover repairs, only replacement. I told them I wanted my $100 back.

I’ve been with them for four years. It would have been better if they would have reached out after I described in my request that it was making these noises, and said they don’t work on things that are noisy and that it has to be completely broke, that would have saved me the money. Also, one time I got an email about a tune-up for my furnace. They sent a guy out, looked at it, and then he left. He didn’t clean anything nor did he tune up anything.

It’s frustrating, to say the least, but American Home Shield has been trying to fix my HVAC for the last two and a half years and it still isn’t fixed. Every few days after it supposedly gets repaired, the unit just becomes a solid ball of ice in the wintertime. People always ask me if it does that in the summer, too, but I don't really know because my house is in the shade and I don't need the air conditioning all that much.

Whatever they’re doing just isn't working. Four Seasons actually suggested that the unit be replaced, but that was denied, so they’ve just been changing out the same parts over and over and over again. You’d think after two and a half years someone would have figured out how to fix this.

I can’t even say it’s American Home Shield necessarily, and overall, I’ve been mostly satisfied with them. I've had the warranty for seven years and my other claim experiences have been just fine. It’s really just this one issue over the HVAC.

I’ve had American Home Shield for 15 years, but it’s getting worse. At one point, it was a solid warranty, but now the service has gone down and the prices have gone up. For the seasonal AC tune-up, the process was pretty easy and they did a good job, but honestly, it’s definitely gone downhill lately.

I just had a dryer replaced, and I had to be at the house for 17 different appointments and over 40 different phone calls. This took 10 months. I was told multiple times to clean the dryer vent, but that was another $300 wasted. They wanted to go by that diagnosis, but 10 months and 5 companies later, it wasn’t even fixable and they had to replace it. I paid $1,000 in monthly premiums over those 10 months plus a deductible, I could have replaced the dryer myself and saved the hassle.

The misdiagnosis problem is a huge concern. I was told one time that they needed to replace the whole valve in the shower for $1,500, it was a $6 washer that fixed the problem. One contractor told me he was not allowed to write that something needed to be replaced because American Home Shield would give them a demerit. In another house, I have one active repair for a water heater that’s been over a month. They want to nickel and dime and try to find these little parts to fix it, but there hasn’t been hot water for over a month and I got tenants in there.

The people answering the phones are nice, but they’re just on a script. There’s no common sense or critical thinking and the notes on their end suck. No supervisors are available, and I had to explain this story brand new about 30 different times because nobody knew what was going on. I’m a Realtor, so when people ask me what warranty to get, it’s hard to recommend. If you have the money to replace an appliance, you might want to just replace it yourself.

I’ve had two claims with American Home Shield, the first was for my washer and the most recent was my garage door, and submitting claims was horrible. I’m not a difficult customer, but they really put a difficult time on me. Doing it online wasn't self-explanatory, and you can’t just call customer service to request a time, which makes it hard. I felt like I was given the runaround, calling a 1-800 number to people who weren't able to help me. I couldn't even get to a supervisor, I was told I had to wait 24 to 48 hours, and calling at all times of the day didn't make it any better.

I was very upset about the washer. I was notified it was going to take 10 to 15 weeks to get it fixed, and I just don't know why you would make someone wait that long. That’s what we pay for a warranty and insurance for. I’m a single mom, and for almost 10 weeks, I had to go out to the laundromat. I asked if they were going to cover the laundromat costs, and they said no. They weren't willing to pay me for what the washer was worth, either. I actually felt bad for the technician who came out because he had to take the whole thing apart just because American Warranty wouldn’t pay out.

Then my garage stopped working. I explained it was stuck, but they said it looked like it was working fine, so they couldn't fix the problem. They told me if it happens again, they’d have to see it while it’s actually happening, but they won't show up when it's happening. You have to schedule a 24 to 48-hour appointment. They did show up, but again, they just said, “It doesn’t sound like it’s a problem.” I really feel like I've been given the runaround. I don't think it's the technicians, overall, it's just Home Shield warranty.

I think American Home Shield needs to put themselves in the shoes of the consumers. There's a warranty issue for a reason, and just giving people the runaround isn't the right thing to do. The time spent waiting just wasn't worth it. I would not recommend it to a friend. I’ve actually told my friends, “Don’t do it because there’s no point. You might as well just go get a new washer.”

American Home Shield offers timely response and reliable service from professional technicians.

Signup wasn't something amazing, just adequate. Everybody wants something less expensive, but I think AHS is pretty good compared to what I would have to go through if I were repairing items individually. It pays for itself after one visit. When they did my dishwasher, it paid for half a year what it would have if I had to go through LG. It’s value for money, hands down.

My most recent claim was my dryer, which was making a horrible noise. I had a repair done to my washing machine at the same time. It was cutting off because it wasn’t sensing the door lock. I submitted a claim online through the app – It was very easy.

The contractor I had was extremely good. He replaced the pulley for the dryer and a part in the washer’s circuit board. He was cooperative and took care of my property. He even alerted me to get my cat, who had snuck into the laundry room when he was in there. When he looked at the dryer, I got out my Shark vac and he helped me clean out the little dust bunnies inside the cavity.

The appliances are working fine now, but I’m gonna wait to see about a noise I sometimes hear in my washer. Another thing is when the cycle is over, I would have a one-second count and an arrow that says push to start the cycle – I didn't have that before. It might be that when he put that new part in, that's how it responds.

I appreciate the respect for my time and not dragging it out unnecessarily. They called me quickly after I had put in the ticket, scheduled it according to what would work for me, and made sure that, since we knew what was wrong, he was able to order the part so that when he came, he had everything.

This is the second time I've had American Home Shield but I don't know if I've ever gotten them to pay a claim. They seems to do a wonderful job with relationship management as long as you don't need anything from them. There's a very cheery welcome call and they wanna make sure that everything is going well for you as long as they don't have to pay for anything. But if you put in service, they're gonna fight you tooth and nail. They do a wonderful job sending emails and making sure that you're all set up for failure. It's really easy to submit a claim they're not gonna take care of for you.

I have two water heaters that are sitting right next to each other, but it turns out that they're on separate circuit panels. I just bought his house amd the homeowner had turned off the breakers. I found one and expected that to turn both water heaters on but it didn't. I thought the breakers were on and there was a water heater not working, so I put in a claim for a water heater. Requesting service is easy enough. I went on the AHS website, paid my $100 for the service fee, and then they sent someone out.

The technician came out and said, "It's cracked and the element is burned out.“ AHS said that it must have been an existing condition, so they’re gonna charge me $1850 for a new water heater." I said, "I don't think you are." I then put in a service call for an electrician. He came out and found the breaker on a separate panel that I wasn't aware was here. He flipped it on and my water heater started working.

I did some research on the company who came. The first guy comes out and told me that my water heater was totally jacked and not gonna work anymore. That wasn't true. They were willing to sell me a water heater for $1000 around American Home Shield who wanted $1850, which was shady. I looked them up on Google and there were 17 bad reviews, a lot of which had accused this company of stealing while in the customer's home. As a relatively informed consumer, I wouldn't hire a company with that many complaints for theft

I wondered what American Home Shield sent me and it seemed like tenement housing. They do the absolute bare minimum they can to keep it legal so that they don't get hit with landlord lawsuits. They treat their tenants well enough so that they don't leave and provide them the bare minimum. If you know something breaks down, you're gonna have to fight long and hard to get it fixed. Our entire interaction was done in the first week. They didn't successfully resolve my claim. They sent out a sketchy company and I had to pay another $100 to get someone to come out and go, "There's another electrical panel and I'll flip a breaker." I spent $200 just to figure that out.

They talked a good game and they were very responsive, but if you're looking for actual results, good luck. You may or may not get them, but you're gonna have a clear and cut case. They're not gonna cover it. You're better off calling your own contractors who will do a decent job and paying the money if you can even remotely afford it.

I've been with American Home Shield for going on six years. They give me peace of mind that if something goes out, I don't have to struggle to get someone to come, or if someone cheats or rips me off with the job they will do. Right now, you can call anybody but you don't know what kind of service they’ll provide. There are two setbacks with AHS, though. First, you have to wait 72 hours before someone can come and see what's going on. Then you have to wait another period, God knows how long, until they repair it. Second, their service fee keeps climbing. That is the thing that might deter me from signing back up with the American Home Shield in the future.

The exhaust fan in one of the bathrooms wasn't working at all. The light was coming on, but the motor wouldn't turn on. I talked to someone at American Home Shield to submit a claim, and I explained it to him. I even said that the second exhaust fan is making noises and is probably gonna be going out soon. They say, "We will cover both." But the technician from J21 Electric Services wouldn't touch one of the fans. He said, "It's still working, so we won't do anything."

I asked him if he hears the noises. I also said, "AHS told me they cover it. You don't wanna make two service calls?" He said, "No, it has to be completely out before we can touch it." So he just repaired one fan. He tried to start the other with whatever tool he had. He said the voltage meter used to check if power goes through is not working. We claimed it on February 2nd but didn't get it until the end of February. The other exhaust is working fine. The tech said he had to order a new motor. It came with a little housing that fit where it’s supposed to.

The workmanship was excellent. However, it took a month to get a 5-minute job done. I also got numerous text messages saying, “I'll be there next Tuesday." Next Tuesday comes, nothing happens. Another message says, "I'll be there following Tuesday," but nothing happened either. As far as being friendly and approachable, the tech did an excellent job. He was very apologetic, too.

We filed a claim, and American Home Shield initially told us they only had a couple of vendors. They said it would be the following week before anyone could even come out to diagnose the issue. We told them we were a family without hot water in the middle of winter, and that wasn’t going to work for us.

They tried to find someone else, and we ended up contacting the vendor ourselves and asked them to please come out and get things started before the weekend. They came out, diagnosed the problem, said we needed a new hot water heater, and said they would install it through American Home Shield.

The vendor told us that American Home Shield ordered the hot water heater. American Home Shield told us that the vendor ordered it. I don’t know who actually ordered it. By about day nine, we still didn’t have hot water.

The contractor was supposed to come out to make the repair and called us that morning to say the hot water heater had just arrived. He said American Home Shield ordered the type that goes in a garage, the tall, thin one. But we needed the short, wider one that goes in the crawl space.

That meant the vendor would have to order another one through American Home Shield, which would put us an additional nine or ten days again without hot water in the winter. I asked if they could get a hot water heater themselves, and he said they could, but it wouldn’t be through American Home Shield.

I told him we were desperate and needed hot water in our home. I have two daughters and my wife, and we hadn’t been able to shower at home for 10 days. We asked him to get a hot water heater, and he was able to get one and installed it that same day. When I called American Home Shield to explain what happened, they said we could do a cash in lieu option.

I paid the vendor either $1,700 or $1,900. American Home Shield said the best they could offer for cash in lieu was a little over $300. We had already been without hot water for nine or ten days and paid over $100 in service fees, and they were only offering less than $400. I refused that and said it wasn’t good enough and that I wasn’t accepting it.

I kept calling back. One person told us they could refund the service charge and give us a small credit on the next month’s bill. I said that wasn’t necessary and that we probably weren’t going to keep American Home Shield after how we were treated. By that point, I had already declined the cash in lieu offer of around $300, and she said there was nothing else she could do. We were basically stuck because we chose to go our own way with the contractor.

I asked to speak with a supervisor at that time. A supervisor called me back a day or two later and essentially said the same thing. After that, I hung up and waited until the following week. Then I called back again and asked them to issue another cash in lieu offer.

That time, the offer was a little higher, so I accepted it. I did ask for the service fee to be refunded, but they said they couldn’t refund it because the contractor had actually come out. My plan now is to cancel American Home Shield before the next payment is due.

As far as heating and air goes, we’ve had issues before with delays and not being able to get a contractor out. It seems like they don’t have enough contractors in our area who want to work with them. The plumber even told me he was probably going to end his relationship with American Home Shield as well.

I originally started with Rush Heating & Cooling, and I’m not pleased with them at all. Eventually, they offered to replace the unit. I asked for a second opinion, and J&S came out and did a few things. The furnace was working intermittently, which is why I didn’t agree with a full replacement.

I ended up calling my own HVAC technician, and they replaced a part that neither J&S nor Rush had replaced. Since then, it’s been working. I don’t really know what was going on, but at this point I’m considering cashing out on the furnace, and I’m not sure I’ll stay with American Home Shield.

I’m not unhappy with my experience overall, as long as it’s not related to HVAC. Everything else has worked, but HVAC just hasn’t. My experience with customer service varies. Because of this issue, I’ve had to make multiple calls, and I know I’m not as patient when I’m not getting good service or when there’s a communication gap.

I built casinos in town, so I searched for apprenticeships. I did not do it because I didn’t have my time, and that was how I got the warranty. The first contractor couldn’t figure the big old mess out. He did not know what he was doing. He was trying to blame the electricity and there wasn’t any. I even took pictures of the meter. Finally, American Home Shield said that they were going to send out another tech. And if he found the same thing, it was going to be on me. I said that the dryer still wasn’t working, and it works on every position except by normal.

The last one who came out, ADA Repair, fixed it. The tech said that the circuit breaker was out and the electricity was there. They said they were ordering a tumbler and the circuit board, and they were waiting for the last part. But, I had not heard from them in a week, and it has been going on for almost a month without the dryer.

It wasn’t working, so he corrected that by hooking up the other side and then it went to work. He knew his business. The boy started out in Texarkana that morning, and it was about 8 o’clock that evening and he called to know if I was there. So, he came out. I refer everybody that buys a house to go and get American Home Shield. I’ve got two houses on it, and their price is the best thing.

In these first couple of months, we’ve found AHS to be very beneficial. We had Chris, the vendor that came out and he had to replace the shutoff valves on the washing machine. Where the washing machine was attached, he had to cut out some of the drywall to access what he needed to do, but he didn’t do drywall repair. Another company was assigned to do the job, and they decided that they weren't going to do it, and whoever I spoke with when I called then assigned Haywood Handyman to come out and he repaired the drywall. It's been easy to get ahold of customer support. Sometimes it takes a few minutes or they call back, but I haven't had a problem. I liked that the guy from Haywood Handyman was flexible with the schedules, was a pleasant person, and did good work. There was nothing lacking. It’s only been a couple of months, but it’s worked for us. We’ve had a couple of things that needed to be repaired, and they were all done well. So, paying the premium and only having to pay the $100 call fee has saved us a great deal of money and we’ve benefitted from it.

American Home Shield has been great. My recent claim was with my HVAC, where American Home Shield sent R.E. Graves Heating & Air out. I had a problem with the system even coming on. And so, the technician came out and did something real quick. And he thought he fixed it. And he went back to pick his tools, and he said it’s already acting weird. So, he went back in. And then he ended up troubleshooting it further. Took a couple of hours. He ended up replacing another part, which was a fairly expensive one. And he had to wire it directly instead of the old part, which would have been a lot easier to run. It was some kind of a controller.

But he was very professional. I know that the contractors don’t get paid as well through American Home Shield as they would if they had gone directly. So, I fully expected that this guy could have said, “Look, I fixed it once. It’s done. They’re only giving us 60 bucks.” But he stuck to it and got it right, I think, partly because we had an infant in the house and it was winter, and it was cold. But I appreciated the fact that he stuck to it until it was correct.

I acquired American Home Shield when I bought my beach house in Selbyville, Delaware. And I continued that and have renewed that every year because the service has been pretty good. And so, I also started it with this house as well.

I like their responsiveness. It may not always be really quick that they get somebody out, but they try instantly. And sometimes it’s fast. I also like that it’s 100 bucks per repair. And I usually don’t call them if it’s something that’s gonna cost me less than 100 bucks. So, I can save a little bit of money that way.

The only thing with them was that, in my condo, they came out and said I needed a new air conditioner. And then they came back out and said it was an unauthorized repair, and that they're not gonna replace it. So, I complained.

And I think the only reason that I got it done was because I threatened to cancel my account. And I had just reinstated it. And the lady told me that they would give me everything back, and they would replace my air conditioner.

So, I understand that everybody has to make money, but that was a very unprofessional comment under the circumstances. And it told me quite clearly that they're gonna do everything they can to just make money and not replace what needs to be replaced. And that frustrated me.

I was having an issue with the water heater. It kept clicking off. And then they only take one shower. And the heating element was going out. So, the technician switched the heating element out. And I guess there are some other electronics. And it seemed to be working okay, but it clicked off a couple of times since then. I did have an appointment for Tuesday, but I didn’t have an issue for that. I told him to wait until we got back from vacation, which is about 10 days from now, to make sure that it was okay.

So, I didn’t know if it was the electricity that was cutting in and out. Maybe it tripped the breaker on the water heater itself. So, I’m gonna check it when I get back to see if it’s okay. If it is, then I don’t need them to come back out again.

The only issue I’ve ever had is that the vendors were in Tyler, and I’m actually 30 miles north of Tyler. So, it’s probably a 45-minute drive for them. So, it’s not like they can get there the next day or within 48 hours. It’s usually about three or four days. But they were awesome. They did a great job.

I also had an issue with my air conditioner that went out during the summer, and it took about 10 days for them to come out. And they had to come out five times. So, I would call the vendor, and AHS would also call them. Because they’re 45 minutes away, and they will be out in three or four days. Well, if you don’t have any hot water or you don’t have AC, three to four days is a long time.

But I like the peace of mind of having American Home Shield. I like that if you have a problem or issue, you have someone to call.

Island Breeze came out to diagnose and replace a TXV valve in my HVAC system. But this has not been completed yet. The service tech noted that the wire that hooks to the air conditioning into the breaker box was not the right gauge, and therefore, it was unsafe for them to do so. They walked me through the whole process. They were very good about it. And they notified American Home Shield of the issue, and American Home Shield redirected the ticket to an electrician with Modern Mechanical.

But I have been dealing with this now for almost three weeks. They did not notify me that it was redirected until I called in just to get a status, and then they told me that the ticket was assigned to an electrician from Modern Mechanical. They would reach out to me and schedule an appointment, which Modern Mechanical did. They sent out an inept, very shady electrician who looked at it and said that the wire was fine, no matter how much I explained that it was tripping my breaker. I have to reset it frequently in the summertime. And I thought he was making a mistake. We went on speakerphone with American Home Shield, where the electrician was saying that the wire was fine, and that they could get around it if American Home Shield would just assign the HVAC part of the repair to Modern Mechanical.

I was uncomfortable with this. So, after they left, I reached out to a friend of mine who does construction with an electrical background. He said it needed to be repaired and replaced, upgraded. And I called American Home Shield back, saying I would like another electrician to come out because I had very bad vibes from the one from Modern Mechanical. He didn’t listen to the problems, and I think he gave them a line of crap. AHS said it’s not their policy to do that and that they’re gonna go with Modern Mechanical. And I asked them if I could get a third person out here since they got one that says it needed to be replaced, one that said it doesn’t need to be replaced. And they said that they don’t do that. And they’re going with the electrician.

So, they reassigned it to Island Breeze. Island Breeze’s office manager called American Home Shield, explained the whole thing that they cannot put this particular part, replace it with that wire, because it will continue to blow the fuse and damage this part that has to be replaced.

So, I hired my own electrician. He just came out to the house yesterday. He showed me the codes and looked everything up. He told me that this should have never been left when American Home Shield replaced my HVAC unit in 2018. Because the old unit was a smaller unit, and they replaced it with a bigger unit, and the wire that was there from the house is not up to code.

And I have been following American Home Shield. I called them Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday morning, Wednesday afternoon, and have been shuffled. They told me I was gonna have a supervisor call me back on Tuesday, by the end of the day. And then when I called back Wednesday morning, they said it’s 24 to 48 hours. And I told them that my first call was on Monday. And they said that they never logged it that I wanted to have it elevated.

So, I finally got a call back today, and it wasn’t from a supervisor. It was from the resolution department. Yesterday, when I called in the afternoon, I talked to a different department. It was probably the worst time I’ve ever had trying to explain something to somebody. They said that the notes say it’s an electrical problem, so then it’s the HVAC that has to replace it. So, I told them that’s not it. They’re just not understanding.

So, on today’s call, I told them I’ve hired my own electrician. They’re gonna come out. And I’m paying out-of-pocket for something that I should never have had to pay out-of-pocket for. And this is not a cheap fix, because it was an American Home Shield job in 2018. In 2022, I filed an electrical complaint, and it was never resolved. They never came back out, And now, here, we are in 2025 doing it all over again. And the best I got was, “Well, we can’t pay for your electrician.”

And I asked them if they could get me another electrician, and I’m willing to wait for their electrician. But they said that they can’t guarantee what they’re gonna say. So, I told them that three electricians have said it needs to be replaced, and they were only listening to one who is trying to drum up business, and I think that’s beyond fair business practices. So, I called BS on this. And they said that I could file a complaint against them, which I did because I don’t think that’s right.

And so, by the end of the day, AHS is going to refund half of my service fee. I still have to pay out of pocket to have an electrician come out to replace the wiring. And Island Breeze has been very helpful. I called and talked to them, and they told me what I needed to do and what it would take to get it back through once I give them the receipt, the invoice, and letting them know that the wire was changed. And Island Breeze said that they'll get the part as soon as the electrical part is done because they can’t order the part yet, and American Home Shield won’t reimburse them for that until the electrical part is done.

So, I told them that according to AHS, it doesn’t have to be done. I’m so confused and angry at this point. They said that AHS will not release the funds until such time that my electrician is out. And this was even before they knew I hired my own electrician. So, I’m getting conflicting information from them, but Island Breeze had agreed to get the part as soon as they can and come out and fix it once the electrical is done.

Having American Home Shield is a peace of mind. It makes me feel really good that I have that protection if something goes wrong. And I like how easy it is. It’s not a complicated process to get the contractor here. And they were here quickly to get the problem resolved.

So, recently, our heat was not coming on and it was very cold. It was like in the negative degrees here. We woke up one morning, and it’s cold in here. And we were trying to turn the thermostat up, and it wouldn’t turn on. And so, we went out, and we thought maybe it was a fuse.

And so, I thought I’d reach out to American Home Shield and get somebody out here to look at it. And then when the US Comfort Solutions came out, they said the motherboard had been fried for some reason. So, they needed to order one, and they did.

It took about 5 days. In the meantime, we kind of survived on our wood-burning fireplace to heat the house. But when the motherboard came in, they came right out and replaced it. And now, we’ve got heat back. Everything is functioning and operating perfectly.

So, the contractor was extremely knowledgeable. He actually knew our family from my father-in-law, who is a builder. So, he knew him personally. So, that was kind of weird. He was like, “Why didn’t you just call your dad?” And we told him that since we got American Home Shield, we’ll just use it.

But he was very professional. He was very upfront with what it was gonna be, and the delay that there might be because the part had to come from Michigan. And we also had a lot of snow and a lot of cold. So, it was gonna take a little while for the part to get here. But he would communicate with us almost every other day or so to say that they haven’t forgotten about us. So, he was very communicative.

And when I submitted the claim, I logged on to my account through the computer and submitted it electronically. The site was extremely user-friendly. It categorized things. It was a little difficult to figure out what it was called. Because everyone kept calling it an HVAC, but I think it might have been called something different on their site. And so, I hope I picked the right thing. But at least, it was in the right category.

So, American Home Shield is definitely a good investment, especially on an older home like ours. Because we have used it several times in the course of the two years we’ve been here. And it’s always been a very easy process. The claims go through quickly. And we’ve gotten back on board a lot easier than if I had to call a contractor myself.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for at least 12 years. My washer wasn’t draining, and the first time A/C Pros Kingman came out, they diagnosed the issue. Then, another week went by. They ordered a temperature sensor, the part showed up, then I had to wait another week, got ahold of them, and scheduled another appointment.

Then they came out and replaced the part. However, that didn’t fix it. I waited for another week for that report to come out and the parts get ordered for the pump. We were pushing for almost two months on this thing, and, finally, they got the pump replaced. But my washer is rusting apart, so I don’t know how long it’s going to last. What probably plugged that pump up were the chunks of rust falling down in there.

It’s like pulling teeth trying to get ahold of them, and the delays in between each trip were ridiculous. They have 24 to 48 hours to report. They wait that full time. Then you got to wait to get ahold of somebody. It’s just the way it’s set up. They answer the phone every time I call, but then you can’t get ahold of them neither. We went for a month without a washer and that was not a good.

Our refrigerator is very old. We've had repeated calls to AHS for repairs over the last several years. And this trouble started back in December. The refrigerator leaks and it doesn't defrost. It fills up with ice. Then there was also a broken shelf.

And we've had this leaking problem for a few years, and periodically would fix it. The refrigerator is old that parts of it are just kind of decaying from age. And so, this time, I think some sort of a drain hose was replaced. And that made the leaking better but didn't eliminate the problem. It started to build up ice again. We had trouble opening the freezer shelf because of ice building up in the bottom in places where it's not supposed to be.

Meanwhile, we were also waiting on the shelf to be replaced. Because that shelf was on order and we still hadn't really corrected the leaking problem, and it had gone on for a long time, I decided to take a cash-out settlement from AHS, which ended up being really small, and so we're gonna take that ref out of service and get a new one.

We're going to the store today to order a new one, and that'll be in before the month's over, I think. And at that time, we'll send you the information about the new refrigerator. And I think Appliance Repair did fine. The refrigerator is 26 years old. And the fact that we couldn't get parts in a timely fashion, meanwhile, still having to keep a towel in the refrigerator to keep the leaking down and having to go in there periodically and chisel out ice all over the refrigerator. Not just in the freezer but up higher too.

We decided we just had enough of this refrigerator. I think they did fine. We're dealing with Sears for our microwave right now, and Sears is a little bit harder to communicate with. We don't have any problem with the people that came out to work on the refrigerator. It's just probably time for it to go.

Everything is working excellent now, but I’m very dissatisfied with the length of time it took the person to get here. He took five days. They could e improve the time it takes to respond to problems.

Because I have to pay a service fee, which was a lot of money, I would not recommend it. What seems to be covered upfront and then what is covered are not necessarily the same things that you think because it comes out that some things, some parts, or different things are not covered.

There was a leak coming from underneath the washing machine., so I called American Home Shield. I did two claims. My toilet and my washing machine. The claims process is not that bad, but I think it used to be easier than it is now. I got a text that said I was assigned to this person and to this person.

I've never really had any problem, althouh I once had an experience with my oven, and AHS sent out a company that couldn't figure it out. And they resubmitted it and they came out again. They still couldn't figure it out, and then they sent another company.

The first company said it needs to be totally replaced. And so then we were starting to head down that road, and then AHS sent out another company. Anyway, the final company, he was very, very good.

After months of not having an oven, finally, I was assigned to somebody who came out, did a couple of switches. And then he said there was some wire issue or something was crossed and he fixed it. And it seemed really simple at the time.

Now, if I have any trouble with my kitchen appliances, I request this guy. But there was a company that could not, under any circumstances -- and then they kept saying, "Oh, it's just bad." I said, it's not that bad. This oven's not that old."

Anyway, it ended up being in the back of my oven. There was a wire that was kinked. It was relatively minor and I've never had any trouble since.

I have had AHS foe more than 20 years, since I owned my house. And it's gotten so expensive that I'm not sure how much longer I'm gonna continue. But my friend was in real estate and he suggested you guys.

Actually, I'm grateful that I'm grandfathered in at a $50 copay. I guess they're higher now. I've enjoyed the service. I've paid well for it. And it's probably quadrupled since I've gotten it. If there's something AHS can improve, it’s not to raise the prices every year.

There was a leak in a garbage disposal that needed replacement. People kept saying it’s 10 days to do something that looks so simple, but it took almost 20 days because they had to find multiple people and reschedule. T Mayes came out and fixed it moderately. It's still not fully fixed like I want it fixed, but it's working.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for around five years. There are pluses and negatives with them. The people who come to my home, one of them was good, and two were mediocre. Also, I don't want a random expense to come out of my pocket. But then, I had to wash dishes outside for a month because American Home Shield couldn't get me somebody immediately. It's been a while with American Home Shield. My sister advised me to get the service. I previously had a microwave replaced, then when I called back because there was some type of electric static when you push the start button, they said in order to get somebody to come out, I gotta pay another $100. I said, "Wait a minute. You guys installed this thing. It's a brand-new microwave. Why am I paying another $100 service fee?“

There was also a drip from the kitchen sink. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield by telephone. It wasn't difficult, but getting this situation fixed was. It never got resolved to my satisfaction. When H&K Plumbing came out the first and second time, the kitchen sink wasn't dripping. On the second time, they gave me some helpful information. When it was dripping, I took a video of it and showed it to them because each of the other times they said if it's not dripping while they're there, then they can't resolve the issue .

When they got here the third, it wasn't dripping, therefore there's nothing they could do. In the three attempts they came to my house to fix the problem, which I know is a problem, they didn't do anything except for monitor or try to monitor the drip. They said that the video shows that it's dripping every 15 seconds, then they said, "It's not dripping while we're here, so we can't do anything." They did what they were contracted to do. But if I request for someone to come out three times, there is an issue. If you can't identify the problem while you're there, then why am I calling you? Why did I pay the $100?

I haven't filed many claims, but this was the worst-case scenario. The contract that AHS has with their vendors needs to be changed because people are paying $100 each time somebody comes out and they're supposed to do something for that $100. If the consumer is experiencing a problem, resolve the issue before you walk out of there.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for years and this is the second time I've had an issue. They never assigned anybody for over a week and I had to call them a week later. They said I should hear from somebody the next day. I never did. I chatted online, and they signed me with Three Amigos Plumbing the second time that I reached out through the chat. The rep online was professional and Three Amigos Plumbing declogged my toilet and sink. They did great, but AHS is getting to be not very useful. I got my dishwasher done, but I never got to put a claim in against the company that delivered it. They never installed it. My husband had installed a new dishwasher that came in.

When American Sundance first called to schedule the appointment, they set it for Monday. Someone had to take time off work to be at the condo because they gave us a five‑hour window from 12:00 to 5:00. I asked them to call my spouse, who was going to be at the condo, and I gave them his phone number.

They called me on Sunday. I saw my phone light up, and then they hung up. I assumed they were calling to confirm, but then I realized they had read my note saying to call my husband first and me second. Because of that, I didn’t call them back.

So Monday came, and my spouse was waiting at the condo. Around 2:30, he texted me that they still hadn’t arrived. The appointment window was from 12:00 to 5:00. I called the contractor, and they told me it had been rescheduled. I told them that wasn’t acceptable because my spouse had taken time off work to wait for them.

She said, “Oh, sorry, we called you.” I explained that I literally had my phone in my hand, it lit up, and then the call disconnected. I assumed they were calling my husband, since that’s what I had requested, so I didn’t call back. They didn’t leave a voicemail, didn’t send a message, and I had no communication at all that they weren’t coming.

So we rescheduled again for Monday. I had originally wanted Saturday, but they told me no technicians work Saturdays or Sundays and that they’re closed on those days. Then they called me on Friday and said they wanted to reschedule for Saturday. At that point, I was like, “What is going on?” The scheduling was sucky, and I wasn’t happy with them.

In the end, when they finally came out, it was fixed on the first visit, and I haven’t had any issues since. As far as American Home Shield goes, they didn’t do anything wrong on their end. But the contractor, American Sundance, I wasn’t very fond of.

I have two heat pumps in this house, and they’re not working very well. We live in a very remote area. I called American Home Shield and said I needed a technician, and they told me there was nobody in their network in our area. I then called a local supplier, and they came out and said I needed two new units. They refused to work with American Home Shield because they know how difficult it is to deal with them.

American Home Shield said they needed more information. After about a month and a half of constantly calling and trying to get someone on the phone, I eventually got the president and CEO of American Home Shield involved. After that, they said they would send someone from their network. Then they turned around and said again that there was nobody in their network in our area.

I kept calling and eventually got someone in their network from Saint George to come out. They said I needed two new units. Then the warranty said they needed another opinion. They sent Sweet Mountain Air out from Phoenix. He drove five hours, worked on my unit, and said I didn’t need new units. Because of that one opinion, the claim was denied.

After Sweet Mountain Air left, the system worked worse. I confronted him about it, and he said, “That’s how it works.” That’s not how it works. I’m supposed to have two working units, and I only have one. After that visit, the claim was denied, and that was it. They basically hung up on me. It took three months for this whole process to end up being denied, for no reason other than one technician not knowing what he was doing.

When the first local company came out, the warranty approved a leak test. But my system wasn’t leaking, it was just old. American Home Shield did approve about $3,500, but they gave it to a company I didn’t want to work with. I was going back and forth with that first company because they wouldn’t work with American Home Shield, so I was the one making all the calls. Meanwhile, the warranty wanted a breakdown.

I went back to Thompsons, the company I didn’t want to work with. I asked for a breakdown, but they never gave me one. They said they don’t work like that. American Home Shield sent them $3,500 and for what? For nothing. That money is gone. I don’t know if Thompsons cashed the check, but it's not my money.

American Home Shield paid $3,500 to the wrong people, so they don’t know what they’re doing. I even got the president/CEO on the phone, and he said, “Oh yeah, we’re on it,” but it still got denied. Worst experience ever. It was horrible, and my system still doesn’t work. I fixed a lot of it myself, but I still need two new units.

I’m a mechanic and a licensed electrician, and I know my garage door opener is covered. I asked American Home Shield if my garage door goes out, can they just give me the money so I can install it, because I’m in a remote area and there’s nobody in their network. They said, “Oh no, we have to send someone out.” That's a waste of money. Working with American Home Shield was the worst experience I’ve ever had. I canceled my subscription because of it.

We had an electrical issue where some lines or outlets in our house weren’t working. We called American Home Shield, made an appointment, and paid the service fee. The contractor who came out was not very helpful and didn’t seem knowledgeable about electrical issues.

They didn’t fix the problem. They came, looked at it, but couldn't really determine what was wrong. They took some pictures and sent a written report saying there were wiring issues or irregularities, and then washed their hands off.

American Home Shield could do better with servicing and transparency. The service isn’t great. They don’t always send experts, and it doesn’t seem like they know what to look for when choosing contractors. That said, it does help when they actually cover something.

My most recent claim was for my dishwasher. It will be installed on Monday. On that one, I wasn’t sure exactly how it worked. I was under the impression that they’re going to deliver it. Then the same people that came to service it the first time was going to come install it. Apparently, whoever delivers it was going to install it.

However, when they came to install it, he had to check the water pressure from the hot water. He found that it was broken, and it wasn’t shutting off. So he cannot install the dishwasher until the belt is fixed. I had to make another service call with American Home Shield, and get another appointment for the installation.

Now, the installation took a bit longer than I wanted. Usually, when I deal with Sears, I get an appointment within two or three days. But I did tell American Home Shield that if I wanted them sooner, I can call back and get Sears to install it. They said that’s fine, but I waited this long. So I’ll just wait till the 10th.

It’s been a good experience. I’ve dealt with American Home Shield a lot. I’ve never really had issues with them. They’re always willing to work with me. If there’s something I can’t get fixed or have issues with, I always try to call and speak to management or appeal it, and it always worked well with me.

Whenever I submit a claim, I do it online, and it's very easy. It asks what property, then I just go through the options, problems I'm having, and submit it. Then, I get a text saying it’s received. Within a few minutes or same hour, they assign me a contractor depending on what issue I’m having.

I’ve never had an issue with any of my two properties. I pay yearly, which I do on a monthly basis. Plus, I still got to pay a service fee. It’s like a deductible. When I first got it, it was $50. Now, it’s up to $100. It’s pretty expensive, but it still beats paying $800 out of pocket. Also, I’ve never had a problem with the contractor. So far, so good.

I called AHS because several of the rooms in my house are not heating. The contractor came, but he couldn’t rectify the problem. He said it was not a mechanical issue. It was an issue where the air flow was not balanced. Something needed to be installed, and it’s not covered. But my encounter with him felt comfortable and put me at ease.

I don’t really have any issues with American Home Shield. I had them before when I lived in Georgia. What I have a problem with is communication. It was not difficult to get in contact with a representative. But I hate that they outsource to people that don’t speak good English. Aside from the language barrier, they were able to assist.

I had used their service three times, and only one time was satisfying. I’d say the better contract costs a little bit more, but they do send people out to assess the situation.

We had a really bad leak. First, I called the plumber. They said the issue was the dishwasher itself, so I then called American Home Shield. They changed it to a leak on a dishwasher, and there was no additional deductible. Asset Appliance came out, took a look at it, and fixed it.

Once they fixed it, they also said that I’ve got another problem with the sprayer and pump. I then called up American Home Shield, and Asset Appliance came out. They fixed everything on it. It was all covered under the original call for the dishwasher. They did great. Asset was wonderful.

We have another house in Kentucky that had some problems. I had a dishwasher that was completely unrepairable. AHS had me buy a new dishwasher, submit the payment to them, and then reimburse me. But it took seven months to get paid from them. And for some of the appliances I had, it took a couple of months.

They just denied and came up with excuses to prolong the process. They said the checks had been sent, and it never got there. That was on that merry-go-round until finally, we told them we were going to file a complaint, and that sparked them to take it and get it to us within about three weeks.

AHS didn’t have an expeditious way of making payments on certain things and locations. The repair people are generally pretty good. I have no complaints about that.

We filed a claim in on the washing machine. It started leaking water, so we called American Home shield and they gave me an appointment. First of all, the prices have gone crazy. The plan that we have, I think we pay $102 a month. And then, when we call in to put a claim in, we have to pay another $100.

The gentleman came out from Assistant Plumbing Company. He diagnosed the problem for us. And I don’t know who it would fall on. I think it would fall more on the company than American Shield because he told us what the problem was and he said he doesn’t fix the pipes. After he told us the problem, took it loose, put it back together, told us what the problem was, we went out and got the part and put it on.

We called American Shield back and the young lady did have someone else come out. But I told them we didn’t need them because, in the meantime, we had already fixed it ourselves. So I’m waiting to hear back from American Shield to see if they will reimburse us for fixing our own part.

We had to do it ourselves. Th technician just said that, “We don’t fix that,.” and put it back together and left. So there we paid all this money out. I don’t think it’s really American Home Shield. I think it may be the people that they have coming out are not reliable, or this particular company didn’t do what they said they would do.

We were paying $82 a month in 2021, and it’s s gone up. I don’t understand why it keep going up, so we’re trying to find someone else that will do the same thing that American Shield does and find another company that won’t cost us a lot, but we just haven’t found anybody yet.

MD Heating just did a furnace checkup. Overall, that was fine, checking the HVAC. But in terms of American Home Shield, I haven't had to use them for a warranty claim, so I don't know how they will be in that situation. However, I've heard some things where it's like they might not replace the exact same equipment, might use more generic level items that essentially meets the need but maybe not be exactly what was damaged. That's hearsay, but I'm just wondering-- I don't even know if it's a good value, so I might be stopping it soon.

I pay 65 a month and it might be a bit high, especially if have a $3,000 refrigerator, if they're going to replace that with same gear or they're gonna try to put a different brand or level of value item in there. But pricing-wise, at some point, after a couple of years, I realize I could have just saved up that money and self-funded the replacements. They keep raising the price here and there.

They’re good. They do the preventive things. They send you the emails. I just don't know if it's the best value in terms of being in a warranty plan and whether or not it should just be self-funded. At some point, the math might make more sense to being more strategic in that regard.

I had an electrical issue with my pool light. It was tripping my GFCI breaker on my pool equipment. My pool lights and the spot lights weren't coming on, so the guy came out and did a quick test, and determined that one of the lights was out, one of my LED lights in the pool was out. I was told then by American Home Shield that my pool lights aren't covered underneath the service plan that I purchased for my pool equipment. And then they went ahead and gave me a $125 credit back that I paid for the service.

I had 100% confidence that they would replace the part that I paid for. This is a part of my pool equipment that I expected to be covered under the plan, but it wasn't. So, I was very disappointed in that aspect of it. As a matter of fact, I’ll start shopping around and looking for another warranty service that will cover my stuff because the last thing I want is to be paying for a service, and then when I have a part go out, they don't cover it. Then that service is no longer good to me. Right now, I'm just throwing away money. I don't like to do that.

Trying to get ahold of somebody in customer service on the phone is like pulling teeth from a newborn. So, I think I've just done it online, just requesting service online. And then there again, they're online. It's very vague in what you could sit there and say the problem is. They give you some options to check. But the website, electrical for pool equipment, of course, it was electrical, but they didn't cover my electrical problem. So, they need to take that off of the pool equipment part.

They've gone up on their monthly premiums. I don't like that either.

We recently called them out for our air conditioning system, they came, checked it, and said it was nothing major. Only thing is a while back, we had a company come and fix the AC and they put a hard stop on it, so every time it cuts off and on it makes the loudest noise throughout the night and the daytime to the point our neighbor even complained about it. We asked American Home Shield if they could replace it and they said they won’t until it completely breaks down. We’ve been paying American Home Shield for over 15 years, we’ve complained about it a couple of times, they haven't even tried to take care of it and to this day, it’s still making that loud noise. The AC guy that came out last summer recommended for it to be replaced, and American Home Shield denied it, so we’re not 100% pleased with them.

American Home Shield needs to do what they’re supposed to do versus doing the bare minimum. But the techs that have come out have been great every single time. There was one time, we were strapped for cash, he just filled the Freon up and didn't even charge us for it. So, that felt good. I don't even know if he got in trouble for that or not, but it was a nice gesture. And $100 is not bad for them to come out and take care of things. It's not crazy high especially if it's a big problem.

I'm very impressed with Home Shield, and I always refer people to them. My most recent issue was about my toilet, my shower, and my water heater. The guy from His & Hers Plumbing came to the house, went straight to the water heater, took a picture and told me it was gonna cost me $800 to $1,200 out-of-pocket, without even going in my bathroom or anywhere else. I felt uncomfortable so I asked him for a written estimate, and for a second opinion. He went outside, sat in his car talking to someone on the phone for 30 minutes. I went to his car, kept asking for a written estimate, he told me I wasn’t gonna get any and drove off. Good thing American Home Shield allowed me to get a second opinion, and they got them blocked from coming to my house because I don't ever want them on my property again.

Another tech came, and he did a thorough job. He explained everything to me and set up an appointment to get the work done this coming Tuesday. So, I’m satisfied with American Home Shield because whatever happens, and whenever I have issues and call their attention, they make it right. There are times people have to come out twice to fix something because there may have been a hiccup the first time, but they always get it right.

We moved in in 2019 and have been with American Home Shield for at least five years. Overall, it was a good experience. There were times where we put in service requests for our washer. That was the first time we had some issues with getting someone out here on time. But the most recent one was when we were getting our water heater. We had submitted the request like normal and waited for the contractor to come out. He reached out to us through his personal phone and scheduled a service. And then every time I would try to reach out to him to follow up, it was like nothing involved. It was like a game of hooky.

It was winter time so obviously, quickness is a factor but there was the lack of communication with the contractor. He doesn’t respond right away and when I do get ahold of him, I tell him stuff and then it goes again. He won’t show up or something will happen. It was just a back and forth of me calling him, leaving a message, and him not responding. The next morning, I’ll call again, leave a message, no response. I didn’t want to use them if they’re not gonna be able to get here in time. But I didn’t wanna pay an arm and a leg for something I’m paying a home warranty monthly for. So, I had to go with them because of my home warranty.

And then one day, because we had already set up an appointment for a follow-up, he said he can’t confirm that date and that he’d call me back. But, he ended showing up for that day anyway. Luckily, I was off and I was there. But what if I haven’t been there and I couldn’t get off of work? So, that situation was frustrating. He didn’t have the part so we had to wait again. He finally got the part and the water heater worked for the weekend. So I called the contractor again, but miraculously, cause I’m relatively savvy with hot water heaters myself, I happened to get it up and working again and it hasn’t had a problem since.

There were multiple times where I’ve contacted AHS. I told them that the contractor wasn’t responding and not giving me a specific date. He doesn’t communicate and when he does, it’s not something that’s reliable. They’d put me on hold while they call the contractor. To the third time that I’ve done this, I said that I’ll wait on the phone and that I’ll wait for them to tell me the contractor doesn’t respond to them either. There’s no urgency for them to even answer the people that are employing them and giving them more business than they ever deserved. American Home Shield then told me that on their record, the contractor has positive reviews. I told them that looking on his actual Google review page, it’s showing 1 star with everybody saying the same thing that he doesn’t respond and that he’s horrible.

Whoever does AHS’ reviews should not only look internally. Especially if they’re allowing this person to be contracted with them and also do side work on his own, go look at what he’s doing outside of business, because that’s a prime factor of what the contractor’s doing with AHS.

Another I didn’t like is that I couldn’t change the contractor even if they’re not doing their job. When you’re working with a warranty company that has very strict standards of having to only work with that contractor until the job is complete, communication is key.

I’ve only had about five service requests over five years, paying AHS over $100 a month. That’s a lot of money for me to not be able to change my contractor because they say that it’s first come, first serve. That’s ridiculous. Either they don’t have the contractors available or they don’t care and just wanting to not lose money out on whatever AHS paid the contractor. That only makes sense if there’s some kind of contractual obligation between AHS and that contractor, that when they accept it, they’re guaranteed some kind of service fee. You’re not willing to give up that service fee to make your customer satisfied. I don’t feel like that’s appropriate.

I’m not a big proponent to outsourcing call centers, mostly because a lot of times it is very hard to understand which I really don’t appreciate. I’m all for American jobs too so it frustrates me that the company is willing to hire people who are easier to communicate with when it comes down to me having an issue, but not when it just comes to standard service. I think something needs to change. I get the cost behind it but I just don’t like the method of where it’s like they try their best to get you off a call because they know that’s the best thing they could do to keep the company from having to pay people money. They make it seem like they’re doing something but it doesn’t feel genuine.

Overall, the service may work, and it may get you to where you don’t have to pay anything else because he’s getting the job done. But at what cost? I’m somebody who owns a few businesses myself and a mail carrier as well on the side. I see American Home Shield advertisements and every time I see a customer, I almost wanna say to not go with American Home Shield. I told AHS that when my contract’s up in July, I’m gonna rethink if I want to renew considering the lack of clear communication and the lack of empathy towards the customer with me explaining the process I’ve already been through.

Our water heater wasn’t working properly. We put in a ticket on February 2nd to AHS and they told me who was assigned to it. He had set up an appointment with us but never showed up. We had to call him and he said to just send him a picture. So, we sent him one and he said that it was under warranty because he had installed it about a year and a half ago, which is true.

He told us to call the manufacturer and so we did. The manufacturer sent out another plumbing company on the 6th. They had discovered a leak on top coming from the plumbing, and that the water was getting into the water heater quite possibly messing with the insulation and other things.

We called AHS to tell them this, but AHS basically said the contractor hasn’t posted his diagnosis yet, so they couldn’t do anything. This other plumbing company was somebody that we contacted directly, not through AHS. So, they couldn’t take their diagnosis. They said they’d give him a call. They put me on hold and came back and said they didn’t get anybody but they left a message and he has 24 hours to respond.

I called again 48 hours later on a Friday but the contractor still has not posted his diagnosis. AHS put me on hold, tried him again and left another message. They told me it has to happen three times before they escalate things. I called again on Monday and they said nothing posted yet so they tried to call him again. That would have been the third time. So on Tuesday, when I called back and they said that he hasn’t posted yet and that they’d call him, I told them that would be the fourth time. They said they could escalate it for me if he doesn’t respond. I requested to have it escalated.

I expected to get a phone call from this escalation person but didn’t. So, I called again the next day, and that the contractor hasn’t posted his diagnosis and the claim hasn’t been escalated yet. I asked if the rep I was speaking to could escalate it which was done.

The next day, they called my husband’s phone even though I told them to call mine. My husband couldn’t answer when he’s at work. I called back American Home Shield and asked to try calling me next time. I was still speaking with the customer service representative when they told me that the specialist said that they called the contractor and gave him 24 hours to respond. It was ridiculous. I told them to just make sure the specialist calls my phone number. The next day, they called my husband’s phone again and so I had to call back but couldn’t to a specialist because they won’t forward the call to them.

Finally, the contractor posted his diagnosis. AHS told me that the water heater is under warranty, so I have to get the manufacturer and that they have to call the contractor back to get him to actually post the diagnosis because his initial post wasn’t an official one.

The contractor then post that it’s gonna cost $2000 to fix it. AHS said that they’d cover the water heater, but we have to pay the $2000 plumbing fee. We told AHS that we don’t even know if we need a new water heater. We need somebody else to come out and look at it to figure out what’s wrong so that AHS can have this official diagnosis and so that we can get a functioning water heater. My husband told AHS to send somebody else out and we’ll pay the $100 fee.

They agreed to send somebody else last Thursday. The new contractor came out and did not say the exact same thing the previous contractor said. We were told that there’s something melted in the vent because of the subpar parts that weren’t up to standard and what was needed to be done. They submitted that to AHS and AHS approved it. We got with the new plumber and they came out two days ago, and fixed the vent and redid the plumbing. We paid the plumbing company $150.

Now, everything is performing fine and I have hot water. But we’re leaving AHS and getting somebody else. Cause even though we’ve had them for the longest time, this last time was just too much. My water heater took a month to get a fixed where I kept getting the runaround. Either they were being dishonest or incompetent. We are also paying quite a bit with AHS. We were shopping and didn’t realize that there are companies with the same coverage but with lower price. I have a friend who’s buying a house and I told them to get home warranty but not to go through AHS.

When we bought our home, our Realtor included a one-year subscription at American Home Shield. After that first year, we saw the value and decided to renew it ourselves for a second year. It’s very affordable, and I’ve never had any trouble getting assistance.

Recently, I filed a claim with our garbage disposal. We went online and made the request and the process was very easy. The contractors were fine, and they were very professional. They arrived on time and fixed the issue right away by tightening a bolt underneath the unit and even left the tool they used so we could handle it ourselves if it happens again. Everything has been working fine since the repair.

We’ve had AHS coverage for years and generally not had a problem with small claims. However, we now have an ongoing problem with our dryer that technicians have been unable to repair and AHS refuses to replace. We’ve had a technician out to repair it 3 times and they’ve now re-ordered a part (with a multi-week wait time) that already hasn’t resolved the problem to attempt to try it again. We’ve had an open ticket and non-working dryer for almost SIX WEEKS, which we feel is unacceptable and really disappointing. American Home Shield has done nothing to try to make the situation right.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for a couple of years. My dishwasher isn’t working. It has power, but it doesn’t run. I’ve been having problems with it since December and haven’t been able to get it fixed. The last technician tried, but it didn’t get resolved. A week ago, a new technician came, said he ordered the parts, and would follow up this Tuesday but I never heard anything. The dishwasher still isn’t fixed, and I’m frustrated.

He mentioned that fixing it would require tearing up my floor, which I understand but I don’t want to do that unless someone is actually coming out, especially since we’re trying to sell our house. I’m ready to cancel my contract, buy a new dishwasher, and have it installed myself. The current dishwasher won’t drain properly, leaving stagnant water that smells like dirty dishwater, making my kitchen stink and now even downstairs. I’m very disappointed.

My most recent experience with American Home Shield was terrible. First of all, I've been with them since 1985. I first got the American Home Shield when I bought my home. I had them come out to fix two toilets, one of the toilets wasn't working well. The old toilets are slow valve toilets, and they replace it with no extra charge.

Now that they’ve changed owners, I never received any paperwork explaining changes to their coverage. Recently, they charged me $100 for a visit and then said they couldn’t do the work because they no longer service slow-valve toilets, which is odd since most plumbers still do. But that’s their current policy.

They didn’t take care of it. I complained, but I couldn’t reach anyone helpful because the sales team wouldn’t let me speak to anyone else. I didn’t realize it worked that way. After I complained, they actually had the nerve to send me a new contract. I didn’t even know the ownership had changed, because they never sent a contract at that time, they kept taking my money every month. I’ve paid American Home Shield thousands over the years, and now when I finally need service, they tell me they don’t do it anymore.

My toilet tank was running, and my sink was clogged. The first time I called to file a claim, I had to hang up on the agent because there was loud music in the background and she kept asking me what I needed even after I told her. I called back and got a different agent, and that service was wonderful. But that first call was horrible.

The contractor came out, took his shoes off, introduced himself, and explained what he was doing. I had a really good interaction with him. He replaced a part in the toilet that needed fixing. For the sink, he gave me advice and said there was a lot of hair in it and that if I cleaned it out regularly, I probably wouldn’t have that problem. I haven’t had any issues since. The toilet isn’t running anymore, and the sink drains well. That plumbing company was excellent.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for about a year, and they’ve been good overall. Their rates are reasonable, and I usually don’t have trouble getting help when I call. They’re available 24/7, so even on weekends I can get through, either online or by phone. They respond to messages, and it’s a service that’s available to me, so I feel appreciative of it.

I’ve been having problems with American Home Shield and have been trying to resolve them for quite some time. My most recent issue started when my washer broke in October 2024. American Home Shield sent a vendor who replaced a part, some kind of control board, but that didn’t fix it. They replaced it a second time, and that did help. The washer worked for about 40 days.

Then the same problem came back. I contacted the vendor directly, as he had told me to do, but he never responded. So I contacted American Home Shield again and was charged another $100, even though I explained that this was the same issue and that something had triggered the same problem again.

I was okay with being charged the $100 because they said it was a different dispatch. Then they assigned another vendor who came out and replaced the exact same part, the same control board. That didn’t fix it either.

After that, they said another internal part needed to be replaced and that it would require two people. I was told one person would be holding the drum or something while the other replaced the part. I don’t know all the details, but that’s how it was explained to me.

After that, the job kept getting reassigned from one vendor to another. They would say they only had one technician and needed two, so it would be reassigned again. This went on for about a week. Eventually, they found a vendor who could send two people, and that vendor showed up quickly.

He came out, looked at it, and said he wanted to try replacing two parts, so he ordered them. He said it would take three days. Fast forward to today, one of the parts has been received by the vendor, but the other one hasn’t. I think it’s been about 11 days now.

I tried to explain this to American Home Shield two days ago through the online chat. I told them how frustrated I was because the washer broke back in October, worked for about 40 days, and now it’s March. We’re six months into this situation.

I have three small children, so you can imagine how much laundry we go through every day. It’s been a major inconvenience. I asked multiple times if this could be expedited or assigned to the right person from the beginning, but that didn’t happen. At this point, I’m unhappy with how everything has been handled.

The last time I spoke with an agent, I asked for a refund for the past year because I didn’t know the service would be like this. The agent said she would escalate it to management or customer relations. I’m not exactly sure which.

All of the technicians were similar. They would look at the washer and try to diagnose it, but I don’t think they really knew what they were doing. I should have checked their reviews on Google or Yelp before they were assigned. They don’t have very good reviews, and now I understand why.

American Home Shield is a horrible company. They’re highly inept, and their systems feel predatory and bad. I don’t like them. I explained my issues to the phone agent, and they told me that none of the issues I described were covered. When the repair person came out, he immediately said that nothing I had described was a covered repair under my plan, even though I had already told the phone agent about those issues.

The repair person from the local company also said they never should have been sent out. He knew right away what was covered and not covered and said he hoped I would get my fee refunded, which should have been the correct outcome. I did call the warranty company, and they said it was a one‑time courtesy refund, which is incorrect.

It’s required that they refund it, not as a courtesy, but because you can’t have a consumer describe non‑covered issues, charge them, send someone out, and then say none of it is covered. That’s a bad system, and that’s what happened. The supervisors still claimed the refund was a courtesy.

They say it takes 14 business days for a refund, which is the longest refund timeline I’ve ever seen. As of today, I’m still waiting on the $100 service fee refund. I’ve had to call back repeatedly, escalate, talk to supervisors, and waste more time.

They need to do more to screen requests for non‑covered items. Nothing in their system is set up to prevent customers from paying the $100 service fee for something that isn’t covered. Their portal lets you submit a request, but it’s very basic, not specific enough, and it doesn’t work well. They don’t have the right protections in place.

In general, their phone system is difficult to navigate and very complicated if you’re trying to speak to an actual person. It’s hard to reach a supervisor, hard to get correct information, and hard to get consistent answers. Honestly, it takes a lot of time and effort for a consumer to use this plan in a way that feels reasonable and fair.

Their website is also overly complicated. It’s difficult to tell which plan is which, and they have special plans that only home buyers or sellers can purchase, compared to standard consumer plans. The additional electronics protection add‑on doesn’t immediately transfer to SquareTrade.

Your plan number isn’t issued right away, so there’s an unacceptable delay between renewing a plan and knowing your new American Home Shield plan number and SquareTrade plan number. The renewal process is slow, inefficient, and poorly handled. It’s very hard to understand the differences between plans, and even getting accurate information about them is confusing.

I’ve had American Home Shield now for two or three years. I had them previously on my actual home. I had them for a year on my home here. But with this policy, I’ve been there for at least two years. Maybe going on three.

So, the recent claim I had was when All Points Plumbing came in and found the leak. And from what their dispatch told me when they called for dispatch to the technician, when he got there that afternoon, was different information. So, I was already questioning the difference in the information.

And the technician wasn’t very nice. He wasn’t very nice to my renter either, ‘cause it’s a rental property that I have. And he continually told us, while my husband and I were on the phone, that his company was only going to repair the leak by basically modifying it and putting in a hex pipe attached to the hard pipe that’s in the house. And the hex flex pipe doesn’t even have a 10-year warranty on it. It would have been leaking right away again since the house has a hard pipe.

I told them I did not want that in the home, that I wanted CPVC, which was already in the home. I wanted it to be repaired with that. And he kept telling me his company won’t do that. He then lied to my renter. Because my renter knows it’s a home warranty, he knows that everything has to go through the home warranty. And he told my renter that he couldn’t repair it that day because he had to order parts.

So, I asked for his manager to call me. And the technician proceeded to call me three more times that evening. All the way up until 8:00 something, 8:30 or so at night, he was still calling me. I wouldn’t answer the phone because I asked for his manager, not him, to call me back. And he kept calling me from his cell phone, which I thought was very unprofessional.

So, even when I asked for the manager to call me, no one called me the next morning. I went ahead and called the office number and left a message, asked for the manager to call me. No one called me that day. The next day, midday, a manager called me, finally.

The manager and I discussed everything the technician had said. He apologized. He let me know that he would be talking to the tech. He didn’t understand why I was so adamant about hard pipe. When I let him know about the warranty information on the hex pipe, he asked how I knew about it. And I told him that my husband is a plumber, so I know plumbing quite well. I’ve seen it done and been involved with it. It’s just not feasible for us to go to the rental place because we live on the other side of town, and it’s an hour and 45 minutes drive to get to the house.

So, he apologized. He told me they could go back with the hard pipe. But then he proceeded to tell me that it was gonna be a modification. And I asked how it’s a modification when they’re simply repairing a leak. They’re just cutting out the pipe and putting in the same pipe and same fittings. I’m not asking them to add a water line. I’m not asking them to add a washer. I’m not asking them to add anything.

And he explained to me that it didn’t matter. It was a simple repair, but they call it a modification, which means that American Home Shield charges me. And so, he gets to charge American Home Shield and me.

So, I was a bit disappointed in the company. And I let American Home Shield know. And I also told the manager I did not want Colton, the technician, back in my house. And he told me that he could send whatever plumber he wanted to my home. And I was not happy with that.

My husband’s trying to call in right now. He was on the phone a lot with them as well, and they were completely rude to him as well.

And so, I called American Home Shield, wanting a different plumber, and they didn’t really give me much options. And if I did a second opinion and they came up with the same diagnosis, the original plumber would go back in the house, which I wasn’t disputing the diagnosis. I just didn’t want that plumber or that company back in my home, not after performing business that way.

The only other option AHS gave me was to do a cash-in-lieu. So, when I tried to do the cash-in-lieu, they couldn’t process it because the plumbing company, All Points, had put notes in there that they already completed the whole job, even the full repair, and that everything was completed.

And I asked the American Home Shield woman, who was very nice, Miss Cathy, why I am looking at a bill that they wanted me to pay $299 for them to complete the work if they’re telling them they’ve already completed everything. I’ve got pictures of a hole in my roof and in my ceiling. And my renter’s without hot water. So, she couldn’t give me a cash-in-lieu. She couldn’t move forward. She couldn’t do anything until after contacting the company and verifying that they had not completed that work yet.

So, she put me on hold. She called them twice. She emailed them. No one would respond. No one would call back. So, it took two extra days to even get in touch with them, to get any response back for me to be able to get a cash-in-lieu. And I wasn’t able to get another plumber out there until Saturday. I still haven’t gotten the cash-in-lieu yet, but I went ahead and got a plumber myself and got it completed.

And it was just ridiculous, because not only did they give me misinformation, did not treat me very well, but they came back and also put in false reports to American Home Shield. And so, that’s where I had a big problem.

And then they couldn’t even get a contractor to do the drywall repair because they couldn’t get back in touch with them to find out the size hole that they made. It took two days to get in touch with them to get the information back so that the next step could happen.

So, my renter was sitting there without hot water for days, and then with a big old hole in the ceiling for days, because All Points Plumbing doesn’t wanna answer the phone or answer an email or call back. And that’s just not good business practice.

So, there needs to be contingencies when things like that happen. I shouldn’t only have an option of a second opinion or to have to pay another service fee for someone else to come out to get a new contractor. If I’ve already paid my service fee, they have the choice to choose the contractor. But if the contractor is not professional and not only treating me unprofessionally, but also not giving them correct information, I shouldn’t have to pay again another 125 to get someone else out there.

And then they’re telling me that even if I paid another 125 and sent someone else out there, if it was the same diagnosis, they’re gonna send that original plumber back in there. I can’t fathom that. I’m the consumer. I’m paying for the warranty. I’m paying for these things. If there’s an issue with a contractor, I should be able to say, “No. They are not allowed in my home.” And another contractor should be able to come out. I shouldn’t have to go this cash-in-lieu option and try to find someone. It was a mess.

The vendor was great. It’s American Home Shield that is lacking. I was very satisfied with the person who came out this time. But it took me, at least, six months to get somebody out to repair it through American Home Shield. Repair Tech was the fourth vendor. The other two were useless. But American Home Shield simply wanted to send a vendor out, whether they’re vetted or not, or if they can do the repair work. So, I didn’t have a problem with the vendor that was sent out this time. The problem was with American Home Shield trying to get them to understand what the problem is.

The issue is, I’ve been with AHS for several years now. I pay them dutifully every month. Anytime I call somebody out, they send out people who are inexperienced. The first person that they sent out, he wrote up the repair as an act of God, saying that American Home Shield could not pay for it because it was an act of God. It was not an act of God. It was the plate on my stove that did not work, my oven that did not work. It had nothing to do with any storms or water damage.

This started back in May of last year. I had to escalate it to consumer relations, who, after several days, finally called me back. They sent another repair person out. And he immediately identified it as the faceplate problem. He said it was recorded incorrectly. There was actually a problem with my oven. So, he put a faceplate on. It worked for a month. I had to call consumer relations again to send somebody out. And finally, that’s when they sent the last person, Repair Tech Plus.

The technician immediately called me. We did troubleshooting on the phone. I had an F7 error code. He immediately told me that to solve the problem, he would need to order a part. But the net of it was, I was having to stick my finger inside a button to turn on the oven. And that’s what I told the other repair person. This repair person told me that’s one of the worst things you could do, because you could get shocked by it. Nobody else even told me that. They didn’t care enough to tell me not to do it, and to wait until the service part comes in.

But the technician from Repair Tech troubleshoots over the phone. We got the part. The net of it was, we needed a new oven. And we were able to get the new oven. What they actually did was they sent me a link to appliances. And you also had an option to get a $1,500 gift card to Lowe’s. So, I looked at all of the options. And they gave me the repair person, who asked for my model and serial number. And he gave me a product that was closest to that model and serial number, because my product no longer existed. So, I opted to take that one because it was the closest.

Because if I get the $1,500 towards a new one, I would still have to pay out-of-pocket money, which I paid enough out-of-pocket money just for the monthly payments on. So, that’s why I opted to get the oven. But they do send you a link with lots of ovens, and you have to research it, which I don’t have a problem with. But they don’t give you enough information. And to ask a question, you have to go back to the 800-number. Then they transfer you over to another line that’s the product people.

And I saw in the paperwork that if the oven did not fit, I would have to pay a restocking fee. And they told me to measure the oven, which I did. But I later found out that the oven had to be pulled out because you have to measure the case around the oven. And I told them I can’t pull it out. I’m a 71-year-old woman. And they told me essentially that my contract says they don’t do that. And I told them to please show me in the contract where it says that. And they said that they’ll send me another copy of the contract.

But we’ve always had problems with them. And I wanted to validate my sanity. So, I went on their website. And I looked at people who had the same different products that needed repair. But the same issue, no response. The customer service reps, I actually had two who hung up on me. And one of the other customer service reps did apologize. ‘Cause I asked her not to hang up on me because the last person did. So, it’s to the point that I’m researching other warranty companies because I’m not satisfied with American Home Shield.

And they are expensive. The monthly payment has escalated. And on top of that, you have to pay a $75 co-pay. And if you have the same problem within three weeks after the repair, that’s considered another repair, and you have to pay another $75. They don’t give a 30-day warranty period or anything like that.

And I don’t mind paying for service, but it’s not good service. Beginning with the time that you put the request in, when somebody contacts you, and then for them to come out, they’re not good service people. And I understand that people who sign on with warranty companies typically aren’t established companies. They’re looking to get business, trying to establish themselves.

had two issues at the same time. One was for the heating and cooling unit, and the other one was for the dishwasher. The process was pretty simple, submitting them. The heating system was very good. The only problem is it took them a little bit of time to get back to us. But the guy knew what he was doing, and there were some fundamental problems caused probably about two years ago with another American Home shield contractor where they placed the thermostat unit in almost a non-usable area because they said they'd have to tear up my walls to put a new one in where it was.

They did replace the thermostat and it's working a little bit better than it did before. The problem specifically is the thermostat will read, say 70 degrees, and it'll be 67 pretty much near the thermostat, and then the rest of where that thing heats and cools, it may be 65. So there’s a discrepancy, but it's something we just set it a little hotter than we normally would, but very disappointed in the other contractor. There’s nothing we can do about it now. It’s three years old.

The second call was for our dishwasher, and by the time the contractor came, which was about a week and a half late, the machine worked again, so it’s kind of $100 thrown down the drain.

We had a situation about the same time we had the problem with the heating unit. We had a contractor come over and it took him six visits to correct a couple of drain issues and a couple of faucet issues. We find out eventually he just turned the water pressure down so he didn't need any part. And that same contractor spilled acid all over our house, ruined our pristine hardwood, and American Shield couldn't help us. The contractor’s insurance company said, “So sue us.” Very disappointed.

The ice we pay for he warranty is very bad. I'm paying $2,000 a year. And I just found out that they put a max, and one of the reasons we have it is because the air conditioning or the heat pump systems have gone up so drastically, so it could cost anywhere from 12,000 to 15,000 to replace that now, and American Home Shield only covers 5,000. They never had that cap before.

Out of all of the home warranty programs, AHS is probably the best. But apparently, that's not a lucrative business anymore, so I’m very seriously going to think about canceling them when we renew. We're paying $2,000 a year, and every time somebody comes out, it's $100, so it's kind of not worth it for us. I’ll have to think about it.

Hello Mike. Thanks for taking the time to send us your review of your recent service requests. I apologize that you've encountered problems with some of the service calls that you recently had. I'd like to address those that you wrote about.

Regarding the heating system service call, I am glad to see that the most recent vendor was knowledgeable about the technology for the thermostat and was able to explain that well. Normally, our technicians do not change the location of installed equipment, so the previous vendor who came to the home would have replaced the thermostat in the same location as it was installed.

Regarding the dishwasher service issue, please bear in mind that the control board that was replaced had an intermittent failure. This is why the unit worked sometimes and failed at others. By replacing the board, the unit's efficiency and dependability was improved. This would not have been the case without the repair. Despite the time that you had to wait for the part to arrive, the repair situation improved the overall utility of your appliance.

I hate to see that you encountered secondary damage to your floors during a repair. Our contracts do explicitly state that secondary damage is never covered. Our vendors all carry their own insurance, so the vendor's insurance should have covered any damage that the vendor does during a service call.

Thank you for your overall endorsement of our warranty plan. We work diligently to ensure that our customers' coverage needs are met. Please feel free to reach out to our team using any of the contact options found here : https://www.ahs.com/contact/.

His and Hers was assigned to me through American Home Shield. They came and looked at the leak, assessed it. Thought it was the tub, but it ended up being the sink, and they fixed it.

Generally, though, if something goes wrong or if I have something and I need to call them about, it's almost as if American Home Shield wants to patch it before they replace it. And then sometimes, patching things up just makes the situation more compound. It's not like you get a warranty, they fix it. They get somebody to come fix it and it's that. It's not that. It's like they send a person, and the person's goal is to put as minimal amount of money and effort into patching it up. And if it's a major problem, then they’re still gonna patch it up.

Myers Comfort Specialists didn't repair anything. They just came out, did assessment. We just moved in this home in November. And we had a home inspection done on it and everything. And once we got ready to use the air conditioning, we realized it wasn't blowing cool air.

We called American Home Shield since we had the home warranty, And they sent Myers. They did an estimate on everything and sent it back to AHS, and AHS denied the claim.

For the claim process, I had no problem with it doing that. It's just the fact that they said that it was a pre-existing issue that I didn't know anything about when I really just bought the house in November and then tried to turn the air conditioner on in February.

I just cancelled my policy. That was it.

On our most recent claim, the technician was a little late getting there because he had some GPS issues. But he did a great job, took care of it. The one before that was absolutely terrible, and they never took care of that. This last one was great.

The technicians that American Home Shield sends over are horrible. The last claim was due to a water heater. The first technician that came out thought we needed a new water heater, but they didn't work on mobile homes. American Home Shield kept assigning new servicers, none of which worked on mobile homes.

They just kept assigning to random places, sometimes even the same places they'd already assigned to that weren't able to work on it. It was so bad. And then finally, they called me and I missed the call, and I called them back. And the guy said to be patient. They were just calling to give me the update, that I needed to be patient. But apparently, what he should have told me was that they had approved for me to pick out a servicer.

When I called back about three business days later, it was too late. They closed the case out. So then they opened the case back up and made me pay again, and refunded the money that they took the last time as a courtesy. It was terrible. Eventually, someone from the trailer park came over and replaced a part. I think I paid him $150.

That's how that worked out. Basically, they didn't fix it at all. All they did was make me take hours off of work over the course of a month, left my kids without a water heater for a month, so we will be cancelling.

Recently, I had a claim related to my HVAC system. A technician from Billy’s AC Service came out and diagnosed the problem. At first, they thought it was the blower motor, but later, they realized the heating coils were burned out. It ended up taking a little over two weeks to get the parts and have everything replaced. Once they finished, the system has been running fine.
The frustrating part for me was that the contractor they sent lived about an hour away from where I live in Salem, Virginia. It felt like he didn’t really want to make the trip unless he had to, and we went about two weeks in January without heat in the house. I have an eight-year-old son, so that part was pretty upsetting.
The main thing I usually tell people is what I call the “two-week rule.” No matter what you need fixed, it usually takes about two weeks. They have to find a contractor who has to come out and look at the issue, then they have to get approval from Home Shield and schedule another visit to actually fix it.

I’ve had American Home Shield since I bought my house around 2018. I do like it because I’ve had to replace quite a few things over the years, and it has helped with that. It can save you money, but there’s definitely a process you have to go through.

They called back within a reasonable time, set up the appointment, and it worked out well for me because it was a holiday. So I was able to accommodate them with the first appointment that they gave me, and they showed up on time. I didn't think they were gonna be able to fix it, but they got the job done. So I'd give them kudos for that.

As far as the pricing, I think it’s really expensive. I come from the thing where basically the contract was much cheaper. I understand things go up. Then they increase the calls. You make a claim or a call, and now it’s like $100. And then when it comes to coverage, you’re not getting the same thing as what you got before.

I've actually had a really bad experience with American Home Shield. I'm very unhappy with them. It's an ongoing issue that I'm trying to get resolved, and they are well aware of my feelings towards them as a company. I purchased a contract with them to make sure I have coverage for all things homeowner-related that their contract covers. And they're unable to source me a contractor to come and work on an appliance, which is fully covered under the warranty.

Now I am left with a broken appliance, and $500 I spent to purchase the contract that has essentially given me absolutely nothing. So, extremely pissed off, to say the least. I've been going back and forth for about a month now about the same situation. There's no point in escalation. They tell me they're gonna escalate it, and I'm talking to the same people every time. No solutions are being put in place. There's no type of care given that I am, as a customer, upset about the situation. They're not even offering any type of reimbursement or anything back to make the situation better. It's just kind of like, it is what it is, and they could give less of a crap about it.

I called American Home Shield because the shower was clogged and the baño and the toilet were flooding with water. We use the shower and then the baño floods. I called and they gave me an appointment for the next week. Let’s say I called Tuesday, they come next Tuesday.

When they show up, there’s no water because it already drained very slow. They say, “Okay, what’s wrong?” I tell them it floods when we take a shower. They say they can’t touch it because there is no water. They can’t see any water or stain showing on the baño or the toilet. So they didn’t touch it at all and then they left.
After he left, I called American Home Shield again. I told the lady what was going on and asked what I should do next time. Because if we use it, the water floods high on the baño and toilet. I told them you guys need to come right away or it’s going to drain again. She said they can’t do anything and told me to call and make a video. So we did. Two times.
Then again the baño floods and the toilet floods. I called and said you need to send someone as soon as possible. If you can’t make it, I can bring someone to fix it and you guys need to pay the money because there is a plumbing problem. They came right away within a couple hours.
But when the guy showed up, he didn’t touch it. He didn’t do anything. He said he can’t remove the toilet to unplug the pipes and he’s not allowed to go on the roof. He said normally the pipe on the roof is open to clean the pipe, but he’s not allowed. So he said, “How are we going to get this resolved?” And then he left.

So I had to call someone on my own outside. He got to the roof and opened them. Now, so far, so good. That’s what happened with the plumbing.

The first time I called them was actually about the electrician in the garage. The outlet wasn’t working, no power. Someone came and just pushed the GFCI button, the black and red one, and the power came back in the garage. He left in less than a minute. And I pay $100 every time for this.

Then I had another call about the washer. They came back after two weeks. They brought the part and fixed the clothes washer.
I also have a problem with the range hood vent. It’s been one month. Someone came and looked at it and said they have to order the part. After two weeks they came for the washer and I asked about the vent. He said he didn’t know because he was there only for the washer.
Then they sent a message saying they haven’t got the parts yet and they move it further. Someone showed up maybe a month later and said he’s missing more parts and needs to order again. So it’s taking longer.
This is inside the house. When we make food, the smoke stays inside because the vent is not working. It’s going to mess up my house from inside, the paint especially, because the paint is brand new.

So to be honest, I’m not happy with this service. The service is too slow. They haven’t fixed anything so far except the washer.

The experience with American Home Shield has been good. We've had a refrigerator that’s broken down so many times since last summer – and they just keep replacing the parts. This last time was the third time already. That's how they do it, and I'm good with that as long as my freezer-refrigerator works.

When I reached out to AHS, I didn’t do it online. I spoke to a real person, and the customer experience was good. They sent someone, explained the process, took the payment, and then somebody called me within 24 to 48 hours.

AZA Repair is always nice. They call right away to make an appointment. They're fast and reliable, and they always show up for the appointment and never canceled. They have not given me any issues about anything. They always ask if I have other issues that need taking care of in my home, so I'm happy with them. Andre, who’s from Ukraine, is a kind, good person. He doesn't talk much and is not very people-friendly, but he answers my questions.

American Home Shield has been great. It does take a week to get any replacement done, if needed. Case in point was my washing machine, where a technician came out five or six times trying to fix it before AHS finally said it needs to be replaced, so that was a little aggravating. Other than that, it's been pretty easy.

A good plus for them is that they do well in getting it out quickly. As soon as I put in a claim, I get a phone call from the contractor the next day, and then we get it scheduled. When the downstairs heat of our two-unit system stopped working all of a sudden, I submitted a claim through the app or online. It was easy. A-Advanced called me to ask what was going on and said a technician would come out to look at it.

That guy, Joey, was great and very knowledgeable. He diagnosed the problem right off the bat and said he was going to order the part and get it back out there to fix it. But it’s weird because after a week, a different person came out and rediagnosed the issue as the thermostat. He ordered one and put it in the following week, but that didn't fix the issue. He was professional and cool, but it didn't seem like he knew what he was doing.

So, they sent Joey back out, who found that the problem was a house centipede that had gotten on one of the 240 elements in there, causing a short in the system. He took off the bug and cleaned up the appliance, replaced the amp or the fuse, and everything has been working fine since.

I had an astronomical gas bill shortly after we moved into the house, and I just wanted to make sure the furnace was safe. The initial claim with American Home Shield was denied. The first company that came out was M&P Heating & Cooling and they were very noncommittal about everything.

I called and asked for a second opinion and that’s when they got Delgado to come out. Their tech was very knowledgeable and polite. He’s somebody you could easily make friends with. He inspected the furnace and found out that the heat exchanger was cracked. The tech couldn’t fix the problem because the furnace was too old. He red tagged the furnace so we had to finance a new one. When they came out to install the furnace, Delgado sent three people out, and they worked all day until they had that furnace running. My house is now warm.

We got American Home Shield when we bought the new house right around Christmas on the recommendation of our Realtor. My only grievance with them was that they never called me back to tell me the first claim was denied. I had to make a follow-up call to find out. But they took care of the problem. I’ve already recommended AHS to other people.

He put a new computer in it, but he said it still didn’t work. He had to call American Home Shield and said they want a second opinion. Sure enough, they got another company to come out and it was Sears. The repairman ordered some parts and I’ve got one of them in and the other one is supposed to be here. I’ve had AHS for quite a while. There were a few problems where I had to wait but that’s expected. They’ve done really good with everything so far. One thing I like best about it is, if something happens, you don’t have to worry about going and getting another washer, heat pump or anything. If anything happens, they’ll probably get it fixed for you. It’s a good thing to have for security.

I’m concerned about the money that I’ve invested in American Home Shield and still haven’t gotten any satisfaction. I have nothing good to say about them. I switched from Sears Home Service where I was getting good service from because someone else who had American Home Shield recommended it to me. Well, they haven’t been good for me and I would not recommend them to anybody else. It’s a rip-off and I have nothing good to say about them. My last work request has still not been finished and it’s just a very frustrating experience trying to get help when I need it.

The most recent claim was for my stovetop. They started the procedure by sending a technician out to diagnose and fix it. He was smelly and very unkempt-looking. He smelled up my whole house. He went to the stovetop and used some equipment he had to look at my electrical outlets. He couldn’t speak English but through sign language and a text he put on my phone, he said that the electricity that the stovetop was plugged into wasn’t working so he couldn’t do anything with the stove. He tried to get me to sign a paper when he left but I didn’t sign it.

As he was leaving, my son was coming in. I told my son what the guy said so he went over to the outlet, plugged in my electric coffee pot and it worked. He looked underneath the stovetop and made sure that that plug was plugged in. So, there was nothing wrong with the electricity.

I called American Home Shield back and told them that I did not sign the technician’s report because I didn’t trust him to give a good one. Then I told them what happened after the guy left when my son plugged in the appliances in the same outlet and the outlet worked. So, they said they were going by the report that he turned in, which was faux inadequate, and that they wanted to send an electrician. I said okay but it’s a wasted effort because the outlets work. The electrician came a week later. He did whatever he was supposed to check and said that there’s nothing wrong with the electric and that the outlets are working.

I told AHS not to send back another technician from the contractor they sent them from because that was a dishonest person who didn’t do anything. So, now, I haven’t heard anything else and I’m left hanging. I made that request for the stovetop almost a month ago, yet my stovetop is still in need of diagnosis and repair or replacement.

I paid for that work order ahead of time and still have not received any service from it. I’m 81 years old on a limited budget and that money is being wasted. I’m not getting prompt service or a decent turnaround time for request that I made. I don’t feel like I have made many requests that would deserve them not responding quickly. I only made one other request to them and that was slow response also. I just feel like they’re trying to avoid giving me the services I’m requesting.

I’m very upset and I’m very close to finding another service. I’ve been paying my payments every month but whenever I put in a work request, I gotta pay a big fee before they even come through to do anything. All they’re doing is taking money and to me, that’s double charging. I didn’t have to do that with Sears. But now, it’s like I’m still paying for something that I’m supposed to be insured. It’s very discouraging.

We were with another home warranty since 2017, but their annual subscription just kept going up. We decided to switch to American Home Shield because it seemed better to have a lower monthly payment and just pay a little more for the service calls, and it was definitely worth the $125 we spent. We’ve been with them for two years now, and when we renewed, they actually gave us another discount, which was great.

Recently, we had to file a claim because we thought our garbage disposal was going out, but it actually turned out to be an issue with our kitchen sink. The plumber came out and said, “No, it’s not the garbage disposal. You have a clog.” He went right in, did the snake, and took care of business very well. He was done in about 45 minutes.

The technician was very professional, polite, and clean. He did a really good job and the service was just great. We loved it.

I have two different accounts. I have a different home that I have American Home Shield on, plus this home that I live in. I’ve had it for a while now. I don't understand what the problem is. I've never had any problems before until this home.

The claim was for the faucet in the restroom upstairs, of the bathtub. It was running constantly. It would continue to run when it’s turned off. I had to open up two different claims on this because of the way it was put in in the first place. On the first time Sancho Services came out, they weren’t prepared to repair anything. The guy took a look at what needed to be repaired and said he didn't have the part.

They sent another repair person back out. I’d already taken off work for it to be repaired the first day, and it wasn’t repaired, so I couldn’t take off again. The second time they came back, I had to have someone else at the house for him to repair it. When he got there, he had an attitude with my mother-in-law. It’s like he didn’t wanna repair anything in the first place. He had a helper with him, but he didn’t want to repair it. When he got there, he started looking at it and told me that it had been tampered with. Nothing was tampered with. He said he couldn’t repair it, and I told him that was fine and to just leave.

Sancho Services called me back a couple of days later and said they could just come out and make the repair, but it was too late. I had already had to take off work, and this was crazy because I was already paying for them to send someone out and missing work, and then they didn’t repair it. It was just a waste of time. I said I would just repair it myself, and I ended up repairing it my damn self.

When I called American Home Shield to tell them what happened, I said I wanted to be refunded because they didn’t do anything. They didn’t refund me. I was told I was gonna get a refund, but I never got a refund.

I absolutely love American Home Shield. I’ve been a client of theirs for many years, 2017 is when I first started. They’re absolutely amazing and they truly stand behind what they say. They do exactly what they say on their website. When they say fix it or replace it, it’s exactly what they do. I’ve never ever had them argue on fixing something.

I did the claim with American Home Shield online, through the app, and it was extremely easy. They informed me the date and time the contractor was supposed to be there. The contractor contacted me that morning before he arrived and he was here on time, actually a little bit early. He was very nice, polite, and very professional.

The washer wasn’t draining the water. He asked me what the problem was and goes, “Well, I think I know what the problem is.” He told me it was a pump motor. He wasn’t sure if he had one in his work van, which he did. He replaced it and the thing for the agitator. While he was here, he just took care of everything within about 35 minutes.

When I lived in Herculaneum, I had a sink faucet in the kitchen. It was plastic, and the guy said I’ll just be replacing it again in another year or two. When he went to the hardware store, he got a real stainless steel metal one. He said it was no extra charge for the upgrade because it'd be better to replace it with the quality one instead of something that they’d be back out to replace in a year or so.

American Home Shield is worth the monthly price and the one-time service call for peace of mind to know that you can call them. Get either that day or within a couple days, get on a schedule to come out. Whatever your issue is will be fixed professionally and done right. Friendly, ease of use. It was great. It was 100%. Just great to have in my corner when I need something.

Every time I call, someone will be here and take care of it, and I'm happy. If they have an emergency and can’t come, then they'll tell me to get an outside contractor. I tell friends who don’t have it to please get American Home Shield.

I don’t do business with it online. I only go to the website to look at my other account – because I have two – to make sure everything is running smoothly.

The last person who came out was from 3H Electric LLC, and he was very professional. He looked at the situation and knew exactly what to do, as he’s been doing it for a long time. He replaced the ceiling fan because the motor on the other one went out.

Over the course of the last couple of years, it's crap. The problem is their contractors. I had some washer or dryer problems. And the contractor they sent out had a Better Business review rating of F. It was the same contracting company that came to look at my microwave. Quite tremendous issues with that guy. Actually had to get a second opinion. But their contractors, there are a couple of them I won't let in my house anymore. I don't recall their names off the top of my head, but I have notes on them.

They all have been very polite and take the time to explain exactly what's going on, or what can be done and what can't be done. They even give you information regarding the maintenance and care that should be done when they leave. So I like the educational process that the contractors give. The furnace wasn't putting out heat. I called in and talked to somebody from Home Shield. They serviced the furnace, and then they located the problem. They let me know that the parts that needed to be replaced were not available for purchase. So they had to replace the whole furnace because of that. It took a couple of weeks. One of the reasons it took so long was the extra money I had to pay out for the service that Home Shield didn't cover, which I wasn't aware of. I thought Home Shield would cover the whole process, but they didn't. So I had to put some extra money out there to take care of that. And the furnace is working fine now. It's beautiful. No problem. It's a good insurance to have because you'll never know when you're gonna need some repairs around the house. And you may not have any extra money on hand like that. A furnace is expensive to replace.

The speed and the quickness when I call, something is taken care of. I have several things taken care of by Home Shield. I had a refrigerator that wasn't cooling. They end up replacing it because of the age of the refrigerator. Kind of the same incident. They couldn't find replacement parts. I had a dishwasher that wasn't draining. They fixed that. They found the parts and replaced them. The service was good. They did a great job. I have no complaints.

Good day, Marcos. Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with us.

We understand that any time the cost of the service plan rises, some of our customers will not be happy with the change. However, this is not a decision that is made lightly by AHS' leadership. The cost of the home warranty is tied to current market conditions. It is an unfortunate truth that the cost of almost all services and goods are increasing. Despite this, AHS works to provide access to qualified technical vendors who can reduce the overall service expense for a homeowner. You have experienced this yourself recently. The plumber who came to your home was able to resolve the service issue at only the cost of the paid service fee.

I understand that while you were pleased with the service that this technician rendered, you were less than pleased with the time frame in which he arrived. Technicians typically schedule multiple calls back to back, and they tend to remain at a call until it has been completed. This can lead to instances in which they may arrive outside of the scheduled appointment time for a later call. I apologize that the vendor arrived later than scheduled for your appointment. If you feel that this is a dealbreaker, and that you'd rather not deal with that particular vendor again, we can place them on a listing for your account which will prevent them from being assigned to you in the future. You can reach out to our team directly and request that a vendor be placed on your 'refused vendor' listing.

You also expressed concern with not being able to understand some of our agents. I can offer the option of reaching out to our team via the links found at https://www.ahs.com/contact/. You may place service requests with us via online chat or via social media.

We value your business. Thanks for being a customer of AHS.

The problem wasn’t with American Home Shield. It was with the Sears technicians they sent out. This was back in January. The first technician said, “It’s either this or this, so I’ll order both parts.” He ordered the parts, installed them, said it was working, and left. But when we actually tried it later, we still had the same problem.

They sent another technician who read the notes from the first one and said, “Okay, then it has to be this.” He came out again because the problem was still happening. He thought the new part fixed it, but it didn’t. He apologized and said he hadn’t checked the bottom coil and that it was bad. He ordered that part for the third guy, and when the third guy came out and installed it, it finally worked.

The last technician said it should have been the first thing they checked. I don’t completely agree with that. They should have checked everything they could, used their meters everywhere and ruled out all possibilities. If more than one part had been bad, it would have caused repeat visits anyway.

This went on for about seven weeks. Each time they came out, they analyzed it, ordered parts, and waited for them to come in. When the problem repeated, it added another week. There were four total visits, with about three weeks between them waiting for parts, which is why the whole process took seven weeks.

In a former part of my life, I was in the air‑conditioning business with my family. We had highly skilled technicians, and we always said there’s a difference between hiring inexpensive parts changers who just swap parts until something finally works, versus someone who actually comes out and diagnoses the problem. Unfortunately, this time, I think we ended up with parts changers. The only upside is that we now have a lot of new parts in the oven, so it should work like a brand‑new one for many years.

On the American Home Shield side, things were okay overall. My main issue was having to call them repeatedly. A lot of the time, the phone connection itself seemed poor, not roaring, just echoing. Technically, it was a bad connection almost every time I called.

The first time it happened, I thought it was just one of those things. But when it kept happening, it seemed like there was something in their system that made it hard to understand people. I had to ask them to repeat themselves several times.

I don’t have a problem with what American Home Shield did. But you can judge a company by the people they send out, and Sears let them down. That said, American Home Shield’s customer service was fine. They were polite, did their job, and got Sears out there.

If the warranty can find the right person to do the job, that would be helpful. A lot of times, they don’t find the right people. These days, It doesn’t seem as good as it used to be in the past.

But being single, owning a house, and not having a lot of extra money, I felt it was a smart decision to at least try it in case something came up. I didn’t even need to use it for the first year and a half, but in the end, it worked out very well.

I had a house fire, so I temporarily stopped the policy. The only complaint I have is that when I tried to stop it, it was very difficult, and I was still charged. I didn’t understand that, and it wasn’t explained to me. That’s the only complaint I had.

I eventually came back to American Home Shield without looking at any other companies because I was already familiar with them. There was some confusion with my address, and we had a little trouble getting the numbers straightened out, but that worked out.

I need to review what my coverage includes, because part of a repair wasn’t covered and I wasn’t sure why. It was explained to me clearly, and I plan to look at it again to see if I need more coverage or need to change anything. But I don’t expect to need a new hot water heater for a long time, hopefully.

Sometimes when I call, I don’t always get someone who speaks English very clearly, and it can be difficult to understand. That’s a tough situation. I don’t want to say it’s negative, but it can be frustrating when you’re trying to understand them and explain yourself at the same time.

The plumber also called while we were discussing the extra cost, because I had to make a decision. He didn’t have the same experience at all. He got someone who spoke English much more clearly than the person I spoke with when I called.

Overall, my experience with American Home Shield has been very positive. I’m very pleased with it and plan to keep it. For what it’s meant to do, it’s very handy. And for what I pay, it’s very affordable for me, which is always a concern.

I called American Home Shield to file a claim. It was a little hard to understand the people on the phone, but we got it done. Our washing machine wasn’t working properly. It wouldn’t turn on, and I was having trouble locking the door. The technicians had to order parts, and once the parts came, they took care of it right away.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for over 10 years. They’re like any insurance company. They try to avoid paying when they can, so you have to follow up and make sure you hold their feet to the fire. In this case, they were going to replace the washing machine with a lower‑grade model. I’ve had to push them to upgrade it to a comparable machine, but they are doing it.

It’s always has been wonderful dealing with American Home Shield for the many years we've been with them. Recently, we had an issue with our bathroom upstairs, where the tub was clogged and they were very responsive. The contractors who came out had been here previously for a different issue, they were great to work with, and the tub is working perfectly.

American Home Shield sent 95 Appliance Services out to repair the dishwasher and the technician was great. He had to order a part, but he was able to fix it, and it’s been working fine since then.

It's been amazing having American Home Shield. I've been with them for three years and I’ve been very satisfied. The price is fair for the quality of service I’ve gotten. Whenever something happens, I can easily get stuff repaired and they do a great job. My most recent repair was for my microwave. The company that came had been here before and they’ve always been great.

The process of getting someone out for service was quite fast. I sent the request online, then I got an email or text telling me what company was coming out. I called American Home Shield and then called Hers & His plumbing and quickly scheduled the service call. A totally great guy came out, checked out our water heater, and he did some adjustments to the electronics. He noted it might not be a long-term fix because it was old, and that model was no longer made. But we’ve got hot water for now and the equipment's not running cold.
