I live in a coastal beach town with very expensive homes and I tell my friends that they've got to get a warranty with AHS, especially if they’re single women living alone. Even though they might not use it in one year, they might the next. I have AHS for five years now and I recently submitted a claim with them on the phone because the mechanism for the lock on the door of my washer broke. The rep I talked to gave me the number of people that would be contacting me and my claim was handled perfectly. That’s why I continue having my Home Shield. But I prefer getting a hard copy of my bill and the reminder to pay it. I have the skill to pay it online but I don’t want to do anything online with my credit card.

My air conditioner stopped adjusting wind and the wind peaks up. I filed a claim with American Home Shield over the phone and it was amazing that their guy came really quick because we are not home all the time. He was on time and he detected the problem right away and he fixed it. There was a little piece that had to be replaced, which was something very minor. And everything was good.
I also have a second home that I have with AHS and I’m very upset. I had issues with the garage door and the washing machine and dryer. The garage door went very good but when the guy came for the washing machine and dryer, he told me that he couldn't do any test with the dryer because gas comes out and it’s very dangerous. He said I had to find the opening and he couldn't do it legally because we can’t have this gas. And my husband said he was so unprofessional because we have no gas in the house. So, it was just an excuse not to do the job. And then the washing machine is jumping and almost breaking my tiles every time. It’s a common issue and there is a small piece that they have to change. But he never came back so I called the company to ask what was going on. And they said that from the report, AHS doesn’t cover noise. I’m busy but as soon as I have a few days off, I will make phone calls to the company and complain.

We’ve been with them since 2004 and submitted dozens of claims. We file claims over the phone and have a great dealing with their reps. Their technicians were all good but I’ve had two experiences that have not been so well. The first one was for the swimming pool heaters. Before I bought the house, it was inspected and AHS issued the warranty. Then three years later, when the pool heater stopped working, I called and asked them to come out and look at it. They said that something about it had been improperly installed so they were not going to recognize the claim. I contended that it was inspected before and there were no issues with it. They had come out a couple of times for different things then fixed them and yet, they declined to fix this one.
And then, just recently, I had a timer box that went out in the swimming pool and it turns the pool and the pool cleaning on and off. They said that they no longer made that style so they weren’t going to honor it. My contention was, “Yeah, the pool was built in 2001 and I’m making a claim in 2017. It’s like a car. You don’t have the same model. It’s an outdated version and you need to convert it.” They said they wouldn’t do it and I had to pay out of pocket to have a very basic switch installed. I was upset about those claims and I still am. Other than that, I’m impressed with the product all throughout, their technicians and their timeliness.
I chose them because of their record and I have no plans at this time to change unless some significant event occurs that I either get upset or offered a better deal. I told one of the guys I worked with who just bought a house that he needs to get a home warranty because as soon as something goes out, it’s going to be expensive and he doesn’t have the discretionary money to cover all that. I’ve been satisfied with AHS and suggested it to him.

Recently, the circuit board on my garage door opener burned out. I submitted the claim online and they sent someone to replace it. It's working well now. The techs had to come back once and it only took them a few minutes to finish when they came back. I've called AHS in the past and there was a minor wait time, but it wasn't bad at all. I would highly recommend them.

I had a leak in my house so I reached out to American Home Shield via online. At first, I didn't know where the leak was coming from, but they sent out a leak person. It took a while to get someone scheduled and for something like a leak, you want somebody out as soon as possible to avoid damage. However, he found where it was coming from and repaired it.
Sometimes I file claims via phone, but using the website is easier since the wait on the phone can be lengthy. When I talk to a rep, I tell them the problem I have. Then they may ask me specific questions about it and I'll answer them. It's a good experience. I had a washer and a dishwasher repaired, but they’ve been broken now for years. I'm going to call somebody back out and I wish they would offer some type of replacement. I don't know a lot about mechanics and electricity and it's been good for me to have AHS.

The technician came the same day I put the request in online. However, they had to order the part for the dryer and it took about ten days for the part to get here. The contractor then came out and fixed the dryer, and so far so good. I would recommend AHS because at least I know I have to pay the $75 upfront but the rest will be taken care of by them.

I had a problem with my stove and American Home Shield referred it to someone. I filed the claim over the phone and the rep treated me with a lot of courtesy and respect. We had to change the first company because the tech kept putting it off and calling me with excuses. AHS referred it to another company, and the guy fixed the stove.

I have two air conditioning units and one of them had to be repaired while my house was on the market. I then called American Home Shield. During the first week I was trying to get an appointment, I asked them if they could send someone out on a Saturday and they told me they can't. However, when I called back the contractor, they asked me if they can come on Saturday, and it was great. The technician they sent out was so truthful. He replaced the fan motor. But then, the AC wasn't cooling.
When I called back to make an appointment, he came back and told me that he had to come back and didn't charge me for it. He then found out that my refrigerant gauge which checked the pressure wasn't working. I had to pay for the refrigerant, which was fair. My customer service experience was also really positive. The rep that I talked to calmed my fears and reassured me that they'd have someone come back out. It was great that American Home Shield covered me and took care of it. I really appreciated that because it wasn’t just for my buyer, but it was for me too.

The technician came out about six days after we put in the request for our oven that would not heat up. They determined that it was a heating element and told us that they would order the element, have it shipped to our house, and they would be back the following week to put it in. The part came to our house and they showed up exactly a week later and installed the heating element. The problem was fixed in a timely manner and the oven has worked fine since. The technician was very friendly. He explained everything and made sure we didn't have any questions. Everything went smoothly. Also, the rep was pleasant when I called in. She was very helpful and very concerned about the issue and about making the situation right again, so we could use our oven. I had to wait about 30 minutes before somebody answered, but I understand it's because American Home Shield gets a lot people coming in and calling in.

Everything was good for my first claim to American Home Shield. I did it online and it was pretty simple. They put me in touch with someone after submitting the claim and that company reached out by calling me within 30 minutes. The contractor came out and he figured out what it was. He was knowledgeable. It was the damper in the middle of moving. He plugged the wire back up and that was it. It was pretty pleasant. It took him less than five minutes.

Our garage door opener broke and I submitted a claim over the phone with American Home Shield. It took hours to get through to them and perhaps it was because of the hurricanes and all the damages that were done, but when I spoke with the representatives, they were knowledgeable and they gave me the name of the company that would be handling my claim. The contractor that they sent out was excellent and he knew exactly what he had to do. When we were in LA, we didn’t have good experiences with the people that AHS sent there. But here in Nevada, there are much nicer people. Overall, AHS is sending out good and knowledgeable contractors who understand the needs of the clients. We’re very happy with AHS.

We have more than one property insured by American Home Shield. One of the houses has been on it since 2000. I submitted a claim online and it was easy. We had plumbing done and American Home Shield sent out Poe's Plumbing. We use them all the time and we love them. The contractor was great and was very easy to work with. It was fabulous and we encourage people to get coverage every time they go through a transaction. But every once in a while American Home Shield has a provider that's not great. I have had that experience with American Home Shield where I was told the contractor would come out. Then I'd get called and told it would take them five or six days to come out when it was an urgent matter.

I've submitted two claims with AHS and it was easy to do. The first one was a leak that a gentleman and his wife fixed. They did a great job. The second one was when the dishwasher stopped working. The plumber came and he knew exactly what happened. He realized I had a new garbage disposal, so he tested a couple of things and he said that it was the knockout plug. It was a two-minute job and it was done. However, their online survey has nowhere to hit 'submit'. I had to submit a separate email because I could not put that in the survey. I've complained about that twice now with the two things that I've done and they've not fixed it. Other than that, I'm very pleased with the service and I've always recommended them.

Bobbi, the contractor that they sent from His & Hers Plumbing, was very helpful and knowledgeable. She did everything she had to and even went beyond. American Home Shield first sent a plumber who took care of one part and made arrangements to send another person to fix up the switch. Both contractors that were sent out were good. We had a repeat company called Alex Pool Service come out several times and every time they did, the problem that they came out to fix that I and American Home Shield would be charged for seemed to be a band-aid. The tech came out one time and there was one of the pumps making noise and having issues. I happened to be home, and he looked and said, “Yes, it’s the capacitor,” which I agreed with. Then he said, “I think I have one in my truck.” So he went out to his truck and I happened to be standing there, and he went inside the house and switched the capacitors saying, “The capacitor zipped, I put the capacitor in and it’s working.”
It did work, but I was very skeptical so when he left, I unscrewed the lead. One screw was missing but I found it on the ground and I got the other one. The capacitor he put in was an old one, and that isn’t the way to do things. He pulled it off of a motor that was in his truck that he must replace. I mentioned it to him when he came out the next time for a pool pump that I switched the capacitors. He said, “You shouldn’t be doing that or telling me because it’ll void your warranty.” Needless to say, I’m sure he charged American Home Shield and me for it and the next time he came out, he fixed the problem on the other pump but again it’s like a patch. It seemed like he kept doing the same stuff over and over again, never getting the claim resolved.
I came back from a trip and again, the pool pump was making noise and the bearings were grinding. It would run for maybe two or three hours then it would stop. I called American Home Shield and they sent Alex Pool Service out. The tech came out and said it wasn’t the pump, it was my plumbers unit, which I didn't agree with. He showed me the water pump and said, “It pumps now but the pump is grinding and makes a noise.” I said, “I guarantee that if I leave this on for two or three hours, that pump is going to stop like it has been.” So I went upstairs, he said he fixed it, I came down and I didn’t hear anything. Sure enough, after three hours the pump stopped. It wasn’t running so I went out of town and told my wife to keep an eye on it which she did.
It was funny because twice when he was out, he mentioned my plumbers unit. There’s a plastic thing that goes to the wall and he was messing around with it. Both times after he left, that fitting was broken which I didn’t appreciate. The first time that it was broken, I thought maybe I hit it when I was sweeping the pool. The second time I had just been out there checking the unit and adjusting the pressure because I thought maybe the pressure on this plastic valve should be open. It was open all the way and it was not getting enough pressure. When the tech left, that thing was broken and I had to go and buy myself a new fixture.
I was a little upset with the tech so I called American Home Shield again. I got a text saying Alex Pool Service would be out, and about 30 minutes after that another text came from American Home Shield saying Paddock would be out. The tech from Paddock came out, he looked at the pump and the motor and said, “Obviously this pump is bad. It does grind and then it stops”. He had another guy with him and the other guy fixed the pump.
The bottom line is that looking at the history of how many times Alex Pool Service came out, they seemed to be fixing the same problem of patching it over and over and not with new parts, with old parts and used parts for the pumps and motors. Maybe the guy thought he was doing the right thing by using old parts or just making it work until he gets the next service call. I liked him and he seemed to be good, but I don’t know if that’s American Home Shield's policy or not. The guy that came out from Paddock said the same thing and figured it out quick. Overall I like American Home Shield because I could travel and if something happened to the AC unit, my wife can call up and AHS will send somebody out and fix it.

So far, it has been great with AHS. They can cut the price in half though, but it's nice to have them. Our most recent claim was a plumbing issue. The flush mechanism on both toilets failed so I had to get them replaced. At first, I submitted that claim online, but the lady had some questions. She called back and we had to give her some more information. Sometimes, the rep and I talk back and forth when we forgot to ask something, but it happens and it's no big deal. Customer service was very good. The contractor that came knew what the problem was, he knew what the fix was, and he got it done. I don’t think he spent a total of 20 minutes in the house.

Last August, AHS sent someone to blow the lines of my AC since it was leaking water from both exits outside, the overflow and the second overflow. Then the latest issue is that the motor burned out so it wasn't cooling the house. Although I submitted my claims online, I prefer to deal with the phone. I don't like doing stuff online, but you can't ever get anybody on the phone. The tech they sent out was very efficient, professional, and courteous. Plus, he knew what he was doing. All I had to do was tell him what it wasn't doing. It took a long time because it was hard for him to fix, but he did it. Now, it cools fine but the overflows are both leaking very badly again.

Customer service is horrible. Wait time is always greater than one hour just to talk to someone and you have to repeat yourself so many times and no one knows anything. They say they will call back with answers and no one ever does. It takes 5 min to pay and get the service they ate fast about that but when you need actual service it is damn near impossible to talk to someone, it's like they want it to be such a pain in the ass to get help. You don't even call. You just quit and they get out of having to pay or fix the items you need repaired. They have sent 2 different companies out to my house and I have paid twice the tech fee of 125 dollars and my system is still broken. It has been a week since last tech went to house and I still have heard of nothing. They say they got a state of the art online deal to request repairs or check status of service and it is **, does not help you out at all.
Since last week I have tried calling several times and have been on hold every time so long I end up hanging up because I have other things to do. This is a screenshot of the last time I was on the phone with them and I still didn't get to talk to anyone. But if you try to purchase devices from them when you press the number to purchase new services someone is on the other line seems like within a minute. They are quick to sell services but when you need the services it's almost like no one exists to contact.

We had no choice in choosing a home warranty. Home Shield was purchased by the seller of our home during escrow. September 2017, I called to have three appliances fixed, which came with the sale of our new home. We were on the fence to spend the $75 or not to have them fixed. We knew we were going to remodel in January. However, we also had company coming for three weeks in November. Our dishwasher is not working well so we decided to call and have it repaired along with two other appliances.
A AND G appliances, are sent out to do the repair, by HS. They arrive on Oct 4th. They are in my home approximately 30 minutes to look at three appliances. I am told my dishwasher is fixed and they need to order parts for the other two. I realized immediately, the problem is not fixed with the dishwasher was. I called A And G approximately 5 minutes after they leave. I am told, "Ok we will let the technician know when he comes in later today."
Three weeks later I get a call that the parts are on back order. (End of October just before our company arrives) Two week into November, I call A And G to find out what is up. I am told everything is still on back order. I wait another week then call HS. (I am on hold for approximately an hour.) The rep calls A And G while I am on hold with her. She finds out the parts will be in this Friday. (The Friday within the week I am calling. A week before Thanksgiving.)
Thanksgiving and our company came and went and it is now December. I call HS on December 5th, I am on hold for 1 hour and 45 minutes. A rep from Atlanta picks up. I explain my issue and tell her my story. At this point we have already purchased new appliances for our remodel in January, I have still not heard from A and G, and we do not need to repairs anymore. I am used to handwashing my dishes at this point. So I tell her I would like my $75 that I paid for A and G to FIX my appliances, which has not been done. She tells me "that does NOT happen in any circumstance." I get a bit upset at this point. I have been totally inconvenienced and not serviced.
So she tells me, "I will ask the department that handles this, tomorrow when they reopen, and call you back tomorrow with their answer." She never called me the next day or any day. It is now December 11, 2017, 10 weeks, at least, from the date of my original call. I am on hold again, at this point it has been 48 minutes and no answer. I never got a call back from HS or A And G, and everything is still broken. Do not use this company! They are not professional, you will sit on hold for 1 to 2 hours every time you call, they do not follow up, need I go on. They are the Worst! We will not be renewing our warranty with them in August.

AHS is a complete SCAM. I became a customer in October and shortly after needed assistance on 10/23. I reached out to AHS to schedule someone to look at my oven. After multiple scheduling blunders and no shows, I finally had someone out on 10/30 to look at the oven. The tech said it was a super easy fix and that all the oven needed was a new hinge. They said it was covered and that they would order the part, with a lead time of 7-10 business days.
After not hearing back for 3+ weeks from AHS or the local outfit they outsourced the work to, I called the local company. They told me that the part had to be ordered with AHS and that it was arriving the next day, GREAT! After a few more days without contact, I called AHS and waited on hold for 95 minutes before being forced to hang up because I had to tend to a newborn child. Finally, I got in touch with AHS after waiting over an hour again on a subsequent call.
I explained to AHS that at this point, it had been over a month since I opened a service request for a simple hinge to be replaced (if I could get the part, I could install it myself). They went on to tell me that it wasn't AHS's fault and that I SHOULD HAVE READ THE FINE PRINT in the agreement before accepting the terms and conditions. When I asked to speak with a manager, politely, I was denied. She told me that there's no one to talk to that will change anything. After over 45 minutes on the phone with someone who could not care less, I accomplished NOTHING.
Here I am on December 11th with a 6+ week issue that isn't resolved. I called the local company again this morning and NOW THEY TELL ME THERE WAS NEVER AN ORDER IN AHS' system. They said AHS apologized and said it must have been a new person who was working that day and that they failed to place the order. It would be at best another 2 weeks before the part comes in to stock!!! I signed up for a service that I have yet to receive. Now, I've paid three monthly payments and have received ZERO SERVICE, ZERO EMPATHY AND ZERO APOLOGIES.
This service should only be purchased by people who simply cannot afford to take on the cost of replacing an expensive appliance, at which point you should still consider that there are low limits on what they'll cover for existing appliances. You'd be better served not having this service and taking out a loan to replace an appliance if you cannot afford the cost of replacing something. I am an extremely logical person and have exercised patience at multiple points in this process, only to be treated like crap. Complete SCAM, BUYER BEWARE.

When my heater was not working, I requested for service online with American Home Shield and they were very prompt. I got an email back stating the company that's going to be coming out. I was impressed. The contractor was awesome. He called me and made sure that I knew everything that was going on because I was at work. He also let me know that he had to order a part, which was going to take about two days, but he called me later that day and said that he found the part, which means that he was looking for it. And he came out the next day to fix it. He was very professional and knowledgeable and he got the job done, and I definitely would use him again.
The heater is working well since the repair. We experienced really warm temperatures a few days later, and when I tried to turn the AC on, it won't come on. So, I reached back out to the contractor who came out to fix the issue with my heater before I put in another claim with AHS. I called him and when he answered the phone, he remembered who I was after I gave him a few pointers on how our home looked. I told him that the AC was no longer coming on and he said he'd come back and he did the next day after I talked to him. I liked that he was accountable. He apologized and told me that in the midst of him trying to take the broken piece out for my heater, it maybe had hit a switch for the AC. In some kind of way, he said that I have a newer kind of furnace and the heater piece that was broken was connected to my AC unit. But now my AC is working.
I just hope American Home Shield doesn't keep going up on the prices. They went up twice since I've had it, and I still want it to be affordable so that whoever I refer to the program, they can at least afford it. But I love American Home Shield. It's a great service, and every homeowner should have some form of a shield on the things that are in their home. It can save thousands of dollars and they just pay a service fee, and the company will come out and fix the issue as long as they make a call and let them know what's going on. I also would recommend homeowners to make sure they keep the manufacturer instructions of their appliances in a box or in a folder somewhere. So, if it ever goes out, they have all the information right then and there, to let American Home Shield know exactly what kind of appliance they had. From my experience, we had to pull everything down and look at serial numbers because I totally didn't have anything.

They told me that it was what's covered under my contract. But I never received the contract because I signed up online, so I didn’t know this. The rep said I could get a payout and he transferred me to a claims adjuster. I waited on the phone for half an hour only to find out from this lady that the person I was speaking to earlier could have told this information and put the form in for me. Nevertheless, she was more helpful than the guy I spoke to the first time. She said that if I had my contract, I could have read Section “I” and it would have told me that since I have a boiler system, the contract only covers $1500 dollars. If I would have had a gas heater, it would have been covered. They could have told me this before.
She put the claim in for the payout and told me that the reps were working on Wednesday calls and they should call me back on Tuesday. She told me that American Home Shield will send me a check once I prove that the work is done. So, I have to pay out of pocket first and get someone else to do the work. But no one has called me yet and I still have no heat. This has been going on before Thanksgiving and when you call the corporate number, it just rings and then it hangs up. I’m very dissatisfied with American Home Shield.

A tenant is in my house and the refrigerator went bad a month ago, so she did the claim submission with American Home Shield. Every once in a while I deal with AHS myself but I haven't done that for the last couple of years. Sometimes it takes a little too long to get stuff done and then one issue that I'm having now is that the price went up and I'm wondering if the price is going up again because if it is, I'm going to have to replace them with somebody else.

A dishwasher wasn’t working. It took almost a month to fix. The first time, the guy didn’t know what was wrong and he thought it had to be replaced. Then another guy came and he thought it needed a part so he ordered the part. When he was supposed to put the part in, it hadn’t come. So he had to come back another time. But the dishwasher works now. I had two other experiences that weren’t that bad, but it sucks that American Home Shield wants to fix something that should probably be replaced so it will settle until my contract’s not around anymore.

We just moved into the house right before the AC broke down. The first time, it wasn't running at all. It would start and there was no air moving at all. The second time, everything was running but it was just running hot air through the house. I submitted the claim online and it was very easy. The contractor was wonderful. They were efficient, very helpful and fast. They got it taken care of and they're very convenient. Cool air is now coming out very strong and everything should be going really well. We will definitely be renewing our contract with American Home Shield and we’ve been telling everybody how glad we are to have them.

We moved to a new home and had a leak in our water heater. I submitted a claim over the phone with American Home Shield and their process was fair. But we had to wait 5 days for the first contractor to come out and when he did, he was not professional and he did not tell the truth. He went upstairs in the attic with his iPad, came back down, then told us that he'd call American Home Shield and get back with us. Then AHS called us and said that they couldn't cover the repair because the problem was with our roof. But the guy never told us that that was the problem. Plus, there was nothing from the roof that would cause the water heater to be damaged within the inside.
So my husband was really upset that AHS' rep just took the first tech's word for it. Then the same lady sent all these letters out and asked us if we wanted them to give us $300 on getting a new heater. That has never happened to us and it made us think it was something underhand. My husband said no to her offer and told her to just give us some ideas on how to get a second opinion. That's when everything got better.
Another young lady called, got our information on how we felt the service was, and told us that they could replace the water heater but we’ll be responsible for our piping. We were okay with that. The communication with her was very consistent but it was not with their other people. Then the second contractor came out and he was so professional. He went upstairs, looked at everything, came back down, and told us exactly what he saw. He said the leak was caused by the wear and tear of the inside of our old water heater. Then he called his company, his company called AHS, and everything was settled right there on the phone. And the very next day, they brought the new appliance in. So our claim was handled very well. But we told AHS that we don’t want the first guy back at our house again.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield for a garbage disposal that went bad and it was replaced. The difficult part of my experience was calling them on the phone. I was waiting online for about 75 minutes just to speak to someone there, which I thought was a very bad business. Once I finally got someone, it was fine. They sent someone over from a local plumbing company and they fixed it, which took about half an hour. AHS reps seem to understand what I needed and were able to respond to my request very quickly. The contractor was very professional, very helpful and did the work very quickly. My garbage disposal is working very well now. I'd tell a friend that getting a home warranty was worth it if they were living in a house that has a lot of older appliances in it.

I hate American Home Shield. My furnace quit working. I called in and told them I was scheduled to go out of town and I needed some immediate reaction. This was after waiting an hour and a half to talk to some live body. They came back and would not do anything. I had two furnace repair people come out. Both didn’t know what the issue was but they knew it’s not working right. American Home Shield said, "Tough." And so, I went ahead and bought a new furnace and paid for it to be installed myself. American Home Shield has the worst customer service people I’ve ever ran into. I’m sorry I’ve used them for four years, and I’m not renewing with them. I wouldn’t touch their company again with a 10-foot pole. I will tell everybody I know not to use them. Also, I'd tell all the real estate people I know to not recommend them.
I understand your concerns with the delay in service you experienced to have the furnace repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and help resolve the ongoing issues as soon as possible.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for several years. We have the Fisher & Paykel washer-dryer system and they had a hard time finding a service person on their list who can come here to work on the washer that broke down. It took a good solid week to get somebody down here to work on it. We had to go to the clean washer for a while and that was the bad side. The good side was that we had good response on everybody else that we've had problems with, mostly with the air conditioning, heat pump related and dishwasher stuff.
Recently, I have two heat pump systems for the house and my upstairs heat pump is not working so I called American Home Shield but the company that they were going to contract with us had not responded within the 24 hours that they're supposed to respond. So, I called them and left a message on their voicemail saying, “Hey, what's going on?” But the contractors that have shown up have all been very professional. Our house has got some age to it, therefore, I am continuing to contract with them because we keep having things go wrong. But if it was a newer home, I'd probably have them just for the first year and then let it go from there.

I've filed numerous claims with American Home Shield but my home in southeast Arkansas is isolated and with very few available service folks willing to work with AHS or even available on AHS’ list of vendors to provide the services so we finally just said we'll just start saving the money and do it ourselves. With the few vendors that there are they want me to pay them and then let AHS reimburse. The process of going through it and getting someone to even come out to do the estimate anyway, was just a hassle. So if you live in a larger metropolis or a larger city I would recommend AHS but if you live in a rural and sparsely populated area do not do it with AHS.

I had giant leak and I was running water through a tank in my garage out my driveway for four days, and I couldn't stop it. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield and their contractor seemed to fix everything. They were cool guys. The Triad guys, Mike and his assistant, were good and really easy to communicate with. It was Saturday when I texted them and sent in the ticket. I also sent them pictures. They immediately texted me on my phone and told me they'll have a tech come out the same day. It was resolved a lot faster than I thought it would be. So when they told me I got to pay $500 to have my other stuff updated to code, I said, "Okay, fine, whatever".
The rest has been a decent experience, if not great, and to the point where I'm going to keep my warranty on the help. AHS should thank Triad Repair for being stellar and making the whole process. A warranty company can only go as fast as their repairmen, and Triad definitely complemented the whole system. Everything’s working perfect now. But I wish my code stuff was covered under the default plan with AHS. I was a little shorted and when I re-upped my plan, it wasn't something that they told me. I have a 15 year old house and they would have said something like, "If we have to come replace stuff, 95% of the time we're going to have some code upgrades. It's just state law and federal law". That really needs to be communicated a lot better. American Home Shield as a whole is very useful. But if they could add code support, I’d pay an extra $ 5 or $6 a month for it. Some of it was covered, like $100, and it was still $500.

My stove broke and so I had to file a claim with American Home Shield. The contractor kept on rescheduling it and canceling it and rescheduling it. It went way past my original due date on my contract but because the ticket was already opened previously, we were able to extend it. But it took two months and five reschedules for us to get them out there. It was just one burner and the guy looked at it in 15 minutes and then said he had to order a part and had it sent to my house via UPS. He was awesome and was real efficient once he was there. And everything's working now.
The only other thing that we were having issues with is our AC. But every time we got somebody out there to go look at it, they said everything was fine. But we got to do master resets on the AC because it freezes on us. And so we'd like to actually figure out our AC problem. The guy, he came out and told us that by summer, we're going to a whole new unit. That's going to cost us thousands of dollars. But because it wasn't acting up when he came out, the two times that I paid the $75 for the AC, it was just wasted trip, wasted money.

I’ve been with American Home Shield for a little more than a year and have filed two or three claims. I do them over the phone and the representatives in calls are good. It’s the matter of getting to them that is ridiculous. I often had to wait 30 minutes to even more than an hour. As for the technicians, we had one issue that I reported and they sent a different company out to take care of the problem that I was having. The plumber that came out said he didn’t know how to fix the problem and that he will send out a more experienced plumber. We waited two or three weeks and nobody called or came out. And when I called the plumbing service, they were like, “Oh, that got closed.” And I was like, “Well, how did you close it if it’s not done?” Then they said, “We didn’t know it wasn’t done.”
I then called American Home Shield and again had to wait an hour for them to answer the phone, and they said, “We’re going to send another company out.” There is also a toilet issue in my house now and the plumber’s supposed to come out today. American Home Shield takes care of things quickly. I just don’t like waiting on the phone forever to get to them.

I do claims on the phone 'cause I want to talk to someone in person so I can explain what's going on so that they would know what to be looking for when they show up. If I tried to do it online, I could give them a synopsis but I wouldn’t be sure that they would understand what I was trying to get at. It usually takes a while to get to them but when I do, they're fairly helpful. The girl whom I talked to was really nice and helpful. She gave me the direction as to where I should go with my claim.
I called American Home Shield up recently and told them my washer wasn’t working. They arranged to have Golden Appliance come out and look at it. The guy who came out said that the washer needed to be repaired but he didn’t think that it was repairable. He said that he was going to recommend replacement. He told me to call them and American Home Shield said that they agreed my washer needs to be replaced. I’ve had American Home Shield for 12 years and they’d never replaced anything that I’ve ever called up about. This was really shocking that I could actually do that.
American Home Shield sent me an email with the appliance that they recommended to replace my washer with and they work with three companies, Sears, Whirlpool and GE. I looked at their recommendation but the piece they chose was 37 inches and mine's only 27 inches so there was no way it was going to fit in there, especially with my dryer there. Then they told me that I could go out to Best Buy or Sears and find a replacement. So I went to Sears and Best Buy to look at washers. There was one at Best Buy that’s reasonable and the one at Sears was more expensive so I didn’t know whether they would give it to me or not.
On their website that they sent me, it said that if I decide not to choose one of the items that they go with, the Sears, the GE or the Whirlpool, then they would give me $600 off on whatever I chose. I didn't get a clarification from them though and this was what I assumed but I figured, first, I had to get the order done. So, I ordered the washer and I ordered a dryer too ‘cause I wanted them to be equal. I knew they’re only going to pay for the washer but the one I had picked out was $599 so that would make it even. I had it installed today and although I haven’t called AHS back yet to find out what goes on from there on out, I am imagining that they’re going to send me a check for $600.

Sometimes American Home Shield keeps things pretty close. When I first moved into this house, there was an issue with a pressure reduction valve that is located between the house and water meter outside. The policy states that the pressure reduction valve is covered, but they attempted to say that it would not be since it was outside the boundaries of the foundation. They finally agreed to pay for part of it rather than getting a long-protracted discussion.
I recently submitted a claim online for the air conditioning that was not working. The contractor that was sent knew what he was doing and he corrected the problem. American Home Shield's website was very easy to use. Overall, AHS is a good deal especially if you have an older home where major components are more likely to break down. In a brand-new home, the warranty would probably be of lesser value.

I like American Home Shield and I have been with them for five years. Recently, I had a claim for my air conditioning central unit. Every year, it would have to be recharged because every spring, it wouldn’t work when I turn it on. But I know the technician changes out some parts along the way and fills it with Freon every year. Then this summertime, that thing died on me. It isn't cooling the house down so I called them back in. The technician said the air conditioning unit was shut. That's how it panned out.
While their representatives were very accommodating and straightforward, I didn’t like that they upped my payment to $108 and it automatically went to my credit card. I don’t like using credit cards because if you don't pay it off, you have a balance. I would rather give cash. Other than that, they usually get someone out to me right away and everything’s been really good.
I also had a lot of problems with my washing machine and I was not crazy about the company called Limelight that AHS used to send out. They looked like hippie guys and every time they fix something, they’re going to have to come back. But the second company that AHS contracted started sending out someone who was so much better. As a matter of fact, if I had something go wrong, I would probably request that they send me over to them. But sometimes, I feel that American Home Shield would just keep fixing things and in the end, it might cost them more money. I still think that my washing machine is going to go and at this point, they should have replaced it with a new one.
Overall, having a warranty is a good thing, especially for the first few years. If it's not a new home, you don't know what maintenance other people put into it. I would also recommend American Home Shield because they have a good product. But they should look at their incentive program as they might be missing the boat. Our realtor said that they don't push the home warranty very much because they don't get a commission here in New York. But in other parts of the country, they do.

I called them at midday and the rep told me someone would be here by nine to ten o’clock the next morning. I was told what company would be coming and they called and confirmed it the next day.
We live in New England and we could be a popsicle in 24 hours if we didn’t have heat. Harris Heating and Air-conditioning sent a very knowledgeable service person. He was polite, dressed well and clean. He introduced himself and I felt very comfortable with him. He said nothing was wrong with the heating system but the problem was with the thermostat. He had one with him so he replaced it and all has been well since then. He could have said we had to have a full replacement but he went right to the problem immediately and told us it was only the thermostat. Then he even showed me how to deal with the thermostat. He also told me that the thermostat that we had was smaller than what they have, so when he replaced it, it left an area where I can see my old paint, and I was amazed that he was concerned about it and it was very polite of him to mention it.
We had American Home Shield 20 years ago for eight years, and then we let it lapse and recently we just decided that with our age, we really needed to have the security of it, and it came in very handy. I checked their ratings as well and they were decent, and when I called them, there was no pressure and they were just giving us some information, which was very nice. They’re very efficient and they explained what the copays were and everything when we signed up. They asked what we wanted to be covered so that we had choices.
I have recommended AHS to a couple of people already. We sold a second house and we recommended the people who bought the house that they get AHS, and I offered it as part of the closing to purchase it for them. The older you get in life or the busier you are, the less you want to start dealing with finding a specific person and then not knowing who’s coming. It makes more sense to cover yourself. People should stop looking for somebody. When you call AHS no matter what your problem is as long as it’s covered, they'll find a supplier for you. And I’m assuming that AHS has arrangements with people and that they’ve been checked out. And you pay a certain amount upfront for your membership, but then during the course of the year, you could save a considerable amount. They're not the cheapest but they're not hideously expensive when you think of the peace of mind. I’m definitely keeping it.

On one of the claims, it had to do with the range and there were two items in the home. For some reason, there was a delay with one of the parts for gaining approval, and that was an issue that I’m not sure I understood why and never did. I’m not even sure it got fixed at the end of the day ‘cause I haven’t talked to the people that are in the home. When it was happening, I was calling and asking what’s the deal or why this isn’t getting fixed, and the AHS reps said they didn’t know. They’re waiting on something and I don’t know what it was. They ought to find out why there was a delay with the tech that was out there. There was another claim that I sent in yesterday regarding the electric panel on the pool and I don’t know if it’s getting taken care of or not.
American Home Shield also shouldn't cheap out on fixes. There was a fix a year ago where I went ahead and paid another $2,000 to replace a compressor that they were going to do a half-ass fix on. In submitting a claim, I just go to their website. The contractors sent were all nice and polite, and I haven't had an issue with them.

I called American Home Shield when our dishwasher stopped working and they recommended a company that was inefficient and inadequate in doing their job. They had to take three iterations to get the job completed. I understood when the company finally came out that they didn't have the part. But it shouldn't have taken three weeks and multiple attempts. Even if the part was not there, they needed to keep their customers abreast of what was going on and not just left me in limbo wondering whether or not they were coming to complete the job or not.
There was poor communication and I kept calling American Home Shield to get in contact with the company because I couldn't reach them to finally come back and get the job done. It was a terrible experience. The dishwasher finally got fixed though. American Home Shield needs to do its due diligence when contracting out. They have to make sure the individuals they are contracting out can get the job done and are responsive. American Home Shield did everything wrong because of the folks they recommended.
I understand your frustration with the delay in service you have experienced to have your dishwasher repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and resolve your experience.

It takes too long to get through American Home Shield for service. I’ve only used them twice and the first time, I got through with no problem. They said yes, came out and got the issue squared away. But when I submitted a claim for my refrigerator, I was on the phone for one whole hour, holding to get someone. And then, when I wanted to cancel, it took me a long time too. It was running into the hour pattern. So, when I finally got them, the lady gave me a direct number that I could use to get her. I wasn’t satisfied with my experience. Nevertheless, the contractor was great. I had to call him back the second time because the refrigerator was making a noise, and he came right on out and fixed it. The refrigerator is doing fine now. If a friend would ask, I'd tell them about my AHS experience and it would be up to them to make the decision of what they wanted to do.

We've been with American Home Shield for five or six years and they've always been very good to deal with and we're very pleased with their services. But over the last year and a half, it's gone to crap. One example was when my water heater went out and it was covered by the warranty. They installed the one that was in there and they came this time and they rejected service on it because it was installed improperly and they did a similar thing with our cool heater. It went out earlier this year except they had repaired it two to three times in the past and they never said anything about the way it was installed. They just said, "Well, this isn't installed properly. We don't cover it."
In fact, they wouldn't fix microwave's handlebar because they said it was out of date, and it is not out of date. It is still the same unit. It's a GE. They have rejected each and every claim that we filed over the last 18 months. And before that, we weren't trying to get things we weren't entitled to. In fact, several years ago, they did some work on our air conditioner and they covered the repair. But they told me I had to install an additional fresh air unit and that that wouldn't be covered. So, that's an example that they took care of the problem and I agreed with them that the other part wasn't covered by warranty so I paid for that. They just become very difficult to deal with and really look for any possible way to avoid coverage.
They conscientiously try to avoid paying the claim. We never had that problem before but we're mad enough with them now that we'll not renew our policies going forward. Also, the quality of the service personnel that they send out is much lower than it used to be. Normally they would send out brand service people that we know in the neighborhood like when they work on the air conditioner, they sent out King with Air which is the largest air service company in the area. Up until recently, we recommended them to a lot of people because we thought they were really a first class company. But they've gotten very profit-oriented and don't really give a who about their customers.
I understand your frustration with the multiple service requests that you have placed that need to be resolved. I would be glad to speak with you in an effort to resolve your experience.

I've dealt with American Home Shields three times. The problem with dealing with them is that they don't respond quickly and you have to sit on hold for sometimes over an hour. And I wasn't particularly pleased about that. Our most recent claim with AHS was fine though. I had a problem with my heater in the house and because AHS had dealt with me before, I made sure that I could find a way to be expedited. However, I could not get to AHS because you sit on hold for an hour and their hold music goes on and off. So, I went back to the vendor that serviced me before and I asked them to reach out to AHS to start my claim process because they have the direct dial number which is something I don't have. And so, AHS expedited my claim. Their contractor came out and fixed my heater. It only took about 16 hours for them to get it taken care of and I was happy.
The vendor did a good job. The unit is working fine however, AHS just need to improve their intake process so that you don't sit on hold for an hour. I don't know if they need to hire more personnel. I know everybody is going strictly to online stuff but I'm an older gentleman and I'm not as adept at going through those processes as some people are. Therefore, they need improvement in their customer service department.

I've been very satisfied in the past with American Home Shield. I'm also completely happy with Greenway, the company that's always sent out by American Home Shield to service us. But I, for a couple of months now, have been dealing with a washing machine issue. Greenway came out and ordered what they thought the part was. It took about few weeks to come in. They put it in but that really didn't work. So, they sent someone out again to look at it. They ordered another part. Greenway Home Services can't find it. They sent a request to American Home Shield to find it and I've been without a washing machine for nine weeks now.
I called American Home Shield last Thursday and talked to someone. I finally got through and they said they'd call me right back. I've gotten zero phone calls. I've got a washing machine that doesn't work and nobody is following up with me. I don't want to wait for an hour on the line with American Home Shield when I'm trying to call. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend American Home Shield. They've always been reliable for as long as we've used them, except for this past nine weeks. So, I just went ahead and got the regular one, and everything else went fine. The first interaction with their reps, the placing of the phone call, they were perfect. I originally wanted my refrigerator and dryer fixed but American Home Shield couldn't find someone who do both of them that wasn't going to be a month away. They wound up finding somebody closer who could do it, but then the service provider called me and he said he can't do my refrigerator. So there was a miscommunication between the service provider and American Home Shield that he couldn't do my refrigerator. But I decided that I just wanted the dryer fixed and the refrigerator wasn't that important. I had to open a second ticket, so I got charged again, which I still have to call and get the charges reversed.
When I put the second ticket in, I didn't want to stay on hold on the phone because the wait time was about 45 minutes so I just went online. And it got the job done. I just had an extra charge. The service provider came right out once I got the second ticket. He was kind of grouchy, but he got the job done. Other than that, everyone on the phone with American Home Shield was so nice. I've recommended the service to my sister-in-law, and I just upgraded my warranty plan with them. But it would be awesome if American Home Shield could put in an option where you could put your number if you'd like to get a call back when you're calling in to speak to a customer service representative.

Our dishwasher was acting up and leaves particles all over the dishes. When I put the soap in it, it doesn’t wash the soap out of the tub. Before I can wash again, I gotta stop and I’ve got to scrape out all the old soap. This guy from Pinnacle appliance came out and said he couldn’t find anything wrong. He said he needed to confer with some people. He put some more dishes in there and said to let him know if it’s still doing the same thing. It did, so I called him back and I even sent him pictures. We had an appointment for him to come. He said he was just gonna completely rebuild it, put in a new motor and pump. He said that that was probably the problem.
They sent a text message to my wife saying they will be here between 9:30 and 1:00. We tried to call the number and we got a message that said, “Oh, we’re closed thanksgiving weekend.” But we have not heard anything from anybody. Nobody’s called up to say that that they’re on their way. No one has called up to say they were sorry and the reason why they can’t make it. So I'm not happy right now.
The deal with American Home Shield is that when I call and I got a problem, their instructions to the people that come out are, “Get it working. As long as it’s working when you walk out the door.” Like with my air conditioner. They had to replace the inside unit a few years ago because it had a Freon leak. I’m no HVAC person but even I know that the inside unit and the outside unit should be kept as a matched set. They replaced the inside but they didn’t do the outside. As a result of them doing that, every time my air conditioner comes on and it’s more than one degree, it goes into emergency heat mode. It doesn’t operate like a heat pump. It operates like a forced air heater.
Then the outside unit stopped working. The guy comes out, looks at it, and he says, “This needs to be replaced but I can’t replace it because Home Shield won’t let me do it." He said the problem was the starter-capacitor, and he needs to wire around it to make it work. But he said his company will lose the contract with Home Shield if he told them that it can’t be fixed and they found out that it can be fixed by wiring around it. So he goes in and jury rigs it. Later on, the thing goes out again. Same story. Still another jury rig. This outside unit has been jury rigged three times so it keeps running. But it comes on and turns off, and that’s not right. And it was the same thing with my dryer. They made the contractor go in there and it took them two weeks to find the part so it would turn back on.
When my pressurized high flow toilet was broken, American Home Shield had the contractor put a regular flush in there instead of the power flush that they were replacing and they didn’t want to even put a new seat on the toilet. They said it was not in our contract. But they were taking a toilet out that’s got a seat on it. And you want to take that out the door with the seat. You don’t want to put that seat on this and you don’t want to put a new one on it. That doesn’t make any sense. American Home Shield didn’t replace the item that I had with a properly matched unit. Then they didn’t want to even leave me a usable unit.
When you call American Home Shield and complain, after you’ve been on hold from one to three hours, all they do is read from the script. There's no supervisor around. Or if there is one around, you’re gonna wait for another hour to two hours on hold for them to call you back. Only for them to give you the same company line. American Home Shield collects a lot of money from you but they want to do the absolute minimum that they can do when it comes to answering a service request. I do not recommend them.
I understand your frustration with the delay in service you have received to have your dishwasher repaired as well as the hold times you have experienced. I would be glad to speak with you and resolve your experience.

I heard about American Home Shield through some friends and all my experiences with AHS have been good. When the injector pump went out, I submitted a claim online and American Home Shield sent me a text with the information on who the plumber would be. The plumber was supposed to call me back but I just called the plumber right then and scheduled it. The plumber that we had was excellent and we couldn't ask for a better person. The contractor for the dishwasher was excellent as well.
However, I wasn't excited about the gentleman who came out and fixed the dryer. And the air conditioning has been a hit or miss. It kept on running low and finally blew up the compressor which was almost 15 years old. The model I had was like my car. If a certain part goes out, I have to replace one at a time and go on with it. But when the Freon got mixed up with it, everything became very expensive and it seemed to cause other problems. The wheels started to come off a bit which delayed me on having my air conditioner fixed. I wound up paying for two new outside units which was switched to newer Freon type.
I was shocked that my bill out on the summer was at least 35% cheaper. Other than replacing the air pressure coil on the inside, the contractor left the mortors on the inside of the house unit alone and just replaced the air conditioning piece of this system. It never felt better since the first day I moved in. It didn't cost that much to run in. I still like to have AHS in my back pocket. If something comes up, they're there for me and that means a lot. I'm happy with our relationship and I'd recommend them. As a matter of fact, after my mom moved over here to Georgia, I signed her approval for her house as well.

My mom has American Home Shield in her home. I have power of attorney for my mom and there are times she needs something done and I'm the one that always makes the phone calls to American Home Shield. The contractors have all been good. The last guy that went over there to do the electrical wiring was very professional.
The most recent claim was for a kitchen ceiling light. There was no power going through it and it was an old light. My mom would always hit the switch and my mom is an elderly lady and it wouldn't go on. So my sister tried doing it manually and pulled the string. And when she pulled the string it kind of broke and then so I just told my sister, "Don't even mess with it. She's got appliance insurance. Let me call American Home Shield and get it taken care of".
So the contractor that came over was very professional. He was very polite. He added a little bit of wire and then extended wire. But he was willing to put the brand-new ceiling fan and he was willing to go the extra mile but we didn't have it on us. So he just had the wiring setup for it. And he goes, "Dude, this is what you need to do," and I go, "Hey, you know what, thank you, I really appreciate it." He's a real good guy.
Their customer service is the best. I didn't have talk to their rep very long. It was just, "Tell me the issue." I told her what the issue was and she says, "Let me get you the right people. I believe you're going to let it be an electrical guy." I got a call within an hour from the contractor. Everything got taken care of. I've gone with them three times and it has always been a good experience every time. I recommend them to a friend.

Working with American Home Shield has been a good experience. The sink in the master bathroom and the one in the kids’ bathroom both started dripping at the same time. Plus, the tub in the kids’ bathroom was slow to drain. They came in and fixed both of the sinks and the drain. They’re supposed to come out again today to fix the drain on the kids’ sink. It's draining slowly as well.
I called my claim in. We had a mix-up and they assigned two plumbing companies to do two different situations. I also called in for my kitchen garbage disposal that went out. They came out and fixed it, but it was a different company. The system thought that it was my kitchen sink that was messing up and they assigned that company to come do one of the sinks. Then they assigned another company to come do the other sink, however, we got that straightened out.
I’m usually here every time a contractor comes. However, for this one, I had to be at work because it was the day before Thanksgiving break. I’m a principal and couldn’t take off and be at home. My brother-in-law was at the house and he said they did well. I saw their work when I came back and they didn’t leave anything messed up. Everything was put back in place.
I'm impressed with American Home Shield. It's been five years since I’ve been back with them and they’ve been good to me. I would definitely recommend getting American Home Shield. They will have their own schedule, not on anyone else’s. When I file for a service call, which I usually do online, I have to wait for at least a day and sometimes a day and a half to hear back from whoever person they sent it off to. The first time I got American Home Shield it seemed like the request didn’t get through and I did it a second time. They were able to explain to me how it went and that was fine. The contractors were pretty easy to work with. Sometimes it was hard to schedule because of the availability of answering the phone, but we eventually got the scheduling and it was fine. Now the furnace works really well. For the AC, the tech replaced the thermostat. He didn’t screw it into the wall, so it's really loose and that would be my only complaint. I don’t like doing anything to an automated system. You still need to have people that you can talk to and communicate with. The other problem with it is that the last girl that I talked to at American Home Shield hung up on me.
Technician however was okay. He was looking for a number of reasons why the appliance wasn’t working. So that made me feel like he wasn’t sure about what he was doing. Then when he told it was fixed and I wasn’t going to have a problem with it, I didn’t feel confident about that. He went to take me down to show me that it was working okay, that’s when it went out completely, then he said he had to order the part. Since the repair, I haven’t had any issues.
American Home Shield when we first got them, I thought that this is going to be perfectly what we needed. I don’t like a lot of technicians because I had my dishwasher broken before that. When they sent it to Whirlpool, I talked to somebody, they told me Whirlpool is going to call me. If this company is serious, why am I waiting two days for somebody to call me back. So I had to call American Home Shield back, and when the individual got on the phone, I explained to him what was happening. He tried to call the company, couldn't get through to them either. At that point then he recommended someone else. I’d say this service is really not good. My sister had it. She came here from out of town. She told me she had the same issues with AHS so she dropped them.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

We stayed on hold for over an hour each time we called them, which was multiple times, and was extremely frustrating and ridiculous. There was a hole in my dry wall for over a week before they called back and said they could not find the person to repair it and that we have to repair it ourselves and they would mail us back. And then they sent out a repairman who was probably the nicest repair person they have ever used! Most of the time, the repair people that they sent, they drive old, beat-up vehicle; they would show up -- and they're not marked with their company name on it -- and the service people don't have marked uniforms. This guy was in a marked van; he was on a marked uniform. If they're not marked, they're not going in my house if my husband is not home. I think that's very unprofessional. He, for example, did not cut the sheetrock without being asked. He was also tucked in, was clean and was very well-spoken. So, he found the problem after being here for hours on end, and fixed it. Also, we've been with American Home Shield for eight years now.

I've had been a great experience with American Home Shield. I've called them three times. One was when I had a plumbing problem and twice for my air conditioner. The first issue was a switch then the condenser unit that wouldn't kick on. Come to find out that it was was the submersible pump. It has got some kind of safety switch on it and when it gets full and it doesn't pump. It's been running fine ever since the repair though.
When we bought this house, the people that we bought it from furnished the AHS plan and paid for it. So I got the best one. But I don't need the plan because I don't have dishwashers and stuff. All I need to be covered is just the air conditioner and plumbing. AHS sent me a deal saying my contract is due to be renewed in January and I'm going to renew the deal but I want to talk to them to see if the plan that I got was the best one I could get. I don't want to be paying for something I don't need. And I know there's a different plan because I've seen different ones.

My microwave went out, so I called American Home Shield and they were very nice. They took my information and they called somebody and they came right out to fix it. However, the microwave went out again two days later, so they had to come back out. I got the same contractor, and he was very courteous and apologetic. He fixed it again, and so far, it’s still working fine. AHS should keep doing what they’re doing because I had a good experience. I’ve been telling everybody about them, especially my friends that own homes.

I've been with American Home Shield for 25 years. Submitting claims either by the phone or online is easy. Their reps treat me very well and I'm always really pleased. Contractors have also been wonderful. I've only had one bad experience and that was 10 years ago but ever since then, they have been great. They go above and beyond with education and stuff about their product. I don't plan on even looking for another home warranty place. It's a fair price to pay and I've already suggested American Home Shield to other people.

My previous engagement with American Home Shield had been very positive, but the recent one has been less than satisfactory. We have an electrical problem in our home that has been described by three different electricians as dangerous. The breakers, the panel where they go in and the aluminum bus bar that was worn out needs to be replaced. There's arcing, popping and cracking because the box is old and this might lead to a fire. Cath, the lady that I've talked to most recently, doesn't believe that these items needs to be replaced. She believes that they can continue to put breakers into the box to fix the issues. AHS does not seem interested in resolving the issue. The representatives have been argumentative and unhelpful and it seemed like they're looking for ways to not be responsible based on the contract that I've read and that is negligence on their part.
The contractor that they sent out has been here 4 times, 3 of those were for previous circuits, which was probably a year ago. When he couldn't fix it, he stopped calling and returning phone calls. And so, American Home Shield sent someone else out who had to come out twice and spent half a day here the second time trying to resolve the issue. I also complained when the lights in my bathroom went out because I had no power. He came out and said that the breaker was nasty, covered in dust and was half worn already. So he put a piece of new breaker into the old panel with the burned up busbars but it didn't work. They were flickering and so he went back down there and messed around a little bit more. He got them working to my satisfaction and they stayed on.
I went back to the bathroom and turned the light on. It flickered twice and went out. I called back the next day and said that it didn't work. It lasted only 10 minutes because he just put a Band-Aid on this horrible situation. They said, they'll get the contractor to come back out. I waited for 5 hours but they didn't call. So, I called the number that was on the email that I got from American Home Shield. They said they'll try to get out here Friday. This was on a Wednesday. I told them that I was shaving every morning to go to work using a flashlight on my iPhone since I don't have any power in my bathrooms.
I contracted my own electrician to come out and fix it sooner than Friday because we needed lights on the bathroom. He tried to move the breakers around inside the box. And this time, it lasted 35 minutes before it quit working again. So, I called back the next morning and he said, “Let me get my supervisor come out today. We'll take a look at it.” When he came out, he took all the breakers off the box and took pictures of the burnt up busbars.
This has been going on for three weeks already and I feel like if I wait for American Home Shield to take action to solve this problem, it will never get fixed. There were only two questions in my mind when I contacted them. First is if American Home Shield's going to do what they should do to pay for at least a portion of this very dangerous situation to be repaired and the second is who will be my home insurance company afterwards because it will get repaired. In fact, it's in the process of being repaired right now. But I would not be surprised if my homeowners' insurance wouldn't pay for it because I ignored the danger situation of my home.
I know Cath talked to my electrician last Thursday and asked him questions about the repair. I called her on Monday and asked if we have any updates. She said she can't do anything until I get the itemized bill. It seemed like nobody have any sense of urgency on this. But I still think American Home Shield may do the right thing and pay for some portion of this or whatever the contract obligates them to.

We currently have two pending claims with American Home Shield. One is for a fan and they haven’t called me back yet. It has been a little bit more than a week since I filed the claim because I called them just before Thanksgiving. I knew that with the Thanksgiving break, they would be busy. But I know who to call so we're in a good place with it. The guy with the furnace is working on it. He called and we got a source of heat. Overall, I've been really happy with American Home Shield. It's a good company for me. People get busy and even if we didn’t have American Home Shield as my back-office support person here, dealing with contractors in general can be challenging.

The claims process isn’t hard, but contacting American Home Shield during a claim is. It might have been during the hurricane where they had a lot of calls, but I had to go through their chat room in order to get a hold of somebody. Plus their chat room is not available during certain hours. But when I finally got in, the people in the chat were able to help me resolve my issues. I still have one open claim since this summer and the techs never came back. I’ve been meaning to get with Home Shield about it. It’s not an urgent issue but the techs were supposed to order a part ‘cause the part they got was wrong. I never heard from them again, so there’s an issue pending on my account. But American Home Shield is still worth having for certain things that may come up at home.

I’ve had a contract with American Home Shield since 2004 and I’ve been happy with them. The only thing I’m not pleased about is when they renew the contract, I get to read it whole before I see what’s being covered and what's not. They haven’t gone up in prices significantly but I have to pay attention to see the separate packages I can order. I prefer them laying out what's different. But I'd still recommend them to a friend. Their service people are very friendly and efficient. I submit claims online and I get a response not longer than a couple of days. For the most part, they get the repairs done within the day except when there’s a part that needs to be ordered like in my recent appliance claim. I also had someone to have a toilet fixed. It worked but it wasn’t until later when something else went wrong that it was really fixed in a way that was not what it needed to be.

We have a condo in Palm Desert and it’s had a lot of problems with the air conditioning unit so American Home Shield sent this company called Anthem out. They went and fixed it and they didn’t fix it. Finally, American Home Shield sent me a thing in the mail that they had a special deal where they could replace the entire HVAC unit for a very inexpensive amount if I was interested. I took them up on their $4,300 offer. They went ahead and contracted with Anthem to put the unit in and got it done in less than one day so it was good. It started to get cool so the tenant went to turn on the heater but it wouldn’t work. There was nothing coming out. So I called American Home Shield and told them the tenant got a problem. They said they'd send someone out.
Sure enough, the same company that put it in, Anthem, called right away. They showed up the next morning and found that the HVAC unit was mounted on the roof. They went up there and found that the gas line had not been turned on. They had to turn it off to install it so they obviously didn’t turn it back on. When I heard that, I called American Home Shield and said, “Look, this was not an issue on our part. It was you and our contractors, Anthem, that forgot to turn the gas on. I don’t think I ought to be charged $75.” I was on the phone with American Home Shield for quite a while with one of their people. They tried to call in to their management and they said, “No because it was a separate ticket you opened up for this problem. Not the same ticket as putting the air conditioner in. You still have to pay the $75” which I felt was totally unreasonable because it was related to the same air conditioning installation that wasn’t done right.
American Home Shield was very responsive. They got out there right away and fixed it but the issue of me having to pay $75 for something that the installation contractor they hired forgot to do is not very satisfying. So I just sent them a nasty letter in the mail saying that the $75 should have been waived because it was not my doing. It was their contractor that forgot to turn the gas on.

I called American Home Shield to get the microwave serviced and they set me up with a company called Chesapeake Appliance Repair and I was never contacted by them. I tried calling them, but they didn't answer the phone and there was no answering machine. And then, a couple of days later, I got a call and we set up an appointment. I told them what the problem was because GE had actually come out just a few weeks before to service my oven, and I've mentioned it to them while the technician was here. He told me that I had to open another service ticket for the microwave.
I told the guy from Chesapeake Appliance Repair that GE was here and they told me what the problem was. I asked him if he had that part of the microwave and he said he didn't but they have some things on their trucks but he doesn't know where it is. He needs to come out first and see if he had it on his truck and come fix it. If not, he would have to order it. That was not a problem with me so we made an appointment for a Wednesday.
Wednesday came and I haven't heard a word from him. Normally people will call you and they will say that your appointment is scheduled for tomorrow, and just to let you know that they're coming out between a certain window of time. But I never got that. I was home Wednesday because I knew that they were coming, so I called them. The guy actually answered the phone and I told him that I'm on his schedule for that day. He said, "Yes, between 1:00 and 5:00 o' clock." I told him that it was 1:45. Then he said, "Well, we're scheduled between 1:00 and 5:00. It's not 5:00, so there you have it." I told him that was fine and 5:00 came but I heard nothing. They never showed up.
I gathered myself together so I can go out because I still have errands to do. Five minutes as I left the house, I got a phone call and I refused to answer it. The contractor left a message and he said the technician was on their way. I should have gotten the phone call in like 4:15 or 4:30 saying that they were running a little bit late or if they can reschedule the service. But it was completely nothing, and they never called me the next day.
Then I got a phone call the following Tuesday and the technician from Chesapeake Appliance Repair said that he was coming out, and that I was next on his schedule. He said that my appointment was from 2:00 to 6:00 and that's it. I had no appointment that day. Nobody called me and set up any appointment. So I was just done. I called American Home Shield and it was horrible. I had to stay on the line for an hour and a half. I let it wait and wait and wait because I need to talk to somebody. I can't handle this online. I tried and I even ended up making another appointment on top of what I already I had then I had two seating out there for the microwave.
One time I hang up and called the sales instead and they picked up. I told the rep that I'm not trying to buy anything, but I'm trying to talk to somebody in service and I can't seem to get to anybody. She told me that she can transfer me there, but I told her that I was on hold for an hour and a half. And then finally she said, "I'm so sorry but I don't have access to that." So I called again and I just sat it out for an hour and a half I finally talked to somebody, and she was really, really nice. I never had a problem with her and she set it up for me to go with GE because I did not want to see Chesapeake Appliance Repair. I’m working now with GE and the tech is scheduled to come out on Monday after the parts get here.

I was without air conditioning for a while. I first called someone that had attended to my air conditioning before and put in a bit of Freon which held it for a period of time because it wasn't going to hold totally. And then, in the midst of that process, I remembered I had American Home Shield. So far, I haven't called for a service at all, but I make my monthly payments. I called them to make sure that I was using the product, whatever this is that I'm buying. Their contractor came quickly, went out there, and showed me everything that he was doing including the parts and the pieces. He serviced the air conditioning and it's worked all summer.
Furthermore, I put in a call the other day for American Home Shield to come and take a look at my electric because my power was out in a couple of different places, and my microwave was an issue. From their form, I see that electric has one box and the microwave has another. I remembered I have a friend who is an electrician. So, I gave him a call. He's come, he's taken a look and I know where all the issues are now. However, how is going through American Home Shield benefiting me, versus just calling someone I know who is an electrician, or plumber, or whatever, separately? But based on the air conditioning experience alone, AHS service was satisfactory. It was handled and it worked.

The computer chippy thing was going out in my refrigerator. I called AHS and there was a long wait time. But when I got to their representative, she handled the request just fine. They sent me an email afterward then called the first business day and told me they would have the contractor come out. However, there was a communication problem because I thought the tech was coming on Tuesday but he didn’t get there until Wednesday.
When he got there, he figured out what the problem was but he had to go back and get approval from American Home Shield for the part he needed. That took almost 48 hours and I was not pleased with that. AHS contracted with different contractors and based on their trust level, it shouldn't take 24 to 48 hours to get a part approved. These folks should be able to call in, get approval on the spot, and the issue resolved the same day without having to come back out. Once the tech got the part for my refrigerator approved, he was able to come back when I was at home. He put the part in which took him about 30 minutes and the problem so far seems to be resolved.

My first claim with American Home Shield was for a pump motor that was broken. I submitted the claim through the phone and the experience was okay. I thought waiting on hold for 40 minutes at a time was normal because that was their pattern. They sent two different companies out and the second one was finally able to repair the work. I paid the service call and the pump is working. It was difficult to find somebody who would come out and do an estimate for AHS. The one that finally came was an hour and a half away, which is ridiculous because there are pool companies all over Florida and plenty in my city. I think they’re unfamiliar with their service vendor.
I had a cooktop and dishwasher replaced with AHS also, and they cannot find people to the appliances. So, the dishwasher is in my garage and they’ve offered me $125 dollars to find an installer myself for the cooktop. We have a very small town and nobody here has appliances. So, every time I call somebody it’s $125 dollars just for them to come over here, and it’s a three-hour job. Now, it’s been very frustrating having the services completed for the claims that I filed for. So, we’re stuck with brand new appliances and they’re unusable because nobody can put them in. So, the rule with AHS is that once the appliance is delivered, then I call a different number for the installation appointment.
Their on-hold wait time is excruciating and the recording says “We’re working to shorten these hold times”. And it doesn’t seem to matter what time of day or night I call. I’ve been on hold many times for over 40 minutes, and yesterday for an hour and a half while I was doing other things, and finally, the call was disconnected. I’ve emailed AHS to escalate the installation process, and I have not heard anything for three days.

It was a simple repair but he was very nice, professional and on top of things.
The second claim was for the washer. One person came out and saw that it was a model he couldn’t fix so AHS had to call somebody else, which was Sears. Sears scheduled an appointment, the technician called me the day that the parts weren’t in and we had to reschedule. But I was then called and was told that they wanted to schedule an appointment and I had to call a certain number. I waited on hold for 15 minutes then they said that they couldn't reschedule because the parts weren't in. It’s been over a week now since that phone call and I haven’t heard from them. Sometimes American Home Shield sends out the greatest people and sometimes it's just the worst people that want to get in and out in five minutes and it's really frustrating. The last technician came out to fix the ice machine and after about five minutes he said, "Oh, this is what we need to do. I'll order the part." Then he came back a while later and was going to install the part. So we had to turn off the water. He didn't know where the water turn off was so he told me I needed to get that information and then reschedule the visit. So I did that. I shut off the water for the entire house the next time he came out to make sure it was off and he replaced the part and then said that everything will look good and that it should be making ice in 24 to 48 hours.
A week later it still wasn't making ice so I had to call again. The same guy came out again and he said this time that there's no water coming to the unit, which clearly if you would have checked in the other times it doesn't make sense to me. It's just fishy to me. It's either that he was trying to get in and out so fast he just made a rash choice of, "Oh, we need to replace this part." But it was working. We've had trouble with the icemaker before and it's like the condenser gets dirty and dusty and stops producing ice. They've sent people out before and they've repaired it with ease.
The technician was here again and he doesn't want to spend more than five minutes here. I think if in the beginning if he spent more than a 5 minutes maybe we would have a different outcome. I called American Home Shield today and I was on hold for 45 minutes. I finally got a hold of someone and she was very lovely. She was trying to help me and then we got disconnected after she put me on hold the second time. So I'm hoping that she's working on it and someone's going to get back to me. But I couldn't call and wait 45 minutes again.
But the plumber they sent was absolutely amazing. Before it was just been a nightmare like do we even want to keep this? Being very blunt it's amazing how it's so much better. And if you contact with someone they're very helpful and I feel like they actually care about customer service. It's really nice. It was a major change.

We had a little trouble with our Sub-Zero fridge but I got it fixed after a couple of weeks. I did it a couple of different ways because the first time I submitted the claim online, the person they sent was not able to fix it. He was supposed to tell AHS to send somebody, but he never did. So, after a few days, I had to call AHS back to get to the bottom of it. And, that’s where I ran into trouble because every time I would call, my hold times would average about an hour and a half. But I also didn’t have a cold refrigerator, so I had to get it fixed.
I’m a real estate agent and whenever my clients would get their new homes, I usually refer American Home Shield to them. I would tell a friend to give them a try simply because I’ve used several other companies and really, for the most part, AHS has the most care and they are quick to fix things. And if something’s not fixed, they’re usually really good about making sure it’s remedied.

I used to be in that trade and he was highly professional. The water heater has been good since the repair and I'm very pleased.

I've owned my house for 12 years and AHS is the company that I've been with. Although I tried two other companies, I kept going back to AHS. Recently, I filed an electrical claim online and in a few minutes, I got an email saying that a certain contractor was going to come out and do the inspection. The very next day, they called me and said they had an opening and they came right out. They've been out here before and normally I got the son. This time though the owner himself came out. I love the company as they're very friendly, knowledgeable and they're quick.

Our claim with the electrical problem went like a breeze. Right now, I have another for central air and they were supposed to have done it Monday. The trucking company brought the unit and the unit was damaged. I’m not happy now because it’s cold and I need heat. But it was fixed and it’s all right, except the plumbing issue when we got served the contract. We understood that the stuff is in it but what is not was not clarified from the start. It should be more clear.

To follow up on my initial post:
I was contacted by a Social Media Specialist from American Home Shield who had the authority to replace my washer and drier. She acted quickly and professionally and the settlement was for a fair amount.
I've revised my initial review of 1 star up to 2 stars because we were able to get to a resolution. However, American Home Shield does have severe internal process issues in their call center that need to be addressed as well as poor quality appliance and AC contractors in the Orlando, FL area.
I would offer this recommendation to the executive heading the customer service department: You have a database of customer service data that should be updating at least daily. Create reporting that uses that data to identify when service parameters have been exceeded (eg longer than three days for an initial appointment, longer than seven days for a final resolution, customers who have had to call in more than one time, etc.) and use that reporting to manage customer experiences that are going poorly before they become as bad as mine. People will appreciate that proactive approach.

Lots of detail here but it’s been a tremendous on-going journey trying to get my washer and dryer fixed. Here’s my story… October 16, 2017: My dryer has been intermittently giving an error code about the lint filter being clogged. I’ve been dealing with it because I know from my previous AC repair that it would be a pain to have fixed. When my front loading washer gasket started leaking, I didn’t have a choice but to open a ticket.
A day or two later, the contractor sends me a text to tell me they will be at my house on October 25 (9 days after opening the ticket, glad it wasn’t my AC). They won’t work with me on scheduling. It’s a take it/leave it offer or it will be another week before they will come out. I rearrange my schedule to accommodate the contractor. They cannot give me a window for the service until the night before so I have to totally clear my calendar.
October 25, 2017: The contractor is on time but only here to diagnose. The contractor says he’ll call when my parts are in. November 2, 2017: Nothing from the contractor so I call them. No answer so I leave a message but don’t receive a callback. November 3, 2017: Call AHS and wait over 30 minutes on the phone. AHS calls the contractor who amazingly just received the parts. The contractor will schedule a time with me for installation.
November 6: A text from the contractor saying they can come on November 14 (another 8 days later) to install the parts. Again, I’ll only receive my service window the night before so I have to clear the whole day for them. November 14 (28 days out): Contractor shows up but the parts for the washer and dryer do not fit. He leaves and says he will follow up.
November 16 (30 days out): I receive a text that they will be out on November 20. Again, I will receive my service window the night before they come. It’s getting really old at this point. November 20 (34 days out): Contractor comes back out. Says AHS told him to try installing the same parts again. Of course the result is the same. He says AHS will contact me with next steps.
At this point, I’ve become curious to see just how bad this will go. I also don’t feel like dedicating another hour of my life listening to their on-hold jingle. November 27: Nothing from AHS so I call in and spend over 30 minutes on hold. AHS calls the contractor who does not answer. Leaves a message for the contractor to call them. AHS asks if I've called the contractor. Apparently it's my responsibility to keep them on task. I call the contractor and leave a message requesting a callback. As of December 8, I still have not heard from them.
December 7 (51 days out): Still nothing from AHS or the contractor. At this point, my patience has run out and I feel I’ve been pretty darned patient. I call first thing at 8:00 Eastern (as soon as they open) and still have to spend over 20 minutes on hold. Really? Do they only have two agents? When I get through, the agent calls the contractor who does not answer. The agent opens a ticket with AHS’ Contract Relations department and said I would have direction within 24 hours. No call back as promised.
December 8 (52 days out and going into a weekend): Called in around 8:45AM and spend well over 30 minutes on hold. Another agent called the contractor. Said contractor was talking with AHS Contract Relations now and she would call me back within 20 minutes about next steps. I did not receive a call back within the promised time frame.
December 8: Called back around 12:30 and spent over 1 hour on hold. Agent said there was nothing she could do. If the contractor didn’t call in, they would start the whole repair process over again. This is unacceptable. I asked for a supervisor and was sent to the Escalation Team. The Escalation Agent said the contractor promised to file paperwork by end of today and she would call me this evening before leaving work at 10PM to advise me of next steps. She could not advise what would happen if the contractor did not file his paperwork.
We’ll see how this progresses but it is sure feeling like a big run-around so AHS doesn’t have to honor their contractual obligation of replacing the appliances if a repair can’t be made. Mind you, while this has been going on, I’ve paid my fee for two months in addition to my service charge of $100. I’m sure I’ll be charged right on time again next month while this is still dragging out.
Finally, in case you think this is just a fluke… That AC issue I mentioned at the beginning was the discharge air temp sensor on my zoned AC system going out. It took the service company four visits to fix the problem. One to diagnose, second to re-diagnose because AHS didn’t like the cost of the first diagnosis, third time to install the part (oops, the AC company brought a remote temperature sensor instead of a discharge air temperature sensor and the tech couldn’t tell the difference. I had to point it out), fourth time to install the discharge air temperature sensor. That repair took over a month as well. There you have it. I’ll continue posting with updates to let everyone know how this plays out. Hope you get a better experience and have lots of time on your hands.
I understand your frustration with the delay in service you have experienced to have both your washer and dryer repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and resolve the issues you have experienced.

I made service request on 12/5/2017, Tuesday, for water leaking and paid the service fees upfront. I have received a confirmation at the same day. I received a phone call from the contractor at 4:13 PM on 12/6/2017 to inform that the technician should be arrived on 12/7/2017 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. I took a day off on 12/7/2017 since it may take a long time to repair or may have additional issue during repairing. No one showed up on 12/7/2017. No phone call as well.
I called the contractor at 4:30 PM, 5:00 PM, 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM. Of course, no one picked up the phone. The contractor's voicemail was fake. It hanged up automatically after the greeting. I called American Home Shield at 6:15 PM on 12/7/2017 and waited for 40 minutes until the representative picked up the phone. Per the representative, American Home Shield (AHS) cannot do anything but to contact the contractor for me. Cannot even change the contractor. Per the representative, she had left a voicemail to the contractor to contact me on 12/8/2017.
Again, no one called me or contacted me on 12/8/2017. I called the contractor at 10:00 AM on 12/8/2017. As per the contractor representative, she will contact me as soon as the technician comes in today. Of course, no phone call, no one showed up. I have spent more than an hour to get hold with a AHS's representative to check for the service request status. What is this? Try to get the service fees and get away? Can't trust AHS any more. They are horrible!!! No one should trust them anymore.
Don't pay anything until there is someone show up in front of you. The contractor name: Drainco Plumbing, phone # **. Don't trust them. Imagine how much water should be leaking until they think it may be the time to show up to repair for me? How can people still trust American Home Shield? Each call wait time at least 30 minutes to one hour. They may try to scare you away by just taking your monthly fees and service fees, and disappear. DON'T TRUST THEM!!!
I understand your concerns with the delay in service and the contractor assigned to your work order. I would be glad to speak with you and resolve the issues that you have experienced.

First off, I'm a REALTOR®. I do not understand the enormous phone wait times AHS. I can't speak to a human without waiting an extensive wait time, which is simply ridiculous. Since I can't get through to a human, this resulted in me filling out an online form. Online form is too generic and I am not exactly sure if my issue is covered even after reviewing my contract.
Oh, and they want you to pay them for the service call UPFRONT when services have not been delivered. Filled out the form and they sent me a text and email stating that this company who is barely known in the area and has bad reviews will contact me within 24 hours. Funny, this plumbing company IS CLOSED on Saturday and Sundays! Why would you contract with service providers such as plumbers who do not offer 24 hour services? Needless to say, I will be finding new home warranty company and as a REALTOR®, I will not recommend AHS to my clients!
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

I filed a claim recently with American Home Shield for the air conditioner that was not working and even though I had to wait a month to get it fixed because they have to wait for parts, the people who came out were excellent. Some contractors are good and some aren't. But lately, I've had good contractors. American Home Shield is good to have because it can help when you need something. I've been with them for 13 years and it's a pain in the butt to deal with them, mostly because you can never talk to them and you're on the phone forever. It is not a smooth operation when you need to try to get help with something. Every time I call, I have to wait about an hour or more before I can talk to a person. It's hard to do something online when you're not sure what the issue is. You need the service people or talk to a person sometimes.

They have good customer service and I’m very pleased with them.
I've been with American Home Shield for many years and over the last two years, they got right back on track for being very professional. They are a good company and now, they’re training the people that they’re sending out, which is a wonderful thing. They have made a great comeback. I’m proud of them because they did a great job. I've always had nothing but great experiences with American Home Shield. I'm a Realtor and I refer them to most of my customers. I've got three rental houses and the tenants can just go online and fill the form and put in the problem. My tenants don't even have to have the account number. They just put in the address, mark it as tenant and put in the problem. And I have a credit card on file, so the 75 bucks can get paid upfront. I really don't have to do anything. One of my rental houses had a heating problem recent and my tenant submitted a claim and they were happy with them. I paid my 75 bucks and all was good. I've also used American Home Shield for my personal home and we love it.
The subcontractors were always very respectful. From the time we submit the claim, I usually get a phone call almost immediately. Even if they're not coming out that day, they call almost immediately and tell me when they are coming. I've been in construction and built new homes. So, I am easily able to describe to them pretty well exactly what's going on, and take pictures of all of the equipment that's affected so they can have the parts that they need when they show up. They don't have to come back a second time. And everybody's happy.

It's fairly easy to submit a claim to American Home Shield. We had our breaker box repaired before and today, it's our heater in the bathroom. All the contractors are good and they came here on time. However, they need to get more reliable plumbers because their repair was horrible. The contractors came in but weeks later, we were having problems again. Another time, a guy came and he had to pull up the toilet. The cost to pull up the toilet was $125 which I wasn't aware of so I wasn't happy with that. I went on to the plumber I found and had them as I wasn't going to pay that type of money just to pull up the toilet. Then, there were two areas to do the clean up for the plumber. They came in, pulled from the front but they didn't do the back.

My wife called for our little air conditioner that wasn't working, and the reps at American Home Shield were very nice. The people came out and fixed the AC unit. I had an air conditioning experience years ago with an American Home Shield contractor, and it was a nightmare. But the recent vendor was very nice. It was all good, so I'm happy. According to our contract, we had to pay for the freon which was pretty expensive. But I know freon's expensive so I don't blame them for that.
I was with American Home Shield for a long time at another house a decade ago. We've been with them for a couple of years in this house. We were with somebody else beforehand, and American Home Shield had a better deal. American Home Shield has been helpful, and that's who I would recommend if somebody would ask me. They have improved and they've really upped their game. They seemed to be, "Hey, here's our contract. We have two full working days. If the guy comes out and doesn't fix what's going on, you call again." They seemed to be more responsive and understanding. When your air conditioner is not working in a place like Las Vegas, your house becomes uninhabitable. I appreciate them getting that.

I had a dishwasher issue. When I initially submitted my claim, their reps were very cooperative. They told me what I need to do and said it would be about a week before someone would come out. I had some concerns with that because I was going to have surgery coming up, and I needed to get this resolved before the surgery. The contractor they sent out was a very nice young man, customer-oriented, knowledgeable and was very professional with the way he carried himself up. He looked at the dishwasher and said that it was too old to be fixed. To fix it, it would be more than the value of the new dishwasher. His recommendation was to replace it. Then, AHS sent some paperwork for me to fill out. I filled it out and sent it back in.
When the dishwasher was delivered, it did not work right. So, I had to call the company that provided the dishwasher. It was three weeks before they send someone out and took a look at it. That was not American Home Shield's fault though. The company that built the dishwasher was very delinquent in wanting to send someone out to get it fixed. I found that to be very frustrating. It was the same contractor who looked at my old dishwasher that the company finally sent back to take a look at this dishwasher. I felt very comfortable with what he did.
However, I've submitted the cost to AHS five weeks ago and I have not received payment for it yet. I will not be reimbursed for everything that I paid but they were supposed to have paid the majority of it, and I still haven't heard back from them. I've been really disappointed with this particular situation. I reached out to them after three weeks and was told that they need enough time to process that. I have been fairly satisfied with the quality of people that they have sent out to do the repair work. But I have started looking for other vendors to see what they offered and what their rates are. I pay American Home Shield over $600 a year. On most years, I don't even have the need to use them, which is fine. But when I do need them, I expect to have a quality service and product provided.

Then the contractor who came out did a good job and the AC is working great. We only had one issue with the billing, but we didn’t bother with it. From my understanding, it took three pounds of Freon to put in it and we were supposed to be discounted $10 dollars per pound of Freon. I've I had several claims with American Home Shield. I've called them but it was very difficult to file a claim and I was so unhappy with it. I’ve had to call several times for each item and every single time that I’ve called, I get the comment on the voice mail, “Your call is important to us.” But basically, it means that you didn’t hire enough people to answer the phone. I’d been on the line from 15 minutes to almost an hour. And the last time when I’ve got that, I just slammed the phone down and I thought, “I’m not doing this.” And I called the real estate agent and said, “I think you should get his money back because I can’t deal with this people anymore.”
I called another number aside from the one they told me and I got some manager and I said, “I don’t understand why every single time over a period of three months, I have had to be on the phone forever.” And her response was, “Oh, I’m sorry.” I said, “Well, I guess what it means is when you ask me next year to renew, and I know you will, I’m going to say no.” And she said, “Well, that’s up to you.” And I felt, “Go to hell.” So when I called the real estate agent, she said, “Well, we actually have an agent that you can call and she’ll take care of this.” And she did. She took care of it in a short time. So, I’ve not been very happy.
Another thing I’m not happy about was the garage door opener that didn’t work and the heating. The garage door guy was okay. It was around Labor Day and I called for electrical. I called and called and called. And after being on the phone for a long time, I went online to do it. I said, “Okay, fine. I don’t like to do it that way but I will.” So I thought I’d arranged everything. Three days later, I haven’t heard from anybody. So I called the company and they said they had fixed me up with someone but I never got a response from them. I waited until after Labor Day. I sat on the phone again and called AHS. And I said, “Look, I don’t know what to do. It’s been five days. I haven’t heard from anybody.”
Well, I come to find out, it’s a one-man company and they finally came back to me and said, “Well, they will do it but it’s going to take another few days.” I said, “I’m not waiting for them. One of the reasons I like to have a warranty is because in addition to having further coverage. I’d like to get to know some of the people who repair things and do things so that in the future, I can say, ‘Oh, yeah, I like this plumber.’ I’m never in a million years going to call somebody who’s a one-person shop who can’t ever come out.” So then they gave me somebody else and he was nice. It still took him four days to get there because he too was a one-person shop.
The heating people did a decent job but they were also a very, very small brand new company. They made it clear to me when I scheduled the time that they didn’t want to come to Belen very much because they were in Albuquerque, but they will do it for me. But they did a good job. So when I needed plumbing, I just called them on my own and they sent their plumbers. Most heating people also have plumbing but they were not so good. This little tiny company came down, fixed three toilets but two of them didn’t work after they left. I called them and they came back another time. They charged me for both times even though I didn’t feel it was my fault. They again told me they really didn’t like to come down to Belen. I thought to myself, “Fine. You’re never going to come down here for me again.”
So as far as I can see, I don’t have an electrician that I want. I don’t have a heating contractor and a plumber. So I’m going to have to find them all on my own because I don’t see that they’re going to come from AHS. I had moved 1,700 miles from Michigan to New Mexico. That’s a big move and it’s very stressful. And when things start to go wrong with a brand new house pretty rapidly, and that’s the kind of response you get from a warranty, I would never recommend it to anybody.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

I was really pissed off with the experience that I had. The contractor left a mess and I had to clean it up. When I was calling for an appointment, they did an appointment, and cancelled it without my notice. And those guys were following it up. They were not informed and I was not informed, too. It was a big chaos and confusion. And I was expecting them to be there. So, I was really upset with what they did because I had to take time out for everything.
And then, I had to reschedule. They gave me somebody else. I have told them I never had a good experience with them because every time somebody comes in fixing something, we pay a $75 service fee although we pay monthly charges. They refunded $75 service fee for the last one though. I also told them I was not liking it because every time there is a problem, I had to follow up multiple times. Since I'm not comfortable writing everything on the web sometimes, I try to call and I had spent two-three hours waiting on the call. Forty minutes first time. Disconnected. Again, 40 minutes. Again, one more time. I had to reach them multiple times to get my things done. That was very disappointing to me and I can't do that anymore.

But, they didn't fix the problem, so I called and asked what was going on. And they were telling me that if they couldn't fix it, they were supposed to replace them. Within about an hour and a half I was contacted by the service company to set an appointment to come out and take a look at it. They came out the next day. This last one we've used AHS probably six times over the last two years and every time the contractors have always been very professional, very courteous, prompt and very forward. We've been very pleased with AHS.

My furnace just didn't work and an American Home Shield's contractor came out. The experience was great but I was a little disappointed because I felt that they won't pay for all of the expense. I have to hurry and try to come up with almost a thousand dollars on top of my deductible. But it is what it is. I was just happy to get it running. The technicians and everybody in AHS were fine. We got into a little back and forth when he felt that they came out and it didn't work. I didn't pay him because I said, "I can't pay you if it doesn't work." He thought it was nothing on their part. So, the boss came out, he looked at it, he did what he needs to do and it worked. Everything worked out well after that.
I filed my claim online and it was much better and really quick because I didn't have to be on hold. So, that worked out really well. We've had AHS sometime this year and we like it. When you have a service like AHS, you don't have to worry about paying everything. You have to be careful because you might end up naive. It was so bad I was able to come up with that money but I would have just lost it. They sent out the estimate to the company before I knew about that extra cost. I could have called another place and got it cheaper. They should've let me know. They could have sent me a text or email saying that this has been approved. Nonetheless, I would tell a friend that AHS is something that you should look into because you never know when something would go wrong that you didn't expect. And it's crazy if you don't have the money. AHS is something that everybody should really have.

The master shower elbow for the drain came loose and there was water leakage in our ceiling. It’s always fantastic submitting a claim to American Home Shield. Their reps were always very helpful. The contractor came in and he cut the drywall out to find where the leak was coming from and fixed the issue. And then through AHS, they had a drywall contractor come out a few days later and fixed the drywall. The plumber took two hours to fix it and then I waited a week or so to have the drywall contractor to come out to make sure that the leak was actually fixed. So far, it’s doing great now. My home warranty ends in December, so I’m looking to extend it with AHS because I've had such a great experience.

I’m happy with American Home Shield, but I haven’t taken the time to understand that once I make the call, the contracted vendor has 24 hours to contact me and make an appointment, and then another 48 hours to get out and see me. I wish it was clearly stated when signing up, as opposed to reading the fine print or having an actual need, as in the need of my furnace being out and being without heat for two weeks.
When I first phoned in to submit my claim, I had the automated system, then I finally got to a live person. Since it was my first time calling, we had a good interaction. I didn’t remember my account number, but they pulled it up with various pieces of information that were necessary. They didn’t have any problems asking what my problem was. That was well-documented and taken care of with great performance by the operator. However, on the second time that I called in, there was a very long wait, and I had to hang up because I was doing some work. I called back in and there was still a long wait because of a high call volume. I can be quote the norm, calling back AHS that there’s a very high call volume no matter when you call. On the other hand, everyone was professional in terms of handling any questions or request when speaking with live representatives.
The contractor that AHS sent had to come out three different times to complete the repair. There was a language barrier with the first technician that came out. He was very soft-spoken, and looked at everything, but I had to wait an additional two days for another technician to come out to check on the problem that he initially assessed. There was also no communication from the moment they left the house or when they were going to have the parts. The second technician came, and I could tell that he was the more senior guy because he came in prepared and was able to look at it and make the proper assessment of what was going on. The first technician finally came back to do the actual repair, and everything has worked accordingly.
I recommend having some type of warranty coverage for everyone’s home, and AHS has handled my claim well. However, I’m not pleased in terms of how long it takes to get the problem resolved, especially when it has to deal with having heat at home. I understand that there’s a priority, but you would think that with the weather, as cold as it was during the time, that it would have been a priority to get things done, but it wasn’t.

We moved in and we've literally only been in the house for a few days and the water heater stopped working. Once I got on the phone with American Home Shield, it was easy and they were great except for the really long hold time on the phone before I got an agent. I waited half an hour on the phone so that took a while. But I've now registered on the website so I can submit the claims online. American Home Shield sent a plumber over who fixed the water heater. I didn't even meet the plumber but my assistant was there and I heard he was great. The hot water system is working perfect now and I'm satisfied.

I have a stuck line between the kitchen and one at the bathroom tub, and so we cannot use the kitchen sink and our shower in the master bedroom. We are now washing dishes outside in the yard. It's ugly. The contractor who came out last Tuesday cannot put his pipe to flush the line because it would be broken and he cannot touch it because it might not be covered. I have been running after the insurance since and they always put me on hold for two hours. This morning, American Home Shield finally said my plumbing problem at home is not covered in my contract, hence I still have to do it myself. Although my appliance problem is being fixed by one of their contractors, I'm still not going to recommend these guys for anybody because their service is very bad.

I bought a house and the AHS warranty came with it. I've used them once and it was for my water heater and they got a contractor out here right away. The problem was parts had to be ordered so my tenants at the house went without water for almost a week. It was bad. But AHS replaced the parts and the water heater has been fine since it was repaired. I've talked to other people who've said that AHS is really lousy and I should never get something from them again. First American has the better policy. But my personal experience with AHS was fine. The problem got fixed and so I'm okay.

American Home Shield sent a contractor who was able to fix my dryer. All is good now. It took a little while to fix I think because when they first came out there was a part that had to be ordered. They had to come back a second time, but other than that everything is working out well. Submitting the online claim is relatively easy. We had them come out and service things before. You get an email notification which contractor is going to be and they’ll be contacting you to set up the appointment and pretty much fell all right in line.
The contractor assessed what was wrong and, obviously, dryers and washing machines are something they deal with all the time every day, so when they came out they quickly identified the problem and figured out what they needed to do, and what they didn’t have and that they had to get back to fix. The only downside, however, was the time between it breaking and having them come out and being able to fix it with the part and all. We had to use the Laundromat to dry clothes, but that’s always a bummer and inconvenience to wash your clothes and have to take them wet somewhere to dry them down the road and sit or leave them in the Laundromat and then go back an hour later. Nevertheless, the experience with the actual technician from the company and American Home Shield was a good one. We have had them for 15 years already. I'd recommend them to a friend.

American Home Shield's website is well-organized and it was easy to submit my claim online. I filed two claims on two different air conditioning units and both claims were resolved quickly so they’re doing a good job. Recently the air conditioning unit had stopped working and it was some kind of a smoke sensor that was overriding the circuit. We weren’t home and we had another contractor in the house, so the contractor sent by AHS let himself in, went upstairs, found the issue, resolved it easily and he was in and out in 15 minutes.

I've had American Home Shield for 6 years and my time with them is ending this month. They doubled my rates and told me I would not be allowed to sign up for anything they offer online. I've been pleased and displeased with this company over the years. One main thing I was unhappy about is plumbing clogs. Instead of just changing out my garbage disposal they continued having me pay a $75 service fee every time they came out. Can't even count the number of times. They also would not allow their plumbers to go on the roof to clear clogs. If you live in FL this is a problem.
They did finally replace the garbage disposal. No problems since with that area of the house. The tech they did send installed it wrong and flooded my cabinet and floor and someone else had to come out. Their hold times are unacceptable and their lack of having service people available to come out is unsatisfactory. Had to get an outside vendor to fix our last issue although AHS did reimburse. Doubling my premiums isn't going to happen. Will try another company and see how it goes. Their response and service is getting worse and worse. Lucky I gave them 3 stars.

We have been paying for a policy with American Home Shield for approximately 2.5 years. We just used the service for the first time. The process is still not complete. I filed the request for service on 10/26. I received a phone call from CMC Appliance (their contractor) on 10/27. I set up the appointment for 10/30. After speaking with Meredith I received a text from AHS confirming my appointment for 10/31. Nope. Wrong day. I responded to find out you could not respond. I began calling CMC and called six (6) times and left 6 messages stating the day was wrong. No one ever called me back.
On Monday 10/30, the day I originally set up the appointment, I called CMC first thing and Meredith basically insinuated I was lying when I said the appointment was that day. She said they could "work me in" later that day. No, this was the day I set up the appointment. The tech showed up and said he needed to order a part. He said it would be a couple weeks and they'd call to set up the install. The next time I heard from CMC was nearly four weeks later on 11/20, the week of Thanksgiving. Meredith said the part was in and they wanted to schedule the install the following week. I said I was going to be out of town and couldn't do it then. She acted a bit miffed that I wasn't going to be available. I then set up the appointment for 12/06. She gave me a window of 12-4.
On 12/06 at 1:28 pm, an hour and a half into the time window, I got a call from Meredith. I was unable to answer the call and she left a message. Before I could listen to the message I received a text from AHS stating my appointment had been canceled. I was angry. I figured it was because I was not able to answer the phone. When I listened to the message Meredith left she stated the part had not come in and they had to cancel. Uh...wait...you called on 11/20 and said the part was IN and you wanted to schedule the install. Also, you are just calling an hour and a half into the time window to tell me the part was not in?? I wasted a day off work to wait for you. Why didn't you know this the day prior!? She went on to say in her message that she'd call me the following day (today) after she spoke to AHS.
Today, 12/07, I called CMC and spoke to Meredith. I questioned her about the part and she said it was on backorder and they just got it "five minutes ago". I said that was interesting since she said on 11/20 the part was in. She said she never said that. Well, then why did you call me to set up the install. She then became defensive and said I could call AHS and start the entire process over. I told her no, I expected her to finish the job as started. I set up another appointment for 12/12.
I then tried to find a phone number for AHS. There is apparently no number where you can speak with someone to make a complaint. I went through the billing line and waited over 10 minutes on hold to finally reach Angel. I told her that I didn't know if she was who I wanted to speak with that I had a complaint. She took some basic info and then said she could see I had an appointment scheduled for 12/06. She also stated that CMC had put in a part order on 11/22. Wait...they called me on 11/20 and wanted to set up the install the following week. Meredith said they "had the part". Apparently, she lied to me. I then questioned Angel about this and said again that if she was not the person to handle my complaint that I needed to speak to someone else.
She said to hold on a minute. For 5-7 minutes I could hear her typing. I finally asked what she was doing and she said she was waiting for me to speak to someone else and she was going to complete a Contractor Relations form. She never asked me for any real details and I hadn't explained anything other than to say I had a major complaint. After waiting another 3-4 minutes she said she was putting me on hold. I waited several more minutes before Angel came back and said that there was no one else I could speak with. So...we are back to square one. I have had no assistance from AHS. I have had horrible customer service from CMC Appliance. I have an appointment for 12/06. It is yet to be seen if they actually show up and actually install the part. I will most likely cancel with AHS after all this. It is far too much hassle for having paid them 2.5 years and having never filed a claim until now.

Please do NOT use them anymore. I've had AHS for over 4 years and originally it was pretty good, they were responsive, the contractors did their jobs, and I had no issues. Now? They're only available 8 AM-7 PM and you call anytime after 4 PM, there's over a 1 HOUR wait. Seriously?!? You have to wait on the phone at least 1 hour, maybe 2 or 3 on the phone waiting for someone. They don't use email or live support or anything besides a call system that puts you on hold for hours and hours. I've never had such bad support. I can't tell you how many hours I've waited on the stupid line. I'm leaving ASAP and the #1 thing I'll be looking for now is how long the customer service wait line is.
Speaking of coverage, one of the contractors they hired came to my home to repair an AC and they never fixed it. They just took the money from the insurance and I tried calling them, they basically just ignore your request and don't pick up. In August we had an issue with the stove not having enough insulation and it's getting too hot to touch and I filed a claim online. What happened after was absolutely awful. They sent someone out who did not remedy the issue. I tried calling and every time call you call you're placed on a 90 minute hold time because you can't contact someone directly.
The first company they sent said he couldn’t fix the problem but he was not willing to say that because he was concerned about his contract with American Home Shield being cancelled for requesting a replacement. So, he flat out an excuse to state that the stove needed to be replaced. They sent the same person out three times. The second person they sent out resolved it after three months. He came out after the first visit and said, “I can't fix this. You need a new stove” and he submitted that and then I got a check to buy a new stove. He was fantastic.
The American Home Shield policy came as a gift from the real estate broker when we bought the house so, I didn’t pay for the policy. Because it was a free add-on my level of satisfaction is different. But had I paid for the policy, I think my level of satisfied would be much lower. They used to have a chat feature but it looked like they took that away. We've had American Home Shield for a year but this is the first time we've used it to get service on our air conditioning. It worked fine over the summer. But when we used it over the winter only some rooms were getting some heat. American Home Shield gave me someone that works on that area quickly. The technician called me 30 minutes before they came to make sure there were no snafus or anything. They were able to get there early than what we needed but it was cool because that helped us out.
One thing I don't like is it's sort of hard when you have to do multi-things when you go online so that you won't have to get two separate service calls. That could be a little bit more convenient. American Home Shield has a good program, but they need to be more upfront about exactly what the air conditioning part covers. When you say air conditioning unit, there are so many different parts. They nitpick each little teeny-tiny thing. If it's not working, it means something else is going on with it, so fix it. If I say I wanted to have the company for my air conditioning, I have to be specific. And I don't know that because when they say they cover air conditioning, I thought they cover everything that's there. But it doesn't cover this piece or I need to have this part on my premium. I still got to put out some more money than what I wanted to put out. But as far as the people that they have, they are nice and very easy to work with.

Our furnace heat exchanger was broken and we weren’t able to use it anymore. I called up American Home Shield and it took me a while to actually be able to speak to someone. But eventually I got a hold of somebody. I was waiting for a long time and I finally was able to speak with someone and we arranged for the people to come by and do it. I was a little bit disappointed that the heat exchanger is like the real expensive part of the system and it tend to mean that you have to rebuild most of it. I was kind of disappointed that they didn’t actually want to replace the entire thing. If I was paying for myself I would have just replaced everything because I'm sure something else is going to fail in a few years.
But in any case all that was approved was the heat exchanger so I said, “Okay, they're doing that.” And the technicians came out and they took care of it. The only thing that was weird wasn’t their fault necessarily but it was when the person was done putting it in. They said that there was like a small charge. I forgot exactly how much it was. So before we paid it I called up his boss and they're like, “Oh, yeah. American Home Shield is going to cover everything but you can call them up and see what they say and then whatever.”
So I called up American Home Shield and they're like, “Yeah, everything is covered. I don't know what they're talking about. Don’t pay them.” I didn’t want the guys sitting around in the house waiting so I paid them with a credit card so that I could reject it if I really needed to. And then I called them back -- shortly after I spoke to American Home Shield and I guess they called him and told him and then the charge was reversed on the phone. So it worked out.
I was happy that they did that. But I was a little bit unhappy that there was some sort of miscommunication that I was going to get charged by the guy and he's trying to charge me. I don’t necessarily think it's American Home Shield's fault but I don't know if it's because there was some sort of original miscommunication. But other than that we're fine and I would recommend them. You can't call your own guy and have him look it and fix it. You need to have their people come out and look at it even if you've already paid somebody to come out which is annoying but the job still did get done in the end.

My AC went out and it wasn’t blowing any cold air. And so, the American Home Shield contractor came out and said that there’s a capacitor that has gone out. So, he replaced that and had it fixed within 10-15 minutes. Submitting claims to AHS is really easy. Previously, I have submitted a claim on several different appliances. But because they could contract it out to one appliance dealer, I only got charged one service fee which was awesome instead of getting charged the $75 fee for three different appliances that I had an issue. They were able to do that which I really like. Their website allows you to group different things if they’re related.
Furthermore, when I did have that one service call where they were lumped together, I had an issue with the first contractor they sent it to, they never contacted me. So I had to get it changed. But when I changed it to a new contractor, it charged me a second service fee. But they were like, “Well, you’re not responsible for this because you’ve already paid the service fee. And since we’re having to shift contractors, you don’t have to pay it." Well, that fee stayed on my thing and I kept getting a notice saying I owed $75 for three months afterward. It was very frustrating because I had to call in three different times over the same issue with 30 minutes to an hour wait and they kept telling me it was going to be resolved, it wasn’t my fault. They never cancelled my service because that fee was on there. It was frustrating for me to keep getting notices.
I’ve recommended it to multiple people in six months that I’ve had it. There may have been some issues that popped up with the one contractor but that wasn’t AHS’s fault. As soon as I told them, they got me a new contractor. It was no problem. I highly recommend it. And I’ve told people that for what you pay for and what you get out of it, especially if your house is more than about three years old, you’re going to start having issues pop up. And it’s very convenient. When I had an issue with the dryer, I put in the call, they came and replaced it. The replacement was very easy. They send me a link saying, “Here, pick which dryer you want.” And they came and installed it. I’m very happy and satisfied with it. But despite the frustrations of the call, that minor frustration to me is worth what I’ve saved in repair cost and the peace of mind of knowing that if something goes wrong, it’s just a couple clicks away and I can get somebody out here.

I've not been disappointed with any of them yet. They cleared the pipe out, and it gets blocked up again, eventually, cleared that again. But it's got a bulge in it and to replace the pipe is a $10,000 job. They replaced the blower and main unit for the air conditioner and heater combination. And it's been working fine since then. I have American Home Shield for about 3 years now and I had one experience where we called for a repair to our washing machine. And when the plumber came out to fix the washing machine he said, “I can’t touch that machine because it’s under recall and I’m not allowed to touch it. My company won’t. You have to go through Samsung to get it fixed.” I had to pay the fee for them getting somebody out here but they can do nothing and I got referred to Samsung and they’re not very responsible.
They explained to me that it's not their fault that they could not work on the machine and it's $75 and it is probably about the cost of the service call anyway. I was thinking that if there’s been a recall the manufacturer would have had the information and should have notified me that my washing machine was under recall. I was not happy that I didn’t know that my warranty had been extended by one year because they had to send somebody out to some kind of work on the machine. So it's not costing me anything if I have problem now for the next year and a half. I wasn’t made aware that there’s been a recall. But that has been the only problem that I’ve run into.
I’ve started submitting the claim online because you have to wait two hours to talk to a human being. The phone lines are back-up and when you do it on the internet it’s very smooth and very easy. Also everyone that have came out I’ve praised them high. I’ve been thankful and one time I had to have a water heater replaced and it was replaced at no extra cost to me. And recently our garage door wouldn’t open and It took about 30 minutes for the technician to solve it and fix it. Unless you’re a good handyman or you have a good handyman American Home Shield is to be trusted to do that thing. I have not been disappointed in anybody they sent to my house.

I just called American Home Shield and I was on hold in an hour. But it's better to talk to a live person than it is to go through the internet. I got water all over the kitchen floor. There's something wrong with the ice maker. It's running down the freezing compartment and everything is getting wet and I got hardwood floors in the kitchen. So they said they would do their best to get someone out there.
I had outstanding service with American Home Shield. The contractors were on time. They cleaned everything up. They were respectful, very well-dressed, very clean and I was very impressed. I would want them to come back. What we had to do was we had to pull out the refrigerator and we had to unplug the refrigerator so that the water would stop. We got it cleaned up. I talked to the repairman. He said he would be out there as quickly as possible. He tried to get someone to let me come in first and then them and they wouldn't do it so he did his first job and came to me. I couldn't ask for a better service. I think they are getting a little expensive but I always got a good service from them.

We got the American Home Shield warranty with the whole house. A month ago after the hurricane, the motor of my of AC went off. And so, we used AHS. The company was very professional and we got the AC fixed. Submitting the claim to AHS was very easy. I got a couple friends that I've recommended to the company. Working with AHS was worth it because my motor costs a $1000 and it’s already covered. They have a good service.

I've been with American Home Shield for 20 years and that says I'm happy with them. When I had a leak under my bathroom sink, I just called, they set up the appointment and the contractor came, fixed the sink and then left. The only problem I have with American Home Shield is that the initial people that you deal with, they’re very resistant and very rude. You’re trying to explain something and they’re not really listening. Like one time I was trying to explain to the rep that I needed somebody and it was basically an emergency because I have a health problem. They said, "Well we’ll get there as soon as we can", but I needed to get somebody here sooner than that. That part of their service has gone down tremendously. Other than that, I had no problems with the contractors that were sent.

The kitchen sink is leaking in one of the pipes. I submitted my claim online like I always do because it’s more convenient. They had contractors sent out to me several times and everybody was very professional. The performance of the appliances is very good.

We leased a house for three years before we bought our current house, and the landlord provided American Home Shield. When we bought our house four years ago, we initiated a policy and then again designated AHS as the warranty service. The most recent tech fixed a faucet in my bathroom and a part of the bath and toilet. It was going to become a big inconvenience because the sink wouldn’t shut off. It needed to be screwed in properly, and it was hitting the wall before we shut off. He needed a part, and he came back with that a day or two later. He resolved it immediately and was very good. I submitted this claim online and it was easy. Now everything’s resolved. We just bought another house, and we insisted that the seller insure with American Home Shield ‘cause we’ve been satisfied with the service. I’ll make sure to use them again and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

The plumber AHS sent was excellent and we had a good experience. There was a problem with our kitchen faucet so a new one was bought and our plumber replaced our faucet with it. The garbage disposal was broken too and he ordered a part for it and put it in. And everything has worked fine. One thing though, it's better to go online to file a claim with AHS. If you go on the phone, you're going to have to wait a little while.

I recently called in a claim ‘cause the refrigerator wasn’t making ice. I submitted online from my phone, which was okay though it'd be better on a desktop. The contractors are very professional and I like them, plus everything has been good since their repair. My experience with American Home Shield started out a few years ago and was much better than what it is now, but it is what it is.

My air conditioning stopped and I’m really mad at the people that serviced it because it was just two weeks before, I was completely out of Freon and it costs an arm and leg to replace that Freon. Then I submitted a claim with AHS and it wasn't too difficult at all. They worked really hard to try to get services out to me as quickly as possible because I have a 93-year-old mother who lives with me and a child who has brain shunt. The guy who came out was really nice. I like them a whole better than the guy who first serviced my AC.
On the other hand, I had trouble when the plumbing came and I didn’t feel that I should be penalized having to pay for a second call for the same repair. But, I like the last plumber who finally came out and fixed my problem. I've been with AHS for at least 12 years and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it. It’s not perfect and I get frustrated but so far, I haven’t found another company that I would deal with besides them.

Our garage door was not working properly and American Home Shield sent a vendor out to look at it. The tech cranked up the downward and upward spring of the 20-year old unit. I also told them my research that that makes my garage door potentially more unsafe and then it put more force on a way around an old unit that I inherited from buying the house. He said, "No, that's what you are supposed to do". I said that it's like patching up an old broken thing - you patch and patch it until it busts. I have a child in the house now. What happens when the lasers don't work one time? It crushes someone and what if they slip and they get crushed? So, imagine, they don't want to hear my claim at that point. I think they're sleazy, and AHS does not really care.
All they're going to do is they're going to replace it whenever it finally breaks. If it does break and if you don't have search protector on it, then they still won't reimburse it. I had another estimate done by another person and they said the complete opposite of what the vendor to AHS said, which makes sense. So, I don't plan on investing in American Home Shield ever again. I had to pay $75 even be told, "No", and I'm supposed to have my family interest at heart or even protecting us or warranting us. AHS also won't take my call, it was just auto-prompt interactions with them. I won't recommend them, and I will probably never use another home warranty again. It's frustrating when you buy something to protect your family and they don't do a very good job, nor do whatever their contract says.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

I have a big house and two units and sometimes, one compensates for the other. I had to call American Home Shield as my air conditioner wasn't cooling properly. The first technician was fine but the second one used the unit and didn't find anything wrong with it. Although, I still think it might be an issue with some of the ductwork, the timer or the thermostat. When he left, I was disappointed. I told the rep my problem and she said they would call the contractor back. But right now, everything's cool and I'm fine.
I would be glad to speak with you and resolve your experience with the issues you have encountered to have your AC units repaired.

I had a circuit out and submitting a claim online for it to American Home Shield was pretty easy. The contractor came over when he said he was going to be here, and he fixed it. The only problem I’ve ever had was when I filed for another claim a few months back for our Samsung microwave. They assigned a contractor and said that he would contact me. However, before that happened, I got another email from them saying that they had assigned somebody else. And then, I spent the next over a month getting bills from them for the $150 service fee. I did not appreciate that. They blamed it on their computer that could not handle it when they had switched from one contractor to another. But when they looked into it, they found out what had happened. Also, the only reason I knew that was that the call or the email stopped. They did not call or email me and say everything has been straightened out, which they probably should have. Nevertheless, I have recommended them.

The dryer was making a loud noise and I can’t take it anymore. The contractor of American Home Shield came out. However, I failed to give their rep the part number so the contractor got that. Then he came the following week and not more than 10 minutes, the dryer was fixed. He was very professional and stated that if the problem continues, he'll be here to help and fix it. AHS met my expectations.

I called a claim in and the American Home Shield reps asked me about it. The light on my outlet was red and it wouldn’t turn back. The electrical guy came out and he fixed my outlet for me. He checked it out and he replaced it, then he fixed all of the outside outlet. He showed why they kept tripping and where to fix it. I was also switching a fan out in my kid’s room and I didn’t know how to do it. He didn’t do it for me but he explained how to do it and I was able to do it, so it was great. I have talked to some people about a warranty business and I recommended American Home Shield because they cover quite a bit and we have just the basic package. Every time we call, the people always come out quite quickly and they always get the matter cleared up.

I saw water dripping in my boiler room which goes from my kid's bathroom. When I went to the bathroom, I saw that water drip. And when the bathtub was not draining, my husband did put a drain on and I could see some corrosion on the pipes that go out for the venting. That made me think there got to be some kind of leak. When the contractors from American Home Shield came I was not home but my mother-in-law and my kids were. They could not figure out. They ran the water and they did not see any drip. So, I got the Tupperware placed where I found the water.
A couple of days later, I found the droplets again. Between the second call and that, my kitchen sink was not running, so they came and they fixed that and at the same time, they looked at the bathtub too. Now I don't see any drip. I made the claim on the phone, and then for the second time my husband did it online. The AHS reps were courteous and friendly too and they did address it. The only thing I could complain about is the time.
