I had a stove top cartridge replaced on my Jenn-Air and I had a wonderful experience when I submitted the claim to American Home Shield. The people that they worked with were very conscientious. I also had a leak in my hot water heater and I had it taken care of. They came out, replaced it and hooked it up. They did that within the same day and they did a wonderful job. Everything is working great since then. I have had American Home Shield for two years now and I'm very happy with it. They have always taken care of anything that isn't working properly and they get to me as quickly as they can. I've enjoyed working with them and I'd absolutely recommend it.

American Home Shield provided a vendor for my heat pump. They came on the phone pretty fast. They called, came, and they fixed it and it was about a few days for them to come. My heat pump is working much better now. My electric bill in January was $960, so they replaced the thermostat and right now, everything is working good.
Back in January though when I had another claim, I was on the phone and it was taking about an hour trying to get through to AHS. In October, the same way. Also, back in October, I had a problem with my washer and AHS didn’t have a local vendor in my area and they ended up getting Sears which took a long time with getting somebody out here. I am not happy with how long it takes to get through to AHS. The vendor that I got to fix my washer would sit on the phone, trying to get through for a half an hour and they would call the next day for a half an hour and the next day, another a half an hour. American Home Shield is having us wait too long and that is something that needs to be fixed. Do not go with this company.
I understand your concerns with the previous hold times and delay in service you experienced to have issues resolved. I am glad to hear that your most recent experience was fast and efficient.

American Home Shield reps on the phone were sometimes nice, sometimes they were reasonable. Normally, their contractor was out within two days or three. Some contractors were very good but some were a disaster just like the one for a pool. We waited for them for a week and they never called us back. We had to call again and AHS had to change with another company. That process was a pain because the insurance didn't want to send anybody else because they already started fixing the problem, and they didn't want other people to come. That company was horrible. The repair on the pool didn't even last a year. We called a few months ago and they had to change the same pump that they had changed that time because, clearly, they didn't know what they were doing. They put a very cheap brand.
The second contractor that came said, they don't even use those brand anymore because they were horrible. So, the guy put a different one and told us the brand and that they can give us a warranty on that. The other one was a piece of crap. Sometimes, having a home warranty is good but some other times, it's better just to take care of the problem out of pocket and not paying them the monthly fees. My last call was about my air conditioning and heater, and they don't want to replace it. They just want to give us very little for the repair. We already asked people around and the amount is not even half of what it costs and they don't want to give us anymore for that. So sometimes, we'd rather do it ourselves and not pay the insurance.

My husband called AHS and left a message for them that we had an issue. They said that they would call back within 24 hours and they did, and they even came on time. The contractor that came out was great and since the repair, the thing that we had an issue with has been working fine. We’re satisfied with American Home Shield.

My heater was not working properly, and filing a claim for that with American Home Shield was very simple and easy. I went online and immediately there I could file a claim and pay for my deductible. The contractor was very good. He came right away and he was very professional and nice. He got the problem taken care of, and the heater is working great now.

My double sink were leaking both sides. The AHS rep listened when I called to submit a claim and he was very responsive to my request. Then the contractor they sent was very nice and did his job very well. He had to come back with a part or two though, but it was all timely. Since the repair, there has been no more leaks and I could use both sinks. American Home Shield does a very good job.

My heat pump wasn't working right. It would get to a certain degree like if I set it on 68, it would get to 65 then it wouldn't go any higher. It wouldn't heat up. I called and left the number for American Home Shield and they said somebody would contact me and it was mostly through text messages or emails after that. They texted and said that Guaranteed Services would be getting in touch with me within so many hours or days.
The lady whom I talked to at Guaranteed Services was very nice. Also, their techs were great. They explained the things that I asked. They had to order a part and the part didn’t come in. They had to wait for the part. But, it wasn't their fault. They couldn't put it on until they got it. So, I had to get space heaters when the real cold snapped. Nevertheless, I made it. Right now, the heat pump is working okay.

My AC unit had a problem with defrosting and I filed a claim with American Home Shield. I've submitted claims both online and over the phone, and everything was handled. The representatives were friendly when I spoke to them. It usually took two days between submitting a claim and getting a contractor to our home, and that timeline was on a first come, first served basis. The contractors that they've sent out have been a hit or miss. This time, they were able to repair the AC and, so far, it has been working well.

The last time I went to AHS was for the washer that went bad. They had a technician come out again because it happened a few months before that. It was determined that it was going to be 800-dollar or something to replace the part and it wasn't worth it so AHS ended up giving us money to find another washer. Once we found one we purchased it and sent AHS the paperwork how much it was. They told me how much money they were going to give us and they sent us the money within a week or less. American Home Shield has been great. They've always been there and they've always satisfied me. I would recommend AHS to anybody.

My experience sucked. I had a clogged toilet so I had no bathroom and after submitting the claim to American Home Shield online, I called on Saturday morning to get it expedited. They said that they would put an urgent order on it but it went to Sundance North West and six hours and four voicemails later, Sundance had still not returned any of my calls. The reps from American Home Shield were super fine but they said that they have 24 hours and that is their version of expediting. I was upset about that. Still, they were really nice and while they put me on hold, they called Sundance and left a message, giving permission for my claim to be expedited.
I had called it in at eight o’clock in the morning and I called back at four because I still hadn't heard from anyone. AHS called and left another message by five o’clock. American Home Shield also said that if they put me in their generic pool to call people then it might be the next week before someone gets out. That was not an option so I went ahead and cancelled the claim and called Roto-Rooter. I ended up having to spend 200 dollars out of my own pocket and American Home Shield never offered to refund my money.
Sundance did not call me until Friday, which was six days later. Their rep said that it was not their fault and that they had called and left a message. But they did not and she told me that I lied. Also, I didn’t understand why AHS wouldn’t reach out to say that they can get someone else out here. That wasn’t really an option that they made available to me. But that was the only disappointing thing on my end. AHS tried their best to give me the services and I’ve never had any issues before. This time, it was not AHS either. It was the contractor that they were using.

The technicians of American Home Shield have been good but there was a contractor who tried to upsell themselves when they came to work on my heater. One guy then told me that if I didn’t pay him $129 to have him clean it, he was going to turn it in and I wouldn’t have a warranty on my heater anymore. For AHS not to cover my heater is not for him to say but I’ve kept it clean all along. So I paid him $129 and he supposedly cleaned it. But that’s the only problem I’ve had other than having to wait on the phone too long to talk to a rep and turn in a claim. It took me about 45 minutes on the phone and then two to three days for someone to come out.
And then one guy on the water heater came because it was leaking. He said we needed a new water heater. He said they would go get it tomorrow but at that time they had to put straps on it, build the box for it to stand on and get it up to code and it was $1,200. I told them no and to just leave it under that part. I called the people from AHS and they said I didn't need a new water heater.
I called another plumber, this one from Little Tommy's, and he came over. The pressure top was coming out of the water heater and had to be extended to the hole and then the straps were put on. He did everything and I got all that done for $300. I called American Home Shield right away and told them about that, and that went rot. AHS would have given me a new one if I paid the first contractor $1,200. That’s just not right at all. Nevertheless, I love all the people at American Home Shield and everything that they all do. I've been with them for 20 years and they are really fair. It’s good to have American Home Shield.

Our most recent claim with American Home Shield was for our water heater. We actually had to go through claims for this issue two different times, so we ended up paying $150 because the water heater wasn’t heating well and it was very old. We filed those claims online because I waited and waited but it was impossible to get a hold of them over the phone. I would like to be able to get someone to answer the phone. It would be nice to be able to ask questions from somebody instead of trying to type everything online.
The first time, American Home Shield had an electrician come out. The electrician that came out said that the water heater was old and that we needed a new one. He was very nice but he was exceedingly late. He had said that he’d be there between four and six, but it was actually a quarter to eight before he came out. There was no prewarning from him and when he came he said, "I got stuck at another job. Sorry." Then, the second time, American Home Shield had the plumbing guy come out. Instead of saying that we needed a new water heater, the plumbing guy stuck something in the water heater and now it’s working okay. However, due to what we’ve experienced with American Home Shield, my realtor is not recommending them now. They’re using a different home warranty provider because my children are buying a home through them.

Every time that we have used American Home Shield the experience has been very easy, simple, and the service has been good. We had a recent claim for the garage door as it wouldn’t go up and down. I submitted the claim through the phone and had a very nice experience with the rep. Then a very nice guy also came out and fixed the garage door. He explained everything to us the way that he should and told us what we were facing. He also called in and made sure it was covered. Everything was covered, so it worked out really well. I recommended American Home Shield to a lot of people that I know. They tell me that theirs has never covered anything and so I told them I had one that wasn't covered and that they need to switch next time you get a homeowner’s insurance.

The light in my garage was out, so I called American Home Shield and made an appointment for the electrician to come out. He came out and he looked at the light and he said that it needed to be replaced. He said that he would call back American Home Shield to see if they were going to take care of it and they said they did not do anything outside. So I talked to one of their representatives and I told them that in order for him to find out if there was something wrong with the lights, it had to be inside in the garage so that he could get the electrician. But she forwarded to the page which said they don’t do outside. The electrician came back today and he is going to finish up and put up my light. I’m waiting for him to do that, but I have to carry the cost which I was not excited about. I bought the light to go outside and I have to pay him. So, I'm paying two times.
I was going to send you American Home Shield a nice full of note since my husband and I had American Home Shield for a while and we don’t call that often too. It just happened that at that particular time, we had to call for a plumber and I was just checking because my water bill was still high. The plumber came and he checked everything and he said I didn’t have a leak. I was very thankful for that because I’d ask him if I have one on the outside. They said I would have to pay to have my own faculty build up. But I was grateful that it wasn’t that. The water company said that it was a possibility that I left all of the water faucet dripping since we didn't want to have any frozen pipes, and that tripled my water bill.
I was very satisfied with the plumber and also with the electrician. I’m hoping that if I have to use American Home Shield again, I won’t have that same experience with the light, and I would go through my policy before I call. I encourage other people to pull out their contract and read it because that’s where I got caught. But other than that, I was satisfied with American Home Shield as they provided good service and I’ve had a very good experience with them.

We discovered a leak underneath coming from our sink, and it was happening for a couple of days before we realized where it was coming from. I put in a request online and described the problem. I had a call returned the next day just getting clarification on everything and the interactions with their customer service went great. They wanted me to diagnose the problem again and describe them in my own words what was going on. And they seem to understand what I was talking about and told me what was going to happen next.
The contractor who came out quickly did a great job. He diagnosed what the problem was and told me immediately what was going to happen all within 20 minutes. The problem he said was the exact issue and he described what I needed to do and the rest was handled. He told me that American Home Shield would be able to cover something like this, and he was right. All we have to wait for was the sink that he ordered to be replaced. So, it went great.
If a friend would ask me about American Home Shield, I would give positive reviews. I already passed along the word, for how things worked out, to a couple of my friends who are also new homeowners and I’ve been happy doing that. I told them that American Home Shield was quick to respond and didn’t have to call to describe everything. The online portal was really easy to manage and submit my complaint. Then a repairman or plumber was able to get out in a reasonable amount of time, and that if they have an issue somewhere similar to mine in the future, they should definitely give that same system a shot and everything will go pretty smooth.

I submitted a claim for that issue online. The online submission process was easy and I called back the next business day, so that was fine. The contractor that was sent out by American Home Shield to fix the issue called me and asked me which time block I wanted, whether morning or afternoon, and I chose the morning time block between 8 AM and 1 PM.
The technician was going to come out the next day. However, he came a little late and ended up working two hours after the time blocked in. But that was all right and I just had to work around my work schedule. When the sink gurgled during the service call, the technician didn’t find out where the problem was and he said that there was nothing he could do. Since he left, our sink still gurgles. The technician did some adjustments, but he didn’t fix anything, so I’ll be calling back.
Good afternoon Tina,
I am pleased to hear about your AHS experience to have the repairs completed. It is our goal to provide you with excellent service and make the online portal easy to use.

My washing machine wouldn't spin and wouldn't release the water so I got on the phone with American Home Shield and filed a claim. They listened to what I said and then they took care of it as soon as possible. It was a very good experience. The contractor then came out and thought he fixed it. He didn’t have me do a load of wash when he was here, so he couldn’t tell whether it was working or not. But after I tried it after he left, it didn’t work. So I had to call them back out. Our house was build in 2007 and having a warranty is very important. We have had AHS on my other house, so we continued with it. The most recent claim we had with them was for our garage door. One of its ropes broke. The rep that I talked to was very good. I like to call because most of the time I don't know what's covered and what's not. They then sent a contractor and he was good. However, I was told that AHS doesn't cover my case, so my son paid the contractor by check. I then paid the deductible by credit card and their customer service took that. AHS drives me crazy about which things are covered and which things are not. But I'm working and I don't have time to look for a contractor so it's easier for me to have it this way.

However, it took me two hours to get on the phone with somebody and that has been a consistent issue with American Home Shield. We purchased this house last year and it has AHS warranty. I always submit my claims online and within a day, I get a response. To escalate a problem, I have to pay a $75 charge for the call, which I could pay online. I also did some research on one of these companies and AHS was the number one. I checked two other ones and I didn’t like what I saw in them. AHS has a better policy, so much so that I renewed it for another year because it expired in March. For the $60 that I'm paying a month, I have an insurance policy and it's a lot easier for me at least to have something like that in my back pocket. The policy I have is the top of the line which covers any county codes.
About a month ago, I had a problem with my heat pump. It was 10 years old already so they had no problem replacing it. And that's a $3,000 item right there. It had to be elevated six inches off the ground. The guy that gave them an estimate on the apartment wanted to charge me an extra $900 because he had to pull permits and put Freon in. I called AHS and the lady, Jackie, said that that was not right because those heat pumps already have the Freon in it so they didn’t have to put it in. That was money in my pocket I saved. And since I had the elite policy, I was covered.
We also have a power flush toilet and it pushes everything down quicker. I had a problem where it wasn’t working. The guy came out and made a small adjustment and it's been fine ever since. The techs they've sent are qualified. With other companies, you have to fight this and that but with AHS you don’t have to. You have them come out, you tell them what the problem is and they fix it or replace it. I've told a friend who asked me about AHS that getting it is the best thing to do.

It was New Year’s Eve and I had a water leak in my basement. Water was coming through the wall, up under the carpet. So I had to turn off my whole house water. I was home and I got it pretty quickly so the damage was minimal. I called American Home Shield right away or tried to and it said that my wait was over an hour and then I felt that maybe it’s New Year’s Eve and maybe there’s nobody there. So I went online and put it online because I felt that I can wait until the morning and see what they’d say. That night, I quickly got a text that said, “This is your plumbing guy. This is who will do the work.”
In the morning, I waited for the plumber. I texted the plumber. I called the plumber and they said they weren’t available, like nobody was there. So I said, “Well, it’s New Year's Day” but I went online and I looked for an emergency number for that plumber. There was nothing. I tried to call American Home Shield again and the wait was over an hour so I didn’t wait anymore. I ended up looking for emergency plumbers who would be reasonable in my area who would come out and I found Mr. Rooter who doesn’t charge a holiday or extra fee for weekends and they were able to come out the next day.
In the meantime, I had gotten a text from the plumber and it said that they couldn’t even come out until Wednesday and this was Sunday. So the plumber ended up coming and fixing it. Then I tried to call AHS on Monday to tell them that I had it fixed. They told me that it wouldn’t be covered because I used an outside source. I told them that it wasn’t fair because I couldn’t get a hold of anybody to find another plumber from them. Somebody had told me to email my information to a place and fax it. I did that and I also sent a letter to the headquarters with my information. I hadn’t heard anything so I ended up calling and a couple of weeks later, I got a hold of somebody and the guy said, “Oh yeah, this was processed. I’m going to put you through our claims office and they’ll tell you when you should be getting a check.” When I got to them, they were like “No. He was wrong. He gave you the wrong information.”
Somehow, I got to Sue. She said, “Let me gather the information.” She was very helpful and she wanted me to try to get the plumber so she could talk to the plumber but he wouldn’t call me back. I called three times over there to talk to him. Mr. Rooter is a big company where they just farm people out. She kept saying she was giving him messages but he never called. So she went on the receipt which clearly said “This was not due to a freeze. This was due to a bad coupling that had broken apart.” Sue was like, “I’m going to prove it for you” so it was very nice. But she said “Send your letter with your name and the receipt to this address,” the people who would give me the check.
Then within a week, I had gotten a letter from them and it said, “We need a legible receipt. We can’t read this and it doesn’t show that you paid this amount.” It clearly said on the receipt that I had paid with my credit card. It was hand written but I could read it and Sue could read it. So I wrote a letter and wrote word for word what it said on that receipt. I told them they could even call Mr. Rooter if they wanted because that’s the only kind of receipt I can get. I just got the check the other day and it was minus my $75 deductible but it was a long process. Before this process, I had a few things that I had AHS fixed in my home and they did a great job. This could have been handled a little bit better. They said that they’re working on getting a hold of their call process. They have a live chat now which was helpful.

The last time, we were on the phone on hold for an hour and 45 minutes. Contacting American Home Shield is brutally painful. They sent a plumber out three times to fix our sink, and the last time, he said “I can’t do this, we need to send a company out that has a camera”, so then another company called, who doesn’t have the camera.
I go on the website and I click “Our sink doesn’t work”, but there’s no place on that website to say, “Plumber number 1 says that the person who needs to come out needs to come with a camera”. And also, it’s like if I go to a cardiologist, I would want the cardiologist to talk to my primary care doctor. I don’t understand the lingo of plumbers and I want that plumber to explain what they need. The reason we’re asking for a plumber is that I need their expertise.
The communication between the companies they send out isn’t there, so then, whatever the problem is from company number one, doesn’t get passed on to company number two. There’s an extreme waste of my time because I take a day off of work to sit here for four hours for someone to show up. It is a very big deal to have someone come to my house to fix something. And for them to send somebody that doesn’t know what befell the person before was talking about, it’s ridiculous. On the other hand, from a financial standpoint, AHS is reasonable and have nice people. However, the communication between the companies they send out needs to improve.
Hello, Jennifer. I am so sorry that you have been dealing with this issue for this amount of time. I agree the communication between AHS and our contractors can stand some major improvements. We will have a Social Media Specialist contact you directly.

The faucets would not stop leaking on the shower heads and it was hard to push them back in. I went online, submitted a claim to American Home Shield and my experience was nice. There had been quick responses in communicating from the home office to the provider. It has been speedy. The tech who came over was wonderful. He was friendly and professional. He was in and out and did what he needed to do. I'd recommend American Home Shield to others.

We had a dishwasher that was extra noisy. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield online and it was very easy navigating through their website. The technician was out in two days and he was excellent. He was thorough, detailed and helpful. The dishwasher was back to normal since then. It was our first time using AHS and the process was easy and our problem was solved. AHS is valuable. It saves us time from having to get through recommendations or finding a reputable repairman.

I had a dishwasher leak and I called American Home Shield. A contractor came out and fixed it. The unit has been performing well since the repair without any issues. When it comes to little repairs, American Home Shield will take care of it but when we have major issues, they don’t seem to want to do that. They would not do anything about an air-conditioning that was falling apart and I ended up having to replace it.
It got to a point where the repairmen came and that it had to be replaced but the company insisted no and it had to be continued to be repaired, which was becoming extremely costly to me on monthly basis, as long as I was paying the cost every other month to keep it running. They considered it to be running and they didn’t care and they paid whatever they had to pay for that particular repair at the time.
I still keep them in the hopes that if I have an issue, they may try to repair it in the future although I can’t count on that. I don’t see them to be reliable based on the experience that I had recently with my air-conditioning unit. Overall, I’m not thrilled with American Home Shield. I bought that for the purpose of getting this big stuff done that I can’t handle but they don’t pay for it. They would only take care of the stuff that’s small that I can handle.
Hello, Bassan. I am glad to hear that you were able to get the dishwasher issue taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Your A/C is another story, my apologies for any services you received that did not lead you to believe AHS would take care of your requests. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield for a leaking faucet in one of our outdoor water bibbs. I did an online submission and then they set up everything. It went smooth as far as signing up on there. Then the plumber contacted me and set up the time that was convenient. It took him about 30 minutes to fix it and then the faucet's been working great since. I've been really happy with the services that I've gotten so far and the individuals that came out to my house. I had a locksmith come out and did a re-keying. That company was great and it was actually the owner that came out to do it. I recommended AHS to friends that needed those services and to people buying a new house especially if they're busy like me. I might know how to do a lot of those repairs, but I just don't have the time to.

I contacted American Home Shield about an issue with, first the microwave and then the dishwasher. They were malfunctioning so I put in a request. That was $100 per request and that was fine but they were able to group those issues into one single request which was pretty nice. I'm a big fan. But other than that, I have nothing good to say.
The downside was the request took three months to complete which was very unsettling because I have tenants in this house and they highly require at least the dishwasher is working. So the contractor that AHS hired to do the work was pretty poor and anytime I tried calling and getting a hold of American Home Shield, I’d be put in an hour plus wait. And that has happened about nine out of ten times. It's quite defeating when you're trying to get stuff done and you're listening to a hold music for an hour at the minimum. The longest I waited was an hour and 45. I talked to AHS about the length of time that it was taking for the contractor they hired to make the repairs and they said they’ll look into it, but I never heard anything back. I tried getting ahold of the contract company who’s making the repairs and they said they’ll look into it and get back to me. That never happened either.
I’ve been considering a few of my other options already because I’m worried. What if something else breaks or one of the furnaces, the AC, or even the water heater busts at extreme temperatures? I can't let the tenants go for three months without a repair. That’s not cool for anybody. I know it’s taking some time. I went online about a week ago and the reports there are very disturbing. AHS's rates are very reasonable and I’m very pro home warranty, but tread carefully with American Home Shield. I will not recommend them.
I understand your concerns with the hold times your have endured as well as the customer service you have experienced to have the dishwasher repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and reach a resolution for the issues.

We submitted our first claim with AHS, which was related to the mold smell in my bathroom back in mid-October, and Service Express was assigned to us. Their guy came out within a week and he was unable to find the problem with the mold smell. There was also a dripping faucet which was never adjusted and he said he would fix the dripping faucet but it turned out that when we followed up with them they closed the claim instead of following up on it. So we asked them to re-open it because of the faucet and also because the mold smell was continuing.
Since all of the piping and sink looked to be okay, the contractor said it might be behind the wall but they wouldn't open up the wall. So we went ahead and open up the wall for them just so they can take a look back there and hoped that they had tools and machines that, perhaps, they could look back in to see if there were any molds, however, they didn't look. So we borrowed a stick with a camera from our friend and we found tons of old mold. But since we're not plumbers or technicians we were unable to figure out what was the source of it. We were hoping it would be enough that they would still come out and figure out the source of the issue.
My husband called Service Express directly quite a few time to follow up, but they were unresponsive. We were able to get a different company assigned to us through AHS a few weeks ago. They came out, took a look and also said that they weren't sure where the smell was coming from, so they couldn't help us with it. That made me a bit angry because now, we have a moldy smell in our bathroom that we can't do anything about. We are not going to renew the warranty when it expires next month. The warranty wasn't much of a huge help. We still have this ongoing problem that we're going to need to pay for out of our own pocket. But we both believe our home warranty should've taken care of it. So it's just one of those that we do it ourselves. We can choose our own contractor and it might be easier.
Hi, Laurie. I understand that your issues were not resolved through our contractors. There was definitely a need for you to have been informed of your coverage. The warranty would not have removed any mold, nor would we "look" for mold. Our policy is for mechanical failures or malfunctions. A Social Media Specialist will contact you to further assist.

American Home Shield has been great. We've lived here for quite a while, but this year has been a nightmare. The water heater blew up, the dishwasher broke down, and there were problems with the electricity and the garage door opener. But every single solitary contractor have been above and beyond fantastic and fast. They responded quickly, got the job done and fixed things before they became a problem.
Our recent experience was when something that was put in the dishwasher had broken off, had gone into the motor and froze up. The tech cleaned it out, pulled the little broken piece out of the motor and it worked fine. However last August, our AC went out in Arizona. I called and I was put on hold for two hours. It was absolutely miserable trying to get a hold of them. It went on and on and I got passed around.
Then I noticed that I could go online to submit a claim. So every time I've needed them since then, I went online because within 10 minutes, a representative would call and set up an appointment. With the water heater, the contractor called within 30 minutes and said, “We got a notice from your home warranty to set up and appointment with you.” Within a few hours, they were out here and got the job done. Then with the garage door opener, the guy came out within an hour. So other than the phone problem, I would tell a friend that American Home Shield is reasonably priced and quick to respond with fantastic contractors.

I made a claim for an issue with my plumbing. I went online to do that and it was an easy process. I clicked the service I needed and hit submit. It was easy to navigate their site and it wasn't confusing at all. They assigned All-Pro Plumbing to me and they called me very quickly. However, on the day that the contractor was supposed to come and take a look at the issue, they had to reschedule. He didn't have the appropriate equipment that day because it was being used on another job. It was an issue for us because we had limited use of the bathroom. But he came the next day, cleaned the sewer line and got the issue fixed.
We've also submitted claims for our fridge and dishwasher and the people they sent out also fixed the issues. However, it took them a month to get the part for the refrigerator but they got it fixed and it now works great. AHS is well worth the price that we paid being able to have people come out and fix things in a timely manner.

But it makes life a lot easier that I can push a button and my garage door will open. The online claim submission was good. I'm not very computer literate and I didn't have a problem with it. I have no problem with the people that came out too. The contractor was very informative and extremely professional. I was with him the whole time. I’ve always had a good relationship with American Home Shield. It was just getting to where it was way too expensive for me to continue keeping them for my insurance coverage.

We finally got a hot summer here in Louisiana, and when I turned on our AC, it wasn't cooling. We looked at it and there was frost on it. We turned it off and I got on the internet and logged in to my account and put in my AC information. The AC people called me and said they’d be here at a certain time. I couldn't do it that day and I asked if they could come on a different day because I got work. And they worked with me on that date.
When the contractor came, he checked the inside and he asked me to check the outside. He said it looked like I was a little low on Freon. He tightened up the nozzle, which evidently had a very tiny leak in it. He fixed it, he came inside and made sure the AC works. He sat there for few minutes to make sure it continued to work and it wasn't frosting up. And then, he got the paperwork done, sat there and talked with me for a half second being nice, and then left. I liked the contractor. This AC claim did a whole lot better than the first one for our refrigerator that was freezing up. Literally, I had a freezer instead of a refrigerator. We put in a claim and the contractor came out and checked it. He said that I needed a part, got my account checked and left, and I heard nothing more. And it was the week before Thanksgiving, so I gave it that week and the next week. And then, I gave it one more week.
I finally called them and asked what was going on. And they said they didn't have the claim because it was dismissed. I told them that I have heard nothing from anybody yet and wished somebody had told. I would have gone out and bought a new fridge. And then, about three days later, I got online and said that I still had no contact from them about why it was closed or anything else such as sending me a quick email saying that it was closed. And it was after I had talked to the repair company so I was not impressed. It was over Thanksgiving and I didn't even have milk for my coffee that entire three weeks. But now that they fixed my air conditioner, I like them. I would tell my friends not to wait three weeks before they get any response from them. If they don't respond back in a week, they should get a hold of them.

There is an ongoing plumbing problem at my house. Mostly the kitchen and the washer area clogs and I have to tell American Home Shield to come and drain it out every two or three months. It just keeps occurring. This last time I had somebody come out and he decided he couldn't fix it after spending about 10 minutes then gave a "thank you for your $75." He said he would contact American Home Shield and tell them that he wasn't capable of doing what was needed and somebody else would have to come out. He didn't really want to get his hands dirty at all so he just left. I've had these people out before for other things. That one was a surprise because I had already waited almost a week for them to be able to come out. In the meantime, I couldn't wash clothes and do dishes. I couldn't drain and everything was complicated.
After five days of waiting, I had to start all over again and get somebody out to actually drain it. So far it has been doing good but he indicated there was an issue somewhere under the house. Basically, it was two weeks before I actually got my plumbing fixed and it’s not great. American Home Shield itself is fine but sometimes it is very hard to get in touch if I had to call. It's like pulling teeth back if I'm going to be able to reach anybody. Also, I’ve been with them for a long time and my house is getting older, so I feel like I need to have someone but they don't cover much sometimes.

I called AHS and told them what was wrong with my dryer. The problem I had was that the people who were going to come and fix it were supposed to contact me within 24 hours but they didn’t. I had to get them back on the phone and hold on the line for them and tell them that I haven't heard anything yet. The contractor called me eventually and he came right out. Apparently, there were two things that were causing the dryer to let out cold air. He replaced both of them and then he left.
However, the light went out and he didn't fix it nor told me about it. Also, the thing where the lint goes came off, but he told me that they didn't do it. Now I have to find somebody to do that because he said they don’t fix that. I thought that AHS would have whatever was wrong fixed, but they only got the two things replaced. And I was disappointed with that because they're $46.99 a month. Because of that, I've decided that when the term is up for this year, I'm not going to renew my contract with them. I’m going to go somewhere else and will not recommend AHS.

American Home Shield sent a guy from One Hour Heating to take a look at my heater and said it had a leak. He took my stuff apart, left it and said he was ordering parts. But two weeks went by and nothing happened. I called him back and couldn't get a hold of him. I called American Home Shield a few times and told them to make a matter of record on what I was going through and they did that. Finally, this company got blacklisted and they’re no longer representing American Home Shield.
By the time I called American Home Shield and they sent another contractor out, I also called One Hour Heating and told them if somebody didn’t get back to me, then I was going to call the ConsumerAffairs hotline and let them deal with them. So I finally got a hold of some of the top leadership in there and told them what I went through. But I canceled their stuff.
American Home Shield sent down another technician from another company who said it wasn’t a leak and nothing was wrong. He was excellent and everything was checked out fine. I also called American Home Shield to see if I can recoup the money that I spent when I had One Hour Heating come out and finish up the work. I even ordered the parts myself to try to get my unit back up because I was so long without AC in my house. And that was a horrible experience. I still didn’t get my refund from them. American Home Shield rebounded it with the gentleman who came out and did an excellent job. He has his own business and he’s local, too. I’m going to recommend American Home Shield. The representatives I've spoken on the phone were very great people as well.

Three weeks ago, American Home Shield came out to troubleshoot the thermostat and ended up replacing it for one of my units. I submitted the claim online but I’d rather talk to somebody. The contractor was very punctual. I suggested it might be a thermostat problem because the read out of it was not real stable. I’d push a button and it would blink on and off and couldn’t get the unit to come on. He agreed with me and went right to the problem.
I also had American Home Shield over a couple of times working on units and sometimes it got real hectic because it seemed like every time I called them, I was getting a new person. They've got hundreds of people and one of the techs I got had his headquarters out of Florida while the last one I called was from a headquarters out of Kentucky, but they have small offices here in town. So, it would be nice if American Home Shield would have some continuity in the people that were coming to serve my house. But the ones they sent out seemed to be technically oriented in what they were doing and they didn’t leave until the job was done. Other than that, I had an excellent experience with them and I recommended American Home Shield to people for years. They used to give you a small monetary reward for bringing somebody in but they don’t do that anymore.

I had my home microwave oven go down. I couldn’t get a hold of AHS even though I was directed to contact the replacement division of AHS. I didn’t have time to spend one, two, or three hours on the phone, which I did more than on one occasion. They finally sent a notice from the manufacturer that they were replacing it and I had to follow the step. And after a frustrating two days, we finally got through and in 10 days, my microwave was replaced, which was way too long.
Recently, American Home Shield replaced a refrigerator on a rental property I have. The new refrigerator sounded like a freight train and I went over to experience it myself. The technician didn’t stay to listen to the machine and it began making a loud motor noise immediately after it was installed. When I went in to follow the procedures on how to contact AHS, I couldn’t get through on the telephone again. It had the same lame recording it had for three months, that the phone system was backed up, heavy volume, “we're working on it”, etc.
I was later told by the rep from AHS that all I had to do was call the manufacturer because it was a new product. I said to them that had there been a link or some notification on their website, I would have seen that and this whole thing would have been avoided. So, when I went to social media after days of frustration in trying to call, within a minute or two when I went on Facebook, we got an automated response saying that I needed to get a hold of the new appliance dealer, which is GE.
A day later, the regional manager for AHS who lives in Reno, Nevada where the problem was happening called me directly and explained the same thing I had read on social media. I pointed out to her that it was nowhere on their website that it was all I had to do. After all these years, it was the first time I had to deal with a new product that wasn’t working and after hearing the explanation well, it made sense. She was very nice and she gave me her email address and said that I had to call GE because the refrigerator was a new product and it was out of their hands. She also said that they have been working on the phone problem for months and they hired thousands of people to answer the phone.
American Home Shield took care of the problem, but it was a very simple fix that no one was listening to because they couldn’t hear me. Nothing was done until that point in time when I contacted social media out of frustration. I'm very dissatisfied with American Home Shield. If they’ve gotten too big for their britches, then they should get out of the game. But I'm satisfied that social media rang the bell to the representative regionally who responded quickly and resolved the issue. I still have American Home Shield for our main home but I'm dropping it on the last rental that I have resolved it since it's closing at the end of the month.
I enjoyed reading your review and I am pleased to hear that we have been able to fulfill each service requests. I appreciate the kind words and would like to thank you for being a customer of AHS!

He also said that a whole line of roof tiles and the one above it needed to be taken off and he wanted to charge me $2650.
The second guy was great. When he came in, he shook my hand immediately. He took pictures of everything and said we have one roof truss and three tiles that were broken. He charged me $975 for that. We had the roofing inspected and found that the first guy was just lying. I told American Home Shield about the first person and they said that they were very sorry that it had happened and that they would be sure that it was recorded.

Submitting my claim with American Home Shield was interesting. It's way easier to do it online than it is to try and call. I've had issues each time I tried calling. After submitting, you'd normally get a phone call from whoever is assigned within a certain amount of time. However, I wish they had more options because they don't allow you to break it down too much and give more details. It would be up to the contractor to call and ask what the issue is exactly. We've used American Home Shield twice now and we've gotten the same good guys. Mostly, they were able to get the job done on the first visit, but sometimes they had to order parts.
With the first claim, the contractor had to check the pipe out. Afterwards, there was an approval process from American Home Shield. We have a big cast iron drainage pipe in the basement and there was a big crack in it. They said it would be way easier to cut it and rerun a PVC from the first storey toilet down and do that whole thing in PVC. But they've only gotten approval for just the cracked section. I have the cast iron being supported by PVC and two rubber pipe clamps now. The repair has been good and we haven't had any leaks from what they did.
With our last one, the pipe had the little pinhole. You can see the actual pinhole and it was putting out such a fine mist. It was hidden in this flock of wood that was near a chimney so I didn't know if the roof was leaking or if this was a plumbing issue. AHS doesn't have a way for you to choose multiple stuff and then they have you pay by the contractor that comes out. If you had to choose an electrician to come out, you had to pay $75. And then if it's something related where you need both electrician and plumber, then it would be 75 bucks for the plumber and 75 bucks for the electrician.

We had a problem with the heating system and it was blowing cold air. Submitting the claim was very easy. I just called American Home Shield and I had an option of paying upfront or paying when the gentleman came, and I took the option of billing it directly to my credit card. Previously, I had to pay the vendor the service fee, but I think it's better that I pay American Home Shield so there's no confusion. The contractor told us when they were going to come and the gentleman called when he was on his way. And when they came in, they showed their ID. The gentleman and my husband went outside then they came back and took care whatever the issue was and the heating system has been working fine since then. And they said if we had any other issue to give them a callback. They were very nice and friendly. American Home Shield seemed to be very responsive to the issue and I’d recommend them.
We appreciate you taking time to share your experience Linda. We look forward to providing you with excellent service.

Having a home warranty is absolutely invaluable. Everything breaks down and this is the best way to ensure that I don't have to come out of pocket with a tremendous amount of money. Recently, I made a claim with American Home Shield for my air conditioner. I submitted it online and it was incredibly easy to navigate their website. The technician they sent out was here in two days. He was fabulous, very professional and efficient. He had to order a part and was scheduled to come back three days later to put it in and everything has been working great since then.

I just bought a house and I have the one year home warranty with American Home Shield. I have been having issues with my garage door opener since I bought the house so I submitted my first claim over the phone and it seemed to be easy. I told them about the garage door opener and they said that they'd send a technician out. But they sent an electrician out, not a garage door opener repair person. He did his thing and figured out the issue is above him because he was not a repair guy for garage doors. He wrote what was wrong and left. Now, I received an email from AHS stating that they have a garage door repair person coming next week to look at it. Do your research on different warranty companies.
I understand your concerns with your most recent work order to have your garage door repaired and the delay in service. I would be glad to speak with you in regard to your experience.

The mechanism on my refrigerator that releases the ice would stop working. The ice would always jam up in the ice bin. I had a refrigerator, not an ice maker. I submitted a claim with AHS online and it was easy to do and convenient, too. The first guy that came out came out twice because we had to do a recall. The ice feature on the refrigerator quit working after he fixed it. He told me pretty much when he came out the second time that it was a manufacturer's defect, that they don’t recognize it as such and I just pretty much have to live with it. We also couldn’t even make the ice bin fit into the mechanism so, the ice bin was almost kind of free-floating. It’s kind of scary, especially since it’s in the door. If we open the door, it’s there and it slips. And then, that’s when it was worse off than it was before because that was when the ice didn’t set back in. Now, I didn’t even have a receptacle that was even good for the ice to fall down into.
It stopped working again so, I called, spoke with someone and they were going to send him back out again. The person I talked to was good to work with and I told her that I didn't want that guy to come back. She sent out a Sears repairman and I can’t say how great he was. He wanted to take his time and he fixed it. He also told me how to prevent the problem from happening again because it was kind of a recurring thing. The first guy seemed nice the first time but the second time, I got the impression he was just blowing us off by then. He wanted to move on and he said to call it a day. It was still frozen and he left it and said to let it defrost completely for two hours. He wanted to get out of there, but he wasn’t rude. I’ve had American Home Shield before in the past and I told myself I’d never do it again because I really had a couple of really bad experiences years before. Other than that, I have recommended AHS to other people because it has been a good experience.

My furnace wasn't working. I called in and American Home Shield sent out a company to fix or replace it. They said that my existing unit was too old and it was determined that it had to be replaced. My unit was a brand machine, of high quality, and lasted for many years. But the replacement I got was something that was going to break in a few years. Also, my air conditioning was working in good status but they ended up replacing that together with the furnace just to be on code for the city. I'm not too sure if they were being truthful on that but they sold me a huge system which got me into a big debt. So, I paid a lot of money out of pocket for something that I thought was protected and I wasn’t too happy with the whole thing. I have had a number of American Home Shield claims recently and all of them have ultimately been resolved. AHS, however, has gone from hard to get through to impossible to get through. I was on hold for 45 minutes. Then, there were repeated mistakes. For example, I specified that I need to have a gas stove repaired. I had to wait two weeks because the repair person that they assigned to me did not call to set up an appointment right away. And then, he came only to say, "I do not repair gas stoves." Then, I have to go back into another process. So, although, American Home Shield saves me money in terms of the repair eventually being covered, they have gone from being a useful service to extremely aggravating because of the lack of phone support, attention to detail, and the extreme hold times.
But some of the issues could have been because of the vendors. For example, a vendor said, "Well, there's an issue here. American Home Shield will contact you." Then, they contacted AHS after two weeks. AHS then contacted me and said, "The vendor never told us to contact you." Now, to me, the ultimate responsibility still lies with American Home Shield because if they are not having their vendors follow through on what they are saying to the customer and having the customer waiting, the problem is still with their overall service delivery. I would not recommend Home Shield to anybody else. If there are other companies providing the same service, I would recommend you go with the other company. The aggravation is too great.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

American Home Shield was great for the first year as we didn’t have to pay for it because we just bought our house and it was included in our sale. But, as far as renewing, I'm not convinced that it is something that we need to pay for. We tried to file three claims with them. We tried to call them but we couldn't talk to anybody to schedule the service and could only do it online. They have a list of contractors that when you go to their website and you click on a plumber then a plumber would call you. That part worked and they were great at scheduling, but with fixing things, that didn't work that well.
Also, their techs were not so fantastic. With the two other claims we've filed with AHS, we've paid $75 both times yet none of the issues have been fixed. The first claim was for our fridge which was making a funny noise, our washing machine that was unbalanced and the dishwasher that was leaking. The guy fixed the dishwasher. He also got a new fan for the fridge but it still makes noise and then the washing machine is still making noise as well.
The other claim was for a leaky faucet in the bathroom and we were getting some sediment in our water, so we thought it might be from the hot water heater. The contractors fixed the faucet except that they fixed it so good that the water didn't come out at all. We had to call them back and they had to come out the next day to fix the faucet but it was leaking again. We were given a new hot water heater but now we have even more sediment in our water. It was a mess. I called the first time and I got through and then the other time we tried to call, it was just the recording thing for the website.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

My heat pump was acting up. I submitted a claim online and then a representative from the contractor called me. The Comfort Service came and took a look at it. I've been getting good service but it took them a few trips to actually find what the problem was. It was a bad water somewhere in the well. Even so, I'm very satisfied with the contractor. He's a whole lot better than the one they sent me before. They sent me a contractor called GSSN in the past and their services were very poor. I would recommend this gentleman to anybody.
I also like the promptness that they got in touch with me and made the appointment. It didn't take them long. The one contractor before came and looked at it, but took him two weeks to fix it and it's a pretty simple part. Even though this new guy had to come back a couple of different times because it kept blowing a fuse and he had a little trouble pinpointing what was causing it, he came back in a timely manner.
The heat pump worked just fine since the repair. It didn't work better because it's about 10 years old. It's not going to be at its peak performance, but it's still serving the purpose. Also, in the past, I did a work order and they assigned it to another company. I just wish American Home Shield would let you have input on who they awarded the work order to because I wasn't satisfied with the one I had before. Even though they fixed it, it took them two to three weeks to fix something. They should've had the part on the truck that day or a day or two later.
Nowadays, when you get things overnight, it wasn't a part that was unique or anything that would take a special order. It's something they should've had and it took two weeks to fix the air conditioner in a 95-degree weather. If American Home Shield got a contractor who's not giving very good service, they ought to cut to ties with that contractor.
Also, they ought to give the customer some more flexibility. In other words, if you cannot find a contractor in your area, you should be able to go and get a contractor who's not signed up with them to do you work without going through all this extra stuff that they make you do. They make you expedite an order or something so they can okay it upfront and stuff. When you call in to speak to somebody and when they put you on hold, it takes you two hours to talk to somebody and that really pisses me off. Even so, I would recommend Home Comfort Service to anybody. I would tell a friend that I've had good experiences with them but not every time. There has been a couple of times that I would think they should do things a little differently than what they've done or followed up.

My issues have been resolved by American Home Shield in a timely manner. There's just one that is taking quite a while. They're going to get back to me when they have a resolution and I also have three different requests that I'm still waiting to hear on. But it's been a week since I've talked to them and I haven't heard from them.
They also need to do better as far as answering the call volume. I'd rather talk to somebody and I submit claims over the phone. But one time, the wait was an hour and 20 minutes. And that happens all the time. They're always tricky. I have to wait, no matter what time or day it is. But once I get somebody, the service is good and the reps are courteous.
Also, for the first call with my water heater problem a while back, the technician was out of California and he had to come out a couple of times. He had to replace the thermostat and then there was something else. Finally I said, "Did you get it fixed this time?" He said yes and that he was tired of coming out here. And I said to him, "Excuse me. If you had fixed it right the first time, this wouldn't have happened." So I called to report him and then found out that he was the owner of the business. I have a couple of friends that have American Home Shield's warranty program and they had told me about it. The only claim we've ever had was the one with the filter on the pool. I submitted the claim over the phone and they went ahead and got back with us. The contractor came out in the beginning, looked at it and saw what they were going to need. My husband talked with the tech and he told my husband what he's going to do. It had to have a new filter and the tech also said that we're going to need a new pump soon. He said he has to replumb some of it some way too.
The tech got the part and he and his wife came out but he went back to town, got more pipes and came back. It had a two-inch pipe and they brought it down to about 3/4 inch because they didn't have the right fittings and they didn't want to go back to town again. The tech is not healthy as he has a colostomy bag and he had been here for hours and hours. My husband saw that he was really struggling. The tech didn't check for leaks when he left. My husband was watching and he saw that it had three leaks so the next day, he got the bigger pipe. It wouldn't pull because it wasn't getting enough pressure so my husband replumbed it himself and all three leaks were fixed. Nonetheless, we were very satisfied with American Home Shield. I’m a realtor and my company deals with American Home Shield, so I have signed up with them on my home and my condo. But, I probably won’t renew with them. You have to pay $75 every time for a service call and they’re also starting to exclude too much stuff now that they didn’t exclude 10 years ago. Home Check, which I had before, was better, but they got too pricey. But then, American Home Shield went from $50 to $75 per service call and they would make you pay for the actual policy for the year. With Home Check, they had no service fee and you would pay one flat fee a year.
Getting through American Home Shield on the phone to set up an appointment is hard. They always say their lines are too busy and you have to do it online, or you won’t get through and then you have to wait. Then you will get either an email or a phone call from whoever they will be sending out. AHS doesn’t set it up for you and they’re not doing any work. You’re paying the $75 and they will give you the name and that’s it. Then you have to wait for the contractor to call you, or you have to contact them to set up the schedule. It’s a lot of work. And they’re way overboard on the exclusions for plumbing, air conditioning, appliances and, everything. A lot of the agents at our office are no longer pushing them.
I didn't want to pay the $75 each time because I had been paying every month for my two policies on my home and condo. And it’s too much paperwork and too many receipts to keep tracking for taxes. When the contractor that AHS sent out before had to come three times for the same problem, they were threatening me with the policy and saying that I would be charged if they had to keep coming. Though I told that them it was for the same issue, I had to check my credit card to make sure they were not charging me the $75 again. AHS is a huge company and they're nice and pleasant, but the service fees are a turn-off and they should get rid of them. Other than that, I like them and I’m glad I have a home warranty.

AHS then called within five hours and let me know that they weren't going to cover it. Essentially our call will ask if something that I was told when I re-up my coverage will be covered and I'm usually told that it won't be. They also wouldn't replace until a unit fails. I have a breaker panel which many people have told me will fail very soon and they won't replace it. I ended my American Home Shield because my issue couldn't be covered.
I understand that you have canceled your AHS contract due to the lack of coverage you have experienced to have the outside leak repaired. I would be glad to speak with you and follow up with the issues that occurred.

I've had American Home Shield since February when I closed on this condo. I just moved in and I've already had to call them twice. Their customer service seems to be really good. They want to take care of you and give you a good experience. When I called in for a heating issue, the representative took care of it and our interaction was very short. I was contacted within a day or two and the man sent out was very pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and took his time to figure out what the problem was. It ended up being the thermostat not working properly and he said that the wiring wasn’t right. He had to move some wires around and he did a good job.

Besides being on hold for two hours before anybody answers, American Home Shield's claims reps were pleasant. When our heat pump went out, it took the service guy two weeks to get out here and it was in the middle of 0 degrees. And it was the worst experience we've had. I was at my wit's end and nobody really seemed to care. Also, the contractor came and he seemed rude and not personable. But the repair has been fine.
Hello, Kimberly. I agree, two weeks is too long to be without heat during the winter months. I am so sorry that you had to wait for that work order to be resolved. A Social Media Specialist will be in contact with you.

It was fair enough and fast. The interactions with the contractor were very professional and he explained everything. Everything is doing fine now since the repair. Having a home warranty is very important especially when the husband is not very handy in doing things at home. I will surely recommend AHS to others.

With AHS, you can never just talk to a person. You talk to the machine. You tell them what's going on and they send somebody out. I was hesitant to call them because one of my previous experiences was so bad. But I had to get the upstairs bathtub, my kitchen sink, and the plumbing in my powder room downstairs fixed so I called them and they sent somebody out. They were courteous, did the job, and took the money out of my account. They were also courteous and professional. I had another tech come out for my thermostat. They were courteous and professional, too. But I had to wait over the weekend because I called them on a Friday and they came right out, but they didn’t have the thermostat. It's working better now. I would tell others that American Home Shield seems to be okay but they should not pay the money to their agents that come out because that was where my bad experience was.

Our dishwasher was leaking from the front, so I used my American Home Shield insurance to get that taken care of. I'm at work the whole day and I filed the claim online on my lunch break, which was a lot easier. The system tells me to click on the “click here”, type in what I need, the model of the dishwasher, and a time was set up. The guy who came did a really good job. There was some food stuck in the front and he wiped it and got it going. We also had a buildup in one of the pipes that went down to the drain and he took care of that, too. The dishwasher is working well now. Everything was great. AHS is really good to have because it’s convenient. I don’t have to stress, and if I don’t have it, then I got to pay big money to replace the parts or the appliance.

The garbage disposal had some issues when my wife was cleaning up. She tried to blend a little too much and it ended up burning out. I submitted a claim for it through American Home Shield’s online portal and it was painless. The first time I submitted it, the company it was assigned to never reached out to me. But the second time, the company reached out to me immediately. Then, it was fixed in a day. They even took the time to explain to my wife what happened and how we could fix it in the future. The few times I've had to reach out to AHS, it has been solid. It's solid for everyone to have around. I would recommend this company.

When I was using my heater I heard a noise and it went like, "Boom!" Everything went well when I made a claim to American Home Shield. They asked me what was wrong and what I needed service on. I told them about it and they sent somebody out. The technician said the blower fan had loosened up. He tightened it up and fixed it. Then I also had him do a tune-up but I had to pay him myself for that. The heater seems to be working well now. Before I was afraid to turn the heater on because I didn’t know what was going on after I heard that noise a couple of times. I decided to just turn it off so for about a week, I was without heat. It was a little cold at night but it was okay during the day.
I’ve had to have American Home Shield service for quite a number of years and this was not a new service for me. And even when I was in my other house before I moved to where I am now, I had it for quite a few years. But whenever I’ve had to use it they’ve always fixed the problem so I can’t ask for any more than that and I would recommend it to other friends and family. I would tell them that whenever service was requested AHS fulfilled that. I always just call and the problem is solved. I’ve always been satisfied with it and I haven't had any other insurance for these types of problems other than AHS.

I saw some water leaking out by my front door. I figured out that it was probably coming from the water spigot that comes from the outside of the house. When I first submitted the claim to American Home Shield, I got an email the next day that Brother Plumbing was going to show up. It was on a Thursday and the contractor didn’t show up to my house until Tuesday. And when he did, he pretty much just looked in and said that he wasn't going to do it. His exact words were “I’m too old to be digging through a concrete.” That ended up not having to be done but he didn’t take the time to inspect it further. He said that he was going to contact AHS and let them know that he wasn't doing the job and AHS would send somebody else. So on Friday, I called the guy because I haven’t heard anything. I had his cell number because he called me when he was going to come in the house.
I called and asked him if he had let AHS know that he wasn't going to fix my problem, and he said he didn't have the time to get in touch with them. I told him that AHS wouldn't send somebody else out until he told them that he wasn't doing it, and he said he knew. Then three days later, on a Sunday afternoon, I got an email from AHS saying that they were sending Double R Plumbing. The contractor called me the next day and said that they could meet me at my house the next morning or afternoon between 12 and 3, and I said okay. The next morning, they called me at about 10 and said that they were kind of ahead of schedule and they asked if we could meet at that time instead. I agreed and so I went to the house and they showed up, and within an hour, they had me fixed and back to normal. I was very impressed with Double R Plumbing. Overall, submitting a claim to American Home Shield was a good experience.

When we bought our house a little over a year ago, our realtor suggested American Home Shield. When we had a light that didn't work, I put in a claim and submitting it online was fairly easy. The only time I didn't like using their online service was when I have a particular company that I'd like to answer the service call and it was invisible to me who American Home Shield is going to assign. Like for our pool, we found a particular company who worked well and we wanted them to make sure that they repeat. I called AHS before, but the wait times were bad, although it was understandable. The only time I've needed to call American Home Shield was because of plumbing issues. The reps were always very polite and personable when I call. The very first one that I spoke to that lived in Georgia was very familiar with the area that I live in because she used to come visit here when she was a kid. It started with my toilet in the main bathroom. The guts inside the toilet have been changed a couple of time and came down to a sediment problem in the pipes. There was also a leak that sprung inside the wall and they acted at the call very quickly. A person came out the next day and changed the pipe. American Home Shield has always been great about their service.
Some of the local plumbers here in Beaufort don't have a good reputation and American Home Shield didn't use them. The plumbing company American Home Shield sent was located a few miles away from here. They're called High Priority Plumbing and they're based on Hilton Head, South Carolina. They showed up around 9 o'clock in the morning each time. They always give me a phone call 10 minutes before they arrive. They're knowledgeable. I even let them go ahead and change the plumbing in the house because it was causing the sediment problem. The copper pipes spring leaks when they had too much sediment in them, spinning around in the pipes. The pipes were old and very thin so that was a good call.
All the plumbing was changed just last Thursday. They even changed the guts in the main toilet again because they were full of sediment again. It was usually that the toilet would overflow again from the tank because the floater gets the sediment problem and it doesn't float up. There was no problem since then. I would tell a friend that if they get the chance to get a warranty with American Home Shield they should go and take the warranty.

I had a dryer that wasn’t working at all, and I had it repaired. Submitting the claim to American Home Shield was fine. It was everything else that was problematic. I submitted the claim on November 27th, and someone came out to my house for service on December 7th. The contracting company who came out said that they had to order certain parts for the dryer to be operable again, and they submitted that paperwork to American Home Shield, who then called me on the 14th offering me a reimbursement if I chose to purchase my own dryer, which the reimbursement was the cost of the repair. I chose to let American Home Shield repair the dryer, and I told them I wanted to order the parts, but they were on back order. The parts were supposed to come in on January 5th, but American Home Shield couldn’t get to the contracting company until January 12th. I could deal with that as it was my option.
However, my dryer wasn’t fixed until February and the contracting company closed out my claim because they hadn’t heard anything back from American Home Shield. I called American Home Shield on the 19th of January, and their customer service was not very good in terms of directing my call. They left me on hold for an hour and after that, I got to someone who was shuffling me around. Then I needed to speak to a manager who told me that they ordered the parts and that the earliest they could be in was on the 21st of January. But it was a lie. And they had scheduled me for an appointment on the 27th of January between 9:00 and 12:00.
On January 27th, the contractor never showed up, the parts were never shipped, and American Home Shield had no idea what was going on, so I was calling the contractor and American Home Shield with no resolve. I then spoke to someone at American Home Shield on the 29th, and they assured me that the parts were delivered to the contractor and then the contractor called and scheduled me for February 3rd. The contractor was great but they can only do the work that they were contracted to do. It was a horrible customer service experience from American Home Shield, and it was very disturbing and disheartening as well. The contractor was timely in coming out and assessing the issue and reporting the issue back to American Home Shield, but American Home Shield dropped the ball.
American Home Shield's dashboard system online is terrible because it doesn’t let you know what the status of the claim is. It said my claim was closed but the work hadn’t been done. There’s no go-between, and nobody follows up with the customers after the fact. Also, their automated service on the phone doesn’t direct you where you need to go because I'm still getting cycled to the same one hour hold time. I understand that the calls are handled in the order that they were received, but if I’m calling about an existing claim and that’s not an option, then I have to wait in the queue with the people who are trying to file claims. There should be a different queue for different situations, and if I got an issue with the parts department, I need to be directed to the parts department, directly from the automated service, or I need to be able to press zero or pound or star, and get directed to a manager.
My first experience with American Home Shield was amazing, but this experience with the dryer has been very off-putting. Even more so, I had a manager follow up with me throughout the process, and I asked her to remove my payment method, and have someone call me to cancel my service. American Home Shield never called, and then I had to wind up going in and paying because I couldn’t cancel the contract properly. They reimbursed me the one month and my service fee, but they should have reimbursed me the three months that I was without a dryer because it was their fault. I don’t matter to them as a customer, and I couldn’t even get feedback from a manager about canceling my account. I wouldn’t recommend American Home Shield.
I understand your concerns with the delay in service that was experienced to have your dryer repaired and the overall customer service experience. I would be glad to speak with you and address the issues that have occurred.

In the claim I submitted with American Home Shield for my air conditioner, the technician came out and he was good, kind, and very courteous, and I liked him. He didn’t mind dealing with an old man asking questions. He told me about the machine, the best thing that he could do with it, and the part that had to be ordered because they didn’t have it in stock. He did what he had to do and he fixed my air conditioner.
Several years ago, I had a run-in with American Home Shield about a different air conditioner that I had. I had my current air conditioner put in after that one. I asked them not to send Aqua Bright because I have had some dubious service from them in the past where they would not give me a receipt, did never turned in my check that I had to have that I had to hassle with American Home Shield. But this time, American Home Shield set in a place where I can go ahead and just pay them and you have to pay the service technician who comes out.
They booked Aqua Bright then Aqua Bright called me and made an appointment. They came out and sent out a really nice young man. I told him I did not want them because of the previous problems and he informed me that the perpetrator of the previous problem no longer worked at the company because he was stealing from them. The guy was very professional. He turned the pump on and off and looked at everything. He found a crack in the top of the pump and said it was what was doing it ‘cause it wasn’t allowing pressure to build. Unfortunately, he didn't have the top of the pump so he had to go back to the shop and get one. It took him half an hour to come back then he replaced it and ran the pump for a while to see how it react. It reacted wonderfully and my pool is clean.

My wife said American Home Shield lets you sleep at night. It lets her sleep at night but not me. We've had American Home Shield for a while and for the first 10 years, every year they went up on the premiums, every year they went up on the house call, and every year they went down on what they covered. Every year they found loopholes not to cover something even though it said that it was covered. They told us that if our refrigerator’s gone, they'll give us something equal to it. That was a lie because we had a stainless-steel refrigerator and a stainless steel washer, but they gave us white.
They told me to get the parts of it and they’ll give it to me outright. They have a warehouse full of them so their price is what they’ll give me. I said that it meant they bought 5,000 of that special washing machine to get that price at 600 when it was a $1,000, and then they give me the buyout of the white one which was cheaper. My wife said they still gave us $650 and I said that was fine, but I’d like to take the contract words for it. I went online and I've read 500 reviews in a row, and not one was good. They know that they have a corporate lawyer and we won't sue them because we’ll lose and we won't get anything. They don't care if it's 5,000 bad reviews in a row. That's just the way they are.
The reps are always rude on the phone and not friendly. I talked to a woman and I said the last five years were 25, 30, and 35 and $50 on my premium had doubled. She said that I have used American Home Shield of about $15,000. That is absolutely none of her business. I pay my premiums and I told her who the heck she was to tell me how much I've used it for. I don't care if I used it for $150,000 worth. That's totally irrelevant and she shouldn't be bringing that up. That was very unprofessional telling me how much I've used it for to justify their increase in the home visit and the increase in the premium. I'm not a big American Home Shield fan and I think they are a rip-off.
They sent me a guy to do a water heater and gave me a bill for $2,108. I would have to pick that out of my pocket because AHS will only give me a $1000 for it. I said I didn’t want to use that guy and AHS told me I had to get three written bids and submit them. Within five days I had three people come over and give me a bid for 940, 880 and 960. I called AHS back and I said I was going to use a different person, but that didn't send up a red flag at all that the guy they sent wanted to charge me more than double the three bids I got. They said nothing and did nothing.
One year later, they sent him again for my faucet and I told the guy to turn around and get out of here. I told AHS that they sent the same company that tried to charge me more than double the three bids last year and I told them I don't ever want that company in my house again. They told me to get three bids and I said, “I have to go through this again?" So, I got three bids and I took one of the guys. If something goes wrong, AHS used to be here in 24 hours but now it's 48 hours and just wish we don't have anything happen on Friday afternoon because we’re in trouble. We used to pay $200 something a year and it’s now $600 a year for our premium. Now, they come to the door at $75, when it used to be $25.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Even one claim they replaced a $25 part in AC but I paid $125, but realized that is the deal to have service. They also said we had a leak in a coil, but they never actually looked to see where the leak was coming from so how do they know?
Another AC unit they serviced stopped working again after 3 weeks. We had a contractor come out for our refrigerator and it's going on 2 weeks now and we still don't have the problem resolved. We have a newborn baby at home, we can't go weeks on end without heat and a refrigerator. We called it in, paid our deductible, and about 3 months later a service repair person contacted us to come out to the house. The visit was completed, they needed parts, they said they would contact us as soon as the parts came in. By this time it was midwinter and we were not needing our air conditioner. This is good because 4 months after that I had to call them back to see if the part was in yet!
This could speak more to the quality of their contractors, but the issues I've had around American Home Shield begin about the time the contractor first visited the house. This is when they started sending me notifications that I had not paid my deductible. I called in to find out about this and they told me they had no record of the payment and if I wanted to prove I paid it I had to gather all my documentation and fax it to a certain number with all of these different registration numbers written on it... I did this.
Months went by, and they are now sending me notifications again that I have not paid this deductible. Again I called customer service, they are very unhelpful! All they can tell me is they have no record of the payment in the system, and it's completely on me if I want to provide any kind of proof, otherwise I owe the money. I tried to speak with a supervisor, I was told there are no supervisors. I said surely someone is in charge of this company. I was eventually told that they could have someone call me back at some point in time, in some kind of supervisor capacity. So, in summary, all we have received from American Home Shield is very slow service, very poor customer service, and a constant money-grubbing attitude.

I called AHS in December 2017 to repair my HVAC system in my home. They assigned the work to a local contractor who came out, inspected the unit and advised they do not service the type of unit in my home. AHS then assigned another contractor located in Florida, my home is located in a rural area in Louisiana. I contacted the second contractor and they advised me they do not service this area. I contacted AHS the third time and they told me to find a local contractor who can do what needs to be done; have the contractor submit an estimate for the work.
I called a local HVAC company and they came and inspected the unit and advised it has to be replace and they submitted an estimate to replace the unit. AHS is refusing to cover the costs of replacement. Their claims rep told me that since they do not have a contractor in this area all they will do is cash me out for $1500 and I have to pay the balance. If they has a contractor they would do all the work. I talked to several HVAC contractors and they advised problem is not their ability to service this area, it is AHS refusal to pay what the services cost in this area. Bottom line, I am now left with a huge repair bill that should be covered. This is very poor service and a breach of contract. I am a Real Estate Agent and I intend to advise every agent I know to keep their customers away from American Home Shield.

I have been a customer of AHS for the past 10 years. In 2016 I had my first service call. My condenser on my A/C unit had to be replaced. There was actually no issue with the transaction portion of the call. It was with the service. The AC repairmen stated that the new condensing unit had to be taken apart to fit through the access of the attic then put back together in the attic. The repairman started taking it apart, took it to the attic and then did not know how to put it back together!! I took over and put the unit back together myself (I have prior A/C experience).
The unit was then installed by the technician. 10 days later I noticed low air flow from my vents and went to the attic to investigate. The condensing unit had separated from the ducting (cooling my attic!!). I properly fixed the unit and have had no issues since. Earlier this year I had my second service call due to a faulty Hot Water Heater. My heater is a 75 Gallon unit, the technician that AHS sent to inspect the unit stated that 75 gallon units were no longer available (Not true, they are readily available), that he was going to put a 50 gallon unit in my home.
The technician actually stated that "the 50 gallon unit won't be enough to heat your water the way the 75 gallon one did but I am going to install a recirculating pump and expansion tank to help it out". He also stated that he had to install these items to "bring it to code". Guess what, all the "extra" bring it to code and make it as close to original installed equipment stuff is not covered under warranty! I contacted AHS and asked if I could get another plumber to come out and diagnose the problem. I even told them I would pay the $75 fee for the service call.
I was told "no" and I had 1 of 2 options. 1. Use the technician they sent out to do the work (which would cost me an additional $1200 and not work as well as my previously installed unit). 2. Receive a "cash out" from AHS. I contacted another local plumber that offered free estimates, he stated that 75 gallon units are available and did not understand why the other plumber needed to put the "extra" equipment in as it was not required. I opted to take the cash out option.
Here is where it gets even worse!! AHS originally wanted to give me $900. The best price I found for a 75 gallon unit was over $1300 and that did not include removal and installation. I contacted AHS and discussed this issue, they said the best price they could offer me would be $1207.00. Wow, that would cover the "extras". I took the $$, purchased a tankless water heater and installed it myself. I just received a letter in the mail from AHS, the letter stated that since I took the cash out option my water heater would not be covered under the warranty. Since this has happened I have conducted my own research from homeowners and real-estate agents. My review has revealed that AHS is notorious for underbidding and underpaying!! Need to find another Home Warranty company!!
I would be glad to speak with you and resolve the issues that you have experienced to have several work orders fulfilled.

I have had American Home Shield for forever. I usually submit my claims with them over the phone and the most recent one I had was for a dishwasher. Submitting the claim was great and the contractor who came out knew how to do everything. He was great. The dishwasher has been doing good since he was here. So, everything in that experience went well. However, my biggest problem with American Home Shield is that they have not sent me the hard copy of my contract yet, which I've asked them five times now to mail me. I don't know my contract number and my husband has memory issues and he doesn't know to go to the computer to get the contract. And my printer is not working. They told me they were going to call me back twice to see if I received it. No phone call back either, which makes me very angry since I've been with this company for a very long time now.
Hi, Linda. I apologize that you have not received the hard copy of your policy. I do see the requests that were made, unfortunately, any mailings are out of our control. We make the requests and hope that the information is being mailed. Sometimes that can take longer than normal. You can access your policy information online at ahs.com.

We have had American Home Shield on one of my rental properties, and our contract with them on this house started last February 1st. It's worth it and we don't have to worry about anything. I call the people up and pay a deductible. We've submitted a claim for a dryer, a stove, and a microwave. Our experiences were all good except for the microwave. The contractors came out a second time because the door was not working. But, other than that, the contractors were pleasant, decent and friendly. A friend of mine also got AHS and he has had it for two years now.

Previously, when I bought the house, I also had Home Shield at that time I had an issue with an appliance. My plumbing has been perfect since the repair. AHS has good service always. It’s great to have a warranty on a property as it's easy and economical.

I had no washer, my oven was not working, and my dishwasher was broken. My husband was at the hospital and everything was broken and going crazy. He is a heart patient and there were things that I needed to bring home and wash and I have to do by hand. It was tough. I'm 72 years old and I have rheumatoid arthritis in my hands, so I needed my appliances back. I called American Home Shield and the rep was very helpful. He was clear and he answered all of our questions. Then, the contractor they sent was quick, knew the appliances and was very good at fixing the units. However, he took a week and a half to get here. It took a few times until I was able to contact him because he only opens from 9:00 to 3:00. The person who answers couldn't give me the specifics on when I'll get a call. I then called AHS' office and they contacted him and then everything was resolved.

My experience with American Home Shield was not very good. The claim was for my boiler water heater. I got myself into this situation because I did not quite understand what kind of heater I had and so the woman who I spoke with was annoyed that I did not know what I had. I knew it was different than the typical furnace but I could not tell her what I had.
I told AHS exactly how I felt, but they defended themselves and still continually put me down. It was one thing for my claim to be denied. However, I do not trust the judgment of this guy who came out to my house. He sounded immature. My grandson was there and told me that the kid said that he did not know very much and that he would have to talk to somebody. I am sorry that American Home Shield had people like that to send out to people like me. I am very dissatisfied. I have two accounts with and I'm thinking about at least canceling one of them. I would never ever recommend them.
Hello, Minnie. I apologize that you have had a bad service experience. I am showing that we approved the replacement of your furnace as well as the replacement of your evaporator coil for the A/C. There were certain modifications that were not covered under the warranty as well as on the A/C side, the warranty covers $10 per pound of the refrigerant and you would be out of pocket the remaining amount. We will have a Social Media Specialist contact you about this situation.

American Home Shield said that our last deal with them was beyond their home warranty, although it wasn’t. It was a plumbing issue and the ones that they sent out to me didn’t work out really well. It was a valve inside of the shower wall and they said that the application was saying it wasn’t covered under home warranty. Nevertheless, I got it straightened up and we’re going to take care of it. We’ve used American Home Shield for quite some time now and over the years, all the representatives and the service people who came out have all been really good and have done good work. Sometimes, when our call is on Friday, they can’t get to us until Monday so we expect that and it’s been good.

I had different things going wrong in our home so I called AHS. However, it was such a pain to get anybody on the phone. That was my biggest complaint. It was horrible. We're moving and the other house has Nations and I prefer them over AHS because they don't have a hold time. With AHS, the standard greeting is, "We're sorry because we have an extremely high call volume" and that should not be it. Also, you're stuck because you already paid half the service. But the electrician they sent was the best electrician we've ever had come out. He came in and addressed everything super quick, and was in and out in less than an hour. We've used AHS off and on for over 20 years now and it helps you rest easy to know that you've got some protection. They also have a variable service fee. I'm really not anticipating to have any issues and I'd rather not pay them the money upfront and just pay a little bit more if something does happen.

I had a leaking toilet recently. This happened on a Thursday night and I was going out of town Monday morning. The pipes had a hairline crack in it and were below the Valvoline, so I had to turn the water off in my entire house. Filing a claim with AHS was fairly simple. Their website is good, and it’s not hard to find your information and submit a claim. I was able to do it from my mobile phone, too.
The contractors that came to my home were awesome, and so was the company. I reached out to them when I got their number early Friday morning, gave them the situation, and they were able to have someone at my house that afternoon. That was a huge plus. Trying to get people to come out and have service get done the same day is a really difficult thing. The two contractors were very personable gentlemen. They explained what was going on, what they were doing, why this type of thing happens, and something that I can do to avoid other challenges that may occur from plumbing. Everything is great since the repair.
Home Shield's service lives up to what the expectations are, and it's great to have. The only thing I would say that’s a little odd and is kind of a pain is that when you set up the claim, you have to give the credit card number upfront. Maybe they experienced some fraud because that’s fairly new and I didn’t have to do that in the past. But other than that, I recommend American Home Shield to people all the time. I've been their customer for 20 years. I’ve needed their service, used it, and it hasn’t let me down yet.

One of the pipes that they were working on broke though and some water went down on my neighbor. But they were really quick to rectify the situation and fix that pipe. I noticed from the basement level that it looked like there might be a leak from the floor above it where the toilet is on the main floor. So, I called AHS and I was surprised by needing to wait for five days for a contractor to come out. Other than that, my experience was great. Their reps were very accurate. Then the contractor said the they'd be here between 8:00 and 12:00, so I scurried to work and then scurried home and waited on them. They called at about 11:45 but the map that told me where they were said they were in Alexandria. I could’ve gone to work for a whole lot longer. But I know that happens and so we just needed to be patient when we’re homeowners.
Two gentlemen came and diagnosed the problem quickly. They felt that it was the seal beneath the toilet, so they caulked it and they were in and out very quickly. They told me to keep an eye from the basement. And I just checked it and so far, it’s holding up and that’s a good thing. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience.

I called American Home Shield because my water heater was leaking and I had it replaced. The service was fine and they did a good job. The contractor company was A Water Solution and they responded in a timely manner. Scott, the gentleman who did the work, was very knowledgeable and took the time to educate me about the process. However, I'm not happy that I had to pay $300 for modifications. That's crazy because part of the insurance should include those. A water heater costs about $500 and it seems like I'm paying $300 for something that if I didn't have the insurance, I would have paid another $200. Meanwhile, I pay $50 something a month. Though I don't like the value I get for my money, I would tell a friend to consider American Home Shield.

It was a good experience and I'm completely satisfied with American Home Shield. The warranty works that's why I continue paying them about $400 a year. I recommend people to get it. I tell them about my experience and that the policy would save them a lot of money. My property is about 12 years old, just the normal lifespan of the washer and dryer as well as their parts. This is the time for them to start breaking down. If I need another washer-dryer or oven, then I have to purchase it, but paying $75 and getting it repaired is great.

We had a water leak in the bathroom area from the upstairs basement into the bottom stairs basement or upstairs bathroom into the downstairs bathroom. Anytime anybody got in the shower upstairs, it would leak down into our bathroom downstairs through the ceiling. The contractor that American Home Shield sent out came and looked at the problem and decided it needed some work because there was a gap in the plumbing. That part got fixed but then we had issues after that too and we couldn’t figure it out. We found out that they had to seal the o-ring and they did that.
And then the third time they came out, we noticed that they didn’t seal the bathtub completely all the way around the edges. So, I could see where the water was coming from basically. The contractor left us a tube of sealant, and I took it and sealed the tub around. We had to wait until it was bone-dry before we put anything, and it’s been great ever since. I wish to God that we end up having coverage for some of our appliances but we don’t. Our oven and our dryer went off and we had to go and pay out of pocket for those. We’re satisfied with American Home Shield.

I started off with American Home Shield last June and it's been terrible. I've had it with multiple houses. It's easy to get ahold of them to sign up, but unless you're going online, which is not going to suit me, it's just been a waste of time. The problem is calling up. It’s taken me up to two hours to get ahold of somebody, so it's been very frustrating and I'm pretty much fed up with them. I had submitted three claims. One was for a fridge which I started getting the repair done in December and it only got fixed completely last week. I made multiple phone calls for this and that was extremely frustrating. I also had a front doorbell repair claim. Someone came by but I've not heard from them since, and I've made up a follow up online. Then the contractors were no good too, except for one guy--he was fine. I've sat at home multiple times and it would've been worthwhile to just pay more money and get my issues taken care of. I'm done with American Home Shield.

I was not happy with the lady who came every time and it was the second or third time that she came since we had the claim with American Home Shield. She came at around 10 and was here until almost 4:30, and for four hours, she was in her truck. Because of that, I was home and she had excused us for everything. She went and then she came back and said that she would be changing the wall to high-pressure or low-pressure wall. I also asked about my other complaint. I said my faucet and the shower in my bathroom were leaking. And since the last time she did it, it was still leaking and my complaint was still there.
She changed some rubber in my bathroom and changed the showerhead we thought was leaking. I said that every time I open the faucet in my bathroom, the water is coming out and since the last time people came from the same company, the rubber bushing around the faucet started to leak again. After almost three hours of having arguments, she said she would talk to American Home Shield. She changed the high-pressure wall and I said I'm going to call American Home Shield and complain because I've been paying almost $800 to $900 per year plus whatever the charge is, but she was not doing the right thing.
However, it takes hours to get the right person at American Home Shield and the line disconnects. They should improve the number when customers are calling for a customer complaint. The number should be all ready and we should get to talk to customer service faster. Still, nothing has been done, except she replaced the low-pressure wall, and everything is the same. American Home Shield is amazing but I will not recommend American Home Shield at all because of that girl.

We had an air conditioning company come out to do the first air conditioner and I paid for refrigerant which was six pounds and they charged me $65. A week after, the second air conditioner went down. The other company came out and they needed to do something similar. They told me the smaller unit took more refrigerant than the bigger unit, and they wanted $109 a pound instead of $65 a pound. They also told me there was a hole in my coil but there wasn’t. The only thing that happened was that the refrigerant leaked out from where I had the gauges hooked up. So, I paid for the refrigerant myself and put it in myself. It was fine.
I paid the second company $125 to come out and lie to me about all these things that they upsold. So, I’m not happy with that and the upcharges for the things that they were saying needed to be done weren’t covered. But I didn’t see anywhere in the contract that says they weren’t covered. The refrigerant spelled out separately. I was supposed to pay $1300 out of pocket to be my charge not including the $125 service fee. They came out once but two separate peers and diagnoses. They didn’t charge me anything because I didn’t let them do it. American Home Shield got a report from them saying all these things that needed to be done to the AC, and I called American Home Shield and I said that was not true. I said I’m in the business and I know what it was. If the unit was going to be bad, I might as well have my home warranty take care of it.
The company totally jacked up the prices on everything and said that a lot of things were wrong. But my problem was when I found out about all the things that were going on, I asked the people at American Home Shield if I can have the other company come out as they were charging me $65 instead of $109. AHS said that they already sold the contract and they awarded it to the second company. I told them that I didn’t award it to them and I felt more comfortable with the first company that was here. They took care of the AC and it worked great. Also, I ’m not paying any crazy cost but AHS said they wouldn’t do it.
If a friend asks about AHS, I’d tell them to make sure they know what’s in the contract to know that if there is anything above and for any upcharges for the cost. The reason I got the warranty is because of the life expectancy of the water heater, the heat pumps, and all that stuff are right around at the time and if they could be replaced, so I don’t want to get stuck having to pay $15,000 to replace two heat pumps. I wanted them to do it, but if they can fix it, I’m okay with it. But for $1300, it was ridiculous. The interaction with them was okay but when I asked the person from Home Shield, she just kept saying the same thing. I also asked to speak to somebody else but she told me she can have them get in touch with me but they’re going to tell me the same thing. I hung up as it didn’t make any sense for me to pay twice the amount of money for one person one week after the next.

My dishwasher still works but when I shut the door, it starts to run and there was no way to stop it unless it was unplugged. Back in December, Matt, the guy American Home Shield sent, came out and put something in. Matt was very good and I really liked him. About a week or two later, the dishwasher went out. Then he came back. But it went out again and he could not fix it because it was the same issue, so he recommended to American Home Shield that we get a new one. I sent American Home Shield the paperwork. They aren’t installing the new one until Wednesday of next week. And other than the hold time, everything else with American Home Shield has been great. The reps were very sweet and kind. I appreciated that they were sending stuff. However, an hour and a half on the phone is crappy so I hope AHS could figure out how to get a hold of them without having to wait that long. Still, I'd recommend American Home Shield.
I am pleased to hear that you have gotten a new dishwasher and been reimbursed for the cost. I would be glad to follow up with you and make sure that everything is completed to your satisfaction.

The sprayer on my sink wasn’t working. I called American Home Shield and since it was my first time to file a claim with them, it was all new to me. But the reps I talked to were perfect. Then, the tech came out when he said he was going to come. He tried to fix the part that was on there and before he left, he showed me that the sprayer worked. But afterwards, it stopped working again. So I called back American Home Shield and they said they would contact me. Then the tech called back and said he would have to order the part. After the repair, the sprayer has been operating perfectly. I submitted a few other claims to American Home Shield and everyone who came out fixed things. I'd recommend them and I would tell others that if they can't fix things themselves, American Home Shield is the best thing to have.

We had a plumbing issue in our house at Opal Ridge. We were getting an excessively high water bill. We weren't sure whether it was a leak in the system or if it was an issue with the toilets which we continually had to change the plungers. The contractors did what they needed to do. They pressure checked it because we were using a lot of water to change the float system out. It has been remedied now. I've had AHS for 20 years now and there have been other times where I had to arm wrestle them. I had to have an intervention where I said that, "This isn't right," and it went up to scale. I even had to write to their vice president once but I've always had a resolution at the end of the day. AHS is a good deal. Work with them.

Our water heater broke. I submitted the claim to American Home Shield over the phone. I'm paying $45 every month and every time I called them to repair something and if they have to replace it, I have a problem with them replacing it. I'm usually the one paying out of my pocket. They said something needed to be met before they can bring the hot water heater out. My homeowner's insurance put me and my family up in a hotel until they can replace it. And they would not replace that water heater unless I pay that $824. So, I had to go with all of that money to pay in order for them to come by as well as to fix it. So what do I need AHS for if they're not going to take care of things?
I got AHS so that if anything happens to any of my appliances, AHS would either fix it or replace it. And that's what they told me. So, when I called them, I'm under the impression that they're going to replace the hot water heater because I've been paying monthly installment. All I have to do is pay $125 for the initial visit. It turned out they would not honor that request of putting them in unless I pay that company $800. The same thing happened to me with my air conditioner. They came out here about two years ago because the air conditioner downstairs stopped getting cold. They told me that I had to pay $500 to see if it was working. This is my second experience with them of not honoring what they're saying they're going to do.
Their representatives were telling me, "Oh, it's in the contract in the writings." Who in the world look for the little writing in a contract, when you should go over these things when somebody gets a contract with you. I don't think homeowners can sit back and rely on AHS to do anything that is significant in their home. Don't count on it.

Going with American Home Shield will save you a lot of money if anything goes wrong with certain things in your house. There was a leak in my house from the master bedroom bathroom to the main floor bathroom. I called American Home Shield on a Sunday and they sent out a guy the next day. All the water was drained out so it wasn’t leaking when he got here, then he looked around to see where it could leak from and told me what to do. It was probably the jets or the cracks along the bathtub and I tightened up the jets and sealed up the cracks around the bathtub and there hasn’t been any leaks since. It worked out well.

I had two claims with AHS. There's positive and negative in both. The first one is regarding the water heater. They fixed the issue but my hot water became too hot and it had a short life so, I contacted them again. I kept contacting them through text and I realized I should have made a phone call instead of texting because apparently, communicating through text wasn't very effective. But the second time I followed up I said, "Hey, I need it fixed.” I had issues because my water heater only stood hot for 15 minutes and then became cold. Before it would become okay, but now it’s just freezing cold after 15 minutes.
15 minutes of warm water, that's all we got. I’m like,”Hey kids, you guys taking a bath now?” And that's it. In the morning I shower and then two hours later, my wife showers. We have to spread it out. The four of us can't take showers simultaneously within an hour. Obviously, there was another issue. I realized I should follow up with a phone call. The case was open, they contacted me and said, "Oh, yeah. We'll work it out.” But I wasn't satisfied with how they handled it with the follow-up test on the water heater.
Secondly, for the AC unit. January was a cold month and we started having a lot of problems with the heat. It’s March and I'm still having heating problems. I've been trying to figure out what the problem is. They came twice and apparently they're saying that my Nest is the problem. I'm watching the Nest and I'm still not satisfied. They didn't resolve the issue. The AC unit was blowing cold air, not hot air. I'm not satisfied with both situations. Our issues are causing our problems every day and I'm taking care of them on my own. I'm starting to reach out to a different furnace company to come and look at the furnace to get a second opinion. I can't trust AHS to take care of my issues.
I understand your concerns with issues you have experienced to have the water heater and AC service requests resolved. I would be glad to speak with you and address your concerns.

AHS is a very good warranty. There's not much of a pressure. The fees are really good and I really like AHS overall. The only junky thing is getting the repair done quickly. AllPro came out within two weeks and they were great but I still don’t have my item. My refrigerator had to be replaced and it took a month, which is a long wait to not have a refrigerator. And yet, it came damaged. The repair is very slow. It's really tough too because AHS is not the only company that I have to go through. There are so many middlemen. It would also be really nice if I could call a repairman and ask them to see my appliances choose instead of using what AHS has. The repair people that they use for my area is a little bit limited. Other than that, I'm satisfied with AHS and I've recommended them.

I called American Home Shield over the phone to file a claim and the rep asked me what was wrong and I told them what I saw. They sent Perry Mechanical because my air conditioner was freezing and it built ice. The first technician took three days to get to my property and when he came in, he checked the AC and did not see anything wrong. He asked me different questions, too. I live in a condo and he went up on the roof then looked at the air handler unit downstairs. He said I had enough refrigerant and it was running fine. Then he said that he’s going to do some adjustments and to leave the fan on. He also told me that if the issue happens again, I have to note if the fan is still running and blowing. The tech was excellent.
Two weeks later, the same thing happened again so I turned the fan off right away. They came back, checked it and they said that I needed a new coil. Everything is doing good right now but we haven't had to run it much because it has been so cold. I've always been happy with my experience with AHS and I recommend them. However, it cost me $385 for the rest of the refrigerant when it was changed and that was a lot of money to put for the refrigerant. I’ll understand if they told me they’ll pay half and I’ll pay the other half. Now, the policy changed to $10 per pound. A friend of mine told me to check a warranty place and to find out if they have the same thing.
If I was to purchase a home where everything is brand new, I would get a warranty. And I’m going to recommend people who will buy my condo eventually to make sure that they have a warranty because it’s excellent. It has saved me the hassle when I had a problem when I first moved back with my fan. The first company that was sent out was awful. The technician had an attitude and he'd say, "You know, you're not the only one with problems. There are people who have bigger problems than you."
He brought his ladder, but he never got up to look at the fan. He just looked at it from the ground and said that it was a power surge because of the hurricane. I told him to take his ladder and go back. American Home Shield got to me and told us they understood our problem. The technician reported that I had an attitude and that I was mad because he said it would take me two months to get the part for my fan. Then, American Home Shield sent somebody else a day later. The guy who came got up on the ladder and looked at everything. He said that he needed to buy a piece. He went to Home Depot, bought the remote for the fan then came in, put it together and out of the house. Whoever AHS sent were really good technicians and very thorough.

I tried to use American Home Shield's website to file the claim for the washer and dryer, but it didn't seem to work for me because I had an old contract number. So I called them instead and explained the problem, then they sent someone out. The person who showed up said they were only there to work on the dryer. They fixed the problem and then they left. And I got a $100 for that.
Another person came to do the washer, in which I incurred another hit on my visa card for another deductible. When the technician looked at the washer, he told me that they can't fix it, and that it was a moldy bellow seal which wasn't covered. I called American Home Shield and they explained it wasn't covered. Then they told me that they would take the second charge off of my account, which was great because there was supposedly only one service call and I got two. But I've had people show up to charge me money for something they said couldn't be fixed, and I ended up replacing the bellows myself.
And then a third person showed up. It was an electrician that was originally there to work on my dishwasher, even though I didn't make any call about it. And the electrician went in and looked at the washer and dryer. He said that there was no electrical problem and he left. It has been almost a month and I still have the second $100 charge to my account. I called American Home Shield late last week and they told me to give it one more week.
I certainly hate to hear that you have received less than satisfactory service. A social media specialist will follow up with you as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

I've always had a great experience with American Home Shield. I've been with them since I bought the house in 2012. My first year with them was a gift from my realtor and then I just continued on after that. I've always kept the same kind of coverage with the appliances and the systems because that makes good sense to me. I've called to file claims and their representatives were immediate and professional. They were right on it. Also, there was never any struggle for me to tell them what I needed and for them to grasp what I needed and to get me immediate service.
I made two calls on the same day. The first one was for the water heater that was leaking. The young man came and braced it, and he said it has to be replaced. We were leaving in April and it needed to be done, so he just took care of that. A week later, it was in. The next call was about a dishwasher that was not cleaning well. The racks were rusted and my dishes were getting rust marks on them which couldn't be washed off. They made the appointment the same day. I got a call and the appointment was made almost as soon as I was off the phone. The service guy came in a timely manner and did the evaluation. He made some phone calls and discovered that the racks could be replaced. He also said that the bottom spinner part wasn't working the way it should, so he was replacing that too. We received the parts this week and we have an appointment with them next week. With AHS, the service has been always quick and professional.

I have spoken with multiple customer service reps at AHS. My refund for my service fee was suppose to posted by 3/6/18. I have not received anything. Notes on my account should give the background needed. Just in case it doesn't. The company, Smithfield Plumbing, that replaced my water heater turned off the gas line in my laundry room, which supplies both my water heater and furnace. As soon as Smithfield left from the initial visit my furnace stopped working and I was not aware that they turned off my gas, using the valve in the house. So I called AHS to come fix my furnace and the company that came out, only had to turn the valve on. This was not my mistake! Smithfield should have left my house the way they found it. Smithfield's tech also admitted to me that it was a honest mistake by them and they misunderstood what AHS asked them.
AHS has agreed to give a refund, but it never posts in my account and every time I call it is a different story. Please play back the recordings. I just want my refund. And there is never supervisor available to speak with and I asked to be transferred to the escalations dept, which is never available as well!! This has been going on since 2/21/18.
I understand your frustration with the service you recently experienced to have your furnace repaired by the contractor that we dispatched to you. I would be glad to speak with you and clarify the refund that you have requested.
Thank you,

I put in a claim on a washer that was not working. AHS sent out a company that I had worked with before already. It is a really good little family-owned local company and I like the people who they're sending out. The tech said he could repair it, but he wasn't sure that American Home Shield would be willing to repair it for the cost. AHS decided that they could not reasonably repair the washer, and so they arranged for a replacement for me. I'm happy with the replacement.
They offered me a couple of replacement options, I asked a couple of questions, and I asked them if we could price a couple of other washers besides the ones that they offered. I decided to go with the one they offered. And within a week of the time that we decided that we were going to accept that washer, we had that washer in place. But there was a little hiccup in the middle where I asked a couple of questions and they didn't realize I was accepting the offer. That delayed it a couple of days but it was not a big deal.
The new washer has some features the old washer didn't. The only way I could've been happier would've been if they could've found one in the same color as the washer that we got rid of. I had to go with the white one because they weren't able to find a red one that would've been comparable, and I understand that and I can live with that. Overall, I was really pleased.

We have American Home Shield for 20 years now and the only grunt we have is that they are a little quirky sometimes about what items they'll cover and how they'll cover them. For instance, we sold our house and when the inspector came in, he said that our dock board had a gaping hole. So, I called American Home Shield and they said that they'd cover that. But when their guy came out, he said they didn't cover poor installation. The thing is, I didn’t know what was good installation and what was not. That’s why I have American Home Shield. Other than that, the warranty is still a good value.
When the toilet tank was cracked and the faucet was leaking, I called their 800 number and the rep I talked to was good. The contractor who came out gave me a new faucet and it's working good now. My son is a plumber and he said that anytime you replace the faucet, you always replace the hose that goes from a faucet to the bottom of the toilet. But the contractor may have thought there was no reason to replace the hose, too. He also said that American Home Shield may not cover the tank because they don’t consider the crack as a result of normal wear and tear. Four days later, American Home Shield followed up with an email and said the same thing.
Hi, Terry. We definitely understand that all issues may not be covered under the policy and most times the homeowner is not aware of what is happening in order to cause the failure. Thank you for advising us of your concerns and we look forward to shielding your home for many years to come.

I checked it and the temperature was still the same that it was when we went to bed, and the grade never even dropped. I went around and checked it, and the AC wasn’t even working. I could hear a clicking noise, like the compression trying to start and was going on and off. I called American Home Shield as soon as I knew it was out and they hooked me up. The rep I dealt with was polite and courteous. She kept calling and telling me who was going to do the service. She stayed on track of it and I didn't have to worry about anything.
American Home Shield got somebody out here the next day, which was a Monday. The technician started working on it when he got in. He explained everything in writing to me and all the details. He said the compressor went out, he fixed it and put a new kick-off breaker next to the thing that it never had. He wired it up and sealed it well where no wires are showing. And he put some insulation around the suction lines and made sure it was set. He did a good job in taking care of it and got it going. We went almost a week with no AC and down here in Houston, we need it. The temperature in the state is normal so it wasn’t really hot, but there were a few days when it got warm. Since the repair, the air conditioner has been working well. And if my friends have any problems with their appliances now, I'd tell them American Home Shield is who they need to contact. They will get right to the job, get it done and they don't hesitate in taking care of their customers.

In the three times that I spoke to somebody over at American Home Shield, I had different experiences. One contractor really had little clue as to what was going on and how they would be able to help me. At the other end of the spectrum, one other person was very helpful so it kind of ran the gamut. In my latest appliance claim, I had kind of an interesting deal. AHS found a company to come out but the first company never even contacted me. A couple of times, I sent them an email and I left them a message but they never returned my calls. The second people that AHS assigned also never even bothered calling me back. It took to a third company to actually came out and they were pretty good.
But despite the fact that what they needed to get done got done, it seemed like the contractor was a little confused about how it all worked. They said that they didn't know if AHS would cover the claim and that they would have to call them. But a week and a half later, I hadn’t heard back so I had to call and leave a message asking if they were going to let them know what was going on with this somebody. They then got back to us. She should have just been quiet, listened and let me explain what was going on. I was concerned but everything went smoothly after that.
AHS got me in touch with someone. The contractor that they sent was absolutely great and I wouldn't want anybody but that contractor to work on my air conditioner. I was able to talk to the contractor’s people before they came which was helpful. I didn't even know what brand of air conditioner I had, so when they got here, they came back the same afternoon that first day. They worked around my schedule to come back that day for me because another thing that the lady didn't know was I have asthma. I can't live in heat. When the techs came, they were really apologetic because they had to order the part and they had to come back on a Friday. I was able to survive with the fan because at night it was still cool. It was great that it happened in February and not August.
They were pretty quick to get everything and they looked at everything. Since I didn't get to tell the lady everything, when they got here I told them that I was not only having trouble with my fan, but the thermostat upstairs was turning itself off. They took a look at that and they said that it needed to be fixed too. They took care of everything in just a few days and everything is working really well now. But if you have an issue you need to speak to somebody.

They're at the house immediately. And it was very late at night when this happened. Anyway, they came out and they were able to solve the immediate issue because my problem was the pump was filling up and it's about to flood my basement.
They got a new pump in there in absolutely no time at all and got it working so they were draining the water out. But then, they had to install some valves and things when they replaced those and so, they came back the next day just to make sure that they install the other one because the other one was going to take more time. They had to shut the pump off to do it and there was water flowing in. The way they handled the problem was excellent. They were very service-oriented.

I called the claim on a weekend and the technician was here on a Tuesday. He was great and really informative. He got on it right away. He had to go get some parts that he didn't have with him because we got some unusual piping in the house. He apologized for that, but he was back within a couple of hours with the part and fixed it. Everything has been fine since the repair.
The only trouble was that afterwards, I got to thinking he should've done it a little different way. The leak occurred up where the pipe went through the piece of board at the top of the wall, and it leaked because it was rubbing. He just pulled the extra pipe down and put a coupling in there. He should have just cut a little bit of a hole in the ceiling and put an extra little piece of pipe. He talked about some sort of thing around the hole so that it wouldn't be rubbing against the wood, but he put on a brass coupling and he tried to position it in such a manner that it wouldn't rub on the wood, so he did a good job overall.
Having a warranty is very nice because I don't have to get involved with trying to find a contractor to come out and work at the house. So far, the three times I've used American Home Shield has been a real pleasure because they can get somebody. I got the warranty when I had a heart attack a few years ago. I figured that if my wife was here all by herself, all she would have to do is call up American Home Shield and they will answer everything for her and she wouldn't have to bother.

The website that American Home Shield has is very user-friendly and submitting a claim online is a very easy and convenient process. I pretty much make the request for the service then it’s confirmed when a technician is contacted and I get that through email. Once the technician gets the information from American Home Shield, we're contacted directly. I also get an email to let me know who would contact me and I appreciate that I'm aware of the company.
For this last one where the garbage disposal was no longer working, it took a couple of days. I think it was because they were trying to find a technician who could work on the disposal whereas before if it was some other appliance, it could be same day or maybe later next day. This claim was the longest I’ve ever experienced but still, it wasn’t that long. Also, the technician was very professional and efficient. He found the problem, which was that something had gotten stuck in the garbage disposal, and he fixed it. So we were pleased. Now, the garbage disposal is working perfectly well.
We've been with American Home Shield for a while now and we've had our refrigerator and our dishwasher replaced. There were also other items like our washer machine which was repaired and recently our dryer too. There has not been any appliance listed in our plan or any need that we’ve had that American Home Shield has not either repaired or replaced with the exception of one. For the old fan, I was asked to go buy one and have it installed then American Home Shield would reimburse. I was little disappointed in that. But with everything else, we've been very pleased. I can't ask for a better company and I've always bragged about American Home Shield.

I had some problems with the electrical ceiling lighting a couple of months ago. I tried to fix it but I couldn’t and I filed a claim to AHS by phone which I prefer doing versus online because I like talking to a real person. So AHS got hold of a contractor and he came over and fixed it. He was a good contractor and did everything he was supposed to do. The lights in the laundry room and the garage works. I’ve been a customer of American Home Shield for years and other than the price has gone up a little I’m satisfied with them. Don’t hesitate to use them.

American Home Shield is like a one-stop-shop wherein if anything goes wrong, you know who to call. You just need to go on their website and find the particular problem you're having, and then you'll know that somebody's going to show up to try and fix the problem. I submitted a claim for my oil burner through the app which was fine. The oil burner had a circulator that kept turning it off. Every so often, I'd start feeling cold and when I'd go and look at the thermostat, it would go down and turn off for some reason. I'd have to go downstairs, tap the top of the box and then smack it, and all of a sudden, it would turn back on and I'd start feeling warmer.
The next day, somebody came and he was very nice. He asked me what was the problem, so I told him what I was experiencing. And then he tried a couple of things and mentioned it was the box that had an issue since that is what makes the motors turn on and off. He also gave me a bit of an explanation and told me that he was going to order the parts. He'd let me know if the parts would be on stock as well and I am still waiting.
I also had problems with my stove and placed a call with AHS. They were very responsive and was trying to help, but they kept sending this one company that was not fixing the problem back and forth. The contractors also showed up either without the parts or the wrong ones, and it was just ridiculous. And then AHS finally started sending somebody else. Still, being with AHS has been very valuable especially since moving into an older home, I'll never know what's going to come up.

A friend of mine recommended American Home Shield and I signed up in December. It was easy to submit a claim to them. Our burners on our stove weren’t lighting and there was a connection issue. The freezer was also leaking from the back and it was causing our water not to come out of the refrigerator. The contractors sent by AHS were very good, on time, and very efficient. They also cleaned the mess that they made all up. Everything works fine now since the repair. We got cold water coming out of the refrigerator so that’s a plus. Everything was done very well and I couldn’t ask for anything better.
We are so glad to have you apart of the AHS family. Thanks for sharing your feedback.

I had American Home Shield come out to check my AC system and I submitted the claim online. I had to put my phone number in and it found my address, then I chose my request and submitted it immediately. A couple of minutes later I received a message saying that so and so company had been assigned. When the contractor came in I told him exactly I wanted to see if the air conditioning is going to work or not because it was winter. He looked into the system and he worked on the temperature settings. It was some kind of thermostat, which was supposed to be inside the system. He put it back and then showed me what it was supposed to do. He was good at explaining. Moreover, he found that everything was working fine.
I’ve been a customer with AHS for four years. There was a time I had to pay the contractor who came in through a check. Two times it did not reflect back and I started getting bills from American Home Shield saying that I had to pay the service fee to so and so company. I called back and told them that I already paid and I’m not sure why it was not reflecting. But now I can pay with my credit card and everything is automatic. I don't have to do any payments after the contract and after the work is done. Sometimes when I try to make a request online it says I can’t do it and I have to call in. And to call in to set up a request is a pain while doing it online is very smooth and fast.

We have one claim going on right now with American Home Shield for an AC heater type unit. The heater was not working and I submitted the claim by phone. I usually like to call them. I know I can do it online, and I’ve done it online before, but this one was by the phone and the phone is better sometimes. The claims reps are always polite although I had a problem in the past when it seemed like the contractor was not really qualified and they kept on sending the same company over.
And by the 5th time, I said, “You know what, these people have barely even changed one unit.” They changed the cooler or the coolant and it wasn’t part of the heater of another unit. I said that it still wasn’t working so they left something wrong. After talking to a supervisor and calling so many times, they agreed to assign the job to another company that has worked in the past, and they were very professional and they came over and fixed the problem in one visit.
Some of the contractors that come out are a bit loosey-goosey but, at the end of the day, the experience has been good and some are excellent while some of them are just good. I was with American Home Shield years ago and overall, they usually tend to be polite but not always very knowledgeable, otherwise, they wouldn’t be coming six times to fix a problem and change part of the unit and still don’t get it right. It is a hit and miss and I like to call because I write down the name of the company when they know what they’re doing so when I call back, I don’t put it in the online because they probably will assign somebody. I keep all those records because going through bad guys is not good and I went through one that was really bad in addition to the one before, who cut the sheetrock down even though there was no need for that.
The other contractor said, “What in the world are you thinking?” I needed to put it back, patch it, do a little blasting and sand it off, and paint the wall. There was no problem inside the unit at all. They have contractors that are a bit amateur. AHS should try to get one of those people that are passionate because some of them are cookie cutters, and it is a room for improvement. The concept is not bad and there are some very good people in there that are passionate. We just need more of those in the company. Having American Home Shield is valuable, however, it’s going up in price every year, which didn’t happen when I had them on the other house. The warranty was only three years but it stayed the same price for three years. But as far as recommending them to somebody to buy a warranty for their house, I would absolutely recommend them.
