I submitted a claim with American Home Shield over the phone for my microwave. The contractor was sent out uninformed about the thing that they’re going to do so they came out and said they don’t do construction. They wouldn’t take my microwave down because it was mounted on my ceramic. I told them that the ceramic was old and out there to my kitchen and they can still go ahead and bother me but they didn’t do that and they left. And then, AHS sent another man and they told him that it was just for a maintenance call. So he had to get another guy with him and had to reschedule another date. But that was the only problem I had with AHS as they were able to fix the microwave. It performs nicely since the repair. If my friends would ask about AHS, I would tell them to go ahead and do it.

The rollers in my dryer had broken. I went online to American Home Shield and then usually it takes about three days. But I was really forcing it and the contractor they had chosen had a cancellation so he showed up within 15 minutes so I was really satisfied. Everything was fixed right away and he replaced the rollers. The dryer now works the same as it did before but without the loud noise that it had with the broken rollers. He did a great job.

I had some very bad feedback for American Home Shield in the past and it was a horrific time, so I was very surprised with this most recent claim. I had an air-conditioner that was broken and the contractor came out and looked at it. He quoted me a different price and I was made to pay for the Freon to put in there which was as much as $1,000 additional cost. So I was just going to buy the Freon myself and have my friend fix the problem. But the contractor said it was part of their contract and that they were required to do it. I ended up buying a brand new air-conditioner because of that.

I called in the claim for our stove and AHS sent New Life Appliances. The guy who came was brilliant and outstanding. AHS ended up buying us out. They paid for the stove, we went and bought a new unit, and it works great. AHS' monthly premium is expensive but so far, it's been good and worth it.

I have a claim for our dryer. The contractor identified the problem very quickly and ordered the parts. The parts came in and I got the phone call this morning but we had an issue with one of the service guys. He wasn’t able to come out and meet the deadline so we rescheduled for Monday afternoon which is fine. So far, I’m fine with American Home Shield and I’m happy with the providers. I file my claims on the phone instead of online because I want to talk to a live person. I want some responsibility and accountability. I don’t want to just schedule online and hope that somebody’s going to call me. If something’s broken and I wanted some help right now, I will be told that they will get to me within 24-48 hours. We’re on the back side of the contract when it comes to the time to renew the warranty for our house and we’re probably going to open up an American Home Shield account.

My wife and I have been selling real estate since 2000 and we’ve been recommending First American and then they literally fell off. It’s sad to say that they haven’t been treating our customers well and us too. We mandate that all of our buyers or sellers use a home warranty company. The home inspection is very good but I’ve had situations that during the first week after closing, something bad has happened. It’s either the refrigerator, air conditioner, a washing machine, a dryer, a plumbing leak or an electrical problem that wasn’t discovered. And when you have a buyer who spent all the money in their account plus borrowing a lot of money in the form of a mortgage and the last thing they want to have is a washing machine that isn’t working and the laundry for two kids piling up. So it's a great peace of mind having a home warranty that’s why we believe in them now. I have recommended American Home Shield to everybody I know.

It takes so long for American Home Shield to get a contractor out. When I had a claim for the air conditioner, I had to wait a week for the air conditioner people to come out. And it was so hot in the summer that I had to go to my sisters because we could not stay in the house. Then when I filed a claim for the water heater leak, I had explained to them that it was leaking water and I needed someone to come out immediately to cut it off. But they said that the water tank was probably just emptying out and that it was not an emergency. but as the night went on, it was still leaking.

I had to call AHS back and tell them that it was an emergency because water was running in my garage and messing up the wall. So they said that they would get the people to come out the next morning, which was a Saturday. The leak also set up black mold around the little wooden stand that the water heater sits down. And by the time the guy from the company that AHS was sending showed up, I had found somebody and had it cut off already.

That guy sent by AHS just looked at the water heater and said that I needed a new one. I asked him if he could do it today, but he said that he had to get an approval from AHS first, so he could probably do it on Monday. By that time, I had found someone to put in the water heater. Though he did do a good job replacing the knobs on my shower.

I called American Home Shield and told them that I had someone else put in the water heater for me, and so they said that they would pay for the water heater because the guy they sent out would have figured that this other company wanted $900 out of my pocket, including a $289 charge for the pan which only cost $35 when the guy, who I had it done, got it. It was ridiculous. But AHS ended up giving me the money for the cost of the water heater.

But I have to pay an initial fee anytime the vendor comes out and if they don't fix it on the first time, I am charged $100 which the vendor said that I wasn’t supposed to be charged at all.

We have a washing machine that had a huge power surge with a snowstorm that we had. I filed a claim online with American Home Shield, which was a very easy process, and they were able to send someone out quickly. The gentleman who came was knowledgeable and very professional and quick. He was the same guy who fixed our refrigerator.

When he came out for the washing machine, he looked over the appliance and got the part for that problem. We waited a couple of days for the part to come in, but when it finally came, the contractor noticed that the washing machine also had a problem with the motor. That was over the threshold for American Home Shield to the money that they wanted to put in that appliance, so now, we're in the process of trying to get it replaced. We never had to have something fully replaced with them and this last one is taking us some extra time, but we're hoping that it can be remedied soon. Still, it's been good with American Home Shield. They are a great company and they'll definitely help you out when you have an appliance that isn't working.

We bought the house and closed in on August 1. The garage door opener was working just fine back then, but within four months it wasn’t working at all. I didn’t even know if that was covered or not, but I looked at the policy and saw that it was. I filed a claim with American Home Shield and was told there would be a $75 charge for it, which was fine. The company that American Home Shield called could not have been any better. They were superb.

The guy came and found out that the garage opener was improperly installed. And he was amazed that it was functioning at all or that it had functioned for six years. Because of the nature of the problem, it wasn’t covered under my policy, but I was so impressed with the folks that came out that I negotiated a deal with them to replace it with me paying for it. And that’s exactly what we did and it now works like a charm, so I was very satisfied. In effect, I paid American Home Shield $75 to send me to the right people, but that was fine.

The guy that came out was on time, polite, competent and thorough. I liked him very much. He called his brother, who owns the company and has a lot more experience than him, because it was such an unusual situation. He had never seen it before, and his brother said that it was put in essentially backwards as far as the tension is concerned. When they came out in a few weeks later to put the new one in, they had to be very careful about how they took the old one down because it had been put in so wrong. I paid Them $330 for labor and I bought the new controller for $150. So, it was about $500 to get my whole problem solved, plus the $75 to American Home Shield.

The online process for filing the claim was just fine. And American Home Shield communicated with me several times, asking me how things were going, and I communicated back. I didn’t have a single problem with them and hopefully in the remainder of this year I won’t file any more claims, but if I do I’m sure I’ll have a good experience. I've also recommended them.

I called American Home Shield for a gas leak and I was on hold for about two hours. And I only stayed on hold that long just because it was a gas leak. I would think that because it was a gas leak, she would have expedited the call. But I had to wait 48-hours for a gas leak. But the agent was pleasant and the contractor was personable, professional and on time.

We found the gas leak because the city had come out and shut off my gas because of the leak. So the contractor had already pinpoint at the leak that the city found and he was supposed to see if he could make sure that those are the only leaks. But the contractor just fixed the leaks that the city guy found. And then when he came back the next time he had missed the leak. I thought it was already fine but shortly thereafter I went home for the holidays and I've been gone for a month. And so now I'm back and it still smells like gas so I really need to call the contractor.

Also AHS could come on board to the 2018 era and maybe have a way for customers to see their billing history online or at least get an invoice of some sort on a regular basis showing what they've spent and what their contract price is. I've never seen anything like that from them and that's crazy. Lately, I had to file a dispute with the Better Business Bureau to find out what happened to the money from the credit I got from when I sold my house. And it was a back and forth tug of war with them through the Better Business Bureau just to get a simple answer on what credit card they refunded the money to. Because they're claiming that they refunded it to my credit card

The fact that I even had to go that far and go to the Better Business Bureau says enough. I've been with American Home Shield since 2008 and here and there there has been a problem with the service contractors and that's to be expected. But there's a system issue with American Home Shield. And I stay with them because I have real property and it was easier to deal with the devil that you know than the one you don't so at least I know what to expect from them. They can do better with their customer service just in general.

And the whole time, from when you call, when you make a request to have something done, nobody calls you back. You ask for a supervisor, you never get to speak to a supervisor or one never calls you back. So overall, if you’re looking for quality service technicians and work then they’re great. If you're looking for quality customer service I would not recommend them. If you're okay with sacrificing one for the other, meaning quality workmanship, then go with them.

The experience has been okay as far as getting to us quickly. But the problem was not solved the first time around. Now we're having to pay another $100 deductible, which is not good. But we submitted that claim online and navigating through their website was easy. The techs who came were very good, quick and professional. I've been a customer of American Home Shield for many years. But upon selling my home, and cancelling the warranty, they have left a seriously bad taste in my mouth, and I won't ever be using them again. Their coverage was acceptable. When I sold my house and cancelled my warranty, I was told that there would be no additional payments required, and that my business with them had concluded. As it turns out this was not true at all. Without informing me, they had already begun processing another payment, which as luck would have it, came out of an account without sufficient funds to cover this payment (I was in the process of closing all my accounts with this financial institution upon the sale of my home).

I was hit with an overdraft fee from my bank, so I called them. They were very rude on the phone, and then informed me that there is an "administrative fee" that is incurred whenever a customer cancels their account, equal to one month's payment, which was not disclosed to me upon cancellation. So they refused to refund me the monthly fee (even though I no longer have a warranty for that month), or even reimburse me for the overdraft fee for posting an unauthorized transaction to my account. The representative informed me that "There's not gonna be any refund!". Worst customer service ever.

My water heater wasn't warm and its pilot light was out. When I submitted the claim to American Home Shield, I had a great experience with them. Every time I call them, they're responsive and they give me a callback within 24 hours. They're always courteous on the phone, they take the information down and explain to me the process. The contractor who came out was very helpful. They were on time and came quickly. They fit me in between two jobs since it was something important. And they were able to find the access tunnel, gave me few minutes to clear it out, and explained to me that the access tunnel should be ventilated since they left it in a way that it was better for it.

The contractor went around back and checked trying to find out why the pilot light went out. And it shouldn't have so he was a little perplexed on that part but he was able to get it up and running in 5 minutes. They tested it a few times and it continued to ignite every time. He left and explained to me the process of my claim would be open and if anything else should occur, I could get them back there as soon as possible. It was my second time to use American Home Shield and I've been very satisfied every time. And even on this one, I had put it on a credit card but it didn't go through and apparently, it was maxed out. They gave me a couple notices via email which I didn't check recently, but they didn't hassle me. Once I realized it, I contacted them and they let me take care of it.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since December 2017 and when I submitted a claim online, their website was easy to follow. I also called them and the reps were fine. There was a leak from the back panel of the refrigerator over the freezer side. The guy came out, unclogged the line and the problem was fixed. I need to set up another appointment because they were supposed to follow up about the icemaker and they haven’t done so yet. But if my friends ask about AHS, I would tell them that they need to get it.

Submitting a claim online for the air conditioning was perfectly okay. However, when the contractor tried to fix the issue, he fixed the motor on the A/C condenser when he already knew that the top part where that's set down was bent so it was making the fan blades wobble and he even told me that the motor was going to be bad again. So, I don’t understand why he did not try to fix or order the top part of it as well. Still, American Home Shield is good. That was more of the contractor's fault. I have the tech company coming again today.

The last time that I had American Home Shield send someone out was for the faucet on the west side of my house where the garden hose connects. The day before, my neighbor had come over and told me that there was a pile of ice underneath the dripping faucet. He had tried to turn it off and he couldn't stop the dripping, although I had already shut off the water from my vault. It was already cold weather and he said that I wouldn't want the faucet dripping all winter as this could freeze the water back up inside the faucet, so he advised that I call and get somebody to take care of it. I submitted a claim with American Home Shield online. I also called and told them what the problem was and they sent the plumbers out. The customer service level was super when I spoke with the rep.

There were two fairly young guys who came and they were very observant. They told me all the way through what they were going to do. They said they had to replace the faucet and the pipes that came into the side of the house and because it was a more than $200 repair job, they had to get permission. They moved the freezer that was on that wall and a couple of other things for me, then they put all these back together when they were done. After they had taken the outer thing off, they told me that a screw had broken off inside the faucet. Since the repair, the performance of the plumbing has been very good.

I got the information about American Home Shield from my lady neighbor who has the service and has been fairly satisfied with it. Likewise, I would highly recommend American Home Shield to people, especially if they're in my situation. I would like to be able to take care of this house, but I live alone and I'm 73 years old, and I can't do the hard things. I'd like, though, to have a card with American Home Shield's phone number because if my computer was off, then I wouldn't be able to get a hold of them. When I can't move a refrigerator or repair a faucet, I'm going to have to call somebody.

When they finally figured out what was wrong with it, they told me they had to call me the next day, which is Thursday, and let me know when the part would come in. But, I've never heard anything from them. I waited until Monday and I called them. I kept getting excuses after excuse why they weren't out there. One time they told me that the parts man has gone to pick up the part so I told them to have him call me whenever he gets back. He called me and he said that they didn't have the part and that they'll have to get another one.

I was unhappy with the vendor. I called them back in a couple of days since I didn't hear anything from them. The part still didn't come in. Then I called them back a day after that and they said that the parts man has gone to pick up the part. I told them to have him call me and when he called, he said that the parts were out there. I called American Home Shield and told them what was going on. American Home Shield called them and then within 30 minutes, they called me and said the contractor would be out the next day to install the part. The air conditioner was fixed but they said that we can't really judge it in cold weather so I don't know if it's going to work properly or not.

I've had two claims since I bought my house in November of 2017. The first one was a blower on my furnace. And the furnace was probably 25 years old. We couldn't get someone the same day and it was 16 degrees so I had to go out and find somebody else. And then they called American Home Shield and requested a dispatch number and then they were allowed to perform the service and I had the new part in the same day which was great. The only confusion was that because I found my own service provider and American Home Shield didn't send me one, they charged me $75 even though I found my own. They have to get compensated for doing the paperwork or whatever that it takes to have the whole claim in process.

My other claim was my oven. I would set it on broil or set it on a high temperature and the electric part of it would go out. It's a gas range, but has the electricity temperature touch screen on the top, and it would go out. First, we had someone come out to look at the oven and he determined that it wasn't the oven. They determined it was an electrical problem so an electrician came and it all went fine. Everything was done and I just had to pay the $75 both times. It was timely and the quality of the service was good.

I filed my claims online and American Home Shield's website was good. I'm an IT person so I'm pretty much familiar with different things. It was pretty simple. My experience has been great and I'm really happy I have American Home Shield because I feel very secure. I have a 25-year-old house with appliances that are older. And although some of the appliances are brand new that the previous owners purchased, you still never know.

The septic tank, I've never had one of those before. I'd never know if that's going to go out, have a problem or back up. So it really gives me peace of mind having the Home Shield warranty, which the home seller paid for. I'd tell others about my experience and that they should definitely get a warranty no more matter who they go with. But I'm with American Home Shield and they've been fine and they covered both items.

We had problems with the heater and the repair work was done by American Home Shield's contractor, Complete Residential Services. They were marvelous and responsive. We had snow here in the Washington area right about that time and everything was closed on the day I put a call in but they went out of their way to have the owner call me back to set up the appointment. Their technician, Isaiah, came on March 22, then he had to get a part and he came back with that. I called American Home Shield and told them how wonderful he was and that I was very pleased. I also had an issue with my washer and AHS sent PJ Appliance for that. Hugh, the gentleman who came, was very professional and knowledgeable. Even American Home Shield's office staff was very helpful in getting the services scheduled and following up. I was very impressed.

I always take note of whoever American Home Shield sends out. I made notes for the ones that were really good and the ones that I didn’t want back. And Complete Residential Services and PJ Appliance were both excellent. I had some experience that didn’t turn out the way it did with these guys but American Home Shield followed through whenever I had a problem and made it right. At one point, they even had to put a substitute company in and did not charge me a second fee. So far, I’ve had very good success over many years with American Home Shield and I’d recommend them. I went with them back in ’99 then, when I was flooded out, I put in all new appliances so I stopped for a couple of years because the appliances were still under warranty. As they got a little older, I went back to American Home Shield.

Recently, we filed a claim over the phone for our toilet that was blocked. The American Home Shield rep was nice, she understood very easily, and she right away assigned the case. The contractor came in at the scheduled time. He brought some tools with him and he put them in the toilet and took the blockage out. The contractor fixed the toilet in just five minutes and left, and everything was good since the repair. However, last time there was a bit of a confusion and it had something to do with the service three months back when I had an AC problem. AHS opened a case and everything was scheduled, and a service company, some Green Service, was supposed to come. However, all of a sudden, without any information, Green canceled the service. I was waiting for them, and when I tried to call them, they said the service request was canceled.

But I didn’t cancel because that was the peak of winter. It was snowing outside and the heater was not working. When I called AHS, they said I could find any vendor, and they were ready to pay for it. So, I called another local vendor and they came here. That was a last-minute service call on a Saturday. It was actually scheduled at 3:00 but nobody showed up, and I was trying to get the person at 4:00. The vendor fixed the AC, and they helped me through all this process to submit the paperwork to AHS. I paid around $200 because they were charging extra for the weekend and also for the night service. AHS reimbursed me but I had to spend two hours on the phone with all the vendors to find one who could come out. And I don’t blame AHS because it was Green that canceled the service. That was the only bad experience I have had and apart from that, everything was done at the scheduled time.

I referred American Home Shield to two of my friends, so I'm okay with the service. We are in the same community and our builder finds vendors for us. However, the vendors were a bit rude so we didn’t like everyone. When I found AHS and I did the two services, I explained to my friends what happened and they signed up for AHS too. I told them that we don’t need to depend on only one vendor because AHS has multiple vendors. The company can assign whoever is available, so the work is faster than what we expect.

I've been having problems with my air-conditioning unit since last year. There were some leaks in the system, one of which was a significant one that went through my ceiling because my main unit is in my attic. After going through a couple of rounds, AHS replaced it. Then, I had a situation where when I came back from out of town doing some hurricane relief, I realized that the money wasn't deducted out of my pay like it usually is. I called AHS about it and they said they cancelled it because there was something with the routing number or card that I used, so I fixed that. Then, they told me that instead of paying $79 a month, I needed to pay an increased fee of $110 because of the number of calls for stuff around the house.

My house is going on 10 years. It's still a fairly modern home and it's close to 4,000 square feet. It's a huge home so there are different things that go wrong and that's the reason behind having a home warranty. I felt I was penalized for having too many service calls and I didn't think that was fair. But right now, I don’t have a choice because AHS is the best thing going.

Recently, my A/C unit outside was making a very loud noise. The contractor came out and worked on it. They said the reason that some pressure was making so much noise was because the A/C was low on Freon. So, they replaced that and I had to pay $170. Freon does not come cheap these days. Plus, I paid my $75 for the contractors to come out. Now, we got everything working properly again. Then I had to call AHS back for a recall because the compressor was still making a loud noise. When the guy came out, he was very understanding and he told me that he wanted to be the best so he could fix the problem but AHS would not pay to replace the unit until it goes out. I asked him how much does one unit cost and when he told me how much, I knew why AHS didn’t want to pay to get it replaced because the outside unit is expensive.

But at the same time, the inside unit that's in my attic was expensive, too. It's just so much a point in time where I have fair wear and tear and things start going out. I live in Texas and it gets hot here. I was talking to the technician and I told him that I understood what he said but I’m afraid that what happened to me last summer would happen again. When the unit in my attic went out, my family and I were in a hot house for almost two weeks before the replacement unit came in. It had to be ordered but I dealt with it.

Now that I'm dealing with the outside unit that's going on over 10 years old with a compressor that's on its last leg, I have a strong feeling that it will go out in the sweltering 100 degree heat in Texas and when it does, I'm going to have to wait again until the new unit comes in then wait for AHS to put me in the lineup to get it installed. All in all, I'm not dissatisfied with AHS and it's better to have the warranty than not have it. However, the reason behind raising my monthly fee and the fact that my outside unit is on its last leg but I have to wait until it goes completely out before I can get a replacement, are ridiculous.

Part of the sale contingency was that the sellers would provide the warranty so I could get that switch fixed and I was given one with American Home Shield. Submitting the claim with them was easy. I did it through their online process then the contractor contacted me. They were quick to schedule and their guy came out on a Saturday, which was great. He took a look at the system and he seemed well informed and knowledgeable about it. He didn’t have the part so he said that he was going to go back to the office and order it. But he never followed up to have the piece installed and they never rescheduled an installation date. So I haven’t had the problem resolved yet and I've been waiting for a month now. AHS should follow up with the contractors to make sure that the job was actually done.

The other thing was that they didn’t have a way to give details about the claim. All I could say was that I had a heating problem. If there was a way that they could add a little more detail, like if I knew what the issue was or that I needed a part replaced, they could have had somebody come out that had the part or they could have asked me what the model number for my heater was so they could have gotten it resolved more quickly. Other than that, when I got to talk with AHS' reps, they were very polite and informative.

So, if you have a plumbing issue, which we had with the house when we first moved in, we needed to call an emergency plumber. But our experience with American Home Shield worked out very well and we had a pretty quick service from them.

We were having an electrical issue with the house. Half the electricity was gone. We had the electrical company come out, and they said the problem was with the house. Then we went through American Home Shield. I submitted the claim online as I don’t like talking on the phone. They brought an electrician in who looked at the problem and said that it was actually the electrical company's concern. So the contractor contacted the electrical company, and let them know exactly what they foresaw the problem was, and then the electrical company came back out and fixed it. The repair was not done by the electricians that were contacted through American Home Shield, but we needed electricity and we got it back on in our house.

I went online and put in a request for technicians to come and take a look at my washer and fix it. They came, took a look at it, ordered a motor and put it in but it didn’t work. They said that there was another problem and they needed a transmission. However, I had to call American Home Shield because I waited too long for a response and they said that they submitted the paperwork for the claim but never did, so I had to speak with someone there in order for me to get reimbursed. To cut the long story short, I had my washing machine replaced and was able to get reimbursed for the cost of a new one. I would recommend anybody to go with American Home Shield.

Submitting claims with American Home Shield has always gone pretty smooth and their reps are very pleasant. Our coverage is for our retirement home in Florida and we live in Maryland, so we're not in it yet. We've had American Home Shield for four years and it has been a godsend because we don’t have to fly to Florida to get things fixed. It works great. It's normally a friend of ours who is there when we need to have it serviced. There was only one time that we were not pleased with the service that we received on a refrigerator repair but the next time, they sent someone different and it was fine. If one contractor doesn’t work, they’ll get someone else. When you have a home you’ve never been in before, AHS is a lot of protection because you're not familiar with the area and you don’t know who to call. It's very helpful and I would highly recommend everyone to have them.

Having a warranty on your property is very valuable. We just moved into a home in December and we already had two claims. Within two months, the hot water heater and the refrigerator broke. The freezer was warm, it melted ice cream, and the refrigerator was 50 degrees. I submitted a claim online with American Home Shield and navigating their website was easy. The following day, a technician came and my husband liked him. He said he was nice. But even after he was there, the temperature was still in the 50 but it finally dropped and I put some groceries then. We keep monitoring the refrigerator though. I don't want to buy groceries and lose a whole another refrigerator of groceries again. The technician did the best he could but he said it may or may not hold. AHS is definitely great and the serviceman said that it's a really good company so that made me feel good.

Our water heater went out and about two weeks later, the garbage disposal went out. I got over the phone and called up American Home Shield. And then the contractors suddenly came. Both contractors were good to go and were knowledgeable about the product. Moreover, they were in and out and did the work quickly. The water heater cost me an extra $400 since they had to do some modification. They did some work on the fuel lines and the water lines, but it didn't seem like $400 of work. But the water heater got replaced as well as the garbage disposal.

My HVAC's fan belt did the most horrendous screeching noise ever. I can't use my heater because everyone in the neighborhood can hear its horrible metal on metal sound. AHS sent somebody out once and they said, “Oh, there's nothing wrong with it. You just turned it on for the first time.” But then the next time I turned it on it did again. It would start doing it at 1:00 in the morning because there's only a couple of times when it was really cold enough to turn the heat on. The tech came out today to replace the compressor motor and one of the fan blades on either condenser or compressor.

Submitting the claim has been easy. We paid the first initial service fee and then when we had to call them back out. They didn’t charge us for that because they hadn’t fixed what was wrong. They kind of formed it out and had the air people call back quickly after we called and submitted the claim. The first tech that came was a friendly guy. He ran some tests but said that there was nothing wrong but the second tech that came out took the top off of the compressor unit and immediately saw that the motor was messed up. There was a coil and he's like, “That should be inside this unit,” and it was kind of hanging down so it sounded like ball bearings screeching. He had to order the piece, so the guy that came out today was actually installing. This was the same company but the third different guy that came out. AHS has been good so far.

And then, an electronic thing went up and a week later, he came back but it was a holiday and he was on vacation so they had to call another company. They were okay and they told me to call BGE because there's a leak but they didn't return my call. I called BGE anyway and they came and fixed half of the leak, and now it’s off again. I’m in the cold right now and so BGE will come back tomorrow and hopefully, it would work this time. If not, then I might have to call back if it’s not a BGE issue again.

I recently had a plumbing issue outside the house. I submitted the claim online and it was nice and easy. The tech called within two hours and made up the schedule. He came out and did something where he disconnected our sprinkler, and so the sprinkler system wouldn’t work. When we tried contacting them back to say that it wasn’t working, the person that we talked to on the phone said that they’re not sprinkler people. The sprinkler was working fine the week before the tech came here. I was told that it was not their problem. We had to get another guy to come out here and do that, and it was a nightmare. It cost another $200.

The contractors were extremely nice, although some of them didn’t know anything about sprinklers. I’m also not a big fan of the person that American Home Shield first sent out and the company that completely screwed us over. We had to pay more money to have the sprinkler fixed. But American Home Shield was awesome and they were friendly and informative. I’m extremely satisfied with them. They cover a wide variety of stuff inside the house and outside and they’re really good at getting in contact with you right away regarding your issue. They send out the appropriate person to fix the issue.

Filing a claim with American Home Shield was incredibly easy and quick. I talked to at least two customer service reps and they were polite and great at explaining what needed to be done. I couldn’t be happier. I had Old Republic before AHS and I cannot say the same about them.

The contractor that AHS sent out was super nice when he came out, however, we had a little bit of trouble getting a follow up appointment scheduled. They didn’t proactively reach out to us and we ended up having to reach out to them. Also, there was some work that wasn’t covered and we wanted to pay to have it done ourselves. But when we asked for the price, it was double of what the other plumbers in the area were charging. We ended up having them do the warranty work but we went with a different plumbing company for the work we paid for. Unfortunately, we’re still having issues with our hot water. But it wasn't the plumber's fault. We’ve had people look at every single step in our system and the plumber fixed everything that was fixable.

We took me 2 and a 1/2 hours on the phone and a hold for the appliance customer service department to even get somebody to respond to me regarding my refrigerator replacements. I understand they're highly understaffed and I was told the average wait time is 2 to 2 and a 1/2 hours. That is true. This is now happened to me 2 times. I decided to let go of my frustration after I had a great customer service rep take care of me after the 2 1/2 hour wait. The replacement took approximately 30 days which was something that I was very upset about but chose to pick my fights.

This last Friday I was supposed to get my refrigerator but I had never received a confirmation of time of delivery. I have had 2 experiences with AHS, both were bad. This first was on a refrigerator ice maker for my Humble Texas home. When it went out I replaced it myself because it was cheaper than my $125.00 deductible. However, after replacing it, the icemaker still was not making ice so I contacted AHS. I advised them that I had replaced the icemaker but it still did not work.

They scheduled an appointment, I work 30 miles from the home, and I took time off to have this corrected. When the tech called to tell me he would be there, I told him what I had already done as well. Side note, I have a friend who owns a refrigeration company and he told me LG has a well known problem with water lines freezing up in the door. The fix, according to him, was to replace the door.

The technician came out and replaced the ice maker again, despite the fact that I had already done so. He advised me to call him if it didn't fix the problem... It didn't so I called. He told me he would order a part and return, he did not say what part he was ordering. When it finally came in, he called and scheduled another appointment which I had to take more time off work to address. This time 2 other techs were there to install a water valve. After over an hour, they said the water valve they were sent was defective but they had verified that was DEFINITELY the problem. They ordered another one and would contact me when it came in. Again, I had advised them of my friend's comment regarding the freezer door... Which they ignored.

That evening, I noticed the black stainless coating on the freezer door was peeling. I contacted LG and they scheduled someone to come out and look at the door. He came out on a Saturday saving me from taking more time off work and promptly ordered a new freezer door. A few days later, the tech contracted by AHS called me to schedule an appointment to install the new water valve. I took off work again and met them. They installed the part and assured me that there was "nothing else it could be". Well, they were wrong again... The icemaker still did not work. This time, I did not call them because I knew LG had ordered a new door that would likely fix my problem. It came in a few days later and the tech installed it. Lo and behold, I now have an ice maker that works... No thanks to AHS and their contracted technicians. All's well that ends well except I'm out the $125.00 for the deductible plus multiple trips and wasted time off from work.

My second experience with them is on a home we purchased about a month ago. We purchased another AHS contract and included pool equipment in the contract. The home went through a vigorous home inspection where the inspector verified all the equipment was in working order. He did not take off panels from the equipment, but simply verified everything was functioning. The other day, I tried to use the pool heater but could not get it to light. I contacted the company that performed the inspection and he verified that it lit during the inspection, but he came out again and checked.

Again, he got it to light but turned it back off since no one was home and he didn't want to leave it on without someone there. I tried the next day and it would not light so I called him back. He immediately came over but this time he could not get it to light either. Note: my son-in-law SAW him during the original inspection get it to light. I then contacted AHS and requested service. The technician contacted me and showed up early that morning. Since this home is much closer, I decided to meet him there. He was finished in minutes because he called me and told me not to bother driving over. He said that there was corrosion in the unit from the chlorine tabs, which he said is common, that had caused problems with the unit. He also stated he didn't believe the inspector ever got it to light, though I now know for a fact he did because of my son-in-law's comments.

I received a call this morning from AHS to let me know that corrosion from chemicals is "not normal and not covered". I have verified through multiple pool technicians that this in fact IS common, though I'm quite sure there's an exclusion in the contract regarding corrosion. At any rate, I'm not satisfied with AHS at this time because I paid $125.00 for the refrigerator deductible and a $75.00 deductible for the pool heater, and neither one was covered.

They require that the fee be paid at the time of the service request so there was no option here. I'm not sure what I'd like from them other than refunds of my deductibles, though a betterment toward another pool heater would be more satisfactory, but I'm sure that's not going to happen. All I can say is that I would not, at this time, recommend AHS to anyone. Their technicians seem to be lacking in knowledge and I guess they will make up any claims through non-covered claim deductibles.

My biggest thing with American Home Shield is that their contractors are oftentimes not good. Every now and then, I get lucky, like with this guy. He’s from the same service company I had before and last time, he was very rude but he was okay this time. The claim was for the original dryer from my house that’s 20 years old. It wouldn’t tumble and the contractor pulled out a clump that looked like a little piece of styrofoam. Additionally, the knob had been broken off for years so I can't use it because I have to take pliers and crank the little metal thing. It's not a big deal. You just have to open the door but I don't know if I’m on hot dry or cool dry because there's no dial. But he said AHS doesn’t cover that. There are also a lot of things that they don't cover. I think I have the middle contract and I bumped it up a while ago. But the ice machine on my brand new refrigerator is not working and it’s not covered either.

Contractors have also come out multiple times and fixed my dishwasher. They would say it’s this, that or the other thing but then it would break again. And my deductible has gone up every time. It used to be $45 or $50 and now it’s $75. The worst story ever is that my water heater broke and they replaced it but in two years, the second one went out. The other one had been there for 12 years and they’re supposed to last more than two years. The contractor came and told me that he had to have a license, which I would have to pay $75 for, and that he would charge me $75 to dispose of it. There were some other fees he tacked on as well.

First of all, I called the Contractors Board and they said nobody ever gets a license and I could come down and get one myself. The first guy didn’t do it so I had to take time off from work, go down and get a license myself for $25. Then I called Silver State Disposal which is my garbage company and they told me they would dispose of it for free. I had to argue with the contractor about that because they said they were obligated to take it off the premises. But I said they were not. They were totally just trying to rip me off. So you really have to be savvy and not be gullible.

I’ve been paying American Home Shield for 15 years faithfully and got subpar contractors the majority of the time. I think basically they put out a bid and get whoever the cheapest contractor is. So I’m not thrilled with American Home Shield but I'm afraid to start over with anyone because of the age of my home and I don’t know if there might be a grace period. What if my heating and air conditioning go out? But it’s okay. It’s better than not having the warranty. American Home Shield is not horrific and I have had some good stuff as well. When a contractor came out for my garage door, there was no issue and they gave me good service.

But the other thing is, when you have to speak with a person, you can hold for an hour. But now they have an automated system. The would ask what appliance you’re calling about and you’ll say like, “Gas dryer.” Then they ask if you want a phone call or a text message, then they give you a provider. And the good thing is if you don't want a particular provider because you’ve had bad service from them, you can request another before they come. The providers also normally do call within the 24 or 48-hour period that they’re allowed to call back and make an appointment. And you usually get an appointment within a reasonable time. That’s the only good thing about them.

We have a condo that we purchased in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. I've looked at other warranty programs and American Home Shield was set up by my realtor and he recommended them. I've seen their name and I did a little background homework on them and they seemed to have a pretty good reputation. The first time around, I had a dishwasher that would not empty the water, so the guy came out and fixed it. The second one was for an air conditioning. It would not cool down so I suspected it had a leak. The guy came out and confirmed there was a couple of leaks in the coil. So he took it out, took it to the shop, repaired it and put it back. It was great for 75 bucks, but I paid almost $1,000 for the refrigerant recharge. It's only covered for $10 a pound under that warranty and it's the old R22 system. Probably, in three or five years, I would have to replace the entire thing.

The contractor, KC, was very professional and was on time. They contacted me like I had asked a couple of days ahead of time and gave me time to set up my daughter, who let him in, to take off some work. They were great so I have no complaints. American Home Shield has been very responsive. They lived up to the terms and contacted me when I first submitted my claim. I did both claims online and it was easy. Both times they said someone will contact me within 48 hours and someone did the next day.

We had a pleasant experience with our recent claim with American Home Shield. It was an issue with the washer and we filed the claim online. I made a big mistake one time and did it by phone. I waited a couple of hours before somebody spoke to me. However, once you talked to them, everything was good. On the other hand, their technician was professional.

I submitted the claim online and American Home Shield emailed me right away. They told me that somebody was coming out and I got it right away what company had been sent. However, the issue was really not electrical, and it was really stupid. All I had to do was tighten up the plate. It took the contractor a whole two minutes to do that and I didn’t know then, and from that, I paid $75. The plate that held the socket together was just loose, and there was nothing else wrong with it. It was a no-brainer but I didn’t want to take any chance. But the contractor that was here was great. He’s been out here before. He said I don’t have to keep taking that plug out of the wall. I have a lamp there and he said to just use the switch. He showed me how my switch was connected to that stuff and that info was very helpful to me.

He seemed knowledgeable and ordered a part. And then, he came in and put the part in a week later and all is well. So far, I’m very happy with AHS. We’ve had it for about four months now and have had two things fixed already. Everybody has been great and I’d recommend AHS to others.

Our toilet had a major failure that caused leaking and it flooded our house. It was pretty easy to use the American Home Shield website and they scheduled me with a provider quickly. They had someone sent out within three days. It wasn't super fast and it wouldn't be my favorite in an emergency situation, but it was okay. The tech was able to fix the issues within an hour. While they were able to fix what was wrong with it, now we have to actually repair and replace the toilet. I have a friend who’s buying a house and I have recommended AHS. As far as home warranties go, it’s pretty good. When we bought our house, it was specified to purchase an American Home Shield warranty but the realtor purchased a different brand. We were so unhappy with them that I made her buy us a new one with American Home Shield.

American Home Shield is a nice company to deal with. I've always been pleased with what they have done for me as far as fixing things. I called them to have a faucet replaced and the contractor was very nice and knowledgeable. He did a nice job for me and it was nice to have the bathroom sink back. The only problem that I have is that sometimes I have a problem, particularly toilets that are leaking in the tank but they don’t do it while the guy is here so it doesn’t get fixed. It's like going to the doctor and then it doesn’t hurt anymore. But that’s not their fault. That's just the way things are.

I’ve had several claims made to American Home Shield, but the most recent one was with the washing machine. I call in and there’s an automated choice of saying what’s wrong and then they’ll give me the vendor or the vendor will call me. The last contractor sent by AHS was very reputable. When he came out to do the washer, he said he was going to try and do what he can. He said it could be just the washing machine that’s not doing it anymore, and it may be something we got to get replaced. I need somebody to come out and take a look at that again.

I’m still having problems with the washing machine, which is not really his fault. The machine doesn’t rinse out the clothes. There are four different cycles that we have, but the last spin and drain, it doesn’t want to take all the water out of the clothes so my clothes are wet. And I’ve got to run it twice in that last cycle. This has been part of the original problem. I’ve had two calls on it, and the technician came out and replaced the balancers. It helped with the clothes not getting so tangled up inside, but I’ve noticed that it still doesn’t want to drain completely. My washer is downstairs so I have to go down and reset it again. Then, go back and get my work done. Go down again to make sure it was drained, so it’s a nuisance.

A different vendor has been out twice to try and fix that. American Home Shield has sent out before him, and when I kept complaining, they sent a new contractor out. And he said again that the shock thing was bad so he was going to replace those. It took care of some of the problems, but I still have that other problem. AHS had some vendors who came out of the South Phoenix area, and they were horrible with our toilets and the refrigerator. Also, I had 14 calls on the hot water heater before we finally had a third vendor come out. He said that the hot water heater was shot and when they took it all apart, they found out it was shot. Then why it took that other company to send them out that many times that I was almost to the point of wanting to cancel American Home Shield.

The heat stopped working and I filed a claim with American Home Shield on the same day. I called their customer service and the rep was helpful and she made it easy. She took all the information and then, gave me the information of who was gonna come and take a look. However, I thought he would respond in 24 hours but the contractor didn't call until two days later. I had to call and text him. I asked if he was gonna show up or not. He said that he would come the following day. It took a few days for him to respond. It was cold and I have kids. If a contractor couldn't serve the customer in 24 hours, especially when it's cold and the issue is about heat and there are kids in the house, AHS shouldn't work with them.

When the contractor showed up, he figured out what was wrong and said he had to order a part. Then he didn't show up the next day. I had to call him again and he said that he had a family emergency which I understood. He promised that he will come and fix it the next day and he did. He was very cool when he came back and he changed the part. He made sure it was working and said to let him know if I had any problems. I've told friends that it's a very good idea to have an extra warranty in their houses. AHS will respond and send somebody right away. All you have to pay is $120. In general, I'm very happy with AHS and the service they provide.

I had a plumbing issue that AHS could not resolve. The contractor they sent didn’t take the time to look for the cleanout drain. And they said they couldn’t go on the roof. They didn’t want to look on the side of the house. They didn’t want to look under the house because it’s a crawlspace and they said they weren’t allowed to do that so call somebody else who could. It was horrible.

I can put it in on the internet and in my records to tell them not to send a specific plumber to my house because I had an awful time with them. But yet, they assigned that plumber to come again. And I tried to call them and I stayed on hold waiting for someone to answer for probably 45 minutes. The first time I sat on hold for that length of time, I got a guy who said I can cancel it but I can’t reassign it to another vendor. And he said “So if you want me to cancel it, I can cancel it. But you will have to call again and sit on hold for 45 minutes and wait on somebody.

I said, "Thank you very much” and hung up. So I ended up the next day calling them back, sitting on hold for 30 to 45 minutes again. I got a nice young lady who said “Certainly. I’ll just change it over.” So she redirected it and said “Yes, it’s in your records that the specific plumber is not supposed to be sent to your house and I’m sorry. We’ll fix it." If I go back to the time before when I put in a request, I sat on the phone for over an hour. I have had American Home Shield for nine years and this is the first year that it has been absolutely horrible.

I have American Home Shield on three houses. So it’s getting worse and worse. If it continues and doesn’t improve, I will take all three of my contracts and move them. The guy that was there has been in my house many, many times and he was really, really good. He told me, “I suggest that you go ahead and call Roto-Rooter and they’ll be out there immediately and get it cleaned out.” It was late in the afternoon already. He said that they’ll come out any time, day or night. So they came on out and unclogged it.

AHS called me the next day and said they were scheduling someone to come out again. And I said “There’s no need to. I’ve already got it fixed.” So I said “You know, you guys come in one of the three of my houses all of the time. Are you really going to charge me that $75 for the guy to walk in and say ‘Oh, I can’t do anything'?” And she said, “Yup” and hung up. They also need to do something about their hold times and their agents on the phone because the one that I talked to clearly didn’t know what the American Home Shield policy was as far as fixing it. They need to do something about their call center. They either have a totally understaffed call center or they don’t care.

It was a leak issue and we were not getting enough water flow. But he was prompt once he got the parts. I was very pleased and he explained what the next steps I needed to take so it was very clear and easy.

The fridge is still slow but that is something that is not covered by American Home Shield and we would have to pay for ourselves to fix as they said. I noticed a leak on my wall because it bluffed and it may have been leaking a little longer than I noticed. I called American Home Shield and they sent out a plumber from Advanced Home Service. He turned off the hot water on one sink and told me that there was some part that he might have to sit down and get. And if they didn’t have the part, they had to give me something new for that. He said that their office would be contacting me about it. Meanwhile, I couldn't use the sink in the kitchen and the other one where he turned off the hot water.

His office texted me on the 16th that they would be notifying me of any update within 24 hours. But that did not happen so I texted them back. Still, they did not respond. So on the 20th, I called them back and the lady I talked to said that the job was done. I told her it wasn’t then she talked to the technician and later texted me that the tech would be coming out. If I hadn't called them, it would have taken longer than that. So, I had a problem with the people in their office. If the employee told me that the office would be contacting me in 24 hours, then they should contact me and I shouldn’t have to contact them. I also had a nickel chrome faucet that they had to take out. I knew it was expensive and that I would have to help to have the same thing put in, but they didn't do that. They got me the cheapest one. But if I had a nickel plated faucet that was taken out, they should have put one back in.

After that, the contractor repaired the leak and now I can use my kitchen sink. I can also use the other sink where he turned off the hot water because that was where the leak was. When my grandkids wash their hands, they use hot water. So, the repair helped a lot. I have been happy with American Home Shield because in the past, their people came out fast. When they said they would be doing something, they did it. And when their guy said that someone would be calling me, it happened.

I called to AHS the day after Thanksgiving and reported four different plumbing issues. One of the issues was that my shower was not draining, so a tech came out and he drained the shower. The other issues were, the showerhead leaking, the kitchen faucet, the bathroom faucet was dripping, and in my kitchen, I had a leak that was going down into the cabinet. The tech claimed that he doesn’t know anything about the other issues and he’s only there to do the drain, so I said, “I don’t know what to tell you but I called everything in.”

He calls dispatch for American Home Shield and I speak to that gentleman on the phone, he hands me his cellphone, and that gentleman proceeds to tell me that, “I don’t have anything written down.” I said, "The fact that you don’t have anything written down doesn’t mean I didn’t call it in.” And went round and round there. I called back, so now we’re to wait another week and they’re gonna send a different company out now. This guy is due on a Friday, between 11 and 4 so I had to take off work to meet him because I have to make myself available and they can’t come around my time.

I waited and he calls and tells me he’s running late. He shows up at 3:30. The company is based out in Riverside and I’m in Fullerton on a Friday, so he walks in here and I show him what needs to be done and I sit down. He comes back out in about 10 minutes, hands me a piece of paper, tells me to sign it, and he leaves. And I said, “Aren’t you gonna fix anything?” He goes, “I’m just doing an assessment.” I didn’t know I had to go through an assessment and I was livid. I feel that he did that just so he can get on that damn freeway on a Friday night because it backs up and you’re gonna be on that freeway for a couple of hours to get home to Riverside. I call in and I complain, the gentleman on the phone said, “You can get a second opinion but you’re gonna have to pay for it.”

I was freakin’ furious, so I called back to the complaints department and she listened to me and she said, “Would you like to have a second opinion?” I said okay. What he wrote in that paper was that he turned that assessment in to American Home Shield and they decided that all four of my claims, they couldn’t warrant them for various reasons. They told me that the showerhead dripping was due to the water pressure. However, the gentleman that checked the water pressure never went outside. I didn’t see him with any kind of a dial. I have checked the water pressure in the past at my house and I know what you need to do and he did not do that.

He claimed that the drip in the bathroom sink just goes drip, drip, drip like any old faucet does. It’s probably a bunch of calcium built up and if you just replaced the faucet it would probably stop dripping. He claimed that was due to some kind of water pressure problem. And then my kitchen, he claimed it was due to the spray hose that goes back into the faucet. We pull it down and then there’s the spray hose and sure enough, there was a leak there and I knew about that but I didn’t know if that was causing the leak down below.

My son had put some tape on there because it would spray you in the eye. He came and his claim on that one was not normal wear and tear so I said to the other company when I called in, “What else am I doing with this thing? You pull it out, you spray your dishes, and it goes back into the faucet. How can you do anything with it that’s not normal wear and tear?” Furthermore, it’s a Moen faucet and Moen has a lifetime guarantee. I could potentially fix it myself. I also called in my garbage disposal. One of the little knife things in there had come off. This guy wrote down that they’re not gonna warrant the garbage disposal because there’s no GFI, so I verify that with the electrical code.

The electrical code specifically states that a garbage disposal does not need a GFI. Furthermore, if I stick a fork down my garbage disposal and I turned it on, the garbage disposal turns off. Until you get in there manually down below, and unlock the knives, and pull the fork out, and tighten it back out again, it will never work. It doesn’t need a backup safety device so all of it was a big lie. They offered to send a second opinion out. I wasn’t here because I took two days off of work to deal with these people and I got nothing done, and my plumbing issues still aren’t done, and this is since Thanksgiving. The second guy comes out and my son was here. At that point, when the second guy came in, I added my toilet because on occasion when you flush it, it just keeps running and running.

The tech came out, I heard nothing, had no paperwork, I got some letters in the mail. They denied everything again so, as far as I’m concerned that company doesn’t do what they claim that they do. If they cannot fix a faucet that is dripping, then what plumbing can they fix? All of my issues were very simple plumbing issues and they denied all of them. It is the worst company in the world. What they do diligently is that they never called me after the second opinion. I got some letters in the mail and I read one of them. I didn’t even bother opening the rest. I just said I’m done with these people. I went to my bank and said, “I want the money back that I paid them.” I reported them and I need to fill out some paperwork.

I want all my money back from AHS. They are the worst of the worst. I don’t know what they do cover and they claim you can customize it and that’s why I chose them. I submitted the claim online and there’s nowhere online that tells you that anybody is gonna assess. I had a home warranty company the first year I bought the house and I never heard of such a thing. We got a service guy standing in my house saying, “I don’t know anything about those repairs.” Luckily he got through on his cellphone. The last time, I called to try to cancel my service. I was on hold for 45 minutes. Every time I’ve called them, it’s over 30 minutes on hold before you even talk to anybody. It’s absolutely absurd, so I’m not talking to them. I’m not cancelling my service, but they’re not getting another penny out of me.

My hot water heater had a leak, plus it needed to be changed out because it had a lot of rust on it. I had no problem submitting the claim to AHS over the internet. The next morning at around 10, someone called me and set up an appointment. The contractors were very courteous. They came, looked at it and took some pictures. They were very knowledgeable and concerned. They made sure everything was cut off and that it was safe. However, it took a few days longer than I would have preferred because they had to first get permission to change it out. Secondly, they had to order in the actual hot water heater. But as soon as it came in, they installed it in about three hours. The whole process took about four working days. Other than that, I find that AHS is prompt about the action that they're going to take.

However, I have a concern about the explanation of what they will actually take care of and what they want. They paid for the hot water heater without any problem at all. But the heated set was different than the one I had in there. They had to change out some of the fittings and some of the actual piping and I had to pay that out of pocket. The hot water heater had been in this home for 15 years. Things have truly changed out there in the world and it was just one of those things that I had to do. I also have some questions on the air conditioning central unit, things which are large but have been here for such a long time.

I understood the reasoning for what they said about it, but I didn't necessarily agree with the idea of them having a hot water heater installed and they wouldn't want to put certain things from the old hot water heater on it that may cause it to fail. I would like to see them include that because whenever they come out, they charge a fee of $75. If they were to put the old stuff back and have any problems, then I'd have to contact them again and see if they would contribute anything towards that. I wish they had a professional plumber that gives the word after looking at the pictures, "We will take care of that. And these other things that we see, they seem like they can be used again." And so we won't pay for them.

Other than that, I've used AHS more than one time and I found it to be very easy. They're always dependable. So far, the service people that they have sent out for us have always been courteous and have taken care of the problem. I have recommended AHS to my sister. I have no problem with what I've paid for and what services they give me.

Whenever I report any problem, it takes a couple of months to get it fixed. I had a service request four months back and it took more than one and a half months to get my refrigerator fixed. I did not have any backup option unless it was fixed and that was a big concern for me. I tried to reach out to American Home Shield multiple times but I didn’t get good response. Usually it takes one hour to reach somebody to talk to. So they need to make sure that there is some person available for the calls for service request. They do have online service request where we can create a service request and that’s a good thing to have but we cannot provide a lot of information there. When we try to reach out to get more information, they just put a message that says, “Okay, call back the service desk to provide more information.” Then when I call, it takes almost one hour to reach them.

The refrigerator claim involved multiple technicians from different companies. The first contractor sent a technician almost four times and getting an appointment with them took 15 days. So it was a long process. They did multiple fixes but the refrigerator did not get fixed. Finally, American Home Shield found some other contractor who could come and fix it and that was when the thing started working. The problem is that I don’t have any other vendors who can take care of multiple appliances, only Home Shield has that and that was why I went with them. Our garage door's torsion springs snapped. I submitted a claim for it with American Home Shield online and it was very easy. The contractor that they sent was very friendly and knowledgeable. He hasn't finished the repair yet though. He put a temporary fix to make it still be able to open. But so far, so good. He’s supposed to get back with me once the parts come in. I’m really happy with the service that AHS has provided. This garage door created an issue though. They're calling it the lift springs, so basically, the power. The motor provides a little bit, but more so, it provides movement and that the door's supposed to be gimballed, so it's basically weightless using the springs. Without the springs, the door doesn't open. But they're calling these springs as not part of the opening apparatus. So, they're telling me it's not covered, but we're discussing it.

It has been great. But if I have to call them, the customer service is awful. I’m put on hold for a long period of time when getting a hold of them. And when I got in touch with somebody, the rep was not very helpful and wasn't very friendly. I’ve carried American Home Shield for about four or five years now and I've had some very good experiences as well as very bad experiences with them. We've used the warranty fairly often, so it's been valuable. I'd tell my friends that American Home Shield hasn't been bad but if they look around, they might find somebody that's a little bit better with customer service.

It’s not the best but I’ve done services that are worse so it’s okay. There were no difficulties with American Home Shield and everything was easy and scheduled. They’re prompt and know what they do but it was hard to get to a live person. That is impossible and so everything was filed online. The experience is good but you cannot talk to customer service at all if you need something changed or discussed. Last time, I just wanted to ask a few questions if I can get to change the company but there is no information to contact them as well and you just email them. They're scared to talk to people.

American Home Shield has been good. The price keeps creeping up although we've used it. We've been on it for a long time now and had replaced both the refrigerator and the dishwasher with it, so it has been worth it. We filed a claim when the ice machine of the refrigerator was broken and it wasn't producing ice. Submitting the claim was a typical web form thing. But I wish the process was a little more granular and that I am able to say it's my ice maker than have it come back and tell me right away that it wasn't part of my contract.

The contractor that was sent by American Home Shield was very professional. He opened up the unit and looked around, poked at it, tried to get it adjusted, and said that it was jammed. He could unjam it but it would probably break it. The thermostat was broken anyway and there was nothing that he could do to fix it. It would cost only $305 to fix it. I went with him, he ordered the parts and it took about two weeks getting them and trying to get the ice machine fixed. We used ice enough that I didn't want to mess with what they were trying to do. I can't go back to cubes in trays. I've recommended American Home Shield to other people who were looking for a home warranty.

Recently, we had a heating issue with both our units upstairs and downstairs at the same time. I called American Home Shield and spoke with an agent, and I had to wait a while because I never remember my membership control number to punch into the phone system. So, I end up having to wait until someone comes onto the line to verify my address and phone number. But AHS sends a contractor out always at a fast turnaround.

The recent contractors came out, looked at the issue and did what needed to be done, which was to put a band-aid on it. We ended up calling them back the next day for them to come back and look at it again. The guys reviewed it and realized that it needed a part. So, they ordered a part and came back and replaced it. The heating is working fine now. The technicians sent were very professional and friendly. I had not heard of that particular company prior to AHS sending them out but they were excellent. Their communication was great. Also, they were knowledgeable about the problem.

We've been with American Home Shield for five years, and all of our scenarios didn't work out so quickly and easily. On one hand, AHS doesn't necessarily fix the problem the first time. They usually will put a lot of band-aids on it to satisfy the situation. On the other hand, they send good people out and they've all been friendly. We've worked with various groups in the area, all predominantly around the same issue. I'd definitely recommend AHS to family and friends, though sometimes the solution is obvious but they don't fix the problem immediately.

My furnace was freezing and I've already had multiple claims with American Home Shield on it. Originally, I filed my claim online, which was easy. Then after that, I had to call them, however, it's sometimes difficult to get through. I liked the contractors they've sent. However, the problem has been ongoing. They would come, the furnace would work, and then it would cut off. They would come back and do something else. It would work, then it would cut off again. I called and they said they were gonna talk to American Home Shield to see if the unit had to be replaced. We had some rain and they said the office was closed and never got back to me.

I had a terrible experience with American Home Shield that finally got resolved. I was gonna have appliances replaced two years ago. They just bought it out because I didn’t want what they had to offer. I didn’t have enough money to add to what they were gonna pay me then when I bought it, so I didn’t get anything. Then when I finally was able to get something, I got a quote from American Home Shield that was very reasonable compared to what I knew the appliance cost so I called back later to provide my credit card to pay for it.

They quoted me the same price as it was in the store and that went on for a while. I finally had to reach out to our real estate agent. I also reached out to one of the regional managers that we worked with when we referred clients that sold a home. They were able to get somebody else to talk. I had it recorded when the manager told me they were gonna honor the quoted price that the lady had given me. But when I called the people to do it, they just kept insisting, “No". I even let them listen to the message that the manager had left. But I was finally able to get that appliance at the price they quoted me because I did not let it go.

When I first bought the house, the warranty came with it, which was typical. And when I had an electrical issue and I repaired it myself, I realized that I should have called American Home Shield because I had coverage but that was within a week.

I called AHS and they told me to submit the receipt and they’d see what they could do. I submitted everything they asked for and they told me to follow up within a couple of weeks. I talked to a person a couple of times and after I kept following up, they never told me what they decided. They just said they would not reimburse me even a portion of my expense. So, I felt like it was fraud and the coverage was useless.

I filed a claim to American Home Shield recently for my furnace. The process was easy but I had to wait for 40 minutes on hold on the phone. But when I finally got a hold of them, they were pretty fast and accommodating. They put in the request and they said a contractor was going to contact me. And then by the end of the day, somebody had already emailed me that they were going to come.

The first guy that came out didn't see anything wrong with the furnace and he said he'll leave the ticket open and he left. But our furnace was one of those things where as soon as he leaves, the symptom occurs. When he was there, it looked fine but as soon as he left that same night when it got cold it wouldn’t work. So every morning when I got up, it was like 67 degrees in the house. I had set it at 70, 71, 72 during the night and when I wake in the morning it's 62. The same thing kept happening. And then I noticed that American Home Shield charged my account. It was $125 and the guy was there 15 minutes and he didn’t do anything. But I've got to get this thing fixed because it's going to start getting cold pretty soon.

So I called American Home Shield again and then they sent the second guy out and I told him that when I wiggle the wire, the furnace works. But I don’t feel like waking up at two in the morning or at midnight to wiggle the wire to make it work every day. And then he started wiggling the wire and he said the gas valve was bad so he ordered a gas valve and he placed it in and the furnace has been working perfectly. And American Home Shield didn't charge me the second time around. The two contractors that came out were both friendly. The first one didn't do anything but the second one was polite and professional and he did a good job. American Home Shield is a pretty good policy. If something breaks you have to spend outrageously high amounts of money. So this is a good insurance to have and I would tell my friends to go ahead and get it.

I was very pleased with my American Home Shield experience. I usually contact them by phone when I submit a claim and I pay the payment when I make the appointment. The last claim I had was for the sink. And the last couple of times that the contractors did the service, I’ve been very pleased. They were knowledgeable even when I had the water heater.

The only problem was the warranty didn't cover all the extra steps even though they take part in the water heater. The contractor got a permit and everything else and that cost $75. So even though they took care of the water heater, it still cost me $600 because of the upgrade because they didn't pay for that. But the permit and stuff were normal and if I get a 40 gallons water heater replaced it's $1,300 out of pocket expense if I didn't have an insurance or the warranty. But I got by by paying $640.

They ended up putting a brand new hot water heater. All that the contractor did was replace some seals in the faucets. He had to change one of the fittings up there because he didn't have the seals to fit it. It was hard for me to get around a little bit so I just let them do it. The last couple of things had been good. I had them come one time because the faucets were leaking and they replaced seals and the faucets start leaking again and it was about four months. AHS has been fairly good. I had them out here one time for air conditioner but they got out two days later. In fact, the supervisor came and did mine and it was 7 o'clock at night. They were accommodating as much as they can be. I had good luck with AHS so far and I hope it stays that way.

I just moved into the house, so I’ve done a lot of new projects and I’ve used American Home Shield several times. Most recently, I had them repair my dining room lights. I submitted the claim on their website and it was super-easy. They were very friendly, to the point and professional. Moreover, they didn’t waste a lot of my time and didn't put me on hold.

The contractors have been okay and the work they've done has been good-quality. The electricians have been fine, but the plumbers have not been the best. As far as getting there and then estimating the job, they’ve been significantly off. Their contractors need to do a better job estimating when they get there. I don’t appreciate being led on with, “It’s only going cost this much,” and then it ends up being multiple visits. It cost me a lot more money than what they told me it would cost. In which case, I would have gotten bids to correct the problems that I had with the house rather than going through them. However, the repairs have been fine. The electrical has been spot on and the plumbing has been fairly good.

Overall I would tell friends to be careful with AHS. If it looks like it’s going to be a big project, it usually makes more sense to get bids rather than go through them. The process breaks down with the bigger repairs as far as how they send the jobs out to sub-contractors. They’re going to give a contractor that might be the one that’s available, not necessarily the one that’s going to give the best price. In addition, American Home Shield doesn’t cover a lot of stuff and one may end up having to pay above and beyond. But AHS is totally fine for small repairs.

So I would have to call back, have them removed and find somebody else. In addition, I would submit claims online because the wait when calling them on the phone is generally somewhere between 45 minutes to two hours. They are difficult to get a hold of when I need an actual person. But with the recent claim I did it took them within 24 hours to address the issue, which was not long.

I like the contractor that I typically request because they're very quick and efficient. Since the last repair there is a significant change in the pool pump. It's performing the way it's supposed to have been. It takes a while for AHS to work with me whenever I experience difficulties. I usually get it taken care of so, there's never been an issue where a concern that I have or a change that I need to make has not happened. So far, I haven't had any claims kicked back. Everything that I've submitted has been addressed and AHS is very good at covering what's under the contract.

Our A/C stopped working. I submitted a claim to American Home Shield over the phone and their rep was very nice. I was very pleased with the whole process. My husband dealt with the contractor who came out and he was pleased with the service. A few days after that, we had another problem and he called the technician. He came right away and fixed the problem. Since the repair, our AC has been working fine.

I went online to submit a claim for the vent with American Home Shield. Navigating through their website was good and I was able to submit the claim. A technician came out in two days and looked at it but I never heard anything back from anybody so I don't know if it was covered or not. Having a warranty is valuable as repairs get costly so American Home Shield is a good thing to have. I've had them for a year now, since I bought the house.

When I called to file a claim, the American Home Shield rep was a little short with me. It was impersonal and I felt like a transaction calling them. It wasn’t the most pleasant experience but she was efficient. The contractor that they sent was possibly one of the best contractors that I've had. Whatever American Home Shield does to screen their contractors, they did an excellent job. These guys were attentive and courteous. It was a really good experience with the contractors.

My ceiling fan was wobbling and my patio lights needed to be fixed, and the contractors came out twice. The first time, they found out that they had to go through drywall potentially and do some work. They had to get permission from American Home Shield before they could do something. They got the approval but they didn't wind up having to go through the drywall. They decided that they really didn’t have to and that they will just cover a replacement fan instead of having to get out a new one, so it worked out.

The pressure on my tub was low and the water was running really slow for about a couple of weeks. I put the claim with AHS on the internet and they called the plumber. Then the plumber called me back and set up the appointment. The contractors were very nice, polite and very courteous. They came out when they said they would and when they had a delay, they called me and let me know. I’m very pleased. The first time they came out, it was running fine and then, the problem started back again so I had to call them back out. They came out and they found something in the line. And the faucet is working fine now. American Home Shield has been doing great.

On the other hand, they should stop growing up on the rate so much because it deters people from coming in. People have asked me about AHS and I’ve told them that the work and the people that they have come out are very good, but the price is a little steep for some people to pay monthly. With mine, it is $50.99 and then, it’s a $100 deductible, but with new people, they’re charging a little more. I have friends that tell me that they would have joined, but with the way the economy is now, it’s a little steep for their budget to do every month. Other than that, AHS is a great company and they always respond whenever I call. I have recommended them to several of my friends when they asked me about it.

Every time I make a call to American Home Shield, it takes an hour to get a hold of them. Sometimes when they say they would call back, they wouldn’t and there’s no streamlined way to follow through a claim. I’m frustrated with their lack of availability. And not very much can be done with their online thing. You can schedule somebody to come out but you can’t really follow up on a claim or figure out where they are. There's so much that can't be done online that it's not that great. One time, I had a receipt that took me three weeks to get through them to find out where to mail it.

You're just doing with haphazard, whoever you get a hold of. And sometimes, they want very specific information that you don't have, like the exact model number. The appliances could be something that came with the house or that you bought 10 years ago. But you need the model number and they send people out to work on the fixtures. It’s just kind of disorganized and half the time they go, “We can’t fix it." And with the units they replace, most of the time, they won’t discuss the specifics in terms of size. So, you can’t really get a good idea of what they’re trying to send you until the very end.

I had a situation where they said they couldn’t fix my range. I tried to call them and it took hours and hours to get through to them and they said they were going to call me back. It was a holiday, so I replaced it. I had a new one delivered and I figured I would just cash out on it, whatever they would give me. But they said they couldn't determine what the unit was, even though somebody came out and fixed it. It was a GE Monogram but they couldn’t prove it was a GE Monogram. So, they wanted to give me 500 bucks for a $5,000 unit. Also, they erroneously recorded that they told me to take pictures of the thing and send it to them, which they never told me to do. But in some ways, it’s nice to be able to have somebody come out.

Dealing with their rep went well, but she tried to send me somebody from Huber Heights and Beaver Creek which were a lot farther away from my house. I asked them if there was anybody closer and then they finally found someone who is part of their association and in West Carrollton where I live. And he was the one that finally came and he was very pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful, congenial and he explained how it went and so on. He fixed all the pipes and the handles. But I didn’t realize that the sink was leaking too and I found out that AHS didn’t cover the sink, so he didn’t fix the sink. I had to go out and buy a sink and redo it. Other than that, AHS was very good and I was very pleased with my experience.

People don't realize that home ownership isn't cheap. You can't call a landlord and ask if he's going to fix a problem because you're the landlord. I got referred to American Home Shield by my mother and it's a warranty that has been proven. Everything that they do is great. I call American Home Shield a post-warranty insurance program because even though you've had something for 10 years, you could still get an insurance on it. They are all over the country and the warranty really works, so I've recommended it to a lot of people. I talked them up and told them that they needed it. It is the best thing in the world of insurance and insurance saves you a lot of money.

American Home Shield used to give a twice a year pre-service check on my AC, before the summer and the winter. But they discontinued it about two years ago because it was too costly. Now, I have to wait until something goes wrong with the AC before I can call in. I wish they would re-institute that policy again because in California where I am, you'd be going crazy if you didn't have an AC on. Last summer we had temperature at about 111 every day in two weeks. Then at that time when the AC would break down, everybody else's AC would be breaking down so the repair guys would be busy. So, the pre-service check was a good part of American Home Shield's service.

Other than that, I'm happy with them. When I had a problem with my stove, they gave me choices for its replacement. When the one that they sent didn't fit, they told me to put it aside and they sent another one. Then, when I had an issue with my refrigerator, the tech they sent out said that it wasn't his thing, so they could either replace the parts for that unit or American Home Shield would give me money so I could go get my own fridge and make up the difference. It would have been too ridiculous to pay that kind of money for a part so I told American Home Shield to send me the check and I went out and got a brand new refrigerator at a good sale over at Best Buy. Out of my pocket, it cost me a couple of hundred bucks. They also took care of my water heater which finally went out so it didn't cost me that much.

Recently, when my microwave wasn't heating up anymore, I called the 800 number for American Home Shield and they gave me the company that would be showing up. The contractor was great. He called and we set up a time. I asked him to come earlier and he did. Then he had the exact part in his truck for whatever was wrong with my microwave so he didn't have to order anything. He replaced the brand new part and he was in and out in 30 minutes.

Submitting claims over the phone can sometimes take an awfully long time. It was usually 20 minutes to half an hour. Doing it online is much easier and faster, and that was what I did when the washing machine flooded. It was filled but it kept filling and it didn't go to the next cycle. I got the response back saying that American Home Shield got my request for service and I will be contacted within 24 hours then the contractor contacted me.

The gentleman from Sears was wonderful and he got right to it. He listened to what I had to say and he told me what he thought the problem was. Then he looked at the machine and said that a part was needed. I got the parts in the mail yesterday and he said he'd be back tomorrow. I have to call and reschedule though. The washing machine flooded and caused more damage and now, we have the restoration people fixing things. That aside, American Home Shield has always been really good for the most part. We've had water heater problems and they've done really good by us. So I would recommend them.

I've been with American Home Shield for 12 years and I've kept with them for so long because of the ease. If something breaks, as long as the issue is covered by the warranty, I just call their 1-800 number and they arrange for everything else and do the rest of the effort. I was much comfortable in calling the reps. I told them my issue and it was pretty simple. They generally set me up with a contractor and I've never had a bad contractor. Although it wasn't the same contractors that I saw, I generally saw the same company that they worked with come out on an approval basis and I've worked with the Greenway company quite a bit.

Recently, I had an electrical issue in the house and four outlets quit working all at one time, and it turned out that a switch had gone bad. The contractor, Beacon Hill Electric, came out. Although I had never worked with Beacon before, their technician was fast and very personable. He walked me through what he was doing and all was good. American Home Shield has been doing everything pretty much as I asked them to do it. I'd recommend American Home Shield to everybody and I talk about them all the time. If you're a homeowner, it makes sense that you should have their warranty and as they call, you'll be happy.

I’ve been with AHS for quite some time now and they’re good. I would recommend them. When I use their website to file a claim, I need to put in more details when I have two things to put in. The first one is for the time and I can only choose one from the multiple choices available. They should have more options for that. Then, every time I call, it’s a long wait and I get different agents and representatives. Some of them tell me one thing but when I call back, they’re not in the know of what that last person had informed me with. Their representatives need to do a better job of saying what they’re going to do and document what they’ve told me. Also, sometimes they tell me that I’m not going to be charged but I end up being charged.

Recently, I filed one claim for my dryer and oven and they came out more than once to get those fixed. But the contractors that AHS sent were prompt and I give them an A on the communication part for when the parts would be ordered and when they were on their way. The technician put the part in my oven yesterday and now I have to bake something to see how it went.

I was having a bit of difficulty having American Home Shield approve a heater furnace repair. After the original technician went out and gave the diagnosis, American Home Shield immediately called me and they said it was not approved because there's an issue with it and that it was pre-existing. It was a crack on the box which can happen anytime. Based on the age of the unit, it's common. I had to get another guy to go out. I had to call back and tell American Home Shield that I wasn’t satisfied with the outcome and that I wanted another opinion. They told me that I will have to pay for another service if the people who will check it again say that it was a pre-existing condition and if they say it was not preexisting, I didn't have to pay. I went back and forth with them for over a month now. I had to struggle with them and I finally got results. This is the first time I have this experience with them.

I got a message yesterday that it got approved after having tried since February 20th and I got to call them and find out the details. They're telling me that I have to come up with about $2,000 when that's why I'm paying for insurance and they're supposed to take care of it. In the message that I received, they itemized things such as $400 for this, $300 for that, $200 for that and that the total is going to be $2,024. According to them, there are certain items that are not covered by the repair and while that may be true, the total amount doesn’t seem right to me, but then again, I don’t know anything about these things.

In the future, once I finish this year’s contract, I'm probably not going to go with American Home Shield anymore based on this bad experience that I'm having. I was going to pursue this issue legally if they wouldn't come with a resolution, but it looks like we're coming to a resolution. I just have to dig into the details of the $2,024 and see if it's fair or not. I have to call other contractors and see if that is normal.

That's when I filled out the service order online with American Home Shield. The technicians took 3 days to come out but they were professional and they texted me ahead of time, so they met my expectations. They replaced the thermostat but the temperature was less than whatever I was getting. Once they did the thermostat, I was only able to get it up to 86 which is 10 degrees less than what I had before. It was still coming on and still heating but it was coming up to less of the temperature that I had before. So, I had to do a recall. They tried to come to the property a couple of days ago but I didn’t unlock the gate so they're going to try to schedule again next week.

Aside from them, the other people American Home Shield uses do a great job and are always friendly. We've usually had a heating or air conditioning question and they always send the same people out. The heater quit last time where the power would light but the fan wouldn’t start blowing, and the technicians were out there the same day. It took them 10 minutes to fix the problem and it was great. Everything works out good with American Home Shield.

My refrigerator was not making ice. I had to go buy bags of ice and during those times, it was warm. Also, my washer was making such a loud noise every time we wash clothes. It was so loud we can't hear the TV. I have a three-story house and the washer is on the top floor and I can hear it down in the basement. I filed one claim for both appliances with American Home Shield online right off my cell phone and it was very easy. The website is convenient and is very easy to access. I can just pick whatever item I need to claim and describe what the problem is and send it in. I had a quick response. I had the local repair company give me a call within 24-48 hours and they came out in less than 24-48 hours.

The tech attempted to fix the icemaker first by clearing the line but that did not work because it only made one tray of ice. Then he had to come back out because he had to reorder a whole new part inside the icemaker. Once he got that part in, which took about a week, he came back out and replaced it and it has been doing fine since then. He told me that the washer’s bearings are gone and that according to AHS, they won’t replace it unless it stopped. So, I got to deal with all these loud noise every time I wash clothes until the thing stopped. I just wish that AHS comes with a different rule with their washer because it's very irritating. Their limitation on what they will and will not fix deters me a little bit. Other than that, it's a very good company and I recommend AHS to a friend.

I have been with American Home Shield for two years now and they have always been good. They always take my claims and handle them on time. I filed a claim for my appliance and the company they assigned it to was on time and they called me before they arrived at the appointment. After that, I called AHS due to a leak in my bathroom with the hose. They put my claim on time in a nice manner and sent me an email, but the subcontractor that AHS worked with took one week to give me an appointment which was not professional. If you call somebody to fix one problem, it should be in the next 24 or 48 hours. If not, then things will be worse. I'm going to have a flooding in the house before they come in to fix it.

I called AHS and canceled that claim because I couldn't wait for one week for somebody to fix the leaks in the bathroom. I called another plumber and paid out of my pocket. AHS has to be careful in choosing the company they are to work with. Other than that, everything was good. The people at AHS are always nice and responsible. Their customer service is polite all the time and they try to fix issues. I'd recommend American Home Shield.

I turned my furnace on this fall when it got cool and it wouldn't kick in. The burners started but the fan didn’t kick in and circulated around the house. Submitting the claim to AHS online wasn't difficult at all. The only thing is once they let me know who is going to come fix it, I went online and found they had a really bad rating. I called AHS to see if I could change it to somebody else and they didn’t want to do that. They wanted to give them a shot. I said, "Let's just give them a whirl." It wound up working out okay, but I wasn’t too happy about that part. Then I had other questions about it down the road, like what did they actually replace the stuff with, and they said comparable stuff, but I was wondering how that worked out.

Additionally, I like to talk to people a lot of the time and as far as getting a hold of AHS on the phone to talk to somebody, they put me on this hold as all their people were busy. Maybe they were, but it took forever. The first time I tried, I didn’t get a call back for the longest time, so I called again and then wound up getting hooked up. I wish they could make it easier for customers to contact them.

Other than the idea that it seemed like there was nothing I could do about changing the contractor, it was the first time I'd ever dealt with AHS, and their rep was polite and everything worked out pretty good. I happened to be there the day the contractor came, which was great. He did a really nice job. He was very thorough, fixed the problem, and away he went. The furnace has been working fine since. If I were to recommend AHS, I would say ask more questions upfront than what I did when I first took on the policy. Another thing is I asked for a contract in writing and then went ahead to download it online, which wasn’t so bad.

I've had a problem with our heater upstairs. In order to submit a claim, I just have to call American Home Shield but the wait time has been prolonged lately. Very long even for the people who come out. They were complaining how long they have to wait on the phone. I usually don’t have to wait a long time for that to happen. It's usually done within a couple of days. But the contractor guy came out, fixed everything and I would use him again. I just told him that I hate that he had to drive so far. I have a guy that usually works on our stuff, but for some reason, American Home Shield scheduled somebody two hours away to come work on it. But they fixed what we needed them to fix and they have been nice and trustworthy. However, I noticed that my rate went up a couple of dollars a month. It was 69 but it's 71 now. Other than that, I've recommended American Home Shield to several people.

I filed a claim with American Home Shield for the electrical in my oven. When the socket blew out, the whole light fixture fell out in my lower oven. The electrician that AHS sent out was great. He told me not to touch the raw wires that were exposed, which he said would knock me through the wall if I did. He had to order a part and took two weeks to get it. We were having a big party and I needed both ovens. He guaranteed that he’d have it fixed by then and he did.

I also spoke with AHS reps for my ref. I'm with real estate and Lisa is my rep in my office. She goes through a different line for the realtors, so usually she just tells me to call her and she'll put the call through. It makes filing the claim really easy. When I sold my son his house last year, Lisa saw that it was my son and she called him and she gave my son her personal number. The business line makes customers wait a long time, so she said that if he ever had to call them and he was on the phone for more than 10 minutes, hang up and call her. American Home Shield hit the jackpot with her. I tell all of my clients that American Home Shield is the best.

We didn’t get a callback or received any communication stating that no one picked up the order. My husband had to call and reach out to them to see what was going on.

The damage was really bad. We had to turn off the water on that side of the house and my son couldn’t use the whole bathroom. And since the water was still leaking out of the pipe even though the water was turned off, my husband had to take a hose and drain it into the tub so the water wouldn’t keep causing more damage than it did. That was going on from Saturday until the plumber came on Thursday. But the plumber who came out was very cordial and he explained everything. There were no hidden fees or upcharges, so that was good.

But I think they avoid doing a replacement because of their money. I have a home that was built 30 years ago and the contractors come and do as little as possible. They keep repairing the same burners when they should replace the whole thing and every time they come out, it’s a $75 charge. It has always been that way and I’m lucky that my things don’t break. They did replace my microwave and oven a few years back. But they had no choice because they couldn’t get parts and repair it. They couldn't buy the same model anymore. Right now my refrigerator, which is 20 years old, is starting to leak and it is definitely going to go to pot. I’ll see how they respond to that.

I filed a claim with AHS for the furnace of a rental home. I did it online but I spoke to the technician when the technician was there because the lady leasing the house got me in contact with him. Everything went perfect except that when you manage so much to save for a house their expectations are very high. Technician was great the way he performed but he couldn’t give me a better date about when he ordered the part and when he would come back and make the machine work.

So the lady who leased on the house kept calling me. I said “Look, I don’t have an answer.” Then she would give me a timeframe. It’s different in your own house but when the person is paying rent to you they don’t want to wait. The fact of the matter was the delay of the part because the machine was old. The manufacturers are out of town. So I think they have to find a better way to keep us informed about it.

The timeframe in between visits was about a couple of weeks or more. Usually they call somebody local and I know they sub-contract. And usually the local person would say “Okay, I’m going to come back in two, three or four days because I ordered the part from x and y or Amazon.” If you order a part, it’s just day or night shipment and you get it done ASAP. So overall the technician knew what he was doing. The technician found the problem right away. But between the time that he assessed then found the problem and the time he ordered the part it was too long.

I was changing the filter and I noticed a leak in the pool pump and it was spraying so much water that it was flooding a third area of my yard. It’s not good since it was draining the pool water and if the water gets too low, that can cause a major problem too so I submitted a claim online to American Home Shield. When the pool guy came to look at the pump, my boyfriend was there and he told us that it needed to be replaced and advised us of the time when he would come back. He also helped with this other issue that we were having with the pool that I didn’t submit a claim for and he didn't make a big deal. I had an automatic vacuum through the back. It was not suctioning very well and I thought it had something to do with the pump too. He told us the part that we needed and we ordered and paid for it on our own. He told us it was cheaper than ordering it through a pool company.

When the pool guy came back to install the pump, it was kind of funny because I got a service saying it’s been completed. I didn’t know they were coming for that part and because the pump could be accessed on our house outside, he went ahead and installed it. When I got home and went outside, there was a new pump. That was cool.

I first claimed from American Home Shield over the phone for my washer and found it a lot easier to do the claim online. I got a text from the service provider within a couple of minutes from when the claim was submitted. They were very communicative and scheduled me within a couple days. It was very efficient. However, the company that came to fix my washer was a different story because they came four times. Each time they came, I had to take off work to explain the problem again. I went without a washer for three months.

It took the fourth technician to report what the problem was. They replaced something with the motor in the wrong area that even the fourth technician was disappointed with his own company that the first technician didn’t do it appropriately. Then I got this random thing from American Home Shield saying that the washer was going to be replaced. If they fixed it right the first time, then American Home Shield wouldn’t have to buy a new washer. Plus, I had to call them back a lot.

Once we already submitted the claim, it was hard to call back in on that same appliance to update or share what was going on. I have a limited time during my work hours a day to talk to somebody and each time I would try to log on or call, they would think that it was a new claim. They were saying that they were going to order a part then there was a delay on that part and then they were saying they were short staffed. I would refer friends to American Home Shield but it would be better to get more information on what’s going on with the repair and taking action to call after the second visit from a service person.

My submersible well pump had been in for about 30 years and it basically died so I needed a new one. I submitted my claim online and had no problems with it at all. It’s always nice to talk to somebody but doing it over the phone is a hassle because I can never get through to anybody. It’s over an hour to wait and that’s ridiculous. But the process from submitting the claim online can take a while to get through to the contractors so I called the contractor, KP Ventures, to put them in the picture of what was going on. I left them a voicemail and they were out there the following day.

They first came out in January and replaced the pressure switch. It worked okay for about another month then they came out again and got it working but it kept tripping out. Even when turning on the water to clean my teeth, it would trip out. They advised me that it needed to be replaced so when I put the application in, they already had a fair idea of what was needed. They came out and took care of it. They were really good and it's a great company.

My microwave wasn’t working, so I called American Home Shield. When I submitted my claim, my interaction with the rep was fine and he said they'd get right on it. I had a prompt callback from a place that sent a workman out here because the microwave is built-in. The workman was an expert and he walked over to the microwave, hooked up a little instrument to it, and then he told me what was wrong. He said he had to go out to the car to get a part, then he went out and got it. He came back in, changed the part, and lickitty split, he was gone.

It was interesting how things all came together because it was going to be another week before my policy with American Home Shield ran out and I had forgotten that the microwave might be covered by the policy. I was up for renewal of my policy and my experience with that claim convinced me that the policy was worth it. So, not only did they fix the problem, but they also called back because I said I wanted to wait and see, and I renewed my policy with American Home Shield. It was a very satisfactory experience and I was very happy.

We had a problem with plumbing. We made the appointment online and got a call back within an hour. And the claim was taken care of very well and very easily. My brother was the one who interacted with the contractor and he said everything went well. The plumbing has been great since the repair. Overall, it was a good experience with American Home Shield.

My coverage with American Home Shield's competitor still hasn’t expired, but I got so fed up with them and I signed up with American Home Shield. Upfront, it was a bit expensive but it's worth it. Also, we didn’t add the appliances when we signed up because they are all brand new appliances and we have manufacturer's warranty the first year. Then sometime during the summer, we will add the kitchen appliances. I've been with American Home Shield for a few months now and it's pretty easy to submit a claim. I've always done it by phone and the wait time has been a few minutes.

Our air conditioner drain was not working but it wasn’t very serious. It was something that had been fixed before and my wife was shown how to drain it so that got fixed. But the first time the repairman came out from American Home Shield, he said the drain was clogged again. He blew it out then a couple of weeks later, another guy came out. He said it was the exact same problem but there was something that was not done about the corner of the plastic pipe. It should have been reconstructed in a different way. Apparently, my wife was draining the pipe but the drain itself wasn’t pumping in the turning part of the drain. So the tech rebuilt the turn in the drain and ever since then, the drain has been fine.
