I had a leak underneath the sink in my bathroom and then the stopper wouldn't go up and down. I always call American Home Shield when I have a problem. So, I called them and they got me Mainline Plumbing Services Inc. The technician had been here before. He was very nice, and he fixed the problem. And I like to see someone that I know 'cause I really don't like to let strangers in my house. Everything's fine now. I've been with AHS for a while and I'd say to others to get them.
We are glad to know your issue was resolved in a timely manner. We strive to make sure all customer issues are handled, and glad to know you were provided a technician that has been there before. Have a great and prosperous New Year.

I had a heating claim with American Home Shield and it went very quickly. I called and then the Weatherwise people called me. They were out that same day, fixed it, and went about their day. It went very smoothly. I was quite impressed. It was quite simple. It took them about 30 minutes to troubleshoot it, and then they fixed the part, and then we were all good to go. It saved me a bunch of money because if we would have gotten the parts, it would have cost 100 bucks to do it if we would have done it ourselves. So far, this is the only dealing I’ve had with this company as far as filing claims but I am already impressed.
Great Melissa! It's good knowing that AHS has been able to provide satisfactory services. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience & see value in AHS. Have an amazing week.

So far, everything is good with American Home Shield. They sent out Rice Heating & Air Conditioning for a claim and the tech found the problem, fixed it, and was gone within about half an hour. He also showed what exactly the issue was to me. He was very professional. He did a great job and it was just a good company.

When you sign up with American Home Shield, everything that is covered and how the payment works are upfront. So, you know what's gonna happen when you put in a claim. It’s straightforward. American Home Shield handles our claims very fast but there was a mix-up when we used them before and it took almost seven days for the repair place to call. This time, when the pool pump went out, it went smoothly and they called within 48 hours and scheduled the appointment. It was fixed in four days and it went smoothly. Working with the vendor or streamlining their vendor communication process would probably help.

I woke up and I saw a glow inside the oven, and there was a tiny fire in it. I did the claim online because it was the middle of the night, and I got a contractor the next morning. Access Appliance Repair was terrific. They were here quickly and did a good job. They told me that I would have to get a new heating element, and they would have to order it because it was not a typical thing that you could fix without a part. Then they told me, "We shut the power off to the oven," and then they came back and fixed it. It's working perfectly for the holidays.

American Home Shield's customer service is not too bad, but at the same time, it takes a long time. If I had an emergency, forget it. It would have been a couple of days by the time they get a contractor in, which is what I’ve been experiencing. I understand this time of year is also an issue. Moreover, I got mixed emotions with the last contractor. He didn’t quite give me a good solution to my problem. He stopped the leak, which was fine, but he ended up just taping the tubing that came off the refrigerator to the wall, which was not a professional move at all. And I’m not happy with it.
I apologize for the inconvenience we've caused. My name is Stacy and I will contact you to make sure your issue is resolved. I look forward to assisting you.

When we purchased the home, our realtor set up American Home Shield for us, and it’s been a good deal. Every time I’ve ever called, they have been wonderful. When the furnace wasn’t putting out warm air, I spoke with a lady and she called who was available first, and Air Majesty was the first one that was available. After I got off the phone with her, it was a short time before Majesty called me and set up an appointment date. I had an electric igniter for the heater and the tech had to go find one, and that took a couple of days. But the gentleman was knowledgeable and very polite, and understood that I’m a handicapped person and I take a little time to get to the front door. He came back and put the igniter in.

We bought our American Home Shield policy when we closed on our home, and we'll probably keep it. They've helped me and I really appreciate it. It's nice to know that there’s somebody to reach out to for help and I know it's gonna be $75. However, on top of the $75 I paid, the first electrician that came out charged me 260 because he had to do something. And then we had to call him back because what he did didn't fix the issue. We had to pay another 220. It was a really simple thing and he didn't do much of anything.
I also paid $75 for a guy to come out here and put some silicone around my ice maker, which I could have done if he told me what to do. I wouldn't have to pay him $75 to put silicone around it. But that's okay, we learn and we live. The young man was very nice and he sent me the information to replace a little tray that was missing where water comes out. Everything is working fine now and we haven't seen it ice up at all. We're happy with American Home Shield and they've done really good.

One of my toilets wasn't flushing correctly, so the plumbing company had to clean out the outside pipe and it worked fine. They did have to come back out today because the master sinks were backing up. But they kinda couldn't fix that without it costing a bunch of money. They recommended something that I could buy to pour down those sinks. The technician was very professional and he told me what to do. He let me know when he was gonna be here. I really appreciated what he told me.

I have an issue with the humidifier on the furnace. I called AHS and, before scheduling, confirmed that it was covered. The rep said because it was a part of the furnace, it was covered. But when Budget AC, Heating & Plumbing came out, they said that it was an accessory and that it was not covered. It was a big waste of time and money. I had done my due diligence and so I was pretty excited about it. I told my husband that it was gonna be covered and that I went ahead and scheduled the service. But now, I'm down $75 and I still didn't have it repaired. Plus now, I have to get some bids of my own to get it paid for. So I have an issue going on with AHS to look into it and call me back.
In the meantime, I am working to get my $75 service fee back from AHS. I called them on the 30th and they said that they have made the report to have somebody look into it and they would get back to me. I called again today and she said that she saw that a report had been made and that she has not seen any progress made on it but that she was gonna look into that and then let me know how long they thought it would be before I would get my money back.
Hi Jessica,
I hate to hear about the non covered cost in service that has been experienced to have the repair completed. I would be glad to speak with you and reach a resolution.

American Home Shield has improved to my liking. When we first started, we had to wait to pay. But now, we can pay them ahead of time. I've had them for a couple of years now and they come in handy. We should have done it a long time ago. We are pretty still new, but now that I know what I know, I advise anybody to get it when they purchase their home. Recently, we submitted a claim for our AC unit and it went pretty well. AHS's contractor, Blizzard Air, was sent. My husband who was there said that the tech was very professional and personable. It was found that the thermostat was wired incorrectly. He rewired it and the AC is fine now.

Air 72 came out to service my furnace that was not cutting on properly and it was a follow-up. We’d used them about 25 days prior and the first guy had cleaned the furnace. When it messed up again, I went through Home Shield and they contacted Air 72. A new guy came back out on the reoccurring call within an hour of when we made it. This time, he found out that the problem was that the furnace had a loose board with a defect with it. The board was replaced, so that resolved the problem. They didn’t really see that the first time, which is easy to see that something like that could have happened, but the problem was found the second time they came and they corrected it. Also, both guys were good folks and very professional. I'm very pleased.

My cousin recommended American Home Shield and I've been with them for three years. They need a more established group of contractors to rely on. For instance, one of the issues that we had was with our pool heater. They seemed to have had a hard time getting someone here in a reasonable amount of time. By their contract, they were supposed to have somebody here within 48 or 72 hours. But the guy didn’t show up for a week and AHS said it was hard to find someone in that area of specialty. That’s not my problem though. That’s kind of the reason that I got the contract with them so I didn’t have to do that. They have to find contractors.
AHS certainly knows how to automate payments. But they don’t stand out from the other companies. For HVAC, they seem to have found someone good. I can’t say much for the other people they’ve sent out though. We had two repairs that were just a disaster and was really difficult to deal with. I called AHS multiple times. The service was not very good. But when AHS sent out Bob Jones Heating & Energy, that guy was a lot better than the previous contractors AHS sent us. The guy was terrific. He showed up when he said he was going to and he fixed the problem.

Southeast Texas Plumbing was fantastic. They were outstanding with their professionalism, were on time and kept me informed. When they came here they looked at the problem, and took care of it. I couldn't be any happier with it. And I’m pretty much really tight with American Home Shield because when I was in North Carolina I was a preferred contractor for them, so I knew exactly what they should be doing. They hit all the points. These guys were great. I highly recommend them. I also have somebody else come to my home, and it’s those that I want because they inform you. And a lot of times, customers will have questions and all they want is an answer, and these guys really, really do a good job with it.
But one thing I found with American Home Shield and from the customers’ complaints is that when you go online, unless you spoke to somebody, there aren’t enough dropdown boxes to really explain what the problem is, so sometimes the wrong person gets sent. I’ve had a lot of these people who were like, “Wait a minute these are the only options I got.” So I tell my wife, “Hey, the best thing to do is call them and talk to them. Don’t do it online.” But AHS does a great job on these, anyway. I’m totally happy.

There was a time when our water heater wasn't working. The light wasn’t coming on or igniting. I submitted a claim online to AHS who then sent Loyalty Home Services. However, they gave me an email confirmation and the number for the people that they assigned to my claim but then no one called. I waited the whole day, left them a message and still didn’t hear anything back. I called later the second day and the contractor told me that they already had me scheduled. It would've been better if they reached out. Still, Loyalty home was great. The tech knew exactly what the issue was once he did the whole diagnostic thing. My husband said that in 10 or 15 minutes, the tech had the issue fixed and he was gone. The heater has been fine so far.

I’m still waiting to have my faucet fixed in my bathroom since July of last year, and it’s still not done. They keep making an appointment, but C&J Services doesn’t show up. Then they sent us some kind of a thing for the house, then, it gave me mismatched faucets. So, it was a horrible experience. American Home Shield was good until this past year. They changed with the type of people they sent out to do things. The vendors have been way different. They try to give you cheap stuff and try to mess up stuff that you already have to keep from having to replace this. I’m gonna call around and try to get a new company because this is ridiculous.

American Home Shield is the way to go, especially when you don’t know what to do and ain’t no telling when stuff's gonna break down, and they either fix it or replace it. I had a recent claim for a plumbing issue. It was my hot water side of my bathroom. It was leaking. And I gotta give it to them. It was very prompt. I needed to talk to somebody, so I called and talked to them. Their reps were very professional, very patient, very understandable, and they listened. They sent Watson Mechanical, and they were here a little bit before they said they were gonna be here, which I liked because I don’t wanna wait all day. They were in and out. They didn’t take that long.
The hot side of the sink in the bathroom was dripping water. And I looked at it upside down and sideways. I’ve never seen anything else like that, so I didn’t know what to do. I knew the problem but I didn’t know how to fix it. Watson Mechanical has been doing it a long enough time. So, they knew exactly what it was, what to take loose and what not to take loose. And they went on and fixed it. They had the part on the truck and they told me they had to go and get it. It was a woman and a gentleman that came here, and I thank them. I checked good before they left. I’ve been looking at it everyday, and I chalk that up for victory.

Everything went fine with my most recent claim with American Home Shield. The tech from MaxAir Heating & Cooling came out and only hit a switch from gas to electric. He said something is going out but he can’t replace it until it’s really out, because AHS wouldn’t pay for it. I said okay. I'm going on 20 years now with AHS. I’m one-income and if my air goes or whatever, it’s cheaper than buying a new one, so I kept them. The contractors that they've sent have been okay, except Greenway. I don’t ever want him in my house again. They came and fixed something on my air conditioner, and I paid $375 plus the $75 service charge. But I was mad because all he had to do was go through AHS, then I won’t need to have to pay the $75. The AHS rep that I talked to afterwards said he’ll give me a $100 credit. I had to call in but nobody came out to fix it. I did it myself but they took the $100 already. So, I lost either way.

Submitting a claim on my phone is easy and their contractors are good. I've had to use Home Shield a few times. My dryer went out a year ago and they got it fixed. I also had a toilet that was unsealed from the floor and I had to call them out to fix that. The claim with my AC unit was pretty good, too. American Heating and Cooling was professional. There's still something they've gotta do. The technician told me to call them when it gets warmer and I'm thinking about turning the air conditioner on. Other than that, everything with my AC claim got done and it went pretty fast.

I was going through a divorce. Being a single woman, needing that kind of protection and having a little bit more of a financial peace of mind, I thought of getting a home warranty. I did a lot of research and I found that American Home Shield had the best array of protection from many more different appliances and items and things that would need repair more than the competition, and at a pretty decent and fair price. I've been with them for over two and half years now.
Their website is user-friendly. I work in digital advertising, so I'm pretty aware. It's working and I find it really easy to navigate. I used it to submit my claim regarding my dishwasher. After filing, I received an email. It took a couple of days to get the contractors out. The part of the dishwasher where it hooked the top rack onto the slidy thing seemed it would come off or slid off. The contractor noticed, when he came to look at it, that it was broken off, like it had worn off. He did a phenomenal job. I was very happy with it and everything has been great since then.

I had to call and make an appointment and the rep from Dave's Plumbing told me that he would put me on his schedule. He didn’t even tell me what day he would come, he would just say, “I would come maybe the end of the week.” So, closer to the end of the week, he called and said he was on his way, so I said, “Okay.” The handle on my kitchen faucet pulls off, I didn’t undo any screws or anything, it just pulls off. So, when I had the leak that night, I saw some water on our cabinets, so I wasn’t sure if it was coming out of the top of my faucet or not. So, all I did was pull the handle straight off and didn’t see any water. I’m disabled, so my son looked up under the cabinet and said, “Daddy, it’s leaking from under here.”
So, he came out and said, “Sure enough, it was leaking from one of the supply lines,” and he fixed it. I saw him the whole time in there messing with the handle, pushing it back and forth, sideways, turning around. He was spinning it around backwards. And I saw him doing that the whole time, and I thought there was something inside of that handle where he was going to have to replace. However, he never replaced anything and told me it was the supply line. When he got finished and left, I noticed that I had hardly any water pressure.
I called him and he said that it was due to the handle and the handle is not covered under warranty. I asked why would it not be covered. He said, “Because it was taken apart when I got there.” I told him that it wasn’t taken apart, and that I showed him while he was here that it slips on and slips off. He said, “Well, there’s parts missing.” I said, “I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I showed you all I did.” In the end, the leak got fixed and then he left.
Well, we had a bowl up under there from where it was previously leaking, and I saw a a drop or two in there. I called him back, telling that this has happened to me four or five years ago. When they turned the water off, sometimes, when you turn it back on, it takes a couple or three days for it to stop dripping. He said that it could have been water just up inside the handle dripping. With it being the holidays, I said I would give it a week or so, and if it was still leaking the following week, I would call him back. I called him back about a week later and saying that it is still leaking, and he said that he would put you on his schedule. However, I haven't heard one word since then. Nevertheless, yesterday, my daughter checked it and said that the bowls were dry, so it may have stopped leaking. The guy was a super nice guy and he fixed the ultimate problem other than the handles, but he told me he was going to contact me but he never did.
Overall, American Home Shield is very prompt in taking care of things, and I'm satisfied. I realized it was leaking at about 6:30 at night, and I went ahead online to put in my service request. In a matter of 30 minutes, they already sent me a text saying who the plumber was going to be. A couple of years ago, I had issues with my refrigerator, and they went right on it and took care of it. We had just moved in that day and everything was clogged and overflowing in our basement toilet. The contractor said it would be a week and we accepted that because it was the holidays. They said that was the soonest they could get somebody out, so we went ahead and waited. The guy came out on New Year’s Day but when he got there, the septic had unclogged itself. He said there was nothing he could do if everything was flowing good. He kinda checked us out a little bit and said that as far as he could see, everything was okay. The guy was good and we’re satisfied with our experience.
We do appreciate your feedback and we thank you for sharing your experience. We do apologize for the delay in service, however we are pleased your issue was handled.

The air conditioner wasn't working. I called to submit the claim and the customer service rep was very helpful. Then the contractor who came out took two weeks to fix everything because they had to order some parts. When they actually got everything together, they were only there for about a day. They were good and professional. Everything was working great after they got it all fixed. We also got our locks changed out through AHS and that was fast.
Thank you for your positive feedback, we do apologize the procedure took awhile, however it is good to know it was taken care of. We would like to thank you for reaching out to us to share your experience.

Having a home warranty for a purchased home that had been previously lived in was a good idea because I would never know what problems I might find. The realtor selected American Home Shield and we've been with them since we purchased our home in November of 2019. When my dishwasher stopped running, I called them and I spoke to a representative who assigned me to Sears. There was someone available the next day and so they scheduled for him to come out.
The contractor who came out was excellent. He was very personable and he knew what he was doing. He diagnosed the problem and spent enough time here so he knew what was wrong. There were 2 electronic boards that went bad and they needed to be replaced. Sears ordered the correct parts and then I called them back. They scheduled a visit right away to come back and repair it. They did a great job and everything's been better than before. Everything was excellent and I was very satisfied with them.

The heater was having issues, and Matt's Plumbing had to come out multiple times. It got me to assume that it was maybe the wire in the first place and it was never my heater. But at this point I was already out 425 bucks that they charged me plus the $100 deductible, and now, I just had to get the wire changed which put me out another $500 something. So I wish AHS would have sent me like a plumber/electric person in the first place because to me, as the customer, I feel like I spent an extra $525 with Matt's Plumbing that I probably didn't have to spend in the first place because it was the wire from get-go.
I had another plumber come out after they left, and they told me that they did the upgrade and they said they switched out this and that, that they should have switched out the wire as well. And that was what made me upset. Everything is working properly, but with $1,300 later out of my pocket. Anything I do to that home because the home's from 1929 is gonna be an upgrade regardless. But had Matt's Plumbing been experts on electricians, it probably would have saved not only me time and money, but also AHS, because I feel that my heater was never bad in the first place.
I've been dealing with heater issues since November. R & R called me and told me a date and then R & R didn't fulfill that date. So as a consumer I feel like I've been given the runaround and I'm out all this money at the same time having warranty. I feel like I didn't have any warranty because now I'm scared. I thought I was gonna sell the property. I canceled and then I re-signed again, but when you re-signed on, you have to wait for 30 days again, which I didn't know. I should've waited to see if the home was gonna sell at that point. In fact, when I canceled in August, I feel like if these people tell AHS anything that it's an upgrade, AHS is gonna come to me with the section 103 blah blah blah because anything I do in the house is gonna be upgrade anyways. Even if the refrigerator goes out, the refrigerator is gonna be an upgrade.
It left a bad taste in my mouth, and me, knowing that I have warranty, I still had to come out of pocket all this money. Like Matt's Plumbing, I've read some of their reviews, and I called AHS and said they might wanna think about using somebody else because on the reviews Home Shield customers were saying that Matt's Plumbing goes out to that they're hooking 400 to $475, regardless. And to be honest all the contractor did was to put new water hoses and put a drain pan, which in reality, I didn't use the drain pan in the first place because the heater's outside. I'm still with AHS but if I gotta use another claim I'm skeptical because if any of these people say upgrades, I know I'm gonna have to come out of pocket. The only thing they did because it was still related to the heater, was not charge me the other $100. But their reps were good as far as when I get ahold of them or I talk to somebody.

Whenever I have a claim, I like to speak with someone at AHS and the representatives I talked to were pleasant. Recently, I had an issue with the garbage disposal and it didn't take long for AHS to send out a tech from Anytime Home services. Their normal time is 24 to 48 hours, and somebody came out within that time. The tech was also fine and now the garbage disposal is working.
But I had one bad experience with them and it had to do with my air conditioner. I had somebody that came out about five times to repair the same problem who eventually turned around and said that if he comes out again, they've gotta replace it. And lo and behold, the same thing was happening in the middle of summer. Then, AHS had to get a second opinion and they sent somebody else out. We had a four ton air conditioner unit in and we only have an 1,850 square foot house, but the tech said the four ton is too small for that. However, all our neighbors have the same size of AC unit. Still, they said that they couldn't do it for some obscure reason. They were only supposed to replace it with the same unit but the guy said it has to have a five ton in there, so it ended up costing me $6,000 out of pocket.
In all the years that I've been with AHS, they should not have treated me like they did. Every single person there had a four ton air conditioner and some of the houses are 2,300 square feet. It was wrong that the guy turned around and said that I gotta have a five ton air conditioner to do the same job. That was overkill because at the moment, I had to put it in and AHS wouldn't have insured me if I didn't put in the correct size air conditioner.
I can understand your frustration with paying out of pocket cost for your HVAC & I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks for sharing your warranty experience. Have a great week.

We just purchased the home and American Home Shield was suggested by our realtor. We've had the coverage since the end of November and we already filed our first claim. We did it online and it was easy. We got Ball Security Locksmith to do a rekey and they contacted me to let me know that they were on their way. My husband was home when the locksmith came and he said that the locksmith was very pleasant and helpful and did everything that we asked them to do.

American Home Shield does what they say they're gonna do. I've been with them for three years now. I submitted the claim online to repair the furnace and there was a heating/plumbing company assigned to it. It took a few days to get in touch with them and the guy came out within three days. He said he couldn't fix it because it was something with the zone controller and we had to have an electrician do it. Then AHS assigned an electrician to it and when I called the electrician, he said that he couldn't fix it. It was part of the heating system. The first guy that came out was clueless and he didn't know what he was doing. I ended up getting another heating and plumbing company, and they were out within half a day and fixed it in about 20 minutes. So the second heating and plumbing guy, Boldt's Plumbing, was the one that ultimately fixed it. The furnace is operational now.

I'm very disappointed with Express Appliance. They've been here twice. They fixed the refrigerator. They said they fixed the dishwasher and it's leaking water everywhere. I was gonna call them for that one. This will be the 3rd visit since December 9th when it's 1 month. No icemaker, and now the dishwasher is leaking water. Every time I run it I have to mop up the floor because the water is coming right out the side, and I don't have ice. I want it for Christmas and they said either they finish the 20th then I said, "Can I have it for New Year's? I want to schedule an appointment right before then." But they said they didn't have any available so that's when they gave me January 3rd. It was from 2-6.
That morning they called and said that the technician had an emergency that put me in the 10th from 8 to noon. And then the tech had ordered a valve for the refrigerator and the parts department cancelled it because they said I needed a different water filter. It was Jerry, and he evaluated it and ordered 2 parts. He came back on the 20th of last month and put the 2 parts in, but it still didn't work. He said that I needed a valve. I said, "If that filter is wrong, order it, and then I'll pay for it."
Now when I called the company to pay for it, they said it wasn't ordered yet, and then they had to call back. So then they called me and said they cancelled the valve and if they just brought the filter, it would be 120 dollars. I said, "What would be coming here? I'll install it myself. If you could just order it and I'll pay for the parts." But they said they couldn't do that so I ordered it. They gave me a parts number. I put it in and I knew it wasn't gonna work. So, now I know we need a valve but they cancelled the valve so he'll be coming on the 10th without it then have to order it again.
When I called I said, "I hope you cancelled the valve. Not just evaluate it then order the parts, because then they won't work even later. So the guy is coming without that valve and he won't be able to do anything. He didn't do it the last time he was here." So, I asked for a different company and they said I'm stuck with the same company when I called. But they're not fixing it. I'm very dissatisfied. My sister recommended Home Shield to me and didn't have this kind of luck. I told her, this is the 3rd time that they're trying to install and she said told me to call and ask for a different company. And then when I did, AHS said no so I have to have the same technician come back.
Good morning Linda,
Thank you for partnering with me to reach a resolution on this matter. It was my pleasure assisting you and thank you for being the best part of American Home Shield!

I have a rental property in Illinois that's covered by AHS. I have a renter there for 20 years and recently, when something was going on with the furnace, we called it in. AHS sent out a tech from Air First Mechanical and they got it fixed. It was easy to submit the claim and we got the contractor right away. So, all worked out and AHS got everything resolved. Also, in the past, we’ve had a couple of contractors that were a little bit more questionable, but the people that AHS sent out for the heater were fine.

And they're efficient and fast and they text and send an email. They have good communication, and the prices are good. I had a claim for the keypad from outside the garage door. Garage Doors and More came out initially, and they didn't have any keypads. It was two days before Christmas. And so, they came out this week on a Monday, and they installed the new keypad, and it's fine. They were fast and on time.

I'm super satisfied and would recommend Baylis to anybody. They did a fine job. I had an issue with the air conditioning, the AC condenser and then the AC cylinder. It was the part that's in the house that would never shut off. It just kept running. So, I called American Home Shield and then Baylis came out and he said that the computer that's attached to the motor doesn't recognize when it's that temperature, and so it either just keeps running or doesn't run. So, he said he had to get a new motor, and he said, "I'll be back tomorrow."
He was super nice. He was on time. He told me what was going on. I started to question what he had said, and so I called him later and asked him again like, "Okay, so you're saying it's the computer but you're having to replace everything with the motor." He explained it like I was a four-year-old and was considerate and answered my questions. And then he'd made the comment and he came back on time and fixed it and left. It was very nice, so I was happy.
I submitted the claim online. I was not very tech-savvy, and I thought navigating AHS' website was pretty easy. I didn't blow up anything or melt the world, so it worked out well. I was super happy because not knowing what was going on, we had just bought the house and lived in it a month, and it was like, "Oh, crap, we're gonna have to get the air conditioning fixed," and then it's like, "Oh wait, I have insurance." And it worked out great. They did what they stated they were going to do when we purchased the policy, and I was very happy with how everything went, that there was no delay or pissing and moaning about having to get something done. Everyone was nice and answered my questions.
Thanks for sharing your feedback Kevin. Have an amazing week.

I was very impressed because the older gentleman wanted to make sure it was done and done correctly without any issues. He took a lot of pride in his work, and that was something that really stuck in my mind.

Appliance Network has been out four times, and they're supposed to be coming back tomorrow to bring another part that they're gonna put on. And I'm very ticked. I'm really not happy about this. I called them December 18th. And every time the company came out, they'd bring a part, but I have a family and we've had to buy clothes. We've had to go to the laundromat because we wash quite a bit, and I hate that it's taking so long.
I got into American Home Shield's program because you wanna make things simpler and I thought it would be better. It's taking too long. I need to get things done and I cannot wash. So, I'm hoping something works out tomorrow because they can't keep coming out. Something has to be done. It's very disappointing. I called them each time, and they make appointment, and they come out. It's just the same thing. I want it done.
I first called on December 18th, and it had gone out the day before. And they've already made four trips out and each time they make a trip, I've got a window of 12:00 to 3:00 or longer. Then that's keeping me home all those times too and still I'm not getting anything done. And it was bad because it was during the Christmas holidays. So, there were a lot of things I couldn't do. I'm very dissatisfied, and with what I'm going through, I wouldn't tell someone else, "Yeah, try it."

American Home Shield's customer service was good, but the company they chose to represent them out in the field didn't really represent them well. I got Heros Plumbing and, at first, I was a little rocky with them. When they called me to schedule my appointment, I confirmed with them that they were doing the garbage disposal and the hose bib outside but they said they just have the garbage disposal. I asked them to call American Home Shield to confirm but they said they don't have time for that. They also told me that if I didn't want them to come out, then they won't come out. I called American Home Shield and they said they had the hose bib on there. They called Heros Plumbing, and then Heros Plumbing called me back the next day and said they were gonna come out and do the hose bib and garbage disposal. And then the plumber did a good job on it.
There is obviously a breakdown in communication between the plumbing company and American Home Shield. The plumbing company, for some reason, didn't have the full story or didn't wanna say the full story and they were not interested in helping the customer out at all. If I'm calling a plumber, I'll never call Heros Plumbing because of the experience I had with them.
We do apologize with the delay with the company. Thank you for sharing your experience and we will take into consideration of your experience.

I called AHS to submit my claim and it was easy. It’s just kind of frustrating because it’s really hard to get ahold of anybody from their contractor Whitney Holdings. The amount was gonna be quite a bit more than I would have anticipated, and the people at American Shield said that sometimes companies will work with you on price. So I’m waiting to hear back from them. For some reason, we’re just playing a lot of phone tag. But once I get ahold of somebody, they're great.
Also what I would like is probably not possible, but when it says that it’s covered, it would be nice that it really was all the way covered. And I don’t know if it was just because mine was a unique situation. My water heater is like a special model. AHS told me that I could have a buyout or that I could call Whitney and see if they would work with me on the price at all. So that’s what I’m doing right now. I'm trying to call Whitney because it’s just easier than having to find somebody else and then stick around with it.

I currently have a paid in full 1 year warranty with American home Shield. It's 10:30pm, the main sewer line in my home is stopped up. Nothing in my home drains, no sinks, no showers, no baths and especially no toilets! I put in a request for service with American Home Shield. I let them know the main sewer line in my home was stopped. After the request for service was made I instantly received an email letting me know that a service provider was assigned to my request for service and that the service provider would contact me in within 24 business hours to schedule an appointment. How does that sound to you? 24 business hours! Yes! Three days!! How would you and your family do with no bathroom for three days?
I called the provider at 8am the next morning to verify they received my service request, there was no answer so I left a detailed message. I called again at noon, no one picked up. It is now 3pm in the afternoon, I have not received a call back. Since I did not receive a call back, I called them. Someone picked, they said they were making the schedule and they were getting ready to call me and they will call me shortly to set up an appointment. I never received a call. I called AHS to cancelled my service request and have my service fee returned to me. I verified with customer service that the service provider has three days before they are required to call me to schedule an appointment. This is completely unacceptable. I been having home shield warranty for about 3 years. I paid my premium yearly and I been lucky enough to only need their service once to re-key my home. But just recently my refrigerator broke down in October 2019. I called them to place the request and paid the $75.00 dollar fee. They sent a Technician from Accord Appliance. He smelled like cigarettes and was rude. He fix my fridge and it was working fine for a week and it broke down again. They send a different technician and he fixed it again. Worked for about 5 weeks and now it is broken again. I had no fridge during Christmas and all my groceries have to be discarded this is the 3rd time that I have to do this.
I called on Dec 26, 2019 to report the problem and a representative from Home Shield named Maria said she will get back to me within 24 hours to see if they will approve my refrigerator to be replaced. I called back on Dec 31, 2019 and home shield states they have no record of me calling on Dec 26, 2019 and that they have no one by the name “Maria” working in their department. They need me to pay the $75.00 dollars service fee to send a technician again and see if they can repair it. In the meantime I have no fridge and having to buy groceries daily is putting my family in a hardship. I just feel like I am being taking advantage of. I just want my fridge fixed or replaced, do what you promise me the customer when you collected the yearly premium.

The warranty company used to be fine until the calls started routing to some customer care in Philippines. I had an issue with washer leaking water and created a service request in June 2019. A part had to be ordered and until we made several calls, the part was not ordered. After the part was ordered, it took around 3 months to fix it to the washer. The mechanical company being used doesn't respond to the calls/voice message or text messages. AHS Philippines call center has no clue or control over the mechanical company and they just ask us to pay the service fees and request online. If the delay is on their side, I could not understand why I had to pay another service fees. The answer was they did visit and it's been 60 days after the visit and hence I had to pay.
I asked them for their employee number or some identification and I am told that there is nothing. On top of it, they don't log the information of the call. I insisted on getting the supervisor and some guy faked to be a supervisor and could not give any identification to refer them. This call center is a sham. Luckily after 4-5 attempts, I could catch hold of an US-based representative and she was able to send the technician in 2-3 days. But it didn't fix the issue and again the in-numerous number of calls and luck of hitting a US-based representative was frustrating to the core.
It's been almost two months trying to catch hold of them and I am just being asked to pay the trade service fees again even though the issue was reported long back. The representatives are not logging the information correctly. And to my bad luck, every time I am hitting a call center guy in Philippines. There is no way to write to them and am seriously considering cancelling the subscription.
I do apologize this has been a bad experience. My name is Robert and I will be looking into your case, to have this issue taken care of.

I requested for a service from American Home Shield for a leaky sink. I originally did it online but I did it for the wrong property, so I had to call them and have them change it to the right one. Navigating their website was very easy. I always use it. It tells me right away who the contractors would be and when to expect them. Greenway Home Services has always been good. We always ask for AHS to use them. They came out to service the leaky sink and so far, everything was resolved.

The guys couldn’t get into the box because it was so old. Something broke when we tried to open it. But it had something to do with the age of the box and that’s why they replaced it. I did a claim with AHS and the guy from Doctor Cool was out promptly. He knew what he was doing and he was pretty fast. It looked like he did a couple of coils that connect. There were about six of them and he just straightened them out, and then it seemed to cycle pretty good. He cycled it down for about six times and then, he left. Two days later, however, it doesn't wanna come on again. The downstairs are working great but it will come on once every eight or nine times we try it.

GE Appliance came out, and the issue is not going very well. The interactions have been okay, but there was a delay because of the holidays. I've been trying to get the dishwasher resolved since the first of December. I was completely understanding, but they called me on New Year's Eve saying that they will be here on January 2 to install. So, I took off work for the afternoon and no one ever came and no one ever called me. And so, I waited. The guy that called me said, “I’ll be there between 2:00 and 6:00.” So I waited and nobody showed up. I didn’t even get a cancel phone call.
So the next day, January 3, nobody called me and I was busy at work. Then I finally called a couple of days later myself and they rescheduled a day to come out. They then came with the new dishwasher and went to install it and said that my cut-off valve to my old dishwasher was broken. They couldn't get the water to cut off. I said, “Well, I’ll go down to the main water line down at my driveway, and I’ll cut the water off, Just please get my dishwasher installed.” He said he could not do that. He could not let me cut off my water and install the dishwasher for liability reasons. So I understood and he said that we will reschedule once I get a plumber out here to fix the valve.
I called American Home Shield and they declined for the valve. Ironically, the guy from KNS Plumbing just came today and it was a very good follow-up. He was super nice, too. He couldn’t get it fixed, and now he has got to order parts. Now I’m waiting for a call from KNS to say they’ll come to fix the valve with the part, which the guy said that he had put me as a priority. Then I can call the North-South Delivery company to put the dishwasher in the middle of the kitchen and have them to come install it. But I’m still at least probably a week away from getting everything resolved, and I lived without a dishwasher all through the holidays. I’m really frustrated. Now I've got to wait for them to come back -- they said they’ll try to get back by the end of the week.
I have got this new dishwasher siting in the kitchen against the wall, and an old dishwasher still installed. So, it has been a fiasco, and it has been a slow process. The GE people pissed me off because they should have come the day I took off work when they told me they would. I also asked AHS when I called to claim the valve if they can put the dishwasher in so I could do it all in one day because the one coming is a plumbing company, and because the dishwasher is already here. The customer service rep said that that is a separate claim, that it will still have to be two different people. It has been a frustrating ordeal. I've known about AHS for years because I am a realtor, and I've referred them for 14 years to clients. As with all warranty companies, I have heard good and bad things. I chose to use them myself and they have done a few good things for me, so I’m not upset. But, I’m frustrated about the whole dishwasher issue.
Hi Leslie,
I hate to hear about your most recent AHS experience and the delay in service that you have experienced to have the dishwasher install completed. I would be glad to speak with you and get the issue resolved.

We purchased our home in May and we've had Home Shield since. We had a washer issue and they came out several times. It was kind of a pain for all the calls for it and they couldn’t fix it, but it was replaced for about the call cost. So, I can’t complain about that. Then, I was looking to replace my backup sub pump and I figured I’d talk it through what American Home Shield had in terms of if it would be covered. I put in the ticket and GMD Plumbing came out once and their guy, Ryan, fixed it. He fixed the switch problem and the battery was covered, which was great. Then, it got bumped and then, broke again. Ryan came back out and fixed it again. He was fantastic and the service was great.

And then it turned out that it was the type of filter that we were using and then he had to adjust some stuff in there too. The guy was really good. He explained to me what I needed to know. When the Kelly Brothers came out here, they told me I had seven plugs that had no power on it. It needed to be rewired from the plug all the way to the circuit breaker. So, in order to get to the wires in the wall, you have to go through the sheetrock and Kelly Brothers wrote on the work order that they couldn't get access to it. I've been dealing with this electrical issue for over seven months now and if they needed access into the wall, I had no problem grabbing my sledgehammer and busting these walls wide open because the electricity is more important than the wall. I could patch that back myself, but instead of doing all of that, when I asked them when he was done checking everything, he cut me off and said that he was going to forward this to AHS and AHS would contact me.
While I was currently with AHS, they never contacted me. I was so paranoid I blew their phone up the next day, which was when I saw on the work order he had no access. So, because he couldn't get in the wall, AHS wouldn't cover it, saying they don't cover stuff inside the wall, which was a trap. That threw me for a bad loop and I left them immediately after that. So, it wasn't trying to work with me or do anything of that nature, so I just cut my losses and I didn't even make a good 90 days. It was my first claim with Kelly Brothers. I paid the money and everything and it went left. So, I ended it right then and there. Once I got the actual packet from American Home Shield, the loophole is the stuff that they won't do is more than the stuff they will do. There's more fine print than the stuff that they agree to do. They should stand for something and not build their company off a lie.
We do apologize for the experience you have faced regarding your electrical service. My name is Robert and I will be assisting you further with this issue.

I had a plumbing issue and the contractor from Universal Plumbing fixed the problem. Everything went fabulously. The contractor was very professional and he showed up when he was supposed to, stayed until the job was done, and talked us through a lot of the things that I was concerned about and was curious about. He described everything in detail and did a great job. It was a really bad rainy day and it was cold, and he stayed and completed it right before Christmas too. It was awesome.
I've had American Home Shield since 2016. It’s an automatic renewal every month, but I continue to stay with them mainly because pretty much every call that we’ve put out to them, we’ve had success except for the sewer system. They didn’t have any local contractors that were signed up with them. And so, we had an issue trying to get someone out for that right before Thanksgiving. So, they gave us the option because they couldn’t respond with anyone to call someone out on our behalf.
The company could improve their sewer contractors. We still haven’t resolved the bill on that first sewer issue in the Thanksgiving where we had to wait almost two weeks with sewer issues to be able to be allowed to call and get someone out here. I haven’t gotten paid back for that call out fee that they told me that I had to go ahead and do. I need to get in touch with them on that. Other than that, it has been a most positive experience with them, and I do wanna refer them to other people.

I was not pleased at all with AHS' customer service on the first call, and because it was my first call, I don’t know if I misled the woman or not, but what was happening here was that I was running the dishwasher, and I had a load of clothes in the washer. And when the spin cycle started, water started coming up in my shower and my toilet. And she wanted to know how close the two things are to each other. I said they share a wall here and she said there was a leak. I said I was not sure if it was a leak. I couldn't tell her what was wrong and what was causing it. I just wanted it fixed.
She said the plumber could come out there and see what was wrong. I said “Fine, that’ll do. That’s okay with me.” She said, “But I don’t know if it’s a leak or a break.” I said I couldn't tell her. I’m not a plumber. I could see the water was coming up and I’ve got tiles on the floor, but thank goodness it was still clean water, and it was warm from the washing machine, or whoever’s doing hot water is coming up.
She said she was gonna put it down as a leak. I said, “Okay. How soon will he be here.” She said she didn't know yet and she gave his phone number. I called it, but no one answered. I left a message. The plumber called me back about a quarter after 4:00 or 4:30, and he explained to me that his contract with American Home Shield, if a call came in after 4 o’clock, he didn't have to take it until the next business day. The call came in evidently after 4 o’clock on Friday whenever she called him. And he couldn’t come out until Monday or Tuesday, which meant I had problems all weekend. And then he did not come out. I ended up calling Roto-Rooter and they came out and cleared the drain that was causing the problem. And he called me back and said, “I’m ready to come out now and put you on the schedule.” I said, "Never Mind. I’ve already got it fixed.”
AHS dropped the ball. And I don’t know how to explain things to someone on the phone who sounded just as lay as I did. We didn’t know. We couldn't see through the pipes. But the situation with the locksmith was perfect. He came out. He explained to me what he was gonna do, asked me how many keys I needed, changed the locks, and I don’t think he was here for more than 30 minutes. And he came early and it was done. He knew what he was doing and that was it.

The lady said it was a conflict because part of my contract says my name is Lawrence ** and then part of my contract says Lawrence ** III, and Lawrence ** III had my phone number, but Lawrence ** didn’t have a phone number. I told her that that was no reason to cancel a person’s contract when you have an emergency. But nevertheless, I did the claim on a Monday and it was cancelled and I called back on Wednesday, and the lady kept me on the line until she got ahold of somebody, and they came right out Wednesday afternoon.
The guy from Triple T explained everything to me, and told me what I can do for future reference. I’m on well water so he said I can buy a filter that can be attached to my water system to catch the sand and grit that were in the water heater. So he was very helpful and knowledgeable of the job. They came and looked at it and they said there was a kit that they needed to put on there and they had to order that. And they were gonna come back Thursday of this next week but I haven't seen anything about their coming back Thursday. It doesn’t make sense from a consumer standpoint that when we have a problem, we call somebody out and they come out and say, “Yeah, you gotta problem and this is covered, but we have to come back in another week.” That’s fine if it’s something that you don’t have to use, but if it was your furnace in the wintertime, that would not be very good. The same way with the refrigerator.
One of the things that AHS need to do is they need to put on their called ID that they're American Home Shield so that people will answer. Normally, I would not have answered the phone. Sometimes, the people from American Home Shield that answer the phone at the beginning don’t know much and it takes a long time on the phone. When you have so many properties, sometimes, they don’t refer to the properties. Another problem is that when you get the bill on your credit card, it doesn’t tell you exactly which contract number it’s referring to. So, then the accounting we need to do to divide it to the unit that it belongs to is kind of messy because you gotta call and request some information to be able to do it. But so far, AHS has resolved most of the problems. And when they have not, they have reimbursed. So, it’s been working pretty good.

Two months ago, I called AHS and they said that the systems were down and I had to call back another day, which was disappointing. Also, on several occasions, I called them and they said they'd set up a vendor. Then the vendor would call, but won’t show up for several days. Then they'd call and say that they couldn't get to my job and that they were gonna cancel the assignment. Then, the claim would go back to AHS and they'd call me to set up another vendor. The technician from Airmax came out and was very helpful. I got my unit, air handler and the condenser taken care of. They did a wonderful job but I had to do a few follow-up calls to American Home Shield when I submitted the claim. I was not too happy because you have to go through a lot of different customer care reps. Some of them were rude and not helpful. They gave me a lot of lips and such a hard time. I was so mad. But I asked to speak to a higher authority and he worked sincerely and made me happy. He apologized and I got AHS to get everything approved, and my matter was resolved
American Home Shield is excellent but they need to talk to their customer service reps and teach them about respect, manners and courtesy. I cancelled my contract after I have been with AHS for five years because the reps’ behavior on the phone was no good. What got me more upset was that I just came out from the hospital because I had pneumonia and they got me so frustrated. But I love AHS and in the future, I’m gonna take them back.

Appliance Magic came out to service an appliance issue with our refrigerator dispenser and the things with the claim went very well. The guy came, did the inspection, and then he went and brought the tools and he fixed them. But when he changed the pipe of the water in the dispenser, the ice portion of the refrigerator started a cracking sound. That maybe because the refrigerator would have to send the water and send the ice, and then the sound will stop. But it didn’t stop. The technician was a very kind man. He told me that if there was an issue, I have to call him back because they will come and fix it for 30 days. So, I called him yesterday but he didn’t pick up. This morning I called him and he picked up the phone. He told me that he would stop by to see what the problem is and that should not be a big issue. Maybe he will fix it.
I called the company a week before for two things. In the agreement, my name spelling is wrong. The rep already put that request to the management that they should fix the spelling of my name in the contract. I have the contract with me and in my online account, but my name is spelled wrong. Maybe it was just typo, which is not a big thing, but they can fix it. Also, when we were buying the insurance, we talked to a gentleman and he told us that my policy would start effective 27th of November, and then the payment would start on February. But they charged my card already. The rep said AHS will take care of that because that was something consulted and that it will be fixed.
Overall, my experience was very outstanding and I’m very happy to be with American Home Shield. This is our first home which we bought since we moved to the US and this is the first claim that we are getting from American Home Shield. I would not find any better insurance company for the appliances. I also recommended it to a couple of my friends, that they should go with American Home Shield if they are buying houses in the future, especially for the new people who work in the US like us. Because we got the call and in 48 hours the contractor came and fixed the problem. It was something that we wanted and it happened.

He told me something that’s been wrong with my oven for the last 13 years that nobody else ever told me and that it wasn’t installed properly. The electric box needed a 40-amp and they only put a 30-amp which is why my oven has never worked right in 13 years. He said, “You can’t use both ovens until this gets fixed.” While he didn't get it taken care of all in one day as the issue was electrical, he got it fixed eventually and now I can use the bottom oven if I want to.

We have all high end appliances in our kitchen, Sub-Zero, Viking, etc. When I signed up to go with American Home Shield the salesman assured me that I would have no trouble if one needed replacement with a comparable appliance, although not necessarily the same brand. He reiterated that a Viking would be replaced with a similar costing brand. When my Viking dishwasher failed, they determined that it could not be repaired because they no longer could get parts. (It took almost a month for them to make this assessment.)
They offered a mid level replacement costing less than half as much. This was not what their salesperson said and I was very specific about replacement. In addition their supervisor said that they would not increase their offer at all. I feel that their offer was nowhere near the quality of the Viking (it costs less than half as much) and they were arbitrary in determining the cash offer in lieu of accepting their replacement brand. Beware of this company if you have high end appliances.
We do apologize that you are having an issue with the replacement. My name is Robert and I will be reviewing your case to make sure it is resolved.

Unfortunately, it took a week for a contractor to come out to my home after I filed the claim. While the contractor did well and we had an excellent interaction with the guy, American Home Shield should have enough companies that they can go to to get us the next day or a couple of days' service, instead of having to wait for a week for someone to come out. In the summer months, one doesn't leave the swimming pool for a week without a pump because here in the desert where we live, it would get mold. Other than that, everything's going really well now. I even upgraded my pump in my entire control system for my pool so that hopefully I won't ever have any problems again.

American Home Shield referred CK Appliance and they came out to fix my Bosch dishwasher. I really like them. They also came out another time before to fix my refrigerator. It was a stopped up drain. CK is efficient, on time, very nice, and very professional. They came in, diagnosed the problem, and didn't waste time. They answered my questions and if I didn't have questions, then they explained stuff. I would always ask for them if they can service me. American Home Shield go by zip code and CK has people over here in my zip code. I also work in the same area where their office is. And that's what makes the reputation of American Home Shield good with the people that they send. I know American Home Shield said something to me that, “Well, we like to collect the service fee upfront.” And I said, "Well, that's different but I understand it." And they explained why, which is fine. So, so far, I've had good experiences.
I've been with American Home Shield for a long time and when I submit claims, I like to talk to a person. I know people go online but I just like the interaction with talking to who I’m assigned. I also just like to know that it's been received. And American Home Shield has always been responsive to my request. I've been very pleased as well with who they send out. The only time I wasn't pleased was many years ago when my heat pump went out and I had to bicker back and forth. And so, I had talked to the headquarters and they made a compromise. But everything else has been on target.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback. We are glad we were able to assist you with your issues in the home. All feedback is welcomed, and we hope to continue to be the Home Warranty you purchased to protect your systems and appliances. Have a great week!

Dean’s Shop came out for my air conditioner and they were wonderful. I would prefer not to use anybody else but them. They're local San Marcos people. They do a great job and they're downright good people. Dean’s Shop is the best. If anybody wants a recommendation, I would suggest them. But my most recent claim was the water heater and they don’t work on gas water heaters, so I had to use somebody else. American Home Shield sent somebody out and he was in my house for about five minutes, turned a knob, and I had to pay $125 for that. It ticked me off. The guy told my daughter to not worry about it and that the insurance was taking care of it. I told my daughter later that I had to pay $125 upfront and all he did was turn a knob because the knob somehow got turned. I called and asked if they could at least refund half of it, but they said no.
I totaled up the amount of money that I have given American Home Shield and it's around $15,000 because I’ve been with them for 20 years. I don’t use them very often because nothing really bad happens. But still, that’s a hell of a lot of money. I remember when I was only paying $50 for them to come out and then it went up to $75, and then the next time I used them it was $125. It’s really hard to give $125 every time I use them, knowing that I’ve given them so much money. I’m disappointed that I have to throw out a $125 upfront, but that’s the way the world works.

It took a little over a week for a different guy to come back out to put those parts on. My stove is working okay now.
I also had called in another claim at the same time for the plumbing, and that went okay too. That was fixed the first day when the plumber came. He had to tighten the little joint around it. And while he was here, he went on and put a small snake down to do the little thing there in my bathroom sink while he was working in it. American Home Shield needs to clear up what they cover. Every time you put something new in a home, like a furnace, a heater, water system or water heater, if it's been there any length of time, there's gonna be upgrades either by the local government or the county or at that matter, the whole country upgrades sometimes. They don't cover those upgrades. And sometimes, that's the most expensive part of the whole thing.

I went online and requested the appointment for my shower that was leaking. Navigating through the website was really good because that's more easy for making the appointment. Pipe Down Services came out to do service and the plumber was very good because he found the problem on the shower. We were thinking it was gonna be hard to fix but he did very well. And since he had been out, everything has been really good. I chose American Home Shield because of somebody's recommendation and I've had them for a month already.
Veronica,
Thanks for letting us know everything worked out great for you. Taking care of our customers is the main goal here at AHS. I am glad that you were happy with the work done. We look forward to servicing you in the future as needed. Enjoy your day.

I have a Thermador refrigerator and on the outside, I have the ice and water dispenser and where the water was coming out, it was mildewy. I called and asked them if it could be looked at and if it, as well as a piece where it drains, could be replaced. A very qualified person was sent out to look at it. He said that he was gonna put in the request and I was told that I was gonna get a call to see when it could be replaced. Then I got a text saying that if I wanted it done, I would have to get a company to do it for me and then AHS would pay for it up to a certain amount. It seemed fair to me, but I thought that I didn’t wanna do that. I cleaned it myself and it looks a lot better.
Also, when my dryer was knocking, the contractor replaced the little balls inside, which fixed it. And while he was here, I asked him if he could pull it out so I could clean the back, but he wouldn’t do it. Other than that, they’ve been wonderful. My microwave also got fixed. All in all, AHS been great and I've had had really good experiences with them.

We used to like being able to call in, but it took so long to wait. Now, we do it online and submitting a claim that way is easy. Joshua, the gentleman from Phillips Plumbing Company that came out did a nice job and he was very nice with my husband, explaining everything that we needed to do. We have always had good service with American Home Shield, and he definitely was one of the best as far as the time that he took. He was very nice when he came back the second time. He made sure he cleaned up the floor area after he was done, so it was appreciated. The AHS staff called us when we needed to be told what was happening. They were good. We didn't have to chase after anybody, but sometimes we do.
The only problem that we had was we tried to do a special that was to come out and clean out our heating for $75, and we ended up having to cancel that because we never could get in touch with the company. We even called AHS to see if they could help us, and we weren't ever able to get that special. We ended up having to call them to get our $75 back because it wasn't refunded by the customer service rep that we called. Once we called, they took care of it.
Thanks for sharing your warranty experience Rosalind. We look forward to handling your future warranty needs. Have an amazing week.

This is our third year with American Home Shield. We had had them before and we were always happy customers so we thought we would do that at our home here. When we had an electrical problem in our home and we couldn’t figure out what was going on, I filed a claim online. It took me a little time navigating their website, but I got there. I got some kind of a notice that I could expect a contractor to be in touch with me within 24 hours. The tech from Sheen Electric called me that evening and he came the next day between the hours that he said he would, and he did a good job. He took out my electrical panel and rewired something electrically. There was a fuse problem too. My issue has been fixed and everything’s fine now.
It is always a pleasure to read positive customer reviews about American Home Shield. I am glad the technician was able to diagnose and fix the issue within a timely manner.

The guy from Alejo Electric was good. He came in and did the work very well and fast. He took care of the outlets. And the tech from the water heater company that came in here was excellent. But the lady on the desk that said she has 15 years of experience, that one was very unprofessional. I had to pay $700 difference for the water heater, and the insurance company is paying $700 also because he had to bring it up to code. The company wanted the money, and I told the lady, “Could you please pull out a permit?” She said no and I said that they should have one because if anything happens, it’s gonna be on the company’s fault, and American Shield is part of it because they hired them and they're all gonna end up getting in trouble. After that, the lady said that if she doesn't get the money, she'll tear the water heater out of our house. I told her that if she does that, I’ll call the police.
I told AHS that they got somebody who was very unprofessional and that lady shouldn’t be talking like that. And then, the AHS customer service lady said that she’s out of it and she told me the gossip which she shouldn’t have because I didn't like that. But then at least, she told me the truth. I was upset about hearing that, so I called and the told the lady that I'm not gonna pay them at all until I get my permit.
I went to the City of Manteca and asked if the water heater company have pulled a permit out and they said no. I said that I’m not gonna pay them and the guy said that that’s the right thing to do. Then I called the state license board and said, “Had the laws changed now? We don’t put permits anymore for water heaters? Because when I was doing projects for the federal government, I had pulled permits out all the time. Is there a new law?" The deputy there said, “No, you’re supposed to put a permit. As soon as you come into the premises, the permit is supposed to be on the wall.”
I called the office of the water heater company back and told them I don’t wanna speak to that lady that was very rude and that I wanna speak to the supervisor. They called me up and the supervisor talked to me. I said, “I just want to let you know about your worker there. I’m willing to pay you your money. I know AHS paid your money already, which is fine, and the technician did a great job. But I wasn’t too happy with your manager there. She said that she was gonna come over here and tear up my water heater because they haven’t got the money, and that’s not the right thing to do.” And the supervisor said, “We don’t do that.”
The supervisor that I was talking to is the owner of the company because I looked his name up on the internet, but he didn’t know I knew who I was talking to. In the end he said, “Don’t worry, we’re getting the permit for you and you could pay me later. Not a problem at all.” So, we solved the problem and everything is fine now. It's just that lady they have in the office is messing up the owner’s business. I told her, “You gotta remember, AHS documented that you have to bring modification up to code, the water heater, and that calls for a permit.”
AHS is in the right. But AHS also has to understand, when they hire somebody like that, they better make sure they’re hiring the right company to make sure they pull the permits because it’s gonna come back to them if something happens because they hired the wrong company. If you do not put a permit in, you get fine for that. You get red tagged. Code enforcement will come in and tag you if there’s no water heater permit. Overall, American Home Shield tried everything and did their part of work.
We do apologize for the experience you had to face with the secretary, and things of that nature should not have happened. Thanks for sharing your feedback and experience with us. We take into consideration our customers occurrences. Thanks for being a valued customer.

The heat on one side of my house on the second floor wasn’t working. Wilson HVAC came out and told me what it was and they fixed it. They replaced a zone motor. They had to come back because they had to order a part through American Home Shield. The part took about a week or two, and then they came as soon as the part was in. I also had a claim for my oven when the control panel on it went out. The contractor came out and took a look at it and the control panel was a discontinued part so American Home Shield replaced my oven since they couldn't get the control panel. I got a beautiful, brand new oven and it worked out great. I recommend them very highly for that.
Every claim that we’ve made through American Home Shield, they’ve responded very quickly. They sent out people who were very good, and everything got fixed. The oven was kind of the icing on the cake. The guy knew what the problem was, diagnosed it, and he went back to them and they couldn't find the part, so they got back to me with a replacement model. I got an even better model than the one that was there. So they were very good.

My experience with AHS was easy. I made a phone call. They asked me what the problem was and I told them. They asked me how many rooms or in what areas. Then within a few minutes, I got a phone call from the contractor. He scheduled an appointment. He showed up when he said he was and he was great to work with. We had made a previous call. AHS was gonna send another company out. I looked up the reviews for the other company that was scheduled to show up before I canceled and they had mixed reviews, not so good. So, I was nervous about that. Then our issue started working again, so then I canceled the appointment. Then, it stopped again, so then I called and they assigned this new contractor. I was happy about that and happy with who showed up.
We are glad to know that your experience in all was a pleasant one. Thanks for providing us with your positive approbation. It is greatly appreciated.

When I had just bought the house, I put in an order to have it rekeyed. The $75 came right off but it took about a week to hear anything back. The guy that did the work was very confident and I was very happy with him. In the end, it was a positive experience, but if you need something done quickly, that becomes your number one priority. AHS should have been able to have a vendor within 48 hours of when I first contacted them.

Surfside Appliance Repair did a great service on my dryer. The tech was quick for the call and he came in a timely amount of time. He was a real nice young man. He had to come back because there was a noise due to something rubbing, but he was able to fix it. I was very pleased with the service. We had a problem with leaking for quite a while until we had all our pipes replaced, which we had to do on our own. But I had quite a bit of problems for a couple of years with that and I always got good service when I called American Home Shield. I didn’t talk to anyone, but I use the phone. I also don’t use the computer but that was not a problem. The people, whoever they contacted, always seem to get back to me, so they must have done that very quickly.
The policy goes up in price every year, but so does everything else. Yet if I had a complaint, that would be it. Still, we’ve used them quite a bit, although nothing major nor have they replaced an appliance. And I’ve been pleased with them, otherwise I wouldn’t still be with them. We've been with them for between 5 and 10 years already. I have also recommended them to a friend and they have gotten American Home Shield.

I purchased a new home and my real estate agent recommended American Home Shield. Once I understood how their claim process works, it’s fine. I had an issue and I thought I’d go ahead and fix things, and then I would be reimbursed, but that’s not exactly how it works. I called AHS and filed a claim early Friday morning and then the contractors came Saturday morning. They stayed in communication. The guy said he'd take a look and went down the basement. He worked on the furnace and then he came up and said there was some air in the line and it happens, and he got it fixed. And the heating has been doing very well since then. It was good.

I've had nothing but positive experiences with AHS both here and in Summerville when we've had to use someone and also with my experiences with the one that I have in Whiteville. I took out the policy for my mother's property because my daddy is deceased and momma doesn't know who to call for whatever. My husband and I have a policy with American Home Shield and had been extremely satisfied. So, I said that I was gonna do this and I was gonna be responsible for this. I’m not there all the time but my daughter was there and when she went to turn on the hot water, no water came out. It was that way throughout the whole house.
I called American Home Shield and the serviceman came out. It was determined that a pipe underneath the house had rusted through. Also, the toilets in the house seemed to continue to run, and sometimes, you would have to jiggle the handle. The contractor said it was a two-person job and he also didn't have the precise pieces that he needed to repair the commodes. They came the following day with the extra individual and since then, the hot water issue has been working wonderful. But for the commode issue, they had to order the pieces and it took three weeks. My impression of what he was gonna do was to replace the handles on the commodes but those are the original commodes to the house and the house was built about 1938, which was why he didn't happen to have whatever it was that he needed. He took a picture of each commode and sent it in.
I was not aware that this one particular commode was still having an issue until I went back at Christmas. I was there and my children were both there and one of them came to me and said that the commode was still sticking. The contractors haven’t come back and it slipped my mind to call back and say something about it.
My mother has five commodes in the house, three downstairs and two upstairs. But she’s 94 and she doesn’t go upstairs anymore. She has another commode downstairs that she can use so that's not so bad. The particular commode that is still sticking is the commode that's off at the den. If she happens to be in there and has to suddenly go to the bathroom, then that's the closest one and that's where she's gonna go. She just has to remember to jiggle the handle or if somebody else happens to be there and uses the bathroom, they may not know. So, we just had be aware if somebody uses that commode and hang around to see if he needs to jiggle the handle.
Good Morning Trudy,
